Irish pub
Heart & Crown - ByWard Market is a lively Irish pub in Ottawa's vibrant ByWard Market, founded by two Irish immigrants. The classic pub offers a variety of beers and live entertainment, creating a jovial atmosphere that will surely captivate visitors. With its charming wooden doors and lively music, the pub promises an adventure filled with Guinness-fueled merry-making.
I was looking for some cute date spots for me and my boyfriend in byward and stumbled on Heart and Crown. I liked the cozy feel to such a big establishment! We were greeted by a lovely host and were sat down by the patio as it was a warm night. Everything was going amazing and the appetizers were delicious (spinach dip was to die for!) Things took a turn when a group of rugby players walked in and became super loud and obnoxious after a couple pints. The patio date night dinner turned into a scream fest between me and my partner because I could hardly hear him. Until a hostess recognized our distress as she came around and offered to move us to a different patio! We immediately took that offer and thanked Erica for saving our date night! The food was a bit expensive but still extremely tasty and my boyfriend and I felt extremely supported by the staff at Heart and Crown! Would recommend!!

Stopped here for an early dinner on a Wednesday night before a show at the NAC. They give a nod to Irish food, but this is definitely not the place to go if you're looking for lots of options that are more traditionally. Irish. The service was decent, and our weight are very friendly. Appetizer took a long time to come out but was tasty. I ordered the shepherd's pie which was a nice moderate portion. My husband got the braised short rib which was extremely tasty.
Coreen B — Google review
Nice typical pub with a massive presence in term is atmosphere. We sat on the back terrace, and the walls, decor and colour choices were exactly right for the expected experience. Food is typical pub grub, and I enjoyed my fish & chips, even if I'm not sure that it's home made - I could be wrong. The menu is diversified enough to covers most tastes. We went after visiting the National Gallery in mid-afternoon, and it was neither very busy nor loud, but I can see how it gets more animated in the later hours. I would definitely return.
Tomasz J — Google review
Lovely pub in the heart of center town with good food! I came here for lunch and had really good, fresh beer, beef brisket tacos (was indeed very delicious) and shepherd pie. I love the pub’s vibe, it was very nicely decorated despite being a bit small and wasn’t loud at all even though we came on a Sunday noon. It is definitely a cute spot for a date or family visit because the price was also pretty decent.

It’s been awhile since I was in this place. Got outside seating in the court yard. Friday evening and not too busy yet. Attentive and responsive staff. Good ambience in the courtyard away from street level noise and reasonable conversations are possible. Good pub menu and tried the fish and chips and the in house pudding. A very good choice. A recommendation in the market.

My wife and I stopped in for lunch and this place was excellent. Simone seated us immediately and gave us menus. Kyle came by and asked if we had any questions and took our drink order. He gave us a recommendation and took our order. He was very accommodating. They food was superb, the service excellent and the atmosphere was great. We highly recommend this place.
Dick B — Google review
Sam the new bartender, was great! We found a the live music to be fun, though a little loud for our taste on Monday evening. We sat on the patio, and that was cool. Would recommend,
Vasilios M — Google review
I loved this place 15 years ago when I lived here and it's only gotten better. The food is fracking excellent. Get the Irish fried bag - it is pure excellence. You can always count on a solid Black Velvet. The service is perfect. And the entertainment!! The singer songwriter covers guy yesterday (August 13) was PHENOMENAL. Period. This guy belongs in a stadium. Good ambiance, good times, good location. Excellent patio. Don't bother choosing somewhere else. Go here.

Karaoke bar
Night club
The Lookout Bar is a vibrant LGBTQ+ venue located in Ottawa's ByWard Market, boasting over 25 years of lively nightlife. This celebrated bar offers regular drag shows and karaoke nights, creating an inviting and entertaining atmosphere for all patrons. The outdoor patio hosts free drag performances from Tuesday to Saturday, while the rooftop provides stunning city views for a more laid-back yet elegant setting.
Every time I go there, there is always something new and exciting! Drag show, karaoke, and the drinks are all top notch! Very LGBTQ+ friendly, and zero judgement! Highly recommend you come here for a taste of what they have to offer! Staff are extraordinarily nice and if you make a good impression they will remember your orders!

Lookout Bar – Inclusive Vibes & Stellar Performances I’ve been to Lookout Bar twice now—once during Pride and again more recently. While the physical setup of the bar could use a refresh, it somehow adds to the charm and laid-back energy. The space is proudly inclusive, with a welcoming vibe that makes everyone feel at home. Drinks are solid (though I wish the cocktails packed a bit more punch), and the music and performances are consistently fantastic. The ByWard Market location is super convenient, especially if you’re hopping between spots. Great place to celebrate, dance, and feel part of the community.
Sandrine N — Google review
I have visited close to a dozen dance bars in the National Capital region since I started visiting dance bars two years ago and Lookout ranks as number 1 and qualifies as the best dance bar in my list for the following reasons. Lookout is a popular, dynamic and inclusive dance bar and welcomes a diverse crowd regardless of orientation, race or age though it is known as LGBTQ bar. Located in the heart of the downtown is the bar where I go almost every Saturday night to relax and dance. Dance floor is open to patrons in the late night, and this bar is almost always busy on Saturday nights. The cover charge is $15 on Saturdays, and $12 on Fridays which is less than competitors. Drink prices are same as competitors. Unlike most neighboring bars which are closed most weekdays, Lookout is open every day and night except Monday. Staff are very friendly, hardworking and possess excellent customer-relations skills. Sue the co-owner but unfortunately is on duty less often these days. Meghan who is beautiful inside out and she is loved by everyone with her angelic personality and has been the night manager for the past 2 years and is the soul of Lookout. Award-winning DJ Roxy voted Ottawa's best DJ multiple times is great at keeping the dance floor packed. Roxy who is the cutest D.J. I have ever seen anywhere, and she is the life of Lookout with the best songs she is choosing every night she gives life to the party. When she is on duty, it is a guaranteed good night. Mike the other D.J. is equally good. He played great songs during the Halloween party last night. And of course, Mat the security who is welcoming at the door. The security guard Mat is welcoming at the door with smiles most of the time. Please support the only viable LGBTQ bar in the NCR as much as you can. Even though I am 100% straight I come to this LGBTQ bar every Saturday night to celebrate diversity and of course dance with and hug and kiss all those beautiful girls who choose to come over and dance with me. Though I am frequently complimented on my outfit, but it is my rave green laser glasses which gets most attention, and I share them with the ladies to galvanize the party-like environment in the club and help them enjoy the party more. As a strong feminist myself I respect ladies' choices and therefore I only dance if the ladies make the first move and come over to me for dance as I have to be sure I am their choice and luckily for me there are plenty some Saturday nights especially in neighboring dance bars where I visit during the two half-hour dance breaks in this bar. Some patrons asked me if I work in this bar and on a few occasions, I was given $5 bills which I refused politely or on one occasion asked to sign autographs on two female's arms! Last May it was Meghan's birthday party and on the top of being a chief bartender and a night manager, Meghan is also a performer herself, and she was performing in front of loudly cheering crowd on her birthday as they gathered early to participate in Lookout's birthday celebration party. The first three photos are photos of this beauty while performing on her birthday. She hosts Karaoke every Sundays and Tuesdays while she is a night manager other nights of the week. More recently, last night there was a Halloween party at Lookout. By looking at the pictures you will see why I nominated this bar as number 1 and most dynamic bar and friendliest in Ottawa if not the whole country.
Keyvan S — Google review
It was an amazing night with amazing drag queens that night. They could work a little bit more with the stage where they perform so people from the back could see them but overall amazing! Cant wait to comeback next month ❤️❤️
FashionBy K — Google review
Went here for a really fun drag show on Saturday night, the performers were beyond hilarious and it was a fun opportunity to wear the Filipino pride shirt my friends got me for my birthday this year.
Arin G — Google review
The premiere drag entertainment bar in Ottawa. This venue is perfect for shows over the other venues in the city.
Natasha I — Google review
Nice place to see a drag show. I liked the light fixtures and because it’s on a second floor the air flow was good too.
Yonah S — Google review
I gave extra stars to support the local community business. Realizing it's a very restrictive space there's not much you can do for changing but the staff could be a lot more friendlier or at least serve you with a smile. It's a frown or even looks of frustration when you order a simple beer. A small smile would go a long way

Babylon is a vibrant nightclub located in Ottawa's ByWard Market, known for hosting an array of live music events featuring both local and international bands across various genres. The multi-level design offers different atmospheres, with the upper level providing a laid-back lounge setting and the main floor pulsating with energetic live performances. Situated near the University of Ottawa campus, it is popular among students and young professionals, offering themed parties, DJ nights, and diverse musical experiences.
I was really impressed at the size and sound of this club! A lot of photos don't do it justice, definitely a fun place for a night out.
Piergiorgio G — Google review
So fun the first time. I went again and have to say sometimes it's sometimes hit or miss. I find there was some false advertising in their ad. Saying there's going to be a certain type of night but don't play much of that music. Still fun to be had but loses stars for inconsistencies.
Brian T — Google review
Not the most *upscale* club but the level of energy here was unmatched. The people were beautiful. The bartenders really took care of us and had such enlightening, Salt-of-The-Earth-Like spirits. I would’ve fell in love with the girl working the bar if hubby hadn’t been around! 🤣 I’ve made friends for life in such a short night. I hope everyone is doing O.K. amidst the pandemic and hopefully wishing to see familiar faces upon my return.
Arzelie M — Google review
Great live shows, cool venue but I had to ask three times to get my change at the bar and the bartender seemed pissed off about it. Also, MANDATORY coat check? $3.50 seems overpriced for someone to put my coat on a hanger... I did really enjoy the fact that the staff seemed really on top of everyone there though- after being offered a drink by a stranger, one of the bouncers approached me just to make sure that the stranger didn't say anything inappropriate or make me uncomfortable. I REALLY appreciated that.
Claire K — Google review
Awesome place to go to dance, or watch some small live bands/music. The owner is also a great guy. They could do better with replying to their emails/voicemails however, as I lost my bag there and they never replied.
Madeleine L — Google review
been coming here for many years now. babylon = fun. bouncers are respectful and friendly. just don't be a jackass, this is not a place for that. when it's busy, you may have to wait for your drink for 10-15 min. it's what happens everywhere. deal with that. or get more drinks on your order so you don't have to wait :)
Aleksandar L — Google review
The DJ was incredibly rude to my friend during her bachelorette party. We had given her challenges to do over the evening and one was to request the DJ play a song. The DJ refused, even though the request came early in the evening when the club was practically empty. Seems like rudely refusing to play one song, for a bachelorette party, is a pretty good way to send a group of women intent on spending a great deal of money straight to another, more friendly, establishment. Shout out to the bouncers though, they were super lovely.
Robyn L — Google review
One of my favourite club locations. Always a good crowd. The staff are super busy but work hard. I love the couches in the front corner for when you just want to chill out.

The Manx Pub is a beloved subterranean watering hole located on Elgin Street in Ottawa. It has been a favorite spot for over two decades, attracting musicians, public servants, and locals alike. The pub offers a cozy atmosphere with friendly staff and a globally inspired pub-grub menu. With two dozen taps dominated by Ontario craft beers and occasional live music events, it's the perfect place to unwind and enjoy comfort food and beverages.
I dream about their vegan tofu curry brunch option- it’s so good (especially the button mushrooms in the scramble)! Huge portion, lots of variety, and it’s consistently fresh and tasty. I love getting their local jam for the toast too.
Tierney K — Google review
The Manx is typically where my partner and I go for late night eats. This week we decided to go for lunch…. But we were surprisingly disappointed. The salad and fries were great as always but the sandwich itself was absolutely flavourless. Bland, dull, and tasteless. A huge surprise, because we normally can’t rave about this spot enough. Anyway hope it was just a coincidence, as we will be back regardless.
Davina — Google review
The service was so kind and the food was amazing. We had the Quesedillas and the vegetarian Wrap and both were so good! We definitely recommend The Manx Pub and would go there again!
Sam K — Google review
Hidden Gem on Elgin!! Fast, polite, professional service. Tasty food with generous portions. Cozy ambiance, with a nice little patio. Tried the following: - black bean dip — a bit spicy, but tasty - lamb curry wrap — delicious! The fries that came with the wrap were very tasty too. Waiter recommended the “Manx” beer and it was an easy beer to drink. Enjoyed it very much. No dessert on the menu, maybe you have to ask for it, but I’m not sure. Overall I loved this place and would highly recommend!
Rawad E — Google review
Great pub with interesting beer choices and decent but small menu. The service is always excellent. It's down a half flight of stairs to enter the pub, so not ideal for accessibility. Lots of street parking, for which you have to pay. Walkable from many downtown offices and locations.
D D — Google review
Was recommended to come here and so glad we did!! Lovely, cozy, friendly establishment and food was absolutely delicious!! One of the best pub meals we have ever had and a very decent price too!! Our new friend Stephen there was so warm, friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble, all in all a wonderful visit and highly recommend to visit, we didn't want to leave but look forward to visiting again on next trip to Ottawa!!😀
Lili B — Google review
We ate at small tables, having to move things around and remove some things so all our plates could actually fit on the table. It was noisy. And to top it off the food was not great. Their hollandaise was flavourless, their bacon was stiff and cold, and there was so much bread it was all I tasted with their eggs Benedict. It was a neat location but I would not go there again.

