Koshari restaurant

Restaurant
Koshary Abou Tarek is a must-visit for both first-time visitors and locals seeking comfort food in the city. The restaurant has been serving its specialty, koshari, since 1935. This modern Egyptian staple combines rice, lentils, chickpeas, macaroni, and vermicelli noodles topped with a flavorful tomato sauce seasoned with lemon, vinegar, and chili.
A nice experience from the restaurant itself to the excellent service and somewhat the food. Everything was great and food was good. I felt there is more pasta that lentils therefore if you like lentils dont shy off asking for more. Highly recommend local restaurant
Dee A — Google review
Amazing food, and amazing service. They don't overcharge you because you are a foreigner. They only have kosheri, but this is the go-to place for it. It was crowded, we had to walk up several floors. This was the first dish we had in Egypt. We had no stomach bug after it. It tastes AMAZING.
Viktor K — Google review
Koshary Abou Tarek is a must-visit when you’re in Cairo! The atmosphere is lively and welcoming, and the service is truly outstanding. Every single waiter was extremely friendly, helpful, and full of good energy. The staff made the experience really fun and memorable. You don’t just come here for the food – which is also great – but for the great mood and warm hospitality. Highly recommended!
Senad G — Google review
I've been here to try the traditional Egyptian dish "koshary." It was pretty good, and you can adjust the sauces according to your preferences . This restaurant has its own festive song that kept being played all along. We sat outside, and it was lovely seeing the people walking while enjoying the meal.
Randa K — Google review
A small and tight place for maybe 20-25 people. Great service. Amazing local Egyptian food. 10/10
Alex A — Google review
Might be a very touristy place, but the koshary was good and the vibes are great, people were literally dancing in the streets. I got the smallest size but it was a big enough portion.
SA A — Google review
You must go for the authentic experience... I had a lot of amazing food/meals in Egypt and this was my absolute favorite in downtown Cairo.
Keith M — Google review
A true Egyptian food experience. Only one dish is served here and therefore the food arrives quickly. Also ask for a dessert. Good value for money

Izakaya restaurant
Abou El Sid Restaurant is a popular choice for those seeking authentic Egyptian cuisine. With multiple locations in Zamalek, Maadi, and Dokki, this quality chain restaurant offers delicious koshary and other traditional dishes. While some may prefer homemade koshary at an Egyptian Aazooma, Abou El Sid provides a great dining experience with interesting variations like whole-wheat koshary.
One of the finest and oldest Egyptian restaurants in Cairo that is specialized in traditional Egyptian food. They have a diverse menu of soups, salads, starters, main dishes, barbecues, desserts, and drinks. They serve both vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes. Their non-vegetarian meals come with chicken, lamb, beef, pigeon, and rabbits. Their food portions are quite filling (Egyptian food in general comes quite heavy). They accept both cash and card payment. They have indoor seating. Service is good especially when the restaurant isn’t very crowded. They have branches elsewhere in Cairo.

Hidden behind an unassuming door is this absolute gem of a restaurant. My partner and I arrived without booking and enjoyed one of the best meals we've had! The restaurant itself is gorgeous and the staff amazing. We had the stuffed pigeon and Veal about el sid style with a couple of side dishes. The meatballs were fantastic. Thoroughly enjoyed it and would definitely visit again. Can't recommend highly enough. Many thanks to all the staff

A true Egyptian cuisine experience in the heart of Zamalik. Food is complemented by a nice ambience and good service. Make sure to book and to check the surrounding shops. There are many great finds in the neighbourhood.
Ahmad H — Google review
The bad reviews don’t do this restaurant justice! Extensive Egyptian menu. Excellent service and an atmospheric setting. Food came out very quickly. Some of the dishes could have been hotter. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in Zamalek. Booking essential.
Effie R — Google review
Delicious Egyptian cuisine and atmosphere that transports you back 100 years! I’d eaten here 3-4 times ten years ago, and just returned for dinner last week. It holds up & it great to see both local business people dining alongside tourists :) I love the meseka’a (eggplant in tomato sauce) dish!
Andrew M — Google review
Inside the old building, it feels old with the old music you feel you are in the okd days like 75 years ago, My wife went to the toilet and was disappointed with how dirty it is, and then I went to gent toilet and it was clean, so they better concentrate on the cleanliness of the women toilet I will review the foid after eating the stuffed pigeons. the kushary was huge and tasty, the musakaa was excellent the abu sid salad was great, unfortunately the stuffed pigeon was almost meatles so don't consider it as your protein, it was an excellent meal. just before leaving a nearby table, a woman started smoking a cigarette

We had two very great experiences there! Food was delicious, atmosphere great. We went there twice during our 4 days stay in Cairo. Very recommendable!

If you find yourself in Egypt and your taste buds are ready for an adventure, make sure to stop by Shawarma Time. This charming eatery offers a delightful introduction to street food, where the friendly staff will welcome you with open arms, even if there's a language barrier. The star of the show is undoubtedly their chicken shawarma—succulent and bursting with flavor. Diners rave about the delicious meals that leave them craving more.
The chicken is delicious. No English speakers but managed, very nice people.

Zööba is a popular spot in Cairo that offers a gourmet twist on traditional Egyptian street food using fresh, local ingredients. The menu features dishes like whole-grain koshari, chicken liver hawashi, and sakalans sandwiches served with freshly baked bread. The restaurant's vibrant decor and casual outdoor setting create a lively atmosphere for diners to enjoy healthy cuisine.
Definitely one of the best breakfasts I’ve ever had in Egypt.. specially that I’m on a high protein diet, their eggs shakshoka with cheese, chicken shawarma dish were so delicious and clean.. it’s definitely gonna be my routine to visit Zooba and recommend it for my friends.

I don’t understand why it is so famous. Taste normal. And the classic beef sandwich is extremely spicy, I would not have ordered that if I knew.

Amazing. Must visit in Zamalek. Had a couple of lunches here - super quick, great quality, v flavoursome and incredibly budget friendly! Highly recommend.
Effie R — Google review
The food is fresh, the falafel salad was so delicious and tasty. We had a very good time, we had to wait a little to be seated but it wasn’t too long. It was a nice vibe inside with lots of tourists just like us. Although we wish the portion were bigger, we definitely recommend !
Lazaar B — Google review
The best place in Kairo Zamalek for breakfast - service & people are amazing. The service is excellent, the waiters welcome you with open arms and you feel completely at ease here. The location is small and doesn't invite you to linger for long, but that doesn't detract from the excellent quality of the food. If you are in Cairo, you absolutely have to eat here. Thanks to the Zööba team
J. S — Google review
Great local eatery with traditional dishes. Fast service and friendly staff. We went back few time during our week traveling in Cairo.
Lorena G — Google review
Zooba tastes good, but the service was slow and unorganized. There was a waiting queue and the people at the tables were also waiting. They got our order wrong twice. We didn't ask to correct it the second time. They don't provide tissues or wet wipes or eating utensils. Overall, it's good taste, cleanliness in the kitchen, which is important for the customers, not necessarily in the eating area. Would visit again, but it's overrated.

Cafe
Nestled in the heart of Khan El Khalili, Cairo's renowned bazaar, the Khan El Khalili Restaurant et Naguib Mahfouz Coffee Shop offers a captivating experience that transports visitors to ancient Egypt. Named after the esteemed Egyptian writer Naguib Mahfouz, this establishment has been serving guests since 1989 and is celebrated for its exceptional hospitality.
I recently visited Naguib Mahfouz Restaurant at Khan El Khalili and had a pretty great experience! The food was really good, but there’s a minimum charge of 600 pounds. The highlight for me was the live music, especially the electric violin—I'm not usually into Arabic music, but it was really enjoyable. The waiters were traditionally dressed and super friendly, adding to the authentic vibe. There are two main areas: one for dining, which isn’t too loud, and another perfect for grabbing a drink and soaking in the music. It’s definitely a place to visit, with such a historical feel. Highly recommend!
Anastasia T — Google review
The atmosphere at Naguib Mahfouz Restaurant is truly charming — rich with traditional Egyptian decor and a warm, nostalgic vibe that makes you feel like you’ve stepped into history. The staff are friendly and attentive, adding to the welcoming experience. However, the food itself is average Portions are decent, but the flavors felt a bit underwhelming for the price. Oriental desserts are not good at all, kofta seem to be pre-cooked and stored on the fridge and then coocked. Overall, it’s a nice spot to visit for the ambiance, but don’t set your expectations too high on the food.
Mohamed H — Google review
The atmosphere is fantastic, it gives you a magical feeling coming from Egypt past 🪄 very clean. Bad service, we asked many times for napkins, soft drinks in the cans were expired, there was a delay with food and couldn’t figure out which orders they delivered , definitely not the place to visit when is busy. Communication with personnel was challenging 🤣 and they were trying to overcharge at the payment. Better not to visit. They offered us a course at €60 each person which when we asked around the charge should be €20 😅😅😂
Mike — Google review
A hidden gem in the middle of Khan El Khalili bazar. The atmosphere is very authentic and the staff adds that extra notch to really make you feel welcomed. The food is traditional Egyptian food. The service is fast and efficient. They will always try and accommodate and changes to the meal, in case there is something you do not like. In our case they replaced the rabbit for chicken and changed the green sauce to a nice traditional tomato dish. I would highly recommend a visit if you are in the area.
Stiliyan S — Google review
A Magical Egyptian Evening at Khan El Khalili Stepping into Khan El Khalili Restaurant – Naguib Mahfouz Cafe feels like entering another world. The live Egyptian music and rich ambiance instantly immerse you in Cairo’s cultural soul. We had a late dinner featuring Egyptian-Lebanese starters, followed by bıldırcın dolması (stuffed quail) and grilled chicken — both flavorful and well-prepared. The highlight was dessert: Om Ali. A must-try! Crispy pastry, warm milk, nuts — baked to perfection. Easily a 10/10. Highly recommended for anyone wanting to feel the true spirit of Egypt.
Hakan D — Google review
As someone born and raised in Cairo, nothing compares to the timeless charm of Khan El Khalili—and the Naguib Mahfouz Café and Restaurant truly capture the soul of this magical place. Every time I visit, it feels like coming home. The ambiance is absolutely mesmerizing. The handmade wooden chairs and tables are rich with authentic Egyptian craftsmanship, and the live Arabic band playing beloved Egyptian classics fills the air with nostalgia and beauty. Sitting there, enjoying a delicious dinner, chatting with one of the kind-hearted staff members, and soaking in the music—it was an unforgettable experience we all loved. Khan El Khalili never fails to enchant, with its vibrant market full of treasures—from jewelry and antiques to spices and unique handmade gifts. And being just steps away from Al-Azhar and Al-Hussein Mosques adds a spiritual and historical depth that makes the area even more special. Whether you’re visiting for the first time or returning to your roots like I often do, this place is truly a gem of Cairo. A must-visit, not just for tourists—but for anyone who loves Egypt.

