National park
Sutton Park is a sprawling 2000-acre parkland featuring bike and bridle paths, as well as serene lakes, making it an ideal destination for walking, jogging, cycling, and angling. With a rich history dating back to the medieval era when it was under royal ownership and used as a deer park by Norman kings, Sutton Park offers not only natural beauty but also historical significance.
Went for a 5 K jog on the recommendation of local friends. Wonderful place in the sun. Mostly tarmac paths with some gravel ones. Watch out for the cows. I have heard that there are ponies as well. Parking is free at the moment. However, where I parked, I needed to be aware of potholes in the parking areas. One nasty one on the narrow entrance road. But don't let that put you off. Get there and enjoy it in the sun.
Craig T — Google review
It’s a really beautiful park. Honestly, anyone who visits and gets a chance to try the grilled calamari here will find it worth it. The atmosphere is incredible, and it’s also right by the lake, which adds to the charm. It’s a very scenic spot. There’s a restaurant nearby in case anyone gets hungry, and overall, the park is huge. Behind it, there’s also a forest — as you can probably tell from the photo — where you might feel like you could get lost, but in reality, it’s easy to find your way back. The landscape is stunning and perfect for anyone who’s craving a bit of adventure. If I had to point out something negative, it would be because of animals like cows and others roaming around, which means there’s quite a lot of droppings scattered around. I think it needs to be cleaned more regularly so the park can reach its full potential. Even so, if you live nearby, it’s a great place to visit every weekend, especially since options are limited. In general, it just needs a bit of cleaning — maybe during the week. But overall, it’s a wonderful place to visit
Giorgos K — Google review
It's a very extensive park. The park is huge and there's a chance you can definitely get lost if you go off the main paths, but there is some signage. Nevertheless, it's a very beautiful park and great for exploring and getting in touch with nature. There was some decent foliage, but I found most off the beaten paths. Managed to capture a few photos on my visit.
Brandon E — Google review
I've been coming to Sutton Park for years with it being local to me. Over the last few months I've started getting keen in Wildlife Photography particularly birds. Pictured are some of the birds/wildlife I've seen on my walks recently. There have been many more. Listed are, Mandarin Duck, Blackcap, Song Thrush, Robin, Buzzard. I have seen many other species of birds, although not photographed yet

The best and highlight of my trip to Birmingham! The park is so beautiful and peaceful, it has plenty of entrances, has cows grazing and has a few cafe and restaurants in the park itself.
Bleubirdy99 — Google review
So much to see here, you can take a different direction and take in all the new sights. Plus there is kids parks, ice cream vans and plenty of parking around ❤️
Beth L — Google review
Kind of stumbled on the nature reserve park while trying to locate another park and ended up loving it. Got to see some ponies which was my first time seeing them and learnt a bit of the British history as at the 18th century and how 'Bowers' were constructed as channels to entice ducks for shooting. It’s a perfect place for hiking and jogging. I almost got lost tho😅 The land space is quite massive. Walked on a river bed which was already dried, knew from the pebbles. Totally enjoyed the walk and kicking pebbles as I went

Such a cute place! We want to go back to sit in the restaurant by the water edge.

Lickey Hills Country Park is a vast woodland area with numerous walking trails and a sculpture walk. It boasts an impressive collection of over 380 species of flowering plants. Located just outside the village of Barnt Green, this 524-acre park offers various woodland paths suitable for leisurely strolls or more challenging hikes. After exploring the hills, visitors can unwind at the nearby village's restaurants, pubs, and cafes or enjoy a picnic within the park.
Lovely woods with a deep forest feeling! Easy to access from Bromsgrove by bus and Barntgreen by walking. Bluebells are like a magic and have marvellous smell in spring, around beginning of May. Have visitor center with a toilet and car park but doesn't have café so bring your own water and meals for a picnic.

Very beautiful scenic walk. 3 different trails to follow. Yellow for short walk. Blue trail for about an hour walk. And red for a longer walk. Only downside is no cafe for a hot cuppa. There is about 4 tables and some chairs inside. Lots of space for picnic outside. The playground is not very big but the kids had fun cuz of the zip line.

Lickey Hills Country Park is a lovely place to relax and unwind. It’s perfect for spending quality time with family and friends, whether you want to enjoy a picnic, go for a walk, or simply take in the fresh air. The atmosphere is pleasant and peaceful, with plenty of open space and beautiful natural surroundings. A great spot for a day out.

Excellent space for a long walk, beautiful scenery and awesome if you wanna go mushroom picking for culinary mushrooms and the fun type. I found a massive kings Bolete Mushroom and was able to eat half which was delicious and sell the other half for £40!!!! It's also a great space for wildlife photography and just getting away

Absolutely a must visit space...beautiful vistas and trails.. Courteous friendly walkers and the the lovely duck pond cafe... Love it there at the Lickey's.. Go and decompress and forget everything for a moment 🌲🌳🌳🌲

We had a great time. They have a nice play area for the children, swings, slide and more. Green grass everywhere, great for picnics and relaxing outside. Nice clean toliet facilities, changing room and disabled access. As we were travelling with kids with walked the yellow trail, would advise to wear suitable foot wear, the trail is roughly 45 minutes. If you have a Stroller, I would advice making a sure you have someone with you, as there are afew steps you may need help with. I would definitely go again.

Cannon Hill Park in Birmingham is a top destination, offering a wide range of activities on its 250 acres. Visitors can enjoy tennis courts, a bowling green, boating on the lake, mini-golf, and scenic walking trails. The park also features the MAC arts center and expansive open spaces. Families will appreciate the playgrounds and model homage to the Elan Valley in Wales. The vibrant flower beds add to the park's allure as well.
Cannon Hill Park is a perfect blend of nature, culture, and recreation. Whether you’re seeking relaxation, exercise, or entertainment, this park delivers on all fronts. Highly recommended for both locals and visitors to Birmingham. The park is beautifully maintained, with expansive lawns, woodlands, and ornamental gardens. The vibrant flower beds and tranquil lakes provide a peaceful retreat from the hustle and bustle of city life. It is especially picturesque during spring and summer, offering numerous photo opportunities.

A Perfect Sunny Day at Cannon Hill Park, Birmingham My wife and I recently spent a sunny afternoon at Cannon Hill Park in Birmingham, and it was truly a wonderful experience. From the moment we arrived, we were struck by the park's stunning natural beauty – wide open green spaces, beautiful flowerbeds, and the gentle sound of birds singing and water trickling through the stream. It’s the perfect escape from the noise of the city. We took a long, relaxing walk through the park, and every step was a joy. The fresh air, peaceful atmosphere, and scenic views made it feel like a small piece of countryside right in the heart of Birmingham. Along the way, we passed several charming coffee shops and an ice cream van, which added a lovely touch to our visit – ideal for taking a short break and enjoying a treat. One of the highlights is the presence of the historic MAC (Midlands Arts Centre), located within the park. It offers exhibitions, performances, and a café with outdoor seating, perfect for enjoying a drink while soaking in the view. There are also picturesque bridges, boating lake areas, and even a small funfair for families. Whether you’re going for a walk, having a picnic, or just sitting on a bench to relax, Cannon Hill Park offers something for everyone. We truly enjoyed every single minute and would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Birmingham – it’s a hidden gem that captures both the beauty of nature and the charm of the city's history. Cannon zHill Park is one of the biggest parks situated in Moseley, not far from the cricket ground. It has all the usual park features, a lake with ducks, tree lined paths, boating area, floral areas, a picnic playground, toilets and an access to the MAC, an arts centre. We enjoyed a contemplative walk through the park after learning of a bereavement. The park appears dog friendly and it has many lawns for picnics.
Mal333 — Google review
A nice balance between a old-fashioned (and very good) parkland, with big old trees, including a Redwood, and totally fun things for all ages. I really enjoyed this park - the rides looked like fun, and "Swan Lake" was spotless. Toilets & cafés were good.
Calamitysteph — Google review
Lovely massive park with lots to do a massive playground packed in the summer ☀️ months toilets 🚻 are in the cafe which is quite expensive but nice kept clean apart from the massive poo 💩 in the mens. Very dog friendly but some people spoil it by not controlling there dog. Lots of benches for picnics paid parking on the front by animal area free for blue badge holders brilliant place 👏 👌

Experience was worth it, comes with certain caveats though for instance - Parking is an issue, also food carts are spread across the place but hard to get anything gotta wait in long ques etc. But hey you go there for sports! So you will have fun. Pro tip! Bring your binoculars 😉

Sandwell Valley Country Park, located just north of the city, offers 660 acres of diverse outdoor activities including woods, farmland, lakes and streams with hiking and biking trails. The park is a haven for wildlife enthusiasts with a hide operated by the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds where visitors can observe numerous bird species. Families can also enjoy interacting with friendly animals at the on-site farm.
There's a lot too do at this park, still haven't got all around it myself yet, but if you're looking for a place to stay all day with the kids then this is a good place to go. There's a children's park, a small and quirky fair ground, lovely and reasonable priced cafe, an adventure area, beautiful park with lakes and friendly swans. I enjoyed the rabbit village also the rabbits are so well looked after. There's also plenty of history to explore.
Romy H — Google review
I can't believe I've never been here before and it's only a few miles from home. There are some lovely walks, lakes with swans and ducks on and the motorway! The further you get into the woods the less you hear the motorway noise. Well worth a visit to enjoy nature and recharge your batteries. There are toilets in the courtyard by the tearoom and others near the cycle hire place. The tearoom is lovely and the staff are too. They're very friendly and accommodating.

Been to this place twice now and its always a pleasure, plenty of things to see and do. There are a wide range of activities to do from mountain biking, walking trails, visit the farm and use the outdoor gym facilities. There is ample parking and its only 40p for 1 hour or 80p for 2. There are toilets scattered around so people visiting for hours should be fine if they need to use them. I say its the best park in birmingham by far and a great day out for the family!!
ErenY786 — Google review
We had a lovely first visit with our daughter, it’s such a big park, so much to do and places to see. We had a walk around the rabbit village which was so much fun. The little houses were great and the park is superbly maintained and clean. We recommend visiting the tea rooms; friendly staff, great coffee and delicious cakes.
Adam B — Google review
Lovely park linked with forge farm. Shame there are some idiots that do not appreciate wild life and nature esp. large family setting a fire near the pond and trees cooking food in 2 large pots.
Barbara B — Google review
Lovely place for day out. Long walking tracks, lakes and pools. Parking is very reasonable
Habib R — Google review
Always a wonderful day out here. Some lovely walks around the pools and woods. Food from the courtyard cafe is always good and there is a great selection of cake too 😋 Parking is super cheap and very convenient. Great for kids of all ages, as well as adults who enjoy bird spotting or just out for a stoll.
Deborah Q — Google review
You have to pay to park in the park but honestly its like 50p an hour and its a gorgeous well kept space, and once you've walked around your feet will thank you that the cars closer. Amazing family day out, cheap and cheerful with a permanent funfair for little ones and sky trail adventure/ rock climbing type thing for big kids. Awesome spot!

