The Canadian War Museum, located in a modern building, is dedicated to preserving and showcasing Canada's military history. The museum pays tribute to the country's involvement in various conflicts such as the French and Indian War, World War I, and World War II. Designed by Raymond Moriyama, it houses over 3 million artifacts including artillery, uniforms, medals, documents, recordings and rare vehicles.
The Canadian War Museum in Ottawa is truly a must-visit if you’re in the city. It’s a place filled with so much history and information, offering a deep and meaningful look into Canada’s past. The museum is very well-organized and presents our great Canadian history in an engaging way, with exhibits that are both educational and moving. What makes it even better is that it’s enjoyable for the whole family. There are great activities for kids and interactive displays that make learning fun and memorable. Every visit feels like a new experience, there’s always something new to learn, discover, or see. We love coming back here, and each time we leave with a greater appreciation of Canada’s history and the sacrifices made. Highly recommended to anyone visiting Ottawa. ⸻ Do you want me to make it sound more like a short Google review (punchy and casual) or a detailed TripAdvisor-style review (longer, with highlights of exhibits)?

$5 tour is worth doing if you have a short time to visit but definitely could spend a whole day here! The cafe is affordable and the outside patio is a good break from the intense subject matter. The veteran's exhibit is a quiet place to contemplate in between learning about war as well. The building itself is a work of art along with the many pieces inside. Go downstairs to see the Viny Ridge plasters for sure and talk to others to gain insight!

After so many years living in the Ottawa Gatineau area I finally decided to visit this museum. I was very much surprised and impressed because I thought it might be a stale atmosphere because of the theme of the museum. I can honestly say it’s very well set up and very nicely organized. If you’re interested in the history of war, this is the place to come. 👍😎

The Canadian War Museum is one of those places that stays with you long after you leave. It’s not just a museum — it’s a powerful journey through Canada’s history, courage, and sacrifice. The moment you walk in, the atmosphere feels calm yet deeply emotional. The architecture alone tells a story, with every corner designed to make you reflect. Each exhibit is beautifully presented, combining personal stories, photos, artifacts, and multimedia in a way that connects you to the people behind the history. You don’t just learn about wars — you feel what Canadians went through. Couldn’t see The Memorial Hall. It’s also a great place for families; children love seeing the tanks, planes, and interactive displays. The museum is spotless, well-organized, and easy to explore at your own pace. The staff are welcoming and knowledgeable, always happy to share insights or answer questions. Whether you’re visiting Ottawa or live nearby, this museum is a must-see. It leaves you with a sense of gratitude and pride for those who served and a reminder of how precious peace truly is.
Faria J — Google review
Great spot to visit on a rainy day. The exhibits are really well laid out and walking through them really felt like you were walking through a network of trenches during the First World War. This museum has lots of really interesting artifacts and war paraphernalia. My one critique would be that they should have a bigger more permanent exhibition dedicated to the minority groups that helped in the war efforts. For example “Force 136.” Otherwise, very much worth a visit if your are a history buff! You might want to give yourself half a day for a proper walk through because there is a lot of information.

The Canadian War Museum in Ottawa offers a powerful and immersive look into Canada’s military history, from early conflicts to modern-day missions. Its exhibits are well-designed, combining artifacts, multimedia, and personal stories that make the experience both educational and emotional. Visitors especially enjoy the impressive displays of tanks, aircraft, and weapons, though the museum can feel overwhelming due to its depth and emotional weight. Overall, it’s a must-visit attraction that inspires reflection and appreciation for Canada’s sacrifices and contributions in war... 🇨🇦

Huge and well curated museum. Separate sections for the main conflicts that Canada has been involved in. We spent several hours and weren't able to finish it all. Great exhibits and information explaining all the context. Cafe is very basic.

A great place to visit if you want to learn more about Canada’s war history. There are many weapons and artifacts on display that vividly tell the story of past conflicts. The environment is clean, spacious, and well-organized, making it an engaging and educational experience.

The Canadian Museum of Nature, housed in a striking Scottish baronial-style building, offers an engaging exploration of natural history. Situated just a short walk from Parliament Hill, this historic museum features permanent galleries showcasing fossils, insects, mammals, birds, and more. Visitors can also enjoy interactive activities and special exhibitions. Notable additions include the Canada Goose Arctic Gallery and the Northern Voices Gallery, offering insights into the Arctic region and perspectives from Northern communities.
You need to give yourself plenty of time to check everything out. We were there for 4 hours and could have stayed longer. You are allowed to leave and go back in. So you can go grab at bite to eat if you want. There are elevators it is 4 stories high. The amount of fossil displays are awesome. They have beautiful displays of wildlife from birds to Polar bears. It wasn't bad in price 58 dollars for 2 adults and a child with the Butterfly exhibit interactions My son who is 35 enjoyed it just as much as my 6 year old granddaughter.

A Fascinating Visit to the Canadian Museum of Nature My family and I recently had the pleasure of visiting the Canadian Museum of Nature, and it was a truly fantastic day out. Located in a striking "castle" that adds to its charm, the museum is an absolute gem for anyone interested in the natural world. The museum's exhibits are incredibly well-designed and captivating. We were all completely engrossed, from the towering dinosaur skeletons in the Fossil Gallery to the live creatures in the "Bugs Alive" and "Pacific Discovery Tank" exhibits. The Mammal Gallery, with its beautifully detailed dioramas, and the Bird Gallery were also huge hits. It's clear that a lot of effort has gone into making the displays engaging and educational for all ages. For families with children, this museum is a must-see. The interactive elements and the sheer wonder of seeing things like a complete blue whale skeleton make it a memorable experience for kids. There are plenty of hands-on activities that keep them entertained while they learn. It's a place where children's natural curiosity can truly be sparked. A word of advice: plan to spend a full day here, or even more if you want to see everything. The museum is much larger than it appears from the outside, with four floors of permanent galleries and various special exhibitions. We spent a good portion of the day exploring and still felt we could have used more time to fully appreciate each section. The history of the planet and its creatures is explained in such a clear and well-organized manner that you won't want to rush through it. The Canadian Museum of Nature is a highly recommended destination for families. It provides a perfect blend of fun and education, and it's a place you'll want to take your time exploring. We left with a newfound appreciation for the incredible diversity of nature, and we're already looking forward to our next visit.

I recently visited the Canadian Museum of Nature and had an amazing time. The museum is well-organized, informative, and filled with fascinating artifacts and exhibits that appeal to both adults and kids. Each section offers something unique-from ancient fossils and minerals to wildlife displays and Indigenous stories that beautifully capture Canada’s natural history. What stood out most was how well the information is presented-clear, engaging, and easy to follow. You can tell a lot of thought and care went into curating each exhibit. The building itself is stunning, with a perfect blend of history and modern design. Overall, it was a fun, educational, and enriching experience. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in Ottawa or simply curious about the wonders of nature!

I visited the Canadian Museum of Nature in Ottawa not long ago, and overall it was a memorable experience — especially for anyone interested in natural history, fossils, and wildlife. The museum is housed in the stately Victoria Memorial Museum Building, which combines heritage architecture (stone, stained glass, carved details) with modern touches like a glass central tower added during renovations. Walking through the galleries, you move through diverse themes: fossils and dinosaurs, mammals, birds, geology, marine life, and Arctic environments. The Fossil Gallery was a highlight — seeing dinosaur skeletons and ancient marine creatures up close gives you a tangible sense of deep time. The Bird Gallery and Mammal Gallery also impressed me with their detailed dioramas and species variety. I appreciated how many exhibits include interactive or “hands-on” elements: the “live” insect / invertebrate displays, touch stations, and immersive storytelling exhibits add energy to the space. Also, temporary and feature exhibits (such as The Man Who Planted Trees) offer fresh perspectives and variety beyond the permanent galleries. On the downside, when I was there the noise level rose in busier rooms, especially with children in tow, which made some exhibits harder to absorb fully. I also found that a few sections seemed slightly dated or in need of refreshment to maintain visitor engagement. I spent around 2½ to 3 hours exploring. For a casual visitor that’s enough to see the highlights; for someone keen on pausing at every exhibit, more time is justified. Overall, the museum offers a rich, educational, and often moving experience. If you’re in Ottawa, it’s absolutely worth a visit.
Sina G — Google review
The butterfly flight was definitely the highlight-such a magical and calming experience! 🦋 Loved how friendly and welcoming the staff were throughout the visit. The museum perfectly blends architecture and nature, offering both beauty and learning in every corner. A must-visit spot for anyone who enjoys exploring science, wildlife, and art all in one place.
Nubi C — Google review
I just went today to go to the laid exhibits...the butterfly exhibit and the immersion "The Man Who Planed Trees" exhibit. Both were amazing. I will be going back in a few days to see all the free exhibits. The museum is amazing! All the staff were very friendly and helpful! I can't wait to see the rest of it!
JE A — Google review
I had so much fun at the museum. It wasn’t what I expected but exceeded my expectations for sure. Buying the tickets online makes your life so much easier. We were able to sign up to both the butterflies and man + trees exhibitions and it was surreal. I honestly would recommend it to everyone to have those visits this summer before it ends because it was so much fun. Take a look at the photos and videos below for more context and a sign for you to pay those tickets and see for yourself
Valentine B — Google review
There were some aspects of the museum that were incredible and very interesting such as the dinosaur exhibit and the blue whale, however some of the rooms were not very interesting or well done. There were some rooms that felt thrown together just to fill space such as the tree and arctic exhibits that was a quick walk through, but it is worth visiting for the other exhibits. It is easy to just go up and buy tickets so no need to buy in advance.

Parliament Hill is a grand and impressive neo-Gothic complex that serves as the home of Canada's legislature. The site features stunning artworks, lush grounds, and offers guided tours for visitors. Notably, it has been the location of significant historical events, including the first Canadian gay protest in 1971 and pivotal legal battles for LGBTQ+ rights. The iconic building is a popular subject for photographs throughout the year, particularly during winter when it presents a quintessential Canadian winter scene.
Nice place to visit, but the parliament building is under construction. So the front was literally closed with cranes so could not get the good pictures. This update should be on google to inform visitors in advance. Also, we came to know that we could actually visit inside the House of Commons, senator building, but free tickets were required and those were no more available. When we search, places to visit in Ottawa, city should make sure to mention that we could visit the inside of these buildings as well. This would have actually made our trip better and more informative if could book the tickets in advance.
J R — Google review
Astounding. The buildings are massive. There's just no way to fully grasp how big these fabulous buildings are without seeing them in person. There was a lot of construction going on, but still worth going. I took the tour of the House of Commons. It was interesting, fun, and educational. Well worth the 40-45 minutes standing & walking. They have stools they provide for you to carry with you is you cannot stand that long. I used one, it was great, sturdy, easy to use & carry.
Cecily B — Google review
Beautiful buildings, many of the buildings were being renovated when we visited. We saw tge parliament of Canada, the Supreme court of Canada, Central Bank buildings, House of Commons (I think), and other important structures. Lot's of tourists. There is a public washroom available which is also accessible for physically challenged. Parking can be done on a nearby street.

Parliament Hill is an iconic symbol of Canada’s history, democracy, and architectural beauty. The stunning Gothic Revival buildings and the scenic views of the Ottawa River make it a must-see destination. Visitors can enjoy guided tours, the ceremonial Changing of the Guard, and the impressive evening light show. Whether day or night, Parliament Hill captures the spirit and pride of the nation beautifully... 🇨🇦

Great tour of the House of Commons. Very informative and the your guide was bilingual which was great. Tour lasted about an hour. Make sure to make reservations in advance or you may not get on the tour time you’d like. Also make sure to have all the proper documentation that is listed on the website. Be prepared to go through a security check similar to what you would at an airport. Tours cost nothing to book. This is a temporary home to the House of Commons until the main block’s construction is complete in 2030/2031.

Had the chance to visit Parliament Hill in Ottawa — an iconic symbol of Canada’s history and democracy. The architecture is remarkable, and the views overlooking the Ottawa River are breathtaking. A truly inspiring place that reflects both heritage and national pride
Sandeep S — Google review
Parliament Hill is a must see when you are in Ottawa. The buildings are beautiful and the architecture is impressive up close. Walking around the grounds is peaceful and you really get a sense of history. It is especially nice in the summer with the views of the river. The only downside is it can get very busy with tourists, but it is still worth the visit. A great spot to take pictures and enjoy the heart of the city.
Mohamed T — Google review
I was stunned in admiration of the Parliament buildings . Beautiful view 😍. I visited over the weekend so I had no access into the building just the surroundings and it’s free access. Just walk around take pictures and videos and admire the structures and seeing the busyness of downtown at night was beautiful as a tourist.

The National Gallery of Canada is one of the gems that Ottawa has to offer. It's a world class gallery that should be on your list of places top visit when in the Nation's Capital. The facility is modern, spacious, well-staffed and has all the amenities you'd expect from one of the largest art museums in North America. With more than 93,000 works of art, as a permanent collection, you're in for a journey around the world enriching your sight and soul with European, American, Asian, Canadian and Indigenous artwork. I highly recommend adding the National Gallery of Canada to your list of must-visit places in Ottawa. You won't regret it.

The National Gallery of Canada in Ottawa is definitely worth a visit. The architecture is stunning, and the atmosphere feels calm and welcoming. You can find everything from famous Canadian artists to thought-provoking modern art, plus the amazing Indigenous art collection. It’s a place where you can spend hours exploring and always discover something new. I have been there two times but still feel i haven’t seen the full.
Faria J — Google review
A beautiful building with convenient parking on site and small coffee shop in the building. 2 floors of art mainly contemporary, indigenous and European art. You will need at least 2-3.5 hours to finish. Very spacious. Clean bathrooms and nice staff.
Julie — Google review
The National Gallery of Canada was excellent, with loads of Group of Seven, indigenous, and other Canadian artists, plus lots of European artists too (including a well-thought-out wall of Van Gogh’s progression as an artist). The restaurant inside is great as well, with lots of ready-made and made-to-order options.
Michelle T — Google review
A must-visit for art lovers and anyone visiting Ottawa. The grand, high-ceilinged architecture and automatic doors left us in awe, making the exhibition space feel even more elegant and enjoyable. It took us about 2–3 hours to explore the entire building and exhibitions. The museum features an excellent collection of contemporary, Indigenous, American, and European artworks and installations. It also offers a beautiful view of Parliament Hill. Inside, you will find a cafeteria, a café, a library, and a gift shop.
Chett J — Google review
Such a beautiful gallery with a WIDE variety of art styles and artists, from contemporary to european to indigenous artists! It was only 2 stories but the floors were MASSIVE. We spent 2-3hrs but defo would’ve spent more if we visited every single room. It has a massive open window panel so the natural light is super beautiful on a sunny day. Would definitely recommend!! There’s also a summer promotion going on right now, so I definitely wouldn’t miss it.

A stunning celebration of art and culture. The architecture alone inspires awe, and the Indigenous and contemporary exhibits beautifully capture Canada’s diverse artistic spirit.

Many wonderful exhibits to see - I always find contemporary art interesting. With that being said, the Canadian art is what I enjoy the most. Plenty of excellent examples from the group of seven and indigenous artists. Be sure to visit the Rideau Chapel while you’re there. Absolutely stunning.

The Canada Aviation and Space Museum, located in Ottawa, offers an impressive and immersive experience for anyone interested in aviation history and aerospace exploration. The museum’s collection spans the early days of flight to modern aircraft, showcasing military planes, civilian aircraft, and iconic space-related exhibits. Visitors will find the exhibits well-organized, with detailed descriptions, photographs, and informative panels that provide historical context. The museum’s scale is considerable, allowing guests to explore aircraft up close and appreciate their design and engineering intricacies. Key highlights include vintage World War I and II planes, experimental aircraft, and Canadian space artifacts. Interactive displays and simulators engage younger visitors and aviation enthusiasts alike, adding an educational dimension to the visit. We came here to use our ASTC Passport. The staff was friendly, handed us a map and told us about the demonstrations that they were going to be doing over the next couple hours. This place is really large and they have a lot of planes, helicopters, and a few ground based vehicles. It can get quite loud since everything echoes in this massive warehouse. Most of the displays are static displays that you will pause to read. A lot of really interesting aviation history going back over 100 years. I was a big fan of the display regarding the engines used in planes. Their kid section is pretty small, so it can get crowded and chaotic. They did have a great demonstration for the kids and adults about how to land a plane. Being able to sit in a cockpit really makes you appreciate what fighter pilots go through. Overall it is a really interesting museum with a lot of interesting planes. It's not really a place I would bring a younger child as there isn't much for them to do and interact with. If you have time to walk and read this is a good place to go.

