5 Stars – A Perfect Father’s Day Staycation! We stayed here for Father’s Day and couldn’t have asked for a better experience. From start to finish, the staff went above and beyond to make our stay feel extra special. Every little detail—from the warm hospitality to the thoughtful touches—made the celebration feel elevated and memorable. The hotel is in a great location, especially for families. If you have kids, this place is definitely worth checking out. It strikes that rare balance between luxury and family-friendliness. The food was a highlight—everything we tried was excellent. The breakfast buffet especially stood out: high quality, fresh, and full of options that went well beyond the typical spread. Overall, it was a really wonderful Father’s Day and an ideal spot for a San Diego staycation. Whether you’re celebrating a special occasion or just looking to relax close to home, this hotel delivers in every way. Highly recommended!

I stayed in a suite with a courtyard view, and my room was very spacious. The lobby, pool facilities, hotel grounds, and bar were all very well kept. I particularly liked the adults-only pool and hot tub, as the main pool was loud with many children. The front desk and valet staff were very attentive and answered all of our questions and requests in a timely manner.

Park Hyatt Aviara is absolutely beautiful!! We stayed 4 nights and it was wonderful! They even exceeded our highest expectations! Each staff member was well groomed with five star service mentality! Special mention of Tyler, Annie, Amir and Alex 💓 they were superbly attentive and first class 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 Food was fabulous! Adult pool is beautiful and relaxing. Rooms were impeccable in every way, supremely clean, looked freshly painted, with new furniture and high quality linens .. super comfortable bed and furniture. Everything was fresh and house keeping on their A game! The whole resort is fantastic and extremely well taken care of … meticulously maintained with a spirit of excellence! I highly recommend Park Hyatt Aviara and would definitely come back! The Miraval Spa was a healing oasis! A heavenly experience of serenity and tranquillity 🌺 Super clean. Side note, we prefer a peaceful, private quiet corner and we were very fortunate that Hyatt accommodated our request to perfection! We got the top floor - suite 505 and it was spacious and beautiful and perfect for my husband and I. Plus it has a GORGEOUS view of golf course, mountains, lagoon and Pacific Ocean in the distance. Love you Park Hyatt Aviara!! Tip of the hat to your leadership and whole team!

I had a wonderful stay at Hyatt Park! The place is extremely pet-friendly, which made traveling with my dog so easy and comfortable. The service was highly professional and attentive—every detail was handled perfectly. The room itself was beautiful, private, and well-maintained, creating a really relaxing atmosphere. I also really appreciated the late checkout, which made the whole experience even better. Overall, everything felt thoughtful, seamless, and discreet—definitely a place I’d love to come back to જ⁀➴ᥫ᭡⊹₊⋆

Was here to attend a friend’s wedding and had the best time. The he rooms were spacious, well equipped and had spectacular views. The food options at the hotel were amazing too. The only thing I think the place could improve on is the late night snack and food options. It’s a popular hotel with weddings and I believe the late night snack option would’ve been amazing. Also, I was surprised to see that there was no minibar. I walked in wanting to grab a beer out of the mini fridge, but there was none available. Opportunity lost, but overall had an amazing experience. Would definitely recommend, esp for gold lovers it’s a great place to be.
Prateek A — Google review
A resort of true luxury and great service!! I really enjoy the adult pool with fantastic mountain view. Water is crystal clear (not the kids pool which is understandable. No one can keep the kids pool clean all the time). The golf course ⛳️ is amazing 😻. Driving range is complimentary if you stay at the hotel.

Five Star Resort - Globalist Treatment Reviewed May 24, 2024 My wife and I enjoyed our one night stay at the Park Hyatt Aviara Resort in Carlsbad. The resort is in a quiet area east of I-5 with sweeping views of canyons and a distant ocean view. The landscaping is maintained perfectly and the entire property is clean and extremely safe. Our room was upgraded to a beautiful one bedroom suite with two balconies overlooking the central courtyard area. The suite/rooms were very nicely appointed and maintained...definitely befittting a five-star property. The suite was comfortable and very spacious. Staff at check in and at the restaurant were all very professional. Breakfast at the restaurant was very tasty and plentiful with the Globalist "benefits". We were very pleased with the resort, the staff and the experience overall and would happily return for another visit. Date of stay: April 2024

This was my first time my family and I stayed at this resort and it will not be my last. This hotel really caters to all families and the service it provides is unlike anything I have experienced. The rooms were clean, the service was the best and catered to all our needs, the pool was spectacular I could go on and on. The 4th of July event was maybe one of the better events I have ever attended, the food, the bar, the fireworks, the band it was just perfection. I would like to thank Nate (GM) who helped us out with securing a table, taking care of us at the pool, along with Sophia (server). This hotel is 5 stars for a reason, and we look forward to coming back again. Thank you again for a great trip! Gus

The Hilton Garden Inn Carlsbad Beach is a newly renovated coastal hotel located directly across from the beach on Pacific Coast Hwy in Carlsbad, CA. With 161 guest rooms and updated facilities, this property offers an outdoor pool and jacuzzi, spacious rooms with two queen beds, mini-fridge and microwave, as well as an on-site restaurant with a children's menu and room service.
Our stay at the Hilton Garden Inn Carlsbad was absolutely wonderful. The views from our room were incredible — we could see the ocean, beautiful sunsets, and even aircraft carriers out on the water. It was peaceful, quiet, and the kind of place that really makes you feel like you’re on vacation. The location is perfect. Beach access is right across the road, and the town of Carlsbad is charming with great shops, food, and a relaxed vibe. We loved how calm and serene the hotel felt, yet still so close to everything. If you’re looking for a relaxing getaway with stunning ocean views and a great location, this is the place. We’d definitely stay here again!

Room was nice, clean except for sliding door. We had a full ocean view. We asked for doggie bags to be resupplied to the dispenser two days in a row but that never happened. Luckily we brought enough plastic bags. The restaurant and service was good and pleasant. We sat outside in the early evening with the fireplace lit. Overall we enjoyed ourselves. Thanks so much.

I do not know how this hotel does not have five stars across the board. We stayed here for fall break three nights with our family of five and it was the best trip ever. Such a great location, the staff were so amazing so incredible so kind, the parking was so convenient and always had open spots, the rooms were incredibly spacious really really great for a family vacation. We wanted to spend a lot of time in our room because it was so clean and so enjoyable and so cute, This hotel is perfect for young kids so family friendly they had a ton of yard games cute little twinkling lights throughout the hotel fire pits. Our kids were obsessed with the pool and the hot tub. The only unfortunate thing is the hot tub is not very hot, but that was perfect for my young kids. They wanted to play in it multiple times a day. The grounds of the hotel were so beautiful all the trees the flowers. It felt like you were in Hawaii. I loved how close the hotel was to Encinitas Oceanside downtown Carlsbad we could get anywhere so close there’s a gas station close there’s an In-N-Out close Chick-fil-A close lots of good food options. Everything was so convenient and so fun. My only feedback was it’s really difficult times in the Cleaners come. It’s always during our downtime which totally is not their fault so I asked them to come back the first day unfortunately they didn’t but the second day they did and we’re super accommodating and helpful. It’s really nice because the hotel has a little store so if you don’t have something or forgot something you can just go down there and buy stuff in the front desk. People are always available so helpful anytime you ask for them to send stuff to your room they do it so quickly so efficiently. 1000 out of 10 recommend this place we will definitely be back!

This is the nicest HGI we've stayed in. The hotel is across the street from the ocean. The room was clean and secluded. Our dog was welcomed by everyone. We really enjoyed breakfasts and dinners on the patio with sunsets included (no extra charge). The food was excellent, as was the service, including by Johnny, Tina, and Denise.

We arrived last Thursday and we knew we were early. But I figured I would just go check status of rooms. Skylaar was the person working the front desk and let me tell you she literally made my day. She was so nice, accommodating and made our experience so great. She went above and beyond and after traveling, you know you can be tired and overwhelmed, but she put us right at ease. My teenager daughter was even impressed:) The location was perfect. We were right across the street from the beach and we were so close to town. We will absolutely be staying there every time we come to visit. Skylaar was by far the kindest host I’ve encountered in a long time!! Plus the lobby smelled so good;)

I recently stayed here with my company, and we had an incredible experience! The check-in process for our large group was seamless, and the staff went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable. A special shoutout to Front Office Manager Jay Khan for making everything so easy and enjoyable. I’ll definitely be keeping this location in mind for future trips! :)
Carissa C — Google review
This location is right next to the beach and is located perfectly for Oceanside and San Diego. Me and my wife had a great stay. If there was one negative I would say about this location is that you can here every sound in the hallway, and you then must assume that the hallway can here you as well. I say a sign in the lobby i thought was funny because it says ATM Machine, when the M in ATM stands for Machine.
Adam O — Google review
Andrew came through. excellent customer service. recommend 3rd floor rooms especially those that facing west as they have pool view and ocean (partial) which allow you to view the sunset if you don't want to walk across the street. i would stay here again for sure. good price for the location.

Resort hotel
Grand Pacific Palisades Resort in Carlsbad is a luxurious retreat offering stunning ocean views and a range of amenities for families and adults. The resort boasts a convenient pedestrian entrance to LEGOLAND, making it an ideal choice for families. Guests can choose from vacation rental condos with full kitchens, allowing for flexibility in dining options. The family-friendly pool features a splash pad, while an adults-only Olympic-sized pool offers a serene setting with sunset views and cabanas.
We rented a 2 bedroom suite in the second week in September and we really enjoyed it. Only 30 mins from San Diego/San Diego airport. The suite had everything we needed to cook. They even let us borrow Uno cards. If you have kids, the kids would enjoy the splash pad and pool area. It's close to Lego land, a few mins drive to the beach, and to restaurants. The food at Karl Stauss Brewery, which is a restaurant that is across the parking lot, was mid at best. I personally will not eat there again. The only bad thing about the resort is they are working on the walkways that connect buildings and not enough close elevators for ppl with disabilities, but we made due. The pool areas are nice, they are said to be heated but they were pretty chilly to us. Besides that the suite was clean. I really liked that any questions to the front desk could be done via text msgs. Free parking was great. I will return again.
Nae B — Google review
We stayed here for 2 nights to celebrate a birthday and was impressed either their rooms. The living/dining areas and kitchen has a lot of space for entertaining. The kitchen has 4 induction cook top, an oven, dishwasher, full fridge and kitchen utensils for cooking and grilling. The bedrooms are spacious too as well as the bathrooms. All bedrooms have TV screens but unfortunately they're not smartTVs yet so you can't hook up your Netflix. The pool was large and heated. There's jacuzzi and area for small kids to play. There's an arcade too, tables tennis and basketball court. 2 things that are cons: elevator on one side was not working so we have to go around and use the functioning elevator. Called the front 3 times and the phone just rang, no one picked up. On my 4th call, someone answered, thankfully. We just needed a chopping board but have to try to get someone on the phone for 20mins. The cleaning ladies were very nice though. They're polite and always smiling.

Enjoyed a one night stay with the kids. The one bedroom suite was perfect for our family of 4. Our room included a kitchen (w stove, oven, full fridge, microwave and cookware), dining table, pull out couch and patio. Located near the fun activities- family pool, playground, activity room, game room and fitness center. I would love to come back when the Carlsbad Flower Fields are in full bloom since the resort sits right above the fields. The views must be amazing!
Vanessa R — Google review
The resort shares it space with Hilton Cassara hotel. The Grand Pacific has only one working elevator and is under construction. It is a timeshare resort that is sparsely furnished. It has a big kitchen which is great if you are doing all your meals in the room. There is nothing luxury about the resort. They ask you to basically to clean up the unit before you leave. The positive was a comfy bed and is close to Legoland. I would not recommend it..
Kim M — Google review
We had a great stay here. Very easy walking distance to Legoland. Matthew at front desk was friendly and checked us in quickly. Family pool area was fantastic and we spent more time in pool area then usual because it was kid friendly and clean. If we ever go back to this area will stay her again.
Becca S — Google review
Lovely resort. Very clean and well appointed. Bar staff are very attentive and friendly. They greet everyone with a smile. Checkin went very smoothly with Matt. Amir made wonderful Russian mules. Ben provided me with so much information on the area by email. I loved I was able to review while enjoying my lovely balcony. I highly recommend this resort.
Dorene S — Google review
It was an amazing hotel everyone was very nice and very helpful. The only down side of the hotel was the kids above us where running and screaming most of the time but other than that it was very relaxing. The view was very pretty. I really enjoyed my time there, hope to go back soon.

This place is nothing short of amazing! The location is perfect. Our family was able to take the short walk to Legoland in a safe manner. Our 2 bedroom suite was spacious and the beds were very comfortable. The resort itself was always clean and picture perfect. The Carlsbad Inn Beach Resort offers a vibrant stay with its colorful rooms and condos located right by the beach. The boutique hotel provides various accommodation options, from Double Queen Guest Rooms to King Studio Guest Rooms, all equipped with modern amenities like Signature Sleep Therapy beds, Keurig coffeemakers, and flat-screen TVs. The resort's prime location allows guests to easily access the bustling Carlsbad Village while enjoying the serene beachfront atmosphere.
We had such a wonderful stay at this resort in Carlsbad. I took my family including my grandkids who are 1 and 3. The location was fantastic, right by the beach and close to everything we wanted to do. The staff was so welcoming and friendly, always ready to help. Our room was clean, comfortable, and had amazing views. It’s also a perfect spot for families, with so much for kids to enjoy in the area. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience and will definitely be coming back!
Diane W — Google review
Rooms are average. But the view of the ocean makes up for that. Dining room service was excellent, the food was amazing. I had the smoked salmon breakfast pizza. I could only eat 1/3 of it, but I brought it home and reheated it up in my pizza oven and it was just as good as the first time I had it. Pool service wasn't the best. He was busy with a large party in 2 Cabanas, which left the rest of us to fend for ourselves. Ended up just going to the inside bar to place my order, with him. After that he did check in on us. But had to go to the bar to close tab, while he was on break. When checking out, I noticed I was charged for 2 nights parking, even though we told them in the beginning we had no vehicle. Breakfast was included in the rate we paid, but was also on our bill in the end. So......make sure you check over your bill in the end. All and all we still had a great time and good food.
Terry D — Google review
We absolutely love it here. It’s been so family-friendly. We love the playground at the hotel, the free beach toy rentals, the family hot tub and the laundry room that comes in handy when you’re traveling with little kids. We’ll definitely be back.
Ashley G — Google review
Great location by the beach. The outdoor Jacuzzi and fire pits were amazing. Great place for watching the sunset. Nice charming beach town resort but the rooms are definitely dated. The room was humid and the AC works but not great. The shower seems to have been renovated recently. Overall, great stay with nice amenities.

Our company recently hosted a seminar with both clients and employees staying at this location, and I have to say , the hospitality was top-notch! The entire team was incredible, making sure every detail was taken care of, but I want to give a special shoutout to Brenda. From start to finish, Brenda went above and beyond. She not only helped me with all the setup, but she also ensured our customers felt safe, comfortable, and welcomed throughout the seminar. She was attentive to details (even making sure all exits were clear and safe), constantly on the move, and still took the time to connect with me personally , even giving me a warm hug that made the whole experience that much more memorable. Every time I walked through the doors, it felt like I was among friends. That sense of trust and genuine care really stood out. The quality of service here isn’t just good, it’s exceptional. Now I’m looking forward to coming back again , maybe even on a weekday stay since I’m lucky enough to live nearby! Thank you, Brenda, and thank you to the whole team for making our seminar unforgettable. Our Company continues to use your beautiful location for a reason. This experience washed super special to me. As this was my first time presenting at a Seminar. I am very fortunate that my first time was here!

Clean, well run resort. We enjoyed the common areas equipped with picnic tables with umbrellas, fire pits, pool and hot tubs. We stayed in a 1 bedroom unit with a fireplace. Room had dishwasher .... no laundry in room, but a very nice laundry room downstairs .
Elle D — Google review
The ambiance and customer service are superb. It’s closeness to the beach and the view, make it an amazing place to stay at. The only observation I have is that the hotel is a bit dated. The blinds in my room were cracked and broken. The refrigerator was old and rusty but it was functional. Please note that the outdated items are not terrible. I would definitely stay here again. The Inn has plenty of underground parking available.
Omar R — Google review
I’ve been coming to the Carlsbad Inn since I was a kid, and it’s truly a special place that keeps me coming back. The location can’t be beat steps from the beach and right in the heart of Carlsbad Village with shops, restaurants, and everything you could need nearby. The property has such a warm, welcoming atmosphere. It’s beautifully maintained with charming grounds, a cozy courtyard, and plenty of spots to relax. Whether I’m here for a family trip or a quiet getaway, it always feels like a home away from home. The rooms are comfortable and well-appointed, and the staff is consistently friendly and helpful. There’s just something nostalgic and timeless about this place. It’s been a part of my life for years, and I can’t recommend it enough to anyone looking for a memorable stay in Carlsbad.

Cape Rey Carlsbad Beach, a Hilton Resort and Spa is a beachfront hotel offering an array of amenities including an oceanfront pool, fitness center, spa, and on-site restaurant. The resort's spacious rooms come with free WiFi, HDTV, iPod docking station, microwave, and refrigerator. Guests can enjoy beach views from the balcony rooms located just steps away from the Pacific Ocean.
Our recent stay at the Cape Rey Hotel in Carlsbad, CA was absolutely wonderful from start to finish. The property itself is stunning—nestled right across from the ocean with breathtaking views, beautifully maintained grounds, and a relaxing coastal vibe that immediately puts you at ease. 🌊 What truly made our visit exceptional, though, was the outstanding service we received from the Food & Beverage team. Greg, the Food & Beverage Supervisor, went above and beyond to ensure our dining experiences were memorable. His warm hospitality, attention to detail, and genuine care made us feel like valued guests rather than just visitors. Greg’s waitstaff reflected his leadership perfectly—each member of the team was friendly, professional, and attentive without ever being intrusive. Whether it was breakfast overlooking the ocean or a cozy evening meal, every interaction was filled with kindness and warmth. The food was delicious, beautifully presented, and served with a smile every time. It’s rare to find a hotel where the staff’s energy and care truly elevate the entire experience, but Cape Rey has achieved exactly that. We left feeling refreshed, appreciated, and eager to return. Thank you, Greg and the entire Cape Rey team, for making our stay so special! 🫶🏻

Final edit: I have taken away one star after the reply from the director of the property. No apology was offered by management for the bad experience at check-in. We also checked with upper management at Hilton Grand Vacations regarding the upgrade eligibility and they claimed that it was not true. In the Hilton app under benefits it also clearly says; eligible for upgrades. A lot of staff are nice, but then the other half don’t even bother acknowledging the guests. As Mentioned in the original review, the rooms are nice and the beds are very comfortable. But due to the bad staff interactions and the $40/night self parking price, we would never stay here again. Original review: Might adjust this up or down, once we have been here the entire 4 days. Rooms are nice, but not up to par compared to other Hilton Resorts we have stayed in. The front desk lady who checked us in was not very impressive, to the point where she sounded rude. We asked for the upgrade since we are Hilton Gold members, she said oh yeah we have upgrades available. That’ll be $45 extra per night. We were never welcomed as Gold members, neither did she explain the benefits (we had to ask, a second time we came to the front desk). Parking at this place is outrageously expensive, although the hotel is not close to town.

I have stayed at this property three times before. The last time I was seven years ago. The rooms are basically clean, but super basic and not elegant. Everything is beige and looks like it's from an airport lounge. There was trash outside my room from a previous guest when I checked in and it remained there for two days. They also charge outrageous "resort fees" of $35 day in addition to $40 a day for self-parking. Breakfast is $25 for a not terribly good buffet. And the rooms run between $350 and $500 per night.
Heather W — Google review
This place was a gem. The rooms were very clean, and the aesthetic was very nice and cozy. It’s in a great little spot that’s quiet, but also offers quick access to lots of things to do. The restaurant was delicious and the servers were very kind and attentive. The hotel staff were absolutely wonderful and so kind and helpful. Everyone we came across seemed to genuinely care about their guests and enjoy their jobs. When they heard that we had some issues during our travel, they went even more above and beyond to make sure we enjoyed our stay. We cannot say enough good things about the people and this place!

We originally had reservation for a different hotel. We changed our mind last minute and booked a reservation here at Cape Ray and we are so glad we did the front desk. Absolutely amazing. The rooms were nice and clean the restaurant inside Chandler’s was great. The beach was walking distance. We will definitely be coming back

Loved this hotel. We got a complimentary upgrade to a water view room with a balcony. The staff was so nice. We enjoyed the restaurant, especially the desserts. The pool was nice and we enjoyed the hot tub. Only minutes to the beach.
H D — Google review
It is a lovely resort with excellent amenities. The staff went above and beyond to make our stay a positive one. The location is good, but beach access does require getting across a major thoroughfare. Food and beverages were quite nice, including the crab cakes, beetroot salad, and seafood choices. Again, great wait and bar staff. We will return when we need to stay in the area.

