Bodies of Water
Edgbaston Reservoir, located in Birmingham, is a 70-acre site with open water that was built by Thomas Telford in 1827 to supply water to the city's canal network. The reservoir features a 1.75-mile path around it, offering picturesque views and a wooded trail that is home to various wildlife such as woodpeckers, newts, and bats.
It's a beautiful place, quite and serene, where you can enjoy the natural beauty and connect with the nature.
Ashish L — Google review
I really enjoy visiting Edgbaston Reservoir. The nature is beautiful and it’s very easy to access. The lake is stunning, and you can often spot lovely swans which always makes me happy. On calm days, you can also see boats gliding over the water which adds to the peaceful atmosphere. Overall, it’s a place I truly like. The only downside is that, since it’s not a very large park, sometimes you might notice the smell of people smoking cannabis. It doesn’t happen every time, but it can take away from the enjoyment of the natural setting. I truly hope that either visitors become more considerate or there will be some rules in place to reduce smoking in open areas, so that everyone can enjoy the beauty of this place without disturbance.
Bahareh M — Google review
Love this Reservoir. They have park run every Saturday morning. One lap around the reservoir is 2.5k so easy to calculate when running. Also reasonably flat!
Jahan — Google review
Ideal for a quick run or a relaxing walk.
Garima K — Google review
Great walk around with a spot of trees in the city. Shame there is a lot of broken glass everywhere, I like to take my dog out there but you constantly have to keep an eye on the floor for glass.

Edgbaston Reservoir is a peaceful escape in Birmingham, perfect for walks, runs, or a quiet afternoon by the water. The scenic views and wildlife (especially birds!) make it a hidden gem. Paths are well-maintained, and it’s great for kayaking or sailing. Lacks cafes/amenities, so bring your own snacks. Can get busy on weekends, but still a lovely spot for nature lovers. #EdgbastonReservoir #Birmingham #OutdoorEscapes

Lovely little area for a walk, it's a shame that it doesn't seem as safe as it was a few years ago, people smoking and littering puts you off a bit. Nevertheless the view is lovely

Nestled near Solihull, Earlswood Lakes offers a delightful circular trail that begins at The Bulls Head, a charming historic pub known for its locally sourced cuisine and award-winning ales. This scenic route meanders through the captivating local waterways, including a portion of the Stratford-upon-Avon Canal and encircles the stunning Earlswood Lakes.
Beautiful lake with a good to know history.. Must visit on a nice sunny day.. The car park has limited space and might need a little wait at time for getting a parking spot.
SANDEEP C — Google review
Pretty lakes and walk. But sandy "beach" area around the lake is poorly maintained and full of smashed glass shards. Shame the people using the area can't treat it with respect and take their litter with them. Wouldn't recommend with children or dogs who could be injured. No facilities. Parking for about 15 cars max
Nicola M — Google review
These lakes are lovely all year round. You can walk around the perimeter within an hour along the well maintained footpaths. Ducks etc are there to feed. Angling is allowed, you may need a permit. My photos and video was taken overlooking Engine Pool, one of 3 pools on a gorgeous sunny Bank Holiday. There are a couple of pubs nearby, The Red Lion on Lady Lane or Hickory's Smokehouse, The Common.
Steve W — Google review
A stunning place. Lucky to go on a sunny day, it looks so gorgeous. Just need to wait a while to call for a car when leaving, but everything worths it. It’s not far from Solihull, just ~10 min ride, good to go for a walk to enjoy the sunshine and beautiful scene there.

Water Parks
Kingsbury Water Park, located in Sutton Coldfield, spans 600 acres and features 15 lakes that were formed from former gravel pits. The park is a haven for birdwatchers with its bird-watching hides and diverse birdlife. Visitors can explore the network of paths, bridleways, and marked cycle routes while enjoying the picturesque landscape.
Amazing water park with lots of activities for the family. Finding parking is easy enough and once you're there you can go on bike rides (also available to hire), go for a walk or jet ski. There's also a playground area for children, tourist centre and stunning views. We didn't want to wait in the queue for an ice cream so went to the cafe instead- where there is a good selection of food and drinks There was also a bouncy castle and bungee jumping available when we went Highly recommend a visit- you won't be disappointed
Sobia A — Google review
Lots of area to walk and explore. There are bikes and trikes to hire, ducks to feed and fishes to catch. There is a Good cafe, icecream shop and toilets there. There is jet ski stunts to watch for. And if you are lucky you might even see RC model boat racing happening at one of the members dedicated place. There is plenty of woodland and water body to explore. I would recommend for a day out with family
Kuruvilla V — Google review
Kingsbury Water Park is a wonderful place to visit and we had such a lovely day out. Even in the winter cold, the walks around the lakes were beautiful and perfect for taking the dog. The scenery is peaceful and well looked after, with plenty of information boards about the local wildlife and the nature of the lakes, which really added to the experience. We were lucky enough to catch a miniature boat race on the water, which was great fun to watch. The children’s play areas are brilliant, and the little railway is a real highlight – even though we didn’t go on it, it was still very entertaining to watch. The café was welcoming and served the most delicious hot chocolates, just what you need on a chilly day. Parking is £5 for the whole day, which we thought was excellent value. We’d definitely recommend a visit!
Hannah R — Google review
Can't beat Kingsbury Water Park. Always first thought of for a family day out, £5 parking all day! Huge park to go exploring with the kids, a good size playing area too! If you're lucky, you will see some baby ducks! Great for outdoor exploring, great for families, dog walkers, fishing, and so much more. Well looked after and always and enjoyable family day out.
E.BROWN — Google review
Nice park visited during school holidays hence it wasn’t easy finding a parking space at first. Free admission, paid £6 for parking. Well maintained walkways and many lakes, really nice place with a miniature train, playgrounds for the kids and a cafe, well worth a visit
Chipmunk A — Google review
Lovely place to walk around with plenty of parking in various areas. There is even a sailing club, so great to see. There is a giant play area for the children. There's even a little train.
Loulou V — Google review
What a fabulous place to get lost in! I walked from the campsite on a busy Sunday but met very few people until I reached the msin visitor car park. Here there were toilets, cafe, seating, a huge play area and a little train station. There's plenty of walks, lakes and wildlife and a great day out for young and old. Cafe was slow and seemed a bit inadequate, it took me a long time queuing just to get a takeout cup of tea. And it was difficult to try and follow the coloured trails as at junctions signposting was sometimes missing but these are minor issues.
Kyla F — Google review
It's a great place for a walk or a day out in the nature. There are plenty of activities (fishing, jet ski ing, cycling, etc) and cafés to eat. There is a small train operating around the water park. All day parking better March and October is £5.

