Modern luxury hotel, Relatively well located - depending on where you need to be (not by the Bund). Rooms are spacious, with very comfortable bed. Depending on room, you get a bathtub with nice outside view. Semi- buffet style Breakfast usually good, with a choice of Chinese and western options.

The hotel was exceptional - design, food , location and service. The terrace is amazing , relaxing while you sit by a large pond/water feature making you forget you are actually in Jing'an and in central Shanghai - a real urban retreat! The only thing was the room was the bed was very, very uncomfortable and more like a futon and the bedding was not of great quality. Other than that everything was perfect!

A hidden oasis. 🌆💆‍♂️ Yes, there were a few very minor imperfections but what stood out most was how the staff went above and beyond every single time to ensure my stay remained perfect. This spatial masterpiece was designed by the late Jaya Ibrahim. From the very beginning it redefined urban retreat with its serene Eastern aesthetics and restrained modern language. Quiet yet rich in timeless details it has become an irreplaceable benchmark for city living in the hearts of many. Precisely because its complete and self contained design left such a deep impression any changes now feel particularly sensitive. As news of the renovation spreads and with the original designer no longer present voices across social media are pleading please do not change The PuLi. This is likely not a rejection of evolution but a hope that the hotel’s aesthetic can continue with dignity. The true test for the new team is how to honor the original spirit while responding to the passage of time. But why does a renovation provoke such strong reactions? Is renovating The PuLi truly necessary? To be honest the recent release of photos showing the renovated Park Hyatt Tokyo has added to people’s concerns about The PuLi’s upcoming changes. It truly saddens me to see a hotel I once admired for its caliber seemingly losing its touch. I've always been drawn to the timeless design of both the lobby and the rooms. However, it feels as though the service hasn't kept pace with other luxury hotels. Perhaps I'm spoiled, but I believe a genuinely five-star establishment should strive to anticipate guest needs before being asked. Here, it felt like staff often needed a gentle nudge. My room, unfortunately had a noticeable odor, and the presence of an already running air purifier suggested this was a known issue. Simple conveniences, like a dental kit or a razor, required a call to guest services. The toilet also wasn't a smart toilet (which is becoming a standard in luxury hotels in Asia). Breakfast was similarly underwhelming. The buffet selections were limited, and curiously, dim sum and wonton had to be ordered separately, despite their rather unremarkable taste – it makes you wonder why they aren't just part of the buffet. I'm aware that room renovations are on the horizon, and I'm hopeful that these improvements will also extend to the service.

This is not a 5-star hotel. Our ‘suite’ is tired: the furniture has nicks and chips, scuffs and water leak stains on the wall. We have a 12”, SHARP tv in our bedroom that looks like it’s from the 90’s which, how that is even possible, I don’t know. There is barely enough room on my side of the bed to get into bed. Service is friendly and fine but not impeccable. The lobby is busy with randos posing and taking photos for social media.

Our stay at The Ritz-Carlton was truly unforgettable. From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel not just like guests, but genuinely cared for. Every detail from the beautifully designed room to the thoughtful touches throughout our stay exceeded our expectations. Very pleasant stay, good service and the right rooms have great views. Breakfast buffet is OK but options are on the light side. The bathtub in the middle of the toilet seemed like an afterthought and to be honest looked like a coffin, which is a bit eerie. Overall, the rooms were a bit aged. Would recommend to try it out though

The service here was truly exceptional. I cannot begin to express how thoughtful the staff were and how at home they made us feel. Winga the front of house manager, was a star. She went out of her way to accommodate and anticipate our needs. The hotel is on the old side and there are far more modern options on the bund. Had a lovely staycation here. Check-in was super easy, and the bed was incredibly comfortable, I actually slept for 14 hours straight and woke up feeling completely refreshed, no jet lag at all. The gym was well-equipped and nice and quiet during breakfast time, which made for a great morning workout. Breakfast was wonderful with a wide variety of options, the pastries were delicious, and I especially loved the Chinese dumplings. We arrived early and got an amazing seat with a beautiful view of Shanghai’s Pearl Tower. The service throughout our stay was excellent, couldn’t have asked for better!

An iconic stay at the renowned Ritz-Carlton Pudong, a well-deserved MICHELIN Key honoree. This hotel holds the most prime position in Lujiazui, with direct access to the IFC Mall and metro. I was hosted in the magnificent Bund View Suite, offering floor-to-ceiling panoramas that transform into a light show at dusk. The interior is a masterclass in contemporary elegance with Art Deco touches. The Ritz-Carlton Club Lounge on the 49th floor is a "hotel within a hotel," offering five culinary presentations with stunning city backdrops. Dining at Scena was a highlight, both for breakfast with the Pearl Tower and an exquisite chef's tasting menu by night. The FLAIR rooftop bar is legendary, and the infinity pool on the 53rd floor is an aquatic escape in the clouds. The service from every Lady and Gentleman was warm and impeccably attentive. A truly unforgettable experience that commemorated my 16th stay with the brand perfectly.

Thankfully, Rosy from the hotel staff went above and beyond, spending so much time and effort to help us. Thanks to her dedication and kindness, we were able to get the phone back. Booked and pre-paid for tickets to the Halloween event at Flair for my wife's birthday. Expected a smooth process and a nice night out. Instead, we spent almost 2hrs barely moving in the line to get inside, only to be told to "request a refund" as the event had been over sold. Wasted our night on our holiday to Shanghai, wasted effort of getting in costume for the event & even worse, wasted the evening for my wife's birthday which was spent standing in line to get in. Extremely below expectations for the Ritz Carlton brand

Good Service. Nice team and staff we got. Helping hands for foreigners with patience. Helped a lot in booking taxis and local commuting. Food is ok to have, not a premium what we got. It was a buffet dinner by the event organizers. So we are not able to tell exactly about the Hotel Buffet. Items were ok to have, servicing was not perfect. They were tired within 1.30 hrs after starting the event. The event closed about 2 hours earlier than expected. No big rush. Parking we got a safe one. Shopping complex is available, but like a Luxury one. Above premium, we all had a costly ice cream there.

Extremely Happy we decided to go with this Hotel. Extremely convenient to get to the neighboring exhibition. Breakfast had a good variety of options. Check in was a breeze (Elio was very professional and answered all my questions). Also being connected to the shopping mall and subway made it a breeze to get around. Many options for going out to eat in that vicinity as well. Extremely pleased and can't wait to come again.

It’s a little bit far from the city center but close to the airport and very peaceful. Nice place to relax. It’s connected to a department store and you can easily find something to eat and drink there. The room is really clean and cozy with very supportive English friendly hotel staffs.

Another typical Shangri La hotel, stayed here for a conference at the higher floors. Breathtaking panoramic view of Shanghai from the room, clean and spacious , lots of usb ports and even a bar. Access to executive lounge as well until 11pm. The large gym on 4th floor also has an amazing view, over a dozen treadmills facing the view. Not operating 24 hours thought. Breakfast buffet service was a little crowded but lots of local and international choices - even a nice Swiss Bircher museli. Typical Shangri La hospitality . Close to subway. Big park next door good for running. Will visit again

Kerry park side mall is connected to ground floor of hotel from where you enter mall also.At the entrance of mall for hotel has Sudan plus electronic gadget shop will get best price on all gadget and they have tax refund invoice. You will get 9% tax refund from airport .

Exclusivity lost. Be aware that the gym facilities are shared with non in-house hotel guest that is not able to speak English and rudely speaks with hotel guests similar to interaction with people on the streets. People on the streets might be even more polite. Horrible! Signages or notices should be placed on the use of facilities to prevent guests from disturbing each others. Hotel guests typically do not bother one another, however, because the facilities is shared with locals, in-house guests can expect some disturbance from ill-mannered, rude and non-English speaking guest. This totally ruined the 4-star shangri-la experience. In-house hotel guests should not be disturbed, in general. Used the gym facilities in the morning and received blaberring, scolding or lecturing by a rude local chinese lady (which I am guessing is not a hotel guest) in a rude tone that kept talking in chinese. Morning totally ruined from a hotel which supposed to host business travellers from around the world due to its proximity near sniec. There was no notice by the hotel that the facilities cannot be used by in-house hotel guest when local classes were held. The manager explained that the facilities can be used by in-house guests, however, would you still want to continue using the facilities after having an ill-mannered lady that goes around scolding hotel guest in Chinese.

The Diplomatic Suite is marvellous, offering functional space with an airy feeling and an impressive six-metre ceiling. Housekeeping is top-notch, ensuring that every detail of your stay is flawless. I would, however, encourage the hotel’s engineering team to improve the connectivity with the high-end music systems. The in-room Nespresso machine, while high-end, is still an early version, and the cupboard it is placed in could benefit from a more user-friendly design. The dining room serving Shanghai cuisine is a must-visit. The dishes are absolutely delicious and executed to perfection, particularly the signature creations. Billy, the manager in charge, took excellent care of us, as did the entire service team. Considering the quality, atmosphere, and the sweeping views from the 87th floor, the prices for the meals are extremely fair.

Room: Stayed at the Diplomatic Suite on the 88th floor, spacious and comfortable. If you want a better view, I would suggest booking one on the 85th floor instead. Service: Very good overall, most staff are friendly. However, check-in is definitely their weakest point. One of the male front desk staff (forgot his name) wasn’t very professional, and it’s quite unacceptable for a Park Hyatt to have guests lining up that long just to check in. Other than that, service throughout the stay was great. Dining: Yuexuan restaurant is very good and tasty. It’s actually the reason why we keep coming back and staying at this hotel again and again. Location: Very convenient.

Staying at the Park Hyatt Shanghai is an experience like no other – the hotel starts on the 79th floor of the Shanghai World Financial Centre, so you’re quite literally living in the clouds. The views are breathtaking from every corner – whether you're swimming in the infinity pool, having breakfast, or just relaxing in your room, you’re always surrounded by incredible panoramas of the city. The pool, called "Water’s Edge", is especially magical – it feels like it disappears into the sky. The food is excellent – especially The Dining Room, which focuses on elegant Jiangnan cuisine. The flavours are light and refined, and you can really taste the care in every dish. The design of the hotel is beautiful too – all warm tones, modern art, and a peaceful, almost club-like atmosphere. Speaking of clubs, the Park Salon on the 86th floor is well worth the extra fee. It’s not your typical hotel lounge – more like a calm, chic hideaway with stunning views, flowing drinks, great snacks and light meals throughout the day. It feels like you’re floating above the city in your own private sky lounge. A stay at Park Hyatt Shanghai is more than just a hotel experience – it’s a serene, sky-high escape that blends stunning views, refined dining, and thoughtful luxury in every detail. It’s Shanghai at its most elevated, literally and figuratively.

Not really sure if it's a common theme for 浦东 hotels to be lacking or awkward service-wise, but it certainly feels that way. We stayed in this place a while ago but I still remember the inconsistencies in service and hard product. Check in is slow, no offer to help with luggage, views from the room and lobby are great, staff seems generally untrained or maybe from somewhere 乡下. For example, we were asked if we were staying at the hotel when we stopped to check out the gym and grabbed a bottle of water while we were there. Double elevators to access rooms is slightly inconvenience and does get old, but not the end of the world. Might be the worst PH we've stayed in.

The constant creaking and creaking from the building doesn't inspire much confidence at these dizzying heights. Unfortunately, the rooms are very coldly furnished, and some of the furniture isn't quite as new. The TV in the bathroom is unfortunately a bad joke Super small, dark and no programs The Japanese toilet with heated seed and multiple choices for anything is very comfortable. It even open by itself when you get closer. Some art in the hotel also reminds one of toilets But park Hyatt is always very exaggerated The entrance hall looks more like the access to the nuclear-bomb resistant headquarters of a James Bond villain House rules are also very strict.. watching adult movies will be reported to the police.. 🙄

Went to the Park Hyatt in Shanghai for dinner. The restaurant is on the 91st floor. Very delicious food and magnificent views. Highly recommend.

Honestly service was pretty mid for a Park Hyatt. Service was definitely kind of disappointing. Views were great but the rooms were really dated. Could hear the neighbours talking loudly so sound insulation was not great either. Location is ok, would prefer to be at the Bund area. Overall, average hotel at best.

Room and location was nice and that’s it. Service could really be improved here. I first notified the hotel there were cigarette smell in my room but it felt like they did not do much to rectify it. So I was left staying in the room with that smell the whole night. Breakfast was slow and food was average. Would definitely head to other hotels for the price paid at this property.

After having stayed at The Peninsula in Bangkok, so impressed that I booked The Peninsula in Shanghai hoping to explore more of this chain. I was traveling with my dad. However, I was pretty disappointed as everything is subpar. I think you’re paying for the location and the decor of the hotel, aside from that, nothing stood out. Not the service, not the amenities, nothing. Breakfast feels and looks very skimmed and uptight. It’s pretty odd that breakfast is served at the hotel lobby. Hotel Lobby did not have any seating area. Not memorable, instead we felt like we regretted the decision to stay here. Would rather go to other hotels for that price. The only thing I would remember is staying at the same hotel as an NBA player - that’s all 😆

My wife and I stayed at The Peninsula in Shanghai, and it was an incredible experience! The hotel was super comfortable and the staff welcoming. The room had stunning views of the Bund. We had such a great time and would definitely love to go back!

In addition, during the afternoon tea service, I was surprised to see men being served before women. At the very least, I would expect the courtesy of serving women first.

The Peninsula Shanghai 上海半岛酒店, where luxury doesn’t stroll in politely, it storms in wearing a top hat, monocle, and a diamond-studded cufflink, and expects you to bow. Opened in 2009, this was the first new Bund building in over 60 years, basically Shanghai saying “We’re back, but classier this time” and yes, the ghosts of colonial bankers are probably rolling in their graves just to watch you sip your cocktail. Designed by HOK, every marble slab, bronze detail, and triple-paned window is screaming, “Look at me! Your wallet doesn’t belong here, but your Instagram does.” Inside, you’ve got 235 rooms and suites, five restaurants and bars, a spa, a pool, and a fitness center, all meticulously staged so you can feel like royalty while your bank account weeps quietly in the corner. Oh, and for those with shopping ambitions, the Chanel store is right here too, conveniently reminding you luxury is never just about rooms. Well I didn’t stay.. wallet didn’t permit but who knows, if The Peninsula Shanghai sees this post, maybe they’ll consider giving me a free night, haha. The Peninsula 上海 is the hotel equivalent of a reality TV star at a black-tie gala dazzling, over-the-top, slightly intimidating, and somehow, you can’t stop staring.