The Cassara Carlsbad, Tapestry Collection by Hilton is a refined hotel located on a 12-acre property and provides a complimentary local shuttle service. The hotel offers dining options and features two outdoor pools. Situated in Carlsbad between San Diego and Los Angeles, the family-friendly resort is conveniently positioned near LEGOLAND California and SEA LIFE Aquarium.
Excellent rooms and service! Very nice hotel. Modern and clean. Very soundproof. Super quick access to Legoland. Shout out to the front desk for being super helpful and friendly! I don’t remember her name, but if management is able to see who checked us in at our stay there on 6/15 please give her an award for awesome service. She went above and beyond to make sure our stay was 5 out of 5 perfect!

Amazing stay. Beautiful property with lots of up to date amenities. Was in Carlsbad for work and had to stay at a Hilton property. This beautiful oasis did not disappoint. Zephyr the FD manager was awesome, kind, super professional and courteous. He made me feel like i was neglecting my home town. And im from the inland empire. The hotel is beautiful inside and out. Clean, well kept, beautiful scenery, and very close to the 5, all major areas that are needed to be visited if you need to stay out there. 20 out of 5. Amazing experience. This is my go-to spot from here in out. No questions asked.

Our experience at The Cassara Carlsbad has been disappointing so far. When we arrived, our room wasn’t ready until after 4 PM, and when we were finally given keys, they led us to a room that was already occupied by ANOTHER family who told us they had been settled there for over an hour. The front desk staff didn’t take accountability and brushed it off with, “Our operations director was probably just really happy and excited and pushing buttons,” which they even repeated to the other family involved. The property itself looks nothing like the website. The “flower bed view” is actually a patch of dirt overlooking a Crumbl Cookie with a barely partial view of the coastline. The so-called adult pool isn’t enforced, there were little kids running around and swimming freely in what’s labeled a lap-only pool. Parts of the property appear to be under active construction with no signs or safety indicators, which feels like a liability waiting to happen. Additionally, the shuttle service advertised online is no longer available. When I asked about it, the front desk told me to pull up GPS and drive myself to the other side of the property near Legoland. Basically, nothing matches what’s advertised on the website. The one bright spot? The salad from the downstairs bar was phenomenal: fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. Unfortunately, that’s been the highlight so far.

Great Stay for Families & Adults Alike – Just Watch the Extra Fees ⭐⭐⭐⭐☆ We recently stayed at this hotel and overall had a great experience! It’s very family-friendly but also perfect for adults looking to relax. The property is beautiful, with amazing pool areas, fire pits, and lovely views that make it easy to unwind. Carlsbad itself is such a charming area, and the hotel’s location made everything feel accessible. The on-site restaurant was convenient—food was decent, nothing spectacular, but it got the job done. Staff were friendly during the few moments we interacted with them, which was appreciated. One downside: the $25 daily bar credit they charge whether you use it or not. Since I wasn’t in my room much and didn’t get a chance to spend it, it felt like an unnecessary fee. I’d rather have the option to opt-in. The late-night shop also needs improvement—most items were sold out when I stopped by, so more stock or better variety would go a long way. That said, I’d definitely stay here again. I’d love to spend more time enjoying the hotel itself next time around!

Our first time visiting Carlsbad, and we had such an amazing experience! This hotel was beyond incredible. The room was very spacious and comfortably fit all 8 of us. We arrived early and, although our room wasn’t ready yet, the staff was so kind and allowed us full access to all the hotel amenities. We went to Costco across the street, grabbed some meat, and grilled while we waited. The kids swam and had a blast. There were also bikes available, and the older kids went cruising around the hotel enjoying the beautiful views. There was plenty to keep the kids entertained throughout our entire stay. The staff was respectful, helpful, and attentive from the moment we arrived until check-out. Housekeeping was excellent, and the team at the activity center was amazing as well. This was truly the best hotel experience we’ve ever had. I highly recommend this location to anyone—especially families with children. Thank you to the entire team for your hospitality and for making our stay so enjoyable and memorable!

Our experience was wonderful. Vanessa, at guest service/ front desk, was absolutely helpful, professional, and provided excellent service. On 10/26, Ricles did the house keeping in record time.👏👏 Fresh towels, garbage picked up, beds made, restocked all the items. Amazing service..and my acknowledging of these two (2). We will absolutely be returning. 👍🏼

The room is spacious with nice amenities. However, there was some device on the ceiling with a BRIGHT green LED light that would flash every 10 seconds. That's fine during the day, but makes it really difficult to sleep and managed to make for a very long night. Why is it so bright, flashing so frequently, and positioned to bother folks while trying to sleep?
S C — Google review
Great location. Hotel is not very handicap accessible. No one said where to park. Hardly any handicap parking. Lobby signs are not very helpful. Front desk staff only pointed a direction and said your room is that way. No map. Very confusing. Room took forever to cool down. To get to "private beach", were not told you have to walk across busy street and down the hill to the beach. No one mentioned the $38 'resort ' fee. This place is not that good to have a nightly fee.

Beach Terrace is a family-run hotel in Carlsbad, offering ocean views and a heated pool. It's the only hotel located directly on the beach in North County, making it a laid-back option with big beach-inspired rooms. Guests can enjoy a private beach entrance, complimentary beach amenities, and Sunday morning beach yoga. The hotel also features an outdoor swimming pool, jacuzzi, and an on-site restaurant with room service.
Beautiful views, great rooms, amazing service. The staff is so service oriented. Every single person we encountered was incredible from the lady who checked us in, to house keeping to the beach valet. Amazing. We had a beach front. Rm 14. Amazing. I can’t say enough.
Michelle — Google review
Amazing place! Can't get a better view. Right on the beach literally. Loved the staff, rooms and the included petite breakfast was delicious. Pool was heated and clean. Beach valet was attentive. They have a pillow menu! Only downside is you can't use the amenities until you actually have a room but they were able to check us in a few hours before regular check in. Can't wait to go back!
Veronica B — Google review
Right on the beach with 24 access. Can’t beat that. Beach valet was very accommodating. Front desk was pleasant. One building does have an elevator there other does not so be aware when booking. Worth it if you only staying on the beach like us. Only left in the evening to eat. They do offer a cute little breakfast and when you book through third party you pay the resort fees at the hotel. My family really enjoyed our family vacation. Can’t wait to go back
Vanessa T — Google review
The location is the only real highlight of this hotel, it’s right in front of the beach, which makes it very convenient for ocean lovers. Unfortunately, the rooms themselves are quite run down and far from luxurious. The lighting is very dim, the bathroom door was rotten, and both the air conditioner and coffee machine were rusted (the AC was also very loud). On a positive note, the mattress and pillows were surprisingly comfortable, which made sleeping easier despite the room’s condition. Overall, I’d only recommend staying here if you care more about direct beach access than comfort or quality. Next time, I’d rather stay somewhere nicer and just make the short drive to the beach.
BBTrucking — Google review
Overall we had a great experience. The rooms are fantastic, the location is amazing and the convenience of being right on the beach? With a beach valet? Amazing. Only complaints from me are the breakfast options, which are definitely not allergen friendly and the stairs. I KNOW why they have so many stairs, but it's absolutely not accessible. Our room was on the second floor (no elevator) and it was a trek to get anywhere in the hotel. The steps are narrow and steep, but the beach was worth the trek. Oh, and if you have kids, the rooms do NOT black out. I was up at 630/7 every day with my kiddos bc there was no way to darken the rooms. Overall, it was great and the valet help was fantastic.

Beach Terrace in Carlsbad is a hidden gem! The ocean views are breathtaking, the rooms are clean and cozy, and the location is unbeatable, just steps from the sand and village shops. A special thank you to Michelle and Kent for their warm hospitality and exceptional service, they truly made our stay and my wife’s birthday celebration unforgettable. This is the perfect place for a relaxing getaway. Highly recommended!

I am absolutely thrilled that we decided to venture off the beaten path and skip the usual chain hotel or Airbnb. This enchanting boutique hotel was a true gem, and we were eager to experience something unique and extraordinary, especially since we were celebrating our 24th wedding anniversary. The property is breathtakingly beautiful and impeccably maintained. Michelle was incredibly helpful, friendly, and courteous during the check-in process. The rooms appeared to have been recently renovated, exuding a sense of freshness and modernity. Our oceanfront room boasted a private balcony and a king-size bed, while the suite itself was spacious and the bathroom was equally impressive. The pictures fail to capture the essence of this incredible space, and it's something that must be experienced firsthand. We were delighted by the impeccable cleanliness and attention to detail in our room. The hotel offers a plethora of amenities for guests to enjoy. A heartfelt note from the staff, accompanied by chocolates, wishing us a happy anniversary, was a touching gesture that left a lasting impression. Whenever we desired solitude, we retreated to our private balcony, and on other occasions, we lounged by the pool or gathered around the fire pit. Our week-long stay was nothing short of phenomenal, and The Beach Terrace has earned a permanent spot on our list of favorite properties to revisit, especially since we frequently visit Carlsbad to escape the Arizona heat. Kudos to The Beach Terrace staff, who consistently demonstrated warmth and hospitality throughout our stay.

It's all about location for this property. It's on the beach. Walking to anywhere in the downtown Carlsbad area is easy. The beach is beautiful and easily accessible. The rooms are large. Some with partial views and some with full views. The room is so large but lacks seating and any kind of desk area. There is only one chair in the corner of the room. This is ridiculous especially for a room with 2 queen beds. Where are people supposed to sit?! I was working some of the time and there is absolutely no work space. No desk or table at all. They really need to get some functional furniture in the room. I asked for a table for my room and they told me the hotel is for vacation, not for working. What?! The air conditioner is very loud. It's really annoying while it's running. Bathroom is large with plenty of towels. The wrist band room keys are convenient.

We’re so glad we chose this place for our special celebration! Fran and Henry were incredibly friendly, helpful, and made us feel right at home. The hotel is very kid-friendly and went above and beyond to accommodate our needs. Our family felt truly welcomed from the moment we arrived. The suite was spotless, spacious, and equipped with everything we needed for a comfortable and pleasant stay. We had a wonderful experience here, and we can’t wait to return. See you next time!

We stayed here for an anniversary trip with young kiddos and LOVED IT. Fran and her team were so communicative before our stay, and everyone on staff there was lovely. They left lots of goodies in our room for our anniversary (and came back again to give our kids even more macarons to eat). They had goodie bags for the kids that literally entertained them for hours. We loved eating breakfast in their restaurant every morning. The rooms were spectacular and they also gave us a free upgrade per our Fine Hotels and Resorts stay through our credit card. Top notch in all the ways!

This place is very chill. The staff, music and atmosphere is just relaxing. Everything was clean and prompt. Staff seem to pop out of no where to address guest needs. Do I need a towel? Didn’t think I did, but why not? Location is also close to grocery stores and restaurants. Highway entrance is less than 5 minutes away.

Food was just ok but the service was slow, slow, slow. 90 minutes before our main courses arrived. First round of drinks were slow. We ordered our second round of drinks, which got made and forgotten about at the bar and our waiter didn't check. Had to ask what the delay was and they found them and brought them to the table. Pretty dismal service which is a shame as it's a nice looking dining room. We won't be returning based on this evening's experience.

I was in town for a conference and stayed at this hotel. The meeting facilities were modern and well-maintained, with reliable technical equipment and comfortable seating. The staff were professional and attentive, ensuring that the event ran smoothly. My room was quiet, clean, and comfortable, which was much appreciated after long conference days. The hotel also had a fitness center and a spa, perfect for unwinding. Dining options onsite included a casual café and a fine dining restaurant, both serving high-quality food.

Nestled in the northern region of San Diego County, Omni La Costa Resort & Spa is a Spanish Colonial-style retreat offering an array of amenities spread across 400 acres. The resort boasts two golf courses, 8 pools including an adults-only pool and a kids water play area with water slides and seasonal cafe. Families can take advantage of the year-round kids club while parents indulge in spa treatments or enjoy alone time together.
My girlfriend and I had a little staycation here this week, and it was absolutely incredible. First off, the property is so beautiful — the greenery, the style of the buildings, and the interior of the main lobby area. We ended up spending a whole day at the adult edge pool and had a great time. It was a little crowded on a Saturday, but we still really enjoyed it. While waiting for seats, we had some drinks at the restaurant bar above the pool, and our bartender, Grace, was so great. She was fun and enthusiastic and took good care of us. In fact, every staff member we encountered was awesome. Some hotels, the staff can be uptight and super rigid, but we really loved everyone. The food at the restaurants was really good, which was great because big hotels like this don’t always do a great job in this area. But we enjoyed all of our meals. I especially loved the little coffee shop at the marketplace. All in all, it was a great weekend, and we couldn’t have been happier with our experience. We will definitely be coming back soon!!!

I am not sure why I’ve never put a review up for Omni LA Costa Resort. The hotel has beautiful grounds and we’ve even been upgraded there I remember correctly. My husband and I have stayed there a few times , and we were treated very well. I think at least twice , we had our dinner comped because our room wasn’t ready upon check-in. However, we weren’t rude , we were kind and I think thats why they staff was willing to do that for us. I hope the staff there know their kindness didn’t go unnoticed.

I stayed at Omni La Costa Resort & Spa in Carlsbad with my partner, to celebrate my birthday. Since we’re local, we thought it would be a great midweek getaway and even brought our dog after confirming with the hotel that pets are welcome as long as they are leashed at all times. Unfortunately, our experience was overshadowed by another guest and the way the staff handled the situation. On two separate occasions, I was charged by an off-leash dog (a doodle) while walking my leashed dog. The first time I quickly went back inside, but the second time I was forced to yell at the owner to leash his dog. He initially refused, and when my partner came outside, the man became confrontational, claiming our dog shouldn’t be on property if he couldn’t be approached by other dogs. The resort’s rules clearly state that all dogs must remain on leash. We called security, which took 15 minutes to arrive, while the man sat on the grass, antagonized us, and gave me the finger. When security finally came, the man began making false accusations against me instead of being held accountable for breaking the rules. To make matters worse, the head of security told us he needed to “see our dog” to determine if he was safe to be on the property, even though our dog was leashed the entire time and the other guest’s dog was the problem. We were stunned by the lack of professionalism. The manager on duty, Vanessa, repeatedly passed us off, and the head of security, Michael Sears, could not provide clear answers about how the situation was being addressed. It’s now been over two weeks since our stay, and there has been no real resolution. The only “fix” offered was having the loss prevention manager speak briefly with my partner, which did nothing to address the larger issue. As an LGBTQ couple, it was disheartening to feel like we were dismissed and treated as less important than the other guest, who repeatedly stated he was a “member.” It felt as though his status afforded him leniency, while we, as paying guests, were pushed to the side despite following every rule. For a resort of Omni’s caliber, I expected far better. Clear enforcement of rules, professionalism, and genuine accountability should be the standard. Instead, we were left feeling disrespected, unsafe, and unwelcome. We’ve filed a formal complaint with Omni corporate, but based on the response so far, it’s clear this property has serious issues in how it handles guest safety and bias.

I was at the Omni La Costa for my first time last week for a work conference. They didn’t have a room for me during check in, so the wonderful lady at the desk upgraded me to a suite right on the golf course for my 4-night stay. It was spectacular view, very tranquil ambiance, and a beautiful evening every night. Got a cheeky round of tennis in at the courts last minute, you can rent everything you need. The walk to the Lobby and main area would be the only strenuous part if walking longer distances (2-3 blocks each way) is not your thing. Fear not, the staff have golf carts that will gladly cart you and your party across the resort. All around great stay!

Nice place to relax. Rooms have been updated recently it seems but unfortunately in my room they replaced the tub with only a shower. in the past it had both a large separate tub and shower for a king bed room. Enjoyed the pools and jacuzzi as well as their fitness center. only note is hopefully the pool gets a little more attention, for the 3 days I've been here I've seen the same empty wine glasses and even a broken nail on the floor, understandably it's been low traffic my whole stay often having the area to myself but would be nice to get a clean up once a day
Chris — Google review
The property is in need of many physical repairs. The rooms are super dated. There was not one hook to hang a towel. Peeling wood on the outside of the buildings, cobwebs in the windows, crumbling stones and bricks. Food is mediocre. The gym has ample equipment but aesthetically many of the machines and stretch equipment are aged and peeling. There is a great kids focused splash area, water slide and toddler pool that’s about a foot deep.

ROBBED DURING OUR STAY HERE!!! Story time: We stayed here for one night as a birthday weekend getaway. We stayed on property for dinner and watched the World Series for a few hours at the bar. When we got back to our room, we found that all the cash had been taken out of my girlfriend’s wallet. Notably, we had a reservation for the bar, so at least some employees knew where we would be for some time. Items that never leave that section of the wallet were taken as well, this was not simply misplaced. We called the front desk and security showed up. We gave a report, and they said they would investigate. We were in a lower level plaza room which has a door that leads directly outside. There were two cameras that I found that point directly at the patio door. Between the two cameras and an audit of the hotel keys, I have no doubt that there is some evidence. In the effort of full disclosure, when we got back, we saw the patio door was closed, but unlocked. Whether that was forgetfulness on our end or a strategy by the intruder is unsure. After a night of poor sleep from anxiety and feeling a bit worked up, I got a call the next morning saying that their investigation was “inconclusive.” After some pushback, they said that when it’s dark, the cameras don’t pick up much, if anything. That seems like a flaw to me. With that, there was no resolution given to me except that they would send to their insurance company and have them reach out to me. I’m very disappointed with the way this was handled by management. In fact, I haven’t heard anything from management, just the security guard. One night of comped parking/resort fee would have just about made up for the cash lost, and I would have felt that they cared, at least a little bit. Instead, I’m posting this review. Oh, and we had to change rooms from our initial room as there were a number of dead bugs on the window sill. I don’t even necessarily mind the bugs, it’s an outdoorsy property, but wouldn’t you have cleaned them before turning the room? I don’t usually write many reviews, but for the greater good I needed to write this one. If you have a reservation booked, be careful while on property. If you haven’t finalized plans, choose one of the other great properties in this area. I’ll try a redo for my birthday somewhere else.

Place was amazing . Would have been a 5star until I ordered room service for breakfast. Besides been pricey. The food arrived hour late & deliveries in bag by the door. Definitely not the best room service for a $200 breakfast. Beside breakfast experience was positive. I would NOT recommend room service.

The Sheraton Carlsbad Resort & Spa is a luxurious property located next to LEGOLAND and the Crossings Carlsbad golf course. It offers stunning views of the Pacific Ocean, a top-notch spa called Ocean Pearl Spa, and 7 Mile Kitchen restaurant serving seasonal California coastal cuisines. The resort provides various amenities such as an outdoor pool with a waterslide, access to The Crossings Carlsbad for golfing, bike rentals, fitness center, and on-site dining.
The hotel is wonderful, but what sets it apart, is the amazing customer care. Liz at the front desk went above and beyond to provide our family an excellent and memorable experience. She was warm, friendly, empathetic, and so helpful. She went over and above to care for us. We love this property along with its great relationship with its sister properties. The grounds are very peaceful and beautiful, and the rooms are tidy and spacious. We loved how accommodating they were to make sure we felt comfortable even with the construction going on. We have loved our experiences with the Sheraton hotels and this one continued to display the company’s high value for customer care, cleanliness, and wonderful experiences.

OK, here is the thing… We are still here and this hotel is amazing Including I absolutely love it so this is why I’m having a hard time. The ambience, the pool and all of the things that surround this hotel are amazing. The check-in process was also amazing. However, we come down to the pool and it takes a while for us to get service, but that’s fine… Then we order drinks and food. We get our drinks in a reasonable amount of time but our food pretty much never comes out and then our server gives us half of our order after we remind her that we haven’t gotten it in over an hour and 20 minutes. OK she comped our one pizza and fries however, we ordered two pizzas and fries, but I’m pretty much willing to let that go then after a very long break for the waterslide, the ““ lifeguard is back and looking at his phone the entire time as he’s waving kids down not even checking to see if it’s clear. It’s absolutely ridiculous. Like I can’t even believe it. I’m so used to things being different and I’m really disappointed.

The proximity of Legoland is awesome and the use of the Hilton pool is great, but no one told us there would be major construction when we were here. It's not loud. It's just no facilities are open and it's inconvenient to get to your room. I guess in 2026 summer when they finish all this construction it might be nice but right now it's kind of a dump. Feel totally gypped that we paid full price to stay in a place under construction

We had a wonderful stay at the Sheraton Carlsbad Resort & Spa for our kid’s birthday vacation part 2! While the property is currently under construction (which wasn’t clear during booking), the team went above and beyond to ensure we were comfortable, especially Grace B. She was truly exceptional! Grace personally reached out before our stay, made sure all our needs were met, and took care of every detail with such warmth and care. Because of her, our trip felt special, smooth, and stress-free. Thank you, Grace, for making our family celebration unforgettable!

Another fantastic stay for my kids and me! This visit was made truly special by Guillermo at the front desk. We were celebrating my summer babies' birthdays, and he went absolutely above and beyond to make our stay memorable. The kids had a blast at the pool and loved the tie-dye activity the hotel offered. We can't wait to come back!