A High-Flying History: Review of the Canadian Space and Aviation Museum The Canadian Space and Aviation Museum is far more than just a hangar of old planes—it is a truly expansive journey through the country's pioneering efforts in the air and beyond. This museum is an essential visit for anyone interested in the history of flight, technology, or Canadian military heritage. Plan to set aside at least several hours to fully absorb the scale and detail of this magnificent collection. World-Class Collections and Unforgettable Sights The core collection is breathtaking, featuring an amazing assembly of aircraft spanning the entire conception of Canadian aviation. From rugged civilian bush planes that tamed the northern territories to powerful military jets and prototypes, the range is remarkably diverse. A standout feature, and one that makes this museum truly world-class, is the exceptional collection of World War One aircraft. This display offers a rare and tangible connection to the earliest days of aerial combat, making it a must-see for history buffs. Beyond the atmosphere, the museum also dedicates significant space to Canada's role in space exploration, providing a fascinating look at the technology and artifacts used in orbit. The Essential Special Tour For those looking to deepen their experience, a strong recommendation is to get a viewing of the special tour of the building located next door. This lesser-known addition offers an unforgettable glimpse behind the scenes, providing context and access that elevates the entire visit. It is well worth the extra time and effort. Practical Details for Your Visit The museum has thoughtfully considered the needs of all its guests. It is fully handicapped accessible, ensuring everyone can navigate the vast exhibit space comfortably. Visitors will also find a pleasant cafeteria on-site for refreshment and a well-stocked gift shop for souvenirs. An important note for service members and their families: Military Personnel and Veterans are granted free admission. This is a wonderful gesture that honors their service and makes this valuable piece of history accessible. Finally, with so many photogenic aircraft and compelling displays, make sure you bring a camera to capture the scope of this incredible aviation assembly.

The displays are well-organized with interactive elements and plenty of information. Great for kids and adults alike. Plan for 1.5–2 hours to explore comfortably. A fun and educational visit!
Gopinath S — Google review
Large museum filled with actual airplanes and some replicas of historic planes models and prototypes. A good balance of bilingual information on plane present. The planes are somewhat organized chronologically by grouping them by war, although an introduction before Bleriot and Montgolfier could be interesting. The museum was quiet on a weekday beside 3 school groups. As a result, an exercice was prepared for the high schoolers but no demos no workshops no shows no book reading offered to regular museum goers - that lack of interaction felt like a missed opportunity. Young kids can enjoy busy boards, panels, ride on planes, a library, etc. The Destination Moon exhibit was well done and allowed the visitors to experience and immerse themselves as astronauts. Options at cafeteria are too basic (prepackaged sandwiches) Parking - Indigo 9.50$/day

Lovely day trip out to Ottawa yielded a trip to this place. It was around 20$ CAD Per person, my duration of stay was about 2 hours but it could've easily been three. Lots of cool history here to see, and there's a helicopter ride you can take. Also there's a fighter Simulator but it wasnt open that day for us. Aviation buffs this is a must visit in your life time.
Jason B — Google review
Great collections and great Canadian aviation history! Valuable family time experience. They also offer a paid helicopter ride at this museum. Also got a cafeteria with a snack shop for a quick bite. Plenty of parking.
Jensen D — Google review
Starts at the story of human desire to fly and then covers the early years, world war 1, and 2, cold war, bush and early commercial planes and then covers early space flights, space shuttles, international space station. An extensive collection of planes, artifacts, history of airports and ground communication with planes. Tribute to Canadian ingenuity (CanadaArm). its astronauts, and innovations attributed to Canada. Can spend over 4 hours going thru each and every display/exhibit. Lots for kids to explore. Another hangar (which i did not visit) has an immense collection in storage that they rotate out from the main exhibit. One can pay a small additional fee to see that as well. If you like aviation and space. A must visit while in Ottawa

The Canadian Museum of History is a captivating institution that delves into the rich tapestry of Canadian culture and history. Designed by Indigenous architect Douglas Cardinal, the building's fluid curves are reminiscent of rippling waters, paying homage to Canada's natural landscape. The museum features four permanent exhibition galleries, including the Grand Hall with towering totem poles, the First Peoples Hall, Canada Hall showcasing life-size recreations of historical settings, and Face to Face highlighting influential figures in Canadian history.
We had a fantastic time visiting this museum. The exhibits were thoughtfully curated, interactive, and visually stunning. Everything was well-organized, and we could tell a lot of care went into the presentation. Whether you’re into history, art, or just looking for something inspiring, this place is a must-see. Highly recommend it for all ages — we left feeling inspired and enriched.

We came here to learn more about the indigenous cultures of Canada and for the children's museum. They have a great set up here, we were able to go to the children's museum right after getting our tickets to wear out our daughter a bit before going to the main museum. The children's museum is really interesting, much more than we had expected. It is really great that they have so many interactive and educational displays about different cultures around the world. Following the path from Asia, to Egypt to Mexico was a lot of fun. They have the room to rent marbles and other things to build as well. Definitely a must stop if you have kids. After she got a bit of her energy out we went upstairs to see the main exhibits. The long hallway with the mirrors telling the stories of places around the country was really interesting, a bit tricky to read, but very unique. The layout to walk through is fantastic. Walking through history from the indigenous communities, to the invasion from the French and British, to the modern day is so well laid out. Not too many interactive displays to keep our daughter entertained, but just enough. It was absolutely fascinating to basically walk through the history of Canada. Going downstairs to the great room/hall was incredible, the totem poles are enormous. Getting to see them in person and read about how the people carve them out was really impressive. I'm really glad we made the trip here and feel we got our money's worth.

What a great museum! I learned so much about Canadian history, with loads of surprises (and fun interactive features) throughout. I loved the layout, where on one side you wind through the history of Canada from ancient First Peoples to modern times. I loved learning about early French Canada and seeing Rocket Richard’s jersey. The other part of the museum was a massive First Peoples exhibit with buildings, totems and modern artwork. Super impressive. This museum was a great visit and would be perfect for families too.

I took my kids to the Canadian Museum of History and had a fantastic time. The whole place is well-kept, clean, and thoughtfully designed for families. There are plenty of clean bathrooms (always a plus with kids), a cafeteria, and even vending machines for quick snacks. The highlight for us was definitely the Children’s Museum inside — my kids absolutely loved it. It can get a bit crowded and overwhelming during the summer holidays, but still totally worth it. I’ve also been during the school year and found it much calmer. We also explored the main history exhibits, which offer a fascinating look at both old and modern Canadian history. Beautiful displays, engaging content, and something for all ages. Highly recommend it for a fun and educational day out!

🏛️ Canadian Museum of History A museum that feels less like “reading plaques” and more like walking through Canada’s story. The Grand Hall is stunning — totem poles, Indigenous art, and that sweeping window view of Parliament. Exhibits span everything from First Peoples to pop culture, with immersive setups that pull you in. Kid-friendly zones that don’t feel like an afterthought. Visitors tip: Start at the top floor and work down for the best flow — but expect crowds in the Grand Hall. Bottom line: A beautiful, layered look at Canada that sticks with you.
Steve G — Google review
Very well laid out main exhibits and you're able to go at your own pace depending on your group. Younger children will enjoy the great hall and the children's museum side of things. Cafe on site with a good selection of snacks and great views from the gardens

Very cool and a must see museum in the Ottawa area. We came over because we wanted to see all the indigenous artifacts and what not. We were blown away at the totem poles and the sheer size of them. We watched a movie in there as well at their little theatre which was on creatures in the neighborhood and focused on their little lives. We spent 2 hours or so but we could have easily spent the whole afternoon there. 5/5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

The museum at Gatineau is a pleasant relaxing and informative spot, conveniently close to downtown Ottawa. It is engaging and well laid out, making it easy to navigate for a short visit. However, the admission fees can feel steep, particularly for groups of adults during these tough economic times. The gift shop is well stocked, but failed to account for any item that speaks to the fact that it is located in the Quebec Province and not Ontario. The reason they gave was that it is a national museum. Visitors want refrigerator magnets to remind them of this place. So, do not expect it from this location. Otherwise, beautiful place all together

Discover the intriguing history of Canada's Cold War at the Diefenbunker: Canada's Cold War Museum, a massive underground bunker in Ottawa. Originally built to protect government officials during a nuclear attack, this 4-level, 100,000 square foot facility now offers visitors a glimpse into this pivotal period of history. Explore recreated workspaces and living quarters equipped with vintage technology and cryptographic areas. The museum also hosts annual events like 'Incident in the Bunker' for an immersive experience.
This is one of the coolest places to explore in Canada. Visiting feels like stepping into a frozen time capsule. The atmosphere is very retro, with bright colours on the cabinets and flooring that create a cheerful vibe. The history behind the place is fascinating. We spent about two hours exploring all four levels on a self-guided tour. This was my second visit, and I enjoyed it just as much as the first time. The first (top) level is accessible, but we couldn’t take the stroller any further since there are no elevators. Moving between levels requires stairs.
Jen S — Google review
Very interesting and informative museum that was once used during cold war and has jot been used since the early 90s. It has level 4 underground, seems simple from outside but it will bring you to new dimensions.
FilCan J — Google review
The amount of Canadian history crammed into this facility is amazing. It’s extremely well laid out and very very informative. We learned a lot about the Cold War era from the Canadian perspective. I highly recommend this facility. The staff were very friendly and the price is quite reasonable.

I’ve visited some pretty unusual places before, but this one ranks near the top! The sheer scope of this “secret” facility — built in less than 18 months back in 1959 — is absolutely mind-blowing. The Diefenbunker offers a fascinating glimpse into Cold War history, and it’s incredibly well-preserved. Our tour guide, Graham, a retired CSIS IT professional, was a superb storyteller. His anecdotes, humour, and passion really made the experience come alive — the perfect guide for a place that was never supposed to exist! If you’re anywhere near Ottawa, this is a must-see.
BJ G — Google review
This is a great activity. An amazing piece of Canadian history. More than a museum considering the facility was actually in service up until early 1990s. It is a huge complex and there lots to see, and get lost. I would recommend a guided tour, but planning enough time before or after to roam around on your own too.
Stéphane L — Google review
Great museum, I've been coming to this area for decades and only last year found our how close the bunker was to us. If you like history museums then this one is a must see. Mostly intact and well preserved, it will take about 3 hrs to walk, see and read the contents of the 4 floors. Lots of free parking and you can go have an awesome lunch at the Cheshire Cat just down the road.
Paul M — Google review
This is trip to the past to understand better today’s events. Exiting walk trough the rooms where could be made so important decisions. It has much information about Cold War and the world of those years. Great museum which has to be attended!
Olena K — Google review
Absolutely awesome tour! The bunker is in a time warp and the guided tour was extremely insightful on how soldiers and high command dignitaries as well as commanders operated in the bunker. The technology of running air and water systems was out of this world for the era of time. I would highly recommend the tour and a must see when visiting the Ottawa region! 10 stars if I could give it!

The Royal Canadian Mint, located in a castle-like 1908 headquarters in downtown Ottawa, offers guided tours and showcases the world's largest coin and gold bars. The gallery/shop displays a wide range of collectible coins with intricate designs featuring themes like Star Trek, Disney, Swarovski-encrusted symbols, and nature-inspired images. Visitors can also experience holding a 28-pound gold bar under the supervision of a security guard.
What an amazing tour! Quite glad we did it a well worth the admission. The fellow we had doing the tour was personable and knowledgeable. Gave great overviews and shows the process. If we had questions and wanted to get deeper on things (like how it is refined to 5 9s) he gave detailed explanations. Bought the kids a couple 1oz silver investment coins for their souvenir. All in all a great time. No pics from the tour as they weren’t permitted. You should try getting an appointment online - they email you back right away. That said, some people that were visiting the gift shop were able to buy and hop on to the tour while we were there.

As an avid coin lover, this place has been on my bucket list for years. My late-father and I collected coins for years, from the Royal Canadian Mint. He was never able to make it here but I was so glad I did. I almost wasn't able to get a tour due to some major miscommunication between myself and a lady on the phone about when I should book. An amazing woman by the name of Amber was able to swoop in and help me and my family get 3 tickets. This was my super bowl while in Ottawa. Seems small for some but for others, it's their passion. Upon entry, you'll notice how old and historic the building is, and still beautiful to this day. There are various little spots to take photos on your way to the entrance and eventually to the gift shop which anyone can visit. The gift shop is top-notch. Hundreds of coins here. It's nice to be able to see them in person prior to purchase. They also have puzzles, sweaters, coin collection cases, etc. All the staff that I dealt with were so nice, helpful and friendly. The tour itself, was so great and informative. The tour guide (I forget her name, blond hair lady), was fantastic and very knowledgeable. She answered questions and gave us lots of time to see everything around us, and take it all in. I'll definitely be recommending this experience to anyone visiting the Ottawa area and I look forward to visiting again next time we're in Ottawa. 5/5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Cool info about coins, definitely worth visiting. Wish the ticket was a bit cheaper as our tour ended in less than 50 mins or at least the somehow made it interactive. In europe almost all of the museums are turning into interactive museums instead of only being informative. But i enjoyed it very much.
Katy A — Google review
The tour of the mint was okay. You are inside a gallery for the 45 minute tour and are not allowed to take any pictures and it is difficult to see what is going on at times. The only other thing is the gift shop so there is not much to do outside of the tour, which I felt left something to be desired. It did book up fast so I would recommend booking a tour in advance.
Joe D — Google review
Always a great place to visit when in Ott. Make sure you reserve in advance for your spot they fill up very fast. Lots of cool info about our coins 🪙 and the prosses. The gift shop has a great selection 👌🏽 The only thing is no photos or video on the tour,
Darrell H — Google review
What a cool experience! Book in advance and arrive early! This tour was so informative and interesting. I would recommend visiting during the week as there is no coin production on the weekend. Though we didn’t see any actual work being done, the views from above were so fascinating. Seeing rolls of gold and silver in rolls to blanks and the purest coins were amazing. The TV videos were great as it shows the production line up close and the tour guide knew so much and was able to answer all questions. Totally worth it, visit if you can! Parked across the road on the street for free (July 2025).
Marley B — Google review
Very interesting and informative tour. Well worth the price and took around 2 hours including looking through gift shop of coins you can purchase. Pre book on line. I showed up on a Monday but they were closed and so booked on line for next day.

We had a great experience here! The museum is all on one floor, which makes it easy to get around, and there’s plenty to see and do. There are tons of interesting historical facts, and the open layout means it never feels too crowded. Each exhibit has several items on display, which kept things engaging. There are also lots of interactive features that make it fun and exciting—especially for kids! The bathrooms were clean, the gift shop was lovely, and the café was nice, with a good selection of snacks and drinks and lots of open seating. The pricing was also very reasonable! Overall, a really enjoyable visit. I’d definitely recommend it!

Amazing day at this museum: plan to stay the day, bring a lunch (minimal options at cafeteria). The museum offers demos even on quiet weekdays - we attended 3 shows and they were very engaging, bilingual, and great learning opportunities! The train exhibit is captivating and there are some wooden trains to play with. Most of the exhibits have interactive activities, cycling through times allows you to ride and race on a bike, several microscope, height comparison, etc. A whole zone for under 8 years old allow kids to explore on their own - truly engaging. Parking with Indigo is 9,50$/day We will return. The membership (which allows you access to 2 other Ingenium museum) is a good deal.

