Poppies Fish & Chips is a London institution founded by Pat "Pop" Newland, who has been in the fish and chip business since he was 11 years old. The retro-styled restaurants aim to transport diners back to 1950s East End London. However, it's not just about nostalgia; the focus is on quality.
We ate there at the restaurant and the truth is that the quality was excellent. I think they are the real fish and chips since you can feel the native flavor different from traditional markets. I must say that I tried it in markets and the flavors have nothing to do with what I tried here. The best by far. We paid for two dishes and two sparkling waters a total of 57 pounds. The average price of the dishes if you eat there is 18/20 pounds per person. You also have the option of getting delivery right next door and paying less for it.

I ate HADDOCK at Poppies Fish & Chips in London and had Sticky Toffee Pudding for dessert. The fish was very juicy and fresh, but the batter had absorbed a bit too much oil. Therefore, I recommend waiting a few minutes before you start eating, otherwise you might burn your mouth. The fries were simple and tasty, and ketchup was available on every table. They also served a small jar of sauce; it was mayonnaise-like but not as oily as mayonnaise. It contained different herbs. I expected it to have a unique, fresh flavor, but I didn’t get that impression. In my mind, it was supposed to have a stronger garlic flavor and a fresher taste from the herbs inside. The presentation was nice, but I couldn’t reach the taste I had imagined. I ordered a large portion, but a regular size would have been enough because after a while, the oil absorbed by the fish and batter becomes a bit overwhelming. As for the dessert, it was a moist, cake-like sweet but with a thicker, stickier texture. I think this dessert can only be enjoyed properly with ice cream. The ice cream somewhat reduces the heaviness of the dessert. The sauce reminded me of a traditional flavor I’ve had before — like molasses with burnt butter on top. The sauce alone was tasty. The presentation, the venue, and the staff were all quite good.

They are well known by their fish&chips so this is what we took. It was good and tasty cod with french fries. This also translates that the place is overpriced .. By my experience I would suggest to stick to it: we went for two more appetizers and they were not worth it (e.g. hot fish appetizer is almost a scam). Very friendly staff though and the place is a kind of must see tourist attraction, so worth to try! Tip: you need to be really hungry to take the big fish&chips platter. Poppie’s Soho: A Buzzing Bite of Brilliance Poppie’s Fish & Chips in Soho is pure London magic—retro vibes, tiled walls, and a Friday night crowd so lively it hums like a beehive. The line out the door? A dead giveaway for top-notch taste; locals and visitors alike can’t get enough. I dove into the haddock supper: flaky, fresh fish in shatteringly crisp batter, paired with fluffy chips and those dreamy mushy peas—creamy, mint-kissed perfection that ties it all together without a soggy note. At £20 with zesty tartare, it’s comfort food elevated. The calamari stole the show, though—tender rings in light, seasoned flour with a lemony lift, dipping divinely into that sauce. Generous portions, no chewiness, just joy. Swift, smiling service keeps the chaos fun. Poppie’s nails tradition with flair—head here for London’s best chips. 5/5, plotting my return already.

Located in SoHo, next all pubs and theatres. We had haddock fried fish with chips, and grilled mackerel with chips. They tasted good and service was really friendly, but I could t believe it was nearly $100 for the meal!!! Location is central and food is pretty okay.

It’s been several months since my trip, but seeing my photo gallery reminded me to leave this review. This was my first meal in the UK and also my very first fish and chips. The excellent fish and chips I had here made me travel across the country in search of more great ones. The ale I had here was also comparable to the beers I’ve enjoyed in Germany. Even though I was dining alone, the service was incredibly friendly.

We had an amazing experience at this restaurant! The food was absolutely delicious!✨ The staff were incredibly kind and went out of their way to accommodate us in every possible way. They truly made us feel at home. I can’t recommend this place enough — it’s an absolute must-visit if you’re in London!🥰

I recently visited Puppies, Fish & Chips in downtown London, and it turned out to be one of the best casual dining experiences I’ve had in the city. This cozy spot captures the charm of traditional British fish and chips. The fish was perfectly golden and crispy on the outside, with tender, flaky meat inside, and the chips were thick, hot, and just the right amount of salty. They also serve smaller “bites” for those who want to try a variety of flavors—these were equally delicious, especially the lightly battered calamari. The atmosphere felt warm and welcoming, with friendly staff who were happy to recommend their favorites. Even though it was busy, service was quick and efficient, and everything tasted fresh. I also appreciated that they seemed to care about sourcing quality ingredients, which really showed in the flavor. Downtown London has many fish and chip shops, but this one stands out because it manages to feel both authentic and inventive. Whether you’re a tourist looking for a taste of classic Britain or a local who just wants a reliably tasty meal, Puppies, Fish & Chips is worth the stop.

Golden Union is a traditional-style chippy located near Oxford Street in London. The family-owned establishment offers a retro decor and serves up classic fish and chips alongside a selection of beers. Their sustainable fish selection includes cod, haddock, pollock, coley, and plaice, all cooked to order in homemade batter. In addition to the fantastic fluffy chips, they also offer non-battered options like fishcakes and pies made in-house daily.
Absolutely loved this place! The fish and chips were delicious, perfectly crispy batter, tender fish, and golden, fluffy chips. Everything was fresh and full of flavor. What really made the experience even better was the service. our waitress was incredibly friendly, attentive, and made us feel very welcome. Highly recommended if you're looking for a classic and satisfying meal in London!

Went to London knowing it is famous for fish and chips. Wanted to try some that were well prepared. Not just street food. This small restaurant tucked away did an excellent job delivering. The food was very yummy. The staff were attentive and made great recommendations for sauces not considered going in. The curry and gravy sauces were a good choice. The restaurant is accommodating of vegans as well with the vegan option chosen being delicious.

A mate told me this was one the best fish and chip places he's gone and it didn't disappoint! Was super tasty! I had the haddock and my GF the cod and we both agree cod was better and less fishy tasting. The chips were fried well but I'd like them but crisper. Overall really solid. Loved the vibe of the place too. The milk shake was kinda meh but the fish and chips nailed it!
Andrew B — Google review
I have no idea why this restaurant has a lower overall rating. It is WONDERFUL! The fish are fried literally right in front of you, the restaurant is super clean and the staff is kind! There are a variety of fish like cod, haddock, and polluck. The pies are excellent. We visited here twice while in London for a week!! If you LIKE FISH, you should come here!
Angie F — Google review
Tucked away just off Oxford Street on Poland Street, Golden Union is a bit of a hidden gem for fish & chips. Service was friendly and efficient. The chips are proper, chunky and well-cooked, and the cod was delicious — crisp golden batter on the outside, soft and flaky white fish inside. Everything is fried in rapeseed oil, which keeps it light and clean-tasting. Portion-wise, the cod was slightly smaller than I’ve had elsewhere for the price, but still very satisfying. Plenty of seating inside, though it can get packed on weekends, so be prepared for a busy atmosphere. Overall, a solid spot for classic fish & chips in central London.
Nando S — Google review
Very delicious fish and chips - we preferred the cod as it was nice and tender. The onion rings were very fresh and the coleslaw was delicious too The service was great as well! Only thing was the toilet door was a bit hard to lock, so take note to lock it properly when using
Ken W — Google review
I highly recommend this place. The food is excellent. The fish and chips were perfect — not too oily (thing I was afraid of), the fish was very tasty, the chips were homemade, and the tartare sauce was delicious. The staff are kind, and I’m especially grateful to my waitress, Aurora, who was absolutely lovely and helpful; she’s a true ray of sunshine. I even went back a second time, not only because the food is exquisite, but also because she brings such warmth and joy to the atmosphere. Thank you, Aurora, and thank you, Golden Union! 🙏
Kevin A — Google review
Golden union offers a wide selection of the traditional fish and chips with various fish. Everything was fresh and tasty and even though it may not look like a big portion, it was plenty of food for us. The place itself has a modern-made-retro atmosphere and service was efficient and friendly. Definitely worth visiting if in London!

Toff’s of Muswell Hill is a well-established family business that has been serving delicious fish and chips since 1968. The classic fish counter takeaway is connected to a small restaurant with a charming wood-paneled interior. Despite its name and location in Muswell Hill, the restaurant prides itself on being friendly and welcoming, without trying to be too quirky. Toff’s offers sustainably sourced fish, including options like eel, sea bass, rainbow trout, haddock, and cod.
Amazing restaurant, so far the best fish and chips I had. The batter was light and crispy. Fish soup was amazing, it’s very mild and tasty. Mushy Pea was nice too, I believe even someone normally don’t eat pea would like that too. They have all kind of fish which I would like to try next time. Only small issue is it’s difficult to find a parking nearby. Definitely recommend this and will come again.
Gordon A — Google review
Favourite fish and chips in London right now for takeaway and sitting in. The cod is the right point between soft and firm. Only criticism is that the mushy peas are a little bland. 5 stars because the fish is so good, taken away twice and sat in once, consistently great. £25 takeaway for large cod, regular chips, mushy peas and homemade tartar sauce.
Chirag R — Google review
Been here a few times, and always leave happy - only because the food is great and the service is superb. The fish is super fresh coated in crispy light batter and does not feel greasy. Likewise the chips are light and crunchy and delightful. Service is always consistently great and friendly. Always make a booking for a table. Highly recommend the turbot too, sweet delicious fish. Overall, would come again and again.
Mimi — Google review
We ordered on the phone and were told it’d be ready within 20/25 mins and they made sure it was - given how busy they are that was very good. We ordered 3 grilled and 1 fried cod, chips, mushy peas and calamari. The only thing we didn’t enjoy was the calamari however the rest of the food was amazing. The tartar sauce was also very good and a huge portion. It’s a little expensive but probably one of the best fish and chips I’ve had. I’ll definitely return.
S A — Google review
Ordered fish and chips expecting something fresh and tasty, but what I got was greasy, soggy chips and a bland and the chips were cold and tasted like they’d been sitting around for ages. Nothing about the meal felt fresh or enjoyable. For the price, which is £17.30 I expected much better. Won’t be going back ….

It was one of those times last night where at 62 I was conscious of the years passing. I had last been here prior to Covid when the original Owner was still alive and I had heard word of things not being the same and standards having declined . Owing to the Nautilus still being closed I decided to make a booking and as I parked the Porsche out front and approached the front door I was a bit nervous . There were a dozen people waiting at the counter and the restaurant was busy too . I was almost an hour early for my booking but we were still allocated a table . I noted the fish ready cooked piled high in the hot plate but it was disappearing as fast as it was cooked . I had the Scampi starter which was excellent followed by Haddock and Chips which again were excellent . Justin my Electrical Engineer had Plaice and Chips followed by Homemade Tiramisu all again excellent and we washed this down with a couple of bottles of Keo Beer . Sitting back afterwards enjoying one of the nicest white coffees I have ever had I wondered why I had believed all the talk of declining standards . I have to tell everyone that Tofts are still at the top of their game and I literally couldn't fault the service or the food for it was truly outstanding . Walking outside I glanced at Sweaty Betty next door and thought of all the money I had wasted splashing out on this girlfriend and that . They are all gone now but the memories remain . September of my years indeed . Thanks Tofts , Yanni at the Nautilus is going to see me less often , it was incredibly good .

I have been a customer for 13 years, and my partner for 30 years. Toff’s used to be a place where you could truly enjoy fish and chips — one of the most competitive in London. Today, after my clinical appointment, we went there to relax. Unfortunately, the experience was very disappointing. The staff seemed confused, with poor engagement toward customers. It felt more like being in a fast-food chain than in a classic fish and chips restaurant. As for the food, the quality has gone down. The fish and chips were oily and poorly prepared — nothing like what Toff’s used to serve. Sadly, I was eating just to fill my hunger, not to enjoy. I can no longer recommend this place.

Great traditional English fish & chips! They know how to cook fish! I had the sea bass which was delicious and cooked to perfection. We were very happy! They also do gluten free batter! Would recommend.

The Golden Hind Restaurant in Marylebone is a long-established venue that has been serving delicious fish and chips for over 100 years. The restaurant, run by owners with Cypriot heritage, offers large portions of traditional fish and chips as well as steamed seafood. It's tucked away in Fitzrovia, making it a hidden gem for those in the know. While it may be pricier than some options, many say the experience and quality make it worth it.
When you are in London, how can you miss fish and chips? The Golden Hind is our go-to place. We loved all our choices, especially the calamari. Staffs are nice and friendly.
Christine Y — Google review
Lots of history here perhaps (since 1924) but really nothing special if you’re getting just Fish & Chips for lunch. Fish was tasty and there were a number of possible choices. Restaurant had a more upper class feel. No beer on tap (just bottles) and that would be the last time i go there. And watch out if you’re going for lunch because there may be a lunch special available for £3-4 less than the same / similar item on their menu .. (we missed the lunch special sign on the way into the restaurant and our waiter never mentioned the special 😑 )
Bill B — Google review
It is expensive but worth every penny. The quality of the fish and chips was unmatched. We were not fans of peas and somehow their mushy peas got us hooked. The restaurant has a very warm and cozy ambiance as well which adds to it. It’s going to be hard to top this meal - it’s probably in the top 3 fish and chips in London.
Carolina B — Google review
Terrible service: The service was not at all enjoyable. My sisters and I are on vacation. Before heading back to our hotel we decided to stop for a glass of wine. All the restaurants in the area seemed to have long lines outside and when we looked through the windows the tables were occupied. This was the only empty restaurant. All the waiters and waitresses stood by the front door with nothing to do. Just chatting and laughing. No tables to tend to. (I guess this should have been the red flag). We decided to stop in and have a few glasses of wine and possibly order food. But we wanted to start with just something to nibble on. The manager himself approached our table and informed us that we would have to leave in 30 minutes because we did not order enough food and they were fully booked for tonight. Only two tables were tagged with reservations, the remainder of the tables were empty. (Please see photos attached). So this has prompted me to leave this review, because it was unnecessary and inhospitable of the manager and the waitress to rush us out whilst they ran an empty restaurant. 0/10 Would Not Recommend.
Gracie T — Google review
A really good fish and chips spot in London. I have been to some of the other more popular fish and chips restaurants in and they usually get really crowded and it is difficult to find a table. But this place was quite empty when we had lunch yet the cod was just as good if not better than other places. The bathrooms were also clean and the service was fast and friendly. The only thing that I didn’t like was the calamari fingers so I wouldn’t recommend them. And for the fish I didn’t like their malt vinegar so I recommend just squeezing a lemon instead.
Manee K — Google review
The Golden Hind is a wonderful place to enjoy classic foods and chips. The food is always fresh, crispy on the outside, and soft inside. The chips are hot, tasty, and cooked just right. The staff are friendly and welcoming, and the restaurant has a warm, clean, and comfortable atmosphere. The portions are big and the prices are fair. It’s a great spot for families, friends, or anyone who loves good, traditional British food. I would definitely visit again!”

Heard a lot about the restaurant and finally got there and an amazing experience from start to finish! The Mayfair Chippy is a vibrant restaurant located in Mayfair, offering a delightful dining experience with outdoor seating. This award-winning establishment takes pride in its Northern roots and commitment to sustainability, freshness, and excellent cooking. The menu features classic dishes such as flaky fried cod or haddock served with fluffy chips, mushy peas, tartar sauce, and chip shop curry sauce or HP gravy.
Absolutely worth making a reservation and waiting in line. The haddock was fresh, perfectly salted and seasoned, and the portions were big. Service was quick and friendly. Besides the fish & chips, we had mussels in an amazing creamy sauce, excellent fried calamari, and a salad with fresh vegetables. In short - don’t miss this place, and wait in line as long as it takes! :)

Wonderful fish and chip. I'd say one of the best. Good value and large portions. It's a very busy area and they do good business so expect a wait. They were also making it very clear that you have one hour to dine once seated. The ambiance is crowded and cluttered. Not beautiful by any means. My wife and I visited twice and both times our server had a hard time getting out order correct. Easily remedied and not that big of a deal. I'm used to having my fish crunchy all around. But I can understand a little sogginess on the bottom due to the size of the portions. In any event, it was delicious.

