Cadbury World is a popular family attraction located in Birmingham's southern district of Bournville. It offers a self-guided exhibition tour showcasing the origins of chocolate and the history of Cadbury, the UK's favorite chocolatier. Visitors can explore interactive displays about chocolate-making and learn about Cadbury's legacy as the country's first established chocolate manufacturer. The tour includes attractions such as magical Cadabra rides, a 4D Chocolate Adventure zone, and free chocolate samples for all guests.
An amazing experience at Cadbury World with my family. It was way beyond my expectations, with the price paid, you get free chocolate bars, walked through the chocolate making tour, history of Cadbury, free freshly made chocolate with toppings, 4D cinema, hands-on chocolate tempering, interactive ride and outdoor playground, superb for kids in primary school. Two hours nicely spent and the kids thoroughly enjoyed it. Would recommend and would return again in future! It was a pleasant experience. The price might seem a bit pricey but at the end you will think it is worthwhile for the experience offered.

Lovely experience. It was a wonderful time, spent around 2 hrs. The best part was the 4D movie which was just wow. And then the avenue was the good experince. If could show more about how chocolates are made nowadays then it would be more interesting. I have seen cadbury making process in a different country and that was more into the process making, so thats what a gap was I feel... rest everything was an amazing experience. It was my best birthday present.
Vignesh K — Google review
Its not a very big place, but informative and there were things to do. We also got a taster cup of chocolate, it was nice. Saw a demo about how the chocolate was made. Unfortunately when we went the rides were not working and my child was so disappointed! The ticket was not cheap, so all the rides should work properly!
Stefani W — Google review
Terrible place to visit, definitely not worth £52 for 1 hour and 20 mins after traveling for over 2 and a half hours. Press and play features not working, other functions not working. Interactive machines not working and one that was working went into error mode when we tried to use it. Nothing for adults and it is more themed for children under the age of 8. The 4D attraction was not good at all unless your of a toddler age, motion seats just move a little and vibrate and the other motion seats in the other video tour slightly move from left to right and was over in 5 minutes. Staff at each station do not explain what to do and what you can do at the chocolate making feature which you don't actually make any chocolate or decorate anything, instead they just say the initial hello and tell you to start and then talk amongst each other in front of you about their personal life's. Booking online isn't any quicker as they have a zigzag queue line for any prepaid visitors. The price of a ticket for an adult ticket is the same price for a child under 15 and the whole experience is far from value for money, it is not something you want to plan as a day out. There is lots of places marked on the map as no visitor access also, and when it came to an abrupt finish ending up in the gift shop to spend more money, we where not told if there was anything else to go to or see and nobody creating us at the door or giving us wishes on our way. Parking is free and about good thing as the whole place appears run down, washed out and offers little to do for the whole family. It is more like walking around a mirco museum with a family playground and cafe.
Dave H — Google review
Would be better if you had kids. Overall nice experience if you’ve never been, lots of history and memorabilia but other than that just cinema screens showing animations that you have to que for every section. ‘Free’ chocolates are less than they use to be which used to be the best part. Lots of opportunities to upsell photos, rides, drinks, food, gifts.
Sasha W — Google review
It was heart warming to know the history of Mr. Cadbury, his struggles and triumph. Their design and way of story telling is awesome. Kids will enjoy the rides and play area. There is some for adults too. Don't forget to buy chocolates at a discounted price at their shop.
S H — Google review
I visited Cadbury world in Birmingham on a weekday as I predicted this to be a little quieter than a weekend which it was. I managed to get a few snaps of the factory as you take a trip an a good history lesson of the beginnings all the way to present day. I like the tour and I think it’s pretty cool, especially seeing the chocolate makers on the ground floor making the chocolate fresh and shaping these for souvenirs to buy or for special events coming up. The gift shop is also pretty cool and worth a visit, having some cool novelties you can buy and take home with you. HOWEVER, for being a chocolate tour, the ride was not working when I was there, which was disappointing. Also, you only get 2 free bars of chocolate included in your tour visit, which is a little ridiculous considering that you pay a decent price to go.
Did T — Google review
A place that offers information, fun filled activities and entertainment. Booking tickets in advance is must. It will save you a trip and money. Arrive by about your time of entry, they let people queue and enter in batches. The tour begins with a historic display of cocoa production and evolution of chocolate while it travelled across the world. Then the first chocolate shop and birth of Cadbury, some stories of the family and how they ventured into this business. Followed by the making of chocolate, staffs demonstrating the process and later you get to do it by yourself. Inside they also sell some crazy structures of chocolate. Then you get entertained by 4D movie, dwelling into the world of characters Cadbury has introduced. Followed by a nice exhibit narrating the story of Bournville village and a fun filled ride where you collect the ingredients (virtually) to make your own chocolate. If you may have forgotten to collect something, don't worry you can buy them from their store that has EVERYTHING CHOCOLATE!!! A one of its kind place to engage all age groups. You get some free chocolates on entry and can buy more at exit. There is a cafe inside this building. Parking available. Cloak room is only for large luggage bags. Enough numbers of toilets available in intervals throughout the tour.

The Black Country Living Museum offers a fascinating journey back in time to the 19th and 20th centuries, set across 26 acres of meticulously recreated historic buildings from the Black Country. Visitors can explore over fifty authentic shops, houses, and workshops that capture the essence of this industrial region. The museum features a canalside village where costumed characters bring history to life, while attractions such as an underground mine, tram rides, and canal trips provide immersive experiences.
Great museum, a lovely day out! A very interactive experience, staff are very good. So many things to see and do. The fish and chips are well worth a try, and the pub on site is just amazing to sit in! Have visited multiple times and will be going back again! Especially considering it's 12 months free return! Great value for money, and a great day out, fun for all the family

Almost 5 stars but this was our first visit & entering the carpark we had no idea or signs to say which way to the entrance or instructions to pay for the carpark. It wasn't very busy today but we thoroughly enjoyed our time spending over 4 hrs. The staff were delightful & oh so helpful. Fish & Chips were utterly delicious, best I've had in a long long time. The houses & shops were wonderful, bringing back so many memories. All in all a truly wonderful day, thank you.
Barbara H — Google review
Such an amazing experience. The museum and what it offers is phenomenal and the staff and volunteers are so engaging. The way they have set this up is exemplary and we learned so much from the people there and the exhibits. The forging and Army and Navy store were two of our favourites as well as the canal and chain shop area. A must see if you are here, a short train ride from Birmingham New Street to Tipton and it's about a 15 minute walk to the museum. Excellent day.

Well worth a visit. Great family day out. We have two boys 7 and 11. They engaged really well. The fun fair cost more but parents of little ones went on free and they were great. Staff were super 👌. The fish and chips were amazing much better than we get these days and cheaper. The demonstrations were informative and entertaining. Definitely go down the mine but watch your head! The gift shop was reasonably priced.

Really enjoyed it and here. Took my 8 year old. Lovely to walk around and really takes you back. Even I remember houses like these when I was alot younger. The boat rides do have an additional cost. There is alot to see and do. Although they do have some eateries we didn't bother. I think I'd have preferred a packed lunch regardless. Definitely recommend a visit here!

Open air museum, this is more like a small, Industrial Revolution, town with plenty to see and do. Very good parking facilities with plenty of disabled space as well as spaces for families, especially those with younger children giving easy access to site. A quick 2 minute walk from the car park to the main entrance where you are greeted into a large atrium in a modern building with a comprehensive gift shop to the right on entry. To the left there is an eatery serving up hot and cold food, and the usual coffees/teas and soft drinks etc. Exiting the main entrance the is a world of history in front of you starting with a tour of the mines. Sadly even early In the morning 10:30 (30 mins after opening) there was a long queue however this was accessible during the day. Old buildings galore, presented in various period decor all accessible to view both upstairs and down as well as black smiths, foundries, smelting, brick production, the list goes on. Heritage building with cars and bikes for viewing. The museum also runs a bus service with busses from 1940’s. They operate an early funfair with several period rides including ghost train, carousel and penny slot machines, well worth a ride. To the rear of the museum there is a modern building dedicated to the canal trust and preservation with the ability to take passenger on a boat ride through the caves where they mined line stone. Several found outlets in the various building, accessible toilet throughout the site, actors on site who interact with the public. All in all a fantastic day out FYI, I travelled from Essex the morning of the visit. Worth every penny.

What an amazing day we had at the Black Country living museum. We got there about 10am and stayed about 5 hours . So much to see and do. The staff was very friendly and helpful and willing to answer any questions. The fish and chips was amazing . Had one or a few beers in various locations. Then we went back for peaky blinders night . What a great time that was. Music and attractions all over the museum. Can’t wait to go back for a 40s or 60s night next year.
Antony S — Google review
Absolutely incredible experience, we do come quite often due to being in the midlands but the new updates are fantastic and there is so so much to do. I actually don’t think the museum is open long enough to do everything they now have on offer. Not to worry you are able to return as many times as you like within a year with those tickets! Incredible! Such a good time had by all!

The Birmingham Botanical Gardens is a 15-acre site featuring exotic flora housed in elegant Victorian glass houses, along with a Bonsai garden and bird collection. The surrounding area offers nature lovers a variety of famous parks to explore, including the Birmingham Nature Centre, Cannon Hill Park, and more. Additionally, visitors can enjoy the vibrant nightlife concentrated along Broad Street and in Brindley place.
£9 entry for adults + £3 per car might seem steep but is 100% worth it for these beautiful gardens. With about 15 acres to explore you could easily spend 3-4hrs here! Perfect for a nice relaxed afternoon if you go during the week, I imagine it's quite a bit busier on the weekends and school holidays. Be aware that the hot-houses are very hot and humid! Probably 30-35? so if you go in the colder months make sure you can remove some layers easily. The grounds are broadly wheelchair accessible, with sloping ramps. Although if possible take someone who is able to open doors as one door in the cacti room to an accessible ramp does get stuck and some slopes (while gentle for those walking) could be a little steep for a manual chair. Plenty of benches around, some in the sun and some in the shade as well as a large gazebo-like structure near the rose garden you could duck into if it rains. Perfect for kiddos, if you park yourself in the cafe with a view to the hothouse door you can safely send them off on their own to run around for hours. There is a plat area as well if that's more their thing than running through bushes. Love the little shop, lots of gardening bits as well as cards, pottery and artwork all priced fairly high as you would expect for any garden centre/ public attraction. The cafe seems well enough, again watch out for your wallet as the cakes on display look delicious!
R D — Google review
The botanical garden tour was indeed a captivating experience, offering a glimpse into the beauty of diverse plant life. The carefully curated landscapes and vibrant flowers created a truly enchanting atmosphere. It was a pity that the allotted time did not allow for a more extensive exploration of all the garden's wonders. Perhaps another visit is in order to fully appreciate its splendor.
Zahir R — Google review
Came here with my partner. Pretty easy to book, can do so online. £3 per car parking - would advise not to go at a busy time as the car park will be full. Lovely day out full of various plants and trees. Most of the outdoor plants are British origin with others being housed indoors. Managed to get around in an hour and a half, seeing all of the plants we wanted to see. As per usual, snacks and drinks are a bit costly £1.50 for a can. Overall, would recommend

Hidden treasure!! My first time!! Has to be seen to believe!!The staff wore smiles, friendly & ready to help. The diversity of the plants, the japanese gardens, the water features, tidiness of the place, wonderful trees & pretty roses, incredible hidden corners of solitude & the wonderful cafe staff ‘amazing bakery’. Incredible value for money 10/10.