Canada Science and Technology Museum — Family Visit Review We visited the Canada Science and Technology Museum last weekend with our family, and it was a fantastic experience. The kids had a great time exploring all the interactive exhibits and activities, and the adults enjoyed refreshing their own science and technology knowledge. The ticket prices were reasonable, and with the Strong Pass, you get additional discounts, which is a nice bonus. At the entrance, after check in, they provided us with maps, and each exhibit room was clearly labeled, making it easy to navigate from one gallery to the next. The museum layout is very intuitive, with rooms connected in a way that lets you flow naturally through the space. The amount of information and hands-on learning available is incredible — truly a brain gym for kids! There was so much to learn, from basic scientific principles to complex technology concepts, all explained through simple and engaging experiments. This interactive approach really makes science come alive. There were plenty of activities to keep the kids engaged, including hands-on stations, games, and even demonstrations. Adults will find it equally fascinating, with opportunities to revisit and reconnect with science and tech concepts they might have forgotten. The museum is quite large, so I would recommend planning for at least 4 to 6 hours, depending on how deeply you want to explore each area. We hadn’t fully planned our time and ended up having to skip the last block of exhibits, so be sure to allow enough time if you want to see everything. I didn’t notice a dedicated refreshment area or café, so if you have kids who might need a snack break, it’s best to check with the front desk about food and drink options before you start your tour. Parking was easy, and the staff at the entrance were friendly and patient Overall, this museum is absolutely worth your time. It’s educational, entertaining, and suitable for all ages. Highly recommend a visit!
Pradnya — Google review
This was a fun experience. We had not been to visit in years so it all seemed very new and exciting and a great learning experience. They also have a massive building adjacent that has a guided tour of the exhibits that are not on display.

Very fun to walk around and learn about the advancement of the technology we see everyday, the the technology we left behind. We loved the Sound section with the fun gadgets we could play around with. The Kitchen section felt the most informative and the steam power section was the most fun to walk around due to the absolute scale of the trains. The building also looks quite nice.

The Bytown Museum, located in downtown Ottawa near the Ottawa Locks on the Rideau Canal, offers a captivating journey through the city's history from its early days as Bytown to its current status as Canada's capital. Housed in a historic stone building that was once a treasury, the museum provides an immersive experience with exhibits and an audio tour showcasing Ottawa's transformation over time.
I spent an hour at the Bytown Museum with my kids, and we all enjoyed exploring the fascinating collection. The museum, located in Ottawa's oldest stone building, offers a rich glimpse into the city's early history and the construction of the Rideau Canal. The exhibits are engaging and well-presented, making it an enjoyable and educational experience for both adults and children. It's a great place to learn about the local history in an interactive way. Highly recommended for families and history enthusiasts!

This is a small museum with three floors. They have some unique local items, including maps of the city showing its growth through the years, old photographs, some artifacts from lumberjacks and navvies, as well as memorabilia from local dignitaries and celebrities of bygone days. I appreciated seeing the personal items from E B Eddy and D'arcy McGee. A visit to the storage area for wine and explosives allows you to see the thickness of the walls of this oldest of Ottawa buildings. (Circa 1827) There are employees to answer questions. Tickets are not expensive, only under 15 for 2 seniors. Well worth a visit for history buffs!

I'll admit, I came for the Aircon, but I stayed as this was a great little museum. Really enjoyed seeing all of the exhibits about the history of Ottawa. The signposts are informative and clear, and the museum is well structured and spaced out so it doesn't feel cramped. Very reasonably priced also. Would recommend!!

A Deep Dive into Ottawa's Past at the Bytown Museum The Bytown Museum in Ottawa is truly a must-visit. What makes it particularly engaging is the audio guide, available from reception. This 45-minute audio tour expertly leads you through each exhibit, transporting you back in time to the very beginnings of Ottawa. It vividly recounts the arrival of the settlers on Algonquin and Indigenous lands, detailing how the fur trade began and the subsequent influx of newcomers. The museum also beautifully illustrates the social and economic conditions of that era, guiding you through significant events like the Great Fire and the establishment of the ByWard Market. Furthermore, it highlights the construction of the Rideau Canal and its crucial military importance. Housed in one of Ottawa's oldest standing stone structures, the museum does an excellent job of tracing the city's history. This three-floor museum is a delightful experience. If you're keen to learn about Ottawa's rich history, it's an essential stop. The staff are incredibly helpful and kind, making the visit even more pleasant. I would always recommend putting the Bytown Museum on your list of things to do in Ottawa.

The Canada Agriculture and Food Museum is a fascinating attraction that showcases the history of Canadian agriculture and food production. The farm on which the museum is located also offers a variety of tours, demonstrations, and events throughout the year.
A Hidden Gem for Families - Canada Agriculture and Food Museum We absolutely love the Canada Agriculture and Food Museum! It’s hands down our favourite spot to visit as a family, and it’s no surprise that it’s my kids’ top pick. My son, especially, has been asking to go every single day during the week, and we finally made it happen this past Sunday. And oh boy, it did not disappoint! The museum has something exciting happening every 30 minutes, so there’s never a dull moment. From hands-on activities to interactive exhibits, the kids were completely engaged all day long. One of the highlights of our visit was when my kids got to participate in a cooking class – they made maple cupcakes! Being able to bake something so Canadian and delicious really topped off the experience. The cupcakes were amazing (and yes, we ate them all)! Another memory that will stay with us forever was getting to meet the adorable baby cows and lambs. The little ones were just too cute, and it was heartwarming to see my kids learn about where their food comes from in such a fun and engaging way. If you're looking for a place to spark joy and learning in your little ones, the Canada Agriculture and Food Museum is definitely worth a visit. It’s an enriching experience that brings our Canadian heritage to life, and it’s one we will be coming back to again and again. Highly recommend!

Location: pretty easy to find Parking: large parking lot, but $4 per hour Admission: it seemed a little pricey, but maybe on par with other museums of similar caliber Facilities: all the buildings and equipment are well taken care of and in good condition. Washrooms: the washrooms are clean and are in every building so there are no worries there. Staff: I was surprised how few staff there were around to ask about the animals. However, there were lots of staff running interactive programs geared towards children, so I’m sure children would give a five star rating. As adults, it was informative but entirely self-guided. Animals: the animals all seem very well taken care of and there was a massive variety in different breeds of farm animals. Overall: we were able to see and read literally everything in two hours, so I was quite surprised there wasn’t more to see and do. But it’s absolutely worth visiting at least once whether you’re an Ottawa native or a tourist.

🌾 Canada Agriculture and Food Museum Where barns meet science — a working farm right in the city. Real animals: cows, sheep, horses — you can actually smell the hay, not just see pictures of it. Exhibits connect the dots between farming, food, and modern life in a way that feels grounded. Kid-friendly without being kiddie — adults learn plenty too. Visitors tip: Go early in the day — animals are more active. Expect strong barn smells and flies — it’s authentic farm life, not sanitized. Bottom line: A refreshingly down-to-earth museum that trades glass cases for fresh air, muck boots, and a dose of reality.

We brought our toddler here and had a blast. We saw a lot of animals here: horse, sheep, goats, llamas, pigs, cattles, turkeys, rabbits, bees...The staff are very friendly and took the time to explain farming and animal care to visitors. The animals are well taken care of, and you just feel relaxed walking around here. There's a kitchen where they share recipes that you can easily follow (also treats if you are lucky!). If your child is really bored, there's a very nice playground on site surrounded by some picnic tables. Highly recommend for family with children.

You also have some demo/special activities or story time through the day. They also have a little kid playground. You can bring your lunch and eat on the outside picnic table and you have a beavertail food truck on site. Cathedral
Catholic church
Notre Dame Cathedral Basilica, dating back to the 19th century, is a significant landmark in Ottawa. It is the oldest and largest church in the city, featuring striking Neo-Gothic architecture with skyline-dominating spires. The austere neoclassical exterior gives way to a colorful and elaborate interior adorned with magnificent stained-glass windows, intricate carvings, and hundreds of sculptures of religious figures.
Beautiful cathedral with metal spires. Opposite the art gallery and the spider sculpture. Very accessible from downtown and the parliament buildings. Inside is a stunning building with a beautiful 'night sky' roof and stained glass windows, some of which open to let fresh air in. Worth a visit from an art perspective or a place for some quiet contemplation.

Beautiful building. Hard to get good pictures inside without disturbing everyone even though it wasn't a mass time. Loved hearing the bells ring at noon and 6 pm. They do ask all visitors to pay some money even if you don't do the tour.

I recently had the chance to visit the Notre-Dame Cathedral Basilica in Ottawa, and it truly exceeded my expectations. From the outside, the twin spires and detailed façade stand out beautifully, but the interior is what leaves you speechless. The carved wooden details, hand-painted ceilings, and colorful stained-glass windows create a warm, spiritual atmosphere. The sound of the grand organ adds to the sense of awe and peace. It’s a perfect place for quiet reflection and appreciating art, architecture, and history all in one. Services are offered in both English and French, reflecting Ottawa’s cultural harmony. If you visit the city, don’t miss this stunning landmark — it’s one of the most beautiful and peaceful places in Ottawa

This church in Ottawa is a must visit landmark and one of the city's most breathtaking sights. Whether you're into architecture, history, or simply looking for a quiet inspiring place to reflect, the Notre Dame Cathedral Basilica is not to be missed when visiting. The twin silver spires is so eye-catching even from far away, very majestic. Once you step inside, the beauty is breathtaking, every angle reveals more craftsmanship and history, and I could easily spend hours admiring it all, inside and out.
LingJ — Google review
Beautiful & peaceful interior. We had a wonderful visit. It's across from the National art gallery & the spider sculpture. The Royal Canadian Mint is just a 5 min walk from this cathedral.

I had a wonderful experience visiting this church. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, and the community made me feel comfortable right away. The service was meaningful, and the message was inspiring. It’s a peaceful place for reflection and worship.
Carlos M — Google review
A truly peaceful and healing experience. The atmosphere inside the church felt calm and comforting - a perfect place for reflection and quiet moments. We arrived during the mass service, so we had to wait about an hour before entering. The staff at the front were kind and guided us patiently, making the wait worthwhile. Once inside, the serenity and spiritual energy made the experience even more special.
Nubi C — Google review
The Notre-Dame Cathedral Basilica is absolutely breathtaking. From the outside, its twin spires rise above the city and make it one of Ottawa’s most iconic landmarks. Inside, the beauty is even more striking—vaulted blue ceilings painted with golden stars, ornate wooden sculptures, and stunning stained-glass windows that bring incredible light and colour into the space. The craftsmanship and attention to detail are remarkable, especially in the sanctuary with its intricate carvings and statues. It’s not just a place of worship, but also a work of art and a piece of Canadian history. Whether you’re visiting for quiet reflection, to admire the architecture, or to experience one of the concerts or services, it leaves a lasting impression. A must-see when in Ottawa.

First time taking the Original Haunted Walk tour. It did not disappoint. Monica was a fantastic guide! Great storyteller, perfect pace, and projected their voice so that the whole group could hear. Loved learning more about the city I now call home, some of it quite spine tingling! Looking forward to doing more of the tours and site events in the future.

Monica was an absolutely fantastic guide. She was an excellent story teller, was hospitable, and extremely witty. I saw her genuinely engage and connect with every single group on our tour which was very impressive. The pace was great, she made sure we were all safe navigating our route, and you could tell she really enjoyed her gig. Would love to take another tour with her! - See you at the dentist, Monica! 😊

Had an absolutely wonderful tour at the Beechwood Cemetery tour. Our tour guide Nart delivered the haunting stories with just the right mix of gravitas and charm. It's clear how much effort Haunted Walks puts into their research into the spooky side of history. It's also the only way you can see the beautiful cemetery grounds after dark, which is truly worthwhile.

A Chillingly Fun Night with Charlotte! We joined the Original Haunted Walk of Ottawa and had such a fantastic time! Our guide, Charlotte, was an incredible storyteller, calm, eerie, and captivating all at once. She began with chilling tales of old burial grounds before leading us through downtown Ottawa, pointing out haunted buildings and sharing fascinating stories of the paranormal. From creepy attic hauntings to spirits trapped “in between” because of their tragic endings, every stop gave us goosebumps and made us look at the city in a whole new way. It was the perfect mix of history, mystery, and spine-tingling fun. Highly recommend this tour, especially around halloween week.

On a damp and chilly Halloween night, my wife and I braved the cold and joined Lea and two other adventurers (and there tiny dog) for the traditional 75 minute Haunted Walk through downtown Ottawa. Our tour guide was knowledgeable and enthusiastic as she took us from one spot to another giving us the spooky lowdown on some possible hauntings in and around the area. The streets were fairly deserted due to the weather and temperatures which only added to the atmosphere. Thanks for an enjoyable experience Lea!

I took the Original Ghost Walk of Ottawa, and I enjoyed it. It's definitely a bit of a hike, but our guide Darcy/Darcie (?) made the experience very enjoyable. She made sure we had time to take photos, ask questions, and gave everyone time to catch up if needed. Would definitely recommend (though creepier in the night!!)

Nestled in the heart of Ottawa, Rideau Hall is a magnificent historic residence dating back to the 1830s and serves as the official home of Canada's Governor General. This grand structure, reminiscent of Buckingham Palace, boasts an impressive 175 rooms spread over 9,500 square meters and is set within beautifully landscaped grounds that span 88 acres. While access can be a bit tricky—requiring a short walk from nearby street parking through Sussex Gate—the journey offers delightful views of surrounding sculptures.
I’ve been to Ottawa many times, but visiting Rideau Hall had always been on my list—and I finally got to go! You do need to make a reservation, but it’s pretty easy to book. The tour is guided—I'm not sure if the guide was a staff member or a volunteer, but we had one person take us around the residence. Luckily, no one else joined our time slot, so it turned into a private tour for just the two of us! The inside was more elegant than I expected. We got to see portraits of past Governors General, peek into the event halls and workspaces, and really got a feel for the history and atmosphere. Definitely worth the visit!

It's beautiful!!! In any season, this place is a must stop in for a relief from the city bustle or to visit the elegant spaces where awards for outstanding acts are handed to incredible Canadians. It's incredible that we get to visit the Governor General Residence Public spaces. The visitor Center has accessible toilets, a picnic area and park. The grounds are flat and easy to navigate, even with a stroller or wheelchair. The rose garden was pretty but the flat water fountain was impressive. The massive trees and plants of the gardens are beautiful. The staff is bilingual French/English, so kind and patient. We asked a lot or questions. My 15 and 12 year old were entertained and enjoyed the experience. They didn't think young children would find it fun. You have to go through security to go in, and they check bags so leave as much at "home". They do search.

Despite living down the street for years I had never been inside Rideau Hall until attending a Days Open event during summer 2025. This is a beautiful residence and the staff are knowledgeable on the history of the rooms and artwork. The tent room and greenhouse were each a particular favourite spot on the self guided tour. The grounds are open during daylight hours regularly. Minus one star for not allowing dogs on the grounds (solution: on leash and fines for not picking up after them could easily allow the pleasure of dog walking to occur).

I had a wonderful time visiting Rideau Hall. The building is full of Canadian history and beautifully maintained, both inside and out. Touring the interior was a real treat, the rooms are elegant and filled with fascinating details, from artwork to architecture. Since it’s not generally open to the public year-round, it felt special to be able to step inside. A worthwhile visit if you get the chance!

I Must Say With all the mixed reviews....I didn't want to get to excited. But my child had a blast! I can't believe we don't have one close by! Will highly recommend on a trip. We went on a early weekday - thinking that the place would be mostly empty. From events to school visits , it actually still wasn't overwhelming. We adults had a ton of fun as well. I love the layout of this mini village and world collide. From the pizzeria to the markets to the " ships " to the chess to the craft centre or mini theatre...just amazing! Love the cultural aspects. Love that there were hand sanitizing stations , though not all were filled. So much to learn and also implement though play! We easily could've stayed hours( more than we already did😅). Despite , the challenges of the parking - due to the events. It would be great if they had a spill over or alternative parking spaces in case. We had a few hiccups upon arrival - but the staff were amazing! P.s At the time, we didn't find " broken" items from other review. So perhaps they have now been fixed.

