Bar
Pub 28 is a charming and cozy watering hole located in Zamalek, Cairo. Established in 1974, it has become a favorite among locals and residents of the island. The pub exudes a warm and rustic ambiance reminiscent of an English pub, with an intimate feel that attracts old regulars for drinks and snacks. With vintage decor, live music, and friendly staff, Pub 28 offers a diverse menu of international dishes along with a selection of beers and cocktails.
Truthfully if you're a foreigner, of course the locals are going to look at you with curiosity but don't let that ruin your day. The restaurant is dark, no windows and with some smoke inside. But great food and drinks. Clean bathroom, easy to access and good service. Definitely recommend.
Lidia L — Google review
Best of this restaurant is only the atmosphere. Very relaxing. Classic old songs. About the food, the beef cubes are just good but it should be served with side dish not plain as it is. Caesar salad is something else not caesar and the chicken was burnt. The spring rolls are tasty. Service could be better. For me, it's average or less. Not recommended.
Amal M — Google review
The staff was very rude and unprofessional. The place was half empty, yet they told us it was fully occupied. To make it worse, when another group asked if there were any available tables, a different staff member told them yes.
Hisham J — Google review
A very cool little pub, with a cozy, warm atmosphere. You can find nice quiet times for a cold one and some fulfilling snacks, or show up during its peak hours to enjoy a pleasant crowd and vintage music.
J.S. ( — Google review
We walked into an empty restaurant around 5:45 PM, only to be told the seats were “reserved” (for two hours later), then shuffled around before being grudgingly allowed to sit. Service was disinterested and borderline rude. The menu was uninspiring, so we just had drinks. My wife ordered an Old Fashioned — it was on the menu — but the bartender later claimed they “don’t make” them. Not sure why they didn’t want to serve her an Old Fashioned 🤔I had a Heineken, she settled for the same, and we still tipped generously despite the poor treatment. Total was 332 EGP + 100 EGP tip (about 33%). If you’re an American tourist (or anyone who expects even basic courtesy and competence), avoid this place. Cairo has far better restaurants — spend your money elsewhere.

Need to rethink management attitude Mr Micheal and owner. Sadly an old favorite place down the trash, haven't been there in 20 years . We were a group of 11 expats , we didn't get even a smile . .. too much fuss about seats, booking set up ...etc ..and we were not a walk in .We were booked 2 weeks ago... We were following the final women football game between England and Spain and it went to penalties and guess what? in the last penalty, the cable goes out!!! we look at the management and they say sorry it's out of our hands!!! Then with the final check, they put in 3 items claiming that my other guests who left earlier, did not pay for them. We paid and we even tipped them. If there was a rating of -1 ... I would give them that. I can't really understand why they would ruin their reputation. We came on a Sunday 7:00 p.m. 40 degrees and already had a booking and half the pub was empty to get shitty service . At booking we were told that there is no minimum charge but we need to order food and drinks which we did - some had a full dinner, others just had a salad and drink etc. And one had his own bottle and paid 800 for it...and then they complain no , you have to pay 1,200 minimum which we refused and therefore we got this horrible treatment. It's disgusting!

This is an awesome little gem tucked away in Cairo. The food here is awesome, has the best creme caramel I've had in a looooooong time. We had drinks here and multiple food items.

Pub
Restaurant
The Cairo Cellar is a unique and historic bar located in the basement of The President Hotel on Zamalek Island. Despite its literal cellar setting, the ambiance is delightfully dark and dim, catering to a dedicated patronage. This retro-chic English-style pub has been a part of Cairo's nightlife scene for many years, offering an intimate and cozy atmosphere with brick walls adorned with vintage posters.
I just want say how much I’ve enjoyed this experience. The staff here is absolutely wonderful—friendly, attentive, and always ready to help with a smile. It truly makes a difference. And the food? Simply amazing. Every dish is full of flavor, beautifully presented, and clearly made with care. You can tell there's real passion in the kitchen. If you're looking for a place with great service and delicious food, this is it. Thank you for such a fantastic meal!
Nur L — Google review
This is a nice place to have a drink and hangout on a Thursday/Sunday night (other nights are pretty quiet). Its set up more for an older crowd (30 and up). Cheap drinks and a nice crowd after midnight. Stays open till about 4am, so take a nap. It's more for the less strict Arabic community and plenty of expats. If your in town for a week or so, buy a bottle and come on both days to drink it. Might be your best option. Get there early if you want a seat.