Weekend in Birmingham kicked off with a visit to this beautiful place. Four people, two members and two concessions. Great Japanese section. Beautifully kept grounds. Good indoor and outside spaces. Child friendly. Disabled friendly. Loads of parking. Walkable from town centre. Good toilets. Nice cafe. Great way to spend a couple of hours 😁 Recommended 😁🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

Always a pleasure to visit, the hard work of all the team is paying off! Autumn colours are a delight, especially with the sunshine! Worth mentioning that this Botanic Garden is a fully independent charity: 9£ entry is in line with similar organisations (if not cheaper) and all the tickets and donations help keeping this unique Brummie gem open and well kept!

I just love this place. Love the gift shop, the cafe, the botanicals especially the tropical plants section and their carnivorous plants bit as well and the Japanese garden. The outdoor seating is a breath of fresh air and there is plenty of green grass for picnics.

Lots of plants to discover and various type of trees and flowers as well. Plenty of benches around to sit, some in the sun and some in the shade. Quiet and Peaceful tranquility. About £9 entry for adults (slightly high if you pay donation) & minimum £3 parking fee.

The National SEA LIFE Centre Birmingham offers a family-friendly experience with a diverse range of sea creatures. It's an ideal destination for kids' days out in the West Midlands, featuring play areas and group packages. Surrounding attractions include parks like Birmingham Botanical Gardens & Glasshouses, Cannon Hill Park, and more. Additionally, visitors can enjoy famous events and vibrant nightlife in the area.
Great aquarium! They have penguins and otters among lots of other sea creatures. The entire set up was very different from most aquariums. It was kind of like walking around a mountainous island. Quite interesting. Unfortunately, we paid the full price since we didn't know that it was cheaper to buy the tickets in advance.
Andrew F — Google review
There is a helpful little tip for visiting - in the corner of the gift shop there is a lift back up to the toilets. These are back at the beginning of exhibition so you can head round again to pick up any bits you missed! It is a great half day out with the kids. The centre feels like it could do with some updating and refresh on some of the side activities but the exhibits are all great, and the feeding / talk times flow quite well through your visit. The staff are all super friendly and helpful, our daughters especially loved the roaming pirate!
AndyHasBeenTaken — Google review
It was am awesome experience! I'll be honest when I first went in, I thought it was quite small, however it is extended at the back so it was indeed quite spacious. Easily took us 2-3 hours to explore the entire place at a slow pace with a 5 month old. The penguins were adorable at the start, the amount of fish in each aquarium space was quite adequate. I did wish we could see the otters though, only managed to catch s tiny glimpse in the room at the far back. The area with the jellyfish was so mesmerising. There were different photography stations located at multiple areas. You could take photos at each station, and at the end you could choose which pictures you'd like to buy and what package. Overall there was a lot of cleanliness, tanks were clean, the walkways were clean too. We ended up going at a busy weekend, but still could easily manage to get around with a baby pram. There was however a pram parking area, if you will, to store the prams if you'd rather do that. Definitely worth a trip.

Had a lovely visit here on Saturday, wasn't too busy and no wait to go inside. We booked it in the morning through our Merlin passes and there was plenty of admission availability. So many things to see if you take your time, but it's easier said than done. Lot's of talks going on throughout the day, we really wanted to watch one of them but there was too much pushing and shoving from other adults and didn't want my child getting trampled on. Some better crowd control would be ideal at the talks/feeding times. Nice gift shop at the end with plenty of stock and very lovely staff.
Adele J — Google review
Visited on a Saturday with pre-booked tickets and went straight in. It was as busy as you would expect on a weekend. Theres a route to follow and as long as you are patient in certain places you can see everything (unless creatures are hiding) There are some additional options like photos taken and a VR experience included in the admission charge. There is quite a bit to see and different areas. There are toilets at the start and halfway through, there is a shop at the end but no cafe. It takes around 60-90 mins to go round but we didnt do any photos or VR. It does look a bit tired and dated in places and the enclosures look a bit on the smaller side especially for the Penquins and Sea Otters. We used Tescos Clubcard vouchers to pay but our tickets would have been £55.00 which is steep for what you get but, if you used all the things offered it might seem better value for money

National SEA LIFE Centre Birmingham: A Submerged City Escape The National SEA LIFE Centre in Birmingham offers an engaging and surprisingly intimate exploration of the underwater world, making it a perfect family outing in the city centre. While its footprint is smaller than some coastal aquariums, it packs a real punch, particularly with its signature attraction: the UK's only 360-degree Ocean Tunnel. Walking through this clear acrylic tunnel is genuinely jaw-dropping, providing an immersive experience as sharks, rays, and the beloved giant green sea turtle, Molokai, glide directly overhead and beneath your feet. This highlight alone justifies the visit, offering incredible photographic moments and a true sense of being submerged. Beyond the ocean tunnel, key exhibits include the playful Gentoo penguins in their icy habitat and the charming sea otters, Ozzy and Ola, who reside in the Mammal Rescue Facility. Interactive elements like the rock pool, where visitors can gently touch a starfish, keep younger guests highly engaged. Other sections, like the jellyfish displays and the Clownfish Kingdom, are vibrant and well-presented. While tickets can be pricey, seeking out available discounts or utilizing combination passes with nearby attractions like LEGOLAND Discovery Centre offers better value. Allow about 90 minutes to two hours for a comfortable tour. Despite sometimes being busy, the SEA LIFE Centre remains a truly "splash hit" and a memorable journey into marine conservation and discovery.

We had a fantastic afternoon here with my daughter and grandson! It’s such a wonderful place, and we especially loved watching the feeding the sea otters, Ozzy and Ola. The gentleman narrating was so friendly and knowledgeable, answering all our questions with enthusiasm. He’s a real asset to the centre and made our visit extra special — we only wish we’d caught his name!

It's OK for young children, not a long experience for the price so would definitely plan other activities around this if you are travelling into Birmingham. Staff are very friendly and knowledgeable and the venue is clean and tidy. The immediate area, Brindley Place, is clean and well presented and has parking nearby.

The National Trust - Birmingham Back to Backs offers guided tours of four fully restored historic houses, providing a glimpse into the changing life between 1840 and 1977. These back-to-back houses were once common dwellings for Birmingham's working class during the Industrial Revolution. The museum showcases the living conditions and lifestyles of the city's 19th-century working class, making it a unique and fascinating destination for those interested in social history.
My visit to the Birmingham Back to Backs was absolutely fantastic and a truly immersive experience! I was completely captivated by the stories and history brought to life in each house. The guides were incredibly knowledgeable and passionate, making the past feel incredibly present and real. It's a truly unique and wonderfully preserved piece of Birmingham's heritage, offering a poignant glimpse into bygone eras. I left with a much deeper appreciation for the lives of those who lived there. Highly recommended for anyone wanting to step back in time and connect with history!"

Absolutely fantastic place to visit. It's a guided tour and the guide explains about each room/ house and its history. Did the full tour which involves going up some narrow spiral stairs but there are banisters and handles to help. Our guide Ross made our visit memorable. You must book. Can not recommend highly enough.

Wonderful place to go to learn a bit of recent history how our grandparents lived. And there are absolutely amazing volunteers (tour guides). Totally recommend to go but mind that you need to book for a visit in advance. The groups are small but time slots are every 20 min.

The Birmingham Back to Back houses are quite a fascinating place to visit. It is a National Trust site, so is free to members, although booking in advance is a must! Built in 1801 the guide will talk you through all of their history, from time of first occupation, up to the 1970s. The tour takes round about one and a half hours. There are many steep and narrow staircases, so not recommended for anyone who are not too steady on their feet. I was amazed at how people lived back then. So tough, and very hard work on a day to day basis. Incredible when you compare it to todays luxuries we all take for granted. Wasn't all bad though. The community spirit was strong, and something I would certainly savour now. I highly recommend this visit. Our guide John was very knowledgeable, enthusiastic and happy to answer any amount of questions. I loved it!

We visited the Back to Backs on Saturday 27 September 2025. The tour was very interesting, our guide gave the background to each of the houses that we visited, and the familes who lived in them through the different periods of time. The tour lasted 90 minutes, and was well worth the visit

This place is simply exceptional. The best National Trust we have visited, and we have visited many. The thing that made this so special was our tour guide Neil. He gave great passionate knowledgeable descriptions in every single room and made the experience come to life. I was cautious of a 90 minute tour with an eight year-old. However, the information that Neil gave kept her entertained and to be honest it felt like a 45 minute tour at most. Since visiting back to back, I have recommended this to simply everybody I know. This is obviously a sign of how much I enjoyed it, but also how much it’s surpassed all of our expectations. Well done to the National Trust team here, including all of the volunteers.

Wonderful experience going back in time at different periods of local life, our benefit was the brilliant tour guide Wayne who with his extensive knowledge and stories brought it to life. You will have to pre book the tour and check access has there are quite a few stairs to climb

Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery is located in a historic Victorian building that has been a prominent feature of the city since 1885. The museum boasts an extensive collection, including the renowned Pre-Raphaelite collection with over 2,000 remarkable pieces such as oil paintings, tapestries, stained glass, and ceramics by celebrated artists like Edward Burne-Jones and William Morris. Additionally, visitors can explore artifacts like the Staffordshire hoard.
Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery is truly a gem in the heart of the city. The building itself is stunning, blending history and architecture beautifully. Inside, the galleries are well-curated with a wonderful variety of exhibitions, from classical art to fascinating historical collections. Everything is laid out thoughtfully, making it easy to explore and enjoy at your own pace. The atmosphere is calm and inspiring, perfect for spending a few hours appreciating culture and history. The staff are welcoming and knowledgeable, always ready to guide or answer questions, which really adds to the overall experience. The building is really mislabeled. There’s one room with Art which may have 20 canvases. One of them is quite a nice place but otherwise if you’re coming for Art, you’re not going to find anything that you want. On the other hand, if you’re looking for a museum with a great coverage of the history of Birmingham, the top floor of the building has a very excellent series of exhibits on this topic. That’s not why I came here, but I did enjoy it quite a lot. If you have kids, there’s a dinosaur exhibit on the lower floor. I think it’s 9 pounds for adults and free for kids. Otherwise, the museum is free. There’s a nice coffee shop.

The museum was outstanding. Very clean, staff were very knowledgeable and friendly, and very considerate when providing assistance, especially to those with additional support needs. There's portable chairs behind the doors, a great personal touch when you're spending a few hours in there. I visited from Manchester to see the Ozzy Osbourne exhibition, the Made In Birmingham exhibition, and paid in to see Giants whilst I was there. Highly recommend and will be returning in the future. Gift shop was great, with lots of different quirky items connected to the exhibitions.

Great exhibitions. Highly recommend the Giants exhibition. Makes you reflect on how small humans are compared to these massive creatures. Lots of stairs, lifts, and seats, so very accessible. I love the 'The Elephant In The Room'. I wished it was a larger exhibition. Go as soon as it opens on the weekend. It gets very crowded. It's always best when you appreciate art when you have an unobstructed view of the piece.