We stayed two nights to celebrate our 11th wedding anniversary, but it turned into a nightmare. The room was old and the soundproofing was terrible. Our neighbor turned on the TV in the middle of the night and it was so loud we couldn’t sleep. I sent three messages and called the front desk twice. The staff said they would send security to assist, but no one ever came the entire night. The on-site restaurant, 20Twenty, was just as disappointing. There were only two servers covering the entire dining room, and we waited nearly an hour for our food after ordering. This hotel does not live up to a four-star rating—with such terrible rooms and service, I would say it doesn’t even reach two stars. What was supposed to be a special celebration became a stressful experience. I would not stay here again and do not recommend this hotel to anyone.
Doris H — Google review
This was, hands down, the worst hotel experience I’ve ever had and families should steer clear. The rooms were dirty (bugs and even human waste on the wall), the walls and floors are paper thin, and the noise from other guests was unbearable late into the night. The “heated pool” was freezing, the shuttle was unreliable, and the smoke alarms went off at night due to an “old system,” terrifying children. Staff showed little concern for guest comfort or safety, amenities were unavailable despite being advertised, and guests at the connected property are clearly prioritized while Sheraton guests are left with subpar conditions. On top of that, hidden charges for parking and resort fees were added even when not used. If you’re traveling with kids or anyone who needs a restful stay, this is not the place. Until this property is remodeled and properly managed, it is unsafe, unsanitary, and not family-friendly.
Jennifer L — Google review
I chose this hotel because it had a kid-friendly pool with a slide. But the entire hotel is shut down under construction except the rooms (no warning when I reserved the room on their website). No check in, no room service, no restaurant, no pool at the Sheraton. But they still charged full price for the room. They gave us access to the Westin pool and the Hilton pool across the street (but had to wait in line at their front desks to get a pool key, and it was a long walk with wet tired kids). Had I know there was no pool or any services at the Sheraton I would have stayed at the Hilton across the street that has a kid-friendly water slide in their pool. The Sheraton rooms, hallways, and elevator were outdated. Also they make you park at the Hilton self-park lot, you can't even park at your hotel if you're at the Sheraton. All 3 hotels (Sheraton, Hilton, Westin) share the back entrance to Legoland. That part was great--no line, and you enter the park near the wooden play structure handicap ramp.

I love this hotel. Stayed for 1 night and the room was clean, beds set up real nicely, and the bathroom was very fancy. Went to sleep on one of the very comfy beds and was overall a great night. To finish the experience, we had a yummy free breakfast at their buffet. Easy parking, nice staff, and little store full of snacks! This place easily gets 5 stars.

A Wonderful Stay – Clean, Comfortable, and Welcoming I had an excellent experience at this hotel from the moment I arrived. The entire property is impeccably clean and well-maintained, with a fresh and pleasant scent throughout the common areas and rooms. The hotel itself is stylish, modern, and comfortable, offering a warm and relaxing atmosphere. The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive, always ready to assist with a smile, which made the stay feel even more welcoming. I especially appreciated the pool and jacuzzi – both were clean, well-kept, and perfect for unwinding after a long day. If you’re looking for a hotel that combines cleanliness, comfort, and genuinely kind service, this is the place. I would absolutely stay here again and highly recommend it to others.

My husband, our 7 year old and I stayed here for 1 night on 9/13 after a day at Legoland and let me tell you it was HANDS DOWN one of the BEST hotel experiences we've ever had, and we travel often. We chose this hotel based solely off of reviews since some of the other hotels in Carlsbad had horrendous reviews about bed bugs, mold etc. The first thing we noticed is how close in proximity to Legoland the hotel was no more than 5 minutes just under the freeway. After a long and tiring day at the theme park it was nice to be so close. When I walked to check in the hotel smelled so nice and clean it was very quiet and the woman at the front desk who helped me ( I tried to remember her name but I know it started with an M) was so kind and she was so helpful checking us in, we even got upgraded from a king suite to a double king suite which my son absolutely loved since it meant he had his own king bed for the night. The hotel is a decent size but not so big that you get lost or have trouble walking around finding your room all we could notice in the hotel when walking through was that it was so clean and quiet. When we walked into our room we were all amazed at the sheer size of the room and just how nice everything looked we walked into a living room area that had its own TV a small kitchenette that had a microwave and a mini fridge and of course the pull-out couch we continue to walking a little more in which had a huge bathroom with a matching walk-in shower all of the amenities we needed were included such as body lotion shampoos conditioners and body gels as well as plenty of towels just past the bathroom was the main bedroom which as mentioned had two King beds another TV plenty of storage space for clothes and suitcases and another little sitting area near the window. Although we didn't go down to the pool, we could see the pool from our window and it looked like a great size with plenty of seating around it. From 8:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. they offer cookies and milk with individually wrapped cookies and that was definitely a highlight for my husband and son. Although our room was right off of the elevator we both agreed in the morning that we didn't hear a single person and the beds were so comfortable all three of us had an amazing night sleep. In the morning my son and I went down to breakfast which was included for free and the selections were awesome the breakfast area to sit was also kept very clean and it was a nice comfortable place to enjoy breakfast before checking out. Overall my husband and I both said we would love to come stay at this hotel again soon and find other fun things to do in Carlsbad just so we have a reason to go back to this hotel. Compared to other hotels in the area that we've seen double the price we paid here and nowhere near as spacious, clean or nice this is absolutely a 5 STAR ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ pick for us!

My only gripe was the room was a bit warm for a while had to ask to get room cooled, but best place is very relaxing and quiet. Being this is a dog friendly hotel is a huge Plus! and there's plenty of places to walk around, dog parks around the hotel, gas station next door and the beach is easily accessible within 10 minutes. Free hot breakfast was delicious.

The room we booked was misrepresented online. The website showed hard floors in the premier king suite, but we were given one with dark carpet (I prefer hard floors in hotels for cleanliness; this is why I chose this hotel and room). When we spoke to the front desk to ask about the discrepancy, we were told hard floors are only on the first floor for guests with pets and that the hotel was fully booked. Learning these are pet rooms, we just stayed in our assigned room. Just be aware: the room you get may not match what’s shown online, and I did not see a disclaimer addressing this. The pull out bed was unusable and rickety. The mattress was very thin, the metal frame was crooked and also left many open spaces a child could get harmed on. We ended up not using it & recommend not relying on it for someone to sleep. The train nearby is very noisy, as the hotel is right by it. How often you hear it passing by depends on the day, some are busier than others. Pros: - Hotel is overall very clean and nice, from lobby to rooms. - Premises is quiet. - Free breakfast is a plus. Quality is just okay, but it is nice to have it provided for you. - Staff is friendly. - Parking is easy! - You can walk to beach access in about 15 min stroll pace, and it’s a quick drive to shops/restaurants by the beach. There’s even a little park nearby. - You can borrow beach umbrellas, etc. - Legoland is SO close. - They have their own corner store/gas station. - They put out cookies and milk for an hour, nightly in the lobby. Overall nice experience and convenient location; we just felt tricked about the room. Still unsure if we will return one day, but possibly.

Beautiful hide away & conveniently located just off the freeway. The place has a very charming & homey feel. The staff was friendly and always accommodating. Our entire boys soccer team stayed there with no problems. Definitely worth it!!

I unfortunately had a horrible experience at this hotel. I was traveling alone with my daughter and on our first nights stay we had an aggressive older man bang on our door consistently and attempt to break into our room. He was unresponsive to my questions through the door and it obviously upset me and my daughter. I went straight to the front desk where I was berated and told “he’s gone i’m not going to do anything about it”. It was only until multiple other parents were staring at us during this interaction that she changed her tune. I asked her to look at the cameras and was told they don’t hold any footage it’s just on a live video. I was told we could change rooms but not until the next day because it was booked due to a traveling sports team occupying most of the rooms. I was told the next day a new room would be ready for us, it wasn’t and we were never given any more info on the matter. To top it off our room obviously wasn’t throughly cleaned - see pics. I won’t ever suggest or come here again.

The Westin Carlsbad Resort & Spa is a sophisticated hotel with two restaurants, an outdoor pool, and a spa. It's pet-friendly and offers access to the pools at its sister property, the Sheraton. The quieter pool area features outdoor games, making it ideal for families with older kids. The hotel is praised for its seamless service, customized menus catering to various dietary needs, and exquisite outdoor ceremony location with coastal views.
What a WONDERFUL weekend!! Beautiful, relaxing, CLEAN!! Michelle at the front desk really went above and beyond to facilitate a fantastic stay! Our server, Summer, at the 20 Twenty was amazing! So fun! And hats off to all the valet staff including Jack and Devin for the shuttle rides and timely retrieval of our car every time we needed. I cannot say enough great things about our experience--especially since there were two other big events happening at the hotel and we were noticed, attended and cared for. 10/10 recommend!!

If I could give the hotel a zero I would! Was there for a wedding. Arrived at 4:45 PM. Check in time is after 3 PM. Our hotel rooms were not ready. Had to wait an hour. We were told we would get connecting rooms by three different people and did not. They kept reassuring us because we had young children. It would not be an issue. We have 3 kids so it was super inconvenient. There were other guests that were already awaiting over an hour and a half for their rooms. So this was an issue for many many people. Manager, all she kept stating was, she was sorry and that they are shortstaffed and cleaners will be checking rooms within minutes. Within minutes, turned into an hour. We were late for our wedding rehearsal dinner that was being hosted by them. Guest services, room service was complete crap. Never ever again!

Marriott elite member here. Beds are comfy. Now with the bad. Sound insulation between rooms is terrible and I can hear 3rd floor guests walking around and guests in next door room having normal conversations. Light bleed under doors. Refrigerator in room makes weird noises. Uncomfortable cold ac in lobby and restaurant area. I would not stay at this property again due to these issues

Purchased a Day Pass as a reward for an employee. Beautiful property. I specifically called to inquire about the services (food & drink) was told there would be pool service. There was none. Kept being told the time was changing for the opening of pool restaurant. It never opened, then missed the main restaurant hours. After asking several different front desk employees, we were finally offered a couple menu options from the main restaurant. Definitely disappointing. I could of went to a mediocre facility paid less with the expectation of not having any pool side service.

I worked with Luciana to coordinate our 2-day business meeting offsite last month for our tech company. It was such a pleasure working with her and she made sure all was set and prepared logistically. We also enjoyed wonderful lunches outdoors at the restaurant onsite. Everything was very clean and staff was very accommodating to our needs even if last minute request. Our event ran very smooth from start to finish. I’d highly recommend business meetings here! They have so much meeting room space - it’s incredible :)

This place was amazing. The rooms were a little small, but you're not there for just the rooms, but it did count. The best things, we were 11 minutes from the beach and they had a pretty good breakfast. It is right next to the highway, and a lot of amenities. The parking situation wasn't the best, so we parked where we could.

Marriott & Westin Should Be Ashamed of This Location Normally, Marriott and Westin stand for quality—but this property has zero standards across service, staff, and overall experience. They slap on the “resort & spa” label just to justify inflated fees without delivering anything close to a resort experience. Ratings: Front Desk: 0/10 Staff: 0/10 Valet: 1/10 Room: 1/10 Grounds: 6/10 Restaurant: 2/10 Value: 2/10 Check-in was chaos: one overwhelmed front desk agent, long lines, and no greeting. After waiting nearly an hour, the staff member literally ran off and never returned. The next person gave us a key with no info, no map, and no dog form. We had to find our room ourselves. The room smelled like mildew, the AC was broken, and the front desk refused to move us—claiming no availability. After being ignored repeatedly and watching staff prioritize flight attendants over waiting guests, we finally spoke to someone who admitted there were plenty of rooms. Still, no dog bowls or form ever arrived. Two hours after arrival, we still weren’t settled. Dinner at the hotel restaurant took 90 minutes for two basic dishes, with no updates or apologies. The place was half empty but painfully slow and overpriced. Valet was a disaster: 20+ minute waits every time, phones that dropped calls, and no staff in sight. Guests were left to retrieve their own keys while cars sat untouched. Just self-park—valet is a joke. Bottom line: As a former Platinum Elite member, this was the worst Marriott experience I’ve ever had. This Westin doesn’t care about guests—only your money. Avoid at all costs.
David N — Google review
I experienced a serious security breach at this hotel when I found a third room key inside my room, even though I was only issued two at check-in. Security later admitted a third key had been made, and it wasn’t used until two days later—while my “Do Not Disturb” sign was on the door. Instead of giving me answers, Assistant Manager Anna, Operations Director Colton, and General Manager Leslie all disregarded my concerns and tried to make it seem like I was in the wrong. I have since sent multiple emails with no response. I hardly slept the last two nights worrying who else had access to my room. If you care about your safety, stay elsewhere. Worst hotel experience by far.

We loved this resort. There was an ocean view from our patio which was wonderful. It was a relatively short walk to the beach. The resort has an old school feel with planned activities for kids and adults at no extra charge. Parking was easy. The staff were very helpful. We really liked that there was a separate pool area for adults. The property is older but well maintained. We'll definitely return.

Staff is great. Property well maintained. Would recommend. Has nice activities such as welcome cocktail hour. Great pool and Ocean view. But u are land locked between rail track and Ocean side road. Cannot walk to anything. Enjoy our stay but as a HGV owner we are use to properties that have an onsite Deli offering lite breakfast sandwiches prepared salads and pizza. Not full restaurant but after long day a salad and deli sandwich would be appreciated. You can contract with a local grocery store to offer. All you would need is some refrigeration and a warming oven.

Had an absolutely fantastic stay here with our family of 4! Location couldn't be more ideal with just a short walk across the street to the beach. Loved all the amenities from the pool, hot tubs, outdoor grilling areas and the well equipped kitchen was fantastic to not have to eat out as much. Resort is meticulously clean, staff super friendly, and will definitely be back!

Lots of family activities and separate areas for adults only. Rooms are terrific with well appointed kitchens. The furniture is a bit worn but in good condition and extremely clean. Equipment for beach, pickleball, putt putt golf,… Rooms overlooking ocean and a state beach across the street. Definitely staying again.

Beautiful resort, lots of great amenities and the rooms were very nice. All necessary kitchen items and updates to the bathroom and kitchen made this a 5 star hotel experience, especially being within walking distance to the beach! Nice to hear the ocean at night and the train behind the resort rolling by once in a while added to the seaside town atmosphere. Nice staff, and location was convenient to everything. Highly recommend!!

We own here. Everything has been as expected. It's been 10 yrs since last visit. Some of the changes were not to our liking, such as lobby area and the dry sauna removal. Would like more monitoring of adult pool/jacuzzi as minors always seem to be there. (Main reason we purchased 25 yrs ago) Otherwise our visit has been perfect.

This property was nothing short of amazing! Pam (from their sister property) was able to help us (in a not so ideal situation) find a suite that fit our family's needs. We were very happy with the resort and all that it had to offer. Will definitely stay here again!

Guests can enjoy an outdoor pool, spa tub, fitness center, and arcade/game room.
I absolutely loved it here. I only booked for 1 night stay and wish I stayed longer. The staff was great, location was excellent, the amount of amenities they offered was absolutely perfect for having my 2 grandson 6, and 8 years old. They had a rec room with games to check out , a huge variety of dad's, ping pong, pool tables , heated pool, 2 spas, a daily list of activities, a hotel scavenger hunt , huge patio where u step outside to ocean views. We walked across to the beach. Robes folded in the room. Very spacious. Plenty of pillows, comfortable beds. Shower was good. Breakfast was continental breakfast which was fine. There is a restaurant or bar but I didn't go there . Heard good things from locals though. I will 100% book again and for longer ! Fred at the front desk for check in was friendly and helpful.

Staff was extremely nice including housekerping who got us a couple of better pillows. The original ones were hard and uncomfortable. The mattress was fine. Hotel quiet. Towels were plentinful and good. Hotel even provided large beach towels. The room looked recently renovated ane housekeeping said new pillows would be coming soon to the hotel. The room would have got a higher rating except for the hvac system fan blew too hard and a bit noisy. The continental breakfast was at best ok. Waffles were madwe that were good. There was bacon & sausage no eggs. Cereal was basically sweet ones pl7s granola. Oatmeal not made. It was instant.

This was our second time staying at the resort and we had a great time, the location is perfect. They keep the resort clean and all the staff from front desk to the housemaids, the maintenance guy, to the staff for the continental breakfast all are friendly and welcoming abd helpful, would definitely recommend staying here . We look forward to our next trip. Thank you for the Hospitality. 😊

I stayed here the night of my wedding. The staff were rude and unhelpful during check in and check out. We had someone drop off bags for us and they told us they didn’t have them. We requested a late check out and they told us to call between 7 and 8am… the morning after our wedding. I believe they were only able to accommodate us until noon. The only positive is the location. The rooms were average and we were basically pressured to leave by the cleaning staff knocking on our door every 20 minutes.
Naaz M — Google review
Pros: everyone was so nice and the pool/resort were constantly being cleaned and tidied throughout our stay. The beds and pillows were phenomenal. Location couldn’t possibly be better. Cons: Breakfast was just okay. Only hot items offered daily were sausage and bacon. No potatoes or anything else. We asked if they would have eggs at least and the attendant said the only eggs they offered were cold and boiled in the fridge. Odd choice for breakfast. Bathrooms could use an updating for the price of the stay. Tiles were ill fitting and seemed almost out of place and shower pressure was lacking. Air is loud but it never bothered us, really.
New M — Google review
This hotel should be called motel, needs to be updated. Bathroom are very old looking, old style toilet. When we arrived there was no welcome, no smiles, no information of area. When you arrive at your destination its nice to see a warm welcoming face and smile. Not here!!! The best part was when a scheduled protest with thousands of people gathered right in front of our ocean front room, screaming and yelling!! it was a horrible experience!! I think it was the hotels responsibility to inform guests before, giving them the option to stay elsewhere. A whole expensive day charge lost due to this protest. The web site is very much outdated. We would never return!!!
Cindy M — Google review
Do not stay here! Bugs found in bed. The cooling system is basically an artic blast, loud as hell, it blast you for 10 mins at a time, then shuts off. The chill quickly fades and you start to overheat. Another 30 to 40 mins later it blast you again. It is so loud and the blast is unbearable. It's impossible to get a good night's sleep. On top of that the beds and pillows are uncomfortable. The walls are paper thin. The entire place is super moist. It's outdated, and in need of renovation. The only plus about this place is the location (which is right next to several other hotels) you will be much better off spending your money at one of the other closely located hotels. Side note when you pay the extra for an Oceanview room, you will be put on the first floor, as all other floors are for timeshare guest.
Moriah C — Google review
Location wise it’s perfect, but the room smelled like bleach and must and in the morning we found a dying roach in the room. They also messed up with our check in and check out process, despite each front desk person assuring that everything was ok? They ended up calling us to say we had to settle a charge and sign something when we had left the next day. Kind of a weird experience for being our hotel after our wedding

Hotel
Ocean Palms Beach Resort Carlsbad Beach is a relaxed 3-star hotel located just a short walk from Magee Public Park and a quick drive from Buccaneer Beach Park. The resort offers an outdoor swimming pool, hot tub, putting green, gym, and free breakfast. Guests can enjoy spacious suites with fully equipped kitchens and dining areas. The property also features barbecue facilities, fire pits, picnic areas, and complimentary parking.
My wife and I stayed two nights at the Carlsbad Ocean Palms Beach Resort in February and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Some highlights, pros and cons include: - The location is fantastic, situated right across the street from the entrance to the public beach; you can see the ocean from the property, depending on where you're standing. It is also a close walk to many fantastic shops and restaurants right in the heart of Carlsbad Village. You can easily walk everywhere close by, without the need to ever get in your car. - We stayed in a studio room; while on the smaller side, the room features a kitchenette with full size fridge, stove, sink, and plenty of cabinet space, which are great additions to have, particularly if you want to do any cooking. The spacious walk-in shower was nice as well. The room has a quaint, cozy feel with a beach decor. - The only real complaint on the room was that the bed was a bit bouncy and not the most comfortable, but overall it was not too bad and didn't detract from the overall experience. There's also no closet, which is a little weird, but they do have a pull out hanging rack mounted to the wall where you can hang your clothes. - The hotel structure is around the perimeter, with a middle courtyard-type area featuring multiple fire pits that run after sunset, which is a very nice area to relax and enjoy the view of the stars above. - Parking is free around the perimeter, but is first-come-first-served so it may be hard to find a close spot depending on when you arrive. - They do offer a free "breakfast", but it's mainly just fruit, juice and packaged snacks (though there is a Starbucks self-serve coffee machine in the lobby, which is nice). However, given the amount of fantastic breakfast spots nearby the lack of a hearty breakfast option wasn't an issue. - The rate was also quite reasonable for a beach-adjacent hotel in southern CA, over a weekend and booked only a few days in advance. Overall, we had a great time and would gladly stay here again.

There are so many great things about this place! The location is perfect. The grounds are spectacular. Beau, at the front desk, is so nice, helpful and knowledgeable. The rooms are nice, clean, well appointment and CUTE! If you're looking for that beach resort that gives you the full beach experience, Ocean Palms is the place. The pool area is gorgeous. The fire pits are so lovely at night. What you see on the website is exactly what you get. It is my new favorite vacation destination.
Donna C — Google review
Literal 100 yard walk to the beach. Views are great, tiki torches and carvings everywhere, awesome atmosphere. We had kids with us and the continental breakfast was juices, yogurt, fruit, protein bars, and pastries like bear claws, powdered donuts and mini muffins. That was my only observation (not even a complaint) is that my kids were hungry pretty soon after because there wasn’t much variety or protein offerings. Seriously a minor observation that was far outweighed by the staff, views and atmosphere. Beds were comfortable, rooms were clean, outdoor shower to wash off sand, free rentals for things like chairs, sand toys and boogie boards. Small little shop for things like sunscreen and snacks/drinks. I’d definitely stay again with or without kids. We never moved the car once we parked because we could walk to numerous restaurants, the beach, ice cream, coffee, etc.