Kingsbury Water Park, located in Sutton Coldfield, spans 600 acres and features 15 lakes that were formed from former gravel pits. The park is a haven for birdwatchers with its bird-watching hides and diverse birdlife. Visitors can explore the network of paths, bridleways, and marked cycle routes while enjoying the picturesque landscape.
Amazing water park with lots of activities for the family. Finding parking is easy enough and once you're there you can go on bike rides (also available to hire), go for a walk or jet ski. There's also a playground area for children, tourist centre and stunning views. We didn't want to wait in the queue for an ice cream so went to the cafe instead- where there is a good selection of food and drinks There was also a bouncy castle and bungee jumping available when we went Highly recommend a visit- you won't be disappointed
Sobia A — Google review
Lots of area to walk and explore. There are bikes and trikes to hire, ducks to feed and fishes to catch. There is a Good cafe, icecream shop and toilets there. There is jet ski stunts to watch for. And if you are lucky you might even see RC model boat racing happening at one of the members dedicated place. There is plenty of woodland and water body to explore. I would recommend for a day out with family
Kuruvilla V — Google review
Kingsbury Water Park is a wonderful place to visit and we had such a lovely day out. Even in the winter cold, the walks around the lakes were beautiful and perfect for taking the dog. The scenery is peaceful and well looked after, with plenty of information boards about the local wildlife and the nature of the lakes, which really added to the experience. We were lucky enough to catch a miniature boat race on the water, which was great fun to watch. The children’s play areas are brilliant, and the little railway is a real highlight – even though we didn’t go on it, it was still very entertaining to watch. The café was welcoming and served the most delicious hot chocolates, just what you need on a chilly day. Parking is £5 for the whole day, which we thought was excellent value. We’d definitely recommend a visit!
Hannah R — Google review
Can't beat Kingsbury Water Park. Always first thought of for a family day out, £5 parking all day! Huge park to go exploring with the kids, a good size playing area too! If you're lucky, you will see some baby ducks! Great for outdoor exploring, great for families, dog walkers, fishing, and so much more. Well looked after and always and enjoyable family day out.
E.BROWN — Google review
Nice park visited during school holidays hence it wasn’t easy finding a parking space at first. Free admission, paid £6 for parking. Well maintained walkways and many lakes, really nice place with a miniature train, playgrounds for the kids and a cafe, well worth a visit
Chipmunk A — Google review
Lovely place to walk around with plenty of parking in various areas. There is even a sailing club, so great to see. There is a giant play area for the children. There's even a little train.
Loulou V — Google review
What a fabulous place to get lost in! I walked from the campsite on a busy Sunday but met very few people until I reached the msin visitor car park. Here there were toilets, cafe, seating, a huge play area and a little train station. There's plenty of walks, lakes and wildlife and a great day out for young and old. Cafe was slow and seemed a bit inadequate, it took me a long time queuing just to get a takeout cup of tea. And it was difficult to try and follow the coloured trails as at junctions signposting was sometimes missing but these are minor issues.
Kyla F — Google review
It's a great place for a walk or a day out in the nature. There are plenty of activities (fishing, jet ski ing, cycling, etc) and cafés to eat. There is a small train operating around the water park. All day parking better March and October is £5.

Woodgate Valley Country Park, spanning over 450 acres of parkland, meadows, and woodland, offers a serene escape from the urban hustle and bustle of Birmingham. The park's rural charm is preserved through its diverse natural habitats and small pond that attract nature enthusiasts. Visitors can enjoy leisurely walks along the numerous footpaths and bridleways or engage in pony trekking. The park also features an urban farm with various animals, providing a unique experience for families and wildlife enthusiasts alike.
Quiet place for a walk. Nature beauty, natural rivers, greenery, horse riding, trekking were some of the activities you can enjoy here. Get fully recharged with fresh air and reduce stress.
Lincy K — Google review
Overall, it's a quaint and nice country park for walking and cycling. As is visible in the photos, there is a lush field area with horses, followed by a split path through a more densely wooded set of trails. It was a short but pleasant walk. Unfortunately the visitors centre seems to be temporarily closed when I visited. The trails are quite short, so it is more of a nice area for walking pets or light activity. Therefore, it's much less suitable for hiking and more intense trail enthusiasts. To summarise (despite the lack of the visitor centre), it was a short but enjoyable walk with some nice aesthetic points that kept me busy for a few hours. It's definitely worth a visit if it's a nice day and you're local to the area, but probably not worth travelling vast distances to experience.
Ashen E — Google review
We adore it here with my little one (18 months). The farm is only £2 to enter with lots of lovely animals to see and feed if you want to, food for them just 50p a bag. If you don't fancy the farm the walk down and along the stream is lovely and flat so ideal for any age (there is a slight incline returning to the car park but is very scenic so can amble along). Play area for littles is also lovely.

Woodgate Valley Farm is a breath of fresh air. The grassland is beautifully maintained and gives you a real countryside experience without leaving the city. The horses grazing peacefully and the babbling stream nearby make it feel like a true rural escape. Absolutely worth a visit.

A short walk from the large car park and you'll find this charming little farm. Only £2 entrance fee and 50p for anilmal feed. Very helpful staff, especially with regards to children with additional needs. Chicken and duck eggs can be bought here. There's plenty of trails for walkers if you don't visit the farm, and a small playground for children.

Woodgate Valley is a lovely spot for a peaceful walk, especially on a sunny day. The open meadows, winding paths, and wooded areas make it perfect for a gentle stroll. The highlight has to be seeing the ponies grazing in the fields they add so much charm and make the walk feel even more special. With birdsong, wildlife, and well kept trails, it’s a calm and friendly place to enjoy nature close to home. A very pleasant way to spend a sunny afternoon.

Nature & Parks
Moseley Bog, also known as The Dell, is a nature reserve in Birmingham that is believed to have inspired J.R.R. Tolkien's Old Forest in The Lord of the Rings. This 22-acre woodland area features walking trails, bird watching opportunities, and ancient burnt mounds. It is rich in historical significance and biodiversity, with a mill pond housing several burnt mounds from ancient times.
Been here many times over the years but came today as part of a nature themed walk. There is a small car park at the main entrance with bike racks just further in the site. Such a beautiful place to visit at any time of the year to be absorbed in the natural beauty. Vast range of trees, plants and birds. There is a map of the site at the entrance to help plan your walk and identify places of interest. You need to wear sensible shoes as sections of the paths are muddy, especially after rainfall. Great place to bring children as it really is a wild playground for them. Those in wheelchairs will find parts of the site difficult to access. No toilets here.
Elizabeth B — Google review
Moseley Bog offers a welcome escape into nature within the bustling city of Birmingham. This local nature reserve, once the childhood playground of J.R.R. Tolkien and said to have inspired the ancient forests of Middle-earth, exudes a tranquil and slightly mystical atmosphere. Its diverse landscape of wet and dry woodland, interspersed with patches of fen vegetation, creates a rich habitat for various wildlife, though patient observation is key to spotting them. The winding paths, some wooden boardwalks and others earthy trails, invite leisurely exploration. Ancient, gnarled trees stand sentinel, their twisted forms adding to the bog's unique character. While the "bog" element might suggest a muddy trek, the maintained paths make it largely accessible for most fitness levels, even accommodating buggies in some areas. However, don't expect manicured gardens; Moseley Bog is a wilder, more untamed space, which is precisely its charm. The air is fresh, and the sounds of nature – birdsong and rustling leaves – provide a soothing backdrop. It's a place for quiet contemplation and a refreshing connection with the natural world, a hidden gem offering a peaceful retreat from urban life. Just be sure to wear appropriate footwear, especially after rain.
Augustus O — Google review
Went here for a nature walk in the summer while visiting Birmingham. For a relatively small wooded area, there is, surprisingly, a lot to see. I highly recommend this park for nature lovers. I went alone, but I wish my son was there with me. He would have loved it
Sbourgeois87 — Google review
Moseley Bog is a lovely place to walk. You forget you're in a city. Can't believe I am 64 and never been here, will definitely be visiting again. Car park is very small but you should be able to park near by. The only thing to spoil it was the selfishness of dog owners who leave bags of poo lying around or even hanging from a tree 😡 and the rubbish left in the car park, some left by visitors 😡 some by people who must frequent the car park at night😡. Happily the selfishness of other's doesn't ruin this beautiful place.
Hazel S — Google review
Nice woods in the middle of the city. It was good during spring time with flowers in the woods. Avoid this during rainy time as it can get very muddy in the middle of woods. There are some places where wooden board have been laid so it wasn’t that bad even if it was muddy but it’s present only at few places. Pets are welcome. There is limited parking. A good place for a short walk!

Cadbury World is a popular family attraction located in Birmingham's southern district of Bournville. It offers a self-guided exhibition tour showcasing the origins of chocolate and the history of Cadbury, the UK's favorite chocolatier. Visitors can explore interactive displays about chocolate-making and learn about Cadbury's legacy as the country's first established chocolate manufacturer. The tour includes attractions such as magical Cadabra rides, a 4D Chocolate Adventure zone, and free chocolate samples for all guests.
An amazing experience at Cadbury World with my family. It was way beyond my expectations, with the price paid, you get free chocolate bars, walked through the chocolate making tour, history of Cadbury, free freshly made chocolate with toppings, 4D cinema, hands-on chocolate tempering, interactive ride and outdoor playground, superb for kids in primary school. Two hours nicely spent and the kids thoroughly enjoyed it. Would recommend and would return again in future! It was a pleasant experience. The price might seem a bit pricey but at the end you will think it is worthwhile for the experience offered.

Lovely experience. It was a wonderful time, spent around 2 hrs. The best part was the 4D movie which was just wow. And then the avenue was the good experince. If could show more about how chocolates are made nowadays then it would be more interesting. I have seen cadbury making process in a different country and that was more into the process making, so thats what a gap was I feel... rest everything was an amazing experience. It was my best birthday present.

Its not a very big place, but informative and there were things to do. We also got a taster cup of chocolate, it was nice. Saw a demo about how the chocolate was made. Unfortunately when we went the rides were not working and my child was so disappointed! The ticket was not cheap, so all the rides should work properly!

Would be better if you had kids. Overall nice experience if you’ve never been, lots of history and memorabilia but other than that just cinema screens showing animations that you have to que for every section. ‘Free’ chocolates are less than they use to be which used to be the best part. Lots of opportunities to upsell photos, rides, drinks, food, gifts.
Sasha W — Google review
It was heart warming to know the history of Mr. Cadbury, his struggles and triumph. Their design and way of story telling is awesome. Kids will enjoy the rides and play area. There is some for adults too. Don't forget to buy chocolates at a discounted price at their shop.

I visited Cadbury world in Birmingham on a weekday as I predicted this to be a little quieter than a weekend which it was. I managed to get a few snaps of the factory as you take a trip an a good history lesson of the beginnings all the way to present day. I like the tour and I think it’s pretty cool, especially seeing the chocolate makers on the ground floor making the chocolate fresh and shaping these for souvenirs to buy or for special events coming up. The gift shop is also pretty cool and worth a visit, having some cool novelties you can buy and take home with you. HOWEVER, for being a chocolate tour, the ride was not working when I was there, which was disappointing. Also, you only get 2 free bars of chocolate included in your tour visit, which is a little ridiculous considering that you pay a decent price to go.
Did T — Google review
A place that offers information, fun filled activities and entertainment. Booking tickets in advance is must. It will save you a trip and money. Arrive by about your time of entry, they let people queue and enter in batches. The tour begins with a historic display of cocoa production and evolution of chocolate while it travelled across the world. Then the first chocolate shop and birth of Cadbury, some stories of the family and how they ventured into this business. Followed by the making of chocolate, staffs demonstrating the process and later you get to do it by yourself. Inside they also sell some crazy structures of chocolate. Then you get entertained by 4D movie, dwelling into the world of characters Cadbury has introduced. Followed by a nice exhibit narrating the story of Bournville village and a fun filled ride where you collect the ingredients (virtually) to make your own chocolate. If you may have forgotten to collect something, don't worry you can buy them from their store that has EVERYTHING CHOCOLATE!!! A one of its kind place to engage all age groups. You get some free chocolates on entry and can buy more at exit. There is a cafe inside this building. Parking available. Cloak room is only for large luggage bags. Enough numbers of toilets available in intervals throughout the tour.

Visiting Cadbury World was enjoyable. Upon arrival at reception, the employee informed us that there were no tickets available and did not mention that we could book them online. There were more details regarding online booking. Overall, we enjoyed the experience and the tastings.

The museum features a canalside village where costumed characters bring history to life, while attractions such as an underground mine, tram rides, and canal trips provide immersive experiences.
Great museum, a lovely day out! A very interactive experience, staff are very good. So many things to see and do. The fish and chips are well worth a try, and the pub on site is just amazing to sit in! Have visited multiple times and will be going back again! Especially considering it's 12 months free return! Great value for money, and a great day out, fun for all the family

Almost 5 stars but this was our first visit & entering the carpark we had no idea or signs to say which way to the entrance or instructions to pay for the carpark. It wasn't very busy today but we thoroughly enjoyed our time spending over 4 hrs. The staff were delightful & oh so helpful. Fish & Chips were utterly delicious, best I've had in a long long time. The houses & shops were wonderful, bringing back so many memories. All in all a truly wonderful day, thank you.

