The National Gallery of Canada is a spacious museum that showcases Canadian art alongside global artworks. Established in the late 19th century, it moved to its current location in 1988 and has since become one of the world's most respected art institutions with a collection of over 75,000 works.
The National Gallery of Canada is one of the gems that Ottawa has to offer. It's a world class gallery that should be on your list of places top visit when in the Nation's Capital. The facility is modern, spacious, well-staffed and has all the amenities you'd expect from one of the largest art museums in North America. With more than 93,000 works of art, as a permanent collection, you're in for a journey around the world enriching your sight and soul with European, American, Asian, Canadian and Indigenous artwork. I highly recommend adding the National Gallery of Canada to your list of must-visit places in Ottawa. You won't regret it.

The National Gallery of Canada in Ottawa is definitely worth a visit. The architecture is stunning, and the atmosphere feels calm and welcoming. You can find everything from famous Canadian artists to thought-provoking modern art, plus the amazing Indigenous art collection. It’s a place where you can spend hours exploring and always discover something new. I have been there two times but still feel i haven’t seen the full.
Faria J — Google review
A beautiful building with convenient parking on site and small coffee shop in the building. 2 floors of art mainly contemporary, indigenous and European art. You will need at least 2-3.5 hours to finish. Very spacious. Clean bathrooms and nice staff.
Julie — Google review
The National Gallery of Canada was excellent, with loads of Group of Seven, indigenous, and other Canadian artists, plus lots of European artists too (including a well-thought-out wall of Van Gogh’s progression as an artist). The restaurant inside is great as well, with lots of ready-made and made-to-order options.
Michelle T — Google review
A must-visit for art lovers and anyone visiting Ottawa. The grand, high-ceilinged architecture and automatic doors left us in awe, making the exhibition space feel even more elegant and enjoyable. It took us about 2–3 hours to explore the entire building and exhibitions. The museum features an excellent collection of contemporary, Indigenous, American, and European artworks and installations. It also offers a beautiful view of Parliament Hill. Inside, you will find a cafeteria, a café, a library, and a gift shop.
Chett J — Google review
Such a beautiful gallery with a WIDE variety of art styles and artists, from contemporary to european to indigenous artists! It was only 2 stories but the floors were MASSIVE. We spent 2-3hrs but defo would’ve spent more if we visited every single room. It has a massive open window panel so the natural light is super beautiful on a sunny day. Would definitely recommend!! There’s also a summer promotion going on right now, so I definitely wouldn’t miss it.
Stacy D — Google review
A stunning celebration of art and culture. The architecture alone inspires awe, and the Indigenous and contemporary exhibits beautifully capture Canada’s diverse artistic spirit.
Serenity F — Google review
Many wonderful exhibits to see - I always find contemporary art interesting. With that being said, the Canadian art is what I enjoy the most. Plenty of excellent examples from the group of seven and indigenous artists. Be sure to visit the Rideau Chapel while you’re there. Absolutely stunning.

Government Buildings
Parliament Hill is a grand and impressive neo-Gothic complex that serves as the home of Canada's legislature. The site features stunning artworks, lush grounds, and offers guided tours for visitors. Notably, it has been the location of significant historical events, including the first Canadian gay protest in 1971 and pivotal legal battles for LGBTQ+ rights. The iconic building is a popular subject for photographs throughout the year, particularly during winter when it presents a quintessential Canadian winter scene.
Nice place to visit, but the parliament building is under construction. So the front was literally closed with cranes so could not get the good pictures. This update should be on google to inform visitors in advance. Also, we came to know that we could actually visit inside the House of Commons, senator building, but free tickets were required and those were no more available. When we search, places to visit in Ottawa, city should make sure to mention that we could visit the inside of these buildings as well. This would have actually made our trip better and more informative if could book the tickets in advance.
J R — Google review
Astounding. The buildings are massive. There's just no way to fully grasp how big these fabulous buildings are without seeing them in person. There was a lot of construction going on, but still worth going. I took the tour of the House of Commons. It was interesting, fun, and educational. Well worth the 40-45 minutes standing & walking. They have stools they provide for you to carry with you is you cannot stand that long. I used one, it was great, sturdy, easy to use & carry.
Cecily B — Google review
Beautiful buildings, many of the buildings were being renovated when we visited. We saw tge parliament of Canada, the Supreme court of Canada, Central Bank buildings, House of Commons (I think), and other important structures. Lot's of tourists. There is a public washroom available which is also accessible for physically challenged. Parking can be done on a nearby street.
Nikhil S — Google review
Parliament Hill is an iconic symbol of Canada’s history, democracy, and architectural beauty. The stunning Gothic Revival buildings and the scenic views of the Ottawa River make it a must-see destination. Visitors can enjoy guided tours, the ceremonial Changing of the Guard, and the impressive evening light show. Whether day or night, Parliament Hill captures the spirit and pride of the nation beautifully... 🇨🇦

Great tour of the House of Commons. Very informative and the your guide was bilingual which was great. Tour lasted about an hour. Make sure to make reservations in advance or you may not get on the tour time you’d like. Also make sure to have all the proper documentation that is listed on the website. Be prepared to go through a security check similar to what you would at an airport. Tours cost nothing to book. This is a temporary home to the House of Commons until the main block’s construction is complete in 2030/2031.
Gregory W — Google review
Had the chance to visit Parliament Hill in Ottawa — an iconic symbol of Canada’s history and democracy. The architecture is remarkable, and the views overlooking the Ottawa River are breathtaking. A truly inspiring place that reflects both heritage and national pride
Sandeep S — Google review
Parliament Hill is a must see when you are in Ottawa. The buildings are beautiful and the architecture is impressive up close. Walking around the grounds is peaceful and you really get a sense of history. It is especially nice in the summer with the views of the river. The only downside is it can get very busy with tourists, but it is still worth the visit. A great spot to take pictures and enjoy the heart of the city.
Mohamed T — Google review
I was stunned in admiration of the Parliament buildings . Beautiful view 😍. I visited over the weekend so I had no access into the building just the surroundings and it’s free access. Just walk around take pictures and videos and admire the structures and seeing the busyness of downtown at night was beautiful as a tourist.

Discover the captivating world of air and space travel at the Canada Aviation and Space Museum. This large museum boasts an impressive collection of military and civilian aircraft, offering a comprehensive look into the history of aviation. Visitors can also explore the future of air travel through the Green Skies Ahead exhibition, which showcases innovative and eco-friendly advancements in aviation technology.
The Canada Aviation and Space Museum, located in Ottawa, offers an impressive and immersive experience for anyone interested in aviation history and aerospace exploration. The museum’s collection spans the early days of flight to modern aircraft, showcasing military planes, civilian aircraft, and iconic space-related exhibits. Visitors will find the exhibits well-organized, with detailed descriptions, photographs, and informative panels that provide historical context. The museum’s scale is considerable, allowing guests to explore aircraft up close and appreciate their design and engineering intricacies. Key highlights include vintage World War I and II planes, experimental aircraft, and Canadian space artifacts. Interactive displays and simulators engage younger visitors and aviation enthusiasts alike, adding an educational dimension to the visit. The museum’s layout is spacious, making it comfortable to navigate, even with families or groups. Lighting and display arrangements are thoughtfully designed to enhance photography opportunities, which is a particular advantage for Photolator readers who may want to capture detailed shots of aircraft interiors, exteriors, and exhibits. Services such as a café and a gift shop are available, although the focus remains firmly on the exhibits themselves. Accessibility is well-considered, with ramps, elevators, and accessible pathways throughout. Overall, the Canada Aviation and Space Museum offers a comprehensive and engaging experience. It’s an excellent destination for photographers, history buffs, and families, providing both education and inspiration in the realms of flight and space exploration.

We came here to use our ASTC Passport. The staff was friendly, handed us a map and told us about the demonstrations that they were going to be doing over the next couple hours. This place is really large and they have a lot of planes, helicopters, and a few ground based vehicles. It can get quite loud since everything echoes in this massive warehouse. Most of the displays are static displays that you will pause to read. A lot of really interesting aviation history going back over 100 years. I was a big fan of the display regarding the engines used in planes. Their kid section is pretty small, so it can get crowded and chaotic. They did have a great demonstration for the kids and adults about how to land a plane. Being able to sit in a cockpit really makes you appreciate what fighter pilots go through. Overall it is a really interesting museum with a lot of interesting planes. It's not really a place I would bring a younger child as there isn't much for them to do and interact with. If you have time to walk and read this is a good place to go.

A High-Flying History: Review of the Canadian Space and Aviation Museum The Canadian Space and Aviation Museum is far more than just a hangar of old planes—it is a truly expansive journey through the country's pioneering efforts in the air and beyond. This museum is an essential visit for anyone interested in the history of flight, technology, or Canadian military heritage. Plan to set aside at least several hours to fully absorb the scale and detail of this magnificent collection. World-Class Collections and Unforgettable Sights The core collection is breathtaking, featuring an amazing assembly of aircraft spanning the entire conception of Canadian aviation. From rugged civilian bush planes that tamed the northern territories to powerful military jets and prototypes, the range is remarkably diverse. A standout feature, and one that makes this museum truly world-class, is the exceptional collection of World War One aircraft. This display offers a rare and tangible connection to the earliest days of aerial combat, making it a must-see for history buffs. Beyond the atmosphere, the museum also dedicates significant space to Canada's role in space exploration, providing a fascinating look at the technology and artifacts used in orbit. The Essential Special Tour For those looking to deepen their experience, a strong recommendation is to get a viewing of the special tour of the building located next door. This lesser-known addition offers an unforgettable glimpse behind the scenes, providing context and access that elevates the entire visit. It is well worth the extra time and effort. Practical Details for Your Visit The museum has thoughtfully considered the needs of all its guests. It is fully handicapped accessible, ensuring everyone can navigate the vast exhibit space comfortably. Visitors will also find a pleasant cafeteria on-site for refreshment and a well-stocked gift shop for souvenirs. An important note for service members and their families: Military Personnel and Veterans are granted free admission. This is a wonderful gesture that honors their service and makes this valuable piece of history accessible. Finally, with so many photogenic aircraft and compelling displays, make sure you bring a camera to capture the scope of this incredible aviation assembly.
Gideon L — Google review
Fantastic experience for all ages! The museum features an impressive collection of aircraft, helicopters, and space artifacts, showcasing Canada’s rich aviation and space history. The displays are well-organized with interactive elements and plenty of information. Great for kids and adults alike. Plan for 1.5–2 hours to explore comfortably. A fun and educational visit!
Gopinath S — Google review
Large museum filled with actual airplanes and some replicas of historic planes models and prototypes. A good balance of bilingual information on plane present. The planes are somewhat organized chronologically by grouping them by war, although an introduction before Bleriot and Montgolfier could be interesting. The museum was quiet on a weekday beside 3 school groups. As a result, an exercice was prepared for the high schoolers but no demos no workshops no shows no book reading offered to regular museum goers - that lack of interaction felt like a missed opportunity. Young kids can enjoy busy boards, panels, ride on planes, a library, etc. The Destination Moon exhibit was well done and allowed the visitors to experience and immerse themselves as astronauts. Options at cafeteria are too basic (prepackaged sandwiches) Parking - Indigo 9.50$/day
Allanah — Google review
Lovely day trip out to Ottawa yielded a trip to this place. It was around 20$ CAD Per person, my duration of stay was about 2 hours but it could've easily been three. Lots of cool history here to see, and there's a helicopter ride you can take. Also there's a fighter Simulator but it wasnt open that day for us. Aviation buffs this is a must visit in your life time.
Jason B — Google review
Great collections and great Canadian aviation history! Valuable family time experience. They also offer a paid helicopter ride at this museum. Also got a cafeteria with a snack shop for a quick bite. Plenty of parking.
Jensen D — Google review
Starts at the story of human desire to fly and then covers the early years, world war 1, and 2, cold war, bush and early commercial planes and then covers early space flights, space shuttles, international space station. An extensive collection of planes, artifacts, history of airports and ground communication with planes. Tribute to Canadian ingenuity (CanadaArm). its astronauts, and innovations attributed to Canada. Can spend over 4 hours going thru each and every display/exhibit. Lots for kids to explore. Another hangar (which i did not visit) has an immense collection in storage that they rotate out from the main exhibit. One can pay a small additional fee to see that as well. If you like aviation and space. A must visit while in Ottawa

The Canadian Museum of Nature, housed in a striking Scottish baronial-style building, offers an engaging exploration of natural history. Situated just a short walk from Parliament Hill, this historic museum features permanent galleries showcasing fossils, insects, mammals, birds, and more. Visitors can also enjoy interactive activities and special exhibitions. Notable additions include the Canada Goose Arctic Gallery and the Northern Voices Gallery, offering insights into the Arctic region and perspectives from Northern communities.
You need to give yourself plenty of time to check everything out. We were there for 4 hours and could have stayed longer. You are allowed to leave and go back in. So you can go grab at bite to eat if you want. There are elevators it is 4 stories high. The amount of fossil displays are awesome. They have beautiful displays of wildlife from birds to Polar bears. It wasn't bad in price 58 dollars for 2 adults and a child with the Butterfly exhibit interactions My son who is 35 enjoyed it just as much as my 6 year old granddaughter.