2/5 stars I'm disappointed to say that our recent stay at the Shanghai Marriott Hotel City Center fell short of our expectations, especially considering our Super Elite membership status. As frequent Marriott guests, we've come to expect a certain level of service and quality, but unfortunately, this hotel didn't deliver. The room amenities were subpar, with the phone not working even for city calls, and the front desk being unhelpful and trying to charge us for a local call. We were left hanging without a callback. Additionally, me and my daughter had to wait 30 minutes in the middle of our shower after the long Disneyland trip at 10sh pm because the hair conditioner and shower gel containers were empty, and the wrong bathroom stuff was brought to our room. The lounge experience was also a letdown. Despite being a family with young children, we weren't allowed to access the lounge, food was subpar and our kids felt isolated throughout our 4-night stay. In contrast, our subsequent stay at the Mandarin Oriental was a breath of fresh air. The hotel's family-friendly atmosphere and exceptional service were a stark contrast to our experience at the Marriott. The front desk staff, concierge, and other team members spoke great English and went above and beyond to make our stay special, and comfortable, especially for our little ones. The thoughtful touches, such as providing small indoor slippers and towels for our kids, made them feel like princes and princess. If you're traveling with family and kids, I'd highly recommend considering the Mandarin Oriental over the Marriott (more business) The difference in service and amenities was night and day. *Suggestions for improvement:* - Ensure that room amenities, including phones and toiletries, are functioning and readily available. - Provide better training for front desk staff on handling guest issues and providing excellent customer service. - Consider revising the lounge policy to be more family-friendly and inclusive. *Overall:* While we're loyal Marriott customers, our experience at this hotel was a disappointment. Perhaps with some improvements, future guests with young family will have a more enjoyable stay.

Location is great if you plan on walking anywhere near nanjing road- minus one cos cars coming to here to pick you up will face some heavy traffic. But otherwise, overall great experience, the rooms were comfortable and I felt well taken care of by the staff. Lovely lobby area and a happy hour from 5-8pm. The rooms aren’t huge so keep that in mind as we struggled to keep two large suitcases open (we don’t like to unpack everything for a 2 night trip)

I had stayed at the Hyatt before and wanted to go back there. However, the location for the Marriott is unbeatable. Also, very worth upgrading to the executive lounge access. The afternoon cocktails are good enough for dinner. Very quiet breakfast at the 37 floor. Good gym too! Massage was just ok.

My family and I stayed at Marriott Marquis at SH City Center in late May. What a wonderful stay! Among all the Marriott brand hotels, (and believe me, we have stayed at most of high-end Marriot brands in Shanghai), this one is our favorite. We call it our "home away from home". Aside from the modern design, beautiful decor and spacious and comfortable space, the service at Marriott Marquis certainly stands out. We are especially touched by the professionalism and personalized care from the Manager, Cora Tong. As a Platinum Elite member, I requested room upgrade with my nightly awards. Ms. Tong made suggestion on available rooms and made notes on our upgrade. Once we moved in, Ms. Tong would check on us to make sure that everything was OK. Ms. Tong best exemplifies the leadership and management style at Marriott Marquis SH City Center. For that, the 3 nights stay there is truly a highlight of our Shanghai trip.

I think this hotel location in a good location, is one of the better hotels in Shanghai. The room has a lot space including a twin bed and a bath tub. The location was really nice as there were a lot of malls full of restaurants around the hotel. The hotel pool was a little run down but usable and great for kids. The hotel also uses robots to deliver items like water bottles and laundry bags to guest in need.

Despite the hotel being clean, spacious, and in a great location, it’s unfortunately not family friendly at all. We were a group of multiple families with toddlers and made our booking 3 months in advance, clearly requesting rooms on the same floor or connecting rooms. On the day of check-in, we were told that no rooms were available on the same floor and that we had to pay extra for connecting rooms. This was really disappointing and doesn’t make sense for such a large 5-star hotel that had plenty of time to prepare. The receptionist, Koi, is not accommodating and escalated the issue to her manager Grace Cong, but she never came back with a solution and simply disappeared. The whole process took us 1 hour plus and the only solution if to pay extra charge for 2 rooms located on the same floor in this 5-stars hotel. To add on, we booked for 3 nights stay at this hotel which to us is fair to request for a same floor room as travel with kiddos. As Marriott Bonvoy members, this was by far our worst experience at any Marriott property. It’s also the first time we’ve ever been charged just to have 2 rooms on the same floor as the only choice available is to get the connecting rooms with extra charge per night

The hotel is incredibly well-located—just steps away from Nanjing Road, Shanghai’s iconic shopping and entertainment strip, and within walking distance to The Bund, where the skyline view is simply unforgettable, especially at night. The service at the hotel was world-class. The staff were warm, attentive, and always ready to help with a smile. My room was spacious, modern, and impeccably clean, with large windows offering stunning views of the city. The bed was exceptionally comfortable, making it a perfect retreat after a day of exploring. Breakfast was a delight—with a wide variety of both Western and Asian options, everything was fresh and delicious. The hotel also features a lovely lounge, a well-equipped fitness center, and a peaceful indoor pool. What made the stay even more special was the convenience of being right in the heart of the city—morning strolls along The Bund, evening shopping at Nanjing Road, and the ability to return to a peaceful, luxurious environment at the end of the day made it the perfect balance of adventure and relaxation. Highly recommended for business travelers, couples, and tourists alike. I’d absolutely return!

Great location as it is near to metro and Yu Garden. Can buy most of the souvenirs. Hotel staff will try their best to accommodate to requests. They even have a vending machine with snacks, drinks and amenities. Not easy to find a hotel with rooms accommodating a family of 4.

10/10 location, next to Shanghai Yu Garden and the bund and all other tourist destinations. Fantastic hotel, location is the best for tourists and the night view is incredible. Rooms are nice and clean and the staff is friendly and supportive. Gym is great for an Asian hotel and the night view of the Shanghai Yu garden from the pool is incredible. I did encounter an issue though where the hotel ruined the food they were supposed the have frozen for me but they did make it right by reimbursing me for the spoiled items, though to me the items were priceless as they were gifts.

I paid for king (bed) delux room. It comes with a big bed and big bathroom with tub and shower. Room size of 340sq mt approx. I was asked at checkin if i minded not getting a tub, I said ok. Then I was asked if i was single, which i replied yes. I got a corner room half of what I paid for, on a low floor with noisy neighbours on both sides. I'm 6'4" which was why I booked king, bed was barely queen and my feet hanging off. Room was half sq ft or what i paid for and I had trouble even walking around the room. My friends who travelled with me and paid less got better rooms and higher floors.

I had tried this hotel in other European countries and I really liked it but here in Shanghai the service was not satisfactory, the front desk was not friendly and helpful, even when I asked for checking in at 15 they told it may take longer, come back later! All in all my experience was not good, the room was clean, we asked for the view of the bind but all we had was the view of two skyscrapers ( the tallest one and the one like bottle opener!)

As described, it is a true "classical" hotel - dated, but functional. Great location being right next to Yu Garden and walkable distance from the Bund and Metro Station. The fellow hotel guests can varied from holiday makers, salarymen/women, heavily drunks and others.

I left this hotel after the first night. This hotel is a nightmare. The room is very outdated, has a wet smell and the bedsheet felt wet too. My window was facing some construction/ dumpster site and it was very unpleasant to look outside. I regret staying here. I moved to st Regis and it was much much better.

We spent 5 nights at the Sukhothai Shanghai. The location is fantastic (close to metro but you can just walk to French concession e.g.) breakfast excellent and staff very friendly. The gym is well equipped. The room was very spacious and well decorated.

It's a decent room, but honestly for 250 a night, this is nothing at all like sukthothai in Bangkok. The pool is even indoors. Location is awkward backside of the mall, it's not really a 5 star in my opinion. It's def not good value for Shanghai. It's not a knock on the hotel, it's just hkri run so it charges a premium for the location. Overall footprint of the hotel is actually very small for a typical 5 star.

I'm absolutely thrilled with my recent stay at Radisson Blu Hotel Shanghai New World! From the moment I arrived, the staff went above and beyond to make me feel at home. The check-in process was seamless, and my room was spacious, clean and comfortable, with a stunning view of the city that made every morning a treat. One of the standout features of this hotel is its incredible location, it's perfectly positioned to explore all the local attractions, restaurants, and shops. It was within walking distance to Nanjing street the most iconic shopping street in Shanghai. The hotel's amenities were fantastic - the fitness center was well-equipped, the breakfast buffet was delicious and had plenty of options. What really impressed me, though, was the attention to detail and genuine warmth of the staff. They were always happy to help with anything I needed, and their insider knowledge of the city was invaluable. Overall, I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a stay with a great location, excellent service, and comfortable accommodations. It's the perfect base for exploring the city and making unforgettable memories.

Fantastic hotel in the center of Shanghai close to shopping malls and museums. Also near to the metro station People Square. It is a remarkable building in the city We stayed here for a short holiday and we enjoyed this hotel very much. The hotel rooms are large, well prepared and clean. Great and friendly service from the hotel staff! There is a very nice swimming pool, sauna and gym available. This is one of our top favourite hotels in our travel history! We will return!

Lovely room and bathroom, with amazing view of the bund etc and love that you could open window. staff were good. Breakfast was great however they make you scan your room key like children which causes a queue which is annoying so loses a point for that. Plus the pool is bright and feels like a community centre rather than relaxing pool and spa. It’s open until 11pm though which is great!

Can’t complain! Loved the room, the GYM, and the location. Their gym had really nice equipment and I was able to maintain my workout lifting regimen (deadlifts, bench press, treadmills, rowing machine). Staff was nice and hotel is literally connected to an awesome mall. First time in Shanghai and I was thoroughly impressed!

I would give Shangri-La Pudong, Shanghai a 4-star rating. The overall stay was good, but there are a few areas that can be improved. The towels could be cleaner, as some had light stains. However, the food was delicious—especially the in-room dining options. Though a bit pricey (around 1,000 SGD for five days), we understand that hotel food often comes with higher prices, so that's expected and not a major complaint. One thing to note is the waiting time for in-room dining—it can take between 45 minutes to an hour, so a little more speed in service would be appreciated. I would like to highlight the room cleaner—she was very kind and truly hardworking. She made sure our room was always clean and comfortable, and her dedication didn’t go unnoticed. Overall, we had a pleasant stay. With a few improvements, this hotel could easily earn a perfect 5 stars. Thank you, Shangri-La Pudong, for the warm hospitality.

This hotel can easily be counted among the Top 5 hotels in Shanghai in terms of location. It’s the Shangri-La Hotel — the one you always see when looking across the Bund towards the Pudong skyline. The location is outstanding. Just across the street is the massive IFC Mall, which houses nearly every luxury brand you can imagine. The mall is directly connected to Line 2 of the metro, making it very convenient to get anywhere in the city. The rooms are spacious, comfortable, and decorated in a classic style, which made my stay very pleasant. The view from the room was absolutely stunning and unforgettable. On the downside, most of the staff had difficulty communicating in English. Only a few were able to speak English, so conversations were sometimes challenging. Also, the food at the first-floor lobby lounge was not very good. Still, thanks to the unbeatable location and the incredible view, I would definitely consider staying here again on my next visit to Shanghai. Overall, a very satisfying hotel experience.

I had a 3-night stay at Pudong Shangri-La Shanghai. From my room, I had a clear view of the city and the river that surrounds it. The room was spacious and comfortable, and the housekeeping service was excellent and very clean. When staying in a suite or higher category, you can enjoy afternoon tea and pastries in a dedicated restaurant area for these room types. The in-room beverages included Evian water in elegant glass bottles. The breakfast selection wasn’t too diverse, but it suited my taste very well👌👌

I’d like to commend Mr. Huang from the reception (he was wearing a black jacket and glasses) for his outstanding service on 21 October. He was incredibly attentive and went above and beyond to help me resolve an issue with my food delivery. He even accompanied me to the collection locker and used his own phone to contact the hotline to sort it out quickly and professionally. Truly excellent service — I really appreciate his help!

Stayed here a couple of years ago. Excellent location for walking around the sights. I'm in Pudong in around 6 days time and seriously thinking about staying in this classic old building once again. The dinner and breakfast buffet is something to behold. Stayed in the river wing and was up most of the night just taking in the views and activities on the river

My stay at Shangri La Pudong, 上海 is from 1/11 to 4/11. As my wechat got problem to book tix in advance for 上海天文馆. Searched for a good hotel nearby and this stay didnt dissapoint the experience. Having to be in a historical buiilding that has been well maintained in a very pristine conditions and having so much appreciative antics, it brings much appreciations on how the managements and staff has painstakingly preserve the essence of the hotel. I have been offered a good room upgrade which i definately enjoys the space, unfortunately didnt manage to get a good view of the bund lights decorations as it faces the side road. Breakfast was also great, selections is not as huge as other hotels I have been previously, but those select few rotating dishes taste delicious and every morning I looked forward to breakfast of xiao long bao. While Front Desk staff ,Concierge, Executive Lounge team has been superb, I could notice that the morning breakfast staff would seem to be new and slightly inexperience. All in all, my Shanghai vacation was made great due to my stay in the pleasant hotel.

The Fairmont Peace Hotel 上海和平饭店 is less a hotel and more a time machine with room service. Opened in 1929 as the Cathay Hotel by Sir Victor Sassoon (a man who basically decided Shanghai needed Vegas before Vegas existed), it still stands on the Bund like an Art Deco pyramid doing a permanent mic drop. Walk through the doors and suddenly you’re not in 2025, you’re in a Shanghai where tuxedoed millionaires clinked martinis with qipao-clad movie stars, and jazz was considered international diplomacy. The marble floors gleam so hard you could land a plane on them, the chandeliers look like they were designed to outshine the sun, and somewhere in the corner the Old Jazz Band keeps playing, proving that neither music nor musicians ever truly retire, they just become historical exhibits with trumpets. Rooms? Plush enough to make you wonder if you should sleep or just lie awake admiring the wallpaper. Service? The kind where staff anticipate your needs before you do, which is charming and slightly terrifying. And the bar? It makes you feel like you’re in a 1930s spy thriller, waiting for someone to slide you a top-secret file along with your gin fizz. Yes, it’s absurdly expensive. Yes, it’s over the top. A flawless 5-night family stay (18–23 September) at this living Art Deco museum, Fairmont Peace Hotel exceeded every expectation. Our Fairmont King Room felt like an elegant apartment at 49m², with a super-king bed, even larger than advertised, luxurious finishes, and immaculate twice-daily housekeeping. The hotel’s heritage tours made the history come alive (don’t miss them!), and there were charming nooks to discover everywhere. Location is unbeatable, directly opposite the Bund and moments from the main shopping strip yet the interiors are serenely quiet. We loved the Jazz Bar, and the gym and pool were top-notch, but it was the service that truly made our stay: every staff member was warm and proactive, and a special thank-you to Alexander, who checked in on us throughout our stay and even arranged a private tour. The team graciously accommodated a late checkout for our evening flight and made it effortless when we decided to add an extra night.

Wow! What an exceptional hotel. The Fairmont peace hotel was truly a stay to remember. We stayed in the deluxe king room, the rooms were very clean, extremely big and the beds were super comfy. The staff were absolutely incredible making you feel special the moment you step foot in the door. We dined in the Chinese and the western restaurant, both exceeding our expectations by far. We had the pleasure of seeing the old jazz band late one evening, the atmosphere and the band were both incredible. The breakfast spread was one of the best we have ever seen, accommodating to any taste. The location couldn’t be better, as soon as you leave the hotel you’re on Nanjing road, with the bund right on your doorstep. A special thank you to Fancy, Vivienne, Ben and the entire team, who did everything they could to make out stay perfect. The interior of the hotel is like nothing we’ve ever seen, with an amazing blend of history and luxury it is truly unique. This is an amazing hotel, truly a memorial stay.

Front office manager ( I think) and club manager , both of them made our stay easier and less hassle . We booked the club , the quality of food wasn’t great . The location was great!!! Tips : club wasn’t really valued ( for us ) . Food quality was low . We have booked early with prepaid conditions directly with the hotel ( DON’T DO THAT) The rate was very swing and one week before checking in we have found that we paid much higher than booking.com. Some staff at the club could speak a little bit of English which we totally understood. When we ordered Coke Zero , she couldn’t get what I meant . She didn’t even keep attempting but laughing . She was correct, a big joke, very funny !