Such an amazing experience. The museum and what it offers is phenomenal and the staff and volunteers are so engaging. The way they have set this up is exemplary and we learned so much from the people there and the exhibits. The forging and Army and Navy store were two of our favourites as well as the canal and chain shop area. A must see if you are here, a short train ride from Birmingham New Street to Tipton and it's about a 15 minute walk to the museum. Excellent day.

Our second visit to the Black Country Living Museum this year and was just as brilliant. Ages between 12 - 66 and we all had a fabulous time. So much to explore as always, staff in character and very friendly. Not a bad word to say about this place and would recommend to anyone. It's such an enjoyable day out. We used our free returns which is a brilliant offer after original booking to be able to return for up to a year. Kids were also able to use their Blue Peter Badge cards making it a very affordable family trip. Fish and Chips are 10/10, sweet shop brings back memories buying your favourite sweet treat and the gift shop offers a great variety of souvenirs.

Well worth a visit. Great family day out. We have two boys 7 and 11. They engaged really well. The fun fair cost more but parents of little ones went on free and they were great. Staff were super 👌. The fish and chips were amazing much better than we get these days and cheaper. The demonstrations were informative and entertaining. Definitely go down the mine but watch your head! The gift shop was reasonably priced.

Really enjoyed it and here. Took my 8 year old. Lovely to walk around and really takes you back. Even I remember houses like these when I was alot younger. The boat rides do have an additional cost. There is alot to see and do. Although they do have some eateries we didn't bother. I think I'd have preferred a packed lunch regardless. Definitely recommend a visit here!

Open air museum, this is more like a small, Industrial Revolution, town with plenty to see and do. Very good parking facilities with plenty of disabled space as well as spaces for families, especially those with younger children giving easy access to site. A quick 2 minute walk from the car park to the main entrance where you are greeted into a large atrium in a modern building with a comprehensive gift shop to the right on entry. To the left there is an eatery serving up hot and cold food, and the usual coffees/teas and soft drinks etc. Exiting the main entrance the is a world of history in front of you starting with a tour of the mines. Sadly even early In the morning 10:30 (30 mins after opening) there was a long queue however this was accessible during the day. Old buildings galore, presented in various period decor all accessible to view both upstairs and down as well as black smiths, foundries, smelting, brick production, the list goes on. Heritage building with cars and bikes for viewing. The museum also runs a bus service with busses from 1940’s. They operate an early funfair with several period rides including ghost train, carousel and penny slot machines, well worth a ride. To the rear of the museum there is a modern building dedicated to the canal trust and preservation with the ability to take passenger on a boat ride through the caves where they mined line stone. Several found outlets in the various building, accessible toilet throughout the site, actors on site who interact with the public. All in all a fantastic day out FYI, I travelled from Essex the morning of the visit. Worth every penny.

The Birmingham Botanical Gardens is a 15-acre site featuring exotic flora housed in elegant Victorian glass houses, along with a Bonsai garden and bird collection. The surrounding area offers nature lovers a variety of famous parks to explore, including the Birmingham Nature Centre, Cannon Hill Park, and more. Additionally, visitors can enjoy the vibrant nightlife concentrated along Broad Street and in Brindley place.
£9 entry for adults + £3 per car might seem steep but is 100% worth it for these beautiful gardens. With about 15 acres to explore you could easily spend 3-4hrs here! Perfect for a nice relaxed afternoon if you go during the week, I imagine it's quite a bit busier on the weekends and school holidays. Be aware that the hot-houses are very hot and humid! Probably 30-35? so if you go in the colder months make sure you can remove some layers easily. The grounds are broadly wheelchair accessible, with sloping ramps. Although if possible take someone who is able to open doors as one door in the cacti room to an accessible ramp does get stuck and some slopes (while gentle for those walking) could be a little steep for a manual chair. Plenty of benches around, some in the sun and some in the shade as well as a large gazebo-like structure near the rose garden you could duck into if it rains. Perfect for kiddos, if you park yourself in the cafe with a view to the hothouse door you can safely send them off on their own to run around for hours. There is a plat area as well if that's more their thing than running through bushes. Love the little shop, lots of gardening bits as well as cards, pottery and artwork all priced fairly high as you would expect for any garden centre/ public attraction. The cafe seems well enough, again watch out for your wallet as the cakes on display look delicious!

The botanical garden tour was indeed a captivating experience, offering a glimpse into the beauty of diverse plant life. The carefully curated landscapes and vibrant flowers created a truly enchanting atmosphere. It was a pity that the allotted time did not allow for a more extensive exploration of all the garden's wonders. Perhaps another visit is in order to fully appreciate its splendor.

Came here with my partner. Pretty easy to book, can do so online. £3 per car parking - would advise not to go at a busy time as the car park will be full. Lovely day out full of various plants and trees. Most of the outdoor plants are British origin with others being housed indoors. Managed to get around in an hour and a half, seeing all of the plants we wanted to see. As per usual, snacks and drinks are a bit costly £1.50 for a can. Overall, would recommend

Hidden treasure!! My first time!! Has to be seen to believe!!The staff wore smiles, friendly & ready to help. Always a pleasure to visit, the hard work of all the team is paying off! Autumn colours are a delight, especially with the sunshine! Worth mentioning that this Botanic Garden is a fully independent charity: 9£ entry is in line with similar organisations (if not cheaper) and all the tickets and donations help keeping this unique Brummie gem open and well kept!

A beautiful park with stunning nature. This place is really well looked after — very clean and full of greenery. There are some rare trees that make it feel quite special. It’s a lovely spot for a walk or just to spend some time outdoors. Highly recommend!

Very friendly and lovely looking hotel .it would have been 5 star if our room was had a double bed rather than 2 singles pushed together. Quite dark in the room but not a problem as it fitted with the theme really. We were ground floor and the hall smelled a little damp. Reception and restaurant staff were very friendly . The area was pretty too. Nice walks and the bonus is the guy who offers very affordable punting . Very knowledgeable and kind. We done the medieval banquet and enjoyed ourselves. Can recommend visiting the hotel and the experience .

Such a beautiful park with woodlands, ponds with ducks and a centre with cafe, toilets, shops etc! We really enjoyed our time walking in the woods area with massive gorgeous trees around us! The ducks and doves and swans were enjoying the duck food we bought from the info centre for just £1/bag, although we saw some people giving their children sandwiches and bread to chuck at the ducks which was sad to see. A stunning place!! Definitely worth the visit!!

Coombe Abbey Country Park is a beautiful and peaceful place to explore. The gardens, lake, and woodland walks are perfect for relaxing or enjoying nature. The historic abbey building adds extra charm to the stunning landscape. A lovely spot for a family day out, picnic, or quiet stroll — truly one of Warwickshire’s gems!

It was a pleasant visit, where we arrived by chance. The park itself is very beautiful, where you can charge your soul, and if you are going to stay at the hotel you will be spoiled. The lake is full of life, different birds, and even a gondola ride. I liked it and recommend that you set aside a whole day to visit this area.

Beautiful woodlands, nature at its best! The trees were absolutely fascinating and added to the charm. Great for peaceful strolls, picnics and relaxing in the fresh air. The car park was easy to find and reasonably priced. A perfect spot for nature lovers.

My wife and I recently spent an afternoon at Coombe Abbey Country Park, and it turned out to be one of those places that leaves a lasting impression. What struck us most was the variety within the grounds – one moment you’re walking beneath tall trees in the woodland, the next you’re stepping out into wide, open fields with sweeping views across the countryside. The contrast makes every part of the walk feel fresh and engaging. The woodland paths are beautifully looked after, offering a calm, shaded route that feels almost timeless. Once we reached the edges of the park, we were rewarded with what looked like golden wheat fields, stretching out into the horizon. It’s a stunning sight and gave us that wonderful sense of space you don’t often get so close to the city. Around the lake and ponds, there’s plenty of activity with swans and ducks to feed, and we particularly enjoyed stopping at the bird hide – a quiet spot that gave us time to slow down and watch the wildlife. For those after something livelier, the Go Ape course adds a bit of excitement, but it blends in neatly with the surroundings rather than dominating them. The practical side of things is well thought out too. There are toilets on site, which makes longer visits easy and stress-free. The ice cream shop deserves a special mention – after a long walk, treating ourselves to a cone felt like the perfect finishing touch. Parking was also simple and reasonably priced, with plenty of availability. All in all, Coombe Abbey Country Park offers a mix of tranquility, natural beauty, and good facilities. It’s the kind of place where you can enjoy a simple walk yet come away feeling as though you’ve had a proper day out. For us, it was a wonderful way to spend time together, and it’s somewhere we’ll happily return to.

The Walsall Arboretum is a lovely park with formal gardens, a play area for children and an outdoor fitness trail. It is situated on land that was once part of the Persehouse family's estate, which had clay pits and lime kilns built on it in the eighteenth century. The quarries later flooded and turned into popular swimming spots, leading to one mayor's death.
A great park that you can visit. The part where the lake is very peaceful and beautiful with lots of little trails to explore. Well kept and peaceful. Nice day out with a cafe onsite and play area for kids.

Baggeridge Country Park, located just four miles south of Wolverhampton, is a redeveloped mining land offering 150 acres of woodland trails, meadows, marshes, and water on hilly terrain. The park features an aerial ropes course, sensory garden, and a newly renovated play area with swings and slides for younger children and a large climbing frame for older kids. It has been recognized as a Green Flag winner every year since 1998.
Great place for walking the dog, taking the kids exploring or just a stroll around to relax. There are toilets and a cafe at the car park, further toilets and another cafe if you walk down to Himley Hall as a convenient half way point. Many paths are accessible by wheelchair with dedicated circular routes. Pay and display parking or a yearly pass available from the rangers office. If going off the main paths it can get a bit muddy in the wet and some steep hills.

Lovely park with great playground for kids, occasional mini train and lots of woodland walks. Would give it 5 stars but could do with more dog poo bins and I'm annoyed that some families allow their dogs to jump into Bag Pool which has scared away all the ducks and geese that used to live there.

We hadn't been for years and wanted a to go for a walk. Good pathways, some a bit steep, but ok for us. Just got a little lost with the trail signage( might need updating to make it clearer) Otherwise a good walk round by the lakes. Toilet area was clean. And we had a drink in the cafe. Plenty of paid parking. And a good play area for younger children. Very enjoyable

Lovely local park! Parking is just £3.50 for the whole day, making it a great spot for a relaxed visit. It takes around 45 minutes for a round-trip walk to Himley Hall, which is a nice addition to your visit if you’re up for a stroll. The park itself is beautiful, with a peaceful pond full of ducks and plenty of scenic walking paths to explore in different directions. There are lots of perfect picnic spots scattered around, ideal for a family day out or a quiet afternoon. I haven’t had the chance to try the mini railway yet, but it looks like fun and is definitely on my list for next time! There’s also a charming local shop where you can grab hot drinks, cakes, sandwiches, and even ice cream. On a cold day, a hot chocolate really hits the spot while walking around. A lovely, well-kept place to enjoy nature and unwind.

Visitors can explore well-maintained paths and enjoy seasonal bedding schemes around the main house and conservatory.
A hidden gem. Walked through this park recently and was surprised to see it's been very well maintained and beautifully planted (in traditional city council park style). Loads of people using the facilities with families and dogs all having fun. Free parking too and a cafe with facilities.

Very nice park which is well maintained and tidy. Park has access to a garden centre which is a lovely touch and also has toilet facilities on site too, which is always a plus! Park is flat and has a clear path so is suitable for wheelchairs and pushchairs which again is a massive positive. Overall a lovely park which is worth a look if you are in the area. The only downside is car parks are small. The park has two, which is excellent but both are narrow and if driving a moderately sized vehicle, you may find it a bit fiddly to get in and out! Just something to keep in mind.

A popular park, deservedly so. Well kept with very varied areas. We love the woodland walk, the bird song was beautiful. The pond area is lovely, we sat there having a take away coffee, listening and watching the water birds. So much to enjoy. Two childrens'areas, very popular. Lots of seasonal flowers, starting with carpets of snow drops, followed by crocus, daffodils etc. Our only regret is that what used to be called 'The T.V. garden" is not open to the public.