A Fascinating Visit to the Canadian Museum of Nature My family and I recently had the pleasure of visiting the Canadian Museum of Nature, and it was a truly fantastic day out. Located in a striking "castle" that adds to its charm, the museum is an absolute gem for anyone interested in the natural world. The museum's exhibits are incredibly well-designed and captivating. We were all completely engrossed, from the towering dinosaur skeletons in the Fossil Gallery to the live creatures in the "Bugs Alive" and "Pacific Discovery Tank" exhibits. The Mammal Gallery, with its beautifully detailed dioramas, and the Bird Gallery were also huge hits. It's clear that a lot of effort has gone into making the displays engaging and educational for all ages. For families with children, this museum is a must-see. The interactive elements and the sheer wonder of seeing things like a complete blue whale skeleton make it a memorable experience for kids. There are plenty of hands-on activities that keep them entertained while they learn. It's a place where children's natural curiosity can truly be sparked. A word of advice: plan to spend a full day here, or even more if you want to see everything. The museum is much larger than it appears from the outside, with four floors of permanent galleries and various special exhibitions. We spent a good portion of the day exploring and still felt we could have used more time to fully appreciate each section. The history of the planet and its creatures is explained in such a clear and well-organized manner that you won't want to rush through it. The Canadian Museum of Nature is a highly recommended destination for families. It provides a perfect blend of fun and education, and it's a place you'll want to take your time exploring. We left with a newfound appreciation for the incredible diversity of nature, and we're already looking forward to our next visit.

I recently visited the Canadian Museum of Nature and had an amazing time. The museum is well-organized, informative, and filled with fascinating artifacts and exhibits that appeal to both adults and kids. Each section offers something unique-from ancient fossils and minerals to wildlife displays and Indigenous stories that beautifully capture Canada’s natural history. What stood out most was how well the information is presented-clear, engaging, and easy to follow. You can tell a lot of thought and care went into curating each exhibit. The building itself is stunning, with a perfect blend of history and modern design. Overall, it was a fun, educational, and enriching experience. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in Ottawa or simply curious about the wonders of nature!
Odion A — Google review
I visited the Canadian Museum of Nature in Ottawa not long ago, and overall it was a memorable experience — especially for anyone interested in natural history, fossils, and wildlife. The museum is housed in the stately Victoria Memorial Museum Building, which combines heritage architecture (stone, stained glass, carved details) with modern touches like a glass central tower added during renovations. Walking through the galleries, you move through diverse themes: fossils and dinosaurs, mammals, birds, geology, marine life, and Arctic environments. The Fossil Gallery was a highlight — seeing dinosaur skeletons and ancient marine creatures up close gives you a tangible sense of deep time. The Bird Gallery and Mammal Gallery also impressed me with their detailed dioramas and species variety. I appreciated how many exhibits include interactive or “hands-on” elements: the “live” insect / invertebrate displays, touch stations, and immersive storytelling exhibits add energy to the space. Also, temporary and feature exhibits (such as The Man Who Planted Trees) offer fresh perspectives and variety beyond the permanent galleries. On the downside, when I was there the noise level rose in busier rooms, especially with children in tow, which made some exhibits harder to absorb fully. I also found that a few sections seemed slightly dated or in need of refreshment to maintain visitor engagement. I spent around 2½ to 3 hours exploring. For a casual visitor that’s enough to see the highlights; for someone keen on pausing at every exhibit, more time is justified. Overall, the museum offers a rich, educational, and often moving experience. If you’re in Ottawa, it’s absolutely worth a visit.

The butterfly flight was definitely the highlight-such a magical and calming experience! 🦋 Loved how friendly and welcoming the staff were throughout the visit. The museum perfectly blends architecture and nature, offering both beauty and learning in every corner. A must-visit spot for anyone who enjoys exploring science, wildlife, and art all in one place.
Nubi C — Google review
I just went today to go to the laid exhibits...the butterfly exhibit and the immersion "The Man Who Planed Trees" exhibit. Both were amazing. I will be going back in a few days to see all the free exhibits. The museum is amazing! All the staff were very friendly and helpful! I can't wait to see the rest of it!
JE A — Google review
I had so much fun at the museum. It wasn’t what I expected but exceeded my expectations for sure. Buying the tickets online makes your life so much easier. We were able to sign up to both the butterflies and man + trees exhibitions and it was surreal. I honestly would recommend it to everyone to have those visits this summer before it ends because it was so much fun. Take a look at the photos and videos below for more context and a sign for you to pay those tickets and see for yourself
Valentine B — Google review
There were some aspects of the museum that were incredible and very interesting such as the dinosaur exhibit and the blue whale, however some of the rooms were not very interesting or well done. There were some rooms that felt thrown together just to fill space such as the tree and arctic exhibits that was a quick walk through, but it is worth visiting for the other exhibits. It is easy to just go up and buy tickets so no need to buy in advance.

Nestled in the heart of Ottawa, Rideau Hall is a magnificent historic residence dating back to the 1830s and serves as the official home of Canada's Governor General. This grand structure, reminiscent of Buckingham Palace, boasts an impressive 175 rooms spread over 9,500 square meters and is set within beautifully landscaped grounds that span 88 acres. While access can be a bit tricky—requiring a short walk from nearby street parking through Sussex Gate—the journey offers delightful views of surrounding sculptures.
I’ve been to Ottawa many times, but visiting Rideau Hall had always been on my list—and I finally got to go! You do need to make a reservation, but it’s pretty easy to book. The tour is guided—I'm not sure if the guide was a staff member or a volunteer, but we had one person take us around the residence. Luckily, no one else joined our time slot, so it turned into a private tour for just the two of us! The inside was more elegant than I expected. We got to see portraits of past Governors General, peek into the event halls and workspaces, and really got a feel for the history and atmosphere. Definitely worth the visit!

It's beautiful!!! In any season, this place is a must stop in for a relief from the city bustle or to visit the elegant spaces where awards for outstanding acts are handed to incredible Canadians. It's incredible that we get to visit the Governor General Residence Public spaces. The visitor Center has accessible toilets, a picnic area and park. The grounds are flat and easy to navigate, even with a stroller or wheelchair. The rose garden was pretty but the flat water fountain was impressive. The massive trees and plants of the gardens are beautiful. The staff is bilingual French/English, so kind and patient. We asked a lot or questions. My 15 and 12 year old were entertained and enjoyed the experience. They didn't think young children would find it fun. You have to go through security to go in, and they check bags so leave as much at "home". They do search.

Despite living down the street for years I had never been inside Rideau Hall until attending a Days Open event during summer 2025. This is a beautiful residence and the staff are knowledgeable on the history of the rooms and artwork. The tent room and greenhouse were each a particular favourite spot on the self guided tour. The grounds are open during daylight hours regularly. Minus one star for not allowing dogs on the grounds (solution: on leash and fines for not picking up after them could easily allow the pleasure of dog walking to occur).

I had a wonderful time visiting Rideau Hall. The building is full of Canadian history and beautifully maintained, both inside and out. Touring the interior was a real treat, the rooms are elegant and filled with fascinating details, from artwork to architecture. Since it’s not generally open to the public year-round, it felt special to be able to step inside. A worthwhile visit if you get the chance!

The interior of Rideau Hall is elegant and full of history. Beautifully decorated rooms, impressive art, and exquisite furnishings give a real sense of Canada’s heritage and the residence’s ceremonial importance. A fascinating glimpse into Canada’s traditions and official life.

The Rideau Canal, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and National Historic Site of Canada, is a must-see destination connecting Ottawa to Lake Ontario and the St. Lawrence River at Kingston. In the summer, visitors can witness Parks Canada staff operating the locks manually to allow boats through and enjoy walking, running, and cycling along the popular pathways. During winter, the Rideau Canal Skateway offers the world's largest skating rink according to Guinness Book of World Records.
Great experience. There are lots of entry points and there is a lot of room for people with all different skill levels. There were areas that were a bit rough, thought it would be smoother, if you stay in the middle it's good. There are benches and cubbies to leave your boots, but they are left in the open you have to use at your own risk. I used a backpack to bring mine with me. Definitely a great time!

It’s a canal of historic importance to Canada. There’s not much to do about it though, especially if it’s not frozen for skating. And I was only really able to get subpar pictures from the sides

Tourist in ottowa ! You need to see this . This is a place you want to see in summers and in winters. The vibe here is very nice - full atmosphere for a family outing plus amazing food options by the street . The walk around canal is amazing , you can take a walk by water , by the canal , you can walk over bridge to Quebec. Whole area is scenic and beautiful. You can also go for a run or ride a bike here . Additionally - these all places in Rideau Canal area are pet friendly too . So you can go for a walk with your pets on amazing trails . The o my struggle you may face is parking - which you can find if you drive around for 2-3 mins . Overall , this is the place to start your day in ottowa as a tourist and your day will pass by itself . If you are interested you can see when canal goes down and how water is balanced too.

It was an interesting tour, we learned some history. They use an electric boat. The way it's built does not allow you to enjoy the view, the seats face each other. Our guide had a good sense of humor, kept making jokes. There's is a toilet and bar on board.

Looking for the ultimate Ottawa experience? The Rideau Canal is a must-see, no matter the season! This UNESCO World Heritage Site winds through the heart of the city, offering a picture-perfect backdrop for every kind of adventure. In the warmer months, set sail on a boat cruise, cast a line for some fishing, or simply stroll or cycle along scenic pathways-don’t forget to pack some snacks for the ducks and enjoy a picnic by the water. When winter arrives, the canal transforms into the legendary Rideau Canal Skateway-the world’s largest naturally frozen ice rink! Glide across 7.8 kilometers of sparkling ice, warm up with a hot chocolate, and treat yourself to a classic BeaverTail pastry from one of the many stands along the way. If you’re visiting during Winterlude, Ottawa’s iconic winter festival, you’ll find the canal buzzing with music, art, and family-friendly fun, including giant snow slides and dazzling ice sculptures. Insider tip: Many of Ottawa’s top attractions-like Parliament Hill, the National Gallery, and the bustling ByWard Market-are just steps from the canal, making it easy to blend sightseeing with your outdoor adventures. Whether you’re walking the dog, skating with friends, or savoring local eats at cozy canal-side restaurants, the Rideau Canal is the place to be for unforgettable memories all year round!

Must visit place when in Ottawa. Boat ride or cycling whatever you prefer is a good way to spend time around the canal. There are not many places to park so look for parking options.
Dave P — Google review
This is a 202 km long canal linking the Ottawa River in Ottawa to Lake Ontario in Kingston. It was constructed between 1826 to 1832 and includes 46 locks, raising boats 83 metres upstream to Rideau Lakes & lowering 50 metres back down to Kingston. The Rideau Canal is a UNESO World Heritage Site and considered to be the best preserved 'slackwater' canal in North America. You can view locks 1-8 directly from Plaza Bridge. This is a great spot for picture taking and to look at the mechanics of the canal from up close. Really neat bit of sightseeing in the the city centre of Ottawa, convenient to include along with intended attractions around Parliament Hill.

The Canadian War Museum, located in a modern building, is dedicated to preserving and showcasing Canada's military history. The museum pays tribute to the country's involvement in various conflicts such as the French and Indian War, World War I, and World War II. Designed by Raymond Moriyama, it houses over 3 million artifacts including artillery, uniforms, medals, documents, recordings and rare vehicles.
The Canadian War Museum in Ottawa is truly a must-visit if you’re in the city. It’s a place filled with so much history and information, offering a deep and meaningful look into Canada’s past. The museum is very well-organized and presents our great Canadian history in an engaging way, with exhibits that are both educational and moving. What makes it even better is that it’s enjoyable for the whole family. There are great activities for kids and interactive displays that make learning fun and memorable. Every visit feels like a new experience, there’s always something new to learn, discover, or see. We love coming back here, and each time we leave with a greater appreciation of Canada’s history and the sacrifices made. Highly recommended to anyone visiting Ottawa. ⸻ Do you want me to make it sound more like a short Google review (punchy and casual) or a detailed TripAdvisor-style review (longer, with highlights of exhibits)?

$5 tour is worth doing if you have a short time to visit but definitely could spend a whole day here! The cafe is affordable and the outside patio is a good break from the intense subject matter. The veteran's exhibit is a quiet place to contemplate in between learning about war as well. The building itself is a work of art along with the many pieces inside. Go downstairs to see the Viny Ridge plasters for sure and talk to others to gain insight!