We had a lovely dining experience at Zitouni. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, with beautiful views that added to the overall charm. Service was attentive throughout our meal. The food was good – smooth, flavourful hummus and a deliciously spiced Hawawshi really stood out. The mixed grill was also tasty and well-prepared. While the desserts were a bit underwhelming overall, the chocolate knafe was a standout and absolutely worth trying. A solid spot for a refined Egyptian meal with great service and ambiance!

You get up to choose the salad Then again to choose main dish and again to choose dessert It’s a buffet but much more private, it felt like they made the food just for us The dishes are like Egyptian homemade food. The vegetables in tomato sauce بسلة وجزر بالدمعة and red meat cooked in ways I never dared to try. All tasty made with love and the chefs are happy to serve you, they explain the dishes and encourage you to try the food. The Nile view completed the experience. You can take smoke breaks at the bar next door same floor, where there is live piano music.

When wandering through the bustling streets of Cairo, one cannot miss the opportunity to savor Koshary El Tahrir, a beloved eatery renowned for its exceptional koshary. This iconic Egyptian dish is a delightful medley of rice, lentils, chickpeas, and macaroni layered harmoniously and topped with a zesty tomato sauce, crispy fried onions, and a splash of vinegar.
I honestly don't know how to describe it, but this place is my unrivaled go-to for koshary. It easily beats the big names and all the large hype out there. If you want the real deal, this is it.
Hussam M — Google review
A great place to try authentic Egyptian koshary affordable, filling, and packed with carbs (pasta, rice, and lentils). The place is always crowded, which speaks to its popularity. The taste is good, not exceptional, but definitely worth trying. Just keep in mind that it's a heavy meal and can be a bit tough on digestion

This is a chain restaurant with very efficient service and tasty food:-) it's fast and filling - good place to experience traditional meal called Koshary. They provide four different sizes of the same meal. I usually go for medium which is large enough. The dish costed 1 Euro including a drink.
Piotrek P — Google review
Koshary is a truly delicious and satisfying Egyptian dish that's loved by many, and the chain of koshary El Taharit restaurants is one of the famous chains in Cairo services Koshary. Koshary's ingredients are, Rice: A base for the dish. Lentils: Provide a hearty texture and protein. Tomato sauce: Adds a tangy flavor. Koshary sauce: A unique sauce specific to koshari, often made with vinegar and spices. Beans: Chickpeas are commonly used. Dental: This might be a typo or a local term. Perhaps you meant " lentils"? Fried onions: Add a crispy texture and savory flavor. #Ashy_Egypt

It is very bad experience in this branch ,I Don’t recommend it . I went there last month , we were 3 families ,the waiter put 2 tables together but 3 of the kids (teenagers) they want to sit together so they take one table far from us , then waiter came to us and said you have to take only one more table we were 7 people remaining and he separate the two tables which he connected and give us 7 people only one table, the hall was almost vacated but he insisted 7 people to take only one table . The staff is not cooperative ,not nice with customers, not even smile to the customers. I went there because I used to go their branch in Albarsha in Dubai the staff in Dubai always nice , cooperative, always smiling to the customers. What is the benefit of the quality or price if the staff is not qualified to deal with the customers?
M B — Google review
You may find it surprising that Koshari is very popular in Egypt and 100% vegetarian. About Al-Tahrir koshari ، it is a small place which is extremely crowded, we had to wait for sometime to get our table . The service is fast, like really fast. Our food was out in less than 5-7 minutes of ordering. It is not really like eating street food because it is a sit down place which looks "relatively" clean. We didnt have any stomach issues after eating here, so worked for us. There were 2 sauces to add to the Koshari, the Lemon and garlic sauce and the spicy sauce. The Spicey sauce at this place is awesome extremely hot one so be careful if you are not a fan of hot hot chilis . I added a lot to my meal and enjoyed cleaning my plate 😂. One small portion is almost all you need as a full meal and you can ask for extra bag of crispy fried onions , you have to pay extra little bit of money. It was inexpensive, a meal for 3 cost around 110 EGP. The place is Air-conditioned and No-smoking, which was really nice for a change. People smoke everywhere in Egypt, including 5 Star Hotels, Cafes etc. A guy sitting at a near by table lit a cigratte and a server immediately stopped him, which was great. Highly recommended and we will visit again.
Reem A — Google review
If you are a foreign and come to Egypt, you should try to eat their traditional food "koshary" It is a mixture of rice, pasta, lattice and peas then you add some tomato sauce, garlic sauce and pepper. It is tasty but 1 hr you will have flatulence and abdominal pain 😅😅 The prices is cheap just 20 to 40 EP, I recommend to take it away to your hotel because of Covid-19. I took away this size for just 26 EP

Al Tawhid Falafel Restaurant is a delightful spot for those craving authentic Egyptian falafel, also known as taamiya. This dish features fava beans and herbs, creating a vibrant green center encased in a crispy brown exterior. Typically enjoyed with tahina sauce, bread, and pickles, it’s perfect for breakfast or any meal throughout the day.

Egyptian restaurant
Mediterranean restaurant
Felfela is a popular vegan restaurant in Cairo, offering a diverse range of cuisines including Fast food, Middle Eastern, Egyptian, and vegan options. With multiple outlets, it's known for its street food eatery serving dishes like Tamiya, Humus, Besara, Foul, Tahini, Babaganouch and grilled eggplant. The restaurant also boasts a wide selection of drinks and an authentic setting that provides an extraordinary experience amidst the grand Islamic structures in old Cairo.
Felfela is considered an upscale restaurant, and even the basic dishes here are of excellent quality. We all agreed that their flatbread was the best we had ever eaten, and it was here that we truly fell in love with falafel, the classic Middle Eastern delight. We ordered: • Foul Eskandaryany – In Egypt, foul refers to stewed fava beans, seasoned with cumin, lemon juice, and olive oil. • Mixed Grilled Platter – A perfect combination of beef, lamb, and chicken, grilled to perfection: tender, juicy, and full of flavor. • Grilled Pigeons – Almost every article about Egyptian cuisine recommends trying this dish, so of course we had to give it a shot. But at the end of the day, it’s still pigeon — little meat, lots of bones, somewhat tricky to eat, and the flavor was just average. I doubt even a Michelin-starred chef could make it taste amazing. We wanted to order desserts — Om Ali and homemade yoghurt. The waiter suggested we order them after finishing the main courses. When we finally did, we waited a long time only to be told they were out. That definitely deserved a “frog face” from us. As I mentioned earlier, both the basic dishes and the meat sauces we tried were above standard, and pairing them with the flatbread or white rice was pure enjoyment. In fact, even eating just Felfela’s flatbread or rice on their own would not disappoint. Egyptian restaurants seem to have an unspoken rule: everything ordered at a table is served at the same time. Even if the first dish is ready, they won’t bring it out until everything is done, which means every meal involves a long wait. Another quirk is that each table must be served by a single waiter, probably because of how tips are handled. This can be quite inconvenient — if you ask another waiter for something, they will say “one moment” and then disappear, while your original waiter also mysteriously vanishes. -27/12/24

This place converted me to a falafel fan or as the Egyptians call it Ta’ameya, recipe being also a bit different and in my novice opinion the best I have tasted. It was super crunchy on the outside, bright with ground spices and soft on the inside. Perfectly spiced and packed full of flavor. The other stand out were the Veal chops. Food overall really tasty. Fit out a bit eclectic, with fish tanks, bird houses, murals and eclectic lamps. All a little dusty, mysterious and giving off just the Cairo vibes a tourist is after. Where the place falls done is Service. Friendly faces standing around, forgetting items, missing cutlery and taking forever to bring a drink.

Very good food in an amazing building. Tourist vibe does not take away from the experience. Falafel was excellent although lacked seasoning. Tourists should be aware that credit cards are not accepted and the service charge does not include a tip. Typical Egypt…

Stopped here for a final lunch at the end of our holiday. Without doubt the best falafel we have had (apparently the secret is fava beans instead of lentils). Service very good: friendly and helpful. We Recommend !

Maison Thomas in Zamalek, Cairo has been a go-to spot for delicious pizza since 1912. This renowned restaurant offers a variety of thin-crust pizzas, including favorites like funghi, pastrami, four-cheese, and the beloved Margherita. What sets Maison Thomas apart is its blend of Italian and American pizza with an Egyptian twist, resulting in a unique and unforgettable flavor experience.
The best everrrrrr... This is better than the pizza i got in Italy! ...some of the best pasta plates I have ever tasted...I have only tried the Zamalek branch for the past 24 years ...I don't think I will try other branches honestly ...original is usually the best ...

I must admit, I had high expectations for this pizza place, but it fell short of my expectations. The pizza was bland and the crust was thick and unappealing. It was a complete disappointment. On the bright side, the service was excellent. The waiter, with white hair and a thoughtful demeanor, took care of everything except for the pizza. The lasagna was okay, but not as good as the pasta at the nearby O’s. The salad was average, with a small portion and a high price. Despite these shortcomings, there’s still a chance I’ll visit again.

One of the best pizzas in Egypt. To be honest the toppings are much better than the dough. But overall the food is tasty. The personnel are very gentle and welcoming. For sure, a place that I certainly would like to come over again with pleasure.

Found this beautiful quaint little place today. Founded in 1922 with art deco lights. Plenty of vegetarian options. Ordered the Capriossca pizza (my first ever pizza with boiled egg!) and Margherita and cheese garlic bread. Simple, flavorful but delicious. Friendly service and quite popular with the locals. Their molten chocolate cake was also nice Open 24hrs for delivery. Shut only from 2am to 5am! Definitely a place to visit again.

The food is delicious, but there are definitely better pizzas and pastas elsewhere. The pizza crust is very, very thin. The price is overpriced; you can eat much more elsewhere for less. It's only good to try once, no more. The place is cramped, and sometimes sitting with a moderate number of people is uncomfortable.
WA'EL M — Google review
I loved the place and its vibe. The staff is friendly and your order comes fast. The pizza is amazing! I’m not a pizza loving person. But this vegetarian pizza made me fall in love with it. It was filled with toppings and the dough is thin so I can enjoy the toppings even more! I also liked the alfredo pizza, but vegetarian is my favorite. Highly recommend if you like veggies! You can also add cheese to it. The prices are very affordable and they include tax(not service). And by the way, don’t order garlic bread you’ll be disappointed. Focus on the delicious pizza!

