Khan el-Khalili is a bustling souk located in Cairo's bazaar district, offering a wide array of souvenirs, crafts, jewelry, clothing, and spices. Despite its touristy nature and the persistent calls to browse the merchandise, a visit to this historic market is an essential part of experiencing Cairo. The winding alleys are filled with enticing items such as incense sticks, tea cups, and mini hookahs.
Khan el-Khalili Bazaar is Cairo’s most famous and vibrant market, full of colors, scents, and sounds. Wandering through its narrow alleys, you can find everything from spices, perfumes, and traditional crafts to jewelry, textiles, and souvenirs. This is a war field of bargaining. The market is lively and bustling, offering an authentic taste of Egyptian daily life and culture. Don’t miss the chance to enjoy a traditional cup of tea or coffee at one of the historic cafés tucked inside the bazaar. A must-visit for shopping, photography, and experiencing local atmosphere.
Antony L — Google review
Nice view, good for just visiting but everything here might charge you over price like more than three times from normal if you are not Egyptian. Our guide recommend us to only buy things from the government shop beside the oldest church in Cairo, it's reasonable price there.
Tat O — Google review
Visited most famous and very oldest market in the world. Best place to buy lot of Egyptian souvenir but bit costly. Best time to visit - from Evening to night.
Krishna K — Google review
Every traveller should visit the busseling bazaar. Make sure you have enough money to buy beautiful souvenirs from your travel. Also ensure you bargain with the vendors as this is a normal practice and fun once you get the hang of it.
FJ L — Google review
Quite the experience. Beautiful vendor stalls and lots of little hooka lounges and tea shops. Would have been alot nicer if you weren't constantly being harassed by the salesmen constantly. Makes it hard to appreciate the place. Pretty cool shopping spot nonetheless. Best to not talk to anyone unless you actually want to buy something..
Dave P — Google review
A must-visit place when visiting Egypt to really experience the culture. We were shown around initially by a local guide who talked to us about the history and showed us some of the landmarks around the market. We were then given some free time to explore on our own. It definitely can be very overwhelming especially for females on their own or in small female only groups. Be prepared to be called ‘Shakira’ a lot, and for vendors to be shouting for you to come in. I didn’t find them too in your face if you didn’t look their way. Just politely shake your head or say no and carry on walking. If you went in they often didn’t take no for an answer and you had to just leave if you didn’t see anything you wanted. It went against my ‘Britishness’ but I was told later that that is what everyone does if they don’t want to buy. Personally I didn’t buy anything as I did struggle to find anything authentically Egyptian in the shops I visited, and I did want something that wasn’t shipped in from elsewhere and sold at a premium. (I was trying to find a wood or stone carved statue of the cat god Bastet and at one point had a vendor trying to insist an obviously resin version was real Amber despite it being bright pink and weighing next to nothing.) I think if I’d had longer to look around I’d have found something I was happy with but overall it was a great experience just wandering around and taking in the sights, sounds and delicious food smells of the place.
Amy R — Google review
Husting and bustling with people, Khan Ek Khaili is an extensive market place which is full of shops exclusively for the tourists. The shops are filled with gift items including figures of ancient egyptian rulers , souvenirs and lots of items that are unique to Egypt. However, tourists need to be vigilant while exploring this vast area. The shops will pursue to buy their items and they are very convincing. They have some methods to get you manipulated into their web of words. 😁😁 Although, the place is heavily crowded, it is recommended to visit this place around evening to feel tbe colourful vibrance of this place.
Khandker Q — Google review
Do not expect the same experience you see on Instagram and TikTok. This is a highly busy area. It is a lively market with a lot to buy with cheap prices. There are many different small streets to walk down. Cramped spaces and many tourists so be patient. Getting in and out could take some time as traffic is always busy.

The First Mall, located near the Four Seasons Hotel in Giza, is a glamorous destination for luxury shopping and dining. This upscale mall features elegant boutiques offering expensive international designer fashion from brands like Versace, Bvlgari, and Aigner. For those seeking modern Egyptian handicrafts, Souk al-Fustat in Coptic Cairo is an ideal alternative to traditional souks.
Amazing classy atmosphere, and nice coffe shopes. I like it
Mohamed A — Google review
Not that's. Only very casual shops. Restaurants are just ok. Don't bother yourself to go there. The surrendering is not interesting.
Rachid H — Google review
The mall is next to the Four Seasons Hotel. The mall is not big. Not enough shopping stores but it is beautiful inside. It looks expensive and classy inside, securities are everywhere. We only went to the orange branch and then had coffee, then left. I don't see myself coming back here though, unless I need to go back to the orange branch here then I will go.
LynnK — Google review
Upscale mall geared toward westerners. Decent selection of stores for visitors and locals. There is an ATM and staffed bank branch. Clothing for men, women, and children in western style and some Egyptian. Several stores selling jewelry, eyewear, accessories, gifts, and watches. Prices reflect the higher-end merchandise. Service and food at the restaurant on the main floor are excellent. Not fine dining but good quality by caring, attentive people.
Jeff M — Google review
Most of the shops closed. The remaining ones are not enough for a good shopping experience. The mall has a big place in the center for drinks and eating with good quality of food but very expensive. The blue ceiling with clouds gives the place a unique atmosphere. Service is not good
Dr. S — Google review
Nice mall, mid- to high-end shops, never seemed very busy the evenings we were there.
David F — Google review
We stayed at the Four Seasons first residence and had access to the First Mall from the ground floor. The cafe and bakery was absolutely delicious with the freshest coffee and pastries. Security was top notch, If you are in Cairo swing by and have some fun with the family!

