Koshary Abou Tarek is a must-visit for both first-time visitors and locals seeking comfort food in the city. The restaurant has been serving its specialty, koshari, since 1935. This modern Egyptian staple combines rice, lentils, chickpeas, macaroni, and vermicelli noodles topped with a flavorful tomato sauce seasoned with lemon, vinegar, and chili.
A nice experience from the restaurant itself to the excellent service and somewhat the food. Everything was great and food was good. I felt there is more pasta that lentils therefore if you like lentils dont shy off asking for more.

Amazing food, and amazing service. They don't overcharge you because you are a foreigner. They only have kosheri, but this is the go-to place for it. It was crowded, we had to walk up several floors.
This was the first dish we had in Egypt. We had no stomach bug after it. It tastes AMAZING.

I've been here to try the traditional Egyptian dish "koshary." It was pretty good, and you can adjust the sauces according to your preferences . This restaurant has its own festive song that kept being played all along. We sat outside, and it was lovely seeing the people walking while enjoying the meal.

They have a diverse menu of soups, salads, starters, main dishes, barbecues, desserts, and drinks. They serve both vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes. Their non-vegetarian meals come with chicken, lamb, beef, pigeon, and rabbits.
Their food portions are quite filling (Egyptian food in general comes quite heavy). They accept both cash and card payment. They have indoor seating. Service is good especially when the restaurant isn’t very crowded.

Hidden behind an unassuming door is this absolute gem of a restaurant. My partner and I arrived without booking and enjoyed one of the best meals we've had! The restaurant itself is gorgeous and the staff amazing. We had the stuffed pigeon and Veal about el sid style with a couple of side dishes. The meatballs were fantastic. Thoroughly enjoyed it and would definitely visit again. Can't recommend highly enough. Many thanks to all the staff

The bad reviews don’t do this restaurant justice! Extensive Egyptian menu. Excellent service and an atmospheric setting. Food came out very quickly. Some of the dishes could have been hotter. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in Zamalek. Booking essential.

The best place in Kairo Zamalek for breakfast - service & people are amazing. The service is excellent, the waiters welcome you with open arms and you feel completely at ease here. Great local eatery with traditional dishes. Fast service and friendly staff. We went back few time during our week traveling in Cairo.
Zooba tastes good, but the service was slow and unorganized. There was a waiting queue and the people at the tables were also waiting. They got our order wrong twice. We didn't ask to correct it the second time. They don't provide tissues or wet wipes or eating utensils. Overall, it's good taste, cleanliness in the kitchen, which is important for the customers, not necessarily in the eating area. Would visit again, but it's overrated.
We’re hardcore foodies and this was the best food we had in all of Egypt over 3 weeks. Must go!

I recently visited Naguib Mahfouz Restaurant at Khan El Khalili and had a pretty great experience! The food was really good, but there’s a minimum charge of 600 pounds. The highlight for me was the live music, especially the electric violin—I'm not usually into Arabic music, but it was really enjoyable. The waiters were traditionally dressed and super friendly, adding to the authentic vibe. There are two main areas: one for dining, which isn’t too loud, and another perfect for grabbing a drink and soaking in the music. It’s definitely a place to visit, with such a historical feel. Highly recommend!

Bad service, we asked many times for napkins, soft drinks in the cans were expired, there was a delay with food and couldn’t figure out which orders they delivered , definitely not the place to visit when is busy. Communication with personnel was challenging 🤣 and they were trying to overcharge at the payment. Better not to visit. They offered us a course at €60 each person which when we asked around the charge should be €20 😅😅😂
A hidden gem in the middle of Khan El Khalili bazar. The atmosphere is very authentic and the staff adds that extra notch to really make you feel welcomed. The food is traditional Egyptian food. The service is fast and efficient. They will always try and accommodate and changes to the meal, in case there is something you do not like. In our case they replaced the rabbit for chicken and changed the green sauce to a nice traditional tomato dish. I would highly recommend a visit if you are in the area.

This is a chain restaurant with very efficient service and tasty food:-) it's fast and filling - good place to experience traditional meal called Koshary. They provide four different sizes of the same meal. I usually go for medium which is large enough. The dish costed 1 Euro including a drink.

It is very bad experience in this branch ,I Don’t recommend it . I went there last month , we were 3 families ,the waiter put 2 tables together but 3 of the kids (teenagers) they want to sit together so they take one table far from us , then waiter came to us and said you have to take only one more table we were 7 people remaining and he separate the two tables which he connected and give us 7 people only one table,the hall was almost vacated but he insisted 7 people to take only one table . The staff is not cooperative ,not nice with customers,not even smile to the customers.
I went there because I used to go their branch in Albarsha in Dubai the staff in Dubai always nice , cooperative,always smiling to the customers.

About Al-Tahrir koshari ، it is a small place which is extremely crowded, we had to wait for sometime to get our table .
The service is fast, like really fast. Our food was out in less than 5-7 minutes of ordering. It is not really like eating street food because it is a sit down place which looks "relatively" clean.
We didnt have any stomach issues after eating here, so worked for us.
There were 2 sauces to add to the Koshari, the Lemon and garlic sauce and the spicy sauce. The Spicey sauce at this place is awesome extremely hot one so be careful if you are not a fan of hot hot chilis . I added a lot to my meal and enjoyed cleaning my plate 😂.
One small portion is almost all you need as a full meal and you can ask for extra bag of crispy fried onions , you have to pay extra little bit of money.
It was inexpensive, a meal for 3 cost around 110 EGP.
The place is Air-conditioned and No-smoking, which was really nice for a change. People smoke everywhere in Egypt, including 5 Star Hotels, Cafes etc. A guy sitting at a near by table lit a cigratte and a server immediately stopped him, which was great.
Highly recommended and we will visit again.

