A hidden gem! Don't let the size of this place fool you, the flavours are BIG and it is one of the best bakeries in Ottawa. There is so much to like about this place, their breakfast croissant sandwiches are one of the top favorites in Ottawa. The lunch pizza focaccia are to die for with usually 3 options, a vegetarian, meat and a vegan choice - my favorite is the vegetarian. And don't get me started on the scones and sweets, we haven't had one yet that we were disappointed with. My favorite is the Apple Granola Scone.

The person who served me was really friendly and made my morning. The blueberry Danish I got is crispy and fresh.

Oh my goodness... The pastries were DELICIOUS! (*chef kiss*). They were fresh and flakey and buttery! That blueberry danish was huge! And those blueberries were so fresh even though it was not blueberry season! The banana muffin was dense and MOIST (most important quality in a muffin). Not too sweet, so the banana flavour was very present. I highly recommend taking the jam bun! It's like a pastry roll filled with a fruity jam YUMMY. The cheese and almond/maple croissants didn't taste much in their flavours but they do respect their categories of sweet and savoury in comparison to the original butter croissant.

I bought sourdough bread and it was good but I think what really shines are the drinks. I love the hazelnut latte because it’s not made with the traditional syrup.

Homemade sourdoughs, unique flavoured wheats and other amazing bread-lover delights make this a must for many like myself. They even offer classes for bread making. An excellent place to get a caffeine kick with there awesome coffee bar. Coffee and bread; do we need anything else?! Amazing!

Ordered a GF rectangle layer cake for a birthday. Had a photograph printed for the top of the cake. Cake looked amazing and tasted excellent. Well done. Highly recommend Thimble Cakes for gluten-free cakes or any baked goods.

Thimble cake is a cute little bakery on bank street. I am gluten free and I had to get a smaller cake for myself for a party. The mini rose cake was perfect. They even gave us a cute little personalized sugar disk. The cake itself was beautiful, very fluffy but was just a tad too sweet for my liking. Other than that I will definitely return and try some of their other desserts!

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Thimble Cakes. Discovered them when my daughter had peanut allergies and never stopped going. Cupcakes are delicious but also check out their vegan ice cream. It is so delicious (and I'm not vegan, so i remember what ice cream is suppose to taste like) you will not be disappointed!

As vegans, I am a bit particular about a good vegan dessert, but Thimblecakes has NEVER disappointed. All our wedding guests, vegan, non-vegan, and some gluten free, were over the moon for these deserts. I highly recommend the quality and taste of Thimblecakes desserts. Our cake was a lemon cake with lemon curd (we added the dried citrus ourselves). We had an assortment of (all vegan) cookie dough (a favourite), vanilla love, lemon love, and gluten free carrot cupcakes. Super cute bakery serving up gluten free and vegan baked goodies! I tried their cupcakes in the black forest, lemon love, and raspberry puff flavors. I enjoyed the cake’s moist and deep chocolate flavor. I didnt love the frosting because dairy-free buttercream isn’t my cup of tea (I prefer the flavor from dairy butter and eggs in swiss meringue) but I still enjoyed the cupcakes! Definitely recommend stopping if you’re in the area and looking for vegan + gluten free dessert.

Too expensive. Food good but not great. No one checked on us. My drink didn't taste like cherry or vanilla. Was disappointed as it was recommended drink. Felt strange giving a tip when no one had even served us yet. Had to order and pay at counter. Coffee, soda, cookie, two breakfast sandwiches and one side for 74 dollars and we had to get our own water..not very impressed. Staff was nice though, just wish someone would have come by and asked how things were. Seems to be a popular place!

Show them this picture and order this(forgot the name of it) but it was the yummiest brunch i had in a while. They also have homemade tomato sauce that tastes nothing like i have ever tasted before very flavourful. The service is ok and atmosphere doesn’t have much to offer but the food was yummy.

Expensive but butter and chocolate croissants are really good. Nice and crispy outside and so flaky. So buttery inside. The crazy grain bread is really good! Yum! Outside seating is a parking lot that’s fenced in so not the greatest atmosphere. Inside is loud and has a disorganized feeling. I got stuff to takeaway instead of staying. No way am I paying the price they wanted for a breakfast lol. But glad I tried the pastry. 🥐

We’ve always wanted to try Art-Is-In for breakfast because of all the great reviews, and we’ve visited twice before to try their pastries, which are absolutely amazing! You can tell they’re super professional when it comes to baked goods—this time, the hazelnut-chocolate-coffee pastry was fantastic. That said, our breakfast experience was a bit of a letdown. We ordered the Egg Benny and The Breakfast Plate, but both were just average and nothing special. The bun on the Benny was soaked in oil, which made it unpleasant. As for the coffee, it tasted burnt, and even when I asked for a replacement, it was burnt again. I also ordered an Americano but was served filter coffee instead. The mocha was decent, but at $8 for a medium size, it felt overpriced. On a positive note, the staff here are super nice and friendly, which made the experience more enjoyable despite the issues. We’ll definitely come back for the pastries—they’re worth it! We also noticed a lot of people ordering their pizza, and it looked amazing, so that’s on our list to try next time.

It was my first time trying Art is in bakery and I came specifically to try a cronut for the first time. It my have been an off day but the ones I purchased have a bitter/burnt taste. I thought the colour was due to it being chocolate but it wasn't. For the price of one of those these overcooked/ burnt ones should not have been sold. The atmosphere while waiting to purchase was great, everyone was really friendly but the end experience was negative.

I had a great experience at Simply Biscotti in Ottawa! The turkey cheddar wrap was fresh, flavourful, and perfectly toasted—definitely a standout. I also really enjoyed my cappuccino; it was smooth, rich, and beautifully prepared. Cozy atmosphere and friendly service made it an all-around pleasant visit. Can’t wait to go back!

Wonderfull cafe. Perfect for sweet treats. The staff is really polite, there are plenty of variety in terms of sweet and sour items. Their cheese cases are also really good for birthdays or special occasion. Parking is somewhat limited but we were able to find it on Saturday morning so it should be fine.

From the moment my wife and I stepped in to plan our wedding cake, Robert (the owner) was welcoming, attentive, and completely invested in bringing our vision to life. We weren’t exactly sure what we wanted for the filling, but Robert and his team guided us with care, and the result was the most delicious cake we've ever had: a perfect blend of vanilla and chocolate. From start to finish, the entire process was seamless. Robert and his team were not only professional and creative but also a genuine pleasure to work with. The final cake exceeded all our expectations in both taste and design. We couldn’t be happier and wholeheartedly recommend Simply Biscotti to anyone looking for outstanding service and unforgettable quality.

They have a variety of sweet pastries and salty sandwiches (paninis, baguettes, etc.). Everything looks amazing. I tried a baguette and it was fresh and tasty. They also have many coffee options and cakes. I had a mocha coffee and I really like it. I waited maybe 10 minutes after I ordered. The place was packed and the wait was worth it. Not a complain, but maybe they could improve organization at the counter. My baguette was ready like 5 minutes before I got it; it was behind them. Overall a great experience, excellent food and a nicely decorated place.

We found a hidden gem! The prices are great, and the food tastes amazing too. I think they are Italian style bakery. They have a wide selection of desserts and sandwiches — I’d love to try more items next time!

This time, I stayed a bit longer. It was a Saturday around noon, and the place was packed. Honestly, if this spot were closer to downtown, I bet it would have 3,000+ reviews by now. The staff are friendly and helpful, but service can get a bit sloppy when it’s busy. We ordered a few coffees and pastries. The biscotti came right away on a plate, but they forgot my coffee. Also, don’t expect cutlery or napkins unless you ask. Weekends around morning or noon are hectic, finding a table can be tough. There’s limited free parking, which helps a bit. ——————————- Stumbled upon this hidden gem when my gf brought me here, and now I get why she's so into it. While the vibe and decor could use a romantic upgrade, the pastries are top-notch. Fresh and amazing, especially the various biscotti flavors—I went for 5 and loved them all. Pro tip: grab a box of these goodies for your friends, and they'll love you a thousand times more after trying them! ;)

I ordered a peach tart and a croissant sandwich. The tart was really doughy and flavour less, I couldn’t even taste peach. The croissant was good and fresh. I was disappointed since I have tried their dessert a couple of times before and it has never been this bad.

I couldn’t recommend this place more. They spent time on the phone with me describing their desserts and delivery process. They wrote a hand written note and added customisation on top of the cake. It was beautifully gift wrapped too. When they weren’t going to have something in time they promptly notified me and added something else instead without an extra charge. So delicious and pretty! The delivery came at night the next day.

I would highly recommend purchasing your baked goods from Three Tarts! I'm not from Ottawa, but I wanted to send some surprise goodies to a family member on an important day. Emily was super responsive and helped coordinate a seamless delivery, going out of her way to help me out. On top of that, the Aidan's cake and the Savoury Tart were delicious per my family!

Three Tarts is a lovely bakery that offers a selection of wonderful, beautiful, delicious desserts. The carrot cake is delightful and moist. The lemon meringue tart is delicious, tart and light while the lemon cheese cake steals the show. Thus far, we have sampled many of their selections and have been satisfied every single time. We highly recommend.

Such a great bakery, you cannot go wrong with anything you order here but I can say they have one of the best cheesecakes in the city! Also the staff are so kind and accommodating, and we are always greeted with a smile when we walk in!

I went to try Bread and Sons for lunch today for the first time. I wanted to try it based on all the great reviews. I ordered the gouda sandwich which was supposed to be "life changing". The gouda wasn't melted at all after asking for it to be grilled and there was no arugula on it which was detailed in the description. Instead they used romaine lettuce. Kinda disappointed. The many capers mixed with olive compote is quite overpowering and the focaccia bread is so hard! No idea why this sandwich gets such a great review. I found it expensive at $10.62 plus tax. I tried the butter croissant as well to see if it was as good as people say. It was very nice to be fair. 👍🏼 Edit: just to say thanks a lot to the owner for the refund. I will go in hopefully soon to try something else. I truly appreciate the contact from the owner and the effort to fix the issues. I have upped the service to a 5 star as client service is really good :). update will follow Add: I did go back and got the breakfast sandwich and the feta boreka. The boreka was super crunchy and the sesame crusted top was delicious. It was a bit salty, but that's because it's filled with feta cheese. Really nice! The breakfast croissant is unbelievable. I want to get this again actually. Two poached eggs on a croissant with cheese and warmed up. Mmmmm. The eggs were still a bit soft which was really nice. The cheese was lovely as well. Really had a European feel to it. Yum! I want to try all the croissants now. 😋

Gouda sandwich , 2 slices of pizza and chocolate macadamia cookies. The pizza was ok. The sandwich was amazing. The cookies also tasty. An expensive place but good for treating yourself. Definitely the sandwiches are their best in my opinion. Will go back.