Shopping mall
Arkadia Mall is a large, low-key shopping mall in Cairo. It has a wide variety of shops, as well as an arcade with games for kids. The mall suffered serious damage during the 2011 Egyptian Revolution, but has since been rebuilt and reopened.
I recently visited Arkeda Mall and had an exceptional experience that truly exceeded my expectations. The mall’s modern design, spacious layout, and inviting atmosphere make it an ideal destination for both shopping and leisure. One of the highlights of my visit was El Omda Dresses Shop. The store offers an impressive collection of dresses, ranging from elegant evening wear to chic casual styles. The quality and variety of the designs really cater to diverse tastes, and the staff were both friendly and knowledgeable, helping me find the perfect outfit with ease. I also want to give a special shout-out to Mr. Sherif, the mall manager, who handled a parking issue with remarkable professionalism. His swift and effective resolution of the problem ensured a smooth and hassle-free experience for all visitors. It’s clear that customer satisfaction is a top priority at Arkeda Mall, and Mr. Sherif’s dedication made a significant difference during my visit. Overall, Arkeda Mall, combined with the excellent offerings at El Omda Dresses Shop, provides a top-notch shopping experience. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for quality shopping, attentive service, and a welcoming environment.
Yasmin E — Google review
The mall itself is ok but the 4th floor for commercial offices has a terrible management. In fact almost 90% of the offices are vacant. It is a pity as it could have been an excellent location to rent. My advice is to replace the whole management with a more professional one.
Karim D — Google review
Half of the shops are closed.the place is great and prices are good and slightly negotiable in most of the shops. Escalators are half on. The design is great. Only problem that the fun planet lacks of personal hygiene and cleaning The staff at the kids playground lacks of smile To build a good business you need cleanliness and smiles.
Dr. F — Google review
Some years ago, that was one of the best shopping malls out there, but after 2011, it became much less than before, but after its renewal, it became fairly good. there are some good shops for cloths, accessories, furniture & more! Some banks are there too like Ahly national bank & CIB. There is a food court are in the 3rd floor, where you can have good food on the nile river scene! And there is a cafe too in the ground floor! All in all, it is an average fairly good mall, where you can have some good time with friends or family!
Aly E — Google review
As a tourist, it was good to see that this mall had a grocery store on the lower floor. Also, as a person who caught a cold during my visit, it was good to see that it also had a pharmacy right before the security checkpoint at the entrance.
R S — Google review
Pretty ordinary, small and inconvenient mall. Very few places to eat. Only few recognizable brands to shop.
Bikramjit D — Google review
It's good shopping mall but looks too quiet if you compare it with other shopping malls & also there is no international brands
Bashir M — Google review
Large mall with a few stores opened Have a beautiful location besides Nile City Towers Having a private underground garage costs you 30 pounds for first hour and 20 per hour 6th floor is the best one, as my child used to play in the kids play park area Ground floor have Alnasr shopping center, its amazing place to buy your clothes and your kids toys