With multiple outlets, it's known for its street food eatery serving dishes like Tamiya, Humus, Besara, Foul, Tahini, Babaganouch and grilled eggplant. The restaurant also boasts a wide selection of drinks and an authentic setting that provides an extraordinary experience amidst the grand Islamic structures in old Cairo.
Felfela is considered an upscale restaurant, and even the basic dishes here are of excellent quality. We all agreed that their flatbread was the best we had ever eaten, and it was here that we truly fell in love with falafel, the classic Middle Eastern delight.
We ordered:
• Foul Eskandaryany – In Egypt, foul refers to stewed fava beans, seasoned with cumin, lemon juice, and olive oil.
• Mixed Grilled Platter – A perfect combination of beef, lamb, and chicken, grilled to perfection: tender, juicy, and full of flavor.
• Grilled Pigeons – Almost every article about Egyptian cuisine recommends trying this dish, so of course we had to give it a shot. But at the end of the day, it’s still pigeon — little meat, lots of bones, somewhat tricky to eat, and the flavor was just average. I doubt even a Michelin-starred chef could make it taste amazing.
We wanted to order desserts — Om Ali and homemade yoghurt. The waiter suggested we order them after finishing the main courses. When we finally did, we waited a long time only to be told they were out. That definitely deserved a “frog face” from us.
As I mentioned earlier, both the basic dishes and the meat sauces we tried were above standard, and pairing them with the flatbread or white rice was pure enjoyment. In fact, even eating just Felfela’s flatbread or rice on their own would not disappoint.
Egyptian restaurants seem to have an unspoken rule: everything ordered at a table is served at the same time. Even if the first dish is ready, they won’t bring it out until everything is done, which means every meal involves a long wait. Another quirk is that each table must be served by a single waiter, probably because of how tips are handled. This can be quite inconvenient — if you ask another waiter for something, they will say “one moment” and then disappear, while your original waiter also mysteriously vanishes. -27/12/24

This place converted me to a falafel fan or as the Egyptians call it Ta’ameya, recipe being also a bit different and in my novice opinion the best I have tasted. It was super crunchy on the outside, bright with ground spices and soft on the inside. Perfectly spiced and packed full of flavor. The other stand out were the Veal chops. Food overall really tasty. Fit out a bit eclectic, with fish tanks, bird houses, murals and eclectic lamps. All a little dusty, mysterious and giving off just the Cairo vibes a tourist is after. Where the place falls done is Service. Friendly faces standing around, forgetting items, missing cutlery and taking forever to bring a drink.
Very good food in an amazing building. Tourist vibe does not take away from the experience. Falafel was excellent although lacked seasoning.
Tourists should be aware that credit cards are not accepted and the service charge does not include a tip. Typical Egypt…
Stopped here for a final lunch at the end of our holiday. Without doubt the best falafel we have had (apparently the secret is fava beans instead of lentils). Service very good: friendly and helpful. We Recommend !

Everything was good except service. I waited 5 mins for menu and 15 mins fot dessert. It came from fridge but it feels like they are doing it again. They accept only cash and i didnt know that. I must admit, I had high expectations for this pizza place, but it fell short of my expectations. The pizza was bland and the crust was thick and unappealing. It was a complete disappointment.
On the bright side, the service was excellent. The waiter, with white hair and a thoughtful demeanor, took care of everything except for the pizza.
The lasagna was okay, but not as good as the pasta at the nearby O’s. The salad was average, with a small portion and a high price.
Despite these shortcomings, there’s still a chance I’ll visit again.

The food is delicious, but there are definitely better pizzas and pastas elsewhere. The pizza crust is very, very thin. The price is overpriced; you can eat much more elsewhere for less. It's only good to try once, no more. The place is cramped, and sometimes sitting with a moderate number of people is uncomfortable.
I loved the place and its vibe. The staff is friendly and your order comes fast. The pizza is amazing! I’m not a pizza loving person. But this vegetarian pizza made me fall in love with it. It was filled with toppings and the dough is thin so I can enjoy the toppings even more! I also liked the alfredo pizza, but vegetarian is my favorite. Highly recommend if you like veggies! You can also add cheese to it. The prices are very affordable and they include tax(not service). And by the way, don’t order garlic bread you’ll be disappointed. Focus on the delicious pizza!
April 2024: been here more than 10 years ago.quality has changed for the worse. It was the best quality cheese and soft thin Napolitano dough. This is a product place, it should reflect on quality of ingredients. We got 2 medium pizzas. The dough is thin and dry, gauging from -my pizza making days-I think this is a ready-made dough. It was dry and not tasty. The cheese quality is best there is in this high cost market but it is not like before. The tomato sauce is not represented in the taste group of the pizza. The 3 stars are for the dry dough and for that the place has no bathroom 😲 . I'm sure it was not possible to put one for whatever reason, but it is not acceptable to have a sit-down restaurant without a bathroom.