After so many years living in the Ottawa Gatineau area I finally decided to visit this museum. I was very much surprised and impressed because I thought it might be a stale atmosphere because of the theme of the museum. I can honestly say it’s very well set up and very nicely organized. If you’re interested in the history of war, this is the place to come. 👍😎

The Canadian War Museum is one of those places that stays with you long after you leave. It’s not just a museum — it’s a powerful journey through Canada’s history, courage, and sacrifice. The moment you walk in, the atmosphere feels calm yet deeply emotional. The architecture alone tells a story, with every corner designed to make you reflect. Each exhibit is beautifully presented, combining personal stories, photos, artifacts, and multimedia in a way that connects you to the people behind the history. You don’t just learn about wars — you feel what Canadians went through. Couldn’t see The Memorial Hall. It’s also a great place for families; children love seeing the tanks, planes, and interactive displays. The museum is spotless, well-organized, and easy to explore at your own pace. The staff are welcoming and knowledgeable, always happy to share insights or answer questions. Whether you’re visiting Ottawa or live nearby, this museum is a must-see. It leaves you with a sense of gratitude and pride for those who served and a reminder of how precious peace truly is.

Great spot to visit on a rainy day. The exhibits are really well laid out and walking through them really felt like you were walking through a network of trenches during the First World War. This museum has lots of really interesting artifacts and war paraphernalia. My one critique would be that they should have a bigger more permanent exhibition dedicated to the minority groups that helped in the war efforts. For example “Force 136.” Otherwise, very much worth a visit if your are a history buff! You might want to give yourself half a day for a proper walk through because there is a lot of information.

The Canadian War Museum in Ottawa offers a powerful and immersive look into Canada’s military history, from early conflicts to modern-day missions. Its exhibits are well-designed, combining artifacts, multimedia, and personal stories that make the experience both educational and emotional. Visitors especially enjoy the impressive displays of tanks, aircraft, and weapons, though the museum can feel overwhelming due to its depth and emotional weight. Overall, it’s a must-visit attraction that inspires reflection and appreciation for Canada’s sacrifices and contributions in war... 🇨🇦

The Canadian Museum of History is a captivating institution that delves into the rich tapestry of Canadian culture and history. Designed by Indigenous architect Douglas Cardinal, the building's fluid curves are reminiscent of rippling waters, paying homage to Canada's natural landscape. The museum features four permanent exhibition galleries, including the Grand Hall with towering totem poles, the First Peoples Hall, Canada Hall showcasing life-size recreations of historical settings, and Face to Face highlighting influential figures in Canadian history.
We had a fantastic time visiting this museum. The exhibits were thoughtfully curated, interactive, and visually stunning. Everything was well-organized, and we could tell a lot of care went into the presentation. Whether you’re into history, art, or just looking for something inspiring, this place is a must-see. Highly recommend it for all ages — we left feeling inspired and enriched.

We came here to learn more about the indigenous cultures of Canada and for the children's museum. They have a great set up here, we were able to go to the children's museum right after getting our tickets to wear out our daughter a bit before going to the main museum. The children's museum is really interesting, much more than we had expected. It is really great that they have so many interactive and educational displays about different cultures around the world. Following the path from Asia, to Egypt to Mexico was a lot of fun. They have the room to rent marbles and other things to build as well. Definitely a must stop if you have kids. After she got a bit of her energy out we went upstairs to see the main exhibits. The long hallway with the mirrors telling the stories of places around the country was really interesting, a bit tricky to read, but very unique. The layout to walk through is fantastic. Walking through history from the indigenous communities, to the invasion from the French and British, to the modern day is so well laid out. Not too many interactive displays to keep our daughter entertained, but just enough. It was absolutely fascinating to basically walk through the history of Canada. Going downstairs to the great room/hall was incredible, the totem poles are enormous. Getting to see them in person and read about how the people carve them out was really impressive. I'm really glad we made the trip here and feel we got our money's worth.

What a great museum! I learned so much about Canadian history, with loads of surprises (and fun interactive features) throughout. I loved the layout, where on one side you wind through the history of Canada from ancient First Peoples to modern times. I loved learning about early French Canada and seeing Rocket Richard’s jersey. The other part of the museum was a massive First Peoples exhibit with buildings, totems and modern artwork. Super impressive. This museum was a great visit and would be perfect for families too.

I took my kids to the Canadian Museum of History and had a fantastic time. The whole place is well-kept, clean, and thoughtfully designed for families. There are plenty of clean bathrooms (always a plus with kids), a cafeteria, and even vending machines for quick snacks. The highlight for us was definitely the Children’s Museum inside — my kids absolutely loved it. It can get a bit crowded and overwhelming during the summer holidays, but still totally worth it. I’ve also been during the school year and found it much calmer. We also explored the main history exhibits, which offer a fascinating look at both old and modern Canadian history. Beautiful displays, engaging content, and something for all ages. Highly recommend it for a fun and educational day out!

🏛️ Canadian Museum of History A museum that feels less like “reading plaques” and more like walking through Canada’s story. The Grand Hall is stunning — totem poles, Indigenous art, and that sweeping window view of Parliament. Exhibits span everything from First Peoples to pop culture, with immersive setups that pull you in. Kid-friendly zones that don’t feel like an afterthought. Visitors tip: Start at the top floor and work down for the best flow — but expect crowds in the Grand Hall. Bottom line: A beautiful, layered look at Canada that sticks with you.

Very well laid out main exhibits and you're able to go at your own pace depending on your group. Younger children will enjoy the great hall and the children's museum side of things. Cafe on site with a good selection of snacks and great views from the gardens

Very cool and a must see museum in the Ottawa area. We came over because we wanted to see all the indigenous artifacts and what not. We were blown away at the totem poles and the sheer size of them. We watched a movie in there as well at their little theatre which was on creatures in the neighborhood and focused on their little lives. We spent 2 hours or so but we could have easily spent the whole afternoon there. 5/5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

The museum at Gatineau is a pleasant relaxing and informative spot, conveniently close to downtown Ottawa. It is engaging and well laid out, making it easy to navigate for a short visit. However, the admission fees can feel steep, particularly for groups of adults during these tough economic times. The gift shop is well stocked, but failed to account for any item that speaks to the fact that it is located in the Quebec Province and not Ontario. The reason they gave was that it is a national museum. Visitors want refrigerator magnets to remind them of this place. So, do not expect it from this location. Otherwise, beautiful place all together

There are also lots of interactive features that make it fun and exciting—especially for kids! The bathrooms were clean, the gift shop was lovely, and the café was nice, with a good selection of snacks and drinks and lots of open seating. The pricing was also very reasonable! Amazing day at this museum: plan to stay the day, bring a lunch (minimal options at cafeteria). The museum offers demos even on quiet weekdays - we attended 3 shows and they were very engaging, bilingual, and great learning opportunities! The train exhibit is captivating and there are some wooden trains to play with. Most of the exhibits have interactive activities, cycling through times allows you to ride and race on a bike, several microscope, height comparison, etc. A whole zone for under 8 years old allow kids to explore on their own - truly engaging. Parking with Indigo is 9,50$/day We will return. The membership (which allows you access to 2 other Ingenium museum) is a good deal.

Canada Science and Technology Museum — Family Visit Review We visited the Canada Science and Technology Museum last weekend with our family, and it was a fantastic experience. The kids had a great time exploring all the interactive exhibits and activities, and the adults enjoyed refreshing their own science and technology knowledge. The ticket prices were reasonable, and with the Strong Pass, you get additional discounts, which is a nice bonus. At the entrance, after check in, they provided us with maps, and each exhibit room was clearly labeled, making it easy to navigate from one gallery to the next. The museum layout is very intuitive, with rooms connected in a way that lets you flow naturally through the space. The amount of information and hands-on learning available is incredible — truly a brain gym for kids! There was so much to learn, from basic scientific principles to complex technology concepts, all explained through simple and engaging experiments. This interactive approach really makes science come alive. There were plenty of activities to keep the kids engaged, including hands-on stations, games, and even demonstrations. Adults will find it equally fascinating, with opportunities to revisit and reconnect with science and tech concepts they might have forgotten. The museum is quite large, so I would recommend planning for at least 4 to 6 hours, depending on how deeply you want to explore each area. We hadn’t fully planned our time and ended up having to skip the last block of exhibits, so be sure to allow enough time if you want to see everything. I didn’t notice a dedicated refreshment area or café, so if you have kids who might need a snack break, it’s best to check with the front desk about food and drink options before you start your tour. Parking was easy, and the staff at the entrance were friendly and patient Overall, this museum is absolutely worth your time. It’s educational, entertaining, and suitable for all ages. Highly recommend a visit!

Very fun to walk around and learn about the advancement of the technology we see everyday, the the technology we left behind. We loved the Sound section with the fun gadgets we could play around with. The Kitchen section felt the most informative and the steam power section was the most fun to walk around due to the absolute scale of the trains. The building also looks quite nice.

Notre Dame Cathedral Basilica, dating back to the 19th century, is a significant landmark in Ottawa. It is the oldest and largest church in the city, featuring striking Neo-Gothic architecture with skyline-dominating spires. The austere neoclassical exterior gives way to a colorful and elaborate interior adorned with magnificent stained-glass windows, intricate carvings, and hundreds of sculptures of religious figures.
Beautiful cathedral with metal spires. Opposite the art gallery and the spider sculpture. Very accessible from downtown and the parliament buildings. Inside is a stunning building with a beautiful 'night sky' roof and stained glass windows, some of which open to let fresh air in. Worth a visit from an art perspective or a place for some quiet contemplation.

Beautiful building. Hard to get good pictures inside without disturbing everyone even though it wasn't a mass time. Loved hearing the bells ring at noon and 6 pm. They do ask all visitors to pay some money even if you don't do the tour.

I recently had the chance to visit the Notre-Dame Cathedral Basilica in Ottawa, and it truly exceeded my expectations. From the outside, the twin spires and detailed façade stand out beautifully, but the interior is what leaves you speechless. The carved wooden details, hand-painted ceilings, and colorful stained-glass windows create a warm, spiritual atmosphere. The sound of the grand organ adds to the sense of awe and peace. It’s a perfect place for quiet reflection and appreciating art, architecture, and history all in one. Services are offered in both English and French, reflecting Ottawa’s cultural harmony. If you visit the city, don’t miss this stunning landmark — it’s one of the most beautiful and peaceful places in Ottawa

This church in Ottawa is a must visit landmark and one of the city's most breathtaking sights. Whether you're into architecture, history, or simply looking for a quiet inspiring place to reflect, the Notre Dame Cathedral Basilica is not to be missed when visiting. The twin silver spires is so eye-catching even from far away, very majestic. Once you step inside, the beauty is breathtaking, every angle reveals more craftsmanship and history, and I could easily spend hours admiring it all, inside and out.

A truly peaceful and healing experience. The atmosphere inside the church felt calm and comforting - a perfect place for reflection and quiet moments. We arrived during the mass service, so we had to wait about an hour before entering. The staff at the front were kind and guided us patiently, making the wait worthwhile. Once inside, the serenity and spiritual energy made the experience even more special.

The Notre-Dame Cathedral Basilica is absolutely breathtaking. From the outside, its twin spires rise above the city and make it one of Ottawa’s most iconic landmarks. Inside, the beauty is even more striking—vaulted blue ceilings painted with golden stars, ornate wooden sculptures, and stunning stained-glass windows that bring incredible light and colour into the space. The craftsmanship and attention to detail are remarkable, especially in the sanctuary with its intricate carvings and statues. It’s not just a place of worship, but also a work of art and a piece of Canadian history. Whether you’re visiting for quiet reflection, to admire the architecture, or to experience one of the concerts or services, it leaves a lasting impression. A must-see when in Ottawa.

The Bank of Canada Museum, located just steps away from Parliament Hill in Ottawa, has recently undergone a major renovation and is now open to the public. The museum offers interactive exhibits that educate visitors of all ages about the significance of money and currency in the economy. Guests can create their own avatars and explore various displays, including learning how to detect counterfeit currency and discovering banknotes from around the world. The museum provides an engaging experience with video game-style interactive exhibits.
Our visit to the Bank of Canada Museum was a refreshing and educational highlight during our trip to Ottawa. Located just steps from Parliament Hill, this modern, well-curated museum offers deep insights into the history, mechanics, and future of Canada’s economy—making it a must-visit, especially for those with an interest in finance, currency, or global economic systems. From the moment we entered, the museum impressed us with its interactive displays, rich visuals, and multilingual audio guides. The museum does an excellent job of demystifying complex topics like inflation, trade, employment, and economic planning. Exhibits such as “What a Coin is Worth” and “Engines of the Economy” explain how currency has evolved over time and how national economies are built and sustained. One of the most nostalgic moments for us was seeing preserved currencies from around the world, including India’s now-discontinued 500 and 1000 rupee notes. It brought back memories and highlighted the global nature of economic history. Other intriguing exhibits included a historic balance scale, antique cash registers, and a beautifully detailed silver teapot with royal engravings symbolizing past presentations or ceremonial use. The museum also features: • Large-scale digital maps showing immigration and global trade patterns • Insights into Canada’s Great Depression, economic recessions, and recovery strategies • Real-time, forward-looking audio-visual content about Canada’s future economic priorities • Touch-screen games and quizzes that make the visit engaging for both adults and children There is also a souvenir shop inside the museum, offering currency-themed memorabilia and educational gifts. As a family with a young child, we appreciated that the museum was fully stroller-accessible, air-conditioned, and clean with well-organized pathways. I personally would have loved to spend an entire day exploring each exhibit in depth, but with a family schedule to balance, we made the most of a half-day visit. The Bank of Canada Museum goes far beyond just displaying money. It narrates the story of Canada’s economy, its global connections, and the vital role of trust, governance, and innovation in monetary systems. Whether you’re a history buff, finance professional, student, or curious visitor, this museum delivers a rich and rewarding experience.