I love this beautiful park, with it's elegant Victorian tea rooms, equally historic mulberry bush and beautiful selection of trees. You can even buy organic veg which is grown here. I've spent many a summer's day here, regenerating, usually near the tennis courts and the bowling green...

Leasowes Park, located just 20 minutes from Birmingham City Centre, is a Grade I listed naturalistic landscape designed by the poet William Shenstone. It's considered one of the first natural landscape gardens in England and is on par with renowned landscapes like Blenheim and Stowe. The park features picturesque elements such as waterfalls, bridges, and landscaped gardens. It offers a serene escape from city life with its lush moorlands and scenic beauty.
Absolutely beautiful little gem, we followed the golf course track and by the little streems and ponds it was absolutely picturesque! Will be visiting again!! Plenty of free parking and really close to town if you wanted to nip in for snacks before or after.

Another nice park locally to myself.. Situated in Halesowen on the southern edge of the West Midlands urban conurbation. It is a 57-hectare public park, Site of Special Scientific Interest, containing the remains of one of the most important and influential landscapes of the 18th century. The garden at The Leasowes was designed by the poet William Shenstone beginning in 1743 and continuing until his death in 1763. Shenstone created his garden from farmland; forming a diverse landscape of wooded valleys, open grassland, lakes and streams. Today, The Leasowes is of major historic significance ranking in importance with landscapes such as Blenheim and Stowe, and being listed as Grade 1 on the English Heritage 'Register of Parks and Gardens of Special Historic Interest in England'.

Beautiful place to walk. Small car park (no charge), lots of wildlife. Open till 4pm. Dogs must be kept on leads to protect the local wildlife. Quite muddy in places. Not suitable for pushchairs or wheelchairs.

Lovely walk today, getting close to the wildlife. Good amenities and great for all ages. Bit muddy still in places but the team are doing a great job of trying to make all areas safe to walk on. Pleasantly surprised at this out of the way nature reserve. Will definitely go again, maybe see the peacock on the next visit instead of just hearing it.

Small but very clean park nice for walk with dog. What surprised me there was public toilets . Bigger parks not often have got this facilities . Also bins for rubbish were around which are important to keep place clean.

Great space. Free parking, open until 4pm. Dogs can go, but must remain on a lead. In normal circumstances, toilets available. Tracks around the lake. 2x well constructed viewing platforms to see the lake and wildlife. Typical slow walk takes about 1hr. Well managed site.

Nestled between Birmingham and Sandwell, Sandwell Valley is a sprawling green haven that invites you to explore its picturesque landscapes. With rolling fields, hedgerows, and the sweet scent of elderflower in the air, this expansive area offers breathtaking views and plenty of space to roam without encountering crowds. You can immerse yourself in nature at RSPB Sandwell Valley or enjoy a refreshing wild swim at Swan Pool.
Great place for a walk with the dogs, and to take young children on site fair rides and a café.
Barry M — Google review
I've just been to Sandwell Valley with my family only to discover the shocking state of the children's play area. The park has been declining over several years now but after this visit the neglect is even more severe. All of the children's at equipment in both Sandwell park and the adventure playground is either in bad need of repair or else has been made unusable by removing parts of it. For example the zip line is without its zip line, swings are missing the seats. Only the frames are still visible. The slide on the adventure park has removed the net to access to it and is now extremely dangerous. Even the toilets have suffered. The cubicles in the men's toilets are missing the doors leaving anyone using them visible to anyone walking past outside. This is simply unacceptable. I can give many more examples of neglect in this park but I think the above is enough to get my point across. In short me and my family will likely not be using this park again in the future unless something changes.
Adam C — Google review
Visited here today for the first time in a couple years with the kiddies and we were in shock!! Firstly we went to the petting zoo and to our disbelieve there was no animals 😡 there was only a small little kitten and some rabbits that we could barely see!! Then we went to the wooden park and everything that was once there was gone how horrible to get rid of children’s happiness. Lastly the only decent thing of this visit was the metal park we enjoyed going on the activities there especially the hamster wheel where we all attempted to the yank yank🤣🤣🤣. The main question is would we re visited… big no!!
Paul — Google review
A lot of people commenting about how rubbish the park is now but after speaking to a member of staff in 2023, all the animals have been moved to forge mill farm and sandwell valley are mainly used for functions, buisness events and sometimes there's things going on over the school holiday, Easter, summer holidays, Christmas but other than that you'll need to go to forge mill farm, it's ace 👌

The center also features an ice rink and swimming pool for those looking for alternative activities. Additionally, it offers classes in skiing and snowboarding.
This was a fantastic venue for entrainment, where staff got us checked in promptly and helped with any queries! Plenty of area is available for changing rooms and lockers are easy to use, helmets come at no additional charge. The snow fun area is a blast with sledging and a mini hut in the mock snow that can be walked all around, disco lights shining down adds to its feel!

Great day out for my daughters 10th birthday. Bonus as May was buy one get one free so really good value! As the girls were 10 I didn't have to go in the pool or on the snow play sliding with them (extra bonus 😂) but easy to watch and manage. Snow play staff were lovely. Life guards a bit moody to be honest.

I had an amazing experience taking skiing lessons at the SnowDome in Tamworth! The instructors were incredibly friendly, patient, and professional — they made learning to ski so much fun and completely stress-free. The indoor slope is perfect for beginners, and the lessons were really well-structured with lots of personal tips and encouragement. By the end, I felt so much more confident on my skis! Everything from the equipment to the facilities was top-notch. Highly recommend to anyone wanting to learn or brush up on their skiing before hitting the mountains!

Came for the 2 hour skate session. When we arrived I saw the size of the rink and was worried about how crowded it would be as the room was full of people putting skates on. However, there is a track that goes around the rink and the snow play area so there was plenty of room for everyone. The staff were all very helpful and the session was good value with the summer offer that was on.

What a fantastic day. All 3 of my boys went to Clip and Clmb and had their first lessons snowboarding. Every member of staff were so polite and professional. The food in Aspen was great and pizzas delivered on a mini snowboard was great. A big shout out to Imogen and Ethan the boys instructors who were amazing from start to finish, their smiles and constant tips to push them on had them from wobbly newbies to being independent and in control. Thanks for such a memorable day!

We bought a group of 6 kids to SnowDome for a snowboard lesson! Special thanks to Coach Leo who was absolutely amazing and made the session so much fun for them . We did ski with lift pass the next day and the staffs there were all really lovely and helpful. Great experience all round! We will definitely book again.

Looks great, but do not drive here thinking you can just try and ski or snowboard. You have to do a lesson or at least have experience on the slopes. Makes sense when you think about it, however, if you’re like me and just spontaneously do things with people, just be aware. Didn’t see anything on the website warning me - but then again, there may have been something - and if there was, I didn’t see it. Staff were great and venue looks good - but make sure you book a lesson before hand!!
Rob Y — Google review
My son had a ski fast track one on preparation for his school trip in Feb 26. He has never skied before, I would thoroughly recommend this fast track lesson. The instructor shows him how to put on his ski boots, how to step into the skis and they slowly worked their way up to the half way point of the slope. The instructors were absolutely brilliant with my son, always staying in front of him as he gained confidence going down the slope. They learnt how to brake and stop. He really wants to do the fast track two, so I'm hoping there will be another promotion. Please be aware that the car park is not free. We visited the coffee shop and the produce was delicious.

I've gone 3 time, I had gone for events before, today was the first time going as it it. Was still really enjoyable. Staff has been nice and are happy to talk about the animals. This time greybeard made our day lot of jokes as well as a lot of information on the sea otter. Would happily go again

Awesome experience, amazing staff!! They have designated talk and feed times for penguins and otters, so you could enjoy that. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Specially enjoyed the penguins. Would have given a 5 or even more if otters were close instead of on screen. However I understand and appreciate that they need to adapt first to this environment before exposing them to public. Overall, it was a very fun experience and Happy Weekend instead!!

There is a helpful little tip for visiting - in the corner of the gift shop there is a lift back up to the toilets. These are back at the beginning of exhibition so you can head round again to pick up any bits you missed! It is a great half day out with the kids. The centre feels like it could do with some updating and refresh on some of the side activities but the exhibits are all great, and the feeding / talk times flow quite well through your visit. The staff are all super friendly and helpful, our daughters especially loved the roaming pirate!
AndyHasBeenTaken — Google review
It was am awesome experience! I'll be honest when I first went in, I thought it was quite small, however it is extended at the back so it was indeed quite spacious. Easily took us 2-3 hours to explore the entire place at a slow pace with a 5 month old. The penguins were adorable at the start, the amount of fish in each aquarium space was quite adequate. I did wish we could see the otters though, only managed to catch s tiny glimpse in the room at the far back. The area with the jellyfish was so mesmerising. There were different photography stations located at multiple areas. You could take photos at each station, and at the end you could choose which pictures you'd like to buy and what package. Overall there was a lot of cleanliness, tanks were clean, the walkways were clean too. We ended up going at a busy weekend, but still could easily manage to get around with a baby pram. There was however a pram parking area, if you will, to store the prams if you'd rather do that. Definitely worth a trip.

Had a lovely visit here on Saturday, wasn't too busy and no wait to go inside. We booked it in the morning through our Merlin passes and there was plenty of admission availability. So many things to see if you take your time, but it's easier said than done. Lot's of talks going on throughout the day, we really wanted to watch one of them but there was too much pushing and shoving from other adults and didn't want my child getting trampled on. Some better crowd control would be ideal at the talks/feeding times. Nice gift shop at the end with plenty of stock and very lovely staff.
Adele J — Google review
Good for a one time visit. Gets busy and cramped with the crowds but nice variety of fish and aquatic life to see. The tunnel at the end is the best and provides a nice visual experience where you get to see underwater from all angles.
Imran H — Google review
Visited the National Sea Life Aquarium with my kids and we had a beautiful, exciting time. It was such a delight discovering different aquatic creatures—there’s so much to see and learn! The only downside for me was how crowded it was. Maybe it’s just the holiday season… maybe not. Either way, it was a bit too packed for my liking. Also, I was a little disappointed to learn that the big sharks are no longer there—they were apparently removed a while ago. That said, the kids didn’t seem to mind and had an absolute blast. Overall, a delightful experience and we’ll definitely be back—hopefully during a quieter period.

I have never been to a liquid zoo before, I am 30 and my fiancé is older, we had the BEST time! We loved the penguins and the fish, we had photo opportunities and they came out perfectly. Yep my fiancé was taken from me by a beautiful and friendly penguin! The staff were kind and lovely! It’s not hot or cold in there, it smells lovely, the lights are dim so we can see the sea life better. At the gift shop we each got something and I got a mini penguin for my kitten! We will come again soon, many thank you’s to all the staff there!

The Coventry Transport Museum, located in the heart of Coventry City Centre, is a state-of-the-art museum that offers an extensive collection of British-made road transport. With over 200 bicycles, 100 motorcycles, and 240 cars and commercial vehicles on display, it's a paradise for motor enthusiasts and those interested in gaining comprehensive knowledge about transportation.
It's a truly fascinating place and definitely worth a visit. You can easily spend half of the day here if you take it slow. Here you will discover the origin of bicycles, motorcycles to all different types of car and motor sports. The museum is laid out perfectly from the start to the end. It starts with the 18th century and then goes till 21st century . It has the largest publicly owned collection of British vehicles on the planet and pictures the story of a city which changed the world through transport. Other bonus points are that it has a cafe, and even a baby changing facility. It's a place where you can go as a family.

It was great to see so many vehicles designed and built in Britain, but suddenly, to see the decline, even though it's been that way for a while, was a little depressing. Great experience though. The kids (2-7yo's) loved it too. Particularly the land speed cars at the end. Tickets are valid for a year so can go back again and again.