Cairopolitan is a unique boutique located in a charming neighborhood of Cairo. The store features an array of one-of-a-kind items, from vibrant prints by emerging Egyptian artists to novelty items like a pencil sharpener shaped like the Ibn Tulun Mosque. All products are designed and made in their workshop next door, showcasing Egyptian and Arab references. Visitors praise the high quality of the products and the helpfulness of the staff.
A place full of Art highly recommended and i literally visit it each time i visit egypt .. keep the creativity up 🤍
Bayan M — Google review
Nicely setup shop with clever cultural Egyptian tokens and pieces. As others said prices of items are on higher end (eg. 750 egp for simple T-shirts with some creative design). Area around the store really doesn’t have anything, it’s more like a neighborhood (eg. Missing Shops / restaurants), so it’s not a place to continue to walk and see other things. Wish they sold comic books / graphic novels in English and more individual products designed by various artists (for independent artists they only had posters and stickers… not creative products designed & produced by them).
Nayrah I — Google review
A great selection of souvenirs, posters, and all things related to Arab culture and Cairo specifically. Some items are a bit overpriced, and unfortunately, some of the best pieces were out of stock. Still, I managed to pick up some postcards and a beautiful book, so it was worth the visit
Aya B — Google review
Cute products horrible quality! Bought a bag, used it for a day the straps started falling apart almost immediately, ask the shop for a change or repair and they send me to a tailor to fix it by myself and at my own expense. In summary horrible quality and worst service.
Viviana V — Google review
It's very overpriced for an original Egyptian local brand. I guess it's made for foreigners more and only a fridge magnet cost 200 pounds!! Yet the vibes are good and welcoming staff also. The idea of the store is creative and unique but I wish they considered the prices more.
Mariam H — Google review
I was able to go to the sister store in Giza. Loved everything!
Melissa M — Google review
Cool place to buy prints as gifts and make your house colorful and way cooler.

I did like the art and options. However, I do agree with others that the prices are steep. I know it’s kind of a coop with artists selling their work, but it felt quite expensive to me.

Oum El Dounia Gallery, located near Tahrir Square in Cairo, is a renowned shop offering unique Egyptian crafts and handmade gifts. The store is known for its collection of Bedouin jewelry and unusual trinkets, as well as themed items related to the nearby Tahrir Square. Visitors praise the friendly staff and reasonable prices, making it a must-visit landmark in downtown Cairo. Customers appreciate the cozy atmosphere and the view of Tahrir Place from the balcony.
This is an amazing store. Everything in it is beautiful and of very nice quality. At first, we didn’t see the entrance; you have to look into an entryway to see the sign, and it’s up a flight of stairs. From there, you ring the bell to enter. So worth the little extra attention to locate it! I bought beautiful jewelry, clothing, cards, and wooden platters. Highly recommend!
Sonya C — Google review
Service is really nice. And I like that the sales persons do not push to purchase. They offered a small basket and a drink when I started picking up objects. And I found exactly what I was looking for. Great location. AC inside the shop. Great range of objects for sale. Best for authentic craftsmanship objects from Egypt and the region.
Kimberley W — Google review
One of the best stores. Prices are readonable, with a variety of products. All hand made. Must visit when in Cairo.
Luna D — Google review
On a major road. But old school entrance is hard to spot under scaffolding. Press doorbell on first floor. Not a "gallery" as such, as an outlet for local handicrafts . Not cheap, but quality products. Francophone, but use English too. If in the area, and wanting better than "tat" - pop in , visit.
Bill L — Google review
Really nice local shop for buying unique gifts for your friends. The textiles are high quality and the staffs were really helpful.
Alice C — Google review
Beautiful hand craft from all over Egypt. Not super cheap of course, but for a good cause.

Hidden gem 💎 The store has a unique collection of handmade items from all over Egypt, including Sinai, Siwa, and Saint Catherine. Ask the owner to give you a tour (if she hasn't already offered you a refreshment as soon as you walked in, which she will ☺️) Insider tip: look for the papier-mâché jewelry section, and get you a pair of blown glass shot glasses 🥃❣️🥃

Caravanserai is a renowned furniture and home decor store with two showrooms in Zamalek. The flagship showroom on Ahmed Heshmat is designed like a heritage home and offers a wide range of Egyptian-made furniture, artworks, and light installations. Meanwhile, the gift shop on Mohammed Maraashly features travel-friendly items such as brass lampshades, wooden serving plates, and beautifully glazed ceramic mugs.
I visited for the first time all three branches of Caravanserai in Zamalek, as recommended by a friend. I have to say that I was really impressed by the exquisite taste of each and every piece displayed, the furniture, lighting units, as well as home accessories.