Gatineau Park, just a short distance from downtown Ottawa, is a vast green space spanning over 361 square kilometers. It boasts an extensive network of about 165 kilometers of hiking trails with varying levels of difficulty, offering stunning scenic views and access to beautiful lakes such as Pink Lake and King Mountain. As the second most-visited park in Canada, it provides diverse biodiversity and recreational opportunities including cycling, with limited car access during the week.
Beautiful park with so much to do and see. You could easily spend several days here and probably not see everything. But definitely worth the trip for any nature lover.

This is a beautiful place to go with family and friends. I when in fall but it was super cold. Highly recommend to go in summer. We went to pink lake it was beautiful. But the service was terrible. We went at 11:30 when we arrived they did not let us in they said “ we open at 12:30” so we parked on the side of the road to program google maps. When we were doing that they let 3 cars in. It was 11:30! So we try backing up to go in the Parc but they were like “no way this is happening” and took out their phone and started filming us! So we left. We can back at 12:45 and they let us in. We drives to the pink lake parking lot. And they blocked the parking lot and said full. At 12:45 it was full! It opened 15 minutes ago! We ask them where to go and they said “find a parking and walk here it’s a sort walk!” Every attraction was like 1-2 km way and steep and they except us to walk that far with kids. And them one kind one said you may park in the front and take shuttle buses to come here. And that what we did. After pink lake we tried to go to another attraction with car again no parking and bad service. They said “ come back another day” so we were like that enough were going home. We parked on the side and programmed google maps for home and they won’t stop asking us to leave. I went on a Sunday. So don’t go on weekends. I’m never going there again!

Living in Ottawa we are absolutely spoiled rotten having a gorgeous National Park that is a 55 minute 🚲 ride from Downtown Ottawa. I personally don’t need a cottage because I can bike to Meech lake and hang out in one of the most beautiful lakes in Canada IMO. The amenities are excellent, staff are always really helpful, shuttles and e bikes have really upped accessibility of the Park to all users. They also close down the parkways throughout the summer for Active Transportation uses (which many love…esp 🚲 and 🏃s). Don’t forget that both Chelsea and Wakefield are two amazing destinations immediately adjacent to both ends of the Park.

Great place to go cycling up to the few lookouts and lakes around the park. Lots of parkings before getting there. No cars allowed during the week except on Wednesday afternoons.

The Supreme Court of Canada, located in Ottawa, Ontario, is a significant legal institution and a popular tourist attraction. This stately judicial center offers free guided tours, showcasing its impressive Art Deco architecture and historical significance. The court serves as the country's highest court of appeal and features nine judges who convene for three sessions annually. Visitors can explore the building's courtrooms, art gallery, and library while admiring its period features.
Got a tour of this hallowed court on Canada Day 🇨🇦 you learn about the legal system and where the highest court comes in! SPOILER: at the very end and for only 5 - 10 % of the cases that request to be there. All of the tour guides are current law students who are kind of research aids to the Supreme Court…supremes ? Is that the term ? Judges I guess! JUSTICES! The washrooms are super fancy and I believe each judge has their own locker. For obvious reasons, you do have to go through an airport style security check, but it usually goes by pretty quick!

We took the guided tour. Alexandria did a great job on the tour and answering our questions.

Having often heard about rulings and decisions from the Supreme Court of Canada in the news, it was great to finally visit in person. The building is impressive from the outside, with a dignified and stately presence. The interior is equally striking, elegant, thoughtfully designed, and truly fitting for the country’s highest court. A meaningful and memorable visit.

A beautiful place with amazing energy! I have to give a shoutout to the tour guides for their professionalism. I had very little time to explore Ottawa, but they helped me find my way, book tickets for other tours, and navigate through a big crowd of students. Now, sitting at the airport, I realize this city is not just about its stunning architecture but also about the kind and big-hearted people! (25 June 2024)

Went on a nice tour here. The law student (Elsa) who took us around was knowledgeable and friendly. We enjoyed hearing her talk about our legal system and showing us the various areas of the Supreme Court. Really interesting and glad we did it. And it’s free! When we first arrived earlier in the day there were two people outside who answered questions for us and then directed us inside. Everyone there was super friendly and helpful. I almost am not used to that level of treatment to be honest. In any event a super tour, great staff throughout. Glad we went.

The National Arts Centre, located at 53 Elgin St. in Ottawa, is a hub for Canadian and international performing arts. Designed by architect Fred Lebensold, the building features three interlocking hexagons with terraces offering stunning views of Parliament Hill and the Ottawa River.
Spacious, well lite, modern building housing an impressive, well arranged collection. Each piece, not only has information about the artist and date, but a back story to help understand the work. Lots of washrooms and handicap ramps. Excellent locker and coat check with friendly, polite staff. Well worth a few hours to stroll around and admire a variety of art forms.

We had an incredible experience hosting our wedding at the National Arts Centre (NAC). Our coordinator, Kim, was responsive, knowledgeable, accommodating, and professional. She helped us plan every aspect of our day, including the smallest details, which made the entire process seamless and stress-free. The food provided by the NAC was absolutely delicious and we received so many compliments from our guests. While the contract encourages the use of their preferred decor, entertainment, and accommodation vendors, this worked out well for us and made planning even easier. The venue itself is stunning, providing a beautiful and elegant backdrop for our ceremony and reception. Overall, it was a perfect day, and we highly recommend the NAC for anyone looking to host a wedding.

It was a nice outing seeing the Final Fantasy symphony event here! Staff are super helpful at directing you where you need to go. Modern, bright building. Does anyone remember Classic Bookshops which was located in NAC after it opened? They also had a section for French books which was La Librairie de la Capitale. I have not been to NAC in ages! But these bookshops were really nice. (The beautiful photo is Anaïs Nin. NAC had the majority of her books in stock.)

History Museums
The Bytown Museum, located in downtown Ottawa near the Ottawa Locks on the Rideau Canal, offers a captivating journey through the city's history from its early days as Bytown to its current status as Canada's capital. Housed in a historic stone building that was once a treasury, the museum provides an immersive experience with exhibits and an audio tour showcasing Ottawa's transformation over time.
I spent an hour at the Bytown Museum with my kids, and we all enjoyed exploring the fascinating collection. The museum, located in Ottawa's oldest stone building, offers a rich glimpse into the city's early history and the construction of the Rideau Canal. The exhibits are engaging and well-presented, making it an enjoyable and educational experience for both adults and children. It's a great place to learn about the local history in an interactive way. Highly recommended for families and history enthusiasts!

This is a small museum with three floors. They have some unique local items, including maps of the city showing its growth through the years, old photographs, some artifacts from lumberjacks and navvies, as well as memorabilia from local dignitaries and celebrities of bygone days. I appreciated seeing the personal items from E B Eddy and D'arcy McGee. A visit to the storage area for wine and explosives allows you to see the thickness of the walls of this oldest of Ottawa buildings. (Circa 1827) There are employees to answer questions. Tickets are not expensive, only under 15 for 2 seniors. Well worth a visit for history buffs!

I'll admit, I came for the Aircon, but I stayed as this was a great little museum. Really enjoyed seeing all of the exhibits about the history of Ottawa. The signposts are informative and clear, and the museum is well structured and spaced out so it doesn't feel cramped. Very reasonably priced also. Would recommend!!

A Deep Dive into Ottawa's Past at the Bytown Museum The Bytown Museum in Ottawa is truly a must-visit. What makes it particularly engaging is the audio guide, available from reception. This 45-minute audio tour expertly leads you through each exhibit, transporting you back in time to the very beginnings of Ottawa. It vividly recounts the arrival of the settlers on Algonquin and Indigenous lands, detailing how the fur trade began and the subsequent influx of newcomers. The museum also beautifully illustrates the social and economic conditions of that era, guiding you through significant events like the Great Fire and the establishment of the ByWard Market. Furthermore, it highlights the construction of the Rideau Canal and its crucial military importance. Housed in one of Ottawa's oldest standing stone structures, the museum does an excellent job of tracing the city's history. This three-floor museum is a delightful experience. If you're keen to learn about Ottawa's rich history, it's an essential stop. The staff are incredibly helpful and kind, making the visit even more pleasant. I would always recommend putting the Bytown Museum on your list of things to do in Ottawa.

A Hidden Gem for Families - Canada Agriculture and Food Museum We absolutely love the Canada Agriculture and Food Museum! It’s hands down our favourite spot to visit as a family, and it’s no surprise that it’s my kids’ top pick. My son, especially, has been asking to go every single day during the week, and we finally made it happen this past Sunday. And oh boy, it did not disappoint! The museum has something exciting happening every 30 minutes, so there’s never a dull moment. From hands-on activities to interactive exhibits, the kids were completely engaged all day long. One of the highlights of our visit was when my kids got to participate in a cooking class – they made maple cupcakes! Being able to bake something so Canadian and delicious really topped off the experience. The cupcakes were amazing (and yes, we ate them all)! Another memory that will stay with us forever was getting to meet the adorable baby cows and lambs. The little ones were just too cute, and it was heartwarming to see my kids learn about where their food comes from in such a fun and engaging way. If you're looking for a place to spark joy and learning in your little ones, the Canada Agriculture and Food Museum is definitely worth a visit. It’s an enriching experience that brings our Canadian heritage to life, and it’s one we will be coming back to again and again. Highly recommend!

Location: pretty easy to find Parking: large parking lot, but $4 per hour Admission: it seemed a little pricey, but maybe on par with other museums of similar caliber Facilities: all the buildings and equipment are well taken care of and in good condition. Washrooms: the washrooms are clean and are in every building so there are no worries there. Staff: I was surprised how few staff there were around to ask about the animals. However, there were lots of staff running interactive programs geared towards children, so I’m sure children would give a five star rating. As adults, it was informative but entirely self-guided. Animals: the animals all seem very well taken care of and there was a massive variety in different breeds of farm animals. Overall: we were able to see and read literally everything in two hours, so I was quite surprised there wasn’t more to see and do. But it’s absolutely worth visiting at least once whether you’re an Ottawa native or a tourist.

🌾 Canada Agriculture and Food Museum Where barns meet science — a working farm right in the city. Real animals: cows, sheep, horses — you can actually smell the hay, not just see pictures of it. Exhibits connect the dots between farming, food, and modern life in a way that feels grounded. Kid-friendly without being kiddie — adults learn plenty too. Visitors tip: Go early in the day — animals are more active. Expect strong barn smells and flies — it’s authentic farm life, not sanitized. Bottom line: A refreshingly down-to-earth museum that trades glass cases for fresh air, muck boots, and a dose of reality.

We brought our toddler here and had a blast. We saw a lot of animals here: horse, sheep, goats, llamas, pigs, cattles, turkeys, rabbits, bees...The staff are very friendly and took the time to explain farming and animal care to visitors. The animals are well taken care of, and you just feel relaxed walking around here. There's a kitchen where they share recipes that you can easily follow (also treats if you are lucky!). If your child is really bored, there's a very nice playground on site surrounded by some picnic tables. Highly recommend for family with children.

You also have some demo/special activities or story time through the day. They also have a little kid playground. You can bring your lunch and eat on the outside picnic table and you have a beavertail food truck on site. Majors Hill Park is a popular destination in Ottawa, located near the downtown area and close to several notable attractions. This leafy city park offers stunning views of the Ottawa River and the Ottawa Locks, making it a favorite spot for both locals and tourists. The park hosts seasonal events and features beautiful gardens, providing an ideal setting for picnics.
Our hotel was only a couple of blocks away so this park made for a very nice early morning walk. Just past the iconic Ottawa sign is a flight of stairs that leads up to the park. It's not all that large but the paved walkways provide a pleasant ramble with lovely views of the river and Parliament Hill (and its construction cranes!). We were about 2 weeks early for the tulips but the grounds are well-maintained, and there are a comfortable number of educational plaques and stones that provide some historical info. If you're looking for a longer walk, you can go south, cross the river and visit Parliament Hill or you can just walk along boulevard next to the river.

