Restaurant
Nestled in Lahaina, Hawaii, Star Noodle is a beloved spot known for its Asian shared plates, noodle dishes, and sake cocktails. Since 2010, this hotspot has been serving up traditional Hawaiian comfort food in a cool space with an ocean view. The menu features a variety of shareable starter plates like smashed cucumber salads with miso-chili sauce, steamed clams with miso butter, and adobo ribs with black pepper vinegar.
We ate at Star Noodle and it was absolutely phenomenal. Every dish blew us away! The butter noodles paired perfectly with the butterfly fish, and the Singapore noodles with short rib were packed with flavor. We ended on a sweet note with the malasadas for dessert perfection. 5 stars, highly recommend this spot

We really wanted to have a WOW experience after the recommendations and reviews but it fell a little flat for us. The atmosphere is nice, just a little bright. (Would be nicer if the lights were not so bright like a cafeteria.) The front staff was polite. We were seated on time. Our waiter was lackluster… not mean but certainly not friendly. The waiter barely greeted us and seemed overall disinterested in his job. The pork buns were good, not spectacular. The Look Moore Funn had one scallop and maybe three shrimps, the portion being pretty small but it did taste good. My daughter had the garlic noodles and they were super dry, she had to add soy sauce to give it any flavor and not make it so dry. My husband had the pad Thai, he liked it but a lot of noodles with little shrimp and chicken. We probably wouldn’t go back if we were to return to Hawaii.

When I first visited Hawaii, Star Noodle was one of my most memorable stops. I tried the Star Kim Chee, Steamed Pork Buns, and Singapore Noodles — each dish had such bold flavors and felt so comforting after a long day of exploring. I finished with Malasadas, and it was the perfect sweet ending. Such a special food experience to remember my trip by!

Lighting was very bright. While 8 appreciate being able to see my food and take pictures, it would have been nice to dim them just a little. However, food was absolutely fantastic and service was excellent. Host was exceptional, kept a smile and cool head while super busy. Kept those waiting for tables organized and sat in a timely manner. Hats off to her for helping this place run like a well oiled machine. Wish we were staying longer so we could go back and try more. Can't wait for our next trip to Maui.
Kelly D — Google review
This place takes noodles to the next level. The dishes are prepared with so much delicate texture and flavors. The tempura shrimp is amazing! The shrimp is super fresh. The most unique piece is the shiso sprouts to bring out the shrimp freshness. Noodles are definitely freshly made or it wouldn’t be so chewy to the taste, I wonder if they mixed bud weed with wheat so not your normal ramen. I would love to come back to dine here again! Superb!
Anna Y — Google review
Really wanted to like this place but reviews are pretty spot on about it being overpriced and underwhelming. Food for two and one mocktail came out to about ~$150 after tax and tip but I guess thats normal for mediocre meal in Hawaii. I would not order the garlic noodles, crab and kombucha mandu or the ahi belly again. The Lahaina fried soup was the only thing we really liked. Barely any crab in the mandu, only taste the kombucha. At $18 for 3 measley pieces, a bit of a waste. Ahi belly was also tiny and overcooked. Couldn't tell if it was just any old regular piece of tuna. I've had better garlic noodles at any other vietnamese spot that included either steak or shrimp. These were lacking in flavor and didnt like the thin noodle. Service was great though. Go for the Lahaina fried soup. You can skip everything else we ordered.
James C — Google review
We loved Star Noodle so much, we went 3 times. We especially loved the garlic noodles and the Asian ribs (they go well together). We also loved the udon soup. We had reservations the first night (the ambience was perfect), the second time we got the soup for take out, and the 3rd time we were planning on take out, but they had room at the bar. So make reservations, but if you can’t get it, take it to go and find a nice spot to eat it.

What a wonderful meal, literally one of the best pieces of steak we’ve ever had! The food was delicious, the service was top notch and the location was just magnificent. We will definitely be back!

Sansei Seafood Restaurant & Sushi Bar is a trendy and vibrant eatery that offers Japanese-Pacific Rim cuisine and creative sushi rolls. Located in a plantation-style building, the restaurant is known for its contemporary atmosphere and innovative dishes. The menu features a variety of options, including panko-crusted ahi sashimi, the famous Kapalua Butterfly roll, shrimp dynamite, crab ramen, and Asian shrimp cake.
Great place for good sushi and seafood. The Grilled Hawaiian Ahi and Shrimp Cake plate was unbelievable and to drink, the Kai Tai was perfect. Our waiter was super friendly and helpful with the menu regarding what our kids can/can't eat. Even talked to the chef to cater to our kids food needs.

Unbelievable! This was the best overall dining experience in Maui. Chris was our waiter and knew every dish and had phenomenal recommendations. We spent half as much as Mama’s fish house and got twice the food and quality
Tyson N — Google review
Came here last night as recommended by a friend’s friend & it did not disappoint! We made a reservation a couple hours beforehand but I’m not sure if it was really needed. Our server, Sonny, was the best! For small plates ordered the panko crusted ahi as recommended by Sonny, & also the lobster crab ravioli which were both delicious. For rolls we did the Hawaiian, scallop & cucumber, spicy hamachi, takah, & unagi rolls which were all tasty. The prices seemed reasonable & weren’t significantly more than what I would pay for sushi at home. I would definitely come again & recommend to friends & family. (For pictures, I didn’t take one of the lobster crab ravioli or I think the unagi roll)

Sansei is more than just a sushi spot—it’s a Hawaiian culinary experience that masterfully fuses Japanese tradition with bold Pacific Rim creativity. Whether you're dining in Honolulu, Waikoloa, Kapalua, or Kihei, expect a lively atmosphere, exceptional service, and a menu that surprises and delights. The food? Fresh, flavorful, and adventurous. The Asian Rock Shrimp Cake is a must-try appetizer: crispy on the outside, tender inside, and rich in umami. The Mango Crab Salad Hand Roll is a tropical dream—sweet, creamy, and perfectly balanced. And the Panko-Crusted Ahi? A standout dish with a golden crunch that gives way to silky, seared tuna. The vibe is upbeat yet casual, perfect for everything from romantic dates to group dinners. The staff are warm and attentive, adding a touch of aloha to every interaction. Sansei manages to be both a local favorite and a tourist treasure. It’s the kind of place you remember long after the vacation ends—and the kind of food you wish you could bring home with you. Rating: 9/10 – A flavor-packed must-visit
Sol I — Google review
Our only regret is we discovered this place the 2nd to last night of our trip but we did make it two nights in a row! If you’re staying at the Ritz, do yourself a favor and make the 7 minute walk here for dinner. Having come back from my first trip to Japan 2 months ago, my standards for sushi were high. However, the melt in your mouth butterfish nigiri along with a tuna crunch roll, was the perfect marriage of US style rolls and Japanese fresh fish. Service was phenomenal both times we were there. We hope to come back soon!
Cate K — Google review
I’m doing another sushi review—with the disclaimer that I usually stick to sushi rolls—but this place is an absolute must-visit. It’s like a culinary theme park for sushi lovers. The rolls and dishes coming out of the kitchen are visually stunning, packed with flavor, and made with fresh, locally sourced ingredients. The staff is outstanding—knowledgeable, friendly, and genuinely welcoming. Even during the off-season, the restaurant drew a steady crowd, which says a lot about its reputation. I can only imagine how packed it gets during peak season. If you plan to visit, I highly recommend making a reservation to secure a seat or at least reduce your wait time. —- 4 days later. Unfortunately, our second visit was a letdown. While the menu still features some great options, it was clear a different chef was behind the counter this time. The sushi rolls were underwhelming—more like small samples than full rolls. To be fair, I’m not a huge sushi fan and usually stick to a familiar category, but even by those standards, these just didn’t measure up.
K T — Google review
We stopped here for a dinner date night while staying at the near by hotel. Craving some sushi, it’s nice to have this restaurant close by to the hotel. The food we ordered was tasty and the fish fresh.
Bay R — Google review
Wow!! You absolutely must try the butterfish. It is hands down one of the best fish dishes I have ever had. The sauce was perfection and it just melts in your mouth. All of the food was excellent, we ordered so much! Nothing disappointed. Us and we had a great time. We went on Monday and showed up around 4:45 to a big line of people waiting for the happy hour. It was a perfect dinner for our last night in Maui!

Japanese restaurant
Nuka is a sleek Japanese venue offering a diverse menu of small plates, sushi, specialty rolls, and a variety of drinks. Located in the sleepy North Shore town of Haiku, it's popular among locals for its seriously fresh sushi and izakaya-style eats. The restaurant serves unique twists on traditional rolls like the Lollipop roll and offers Asian-inspired dishes such as wasabi fries.
As we went to the Road of Hana to explore the Twin Falls we discovered this Japanese restaurant was on the way there. Food was excellent. Cute little place. Staffs were wonderful. Sashimi was fresh. Our tummy satisfied.
Amenita T — Google review
Nuka in Haiku offers a cozy, stylish setting with a menu that leans into Japanese classics. While the sushi and rolls were just okay — fresh but not particularly memorable — the meat skewers really stood out. Perfectly grilled and full of flavor, they were a great surprise and easily one of the best parts of the meal. The real highlight, though, was the miso cod - buttery, tender, and deeply satisfying. It alone is worth coming for. Service was solid and the space has a nice ambiance, making it a good choice if you’re in the area and looking for a relaxed dinner with some standout bites.
JonLuca D — Google review
Delicious sushi spot upcountry. My first time dining at Nuka was outstanding. The highly quality of the fish was noticeable. Everything was fresh and absolutely delicious. We sat at the sushi bar and the sushi chefs were very warm and friendly. The service from our waitress was okay- she wasn’t the friendliest. Our food came out quickly after placing our order which was awesome because we were hungry! We didn’t have a reservation upon arrival and waited about 15 minutes for a party of two. Its indoor dining only and the space is on the smaller side. There is sushi bar seating as well (about 10 spots). We enjoyed the ceviche and mocktails from their evening specials menu, along with the dragonfly roll, maguro nigiri and ahi salad from their regular menu. We’ll definitely be back.
Melinda — Google review
Dined here many many times. The food was always amazing, some of my favorite cocktails, and there has almost always been high quality fish. The waitlist operation is inconvenient, but if you’re willing to get through that then bear in mind you will be treated unkindly by the servers. On multiple occasions I have had horrible service. It’s hard to say how many times i’ve actually enjoyed any service i’ve received here aside from the people that ran the food. Servers are miserable, rude, stuck up, and they do not have any sense of recovery after being rude. It’s unfortunate that I don’t have it in me to leave a bad tip so i’ll always leave 20%, but after my last negative interaction, I will never be returning. It’s unfortunate as the food and drinks are great, sushi chefs are talented, the food runners are nice and friendly, but your server staff is consistently rude and ruins the entire experience. Don’t come here if you want decent service.
Mo — Google review
Before Nuka, this place used to be a Napa store and before that a mini market store. ATMOSPHERE: They're located in a free-standing building on Haiku Road just across the street from the Haiku Cannery mall with lots of free parking. The Asian decor fits the restaurant perfect. It's a small open-air room that fits maybe 50 people max, with regular tables and sushi bar seating. RESERVATIONS: They don't take reservations so be prepared to wait during peak dinner hours especially on the weekend. FAVE FOODS: Karaage Chicken Very small portion but very really good. The chicken was very tender and the light karaage batter was delish. Chicken Katsu Donburi I am a fan of this place after eating this dish! The rice is laced with a sweet/salty soy flavor, topped with a over-hard fried egg cooked in the same sauce, topped with deep fried & super tender chicken katsu strips and finished off with thinly sliced nori. DEELISH! Tempura Shrimp Udon I simply love noodles, so this was an easy decision for my second time here. The broth is a bit sweet but very good (I am NOT a fan of sweet broths but this was an exception). Accompanied by a generous amount of shrimp, green bean, onion and mushroom tempura. Ahi Katsu Donburi Delicious rice dish flavored with a sweet-soy seasoning which is topped with an over-hard fried egg, and chunks of breaded and seared ahi. I personally would've liked to have the ahi cooked all the way through which would make the dish more visually pleasing, though it's still very good overall. Portion size is perfect. SERVICE: Everyone has been great all these years. OVERALL: Maui's best Japanese restaurant.
Maui T — Google review
Food is always delicious, definitely my favorite restaurant on Maui… Our service last night went above and beyond, had a great time and enjoyed every bit of it.
Lelia — Google review
I've been to Nuka twice. Once a few years ago (it was excellent), and this past weekend (it was not). Service: We showed up a few minutes after they opened and scored one of the few open tables. We sat for 10-15 minutes waiting to place a drink order. What we later learned was our server was busy with a table seated after us. I had to ask a different employee for our server. She eventually arrived and didn't apologize for the delay. The service from this point was ok...clumsy, not horrible, but def. not gracious. Cocktails were delivered with no napkin to absorb the sweat off the glass. I've worked the front of the house in fine dining and It felt like the staff receive minimal training, and are delivering food as they would bowls of cereal to their children. Lots of staff only carrying 1-2 items at a time - ie a lack of efficiency. Food: This was better. We tried the miso butterfish, a tempura appetizer on the specials menu, and a variety of sashimi and sushi. These were well prepared, and made up for feeling like they didn't care if we were there or not. Salmon sashimi was not fresh, and remained on the platter after it was sampled. The remainder was fresh and tasty. Summary: Due to it's location and status as the only sushi restaurant for miles, I think management has decided they are busy and customer service doesn't need to be prioritized. That's true until it isn't, and competition appears. Our bill for two came to nearly $250. Did we feel like we got our money's worth and look forward to returning? No.