Long waiting list especially on weekends, but totally worth it. The food preparation took only 10 mins, and all the food tasted amazing. They have a lot of varieties to choose from, and the prices are good. Personally, I liked waraet lahma and hawawshy the most but all food was perfect.
If you visit Cairo and want to try the authentic Egyptian street food, this restaurant is a must-try. It serves local Egyptian dishes in a cozy environment located in one of crowded suburbs of the capital. Molokiya broth and tajeens are amazing. I also liked pasta with liver, salads, and bread. Prices are very reasonable for the quantity and quality. Hygiene is Okay for a "street food", but can be improved.

I really liked the liver meat, the sausages and the lamp served in aluminum foil.
Medium prices, above medium meals. Grilled meat is super delicious. Rice is just amazing feels like home. Pamya was super delicious as well. Sogok wasn't that good, quite disappointing. Grilled liver was above medium. Overall, it's pretty nice but don't even try on weekends and holidays, it gets so competitive for places with very long waiting lines.

I wanted to try chicken hawawshi and choose this place to try it. Very busy and popular restaurant. The young waiter luckily spoke some English and I got my order in, the meal took a while to come, maybe 20 minutes wait. It was a tasty meal, the tahini side dish was nice too. We tried Hawawshi, it’s so delicious, they have a chicken Hawawshi too, service was good, it took them around 15 minutes to get the food. Prices are reasonable, they have indoor and outdoor seatings.
You can tell not too many English speakers come into the area. The sign outside is only Arabic. So make sure to compare the Google pics and you will find it no problem. The people in the area were also friendly and pointed us in the right direction. When we entered we were seated promptly even though it is a small place was full. The menu was only Arabic. But the cashier saw the look on my face and immediately helped us to get what we were there for, Hawashee!
The service was great. Friendly and welcoming. We were four Americans in a small shop in Egypt and felt incredibly welcomed.

Came here after one of the locals said this was a nice Hawawshi place. So we came here and everyone ordered their own Hawawshi. I got mine spicy, I thought it would have spicy sauce but they had spicy peppers. At some point it got too spicy so I removed them. I just got the basic minced meat but my friend said they had some other options. Overall it was solid, the Hawashi bread was a bit tough for me, like I said this was my first time so is it supposed to be like that, I'm not too sure!
The food was good, I ordered the one with beef bacon and cheese and it was delicious! , I got the Side salads , they were okay but not the best! I didn't ask for a spicy one but they put some hot chili pepper in it but that was okay. I didn't expect the portion size of all orders to be all the same so if you are super hungry you might need to order two.

I really like the Tom Yum soup - super tasty! The crispy fried duck was a bit overcooked and dry, and both the fried banana ice cream and banana piña colada were too sweet for my taste. Loved the hibiscus-ginger welcome drink tho, and they even refilled it for me.

The BIRDCAGE is located inside the Intercontinental Semiramis in Cario, Egypt. It is a lovely Thai restaurant. The restaurant is very nice. The service was top Notch by Mohamed Lesayed, and I forgot the name of the lovely young lady who suggested great dishes.
Mr Mohamed was attentive and helpful. He was quite nice to speak with, being that we're visiting.
Our food was magnificent. The shrimped were wrapped in a delicious crunchy cage. 😋 the chicken minced salad had the perfect amount of heat. Everything we ate was good.

Le Pacha 1901 is a renowned dining complex located in the prestigious Le Pacha complex in Zamalek. It offers a variety of upscale dining experiences set aboard a floating boat on the Nile, providing stunning views and an elegant setting.
Piccolo mondo , you get in and find some italian decorations and names of people carved on the walls all around you , you get seated by helpful staff (but you need to have a reservation) , the menu has a wide selection of drinks and Italian cuisine dishes. I ordered seafood pasta and salmon fettuccine and both were very tasty , the best thing about this place is the view by the nile which makes the whole experience blends in together nicely.
If you want a break from the city lights this place is highly recommended .

Piccolo Mondo, nestled in the basement of Le Pasha boat, offers a cozy setting with pseudo "Italian specialties". What a great place! We kicked off our Egypt holiday here and finished it here because Carlo Le Pacha 1901 does everything we wanted. Good beer? Check. Tasty cocktails? Check. Excellent food (both Egyptian and other choices)? Check.
The real winner for us was the combination of all that with a solid shisha/hookah menu and live sports on TV. It's the complete package you struggle to find elsewhere. The vibe is upscale but comfortable. We'll be back on our next trip for sure!

Le Pacha was definitely a great experience in Cairo! The staff was very helpful and friendly, the food amazing and the environment very well organised. The portions were big and fulfilling, and the flavours incredible. Try out the Steak with roquefort sauce, it is a wonderful dish, accompanied with excellent fries! Also, do not forget to take a look around and visit the terrace, as the view of the Nile is beautiful. Keep in mind there is a big staircase to reach the restaurant with no ramps, so it's not for people with reduced mobility.

Le Pacha group is recognized for upscale dining, specialy, Carlos.
However, piccolo mondo was a disappointment. In a basic Italian themed restaurant, you are served high quality EVOO and a fine balsamic vinegar, paired with good quality bread, while waiting for the meal. That was not provided until we asked for it. We received a bowl of stale olive oil, and low quality balsamic vinegar. Compared to other lower caliber Italian themed restaurants in heliopolis, piccolo mondo failed.
Pizza ingredients were good, the expected quality, but the dough was more of chewy bread.
In the end, that was not the anticipated quality while dining in le pacha
Better make a reservation. It was a very pleasant experience with loads of Italian vibes. As if you are sitting inside an old pizzeria in Italy. The menu is varied and the quality of the food is worth the price. We enjoyed a selection of Italian salads, Salami pizza, and Penne Le Pacha. We were quite full and we had no room for dessert after this delicious load of carbs. You get to enjoy a very nice and close view of the Nile since it is located in the bottom floor of the boat. Fit for a date and a casual dining experience.