Nature & Parks
Nestled just a short 15-minute journey from Birmingham city center, Handsworth Park is a stunning 63-acre green oasis that beautifully marries history with modern leisure. Originally established in 1888 as Victoria Park, this Grade II listed gem underwent an impressive restoration in 2006, thanks to significant lottery funding. Visitors can wander through its meticulously landscaped grounds adorned with vibrant flower beds and majestic mature trees.
I want to write an extensive review of this park because there are so many features worth mentioning. I had the pleasure to spend a windy but sunny winter morning in this expansive park, which is a haven for nature enthusiasts and families. It is well-maintained with plenty of litter bins and dog waste bins scattered around. The park offers clear walking and running paths. Numerous benches are scattered throughout, providing perfect spots to relax and a welcoming escape. The family-friendly environment is evident, with easy access from multiple entry points and a fairly big car park by the Holly Road entrance. The lush greenery and big lake by the Hamstead Road entrance, populated with geese and other birds, enhance the park's natural charm. There is another, smaller, lake by the cricket ground. For children, there's a well-equipped playground that promises hours of fun. Sports fans will appreciate the basketball, football, and cricket grounds available. Additionally, the park boasts vibrant murals that add a splash of color and creativity to the surroundings. There's also a mile-long blue walk line, designed to help and encourage people to lead a healthy lifestyle, perfect for a leisurely stroll or an invigorating jog. There's one drawback: the lack of public toilets. This can be a bit inconvenient for visitors, especially those with young children. I believe there are some in the leisure centre but if it is close, you won't have access. Overall this park is truly a place that enriches the lives of the local communities and reminds us of the beauty and tranquility that nature provides.
Jay S — Google review
Decent park to visit, plenty of ducks and squirrels to see. Has a big pond and a leisure centre on the premises. There are swings, table tennis table and other activities you can use. Has free parking via the back entrance which can easily get full in the summer/spring.
ErenY786 — Google review
An oasis in a busy inner city. This park is the life and soul of an otherwise very hectic and fast paced city. Its very clean and tidy. Great for runs, walks and kids to play. Theres a cricket ground, leisure centre, kids play area and football/ basket ball courts.
Jahan — Google review
A large and wonderful public park with children's games, seating, a cricket field, a basketball and volleyball court, and other games. A good, large and comfortable place, and a wonderful swan lake in the middle.
Ahmad A — Google review
This park is a fantastic spot to hang out with friends and family! Whether you want to relax or play some games, it's the perfect place to enjoy time together.
Arjun S — Google review
It was a pleasant experience to visit this beautiful park. It's in the middle of residential areas, reasonably large with hilly terrain. The walkways are wide. There are two beautiful small lakes with plenty of ducks to feed. There is a kids' play area and a court for basketball/football practice. I loved it.
ProGamer A — Google review
Pretty park, kept clean. There is a bridge that leads to more of the park, cricket happens here as well. Quite a few paths and a nice place to walk dogs. Lots of wildlife here and the birds are all used to people being around. Lake in the middle is very pretty.
P S — Google review
The park is very big, natural and beautiful with playground and different side attractions including art works. It is ideal place for a family picnic or large gathering as it's spacious and clean. Handsworth park is worth visiting. Check out some of the pictures I took.