I literally flew a few thousand miles to eat here again! Bradley.. great to see you again and you always blow it out of the water! Food & service at the sushi bar were outstanding.. if you have ever been here before you know that this is an experience in itself.

Papa'Aina at the Pioneer Inn is a laid-back restaurant located in one of Maui's most historic inns. Run by celebrity chef Lee Anne Wong, it offers farm-fresh cuisine using organic, local ingredients. The brunch-centric spot boasts enduring oceanic views and serves breakfast and lunch offerings that push culinary boundaries.
The best Sunday brunch! Chef Lee Anne Wong has completely transformed the pioneer inn. The food is fresh and delicious with an ever changing menu. You can taste the fresh local ingredients! The French toast is next level along with the Ramen. Order a bunch and share with the table.

Absolutely LOVE this place! My partner and i have been looking for “our brunch spot” and i think we’ve found it here💛🌱 We don’t even drink but we sit at the bar each time we come. The bartenders are super friendly, helpful, and great guys. Joe, Mitch, and Shane. The food has been phenomenal every time. HIGHLY highly recommend this place to locals and those visiting!

If you are looking for a unique breakfast experience and dish then I HIGHLY recommend this place. I learned only after going that the head chef has won a season of top chef or something equivalent to. We started out with the breakfast Ramen and I was absolutely blown away. The maple butter in the broth was just another layer to this magnificent flavor already in this dish. The second choice we ordered was the mapo moco which was another amazing twist on an already great classic. Highly recommend and would love to try this place at a later time for dinner.
Justin A — Google review
As a fan of top chef I was very excited to visit Papa’aina while visiting Maui. We visited twice during our trip, once for breakfast and once for dinner. For dinner we had a reservation, but for breakfast we walked in very early. All of the food was very impressive! Everything was super fresh and incredibly flavorful. Each dish had something that surprised us and we absolutely loved it. My personal highlights were both the breakfast dishes, the special omelet and mahi mahi eggs Benedict, the heirloom tomato salad (prepared literally perfectly, I’ll never forget that vinaigrette), and the beignet desert. Oh and the crudo! I cannot wait to visit Maui again so I can eat here ♥️
Rachel M — Google review
We were here two weeks ago for breakfast. Out of our entire Maui trip this was one of, if not the, best meals we had on the island! We sat in the back courtyard which was quiet, peaceful, and absolutely beautiful. We got a round of drinks to start our vacation off right and we're not disappointed with the bloody Mary and salty dog (both had gin substitutions for the vodka). Our server was fantastic! I can't remember her name...but she was a fellow Californian and had some killer recommendations for the menu and other local places to check out. To eat, we got the French toast and crispy ramen - I normally don't go for sweet breakfast, but as we were on vacation I went for it and WAS NOT DISAPPOINTED! The flavor, texture, and presentation was on point. The crispy ramen was unique, but super good. The egg was perfectly cooked, the pork was delicious, and the noodles were crispy but also softened up if it sat in the sauce. I would definitely recommend stopping by here for breakfast if you are on the West side of the island!
Jacoby B — Google review
Nice place with harbor views and laid back atmosphere. Visited for breakfast. Staff was warm and friendly. Breakfast menu looks like someone wants to be fancy with the menu. Fancy stuff is good, but including a few more basic and/or local choices would be great too. I had corn flake crusted french toast. Very good, but I would have liked it better without the whipped cream (just my preference).
Andrew — Google review
Menu is full of wonderful sounding choices, and the food is delicious. Just missed 5 stars because our food (for 2) did not come out together, which we saw happen at other tables as well. We recommend for brunch and we will be back.

I came here for breakfast and it was damn delicious. Loved the courteousness of the staff. People here are so welcoming. Ordered Egg Sandwich Bagel with Potatoes on side - can be customized however you want it to be. The ambiance is great in this restaurant with vintage and rustic theme all over the place.

Nestled in the heart of Kihei, Cafe O'Lei Kihei is a delightful dining destination that captures the essence of Hawaiian hospitality. This charming bar and restaurant boasts a vibrant atmosphere where you can savor an array of delectable dishes, from fresh seafood to sushi, all crafted with local ingredients. Whether you're indulging in their famous blackened mahi-mahi or enjoying a refreshing cocktail after a day of adventure, this casual eatery provides the perfect backdrop for relaxation.
We went to Cafe O’Lei to celebrate our daughter’s birthday while on vacation in Maui and we absolutely loved it! The food was truly outstanding, the lobster risotto was one of the best meals I’ve had anywhere. The service was wonderful, and the atmosphere was beautiful. Everyone was very friendly and welcoming, and we had a lovely evening. Highly recommend!
Terese L — Google review
Cafe O’Lei in Kihei is such a gem! We stopped in for lunch and left completely satisfied. I ordered the steak tip sandwich, and let me tell you — the fries were absolute perfection. Crispy, golden, and somehow stayed crunchy until the very last bite (seriously, how do they do that?). The sandwich itself was solid — juicy steak tips, melty cheese, and a horseradish aioli that added just the right amount of zing. I only wish it had a little more heat, but that’s just the spice-lover in me talking. The bread had a slightly bitter aftertaste, but it was still hearty enough to hold everything together without falling apart — points for that. My partner went for the fish of the day, which was fresh, perfectly cooked, and had that just-caught Hawaiian flavor you can’t fake. The sides were just as thoughtfully prepared, and everything on the plate felt fresh and well-balanced. On top of that, the service was genuinely amazing — warm, friendly, and attentive without hovering. The place is spotless, too, which always makes me feel like the kitchen is running just as smoothly as the dining room. If you’re in Kihei and looking for a spot with great food, super clean vibes, and service that makes you feel taken care of, this is a must-try. Pro tip: get the steak tip sandwich and a side of fries, and don’t be afraid to ask for extra aioli — you’ll thank me later.

Make a reservation! This is a highly popular restaurant any night of the week and it’s worth it to plan ahead. Everyone comes here for the Maui Onion Soup En Croute and they are right to do so. Cooked in a wood fire oven and delivered fresh and hot to your table. Delicious drinks made expertly, friendly and professional staff, chill and beautiful atmosphere. We ended up staying for a full meal instead of our original plan for soup and a cocktail. Everything was delectable. Make sure to make time to catch the sunset on Kihei beach before dinner.

This restaurant is located in the center Kihei and is an excellent restaurant for local dishes and flavors. It has a casual atmosphere with comfortable tables. The staff is friendly and very efficient. The food is excellent, on par with popular fine dining restaurants. It's known for its mahi mahi. Anything you order will be delicious. Large windows surround the Hawaiian themed dining room. A full bar and counter anchor the center of the dining room.

It is a truly extraordinary experience where you get to know your food: especially as a newbie on Maui! Funny and knowledgeable waiter - a true slam poet! Mahi Mahi fish blackened or as fish and chips are tasty with perfect batter and crunchy French fries. But when it is on the menu, you have to have the Ono fish with Cocos curry on rice. And try Hale Kapena and Maui wowie! And when you still have place in your happy belly try the deserts! We will be back!! Slam poetry of the day: „the ocean is our cooler, the mountains are our ice house“.

It was our last day in Maui and we decided to have dinner in here. After couple of the bad experiences with the food and mostly customer service we didn’t expect anything miraculous, but everything starting with the wonderful hostess, bartender and ending with the marvellous food and cocktails - was gorgeous!!!Thank you for a wonderful last day on Maui. We really enjoyed each bite and sip!

Fantastic!!! We wandered off the resorts to try something local and this place was in the top favorites! The outside first appears to be less than top quality but once you make it upstairs and into the restaurant ans try the food and drinks, you'll want to go back. Our sever was on top of his game and we can't find one thing to complain about. We'll make this a must go to spot everytime we visit maui.
Annali L — Google review
We made reservations for a party of four and naively requested a table with an ocean view. There’s a thin sliver of an ocean view behind the high rise resorts located across the street. The service was rushed. If they had not tried to rush us…. we would have been able to enjoy ourselves. Overall we had less than an hour for dinner. The cocktails were alright. Our appetizers were delicious. If the food had been hot (not room temperature) it would have been good. Overall we were disappointed.

It is renowned for serving top-notch Asian cuisine, including exquisite sushi presentations, modern Asian dishes, and delightful desserts.
Excellent overall Experience. Japengo has a fantastic location on the Hyatt Property, overlooking the Pools, Ocean and massive open Lobby front side. The approach is cool and overall layout is very fun with so many different seating options and perspectives. Cool round bar near entry to hang out at and take it in. Our server Burt was very gracious and knowledgeable and really made us comfortable talking about all things related. We had Spicy Edamane, Seared Hamachi and Garlic Noodles to start and they were all outstanding with great very distinct flavors and textures. For dinner we had the Chefs Special Roll and a Blackened Ahi Roll. Both were beautiful and delicious, very good. Both were California Roll inside, then the Chefs Special had Ahi and Onaga with Black Squid Ink Roe and the other had Blackened Ahi with Wasabi Roe. They treated us to a Pineapple Upside Down Cake which Beautiful and absolutely Delicious. Thank you, Burt and Japengo Team

My absolute favorite place on Maui now! I loved everything about it. The spectacular views, the ambiance, service, and great food!! We had the chefs special roll and the fuju (sp) roll. I had a chirashi bowl, he had roasted pork with kimchi mashed potatoes- YUM!! Excellent service, very friendly! Valet parking.

Great food, delicious sushi and solid cocktail menu. I highly recommend their fried rice. They do a great job of getting that flame kissed flavor from the wok and crispiness into the rice. Sushi is excellent and among the better experiences I've had in Maui. Highly recommend, especially if you're staying at the Hyatt in Lahaina.

We went to Japengo for our 4th wedding anniversary and they did not disappoint. They have a great outdoor seating balcony with great views. The interior deco is like a modern Asian / Japanese look that was cool. Tip* - you can just pull up to the front valet area and let them know you are there for reservations at Japengo and they will provide free parking for you. (Get your ticket validated at the restaurant) and don’t forget to tip your valet! We had the chicken and the steak. The steak was the best steak on our entire visit. Super moist and tender. Perfect. The jadori chicken was tasty, nothing wrong with it but it didn’t impress. We also got the mango prawn salad which could have been more / better. Clams were good in a white wine garlicky sauce - yum. I was eating this sauce with my spoon at the end. Many dishes were highlighting the shiitake mushrooms and the mushroom side dish was also good. Service was good, a little slow. We were done with apps and plates taken and waited another 35 minutes for our main course to come out. Seemed a bit long. We got an amazing dessert there that we think was the best one out of the 4-5 we had around Maui during our stay. It was a layered browny / chocolate cake and ice cream dish and it was very tasty. We would definitely go back and try more of their dishes. We were bummed we didn’t try the fish instead of the chicken. Next time!

The sushi here is great but they wanna kill you with overcompensating rice due to the restaurant being on hotel grounds and thus commanding a premium price. I'm ok with PREMIUM price but not premium rice portions. It ruins the fish ratio. Also, seating at the patio is hot and humid. This creates a problem as the fish get warm on first bite from the sushi chef's table. Inside seating is very limited. Definitely a hit and a miss. The curry seafood dish was just alright. Lobster was over grilled. With Masa name attached to it, they should really use better wasabi. They can afford it

The atmosphere was absolutely beautiful, and the drinks were great. The service was decent, but the food was honestly quite underwhelming. I’m from the Midwest and have had better sushi from my local grocery store! The rolls lacked flavor, and for the price, I expected much more. Unfortunately, it just didn’t live up to the hype. If you’re visiting Maui and looking for truly good sushi, I wouldn’t recommend this spot, but it’s a lovely place for cocktails and ambiance.

Japengo at the Hyatt Regency Maui offers a sophisticated dining experience with stunning ocean views and a menu that blends Asian fusion and Pacific Rim flavors. The sushi is top-notch, and dishes like the Kung Pao Duck Meatballs and Tengu Seafood Curry Bowl showcase the restaurant's creative use of local ingredients. The ambiance, complemented by attentive service, makes it an ideal spot for a memorable evening in Lahaina

Fantastic menu. There’s both inside layers of flavors were unreal and they combined some ingredients I’ve never tried before. All if it perfectly executed in a luxury setting. Come here for sundown! Nice selection is sake as well.

Matteo's Osteria is a charming trattoria known for its modern Italian cuisine and extensive wine selection. Since 2013, chef Matteo Mistura has been delighting guests with scratch-made pastas, fresh fish dishes, and an impressive wine room. The restaurant offers a globally influenced wine list featuring bottles from Italy and California to complement the local catch. With over 60 wines by the glass, it boasts one of the largest selections on Maui.
A Hidden Gem in Maui! The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, with a cozy, upscale vibe that still feels relaxed. I ordered the lasagna and was completely blown away, easily one of the best I’ve ever had. It was rich, flavorful, and perfectly layered with just the right balance of cheese, sauce, and pasta. You can really tell it’s made from scratch with high-quality ingredients and a lot of care. The service was also top-notch, friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable about the menu. Whether you’re a local or just visiting, I highly recommend stopping by Matteo’s. I’ll definitely be coming back next time I’m in town!