After trying many of the well-known competitors, I can say that Mandarine Koueider had some of the best versions of most of the desserts offered. I was also pleasantly surprised by their walnut malban, which I did not expect to find there (having only ever seen it in Ali Muhiddin Haci Bekir in Istanbul). Highly recommend loading up on boxes and boxes from Mandarine Koueider!

Hands down the best ice cream in Zamalek—maybe in all of Cairo. I tried the mesteka (fragrant, not overly sweet) and dark chocolate (deep, silky, clean finish): 10/10. Portions are generous, service is quick, and the price was 140 EGP for two scoops—worth every pound.
My number 1 to go for Basbosa in Egypt. I love to buy it Sada (no nuts) and if you can get it with fresh Eshta (fresh cream) it will be sooooo good. Eid Kaak is really good as well (my favorite is Malban) I got also malban with eshta and it was really good. You can get it wrapped really well for luggage but I prefer to carry it by hand. Highly recommended.

We had made a reservation and specifically requested a table by the Nile, but were seated far from it. The tables, plates, and cutlery were not clean. The food was disappointing and not like it used to be — the grilled meats were overly spiced and of poor quality, and both the molokhia and moussaka were below average. We like only hummus and mutable.. Despite this, there was a minimum charge of 1500 EGP per person, which is absolutely not worth it. To make things worse, we were subjected to inappropriate stares and harassment from some guests, and no action was taken when we reported it. We asked to change tables, but were told it wasn’t possible.Not Recommended
Together with my girlfriend and a friend of ours we went to Kebabgy to have great dinner on a lovely early August evening. We went there without a reservation, which wasn't a problem.
We generally love Egyptian cuisine and we've been able to enjoy a great selection of it there.
We'd definitely recommend having the Eggplant Salad, Assorted Oriental Cold Mezzeh, Stuffed Vine Leaves (my girlfriend and I love to travel & eat a lot and those were the best ones we've ever had so far), Mix Grilled and Grilled Vegetables, putting it all in the middle and just share & enjoy!
Also: The freshly baked bread is wonderful and the Guava juice was very good.
The location at the very southern tip of Gezira island, right at river Nile is just amazing. Views are very lovely at sunset and night time.
Service provided by the waiters and all the other staff was very good. There might be some live traditional music performed from 19:00 on.
What you should also expect, is to receive a fairly higher bill by the end of your dinner. If you're looking for a cheap meal, this isn't your place to go. Still, the prices seem to be fair with the quality, service and atmosphere that come with it and the fact that it's part of the next door Sofitel.
If you're aware of that and fine with paying a bit of premium, you'll enjoy your meal a lot!

Amazing evening in a breath taking atmosphere and absolutely delicious food. Service was very warm and attentive . We shared several dishes . Tarb meat, and warak enab and hawawshi were delicious. Konafa for dessert is an absolute must have.

I read a lot about this place and seen videos. I was very curious to try it.
I ordered three dishes, I liked the stuffed vegetables the most, although some pieces were a bit dry. I ordered beef in cumin sauce, which was good, but nothing too crazy. The molokhia is served without rice, as a soup. I didn't like it that much.
My favorite restaurant in Cairo. Loved it so much I came here twice and cried that I didn’t discover it earlier to have every single dinner here. While the dishes may not be photogenic, I guarantee you they are very tender, juicy, flavorful, and generous. I especially appreciated the knuckle soup, the different liver dishes, and the bean soup (the best bean soup I’ve ever had, bold claim I know). They change the menu daily so you can always come back for more. Run don’t walk to Fasahet Somaya!
I visited this restaurant evening. I ordered the beef piccata, green salad, glass noodle rice, and rice pudding. All were excellent. It was delicious. The rice pudding and beef piccata were some of the most delicious meals I have ever had in my life. I will visit you again when I come to Cairo.

The place is small in the most charming and cozy way, with colorful walls and a warm homely atmosphere. The staff and Chef Somaya are wonderful, welcoming, and make you feel at home. We had the Chicken stew with mixture and the Kebab Hilla (slow-cooked beef stew)—both were excellent, flavorful, and felt authentically homemade. The Molokhia and Vermicelli rice were simple but comforting. Overall, I truly enjoyed the experience—it felt like dining with family.

Home cooked market fresh meals! You won’t be disappointed. Skip places like Felfela (for the tourists) and spend your money here instead. Go early at 17h because when the food is gone, the restaurant closes. Absolutely worth it. We got everything that was on the menu and it was delicious.

As a tourist, this place is gold!
We got a Hawawshi (meat in bread which is then baked or fried), a fateera with vegetables like mushrooms, olives and cheese, and also a roll with garlic cream and white cheese.
Although the roll was too heavy for us to finish (gave it to a nearby homeless person), we couldn't stop eating the fateera and Hawawshi. They were spot on and delicious. I would definitely recommend.