If you're looking for a vibrant nightlife experience in Ottawa, the House of TARG is an absolute must-visit. Nestled in the lively ByWard Market, this multi-room nightclub offers an electrifying atmosphere filled with pulsating electronic music that will keep you dancing until dawn. With state-of-the-art lighting and sound systems, every night feels like a sensory adventure as renowned DJs spin everything from techno to drum and bass.
Great spot! We attended for a free play family time and had a blast. Very nostalgic. Targ beer was great. I'll have to come back for live music at night
Colin S — Google review
Love the place , need a little taking care of the arcades when stupid people don't respect the machines . I have seen people hiting the pinball or arcade so they can break them . Besides that staff is beautiful and amazing 👏 . Love the idea that they make targ beer and it's so less expensive than budweiser. Way to go targ ;) Been a active player since 8 years now .
Alain P — Google review
I had heard good things about the house of TARG, how it's a staple in Ottawa and such, but was honestly disappointed. The place feels cramped even with 20 people around the stage listening to the live music. The tickets for live music were expensive (20$) in my opinion, made worse by the fact that they take cash only at the door, so you're gonna have to pay surcharge at the on-site ATM if not prepared. Strange expectation in today's world to operate a cash-only business. The artists in the concert was excellent, talented and funny, but the sound quality and acoustics in the venue were beyond horrible. I felt bad for the artists. The food looked good, but I can't imagine how they justify selling perogies for 22$ + tax + tip when it's a poverty meal that took Polish people through wartimes. The profit margin on it is around 1900% which is just insane. The arcade games cost around 2$ each, which again isn't exactly cheap, but perhaps justified for antique/legacy games. Their free-play nights for 12.50 sound like a good deal though! Overall, it was a checklist item for me to see the place but I don't think I'd ever go again.
Mel H — Google review
Stumbled upon House of TARG while staying in Ottawa, so glad we did. Free Play pinball and arcade games on Sunday with a live DJ playing 80s music with a dancefloor. Really friendly staff, great mix of all ages playing games. Had a blast, we hope to be b back again next time we're in Ottawa.
Karen O — Google review
I went with a friend for the perogies, they were amazing. However the bartenders attitude was less than satisfactory. We said thank you sir, and he got offended and blurted out 3 different reasons on how it was our fault; 1. I'm not a sir. 2. You should learn how to talk to people. 3. Do better. That was not necessary, maybe you should do better sir. Will not be returning. For it has changed for the worst
Shift F — Google review
Everyone, including customers, are always super friendly. I have never had a bad experience coming here. I do find it can get a bit pricey (food, game and beverages) if you don't attend on a freeplay night/time. The perogies are delicious though.
Jennifer — Google review
Lots of fun. Good mix of new pinball machines and older video games to play. Great value on weekends. All you can play from noon until 8pm for only $12.50 + tax. Food is good, reasonably priced and service was excellent. Atmosphere was fun and lively. I will be there again soon.
Joel C — Google review
Best spot in the city. An inclusive space to play pinball and arcade games, have the tastiest handmade perogies around, listen to live music, and hang out. Lots of different types of music most nights, several days a week offering freeplay (flat rate at the door to play as many games as you like), local fundraising efforts, and even opportunities to rent the space out for your private event. This place will always be #1.

Nestled in the vibrant Byward Market Square, Mercury Lounge is a cozy and inviting venue that perfectly blends an intimate atmosphere with a lively entertainment scene. This eclectic spot hosts an array of events, from electrifying dance music DJ sets to captivating live band performances and even film screenings. Whether you're there for an acoustic show or to enjoy some slam poetry, the ambiance is always welcoming. The lounge prides itself on being a modern soul club, showcasing everything from EDM to soulful tunes.
Can't say enough about this venue. Easily one of the best atmosphere's in the city. Plenty of early start and late finish events. Amazing DJs, performers and talent. The crowd is always friendly and every pair of feet is moving to the music from start to finish. Small venue so perfect for intimate shows, though there are multiple floors. The venue has been a staple in Ottawa's downtown Marketplace for generations. Attending at age 25, my parents remarked to me "We went to Mercury, it's been forever, but we went to a techno show there years and years ago...." Gotta love that nostalgia and history. Be a part of it, step right, step left, step into the footsteps of an eon of good feels and groovy music, right here in the very heart of Ottawa. Let's hope I'll hear stories of my kids attending shows at timeless venues such as this one when I'm old and grey.

So last night I went to a stop light party my friend was promoting, we all went together got in fine and paid my entry fine even went out for a smoke once and it was fine, after about 2 hours my two friends went to go have a smoke alone so I waited, I went out to check on them and the “bouncer” or whoever he is told me I can’t go back in with my durag on, I asked why and he just said I can’t go back in and it was on their “dress code” yet I was already inside and no one had said anything to me for hours, he then grabbed me and put me behind the red rope. Prior to me taking the first photo of him he took my phone out of my hands so I couldn’t take photos, once I did take photos he closed up shop and the second bouncer said “come closer” so I did and he grabbed me over the red rope, and over a fold up table and proceeded to throw me around like a rag doll, of course I allowed it because I’m impaired and it’s not worth my time, THAT BEING SAID THEY DID ATTACK ME FOR NO REASON AND THEYRE THIEVES

This place used to be great until they started blaring music to blow peoples ear drums off just like the rest of the bars and clubs in Ottawa. Is this some sort of psychological trick to get people to drink more? Why would you put a giant speaker in a venue this small? Anyone without ear plugs could seriously damage their hearing listening to sound at this level. Other than that. Great place.

One of the best places to dance in the city on a Saturday night! Easily my favorite dance club in the city. Besides a good layout of the floor for dancing, the staff is fast and friendly. They host a variety of DJs with different styles. Looking forward to , and hoping for, their reopening post-Covid.

Gelled up blow-outs, extra small v-neck t-shirts, wads of cash, fake tans, tacky jewelry... You won't find any of that here. This is one of the best night clubs in Ottawa. The staff is fantastic, and the music is even better. There are heaps of amazing DJs and local talent to check out here; there's definitely something for everyone.

Ok so this place is really alright we had an amazing time! It opens at 10 and we came for 1030.. it was slightly quiet at that time (which suited us so we could have a drink and soak it in).. and then shortly thereafter it became quite busy and was super fun! The nice catch to this place is that you can switch between the hip hop scene downstairs, and the trance house one upstairs. And you enter on the main level. Coverage was cheap although the mandatory coat check for the upper level dance hall was a bit annoying.. however I did happen to bump into the manager whilst discussing it and he said go ahead but they aren't responsible for any theft if you leave your coat somewhere. Well of course! I enjoyed the dancing and the vibe a lot, it's nice to just jump in and not expect anything. We weren't there with any hopes other than to enjoy ourselves.. although we met some really cool people and a few nice surprises came along. And we stayed until 230 Haha! If you want a slightly older crowd than just 20 year olds, this is a great place. I'd say most people were like us, in their 30s and yes there were many in their 20s too but also some older folks as well. All just out to be out and enjoy. The drink prices were normal, bring some cash if you don't want to use credit, a typical theme is no debit in these places. The djs were good.. there were a lot of beautiful people and we must return! And our little freestyle rap before it got busy made us laugh so hard... just me and my homeboy being silly. We just did a selfie video for it at the bar. Haha! Oh... and you can freestyle on the djembe drums in front of the djs in the house trance hall... so epic and we did!

We were there Friday November 23, 2018. Did a lot of research as we came up from Toronto. Was not disappointed. DJ's upstairs playing house were great. Friendly atmosphere and cozy. Only draw back was that building seemed cold and drafty upstairs. Byward Market has a variety of options and we were glad we chose Mercury. See you again Ottawa.

The Lieutenant's Pump is a long-standing British pub located on Elgin Street in Ottawa. Since 1984, it has been a beloved neighborhood spot offering a relaxed atmosphere and diverse beer selection. The pub features a large outdoor patio with TV screens for sports viewing and serves classic cocktails alongside pub grub. With its old English-style charm, this establishment is known for its buzzing weekend brunch and mason-jar cocktails.
We dropped by the Pump yesterday for the wing special. We met some people at the bar. Very friendly crowd. The wings were decent, and certainly nothing to complain about when considering the fact that they were half off. I chose their hot honey Cajun sauce, and it was good. I would order again. The draught selection here is also really good. A wide variety of different beer types.

We liked the Lieutenant’s Pump quite a bit. They have a nice selection of draught beer options. The food options are quite good, and their beer selection dessert options are terrific. They also have some nice cold brew coffee options for after dinner as well. The staff is very pleasant and they work hard to take care of you.

Great specials will be back next Sunday. The services that I've received was not up to par & could use some improvement. (this was the third time I've came here & received declining service 2 of the 3). I hope next time I could get better service because i love the roast beef & don't want to be treated as an undervalued customer. Thank you EDIT* Went for Sunday dinner tonight, I had same ongoing problem with same exact server. She spoke with one of my guests that she knew as we were leaving and said I was rude & left with out paying which that was a lie. Very unprofessional and unpleasant as i had to hear this from my dinner guests. I don't think this establishment cares for my business and I won't be coming back cause that is clearly what they want. Not my loss but it's sad I can't be treated like a regular patron

New favourite breakfast in Ottawa. The service was friendly and quick. The menu had something everyone could choose from and so many tasty looking options. The potatoes were perfectly crispy and the fruit salad was a fresh touch! Great portions for a good price. We sat on the patio which was lovely.

What a cool place! The food was amazing and the prices were pretty good, too. The waitresses were great and checked on us a few times. I had the Honey Mustard Crispy Chicken Wrap and my husband went all out with the Double Trouble Super Burger with bacon and cheese. My wrap was one of the best wraps I’ve had and my husband really enjoyed his burger. I had a Watermelon Smash drink which was like a glass of fresh watermelon with a little extra kick. If you are in the area, do yourself a favour and try this place

Stopped in at the Lieutenant’s Pump for breakfast and it was spot on. The plate came with fluffy scrambled eggs, crispy bacon, sausage, toast, breakfast potatoes, and a side of fresh fruit salad. Everything was cooked perfectly and tasted fresh. Service was attentive and friendly, which made the whole experience even better. Solid place for a hearty breakfast.

The Moonroom is a chic and cozy bar and lounge nestled in Ottawa's Little Italy. It offers an intimate setting to savor creative cocktails and Mediterranean-inspired small bites. The venue's hidden gem is its outdoor patio, providing a secluded space for patrons to enjoy drinks, delicious snacks, and occasional live music. With its inviting ambiance, the Moonroom's patio is perfect for unwinding after work or catching up with friends under the stars or twinkling lights.
Some of the best service I have ever had. The girl who served us was friendly, bright , knowledgeable, and engaging. I can't remember what wine I ordered though 😄 we did not order food. We sat on the back patio and I think it is my favorite in the city. Even better than Arlo and Lupulus. Just beautiful and comfortable back there. Prices for the wine were a it hight though.

While the cocktails themselves are fine, the price itself just doesn’t warrant what you get. The cocktails were okay but I’ve had better for far less of a cost. I feel they would be better off having more creative or unique cocktails. The patio and bar is nice and cute but seems like any backyard with lots of fairy lights, it’s also very dark. Overall I don’t think I’d come back unless they made some more unique drinks.

Adore this place. One comment is that the chairs on the outside of the table would be better with backings just to make it more accessible friendly. Otherwise I love it. Popcorn, a garden, dealers choice drink options, moody ambiance..reminds me of places I’ve been in Paris and London or even Italy or Montreal. One of a kind for Ottawa for sure. I only had one drink but it’s great to go solo and just have a cocktail & read, for a date or a girls night with a bff.

When the sun dips below the horizon, Ottawa comes alive with a vibrant nightlife that is truly captivating. One of the standout venues in this bustling city is The City at Night, an exceptional nightclub that embodies modern sophistication and energy. With its sleek design and lively atmosphere, it’s the perfect place to dance until dawn. This intimate space may be small, but it packs a punch with an impressive lineup of live DJs spinning house, techno, trance, and more.
from a person who goes to different raves/venues this one is absolutely nuts! staff is amazing, super kind and always with a good vibe. crowd is not that bad, it’s a bit small though so get ready to get a bit crowded, djs are REALLY good, my friends and i went for a techno show and we enjoyed it a lot. don’t doubt it, this place is actually amazing!

Ahh City, how I love thee. Anyone who loves EDM is gonna end up here- all your local artists to amazing international performances and Escapade after parties. Legends of yesterday & today- in fact, the person in the crowd beside you could be tomorrow's big name in EDM - so practice your PLUR (Google it) City is BIG on consent (why I love this place) their security is top notch- you have an issue, you speak up and it's dealt with. Love the intimacy as it's a tight space when it's packed and the artists are an arm's length away. The sound system is loud, bring loops/ear gasms etc if you need them. Bar can be hard to navigate too when packed, use your manners- most people are PLUR gang- but tip your bar tenders & smile, you'll be seen from then on. Bar, security & door staff are top notch. In the summer, yes, it's way too hot, and muggy, is it a basement. So dress accordingly. (Mesh/alt styles all welcome) As always, do not use flash pls in the scene- it's a vibe harsher- there's sick lazers and Rick's white rabbit events are unreal. Was once told nothing that glows is allowed- Honestly, City has grown so much from just a club- to a kitch spot when concepts was running on Thursdays, sometimes shut down for private events, and lately, extended hours (5 am) - also a camping event in the summer (search on insta for details) Bathrooms, damp, artsy (bring a sharpie) big line ups, squads inside the 2 stalls, often needing reminders to exit (ladies room esp) be ready for that, or ask security to deal w it. If you can't find your friend(s), check the alley.

It’s City at Night (rave/rap music club), Heart and Crown (country/rock music club) and Blue Cactus (chill bar)… the Ottawa ringer. Just pick one or two and try not to get stuck outside during the winter, the lines can be brutal. Luckily it was like 20 degrees Celsius on Halloween this year.
Andrew — Google review
City at night is by far the spot to be. Every staff member is welcoming. Door guys/girls greet you with open arms and a smile. Head down to coat check and you're greeted with more beautiful smiles and happy energy. Bouncers were soft hearted especially Mr. Beard he was bopping away with the rest of us and still on guard but don't let it trick you they mean business if you act a fool. The bar staff are quick, but supper mean lmaooo I'm kidding more amazing energy. Delicious cocktails generous pours and cheap if you show up at the right time. The DJs keep you grooving all night with non stop bangers. Lastly the manager Mr. N really cares about your experience I feel this is such a safe place to be and I'm proud to be part of the City At Night family. Don't let the bad reviews draw you a false picture come for yourself. I HOPE TO SEE YOU ALL SOON!!!!!
Brandon D — Google review
Hidden gem in Ottawa! If you love EDM, especially house music, this is the spot. The venue isn't huge like other nightclubs, but it makes for an intimate experience. You can see local artists weekly and international artists during bigger events. During the weekdays, it turns into a lounge called, Afterlight. They are slowly hosting more events that include music outside of EDM, so it's nice to see the diversity and expansion. All staff members are super friendly and helpful. Tickets are very affordable and sometimes, entry is free before a certain time or completely.

Ive travelled around the world specifically for house music, and when Im at this place with the right DJ, I couldnt care less of whats going on in Buenos Aires, Tulum, Ibiza, etc. Its the only club I go to in Ottawa. Its not every week, but they bring great international talent

The crown jewel of Ottawa nightlife! Definitely the best sound system and place to go out dancing in ottawa! A safe place to let loose with a strong sense of community.
Nick C — Google review
The club was really great, and I truly enjoyed everything about it. The music was very good, just could have used more variation in the music rhythm. We were there for about an hour and during that time, the rhythm of the music didn’t change at all and was just techno on a constant beat, whereas usually, the beat is varied to keep it from being monotonous. Considering the entrance fee we paid, which was twenty-two dollars, there could have been more variation in the musical rhythm.”

This was my first time here, which was the YK Osiris concert a few nights ago. Even having a large crowd for this event, I was able to navigate around the floor pretty smoothly, atmosphere was nice, drinks were reasonably priced and they had cans as well instead of bottles, (one of the bartenders said) for floor safety, which I think is a good idea. Haven't been here on a regular night yet but was satisfied overall and I would definitely return.

