Volcanoes
Molokini is a crescent-shaped islet off the coast of Maui, formed by a partially submerged volcanic crater. It's renowned as one of the best snorkeling spots in Hawaii, especially during summer swells. The unique geography and orientation of the crater create a natural shelter from strong currents and swells, providing a calm environment for snorkelers. Accessible by boat tours, Molokini offers exceptional visibility exceeding 180 feet and diverse marine life.
The water is very clear so you can see a long way. Lots of reef fish to see while snorkeling. Molokini is a mist visit location for snorkelers to go when they are on Maui.

Best experience for snorkelling. Out of the world. Nature’s beauty for visual treat.
Avudai I — Google review
As an inexperienced swimmer, I was nervous about snorkeling at Molokini Crater, but it turned out to be an amazing experience! The crew was friendly and professional, providing detailed instructions and all necessary gear. The water was crystal clear, and I quickly felt comfortable thanks to the supportive guides. The marine life was stunning. I saw colorful fish, coral reefs, and even sea turtles. The crew ensured our safety and shared interesting facts about the marine life. The tour was relaxed, allowing plenty of time to explore at my own pace. It’s a fun, memorable adventure with breathtaking underwater views!

Awesome snorkeling. First time as your typical middle age office worker. We went on January, the water was cool but it wasn't too cool. We adjusted to it fine. You need to physically be able to lift yourself up to a stair step just barely in the water to get back onto the boat. I'm north of 220 pounds, and while challenging it was doable. I highly recommend it. We were able to hear what sounded like 1,000s of distant whales in our go-pro videos. Super clear water, so many species of fish. Even saw a seal!
Daniel H — Google review
After coming here for snorkeling, we did not find any places around. The only thing I wish for is if there were some restaurants close by or something, because we got really hungry after the trip. I'd definitely suggest to bring some snacks or even pack a big lunch to each on the trip.

Went on an excursion here. Amazing. Never though I would do something like this as I am a bonafied city boy. It was great

Aquarium
Nature & Parks
Maui Ocean Center, The Aquarium of Hawaii, is a family-friendly 5-acre aquarium that offers a variety of species, including a tide pool and shark tank. Situated in Maalaea, it has become a popular attraction since opening in the late 1990s. Visitors can explore Hawaii's ocean ecosystem through interpretive exhibits, a 240-degree view tunnel, and one of the largest collections of live Pacific corals.
Worth a visit! This is a place to be informed about sea life, whales, turtles and all kind of fishes and corals. There is a lot of information displayed, too. You find many aquariums with the most impressive glass tunnel where you can see sharks, rays and other big fishes next to you, above and underneath. Another awesome place is to be informed about humpback whales. Don’t miss the 3D cinema thinking you’re under water next to the whales. You easily can spend 3h here to enjoy your time!
Michael F — Google review
My fiancé and I, along with our friends, purchased the couple’s package for morning admission and a 3 course lunch. We had a lot of fun learning about all of the animals and took some incredible pictures. We got to pet starfish and a sea cucumber. We took selfies with majestic sea turtles. We had a lot of fun seeing sharks in the viewing tunnel. The humpback whale 3D video was very moving. Our lunch and drinks were delicious and we had a lot to talk about after seeing the exhibits. It was a great double date activity. The staff was great too, thanks so much!
Megan S — Google review
The Maui Ocean Center was a great experience. I went with my sisters and niece. Kama'aina discount $29 adult regular price is in the $50 range as of October 2025. We stopped at the little "pools" where you can see many different types of ocena life. While they do have one where you can touch, I don't recommend that personally out of concern for the sea life, so we just look. Loved the underwater tunnel with all the sharks and fish and even the guy cleaning the tunnel in his dive gear. I suggest you take the time to enjoy the 3d experience which in October featured the humpback whales. No payment required for the 3d glasses! We had already eaten so we didnt get anything to eat. Many great exhibits and very educational. This is great for families with kids. Wear comfortable shoes and a lot is outside so take that I to consideration for clothing and sunscreen etc.
Meek K — Google review
We were lucky enough to take a Behind the Scenes tour of the center, then spent time looking at all of the exhibits. It was amazing seeing all the conservation efforts at this facility. Staff was incredible, knowledgeable and engaging. It was pricey but I would do it again and again. If you have little ones, it's very conducive to entertaining kids.
Cathi B — Google review
Our visit here was very nice. The coral displays are the best I have ever seen. The fish and turtles are awesome. I learned so much about Hawaiian history and culture during my visit. It was a lovely way to spend more than a few hours on a day where the sea was too rough and the wind was too blustery to be outside at the beach.
Blanca R — Google review
I wanted to take a moment to share my recent experience at the Maui Ocean Center, which I believe is an absolute must-see if you ever find yourself in Maui. The variety of sea life on display is simply amazing. I was particularly captivated by the sea turtles; they are such cool creatures and truly mesmerizing to watch! Each aquarium was filled with interesting fish, and I can't help but mention how friendly the staff were—they added so much to the overall experience with their knowledge and enthusiasm. The atmosphere of the center was special as well, with everyone there contributing to a warm and inviting environment. Plus, I found that the admission price was quite reasonable for all the incredible exhibits and experiences. If you’re ever in the neighborhood, I highly recommend making a stop at the Maui Ocean Center. It’s well worth the visit!
TheMrDesertjoe — Google review
we LOVED the aquarium. It has so many fish. The grounds and exhibits were clean. Perfect amount of walking for small kids. They also have a cool 3-D theater that the kids really enjoyed. We normally try to avoid gift shops, but The gift shop was wonderful and it seemed fairly priced with some very cool Hawaiian gifts. Very large selection. $50+ per person was not cheap and have to pay for parking but it was worth the visit. $5 cheaper if you buy day before online.
KC M — Google review
I’m from O’ahu and our aquarium is very small. So, coming to this one in Maui, very nice change of scenery. There is so much more to look at. I was very surprised how big the tanks are and how vibrant the fish were. Definitely would recommend visiting here. It’s worth the $$.

National park
Nature & Parks
Haleakalā National Park, located in Upcountry Maui to the southeastern coast, is a must-visit for outdoor enthusiasts. Covering nearly 25,000 acres of land, the park offers 30 miles of diverse hiking trails that lead through shrublands, subalpine zones, and down into the Hana rainforest district.
Excellent day trip for a visit with plenty of places to hike around or explore. The observatory was a bucket list visit for me as an astronomy nerd, even if I wasn't able to go inside. The front gate was not manned when I went through in mid-September 2025, I'm guessing due to current administration cuts to the National Park funding, but the cost for entry was still $30 via automated machine unless you had a lifetime pass (highly recommended!).
Luke C — Google review
Wonderful visit. I did not see sunrise but throughly enjoyed the visit. I recommend bringing a light jacket or sweatshirt for the summit as it is quite a bit cooler at the higher elevation with limited shrubbery. The wind whips up quite a bit, but you are above the clouds, so that is to be expected.
Shelley L — Google review
Haleakala is breathtaking! We skipped the early morning wake up call and decided to plan our trip around sunset (no advanced permit necessary). We made the adventurous trip up to 10k feet starting around 1:30p and stopped off at the Hosmer Grove nature trail to check out the cool birds endemic to the Haleakala area. Then journeyed up to the visitors center. Plan to do the short Pa Ka'oao trail from there to the lookout for the BEST views of the crater. The summit is also very cool but not much to do up there except take in the views. After checking out the summit, we went back to the visitors center parking lot where we knew we'd watch the sunset from. At this point in our trip, it was about 4:30p so we decided to do some of the Sliding Sands trail. We hiked a little over 1.5 miles round trip in 1h15m. Great little workout and gives you an appreciation for how vast the crater is. The sunset was spectacular and it felt otherworldly! Bring/wear warm clothes - it was probably high 40's by sunset up there and I've heard it can drop down to freezing during some parts of the year. Drive carefully on the way down. Those switchbacks in the dark can be stressful!
Brian S — Google review
Haleakalā National Park amazed me with its surreal volcanic landscape and the colors of the crater at sunrise were unforgettable. I really enjoyed the feeling of being above the clouds, which made the whole experience feel otherworldly. On the downside, the early morning drive up was exhausting and the cold at the summit was harsher than I expected. Still, I’d rate it 5 out of 5 for the sheer uniqueness and beauty of the place.
Yulia P — Google review
It’s a long and twisty drive up to the summit of the dormant volcano, 21 miles, but the views are stunning and the experience is priceless. It’s windy and cold so bring your windbreaker and sweatshirt and wear real shoes, lots of rocks.
Michael — Google review
Best experience. Hired car from Airport. Nice drive. Great views. It's volcano. Drive 9000 feet above sea level Above the clouds See weather change See flora and fauna change Forgot the beaches This is special
Richard A — Google review
Amazing views. The mountain peak is only 10k in altitude, but because it goes from sea level to 10k, the effect is dramatic. At some points it feels like you're driving into the clouds.
Emily Y — Google review
Great park with lots of view, plant life only found on the mountain/volcano. While we went during the government shutdown and no park rangers were on site, we had a tour and learned alot of information about the volcano and park. Our tour started early to watch the sunrise

Outdoor Activities
Kaanapali Beach is a popular destination in Maui, known for its beautiful shoreline and a variety of activities. Visitors can enjoy the beachwalk, swimming, and snorkeling while taking in the scenic views. The area is also home to resorts, eateries, and shopping options. One of the accommodations available at Kaanapali Beach is the Hyatt Vacation Club, offering beachfront access and amenities such as outdoor swimming pools and a 24-hour fitness center.
It is a nice beach with good facilities for food, drinks, and ice cream. However, the sea bottom is full of coral and stones, so you can easily injure your legs. Be very careful. You can rent equipment and even book a tour here.
Pavel ( — Google review
It’s like small city with beautiful greenery 1. Maui crafts and gifts fair happening. 2. There is huge golf course. 3. A very small parking in-front of actual beach entry like 10 slots in front of it (go straight, you will find more parking). There will be lots of other beach entrances. 4. Huge resorts and great place to chill and enjoy beach for. 5. Went during weekdays and less crowd than what I expected.
Hitro — Google review
Kaanapali is a piece of heaven on the earth. Beautiful beaches, lovely mountains and perfect sky. Here is now one of my most favorite places I've ever stayed.
Hanieh E — Google review
It’s one of the most beautiful beaches in Maui. We saw a few turtles and some beautiful fish while swimming so snorkeling is great there. Tons of space and clear water. There are rocky cliffs on the right side of the beach for some cliff diving but be careful because it’s quite slippery.
Elzbieta M — Google review
We went to visit for 2 weeks last month and the beach so beautiful, breathtaking and so clear. The water was not quite calm and too much waves but still did not stop my hubby to be in the water. We stayed at Marriott Ocean Lahaina so the resort right by the ocean. We observed a sleeping sea lion at one time. There’s so many upscale resorts along the beach and nice restaurants as well as its walking distance to Whalers Village. We enjoyed riding the Maui Bus. Will definitely be back, it was a quite memorable first time visit to Maui but we been to Hawaii 4 times already. Love Hawai’i so peaceful…
Dini A — Google review
Gorgeous beach lined with resorts so it does get busy. You've got a decent chance to see turtles here at the end by the black rock cliffs.
Kyle K — Google review
Kāʻanapali Beach is nice to look at, but honestly not a must-see when visiting Maui. The surf was pretty rough and the entry into the water was rocky and not great for swimming. It felt overly hyped up compared to other beaches on the island. We did get to see a Hawaiian Mono Seal which is incredibly rare. My photo of the beach is also extremely edited. If you’re in the area, I’d recommend heading just a little further north to Black Rock Beach — it has much better snorkeling, clearer water, and even some fun cliff jumping. Definitely a more memorable spot than Kāʻanapali.

Beautiful beach and more kid friendly for snorkeling, SUP, and other water activities with easy access to shops & dining.