Castles
Dudley Zoo and Castle offers a unique experience with its diverse collection of exotic mammals, reptiles, and a farmyard area. Visitors can also enjoy face painting while exploring the zoo grounds. The castle's history dates back to the 11th century when limestone was mined in the area for construction purposes. The ruins of Dudley Castle provide a breathtaking panoramic view from its keep, which was once used as a place of imprisonment for Mary, Queen of Scots.
Been to this zoo a few times now and have to say it has improved loads over the last few years. Loads of different animals, play areas and small rides for the kids. Most enclosures have had referbs. The only one that looks dated now Is the sealions enclosure. We always bring food as we feel the food is slightly overpriced. A great day out and the kids always want to go back.
John B — Google review
We visited this attraction for the first time and it did not disappoint. In fact, it was better than expected, with the whole family enjoying the beautiful animals and stunning gardens and castle. We were surprised how much it had to offer. Many varieties of animals, big to small, cute to scary and everything else in between! The gardens themselves were absolutely amazing, it was a pleasure to walk around all day, soaking it in. There were also a number of playgrounds for the kids a long the way and we all loved the chair lift. - We managed to get over 20,000 steps! The facilities were a little dated (restrooms and restaurant) but functional and offering what you would expect. Overall, good value for money for a family of 4, will likely visit again if we are in the area.
Kevin K — Google review
Good selection of animals, enjoyed photographing them all. The site is on quite a hill, and there are lots of hills and steps. Land train is useful for getting to the top. Some areas are rejuvenated and look great, other areas look tired. We had eaten before arriving, which I am glad we did, as food prices were very expensive. £5.50 for a sausage roll is too much.
Damian F — Google review
I visited Dudley Zoo and Castle with my wife and two kids, and we had a great time. There’s plenty to see and do, and all the animals looked healthy and well cared for. The staff were friendly and helpful throughout the day, and the grounds were clean and well maintained. The castle grounds are particularly impressive, with lots of interesting information about the site’s history. It’s a long day out, but there’s enough variety to keep everyone entertained. A couple of small downsides – the signage could be clearer, as it was sometimes difficult to get your bearings even with the map. The food was also quite disappointing and expensive: a £6.50 burger was just a plain patty in a bun, with no salad, sauces or cheese, and the chips were cold. The main café building itself looks quite tired and could do with a refresh, though I can understand that much of the money rightly goes towards the care of the animals. Overall, I’d definitely recommend visiting, but I’d suggest bringing your own food or picnic to make the most of the day. It’s a great family outing with a lovely mix of wildlife, history, and scenic views.
Randeep — Google review
Dudley Zoo is a great day out in any weather! The membership is amazing value, and the new playground is fantastic. We went most recently on a grey, rainy day and still saw the tiger, lions, lynx, giraffes, arctic foxes, owls, red pandas, flamingoes, giant tortoises, lemurs, penguins, meercats, all the reptiles, wolverines, geladas and much more. Great fun for children and adults alike. Also love the BSL signs up on some of the animal enclosures.
Sarah E — Google review
This zoo and castle combination is a nice place to visit. The enclosures for the animals are suitable and they seem well looked after. I got some great views and photos. You can see Lions, Tigers, Red Pandas, Giraffes, Tapir, Lemur, various monkeys so there's a lot to see. There is a fun chairlift and a few rides. The buildings are not in great condition, but it does have a certain kind of charm. My impression is that this zoo will not last forever, and no one will build a zoo in a castle grounds again, visit while you can.
Sholto D — Google review
A fantastic day spent here. Loads of animals to see. Went to the bird of prey talk/display. It's really interesting & well worth doing. History of the castle was great to discover. Would definitely recommend this place to visit.

Absolutely fantastic time at Dudley Zoo. We went on a Thursday afternoon and it was really quiet. The non-zoo animals were baking in the sun, it would have been nice to see bowls of water out for them (the birds and so on). Great selection of wild animals, absolutely beautiful.

The Coffin Works, located in Birmingham's Jewellery Quarter, is a unique museum that offers a glimpse into the history of coffin making. Once a thriving firm established by the Newman Brothers in 1882, it now stands as a museum filled with original stock and tools from its heyday. Visitors can experience the restored machinery and witness firsthand how exquisite coffin furniture was crafted for notable funerals throughout history.
It may seem strange and macabre to go to this but it isn't at all. It's more about the manufacturing process and the machines used. The volunteers are all really helpful and informative. I thought I would be in and out in 15 minutes but they made it so interesting I was there for a hour. It is a well preserved factory showing the history of one of the great manufscturing companies that used to be in Birmingham.

An amazing place to visit. Be sure to check it out. The Coffin Museum staff are very professional and friendly. After a while, I felt like I'd known these people for a long time. We also recommend it for the incredible knowledge. We were with children, and they had fun too, especially my little historian.

Excellent tour! Robin was a fantastic guide, really knowledgeable and full of fascinating facts. It was amazing to learn how this old Jewellery Quarter firm operated day to day, producing some of the world’s finest coffin furniture, including fittings for the funerals of Winston Churchill, Princess Diana, and the Queen Mother.

A good insight into the past and working life, presented through stories and anecdotes. Because of the guide's Birmingham accent, we didn't catch everything (we are German).
Yllen — Google review
Wonderful afternoon exploring this museum. Absolute time capsule within Birmingham telling the story of how coffins were made, decorated and shrouds made. An absolute must for any taphophile. Seeing the sewing machines, working press and shrouds was great however the smaller details really touched home. The worn wooden floor where years of workers tread. The seats with indents of women who sat for years sewing shrouds. The daily tea orders noted down. The glasses and shoes in the office. The owner, staff and volunteers are all friendly welcoming and knowledgeable. Small cafe was lovely with a variety of drinks and snacks.

What a fabulous hidden gem ! Really interesting place not quite what I thought it was even better. Our guide Andy was fantastic light hearted approach lots of lovely bits of detail but still very informative. Highly recommend this place an hour & a half well spent. I had an enjoyable couple of hours at this museum with an informative tour from Andy and a cuppa in the cafe during which I spoke to a number of the lovely staff. This place is an interesting visit for an aspect of Birmingham and British history but the vibe is what makes it, everyone is friendly, helpful and seems genuinely happy to be there. It's rare to come across a place with such a vibe so keep it up and thanks for the hospitality!

Went to this museum spontaneously with a friend and we both came back feeling really awkward... Staff was generally friendly but gave us no clue where to start or where to go. We had no idea. We decided to just start somewhere, only to have someone come after us telling us the 'right order' of the rooms to visit. Volunteers sat in silence, did barely respond to questions even though we were encouraged to ask questions before. We left early because we felt really uncomfortable. I have never experienced this in a museum and do not recommend this place at all.

Sutton Park is a sprawling 2000-acre parkland featuring bike and bridle paths, as well as serene lakes, making it an ideal destination for walking, jogging, cycling, and angling. With a rich history dating back to the medieval era when it was under royal ownership and used as a deer park by Norman kings, Sutton Park offers not only natural beauty but also historical significance.
Went for a 5 K jog on the recommendation of local friends. Wonderful place in the sun. Mostly tarmac paths with some gravel ones. Watch out for the cows. I have heard that there are ponies as well. Parking is free at the moment. However, where I parked, I needed to be aware of potholes in the parking areas. One nasty one on the narrow entrance road. But don't let that put you off. Get there and enjoy it in the sun.
Craig T — Google review
It’s a really beautiful park. Honestly, anyone who visits and gets a chance to try the grilled calamari here will find it worth it. The atmosphere is incredible, and it’s also right by the lake, which adds to the charm. It’s a very scenic spot. There’s a restaurant nearby in case anyone gets hungry, and overall, the park is huge. Behind it, there’s also a forest — as you can probably tell from the photo — where you might feel like you could get lost, but in reality, it’s easy to find your way back. The landscape is stunning and perfect for anyone who’s craving a bit of adventure. If I had to point out something negative, it would be because of animals like cows and others roaming around, which means there’s quite a lot of droppings scattered around. I think it needs to be cleaned more regularly so the park can reach its full potential. Even so, if you live nearby, it’s a great place to visit every weekend, especially since options are limited. In general, it just needs a bit of cleaning — maybe during the week. But overall, it’s a wonderful place to visit
Giorgos K — Google review
It's a very extensive park. The park is huge and there's a chance you can definitely get lost if you go off the main paths, but there is some signage. Nevertheless, it's a very beautiful park and great for exploring and getting in touch with nature. There was some decent foliage, but I found most off the beaten paths. Managed to capture a few photos on my visit.

I have seen many other species of birds, although not photographed yet

Kind of stumbled on the nature reserve park while trying to locate another park and ended up loving it. Got to see some ponies which was my first time seeing them and learnt a bit of the British history as at the 18th century and how 'Bowers' were constructed as channels to entice ducks for shooting. It’s a perfect place for hiking and jogging. I almost got lost tho😅 The land space is quite massive. Walked on a river bed which was already dried, knew from the pebbles. Totally enjoyed the walk and kicking pebbles as I went

Lovely woods with a deep forest feeling! Easy to access from Bromsgrove by bus and Barntgreen by walking. Bluebells are like a magic and have marvellous smell in spring, around beginning of May. The further you get into the woods the less you hear the motorway noise. Well worth a visit to enjoy nature and recharge your batteries. The LEGOLAND Discovery Centre & LEGO Store in Birmingham is a paradise for both kids and adults, offering a variety of themed areas to explore. With attractions like the 4D cinema, MINILAND, and two exciting rides, it's an ideal destination for families. The center features 10 themed LEGO play zones, a build and test area, and a soft play space all under one roof. This indoor attraction ensures that visitors can enjoy their experience regardless of the weather.
Visited for my youngest birthday treat a few weekends ago and had an amazing time. Initially it looked quite small but there's so much to do we spent the entire day here. It has a 4 d cinema, pedal ride, and shoot from a cart ride all of which are great fun and had short queues. Then there are numerous build areas that the children couldn't get enough of. Lego friends, race track, car test ramp, earthquake test area, and others. There are some added extras you can buy too such as a build session and vr ride, plus a activity booklet. None of which were expensive. The staff were super helpful and friendly. The Costa was reasonable and fresh for lunch. Had an amazing time and will be back.
Rhys D — Google review
Went before and didn't rate it. This time went on opening and seemed to be lots better. There was plenty of Lego to use and build things. Both boys got a Lego bee reward for making and showing their inventions (which wasn't on after we got ours that I saw). We did the master builder and Oscar was absolutely wonderful with the kids. It was very busy after lunch, too many people could barely move
Lucy O — Google review
We have Merlin passes, and are really keen to visit all of the attractions available to us. I wasn't sure what to expect from the discovery centre, but I was pleasantly surprised. There were a couple of rides to go on, my son loved the shooting ride, and we tried this a few times to get better scores each time. Plus there were a couple of soft play areas for different age groups, which kept me daughter busy for ages! There are lots of Lego stations around, with different themes, so both kids could build and have fun. My son loved building a car for the ramp. I'm not sure how much this place costs, but if you have a merlin pass and are in the midlands, I would definitely recommend it. It can keep the kids busy for a couple of hours easy, and then you can go to the sea life centre after to complete your day
Ian B — Google review
Such a fun family day! Lots to do, play with and explore. There is a 4d cinema (highly recommend!), soft play and various zones to build and explore. We spent half a day here and could have been here longer. There is also a Costa coffee with reasonable meal deals. Our daughter wants a birthday party here next!
Laura W — Google review
Fun family day out. I thought perhaps the place would be bigger but don't let size fool you. Lots of fun activities to do and time went fast. Personal favourite was the 4D cinema which was a great immersive experience. The soft play areas were enjoyable too, lots of fun was had. Would recommend a visit for sure.
Imran H — Google review
I can say this is one of the best indoor spots for families with young kids. The MINILAND is a real highlight — detailed LEGO models of Birmingham landmarks that light up from day to night are amazing to see. The rides, 4D cinema, and creative build zones keep children entertained for a few hours, and the staff are friendly and great with kids. That said, locals know to book online and visit early, as it gets crowded on weekends and holidays. It’s not huge, so most families spend around 2–3 hours here. The café is fine but a bit pricey — many visitors prefer grabbing food nearby in Brindleyplace after the visit. Don’t miss the LEGO Store on your way out; it’s packed with exclusive sets and fun souvenirs. Overall, it’s a great half-day outing that brings out every child’s imagination — and a bit of nostalgia for the adults too.
Michael K — Google review
A great place for kids and LEGO fans! LEGOLAND Discovery Centre in Birmingham offers a variety of attractions, from creative building zones and a mini 4D cinema to rides and a playground. The children were thrilled with the opportunity to create their own creations and the interactive attractions. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The only downside is the relatively short visit time for the ticket price – it might be a bit too challenging for older children. Despite this, the visit was a great success and full of colorful fun. It's worth a visit!