I booked online so there was no waiting time, while the Q was long by the door, the food to be honest is ok, the fish had no taste and too oily, but the tartar sauce was amazing! I got oysters, which is so yum, classic fish and chips and shrimps. The shop is too small and very busy, but service was super fast. The cutest is that they gave us at the end a bag full of candies 🥰 which I really liked.

My first time having fish and chips in London and this was amazing. The portion is huge and the food was made a to high quality standard. It’s quite pricey but worth the price. I love the juicy and tender fish and truffle chips and deep-fried halloumi. The sauces come with the dishes are brilliant as well. All well served. I like the staff as well, he is very passionate and attentive. However, the restroom is a bit messy, they need to check the facility regularly during the night as the restaurant is very busy then the restroom gets messy easily.

We had an amazing experience! The service was great and super fast, especially thanks to Nisha — she was very friendly and attentive. The food was delicious and arrived quickly. Portions were generous and definitely worth it. Honestly, this is the best Fish & Chips spot in London. The only downside is that the place is a bit small and the chairs aren’t very comfortable — but still totally worth it for the food and service

This is the best Fish and Chips I've ever had, most probably due to the Caviar add-on. The batter on the fish was nice and crispy, the chips were tasty especially with the curry sauce. It was a great experience. We just turned up, but almost didn't get a table, so I would highly recommend booking ahead.

Great customer service from the team and their manager Nader. They made us feel very comfortable and the food was nice. The fish portion is large with lots of chunky Chips, it’s recommended to make a reservation. One of the most delicious Sticky Puddings ever! Highly recommend their Sticky Pudding :)

The fish and chips were very delicious, and the portions were quite large (I usually finish my meal, but here I was very full and even had some leftover fries). By the way, the sourdough bread was very tasty, served with smoked cod’s roe and butter—definitely recommended. The staff was incredibly warm and friendly, and we had a very pleasant family dinner. The only downside is that the place is a bit small, so I recommend making a reservation; otherwise, you might have to wait.

The Golden Chippy is a popular spot in Greenwich, known for its classic fish and chips and other tasty snacks. Although the sit-in section has closed, the restaurant continues to operate with limited customers allowed inside and local delivery options available. Visitors can explore Greenwich's famous sights before enjoying the signature lightly battered fish and chips or other menu options like jacket spuds, pies, and burgers. The outdoor seating area offers a charming setting to savor the delicious food.
We met some incredibly warm and hospitable staff during our trip to London! They kept offering us different kinds of fish and chips to try. I noticed their staff meal looked really delicious and asked if I could buy some—turns out it was homemade. But they even packed a portion just for me to taste. I’m so grateful! The fish and chips we bought were also absolutely delicious—my child is already asking to go back again.

Wow, these guys care about giving you an authentic fish & chips experience! 🤩 I’ve never had vegan fish & chips before - now I have. Really impressed they are offering plant-based options. 🙏 Food was delicious and 1 order was definitely enough for 2 people!! Highly recommend - and I’ll be back over Xmas for sure. (Photo was of half the portion.)

Loved this place! Great fish and chips. My wife had the cod and I had the Rock Fish. First time for the Rock: just the tight amount of batter, a sweet and creamy fish. Served with a green salad which had their own flavors added; parsley, mint, and coriander. We like the food and service from this family owned business that we returned the next evening and had a jacket potato and 1/2 burger both filled us up. Forget the Abbott Ale - great with the fish and burger. On our second evening we met a couple of guys that had read previous reviews, as we did, and found it brilliant. If you’ll be in Greenwich be sure to check it out. You’ll be glad you did.

The fish and chips were excellent and the service was great! Ordered the Cod Fish and Chips which came with loads of chips, a tasty salad, and crispy fish. Definitely satisfied my fish and chips craving! Visited during a heat wave in June and the staff accommodated us by moving our table into the shade. Majority of the seating is outdoor.

Amazing fish and chips w/ salad! The haddock was very big. It was not oily, neither was the chips. Well done! The batter did not separate from the fish. Even Gordon Ramsay Fish and Chips could not achieve this! Friendly owner, always make sure customers enjoyed their meals.

These guys know how to fry fish!! Absolutely the best fish and chips I've ever eaten. A huge portion of fish with a light crispy batter, plus lots of chips and salad. It's served with a delicious homemade tarter sauce on the side, but malt vinegar is also provided. The onion rings are also amazing!! Servers are friendly and helpful.

I would give this fish and chip shop 10 stars if I could! It's been on my to-visit list for years, and finally getting the chance to go was definitely worth the wait. The staff are incredibly accommodating, making it feel like I was having dinner with family. The portion sizes are just right, and of course, the haddock and chips are the highlight of the meal!😍 I can’t forget to mention Chris…what a gem! I’m already looking forward to my next visit!

🇧🇷 The fish and chips were the best we’ve had in London - and we just came from Ireland and tried lots of them. The owner Chris came to our table and told us the fish had been caught the same day. It is a family-run restaurant and the owner’s daughter-in-law was taking care of us, very sweet and friendly - For Brazilians reading this - ela é brasileira, o que foi uma agradável surpresa 🇧🇷💕 provem o fish cake também!

Rock and Sole Plaice is a historic chippy located in Covent Garden, serving traditional seafood dishes since 1871. The shop boasts the claim of having the largest chips in the country, fried in peanut oil. Visitors can enjoy classic fish and chips with traditional sides like pickled eggs and mushy peas, all made from a 145-year-old recipe. In addition to its mouthwatering menu, there's an outdoor seating area for guests to soak up the sunshine during their visit.
I have to admit from the start that eating fish & chips is not my idea of a good meal. It is just fried fish & fried potatoes, how can it be that good? Well, if you have one place to try it, I would recommend a Rock & Sole Plaice. The fried exterior was not oily, the batter was tasty and the cod inside was fuming fresh, tasted fantastic. Fries were probably the weakest, too thick, these kind of fries are never that good and it is no different here. But they come with the dish. We were duly impressed with the sides though and I would argue to add some to yoir order. The vinegary gherkin and the coleslaw cut through and elevated the fish, a very nice contrast in taste. Please be aware that they add a service charge of 12.5% to your bill and it is well written on the menu. Service was fast & efficient but not particularly friendly. We recommend at least once for the true taste of English fish & chips, but kind of expensive for what is at the end of the day just fried fish. P.S.: if this review and pictures were useful in making your choices, please leave a 👍 and thank you for your support 🙏

Very decent Chippy Restaurant with friendly staff and nice selection of fish including Stingrays this is a very unique chippy restaurant as it have unusual types of fish to choose from we’ve tried Skate(Stingray, serve with edible bone), Rock(serve with hard bone), Plaice(flat flounder) and Haddock(similar to Cod) and they all taste unique and delicious but in terms of the chips, is definitely on a softer side and is very mushy, personally I’m not a fan of very mushy chips but I’m sure some people like it. In terms of staff they are very friendly but make sure to be ready to know what to order as they are extremely busy and you don’t wanna miss a chance, there are times I’ve waited over 5 minutes to order my food but I appreciate them as it is very stress during peak hours. And just a heads up please make sure to make a reservation as sometimes I see people wait over an hour during peak season. Overall Fish delicious, chips match standards.

Came here for fish and chips. I love fish and chips, being a northern British person who knows good from bad I had to try the place. Didn't have a reservation but we were able to get a seat at peak time, sat outside but it was warm so no hardship. It does get very busy here. We both went for the haddock and the London side selection. The food was gorgeous, couldn't fault it. The prices were reasonable. The service was friendly and welcoming. Would definitely recommend the place.

It was said to be the oldest fish and chips shop in London, and perhaps the best. Even my parents went and told me it was the best they had ever eaten. After that, I decided to go, and it truly was the best fish and chips I’ve ever had. The fried prawns were also incredibly delicious. Everything was simply perfect. The service was excellent—fast, attentive, friendly, and polite. Many thanks to the whole team. I would definitely recommend this place; it’s the best fish and chips shop in London.

Looking for a place to go with a friend who loves food and I needed to be close by where I was so this place popped out on my map. The oldest place in London for fish and chips.Good thing I made a reservation since once we got there it was pretty busy. The staff were prompt and took care of us immediately. We ordered 2 kinds of fish we had not tried before and an a mixed appetizer. There was a shrimp wrap which was delicious. The batter on the fish was delicate and freshly fried. We enjoyed our food and the servicewas great. Highly recommended for fish and chips.

I visited The Rock & Sole Plaice after hearing a lot of hype, but it didn’t quite live up to the reviews. The fish and chips were okay and very ordinary — definitely not worth the long wait or the higher prices. I’m sure you can find the same quality (or even better) for less elsewhere. The service wasn’t very friendly either, possibly because of how busy it gets. Overall, nothing special and I wouldn’t really recommend it.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ We had a lovely breakfast here with my kids. The food was fresh and delicious — perfectly cooked scrambled eggs, creamy avocado, and great coffee. The atmosphere was cozy and relaxed, and the staff were kind and friendly. Highly recommend this place to start your morning in London!

If you're looking for some really good fish, this is a spot to hit. The fish itself was seriously impressive – so fresh and delicious. They offer a great selection of different fish, and from what I tasted, they all deliver. The chips weren't quite there for me.. they lacked that essential crispness. But honestly, with fish that good, it's a small trade-off. The staff here are also friendly. We snagged a seat outside, which was great, but a heads-up: we had a reservation, and I'd definitely suggest booking ahead to make sure you get a spot.

Masters Superfish is a long-established traditional fish and chips restaurant located in Southwark, London. The restaurant sources its fresh seafood from Billingsgate Fish Market daily, ensuring high-quality ingredients for their classic fish and chips. With a no-frills approach, the establishment offers table service and prides itself on serving great seafood cooked right before your eyes. Customers can enjoy their meal with complimentary starters like bread and butter, gherkins, pickled onions, and prawns.
I had a really nice dining experience here at Masters Superfish. I was warmly greeted by a lovely lady who said I could sit where I wanted. I arrived around 6pm, and it was still pretty quiet at that point. Whilst I was there the restaurant did start to get busier, with a mixture of both locals and tourists. Being a local myself I found it quite amusing watching visitors trying to decipher the menus, and wondering why their dishes were accompanied by pickled gherkins and onions! There’s quite an extensive menu - with lots of different fishes, as well as some vegetarian options too. The drinks menu is also pretty impressive. I thought the prices were quite reasonable - especially for a dining in restaurant. Most chip shops (chippy’s) in London charge around £15 for Cod & Chips to takeaway - and that’s without the complimentary side dishes that are served here with every meal. So I would say that what you are getting here is good value for money. My food was delicious - freshly cooked and hot. I didn’t notice any issues with smells of cooking oil coming from the kitchen, and the bathroom was clean. I would highly recommend visiting this lovely restaurant.

Enjoyable straight forward fish and chips short walk from Waterloo station and marsh street area. Just a street or so away from the busier spots. Had the cod combo and mustard crusted cod was ok and fried piece was still quite big and excellent. Added side of coleslaw that I thought was excellent. One of us had the grilled sea bass. Whole fish grilled perfectly, but some may not like whole fish off bone. Not cheap for three about 80 pounds.

Seems to be coasting and trading off its reputation whilst offering a mediocre product. Its always full of tourists who are maybe a little easy to please. The good points. They bring you bread & butter, pickled onion, gherkins and prawns which is nice. They also bring you ketchup and tartar in a large portion. The bad points. As a fish a chip specialist it's a bit of a red flag that they do burgers and all sorts but whatever. The main issue is that the batter is thin and not particularly crispy. I got the skate. The fish itself was cooked OK. The chips are slightly undercooked to my taste and a little dry. Also the portions although decent are quite small for fish and chips. All in all it feels like they need a bit of a review. This place should be packed there's very few places to get fish and chips in the area (especially eat in) but somehow it's always half full despite getting people coming from all round the world. It needs some love. It would be nice if they did desserts too but you can't please everyone.
Louis S — Google review
Pointer: add salt to your fish. I rarely add salt to anything, but this addition makes the meal here. As one comment mentioned, without the salt the piping hot fish was very bland - just oil. The salt made it pop, as did the vinegar. Both are key here. I had the Master Fish. I'd say this place gets a load of tourists, as I looked around you could tell there weren't many locals. To that end, it's a bit more pricy than you might expect. Don't wear something nice here. The burning cooking oil created a fog in the main dining hall. Not a complaint. It just comes with the territory. Overall, it was a great piece of fish, once doctored up. It's pricy, but generally worth it.

Surprisingly good food at affordable prices! We visited the UK for the very first time in July of this year and stayed for a few days at a nearby hotel. Thank you, Google, for recommending Masters Superfish! We wanted to try traditional English fish and chips, and this place was perfect for that. Not only do they offer a great selection of fish, but their fries are superb—thick-cut, crispy on the outside, and soft on the inside. My favorite! As others have mentioned, the menu has plenty of options, so even our two picky teenage eaters found something they liked. We enjoyed the place so much that we had dinner there every night. Highly recommended! Oh, and by the way—the infamous reputation of English food is outdated. We had breakfast and lunch at several places, and shockingly, no culinary trauma occurred. It was actually good!

My family were in the trade for over 40 years, I effectively grew up in a Fish and Chip shop. I can say without hesitation that this is the best fish and chips that I have eaten since my father died and his business closed. The fish is fresh and cooked superbly, no half measures, no soggy chips or batter, just done right.

Fish Central is a long-standing establishment in Clerkenwell, having opened its doors in 1968. The restaurant offers a wide selection of fish dishes, including grilled sardines, oysters, and lobster. The focus on serving only the freshest fish results in flaky, moist cod with a light and crunchy batter. The dining room provides a spotless white setting for enjoying the daily specials and extensive fish menu.
Such a nice place, reminds of restaurants near the seaside in holiday places, with a very caring staff and great service. I would like to highlight smiling and positive Sergio and very polite and smiling Givseppe who made our family dinner definitely unforgettable. Fish Central turned out to be one of these places you want to visit again. Great thanks to the chef and cooks, the food was fresh and perfectly cooked. Highly recommend this restaurant.

The restaurant is located a bit outside the city center, but we decided to try it after seeing a good review. The service was warm and welcoming in a charming local way, which we appreciated as visitors from another country. The food was ok, though it felt a bit underseasoned compared to what I’m used to. My favorite was the scallop, nicely prepared. Overall, it felt like dining at a local spot rather than a tourist spot, which made the experience enjoyable.

Brilliant! Deliciously prepared food all around. We had the anchovy bruschetta, Scottish salmon, scampi, grilled salmon, rocket & tomato salad, and steamed veg (steamed to perfection!). Truly lovely, well-informed and solicitous server. House made bread and butter divine. A real gem.

We found this place on Eater London’s list of best fish and chips restaurants and it did not disappoint! The fish and chips were absolutely delicious and the service was top-notch. If it wasn’t for the fact that we live in America, we’d be back here on a weekly basis. 10/10. Highly recommend!

Was visiting London (the city of my birth) from New York and found myself craving fish & chips. Fish Central is a cut above your average chippie. It’s a fully fledged fish restaurant with an expansive menu and many daily specials on the black board. The best thing about Fish Central is the service. They were very welcoming, and gave us some fish cakes on the house. The fish and chips were excellent. I had haddock… very fresh, great batter. Chips were solid. Glass of Pinot Grigio and mushy peas on the side. Just what the doctor ordered.

This is a family run restaurant which specialies in fish and seafood. The menu includes a variety of fish including Cod, Haddock, Skate, Plaice, Hake and Salmon. The service is very good as they have a number of mature and experienced waiting staff. They made our dining experience and excellent one. The food was excellent and also ample and was very reasonably priced. The owner George came round and introduced himself to us and ensure that we had enjoyed our meal. I had a great chat with him as he narrated the history of his restaurant. This was a nice touch. We had a great time and will certainly revisit again and again.

The menu offers familiar classics like plaice, haddock, and cod cooked in organic oil, served with traditional sides such as buttered rolls, pickled onions, and curry sauce.
I've been to a fair few chippies and this is one of the best, definitely few competitors in London. It's light oil, perfectly crisp, and served nice and hot. Chips are superlative, fish is great. This isn't a London city centre scam, well worth the trek over. It wasn't busy the couple of times I've been. Cash only unless it's over £10.