For the first time trying fateer i like the taste. They have both savory and sweet one. Also a rare masheltek one. I like savour rolls with smoked mixed however it had waay too much cheese so u can’t taste meat at all. The other one was big enough, although my husband (local) says it is supposed to have more butter and buttery smell. As a foreigner to me it was delicious as it is. Prices are a bit high maybe because it locates in Zamalek? I believe it deserves 25% cheaper compared to local prices here. Service was great and Ahmad was very nice and helpful. Even though they didn’t have tea on their menu he ordered from outside for us. One more note side dips are pretty big and expensive, especially if u wanna try few things it will ho to waste. My suggestion is it can be cheaper and less amount instead to not waste leftovers. I recommend to try it 😍they have different branches all over Cairo

Very subpar food. They claim it’s Egyptian feteer with a twist; they lie. The only twisted thing is the pricing. It’s barely even feteer. The audacity to charge such prices, at least double what a normal feteera should cost. They only open branches in higher end neighborhoods to scam the people. Can’t believe I supported this business.

As good as it gets! Truly authentic and extremely delicious foul & taameya. Right in the heart of downtown, it is a quite simple seating on the sidewalk. Their taameya & foul are exceptional. The service is great, quite fast & friendly and the prices can be tad bit pricey for a foul cart but for the quality & convenience, it is definitely worth it. Totally recommended.

Sure, it's not very high on cleanliness and overall hygiene, but it's usual in this country and I accept it. Besides that, the price was low and the table was covered with food (7 plates in total). Great spot for traditional Egyptian breakfast in Garden City. Foul is good but a spicy a little bit and Falefal don't like the traditional Falefal in Egypt ( you will feel the baking powder inside it ) but it is okay, the seasoning is super spicy 🥵🔥 and it is on everything but is super good.
The fried eggplant is not good for me. The French fries is good because it is warm. The bread is super fresh.

This was my family’s introduction to Egyptian food! They loved it so much that they ate here three times in a row. The two men that cooked and served us were always nice. Honestly the sanitation seemed fine, and no one felt sick after eating.

I recently visited Fishawy Cafe in Khan El Khalili, and unfortunately, my experience was very disappointing. Right when I arrived, I noticed that some people sat down at my table and started singing. At first, I thought they were part of the cafe staff, but it turned out they were just customers like me.
When I asked for the menu, they told me there was no printed menu available. This made it hard for me to know what food or drinks I could order.
At the end of my visit, I was surprised to find out that I had to pay a large amount of money because one of the singers decided how much I should pay. To make things worse, these singers then asked for money for their performance. They didn’t mention this when they first started singing, which felt quite unfair.
Additionally, the noise from street vendors outside made it really hard to enjoy my drink. They were so loud that I couldn’t relax or focus on my time at the cafe.
I do not recommend visiting Fishawy Cafe. You might end up feeling scammed, and it’s unlikely you will have a good time there.

Tripped over this cool cafe in the bazaar. Stopped for a coffee (Turkish coffee) only LE 65 and to refresh with water. A few customers were smoking shisha, so I had a grape one for LE 175. Comfy chairs lined along the alley facing the mob, so you get lots of hawkers, but it’s part of the fun. Didn’t eat here. Waiters have a bitnof a Parisian stiffness- they don‘t take mucking about. They insist you come in and sit down. We ordered three Cokes. When we went to pay, they didn't accept card payments and we were charged 550. There are also people who want to sing to you at your table, even if you say no, they don't stop and ask for money the whole time. Definitely a terrible experience. I don't recommend it.

This is my first time going there, I’ve always heard about O’s pasta and thought it was overrated but when I tried it I felt like it was ok, it is a bit overhyped in my opinion.
It tasted okay but something about it just wasn’t right to me. I couldn’t really put my finger on it but it’s something with the essence of the pasta that I did not like, however, I’m assuming it was a bit oily for my liking. We ordered Sun-kissed Cream Pasta and Pasta Limone, both with chicken. Both had the same taste, they were both average to me honestly and I feel like I could have better pasta somewhere else.
On the other hand, my friend really loved it and she has been there multiple times already. I’ve always heard mixed reviews about the place, so it pretty much depends on your taste in food. It’s one of those places that you have to try and make up your own mind about it.
I’d love to note that, the staff were super nice and polite! They were super nice and had this welcoming energy with their smiles!

Arrived there with no reservation but luckily we managed to find a table, the waiter tried to explain to us the pastas and sauces and when we ordered scampioni he said it has no sauce, but when we got it there was sauce it was just more of a lighter sauce with no cream so maybe they need a more thorough understanding of the pastas? He didn't ask also which type of pasta would we like. we ordered scampioni pasta and mushroom white sauce pasta, the scampioni pasta was to die for. Very light and fresh, the place was buzzing with people and the atmosphere was really nice, the portions are huge. The caprese salad was VERY bland though, and we had to take the rest home, the waiter just left it on the front counter without even mentioning that this bag was ours, i stood there waiting for anything until i asked and he just nodded which was very odd, other than that great food, okay service and decent experience.
I have been going to O’s for eight years now and the quality has remained the same… Fresh, flavorful and delicious! I make sure to stop by for a plate of my favorite, the sun kissed cream pasta, whenever I’m back in Cairo :)

The elevator broke down tho and we had no other option of going down and the manager refused to give me a free glass of wine which was sad.

Very cosy restaurant with reasonable prices serving home made oriental food, Egyptian kitchen, don't expect to have high standards of cooking or service, but it's delicious and well served.
We tried grilled kofta and chicken Fatah, and it's good but not super.
So overall, it's good to try.
Food was great, the koshari and spicy potatoes were delicious. When we arrived it was empty except for one other person (around 6:30). Service was a bit lacking and not overly friendly, but not rude at all. Food came out very quickly. The restaurant itself was a bit cheap feeling, more like a budget diner.