We had such a fun day at LEGOLAND! It’s perfect for toddlers with tons to see and do. my little one was entertained non-stop. The rides and play areas are super kid-friendly, and there’s so much colorful, creative stuff everywhere. Definitely a great family spot, and we’d absolutely go back again!

Drayton Manor Resort is a must-visit destination for adventure seekers and animal lovers alike. The resort features a large adventure playground with 12 rides based on Thomas the Tank Engine, as well as indoor play areas and parklands. Additionally, visitors can explore Drayton Manor Zoo, which is home to over 100 species of animals, including endangered species protected under various conservation programs.
It's an amazing place to visit with friends and family. Loved the time there. It has a lot of things to enjoy, mostly I loved the zoo as I don't really liked rides but they were all amazing.. just one tip, buy tickets online before travelling it will be cheaper around £26-31 otherwise it will be £45.

I had an amazing day at Drayton manor and it was definitely worth the money spent. I was very fortunate to plan my day on the least busy day at the theme park all year, there were weather warnings out as well as it being a weekday in September so there were less than 600 individuals in the park. Due to this, I was able to go on every coaster 3 times, including the wave, I also went on Loki and Thor 3 times. I went on every single ride in the park and all of the staff were amazing, welcoming, friendly and funny! Because of the amazing atmosphere between guests and the staff the day was great, I felt confident to go on many rides by myself and even at the front of every coaster (some rides I had entirely to myself!) due to the weather the only rides that were closed were slepnir, river rapids, air racers and bounty pirate ship, on the day the website didn’t detail that all these rides would be closed and only bounty pirate ship so I was a little disappointed however the day was so amazing and I got my money’s worth so it didn’t bother me. The only two issues I found during my trip was that the zoo was practically empty, either all the animals were hiding due to the weather or they’re just not there? We went through the entire zoo and only saw the flamingos, meerkats and a pigmy monkey. I wish I hadn’t bothered going to see the zoo due to this as we spent an hour there and we could’ve gone on a lot more rides! If animals aren’t there during this time of year it would be nice to know via the website so I could’ve planned the day more accordingly. The rides in adventure cove close earlier than the rest of the park, so I missed on going on stormforcd and the wave again… maybe I’m greedy. This doesn’t effect my star rating although as I came for the rides, not the zoo :)

This was my 7 yr old daughters first visit to a proper theme park she absolutely loved it. I am not so keen on rollercoasters as I have gotten a bit older, however the roller coasters here, although fast at twisty, did not feel like they were trying to fling you out of the atmosphere. Very enjoyable rides, and my daughter is already itching to go back, and also eager to try something bigger and faster. The whole family enjoyed the small zoo which is there also. The Red Panda, Gibbons and Meerkats were the favourites.

Our family had the most wonderful stay-and-play experience at Drayton Manor Resort, and I can’t recommend it highly enough! My wife, our 5-year-old son, and I visited recently during their Halloween special, and it was a magical experience from start to finish. Everything — from the themed décor to the warm hospitality — made it one of the best family getaways we’ve ever had. The highlight of our trip was, without a doubt, the Thomas Land theme park. Our little boy is a huge Thomas the Tank Engine fan, and seeing his face light up when we entered was priceless. He absolutely loved riding on the Thomas-themed trains, meeting his favourite characters, and exploring all the fun rides designed especially for younger children. The park was beautifully decorated for Halloween with pumpkins, friendly ghosts, and cheerful seasonal music, creating a festive yet family-friendly atmosphere. Every corner had something new to discover, and it was clear that a lot of thought had gone into making the experience enjoyable for both kids and parents. We also stayed overnight in one of the Thomas & Friends-themed rooms, and it was simply amazing. The attention to detail was outstanding — from the Thomas bedding and wall art to the little touches that made our son feel like he was sleeping in Sodor itself. He was so thrilled that he didn’t want to go to bed, and the next morning, he didn’t want to leave! In fact, he kept asking if we could stay “just one more night” so he could go back to Thomas Land again. The staff throughout the resort were friendly, helpful, and always smiling, which made the experience even better. The food options were great, and everything was clean, well-organized, and family-oriented. Overall, Drayton Manor Resort is a dream destination for families, especially those with young children. We created some truly special memories and can’t wait to visit again — maybe next time for Christmas or summer!

Wow, what a season, and it’s not over yet! Well done Drayton Manor for the friendliest welcome, be it customer services, ride staff, and catering staff. New entertainment, more atmosphere, and an incredible Halloween theming, and the light and firework show last night 😱. We have had a brilliant year and look forward to Christmas! Keep doing what you do - great value great family entertainment 🙏
Steven C — Google review
We had a wonderful day at Drayton Manor! The rides were fantastic, and we were pleasantly surprised by how many of the thrill rides our children were able to go on. The Halloween entertainment was excellent — our children especially loved the trick-or-treating experience. There was great entertainment and a fun atmosphere all around the park, with lively music adding to the Halloween spirit. The park itself was really quiet, so we were able to walk straight onto most rides, which was a huge bonus. All the staff were super friendly and really embraced the Halloween theme, which made the day even more enjoyable. We had lunch at Safari Pizza, and the family deal was great value for money. Later, we treated ourselves to Halloween milkshakes and a Halloween waffle while watching the water show — both were delicious and again, very reasonably priced. The water show was a lovely extra touch that we all really enjoyed. The zoo was another nice addition to the day, and it was lovely to see how well cared-for the animals looked. A few rides, like the rapids and the pirate ship, were closed, but honestly, we wouldn’t have had time to fit them in anyway — there was so much else to do! It’s a shame we don’t live closer, as we would definitely buy an annual pass. However, we’re already planning to return soon for the Christmas celebrations 😀 thanks !

Great family fun and value for money. Thomas Land was brilliant with a nice variety of rides and activities for the little ones, also didn't have to wait too long which was great. Staff very friendly and helpful, I will definitely come back.

The Coventry Transport Museum, located in the heart of Coventry City Centre, is a state-of-the-art museum that offers an extensive collection of British-made road transport. With over 200 bicycles, 100 motorcycles, and 240 cars and commercial vehicles on display, it's a paradise for motor enthusiasts and those interested in gaining comprehensive knowledge about transportation.
It's a truly fascinating place and definitely worth a visit. You can easily spend half of the day here if you take it slow. Here you will discover the origin of bicycles, motorcycles to all different types of car and motor sports. The museum is laid out perfectly from the start to the end. It starts with the 18th century and then goes till 21st century . It has the largest publicly owned collection of British vehicles on the planet and pictures the story of a city which changed the world through transport. Other bonus points are that it has a cafe, and even a baby changing facility. It's a place where you can go as a family.
Prashant S — Google review
It was great to see so many vehicles designed and built in Britain, but suddenly, to see the decline, even though it's been that way for a while, was a little depressing. Great experience though. The kids (2-7yo's) loved it too. Particularly the land speed cars at the end. Tickets are valid for a year so can go back again and again.
Paul H — Google review
This experience is truly exceptional and perfect for the entire family. Whether you're looking for an exciting adventure, a chance to bond over shared activities, or simply some quality time together, this destination has it all. I highly recommend you visit and see for yourself the delightful attractions and engaging experiences it offers. Don’t miss out on creating lasting memories together! Cars are fun for all ages.
John E — Google review
There is a lot to take in here. If you have children (currently Children 5-16 £8-£9, Under 4 s free - but cheaper with GO CV 2025) then it is filled with activities for them to do. I think it is always like this - not just during school holidays when I visited. There is a good range of locally built cars, bikes and motor cycles. The Jaguar 'section' brings a modernity to the historical units here, as does the Land Speed Record Thrusts 1 and 2. I was hoping to see a Jaguar C or D type but sadly not here. There are a few tractors, light military vehicles, trucks and buses, but the vast majority of the displays are cars and (motor) bikes and cycles'. The Triumph / 1970's / 80s sections were good - the range is fairly narrow as they are Coventry or locally built models. I couldn't quite get why there were some examples from Birmingham and surrounding areas - there were a lot missing if that's the rationale. Still, better to see them than not. It isn't as big as I thought from the outside. I like to see inside the vehicles but there were a lot where I couldn't do this, partly because of the way they were displayed - maybe not enough room? I think it was the unpainted monocoque shell of a Jaguar XJ220 hanging vertically - but I couldn't see any info on that. Signage was generally OK. The basic floor plan map (attached) could do with a bit more detail I thought, as could some of the displays. The 4D simulator wasn't working on my visit (30th Oct 2025) However, apart from the small bits of nit-picking above, there were so many interesting things to see. There were several unexpected delights too. Cars using fabric instead of metal, cut-aways of cars and car parts, some really unique cars, the 85th anniversary Blitz section, a huge collection of model die-casts (e.g. Matchbox) and much more. Definitely worth the entrance price - which is cheaper if booked online. The ticket is valid for readmission for a year. So, maybe when I come back (and I will) I will get to try the 4D simulator. I had intended to adopt a vehicle(!), but for £100 a year, that didn't seem good value on inspection. I also had a coffee at Baxter Baristas (enclosed in the museum. It was pretty good. The home-made cakes looked tempting too. The toilet facilities only seemed accessible if you used the cafe? I parked very close-by at Bishop Street Car Park CV1 1JN. Cash - i.e. change, or app only. A reasonable price for a heavily pot-holed lot. Not sure if there are any security cameras here - certainly not visible. No directions to the museum from here though and about a 4 minute walk.
Michael P — Google review
Easily a must see if visiting Coventry. I'm personally not a huge car fanatic, but there's no other place where you're gonna get to see the two fastest land vehicles ever made. That alone is worth the visit. Tickets are £15 if booked in advance and a around £16.50 if booked in-person on the day (for adults). However, while the ticket is valid for multiple entries for a span of 1 year either way, I'd recommend booking online in advance simply because it's cheaper.
Yuvraj H — Google review
Brilliant vehicle museum devoted to products made in Coventry or nearby. Huge collection very well presented. Interactive section for smaller children. Cars, bikes, motorbikes, lorries, armoured cars, buses, fire engines and the world's fastest cars.
Barry H — Google review
Great museum, with lots of interesting cars and bikes from all times. Including the record-breaking Thrust 2 and similar vehicles. Takes around 2 hours to finish the whole museum, take that into consideration when parking your car. The one day tickets are only available for Coventry residents.
Golden E — Google review
Interesting museum showcasing the various forms of transport originating in and around Coventry. So, not as much scope as some in terms of makers but does include both motorcycles and cars, trucks and buses - plus bicycles.

Kenilworth Castle and Elizabethan Garden is a historic site with a rich royal history. Originally built in 1120, it was later owned by Robert Dudley, Queen Elizabeth's favored suitor. The castle features architectural and political alterations made by Dudley, which are still visible today. Visitors can explore the red sandstone ruins and enjoy views of the Warwickshire landscape that Queen Elizabeth would have seen during her visits. The castle also boasts an aviary, marble fountain, and carved arbours.
A superb gem of a location. We are English heritage members and came for a day out and we weren't disappointed. The visitors centre was welcoming and accommodating. When we entered the castle grounds the views were stunning and the buildings were well preserved and sympathetically restored. We stopped for lunch and had sandwiches and snacks and my 10 year old son ate for free when we spent over £15. An amazing offer. The highlight was a guided tour from Neil of the gatehouse. Neil was extremely knowledgeable about the castle and gatehouse and how it played its part in English history. He was truly excellent and a credit to English heritage. It has been a thoroughly enjoyable day and we will absolutely visit again, and I have no hesitation in recommending Kenilworth Castle for a day trip and a tour by the wonderful Neil Hall!.