Had a wonderful time at The Standard. The Detroit style Stay Gold pizza exceeded expectations. I was expecting the thick crust to be too heavy and "bready" but those crispy edges were very satisfying. There were also numerous gluten-free options which was appreciated by one of our party.

I didn’t try the food, but the slushy cocktail exceeded expectations. Most places serve weak, overly sweet drinks that taste more like juice—not worth it. This one, however, was flavorful, well-balanced, and perfectly priced during happy hour. The service was excellent, and the patio seating made for a fantastic experience. A thoughtful touch: the bathroom stalls have full-length mirrors, offering a discreet way to check your outfit. Highly recommend for drinks with friends, family, or co-workers.

Came here for the first time for sippin Santa and the decor was so much fun. Truly loved the unique cocktails that came in the fun mugs, though the mugs are a tad overpriced to purchase. The cocktails are super boozy, which is great for the price and the service was pretty good though our server did not always check with us first before trying to clear our dishes or our drinks which led to one of my drinks being cleared away when it was still half full, and I wasn’t done with it by the time, I noticed I had to fly her down and let her know to please bring me another drink because I wasn’t done with it But I’m happy they did not double charge me for it. I had ordered the popcorn chicken, which was OK. The pieces are actually a bit too big for it to be popcorn chicken style but it did come with a lot of chicken pieces, but I likely wouldn’t get it again. The food is going to be typical pub food but definitely coming for the drinks and event was well worth it.

Grabbed dinner during happy hour and got their discount beef brisket sliders and Tuesday special karaage chicken strips and fries. The sliders were nice, sort of like little grilled cheeses with a bit of nice beef and pickle. The fries were great, good texture and salt level. I can only say that if you want karaage go to a Japanese restaurant instead. I'd visit again for burgers!

Go here if you like pizza with charred topings, cheese that feels like rubber with burnt edges. Just took two bites and and decided to look after my health when I remembered the geasy and sticky door to the toilets and the urinals which seemed they hadn’t been cleaned in weeks. I wonder how clean the kitchen is. The waitresses are kind but did not offer to make up for how displeased I was with my food. Not that I would have risked trying something else.

I've been here a few times in the past month or so, on date night and with friends. Everything from the service to the food has been great. So far, my hubby and I have tried the udon noodles, the wings, the perogies, the onion rings, sweet potato fries, and the fish and chips and for dessert the ice cream sandwich. Along with Sangria for me and rum cocktails for him. Food and drinks were delicious! The only reason I gave a 4☆ for the atmosphere is that the lighting is a little dim, especially upstairs, but the vibe is fantastic! Prices are reasonable, and I'd go so far to even say slightly under some other pubs, which have pumped up their prices quite a bit in the last two years. It was a pleasant surprise and our friends remarked on it as well. The menu is varied with vegan/vegetarian options as well. Parking is a bit dicey as it's Ottawa paid street parking until after 7 p.m., when it becomes free. After a storm, they didn't clear the roads well, so we had to park on/between snowbanks. But that's a city issue , not Pour Boy's, but I just thought I'd mention it. The only downfall to this pub is that it's not accessible. So, for those who are disabled/wheelchair bound , it's a no-go unless someone can help you over the door threshold. If you have reduced mobility, the lower level is fine, but the stairs are a bit steep to get upstairs, plus the bathrooms are also upstairs, so this might end up an issue as well. All in all, it's a great little place, and I'm glad it was recommended to me. It just might be our new go-to place for nights out with friends 🧡.

With three locations across the city, each venue provides a distinct experience. The ByWard Market location boasts an inviting front patio and delectable menu, particularly renowned for its wings. Meanwhile, the Westboro spot features a stunning patio and is open seven days a week.
First time here. Visiting daughter and dropped in for a brew and burger! Great food, tasty craft beers but the best part was an extremely friendly. Staff and quick service. Dry relaxing ambience and very busy with locals. Definitely will be back during our next visit. Food was great but I never give food a 5 unless it’s gourmet.

Service was lovely and the beer was tasty. But food was unbearable. $18 for 5 badly done dumplings $18 Mediterranean plate with ??? Falafel was way too dry and tasteless. P Mini pita was not soft and 2 leaves of dry up basil? I think they can do a lot better. Definitely will not go back to eat here again!!

First time going to this restaurant and was less than impressed. The server said to sit anywhere on the patio, but when he found out I was a lone diner, it was no, sit only at a table for two. Turned out I sat under a huge spider web, wondering if I was going to have a date for lunch after all, haha. Service turned out to be crap also. I guess if you don't order alcohol, you aren't worth the time. I ordered the Southwest wrap with side salad, $33 later including tip, wasn't worth it. The best part of the meal was the side salad. When it was time to pay the bill, not even a 'have a nice day'. And I thought I was being generous giving 15%. Hard pass on The Clocktower Brew Pub on Mackay.

Food and beer were excellent. A little dark for my tastes, but it is a pub! Our server was very good.

Want a big fan of the ment for a long time but it's really getting better. The duck fat fries were delicious, light, crispy and full of flavor. Is Simone ever going to serve enough of that mayo dip to go with them. I always run out.

Beer was pretty good. Very disappointed in the the food. Ordered a poutine and paid an extra 6.00 to add braised brisket. When it came out, the braised brisket was room temperature sandwich meat.
Patrick S — Google review
Good experience! It began to rain and we were quickly accommodated to a table which sheltered us from the rain. Everything was great but I can't recommend the nachos as highly as I would like. The BBQ sauce overpowered everything else and there was very little cheese. We asked for jalapeños on the side and they were littered throughout. Other than that it was a great experience and the supreme burger was very good.

Visited on Saturday for lunch. Service was ok, they were fairly busy with a big party of people. Food was good (shared wings and poutine). The real star is their beer though! Would come back to try the other varieties of in house beer they have!

Live music bar
Step into the vintage wonderland of The Dominion Tavern in Ottawa, a historic dive bar that has been a local institution since 1927. This unpretentious watering hole offers an easygoing atmosphere with ample brews, pool tables, and live music. The back patio provides a perfect spot to enjoy the cheap drinks and soak in the laid-back vibe. Additionally, it's a popular venue for live music events and is known for its friendly bartenders.
One of a kind dive bar & an Ottawa institution. The definitive jaunt for all flavours punk, metal, and alternative music in the Byward Market, with chill vibes and strong anti-establishment spirit. Also the home of some of the nicest people in town.

Excellent spot for live music and pool (just not at the same time 🤣). Always a great time to be had at the Dom; drinks are fairly priced, event line up is always packed with local gems, and the crew here is solid.
Jennica F — Google review
It was nice talking to the one bartender, they will not allow you back in if you leave for 10 minutes to go smoke and have a half beer Plus waiting at the bar. Guy said it was past 2am and allowed others in just before me, told me I could not return? I will not be giving this place a visit again in this lifetime. I attempted to give this place another chance due to a previous bad experience over a half decade ago. I do not recommend this place if you are looking for a beer downtown look elsewhere. Cheers adventures.

The bartenders are always so polite and the bands they get are great!

Service is great, and as one of the few venues hosting metal, hardcore, and punk bands, they provide a much needed space for that. Beer/drinks prices are nuts though. $12 for a pint is insane.

The Rainbow Bistro, established in 1984, is a renowned live music venue located in Ottawa's ByWard Market neighborhood. This long-standing club offers regular live blues music and cocktails in a lively atmosphere. The two-story venue has hosted iconic Canadian performers like The Tragically Hip and Amanda Marshall, as well as big names in the blues music industry such as Jeff Healey and Koko Taylor.
Great atmosphere for a live performance. Big Trout Band had a fantastic first live performance

We were there with our group to see Barry and the Blasters and to support the Christie Lake Kids Camp fundraiser. What a great night and fantastic intimate venue. It did get very crowded and warm and the servers were busy but all to be expected given the great turnout! Shout out to Barry and the Blasters for a fabulous show and for doing this fundraiser once again👍🤗❤️

One of the best live music spots in the city ! Been a few times to see locals bands play and it was always a great time! Great sound system, friendly staff and cheap beers! Would recommend buying the tickets online as they are a few bucks cheaper than at the door.

Sunday Blues Jam though they charge 5$ for all including jammers is fair for now a days , your getting a chance to play all types of genres and may I say that most genres stems from the blues. They all tell a story whether sad or happy or of hardship. This environment encourages the youths and anyone starting out in music, to experience playing in a band atmosphere and with experienced and talented musicians and singers. I say good on them for doing what they're doing 👌 💯 💖for plain Jane and the crossroad blues band Lovers of Music
Cardian S — Google review
Sunday Blues Jam — pay to play $ 5? I went to check out the Blues Jam at Rainbow Bistro and was surprised to learn that musicians are expected to pay $5 just to get on stage and play. This is an open jam. Most open mics and jams in Ottawa don’t charge the musicians anything, and some even offer drink specials or appreciation for the players. Here, you’re basically paying to provide free entertainment to the bar. Personally, I don’t think that’s fair, and I won’t be back.

Was an amazing night with a really unique atmosphere. Their drinks were strong and for a low price. Music was good, you can get amazing seats anywhere in the building since it's smaller. Would definitely recommend getting ear plugs either at the event (they sell them) or beforehand since the music is VERY loud. The venue I went to lasted from 8pm to 12am, with three bands, but I don't know how long single bands go for.

Barrymores Music Hall, formerly known as the Imperial Theatre, has a rich history in Ottawa. It started as a movie theatre on Bank Street before being transformed into Pandoras Box, an upscale strip club that preserved some of the original theater's ornate decor. Today, Barrymores is a renowned music venue that has been hosting live performances for over 40 years. Located in downtown Ottawa, it offers an unforgettable experience for music enthusiasts.
Great layout. Incorporating a modern environment in a venue with age. What a wonderful mix. Great dance space. Great bottle service. They sure know how to Mix the old with the new. This is my new favorite venue. Check out the VIP area for a superb view and service.

Always have a great time. Place is very run down and not as nice as it once was but we always have fun dancing. Sadly they would not discreetly accomodate our friend in a wheelchair (even though there is a back entrance to avoid being carried up stairs in front of everyone). Otherwise its a fun cheap night out. In response to the Owner below..... The problem was not that he had to be carried and that there was stairs.... the problem was that there was no effort made to use an alternative door so that he did not have to feel like a Circus animal being carried up stairs while everyone is watching. We even asked if he could come in a few minutes early to avoid this if no alternative door can be used and this was also denied. There was no snow or rain on this night and I'm sure there would have been no problem to use an alternative entrance. There was no attempt at customer service in this case. It put a damper on a night out as our friend did not feel comfortable coming out with us as a result of this. THAT was the issue.... not the fact that there are stairs.
Megan M — Google review
I lowered the stars because they charge $4 for water. When asked for tap water as a designated driver, they asked me to buy a water bottle. The law (and common sense) requires that they provide reasonably priced non alcoholic drinks..Beer $7 .. water $4... how reasonable is that! H2O aside, venue is tightly spaced for dancing , although many stairs and seating option in the gallery area available. Good venue, bad policy.
Tim H — Google review
Classic Barrymores, let me begin by saying this place has been around since my parents we young adults and they had good times then as well. Recently saw a DJ put on a set here and had a great time. Tentative bartenders, good light show, and good drink selection as it should be. The layout is quite unique because it really is designed like a theater or music Hall. Although there a lots of stairs both entering, going to seating, to the dance floor, and washrooms. Stairs everywhere!

Barrymores will always hold a special place in my heart. I've had countless nights out where I was left feeling nothing but bliss. The staff always make me feel so special - at one point I was going so frequently that they almost felt like family. I really enjoyed when they would set up LED walls. Although the venue could use some sprucing up, it made the atmosphere feel more authentic to its roots. I'm hoping this venue will be around for years to come.

I love 80s night. Its not every Sunday anymore just holidays and the upstairs is closed off but still an awesome place. And to request songs you go through the bouncer at the stage. I miss the simple old days.....sigh. Every songs video is shown on a big screen!

Came to see Crystal Method and was kind of worried it would be a sweat pit, but the temperature inside was actually pretty good. Definitely a unique venue, maybe more geared towards traditional performances but it was still a blast. Quick and attentive bar staff managed to handle the bustle of people in a quick and friendly manner.
Derek C — Google review
extremely long wait to get in last night, probably because people were thrown off that we had to check coats (could not being them in) and they charged to do so. Kind of ridiculous considering the price of the ticket. So that seemed to hold up the line. Beer selection was brutal and you can't pay with debit (luckily I had cash but others did not). Staff was hit and miss (some friendly, some not so much) the person doing the coat check was really nice and enjoyable, so was the busser. The place itself is pretty neat. dirty, but it seems like it's meant to be dirty. It was a fun time.

Located in the heart of Ottawa's vibrant ByWard Market, Lowertown Brewery offers a casual and welcoming atmosphere for patrons to enjoy Canadian comfort food paired with craft beer and cocktails. The pub boasts a spacious patio and a generous selection of craft brews, making it a haven for beer enthusiasts.
Lowertown Brewery is an absolute gem. The burgers are consistently excellent and juicy, and my partner was delighted by beef brisket sandwich. As an organizer of Pinball Women Ottawa, I can't say enough good things about our experience here hosting monthly tournaments. The internal layout is enormous, and we've been able to easily share the space even on busy nights with big crowds watching an important hockey game! If you're looking for a spot to host an event, I highly recommend reaching out to them. The owner, Alex, has consistently gone above and beyond to make sure we feel welcomed and have everything we need. The fantastic service extends to the entire team. A special shout-out has to go to Lauren and Taylor, who have taken such wonderful care of our group. They make a real effort to learn our names and always serve with a smile, adding so much to the positive vibes of our events. We couldn't be happier. Whether you're looking for a standout meal, quality pints with a good assortment of selection, or a venue to host your event, I would encourage you to check out you Lowertown Brewery. Highly recommended!

"Lowertown Brewery: A Great Spot for Craft Beer Lovers" Lowertown Brewery offers a fantastic selection of in-house brewed beers. The beer flight is the perfect way to sample their diverse offerings. The service was excellent, and the addition of house-made chips provided the perfect accompaniment to the beers. We had a thoroughly enjoyable time. I recommend Lowertown Brewery to any craft beer enthusiast visiting Ottawa.

Sat at the bar, had great service. I ordered the smash burger, which was delicious, but is really more like a regular burger. Onion rings are between savoury and sweet, possibly in a beer batter.