Haleakalā is a massive, dormant volcano located within a unique nature park that offers visitors the opportunity to drive to its summit. There are various tours available, including ones that take you over Haleakalā, through Hana, and above the sea cliffs of Molokai. Visitors can also enjoy a picnic lunch at Waiheea, an area with lush surroundings and panoramic views of the island from the Waihee Ridge Trail.
Worth the hour drive up and $30 park fee to see these views. The road can be narrow in spots, so make sure you’ve got a confident driver and take it slow. Highly recommend the sunset views!
Thomas — Google review
The views from the top are absolutely mind-blowing. The trail is well-maintained all the way up to 10,000 feet, and seeing the sun above the clouds is something you don’t experience every day. This is definitely one of the must-do activities in Maui. If you’re a tourist or a local, you probably already know that—so don’t wait, just plan your sunrise trip! We went right after sunrise since we didn’t have a reservation, but next time, I’m definitely getting that damn reservation.
Raj — Google review
BREATH TAKING!!! SCARY!!! FUN!!!! All in one visit!!! This is one place, once in your life you should visit! We went there for the sunrise. But you can also go for sun down. Don’t buy tickets through an advertising company unless you want to take a tour bus or ride bikes down. We purchased our tickets through the government website and paid $1!!! Yes ONE DOLLAR! Took some time to get up there driving but well worth the drive. It’s cold when you get to the top… also a little different to breathe. But oh my god!! What a sight once the sun start peaking!! Breathtaking all the pun intended. The ride down in the daylight is kind of scary you don’t even realize how steep some of the cliffs are because when you go up it’s dark. Park rangers tell you that you are on your own so be weary of that. But it’s safe. Don’t let a little fear stop you if you are in Maui definitely make this part of your morning.
Crowned B — Google review
I am going to be honest upfront - I don't like "bald" type of mountains - without any greenery. Also, we travel a lot, so our expectations are getting higher and higher after each trip. That being said, after reading reviews I had pretty high expectations. Sunrise option wasn't available for us, so we went with the sunset. Parking was a nightmare even hours before the sunset, so take it into consideration when planning your trip. There are few trails nearby that we did since we had plenty of time to kill. Views were indeed like from another planet, but got old pretty quick. About an hour before the sunset light conditions were not very good for taking pictures, so keep it in mind if you plan taking photos out there. I was holding my breath waiting for sunset.... only to be puzzled by all these raving reviews how amazing it is... It was typical sunset, nothing really special in my opinion. Sunset from our Kihei condo was pretty much the same if not better. I didn't feel I was on top of the world. Before sun even remotely went down, the majority of people run to their cars and headed down creating a major traffic congestion. We packed picnic type of dinner and spent time in the car waiting for full darkness to see night sky and stars. There was only one other car left and again, nothing spectacular. Night sky in the middle of the ocean on the cruise is 100 times more impressive. One thing reviews were not lying about was the temperature drop once sun is down. I am glad we had hats and gloves with us. The wind was very cold making you feel uncomfortable.
Ana S — Google review
Really unique park that you would not expect on hawaii because of the elevation. The best place to watch the sunrise was the summit building. We could even see the visitor center down below in the clouds. Relatively small parking lot though, sunrise was at 530 and when we arrived at 415, it was already half full. Suggest getting there at least an hour early for sunrise, otherwise the visitor center down below has some nice viewpoints if it's not cloudy. Deifntely bring layers. It was 38 degrees in June. Nice walking trails around the summit also, including a cool view of the telescopes. There's no services in this building or parking lot though. You'll have to go down to the visitor center for that. The visitor center near the summit was super helpful for maps of the park and the few hiking trails that start there and go through the "crater." A lot of good tips from the staff. Also, fantastic views of the "crater" that you don't get anywhere else right off the back walkway of the visitor center. On the ride down, there's a couple overlooks that provide for perfect photo ops of both sides of the island: kalahaku and leleiwi. The seven pools are still closed to swimming because of unpredictable floods, but it's also a must-see accessible via the road to Hana. Aside from the black sand beach and waterfalls, there's a lot of informative displays along the short .5 mile or longer 2 mile hikes there. The visitor center there is also a great resource for trail maps and other park information, also with a small gift shop.
Brandon D — Google review
Super cool! It's worth the drive and $30 park fee. Breathtaking views. Bring warm clothes + hiking shoes if you are going to hike! We messed up and didn't have anything warm, I'm still upset at myself for this, lol!
Angie R — Google review
If your in Maui, this is not something you wanna miss. This is a must to visit and you won’t regret it! 100% Best time to visit here is either sunrise or sunset! For sunrise you need to book it in advance and it always sold out! We went on the sunset time, however come in like minimum 1 hour in advance, so that you can a parking on the summit or else you’ll be parking on the visitor center and will be probably walk a little further more. I would suggest bringing a jacket because it get cold once you’re up at the summit. Feels like a late fall whether in North America. Getting there is very winding and steep road, advice is that you’re gonna need someone who’s capable of driving it and with quite a bit of experience driving in the dark. Careful when you drive and always take your time! There’s also at the time a $30 fee for the entrance for the national park. They only accept card. Overall, this is quite an experience to do here at Maui and it’s something you don’t want to miss out! Have fun and respect the land!

We ended up going here twice. The first time was we had reservations for dinner and they ended up getting us an early. It was the best steak I have ever had highly recommend. They gave us a sweet card celebrating our belated honeymoon. The service was outstanding. everybody was so kind and loving the music was incredible and to watch the sunset was absolutely spectacular. We went back a few days later and had breakfast the banana macadamia nut pancakes were incredible. My husband had a burrito and said it was amazing. It looked good too, but most importantly, I loved our servers. They did such a wonderful job. I was just blown away. Here’s a few pictures of those experiences. I love this place and cannot wait to go back. Her server was absolutely extraordinary. Make sure this is one of your stops along the way it’s worth going and I will go every single time I go back.

Great atmosphere. Definitely loud, but the tiki torch lighting is lovely and restful, and the service (our waiter was Michael) is excellent. Food was pretty good. My husband loved his seafood risotto (plenty of scallops, a small lobster tail, and one big shrimp). My macadamia crusted fish was a bit dry, but the rice, veg, and butter caper sauce were tasty. The portion was on the smaller side for mine, although the risotto was plentiful. Delicious hula pie and coffee. Glad we ate here!

Beautiful ocean view and some pretty good grub. Started with Calamari and Macadamia Humas. Calamari was thick sticks, with an excellent aioli. Humas included carrots zucchini and pita bread, excellent. Bacon cheese burger with avocado was chared nicely with some crunchy beer battered fries. Little woman had Maui Caesar salad with sunflower seeds, kale, mixed greens and a light dressing (a little underwhelming on the dressing flavor). Our dining guest had the fish tacos (2 in soft tortilla) & said they were excellent. Make a reservation as they are busy during peak eating times.

Good food and nice service. Its a resort style beach bar/restaurant. There was live music too so that was nice. You don't have to own or stay at the resort to park or eat here and the parking is free. The live music was pretty chill and fit the lunch beach vibe.

Nice little restaurant right off the boardwalk. The staff is super nice. We only had to wait a few minutes for our seats. The poke tacos and ahi sashimi were outstanding! They also offer a lot of nice drinks! Prices were pretty good as well. Overall, I would recommend stopping if you are walking down the boardwalk.

Duke’s is a must if you’re in the Lahaina area. The location is as spectacular as the service. Brian was attentive, very friendly, and quick to bring our order! You can't go wrong with anything on the menu, from salads to burgers. I loved the fish and chips and also tried the Caesar salad. Leave room for the world-famous Hula Pie and spend some time at the beach afterward.

Delicious, fresh seafood at the cost you would expect for a seafood restaurant on a Maui resort. Service was very efficient and nice. Bar area has 5 tables and bar seating all first come first serve otherwise reservations are needed for the rest of the seating. Live music on a Sunday at 3P. Split an appetizer (nachos) and the fish plate. They kindly split the fish plate and presented it on two separate plates and half portions without extra charge. Fantastic service. Drinks were amazing.

Nestled in the historic town of Lahaina, Lahaina Grill has been a top dining destination for over two decades. This elegant restaurant offers a blend of locally sourced ingredients and international cooking methods to craft innovative New American cuisine. The ambiance is equally impressive, with fine china and crystal adorning the tables, vibrant paintings by renowned artist Jan Kasprzycki gracing the walls, and charming pressed tin ceilings adding to the overall inviting atmosphere.
Lovely vibe, incredible food, and great service! A lot of options are gluten free. I got the seared lion paw scallops, and they were some of the best scallops I’ve ever had! So soft and creamy with a delicious sauce. The truffle oil really made the dish! Our server was very knowledgeable and attentive, and the bartenders had a great time on Halloween.

Very nice experience. The food was incredibly flavorful, the ambiance was classy. We enjoyed the excellent wagyu ravioli with the warm fresh bread. The French onion soup and seafood chowder were great. We split the daily special Opakapaka with amazing risotto. They notified us of the extra charge to split and we were happy with did it when we saw how beautifully it was plated. Every dish was super rich and delicious. A very nice touch when they brought my husband a birthday card, dessert and took our photo. I read reviews of how incredible service was, so I think I was expecting a lot. While our server was friendly, we didn’t find it very attentive. It was busy, so I understand he had his hands full. It was a lovely fine dining experience!

An absolute must-visit fine dining restaurant. If you are in Maui, you must dine here. The atmosphere is inviting and intimate. The staff is knowledgeable of the entire menu and very polite. Their wine list is second to none. They have their own sommelier who procures vino from around the world, so you have a tremendous amount of bottled options ranging from $60 per bottle to over $10K. They have many gluten-free options or can make some options gluten-free with a chefs tweak here or there. The bowl of fish chowder was to die for and is a must-try. Lastly, the owner will stop by and introduce himself and chat with you. He provides the highest level of concierge service, which, besides the amazing food and atmosphere, is why this place consistently ranks among the very, very best in the world and deserves the reputation it has most assuredly earned.

Honestly, best service we have had in a very long time. Thank you Lisa and Eric for being so attentive. The little special touches go a long way in our book. The food matched the service and was spectacular. We were celebrating our anniversary and they took a picture of us, gave us a card, and a desert. My husband is Gluten Free and they paid very special attention to his dietary restrictions. They made sure he could still try the seafood special of the day and dessert. Even the doggy bag hanger was a nice touch.

Excellent dinner. The food was amazing. Everything sounded great so it was hard to decide what to get. The drinks we got were delicious too. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We definitely will be coming back next time we’re in Maui. This was the best meal we had on the island. Everything we got was phenomenal. The owner of the restaurant even came around and thanked us for dining there. Great experience all around.

Had a wonderful experience. Food was excellent. Service was exceptional! Only thing I didn’t really care for was the fish chowder. We really enjoyed the bufala tomato salad. Although it’s a bit pricey for what you get but it’s worth a try. The Osso Buco tasted amazing and they leave the bone marrow intact. Seared Ahi Tuna was cooked perfectly. The flavor is well balanced.

Absolutely phenomenal food and was one of the highlights of our trip. I went with my fiance for an anniversary dinner and had incredible service and complimentary dessert. Highly recommend the rack of lamb and the steak. The soups were fantastic as well. Make sure to reserve in advance because it's all worth it!

We went there to celebrate both of my parents’ 60th birthday. It was a phenomenal place! From the tequila shrimp to the slow braised boneless short ribs to the mushroom ravioli to the salmon filet, all of it was incredibly delicious and flavorful! They even surprised us with birthday cards and a beautiful dessert. Our server Mike was very friendly and knowledgeable about the menu! Overall, we all had a great experience!

Surfing Goat Dairy is a unique and enjoyable experience on the island, offering walking tours every half hour where visitors can feed the animals, see the facilities, and sample award-winning cheeses in various flavors. The dairy uses vegetable rennet to create creamy and delightful cheeses with minimal gaminess. With over two dozen kinds of goat cheese available for purchase, including exotic varieties with tropical ingredients, visitors can also find gift baskets and goat-milk soaps in the dairy store.
While staying in Upcountry this is a must to check out! We didn’t have time for the tour and instead opted for the goat cheese flight where you can try an assortment of cheeses made right there from the very goats you just fed a bucket of hay to! The different cheeses were out of this world good! They also have a very cute gift shop with goat shirts, books, mugs, cheeses, desserts-you name it! If traveling with kids I’d definitely suggest doing the tour where seeing them milk the goats is part of it all. Overall thrilled with our decision to stop and hang with the crew at Surfing Goat Dairy!
Lauren W — Google review
Our tour guide was great and the kids LOVED feeding the goats! We got samples of goat cheese and we each got a free goat cheese truffle as well! Very memorable. We got the fresh cheese flight and ate every bit. There were many flavors and they offered several different types of crackers. Delicious! Super great experience.

We stopped at Surfing Goat Dairy on our way to watch the sunset at Haleakala. The tour was great and interactive. We were able to feed the goats, milk some goats and taste fresh goat cheese. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and super friendly. At the end of the tour we tried the flight of different flavors of goat cheese. So good! Super cute place!
Michelle G — Google review
Definitely worth a stop to try out these delicious goat cheeses! You can choose between firm or soft. 1 flight is enough for 2 people (or more to split because they are rich and tasty. You can take a tour which is about 45min - hour which you can milk a goat at the end. The only bummer is that I wish you could pay just to milk a goat for the people and groups that are less patient or unwilling to walk the grounds but want to interact with the goats.
Breana M — Google review
Very cool dairy farm! You can book a short tour that comes with goat feeding and a small cheese & choco tasting, but you don't need to if you just want to enjoy the farm. The shop has treats like chocolate truffles, quiches, and a lilikoi cheesecake make with cheese from the farm. There's a lovely seating area to enjoy your treats and just watch the goats. The tour is informative about goat breeding, rearing, milking, the dairy industry, and cheesemaking.
Emily Y — Google review
We visited the Surfing Goat for the casual tour. It was amazing to learn about the goats while getting to feed them. The tour was only a half hour, but it was the perfect amount of time to get to know how everything works, ask some questions, and even try some amazing cheese and a delicious goat cheese truffle- which I had never had anything like before but LOVED. The truffles were so creamy inside and overall blew me away with a combo of my 2 favorite things- chocolate and cheese! We also did the cheese tasting flights (both of them), The mixed flight includes the most popular 3 soft cheeses and 3 other cheeses that were soft and in some oils while the chevre one is 6 different soft cheeses and included some unique flavors. We loved every single thing we tasted. There were a few with spicy flavors like jalapeno, but the spread held the flavor without any heat which made it edible for even people like me who can't handle any heat well. If I had to pick some favorite cheeses it was a garden herb chevre, a garlic chive chevre, and mixed cheese that was in olive oil rosemary and thyme whose name I forgot.

We did this on a whim and had such a blast! We did the Golden Girls tour and had a blast. We got to feed goats and brush them, while learning all about each of the goats and the entire farm. The goats are like dogs - each had unique personalities and stories. I just loved all of it and was sad when it was over. We had a cheese flight afterwards and everything we ate was SO good. Be sure to try a truffle!! This place is really awesome - I would highly recommend it. We had been to Maui before and were looking for things that weren't on the traditional to-do list. This was one of the best things we did on our trip!

What a great place to visit! We were here soon after they opened in 2002 and again this week. A lot has changed, and it’s even better now! Tracy’s tour was terrific as was the sample cheese tray. Pipiwai Trail is a popular and busy trail located in Haleakala National Park, offering visitors the chance to experience a variety of natural wonders. The trail takes hikers through a lush bamboo forest and past notable attractions such as Makahiku Falls and the impressive 400-foot Waimoku Falls. While the pools may be closed, visitors can still appreciate their beauty from afar.
A great, if not a bit strenuous, hike. Many beautiful things. My favorite was the bamboo forest. It was magical!

Very nice trail, not too difficult to walk through also with kids. Beautiful part of Maui.