Friendly helpful staff. Fascinating building, and luckily 2 of our group knew the history of this Castle. Visited the cafe. This was a beautiful building. Staff were good, if not a little slow, maybe short staffed & we were quite a big group. I’d recommend a visit. All areas were easy to walk up. Views were beautiful.

Well restored and presented historical castle and grounds. Very informative and interesting, especially with the Wicked Game art installation. Not very accessible for wheelchairs due to all the stairs to the levels in the Castle, but good access to the site, garden, cafe and toilet. Could do with more toilets!

Lovely English Heritage site. Biggest ruins we have been to - lots to explore, quite a few different sections where you can climb to the top. Well maintained, clean and tidy site. Really enjoyed the superb sculpture display currently at the site. Would highly recommend.

Although the park is small, it has very complete facilities. Once you enter the park, you can use the tour guide to learn about the history of the place. There is an exhibition hall that shows the entire castle from construction to the final demolition and it is very interesting. I also recommend everyone to visit the GateKeeper Tower. It is very well preserved the most luxurious furniture and furnishings, you can feel the luxurious atmosphere of the time. Although the castle itself has been severely damaged, you can still imagine the style and living conditions of those who lived here during the guided tour.
Zen C — Google review
Even on a day of mixed weather it was a great visit! So many places around the ruin to explore and I enjoyed the views. All very well cared for and well laid out. The exhibitions inside were also interesting and gave more information about the history of the place. Well worth the entrance fee if you buy in advance which included an audio guide. I didn't go to the cafe or use the car parking, so can't say much about those facilities. The toilets were a bit cramped but fine. Kenilworth itself was also a great place to visit.
Kitty F — Google review
Evocative castle and grounds, with plenty of interpretation panels and some really interesting exhibitions in the stables and gatehouse. You can climb the walls of the Great Hall and other parts of the medieval castle buildings, which is fun, but thrre are also plenty of paths for the less mobile (plus a lift and accessible toilet in the gatehouse).

The think tank is a great spot for all ages. Whether you're older or younger there is something for everybody. The play area was a favourite on our visit, the kids would love to go back just for that. It's interactive and has so many different things there. It shows so much local history too which we loved. Pricing was fair and the staff were great too.

We visited Thinktank with our 6 and 9-year-olds, and they absolutely loved it, especially the outdoor area. It's really well set up for kids, and you could easily spend 2-3 hours exploring everything. Just a tip: that outdoor section can get hot in summer. Inside, the museum is spread across three stories, so there's plenty to see. A bonus for us was discovering that if you travel by bus or train, you can get 50% off admission! That made it even better value. Definitely worth checking out if you're looking for a fun and educational day out with the family.

Really great day out for all the family. Can get good discounts if you know where to look which makes it much more affordable. Loads to do. The outside water play part it especially brilliant for your kids. Planetarium comes at an extra cost but was good.

The family had a great time at the Think Tank in Birmingham. Whilst there's quite a bit to see and do, some activities weren't available due to tech issues hence the 3 stars. We parked at the Millenium Point Car Park and it's literally less than a 2 min walk to the Think Tank. There is a cafe which serves hot food, hot beverages and bakery items. The planetarium show is definitely worth seeing and the kids loved it. Lasts 20mins which gives the kids a good break.

3 hours well spent! The exhibitions are interactive and informative. I was surprised to see paper printed information peeling off the wall given the price of the ticket. The Planetarium is OK if you are new to this.

Fantastic and interesting place. Every floor offers a different insight on science, evolution, technology and mechanics throughout human history. I would definitely recommend a visit especially with the kids. The Gift shop is quite expensive though! And finding parking is a nightmare.

Brilliant day out for children, lots to do even with small toddlers. There's something for everyone. Only problem we encountered was the cafe being closed on the ground floor so there was no access to these toilets and we had to go back out the main entrance to use these. The seating area in mini Brum also had no coffee machines like it used to, so we had to leave to go to a coffee shop and then come back. Was just a slight hassle given the cafe was also closed.

Wightwick Manor and Gardens, owned by the National Trust, is a well-preserved Victorian manor located in Wolverhampton. The estate has been meticulously maintained since 1937, offering visitors a glimpse into the grandeur of the late 19th century.
Such a beautiful place both the house and the gardens. I would also like to make a special mention to all the staff I spoke to today, they were all so kind, knowledgeable, helpful and funny! The passion they all have for this site is so amazing and infectious - thank you 😊.

One of the best National Trust I have been up till today! The volunteers give you some very interesting stories about the family who lived in the Hall. The Gardens are full of different types and colours fruits. You will meet a romantic lake during your walking around the gardens.

A very peaceful place to visit. During our autumn day out at Wightwick (pronounced Wittick) there was a lovely calm about the place. Autumn had definitely arrived and the serenity of all the beautiful colours was joyful. The grounds are not too vast, but there are plenty of different areas, plus a woodland walk & a couple of small ponds. The house itself is extremely beautiful, from the decadence of the interior, to the architectural splendour of the exterior. There is a large tearoom, gift shop & second-hand bookshop, which are all worth a visit. Definitely a place I recommend, it's well worth it.

We had a fantastic day out here with friends and family. We visited and immediately were greeted by a very kind volunteer. The gardens were beautiful and the manor itself was steeped in history. The cafe was quite pricey which is to be expected, but the food was really nice so it was worth it. Alternatively you can also just take a pack lunch. Would definitely recommend this place. Really nice way to spend a day out.

Love this place! Went for the first time during the 6 weeks holidays with my 9 year old and another relative and we had a fantastic day! Its so interesting learning about the history of the manor house and the mander family who lived there So much to see and do, we walked round the manor house twice at request of my daughter, the grounds are stunning! And she loved the wooden play area in the woods We had a really tasty waffle cone from the ice cream shop and even bought home some produce they had grown on their allotments from the shop We went back again last weekend for their heritage open day and apple harvest got to harvest some apples and take them home Amazing

Yet to visit the 17 acres - more for another wonderful trip.

Wightwick is my favourite NT property so far and Ive visited a lot. The building is beautiful but the house has the most welcoming feel the second you walk through the door. It almost invites you in. Im not sure my pictures do it justice. I also have to say the guides who are volunteers are so knowledgeable. They made the visit even more enjoyable. Coffee and cake afterwards in the tea room. Perfect. This beautiful property is a definitely must visit. I loved it.

An enjoyable, first, visit to this property. It is, obviously loved by the volunteers who work there, as their delight of greeting visitors was so obvious. I was, however, rather disappointed to hear the café manager state on closing time, that the remaining sandwiches etc. that were not wanted at his offer of 30p each, were going to be put ‘in the bin’..!! Hopefully someone, could have used them?

Great for older and younger kids. 50% discount for art fund members (this is only £10 a year as a student)!!

This is a must-see for any visitor to Birmingham. It's a modest but seriously good museum, preserving an aspect of Birmingham's (and indeed British) history that is not well known. The displays of pen nibs illustrating the history of their manufacture in Birmingham are fascinating by themselves. But I really enjoyed the second room with the film and the hands-on demonstration of how to make a nib. The gentlemen who guided us through the process was so knowledgeable, it was like stepping back 100 years. The third room where you can try handwriting and use typewriters and office calculators. The volunteers were more than happy to answer our questions.

A fantastic little museum. 3 rooms packed with lots to see. Our guide, demonstrating the presses was incredibly knowledgeable. Some of the information presented was mind-blowing: how can someone make 28,000 nib blanks in a day?!? A multi-storey car is a few minutes' walk away, and the Metro station just a little further. Definitely worth a visit. Recommended. The little souvenir was a nice touch.

Completely charming. A very kind volunteer helped us press out a pen nib in the workshop and answered all our questions about this interesting slice of Birmingham history. It's more hands on than you might imagine, and the kids enjoyed it too. We only had an hour and could have spent longer reading everything in detail, but had to spend a few minutes in their beguiling shop before closing time.

Sarehole Mill Museum is a restored 18th-century working mill located next to the River Cole and Moseley Bog in Birmingham. It offers hands-on demonstrations, guided tours, and Victorian bakehouse exhibits. The mill served as inspiration for Hobbiton in The Lord of the Rings, making it a must-visit for Tolkien fans. The annual Middle Earth Festival celebrates Tolkien's work with re-enactments and themed experiences.
Following the footsteps of the greatest author in the world, we ended up at the Sarehole Mill, a place that had a large impact on JRR. Tolkiens life and works.

Took my Year 4 class there to visit as part of their Geography field trip. The children loved it, gave them some knowledge on how to measure the water depth, the purpose of stepping stones to regulate water flow and they also cross link it to their science lesson (living things and habitats) where the children asked questions about the various plants by the river. Children got to fish and learn about different lifeforms in the river water. Staff were great, knowledgeable and patient! Would be interesting for fans of J.R.R Tolkien (he lived in the house opposite Sarehole Mill)

Such a hidden gem! The museum is mostly about Tolkien and his life in Birmingham which is very interesting as an LOTR fan. When you reach the actual mill part and all the structures, everything is a perfect picture of the past, it’s amazing how well preserved it is. Also the staff are lovely! It’s a bit tricky to get to and the opening hours are limited, also sadly their tea room is closed at the moment, but it is worth a visit, especially alongside a walk around the pond which is very pretty.

Went here yesterday and as a big fan of Lord Of The Rings it was very nice to see and experience a little bit of the life of Tolkien as a little boy. It was small but a beautiful place, absolutely loved to learn a little more about the thoughts and inspirations behind LOTR.

My husband and I, being Tolkien fans, were definitely excited about doing this tour as part of our visit to Birmingham! Our initial research into the museum and the mill set us up to expect a nice tour of the mill, an intimate look into the years that Tolkien spent at the mill, and the pizza at the café. The first two items (the mill and the Tolkien trivia) were an amazing experience! We definitely recommend this tour to anybody who wants to visit a good old run down watermill simply to see the works, or if you're a Tolkien nerd as well! Our tour guide was Ash, and he was marvellous! The tour lasted about an hour, during which he took us through the floors of the mill, explaining in immersive detail what milling was all about back in the day, occasionally treating us to a bit of insight into Tolkien's life back when he lived around the mill. The third aspect that we were looking forward to (the pizza) was unfortunately a big disappointment. Not only was it mediocre at best, we also had to wait over an hour just for our order to be taken! (No, it wasn't that crowded. They were "backed up" with another order apparently.) So after over an hour of waiting to place an order (during which time we had filled up on tea and cake because we were just sitting there hungry and waiting), and then a wait of about 20 minutes for our pizza to arrive, we were quite disappointed with what we were served. In summary: definitely do the tour and take your time exploring the park and the trail, and the mill area.

It's an enjoyable short day out in the fresh air for a family with young children. You can book a guided tour of the Mill, which is about 30 minutes max, and afterwards explore the nearby park and Moseley Bog. We took packed lunches because the cafe is not open at the moment. We stayed from 11am until 3pm.

I have been to the mill a few times for the pizza pod experience and it has always been great! Highly recommended to anyone looking for a bit of an escape from the mundane city ( in the city) for a bite to eat and to relax. They also have a selection of soft drinks available, not licence for alcohol though. The mill its self is a wonderful charming place.

Library of Birmingham is a modern, 31,000-square-meter building located in the heart of the city. Opened in 2013, it stands out with its unique exterior resembling a wedding cake. The library features 10 floors connected by elevators and escalators. At the top, visitors can explore The Shakespeare Memorial room, a historic wood-paneled space from the old library that is now available for events like weddings.
Library of Birmingham – Modern, Inspiring, and Full of Character The Library of Birmingham is one of the city’s most stunning landmarks, combining modern architecture with a peaceful atmosphere for reading and learning. The terrace gardens and rooftop views are must-sees — perfect for relaxing or taking photos of the skyline. Inside, there’s a great mix of study spaces, archives, and exhibitions, with the Shakespeare Memorial Room being a real highlight. It can get busy and the layout takes a little getting used to, but the staff are friendly and the space feels welcoming to everyone. A true gem in the heart of Birmingham — ideal for book lovers, students, and anyone looking for quiet inspiration.