We had an amazing time here and our server Lauren was so good. She looked after us so well on a very busy night, (the Blue Jays were playing). We had such a good experience that we went back the next night after checking out a few other local bars and again had an amazing experience. The supervisor Dimitra as well as Lauren remembered us and again made us feel so welcome. If I am ever back in Ottawa I will definitely come back. Thank you Lowertown 👍

I go to Lowertown Brewery every Tuesday for karaoke, and it’s honestly the highlight of my week. They offer full band karaoke, which means you get to sing with a live band—and they are phenomenal. 🎤🎶 Their range is amazing, and the energy is unbeatable. The service is top-notch, especially from Jason, the bartender. He goes above and beyond every single time. If I could give him more than 5 stars, I’d give him 10—he genuinely cares about his guests and it shows. 🍻 And let’s talk about the food… I usually order the pulled pork sandwich, and it’s hands down the best I’ve ever had. I’m gluten-free, and their gluten-free bun is not only delicious, but there’s no extra charge, which is such a rare and appreciated touch. 🙌 Between the amazing band, the incredible service, and the delicious food, Lowertown Brewery delivers an unforgettable experience every time. Highly, highly recommended!

Went with a large party. Ribs were tough. Flavour just slapped on the top with BBQ sauce. Fries and beer were good though. Service was OK, a little forgetful a couple times but they seemed to almost be overwhelmed at times. Atmosphere was good. Lots of “first time” or young drinkers on a Friday night, it seemed. But that’s to be expected, I suppose. An average, large generic modern pub experience for me.

Lauren was an amazing server. We loved her vibe and the attention she gave to our entire table. What a fan experience in the pub watching a game. An excellent vibe with an outstanding atmosphere. I highly recommend coming back to this fantastic venue! So I took my advice and came back to the pub. A Sunday night was another superb experience with complete personalized service. Dimitra, the supervisor was welcoming and greeted us as if we were regulars. She also shared some historical information with us since we are tourists. Lauren, our previous waitress also took the time to chat and make us feel welcomed and recognized. I would highly recommend Lowertown as a destination in Ottawa.

El Furniture Warehouse Ottawa is a popular spot in Byward Market, known for its lively atmosphere, nightly DJs, and rooftop patio. The bar offers a budget-friendly menu with options like chicken wings and artichoke dip that are highly recommended. The cozy ambiance and friendly service make it a hit among locals and visitors alike. While the drinks may be on the pricier side due to the location, the affordable and delicious food more than makes up for it.
Good experience with my first visit itself. Food was delicious and service is great. Parking will be a bit tight on peek time.

This place is Bar like with booths for eating. Music was loud... but good. Service was quick and attentive. Helpful and friendly. Menu seemed inexpensive, but portion size was small. In addition, food came out of the kitchen super Uber Fast!! Suggesting and tasting like it was made fresh a few days ago and warmed up... and plated. I had the Texas BBQ... I did not taste any BBQ nor any Spicy as the menu suggested. .. For those Ottawa residents... think The Works, but louder and not as good food.
Scott B — Google review
I wasn’t too impressed with this bar. The staff didn’t seem very friendly or welcoming, which made the experience less enjoyable. The music was uncomfortably loud, making it hard to have a proper conversation. The drinks and food were okay—fair quality but definitely not the best I’ve had. Overall, not a place I’d rush back to
Sara N — Google review
I feel like it’s a real toss up ordering or coming here based on who is working in the kitchen. I always pay extra to have extra Mac sauce on their Mac and cheese because it’s a rarity that without that you won’t get dry noodles. But even when paying extra like tonight I’m bestowed sad naked bland noodles with enough Mac sauce to fit in one spoonful. It’s sad because it’s good when made properly, but there’s someone in that kitchen who doesn’t read instructions on orders that’s for sure.

We went to Warehouse around 10 p.m., and even though there was a line, we got seated really quickly in a cozy booth at the back of the restaurant—which made all the difference this time. We’ve been to Warehouse quite a few times now, and honestly, it’s been a hit or miss. The last two visits we were seated outside on the patio, and the music was so loud we could barely hear each other talk, which definitely affected the vibe. But this time was great—seating indoors in a booth gave us a much better experience. We could actually talk and enjoy ourselves, and I really loved that. Our server was super sweet and friendly. It did take a little while for our food order to be taken, but the place was pretty packed, so I understand the delay. I had originally planned to get the quesadillas, but unfortunately, they were out of the regular chicken and only had breaded chicken left. I was a bit disappointed since I was really craving the quesadillas, but I appreciated the option to substitute. I ended up ordering the mango salad with chicken, and while it wasn’t anything amazing, it was a nice lighter option since I’ve been trying to eat a bit healthier. My friend got their usual—the mushroom melt burger (sorry if that’s not the exact name)—and they absolutely loved it, as always. We also had a few tequila shots, which were super affordable and added to the fun of the night. The vibe was great, especially thanks to where we were seated. Food and drinks are very budget-friendly, which is a big plus. While Warehouse can be a bit unpredictable depending on the night and where you’re seated, this visit was wonderful, and I’d definitely go again.
Harini R — Google review
I decided to stop in since I recognized the name from their Toronto location, but overall I wasn’t very impressed. The atmosphere gave off more of a college hangout vibe—cheap, mediocre service, and food that was just okay at best. The music was also quite loud, which made it hard to enjoy the meal. That said, it might be a good spot for university students looking for an affordable place to grab drinks and meet up with friends.
Alexandra D — Google review
Was excited for the sourdough grilled 3 cheese and soup. Was sorely disappointed. Quarter of my sandwich had no cheese at all, the other side really didn't have much at all. Super thin layer. The other disappointing factor was they use American cheese, cheddar and Feta. Had the menu stated what cheese they used i never would have ordered it. Bread was really good, soup was tasty, the side poutine was cold. I also didn't receive any compensation at all. So if you have a complaint, don't expect it to be viewed seriously. Super disappointed.
Wendy M — Google review
This place is a vibe. Dark, grungey, unapologetically casual and that’s exactly what makes it cool. The atmosphere screams “I don’t care, but in a cool way” Perfect for college students or anyone down for a chill night out. The food? Cheap and way better than you’d expect. We grabbed calamari and tacos which were both solid. It’s the kind of spot where you can hit the bar for a drink, share plates with friends, and not feel like your wallet’s crying afterward. The bad reviews ? Middle-aged folks expecting Michelin-star service… like, relax. Nobody’s rolling out white tablecloths here It’s a grunge spot with string lights, skateboards on the wall, neon signs, cheap eats, and that’s the beauty of it. If that’s your vibe, welcome home 🖤

Casino du Lac-Leamy in Gatineau is a popular destination known for its vibrant atmosphere and top-notch amenities. The casino offers an impressive array of over 1,800 slot machines and 64 table games, catering to various preferences and budgets. Visitors can also enjoy sophisticated dining options, entertainment lineup, and a relaxing spa. Nearby accommodations range from luxurious hotels like Hilton Lac-Leamy to cozy apartments such as Kialaa Studio.
Didn’t get to take better photos because my phone died but honestly the best casino I’ve been to so far! I’ve only been to a few but this one seems the least depressing. Went on a Saturday evening. Loved the water fountains outside. Loved the DJ with people just dancing and having a good time. Usually I find casinos are filled with older people, but this one although had a lot of older people, there were still some fairly younger people which I don’t see often. Also loved the self-serve drink station instead of having to wait for someone to come by with the free drinks. Nice atmosphere, would go again!

It's pretty standard for a casino, not that I have seen many. It is a labyrinth designed to suck you in, sometimes it's fun to get lost in the sauce, not when you have a vested interest though. Minor caveat for me as an anglophone only person. Some of the card games have French letters to designate the cards which can throw you off, most of the machines are proper and have translations. I still had to pull out Google lens to figure some of the "printed" French MDR. All things in consideration, this is a pretty fun place to go with friends! Do not go alone. Please think about your wife and children too hahahaha. I'd also recommend checking out the cigar lounge called Bacchus, that is in the hotel lobby of the Hilton adjacent to the casino.

Copper Spirits and Sights is a stylish rooftop lounge situated atop the Andaz hotel in Ottawa. This chic indoor-outdoor space offers an array of cocktails, weekend DJs, and stunning city views. The venue is known for its sustainably focused feast + revel restaurant and serves as a prime spot for an aperitif or nightcap with its fantastic city vistas.
I just went to copper for the first time yesterday and had the chance to have Sasha as my server. The service was excellent, there simply isn't any another way to put it. Now about the food, while the menu is limited due to kitchen size the food remains excellent and my respect goes to the chef. Of course it should also go without saying that the views are unmatched and incredibly beautiful. Overall amazing place to go with friends, maybe for a date or even as a guest of the Andaz. I'll be going more often for sure. Oh and the prices are pretty competitive.

Great cocktails, good beer, and awesome servers and bartenders. Their signature cocktails are amazing. However, it is the view from the rooftop of the Andaz Hotel, especially on a cool evening that is the most remarkable. Great view of the Byward Market, Parliament, and Gatineau. Definitely recommend a stay at the hotel and/or a few drinks at the Copper Spirits.

I would love to tell them what they could do to improve.... but I can't think of a single thing!! My wife can't sit right at the edge so they put us in a booth elevated above all of the other tables for a much better, uninterrupted view!! The service was impeccable, not only from our sever but from any server or the manager who happened to pass by and notice that we might need something. We never felt rushed as you might think when you're taking up a six top with two people. I've read some reviews about the food and service not being worth the price, however; we spent almost 3 hours there, saw a beautiful sunset over a beautiful city, had gourmet food, perfect service, and excellent wine for $200 cdn. If you think that's expensive, we obviously have different standards. Don't miss it, you won't regret it!
Patrick T — Google review
My husband and I went up the this rooftop lounge for a drink to see the view. We shared a bottle of wine, which was so delicious. We didn't have any food, so I can't speak to that. The views were incredible! We were there for the sun setting and loved the timing. The staff lit the fires on the patio and with the reflection on the glass, some of the pictures looked like parts of the city were on fire.
Debbie B — Google review
This restaurant boasts the best view in all of Ottawa, making it an ideal choice for a scenic date night. However, the service is quite disappointing. The staff is slow and appears untrained, as simple tasks like bringing utensils and napkins are not being performed. The cocktails are just okay, nothing special, but the food is better, though the portions are minuscule. In conclusion, the restaurant’s stunning view is the only reason to visit.
Omid M — Google review
Beautiful spot with great selection of strong drinks and amazing view. Service could use a lot of improving in terms of efficiency, but they were all nice with smiles just simply inexperienced/ forgetful.
Sydney C — Google review
The rooftop patio has an incredible view of downtown and the food is excellent. There was a live DJ while we there and despite a normal crowd, the service was very slow. We didn't stay for more than one drink as it was too loud for casual conversation.

Service was quite poor. Several tables had to wave to the server to get him to come to their table, and he forgot numerous things. He seemed more concerned with polishing cutlery than taking orders. We ended up moving to the bar to get better service.

Tooth and Nail Brewing Company, located in Ottawa, has quickly become a top player in the city's craft beer scene. Their traditional beer styles are expertly crafted, offering a range of options from stouts to IPAs. In addition to their regular offerings, they also create small batches of specialty brews for unique experiences. The brewery is housed in a historic industrial space with an inviting taproom atmosphere, making it a popular spot for those seeking exceptional beers in an authentic setting.
I had delicious food and amazing beers here. I would recommend trying the Dunker beer if you visit. Their Mediterranean Veg pizza is next level; I can't recall having anything like it before. This place is a gem, and the staff is super friendly.

8 beers on tap to choose from, with 5oz pours available. As a non fan of IPAS, these IPAs were among the best I've tasted. Their American Brown Ale was supreme. Hands down winner. Ok merch selection and the staff was friendly but not exactly engaging. Decent food menu though I didn't try anything. Overall, you should go.

This is a wonderful brewery with a great selection of delicious beers and a fun small rotating menu. The staff know their beer and are fun to chat with. I always learn something fascinating about the beers they serve when I'm there. I do my best to visit every time I'm in town, but I'm thrilled that my favorite local bar in Kitchener/Waterloo (Arabella Park Beer Bar) regularly carries Tooth and Nail beers so I can enjoy their brews when I'm near home.

A small quaint brewery in a charming location in Westboro. I was lucky to score a place on the patio, but there is also space inside to drink. I opted for a flight and a pint when there. Exile Pale Ale was my personal favorite. They do serve food, but I wasn't there to eat. If I was back in the area I wouldn't hesitate to go back and visit. Staff are fun, easy going and attentive. There isn't parking there so you'll have to find a place on the street.

We are traveling and spent the day in Ottawa. My husband always looks for new brew pubs to try and this was hands down a gem! The beer was great (we took cans to go as well) and the food was very good! Service was great, and the atmosphere was a chill vibe for a Friday afternoon. A must try if in Ottawa!

Irene's Pub Restaurant is a charming gem located in the vibrant Glebe neighborhood of Ottawa, perfect for both locals and visitors seeking a relaxed atmosphere. This long-standing establishment boasts an impressive selection of whisky and regularly features live music that ranges from folk to jazz. The cozy interior, adorned with local artwork and twinkling patio lights during warmer months, creates an inviting space where stories flow as freely as the drinks.
It was blues night on Thursday evening went we went and it was a lot of fun! Great music and lovely to meet the artist afterwards. The place is large enough to accommodate a lot of people comfortably. The food & drinks are super reasonably priced - not a "cheap eats" but not the crazy prices you see everywhere nowadays. I had the sweet potato fries and it was really nice.

A great venue for smaller bands and artists! A little outdated in terms of furniture but the decor is cool. The current art pieces they have all look very nice and add to the music atmosphere. Service is always available and efficient. They are attentive. There are lots of options to choose from but it is your standard pub fare. Check it out if you enjoy music, trivia, and some drinks.

Warm welcome (and that wasn’t just the heat) and we were seated quickly. Tried their Famous Veggie burger and it was the BEST veggie burger I’ve had so far. Although, I don’t think anyone can make it better. Texture, toppings, buns- outrageously good! Others had the poutine and fish and chips -and salad. Also all good options. Dessert was a delectable cake, so good and homemade. Wow! Will be back

A great place for good beer and pub food, but especially great because of the live music! They have great jam sessions as weak as concerts with great energy!

A woman came to my door claiming she was collecting donations for this restaurant’s anniversary. I declined politely, and instead of handling it with professionalism, she turned bitter and snapped “cheap” at me. That was shocking, rude, and absolutely unprofessional. I have no issue with restaurants celebrating milestones or even fundraising, but insulting people for saying no takes it to another level. If this is how they choose to represent themselves in the community, If this person truly represents the restaurant, it speaks volumes about how they value the community and potential customers. Instead of celebrating an anniversary with gratitude toward customers, they’ve sent someone around to guilt-trip strangers and hurl insults. This left me with such a negative impression that I have no interest in ever visiting.