Excellent hotel and location. Right by everything. Staff was wonderful, bell boys were great- they called us cabs daily. Food was wonderful (the buffet was actually a great perk each morning), and they had tons of spaces to do work. I even did a livestream downstairs. And the room had a fantastic view. Also wonderful gym.

This hotel is a joke. Booked through Amex FHR no upgrade and got a leaky room at first… freaking water drooping from the bedroom ceiling nonstop. The technician immediately knew what was going on and located a tube from a hidden corner where two bucket full of water got poured out - seems like it’s a recurring issue and yet it’s ok to let customers take the chances . Was sent to another room on a lower floor, with a moldy smell and construction noise from the next room. We wanted to give it another chance hoping the air conditioning would clear out the air and the construction would not last much longer. We came back around midnight but the smell was still very strong, and we were too tired to pack and switch room again, so we opted for an air purifier as a solution. Giving it the benefit of the doubt, we fell asleep but woke up at 6am by the lingering smell and suffocating feeling of toxic air. Me and my partner both couldn’t stand it anymore and asked for a room switch again, and amusingly got sent to another room on a different floor that was slightly less smelly but also having a construction right next door. Spa was equally horrible, not what one would expect from a high end hotel … I’m not sure the therapist was even legit given how strange the whole session went - making conversation that lacked boundary and scratching my hairline for a couple minutes as some kind of special technique? My back hurt afterwards when I specifically asked not to apply pressure on the back. When the session ended, I was told I would be served hot tea while I was given a cold one. One of the receptionists also asked if I had paid enough deposit to cover the fee and low-key pushingly suggesting me to leave while I was still having my tea… Too many details that made this place looked like an illegitimate workshop. Upon check out, we talked to the manager about the chain of unpleasant events and he offered us future upgrade, as if we would ever come back lol - why would anyone want to relive this nightmare.

Nice luxury hotel in good location - slightly outdated decor and vibe. Luxury property with very nice quality bathroom, bedroom, and living room. Executive lounge on 55th floor is massive but outdated and the food and drinks options are not great. Way below the equivalent at JW Marriott in Asia. Overall, a good option but a bit outdated.

Service was disgraceful, I booked through the Shangri-La Circle app and was initially given a room right next to an elevator, when I complained about the noise I was moved to a room right under the Horizon Club which was even louder. The staff also refused multiple times to let my partner and I use the minibar and said they would charge us extra for what we used, despite it being listed as an included amenity. I expect better from Shangri-La group and this experience was extremely disappointing.

Shanghai is a great city with an amazing vibe. This Shangri-la without doubt makes the city doubly fantastic. The rooms are spacious, well appointed and exude comfort and elegance. Strongly recommended for business and personal travel alike. Location is top notch.

An amazing stay for 8 nights at this hotel. Wonderfully decorated large room with urban outlook over Jing'an Temple. Very good breakfast options, large gym with many machines and weights. Big mixed pool with gender segregated steam/sauna/jacuzzi room. An excellent location surrounds by fashion shops, cafes, restaurants and handful of bars. Conveniently located above metro line 2.

Tonight, August 31, 2025, I went to the Punch Room restaurant at the hotel to celebrate my birthday. I ordered a cocktail, a main course (beef pasta), and a portion of fries. The cocktail was served within 10 minutes without any issue. However, the main course took 45 minutes to arrive, and it was cold, as were the fries, which were also not served at the same time. I ultimately decided to eat the fries anyway, even though they were cold, as sending them back would have further delayed the meal. I sent the pasta back, but after more than an additional hour, it still had not been brought to me. By 11:00 PM, I had to ask for the bill: I had spent over two hours at the restaurant without ever receiving my main course properly. What was supposed to be a quiet, enjoyable birthday dinner turned into a complete disaster. Having worked in hospitality for six years and being accustomed to visiting this type of establishment for work, I have never experienced such a poor level of service. The management staff were not even able to offer any form of compensation. At other establishments within the group, such as The Edition, I have never encountered issues like this. I will not be returning, and I cannot recommend this restaurant.

The location was absolutely perfect—right next to a Starbucks, surrounded by endless shops, Pop Mart just a 3-minute walk away, department stores nearby, and multiple subway stations within 3–5 minutes. The lobby was wonderful, with a great scent and atmosphere that immediately made us want to stay. However, cleanliness and noise were issues. We had to switch rooms once: the first room’s carpet was damp, almost as if someone had spilled or thrown up on it. Thinking it was clean, I stepped on it barefoot—very unpleasant. That room came with chocolate and fruit, while the second room (where we were moved) had a tote bag instead. It made me wonder if amenities varied by room. The second room itself had a very awkward layout. Later, I realized it was right next to the housekeeping storage. You can imagine how many times that door opened and closed, slamming throughout the day. The layout was odd: you entered straight into the bathroom, with the closet inside, the fridge beside it, then the bedroom and desk area, with a large window on the left. Neither the first nor second room had a great view. Honestly, I didn’t bother to call again to switch rooms—it was too tiring. But the noise was relentless: slamming doors, neighbors playing music that echoed into the bathroom, and groups of women laughing and chatting loudly at night. If you’re sensitive to noise, I’d recommend looking elsewhere. Amenities: The rooftop bar was quite small but offered a stunning view. However, the seats with the best view required bottle service, which felt a bit limiting. Upstairs, there was also a separate rooftop area with a restaurant/chill space. We didn’t dine there, just looked around and left, so I’m not sure how the system works. Still, if you simply want to enjoy the view, you can walk up there, take a look around, and it’s worth doing so. The pool was unimpressive—small and uninviting, and while there may have been a sauna, I didn’t check. The gym was tiny but decent. Breakfast wasn’t particularly special. The dumplings were tasty, and the offerings seemed to rotate every two days, but overall it didn’t feel like a true 5-star hotel breakfast. A couple of breads, some fruits—just average. Service is the main reason I gave 4 stars. While they did move us to another room, I still felt they shouldn’t have assigned such problematic rooms in the first place. The initial room especially should have been inspected more carefully before handing over the keys. On the other hand, whenever we called for anything, the staff responded very quickly and efficiently—hard to stay upset because of how prompt and helpful they were. The hotel’s gifts and small touches were very cute: tote bags, chocolates (the milk chocolate was delicious, the white less so, but I still think about it), slippers for both indoor and outdoor use, Le Labo amenities, and even travel-sized gifts to take home. Downsides: The bathroom was dangerously slippery—so much so I wondered how they haven’t been sued yet. They did provide a mat, and if you use it, it’s fine, but the mat is small, so you still need to be careful. I didn’t use the bathtub—it just felt off. The bedding was slightly damp, and shockingly, I found someone else’s hair inside the sheets. For those who aren’t too sensitive, it might be fine, but we even bought our own sheets and covers at a nearby Miniso to feel more comfortable. Overall, if you’re not too particular, this could still be a satisfying stay. But for the price, I think many guests might feel a bit disappointed. Still, the staff’s fast response whenever we called for help made it hard to stay upset—that’s why I gave it 4 stars.

Room is really good.. location also good, just a bit need to walk from street as this hotel is on Nanjing road which is walking street. The service is terrible, I was in the toilet naked then someone go in the my bathroom!! YES and she keep saying in Chinese while still open my bathroom door seeing me naked!! Another time i was sleeping and rest as it s my vacation trip. Someone came in my room without knocking or even ringing my door!! How terrible, i was extremely scare and she come in for nothing! Put 1 can of water on my table while others 6 cans still on that table!! She still take some time until she gone!! Terrible services here, try to avoid this hotel. There are a lot of hotel in this area which a lot more cheaper. If you come with AMEX, your 100usd credit will be difficult to use as they have sooooooo many condition and even limit time sit on the table until 10pm with deep corner table with no view. Terrible! Be careful with all your belonging here!

Reviewing the rooftop bar “Roof” - one of the best views in Shanghai. When we went there was not a single other person present. It was just me and my elderly father and they insisted we sit on high bar stools back behind the plants rather than lower more age appropriate chairs because the lower chairs were near the front with a better view and required a bottle of wine to be purchased to sit there. We asked if a minimum spend would be ok but it was strictly just the wine, and I think maybe only champagne. For the hour we were there not one other person arrived so it seemed like an odd rule. The wine was also about 3-4 times the cost for an equivalent bottle of moet in Australia ($270aud). Would still recommend going for one beer to enjoy the view but for the reasons above I think the service is very poor. It would be much more acceptable had there been demand for tables or even if I wasn’t with my elderly father but the strange overpriced wine rule was weird in an empty bar and not providing a more comfortable seat to an elderly person when every seat was free, doesn’t seem sensible.

One of the best hotels I have ever stayed in; elegant opulence and luxurious without being over the top. Waldorf Astoria Shanghai on the Bund is situated in the best location in Shanghai with wonderful views of the Bund if you are fortunate enough to get one of the rooms with a view; if not, the Bund is a mere 5 minute walk away! I have to commend all staff that I encountered - from the polite bell boys to the friendly reception to the friendly breakfast staff to the incredibly attentive housekeeping to the accommodating gym staff. Nothing was too much trouble! The rooms were clean, spacious and immaculate; housekeeping have an amazing attention to detail and I was so impressed with the fresh room everyday during my stay. I loved how grand the bathrooms were with their Aesop amenities, full-length mirrors, marble details, separate bath/shower and Japanese Toto toilets. I thoroughly enjoyed the wonderful breakfast especially the made to order items like the Shanghai noodles and the amazing made to order coffee (especially the iced latte!) The hotel is faultless and I would not hesitate to stay here again.

Excellent Location, most of the things you would like to see as a tourist is within walking distance.. The room is amazing, big plus that they have japanese toilers. Service is great, everyone from the moment i stepped in was helpful and nice.. Breakfast was solid but can be better, while you can order omelette, theres no way to customize it to your liking. They have bagels but did not have cream cheese for several days. Also the lounge have nothing in it except some drinks.

Our stay at the Waldorf Astoria Shanghai on the Bund was exceptional. The staff were exceptionally attentive throughout my stay. I was particularly impressed by Tracy from the breakfast buffet restaurant. Her professionalism and keen attention to detail stood out. After I gave feedback on a poorly prepared dish on the first day, she not only remembered it but followed up the next morning to ask if it had improved. To my surprise, she even offered a personalized version tailored to my preferences. Her initiative and dedication truly elevated the experience to a 5-star level.

This is a legendary brand but the staff at the Waldorf Shanghai is clueless and the team lack basic communication Negatives - check in was supposed to be at 3pm but at 3pm, the new staff simply play it down and told us we need to wait another hour ++ or so because it wasn’t “ready” - the cafe / restaurant on site advertise as a place to chill and drink for hotel guest on their website and pamphlet but when I was there, the staff told us we MUST order their high tea , which contradicts what they’re promoting - the staff is like playing roulette and at times you will get friendly staff and at times you get attitude from them - the deposit was also another ridiculous issue. The cost of the hotel was about $3.5k USD ++. But then we staff insist that our “deposit” for the stay is around 15k RMB which is ridiculous for a 5-6 night stay in a normal room Much is left to be desired. Positives - the duty manager in-charge, Steven Diep was fantastic and special mentioned has to be given to him for handling the issue Takeaway - your stay will pretty much depend on the experience of the staff which is something not expected of a legendary 5-star brand

The service was exceptional, with the front desk staff and concierge speaking great English and going above and beyond to make our stay special. The attention to detail was impressive, especially when it came to our little ones. The staff provided them with small indoor slippers and towels, making them feel like princes and princesses. The hotel's family-friendly atmosphere was palpable, and we felt right at home. We're already planning our next stay, and the Mandarin Oriental is top of our list. We had an absolutely wonderful stay at the Mandarin Oriental Shanghai for our girls’ trip, booked through the Mandarin Oriental Fan Club program. From the moment we arrived, everything felt seamless and special. Our room was beautifully appointed with an incredible view of the Pearl Tower – a highlight of our trip. Booking through the Fan program made it even more memorable, with thoughtful touches and benefits that really enhanced the experience. The Club Lounge was outstanding – elegant, quiet, and with excellent food and drinks throughout the day. The staff went above and beyond to make us feel comfortable and welcome, always friendly and attentive without being intrusive. Overall, every detail was perfect – from the check-in experience to the housekeeping and the service in the lounge. All the details at the Mandarin Oriental Shanghai was simply beautiful. The room was spacious, featuring a stunning round bathtub — elegant and relaxing. and the hotel’s services and facilities were equally impressive, also for the concierge they were very helpful. Additionally, guests can request a bidet spray in the bathroom, which is highly appreciated for us as Arab travelers. We experienced a minor issue during our stay, but it was resolved promptly and efficiently by Mr. Luigi Savarese. His swift and professional response left a lasting impression, and because of this outstanding service, we now consider the Mandarin Oriental our top choice whenever visiting Shanghai. A heartfelt thank you to him for making our stay even more enjoyable.

I have pleasant stay at this place. The room is fine and spacious. The service is undoubtedly reliable if it’s mandarin oriental. There is a free shuttle service for guests which we took to the nearby mall. Anyway, breakfast could be improved. There should be more protein like salmon or almond milk. Also the toilet at the breakfast room is not quite clean.

We were delighted to receive a complimentary upgrade upon arrival. The room was good, and the service was excellent. The breakfast buffet was a highlight, featuring a vast and high-quality selection of international, Chinese, and Japanese options. However, the major drawback was the faulty shower. Water continuously leaked onto the bathroom floor, likely due to a drainage problem. To avoid flooding, we had to use an extremely slow water flow all morning. This is unacceptable for a 5-star hotel.

Exceptional Service at Mandarin Oriental Pudong Stayed in the Club Mandarin River View Room (2003) and had a wonderful experience. The room was clean, spacious, and well-appointed. While the common pool changing room feels a bit aged, everything remains functional and well-kept. What truly sets this hotel apart is its exceptional staff. Leo made check-in smooth and welcoming, and the Club Lounge team — Jo, Yolanda, Oven and others — were consistently attentive and warm. The spa staff, especially Newman and Kyra, also delivered outstanding service. Overall, a polished and relaxing stay with top-notch hospitality. Highly recommended for anyone seeking a serene riverside escape in Shanghai.

First time staying here, always liked staying in JW but this one has given me quite a bit of mixed feelings. Before that in the app, I couldn't even know my original room type or there was any upgrades the room type just disappeared just with the booking. Location is not bad actually right near Renmin Square station. It's probably less than 5 minutes walk from the station exit 11. However at night, they close the exit after 930pm and same for exit 10 so you have to walk further by getting out from exit 9. Don't know what nonsense is that. From the ground floor you take the lift to 38th floor reception for check in, then I got upgraded and took another lift up to the 59th floor. What I didn't like staying so high, the lift waiting times are long. I guess that's why there are seats by the lift. Got to the room. It was pretty big but it felt very dated. Old, dark and wooden was my impression. There was no rain shower and there were these 2 massage nozzles which were pretty useless. Visited the lounge during afternoon supposed to have finger food but only like scone and madeleine available. Went back again in the evening and there was more selection. Interesting library on the 60th floor, also the highest library in the world. Worth taking a short visit only accessible via from the stairs in the lounge. Had a look at the amenities. Visited the gym and saw the saunas and jacuzzi. Then wanted to visit the pools which was a long and complicated walk to the next building and taking a lift. Saw the outdoor and indoor pools. Had the breakfast on the 38th floor and was quite disappointed with the food. Didn't find the selection good, some of the items I took were not even warm. Disappointed by the scrambled eggs. The first bite I took and there was egg shells. When I sat down the staff asked me if I wanted any drink and I said green tea and they also totally forgot about it. Service needs improvement especially at the breakfast area. Normal but not exceptional stay with Marriott JW, that is not usually the case.