Be careful with their cancellation policy! I called 40 min past their deadline for a full refund because of a family emergency. It took 3-4 tries over the next 3 days to get anyone to call me back. In the end, all I received was a credit to a future stay (and I rarely if ever visit Carlsbad). I’m extremely disappointed that they held their line on this and left zero room for a negotiated solution. It speaks volumes about their customer service.

Room was very clean, quiet, and the sound of crashing waves peaceful, parking as always in SoCal a challenge but we found street parking mid week, price for one night a bit steep, but worth it, centrally located to my favorite restaurants and a drive along the 101 with coastal views of the ocean!

The SpringHill Suites by Marriott San Diego Carlsbad is a great place to stay in Carlsbad. It offers air-conditioned rooms and a terrace and is very close to the beach.
We really enjoyed our stay here. This hotel is in a great location within easy walking distance to the beach and numerous restaurants and shopping. The staff were all very kind and helpful and the hotel very clean. Breakfast was pretty decent as well. We were very grateful that they were able to extend us a late check out. I was most impressed with how quiet it is despite the location. We are very light sleepers and didn’t hear any disturbances in the night. We loved the rooftop bar and being able to enjoy our breakfast there in the morning.

This is our 3rd time staying at this property. It has become one of our favorite spots. Very friendly. Excellent rooms. Perfect location, close to the beach and Carlsbad Village. We rarely need our car when were here. Love walking everywhere and enjoying the relaxed atmosphere. The view from the roof top lounge is our favorite.

Great location!! I had no idea when I booked it that it was that close to the beach. Parking was super easy and plentiful. Staff was great to communicate with before arriving via the Marriott app. As well being super nice when I checked in. So many places to walk to eat and a Starbucks a couple blocks away. Rooms were very nice as well, mine came with a patio with the ocean as an amazing view! Would definitely recommend!!

Great Stay! Very clean, super convenient “walk to the beach” & “walk to restaurants” location makes this hotel a winner. Impressive views from the rooftop lounge made breakfast memorable & Brennan was extremely helpful. He made a lasting impression by anticipating our needs before we ever asked for help. Rare these days to find that level of service. With Marriott status we enjoyed a 4pm late checkout and even though I was a few minutes late returning, due to traffic, the front of house staff was helpful and polite. The semi impolite cleaning staff was the only rough spot on what otherwise was a very polished operation. We will definitely stay here again. Well done!

Wanted to share our review of the hotel. We stayed here last weekend for the GA Showcase in Oceanside. Location is great and the hotel is nice. More notable was the great staff. My daughter left a charm necklace in our room and we didn't realize it until after we left. I immediately called when we got home and the staff were able to locate and send the necklace back to us. We just wanted to say thank you!

Nice beachside hotel. Spotlessly clean, comfortable rooms, lovely beds, modern bathrooms. Very quiet rooms, very little hallway noise. Directly across the street from the beach. Pleasant breakfast room in which was offered the standard breakfast fare. The only thing marring our stay at this hotel was was the attitude copped by the nose-pierced clerk at the front desk when I asked her to explain to me why our room rate was a whopping 50% higher than for the same room for the next weekend. I won't go into it but I expect a little more polish from the front desk, especially from a hotel charging over $550 per night for a standard room. Also, the front desk made no effort Saturday afternoon to assist our group of 8 or nine guests waiting outside the lobby for a private shuttle pickup. Yes, the hotel was not involved in booking the shuttle I understand, but to be curtly reminded of that was not helpful. Be aware Marriott/Bonvoy uses "dynamic pricing". I suggest booking only refundable rooms, then monitoring room rates closer to your stay date. You just might be able to save a chunk of cash. Our two night stay at over $1,100 could have been had the next weekend for closer the $800.
David D — Google review
Decent hotel in a prime location. Rates fluctuate; our stay was very high-priced. Service did not measure up to what you would expect at a hotel in this price range. Front desk staff was most unhelpful when we inquired about a shuttle to a nearby wedding venue. Although the shuttle was affiliated with the wedding venue and not the hotel, which we understood, we were taken aback by the rude response from staff when we asked about it. In addition, there was someone at the hotel who appeared to be floridly mentally ill, muttering to herself and cursing nonstop in the breakfast room both mornings we were there. We thought at first she was an unhoused person who had wandered in, but she may have been a guest. Her presence was unsettling.

Water & Amusement Parks
LEGOLAND California Resort is a vibrant destination in Carlsbad, California, just north of San Diego. The resort features a lively hotel with LEGO-themed quarters and amenities like dining, an outdoor pool, and complimentary breakfast. The hands-on theme park offers over 60 themed rides and interactive attractions for kids aged two to twelve. Additionally, the SEA LIFE Aquarium and LEGOLAND Water Park provide entertainment for the entire family.
The rides were really fun! the food was delicious we ate at the pizza and pasta place and took advantage of the buffet the staff at Legoland are incredible. Kind thoughtful. At one point my son wanted to be in front of a roller coaster but the placement didn't provide for it. The next time he came to the lady we hadn't even seen before I said I heard you wanted to be in the front let's make that happen! Everyone is very chatty and kind and helpful we had a great day!

We had such a great time at LEGOLAND! There are so many fun things to see and do — way more than I expected. The creativity behind all the LEGO designs and attractions is amazing, and the staff was super friendly and helpful. The aquarium is definitely worth visiting — it was one of my favorite parts of the day! There’s a great variety of animals and it’s really well done. However, the park really needs better maintenance. A lot of things were dusty, faded, or missing pieces, some water features weren’t working, and a few attractions were closed. It’s still a fun experience, but I’d love to come back when everything’s fully restored and running at 100%!

We had such a great time. I feel its better than the zoo and maybe even Sea World. We'll at least for a 4 year old. The employees are really kind young kids, which gives me hope for the future. A young man named Juan even rode with my daughter, because we waited in line and it was just me and a 6 month old, so I wasn't able to go. He really made my daughter's day. That was so kind. The pizza, pasta and salad buffet was great. Had nice outdoor seating too. The Trick-or-Treating even was awesome. They gave out huge bags of candy that I saw all parents eating 😀. There are a ton of really neat parks with big slides and all sorts of fun stuff for them to climb on. A great way for parents to get a little rest in. We will definitely be back!!

First time Vacation at Legoland! We had our 8, 7 and 3 year old and my in laws with their 3 year old. I would say that this theme park is definitely for under 10 unless your kids love more action/activities then it might not be for them. Let me say this...Lego masterpieces everywhere!!!!! Amazing how all was put together to show a little of everything. We started our Sunday with Sealife and then headed to the Brick or Treat event. Kids were dressed up and they were given small bags for candies. Now the candy stations (less than 10 stations) were in certain areas and at times a little confusing with everything that was going on. I feel like it would be nice and easier if candies were to be handed out in front of the rides but thats just me. There was no waiting times during our Sunday night. They were able to get into a few rides as well as enjoying the lego art. Monday visit was a bit more busy and humid. We waited almost 20-30 minutes for the roller coaster and the duplo train ride. Other rides were less than 10 minutes. Most rides that include parents with young children have a weight limit of 330 pounds for the seat. Luckily we were able to take turns and enjoy some rides with our boys. Like i had said previously the rides are definitely for younger kids and they only last maybe less than 2 minutes and have little to no motion. My two older boys enjoyed the roller coaster and the ride that goes up and down(its in my pictures). We did a few family group rides like the big boat ride that takes you along the lake, the duplo train, and the submarine ride. We also bought the 2 day cup and the popcorn bucket but unlike other theme parks, the freestyle machines were not everywhere so it was pointless and the popcorn bucket was only refillable at that kiosk from what we saw because we asked around a few places and those places had no popcorn. The one thing that I don't know how to take it as is at this lego car exhibit my brother in law took my boys to see the car and apparently as soon as they went in the male employee there told him- that there was nothing exciting to see and dont waste your time there and instead go on the rides- so whatever his intentions were we'll never know but my son loves hot wheels so he was interested in looking at that car. So now that I pointed out my experiences I want to say that we had fun, and a few meh moments and for us it was a one time thing. Staff was friendly in the park and hotel.

Title: Not Worth the Price — Disappointing Stay for $700 a Night I booked a fully themed “Friends” room at Legoland Hotel California to celebrate my grandchild’s birthday one November 1, 2025 for one Night. Honestly, for the $700 I paid for one night, it was not worth it. I hope this review helps anyone deciding whether to book here. The room was very small and felt extremely crowded. We were given one king bed, plus a bunk bed and a pull-out bed, which sounds great but left almost no space to move around. The furniture looked old-fashioned and worn out — some pieces were chipped, the wallpaper was scratched, and parts were even peeling off. Around 4 a.m., I tried turning on the TV, but it wasn’t working. The screen said to call the cable operator, so I contacted the front desk. They told me I had to wait until 7 a.m. for someone to come in and call the company. The room was generally clean, but it was clear that cleaning was only done on the surface — not in detail. I have asthma, and I could feel dust irritation right away. Also, please note: the photos you see online when booking are not what the rooms actually look like. The hotel’s biggest advantage is that it’s right next to the park, which is convenient, but honestly, you’re better off staying at one of the nearby hotels that offer more space and comfort — especially if you’re traveling with kids.
Aide S — Google review
Took my son here for his birthday! He had a blast! The detail work is beautiful to look at! It can be on the expensive side and I wish they had more options such as all day dining for food. Would recommend to take your child here at least once in a lifetime!

LEGOLAND California is such a fun and amazing place for families! The park is clean, well organized, and full of creative attractions. The kids loved the rides, the LEGO builds, and the water park. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the food was good too. A perfect place to spend the whole day and make great memories!

Fantastic amusement park for any Lego lover! My kids thoroughly enjoyed themselves all day. Lines weren’t too long either. Definitely worth the money for a fun day and fun memories with the kiddos.

I was very impressed by the front desk. He was very professional. Housing keeping was on top of things. We only stood two nights, and they came and cleaned it. They had a decent complimentary breakfast . They served sausage, eggs, potatoes, self serve waffles, fruits, cereal, and coffee. We were able to enjoy the jacuzzi and pool. They have a nice size gym. We will definitely stay there again. Thanks for your great service.

I never slept better. Stayed in a standard king with my husband and twins. We had blow up toddler beds still enough room. Staff were all friendly all of them always saying hi with a smile. They must love their jobs. The room had no odor at all. They were accommodating and pur us on the ground with one of my twins being autistic. They shampoo the carpets so they might feel moist to the feet. Breakfast was amazing. Waffles, sausage, eggs, tons of bread carbs options. Coffee was amazing. I even had 2 cups. Breakfast ends at 9am. I love how there is a fireplace to sit at when its dark. Will definitely recommend this place to anyone with kids.

All the staffs were super kind and understanding. I had a room that was close to the freeway, and the noise from the vehicle driving by was really loud, kept my family up all night. A staff, beautiful young lady, took me from room to room until I found a room comfortable enough for my family. To Me, that was exceptional of them, and I loved that they cared a lot about the hotel and the residence in it. Breakfast was delicious; fresh and hot every morning. Enough meal for everyone . I love the location. We walked to the beach. I will definitely be staying here over and over again ❤️

Room smelled like poop. When the couch bed was pulled out, there was a huge brown stain on the mattress. Brought this to the front desk. After over an hour, the maintenance guy switched out the mattress. Miraculously, the smell was gone too. There was no compensation given. The key cards had to be replaced at least 3 times a day. Staff were friendly. Location is perfect.

We stayed here for our daughters soccer tournament. We had a small issue with our first room, front desk was very kind and switched our room quickly with no grief. The room was cool, clean, smelled great and we slept like a dream! Great customer service and very friendly staff!

Rooms are small and dark with entrance and front window on walkway with guests coming and going past your window. Some rooms have the stairwells right in front, with traffic coming up or down. King Bed rooms are super small and like a dungeon. We originally booked a King Bed room, but both were under the stairway, so we moved. Finally went with 2 Queen room which was better. Other LaQuinta's we've stayed at have the entrance in a middle corridor with a window at the outside giving you a view. So much better! Would not stay here again.

The service at this hotel was outstanding. Check-in was smooth and efficient, with the front desk staff welcoming us warmly and making sure all our needs were met. Mitzi Martinez, the front desk manager, went above and beyond to accommodate us and made the process seamless. At check-out, the staff was just as attentive and helpful, ensuring everything was handled quickly and professionally. Excellent service from start to finish!

This was our first time staying here. We got a call from the front desk the day we were scheduled to come in that there was a water leak in our room and they would need to move us. They said they were upgrading us for free. Great. We got in late and they told us the room was given away. I was given a blanket and pillow to have one guest sleep on the floor of the one room they had open. They only had a single queen and not a double queen. We got to the room and the tv was on. I thought someone was in the room but I was lucky it was empty. Then come to find out the room was the one they upgraded us to. Not sure what the front desk person was thinking. My other complaint is the property has an infestation of ants. They were in our shower and we parked our rental car next to their bushes. In the morning we have over 100 ants around and in our car. It wast the best experience. Aside from that the breakfast area to get food is small. Staff are friendly. The room is a little outdated. Looked better in the online pictures. It’s next to the highway and loud at times.

The Hampton Inn Carlsbad-North San Diego County offers modern accommodations with complimentary parking and a hot breakfast. Guests can enjoy the outdoor pool and well-equipped gym during their stay. Visitors have praised the friendly staff, particularly mentioning Manager Chris for his professionalism and local knowledge. Families appreciate the hotel's proximity to Legoland, as well as the clean and comfortable rooms.
This hotel and its staff are amazing. It's very clean, the customer service is excellent, and the breakfast is the best I've experienced in the last two years. I travel a lot for business and pleasure. I spent a week at this hotel, and the personalized service, variety, and quality of the breakfast every single day were exceptional. I forgot several pieces of clothing in the closet, and Manager Christopher Long assisted me immediately. I received everything back at home with no charge. This was the cherry on top of my already great experience. I will definitely stay there again. The customer service is classy and personalized.

Stayed at this location for 2 nights, courtesy breakfast was good, with enough food to be shared. Initial front desk staff was not as friendly probably due to her night shift schedule. Same goes for the lady that stocks the breakfast items. Found that the hot or cold water supply in the lobby does not get refilled after 8pm. The mattress is really soft, but that is a personal preference. All in all, still a decent location to stay

The customer teams make staying at this property great. We dealt with 3 different front desk team members over a 24 hour period when we stayed in early October and they were all super helpful and friendly. It is such a pleasure to be treated as a valued guest when staying at hotels and this was well and truly the way this team works. The room was great value for our expectations and the location was perfect for our needs. We were on a 6am flight the next morning and being able to literally walk across the street into the terminal at 5:30am for our flight was fantastic. Thanks for an all round great experience for our short stay

This hotel offers good value for money if you're just looking for the basics. My room was simple but had everything I needed — a bed, small desk, wardrobe, and working air conditioning. The bathroom had hot water and was clean, although quite small. Breakfast was light, mainly toast, coffee, and cereal. Staff were polite and check-in was fast. The atmosphere is quiet, which I appreciated. Not a hotel to remember, but it does the job.

Stayed here for twitchcon2025, definitely thr right call! All team members were professional, friendly and happy to help. The included breakfast was fantastic every day, with plenty of different options & a different menu each day. Definitely the best hotel breakfast I have had in very long time! So we Stayed in room 226, this is a mobility accessible room. That was furnished with all the necessities, comfortable beds, accessibility shower, and good size TV, microwave and refrigerator. We had an issue with the refrigerator, however Chris was very nice & did his best to fix it quickly. The shower worked well and had plenty of hot water. It's worth noting that the wifi here was actually good & the room did have a port for direct wired connection, something I had to use for my XBOX-SERIES-X. Speeds vary depending on connection method and internet plan selection between 25mbps for both upload and download to over 200mbps for both upload and download. Definitely stay here if you need good internet. Now the best part, Breakfast! Firstly, it's from 6am to 10am, I love the extended hours perfect for that day after the convention. Secondly, the variety of both hot and cold food was impressive, something for everyone even some picky like myself. Each day had a different menu including different waffle flavors (never seen that before). *Room for improvement section: These are all minor things but would be nice upgrades and functional. For mobility rooms have an adjustable holder for the shower head, as short people can't reach it. Secondly, install a sound bar under or above the TV, at least in a joining rooms. This would change & most likely eliminate the issue of folks saying a TV is too loud. In closing everything was great and what was an issue was fixed as best as possible. Hopefully I can stay here next year and update this review. Till then stay frosty.

I recently spent ten days at this location for a work trip. I was impressed by the customer service, particularly from Chris at the front desk, who facilitated an early check-in and reopened the breakfast area for me. However, the hotel itself showed signs of wear, including a noticeable mildew scent in the room, which was off putting. Additionally, I encountered a handful of sugar ants in the bathroom and, on one occasion, in the bed. While the hotel was fully booked, I managed the situation. In the future, I will likely choose the Homewood Suites right next door.

This hotel is phenomenal. Complimentary breakfast is one of the best hotel breakfasts I’ve ever had. Excellent variety for all food tastes. Rooms are super clean, nice hot water pressure for showers, safe area, strong internet, lots of parking, etc. I love the option to pick room & checkin online. The text option if need something from front desk is wonderful. Love it! After a long day traveling, it’s so nice to go straight to room versus checking at front desk. When in town, I always stay here even if costs a bit more as know it is well worth it! 👍

Having stayed at dozens Hampton Inn properties through the years I've come to expect excellence from the Hampton Inn. The Hampton Inn Carlsbad/N San Diego county exceeded my high expectations. We were having a rough trip, but from the moment Jasmyne greeted us at check-in everything felt much better. The rest of the staff continued providing outstanding service. The kind of service that makes you wish you lived there :-) As usual the rooms was clean and comfortable, breakfast was good, and the property was well maintained. Thank you Jasmyne and staff!

Super living room and full kitchen. Nice to be able to do some cooking or just reheat a leftover. Double sinks are very convenient plus tub and shower for your choice. Close to Legoland for families. Loads of pools and hot tubs. Hotel has shuttle to get from place to place. Very nice and helpful staff.

Initial impressions were that the resort was super nice and the front desk staff were super courteous and inviting. Our room was well maintained but a little on the small and old side. You could hear everything in the next room over as if you were sitting in it, but not a huge deal. Overall I would give a 4/5 star review, BUT the guest services staff appear to have been trained by Waffle House drop outs. There was confusion about if our room was paid for by the agency we booked through or if we had to pay directly, but the guest services team brought this up to us the morning we were departing (when we were already on the road) demanding that we stop by the front desk to pay for our room. They simultaneously started panicking and tried to charge our credit card repeatedly which caused the credit card company to lock my account for fraud. I advised them that we would reach out to the agency we booked with and if it really wasn’t paid for, we would call back to settle with them over the phone. They said that they would not be able to take payment over the phone and threatened to have us sent to collections if we didn’t stop by the front desk… meanwhile we’re already triple digit miles away on the road. They were rude and panicked in trying to get us to pay for a room that up to that point, everyone thought was paid for. I advised them that I was done talking to them and asked for their general manager’s contact info so I could speak with a grown up to figure things out, and then magically they remembered how to provide somewhat mediocre service again. The resort was quite nice and the pool was amazing, but their complete lack of ability to handle a simple issue without loosing their minds took this down to a 1 star review. We stay at Hilton properties all the time, including the Cassara Carlsbad by Hilton which is a much nicer option in the area. MarBrisa does not deserve to be part of the Hilton brand.
Rudy B — Google review
While it is a bit removed from most of what you might be in the area to visit, the quality of the amenities is solid and the environment was far quieter and relaxing than expected, given the size and density of the development. Great if you want to spend time relaxing at the resort. Nice pool area.
Scott E — Google review
We stayed in a first floor studio. Quite nice. The only real complaint I have is that parking anywhere near your room can be a challenge. Did very much appreciate the onsite charge point although it was somewhat slow.
Justin H — Google review
This place is amazing. I love staying here as its so close to Legoland. The rooms are spacious and the resort provides great amenities. Every time I come, there's no other resort I rather be at.
Tonny N — Google review
We stayed at the MarBrisa property in Carlsbad, which has three connected resorts (Hilton, Sheraton, and Westin). Overall, it’s a family-friendly place with lots of perks, though each side has its own feel. MarBrisa Hilton The Hilton side has spacious rooms, but the layout is awkward. Our suite had a queen bed and loveseat, yet very limited storage—only small drawers in the nightstands and TV stand, plus a half-blocked closet. The bathroom design wasn’t ideal either, with towel racks placed inside the shower and very little counter space. Still, the staff were friendly, there are two nice pools and three jacuzzis (one reserved for owners), and shuttles run 9 a.m.–9 p.m. across the large campus. Families will love the daily activities and the private Legoland entrance. It’s also dog-friendly, with good walking areas. Downsides: very large spiders around campus, and the city itself isn’t walkable—you’ll need a car or rideshare to explore beyond the property. MarBrisa Sheraton The Sheraton side felt a bit quieter, with a smaller pool area located right across from 7 Mile Kitchen & Grab and Go. Staff were just as friendly, and the same shuttles and family activities are available. Great dog walking paths, but again—lots of spiders outdoors and limited walkability outside the resort. MarBrisa Westin The Westin offered a more updated feel with a good 24-hour gym (which we had entirely to ourselves every time, even late at night). There’s one pool and one jacuzzi here, plus elevators with keypad room access (though they didn’t actually function during our stay—you could just press the floor button and go). Like the Hilton and Sheraton, it’s family-oriented, has daily activities, and is dog-friendly with access to Legoland. 7 Mile Kitchen & Grab and Go Important note: Google Maps incorrectly lists 7 Mile Kitchen as permanently closed. It is very much open, with excellent service and food. We visited the Grab and Go every morning on our dog walks (6:30–6:50 a.m.) for coffee. Staff were quick and kind, though prices were a bit high (about $7.76 for a medium). We tried caramel macchiato, white chocolate mocha, dirty chai, iced coffee, and regular coffee—all consistently well made. On our last day, we had breakfast at 7 Mile Kitchen. The Breakfast Sandwich with potatoes was outstanding—huge, shareable, with fluffy eggs, thick turkey, fresh avocado and tomato, and perfectly melted cheese. Potatoes were just average, but the sandwich and service made up for it. Staff went above and beyond, even doting on my service dog, and got us in and out quickly before our flight. Overall MarBrisa is a great family-friendly resort with multiple pools, daily activities, dog-friendly walking areas, and unbeatable convenience for Legoland visitors. Each side (Hilton, Sheraton, Westin) has its own strengths—Hilton for larger suites, Sheraton for quieter poolside stays, and Westin for the gym. The property is best enjoyed with a car or rideshare, since Carlsbad itself isn’t walkable beyond the resort. And don’t miss 7 Mile Kitchen—it’s open, it’s good, and it ended up being one of our favorite meals of the trip.