Arrived 30 min before their lunch rush, which was very heavy so in this regard we consider ourselves lucky as they got slammed right at 12. We had a lovely host, then a sweet waitress, our food came out quickly and was plentiful , well plated and delicious! I had their special ginger beef ( a throw back to a childhood favourite). It wasn’t as crunchy as I’d known the dish to be , but was quite good with a depth of flavour. Could have been slightly a bit more sticky and sweet… my partner’s beef jus sandwich, fully loaded, along with a horseradish spread, was amazing served with a hearty Caesar salad. Had we been there right at the rush hour, I might expect our experience might have been different? Just a heads up. I’d go back in a heartbeat though…

We had an incredible experience at The Social in Ottawa. From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was warm, stylish, and inviting — perfect for a night out. The cocktails were absolutely top-notch, balanced with creativity and flavor that made each one feel like its own little masterpiece. The food was just as impressive. Every dish was beautifully plated and bursting with flavor — you can tell there’s a real attention to detail in both presentation and taste. The service was attentive without being overbearing, and the staff made us feel genuinely welcome. If you’re looking for a spot in Ottawa that nails the mix of great food, excellent cocktails, and a lively yet comfortable vibe, The Social is definitely it. We’ll absolutely be back!

My boyfriend and I decided to visit this restaurant for a date night last week, as we hadn’t seen any negative reviews recently. Unfortunately, we were very disappointed with the experience. Upon arrival, we were seated in what seemed to be the lounge area at a small table, away from the main dining room. This seemed to result in a lack of attention from the servers throughout the evening. We started with the scallop and boar belly fritter appetizer. It consisted of three scallops and two very small pieces of boar, something I didn’t expect as it was called a fritter. After waiting quite some time, our mains finally arrived. We knew it had been way too long and so did the servers since they apologized when handing it to us. I ordered the chicken ballotine, which was drenched in sauce and unlike any ballotine I’ve seen before. The sides of spinach and mushrooms were excessively salted, making that part completely inedible. My boyfriend ordered the pork tomahawk. While the meat itself was cooked properly, nothing on the plate was hot—not the pork, the potatoes, or the carrots. Ironically, the plate itself was hot, but the food wasn’t. The ramp pomme purée was bland, and although the chutney was good, there was very little of it. Overall, the presentation was messy and unappealing. My boyfriend works as a chef at a fine dining restaurant, so we fully understand that quality dining often comes with smaller portions and higher prices. However, the quality and execution here did not justify the cost. To make matters worse, the service was inattentive. We were never asked if our food was satisfactory, and there were no check-ins throughout the meal. For over $120, this dinner was a disappointment from start to finish. Unfortunately, we won’t be returning.

Hands down the best meal out I’ve had in a long time! The duck breast and pork tomahawk we ordered were both perfectly prepared and absolutely delicious. The service was outstanding; the entire team worked seamlessly together to serve our group of six. Kieran was fantastic from the moment I called to make the reservation through to serving us at our table. Truly impressive hospitality, food and ambience. Highly recommend.

I coordinated a dinner for a group of 15 people at Social early this October. The dinner was held for VIPs of our company and we went with a prix fixe menu in the upper loft private dining space so we could chat and have a nice, formal dinner for our group. I coordinated everything remotely from Texas and our organizer, Jessica, was great! She made sure to gather all of our details, customize the menu, and be aware of all allergies and intolerances of the group so they could accomodate everyone. The food was excellent! Everyone was happy with the selection that was available and we received plenty of great feedback from our guests on the flavor and execution of all of the dishes. The custom/special drinks from the bar were a hit as well. The service was wonderful. Our server connected with me first to ensure the group was complete and that the timing for the courses was right. We received our drinks soon after our arrival and appreciated the water pitchers on the tables. Across the group we ordered all of the available items and received great feedback on all of them. I personally had the steak frites and while I'd normally want steak sauce, the steak was so flavorful and well-cooked that it definitely didn't need any! Overall we had a great experience at Social!

Spanish restaurant
El Camino is a popular Mexican restaurant in Ottawa, known for its contemporary Mexican dishes and creative cocktails. With two locations in the city's trendy areas, it has become a go-to spot for taco and cocktail enthusiasts. The menu features unique offerings such as ox tongue and tuna tartare crispy tacos. In addition to alcoholic beverages, the restaurant also offers mocktails upon request. The vibrant atmosphere and attentive staff make dining at El Camino a delightful experience for guests looking to enjoy great food and drinks.
Are you serious about tacos? This restaurant is. The restaurant has a very laid back feel, the drinks bar dominates the restaurant. I like that. You should have a margarita or a cervesa with your tacos. There were no issues reserving a table right through the Google maps app. Our table was waiting. The open kitchen lets us peek into the secrets of their delicious food, revealing chefs are having a good time, laughing and preparing food with smiles and comradery, like you would expect from a kitchen proud of their food. The wait staff are fantastic, busy refilling waters, making sure that everything is good and that you have no wants left. But all of this is just an elaborate backdrop to their magnificent arsenal of tacos. I must confess that I can't have more than 5 or 6 in one go... I haven't done the full menu challenge. Each taco having its own distinct characteristics and each bundle brimming with to-die-for contents. As I'm browsing my memories of the food and trying to select the accurate descriptors right now - and it's triggering me to want to go back and eat again. How serious are you about tacos? Because this restaurant is.

Came to Ottawa on a work trip and this was within walking distance to where I was and I was very impressed. The tacos were great. They were a bit busy so I felt like they took a bit longer to arrive but it was worth the wait. The drinks were also good but again it was busy so they did forget one of my drinks in the middle of my dinner. I believe my favourite one was the pig head taco. Amazing. If you see it on the menu - get it. Quite pleased overall with the restaurant as a first timer in the city and was worried that there wouldn’t be great spots but this is a good hidden gem.

Tacos were yummy, we each had 2 and felt it was filling enough along with chips and guac to start. 2 veggie taco options. Pretty pricey for what you get at ~$9/taco, also $16 for guac is very steep. Service was ok. We went on a Thursday night and it was pretty dark and loud.
Fiona H — Google review
Went to El Camino for dinner to celebrate my best friend's birthday, and honestly, it was a good vibe on a Tuesday. We kicked things off with chips and guac, then ordered crispy fish taco and cauliflower taco—both beautifully plated and tasted good. The virgin mojito was fresh and minty (perfect for the birthday girl), and my beer came with a salted rim (too much salt for my liking) and lime. We wrapped it all up with warm churros, coated in cinnamon sugar and served with caramel. Presentation was okay—everything is as expected. The ambiance? Cozy. I loved the carved wall art of horse warriors—so unique and totally photo-worthy. Prices are reasonable for downtown Ottawa: tacos are around $8.50–$9 each, churros at $9, and chips and guac at $16.25. A huge shoutout to our server, Alex—she was quick, attentive, and gave just the right amount of conversation without ever hovering. It wasn’t too loud, the lighting was moody but still okay for photos, and the place had a good energy. Just a heads-up: the chairs are tall, so if you're fun-sized like me, go for a booth.

I like the food here for the most part, I feel a bit bad posting this review. Basically the overall vibe from the staff isn’t good. One individual in particular who looks to be mid 20’s, overweight, wearing a hat that says forever .. I don’t think he could smile if his life depended on it. Terrible customer service -if I owned any type of establishment I would keep this guy as far away from paying customers as possible. My 2nd time here, Initially I was raving to my friends, now I’ll tell them to go to Hugo Taco down the street. People are the essence of your business. Not coming back. Picture of the guy attached

Another little hidden gem in the City. It had a fabulous reputation of being the best Tacos in the city. I was not disappointed. We had a mix of fish and chicken. The guacamole was fabulous and offset the green chili sauce. We didn't venture near the habanero sauce as the green packed a lovely punch. Averaging 9 bucks a Taco, it was a great experience. Servers were very welcoming and responsive. Highly recommended.
Gareth W — Google review
The name of restaurant is not quite easily visible (pic added here) Nice food and ambience however music was too loud to have a regular conversation and some tables are set too close to each other, if that matters to you. They do have indoor and outdoor seating. Vegetarian options available and a lot of tequila based cocktails. Chips and salsa tasted fresh and flavorful overall the food was good.
Chitwan A — Google review
Came here as a recommendation for dinner on my first trip to Ottawa. We overall liked the restaurant, staff was friendly & the food was good. On a Sunday night, it was not super busy but there were enough people that it didn’t feel empty inside. A bit pricy but we also got drinks, and most trendy Mexican restaurants are like this these days. To start, I shared guac & chips - no complaints, we enjoyed and it was very fresh. The added tomatoes were nice. I ordered 3 tacos - the beef barbacoa was fine but the portion of dipping jus was tiny for 3 beef tacos. The best taco for me was the tuna tartare crispy taco. Loved the flavours and the fish was just delicious! My friends had the chicken tacos and said they were spicy but they liked them a lot. However, I did not enjoy the ox tongue taco and didn’t finish it. I ordered it because all the reviews about it were so positive, but I didn’t like how they just put two huge pieces of meat in a taco. It tasted very gamey and I didn’t like the spongy texture either. The piña colada cocktail was yummy - I could taste fresh pineapple and it was very creamy.

Nicely positioned by the Rideau Canal. Great stop during our canal skating. The view of the canal from the inside is amazing! The server was attentive and friendly. The food came very fast. The Ritz burger was good. The meat tasted fresh and homemade. The bread was a but stale. The pizza calabreza tasted like a home made pizza, very saucy and nice portions. Atmosphere is welcoming.

Beautiful scenic views but that’s about it unfortunately! Service was mediocre, food was not good at all. No one from our party finished their food or enjoyed it. I ordered the signature pasta and it was overcooked, starchy, and sticky. Could however be a great place to enjoy drinks and the view on a nice summer day.

Solid solid spot. Would go back anytime. And it was a decent to price for food. They had great options and very unique desserts which is always nice to try. And the scenery is beautiful!!! Right by the Rideau canal and what a stunning view ( there are firefly’s in the area which make it even more stunning). I suspect it’s busy during peak season so may be worth checking to see if you need a reservation but they accommodate walk-ins Definitely a spot that tries to accommodate dietary and special needs.

Had a lovely experience yesterday, but were very confused to be told about extra charges on our bills (gratuity? service charge?) as I had assured my 5 friends that we would not have a service charge added as it would be illegal to do that without informing us in advance. No mention when I reserved, no signs visible, nothing on the menu. Always uncomfortable to find a restaurant unable to follow basic legal requirements - what other rules are they ignoring?

Sadly not vegan friendly - paid $40 for a gluten free pizza with no cheese. Friendly staff though that tried to accommodate.

We had a very disappointing experience. My daughter ordered spaghetti with tomato sauce, and we were surprised to be charged $29 for what was listed as 12$ kids menu — especially considering the lack of flavor. The pizza and salmon we ordered were also bland, and even the fries (which cost $8) had no taste. Talking about service? Really disappointing. Our server was sitting down the entire time and didn’t even bother to check in or ask if we wanted another drink. Meanwhile, another staff member kept staring at us, which made things really awkward and uncomfortable. We will definitely not be going back. Unfortunately, the overall quality of the food did not match the high prices. Would not recommend based on our experience.

Our friends introduced us to this establishment and we were pleasantly surprised. We were able to reserve a table downstairs in The Speakeasy and it was very intriguing indeed. It’s a small and cozy space. The bartender was great with her cocktail creations. You just tell her what you like and she will conjure up a tasty beverage. The food was great as well. I didn’t have their fried chicken which apparently they are known for but the bass that I had was superb! The service was great! The only little gripe I have is that I found it a little too dark for my liking. Restaurant
Soif Bar à Vin, located in Gatineau, Quebec, is a polished wine bar with a romantic ambiance. Owned by the renowned Sommelier Veronique Rivest, it offers an unfussy and casual atmosphere. The menu features global wines and refined small plates. The bar's walls and ceilings are made of cork, adding to its sleek and urban chic vibe. Visitors can enjoy tapas and a selection of natural wines from the bottle shop.
Have been to Soif multiple times and each time is such a treat! A group of us came tonight for a NYE dinner. No nonsense overpriced menus. Just their delicious regular offerings which never disappoint! The food was spectacular, the wine was on point and the service was so attentive and friendly all around. We had a great time and would highly recommend Soif for a romantic date night with your partner or just a night out with friends!

Now this is a great establishment! The menu consists of mainly tapas which are meant to pair with certain wines and the server was very well versed on this. We had four different tapas and they were all exquisite. The Italian and Austrian wines we had were excellent. Though they do offer spirits as well the wines is what you come here for. All in all a fun and pleasant experience. 👍😎

As someone with multiple allergies, Soif Bar à vin was incredible! Not only did our server see my notes in our reservation for allergies but came back with the menu to let me know of the options I could choose from. Additionally they verified everything with the kitchen to make sure I was able to eat it. It is rare that I ever have options on a menu and was able to try multiple things for the first time in my life! The meals were delicious, easy small plates to share and have a bit of everything. I went in for a drink with friends, with little expectation on food and came out with a full belly, a wonderful evening and kind and gracious staff. Will absolutely be coming here more often!

Wonderful little place with a really great and quirky cork theme. I stopped by with two friends to celebrate my birthday. The wine flights were very nice and the charcuterie cheese board had some impressive offerings. Wine flights come in threes but you can’t mix and match). Fantastic overall. Service was first class, our server and his crew were very attentive. We basically had one of everything off the menu (everything is designed to be sharing plates). Charcuterie and cheese was great - a nice selection of cheese produced in Quebec and charcuterie that was a mix of in house and local. We aren't fussy about our wines - but the server gave us a good run down of what to expect with the various glasses we ordered. These were preceded by cocktails and mocktails, which were very well done. Food was mostly great (French onion soup - amazing, probably one of the best I've had ever; fries - shoe string style, my favorite; spaghetti alla chitarra - nice mix of flavours with lardons and mussels), some mid (bread - butter was a bit too salty and bread a bit on the chewy/dry side, but perhaps our opinions were biased as we had the most amazing sourdough earlier that day from a bakery; cauliflower/sunchoke - actually nice texture but we weren't a fan of the smokiness) and one a bit underwhelming (steak - wasn't warm when we were served and the kale imparted a bitterness that we weren't a fan of). Dessert was ++two thumbs up. Chocolate and caramel tartlet was greatly enjoyed! Atmosphere was great - only issue was the cork seats at the high-tops - ok for a short period, but by our second hour our table was taking walks to get off the seats for a few minutes! Will be returning - really enjoyed the overall experience.

What we loved about this place, besides the excellent wine and tasteful playlist, was the quality of the local ingredients. We had the cold cuts and cheese board, the bison tartare, and the cauliflower. It’s a sophisticated but not stuffy spot, perfect for a date night.