April 2024: been here more than 10 years ago.quality has changed for the worse. It was the best quality cheese and soft thin Napolitano dough. This is a product place, it should reflect on quality of ingredients. We got 2 medium pizzas. The dough is thin and dry, gauging from -my pizza making days-I think this is a ready-made dough. It was dry and not tasty. The cheese quality is best there is in this high cost market but it is not like before. The tomato sauce is not represented in the taste group of the pizza. The 3 stars are for the dry dough and for that the place has no bathroom 😲 . I'm sure it was not possible to put one for whatever reason, but it is not acceptable to have a sit-down restaurant without a bathroom.

This restaurant is renowned for its down-to-earth Egyptian cuisine. The atmosphere is unpretentious and the staff are welcoming and accommodating. If you're looking for a taste of authentic Egyptian food, El Prince is a must visit. The menu offers several delicious dishes, including onion meat casserole, grilled sausage, molokhia casserole, akawi casserole, and more.
Amazing experience, molokhiya "green soup" was beyond incredible, also the rice was perfect, moving to the legendary siko mombar which was crunchy and little bit oily, also liver paper was spicy and mouthwatering, we tried also meat and the unexpected item was hawawshy it was the best ever

Long waiting list especially on weekends, but totally worth it. The food preparation took only 10 mins, and all the food tasted amazing. They have a lot of varieties to choose from, and the prices are good. Personally, I liked waraet lahma and hawawshy the most but all food was perfect.

If you visit Cairo and want to try the authentic Egyptian street food, this restaurant is a must-try. It serves local Egyptian dishes in a cozy environment located in one of crowded suburbs of the capital. Molokiya broth and tajeens are amazing. I also liked pasta with liver, salads, and bread. Prices are very reasonable for the quantity and quality. Hygiene is Okay for a "street food", but can be improved.

I loved this place. It's very lively and they treated us very well. There was a very nice and kind man at the door who spoke very good English. He made everything right to make us feel comfortable (almost kinda privileged). The food was very good in total. I'm not sure about the names of the dishes we ordered bc an Egyptian friend sent me a voice msg with his recommendations. I really liked the liver meat, the sausages and the lamp served in aluminum foil.

Medium prices, above medium meals. Grilled meat is super delicious. Rice is just amazing feels like home. Pamya was super delicious as well. Sogok wasn't that good, quite disappointing. Grilled liver was above medium. Overall, it's pretty nice but don't even try on weekends and holidays, it gets so competitive for places with very long waiting lines.

Al Refaei Butcher and Hawawshi is a popular Egyptian dish made with minced meat, chilies, and onions sandwiched between layers of Arabic bread dough. The sandwich is then roasted in an oven until crispy and sliced for easy consumption. It's a fast-food favorite found in many Egyptian restaurants, offering variations like turkey or double cheese fillings. Customers praise the deliciously crispy bread, flavorful hot meat, and reasonable prices at this eatery.
While in Cairo tried another Egyptian item called Hawawshi. and it did not disappoint. it is a crispy bread with many different options you can get into of it. we went with the minced meat and peppers, and it was amazing, the spiced and flavorful meat with the peppers (and those peppers were hot) inside of the crispy bread was just perfect. highly recommend it.

I wanted to try chicken hawawshi and choose this place to try it. Very busy and popular restaurant. The young waiter luckily spoke some English and I got my order in, the meal took a while to come, maybe 20 minutes wait. It was a tasty meal, the tahini side dish was nice too. Not the healthiest but a nice treat and experience.

We tried Hawawshi, it’s so delicious, they have a chicken Hawawshi too, service was good, it took them around 15 minutes to get the food. Prices are reasonable, they have indoor and outdoor seatings.

You can tell not too many English speakers come into the area. The sign outside is only Arabic. So make sure to compare the Google pics and you will find it no problem. The people in the area were also friendly and pointed us in the right direction. When we entered we were seated promptly even though it is a small place was full. The menu was only Arabic. But the cashier saw the look on my face and immediately helped us to get what we were there for, Hawashee! The service was great. Friendly and welcoming. We were four Americans in a small shop in Egypt and felt incredibly welcomed. The food was outstanding. A fantastic idea for a burger, They even give you food handling gloves for holding your sandwich. Highly recommended. By the way. When they say spicy. They mean spicy. I took some peppers off. Otherwise fantastic taste and filling. My wife and daughters couldn't finish theirs. If you are visiting Cairo....this place is a must!
Roboshort72 — Google review
Came here after one of the locals said this was a nice Hawawshi place. So we came here and everyone ordered their own Hawawshi. I got mine spicy, I thought it would have spicy sauce but they had spicy peppers. At some point it got too spicy so I removed them. I just got the basic minced meat but my friend said they had some other options. Overall it was solid, the Hawashi bread was a bit tough for me, like I said this was my first time so is it supposed to be like that, I'm not too sure!
Josh B — Google review
The food was good, I ordered the one with beef bacon and cheese and it was delicious! , I got the Side salads , they were okay but not the best! I didn't ask for a spicy one but they put some hot chili pepper in it but that was okay. I didn't expect the portion size of all orders to be all the same so if you are super hungry you might need to order two.

Le Pacha 1901 is a renowned dining complex located in the prestigious Le Pacha complex in Zamalek. It offers a variety of upscale dining experiences set aboard a floating boat on the Nile, providing stunning views and an elegant setting.
Piccolo mondo , you get in and find some italian decorations and names of people carved on the walls all around you , you get seated by helpful staff (but you need to have a reservation) , the menu has a wide selection of drinks and Italian cuisine dishes. I ordered seafood pasta and salmon fettuccine and both were very tasty , the best thing about this place is the view by the nile which makes the whole experience blends in together nicely. If you want a break from the city lights this place is highly recommended .
John S — Google review
Piccolo Mondo, nestled in the basement of Le Pasha boat, offers a cozy setting with pseudo "Italian specialties". The ambiance is charming and the service is decent, making it a pleasant spot for a casual meal. The food itself is middle-of-the-road — nothing extraordinary but passable. The biggest letdown was the bread buns, which tasted like they were defrosted in the microwave and lacked freshness. Overall, it's an acceptable choice if you're not seeking culinary perfection but just a relaxed meal by the Nile.
Marwan R — Google review
What a great place! We kicked off our Egypt holiday here and finished it here because Carlo Le Pacha 1901 does everything we wanted. Good beer? Check. Tasty cocktails? Check. Excellent food (both Egyptian and other choices)? Check. The real winner for us was the combination of all that with a solid shisha/hookah menu and live sports on TV. It's the complete package you struggle to find elsewhere. The vibe is upscale but comfortable. We'll be back on our next trip for sure!

Le Pacha was definitely a great experience in Cairo! The staff was very helpful and friendly, the food amazing and the environment very well organised. The portions were big and fulfilling, and the flavours incredible. Try out the Steak with roquefort sauce, it is a wonderful dish, accompanied with excellent fries! Also, do not forget to take a look around and visit the terrace, as the view of the Nile is beautiful. Keep in mind there is a big staircase to reach the restaurant with no ramps, so it's not for people with reduced mobility.
Σάντυ M — Google review
Disappointing experience. Le Pacha group is recognized for upscale dining, specialy, Carlos. However, piccolo mondo was a disappointment. In a basic Italian themed restaurant, you are served high quality EVOO and a fine balsamic vinegar, paired with good quality bread, while waiting for the meal. That was not provided until we asked for it. We received a bowl of stale olive oil, and low quality balsamic vinegar. Compared to other lower caliber Italian themed restaurants in heliopolis, piccolo mondo failed. Pizza ingredients were good, the expected quality, but the dough was more of chewy bread. In the end, that was not the anticipated quality while dining in le pacha
Salam G — Google review
Better make a reservation. It was a very pleasant experience with loads of Italian vibes. As if you are sitting inside an old pizzeria in Italy. The menu is varied and the quality of the food is worth the price. We enjoyed a selection of Italian salads, Salami pizza, and Penne Le Pacha. We were quite full and we had no room for dessert after this delicious load of carbs. You get to enjoy a very nice and close view of the Nile since it is located in the bottom floor of the boat. Fit for a date and a casual dining experience.

Mandarine Koueider is a renowned patisserie and dessert brand that has been a fixture in Cairo since 1928. This prestigious establishment offers an impressive selection of local desserts and freshly made ice creams, with flavors ranging from traditional options like chocolate and pistachio to more adventurous choices such as tiramisu and passion fruit. With over 90 years of history, Mandarine Koueider is celebrated for its high-quality pastries, chocolates, and gourmet desserts.
Amazing traditional patisserie in Zamalak with excellent quality, variety, service, and prices. After trying many of the well-known competitors, I can say that Mandarine Koueider had some of the best versions of most of the desserts offered. I was also pleasantly surprised by their walnut malban, which I did not expect to find there (having only ever seen it in Ali Muhiddin Haci Bekir in Istanbul). We had made a reservation and specifically requested a table by the Nile, but were seated far from it. The tables, plates, and cutlery were not clean. The food was disappointing and not like it used to be — the grilled meats were overly spiced and of poor quality, and both the molokhia and moussaka were below average. We like only hummus and mutable.. Despite this, there was a minimum charge of 1500 EGP per person, which is absolutely not worth it. To make things worse, we were subjected to inappropriate stares and harassment from some guests, and no action was taken when we reported it. We asked to change tables, but were told it wasn’t possible. Not Recommended

Together with my girlfriend and a friend of ours we went to Kebabgy to have great dinner on a lovely early August evening. We went there without a reservation, which wasn't a problem. We generally love Egyptian cuisine and we've been able to enjoy a great selection of it there. We'd definitely recommend having the Eggplant Salad, Assorted Oriental Cold Mezzeh, Stuffed Vine Leaves (my girlfriend and I love to travel & eat a lot and those were the best ones we've ever had so far), Mix Grilled and Grilled Vegetables, putting it all in the middle and just share & enjoy! Also: The freshly baked bread is wonderful and the Guava juice was very good. The location at the very southern tip of Gezira island, right at river Nile is just amazing. Views are very lovely at sunset and night time. Service provided by the waiters and all the other staff was very good. There might be some live traditional music performed from 19:00 on. What you should also expect, is to receive a fairly higher bill by the end of your dinner. If you're looking for a cheap meal, this isn't your place to go. Still, the prices seem to be fair with the quality, service and atmosphere that come with it and the fact that it's part of the next door Sofitel. If you're aware of that and fine with paying a bit of premium, you'll enjoy your meal a lot! Thx for everything

The best among all! Exceptional barbecue, juicy kebabs, and a perfectly balanced blend of spices. The service and presentation were outstanding — truly a 5-star experience that stands out from the rest.