The Canadian Tulip Festival is a major annual event in Ottawa, taking place over two weeks in mid-May. The city comes alive with millions of tulips blooming as part of a gift from the Netherlands to Canada for sheltering the Dutch royal family during World War II. Visitors can enjoy the blooms along a 15km Tulip Route, explore floral design shows, and attend concerts and craft shows at Major's Hill Park.
A truly mesmerizing experience. The festival has just begun ans many of the tulips are already in full bloom. This is truly a place you dont want to miss. Along with the flowers, there are several booths serving a variety of foods, a play area for kids with multiple restrooms across various areas. Overall, a must visit spot!

We recently visited the Canadian Tulip Festival at Commissioners Park in Ottawa, and it was a lovely experience overall! The park was filled with a beautiful variety of tulips in full bloom—vibrant colors, unique patterns, and neatly arranged flower beds that made for some great photo opportunities. That said, about 10% of the tulips hadn’t bloomed yet, which was a little noticeable in a few sections. It didn’t take away too much from the overall beauty, but if you’re hoping to catch all the tulips at their peak, it’s worth keeping bloom timing in mind. The park was quite crowded when we went, especially around the more popular flower beds, but the atmosphere was lively and full of positive energy. We enjoyed walking the Big Bug Boardwalk, checking out the Dutch Pavilion, and learning about the history behind the festival. It’s a great family-friendly event, and the lakeside setting makes it even more scenic. I’d definitely recommend visiting—it’s one of the best ways to welcome spring in Ottawa!
Jojo J — Google review
This was my first time at the Ottawa Tulip Festival and despite the rain and cooler temperatures that long weekend, we enjoyed our time there and also caught the fireworks and drone show in the evening. The only downside was the parking because of how busy it was and construction areas that limited some of the street parking that were closer to walk. Try to bring lawn chairs and get a good spot for the drone show early as the big trees can hinder the view if you come too late.

The Tulip Festival is a stunning experience with thousands of colorful blooms spread across beautiful gardens. The displays are well organized, perfect for photos, and there’s plenty of space to walk and enjoy the scenery. The historical connection to Canada’s bond with the Netherlands adds meaning to the visit. Family-friendly, peaceful, and a great way to welcome spring. A must-see if you’re in Ottawa during tulip season!

The 2025 Ottawa Tulip Festival (May 10–20) was a fantastic experience! Beautifully planned and well-executed, with vibrant displays throughout the city. The event was fully accessible, with plenty of parking and convenient commuting options via transit or bike. It’s a short-lived magic—blooms only last a couple of weeks—so it’s worth making time to catch it while it’s on. A true spring highlight in Ottawa!

A million tulips turning Ottawa into a rainbow—what’s not to love? Commissioners Park was bursting with color, history, and happy strangers swapping tulip theories. The Dutch friendship story makes it extra special, and yes, my camera roll is now 90% flowers. Come for the petals, stay for the beaver tails. 🌷

Not what I had in mind. I was expecting huge tulip fields, but it turned out to be more of a garden setup. I’d always heard, “If you’re in Ottawa, you have to go to the Tulip Festival,” but honestly—it was just okay. Not worth a detour. That said, the view of the lake? Absolutely loved it. That was the highlight for me.

The National War Memorial, located in Confederation Square, is a significant tribute to the Canadian Armed Forces. The memorial features a 70-ft arch and bronze statues, serving as a poignant reminder of the sacrifices made by servicemen and women. Originally built in 1939 to honor those who died in World War I, it has since been rededicated to commemorate all Canadians lost in conflicts past and future.
The National War Memorial, known as The Response in French (La Réponse), is a stunning granite arch with beautiful bronze sculptures right in the heart of downtown Ottawa. This memorial is a heartfelt tribute to the brave Canadian soldiers who have served our country during wartime, and it's dedicated to honoring their sacrifices. Whether you're a local or just visiting, taking a moment to see this iconic landmark is a truly moving experience. I highly recommend stopping by the Memorial when you're in Ottawa to pay your respects with a minute of silence. Every year on November 11, The Royal Canadian Legion organizes the National Remembrance Day Ceremony at the National War Memorial to honor the courageous men and women who have served in Canada’s military. It’s a very meaningful event that you won’t want to miss!

This is quite the monument here in downtown Ottawa. I like coming here often on a nice sunny day and taking in the ambiance of this war memorial. Unlike others I don’t find Ottawa boring and it has lots to offer in terms of scenery and history. This is one such spot. 👍😎

Visiting The National War Memorial was moving experience. I came here on Canada day to visit Parliament Hill, and stopping by the memorial was an experience i can never forget during my Montreal visit. The two soldiers who stood in front of the memorial (see images below for reference) heightened the powerful sight further.

The National War Memorial is located at Confederation Square. It was designed by Vernon March and unveiled by King George VI in 1939 in honour of Canadians who served the Crown and those who gave their lives during WWI. The monument was later dedicated to those who served in the Canadian forces in all conflicts. It is touching and moving monument and wonderful tribute to those Canadians who made the ultimate sacrifice to ensure the freedoms that today's generation enjoy today. What you see is a 22 metre tall monument including a allegorical arrangement of two bronze figures atop a tall arch. Within the apex of the arch is a sculptural cluster of 22 bronze figures representing various military roles. It is a beautiful arrangement worth viewing from all sides. Reference to the various conflicts are found around the monument by way of listed years in which Canadian forces served. The monument is fronted by two ceremonial guard sentries as well as the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.

The monument is dominating the landscape with its height. We were lucky to catch a change of guard (we didn’t know the schedule) and was a nice experience.
Andreea D — Google review
The granite arch portrays bronze sculptures of World War One Canadian soldiers, sailors and airmen. It is also dedicated to those killed in the Second Boer War, World War Two, the Korean War, the War in Afghanistan and all conflicts in the past and those to come in the future. The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier lies in front of the memorial.

Visiting the National War Memorial was a powerful and moving experience. The setting is respectful and well-maintained, making it a fitting space for remembrance. What truly elevated our visit, however, was the brief but impactful interaction we had with a guide who took a few minutes to educate us on the history of Vimy Ridge. Though it was only a short conversation, the guide conveyed the significance of the battle with passion and clarity. They highlighted how Vimy Ridge became a defining moment in Canadian history—symbolizing unity, bravery, and national identity.

Nestled within the Canadian Museum of History, this delightful museum offers an array of hands-on exhibits that invite children to engage with history, culture, and art through colorful displays, costumes, toys, and games. Families can embark on a global adventure as kids receive passports to stamp while they learn about different cultures in an immersive environment.
I Must Say With all the mixed reviews....I didn't want to get to excited. But my child had a blast! I can't believe we don't have one close by! Will highly recommend on a trip. We went on a early weekday - thinking that the place would be mostly empty. From events to school visits , it actually still wasn't overwhelming. We adults had a ton of fun as well. I love the layout of this mini village and world collide. From the pizzeria to the markets to the " ships " to the chess to the craft centre or mini theatre...just amazing! Love the cultural aspects. Love that there were hand sanitizing stations , though not all were filled. So much to learn and also implement though play! We easily could've stayed hours( more than we already did😅). Despite , the challenges of the parking - due to the events. It would be great if they had a spill over or alternative parking spaces in case. We had a few hiccups upon arrival - but the staff were amazing! P.s At the time, we didn't find " broken" items from other review. So perhaps they have now been fixed.

A wonderful museum for kids! Although there aren’t many actual exhibits, it does a great job showcasing different cultures and architecture from around the world. It’s a bit small, but the staff work very diligently, constantly tidying up and organizing the space.

Same thing as the Canadian history museum of Canada in somewhere in Ontario. Where exactly and which city? I forgot. Besides that, this is an incredibly entertaining attraction and museum in Ontario, Canada for children just as the name suggests. Therefore, I, Maximum Nguyen have declared the Canadian Children’s Museum of Canada in Ontario, Canada to be worthy of a five-star rating on Google Maps Google Reviews.

Awesome world tour to discover countries, cultures while doing a series of activities. Build a paper puppet in Indonesia, dig out archeological artefacts in Egypt, fold origami souvenirs in Japan, and much more! Build a log cabin or place shingles on a roof, build a brick wall, go fishing on a boat, play with wooden trains and Duplos, activities are endless. All this with a thematic scavenger hunt. Staff is amazing with children. Lots of cleaning wipes. We spent more than 3 hours !

We came all the way from Waterloo region to Ottawa to visit this place. My 2 year was very happy and did not wanted to leave. Good for small kids. It reflects various cultures and also provide fun time. On Monday Morning, it was not crowded. They have a room for kids to have snacks so I suggest to keep some with you, as kids can have them when it's time to.

I thought they had redone it in recent years. It seems old and similar to when I was a kid. It kept my toddler relatively entertained but I felt it could be better. The fruits, vegetables were oddly heavy and shopping carts would work better for toddlers. I liked the available crafts.

The Central Experimental Farm, located in Ottawa, Ontario, is a sprawling working farm and research facility that also serves as a national historic site. The farm is home to an arboretum, specimen plantings, ornamental gardens, wildlife garden, heritage buildings and greenhouses. Visitors can explore the agricultural facility with its gorgeous trees and plants along with large fields for roaming and capturing stunning pictures.
This is the most beautiful place in the universe. I love to come here to write—I sit in the gardens, or by the pens outside, where it's quiet. It's not exactly the same in form, but the ambiance reminds me of my aunt and uncle's old sheep farm in Scotland, so whenever I'm here I feel a bit closer to home. Truly a blessing on the city of Ottawa. And it's free after 4!

The farm is very hard to find. Needs better signage to find the parking and barns entrance. Our first visit was stressful because we didn't know where to go. Even the animal barns would benefit from bigger/better signs. If it wasn't for the map they gave us, we probably would have missed the cow barn. We were happy to see the animals but disappointed in the variety of them. A few animals are hard to see if you're a toddler. Need to be lifted constantly.

Great place to visit. They do different things every season. I think spring with the baby animals is my favorite. Great playground in the middle. Always lots to see. The area boasts diverse plant life including rare orchids and carnivorous plants. Visitors can marvel at the unique northern boreal landscape with its unique wildlife and flora reminiscent of the Arctic.
Beautiful nature reserves. Maintained well. Lucky people live in this city and country where government work for citizens. Unlike in few countries they destroy nature marshes and build houses and offices in corruption with politicians and govt employees. A well kept secret, makes people good cultured citizens. Great spirit 😄

Nice to go on a little trip with the family. Restroom and pic nic area available. There are signs and explanations about the history of the area and the eco system for all the trail long. Been there during summer time. Mosquito repellent is must take along.

I can't recall how I bookmarked this place, but I think Air Canada had it as something to do while in Ottawa. I'm glad we found it for our drive to Montreal. This is a great interpretive walk to do on a nice day. We learned a lot about the local unique eco system and enjoyed a peaceful quiet walk through the bog. While we didn't see much wildlife other than a couple of frogs, this was great. Even our 4 year old enjoyed doing the loop and looking at the signs and learning about this place. Parking lot can be rough, especially after the rains.

The Mer Blue Bog was wonderful. As a person with mobility issues, I appreciated how well maintained the trail was and how easy it was to move around. The scenery is gorgeous and the boardwalk allows you to literally get into the middle of nature. It's wonderful to see the different areas and the trail I do plaques allow you to learn about the area as you go. I did find that the boardwalk was a little narrow in some spots and I would have really liked to have seen more benches along the way, otherwise it's a very assessible area. I look forward to going back and checking it out in another season.

Highly recommended for a casual walk to observe this well-preserved natural habitat area. Observe many different habitants like beavers, turtles, frogs and geese. This area is recently discovered to have unexplored bombs dropped as target practice during WWII. The walk is easy and flat. Parking Lot 23 is best to park your car for easy access to the nice section of boardwalks.