Great hidden gem in the middle of Cairo, I recommend everyone to try it out, the dress code is very simple just be presentable and avoid wearing shorts. Overall, great service and quality ⭐️
J B — Google review
Very good place with decent food and friendly staff in restaurant. Unfortunately, this time only 1star, bouncers didn't let us in. First, they asked my wife to open her 'shoulder purse' with her things, then they asked to leave it with them during visit!!! Yesterday we were there and had no problems, with the same bag, same people, all of a sudden, today it became a problem!!! Why? They said it's a policy...very strange overnight policy.... Since when women not allowed to have shoulder purse??? I could understand if I bring checkin bags with me etc!! ...later some supervisor came and kind of sorted all out, but mood was already below zero. Last evening in Cairo was spoiled, we just left. We were not drunk or aggressive and behaved with respect, as we love Egypt. Out of our 5 days Cairo visit that was the first time. Probably bouncer have some personal issues or wanted to show off. I'm not sure. Very disappointing. I'm sure bar will have some default answers, no need for that what is done cannot be undone. PS To be honest, I cannot figure out what is the real purpose of these guys apart of sitting on their bums and annoying visitors? One security is already on entry to hotel and then another two on stairs. What a waste of manhours...

Cafe
Bar
Nestled in the heart of Downtown Cairo, El Horreya Cafe has been a vibrant hub since its establishment in 1936. Built on the historical grounds of Ahmed Orabi's legacy, this iconic spot boasts a lively atmosphere with its bright lights and high ceilings. Open from afternoon until the early hours, it attracts a diverse crowd ranging from artists and poets to students from nearby universities.
60 EGP / £1/$1.20 PER 500ml BEER. They DO NOT serve food. Just beer. If you're a tourist and want a nice, safe and local way to spend a part of your evening I can't recommend this place higher. Just beware the area where you can drink beer is smoking ONLY. (You can't drink beer in the non-smoking section). As these are the rules you can choose to visit or not to visit but if you do decide to go just bear this in mind. You will be shown to seats when you arrive which may feel jarring as you don't get a choice but as seats and tables open up you can move. Inside are locals and tourists enjoying beer for as long or as little time as you like. The waiter is very friendly and regularly walks around carry beers and tapping on then for more rounds, just raise your finger and you'll get another beer. When you're done, just signal to pay and he'll show you the total on a calculator. Just make sure you keep track of your beers but there are no tourist prices here. Overall a great time and place I would gladly recommend.
Marcel M — Google review
We loved the down to earth reality of this local pub. Here everyone is treated equally, and kindly. You can drink beer only in the smoking area but doors are open so it is generally well aired. When you finish, the waiter comes around with beers at hand and shows you the bottle and opens it only if you hold your hand towards it or nod. You can get food from the next door restaurant (we got aubergine, fries and falafel and they were all tasty) or chips from the buffet, or bring along a snack and it will be fine. Enjoy your time in downtown Cairo with cheap beer in this local gem.
Jade E — Google review
No food is served but you can bring snacks such as you peanuts or a sandwich. The beer price is very good compared to any other place. Lower your expectations bar and you gpnna be really happy 😂
Mina A — Google review
It's a great place for a very cheap beer or a dozen. Very crowded, almost everyone is smoking, it's not quiet by all means. But still recommended if you want to chit chat with your friends or have a beer. The place doesnt serve food at all by the way
Abdelrhman E — Google review
Lovely place, atmosphere and people! The place serve just beers and the waiters bring you the next one before you finish the previous one!!!!
Michalis G — Google review
Perfect bar to drink beer. Not more, not less. Only beer. Nothing else.

🌟 Chill spot in Downtown Cairo – Café El Horreya This place has old-school vibes and lots of character. No food on the menu anymore, just drinks: Stella Di beer 🍺 Tea, coffee, and sodas ☕ It's super popular with expats and tourists because it’s the cheapest place around for a Stella. You’ll meet all kinds of people here — locals, travelers, artists, students — a real mix. Gets busy on Thursdays and Fridays, but you can usually find a seat. One thing I personally love: you often end up sharing a table with strangers (because of the crowd), which leads to random convos and meeting new people. Feels very social, in a chill way. They open after 4 PM, and close on major Islamic holidays like Mawlid and Eid Eve. If you're looking for something laid-back, affordable, and full of Cairo energy — this is it. لو حابب تعدل أي جملة بطريقتك، أو تضيف حاجة معينة بتعجبك في المكان، قولي وأنا أضبطها لك فورًا.