Thank You! I just wanted to give a big and heartfelt thank you to all the amazing employees at the hotel who made our stay so special. A special shoutout to Aubrey thank you so much for helping us with our stay for our daughter’s 10th birthday. The room you gave us was absolutely amazing and made the celebration even more memorable. Also, thank you to Megan for putting together such a cute gift bag for our daughter she absolutely loved it! It was such a sweet touch. We honestly loved our stay. The entire staff was so kind and welcoming. The hotel itself was spotless and so well kept. Even Mariana at the bar was amazing! Thank you all again we’ll definitely be coming back. You guys are truly wonderful!

This a nice and quiet hotel. Very clean and spacious. I liked the ability to open the window enough to enjoy the fresh air. There is a small fridge (👍) but no microwave (👎) in the room. However, there is a microwave downstairs in the market if you'd like to warm up any leftovers. Service at the front desk is top-notch. Everyone is very helpful and cheerful. I also liked the filtered water bottle filling station, located just outside the fitness center. Unlike most other Marriott bands, the Courtyard brand does not have a complimentary breakfast, which is a real turn-off for me. Even still, I prefer the Marriott brand over any other, and I enjoyed my stay here.

The fact that the night before the people next us were playing their music 2 o’clock in the morning loud ain’t nobody did anything about it even though after I complained twice, but after my wedding night, me and my wife are trying to listen to music literally volumes at 10 and you guys come over tell me that we’re being too loud and there’s only two people in the room made no sense I feel like we were singled out and the fact is that when I walked out my room and the employee at the front desk had his ear to my door as well made me feel like we were being singled out again not only is it my wedding night, but the fact is that you had your ear to my door and when I open the door, the only thing you could say was sorry. Really confirm that we are being singled out worst day ever not worth the $800 that we spent for four days and I wish I knew the front deck clerk name that had his ear to my door so I can leave you the review worst service ever.

This hotel is a wonderful blend of historic charm and modern comfort. The building itself is beautifully preserved, with elegant architecture and detailed interiors. My room was decorated with classic furnishings but included modern amenities like air conditioning and fast Wi-Fi. The bathroom was large and spotless. Breakfast was served in a lovely dining room with a wide variety of fresh and tasty choices.

Ummm… if you’re staying here because you’re planning to catch a flight at the Palomar airport the next day. Please be advised there is no shuttle to the airport and it’s a 20 minute walk. But the hotel attendant said it was a 5 minute walk. Normally, I don’t mind a good walk but with golf clubs and two bags and back packs this was quite daunting. Now I’m sweating as I embark on a full day of traveling. Please be aware!

However, Andrew and the rest of the staff at this BW deserve the highest praise. Everyone was amazing and super kind. They offered to loan us boogie boards, umbrellas, and chairs for the beach. This hotel is just in a prime location in general. It'll take you longer to wait for the cross walk to cross the street than it will to walk to the beach. Nearly everything worth visiting is a short walk away. There is a killer fish and chips spot right across the street and several delicious spots to eat nearby. (The Trap Shack and The Strawberry Shack come immediately to mind. It's strange that they're both shacks though... Huh) A train runs daily with stops to local areas and is really cheap. It's about 45 minutes and only 10 bucks a person to make it to San Diego. And the station is within walking distance to the hotel, about 10 min. LEGO land is only a 10 min drive away and the flower fields by GIA World Campus are in bloom in spring/summer typically. If you're looking for a place to stay this is it. There's other hotels nearby but this one takes the cake for it's location and friendly staff alone.

The location is spot on!! Can’t beat this. Breakfast is included and there are lots of options to meet the needs. The pool is clean and towels are readily available. It’s nice they have changed the jacuzzi to a fire pit. So relaxing and cozy. The staff is beyond accommodating. There are chairs, boogie boards and towels available for the beach. Overall, the rooms are a bit outdated, but that is minor compared to the convenience and walk ability of the location. Downtown Carlsbad is a hop, skip and a jump away! The overlook porch is worth the visit to people watch and enjoy.

This is a great hotel, especially if you're traveling for business. The hotel was clean, the rooms were comfortable and the staff was extremely friendly. Speaking of staff, Patty is a wonderful. She's great at making people feel at home, even when home is far away.

Rooms are way too outdated and have not been updated for decades it seems. Ac unit is LOUD and rattles. Bathroom is very small and claustrophobic. Peeling paint, rust, and corroded surfaces in the bathrooms. Overall unpleasant rooms. WiFi also seems slow for large downloads and files for work. The location is top notch though and it is right next to the beach. Feels like a ripoff due to the high price and quality of the room. Wouldn’t mind paying more if the rooms were renovated.

Beachview Lodge is a warm, welcoming and friendly place. The property and rooms are pristine and there is true pride of ownership at this hotel. We have been traveling to this hotel for several years and have encountered the same staff repeatedly illustrating that the hotel is both well-managed and treats their staff well. The location cannot be beat- across the street from the beach and a short walk to the Village. Breakfast options are carefully and thoughtfully considered to appeal to a variety of preferences and dietary needs. This place can't be beat.

Nice hotel across from Carlsbad State Beach. The " partial ocean view room" that I booked was blocked by trees, visible from the front door only. Not worth the extra expense. Onsite parking is extra, but you could find street parking if you wanted to park for free and carry your bags. Nice breakfast in the morning. Property close to beach, restaurants, and shops.

Alila Marea Beach Resort Encinitas is a luxurious upscale resort in the coastal town of Encinitas, offering refined accommodations with some rooms boasting stunning ocean views. The property exudes a minimalist and inviting atmosphere, appealing to both CEOs and surfers alike. With its stylish Art Deco design, the resort provides top-notch amenities including an oceanfront pool, posh spa, fitness center, and multiple dining options featuring sustainably sourced ingredients.
This resort is nothing short of magical. The obvious selling point is the location and absolutely stunning views of the ocean. But the overall experience was so relaxing. The rooms are modern but also warm and inviting - the bed was so comfy and the shower was incredible. The pool overlooks the ocean and features a dry sauna with ocean views as well. There is light music at the pool to make it a vibe for enjoying a cocktail, but it was also quiet enough if you want to read a book. The spa is intimate and lovely and all three dining outlets on property offered something different and we enjoyed all of them. You really don't even have to leave the resort for a weekend here, especially since you can just walk down to the beach. Highly recommend for a relaxing and tranquil oceanfront retreat.

Had a great stay! The pool, hot tub, and sauna were relaxing and lounging by the pool was nice. Food at the pool was good as was the breakfast at Vaga. My room was quiet, comfortable and nicely decorated. I really enjoyed the eucalyptus in the shower and the great smelling shower products and body lotion. Bed was very comfortable, and the view of the ocean from the room was stunning. Steps from the beach! Staff were all friendly and welcoming, and valet staff were prompt and efficient. A peaceful and luxurious experience all around.

Service is generally better than Hyatt but not quite Four seasons. You can call me if you need more info. One standout department is the valet team. …and we didn’t even bring a car! They were all so engaging, helpful and accommodating. Top tier hospitality in a coastal vibe way. I don’t know all their names but Tommy, Gus, Angel and Matt were all amazing! …and whoever the kid is who got promoted off of the graveyard shift, he’s great too!

This resort is beautiful. The coastal views, steps from the beach, a most relaxing pool and spa & excellent service. We ate and drank at Vaga and The Pocket, both restaurants/bars at the resort. Our bartender Jared Enloe at The Pocket took care of us all weekend! Superb service, fun conversations, excellent drinks and I especially loved his food suggestions for our stay. Thank Jared and everyone at Hyatt for making our weekend getaway so special.

Our stay at Alila Marea was nothing short of spectacular! It started at check-in where John( who later reminded me capture my honors points, thank goodness!!) welcomed us and made us feel at home. He was kind, considerate, and professional as he listed the generous amount of amenities. The staff, the food & beverage, and most all the spectacular sunsets were a thing of beauty and marvel. We hope to be back soon but our 5 night stay was perfect. Two favorite things on site were the complimentary (strong cocktail👍) at sunset and the silent disco!! This place was amazing!!
Mitchell A — Google review
The only thing better than the spectacular location (and I can’t underscore this enough) which was amazing - was the staff. Eva and John were so attentive to my needs and went the extra mile to make sure my stay was more than enjoyable. They set the bar high with their attention to detail (and I’ve stayed at more hotels than I’d like to count). All the housekeeping staff were a pleasure too, they made you feel at home. I highly recommend making this the go to getaway in Southern California. You will not be disappointed.

This is the best place to stay in Encinitas. The location on the water is special. All the rooms are great. The amenities are first class. Special shout out to the valet team and Milad. I travel here for business often and Milad always makes me feel at home when I pull in.

This place is pretty amazing. They have everything you could want for a proper California beach vacation. Beach access with beach chairs, umbrellas, surf boards, etc. The best part is the pool and hot tub area. Beautiful views from the pool. All staff at the hotel are friendly and accommodating, but a special shout out to Dominic and Stephon at “The Pocket”for taking care of us while we were poolside. Their service was exceptional. What a great time. Definitely recommend 10 out of 10. at the pocket

Breakfast restaurant
Tip Top Meats is a renowned butcher shop and delicatessen that offers breakfast, lunch, and dinner options along with draft beer and wine. The establishment has a casual setting but is highly regarded for its unbeatable breakfasts and European-style food market. It's popular among European expats in San Diego who regularly visit to purchase cured meats, fresh cheeses, and international delights like Sauerkraut.
Local staple. Gonna miss this place. Food is delicious. Wide variety of authentic dishes. Deli and Mart has multiple selections of items from overseas. House made sausages and even house made high quality dog food.

I LOVE this place!! Fantastic German restaurant and a great place to get unique deli meats, as well as European grocery items! The location is shutting down in September, however, I'm sure they will relocate. Hurry in and grab a delicious German Dish or dessert!! 🤤
David L — Google review
This place doesn't disappoint. I always come here to get my ham hocks for ham bone soup. The prices are good and they have every type of meat you can think of. They also have bones for dogs which is a plus for our household. They also sell a wide variety of beers, German sweets and delicacies. They also have a restaurant which seems very popular although I've never personally tried it, I've heard good things.
Jessica C — Google review
The restaurant here is great, but it can take a long time to put in an order, and almost as long to get your order. So plan ahead. Everything I've ever eaten here has been delicious, carefully made, and well prepared, but it would be great if they came up with a more efficient order taking system. The shop is the best European market and meat shop in the region. It's a treat every time.
Rick R — Google review
This place was recommended to me for breakfast and I’m glad I went but I wasn’t expecting to stand in a line to order my food and then take a number to my table. The cheese omelette and home fries were good, the coffee was good and you get up to pour your own including water and soda. The place was clean and pretty crowded for a Monday morning at 11:30. The food and coffee is cheap and worth standing in line but we did have to wait 20 minutes at the table and people that came after us were getting their food first. The groceries are pretty expensive and there are a lot of empty shelves, not sure why but it looks like they do most of their business on the restaurant side.
Julie S — Google review
Nice market and restaurant. Go early and expect to get in line. Delicious food and very, very reasonable price. Our Czech guest was extremely impressed and satisfied with his dinner! Excellent beer! If you want some of their menu items at home, you can always buy and cook at home. We will visit again.

I was there it's last few weeks of operation @ last week of September 2024. Employees there indicated that they were hoping to re-open somewhere else but had not yet found a location. Basically that the landlord would not allow them to renew the lease If any of the powers that be from Tip Top are reading this, It'd be nice for you to comment here on the status or actuality of Tip Top ever re=opening. Awesome if it can re-open. And sadly if not THANK YOU all so much for a great memory of a awesomely fun local restaurant and deli that was definitely Tip Top! All the best! Tomco

It is an interesting place. It's a corner grocery store with wines and beers, plus a decent butcher shop, plus, surprisingly, an attached restaurant. Everything feels very German, including the menu, it was a delight to experience something outside the usual melting pot merchants. You enter the restaurant through the grocery store, the food is very affordable, and, despite looking like it would be better suited for an older crowd, was really quite tasty. Excellent quality, and in satiating quantity. It's so much not the usual type restaurant that would attract me as a customer but it won me over. It will be returning to taste all their other offerings.

The Flower Fields is a seasonal attraction located in Carlsbad, offering nearly 50 acres of stunning ranunculus flowers, walking paths, and the opportunity to purchase plants. It also serves as a picturesque wedding venue with various options for ceremonies and receptions amidst the vibrant floral beauty.
Amazing place. Didn't actually "go there." Just stopped by the vantage point above it off the road close to Legoland in March 2025. Great selection of flowers in assorted colors. Perhaps next time I will pay you enter.

What a beautiful place! We went on a Friday and it wasn’t very crowded. It was just gorgeous! The flowers are so pretty and fresh! We went into the butterfly room and it was pretty magical until my one year old grandson had a butterfly land on his lip and he tried to eat it! Luckily no butterflies were injured! The sweet pea maze was fun, we actually got a little lost. Everyone seemed happy who was there and the people working there were very nice! We went earlier in the day and took about 90 minutes, by the time we left the sun came out and I was overdressed. We can’t wait to go again next year.

I’m giving The Flower Fields Garden four stars. The garden was beautiful with a stunning variety of flowers, and the presentation was lovely. 😊 The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, which added to the pleasant experience. 🍦The on-site ice cream and cotton candy shops were a delightful touch, and the food options were nice as well. 😕However, the washrooms could have been cleaner, and the butterfly section was a bit overcrowded; I expected to see more butterflies. Overall, it was a good experience, and we enjoyed our visit.

The Carlsbad Flower Fields are a great place to visit, especially during peak bloom. Start early to beat the crowds and bring water, sun hats, or even an umbrella. There is a lot of walking and some dust from the parking lot, so be ready for that. The flowers are beautiful, but be mindful not to step into the fields so they stay protected. There is sometimes live music which adds a nice touch. The food options are not the best, mostly hot dogs and basic snacks, but they are edible if you are hungry. Lines can get long so patience is key. For kids, there is a fun scavenger hunt that takes them around the whole field. Afterward, you can stop by the Carlsbad Outlets nearby to do some shopping or grab ice cream. Overall, it is a great seasonal outing if you plan ahead.

My sister and I had a nice visit to see the May blooms at the Flower Fields in Carlsbad. We got there early, around opening time, on a Sunday. Parking was easy, there were a lot of spots available at that time. The flowers were beautiful and they even had a couple of small aviaries. We enjoyed seeing all the flowers in bloom, the swallows flying above the sweet pea maze, and the beautiful sculptures that were part of the Glass in Flight exhibit.

Awesome place and definitely worth a visit. My 3 year old daughter loved it!! Much more than just flowers. I drove by this place many times and my daughter always pointed to it, but I thought it was just walking around looking at flowers. I finally looked up the place online and seen it was much more than walking around looking at flowers. We slowly walked around, checked out most of the free activities, and enjoyed our day out. FYI, your shoes will get dirty, I wouldn’t wear some new kicks. You have a variety of food and drinks options, including some much needed coffee.

I’ve seen it from the freeway in the past, but I have never been here the experience in the history behind 125 year-old working farm with millions of beautiful flowers over 50 acres what an amazing experience and venue if I lived in California I would definitely consider a wedding or a shower or an anniversary party here. The staff was very friendly and informative. Absolutely beautiful phenomenal afternoon.

Brewery
Pizza Port Carlsbad is a popular local pizza chain that has gained fame for its craft brews, making it a hit among families, beer enthusiasts, and surfers. The establishment has garnered an impressive 29 medals at the World Beer Cup. With a family-friendly atmosphere and games for kids, Pizza Port Carlsbad offers legendary pizza alongside its award-winning beers.
Pizza Port had a great atmosphere—lively, welcoming, and clearly a popular spot with plenty of people coming in and out. The place stays busy, which is always a good sign, but it does mean you need to grab a table before you order or you might end up stuck without a spot for you and your family. They’ve got a bar with a solid range of drink options, and the addition of arcade games gives it a fun, laid-back vibe that makes it more than just your average pizza joint. The pizza itself was honestly really good—full of flavor, perfectly cooked, and definitely something I’d come back for. What really made the experience even better was the music selection; they had some Mexican music playing on the jukebox which gave the place a warm, familiar feel and made us feel right at home. Between the great food, fun atmosphere, and friendly vibe, I’d 100% visit Pizza Port again.

Great pizza spot right near the 5 and close to the beach. Laid back atmosphere and nice patio. Great slice and drink combos. Fun, original, pizzas of the month and awesome beer and seltzer selections.

Everything was okay . I had high hopes and was sadly disappointed with the food. I think this place is more for the alcohol then the pizza. If you're here only for the vibes and alcohol then yes probably a 5 star place for environment. However, we aren't drinkers and wanted to try this place for the reviews. The pizza bread is good but the toppings were scarce (for $3 a topping). I couldn't taste the toppings at all. Just tasted like cheese. The ranch isnt made in house. Straight up hidden valley ranch, which if its your thing, you're good. I think its gross. ... in summary. It was fine. But I probably wouldn't come again 😕.

My family on have been to a few Pizza Ports from the central coast in Morro Bay to Carlsbad. It's a good place to eat with the kids as you travel the Pacific Coast. When we arrived on a Thursday evening it was extremely busy, we had to wait for a table to clear. We waited about 40 minutes for our pizzas to be ready. They have a huge selection of om tap beers some brewed there at the location including beers to go. They also have a small arcade for the kids to play while you wait for your pizza. Overall I enjoyed the memory however it did take a long time to get our order and it was very loud and chaotic in there in comparison to Morro Bay which is a much smaller coastal city. I even took a cool souvenir shirt. Despite the chaos I would do it again idk if my gf would.
Roberto S — Google review
It's basically a cafeteria style pizza place. Good beers on tap. Our first visit was about a month ago and pizza was decent. Our second visit over the Columbus day weekend was chaos and pizza wait times were over an hour. We opted for some apps and they were just meh. When you order fried Mac n Cheese bites at most places, you know you won't be dazzled and it's likely a frozen product. What you don't expect is the bites to be made with blue box 😆 just had to take a picture to make sure my eyes weren't playing tricks. We made do with dipping veggies and these bites. Pizza Port is clearly Carlsbad's answer to feeding lots of visiting families with small children in the area. It's just ok.
Shelby R — Google review
This is absolutely my least favorite pizza Port location. Staff is rude (pizza line, not beer line. The beer dude was awesome) and are unclear with instructions. I clarified with the pizza person purchase that my purchase included beer and she confirmed it did. I was then told at the beer line that it did not and it only gave me a discount. When I picked up pizza, there is no clear indicator of where to pick it up, and when we asked someone where to get it she literally rolled her eyes at me. Will not come back. Better locations are nearby enough.
Dylan H — Google review
Wonderful location! Very family and pet friendly, close to great shops downtown. This should be really obvious but based on some other comments that weren’t aware it should be noted that I t’s a very busy location due to their iconic status, take that into account on what lines/wait times can be during peak or tourist times. They cater to allergens as well and we’ve never had an adverse reaction.
Thomas D — Google review
Was excited to place an order for Margherita pizza before the kitchen closed since my friends all Called and were told the kitchen was closed. However, that excitement quickly fell to crap when I got home to see that my Margherita pizza had no basil on it. Basil makes the pizza Margherita. I regret my tip. Is it so hard to just make one of the most basic pieces the right way so people can enjoy exactly what they ordered?