A wonderful museum for kids! Although there aren’t many actual exhibits, it does a great job showcasing different cultures and architecture from around the world. It’s a bit small, but the staff work very diligently, constantly tidying up and organizing the space.

Same thing as the Canadian history museum of Canada in somewhere in Ontario. Where exactly and which city? I forgot. Awesome world tour to discover countries, cultures while doing a series of activities. Build a paper puppet in Indonesia, dig out archeological artefacts in Egypt, fold origami souvenirs in Japan, and much more! Build a log cabin or place shingles on a roof, build a brick wall, go fishing on a boat, play with wooden trains and Duplos, activities are endless. All this with a thematic scavenger hunt. Staff is amazing with children. Lots of cleaning wipes. We spent more than 3 hours !

We came all the way from Waterloo region to Ottawa to visit this place. My 2 year was very happy and did not wanted to leave. Good for small kids. It reflects various cultures and also provide fun time. On Monday Morning, it was not crowded. They have a room for kids to have snacks so I suggest to keep some with you, as kids can have them when it's time to.

I thought they had redone it in recent years. It seems old and similar to when I was a kid. It kept my toddler relatively entertained but I felt it could be better. The fruits, vegetables were oddly heavy and shopping carts would work better for toddlers. I liked the available crafts.

Specialty Museums
The Bank of Canada Museum, located just steps away from Parliament Hill in Ottawa, has recently undergone a major renovation and is now open to the public. The museum offers interactive exhibits that educate visitors of all ages about the significance of money and currency in the economy. Guests can create their own avatars and explore various displays, including learning how to detect counterfeit currency and discovering banknotes from around the world. The museum provides an engaging experience with video game-style interactive exhibits.
Our visit to the Bank of Canada Museum was a refreshing and educational highlight during our trip to Ottawa. Located just steps from Parliament Hill, this modern, well-curated museum offers deep insights into the history, mechanics, and future of Canada’s economy—making it a must-visit, especially for those with an interest in finance, currency, or global economic systems. From the moment we entered, the museum impressed us with its interactive displays, rich visuals, and multilingual audio guides. The museum does an excellent job of demystifying complex topics like inflation, trade, employment, and economic planning. Exhibits such as “What a Coin is Worth” and “Engines of the Economy” explain how currency has evolved over time and how national economies are built and sustained. One of the most nostalgic moments for us was seeing preserved currencies from around the world, including India’s now-discontinued 500 and 1000 rupee notes. It brought back memories and highlighted the global nature of economic history. Other intriguing exhibits included a historic balance scale, antique cash registers, and a beautifully detailed silver teapot with royal engravings symbolizing past presentations or ceremonial use. The museum also features: • Large-scale digital maps showing immigration and global trade patterns • Insights into Canada’s Great Depression, economic recessions, and recovery strategies • Real-time, forward-looking audio-visual content about Canada’s future economic priorities • Touch-screen games and quizzes that make the visit engaging for both adults and children There is also a souvenir shop inside the museum, offering currency-themed memorabilia and educational gifts. As a family with a young child, we appreciated that the museum was fully stroller-accessible, air-conditioned, and clean with well-organized pathways. I personally would have loved to spend an entire day exploring each exhibit in depth, but with a family schedule to balance, we made the most of a half-day visit. The Bank of Canada Museum goes far beyond just displaying money. It narrates the story of Canada’s economy, its global connections, and the vital role of trust, governance, and innovation in monetary systems. Whether you’re a history buff, finance professional, student, or curious visitor, this museum delivers a rich and rewarding experience.

Water park
Calypso Theme Waterpark, located just 30 minutes east of Ottawa, offers 100 acres of fun for visitors of all ages. The park features a giant wave pool, toddler play areas, and fast waterslides to cater to both young children and thrill-seekers. With two themed rivers, 35 slides, and over 100 water games, there's something for everyone in the family to enjoy.
The place is very family-friendly, perfect for relaxing from your daily routine. There's a long wait to get on the slides, but you really enjoy them. They need to fix some of the locker room doors, as some don't have locks, making them difficult to close. The lifeguards do their job very well. The wave pool is a lot of fun, and they pay close attention to it. You have a wonderful time with family and friends.

Great place to relax and have a great time. I wonder if there are plans to add regular swimming pools around the site. The cabanas look great but the decks could use some repainting. Any plans to extend the hours to perhaps 7pm? Also 5:30 is early to close on Fridays. Overall a great time and great variety of rides.

Best water Park I've ever been to. 13 solo water slides 10 multi person slides 2 lazy rivers 1 massive -off and in wave pool 1 smaller wave pool (wave ALWAYS on) Plenty of space for picnics Friendly staff Lines move fairly quickly Like most tourist type places prices were a bit high. However, you can bring your own food into the park, chairs, etc. they have plenty of picnic tables, grassy areas to use. You just have to get there early to claim something. Early on in the day, there were little to no lines. From about 10-11 it was up and down. From 11-1:00 it progressively got busier. By early afternoon lines hit Max wait times. Some maybe 15 -30 minutes. However, I was able to hit all slides early on and as the day progressed I just went to the short lines. There are water fountains, umbrellas and plenty of places to cool down. It had an amazing time here. Already, trying to make plans for next summer to return. Thanks Calypso, you made my day something great to remember.

Overall, I'd describe this as a lovely water park where the whole family, especially children, can have a great time. There are also nice areas where you can bring your own food and eat in the shade, which is another plus. I can also say that the ice cream in the ice cream section is delicious and I highly recommend trying it. I'd also like to point out that the water slides are fun, but sometimes the wait times are long, which wastes a lot of time, and a solution needs to be found. I also think the number of showers could be increased and improved, as some shower heads are malfunctioning or inadequate. The parking lot is ample and adequate, but it would be even better if it were paved. Overall, I think this is a good place to have a good time.

Great park for kids/families. We found a nice spot with shade and brought a picnic lunch. Middle of the week visit so lines were not long. (I can see how it would get busy on the weekends) We had a great experience. The only suggestion would be to accept cash for services, as we locked up our valuables and wanted to just have some loose cash for purchases. Staff and workers very polite and helpful. We will be back

Great Family Day at Calypso! Had an amazing time at Calypso Water Park with the grandkids! Even though the weather was a bit on the cooler side, it didn’t stop us from having a blast. The kids loved every minute of it—from the wave pool to the slides, and the lazy river was great fun, the little ones loved it It was an amazing way to spend the day as a family, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a fun outing with the little ones (or not-so-little ones). Purchasing tickets in advance gave us the best value for the experience.

Totally, really fun day at this park. It is a really big park. Plan to spend some money 💰and time. -Paid Parking -Food is expensive there. -Tiki bars -Commute in is easy getting out is a nightmare 😪. Only one way in one way out. Most rides has a 40 minutes minimum wait. Most popular rides bit more.. on a hot day
D. J — Google review
The rides are enjoyable but I would suggest bringing your own food because the line ups are long at the park’s restaurants and their menu isn’t as big as it used to be. We rented a cabana and it was lovely. It had seating, a small table, shade, a mini fridge and a lockbox for valuables. Make sure to check the website for what you’re allowed/not allowed to bring into the park because they are strict about it.

Funhaven Entertainment Centre, located at 1050 Baxter Road in Ottawa, is a one-stop destination for family fun. From escape rooms to Laser Tag, bowling to bumper cars, climbing walls to simulators, there's something for everyone. The center also offers a range of activities such as mini-golf and arcade games suitable for all ages.
Very fun arcade place that our young kids loved. It is a bit on the pricier side I'd say, but we did plan to spend a few hours there so we went in prepared to pay a good amount of money. Basically you buy credits to spend how you want. Entries vary between 8 to 35 credits depending on each arcade game device. It was 55$ for 240 credits when we visited (you get a small discount when buying a bigger amount of credits). We ended up buying around 900 credits for our whole stay, about 4-5 hours, for 5 adults and 2 children. You get "tickets" when playing arcade games that are stored on your provided card. You can then exchange them for prizes but be advised that we got 450 tickets in total and were only able to exchange them for stickers and very small toys. You won't be getting anything interesting unless you go back a bunch of times (and even then). Laser tag was very fun! The staff members were also very accommodating, having my young son quickly visit the laser tag arena (he was anxious not knowing what it was like). He liked it so much we went in a second time. Each laser tag game/round lasts 12 mins and costs 35 credits per person. Overall a very pleasant experience for the whole family!

Fun arcade spot to take the little ones. Refreshing to see a spot where you don't need to pay for adults to come in. Rollercoaster was good for the small space, arcade games were pricey and the prizes were very cheap but kept my little man busy. Would go back.

The FunHaven experience lived up to the name, very fun, however we did have a few complaints. I highly recommend it for the kids and even for adults looking for a fun night out. They have several virtual reality attractions, including a really cool 4 player shooting game (image below) that honestly blew my mind! They have a variety of arcade games and attractions for the kids that we all enjoyed (ages ranged from 2-25) from VR to bumper cars, and the Ben Ottawas ONLY ROLLER COASTER! The staff however was rude on one certain instance. We scanned two kids into the play area (which the kids loved!) and the employee accused us of only scanning once. We had to go up and get physical evidence at the front desk and make our kids (who are 2 and 3 years old…very impatient as you can imagine) wait. While I do understand the reasoning it would’ve been nice to just let the kids play while we went and got our evidence, so I do believe this is a good improvement the leadership could advise employees on. Other than forcing our kids to wait to play while we got our evidence of payment the entire attraction was fun and well worth the CA$115 we spent for several hours of fun!

Absolute trash of a place for toddlers not worth it. Super expensive and the toddler zone is all torned to pieces and needs serious maintainence. On top the staff is a bunch of unfriendly high schoolers who seem like they dont want to be there. Weirdest part is the kiosk machines where you can purchase the expensive card and points only accept cash, this is the first time I have seen this anywhere in Canada where a kiosk only accepts cash. So we had to get the points card from the front desk guy who was extremely rude. $31 for 110 points barely lasted a few things. People who are recommending this place probably have not seen good arcades and indoor playgrounds.

We had an incredible experience hosting our wedding at the National Arts Centre (NAC). Our coordinator, Kim, was responsive, knowledgeable, accommodating, and professional. She helped us plan every aspect of our day, including the smallest details, which made the entire process seamless and stress-free. The food provided by the NAC was absolutely delicious and we received so many compliments from our guests. While the contract encourages the use of their preferred decor, entertainment, and accommodation vendors, this worked out well for us and made planning even easier. The venue itself is stunning, providing a beautiful and elegant backdrop for our ceremony and reception. Overall, it was a perfect day, and we highly recommend the NAC for anyone looking to host a wedding.

It was a nice outing seeing the Final Fantasy symphony event here! Staff are super helpful at directing you where you need to go. Modern, bright building. The drop-off and pick-up for taxis is super clear which is a great relief for me because I was initially worried about finding my ride near midnight.

Does anyone remember Classic Bookshops which was located in NAC after it opened? They also had a section for French books which was La Librairie de la Capitale. I have not been to NAC in ages! But these bookshops were really nice. (The beautiful photo is Anaïs Nin. NAC had the majority of her books in stock.)

Nestled in the charming village of Old Chelsea, just a short drive from downtown Ottawa, Nordik Spa-Nature stands as North America's largest spa, offering an unparalleled wellness experience inspired by Northern European traditions. This serene retreat is designed to rejuvenate your mind, body, and spirit through its extensive range of facilities. Guests can indulge in 10 outdoor baths and 9 saunas while enjoying the breathtaking views of Gatineau Park's natural beauty.
Gorgeous location and facility. There are plenty of different spots to enjoy within the confines of the spa that you never feel overcrowded or bored. Amazing views, great staff. If I were to nitpick, the steam room was closed upon my visit and this was not disclosed prior to booking the experience. Easily one of the most attractive spas in Quebec. Looking forward to returning!
Radu-Andrei V — Google review
The Nordik Spa is absolutely stunning and relaxing from the moment you step foot in it. The staff were very friendly and welcoming at the entrance, setting a great tone for the day. Everything was clean, well-maintained, and thoughtfully designed to help you unwind. The hammocks, swinging egg chairs, lounges, saunas, warm and cold pools with waterfalls — all set in the middle of nature — made for an incredibly peaceful and rejuvenating experience. We loved every minute and will absolutely be returning. I’m giving 4 stars instead of 5 due to multiple disruptions regarding photography. According to the village code, guests are allowed to take photos and videos as long as they respect others’ privacy, which we fully adhered to. Every photo we took was either of ourselves or of empty areas with no one else in view. Still, we were approached multiple times and warned not to take pictures — once by the lady at the cash at the infinity pool bar who initially said no photos were allowed, then corrected herself and clarified that photos of ourselves were fine if no one else was in the shot. Yet shortly after, she had another employee come and warn us again, even though we were not violating the stated guidelines. This repeated interruption — especially when we were following the rules — detracted from an otherwise seamless and relaxing visit. If the policy is that absolutely no photos or videos are allowed, this should be made explicitly clear in the spa’s rules to avoid confusion and ensure a more enjoyable experience for guests. That aside, the spa itself is beautiful, peaceful, and definitely worth visiting!

What a wonderful day. Every part of our experience was lovely. The spa is clean and well thought out. Many different types of saunas, freezing cold, cool, and warm pools, waterfalls, hammocks and swaying chairs as well as Adirondack chairs galore. Bring a book and relax for hours! The majority of the spaces are quiet or silent spots. So peaceful. The colors of the leaves in the fall were spectacular. The landscaping was beautiful.

Beautifully location and staff is amazing. Sauna rituals are amazing and always enjoy a cold plunge after. There is so much to discover there; multiple different temp pools, multiple different types of saunas, great locations to sit and enjoy a drink or snack and tons of other things to do as well. The food is always great as well. Book early if you want to include a treatment. Highly recommend the facial
Alison M — Google review
Not to be dramatic, but the Nordik is my favourite spa in the world! The 15° cold plunge pool is my #1, the hourly sauna "rituals" are akin to group meditation, and I really enjoy the heated stone beds. The exfoliation areas are also 10/10! Clean, spacious, and lots of good options at many restaurants with different serving styles. The entire spa is excellent year round. Fall is probably my favourite. Enjoy 🙂

A perfect day of hot/cold/relax at this gorgeous spa! Facilities are immaculate (change room, relaxation rooms, pools, restaurants), food options and quality of food are delish! Little things like flavoured waters and teas are much appreciated :). The team at the front of the house and on the grounds are wonderful! Makes for a wonderful day…

The National War Memorial, located in Confederation Square, is a significant tribute to the Canadian Armed Forces. The memorial features a 70-ft arch and bronze statues, serving as a poignant reminder of the sacrifices made by servicemen and women. Originally built in 1939 to honor those who died in World War I, it has since been rededicated to commemorate all Canadians lost in conflicts past and future.
The National War Memorial, known as The Response in French (La Réponse), is a stunning granite arch with beautiful bronze sculptures right in the heart of downtown Ottawa. This memorial is a heartfelt tribute to the brave Canadian soldiers who have served our country during wartime, and it's dedicated to honoring their sacrifices. Whether you're a local or just visiting, taking a moment to see this iconic landmark is a truly moving experience. I highly recommend stopping by the Memorial when you're in Ottawa to pay your respects with a minute of silence. Every year on November 11, The Royal Canadian Legion organizes the National Remembrance Day Ceremony at the National War Memorial to honor the courageous men and women who have served in Canada’s military. It’s a very meaningful event that you won’t want to miss!

This is quite the monument here in downtown Ottawa. I like coming here often on a nice sunny day and taking in the ambiance of this war memorial. Unlike others I don’t find Ottawa boring and it has lots to offer in terms of scenery and history. This is one such spot. 👍😎

Visiting The National War Memorial was moving experience. I came here on Canada day to visit Parliament Hill, and stopping by the memorial was an experience i can never forget during my Montreal visit. The two soldiers who stood in front of the memorial (see images below for reference) heightened the powerful sight further.