There are not many good things I can say about this hotel. Even for a Marriott they are way over priced for everything. The pricing is completely out of hand in this hotel to the point where they should be ashamed of themselves. They charged me $11 for a extra small size coffee. Honestly shameful. I am attaching a photo of the coffee. The room rate is $280 per night and the rooms look worn down and just not worth anywhere near that type of money. Being a Titanium guest I would expect better.

The price is slightly less than other excellent hotels in shanghai but the quality of facilities feels much less ... the lobby is based on 38th floor which makes waiting for taxis a bit awkward. Breakfast is very chinese oriented. ... it is hard to buy any food in the hotel after 9 pm. The aircon noise in my room was too much. Positives Location is great. The view from the windoes are superb. Most staff know english well.

I enjoyed my recent six-night stay in August 2025 at the JW Marriott Shanghai at Tomorrow Square Hotel. The friendly, abundant staff smiled at me, said hello, and made me feel welcome. The restaurant staff at the JW Grill, where I ate one night, was especially friendly and accommodating, and the food was very good, too. Also, I had dinner at the Chinese restaurant on-site. The 59th floor club lounge with its spectacular views out over the tall buildings of Shanghai, had amazingly good food, such as Kung Pao chicken, and excellent service. I had great food, too, every morning for breakfast at the buffet on the 38th floor. I felt good in my large room and comfortable bed and felt quite satisfied with the daily, timely housekeeping service to my room. I swam every day in the beautiful, outdoor swimming pool and went into the hot tub on the 6th floor.

I have stayed in this hotel multiple times. The rooms are on high floors with superb view of Shanghai, especially the night views are wonderful. But the rooms are dated. The staffs are not fantastic but they do what they do best. The breakfast restaurant is small when compared with other Marriott’s hotels. The food are not excellent too with limited choices.

We were in town for a special occasion, a friend’s bachelor weekend and were upgraded to a fantastic suite. Absolutely insane room. Huge thanks to the team who made it happen. The breakfast was out of this world. A special shoutout to Max for the outstanding service and for sharing so many insights into Chinese cuisine and life in Shanghai. Every single W team member made us feel truly welcome. While I’m not used to executive lounge benefits at W Hotels, this property offers a fantastic evening experience from 6 to 8 pm, with high-quality bites and drinks. It felt like a full à la carte menu with premium options. The spa and especially the gym were another highlight. The gym is one of the best I’ve seen in a hotel and offers everything you could possibly need. If you are visiting Shanghai, I highly recommend staying at the W. Thank you also to Timmy and the concierge team for their great support throughout our stay. This was truly a “wow” experience. Thank you for making my first visit to China so special. This is a truly remarkable hotel and well worth recommending. The property is beautifully designed with a luxurious atmosphere, and the service staff are attentive, professional, and always eager to help. The guest rooms are well-equipped and well-maintained, making the stay very comfortable. The location is unbeatable, right next to the Baiyulan Plaza, with direct access to the office towers, Metro Line 12 downstairs, and a two-level food court offering plenty of dining options. From the room, you can enjoy stunning views of the Huangpu River, the dong fang Ming zhu Tower, and Shanghai Tower, especially breathtaking at night. Dining is another highlight. The in-room service exceeded expectations, with dishes such as the beef burger and roasted chicken rivaling fine dining standards in the U.S. The breakfast buffet is equally impressive, offering a wide variety of both Western and Asian selections. Even the barista’s latte art adds a refined touch to the morning experience. The only drawbacks are that the air conditioning is not strong enough, the room temperature could not be set lower than 24°C, which felt a bit too warm to me, and the water pressure in the shower is noticeably weak, which detracts from the overall comfort. Overall, this hotel excels in nearly every aspect—hardware, location, service, and food. If both the air conditioning system and water pressure were improved, it would be nothing short of perfect.

It’s rare for me to leave a review for any Bonvoy hotels but I must say this was such an amazing experience that I can’t walk away without acknowledging the fantastic hospitality provided by the W team in Shanghai. The check in process was super smooth and the staff was cordial in providing me with a complimentary upgrade to a higher floor and a nicer view of the Bund. I wasn’t sure what to expect but the moment I walked to my room, my jaws dropped. What an absolutely stunning view. The fitness area was incredible, some of the most advanced exercise machines. I also enjoyed swimming in the outdoor pool and used the sauna spa facility. They take great care of the environment. Since there’s no executive lounge, they offer happy hour drinks which is between 6pm to 8pm, offering cocktails and various drinks at no charge to the Bonvoy members with Elite status. Breakfast selections were vast and delicious, covering from Western, European to authentic Chinese food. The entire team from the staff in the downstairs lobby by the front door to the folks working across different departments (Gym/Pool, bar, restaurant) they all showed great level of enthusiasm in providing the highest quality of service. Most specifically, I’d like to acknowledge Claire for all her help and support, from recommending the best bars and restaurants to addressing any particular questions or concerns the guest may have. The management is very lucky to have her on their team. I can’t wait to return to Shanghai again as I’m even more excited about my next stay at this amazing hotel.

I would like to say the trip usually doesn't go wrong when you stay in a W hotel. Decided to stay 2 nights here and would say was impressed by quite a lot of things big and small. Arrived early in the morning which was not time for check in at 9am. Got to know they have upgraded me and the room wasn't available yet, but they provided me with a temporary room for me to rest and do some work before the room was ready, and informed me they would let me know when the room was ready. Spent some time in the room resting and out for lunch. After lunch room was ready and got transferred to another room which had a great view of the Bund. Went out exploring some of the facilities in the hotel, the gym, pools, sauna and bars. In the late afternoon the staff came and brought some complimentary snacks as well. The staff here are all very well mannered and informative. Had experience with a few and it was pleasant. There's a popcorn machine near the check in counter where there would be stuff making popcorn and handling out to guests. Impressed with the facilities, but the best of all is always their breakfast. One thing to note is W breakfast is always fabulous and never disappoint. It's so good it makes you want to go rounds. It's not exactly by the Bund but near it and next to hotel is a mall with a metro station so location is good and its accessible. Some of the places are reachable by bus and there are a few bus stops which are within 5 minutes walking distance from the hotel. Awesome and highly recommended.

One of the best Hotels I've ever stayed in. The breakfast and view are shockingly amazing. Staff is super nice too and the rooms are really cool. However, the internet was absolutely horrible. Unusuable, please increase your bandwith and wifi policies - 90% of the time the internet just wouldn't give you any kilobytes whatsoever.

Awesome Hotel with real 5 star experience. Has a good restaurant (Elements) offering good Chinese and Western cuisine. Located very close to the Oriental Pearl TV tower, and the Bund area. Staying here for the last 10days and the Kempinski hotel is providing the best possible services. Staff here are very friendly..

Solid 5-star value hotel. Although rooms are a bit dated, the space is really huge and I would highly recommend paying a bit extra or upgrading to the rooms with river view. The 24-hour gym is situated on the top floor and has nice views of the Oriental Pearl Tower. Didn't try the indoor pool out as it wasn't made clear that you'd need a swimming cap. This can be bought on the spot if needed. Breakfast for me is the star of the show for the hotel as they have an extensive buffet spread where you'll be spoilt for choice, plus a generous operating hours. The Chinese restaurant on the first floor is also highly recommended! Went twice and both times it was very quiet and the food was really delicious. The staff was very attentive as well.

This is a really fine hotel with great views of The Bund and only a quick metro ride away from the heart of Shanghai. I recieved amazingly attentive service from all the hotel staff. If your room includes lounge access then you are in for a real treat and it's not something they make a big deal of on their website. However, there is an a la carte breakfast (buffet downstairs gets pretty busy so having somewhere else to go is great), lunch (again a la carte. I recommend the quessadillas if you need a break) and late afternoon includes a great buffet, hot and cold foods plus alcohol options (see pictures). With such great views from my room, I actually found it difficult to leave the hotel.

Our six-night stay at the Grand Kempinski Hotel Shanghai was absolutely amazing. From the fantastic service to the comfy rooms and stunning views, it really made our trip special. The concierge team was brilliant. Every morning, we would check in with them for advice on what to do for the day, and they were so helpful in organising transport for us. They made everything so easy and stress-free, which made exploring the city even more enjoyable. Our room was super spacious, with these huge floor-to-ceiling windows that looked out over the Bund, the Huangpu River, and the Oriental Pearl Tower. The view was incredible, and the room itself had this great mix of modern style and cosy comfort. It was the perfect spot to relax after a day of sightseeing. We started every morning with breakfast at the Elements Restaurant, and the food was fantastic. There was a great mix of Western and Asian dishes on offer, so there was something for everyone. It was a really nice way to kick off the day. We had booked an executive room, which gave us access to the Executive Club Lounge on the 28th floor. This spot was a total bonus – we enjoyed afternoon teas, evening cocktails, and a quiet place to chill or get a bit of work done. Plus, the views from up there were just breathtaking. The staff were really great too. We had a small issue during our stay, but it was sorted out super quickly by the hotel management. It was clear they really care about making sure their guests are happy. The hotel also has some shops on-site, which came in handy for picking up a few nice souvenirs without having to go far. Overall, the service at the hotel was friendly and super attentive – it really made a difference. One thing I’d say could be improved was the interaction with the “Ladies in Red,” who are sort of like the hotel ambassadors. They were always around and very professional, but their style felt a bit formal. It would have been nice if they’d felt a bit more approachable and personal. All up, the Grand Kempinski Hotel Shanghai was such a great place to stay. The service, the amazing room, and the location made it a trip to remember. Stayed at Kempinski already several times before. I want to send a special thanks to Lady in Red Eva and concierge Sky and Kaikai. They did an outstanding job to help me getting my suitcase "repaired" at Rimowa shop while I had to attend a business meeting. You really made my day. Wheneber I'll be again in Shanghai, there is no other option than staying at Grand Kempinski again. Everything is just perfect.

We had great experience in the hotel. The services are great provided by nice employees. The location is great near by lots of attractions and sightseeing.

This is a truest beautiful and luxurious hotel in a quaint and nice part of town. Plenty of amenities and walking distance to all the attractions on bund. Rooms are very nice and modern. My complaint is the service. We tried to check in at 11 AM and was told our room is not ready and to come back at 1 and it should be ready. We can me back at 2 to give them some extra time to have it ready and was told our actual room is not ready yet but we could get a lower floor room. Also sinks were clogged and kept filling up. I don’t think the service is up to par for a 5 star hotel.

Great location, clean and safe. Just a quick 5 min walk into the main tourist area on The Bund. Arguably the best view in the city on the roof top bar. The staff was great as well, i can't remember the skinny girls name who works at the bar up top but she provided great service.

This is not a 5 star hotel. Our room had coffee stains from previous guests and a ball of black hair on the carpet all week. The toilet clogged, as it did for others on our trip. Concierge often didn’t answer calls, and when we raised a taxi scam in real time, they showed no concern. The breakfast buffet had long lines, dirty tables, and frequently ran out of juice, jams, and cereal. This is a 3.5-star hotel at best. Location was good, and we appreciated the 3pm late checkout, but we won’t be back.

The night view from the hotel window is beautiful, but the service is poor. I arrived at the hotel at 4 PM, but I still couldn't check in because they were cleaning the room. Starting from the second day, my key card stopped working. I had to wait a long time to get a replacement key. The staff's service is slow and unfriendly.

Checked in on Chinese valentine day, super peak I guess, waited like 4 hours, only managed to get the room around 4pm, not a very pleasant experience, especially told off by the one of the reception staff, in a bit of frustrated tone, saying “ya, this is happening everyday, nothing we can do about it”, not a typical 5 stars hotel way of handling. Apart from that, hotel room view and breakfast is 5 stars. Choosing an off peak season to stay should be fine.

Terrible attitude. Get a 3 person room and still need to pay for a 3rd bed for a child. A 3 person room comes with 2 person bed 🤷🏼‍♂️ View is nice, rooms are big, but that's it. Nothing memorable. Hallway smells like smoke. Oh and it has the saddest indoor pool I've ever seen.

Had a great stay at the Courtyard Shanghai Central! The location is fantastic — surrounded by plenty of restaurants all within walking distance. The staff were friendly, welcoming, and always ready to help. My room was spacious, modern, and incredibly comfortable. Breakfast had a great variety of both continental and Chinese options, which was a nice touch. Would definitely stay here again!

The hotel room is overall clean and maintained, slightly outdated though. The beds are notably soft and seem worn, which may lead to some back discomfort. The hotel offers a limited pillow selection, which is appreciated, but a wider variety would enhance comfort. The breakfast is diverse and plentiful. Staff members are also helpful. While it's a bit far from the city center, the proximity to a subway station making it kind of accessible. Overall, a somewhat decent choice.

Location: About 10min walk from Shanghai Railway Station. 5 min walk to Line 1/12/13, Hanzhong station. Capitalstar mall above the station with food options and supermarkets. Room: Size is good although look old. Wifi is not so stable Breakfast: alot of option. Noodle station got dumpling and noodle option with dry or soup.

We loved the Courtyard’s prime central perch - just a 10-minute stroll from Shanghai Railway Station, perfect for our Suzhou day trip during a three-night Puxi stay. The hotel itself strikes a smart, business-savvy pose, fronted by a team that was unfailingly courteous, efficient, and quick to smooth our arrival. Check-in was brisk, with all the Platinum Marriott Bonvoy perks laid out clearly. That said, fresh from a two-night Pudong Courtyard stay near Disney, the rooms here felt modest by comparison - smaller beds, tighter bathrooms, a more compact workspace. Of course, in downtown Puxi, spatial premiums are the tax one pays for such convenience, and we took it in stride. What won us over despite the squeeze: 1. A 4 p.m. late check-out - perfect for our evening flight. 2. Housekeeping that impressed, even freshening the room on departure day. 3. A front desk and concierge team who were genuinely warm, resourceful, and eager to assist. 4. A breakfast buffet that punched above its weight - value-for-money, tasty, and with a generous spread. 5. Recreational perks - a pool and pickleball courts - we regrettably had no time to sample, but would happily return for.

As soon as breakfast buffet schedule closes they start mass trashing all the food and wouldn’t even allow to take a waffle with you to save it from trash. Staff is a bit inflexible, comparing to other hotels across the country not the greatest place to stay.

A hotel by the marriott near the office hub of foreign invested companies especially those from hong kong. The hotel has a very efficient management system, from your arrival till your departure, resting, eating, meeting, gym, everything. It could be challenging if you are visiting shanghai in winter for there is no heater here

I stayed for three nights. The hotel is not located in the town center, but it is near a long walking street lined with shops on both sides, as well as bars and restaurants nearby. The room was spacious but felt a bit dated. Breakfast can be crowded, so be prepared to queue for a while. There is a wide selection of food, including a variety of Japanese dishes, as you’d expect from the Okura brand. However, the Japanese food fell short compared to what I’ve experienced at other Okura properties worldwide. You might prefer sticking to the Chinese food options instead.