Lovely place to buy cakes, cookies, cupcakes and more. This is my second stunning cake from here and it was the perfect amount of sweetness from the most beautiful icing flowers. The three layers of different flavoured cakes were delish. I had flower cookies last year that were the best I've ever tasted so was excited to buy more. The 1 less star is because of the cookies which were a disappointment this time. Pretty, but too hard to eat.

We have been getting our cakes from here for a while. It’s nut free which helps for family with not allergies. And they make gluten free cupcakes when you order in advance, which taste great! They are as moist as a regular cupcake, they are not crumbly or dry. We recently got cakes and GF cupcakes for my daughter’s birthday, they did the design exactly as my daughter wanted, and they tasted great! Good balance between the icing and cake so it’s not too sweet. I recently had a cake made for my husband's birthday. The bakers did an excellent job, and Julie was so easy to talk to. She really understood what I wanted and managed to have everything ready for me in less than 7 days! He loved the cake and it was very tasty! I like their cakes. Their cakes are the best. I love them. If you nice cakes, visit this place. There is one dislike I have for this place, there is one lady who works there and her customer service to me is not very nice at all. I have visited twice and it happened both times with the same person. The other lady was so nice, very willing to help, I loved her customer service. The other one, I am not sure if she is the boss somehow but her attitude is not nice. It feels like you are wasting her time, she doesn't want to be bothered, even when I was talking to the nicer one, she would interrupt and takeover like I am wasting their time I must just read what the prices are. I told her they are a bit confusing for me and she kept saying, they are very clear, its easy to understand. I like their cakes but I think twice before I go there because of the customer service from one of the ladies there. The first time it happened, I ignored it and didn't bother writing a review. But now it happened again, I thought let me write something. My heart sank when I got in the second time and saw her there again. I think there is need for improvement on your customer service. Treat customers with respect, and patience. What you think is clear labels might not be clear to everyone, explain with politeness not rude or anger.

We ordered our cupcakes and cutting cake from The Cupcake Lounge for our wedding on June 26th and they were a huge hit! We had lemon, apple, chocolate, and vanilla cupcakes, and every single flavour was delicious. There was lots of variety for our guests to choose from and the icing colours matched our decor perfectly. They looked beautiful and tasted even better. We noticed how quickly our guests were grabbing them throughout the night and how everyone hoped they could take some home at the end. The whole experience was easy. Laura and the rest of the team we interacted with was professional, friendly, and communicated everything clearly. Pickup and timing were smooth and stress free. All my wife wanted for her birthday was a lemon cheesecake. I called the Cupcake Lounge and inquired if they were able to accommodate. They quickly took my order, on Friday afternoon for a Sunday pickup. This cheesecake was hands down the very BEST cheesecake we have ever had. The lemon curd on top was next level, the cheesecake was fluffy and just the right sweetness and the crust - I don’t even have words to describe how incredibly delicious it was. The presentation was absolutely gorgeous. Thank you so much for making my wife’s birthday complete with this perfect dessert.

We had Cupcake Lounge provide the wedding cake and cupcakes for our recent wedding and couldn't be happier with the process, execution and quality of the product. The tasting was fun and informative, and Laura was super kind, helpful and organized. She and her team did a fantastic job bringing our vision to life, accomodating all our special requests and delivering a delicious experience to us and all our guests. They rocked the aviation design we were looking for, and were even able to create cute custom toppers. We wouldn't have done anything different and would definitely recommend Cupcake Lounge to anyone looking for a unique wedding cake/treat option.

Atmosphere is great, there’s lots of available seating, it’s very cozy and smells absolutely phenomenal. I came here to get a coffee and check out the place but was surprised to see gluten free options available, so I had to give them a shot, and they were pretty solid! Although it wasn’t among the best coffees I’ve had, the atmosphere and service are next level.

First of all, the cupcakes are a lot smaller than I expected for $5 each, but oh well. As others here have said, they were rather dry, which was surprising given that I picked them up in the morning. They kind of crumbled when my mom (who was celebrating her 90th birthday) tried to eat them with a fork. I got a 4 pack, which comes in this box that basically makes it impossible to get the cupcakes out without either destroying them or getting icing all over your fingers. Anyways, seems like a nice place and friendly people, but I don't think I'll go back.

The Cupcake Lounge made our wedding cake and we were so impressed with it! Our initial consultation with Laura was great, she allowed us to try many different cakes and explained all of the options to us. She is so friendly and easy to work with. Anytime I emailed her she was fast to respond & had no problem making a few changes. She also coordinated the fresh flowers that are on top of the cake (initial topper purchased elsewhere). There was also a delivery option for a very reasonable price. The cake was not only beautiful, but delicious. I highly recommend getting your wedding cake from here.

Very nice open bakery, pastry and fresh food eatery. They have a beautiful selection of breads & sweets. The tartine was very fresh on the palate. The fruit Danish was great, and I was so tempted to try multiple pastries. Food is a bit pricey, but then again, it is located in the tourist trap of Byward Market.

Already too full to eat another bite, but still found myself drawn to this French bakery right next to the Italian place I just visited. Rumor has it Obama once stopped by here—guess every country’s businesses know how to ride the celebrity wave. The selection was dazzling, but honestly, I couldn’t eat another thing. Still, I grabbed a croissant just for the experience. It was light and airy, not sticky at all—like a polite and beautiful French person. Maybe it was because I had just devoured a dessert moments before, but even after rinsing my palate with a hot Americano, I couldn’t quite catch the croissant’s original aroma. Still, it left a nice aftertaste—nothing overpowering, just a gentle flavor. Paired with the leftover Americano from earlier, it felt like meal number 188 of the day. #Patagonia – Can’t bear to buy it, but food? I’ll splurge again and again.

I went here for the first time and was very impressed with the selection of everything they have and the quality of the food that I tried. It was a fun experience simply looking at all the goodies in their display. And their display seems to go on and on as tou turn the corner and realize there is so much more to enjoy here. We tried both sweet and savory and they were all good. Also, they have really good coffee including lattes. There are plenty of tables here to sit and enjoy your food and the staff was very friendly. Overall, a great experience and I'll be sure to return next time I'm in the area.

Must visit place if visiting Ottawa. Very delicious cheese cakes and mousse cakes. Their baked goods, especially different breads are great to try. Olive bread, mango mousse, tiramisu and mini pizzas are what I recommend as must try things. Coffee is average, nothing special. Very large dine in place, you can easily find table even on weekends. Pricing is on higher side.

i felt as though i had walked into a bakery heaven; it has been years since i have seen a patisserie like this! We bought our dessert here in the evenings to savour. Everything was absolutely delicious! Before we checked out of our hotel, we went back and bought 3 loaves of bread (now in our freezer) plus an apricot brioche for the road. Big shout-out to the charming young lady who served us; she was awesome.

I had high hopes for this charming French bakery, especially given its inviting décor and tempting pastry display. Unfortunately, the eggs breakfast fell a bit flat — the eggs were undercooked, and overall, it just lacked the flair you’d expect from a French kitchen. The coffee was similarly underwhelming. It wasn’t terrible, but it didn’t stand out. That said, the ambiance is lovely, and the pastries looked incredible.

We bought our wedding cake from Batter Up Bakery. A two-tiered cake of lemon and chocolate with simple white buttercream frosting. It was exactly what we wanted: elegant, beautiful, and delicious! Jamie-Lynn was great to work with throughout and hand-delivered it to our wedding venue the day of. We, and our guests, loved it!

We hired batterup bakery to do our son’s first birthday party. Cake and dessert table. It was a circus themed party, and boy did she deliver! The cake was stunning! And delicious! Everytime I order cookies from batter up I am blown away. We ordered cookies for my daughter’s 6th birthday and they were stunning. The new storefront is lovely and the coffee was really good! Will be coming back with the kiddos to spend more time!

I wanted decorated sugar cookies for my daughter's birthday and Batter Up Bakery didn't disappoint. I submitted a request online and got a prompt response. I shared my theme and ideas for the cookies - I didn't give a ton of direction since, as a baker myself, I know sometimes you have to give some artistic freedom - and Jamie-Lynn said it wouldn't be a problem. I confirmed pick-up time close to the date to make sure all was in order - no issues. Pick-up took no time at all and I had the pleasure of being surprised by the design. All the guests that tried the cookies said they were amazing and loved them. I would definitely go back for out next event.

I recently placed an order for decorated cookies for an engagement party. Batter Up Bakery had been recommended to me and they didn't disappoint. The cookies were absolutely spectacular, everyone at the party was blown away. Dealing with Jamie-Lynn leading up to the party was seamless, she quickly responded to any inquiries I had by email and the price was very reasonable. Will definitely order again.

When I picked up the cake I ordered ( very last minute) they were practically emptied out moving into a new location ( whoch is why i gave them a 4/5 rating. Im sure the new place will be amazing!). Congratulations in the next chapter of Batter Up Bakery!! Even through all the motions they've been going through I was still able to place a last minute order and it was exactly what I wanted! A stunning cake for my mother's 70th birthday not only beautiful but also very delicious. It was a major hit with all the adults and children! I got a salted caramel chocolate- salted caramel filling(which was a real caramel filling, and a chocolate flavored cake. Outstanding! I highly recommend Batter Up Bakery!

Batter Up Bakery was a dream to work with. Jamie-Lynn's communication was quick and clear. She responded promptly and was very direct with her pricing and availability, which was a massive breath of fresh air for us. The tasting was so much fun and so delicious, it was hard picking flavors for our cake! We chose chocolate and cookies and cream. The day of the wedding, the cake was delivered as previously agreed upon and on time. The cake itself was stunning, and she worked with our florist to add flowers as decor to the cake. We couldn't be happier with our experience with Batter Up Bakery and would recommend her to anyone.

I would travel sometimes all the way from montreal just to eat from this doughnut shop and it never disappoint me. I believe this is a must try doughnut shop. The dough is just soo fluffy and whatever flavor you get is just soo good but you gotta go there sometimes early before they ran out of some doughnuts. I went there with my family and my aunt is very picky about food and finally was very happy i found a place she likes. Totally worth it for me to come here from montreal.

If you want a cup of iced coffee, some warm sunshine, and a C'est la Vie vibe, try one of this shop's donuts on the patio. You'll probably want to go back again soon. The dough is in very good condition, the sweetness is not as strong as you might think, and the freshness will not disappoint you.