My friend who grew up in Cairo took me here as it’s one of the oldest pubs in the city and presents a cross-section of everyday life in the city. Beer, coffee, cigarettes and tea - it’s a great exposure to another side of Cairo and I loved the people watching

Bar
Cap D'or is a classic bar located in Downtown Cairo, offering an authentic local ambiance and a place where locals gather. It's known for its long-standing history and the opportunity to enjoy classic whiskey while listening to traditional music. The bar doesn't serve food but offers complimentary cucumbers, Rocca leaves, lupin, and beans. Visitors appreciate the reasonable prices and the availability of beer on tap. The atmosphere is described as pleasant with sing-along music playing in the background.
Old-school, dark and smokey bar with lovely staff. It’s pretty quiet in the afternoon but get stuffed in the evenings. Makebsure to arrive early in order to get the true Egyptian nightlife experience. Good selection of beers and complementary bar snacks (vegan friendly).
Beni S — Google review
Checked it out cos it is just opposite the hotel I stayed. And old school bar. Came in a day earlier and it was packed. Returned the next day at 5pm. It was quite empty. No happy hours beer. But the beer prices are good to be considered as happy hours. It comes complimentary with generous amount of peas as snacks. Worth checking out if you are around this downtown area.
KF Y — Google review
Very fine bar for some beers and snacks! We just had dinner and we were open for a beer downtown. This place catchted my eyes and got seated very quickly. We ordered some nice Stella beers and big portions of lupine beans, fava beans and some greens came on the table. We drank quite some beers that evening. The atmosphere is good, with nice classic sing along music in the background. I liked the bar and the price is very reasonable too!
Sander V — Google review
Prices very reasonable very soft music and service was excellent Location very good and restaurant very near
GOLDEN T — Google review
Nice atmosphere and location, staff are welcoming and friendly, I didn’t try food there but they offer some free meze dishes along with the drinks like some fresh cucumber or carrots, salted lupine or spicy beans.. They serve the usual Egyptian liquor the same bottles and cans as you buy it from the liquor stores, prices are average, they don’t offer the 20% and 15% drinks.. The place is welcoming all kinds of people, good 90’s and 80’s music also.. They only bad thing there it was a very hot sumner day and the place was so crowded full of people in the weekend and it’s big place with high ceiling and they don’t have a good cooling system, only a few small fans that did nothing and no AC, they should really give attention to that point, we were literally melting inside.
Ahmad F — Google review
They told us we could stay only until 10 PM, which we agreed to. But when we asked to stay just a bit longer — until midnight — they suddenly refused to serve us at all. No warning, no compromise. And the worst part? We had to walk out and leave our half-full drinks on the table. Did they offer not to charge us for the drinks we didn’t finish? Of course not. They couldn’t care less. It was all about squeezing money out of us, then pushing us out the door. Zero professionalism, zero hospitality. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone. Total rip-off and a seriously unpleasant experience.
Aya A — Google review
Chanced upon this bar during our stay in Cairo. It’s a small place that screens sports (mainly football :)). They have a. Decent selection of alcohol and are priced well. What I found most innovative here is that they can get you bar snacks or short bites from restaurants or food carts next door at a small fee and you can sit down here and enjoy them with your drink. It worked for us coz we are vegetarians and they were able to get us fries and falafel from a shop close-by since they didn’t have it on their menu. Another interesting thing is they give you complementary nuts and some greens to munch on !! Their service is very prompt and they keep clearing empty glasses and tissues without asking.
Yondering B — Google review
Hands down one of the worst bar experiences I’ve ever had. The waiters were literally fighting over us like we were some kind of prize – not because they wanted to give good service, but because they were desperate for tips. Even though there were plenty of empty tables, they wouldn’t let us sit unless we paid them directly. Insane. They told us we could sit at a table only until 10 PM, which was weird enough, but when we wanted to stay longer (the bar wasn’t even full!), they flat-out refused to serve us anymore. We had to leave with half our drinks still on the table. Unbelievable. If you want to feel unwelcome, hustled, and rushed out the door, this is the place for you. Otherwise, steer clear.