This picturesque setting caters to anglers of every skill level, offering both day and season tickets for those looking to enjoy recreational or competitive fishing. One of the best fisheries in the Midlands. Plenty of lakes to choose from. all with good, sturdy pegs. plenty of pegs where you can park right behind the shop has a good selection of tackle and bait the cafe has a good selection of food at a good price the staff are all helpful and friendly. well worth a visit

A great fishery. A good day out, well planned pegs, nice fish.
T H — Google review
Large number of lakes to choose from. Pay at clubhouse for day tickets. Frequently used for matches. Nets (for matches only) need to be dipped. Cafe and small tackle shop. Fishery pellets only. Small cafe. Parking in allocated car parks/bays near lakes. Highly recommended.
Les W — Google review
Had an absolute fantastic 24hrs on Molands ! Had originally booked on big Gearys but arrived at the lodge to learn there was a match on , the gentleman that met me at the counter could not have been nicer ! He had saved me a peg on big gearys if I still wanted to fish there as , in his words , didn’t want to ruin my day . How sound is that ! He gave me the option to fish on Molands and I took it , couldn’t have been happier with the resulting session ! Caught my PB Mirror and a lot of big commons . Beautifully kept waters and grounds, fantastic selection of tackle and bait on offer at the lodge (breakfast looks amazing too) and even better staff . Can’t imagine a better place to fish . Only 15 mins away from me in Coventry and is my all time fave fishery ! Fair play guys , fair play
Dan B — Google review
What a brilliant location. Nice welcoming bailiff. Lots of ponds to choose from and they are all unique. I went on a Friday as I like the peace and quiet, I understand there are lots of matches on the weekend but the shear size of the place means there shouldn’t actually be an issue in finding a quiet swim. I fished molands by the scarecrow and had a dozen F1’s on the method along with 30 silvers with maggots on the float. The pricing is reasonable also and they do night fishing which I want to try soon. I think this will become my local as opposed to Blythe and Alverchurch. See you soon!
Special B — Google review
Love this fishery. Different pools to fish where u can try every method and staff are friendly. Plus stays open till 20:00 at moment
Jonj0e — Google review
A wonderful secluded fishery well stocked with plenty of healthy fish to suit everyone's needs, I did catch a beautiful little mirror carp that had its mouth destroyed, I really can't understand the mentality of some"anglers" who treat small fish so badly, I even found some wonderful shrooms
Michael H — Google review
Great place for fishing. I regularly go and fish the larger pool there are lots of diffrent pools for all anglers and types of fishing. The water quality is good and surrounding clean and tidy. Pegs could do with a bit of modernising and slabs are uneve. And slope to water. Parking is close to pegs. Had lots of silver and nearly a few car from bread on the top. Will be back again soon

A beautiful park with stunning nature. This place is really well looked after — very clean and full of greenery. There are some rare trees that make it feel quite special. It’s a lovely spot for a walk or just to spend some time outdoors. Highly recommend!

Very friendly and lovely looking hotel .it would have been 5 star if our room was had a double bed rather than 2 singles pushed together. Quite dark in the room but not a problem as it fitted with the theme really. We were ground floor and the hall smelled a little damp. Reception and restaurant staff were very friendly . The area was pretty too. Nice walks and the bonus is the guy who offers very affordable punting . Very knowledgeable and kind. We done the medieval banquet and enjoyed ourselves. Can recommend visiting the hotel and the experience .

Such a beautiful park with woodlands, ponds with ducks and a centre with cafe, toilets, shops etc! We really enjoyed our time walking in the woods area with massive gorgeous trees around us! The ducks and doves and swans were enjoying the duck food we bought from the info centre for just £1/bag, although we saw some people giving their children sandwiches and bread to chuck at the ducks which was sad to see. A stunning place!! Definitely worth the visit!!

Coombe Abbey Country Park is a beautiful and peaceful place to explore. The gardens, lake, and woodland walks are perfect for relaxing or enjoying nature. The historic abbey building adds extra charm to the stunning landscape. A lovely spot for a family day out, picnic, or quiet stroll — truly one of Warwickshire’s gems!

It was a pleasant visit, where we arrived by chance. The park itself is very beautiful, where you can charge your soul, and if you are going to stay at the hotel you will be spoiled. The lake is full of life, different birds, and even a gondola ride. I liked it and recommend that you set aside a whole day to visit this area.
Lauran M — Google review
Beautiful woodlands, nature at its best! The trees were absolutely fascinating and added to the charm. Great for peaceful strolls, picnics and relaxing in the fresh air. The car park was easy to find and reasonably priced. A perfect spot for nature lovers.
Mi M — Google review
My wife and I recently spent an afternoon at Coombe Abbey Country Park, and it turned out to be one of those places that leaves a lasting impression. What struck us most was the variety within the grounds – one moment you’re walking beneath tall trees in the woodland, the next you’re stepping out into wide, open fields with sweeping views across the countryside. The contrast makes every part of the walk feel fresh and engaging. The woodland paths are beautifully looked after, offering a calm, shaded route that feels almost timeless. Once we reached the edges of the park, we were rewarded with what looked like golden wheat fields, stretching out into the horizon. It’s a stunning sight and gave us that wonderful sense of space you don’t often get so close to the city. Around the lake and ponds, there’s plenty of activity with swans and ducks to feed, and we particularly enjoyed stopping at the bird hide – a quiet spot that gave us time to slow down and watch the wildlife. For those after something livelier, the Go Ape course adds a bit of excitement, but it blends in neatly with the surroundings rather than dominating them. The practical side of things is well thought out too. There are toilets on site, which makes longer visits easy and stress-free. The ice cream shop deserves a special mention – after a long walk, treating ourselves to a cone felt like the perfect finishing touch. Parking was also simple and reasonably priced, with plenty of availability. All in all, Coombe Abbey Country Park offers a mix of tranquility, natural beauty, and good facilities. It’s the kind of place where you can enjoy a simple walk yet come away feeling as though you’ve had a proper day out. For us, it was a wonderful way to spend time together, and it’s somewhere we’ll happily return to.

