Classic Santa Barbara hike. Outstanding views along the entire way, especially when you get to Inspiration Point itself. First quarter of the hike is fairly easy, slight incline, but on a paved road. After crossing the bridges, terrain is more traditional. The hike itself is moderate difficulty. Heart and breath rate will climb a bit, but nothing extreme. Best to come on a weekday or early morning to grab parking and avoid crowded trails. Highly recommend!

One of my favorite places. 3.8 miles out and back. Stay left at every fork to go to the point. The first bit is paved, then you get into some dirt climbs. Be ready for dogs and dust. The creek runs in the winter. At the top intersection, continue straight across the fire road and then take the right turn past some rocks for 200+ degrees of beautiful view. Nice hiking experience. It is pretty straightforward and easy to hike all the way to the inspiration point. We parked our car on the shoulder of the road (on weekends, it's a little bit hard to find a spot) and from where we parked to the inspiration point was an altitude difference of roughly 1000 feet. Bring water at least 0.5 liter if it is a relatively hot day (closer to 90 °F). The ascend took approximately 60 minutes and the descent was half of that. The trails are almost well marked, sometimes you get forks that you don't know which one to take. We generally took left on the forks and so I guess we were hiking easily. The hike is fairly easy for a any hiker. There wasn’t much water so there wasn’t any water falls but still worth going. To get to the falls, if you’re going during a fairly dry season, I suggest walking through the creek. It’ll require some climbing over boulders but nothing difficult. It’s such an amazing hike from below as opposed to the top trail. It’s the way less taken. So you can enjoy a nice quiet walk in nature.
Once you get to the “pool” you can climb on one of those rocks to get a different vantage point and see the other “pools”. I was there by myself and it was amazing.
To get back, I suggest going up the path (where the trail would take you down). There’s a rope that you can use to get on the top trail. Then hike the trail down. It goes down from there, so that should make it easier.

After rain during winter it's absolutely gorgeous!!!! Rushing waterfalls, way more than 7!!!! If you make it all the way up there's a larger one. Kind of busy. There is a trail that goes around the river or enough rocks to hop straight up the river (way more fun imo). Definitely dangerous and there was some rock climbing involved but tons of fun!!!! Highly recommend and will be going back until it all dries up again. We went during the summer after rain and there was no water at all, keep that in mind.

Fairly easy to moderate hike if you begin immediately to the right as soon as you see the creeks at entrance. You can either go up the creek or follow a tiny trail alongside it. One of the best hikes I've had. Mission Creek is energizing and beautiful. If you have it in you follow the creek upwards and you will come across more waterfalls. Really fun hike. I agree with the other reviewers it can be a little confusing to find. I think your best bet is to hike up the creek once the trail initially crosses it, then you will come to the falls. There are a few other side trails that will get you to the falls but they include a pretty steep down hike into the creek.

Gorgeous hike! Apparently there hasn't been any water on the falls for the past couple of years do to drought conditions, but we went after a couple of rainy days and the water was flowing and it was beautiful! The hike up was a but of a challenge because we had to walk across rocks/boulders in the water. I would recommend a waterproof bag for phones and shoes that can get wet! I would've enjoyed myself a bit more if I wasn't so worried about falling in the water and ruining my phone!

Medium rigorous very much in the Sun up hill hike first on firmly packed dirt, then on a decent single-track trail, and then pretty unmaintained bushwhacking trail up to the top. Two stasr off for tough and limited parking (with difficult turn around option), poor trail maintenance and signage. But I would gladly do this hike again if I was in the area.