The trail offers spectacular views but it’s not a good idea to go their with small children. The trail and stairs are quite challenging. We‘ve been there with children (4 and 6) and it was really tough. Probably wouldn’t do this again. Ente to the park is $30 - so it’s definitely not a quick photo stop.
Drabgah C — Google review
Not a typical trail as it is very rocky. Wear good shoes that are waterproof. Bamboo forest is unreal and just super cool. The fall itself is majestic but then again all the big falls are.
Cal C — Google review
If you love hiking, don’t miss this 4-mile hike through the rainforest and bamboo forest. It’s stunning. And the waterfalls along the way are beautiful. We began our hike at 8:00 am - yes we had a very early morning coming from Lahaina and having to drive the road to Hana and past Hana to get to the trailhead. But it was worth it! One of the best parts of the hike was hearing the tops of the bamboo trees clank against each other when the wind picked up. So amazing!

Makena Beach, also known as Big Beach, is a stunning and spacious beach located in Makena State Park on Maui. It is a popular spot for swimming and snorkeling, offering soft white sand and bright turquoise waves. The beach's sheer size and dramatic scenery make it one of the most beautiful places on the island. Despite its powerful shorebreak, which makes it one of the most dangerous swimming beaches on Maui, many people still consider it their favorite year after year.
Makena Beach is a breathtaking spot with golden sand, crystal-clear waters, and powerful waves that demand respect. The beach is spacious, making it easy to find a quiet spot even when it's busy. Lifeguards are on duty, but the shore break can be intense, so swimming isn't ideal for beginners. Parking is paid, but there's some free street parking if you arrive early. Food trucks nearby offer quick bites, but bring water and shade since there's little natural cover. This is a must-visit for those who love dramatic coastal scenery, but caution is key if you're getting in the water.
Shane P — Google review
Beautiful and perfect if you are not a big ocean swimmer and prefer to just lay and watch the waves. Also beautiful for a sunset and/or evening beach photos. If you like to swim in the ocean but afraid of big, aggressive waves, then this may not be the spot for you. The orange flag was waving the day we visited. The lifeguard came over the intercom announcing to be cautious due to previous injuries that include spinal injuries.
Libbi F — Google review
Best Maui beach in my opinion. It was not crowded, there was soft white sand, and the sunset was unbelievable. Just take into consideration that this is not a swimmable beach.
Christian M — Google review
Most beautiful water, clear light blue and very warm. It costs money to visit since it's a state park i think it was $10 per vehicle and then $5 per person. So gorgeous!
Morgan J — Google review
Great beach to go to. Take a chair and umbrella to sit and a nice long beach to walk. There is also places for shade. Take your food and drinks. Nothing there to buy.
Lucinda D — Google review
One of my favorite beaches on Maui. Good waves, clean golden sand, and plenty of space. There’s paid parking, but many people park along the road. It’s about a 5-10 minute walk. Great place to catch the sunset.
M P — Google review
As the name suggests, Big Beach is very spacious, around 0.5 miles long. The sand is soft and great for relaxing. Swimming can be done as well, but only in the right conditions. This beach is known for creating huge, unexpected waves, so only intermediate to strong swimmers should be swimming here.
Local R — Google review
Amazing beach! Super clear water, soft sand, some shade from the trees, pretty empty with only a few people around. The waves are big! No joke! So be careful going in & out of the water. I saw a few people snorkeling further out & some people surfing. The state park has a $10 parking fee but we drove a bit past the parking lot & parked on the side of the road for free. This beach is super chill & relaxing & was one of our favorite beaches in Maui! Definitely check it out

Hiking Trails
Waihee Ridge Trail is a moderate five-mile hike in West Maui that takes you nearly 2,600 feet above sea level. The trail offers panoramic views of Waihee Valley, Makamakaole Falls, Haleakala, the West Maui Mountains, and the ocean. It features switchbacks through green forests and sunny ridgelines leading to Lani-ili summit.
This is a moderately challenging steady uphill hike to the peak with some steep and slippery areas and quite a bit of uneven ground. We went on a clear sunny day and the ground was mostly dry. With hiking poles we found the hike very manageable. We climbed to the top in about an hour and 15 minutes. Without poles I would have been nervous on the way down due to some steep areas. The views are so beautiful we stopped so many times to take in the beauty and take pictures. This might be my favourite trail. The trail doesn't have a lot of cover from the sun but you will catch a breeze in many spots along the way.
Janice L — Google review
The best hike on the island, but please be prepared! It's not an easy walk! Make sure you have comfortable shoes you don't mind getting dirty and enough water. This trail is about 2 miles one way with 1500 ft elevation gain. You feel it when you are walking! We witnessed so many people attempting to take this trail without proper shoes or water and turning back, that's why I am writing this - get ready! Parking lot fills up fast, so try to get there early. There was broken glass on the ground, so don't leave anything valuable in your car. Lower/overflow parking lot will add a hike uphill for you, but if you wait around at the main one, you will get a spot as people come and go. Another reason to be there early is to get best views from the peak. It is disappointing to make it to the very top to see... nothing. We spent about 4 hours there (with much needed breaks on the they up, as well as breaks for pictures). There are no restrooms anywhere near, so plan accordingly. The views are amazing and probably don't change much from half way up. There was a bit of tropical rain, which was very refreshing, but def not requiring a raincoat or umbrella. We visited in early August and Strawberry Guava was in season (wild). It was pretty to see and interesting flavor to try. Our teenage boys like first half of the trail. Making stops to rest was necessary to keep going. Highly recommend this trail!
Ana S — Google review
#1 and #3 ranked all trail on the island by 2 lists. There is 1500 ft of elevation gain from the parking lot with steep gains at the beginning and end. We found it to be a very strenuous hike but not difficult. Total time close to 3 hrs, but experienced hikers in better shape could do in 2. VERY Cloudy at the top so the view was nil. Highly recommend if you're up for a challenge.
Andrew H — Google review
This trail is absolutely beautiful. Stunning views along the way. NOT FOR THOSE WITH PHYSICAL RESTRICTIONS. The initial uphill concrete walkway is a total workout. Leave your flip flops in the car. Wear hiking or tennis shoes. You get your shoes muddy. By far 1 of the best hiking trails we did in Maui. It's worth it when you get to the top. Take water and snacks. This is a moderate to hard trail.
E F — Google review
HIKING BOOTS! But it is simply the most beautiful hike you will ever go on if you've never been to a tropical area! Breathtaking views, especially if you can beat the clouds and get there early before the parking lot fills. There is a backup parking lot a mile below down the paved road. Even if it hasn't rained the rocks and ground are very slick this is why you need a hiking boots not tennis shoes. If you do that you will have the best hike you've ever been on!
Matthew P — Google review
The views from this hike are stunning! 🏞️ The view over the mountains and the ocean is unparalleled. The path is quite reasonable, although a bit rocky and uneven in places. It is a steep climb though - over 1500ft in incline, so it takes about 3 hours for the round trip. If you don't arrive early (the trail opens at 7am) it is likely that you will have to park in the overflow car park, which adds 25 mins uphill to your hike.
Rani — Google review
A beautiful trail but hard due to the uneven trail. Not much shade in the latter parts. Coming down was harder on my knees because the rocks were slippery. The first and last 1/2 mile are the steepest. Took us about 3 hrs because we stopped a lot. The views of the surrounding peaks and Maui North Shore are unparalleled. Parking is difficult. No bathrooms and no water. Bring plenty.
An P — Google review
Absolutely unbeatable views. Trail was a bit dusty and I can see it being pretty muddy when it rains. Trail was very easy to follow. I found the trail to be relatively challenging with the elevation gain. Parking can be an issue. There were a few spots left when I arrived at 8:15am on a Monday. By the time I finished the lot was full and people were parking at the overflow lot a good distance (1 mi) down the road. Come early!

Step back in time and immerse yourself in the rich history of Maui's sugar industry at the Alexander & Baldwin Sugar Museum. Housed in a former mill superintendent's home, this 1800 square foot museum offers a fascinating journey through the establishment and growth of the island's sugar industry. Visitors can explore exhibits that detail how sugar is grown, harvested, and milled while gaining insight into the lives of plantation workers.
Very informative. Very sweet lady who checked us in. Nice gift shop
Sarah R — Google review
The museum is small with informative displays depicting the history of the sugar can factory. There is no lines and not crowded. The outside displays could need some landscaping with walkways and information signs. I was hoping to tour the actual factory. But it looks like it's in the processed of being demolished? Because there were piles of debris around the factory. Overall highly recommend a visit.
Cmiamt — Google review
It was great to read about the history that so clearly formed the culture on Maui. Knowing the history and hearing the toll it took for the people was amazing. Interactive and fun for my teens.

This is a very educational and interesting museum to learn the history of the Sugar Industry in Maui. Highly recommend.
Lucinda D — Google review
This is a curious gem of a museum. I adore looking at industrial machinery from before the era of computerization, and this place is a wonderland for that. There's a lovely green outdoor area with picnic benches and things like giant wheels and gears placed like statues around you. Inside holds a mix of historical items, some more relevant than others, but it provides a great history lesson, not just about the process and challenges of sugar production, but also about the horrific exploitation of laborers and the interesting communities they formed. I had wondered about the source of water on Maui's dry side and found the answers at this museum. There is a cute gift shop as well as a very clean restroom. The ladies at the front desk were friendly. You could spend anywhere from half an hour to a couple of hours here depending how much detail you want to absorb. It's a good place for both kids and adults I think.

Hiking Trails
The Lahaina Pali Trail is a challenging 5-mile hike that offers breathtaking views of Kahoʻolawe, Lana'i, and the Kaheawa Wind Farm. The trail, which takes about three hours one way, climbs 1,600 vertical feet and provides panoramic vistas of the central valley. During winter, hikers can spot numerous humpback whales off the coast. The route follows an old road with historical significance dating back over 200 years.
This trail has everything but requires to hike to get to its peak. You get the views, the windmill, the windy breeze, and lastly no shades though. Straight incline at the beginning and can’t stop looking at the views because it’s beautiful. Once you get to the windmill spot it’s already worth the hike and time to get there. Imagine going on the sunrise and sunset to capture this with the windmill it would be amazing. Hike is hard with steady inclines and no shade but it’s best to bring enough water, and sunscreen for skin since the sun is gonna be on you when it’s a clear day. If only there’s a windmill trail in Oahu but I don’t think it’ll happen 🤷‍♂️.
Jerome A — Google review
Begin on the east side parking lot or the weat side parking lot. Both routes take 2 hours one way, but starting east and going west is a beautiful reward of ocean views, and sandalwood and maybe even some dolphins. Just know there is no loop. So however far you walk you must also return that same distance. Otherwise you will be stuck calling and Uber or walking on the road 2 hours to return to your car. No shade, bring water and sunscreen or UV jackets. Amazing exercise and up close views of the windmills as well
Jordan D — Google review
Great hike with beautiful views of the ocean - Haleakela and Kehei/Makena. There is zero shade on the entire trail - so make sure to bring more than enough water and a sun hat + sunscreen. I parked my car at the East Trail Entrance and took an Uber to the West Entrance to start there. I would recommend getting out there early and finish the trail before 10AM. It is also super windy on the top near the wind turbines. The trail gets pretty rocky so bring good shoes.
Cameron H — Google review
Nice easy moderate trail with views of the ocean but isn't quite stunning if you're used to the beautiful valley hikes on Oahu. It doesn't rise super high and you get expansive views of the areas surrounding the trail and the vast expanse of the ocean. Wish there was more variety of ups and downs to change up the visual scenery. Big wind turbines along the path as well which kind of distract from the view but cool if you wanted to see how large they are up close.
Victor W — Google review
This hike was awesome! A bit challenging for a beginner but doable. The views from the top are amazing and worth it. Hike seems a lot further than it was, 3 miles to the wind turbines and 3 miles out, don’t get discouraged if you feel at every turn that you are almost there and realize you are not 😂 Make sure you have good hiking shoes and take plenty of water. Try to avoid the heat of the day as there are no shaded areas on this hike but if you don’t mind the sun don’t forget sunscreen.
Alejandra G — Google review
If you can, do this on a cool/windy or overcast day, will make the hike more enjoyable! If you do it from one end to the other, bring lots of water and stay hydrated as well as snacks! The view from the windmills are amazing and if you do the hike from west side by ocean, you will many more incredible views, stop and take it in!! Wear good shoes, hiking sticks if you need balance when hiking down, can have some lose rocks on the way. This is a must die those who like to hike, not for beginners, saw too many with only one bottle of water for 5-6ppl lol!! Enjoy!
Maddi D — Google review
The Lahaina Pali Trail is a great hike if you want a view of the ocean, coast, and giant wind turbines on Maui’s west side. This is a fairly intense hike for a couple reasons. First, the trail is uphill with very few breaks, and you can see the terrain below (the path is within the rock piles). Secondly, unless you go early in the morning or late in the afternoon, the hike is extremely hot. A breeze picks up around halfway up, but prior to that you’ll feel the heat. It’s absolutely necessary to bring a lot of water and sunscreen, particularly if you’re just visiting the island and haven’t fully acclimated to the heat. I’d also recommend a hat and sunglasses. Parking and access is free. As of December 2019 the hillsides are still a bit barren due to fires from the summertime, but the hike is still attractive. The health data screenshot I’ve included was my activity from this hike.
Lauralei S — Google review
Great morning hike. Very rocky on the first half of the climb if you are starting from the east trailhead near the 310 and 30 intersection. After the first mile the trail gets a little lighter on the rocks and flattens out a bit. It gets really windy at times, so be careful of any lose items on you. There is virtually NO shade, so make sure you are wearing sunscreen. The views climbing up are fantastic and the wind turbines at the top are quite impressive.

Super tranquil n cool on a late September afternoon to visit. Barely any crowd. So glad we visited away from the more popular but full of tourists. No need to pay parking if u are on a budget. Lots of street parking just outside of the park entrance.