The relatively new library is architecturally beautiful but I’m knocking off a point because the Library closed its cafe. When you send long spells in a library it’s helpful to be able to get a drink. In the British Library there are about four or five cafes on site which enables you to work, take a comfort break and return to researching or studying. Not sure why the second city’s main public library doesn’t have this important feature. I also think the business section could do with more resources and event to support businesses and business start up. That said, staff are helpful and professional. It’s easy to take out or renew memberships. I love the light and airy space on each floor and the statement elevators. The roof top garden is beautiful and a great amenity space on a warm day for us to catch up on phone calls. Again I may have remained there if I could have gotten a drink. Instead we leaf after two hours just to get refreshments.

I visited the Library of Birmingham today. Last year, there was a lovely water feature just outside the library — a great spot where kids could play and cool off. I checked several times this year, but unfortunately, it hasn’t been turned on at all, which was a bit disappointing. That said, I did discover a small children’s play area at the lower level of the library that I hadn’t seen before. It includes sand, water, wooden toys, and natural materials — a very fun and creative space for children to enjoy. Great to see the library offering more for little ones, but I really hope the water feature returns soon!

The largest public library in the UK, Birmingham library is a great place to study. They have a large selection of books- academic, fiction and non-fiction self help books. You can also listen to audio books if you have a membership of the library which is relatively easy to get. The staff is always helpful with information relating to books and other related topics. You can find and reserve a book online on their site. They will find the book in their and other libraries and keep the book aside for you for a period of time. Having a cafe would be good given that you’d want to take a break from studying. Nevertheless it’s a beautiful place and a must visit from those outside the city. The balcony gives an amazing view of the city. 💖

This library is a wonderful addition to central Birmingham. It has many rooms all of varying sizes with many spaces for study, reading or simply relaxing. It had a vibrant feel and it was good to see people using its facilties. There were also some wonderful views of the city from a number of vantage points located on the higher floors of the building, and I particularly liked the secret garden on the 7th floor. The only two gripes for me were the initial escalators on ground floor (very dangerous) and the lack of a restaurant or cafe.
Monty — Google review
The library is beautiful! As a tourist, it is a wonderful place for anyone coming to Birmingham. On the top 2 floors, there is a beautiful terrace with lots of flowers and benches to sit on. There is an exhibition that explains the history of the library. I recommend taking the elevator up and turn down by the escalators. As a student, it is a great place to study, do your homework, it has internet, very private spaces, you can get your membership card to request books. It is a great place for group study or even to read a book.

Beautiful, grandiose, and modern. I got a bit confused with finding which floor the fictional books where. It has a massive collection of educational books. If you are a student, a researcher, or curious intellectual, it probably has what you need. The spiral floors are lovely to look at. Sit down and admire the view. Read a book and relax. See the secret garden on the 7th floor and admire the view. Go to the top floor and ponder about Shakespeare.

Situated near the Arcadian Centre and Birmingham's gay village, it has become known for hosting spectacular productions such as The Lion King and Wicked.
10/10 if I could vote higher than 5. One of the most well presented venues in the West Midlands, bringing audiences from across the UK. For many years, I’ve enjoyed everything from pantomimes, musicals, and dance. My first visit to The Hippodrome was as a child of 6 years old and having seen behind the scenes of the theatre as a teenager, I know how hard the team work to welcome high quality productions to Birmingham. My old recommendation is to continue to review the ticket prices to remain accessible to all audiences from all ethnicities and ages. Prices have risen steeply and it’s hard to balance profit with inclusion

Went to see Moulin Rouge. Went in my wheelchair. We were welcomed at the entrance and directed to the lift to take us to our seats. The staff gave us a rundown of all the facilities that we could use and were already aware of my needs from my access card. This made me feel very welcome and safe. Staff took our intermission drinks orders and delivered them to us with a smile. They regulally checked in with us to make sure we were ok. Fantastic service, venue, staff and experience. Oh, and Moulin Rouge was amazing too. Will be going back.

Great show venue in the heart of Birmingham. Helpful staff and lots of room to wait before the show and easy access to toilets. There are bars and facilities across all the floor and its easy to navigate. The only drawback at the moment is the lifts are on reduced use and there is no cloakroom. You get a lot of information once you book and they also let us know roads were busy so to set out with plenty of time. We went to see Moulin Rouge and sat in the front circle row A so had an amazing view of the stage. Seating was well organised and the staff helped people get to their seats promptly. The show started on time and was amazing. Local to the Hippodrome there are plenty of resturants, pubs and hotels. Lots of parking options and close to the centre of Birmingham

Coventry Cathedral is a modern place of worship that also features the medieval ruins of the original building, which was bombed during WWII. The New Cathedral, built to replace it, is an impressive work of architecture and a must-see in Coventry. The exterior's majestic beauty and the various statues inside create a romantic atmosphere, making it popular for couples on intimate getaways. The cathedral also houses gift shops and restaurants.
A must-visit historical and peaceful landmark in Coventry! Coventry Cathedral is a truly stunning place, rich with history and meaning. Located just a short walk from Coventry University, it’s a beautiful and clean space that blends the old and new in a powerful way. The ruins of the original cathedral stand as a moving symbol of peace and resilience, while the modern cathedral next to it is striking in design and incredibly peaceful inside. The atmosphere is calm and reflective, making it a great spot to relax, think, or take in some quiet time. The stained glass windows and architecture are breathtaking. There’s also a lovely café nearby and plenty of space to sit outdoors. Whether you're a student, tourist, or local, this is a place that leaves a lasting impression. Highly recommended!

Coventry Cathedral is absolutely stunning and full of history. The ruins of the old cathedral are a powerful reminder of the past, while the new cathedral stands as a symbol of peace and reconciliation. The contrast between the two is breathtaking and makes the visit really special. The atmosphere is peaceful, and the architecture is impressive both inside and out. Staff and volunteers are welcoming and very knowledgeable, which adds to the experience. A must-visit landmark if you’re in Coventry – both moving and inspiring.

I had a truly uplifting day in the Coventry area, where everything felt nice and tidy. The food was delightful, and the city centre offered a fantastic shopping experience with all the major shops within reach. Coventry is brimming with attractions, showcasing its rich history alongside a vibrant present and promising future. I was pleasantly surprised by the talented live performers I encountered, enhancing the city's lively atmosphere. There were no beggars or aggressive solicitations—just a welcoming and serene environment, which is a breath of fresh air in any city. Restrooms were conveniently located, and I noticed that disabled access ♿ was nearly everywhere, ensuring everyone can enjoy themselves. The city also appears to embrace dogs warmly, further adding to its charm. Families will find plenty of activities and sights to explore; just take the time to browse. Parking was straightforward and reasonably priced, making it hassle-free. I wholeheartedly endorse this magnificent city, and I believe you, too, will discover joy here—whether alone, as a couple, or with the entire family. It's an adventure filled with fun for every budget!

Wonderful modern cathedral. I feel very moved being here. The artistic skill that went into the design, both of the building and the aspect of the windows as you walk through it. Magical light falls through the stained glass . A triumph over terrible suffering during the Coventry blitz. It is free to enter but do leave a donation for it's upkeep.

Well worth a visit, for a slice of history about Coventry. (When visiting I didn’t even know this existed, so it was a pleasant surprise!). It's beautiful and well maintained. Lots to read and see, very aesthetically pleasing. Located on a beautiful tudor looking street in the centre too. Highly recommend.
Claire — Google review
An amazing example of postwar modernist architecture with beautiful artwork inside. The transition between the inside of the new and the ruins of the old cathedral is handled beautifully by a glass screen with etchings of angels.
Joseph T — Google review
The destroyed Cathedral remains as a reminder of the futility of war and the new cathedral is literally next door. A very nice couple of hours to visit and admire the artwork, stained glass and the amazing tapestry of Jesus. A small souvenir shop is inside where a guide book was on sale for a ludicrous £20. The cathedral has step free access, very limited parking nearby I used the multi storey in the shopping mall.

Nestled in the charming city of Lichfield, Lichfield Cathedral stands as a stunning example of Gothic architecture and is unique for being the only medieval cathedral in England adorned with three spires. This magnificent structure boasts over 1,300 years of rich history, featuring captivating medieval wall paintings and exquisite Herkenrode stained glass windows. Visitors can marvel at the renowned Lichfield Angel, which dates back to 730 AD.
Lichfield Cathedral Tower Tour Lichfield Cathedral Tower Tour is a great experience. Tours must be booked in advance from the Cathedrals website, but they are very reasonably priced for what you get to see. You must be reasonably fit, and good with heights, as there are some steep narrow staircases to negotiate, and small gaps to fit through. Our guide Graham was very knowledgeable, and great at explaining a lot about the history of the Cathedral. When you reach the highest point, there are some stunning views to be had. I highly recommend this tour. We loved it and will do it again at different times of the year for some differing views.

A truly breathtaking cathedral. The Gothic architecture is stunning, with its three spires creating a unique silhouette against the sky. The stone carvings and intricate details on the façade are remarkable, each statue and ornament telling its own story. Inside, the stained glass windows glow with vibrant colors, filling the space with a quiet, almost sacred light. The vaulted ceilings and fine woodwork show an incredible level of craftsmanship. It’s not just a place of worship, but also a masterpiece of art and history, worth taking time to explore slowly.

Today I finally did the tower and roof tour. It was amazing and the views from the tower are stunning. Got to see a lot of stuff you don't normally get to see too. The tour guides George and Alan were very knowledgeable and I learnt a lot of new stuff about the cathedral and Lichfield in general. Well worth the £18 as the tour was nearly 2 hours. Made my day and now when I look up on future visits I can say "I've been up there" 😁

One of the best Anglican churches in the region and in England. The church building has a great character don't forget to walk around the church to appreciate the lovely location and features of the church building. Going inside the church has no ticket, but donations are appreciated which goes towards the maintenance of the Cathedral. Volunteers were kind and helpful and can guide you around the premises. From the East side of the building you can go up yo St Chad's terrace and is quite and peaceful for a prayer and specially very positive vibes when hearing the choir. The giant table made with 5000 year Dark Oak wood! Worth visiting! Recommend checking the website, there is plenty of activities specially in the summer. For concerts recommend booking tickets in advance.
V M — Google review
Lichfield Cathedral truly is a hidden gem. Although it’s only a short drive from the M6 motorway, it’s like stepping back in time. The cathedral itself has a grandeur to it which is unlike many other, smaller, more modern cathedrals. The outside of the cathedral is beautifully designed, in proportion, and well appointed with a variety of statues. The West door is huge and impressive with a variety of ornate Victorian carvings outside. Once you enter the cathedral, the visitors’ desk is staffed by polite and helpful members of staff who will guide you around the cathedral. The ceiling of the nave is particularly impressive and the grand arches are second to none in the UK. The stained glass throughout the cathedral is particularly impressive. However, when you get to the far east end of the cathedral, you will see the Herkenrode glass which is unlike anything you will see in any other cathedral in the UK. There were several treasures contained within the chapter house, such as the Saint Chad Gospel which make this cathedral a real pleasure to walk around and visit. There is parking nearby in Bird Street car park and the public toilets are easily accessed. The Minster Pool next door is also worth a visit to feed the ducks. Although Lichfield is not on the usual tourist trail, it is worth a detour. I can’t recommend this cathedral strongly enough.