Sabil-Kuttab of Abdel Rahman Katkhuda, also known as Sharia Al Muizz, is a historic thoroughfare in Cairo that was once bustling with storytellers, entertainers, and food stalls. The area just north of Khan Al Khalili's gold district, called Bein Al Qasreen, showcases impressive Mamluk complexes with stunning minarets and domes. Sabil Qutab is a remarkable two-tiered square structure blending Mamluk and Ottoman architecture.
Sapil Abd al-Rahman Katkhuda, which is surmounted by a place for the memorization of children, the Qur'an, known as the book, is located in a street intersection between Kasserine (Al Moez Street) and Timbuksha in the Al-Nahhasin area. Prince Abd al-Rahman bin Hassan Gawish al-Qazdagli, "as a servant of Egypt, that is, the governor of Egypt." In 1737 AD he was promoted to the rank of Gawish, then Bash Gawish, Ali Bek al-Kabir exiled him for thirteen years, then returned in 1776 AD, and he died shortly after, when he was seventy years old in 1776 CE and was buried in his mausoleum at the Al-Azhar Mosque. Prince Abdel-Rahman Ktkhuda was one of the greatest sponsors of the architectural movement during the Ottoman era, and it was perhaps the most active in the history of Cairo as a whole, and many traces bearing his name and his works increased in building Al-Azhar, which is almost half of the roofed part on the qiblah side alone and its increase is higher than the land of the old mosque and has There is a mihrab, and he built the lighthouse of Al-Azhar, which is in the southeastern corner of Al-Azhar at the door of Upper Egypt, which is to the right of the interior, and to the left of the tomb of Abdul-Rahman as a line that the lighthouse overlooks. Also, it is suitable for many scenes, including the scene of Prince Othman, such as Takhadeh Al-Qazdogali. This building is of special artistic importance, as it is an independent group that contains a path and writers in which many of the masterpieces of Islamic art are represented, especially in the Ottoman era. The building represents the style of the three-way avenues, and it takes the form in which the Mamluk and Ottoman styles blend together. The horizontal projection consists of a path topped by a book and below it a water tank that connects these levels with an inner staircase. The Sabil room consists of a square area containing each of its southeastern, southwestern, and northwestern sides. Three entries are located by each entry held by a semi-circular knot. Each mesh entry contains a casting of copper casting and a rectangular marble basin window, while the northeastern side contains the entrance door to the Sabil room. From the darkness is adjacent to a wall-mounted cupboard above a window that overlooks the ladder leading to the book. The way walls are covered with impressive assemblies of Ottoman-style ceramic tiles and the most important characteristic of them is that they include a ceramic plate representing the noble Kaaba. And the ceiling of the sublimation room is woody with colorful motifs consisting of stellar dishes and their parts, and is based on the stuccoed and mediterranean cornice that is not extended. As for the book, the path is raised above the path, and it is reached from the ladder in front of the darkness, and it consists of a square area for each of its southeastern and exotic southern and northwestern ribs. The book has a wooden ceiling with colorful decorations. Behind the three stone pavements, there is a corridor with a wooden ceiling with the same previous decorations. This corridor has three facades, each of which is a wooden arcade consisting of five semicircular arches centered on wooden columns. Below these three wooden facades is a veil of sculpted wood surmounted by a row of lacquers.

Sabil-Kuttab of Abdel Rahman Katkhuda is a remarkable example of 18th-century Ottoman architecture in Cairo. This historic complex combines a public fountain (sabil) with a traditional elementary school (kuttab), reflecting both civic and educational functions of the period. The structure features beautifully carved stonework, elegant arches, and intricate decorative details that highlight the craftsmanship of its era. Visitors can appreciate the harmonious design, the inscriptions, and the ornamental features that make it a visually striking landmark. The site offers a peaceful and educational experience, showcasing the social and cultural heritage of Cairo. It is particularly appealing to history enthusiasts, architecture lovers, and anyone interested in the city’s Ottoman-era urban development.

One of the most iconic buildings in Al Moez st. Everyone knows it, every one has seen it and everyone knows where it is. But everyone takes it for granted. Almost no one knows that you can visit the building and go inside. It's beautiful, and at night it is so well lit, it's brilliant. Usually a Sabil is a place where people were able to drink clean and relatively cold water back then.

Sabil-Kuttab of Abd al-Rahman Katkhuda (Arabic: سبيل وكتاب عبدالرحمن كتخدا) is a historic monument in the historic district of Cairo, Egypt. It comprises a public fountain or sabil, an elementary Quran school or kuttab, and an adjacent residential wing.[citation needed] A prime example of Egyptian architecture of its time, it was commissioned in 1744 by Abd al-Rahman Katkhuda, a local official who was a prominent patron of architecture.

Souq El Fustat is located near the Roman-era church, Mosque of Amr Ibn Alas, and Ben Ezra Synagogue. It's a market dedicated to preserving identity and promoting tourism through a variety of handicrafts and art. The souk houses galleries showcasing crafts like crochet art, batik printing, leatherwork, woodwork, glassware, soap making, natural oils, oil paintings, ceramics, and other handmade arts.
Loved shopping here! A place you can take your time and shop without pressure, I found Egyptian-made handicrafts that I hadn't seen elsewhere. Super friendly, one store even offered me tea _after_ I had bought something. If you're visiting Coptic Cairo then you really shouldn't miss this souk, and if you're not visiting Coptic Cairo, it's worth the excursion.