Last night we enjoyed another outstanding dinner at Matteo’s in Wailea! This place never disappoints. The service from Suki was excellent. He was warm and attentive. I began with my favorite blood orange Italian soda and Suki recommended to add fresh mint, which was a delightful touch. We always start with our favorite meatball appetizer, it’s the perfect way to begin the meal. The Cesar salad was fresh and full of flavor. Chicken parm is our go-to entrée, and we love that you can swap out the pasta to suit your taste (a small detail that makes a big difference!). We also ordered our other favorite dish, the baked lasagna. Warning, this dish comes out piping hot and packed with rich, comforting flavors, it’s definitely a dish to enjoy at a mindful pace. Consistently delicious food, great service, and a welcoming atmosphere make Matteo’s a favorite we return to again and again!

Came to make a visit to Matteo Osterio after seeing a clip of Guy Fieri eating here. Ordered Fettuccine frutti di mare squid ink pasta with crab, clams, shrimp, with tomato, garlic, white wine, lobster veloute sauce. Ordered Bolognese which is made with tagliatelle pasta with maui co beef and Italian sausage with tomato and Parmigiano-Reggiano. The fettucine frutti di mare and the bolognese were probably some of the best I have ever had. I know they are known for the Bolognese and lasagna but I highly recommend trying the fettucine frutti di mare if you make a visit here. Also ordered the tiramisu for dessert. The mascarpone cream was a little too sweet for my liking but overall it was a great and to a phenomenal dinner. Reservations are highly recommended. Parking is free and adequate spots located in plaza parking lot.

Brought the whole family out for disappointing, bland pasta. We tried the squid ink pasta, bolognese, and the chicken parm, but the best tasting entree was butter noodles… This was overpriced and a major misstep during our Maui vacation. The chicken was overcooked. The seafood was under-seasoned. The appetizers were fine, but not exceptional. The wait staff and venue are lovely. We just didn’t enjoy any of the food.

This place is a gem! The food was wonderful and if you’re gluten free they offer pasta options. We went on a girls trip and were all impressed! The eggplant appetizer was to die for but everything was soooo good. I am a foodie and I highly recommend!

We had the chance to visit Matteo’s while visiting Maui and it was by far our favorite restaurant of our trip! They have authentic Italian cuisine with a great variety of dishes ranging from pastas to seafood to chicken entrees. They are very celiac aware and offer great gluten free options including gluten free bread and most of their dishes can be made gluten free. Service was great and food came out very fast and was delicious. They have a wonderful wine selection as well! Beautiful atmosphere with both indoor and outdoor dining areas. Definitely recommended this place!

Oh, how the years keep piling on. My gang took me out for my birthday dinner here. It was the first time for all of us and definitely won't be our last. LOCATION: They're within the Wailea Town Center, a small strip mall located behind the new Residence Inn Marriott. Parking at night was plentiful due to the other businesses being closed. ATMOSPHERE: They've done a great job with transforming the space into a very warm, inviting and chic eatery. Seating is a mix of in and out, with a small bar, all-glass wine "cellar" and open-view kitchen. MENU: Italian fare including apps, salads, pastas, pizzas, fish, steak, kids menu, happy hour. BEVERAGE: Sicilian Rose This Ketel One martini included prosecco which gave it a nice fizz and sweetened with a white peach nectar. Absolutely delish. So much so, I had four of them!? Or was it five? I wasn't driving so I didn't care, lol! FOOD: House Bread My dislike for focaccia is slowly fading as I loved this. Instead of butter, it came with a healthier hummus spread. Caesar Salad The chunky-cut Romaine leaves were fresh and well-coated in a creamy-tangy caesar dressing and sprinkled with shaved parmesan. Very good version. Bruschetta Al Tonno Because we were a party of four, we added an additional bruschetta so we could each have one. The raw ahi was utmost fresh and teamed with a mix of fresh tomatoes, salty capers, garlic and basil. Crunchy, savory, sweet; the best of three worlds. Bruschetta slices were a bit small but the wonderful flavors made up for their petiteness. Filetto I was torn between the bolognese pasta and this dish but after seeing pics of this, I was sold due to its mouth-watering dark brown sauce. The tenderloin was amazingly tender. I asked for medium rare but it came out more medium; no biggie. Flavor and moisture were strengths of this dish as it was doused in a savory, dark brown demi mushroom sauce. Total heaven. Stewed cherry tomatoes added a nice acidic balance. I failed to comprehend that the lumpy (a positive to me) mashed potatoes were infused with chunks of gorgonzola cheese, a variety I'm not fond of due to its boldness, and was the only downfall. DESSERT: I was treated to a decadent tiramisu in a cup, topped with a sole birthday candle. So sweet of them! One of my friends opted for the affogato which looked divine and must've been as it was devoured in a snap! SERVICE: Absolutely professional, friendly and took great care of us the entire night. Thank you! OVERALL: I'm being more austere with my five star ratings but Matteo's truly deserves it.

Japanese restaurant
Morimoto Maui offers beachfront dining featuring a variety of stylish Japanese creations by Iron Chef Masaharu Morimoto. The restaurant showcases a blend of Japanese and Western-inspired cuisine, highlighting the bountiful produce of Hawaii. Situated at the Andaz Maui resort, the modern architecture takes inspiration from traditional Japanese beach houses, providing an open and airy ambiance with stunning views of the beach and ocean. In addition to sushi, the menu also features dishes prepared with fresh local ingredients.
My husband and I recently dined at Morimoto Restaurant in Hawaii and had an absolutely exceptional experience, thanks to our server and bar manager, Michael. From the moment we were seated, Michael's expertise and genuine passion for sushi and sake truly elevated our visit. He took the time to explain the nuances of each dish, recommended perfect sake pairings, and shared insights that made our meal not just delicious, but educational as well. The food itself was outstanding—each dish beautifully presented and bursting with flavor. Dessert was the perfect ending, perfectly crafted and incredibly delicious. Michael’s friendly demeanor, professionalism, and deep knowledge made our dining experience unforgettable. It's rare to encounter someone who is not only skilled but genuinely passionate about what they do. If you're visiting Morimoto in Hawaii, definitely ask for Michael—you won't be disappointed. Highly recommend!

We enjoyed their appetizers more than entrees. Ribs, carpaccio, and gyoza were all delicious. For main, we ordered spicy hotate roll, duck fried rice, and kushiyaki set. Kushiyaki set was a miss for us - didn’t like that super sweet sauce was smothered on every single one of the skewers and vegetables. Because of that everything just tasted sweet with no other flavors. The black pan that was used for serving those skewers was for presentation only, it didn’t keep the food warm at all. Ended the night with ube cheesecake, enjoyed that too. Given the reviews and the brand, I expected more.

Great ambiance. The staff was kind and friendly [0] Unfortunately, food quality was very disappointing. So their sticky bbq was great. However, 1. their sushi tasted a bit stale. Their Sake ( salmon ) and Sabe ( makarel ) in parituclar tasted like they were left in the sun for too long and just turned a bit bad. 2. Their cocktail, moritale(?), tasted like they forgot to add ingredients. It tasted straight up vodka with a hint of sake. This was our babymoon dinner, and didnt want to ruin it, so I didnt make any complaints. But sushi was too disappointing. [0] There was a small mishap for my order of 20 nigiri x 2 maki set. They mistakenly thought I ordered 10 nigiri set. When they brought it out, I told them about their original order and they brought another 10 nigiri set.
S K — Google review
Appetizers were not bad but rather ordinary - we had the poke tacos, fish carpaccio, and rock shrimp tempura. The 14 oz wagyu steak was way too salty that we could not even finish. Maybe we ordered the wrong dishes but everything was pretty underwhelming. Also, I was surprised that the appetizer plates were not switched out with dinner plates before the main dish, given that it was an upscale restaurant. The sunset views were nice.
Claire K — Google review
We were a bit late and they were very accommodating. Greeted by very kind staff and seated on the patio to enjoy the ocean breeze. Mike was our waiter. Described everything and was so professional. Very low key vibe. Started with sticky ribs and cocktails. There was a minor issue with one of our orders and it was quickly and smoothly resolved. When we return to Maui we will certainly eat here again!

Food is generally wonderful like all other Morimoto locations we've been to. Ribs are always a fan favorite. Steak was delicious. The duck rice and shishito peppers were bland in flavor. Desert was great. Drinks were pricey and lacked punch, which should never be the case for such a classy place. Especially after dropping over $180 per person.

This is my favorite sushi restaurant! The view of the ocean is amazing, especially at sunset. And the food is beyond praise! We tried the chef's choice and everything was delicious and exquisite.

Holy Smokes! What an amazing meal/night! Everything was spot on. From the drinks to the main course to dessert. This place hit all the right notes and left us wanting more. Definitely get the shrimp tempura - the biggest reason I wanted to come back when we visited Maui again. But the short rib appitizer was spectacular and a MUST. I’m telling you! The Yellowtail is heaven, the Surf and Turf was second to none (the lobster was easily my most favorite I’ve ever had). The Cheesecake was to die for! And the malasadas and cream sauce were like clouds of magic. And AARON was our fantastic server. He was like a friendly next door neighbor. What a friendly, informative, and attentive waiter. What a great experience!

But it’s not just about wholesome meals; their bakery is a sweet paradise! Don’t miss out on their chocolate-topped peanut butter truffles—perfect for indulging after a day at Baldwin Beach.
This place is absolutely fantastic. They have such a great selection of natural foods. It’s very fairly priced and lower than in town. The only thing I saw more expensive was the pineapple was cheaper at Whole Foods super vegan friendly so many baked goods. I wish I could shop here all the time.

Every time I visit Paia, I make a point to stop by Mana Foods. They have the best selection of holistic foods. I can always trust the products they carry are natural. The pricing is fair considering what other health foods stores charge these days. The coffee bar at the front to has great drinks.

The store has a cozy, welcoming vibe that sets it apart from larger chains, and the prices are surprisingly reasonable for Maui. Their bakery and deli section is a real treat, offering fresh, delicious options. However, parking can be challenging, so plan accordingly. Despite this, Mana Foods has quickly become a favorite for its snacks, drinks and dedication to quality, making it a must-visit for both locals and visitors seeking healthy, flavorful groceries.

It's known for its friendly service and aloha spirit.
Loved this place! We ate here every day for lunch while staying at the Ritz Carlton up the road. Not only was it extremely affordable compared to everything else in the area, it was fantastic. You can get high quality sashimi and sushi for ridiculously low prices, and they have plenty of other Hawaiian snacks and entrees to choose from. Also would be a good spot to grab souvenirs or sunscreen if you need it!

We stopped here to pickup some beach grinds. ATMOSPHERE: If you haven't been here in a while, you definitely need to go back and check them out. They've done yet another re-transformation into ultra modernness. Entry is now from the side along Office Rd. The perimeter still boasts covered outdoor seating with nice views of the green Kapalua Resort. The inside has totally shifted into a very visually-inviting experience and draws you back towards the takeout counter & coffee bar which is reminiscent of a modern city eatery complete with big & bright electronic menu screens. THE STORE: It's a mix of coffee bar, deli, sundries, groceries, produce, clothing, and wine/beer/alcohol. F&B: Coffee bar, breakfast foods, hot dogs, burgers, chicken wings, sandwiches & salads. FOOD: Honolua Swiss Mushroom Burger If this is offered on any menu, I HAVE to try it! This one did not disappoint. I'd consider it a medium-sized burger which was just right for me. The homemade patty was juicy, the bun soft, and the overall flavor delicious. Off to the side were lettuce, tomatoes and a big quartered dill pickle. Fries came with it (a very generous amount no less,) and I opted for seasoned curly fries which shot this sucker to 5 shiny stars. All this for just over $9? Thank you for that. Saimin Not bad at all, and a good portion size to boot. The dark broth had that traditional saimin-flavor of pork and veggies and came loaded with way too much luncheon meat, sliced scrambled eggs and green onions. The noodles were thick and cooked nicely. My only complaint is that it was difficult to spoon the broth from the tall container. In addition to the usual snack items, I also was introduced to Chic Naturals, a local company selling chick peas in a variety of flavors. Maui Onion? Yes please! Tasty and healthy. SERVICE: For deli service, you order and pickup at the counter then pay at the front of the store. The male employee taking orders was friendly and repeated back orders to assure accuracy. The female cashier was friendly and quick. OVERALL: A one-stop-shop for odds and ends complete with a mouth-watering eatery.

The Maui Thai Bistro is a casual Thai bistro with a bar that serves up delicious dishes from both classic and contemporary Thai cuisine. The service is attentive and the food is tasty, well prepared and fresh. The restaurant is modest but clean, with staff that are kind and courteous throughout. They also take Covid seriously, requiring proof of vaccination before seating customers and approving their order before it can be served.
Amazing food and truly Hawaiian twist with macadamia nut in some of the curries - they have a separate Vegetarian menu which we appreciated. Highly recommend for vegans/vegetarians

Maui Thai Bistro is a decent spot for Thai food, but it didn’t stand out compared to other Thai restaurants I’ve been to. The flavors were good but pretty typical—nothing particularly unique or memorable. We went during rush hour, and the service was noticeably slow. It took a while to get our food, which was a bit frustrating. However, the staff was friendly, and the atmosphere was nice. Overall, it’s a solid choice if you’re craving Thai food in Maui, but don’t expect anything extraordinary.