Been dying to try this. We made a stop when returning to Toronto from Montreal. There are a couple classic flavor of donuts, along with some very unique ones. There's 1 donut on display of each and the remainder were on racks. They tasted fantastic and love up to the hype. I do think the display ones should be covered to protect them from fruit flies. But it was otherwise a very clean location, public washroom available along with a cute outdoor patio

This was my first time here, and the selection of 8 they had were mouth-watering! We had to take one of each to try what was left, as we got there towards the end of the day. The service was quick, efficient and very kind. Thank you! The shop has a really nice vibe to it, not too distracting, and leaving your eyes naturally flowing towards the doughnut selection! 🍩

My introduction to Suzy Q was in my Kanata office, when someone brought in a box of their doughnuts and said, “What do you mean you haven’t heard of Suzy Q?” Valid point—it’s truly a classic Ottawa spot now. Ottawa has no shortage of amazing doughnuts, but Suzy Q consistently tops the list. Their rotating seasonal doughnuts are always inventive, but my absolute favourite was a strawberry cronut they had one summer—I would honestly give up my firstborn for them to bring it back. It perfectly captured the taste and feeling of summer. From their standard menu, the Boston Cream is hands-down the best I’ve ever had. I bring all my friends who visit Ottawa to Suzy Q to try it, or bring it to them—it’s that good. The cream is light and not too sweet, and the thick layer of chocolate on top is just perfect. It always seems to be the first one to sell out, and for good reason. If I have one plea, it’s this: please extend your hours! I would love to grab a Suzy Q doughnut at 7:30 pm—some of us need a late-night doughnut fix. One last thing I appreciate: they pay their staff a living wage. It’s clear that this is a place that cares not just about the doughnuts, but about the people who make them. Give Susan Q, as I call them, a try if you have not tried them yet.

BY FAR, the best donut shop I've ever experienced (and having lived in Vancouver for several years, I KNOW what gourmet donuts are!). Literally, the greatest donut ever made is one of Suzie's creations: MANGO COCONUT CREAM!!!!!!! UN-REAL!!!!! My only complaint is that it's a seasonal donut and now off the menu until next summer. WHY??????? If they make this a staple, it would draw in people year-round. Of course, it's not their only delicious offering; the maple bacon is like a pancake breakfast in donut form and there's no equal in its class. Honestly, if I named and described all my favourites this review would end up over 2500 words long, at least! In conclusion: MANGO COCONUT CREAM YEAR ROUND, PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!

On our way along our 'Guess Where Trip' we stopped at this quaint and picturesque bakery. The staff were welcoming in both French and English as we took in all the beautiful, fresh baked goods and many other unique products. We bought a selection of cookies, butter tarts and a amply sized date square. Every bite was perfection! The entrance is conveniently next to parking while they renovate to make a larger space with the option to sit inside and enjoy a coffee and fresh pastry. I highly recommend pulling off the 174 for a treat at the Black Walnut Bakery!

A perfect spot to grab a coffee and snack before jumping on the ferry. Lots of delicious pasteries and they make a great cappuccino. Had a freshly made almandine croissant that paired well with my cap. They are currently doing some construction but hopefully they are creating some seating area in the front of the house to make it a bigger cafe to sit and enjoy everything they make.

If you ever find yourself walking into Black Walnut Bakery, the aroma of fresh bread and sweet pastries might distract you, but you must stay focused. Your mission is to find the Mexican Beef Barbacoa Sandwich. If you're lucky enough to see one left on the shelf, you've found a treasure. This isn't just a sandwich; it's a perfect harmony of flavors and textures. The braised Lavergne beef is tender and rich, the crumbled feta adds a creamy, salty tang, and the house-pickled jalapeños provide just the right amount of fiery kick. Each bite is a delightful surprise. All of these incredible ingredients are held together by a fresh, hearty ciabatta bun, which is the perfect vessel for this culinary masterpiece. Simply put, this sandwich is an unforgettable experience and an absolute must-get.

I've been hearing really good things about this bakery in the heart of Cumberland for years now, but was never able to make it work to get out to it. That all changed recently as I was able to get there mid-week on a couple of occasions and I have to say that I was not disappointed. The people and service are excellent, even while they go through some major renovations, but ultimately it's the food that will bring you here. They make beautiful delicious baked goods. The breads all look and smell delightful and indeed the Khorasan loaf I tried was excellent. The croissants are buttery, flaky and devine. I also love that they seem to incorporate items that are not common in Ottawa, like the apple pecan bostock I had. I'd never even heard of a bostock before, but holy crap it's delicious. Go get one while it's on the menu! They change up the menu fairly regularly, so there's always something new and delicious to try. There's still some construction going on as of September 2025, but it's not detrimental to the experience and if the parking lot is full, which it often is because this place is so good, there's street parking available in the area as well.

This bakery is exceptional. The quality of their products is consistently outstanding — from their fresh bread to their pastries, soups, and sandwiches. Each item reflects great attention to detail and a true passion for baking. The staff is always warm, welcoming, and attentive, creating a genuinely pleasant atmosphere. I also appreciate the thoughtful gestures toward families, such as allowing children to choose a small sticker during visits. It’s these little touches, combined with excellent food and service, that make this bakery a true gem in the community.

After a terrible experience at another local bakery that for a lack of better words "left a sour taste in my mouth," I decided to make the trek a bit further out to try out The Black Walnut... and I was not disappointed! The service was incredible, the ambience is warm and inviting... the items I purchased were so flavourful. This will be my new go-to spot without a doubt! Kudos to this team for harbouring such an inclusive and welcoming spot. I will definitely be back and I will let all of my friends know.

After a beautiful drive to Cumberland, we stopped at The Walnut Bakery for breakfast and wow, what a gem. Everything looked so good it was genuinely hard to choose! We ended up with a ham & cheese croissant, a ham & cheese scone, a feta & spinach quiche, and a pumpkin muffin. Every single thing was amazing. The pumpkin muffin was soft and moist without being overly sweet, and the scone was absolutely perfect. And, I’m picky about scones. You can taste the care and quality in everything we got. A wonderful family-run bakery that clearly takes pride in what they do. I’ll be a happy return customer!

I was so happy to find a fully vegan bakery in Ottawa, I never would've guessed that it was gluten free :) and kosher and nut free. I stopped here for brunch and got a cinnamon roll, a banana chocolate muffin and a berry iced tea slushie. All DELICIOUS!

I got a slice of the coffee cake at $1.84 only as it was on the 50% off tray. For being gluten free, it was a great pastry at a great price. However, the cake was very dry and not very fluffy. I would’ve been fooled in thinking it was a regular cake if not for the dryness. Or maybe it was just because it was not fresh from the day.

We had our wedding cake and cookies done by strawberry blonde and they were amazing! We got lots of compliments and our guest really enjoyed. I couldn’t ask for better!! Love Steven and Isabelle

We had Strawberry Blonde make our wedding cake & cupcakes and they were beautiful and delicious! The groom has a nut allergy and a few guests have celiac disease or are vegan so it was the perfect way to ensure everyone felt safe and could enjoy a treat without worry! We aren’t huge dessert people, but the cupcakes especially were a huge hit. I think people thought the cake was too beautiful to eat - so we enjoyed some after the fact and have frozen some to enjoy on anniversaries to come :)

I visited to purchase an allergy free dessert for my niece. I visited on a Friday afternoon-the person at the counter simply said they didn't have what I was looking for-no further discussion/options offered. I had seen their cakes at another store, and was able to find the item I had requested at that location. My niece and her friend didn't care for the cake, saying it was dense and they didn't like the taste. They only had a bite each before it was discarded.

Nice and cozy bakery on Richmond Road. The staff was welcoming and ready to assist during my visit. I had questions and the staff member went the extra mile to look for the answer to provide me with tailored answers. The place looked well lit due to the large windows, the very high ceiling and the spacious venue. An option to sit in is available. Some cakes are available for immediate purchase and they offer a selection of cold and hot drinks. The prices are okay, not cheap and there’s also a selection of breads. Parking is on the street and is not free. Overall nice location and nice service.

I usually love this bakery—the desserts are always delicious and beautifully made. Unfortunately, my most recent visit was disappointing due to the service. The staff member who helped us was cold and impatient, which made me feel unwelcome, as though I was bothering them simply by asking a question. Since the cupcake flavours weren’t displayed, I asked what they were, but the worker rolled their eyes, sighed, and rushed through the list. I ended up just taking the first one they mentioned because it was clear my question was an inconvenience. I hope this was just an off day.

This place ended up being a little gem that featured some of our favourite desserts. It didn't look like you could go wrong with any of the desserts here but I went with the cream egg cookie sandwich and it blew my socks off. It was huge and delicious. The service here was fantastic. Prices were on the higher side but they're pretty gourmet treats here. Highly recommend checking it out if you're in this area. 5/5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Tried the ham and cheese pesto sandwich today and OMG is it good! Best sandwich I've had in the city for sure. Everything was so fresh tasting. It was huge and a good price. I love that the staff still take covid precautions <3 I will definitely be back for another!!

I ordered a mixed box of six cupcakes. Their strawberry cupcakes are my favourite! I also really liked the coffee flavour. I found the cake part of the other flavours a bit dry, but the icing balanced it out. I’ll definitely return to try out some of the other items on their menu.

Great vegan bakery in the Westboro area. They currently have a max capacity of 2 customers due to the COVID restrictions. The store is small but very clean. Also, the decor is simple yet tasteful. The service was good. The worker welcomed us and answered all the questions we had. I was really glad to see that they offered not only vegan options but gluten free ones as well. Their desserts are very creative and are aesthetically pleasing. We got a blueberry scone, peanut butter and strawberry Twinkie, double chocolate cookie sandwich, vanilla doughnut, whipped berry spritz and cherry spritz. All the desserts were delicious and the spritz were very tasty. We will definitely return again and try more of their options.

DONT EAT HERE , rude staff, disgusting pastries, I ordered a dozen of sweets from them, they had hair inside the sweets and it was definitely old and sitting for over a week. When we asked if it was fresh we were assured it was baked today. Stay away I wouldn’t recommend.

It was more than awful 😢. We ordered two pieces of cake and couldn’t finish them, with every bite the feeling was worse. The desserts were baked at least several days ago, stale, tasteless, margarine and sugar. It felt like you are chewing nothing but something very sugary. I asked before ordering if they use butter and cream. The answer was YES. Unfortunately, it was a mistake to visit this place, rip off. Why is the rating 4+???