The restaurant boasts an intimate atmosphere with sophisticated Art Deco decor and a menu focused on organic, locally-sourced ingredients, prime meats, game, and fish. Guests can enjoy the old Hollywood ambiance of the lounge area or relax on the patio overlooking Carlsbad Village. French cuisine at its best! Rated #1 restaurant in Carlsbad for a reason! The food was amazing! The service great and attentive. Great wine selection. The rack of lamb was ordered medium rare and it came out right! The filet was cool perfectly too. This place is a great place for a romantic dinner or for a birthday. People go there in shorts but it’s really a nice place and like us, should have people come dressed up. It keeps this place classy and sets the mood for the dinner. Have fun!

Me and my family visited this place after a day in the LEGOLAND on a Saturday. It was not crowded at all. The services are very polite and attentive. We ordered 2 scallops for appetizers, a soup, and deer steak. My daughter loved the scallop a lot. Mint ice cream with chocolate source for dessert. It was not too sweet. We liked it.

Dining at Paon is much more than a meal, it's an authentic Parisian escape. From the moment we were seated on the twinkle-lit patio, the atmosphere was simply transportive, feeling just like a beautiful night out in France. The food is executed with perfection and incredible authenticity. We started with the warm walnut goat cheese crostini, which was a delicious interplay of savory and sweet, especially with the honey and thinly sliced apples. For the main course, the pheasant and rice was delicious and perfectly portioned. The surprise star of the evening, however, was the beet salad, turned out to be my favorite of the evening. The attention to service elevated the entire experience. Our waiter was fantastic, ensuring we had plenty of time between courses to savor the dishes, enjoy great conversation, and simply take our time in the gorgeous setting. Paon truly makes you feel like you are back in Paris. A five-star evening all around.

My duck confit was delicious, well balanced of taste and texture. The hanger steak was very good as well, well seasoned and cooked perfect. Service was great. Prices are pretty high ... cant afford more frequent dining here for sure...

Paon in Carlsbad left us underwhelmed. Servers were overly insistent on pushing pricey bottles, which felt off-putting. Bread and butter were delicious, but only one slice was offered — surprisingly stingy for fine dining. The wine we chose was good, but steeply priced. Food was uneven: some dishes were solid, others forgettable. I was also disappointed to find oysters only on the bar menu and not available in the main dining room. Service was attentive and polished, but overly formal. Overall, the experience just didn’t justify the high price point.

We went for a belated Mother’s Day lunch and were super happy with everything! Great wine menu, the food was delicious, the ambience is beautiful, and our server was funny and helpful. We sat outside which was great for a kiddo. Would definitely go back. Would like to check out their wine tasting room as well.

We had a great experience at Paon and will definitely come back. The service exceeded our expectations. Our server Eugene was very attentive but not intrusive. Eugene was friendly and highly professional and accommodating. The owner Steve was very personable and made us feel welcomed and comfortable. He came by our table, engaged with us, and gave us good recommendations! The food was amazing, very well seasoned and prepared to perfection. They also have a large wine selection and cocktails. Attached to the restaurant is a quaint wine bar/shop with live music on the weekends, large wine selection, and a cozy atmosphere! I highly recommend Paon and give Eugene a 5-star rating!

The Museum of Making Music in Carlsbad is a unique museum that celebrates the history and significance of the music products industry. It showcases the evolution of music from early 1900s marches and rags to today's cross-cultural expressions. The museum features galleries with outstanding examples of musical instruments displayed in vintage music store settings, along with audio and video clips of familiar tunes. Visitors can enjoy hands-on opportunities to play various instruments and learn about the innovative growth of the music industry over the years.
Small museum displaying everything from vintage to modern musical instruments. Fun interactive screens to learn all about the history and making of the prices in each section. They have some cool instruments that I've never heard of before, so I learned something. Nice staff. Cute gift shop.

This is a small but mighty museum. The musician in your family will love this place. The volunteers are knowledgeable and show pride in the museum. They will tell you everything or let you wander on your own. We had the best of both. The instruments and equipment are well taken care of. The hands-on displays were fun, and the lounge! Small museum, but packed with fun and interesting things to see and do! Definitely worth the trip if you're into music. I'm a synth nerd and learned a lot of new info at the ARP exhibit. The whole thing is really well put together. We spent 1.5 hours here and went to every exhibit and watched most of the videos on the info screens. I'd say give it 1 hour minimum, 2 hours max. Very cool place. We were there on a Friday late morning and nearly had it to ourselves. Highly recommended!

The Museum of Making Music was an incredible experience—one of the best museum visits I’ve ever had. It blends history with hands-on interaction in a way that makes it both fun and memorable. I’ve played a few instruments before, but I’ve always dreamed of trying a theremin, and I finally got the chance here. What makes this place stand out is that nothing feels off-limits—you’re encouraged to explore and actually play the instruments. It’s the perfect spot to get inspired, whether you’ve always wanted to try music or you’re already a musician. Don’t get me wrong there are displays you cannot touch. I definitely recommend adding it to your San Diego visit. It’s right next to Legoland, which makes it an easy stop if you’re already in the area.

This is a great spot to come and eat dinner! I took my fiance here on the night we got engaged, and it added even more to our special night! The staff was very attentive and the food came out really quickly! I was very impressed at the speed of the food and the quality as well. I order the mango sushi roll and my fiancee ordered one of their me tempura rolls, both were amazing and both were delicious! Our server was named Nathalie and she was very kind and helpful, honestly such a great experience!

The server was very friendly and attentive. The food was off the hook fancy without the fancy prices! We ordered dishes to share with everyone - we loved this tact as the dishes just kept coming and we all were able to get a taste and we just loved it!! A great evening to share with close friends! The fish was fresh. We did not feel rushed and enjoyed the night.

Came here for a date night. After reading the mixed reviews I was a little skeptical but left heavily impressed. We sat at the sushi bar and our sushi chef Joe gave us great recommendations and service. Left very full, happy and eager to visit again :)

Surprisingly amazing experience! All the rolls were absolutely delightful. Pork belly bao spot on! Yellow tuna jalapeno roll very refreshing, which went great with more ummami caterpillar roll. Pedro was very decadent! We demolished all of it (just the two of us). Service also friendly. Will be back !

This is a real culinary destination in Carlsbad, excellent food! If you are plant based or vegan it is worth the trip out to Carlsbad to try their vegan sushi. The chef who came up with these recipes is really inspired and talented. I’ve attached photos of the vegan sushi creations “earthquake” and “lady in red” 10/10 for presentation and flavor, sooo good!

My favorite place in Carlsbad! The food always has a great taste , fresh and drinks as well. The service is great 👌… but every time, the kitchen sent food on different time (you need to wait for the others or not eat together 😔). Doesn’t matter if everything is cold, raw, cooked.
Jairy L — Google review
Great sushi and sashimi! The quality and freshness of the fish cannot be overstated. Our waitress was not very attentive and we had to ask for water and tea refills throughout our lunch. One of our orders was gotten completely wrong. The hamachi kama (grilled yellow tail collar) was very tasty but it was the smallest kama I have ever been served. I would say that these complaints are very minor compared to the overall experience and I have no problem recommending this place at all. The price was reasonable considering it is in Carlsbad.

Batiquitos Lagoon is a stunning coastal wetland that offers visitors a unique blend of natural beauty and wildlife observation. Spanning 561 acres, this protected area is home to over 180 bird species, including the endangered Snowy Plover and California Least Tern. The lagoon features a delightful two-mile hiking trail shaded by riparian trees, providing ample opportunities for hikers to soak in panoramic views while enjoying the serene environment.
This is a lovely place with sparkling lagoon with water that shines in the sunshine, surrounded by tall green plants. You can take a peaceful walk or jog, spot many fascinating birds, and soak in the calming natural beauty. Plus, it's a perfect spot for capturing beautiful photos. When I visited it, I had two beautiful experiences. At 8 am, it was misty, creating a serene and mysterious atmosphere. Then, around 9 am, the sun came out, and everything was surrounded by warm sunlight, giving me the best of both worlds. It's really worth a visit!

Consistent delicious and fresh food with amazing flavors! Cozy atmosphere and personable service at the bar. Thanks Steel! Steak and eggs & beet salad. Perfection! Didn't get a pic of the biscuit and gravy, but all worth ordering again.

Chicken shawarma was great. Beet salad was good. Service was lacking, had to track down our server for another drink - she was reading a book at the front. She should take lessons from Cody at Nicks on state restaurant.

Stopped in for a quick bite. The food was outstanding. We had a couple of appetizers, the Shawarma Tacos and queso dip, which the kids loved. Mac and cheese, beat salad, and BLTA were really good. You can tell they source locally because it was so fresh.

Went out for a business dinner and I couldn't have asked for better. The food was great and the service was exceptional. Ambiance definitely helped. We will absolutely be back! Definitely one of our new favorite places. Only recommendation from the whole group was to please chop the Caesar salad. (It was still great though. Lol )

I recently came back here on my lunch to try their Fish burrito, which was better than I expected. It was a good amount of fish, not breaded, and very flavorful. It was big enough that I was satisfied after I ate everything, but not overly full or uncomfortable. I have also tried their California Burrito, but I might prefer the fish burrito, I felt better after it more, vs the carne asada.

Food is fresh and creative. Good selection of craft beers and they make amazing fresh cocktail creations! Staff is attentive, friendly and well informed about the food and drink options. Easy relaxing spot for great food in Carlsbad Village.

This is a great bar and restaurant in downtown Carlsbad. One of the few places that is open late. This is a great restaurant with a delicious food menu. But it also has a great drink list. So don’t feel obligated to eat because a lot of people go there just to drink. It’s a little pricey, but very on par for downtown Carlsbad. Parking is difficult for any place in this area of town so it’s smart to always budget more time for finding a spot.

The family-owned Mexican dive bar also hosts live music events for patrons to enjoy.
The human and canine patrons were having a great time, so we sat down for lunch. Ordered the two taco plates and had chicken and assada. The served was kind enough to split our plate without even asking. The place had a very Carlsbad, beach type vibe. We liked the chicken taco best. There is a parking lot next the place with patios on the street side and in the Parking lot.

I have been here three times, once at night for drinks, once for lunch take out, and once to dine in for lunch. Overall the food is alright so far, I would like to try other things. The service each time I have gone was very slow especially the last time. I ordered the Pollo Borracho the last time which was grilled chicken breast sautéed with tequila lime served over flour tortilla with pepper jack and sautéed onions & peppers. It was a larger portion so I had some to take home which was nice. My food was good, but for a lunch break it's better to pick up or go later in the night when you aren't as worried about the time. The night scene is more fun than lunch time atmosphere sitting outside with friends.

Tamarack Surf Beach, also known as Carlsbad State Beach, is a popular spot for locals and visitors alike. The wide shoreline provides plenty of space to relax and enjoy the sun or take part in more active pursuits like surfing. With excellent conditions for surfing year-round, it's a standout activity at this beach.
Great sandy beach area for miles. Lower paved walking trail beachside as well as up on the street level. Lots of overlook points, crashing surf, something for everyone. Street parking first come, first serve. Pics taken around 7am on a Sunday.

Great for a beach day! Many stair-access points to the beach along the road so I suggest avoiding the parking lot headache and finding street parking in the surrounding neighborhood. We parked on Hemlock and our walk down to the beach was less than 10 minutes. Lots and lots of people occupying the sandy beach on a Saturday afternoon, but this was expected. The ocean water wasn’t too cold and there were lots of people boogie boarding/surfing/swimming in the water without wetsuits. Don’t forget sunscreen! The UV index can get really high even when the sun doesn’t feel scorching hot. Really enjoyed our day on Tamarack Surf Beach despite the amount of people and limited parking.

Loved this beach though parking is an issue because didn’t see public or private parking lots, but there were few free street parking with very few available. The atmosphere was quiet and pleasant with the refreshing ocean breeze, and many people seem to be enjoying their time either in the water, on the sand, or strolling along the waterfront. A wonderful place to relax and get fresh air.

A beautiful beach in Carlsbad, California. Not too crowded, the beach stretches far, the sand is clean and free of rocks, sticks, glass, etc. The lifeguards and police will drive on the sand every hour or so to make sure no one is drinking from glass bottles, smoking, having dogs, etc. No dogs allowed here. Lots of jellyfish here (ones that don't sting).

If you're looking for a budget-friendly place to stay while in Carlsbad, CA, Motel 6 is a great option. The property has everything you need during your stay, all at an affordable price, and guests get free Wi-Fi and pets and kids are free. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable, which was great given the budget constraints. Additionally, the grounds were outstanding - very quiet and well-maintained.
Outstanding customer service 👏🏻 Ashaurie and Alin made me feel welcomed a true feel at home experience 😀 they also made sure that my room was fine no issues and was clean. Couldn't have asked for better treatment 😁 room had everything I needed to have a comfortable night stay thank you both for everything! I look forward to my next visit 😁

*Honest review * I checked into a room on the first floor , nice clean room conveniently located by the pool. front desk employee was nice and welcoming. my issue at this property was the AC it didn't work ! my room was in the high 80's all night I was told that maintenance could stop by in the morning which wouldn't help me because it's a one night stay. This was one of the most uncomfortable nights imaginable. I'm not sure if this is a common problem for this property but I will definitely skip this motel 6 when visiting Carlsbad.
Fatima G — Google review
I get the “you get what you pay for” idea so I didn’t expect the moon here but just save yourself the stress and go somewhere else. 4 days and no cleaning, they messed up our keys and after waiting 10 minutes for the clerk she was horribly rude and she then blamed us for the keys not working, sketchy people sleeping and wandering in the parking lot, yelled at by one of their guests who was clearly on drugs simply for standing and waiting for our ride. On and on with nonsense. Mind you….there is a security person who stands by the entry at night I guess to keep it safe? Our last night there we came back to the motel at 9pm to find it surrounded by multiple cop cars for an incident. While finally waiting to check out I was behind two separate people complaining about their stay. The clerk had clearly been hearing it all day and offered nothing to fix the problems of no internet and no room cleaning so it felt like this is their standard of service. It is to say the least a poorly managed property. While it is in a nice area of town this motel is definitely not safe. I travel extensively and thought I could save a little money since we were only going to be in the room a small amount of time every night….big mistake! If you choose to stay here I wish you luck. You will need it.

We booked this room on booking.com, and the pictures looked phenomenal. I don't stay at Motel 6 because it's not my type of place to stay. When looking for our trip, the pictures looked so amazing that we thought, why not? Let's give a shot. It's in California, it's next to the beach, maybe this is just a nicer Motel 6. Far from it, your average motel 6 with roaches. they let long-term people stay in these room, and that was the excuse given to me when I showed him of the video that I followed a cockroach and smashed in the room. So they said it's from that and they have no control. They would not refund us our money. So we could go somewhere else, which was wild to me. I DO NOT RECOMMEND this place.

Room was absolutely disgusting. Mold in bathtub. Floors stained, beds dirty lights painted. Drains clogged. Vinyl planks bowed and ruined. No trim around bathtub. Gaps in flooring. Drywall screws holding vents in. Air conditioner not qorking

I would not stay here again. Friday night was ehhh. At 3am on Sunday morning we woke up to what sounded like our shower was turned on…come to find out, the ceiling was pouring water. I went to the front desk to let them know. The lady at the front desk just stated “I cannot do anything and the manager is not here but he will call you” I still have yet to get a phone call in regards to having anything done. We ended up having to leave the hotel at 3:30am to drive home (back to Arizona) which was not the original plan but it was what we were forced to do. Tried to call the hotel at 11am like the front desk lady said to do….got nothing but put onto an immediate hold. I would never recommend or stay here again.

If your hotel allows pets, you need to make sure that the room is clean and free of any dog smells from the next guest. Not everyone likes dogs, so you have to be considerate. In the room I stayed in, every corner of the room was covered in the dog smell. I had to ask for a cleaning spray to cover up the smell. The worst!
Ton Y — Google review
Complete trash and a bunch of people allowing their dogs to 🫘 all over the grass. Paper thin walls which the housekeeping love love love to take advantage of yelling on walkie talkies every morning to make sure you don't get to sleep in. The worst people you ever seen staying here are living here. Yes living here and completely overtaking the whole area with the loudness and animals. They refused me a room with a microwave. I woke up in the morning to people slamming doors and 2 cockroaches 🪳crawling across the bathroom. I smashed one and saved it on a bag. But I doubt anyone would care. Owners must be so greedy tell the staff to not give out the rooms with microwave and fridge and instead they bunch you with the people who live there and it's just one big trashy circus. Nope nope nope thought that I was done forever with motel 6 the last time I stayed there. This time is over. I will never use their motel chain again.

WARNING: CONSTRUCTION ON SITE!!! Upon arrival, I found the table outside wobbling with one leg propped up by an empty sanitary pad box. The next morning (Friday), we woke to construction noises on a room across the walkway from ours. I asked an employee what time this would start the next day, and was told there was no construction on weekends. Nonetheless, metal-cutting commenced early Saturday morning, filling the air with the grinding squeal of saw teeth meeting their target and showering sparks off the balcony right across from our door. I sent an email after our stay asking if this was normal for the hotel. I was polite and complimentary of the location and the staff. [“What a lovely location! The flowers, trees, and gazebos made for a wonderful ambiance. Staff were kind and always available with an extra towel when needed.”] I never got a response back. In case management reads this review, I have copied part of my email and hope the suggestions are considered: “I am wondering if this is standard protocol at Carlsbad by the Sea or if we simply experienced some bad luck during a busy time. Alerting us prior to our stay would have been appreciated for some preparation (such as packing earplugs), and equipping employees with the construction schedule may have allowed for adequate response (such as purchasing earplugs). A posted schedule could have helped us plan for times out of our room, or at least could have provided some warning. I hope these strategies are considered for inclusion in policy moving forward.”

Check in was no problem and the women at the front desk were friendly. The heated pool was so nice but sadly the Jacuzzi jets did not work, it was overly hot, and the dial for it was broken off. As well as the card lock didn't work so someone had to open it for us. The room was fine, but we did find some gum on the wall and the beds were too soft, like sinking into it and no support. Overall it was a decent place to stay.

For the price I would give them 5 stars but due to some things that were in need of upgrade/repair we will stay with a 4. Our gripes were minimal. The staff was amazing, whatever we needed, they were on it! The rooms themselves were okay. They renovated the rooms but not the furniture as of yet, the two didn't mix. Served it purpose. They take care of the pool. Location is convenient to the expressway and the beach. We would stay here again for sure! Oh I just read a few of the other reviews. I forgot to add. The mirror over the sink is money!!!

I would not recommend staying at this hotel based on my experience during a one-night stay on May 17, 2025. Late at night, an intoxicated man mistakenly thought our room was his and began aggressively banging on our door around 10:30 PM. He continued yelling and refused to leave. I was traveling with my daughter, and we were terrified. The front desk staff responded but could not identify the man, as he had no ID or room key. He returned a short while later, urinated outside our door (which leaked into our room), and caused further disruption. The police were eventually called, but the situation was poorly handled, and the guest was allowed back into the room next to ours. We endured loud banging and noise until 3:30 AM, getting little to no sleep. While a staff member did their best to clean up, the overall response was unacceptable — especially for a situation that involved the safety and comfort of paying guests. I contacted the hotel directly to request a refund or compensation and followed up after receiving no reply. To this day, they have never responded. This was a disturbing and stressful experience, and the lack of professionalism and accountability from hotel management is deeply disappointing. I recommend looking elsewhere if you’re seeking a safe and respectful place to stay.

Overall, nice facility and location, but or room left some to be desired. There are like 6 or 7 buildings wrapped around the pool in the middle. The pool was decent and there was a hot tub as well (jets were a little weak). There is also a cool food hall on one corner with about 10 food stalls and a bar. Liked the food I go there (street tacos and a lobster roll). Overall, nice facilities. The room was decent, seemed to be updated recently, had desk and enough plugs. Bed was decent. Our room had some dirty spots though and there is no house keeping unless requested. We also had some issues with the water that others in my family also had. The water was sometimes scalding hot and took like 10 mins to cool down, both in the sink and shower. Happened multiple times over our 2 days. AC was very cold and kept room comfortable...no complaints there. Location was nice. Gas station on the corner, outlets across the street, some other near by restaurants and beach is not too far away.

WARNING !!!!!! FIRST VACATION IN YEARS WITH ALL MY KIDS AND THIS IS WHAT WE GET. We had joining rooms. My son woke up with bug bites all over his body. When I told them, they brushed it off. Put all of us in one room. We are a family of 7. I had to buy an air mattress to fit us. One of the mattresses had mold growing on the sides of the bed. The Heater was on all night, and the AC wouldn't work. The next morning, when they fixed it, there was black mold growing next to the AC vent. The pillow had a blood stain on from someone else, and they never changed after I told the housekeeper. The pool area was good, though. I even called the property managers office and never heard back from them.