The rooms are a bit dated and in need of a makeover. The lobby needs renovation too. The view we got is spectacular though. The location is also fantastic. Being able to get to huai hai road easily. Service needs to be improved badly. The front desk people were unfriendly even though they are willing to attend to your questions. They are not warm abs welcoming. It’s like a job to them. No extra effort to show courtesy. The gym is nice and spacious and good enough for a simple workout. There is also a jacuzzi and sauna which is nice for relaxation.

A bit average for a 5 star hotel. Disappointing stay at the Okura Garden Hotel. Felt more like a 3/4 star at times. The lobby is very impressive and beautiful and the staff are friendly and provide some great service but there’s just several things that let it down. The rooms are quite dated and look worn/slightly damaged in places Some of the amenities provided are quite cheap and don’t feel very premium Gym is nice enough but annoyingly they charge you for a swimming cap to use the pool, which again feels pretty cheap and something a 3 star hotel would do, not a 5 star hotel. Overall I’d say save your money and go somewhere else as you’ll probably get the same thing for 2/3 of the price. Wish I tried a different 5 star now.

Highly Recommended! I stayed at the Okura Garden Hotel Shanghai this July, right after returning from Japan, and it instantly reminded me of being back in Kyoto. The hotel has a beautiful sense of history, yet everything is so well maintained. From the concierge staff to the front desk, everyone was warm, proactive, and extremely helpful. We had a evening flight, and the hotel kindly offered us a late check-out. Even after checking out, the front desk arranged for us to use the health club facilities so we could take a shower before heading to the airport—such thoughtful service! The health club includes a gym, swimming pool, and Japanese-style bath with hot and cold pools as well as a sauna, which made the experience even more enjoyable. The room was spacious and bright, with excellent bedding. The view overlooked the hotel’s garden, making it quiet and peaceful—perfect for a good night’s sleep. The location is outstanding, right between Nanjing Road and Huaihai Road, next to Changle Road and Ruijin Road. It’s one of the best spots for city walk. The hotel has several restaurants that are well loved by locals. Hotel guests have 20% discount. I tried the Japanese restaurant, Yamazato. The tempura was average, but the sashimi rice bowl was outstanding—freshness on par with Tokyo’s Toyosu Market! It came with salmon, sea bream, three different cuts of tuna, uni, and salmon roe—absolutely delightful. This hotel will definitely be my family’s top choice whenever we visit Shanghai again.

We stayed four nights at this hotel. While they weren’t flexible with early check-in and didn’t respond to messages on Booking.com, the staff was exceptionally helpful, especially with my mom, who uses a wheelchair. Although few staff members spoke English, they always did their best to assist. It would be great to see them adopt more sustainable practices, offer more local products, support employees in learning English, and improve early check-in options—especially for elderly guests, families, and those traveling from afar. A special compliment for the person on the picture, which I can’t write his name in Chinese.

Great location - always love the area. Service needs to be better. The man at the front reception who helped me book taxis had an attitude (I'm from the US and speak both Shanghainese and Mandarin, but my Mandarin isn't as fluent because it's not my main language. While I was speaking to him in Mandarin, he had an attitude - what Shanghai locals would call “ma meng”, was impatient and was just overall not very pleasant to deal with. A hotel of this caliber should not be like this, especially considering how it should be used to dealing with travelers and I believe it used to be managed by the Japanese and the Japanese are renowned for their service. I feel like I probably would’ve gotten better attitude from him if I just spoke English). The second guy that helped me cancel the booking the next day was very nice, though. Second, I went upstairs to the Teppanyaki restaurant and ordered something a la carte as I already had something for dinner prior. And my god, was the price outrageous and the portion shamefully small. I took a picture of the unprepared fish of the day from maybe 3 feet away and my mom asked me why I was having sushi in Shanghai since I also was just in Japan....that goes to show just how small that piece of fish is. Service was great, but the food was extremely disappointing and almost insulting. I felt stupid after eating there. AC didn't seem to work as the temperature couldn't really be adjusted (stayed mostly around 21.5 celsius even though I tried to increase it). Facilities are outdated, but it's part of the charm. Visible furniture seem to be in good condition. However, mattress is quite old and worn/torn.

The hotel is new, clean, and strategically located right beside the Nanjing Pedestrian Walking Street — very convenient for food, shopping, and sightseeing. It’s also just about a 5-minute walk to the nearest metro station. The breakfast buffet was excellent, with a good variety that catered well to my three children. A big bravo to the front desk team for their friendly and helpful service. Special thanks to Ella, who went the extra mile to help me set up Alipay and WeChat, and even assisted meticulously in recovering a parcel I missed from Taobao. I stayed here from 3rd June till 21st June. One of the best location you can ask for. This property is located at the very center of all the hustle bustle of Shanghai Downtown. I couldn't have asked for a better location than this. The rooms were big and the view was simply "wow". The food was also good . And my stay was made all the more special by the courteous staff of Holiday Inn. Here I would like to give a special shout out to Mr. MD Sameer Khan, who was very friendly and did make an effort to make me get a little taste of my homeland in China. And it was not just me, I could see that he treated every guest with warmth and courtesy. I would also like to mention Mr. Hans, who was the concierge. He was very proactive and helpful in resolving all sorts of issues faced by travelers. I am going to recommend this hotel to all of my colleagues and anyone in my family who visit shanghai, to stay at this wonderful property.

I am from USA. Stayed at this Hotel last month in May 2025. I could not believe how beautiful it is. It does not even look like Holiday Inn in USA. This happens to be a 5 star hotel with beautiful decorated rooms and lobby. Service is awesome and location cannot be better. Right in the middle of Nanjing Road. Breakfast is fantastic. Staff is very friendly. Specially concierge Sameer and Hans. They just made our stay wonderful with guidance and helpful tips. Look no further. 👍

I was torn between this hotel and Crowne Plaza on Nanjing Road, and I’m so glad I picked this one. It’s just a 5-minute walk to the Nanjing Road pedestrian street (you can even view the shopping street from your room!), super convenient but just distant enough to be away from the noise. The hotel itself is modern, clean, and well-maintained. I used a confirmable suite upgrade voucher from the hotel membership program’s milestone rewards and was originally booked into a suite with a small living area (more like a junior suite). But as a Platinum member, the hotel generously upgraded me upon arrival to a One-Bedroom Suite with a separate living room. It was a lovely surprise and made my birthday trip feel extra special. Check-in was smooth thanks to Ash at the front desk was friendly and efficient. I also appreciated the welcome fruit platter and complimentary drinks in the room. Housekeeping was top-notch, and the little touches around the hotel like the kids’ play area, gym, and free self-service laundromat really added to the experience. Free laundry is always a nice thing to have while traveling! There’s also a late-night restaurant just next door which came in handy. All in all, I’d happily stay here again. Great rooms, great staff, great location.

Stayed here twice in May 2026 for a total of 15 nights. Stayed in the suite room of 1 bed and 1 living room. Housekeeping was excellent. Room service while we ordered rarely was prompt and efficient. Breakfast is good. One suggestion to management is that as the hotel has a good number of guests from India it would be helpful if they keep a dish or two of Indian vegetarian cuisine in the breakfast. A very special shout out to Md. Sameer Khan who is the restaurant manager but goes out of way to assist you and make you comfortable with other requirements at the hotel. Thank you to Chef Alex for preparing our vegetarian breakfast boxes as we had a very early check out and flight to catch and could not have the breakfast buffet. Also a big thank you to Ms Eva Le, General Manager who is ever smiling and charming. She recognised me from my last trip in February 2025 which was my first stay at this hotel.

It’s such a nice peaceful hotel. The check in and check out are fast and hassle free. The staff is also very helpful. There’s some restaurants and bars closeby. The only issue I have is the rooms being a bit outdated, but they are clean so it’s fine.

The staff are courteous and the breakfast offers a variety of Western and local foods, including continental dishes, fruits, dim sum, or noodles. It is a 10-minute walk from Jiao University Metro and SJTU, making it easy to access tourist attractions. If you are a fan of old cinema, this theme runs throughout the hotel, and you will see references to it around you.

The hotel is conveniently located on a street with shops and restaurants, and the city center is just a short ride away. However, the rooms were outdated and poorly maintained, with inadequate noise isolation that made it difficult to sleep. The bathroom was old and had a low ceiling, which added to the discomfort. Wheelchair Accessible: The hotel is accessible and suitable for guests with mobility needs. Cons: 1. Limited Indian Breakfast Options: More variety for Indian cuisine at breakfast would be appreciated. 2. Distance from Pudong International Airport: Located about 40–50 km from the airport, the travel time can be around 1 to 1.5 hours depending on traffic.

My one-month stay at Crowne Plaza Shanghai was generally positive. The cleaning staff was exceptionally friendly, and the amenities, including the gym and swimming pool, were very good. The breakfast options were diverse, but the menu remained the same every day. Just a heads up, not everyone at the front desk is fluent in English. Overall, this place is cool, but could use a bit of a modern touch-up.

Location not clear in map, driver can’t find it only the shopping mall. Up on arrival, I have seen someone see my taxi and went inside. I thought he went to ask someone to help with luggge, no, he literally ignore because when I went in, he waiting for me inside. Reception didn’t give me any instruction how to get into room. I saw a lift, went in, only to 3rd F, I went up without anyone saying anything to me expecting someone on 3rd floor to lead me. No one is there, I came down again to ask for help. All these process, I have 2 suitcase and 1bag, no one helps me. This is already not a good statrt!!! Very disappointing!!

I had a wonderful stay at IFC Residence in Shanghai. The staff are very kind and helpful. They always greet you with a smile and are ready to help. The room is very clean and has no smell at all. The cleaners do a great job and are also very friendly. There is free coffee in the lobby, which is a nice touch. The sauna, pool, and gym are all well maintained and very relaxing to use. Everything feels new and well cared for. Overall, it was a fantastic stay. I will be happy to come back again. Thank you to the staff.

The room is nice, cleaned, modern, organized. And the location is excellent. The apartment is in IFC mall which has all the brands. The metro station is near as well so it was easy to move and travel. Staff are very helpful and they know English. Few things only to be improved. 1. Breakfast is not nice and specially for Arab, it would be better to add some intercontinental foods like beans, hash brown...etc. 2. The service of the houspeeking very good but not wow or excellent. It would be better to improve and be more specified while tidying up the bed and cleaning. Overall experience, gratefull and enjoyed. I will be back to stay in same apartment and wish to continue same level of service and even better.

My second time staying here. The room is clean and comfortable. Attached to a mall with direct access. Common areas has that luxury vibes. Great gym with a view. I highly recommend.

Great stay, value for money. Room service is done mostly by robot sending up the items you requested. There is a big lobby at level 3 where you have to change lift to get to your room. Hotel is conveniently located and have shelter access to the mall besides. There is also a kids room and indoor swimming pool at the top of the building.

The worst IHG hotel I’ve ever met. Avoid this hotel, if not, you will regret. Staff is not professional. The check in staff took away my identity document without notifying me and my permission. Though the hotel has a smoke-free policy, from the moment I entered the room, I was overwhelmed by a strong smoke odor that permeated the entire space, like entering a KTV room. The lingering scent of cigarette smoke is disgusting. The odor of cigarette still exists even I changed the room. I guess it is come from the ventilation. These unpleasant odors made it extremely difficult to feel comfortable in the room. Beyond the odor issues, the overall condition of the room was highly unsatisfactory. Room is old and deteriorated. The dated, worn furnishings and fixtures gave the impression of a neglected, low-budget hotel rather than IHG hotel brand's standards. Overall, it is not worth the price. The management really have to work hard to improve the conditions.

easily the worst hotel i’ve been to. when we checked into our room the toilet wasn’t working. they then said that they had no more available rooms, but 30 seconds later say they can upgrade us. the second room we got the phone didn’t work. plus, the wifi at this hotel is essentially non existent, you won’t be able to rely on it for anything. on top of that, this hotel makes you pay upon check in even if you already have a card down. the fridge in the room is not cold, it’s barely cool, it stays above 5 degrees celsius…. the bathtub drain takes 20 minutes to drain when taking a regular shower. when we went to the restaurant on the first floor, we ordered the cod and it took 30+ minutes to come out, and was missing half of the ingredients. the menu says it includes glazed almonds and sautéed potatoes, but we got neither of those. when we asked to confirm, they acted confused and didn’t know what to do. the room ac does not work, it’s stuck at 25°C. it won’t cool down no matter what temperature you set it to.

The entrance looks good but that’s about it. The rest looks rather old to me. Rooms need some new furniture and beds. The bathroom could be cleaner or have a makeover. The Fitness equipment was okay but I have seen way better, however the fitness center is not operated by the hotel but can be used. The staff at the reception could speak better English. I was not happy at all. I will not stay there again

Wanted to book at the rooftop bar in advance. Reached out to multiple people via email and zero chance. One guy apparently manager responded " sure no worries " twice and thats about it. For such a brand the customer service is ultra disappointing !!!! As much as I was looking forward to come here, I rather pick a place where I get a proper response and confirmation.

The rooftop bar & restaurant was such a massive disappointment. We had a dinner here and first the server chased me down to ask if I had a reservation. Made a scene about it in front of everybody, very poor customer service and not welcoming at all. I was right behind my party but was the only person that got harassed about a reservation. Unprofessional. Moreover, the food was terrible all across the board. Way too salty, way too spicy, and nothing came at the right time. We had a 3 course meal and it took almost 3 hours total for everybody to receive their respective dishes. I left starving and ready to go to McDonald’s, this place will be shut down within the year please save your money.

Beautiful rooms and superb breakfast. We will choose this property over others in Shanghai. The rooms were spacious and beautifully designed, a tasteful blend of modern Chinese elements and Banyan Tree’s signature resort style. The large bathtub and picture perfect view of the Shanghai Pudong skyline made the stay feel truly luxurious. However, the rooms are starting to show minor signs of age and could use some maintenance. Service, unfortunately, fell short of the warm hospitality we had experienced from Banyan Tree properties in Southeast Asia. While the managers we met were friendly and professional, the rest of the staff seemed disengaged when unsupervised, which left the overall service experience feeling a bit cold. Breakfast was excellent, classic Banyan Tree quality. The spread was extensive, with corners after corners to discover. And it came with complimentary Brut, just like many of their resorts elsewhere. Seating was limited, perhaps because guests tended to linger unintentionally, but Banyan Tree smartly compensates with extended breakfast hours. We actually found the room design and breakfast experience better than another Forbes 5 star hotel we stayed at in Shanghai, which is justifiable for the higher rate. This Banyan Tree property is hitting above its category in the crowded Shanghai hospitality space. Overall a memorable stay!