I would like to bring to your attention a recent experience I had with your establishment that left me quite disappointed. On a recent occasion, I ordered a few small cakes, and I found the price, which totaled $3.75 each, to be rather steep compared to the quality I expected. I inquired specifically about whether the cakes were fresh, and I was assured they were. However, it became evident to me that they had been previously frozen, leading me to believe that I was misled. The cakes tasted as though they had been stored in a freezer for an extended period, which was disheartening. I urge you not to waste your money on products that do not meet reasonable freshness standards. Furthermore, I must express my dissatisfaction with the service I received; it was subpar at best. There appears to be a pressing need for an improvement in staff training to ensure that honesty and transparency are upheld in customer interactions. As it stands, I do not anticipate returning to your establishment anytime soon.

Stopped in with my husband and son for a few baklava, eclair and macaroons. The new shop (on Hunt club) was nicely put together. The lady behind the counter was really personable and super helpful. The desserts were really delicious and perfectly priced and they looked so amazing, beautifully created. Only negative would be that I think they could use more sitting area and perhaps some coffee choices. Highly recommend. We'll be back again soon. :)

Came and got a mixed plate of baklava to try a bunch of different types. The cashier was helpful in explaining some of the differences and was very friendly. The baklava were great, I'm no connoisseur in this specific dish but everything was enjoyable and distinct.

Although with a name such as La Brioche, there was not one single brioche when I walked in. Apparently it’s the name only for this long standing establishment …… Seems like it is mostly middle eastern sweets…. Baklava of all sorts. Some Indian style sweets as well. On two side fridges, there are loaded with French pastries….. but they don’t look as refine as Adonis or other stores that I go to. Yet, I purchased some baklava ( they charge by weight) , they were surprisingly tasty and crunchy …… many choices buying bulk would be best. Conclusion , despite the name confusion, I am glad I discovered a fresh middle eastern bakery in the middle of Glebe.

This cafe was exceptionally inviting and delicious. We fell upon it by chance looking for a place in Hintonburg for a fab espresso! Oh my gosh you have to try this location as the staff are super friendly and committed to a great experience. I tried the Ganache Mocha and it was yummy! Cute spot for sandwiches and bakery items! Came here with my family on a Sunday morning to have a simple breakfast + coffee + treats. We ordered a grilled cheese, breakfast croissants, scones, an apple well, and a muffin. The sandwiches were more than satisfactory, the scones were to die for, and the desserts were okay. Overall I’m quite pleased with the food. The service was friendly, the place was clean, and the vibe was great. Definitely coming back.

Lovely coffee shop and bakery with friendly staff, alternative milks, good coffee selection and great pastries. Warm, welcoming, cosy and unpretentious inside. Seats at the window were a good place to just watch the world go by. Coffee was really good (and I had decaf which isn't always a great choice at coffee shops).

Large order of treats delivered as a birthday surprise from my daughter. Would have preferred a list of items. Was unsure about dough and rye bread as I’m highly allergic. Had to call to find out. It was “mock” rye which was great. Even better flavour the following day. Eclairs are my favourite. So soft and delicious. Lemon pie, cinnamon bun with cream cheese icing also top notch. Everything was good! Courteous delivery staff who confirmed order was for me. Every item was well packaged. Curious about delivery costs as I’d like to make another order. Did not see on website.

We had a wonderful GF birthday cake made to order. The owner was very accommodating with my request for a lemon cake and it was sooo awesome to get such a gaint gf cake! My wife loved the quality of the sponge and the butter cream icing. We even froze half the cake and eat it over couple weeks, and it was stall great after being defrost ed. Highly recommended!! The sweets are very good! The blueberry cheesecake is awesome! But the most important thing no matter how good the food is, customer service :) Welcoming, not-rude and non-condescending approach to a customer is very much appreciated. I highly recommend this place to people with allergies like me. They’re not just gluten-free they’re also soy-free. I will surely come back for more! 😉

Voila Bakeree is fantastic, I bought a full selection of sweets from the bakery and I was very happy. My husband and I particularly loved the coconut cream pie. Everything that I tasted was very good to excellent quality. I felt like the home cooking I had missed since becoming gluten free in 1997 had finally caught up with me. I'll be going back soon for more chocolate chip cookies and a pie or cake if they have one. Thank you, Ryan, for making such good stuff.

Their gluten-free food, baked goods and pies are amazing and the staff recognize you. For me they know my allergies and make sure to take that into account and always have lots of delicious treats and food, even spring rolls! Following the COVID rules set out by the government of Ontario, while still maintaining their wonderful atmosphere. They even have paper menu copies you can pick up in store! Best gluten-free bakery in Ottawa. Wonderful prices as well, fresh food, and it’s usually equal or cheaper than the grocery store foods. ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ They even ask about your pets health, since there’s a vet in the same plaza. I have never had a bad experience at this store.

Ordered a french chocolate cake last month for a very special person's birthday with some detailing on it. The cake was scrumptious and the details I had asked were done so perfectly. I have always been a fan of there cupcakes but this was my first experience ordering a cake. The staff are very kind and the ingredients they use are so fresh,will definitely recommend 😀

Amazing people, wonderful bakery. I would especially note their raisin bread (Thursdays only) is the best ever, if you like it dense and chewy. The chocolate croissants are to die for. Strongly recommend getting both fresh out of the oven at opening time - chocolate will be molten. Yum!

Hands down the best chocolate chip cookie in Ottawa and so far that I have ever tasted. Extremely rich and buttery I suspect which makes this my special treat. Breads are incredibly as well and you really can not go wrong with any of the baked choices. Add that to their very friendly service, you have a recipe for success.

My wife and I stopped here while in the area visiting and we each had a cupcake. They were the BEST cupcakes I have ever had. I had a lemon buttercream cupcake,and I was very impressed. It was not too sweet, but very flavorful. I will definitely return next time I in Ottawa.

Great service and value. We recently ordered some squares for an event and asked them to be cut up in bite sized pieces. They were delicious and well presented each in their own paper and convenient to pick up in pizza boxes for us to put out on trays at our venue. They were recommended from a friend and I would recommend them for your self catered events too!

Best croissants I've had and very good cupcakes. My only complaint is that I find the icing on the cupcakes insanely sweet and can never finish one without a sugar overload. It's unfortunate because I love the flavours.

Had a chocolate cupcake that was very heavy and filled with too much dense chocolate in the middle, if you like a kind of weird overly heavy cupcake then it is decent but I would consider for most people that it is not really the ideal texture for a cupcake. The bread is heavy as well, however in this case is works well, and for their bread I will be coming back. **Edit** I have gone back a few times when getting bread which still remains to always be delicious, and I got tempted by the sweets a few times so I bought a few. They were always weird, I don't quite know how they are messing up their sweets. For instance their lemon square which tasted meh at best, had kind of terrible presentation/texture with the curd not really setting and so when they put the square into a bag the square completely fell apart with most of the curd separating from the base. I have also tried a few other sweets, but they were very bland, and to be honest I am not quite sure why... maybe shortening instead of butter? Or forgetting to add salt? Really too bad as I really do like their bread and especially so as it isn't very expensive. So 5 stars for bread, 1 star for sweets, average it out and it is a 3 star experience. Oh, I should also add that they have been very nice to me which really makes me want to like their sweets. **Update #2 **: I actually quite like their cookies (I still buy a lot of bread there so I am tempted time to time). They are not a normal chocolate chip cookie, but more of a flat crisp cookie. I have adjusted my rating accordingly (to 4 stars).

If you like scones like I do then this is the place to go for in Ottawa. The scones are good and fresh. My favorites for the sweet ones are lemon-poppyseeds and dates&fennel. For the savoury ones I go for herbs&onions or Feta. For the scone sandwiches, I recommend poached salmon or smoked turkey. They have also good brunch options on the weekends. The stuff are friendly and the service always great.

Having breakfast here for three days in a row! I like the simplicity of the menu - the scones are really delicious - the smell of baked scones never fails! Good choice for a light yet fulfilling meal. I always visit when in town

Went here for the first time. Had a great experience. There’s not much parking around would recommend maybe biking or walking to get there. They have some seating outside in front of the store. They have some really cook scone witch art throughout the store which is really cool to see. The place was bumping! Lots of seating inside could probably sit 20-30 people. Service was quick and staff were friendly. They sell a couple breakfast options/ 5-6 scone sandwiches and just scones on the side. They also have a coffees, and other types of coffee type drinks available to help that sweet scone travel down that bod of yours. I went there for breakfast and got a dark roast coffee and a eggwitch sandwich and would recommend them both. I was visiting from afar but would definitely return for another visit. Adds a little spice compared to your average Tim’s or Starbucks experience.

Opens at 6:30 AM – perfect for early risers. Tried two savory breakfast scones (herb & onion, and cheddar) – both were decent. For the sweet options, I’d recommend the oatmeal over the orange cranberry. Coffee was better than expected, making this a nice spot to start the morning.

I cannot recommend this place highly enough! The scones are the best I've ever had. Savory herb one and the sweet vanilla cream (despite not being a vanilla fan) were so flavorful and good. Such a great price and a cute little place to have coffee as well! 100/10 would recommend to anyone nearby

I expected more from this place, but honestly, I was disappointed. The service was slow and a bit confusing—we weren’t sure where we were allowed to sit, and the menu wasn’t very clear either. For the price, I was expecting better quality and portion sizes, but it didn’t meet those expectations. The vanilla scone, unfortunately, was also quite flavorless.

Milo’s Pastry is absolutely amazing! Everything I’ve tried has been delicious — light, flavourful, and beautifully made. Their seasonal offerings are especially gorgeous, and their holiday cookie plates are a true standout. I’ve purchased birthday cakes, cupcakes, individual treats, and even a diabetic-friendly cake — which went over incredibly well. The guest of honour was genuinely touched and amazed that we could find such a thoughtful option that didn’t compromise on taste or presentation. Milo’s is a true gem that offers exceptional baked goods and a wonderful customer experience.

Fantastic staff, nice selection, good cakes. Ordered a slab cake for an anniversary and they did a great classy design. The cake was moist, and the icing wasn’t too thick. I just wish the chocolate filling inside had more of a chocolate flavour to make it standout. Everyone enjoyed the cake and I’ll be definitely going back to try more of their pastries!

I ordered my wedding cake from Artistic Cake Design. I was looking for a bakery and I was recommended this shop many times by people online. I am so happy I chose Artistic Cake Design. Andrew answered all of my inquiries promptly, and the ordering process was very easy. It was also very affordable. We got a heart shaped vanilla cake with vanilla buttercream icing. I drove an hour to pick up my son's birthday cake, and as soon as I walked into the storefront, I was greeted by one of the owners (I believe). My first words to him were, “It smells absolutely amazing in here,” and in that moment, I knew I had made the right choice. He provided excellent customer service and brought out the cake, which I was beyond happy with—it looked incredible, and I knew it was going to be a hit at the party. When it came time to cut the cake, we were not disappointed. This was by far one of the best-tasting cakes we’ve ever ordered. Our guests kept asking where it was from because it was that good. I would highly recommend these guys for all your cake needs. Everything was smooth from start to finish, and the prices were also great!