Nestled within a modest strip mall in West Maui, Honokowai Okazuya & Deli is a delightful gem that offers an extensive array of Asian take-out dishes perfect for lunch or dinner. This cozy spot may be small, featuring just a few stools and outdoor tables, but it’s beloved by locals for its consistently delicious food.
This place is a hidden gem in every sense—blink and you might miss it tucked in a little strip mall across from the beach. But trust me, Honokowai Okazuya & Deli is the kind of spot you’ll end up coming back to… maybe more than once on your trip. (I sure did.) First time I went, I grabbed the chicken katsu, and it was exactly what I was hoping for—crispy, golden breading, juicy chicken inside, and a portion big enough to leave me full and still have leftovers for later. Classic plate lunch done right. But the real surprise? The loco moco. I wasn’t planning on it, but the smell coming from someone else’s takeout order convinced me. One bite in—fluffy rice, a tender beef patty, egg with a perfect runny yolk, and that rich brown gravy—and I knew I made the right call. It’s stick-to-your-ribs, nap-after kind of good. Everything here feels homemade, generous, and unpretentious. Prices are great, portions are huge, and the food just tastes like someone’s grandma made it with love (and a little attitude). Heads up: it’s cash only, and it’s takeout-style with just a few outdoor seats, but honestly? Grab your food and walk it down to the beach. That’s the move. Highly recommend. Just go hungry. 🤤

Consider this a hidden gem of Maui. Delicious food carry out style. A few tables outside if you can't wait to eat. I like the Ono sautée with tomatoes. They are always busy and that's because of the quality of the food. You'll see plenty of locals come and go. After years of visiting the island this is still my go to place to eat.

I got the blackened Ahi. I was expecting it to be cooked more but it was just seared and raw in the middle. It wasn’t really even warm. The flavor was really good though and the portion was a good size. The rice a veggies were good too. I came here after going to the fish store that was only a few doors down. This place was waaaay better. I was a little annoyed they discouraged taking credit card so I had to use my cash but she was still way nicer than the guy at the fish store. The prices were good so I will be going back! There was no where to sit so I had to get takeout.

Zippy's Kahului, located at 15 Hookele St, is the original spot of this iconic Hawaiian casual dining chain that dates back to 1966. Open 24/7, it's a go-to place for families with its kid-friendly menu and relaxed atmosphere. The restaurant offers a variety of comfort-food dishes such as stews, chili, burgers, local stews, sandwiches and breakfast items. Zippy's also provides dairy-free options and has an allergen chart available.
Our first stop right out of the airport... Such good comfort food. Tasty and Delicious! Mahalo for Rosemary for great service.

I had the chicken trio. I liked the variety. The mac salad was very good. My wife had the Korean chicken, which was the star of our meals. It was also part of the chicken trio. We also had the fried noodles, which was just fair. Service was great.

This place hands down was amazing. Food was smackin! Service was amazing; auntie made sure everyone got what they needed and checked on us often.
Joe T — Google review
Looking forward to a Hawaaiain based chain we were left disappointed with Zippy’s. Parking was easy as there’s a bunch of spots inside. We opted to order from the register and get our food to sit down. We ordered the ZipPac Deluxe and spaghetti with garlic bread. The ZipPac Deluxe was okay. The fried chicken was not good, very tough. The spam was good, it’s spam so. The fish filet was probably the best part of it to be honest, flaky and tasty. The teriyaki beef was also good. The spaghetti however was not good, it lacked any real flavor. We thought it would be similar to Jollibee spaghetti but it was a far worse version. The garlic bread also was just not good. Maybe it’s this location but by the end of the meal we just felt the whole thing was just meh…
Amber L — Google review
So sorry. Imma big time Zippy’s fan. For so long. But maybe I built it up too high in my head, or maybe this place just not good. But so average at best. Of source easy to find park. Right in front no problem. But the table service line too long so we go udda side to counter order. Very fast here! Pass by all the yummy baked items but didn’t buy. Zip pack deluxe cuz hungry! Fried chicken kind of dry and bland. Not expected. I think teriyaki beef or Kalbi, not sure. It’s ok but had a weird after taste. Dish cutlet good!! Spam always good!! Mac salad ok. Rice ok. Chili ok. Spaghetti plate bland again. Was’ going on?? And then it was freezing in the self seating area. I mean frozen time. Eh maybe bettuh next time. I no quit on Zippy’s!

Zippy's was a lot better than I expected! Living here for a few years I always wanted to try it out and I finally did. The food tasted good and was hot and made quickly but I got the Korean chicken and it was kind of dry so maybe it was sitting as a ready to order item. I would still eat here again because overall it was really good food

Maui is a beautiful destination with much to offer, but some experiences can be disappointing, especially when it comes to dining. For instance, there are reports of subpar food quality in certain establishments, with diners describing the taste as surprisingly unappetizing. Additionally, service can be a significant issue, with some servers appearing fatigued and uninterested in providing attentive care. It's not uncommon for customers to feel ignored, as their orders may not be taken correctly, and tables often go unchecked throughout the meal. Overall, while Maui has a lot of charm, it's important to choose dining options wisely to avoid a negative experience.

What can I say this place has never disappointed. Good food at a fair price . Today I had the sampler chillie spam beef and some fish over 3 scoops of rice . Made my day after a long flight .out of all the places in Maui different price point and flavor . If you ask me where I want to go it’s this place

Island Gourmet Markets at The Shops of Wailea is a high-end mall featuring luxury brands like Prada, Tiffany & Co., and Gucci. It also houses hidden gems such as Martin & MacArthur, offering koa bowls and keepsake boxes, and Mele Ukulele for handmade Hawaiian musical instruments. The mall hosts several good restaurants including Top Chef fan favorite Sheldon Simeon's Lineage and Island Gourmet Markets that offer affordable breakfast and lunch options.
If you’re looking for a well-stocked grocery store and gift shop in Wailea, Maui, Island Gourmet Markets is the perfect place to visit. This store has everything you could possibly need, whether you’re shopping for essentials, grabbing a quick bite, or picking up souvenirs for friends and family back home. Island Gourmet Markets offers a wide variety of items, from T-shirts, hats, and luggage to fresh groceries, snacks, and an impressive selection of sushi and sashimi to-go. It has all the convenience of an ABC Store, but with the added benefit of a full grocery store experience. One of the highlights of shopping here is the fresh fruit selection—bursting with vibrant colors of red, green, and yellow. The abundance of pineapples is particularly impressive, as you’ll see in my pictures. Beyond the selection, the store is clean, well-organized, and easy to navigate. If you’re staying in the Wailea area and need a quick grocery run or want to grab a delicious meal within walking distance of your hotel, Island Gourmet Markets is definitely worth a stop.

ABC Store's fancy schmancy location is at The Shops of Wailea at the north end. ATMOSPHERE: The store is clean and organized. It's like a supermarket and sundry store in one, selling all the usual groceries including snacks, drinks, clothing, beer, wines, and liquors. They also sport a fresh meat & seafood department with a butcher, fresh sushi that's made in-house, a coffee bar, and a small gelato bar. Of course my favorite is the deli that sells sandwiches, burgers, donburi bowls, and even local-style bento lunches. FOOD: Swiss Mushroom Burger IMO, the best version on the rock. Everything was moist and juicy; the bun, grilled onions & mushrooms, the patty... Melt in your mouth goodness. And mayo was already spread on the bun... Yes! Are they mind readers?? I asked for curly fries but ended up with thick-cut ones, which were still good. I asked for no veggies except for a pickle but received tomatoes and lettuce. It's a good sized burger for the price. Grab lots of napkins because you're gonna need them! Holla! Bowtie Chicken Caesar Pack These delicious little bundles of joy are stocked in the refrige below the deli counter. Bowtie pasta tossed with black olives, sliced chicken breast, and parmesan cheese in a creamy caesar dressing with a tease of shredded romaine on top. The perfect app and affordable. SERVICE: Everyone was friendly, helpful, greets and thanks you. The deli girls taking orders or cooks need to listen and read tickets better. The cashier was super smiley and welcoming. OVERALL: Really good burgers at great prices, excellent service.

Great place for local foods and snacks. However, the poke is very salty. The burger was very dry and kind of thrown together. The Dubai Chocolate Strawberry cup is indulgent (and pricey) - delicious!!
JB — Google review
My Uber driver recommended Island Gourmet Market if I was looking for some authentic poke, and to my surprise, this place has a little bit of everything. Is it a gift shop? A supermarket? A mini pharmacy? Yes, to all of the above! It’s truly an amazing one-stop shop. I picked up some souvenirs for my family and grabbed a few breakfast items to take back to my hotel. The market is incredibly clean, with plenty of staff on hand, and there’s just so much to look at and explore. It’s one of those places you could easily spend a lot of time in, enjoying all the different things they have to offer. Definitely worth a stop!

Located at the north end of The Shops of Wailea. Within walking distance of major resorts. Fully handicap accessible. Plenty of free parking in the lot. Friendly and helpful staff. Perfect place for local food, snacks, (adult) drinks, pharmacy and toiletry items, souvenirs. Great poke bowls, sushi rolls, sandwiches and local desserts. Usually the fresh food is discounted in the evenings. Large selection of alcoholic drinks, liquors and cocktails. Significant savings over the high prices resorts charge during your stay - especially for drinks and comfort food. Highly recommended!
Walter P — Google review
This is a review just for the deli section of the store. This is an evolved ABC store, and I wish all ABC stores had the hot food sections like this. The poke was priced decent and we got a poke bowl with an extra container of poke as well. There was a good amount of plate lunches to choose from, and we needed up going with the loco moco which was drenched with gravy. I was told by many others that the breakfast was the best but we didn’t have opportunity to try it out since it stops at 11am and we always came in the afternoon. Be careful when you come during lunch because it’s a crazy mess of a crowd and very overwhelming to someone who is there for the first time. Follow the crowds and the signs so you know where and how to order
William T — Google review
So many choices to make for lunches and dinners. The sandwiches are meaty and fresh. There's something here for anyone, and prices are reasonable.
Dennis S — Google review
The staff was fairly friendly for a grocery store/market! Love the combination of a food market and gift shop. Super excited about the hello kitty Hawaiian merchandise. The pineapple is amazing and is definitely a must purchase. Was a bit disappointed with my poke only because it was fairly small for the price. The fish was fresh and tasted amazing. If you are getting spicy poke just be prepared the sauce is extremely spicy, more so than I was expecting but that could just be my low spice tolerance! Overall delicious, especially for a grocery store.

Joey's Kitchen Napili is a popular and laid-back cafe that offers a variety of dishes, including poke, fish tacos, and seafood mains. Chef Joey Macadangdang has elevated the menu with his Filipino fusion cuisine, featuring island favorites like fresh fish and traditional Filipino dishes such as pancit, embutido, and lumpia. The restaurant is known for its Crispy Pata dish, which was even featured by Guy Fieri.
The staff was so friendly and attentive. We enjoyed the pulled pork sandwich and garlic chicken, as well as the POG drink. We are so glad we came across this hidden gem, and will definitely recommend!

We sat in the front window seat. You order upon entering. We asked for water and they brought a large glass bottle with a seal on top and two cold metal glasses. I liked the water and the glasses but my wife would have preferred ice. Seating wasn’t very comfortable and tables were family style and larger tables were meant to be shared. I had fish and chips. The fish was great. It was hot, very tender and juicy, and the batter was light and tasty. The fries were not to my liking, as they were the stringy hard ones, but I acknowledge others like that style. The service was good. The food was not quick, but reasonable for the high quality. I could see that the experience at the counter was very different and had a great deal of interaction with the staff and could see into the kitchen. I have had take out from here and it was very good.

This local spot is such a delight! Everything here tastes so fresh and full of life. The mahi mahi and salmon were bursting with flavor, carrying that special “taste of Maui” in every bite. What I especially love is the little surprise on the plate — rice and fish paired with a peanut butter sauce. It’s unexpected, but it works beautifully. If you’re someone who enjoys trying unique touches, this is pure happiness on a plate! 😋❤️ P.S. Today is the next day, and we enjoyed Kauai shrimp and Huli Huli chicken — it was absolutely scrumptious!

We returned to Joey’s kitchen a number of times, all the food was delicious and the service was always awesome. Garlic Chicken, braised beef ribs, Garlic Kauai shrimp, I don’t think there’s anything you can get that isn’t great! Can’t wait to go back!

Great food and friendly service, even close to closing! We arrived around 7:40 PM (they close at 8), and even though there were still quite a few people in line, the wait wasn’t bad at all. They ran out of the pork adobo by then. We ordered the pork lumpia, crispy Brussels sprouts, pork belly plate, Kalua pork and cabbage, and the garlic chicken plate. Pork lumpia: Super crispy and moist filling. Brussels sprouts: Crispy and topped with a creamy mayo-based sauce and Parmesan. Pork belly: Skin was nice and crispy, but the meat was a bit dry and could’ve used more seasoning. The vinegar sauce on the side helped. Kalua pork & cabbage: Well-seasoned, tender, and paired nicely with rice. Garlic chicken: Fried and topped with a sweet glaze—not what I expected, but it was still good. The meat was moist and flavorful. The food was good, nothing amaaazing about it though. Portions were generous. Would definitely come back to try more.