The food was very delicious, we ordered a salad, spicy shrimps and ioghurt with herbs for appetizers and Adana kebab (minced lamb - spicy with chilli) for main course, beers and coffee etc. The view at night was amazing, the vibes/music were also on top. We reserved a table online for 22h but we arrived 1h earlier and they still found us a good table outside, very grateful for that. Would recommend if you want to have a great time with your partner and family. We ordered a lot (4 people) but still paid only 7600 EP, I think thats reasonable, we were full after everything

Nestled close to the iconic Egyptian Museum in Cairo, Fasahet Somaya is a charming eatery that feels like stepping into a warm family gathering. The inviting bright blue door beckons visitors inside, where the decor—painted in soothing white and blue hues—evokes a hint of the Greek Isles while remaining distinctly Egyptian. Here, chef and owner Somaya Al Asyoty serves up authentic homemade dishes that have garnered admiration over her decade-long journey as a local favorite.
Very cozy restaurant, tourist friendly, authentic homemade egyptian food. Only opens for 2 hours from 5-7pm with a daily delicious set-menu, so make sure to queue up at least 10 mins ahead! Food is served once ordered since it is already prepared. As an Egyptian, I have to say this is one of the best authentic homemade Egyptian experiences.

I read a lot about this place and seen videos. I was very curious to try it. I ordered three dishes, I liked the stuffed vegetables the most, although some pieces were a bit dry. I ordered beef in cumin sauce, which was good, but nothing too crazy. The molokhia is served without rice, as a soup. I didn't like it that much.
Elias C — Google review
My favorite restaurant in Cairo. Loved it so much I came here twice and cried that I didn’t discover it earlier to have every single dinner here. While the dishes may not be photogenic, I guarantee you they are very tender, juicy, flavorful, and generous. I especially appreciated the knuckle soup, the different liver dishes, and the bean soup (the best bean soup I’ve ever had, bold claim I know). They change the menu daily so you can always come back for more. Run don’t walk to Fasahet Somaya!

I visited this restaurant evening. I ordered the beef piccata, green salad, glass noodle rice, and rice pudding. All were excellent. It was delicious. The rice pudding and beef piccata were some of the most delicious meals I have ever had in my life. I will visit you again when I come to Cairo.

The place is small in the most charming and cozy way, with colorful walls and a warm homely atmosphere. The staff and Chef Somaya are wonderful, welcoming, and make you feel at home. We had the Chicken stew with mixture and the Kebab Hilla (slow-cooked beef stew)—both were excellent, flavorful, and felt authentically homemade. The Molokhia and Vermicelli rice were simple but comforting. Overall, I truly enjoyed the experience—it felt like dining with family.

Home cooked market fresh meals! You won’t be disappointed. Skip places like Felfela (for the tourists) and spend your money here instead. Go early at 17h because when the food is gone, the restaurant closes. Absolutely worth it. We got everything that was on the menu and it was delicious.

Feteera is a restaurant that offers a variety of delicious toppings for your pizza. There are also sweet options available that are sure to please everyone. The food is excellent and the service is friendly and welcoming. If you're looking for a great place to eat in Jerusalem, Feteera should be at the top of your list!
As a tourist, this place is gold! We got a Hawawshi (meat in bread which is then baked or fried), a fateera with vegetables like mushrooms, olives and cheese, and also a roll with garlic cream and white cheese. Although the roll was too heavy for us to finish (gave it to a nearby homeless person), we couldn't stop eating the fateera and Hawawshi. They were spot on and delicious. I would definitely recommend.
Areeb J — Google review
For the first time trying fateer i like the taste. They have both savory and sweet one. Also a rare masheltek one. I like savour rolls with smoked mixed however it had waay too much cheese so u can’t taste meat at all. The other one was big enough, although my husband (local) says it is supposed to have more butter and buttery smell. As a foreigner to me it was delicious as it is. Prices are a bit high maybe because it locates in Zamalek? I believe it deserves 25% cheaper compared to local prices here. Service was great and Ahmad was very nice and helpful. Even though they didn’t have tea on their menu he ordered from outside for us. One more note side dips are pretty big and expensive, especially if u wanna try few things it will ho to waste. My suggestion is it can be cheaper and less amount instead to not waste leftovers. I recommend to try it 😍they have different branches all over Cairo

So little portions when it comes to Nutella pie, and the savory has good portions but low quality ingredients. I totally don't recommend it, especially with the high price.

Zeyad A — Google review
I tried it 3 years ago and 2 weeks ago. It was great and it became terrible. The fetir unfortunately was thrown at the end because it can't be eaten. Tasteless, not fresh, not as it used to be at all. Avoid.
Hos A — Google review
Very subpar food. They claim it’s Egyptian feteer with a twist; they lie. The only twisted thing is the pricing. It’s barely even feteer. The audacity to charge such prices, at least double what a normal feteera should cost. They only open branches in higher end neighborhoods to scam the people. Can’t believe I supported this business.
Michael M — Google review
The best feteer experinece I have ever tried. We were 9 girls and none of us was not satisified. Even though we ordered many different kinds of feteer, all the order was correct and so hot. What was about to ruin the the experience is that they were forgetting about us coz we were sitting in the upper floor. No one was around all of them were sitting down. Everytime we wanted to ask for something we had to call them loudly for 2-3 times till they hear us. The bathroom needs to be improved. But still we all left with a satisfied taste buds. Its a must-to-try experience. Totally recommended!

Despite the limited dining options in the area, this place stands out with its outdoor seating and traditional foul stand. The kofta-style falafel and flavorful foul are particularly noteworthy, along with the tasty aubergines. The consistent quality and reasonable prices make it a favorite among both locals and tourists.
As good as it gets! Truly authentic and extremely delicious foul & taameya. Right in the heart of downtown, it is a quite simple seating on the sidewalk. Their taameya & foul are exceptional. The service is great, quite fast & friendly and the prices can be tad bit pricey for a foul cart but for the quality & convenience, it is definitely worth it. Totally recommended.

Sure, it's not very high on cleanliness and overall hygiene, but it's usual in this country and I accept it. Besides that, the price was low and the table was covered with food (7 plates in total). Really good vegetarian food - delicious veggies, nice egg meal, perfect potato chips. If you're not too fragile and spoilt, I recommend having a good big meal there P.S. Don't forget to haggle ;)
Aurimas B — Google review
Great spot for traditional Egyptian breakfast in Garden City. Foul is good but a spicy a little bit and Falefal don't like the traditional Falefal in Egypt ( you will feel the baking powder inside it ) but it is okay, the seasoning is super spicy 🥵🔥 and it is on everything but is super good. The fried eggplant is not good for me. The French fries is good because it is warm. The bread is super fresh. The staff is helpful and friendly. The quality is very good. Very recommended for morning breakfast.

Cafe
El Fishawy Cafe, a historic establishment dating back to 1797, is a beloved spot in Cairo's bustling Khan El Khalili market. Its classic decor, featuring ornate lanterns and arabesque furniture against yellow ochre walls, creates an ambiance that harks back to earlier times. This family-owned cafe offers an authentic Egyptian experience with its 24/7 availability for socializing over sweet mint tea and a variety of fruit-flavored shisha.
A lovely place for coffee in the heart of the market after a walk. This café has a long history and tradition—you truly feel the local culture 100%. The coffee was quite good. The only downside is the constant street vendors, who can be very persistent. At one point, a musician expected to be paid just for playing on his own, but the café staff intervened and resolved the issue.
Konstantinos G — Google review
The atmosphere was great! We went there in the night after dinner for some local beverage. Unfortunately couldn’t try the famous coffee instead local tea we had as it was late in the night. There was live music and service was good. Staff were very friendly. Definitely you should visit this place if you are in Khan El Khalili
Halide V — Google review
I recently visited Fishawy Cafe in Khan El Khalili, and unfortunately, my experience was very disappointing. Right when I arrived, I noticed that some people sat down at my table and started singing. At first, I thought they were part of the cafe staff, but it turned out they were just customers like me. When I asked for the menu, they told me there was no printed menu available. This made it hard for me to know what food or drinks I could order. At the end of my visit, I was surprised to find out that I had to pay a large amount of money because one of the singers decided how much I should pay. To make things worse, these singers then asked for money for their performance. They didn’t mention this when they first started singing, which felt quite unfair. Additionally, the noise from street vendors outside made it really hard to enjoy my drink. They were so loud that I couldn’t relax or focus on my time at the cafe. I do not recommend visiting Fishawy Cafe. You might end up feeling scammed, and it’s unlikely you will have a good time there.

I’ve been there twice, and it’s a nice place to enjoy a classic aesthetic. However, they don’t have a menu or fixed prices, so you might get charged differently each time. Also, avoid talking to anyone who tries to approach you. If you don’t see staff wearing the brand’s red and blue logo, it’s best not to go in
Lujeyn A — Google review
Tripped over this cool cafe in the bazaar. Stopped for a coffee (Turkish coffee) only LE 65 and to refresh with water. A few customers were smoking shisha, so I had a grape one for LE 175. Comfy chairs lined along the alley facing the mob, so you get lots of hawkers, but it’s part of the fun. Didn’t eat here. Waiters have a bitnof a Parisian stiffness- they don‘t take mucking about. Very atmospheric and recommended
Colin R — Google review
They insist you come in and sit down. We ordered three Cokes. When we went to pay, they didn't accept card payments and we were charged 550. There are also people who want to sing to you at your table, even if you say no, they don't stop and ask for money the whole time. Definitely a terrible experience. I don't recommend it.