The dishes are kind of disappointing, except for the first soup, it’s authentic and delicious but definitely can’t make up for the rest disaster, the beef smells weird and the skin are hard to chew, meanwhile the shawarma chicken meat tastes also bad. This is a local Egyptian restaurant. I have been to Cairo third time, and first time here. We were the only foreigners there, and the staff was very friendly and clean. (It seems they use disposable utensils for cleanliness and efficiency, but it would be nice if they had more forks and knives.) The grilled food is wrapped in foil, which at first I thought was a delivery service I know. I think it's for heat preservation and cleanliness. The lamb ribs are JMT! The flavor goes well with soju or wine. (They don't serve alcohol)

Let's all agree that Cairo has a serious problem with food. Food is simply BAD here. This evening I ordered a mixed grill meal and a baladi salad from Abu Shakra. Everything about the order was just fine, with two reservations however: rice portion is so small, and the dish presentation was simply primitive (disproportionately big platter, compared to the anemic portions, with scattered pieces of meat and a clumsy little pyramid of rice)
Order came fast and warm directly from the grill, this is a huge plus. The place is relatively clean, but it's also very compact with no exterior view.
Compared to the price tag of $10, it's a good deal, but when put in the context of regional food capitals such as Beirut or Istanbul, with this price odds become a bit different.
5 stars for good taste, speed, cleanliness and helpful staff. Minus 1 star for little portions and bad presentation.

One of the best spots for sushi in Cairo, Sashimi was great and fresh as usual, hoso maki rolls were on point. Shrimp tempura roll was one of my favs. No options for dessert except ice cream.

It is located on the ground floor of the Marriott.
I wanted to eat tonkatsu, but they didn't have any thick meat for tonkatsu that day, which was very disappointing.
I ordered agedashi tofu, tempura moriawase, sushi, pork shogayaki, and soy sauce ramen, and they were really delicious.
I often get disappointed when I eat sushi overseas, but this place was different. And above all, the pork shogayaki was especially delicious.
The total cost was about 2,500 EGP.

- Everything. Ok. Ordered different.
Let's start with appetizers.
We ordered eggplant, cucumber and tomato salad, moussaka. Everything was delicious, but they added too much chicken cube to the moussaka. It made the food look like instant noodles. Edible? Quite. My grilled chicken was delicious, soft and juicy. No complaints.
Overall, the food is good. Like many restaurants in Cairo, nothing unusual, surprising or supernatural. This is a good Egyptian restaurant with local cuisine. If it is essential for you to be greeted, driven and seated at a table, then this is not the place for you. But if you want a delicious meal with a view of the Nile, then choose this restaurant.

This is a beautiful promenade. Perfect for warm sunny winter morning. However the service doesn't match the rest of the experience. I'm usually very easy going and chill with places but this was genuinely one of the worst hotels I ever dined at. Ordered an all american breakfast and it was mid as hell, the eggs were overcooked, the hash browns were undercooked and the bagels are just baked dough. Everything was all over the place and the service was ridiculous. I had to ask for each little thing atleast three times, like my coffee which still hasn't arrived as I write this. If you're planning on having breakfast here, go somewhere else unless you like bland eggs and uncooked hash browns 😊
Worst Experience Ever.
As a Marriott member, never been to a hotel cafe with such poor service. Staff is unfriendly and not helpful. The quality of food is not acceptable. We ordered one creamy chicken soup and one Lasagna. Staff just gave us one set of tableware and placemat, without any confirmation with the customer. When we ask for one more set of tableware, staff is impatient and we feel uncomfortable.
As an international brand, it will be better to provide better training to staff.
The place has a gorgeous garden. It is a nice place for a lovely dinner experience with its luxory atmosfere. Foods are really delicious and the service is beyond excellent. Speacial thanks to Ayman and Mohamad! They were so helpful and smiling. Definietly recommend!!
It saddens me to leave such a review for what used to be my favourite place. Unfortunately, the experience has changed. The staff seemed overwhelmed and under pressure, which affected the level of service. The food quality was disappointing, small portions, lacking in flavour, and overall poor value for money. Even the coffee, which I used to love, was bitter. It’s truly disheartening to see this decline.

I had the grilled chicken skewers, super tender, perfectly seasoned, and cooked to perfection, and the beef shawarma with coriander, an absolute delight full of rich, balanced flavors.
The service is fast, the atmosphere authentic, and the portions generous without being overwhelming.

Hands down The Best cafe in Cairo and dare I say all of Egypt! The warmest and friendliest service made the experience truly special. I recently dined at Algomhoureya Restaurant in Downtown Cairo, and overall, the experience was average. The food was decent, but nothing particularly stood out. I wouldn’t recommend ordering the stuffed pigeon—it was underwhelming and not as flavorful as I’d hoped.
One downside was the service. The waiter seemed to have a bit of an attitude, which made the experience less enjoyable. Additionally, I was disappointed when I couldn’t find a specific soft drink I wanted on the menu, and the staff wasn’t helpful in resolving the issue. I ended up walking about 500 meters outside the restaurant to find it myself.
While the location is convenient, the overall experience didn’t meet my expectations. There are certainly better options in the area.

Nice place to enjoy fresh made pigeon and something you need to try when in Egypt I guess. The pigeon is smaller than expected and doesn't contain a lot of meat. It is still some tender and good tasting meat though. We had some beef too. The place itself looks horrible but that's what it is.
If just the people are nicer, you know what you are paying for and the place is cleaner it would take 7 stars not 5,because this is the best place to pigeons... And sojok.