Go there now! Wow, all things Portuguese! So the food, service and ambience are amazing. Very clean business, totally accessible and plenty of free parking. Some businesses really stand out and this is such a place. I tried their most popular dishes and decided it would be a repeat experience soon. They sell many hard to find Portuguese foods and drinks. I finally found a very tasty canned grilled cod here! Their coffees are all awesome and delicious. As I conclude, I am enjoying the ambient Portuguese music playing in the background. Congratulations to the owner and the team that make this place such a great place for their clients!

Truly authentic Portuguese Café and bakery but actually much more than that, its menu also includes tasty Portuguese chicken, and an ample variety of sandwiches. They also have quite a few Portuguese grocery staples in both the non-perishable and refrigerated categories. I commend the owners for putting a lot of effort into recreating a corner of Portugal right in the heart of Kanata. During our first visit, we had a Pastel de Nata (a must), a Pear Tart and a Cheesecake. All of them were really good but I wasn't expecting the Patel de Nata to be the best I have had anywhere, including a café in Lisbon where I tried it for the first time and it was just ok. Lusa has allowed me to comprehend why Pastel de Nata is a cornerstone of Portuguese gastronomy. I really liked Lusa's decor with Azuleijos , the artistic wall and the family ambience. Chairs are comfortable unlike many Cafés, the artistic decor is inspiring and I appreciate they have a frame with an explanation of what Saudade is, on the way out of the restaurant! Nifty way to remind us to come back to visit in true Portuguese fashion! Gladly I will resist Saudade and a short visit to Lusa will remind me of the taste and ambience of the things that will always be there for us to enjoy, like a Pastel de Nata from Lusa, hopefully shared with friends and family.

Was working nearby & at lunch saw the word 'bakery' on the map. SOLD. I got a wonderful steak onion pepper n cheese sandwich (hot) for lunch. The fillings were even and plentiful and lasted until the last bite. Same with the bun, it stood up to the steak juices and was there until the last bite! Perfect inside to outside ratio. I wish I got something sweet. I was there on a Thursday almost exactly at noon & can see the place getting busy. Limited seating for +/- 20people. Bright storefront. Seems to offer some Portuguese grocery type items as well.

Stopped in today after driving by this bakery countless times, and researching on Google! I purchased three pastries and have to say this is the best Almond Croissant I have tasted- there was the perfect ratio to croissant and custard! Customer service was great and the associate answered my questions with ease! I cannot wait to return to try the hot meals ☺️

Popped in for a custard tart, stayed for an espresso. Amazing looking delicacies in the display case. It was hard keeping things down to a reasonable level, but I picked up two tarts (and a cinnamon brioche for tomorrow). I've never been to Portugal, but I have a hard time imagining a better pattern than these. We both had espresso, had no trouble finding a seat by the window, even if it only looks out on a parking lot. That's why you give the seat looking into the restaurant to your loved one.

We love this place! My dad loves all the Portuguese treats and it brings him back to his childhood in Portugal. Everything is delicious and I love the wall with Portuguese drawings and phrases. This place is just perfect!

I could not say enough about the artistry of Irina! I hate to say that I called two other well known shops first in Ottawa. They told me they couldn’t and wouldn’t make the cake based on the photo provided. Irina said YES with confident! And she proved why!

Irina made my daughter's 13th birthday cake, and can I just say WOW. When I asked for the quote, I was gearing up for a huge price tag, but to my pleasant surprise, the price was very affordable. Her ordering process was very easy. The care demonstrated by her and her husband when picking up the cake was phenomenal. The pride demonstrated in the work made me recognize the true value of my purchase, which made me even more excited to see th3 finished product. The cake was the highlight of my daughter's party. I regret not reviewing sooner! Irina made this cake for me and my husband for our 10th anniversary she was very helpful and answered any questions I had, we ordered a red velvet cake with cream cheese icing it had a very yummy fondant layer over top of butter cream that was rich and very good she had made hand made flower because she dose not work with real/ fresh flowers hers are always hand made and edible. She has been my go to for all of my special occasions although she dose get very busy lol so make sure to contact her well in advance! She’s been so lovely and her cakes really are top of the line they’re beautiful and they taste amazing!!!

Been wanting to check this place out for a while. Didn’t disappoint. It was packed but the employees were pretty fast and efficient so it didn’t take long. Beautiful place to have a bagel in the morning. Wood oven bagels with fresh toppings. You can even buy bagels by itself for home. I got 2 turkey bagels for $26 including tax. I’ll definitely be back.

After visiting the Tulip Park, I randomly searched for a nearby café and stumbled upon Kettlemans Bagel. With a solid 4.4 rating and over 3,200 reviews, I figured I had to give it a try. When I arrived, I was instantly impressed by the variety of bagel sandwiches on the menu. I’m usually decisive, but even I was held captive by the choices for a good five minutes. In the end, I went with a classic bagel and a fully vegetarian bagel sandwich. I poured myself a cup of medium roast coffee—free refills, by the way, which is always a plus. Fresh milk and cream are self-serve. The coffee was decent and fairly priced, which felt just right. The atmosphere inside was calm and cozy: just four people dining in, two tourists like me, and two elderly locals—one doing a crossword puzzle, the other watching the news on a tablet. The kind of place where one cup of coffee can last you all day. The WiFi is fast, and there’s a light, pleasant aroma in the air. That aroma? It’s the scent of fresh bagels being baked in an open oven, right in front of you. The dough is hand-rolled and baked on site, which means the bagels are warm, fresh, and bursting with flavor. The sesame topping was especially fragrant. The dining area is completely separate from the shop and seems designed to open up like a street-side café when the outer gates are lifted—very inviting setup. The classic bagel was dense and chewy with a toasty flavor that reminded me of Chinese sesame flatbreads, but softer and more elderly-friendly. Fresh bagels, you can watch them being made. Rolled, boiled and baked in wood fired oven. Different kinds like garlic, everything, pumpernickel, chocolate? Etc. They got bagel sandwiches, coffee, drinks, chips, etc, too. I guess they don't add salt in bagels, it requires cream cheese, condiments or chips.

Lots of yummy bagels to eat as sandwiches or take away and construct at home. It's great to watch them being made. The seats outside were a bit weird, they can't be moved, so a bit uncomfy. Service a bit slow as staff quite busy with the bagel production. Chocolate bagel had very few Chocolate chips. The Kettleman's Special was delicious.

You were supposed to get an oven roasted sandwich but, The bagel King, the chicken was tasteless and almost uncooked and cold. You pay $14, for bagel sandwich, not worth it. The ambient is nice and the place is open late.

Picked up a drip coffee and tiramasu cupcake while on a morning walk and so glad I did! Cupcake tasted amazing, just the perfect amount of sweetness and so soft yet rich. Their drip coffee also tasted very fresh. Highly recommend this place.

I had big expectations going in. We skipped dessert at a restaurant just to be able to try the cupcakes here. I bought a pack of 6 and right off the bat I need to mention that it is pricey. The cake itself was dry for all the cupcake. The only one that wasn't dry was the carrot cake one. Will not be trying again.

I assure you, the cupcakes I have been receiving of late do not resemble the photos of the cupcakes I have posted below and are dry and definitely not fresh. I am a baker and have successfully run my own bakery in the US and can distinguish between the “flakes on the icing” and a dry crumbling cupcake. —————————————————————————— Edit-December 24,2022 I feel my initial review below from two years ago is no longer relevant today. I remain a loyal customer of the cupcake lounge but my last 7 orders have been terrible. Every single time I order the chocolate cupcakes with chocolate frosting it’s been dry to the extent that the frosting isn’t smooth but rather flakes and crumbles. Gone are the days where fresh cupcakes are served. They also no longer taste as good as they used too. —————————————————————————— Initial review 2020- We’ve tried numerous items on their menu and it’s all delicious. Our favorite is the chocolate chocolate cupcakes. They also have really nice DIY kits that make a really good activity for kids on a weekend. We’ve tried the cookie and the cupcake DIY kits and they come with everything needed and it’s lots of fun for kids( and adults!)

Our experience here was ok. I bought two cupcakes and asked if one of them were chocolate and the sales person said no. Lo and behold when I bit into it after leaving it was chocolate. We came in towards the end of the day so there were not many options left. In addition to that, the cupcakes had a thick layer of icing and were very sweet. Definitely not worth the price and for a place in the Byward I would've expected better quality and service. I've had better cupcakes, service, and prices at vegan spots.

Cupcakes are still delicious but I learned the hard way to not order any matcha latte or be severely disappointed. Their matcha latte was made from a powder and tasted overly sweet. Not at all what I expected for $4

We stopped by here today to get something to eat at home for a birthday celebration, we just ate them and. Oh. My. God. SO DELICIOUS. The cake is so light and fluffy and moist. The frosting felt like eating a cloud, it was delicious. The whole time we ate them we couldn’t stop talking about them. 100/10, 100% would recommend!

We got a dozen cupcakes of various flavours and we were more then pleased with how light and delicious they were!! The strawberry and raspberry frosting were clearly fresh and incorporated actual fruit in them! We even went around shopping for a few hours and when we got home they were still delicious. They were a wonderful treat for my sister's birthday 🎂 :). [our only critique is that the sprinkles on the strawberry cupcakes were a bit tough]

The cupcake lounge has the most delicious cupcakes. Whenever I am downtown Ottawa I always make sure to stop in and grab some! When I got engaged, I knew I had to have them make our wedding cake. They did such a beautiful job and it was so tasty!

The selection is impressive, and the service is fantastic, but the pricing is high (and this goes for all the cupcake places in Ottawa). Tried the peanut butter (good), and the strawberry cheesecake (not bad). They also offer "day old" cupcakes at a reduced price. It's pretty good, so I would recommend dropping by if you're in the market.

Definitely worth a visit if you're in the area — great coffee, great food, and a cozy atmosphere to match. The latte was excellent — smooth, well-balanced, and clearly made with care. Definitely one of the better ones I’ve had in the city. What impressed us most were the vegetarian options. They had a thoughtful variety, and everything we tried was flavourful and satisfying.

This bakery offers a warm atmosphere and has a charm. The breakfast sandwich was pleasant and something I hope to recreate at home :) Being a montreal-native, I will say that the croissant is quite dense and might not meet your expectations. The smoothie, however, was refreshing and brings much joy.