Nestled just off 26th July Street, O's Pasta is a charming Italian eatery that embodies the essence of home-cooked meals. This cozy spot may be easy to overlook, but it’s worth seeking out for its impressive selection of around 20 pasta dishes. From Southeast Asian-inspired flavors to delightful Red Sea seafood options, every dish is crafted with fresh, homemade pasta and sauces prepared right before your eyes.
My go-to place for a nice, cozy hangout with friends. Prices are reasonable considering there’s no service added. Would highly recommend the Scampioni & White Summer Garden pasta!
Rawan A — Google review
This is my first time going there, I’ve always heard about O’s pasta and thought it was overrated but when I tried it I felt like it was ok, it is a bit overhyped in my opinion. It tasted okay but something about it just wasn’t right to me. I couldn’t really put my finger on it but it’s something with the essence of the pasta that I did not like, however, I’m assuming it was a bit oily for my liking. We ordered Sun-kissed Cream Pasta and Pasta Limone, both with chicken. Both had the same taste, they were both average to me honestly and I feel like I could have better pasta somewhere else. On the other hand, my friend really loved it and she has been there multiple times already. I’ve always heard mixed reviews about the place, so it pretty much depends on your taste in food. It’s one of those places that you have to try and make up your own mind about it. I’d love to note that, the staff were super nice and polite! They were super nice and had this welcoming energy with their smiles!

Arrived there with no reservation but luckily we managed to find a table, the waiter tried to explain to us the pastas and sauces and when we ordered scampioni he said it has no sauce, but when we got it there was sauce it was just more of a lighter sauce with no cream so maybe they need a more thorough understanding of the pastas? He didn't ask also which type of pasta would we like. we ordered scampioni pasta and mushroom white sauce pasta, the scampioni pasta was to die for. Very light and fresh, the place was buzzing with people and the atmosphere was really nice, the portions are huge. The caprese salad was VERY bland though, and we had to take the rest home, the waiter just left it on the front counter without even mentioning that this bag was ours, i stood there waiting for anything until i asked and he just nodded which was very odd, other than that great food, okay service and decent experience.

Wow this restaurant served the best food and wine. The staff were so friendly and funny. They made sure we had everything we needed. The view is great directly in front of the Nile. It was a lovely fine dine experience without the extra formalities. They gave us recommendations that did not disappoint. The steaks were my favourite. I'm fine with all the dishes my meal was nice and unique touch. Location in Zamalek is super convenient, surrounded by other cool places to explore. Overall rating is 07/10. Cons: It's not to find parking nearby!. And it gets pretty crowded during peak hours, so you might have to wait a bit for a table. Service can be slow when it’s busy, which can be a bit frustrating. Prices are slightly on the higher side, but the quality of the food helps justify it. Otherwise can't complain.

Very cosy restaurant with reasonable prices serving home made oriental food, Egyptian kitchen, don't expect to have high standards of cooking or service, but it's delicious and well served. We tried grilled kofta and chicken Fatah, and it's good but not super. So overall, it's good to try.

Food was great, the koshari and spicy potatoes were delicious. When we arrived it was empty except for one other person (around 6:30). Service was a bit lacking and not overly friendly, but not rude at all. Food came out very quickly. The restaurant itself was a bit cheap feeling, more like a budget diner.

Was a terrible experience. 0 cleanliness. I found in the rice a peace of steel wire those we use to clean dishes with, thank god I saw it and showed it to them, it would have destroyed my stomach. And again found hair in the found, and ended up with a disaster finding insect in the food. The manager suddenly disappeared and left the place and I kept waiting for him. Until even the Chef was the one had to touch with his hands the Visa card machine so I can finally pay for the disgusting food. Toilet is very dirty and no toilet papers nowhere. Absolutely disgusting experience. Don’t recommend it, the food itself tasted old and not that delicious at all

Very small place but nice, the food is really home made and had a very authentic taste. I had kofta with potatoes in the oven, with rice, grilled vegetables and Egyptian pickle. The taste was amazing. The only drawback was when I requested the rest of my meal be wrapped for rake away, I was surprised when I got home to find the put the picks over the rice and vegetables!!!

Kazaz is a popular restaurant located in downtown Cairo, offering a wide variety of taameya and meats, as well as delicious shawarma. The restaurant has been maintaining its quality for almost 10 years, providing hot, fresh, and tasty food for dine-in or takeaway. It also features clean toilets on the second floor. Despite being casual and frequented by locals, the staff is welcoming and provides an English menu with patient explanations.
Felt safe as a solo female - just head up the steps on your right and you'll be met by servers. Polite service. Respectful, none of them were staring. Food was great. Just be mindful there's a price difference if you eat in vs if you takeaway, but its still affordable. I got the Egyptian Hawawshi - had loads of flavour. Would recommend!

This is a good place to stay with friends. I ordered a roast chicken meal and it was delicious. The service was good. The juice was amazing and just LE29 that is way cheaper than you have in the restaurants nearby the attraction

The dishes are kind of disappointing, except for the first soup, it’s authentic and delicious but definitely can’t make up for the rest disaster, the beef smells weird and the skin are hard to chew, meanwhile the shawarma chicken meat tastes also bad. I came here for a recommendation but seems it’s not a good idea. The price is okay but definitely not worth coming.

📍 Kazaz – Cairo 🇪🇬 One of the best local restaurants we visited in Cairo — the taste of the food was absolutely outstanding 🤤✨. 🥙 We tried falafel, fried brinjal, and shawarma with rice, and every single dish was mouthwatering and packed with authentic flavor. 🍮 The Cream Caramel dessert was pure heaven — the perfect sweet ending to a memorable meal. 🪟 They have seating on the first floor, with a great mix of locals and tourists, which added to the charm. 🧑‍🍳 Service was absolutely wonderful, attentive, and efficient. These local eateries are such a treat compared to the typical touristy spots — this one’s a true gem in the heart of Cairo. 🌆🍽️

We tried both breakfast and dinner here, and it was a very good experience. The quality and freshness of the food were top-notch, and the service was excellent. If you’re looking to try authentic Egyptian food at great value for money, this is the place to go. We had lentil soup, toasted chicken with basmati rice, and a large chicken shawarma—all for only 350 EGP.

The restaurant is known for its traditional Mediterranean meat feasts and sides, including grilled meats like jebabs, kofta, lamb chops, and chicken. The spacious restaurant also features outdoor seating where locals enjoy hearty meals of grills and stews.

If you are looking for actual good Egyptian food, you have to try this place. I’ve been 2 weeks in Egypt, and I struggled to find authentic Egyptian food. Yesterday our tour guide recommended this place to us, and it didn’t disappoint! We are tourists and they were very friendly even though we didn’t speak the language. Everything tasted fantastic and the lamb chops were one of the best one I have eaten. Thank you for making our trip even better with this place.

This is a local Egyptian restaurant. I have been to Cairo third time, and first time here. We were the only foreigners there, and the staff was very friendly and clean. (It seems they use disposable utensils for cleanliness and efficiency, but it would be nice if they had more forks and knives.) The grilled food is wrapped in foil, which at first I thought was a delivery service I know. I think it's for heat preservation and cleanliness. The lamb ribs are JMT! The flavor goes well with soju or wine. (They don't serve alcohol)

It’s a nice place to buy sweets to take home to your loved ones concluding your visit to Egypt. Staff were nice and helpful when I bought at night time. I can’t say the same for the guy who served me ice cream in the morning. He looked so tired and unmotivated to even talk. There wasn’t even another customer in line yet he look displeased serving me. The chocolate ice cream was thick and delicious though. It can get crowded during peak hours as it is famous. Cash and card are accepted.

Haven for those sweet tooth. Tried their pistachio ice cream at 25EGP only. Also 2 cakes - chocolate layer crepe cake and red velvet cream cake. Both not too bad. The crepe cake is a bit too messy to eat. Flakes all over when bitten. Tasted not too bad. Not fantastic though. Some items are cheap. Some not so. Don't really understand what the hype is all about.

Abou Shakra Restaurants, a renowned establishment in the world of Egyptian cuisine, has been delighting patrons for over 70 years. With its origins on the banks of the Nile in Downtown Cairo, it has become equally beloved by locals and visitors alike. The restaurant is credited with introducing innovative concepts such as tent celebrations and Oriental Nights at iconic locations like the Nile and the Pyramids long before they became widespread trends.
Very good experience! My parents and I both enjoyed it very much. The food here was very delicious. The lamb shank was yummy and the chicken was flavorful. The pita bread was warm. The service was great. Our waiter recommended very good dishes to us. As foreigners, we don't understand the bill, our waiter and the owner patiently point the item in the bill to our picture. I will come back again if I come back to Egypt!

I recently dined at Abou Shakra and had a mixed experience. The food, including the hawawshi, mix grill, and kofta, was very flavorful and well-prepared. The appetizers were also tasty. However, the portion sizes were quite small for the price, making it feel a bit overpriced. The atmosphere of the restaurant was pleasant, with a quiet setting and calming music that made for a relaxing meal. The staff were good, though not particularly outstanding in terms of service.Overall, while the food quality was high, the small portions and high prices might make me reconsider returning frequently.

We went there with good expectations but it was disappointing. Staff was unfriendly and without aim to serve us, maybe because of the Ramadan (even though we went there at the evening) Grilled meet was very good but we could not taste any other dishes or juice drinks because they told us that were finished. Also dessert options were limited to a few options of the menu. I do not recommend to go there.
Bàrbara — Google review
A nice place to eat. The food were larger in portion once, but now it seemed a bit average. The food taste however was good, although a bit pricy. The place is not that big, but comfortable enough to enjoy your meal. Parking would be a bit of a problem, but the workers outside might help. The waiting service could be better, but otherwise acceptable for a high-end place.

We went there to have lunch today 26April 2025, and tentatively book the place in May for a larger gathering. We encountered an extremely hostile and ill mannered hostess and they tried to give us seats behind a pillar. We never got around to tasting the food and left empty stomach. Will never recommend to anyone.

The food is really tasty for an egyptian restaurant. I had the kufta abd kebab and it was great. However the stuff is not that professional and i felt like I’m left alone . I even grapped the spoon and fork by myself form a table next to me because there is no one nearby 🤷🏻‍♂️
Sajjad J — Google review
Let's all agree that Cairo has a serious problem with food. Food is simply BAD here. This evening I ordered a mixed grill meal and a baladi salad from Abu Shakra. Everything about the order was just fine, with two reservations however: rice portion is so small, and the dish presentation was simply primitive (disproportionately big platter, compared to the anemic portions, with scattered pieces of meat and a clumsy little pyramid of rice) Order came fast and warm directly from the grill, this is a huge plus. The place is relatively clean, but it's also very compact with no exterior view. Compared to the price tag of $10, it's a good deal, but when put in the context of regional food capitals such as Beirut or Istanbul, with this price odds become a bit different. 5 stars for good taste, speed, cleanliness and helpful staff. Minus 1 star for little portions and bad presentation.