Stayed here for three nights. I thought about turning the key in the moment I walked in the room, but regrettably, I didn't. If they put you in building C, run, because you're going to hear the I-5 all night long. The rooms are very old. They tried to upgrade them, but no matter how much sugar you sprinkle on crap, it's still crap. There is no housekeeping service. Never came by to change sheets or bring fresh towels or replenish the shower soap in three days for four people. The floor in room 246 has a panel right by the sink that is about to cave in. The bathroom sink only has hot water, so you can't regulate the temperature. This place used to be so nice when the "food court" was part of the hotel and they provided free breakfast. Now, it seems like the only thing this hotel cares to do is take your money. At check out, the guy could care less if I even slept in their rooms. I can't believe they charged me 10% homeless tax. Never mentioned that at check in. I will never be staying here again. Looking forward to them shutting it down and building something worth staying in. This is not a hotel, it's a cheap motel at best. Don't waste your money.

Situated in San Marcos, California, the Lakehouse Hotel & Resort is a stylish and contemporary lakeside retreat. This upscale hotel offers chic and modern rooms along with two outdoor pools. The property has been recognized as one of the top 25 hotels by TripAdvisor and is conveniently located just 30 minutes from Escondido, Carlsbad, and Encinitas.
We had a wonderful stay at Lakehouse Resort! The location is absolutely beautiful, right along the lake, providing a peaceful and scenic atmosphere. We booked a king room with a lake view, and it exceeded our expectations — spacious, clean, and thoughtfully designed. The memory foam bed was very comfortable, and the bathroom was also spotless with a large, modern shower. One of the highlights was the private balcony with adorable yellow chairs, perfect for relaxing and enjoying the stunning lake views. The TV setup also lets you log into your own Netflix account, which is a nice modern touch. The resort offers a great range of amenities that make the resort fee worth it — from kayaking and paddleboarding to swimming, golf balls, and pickleball. We also appreciated the free EV charger, though it was a bit slow, so plan accordingly. Staff at the lobby were friendly and welcoming, helping to make the whole experience feel warm and inviting. All in all, Lakehouse Resort offers a great mix of relaxation and activities in a serene lakeside setting. Highly recommend!

This hotel exceeded all my expectations for a weekend getaway. Nestled in a quiet part of town, it offered a peaceful retreat from city noise. The room was beautifully furnished with modern décor and featured large windows that let in natural light. The bathroom was spacious and equipped with a rain shower and quality toiletries. The staff were friendly and went out of their way to help with local recommendations. I also loved the rooftop terrace, which provided stunning views of the skyline. The complimentary breakfast was delicious and offered a variety of fresh options.

Beautiful property with a wonderful location. My room was on the lake, and it was very nice to get my kids to sleep and then sit out on my patio overlooking the water. The 2 pools were pristine and the property was very quiet. My sons especially enjoyed going paddle-boating first thing in the morning.

WORST sleep ever at the Lakehouse Resort. This resort is more of a glorified motel. The check-in area is charming but the rooms are lacking character and furnishing dated and showing obvious signs of wear and tear. The room size is nice but instead of using two queen or king beds (plenty of room for these bed options), they chose two double beds with THREE full size nightstands. There's more nightstand space than sleeping space. The bedding need to be freshened. They are super starched and wrinkled from either overwashing or simply poor quality material. The bedding was already wrinkled when we first entered our room. It's not comfortable to sleep with such rough and somewhat hard bedding. If you are assigned to a first floor room like we were, it sucks. You have a view of the parking lot right outside so there's no privacy (we had to keep our blackout curtains shut during daytime because people can look right into our room). The sound proofing is HORRIFYING. We can hear every single step taken by the upstairs guest..the ceiling shakes and the noise echos. In fact, I am up at 6am this morning thanks to the MMA style sound upstairs as I am writing this review. The WiFi is a joke. We've had better speed in the woods. Most terrible sleep for $300+ hotel. Plus they tag on another $48.60/night RESORT FEE. Don't make us pay for kayak use, beach cruiser rental that we didn't even use and call it "complimentary" with the resort fee. Ridiculous! Almost $400 for a dumpy stay.

The hotel was fine for a two-night stay. The room was clean, though quite basic in terms of design and furniture. The bed was moderately comfortable, and the sheets were fresh. The bathroom was small but functional, with a working shower and clean towels. Breakfast was included — a small buffet with a few cold and warm items. The staff were professional and did their jobs, but there wasn’t much personal interaction. A practical choice for short stays.

I could only answer and dial out if I put the phone on speaker and there were ants all over the bathroom and kitchen area. The room had a guest with a dog the night before(an employee informed me)that had left a huge stain right by where you would get into bed so I wasn’t able to avoid it. I could clearly see items like the tv remote, door handles, phone, mini fridge, etc had not been wiped down. That’s a huge pet peeve for me. On the plus side they offer several free activities to do on the lake the hotel faces including paddle boats, swimming pool, golf, bicycles rental and much more. The staff were very accommodating and had awesome customer service. Even with the couple things that bothered me, I would definitely get a room here again. I also recommend using a third party to get a room. I paid half of what the hotels website was asking for.

I had 2 reservations 2 days apart. First stay, absolutely fabulous. Second stay, not so much. The check in service was rude stating I booked 2 queen beds instead of a King bed. I never book queen beds.

Carlsbad State Beach is a picturesque stretch of sand with a paved pedestrian path and volleyball nets, known for dolphin sightings. It's also famous for its renowned surf spots like Tamarack, Terramar, Ponto Jetties, and The Camp Store. Early risers can join the First Light Surf Club for morning waves with a focus on mental health. Visitors can explore local surf shops and schools that solidify Carlsbad's status as a surfer's haven.
Beautiful beach! Relaxing, clean, not to crowded. Grat place to bring the family, play, read or take a nap. Is very easy to get there. Very close to the main street. You have to park on the street and maybe you'll need some time to find a place for your car, but not too much. Even if you don't park to close you will enjoy the town while walking toward the beach. Is a place with great vibes. We really recommend this place.

What a beautiful beach! Great for sunbathing, surfing, and boogie boarding or just splashing around in the cold sea. Easy access to all of the shops and fantastic restaurants in Carlsbad. Make sure to stay for the amazing sunsets.

A Blissful Day at Carlsbad State Beach Today's visit to Carlsbad State Beach was nothing short of delightful, offering a perfect blend of natural beauty and vibrant activity. The walk along the pristine beach and its accompanying walkway, stretching from town to the far end, was incredibly refreshing, truly showcasing why this destination attracts so many. The beach itself was a hub of activity. Numerous body surfers skillfully rode the 3-4 foot blue-green waves, adding a dynamic energy to the seascape. Several volleyball games were set up, fostering a lively atmosphere, and a host of sun worshipers dotted the sands, soaking in the coastal charm. Accessibility and amenities were well-provided. Concrete tables with benches were conveniently located along the overlooking roadside walkways, offering perfect spots for a break or a picnic. Restrooms were readily available up and down the main beach area, and the reassuring presence of lifeguards ensured a safe environment for all. Despite a somewhat overcast sky, the cool, clean Pacific breeze made the entire experience simply addictive. It was an ideal day for physical activity, with many walkers enjoying the scenic route and getting their step counts in. For those looking to refuel, plenty of foodie options are conveniently located nearby, just across the road and in town. Parking, while seemingly getting close to capacity at the train station lot where I parked, appeared adequate overall. All in all, it was a very pleasant, beach-enhanced day that left a lasting impression. Carlsbad State Beach truly delivers a fantastic coastal experience.

South Carlsbad State Beach is generally well-regarded for its beautiful views, spacious campsites, and proximity to amenities. However, it can get crowded, especially on weekends, and parking can be limited. Some reviewers mention the lack of beach access from certain campsites and the noise from neighboring campers.

Let's just start with when you arrive & go to front desk. For me that says it all about your stay. Marietta C.not only has a very welcoming smile, she is there to help you 100% you tell her what you like for stay ( room, price, info) she is on top of it & won't break away from her computer tell she finds you the best deal & you are happy as well. Very efficient, helpful, goes above & beyond. Hotel hospitality industry need more woman like her. Thank you for making my stay & my pets stay like home

Staff was nice but this hotel needs a lot of work. Rugs throughout the hallways smelled and the one In our room was so dirty it was sticky disgusting! Also why do you allow pets if you are not willing to throw out damaged furniture. I honestly didn’t even want to sit on the couch. So much potential for such roomy rooms sad they don’t do anything about any of these bad reviews.
Vicky C — Google review
Super filthy dirty disgusting carpets. I didn’t let my son even seat on the little couch. I’ve seen homeless people sleeping on cleaner ones. Cockroaches in the sink. When we entered the hallway from the elevator it smelled like moldy socks and a mix of cigarette and marijuana. And the carpet was appallingly dirty. The room AC was set on 62 so it was like a morgue. No heater. No microwave, one fork, bugs in the cupboard and with the dishes. We used our sleeping bags, there was no way we were gonna sleep in such dirty sheets. I understand it is much cheaper but if it’s cheaper because it’s dirty then people need to know that. This hotel looks like it used to be nice. The architecture is beautiful and so is the landscaping. I think whoever bought it last has zero care or business knowledge. Too bad, lots of potential.
Ta P — Google review
Worse hotel we have ever stayed at! While there were coffee packets available, the fully equipped kitchen didn't even have a coffee maker! Cupboard doors were hanging off the hinges. There was no hair dryer. There was an iron but no ironing board. The only two windows in the room were broken (stuck open with big tears in the screens) which made it very noisy since you are located just yards from a railroad track where trains travel through all night long. Thank goodness we were on the 3rd floor so at least no one could come right in through our windows! The carpets were badly stained and most likely dirty. We ended up sleeping in our clothes on top of the bed - just didn't feel clean at all! We will never recommend or stay at another Studio 6 - horrible!
Donna S — Google review
Absolutely terrible - booked through Expedia and the pictures posted did not represent the hotel room I was given. Absolutely disgusting: dog hair everywhere , the sheets were dirty and stained, the mattress was absolutely disgusting, the room was beat up, bugs on walls, broken A/C unit. I asked to change rooms and I was told I couldn’t and would need to speak to management in the morning. I packed my things up and walked to a hotel down the road that was much cleaner and accommodating. Will never even consider staying at another Motel 6 in my life.
Sean R — Google review
This place is a disaster. Do not be enticed by the price or the location. Upon checking in, we were greeted by cockroaches in our supposed well equipped kitchen. There were cockroaches, crawling in and out of the two bowls and one dish provided, cockroaches in the one sauce pan that was underneath the stove, a cockroach in the garbage disposal. When the front desk staff was notified, they told us that they did not have housekeeping available on the property on a Friday afternoon around 5 PM when we checked in. The front desk staff was kind enough to look for a can of raid so we could take care of the cockroach situation ourselves. He was not able to find one we got our own raid and Tt took care of the problem that evening only to wake up to dead cockroaches all over the kitchen floor. The sofa looked like it had previously been the scene of a gunshot victim. There was one small trashcan for the entire room, and even after housekeeping came that one trashcan remained full. When we notified housekeeping the next morning of the roach problem, she put one finger up to her lips motioning for me to be quiet about the cockroaches as if it were a secret and nobody else would know about it. There is obviously a cockroach infestation in the entire hotel. There is no amount of money that is worth saving to put my families health in jeopardy..
Mana W — Google review
The good: close to Legoland, and a gas and convenience store across the street. Ample room with full kitchenette. SOME OF the front desk staff was friendly and helpful. The bad: old, tore-down furniture. Found at least 4 small roaches roaming around the room during our stay. Bathroom amenities were not there when we arrived. One of the towels was super stained. Room was not cleaned during our stay. Pool and fitness room were closed. No breakfast offered. They wouldn't keep our luggage for a short while after check out, the front desk staff the last day was NOT friendly.
Javier R — Google review
The front desk staff was very kind and considerate. The location of this motel is great if you want to see a bit of the area along the coast. But if you are a light sleeper good luck with the train tracks so close by. I wished there was at least a continental breakfast option, or an available/ stocked market pantry near front desk. Seems like a lot of potential but a lot of unused space going to waste near the lobby area. As well as an empty dry pool. That's no fun! Also I did come in contact with some critters (roaches small and medium in kitchen and bathroom) my least favorite part of my stay. And because of that I will not be returning.

Extended stay hotel
Homewood Suites by Hilton Carlsbad-North San Diego County is a recently renovated all-suite hotel that offers the comforts of home. The suites feature fully equipped kitchens, separate living areas with flat-screen TVs, and comfortable bedding. The hotel is conveniently located near popular attractions and the airport. Guests can enjoy amenities such as a heated outdoor pool, hot tub, and gym. Free parking is available on-site.
If you're looking for something closer to San Diego but not wanting to be directly downtown, this is a great option! We stayed in a renovated/updated 2 bed room. Very cozy, and a good fridge. The breakfast has been so yummy! The parking lot is a little funky, but not bad. I think it's just because it's shared entry with the Hampton Inn next door. I would definitely stay here again.

Pros- 1. Breakfast was great. All people working breakfast were working hard and still had smiles on their faces. 2. Destiny working in the front most of our stay was so nice and helpful. She was dressed professionally and had a good attitude. Got towels for us immediately after they were requested. 3. Decent location, some stuff nearby. 10-12 min from Legoland. 4. Pool and hot tub looked nice. Cons- 1. Old hotel and very outdated. Some areas looked to have mold or not cleaned well. Utensils in our room were rusty. 2. Elevators are loud and slow. Kind of scary. 3. Brook working in the front had a horrible attitude and was arguing with guests about housekeeping. Was not helpful or friendly. Also, bad mouthed/complained about guests to another employee. Just so unprofessional and looked like she just got out of bed. 4. Housekeeping service not received during our stay. Requested house keeping with Brook who probably didn't bother putting us down. Ultimately expected more out of this hotel. Kind of disappointed because it was a family vacation for my son's birthday.

When we arrived at the hotel, the exterior, facilities, and room interior were different from the pictures. The pool is tiny, and not sure if the water pump is running because the water does not look clear Our room has a moldy smell, but we think it's OK since it's gone after the AC runs. The furniture is kinda rundown, like the sofa and the chairs are sunken in like old grandma furniture. Our dishwasher is not working, and after a few attempts, I was asked to troubleshoot by myself, with no in-house engineer. We ended up in another room the next day, which is weird, as it looks newer than our previous room. But again the bathroom shower doesn't work properly. The faucet and the head shower run at the same time, no matter whether I pull or push the knob on the faucet. Also, we found dirt, crumbs, or hair a couple of times after the room was cleaned when we got back. We cut short our stay and moved to a different hotel since we are traveling with a baby. But the only good thing is their staff are super nice and helpful.

We recently stayed here for two nights. We were greeted with exceptional customer service. Our room was well kept and the free breakfast was absolutely delicious. The beds were very comfortable and made it so it was very easy to sleep. 5 Stars for this hotel! We are looking forward to our next stay.

We stayed at Homewood Suites Carlsbad and had a nice experience overall. The location is definitely a highlight—very close to LEGOLAND and also just a short drive to the beach, which made it convenient for our family. The hotel itself is clean and comfortable with spacious rooms that worked well for us. The included breakfast was okay—not outstanding, but enough to get the day started. Staff was friendly and check-in was smooth. Overall, a good option for families visiting the area and looking for comfort with easy access to local attractions.
Vana O — Google review
My recent stay at the Homewood Suites was, to put it mildly, disappointing. While the location was convenient, the hotel itself felt like stepping back in time – and not in a charming, nostalgic way. The entire property is in dire need of a refresh. The lobby felt drab, the hallways were dimly lit, and the room... oh, the room. The furniture was dated, with visible wear and tear. But the real kicker was the bathroom. Everything appeared relatively clean at first glance, but the provided towels left much to be desired. I was greeted by a towel that had hair stuck to it, which was incredibly off-putting. Ultimately, the combination of outdated decor and questionable cleanliness made for an unpleasant experience.
Rodney D — Google review
This was easily the most disgusting hotel I’ve ever been to. When we arrived to our room, I pulled back the bed sheets to find giant yellow stains all over🤮. There were also hairs and dirt in the shower. I’m not even sure this room had been cleaned before our arrival. It was 2am and we had little kids so we had to try to make do with what we could. We decided to call and request new sheets. When they dropped them off we found that these ones were 1. The wrong size and 2. Also yellow stained🫣 The cherry on tops here were the extremely limited parking due to all the construction happing on the hotel and the elevator trying to go up without closing the door. 0/10 would NOT recommend this place
Bella B — Google review
I'm a diamond member and I had much higher expectations of this place. I went downstairs to get a snack for the room and I cannot charge it to the room I had to go to some kiosk and I said no thank you the phones in the room were busted up relics. For Carlsbad California this place is not worthy. The employees were okay but they were not helpful when I asked for a working phone so I could get a wake up call. The lady at the front desk and a maintenance guy both said they would take care of it and I had to get up early and they didn't do anything very disappointing

Public beach
Terramar Point in Carlsbad is a hidden gem that offers an array of experiences for visitors. Known for its breathtaking sunsets, this spot showcases some of the most stunning views in California as the sky transforms into a canvas of vibrant colors. Early risers can explore tide pools at low tide, where marine life like sea hares and brittle stars can be spotted, making it a perfect adventure for nature enthusiasts. Accessing the beach requires navigating a long staircase, which adds to its secluded charm.
We love coming to this lookout to catch the sunset. You can head down the somewhat hidden set of stairs down to access a small beach below the bluffs. Great sunsets, people watching, and lots of surfers. Some parking is available on either side of the road up top. Not a ton, but we’ve always been able to find a spot. Little slice of heaven!
Shannon N — Google review
Great area for surfing, beach access is a little "hidden" but right off Cerezo drive (stairs down to it). There is mesh fencing up along the pathway for much of it on the upper street level. Hike down to the beach area (rocky here) to watch waves and surfers. Street parking first come, first serve. Pics taking around 6:15am on a Sunday.

Molly M — Google review
Nice little surf spot. Parking is limited up close, but plenty around the area. It can be sketchy when the back wash hits from high tide. This place gets super crowded even on weekdays.
Donny B — Google review
I went during low tide, but it still wasn't low enough. This is a tiny strip of beach that is limited accessible. Forget walking along the beach here! Great for surfing I couldn't walk along cliffs, got waves up to hip level. I suggest going to beaches south of La Costa, Encinitas & Solana Beach, if you enjoy long beach walks on sand along cliffs. Limited street parking here
Esther — Google review
If its nice out or the waves are good parking is going to be tougher, though there are plenty of spots. Its a small little beach, not great for lounging. When there's sand/low tide it can be nice for walking and exploring tide pools. Great surf spot. Long rundown staircase to access the beach.
Melissa ( — Google review
My son is obsessed with marine life. And loves tide pools. We went early in the morning, around 7am and saw a bunch of sea hairs, a brittle star (which he was super excited about) and what we think was a wavy turbine Great place at low tide

For accessibility there is a very long staircase to be able to get to the beach. Very beautiful view, but NO dogs are allowed on the beach. Period Very limited parking on the side of the road, and there is no parking lot.

I’ve stayed at a lot of hotels, but the Fairfield Inn & Suites San Diego Carlsbad really stood out. From the moment I walked in, I felt like more than just a guest. The staff here is fantastic – super friendly and genuinely thoughtful. Everyone, from check-in to housekeeping, went out of their way to make sure I had everything I needed. The rooms are GREAT – clean, spacious, and comfy. The bed? I slept like a rock. It’s the little touches, like fresh towels and a stocked bathroom, that make the difference. And the breakfast? Honestly, one of the best hotel spreads I’ve had in a while. If you’re looking for a place in Carlsbad that’s not just about a room, but about feeling welcome and relaxed, this is the spot. I’ll definitely be back next time I’m in town. Thanks to the whole team at Fairfield Inn – I'll be back soon, and often!

The hotel was okay for a one-night stay. It’s located near a main road, which made it easy to find, though a bit noisy at times. The room was clean and the mattress was firm. The shower worked well and there was hot water at all times. Breakfast was included — simple and fresh. Staff were professional and handled everything quickly. It's a decent stop for travelers in transit, but nothing particularly special.

Unfortunately, my stay here made me physically sick. When we first checked in, there was a strange smell in the room, but we didn’t want to complain right away. We tried to work around it — we opened the windows and even left the front door open for a bit to air it out, which helped temporarily. At first, we just dismissed the smell. But after being in the room for a few hours — maybe about four — I started experiencing chest pain and nausea. I had to keep stepping outside just to feel better. We weren’t sure if it was coming from the carpet, cleaning products, or strong air fresheners, but whatever it was, it started affecting me physically. I mentioned it to the manager and explained the situation, but instead of showing care or understanding, she refused to offer a refund. She kept saying we should’ve told them ahead of time that I had fragrance sensitivities — but the truth is, I didn’t even know I’d react like that until I stayed in that specific room. We tried everything before asking for help, but it felt like they were more interested in shifting blame than truly helping a guest who was in distress. If you have any sensitivities , or just expect a basic level of care when things go wrong , I’d think twice before staying here.
Lee J — Google review
We stayed at the Fairfield in Carlsbad for 4 nights with our family of 6, booking 2 rooms. Unfortunately, our rooms (339 and 341) had a persistent smell issue from day 1, likely due to a plumbing or sewage problem. The front desk manager was helpful and offered to move us to new rooms, but since having adjacent rooms was crucial for our family, we decided to stick with the original rooms. The rooms were just okay, but the smell issue was a major problem. If you're planning to stay here, try to avoid rooms 339 and 341. With some improvements in maintenance, this hotel could be a great option.