I just wanted to take a moment to thank you for the service and care throughout my stay. It’s our first time in Shanghai, we’re here to enjoy cherry blossoms and tulips in Shanghai. I am pleased to say that my stay here has been excellent and has surpassed all my experiences. The room was impeccably clean, and all the facilities were in perfect working order. We all had a fabulous fews day vacation. Thank you for the excellent hospitality, staying in Banyan Tree Shanghai on the Bund actually enhanced our vacation experience. Above all else, one of the best experiences I’ve ever had is the luxurious heated toilet seat that keeps you toasty on frigid winter mornings. Booked a suite with a pool. The check-in time was 3pm, but the room was not ready by 5. When I got in, there was a foul smell in the shower and parts of the floor would sink in when stepping on it. Took almost an hour to get a supervisor to talk to. They offered to cancel the reservation and refund it. Never offered an alternative room or other kind of support. Never got a cancellation confirmation and so far no refund for the stay. I then moved to Alila hotel, which only had a room with two twin beds left — but then upgraded me to a suite after hearing about this experience. If they fix the flooring, note also that the room is really warm because of the pool water. There’s also noise from the jets that can’t be turned off (or maybe the switch was broken). The water doesn’t drain, so no foam can be added (1,500 RMB fee if you do). Bring a shower cap if you want to go to the main pool: there isn’t one in the room and you have to buy it from the spa. Also, the toiletry bag is 200 RMB. There’s even a charge for the bottled water.

The service by the staffs is great, you’ll feel very welcome at this hotel. You’ll have the resort feel when you step foot into the establishment. The room is big and spacious. Location is a bit off as you will not get a good view of the pearl tower

room n service is good. when we checked in on friday, the staff reminded us that there's a happy hour 50% off offer during weekend. we tried to order a bottle of champagne costed about ¥700 after discounts. yet it tasted flat n strange. the manager opened another bottle. it's still the same. we checked the date of manufacturing. it's made in 2020. it's obviously expired/not fresh. how can a high standard hotel offer such kind of happy hour "treat" to guests? I have another option instead of trying at hotel's. it's waste of my time. most of all, it affected the overall impression of the hotel because of this issue.

I was most impressed that one morning, I went downstairs to have breakfast, turned on the “make room” sign and the room was cleaned and tidied when I returned in half an hour. The hotel also has a large gym with all the equipment and weights you need for a good workout! For all the foodies, the Chinese restaurant, Shui Tang Li, is a must try if you want to get a taste of Shanghainese food at its best! The restaurant manager was also super knowledgeable and service was fantastic! A truly 5 star experience and and stay!

We loved the Middle House. One of my absolute, all-time favorite hotels. It really had a defining influence on our time in Shanghai. From our first delicious dinner right after we got there, the care of Fiona from customer service,to the modern and beautiful hotel and room design, the clean spa area with nice hot saunas, to, particularly, how friendly and caring the staff was towards our son.

Fantastic service, location, rooms and staff. We were initially welcomed by Mia, who was wonderful, and all other members were great too. We had 3 rooms between us, all were amazing. The pool is wonderful. All facilities were fabulous. Can't wait to go again.

I stay there 2 nights for a business / conference trip in November 2014. Great gym for workout. The pool is not a 50m size but remains ok for a workout.. Breakfast provide a large and well-diversified choice. Quiet place and standard room are OK. Night turns out at a cost of around 110 Euros for a standard single room.

This is one of the worst hotels I've ever stayed in. I thought I'd booked into a nice hotel since it's a sofitel, but the definition of luxury got lost in translation. This hotel is old and reeks of lame attempt at projecting "luxury". It's also more of a family hotel with guests bringing literally their whole family (the grandparents, the children, the ayis). Forget about luxury or romance; this is not the place to go.

It'd be average for a 4 star, definitely not 5 star. Breakfast buffet is adequate for a 4 star and disappointing for a 5 star. It's big and has a conference centre, those are the plus points. It's in the middle of nowhere, it's as far as the airport from the city but in the other direction. I definitely would not choose to stay here.

Decent high-floor rooms with good views and quite central - although feels more for business than tourism. But honestly, it feels quite soulless and I wouldn’t return. Doesn’t feel very well equipped for English-speaking guests which is surprising given what you would expect with the brand. Ultimately, it was perfectly acceptable but not 5 star. Staff are polite with limited English, but very few smiles and certainly no going the extra mile. No replies to reception emails informing them that out flight was delayed. QR codes for ordering room service don’t work, giving 403 errors. Check-in desk staff member was mute when my wife arrived to check-in. But I arrived with the bags and he spoke good English with me. Such a huge difference from checking-in at the Mandarin Oriental in KL the week before. Ordering room service over the phone (QR code didn’t work) in English was extremely difficult. Our first attempt for breakfast I was put through to three different people the first time trying to order but was told the room service menu I was ordering from didn’t exist and I must have the restaurant menu. It was 100% room service but I just don’t think the staff knew the words in English. Someone was apparently going to come to our room to take our order but never arrived. Second time I ordered, I was very clear ordering a meal without an ingredient, which I prefer to avoid for ethical reasons. This was repeated back to me and re-confirmed. And yet it arrived with this ingredient. I called up to highlight this and spoke to the same member of staff who took the order and who remembered me - she was “going to check” but I never heard back. Check-out was also confusing as our room rates were not what we had booked, and taxes were called out on separate lines for some nights and merged into the room rate on other nights. All in, nothing was terrible - but we might as well have stayed in a serviced apartment or high-quality letting. While it is a 5-star building with super views, the experience was no better than a 2 or 3-star hotel.

We stayed one night at the Grand Hyatt Shanghai and, unfortunately, the experience did not meet expectations — particularly at the front desk. During check-in, we were not informed about the required deposit, the staff just swiped my credit card amount with the deposit. When I requested a refund and offered to pay the deposit in cash, the staff denied my request saying that no cash transaction in the hotel (it is illegal to refuse cash by law). Even after fully paying for the night and having the deposit refunded, we were abruptly told that we were not allowed to incur any additional expenses during our stay. The lack of clear communication and abrupt tone left us feeling unwelcome. Another disappointment was the overall attitude of some staff, who appeared to be more courteous and attentive toward guests who looked like business travelers, while those of us dressed casually or appearing as leisure guests received noticeably less respect. It left us with the impression that we were being looked down upon, which was quite disheartening. That said, the room itself was clean, spacious, and comfortable and definitely has a great view. However, the bathroom design — particularly the shower — was poor, with water splashing across the floor during use. In summary, while the room was up to standard, the service experience was not. This hotel seems more geared toward business travelers and may not be the best choice for those seeking a warm, leisure-friendly environment.

⭐ 1/5 – Very Disappointing Stay at Grand Hyatt Shanghai From the moment we arrived, our experience at the Grand Hyatt Shanghai was far below expectations for a world-class hotel. Arrival & Check-in: The porters at the entrance did not speak English, which made communication very difficult. For an international hotel of this reputation, English-speaking staff should be available to assist guests properly. The entrance itself felt dull and lacked the welcoming atmosphere you would expect. Upon taking the elevator to the 54th floor for check-in, we were met with more disappointment — the check-in staff also had limited English and showed little professionalism or courtesy. Room Experience: When we entered our room, we were shocked to find it outdated and poorly maintained. The room had an unpleasant odor, and the bed was extremely uncomfortable. After just one night, my back was sore, which made the rest of the stay even more uncomfortable. Breakfast & Service: Breakfast was equally disappointing. There were not enough staff members to assist guests, and the service felt completely self-serve. If you didn’t already know where to find things, you were on your own. There were only two staff members at the bar serving coffee and tea, and even then, the coffee was made using automatic machines. For a hotel of this caliber, it’s unacceptable not to have a trained barista preparing quality espresso. Overall Impression: The entire stay was a major letdown — from poor communication and outdated rooms to lackluster service and amenities. Unfortunately, I would not recommend the Grand Hyatt Shanghai and consider it a very poor choice for anyone expecting true five-star standard

Hotel location is good. Easy access to taxis and good shopping malls nearby with great food. Nonetheless, service is an area that needs further improvement. Check in was slow, way below my expectations considering it's a five star hotel. During breakfast, staff just cleaned my table even though there was a card stating it's still occupied. There were occasions that I had to remove some of the plates and cutlery myself.

The only positive aspects were the hotel view and convenient transportation. However, everything else fell far below expectations. The service was the worst I've experienced, damaging Hyatt's reputation. Our room had a leak, and all the clothes in the closet were soaked, yet not a single staff member apologized. Although we were moved to a different room, the staff’s poor response left us deeply disappointed. I recommend choosing a newer hotel nearby with a better view.

Location is great but that’s it for a 5 star hotel. The check in is very slow. Multiple rooms have a cigarette smoke smell. We have tried 4 rooms and moved with our luggages multiple times until we found a room without cigarette smell. They will charge you $1,000 deposit, which is the highest I have seen in a hotel, and it has been three weeks so far and they did not release the deposit yet. The staff at the bar for breakfast do not speak english, we struggled to order a green tea. To be honest I wouldn’t pay this amount just for the location.

The view is absolutely stunning! 🌇 There’s a popular photo spot right in front of the hotel — no wonder it’s always crowded 🤭 The room was clean 🛏️, breakfast was decent 🍳, and overall everything was really great! 🌟

This is the second time my wife and I stayed at this hotel in this year. We love this hotel as it is located in the centre of Shanghai and it is so convenient to everywhere. Hotel building and facilities are well maintained and staff are friendly. Niko in the front office is so nice and he helped us to check in quickly. Instead of showing where the lifts are, he guided us to the lifts from front desk. He is so nice. Thank you

This is one of the best hotels for tourists in Shanghai. The location is wonderful, with a lot of shopping malls, restaurants walking path. The nearest metro station is 5 min walk. The metro has English sign everywhere. We took the help of the hotel staff to know the train line no, entry and exit gate no, travelling in metro was very easy. Our room on the 33rd floor had excellent view of the surroundings. The service is excellent, one of best in the world. Very polite and helpful staff everywhere. Breakfast was very nice, great for no-meat eaters. Very happy to stay at Portman Ritz-Carlton, would love to return to this hotel.

I highly recommend this hotel. The location at Nanjing West Road is ideal to start your city trip, the hotel room itself is spacious and clean. For breakfast you can have anything your heart and soul craves… 💖 All the staff are amazing and kind, service is immaculate. Right next to the hotel you can find a lot of different restaurants and a small supermarket that has a lot of imported food and drinks. I would stay there again if I could! 🥰

An incredible stay at a truly historic property, the first Ritz-Carlton in all of Asia! The recent renovations have brought a very chic and modern feel to the rooms. My room had a fantastic view of the city skyline and the Shanghai Conference Centre. The service was impeccable, especially at the Ritz-Carlton Club Lounge. The five daily food presentations were a culinary journey, and the added perks like complimentary pressing and the 2km private limousine service truly set the standard for luxury. Also had a wonderful evening at the Ritz Bar a really great vibe! The location is unbeatable for shopping and exploration, directly connected to a massive mall and a short walk to the Jing'an Temple metro station. The pool is a bit modest for the property's size, but the spacious gym and spa area with sauna and whirlpool are excellent. A minor note: the lobby vibe feels more like a bustling mall than a grand, opulent hotel, but that’s part of its unique, energetic character. A legendary Shanghai experience!

Really quite disappointed with the Ritz here. Rooms are old but decently maintained. Bathroom feels like stepping back into the 90s. Standard and nothing special, feels like a Sheraton inside once logos are removed. Service was lacking. Check in wad robotic, and breakfast was so rushed and packed. Food selection weak. Honestly there are much better options elsewhere. Really wanted to like this grand dame, but it's way past its prime and looks like the owner won't invest on upkeep and upgrades. What a shame

Marriott Hotels are a good bet. The service is great, location is near there office. There's a great Michelin Bid Gourmet restaurant just downstairs. I've been there twice already on the first day. I was upgraded to this executive room I think. There's a bath tub desk single sofa, huge TV and plenty of space in the room.

I expected more from Ritz Carlton , location is good if you fancy visiting the malls with global luxury brand next door and 8 mins walk is Kerry centre shopping mall . The hotel fr outside looks dated, inside I can say I am not impressed . The room’s furnishing looks tired and dated since the 1990s. Overall room is clean . What is driving this three star rating is really the chaotic breakfast set up . Too many tables are packed together , the selection is really not the Ritz Carlton I have seen . The breakfast selection looks like what any four star hotel in China would Provide and these four star sometimes outdo themselves .

We had a wonderful stay at for our anniversary! From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel incredibly welcome. They went above and beyond to make our celebration special, including some thoughtful amenities in the room that truly made our day after a late night delayed flight. The room was clean, comfortable, and beautifully arranged. The service throughout our stay was professional. Breakfast was fresh and delicious. Our stay at the Regent Hotel Pudong was truly unforgettable — and that’s mostly thanks to Max! He helped us with everything we needed during our stay on October 24th, from carrying our luggage to guiding us through anything we asked about. For tourists like us, it can be really hard to find your way around because almost everything is written in Chinese, but Max made everything so much easier. He was always kind, patient, and ready to help — nothing was ever too much for him. Because of Max alone, I would honestly book this hotel 100 times over. He gives the kind of service that goes far beyond what you normally expect, and that’s exactly what makes this hotel stand out from the rest. In the middle of all this, I also want to mention Rhea, who I believe is the concierge. She was incredibly sweet and helpful too, always making sure we had everything we needed. Together, Max and Rhea made us feel truly cared for. The view from our room was absolutely breathtaking — one of the best I’ve ever seen. And the hotel manager deserves a special mention too — such an attentive, caring person who clearly values both his staff and guests. It’s rare to see that level of kindness from management, and it makes a big difference. I’ve stayed at many hotels around the world, but this one stands out. The people here don’t just do their jobs — they genuinely care. Thanks to Max (and the amazing team around him), this was a five-star experience from start to finish.

I recently stayed at the hotel and found the location and room quality to be excellent. However, my experience was significantly undermined by a series of service failures that I feel are unacceptable for a hotel of this caliber and price point. The issues were consistent across multiple departments: · Regent Club: Upon arrival for happy hour, I was not attended to. When I finally placed an order, the staff member did not understand English and my drink never arrived. I was also never offered a menu. · Business Center: Staff were unable to assist me due to a language barrier. · Camelia Restaurant: Despite the restaurant being empty and fully staffed, it took 20 minutes to receive a drink. · In-Room Dining: An order for ice cream required multiple calls due to a misunderstanding and arrived completely melted. I brought these concerns to the Duty Manager, Robin, who explained that staff only speak "very basic English." While I do not expect universal fluency, I believe an international luxury hotel should have at least one proficient English speaker available in each key department (room service, club lounge, restaurants) to ensure a minimum standard of service for international guests. Unfortunately, due to these persistent issues, I cannot recommend this hotel for travelers who expect service commensurate with the price.

We stayed at the Regent Shanghai Pudong and really enjoyed it. The hotel is clean and modern, located in the business district - away from the crowds but still close to everything. There are beautiful walks and views right outside, and the famous Lujiazui Riverside Park is just a 10-minute walk away. Our room on the 37th floor was comfortable with a great view. The hotel has both a spa pool and a regular pool; however, it’s mandatory to wear a swimming cap, which we didn’t have and had to buy. It seems to be a common rule in 5-star hotels across China - which is annoying. Breakfast was decent, though coffee options were limited. They only make cappuccino that somehow required four staff members to operate the coffee machine. The buffet itself is small but pleasant for a few days. We also appreciated the complimentary afternoon snacks. The views from the restaurant are stunning - a beautiful urban skyline.