I found Soif while doing a search in Eater for restaurants in the area. We were looking for a place to have Valentines Day dinner while in Ottawa for two days. The review was amazing and our experience was even better. The staff was highly attentive and well-knowledgeable on the courses, ingredients, cooking style and wine. We had the prix fixe menu for the evening with premium wine pairings and I’m glad that we chose that. The seating and environment is intimate and I’d highly recommend it for a special occasion or anytime you’d like a great dining experience.

Exceptional experience, exceptional service, exceptional food and wine! The restaurant itself is cosy and comfortable and the staff are super attentive and friendly. The pairings were so good! Each sip was a surprise and the Quebec wines were our favourites. We very much enjoyed the chats with the staff about their choices for us. Very much recommended.

The Vanitea Room, A Tea Salon & Eatery is an elegant spot on Somerset St. offering English-style afternoon tea and brunch. The place is known for its fine loose-leaf teas from around the world and a variety of sweet and savory nibbles presented on tiered trays. You can enjoy delicious treats from various local patisseries and bakeries, including vegan options.
This is a splendid place that makes for a special outing. The decor is pretty and unique. The food was delicious. The tea was great. The menu is fully halal ❤️ and Ghislaine was lovely. Look forward to returning

If you want to feel boujie (not on a budget) this is the place to be. We reserved a table for 4 which came with bottomless mimosas and 3 course set menu, $69 per person including tip. The service was amazing; they accommodated a last minute gluten allergy and my friends were late to the reservation. The server was super understanding and didn’t rush us, so we definitely appreciated all of this. We started with scones (they were tiny - pictured in the cage) with a very modest serving of preserves for 4 people. The second course you could choose one of two options from the set menu, both are pictured. We got 3 eggs Benny at our table and everyone’s poached eggs were hard (we wanted runny yolk, maybe ask for that specifically if that’s what you want as the server didn’t ask). My partner also had a tiny serving of preserves with his meal (as seen in the photo). We asked for more preserves for my partners extra scones that came with his meal and they allowed that- so thank you! Overall we were expecting more bang for our buck. We found that the cost for the amount and quality of food didn’t add up, however the atmosphere and bottomless mimosas was exactly what we needed. We will be returning for the vibes and nibbles but eating a meal elsewhere as the cost for value didn’t make sense.

Dearest gentle reader, it is only right to report that the fare at The Vanitea Room was nothing short of a Bridgerton-worthy feast. Each dish arrived with the kind of elegance that would make even Queen Charlotte raise an approving brow. 👑✨ The cream & lavender latte was smooth and fragrant, with floral notes as delicate as Daphne’s gowns, while the London Fog offered that familiar comfort — like a warm embrace after a waltz. The Turkish eggs were rich and indulgent, their velvety sauce adding layers of flavour that felt every bit as dramatic as a ballroom scandal. And then, the sweets — oh, the sweets! The Heavenly Cream Tea lived up to its name, a luscious blend of cream and indulgence that demanded centre stage. The dessert platters sparkled with variety: dainty pastries, chocolates, and treats that looked like they’d been plucked from a royal banquet. Each bite was refined, decadent, and impossible to resist. The Vanitea Room didn’t just serve food: it staged a Regency-era fantasy, complete with the kind of staff whose warmth and grace made us feel like esteemed guests of the ton. For those seeking high tea with flavour as dramatic as a Bridgerton plot twist, this is the address. 💌 To hear more about this review, follow us @eatinontario on Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, & Facebook. ✨🤩🙏

Came for a visit as a trio to give brunch a try. It has been since before the pandemic that I came here for brunch. Not much has changed, and that was very pleasant. The decor atmosphere are simply fantastic. The space has a really great vibe. We each tried a different dish and I have to say they were all quite solid. The shakshuka was an interesting trust using greens instead of tomatoes. The only real complaint I have is that the drinks seemed a little watered down but maybe I was off this morning. If you come, give some of the more extravagant offerings a try. You owe it to yourself to splurge a bit

What a beautiful experience Vanitea Room is. My daughters and I enjoyed a Sunday brunch in amongst what felt like a step into a space away from daily life. We enjoyed a fantastic meal filled with flavour and the most amazing home baked bread. The music was spot on A nostalgic 90’s vibe. Excellent service
Joules02 — Google review
While the service was great! The deserts for the afternoon tea were evidently all purchased from the grocery store down the street and had a flower placed on top to make it more presentable. The store bought muffins, two bite brownie, and slice of a sheet cake were not what I was expected when paying over $50 for afternoon tea. I would also not recommend going in the summer with the located having only a few fans to combat the no AC.
Cassidy L — Google review
Service was polite and lovely however the food wasn’t very good. The eggs were rubbery, and the potatoes were small and almost too chewy/hard. The bread was very thinly sliced and toasted too much for the thinness of it. I like the decor but it’s not reason enough to go back.
Maya — Google review
Went for a drag brunch and have very mixed reviews, despite a wonderful Queen and very warm front of house staff. My review is based on the food, value and overall experience, which regrettably did not live up to the excitement I had while booking. I’ll sing the praise first. The Queen we had for this drag brunch was stunning. So beautiful and entertaining, despite being the only host. I don’t believe this was the plan - it was mentioned that another Queen had cancelled last minute, which was a little disappointing. It would have been nice to see the banter and dynamics of a duo, which is what we had anticipated. The wait staff was also very warm and genuinely seemed happy to be present. Our disappointment stemmed from the food and timing of the event. The drag brunch was scheduled for 11:30 am, so naturally we arrived slightly early and were seated and delivered drinks right away. The drag brunch is a set menu, which is understandable from a service perspective, but unfortunate if you don’t like what is being offered. This was the case for us. This could have been the normal procedure of the event (this was my first time going so I’m not sure) but it took 45 minutes for any table to receive food. When we received ours most items were cold including a potato hash, while the mini waffles were also quite soggy and underwhelming. What would have been considered the staple of the meal, kidney beans on toast, was almost indelible for me. In addition to the breakfast, I ordered a coffee, which is not included in the meal. Unfortunately the last swig of my coffee was nothing but grounds. Although this was very evident by the teaspoon of grounds left in my cup and all over the saucer, the waitstaff did not acknowledge this, offer a new coffee or offer to take the item off our bill. Nothing in the brunch felt or tasted luxury and sadly, myself and company left more than half the food behind. The drag performance was a welcome distraction from the food, although this part of the event started at 12:30 - 12:45 pm, which meant that the entertainment portion of the brunch lasted less than an hour. In short, we left brunch pretty hungry and very underwhelmed considering the experience cost us more than $200 for two people. I wouldn’t return to this establishment, despite the few good workers we encountered. Sadly, I would recommend anyone else considering a high end brunch to look elsewhere too.

Tapas bar
Nestled in the vibrant Hintonburg neighborhood, Bar Laurel is a delightful homage to Spanish culinary traditions. Drawing inspiration from the renowned Calle del Laurel in Logrono, this cozy yet stylish bar offers an array of small plates that celebrate the flavors of Spain's Basque country and Rioja region. Guests can indulge in a variety of pintxos and tapas, featuring seasonal vegetables grilled over charcoal, succulent secreto iberico, and perfectly cooked ribeye and chicken from their wood-fired oven.
The food here is delicious. The service outstanding. The layout...allows for good conversation while at the same time it is very alive and people who go there can enjoy a party like atmosphere. My second time there was just as enjoyable as my first. If you like lamb...the lamb dish there is melt in your mouth great! The sardines spectacular.

First, what I liked: -The restaurant was cozy, well decorated, and clean -The server was attentive and enthusiastic about the food -Good COVID safety measures Sadly I didn’t enjoy the food that much. The flavours didn’t strike me as positively memorable. Some of the dishes were too sour. I know it’s supposed to be small, shared plates, but we ordered 6 plates which came to over 110$ and we still weren’t full. If you come here be prepared to see some very small servings for 15-20+$ a plate.

Spanish-influenced fare with plenty of seafood and pork. Tapas and larger plate options, creative cocktails. The Mule 2.0 is a must-try! Cozy space, but a little loud when there are other larger groups there. Have been a few times, and will be back :)

Tapa styled dining experience, the food was quite good but there were dishes that were underwhelming. My favourite dish was actually the salted almonds (more of a snack item I suppose). I really enjoyed the cocktail I ordered, I believe it is their take on the Moscow Mule.

I learned more about wine in one night then i have in my entire life. Huge thanks to our server Kenzie for an incredible night. This was a 10/10 night, but she made it a 15/10 (if that's possible). My wife and i go out for dinner every Friday, and this was such a fun night. The 2nd best part of the night (besides Kenzie), was the lamb....wow! Easily the best lamb (or piece of meat) i have ever had in my life (or my wife's). I have no idea how they did it, but incredible. Charcuterie was delicious and gorgeous (yes, we love a pretty board!). All the food was amazing, good job bar Laurel. The cocktails were nothing short of spectacular as well. I know we had the Mule, something with Ginger Beer and 2 other which were foggy :)

Atari Garden, formerly known as Atari, has undergone a complete transformation into a lush and enchanting venue. The rooftop terrace is adorned with floral and greenery decor, offering a mix of dark and intimate interior dining space. This funky spot serves comfort snacks, make-your-own tartars, and an array of signature cocktails with creative names.
Great little date night spot. It's a sharing type restaurant where you order 4-5 plates and share. We got a variety of stuff. The Brussels sprouts and the smash burger were our favorite. The service was VERY VERY good. Will definitely be back.

My #1 date spot in Ottawa - although you'll pay for it! The drinks are beautiful, the food is delicious and well presented, portions aren't the biggest, but at least you won't be bloated on your date. It's just expensive enough that it won't be a regular spot for me. For this hidden gem they don't rely much on foot traffic, so if you want a good table for you and that special someone get a reservation!

I’ve only ever been here for drinks, but I came for food once and I realized it was absolutely delicious, and very decently priced. We came for lunch, and even though it was a rainy day without a lot of customers, the service was fast and the servers were very friendly.

Amazing patio, great burger but for the price having to pay extra to included a side of fries was a nuisance. The truffle fries that we added on were very good but only tasted of the parmesan that covered the fries, no taste of truffle. The fried chicken was bland, but the "glaze" that comes with it was amazing! The drinks list is long and varied, a little something for almost everyone. Staff super friendly and helpful.
LK V — Google review
Food was fantastic, atmosphere was great. The waitress was amazing. With that said, this was not the experience I was expecting. Based on the previous reviews, their website and pictures I found online, I was expecting a video game themed cocktail bar with some bar foods available. I found their menu on their website and decided it would be a good place for my wife and I to go. When we got there, it was a high-end tapas and cocktail bar. The name appears to have changed from "Atari" to "Atari Garden" and it is themed around a garden now instead of video games. We spent around $100 for 4 plates of food, which turned out to be a light dinner for the two of us. The price isn't actually that bad considering the quality of the food we received, but it was unexpected based on the previous version of the restaurant and the menu they have posted online. I took a few pictures of their current menu, since their website hasn't been updated yet. Unfortunately, the food menu came out pretty blurry. When looking at the menu, you should consider that each person will need 2 or 3 dishes for a full meal. Overall a great experience, even if a bit unexpected.

Ambiance: great roof top located in the heart of downtown. The music is nice and the ambiance is lovely. Food: What a disappointment. Ended up getting the burger and the patty was so dry that the gravy that accompanies could not even salvage it. Will definitely think twice before ordering that again

Great great spot for a get together or just to enjoy the ambience. We were on the rooftop and it was lovely. Hubby and I felt super fashionable . Classy place— not just because we were there— or maybe despite us being there lol. I’ve knocked off a star because we ordered the chips and guacamole 🥑 and it was delicious but … not nearly enough chips for the guacamole!! Chips were home made, though, what a treat. Sorry no photo as we scarfed them down before we thought to take a photo 🫢

Notable street
Bank Street, located in the Centretown section of Ottawa, is a bustling hub known for its diverse array of businesses and vibrant atmosphere. It is home to Ottawa's 2SLGBTQ+ Village and offers a wide range of dining options, including patios at some establishments. Despite ongoing construction, taking a stroll along Bank Street is an enjoyable experience with its mix of shops and restaurants. The street's lively ambiance draws crowds, especially during events like the first day of spring.

Bank Street is a very busy street. There is a lot to offer and way too much construction at this time. But Bank Street is worth taking a walk...by yourself, a friend or just taking your dog for a walk. By the way, there is not much parking, so bus or walking is preferred. Enjoy!

My fiancé and I spent a weekend at the Hard Rock Casino and Hotel. What a wonderful experience. The rooms are beautiful and the casino is kept so clean with amazing service from all team members. One team member in particular stood out. Annie is one of the food and beverage servers on the casino floor and she is amazing! She was so welcoming and friendly, and she always made a point of coming over to check in on us. She even remembered us by name and followed up on how our visit was going! What a wonderful touch she added to an already great experience. We will definitely be back and will look for Annie to say hi!

My spouse and I have visited Hard Rock several times Here is the good $ not so good! The hotel rooms are very clean and comfortable however the hotel itself should have a separate entrance & guests should be allowed to bring beverages to their rooms. On several occasions we noticed the bar was out of draft beer. Very recently we tried to have breakfast at the Hard Rock Cafe and we were told that there was no availability until lunch time Very disappointed because it wasn’t busy @ all

My wife and I came here to celebrate our anniversary, and we definitely weren’t disappointed. The food was fantastic, the atmosphere was great, and the place itself looks amazing. We tried a few of the drinks on the menu too, and they were all delicious. What really stood out to me was the unity desk staff. I was helped by Sam, who went above and beyond. She explained the perks of getting the card, gave us some great food recommendations (which ended up being perfect), and was so friendly and upbeat the entire time. She took her time with us, answered all our questions, and even congratulated us on our anniversary, which was such a nice touch. The only downside was the construction noise, but that’s obviously temporary. We’ll definitely be coming back once everything is fully open.