My mother-in-law and I visited this place on a warm day, as we specifically chose to come when the weather was nice so that we could take in and enjoy the views of the lake and the golf course. The food was lovely and hot. My mother-in-law asked for mushy peas, although what arrived was a mix of poor mushy and whole peas, which was disappointing. I also feel that the staff should bring drinks from the bar to your table, rather than customers having to collect them themselves. Other than that, the food was very nice and the overall experience was pleasant. I would definitely recommend this place to family and friends for a relaxed lunch outing.

Fancied chilling out Sunday afternoon/evening and wanted to go somewhere chilled relaxing and not so busy. This was just the place. West midlands golf course. Didn't eat here, but had a nice drink in the evening sunshine, after walking around the lake. Lovely clean restaurant/bar with friendly staff. Excellent outside seating area. Have eaten here previously and would happily recommend a visit.

My wife and I visited here for afternoon lunch. A beautiful place situated in fields, a golf course and a lake. There is a large carpark with ample parking. A young lad served us who was polite and friendly. From the menu for starters we had Soup of the Day which was Carrots and Coriander served with a Bun and butter. Our main course was Brazen Lamb Shank and Vegetarian dish of the week. The portions are quite filling but for dessert I enjoyed a Apple pie with cream and my wife Profiteroles with chocolate sauce and cream. After our lunch we took a stroll around the lake. There is fishing as there were several anglers sat around the lake. A nice afternoon which we recommend to everyone and we will come again. They do have live singers in the Summer months. This is something else we will look forward to.

We had lunch there and were really impressed with quality of food, the relaxed yet efficient and helpful attention of the staff and the very pleasant ambience of the restaurant. Altogether a very enjoyable experience.

Had a good night out, it was a bit like being at a wedding, if you know what I mean. Drinks were reasonable, apart from Guinness that has nearly £7 a pint. Main courses were good, starters and puds ok. The staff worked their socks off and were very good. We went to a party night and we were disappointed that the band was only on for an hour of the night.
Deborah B — Google review
It is a very pleasant combination between a Golf Club, restaurant and fishing lake. Despite of the airplanes, passing every 3 to 5 minutes and trains around 10 minutes, it is not a noise place. The restaurant is clean, good food and service. You can enjoy your beer watching a golf game or somebody fishing. During my visit, for about 2 hours, I've seen at least 5 good fish captures, so the lake will satisfy the needs of any fisherman. Still for such a beautiful place they can improve the cleaning condition in the toilets. The place has a good parking place and access by car direct on the lake side. If you want to go fishing. The price for a day is 8 GBP. You have the option to stay even over night on the lake, but not advisable because of mosquito. Overall, I can recommend it as one of the best places in this area, to enjoy a day with your family.

This park combines modern style and wild nature. It is very well maintained. The morning and evening singing of birds is fascinating. Migratory birds find rest here. I recommend visiting this park and enjoying the rest in nature.

This is a great park which is not far from the town centre of Solihull. There is also a nice big car park too with 3 hours free parking. The park itself leads through to Malvern which carries on around and up towards to the town centre. There’s a lovely lake which has benches by the side to just sit and enjoy the peace and quiet and the wild life too. Generally a lovely area to walk around and unwind whatever time of year. A clean park which is big enough to go round a few times to get 10,000 steps in and walk over 3.2 miles. Loved the lake. There is a park with swings, slides etc right at the rear of the park. Lots of car parking as there are different entrances I would highly recommend. There's nice paths for either bikes or walking

Really nice place for a walk. I live a few towns over and had never been. , there's a cafe and a large kids playground which is great. Loads of places to walk, several park areas and a wetland area. Limited toilet facilities and the car park is tiny though. Car parking is free for the 1st 3 hours and they got an attendant wandering around. Would definitely recommend.

Beautiful and Peaceful Park We always visit this park as it is spacious and well-maintained it is. There's plenty of open green space, which makes it perfect for a relaxed stroll with your children and dogs. The playground is a hit with kids – clean, safe, and full of fun equipment. One of the highlights is definitely the lake. It’s home to swans, ducks, and a variety of birds, making it a peaceful spot for birdwatching or just sitting by the water. The walking paths around the lake are ideal for anyone who enjoys a scenic walk – and it’s very dog-friendly, too! I saw several happy pups walking with their owners and even a few enjoying a splash near the shore.

Elmdon Park is a fantastic place to visit, especially if you’re a dog walker or just enjoy being outdoors. There’s so much open land to explore, making it perfect for long, relaxing walks. One of the highlights is the lake – the walk along it is particularly beautiful during sunset, with gorgeous reflections across the water. The park is well looked after and feels very peaceful, making it a great spot to unwind. A little tip for visitors: be mindful around the swans, as they can sometimes be aggressive, so it’s best to keep a safe distance. Overall, a lovely local park worth visiting.

Amazing place! I deem this to be the park to find most wildlife in Birmingham I found herons egrets a rabbit a woodpecker mice tadpoles tiny frogs big frogs a fox and even a crayfish? And in the good weather seasons I take a walk here every evening! I even feed ducks and found adorable baby ducks coots moorhens and swans! This place used to have geese but now I don't know where they are.. But that's ok... there are also berries that grow here they're pretty sweet! And apples! But.. the apples never seem to ripe.