Japanese restaurant
Makino Japanese Restaurant, located in the Hilton Zamalek, is a hidden gem known among Japanese expats but not widely recognized by Egyptian locals and tourists. The restaurant's kitchen is run by Japanese chefs who serve up authentic dishes like sushi, sashimi, makimono, bento boxes, udon, and ramen. Occasionally, they also offer dishes with an Egyptian twist.
The food is great, and the service is excellent. They help you discover items you haven’t tried before. The food is very delicious, but the prices are quite high. Honestly, I will definitely come back again. The meal cost me 2,100 EGP. The service is really wonderful, and the food comes out quickly. Thank you!

I must say it is a very good Japanese restaurant, run by a Japanese man who suggests daily dishes and guide you on the selection with honesty. I recommend. It is inside the hilton hotel, ground floor. When entering the hotel hall, go left and walk to the corridor. You will see it on your ́left hand side.

One of the best spots for sushi in Cairo, Sashimi was great and fresh as usual, hoso maki rolls were on point. Shrimp tempura roll was one of my favs. No options for dessert except ice cream.

I visited this restaurant for lunch because I heard that I can eat really delicious Japanese food here. It is located on the ground floor of the Marriott. I wanted to eat tonkatsu, but they didn't have any thick meat for tonkatsu that day, which was very disappointing. I ordered agedashi tofu, tempura moriawase, sushi, pork shogayaki, and soy sauce ramen, and they were really delicious. I often get disappointed when I eat sushi overseas, but this place was different. And above all, the pork shogayaki was especially delicious. The total cost was about 2,500 EGP. This is a very satisfying restaurant. If you want to eat really delicious Japanese food in Egypt, you should definitely go here. I'm a Japanese person, so I can say this for sure. There were also staff members who could speak Japanese.

Very authentic Japanese food. But the service is absolutely terrible and basic, and I would never go back. Eg. We ordered a bento box with a variety of items and it arrived missing several pieces. After we noticed, they informed us that the menu was outdated and these items were no longer included in the bento box. It took an argument to get the items/replacements added to our order.

absolute disgarce and disappointment ... the order at least took 1hr and the service was the worse of all. We ordered pork katshu and unagidon, pork katshu meat was jerkey and hard to chew and unagidon didn't came out due to poor service. The staff wasn't helpful at all and the rice and other dishes was low quailty. I will never ever come back to this failure. 0/10

A good restaurant, it is well known and has a waiting queue for your time. Has multiple settings, nile side, inside the restaurant and outside. Staff unfortunately aren't available and very busy and the service isn't as expected for the prices of the restaurant. Too noisy. Too unorganized. The maiterd'hotel left us standing for a while before we seated our selves at a table. They got the order wrong and did not replace it Table was not cleaned properly with disinfectant before or after us. They just wiped it with a dry tissue. Waiters are slow Food arrived warm Not hot The molokhya came after we almost finished eating and asked for it more than 8 times. Not worth the money.

Let me start with the fact that when we entered, the administrator was standing with his back to us. We greeted him, but he didn't answer. We asked if we wanted to sit down. The administrator waved to the side and mumbled sometThe food has been brought hing. When we made an order and the dish was not there. I asked what other dishes were there? - Everything. Ok. Ordered different. Let's start with appetizers. We ordered eggplant, cucumber and tomato salad, moussaka. Everything was delicious, but they added too much chicken cube to the moussaka. It made the food look like instant noodles. Edible? Quite. My grilled chicken was delicious, soft and juicy. No complaints. Overall, the food is good. Like many restaurants in Cairo, nothing unusual, surprising or supernatural. This is a good Egyptian restaurant with local cuisine. If it is essential for you to be greeted, driven and seated at a table, then this is not the place for you. But if you want a delicious meal with a view of the Nile, then choose this restaurant.

What a great experience we had. The food was delicious and the staff were very polite. The view was great and the open area are good too. Also, you can take a little ferry to eat in the Nile. But sadly can't take it with the kids. The menu had good items and a great variety. Also, the food arrived extra fast. My only concern was the smoking in the closed area and some chicken were not well cooked. But they changed that portion of the plate which is fine I guess. I just didn't like the smoking smell and I also have some children that shouldn't be exposed to smoking.

August 2025: went there based on multiple food blogger hype. You can't call it recommendations really. They get paid. So it's a hidden ad. So don't fall for that. Fails 95% of the time. The low rating because quality of food was bottom of any expectation. We sat indoors workers were loud and dragging chairs all the time arranging tables for different size parties that was so noisy. you feel like you are in a kindergrden classroom. Very unthathful. But staff was polite. As for food we ordered mixgrill extra special. Beef cubes where chewy meaning not good quality meat cut or not fresh meats. Chicken had the weardest quality I have ever seen. I can't take meat off the bone when I bite into it.honest to God, never seen this before in chicken. Not all was bad. Kofta was super tasty. The second dish was lamb shank with fatta. Meat was tough meaning it has been sitting forever then got warmed up. Bland flavor.fatta was so good. So if I was to go back( never happening) I would get kofta with fatta on the side. This place is on the Nile meaning luxury and it is super expensive.I expected more. They have outside seating was well.

Location: Excellent, and the service was good. But the food was an absolute disaster. • Hummus: Overly sour. • Baba Ghanoush: Completely tasteless. • Yogurt with cucumber and mint: Missing entirely, and the yogurt itself had a very strange flavor. • Chicken liver: Strong unpleasant smell with an excessive amount of pomegranate molasses. • Tabbouleh: No lemon, no oil, no salt. • Rice: Absolutely bland, like plain boiled rice. • Molokhia: Watery, almost like soup. • Grilled chicken and mixed grills: Very average quality, not worthy of the restaurant’s name. • Stuffed cabbage: Drenched in tomato sauce. • Bread: Good, the only decent item served. Conclusion: One of the worst food experiences possible. The food doesn’t even meet the level of a basic street eatery, let alone a restaurant in such a prime location in Sheikh Zayed

This is a beautiful promenade. Perfect for warm sunny winter morning. However the service doesn't match the rest of the experience. I'm usually very easy going and chill with places but this was genuinely one of the worst hotels I ever dined at. Ordered an all american breakfast and it was mid as hell, the eggs were overcooked, the hash browns were undercooked and the bagels are just baked dough. Everything was all over the place and the service was ridiculous. I had to ask for each little thing atleast three times, like my coffee which still hasn't arrived as I write this. If you're planning on having breakfast here, go somewhere else unless you like bland eggs and uncooked hash browns 😊

Worst Experience Ever. As a Marriott member, never been to a hotel cafe with such poor service. Staff is unfriendly and not helpful. The quality of food is not acceptable. We ordered one creamy chicken soup and one Lasagna. Staff just gave us one set of tableware and placemat, without any confirmation with the customer. When we ask for one more set of tableware, staff is impatient and we feel uncomfortable. As an international brand, it will be better to provide better training to staff.

It saddens me to leave such a review for what used to be my favourite place. Unfortunately, the experience has changed. Cafeteria
Granita Cairo is a charming "concept cafeteria" located near the All Saints Cathedral in Zamalek, paying homage to the grand cafes of Egypt from the 1930s and 1940s. The cafe offers both indoor and outdoor seating, making it ideal for brunches, work meetings, or simply enjoying coffee and pastries. Their menu includes breakfast items, sandwiches, salads, Greek pizzas, appetizers, main dishes, and homemade desserts.
Located inside a church complex with no sign, a literal hidden gem. From the beginning, I was blown away with the interior concept and decorations; tons of greens make the atmosphere refreshing and tranquil. The service was top-notch, adding to the exceptional hospitality. Fast-paced and attentive. The foods were good, I had the best brunch. But the cake? Hands-down my favourite one. Super flavourful, not too sweet and I loved the lime taste makes it more splendid. Jazz music played background adding to the wonderfulness, make me want to come again.

One of the best restaurants in Zamalek, great decor inside and out, respectful staff and good taste, the food tastes delicious and wonderful, Turkish coffee and Italian coffee with cream taste rich and wonderful... Fast food restaurant
Semsema is a popular fast-food venue in Cairo, with branches in Dokki and Downtown Mall in Sheikh Zayed. It offers budget-friendly options like the infamous shawarma Kaiser, meat fajitas, and beef liver sandwiches. Known for its taameya, a version of falafel made from fava beans with herbs and spices, Semsema serves it crispy on the outside and tender on the inside on warm pita bread with fresh vegetables and tahini sauce.
Nostalgia, my dad showed me the place when I was a kid ❤️❤️ The best Egyptian style Shawarma

Marawan M — Google review
Delivery from Semsema was… fine. Nothing to rave about, nothing to cry over. The mombar could definitely use a little more spice to wake it up. Still, as the saying goes, hunger is the best cook — and on an empty stomach, even ‘just ok’ does the job.
Marwan R — Google review
Definitive review for this popular place: Bread: below average. Seems industrial and not fresh. Chewy. Meat: below average. Beef and lamb that were ordered were bland, overcooked and completely dry. Sauce: above average. Good sauce! Service: 0. Absolute garbage. I would have left if it wasn’t for the fact that you have to pay in advance. There is a well organized number system where each order is labeled and should be prepared in the chronological order. But the sight of the waiters must be completely impaired because they do whatever they want and will act as if you didn’t exist. Bottomline: go somewhere else

✅Amazingly tasty food they make! 💯 We ate beef shawarma/doner they were famous for and hawawshi, and they were very very good, the best ones we ate in Cairo till now. The worker/chef/boss was very kind and speaks English well. ✅👍

A true local gem! 🇪🇬🔥 As a French tourist, I ate at Semsema in Cairo and honestly, incredible! I had the grilled chicken skewers, super tender, perfectly seasoned, and cooked to perfection, and the beef shawarma with coriander, an absolute delight full of rich, balanced flavors. The service is fast, the atmosphere authentic, and the portions generous without being overwhelming. A must-try if you want to taste real Egyptian cuisine, simple, flavorful, and made with love. The staff is very kind and respectful, thank you to the whole team. Highly recommended!