This is one of the beautiful markets you can visit to buy a good quality of handmade products. You'll find many shops selling different things. The shops are elegant and colorful. You can just walk around without buying anything. There's a restaurant as well if you'd like to eat or drink something and just rest for a bit there.

This place is a tourist trap. Despite that you can find good products as souvenirs. There is one shop though, I want to warn everyone. It is run buy a woman that sells hands crafted jewellery, but it is just made with cheap materials. She will try to rip you off so be careful. She wears glasses and speaks a bit of English. Don't buy from her since I was told later that the prices she charged were very high and the quality of her work was very low. She seems nice but she's a scammer.

El Ataba market is a bustling and massive local market where you won't find many tourists. The fabric section, located on Tarpea area, El ashar Street, boasts over 200 stands/stores offering a wide variety of fabrics for tailor-made suits. While the market offers good quality goods at cheap prices, it can be highly crowded and chaotic. Visitors are advised to take care of their belongings and be prepared to bargain.
Ataba is a fantastic place to find unique, handmade items at great prices. I recently bought some beautiful handmade lamps, baskets, and table mats made from natural materials, all in a charming Boho style. What really stands out is the incredible value—these same items would easily cost three times more in art galleries or upscale shops. The quality is excellent, and the variety of items gives you plenty to choose from. If you're looking for authentic, artisanal products that reflect Egyptian craftsmanship, Ataba is a hidden gem. I’m really happy with my purchases and would highly recommend it for anyone in search of affordable, stylish decor.
Anastasia T — Google review
I'm from America. I understand most tourist probably will skip over this and look at it as chaos, but I thought this was absolutely a beautiful place. You cannot replicate the energy that this place gives off. All of the noise and stimulation, and the pace and the heat, all adds up into a one-of-a-kind beautiful moment. The real deal, probably not for everybody but if your state of meditation comes in the form of raw energy, this is your spot.

El Ataba is a MASSIVE market and where the locals shop. I just love it there. Wide variety of goods with good quality and cheap prices. It is highly crowded though. If you go there just please take care of your belongings. If you are looking for the bazaar feel and the small bargain chats it is perfect. But do keep in mind that you are going to get overcharged on small purchases. Basically everything you would need , you will find it there with a multi shops for the same products and reasonable prices for a huge varsity of products so take a day off and go early to have enough time to check the stores.

Be prepared to be lost in this huge mess of people, traders, cars, and endless stalls. Bargaining is needed. Great buys. I enjoyed the sights and sounds there. Don't bring your kids. Walking over there can be a real hazard.

A unique experience in Cairo. As a couple we took a taxi to the market to find we were almost the only tourist there in a crowd of hundreds . It was difficult to navigate as the streets had many smaller streets branching off and many roads were full of traffic despite the market stalls. Very noisy and chaotic but at no time did we feel unsafe , locals were friendly and on the whole just curious . The stalls sold a variety of goods of poor quality, not the place to get anything special but hubby topped up on socks . Easy to get a taxi roadside back to our hotel. A place to go if you wish to experience true local culture but not good if you have mobility problems or dislike crowded places.
Denise C — Google review
El Ataba is a MASSIVE market and where the locals shop. Don't expect to see other tourists here. I was first overwhelmed by the noise, chaos and shouting (all tourism markets are harmless compared to that) and then asked around, was directed to and then spent hours in the fabric section (Tarpea area, El ashar Street) scouting approximately 200+ stands/stores for the right yellow fabric I wanted for my tailor made suits. If you aren't into exploring AUTHENTIC Egypt, go to the Khan el-Khalili market which is the super touristy market housed in a beautiful and historic part of town if you're looking for that vibe. My highlight was meeting fabric trader Shorouktex. He had no business with me (only doing whole rolls, not by the meter) but invited me to join dinner with staff and family even registered his Instagram account just to stay in contact after meeting me... Every category of goods is sold in different streets, alleys and buildings you need to ask around as there's no directory or other way to know. I'm sure I've only seen 15% of El Ataba in the 5 hours I spent here!

Cool place but everything is overpriced like any other places your tour guide will take you. Best bet is to travel Egypt without a tour guide because they will take you places where they get commission on every item you buy. Which is why they try to charge you double. You can find these online and shipped straight from Cairo to your house for cheaper and without the hassle.

We were taken here as part of our tour so they can try and sell us extremely over priced papyrus. Don't fall for it. They make it seem like you're getting an amazing deal but you aren't. It wasn't till we went to the market the next day that we saw some of the exact same calligraphy and art pieces for dirt cheap, Its a big scam framed as an authentic experience

A standout aspect of MADU is its collaboration with Malaika Linens, founded by Ecuadorian designer Margarita Andrade.