This is one of my favourite places to go in the fall. Alberta has larches and we have larches with maples. It’s such a pretty area. Fun fact: Did you know it was used a a practice bombing range during the Second World War? Many of these are still there and unexploded. Is in areas where people don’t go, so it’s low risk. Just stay on the designated trails

Fantastic experience. The walk itself doesn’t take too long, maybe a half hour. We stayed a bit longer in some sections because you can feed live birds. I imagine it’s dependent on seasonality but I have no m clue about that. I just felt lucky to be able to feed them. They were literally eating out of my hand. I made a YouTube video about it. I stopped by and explored several floors of the building, it’s truly massive. The staff were friendly and welcoming, and they mentioned that the building was completed in the 1960s, which is clearly reflected in the interior design and decor. I took some photos of the amazing landscape. We will definitely be back in the day or early evening to get a better view. However evening is still very lovely. We were surprised to see that there were many people like us out walking around and enjoying themselves—particularly dog walkers, families and people with strollers—as there are plenty of paths. We were there to attend a swing dance event put in by the ottawa swing dance society in the pavilion on the water. I’ve included videos of the event, which is every Friday in the summer from 7-10 pm. Confederation Square is a must-visit spot in Ottawa, Canada. It's home to the National War Memorial, honoring the Canadian Armed Forces. After paying your respects, head over to Byward Market Square for a diverse culinary experience with fresh produce, cheese from local farmers, and international dishes like sushi and tacos. The square is also perfect for photographers looking to capture stunning shots of Ottawa, especially during sunset. In the summer, it's bustling with tourists enjoying the vibrant atmosphere.
Confederation Square, located in downtown Ottawa, serves as a central hub of national remembrance and civic activity. This roughly triangular plaza is bordered by Wellington Street to the north and branches of Elgin Street to the east and west. At its heart stands the National War Memorial, a poignant tribute to Canadians who have served in armed conflicts. Established between 1899 and 1939, Confederation Square transformed from a bustling commercial district into a ceremonial space, embodying the principles of the City Beautiful movement. This urban design philosophy aimed to introduce beautification and monumental grandeur in cities. The square is framed by an eclectic mix of landmark buildings that contribute to its historic and architectural significance. Notable structures include the Château Laurier hotel, the Senate of Canada Building, the National Arts Centre, and the Central Chambers. Each of these buildings adds to the square’s unique character and reflects different periods of Ottawa’s development. Beyond its architectural appeal, Confederation Square serves as a gathering place for both locals and visitors. Its open space invites leisurely strolls and moments of reflection amidst the bustling city. The square’s proximity to other attractions, such as Parliament Hill and the Rideau Canal, makes it a convenient stop for those exploring Ottawa’s rich history and cultural offerings. In recognition of its historical and cultural importance, Confederation Square was designated a National Historic Site of Canada in 1984. Whether you’re drawn by its monuments, surrounding architecture, or its role as a focal point in the nation’s capital, Confederation Square offers a meaningful experience that encapsulates Canada’s heritage.

It is a great park to visit and learn even more about Ottawa's history. There are clearly marked plaques describing each monument and why it was erected. If you are lucky (which we were), you will also get to witness the changing of the guard - complete with bag pipes! Overall, the park was nice, quiet, and tree-lined with a few places to sit. However, on a hot day, it can get pretty hot, so bring water.

This is the spot you got to be at if you're visiting, or a photographer looking to capture some wild-angled photos of beautiful Ottawa. A latest smart-phone, and you can capture surround-shot, virtual shot etc., Best time to be at: During the sunset(blue hour). Have a tripod ready if you're a pro. Otherwise, arrive a little early so your photos aren't badly lit. Summer time is great here, as the place is packed with people(mostly tourists). Grab a sandwich, sit, relax and enjoy your surrounding. The place can provide you with many opportunities such as, showcasing your shuffle dance or flash-mob skills. No one is going to bother you here, not even cops unless you're doing something against the law. In short, a fun place with many eye-candies around ;)

Though there are some people who find Ottawa a boring capital city but I’m one to disagree. I think it’s beautiful and pleasant especially in the summer months. Fall is superb as well. There’s lots of history here so there’s lots to see and do. This spot is quite pleasant and if your timing is right you can see the changing of the guard. It is however policed due to past vandalism. Otherwise don’t miss this nice spot in downtown Ottawa. 😎👍

The hotel boasts a grand marble lobby, traditional afternoon tea services, and lavish guest rooms and suites that have accommodated numerous notable dignitaries over the years, such as Queen Elizabeth II and Winston Churchill.
We had our wedding at the Fairmont Château Laurier, and it was truly a magical experience! From start to finish, everything was handled with such care and professionalism. A special thank you to Mukarram, our event manager, who was absolutely amazing. She was incredibly prompt, patient, and accommodating — even with all the changes along the way. Thanks to her dedication, our wedding vision came to life perfectly. We also want to highlight Chef Hong, our banquet chef. The food was absolutely phenomenal — beautifully presented, full of flavor, and thoughtfully curated. Our guests couldn’t stop raving about it, and we’re still craving those dishes to this day! The Château Laurier itself was breathtaking. The interior and grounds were impeccably maintained, offering endless stunning backdrops for our photos. We had such a wonderful time celebrating and capturing memories around the castle. We couldn’t recommend the Château Laurier team enough — Thank you for making our wedding truly unforgettable!

The hotel combines the charm of being oldish with modern furnishings in an excellent location right in the heart of city. From here, museums, top restaurants, and galleries are within easy reach, providing great starting points for exploration. Behind the hotel, there is a beautiful park with a pleasant walking path along the canal. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, with bathrooms equipped with a bathtub. However, it is worth noting that there was no shampoo in the rooms, which, despite daily cleaning, was not replenished—a minor detail that could be improved. The breakfast is of good quality but quite overpriced considering the cost, slightly lowering the value for money. Suprised that the waiter takes the tip on their own, although some might find it unusual.

We stayed here for one night while visiting Ottawa, and it turned out to be one of the most relaxing and luxurious experiences we’ve had. The room was beautifully designed, and I especially appreciated the high ceiling, which added to the sense of space and comfort. The service was excellent—attention to detail was evident throughout. Nothing felt rushed or overlooked. We were provided with plush bathrobes, including a child-sized robe, which was pretty cute. The hotel features an Olympic-sized swimming pool, where we spent a good portion of our stay. The presence of a lifeguard on duty further enhanced our sense of safety. The only drawback was the parking arrangement. Parking is valet-only, which in itself is fine, but it is not clearly advertised. Many guests, ourselves included, approached the parking lot entrance expecting a self-park option, only to find the ticket system unresponsive. Clearer communication on this policy would certainly improve the overall experience. Overall, however, this property combines luxury, comfort, and excellent amenities, and I would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Ottawa.

We spent one night at Fairmont Chateau Laurier. The check-in process involved a long queue, and we had to return because they initially assigned us a basic room on the 2nd floor which wasn’t great. But, as platinum guests, we were upgraded to a deluxe room with two baths on the 3rd floor, offering castle views. The room was spacious, with a very comfortable bed, Le Labo toiletries, and marble showers / bath. The restaurant and bar lounge have both been renovated. The food and drinks are fine but lack refinement. The pool and gym area are nice. Overall, the hotel has a historic feel and resembles more of a castle attraction than a true luxury hotel. Despite these points, we had a great stay, and exploring Ottawa was very convenient on foot. I would return, but I prefer the hotel to further renovate its common areas and hope for a better room. I think the hotel is more business-oriented, which might be a bit inconvenient for leisure guests. Additionally, at check-in, they did not mention that our rate included breakfast, which we only found out at checkout. I posted a detailed review about ZOE’s restaurant and bar for those interested.

Stunning historic hotel with excellent service and elegant rooms, the castle-like architecture is iconic. Location is very central, right by Parliament Hill and the canal, which makes it convenient for everything. The downside is it's quite busy being downtown, so expect some traffic noise and crowds. But if you want to be in the heart of Ottawa, this is the place. Would stay again.

I’ve been at this hotel several times over the years, and unfortunately, the experience has declined since the pandemic. The interior now feels quite dated and worn out, especially considering the room prices. What’s more concerning is the overall atmosphere. There seems to have been a major change in the kitchen, and the food has lost much of its taste and flavour since the pandemic. After speaking with a few people, I learned that the work environment has become tense, toxic, and unpleasant. High staff turnover has driven away the competent, kind, and caring employees who took pride in their work, and made this place special. There’s a noticeable lack of morale and respect among the management and remaining staff, and this ultimately affects the guest experience, leaving a rather bitter impression. It’s very disappointing to see how much things have changed, with profits seemingly valued over the customer experience. I wouldn’t recommend this place until the owners take steps to improve the quality of food and services, and how both guests and staff are treated.

As a Wedding Planner I highly recommend the Chateau Laurier for your wedding. There are so many fabulous rooms to choose from for both your ceremony and your reception. As Ottawa's "Castle in the city" its really the most luxurious place to host your wedding. Guests can enjoy an overnight stay and come to your wedding right from their guest room which is fabulous for your out of towners. The location is perfect for all your wedding photos too. The team though is what is exceptional. From sales, to coordination, to your tasting to your actual wedding day the team wants your wedding to be perfect. When custom requests come in they do their best to accommodate, always striving to make each wedding unique. The food is also exceptional. As a wedding vendor we eat at a lot of weddings but we always look forward to a wedding dinner at Chateau Laurier. Highly recommend for your wedding, its a wonderful place to WOW your guests!

Hotel is brilliantly located and looks fantastic from the outside the majesty of the public areas reflects the history of the hotel. On check in we were told 'we used to offer buffet breakfast but now its individual items, so you can only pick one item from the menu and you will need to book'. We went to our room and had been checked in to a disabled room so we went back to reception to request a room move which was duly accommodated. The new room was nice, though the desk chair was tatty, ripped and well worn which did not match the other furniture in the room. The bathroom lacked additional amenities you would expect in a hotel of this standard such as a shower cap. The bathroom as you would expect for the age of the hotel. The room an bathroom were spotlessly clean. We then went straight to the concierge desk and a very helpful guy explained about the city and immediately booked us on to the interactive Parliament experience - exactly the service you expect from this type of hotel. Breakfast the next morning was not great. We had breakfast included in our room rate which I would not have booked had I known what breakfast entailed. We were escorted to our table, asked if we had dined there before and we said no. Again we were told 'we used to do buffet breakfast but now its individual items'. We have never been before so why tell us about the buffet? The choice of breakfast items - we were only allowed one - was limited and pretentious. The waiter was apologetic that we could only have one item and was clearly embarrassed - a lack of training I suspect or complaints that the buffet was no longer available. The food was not great, the hot food not very hot. We stayed 2 nights and breakfast the next morning we had a similar experience with a different waiter - embarrassed that we could only pick one item. My smoked salmon bagel arrived with normal salmon which was not good. I did complain and it was changed. We checked out and I explained to the receptionist how disappointed we were with the overall experience. For a hotel that is the equivalent of staying in London at a Park Lane hotel overall the Fairmont is disappointing. We really felt we were in for a special treat whilst in Ottawa but the hotel turned out to be just another hotel, lacking the flair and sparkle such a prestigious, institution like Chateau Laurier should exude.

Hog's Back Park, located in Ottawa's Riverside Park neighborhood, is a celebrated urban oasis featuring impressive waterfalls and serene hiking trails. The park spans 20.8 hectares and offers picnic areas with BBQ pits, well-maintained walking and biking trails, and ample bird-watching opportunities.
I have been living in Ottawa since 1998, and I just discovered this place by accident LOL. I gave my daughter a ride to university and I had time to kill, so I went for a walk and WOW. Great for picnics, walking and biking. Fantastic

The place is a fantastic mix of natural beauty and man-made features. There's plenty of free parking, making it easy for people to visit and enjoy. We loved the impressive rock formations, and the paths offer great views. We walked along one side of the waterway and then back down the other side. We also walked to Vincent Massey Park from here. Plus, there's a public washroom available however, during the warmer months.

Perfect place for a short loop - 20 to 30 minute stroll or walk! Feels like walking in a forest, lots of wildlife, and sound of nearby falls. The terrain is a little more strenous, would be challenging with strollers and very young kids but still manageable. Extremely pleasant nature space!

Enjoyed a quick visit to the park. The waterfalls make some lovely scenery and the path following the river has plenty of greenery. Walking the length of the park was much quicker than expected, so it seems better for chilling than long walks. Lots of parking but also quite busy on a hot Saturday in August.

Natural beauty in the midst of the hustle and bustle of Ottawa. Recommended to visit in the evening because the sunset view is just breathtaking. Remain careful and follow the guardrail since the water current is strong.

Really nice to have such man-made and natural features readily accessible and developed for people to enjoy all year round. The waterway is quite interesting with various rock formations and the paths provide some interesting views. I’ve enjoyed running through the area going up one side of the waterway and back down the other. There’s a public washroom that’s only open during warmer months that’s useful too. Stop by and take a pic or a selfie - great backdrops!

When visiting Ottawa, a stop at the iconic Ottawa Sign in ByWard Market is an absolute must. This vibrant area, established in 1826, is one of Canada's oldest and largest public markets, brimming with shops, restaurants, and cafes that beckon you to explore. The sign itself features bold block letters spelling out 'Ottawa,' making it a popular backdrop for photos—especially with the stunning Peace Tower looming nearby.
We went there during the snow storm days. The view was mesmerising and more importantly, it wasn't very difficult to either drive or park. Very well taken care of. The other fabulous photo place was the swings there but unfortunately they had a lot of snow on them. The place is worth visiting in both summer and winter.
Neha S — Google review
The Ottawa Sign in downtown Ottawa is one of those must-stop spots if you’re near ByWard Market. In the daytime it’s nice for a quick photo, but at night it’s on another level — the colorful lights make it look amazing and give the whole area a lively, festive feel. There are plenty of restaurants and cafés just steps away, so it’s easy to make an evening of it. Parking in the immediate area can be a challenge, but there are paid lots nearby, and public transit drops you close enough to walk. It’s free, quick to visit, and perfect for capturing that “I was here” moment — especially after sunset.