I know why this is one of the most Sacred places for the Hawaiian people. There is an energy coming off of these mountains, it gave me goosebumps. The majestic beauty that is found in the valley, and much more. There is a grounding sense of peace. "I removed my shoes and grounded myself in the energy of this place." It is must SEE and BE. One of my best memories in Maui.

As a travel photographer, I had the honor of capturing a family session here. The valley was one of our favorite stops on Maui. The views are breathtaking!

One of the best places in Maui. I highly recommend going to this place. Reservations are required in advance. It is a small hike to reach the needles which are breath taking. The clouds touching them gives you magical experiences. It’s a 10/5 experience and highly recommended. The water flow view even beautiful if you hike down a bit under big tress. There is a beautiful garden also. It rains, becomes sunny, becomes cloudy weather changes in every 15 minutes. It’s one of the best experiences.

My husband and I just loved this church! We attended the 9am Sunday morning service while we were on vacation. The pastor spoke in English and in Hawaiian. After the service was over, they invited us to eat with their church family. It felt like home! The pastor's wife is also an amazing cook/baker! (She made cookies very similar to my mother's) Thank you for making us feel accepted and like we were family! If anyone is looking for a loving church family, or just a great church to visit while you're on Maui, this may be the place God is calling you to! We definitely recommend a visit!

Ka’anapali Beach, located in the west Maui area, is a stunning 1.5-mile stretch of fine white sand that runs from the Sheraton to the Hyatt. It features a beach walk and an upscale outdoor shopping mall with excellent dining options, creating a sense of community among the resorts.
Kaanapali Beach is simply stunning! Even though I haven't been there since the Lahaina fire, I can assure you that when I visited, it was one of the most beautiful beaches I've ever seen. Crystal-clear waters, pristine sand, and breathtaking views make it a must-visit destination.

Sand was so soft and beautiful. It’s definitely rougher waters but my older kids had a great time. It’s right off a busy tourist spot so lots of food and shopping close by.

We like the north part of this world famous beach which is just 100 feet south MK806. You can walk along the beach from Maui Kai or use the access through the park. There is over a mile of Kaanapali Beach north of Black Rock and about half a mile more beach in the hotel area. Literally miles of perfect sand, boardwalks and sunsets.

Great beach! The water is amazing and the snorkeling and cliff jumping at Black Rock os so much fun!!! Plenty of food options in the Whaler’s Village! I loved it
Maria B — Google review
Beautiful golden beach. We didn't do much exploring but the boardwalk looks to be a great way to see it. Our condo was on the very north end. The water was silty but could still see fish, sea turtles and a shark swam about 6 feet in front of me. It wasn't packed to the gills like Kapalua Bay. There are restaurants the whole way along the boardwalk and places to rent snorkel gear. Take an umbrella as there aren't many opportunities for shade.
Karen T — Google review
Very nice, quaint, quieter beach. Clear water, a fair amount of coral, plentiful fish and eel make it a good beach to enjoy the water, snorkel, and/or chill with some beverages in your tommy bahama. Was able to find some decent shade under trees overhanging the beach. Only issue was there are a fair amount of rocky areas that prove dangerous in wavy conditions. Just be aware of where you enter and you’ll be fine.
Alex S — Google review
This is a fine beach. Our biggest beef with it was that it's hard to find parking over in this area of Maui. You have to pay for parking or snag a rare public parking spot. We found the parking lot here and it actually ended up working out fine. The hardest thing is that the beach is lined with a bunch of hotels, so it can be challenging to figure out where you can access the beach. We sat here on the beach for a bit and also snorkeled. We even saw a couple turtles here.

Halekiʻi-Pihana Heiau State Monument is a significant historical site in Maui, featuring the hilltop ruins of two important ancient stone temples. Once serving as the royal court of Kahekili, this hidden gem offers informative interpretive signs and stunning views. Although access may require a little uphill walk due to the closure of the entry road and parking lot, visitors find it worth the effort to explore this culturally rich and historically significant location.
Hard to find. Entry road and parking lot no longer open so there is a little uphill walk. Informative interpretive signs still there (Maui was formed by three dome volcanos). An important Maui historical site. Views are great.

Turtle Town, located on the southern coast of Kihei and Makena in Maui, is a popular spot for snorkeling with sea turtles. While some areas can be accessed from the shore, taking a snorkel tour by boat ensures the best conditions for encountering these majestic creatures. The ocean area off Nahuna Point, also known as Five Graves or Five Caves, offers excellent diving opportunities with its numerous ledges and grottos teeming with marine life.

Restaurant
Mama's Fish House, located on Maui's north shore, is a renowned local landmark offering a seafood-driven Hawaiian menu and stunning ocean views. The restaurant has received accolades such as being a semi-finalist for the 2018 James Beard Foundation Awards and ranking as the second most popular restaurant in the U.S. on OpenTable. With daily farm-to-table deliveries, their menus constantly change to showcase fresh, locally caught fish as the star of the show.
Can’t recommend enough! No wonder they start booking 6 months in advance! Amazing experience start to finish! Our server Eli was above and beyond! He made our dining experience 5⭐️. He had such a good understanding of the flavor palette of each meal and described it in detail, knew the history of the restaurant and was attentive and kind. The views were breathtaking and the drinks were on point. The food was to die for!!! Especially that short rib! Would definitely recommend for a nice dinner out for a special occasion!

We had a wonderful experience at Mama‘s Fish House. Have been here before years ago. The view is unbeatable. Although we did not have reservations, we were able to easily walk in and only waited 10 minutes for a seat at the bar. Our bartenders Tom and Jordan made the best Mai tais and gin based cocktail. We shared crabcakes which were full of a large amount of delicious crab and served with roe on top. We also had the shrimp wontons with a macadamia nut dipping sauce. The lobster bisque had plenty of lobster chunks within it. The Hawaiian Onaga and ahi sashimi dish was amazing. So fresh and flavorful. Do not miss this. For dessert, we opted for the island fruit sorbet which was great, but next time I will definitely order the chocolate Polynesian black pearl. The only thing that could use some improvement is better Wi-Fi service within the restaurant. Overall, a great experience and something everyone should try if their budget and time allows. Try making a reservation in advanced here for sunset.

Mamma’s Fish House truly delivers on the experience — the food is fresh and beautifully prepared, the drinks are excellent, and the service is warm and attentive. Everything feels polished and full of aloha spirit. That said, the price point doesn’t quite match up — it’s definitely on the higher end, and some of the dishes feel a bit overpriced, which makes it seem more about the hype than pure value. Still, the overall experience, atmosphere, and views make it worth visiting at least once. It’s a Maui classic and a must-do spot on the island for anyone who wants to enjoy a memorable meal in a stunning setting.

Just finished a 5 day trip to Maui w my wife and this was an absolute highlight. One of the tougher reservations to get, booked ours far in advance, expectations were high — i was worried. After eating here & experiencing the service, I now understand what the hype is about. You can see this isn’t just a restaurant , it’s an institution & has this refined confidence about them — been here for years, they have perfected the service & food offering. Complimentary valet, a beautiful private beach, and a great ratio of staff to guests. My wife, 25 weeks pregnant & eats plant based, had many options curated for her & i can genuinely say, being from California where vegan food is plentiful, she’s never had more options at a traditionally seafood heavy restaurant than she did at mamas. 3 different entree’s, custom & thoughtful adjustments — our server maile made us feel comfortable from the minute we sat down. The Maui onion tomato salad w/ the 18 year balsamic is something I’ll be making in the future as it was just simple & executed perfectly — again, refined confidence. I also got the octopus dish that was well seasoned and had bright flavors to it - would recommend. There was a hiccup in my wife’s entree & it was handled superbly — immediately took the dish back, expedited a new dish, and when it came out, they gave me a sauce to rewarm my meal as they saw i waited for my wife’s food to come out. Just awareness you don’t see that often. I got the stuffed amberjack w crab & lobster w macadamia hit crust and it just blew me away — simply the best. We had such a good time we bought a t shirt !

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ The Best Dining Experience of the Year From the moment we arrived at Mama’s Fish House, everything felt special. Valet parking was seamless, we were warmly greeted, and our hostess led us to a beautiful booth with a stunning ocean view. To celebrate our honeymoon, the restaurant even placed a personalized placard at our table — such a thoughtful touch. Despite being one of the busiest restaurants on the island, the atmosphere at our table was calm, relaxed, and perfectly timed. Drinks never sat empty, dishes arrived with precision, and if the staff felt rushed, we would have never known it. The service was flawless — warm, attentive, and truly seamless. The food? Absolutely spectacular. Every bite was fresh, creative, and perfectly prepared. From start to finish, you could tell this was fine dining at its peak, but still carried that casual, beachside warmth that makes it feel authentically Maui. Reservations are a must — we booked three months in advance, and it was more than worth it. Even though it took us an hour to drive there from where we were staying, I would happily make that drive every day if it meant dining here again. If you’re visiting Maui or have something special to celebrate, Mama’s Fish House is the place. This is the pinnacle of what dining should be: thoughtful, welcoming, delicious, and unforgettable. It’s not just a meal, it’s an experience I’ll remember for the rest of my life.

We had multiple friends recommend Mama’s when we said we were going to Maui. I was a little worried it might be overrated after seeing some comments on Facebook, but it was not overrated. I was contacted a couple days before the reservation to ask my husband’s name (so they could put it on the card on our table). There is mandatory valet parking. Every person that greeted us after valet congratulated us for our honeymoon. We were given a table right by the window with a stunning view. You are given bread & soup shot. For an appetizer, we ordered the crispy kanpachi collar. For entrees, we ordered the Mama's Ahi And Mahi-Mahi Curry & Hawaiian Kanpachi With Lobster And Crab In A Macadamia Nut Crust. We did not have any room for dessert. No, the food was not cheap, but it was absolutely delicious & is a lot of food. The waiter was so nice to take a few photos of us. The restaurant is also by a cute beach & we were able to see a sea turtle! I definitely would recommend Mama’s to anyone coming to Maui!

Spectacular on all levels. The views, the walk into the restaurant, the decor inside and of course the food and service was top notch. It was a meal of a lifetime and definitely an expensive but well worth it endeavor. Thank you for one of the best meals we have ever had.

I have no idea why this restaurant isn’t rated five stars already. What caught my attention right away was the incredible service—warm, friendly, and attentive to every detail. The staff made us feel welcomed like family. And then the food… absolutely out of this world. The Mahi Mahi curry and the Ahi with Charred pineapple was truly chef’s kiss. Easily the best meal I’ve had in Maui—flavorful, perfectly prepared, and unforgettable. After our meal, they surprised us with refreshing cold towels, which felt amazing, and even offered complimentary valet parking. What more can you ask for? This restaurant truly goes above and beyond.

Absolutely the best restaurant at Whaler’s Village. Great selection of fish and pork but the lobster is mouth watering delicious. Stopped by Hula Grill Kāʻanapali to catch the sunset and enjoy a drink and a bite. The vibe here is great — a big, lively restaurant that’s clearly very popular on the west shore of Maui. I ordered the ceviche and the fish & chips. The ceviche was fresh and tasty, but it’s a small portion, really just enough for one person. The fish & chips were okay, nothing particularly memorable. Overall, it’s a fun spot to grab a drink and some food while watching the sunset, but don’t come expecting an outstanding dining experience — the atmosphere is the main highlight here.

Service was quick and friendly. Our server was nice and we talked about our tattoos. No wait to get in. We had the kapulu joe which was a sweet pulled pork sandwhich and ahi poke bowl. Both were delicious. Prices were pretty reasonable. It is located at whaler's village so the area is pretty happening during the day. It was pretty relaxed vibe with live music playing cover songs on the ukulele. It is definately a good spot to stop and grab lunch if you are shopping in the village or coming g back from a fishing or snorkeling outing.

This is my fourth visit to Maui and each time I've made a trip to the Hula Grill for great meals either by myself or without others. This time I'm visiting while attending a women's conference close to the Hula Grill. We arrived in Maui on late Friday morning and headed over to the restaurant from the airport. I had a reservation for five, we had a wonderful lunch and lucky us, we were comped a wonderful Alaskan style dessert, delicious. This evening our group had grown to 10 and I booked the 5p time slot before realizing we would need an additional :30 - :45 minutes. So on our lunch break I drove over and spoke to the hostess re a later arrival and she said yes, we might have a short wait but ok. Around 5:15 p I received a text, then a call to confirm and I let them know we were on our way. A group of 5 in each car, our first group arrived about 5:30p and the others in our party were following. Our waiter Matty, appeared and took our order for drinks, then expressed concern about the other 5 in our group. His attitude became more edgy as the minutes went by, after :15 minutes 4 more arrived and Matty appeared relieved. Our remaining member arrived and full on service finally was underway. However the waiter attitude situation never really improved, such a disappointment. He needs to be consistent in his behavior as a server. Our final bill was over $1000 including tax and tip. The food was great, the atmosphere was excellent especially since most were first time diners @Hula Grill they were very happy. Maybe Matty was having an off-night because as we were taking photos he offered to take our group shots.

I tried everything on the table so here’s my extensive opinion 😂 Drinks: go for the mango mezcal cocktail, it’s the best. The lychee martini was very sweet so if you don’t like sweet go for something else! Very solid Caesar salad 👌 like a remarkably good Caesar salad. Seafood potstickers were better than the pork ones, both good but if you’re deciding between them go with the seafood ones. Pork was shredded just fyi! The salmon sashimi was melt in your mouth. Ahi steak was fantastic, as was the pork shank. Didn’t love the macadamia nut mahi mahi. Great atmosphere and always a good time!