My Big Bowl ramen soup base doesn't have much pork bone favorite. Tasted more like salt with some seasoning. I should have asked for more bouncy ramen n mine was a bit too soft to my liking. The boiled egg was cooked completely. No running yolk, see pic. My wife has the cold noodle n it was fair as well. Considering this is Maui, I guess we shouldn't ask for authentic Japanese ramen.
Ho H — Google review
IMO, Ramen Ya has the best ramen of all the shops on Maui. They use yellow egg noodles in all of their ramen dishes that have great "egg-y" flavor. ATMOSPHERE: Located in Queen Kaahumanu Center near the women's Macy's, it's a small shop with low tops and counter seating. They're constantly busy so expect a line at peak times. MENU: Ramen, noodle & rice dishes. BYOB is okay. FOOD: Shoyu Ramen My favorite broth. Here, it's a garlicky and savory flavor, always served searing hot, topped with lots of chashu, bean sprouts and green onions. I usually have to swish in more shoyu to bring it up my liking. Vegetable Ramen Whenever I'm craving a lighter flavored broth, this is it. The flavor is light with notes of simmered celery and onions, topped with bean sprouts, white & green onions and Chinese cabbage. Black Garlic Ramen: The total opposite of what you'd get at most ramen shops, theirs is shoyu-based (yay for me) and still with intense garlic flavors from fried garlic chips. Tonkotsu Ramen: This is my least favorite broth but here, it's not heavy and thick, so I'll ordered it every now and then. Milky in color and slightly creamy, the savory notes overpower everything which is why I like it. They can't do gooey eggs so you'll receive it hard boiled, the dish's only flaw. Mapo Tofu Ramen: My spouse's go-to. Thick gravy replaces the broth with lots of tofu and ground pork. Fried Rice , Fried Noodles, Crispy Noodles: Really tasty, no matter which protein you choose. Gyoza Mainstream but good. DISHES TO AVOID: Tan Tan Ramen, Chuka Ramen. RESERVATIONS: None. SERVICE: I've been coming here for years and everyone is always welcoming and friendly. OVERALL: The best ramen you'll find on Maui.
Maui T — Google review
Ramen Ya is located inside a mall. I went there with a friend. The place was busy when I got there, but we still got seated right away. It's a small restaurant. Their menu contains pictures of each of the dishes which I really liked. My friend and I got their combo set A, which includes mini ramen, 4 piece gyoza, and one selection. The mini ramen that's included in this set is shoyu ramen, so if you want a different style ramen, then you have to pay a little extra (nothing crazy). For the selection item, you can pick one from the following: mini fried rice, chicken katsu curry, spam katsu curry, mochiko chicken, beef curry or gyoza curry. My friend got shoyu ramen and fried rice as part of his combination set A. I got tonkatsu ramen and chicken katsu curry as part of my combination set A. Our food came out really fast. Both the ramen were creamy, and even though it said mini ramen, it was a pretty decent size. Meat was tender and juicy. Chicken katsu was great. Rice was a bit undercooked, and gyoza was okay. Overall, it was a pretty good meal for the price we paid. Our server was very attentive. You pay at the counter instead of your table (after you are done eating), so that took 10 minutes because of the line of people and a big group ahead of us waiting to pay.
Ayush K — Google review
The portions are huge. The price is very reasonable and the taste is good. I especially liked the shrimp fried rice and the tan tan ramen. It's not the best food in the world, but I thought it worth it and worth 5 stars. I would come again. Maybe order one less dish than the number of people since the portions are so large. They don't have a restroom, so you do have to walk way into Macy's if you have to go to the restroom.
Ben P — Google review
(Reviewed as of: 12/15/2022) A very small unit within the mall. Ramen Ya gets packed very fast so please come early (no RSVP). You have have to share tables, but it makes the experience even more enjoyable. So many great and yummy items to try. -- Combo Meal (Udon, Fried Rice) -- Mochiko Chicken -- Gyoza -- Beef Curry -- Black Garlic Sesame Ramen The Combo Meal is probably the most sought item if you want to try as many different variety items between you and another person (highly recommend ordering a side of something else to share as well, ie. mochiko chicken). The soup is standard and broth is very deep with flavor. The fried rice is made to order (yes to MSG) but in all seriousness, super flavorful! Mochiko Chicken -- BEST karaage chicken on the island!! If you just want to order a side of something to snack on, This is it!! The best item of the night!!!! Gyoza -- Standard but very crispy, hot and juicy. Great to share as a side dish amongst the group. Beef Curry -- Thick curry, and lots of beef cubes. Beef is a bit dense and chewy, but the curry flavor helps you wanting more. Ramen -- The broth is so good, very hearty and full of flavor. On the cold wet evenings, this is a must!!! Did I mention you should order a side of the mochiko chicken as well if you go with any of these dishes?! Overall a great dining experience. You will have to wait if you dine in anytime after 6pm, so come with some patience as the wait is so worth it. Locals and Tourists -- This is a MUST stop location!!!

Excellent Chicken Fried Rice and Gyoza! The Gyoza was definitely hand made there. It was delicate and full of flavor. The Chicken Fried Rice had a great smoky flavor that was present but didn't take over the flavor of the whole dish. The prices are good and the portions were great. This will definitely be another regular weekly stop.

Tokyo Tei is a cozy, family-owned restaurant that has been serving authentic Japanese dishes made from scratch since 1934. Despite its unassuming location in an industrial area of Wailuku, Maui, it is a popular spot known for its famous shrimp tempura. The restaurant attracts a diverse crowd, from bankers to construction workers during lunch and multi-generational families celebrating special occasions during dinner.
Enjoyed an onolicious Birthday & Happy Boys day dinner with our Maui ohana! Teishoku B is our go to with the always perfectly delicious teriyaki steak, fresh ahi sashimi & shrimp/vegetable tempura. Our 2 ladies had the new Teishoku G tonight with ono teriyaki chicken, fresh ahi sashimi (that we get to eat because they don't 😋) & perfectly battered shrimp/vegetable tempura. The side of ahi tempura bites dipped in our teriyaki sauce was delectable & gyoza with another dipping sauce was so oishi. Our niece happily slurpped up her plain udon noodles. We all left with our opus gratefully stuffed! Mahalo to Glory & her awesome staff😁🍱🍤🍜🥟

Updating since different owners and we heard they were going to go back to original recipes. We did takeout and ordered the teri steak, teriyaki pork and carrot tempura which is sold by the piece. Plates came with a scoop of rice and miso soup. Flavor of food was good. Person who took our order and completed our transaction was very sweet and friendly. We went back again and ate inside. We had the nabeyaki udon and their pork tofu and both were so delicious! We will definitely go back there again!

Unfussy homely cooking. Sashimi was the highlight and I enjoyed the fish and steak. The tempura was good at first, but as the batter is a little thick, got heavy towards the end. Good value for money

Shawn M — Google review
Quality and quantity dropped quite a bit. My tonkatsu had about 8mm of pork but the cooked miso fish was thick and tasted frozen. Their famous haktaka chicken soaked for 2 days was sold out. Waitress says they only have enough for 3-4 orders. Breaks my heart as this was a regular haunt. Their prices are reasonable unlike other Hawaiian Japanese joints. Now I know why because they cut out the quality and quantity.
David H — Google review
The food here is tasty and worth every penny. Everything is prepared to perfection and served with eye appeal and exceptional taste to follow. If you are in the area, you owe yourself the treat of eating at Toyko Tei. Guaranteed winner 10/10!!
LaDell V — Google review
It's hidden on the lower floor of a strip mall/business center. They have lunch specials that gives you a good value for the amount of food you order. They are known for their tempura and it was crispy. However, the batter for the shrimp one was a little too thick. The veggies were crispy but some of them needs to be drained a little longer. The pieces of veg tempura was eating too greasy and oily. Kalbi was a little fatty and mushy rice. Miso soup was a nice start and seasoned well. Service was attentive and friendly.

When you catch the aroma of fresh ginger, steaming rice, and sizzling sesame oil, you'll be close to Ichiban Okazuya. Some people just love this place, but I haven't found my hit-the-spot dish yet. ATMOSPHERE: Hole-in-the-wall building in Wailuku. Difficult parking. Take out only. FOOD: Nabeyaki Udon Broth has a salty and slightly sweet taste. Comes topped with fresh mushrooms, green onions, kamaboko, chicken, broccoli, zucchini and 1 piece of shrimp tempura. It's good, but the one from Archie's is better (better taste and more veggies.) Chopped Steak Steak filets done with white & green onions and bean sprouts. Doesn't really taste like your typical local-style chopped steak, unfortunately, but more like a cross between chicken hekka & nishime. Chicken Katsu IMO, it's hard to screw up chicken katsu unless you overcook it. Here, their katsu is good. Tender, tasty and a breading that's not too oily, with a perfect portion size. I'm not a fan of their house made katsu sauce, which is a little sweet and tart, like how most eateries are. Luckily I always have a bottle of Kagome-brand sauce at home. There are different side dishes I could've chosen from, but I'm not sure what they were as I wanted to try their mac salad. The macaroni salad also includes potatoes, diced raw onions, carrots, celery, and relish. Didn't care for it. It was too sweet (possibly Miracle Whip) and crunchy. Just mix in some mayo and salt, and I'll be ecstatic. The plate comes with a big scoop of rice (your choice of white or hapa which is a mix of brown & white,) and a tiny pinch of tasty pickled cabbage. Opakapaka The skin-on filet was on the smallish side, flattop grilled, very lightly seasoned, topped with grilled white onions and a few fresh mushrooms, and came with tartar sauce for dipping. The tartar sauce easily overpowered the delicate fish and killed it. I think seasonings of salt, shoyu, or even teriyaki would be more appropriate to keep with the Japanese theme. A scoop of rice and steamed veggies of broccoli, cauliflower, carrots, and pickled cabbage were the sides. Teriyaki Chicken So disappointed in this dish! The skin-on, boneless slices of chicken were under seasoned and dry. Talk about a weak teri sauce, but the dryness is unforgivable. Come on guys!? Sides were a scoop of rice, pickled cabbage, and their infamously gross Miracle Whip-based potato macaroni salad that is just too sweet. Chow Fun Their porkless concoction lacked any sort of flavor and tasted similar to chow mein at your local Panda Express. The beige noodles were a bit underdone, and stir fried with julienned carrots, green onions, and cabbage. SERVICE: Fast & friendly.

Very surprised with the food. I ordered the pork katsu and tempura combo with Chowfun. The katsu was crunchy, tender and very flavorful. Unfortunately my tempura was a little under cooked. It came out soggy. It needed about 1 more minute in the fryer. The very surprising thing was the side of chowfun. I thought as a side, it would be bland and just a filler but it was very good. I could of just ate the chowfun as the main, that's how good I thought it was.

To go only - during the weekdays. But it’s worth a visit if you are nearby. True gem for locals. The chicken katsu and tempora set were so good.

We went to try the much-praised chicken katsu and were not disappointed. The kimchi side was also excellent. Eat here. Do it!

Amazing take out style restaurant run by a local family. Great service, super friendly. Food was exceptional! We got the curry udon, house special with Korean chicken and teriyaki pork, and vegetable tempera. Unfortunately, they were out of noodle side dishes when we went, but that was an hour before closing time. Everything tasted fresh and flavored perfectly. Such a convenient option for a bite to eat! Parking available by the shop.
Rachel — Google review
Take out only! I got their tempura udon. The udon taste like it's homemade. It feels nice when you bite into it if you know what I mean lol. The broth is flavorful. The tempura would be better and more crispy if it wasn't sitting closed in the take out box. I still like Marugame Udon more in Honolulu. Other than that it's good to try.

Breakfast restaurant
Da Kitchen, located in Kihei and Kahului, is a popular restaurant on Maui known for its generous portions of classic Hawaiian food. Despite its suburban strip-mall location, it attracts both locals and tourists with its island soul food, including signature dishes like chicken katsu and teriyaki beef. The airport location offers a wider selection, featuring traditional plate-lunch-style fare as well as burgers and sandwiches.
One of the best places to eat in Maui. We came in a Tuesday for lunch and the inside was packed so we ordered to-go and ate outside. Every single bite of every item on our plate was perfection. The Musubi was heavy on the nori flavor, which I love, but my husband doesn’t so I mostly got to have that all to myself. The meats were tender, flavorful, and cooked perfectly. Many weeks later and we’re still talking about how this is one of the best meals we ate. On our Maui go-to list now forever! Oh, and the staff were all so freaking nice!!
Chelsea W — Google review
The food was good but not great. Deep fried spam musubi had a thin sliver of spam and the rest was rice. $31 for garlic noodles with 1 piece of chicken (picture below), way overpriced for the amount of chicken you get. We waited an hour to order and get our food.
Jennifer T — Google review
I came here based on the reviews. While you do get a lot of food for your money, I’m not sure I’m convinced that it was as great as some of these reviews. We ordered the mixed plate and the loco moco. Both were ok. The mixed plate came with katsu chicken and mahi as well as a piece of chicken thigh and a piece of sliced beef plus rice and mac salad. The loco moco came with a burger patty, egg, topped with sautéed onions, rice and mac and cheese. It’s a very heavy meal. The dishes didn’t have a lot of flavor. Our server was nice and friendly.
Geeky C — Google review
Loco Moco was good but not great. Standouts were the fried spam musubi and the guava cheesecake (a must-order. Not overly sweet). Prices for portion size were good. My husband and I split the Loco Moco and had leftovers.