Disappointing Experience at Hard Rock Casino Ottawa I purchased four tickets when they first came out to see Jason Bonham at the Hard Rock Casino Ottawa. Unfortunately, my two sons were denied entry at the door because the event was classified as 19+, which was never indicated during the ticket purchase process. Unlike other shows such as Nate Smith 19+ or Johnny Reid, there was no visible 19+ label on the ticket or event listing. This lack of clear communication is misleading and feels deceptive. As a result, I lost nearly $400 due to poor management and inaccurate information on the casino’s entertainment page. For a new venue, it’s disappointing that there’s been little consideration for younger audiences. A separate entrance or designated area for underage attendees—similar to what’s offered at the Hull Casino—would be a more inclusive solution. Additionally, our dining experience before the show was underwhelming. The restaurant does not accept reservations, and we were directed to a cafeteria-style food court where we ordered from a touchscreen panel, much like a fast-food chain. The overall experience was basic and did not meet the standards I’ve come to expect from other Hard Rock locations. I hope this feedback is taken seriously, as it reflects a need for better organization, clearer communication, and improved customer service. Sincerely, Mike Portugaise

What a mistake going to this casino. Horrible place. Games are good, but not a HUGE choice. Lots of the same game. Smaller room then it was before. Was told for resturant to just show up, wait time was 2.5 hours at 7:30 on a sat night ( normal over all ) however there was over 25 seats available and clean to sit at but wasnt allowed to use them. Then went to the food court type area. Went to order and was told had to go back out and order on the main floor kiosk. Was no option to put notes in to notify of allergies or items you didnt want on the food. The food took 30+ minutes to get ( we ordered swarma and Tablouleh) the food was not great. The tablouleh was horrible. Dry, no taste and no acidity in site. I found a 1.5 inch piece of wood stick in the middle of my skewer that they meglected to remove. When I asked for a manager to discuss, the floor person sent me to the desk where I was then told to go back to the kitchen area and ask for a person. She did refund for the meal but offered nothing else. Like you would expect in a casino, free tea/coffee and soda was not available. $5 for a pepsi is crazy. Would much rather got Lac Lemay in hull/gatineau. Table games are $50 per hand for Blackjack and all single shoe card shufflers. 3 card poker was $25 to get cards and $75 total to play a hand. They only have 10 tables total. The one nice thing is the smoking area does have slots which is nice if you are a smoker. The place is VERY loud, the bands that were playing were OK but def not professionals, more like karaoke singers backs by a band. I wouldnt waste my time going again. Would just goto Lac Lemay instead. Free non alcoholic drinks, the food is amazing, not as noisy WAY more tabe games, poker room and slots. The bands are amazing and food is great.

Bunch of friends celebrating birthdays Started in the bar lounge area watching sports with drinks and eventually food. Atmosphere was great, well lit and decor and set up was great. Getting drinks from the bar took time. I guess one bartender for a few servers. Food was great, chicken wings were awesome, ribs were delicious, the fajitas beef/chicken were also yummy. My nachos were great. However, they need to use less salty chips. Way too salty. Dessert was also yummy. Cheesecake and brownies with ice cream and whip cream were really delicious. Gaming was fun. Distance wise was a tad far. Overall had a great time. Will be back

These guys are gonna have to do better. Game 7 of the World Series the casino was jammed and vibe was great. But early on in the game, the satellite feed for the World Series died and that was pretty well it . On top of that, we waited an hour and 10 minutes for service in the bar area and no one came. So we just left . I had to get my own drinks from the bar and never did order a meal. Nor did we stay to gamble after as we had planned. Very disappointed for her first impression.

Visitors can enjoy their patio on sunny days while savoring a beer and munching on sandwiches. The brewery started with two friends experimenting with beer-making in their basement in 2012 and has since grown to have its own brewery and tasting room in the Hintonburg neighborhood. The beers are known for their quirky names that make them memorable long after you've left.

The staff is the nicest. The hostess are very sweet and kind they let you pick if you prefer to sit somewhere specific. The servers are also very kind genuine and check up on you but not bother you too much. Special thanks to the girl who was wearing sparkle eyeshadow and loose curls on jul-19 she made my birthday extra special. Food- we tried crispy cauliflower and they were kind to bring Tabasco to fulfil my spicy palette. Drinks- we had lavender Lemonade it was not sour at all, perfectly balanced taste. The vibe of the place is 10/10, staff is 20/10 definitely going back again! Oh and the best part they don’t close the kitchen early their kitchen is open till 12 midnight I believe so you can get drinks first and food later if you please.

Drink prices were good. The bar seems to be full of regulars, the server behind the bar made us feel more like a nuisance than customers. Seats at the bar reserved for people who never sat in them despite the place being packed, asked to order drinks and ignored right off the bat. Probably not a place for tourists and more so for locals/regular visitors. Was a queer friendly space tho.

The Elgin Beer Project is a vibrant gem located in the heart of Ottawa, perfect for both beer aficionados and casual visitors. This lively establishment features an inviting outdoor patio where you can enjoy tastings of their unique home-brewed beverages, ideal for those warm spring and summer days. The menu offers a delightful array of budget-friendly snacks and sharing plates that complement their impressive selection of craft beers.
Loved the place, the beer and the snacks. Not much food options but whatever snacks we ordered were excellent. I loved their collections of local beers. We tried Starydog summer slam and Cameron's mimosa both were good. Can't wait to try more beers. And last but not least, the server was really very kind.

If you’re looking for a casual, low-key place for a brew and a snack, then this is it. It’s a very cozy beer spot at a great location. The beer selection is excellent, and their takeout beer prices are great too. Our server was extremely sweet, too.

Good dogs, great beer selection and super friendly staff. Only small downside, the draft beer could be a little colder but heck beer is beer and it's just a nice place to be at!
M. B — Google review
The place is nice and supports local breweries. We ordered the corn dog, the salad and the burger. The salad was ok nothing crazy and the price was resizable but the portion is small. The burger was good the fries were a bit soggy and the corn dog was good. The service was good.

Recent visit from a pair of locals, crafts seltzers were delish on a cold day and very happy to sit on the patio and watch the Olympics. Great selection, great location, and really good prices (especially during happy hour).

Amazing place to chill on weekends. Located right at the most crowded corner in Ottawa. Closed at 2am on Friday. Great service and good vibe. I love it. P/S:a little minus is that just don’t order the meatball

Amazing staff service and atmosphere. Its a limited menu of food but UNLIMITED menu of beer. Amazing spot and the bartender and manager are 2 of the best on Elgin!

Restaurant with delicious food and casual, friendly atmosphere. Came here for a weekend meal with friends and loved it. There was a nice outdoor seating area, the service was prompt, menu had good variety, food was served quickly and was very tasteful. Waitress was made great suggestions for drink to pair with the meal.

Located at 104 Clarence Street, The Show Ottawa is a popular high-energy hangout known for its dance floor, bottle service, ladies' nights, and lively DJ sets. It has gained popularity among students from uOttawa and Carleton universities, particularly fraternities and sororities. Despite some mixed reviews about the music and entry fees being cash-only, it remains a favorite spot for weekend outings in downtown Ottawa.
The Show Ottawa – A Time Machine Night Out After a perfect dinner at Sussex & Co., my wife and I felt like taking a trip down memory lane and hitting a club—just like we used to. We ended up at The Show Ottawa, fully aware it's more of a 25-and-under scene. But we figured, why not? From the moment we got carded (yes, even me!), we knew it was going to be a fun night. The music was unreal—like stepping into a time machine. Classic tracks from our era, all with a modern twist. It was nostalgia on full blast. The crowd was full of energy, and even though we were probably double everyone else's age in there, we embraced it. We danced, we laughed, and we soaked it all in. Would we go again? Probably not—but only because we were clearly the outliers age-wise. Still, it was an absolute blast to relive that party vibe for a night. Perfect for the young (or young at heart) looking to let loose.

Absolutely terrible experience at The Show. I went with my friends for a night out and ended up being yelled at and kicked out for no reason. I was simply checking my makeup in the washroom when a guy lit a cigarette nearby. Security came (rightfully) to remove him, but then turned on me too — even though I had nothing to do with it. One of the guards started screaming at me like crazy for just being in the same room. When my friends tried to step in and asked him to speak to me respectfully, he physically pushed one of them. Things escalated and we were all kicked out, even though we paid to get in and did absolutely nothing wrong. This was humiliating, aggressive, and completely unprofessional. I’ve never been treated like that in any other venue. Avoid this place unless you’re okay with being disrespected and thrown out for no reason !!!
Amir R — Google review
Really really disrespectful staff, forces you to coat check a sweater. Very insulting and rude tone at all times from the front end staff. My friend was clearly targeted as upon entering the club many people were wearing legit jackets but she was forced to coat check her sweater as a Muslim woman trying to dress Modestly. Security begging for 5 star reviews at the door, pretty sad…. We hadn’t gone in years it’s all children at this club now so if you are over the age of like 22 I recommend going elsewhere.
Amanda T — Google review
The DJ this night was unreal - I was just at Escapade and this guy was wayyy better - Club had pretty quick service for how busy it was and the fog machine there was a blast
Mark W — Google review
They deleted my last review where I explained that my buddy’s son worked for them and how poorly and disgusting it’s ran. During their “rush” hour they barely clean the glassware and sometimes don’t give it more the a quick rinse after each customers use. Very unsanitary and definitely unsafe too as the security are told to do what ever they want. Very dodgy place be advised they will probably delete this review aswelll
Brandon K — Google review
Absolutely awful experience. We were blatantly ripped off — ordered two gin and tonics that had no trace of gin whatsoever, confirmed by multiple people in our group. When we brought it up, the waitress and a blond guy behind the bar insisted (with a straight face) that the drinks were fine and kept arguing. Completely dishonest. On top of that, the service was rude and the atmosphere was dead — not a single person was dancing. Also, the place smells like urine. Avoid this place.
Herman K — Google review
Let’s get this straight: this is a so-called “student nightclub” conveniently tucked beside a shawarma shop, but the owner acts like it’s some high-end rooftop lounge in Manhattan. From the second you show up, you’re hit with rules that sound like they were written by someone who’s never met a student in their life. No jeans, no athletic wear, no winter boots in Ottawa. In winter. At a student club. Because apparently, nothing says “party” like having to dress like you’re attending a wedding just to get past the door. And don’t you dare wear baggy jeans . You’ll get turned away faster than someone with a fake ID. It’s clear the goal here isn’t to make the place fun or accessible it’s to pretend it’s something it’s not. But let’s move on to the real issue: the bouncers. Not only are they rude and aggressive, they’re dangerously untrained. One of my friends got choked yes, physically choked — by a bouncer simply because we refused to leave without grabbing a backpack that had his passport and all his money inside. We weren’t being loud, violent, or disrespectful, we were very understanding as we got kicked out because some random dude was smoking in the washroom, bouncer kicked all of us, and we honestly were understanding considering how serious that was . We were just trying to collect our belongings as we were leaving either way . That kind of behavior goes way past unprofessional it’s assault. My friend was left with bruises all over his upper body, And the worst part? The staff stood around and did absolutely nothing. No apology, no explanation, not even a basic check to see if he was okay. It’s obvious this place doesn’t care about safety just control. Then there’s the bartending team, who’ve mastered the fine art of sneaking tips into your bill without saying a word. They won’t ask if you want to tip. They’ll just add it. Automatically. Like you owe them a reward for showing up. Meanwhile, you wait forever for a watered down drink while they pretend they’re doing you a favor. Honestly, the most energy they put into anything is collecting that automatic 18%. And let’s not forget the weirdest policy of all no one over 25 allowed. Why? Because they know the second an actual adult walks in and sees the chaos, they’ll call it out or more likely knock down one of their bouncers . It’s not about keeping a “student vibe.” It’s about keeping out anyone mature enough to realize the entire operation is a scam with a sound system. I am not the only person that had wrote these reviews and I do not expect anyone in the establishment to do anything about it, as the owner himself has no moral ground, considering none of their staff got fired after the shit ton of reviews they get against them This club is all smoke and mirrors: strict rules, aggressive staff, fake luxury energy all sitting next to a shawarma place like that somehow makes it part of the nightlife elite. The reality? It’s just an overpriced, badly managed, power-tripping bar where students get disrespected, assaulted, and scammed. Save your time, your money, and your safety. Go anywhere else. Heck, even just staying at the shawarma spot for the night would be a better experience and you’d probably get treated with more basic human decency
Youcef B — Google review
Security guard is very rude. While I was in line, I asked him why police officers were leaving the club and he told me to mind my own business and to stop asking questions if I wanted to get in. I did not after that experience, so we left.

Happy Fish Elgin is a great spot with an affordable entrance fee and a good location. The DJ plays oldies for an extended time, allowing guests to dance almost the whole song. While there's no drink menu, the drink selection is good. Despite slow service at the bar during busy times like Bluesfest, it offers a cool vibe overall with a spacious patio and dance floor.
Great value for so much food!! Really loved the cauliflower bites - they were crunchy and had the perfect batter. The tacos were also very delicious and really enjoyed the fully loaded salad!! Lots of great toppings with the salad made it fulfilling and delicious.

Came to the fish last weekend. Exceptional service by the Cassandra, better than any ottawa place. She’s the bomb she IS HER. I’m gay and she made me feel really welcome such a welcoming atmosphere. She’s also so gorgeous definitely nice seeing a pretty face. All workers attractive. Good hiring. Keep it up. Atmosphere eh 3/10 kind of dark good for someone like me would return

I payed cover early in the night only for them to deny me to the patio because “people with bottle service get priority” even when I’ve been waiting from 9-11. I don’t think a bar should charge $10 cover when they deny you access to the main attraction of their venue. Music has never been enjoyable, food is mediocre and I will never come back.
Adrian V — Google review
Great service, I went there to meet up with friends. The staff is great and the drinks are priced fairly. The place also fills up quick when it starts getting busy.
Jared S — Google review
Went here last night, had a really fun time. The service was a little bit slow at the bar, but I'll give that a pass as with it being Bluesfest, I was not surprised that they got slammed. The drink selection was good, liked the dance floor and the patio was spacious. It was a cool vibe overall. Would definitely come back here.