John E — Google review
There is a lot to take in here. If you have children (currently Children 5-16 £8-£9, Under 4 s free - but cheaper with GO CV 2025) then it is filled with activities for them to do. I think it is always like this - not just during school holidays when I visited. There is a good range of locally built cars, bikes and motor cycles. The Jaguar 'section' brings a modernity to the historical units here, as does the Land Speed Record Thrusts 1 and 2. I was hoping to see a Jaguar C or D type but sadly not here. There are a few tractors, light military vehicles, trucks and buses, but the vast majority of the displays are cars and (motor) bikes and cycles'. The Triumph / 1970's / 80s sections were good - the range is fairly narrow as they are Coventry or locally built models. I couldn't quite get why there were some examples from Birmingham and surrounding areas - there were a lot missing if that's the rationale. Still, better to see them than not. It isn't as big as I thought from the outside. I like to see inside the vehicles but there were a lot where I couldn't do this, partly because of the way they were displayed - maybe not enough room? I think it was the unpainted monocoque shell of a Jaguar XJ220 hanging vertically - but I couldn't see any info on that. Signage was generally OK. The basic floor plan map (attached) could do with a bit more detail I thought, as could some of the displays. The 4D simulator wasn't working on my visit (30th Oct 2025) However, apart from the small bits of nit-picking above, there were so many interesting things to see. There were several unexpected delights too. Cars using fabric instead of metal, cut-aways of cars and car parts, some really unique cars, the 85th anniversary Blitz section, a huge collection of model die-casts (e.g. Matchbox) and much more. Definitely worth the entrance price - which is cheaper if booked online. The ticket is valid for readmission for a year. So, maybe when I come back (and I will) I will get to try the 4D simulator. I had intended to adopt a vehicle(!), but for £100 a year, that didn't seem good value on inspection. I also had a coffee at Baxter Baristas (enclosed in the museum. It was pretty good. The home-made cakes looked tempting too. The toilet facilities only seemed accessible if you used the cafe? I parked very close-by at Bishop Street Car Park CV1 1JN. Cash - i.e. change, or app only. A reasonable price for a heavily pot-holed lot. Not sure if there are any security cameras here - certainly not visible. No directions to the museum from here though and about a 4 minute walk.

Unbelievable place. Absolute MUST VISIT for any motoring fan. It's got an unbelievable amount on display, from vintage to absolutely cutting edge motoring technology. Wheelchair accessible throughout, lots to keep kids/families engaged as well as anyone just looking to learn about the history of motoring or Motorsport or car design. Staff were outstanding, particularly Den who was a wealth of knowledge and, more importantly, passion for the museum and local area. This is a place not to be missed. Could send a half day here easily. Extremely highly recommended.
Darren O — Google review
Easily a must see if visiting Coventry. I'm personally not a huge car fanatic, but there's no other place where you're gonna get to see the two fastest land vehicles ever made. That alone is worth the visit. Tickets are £15 if booked in advance and a around £16.50 if booked in-person on the day (for adults). However, while the ticket is valid for multiple entries for a span of 1 year either way, I'd recommend booking online in advance simply because it's cheaper.

Dudley Zoo and Castle offers a unique experience with its diverse collection of exotic mammals, reptiles, and a farmyard area. Visitors can also enjoy face painting while exploring the zoo grounds. The castle's history dates back to the 11th century when limestone was mined in the area for construction purposes. The ruins of Dudley Castle provide a breathtaking panoramic view from its keep, which was once used as a place of imprisonment for Mary, Queen of Scots.
Been to this zoo a few times now and have to say it has improved loads over the last few years. Loads of different animals, play areas and small rides for the kids. Most enclosures have had referbs. The only one that looks dated now Is the sealions enclosure. We always bring food as we feel the food is slightly overpriced. A great day out and the kids always want to go back.
John B — Google review
We visited this attraction for the first time and it did not disappoint. In fact, it was better than expected, with the whole family enjoying the beautiful animals and stunning gardens and castle. We were surprised how much it had to offer. Many varieties of animals, big to small, cute to scary and everything else in between! The gardens themselves were absolutely amazing, it was a pleasure to walk around all day, soaking it in. There were also a number of playgrounds for the kids a long the way and we all loved the chair lift. - We managed to get over 20,000 steps! The facilities were a little dated (restrooms and restaurant) but functional and offering what you would expect. Overall, good value for money for a family of 4, will likely visit again if we are in the area.
Kevin K — Google review
Good selection of animals, enjoyed photographing them all. The site is on quite a hill, and there are lots of hills and steps. Land train is useful for getting to the top. Some areas are rejuvenated and look great, other areas look tired. We had eaten before arriving, which I am glad we did, as food prices were very expensive. £5.50 for a sausage roll is too much.
Damian F — Google review
I visited Dudley Zoo and Castle with my wife and two kids, and we had a great time. There’s plenty to see and do, and all the animals looked healthy and well cared for. The staff were friendly and helpful throughout the day, and the grounds were clean and well maintained. The castle grounds are particularly impressive, with lots of interesting information about the site’s history. It’s a long day out, but there’s enough variety to keep everyone entertained. A couple of small downsides – the signage could be clearer, as it was sometimes difficult to get your bearings even with the map. The food was also quite disappointing and expensive: a £6.50 burger was just a plain patty in a bun, with no salad, sauces or cheese, and the chips were cold. The main café building itself looks quite tired and could do with a refresh, though I can understand that much of the money rightly goes towards the care of the animals. Overall, I’d definitely recommend visiting, but I’d suggest bringing your own food or picnic to make the most of the day. It’s a great family outing with a lovely mix of wildlife, history, and scenic views.
Randeep — Google review
Dudley Zoo is a great day out in any weather! The membership is amazing value, and the new playground is fantastic. We went most recently on a grey, rainy day and still saw the tiger, lions, lynx, giraffes, arctic foxes, owls, red pandas, flamingoes, giant tortoises, lemurs, penguins, meercats, all the reptiles, wolverines, geladas and much more. Great fun for children and adults alike. Also love the BSL signs up on some of the animal enclosures.
Sarah E — Google review
This zoo and castle combination is a nice place to visit. The enclosures for the animals are suitable and they seem well looked after. I got some great views and photos. You can see Lions, Tigers, Red Pandas, Giraffes, Tapir, Lemur, various monkeys so there's a lot to see. There is a fun chairlift and a few rides. The buildings are not in great condition, but it does have a certain kind of charm. My impression is that this zoo will not last forever, and no one will build a zoo in a castle grounds again, visit while you can.

Visitors can explore the red sandstone ruins and enjoy views of the Warwickshire landscape that Queen Elizabeth would have seen during her visits. The castle also boasts an aviary, marble fountain, and carved arbours.
A superb gem of a location. We are English heritage members and came for a day out and we weren't disappointed. The visitors centre was welcoming and accommodating. When we entered the castle grounds the views were stunning and the buildings were well preserved and sympathetically restored. We stopped for lunch and had sandwiches and snacks and my 10 year old son ate for free when we spent over £15. An amazing offer. The highlight was a guided tour from Neil of the gatehouse. Neil was extremely knowledgeable about the castle and gatehouse and how it played its part in English history. He was truly excellent and a credit to English heritage. It has been a thoroughly enjoyable day and we will absolutely visit again, and I have no hesitation in recommending Kenilworth Castle for a day trip and a tour by the wonderful Neil Hall!.

Friendly helpful staff. Fascinating building, and luckily 2 of our group knew the history of this Castle. Visited the cafe. This was a beautiful building. Staff were good, if not a little slow, maybe short staffed & we were quite a big group. I’d recommend a visit. All areas were easy to walk up. Views were beautiful.

Well restored and presented historical castle and grounds. Very informative and interesting, especially with the Wicked Game art installation. Not very accessible for wheelchairs due to all the stairs to the levels in the Castle, but good access to the site, garden, cafe and toilet. Could do with more toilets!

Lovely English Heritage site. Biggest ruins we have been to - lots to explore, quite a few different sections where you can climb to the top. Well maintained, clean and tidy site. Really enjoyed the superb sculpture display currently at the site. Would highly recommend.

Although the park is small, it has very complete facilities. Once you enter the park, you can use the tour guide to learn about the history of the place. There is an exhibition hall that shows the entire castle from construction to the final demolition and it is very interesting. I also recommend everyone to visit the GateKeeper Tower. It is very well preserved the most luxurious furniture and furnishings, you can feel the luxurious atmosphere of the time. Although the castle itself has been severely damaged, you can still imagine the style and living conditions of those who lived here during the guided tour.

Even on a day of mixed weather it was a great visit! So many places around the ruin to explore and I enjoyed the views. All very well cared for and well laid out. The exhibitions inside were also interesting and gave more information about the history of the place. Well worth the entrance fee if you buy in advance which included an audio guide. I didn't go to the cafe or use the car parking, so can't say much about those facilities. The toilets were a bit cramped but fine. Kenilworth itself was also a great place to visit.
Kitty F — Google review
Evocative castle and grounds, with plenty of interpretation panels and some really interesting exhibitions in the stables and gatehouse. You can climb the walls of the Great Hall and other parts of the medieval castle buildings, which is fun, but thrre are also plenty of paths for the less mobile (plus a lift and accessible toilet in the gatehouse).

Lovely castle. Visited on Halloween weekend during half term and not overly busy. Great accessibility improvements making most areas easy to get to - only 1 or 2 still with original spiral staircases

The Coffin Works, located in Birmingham's Jewellery Quarter, is a unique museum that offers a glimpse into the history of coffin making. Once a thriving firm established by the Newman Brothers in 1882, it now stands as a museum filled with original stock and tools from its heyday. Visitors can experience the restored machinery and witness firsthand how exquisite coffin furniture was crafted for notable funerals throughout history.
It may seem strange and macabre to go to this but it isn't at all. It's more about the manufacturing process and the machines used. The volunteers are all really helpful and informative. I thought I would be in and out in 15 minutes but they made it so interesting I was there for a hour. It is a well preserved factory showing the history of one of the great manufscturing companies that used to be in Birmingham.
Hersha C — Google review
An amazing place to visit. Be sure to check it out. The Coffin Museum staff are very professional and friendly. After a while, I felt like I'd known these people for a long time. We also recommend it for the incredible knowledge. We were with children, and they had fun too, especially my little historian.
Paulina T — Google review
Excellent tour! Robin was a fantastic guide, really knowledgeable and full of fascinating facts. It was amazing to learn how this old Jewellery Quarter firm operated day to day, producing some of the world’s finest coffin furniture, including fittings for the funerals of Winston Churchill, Princess Diana, and the Queen Mother.
Nicky O — Google review
A good insight into the past and working life, presented through stories and anecdotes. Because of the guide's Birmingham accent, we didn't catch everything (we are German).
Yllen — Google review
Wonderful afternoon exploring this museum. Absolute time capsule within Birmingham telling the story of how coffins were made, decorated and shrouds made. An absolute must for any taphophile. Seeing the sewing machines, working press and shrouds was great however the smaller details really touched home. The worn wooden floor where years of workers tread. The seats with indents of women who sat for years sewing shrouds. The daily tea orders noted down. The glasses and shoes in the office. The owner, staff and volunteers are all friendly welcoming and knowledgeable. Small cafe was lovely with a variety of drinks and snacks.

What a fabulous hidden gem ! Really interesting place not quite what I thought it was even better. Our guide Andy was fantastic light hearted approach lots of lovely bits of detail but still very informative. Highly recommend this place an hour & a half well spent. It’s places like this that need patronising they’re an amazing part of our social history 👍😊

I had an enjoyable couple of hours at this museum with an informative tour from Andy and a cuppa in the cafe during which I spoke to a number of the lovely staff. This place is an interesting visit for an aspect of Birmingham and British history but the vibe is what makes it, everyone is friendly, helpful and seems genuinely happy to be there. It's rare to come across a place with such a vibe so keep it up and thanks for the hospitality!
Evan L — Google review
Went to this museum spontaneously with a friend and we both came back feeling really awkward... Staff was generally friendly but gave us no clue where to start or where to go. We had no idea. We decided to just start somewhere, only to have someone come after us telling us the 'right order' of the rooms to visit. Volunteers sat in silence, did barely respond to questions even though we were encouraged to ask questions before. We left early because we felt really uncomfortable. I have never experienced this in a museum and do not recommend this place at all.