As you see from one of my pictures there’s half cheeseburger, our waitress know what we was planning we picked one entree and one appetizer to share, I personally can’t eat much so I don’t like the feeling of overeating. So she asked us if we wanted the burger to be cuts in half and of course I said yes if that’s possible. I told our waitress that I don’t want cheese on the burger but it’s served with cheese but luckily I can scraped out pretty good from my burger, I’m not allergic to it I just don’t like the taste of the cheese. The Hula burger was really tasty.. we both really liked it, it was perfect! Coconut calamari was so so, not really a fan of it. Then we tried the Hula Pie, the Hula Pie was amazing! Our waitress was Amber F, at first impression she seems cold and a bit unfriendly but at the halfway through the end on our late lunch I found her she’s a sweetheart! Turns out I really happy and like her personality 🤙🏼

Overall: 2.5 Subpar, overpriced food. Solid service and atmosphere. Went twice since it was very close to where we were staying and that was plenty. Won't be back on our visit; too many other better places. Food: 2 stars. During our first visit, we had the lobster tails and broccolini, then had the hula pie. Lobster was good. Not a fan of the Hawaiian-style rice but was pretty standard. Broccolini had too much lemon flavor. Hula pie was 3.5 stars but not big on sweets, just had to try. In the 2nd visit, we tried the Thai chicken flatbread. It was very sweet and the chicken tasted like canned chicken with some fish flavor. Maybe fish was cooked along with canned chicken... not sure, but we sent back. Had cheeseburger with Caesar salad. Salad was actually very good. The crunchy stuff on top and their Caesar dressing was unique and very tasty. Burger tasted like spam and was very subpar. Drinks: 2 stars. Weak cocktails. Below average flavor. OK beer selection- lavaman was solid; one of Maui Brewing's best beers. Service: 4 stars. Waitress was on top of things. Didn't wait too long for anything. She was likeable and respectful. When we returned pizza in 2nd visit, they were very nice and understanding. Atmosphere: 4 stars. Live music was great first night: soothing classic songs, good voice and vibe; had a hula dancer. Music in 2nd visit was ok. Sunset over beach was very nice. They lit tiki torches around sunset also. Great vibe. Had bar and barefoot sand area. Didn't sit in main dining area. Not a lot of TVs to watch sports outside but not sure about in main dining area. Price: 2 stars. Overpriced even a bit for Hawaii.

Amazing food. Amazing scenery. This place is an absolute must while on the island! We called ahead and made reservations for 4, and we're able to get right in on time. It is right on the beach, so you get a great view of the ocean! Make sure to bring some sunglasses if you go during sunset because that sun gets brutal as it sets in the evening. Best fish and chips I have ever had (honestly). Also, the hula pie is an absolute must-have for dessert. It most definitely lives up to the hype! Parking is best if you go to the free parking at the shopping center just north 2 block. It's an easy walk, and you can stop at a few gift shops along the way.

Definitely should get the hula pie! I was happy with the cheeseburger and fries. The fish wasn't bad but tasted bland. Enjoyed the beachfront and even looking over the balcony, we found some nails and crabs on the rocks below which the kids loved! The staff was attentive and friendly. They have an interactive packet for the kids to color and then if they play bingo (find things around them) then they got a free Frisbee! It helped to keep them distracted and in their seats.

Sadly, this is one of those restaurants that used to be really good, great food, great service, etc. But now they just hustle you in and hustle you out. It has become so popular because of the amazing ocean and sunset views. I have always enjoyed the prime rib here, but it was so disappointing this time. Very dry and tasteless. The seafood special was good but not outstanding as it should be based on the pricing and the caliber of restaurant they are trying to be. Don't bother showing up without a reservation, the hostess will be rude and make it very clear she will not have room for you. I'm sorry to say, it's not worth a return trip for me.
David B — Google review
The fish tacos are exceptional, maybe the best I've had. Paired with a draft craft beer IPA made it even better. The Kimo's Baked fish with rice and macaroni salad was also excellent. And to top it off the Hula Pie was super yummy too. The hostess who seated us and our server were friendly and professional. Truly a 5 star experience.

This restaurant is situated on the popular Front Street, right on the water. Unfortunately, we got there after sunset and weren’t able to take in the views. At the time, the live vocalist was finishing up, around 8pm. He was very talented and showed real affection for the crowd. Not sure if that was just that night or if he’s always like that, but it was quite endearing. Our server was fun and friendly. The food was fresh. Taste wise, it was ok. Not great, just good, hence the 4 stars. The vibe was the most significant part here. With the waves crashing beside us, the beautiful music, the mix of customers, and outgoing staff, it’s a great spot to visit while on vacation. Try to get there while the sun is still up!

Choices were difficult to make as everything sounded so amazing! I ended up going with the burger as it gave me more options for adding extra sides. Everything was amazing, I sincerely was having trouble deciding which bite to choose next as all the flavors were delicious. Our waitress Michelle, was great and fun and fit our personalities. The view on the roof is fun and we unfortunately missed the opportunity to watch Mick Fleetwood actually play the day after our reservation! Oh, one more important think…. Book your reservation as soon as possible, they allow reservations one month ahead.

Killer spot. Excellent venue, incredible food. We didn’t have a reservation and waited 1 hour. Lots of bars within walking distance so no big deal. I ordered the roast chicken which was so moist! My partner ordered some fish dish which he enjoyed.

We had a phenomenal date night here. We came on Valentine’s Day, and had a reservation on the rooftop. Because of poor weather, there was no live music outside. Our waitress, Monica, was so amazing and found us a table inside so we could have our dessert with the music inside. I would absolutely come back!

Oh my gosh! Some of the best food I've ever tasted came from this restaurant. We made a reservation for happy hour and sat on the rooftop bar. Such a beautiful view and limited happy hour selection was perfect! The Fleetwood Mac n Cheese is to die for. The shrimp and oysters were delicious!! So glad we were able to get reservations!

Where to start? Had a wonderful experience celebrating our wedding anniversary dinner! Alissa our server was so nice, sweet and very efficient. Made an online reservation 1 month in advance for rooftop dining through opentable. Got in around 5:45 pm for the nighttime ceremony. They gave us complimentary glasses of champagne and a Happy Anniversary card. We had the chefs special for the night, which is shared by 2 people. It was a surf and turf special beef wellington wrapped in prosciutto, lobster, scallop, prawns with mashed potato and brussels sprouts. We also had a crab cake appetizers and drinks. Everything was on point from the ambiance, food and great customer service. I definitely recommend this place. They make you feel special.

Just had the most amazing dinner. Our server Travis and manager Brandy were great when they found out the original server had not come to our table for 15 minutes after being seated. Their customer service was outstanding! The food was very well prepared. Travis recommended the monchong and it was so tasty. My wife had the prawns and she adored them. One surprise-there is a bagpiper that plays for 20 minutes starting around 6pm. Very entertaining and he was the icing on top. Great experience and will cherish the memory of our meal!

Discover the magic of Maui's golden pineapples with a visit to the Haliimaile Pineapple Plantation. This working farm tour offers an eco-friendly experience where you can learn about the history, cultivation process, and final shipment of these delicious fruits. As you explore the picturesque Haliimaile farm in Maui's upcountry, you'll have the opportunity to taste pineapples at different stages of growth and take home a souvenir pineapple after the tour. The 1.
First, thank you for your driver named Moses. He is very great at his job. He knows how to drive and entertain his passengers. He is very safe at his driving, and he is very dedicated to his customers. He introduced us to the Maui Gold Pineapple Tour guide, and her name was Kennedy . She gave us a tour through the plant and a tour on the ground. Through the mini bus and she offered some pineapples to taste, which was awesome. Both team members are a blessing to me and the tour. Thank you so very much. God bless you and the team. You are doing an excellent job. Thank you for your time, talent, and energy. I appreciate and value the customer service that I received. Thank you for the teamwork, and the team is Together Everyone Achieves More.

Our tour guide was super informative and polite. Any questions we had he could answer. We got to see all stages of pineapple growth and processing. We even got to taste some fresh fruit and WOW was it good. How does a pineapple taste so much like a coconut?! The gift shop was cute and well thought out with conveniently placed hand washing stations and bathrooms. The restaurant on site was one of our favorite and definitely one we'll be back for. The food and drink was nothing but awesome and totally unexpected from a farm tour. You gotta try the pineapple upside down cake! It's drool worthy.

This pineapple tour was seriously one of the best things we did on Maui—a totally different vibe from just hopping beaches. We learned a ton about how they grow the Maui Gold pineapple, which was way more interesting than expected. Our guide was awesome and made the whole thing fun. Pineapple picked fresh right there is insane. It's the sweetest, juiciest we've ever tasted. If you're looking for a unique Maui experience that's both educational and delicious, book this tour!

We had a fantastic experience visiting the Maui Gold Pineapple plantation in Maui! Our guide, Rudy, was incredibly knowledgeable — his years of hands-on experience growing pineapples made the tour truly special. We learned so much about the process, from how many pineapples each plant produces to the best time for harvesting and what causes them to turn yellow. One of the highlights was getting to plant our own pineapples and sampling some of the fresh fruit — absolutely delicious! Rudy also shared fascinating stories about the history of the plantation and the surrounding area, which made the tour both educational and unique. We highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Maui. It’s a wonderful way to gain a deeper appreciation for this iconic island fruit and the people who grow it.

Farm tour was awesome. The tour guide was entertaining as well as educational in teaching us the laborious process to grow these delicious fruits. There are amazing views of the coast as the farm sits just at the edge of the rainforest. The pineapple is delicious, different from what we have at the grocery stores. The Maui soil and weather create so much more flavor and sweetness.
Tim L — Google review
This was advertised on my Facebook when we got to Maui so we decided to go and see what it was about and I’m so glad we did! It was one of the highlights of our trips to go see an actual pineapple farm. Kennedy was our tour guide and she was amazing! She gave us lots of information and even taught us how to try to grow a pineapple at home with easy steps. We also got to try fresh pineapple which is the most delicious pineapple I have ever had! You also get to take a pineapple home for each person that comes which they pack travel safe for the airport! We are going to order more pineapple from here because that’s how good it was! If you love pineapple then you have to go to this tour!
Ryan M — Google review
Excellent tour. The guide provided several pieces of pineapple from top, bottom and core of the fruit to allow you to tasted the sweeter bottom portion, the flavorful top portion and the less flavorful core. Two pineapples provided in a TSA approved to go box at end of tour was great.

Maui Gold Pineapple tour was such a great experience! Our tour guide, Kennedy, was extremely knowledgeable and very personable. The best part was we were each able to take home a delicious pineapple and had ZERO problems at the airport. The Maui Gold Pineapple store was stocked with tons of great souvenirs and treats to take back home, including hand crafted pineapple dog treats that our pups devoured! Will def be back!

Maui Tropical Plantation, located near Wailuku, is a 60-acre working farm that offers visitors an immersive experience in Maui's commercial crops. The plantation showcases a variety of fruits, herbs, and vegetables and provides tram tours through its field crops. Visitors can learn about the growth of sugarcane and pineapples while enjoying close-up views of flowers, plants, and fruit trees found in Hawaii.
This was our second visit- first was two years ago. This was a great tour for seniors who may have somewhat limited mobility (cane). Our tour guide was great- lots of great information, funny jokes, and interesting personal stories. I wish the tour were just a few minutes longer because I am sure there were more interesting things to hear! We enjoyed the farm/gift shop and purchased several items there. The grounds were beautiful with lots of varied tropical plants, flowers, and trees as well as ponds and architectural details. Just a great place to spend a hot afternoon in the shade and breeze!

The Maui Tropical Plantation tour was amazing! My kids and I gained a lot of interesting information, especially about coconuts, thanks to our very knowledgeable guide. The 45-minute tour offers comfortable seating, though the walking area is limited. While a bit pricey, the huge shop makes up for it with a ton of gift, veggie, and fruit choices at good prices, and the staff are super friendly. Plus, the Maui Zipline Company is conveniently located right there!

Lunch at the restaurant was FANTASTIC! Great farmers market type store. Our tour guide was great. We did this instead of the pineapple tour, manly because we heard the restaurant was great, and it was, but also because it was 1/4 the price of the other. The other tour would probably be “better” but this one was well worth the $25 (instead of $95)!

Beautiful spot to visit while in Maui! Walked around the plantation and really enjoyed the peaceful atmosphere and lush scenery. Had breakfast at the café — everything was fresh and tasty. Also loved browsing the gift shop, which had a great selection of local products and souvenirs. Definitely worth a stop if you're in the area!

Very cool quick little tour. Ocean was our tour guide and she was a great mix of informative and funny. There were a few places to shop and a restaurant as well, but we didn't have time to look through them.

Fun place to learn about the sugar plantations. Interning to see all of the plants and animals they have around. They also have a good restaurant and general store. The tram tour is pretty short but they did go through some interesting info not sure it worth the 25 a person though

Top reason to choose this excursion over the rest is good Hospitality❣️ Nate, Seth and Pono are incredible Zipline guides, because they each embody their own respectful characteristics. As a Team, they lead their tour with ease as they prepare you for each jump. I got a crash course on learning how to become a monkey and their skill combined with hysterical spirit lifted my nerves on every jump. I didn’t think I was walking into a comedic experience, but I left the tropical plantation smiling. The hospitality that I received from them wasn’t directly to me, but what caught my heart was seeing how they treat Mothers and children. Boys are not easy to raise; I don’t have one..I have a little girl and she’s cake 🎂 sweet and easy to make. Yet, each instructor taught a son about respecting their mom; which is what money can’t buy… character development for children is not sold in stores. It’s thru elders and experiences and I could see in this teenagers 👀 he wanted to be just as cool as them. Each guide stood their ground on their rules and morals and it was outstanding. The plantation is sacred, so take your time enjoying the bright gardens and humongous trees while feeding the ducks 🦆 and when your feeling hungry 🤤 they have the answer for that too at their restaurants.
Jacqueline W — Google review
The waiter and food was excellent. The place closes at 2:20 pm for lunch. Don't make reservations at 2:30pm. Open Tabe has to offer the time. However the morning staff in the kitchen along with the 2 hosteres make us feel unwelcome. The waiter was excellent. He had several interesting stories. The food was also excellent. This was my first time there fot lunch. I had been there for dinner. There's a tram tour thought the plantion.Reservations are recommended. There a ticket booth they I believe sell tickets. We got out tickets beforehand.