Staying with friends in Solihull I was looking for a place for a walk and was introduced to Elmdon Park. This place is huge with loads of paths and trails. There’s a play area for the kids, a large pond or 2, football area and when you climb the hill there’s good views over the area. You could easily make up a 5 km walk. This park leads on to other open areas for an even bigger walk. Dog and kid friendly.

Another nice park locally to myself.. Situated in Halesowen on the southern edge of the West Midlands urban conurbation. It is a 57-hectare public park, Site of Special Scientific Interest, containing the remains of one of the most important and influential landscapes of the 18th century. The garden at The Leasowes was designed by the poet William Shenstone beginning in 1743 and continuing until his death in 1763. Shenstone created his garden from farmland; forming a diverse landscape of wooded valleys, open grassland, lakes and streams. Today, The Leasowes is of major historic significance ranking in importance with landscapes such as Blenheim and Stowe, and being listed as Grade 1 on the English Heritage 'Register of Parks and Gardens of Special Historic Interest in England'.

I have never seen so much rubbish in a park in the UK. The place is full of litter, and it looks like the local authority is not taking care of it at all. The lake is in a terrible state, more like a swamp than something you’d want to enjoy. It’s really disappointing, and a shame because this park could be beautiful if it were maintained properly. The council should enforce strict fines for people who litter and take responsibility for keeping the park and lake clean. At the moment, it’s not worth visiting.

Its a nice park but council have let us down again. Actually, the whole community has let themselves down as the pond used to be clean but now wreaks and it could've easily been cleaned up by now. The swings are also missing now in the children play area so even less for kids to play with. I suppose since we dont have to pay to go there, the council aren't interested in maintaining it

Not the nicest park or place in my experience. It does not look the most welcoming and it is also quite secluded so it does not feel the safest place to be when on your own. For myself that was not an issue but I can understand why this may effect others. It doesn't look very appealing when on approach and compared to similar places, I would not recommend this one.

Lovely hidden area. Lots of wildlife and birds. Perfect walk if you have young children or a small dog. Great for a quick walk. Only let down by the people that drop litter and don't pick up their dog poop.

It has a lovely short walk around the one lake with a grassy area to throw the ball for my dog Stella. Then a larger lake with different types of ducks& other birds around. There are benches around the place to take a rest or take in the views. There are other areas to walk around&take in the nature. Along with a few friendly squirrels who come quite close if you have their favoured food? Well worth a visit for a walk, feed ducks&animals, walk your dogs, or just go sit by the lakes&take in the scenery!

Brilliant camping site. Lovely walks and views here. There are alpacas and birds and cows too. The toilets and showers are down a little hill, but seeing the animals makes it worthwhile. Facilities are clean and adequate, and they even have a cafe. A really lovely place to relax and unwind, highly recommend to everyone!

Just returned from a second visit, over the 2 visits I caught in the region of 40 carp, 75% of them busted up with severe mouth damage. Has potential to be really good, pools need netting and stock thinning out. Cafe good Bailiff and Owner pleasant enough Peaceful and left alone to enjoy a days fishing.
K W — Google review
Had a hectic mornings fishing on the top pool, caught loads of carp to low doubles, great fun on light tackle, smaller hooks than I’m normally used to but fishery has a maximum size ten hook rule. Nice local place to go and get a few runs. Honest fair rating of 3 stars due to damage to a lot of the fishes mouths, which is a shame, the fishery has potential if stock could be thinned out in the top pool, put the smaller fish into the match pools perhaps?

This place is beautiful, I usually do a morning fishing session and have breakfast in the cafe. The food is very tasty and cooked fresh to order. I don't think I've blanked once, lots of fish to be caught. Plenty of tench and carp. It can be very busy and a little over fished at times but it can't be helped when the place is so lovely. The owners are very welcoming and enjoy a friendly chat & it was refreshing to see permits and licences being checked 👍🏻

Booked a cabin for a short stay and we really enjoyed ourselves. The staff are so friendly and accomodating and the cabin was lovely and has everything you need, just bring your bedding and a torch really. The alpacas are super cute and we enjoyed feeding them, and toilets were very clean which was great. Cafe is good value, although not too many options if you are veggie (but I didn't mind this that much as I imagine not too many vegetarian visitors). Nice scenery and cute animals, will definitely be back :-)

Small but well looked after campsite. Showers and toilets but you need to walk five minutes from the pitches. Beautiful surroundings with fishing ponds and walks around the site. Cafe on site . Would give 5 stars if the number of Campers was reduced a little to avoid overcrowding the small site. Wouldn't hesitate to use again .