The Pen Museum in West Midlands offers an exhibition and demonstrations of pen-making, writing equipment, accessories, and calligraphy. It's a family-friendly attraction with various activities for kids in the area. The museum showcases an impressive collection of pens from around the world, making it a dream destination for pen enthusiasts. Additionally, visitors can explore hands-on displays on science and technology at the nearby Thinktank - Birmingham Science Museum located at Millennium Point.
Great day out for my birthday! We went not expecting much but it was a lovely small museum. We were able to make our own pen nibs included in the price of the ticket and we're gifted another functional one to take home. The shop had pens your could buy at very reasonable prices. Great for older and younger kids. 50% discount for art fund members (this is only £10 a year as a student)!!

This is a must-see for any visitor to Birmingham. It's a modest but seriously good museum, preserving an aspect of Birmingham's (and indeed British) history that is not well known. The displays of pen nibs illustrating the history of their manufacture in Birmingham are fascinating by themselves. But I really enjoyed the second room with the film and the hands-on demonstration of how to make a nib. The gentlemen who guided us through the process was so knowledgeable, it was like stepping back 100 years. The third room where you can try handwriting and use typewriters and office calculators. The volunteers were more than happy to answer our questions.
Richard L — Google review
A fantastic little museum. 3 rooms packed with lots to see. Our guide, demonstrating the presses was incredibly knowledgeable. Some of the information presented was mind-blowing: how can someone make 28,000 nib blanks in a day?!? A multi-storey car is a few minutes' walk away, and the Metro station just a little further. Definitely worth a visit. Recommended. The little souvenir was a nice touch.
MartinR — Google review
Absolutely brilliant! Extremely friendly and knowledgeable staff that were keen to engage in conversation. The man who showed the pressing of the nib was spot on. I felt bad as I missed the tour and was there alone but he still went through the entire process with me and answered all of my questions. What he doesn’t know about the local pen industry is not worth knowing 🤣 I would highly recommend this to anyone interested in pens or local history.

Small organised museum. Friendly staff! When you renter the museum it looks so small however they have 2 more rooms behind. So don’t worry 😉 Entrance fee is 6 in google , it’s 8,5 for adults !!! Will attach the picture If you are interested to pens 🖊️ this will be a great place to visit ! You will make your own pen nib in one of the room, one of the staff will help you out ! Have fun !
Hasret — Google review
Very interesting museum showcasing some of Birminghams heritage of Birmingham and the Jewellery quarter. Interactive talk showing how the machines were made and very knowledgeable staff. Great for Children.
Mark L — Google review
This is a small and specialised museum, lots of displays of pen nibs etc, but the best bit by far was see how a nib is made and having a go. Great explanation by our guide. Small shop, but it does sell nibs etc
David F — Google review
A really good museums on the pen trade in Birmingham. Across three rooms there are pen displays, informative text and a video with interviews by people who worked in the pen nib factories in their youth. You can also try your hand at different calligraphy forms and pens. The best bit was the middle room which has a workshop full of old tools set up in it. A lovely, dedicated volunteer guided us through some steps of making our own pen nibs. You really get a sense what skill and effort the work was to the people, and the pen nib is a really neat souvenir to take home! It is close to the Museum of the Jewellery Quarter so is a good opportunity to get to know Birmingham‘s industrial heritage.

Aston Hall is a stunning Jacobean-style mansion located in Birmingham, UK. Built in 1635, it boasts period rooms that offer a glimpse into the past and has hosted famous visitors like King Charles I. The hall also bears partial damage from the English Civil War. Surrounding the mansion are scenic gardens perfect for leisurely strolls. Additionally, occasional special events are held on the grounds, making it an engaging destination for history enthusiasts and nature lovers alike.
It's hard to believe this beautiful, serene place is only an eight minute train ride from Birmingham New Street. Its a great historical building; each of the rooms look stunning and the gardens are well cultivated and maintained. I was here on a hot summer Saturday afternoon (the last weekend of June)., and was surprised it wasn't very busy. Yes, there were other visitors around, but it never felt crowded. Maybe the £10 admission fee is off-putting to some? The visit here was definitely worthwhile and felt like a tranquil oasis from the crowded Birmingham city centre. The volunteers are very knowledgably of the building's history and the gardens are a great place to relax after touring the rooms withing the grand hall.

Aston Hall was our wedding venue. It's a fantastic building, full of character and wonderful spaces. While booking was a bit of a faff, the staff on the day were excellent and did everything to make the event run smoothly while still being great fun, including accommodating a harpist and two bands. We had canapes on site that were also superb. If you're looking for somewhere a little different, Aston Hall is highly recommended.

Visited mid-morning on the first Saturday of half-term. Spectacular site, easy to get to using public transport. Entry price was reasonable, leaving you on a self-guided tour of the rooms. Best part was easily the volunteers, they were keen to answer any questions you had, and will take you on tours of parts of the building not accessible to the public without a guide - the attic spaces were particularly interesting, lots of ghost stories! Great for anyone from history geeks (like myself) to casual tourists to families. Can't believe a gem like this is just in the middle of the city!

First time going to Himley Hall, and loved the Christmas lights and lasers, even though it was on the last night they were there (29 December), but in a way, the smaller crowds made it more intimate and magical. Went on the big wheel too - and the highlight of that was that there was a power cut just before we got on. Everyone in the queue cheered! 👍. Only down point was the horrendous state of the portable toilets (by the big wheel). It was the end of the session when I had to use them (approx 8.15pm) but even so, I almost gagged at the state of a couple of them 💩💩😩. But all in all, we will deffo make another visit in the Spring in daylight to explore the estate again, with our 2 small dogs too 🐕🐕❤️

Went on Bank Holiday so was very busy, good amount of parking £4.50 for the day. Cute little ponds and a nice lake. Disabled friendly around the houses and one disabled toilet with baby change. The play park equipment was great fun the older kid loved it all only a small play set for the little one though. There is a golf club and coffee lounge with gallery. The bathroom facilities are below average in cleanliness standard. This place is dog friendly but lots of owners did let dogs with an unsuitable recall off leash so be aware with your kids.

Lovely big open space for all the family to enjoy. I was glad to see they had their dinosaur problem solved with the use of some metal fencing. I should imagine these prehistoric beasties caused a lot of problems for them before their capture. Beacon Park, located in the heart of Lichfield, is a historic Victorian garden that has been meticulously restored to its former glory. Spanning over 70 acres, the park features formal gardens, an 18-hole par-3 golf course, and opportunities for brass rubbing. The renovation project funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund and Big Lottery Fund in 2010 and 2011 revitalized Beacon Park along with Minster Pool and Walk and the Garden of Remembrance.
Really lovely park in Lichfield with views of the cathedral. Lots of play equipment for children and a nice well maintained lake. I visited in early spring when the daffodils were in full bloom. It also has a rose garden. Cheap parking in car parks ajoining the park. Lichfield is a lovely city to walk around and Beacon Park is a great place to relax in.

A beautiful park for both those looking for a quiet place to rest or read a book, those that are more active and perhaps want nice views on a run or cycle, or to use the table tennis tables or other sporting facilities, to feed the ducks or take the children to the play area! Always beautifully landscaped and in bloom with the gardens being tended to and very well kept. Many events throughout the year held here too including music events, car shows and fireworks so can even be enjoyed into the evening!

Beacon Park, nestled in the heart of Lichfield, is a tranquil gem for the locals. The park spans a generous area, providing ample space for cycling, walking, and dog walking. Families will appreciate the large play area, complete with swings, climbing equipment, play logs, and various play equipment. For sports enthusiasts, there are well maintained tennis courts available. One of the park's highlights is its charming small lake, offering picturesque views of the nearby cathedral, adding to the serene ambiance. It can be quite tranquil during quieter times, making it a pleasant spot for relaxation, it might not be worth a special trip for visitors from afar. However, for locals, Beacon Park is a lovely and convenient place.

West Park is a 17-acre Victorian-era park that offers a picturesque setting with its beautiful lawns, lakes, and Victorian architecture. Open to the public from Thursday to Sunday each week, this archetypal Victorian park features sweeping lawns, botanical gardens, forested avenues, and ornamental lakes. It boasts Grade II listed structures such as a bandstand and lakeside conservatory. The park also provides amenities like tennis courts, a bowling green, and a children's play area.
Lovely big open space to bring the kids. They do events throughout the year as well. It's a nice big playground for babies/toddlers and big kids alike. Toilets on site as well as a small cafe area. Massive pool to come and feed the birds. Plenty of seating dotted around. Free parking is allocated all around the park itself. Some history aspects to look at. Picturesque views. Band stand areas. Exotic plant area which a lot of the time isn't open to the public. Nice family day out to be had here or just some down time to yourself

Such a lovely park to walk around: a lake with lots of water birds; lots of different trees; tennis courts and exercise area; play area for the children; public toilets; a place to buy ice-cream. There are lots of benches to sit and enjoy the park and a lovely area with flower beds too. Lots of free car parking spaces around the outside of the park.

Beautiful park, you can bring a picnic. There are benches all around the park so you can sit in shade or in sun. There are greylag geese, Canadian geese, mallards and coots, swans, squirrels, pigeons and seagulls. It is absolutely huge and full of beautiful trees and flowers. Can easily spend an entire day there. Take sweetcorn and peas defrosted and some bread, nut mix for the squirrels and bird seed for pigeons, and you’ll have friends following you all day. One of my favourite places on earth!!

West Park in Wolverhampton is a nice peaceful retreat with lots of Wildlife and Nature, as well as beautifully patterned planting beds. I really enjoy walking around there for meditation and fresh air, especially on a Sunny day. The only downfall I'd say is there seem to be a few homeless people who frequently sleep on one of the benches. It's embarrassing that it's the year 2025, money circulating by the trillions, and yet still homelessness isn't addressed at all!. Drug addiction and alcoholism are still supported via an enabling coupon System, and it's just accepted as the norm. I feel sorry for these people. Other than that, it's a beautiful park worth a visit. I regularly do photography here.

Blakesley Hall Museum is a well-preserved Tudor house in Birmingham, dating back to 1590. It offers visitors a glimpse into the city's agricultural past with its classic Tudor architecture and original fixtures. The museum is located in the suburb of Yardley and features picturesque gardens that provide a tranquil escape.
We visited as a family for the first lot of Tudor Christmas Tours and we weren't disappointed! Plenty of things to see and really immerse yourself in what life was like in Tudor times, and afterwards, for both the landowners and for the people working and living there. Our tour guide was wonderful, really knowledgeable, and our daughter loved it too. We'll be back in the summer to see the gardens in full bloom!

If you like historical buildings, this is a good one. 1590s build, with additional work over the centuries. Great guide, knowledgeable and interesting, delivered with a bit of humour as well. Overall the staff were lovely, the grounds immaculate and the house well presented and interesting.

This place is a hidden gem. Takes you back to the good old days. Last time I came here was in primary school. A good 20 years ago. The blakesley has been maintained very well. The courtyard is free to roam and take some picturesque photos. Some many apple trees, white flowers and yellow flowers. To into Blakesley there is a £8 charge for adults and £4 (I think) for children. They also have a small shop for which you can purchase merchandises and small gifts. There's also free parking on site.

A gorgeous house with lots to see, and charming guides full of knowledge to inform. The guides let visitors in at intervals with a good introduction to the history of the house, then you're free to wander at your leisure. The house is well kept and fully furnished in the style of the day. Especially good is the family room with costumes for dress up and puppets and theatre for putting on your own productions, as well as books, and blocks for building, to keep the little ones entertained for a good while. Well recommended.

Had a lovely afternoon out for Apple day on October 3rd. They had lots of things for the kids to do and and a craft fair was on in the hall, it was brilliant. The hall itself is wonderful and there are guides there that can answer any questions you have. The building was built in 1590 but Is impeccably maintained. There's a little family room upstairs with toys and games and stuff. The stairs are quite steep and might be a challenge for some people. The site isn't massive but there's a nice cafe and a small garden to walk around. I think we will definitely go back in the future.

Beautiful house in a beautiful setting. The guides are extremely knowledgeable and are fantastic with children. The hall itself is kept very well and laid out as it would have been back then, with some exhibits kept in immaculate glass housing. There is also a café and shop which are fairly well priced and you are able to bring your own food and sit in the gardens when the weather is good. Also highly recommend getting some of the lavender goods which is grown on site.