Café Riche, located in Downtown Cairo, is a renowned restaurant and bar with a rich history dating back to its establishment in 1908. It has been a popular meeting place for intellectuals, revolutionaries, and prominent figures in modern Egyptian history.
This iconic placed opened in 1908 and has some attached Foreign Press Association drinking den. You can get Egyptian fare from a friendly blue-costumed waiter. Prices OK- mid-range 200-400 mains. Tasty chips. Inordered roast chicken and veg- tasty. The atmosphere is perfect if your love is 19th century timewarp cafes where you can even smoke at the table. Wunderbar!

Old school place with maintained classic charm. Unpretentious but classy. Super friendly and accommodating staff. The musaka is excellent and is now probably my favorite dish in Egypt although I certainly lack experience with Egyptian cuisine. They maintained good service despite a huge group of 20 showing up without a reservation while I was there. Definitely would recommend serving the lemon artichoke with salt and olive oil though. It drastically enhanced it. Honestly would put it on it before sending it out. The world needs more places like this. It's excellent.
Bren B — Google review
Café Riche is probably a century-old iconic café, once a gathering spot for many literati and intellectuals. We ordered three kinds of pasta and roasted chicken. The pasta was affordable and came in generous portions. -9/1/25
詹頤 — Google review
I don’t understand why such a wonderful, traditional café is so poorly managed. They should keep it cleaner and create a more organized atmosphere. They don’t accept cards, only cash. The waiters were friendly, but the manager or owner was not. A bottle of local Egyptian beer costs 160 pounds, which is about 3 dollars. Overall, it was a disappointing experience.
J J — Google review
I recently visited a café that left a lasting impression on me. The staff were exceptionally welcoming, attentive, and always served with a genuine smile, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. The quality of the food and drinks was outstanding, from freshly brewed coffee to perfectly crafted pastries, showing real care and consistency. Every detail reflected high standards and passion. The overall vibe was cozy yet vibrant, with soft background music and tasteful décor that made it ideal for both relaxing alone or meeting friends. It’s the kind of place that makes you want to return again and again.

I have been in this historic cafe three times up to now . It's one of my favorite in Cairo .. The food is good ,but sometimes they do not have items in the manure. The cafe is friendly to tourists , they need to increase the number of waiters during some busy shifts to expedite the service . I commend a waiter named Ahmed .

Le Bistro is a great place to go for a drink and some good food. The atmosphere is really nice, and the staff are very friendly. The prices are also very reasonable, making it a great choice for budget-minded visitors. In addition, the live music makes it an enjoyable experience even if you're not a fan of jazz.
One of the best places in downtown Cairo , lovely and cozy 🥰 Staff are very friendly & professional.. Prices very reasonable 👌🏼 The food is just awesome and delicious 😋 Pasta is so yummy👌🏼 Sausage and liver was super good and delicious like no place ever, tried it as appetizers
Asmaa N — Google review
I ordered liver and sausages then I got the beef with mushroom sauce and vegetables. The introductory bread was good and freshly baked I think (it was warm and fluffy from the inside). The liver and sausages with tahini sauce were amazing, the spices and recipe were on point. The beef with mushroom sauce was good but wasnt that great. The beef was cooked properly but the mushroom sauce was lacking some taste. The veggies were good. I was disappointed that the french fries were obviously not homemade and just deep fried like fast food restaurants even though this meal is expensive. The decor and music were good the tables and utensils were old and needed updating. Also, I came at 11.30 thinking they close at 2 am then turns out they close at 12, but the waiter made sure that I take my time and didn’t even mention it until I brought it up. Recommended if you are looking for a calm restaurant with good French food.
Osama E — Google review
All the best bits from the 80s. Sadly including the smokey atmosphere. But the food, wine and service make up for this. Can recommend most of the menu having dined here twice in group of 3. The steak and duck cooked exactly to order. Clean bathrooms and the option of a bar next door.
Melissa R — Google review
Everything was perfect, romantic atmosphere , A nice gentleman serving us, the smell of the fresh bread , the starters and the appetizers was liver and sausage was so juicy and tasty and the main dishes was Beef medailion sauce (mushrooms for me and pepper for my wife) unfortunately there was no place in our stomach for dessert.

Had a very bad experience, we ordered the lemon fillet with sides of potatoes, veggies and white rice. All dishes were extremely bad!! The fish wasn’t fresh with a very bad smell coming from the fish and the sauce. All the side dishes were unseasoned and definitely not fresh!!