Birmingham Airport, established in the 1980s, boasts strong local and long-distance bus connections as well as its own train station. It is conveniently located in the heart of Birmingham. The area offers a variety of family-friendly activities including children's clubs, play areas, museums, nature spots, and entertainment venues. Additionally, there are numerous dining options such as Dirty Martini which provides a cozy atmosphere and serves food along with an extensive selection of liquors.
Hello pretty much, I had a great experience taking my flight from Birmingham airport to Perpignan yesterday ! I arrived at the airport around 11:30am and my flight was at 1:40pm. I never came to this airport before but I didn’t struggle at all to find where I had to go for the departures place. The security was easy to find and everyone was pretty kind with me there, explaining everything and helping me whenever I needed. After security, waiting for my plane I had access to a huge commercial place. We can buy a lot of different things you can see on the photos and we can eat pretty much everything. Such a good idea ! I had to wait 1 hour and a half but it was so quick with all of these things to wait. Thank you Birmingham and United Kingdom for this beautiful Airport ✈️🛩️

Great place. Perfectly located airport. 15 minutes and I am there. No traffic. Great parking. Great short term pick up/drop off zone. After renovation - looks amazing. Very good security check system. Even when it looks that it is a looooooot of people you go smoothly. Perfect for travellers who are annoyed with queues. After renovation I have never bought fast track in this airport
Diana — Google review
This was a great airport to fly out from, connected with the train station by a people mover cable car type system! Electronic departure boards and boarding gate signage is frequent to help navigate around, water refillable points can be found across the airport too. Seating is comfy for sitting back on or some for lying down, toilets are kept clean themselves. Designs like the pattern on the wall showing a steam train running to the end are innovative and queuing system for the flight was efficient where we walked straight there, security went fine although we were told not to take pictures in the baggage area maybe due to the possibility of any breaches.
K. P — Google review
I recently traveled through Birmingham Airport from Abu Dhabi via Istanbul. As a tourist and other nationality they asked some questions about travel purposes, return dates, stay locations and it was easy for me. Too slow and rush at emigration, baggage handling was fast, trolly required to pay, public transportation are available. The ticket rate was high if compared with Heathrow.
Abdulsalam P — Google review
Birmingham Airport prioritizes function over flair. The facilities are small and dated, with minimal shopping and dining options. It serves its primary purpose-getting you on your flight-but don't expect anything more.
Joti C — Google review
Very low quality, one of the worst in the UK. Very slow services. After 23:30, no information desk. After 24:00 no transportation to the train station until the morning. My flight was delayed so I missed the train and I spent all night at the airport. No place to sit apart from the floor. Toilets filthy. No signs to find access to the coach.
James D — Google review
I knew Birmingham airport wouldn't be the best, but today i had the absolute worst experience. The hall for the bag drop Was never show, it said zone the entire time, a letter was never given. Staff couldn't help me either, I was told to just wait. After touring all zones for the 3rd time one display had changed to the airline I needed. Already running late bc of the earlier matter I made mh way to security. The airport website clearly stated liquids up to 2l would be fine. Still my bag had to be inspected further. Turns out liquids up to 2l are alright but need to be tested individually. Would be good to communicate that in advance to plan in the time. The toilets are run down. The doors barely close, so someone walked in on me. Furthermore a hook would be nice so handbags dont have to be left on the floor. Overall I would avoid Birmingham Airport whenever I can.
Jogo — Google review
I recently flew through Birmingham Airport (BHX) in the UK and had a mixed experience. On one hand, it’s conveniently located and user‑friendly in certain aspects, but on the other hand there were a few issues worth noting. What I liked: The airport is relatively easy to navigate with a single terminal layout, which made finding check‑in, security and my gate more straightforward than at some larger UK hubs. Its rail‑link is strong according to recent independent surveys, making it a good option for travelers using public transport. International Airport Review During my visit, staff at check‑in were courteous and helpful when I asked about luggage allowance and boarding gate details. What could be better: Security and check‑in queues were longer than I expected. Several reviewers have flagged this as a repeated issue, particularly during busy times or while ongoing construction is in progress. Some facilities feel outdated or under‑resourced — for example, seating near gates was limited and a few retail/café areas felt crowded or lacking. Drop‑off and pick‑up zones, as well as car‑park signage and access, seemed confusing at times; this added a bit of stress when arriving early. Overall thoughts: If you’re flying from or through Birmingham Airport and arrive with plenty of time, the trip can be quite smooth. The accessibility and straightforward terminal design are definite pluses. However, if you’re cutting it close to your flight or travelling at peak times, I’d advise giving yourself extra buffer time due to potential queues and minor facility drawbacks.

Such an oasis. Three large pools all teaming with wildlife. Not far from Russell Hall hospital. A few fishermen there. Kids playing. I’ve read good and bad things about here. Just had a walk down memory lane.... My grandparents, grate auntie on nans side and grate uncle and aunt on grandads, all lived down Blewitt St. So I aways over middle pool, catching frogs/toads, the edge of the pool were black with tadpoles, watching my brother fishing, in the 1980s. There have been a lot of landscaping since I was last there, it looks now more loved and cared for. Lots of dog walkers, some people were fishing it was nice remembering. I'm a keen photographer so I have taken lots of photos.

This charming spot features an array of independent businesses, including a lovely clothing shop called Beautifully Ebbs, a florist, and even a pottery studio where you can unleash your creativity. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, making it perfect for leisurely visits.
Great experience with Mathew, very patient and helpful. A lovely way to spend a few hours with my wife.

Brambles Florists is great and staff superb - well worthy of a 5 ⭐ rating. Not sure that the title Craft Centre is still accurate. I used to spend ages walking around admiring the many craft folk in residence but it seems to be more aimed at the Equestrian field nowadays. That said I will return for flowers as required.

Rather disappointing. Not much there. The cafe had closed 15 minutes early. Car park is paid. Won’t be returning sadly.