The Santa Barbara botanical garden was a nice garden that showcased many of the local plants and species that are native to the area. The meadow was the most beautiful part of the garden and was really enjoyable to walk through. There were many other nice places to walk through but I didn’t feel that they compared to the meadow. This garden is primarily only California-native plants, which is cool. They have redwoods, a torey pine, and lots of plants from the Channel Islands. The bathroom at the island lookout was the cleanest and we were able to see Santa Cruz Island in the distance. Just visited the Santa Barbara Botanic Garden, and it’s a chill spot for a nature fix! This place is a smaller garden, but it’s got some solid hiking trails and cool streams weaving through. When we went, not a ton of flowers were popping off—only a handful in bloom—but the pine trees and natural vibes made up for it. The landscape feels super serene, and you can check out some Spanish mission ruins from the 1800s right in the garden, which is a neat little history bonus. It’s a little bit over 4 miles round trip but it is steep, providing a good workout for the legs.
I didn’t want to hike up to the falls, as there wasn't enough water flowing this year (Feb 23,2020).
That said, I had a lot of fun with this hike.It offers an incredible view, with a lot of big boulders for me to climb. It was very adventurous and a bit scary for me at the same time.
The green and fall colors mixed together felt amazing and relaxing to my eyes.
The birds singing, wildflowers,and the sound of stream told me spring is here.
I will come back here again after some rainfall.

Great hike, and beautiful area. Probably the most beautiful water fall in Santa Barbara. I did not appreciate the bicyclists riding down the Cold Springs West Trail. There was not enough room for them to pass by while hiking. I felt like I was having to leap out of the way of them (some of their bells were pretty quiet.) One of the best hikes in SB. Be prepared before you go. This trail will require hiking and bouldering towards the top. I took my family of 8 and most did great. There are some technical areas that are a bit suspect. This is where the 9 yr old and the 72 yr old really struggled. Had some scrapes and bruises. But most of us were just dusty, sweaty and dirty at the end.
Note, when approaching the trail head, start with bridge and water falls on your left and go past the signs for the cold springs trailhead.
Beautiful area with unique floral and fauna to Cali and the local area. Impressive views when fog breaks. I would recommend going in the AM before the fog breaks to take advantage of the cooler weather.
Do not hike this trail when inclement weather, heavy rains.

Amazing hike and so much to explore. Went on a Sunday at 9am thinking we made it early and boy howdy did we not. Parking was a bear but we made it work. Lots of people heading up. About 40-50 in total when we got to the pools. Everyone was very kind though and we shared space equally. I was surprised at how many kids are on the trail. I would recommend super early AM for a sunrise view or late in the PM for sunset. Anytime between 9-5 will be packed on the weekends. I would still recommend this hike to anyone. Easy uphill hike with 650 foot total elevation increase. A few rocky vertical sections but saw several older folks trek with ease.

I got lost on the way to the hot springs, but luckily some friendly hikers pointed me in the right direction. I eventually heard laughter echoing through the trees — that’s when I knew I was close. Very nice dog Beach. You can keep walking south for miles to find beautiful desolate beaches and caves. Dogs are able to be off leash. Parking is limited though so you have to get lucky to find a spot if arriving after the morning. There is a cool look out spot at the top of the stairs. That's where I took my pictures. The Douglas Family Preserve was an excellent park to go walk around. It is generally an easy place to walk around with lots of pretty scenery over the water. The eucalyptus smells incredible and this is a spot in California where you can definitely see the seasons change. Beautiful scenery, felt like I was walking into some of the landscape in Colorado; however, I could actually breathe! The many of trails that wind throughout are clearly marked by warnings stating the trees have been effected by drought and are at risk of falling. There was the beach when you climbed to the top of a large hill and down a short path. My partner is disabled and uses a cane but was still able to traverse all terrain in this park. My friends and I blindly took on this trail unprepared with nothing but a plastic water bottle and a little bit of optimism. Had I known what I was getting myself into, I likely would’ve shut it down immediately. However, it is absolutely worth the visit. You don’t need to go all the way to the top of the falls to see some beautiful scenery, but it is worth it if you do!! We explored around before heading straight to the trail and also took several breaks along the way so it took us around 6 hours total but 3 hours for just the hike itself. The waterfall isn’t super strong right now, but still gorgeous. The view out from the top is breathtaking. Literally. This hike is definitely challenging and required me to step out of my comfort zone (lots of rock scrambling + an area that requires a short rope climb) but I do not regret it. Be prepared. Wear the right shoes (that you don’t mind getting wet) Wear the right clothes. It’s easier if you travel very lightly. Bring water. Go with the right people and don’t be afraid to ask for help. So amazing once you reach the waterfall!!! There isn't a trail that leads to the bottom so you have to go directly up the river rocks. Old Mission Santa Barbara is definitely a must visit if you are in Santa Barbara. Lots of history and beautiful artifacts to see. The mission is well kept and maintained. The gardens were nice and the cemetery was interesting. They have several points throughout the inside and outside with QR codes that you can scan for more information or brief history of certain things. Went on a quiet, fair weathered Sunday afternoon. The fee to enter was reasonable and easy to take care of at the front. Throughout our wandering there was probably about 50 others in the spacious two floor museum. The exhibits ranged from photographs, artifacts, audio entries, and large installation. The docents are friendly and while only one was on hand that day they were available many times while chatting with groups. The ships models are beautifully detailed and there are easily a dozen large displays and artifacts you can put your hands on and learn about. This museum is a great visit if you're looking to use an hour or two of your itinerary and the fact Brophy brothers and the restaurant attached to the museum are delicious only helps. It can be walked to from the beach nearby, but it's a little far and surrounded by marinas, so it may be better to drive over to eat and visit the museum and walk along the water for a bit.