Beautiful hotel conveniently located on Metro line 2 (between Lujiazui and Pudong South Road stations, easily walkable from both), it's close to the Pearl Tower and the Shanghai Aquarium. We were upgraded to a suite with my plat status and the room on the 31st floor had gorgeous views, a smart Toto toilet, and an amazingly comfortable bed. They had a rollaway crib for my 19-months old baby (it's a Graco pack and play). However, what prompted me to write this review was the outstanding service of everyone I interacted with. I forgot my baby's stuffed kitty (it rolled under the bed and I didn't notice until we were on the plane back to the US!) and I immediately contacted the hotel who responded quickly the housekeeping team has already found the toy and was keeping it safely in storage. What followed was many back and forth emails to figure out how to get the toy back to the US and I always received clear and quick communications with the managerial team (Evelyn Li, Taya Zhang, and Daniel Su). I cannot thank them enough for everything and I will surely return in the future and wholeheartedly recommend the hotel to others!!

This hotel!!!! Worth every penny. The staff are very helpful. The facilities and location are amazing. Literally in-front of the 3 iconic buildings and the pearl tower. The staff in club lounge are very kind. Can’t wait to go back in Shanghai, will definitely stay here again

Hotel is about half way from the downtown to the convention centre. I like walking so that suited me fine to walk 30min to the convention centre. It’s pleasant walk through a big park. The downtown is a bit further and mainly walking on major roads so interesting but not as pleasant. All in all I’d say the hotel is a bit dated and needs a refurb. It’s also what I’d call more Chinese in feel. If you’ve ever want all you’d expect in a western 5 star then I’d suggest staying in downtown proper. The breakfast is fine with a lot of western and Chinese and Indian options. I have no complaints - it was clean and did it job.

1-Star Review: Cheap, Stingy – Avoid This Hotel! I’ve stayed in different hotels all over the world, from budget chains to five-star luxury resorts, and I’ve never encountered a place as ridiculously stingy as this one. As a Gold Member of this hotel, I expected at least basic courtesy—but no. This hotel charges ¥10 PER PAGE for printing! Even Holiday Inn offer free printing, but apparently, this place is so cheap they’ll nickel-and-dime guests over a few sheets of paper. When I politely asked the concierge to waive the fee (like every other decent hotel does), they refused. I demanded to speak to the manager but I was told the manager was too busy to deal with a simple request. I was told to wait for him for 15 mins and he would come to explain why they always charge for printing. I was unwell and said I didn’t have time to wait and I’d just write a review. They said fine. It’s not just about the money; it’s the principle. If they’re this petty over printing, imagine how they’ll cut corners elsewhere. I hate to say it, but this hotel embodies the worst kind of penny-pinching. They’d rather squeeze every last cent out of guests than provide even the smallest courtesy. Pathetic. I hate to say it, but the ‘cheap Shanghainese’ stereotype? This hotel is doing its best to prove it right. Charging guests ¥10 per page for printing—when even roadside hostels offer it for free—is next-level stinginess. I’ve stayed in budget dumps with more class. At this point, it’s not a stereotype; it’s a business model. Save yourself the frustration—stay anywhere else.

Nice hotel, I was here for Exibition 6 nights before Covid and I must admit that staff was amazing. As my flight was landed at night , i cam and was so hungry (around 2 AM) . They organized meal for me ! I can say only best things ! I will look always for this option for exibition in the future !

This is an older Marriott property which has been decently maintained but still it’s showing its age. The lobby is huge but very cold and lots of strange space utilization. The reception staff was friendly and professional. No upgrade or recognition of being a platinum elite member. The rooms are very small and the carpets are quite dirty. The normal amenities apply, with bath robes and toiletries. The location is fine, but it depends on what you intend to do. To go to the Bund, for instance, can take a long time by car. Overall a good hotel, but a renovation while keeping the flair would be in order.

It is a 4 star product hotel with at best 2 star service. BEWARE… The front desk duty manager called Victor was the rudest i have ever met. Have complained but no one bother to help. Also most of the hotel staff didn’t bother to smile nor greet. Also served “vegetable curry” with chicken meat in breakfast buffet. Food spread was good though. Room was clean and cozy but the mattress was hard, not your typical Marriott chain bed product. So overall, be warned and stay other place if possible.

Very good location. Near century park and close to subway. Hotel was convenient to the pundong airport being about 20ukp max in a local taxi. Floor 6 has a good sized gym and good swimming pool with saunas and hot tub all included in the stay. Just take a swimming hat or you will have to buy one. Staff with good English and concierge service good for getting taxis etc.

I visited this hotel for it‘s unique architecture in an old mine. It was definitely interesting to see this, but I was disappointed to see it being quite badly maitained. It looks impressive from far but once you come closer all the details show deteriation which is quite sad. Service was also horrible and definitely not up to Intercontinental standards. A simple request of having a coffee on the balcony in front of the lobby overwhelmed staff. They first sent us to the restaurant where they wouldn‘t let us bring coffee to the lobby. Then we asked the lady at the coffee counter in the lobby but she said she could not make coffee because the machine was off - a simple Nespresso machine. Clearly they are not interested in customer service.

Was very eager to visit this hotel for its architectural features and breakthroughs. However, was sorely disappointed by its poor maintenance. The rooms and corridors smell dank. The corridors were poorly lit and furnitures were scratched and not well maintained. It definitely does not reflect the standard of an intercontinental hotel. The international management should look into how to improve the maintenance so it won’t let down the amazing effort of the architectural team and all those who poured their heart into making this feat of engineering. I would even say it’s a disgrace to the hotel chain. We paid extra for lounge access. The selection was limited, and half of it were barely edible. The bread was stale, the chips were soggy… the cups in the room were so old. I can’t believe we paid all this money for this.

I think I set my expectations too high as I’ve been wanting to check this hotel out for years. The hotel is amazing don’t get me wrong, it is an architectural masterpiece but the mildew in the halls and my room left me feeling ill. I had a wonderful ‘butler’ assigned to me which I have no fault with but other staff members where unhelpful (rather than bothering my butler or waiting half an hour for the slow lifts to take me down 13 floors I asked the lobby assistant i could get a drink and was told to go get it myself!) My room was nice but a little run down (as were the hallways - chipped doors, dirty carpets, dirty windows, rumpled tape on my bathroom floor). And the final kicker to my stay was the review they force you into doing on check out, giving you a gift and then standing over you while you give them 5 stars. I find this dishonest and annoying. When I refused both I was asked not to write a review at all of it wasn’t 5*. So now I wonder what the hotels real reviews would be if they are not guilting people into writing them. If I’d been able to sleep and didn’t feel sick from the environment I’d be less harsh but I thought other people with respiratory issues should be warned.

Our stay at the hotel was nice and pleasant. The staff members were all very friendly especially Bruce, he was very helpful and has great customer service (also 5 stars for Bruce). Overall a great experience!

The resulting “groundscraper” features such amenities as an underwater restaurant and aquarium, all set within a form which seeks to minimize its impact on the local environment. Very close to Shanghai Tianma Golf and Country Club, Shanghai Chenshan Botanical Gardens, Tianmashan Hill, and much more. Children 0-12 year(s) stay for free. The hotel staffs are very friendly, the breakfast food variety are satisfying, definitely we will come back again.

Very nice hotel with everything expected from a high star intercontinental, breakfasts are good and has a wide selection of Asian and European foods. 30 min walk to main shopping street and 8 mins walk to metro.

Overall, it was an amazing stay. First, the staff at check-in, in the ClubLounge, at breakfast, and in the gym were all very helpful and friendly. Second, the room was spacious, modern, and very comfortable. Third, the Club Lounge has a nice array of foods and drinks with very attentive staff. Four, the gym was quite large with a range of both strength and cardio equipment. Lastly, it was nicely located with many shops and restaurants nearby.

Rooms sizes are big. Specially if you get rooms like 1021,1121.... Breakfast have lot of options, so vegetarian can also have generous food in their morning. Shanghai railway station just 10 min walking away.

Beautiful hotel with very nice and helpful staff, and the food was good. First time in Shanghai and glad I chose this hotel as it’s very close to everything you might need. It’s just a bit frustrating when you deal with a staff doesn’t speak English,

Swissotel Grand Shanghai is a 4 star hotel in the Jing An District of Shanghai. It has all the services and amenities of a high end hotel. Since it is in West Pudong, it is 50 km away from the Pudong International Airport. It is close to the Jing’an Temple (0.6 km) and a park by the same name. It is also quite close to People’s Square ( 3.7 km or 1 stop using the Metro). Several shopping plaza are also on the next block, so are convenience stores if you need something quick.

The hotel is located behind jingan temple and it is 3mins walk to the nearest metro. The room is comfortable and breakfast is good the only thing is the trainee staff in the breakfast area is not attentive. The trainee is not well train. When I ask for a new set up he just put the table mat on the table without the utensiles, the supervisor should pay more attention to the trainee. As for the check in. I had one trainee which is well train. She knows exactly what to do and very efficient. Overall stay is pleasant. Executive lounge is also well set up and managed.

The hotel is in a good location, the rooms are fine if a little outdated. The mattress isn’t great, very firm and not comfortable. The biggest let down is the breakfast, lots of choice but non of it great, just not good quality food. The setting is dingy and badly lit, felt 3 star at best.

Good location, terrible rooms and service. Dirty buffet, sticky nasty floor each day and I got an upset stomach from the food. Dirty hallways. Odd bathroom that doesn't full close from bedroom. Staff is not friendly at all. I only book five star hotels and was extremely surprised by this place. 2 stars at best. They didn't even greet properly or speak English at check in. Concierge test was very weird and unfriendly. This is a far cry from the Smith hotel Grand Namba in Osaka which is extremely good and true 5 star place where we stayed last year. Brand seems inconsistent and the manager needs to be retrained here. There's also wallpaper bubbling off the wall in the hallway on the 10th floor near our room - it's really gross! Too much funky weird overwhelming perfume smell in the lobby also. I could go on but I won't.

Overall a fantastic stay. Arrived in the morning, they let us check in early, 10am. Tasty breakfast, room was a great size for a family. This hotel is situated a short walk from the metro, a good experience to live like a "local". Plenty of amazing eateries to try in the area. Value for money, will be back in a month, thank you Doubletree Hilton Pudong!!

I stayed one night at the DoubleTree by Hilton Pudong and, despite receiving an upgrade as a Diamond Member, the overall experience was extremely disappointing. The first and most concerning issue is cleanliness — the hotel is shockingly dirty. My room smelled strongly of smoke and dust, the carpet was in terrible condition, and there were even hairs and stains visible in multiple areas. The bedsheets had holes, which is simply unacceptable for any hotel, let alone one that claims to be five stars. The breakfast was mediocre at best, comparable to what you would expect in a 2- or 3-star property, with poor food quality and limited choices. Some of the staff members couldn’t even communicate in English, which makes things unnecessarily difficult for international guests. What disappointed me the most, though, was the complete lack of follow-up or care — no one even asked how my stay was upon checkout. Overall, this property feels tired, poorly maintained, and far below Hilton standards. Cleanliness and service must be seriously improved before it can be considered a true DoubleTree.

The rooms are a complete letdown and are not the same as their photos but it’s a beautiful building with good location. The photos shown online are nothing like what you actually get. I booked a modern room with a city-view bathroom, but was given a 20-year-old room that smelled of stale smoke and looked nothing like the pictures. When I raised it with reception, the lady was dismissive and untruthful, saying “only one new room per floor” and that nothing could be done and that “the photos are not real”. The next day, they called me and moved me to the West Wing, which finally matched what I had booked — modern and comfortable. Side note: the building itself is impressive and well located, but the deception and attitude at the front desk ruined the experience. Future guests should insist on a West Wing room before booking.

My stay at the DoubleTree Pudong was nothing short of excellent. The hotel is beautifully designed—modern, luxurious, and very comfortable. The rooms are spacious, clean, and well-equipped with everything you’d expect from a top-tier hotel. Staff were friendly and attentive, and the warm cookie at check-in was a nice touch! The location is convenient for exploring Pudong, and the views from the higher floors are impressive. Whether you’re visiting for business or leisure, this hotel delivers both comfort and style. Highly recommended.

Stayed here for two nights and had a generally pleasant experience. The room was clean, comfortable, and well-maintained. However, the lack of a dedicated shower stall meant showering in the bathtub, which felt a bit unsafe and could be improved for guest comfort. I was impressed by Shanghai’s initiative to reduce single-use amenities—an eco-conscious effort that’s commendable. That said, basic items like toothbrushes and daily toiletries are still available upon request, which strikes a good balance between sustainability and guest convenience. Breakfast was satisfactory with a decent variety to start the day right. Overall, a comfortable stay with room for a few practical improvements.

Breakfast room is really too small . When you come like 9 am , normal breakfast time . You wait at the door at least 30 minutes . For a big hotel like this , it is really not enough . You feel like you are not going to breakfast , like you are going to museum

Great location, with some amazing views. The room was well maintained and clean. However, the service was a bit uneven. The roomed that I had booked was not available, so I was just shuffled to another room. I had booked an executive room, with complimentary breakfast. They somehow forgot that part and charged me for breakfast. After clarifying the situation and they double checking with reception I was promptly refunded. The only real negative aspect of this hotel is the breakfast area. It's inadequate for the size of this property. Hotel guests were lining to enter and it didn't let up when I came down for a second time.

Being in Shanghai with a reserved hotel that doesn't really fit into the comfortable category could be a challenge but luckily I found this one and made the change. The personnel was nice and accommodating with all our requests. We got a spacious room at high level so we did enjoy a little the view, but it was not oriented to the best part which is the iconic skyline. Keep that in mind when you make your request for a room with a view. You can also pay for the buffet and enjoy a good variety of lunch options at a fair price.

Nice and elegant. Rooms are comfortable, spacious and clean. Breakfast if extremely rich with all kind of food, from traditional Chinese to occodental. My only complaint is about the hotel sharing the building with some local shop and a street food place that during the evening creates a bad smell in the lobby and a crowd of people in a queue. I think for a five star hotel you would expect a more exclusive place, not shared with other regular businesses

There were some initial hiccups to our room, but the hotel staff managed to assist us and helped salvaged the situation. The hotel is just a minute walk from the popular Nanjing Road Pedestrian Street (back of hotel) We were pleasantly surprised by the level of professionalism, from the front desk, Level 2 Lounge and the house-keeping crew. In particular, both Nora and Keeria from the L2 Lounge gave us good advices for localised travels and served us passionately. Starry from the front desk was also very understanding in accommodating to our needs. Thank you for giving us positive experiences during our week-long stay. *the various interfaces in the toilet can be much better during the design phase.

Absolutely delightful. I would like to commend Sunny Yang for her warmth and professionalism - thus, elevating our check-in process to be among the best I’ve had for years. She is indeed a true gem of an ambassador. In terms of location, Crowne Plaza is extremely strategic - with its “back” entrance opening into Nanjing Street and having the “People’s Square” metro within 5 min walk (more like 10 mins with the pedestrian lights). One tip to avoid the pedestrian lights is just to take the underpass directly from Nanjjng Street instead of the “front” entrance. The Club lounge on 2nd floor was frankly just mediocre. Evening cocktail hour had free flow (self served) red/white wines and the food was rather uninspiring. Nevertheless, I didn’t expect to have dinner in the lounge anyway and had a great time getting the fruits, desserts and selection of beverages (to order). In this regard, the Club Managers were extremely hospitable and made my wife and I feel comfortable in this little oasis after a full day of sightseeing. As for the rooms, others have already mentioned how the difference between “Premium” (read renovated) rooms are compared to the standard selection. Bonus tip #2 is to always book the Premium rooms. Our room came with breakfast which had a rather good of authentic Chinese and Western mix, and my wife and I loved the soy milk with fried dough (Yu Tiao) In all, I truly enjoyed my trip. Every return to the hotel after a sweaty (34 degrees on 11 Oct) day out was truly enjoyable thanks to Sunny, the Club Managers and not to forget the friendly doormen. God bless!