Tried the Plaice & the Haddock for our first visit here - as well as some mushy peas and a savaloy. Definitely best fish & chips we’ve had in London so far. My fave was the Plaice as it’s more delicate & tender than the Haddock which I found more rubbery in texture. With the strong crispy batter though they were both contenders and very delicious! Chips were great with a splash of vinegar. Excellent & friendly service - would highly recommend as a fun London experience 🇬🇧

Stumbled upon this place while passing on the bus, what a gem! Proper old-school atmosphere, friendly staff and food done right. The cod fish was spot on and the beef & onion pie delicious. If you want the real deal rather than something polished up for tourists, this is the place!

After reading all the reviews we were expecting something really good. The food didnt have a lot of taste and the haddock was dry. Overall we have a heavy stomach after dinner and I would recommend choosing a different place. The price is very fair tho and maybe its just about preference. The ketchup tasted very artificial. The place has a nice bistro vibe.

This place has been on my list for a while after seeing a post about them on the Caffs_not_Cafes IG page. If you want the best authentic fish and chips in central London that is also wallet friendly, this is the best place to go. The exceptional quality of the food, the friendliness of staff, fast service, location and atmosphere that you get here is not so easy to come by these days in London and in the UK. We had the dine in menu and it was wonderful especially with the authentic decor that this place has. I had the plaice with chips (that come with the fish and were fried to perfection) and mushy peas. I haven’t had a decent fish and chips like this in years! If you are in London, you must visit this place.

Thoroughly decent fish n chips in this unpretentious establishment. Loved it. Fish (I had cod) was perfectly cooked to order (no precooked fish getting dry in a warmer here). Tender and properly hot out of the fryer fish surrounded by a thin and crispy batter. Tasty chips. Friendly staff. Recommended!

We found this place on social media and needless to say it was amazing. The haddock was fried amazingly, the batter was salty and savoury and the chips were so soft. We also had a cozy experience thanks to the staff who understood our language and made us feel at home, so I recommend the place for them too!!

One of the best fish and chips in London. I've been meaning to try this place for years and finally got around to it. The restaurant has two parts. One part a normal fish and chip shop with casual seating and a posh restaurant part which is very ornate and tastefully decorated. I sat in the normal part. Ordered small Cod and Chips and a beef (halal) sausage. The chips were cooked to perfection and you can tell they were fried in clean oil. Cod had a crispy batter and inside the fish was tasty and moist. The beef sausage was also nice and tasted better quality than your usual beef sausage. The posh part of the restaurant was very nice and the menu looked reasonably priced. Will definitely go back.

A lovely fish and chip place. It has both a sit in restaurant and a takeaway section. The traditional battered fish is fantastic and the grilled garlic prawns were delicious - a must have! The portion sizes are great and worth taking home! Staff are very warm and welcoming and we'll definitely be returning!

The fish was worth waiting for (4/5mins) for delivery, the chips were fine (slight smell of scampi!). The welcome lacked a little substance and a smile but overall quick and as recommended by Instagram. If you are travel by and fancy a decent f&c then worth stopping by and enjoy a meal on the table side of the road.

Me and my friends and i had our early dinner here. Fish and chips were perfectly cooked- it’s not soggy and oily. We also had oysters which were served fresh with olive oil and herbs as garnish which turned out good and it complimented the oysters well. Oysters happy hour are on mondays- wednesday 2-5pm free if you order mains and drinks. We were served by oleg and natalia- they were lovely and accommodating. At first oleg and his team thought they ran out of oysters and they were offering free drinks to which it’s above and beyond customer service- but turned out they had enough oysters for us. Thank you! We had a lovely dining experience

Fantastic classic fish and chips place which is also halal. There service is relatively fast, always fresh. Food tastes really good but generally I would stick to the fried stuff rather than grilled (from my own experience). Sausages are also really tasty for an indulgence! It can be tricky to park if you are doing take away. I haven't been to restaurant but it looks quite nice. There are plenty of spots to eat if you did want to eat from the takeaway. You still get served in the same way and boxes etc. Really recommend this place.

The Seashell of Lisson Grove is one of London’s true classics. Known for serving some of the best fish and chips for over 60 years, it has earned a loyal following of both locals and celebrities. Names like Halle Berry, Danny DeVito, Ed Sheeran, Bill Nighy, Lady Gaga, Madonna, and Dua Lipa have all been spotted here, and after dining, it is easy to see why. The restaurant has a charming art deco interior with a large central bar and a striking aquarium that instantly catches your attention. The atmosphere is relaxed yet elegant, making it ideal for both family meals and friendly gatherings. Service is a standout. Jack looked after us throughout the evening, and his friendly, attentive manner made the experience even more enjoyable. He offered thoughtful recommendations and genuine warmth, something that adds real value to the meal. My son, a huge fan of fish and chips, was thrilled to visit. We started with Grilled King Prawns, baked in a garlic, lemon, and parsley butter sauce. Jack suggested ordering some bread to soak up the sauce, which was an excellent tip. The prawns were plump, perfectly cooked, and bursting with flavour. For the main course, my son went for the classic cod and chips. The cod was huge, with a golden batter that was crisp without being greasy. Inside, the fish was moist, flaky, and fresh. The chips were thick-cut, soft inside, and full of that traditional flavour that only proper British chips have. He called it the best fish and chips he has ever had, and I would agree. I tried the fish goujon burger, served in a brioche bun with lettuce, gherkin, and their homemade tartare sauce. The sauce was excellent, creamy with just the right tang. The fish was crunchy outside, soft inside, and well-balanced with the sweetness of the bun. I also ordered the fish pie, which turned out to be one of the highlights. It was filled with cod, salmon, and haddock under a generous layer of cheesy mashed potato. The pie was creamy, rich, and full of flavour. The smell of the cheese was strong at first but did not take away from how good it tasted. For dessert, I chose the homemade apple pie with ice cream. It was warm, comforting, and perfectly cooked, with a buttery crust and soft, sweet apples inside. A simple dessert done right, and a perfect way to finish the meal. One detail worth noting is that their fish is halal, as they do not use beer in their batter. This makes The Seashell of Lisson Grove a great choice for families who prefer halal-friendly options without compromising on authentic British flavour. When we left, my son and I both had big smiles. The food, service, and setting made it a memorable evening. We are already planning to return, next time with the rest of the family. The Seashell of Lisson Grove has maintained its reputation for a reason. It delivers top-quality food, welcoming service, and a warm atmosphere that feels timeless. Whether you are after a traditional plate of fish and chips, something a bit different like their fish pie, or just a relaxed meal in a piece of London history, this restaurant delivers on every front.

The fish was astounding, the sweetpotatoe chips were just o.k. They could have used a bit more time in the fryer and a little salt. However, If you are close by and have an appetite for fish, just stop there and enjoy.

Hoxton Fish House is a warm and casual eatery located in trendy Shoreditch, just an 8-minute walk from Old Street station. It offers classic fried seafood plates, fish and chips, wine, and desserts. Despite its small size, the restaurant impresses with its traditional fish and chips served with double-cooked chips and freshly battered fish. The atmosphere may be affected by the weather but the service is friendly and attentive.
Excellent fish and chips, had the haddock and it was large, fresh, and nice batter. Chips seemed fresh cut, good taste but not very crispy (personal preference). Tartar sauce seemed homemade, was super nice. Further exceeding that is the fried whitebait appetizer which was the best we’ve ever had globally, fried in cornmeal batter and so tasty. The whitebait here are not the tiny style from New Zealand but instead are rather big (meaning bigger than say a sardine), quantity received was more than expected or mentioned in the menu — we LOVED them! Salt and pepper squid was very good, no issues but not world best category like the whitebait. Staff here pleasant and attentive. We ate in, and the tables were decent, clean, comfortable. Bathroom okay. Nice neighborhood. In summary we really enjoyed this place and we’ll likely be back here nice time we are in London.

We couldn't come to London and not have a proper Fish & Chips for a meal. On our first night we found that Hoxton Fish House was rather close to where we were staying, which made it a short walk to get to and from. The interior is quaint, very quiet but the staff was friendly. I ordered the tradition Fried Cod with a side of chips. Although it didn't come in a newspaper like my friend and I were told that the best fish and chips came in. I thoroughly enjoyed my meal! You may be thinking...what about the tartar? Well, I'm here to tell you that you also get a side of tartar. Order two if you can, it did just the trick to pair along with the fish. The cod was fresh, as well as the chips. Highly recommend that you stop by if you find yourself in the Hoxton neighborhood.

This small local chip shop offers excellent service. I sampled the haddock and cod on separate visits, and both were fresh, with a crisp and flavorful batter that perfectly satisfied my craving for authentic fish and chips. The seating is limited, and the absence of air conditioning on a warm 21°C day made it somewhat uncomfortable during one visit, which was the only downside I encountered. The fish and chips surpassed those from a chain shop I visited in Spitalfields Market and were better than those from a few local pubs I tried.

The best fish and chips in the borough. Absolutely delicious, crispy light batter and the chips wasn't hard or dry. The tartar sauce was tasty.y elderly Mum was very impressed. Most of all Hussain has excellent customer service and he has a kind soul. We will try and visit again when the sun is out or we'll definitely order a few takeaways ❤️

Genuinely, honestly? This has to be the best chippy in London. Fish selection on point, fried to perfection - you can order anything on the aside from curry sauce or fried sausage to a freaking gherkin. The chips were above average for fish and chip spots in LDN - but the fish, the fish is where it’s at. Sit in for a clean, atmospheric, hipster choppy experience (beer and wine on offer) or take away. Outdoor seating also available on a sunny day in a pleasant street.
Kristin W — Google review
I really enjoyed this restaurant, and though it's not a large restaurant, the food was great. I visited twice during my visit to London and had fried cod the first time, and fried haddock the second time, both times with chips.
David M — Google review
I rarely review a restaurant unless it is to warn people away No chance with this place. I should start by saying my favourite food is fish and in particular cod and chips. I am not local but had eaten fish and chips in the area previously and every time found the meal overpriced and just average. Not in this case - the price was good for London, the fish was fresh and tasty. We all know the batter can make or break fish and chips. This was the best battery I have tasted. All in all I have found my favourite fish and chips so far in London. Well worth a visit
Seamus M — Google review
Was a bit wary about trying the place, due to the sanitized up market image of the area. But it was okay, well above average. Chips were thick and potatoes with substance. And overall pleasant taste lingered in me mouth. Would use again

Gigs is a historic restaurant and takeaway spot located near Tottenham Court Road, serving fish and chips, grills, and other Mediterranean-influenced dishes. With over 50 years of experience, this family-owned establishment takes pride in offering reliable and delicious meals. The menu includes classic fried cod and crispy chips alongside fresh taramosalata and grilled halloumi, reflecting the owners' Cypriot heritage.
The fish and chips were decent, very clean flavors. Both the price and portion were very competitive with other locations. We also got the pastourma as an appetizer and it was a very well seasoned beef sausage. The mixed plate let you taste a bit of everything they had to offer. You could really taste the flavors of the meat and smoke. It came with salad, chips, and a pita making it a very sizeable amount of food. They offered a variety of sauces with the plate. If you're looking to hit your protein goals or to have pork, beef, lamb, and chicken all at once, I would definitely recommend getting this plate.

Traveling for business my co-worker and I stopped in Gigs and we're glad we did. Admittedly, I'm a fish-and-chips amateur, but Gig's was solid: fish – I tried both the cod and the haddock on two consecutive trips – was tasty, super-fresh, with a golden brown crunchy crust. Chips were tasty and just the right amount. Service was attentive but not hovering; just what I like. I'd definitely go back to Gig's to try some of their other dishes… but will probably wind up getting fish-and-chips again.

Unique lunch combination of fish and chips and kebab. Both done and served up well. Bonus points to the heaty chili sauce. Service was very friendly.

I’m so glad we decided on Gigs as the finally meal on our London trip. The service provided by Andreas was fantastic and it was a joy to chat with him throughout the meal when he checked in. I ordered the cod fish & chips, perfectly fried and not greasy. Their chili dipping sauce had a nice kick to it, which was appreciated. The weather was nice when we visited a few days ago so we sat outside on the patio. Great spot for fish & chips as well as Cypriot dishes.

Best takeaway chippie I've been to for a many years and that's the whole of the UK, never mind London. Large portions (I had to ask them to stop shovelling chips into the box cos I'd have ended up binning some), hot , cooked well and good price. And they didn't skimp on the salt and vinegar like some places seem to these days. I don't give many 5* but I'll be going back to Gigs. Thanks.

Really good Fish and Chips. Regular Cod, chips, curry sauce and pickled egg came in £18, more expensive than the shop down the road, but worth it. Cod was really well cooked, the Cod was moist and the batter light. Curry sauce was fantastic. As were the chips I look forward to going back and trying the less traditional options such as Grilled Tuna, Soft Shell Crab burger etc.
Richard J — Google review
This place really nailed the seafood vibe in my opinion. I had the fish and chips that looked great, the chips were fantastic. The only note was that the Cod could have been seasoned better. The service was nothing special so I give it 3 stars.

Fish and chips can usually be hit and miss. Not with Sutton & Sons. Great portions and crispy fish. Breaded whitebait, and battered cod roe and fish cakes were also bursting with flavour. Chips could be a tad less oily and crisper. But overall solid delivery.

Second week in a row now the food has been awful. Been a loyal fan for years both going to the shop and buying online. Last week the chips where undercooked and some a little hard. This week took 45/50 mins from placing the order to getting it delivered. X2 regular chips 1 there were hardly any chips and mainly scraps so my partner gave me some of his. Both portions still undercooked. We also ordered 5 chicken tenders that usually come in a longer branded box. What we go was a smaller branded box with 7 tiny bits of I would say chicken but more like shredded chicken if that with mainly just breadcrumbs with hardly any chicken inside. They used to be big and tasted amazing but now just fried bread crumbs with a shred of chicken. The 1 sausage we got was undercooked and pink inside. Absolutely disgusting and disappointed as suttons and sons Essex roads food used to be so much better than this. The reason we stopped going into the shop was due to the loud music and because of the loud music had to repeat our order multiple times. Honestly Sutton and sons have really gone down hill and for the price you would expect better quality and service. Never ordering again after this.

Excellent vegan options - best chips in town. I’ve been living in Islington for near two decades and this place never fails. Today I went in just to get chips and asked for fresh ones- they put in a new batch and asked me to wait a few minutes- not making me feel bad etc. This is what makes me keep coming back to this place- the staff are the main asset here. They make you feel really comfortable and serve you the freshest of foods. Thank you . Keep up the great work- the chips were very hot but amazing 🤩

Bonnie Gull Seafood Shack is a charming spot in Fitzrovia, offering a seaside-themed dining experience. The restaurant serves freshly-caught seasonal fish and seafood, with a focus on fastidiously fresh seafood from Britain. Diners can expect classic dishes like oysters, fishcakes, and battered haddock, as well as innovative chef's specials depending on the day's catch. The cozy atmosphere and attention to detail make for an inviting dining experience.
Order Parthilly Rock Oyster, pickled herring and mussels as starters. We love the herring, I first had this in Amsterdam and this surely is better! The mussel is good as well but not much surprise. Then we had the last fish and chip of the night! After us they ran out and it is just 7pm! The fish is so fresh, very crispy as well. It gives some awesome crunchy sound when I knock it with my fork! It also keep its crunchiness after we have taken many photos and let it rest for couple minutes. Overall, good quality food with reasonable price. Highly recommended.

Every dish was delicious & well presented. Small plates of well prepared fish & seafood with amazing sauces. The staff were very welcoming, friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. The restaurant is quite small but not cramped. I would highly recommend this restaurant and I will definitely return.

Lovely little place. It is small but you can sit comfortably. The food is extraordinary and fresh, I liked that you could see on the wall where the food came from. The highlights for us was the langoustines, dory, tartare and the lemon merengue. The staff and service is wonderful, friendly and helpful. We ordered clams but they were a bit sandy and they took it off the menu, which is really fair to me. The sauces are amazing, like plate licking good... Would definitely go back.

A lovely little restaurant with great service and, if possible, even better food. We loved the little touches like the blackboard map on the wall indicating where the fresh catches for the day came from. I especially enjoyed the cullen skink croquettes to start and the fish n chips - the haddock was beautifully flaky and mushy peas delicious as well.