Epic Hawaiian Plate Lunch at Da Kitchen — massive portions, bold flavors, zero regrets! Summary of Experience: My partner and I dropped in at Da Kitchen in Kihei for lunch, craving something local and hearty. We each went for combo/mixed-plate style – I ordered the Chicken Katsu + Kalua Pork combo; my partner got the Mixed Plate (teriyaki chicken, teriyaki beef, chicken katsu, breaded mahi mahi). The restaurant was clean, service friendly, atmosphere relaxed. The food: generous (seriously), full of flavor, a great sampler of Hawaiian classics all in one meal. Overall Opinion & Recommendation: If you’re anywhere near Kihei and want to dive into Hawaiian comfort food, Da Kitchen is absolutely worth your lunch hour (or dinner, for that matter). The food hits the sweet spot between comforting and exciting. The katsu was crispy in all the right ways, the kalua pork tender, smoky, perfect balance of salt without being overwhelming. The mixed plate — you get a little something from each favorite: mahi-mahi brought crisp fish flavor, the teriyaki meats offered sweet/umami uplift, and the chicken katsu brought that crunchy texture. Add rice, macaroni salad etc., and you’ve got a feast. Portions are huge — you might end up taking home leftovers. The vibe: casual Hawaiian plate lunch, no pretenses, just solid local eats. Clean space, good service makes it even better. Recommendation: Highly recommend. Go if you want to try multiple Hawaiian classics in one go, especially if you’re hungry. It’s ideal for sharing, sampling, or just if you want something filling and tasty without fancy fuss. If I come back, I’ll continue trying more combos/mixed plates—this is the kind of spot you visit not just once, but multiple times.

Island salad is my run away favorite here. It’s been a while since I was in Hawaii and had plate lunch. So long ago that prices have ga-gillioned? $35 for the Hawaiian? Sheesh. Used to be plate lunch was the affordable way to eat. Food was good though. Lau lau was good. Kilua pork was salty but delicious. Rice was rice. And a very little itty bitty salmon teaser. Won’t be back but happy we went. Can’t recommend at these prices.

Garlic Noodles were good. Chicken katsu lacked flavor, Kalbi ribs, korean chicken were mediocre and and the fried musubi was strangely sweet? Mac salad always good. Very busy establishment and the servers worked well.

Japanese restaurant
Restaurant
Restaurant Matsu is a cozy and unassuming Japanese eatery known for its delicious and affordable family-style dishes. Despite its small size and location in an industrial area, it offers a delightful surprise with its classic Japanese culinary offerings such as tempura, fried noodles, tofu, katsu, and nigiri. The restaurant's combo plates are particularly popular for their quality-to-price ratio. While the exterior may seem unremarkable, the interior exudes warmth with its wood decor and cozy seating.
We stopped for lunch on our way to the airport on our last day. It's a cozy place with good food and speedy service. We had miso cod fish and unagi donburi -- both were excellent. Wed definitely come here for lunch again the next time we're in Maui.
Naba B — Google review
Very yummy!! They really took care of us for our gluten allergy. They were very sweet. Family friendly and close to the carnival cruise port.
Juliana A — Google review
I've been coming to Matsu's ever since they were located in the Maui Mall (where Thailand Cuisine is now.) I'm sure they're happier in their new digs as they don't have to follow mall hours & rules and probably have cheaper rent. ATMOSPHERE: Divey, dinky little wooden building in Kahului Industrial Park. Signs abound for every pet peeve of theirs. It's a self-service restaurant, so order at the counter, have a seat, and the food is delivered. The customary request is to take all your items to a cart near the counter when you're done, like a cafeteria. The only thing I don't care for is that they use a lot of styrofoam and disposal plastic products for dine-in service. Such a waste! MENU: Ramen, udon, soba, don bowls, sushi, local plate lunches. FOOD: Shoyu Ramen This is what started me on my ramen rage, circa 1990. It was my very first shoyu ramen experience. The broth is a traditional dark shoyu, with a hint of ginger. The noodles are thin and chewy with an eggy-flavor that I love. Toppings are fishcake, green onions, and a razor thin slice of charsiu. Honestly, the best-tasting shoyu broth on Maui, but it's just a tiny bit too small in portion size for me. It could also use more topping options like a soft egg and bean sprouts. Tempura Ramen This is my favorite dish here. It's served with the shoyu broth which is dark and savory, with thin noodles that are always cooked perfect. It comes topped with green onions and fish cake. The fresh tempura consists of two shrimp, green beans, sweet potato and eggplant. My only gripes are that the portion size of the ramen is a bit below average, they don't give enough broth as you are constantly trying to ration it while eating, and it doesn't come with any charsiu. The tempura makes up for the small amount of ramen. That shiny 5th star is close but oh so far. Miso Ramen I tried this on a whim, being that my ramen palette has expanded to more than just shoyu, especially when dining off of the rock. I've had a tasteless version at Ramen Ya, but this one has a very good & strong miso flavor, and perfectly cooked noodles. I didn't care for the generous amount of sliced white onions that are apparently part of the broth. Other odd toppings were carrots and won bok, but unfortunately no bean sprouts. There was a half boiled egg which wasn't fresh as the yolk had the gray ring on the outside. I don't think any Maui establishment knows how to make that to-die-for soft egg. If you've found one, please let me know! Overall, I love miso soup and miso butterfish, but miso ramen is just not a favorite of mine. California Roll Nobody comes close to a flavorful Cali roll like these folks. The vinegary rice, fresh avocado, cucumber and mayo mixture just melts in your mouth. Another plus is that you can buy these in as little as 3 pieces to accompany your lunch. Spicy Ahi The 6 small pieces were very fresh, but I didn't care for the spicy sauce as I could taste Tabasco in it, rather than being a creamy sriracha. I'd rate it a 2 on a 5 heat scale. Priced nicely at $4.50. RESERVATIONS: Not taken. The busiest times are weekday lunch hour. They probably do equal amounts of dine-in and takeout. SERVICE: Staff are friendly and food service is quick. TIPS: Plate lunch portion sizes are on the small side. Call ahead for takeout as they can get pretty busy at lunch with all the other businesses nearby. FACT: They used to own the now defunct Izakaya Matsu in Azeka SC (Kihei). OVERALL: The best tasting and most traditional shoyu ramen on Maui.

Restaurant Matsu is a true hidden gem and now officially one of my favorite spots on Maui! It came highly recommended by locals and now I see why. As a big fan of udon soup, I had to try theirs with the tempura vegetables, and it did not disappoint. The broth was flavorful and comforting, and the tempura was perfectly crispy. I also grabbed a spamasubi (because, of course!), and it hit all the right notes; simple, satisfying, and packed with local flavor. The menu is full of tempting options, so it’s definitely a place I’ll be revisiting to try more. The service was friendly and efficient, which made the whole experience even better. If you’re in Maui and looking for something casual, delicious, and local-approved, Restaurant Matsu is the place to go. Highly recommend!

My wife and I went here during our honeymoon and it was fantastic! The food was cooked really well and to our specifications. The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming and the atmosphere was relaxed and inviting. The menu was diverse and reasonably priced as well! Would not hesitate to come here again!!!

This place falls far short of a restaurant. I drank water from cracked plastic cups, ate from chipped plate, the forks so old and had a lot of scratches. We are ordered bento box and it’s not worth the money (36$) Food is not yummy. We were hungry, but we didn't eat with appetite. I don’t understand why there is so high rating. The shrimp are not good, the rice in Taki maki sushi is undercooked and dry. Ahi tuna is not bad and California roll was delicious. Customer service was not great too. We had a company of 8 people, but the waiter refused to let us join the tables together. After several unsuccessful attempts, they grudgingly allowed it.
Olga S — Google review
Family of 10 enjoyed a delicious lunch for under $200 including tip. Everyone is so nice and always smiling. This includes staff and customers. If you come with a large group get there before noon because the place gets busy and tables fill quickly after noon.

Oao - Sushi Bar & Grill at Wailea is a new favorite sushi spot on Maui, offering delicious cuisine and excellent service. The Master Chef and staff provide an authentic experience with their hospitable and attentive nature. The menu features awesome dishes like Hamachi Kama, Fresh Oysters served on the shell, and the specialty surf & turf roll with superb wagyu. The atmosphere is fantastic, making it a great place for both a quick bite alone or dinner with friends.
Excellent quality sushi in the Wailea area, close by several hotels. Everything we ordered was great but surprisingly the salmon sashimi was a total standout. The servers and our bartender were very friendly and attentive - would recommend this place to anyone staying in the area.

Stopped by on a Saturday evening around 8pm and was able to be seated upon arrival for our party of four. Overall, food and service is very good for this pricey Japanese style restaurant. The teriyaki chicken skewer was good but nothing special. The Oao baked California roll was filling and delicious. The Cilantro Lime salad was fresh and tasty. The spicy Japanese edamame was delicious and spicy but unfortunately were not shelled. The rock shrimp tempura was not very filling but was tasty.
S B — Google review
My husband and I came to Oao last week while in Maui for our honeymoon. This place was amazing! We sat at the bar and the staff was really friendly and food came out quickly. The sushi here was so fresh. We went to a LOT of poke and sushi places while in Hawaii, and the fatty tuna maki roll (the exact name of the roll is escaping me) was one of the best things I’ve ever tasted in my life! We also really loved the spicy tuna/crispy rice cakes. So delicious!
Kelsey P — Google review
I admit I was skeptical after finding very little quality at the right price on Maui. I am picky when it comes to my food. In Hawaii we have a lot of high price for the sake of tourism and location rather than quality. On top of that Maui is impacted by this more than other islands. Oao is not one of these places. The food and service were spectacular. We love sushi and Japanese food and eat it more than any other culture of food. The Service: server Ronson C 5 stars! I don’t usual comment on the service specifically but our server Ronson C was a true delight and elevated the dinning experience. He was talking story and made great recommendations. Not pushy like some can be. He was very attentive and efficient. He had great energy not only with our table but everyone he interacted with. I am very pleased I followed all of his recommendations. The Food: We usually go for appetizers and nigiri this time was no different. The chefs special menu featuring special imports for Japan were amazing. The Akamai, Chutoro, and Otoro were all exceptional . Hamachi and unagi were delicious. The Hotake, Ika, and Uni were amazing . The crispy rice which they labeled rice cake was like the best poke bomb. Elevated with the texture of the crispy rice instead of inari. Everything beat expectations. The tempura vegetables were light and perfectly fried. Everything we had was familiar and comfortable yet elevated to something special. The Carpaccio was so simple but so delicious. Everything was full of flavor. I love natto and upon Ronsons recommendation I added shiso leaf (common) and spring onion (first time for me) and it was the best natto roll I have had. I ordered a second for dessert. I was truly taken away at how such simple items so familiar were executed so exquisitely. I was not missing Japan, this place brought me back. A must visit if you are craving sushi on Maui! 5 Not to mention they have quite the drink menu.

We stopped here for some warm miso soup and sushi rolls. Everything we ordered was tasty. A nice little sushi restaurant in the Wailea area of Maui.
Bay R — Google review
This is THE BEST sushi on island. It’s pricier but that’s just the price of wailea. It is worth it. All of the food is consistently amazing, they do such a good job with their crudo and specialty dishes. I love their green tea, everything is very nice and well presented- even down to the tea kettle dishes. This place checks all the boxes for ambiance, vibe, music, decorum, and cleanliness. The owner is a super cool chef too! The whole sushi chef team is friendly and talented, and the staff is overall very nice. Only thing that’s just okay is the cocktails, but I’m sure over time their selection and specialities will adapt and improve. If you’re a tourist, you found a local gem, and if you’re local, I hope you enjoy this spot as much as I do. :)

Went around 1 pm for Happy Hour. Delicious drinks. Fresh sushi and plated aesthetically. Price point was excellent. Waiter was personable and even gave insight to excursions. A must try if you’re near Wailea.
Peyton L — Google review
Service was good. The staff were very nice. Food tasted decent. But the portion size to cost ratio is not good. I expected food to be more expensive in Hawaii and it was, but the portion size is very small. The cost to portion ratio is not what I’m used to coming from LA. For example the rainbow row in the picture was almost $50. We didn’t leave feeling very satisfied.