I visit this shop to buy Malaika linens products which are great as well as the Ramla shoes. The products themselves in general are beautiful. However the staff is very unpleasant. They are disdainful, unprofessional and unhelpful. I see that several other reviews seem to share the same views. Luckily I can get the same products from other boutiques which is what I will do from now on.

However, it's now becoming rarer to find.

Hisanobu T — Google review
After spending hours in Khan El Khalili and checking countless shops, I believe this shop has the best selection. If you are looking for better quality items not the tacky stuff, this is the place. (there are still tacky, common items of course) Initial prices are high but haggling is the essence of the whole bazaar. If you are looking for a statue or figurine, go there, pick your piece and name your price. Bonus point the shopkeeper is patient and he feeds a beautiful gray cat
Aysem T — Google review
Buyer BEWARE!! They flat out ripped us off. We bought a red granite cat statue which we carefully examined. They took it in the back to “wrap it up” and when we opened it back home it was replaced with a chipped plaster replica. There is no way we would have missed the several chips showing the plaster.

The camel market is a captivating place with a multitude of camels up for auction. Sellers enlist the services of agents to select the agency through which they will sell their animals. It is common to witness sellers engaging in lively dances and songs, all aimed at drawing attention to their prized camels on offer. Abdulrahman Q — Google review
Rating: ★★★★★ Downtown Katameya, located in the heart of New Cairo, has become a bustling hub for shopping, dining, and entertainment. As a frequent visitor to this vibrant destination, I am pleased to share my review of Downtown Katameya. One of the standout features of Downtown Katameya is its impressive selection of shops and boutiques. The mall boasts a diverse range of local and international brands, offering something for everyone. Whether you're in search of high-end fashion, electronics, cosmetics, or home decor, you'll find a wide variety of options to satisfy your shopping cravings. The layout of the mall is well-designed, making it easy to navigate between stores and explore different sections. In addition to its excellent shopping opportunities, Downtown Katameya also offers a variety of dining options to suit all tastes. From trendy cafes to international cuisine and fast-food chains, the mall has a plethora of restaurants and food outlets to choose from. Whether you're looking for a quick bite or a leisurely dining experience, there are plenty of options available to satisfy your cravings. Furthermore, Downtown Katameya provides a range of entertainment and leisure activities. The mall features a modern cinema complex, offering the latest blockbuster movies in comfortable theaters. This is a great option for both families and individuals seeking entertainment options. The mall also hosts events and exhibitions, adding to the overall experience and providing a lively atmosphere for visitors. Downtown Katameya is well-maintained and clean, creating a pleasant shopping environment. The mall's facilities, such as restrooms and seating areas, are well-maintained and easily accessible. The staff members are friendly and attentive, providing assistance when needed. Parking can sometimes be a challenge during peak hours, as the mall can get crowded. However, efforts have been made to accommodate visitors with multiple parking areas and valet services, which helps alleviate some of the parking issues. One aspect that could be improved at Downtown Katameya is the availability of seating areas throughout the mall. While there are some seating spots, additional seating options would be beneficial for shoppers who wish to take a break or relax between their shopping endeavors. In conclusion, Downtown Katameya is a lively and popular destination that offers a diverse range of shopping, dining, and entertainment options. With its impressive selection of stores, diverse dining experiences, and entertainment facilities, it provides a well-rounded experience for visitors. Although parking and seating areas could be improved, the overall atmosphere and offerings of Downtown Katameya make it an enjoyable place to spend time and indulge in retail therapy.

the mall is a good place, not for general shopping, it is suitable if you are looking for furniture and things for your apartment, it consists of 4 buildings connected to each other, restaurants are located outside the buildings. the mall has restaurants, pizza, hamburger, sushi and so on and carrefour in the basement, no kids area, not recommended for family, has private parking
Muhammad S — Google review
Amazing dinning area and cafeteria with unique wide green view definitely will visit it again and the restaurant i highly recommend ( buffalo burger - peking - star bucks drinks) also an inside shopping area with most famous brands and an entertainment band doing a musical moving show is for sure one of most amazing thing i see 🙈 also the Christmas decorations are out of this world🎄⛄
Sarah T — Google review
It's a fine place with several things to do. You can do shopping there but not much of options (clothes), you can also find lot's of jewelry shop their, many restaurants to eat in like peking, buffalo burger, mori sushi, 900 degrees and a lot more. there are several coffee shops to go there like Starbucks, cilantro, Paul and more
Omar A — Google review
Best area to have your outdoor breakfast and Coffee near the fountain, easy to park under the ground. No kids area but they will safe playing around. Plus having all Mobile operator companies to pay your bill or do any issue with tour Sim card.