The National War Memorial is located at Confederation Square. It was designed by Vernon March and unveiled by King George VI in 1939 in honour of Canadians who served the Crown and those who gave their lives during WWI. The monument was later dedicated to those who served in the Canadian forces in all conflicts. It is touching and moving monument and wonderful tribute to those Canadians who made the ultimate sacrifice to ensure the freedoms that today's generation enjoy today. What you see is a 22 metre tall monument including a allegorical arrangement of two bronze figures atop a tall arch. Within the apex of the arch is a sculptural cluster of 22 bronze figures representing various military roles. It is a beautiful arrangement worth viewing from all sides. Reference to the various conflicts are found around the monument by way of listed years in which Canadian forces served. The monument is fronted by two ceremonial guard sentries as well as the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.
Brad — Google review
The monument is dominating the landscape with its height. We were lucky to catch a change of guard (we didn’t know the schedule) and was a nice experience.
Andreea D — Google review
The granite arch portrays bronze sculptures of World War One Canadian soldiers, sailors and airmen. It is also dedicated to those killed in the Second Boer War, World War Two, the Korean War, the War in Afghanistan and all conflicts in the past and those to come in the future. The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier lies in front of the memorial.

Visiting the National War Memorial was a powerful and moving experience. The setting is respectful and well-maintained, making it a fitting space for remembrance. What truly elevated our visit, however, was the brief but impactful interaction we had with a guide who took a few minutes to educate us on the history of Vimy Ridge. Though it was only a short conversation, the guide conveyed the significance of the battle with passion and clarity. They highlighted how Vimy Ridge became a defining moment in Canadian history—symbolizing unity, bravery, and national identity.

Majors Hill Park is a popular destination in Ottawa, located near the downtown area and close to several notable attractions. This leafy city park offers stunning views of the Ottawa River and the Ottawa Locks, making it a favorite spot for both locals and tourists. The park hosts seasonal events and features beautiful gardens, providing an ideal setting for picnics.
Our hotel was only a couple of blocks away so this park made for a very nice early morning walk. Just past the iconic Ottawa sign is a flight of stairs that leads up to the park. It's not all that large but the paved walkways provide a pleasant ramble with lovely views of the river and Parliament Hill (and its construction cranes!). We were about 2 weeks early for the tulips but the grounds are well-maintained, and there are a comfortable number of educational plaques and stones that provide some historical info. If you're looking for a longer walk, you can go south, cross the river and visit Parliament Hill or you can just walk along boulevard next to the river.

Even on a hot, sunny day, Major's Hill Park captivated us with its beauty. We were fortunate to catch the tail end of the tulip season, with vibrant blooms lining the pathways. Highly recommend visiting for a peaceful and picturesque experience.

The Dominion Arboretum, established in 1889, is Canada's oldest arboretum spanning 64 acres of rolling land and showcasing an extensive collection of 10,000 plants including 4,000 species. With its diverse landscape featuring 1,000 tree species and several microclimates, it offers fantastic panoramic views. This picturesque park is a favorite among photographers and nature enthusiasts alike.
As a visitor to Ottawa who lives in a rural community, I absolutely loved this gorgeous Arboretum filled with such wonders of Mother Nature. A must visit on a sunny day so you can wander and be curious about the goodness of green. Cheers, Spicy Jan

Lovely quiet and tranquil green space. Lots of benches in different spots to sit and have a quiet moment under trees, beside the water or soaking in the sun. Trails are flat, very easy to navigate on foot or bike and take you alongside the Rideau Canal. Perfect place for a reset after spending a busy day in the city. So peaceful.
Michelle H — Google review
Dominion Arboretum is truly one of Ottawa’s most beautiful and peaceful places to spend time outdoors. It’s located near Dow’s Lake, and it’s amazing how calm and green it feels even though it’s right in the city. The park is full of huge, old trees and a wide variety of plants from all over the world — every visit feels a little different depending on the season. In spring, the blossoms are gorgeous, while in fall, the colorful leaves make it feel like you’ve stepped into a painting. There are plenty of open areas for picnics or just laying on the grass with a book, and the walking paths are great for a relaxed stroll or a quiet moment by the water. You can also spot lots of birds and small wildlife if you take your time. It’s a popular place for photography and nature walks, yet it never feels overcrowded. Whether you come for a morning walk, a sunset view over Dow’s Lake, or just some peace and quiet, the Arboretum always delivers. It’s one of those places that makes you forget you’re still in the city. If you love nature, calm spaces, and beautiful scenery, Dominion Arboretum is absolutely worth a visit.

Dominion Arboretum – A Timeless Oasis in the Heart of Ottawa The Dominion Arboretum is easily one of Ottawa’s most beautiful and underrated treasures—and one of my personal favourite places in the city. Nestled in a convenient, central location, it offers a peaceful escape from the busyness of urban life without ever having to leave town. What makes the Arboretum truly special is its year-round beauty. In spring, it bursts to life with blossoms, budding trees, and vibrant new growth. In fall, it transforms into a spectacular display of colour, with golden leaves and rich reds painting every path. Even in summer and winter, it holds a quiet charm, whether you’re picnicking by the water or walking along the snow-dusted trails. The variety of plants and trees grown here is impressive—it’s like a living museum of horticulture. Whether you’re a plant enthusiast or just someone looking for a peaceful place to think, walk, or relax, the Arboretum has something to offer. It’s not just a park; it’s a place to slow down, breathe, and reconnect with nature, right in the heart of Ottawa. Highly recommended for locals and visitors alike.

Saunders Farm, a family-owned 100-acre farm since 1976, offers a variety of seasonal events and activities for all ages. Located just 25 minutes from Ottawa's city center, the farm boasts the largest collection of hedge mazes in the world, along with treehouses, puppet shows, and jumping pillows. Visitors can enjoy farm-fresh foods, hayrides, live shows, and a pumpkin patch.
Amazing experience with me and the kids! Took the whole family and there was fun for everyone, the food was DELICIOUS! Pulled pork was genuinely made and not some premade mix! Mouth watering! The staff were ever to helpful and patient and kind. We were even welcomed back for fright fest which we ended up staying for and the kids LOVED how the spooky scary fun was amped up for the nighttime activities! Horror houses worth the wait as they aren't just 5 second walk through and have you questioning (does it end?) Before you finally reach freedom from these terrible frights! Not for the weak of heart, but Definitely a family fun event for all to be had! And if you have little not to worry they have TONSof parks and puppet shows and fire performers and more! A huge thank you to the gift shop lady who helped a family far from home with access to a whole night of fun!! Definitely will be back next year !!!

Overall, we had a great time! The farm was clean, and the map helped us find what we were looking for. Would definitely recommend as a great Halloween haunt! Service was great, and the actors were incredible! Attractions were also World Class! As a person with mobility issues, I would suggest having an area at the entrance for people who are waiting for the farm to open to be able to sit if they have issues. I would also recommend having somewhere to sit once again for individuals with disabilities at each of the rides when it is busy so that they don’t have to stand the entire time. Also, bathrooms had no toilet paper or paper towel in them at 8:45 PM. We arrived at the park at exactly 6 PM opening time and some of the food stations were not ready to be serving people yet so we had to wait longer than usual. Again, thank you for the great time. We will definitely be coming back next year 2026!

Always a very fun experience at Saunders farm, it’s been a yearly tradition for my family for the past 10 years and we always notice great improvements and variety each year. It’s clear they care about making the experience better and always have much to explore and offer each time we visit. For anyone in the Gatineau Ottawa area this is a must during the Halloween season. They offer both daytime tickets best suited for families and young children and night tickets best suited for families with older children and groups of friends. Not to mention the in house ciders and food like wood fired pizza. Glad to have Saunders be a part of Ottawa tradition.

First time ever at Saunders Farm as a Family. We purchased the tickets online. I highly recommend that so that it's faster and you don't have to wait in line to purchase tickets at the gate. Bought the regular 29.99 tickets and we spent about 3 hours there without doing any of the extra charge things' to do and we had a blast. The food spots were a hit as well. Takes a bit of time but its definitely worth it for the food. We enjoyed the hay ride and the mazes were fun and a little difficult which was good. We went during the day so because our little guy is only 7 and we didn't want him to be too scared. Lineups for the hay ride and the bouncy structure was the longest waits but was definitely worth it for us. Only minor thins I would of changed is had more potter potties in different areas of the farm. But the main bathroom was in the middle and it was quick for the guys but a little wait for the women as usual. Bathrooms weren't too messy from the guys side. My wife didn't complain about the womens which means that it wasn't too bad either. Overall we would highly recommend this to families and even couples who want to go and have a nice day walking around and enjoying the perks of fall weather, some delicious food and some fun activities and a little scare during the day time. Not sure how it is at night but i heard from others that went that night time is definitely a scarefest...

I Went with my daughter we love Halloween time and usually love Saunders. We found this year the lines were not bad for a Thursday evening. But some of the attractions had to much fog an strobing lights that it was more difficult to see and we missed out on the actors trying to scare us. Also one even bumped the chainsaw into my daughter’s face because they couldn’t see either. Otherwise a good time.

We had such a great experience at Saunders Farm on Saturday! (Oct 11) All of the staff were so friendly and the scare actors put on amazing performances! (Especially the chainsaw guy in the Haunted Hayride, the expressions on his face to give a crazed look was very impressive) We have taken our kids to Saunders for their Pumpkinfest for a few years and its always a fun time, but this year we decided to get our little ones the Ultimate Kids tickets and I 100% reccomend it was well worth the price! We are already counting down the days until we visit for PumpkinFest next year!

The Canadian Tulip Festival is a major annual event in Ottawa, taking place over two weeks in mid-May. The city comes alive with millions of tulips blooming as part of a gift from the Netherlands to Canada for sheltering the Dutch royal family during World War II. Visitors can enjoy the blooms along a 15km Tulip Route, explore floral design shows, and attend concerts and craft shows at Major's Hill Park.
A truly mesmerizing experience. The festival has just begun ans many of the tulips are already in full bloom. This is truly a place you dont want to miss. Along with the flowers, there are several booths serving a variety of foods, a play area for kids with multiple restrooms across various areas. Overall, a must visit spot!
Aditya K — Google review
We recently visited the Canadian Tulip Festival at Commissioners Park in Ottawa, and it was a lovely experience overall! The park was filled with a beautiful variety of tulips in full bloom—vibrant colors, unique patterns, and neatly arranged flower beds that made for some great photo opportunities. That said, about 10% of the tulips hadn’t bloomed yet, which was a little noticeable in a few sections. It didn’t take away too much from the overall beauty, but if you’re hoping to catch all the tulips at their peak, it’s worth keeping bloom timing in mind. The park was quite crowded when we went, especially around the more popular flower beds, but the atmosphere was lively and full of positive energy. We enjoyed walking the Big Bug Boardwalk, checking out the Dutch Pavilion, and learning about the history behind the festival. It’s a great family-friendly event, and the lakeside setting makes it even more scenic. I’d definitely recommend visiting—it’s one of the best ways to welcome spring in Ottawa!
Jojo J — Google review
This was my first time at the Ottawa Tulip Festival and despite the rain and cooler temperatures that long weekend, we enjoyed our time there and also caught the fireworks and drone show in the evening. The only downside was the parking because of how busy it was and construction areas that limited some of the street parking that were closer to walk. Try to bring lawn chairs and get a good spot for the drone show early as the big trees can hinder the view if you come too late.
Veedeeta B — Google review
The Tulip Festival is a stunning experience with thousands of colorful blooms spread across beautiful gardens. The displays are well organized, perfect for photos, and there’s plenty of space to walk and enjoy the scenery. The historical connection to Canada’s bond with the Netherlands adds meaning to the visit. Family-friendly, peaceful, and a great way to welcome spring. A must-see if you’re in Ottawa during tulip season!

The 2025 Ottawa Tulip Festival (May 10–20) was a fantastic experience! Beautifully planned and well-executed, with vibrant displays throughout the city. The event was fully accessible, with plenty of parking and convenient commuting options via transit or bike. It’s a short-lived magic—blooms only last a couple of weeks—so it’s worth making time to catch it while it’s on. A true spring highlight in Ottawa!

A million tulips turning Ottawa into a rainbow—what’s not to love? Commissioners Park was bursting with color, history, and happy strangers swapping tulip theories. The Dutch friendship story makes it extra special, and yes, my camera roll is now 90% flowers. Come for the petals, stay for the beaver tails. 🌷

Not what I had in mind. I was expecting huge tulip fields, but it turned out to be more of a garden setup. I’d always heard, “If you’re in Ottawa, you have to go to the Tulip Festival,” but honestly—it was just okay. Not worth a detour. That said, the view of the lake? Absolutely loved it. That was the highlight for me.

Valleyview Little Animal Farm, situated at 4750 Fallowfield Road in Ottawa, is a delightful family-friendly destination. Visitors can interact with a diverse array of animals including alpacas, goats, ponies, and geese. The farm features playgrounds for kids and offers train rides through fields of corn, soybeans, pumpkins, hay, and sunflowers. Additionally, guests can enjoy puppet shows and explore Bill's Old Farm Museum.
We had such a wonderful time at Valleyview Farm! It’s the perfect place for families with young kids. The animals are friendly, and my children loved being able to get close to them. There are so many activities beyond just the farm animals, play areas, train , and open spaces where kids can run around safely. What really stood out to me was how welcoming and organized everything was. The staff were friendly and patient. Prices were reasonable for the amount of fun we had, and we could easily have spent about 3-4 hours there. I highly recommend Valleyview Farm for anyone looking for a fun and relaxing family outing. We’ll definitely be coming back!

The farm is beautiful and offers a wonderful experience for children. It has friendly animals, old farm equipment, and a horse-drawn carriage. Highly recommended!

Full entertainment for kids! They have a great assortment of farm animals that you can feed and get up close and personal with. There are tractors they can climb on, multiple playgrounds, tractor ride, covered sandbox, depending on the time of year there’s a corn maze, as well as an antique farm equipment museum. (I hear it’s in the Guinness Book of World Records!) There’s also a café and gift shop. The staff there are really helpful and very friendly. A great place to take the afternoon to let your kids run around safely.

If it wasn't for nap time, we could've easily spent the entirety of the day there.

I visited this farm in Barrhaven with my friend, and we each brought our three-year-olds. They absolutely loved it! The animals looked healthy and happy, and there were so many different little play areas for the kids. The main playground was spacious, with plenty of seating for parents under shady trees, perfect on a warm day. You can easily keep an eye on your kids while they explore. There’s so much to do that the kids stayed busy and burned off all their energy. This place is a gem for families, and I highly recommend it to parents looking for a fun and safe outing. Also great for candid pics!

Very nice and clean little animals farm. Have few places for kids to play. A lot of farm animals to look at. And a fun singing show! Both my 2 years and 7 years old enjoyed their stay. Little train ride is free, don’t forget to check the schedules when you enter .

Event venue
The Ottawa Art Gallery, located just a few minutes' walk from Major Hill and Byward Market, showcases an impressive collection of Canadian art, including paintings, sculptures, and photography. Established in 1988 as the Gallery at Arts Court, it has since evolved into a prominent contemporary art venue. The gallery offers free admission and features a diverse range of exhibitions and programs throughout the year.
It's free!!! How many places can you see group of seven paintings for free? This is a gorgeous property and would be stunning for a wedding reception. The galleries are small but well curated. The cafe, Jackson, run by le Germain hotel is amazing. And their annual art auction funds their operation, and is coming up shortly. Details in the photos.

Funny .., my son has lived in Ottawa almost two years and never visited the OAG. We were visiting for a long weekend and I saw on Instagram it was a great place to visit while in Ottawa. So away we went. I loved the very modern and trendy cafe, the exhibits were stunning and the gift shop superb. Everyone was clearly happy about being part of this community as they were super friendly and appreciative of the visit. I can't wait to return and give the bakery items and lattes a try. Cheers, Spicy Jan

It’s a beautiful space, and it’s great that this is accessible for everyone for free. There are several stories to go up and see their different galleries. You can definitely get through quite a bit in one visit. Aside from the art, it’s really a nice place to spend time in and they have a cafe inside too.