Eating in this place was a pleasant experience. You can either sit in side or outside, being outside is much better. Food was amazing in terms of quality and look. Prices a bit high but it's seafood so there is no surprise, around 3 pounds for one oyster, good you could choose if you want whole crab or half , definitely half is enough, not everyone can eat lots of crab meat and not get bored with same taste, but it was delicious and getting out crab meat from shell was quite of a challenge, clums were very well prepared :) Overall I liked it!!!

Kerbisher & Malt in Shepherds Bush offers a modern twist on traditional British fish 'n' chips in a trendy, contemporary setting. The restaurant has a cool and modern vibe, with classic menu options that still make you feel at home. Customers praise the high quality of the fish 'n' chips, with options like haddock available. The restaurant also offers its own craft pale ale and calamari with sweet chili sauce for those looking for something different.
Best fish n chips I've had. I miss it as am often out the UK. Pub fish n chips is common n often v good. This is better and offers more than cod Inc my fave - haddock. Other reviews refer to small portions, tasteless chips which has not been my experience at the hammersmith/brook green place at all. Perhaps they've had a deep review and upped their game. They also have their own name beer, some craft pale ale. 6th Oct 2016

If you like the smallest portion of fish, in a snazzy little box and want to pay a premium for it, then this is the place for you. If you want a proper portion of excellent quality fish and chips at a good price, then travel about half a mile down the road to Pitshanger lane and visit the Blue Ocean, or Andy's quality Fish in Northfields. Both serve some of the best fish and chips in the borough, if not London. The fish at Kerbisher & Malt was okay, the batter was crispy, but under seasoned, the chips were average to say the least, but my biggest gripe was the portion of cod, it should be sold as cod bites its that small.
West L — Google review
Traditional fish n chip presented in a contemporary style restaurant format. My favorite here is the calamari with sweet chilli sauce. Food quality is good and there is a cheap option of small fish n chip that costs just a fiver. Drinks are a bit pricey but there is always the option of water. Clean, well presented.

Love this place, we like to sit by the window with a beautiful view of the historic town hall. The chips are wonderfully crunchy, and I like the matzo instead of regular batter as it's a bit lighter. They also have a nice selection of local beer.

Disappointing for a very costly fish and chips. We got a take away, they didn't ask if we wanted salt & vinegar. The batter was nice but their was not a lot of fish meat. The chips were like oven chips, not real chip shop chips.

This is a quintessential fish and chips restaurant in London. Great atmosphere great service and equally great food. We got that deep fried fish and chips and prawn salad. My idea are coming from the US and prawns. I was expecting it from the cocktail. We received a small cup with two pieces of bread, buttered, and small prawns and an extremely good sauce. The fish and chips were outstanding. The fish was done perfectly and of course the chips were crispy and creamy service was spot on and very welcoming. I highly recommend this fish and chips restaurant as a destination stop if you’re in the Camden area of London and even if you’re not hop on the tube, there’s a couple stops away from anywhere.

The food at this restaurant is excellent — no complaints there. However, the kitchen seems to prepare the same dish differently every time, which points to either a lack of attention to detail or no consistent standard for all guests. Attached are two photos of the exact same meal on different visits — one came with salad and ketchup, the other didn’t. A small thing, maybe, but consistency is part of the experience.

The premises was clean, staff very welcoming, and they can even do your chips extra crispy which made me smile when I heard the customer in front of me request that. It was delicious and stayed hot in temperature down to the last chip. Baring in mind it took 30 minutes to finish the whole thing ( Regular chips: costing £3) I really enjoyed your food, thank you.

I really wanted to like this place, but unfortunately, the experience was disappointing. The fish was very dry — like very dry — and had no flavor at all. The chips were okay, but nothing special. The service also felt off; the waitress seemed quiet and a bit uninterested, like it was a hassle to serve us. I do think the place has potential with some serious improvements in both food quality and customer service. I’m leaving this feedback in the hope that it helps the team grow. But overall, I wasn’t happy with the experience.

We went as a group of 6 as our granddaughter requested fish and chips for her birthday. No one else there when we arrived so can't really comment on atmosphere. Ladies were welcoming, friendly and helpful. We were given time to settle and look at the menu, which was nice. The food was lovely, fresh and very tasty. Great choice including many options that were not fish; pies, katsu curry. My daughter took a cake up there and they prepared it with candles and played a happy birthday song when we said we were ready for desert. Very happy granddaughter. Venue is all on one level and it was accessible for me (I walk with crutches) Great evening , great food, happy family

Got multiple items in the order wrong! That’s the main issue! Ordered through Deliveroo and the fish was not the fish I ordered. I ordered a regular haddock only to get what I believe was regular cod. Now, I’m not a fish expert, but I’ve had enough fish and chips over my time to be able, I believe, to tell the difference. Haddock usually has a slightly sweet taste and isn’t as flaky as cod. Cod tends to be more mild and breaks apart more easily. And what I got definitely seemed more like cod. To be fair to the restaurant, the price difference was nothing both cost £12.75 on Deliveroo and the quality, I thought, was decent. The fish was cooked perfectly, no complaints there. But still, I can’t give it top marks when it wasn’t the correct fish. Secondly, the gravy was very watery and also incorrect. I ordered onion gravy, not just gravy. And I received just standard gravy. Again, we’re talking about minor issues, but I think it matters. Unlike the fish, which had redeeming qualities (because it was cooked very well), the gravy was very basic. You could tell it wasn’t homemade very watery and probably from a packet or tub. Now, don’t get me wrong, the gravy wasn’t bad or unpleasant, but it was extremely watered down and clearly not homemade. Not worth £2.50 at all. Considering it wasn’t the best and wasn’t homemade, I’d say it was probably worth only £1 or £1.50 at most. £2.50 for this sort of gravy is simply overpriced. Then coming onto the chips but chips were good to a large extent but slightly, ever so slightly, on the hard side. Could’ve done with just 30–40 seconds more cooking time. But honestly, chips seemed like the best thing in the meal. My drink and peas were nothing amazing, but it was Coke and peas to be fair, I wouldn’t expect anything crazy there. Both perfectly fine and acceptable. Scores! Fish: Had I ordered the cod, I would’ve given it a 4.5/5 or close to a 5. It was cooked very nicely. But I didn’t order cod. I ordered haddock. That’s got to be at least 1 mark removed. So, 3.5 out of 5. Onion Gravy (main side/dipping sauce): Going to be harsh here but 2 out of 5. Not only wrong, but watery, and clearly not homemade. Chips: 4 out of 5. I think the chips were good and yes, could’ve done with that 30–40 seconds longer, but they were still nice, soft and fluffy with a good outer coating. Speed my order arrived: 3 out of 5. Food was prepared and got here quickly, but maybe too quick? Was it properly verified before being handed to the delivery partner? Clearly not, as the fish wasn’t what I ordered and the gravy was also wrong. And let’s say maybe the restaurant didn’t have the items in stock and that’s no excuse. No phone call was made by the restaurant to check if the substitutes were acceptable. I think that’s important because it shows a lack of care. What if I was allergic to cod? I’m not, but that’s not the point. People can be allergic to different things in food and in life in general, and it’s the restaurant’s duty to follow the order correctly and fulfil it correctly. If they can’t, then it’s their responsibility to either substitute correctly or check with the customer first. So that’s why I am giving that a 3 out of 5. Yes, it got to me quick, was warm and arrived in good condition, but I can’t ignore glaring issues. Overall these things knock it down a lot. Overall = 12.5 out of 20 Average = 3.1 out of 5 Not the worst experience, but definitely frustrating when basic order accuracy is missing. Could’ve been much better with just a little more care.

I have been coming to this place for a long time. They serve some of the best fish and chips in London in my opinion! You can sit in, takeaway or get a delivery. The restaurant is lovely to sit in, though it can get very busy with coach tours and cab drivers. The staff are lovely, the food is really nice and the portions are generous. I visit regularly and I still love it though there has been some changes to the menu and some of my favourite dishes are no longer there. Would definitely recommend.

Their take away lunch deal 8,50 GBP for fish and chips is an excellent value! The fish was fried to order which resulted in 10 mins waiting time. Nice portion, plenty of fries.

This is my go to place for fish and chips North of the River Thames, the food is delicious and hard to beat and the value is excellent, especially with their lunch time deals. My go to is the fish burger which is always freshly prepared and well cooked. Most places you go you either get good fish and odd chips, or decent chips and odd fish. This is one of the few places that manages to do both well. I've never tried them, but they also do a wide selection of pies and other alternatives. The only reason I've given it 4 stars and not five is because when you dine in, I feel you get much a significantly smaller portion of chips for your money. For that reason alone, I prefer to take out and sit in the park nearby, though that gets a little trickier in winter meaning I visit less frequently which is good for my sixty-six pack anyway.

I’m so glad I stopped here! I had fish and chips and a meat pie left for my main English dishes I wanted to try, and this place popped up. I told the lady what I was looking for and she said she’d do the fish and chips and add what we meat pie I wanted. I asked for her suggestion and she said the minced meat and onion, and it sounded good to me. When the food came out, it looked amazing. The breading on the fish was light and crispy, and the fish was flaky and delicious. The chips (fries for my fellow Americans) were thick cut and crispy. The meat pie was my favorite. The way the bake it in the dough, and the perfect texture offset by the flavorful filling was just fantastic. I also ordered their baby squid as a recommended appetizer and it was meh. Not worth the price. Just chewy and flavorless. My main problem overall is the lack of seasoning. I think it’s a general English thing, but the food just doesn’t have seasoning on it. I was told later by a couple friends that you add your own salt and pepper to taste. I’m Hispanic and I’m used to the core 4 being in almost all dishes (aside from additional seasonings), onion powder, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. But the food was cooked to perfection and delicious (except the squid, not worth the cost). Definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for meat pies or fish and chips!

Seafood restaurant
Fish House is a contemporary seafood restaurant with a chippy vibe, featuring green-glass tables and white bevelled tiled walls. It's a popular spot in Stoke Newington, run by a family with a fishmonger shop on the same street. The menu offers excellent crisp-battered fish, fluffy chips, homemade pickles, and tartar sauce. In addition to its traditional offerings, Fish House also provides a whole vegan menu at all locations.
I have been here multiple times as it’s a great option and perfect to grab when going to Victoria Park. I always opt for the fish and chips which are perfectly fried and the fish has the perfect crisp to it, with good quality cod inside. I have on one occasion not been satisfied with their fish and chips as the chips were over fried. However, I look past this as this over a year ago and a one time occurrence for me. The tartar sauce is one of my fave homemade ones I’ve had. I really enjoy this with my meal. The small potion has the perfect size fish, and the chips are quite a lot for one person so I always share this. I think it’s worth the price. My husband has tried the new chicken options on their menu and isn’t pleased with the burger, as he says the batter is not crispy as it should be in a chicken burger. My review is based on what I have which are the fish and chips.
Henna B — Google review
My favourite fish and chip shop! Delicious cod and chips. Wonderfully crispy batter and good quality chips with crispy bits. I love this place both for eating in and takeaway and I happily travel more than half an hour to go there rather than closer places. Much less expensive than my trendy local fish and chip shop. I couldn’t reccomend more!

Sooo sad to see fish house closing! We went there craving fish & chips, only to find out they’re shutting down. Huge thanks for all the great meals, please let us know if you make a comeback!

Suddenly really expensive but like all other chip shops in that respect. Always good quality and gluten-free batter is a rare treat! New chicken idea is a solid addition.
Liv G — Google review
Genuinely disappointed. This place is always rammed packed outside; I got the impression that the food must be amazing - especially considering the expensive prices. I’ve tried three meals here and on all occasions I’ve felt ripped off. £16 for calamari and chips. Calamari is £12 but tastes like cheap car tyres sprinkled with too much salt. I’ve had better tasting calamari at £9 elsewhere. The fries - no exaggeration - are disgusting. I ate three out of the entire box and the rest went in the bin. My even mum tried one and spat it out. These are £4 fries! Both the fat chips/fires taste like the cheapest possible potato was used. The time before this, I got saveloy and chips. The saveloy - I couldn’t even finish it. Went straight the bin, again. It was just mushy and tasteless, and again, for just saveloy and chips it was overpriced at around £11/12. The the first time I came here, I had cod and chips. It taste like they have invested so much into a high-quality cod but have opted for cheaper ingredients on everything else. The cod here is delicious! After this third attempt, it’s sad to say I will not buy from here again. It’s a complete rip-off for the poor quality of food. Seriously, I get better taste at my local fish and chips for way less money. On a positive note, the customer service here is always very friendly and pleasant though! So thumbs up for that!
Karis M — Google review
I've not been here for a while but remember flawless service and excellent fish & chips, it looks like it's under new ownership, the food was good not great like it used to be, I also ordered calimari and never received it. The overall service was good and it is a nice restaurant in an excellent location. The place is always packed for take away but I was ok getting seating inside today, it costs a few more £ to sit inside which I didn't mind paying. My fish & chips along with mushy peas cost £15.
Ash F — Google review
Excellent fish and chips. Crisps fish and crispy chips , fluffy on the inside. One portion was enough to share as a light lunch between 2. We got a takeaway and took it to the park nearby. The eat in prices are quite expensive but takeaway prices very reasonable.
Zaen J — Google review
I've been coming to this restaurant for quite a few years as a takeaway customer and travelling 3 miles home with my food as the food is outstanding! On this occasion, we decided to have a meal in the restaurant and it's the first time I've eaten there since becoming vegetarian and once again I wasn't disappointed 😀 There's a good selection of vegetarian options including Banana Blossom 🌸 which was amazing! It was the first time I've tried Banana Blossom and I'm going to be making it at home as a fish alternative - thanks for opening the doors and my mind to the possibilities. In my experience the food at the Fish House has always been great with queues normally outside the door on Fridays and Saturday evenings - often you'd see a minibus 🚐 of police officers pull up and grab their dinner. There's a pub next door with Victoria Park across the road and a good selection of independent shops and restaurants that make up the parade. Staff are very attentive, helpful and friendly.

Ken's Fish Bar, located in Herne Hill, South London, has gained worldwide fame after being featured on the Netflix series Somebody Feed Phil. The crispy and exceptionally potatoey chips have become a highlight for visitors. The family-owned business is run by Ken's two sons who have taken on their father's Anglicized first name. Customers praise the light and airy cod and perfectly crisp and tasty chips. Visitors also appreciate Ken's friendly service and fresh cooking equipment that ensures high-quality food.
Best chip shop I've ever visited. Hadn't been here for 17 years until today. I was curious to see if Ken's was still as good as when I regularly visited back in the 2000s. The chips were absolutely brilliant, just as I remembered them. Place has had a refurb since 2008 and Ken has sadly passed away, there's a photograph of him on the wall. Only had chips, as it was lunchtime and I was pleased to see that vegetarian options are available now. I only had chips though as they are filling enough for me at midday. Ken's is still the best in London, or indeed anywhere!

Took me an hour to travel there via public transport. It’s a nice little family owned place. Fish and chips were freshly fried and fresh. It was nice to get a break from the crowded touristy areas selling fish and chips for sure! Remember to bring cash though as they do not accept cashless payments. They do not provide tartar sauce (additional purchase at 1.50 pounds) or ketchup sauce sadly

Hands down an amazing place for fish and chips. I took a train down from London just to visit them for a nice piece of cod with chips. Massive portions, freshest fish and definitely generous servings of chips. I struggled to finish my bag. A true gem!

Never had a bad meal from here. Fresh fish and decent size portions. However I did come here after my run, queued up and was disappointed that I was unable to order as they only accept cash, which I did not have, leaving hungry. This should be looked at by management then it will definitely get 5 stars

Cod and chips was pretty nice. The fish was definitely better than the chips - crisp outside and tender inside. The chips were a bit oily and not as crunchy as I like. The tartare sauce was pretty average - tasted more like mayo and was a bit sour. Overall this is pretty good quality for London

Great food. I loved how you can see the story of the place from the photos on the walls. And had a general feel that this isn't just a fish and chip shop but someone's legacy. As someone who also lost their dad last year I found it touching to see the photos. It was extremely busy and I did have quite a wait and I didnt realise till I got home id been short changed by £10 as I handed a £20 note. But it was busy. So I recommend not being so happy to have food you dont count your change.