Shopping mall
Genena Mall is a spacious and extensive shopping complex that spans five levels, housing an assortment of stores, a food court, and even an indoor skating arena. On the ground floor, one can find numerous excellent establishments specializing in children's clothing. The third floor is home to a well-situated and uncrowded food court. Overall, this mall offers a pleasant experience with its diverse selection of shops and reasonable prices. Furthermore, it boasts an ice skating facility conveniently located on the ground level.
For some reason, this mall always brings back the early-20s version of me every time I visit—lol.
Ahmed M — Google review
Quite an impressive mall with ice skating rink on the ground level. Crowd with all mainly fashion and apparel stores. A food court on the top most floor, McDonald's and KFC on the 2nd floor. Recommended!
Eng L — Google review
Genena Mall is a popular shopping spot in Nasr City with a good mix of shops, cafés, and entertainment. It’s more casual than the big modern malls, but it offers variety and convenience, including an ice-skating rink that makes it unique for families and kids.
Attia A — Google review
Lots of shops, mediocre quality, relatively high prices. The styles and models of clothes are deteriorating month after month. Low to medium class imported and locally manufactured goods. Visible decline of customer's taste and preference !!
Koshari123 A — Google review
Indeed, this is Cairo's most ancient shopping arcade, making no attempt to vie with the glittering modern edifices that have since arisen. Its interior and very atmosphere are imbued with a certain nostalgic charm. Yet herein lies its peculiar appeal—and, one might argue, its supreme virtue: unadulterated practicality. It caters to every mundane necessity, housing a collection of haberdasheries for one's daily attire and a variety of victualing establishments where one might procure a modest repast. Let it be known, however, that one should not anticipate haute couture or epicurean dining. The undisputed triumph of this establishment, however, is its carriage park—a capacious arena where a berth is ever readily available. For those wearied by the urban pandemonium and the perpetual dearth of parking, it is nothing short of a sanctuary. I should heartily commend it to any soul who prizes convenience above the pursuit of luxury.
Madam A — Google review
You'll find more variety in clothes and brands*. Also I like: ✅ New prayer area, clean one. (3rd floor) ✅ I fruit kiosk for ice cream at 3rd floor (recommended) ✅ Ajmal collection for evening dresses ✅ Many Scarf Kiosks *Better than Abbas El Akkad shops at the moment.

The outlet mall is small with a limited variety of shops to buy things. There were two food stores and around 6 clothing outlets. There is a theatre and the theatre was quite nice and clean with air conditioning and good spot lights. Not the best place for shopping but the prices are reasonable.

Very beautiful Open-Air mall as the name suggests with a vast garden and lots of walking paths. The mall’s design is very lovely, the lighting at night was very nice and not excessive, the place is filled with cafes and restaurants, it basically had everything i could ask for in a mall. The only problem is that it’s too far from the city center, other than that it’s a great spot to spend your weekend in.
Abdulrahman Q — Google review
easily my favourite mall. the open air concept makes it feel calm and refreshing, and it’s super walkable. it’s almost never crowded, and the whole place is really well maintained, from the landscape to the shops. there’s a nice variety of restaurants and stores, plus a few indoor areas if it gets too hot. the only downside is that during extreme heat, walking around outside isn’t the best, but on cooler days, it’s perfect.
Yusuf I — Google review
“Very nice place with great shops and restaurants. Best to visit after sunset, mornings are too hot and sunny.”during this summer
Khalid O — Google review
Open Air Mall - Madinaty is a wonderful place to visit and enjoy a full day out. You can find all kinds of shopping there – from clothes and furniture to makeup and more. It’s not just about shopping, though; it’s also a fun destination to relax and spend time. You can stop for sweets, enjoy a nice dinner, or simply take a ride on the tram to explore the area. The atmosphere is clean, modern, and family-friendly, making it enjoyable for both residents and visitors. I highly recommend Madinaty if you’re looking for a place that combines shopping, dining, and leisure all in one.
Raghad J — Google review
Impressive and it exceeded my expectations; very quiet and not so crowded. Excellent scenery and well maintained.
Nermeen H — Google review
It’s a massive open-air space surrounded by greenery, gardens, and peaceful water features. There are plenty of walking paths, and you can hop on a little train or golf cart to get around. It also has a wide variety of stores and restaurants. And there’s a cinema, and a dedicated area with games and activities for kids.
Noha D — Google review
Open air mall is a very must visit spot but not when it’s very hot, the place is very spacious, super clean, many brands from apparel to glasses to shoes to jewelry to restaurants….. gaming for kids and adults, variety of coffee shops/restaurants.. it’s an amazing experience for kids and adults.