Carol's Bar and Grill is a cozy and friendly place to grab a drink with your friends. It has a nice atmosphere and provides excellent service.
My all time favourite bar since I first knew about it about 5 years ago . The cozy place and aesthetic vintage decorations makes it feel original and ancient. A good place to grab a cold one with friends and a good place to drink a bottle with the special someone. It gets a bit crowded in weekends though so you might need to call and get a reservation and there might be a minimum charge. They have happy hour drinks and snacks. So it's worth a try

Decent and well located bar in Cairo with reasonably priced drinks. I had the red wine sangria which did not taste particularly fruity and was overloaded with rum. Space has a lot of potential but unfortunately when we were there in mid January it was somewhat ruined by the tacky Christmas decorations still up. There was a feint smell of lingering smoke however because we were there soon after opening with not that many people it was not that bad. Also staff were not particularly attentive and took a long time to take our order despite it not being busy.

Carol’s has been my always to go spot for me and my friends in the weekend, a very vintage vibey place in the middle of downtown, all of their food is SO SO good and THE PORTIONS ARE AMAZING, I highly recommend trying the hawawshi! Staff is so friendly and service is amazing!

A fun stop to relax after a day touring Cairo or after work. A mix of locals and tourist. Opens at 5pm. Happy Hour from 5-7. Happy Hour prices have increased this year. A Stella beer is 100. After happy hour it is 120. A great staff. We only had falafel here as we had recently eaten. It was excellent. Pleasant music playing. It gets very crowded so you may want a reservation. Note: 300 per person minimum spend is required. Charge cards are accepted.

Amazing amazing bar, prices are insanely affordable, service is good, bar bites have a good selection, music is fab (local drinks only) great atmosphere. Reservation is required (we got it on bar without one but those were last two seats) minimum spend 300pp

As much as love this Bar, the atmosphere, the music, the vibes, I love Carols, I have been regular here for a over a week when I was visiting Cairo, but last night something bad happened which I wasn't even suspecting, the one staff guy, gave me the bill Nd i counted the cash and put it in Jar and let him know and I waited for 10 mins, but as soon as i was walking out, i wasn't even drunk enough, he came up to me and said i have put 200 le less which i was surprised to because i counted it and gave to him and he counted it too, but still I thought maybe i got confused with currency and paid 200 more. I counted money from ATM later and it was 200 less and I knew for sure that The Carol Bar scammed me for 200 pounds. Tbh it aint much but its the trust i had in the bar, from now I'll be careful and you should be too.

The hotel is a colonial-style hotel filled with antiques. The rooftop terrace offers guests a panoramic view of Cairo and the ancient Egyptian pyramids. The hotel has an Egyptian elevator that is the oldest in the country.
A good place to chill and grab a drink. It’s an old authentic hotel, in the middle of a very local area, bit weary but has good vibes. Bartender says it’s the oldest hotel in Egypt (not sure). Great service. Fair prices. Haven’t tried the food nor the hotel itself.
Yara E — Google review
The location is really good and the building is fascinating and full of history. The sounds of crooked wood and the smell of old furniture is irreplaceable. BUT it needs to improve its facilities. -It may take up to 10 minutes to get hot waters, depends on which floor you're in -We stayed for 3 days and nobody cleaned and maintained the room. -The breakfast is awful - we received dry bread with jam and terrible coffee and moldy fruit -As for any downtown cairo hotel, it is noisy. If you wish for a more quiet stay, try Zamalek I would recommend visiting the barrel bar on the first floor which is charming but not staying unless you don't have any other option.
Guy C — Google review
The pub has an authentic feel to it with the classic style, the artwork and newspaper articles from different countries and years showing the world how old Egypt used to be like. The staff was very professional and the place was lit with just enough lighting. The menu had everything from food to hard drinks and cocktails. The price wasn't too bad but it wasn't great either, but I guess you can't be that good and super cheap at the same time.
Fadi F — Google review
Lots of character and very friendly staff with a welcoming host family. Drinks in the bar in the evenings a highlight. Excellent chef with well priced food. Tricky to find and ancient plumbing are drawbacks but outweighed by the experience.
Nigel C — Google review
A very nice bar they have, if you are in to vintage atmosphere, you will love it. It used to be the English officers club during WWI, and almost as is since then. The alcohol they offer is what you would get in Cairo, mostly local not imported.