Such a great beach. Wasn’t too crowded. Soft sand in and out of the water. Little lava fields at both ends that attract fish and turtles for snorkeling. The waves are flat and great for swimming, not so good for anything else. Very calming and relaxing and peaceful. No shade so bring your own.
TheDoug801 — Google review
Beautiful! Absolutely beautiful. This was our favorite part of our stay. My son played in the waves for hours. We had to pull him away each time. The waves can really get wild, so be careful and keep an eye on little ones, no lifeguard here. We went in August and it was quite hot, hitting 90s each day and the sun is intense. Be prepared with preferably some shade to take a break and sunscreen, of course.

Nice beach small waves good for lounging maybe snorkeling but not much boogie boarding.

Stunning picturesque beach with ample parking, showers, and powdery sand. Not a lot of natural cover for shade so come prepared. Go early for calmer waves and a chance to see sea turtles, crabs, and fish. Waves pick up noticeably in the afternoon.

NICKS FISHMARKET is an upscale seafood restaurant located in the Fairmont Kealani Maui, offering a lush garden setting and a seafood-driven menu. The restaurant features a curved granite bar, glass wine display, and Mediterranean-inspired details that exude elegance. However, the interior decor with ocean-themed fabric upholstery and shell-shaped lighting fixtures may appear slightly outdated. One of the prominent attractions is an 800-gallon fish tank that adds to the ambiance.
The restaurant is set in a beautiful hotel garden right next to a small, peaceful beach. I recommend coming around sunset, it’s the perfect time to enjoy the view. The cocktails and food were amazing, especially the Nick’s Sunset, a tropical fruit juice and rum blend. The seafood tower was also great, with a nice variety of fresh seafood. I wouldn’t recommend the scallops, they were overly salty. The strawberries Panzin dessert didn’t stand out in flavor, but it was creative and visually impressive, perfect for a date night.

Nick's Fish Restaurant provided the perfect backdrop for our anniversary celebration. We were so happy with our experience! The atmosphere was lovely, and we were seated at a fantastic table. The service was outstanding; our server was attentive, knowledgeable, and made us feel truly special throughout the evening. And the food! Everything we ordered was fresh, expertly prepared, and delicious. The 'Diver Scallop & Shrimp Scampi' and 'Moroccan Spiced Salmon' were a highlight. Not to forget the Crème Brûlée! Overall, we had an awesome anniversary night thanks to the wonderful staff, great food, and beautiful setting. A five-star dining experience we wholeheartedly recommend for any special occasion.

Excellent seafood and even the Filet Mignon was great. The steak had great flavor and was very tender. Staff had no issues substituting side dishes. The atmosphere is great and most seats have a view of the pool area and ocean.

I would say I’m a little disappointed in this place based on how much the bill was. The lamb chops were absolutely phenomenal, however, the filet was a little disappointing. The filet was a bit dry and simply nothing special. Also, the service was a bit too slow for my tastes. It was around 15 mins after we were seated that our server came over to greet us and there was a noticeable wait for food and drinks to arrive at the table. It’s not our servers fault as it seemed that he was running around all night with all of his different tables. But my last impression of this place was their macadamia nut brownie sunday and let me tell you that it made it all worth it!

My husband and I came to Nick's twice on our Trip to Maui. Everything we ordered was great - Mahi Mahi, waygu beef, crab cakes, potstickers. The first night, our server forgot us a few times, but the second time we went, our server was amazing. She took the time to chat with us and recommended some great spots on the Island (I think her name was Kiara). Would recommend!

Ho'okipa Beach Park is a spacious state park and surfing spot with a beautiful white sand beach, picnic areas, and pavilions. It's located along Hana Highway and is famous for windsurfing and contemporary surfing. Visitors can watch surfers from the Hookipa Lookout or enjoy the beach where Hawaiian green sea turtles often come to rest on the shore.
Cool beach to watch the surfers and the wind surfers. Less so for swimming. The bonus as you get to see lots of sea turtles. Nobody follows the rules and doesn’t keep a 10 foot distance as they should even though the section is cordoned off. So sad to see that people can not read simple instructions. Well worth going to this cool beach. Free parking and lots of locals so it must be good right?!
Samir B — Google review
Good parking and nice to sit and watch the surfers. It’s beautiful to look at because of the turtles and the ocean! But it is not a swimming beach. And it is good for surfing only if you are a well-seasoned surfer. Lots of rocks at the shore!
Rovi B — Google review
Beautiful beach to see the sea turtles, watch surfers in action and just enjoy what the ocean has to offer. A little too rough for snorkeling or a relaxing dip, but fun for buggie boarding and offers a pretty view for the sunset.
Arielle P — Google review
Great beach. The ability to stay up top or go down on the beach is really nice. There are showers here. There are lots of surfers and people who know where they are going and what they're doing. Still great to visit and just chill.

Very strong winds!! Amazing views of powerful waves. Lots of surfers and other water activities. Popular area! And the best part of it all... Numerous sea turtles enjoying the warm sun in the late afternoon into the evening on the beach! A must visit if in Maui!

Good parking, easy to walk down. We went just to see the turtles resting on the beach which was easy because there are a ton just laying there plain to see. Photos are good to take and the beach looked clean although we didn’t go on it. Not much else to say, but it is cool to see all the turtles just hanging out if you’re in the area.
Amber L — Google review
Nice long park along the ocean with some beach but the environment lends itself to attract the surfing crowd. Lot of boards and windsurfing taking place with a pretty consistent surf coming off the windward side of Maui. There are bathrooms and shelters available from the sun. The park is right outside Paia at the start of the Road to Hana. Plenty of parking if the beach area is not overly crowded. Enjoy the experience!

Kapalua Bay Beach is a serene and picturesque spot located on the northwest side of Maui. The crescent-shaped cove is known for its tranquil waters, making it an ideal location for snorkeling and scuba diving. Visitors can expect to encounter a variety of marine life, including sea turtles, parrotfish, and moray eels. The beach's golden sands, swaying palm trees, and coral reefs add to its natural beauty.
This was by far the nicest beach for us. It was beyond beautiful. The snorkeling was safe and rewarding. Lots of sea life like eels, turtles, and a variety of fish. The water was warm and turquoise blue. Plenty of sand to call home for the day. Close bathrooms, showers. There are some paid parking spots available close by. There is also paid parking across the street @ $10 for 3 hours or $15/day. You pay with your smartphone.

A pristine beach with breathtaking views! There are day use rentals & great shore snorkeling with a variety of fish, coral and several large sea turtles. Parking ranges from $18-$20 if there’s no free street parking-it’s a paved five minute path to the beach with nice permanent restrooms with outdoor running water to clean your Sandals etc Definitely check it out!

Great beach! Seemed like parking could be tight but never had a problem because we got there in the morning. I swam a couple of times out here with my 8 y/o son and the waves never got very big compared to other beaches we went to. Saw a lot of fish especially along the one side of the bay where there was a lot of coral that hadn't been trampled on
Ryan F — Google review
Very nice beach with excellent snorkeling. Decent amount of parking, but it can fill up toward the middle of the day so I’d recommend coming earlier rather than later. Street parking is free if you can find a spot, and the parking lot is pretty expensive at $33 for a day pass (the only option). The Kapalua Coastal Trail starts here as well and is an extremely nice out-and-back trail that follows the pacific coast. Very nice bathroom that is well-maintained and clean. This is a must-visit spot if you are in the area.
Casey L — Google review
Beautiful little beach, easy access, expensive parking. You have to pay for a day pass, with tax is over $30. We hung out for several hours and had a great time, felt like it was worth it. I snorkeled the whole bay, saw several turtles, a ton of fish, an eel, and supposedly someone saw an octopus. My kids played in the sand and the waves. Plenty of nice beach for them without coral or lava rock too close to tear them up. Just out from the beach there is lots of coral for exploring. Really cool spot. It was pretty crowded when we go there, but it cleared out when it rained (I didn’t even know it was raining because I was snorkeling lol). We will probably go back here if in the area.
Aaron D — Google review
Further north along the coast of Maui sits Kapalua Bay, a beautiful bay with a nice but small beach and decent snorkeling options. The journey to the beach was a bit long as parking is a bit of a walk out and even more so if you choose not to pay for parking (we are cheap so we didn’t). The walk itself is pretty and the path is nice with a wash off area included at the entrance point where there are bathrooms as well. The beach itself is on the smaller side than others so finding a spot may take an early arrival or patience as a whole. The water is clear although when we went further out the visibility was not as good as it was the days prior at Black Rock Beach. As for snorkeling specifically, the fish variety was alright and the lower visibility, although not terrible, certainly didn’t grant as much fun as we had hoped. Unfortunately as mentioned before, if the snorkeling isn’t good then there isn’t much else going for the beach as it is a bit smaller and crowded. If we had to label it as something we would call it more of a lounging beach, a relaxing place to enjoy the view and waves. We could have just had bad luck with snorkeling that day so that’s something to note as others may have had a different experience. Nevertheless, it’s a beach. Go out and enjoy the waves!
Amber L — Google review
We got a condo down in Kihei - about 40 minute drive to this beach - and ended up on this beach 3 out of the 8 days we were here as this is the best beach we've gone to! It being a bay is very safe, the beach is great for kids to play in, and snorkeling is phenomenal. We recommend that you don't park in the lot by the beach - 40.00 bucks I think, but try to find a spot along the road right next to the lot OR park at the tennis courts above the road where parking is 15 for the whole day. Definitely a beach worth a try!
Petar V — Google review
Beautiful snorkeling! One of the most beautiful beaches in the world. Soft golden sand. Clear blue green water. Beautiful, colorful fish, including large parrot fish, surgeon fish, and puffer fish. We also saw one spot butterfly fish, banded wrasses, box fish, a large school of white fish, a needle fish, ornate butterfly fish, Sargent fish, damsel fish, pink sea urchins, Black Sea urchins, puffy red urchins, and a sea turtle. There were a few still living corals, too.

We experienced the chefs table here. Which was very cool. Sit at bar table off the chefs area. Watch them work and pre pare the food. They are a very well-oiled machine. The head chef came over numerous times to check on us chat and was super friendly. We had a six course meal that the head chef set up. You can opt to pair wines. The food was amazing. Definitely give this a try for something a little more personal or intimate.

Nestled a few miles east of the luxurious resorts in Kapalua, Honolua Bay is a hidden gem that captivates both locals and visitors alike. This pristine bay, flanked by dramatic jade cliffs, offers an idyllic escape into nature. Known for its exceptional snorkeling during the summer months and challenging surf breaks in winter (ideal for advanced surfers), Honolua Bay is designated as a Marine Life Conservation District.
No passes, tours, or reservations needed. Stop at the overlook to get a great view and check the conditions. There are no amenities aside from porta-potties in the parking area. We parked roadside and walked through the forest path with lush tropical foliage and roaming chickens. The water is clear and beautiful. Note that the beach is made of large slippery rocks and a dilapidated boat ramp, so it takes some balance and coordination just to get into the water safely. Once you get into the water it is not a difficult swim. The water was calm on the August day we visited. Bring your own snorkel gear and swim to the right of the bay from the beach, until you find the large reefs. We saw an amazing assortment of fish of all colors and sizes, colorful coral, and sea urchins (don't touch or step on them). We met a sea turtle near the reef. Use sun protection. Best snorkeling spot we've found in Maui so far!

Wonderful snorkeling with gorgeous fish, eels, sea turtles, and Spinner dolphins! Great views from several overlooks and highway 30 hugging the western shore of Maui.
Jason R — Google review
Beautiful bay - but mainly only used to snorkel and see the fish! You need to park along the highway (there are some sections to park) and walk down a path. There are two paths that lead you to the same place. It said that it was closed off, but I think it was more meant for vehicles; you can walk past the gate. Also, note that there is no sand - it's all rocks and a little hard to walk on, and the rocks in the water is slimy, so be careful. But, overall, it's a wonderful place to snorkel. There's a lot of fish and no waves. We just went by ourselves (no tour) and snorkeled with regular swimming goggles!
David N — Google review
Rocky beach, but amazing snorkeling place. Clear and calm water, chicken running around in the background. we snorkeled for 2 hours. Saw a lot of colorful fishes, tons of reefs, even an octopus!!
JW — Google review
Wonderful place to snorkel. There is no cost to park or snorkel. A varity of fish are present on the northside. A short walk through a beautiful jungle-like forest is an added bonus. The beach is larger rocks with no sand areas. Be careful when entering and exiting the bay. The rocks, as mentioned in other reviews, are slippery. No lifeguard on duty. Porta-potties are available but not very clean or maintained.
S. S — Google review
Very nice place for snorkelling, but be careful, not easy access to get in the water and strong currents. Nice walk to the beach! Toilets are not great but are available.
Sarah R — Google review
Gorgeous. Come early if you need to park, and it's a really cool walk through the "Enchanted Forest" getting down to the shore. In fact, you'll wonder if you're headed in the right direction after a while, but keep going. I'd hesitate to call it a beach as you're going to be hanging out on stones that would make the beaches of Nice jealous. But you came for the snorkeling, right? Get out there - you won't be disappointed. Say hey to "Uncle Jimmy" (and contribute $$). Also, don't leave any food out or your camp will be attacked by dinosaur descendants.
Michael P — Google review
This is one of the best Snorkel spots on Maui. It's a bit of the main resort areas but worth the drive. Street parking us limited and you'll have to do a short hike though lush tropical vegetation that feels like it is straight out of Jurassic Park. The beach is rocky and the best part of the reef is out about 500 feet and to the right once you are in the water. If you are up to putting in the effort you might be rewarded with hundreds of fish of every variety,, a half dozen turtles, a colorful reel, eel, octopus and the occasional barracuda or shark. Also nice if you just want to go for a short hike!