This is a must! This experience is by far one of the richest in history and culture! The visitor's center is the first place to stop and buy your admission to the self-guided tour. This is on the corner of Santa Barbara street and Canon Perdido right in Downtown Santa Barbara between Anacapa and Santa Barbara St.

We did the 3 hr Sea Cave Kayak Tour in early Nov and had an adventurous time! Cullen was a fantastic guide: funny, knowledgeable, made us feel safe/prepared and pointed out all the cool features along the journey. We booked our tickets pretty last min but there was availability since it's the slower season. We booked our ferry tickets separate but you can do it through the guiding service too. They provide splash guards, wet suits, helmets and all the kayak gear. At this time of year, I recommend a splash guard to keep your core drier and wearing shorts as most of the tour is in the shade and you are going to get wet as the water was more choppy. Definitely bring a change of clothes to change into after the tour so you're not wet and cold on the ferry ride back! They have changing rooms and outdoor fox proof bins to store your belongings while on the tour. We saw lots of cool sea caves, pelagic birds and kelp beds. Cullen provided adventurous and chill options to go through or around sea cave features and my favorite challenge was going through the Marge Sea Cave. I also wasn't expecting it but we saw the small foxes too! If you're up for the challenge, it was a fun and interesting way to explore the Channel Islands in Nov but would probably recommend to go in the summer when the water is more calm/warmer.

It ended up only being our family of 4 on the tour, and he did a great job adjusting it to what my kids were interested in. My favorite beach to visit when I want to be alone or take my dogs in a quick walk. I have been going here since my childhood. There are a lot of quiet benches, nooks and crannies in between the rocks that offer some peace and quiet if you're looking go meditate or just listen to the ocean.
There is of course a connection to the bike path near by too that will lead your to East Beach and eventually the Pier as well as the Bird Refuge.

This was an awesome trip! Even though the boat ride out was a bit gray and cold (couldn't be helped), upon arriving to the islands the sun came out! The crew was quick to get the kayaks in the water and we were off. Great instruction, gorgeous views, amazing caves, lots of wildlife, saw seals, sea lions, dolphin and tons of water fowl. The crew was careful not to leave anyone behind and gave great instruction before entering the caves. I felt safe and well cared for. We stopped for snack on the water and paddled a long way! (but was given the option to bail if need be) Back to the boat to eat our lunch and then on to snorkeling. Saw sting ray and someone else in the group had a swim with a sea lion. On the way back there was a big group of "critters" so the captain turned the boat around and it was like a party at sea. a whole group of Sea lions out swimming with Dolphins and a ton of seagulls and pelicans (not sure if we were by a school of fish or what) But it was awesome! Got us back safely on time. I would HIGHLY recommend this trip. They have another one that we are planning to do with them as well.