Staying In Ottawa for a couple months Strolled down to the art gallery for an afternoon enlightenment. I was pleasantly surprised by the Beautiful Art Architecture and the modern café. The openness of the gallery in the entrance, a separate floors helping you discover each unique theme I had a splendid time and we recommend this to anyone who is visiting the city or even people who live here who may have not discovered it yet Thank you, Ottawa. It was a pleasure.

Tour + Artivity= inspired!! I had an excellent time with our tour through several exhibits, and architectural highlights of the gallery. They was followed by an excellent linocut workshop with dozens of participants. I met great people, and came away inspired.

Perfect for a “what should we do today?” type spontaneous visit. The gallery is on multiple floors with multiple exhibition spaces with different showings and themes. There’s a cafe just by the right off the main street entrance that holds monthly(?) Draw and Sip events. Also a huge fan of the architectural style and how different elements were blended throughout the building (there are so many nice staircases!)

Nestled just a short drive from downtown Ottawa, the Cumberland Heritage Village Museum is a delightful journey back in time to the early 20th century. This expansive 100-acre site showcases an impressive collection of meticulously preserved buildings, including a charming general store, a quaint schoolhouse, and a rustic farmhouse. While many visitors flock to its outdoor spaces for picturesque photography opportunities, don’t overlook the unique indoor settings that offer authentic period-style backdrops perfect for capturing historical-themed moments.
The Vintage Village of Lights was beautifully done, not to mention very reasonably priced ($26/group of up to 6 people). We made our way around all the buildings, as well as the illuminated walking path, in about an hour. Lineup to see Santa was minimal, staff used a number system to keep track of who was next in line. We saw some leather making, woodworking, and printing in progress. We finished off with a snack at the cookie decorating station.

We went here for the Muslim Fest and it was a very good experience. The Heritage Village itself is a beautiful place and the festival made it so much more fun. Plus they had a drone show afterwards.

Lots of open parking without any charges and the security and volunteers did a great job. Looking forward for the same festival in Ottawa again. Enjoyed drone show for the first time.

EDIT: I don't want to wrongly blame anyone, but I got nails in my tires most likely while parking here (they had event parking in a grass field, in addition to their unpaved lot/road). Really nice as an event venue. The collection of heritage buildings is mid; but it's nice to attend an event there and stroll through the buildings when you need a few mins to relax.

Imagine stepping into a village frozen in the era of the 1920s-30s, a nostalgic time capsule waiting to be explored. Surrounding you are vintage homes, each piece of furniture echoing stories of a bygone era. The local press, school, carpentry, farm, garage, workshop, and church are pristine representations of that period. As you stroll, the townsfolk, draped in period attire, go about their daily lives. The village is buzzing with anticipation, as craftsmen are busy preparing for Christmas. With the hum of a 1930s machine, the carpenter skillfully crafts lathes, carts, and delicate wooden trinkets. The press churns out notebooks and gift bags using a 1920s printer, while the forge produces exquisite iron gifts. It's not just a visit; it's a mesmerizing journey back in time. Doesn't that sound enchanting?

A great experience for just about everyone I happened to be in the area running some errands when I saw this lovely recreation of what used to be the town about 100-125 years ago. The buildings are in great condition, the docents are excellent and helpful, all decked out in period clothing, speaking about the life experiences of their characters! I was there almost at closing time, yet they took me over the places I was most interested in seeing such as the one room schoolhouse. We talked about lots of things, such as demographics served, teaching conditions, students lives, lifecycle of the building (which was an actual school, not a replica) and the events surrounding its closure. All in all, CHV is a very engaging place, and it is a great outing, whether you are taking your out of town guests, your children or you just want to learn more about life in ON as it was during the Agricultural Era. NB: Pictures were taking by me during my visit.

Ferme Proulx Farm, a family-owned farm since 1920, is located just outside of Ottawa and offers a variety of activities for families. The farm hosts events such as Maple Fest with pancake breakfasts during maple syrup season and Pumpkin Fest in the fall. Visitors can enjoy pick-your-own strawberries, raspberries, and blueberries during the summer at the berry farm. Additionally, there are opportunities for berry picking at reasonable prices.
Great experience. The breakfast came with a good amount of actual maple syrup compared to other sugar bushes. The eggs and hashbrowns were really good and reasonable portions. Went at open and the line ups were reasonable. If you go midday you will wait in lines. Having horses for the wagon rides was great compared to other places which use tractors and the petting zoo was cute with goats running all over. Definitely recommend this place!

We enjoy a picking our own strawberries. We chose the hottest day that made our visit a bit unpleasant. Service was fast at the entrance and the tractor cart was convenient. It was nice to see the few farm animals. The goats were very cute. Strawberries were small but delicious.

Love it here!! Brings so many memories from when I was younger coming here with my family every year, to volunteering for skreamers and to now bringing my son to make more amazing memories! Definitely recommend going! During the day with family or for the spooky fun at night with friends! so many activities to do and they also have corn mazes and a super fun wagon ride! Can’t wait to go again next year!

Full-day fun for a young family! Giant haystacks to climb, play structures, a giant slide, corn maze and several bouncy castles. We went during the Halloween season and my kids (aged 6&8) really enjoyed it. Highlights were an inflatable haunted house and the pedal car ride. There was also a wagon wide to some other activities like a scavenger hunt in the woods that my kids were less interested in. They also let you bring your own food which we did. You can buy food there too. The entry fee is decent for healthy, outdoor fun that keeps the kids active and entertained for a whole day.

We had a great time! Ages of children ranged from 2 to 9 and all enjoyed themselves! Lots to do - lots of play structures for the kids to play on, wagon ride was nice and not scary since we had some really little ones, face painting was great, kids enjoyed the farm animals and hay stacks. Also, liked the BBQ set up with proceeds being donated. They also have picnic tables scattered so there's lots of space to sit with family and bring your own snacks. We will be back next year :)

The Rideau Canal National Historic Site is a captivating 202-kilometre waterway that links the Ottawa River to Lake Ontario, making it one of the most cherished attractions in Canada’s capital. This UNESCO World Heritage Site offers a variety of activities year-round, from leisurely summer strolls and bike rides along its scenic trails to witnessing the impressive lock system operated by Parks Canada. In winter, it transforms into the world’s largest ice-skating rink, stretching an incredible 7.
This is an excellent spot for ice skating when it is open. It took me about 45 minutes each way to skate the 7.8 km trail from one end to the other. Bring your own skates or buy a used pair because the skate rentals cost $33. I went at a perfect time: -3 degree temperatures during the afternoon after a cold night. The ice surface can be choppy at times and snow might cover some parts, but the experience is incredible, in the backdrop of other Winterlude activities in Ottawa.

The Rideau Canal is one of North America’s most cherished treasures! It’s the best-preserved “slack water” canal from the 19th-century canal-building era, and it still operates along its original route with most of its charming structures intact. Recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, it offers a wonderful opportunity to explore an iconic route. You’ll find informative boards that share the fascinating story of how and why the canal was built. This area is perfect for a leisurely stroll along the historic locks, with beautiful parklands surrounding you for enjoyable picnics and sightseeing—all without any entrance fee! Plus, there are washroom facilities available for your convenience. Come and discover the beauty of the Rideau Canal!
Bernie — Google review
It has to get extremely cold for the canal to freeze over, and finally this year it did. The canal team provide lots of facilities for you to be able to put your skates on in the warmth. Don’t forget to grab a beaver tail and a hot chocolate while you are there. Ice conditions vary so check their site before you go, it is updated regularly.

I have been living in Ottawa since 1998, and I just discovered this place by accident LOL. I gave my daughter a ride to university and I had time to kill, so I went for a walk and WOW. Great for picnics, walking and biking. Fantastic

The place is a fantastic mix of natural beauty and man-made features. There's plenty of free parking, making it easy for people to visit and enjoy. We loved the impressive rock formations, and the paths offer great views. We walked along one side of the waterway and then back down the other side. We also walked to Vincent Massey Park from here. Plus, there's a public washroom available however, during the warmer months.

Perfect place for a short loop - 20 to 30 minute stroll or walk! Feels like walking in a forest, lots of wildlife, and sound of nearby falls. The terrain is a little more strenous, would be challenging with strollers and very young kids but still manageable. Extremely pleasant nature space!

Enjoyed a quick visit to the park. The waterfalls make some lovely scenery and the path following the river has plenty of greenery. Walking the length of the park was much quicker than expected, so it seems better for chilling than long walks. Lots of parking but also quite busy on a hot Saturday in August.

Natural beauty in the midst of the hustle and bustle of Ottawa. Recommended to visit in the evening because the sunset view is just breathtaking. Remain careful and follow the guardrail since the water current is strong.

Really nice to have such man-made and natural features readily accessible and developed for people to enjoy all year round. The waterway is quite interesting with various rock formations and the paths provide some interesting views. Flying Squirrel Trampoline Park in Ottawa is an indoor amusement park that offers a wide range of activities for all ages. The 1,900 square meters of trampolines, ropes courses, and playgrounds provide endless fun for families looking to stay active. From jumping on trampolines to navigating ropes courses, there's something for everyone. The facility also features foam pits, dodgeball courts, and a large arcade.
We have an absolute blast every time!! The lineup in the first picture is not typical for Flying Squirrel at at (it actually wrapped all away behind the building and back) but it was that week between Christmas and new years. Also, when we finally got in we realized there were also like literally 8 or 9 birthday parties happening. They do have a great setup for parties, announcing when it’s time for cake for everyone from ____’s party, making it way easier to wrangle all the kids.
Lynn E — Google review
Decent Place, But Needs Work Flying Squirrel is definitely a fun spot for kids of all ages with tons of activities to burn off energy. The layout is engaging, there’s no shortage of things to do, and the overall cleanliness is okay — not spotless, but passable. That said, the experience left a bit to be desired. Staff supervision is hit or miss, and it feels like they hire anyone just to fill positions. Some employees were outright rude, and others seemed more interested in socializing or eating together while long lineups built up. Customer service really needs attention. The place was also uncomfortably humid during our visit — not sure if the A/C was broken, but they had all the doors wide open which made it worse. Not exactly ideal when you’re chasing kids around. They do have a solid sound system, but oddly it wasn’t being used to make the space more energetic or fun — kind of a wasted opportunity. It’s not a terrible place by any means, but there’s a lot of untapped potential. With better management and a stronger focus on customer experience, Flying Squirrel could be great.

We had our daughter’s 5th birthday party here and it went amazing. We booked on a Monday and it wasn’t busy at all which was really nice, our party host Khalid was extremely courteous & helped make things run smoothly. The food provided & extras purchased was tasty, especially the lemonade & mini donuts! This overall is a lot better of an experience than we’ve had at other similar type of play places, for a fair price in my opinion. It had a lot more to offer & was nicely renovated, no issues with cleanliness. The facility is pretty warm, but we also went on a very hot day which probably didn’t help. Definitely will be booking again!
Paris — Google review
Honestly, after reading these reviews, I got worried. My son BEGGED me to go this year for his birthday and I agreed despite what I read. I’m glad we went! The service was just phenomenal… the place was organized and clean… the party host kept checking in making sure we had everything! My son had the best birthday tonight and that means the world to any mom. So, thank you to our party host tonight (5:30-8pm party time - Aug 7) because she was truly the sweetest, most caring person we’ve been given for a party. I’ll definitely be coming back to use the park/trampolines. The reason this is only 4 stars is because the air conditioning felt like it needed to be lower. It was pretty warm in the sense the parents just watching were feeling very warm.
Sara B — Google review
We really love Flying Squirrel! There are 2 sections - the trampoline park and adventure park. We usually buy jumping passes as you can buy 10 1-hour jumps for a better price. I wish they had the same option for the Adventure Park side. It is clean and safe. Gets very busy on the weekends, though. I recommend going at opening with your kiddos. Make sure to sign the waiver before going. If your kids are teens, I recommend going late in the evening so they can have fun without being scared of hurting little kiddos. Staff is good but they are all young adults and some are better at watching the kids than others, ha! I would recommend watching your kids at all times, especially if they are younger. Overall, a fun, active outing for the kids!
Kim L — Google review
We were in town visiting and wanted to do something fun with our daughter while we were around. We heard great reviews about this place and it totally lived up to the hype. We bought our tickets and jump socks online and filled out the waivers online too - so the check in process was very fast. The employee at the desk accidentally forgot to give us bracelets, and it being our first time there we didn't know to say anything. About 30 mins into our 90 minute time slot, an employee who was supervising the larger trampoline section approached me about the lack of bracelet. When I explained that we weren't given one, he very politely explained why they were so important, and asked us to go speak to someone at the front desk to correct their mistake. The line at the front desk was huge at this point, so I approached two staff who were walking by. When I explained what had happened, the staff were very apologetic and stopped what they were doing to help us straight away. They never made us feel like we were an inconvenience which I appreciated. My husband and I both loved how safety focused the staff were. With so many different ages in one place, it really helped us feel at ease with our 4 y/o daughter. Overall, we had the best time, and can't wait to go back - next time we're definitely gonna check out the adventure park.

Excellent experience for my son's 8th birthday party yesterday (Wednesday evening from 530-8). Everyone had a blast. Love that there is access to the trampolines for the first hour and then following pizza and cake you have access to a whole other section (adventure park). Party hostess was amazing and all staff were very pleasant and helpful with the kids. Staff went above and beyond to help us find an important item that was lost. My son received a good quality squirrel stuffy as part of the party package and loved it. What a cute way to remind him of his party. Price was very good for this type of a party. Also felt that it was easier to have friends attend on a week day evening plus how much more enjoyable it was to not be crowded so overall a win. Absolutely recommend!
Sophie B — Google review
Fun place for the kids to run for an hour. Experience is expensive. We arrived at opening on a Wednesday and the floors were dirty. They definitely weren’t mopped. Duct tape holding the floor mats down. The staff all lack luster. They don’t greet you with a smile. The two employees that we interacted with spoke very low. At one point a young child (4-5 years old) ran into the Adventure Area but only have a trampoline band and the female employee slowly followed her and proceeded to say ‘yo… yo… yo’ to get her attention. I think the biggest problem at this place is that there is no signage that is big enough for anybody to know that the trampoline and the adventure park are two different fees. There should also be some type of gate to enter and leave the adventure part. This can be for safety, but also for ensuring that people have the right bracelets. I think in my hour of being in the adventure park I witnessed at least 10 people try and enter with jumping only bracelets.