The restaurant Tayer Ya Fatayer Zamalek in Zamalek offers a delightful dining experience with its delicious food and friendly staff. The pies are outstanding, with a thin crust and high-quality ingredients. The white chocolate dessert is also worth trying. Although the prices are slightly high for a pie, it's still recommended for a quick bite. However, the seating could be more comfortable. The food itself is amazing, and the prices are reasonable.
I had a wonderful experience dining here. From the moment I walked in, the atmosphere felt warm and welcoming. The soft background music created a relaxing setting — just the right volume to enjoy conversation while still adding to the charm of the place. The menu was impressive, with a rich selection of local varieties that showcased authentic flavors. Each dish I tried was thoughtfully prepared and beautifully presented. The tastes were outstanding — balanced, fresh, and full of character. It’s clear that the kitchen takes pride in using quality ingredients and highlighting local traditions. Service was attentive without being intrusive, adding to the overall comfort of the meal. This is the kind of restaurant that leaves you satisfied both with the food and the experience. Perfect for a relaxed evening, or to share the best of local cuisine with friends and family. I’ll definitely be coming back.

El Gomhoureya Restaurant, located in Downtown Cairo, is renowned for its specialty dish of stuffed pigeons. The tender meat allows you to even eat the bones, and the well-spiced rice complements it perfectly. Additionally, their giant moza or 1/4 kilo of nifa is worth trying. While some aspects like the service and ambiance may not be top-notch, the friendly staff and delicious food make it a recommended dining spot.
It's a very local place to try meat and maybe pigeons if you're brave enough. Reasonable pricing. The meat was very good and tasty. Definitely worth a stop.
Rushan — Google review
I recently dined at Algomhoureya Restaurant in Downtown Cairo, and overall, the experience was average. The food was decent, but nothing particularly stood out. I wouldn’t recommend ordering the stuffed pigeon—it was underwhelming and not as flavorful as I’d hoped. One downside was the service. The waiter seemed to have a bit of an attitude, which made the experience less enjoyable. Additionally, I was disappointed when I couldn’t find a specific soft drink I wanted on the menu, and the staff wasn’t helpful in resolving the issue. I ended up walking about 500 meters outside the restaurant to find it myself. While the location is convenient, the overall experience didn’t meet my expectations. There are certainly better options in the area.
Mahmoud K — Google review
Local restaurant, so don't expect anything fancy. The pigeon was properly cooked, but i was impressed with the rice, well seasoned and you can taste the spice even though not overpowering.
Arief A — Google review
Rice inside fresh pigeon, you have to try once you are in Egypt, one rice pigeon and one grilled is enough for a person that cost 300 Egypt pounds. Only my concern sitting place need to improve. 🇵🇰

El Gomhoureya Restaurant – A decent spot in Cairo offering traditional dishes with a straightforward, no-frills experience. Good for a casual meal, though not exceptional.
Attia A — Google review
Nice place to enjoy fresh made pigeon and something you need to try when in Egypt I guess. The pigeon is smaller than expected and doesn't contain a lot of meat. It is still some tender and good tasting meat though. We had some beef too. The place itself looks horrible but that's what it is.
Sander V — Google review
If just the people are nicer, you know what you are paying for and the place is cleaner it would take 7 stars not 5,because this is the best place to pigeons... And sojok. Tehina is horrible, green salad is okay,, pickels are amazing I love the grilled pigeons more than the stuffed ones, chairs are not comfortable at all unfortunately. We go once a year and that's a nice rate that we like especially that it is much more expensive now...

Taza, located on Dokki's Tahrir Street, is a popular spot known for its diverse menu and affordable prices. The restaurant offers a wide range of options including half boneless grilled chicken served with bread, fries, and garlic mayo sauce, as well as Chicken Roll sandwiches and Hawawshi sandwiches. Despite the language barrier for non-Arabic speakers, customers can easily place their orders for items like shawarma beef or chicken wraps.
The place is very crowded yes and the wait is about 45-60 minutes, but they server the best chicken and beef shawarma I tasted in all of Egypt. And as the name implies the beef actually tasted fresh. I came with my friend and we weren’t disappointed, definitely will come again and recommend.

Is this the worst restaurant in all of Cairo? After having visited 50+ 4 star rated restaurants, this one takes the crown as the WORST. It took 1 hour and 15 minutes before our food arrived, and it was such a poor quality that not even the homeless people wanted it. 0,0 stars from me. The place doesnt even deserve a single star.
Andre T — Google review
The experience was very bad. The food was below mid. The service is miserable, there is no organization at all they missed our order and we waited nearly an hour and they hadn’t even started making it. Not to mention the poor hygiene and them touching the shawarma with bare hands. Not gonna be near there again.
Rahma H — Google review
The food is awesome, however they don't usually answer the phone calls, some of the numbers are not updated, the delivery service gets extremely late 2+hrs. in some cases, they should really work on that the they would be perfect.
Mohamed M — Google review
Serve very tasty, delicious and traditional Egyptian food. Inside restaurant is not clean, overcrowded and no place to sit inside you should take away. I should wait about 30 minutes to take my half chicken and rice because many delivery requests before me. The prices was cheap and fair. I think best option to take chicken or beef sandwich 🥪 because you can take it within 5 minutes. I found chicken more delicious than beef 😋 😍
Saleh A — Google review
The food is great as well as the prices , but sometimes it takes too long .

December 2021: very popular blue collar and student joint. They have some beef chicken and seafood meals that are worth trying and very affordable. I tried beef shawarma in Burger bun and shrimp in french baguette. The bread is too much in both. Shawarma taste was bland and shrimp was good but just to much bread. So the final verdict is, economical, clean and popular. Try it for yourself.

Quaint and bright cafe near the Egypt Museum in downtown Cairo. We walked past it in the morning and decided to visit for lunch. The beef sandwich was good but it's the chips that was the best. Freshly made with nice seasoning. The banana frappe was okay, I would recommend without cream. With 270degrees of views of the square, it's a lovely spot to rewind and recharge. Their selection of sweets and cakes look enticing as well.

Right across from the Egyptian Museum is a great location. Food is good & fresh. French onion soup was hot and tasty, sandwiches came with small fries & salad. The hot chocolate was delicious especially after only having mint tea for a week. It’s the service that lets it down, completely ignored when entering even though there were 3 staff doing nothing. Had to ask if order at counter or sit. Order was then wrong as they didnt write it down. But this is par for the course in Egypt, the food was hot & came quickly once we ordered. Would still come again for food & it’s nice and clean. The other problem is there’s no prices on menu so you don’t know how much until you pay and the cost which was quite a lot once you add the tax & their service charge… which is a cheek when the service was the worse part

My favorite place! The young chef on the high counter is brilliant! He makes great plates and will ensure you are happy with the food! There are a couple of young men working there who are pleasant and helpful. The older gentleman has an unpleasant attitude. I have dealt with him before. When I asked him to clean the table this time, he just added a plastic cover over the dirty table, so I asked someone else to wait on us. Fava beans, "shrimp" fries, eggs with basterma with real ghee, cheese, tea, and fresh bread! Don't forget the arugula, salads, lemon, eggplants, and pickled veggies! Highly recommend this place. Make sure to take a taxi or something. The area nearby is sketchy.

They are famous for their pigeons, grilled or stuffed with rice and is really tasty. They are not known for their service, cleanness, or generally for tourists that used to western service or expectations. Our restaurant was in an alley space, many cats at your feet, some are fighting. The waiters are wise guys, not really interested in serving tourists, they know you won’t be repeating customers. Keep an eye on your bill they do make “mistakes” by overcharging, funny never make a mistake of making undercharging 🤣 You come for the pigeons and experience the real local life, if you aren’t up to that don’t come here. Go to your hotel restaurant 😄 FYI, they have other cleaner locations. Good luck of getting a taxi into or finding a taxi going home. Ask how we know🙄

Food: stuffed pigeon, Kofta & Trab. It is nice, I am no expert in Egyptian cuisine, but this food is up to my liking! Service: staff didn’t really going to take care of you, and doesn’t speak English well. We are lucky to meet a kind English speaking Egyptian couple who eating there to recommend and help us with our order. And the waiter still ask for tips and I think the shop overly charged me. Atmosphere: the shop is located at one end of alley, not easy to find I would say. Not spacious, not very clean. But as a tourist, have to have reasonable expectations visit where you are at.

The ambiance is very raw. You have to sit in the alley or the chairs in small makeshift shops, used as dining area. Food is good and prices are very economical. You get lots of cats near you when you dine in.

I enjoy this resturant, the food is delicious, I really like the pigeons and tarp. The place is just a little local outside resturant, on the street, it's full of local activity and cats, cats are a part of Egypt and they enjoy roasted meats like we do. The resturant works at keeping the cats away, I don't mind the kitties and even feed them, I eat here everytime I am back in Egypt.

The quality of the food is 4 of 10 All food was full of fat Very expensive and over priced the restaurant tables almost on the street with an enormous number of cats, so it is not a suitable place if you have a cat phobia all the salads, water and bread are added to the bill without your request The service was okay.

I had breakfast at Simondos , and it was a delightful experience. The atmosphere was good & cozy—morning. Must needed Soft music and comfortable seating . The breakfast menu had a good variety of options. I ordered croissants 🥐 ,coffee and crème Porle everything was fresh, flavorful, and nicely presented. The ingredients tasted high-quality, and the portions were just right—satisfying without being too heavy. Service was excellent. The staff were polite, attentive, and quick without rushing us, which added to the overall comfort of the visit. Simondos also maintained a high standard of cleanliness, both in the dining area and restrooms. I’d definitely recommend Simondos for anyone looking to enjoy a well-made breakfast in a peaceful setting.

Having been to Simonds a few years ago, I knew what to expect. Always the best. Their pastries, cookies, breads etc are truly of the highest quality. The service is professional and very friendly. It would be impossible to describe the variety they offer. Just pick a piece and savor it. Handicap access is possible but there is a small raised step to watch out for. As expected, nothing new here. Just the high quality you come to expect from Simonds.

Very high top pastry and sweet store in Zamalik and probably in the capital of Egypt, Cairo. Car parking is available in the main street 26th of July street but paid. More varieties of cakes and candies and pastries. There is a table service inside the shop for taking coffee with smart cake or pasties. Dast service and the staff are friendly. Price is little bit high but it worth to try in this historic shop since 1889.
Mohamed G — Google review
Pros: One of the oldest pastries in Zamalek, Cairo. Staff is friendly. There's a lot varieties of cakes and oriental desserts with a nice fresh bakery. There's a dining area for food and coffee. Shop has a very unique decoration style. It was a nice experience. Overall rating is 08/10. Cons: Prices of some items are exaggerated, as are the prices of coffee. Dining area is a bit small and it's crowded is weekends mornings. Otherwise can't complain.