The family-run establishment has over 35 years of experience and is known for its stellar plate of golden goodness, including cod, skate, haddock, and plaice with chips. They have won the Good Food Prestigious Award for their fish and chips. With a cozy and family-friendly environment, it's a favorite local spot with great quality food and friendly staff.
This is the best chippy I had in London. The serving is big firstly. I ordered Cod and sweet potato fries and mushy peas. The crispiest sweet potato fries. The cod is cooked to perfection. No greasy aftertaste. Overall great place. Will definitely be back. Nice and cozy ambience despite it being small.

Cute and cozy little fish shop. Had the large cod and a sampler platter. Loved the cod, so crispy and fresh. The calamari was my favorite from the sampler, super tender and dipped it in the sweet chili sauce. Very nice and quick service. Reservations recommended since it is a small shop.

Cutely themed fish & chips shop with lovely staff, fantastic fish & chips and cozy atmosphere. This is the best fish & chips I've had, light crispy batter with skin-on cod makes for a rich, crispy experience. The chips are lightly fried with a proper texture all around. We also ordered a side salad which had a great acidic dressing to help cut through the main dish.

The fish and chips I had was delicious! They’re definitely one of my top 10 favourite fish and chips place. I really appreciate the tartar sauce that was given too. The restaurant was lovely, but the only downside was that it was quite small. But hey, that made it feel super cosy and intimate, which was great!

FishWorks is a modern seafood restaurant located in the heart of the West End, offering a classic maritime-inspired ambiance with elegant decor. The restaurant prides itself on serving up the catch of the day and more from its onsite fishmonger. Guests can enjoy a pre- or post-theatre seafood feast, indulging in dishes such as lobster thermidor, whole Devon crab, and fruit de mer platters. The menu also features crowd-pleasing options that impress diners.
It was a Friday afternoon and we had a very late lunch at 4pm. The signboard said they have the best fish and chips. Having just arrived in London, I was very keen to have this so I walked in. In summary, the waiting staff were all very hospitable. Food was great. We had fish and chips, and a seared yellow fin tuna. Flavour was spot on and I enjoyed every mouthful. Nothing is perfect and if I had to pick on something, I would say the chips could be a little more crispy and the tuna would be a bit more medium rare. Again I’m more the happy with the food the way it is. 10/10 for service 9.5/10 for food 9/10 for atmosphere This place is well worth a try. I’m not disappointed and I hope you won’t be too.
William T — Google review
Nice atmosphere, fresh and delicious food, although the flavours are not anything special in the dishes we ordered, but most importantly, the seafood is fresh. The oysters are cooked perfectly, but I would have preferred seared in olive oil, butter, and lemon garlic rather than covered in breadcrumbs. The salmon steak was a respectable piece and delicious. Prawn was not served correctly, was not peeled properly, and had to be handled in the least suitable way.

Very nice seafood place! Well decorated on the inside with open spaces, very clean, did not feel crowded. The music was just at the right level, perfect for a nice conversation. I had the oysters, and they were delicious. Then we tried their fish and chips and it was just perfect, light and not too heavy. Shoutout to Maisie who was very welcoming and kind offering us help with our choices and always had a smile on. Of course we had to end things with a fresh lemon pie and well… totally worth it.

Lovely restaurant with great food and service in a great location for theatres and covent garden. We took the fish and chips and it did not disappoint! Fresh and nicely presented. Even the mushy peas had a tasty twist of mint. The decor is especially inviting too.

FishWorks**** The restaurant has a very pleasant atmosphere and the service is very attentive. The staff is very ready to serve and help. It was easy to get a table, and the food was excellent. It's a seafood place, and the fish and seafood were super fresh. One of the dishes we ordered was also very well seasoned. We had a Chardonnay, and the wine option was good and reasonably priced. The cost was around 70 pounds per person, and I highly recommend a visit.

We had a lovely lunch in Fishworks Covent Garden. The frito misto and grilled fish platter were both lovely. Good portions of super tasty fresh fish. The lemon tart with strawberry ice cream dessert was a lovely way to finish the meal. The staff are friendly and helpful, the young lady from Puglia who looked after us was great. If you like fresh fish you will love Fishworks, we had a really great lunch here and highly recommend.

The quality has gone down… I was here for my birthday meal but was disappointed form the moment we walked in, it was before the busy peak time but we were stood there at the door without any greeting from the staff waiting for a long time to be served. Whole service was less attentive. The air con not working made the whole experience worse as well….it was so hot it was uncomfortable and couldn’t enjoy the meal in a 30 degree weather. The food. The stew was my favourite thing but the flavour wasn’t there and it was super watery then what I remember. The depth of flavour wasn’t there… Even the side dishes wasn’t up to the standard like the last time. The broccolini and new potato wasn’t as good as last time. Maybe this particular branch is bad compared to the other ones we went to… Won’t be coming back here,I’m sorry

Real fish & chips shop feeling. Small tables, big portions and great service. We popped in for a late lunch and it was the right choice. The fish was crisp, the chips was equally excellent. They leave the so fashionable nonsense of peas and mayonnaise (you can probably ask for these and more, if you don't feel ashamed of yourself for that) and serve the dish with salt and vinegar. I don't know whether they sell the best fish & chips, as thes advertise, but it was definitely one of best I've had.

We enjoyed everything from the service, through the food and to the vibe. My grilled cornish skate with fried buttered capers was amazing and I was able to substitute the mashed potatoes for this wonderful tomato salad. My son said his steak was the best, even though it was a seafood restaurant. And my husband liked his salad and the sticky toffee pudding. Definitely would come again.

Exceptional food and service. We were served by Shona who was alert and incredibly diligent in filling glasses when needed enquiring as to our needs and completely unassuming. starters a dozen oysters and whitebait with two bottles of Stellenbosch white wine, two double calvados dessert drinks and two coffee liquors. The halibut, baked squid and baked wild fish and sides were of the highest quality, cooked well and tasted fantastic. Price was good if you factor in the oysters and drinks. Highly recommended

I was walking around Borough Market but found no where to sit and the food looked great in the market. So I decided to come here and have a dozen oysters and some champagne and it was honestly a lovely lunch. Easy and fast seating and was such a relief to get out of the crowds of the market. the good was exceptional. The sea Bream I changed with spinach and not white cabbage. The oysters were a treat. Highly recommended and not sure why this restaurants rating is so low. Staff were very polite and attentive.

First time I ever tried fish and chips, and it’s actually not bad. The fish was moist and the batter was crunchy with a light beer flavor. Chips were gorgeous and fluffy. The portion was huge, way bigger than I imagined so it’s best to share for 2. The place got crowded quickly and they have limited outdoor seats, so arriving early helps.

Really liked this place and can recommend it. The decor is nice, the service is extremely professional and friendly and the food is good. If you feel like a fish and chips are not too hungry, go for the special offer which is the dish I went for. Next time I will try a more specific fish and chip dish. We also tried the sticky toffee pudding and apple pie - well worth it but be careful as the apple pie has spices similar to the Christmas’s mood wine spices.

Great gluten free and regular fish and chips! The batter on the fish was nice, thin, and crispy. The fish was moist and nicely done. The chips were well cooked and crunchy. Separate fryer for gluten free vs regular fish and chips as well. Only complaint is that both fish and chips could have had more salt, but they definitely got the cook on them right.

Average chippy with prices on the higher side that reflects the location. Few good things: - Good drinks selection - Child-friendly - Double-fried chips Some others not so goid: - Food generally quite greasy (I know is a fish&chips, but...) - Soup very watery lacking depth & flavour. - very small

Amazing fish. Lightly battered like tempura. Not super oily. £15 meal deal good value. Pleasing interior and great location off the beat track keeps this place reasonable quiet. Chips are delicous and super chunky.

Had a lovely meal here, staff were attentive and friendly with the customers. If you were looking for standard chippy - this is not one, it’s a proper wine & dine restaurant. Wouldn’t mind getting take away/ delivery if I lived closer. Starters: Mussels were perfectly cooked and delicious. You can taste a hint of the beer base sauce, not overwhelming and nicely complemented the mussels. I would probably ask for a finger bowl though. Side: Chip - good chunky triple cooked chips, can’t complain as they were tasty; fluffy inside and crunchy outside. Main: Hake with freekeh and tomatoes - really nice combination. Compliments each other and hake was perfectly cooked. Thank you. Would come again if in the area or visit the Soho branch.

Fish Lounge, located in Brixton, is a popular spot known for its gluten-free Mondays and delicious fish and chips. In addition to the regular fish options, they also offer chicken, burgers, and pies. The food is served in generous portions and wrapped in grease-proof newspaper. Customers rave about the fluffy chips and tasty accompaniments like curry dip and mushy peas. The chips were lovely as well, and the mushy peas were a nice liquidy substance, not a dried mush, and the portion was generous, and i had a Coke zero. All in all, it was a very nice meal. It seems to me to becoming rare to find a fish & chip restaurant, let alone a good one, and this one I highly recommend.

I was tempted to go to the Fish Lounge, because in 2024 this place was named best fish&chips shop in the whole UK. As far as I'm concerned this place earned it! Cod and fries with tartar sauce were delicious! Portions are generous and fairly priced. Last but not least - super friendly service. I recommend visiting this place to fish&chips lovers.

Impeccable cod. The lunch menu was a steal. £14.5 for a huge fish with large portions of chips and soda/coffee/tea. Plus side is the staff is so sweet. Thanks for teaching us the high five, low five and baby five. Will return if we stop by London again.

Best fish&chips ever! We came there few days ago and enjoyed fresh fish cooked when you order it. Mushy peas was so delicious and the waitress was so kind with us !

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ The best fish and chips I’ve had in London! 🐟🍟 The fish was so fresh, perfectly crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The chips were golden and just right. The portion was big and very filling. The sauces on the side were also delicious. The place has a warm atmosphere and the staff are really friendly. A must-try spot for anyone visiting London – highly recommended!

The best chips I have ever had in London!!! They fried them after I ordered. It was so nice and fresh. Chicken leg was delicious with thin and crispy skin.

Both the cod and haddock were exquisite. The fish was perfectly cooked with a great texture. I completely understand why this place was voted the best fish and chip shop in the UK. The service is very friendly too. I will definitely return.

We have been there once to get takeaway fish and chips. The fish was freshly cooked, but not drained before being wrapped, so was very oily when it was unwrapped. It tasted like it was cooked in palm oil, and I didn't like the taste of the oil they used. The fish and batter itself was very tasty apart from being too oily. The fish seemed a generous size, but the large chips was a smaller portion than we get from other fish and chip shops, and we're very pale and possibly on the undercooked side, although I have to concede this is probably a matter of personal taste. The chips were large and chunky which was nice. The service was friendly and efficient.

Cod Fellas, a family-run business in Peckham since 2008, offers a diverse menu featuring traditional options like cod and haddock alongside unique dishes such as salt and pepper squid and tempura prawns. The establishment is known for its amazing vegan fish and chips, drawing praise from both vegans and non-vegans alike.
Excellent if you're vegan and missing proper fish and chips - they do battered tofish with seaweed base, delicious, forget about craving real fish after this. Great size for the price too. Cypriot salad was also delicious, zingy fresh dressing and good ingredients. You can sit inside or outside and there's nice decor, servers were lovely too and they do good bottled wines and beers as well!

Delightful truly british fish and chips. Outstandingly kind owner. Makes hot, crisp fish to order. The size was excellent. Texture was flake and light. Exactly what you expect from both the cod and the haddock. Fresh and not fishy.

With a great atmosphere as I spend time threre drawing as well as reading I such a calm and happy relaxed company the food is always fresh and superbly cooked. Fladda Fish & Chips is a popular spot in South London known for its delicious and generous portions of fish and chips. After experiencing some initial equipment issues, the restaurant has reopened with improved quality. Customers can choose to dine in or take away, enjoying crispy batter, plump white cod, and perfectly fried chips. While some find it a bit pricey, others appreciate the decent value for the high-quality food served.
We had a lovely meal here and excellent service. The mushy peas with mint were especially good, the fish was moist and beautifully battered. I prefer my chips fried a little darker but they were crisp and all in all it was a wonderful experience. Highly recommend.

Dined in here with my partner and loved every minute of it. The inside seating was nice and intimate. We ordered cod and chips with a side of curry sauce, mushy peas and a bread roll, all of which was cooked to perfection. If I’m ever in the area again I will be back for sure

No longer visiting. Have been going for 5 years and it has been an amazing restaurant in Camberwell. Unfortunately, due to their recent change in ownership, the place has gone downhill. Staff are rude and food is at an all time low. While visiting today, I firstly saw the staff clicking and shouting at an elderly lady who didn’t realise her order was ready. I found it extremely rude. Secondly, they only accept cash. (Seems like a huge money laundering or tax evasion scheme to me.) Also, my daughter had to cancel her order after realising she had no cash, bear in mind they hadn’t started making the food yet so it didn’t matter. One of the workers then flapped and swatted her away like a fly and told her to get out. She is 15, struggling with anxiety and this was a terrible experience for her. We went to Francesco’s instead and got delicious pizzas (£5/each). If you want good customer service, avoid Fladda and go to Francesco’s.

Sadly, this is no longer an option. I've loved this place for over ten years and came often. Too often maybe. The most recent change in ownership unfortunately lost the skill of how to fry a decent fish & chips. Fish are small now, covered in thick, soggy batter and the chips are doughy and pale. Gave them the benefit of the doubt after the first couple of disappointments but it's getting worse every week. Not even for tourist any more.
Ja M — Google review
Fish and chips were very nice, good portion , light batter on the fish and the chips fried to order . The peas were a bit unseasoned , coleslaw ok. It felt a bit expensive overall.
Alexander G — Google review
This is my favorite fish & chips in London - they sprinkle fried batter scraps into the batter creating a crunch like shattered glass.
Jeffrey M — Google review
Used to love this place! Found myself in the area last week and was excited to visit again for dinner. I was surprised when I walked in and saw a sign saying that now they only accept cash for payment. The staff pointed us to an atm nearby in a rather rude and abrupt manner, but nobody in the group had a wallet as all payments these days go through the phone anyway. Sad to see a once decent place resort to such tactics to avoid tax.

Kerbisher & Malt is a modern take on the classic fish and chip shop, with multiple locations in West and South London. It's described as a contemporary outpost for fish and chips, offering a trendy atmosphere and ample seating. The restaurant has been praised for its ability to blend the beloved British dish with a stylish twist, earning accolades from notable figures like Heston Blumenthal.
Wonderful fish and chips! We actually ordered some extra fish after to split amongst ourselves. The batter was light and crispy and the cod was wonderful. The chips were very nice and their tartar was different from what we were used to, but very flavorful and tasty. All in all a great meal.

Very tasteful fish & chips The sauce is awesome But the rest could be a little bit more salty Great value for the price anyway :)
Soulight — Google review
Hugely disappointing and so overpriced for what they serve; the chips tasted like they came straight from a frozen bag that you could pick up from a supermarket. The saving grace from a one-star review is that the battered sausage was reasonable, the service was good and the atmosphere in Market Hall was great.
James A — Google review
the fish was absolutely delicious. the batter was delicate, the fish so fresh and soft and piping hot. the fries were so so. the calamari had a small portion size, and were a little too salty.
Joy G — Google review
Kerbisher & Malt has made its name providing Londoners with good old, new-fashioned local chippies serving fresh-off-the-boat fish, proper chips and mushy peas. This little, counter-based K&M in Victoria Market Halls is no exception. The fish flakes apart in great, succulent foliations. The batter is crispy without falling foul of the recent fashion for mouth-scouring crunchiness. The chips, similarly, are both excellent and reassuring — like something from an idealised childhood.
Adam B — Google review
Went to get some chips to go. Had to wait about 5 minutes which was ok I thought at least it would be fresh. Unfortunately I didn’t taste the chips until I was on my way home. They were underdone and inedible. ended up having to throw most of the chips away, which was a terrible waste.