The Old Lahaina Courthouse is a cream-colored, Greek Revival building with a terra cotta tile roof. Originally constructed in 1860 as the Lahaina Court and Customs House, it played a significant role in Hawaiian history. In 1898, the American government annexed Hawaii at this location. Today, after being renovated in 1998, the building houses the Lahaina Visitor Center and the Lahaina Heritage Museum.
Small museum but rich in history. I loved the banyan trees in front of it! It’s worth coming here to learn more about the native culture.
Kahikina — Google review
The old Lahaina Courthouse turned into a museum is a nice and quick stop after visiting the Banyan tree. It houses some culturally significant items from Hawaii's past and showcases the history of the islands in a compact format. A must do in Lahaina if you are a museums/culture person - hardly takes 30 minutes or so. The gift store is nice too.
Saurabh C — Google review
The Lahaina Visitors Center has closed. The historic exhibits in the halls and museum are still open. Beautiful views of Lahaina Harbor and of the Lahaina Banyan Tree from upstairs 🌺
Robin R — Google review
Small museum and visitor center in the main street of Lahaina. The museum is small and shows some old artifacts used by the native Hawaiians, tools used in the whaling era and the furniture used back when the building was used as a courthouse. There's no entrance fee but they have a donation box to help maintain the museum. IMO wouldn't call it a must-see destination when visiting Maui, but wouldn't hurt to visit it if you are around the Front Street in Lahaina.

The Son'z Steakhouse offers an elegant and luxurious setting for dining, complete with swan-populated pond. The wide variety of seafood and American steaks on the menu will have your taste buds singing merrily all night long! Tables can be reserved in advance, making this a perfect spot for a special occasion.
The view and atmosphere were wonderful with the pond, ducks, and swans as entertainment. The netting ensures the birds are unable to interrupt an outstanding steak dinner. I had the strip and my wife enjoyed the filet. Both were tender and juicy cooked exactly to the temperature we requested. Service was attentive and made the night special.
Gene R — Google review
This is definitely a unique place to eat at. I loved sitting by the water 💦 and enjoyed eating dinner with friends. It is small so reservations are almost a must. You should either get them morning of or the day before if you can. Any group of six or more and they place an automatic tip. The food did take a hot minute to come out and they gave us the wrong order for dessert 😂. But since we were easy going and the dessert was awesome we didn't mind. No need to make fuss if it doesn't matter. I ordered the lobster ravioli and my wife got the catch if the day. We both normally will try each other's dish but we gobbled our dishes down respectfully without time to share🤣. No need to say that the food was awesome, it was spectacular! The reasons for four stars instead of five is that the service was slow as dirt, they did get our dessert wrong, and it is very expensive.
Casey S — Google review
Amazing restaurant with an overall excellent level of service and cuisine. The ambiance is what you would expect from a Maui resort as well. I had a Mai Tai and that baby was tasty and STRONG! We had top tier mushrooms and truffle fries. The wagyu steak was 9/10. A bit more gristle than I would have liked, but still delicious. Lamb was also very good.
Frank A — Google review
Son’z Steakhouse is located inside the Hyatt Regency Resort and Spa. We truly enjoyed the atmosphere which includes a beautiful waterfall, swans and ducks gracefully swimming outside an inconspicuous wire netting that you barely know is there. The atmosphere is very romantic regardless of if you are dinning for breakfast or dinner. The best part about this dining experience is hands down the atmosphere. The service is also amazing, actually one of the best I have had. The staff are very attentive and are wonderful. We would definitely give breakfast a consistent 5 stars. Dinner was very good. We had the lamb, Brussels spouts, and salad. They have a great menu but it is a bit pricey. We spent over 300 dollars for the meal not including dessert and with 2 drinks. Breakfast with our package ran us 98 dollars a day for 2 people. Overall wonderful experience!!!!

Amazing location on a private lagoon with beautiful lighting during sunset. The food was fantastic and drinks were great but it was certainly all elevated by the amazing Maui atmosphere. Highly recommend checking this out for the steaks and vibe.
Jesse W — Google review
It was beautiful. Steak and lobster 'A+', wine list 'A', Brussels sprouts 'D', twice baked potatoes 'B', the restaurant opens to outside pool with swans. Gorgeous but too hot the night we went.
Ken K — Google review
The service and food was amazing! We have two toddlers (2 &3). We were seated right near the water, it was beautiful. The waiters brought coloring pages and were very understanding and kind with our children. The ambiance is very romantic, if I had known, I would have gotten a sitter! The restaurant is beautiful, the food was impeccable, the drinks were flavorful. Highly recommend for families or a special date night! Unfortunately, I don’t think I got any photos.

Baldwin Beach Park, located near Historic Paia Town on Maui's North Shore, is a picturesque and family-friendly beach destination. The long stretch of golden sand and palm trees offers a peaceful retreat away from the crowded beaches of Maui. While swimming conditions can be windy, there is a protected cove on the east end and a saltwater lagoon on the west end, making it suitable for families with kids.
Fantastic Sandy Beach with rolling crashing waves.. Great for your boogie board.. or for a nice long walk in the surf. I was just there on a Friday afternoon and there was lots of people playing volleyball. There was a large group of about 35 people playing the drums.. it was quite enthralling to watch. Eventually, a large throng of people started to show up dancing up a storm.. I left when the sun was going down.. I guess that's when most people were showing up.. it could have been quite a party.. The parking area was over full and there were 50 plus cars that were on the highway.. So if you like to party on Friday nights on the beach.. this might be the place. It seems quite calm the rest of the time.

Beautiful beach and they’re turtles here. I had to zoom in on the pictures so I wouldn’t disturb them. There’s plenty swimming nearby also. They have sun tanning lotion by the restroom too.

PROS: - Restrooms & showers - Lots of parking - You still get nice sunset views & colors over the West Maui Mountains CONS: - Typically windy north shore weather - Water is choppy and full of currents - Not great for swimming - Erosion has swallowed up the beach and pavilion

Makena Landing Park is an oceanfront park in Wailea, offering a sandy beach and various water activities such as snorkeling, diving, and kayaking. It is known for its excellent snorkeling spots like Turtle Town, where you can observe Hawaiian green sea turtles in their natural habitat. The area between Nahuna Point and Black Sand Beach is home to over a dozen turtles, with some congregating at a cleaning station called 'The Car Wash.'
Accidentally came across this place during my one day quick south island , and was amazed by how casual and local spot it is to snorkel and chill. It was a Sunday afternoon and parking is not crowded, I was looking for a safe and local spot for a quick snorkeling, here it is! I came across a turtle and several groups of scuba divers. Definitely a great shore diving spot worth exploring more if time allows.

5/5 great spot. Waves weren’t too crazy even though wind was picking up and we saw turtles while snorkeling!! Two!! Awesome little area although parking is limited.

Did a kayaking excursion with the family to snorkel with sea turtles. We went on a beautiful day. The turtles were everywhere and the whole thing was very fun. Highly recommend scuba or snorkeling out here to see some marine life in crystal clear water.
Olliver T — Google review
Views were amazing, sand was soft, surf was a bit strong but still worth the visit. Keep in mind that the Cinder trail is not maintained so it's almost impossible to reach the cone and because the small beach is more remote, you're likely spot nude swimmers and sunbathers.

10/10 there was a sea turtle in the water with us & honestly that’s all that matters! Easy snorkeling & calm swimming for kiddos too

Cool little spot to snorkel. Small beach to access the water. The snorkeling was fine, not a lot to see at least on the day we went, but the clarity was good and lots of rock to swim around and there were a couple turtles. There's an outside shower to rinse off. I didn't use the restrooms

The West Maui Mountains or West Maui Volcano as given by the native Hawaiian people is Mauna Kahalewai which means holding house of water. Kahalawai Volcano is a spiritual location known as the quietest location on earth. Considered by those who live in the area as a location that recharges the sole and body. On a clear moonless night the millions of stars that are above light the area to the point were you do not need a artificial light to see. Remember never remove lava rock from any part of the Hawaiian Islands because this is bad luck. No Joke.

The Haleakala Observatory, located at the 10,010-ft. summit of Haleakalā, offers breathtaking panoramic views and is the first astronomical research observatory in Hawaii. While not open to the public, visitors can still admire its otherworldly landscape during the day and witness a stunning night sky after dark. The drive up to the summit is an experience in itself, with changing climates and ecosystems along the way.
We drove all the way to the top. But if you have time, there are plenty of nice hiking opportunities. You can purchase entry tickets online or at the counter. Make sure you dress up properly. It is chilly and windy at the top.

Great views and experience. We did the morning sunrise view and it was truly magical - need to prebook parking quite in advance, check the site. - also need to buy a park entry ticket when you drive in. - drive is extremely windy and steep. And if going for morning drive - very dark with little lighting. Was warned some animals may appear too. - also very cold, bring blankets and warm clothing

Breathtaking Sunset Above the Clouds 🌤️ Watching the sunset from Haleakalā Observatory is truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience. The views are nothing short of breathtaking – seeing the sun dip below a sea of clouds from such a high elevation is surreal and unforgettable. That said, be prepared: the temperatures at the summit are surprisingly cold, even in Hawaii, so bring layers. We waited in line for over 30 minutes to get in, and parking was hectic with so many people trying to find a spot. The drive itself isn’t for the faint of heart – narrow winding roads with steep drop-offs can be intimidating, especially for novice drivers or those with vertigo. But once you’re there, every challenge fades away. Standing above the clouds as the sky turns vibrant shades of red and gold is magical. Despite the crowds and logistics, it’s absolutely worth the effort.

Mt. Haleakala Sunrise was Magical. My wife and I made the early morning drive from Kanapali Beach and would recommend everyone put this on their bucket list. The viewing areas are at over 10k feet, so you are above the clouds. The Colors you see when the Sun rises makes the drive worthwhile. 🌅

Target is a beloved retail chain that offers an extensive range of products, from home goods and clothing to electronics and exclusive designer collections. Recently opened in Maui, this clean and well-organized store features a spacious parking lot surrounded by beautifully landscaped areas. It's the perfect spot for tourists looking to stock up on essentials during their stay, with a fantastic selection of local foods—especially macadamia nuts!
Although Target is clean and neat, their policies are the worst! Here are a few I encountered this past week: I ordered a special gift box on my shampoo/conditioner. It was on sale for 50% off so I ordered 3 gift boxes. They arrived today damaged. All three boxes were leaking conditioner. At customer service, I showed them the damage and asked them to reorder. Because the item is no longer on sale I would have to pay full price plus shipping AGAIN! My only options was a refund or keep the damaged gift boxes. No offer to adjust the price or to exchange out the damaged bottles. Also this week a special on $100 Apple gift card purchase came with a free $15 Target gift card. Then I saw the charge on my creditcard. I was charged for the free gift card. They didn’t apply it to my purchase. I’d say that’s stealing, unethical, sneaky, and customer service was no help. This is my last with Target. I’ll stick with Amazon and free shipping and no question returns. This is an update to my previous one star review above. I recently bought an item from the shelving department. The box was trashed so I returned it in a plastic bag and the star of this review at customer service said no problem! She checked to see if there were more in stock and asked another employee to get it since I couldn’t reach it the first time. I waited about 15 minutes and that lady brought it to me. The paperwork work was already done so I was out the door. What an exceptional customer service agent. She had it all figured out to make me a happy customer and proceeded to do just that. I don’t have my receipt but if you could find out her name, I’d like to know it. My experience was a 10/10. She deserves a raise or promotion or both. I’m a target believer!

Also looked through women's clothes and accessories yesterday in my local Maui Target store. Women's clearance section in the back corner was extremely messy and totally unacceptable. Disorganized, disheveled hanging clothes racks. Stained items. There were piles of loose clothes and hangers on top of and underneath all of the hanging racks and on the floor in the area. Better quality, more effective hangers with grooves, hooks or clips (like regular hangers!) need to replace their current version. The proof of their inefficiency is obvious. I felt compelled to take and share photos of this mess. The staff members or managers who are assigned or responsible for that section should be retrained, reprimanded, or terminated immediately. It actually made me feel ashamed and embarrassed as a loyal customer who has recommended this store for several years. I'll recommend Walmart, Foodland grocery stores, and local retail businesses to visitors for their shopping more frequently instead.
Honu53 — Google review
I was fortunate enough to receive an invitation to their preview night (3.3.15) by a friend, thus avoiding maddening crowds on public opening day of 3.4.15. THE STORE: Maui's first Target boasts a Starbucks, Pizza Hut Express with a small seating area with views of the front parking lot, and pharmacy. The overall layout is easy to navigate with wide aisles and lots of checkout stands. The grocery and household goods sections which are what I'm most interested in, far exceeds their competitor's offerings by a big margin. My long hunt for a decent-looking indoor trash can has finally ended. The meats, fruits, and veggies all looked fresh and were priced very competitively or cheaper than supermarkets. And best of all? The majority of things were cheaper here than at Wally's. Score! The electronics department was well organized, especially the DVD's and Bluray's. No piles to rummage though, only neat-looking racks. Yes! They do have a tiny garden section, no plants, just a few tools and fertilizers. The pet section was okay. The variety of leashes and collars were on the small side but the food was plentiful. No fish for sale. TIP: They sell Papyrus-brand cards! OVERALL: A great addition to Maui's market, but I find myself at Walmart more as they have everything I need and then some.
Maui T — Google review
Nice well stocked Target with a great food section. Don't forget to pick up a few cat treats for our many feral Maui kitties.
Blue F — Google review
Make sure if you shop the sales rack that they mark things correctly. Found numerous “sales” that were marked for all sizes that then when I checked out they said was a mistake on their part. They will not honor ticket prices even if it the sale sticker is physically attached to the item. If you ask them to they will ignore you for 15 minutes and then say “no we don’t honor things for our mistakes”. Staff on floor is fantastic- just the front end are miserable to deal with!