Great little independent shopping units, parking is available and free between 9 and 5

This is no longer a ' craft centre'.Website needs to be updated so people don't waste their time/ money ( car parking fee) on seeing closed units and a rundown shamble of a once quant and pretty day out.

No mass made products here, handicraft shops and a tea room. Not very big but worth a visit and then walking around Earlswood lake.

Hi there, I am the owner of the clothing shop Beautifully Ebbs located at the Craft Center. Just to clear up any confusion, this is a lovely place to visit with a mix of appointment based businesses, a unique clothing shop, a florist and gift shop where you can "mooch", a gorgeous make your own pottery place, Barbers, Jungle hut, a lovely cafe - restaurant , and more. All of us are independent business which means that sometimes we will be closed, but majority of the day everyone is open, just check our opening times! The parking is also free for four hours with a code the shops give you due to the car park being accessible by the general public. If you have chance to visit us we'd love to see you!

Lovely place. Only visited the coffee shop but the coffee was lovely and although a small centre, they had oat milk which was great as I often struggle when visiting places that aren't large corporate chains for coffee. It's surprising how many places still don't offer alternatives for people with dairy allergies so fair play to this cafe. The atmosphere in there was also very warm and friendly. Will definitely visit again when I'm in the area

Nestled next to Berkswell Railway Station, Lavender Hall Fishery in Coventry has been enchanting visitors since its inception in 1998. This charming venue features five picturesque lakes, a cozy café, and a well-stocked tackle shop. Recently, I embarked on my first open water swim here after discovering it through social media. The location is easy to find and boasts a serene atmosphere that instantly puts you at ease.
We had a truly fantastic weekend in our motorhome—choosing the electric option was worth every extra penny. From the moment we arrived, the hospitality was outstanding: the family welcomed us and made us feel genuinely at home. We watched carp after carp being pulled from the fishing lake which was such a peaceful pleasure. I braved my very first open‑water swim and absolutely loved it. In fact, it was so good that I’ve already booked to return this week to swim again. Breakfast at the café each morning was a treat—delicious food in a cozy setting. We’ll be sure to visit there again, and in the motorhome too. A heartfelt thank you for a truly memorable weekend—we can’t wait to be back!

WOW, what an amazing peaceful little oasis! We had a wonderful time swimming here this afternoon. The water was cool and clean, and we enjoyed picking a few blackberries as we swam around the little brambly wooded islands. Was a pleasure meeting Debbie and her family, very happy to learn that this whole place is a family-run business. Everyone was so warm and friendly, really brightened our day! Remember to book and pay on the website before you come! Can't wait to be back again soon! Thanks to Debbie and family!

For the same price as a swim session in one of the city's leisure centres you can circumnavigate a 200m lake. It's as clean as a whistle and has awnings to sit under and relax after your swim. Plus firepits which will be great in winter!

Went today for my first ever open water swim , I found this place on FB and shared it with my friends who came with me. Easy to find, lovely setting everyone was so friendly , really enjoyed the swim loved that you could stand in it , as I was a bit unsure to begin with. You are given an hour slot , I didn't make an hour as I did get a bit cold ,but warmed up with a cuppa and a cake from the cafe. Was a beautiful warm day.. I did dry out say by the bank , then realised I had been nibbled on by midges. Will definitely return .

The fishery boasts two main lakes: the expansive Arrow Lake and the quaint House Pool, which spans 1.5 acres. While fishing can sometimes be challenging—likely due to varying skill levels—the experience remains rewarding.

First time visit to this fishery. My grandson and I had an enjoyable time catching mirror and ghost carp. Beautiful location. The staff were very friendly explaining the rules and providing the landing nets and mats.

Took my son here for the day and was pleasantly surprised. The place is neat, tidy and rubbish free with a good selection of pools to fish. The cafe cum tackle shop is conveniently placed and seemed to be well stocked, also reasonably priced. All the staff I encountered were friendly and approachable making us feel most welcome. I would recommend this place to anyone.

I don’t usually leave reviews but this definitely warrants it! Having fished a lot of New Zealand, I was keen to get in amongst what the UK has to offer. We hired all the gear (rod, tackle, chairs, bait ect) for an extremely affordable price! I’d highly recommend having a go at the fishing pole with elastic! Definitely a new feather to the cap. John was great! From the get go, he really put the time in to guide and ensure we were well equipped to have an enjoyable session. We fished the Horseshoe lake with great success. Though the weather didn’t play ball, it turned out to be great fishing. If you’re looking for a supportive fishing environment, good banter and big fish, definitely worth a go!

First time at Alvechurch and I fished House pool for 4 1/2 hours. I pulled out 14 fish on F1 pellets, including a 20lb mirror. Great days angling at a really good venue, will definitely give it another go soon.

Nice place enjoyable day fishing
Dt9w T — Google review
Tough days fishing but I imagine my skill level is to blame for that. Arrow did fish well but it was slow, I think the other anglers struggled too. It was quite busy which I think put quite a lot of pressure on the fish close to the inner bank. Started catching using a method on the far bank which proved much more fruitful. The main chap (Mark I think) was very friendly, really welcoming and seemed genuinely happy to chat. Sandwich was nice and was brought to peg which is a nice touch. The new cabin looks great from afar and you’ve definitely got the right idea as I’ll be able to leave the wife in the hot tub whilst I get on with some angling. I’ve given 5 stars because they deserve it but my only gripe would be that it felt a little busy, everyone rushing in first thing, queuing up and then legging it to the pegs. How can I deduct a star for making the place so popular though! Thanks to the team. Will certainly be back again.