I ordered four Pumpkin Spice Lattes here and unfortunately they were almost undrinkable extremely bitter and loaded with cinnamon or pumpkin syrup. When we mentioned it, the staff said it was their first time making the drink and admitted they probably didn’t get the proportions right, which we completely understood. What disappointed us was the service after that. When we explained the drinks were not drinkable, there was no apology, no offer to remake them, and no refund—just a shrug as if it didn’t matter. Everyone can make a mistake, but good customer service is about how you handle it. Sadly, this experience left a really poor impression.

This breakfast sandwich is the best I’ve ever had. If there were an award for the best cut and organized sandwich, they would win. It tasted delicious, and the people at the cash register were so nice. They have tons of options, from healthy to delicious treats. Highly recommend!

Spicy bean wrap was super delicious. I asked without cheese to make it vegan instead of vegetarian. It came with a side of cut veggies (were they pickled or dressed as well?) I also got an oat milk americano coffee and its was super delicious. Didn't even need the milk. The coffee was bold and sweet enough on its own. Unique brewing method used too to make it stronger, I think the grinds were less filtered as I can feel some of them. Loved the change. Almost like a mix between Turkish and regular western coffee.

The omelette and croissant were so good!!! Service was great, everyone was attentive The cappuccino with oat milk didn't taste as well as I had heard 😔

This is a cozy little spot for authentic Italian sweets. They’ve got a big variety of pastries, cakes, chocolates, and other treats, everything feels like it was made by someone’s Italian grandma lol. They might not look super fancy, but they taste amazing. The place is also known for its gelato, though I didn’t get a chance to try it this time. The staff were friendly and helpful, patiently explaining what’s in each item. I was really happy with what I ordered and will definitely be back to try more. The vibe is warm and homey, kind of like being at grandma’s house. There are a few tables in the back, and some paid street parking nearby.

Advertising cannoli "made fresh"but that's not the case. "Summer drinks" (strawberry daiquiri and "blue raspberry martini") seemed taken right out of the most complicated recipe book, three staff to figure out the recipes despite being on the menu. Served in the least probable glasses for such drinks. Two other clients behind us ordering coffees and that also seemed to be highly confusing. Perhaps ensuring staff is trained on menu items prior to advertising them.

Been coming here for years just for the gelato- some of the best around! The pastries (savoury & sweet) are also delicious and staff are always kind & courteous. If you’re in little Italy, definitely check it out!

Today was our first visit at the bakery but won't be our last! The staff were wonderful, the food was PHENOMENAL! You have to go and give them a try! They have a little something for everyone! Hot fresh crepes, sausage rolls that were amazing I might add, I tried the strawberry cream croissant which was so rich and I couldn't stop eating it, my husband got the strawberry cheesecake and was loving every forkful! We brought home some cinnamon rolls and a caramel cream croissant for later! There were so many choices though!

I drove all the way to Kanata about 30 minutes from where I live. Excited cause I thought there’s a new local French bakery in town. Oh, I’m very much disappointed. The place doesn’t have that warm ambience, as you walk in, there is one or two staff. People are waiting in queue holding their Panini or baguette for takeout. Standing like a sore thumb. They don’t know how to accommodate their customers, they are not organized, in other words they have no proper system! I felt like I’m eating in a food court actually food court is better! Their food is tasteless! And I agree with the other previous comments, that their pastries are previously frozen cause what I bought was not fresh at all. The place is also surrounded with clear refrigerators and freezers. Think of it like walking in M&M meet Shops without Brand name. Except M&M has a better service.

I heard about this place @ CBC radio show a while ago and I finally had an opportunity to check this place out. Eat in cafe and take out food options. There were a lot of frozen meal options to purchase, like pie, tarts, cheesecake, scones, dainish, quiche, pasta, lasagna, and such. They all looked amazing. A bit pricy though. Variety of cakes and tarts in the display fridge. They all looked pretty and delicious . I bought a few to try. The cakes were overly too sweet for our liking unfortunately. The mango chocolate cake was too dry and disappointing. I bought some frozen meals and I am looking forward to trying them later.

What a great place! Get our family cakes there all the time and have really enjoyed their blueberry lemon tart too – to die for. Met new owner today and she seems like a really nice person. Have also noticed that the store has a much better supply of products since the ownership change. Can’t wait to go in this week for my weekly treat! Would recommend for sure!

I was very excited to find this little French Bakery online, the desserts looked fantastic. I bought 3 pretty ones and brought them home for my daughter and I to try. There wasn't a single one that was any good. The only edible one was a pistachio-raspberry tart. And even that was disappointing. They reminded me of frozen cakes that had been thawed out, and there also wasn't much flavour. The worst of them was the lemon meringue cheesecake. Also while we were there, we noticed the owner sitting down at a table having a coffee, while 2 young employees were running back and forth trying to take care of a huge lineup of customers, he could have at least run the cash for them. Or boxed some cakes for customers. I do understand that people need to take breaks during the day, but, as the owner of a business you shouldn't sit and not only make your customers wait, but also watch your young employees struggle to keep up with a line.

Visited for Saturday brunch and had B6 and B9 from their Crepe menu - both delicious and quite enjoyable. Cappuccino had the perfect amount of milk froth and whatever coffee beans they use are sure of good quality, for the cappuccino is a sure winner in their otherwise small hot coffee offerings. We also had the Raspberry Chocolate Ganache Tart and the Mango Shortcake - and no surprises they were both good with the mango Shortcake the preferred and more favoured by our party for its freshness and taste. But that being said the tart was really good too. Giving it 4 stars and a little less on the service for I had an offer through their Facebook promotion which had no t&c attached but when I tried redeeming it at the till out came all sorts of rules - really disappointed by the lack of transparency. Did I walk out without purchase - no. But did that mar the experience - absolutely yes! I dislike businesses/ brands that try and be sneaky or are not transparent with their customers - not acceptable! Would I visit again - probably yes, for the food is good but would I shout about them from the rooftops - definitely no!

Had the Black Forest cake last time and it was delicious. However, today I went in and got the strawberry breeze cake and it was wet and dense inside. It’s not fresh at all and probably days if not weeks old or thawed from frozen. It was inedible and I had to throw it away. For $7.99 plus tax, it is unacceptable and a complete waste of money. I will never be back again.

I work near Wellington and decided to walk down the street before my shift started. I entered to see what it was and I was pleasantly surprised! The place has cozy decoration and a sweet smell that fills the room. I had an almond croissant and a blue cheese ficelle that were both amazing:) I recommend it !

Best bakery in Ottawa and always consistent. They now offer different catering services and they are very reasonable considering they actually make everything! There's also a high tea menu that requires 1 or 2 days in advance but also seems great!

I am usually very happy with everything from here, but that was all the tomato you could afford to put on my sandwich? Don't bother next time, and you can see the two pieces of lettuce i took off as well! Another time, we ordered pistachio croissants to go, and they were over baked and dry like sawdust. Don't cover your over baked croissants in icing sugar, and try to pass them off as servable!

I got an apple danish, the sliced apples were nice and fresh and the pastry was soft and crispy edges. A bit pricey but not bad for treating yourself lol

Unfortunately the pastries and more of a miss than a hit these days. Mami Kouign was dry and tasted like old butter and cookies were all dried out. The bread still beats Cobb down the road.

Got an almond croissant, kouing and raspberry cookie. They were dry and low on flavour, tasted more like bread than a pastery. Icing sugar doesn't make it better. I'd call this an "americanized" version of a French bakery. Staff was very kind and service was quick. Try Oddo right accross the bridge, it's in a league above.

I had to get the woman's attention from her phone to service us. There's no labels on anything. I got a croissant and apple turnover. The pastry was tough and not flaky (poor lamination). The tarts in the display case were likely not made that day.. annoying there was no place to sit inside despite having the space for a table or two.

I recently visited this charming French bakery and was delighted by the quality of their pastries—especially the éclair, which was hands down one of the best I’ve ever had. The choux pastry was light and perfectly baked, with a rich, silky filling and a glossy chocolate glaze that struck just the right balance between sweet and indulgent. However, I was surprised (and admittedly a bit disappointed) to find that they don’t offer croissants. For a French bakery, this felt like a notable omission. It would’ve been nice to enjoy a classic buttery croissant alongside my coffee. That said, what they do offer is clearly made with care and expertise. If you’re an éclair enthusiast or simply looking for a well-crafted treat, this place is worth the visit. Just don’t come in expecting the full spectrum of French staples.

This place has gone downhill since the pandemic. Used to make the best success cake. Nowadays they don’t include almonds on it and doesn’t taste as good. Suspect the baker has changed. Costs over $40 too. Overrated

I love the wonderful smell of this place! They have the best baguettes and the best chocolate mousse cake! 😌 However croissants and some sweet baked treats are a bit too heavy for my taste and miss some fluffiness. I still highly recommend it.

Very good croissant and breads. As several have mentioned, the service isn't the best and the man at the cash makes yo you feel like you're inconveniencing him. I haven't tried the pastries, but their croissants and breads are very good. I've been coming here for years, and if you can get over the mediocre service, you'll enjoy the baked goods.

The service killed this establishment for us. First of all, no seating, dirty exterior and above all the lady that was at the counter. When we walked in she was playing with a customer’s dog. I respect that you love dogs; but when serving peoples food, maybe reconsider. After she played with the dog, she went to wash her hand(plus pointa) but then when we was back, I saw her scratching her belly under her shirt!!! Here’s a croissant with a side of eczema?!! Come on. Get your act together!

Small bakery just a couple of streets away from the bustling Byward Market. They have a variety of French pastries that are made fresh on site and it smelled amazing. We ended up grabbing breakfast pastries and coffee here twice on our trip to Ottawa, service was very friendly, pastries were delicious and safety protocols were in place. Will definitely visit again next time we come to Ottawa.

I guess the days of pretty tea cups, dollies, cloth napkins & tablecloth, etc are done?! Cold stoneware just doesn't offer the ssme "high tea" vibe/feeling. The pots of tea were small in size, no ambiance whatsoever, service, sandwiches were just ok. Macaroons, amazing!! Towards end of our tea, the amount of noise coming from the the staff cleaning up was incredibly loud!! Price for experience; not worth it. I would only come back for the macaroons!

I have been visiting this gorgeous little cafe for about a month now, I haven't had a chance to share my experience until now. WOW! Service and food are all 5 Star. There signature macaroons are absolutely amazing! Delightful flavors and packaging sure to surprise and please the most discerning palate. The decor is so sweetly done, beautiful antiques and a variety of table sizes and styles tucked into the perfectly private nook or a sunlit spot in the front to watch the world go by. The dark haired young lady who has served me several times greets me by name. Highly recommend you drop by on a visit to Westboro. Finally got in for sit in breakfast! Had the spinach, egg and cheese crape, mouthwatering!