Raynette, at the customer service desk is a HUGE asset to this Target team. She was so helpful with my return and pick up items. I had a large order and she made sure I got everything. Thank you so much for helping me today!!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Costco Wholesale is a members-only warehouse offering a wide range of products, from bulk groceries to electronics. It's a convenient stop near the airport for stocking up on essentials before heading to your accommodation. With a membership, you can purchase organic produce, local specialties like Kalua pig, and even souvenirs such as ukuleles and macadamia nuts. The store also features a food court with delicious options like fried chicken and pizza.
Lots of Hawaiian themed items at this Costco, but we came for the cheapest lunch on Maui, a $1.50 hotdog. Never disappoints! Goes great with a check bake. Crazy price on Wagyu steaks! Too rich for my blood!

This Costco is conveniently located right next to Maui OGG Airport, about 2 miles. I stopped by to stock up on food for my seven-day trip and found a great selection, including plenty of Hawaii-themed chocolates and other local treats. I also filled up my gas tank before returning my rental car. If you're staying in an Airbnb or Vrbo, I highly recommend picking up your food and drinks here, as grocery store prices in Maui tend to be a bit higher compared to Costco. There's also plenty of parking available.

Nestled in the heart of Central Maui, ʻĪao Valley State Monument is a stunning 4,000-acre paradise that beckons nature lovers and history enthusiasts alike. After enjoying a leisurely breakfast in Lahaina, visitors can embark on an easy half-mile hike through this lush valley, where they’ll be greeted by breathtaking views of the iconic Iao Needle.
'Īao Valley is clearly so much more than just a park; it's a place that feels genuinely special. What's so moving is how it connects the story of its incredible geological formation with the deep cultural heritage of the people who cherish it. It’s not a huge area to cover, but the beauty packed into it is profound. It’s definitely an iconic place that commands respect. Just be prepared: you really do need to be mobile, as there are a lot of stairs to climb to experience it fully.

This state park is breathtakingly beautiful and packed with history. The parking situation is good and leaves you steps from the main trails that allow you to see both The Needle and water flowing down the valley. Staring up at the mountains above you and down the valley is a spectacular view full of photo opportunities. The Needle towers as a standout spot along the trail and the Botanical Trail takes you through a pretty area with native plants that allow you to feel like you’re in a surreal setting. Be warned: the trails are very short so don’t expect a real hike or to be there for too long, but do expect a luscious and photogenic activity.

State park with some short, easy walking paths. Made a reservation online in advance; note that they don’t accept the National Park pass since it’s a state park. Reservations are required and you pay for parking at that point as well. It’s a beautiful park and the hike up to see the Needle is short, albeit a tad steep. Be careful on the stairs coming down, as my boyfriend twisted his ankle while coming down. We went at 9am to try to beat the cloud cover and other tour buses coming in. I’d recommend accounting for 2 hours here, though you can certainly spend more time if you’re looking to meditate or explore deeply.
Shanelle S — Google review
Easy to get to. Not very amazing compared to all the stuff to see in this island. But it’s ok. Pro tip: Buy entry and parking online beforehand. But what the web doesn’t tel you is you can park for free; you just have to walk about 5 minutes more. Up a little hill though. So depends how energetic you feel. It’s a very, very short little walk through this park up a path to get to the view of the needle. Paved. Some short stairs. No problem. And then that’s the main attraction. Plus you get a view of the park below. There are a few more small paths but it’s really quite small. I think they call it a botanical garden, unless there’s another one that I missed. This was a 30 minute visit for us.

Myself and my Partner visited the Iao Valley States park in May 2024 whilst we stayed in Maui. We cannot recommend this place enough photos just do not do it justice, you need to see it the flesh. The needle like peek looks amazing in the flesh and it's just a short walk from the parking lot. There is lots of little trails along the river with lots of little water falls and plenty plants and wildlife to marvel at. There is plenty of parking, restrooms and tables to eat snaks, i don't think there is a souvenir shop. Even the journey in was beautiful, the view back out the valley. Visited here as part of a tour so we didn't get long to explore, would have loved to have spent longer so we could do more of the trails. So if you visit Maui you must put Iao Valley on your bucket list of places to see, if I return to maui I would come here agia. Steve and Jacqui fae Fife

The ʻĪao Valley State Monument is a beautiful and peaceful place surrounded by lush rainforest and steep green cliffs. 🌿 The short trail to the ʻĪao Needle offers great views and easy access for all ages. We had expected to do a longer hike, but that’s not possible here — the trail is quite short. Still, it’s worth visiting for the stunning scenery and rich Hawaiian history.
Daniela H — Google review
Very beautiful and worth visiting, given quite easy to access and provides a great change of scenery to the other parts of Maui. Can do a few short walks up the river, with opportunities to swim in the water. Make sure to book reservation spot online beforehand (did a few hours before on an August day)
Jamie C — Google review
You must make reservations in advance. They won’t let you in. Park very clean, little hike with stairs but you can park the stroller before the stairs. 2 year old can do all the steps. Humit and frw mosquitos but not cold. Very tropical view. There is also a river you can touch the water. August 2025 restrooms were close but they have de portable ones. Not too crowed. They let us go in even though it wasn’t our time frame reservation

Black Sand Beach, located in Waianapanapa State Park near the town of Hana, is a popular attraction for visitors. The beach features black volcanic sand and offers a unique and untamed beauty. In addition to the striking black sand, the park also boasts seabird colonies, lava tubes, blowholes, freshwater caves, and a natural stone arch.
The Black Sand Beach is such an amazing experience. Get there at the start of your reservation to truly enjoy the entire time. The waves were crazy the second time we were there so we only went in a little. The short hikes are fun and give you a great view that is unbeatable.
John S — Google review
Visiting Black Sand Beach didn't meet my expectations. We had reservation in advance and were running a little late due to full road closure in two locations on the road to Hana that added 1 hour to our trip. We arrived 20 mins into our reserved time and had a hard time finding a parking. Despite notices about reservation time being for 2 hours only, nobody checks or enforces it, so during the day it's getting crazy. Park employees couldn't be any more rude. They showed with every part of their body how much they hate tourists, their job and everything else... Black sand beach area is very small. It's probably the smallest beach I have ever seen. It gets very overcrowded making this experience not very enjoyable. Waves are rough and swimming is dangerous. Waves can wipe you from your feet in a moment. In fact, a child almost lost his life in front of crowd. If not a stranger and child's mom who run into the water in a moment, the end of that story would be very sad. You cannot swim or snorkel there, just get into the water. Black sand is more like small rocks, not your typical sand. It is pretty and different, but way overrated.
Ana S — Google review
Great place, trails over rocks add some adventure. Reservation is required. If you just want the beach and have time to island hop, Punaluu Beach in the big island is probably better.
Luis D — Google review
A black sand beach complete with green turtles? What's not to love? I was so happy to visit this beach that had turtles right at the shore to observe (from at least 20 feet away!). It's very cool to see black sand created by lava flows, too. I didn't go into the water when I was there, but it was still a sweet, short visit.
Terri G — Google review
what an stunning piece of heaven, it feels exotic, from the color of the sand, the color of the palm trees. and resting green turtles, chances of spotting resting turtles are quite high. This is a very rare landscape. The black sand and the casted sky makes this a great spot for photography

Worth it to visit this BLACK SAND BEACH Absolutely beautiful... a few minutes walk along the path through a little park and down a few steps but worth it. The views walking to it are stunning. There are a few cats in the car park and in the park. They will come up to you especially if you're eating or have food in your hands. There are toilets in the park. The pebbles are abit difficult to walk on but they were nice to sit on as they were really warm from the sun. There is black sand walking closer to the water.

100% recommend coming here. The coolest beach ever. It can be hard to get reservations/ticket but so so cool. I recommend trying your best to go there!! So fun and something I will remember forever!

Nestled in a remote area of one of the world's most isolated island chains, Little Beach is a hidden gem with bright red sand formed from ancient volcanic material. This secluded cove is surrounded by gnarled trees and pounded by giant Pacific breakers, creating a unique and stimulating environment for beachgoers. While nudity is prohibited on state park beaches, the rules are more relaxed at Little Beach, where topless sunbathers can often be seen.
Absolutely beautiful beach. Not crowded and has a unique island charm that's hard to put into words. The majestic sea turtles are happy to hang out with the people. They walk up next to you and lay down, take a nap. So nice to see!

Makena State Park (Big Beach to Secret Beach & Beyond) Hot, humid, and hilariously unforgettable. Makena State Park brings the full Maui experience—from the golden sands of Big Beach to the surprise cameo of tan-line-free beachgoers at Little Beach. Expect a short but steep climb over lava rock between the two shores—more of a scramble than a hike, but worth every step for the jaw-dropping views and people-watching potential. The tropical air is thick, the sun relentless, and the vibe? Somewhere between paradise and a nudist daydream. Bring water, leave judgment at home, and prepare for a wild blend of nature and…nature lovers. Perfect in its own steamy, scandalous way.

Here at Little beach i have had one of the best days i could imagine there. At one point i felt so happy i had no more desires or cares in the whole world. Then one day i was pulled out by a riptide and if i didn't calm my self and play my cards right i may not be writing this review right now... I learned a lot about myself out there and even now i believe it is a very special place. One that should be respected.

Great beach, can get pretty windy there at times but I fell in love with the beach. White sand and crystal clear water.

Good beach ,sometimes good for surfing. Plenty of nude people here 😎👀 if you like it - must have to check it out. Great snorkeling spot if you’ll go a bit further on the trail

Probably my favorite experience of the whole trip. We went on Sunday for the beach party. It was amazing. The openness of everyone was refreshing. The drum circle was amazing. Good vibes all around. Climbing the rocks was definitely easier while it was still light out but I would recommend 10/10. Would definitely go back on a Sunday.

Totally enjoyed my time at this beach! Clothes are completely optional so be warned! The sand in this place is just wonderful and plenty of it too. You do have to claim a bit to get to this side of the beach. There is some trails in the back of the beach that connect you to the other side of the park, if you have time you should walk along the trails. Often no one is back there. You can see Molokini and Lanai from here. The sunsets are beautiful and sometimes there is a drum circle when the sun goes down. Pretty rad place!

One of the best beaches we visited, not only does it have a family side but also a nude beach side, which you got to do a small hike over that big rock. But very clean place and the water was perfect. Sorry I can’t show you the nude side, but it was better then the family side. Highly recommend this beach and there was plenty of parking as well

Twin Falls Hike is the first waterfall hike along the Hana Highway, offering an easily accessible out-and-back route with several stream crossings and swimming opportunities. The trail features multiple waterfalls, with the impressive Twin Falls (Caveman Falls) at the end. Located around mile marker 2.1 on Hana Highway, it's a popular spot with a large parking area and a colorful Twin Falls Farm Stand.
easy hike, incredible views. $10 parking. Make sure you have shoes that can get wet or are easy to slip off as the last part of the hike is through a shallow stream. The first falls are the best for swimming and can even be jumped off of.
Jeffrey M — Google review
This hike was worth the $10 you pay for parking. The trail takes maybe an hour or two total to hike, but the views you see are absolutely beautiful. The best parts were the plants and scenery leading up to the falls. It also rained partially while we walked so it really added to the ambiance.
Alex W — Google review
This is a beautiful area and the hike to multiple falls is quite easy. There is some uphill on a crushed rock path, and you may have to cross some streams in ankle deep water. The foliage along the way is lush and beautiful! The only drawback is that it's very popular and crowded.
Lynn L — Google review
We had our first mini hike here in Maui and absolutely loved it! Short but sweet with beautiful waterfalls that are clean and easy to access. There are a lot of mosquitoes here and make sure you get there early as there are limited parking spots! Definitely a must visit if you’re in the area or on the road to Hana
Emily D — Google review
Crowded, chaotic, and barely a hike. Not a serene nature trail by any means. I’m sure there are better hikes along the road to Hana. Would be good if you have fussy toddlers…?

It's a drought season but it's worth seeing. $10 parking and entrance fee, don't forget to tip.
JAM E — Google review
This is a cool place to check out. Bring $10 for parking which is rather well organized, maybe some water, and shoes you can walk in well but can get wet. Terrain is more or less easy and no big climbs.

Nestled under a charming plantation-style roof, the Maui Crafts Guild is a vibrant co-op gallery that showcases an impressive array of 100% locally-made handcrafted art. This delightful space is manned by talented guild members, including basket weavers and jewelers, who create stunning pieces like opalescent glass designs, hand-painted scarves, and luxurious silk robes. Visitors can explore unique souvenirs that reflect the rich culture of Maui.
The art is very beautiful, however, I have no idea how they can stay in business, since everything is about twice as expensive as it should be to be sold. I understand that art is valuable and unique, however , at the end of the day, it needs to be purchased by an actual customer.

Super unique store of items I haven’t seen before. My husband and I wanted everything in the store and ended up purchasing a gold charm for my bracelet and two chalices that are rainbow glass. Prices reflect the craftsmanship. The woman working also packaged everything up for us and we arrived home to KY with nothing broken. She really took her time and was considerate of how special these pieces were to us. Really has something for anyone looking for something special from Maui.

Great store, rude male staff at my visit today! Very unwelcoming! When I went to check out he made a huge deal about taking cash. He said it was a “hassle” and wanted me to pay with a card. I only had cash and he continued to complain and roll his eyes to the point I didn’t make the purchase. Lots of other great shops with friendly staff that I spent my money in.
J M — Google review
Such a neat set up with. I got a couple of gifts for my nieces. The pieces were greatly loved when I got back to the mainland. The guild members that are there were very nice and personable when I had questions. They love what they do.
Alexys K — Google review
We stopped by while cruising through Paia, doing the pseudo-tourist thing. But for the first time in a long time of art exposure, I came across a technique I'd never seen, and it was awesome. Gyotaku. Just look it up. Debra Lumpkins was the artist, and unbeknownst to me, she was operating the store that day. So the moment I said, "man, I like this" to my wife, the woman behind the counter said she created it, explained it, and explained the Guild as a whole. Very nice.