Beautiful gardens and an amazing house to look at. We didn't go inside as it was around £18 for a family ticket and we were a little short of cash this month!! I'd definitely go inside when I'm flush though as we looked through the windows and it looked awesome inside.

Chasewater Country Park in Burntwood, Staffordshire is a beloved destination for outdoor enthusiasts. The 90-hectare reservoir offers opportunities for watersports such as sailing, wakeboarding, and paddle boarding. Visitors can enjoy wildlife watching, walking trails, and cycling around the picturesque lake. Families can also explore the mini castle overlooking the reservoir or embark on a Treasure Trails detective mystery trail. Additionally, Chasewater Railway provides train rides through the park's scenic surroundings.
A great place to visit solo, or with friends and family, Chasewater Country Park is a must for outdoor lovers! I’ve been a few times now - including as a group with church, a family trip with my parents, and, most recently a solo trip where I ran a 5k around the larger of the two lakes. In each instance, I had a great time! There’s plenty to do! There’s a gift shop, a café and a play-area for the kids. Not to mention an ice-cream parlour, a railway station and museum, and a variety of water sports available. There are also different walks you can take around the lakes, across meadows and through woodland (marked by different coloured arrows) – and at only £3.50 for all-day parking, it’s well worth it. Highly recommended for the whole family! You won’t be disappointed :)

Lovely just to relax in the sun on Wednesday one of the hottest days. Sat in the shade & had our picnic very nice quite a lot people about. Free parking with our blue badge. Had a walk around the one that is annoying us the chasewater shop & is always closed and the toilets what's going on. So we walked it around to the little cafe and had a lovely ice cream

Beautiful walk, very accessible for push chairs, wheel chairs & some all terrain mobility scooters. There's a beautiful lake, a railway cafe half way through and deers closer than ive ever seen. There's lots of parking and a cafe on the carpark.

Our first visit to Chasewater Country park, I would have given it 5 stars but the kissing gates lets it down i had to break my disability scooter down to get through them , Had there been signs saying kissing gates on the route we took we would have gone another way round to avoid them ,Its about time this sort of gate is outlawed and replaced with spring loaded normal gates . This is a stunning country park and the wild Red Deer are a sight to behold if you can spot them, A popular place for dog walkers and over the 3 mile route we took there were very few rubbish bins and there were pooh bags hanging from trees and along the path ways some dog owners need to take a long hard look at themselves , Get there early if you want to park your car it gets busy very fast and there is a small parking charge that you pay at the visitors centre , Blue badge holders park free but there are no allotted disabled parking bays , The only toilets are at the visitors centre and the two train station cafes , Would i personally go again probably.

It was nice and quiet, the old trians and the little shops inside the carriages was nice. And the amount of deer we saw was lovely, never been so close to deer before. A nice day out somewhere different , just wet grey English weather

Highly rated day out with kids! Fantastic parks and cycle paths for kids. All flat terrain. Ice cream shops readily available. Only note would be to make sure you take change for the car park, as the card reader facility doesn't work.

Stunning views over the lake great for a walk around with the dog. Lovely icecream palor and cafe to get food and drinks from. Also lots of benches and seating dotted around for picnics. You do have to pay for parking but for less than £4 for the day it's ok.

Sarehole Mill Museum is a restored 18th-century working mill located next to the River Cole and Moseley Bog in Birmingham. It offers hands-on demonstrations, guided tours, and Victorian bakehouse exhibits. The mill served as inspiration for Hobbiton in The Lord of the Rings, making it a must-visit for Tolkien fans. The annual Middle Earth Festival celebrates Tolkien's work with re-enactments and themed experiences.
Following the footsteps of the greatest author in the world, we ended up at the Sarehole Mill, a place that had a large impact on JRR. Tolkiens life and works.
Eärendil S — Google review
Took my Year 4 class there to visit as part of their Geography field trip. The children loved it, gave them some knowledge on how to measure the water depth, the purpose of stepping stones to regulate water flow and they also cross link it to their science lesson (living things and habitats) where the children asked questions about the various plants by the river. Children got to fish and learn about different lifeforms in the river water. Staff were great, knowledgeable and patient! Would be interesting for fans of J.R.R Tolkien (he lived in the house opposite Sarehole Mill)
Sruti S — Google review
Such a hidden gem! The museum is mostly about Tolkien and his life in Birmingham which is very interesting as an LOTR fan. When you reach the actual mill part and all the structures, everything is a perfect picture of the past, it’s amazing how well preserved it is. Also the staff are lovely! It’s a bit tricky to get to and the opening hours are limited, also sadly their tea room is closed at the moment, but it is worth a visit, especially alongside a walk around the pond which is very pretty.
Simi T — Google review
Went here yesterday and as a big fan of Lord Of The Rings it was very nice to see and experience a little bit of the life of Tolkien as a little boy. It was small but a beautiful place, absolutely loved to learn a little more about the thoughts and inspirations behind LOTR.

Very nice and cute museum about Tolkien's childhood and inspirations. I was very surprised to find out how rural Birmingham used to be!
Gabriela L — Google review
My husband and I, being Tolkien fans, were definitely excited about doing this tour as part of our visit to Birmingham! Our initial research into the museum and the mill set us up to expect a nice tour of the mill, an intimate look into the years that Tolkien spent at the mill, and the pizza at the café. The first two items (the mill and the Tolkien trivia) were an amazing experience! We definitely recommend this tour to anybody who wants to visit a good old run down watermill simply to see the works, or if you're a Tolkien nerd as well! Our tour guide was Ash, and he was marvellous! The tour lasted about an hour, during which he took us through the floors of the mill, explaining in immersive detail what milling was all about back in the day, occasionally treating us to a bit of insight into Tolkien's life back when he lived around the mill. The third aspect that we were looking forward to (the pizza) was unfortunately a big disappointment. Not only was it mediocre at best, we also had to wait over an hour just for our order to be taken! (No, it wasn't that crowded. They were "backed up" with another order apparently.) So after over an hour of waiting to place an order (during which time we had filled up on tea and cake because we were just sitting there hungry and waiting), and then a wait of about 20 minutes for our pizza to arrive, we were quite disappointed with what we were served. In summary: definitely do the tour and take your time exploring the park and the trail, and the mill area.
Nadia F — Google review
It's an enjoyable short day out in the fresh air for a family with young children. You can book a guided tour of the Mill, which is about 30 minutes max, and afterwards explore the nearby park and Moseley Bog. We took packed lunches because the cafe is not open at the moment. We stayed from 11am until 3pm.
Karen C — Google review
I have been to the mill a few times for the pizza pod experience and it has always been great! Highly recommended to anyone looking for a bit of an escape from the mundane city ( in the city) for a bite to eat and to relax. They also have a selection of soft drinks available, not licence for alcohol though. The mill its self is a wonderful charming place.

The Transport Museum Wythall, established in 1977, is a family-friendly attraction featuring a diverse collection of over 100 vintage buses, coaches, fire engines, and battery-operated vehicles from the Midlands and beyond. Open on weekends from April to October, the museum offers interactive displays and opportunities to board various vehicles. Visitors can also enjoy a miniature steam railway and a play area for young children. The knowledgeable volunteers enhance the experience by providing insights into the exhibits.
What an absolute gem of a place. I haven’t sat on a bus in years and to have a ride on a piece of history was amazing. We attended by accident on one of the car club days and lucked out because they had some really beauties on show. My little one absolutely loved the bus ride and the miniature railway (additional cost). There was also a bouncy castle (additional cost!) and a kids shed with lots of toys to keep her busy. Was a really nice calm day out and I thoroughly enjoyed something a little bit different. Will definitely be coming back and highly recommend!
Nadia K — Google review
A really great place to visit for kids and adults alike! The heritage bus rides are great fun and it's so good that they're included in the admission price. The kids loved the miniature railway too as well as all the little play bits for them around the place. For the engineering and history buffs there's plenty to read and see too. We will definitely be going back again!

What a gem this place is. Very reasonably priced. Great for kids who love transport and buses. My son loved it. So many buses on display in two different areas. Lovely small plag area and they had another smaller for kids to play. Also has a play house at the back for kids too. Nice cafe and a great open top bus ride free with entry fee. There is a small charge for the train which is fine. Time flies it was a great experience with the family. Will be returning. Also plenty of parking and some lovely classic cars were on display as well. The staff were very friendly and very accommodating.

Attended the August Bank Holiday event. Visited on the Sunday and enjoyed it some much my wife and I returned on the Monday. The various bus rides brought the memories flooding back, and the tour of the workshop was very informative. Everyone was so knowledgeable. Drivers of these elderly buses demonstrate great skill.

This place is incredible. Visited with our autistic granddaughter and it's hard to keep her interested but she loved everything here. So many vehicles in the museum to see and climb into and pretend to drive. The miniature train is brilliant and goes round twice. The open top bus ride is the best, we did it twice and it's free. There's so much for families of all ages. The staff and volunteers are so friendly and helpful. Food and drink to buy or take your own picnic, plenty of places to sit. Such a reasonable price and even though it's the school holidays and it's only open on Wednesday on weekdays it didn't feel over busy at all. We love it and will be back again soon.

Lightwoods Park and House is a stunning recreational retreat with vast green lawns, beautiful gardens, a play area, skate park, and tennis court. Situated on around 12 hectares of parkland, this Grade II-listed house has recently undergone an impressive restoration worth £5.2 million to revive its 18th-century magnificence.
Light Wood Park is a fantastic place to relax and enjoy nature! The park is beautifully maintained, with plenty of open green spaces, walking trails, and trees that provide a peaceful escape from the busy surroundings. It’s perfect for families, joggers, or anyone who just wants to unwind outdoors. The children’s play area is well-equipped and safe, keeping the little ones entertained for hours. There’s also plenty of seating scattered around, making it ideal for picnics or simply sitting back and soaking in the scenery. What I really appreciate is how clean and inviting the park feels, with bins conveniently placed to encourage visitors to keep it that way. It’s clear that a lot of care goes into its upkeep.

This park has a nice open grass area that includes both a kids’ playground and a small skate spot. The car park is quite limited in size and closes from 6 PM, which isn’t very convenient. However, you can easily find parking in the nearby streets with very close access. I’m not sure about the general accessibility, and I didn’t notice a designated picnic area with tables or shelters – it looks more like an open space rather than a proper picnic area.

In the house, A very large selection of wines, beers and ciders. If you don’t want alcohol there’s lovely herbal teas, so many to choose from it’s wonderful. The food is delicious but quite expensive if you’re on a budget. The staff are brilliant! Great to sit outside on a sunny day with an ice cold coffee ☕️ There’s meetings, workshops and other creative activities going on. Love it! #1000tradesonthepark

Castle Bromwich Hall & Gardens Trust is a 10-acre walled garden with over 600 species of plants and a holly maze. The garden is open from 10:30am to 4:00pm on Wednesdays, and admission is free.
We visited last week as a family of 6 and it cost us just over £20 for 2 adults and 3 children, under 5's free. Most national trusts offer a discounted family pass, perhaps this could be introduced to make it more affordable. The gardens are beautiful and very well kept, historic buildings have a lot of interesting information, volunteers are friendly and approachable and doing a fab job at maintaining the place. I would say it's a hidden gem in the middle of Castle Bromwich. My children loved the play areas and the archery lawn was perfect for them to run up and down on.

Lovely morning out, with teenager and oap in tow! Fair entrance pricing and made even better with 2 for 1 deal as we hold a National Trust card, even though it isn't NT. Nice autumn day to stroll through the gardens. Lovely size for what we were wanting, impressive considering volunteer ran. Good Holly maze, and plenty of nice features to admire, box hedges, walled garden, greenhouse, etc. A fabulous cafe offering really good value and delicious cakes, coffees, toasties, etc. A shop offering homemade jams, chutney, cards, books etc. All in all a lovely visit, and worth going to..would be keen to revisit in the spring/summer.

Lovely place with a well maintained garden and plenty of benches to sit on and enjoy the views and weather. Small cafe if you fancy a drink and also two toilet facilities. Garden must have been fantastic in it's heyday but looking rather sad now, not helped by the very dry weather. Some interesting features but the plants were nothing special and I assumed they just don't have enough volunteers or funding to do it as well as it deserves.