We loved The Windsor Hotel. We choose it because of location and its history. We met the owner Mr Doss, super nice guy and we loved hearing the story behind the hotel. The Barrel Bar on the 3rd level is quirky and a nice space for a cold beer. We had dinner here. It was nice but breakfast is bad. Don't bother. Head out and buy falelel and foul from a street side cafe instead. Our bed was super comfortable and greatly appreciated after a big day of walking. There's no tea/coffee making facilities in the room which was disappointing. There's no fridge in the room. This would be great for cold drinking water in the summer. Also no safe in the room. The AC was good and working well. The hot water takes a good 15minutes to come through the shower so just turn it on before it's needed. The staff are absolutely amazing in The Windsor. They were so helpful and friendly. We thought we'd go back here if we need to be in this area but if not then we'd probably stay over in Zamalek as we like the cafés there. But definitely recommend The Windsor. It's a great experience
Bron S — Google review
We had a really lovely stay at The Windsor. An old colonial looking place with rooms to match. The breakfast is a little basic, as are some of the utilities in the place (elevator, switchboard, etc) and the hot water takes about 10mins to come through to the shower, but all very quaint and authentic. Service is excellent and the staff really helpful and pleasant.
Martin S — Google review
nice decoration, the hotel dates back to 1893, but it seems nothing has changed ever since! the switchboard for sure, and the elevator too, manually operated...! Good and bad, convenience and inconvenience... Good for tourism, forget it if you travel for business

Stella Bar is a laid-back and cozy local spot located in the middle of downtown. It has a down-to-earth vibe and attracts a diverse crowd, from young musicians and artists to regulars, backpackers, and interesting characters. The bar offers ice-cold Stellas for 25LE along with complimentary side snacks like cheese, tomatoes, cucumbers, and leafy greens.
Awesome place with a lot of history! Would love to come back again, and very close to everything downtown! Beers are 40LE and at night you get a plate with some veggie appetiZers and cheese.

Haha this place gets two stars only for the fact that they serve beer in the first place. Worst service and attitude...not to mention watching two bartenders and servers argue and tell you to wait as they push one another

Great local bar with a down to earth vibe. Full of regulars, backpackers and some interesting characters. Cheese, tomatoes, cucumbers and leafy greens served for free alongside your beers. Small and crowded, tiny bathroom. Worth the visit!
Kendra S — Google review
Local old bar for cheap cold beer (Stella & Heineken only), crowded with old people most of the time. Does its purpose only, no further services or advantages. The bathroom is a tiny unisex cabinet, most people wouldn't fit in. Request your side cucumber, salted cheese or whatever they have at the time.

Hossam H — Google review
One of the oldest most authentic bars in Cairo. You can feel the history embedded in the walls, the atmosphere, the waiters serving you. Even the clients. The place is so small and cozy you can letraly hear every conversation going around you. They welxome expats and egyptians but you must respect the culture. Most of the clients are old people living around the area and hipsters just want to enjoy cheap local drinks
Eslam E — Google review
3 Canadian girls stopped by for a beer before getting some dinner in Cairo on a Sunday evening. Not a full bar- I think they may just sell Stella (37EGP for 500ml) and a couple of other beers, but a fun place to hang out for a few hours (a number of women and young people). It feels like a scene out of the 90's with the smoking indoors and dark lighting.

The Happy City Hotel is a great choice for travellers looking for a relaxing and off-the-beaten-track bar experience in Downtown Cairo. With drinks and snacks arriving with complimentary flatbreads, baba ghanoush and cheeses, this rooftop bar is perfect when exploring the city. In the central bar area or amongst some quiet nooks, you'll be able to relax and enjoy your time in Cairo.
Simple and discrete drinking spot on 7th floor.

The rooftop is really crowded on weekends. The view is good but honestly I’ve seen rooftops with better views in downtown. The food was and drinks were good and the service was fine. The bathroom wasn’t clean but I guess because the place was crowded when I visited.