I usually stay in Intercontinental hotels in Shanghai, so perhaps I have a bias. But comparatively, I was not impressed with this hotel. It was obviously very old and not up to date. The room was spacious, but not comfortable. The bed was not comfortable, the shower door did not close properly, so that the water leaked out onto the floor. The staff were not friendly or helpful (especially during breakfast). The only benefit was the proximity to Nanjing Road and the view of the Bund from the room. I would not stay there again. Thankfully I was there only one night and then could check into the Intercontinental Shanghai Jing'an, which is an amazing hotel.

Your hotel doesn’t have any bellboys to assist with luggage at all. My mother is elderly and doesn’t have the strength in her arms. Last month, I stayed at Crowne Plaza Beijing and the staff helped carry our bags during both check-in and check-out. On top of that, when we were leaving, there were steps at the front entrance of your hotel. Several staff members were standing right there, yet none of them offered to help. That was extremely disappointing. I stayed in a Junior Suite and requested an extra bed, but the bed was terrible. My mother could feel the hard springs through the mattress the entire night, and her back hurt badly. The pillows were also extremely hard — instead of being filled with down or foam, they felt like they were filled with tiny grains of sand, which caused neck pain. In addition, the restroom in the lobby smelled awful and there was no toilet paper available. The bathroom in our room was also quite old and had visible dirt and stains along the corners. The only thing I appreciated was that there was no cigarette smell in the room or in the elevators. Overall, your hotel is nowhere near the standard of the Beijing branch. I will not stay at the Shanghai branch again in the future.

Poor customer service! I booked reward nights here via IHG which were supposed for my son. There is a guideline that if you book a room for someone else you need to register that person 7 days in advance. Reached out via email to the hotel which first was the wrong CP but they forwarded my mail to the right CP which was 10 days ahead of arrival. Finally the CP Nanjing Road did not answer until it was 6 days in advance to arrival telling me that now it’s too late to register tze 2nd guest. Also after speaking with the Diamond Elite hotline no effort to find a solution nor any discount offered from the hotel for a standard booking which by then would have been necessary. I totally understand that rules are rules. However being punished for slow feedback from the hotel and also not seeing ANY effort to find a solution doesn’t give me a feeling of being appreciated. Poor treatment of loyal IHG customer Diamond members! Cannot recommend.

Visited in late August when the weather was very warm. The hotel is tucked away in a quiet corner off Nanjing Road West, so it feels calm while still being pretty convenient. Taikoo Hui mall and the West Nanjing Road subway station are just a 5–10 minute walk, and you can reach the start of East Nanjing Road’s walking street in about 15–20 minutes. There’s even a 7-11 right outside plus a few small local restaurants. The room we had (for two adults) was a decent size and came with a kitchenette, dining table, and a separate bedroom area that you could close off with a sliding door — nice for a bit of privacy. That said, the décor felt a little dated, and the AC could only be set down to 24°C, which wasn’t ideal given the summer heat. Overall, this was my first time back in Shanghai in over a decade, and while I personally think there are livelier areas to stay in, I was still pretty happy (good value) with our stay here.

Honestly it’s pretty nice, theres a 7-11 right outside but it’s not open 24 hours and closes after 10pm, the gym is really great it’s the best gym I’ve ever trained at in a hotel. Their breakfast is OK, eggs and seasonal fruits and types of breads and other stuff your typical breakfast although didn’t really see gluten-free options if it matters to you, it wasn’t a problem for us and theres also free soft drinks in the fridge and 1 beer in the fridge which I don’t think is ideal considering someone might be travelling with teens or kids? Idk, the room was spacious and the shower was amazing and theres a spa too but you’d have to reserve it beforehand, the location is really good it was easy for us to walk to almost everything but if you’re not used to walking don’t pick this location.

Very good location. Central to many places. Very convenient to buy Taobao and dianping as it’ll be placed in the lobby or delivered to your room. Only problem was that the baby cot was TOO low and very difficult to put baby in to sleep. Service by Lily and Simon was prompt and helpful. Provided great help during my stay with my family. Service was overall very pleasant and room keeping very prompt. Will recommend this place for families and all to stay.

Stayed for 4 nights and overall had a decent experience. Things started off on a great note with a smooth pre-arrival email and a nice upgrade, thanks to Titanium membership – always a nice touch. Upon arrival, staff were helpful in assisting with my luggage and getting everything up to the room. Housekeeping was on point for the first two days – room was tidy and well kept. But for the last two nights, it seemed like the rubbish wasn’t cleared, probably overlooked (granted, I did order a bit too much waimai…). One thing I did notice – while arrival service was great, there was a bit of a gap during departure. I had four pieces of luggage and brought them down myself during check-out, but no one offered help to the Didi (Zhuan Che) I had booked. The hotel itself is a bit dated and could definitely benefit from some refurbishment. That said, attentive service can often make up for older hardware, and there’s still room for improvement on that front. A bit more attention to detail and going the extra mile would really elevate the experience.

Room is spacious with sufficient amenities. There was a dining space, living space and also a work space in the bed room. Toilet was spacious, with a separate wardrobe that’s walk in. The cleanliness was 4/5 - as i could see stains on the toilet and bathroom which was bit icky. Bed was comfortable. Location was amazing, 5 mins drive to the central areas and landmarks. Doesn’t feel like a five star hotel. The check in counter is kiosk machine with staff assistance, which feels like a motel. No lobby sitting area with couches, guests have to stand or walk around when waiting for services or taxis. Room is ok, I love the hardwood floor and bathroom, but other than that, everything is very standard. Location is great, close to metro and shopping/restaurant.

It’s located in one of the best core downtown Shanghai Puxi areas. Not the newest hotels but well maintained. Loved their “Happy hour” services with great selections of drinks and snacks! Worths the prices!

Here's the honest but harsh truth. This place is basically a trap for those looking to use their amex credit. It's like $230 USD a night. But the value of the comparable hotels is probably $125-140. So you can use your credit sure, but it's extremely overpriced for that reason. The breakfast is also absurdly priced. It's $40 USD for a spread of breakfast foods that would cost $2-4 on the streets of Shanghai. It doesn't make sense. The hotel is nice. It's clean. It's extremely western. The gym is decent. Basically everyone here is a foreigner using their amex credit or on a business trip. Its just not worth the money. Also our non smoking room smelled like smoke. We moved to a different one and it was fine though.

Fantastic location right at the heart of Xintiandi, French Concession in Shanghai. Walking distance to all attractions in the areas e.g. restaurants and shopping center. It was first built in 2011 so pretty old but well maintained. All room equipment are modern and user friendly. Staffs are friendly, polite, and efficient. The only improvement I think is at lobby and restaurant/ bar area to work on the old damp smell. The rooms are perfect. We love staying here.

The non-smoking room was filled with a strong smell of cigarette smoke — it seemed the odor had already seeped into the furnishings. Hotel staff were openly arguing and shouting in the lobby, and shockingly, no manager came out to stop them.

Location is probably the most convenient and closest to the airport. Regular shuttle services back and forth, no complaints. However, one of the most annoying things about this hotel was it adapts the local way of doing things - ppl cutting in line..and it’s a norm here. Room service was not great at all. The waitress who delivered food was rude and carried no smile on her face. No thank you no greeting no door holding…as if she had problem hearing and expressing. Terrible!

I had a wonderful stay at the Ramada Plaza Shanghai Pudong Airport. The location is perfect for a layover, with the convenience of being so close to the airport yet still offering a comfortable and welcoming atmosphere. The rooms are clean, spacious, and quiet—ideal for a good rest before or after a long flight. A special mention goes to Crystal at reception. She made my experience even better with her warm and genuine hospitality. She is so easy to talk to, incredibly kind, and truly sweet—she went above and beyond to make me feel welcome and cared for. Exceptional service like hers really makes all the difference. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone traveling through Shanghai. I’ll definitely stay here again.

Honestly, the worst hotel that I could ever stay in. The staff is extremely rude as if they own this place. They are not at all helpful with anything and have a very laid-back and bad attitude towards the customers. I requested them for a little help in translation, but they were extremely rude and did not cater to my request and just told me to go back to my room. The room doesn’t even have room service, and the staff has the audacity to always say no to any request without even listening to any.

This is an embarrassment of a hotel. It can do so much better but the staff just don’t care. Rooms are dirty and there is minimal sound proofing. Stay here only if you arrive really late or have an extremely early flight. Otherwise just head into town, lots of options

Far from centre, taxi fees is around 110RMB . Room has smoking smell and they changed for us. Free shuttle bus to airport each 30mins.

This was a wonderful luxurious hotel with great service and tons of amenities. The hotel.was very stylish with upscale decor. There are several great restaurants on site, a spa, a fitness centee and a retail section. The rooms were spacious, comfortable, and clean. The location is perfect! Walkable to many different parks, retail, restaurants, and attractions. I highly recommend this hotel! Definitely one of the best!

During a recent situation where my daugther accidentally left her bag in a taxi, George immediately stepped in to help. With remarkable efficiency, he searched the video footage and reported the issue to the police, contacted the taxi company, and coordinated the search process. Thanks to his determination and proactive approach, the bag was found and returned to us in less than two hours—a feat that seemed impossible at the time. This hotel poses as a 5 star hotel however offer none of the amenities and services 5 star hotels come with. There is no maid service, no heating, the tiles in the bathroom are cracked, the rooms are old and musty and smelly, there is no heat, and the concierge (if anyone answers at all) is unwilling to help out. COMPLETELY RIDICULOUS! I am extremely upset with the booking and am looking to get a refund as I cannot stay here any longer for the duration of my stay in shanghai. highly highly DO NOT recommend staying here.

I liked this hotel a lot. I will definitely stay here if I travel Shanghai again. The staff were very nice and the room was clean. What I loved the most about this hotel is the location. Pretty close to most of the points of interest in Shanghai.

I got an upgrade to a corner room. It was clean and has a large window opening. I would stay here again next time I come to visit.

Much closer to a 2 or 3 star hotel. The entire thing is outdated, the elegant style might work if the quality of everything was better. The room felt very dirty upon arrival. The chairs have so many scuffs and dirt marks and the walls are chipping away. The beds are extremely firm but not really in a good way. The tv is old and most channels don’t even work. The service is slow and very awkward. The food offered is extremely restricting in terms of time, the best dishes on the menu can only be ordered for a total of four hours in a day. One upside is that the water pressure is really good I suppose.

Both my husband and I had a wonderful stay at this hotel. The staff (I would like to mention some names here,( Isaac , Joe, Frank ) are very polite, helpful, friendly and attentive. The buffet spread was pretty impressive and good. Housekeeping was well done too. To get taxi was fairly easy especially the bellboys (Isaac and Joe) just waited willingly in the cold winds for them for us and other guests. We greatly appreciate the dedication from them. Thanks Hotel Equatorial Shanghai for making our stay pleasantly warming in China. I would recommend this hotel to friends and families anytime. Well done!! Keep up the very good hospitality of yours. Hated this hotel because of the location, actually pretty far from any walking streets or restaurants and every single taxi driver gets lost coming here. Impossible to get a cab. It’s very secluded Check in extremely slow. Bad service. Food in buffer was poor quality. No couches at all in the lobby while you’re waiting for a taxi. Should be two stars

The staff were very helpful during my stay. They called a taxi for me when my ride to the airport didn't show. The food was good, both Chinese and western was available. The lounge was a comfortable place to relax with my colleagues before turning in for the night. There were lots of sights to stroll around and see in the area and the subway was nearby.

Comfortable rooms with full amenities. Only stayed 2 nights. Shower can be tricky to use! Pull the ring down on the hose under the faucet to turn shower on. They almost need a sign. Easy access to temple metro station. Restaurants within walking distance. Super serious security and parking enforcement outside of hotel.

Wake up with a huge dead cockroach on the door side... Not nice experience. Front desk staff were nice and speaks good English, whereas the concierge are unwilling to help if you ask for a taxi. Difficult to get taxi in the morning as it is on a main road that is usually congested and thus unlikely to have empty taxi (need to wait for somebody to come to the hotel...). Room service food is so-so... Tried and then preferred to buy my breakfast next day at the Starbucks instead. Only good thing is that they have a convenient store nearby. Surely not goung back.

Very nice establishment. Friendly service. Quite furnished fitness room and beaufitul and cosy pool. The room was simple and clean. Not very luxurious anyhow. Absolutely good location to move around in Shanghai. The price was probably higher because of the dragon boat festival holidays.

Is the hotel guest (girl) friendly? That means can i invite my guest (girl) to my room and no need to pay extra?

Beautiful proper located in the heart of JingAn district. Great service and excellent location with easy connection to most stuff. Good bang for your buck

Excellent boutique hotel in a charming district, close to the Metro and the Jing'An Temple. Rooms are a decent size, with comfortable beds and stylish decor. The room setup was a bit odd, with the bed in the middle on a raised platform, and the sitting area and bathroom down a couple of steps, so it's not the best for people who are at risk for falls. Our room came with complimentary breakfast, which was really good. There's a small buffet of pastries, fruit, and salad, and you can order other dishes from the menu -- I had the congee and the breakfast muffin, both terrific. Good coffee, too! We'd definitely stay here again.

If this place had told me they were going to refinish the entire kitchen and dining room while I was staying there, I wouldn’t have rented two rooms (including the “penthouse”) and had a business meeting there. They should’ve closed the hotel while they were stripping the surface of the counter and completely upending the entire first floor of the hotel. Workers wore face masks, the smell was horrific, and there was no food service (okay, they said they’d make me a cheese sandwich...give me a break; they were supposed to have a wine and appetizer hour!). And then they insultingly say that this is something normal they do every year, and I’m unreasonable to complain. One stays at a hotel to enjoy oneself, not to smell solvent. If you don’t want to experience their complete disregard for their guests, DO NOT STAY HERE.

We had a wonderful time at this hotel, it is a beautiful hotel and staff are mostly wonderful. We were especially grateful that we were able to check in early as we arrived early in Shanghai and were very tired. The concierge and receptionist was very kind and spoke good English. The issue that really dampened our stay was that we had to wait a good 30-45 minutes for our breakfast to arrive after ordering it. The staff in the restaurant area - one in particular, ignored us, but the other who spoke good English was lovely. Fresh juice ran out at 930 am, so we were very disappointed. The food at the buffet were mostly gone by the time we got in at 930 and was not replenished so this didnt leave a good impression with us. I would stay here again however I would urge management to do something about the poor kitchen service and lack of responsiveness. I wouldnt call it a 4 let alone 5 star hotel because of the restaurant.

Fancy hotel where the rooms don't age well (stains on the wall and sofa). Bed sheets smelling cigarette (probably from the laundry company) and noisy conferences when the restaurant is privatised. Features vs. price not very good. Breakfast and staff are ok though.

Great hotel, great deal! Perfect location and super helpful friendly staff. Rooms are great and clean and will most definitely be staying here again! Lobby is great for getting some work done and the food is good too.