The owner’s passion for aquatics shines through as he shares his nearly two decades of experience with visitors, making it a welcoming space for both beginners and seasoned hobbyists.
Hands down one of the best marine aquatics stores in the country. I’d go as far as saying Tee has the best selection of corals in the UK ,absolutely stunning range. Excellent service, family-friendly, and always welcoming. Skip the Sea Life Centre, head to Tee’s Reef instead!

Best fish shop in the world. Tee and his staff are amazing, and so knowledgeable. We come here very regularly we really wouldn’t go elsewhere now. Great choice of fish, corals, salts, liquids salts, tanks and everything in between. Very kind and friendly 5⭐️

Me and my Mum popped in as I’m considering starting a marine tank. The owner is fantastic! He is knowledgeable and so passionate about the hobby that he started almost two decades ago. I like the ideas that he takes on students to share his extensive knowledge with. He is not pushy to sell his products and I seen that his prices are a lot cheaper than some of the well known pet store items. I’m still doing my research on marine aquariums and when I’ve decided to take the plunge (excuse the pun!), without a doubt, this is the place I will be using to buy my set up, fish and maintenance products. Thanks for showing us around and shearing your knowledge with us 😀

Good fishery. But has not been fishing to well at the moment 25/3/21. Fish social distancing from my bait. But still had 10 good fish in 5 hrs.. Water cold and muddy from recent rain..There are 4 pools all containing plenty of good fish..from a few oz to 15lb + . Although they the pools Could do with some hard work doing to upgrading to fishing slabs and banks etc A good overall trimming and tidying of the trees and vegetation would make the fishing experience much better. There are porta loo toilets here also. Better than having none.. In dry weather you can drive to the upper pools and park by your peg. Pellets can be purchased from the attendant/bailiff. No Cafe or food for sale ..😬

Beyond fishing, Barston Lakes also hosts lively events like tribute nights that create a festive atmosphere with beautifully decorated spaces and delicious meals served promptly to guests.
I love fishing Barston Lake. Abundant carp up to 10lb and many up to 20lb. Well kept and a large lake with lots of bays. Pegs near the golf clubhouse, where you pay for your day ticket, gives you a nice view of golfers playing a challenging 18th hole over the lake. A must for carp anglers. MF
Malcolm F — Google review
Honest review from someone who has been over ten times: Staff are friendly and welcoming, facilities clean and available. Fishing on the west side of the lake is great for having a vehicle close, however other anglers will jump in the peg next to you on busier days. There is loads of rubbish in the car parks, some anglers don't bring nets, some use this as a place to blast music and drink alcohol. The management aren't too fussed about people poaching. However, the lake is highly stocked of carp and course fish and is great for a bend in the rods.
Matt — Google review
I arrived at Barston Lake at 5:00pm intending to purchase a full-price day ticket to fish for a few hours. When I approached Mark at the desk, I was told I couldn’t buy one because “too many people were abusing the system and staying longer than they should.” Instead, I was told I’d need to purchase a £25 annual night permit and then a 24-hour ticket—just to fish for 3 hours. Frankly, this is unacceptable. If the issue is people overstaying their tickets, that’s a management and enforcement problem—not something that should be pushed onto honest, local anglers simply looking to enjoy a peaceful evening by the water. Punishing everyone because of a few rule-breakers is lazy and unfair. Very disappointing experience.

I have been trying to contact this venue for several weeks. In spite of leaving messages on their answer phone, emailing them and leaving messages on their FB page and their website, no-one gets back to me. I have paid £27 to include one year's insurance and my first swim but no-one confirmed my booking. It states on their website if you turn up without an armband, you won't be allowed to swim, I haven't received an arm band. I have been ripped off as I've given them £27, so no, I'm not impressed at all. I have hand written to them requesting a refund and had nil response. I have a very poor view of them. There are plenty of other Midlands venues so I would definitely choose one of those over this shabby lot.

Great location, comfortable accommondation.we stayed in the Shepherds Hut which for two.people we found a bit small, luckily it was good weather so we could spend most of our stay sitting outside. The Hut was well stocked and tea, coffee, pint of milk and a packet of biscuits were provided!

Engine Pool, part of the scenic Earlswood trio of reservoirs, offers a delightful escape for nature enthusiasts and dog walkers alike. This expansive lake features well-maintained paths that are perfect for leisurely strolls while enjoying the serene surroundings. Birdwatchers may be thrilled to catch glimpses of unique species like the lesser-spotted woodpecker among its lush landscapes. However, recent concerns about water quality have raised alarms regarding local wildlife health, particularly affecting swans in distress due to pollution.
Fantastic place to walk your dog(s) and meet other dog walkers along the way. However, there's more routes than just the two lakes to walk your dog(s). My dogs are happy and will visit again.
L ( — Google review
Large lake with solid path running along edge. Fishing pegs regularly spaced on jettys. Lakeside walks are popular with the public especially with dogs. Not readily suited for pole fishing. Quality fish (lots of F1s). Car park (limited spaces) can be a long way from the pegs (higher the peg number the further away it is).