Borough Market is a historic and bustling food market located under the railway lines near London Bridge. It has been a part of London's culinary scene since the 12th century and has experienced a recent revival, making it one of Europe's top foodie destinations. With its Victorian architecture and over 100 stalls, the market offers a wide variety of goods, including British-reared meat, artisanal baked goods, dairy products, fresh produce, charcuterie, cheeses, chocolates, and more.
Fantastic selection of bakes, cheeses, and all kinds of delicious food! It can get touristy and crowded on some days, but that didn’t stop me from enjoying the experience. My favorite was the pork sausage roll from one of the stalls - absolutely worth it. The lavender drink was refreshing (though a bit of daylight robbery 😅), and both the risotto and gelato were really good too.

It’s such a fun place for tourists. We had the chocolate covered strawberries which were incredible but expectedly very overpriced. We also tried the viral crème brule donuts i liked it not too sweet. The paella was fine nothing crazy though. The area around it is also nice to walk around. They had options for halal food as well. Definitely worth the visit if you get the chance.

Tried the Black Pig sandwich (the best one!) and it was absolutely delicious. The Mac & Cheese was good too, though not particularly special — plenty of cheese but a bit lacking in seasoning. For dessert, I had the Humble Crumble, which was very good overall, though I expected the crumble itself to be a bit better. The market itself is quite packed, so I’d avoid going with kids in buggies. That said, The Black Pig were fantastic — they made sure parents with children were served at the front, which was such a thoughtful touch. Wish more places did this!

British restaurant
Poppies Fish & Chips is a classic British eatery with a 1950s ambiance, offering both dine-in and takeaway options. The establishment is famous for its authentic fish and chips, overseen by Pat Pop Newland, an East End native deeply rooted in the business since his early years. Poppies boasts an in-house fishmonger, Salih, who meticulously prepares all the fish on-site.
Great deep fried fish and chips with a friendly service. The crust had a more traditional seasoning and was just a bit too oily, but still very good. The chips were also very tasty, with a crunchy exterior but fluffy interior. The waiter patiently explained us the fish options they had and which ones would be a good fit for our tastes, also recommending is to ask for one portion at once to avoid along for to much food - and she was right, I could share one plate with my wife with no problems.

This establishment lives up to its reputation as being a great fish and chip shop. We arrived on a Friday evening and were delighted they could accommodate a table for 4 for us. Food was excellent but the portions are a bit on the smaller side. They could have added a few more chips and more tartare sauce. Food was well cooked and not greasy at all. The service was quick, efficient and friendly
Sandra — Google review
No trip to the UK is complete without dropping by Poppies. This OG fish-n-chips shop serves this classic, and so much more. A personal revelation is the sausage in batter - honestly my fave! Chips were alright, tried it with the curry but was a bit watery for my liking. The cream soda made is so nostalgic, and the sweetness pulls back that grease.
Ruth G — Google review
Not sure if this is a tourist trap as there didn’t seem to be any locals there. Otherwise, the fish was fresh, moist and flaky, had a crispy and thin batter. Chips were alright. The service was friendly. Was a bit confused by the American diner style decorations but perhaps it is due to my poor understanding of history. (We came here as Wicked fish was not open at 1130am.)

A traditional dish, nothing extraordinary, but one of the "acceptable" options to give it a try. I recommend not going on a weekday, as they have a limited menu. The service is slow when it comes to taking orders but quick when it comes to bringing the bill.

Service was prompt and polite on a Wednesday around 6:15pm with no waiting to be seated. I ordered the cream soda to drink and had the haddock fish supper. Food came out fairly quickly and it was absolute perfection and I won't be able to eat fish and chips in America ever again. The fish was perfectly fried and not oily. The batter was a perfect ratio on the fish and nice and crispy. The tartar sauce is made in house and better than the stuff you buy at a store. So happy I came here and highly recommend it!
Imran Z — Google review
I was really disappointed with our experience! We ordered the hot seafood platter, and it was incredibly small. It included only 2 shrimp, 3 pieces of calamari, 3 white fish, and a bunch of little fish. One of the shrimp and one of the white fish didn’t have any meat—just fried dough. I did receive an extra piece of fried fish after I complained, but that wasn't enough to make up for the overall experience. On top of that, it was very expensive; our total for the platter, extra fries, a beer, and a cider came to $60 USD! I would not recommend going there. On a positive note, the server was nice.

I visited this restaurant while exploring the ultimate fish and chips search in London. The staff were friendly, but forgot the mashed peas for my order which would have complimented the meal well. The fish and chips were very good and so was the calamars. I did enjoy the amount and the delicate batter which were very good. A great fish and chips place to visit.

The service was truly amazing — the staff explained the dishes, were friendly, and very quick. The place has charm even though it’s not fancy; it’s more like a fast-food spot, with good music and a cozy atmosphere. They really make you feel at home. As for the food, the fish and chips were decent, though a bit simple — maybe they could use a bit more salt. The chicken burger wasn’t bad but not particularly memorable; it felt more like something homemade. The portion sizes are generous, which is definitely a plus. Overall, a nice experience if you’re looking for casual dining with great service.

We visited for the first time a week ago due to some great reviews. Our experience was not so great. My husband doesn’t eat fish, so he ordered a beef burger. My son and I shared the wholetail scampi and calamari rings since we had fish and chips somewhere else. Service was quick, the restaurant looks nice. The wholetail scampi and calamari rings were great, the burger, not so much. The burger did not seem like it was 100% beef. It was bland and seemed like there were fillers and the texture was strange, it was not good at all. The chips, however were great. We got a sticky coffee pudding for dessert. That was OK, but it felt like it was missing something. The ice cream was good. The strangest part came at the end when my husband went to pay. We pay by card most of the time. Our waiter asked if he could pay with cash. He said he didn’t think so since we didnt have enough. He said he would take American cash. My husband came to me and asked how many pounds I had left. He ended up paying both with card and cash. If you like fish, the fish is good. If you don't like fish, we don't recommend the burgers. If you want to pay by card, they may ask you to pay in cash.

Bentley's Oyster Bar & Grill is a renowned Mayfair establishment offering a mix of lively and sophisticated atmospheres. The downstairs bar is vibrant, while the upstairs restaurant exudes an upscale ambiance. The menu features high-quality seafood, oysters, and grills with unpretentious yet bold flavors. A must-try is their expertly shucked oysters, with the team shucking over 1,000 daily.
I visited in January and absolutely loved everything about this place. The atmosphere is elegant yet cozy, with that classic London charm. The oysters were incredibly fresh – probably the best I’ve ever had – and the seafood overall was simply outstanding. The service was impeccable: friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable. Every detail felt carefully thought out, from the presentation of the dishes to the wine pairing recommendations. This is the kind of place that makes you want to come back again and again. Whether you’re a seafood lover or just looking for a special dining experience in London, Bentley’s is a must! Highly recommend – I’m still thinking about that meal months later!

Perhaps the best meal of our trip. We had to "dine and dash" as we were on limited time for our flight. OH how we'd regret not visiting this place! The fish was perfection, doesn't smell fishy at all, surprisingly many places do. The fries are chunky but still crunchy. The oyster and the beef are amazing as well as ive been told. Its just a hassle to fight the traffic there so ditch the car and walk/tube it.

It was my first time ever in the UK and I heard lots of good recommendations about this place. I’m a very very anxious and introverted person Mainly when I’m alone, but the men behind the counter were so so helpful and patient. I had no Idea what to order so they recommended me different things. They helped me with squishing the lemon as I was struggling with it, which was very helpfull. The Food was really lovely, the customer service is good! I highly recommend this restaurant. I definitely will come again when I visit uk again. Thank you :-)

I went here on a Saturday night, the terrace was buzzing with energy, but we opted to sit inside as we prefer a quieter atmosphere. The live piano music with singing was a delightful touch, I loved that! Now, on to the food, We ordered a ceviche, tuna tartare, oysters (didn’t take a picture) and lobster pasta. The ceviche and tartare were good, it’s not the best I had at this price point but it was still enjoyable. Oysters were a bit on the small side, yet they were tasty. The lobster pasta was decent, but I’m quite particular about my dishes, and it didn’t fully satisfy my craving for a rich lobster flavored sauce. It had more of a strong tomato base but a hint of lobster flavor. However the pasta was cooked al dente and was quite nice! Everything was beautifully presented and clean! They even gave us this place with some small sweets as we mentioned it was our anniversary which was a thoughtful gesture! Overall, I’d recommend this place as the prices are quite reasonable for what it is and I enjoyed my meal here, especially with the live jazz!

Had such a lovely time at Bentley’s, honestly, everything was perfect. The atmosphere is beautiful, relaxed but still feels really special. Service was amazing from start to finish, our waiter was so friendly and attentive, the bartender made a great cocktail. Now the lobster pasta… wow. Absolutely incredible. One of the best things I’ve eaten in a long time so rich, fresh and full of flavour. I’d go back just for that. (and for the dessert) Can’t recommend it enough. Already looking forward to my next visit and some more champagne!!!!

Located next to Shakespeare's Globe Theatre, The Real Greek offers a modern dining experience with a menu featuring updated classic Greek dishes, along with an impressive selection of ouzo and Greek wines. The restaurant provides a taste of authentic Greek cuisine, serving indigenous dishes such as fluffy flatbread instead of pitta and sharing feasts named after the country's provinces. While the menu is dominated by hot and cold mezedes, guests can also enjoy souvlaki wraps, salads, and other extras.
Very reasonable prices. Tasty and fast service! The lamb meatballs wrap was a 10/10 for the taste and price point. 5/5 Update: finally visited the location! Great atmosphere, dim lighting, and I loved the presentation of the food. We ordered wraps and the flatbread for the table (which came with three dips). The prices are more than reasonable and the food is delicious.

We stumbled across this lovely Greek restaurant during a walk and what a delightful surprise it turned out to be! The food was absolutely delicious, everything tasted incredibly fresh and full of flavour. What truly made the experience exceptional was our waitress, Gabi. She was amazing, friendly, and full of smiles. Her energy and kindness made us feel truly welcomed. Highly recommend this place if you're in the area!

This was an amazing, authentic, culinary experience. I’ve had a fair share of Greek food and this was truly exceptional. George is such a vibe! Also they were so kind to give me the golden menu, which basically means the entire day menu was free! That was such a surprise and so sweet of them! Highly recommend!

We visited The Real Greek on Sunday evening after catching a show at the Globe Theatre, arriving around 10 PM when most places were winding down. Despite the late hour, the staff were incredibly welcoming and accommodating. They asked us to wait just a few minutes before securing us a table on the front terrace - what a fantastic result! The location is absolutely spectacular. Sitting on the front terrace offers stunning views across the Thames toward St. Paul's Cathedral and the Millennium Bridge. It's one of those perfect London dining spots where you can watch people strolling by and taking photos against the beautiful riverside scenery. While the interior dining area is nice and spacious, the real magic happens if you can snag one of those coveted front seats with the river view. We kept our order simple with moussaka and spinach pie for starters, followed by chicken and lamb souvlaki, Greek salad, and a couple of Alpha beers. The service was impressively quick - food arrived within minutes of ordering. The souvlaki was definitely the highlight - both the chicken and lamb were very well prepared and flavorful. The Greek salad was fresh with everything nicely cut and presented. I did have some concerns about the moussaka temperature and wasn't entirely sure about the meat mixture, though it was tasty enough and caused no issues. Generally, I would have preferred the food served a bit hotter, but the quality was solid throughout. The Alpha beer was rather plain - we'll definitely try something different from their Greek wine selection next time. At around £65 including tip, the pricing felt fair for the location and London standards, especially considering the prime riverside setting. Perfect spot for a post-theatre dinner with those incredible Thames views making it a memorable London dining experience.

Very calm and friendly atmosphere. Wonderful service from Gabi. The food is simple Greek food but there’s great variety, the ingredients are fresh - even the simple green salad was delicious. For a chain it excels with a family restaurant atmosphere.

Never have I had a more pleasant time in restaurant . The food was delicious !! So the atmosphere 😀 We went to The Real Greek to celebrate our son’s 18th birthday, all staff was so polite and helpful, going above and beyond to make us feel welcome. A HUGE THANKS to you all @ The Real Greek for the wonderful care given to us. Forever repeat customers!”

Looking for Saturday lunch near the Globe; one of the party gluten intolerant. This restaurant had an inviting appearance, the menu was displayed outside. It showed a range of items that appealed and importantly indicated lots of GF options. I chose the Greek plate, belly port option, my companion the grilled octopus with a Greek salad. We shared a carafe, 500 ml, of Mega Spileo Malagousia white. Any allergies were checked for when the order was taken. The food was served in a reasonable time. Portion size was satisfactory. The food immediately look appetising and importantly tasted good. I followed with the filo pastry custard pie and ice cream [advised of the 15 minute wait when I ordered it]. This too was enjoyable. Cost including coffee, considering its London was reasonable at just under £80. Key thumbs up – GF infomation Only minor criticism the wine was very cold when it arrived but that soon warmed up.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Absolutely loved our visit to The Real Greek Bankside! The atmosphere was warm and lively, with a lovely mix of Greek hospitality and modern London vibes. The food was fresh, flavourful, and authentically Greek — the souvlaki and mezze were outstanding, and everything tasted homemade. The staff were friendly, attentive, and made us feel genuinely welcome throughout. Great value for the quality and perfect spot whether you’re after a casual lunch or a relaxed dinner by the river. Can’t wait to come back! 🇬🇷✨

I went for my birthday and had the best fish I've ever had. Started with a dozen oysters and scallops then had the sole and trout which was all cooked and prepared to perfection. You won't find better fish than this.

Got here around 3pm on Sunday, got a table facing the kitchen on the stools. Was fantastic to see the chefs at work, they were careful to make sure our food intolerances were taken care of. Our server was great, unfortunately the lady that was at the front of house was less than friendly or welcoming and had a bit of an attitude but luckily we didn’t have to deal with her beyond asking for a table. Otherwise everything was perfect.

We had a wonderful experience! The oysters were absolutely fresh and delicious — perfectly presented and full of flavor. What really made our visit special was our Colombian waitress, who was incredibly friendly and attentive. She took the time to explain everything to us, from the different types of oysters to the best pairings, and made us feel truly welcome. Excellent service, great atmosphere, and top-quality seafood — we’ll definitely be coming back! 🦪

I discovered Wright Brothers by chance one busy afternoon in London. Since then, it has become a tradition — a place I return to every time I’m in the city, knowing it will deliver an authentic and memorable experience. The seafood is exceptionally fresh, prepared simply yet with a finesse that lets the natural flavours shine. Whether it’s oysters, crab, or a generous sharing platter, every dish lives up to the promise. And the cocktail… unforgettable is the only word that does it justice. Each creation feels carefully crafted to complement the taste of the sea with a vibrant, refined touch. I wholeheartedly recommend this place to anyone looking for an unforgettable culinary experience in the heart of London. Wright Brothers is more than a restaurant — it’s a state of mind.

Sometimes mistakes happen with an order, but what really matters is how a restaurant handles it — and Wright Bros were fantastic. The food was excellent, and while the service was a little slow, it was understandable as the restaurant was very busy. The tuna steak was outstanding.

Super fresh seafood, great vibe and amazing service. The portion was big for the fruit de mer for 2. Perfect place to dine on a summer day as it was super hard for me to eat anything hot and seafood was the perfect choice. If you were to sit near the front, it is great for people watching too, highly recommend getting their bread to go with the food. I will come back.

This was honestly the best fish and chips I’ve had in the England! It really makes a difference to come to a place that knows how to do it right. The batter was super crispy, and the fish was thick and juicy — I was so happy with every bite. Above all, the staff were incredibly kind. They even recommended different sauces, and thanks to their suggestion, I tried the chilli sauce — it was amazing! I’d only ever had curry sauce before, but this was a whole new world for me 😚😚🩷 The portion size was also huge, and the calamari was unbelievably fresh — just perfect. I’ll definitely be coming back every time I visit London! 🩷

Tourist from Canada here, stayed four days in London, this is the only restaurant I have eaten at during my trip and the food was absolutely excellent, however, I ordered a drink which I never received and had to ask for it, and I was never checked on by the staff to see how my meal was, so I had to just go without enough tartar sauce for my fish and chips, I wasn’t about to go out of my way to flag them down. I shouldn’t have to do that. The redeeming quality is that the manager was extremely nice. However, given the fact that there are literally hundreds and hundreds of seafood/fish and chips places all over London, if you are a tourist here looking for a nice place to eat I would recommend giving this one a pass. I guess I should add for context the waitress I had was a tall, black haired, younger lady.