Great place to visit in Ottawa for photo memory. Being a local, we park the car out & take walk along the beautiful streets of Byward. Shopping local & catching up with favourite restaurants. Evenings are a good vibe to hangout.

Pros: An interesting place to visit. Cons: 1. Facing north east, and buildings nearby makes the sign in the shadow in the morning. 2. Hard to find a parking lot nearby. 3. It'll be super crowded in the later of a day.
李梁 — Google review
Honestly, it’s just a sign, nothing more. It makes for a quick photo, but don’t expect anything special. The experience was made worse by the crowds; people didn’t know how to line up or wait their turn, which made the whole thing frustrating and chaotic. Not really worth going out of your way for.

I love coming here in the winter with my children to skate on the outdoor rink and toboggan on the hill next to TD Place. This park space is great, as you can skate most of the winter thanks to the refrigerated rink, and play basketball in the warmer months when the rink is converted into a basketball court. As for the hill and field, what is a perfect spot for tobogganing in the winter becomes an ideal area for everything from hosting music festivals to offering great green space to play in.

I had my wedding here and because I loved the exposed brick and industrial look. However, future bride and grooms be careful with this location. Parking for me was a pain. The game schedule is not released until the year-of (February) and so planning is difficult. Sadly, for myself a game fell on the same day as my wedding and so parking is a priority for the game attendees. Also having a shuttle is only during non-peak times. It was such a headache for my guests. Other than that headache and the fact that you have to be prepared to spend a lot of money on rentals (not much is included, like tables, nice chairs, eating utensils, etc.), it was a gorgeous and unique venue. If parking was not an issue and if the venue offered more, it would be perfect. Also if you want to serve dinner at your event, the venue doesn't have a kitchen so you may have to speak to your caterer to rent ovens!

As one of Ottawa's most beloved free attractions, it draws crowds eager to witness the stunning visuals paired with captivating narratives.

After 39 years working and overseeing contract work. I decided to hang up my tool belt and contract out our front door install to West end windows and doors. This company was one of three quotes I had received. Pricing, product quality and warranty beat out the others. The door was installed before expected and the overall workmanship provided by our 2 installers, Jason and Alec was among the best I’ve ever seen. These guys really care about detail. Brick mound, caulking, inside trim are all flawless. Working with this company from beginning to end was quick efficient, and just a nice bunch of people to work with. Thanks guys. Had a fantastic experience with Westend Windows and Doors. I was looking to make improvements to our house through thr Greener Homes Loan, and had Evgueni come and quote some Windows and Doors. He did a few variations based on our changing scope and was always quick, helpful and pleasant (even after the 4th time lol). We ordered mid February and installed beginning of June. Custom front door, custom patio door, large 10x6' window, and some basement casement Windows. The crew showed up on schedule and worked through to finish the whole job in a day. They even added new trim inside as well. We were impressed. The pricing was super competitive and I would happily recommend. No incentive for this review, I was just impressed.

I replaced a single casement window. They were 20% below the nearest other quote. The window was ready early (about 5 weeks, maybe because it was a small job). The installation was quick without any messing around or surprises and they left the space cleaner that they found it, inside and out. The whole process and end result was flawless.

The Rideau Canal Skateway in Ottawa is a must-visit attraction and holds the title of the world's largest skating rink according to the Guinness Book Of World Records. This frozen canal offers 7.8 kilometers (4.8 miles) of maintained ice for skating from downtown Ottawa to Carleton University via Dows Lake, equivalent to over 90 Olympic-sized hockey rinks.
One of the best things to do in Ottawa - an absolute must-visit in the winter! Stretching over 7.8 kilometers, it’s the world’s largest skating rink and offers a truly magical experience. The scenic views of downtown Ottawa paired with the lively atmosphere make it a fantastic family outing. The ice is well-maintained, and there are plenty of cozy rest areas to warm up with hot chocolate and BeaverTails. Whether you're a seasoned skater or a newbie, the Skateway is a fun time. It’s a perfect blend of outdoor adventure and Canadian culture!

The full 7.8 km was opened this winter in 2025 for skating. Many amenities like heated rooms to rest, toilets and food available.
Rich T — Google review
Went skating there on the long weekend. It was cold but dressed for it. They have a heated building there to put your skates on, that was a big plus in minus 20 weather. It was snowing hard so the plows couldn't keep up with the snow but was still able to skate past the first bridge. It was only busy at the initial 1km but after that it was very quiet, not many people at all. The downside was that the food huts closed early, so when we got back they were closed. Oh well maybe next time.

Came here just last week, always love coming here every year to skate up each way and back. Started about halfway through and always tradition to get a beaver tail once we’re done!

Capital Skates ruined the Rideau Canal for me. I payed 33 CAD +tax and a 50$ deposit (that I’m still waiting for) for a pair of rusted and unsharpened skates. When I asked for a different pair of skates or to at least have them sharpened, the person serving me flat out refused and told me it was the only pair available in my size. I insisted on having the skates sharpened and was met with eye rolls and the service window being slammed in my face. I can deal with rude customer service, but I can’t deal with a company’s total disregard for safety. Besides the totally dull blades, I couldn’t tie my own skates because of the amount of rust on the laces and loose pieces of metal. Hello tetanus!

I came to Ottawa to attend the Manning Conference. It had been 40 years since I had been to Ottawa in the winter, but in those days the sidewalks were rolled up by 6 PM and the downtown was less than alive. The cold and the snow likely didn't help. The By Market was more a shanty town than the marvelous place it is today, and the things to do in the winter were limited. But that was then, today it is different. Winterlude is bright spot in the Ottawa winter. Many activities, lights, snow sculptures, music, great for the visitor, the family, and for Ottawa. There was a buzz in the air, (and not the annoying sound of politicians talking) and had moments where if I closed my eyes I could have easily been at Carnival in Quebec City. People are friendlier when there is a party going on in the city. They smile more, laugh more, and believe it or not sing more.(especially when there is music, live or otherwise playing). The parks in the area surrounding the area were filled with people and activities both day and night. The hotel lobby was filled with people - families - carrying skates.Car lots were full and parking on the street was impossible. But still the families flocked! The Beaver Tails, the hot chocolate, the fries, the skating on the canal, and the all- inclusive feeling makes this a great event for singles, couples and families alike across all age ranges.

When we visited in 2021, skating on the Rideau Canal was closed for that year and we were not able to skate, but we were able to see a wonderful winter Ottawa tradition. It was cold and freezing, but I recommend taking a walk with a warm cup of hot chocolate or coffee in your hand.

Mooney's Bay Park and Beach is a popular riverfront destination located on the east shore of the Rideau River. It offers a sandy beach for swimming and sandcastle building, playgrounds for kids, and even a sled hill for winter fun. The park hosts various family events and festivals throughout the summer, making it an ideal spot for picnics, barbecues, or simply soaking up the sun.
This is a fantastic park and beach. There is something here for everyone. There are multiple large play structures for all ages. The beach is large, with lots of space for everyone and good water access so it doesn't feel crowded. Green space is plentiful and there are many trees for shade, even in the beach area. You can purchase snacks, ice cream, and such at a concession stand, though you'll pay a fair bit as you would expect at such a location. There are a few tables available to sit at and also plenty of green space with trees for shade nearby as well. Also note, you can fill up your water bottle here at a water fountain. Public bathrooms are available with changing facilities for the beach as well. The only issue is that there is very limited parking, which is paid, so unless you get there early in the day, you will have difficulty finding parking. Other than that, it's a fantastic place to spend an entire day with the family and friends.
Jeff E — Google review
This park is a great way to spend a sunny day solo or with family and friends. There is a beach, park benches, picnic tables, trails, and playground structures. Parking is not too far and plentiful during the week. It can get busy even during the week so weekends are super crowded. The bathroom situation was limited but better than nothing.
S F — Google review
You have to prepare to go there. Washrooms ate open but not sure till what time. Evenings attract a different crowd as well. Not my favorite city beach tbh.. Best thing about it is the connecting bike paths along the river. Fantastic. The pedestrian Bridge near Carleton U should be finished by now.

Great outdoor park and beach for those looking for outdoor activities with family and friends. A little messy, and my advice to everyone to please pick after yourself. If you're not going to respect and clean the surrounding, then how else you're going to love yourself. Great swings and mini playground for kids. The sand at the beach was clean. It's a fun and lively area to spend weekends.
Asif A — Google review
Very clean and spacious playground. Always lots of kids. Fresh and clean air. Located far from roads. Great place for all seasons. The only thing that makes me unhappy that there is no washrooms since October. There are still lots of people coming with kids, for picnics and to exercise. I am wondering how do they keep everything inside, or maybe there is someplace that I do not know. Especially, like it shows on the pictures, families with many kids and they sit there for more than 2 hours.

I imagine it's a nightmare in summer, but relatively quiet at the tail end of winter and a large area. Great for taking photos of gulls and ducks. There's a large beach area with washrooms and a large grass area with playground. Not a fan of how the parking lot is blocked in winter (guessing because they don't make money on it) and the washrooms are closed. Nightmare for someone on diuretics! Also for the disabled, in winter so difficult to get down to the beach with the lot being blocked off. Managed, but definitely dicey, even though the snow is melted the grass is steep and even the roads are pretty steep. Lovely view though and a really cute driftwood/cattail area all the way to the right!

Kids love this park! Lots of different structures to play on. Lots of space for a picnic and lovely view of the water. There is steep hill the kids like to run up and down on. Beach looks clean but we haven't swam here yet. Ample parking. Overall, it makes for a fun family day and I would highly recommend bringing your kids!
Jacquelynn A — Google review
It was our first time back in a long time. We took the kids for a family fun beach day. We didn't know the rules so I thought I'd share. The experience starts with paid parking it accepts change, credit card or by phone. (See picture) We settled in and sent the kids in to swim. We were quickly informed that kids who are 7 and under must be accompanied by an adult in the water. Since we didn't know that we needed change for parking and the canteen was closed (they open at 5). I went to ask one of the lifeguard supervisors if he knew where I could get change. Lucky for me he was very kind and helpful. The one thing I found confusing was the bathroom set up the womans bathroom is on the opposite side of the canteen from the men's. The signs are very confusing. We also visited the park before leaving. It is wood chips instead of sand. They have some very unique play structures. About 45 minutes was enough there for our 7-11 year Olds.

Historical landmark
The Rideau Canal National Historic Site is a captivating 202-kilometre waterway that links the Ottawa River to Lake Ontario, making it one of the most cherished attractions in Canada’s capital. This UNESCO World Heritage Site offers a variety of activities year-round, from leisurely summer strolls and bike rides along its scenic trails to witnessing the impressive lock system operated by Parks Canada. In winter, it transforms into the world’s largest ice-skating rink, stretching an incredible 7.
This is an excellent spot for ice skating when it is open. It took me about 45 minutes each way to skate the 7.8 km trail from one end to the other. Bring your own skates or buy a used pair because the skate rentals cost $33. I went at a perfect time: -3 degree temperatures during the afternoon after a cold night. The ice surface can be choppy at times and snow might cover some parts, but the experience is incredible, in the backdrop of other Winterlude activities in Ottawa.

Looking for a place to run when you are visiting the Capital. Don’t look further! The Rideau Canal is definitely my best spot for long run when I visit Ottawa. Lovely place for running 😊
John L — Google review
The Rideau Canal is one of North America’s most cherished treasures! It’s the best-preserved “slack water” canal from the 19th-century canal-building era, and it still operates along its original route with most of its charming structures intact. Recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, it offers a wonderful opportunity to explore an iconic route. You’ll find informative boards that share the fascinating story of how and why the canal was built. This area is perfect for a leisurely stroll along the historic locks, with beautiful parklands surrounding you for enjoyable picnics and sightseeing—all without any entrance fee! Plus, there are washroom facilities available for your convenience. Come and discover the beauty of the Rideau Canal!
Bernie — Google review
It has to get extremely cold for the canal to freeze over, and finally this year it did. The canal team provide lots of facilities for you to be able to put your skates on in the warmth. Don’t forget to grab a beaver tail and a hot chocolate while you are there. Ice conditions vary so check their site before you go, it is updated regularly.

be aware that in the summer, this is just a spot along the canal with no specific landmarks. Go to the locks if you want to see the water features

It was a great experience to see the canal lock system. Nice little walk. Beautiful sunny day. You can try cycling too. One of the best tourist attractions in Ottawa. End of the journey to River. I went during early spring. Pretty sure more happening after May. Surrounded by Parliament Hill and old structural buildings.