First time visiting with 2 kids. Nicely filled 2 hours and could have stayed longer. Not a particularly big site but lots of little areas of interest for kids and plenty of shade. Flowers looked a little tired from the hot dry spell we have experienced. Cafe was reasonably priced, although be warned, tea is by the mug (not pot) and gets made up for you. Would definitely come here again if we lived a little closer.

I came to Castle Bromwich hall for my 50th birthday, almost 6 yrs ago. It was just at start of covid & we came for afternoon tea. It was absolutely AMAZING, with lovely staff & the food was yummy. Sadly I never for a second thought it was going to be the last time I saw my beautiful Mum as I lost her less than a week later, only 17months after my amazing Dad, & only 9 months after my dear brother in law. After losing Mum I also lost 12 friends that same year too. I was so glad I had a lovely time with my family & a long time friend who was also 50 3 days before so I invited her to come & share my "party". Thankyou to all the staff who were on then & made it a wonderful time. 17 / 03 / 2020 😪😪😪

Had a fantastic visit to RSPB Sandwell Valley recently! It’s a beautiful, peaceful spot that’s perfect for birdwatching and relaxing in nature. The staff and volunteers were really welcoming and helpful. During my visit, I spotted some amazing birds, including oystercatcher, lots of geese, and many other species. The hide is brilliant — well maintained and perfectly placed to give you a great view without disturbing the wildlife. It’s such a calm and relaxing place to sit quietly and enjoy nature. The only downside was a few bike riders passing nearby with very loud engine sounds, which disturbed the peace a little and seemed to unsettle some of the birds. It didn’t ruin the visit, but it would be even better if the area could be kept quieter for both visitors and wildlife. Overall, it’s a wonderful place and I highly recommend a visit if you love nature, birds, and some quiet time outdoors!

Plenty to see here 👍. The hide was a bit noisy though as someone was checking what their group had seen from a long checklist. They could have done that back at the visitor center. Nestled just a short 15-minute journey from Birmingham city center, Handsworth Park is a stunning 63-acre green oasis that beautifully marries history with modern leisure. Originally established in 1888 as Victoria Park, this Grade II listed gem underwent an impressive restoration in 2006, thanks to significant lottery funding. Visitors can wander through its meticulously landscaped grounds adorned with vibrant flower beds and majestic mature trees.
I want to write an extensive review of this park because there are so many features worth mentioning. I had the pleasure to spend a windy but sunny winter morning in this expansive park, which is a haven for nature enthusiasts and families. It is well-maintained with plenty of litter bins and dog waste bins scattered around. The park offers clear walking and running paths. Numerous benches are scattered throughout, providing perfect spots to relax and a welcoming escape. The family-friendly environment is evident, with easy access from multiple entry points and a fairly big car park by the Holly Road entrance. The lush greenery and big lake by the Hamstead Road entrance, populated with geese and other birds, enhance the park's natural charm. There is another, smaller, lake by the cricket ground. For children, there's a well-equipped playground that promises hours of fun. Sports fans will appreciate the basketball, football, and cricket grounds available. Additionally, the park boasts vibrant murals that add a splash of color and creativity to the surroundings. There's also a mile-long blue walk line, designed to help and encourage people to lead a healthy lifestyle, perfect for a leisurely stroll or an invigorating jog. There's one drawback: the lack of public toilets. This can be a bit inconvenient for visitors, especially those with young children. I believe there are some in the leisure centre but if it is close, you won't have access. Overall this park is truly a place that enriches the lives of the local communities and reminds us of the beauty and tranquility that nature provides.

The LEGOLAND Discovery Centre & LEGO Store in Birmingham is a paradise for both kids and adults, offering a variety of themed areas to explore. With attractions like the 4D cinema, MINILAND, and two exciting rides, it's an ideal destination for families. The center features 10 themed LEGO play zones, a build and test area, and a soft play space all under one roof. This indoor attraction ensures that visitors can enjoy their experience regardless of the weather.
Visited for my youngest birthday treat a few weekends ago and had an amazing time. Initially it looked quite small but there's so much to do we spent the entire day here. It has a 4 d cinema, pedal ride, and shoot from a cart ride all of which are great fun and had short queues. Then there are numerous build areas that the children couldn't get enough of. Lego friends, race track, car test ramp, earthquake test area, and others. There are some added extras you can buy too such as a build session and vr ride, plus a activity booklet. None of which were expensive. The staff were super helpful and friendly. The Costa was reasonable and fresh for lunch. Had an amazing time and will be back.

Went before and didn't rate it. This time went on opening and seemed to be lots better. There was plenty of Lego to use and build things. Both boys got a Lego bee reward for making and showing their inventions (which wasn't on after we got ours that I saw). We did the master builder and Oscar was absolutely wonderful with the kids. It was very busy after lunch, too many people could barely move

We have Merlin passes, and are really keen to visit all of the attractions available to us. I wasn't sure what to expect from the discovery centre, but I was pleasantly surprised. There were a couple of rides to go on, my son loved the shooting ride, and we tried this a few times to get better scores each time. Plus there were a couple of soft play areas for different age groups, which kept me daughter busy for ages! There are lots of Lego stations around, with different themes, so both kids could build and have fun. My son loved building a car for the ramp. I'm not sure how much this place costs, but if you have a merlin pass and are in the midlands, I would definitely recommend it. It can keep the kids busy for a couple of hours easy, and then you can go to the sea life centre after to complete your day

Such a fun family day! Lots to do, play with and explore. There is a 4d cinema (highly recommend!), soft play and various zones to build and explore. We spent half a day here and could have been here longer. There is also a Costa coffee with reasonable meal deals. Our daughter wants a birthday party here next!

Fun family day out. I thought perhaps the place would be bigger but don't let size fool you. Lots of fun activities to do and time went fast. Personal favourite was the 4D cinema which was a great immersive experience. The soft play areas were enjoyable too, lots of fun was had. Would recommend a visit for sure.

I can say this is one of the best indoor spots for families with young kids. The MINILAND is a real highlight — detailed LEGO models of Birmingham landmarks that light up from day to night are amazing to see. The rides, 4D cinema, and creative build zones keep children entertained for a few hours, and the staff are friendly and great with kids. That said, locals know to book online and visit early, as it gets crowded on weekends and holidays. It’s not huge, so most families spend around 2–3 hours here. The café is fine but a bit pricey — many visitors prefer grabbing food nearby in Brindleyplace after the visit. Don’t miss the LEGO Store on your way out; it’s packed with exclusive sets and fun souvenirs. Overall, it’s a great half-day outing that brings out every child’s imagination — and a bit of nostalgia for the adults too.

A great place for kids and LEGO fans! LEGOLAND Discovery Centre in Birmingham offers a variety of attractions, from creative building zones and a mini 4D cinema to rides and a playground. The children were thrilled with the opportunity to create their own creations and the interactive attractions. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The only downside is the relatively short visit time for the ticket price – it might be a bit too challenging for older children. Despite this, the visit was a great success and full of colorful fun. It's worth a visit!

We had such a fun day at LEGOLAND! It’s perfect for toddlers with tons to see and do. my little one was entertained non-stop. The rides and play areas are super kid-friendly, and there’s so much colorful, creative stuff everywhere. Definitely a great family spot, and we’d absolutely go back again!

A wonderful park to walk around, or just sit on one of the many benches and take in the view.

Great park local park ! Really clean and looked after ! Wonderful views and even extends to a nature trail ! Nice mix of wildlife , including a turtle if you can find it ! Very hilly , but still accessible for enough area to have a good time !

Besutiful always but especially lovely in the winter sunshine. Beautiful scenery and great walks. Lovely early signs of spring today in a later visit than the winter views. There was an interesting outdoor art exhibition too. New since my previous visit: on going work on one of the bowling greens. It looks as though it's going to become a formal garden.

Fantastic space for walking and lovely play bits for children. Just shame about dog mess left lying around though on some grass areas. Need to watch with children about.
Helen Y — Google review
Lovely little park but very steep in places so not ideal for very old people not good on their feet but for everyone else it’s fine . The park has two ponds a big one at the bottom of the park and a small one at the top of the park . On a nice clear day you can also sit on the benches near top of the park with nice views of Clent hills . Park also has kids apparatus to play on which is better than average. All in all a nice little park for a stroll for an hour or just over .

Great park for children, adults and dogs. So much to see and do here, in all weathers. The park is great for kids and there’s so much green space you could walk around and not see a lot of people. The ponds and trails are lovely.

East Park, established in 1896, spans 18 hectares and features various amenities such as walking paths, football pitches, a paddling pool, and tennis courts. The park has consistently maintained its Green Flag status for several years. Along with other parks like West Park, Phoenix Park, and Bantock Park, it offers an ideal setting for a budget-friendly day out with opportunities for picnics and leisurely strolls.
Lovely park, just some updates in regard to facilities- there is no paddling pool anymore instead there is a splash pad and new larger play area. Splash pad gets turned on towards the end of spring start of summer. Other details seem to be correct, public toilets which are open daily and usually between the hours of 8-3pm. Parks opening times vary throughout the year with it closing gradually later in the summer months so make sure to check the notice boards on site to avoid getting locked inside. Very nice park to walk around plenty of room for football and other activities such as tennis or walking your dog. Cherry blossoms around the bandstand in spring are beautiful.

Last time I came here there was a paddling pool, it has now been adapted, to a multi function play area with a spray water area, lovely for the children on a hot day also adapted for disabled users, granddaughter said it's the best park ever 😁

Lovely, fair sized park in the middle of a mostly industrial area. A quiet oasis a mile or so out of the city centre, where you can park up and have a few minutes peace... Or eat your lunch... Had a proper walk around it today, and I am amazed by how much they have packed into this park. Great paths around the edge (just over a mile in length) and others meandering through clumps of trees. Football pitches, a parade ground, clock, bandstand, children's playground, lido and even a bicycle club track...
Brian M — Google review
Visited here a number of times. Great paths for a nice walk around the perimeter and through park. Play area looks great for kids, water fountains on sometimes. Also some gym items. Toilet block open in the middle of park. Plenty of well behaved dogs, lots of space for them.

The park is nice and beautiful. It has lots of playing activities like football fields, basketball, children playing ground, etc. There is Morden children playing area under construction which will open very soon after construction. Lots of gym, sports and exercise apparatus there. Lots of people were coming there to exercise including running and cycling. The very well known pool has now converted into Morden children playground which was still under construction. The place is quiet and cool, nice for quiet time and relaxations. I enjoy visiting there with my family. Recommended.

Nestled in Wolverhampton, Bantock Park is a delightful blend of history and nature that invites visitors to unwind and explore. Originally the home of Baldwin Bantock, a notable local businessman, this park boasts the charming Bantock House Museum, which showcases the family's legacy since its establishment in 1938. The park features expansive green spaces ideal for family outings or leisurely strolls along its circular paths.
My favorite park foe walks. Nice and big nature friendly area, where you can walk with your dog, good playground gor kids, very beautiful places, Bartok Cafe, pet friendly, tasty and welcoming. Nice Bantok museum. Many events happening there.

Nice open spaces for a game of footie, play area, green gym equipment, golf putting area. Home to Bantock House museum with a good cafe. Rose garden. Circular path, great for a stroll, run or dog walk. The loos are in the cafe courtyard so not open after about 5 or 6pm, but the Hungry Horse pub is nearby. A reasonable amount of parking but it can get busy. There are often events in and around the house such as antique fairs, craft fairs etc. There are other events such as bouncy castles and outdoor theatre in the summer.

Nice small park, needs a sections for the little ones! But still able to take little one here. Big open fields eithe side and between park and small adventure playground that was tucked away in the corner. Plenty of space!

This is a good community park. The local residents are predominantly Sikh and it's a great place for families and people to exercise or chill out. I'd give it a 5 star because the exercise facilities are all in good condition (see photo) and spread nicely around the pathways, but there is quite a lot of litter which is unfortunate. Nonetheless, a good local asset, right off the vibrant Dudley Road.