Great place, such friendly staff, and the fish is amazing. The chips could be crispier but both the haddock and the cod were very nice. Portions are good size, if you don't intend to finish the fries though go for the large serving 😀

I have tried a number of fish and chips in the UK and most of them are average. The fish and chips in this restaurant were above average. I wouldn’t say they are very delicious but I believe it is worth to try one. In addition, the coffee here was nice which surprised me. The environment was comfortable and the restaurant was quiet. Plenty of seats and tables provided inside. Nice staff with efficient services. Price was acceptable. Would definitely visit here again.

had an amazing experience with their fish and chips. The atmosphere was cozy and welcoming, setting the stage for a delightful meal. The fish was fresh and perfectly cooked with a crispy, light batter, while the chips were thick-cut, crispy outside, and fluffy inside. The tartar sauce and mushy peas complemented the dish wonderfully. The portions were generous, and the service was friendly and attentive. Overall, The Fish House offered some of the best fish and chips I've ever tasted and is a must-visit for anyone in the UK.

Unfortunately, I can’t say this was the best fish and chips I’ve had during my stay in London. The fish was quite oily and lacked flavor, and the chips tasted old and somewhat stale. Considering the high bill, the overall quality was quite disappointing. I’ve had much better fish and chips elsewhere in the city for a lower price. While the service was courteous, the food simply didn’t live up to expectations.

Chips (fries) are not even crispy. It’s like baked potatoes. There’s no seasoning with the fish and no taste . Avoid this place. They also charge 40p for a small pack of tartar sauce from Heinz.

Visited on a nice quiet day for lunchtime. Servers were kind and polite. The food was quite decent, but if you’re expecting something gourmet then it’s not. Fish was nicely cooked, chips a little bit softer than usual crispy used to, but were good. Calamari bites tasted good.

Ben’s Traditional Fish & Chips is a popular spot known for its classic fish 'n' chips. Located in London, it offers both dine-in and takeaway options. Visitors praise the made-to-order meals with generous portions that are perfect for sharing. While the restaurant only accepts cash, there's an ATM nearby for convenience. Despite some minor issues like poorly maintained restrooms and non-Heinz ketchup, guests appreciate the delicious food and attentive service.
Probably the best fish & chips I’ve had on my trip to London compared to other spots around SoHo. I just ordered their traditional fish & chips with a beer. The fish was fried perfectly and it’s not too battered which I loved. The tartar sauce and mayo was on point. It was a delicious meal and customer service was excellent! I’d definitely come back here again to try their other menu items.

The batter was intensely crispy and light, not greasy at all. Inside, the fish was perfectly cooked—incredibly moist, flaky, and tender, exactly what you hope for in this classic dish. The accompanying chips were golden brown and properly textured, serving as a great side.

Best Fish & Chips in London. Delicious, fast, with service and hospitality that feel very high-end. They source their fish fresh every morning from Billingsgate Market and hand-cut the chips on site. Fun fact: no one really knows who “Ben” is - it adds to the charm of the place!

I always have a poor appetite when traveling, so I can only eat one meal a day. This place was so thankful they added an extra meal for me. This was my first time having British fish and chips, so I didn't have high expectations (other European restaurants were just average). But for someone who needs to eat anything to stay energized, this place and food were like a tonic. I walked in alone around 4:30 PM and was seated without a wait. The white wine was perfect, and everything was simply delicious. The staff were also very friendly. Next time, I'll go for the large! I'll order a larger glass of wine!

Six by Nico London is an Italian restaurant in the heart of London's business district. The restaurant offers six-course themed tasting menus, which change every six weeks, and features delicious cocktails and unusual dishes that might surprise you.
Second visit. This was a spectacular 11 course menu. Great standard of cooking and presentation. Interesting food combinations, and playful ideas - the bio-pack, and the blindfold/headphones wearing risotto course spring to mind. Staff are great, and work very hard. Despite the high level cooking the 'vibe' is more casual dining, so a relaxed atmosphere. Really enjoyed Apollo 11, we will be back for Nutcracker in 6 weeks time.

San Sebastian is one of our favourite places to travel too so seeing this experience pop up, it was a given. The food was excellent, full of flavour and the presentation was fantastic. The croquettes were the star of the show for us. They were a great size, punching flavours and both crunchy on the outside but gloriously soft and delicate inside. The only two points to say were... The fish course, the fish was a little dry and the cheesecake was more a creme brulee. Each course was Nico's take on a speciality you can find there and it was a great menu, one to definitely try. We booked the preview menu, so we got the 6 courses and a welcome drink for a bargain of £39 - amazing value!
Nickin S — Google review
My wife and I visited Six by Nico for the first time at lunchtime to celebrate our wedding anniversary and were hugely impressed. The theme was San Sebastián for the 6 course lunch. We opted for the wine pairing and the food/wine combinations were excellent. We had 6 courses with 3 vegetarian courses followed by Coal Fish and the. Pork Belly finished off with a Basque cheesecake. The food was sensational as was the service. Each course was exquisitely put together and absolutely delicious. The portions are sized correctly so that after 6 courses we were full but not overly. The service was excellent. It was the first day for our waitress but she was very knowledgeable about both each dish but also every wine and why they worked well together. This is a must visit restaurant (we visited Six by Nico on Charlotte Street) and was so impressed that we are visiting again next week for their New York themed menu.

I have visited Six by Nico last week with my son. We had sampled Apollo11 menu and it was delicious. Very well thought through, tasty dishes complementing one another. It was a very flavoursome experience. The highlight of our visit was the staff looking after us, very friendly and attentive. We felt very well cared for.
Malgorzata S — Google review
Very pleasant experience, some really excellent courses, wine pairing spot on. Tortilla a bit disappointing as it wasn't as per the social media and the potato a bit uncooked. However the next 5 course were excellent. Kamille our waiter really looked after us and explained in details each course and the wine pairing too. Tomason was great at front of house, a great welcome and goodbye. The chefs were smiling as i did a video of the kitchen part. Shame I didn't get their names. I came a couple of months ago with some friends and also met Oliver one of the chefs, he was fab. 4 star for ambience as it was really busy so the music that was played was really unnecessary and didn't add anything to the dining room. You could do with some new tables also as they are a bit tired. But a great afternoon thank you all. Some of these dishes did remind me of some of the pinxos that you can get in the historic part of San Sebastian. It's a really well thought out menu
Wayne M — Google review
I’ve been to Six by Nico five times now, and the new “Space” menu is hands down the best yet. Every course was inventive, beautifully presented, and absolutely delicious. The creativity and attention to detail were out of this world (pun intended) – each dish felt like a real journey, both in flavor and imagination. What I love most about Six by Nico is that they never settle for “just good.” Each menu is an experience, but this one really stood out for me. The balance of flavors, the playfulness in the design, and the way the dishes tied into the theme made it unforgettable. The staff were as warm and attentive as always, which made the evening even more enjoyable. If you’re considering trying the Space menu – don’t hesitate. It’s the best I’ve had here, and that’s saying something after five visits. Six by Nico continues to raise the bar every time. 🚀✨

They just started with a “New York” menu on Monday-Tuesday. Really poor dinner, everything I tasted was heavily masked by either a fatty sauce or sunk is a fatty foam. Flavors completely out of balance. Even the sorbet is dipped in some oil. Atmosphere is really of a diner, from the website I was expecting something else. Place is affordable, though I think value for money is low

Fabulous food. Gorgeous six course taster menu at a very affordable price. We had Sam as our waitress, she was charming and new everything about the menu and made the 'Space' experience really fun. Apart from the palate cleanser at the very beginning, every mouthful of every course was absolutely delicious. It's difficult to singly out just one course because they were all great and delivered with such fun. Late Harvest and Bio-pack 3-06 and Goodbye Earth were just gorgeous. Highly recommended. We'll return to orbit and land there again.

Hobson's Fish & Chips Soho is a classic family-owned eatery in London, offering the iconic British dish of fish and chips. This beloved meal has a rich history, originating from a Jewish boy in East London and becoming a national favorite. The traditional dish features battered cod or haddock served with deep-fried chips, sprinkled with salt and vinegar. While it's best enjoyed by the sea, Hobson's provides a cozy setting for savoring this quintessential British fare.
Loved that the fish was not too oily, and they had gluten-free options. The halloumi salad was genuinely good. Onion rings were crisp and light better than most burger joints. For beer, I’d skip cans and go draft. Overall, very happy give it a try; you’ll like it. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Had dinner at Hobson’s Fish & Chips Soho this September — absolutely delicious! Crispy fish, soft chips, and great service. The Albanian waiters is a plus at this restaurant. Paid £65 for 2 dishes and starter(prawns) not cheap not expensive. A must-try if you want a real London fish & chips experience. Be prepared to wait a bit for a table as it is full usually.

Hobson’s is rated high as the go to place for fish and chips in London. My overall experience was ok. I ordered the classic fish and chips (cod). To be honest it was not quite tasty. The fish was soft and had a good crust. With a bit of vinegar and sauce it was good. But it cost 22,5£ so I expected better. Also the portion fish was not that big. The fries were enough on the other hand. My girlfriend ordered the 2 fish cakes with fries for 15£. This was very good. The fish cakes were soft from the inside and crunchy from the outside. Apart from that they were very tasty. Service was good and quick. Price for fish and chips overprices but it’s London.. though the fish cake was very good and a fair price.

Deen was a great server! The food was also excellent! My fiancée is gluten free, so she was very excited to have their gluten free fish and chips. She loved hers, and I enjoyed my glutenous fish and chips that were also great! The chips were thick and crispy with good flavor. The cod was crispy on the outside with a very flaky and tasty inside. I definitely recommend getting fish and chips here, especially if you have a gluten allergy!

Never will want to missed out for their fish & chips whenever I’m in London! Always serving hot and fresh fish and their fries everything is so delicious. It goes well with a pint of Cider or beer! The price is pricey but what can I say when we are in Soho London!

Decided to pop into Victoria Market Halls after seeing it all over social media. I really like the concept—big fan of the Tooting Market vibe where you’ve got to be as good as (or better than) the next trader or you’ll soon disappear. Two floors of food options with a bar on each, plus the knockout roof terrace that really comes into its own when the sun’s out. It’s a slick, professional setup, but there’s definitely room to squeeze in a few more food kiosks. More variety would up the appeal and make it even more of a destination. I went for the Black Bear burger while my wife ordered a poke bowl from Pole the Bear—both were delicious and the service was fast and efficient. Overall, really impressed by the space, the fit-out and the service. Planning to check out one or two of the other locations over the next few weeks. Added bonus—it’s dog friendly!

I love going to the rooftop bar here, usually I'm meeting someone later and they come into Victoria Station so it is very convenient! The food is great. There are about 6 or so food booths! I haven't tried them all yet! I love the bao buns so much!! The cocktails are amazing! I tend to go to the rooftop becauseit is normally very busy inside , I order a drink and maybe some food and read my book whilst I wait for my friend. The staff are normally really friendly. I did feel a little sorry for the girl in the rooftop bar as there were so many wasps!!! I feel totally comfortable here whilst on my own to begin with! Plus it's lovely when sunny!

If you're in the Victoria Station area and you're looking for food variety you should check out Market Halls Victoria. There are other food spots in this area, but this market has something for just about everyone. I recommend checking out the vendors on both the first and second floor before making your selection. Also, there are bars conveniently on both levels, and plenty of seating throughout the entire space. I cannot speak to the quality of all the vendors, but Jude's Thai food was delicious. The register attendant was very friendly and helpful. The food was not only appealing, but it was also flavorful. I was very impressed with the spice level (heat) of the green curry. Whether you are passing through, meeting up with friends, or waiting for a show to start at Victoria Palace Theatre, consider checking out this lovely food court. Cheers!!

First time here meeting friends. Cool vibe, staff super helpful. Drinks prices very reasonable. Sandra was especially helpful as I was alone and waiting for friends to arrive. She was fab. Thank you.

Amazing range of authentic food vendors from across the world, with an easy to use ordering system from the tables (using your phone, no app to download) or you can go to the vendors directly. Really nice vibe, not too loud even when it was very busy. Staff frequently cleaning up tables keeping it all really nice.

Wow wow...very solid food with loads of different choices in the food court. Multiple bars that are well staffed serving drinks. There is plenty of seating and even a bit of air con, making it a nice place to sit on these balmy London summer days!!!

Great varieties of cuisines from bao bun to Thai to artisan burgers and tacos. We had Thai and Malaysian. All very tasty. Not too expensive £13 for Prawn Pad Thai. As it’s a food hall, sharing tables, there is a lack of staff who kept up with cleaning tables. Atmosphere feels a bit industrial and not too comfy to sit for longer for drinks.

The Lighterman is a sleek and modern British gastropub located in the heart of Kings Cross, offering a scenic canal-side setting. The venue boasts a minimalist design with large windows and an alfresco bar by the water. It's situated at Granary Square, alongside other popular spots like Caravan and Dishoom.
over 3 levels, you're sure to find a place if you haven't got a booking. But I would recommend you book, because it is really popular as it's right by the canal and all levels have great views. We reserved for the restaurant (outside is first come first serve) and were taken to our table where we were left to settle in. There's no rush here and we loved that. The flatbreads are really really good! We tried the 'Courgette, summer truffle, macadamia cheese' which I would highly recommend. This was a last minute decision to change from the standard 'Buffalo mozzarella & tomato' which I'm glad we did. It was so fresh and delicious. The menu has a good range, and there's something for everyone. We had mussels and fish and chips. All great. The mussels are a generous portion. And we finished it off by sharing the 'Lemon & vanilla posset'. A great experience and I'd come back again.

The location of the Lighterman is lovely! Lots of seating both indoor and outdoor out. The food was amazing, as are the cocktails! I really looked forward to visiting here, we had it booked for a couple of months and it did not disappoint. I will definitely be back to try more of the cocktails and the menu😊

This place is absolutely amazing! The food was delicious, but what really stood out was the incredible service. Our waiter, Hiten, went above and beyond—constantly checking in on us, making us laugh, and creating such a welcoming atmosphere. He’s truly a gem, and I’d honestly come back just to be served by him again. We’ll definitely be back!

Fish and chips takeaway
Poppies Fish & Chips is a renowned spot in the Capital, known for serving some of the finest fish and chips. The restaurant offers sustainably caught seafood in a nostalgic setting adorned with quirky 1940s memorabilia. It's not just about adult-sized portions; there's also a section on the menu dedicated to kids' favorites at reasonable prices. The Camden outpost has a relaxed vibe, making it an ideal stop before exploring the colorful markets nearby.
Really love this fish and chips brand with a vintage aesthetics at their three locations. This one is full of waitress dressed in pip ups, love the vibe! The fried cod is just huge and the smashed peas are very flavourful, it balances perfectly the thickness of fried food. But the dish I really enjoyed was the scampi with fries.
MM T — Google review
I had high expectations for Poppies given all the hype, but I left feeling a bit underwhelmed. The place is undoubtedly charming, and the staff were incredibly friendly and attentive — the service really is top-notch. However, when it comes to the food, I found it pretty average. The fish was fine, but not particularly memorable, and the chips lacked that crispy, golden edge you’d hope for in a place known for this classic British dish. Overall, it’s not a bad spot — just, in my opinion, overrated for what you actually get. Worth a visit if you’re nearby and want friendly service in a nostalgic setting, but don’t expect the best fish and chips of your life.
Caio A — Google review
Tried Poppies at Camden Market and it did not disappoint! Classic British fish and chips done right — crispy batter, flaky fish, and perfectly golden chips. The portion was generous, and even the mushy peas were on point. Loved the retro vibe and friendly service too. Great spot to sit, relax, and enjoy a proper taste of London. Definitely worth a stop if you're at Camden!

If you're in Camden, you absolutely have to check out Poppies for some classic fish and chips. The vibe in the place is fantastic, with cool decor and a welcoming atmosphere. The staff are incredibly friendly and attentive, providing top-notch service that enhances the overall experience. The famous fish and chips here, especially the haddock, are delicious and satisfying. I also loved the chicken pie with chips, though it is on the pricier side. While Poppies is a solid choice, don't expect a life-changing meal; it’s a fun spot that lives up to its reputation without overpromising. Enjoy your meal and make the most of your time exploring Camden! The nostalgic setting, complete with quirky 1940s memorabilia, adds to the charm.