Bullring & Grand Central is a modern and iconic shopping destination in Birmingham, featuring a diverse range of high-street fashion, household shops, and restaurants. With over 140 different shops, it has its roots in the Middle Ages when it was used for the city's first markets. Visitors praise the variety of shops and the overall shopping experience. However, some feel that the dining options are limited compared to other centers.
We stopped off here on our way back from Scotland to pay our respects to Ozzy, have a look around, and get some lunch. We ended up doing a bit of shopping too. A great experience it had to be said

So having arrived in brum by train we went to explore the ode bullring. I tell you what pal but the place was absolutely heaving for saying the weather had taken a turn for the worse and it was raining, the city is definitely a sleeping giant! We joined the many blues, sky blues, villans and old golds in checking the place out. I tell you what pal but I've never seen a primark or primarni as I call it so big, this bad boy of a store had 4 floors with a cafe, a greggs and even a pre loved section! It really was inspirational and I've not seen or been in another primark like it anywhere it really is an eye catcher baby massive kudos! Had a nosey in the body shop and I tell you what pal but the ode sugar pumpkin 🎃 section was absolutely banging it was a beautiful scent, hand cream, shower gels the full shebang people were going mad for it, reckon this stuffs the new best seller in brum land and the lady working there loved a good natter she was a good egg pal! Ended up getting a my cookie dough from one of the pop ups. It wasnt cheap pal, but i went with the cookies and cream with ice cream and oh my god pal talk about yummy yummy in my tummy or what. It was massive and very tasty indeed pal, I'll let you into a little secret but im sure I put 4 pounds on eating that bad boy! Walking back to the ode train station we were greeted by ozzy the mechanical bull, what a creature, what a construction all 33ft of him, definitely worth a look 👀 The other thing i noticed round ozzy, it absolutely stunk of wacky backy to the point that when I got back on the train my head was nearly touching the roof I was that high on the whiffer! Alot of trains cancelled today however no problems for us and we managed to get 2 seats together on the return journey but again that was a little bit whiffy as someone kept letting tommy squeakers off. A cracking day out though and definitely a sleeping giant there 😴 keep up the fantastic work you brummies 👏

it’s lovely, i like taking a stroll around and it’s never too busy, a lot of parking too and it’s just a nice chill spot to do window shopping, it’s funny how you have to go outside to get to another side of bullring sometimes but it’s nice. very unique.

The Bullring dates back to the fifth century where the first stall was opened to sell coffee and doughnuts to wandering peoples practicing Germanic Paganism. At the end of the Roman Empire Christianity had failed to grip the imagination of the bods of Mercia as they worshipped the likes of Thor, Odin, and Tyr. The doughnut sellers had to ensure they had sufficient stocks as failure to supply may have determined that they be sacrificed, both human and animal offerings were presented to the gods. Over the years the Bullring grew, shop by shop, until it became the second city's biggest outlet. Please note there are still multiple sellers of doughnuts in the venue, honouring the sixteen centuries of sweet treats munching.

The Museum of the Jewellery Quarter in Birmingham offers live demonstrations of traditional jeweler's craft and legacy tours of time-warp workshops. This famous area showcases the city's history as a major jewelry manufacturing hub, dating back to at least the 16th century. The Quarter remains an important center for jewelry production, with 40% of all UK jewelry still made here annually. It is a fascinating neighborhood that provides insight into Birmingham's industrial past and its ongoing significance in European jewelry making.
A great little museum. William the tour guide was excellent - very entertaining and interesting. An hour well spent. Lovely and warm as well, which is what you want in February. It was almost eerie to see the papers and machines how the last workers left them in the 80s. It really brought the era to life for me. Good selection of coasters in the gift shop.

A truly fascinating visit! Our guided tour (ca. 1 hour) was done by a knowledgable, dedicated volunteer (our guide grew up just a few streets from the museum) and the entire museum and preserved factory space is beautifully presented. You can see the tools, work benches, office and all the steps involved in making a piece of jewellery from order via the raw materials and hand-stamping and tooling to shipping. Some machines still work and the tour guide will activate them to let you experience the workspace. You can ask questions and we learned a lot about the city’s jewellery trade in the industrial age. The little shop also has a neat selection of Birmingham (social) history and fashion history publications. Highly recommend visiting!

He even picked up on my son's love of rugby and enriched the tour with stories of local Rugby teams, ensuring his young mind stayed fascinated throughout. Highly recommended!

Fascinating: the workshop and the office are full of the paraphernalia of the jewellery-making business, as if the workers had just left the building (which they did in 1981). Interesting and well presented guided tour, well worth visiting.

The National Motorcycle Museum is a must-visit destination for motorcycle enthusiasts and families alike. It houses an extensive collection of over 1,000 fully restored British motorcycles, showcasing the evolution of UK motorcycle manufacturing from 1898 to the present day. From sleek vintage models to powerful modern superbikes, the museum features 170 different makes including iconic brands like BSA, Norton, and Triumph. Additionally, visitors can enjoy a meal at the on-site restaurant.
I visited after I had been to a recent conference next door. As a lover of bikes it was lovely to take the opportunity to visit. The venue is clean and tidy, helpful staff and the bike are amazing. Lots of information available. There is a lovely area to stop for a drink and a snack with some lovely merchandise as well.
Mandie J — Google review
The Museum has plenty of parking so thus was good. The Museum has 100s of bikes ranging from racing bikes, drag racing bikes. A lovely selection of historical bikes dating back to the late 1800's. It was nice to walk around and see how the design of motorcycle and technology had evolved over the decades. All the bikes where in very good condition and well looked after. I would say a visit would take around 2 hours if you took your time. There is also a cafe in site that serves a selection of food and drinks along with a souvenir shop.

We did a last minute trip when staying local in the area and discovered it was a special weekend. Hundreds of bikes parked up outside. We just paid to park the car as the museum was free. Even greater suprise was we got to see Henry Cole, Allen Millyard, Guy(skid) Willison, John McGuiness and Dean Harrison on stage. Wow and the museum was filled to the rafters with some amazing displays. Well worth a visit.

If you're a motorcycle freak like I am, this is a must-visit museum!!! Over 800 pristine examples of British Motorcycle History. Well displayed in 5 grand halls. Representing everything from the dawn of creation to racing legends. This place has it all. Nice gift shop and coffee shop as well. Great staff rolls it up into a lovely package.

Easy to park, beautifully simple building, gr8 loos & FABULOUS museum. Wonderful bikes. Stunning artwork which sits the bikes & riders in their time. My 'photos make me happy... Singer, Raleigh, Marsh, BSA boardroom clock and a framed photograph which explains that there is no more clatter of hooves; just a snort & an occasional backfire as bikes speed along the cobbles. Everyone can find something here which draws them in to this amazing world.

My first stop was the cafe and shop. Cafe staff are wonderful. Both young ladies were chatty, funny and helpful. The shop has plenty of items to choose from. The motorcycle collection is huge. Each exhibit has an easy to read information board. Everything is well laid out and spotlessly clean.

Exhaustive collection of Britain’s best motorcycles. While the building itself feels a bit like a golf clubhouse from the 90’s the collection of motorcycles can’t be beat. Definitely stop at the gift store, there are some great items in there! A must stop for motorcycle enthusiasts although there’s something here for all to appreciate!

Strange place midweek - no specific motorcycle parking for a Motorcycle Museum? Entry a little confusing but good cafe/coffee! There appears no true chronological layout, or by makes overall - 4-halls all very similar & packed with some very historic machines. Id love to give it 5-stars, but it didnt rock my boat for a first visit, sorry! Final comment, National in the title is just that, no Jap, German or US machinary whatsoever!

Cannon Hill Park in Birmingham is a top destination, offering a wide range of activities on its 250 acres. Visitors can enjoy tennis courts, a bowling green, boating on the lake, mini-golf, and scenic walking trails. The park also features the MAC arts center and expansive open spaces. Cannon Hill Park is a perfect blend of nature, culture, and recreation. Whether you’re seeking relaxation, exercise, or entertainment, this park delivers on all fronts. Highly recommended for both locals and visitors to Birmingham. The park is beautifully maintained, with expansive lawns, woodlands, and ornamental gardens. It is especially picturesque during spring and summer, offering numerous photo opportunities.

A Perfect Sunny Day at Cannon Hill Park, Birmingham My wife and I recently spent a sunny afternoon at Cannon Hill Park in Birmingham, and it was truly a wonderful experience. From the moment we arrived, we were struck by the park's stunning natural beauty – wide open green spaces, beautiful flowerbeds, and the gentle sound of birds singing and water trickling through the stream. It’s the perfect escape from the noise of the city. We took a long, relaxing walk through the park, and every step was a joy. The fresh air, peaceful atmosphere, and scenic views made it feel like a small piece of countryside right in the heart of Birmingham. Along the way, we passed several charming coffee shops and an ice cream van, which added a lovely touch to our visit – ideal for taking a short break and enjoying a treat. One of the highlights is the presence of the historic MAC (Midlands Arts Centre), located within the park. It offers exhibitions, performances, and a café with outdoor seating, perfect for enjoying a drink while soaking in the view. There are also picturesque bridges, boating lake areas, and even a small funfair for families. Whether you’re going for a walk, having a picnic, or just sitting on a bench to relax, Cannon Hill Park offers something for everyone. We truly enjoyed every single minute and would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Birmingham – it’s a hidden gem that captures both the beauty of nature and the charm of the city's history. Cannon zHill Park is one of the biggest parks situated in Moseley, not far from the cricket ground. It has all the usual park features, a lake with ducks, tree lined paths, boating area, floral areas, a picnic playground, toilets and an access to the MAC, an arts centre. We enjoyed a contemplative walk through the park after learning of a bereavement. The park appears dog friendly and it has many lawns for picnics.

A nice balance between a old-fashioned (and very good) parkland, with big old trees, including a Redwood, and totally fun things for all ages. I really enjoyed this park - the rides looked like fun, and "Swan Lake" was spotless. Toilets & cafés were good.

Experience was worth it, comes with certain caveats though for instance - Parking is an issue, also food carts are spread across the place but hard to get anything gotta wait in long ques etc. But hey you go there for sports! So you will have fun. Pro tip! Bring your binoculars 😉

It consistently earns the Green Flag Award, recognizing it as one of the UK’s best-maintained public parks . As per my knowledge Established in 1873 thanks to generous donations from Louisa Ann Ryland, the park was designed by T. J. Gibson, who also worked on London’s Battersea Park.

The Barber Institute of Fine Arts is an art gallery and performance venue located in the beautiful University of Birmingham campus. The collection contains works by some of the greatest artists in history, including Monet, Van Gogh, Degas and Renoir. If you're a fan of fine art, then you should definitely check it out!
Definitely recommend it. They have a large collection, many famous artists. The staff is friendly. Nevertheless there is clearly room for improvement. The fact that many artworks are hanging tilted, not straight, that the light reflects on the frame window… not ideal. They could definitely also make it more interactive. Still a must see if you can especially as it’s free and not crowded so you can really wander around peacefully.

Went to see Blind Girl (not at main Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery), and discovered the gem that the gallery is on university campus. Well worth train from New Street to University (but quite a walk on campus).

Absolute gem- was not expecting to see paintings and sculptures by Moore, Degas, Toulouse- Letrec, Rosalli, Monet, Van Gogh.. all without crowds and high entrance fees for exhibits! Well worth a visit and supporting through easy to use contactless donation points. Beautiful art deco building makes this, along with Winterbourne around the corner a joint favourite place to visit in Birmingham. Could do with a dedicated cafe and seating around to pull in the punters and agree with suggestions about poor lighting and tilt on some paintings but overall a wonderful local asset! Interesting scent exhibition at present too

We went to see a couple of the current exhibitions, but one only had 4 paintings, which I would not classify as an exhibition. Entry is free though.