One of the most unethical places. Challenging my faith in humanity after going here. Paid entry at door and approached bathroom, just for security to DENY us access to the bathroom? Was then belittled by staff for inquiring of the legalities pertaining to denying access to customers, and furthermore requiring us to pay an ADDITIONAL FEE TO USE THE BATHROOM!!!! Staff replied “what are you going to do, take it to court?” while laughing. I hope this place gets shut down - the most abominable scene I’ve been to in Ottawa. Where are your morals people ? Sky Lounge is a popular night club in Ottawa known for its lively atmosphere and great experiences. Despite some minor issues like the lack of coat check, it offers reasonably priced drinks and prompt service. The venue is spacious and suitable for hosting events, as evidenced by the fun Canada's Drag Race Season 4 Premiere Viewing Party. While some patrons found the drinks to be a bit overpriced, others appreciated the affordable prices and excellent customer service with reliable security.
Went here for Halloween, and honestly, best night ever. The whole vibe was fire everyone was just there to have a good time, no weird energy. I ended up dancing with strangers, making random friends, and the crowd was super friendly, especially the guys, which made it even more chill. Music was on point, and the whole place just felt alive
Ravi P — Google review
Sky Lounge is amazing as a bar, but not really a club in the traditional sense. It’s super cute inside — from the mirrors at the entrance to the playful themed decor and themes (like bunny ears and cozy lighting). Everything is well-maintained and clean. It’s best for group nights out, birthdays, or special occasions where you want drinks, cute photos, and a nice setup with your friends — not necessarily high-energy clubbing. It’s also a great starting point if your bar/club hopping downtown. However, when there’s a big event or it gets really packed, the energy can be amazing — lots of good vibes and people dancing! Plus, the view over ByWard Market from the windows is gorgeous, especially at night. The dance floor being packed doesn’t always happen. Tips: • Great for birthdays or chill celebrations • The music is more background unless it’s a special event night • the view over by ward market is really nice

Honestly it’s nothing special. Although we possibly may of been there a slow night. Some of the decorations are nice however not much dancing happened.
Stacy M — Google review
I don't understand why it's always been empty every single time I've been there. The employees are very nice and welcoming, the entry fee isn't that expensive. But the shooters are nearly 8.25$ each. Maybe a top notch DJ would do the trick
Diane L — Google review
Omg I hadn’t been out in a long time. It was the best after party escapade ever had. The service team gave it 110%. I appreciate you all. Your hard work doesn’t go unnoticed

I had a really disappointing experience. The drinks tasted watered down, I ORDER TEQUILA SHOTS AND THIS WAS SO WATERY there was barely any alcohol in them. The space was way too cramped—there was hardly anywhere to move and it felt chaotic with people constantly bumping into each other. The atmosphere just wasn’t enjoyable, and the bartenders were not attentive at all. Overall, it wasn’t a good night, and wouldn't recommend.we just keep buying until I realized they were watered down even the shots. We stayed only because we payed this much to enter but coming to final hour we just moved to another location near by ALSO SAW PERSONS THAT WERE IN THIS PLACE AT THE NEW PLACE WE WENT AND ordered drinks at this new location totally different And I ordered the same thing to see is this was for real .WATER DRINKS!
Nona S — Google review
Attended Kiki Coe and Aimee Yonce Shennel's Canada's Drag Race Season 4 Premiere Viewing Party here and it turned out to be a fun event. This was my first time and I found the bar to be quite spacious. The drinks were kind of rip-off. Mini glass full of ice cubes and then 4-5 drops of the actual drink; in my case it was Coca-Cola... I mean c'mon! I think the place is great for hosting events.

Berlin Nightclub is a popular spot in Ottawa, known for its three-room setup and top-notch musical programming. The club offers different music on each floor, making it easy to find the right vibe for your night out. With a larger dance floor and a second level, Berlin provides an energetic atmosphere for dancing and socializing. While some guests have noted the need for better air conditioning, many appreciate the great music and talented DJs.
One of the best Night club in Ottawa. Staff is friendly and welcoming. If you are looking for good vibes - this is place to be. Every weekend new djs and different music vibes. I love Berlin for 3 floors. They are running events on 3 floors which is crazy. Mostly you could find the bass stage in the basement floor - Underground House and lounge vibes in the middle floor - Krusch And main floor - Techno, House, Edm, Top40, etc - Berlin

The place is not as it appears in the pictures and videos. Everything is different. It is just a small corridor that accommodates only ten people. There is no air conditioning. The service is good, but this place differs from what appears in the pictures.

I have no idea what it's like as a dance club, but they shouldn't be putting themselves out there as a performance venue. While they have the equipment, they have no clue how to use it. The performance I saw was totally unlit, leaving the performers in the dark ... until someone turned on the emergency lights. And it's puny. Like performing in a closet. The serving staff were good though, so it wasn't a total wash

Buy a freaking fan. Jesus Christ. It was about 45C on the dance floor and not a single fan in sight. Dangerous and uncomfortable (and not a one off). I keep trying to have fun here because of the legacy of Mercury lounge but it’s just ridiculous.

Attended a Camo Sessions event there this past Saturday and it was A M A Z I N G !! Incredible musical talent (both the local DJs and out of town acts) kept the dancefloor packed all night! Plus friendly staff and attentive bar service; thanks for another awesome night out!
Mike A — Google review
I used to go here a lot when the venue was known as Mercury Lounge, so the stars harken back to those times (I would have rated it higher then). The upper dance floor seems to have had very little work/improvement done to it since it was previously Mercury Lounge. Ventilation is a major issue and the space becomes uncomfortably hot. There are broken ceiling fans and others which barely turn at all. They really need to add more ceiling fans for the safety and comfort of their guests, and probably also upgrade the AC, and perhaps also add some extractor unit at the top of the building to ventilate hot air out… People appeared to be on the verge of passing out when up on the topmost level. There is an open space now on the second floor but the music was way too loud for the number of people that were there. The stairs approaching this space still have the same tangled and dusty light fixture from ages ago 😅A piece of printer paper announces the space as “Krüsch” and describes it as “Intimate | Opulent | Seductive”. The owner ought to invest money in the safety and upkeep of this property.
Charles H — Google review
Played un-danceable music, was very small and compact for a fun dance space. It was not a good vibe. I recommend finding elsewhere if you're looking for a good fun dance night.

not at all what i was expecting from 5th year parties’ jungle rave afterparty; $40 a ticket for monotone ‘untz untz’ techno music and very unwelcoming younger clientele who got someone in my group kicked out within the first five minutes of us being there—claiming they had fallen over multiple times which was not true (i was watching closely solely for the potential of this!!)—so we went to the lookout instead and had a way better time. idk if it’s because most of us were openly queer or what, but i unfortunately won’t be returning in fear of being judged and unwelcome again at this club :(

Renowned for hosting talented DJs and live bands, The Palace creates an unforgettable experience that keeps the energy high well into the night.
The palace is where I newly went, and I am here to really encourage you to do the same. The vibe in there is nice! The place has a great sound system, and the DJ mixes perfectly everything. A lot of those drinks & great bottle menu. The DJ managed to keep the audience dancing for the entire night. Everyone was friendly and helpful as well. I had so much fun, and I just feel like all of you, who want to enjoy the evening, should visit!
Jules S — Google review
Omg! What's going on, Palace? You guys need to upgrade your vibe. This used to be my go-to, but recently, I've been there 3 times in the last 3 months and have been disappointed every time. Saturday night, 08/16, the DJ sucked and we paid $22 for that crap. I have to find another place with better fun/vibes. Reviewers, any recommendations?
Marty B — Google review
Came here with a friend on new year's eve and we were not impressed. We bought tickets online and waited in line outside the venue for 45 minutes while it was cold and drizzling rain. This was the same line for people who were waiting to buy tickets at the door. Bouncers were telling people that they could bypass the line if they had VIP tickets or pay $100 to skip the line. I explicitly told them that, it was wild of them to charge a ridiculous amount to skip the line. One of the bouncers kind of shrugged and said that's how they make money on busy nights like NYE. What a way to exploit people and demotivate them from coming back again.. The coat check staff and bartenders were nice though. The DJ was all over the place with the music. He would play 1 song within a genre and then the next song would be a completely different genre. The transitions between the songs were awful. You would be dancing a certain type of way and then be stopped in your track because the DJ stopped the beat and transitioned into something completely different. It was hard to move throughout the space as the dancefloor was awkwardly formatted. After trying to make the most of NYE, we left 2 hours later. Would not recommend coming here.
Harjeenna S — Google review
Watched Ruger perform here. And the party after was mad. The DJ had all the afrobeat jams on queue. Mad fun. Ain't no party like a 9ja party.
Oshio A — Google review
The wait staff were great, I didn't have to line up much. Problems are the door price - usually $20 to $50, or more. The bigger problem is they force you to coat check - $4 depending on the night. This is a problem for several reasons: if it's a part of your outfit, it should not be considered outerwear; you should not expect everyone to be warm enough; the garment could be a luxury item opening you to libel; stops anyone from taking a smoke break which is technically illegal; and your staff hate this rule and everyone told me it's a rule of "the stupid owner." Listen to your staff, not doing so is why nightclubs fail in byward. Coat check alone means I won't be back. Aside from that the entry is so small that any sort of movement is a nightmare. Music was ok but some artists went off script.
Joel K — Google review
Disappointing experience at The Palace Nightclub. The ratio was about 30 guys to 3 girls, which created an awkward atmosphere. To make matters worse, the DJ kept cutting the music, disrupting the vibe.
Mohamed E — Google review
Terrible venue. My boyfriend and I wasted $300 on “VIP” tickets for Ruger and watered down drinks. The vibe was terrible, the vodka was definitely not 40% alcohol, it was disorganized and chaotic, and I couldn’t even see the performance from upstairs because of how packed it was. They oversold tickets and severely underperformed. We didn’t stay for the “after party” because the vibe was dead and too many people were smoking weed inside. My boyfriend drove all the way from southwestern Ontario just to see Ruger with me at this wack venue. What a waste of time. We were incredibly disappointed. Another weird experience happened here—I’m white, and the staff oddly made me coatcheck my thin coat but let several Black people behind me walk past without doing the same. They then let me have the coat back after my Black boyfriend asked. I understand it’s a Black-centric space, but it’s strange to treat me differently because of my race. I wouldn’t go back, and neither would my boyfriend. It’s sad because Palace seems to be the main venue that Black artists visit while in Ottawa, and we would like to support them if we could, but we could never justify going back here.
Elizabeth S — Google review

Tequila Jacks in Ottawa is a vibrant nightclub known for its high-energy environment and party-centric crowd. It's a favorite among the university crowd and young professionals, offering theme nights, drink specials, and VIP bottle service. The club features a bar, DJs, several risers for dancing, and even spots to chill on the balcony. While the music may not be top-notch, it's still enjoyable with an atmosphere that attracts a younger crowd looking to have a good time.
I'm spending my hollidays in Canada and my first night out in Ottowa , i went ther. That's because my uber driver suggested me to go and I was by myself on a family trip here . I had a great time there ,the music is not excellent but it's good, you will find girls of 18-22. 45 minutos after i went inside i was drinkin on the bar, invited a drink to a very good looking girl and she kissed me, so if you are New and just want to chill go to that place. My night was about $120. And there's a random old lady sellig horrible flowers, I invited to a drink..

Great place for a guy if you want 40 year old roid rage losers to try and start fights with you. Great place for a girl if you want those 40 year old men to grope you. The bouncers are about as useful as the door at the front, often causing more fights then anyone on the inside of that place. Seen the inside with the lights on once, even a shower didn’t quite make me feel clean after that.

Bouncers are unnecessarily disrespectful. Never in my life have I experienced such disrespect, let alone from a sad excuse of a bar. I flew into Ottawa for the time to celebrate a friend's birthday. We were greeted by a stubborn bouncer who nearly assaulted my friend and kicked her shin as she was trying to explain a misunderstanding. He didn't even give us the time of day and proceeded to kick us all (party of 10) out. Overall, WORST bar in Ottawa. STAY AWAY.

The girl charging from the door stole money from 3 different girls. She claimed she a already give money back and treated them like they were drunk. This included me. Who I normally don't drink but she was telling me that she already gave me change. Very unprofessional. I heard people complaining from the washroom too.

BLATENT ROBBERY That is what happened when I went to Tequila Jacks on saturday night (14 December 2013). Right off the bat after going in, I had 2 loose $20 bills in my pocket and decided to buy a drink at the bar. One of the 20's fell out though and a nearby bouncer picked it up. Once I noticed it was missing (about 45 seconds later) my buddy told me he saw the bouncer picking it up so I went to get it back. I asked him if he picked up a 20 and he told me he did, but when I told him it was mine, I had just dropped it and asked for it back he replied by saying, "Well you can't prove its yours so I'm not giving it to you" After a couple minutes of arguing I could see I wasn't getting it back so I just walked away and tried to let the situation slide. This was not the last act of robbery to take place this night though... Later on I decided to get some water for a buddy who had a bit too much to drink and when I got to the bar the bartender told me it would cost $3. After asking if he was serious, he replied "Yeah. Do you want it or not?" I payed the $3 only to watch a girl come up beside me and also ask for water. This time the bartender just said, "Coming right up!" and flipped it around a bit before handing it to her. So now my total robbery losses from this bar total $23. When I told my buddy what had just happened, he decided to see if he would be charged for water too so he went to the bar to get some water. The bartender gave him a free bottle of water just like the girl. Outrageous. So after being blatantly robbed the club shuts down and we have to wait in the coat check line for over an hour just. While we are in line, the bouncer who had robbed me earlier in the night then starts to tell the other bouncers and they all think the entire situation was pretty hilarious! Needless to say, this kind of behaviour should not be tolerated and I will not be returning. tldr? Bouncer took $20 from under my feet. Bartender charged me $3 for water then gave it to a girl and my buddy for free. Waited for over an hour to leave. Too many crooked employees work here.

The first time I went to Tjs with a group of friends, one of their wallets were pulled out of their back pockets by one of the employees. We did complain and reported it to the police who didn’t do anything about either. The second time i decide to go to Tj’s was on my 21st birthday (Friday November 10, at 11:00 pm). The bouncer (tall, blonde hair, blue eyes, white and overweight) was being awfully rude and unreasonable. He claimed one of my friends snuck in when he was just trying to stay warm since he is a visitor and isn’t from canada who also couldn’t handle the weather due to his health issues. I did question the bouncer respectfully and nicely at first but he started swearing and yelling at me as he pushed me back and slammed the door on my face then eventually kicked all of my friends including myself out. I gave the place 2 chances. Every one who works there is super trashy, unprofessional and unqualified.

Fun venue, good music and spots to go outside on balcony and just chill. Prices are alright. Someone smashed the toilet tank lid in the bathroom LOL . Visited from Toronto past Saturday. Bit of a small dance floor too.

Me and my friends were on the guestlist for tequila jacks and they charged us only 2 dollars for coat check. The night was going well but then the bouncers started disrespecting us and we were asked to leave at the end of the night hopelessly looking for my jacket and they couldn't find it!! Don't go to this bar unless u want to get overcharged and get into fights with bouncers!!!

The Great Canadian Cabin is a lively over-19 country bar featuring a spacious dance floor, two patios, and entertainment options like ping pong and billiards. While it's known for its great music and country nights, the vibrant atmosphere attracts a diverse crowd, including students who come to have an unforgettable time.
Great atmosphere

the cabin has been the same meat market for years now...douchebags abound in muscle shirts and popped collars, this place is great if your white, materialistic and vein. I remember the first time I went I knew a bartender (female) who worked there, she approached me to say hi when I was bumped aggresively on the shoulder by a "bro type" bouncer who thought I was bothering the bartender, whom I in fact knew for a long time. This place is full of douchebags with too much testosterone and creatine in their systems. Avoid at all costs
Bjorn M — Google review
Country music is the big nights here, usually smells like puke, and cover can be upwards of $15. It's pretty low on my list for things to do in the market.

Good music. I'm not a fan of country but the atmosphere there is crazy during country nights. Bunch of students having a blast.