Friendly staff, enjoyable music, and a nostalgic, authentic vibe — you can really feel the history since the restaurant has been around since 1952. Prices are reasonable considering the good quality. Definitely try the curry sauce — it adds a delicious touch to the experience!

I know Poppies Fish & Chips is quite well known so I had a high expectation. To be fair, it was a decent piece of fish with crispy batter. The fries were chunky with good flavour. Regular £20 /large £23. I just think the drinks were way too overpriced. Half larger was £6!
Poom S — Google review
If you’re walking by Camden, Poppies is a great spot to check out for some classic fish and chips. The place has a cool vibe with awesome decor, and the staff are super friendly, making it a solid pick for tourists looking for a good experience. Their most popular dish is, of course, the famous fish and chips. It’s simple, satisfying, and gets the job done, but honestly, it’s a bit overhyped. I’ve tried other spots around London that serve up equally tasty fish and chips for half the price. The fish here is decent but nothing mind-blowing, and the plate is nearly half fries, which is fine, just not super exciting. Plus, it’s a little pricey for what you get. Pro tip: Pair your meal with a cold beer, just a heads up, the food can be a bit greasy, so maybe keep some napkins handy. All in all, Poppies is a nice place to eat, but don’t go in expecting a life changing meal. The reputation’s a bit bigger than the reality. Enjoy your food, and have fun exploring Camden

From my mum. I visited with my son, daughter-in-law and granddaughter yesterday morning for a surprise birthday breakfast, and I want to extend my gratitude and thanks to the staff working that day, for making me us so very welcome. The breakfast was exceptionally good and your waiting staff ensured that our dietary needs were well catered for. We have dined at several high-end venues, and my family have been to the Berners Taveon a couple of occasions, but this was my first visit, and I am certainly looking forward to returning in the near future. I would also like to thank you for the beautiful bouquet of flowers, and also a very special thanks to the lovely waiter/host who was so attentive and smelt wonderful, and when I commented, surprised me at the end of our visit, by presenting me with his own little bottle of gorgeous scented rose oil to take home. That was the kindest gesture. I cannot remember his name but I have enclosed a photograph. Please can you thank him from the bottom of my heart, and I would also like to compliment him on his attentive service with a smile. He is a credit to you, and deserves recognition for his exceptional customer service and going the extra mile. Thank you all so much. With kind regards and very warmest wishes to you all,

Overall far far from Kerridges Bar and Grill so won’t be back for sure.

My friends and I visited Berners Tavern for Sunday roast today, and it was absolutely exceptional. It was such a pleasant afternoon — the service was flawless, and the food was outstanding. Genuinely one of the best roasts I’ve ever had! The pacing of the meal was perfect too. Finally, a place that knows how to cook a Yorkshire pudding! We were also so impressed by Hristomir’s exemplary service — he was incredibly welcoming and kind. We’ll definitely be back!

My partner and I enjoyed an amazing evening for dinner on Saturday night. The place has a reputation for quality but we weren’t prepared for how incredible the food and service would actually be. First up was the cocktails in the restaurant bar. The complimentary snacks were so good - Who thinks to griddle/smoke an olive! Gigi took great care of us at the table and beneath that relaxed warm approach of communicating, you could see he didn’t miss a trick and upheld a fantastic level of service. We were also blown away by the meals that came out from the kitchen team. There was everything you’d expect in terms of classic ingredients on the menu - but served in exciting new ways, which is exactly why we come to London. Adding Marmite flavours to the chateaubriand was “chefs kiss” 👏 But the star of the show was the Sommelier Zak. Once we’d decided on our meals, we asked Zak for his help choosing wines. We set some constraints and preferences, and he quickly established trust and rapport and helped us navigate the wine list. Zak then recommended a wine, providing really insightful context, telling the story of the producer and just having a really nice humorous approach, that it elevated the evening from “a very nice meal in London” to “One of the most exciting dining experiences we’ve ever had”. I think it says everything when you’re taking selfies with the wine guy 😂 A massive thanks to everyone that helped us have an unforgettable experience. We can’t wait to come back soon.

By Chloe is a trendy, fast-casual spot in London that offers plant-based versions of classic British comfort foods. The menu features creative dishes like tofu fillets wrapped in nori seaweed to mimic the texture of fish skin. The restaurant has gained popularity among celebrities and regular diners alike for its fresh, flavorful vegan offerings. Customers can enjoy friendly service from the manager while dining in or opting for takeout.
I frequent this place a lot. The food is very good. So far I have tried most of the menu. I like that they don't overuse oil, especially that there are air fried fries. I like the salads the most, though the fish and chips is good too. The pasta options are tasty as well. Overall, everything is good. But it's more of a fast food style of restaurant. Still, pretty decent.

Good food, decent prices but very limited choices. Would love to have more options. Located in the heart of the city and is 10mins walk from Trafalgar Square so should be worth a try if you are around Covent Garden The Thai salad is really filling, the burger is just average.Mac & cheese and arabiatta pasta are really good.

Vegan restaurant which offers takeout and dine in, we were served by a friendly manager Matteo who provided a service to remember, personable and friendly with a warm touch. We ordered the Guac burger with fries, Fish and Chips, Macaroni and Cheese as well as a red velvet cupcake and chocolate and pecan cookie. The food is made with fresh ingredients on site and this comes through with the fine taste and flavours, thoroughly recommended as a place to try if you enjoy vegan food. Will definitely return, thank you for making it memorable.

This place is super cute and would be a nice place to hang out/do some work. I thought the food I got was only ok but I would go back again to try more - the brunch and desserts looked appetizing but I didn't get a chance to try either. Ordered the classic burger- the actual patty was pretty good but I wasn't a fan of their bread. The sauces they have- sriracha mayo and beet ketchup- are really good. They even went well with the mac & cheese I ordered. As I'm not a vegan, I have higher expectations from my mac & cheese but I still think it was good pasta.

Fully plant-based with gluten free items clearly delineated. Friendly and helpful staff. Overall, very fun vibe which is family-friendly (from noise level to decor to menu items). The selection is not ideal for those wanting a wide breadth of healthier options to choose from (minus salads). The gluten free chocolate chip cookie is delicious. Very sweet but delicious. Prices are very reasonable. Would have been better had the establishment not been ripped away from Chloe by ESquared.

The service here was excellent, we were recommended the beet burger which my partner thoroughly enjoyed. We were also offered a taster of the seasonal lemonade (pomegranate & ginger) to help us decide on our drinks choice. The food arrived relatively quickly and was delicious, you completely forget it’s a vegan version as the quality stands on it own without having to compare to their meat counterparts.

Hands down the best vegan food ive had. Service was incredibly quick - 7 minute wait for burger and sweet potatoes . Burger was PERFECT, they were not stingy with the guacamole either. Sweet potato fries were perfectly seasoned. Staff was so nice and friendly, i am dead impressed. Cant wait to go back.

I tried this place out twice before reviewing. The variation on the menu is amazing, but the food I tried could have been much better for the price. Some of the items, like the fries and the burger were a little bland. I'm sure some of the other dishes are better. The mac and cheese, however, was probably the best I've had.

Lady Abercorn's Pub & Kitchen is a charming and inviting eatery located within the Andaz Hotel in Liverpool Street. The pub offers a delightful selection of pub classics and international dishes, complemented by a variety of local brews, including their own IPA called Lady A. The fish and chips, made with the Lady A-infused batter, are particularly recommended. The cozy atmosphere makes it an ideal spot to catch a football game or simply enjoy some delicious food and drinks.
The Lady Abercorn Pub, nestled within the Andaz Hotel, is an absolute delight and a must-visit if you're in the Liverpool Street area. It's everything you could wish for in a traditional British pub, elevated by truly special surroundings. The moment you step inside, you're struck by the spacious and beautifully decorated interior. It's brimming with original features and charming influences from Lady Abercorn's legendary travels, making for a unique and captivating atmosphere. Beyond the stunning decor, the pub truly shines with its offerings. There's a great selection of drinks to choose from, and the expansive menu of traditional pub food is fantastic. From light bar snacks like perfectly triple-cooked chips and sharing platters such as the delicious salt and pepper squid, to more substantial mains like classic fish and chips, the Angus beef burger, and bangers and mash (with vegan options) – there's something for everyone. I personally went for the dry-aged sirloin steak sandwich with caramelized onion chimichurri and dijon mustard on ciabatta, served with fries, and it was absolutely scrumptious. The menu truly offers great value for money considering its central London location. What really completes the experience is the incredibly friendly staff who provide wonderfully efficient service. Even when it's busy, they manage to keep things running smoothly. For sports fans, they often show major football and rugby games on big screens. While it can get lively during these matches, there are surprisingly plenty of seats available, which is a rare find in central London! Whether you're looking for a couple of after-work drinks and food, a relaxed spot on the weekend when the city is a bit quieter, or even a convenient pre-train pint before catching a train from Liverpool Street, The Lady Abercorn is the perfect choice. Highly recommended!

A very ornate pub with a lot of wood panelling. I was here on a very hot day but the air conditioning meant is was cool inside. This pub has two seating areas plus limited exterior seating. From the pub you can access a hotel including a rather nice bar. It certainly isn't cheap here, £8 for a Neck Oil IPA. They did have three cask beers and aroundd twenty whiskies. The architecture of this pub makes it worth a visit even allowing for the high prices.

A gloriously decorative room with too much missed potential. I was turned away on the last visit because 'the manager said we're full' but I could observe empty seats through the door. I returned because I am GEH for life, a member of the team that opened this beautiful collection of hotel & restaurants. This bar was The George & retains the architectural character. The incredible, original, restored, ornately carved wood pannelled ceiling curves into the tapestry topped walls over vintage wood panelling amongst the bowed, decoratively carved pillars of this square grand home, drinking hall. Broad, padded, comfortable low chairs add elegance beneath the GDR palace lamps creating a simple 60's juxtaposition to keep the focus on the ceiling. The modern back wall bar is overlooked by a giant heritage painting of Bishopsgate in 1620, proud in a highly decorated wood carved frame. Figureheads & dimpled glazing complete this masterpiece in wood under the broad beams. The service was shamefully out of sequence in miserable, disengaged silence not fitting at all to this hotel, this bar, this heritage & too much potential vibe missed measured against how incredible it has been.

Lovely pub on the corner of Liverpool Street station. Came to watch football game. It can get busy when there are sports, but there are plenty of seats available. A pint costs around £7, and fries around £6. The fries were really worth it. Best fries in the local area. Toilets are quite a walk - down stairs. There is a security guard to, so the pub is secure. One big screen for sports in the main room and another smaller screen in the small room. There is no table service, you have to order at till. There was no table number too.. so quite hard to tell them what table we sat at. They do regular beers - Birra Moretti, Guiness, Heineken Silver, and ale.

Fish & chips restaurant
Kerridge's Fish & Chips is a new restaurant at the Harrods food hall that serves up high-quality seafood from top British suppliers, with triple cooked chips and caviar or Matson curry sauce as snacks.
Delicious fish and chips! The ratio of fish to batter is spot on, and the portion size is generous. The fish was soft, perfectly cooked, and not dry or rubbery. The chips — though there were only eight — were the thickest I’ve ever seen. They’re especially tasty when dipped in the sauces, which are absolutely delicious. The portion might look small at first glance, but it’s more than enough to fill one person. The kitchen is very clean, and the service is excellent. Seating is comfortable but quite limited. As for the prices — yes, it’s more expensive, but you’re in Harrods! It’s expected. Reviews should focus on the quality, not the cost in places like this.

We had just arrived in London and were surprised to find Harrods down the street We needed something to eat and went in the food hall and waited in line (make a reservation) for a table or counter space at Kerridge’s Fish & Chips.. We forgot to order tap water and paid for still water and a ginger beer for myself. We ordered a fish and chips and two plates to split up he order and caviar and chips. We thought the piece of fish was huge and we were grateful that we only ordered one. My hubby enjoyed his caviar and chips. I liked the chips they were not bad with the crème fraiche. The Fish and chips was served with curry and tartare sauce and mushy peas (thick split pea soup). We enjoyed the dish and would order again. I have read or heard that prices are high but when thinking about the US dollar to UK pound everything was high!

Food: The scallops were great, the fish was just okay, the chips could've been better. It felt a bit over-priced, even though it's in a fancy department store.. The atmosphere of the restaurant didn't really impress me either.. Experience: We walked in without a reservation, so we had to wait a bit, which is understandable since there are not many seats. The servers could've been more attentive. Overall, I think there are better places for fish and chips in London. Unfortunately, this was my only experience of it.

The most delicious fish and chips I have had in a long time. Excellent service and the best meal in London is here in Harrods. I requested mashed potatoes and got it too! Only negative was the dining hall seems too dim and the table light was not working. I don't like eating in the dark.
Yulea X — Google review
As someone who’s passionate about food reviews, I couldn’t miss the opportunity to try fish and chips at Harrods during my recent trip to London — especially since it was my nephew’s first time in the city, and I wanted to make it memorable. I thought, what better place to enjoy a classic British dish in a refined setting? Yes, it’s on the pricey side (£37 for fish and chips), but I must say — it was worth every penny. The experience was elevated not only by the elegant surroundings but also by the excellent service. Chef Michael Gray was incredibly attentive, taking the time to explain the dish in detail, including the unique curry served alongside — a thoughtful and delicious touch. We were also lucky to get a table without a reservation, waiting less than 10 minutes. If you’re looking for a premium take on a British classic, with impeccable service and atmosphere, I highly recommend this spot.

Had a bit of fun doing a ‘Fish Friday’ on Good Friday here. We knew the prices going in and chose it for the experience, and it delivered. My partner is gluten intolerant, and eating out usually involves lots of research or settling for less-good. Here, they use the same gluten-free batter for everyone, which struck me as quite bold. I never order gluten-free anything, but was genuinely curious to try it out and I was impressed. The batter was thin and crispy, held up well under lemon juice, vinegar and sauce, and wasn’t greasy at all. I know batter is a personal thing, some like it light and fluffy, but this version worked great for me. The three sauces that accompanied the fish & chips were good (note that only the tartar sauce is GF) but probably too subtle for my taste. I would’ve preferred the flavours to be more pronounced and distinctive, i.e., more zing in the tartar sauce and stronger curry flavour from the curry sauce. We ordered two fish and chips (one swapped for baby potatoes), plus the caviar and chips and a side of minted peas. At first glance, the plates didn’t look especially full - if you start counting the chips, there aren’t that many, but they’re cut extra thick and was really filling; we ended up leaving a few behind. Service was excellent, dishes arrived with pace, and the whole experience felt relaxed and enjoyable (that is until you get up and see the throngs of people trying to get into the dining hall). I recommend making reservations. A memorable treat, and a win for anyone looking for gluten-free options that don’t compromise on taste and quality.
M — Google review
Happy I didn’t read reviews before going as I probably wouldn’t have gone given it’s a 3/5. However, I’m here to tell you that I thought it was a great meal and give it 5/5. We had one fish and chips and one sandwich fish and chips to share. Everything tasted fantastic and given we were at the bar, we could see them make it in front of us. The fish and chips comes with a curry sauce on the side which was yummy. The mashed peas are such a treat, I wish the portion was more pub like than Harrods like. Staff were pleasant, good for London, ok for Harrods. Service was quick, we waited barely 10 minutes for food. Is it expensive? Of course it is, you are in Harrods. But look past that and you’ll have a nice time.
Nico M — Google review
Very underwhelming to be honest… the fish itself was the skinniest flattest bit of fish I’d seen, the batter was very thin also, not much crisp to it, was like the frozen batter you get from a youngs frozen fish. The pea pudding was nice, not mind blowing, curry sauce was ok but only got 8 chips! It tasted ok but I didn’t have a wow moment only the bill was a wow moment 2 x fish and chips and 2 x a glass of house champagne and a bread roll came to £142! An experience sure but an underwhelming one at that. Attaches a picture of some fish and chips from sidmouth beach at a place called Marine! Blew TK Harrods out the water and £17 per portion cheaper… total bill was £65 including a tip.