Takeout Restaurant
Organic restaurant
Choice Health Bar Paia is an acclaimed health food restaurant and juice bar situated in the heart of Paia town. The establishment offers a variety of options for those seeking a healthy lifestyle, including fresh juices, smoothies, acai bowls, kale salads, and snacks.
Clean, healthy food tucked into this little surf town like it belongs—sincere, sun-drenched, maybe a bit smug, but it earns it. You walk in and you're greeted by the kind of people who actually enjoy kale. Everything here is raw, organic, alive—but in that good way, not the expensive LA nonsense way. It’s not cheap—don’t fool yourself—but compared to what the resorts charge for a sad banana and watery green juice, it’s a steal. Load up: smoothies, bowls, juices, grab everything that catches your eye, then toss it all in the mini fridge back at your hotel. Suddenly you’ve got breakfast and lunch sorted for days, and your gut will thank you. If you’re trying to do Maui on a ramen-noodle budget, this place might hurt. But if you want real food that actually makes you feel good—and you’re okay spending a little more than the grocery store—this is where you go.
Winston C — Google review
I was so delighted when I spotted a café sign promoting a healthy lifestyle — of course I had to step inside. I ordered my favorite dish: açaí with liliko‘i (passion fruit). First of all, the portion of açaí was literally tiny. And the liliko‘i? Not a single piece in sight. As a vegetarian with a very fine-tuned sense of taste, I noticed right away. The staff tried to explain that the fruit was “hidden” somewhere in the branded açaí mix 🙂 — but let’s be honest, such excuses don’t work on seasoned California tourists who’ve been to Hawaii more than once. The granola portion, on the other hand, was enormous — probably a horse would’ve been thrilled about it. In short, if you go to Island Vintage Coffee at Whalers Village and try their açaí liliko’i moana bowl, you’ll understand exactly what I mean. 🌺

Restaurant
Tajima Ramen Maui is a new addition to Kihei, located conveniently next to Coldwell Banker Island Properties in Kukui Mall. This renowned ramen restaurant group from San Diego promises an unforgettable dining experience with its delicious flavors. Visitors can enjoy the fatty and oily tonkotsu broth with Black Garlic Oil, along with excellent Chashu and in-house made noodles. The restaurant also offers refreshing matcha drinks and gyoza at a good price.
Tajima Ramen Maui is a must-visit! My wife and I started with the gyoza, which were perfectly crisp and flavorful. They were a great way to kick off the meal. For our main dish, we both ordered the Tajima Red Ramen, and it did not disappoint. The broth had just the right amount of spice, rich and well-balanced. I added a noodle refill because I couldn’t get enough. Honestly, this was the best ramen I’ve had outside of Japan. The staff was friendly, attentive, and made us feel welcome. The atmosphere was also fantastic with great music that added to the experience without being too loud. If you're in Maui and craving authentic, flavorful ramen, Tajima should be at the top of your list.
Jesse B — Google review
I’ve been here twice already. Their ramen is bomb. Their other items are just okay. I had their white ramen and black ramen. Both were good, but I think the white ramen is better. I also had their edamame, vegetarian gyoza, chicken fried rice, and pork fried rice. And all of these were okay. If these were better, I would’ve given the restaurant five stars. The atmosphere also has a touch of coolness to it. The restaurant is decorated with anime figures at the front, and cartoons and sports are playing on TVs at the front as well. Alongside the rest of the restaurant design, overall, it gives off a cool vibe.
Amir L — Google review
Tajima Ramen totally hit the spot. The gyoza was crispy and delicious, and both the black ramen and white ramen were amazing—super flavorful and comforting. The place is clean, cold and there’s tons of parking which is always a win. The staff were super friendly and helpful with all our questions. Definitely coming back!

The food here was so delicious that as I write this review, I am already planning my next visit. The noodles are delicious & so is the sushi. I recommend the vegetarian ramen, Philly roll, & garlic fried noodles.

Never see any ramen that sticks together as a chunk. You could’ve stir it when boiling the ramen. Simple as that Broth is ok Probably instant ones are better if they don’t stir the ramen and let them stick together The only up side is they are open are 8
Hayden X — Google review
Delicious ramen and some vegan options, too! This place came recommended on some Reddit chats and based on the good reviews I decided to give it a try. I was happy to see a variety of options on the menu, including a vegan option. The prices are also incredibly reasonable given how much food they give you. My partner and I both left stuffed and we each only had our meals, no apps or sushi rolls. Service/atmosphere: The moment you walk through the door you’re greeted by every staff member in the front of the restaurant. Makes you immediately feel welcomed. The second thing I noticed was the smell. The broth from the ramen perfumes the entire dining room. It smells rich, warm, and complex. They say we eat with our sense and I found this to be particularly true - based on the smell alone I couldn’t wait to grab my seat at the bar and submit my order. Cleanliness: The entire restaurant was very clean, which is a feat given how packed and busy the place was. Food: The ramen was a treat from beginning to end. The broth is fragrant, rich with umami, and seasoned well. The noodles have a great texture and filled with a subtle wheat flavor. The corn adds sweetness, the mushrooms give texture and a grounding earthiness, and the pork was tender and rich. The fried garlic was more like garlic chips. They added a lot of texture to the meal and a slightly bitter taste. I found the entire meal to be balanced, filling, and enjoyable. At the end of my meal I was so full, even though I wanted to order more to try additional items, I couldn’t order more. I ended up having the yuzu sorbet. It was truly the perfect ending to the meal. The brightness of the citrus cleansed the palate and was super light. Overall: I’d definitely go back to Tajima and am excited to think about what else I’d order. If you’re a local or just passing through on vacation I’d give this place a try!

The sushi was good and enjoyed the shrimp tempura, veggie gyoza, and cream cheese wontons. The fried rice was alright, had chunks of rice that weren’t mixed well and our shrimp fried rice had about 5 pieces of shrimp. Was a nice area to go for dinner since it wasn’t loud and we didn’t have to wait long. Would like to try the ramen, regret not getting any. Have a good amount of vegetarian options too between the ramen, sushi, and appetizers.

Kaohu Store is a delightful mom and pop shop that offers daily plate lunch specials, starting early in the day. The establishment boasts exceptional poke dishes, with unreal fresh fish of high quality. Once you try their poke, you won't find any other place that compares. They also serve delicious spam musubi. The workers, owners, and family members are all kind and modest individuals.
The absolute best (+) fresh poke on the island. If you are poke connoisseur don't skip this quaint neighborhood store, be sure to call for hours .... family run hours are limited. Recommend hamachi it's my new addiction, hot dogs are pretty good too.

Excellent poke. We loved the salmon, ninja and all versions of ahi. Just load up a lb of each and grab some chips. We went with 1/2 lbs of each to taste but only ended up wanting more!

Very fresh and tasty poke. Friendly employees good drink and snack options too.
Alissa O — Google review
The old Kaohu Store has evolved. A few years ago, they reopened under a new name, Wailuku Market, along with new owners and a secret weapon in its arsenal, a fresh pokē bar. THE best pokē on Maui, per me. And per the staff, they only use fresh fish, never frozen. My taste buds agree on fresh vs. frozen. Around 2017/2018, the Wailuku Market name slowly faded and the familiar name has reemerged. They've also added more food and beverage options with daily plate lunches and convenience store selections. POKĒ: Salt Ahi Pokē Seasoned with salt and mixed with white & green onions. Delicious. The salt flavor is perfect. Not usually a fan of this plain preparation but damn, I'm a fan! Shoyu Ahi Pokē Normally my ultimate favorite preparation. Seasoned with shoyu, and mixed with the same white & green onions. Super delicious. Spicy Ahi Pokē Holy yum. The king of the three I've tried. Seasoned with I believe sriracha & mayo and mixed with tobiko. The perfect amount of spice and salt. BROKE DA MOUTH!!!! OMG so perfect with beer. Even better than the versions at Oki's in Foodland Kahului and Takamiya Market in Wailuku. Any spicy pokē makes the best-tasting fried pokē, IMO. Aku Pokē Similar in flavor to the salt pokē but made from aku rather than ahi, comes mixed with super finely-shaved kukui nuts, white & green onions. FOOD: Spam Musubi Of the many joints that serve this on the rock, this one was utterly delish! The Spam is cooked in a shoyu-sugar sauce which makes a huge difference in flavor, though I still like plain versions too. The rice was perfectly cooked with the sauce bleeding into it and spreading the love. The nori encased the entire musubi rather than being just a thin belt in the middle like how some places do, making for a clean eating experience. Highly recommended! Portuguese Sausage, Spam, Eggs & Rice The scrambled eggs tasted like they added in some kind of liquid to thin or stretch it out, resulting in a crumbly texture. The single slice of Spam, while thickly cut, was so lightly fried that it didn't bring out the true wondrous flavors that we Hawaiians crave, and tasted like it came straight out of the can. The 2 sausage slices were the best part of the bento. Acceptable but I can do better! SERVICE: Always friendly and professional. TIP: The pokē isn't ready until "lunch time" and sells out quick, so call ahead. OVERALL: The mom and pop shop lives on!

Wonderful locally owned business. Amazing poke and mixed plate selections made fresh daily. Bring cash.

I love this place and stop by when ever I can, and have for years, for their wonderful deli food. A nice, small market. The only drawback is a rude, unhelpful employee, someone named Sean. Ruins the vibe of the place.

Shopping mall
Restaurant
Queen Ka'ahumanu Center is a spacious indoor-outdoor shopping mall with a tropical atmosphere, housing over 100 stores and dining options. It features well-known mainland retailers like Macy's and Sears alongside smaller shops and shoe stores. Visitors can also explore the Maui Friends of the Library Bookstore, offering books on Hawaiian culture as well as popular bestsellers at affordable prices.
Open air mall with many shops to choose from. Macys is the main department store, but it has many local based shops as well. A lot of the national shops you’d expect like Zumiez and Hot Topic. There’s a family fun center on the second floor with lots of fun games for children and adults alike. Nice place to visit is the cat cafe where you can play with adorable cats.

Nice and airy mall with typical stores such as Macys, American Eagle, Body and Bath. Lot of empty spaces. Some fast food chains such as Panda Express and LOL Hawaiian. And a couple of restaurants
An P — Google review
It is an ok mall to spend some time. It's is a little run-down with some stores closed and a little dirty. But the atmosphere is nice with native music. The bathroom was filled with cockroaches. I'm not sure if that is a normal state or if they held an annual meeting at that time. Wasn't a big deal for me, almost like visiting the zoo. There were many good stores with good variety. The food court is good.
Ilya — Google review
The open-air QKC is Maui's largest mall with a capacity for about 100 tenants, but I'd guesstimate the list is maybe 50 and hanging on by a thread? It opened in the 1970's and was heavily renovated in the 1990's with the addition of a partial second level, 8-stall food court, 2 parking garages, and a new wing that brought in the area's first multiplex movie theater, and Maui's only JC Penney (though they're long gone now, and the reason why there's two separate Macy's stores.) The 2000's brought only cosmetic upgrades. TODAY: There has been no renovation to the storefronts which look dated and tired, but the mall's canopy roof supports got a fresh coat of paint that actually went the opposite direction of pleasing. They pulled out all of the palm trees and planters and filled them in with ugly gray concrete that doesn't match the mall's interlocking, multi-colored cement block floor. Public areas have new furniture and convenient device charging stations but it also invited homeless campers to loiter and cause trouble. Thankfully the Maui Bus vacated the mall as a main hub, which helped dissipate the questionable clientele. The mall is sad and lacks variety. Old stores seem to move into vacated spaces in order to avoid renovating the store front, which gives the mall a dilapidated look. SECURITY ISSUES: If you need to use the restroom, do not utilize the ones upstairs by the food court or men's Macy's as they've both been associated with a multitude of assaults. Use the restrooms in the businesses if possible. A few years ago, a person was held at gun point and robbed in the parking garage. And, someone's Honda Accord in the parking garage was jacked up and one tire stolen in broad daylight. There is a lack of security cameras in the entire facility, so be wary of your surroundings. BUSINESS HIGHLIGHTS: American Eagle Bath & Body Works Farmer's Market Foodland Macy's Panda Express Victoria's Secret/Pink FOOD COURT: The Queen's Market is an 8-stall food court located at the front of of the mall on the second level, but they're currenlty only half occupied. There are a few outdoor tables and a handful of indoor seats. Views are of the main entry and Kaahumanu Avenue. Its pretty clean overall with no bird problems. Restrooms are nearby. OVERALL: Some may say that Maui doesn't have the population to support restaurants and shops, but I think it's the mall that deprives us by not bringing in the fun and trendy businesses. Think, QKC marketing!? What can't you get on Maui that you have to fly to Oahu and beyond for? Chinese & Japanese cuisine, American chain restaurants, trendy eateries, a wider selection of clothing and accessories, and entertainment like IMAX movie screens and bowling. I won't even compare this place to Ala Moana as they're like night and day, but Ka Makana Alii, west Oahu's newest mall, has the most diverse list of tenants for a medium-scale neighborhood mall. That's what you call genius marketing. Shape up or ship out, QKC! There is talk about converting the mall to a mixed use residential/business complex.

Fancy stores up top bring a big wallet downstairs or some more of your local places and a lot of hand carved wood stuff and my favorite was the ice cream place. Can’t remember the name of it but I went there at least three times during my vacation definitely cool spot to chill and flip-flops in Hawaiian shirt and maybe you can splurge a little bit
Mattress A — Google review
That mall works perfectly for me. Free parking lot with security company tha watches my vehicle. It’s an open mall so it’s breezy too. Food all over. People are OKAY. Bathroom quiet clean. Coffee shops and entertainment around. Enough natural lights. Great ice cream shops. Clothing shops, plenty.

Nice place with few stores but a good produce market three times a week. The best: MOMONA factory where you can buy the best viennoiserie in town ! Fresh made👌
Marcela Z — Google review
Lively place, good selection of stores and a nice Macy’s department store. Food court has a good selection of food. The movie theater and arcade is a nice throwback to when malls were malls. Today was their 50th anniversary celebration, it was nice seeing the place festive with people. Sadly the Sears closed down, and long ago there use to be a Japanese grocery store here. Hopefully they will fill some of the empty spaces, because this is a great mall.