Cosmic Adventures is an indoor play place located in Gloucester, at the east end of Ottawa, offering a fun-filled experience for kids of all ages. The facility features slides, climbing structures, ball pits, and a designated area for younger children. It's the perfect destination for families looking to have an enjoyable time on cold, hot, or rainy days. The playground is designed to accommodate adults as well, with various levels and textures to explore.
If you have an energetic toddler or maybe even a crawling infant, you're really not gonna regret getting the yearly pass at cosmic adventures. It just doesn't make sense to come here just once or twice here and there when it is almost $40 every time for your kid and yourself. I think one annual membership is about $180 (this includes tax). With this, you can have two adults go in with your child. Honestly, this was money well spent. I think I've come to cosmic 1-3 times a week. And it's been a couple months already since I bought the membership. Do the math. No regrets here. Some tips. The place is cleaner in the morning understandably, so if you can actually get here, come earlier. The toddler section is on the second floor. There's another toddler area on the first floor, so you can spend some time there and then head upstairs. That way, your toddler may feel like they're at a new place and not get bored.
Cat K — Google review
Cosmic Adventures is an iconic Ottawa entertainment centre and you need to check it out! I am an experienced babysitter so I’ve brought many children here and they love it! It’s definitely for the younger age groups due to the smaller areas. There is a toddler area, regular structure, arcade, food area, and upstairs area for the younger age groups. The food is expensive so it’s best to get a yearly membership because you get free admission all year and discounts on food. You cannot bring outside food so keep that in mind! While the kids enjoy, I catch up on my emails as they do have free WiFi! I played some of the arcade games with the kids and it was fun! More arcade games would be great! My only critique is I would love for them to renovate and make it more modern and make the food more affordable so families can enjoy the entertainment and not have to rush home or deuce elsewhere for food!
Tashelle J — Google review
I used to really enjoy Cosmic Adventure, especially because there was a quiet room for adults where I could relax and get some work done while the kids played. Unfortunately, that room has been removed. Now, music is playing loudly in every section, and each area has different tracks at the same time. Combined with the natural noise of children playing, it becomes overwhelming and even caused me a headache during my last visit. I kindly suggest reducing the background music volume, or keeping it in one designated area only. It would also be wonderful if you could bring back a quiet room for parents, as it made the experience much more enjoyable for families.
T-u T — Google review
If you're looking for a jungle gym experience that transcends the mundane, Cosmic Adventures is it. Seriously, this place is a Mecca. Forget your average, run-of-the-mill play structures; we're talking a multi-tiered, labyrinthine wonderland that'll have your kids disappearing into a vortex of pure, unadulterated fun. My kids, ranging from tiny tots to a surprisingly enthusiastic 12-year-old, were absolutely mesmerized. What struck me most? Beyond the sheer scale of the play area (which, let's be honest, is mind-boggling), was the cleanliness. You know how these places can sometimes feel...questionable? Not Cosmic Adventures. Every surface gleamed, every ball pit looked pristine, which is a massive relief when you're letting your kids loose in a whirlwind of shared play. The sheer variety of activities is astounding. From slides that seem to defy gravity to tunnels that twist and turn into the unknown, there's something to capture every child's imagination. And for those of us who need a moment to catch our breath? The seating area is comfortable and offers a decent view of the chaos (in a good way!). However, there's one significant drawback that needs to be addressed: the adult entry fee. Charging $13 plus tax for adults who are primarily there to supervise their children feels excessive. While I understand the push for season passes, it's not reasonable to expect every parent to commit to that. Paying over $55 for my child to play while my wife and I essentially stand and watch felt unfair. A significantly reduced rate for supervising adults would make the experience much more enjoyable and family-friendly. Honestly, if you have kids up to 13, you need to experience Cosmic Adventures. It's not just a place to burn off energy; it's an adventure, a memory-maker, and a testament to how awesome indoor play spaces can be. Five stars for the kids' experience, but the adult pricing policy definitely needs a rethink.

Perfect spot to get kids active or socialising, especially if the weather is challenging. Place is relatively safe, but it is fair to expect some headbumps and trips as kids run around. There are smaller closed areas for toddlers only. They have electronic toys too, but you need to buy credits to use those. They have washroom, diaper changing stations and places to sit down, including a small area where no kids are allowed. They have a food court, food is not allowed with the playing structures, of course.

I've gone twice now with my 2 year old and he loves the Toddler sections. Its a little overstimulating for younger ones with all the flashing lights, music and arcade games, but we like to visit every 6 months or so for something new to do! The park features picturesque gardens and a charming sugar shack where new Canadian citizens have been welcomed in special ceremonies.

The employee was kind and let us know where the two exhibits were located (permanent vs temporary). It’s a neat spot to learn about the history of the Vanier area. We spent about 30-40 minutes but did not read all of the material available.

This is an incredible organization. The staff are amazing, simply put. I love the events they organize for the community like the annual Sugar Festival and Summer Camps. They recently hosted a ceremony for new Canadian citizens in their beautiful, brand new sugar shack. Thank you for being a wonderful hub for our Vanier community to be proud of! ❤️

The Ottawa Dragon Boat Race Festival is known as the largest dragon boating festival in North America. It's a four-day celebration that includes free concerts, sports demonstrations, artisanal exhibits, delicious food, and non-stop racing. VERY RUDE security and terrible security measure. Mooney's Bay Park is a municipal facility and bike path. The security demanded to have our bags checked and water bottle dumped on a day of 29°C sunny day. We're not even participating in the events but simply using the bike path as a cyclist. Security refused to present his security license which is also ridiculous

"Puppets Up!" is a delightful festival that hosts PuppetCon, featuring amazing workshops for kids and families. Participants can learn to create puppets from unconventional materials like umbrellas or foam/latex, followed by a hilarious family-friendly puppet show about pirates. The event showcases the hard work of talented puppeteers and offers a lovely marketplace with something for every age group. While it may be challenging to reach without a car, visitors find it to be a charming and unique experience worth attending.
Such a charming and unique experience! I was so happy that it came back this year. I visited all the time as a kid. Even now I find that I enjoy the experience. Puppetry is hard work and they always host the best of the best troupes to perform, so you can really admire all the effort put into them! The marketplace is also very lovely, and there is definitely something for each age group to enjoy. Only downside is that it's a bit difficult to get to if you don't live in the area or have a car. Bought two little puppets from the Marketplace: A crocheted Super Grover puppet and a wooden duck string puppet.

Rideau Canal, Locks 1 - 8 in Ottawa is a historic site with manually operated locks dating back to the 19th century. The canal is popular for kayaking, cycling tours, and camping. The Bytown Museum near the last lock tells fascinating stories about Ottawa's history and the construction of the canal supervised by Colonel John By. A Celtic cross commemorates the workers who lost their lives during its construction.
The Rideau Canal in Ottawa is an amazing place, especially if you love beautiful scenery and peaceful, picturesque views. I visited on a fairly cool day with very few people around, which only added to the charm. The fresh air and calm atmosphere made the walk special. The canal and its surroundings are full of interesting angles, practically begging to be photographed. For a photographer, it’s a true gem where you can capture stunning shots and find inspiration. Despite the weather, the day turned out to be very pleasant, and I enjoyed every minute of it.
Denys S — Google review
Because of it's proximity to the Parliament Building and other historical sites, we sat and watched the Locks as they were opened for boats wanting to go through. We learned a lot about the Locks on during our tour on the Lady Dive amphibious bus including that the Locks are still opened by man power (whoa). The process does take quite a while to happen, but it's quite fascinating to watch indeed. If it's not a hot or cold day and you're not tired, you can probably sit through the entire process while chatting with a friend or enjoying your lunch.
Aida — Google review
A very pleasant walk along the canal and the locks. With views of grand buildings, wildlife, and the other side of the water, definitely check out this place.

Patrick V — Google review
The most wonderful place in Ottawa, without a doubt. During our time in Ottawa, we came here every day, spending hours watching the boats being lifted through the historic locks and winding down each evening at the foot of the canal. For those seeking a real highlight, catching a sunset here on a clear day is a must. But even from the bridge, the sunset has its own unique charm.

Rideau Sports Centre is a highly recommended facility in the area, offering a clean and well-equipped gym with engaging fitness and yoga classes. The instructors are knowledgeable and friendly, providing fun and challenging sessions. The center features 4 outdoor tennis courts, 8 indoor courts, and offers tennis coaching. Additionally, they provide facilities for yoga and soccer. The adult tennis program has received praise for its wonderful instructors despite some challenges with the website's user-friendliness.
As a photographer who shot a wedding here, this is a lovely warm intimate venue for weddings that had great staff and beautiful character.

Friendly summertime vibe. Lots of activity with kid’s camps heading into their final stretch. The pickleball courts (full disclosure I’m one of the instructors) have been an excellent addition to the sports complex. It’s been great seeing the kids being able to enjoy pickleball along with the super tennis camp action. What a benefit to having young athletes cross trained in both court sports at such an early age.👏

It has been exactly one year since I started playing tennis here. I met great people, I learned a lot. Everyone is friendly and down to earth. I am happy to finally find a place outside of work, school, and home.

A really great sports club with tonnes of different options. They have fabulous outdoor tennis courts, pickles all and other racquet sports. They have a restaurant and pub on-site. There's a great fitness facility with classes. They have a pool as well. There's fire pits and picnic tables available for groups to rent. The facilities are clean and well-maintained. I think the prices are a bit high, but its a high quality sport centre.
Rachel F — Google review
Did a quick walk to rideau sports centre to question about the tennis courts. They had 4 outdoor courts and 8 no of indoor courts. I believe they provide tennis coaching. Anybody can come play by just paying the rent to use the courts and they are well maintained. They also have yoga, soccer as well. This centre has a restaurant and parking space.
Kanagarethinam K — Google review
For the fitness classes and facilities, it’s not too good. Not great selection, not great times, not enough strength classes. And some pretty lazy instructors who don’t give pointers or even pay attention to what people are doing in their classes. Plus it just smells terrible with the kitchen jammed in there.
Joel H — Google review
I will caveat off the bat that I only purchased a membership for the purpose of attending yoga classes. Instructors and other staff are friendly, though the instructors are not the most professional. I find they don’t adhere to the typically yoga class culture (eg. Soft tone of voice, emphasis on guidance and cueing) and one of the instructors did not remember the sequence, providing different instructions for poses starting on the right side versus the left side (I do understand that off days can happen though, so maybe this is not typical for them). I also found with another instructor that there was a lot of talk about things unrelated to the class and practice. Which for some may be entertaining, it’s just not my preference. Nonetheless, the hot yoga classes are more challenging and varied than others I have tried and I appreciate the challenge. The one issue is the heat. Hot classes are very hot. Instructors frequently tilt the doors open for a few moments to cool things down but it is not enough. The thermostat read 38 degrees. The first time I saw this I thought it was a fluke, but this happened at my second class too. Others in the class also raised this concern. The studio spaces are also not the most aesthetically interesting. The hot room is in a basement and it does feel like a basement space. Though I guess you can’t expect yoga studio standards at a tennis club. I think the $40 three week trial is worth trying. But if your primary interest is the fitness classes, not sure this is the right spot for that. Giving a 4 star review because I understand that the focus of the centre is not yoga and I have not tried out the other services. However, I would give the fitness classes 3/5 at best.
A R — Google review
I want to like this place. I really, really do. The staff are friendly, there are lots of possibile things to do, and it's an excellent location. However, every time I go, there's just something that screams lack of preparedness and thought. Sometimes it's something like nets being locked away, or classes being cancelled on short notice. It can be smaller things like an packed pool, but 1/4 reserved for lane swimming that absolutely no one is using. Or even the prohibitively expensive family season passes for the pool ($400, versus a day pass for $20 for two adults) The restaurant also has a lot of problems, which isn't explicitly the RSC's fault, but I feel like they ought to be able to force them to improve. There is so much potential here, but I always leave here mildly disappointed.

Festival
The Gatineau Hot Air Balloon Festival is a huge festival in early September where people can watch all sorts of creative and unique balloons take to the sky. It's known for its beautiful scenery, and often sees only a few balloons in the sky at any one time due to the wind. This event is definitely worth checking out if you're in the area!
It was such an amazing event! You can really get close and speak with the owner operators at the morning event. We arrived at 630 and had a chance to watch all of the balloons get blown up and really see the hard work that goes into the event. Parking and access are made easy , and the morning event is completely free. We took the entire family and we didn't pay for the event or parking. The kids had a blast. Thanks again for such a cool event we will be sure to return again. Cheers.

My coworkers were visiting from Toronto and we were super lucky to find out that they're launching from Gatineau Airport. We headed there as early as 6AM and it was THE experience. Never seen a hot air balloons up close. Adding to that the whole process of opening and inflating the ballon until lift off.. Core memory unlocked.

DO NOT BUY THE CARNIVAL PASS. SAVE YOUR MONEY. DON'T EVEN GO TO THE CARNIVAL. We bought weekly bracelets, and the first two night it rained. OK so we didn't go, that's not their fault. 3rd night, we got there at 7:30. We were not told we had to go get bracelets at a secondary location. There was no signage to the ticket booth. We waited in line for over an hour before being told we needed tickets AT THE GATE. So we made our way to customer service to figure out WHERE to get the bracelets since there is no clear signage anywhere. We finally got them, went in line for another ride. WAITED 2 (TWO) HOURS IN LINE. Only to be told at the very front that the ride was now closed since it was 11:30. TO RECAP, WE WERE AT THE CARNIVAL FOR 4 HOURS AND HAD TIME TO DO NO CARNIVAL RIDES WHICH WAS THE ONLY REASON WE WERE THERE TO BEGIN WITH. We wasted time and money for a half organized mess. The drive to and from the festival was more enjoyable than the actual time spent on the premises.
Laura — Google review
I didn't pay to enter but waited 2 hours for the night glow across the water. It's suppose to start at 7:45pm. Around 8:15 they finally started to inflate. Then at 8:45pm they started to deflate. Didn't even go up. Waited hours for nothing. At least I didn't spend any money, I'd be upset if I did. I get the weather has to be perfect but damn, don't advertise it as a balloon festival if they only go up once in a while. It should be advertised as an exhibition that happens to have balloons that you might be able to see if you're lucky.
J S — Google review
The best festival of the summer only good vibes
Reine Q — Google review
Had a poor experience because we came from out of town solely to see the hot air balloons (not the concert or midway games). I get that the balloons are weather dependent (and the organizers will probably respond to this review reminding me of that) and they require perfect weather conditions for takeoff. It's just frustrating because on the day we went (Aug 29) it rained in the morning and early afternoon, but it was clear and sunny after 5pm (so we were hopeful), but they had already cancelled the balloons for the entire day. I wish they could have at least inflated some balloons and not take off, so we can at least enjoy some balloon views at this "hot air balloon festival", but we got nothing unfortunately. Left a very poor taste for our family. My advice for anyone else coming to this event mainly to see the hot air balloons: DO NOT purchase your tickets well in advance. Purchase tickets a day before or day of only if the weather is sunny and not too windy. I wish I didn't purchase my tickets in advance (which are not cheap) and wasted my time in the afternoon coming to the festival. Or do not purchase tickets at all, you can view the balloons from the bridge for free apparently, just look it up on Google/Reddit.
Brian L — Google review
Treat your self at the balloon festival ,very good cookies to bring at the balloon ride and good music

I was told that it would be easy to book an off-festival hot air balloon ride and spoke to the person in charge of scheduling balloon rides for months in advance about my preferred dates - as I was planning around a milestone birthday for my spouse. And then, on the exact day he told me to write to him to schedule the flight, the person in charge leaves on vacation and I'm not able to get in touch with anyone at the balloon festival office while he's away despite leaving multiple emails and a voicemail. We ended up missing my spouse's birthday and I'm extremely disappointed.

Very cool! Path is hand laid stones, very easy to walk on, walk is about 20 mins. Dinosaurs are very neat, signage needs replacing but who really needs to know their names anyways, they're just neat! Bring bug spray - there was a few mosquitoes.
Savannah M — Google review
We took our 6 and almost 3 year old grandchildren today. It seemed quiet, but it had just stopped raining when we arrived. This place is amazing. Its a path through the woods with different dinosaurs statues, and a little info at each one. This is not a money grab. There is no gift shop, or food, there is a large picnic area so you can bring in your own food. It was $10 for adults, and $6 (i think). For the 6 year old. 3 and under are free. The kids ran from spot to spot, it was relaxed and overall a terrific afternoon. I definitely recommend it if you have someone who loves dinosaurs, or if you're just looking for something fun and affordable to do with your little ones. The only thing you may need to know is there are porta potties in the parking lot, and that's all i saw for bathrooms. Our potty training grandson made it through no problem. Bring some hand sanitizer, there is some inside the building, but not in the porta potties.
Monique B — Google review
Perfect for Toddlers! My 3 and 5 years olds had an absolute blast. The place is all fenced so you can let them run free, and the trails are paved, well marked and very plain, no cliffs or places they could fall. They were super excited to see all the dinosaurs! Bring shovels for the big sandbox with fossils. The picnic area is gorgeous. The only caveat is that they only take cash and the bathrooms are chemical booths, which is very difficult for potty training guests. But 100% recommend.

This course is now open and we played on the second day of opening. Beautiful par 3, 9 hole course located in Kanata. The greens and tee boxes were in great condition. There is some water spillover from the traps into the edges of the fairway but it does not disrupt play. The course is easy to walk and there are also pull carts and golf carts for rental if needed. Front desk staff were very helpful.
Chris — Google review
The staff and grounds crew do an excellent job. However, I give the course 4 stars, not because of the course but the people who play it. For a par 3 course it is excellent but being a par 3 you get beginners. Beginners who pull their carts across greens. Beginners who don't replace their divots. Beginners who will stop and talk on the green, after puttin in, while two groups are waiting for them to leave. I had to yell "fore" to get them to move. Otherwise I love it. Photo is from my hole in one shot.