Great experience here. Went with 3 adults and 2 kids - I really liked how there were tailored food options for the kids. The teas were amazing and the macarons were so fresh and flavourful. I could rave about the food all day long. If you're looking for a more casual "high tea" experience, I definitely recommend coming here.

This afternoon my friend and I came to this cozy cafe for Classic Afternoon tea service. Marisol quickly seated us in a quiet corner of the cafe. She explained our choices very well and made some recommendations. I was very pleased with the variety of choice I had for high tea. The tea was delicious - so was the petite sandwiches. The clotted cream was heavenly (my favourite) with my blueberry scone. Overall, we had a relaxing delicious lunch and didn't feel rushed. I finished my meal with my personal highlight: the outrageously delicious salted caramel brownie! We were too full to have the macaroons, which we brought home to enjoy later. I highly recommend Quelque Chose. Next time, I'll plan to visit on Wednesday afternoon for bogo 50% -- what a deal!! My only regrete is I failed to take a photo of our tower of goodies - Next time!

Best I’ve tried in ages. Girlfriend bought a pack and I ended up taking most of her pack. Each flavour of Macaron clearly has a true flavour. Something like their lavender tastes like they got the real flower to crush into their mix. The right balance of sweet and delicate. 10/10

3.5/5 overall. We came for afternoon tea as part of a birthday celebration. Waited about 50 minutes for our tower of food to come, by that time our teapots were lukewarm. Cafe wasn't busy, only two other tables for lunch, it seemed like they didn't have enough staff to do tea service and keep up with walks ins and UberEats orders. We were happy with the food and tea, but didn't think it was worth $48/person plus tax and tip. Thankfully they have a bogo 50% deal on Wednesdays.

We had a nice Afternoon Tea for two guests earlier this month. The savoury sandwiches were on fresh bread and tasted good. The scone tasted VERY good, very buttery and flaky but there was no clotted cream for the scone. A croissant was also served. I also enjoyed the two cakes that were served with the Afternoon Tea. This is a very casual simple tea experience (it's not a fancy venue) but worth a visit.

We came here on a cool Friday evening and the line was down the street… so we went around the side to the window where you can buy pints and got ice cream there. We got pumpkin spice, cotton candy, and cinnamon sugar. First time having their ice cream and found it to be very good. Not overly sweet. Flavors were just right in their intensity. Certainly recommend!

I’m not exaggerating when I say this is by far the VERY BEST ice cream place I’ve ever tried across every country I’ve been to. The amount of effort and passion that The Merry Dairy staff and owners put into their ice cream flavours and ingredients is beyond phenomenal. You can taste the freshness and quality of the ingredients they use, they diversify and change up their flavours while still maintaining perfect harmony and balance for each new flavour and their vanilla frozen custard is out of this world! I just wish they could franchise while maintaining their top notch quality that I admire so deeply. I’m writing my review from Qatar right now cause that’s how much I’ve missed this place 💛

Well renown as the best ice cream in the city. About a dozen ice cream by the scoop, at least half of which are vegan. No dyes or other crap used in making it either. On this day the soft serve was available out back in a truck. The fridge is also packed with frozen treats and the ice cream sandwiches look amazing.

A nice neighbourhood ice cream shop! It's great to support local when you can! There was a bit of a line but it went pretty fast. Lots of flavours to choose from. I had Trash Panda and it's not a flavour I ever experienced at any other ice cream place. Quite a few vegan options, which is nice. I'm not vegan but it's nice for vegans to have ice cream options. Parking is challenging. Just street parking that's available.

Awesome tasty ice cream, probably one of the best in town. Line up for the ice cream truck was fairly long but it's always worth it. Great friendly service and fair pricing too! Highly recommend 👌

Edit: years later, we ordered from him again, but this time he completely messed up our order. The cake was dry and he even forgot to write Happy Birthday for our daughters bday cake. We emailed to let him know and he never even replied. Lastly, he charged use like 150$ with delivery for cake for like 20 people. DO NOT Recomend anymore. We had our wedding last month and we bought a 2 layer cake from this place. We had a chocolate cake with caramel filling and the whole outside was icing and designed like a tree stump. It looked amazing and tasted even better. It was so moist and we had left overs for days after and it stayed fresh the whole time. They delivered perfectly on time at the venue as well. Highly recommend!

Cheesecake not as advertised. The look was not exactly as the photo depicted on their website since the picture does not indicate chocolate sprinkles but that's certainly something to look past. The part that lowers their score is the fact that the insides were not white chocolate and the crust was certainly not chocolate crumb. They know how to make a cheesecake because it was certainly nice and rich but I just think they should update to what it is in reality. I wanted something that was classy and different and this wasn't it.

You're paying a lot for aesthetics ONLY! The cake was overcooked and very dry - I've made tastier cakes from a DuncanHines box. We paid for marble but received chocolate. Everyone from children to grandparents agreed - the icing was excessively sweet. Had to pay for delivery as pick-up is not an option - paid for delivery between 9am-noon, but the cake didn't arrived until after 4:30pm (when we called and asked where our cake was?). Maybe they forgot to make it and gave us the display model.... would explain the taste!

Delightful Tastes was amazing! They were listed as one of the "preferred vendors" from my venue, but a co-worker also recommended them from her wedding. So glad we scheduled this tasting, because out of 5 cake places we tried, Delightful Tastes had the best cake. It was very moist, so you almost don't even need frosting. We went with Vanilla and Chocolate classic, and it was SO delicious. We did have a minor issue with our previous consultant leaving and not including all the design details, but I received a call back from the owner to ensure it was all resolved prior to the wedding, and he offered to provide the cake stand complimentary for the mix-up. Very pleased with the service and, of course, the cake!

I bought the Strawberry Cake that was available in shop. The look of the cake was spot, the inside of the cake tasted incredibly good, filled with a jam-like consistency. Though the icing itself just tasted like pure butter. (Edited review as I'm not the one who bought the cake and did not know that it was in fact buttercream.) Also got some of the double chocolate gluten free cookies, those tasted good, would recommend them. Overall I would return, especially for the rare gluten free options, but I would never get the strawberry cake again.

With a week's notice, I ordered a vegan cake and a dozen cupcakes from this nut-free bakery for my son's birthday. The food was wonderful: light, fresh, and packed with flavor. The customer service was also excellent, with the "icing on the cake" being their ability to deliver my order. I would not hesitate to order from them again and have recommended them to my friends.

The service is really fast. The Assistant Manager has got really good leadership skills. The store is managed in a really good way when he is on the floor. The food and the drinks are prepared maintaining proper hygiene standards.

I asked for an iced capp and these dips gave me a liquid cap, no cap on god fr! 😤💯 It's also very filthy inside and I often see bugs in the glass eating and slurping the food .

This store was really impressive . Fast service in a rush, super clean facilities & Keegan who was being trained was not only very polite, but it was nice to see his coworkers helping and supporting him. Felt like the same quality of customer service from 10 years ago, very nice to experience.

The staff are great in my opinion. They’re polite, but anytime I go there with my service dog, something always bad happens, customers will step on my dog, or touch him and the staff don’t seem to do anything. lots of homeless people or people doing drug drops, it feels so unsafe. Half of customers are people just wanting to grab their coffee and go to work, the other half are homeless, loud, and unsafe customers. So it feels very difficult to go there. 🫠😬

I love going to this Tim Hortons. The staff is so hard working and always smiling especially Rajat, the assistant manager. He serves customers like guests.The staff follows safety standards in a good manner.

Small nice shop. On Sunday, the tables weren't cleared or cleaned, there was a kid just standing over there. Got the cream cheese bun, just ok, some rice pudding thing - didn't like that much. They have more french bakery items than Japanese items. Got coffee icecream, that was fine. Small place with 4 tables or so. Service is poor. Food sub par. Costly too for the fare offered.

Cozy shop. Smooth jazz. Got a regular cheese bun on a summer weekend evening with friends. Costed around $8-9. It was yummmm! Not too sweet and not heavy, left me craving for more.

Fantastic, puffy and bouncy Japanese cheesecakes, I can’t recommend them enough. I loved their matcha and plain flavors but they have a bunch of variety to try. Loved their soy sesame cake in a box too! I love that their desserts weren’t overly sweet and you can actually taste the flavors and the delicate fluff of the cake without being overpowered by the sweetness. They have a bunch of other bakery items that we didn’t get to try but based on the cheesecake, I assume they will be good too. They take debit or cash or p2p transfer so be prepared to figure it out if you don’t have those or are visiting from outside Canada. They will take credit through square but you gotta push them because they have the app installed but maybe don’t use that too frequently. Overall highly recommended for Japanese cheesecakes in Ottawa.

I walked in because I saw a sign saying Japanese/French baked goods... I didn't see any Japanese baked goods there. So I bought a $10 shortcake. It wasn't that good. The lady serving me was not friendly, got impatient. Chinese staffed, Chinese style baked, goods (I'm Chinese, just found it misleading to go to a Japanese bakery to find no Japanese baked goods) I'm sure they have some good pastries there, but it's not Japanese. My experience wasn't enjoyable, the name is misleading, and I felt I paid more than what I got...

I always get their baguettes which are the best i have ever eaten. Crunchy on the outside and soft in the middle and the flavour of the dough completes the hat trick. Their coconut cookies are also amazing. Everything is delicious!

Incredible quality sourdough bread, if you can get it. Their hours are limited, so I called multiple times before going (over an hour before close), but they do not answer. I biked all the way there to be told that every bread that I wanted was sold out. I ended up having to go to another business to purchase True Loaf bread at a marked up price due to them not having their own breads. And on top of that, the bread I was able to find was not the type I was looking to purchase either, but it is still very good. EDIT: I emailed in advance to reserve bread cor pick up and was able to get the types of bread I wanted. Everything is amazing quality as usual!

The seed bread is my favourite. I make a special trip to the bakery every few weeks to pick it up. Freezes well. Wonderful, high quality breads and service … get there early : )

For many years, True Loaf has been the best bakery in the city. Their original decadent bun was one of the best buns I’ve ever had. The original coco chilli bun was so good we would bring it as a gift to friends. Sadly the quality of all their breads has degraded substantially. Gone are the crispy exteriors with perfect chew, I don’t know what has changed but the products have all changed for the worse and they are quickly becoming just another bakery. The prices have also been increasing regularly, which would be fine if the quality wasn’t going in the other direction. My visit last week is probably my last.