It's definitely got a different vibe than that of the rest of malls in cairo. The overall design is an experience by itself. It reminds me of local streets with stalls on both sides, but spacious and modern. The mall was kinda empty, and most shops haven't opened yet.
Salsabeel G — Google review
When I visited this mall, what I liked and noticed the most was the spacious design and the high ceilings. They create a very open and relaxing atmosphere. The place is beautiful, calm, and well-organized, which made my visit very enjoyable. It’s a lovely spot to walk around, shop, or simply unwind in a peaceful environment.

Very nice one story mall with famous brands and shops where you can shop clothes, accessories and food . Outside the mall there is a huge walk area with many cafes and restaurants, all new and well established brands . Very nice place for families and youth to enjoy their time . In feasts and holidays , sometimes they does not allow underage to enter the place . The place is too crowded in holidays
Ahmed R — Google review
Loving that it's never way too crowded like other places, have everything you might need from food diversity to shopping
Nada A — Google review
I love going there ..not a wide variety of international brands but the alternative is local brand names... Very high quality ... The amount of shops is enough for me..not too crowded so you don't get overwhelmed... There is an outside area with many cafes and restraunts as well as cinemas...the design of the mall is nice and spacious.. so you never feel it's over crowded... But the prices are high for locals... But not for foreigners who get good value for their dollar given the economic circumstances in Egypt.. I like hanging out there & checking out the creative local brands..it has a chill vibe to it...

District 5 is a unique shopping experience in Cairo that breaks the mold of the typical multi-storey mall. This expansive, single-storey mall boasts a sprawling 338,000 square meters of retail space, making it one of the largest malls in the city. Despite its size, District 5 manages to maintain a relaxed and uncrowded atmosphere, offering a refreshing sense of comfort while you browse. One of the standout features of District 5 is its thoughtful design. Parking is a breeze with ample spaces available at both the front and back of the mall. The mall also incorporates a lovely outdoor area specifically designed to house gourmet restaurants. This alfresco dining experience is particularly enjoyable during the pleasant months of Cairo's weather. For entertainment, District 5 offers a state-of-the-art cinema, perfect for catching the latest blockbusters. Grocery shopping is also convenient thanks to the presence of a well-stocked Seoudi supermarket within the mall. Shopaholics will delight in the wide array of apparel brands available at District 5. The mall features a diverse selection of both international and local brands, catering to various tastes and budgets. Navigation within the mall is effortless thanks to the clear and prominent signage. Moreover, helpful information officers are stationed throughout the mall, ready to assist with any queries or directions. Overall, District 5 provides a unique and enjoyable shopping experience in Cairo. Its spacious layout, combined with a relaxed ambiance, diverse shopping options, and convenient amenities, make it a must-visit destination for residents and tourists alike.

Nestled in a bustling neighborhood, Lehnert and Landrock Bookshop has been a local fixture for over 90 years. Founded by renowned travel writers and photographers Rudolf Lehnert and Ernst Landrock, the bookshop boasts an extensive collection of English, French, and German books. The duo's captivating photographs of North Africa and the Middle East adorn the shop's art and photography sections.
A beautiful hidden gem with hundreds of photographs of old Egypt. It's not even a bookshop (although they do have books in different languages). It's more of a photography museum + shop and a time machine into the past. To find it ask a guard in a nearby building and show him the photo of the name and he'll show you the way or just climb to the 2nd floor (entrance is on the photos but there is no sign). When you find it, you'll be rewarded. PS. I didn't take the attached b&w picture because photography is not allowed but found it online and only attached it to give you an idea of the quality of photographs they exhibit.

Welcome atmosphere, relaxation, shopping, and unique architectural design
Didona F — Google review
The Open Air Mall in Madinaty is a breath of fresh air—literally and figuratively. From the moment you step inside, you’re welcomed by an atmosphere that blends modern retail sophistication with the serenity of open, green spaces. It’s a true lifestyle destination rather than just a place to shop. What sets this mall apart is its unique design. The open-air concept gives you the feeling of walking through a charming, upscale neighborhood rather than a typical shopping center. The landscaping is beautifully maintained, with wide walkways, fountains, and plenty of shaded seating areas that make it perfect for leisurely strolls or a relaxed day out with family and friends. The variety of stores is impressive, ranging from global fashion brands and electronics to stylish local boutiques. Dining options are abundant too, offering everything from quick bites to elegant sit-down meals with outdoor seating—ideal for enjoying Egypt’s sunny weather. It’s also a very family-friendly spot. There’s a vibrant kids’ area, clean facilities, and a strong sense of security, which adds to the peace of mind while shopping or dining. Whether you’re looking to run errands, catch a movie, sip coffee under the sun, or simply unwind, the Open Air Mall delivers an enjoyable, upscale experience. It’s a standout addition to Madinaty and definitely worth the visit. Highly recommended! 🌿🛍️