The Kanata Leisure Centre and Wave Pool is a spacious recreational facility located just a short drive from Ottawa central. The center enforces strict safety rules, ensuring a secure environment for families to enjoy. While some visitors found the main pool slightly chilly and noted strong chlorine levels, many appreciated the attentive staff, smooth ticketing process, and overall cleanliness of the facility.
The sauna is hot hot hot but super small so sometimes you need to wait, the hot tub is also hot hot hot and the pool temperature is nice. Wave swim isnt too strong but can get super super busy especially during winter holidays. I also love the cold water dump bucket but wish there was another or it were larger. Went today for the wave swim and told the life guard that there was poop floating in the pool, he saw it then told other staff members about it but because they lost the poop in the pool they just left everyone swimming in it, then told them about a bandaid and the life guard ignored us. Not impressed at all.

The lifeguards seemed attentive which was refreshing too even if one did call me "mam" when I was in the wrong place lol. Super affordable. Pools and facility seemed clean considering so many people. Btw, trying to swim lengths during a wave pool swim makes zero sense so if you're reading this and thinking about it.... just stop really.

This impressive facility boasts a 25-meter lap pool with six lanes and diving boards, making it an ideal spot for swimming enthusiasts. Beyond the water, visitors can enjoy amenities like badminton courts, weightlifting areas, and even an elevated walking track that offers a unique perspective of the complex. Families will appreciate the gender-neutral changerooms and lockers available for convenience.
Amazing quality recreation complex. Everything is new and modern. Great service from staff. Clean. Well-run. Played hockey here today. I love the ice. There were some bumps and the bench boards are too high to jump over but otherwise, great rink.
Steve A — Google review
A modern, well-maintained and bustling recreation complex serving Barrhaven and surrounding neighborhoods, with friendly and welcoming staff. In addition to standard amenities like rinks, swimming pools, playground, and weight/cardio rooms, the complex offers a unique indoor walking track on the second floor, perfect for winter walks. The only drawback is that it can get quite crowded, often operating at full capacity.
VideoLover N — Google review
Honestly one of the best recreation complexes in the city, the amenities are so nice, the change rooms in the rink are massive compared to the likes of Bell Centennial. The swimming pool is great as well, there is nothing to complain about. It's also great for birthday parties. No doubt in my mind giving this a 5 star

The Minto Recreation Complex in Barrhaven is an outstanding facility for the whole community! The building is modern, bright, and well-maintained, offering everything from a state-of-the-art fitness center and swimming pool to beautiful skating rinks and multipurpose rooms. Staff are always welcoming, professional, and go the extra mile to make sure visitors have a great experience. The fitness center is equipped with top-quality machines, the aquatic center is perfect for both serious swimmers and families, and the ice rinks are excellent for hockey and recreational skating. There’s also plenty of free parking, and the layout makes it easy to navigate. Whether you’re looking for a workout, a swim, a skate, or a place for community programs, Minto Recreation Complex has it all. Barrhaven is lucky to have such a first-class facility right in the neighborhood!

Aweome, most welcoming, Minto Recreation Complex in Half Moon Bay area of Barrhaven, Ottawa, offers great facilities for swimming, playing badminton, basketball, badminton, ice hokey, skiing, skating. The complex can also be assessed in terms beautiful architectural design, getting spacious rooms, systematic approach to enjoy the sportive facilities.

Beautiful facility. Here for a hockey tournament and it must be great to have such a neat facility available to residents. Two ice pads, gym, pool, exercise room, etc... Very clean and well kept as well. Architecture is nice with all the window space.
Drew H — Google review
After visiting this facility on and off for 10 years now, it is one of the cleanest of the multi purpose rec centres in Ottawa. Great ice rinks, really nice pool. Zero complaints

This park is a great place to take a break, relax and enjoy the shade of the trees. It also has benches for sitting and tables for snacks. There is usually a lot of activity going on here, making it an ideal spot for meeting friends or spending some quality time alone. The park also honors women who have experienced or been killed by domestic violence with a monument/memorial.
An amazing little parks right in downtown Ottawa. The tree canopy is amazing. A couple monuments in the park. There are few benches and seats and take some take out and sit in this park and have your meal. It is so pleasant.

Went here for the Ottawa dyke march and rally, as well as the cute little queer market that was held there afterwards, and had a lovely time! Was nice to have an accessible queer event and have other disabled queer people around! Park has paved paths too which was great for those of us who use mobility aids as it means it’s a lot easier/more possible for us to actually get around! It’s a cute little park and has some very nice big trees, perfect for picnics and walks!
Myth — Google review
Note: Photos from fall 2022. This is a small but interesting park in the Golden Triangle neighbourhood. There are many beautiful trees and several benches where one can sit down. There is also a wide range of public art, from the poignant memorial to women who have suffered or been killed by domestic violence, to the bust of General Jose de San Martin (one of the leaders of South America's independence movement), to recent sculptures installed along Elgin Street from Montreal sculptor Francis Montillaud.
James C — Google review
This small neighbourhood park has plenty of sitting and large old trees. Although it is relatively narrower one can enjoy this little green space.
Petre D — Google review
Nice chill little park with lots of benches and trees for shade.
K K — Google review
This park is just right for a little break. Sitting on a bench and enjoying the beautiful trees or just strolling through. There are no play structures there but you will see kids running and playing, enjoying the park as is. This park is also dog friendly.😊
Martina H — Google review
Alright so this park has a great ratio of tree to space, I swear it’s 5-10 degrees cooler than the sidewalk creating its own microclimate. Lots of benches and tables, including some chess tables
Cameron G — Google review
This is a small green space just off of Elgin Street in Ottawa. It's a nice casual place to gather with friends for a coffee and chat. Not a sports field. Not for running around. Lots of grass. A few benches A few picnic tables

I recently went to a hockey tournament at Bell Sensplex, a well-organized sports complex. The event ran smoothly, with games starting on time and minimal wait times for vaccine passport checks. Attendees were provided wristbands for the weekend, which allowed for easy access based on trust. The facility itself was impressive, boasting excellent arenas and spacious change rooms. However, due to its popularity, finding parking could be challenging for players during busy tournament weekends.
4 rinks and N indoor soccer and baseball area. Can’t comment on the turf section but the rinks are nice and rooms are clean, there is a restaurant and bar so you can have a pint and watch hockey. Lots of parking and close to hotels if you are there for a tournament. Would definitely recommend this place. .
Jason L — Google review
I’ve been partying at the soccer turf since 2016. I don’t think the turn manager has a good turf maintenance plan. I think they revamped the turf a few years ago because it got quite worn out but I’m certain it takes more to keep the turn in high quality and good shape There are areas with bumps and exposed concrete which is dangerous. Lawsuit waiting to happen. The ventilation system is also very loud. Bad turf is risky for joints and is a trip hazard. If you’re curious about what good turf looks like just visit the Neighbour domes.
Salah M — Google review
We had the Fall Classic Hockey Tournament there . Four hockey rinks!! Nice cafeteria. Big parking, but it was hard to find a spot sometimes. They opened extra parking because of the number of people .
Cris F — Google review
Large facility in the heart of Kanata. Close to the hay and major side roads. There is alot of parking however it is also an extremely busy facility and parking can be hard to find. Parkingbat other local businesses walking is sometimes the better option. I have been to the field house many times but there are also hockey rinks. There are lots of restaurants and stores nearby.
Robert T — Google review
Had a good experience as a vendor on the turf field. There's plenty of parking. The facility is clean and spacious.
Fré — Google review
I have no idea what people are raving about. This place is run down, filthy and not complemented by the clientele. The amount of truly shocking, abusive and toxic behaviour was astounding. Do all you just see this and ignore it? Aren't you embarrassed? Child Protective Services and University Psych programs should setup here and just watch.
Julie J — Google review
Attended a girl's hockey tournament on the weekend. It was well run: the games were on time. Only had to line up once for the vaccine passport. We were give a wrist band for the weekend. After that it seemed to work on the honor system. Great facility.

First class hockey establishment with a great indoor soccer pitch. Wish there were many more of these. Pub/restaurant on the second floor. They should add a swimming pool and outdoor fields and they would have a world class sports development club. Cool reminder sign for parents too.

Mini Golf
Most of the balls are very worn down, dead and need replacement. The grass tee deck is fairly uneven. It’s probably one of the lower cost buckets in the city, but you get what you pay for. Would be good place for beginners who just want to try out the game.
Andrew E — Google review
Firstly, my brother and I tried the mini putt, 18 holes was okay at best. The green on almost each hole was often wrinkled, not maintained and ripped up; We had fun regardless, however, upon leaving, I found a single spare ball upon exiting the course, which I simply handed to a couple of guys who were just arriving to hit the driving range, and the old woman behind the counter began to scold her customers about taking a single ball. Instead of calmly asking us, she’s yelling at us demanding the ball back. It’s a beautiful hot sunny day, lots of people love to play golf, but after that experience, it’s clear to me why this business is quiet. For that, I’ll happily spend my money elsewhere.
Michael C — Google review
This place is a dump The grass is trash and no where to hit from. We spent over 80 Dollars on balls. Hitting driver outside the line. The old lady that runs the place came and gave us shit. I was trying to teach my brother some tips on hitting driver. She then says you guys have been here over an hour there’s no teaching. It was me my brother and two nephews and she comes over acting like this. I’d suggest going elsewhere so you don’t have to deal with that
Eric — Google review
Honestly not even worth one star . Took our two teens to the range with my wife today and my daughter used a borrowed club . She didn’t even hit the ball the club let alone the grass so my son lent her a club. The lady at the window accused her of bending the head when it was already crap and bent . She tries to tell her buy her own clubs and knows a guy at the stittesvill market that sells ones and is there all the time . No thanks . We also played mini putt and its uneven , rouge surface just junk. The only decent part of this experience was the water was not over priced . Skip this place…shows people do as nobody was there . Garbage
Matthew M — Google review
We decided to come here to warm up at the driving range before heading to the golf course next door. It was me, my boyfriend, my brother, and his girlfriend. We didn’t even say or do anything (we were literally just standing and waiting for my boyfriend to pay) when the staff immediately accused him of being a golf instructor trying to make money off her driving range. I explained he’s my boyfriend, and she snapped, “Don’t tell me he’s your boyfriend.” We felt completely disrespected and singled out. It really seemed like she assumed the worst just because we’re Asian and my boyfriend isn’t. We hadn’t even paid yet before getting treated so badly that we just decided to leave. Terrible customer service, unwelcoming atmosphere, and possibly racist attitude. Don’t waste your money or your time here, go somewhere that actually wants your business.
Amy P — Google review
Never experienced racism towards my boyfriend’s family and I until we came here today. We wanted to play for fun then an old grumpy lady started accusing one of us to be a pga pro “teaching” us lessons. She continued saying stuff that were very racially motivated to the point where we just decided to leave and not wanted to deal with this bullshit.
Micah A — Google review
Worst place ever. We got there to hit a couple balls in the range and when we got there, a lady greeted someone in my group who was paying with how he can't teach anyone and how PGA instructors come and steal money from her by teaching which I doubt. Also she assumed that we were taking lessons because we were a group of 3 Asians and the guy who was paying was white. She was saying how the white guy with us was teaching lessons and stealing from her by teaching but he's never even been there before in his life so I highly don't recommend anyone who isn't caucasian to go unless you go alone or until she is gone from that facility because from what I hear this is one of many incidents that are similar and they all involve her.
Anthony P — Google review
Stay away! There are plenty of other driving ranges in the area where you will at least be treated with some resemblance of customer service. Judging by the other reviews it seems to be the same individual being disrespectful. Absolutely shameful behaviour. Do yourself a favour and spend your money elsewhere!!

RiverOak Ice Skating Trail, located just 30 minutes from downtown Ottawa, offers a delightful winter experience with its well-maintained trails passing through orchards, forests, and meadows. Visitors can enjoy skating or snowshoeing and even play hockey or ringette on the wide and groomed trails. The friendly staff adds to the welcoming atmosphere, while amenities such as skate rentals, helmets, and snowshoes are available on-site.
Very beautiful trail through their orchard and surrounding trees. Twists and turns, ups and downs and 4 little hockey rinks throughout. The trails are well maintained even after a big snowfall and the staff very nice. They have a small outside stand where you can get snacks, a hot beverage or even the cider made directly from their apples to enjoy along the trail. We will definitely be back here again.
Kayla R — Google review
Had a lovely time. Came for the Valentines Day special, got a medium pizza, hot chocolate, smores by the fire and lots of skating fun. The lights around the trail are so beautiful and really add to the experience. Inside the cabin gives you a very cottage-like atmosphere. There was even a very friendly dog walking around saying hello to everyone. It was so enjoyable, we will definitely want to come back next year.

River Oak Skating Trail – Rating: 4/5 A good trail, but requires physical endurance. Approximate time 8 minutes Pros: ✅ Ice quality – smooth, no cracks or potholes. ✅ Atmosphere – located in the forest, protected from the wind. ✅ Additional areas – three hockey rinks for casual skating. ✅ Comfortable lounge area – spacious indoor seating with sofas and board games. ✅ Food and drinks available. ✅ Few people – no overcrowding. ✅ Free parking. Cons: ❌ Bumpy surface – makes skating more challenging. ❌ Significant elevation changes – half of the trail is an uphill climb, while the other half is a fast downhill ride, which can feel out of control. ❌ Not suitable for beginners – difficult terrain. ❌ High physical effort required – especially for uphill sections. ❌ Poor connectivity – weak mobile signal and no accessible Wi-Fi. Verdict: A great spot for experienced skaters looking for a challenge and a workout. Beginners may struggle, but for those comfortable on skates, it’s an exciting and enjoyable experience.

What an awesome experience! We live close by and this year we got a seasons pass. We loved skating at night and during the day. The atmosphere including music, lights and fireplaces/pits make this a magical place. We can’t wait to return next year!

Nice place for a skate, paths are decent, very rustic main building. Lots of outdoor fires to sit and warmup.

So fun! Easy to drive to out of the city and super Friendly staff. The warming huts and rinks around are really fun.
Anne C — Google review
Very cool experience! Many of the paths through the woods had lights strung for night skating. There were some rough patches and a section that was closed, but clearly a lot of work went into providing this experience. The lodge had a singer playing guitar, there were washrooms easily accessible and there was even a shelter with firepit along one of the trails. I will definitely try to do this once a year!

Jack Purcell Park is a fenced-off area located in Ottawa's downtown core, just a few minutes from Elgin street. It provides a safe space for dogs to run off leash and socialize with others. The park features smooth gravel ground, making it ideal for running and keeping pets clean. There are shaded areas with benches and a water fountain that includes a bowl for dogs. Additionally, the park is conveniently situated near pet-friendly restaurants on the patio.
Although small, this park has a lot to offer. From a fenced-in dog park to a tennis court to a picnic table. This well utilized green space serves the community very well.
James C — Google review
The park is along my usual walking route, and I often see children and teenagers playing inside the fenced-off area. There are also a few benches where you can sit and relax. However, the park itself is quite small overall I would say.

Walking path through the park connecting Waverley street, some benches and a picnic table. Would be a nice area for games in the grass but there's often dogs off leash. Love dogs, they are well behaved but can't be sure they're always picked up after.
M D — Google review
The park part is not that great, however it is a dog friendly park as it has some fox facilities.
Petre D — Google review
Wonderful locals with well behaved dogs frequent this fully-enclosed park. There is a dog-friendly water fountain on site and picnic tables for humans to sit.
Rosie S — Google review
This a great off leash Dog Park located in the downtown core of Ottawa. It's not too big so it's easy to keep an eye on your pet. Most people that go are very friendly and true animal lovers. I have never seen any problems (pets or people). My dog goes crazy in the car as soon as he sees the park. You should check it out.
Allan M — Google review
Not much of a dog park but was ok for a quick. I was in Ottawa to pick up my daughter and head home to Toronto so it gave Hazel the time to play and meet some dogs in the Capital. Justin was not here! Do they have a dog?