Fast food restaurant
Ba-Le Sandwich Shop is a popular spot with 12 locations across Hawaii, including one in Maui. The menu offers a variety of Vietnamese, Thai, Chinese, and local-style dishes. Visitors can enjoy a wide selection of noodles, rice plates, and sandwiches. The restaurant is known for its generous portions and has plenty of vegetarian and vegan options available. Customers appreciate the friendly service and quick delivery options.
Good food, great price, huge portions, lots of vegetarian and vegan options. The person taking orders was so very nice! So genuine and friendly, it made my day better! (Receipt said name was Prinsess) Ordered some of my favorites, green papaya salad with avocado and tofu vegetable crispy fried egg noodles, it was really good as always! They are really fast, delivery available, take out, or there are some outside tables.

Quaint little Vietnamese food shop where locals like to dine. You order at the window and dine on the outdoor tables and feel the gentle Maui winds. Pho was pretty decent. I prefer banh mi that has a nice crust, but mine was chewy. We’ll check it out again if we want a break from the higher end resort restaurants.

I'm glad Bale is here and giving the people a choice for dinner in the ghost town which is Wailuku. ATMOSPHERE: A former Dairy Queen building, they're mainly a takeout spot but do have covered outdoor seating. FOOD: BBQ Chicken My favorite dish here. The chicken is super tender & flavorful. The potato mac salad is good but is sometimes on the bland side, sometimes on the tart side. It comes with a small green salad with a weak dressing and delicious Jasmine rice. Crispy Fried Egg Noodles Another fave dish. Deep fried egg noodles with a pourable brown gravy consisting of shrimp, calamari, onions, won bok, carrots, and chicken. It's a huge portion. Goes great with a side of Jasmine rice. Garlic Shrimp Lots of flavor but can be a little over-powered by obscene amounts of garlic. Comes with rice noodles that line the bottom of the plate but has no flavor to it - Bleh! I say axe the noodles and add fried rice instead. Bale Combo BBQ chicken, pork chop and short ribs all in one. They sure know how to BBQ perfectly. Everything was tender and full of flavor. Soft Fried Egg Noodles This is the same dish as the crispy fried egg noodles but they use a boiled noodles (not fried as stated) instead of the good 'ol crispy stuff. Maybe I went on an off day but the flavor was pretty bland. Won't order this one again. Fried Won Ton They're not just won ton chips but are stuffed with seasoned ground pork and deep fried. It tastes exactly like a deep fried local-style pork hash. Delish! Sautéed Ginger Chicken Thanks to a fellow reviewer who posted a pic, this has become my new fave dish here (over their boneless chicken). The chicken was tender and full of savory, gingery flavor and julienned for easy devouring. Bale usually serves jasmine rice but for some reason I got regular white rice. The side of romaine was generous and came with a vinegar-based dressing, but unfortunately some of the lettuce were old, soggy and black. Tip: sub the greens for their potato salad. Pho I always opt for chicken. The broth was a nice balance of savory and sweet. Freshly shredded chicken was plentiful and came with a side of bean sprouts, white onions and fresh mint. Recommended. Special Saimin Any saimin lover will enjoy this hearty bowl of wavy eggy noodles, savory broth, veggies, char siu and slices of their tasty BBQ chicken. Highly recommended. Garlic Fish Plate Crisp, moist & flavorful deep-fried filets. Recommended. Imperial Rolls Their version of the egg roll, available with multiple proteins. It's good, not great. Fried Rice Pretty bland no matter what protein you choose. Pass. DESSERT: Tapioca Very good. Several different flavors to choose from. I like the vanilla & taro. Flan Traditional custard with a layer of sweet caramel sauce. Recommended. SERVICE: This is a takeout place. Food service is very quick and the staff are friendly. Call ahead your order for even faster service. OVERALL: Great prices, good flavors and portions. Great place to grab a food in a hurry.

Wide selection of meals, we tried fried rice with shrimp and spam and fried and minced pork with rice and salad and we both really enjoyed it. There's plenty of parking spots, enough outside seating with shade and the food comes out pretty quick. You can grab coffee and desserts across the street.

I ask for the soft chicken soft noodle the guys said if I want the option of seafood I said ok. My total came up to almost $30 w the boba. When I got home the noodle is so small and soup or sauce that came with it only had 4 pieces of tiny pieces of shrimp and 2 pieces of squid of whatever seafood they added and the rest is chicken and napa cabbage! Total rip off!

For me Ba-Le is one of those restaurants where I have a set favorite & order the same thing every time. My go to order is always the tofu pho with veggie broth & a Thai iced tea. Fun fact: their Thai tea has a rich tasty flavor & is one of my favorite go-to restaurants to get my Thai tea fix.

A rare spot in Maui for Vietnamese food! They offer a wide menu of noodles, rice, and sandwiches. The Vietnamese fish sauce base dipping sauce is good for rice based plate lunches. The fish was a bit too dry.. but the shrimp was good. The pho was literally the only pho I've tried on Maui. They only have a few types of toppings probably because less demand for other Vietnamese toppings like tendon, tripe, beef balls etc. The rare beef was tender enough. Ba-Le is a well known chain in the rest of the world.

Takeout Restaurant
Nestled within a Shell station in North Kihei, Havens is a delightful culinary gem that has quickly become a favorite among locals and savvy travelers alike. Founded by Maui's own Chef Zach Sato, this eatery prides itself on using fresh, locally sourced ingredients to create mouthwatering dishes. The menu features an enticing selection of temaki sushi and smash burgers, with the added bonus of noodles available at their storefront.
This is the best kept secret of the area. The food was so great. The fish sandwich was packed full of layers of flavor and perfectly cooked fish. Noodle dishes were excellent. Great price, too. Quick service, walked up for take out, and had the food ready in under 10 minutes. Absolutely recommend this place.

We wanted a burger tonight and this one looked like the one. So we went. Great little place, off the beaten track but worth the trip. Friendly service and reasonably quick. Excellent value for the money. Now, the burger... Amazing. So glad we came tonight. Burger was a bit messy to eat, the way it should be. Tots and frozen are quite big and easily shared between two people. Would love to come again. Hope we do!

We heard about this place from The Hawaii Vacation Guide blog. Holy smokes! It did not disappoint!! And the prices are some of the lowest we’ve seen on Maui our entire trip! Good portion sizes, too. I ordered easily online (they have pics of most of the menu items) and our order was ready in 20 minutes. The North Shore Shrimp Plate was so good I never wanted it to end. Kids loved the smash burgers! Wish I had taken more pics but if you need affordable delicious takeout food in Kihei, this is your spot!!! The noodles looked amazing—wish I could stay longer and try them!!!

The unchanging food scene in central Maui motivated me to drive to the south side for something new. Havens is Maui's newest eatery, opened by chef Zach Sato, formerly of Merriman's and The Restaurant at Hotel Wailea (the latter being a favorite of mine). ATMOSPHERE: They've taken over the former Suda Store space, sharing the building with the Shell gas station's convenience store. I knew I was in the right place as a five-alarm cloud of burger-grilling smoke punched me in the face as I entered the takeout-only eatery. The place was buzzing, especially due to their short operating hours of 10am - 3pm. MENU: Noodles (saimin, ramen, chow fun), oxtail soup, smash burgers in seven different selections, salad, sushi. FOOD: Deluxe Smash Burger - $9.00 Smash burgers are patties that are literally smashed on the grill to lock in the flavors and moisture, even resulting in an appealing texture. Don't think you're getting a skinny patty as this burger had some major weight to it as I picked it up which was a total surprise to me. The juices from the meat combined with the flavors from the dill pickles, melted American cheese and OG sauce (thousand island-based if I'm not mistaken) was so Haven-ly! Highly recommended! Crinkle Fries - $3.00 Your mainstream, frozen variety. The portion size was big enough for two to share. Tan Tan Ramen - $15.00 Not many places serve this complex broth and Havens hit it outta the park! Thick, creamy, spicy and filling, their version of sesame seed-based broth is very close to the benchmark recipe at Goma Tei Ramen on Oahu. Toppings included pork belly, Chinese broccoli, bamboo, garlic cloves and a "jammy" egg which was more hard-boiled than gooey and the only downfall of the dish. I can't comment on the true texture of the noodles as I had to warm everything up at home. A bit pricey but it's cheaper than flying to Oahu! SERVICE: I was immediately greeted and placed a walk-in order. A short 10-minutes later I had food-in-hand. OVERALL: The drive was totally worth it. Trying the Umami Smash Burger next.

I recently tried the Teppanyaki Style Steak Plate at Havens, featuring a 10 oz Angus New York steak. I asked for the steak to be cooked chef's style, and it was incredibly tender and delicious. The photo I took shows the steak halfway through eating . The vegetables served with it were also great. I first noticed Havens when at the Shell station for a car wash and saw many people ordering food. My decision to come back and try it out was definitely worth it. The meal was enjoyable and felt worth the price. Highly recommend for a satisfying steak meal. Even though it is located at the gas station there is still stool and counter top seating with the ocean visible from a portion. The staff was extremely friendly. Also free refills on soda :-)

This is a perfectly good burger place, but don’t go with high expectations. I got the breakfast burger. It was well cooked and the bun was soft. It was pretty greasy. I also got the kolohe fries. I’d get them again if I remembered to order them crispy. They were very soft and it quickly turned into a potato salad. Overall, a great burger considering its located in a convenience store.
Marshall U — Google review
There's an increasing trend of restaurants finding their homes in gas stations (for whatever reasons I don't know). Yet despite these oddities, the food at these places tends to be outstanding. Havens is no different. We got the Paniolo smash burger and the dry noodle. The smash burger was good - it was quite large and the balance of flavours was well constructed. The dry noodle though is mind-blowing. It's hard to put into words exactly why it's so good. Likely it's a culmination of intense wok-hei (that smoky, wok-seared flavour), a garlic chili oil for the stir fry, an abundance of aromatics and impeccable preparation of each ingredient in the stir fry. The egg strips had an ethereal, bouncy texture akin to that of something between an omelette and a flan. It was so good that we got another plate for the road. And the leftovers were almost as amazing 3 hours in. Just keep in mind that they don't have the noodle dishes in their new Kahului location. If you've read this far, do yourself a favour by paying them a visit. I can assure you that you won't regret it. The dry noodle is stellar and this is up there among the best stir fry noodles from any Asian restaurant I've visited in the past.

Shikeda Bento Patisserie is a hidden gem of a takeout restaurant that offers delicious and adorable treats. Their plate lunch, similar to a bento, consists of traditional favorites like teriyaki beef or chicken, hamburger with gravy, roast pork, or fried fish. It is traditionally served with steamed white rice and macaroni salad. This place is highly recommended for those who appreciate unique and flavorful dishes.
Amazing pastries! Super friendly staff too. We stopped by this on the way to the airport after spending a week on the island. The only regret is that we didn’t discover this place earlier as we would have come by several time. Don’t miss the ginger cookies.

Go there and just get what ever is there don't question anything. I had the cupcakes and milk bread buns from here. MAGICAL! My wife is a baker and a harsh critic. She loves both of them! (To the girl working the counter thank you on your recommendations she didn't kill me 😁.) Check it out you will not be disappointed... Unless they run out of everything cause it's that good.

This place was one of the last places we went to. The pastries were all amazing. We tried 3 different kinds because they do sell out pretty fast. I would come here when they first open in order to get your first picks. If you come later on, there might not be any left for the day. They also have ready to go meals in case you want a quick meal. Good service. You can find nearby parking. Prices are economical.

A little hidden inside a food court, but very very good. Had a very tasty pork belly bento and spam musubi for lunch and it really hit the spot. The gentleman who helped me was friendly too. Didn't get to try the pastries but they looked high quality.

OMG the pastries are decadent. So many choices you want a taste of everything. We got a few different pastries so we had a bite of our chosen few. Bentos are just as yummy
Diana W — Google review
This food court is a hidden gem in Wailuku. The pastries smack! The bentos are good too. And everything sells out daily so if there’s something you really want, then go early. The parking lot is small and apparently closed when we came so something to look out for. Very casual ambience given that it is a food court which is perfect for kids and families. You wouldn’t expect such high end pastries from a food court, highly recommend!

Went with my sister recently. The staff were exceptionally kind. Ordered the miso pork belly and strawberry guava pavlova bento for myself. This felt like a small portion at first when I got it to the eating it was portioned very well! The pork belly was very tasty and the sides went well with it all the change up the flavor. Also got a matcha dessert pastry (pictured) with it and this was amazingly refreshing! My sister had the fried chicken and she loved it as well. Can’t tell anything about the flavor cause it was there one moment but gone the next but I’m guessing it was good. The peace de resistance was this pastry that was given to us as a taster treat that they were added into their menu soon -I think. It was salmon and I believe feta cheese which was savory and sweet. Love, loved, will order again soon! Lastly and later in the day, we shared a delicious sweet pork bun (pictured) (sweet and yummy) and a pot pie bun (home-y with a bit too much bread) too. We ate these a bit later that day because what we had above was very filling. Didn’t get too many pics but will next time!