When I was in my 2nd year of undergraduate studies, I would come here early in the morning for a baguette and have it as a breakfast before my first class once a week. I still like to drop by for bread and cookies and chocolate chip brioches. Wonderful place with delicious breads and great service. I wish they were open a little longer but I also get that its a bakery and they tend to have different hours. Overall, a lovely spot.

Excellent artisinal bread at True Loaf Bread Company. I love all their products, and recommend the seasonal specialties too, like the Christmas stollen, the Easter hot cross buns, delicious hamburger buns for summer...all made with great expertise and the highest quality ingredients. Treat yourself to really good bread!

We've tried desserts from this place before and they were of decent quality. However, this time we were highly disappointed by the croissant that was offered by them. Just because you made the dough into the shape of the croissant doesn't make it a croissant. It tasted like a regular white bread and completely lacked the flakiness/flavour you find even from the premade dough from Costco. There seems to be a complete lack of understanding in what a croissant is! The worst part was they were charging $4 for this supposed "croissant".

Absolute disapointment. My husband wanted to surprise me with great pastry/desert. I am not recommending this place at all. We had opera cake, mango mouse, chocolate mouse and a coffee something. The opera house cake had zero taste; more like shedded cardboard. The mango mouse, ugh, unfortunately, the consistency of vomit in your mouth. The chocolate mouse was like a jello chocolate pudding your mom put in your lunch with added cacao powder to make it seem like it was quality. My husband asked for the best sellers. Unfortunately, the best sellers were inedible. My husband was so disappointed, he threw it in the garbage. Waste of $30. We don’t mind spending money going out or buying local quality food, but this isn’t worth it. I will keep making better pastry and desert.

LOVE IT! It has become my only choice for cakes. Especially for special occasions. They have a wide veriety of cakes and selections of pastries and friendly and helpful staff. The cakes are frozen and they tell you to have it out to defrost for 2 hours, so make sure to get the cakes ahead of time. Price is the same for all cakes. It is 27 for the small ones, and 34 for the large one. Maybe a bit pricey but it is 100% worth it

I had zero knowledge of this business when I called them from out of town to deliver a fruit arrangement to my mom for her birthday. Wow, did I ever get lucky! It was a beautiful arrangement and she loved it! Delivery was easy as well.

Classic elegance was well put together. The chocolate covering the strawberries was a bit too sweet to my fiancé’s liking but overall he liked the fruit arrangement. The fruits were fresh. The only real negative was the delivery. The driver didn’t call and left it on the wrong doorstep. If the driver would have called the phone # on file, that could have been avoided. The neighbor had to let my fiancé know that he had a delivery since it was supposed to be a surprise. Next time, please call the # on file so that it can be HANDED.

I loved the chocolate covered strawberries. The strawberries were fresh, not mushy at all. I also ordered the chocolate covered oreos after reading the reviews. I wasn't so sure about them, but WOW! I had to force myself to eat 1 per day to make them last. 😀

Got a latte and a breakfast sandwich, I would rate the taste and quality slightly above average. This place was strongly recommended to me, so I walked in with high expectations, but the outcome fell short of that. This is by no means bad, but not as special as I thought.

Every friday they offer a different choice of mini cakes , I found them adorable and perfect to make someone’s day . Each cake is 6$ or you can choose to get the 4 of them that is around 20$ . They also have a different sandwich every friday . You can look what they would have for the upcoming friday in their instagram page . The service was good and the food was delicious.

A tiny small iced latte was 8$. I’ve been to other Morning Owl franchises and their cups were way bigger for the same exact price. 3/4 of the coffee was ice. I went into the coffee shop thinking I could use the washroom. I saw a lady using the washroom so I thought if I bought the drink (it was a horribly made coffee btw) I could use the washroom. Then as I made my way to the washroom the cashier tells me that I cannot use the washroom. I made it very clear that I bought the drink to use the washroom but the cashier insisted that I cannot use the washroom. Mind you, he let another lady before me use it. I do wonder if he didn’t let me use it since I wasn’t white. The lady he let use was white. He mentioned that it wasn’t opened to the public but I previously bought the drink one second ago so shouldn’t that make me a customer?

Lovely coffee place! Was super busy when I walked in with only one person attending to the long line. Even still my drink was made perfectly and delivered with a smile!

Great spot for coffee or tea. They carry baked goods from Maverick, and have breakfast options in the morning. Hours are catered to the government workers in the area. Very cute cafe but limited seating! Dumpling Park behind it is worth checking out for lunch!

It’s quite pricy (got a small latte and a muffin for $14) the worker was unfriendly, the muffin was soggy, and my hot latte was lukewarm at best. Would not recommend!

We went for the first time this week and had a great experience. Everything at the bakery is soy and peanut free, and there are a ton of dairy free options as well! The owner, Sue, was super nice and answered all of our questions. She took time to listen to my concerns regarding allergens and was incredibly empathetic. I had a couple of extra questions I forgot to ask while I was there and since my phone was acting up, I emailed Sue twice & she got back to me really quickly both times (15-30 minutes). Everything we tried tasted amazing, especially the brownie! Highly recommend and we will definitely be going back!

We drove 35 minutes from Downtown Ottawa thinking we would buy a gluten free panini we saw on google maps, when we arrived we learned it they where selling them just during covid... it was a bit of a deception because they looked succulent. Despite a very dry service, it almost felt we were not welcome there... we understood the clientele is composed of very fragile people and the owner was very cautious to protect them. We bought an amazing foccacia bread and i must admit everything in the bakery looked absolutely delicious. Seems like one amazing place if you are looking for gluten free options or if you are having many alergies like I do. An Amazing place.

Probably the worst customer service ever The health care department should inspect this matter. The lady put her hand on the cookie and put it in a bag when i want to check out, she should have wear gloves and she asked me to put the money inside a bag so she is very careful about herself but not about customers sanitation. not even smile or welcome. I should have read the reviews before buying . There is no wonder why very few people enter this store.

Hello, We’ve came to the bakery thinking that it would be a great time and look around for some goodies since we like desert. As I came I didn’t feel welcoming which is an important part of the customer service. Just smiling and say hi. What is something important as a person that took food handling is that there’s a way of putting the desert in box to make sure that it is sanitary with gloves or tonsils or a wrapping paper. For someone that worked in food industry we all learn that it is a basic that we learn since the beginning and it is necessary for the health of everyone and every customers. Which was not the cas for us, all the desert was taken by hand which is not sanitary. The dessert were all put in one box which it can mix the flavours of each squares. I would recommend putting one layer in the box or add one parchemin paper between the first and second layer. Thanks for serving the gluten free community in your area .

What a lovely experience walking into this shop. In supporting local businesses and expanding to all gluten free options it was exciting checking out this place. With a HUGE selection of fresh foods both savoury and sweet, I was greeted by Sue who was endearing and kind. She provided an in-depth explanation of ingredients used and her wholistic philosophy on locally owned businesses. The atmosphere is gentle and relaxing and I look forward to heading back for a savoury pie and more sweet yum! Thank you kindly!

After my visit to a spa in the same strip mall, I decided to get some snacks. While waiting for my sushi, the store next door “The Joy of Gluten Free” seemed intriguing. It’s my first visit. I was the only one and immediately I felt something was off. It took perhaps a few minutes for her to acknowledge me which she proceeded saying she’s going to open the door. As a visible minority, I immediately thought that was the issue. Anyway I wanted to just get something and get out. I picked my three cookies. Then she asked me to put my debit card in a box and gave me a pair of gloves to wear. I was okay with that as Covid is still around. My daughter pointed out that the person wrote on the brown bag: “Our shop is scent free due to allergies.” Wow. It would have been nice if she could have said it nicely when I was there instead of being passive aggressive. I have children with severe asthma, peanuts allergies and many other environmental allergies. I appreciate and understand the concern. However I cannot control what scent I may have absorbed by being outside. My suggestions: 1. Invest in a LARGER bold sign that say “100% scent free store” — in the meantime wear a mask and a face shield for your protection. 2. Upgrade your Point of Sale machine to accept tap to save on plastic gloves. 3. Be friendlier so that the joy will come through to reflect the store’s name. We all have problems in our life. A little joy will make the world a better place. On a positive note, the gluten free double choco cookie and the choco chip cookies were good. Since the owner responded. I will add this. Yes we the customers are your guests and we have to follow the rules as you say like as if we were at Hotels or Disney. Then you as the business owner shall follow the rules how to treat your G.U.E.S.T: Greet — Greet whomever walks through your door right away. Let them know that you are excited that they came to your store. Understand your customers. Expedite their requests. Smile — Use your body language to tell your customers you are happy they are shopping at your store. Regardless of how mundane our jobs may become, your store may be an escape for your customers and you want it to continue to be. Be happy! Thank your customers for their business — Your customers not only have options of where to spend their money in the world, but more and more outside forces are competing for that discretionary income as well. Your customer decided to give you a chance at earning his or her business and you should step up and earn it! Thank them for giving you the business, or for at least giving you the chance. Hotels and Disney go above and beyond to make their guests/customers feel welcome. :)

The chicken pot pie is delicious! Really helps to have an easy meal that’s gluten free (daughter is celiac) for the week when you’re in a pinch. Thanks again!

Cookies are really good and big. Even after days of getting them the cookies were still soft and moist. It can be easily shared on how big the cookies are, approximately the size of my palm. Some of the flavours are really sweet tho, I am personally not a big fan of sweets so for me it was abit too much. It's better to go pick up some cookies way before closing because if not you won't have all the flavours left. We got 6 cookies for 24$.

Great service. We got there only 10-20 minutes after opening and plain chocolate chips cookies were already sold out! Our favourite was the smoker doodle and mini eggs.

Decent place. The cookie was very large and almost the size of my palm. I ordered the old fashioned chocolate chip cookie. It’s crunchy and a bit dry on the outside and soft inside. I expected it to be more sweet and also there were less chocolate chips. I have had better chocolate chip cookies. I am interested to try red velvet cookie if I am around this area.

Half a dozen and it was the heaviest half dozen I’ve ever felt! Options were amazing and they were not too sweet! Definitely will be coming back

WOW! I've been wanting to go to Chippers for months ever since I heard of it and it did not disappoint! Breaking those cookies in half literally made my week. The bakery is a cute lil space with room for just those massive cookies and a couple customers. I'd just like to say the value for money for these cookies is unbeatable! You are getting SO much cookie for only $3.50 each. They have walk in discounts for dozen and half dozen cookies too! When I picked up my box it sure was hefty and it was fun to share and try all the flavours. One cookie is more than enough to keep me satisfied and just keep in mind the cookies are quite sweet which is understandable since that's the tradeoff for that cakey, soft, gooey texture. I can't wait to be back to try more flavours and other desserts!