Spanning over 7,000 yards, the layout showcases beautifully sculpted landscapes adorned with native wildflowers, along with challenging bunker and water elements.
My stay at this hotel was truly luxurious. The room was spacious, with a king-size bed and a large bathroom featuring a rain shower and separate bathtub. The hotel boasts a beautiful indoor pool and a state-of-the-art fitness center. The spa offered excellent treatments, including massages and facials. The staff were professional and friendly, providing impeccable service from check-in to check-out. Dining at the on-site restaurant was a highlight, with exquisite dishes and an extensive wine list.

Just finished playing here and I will tell you the design of the course is fantastic. A lot of rememberable holes, flowers planted in the perfect spots, cool water falls as well. The course is challenging but fair. The conditions of the course were pretty bad. Greens were very nice but fairways were horrible. A lot of time you were hitting off dirt. We paid close to $350 a person and expected much more at that price point. If they can fix up the fairways I would recommend this course but at that current conditions I would not recommend paying what we paid.
Nick S — Google review
Beautiful course, challenging holes. But, if you don't like slow play, then this is not the course for you. There were 4 groups stacked up on the tee, and the "player assistant" wouldn't do anything about the slow group. He actually said "You're just playing faster than them". No, they are playing slower than everyone!

What an amazing course, I could say this is a very well taken course with amazing scenery and landscape. The only hole that needs some attention number 17. Besides that the staff was very attentive, and a great experience with challenging course.

I was here for a corporate retreat and played the course in a scramble and used the practice facilities on a separate day. The resort itself was great. The golf course was pretty disappointing if I am being candid. The greens were great, very challenging and in good if not great shape. The fairways were shockingly bad, in all fairness maybe its a seasonal thing but I would think southern CA like my home state of FL would maintain good conditions year round. Lots of invasive grass and weeds and a plethora of bald spots. Very hard to imagine an LPGA event being played here. I think the course would be a gem if in better shape, few weird holes but I don't mind that typically. Resort course layout makes it a course that is fun for all skill levels. Hope they recent punching of fairways helps fix the issues because if I had to pay north of $300 I would be very upset with the quality of the course.

We had to leave a Hilton last minute due to a dirty toilet and their refusal to fix the issue. We found this property close enough by and were lucky enough to be able to book for two nights. The lady who answered the phone was so kind and also greeted us warmly when we arrived. The experience was night & day. From the moment we arrived, we received a warm fretting, friendly and quick check in and phenomenal service whenever we asked anything. The buffet breakfast was 5-star level and I’m not exaggerating! I booked this hotel because of its location, and it didn’t disappoint in that regard. It’s close to several restaurants and tourist sites. The room wasn’t fancy but had the essentials: clean bed, desk, and closet. Bathroom was average, but it had good water pressure. Breakfast was basic — toast, boiled eggs, and instant coffee. Staff didn’t interact much unless approached. All in all, it’s what I expected for the price.

The staff were very friendly, and the hotel was located in a quiet and safe area. The air was so fresh, and I especially loved that it was only 8 minutes away from Legoland!

We were relocated from our apartment because of mold and stayed here for a month. With all the stress we were under, it was such a relief to have a nice, clean, safe place to call “Hotel Home”, or as we lovingly referred to it as, “the HoHo” for short. We loved this place! The staff, from the front desk to housekeeping, to maintenance and of course the breakfast staff, were so warm and friendly. Breakfast was awesome and the DIY Belgium waffle maker was the highlight of our mornings. We had a two bedroom suite and it was just right. The fireplace made it cozy. Housekeeping seriously works so hard and does such an amazing job. We had to move to a different Marriott location because our apartment wasn’t ready, and sadly, the Carlsbad location was booked and didn’t have any 2 bedrooms left, and believe me when I tell you, Carlsbad Residence Inn outshines the other place, by far. They go above and beyond in customer service and all deserve a raise for the great work they do.

This hotel offers a fantastic balance between luxury and convenience. Located just steps from the city center, it was easy to explore local attractions on foot. The rooms were modern and stylish, with all the amenities expected from a high-end hotel, including a coffee maker, minibar, and high-speed Wi-Fi. The bed was incredibly comfortable, and blackout curtains ensured restful sleep. I particularly enjoyed the rooftop lounge bar with panoramic views, where I spent several relaxing evenings. The hotel also offers a well-equipped fitness center and spa services.

Extended stay hotel
The Home2 Suites by Hilton Carlsbad is a great place to stay while in Carlsbad. It features a fitness centre and free WiFi throughout the property. The location is excellent for visiting Legoland California and the hotel offers 24-hour front desk service and room service.
Very welcoming home away from home hotel. Rooms are spacious with kitchen. Partition between king bed and sofa bed is a nice touch. Heated pool and hot tub. Fire pit. Comfortable seating everywhere. Love this place, easily one of my favorites!

Stayed here with my partner for a short getaway. The room had a small balcony, which was a nice touch. Cleanliness was good, and we had fresh towels each day. The bed was okay, not too soft or hard. Breakfast was limited but had fresh fruit and pastries. The hotel itself isn’t very modern, but it was quiet and safe. Staff spoke English and were helpful. For a quick stay, it did the job.
Amilcar T — Google review
Nice hotel, good condition with a nice gym. Rooms were spacious, but watch out for room 334 if you're a light sleeper because the air conditioning equipment on the roof above it will hum loudly. Weekend breakfast scene was a crazy, they ran out of many items an hour before the service ended. The staff did their best but they should add another person to keep items stocked and the eating area clean. Was disappointed they wouldn't give me an extra hour at checkout even though I stayed four nights.

We love staying in Home2Suites when we travel. The Carlsbad location was great. It's clean from the lobby to our rooms. We didn't hear any outside noise. There was some heavy feet staying above us though. This is a great stay for families or couples. The large room and kitchenette make an extended stay very comfortable.
Christa R — Google review
Our room king suite. Have kitchenette with sink, dishwasher, utensils etc, open storage for your things and big fridge. Bed was decent for comfort, pillows were little lumpy but ok. Room was big. Closet has curtain and own light. Shade for window has button control. Bathroom was big. Water pressure great. Overall pretty clean. There's a curtain between bed and couch area! Wish was thicker, but good idea! Pool area nice lounge very nice. Good breakfast too. Shout out to the ladies working keeping everything stocked n clean! Lounge bathroom very clean. We would stay again!

My wife and I are Hilton Diamond members. We spend the year traveling over 37,000 miles and primarily stay at Hilton hotels. Overall, this hotel was nice. It was clean. Everyone was extremely friendly. However the bed was one of the worst we have slept on in the past nine years of traveling for our business. We both woke up with sore backs every morning. It got so bad that, after the third night, my back went out when loading something in the car. I’m an athletic 50 year old from Colorado. My back doesn’t go out. I spent that whole day laid up, barely able to stand. I spent the fourth night sleeping on the floor. I just finished the two day drive home to Colorado in pain and discomfort. Not a very fun drive. Like the hotel. Hate the bed.
Ian L — Google review
The rooms were actually very clean and perfect for us. We were a traveling soccer team that needed a place for everyone to stay in the kitchen’s were a huge bonus. We also used the barbecue area by the pool.. front desk staff was very nice and friendly and the complimentary breakfast was great for the kids. I really loved the coffee and water station was available to us 24/7 and we used that quite a bit! The spa needs to be cleaned it looked very dirty however the kids enjoyed it!! Also there were several washer and dryers broken and it was really hard to use them based on so many guests wanting laundry and not enough machines
Megan O — Google review
It would have been nice if there wasn't medium wavy black dog hair all over and in the toilet, tub and bathroom surfaces! It makes it feel extra dirty like they skipped cleaning the bathroom and only peeked to restock the toiletries.

The Best Western Carlsbad By The Sea offers guests a relaxed stay with an outdoor pool and spa tub. The business center and free WiFi make it easy to get work done, while full breakfast and free self parking are just some of the perks you'll enjoy.
Excellent experience. Stayed in a 2 bedroom suite the had one king bed and two double be, as well as a kitchen, 2 bathrooms, and living room area. The beds were completely comfortable. No noise being next to the high way. We stayed right by the pool. The breakfast was great. Customer service was great. Overall, an excellent experience if you want to visit nearby beaches and legoland and have a spacious place to rest.
Rajdeep R — Google review
Let's start with the pros: Noisy but expected with highway Good location, safe Clean Pool ok Staff was helpful The soap/lotion/shampoo/conditioner were nice. Now the cons: HORRIBLE and I mean HORRIBLE mildew/musty smell. My whole family coughed all night the first night. The second night we turned off the AC unit, which we think was the main cause and kept the window open. A lot less coughing but noisy. If you're sensitive to smells or have lung problems, you shouldn't stay here. We switched rooms with no change in the smell. The hot tub bleached my son's swim shoes. So glad he didn't get in fully. I put my feet in and my skin burned instantly. The pool didn't do that, but it was chilly. Very limited towels. I thought the room wasn't cleaned and the staff said there was 2 sets but we needed 3. I guess I have been spoiled with having extra towels. Also, no shower mat. Had to use one of my precious towels so we wouldn't slip. The body wash holder did not have a bottle in it. I was told they don't have any more body wash and we were given given bars. When we changed rooms, the new room had body soap. The smoker detector light is very bright, lights up room up the whole room. Kinda annoying. No way to darker it. Recommend a sleep mask if you're sensitive. Bathroom light automatically turns on fan, so no way to be quiet when using the bathroom. The carpet always felt damp, so I wouldn't take off my sandales. Needs maintenance- peeling paint, loose light fixtures, peeling stucco, cracked ceiling. Our windows screen wasn't only ripped but the frame was bent and broken. Tv remote was broken. You couldn't adjust the volume. Breakfast is more of a continental styles with only powdered eggs and potatoes. Room size was smaller than expected. We travel a lot. I've been to hotels in jungles that didn't smell this bad. My husband is a diamond member. This hotel will definitely be crossed off our list for the future. It seems like an owner problem, since the staff were very accommodating. They must get complaints regularly.
Kim L — Google review
The room smelled musty and moldy, like a wet dog. They turned the AC down to 60 so when you enter the room for the first time it isn't as noticeable, which tells me they are aware of the issue. Once you are there for a while with the AC at a normal level 72-74, it's quite noticeable. The lighting in the room is awful, no lamps at all, just harsh overhead lights. The plastic couch is ridiculous. The electric outlets didn't work on one side of the beds by the night stand. 2 towels in the room for 4 guests. We had to keep asking for towels. The breakfasts are terrible. No sausage, bacon or ham, no waffle maker, etc. Just instant eggs and cheap potatoes. I was highly disappointed for the price we paid for 4 nights. I recommend you stay somewhere else.
Todd C — Google review
Room smelled like a mixture of bleach, tobacco and marijuana. Sofa was hard as a rock plus makes you sit perfectly vertical. The kitchen is typical, but there’s no cookware, dinnerware, or utensils deeming the kitchen useless. The bed is also hard as a rock, and the pillows are pancakes. I woke up after 4 hours of sleep with back pain. The doors don’t shut properly, and the bath fan is super loud. I originally booked 4 nights but checked out after 1. Never again will I go to this hotel.
Ron G — Google review
pleasantly surprised! The room was more like a full one-bedroom apartment — spacious, clean, and super comfortable. The pool and hot tub were both well-maintained and relaxing — a great way to unwind. The only downside is that the hotel is located right next to the highway, so it can get a bit loud when you open the door. Still, it’s a great value for the price and definitely worth the stay overall
John W — Google review
This hotel is hit and miss. Our first room smelled so badly of mold/mildew that it was making me feel sick. We have a baby so this made me very concerned. Also the room was on the freeway side and the rooms are about 100 ft from the first lane with no sound barriers so it's EXTREMELY loud. The room felt neglected and needed repairs. After 3 nights more rooms opened up and we were able to move. The new room was 100x better. Clean smell, newer air conditioner, nothing broken, night and day difference. The daytime staff were nice and very willing to move us, however we told the nighttime staff on the first night of the issue and was promised to move us the next day which didn't happen. Breakfast is limited and yesterday they were out of many things. Hash browns were undercooked. No meat options. NO COMPENSATION WAS OFFERED for all the issues. I probably would NOT recommend staying here due to these issues. ***after speaking directly with hotel manager on our last day he was very nice and willing to take 50% off 1 of our nights.
Freddie L — Google review
Our stay was disappointing. The room had a strong smell of mold and the floors were not very clean. To make things worse, housekeeping started knocking on our door at 9:00 AM even though checkout wasn’t until 11:00. Despite telling her multiple times that we were fine, she continued until 9:15, and I finally had to open the door and politely tell her to leave. Overall, I would not recommend this hotel and will not be returning.
Nerissa Z — Google review
After reading some reviews, we were cautious about staying here, but now I feel like those were about a different hotel. The room was clean with not even a hint of any issues. Not a mosquito to be seen (or felt). The bed was comfortable, and the shower had good pressure. While we didn't eat breakfast (not breakfast people), we really appreciated the outdoor tables as we brought dinner with us. I truly cannot think of a negative, and I would not hesitate to stay here again.

The Hyland Inn Near LegoLand is a convenient location for those staying in the greater Los Angeles area. The rooms come with refrigerators and microwaves, and many have TVs with cable to keep you entertained.
So me and my boyfriend were hoping for a romantic getaway, not a scamming hotel. We had showered, and everybody knows what exfoliating is right? Well we use washcloths to exfoliate and we use the washcloth in the hotel to exfoliate our skin, which is what they’re for. That’s why they put them by the tub. They’re trying to charge us $25 for towels when towels cost 10 bucks at Walmart saying we ruined towels when we’ve also washed dirty towels on that and they’ve been cleaner in a regular washer so the question is why are u illegally taking money from us the shower didn’t even work The dude at the office was asking to switch rooms. He told us we had to stay in the same room and he told us he would let us shower in a dirty room is that professional is that California standards because if so, I’m disappointed. Also when is it okay to let people drink, piss, and throw up in a designated smoking area. Having drunk people drive off the property and almost hitting other people’s cars as they drive off. Is this the type of attention and professionalism you want Hyland? Obviously it is if you don’t have the respect for the people who actually respect the rules. If a manager sees this I would love to talk and figure out a way so these type of scams don’t happen and so the people staying at the hotel feel safe because we sure didn’t.
Alexandra — Google review
My husband and I checked in for a romantic weekend. When we got in the room there is 1 towel and one coffee cup. When I asked the guy at the front desk he looked at me like I was stupid. Then was like I'll check if we have any towels 🤦🏼‍♀️ What kind of hotel does that? I do not recommend this place pay extra money and get a real hotel like we thought we were getting. Instead they post every reason to keep your money and charge extra and threaten to kick you off the property. This is the worse place ever!!!!
Angel P — Google review
Upon arriving, our window was open… the screen was ripped. There was a horrible smell walking in. The photos definitely make it look better than it is. Went to get a drink and there was only one cup, and the cup was clearly used with coffee on the top. Tried to give my son a bath, there is no way for a bath. No plug for the drain, no pull. The door has no lock on it. The fridge looked horrible on the outside. Bed makes your back hurt. Ants in the bathroom. We had the do not disturb sign on our door for one day. We needed new towels so my boyfriend went and brought them our old towels and asked the ladies if we could get new towels (they were in the laundry room) The one lady told him no, no service. Um… okay? The other lady came and brought us 2 new towels hours later, because the First Lady was mad. So we took our DND sign off the door so they could come and clean it and they didn’t come in for the entire two days we were there. We ran out of toilet paper and thought they would come do the room while we were gone but didn’t. We were nervous to even ask for toilet paper. Price was great, but you get what you pay for. Parking is weird. Super close to beach and restaurants.
Chelsey P — Google review
Cockroaches, no A/C, and horrible customer service. This stay was absolutely awful! Went on a family trip, we booked 4 rooms. Waste of money the front desk smirked and shrugged shoulders about the roaches in all our rooms. When we came back from Legoland the cleaners turned off all our A/C units. With toddlers the room took over an hour to finally cool down. When I placed a complaint my travel agency reached out and they provided incorrect information confusing me with another guest. Obviously this means this hotel needs help. I would never recommend this place.
Daniel L — Google review
The best part of the rooms is the mirror. Expect ants bed bugs and all the above. Don’t expect anything more than $70/$100 a night in the garbage suburbs of California can get you. Also make sure you are 50ft from the premises if you have visitors.
Miranda R — Google review
Oh man, I feel like I got pranked. This is supposed to be a nice hotel, more like a motel in disguise. Nowhere near Legoland. No channels to watch, beds are saggy and sheets are stained. They left four squares of toilet paper on the roll they left on the room. I feel like I’m gonna fall through the floors. Floors have gunk on them and have divots under the dirty lament floorings. Even the lobby chairs had upholstery hanging from the bottom. The windows are fogged and you can barely see out of them. I love to write amazing reviews but I can’t think of one good thing about this spot. Okay it’s close to Walmart… that’s it. This place makes me wanna cry. They charge you a hundred dollar deposit. There’s not one thing in the room worth that. The A/C unit is so loud and smells like there’s an Indian Restaurant below us. Please do not stay here. I’m going through this bad experience for you. Trust me, stay at a Motel 6, at least it has standards. No breakfast either.
Chaz C — Google review
Absolutely disgusting and disappointing. Someone else's hair stands were in one or the beds which shows the sheets are not washed after each stay. The mattress cover is straight plastic and so uncomfortable. I woke up with MULTIPLE BUG BITES and my hair was itchy the entire next day despite multiple showers. The staff is close to uselss as I had to beg for my receipt and call 3 times before receiving it. You get what you pay for as they say.
Kimberly F — Google review
Room good, but roomservice not very carefull. The room had only one towel, no toilet paper and the floor was not clean. Hair and dust on it. A lot of ants around the sink. Highway is very close and can be loud

ALWAYS A GREAT TIME HERE. Makes birthdays and gatherings that much easier. Each slot has chairs, 2 tables, trash bin, grill, non motorized rentals, motorized rentals, canopy.. life vests, gift shop. Different spots available on the deck, infront of the water, private little houses. Great Staff, very friendly and helpful. Everytime we come here our family and friends have a blast. Great memories for our kids and friends. Definitely recommend.

Excellent place! Highly recommended! We are here celebrating our daughter’s birthday and loved so much! This is a legit business and has good business model. We loved the value that they charge per equipment, NOT per person. They place customer first as priority before the $$$ sign. They honor other website’s price to make it reasonable and also to just make sure customers have fun. People here are super nice and helpful. Thank you Carlsbad Lagoon! We will recommend your business to people that we know!

Beautiful place to go paddle boarding. The paddle boards were easy to get up on and even had a back rest if you like sitting on them. Staff is helpful and kind. You can also rent kayaks, jet skis, swan peddle boats, and boats. Life jackets are offered. Great place to take the kids or come with friends or your partner. Saw lots of cranes, fish, and even two wild coyotes while out paddle boarding.

A great getaway from the beach crowd! Ever seen a mad person on a waverunner? Me neither. This isa great spot to enjoy your water sports (Kayak, SUP, waverunner, etc.) Great team and good environment, they focus on safety but also on having fun - overall this is a great place to have fun and avoid an overcrowded beach. Check it out! Its worth it if you have never done it, knock it off that bucket list!

Water sports rental facility was well staffed with knowledgeable and friendly employees. For someone not experienced with driving boats, the rental orientation made me feel safe and prepared for my excursion on the lagoon. Our two hour session on the Runabout was fantastic and made for the perfect family picnic on the lagoon. Restrooms were clean and there was plenty of parking on our arrival. Gift shop had plenty of sunscreen, hats, snacks, and products for waterproofing phones and things like cash and cards. Overall we had an enjoyable experience and would definitely come back on our next trip to Carlsbad.

This place is rad. I drone here frequently. Super serene. Great views and landscapes. Good place to go and just veg. If you like a quiet place to meditate and just get lost in your head, this is the place for you. Local animal life is here too. Great place for photography and art lovers alike. Put this place on your agenda. You won't regret it. I promise. This is a good place for you too if you're a hiker. What's nice about Agua Hedionda, is the hike isn't that strenuous. So you're able to take, say for instance, your mom or grandpa. So it makes it a great place to hike with someone who perhaps doesn't get to hike much, because most hikes are just too hard for them. I bring my mom here all the time. It's scenic and beautiful. Right on the coast. Short hike with the fam. All around awesome place to be.

Lovely place to walk with multiple paths such as Hubbs Trail providing access to the Agua Hedionda Lagoon. Thanks to the hard work of the community and the stewards of the Agua Hedionda Lagoon Foundation, trails are well-tended and safe. Well worth a visit, along with the Agua Hedionda Lagoon Foundation Discovery Center (at Cannon Rd and Faraday in Carlsbad on the east edge of the Lagoon) where visitors can learn about the ecosystem of this beautiful place. Enjoy views and sunsets galore, but please pack out any trash 🚮

Kayaking out toward the little channels on Agua Hedionda Lagoon is always a breathtaking experience, and worth the effort for the solitude. You can rent SUPs or water toy of your choice to ride out, then hop ashore to explore all this precious ecological resource has to offer. Just be sure to stay on the sand, and leave no trace :)