Location is great and the service is good, one of the best roof tops in town and the prices for everything include the service and tax so you pay exactly what you see in the menu still prices are good compared to any other Mazza is for free, a cherry on the cake

Pizza restaurant
Olivo Pizzeria & Bar in Zamalek is a cozy and intimate spot perfect for a romantic night out or a couples' dinner. Despite its small size, the pizzeria offers excellent service and delicious pizza. The place is known for its sumptuous Sangria cocktails that set the mood for a lovely evening. If you're an adventurous foodie, Olivo offers an authentic Italian culinary experience with mouthwatering pizzas crafted amid a classy ambience.
Cozy vibes and excellent service. Their pizzas are so good too and are always fresh and full of flavor. They don’t have cocktails on the menu, but they can make a few of them upon request.
Noha D — Google review
Olivo is a small Pizza & Bar which I discovered years ago. It’s next to two hotels in the disttict Zamalek of Cairo. Olivo has two spaces, a dimly lighted indoor space with bar, high tables and chairs sitting and an outdoor space with an outdoor bar, a long bench & chairs. The menu have small plates, salads, pizzas, cakes and dessert options. There is also a wide selection of alcoholic beverages besides soft drinks. I usually prefer to order pizza and salad and I can attest that they are really successful with pizza. At the first bite you will instantly taste that quality and tasty ingredients are used at Olivo. The taste of the salad could be enhance by using a more delicious x-tra virgin olive oil. My favorite pizza is '4 Stagioni' with mozzarella, olives, mushroom, artichokes, smoked turkey and olives, which I remove because personally I prefer olives soaked in olive oil to olives soaked in brine. Judging by the price segment and location next to hotels with international audience the service leaves much to be desired. Olivo did not leave the impression that customer dialogue, customer service and customer satisfaction were a priority. Yes, taste good, but is it done? I cannot say that there is the 'indispensable' customer communication which is common in the service sector. This approach is unfortunately not available at Olivo, which tells me personally a lot about Olivo's approach to its customers: Come-eat-pay-bye bye 👋🏻 The net prices are already in a higher price level, plus 14% taxes and 12% service, It is a small, cozy place aimed mainly at international travelers and hotel guests. With this awareness, I recommend that you make your choice pro or contra Olivo.
Şengül A — Google review
I recently visited Olivo in Zamalek while on a trip from London , and it truly exceeded my expectations. The atmosphere has that perfect balance of chic and cozy, making it an ideal spot whether you’re going for a casual evening or a special night out. What stood out most was the impeccable service. Ahmed, our waiter, was outstanding – warm, attentive, and genuinely hospitable without being overbearing. He anticipated our needs, offered great recommendations, and made us feel welcome throughout. His professionalism and friendly attitude added so much to the overall experience, and you could tell he genuinely cares about guests enjoying their time.
Sherif E — Google review
This was not our first time at this nice little restaurant and we had the same great experience… the place specializes in pizza and they have perfected it … their pizza is thin and large enough for sharing … but I wouldn’t suggest that cause you will definitely want to keep every piece to yourself 😊

A beautiful open air pizzeria, hidden by tropical plants, with great local wines on the menu! Much enjoyed by this South African!
Seth D — Google review
Hands down the best pizza I’ve had in Cairo so far. Made fresh inside and you can watch the magic happen. Thin crust, good quality cheese, light tomato sauce that isn’t too acidic. Really great flavor combinations on the menu. Finding this place is a little hard bc it’s inside the entrance to the New President Hotel, and just past a sign for a French bakery. Seating indoor or outside. Indoor seating has a nice intimate feeling. Bar offers drinks specials including white, red and pink sangrias with fresh fruits. It’s always a good night for a tasty pizza and beverage. Thanks O.Liv.O!

Unfortunately i used to love this place and was looking forward to go today till the unfortunate unprofessional person that was there We entered Olivo at 4pm the security welcomed us and never mentioned that the place is closed the garden was empty and no one even noticed we were there had to call call the waiter. And here the shock started we said the place is closed for equipment maintenance we asked how come then he said this is how it is, we were still talking but he left us talking to our selves And went to get a huge ladder and started to do nonsense with the plantes then he removed the Cushions and water the plants while were still seated then he said can you move from here coz I’m working This person looked weird and definitely not sober unfortunately this happened in one of my favourite places in zamalek I will sure not visit again I have attached all the pictures to see the unprofessional attitude

They add stuff u didn’t order and then try to gaslight you. They profile people based on looks and tell some there’s a minimum charge. The staff will try to take the change as a tip and shame you for asking.. after they try to rob you. Also when you arrive they tell you visa is supported but when you refuse to allow them to rob you they say it’s not working and u have to pay in cash.