We went on the Painted Cave Kayak and Snorkel trip and it exceeded expectations! We know there were things that the crew couldn’t control like the exceptional weather, constant dolphin pods on the trip out, and humpback whales on the trip back, which made the trip extra special.
However, the crew itself was exceptional too. Everyone was so friendly and helpful, making sure everyone had what they needed at all times. The food on board was so good…I was expecting sandwiches or something for lunch, and we had this really nice, fresh Mediterranean meal. The sounds within the caves are something I can’t describe, so you’ll have to check it out for yourself.
I also loved that the trip built time in to be able to turn off course to spend time with the dolphins or the whales…it didn’t feel like we weren't beholden to a timetable, but rather we were there to marvel at nature when she wanted to show off a bit. We’re so lucky to have the islands in our backyard, and this was certainly a great introduction to them. Thanks for an all-around great experience.

The trip was better than expected and the crew made it even better. Sean and Byron were our guides and part of the crew. I can’t say enough what a great job they do. The off leash side is very short, because this really shouldn’t quality as a “beach”. Lots of pools over good a distance. Plenty of temp options. People were cool. Was there on a Wednesday in AM. Parking was filling up by 9
Trail is moderate and could be slippery when wet. Roughly 2.5 miles round trip. When hiking up the last sign to the trail was missing. Look for the water on right with white algae. Warm to touch. The trail crosses here and foes up to the springs. If you follow the pipe it will take to to another “capped” hotspring. You can see on my google map picture.
Highly recommend a warm soak if you have some time. Great gem close to town.

This is a shaded hike with fantastic peek-a-boo views of the Santa Barbara coastline. The hike is easy most of the time but does require some scrambling across boulders and occasional crossing over the creek. The hot springs are enjoyable but often crowded. They are shallow and smell of sulphur but relax the muscles. If you enjoy natural hot springs (no chlorine and sitting in a sandy and rocky natural creek bed) it’s worth a visit to soak in multiple pools of varying temperature. All uphill on the way to the springs, then all downhill on the way out. Parking is challenging, so arrive early or plan to add time to your hike by parking farther away and walking to the trailhead.

Earlier you go the better. Was able to get a nice pool all to myself. Hike up is definitely challenging but so worth it. One of my favorite hikes now. Took about an hr from parking lot to the hot springs. Parking is not the best but I parked down the street from the main parking lot so maybe 5-10 min walk. Highly recommend 👌🏽was not too crowded for a Wednesday morning although there was a lot more people coming up as I headed down around noon. Excellent hike! Doesn't go to an overlook/peak per-se but you can see the ocean in the distance straight through the gorge when you get high enough. The beginning is fairly easy and shaded but it becomes rocky and steep the higher up you go. You can see several smaller waterfalls along the way, but the main San Ysidro Falls weren't very prominent during our visit due to a lack of rain recently. The kayaking was so much fun, we booked a second tour two days later. Meredith was a great kayaking guide, and the sights did not disappoint!

Great hike can get rather challenging! The top view is very nice, good place for a picture and plenty of room to stand. Trail can get narrow very difficult to make it to the top with a bike. No real creeks at least when I went August 2019. Make sure you research the parking before hand, very limited street parking. Also make sure you look closely at the maps there is one fork that can be confusing somewhat early on the trail, not really labeled the best but it is well maintained. Loved it will go back when in the area. Also went early as it can get hot in the afternoon.

The trail is about 4 mile front and back with 900 ft elevation gain. The path is really well maintained and gently sloped so going up 900ft elevation gain wasn’t too bad except today is hot and the trail has no shade. Whats surprising is that there aren’t many wild flowers. The photos I took is really all there is! (For example, we went to Arroyo Verde Park trail at Ventura and the trail was full of wild flowers). The view at the very top of the entire Santa Barbara is quite cool, but since the town is far away, the view can’t be consider spectacular. Along the way, there is no view of the city. Just a lot of nature which is good but not extraordinary. Note also about a mile of the way is paved which is great.