Taza, located on Dokki's Tahrir Street, is a popular spot known for its diverse menu and affordable prices. The place is very crowded yes and the wait is about 45-60 minutes, but they server the best chicken and beef shawarma I tasted in all of Egypt. And as the name implies the beef actually tasted fresh. I came with my friend and we weren’t disappointed, definitely will come again and recommend.

Is this the worst restaurant in all of Cairo? After having visited 50+ 4 star rated restaurants, this one takes the crown as the WORST. It took 1 hour and 15 minutes before our food arrived, and it was such a poor quality that not even the homeless people wanted it.

December 2021: very popular blue collar and student joint. They have some beef chicken and seafood meals that are worth trying and very affordable. I tried beef shawarma in Burger bun and shrimp in french baguette. The bread is too much in both. Shawarma taste was bland and shrimp was good but just to much bread. So the final verdict is, economical, clean and popular. Try it for yourself.

Quaint and bright cafe near the Egypt Museum in downtown Cairo. We walked past it in the morning and decided to visit for lunch. The beef sandwich was good but it's the chips that was the best. Freshly made with nice seasoning. The banana frappe was okay, I would recommend without cream. With 270degrees of views of the square, it's a lovely spot to rewind and recharge. Their selection of sweets and cakes look enticing as well.

My favorite place! The young chef on the high counter is brilliant! He makes great plates and will ensure you are happy with the food! There are a couple of young men working there who are pleasant and helpful. The older gentleman has an unpleasant attitude. I have dealt with him before. When I asked him to clean the table this time, he just added a plastic cover over the dirty table, so I asked someone else to wait on us.
Fava beans, "shrimp" fries, eggs with basterma with real ghee, cheese, tea, and fresh bread! Don't forget the arugula, salads, lemon, eggplants, and pickled veggies!

Our restaurant was in an alley space, many cats at your feet, some are fighting. The waiters are wise guys, not really interested in serving tourists, they know you won’t be repeating customers. Keep an eye on your bill they do make “mistakes” by overcharging, funny never make a mistake of making undercharging 🤣
You come for the pigeons and experience the real local life, if you aren’t up to that don’t come here. Go to your hotel restaurant 😄

Service: staff didn’t really going to take care of you, and doesn’t speak English well. We are lucky to meet a kind English speaking Egyptian couple who eating there to recommend and help us with our order.
And the waiter still ask for tips and I think the shop overly charged me.
Atmosphere: the shop is located at one end of alley, not easy to find I would say. Not spacious, not very clean. But as a tourist, have to have reasonable expectations visit where you are at.
The ambiance is very raw. You have to sit in the alley or the chairs in small makeshift shops, used as dining area.
Food is good and prices are very economical. They do give complimentary unlimited bread along with green tomato salad and hummus and pickles.
Menu is simple. They serve grilled meat items as their specialty.
You get lots of cats near you when you dine in.
One of my favorites.this is the first place that comes to my mind after I finish visiting Al-Azhar and the other mosques. The taste is always delicious. Prices are reasonable for Kebab. It's crowded but you won't wait too long to sit which is really good. I took my friends there and they were very happy and amazed by the taste of pigeons and tarb. Can't wait to go there again.

The place is just a little local outside resturant, on the street, it's full of local activity and cats, cats are a part of Egypt and they enjoy roasted meats like we do. Simonds It is truly a wonderful place. It is a discovery in the center of Cairo, specifically the famous upscale Zamalek neighborhood. It is a place that holds very special memories for me. They have a different taste in sweets and baked goods, and they have a very excellent staff The design of the place is really excellent and they have wonderful background music that separates you from the noise outside and makes you really enjoy the atmosphere. Their prices are somewhat reasonable. I am truly grateful and nostalgic for this place.

I didn't expect too much of this place. What you see is what you get. Kofta and chicken were slightly dry, but there was decent seasoning on it. Humus and okra were also fine to dip the bread in. Can't expect too much for £9 meal for two people. Amazing value for money. Service was slow and impersonal.
Gad is known for its falafel and traditional Egyptian bites. The food was decent, though service and cleanliness could be improved. A good spot for a quick local meal, but there’s room to elevate the overall experience.
This restaurant is a scam!
We ordered hummus and tehinia. In other restaurants, these will come with bread for free. However, they delivered bread to our table and charged us for bread and said not included. When we told them we didnt not order any bread, the manager simply said "you could ask us to take away the bread from the table instead of accepting the bread". Seriously?!
The service charge and tax were up to extra 26-28% on the bill. Credit card is not accepted here. The staff could barely speak English.

Food taste is good, grilled chicken, shish tawook even their shawarma if only it is not located next to a pet store where bird caged are on the sidewalk and feathers fly by where they prepare your sandwich. It seems to be duplicate locations on the map for the same place.
Edit : I took away one star because of something I witnessed today while waiting for my order to be ready, one worker wearing red sweater came with an empty small pita opened it and with his hand grabs a handful of french fries and stuff the pita then pick up a fry and eat it while talking to grill worker then goes on to the grill picks up a burger and put it in his sandwich and starts eating in the food cooking area.

Be aware you will be over charged. We bought 2 kilo baklava 2 separate containers 1 kilo ( 1000 g ) each. As I arrived home and weighed them to find out there were about 900 gram each box short of 100 gram ( over 3 oz ) in each kilo of baklava. They charged us for one kilo 35 USD dollars..
They tell you the icecreem 75 then when you got it it’s going to 235 it’s like trapped . Peaceful gays Never coming back
My visits to this bakery were uncountable only in a short span of 5 days. Even came here 5 am before my flight to grab some pastries and coffee.