Kìwekì Point, formerly known as Nepean Lookout Point, is a breathtaking lookout situated on a cliff that offers visitors an unforgettable experience. Nestled behind the National Gallery of Canada in downtown Ottawa, this scenic spot provides stunning panoramic views of Parliament Hill, the Ottawa River, and the Canadian Museum of History. Whether you're capturing sunset vistas or enjoying the vibrant cityscape filled with historic architecture, Kìwekì Point is a photographer's paradise.
Amazing view. I visit here frequently. It's a bit chilly up here so always carry a jacket. You get a good view of Alexander bridge, Parliament hill, and skyline of Gatineau park. It's feels calm and serene up here. A must visit place of you are in Ottawa.

Beautiful place, beautiful atmosphere, a very nice place for a walk with mates or family. The bridge, the Parliament and the view point all are in a walkable distance and they are also few museums around.! You can spend some quality time with others. Worth visiting.
Manoj G — Google review
On a prominent hill behind the National Gallery of Canada is Nepean Point. Here you will find spectacular views of the Ottawa River, the Parliament buildings, major hills park and of Gatineau's waterfront. One of the most popular attractions is the statue of Samuel de Champlain explorer, cartographer, diplomat, and known to be the Father of New France, including; founder of Quebec City, part of the Great Lakes and Saint John New Bruinswick to mention just a few locations. but due to construction, (or maybe Champlain didnt want to catch covid, lol) Champlain's statue has been removed. I believe the construction is part of a renovation to the point to make it more wheelchair accessible. Despite the construction I still recommend you coming to Nepean Point for the slightly obstructed view and to look at; the 100 ft long stainless steel art work of a tree without branches by artist Roxie Paine. I find it is necessary to view this odd looking statue's long length up close to appreciate it more than just seeing it as a long metal thing out of the ground from a distance. There are also some large granite rocks that have had arabesques decorative engraving sandblasted into its stone. This land art was created by Bill Varzan and it reminds me of indigenous people's earth story petroglyphs found all over the world. Nepean Point is very close to Majors Hill Park, so why not check it out. If you like my review, please give it a thumbs up. Thanks.

A totem pole, a couple of monuments honoring Canadian fighters, namely aboriginal- and Polish-Canadians, a beautiful water fountain and a few temporary art installations round up the things to see and enjoy in this smallish but memorable public park.

One of the tourist parks in the heart of Ottawa. As the name suggests it it is dedicated to the creation of the Canadian confederacy. This Ottawa park is a nice spot for a relaxing day with family. It’s quiet, family-friendly, and perfect for a picnic by the waterfront. The small beach area is a nice addition, and the volleyball courts are great for a game with friends. It also has free parking. The only downside is that the water at the beach seems a bit on the dirty side. Despite this, the park itself is enjoyable and provides a nice setting for a fun day outdoors.

Lovely, big park and beach located in Britannia. There are quite a number of amenities in the beach park here; 2 big baseball fields, basketball court, wadding pool, children playground, a beach, a walking trail, expansive places to walk around and sit, the park is pet friendly as there are dedicated part of the park where you can play around with your dogs. The beach is also cute and lovely, ideal place to have fun with family and friend, play beach volleyball and go swimming during the summer. Lovey park and beach. I recommend for a visit.

Great beach with 2 play structures. Plenty of clean public toilets. Swimming area in river. Lifeguards work at certain months from 11am to 7pm. There is also a place to get food. Lots of picnic tables around too. Perfect place to spend a day.

A great fun place for family and friends. The scenic beauty when you walk or just enjoy the sand and water is just exotic. Water is not so deep, so kids who don't know swimming can still enjoy comfortably. A huge area with benches at various spots gives option for picnics. Restrooms are clean and well maintained too.

I go multiple times a year to let my son play in the beautiful swamp :) very well maintained. so much nature. Good, quick and very pleasant nature park. The activities are fun for the kids as well. Good area to play volleyball and have fun with the frisbee. Nice conservation area...very scenic and peaceful. Parking isn't pricey and beach area are descent. The facilities are mess, but everyone needs to use common sense when keeping washrooms clean. Good times and memories. My favorite place to visit in Orleans. It is our small hidden gem! Many sandy beaches and lovely trails. Natural reserve with a variety of animal species. Turtle pond is a great quiet spot for water turtle sighting. Many things to do including hiking, kayaking, paddle boarding, swimming and what I love the most is reading in a quiet spot and watching sunsets. Sunsets are amazing and special there where you can also walk the beach barefoot and listen to the sound of the waves. Parking is 2$/day until 6 pm. Many parking spots, picnic tables, benches and a small play structure. washrooms available during summer.

This was a really nice surprise today when looking for somewhere I could rest for a bit while waiting to pick up someone at Ottawa University. There's shade, trails, benches and a pedestrian bridge over the Rideau River. I wasn't there long, but it's a really pretty nature spot. I believe it's connected to other trails as well. Pics are from the bridge. I'm unclear on whether parking is free or not. There was a 2 hour parking sign but also a notice about pass holders.

This is a lovely park where one can play baseball, stroll next to the Rideau River, or see a play. (During a visit in August, I saw a very enjoyable production of The Miser, an outdoor show by Odyssey Theatre as part of their Theatre Under the Stars summer series). On a subsequent visit during the day, I took the time to observe Strathcona's Folly, a great sculpture that looks like ancient ruins (see photos below). This piece, which uses real pieces from Ottawa's architectural history, is aimed at letting the public reflect on the passage of time and cycle of life.

I visited during the day but felt sunset must be amazing to watch. free parking available but gets filled pretty qucik. uottawa I just 1km away. ppl can even balance stones when the water in canal is low(which is now). you can also bring lunch or grab a bite with friends in here. must visit.
Kazumi M — Google review
The grounds are beautiful, I love the ruins and the mature trees and water views. The reason it’s 3 stars is from a family with young kids perspective. The play structure for kids is really small, the slide is steep and fully metal and isn’t as safe as it could be.The wading pool isn’t in use, and the washroom building is old, locked and clearly not maintained. Considering it’s one of the only large city parks in this area, it should have a washroom and updated play structure for families with young kids. It’s a great spot for a photoshoot and for adults but not the best one for families with young kids. There is plenty of space for picnics, you can bring your own stuff and set up. The kids mostly played by the ruins, but we had to leave the park 3 times to use the restrooms and drive to a cafe - and didn’t find parking when we came back every time, so would have to wait. Something to be aware of.

This looks like it used to be a nice park in the middle of downtown Ottawa. During the summer it's a nice place to visit depending on the events going on in the park, which range from benign/unobtrusive to overwhelming and impossible to ignore. The children enjoyed the swings, though many of the areas are teeming with geese excrement and that of other creatures.

The National Holocaust Monument in Ottawa is a striking and thought-provoking landmark with a unique design. Its six triangular segments form a star from above, symbolizing the yellow star used to identify Jewish individuals during the Holocaust. Visitors describe feeling deeply affected by the monument's open yet claustrophobic space, which evokes a sense of hopelessness and serves as a haunting reminder of the tragic events of World War II.
The National Holocaust Monument in Ottawa is a deeply moving and solemn site that commemorates the victims and survivors of the Holocaust. The monument's striking design and powerful imagery create a space for reflection and remembrance. It is located next to the Canadian War Museum, making it easily accessible for visitors interested in exploring both historical sites. The combination of these two significant monuments provides a profound and educational experience.
Valeriia O — Google review
The National Holocaust Monument in Ottawa, located at the intersection of Wellington and Booth Streets, stands as a powerful tribute to the six million Jewish victims of the Holocaust and a reminder of the resilience of survivors. Situated across from the Canadian War Museum, it is a striking and thought-provoking space that compels reflection. Designed by architect Daniel Libeskind and unveiled in 2017, the monument is composed of six massive concrete triangles that, when viewed from above, form the shape of a fractured Star of David. This design is deeply symbolic, representing both the imposed identification of Jews during the Holocaust and the fragmentation of lives torn apart by genocide. Inside the monument, large-scale murals depict present-day images of Holocaust sites, grounding the past in the present and reinforcing the weight of history. The space is stark, with towering walls that create an atmosphere of isolation and contemplation. The intention is clear—it is not meant to be a place of comfort, but one that forces visitors to confront the gravity of what happened. Established through the National Holocaust Monument Act, the site ensures that the memory of the Holocaust remains an enduring part of Canada’s national landscape. The experience of walking through it is both sobering and necessary. It serves as a stark reminder of the dangers of hatred and the importance of vigilance in protecting human rights.
Brandan J — Google review
I brought my child to see this after our visit to the War museum in April 2024. It allowed me to explain what had happened during the Holocaust and why it must be remembered such that never again is more than just words.
Kirk H — Google review
Very serene atmosphere. Quiet and calm well inside the monument. The design and layout kind of give you a trapped helpless feeling. The monument is well layed out and a very touching tribute to the countless lives that were torn apart. Definitely makes you think and reflect, well at least it did for me.
Troy M — Google review
We were very affected walking around inside this monument. It's wide open, but the high, angular walls and drabness of it all can make one feel claustrophobic, trapped, hopeless. Faint pictures on some walls have plaques to describe various aspects of the Holocaust, but mostly, in our experience, it was the feeling of being there. Absolutely haunting, and stays with you even after you walk up the steps to the "freedom" of the outside world again. It's a bit like being in a fun house, but without the fun. Or the house.
Sue L — Google review

Brewer Park was a great spot for our event. Despite the busy atmosphere, the park handled the crowd well. The restrooms were surprisingly clean considering the number of people. It was reassuring to see police on site throughout the day. There was one minor issue with someone from a nearby construction company being a bit disruptive, but overall, it didn't overshadow the positive experience.

Absolutely beautiful place to go for a hike, even with a lot of snow.

Nice little trail with some great, more technical loops you can explore. The main trail is wheelchair accessible. 👍

We saw a 🦫 beaver there yesterday. While driving closer to the area , we saw wild turkeys and 2 deer 🦌 beautiful place. Parking is 7$ for 4 hours. Washroom is available.

Nature's heaven!!! Breathtaking views, serene atmosphere and diverse wildlife. Perfect spot for hiking or simply unwinding in nature.

Great place to go for a hike. If you loop all the trails together you can get close to 7km of hiking in. It's usually pretty quiet and not overcrowded. Lots of people bring their dogs to walk here, which is awesome. There are multiple good views and quiet areas to sit and relax.

Wonderful place for walking, swimming or paddling. Super close to gorgeous islands on Quèbec side. Huge carpark is seldom full, but be careful with boat entry
Trevor W — Google review
Great place to go for a hike. Nice trails that are easy to moderate. Nice views of the Ottawa River and lots of nature, like, geese, ducks, other birds, plus the occasional River Otter or turtle. Parking is now $6 but that does help maintain the facilities. There is a washroom near the parking lot and a couple of outhouses along the main causeway trial.

What a gorgeous place to spend some summer days with a family and friends. Great trails, that lead you to a river where you can take a break and enjoy a beautiful scenery. Dogs are allowed. I saw some people bringing their paddle boats. We tried to fish with no success. Park has picnic tables near parking lot, where we had a lively lunch with a beautiful view. I can’t wait to go back in fall to see it all in different colors.

Park
Maplelawn Garden is a popular and historic park in Ottawa, located within a residential and commercial neighborhood. It features expansive gardens and grounds, which are greatly appreciated for their unique heritage contribution, preservation qualities, and character-defining architecture.
Great little gem within the city! So many variety of flowers. It's a beautiful peacefull place. One of my favorite locations for taking pictures of flowers, bees and butterflies. Sometimes a bunny if your lucky. It is a well taken care of garden! A plus is the very photogenic Keg manor which is located next to the garden. There is on-site parking behind the garden shared with the Keg.
Keri G — Google review
Wonderful place for a dinner at the historical building with The Keg and a walk though the beautiful gardens. Wall is fenced off as of summer 2023 but garden entrance on west end is open.
Jasmine D — Google review
Should be 5 Stars! BUT!!! They have taken away the walkable/playable/picnicable green spaces that you see in the second photo. Now it's... Overgrown... 'Squeezed in' ... Lots of flowers for sure... But it's lost its 'secret hideaway' feel and is now a very colourful and vast row of bushes. Call the crew in and Change it Back!
MJ T — Google review
Beautiful gardens. Kept up by volunteers. Nice private place for a picnic or a coffee on a bench.
Alison M — Google review
We love this garden despite the construction all around it, however missed the open green spaces between the beds that were here till last year? Not sure why that changed.
Devaleena S — Google review
Wow the flowers were lovely! Hard to believe it is free to visit.
Nadine R — Google review
Such a beautiful place. God bless the volunteers who maintain it!
Yolanda B — Google review
Wonderful Victorian walled garden expertly maintained by volunteers. A piece of serenity amidst the city's hustle & bustle.😇