The park is a haven for birdwatchers with its bird-watching hides and diverse birdlife. Visitors can explore the network of paths, bridleways, and marked cycle routes while enjoying the picturesque landscape.
Amazing water park with lots of activities for the family. Finding parking is easy enough and once you're there you can go on bike rides (also available to hire), go for a walk or jet ski. There's also a playground area for children, tourist centre and stunning views. We didn't want to wait in the queue for an ice cream so went to the cafe instead- where there is a good selection of food and drinks There was also a bouncy castle and bungee jumping available when we went Highly recommend a visit- you won't be disappointed

Lots of area to walk and explore. There are bikes and trikes to hire, ducks to feed and fishes to catch. There is a Good cafe, icecream shop and toilets there. There is jet ski stunts to watch for. And if you are lucky you might even see RC model boat racing happening at one of the members dedicated place. There is plenty of woodland and water body to explore. I would recommend for a day out with family
Kuruvilla V — Google review
Kingsbury Water Park is a wonderful place to visit and we had such a lovely day out. Even in the winter cold, the walks around the lakes were beautiful and perfect for taking the dog. The scenery is peaceful and well looked after, with plenty of information boards about the local wildlife and the nature of the lakes, which really added to the experience. We were lucky enough to catch a miniature boat race on the water, which was great fun to watch. The children’s play areas are brilliant, and the little railway is a real highlight – even though we didn’t go on it, it was still very entertaining to watch. The café was welcoming and served the most delicious hot chocolates, just what you need on a chilly day. Parking is £5 for the whole day, which we thought was excellent value. We’d definitely recommend a visit!

Can't beat Kingsbury Water Park. Always first thought of for a family day out, £5 parking all day! Huge park to go exploring with the kids, a good size playing area too! If you're lucky, you will see some baby ducks! Great for outdoor exploring, great for families, dog walkers, fishing, and so much more. Well looked after and always and enjoyable family day out.

What a fabulous place to get lost in! I walked from the campsite on a busy Sunday but met very few people until I reached the msin visitor car park. Here there were toilets, cafe, seating, a huge play area and a little train station. There's plenty of walks, lakes and wildlife and a great day out for young and old. Cafe was slow and seemed a bit inadequate, it took me a long time queuing just to get a takeout cup of tea. And it was difficult to try and follow the coloured trails as at junctions signposting was sometimes missing but these are minor issues.

The Walsall Arboretum is a lovely park with formal gardens, a play area for children and an outdoor fitness trail. It is situated on land that was once part of the Persehouse family's estate, which had clay pits and lime kilns built on it in the eighteenth century. The quarries later flooded and turned into popular swimming spots, leading to one mayor's death.
It is one of the most beautiful parks in West Midlands. Stunning surroundings with the little fountain in the middle of the pond, large kiddies playground, small caffe. On the weekends sometimes some events, music, dances, etc.

Toilets also at the start and finish and a cafe just around the corner. Highly recommend a visit.

West Park is a 17-acre Victorian-era park that offers a picturesque setting with its beautiful lawns, lakes, and Victorian architecture. Open to the public from Thursday to Sunday each week, this archetypal Victorian park features sweeping lawns, botanical gardens, forested avenues, and ornamental lakes. It boasts Grade II listed structures such as a bandstand and lakeside conservatory. The park also provides amenities like tennis courts, a bowling green, and a children's play area.
Lovely big open space to bring the kids. They do events throughout the year as well. It's a nice big playground for babies/toddlers and big kids alike. Toilets on site as well as a small cafe area. Massive pool to come and feed the birds. Plenty of seating dotted around. Free parking is allocated all around the park itself. Some history aspects to look at. Picturesque views. Band stand areas. Exotic plant area which a lot of the time isn't open to the public. Nice family day out to be had here or just some down time to yourself

Such a lovely park to walk around: a lake with lots of water birds; lots of different trees; tennis courts and exercise area; play area for the children; public toilets; a place to buy ice-cream. Beautiful park, you can bring a picnic. There are benches all around the park so you can sit in shade or in sun. There are greylag geese, Canadian geese, mallards and coots, swans, squirrels, pigeons and seagulls. It is absolutely huge and full of beautiful trees and flowers. Can easily spend an entire day there. Take sweetcorn and peas defrosted and some bread, nut mix for the squirrels and bird seed for pigeons, and you’ll have friends following you all day. One of my favourite places on earth!!

West Park in Wolverhampton is a nice peaceful retreat with lots of Wildlife and Nature, as well as beautifully patterned planting beds. I really enjoy walking around there for meditation and fresh air, especially on a Sunny day. The only downfall I'd say is there seem to be a few homeless people who frequently sleep on one of the benches. It's embarrassing that it's the year 2025, money circulating by the trillions, and yet still homelessness isn't addressed at all!. Drug addiction and alcoholism are still supported via an enabling coupon System, and it's just accepted as the norm. I feel sorry for these people. Other than that, it's a beautiful park worth a visit. I regularly do photography here.

I visited here during half term break for a short 45 minute activity which involved decorating a diva. The activity was free of charge so I didn't have anything to lose in attending. The security guard at the front of the building was very helpful. He could tell I didn't know where to go, and he clearly guided me, and was very polite and welcoming. At the end of our activity he wished us a good day, and even praised our decoration efforts! The actual activity: it was decorating a paper plate not an actual diva and it occurred after Diwali. I think it would have been better suited for before Diwali, and perhaps an actual diva? The paper plate was fine, although I think they should have specified this beforehand. I took 2 sons with me, I was the supervising adult for one and took another adult to supervise the other. We all had a plate to decorate but when I looked at other parents they weren't decorating their own, just the child. I actually found the activity fun, and it occupied us for a short time which is helpful during school holidays. There wasn't much interaction from the organisers of this event, we were given the plates and felts and that was it other than the odd "is everything ok?" I personally didn't mind this but I can imagine there might be some who would expect more interaction. I'd do this again, it kept my child occupied, he enjoyed it and we all loved comparing our efforts. I personally feel my diva was second best and my children's efforts were joint first place 🙂

This is a lovely gallery with a great pop art collection and there is a lovely exhibition currently there called Come as you really are. Lots of fascinating things to see. This also included a video installation where benches were there to watch it and cushions were provided to sit on.there is a great range of art and some of it is very thought provoking. I would absolutely recommend it and would love to come back to try the cafe there as it looked really lovely there. There is an area for community projects and it looks like a space where children can create some art too. It's free entry and they just ask for a donation.
Penny G — Google review
Wonderful exterior. But not so the interior. Far too modern in my opinion. With wasteful areas, and unnecessary stairways. Exhibition rooms were well presented, but uninviting with heavy doors with no signage, so unclear as to whether it was a communal area or staff area. The art gallery area was light, bright and well presented. Popular cafe space, regular coffee cup rather small for the price.

Baggeridge Country Park, located just four miles south of Wolverhampton, is a redeveloped mining land offering 150 acres of woodland trails, meadows, marshes, and water on hilly terrain. The park features an aerial ropes course, sensory garden, and a newly renovated play area with swings and slides for younger children and a large climbing frame for older kids. It has been recognized as a Green Flag winner every year since 1998.
Great place for walking the dog, taking the kids exploring or just a stroll around to relax. There are toilets and a cafe at the car park, further toilets and another cafe if you walk down to Himley Hall as a convenient half way point. Many paths are accessible by wheelchair with dedicated circular routes. Pay and display parking or a yearly pass available from the rangers office. If going off the main paths it can get a bit muddy in the wet and some steep hills.
Phil W — Google review
Lovely park with great playground for kids, occasional mini train and lots of woodland walks. Would give it 5 stars but could do with more dog poo bins and I'm annoyed that some families allow their dogs to jump into Bag Pool which has scared away all the ducks and geese that used to live there.

We hadn't been for years and wanted a to go for a walk. Good pathways, some a bit steep, but ok for us. Just got a little lost with the trail signage( might need updating to make it clearer) Otherwise a good walk round by the lakes. Toilet area was clean. And we had a drink in the cafe. Plenty of paid parking. And a good play area for younger children. Very enjoyable

Lovely local park! Parking is just £3.50 for the whole day, making it a great spot for a relaxed visit. It takes around 45 minutes for a round-trip walk to Himley Hall, which is a nice addition to your visit if you’re up for a stroll. The park itself is beautiful, with a peaceful pond full of ducks and plenty of scenic walking paths to explore in different directions. There are lots of perfect picnic spots scattered around, ideal for a family day out or a quiet afternoon. I haven’t had the chance to try the mini railway yet, but it looks like fun and is definitely on my list for next time! There’s also a charming local shop where you can grab hot drinks, cakes, sandwiches, and even ice cream. On a cold day, a hot chocolate really hits the spot while walking around. A lovely, well-kept place to enjoy nature and unwind.

Blakesley Hall Museum is a well-preserved Tudor house in Birmingham, dating back to 1590. It offers visitors a glimpse into the city's agricultural past with its classic Tudor architecture and original fixtures. The museum is located in the suburb of Yardley and features picturesque gardens that provide a tranquil escape.
We visited as a family for the first lot of Tudor Christmas Tours and we weren't disappointed! Plenty of things to see and really immerse yourself in what life was like in Tudor times, and afterwards, for both the landowners and for the people working and living there. Our tour guide was wonderful, really knowledgeable, and our daughter loved it too. We'll be back in the summer to see the gardens in full bloom!

Really interesting visit - super knowledgeable guide spent quality time with myself and my husband to explain some of the history and then we were able to take whatever time we needed to look around. Office team were also really helpful as we signed up for a museum pass - looking forward to exploring other places across Birmingham and will go back for another visit to Blakesley Hall when the weather is a bit warmer!

If you like historical buildings, this is a good one. 1590s build, with additional work over the centuries. Great guide, knowledgeable and interesting, delivered with a bit of humour as well. Overall the staff were lovely, the grounds immaculate and the house well presented and interesting.

This place is a hidden gem. Takes you back to the good old days. Last time I came here was in primary school. A good 20 years ago. The blakesley has been maintained very well. The courtyard is free to roam and take some picturesque photos. Some many apple trees, white flowers and yellow flowers. To into Blakesley there is a £8 charge for adults and £4 (I think) for children. They also have a small shop for which you can purchase merchandises and small gifts. There's also free parking on site.

A gorgeous house with lots to see, and charming guides full of knowledge to inform. The guides let visitors in at intervals with a good introduction to the history of the house, then you're free to wander at your leisure. The house is well kept and fully furnished in the style of the day. Especially good is the family room with costumes for dress up and puppets and theatre for putting on your own productions, as well as books, and blocks for building, to keep the little ones entertained for a good while. Well recommended.

Had a lovely afternoon out for Apple day on October 3rd. They had lots of things for the kids to do and and a craft fair was on in the hall, it was brilliant. The hall itself is wonderful and there are guides there that can answer any questions you have. The building was built in 1590 but Is impeccably maintained. There's a little family room upstairs with toys and games and stuff. The stairs are quite steep and might be a challenge for some people. The site isn't massive but there's a nice cafe and a small garden to walk around. I think we will definitely go back in the future.

Beautiful house in a beautiful setting. The guides are extremely knowledgeable and are fantastic with children. The hall itself is kept very well and laid out as it would have been back then, with some exhibits kept in immaculate glass housing. There is also a café and shop which are fairly well priced and you are able to bring your own food and sit in the gardens when the weather is good. Also highly recommend getting some of the lavender goods which is grown on site.

Beautiful gardens and an amazing house to look at. We didn't go inside as it was around £18 for a family ticket and we were a little short of cash this month!! I'd definitely go inside when I'm flush though as we looked through the windows and it looked awesome inside.