This is an updated to my previous review after visiting the same branch for the second time hoping for the same delicious Kunafa, the one we got this time was a bit cold, not close to the taste of the one we ate the first time.
The place is still recommended but make sure to order Kunafa if it is fresh out of the oven otherwise it is going to be not so great.
Everything was perfect and u can taste before buying. I recommend going early because it can be out of stock after 4 pm I highly recommend it and totally worth it
EDIT: Owners claim this is a fake review. We did order from them as it shows on the pictures I submitted and their logo is on the desserts we ordered. This is truly a terrible way to address bad service and reviews. A ton of good places in Cairo, this is not one of them.

Avoid this place if you are from out of town. We tried ice cream and cappuccino and had an immediate upset stomach... we suspect the milk they used was not fresh. The service was mediocre I had to chase them to get my receipt. The cakes do not look appetizing either... They look almost plastic. We ordered some Arabic sweets to go and these were unfortunately terrible too. This was a one and done type of place.
I was just in awe when I stepped in to Simonds Bakery! I felt like I had won the jackpot in the Land of Oz! Beautiful baked goods, delicious too! And the staff were absolutely amazing!! LOVED Simonds Bakery!!

In my pursuit to find the best foul and falafel sandwiches in Cairo, I have been trying few restaurants around. I came across this big name. It immediately brought lovely memories of the original shop in Corba Heliopolis. I ordered a delivery and waited excitedly. What a disappointment that followed!
The falafel was soggy and sad. It oozed the cold poor quality oil it was fried in. Just one bite of misery and I could not continue.
The foul was not up to any acceptable standard. It did not taste good at all. It was very clear these sandwiches were not made with love.
I had to throw the sandwiches, together with a Cole slaw side salad that was weird.
The only good dish was Om Ali, even though it was cold.
I would never recommend such restaurant for foul and falafel.

The Start
The start was when some brothers of one family thought about establishing a chain specialized in producing and serving Egyptian foods which are featured with authentic oriental taste targeting various classes of the society.
Arabiata launched its first branch in Kourba, Heliopolis, an area with old European style. It had been a small branch called Shabrawi established in 1948. It had been a very simple branch serving distinct oriental foods in the original Egyptian cuisine.
It was not a long time before Shabrawi became famous in Heliopolis and lovers of such foods lined up in rows in order to get their favorite dishes. Hence, an idea was developed to open a new branch in another area to support and continue the Shabrawi trademark. Then, we opened Nasr City branch in the 7th District.
Nasr City branch confirmed the success of Shabrawi and announced the first leading oriental food chain in Egypt. Since then the openings are ongoing and we are look forwarding to continuing in the future.
In 2001, the Company decided to gradually change its name; Shabrawi, to be Arabiata in order to distinguish and develop itself and keep the trust of its customers.

Only ordered once from here. The food came quickly. It was packaged well. It didn’t come cold or messy. Some plates were more flavorful than others. We ordered kofta, liver and sausage sandwiches. The liver and sausage sandwiches were perfect. The kofta one was too dry. But I would try ordering again.

I was very curious about trying an Italian restaurant in Cairo, so I went to Vivo for dinner. The view wasn’t particularly impressive: there’s a road between the restaurant and the Nile, and you can find rooftops with more striking views. That said, the service was very attentive and friendly, and I was able to walk in without a reservation (though I should mention I tried calling from my hotel room and they didn’t pick up).
The food was okay. Of course, it’s a bit unfair to compare Italian cuisine in Italy, or even Germany, with Italian food so far from its source, since ingredient freshness plays a big role. Taking that into account, I’d rate it a 4. If it were in Europe, probably a 3.
The Egyptian wine was fine, not super flavorful, but good enough.
The experience was just amazing, one of the best Italian restaurants I visited in my life, thanks to the chef Paulo he was so nice and came to say hi and ask about the experience. Ahmad and Omar where so professional and friendly.

We enjoyed lunch and dinner at Vivo! Our experience with Eslam and Raafat were stellar. Eslam’s table aide manner is exceptional. We never had to ask for anything. Raafat treated us to a special evening, decorating our table to offer us a one time experience that we will never forget. Chef’s Italian menu is exceptional and the restaurant views are out of bounds! Worth every penny!

As hotel guests, we celebrated my birthday with an incredible view of the Nile from our table. The food by Chef Baobo was outstanding. I had the Risotto carnaroli with crunchy seabass. It had a a beautiful color from the beetroot. I loved it! Our server, named Ahmed El Alfy was absolutely incredible. Very charming and service was perfect. He made our evening very special. The gentleman singing was very talented and fun. Thank you for a wonderful night!
Vivo - the Nile - the Ritz Carlton was amazing! I highly recommend the quattro formaggio pizza, risotto al basilica pecorino e polvere di pomodorini, and the bruschetta to start. The beef tenderloin was perfection. By far one of the best steaks I’ve had. The chef even brought out an amuse-bouche of mushroom arancini which was incredible. The head chef even came out to chat with us! The tirimisu for dessert is a must. We inhaled that. Our waiter Raafat was also amazing and so welcoming as this is our first time in Egypt. He was also incredibly timely so we never felt like we were waiting. This was an amazing way to start our vacation.
The food, the ambience and the view are all excellent. The Roca salad was very nice. The ravioli with seafood was perfect. The seafood was not overcooked.