I’ve stayed at the hotel below the restaurant for the past seven days every single time I go in the restaurant the manager harasses me. The first time I went in he told me that I couldn’t be there because the whole place was reserved. I knew something was up because the whole place was empty. I went down to the lobby to ask someone for help and they walked back up with me and I was able to get a seat. I ate there. The food was awful. The second time that I went up for drinks, he refused me service because he told me that I couldn’t sit in a certain spot and then he told me that I had to leave the restaurant altogether because I was wearing open toed shoes. I don’t know what this guy‘s deal is.

Nestled in the heart of Cairo, Lotus Hotel offers a cozy and unpretentious retreat for travelers seeking an authentic experience. With simple yet comfortable accommodations, guests can enjoy complimentary breakfast each morning before venturing out to explore the vibrant city. The hotel's charming rooftop bar is a delightful spot for a quiet drink, although it has limited seating that creates an intimate atmosphere perfect for small gatherings or solo reflection.
I traveled to different country must of times stayed in 5 star hotel, lotus is 3 star but with 5 star service, Mr ayman very kind and professional the director and morning staff are helpful safe to leave you belongings in the room , clean new rooms we liked everything in this hotel. I would definitely go back. Small request for the hosts please if you can look after the elderly night shift concierge he is 75 yo blind who lives far away from his work place we always enjoyed chat with him before we get in.
Chahrazad G — Google review
Okay let us start with the Entrance, which is so dirty and dusty from the outside to the Building lobby. Then the Elevator, what should I say? Although the Elevator is specific for the "Hotel", it is very old, not maintained, dangerous and scary. The lobby of the Hotel, what to say, there was someone watching football loudly, the game was echoing all around. The guy on the reception was nice, however there was no computer to confirm our reservation via Booking.com. He had to contact someone on the phone. And this is another unsafe act as he also shared our passports info via a Social Media platform with God knows who on the other side. The room was not double as booked. 2 single beds and nothing like the photos on Booking.com. It was not renovated. Maybe the bathroom was done but still not that good. The windows are very old no sound proof. Although it is on the 7th floor, you hear the vehicles as they are in the room. It was one of the Noisiest night I encountered. All night either vehicle or creepy sounds from the old shutter system or sudden bangings from somewhere. Although we booked for 2 nights, we just took our stuff and left to another location. They even didn't bother to ask us why we were leaving. So although the location was a good spot, but it is not worthy the sacrifice.
Roland D — Google review
Do not judge a book by its cover is the best explanation to describe Lotus hotel. At first look from the outside it doesn't seem appealing, you finally get into the elevator and it has no doors and you might be wondering what have i gotten myself into. Just be paitent with it. The staff are extremely humble and helpful. The lady at the front desk is always willing to help and assist. The rooms are really good. Its air-conditioned and anything else you might need you can ask at reception. Its in the heart of downtown Cairo and at a really good price, it has good views form the room. You walk out of the hotel and next door is a bank for money exchange, you are in the heart of downtown and are able to come out at any time and find something to do. You can walk the streets and find a varity of food and entertainment. Would highly suggest staying here.
Ashton B — Google review
No sign board, you won’t be able to find hotel from outside, old building but rooms are good, be careful of elevator. It’s in the heart of city. Everything is near by. Better choose breakfast outside.
Knowledge S — Google review
Do not book through lastminute.com, they had trouble finding our reservation. Besides that, really nice hotel and staff, I really liked my room and the views (112). The staff is really nice and helpful. It’s a bit hard to find the hotel entrance

This is a lovely hotel nestled in the heart of Cairos CBD. The hotel reception is amazing and very helpful. We had a car and guide booked for the pyramids. His name was Ahmed, and he was amazing. He spent the entire day with us and even took us to try out the best local Koshary in Egypt. 🇪🇬The hotel is close to all the shops and gives you a true Cairo experience. Not far from the Nile River , there is a place to exchange your money two 2doors away from the hotel. There is daily breakfast and the dining area is so nice and vintage. I would recommend this hotel to all who are looking for a budget friendly, comfortable, and convenient location. A very satisfied customer 😀 👌 😊
Nadia H — Google review
Very nice people at the hotel. However, it is pretty gross. The beds were really nasty, the sheets were not clean, they had no towels apart from very small hand towels, the building is very poorly maintained, the bathroom was disgusting, it was very dusty. It is not the worst that I have stayed in, but not far off it. If your prime criteria is cheap there are cheaper hotels that are not worse quality. Wifi non existent. It does have a good bar which is has music in the evenings.