Falafel restaurant
Gad Restaurant is a popular spot known for its tasty and affordable food. The restaurant, started by a group of young entrepreneurs, offers traditional dishes and has an English menu available. While the service can be slow at times, the overall experience is positive with great service and a convenient location. Customers appreciate the variety of options and recommend trying the shawarma, falafel, and Egyptian bread. However, some suggest that improvements could be made in terms of hygiene in the restrooms.
Just loved their falafel Shawarma! That's what we ordered as a take out so don't know much about other items.
Shyamna S — Google review
I can’t believe I spent my evening here! The space was huge, which made it worse when the shawarma tasted terrible. At least the pizza was decent and the chicken didn’t disappoint. But seriously, what's with the bland rice? Zero flavor! On top of that, the staff’s attitude was unprofessional. It’s frustrating to see such potential wasted like this. Definitely not coming back!
SuriFied — Google review
I didn't expect too much of this place. What you see is what you get. Kofta and chicken were slightly dry, but there was decent seasoning on it. Humus and okra were also fine to dip the bread in. Can't expect too much for £9 meal for two people. Amazing value for money. Service was slow and impersonal.
Sani A — Google review
Gad is known for its falafel and traditional Egyptian bites. The food was decent, though service and cleanliness could be improved. A good spot for a quick local meal, but there’s room to elevate the overall experience.
Ammani M — Google review
This restaurant is a scam! We ordered hummus and tehinia. In other restaurants, these will come with bread for free. However, they delivered bread to our table and charged us for bread and said not included. When we told them we didnt not order any bread, the manager simply said "you could ask us to take away the bread from the table instead of accepting the bread". Seriously?! The service charge and tax were up to extra 26-28% on the bill. Credit card is not accepted here. The staff could barely speak English. My advice is to order takeaway instead!Dont sit in!!

I am feeling sick after eating at this place. Had bad experience and food wasn’t tasty (even if it looks so) now after 8 hours I still want to throw up!!
Lara N — Google review
The food looked extremely good but the chicken had 0 taste at all and the salad was very bland
JÄGER N — Google review
Food taste is good, grilled chicken, shish tawook even their shawarma if only it is not located next to a pet store where bird caged are on the sidewalk and feathers fly by where they prepare your sandwich. It seems to be duplicate locations on the map for the same place. Edit : I took away one star because of something I witnessed today while waiting for my order to be ready, one worker wearing red sweater came with an empty small pita opened it and with his hand grabs a handful of french fries and stuff the pita then pick up a fry and eat it while talking to grill worker then goes on to the grill picks up a burger and put it in his sandwich and starts eating in the food cooking area.

Nestled in the heart of Zamalek, Simonds Bakery is a charming spot that transports you to a Parisian café while still embracing its Egyptian roots. This beloved establishment has been delighting locals and visitors alike with its fresh, fluffy baked goods for years. Whether you're indulging in their exquisite baklava or savoring a slice of their decadent caramel cheesecake—made fresh upon request—you'll find that every bite is crafted with care and quality.
This location of Simonds Bakery is one of my favorite. Staff are friendly. Baked goodies are fresh.

Be aware you will be over charged. We bought 2 kilo baklava 2 separate containers 1 kilo ( 1000 g ) each. As I arrived home and weighed them to find out there were about 900 gram each box short of 100 gram ( over 3 oz ) in each kilo of baklava. They charged us for one kilo 35 USD dollars..

My visits to this bakery were uncountable only in a short span of 5 days. Even came here 5 am before my flight to grab some pastries and coffee. Coffee is top class! Create your own sandwich- must try they have loads of meat/cheese/vegetable options.

Really really tasty deserts, This is an updated to my previous review after visiting the same branch for the second time hoping for the same delicious Kunafa, the one we got this time was a bit cold, not close to the taste of the one we ate the first time. The place is still recommended but make sure to order Kunafa if it is fresh out of the oven otherwise it is going to be not so great.
عبدالمعطي ع — Google review
Everything was perfect and u can taste before buying. I recommend going early because it can be out of stock after 4 pm I highly recommend it and totally worth it
Shamol S — Google review
EDIT: Owners claim this is a fake review. We did order from them as it shows on the pictures I submitted and their logo is on the desserts we ordered. This is truly a terrible way to address bad service and reviews. A ton of good places in Cairo, this is not one of them. ----- Avoid this place if you are from out of town. We tried ice cream and cappuccino and had an immediate upset stomach... we suspect the milk they used was not fresh. The service was mediocre I had to chase them to get my receipt. The cakes do not look appetizing either... They look almost plastic. We ordered some Arabic sweets to go and these were unfortunately terrible too. This was a one and done type of place.

Arabiata Shubrawy, formerly known as El Shabrawy, is an iconic spot for authentic Egyptian breakfasts. With multiple locations across Cairo, including Dokki, Nasr City, New Cairo, Heliopolis, and more, it's a convenient stop for locals and visitors alike. The chain was established with the aim of serving traditional Egyptian cuisine to people from all walks of life.

Anony M — Google review
We ordered Turbo Grill and got burned chicken, burned liver, spoiled kofta and smelly rice which seems like a left over. I cannot eat this and wasted money in this restaurant. Please go and find other restaurant to eat. Its very bad seriously.
Andrea P — Google review
In my pursuit to find the best foul and falafel sandwiches in Cairo, I have been trying few restaurants around. I came across this big name. It immediately brought lovely memories of the original shop in Corba Heliopolis. I ordered a delivery and waited excitedly. What a disappointment that followed! The falafel was soggy and sad. It oozed the cold poor quality oil it was fried in. Just one bite of misery and I could not continue. The foul was not up to any acceptable standard. It did not taste good at all. It was very clear these sandwiches were not made with love. I had to throw the sandwiches, together with a Cole slaw side salad that was weird. The only good dish was Om Ali, even though it was cold. I would never recommend such restaurant for foul and falafel.

Osama S — Google review
It's take out only, no place to sit. They have the option of English menu. Food is great, the manager speaks good English and is very helpful.
Marília S — Google review
The Start The start was when some brothers of one family thought about establishing a chain specialized in producing and serving Egyptian foods which are featured with authentic oriental taste targeting various classes of the society. Arabiata launched its first branch in Kourba, Heliopolis, an area with old European style. It had been a small branch called Shabrawi established in 1948. It had been a very simple branch serving distinct oriental foods in the original Egyptian cuisine. It was not a long time before Shabrawi became famous in Heliopolis and lovers of such foods lined up in rows in order to get their favorite dishes. Hence, an idea was developed to open a new branch in another area to support and continue the Shabrawi trademark. Then, we opened Nasr City branch in the 7th District. Nasr City branch confirmed the success of Shabrawi and announced the first leading oriental food chain in Egypt. Since then the openings are ongoing and we are look forwarding to continuing in the future. In 2001, the Company decided to gradually change its name; Shabrawi, to be Arabiata in order to distinguish and develop itself and keep the trust of its customers.

Desoky & Soda Zamalek is a vibrant dining spot that truly shines during sohour, making it a delightful alternative to iftar. With an enticing package for four featuring falafel and other favorites at an affordable price, it's hard not to be tempted. The restaurant competes fiercely with others in the area for the title of best oriental breakfast, offering hearty dishes like foul and shakshuka alongside their famous tawagens.
Food was not as good as expected and the portions were quite small The service wasn't good Indoor and outdoor areas are so good but the outdoor seating have too much flies I ordered chicken creme soup, appetizers, cheese sambosa, macaroni with white sauce, debs el roman sojok, crispy with cheese, ro2a2 and for the dessert there was golash and konafa Update i ordered cispy chicken macaroni it was so good

Only ordered once from here. The food came quickly. It was packaged well. It didn’t come cold or messy. Some plates were more flavorful than others. We ordered kofta, liver and sausage sandwiches. The liver and sausage sandwiches were perfect. The kofta one was too dry. But I would try ordering again.

Perched along the banks of the Nile with stunning views of Cairo Tower, Vivo at The Nile Ritz-Carlton brings a vibrant Italian dining experience to the heart of Cairo.
Mr. Mustafa and Bashar were very lovely for my birthday lunch. The place is serene and relaxed. The views are incredible and the food is the yummiest. Couple with the two gentlemen constantly checking if all was okay. I enjoyed myself here. Thank you
Malepeli M — Google review
I was very curious about trying an Italian restaurant in Cairo, so I went to Vivo for dinner. The view wasn’t particularly impressive: there’s a road between the restaurant and the Nile, and you can find rooftops with more striking views. That said, the service was very attentive and friendly, and I was able to walk in without a reservation (though I should mention I tried calling from my hotel room and they didn’t pick up). The food was okay. Of course, it’s a bit unfair to compare Italian cuisine in Italy, or even Germany, with Italian food so far from its source, since ingredient freshness plays a big role. Taking that into account, I’d rate it a 4. If it were in Europe, probably a 3. The Egyptian wine was fine, not super flavorful, but good enough.

The experience was just amazing, one of the best Italian restaurants I visited in my life, thanks to the chef Paulo he was so nice and came to say hi and ask about the experience. Ahmad and Omar where so professional and friendly. I highly recommend

We enjoyed lunch and dinner at Vivo! Our experience with Eslam and Raafat were stellar. Eslam’s table aide manner is exceptional. We never had to ask for anything. Raafat treated us to a special evening, decorating our table to offer us a one time experience that we will never forget. Chef’s Italian menu is exceptional and the restaurant views are out of bounds! Worth every penny!

As hotel guests, we celebrated my birthday with an incredible view of the Nile from our table. The food by Chef Baobo was outstanding. I had the Risotto carnaroli with crunchy seabass. It had a a beautiful color from the beetroot. I loved it! Our server, named Ahmed El Alfy was absolutely incredible. Very charming and service was perfect. He made our evening very special. The gentleman singing was very talented and fun. Thank you for a wonderful night!

Vivo - the Nile - the Ritz Carlton was amazing! I highly recommend the quattro formaggio pizza, risotto al basilica pecorino e polvere di pomodorini, and the bruschetta to start. The beef tenderloin was perfection. By far one of the best steaks I’ve had. The chef even brought out an amuse-bouche of mushroom arancini which was incredible. The head chef even came out to chat with us! The tirimisu for dessert is a must. We inhaled that. Our waiter Raafat was also amazing and so welcoming as this is our first time in Egypt. He was also incredibly timely so we never felt like we were waiting. This was an amazing way to start our vacation.
