The Bund is a historic 1,500-meter-long waterfront promenade in Shanghai, featuring a mix of modern and colonial buildings. The area has undergone gentrification, attracting luxury brands like MCM, Cartier, Prada, and Ralph Lauren to set up shop in former colonial banking and trading headquarters along the Huangpu River.
The Bund is a powerful visual lesson in economic progression, Shanghai has arrived at. I truly appreciate the sheer scale of ambition here. The colonial architecture on this side—a reminder of old foreign concession—provides a stunning contrast to Pudong’s futuristic Lujiazui skyline, a true symbol of modern Chinese might. It’s like watching 100 years of progress condensed across a single river. The current lifestyle is dazzling; a cosmopolitan buzz that rivals the Lion City, packed with high-end luxury and dining. Despite the crowds, the waterfront promenade is truly magnificent at night. A must-see spectacle.
David L — Google review
A promenade along the Huangpu River with iconic views of Shanghai's skyscrapers and the Pearl Tower. Just steps away from Shanghai's bustling streets, dotted with historic European-style buildings, including the postal museum. There are plenty of vantage points to choose from, and plenty of street photographers are ready to help you snap photos. There aren't many good places to eat here, most of the places are overhyped and overpriced with terrible taste. There is one place to eat that we tried and it is cheap, some of the menu quite good and the taste is better than some of the expensive places there. We're lucky enough because they are open until late at night.

The Bund, Shanghai 🌆💙 Such a beautiful place to enjoy both day and night! At night, the view is just magical — the city lights sparkle across the river, and you can see the Oriental Pearl Tower glowing in different colors. 💫 It feels so peaceful to walk along the riverside, with the cool breeze and the sound of the water. 🌸 The whole view is so romantic and dreamy — definitely one of my favorite spots in Shanghai. 💖
Aon A — Google review
Shanghai without The Bund (外滩) is like dim sum without dumplings—just not complete. It’s Shanghai’s not-so-secret runway, where East meets West, history flirts with modernity, and selfie sticks reign supreme. By day, it’s business as usual—lined with tour buses, hustling city folk, and the occasional confused traveler chasing after their hop-on hop-off ride. But when the clock tower strikes seven, The skyline lights up like Cinderella transformed into her glowy gown. On one side, you’ve got a row of grand old dames—colonial-era banks and hotels standing tall since the 1920s, whispering stories of “Old Shanghai glamour.” On the other, the futuristic squad: Oriental Pearl Tower (the OG Insta star), Shanghai Tower (tall enough to poke the clouds), and Jin Mao Tower (always dressed sharp). *Tip*: prepare for crowd-sardine mode. The railing? Fully booked. Influencers practicing their angles, “paparazzi” snapping away, and you sandwiched in the middle like a star nobody paid for. Joke me not—it’s chaos, but it’s glorious chaos. 🚇 Hop off Line 2 at Nanjing East Road, then follow the human river (they’re all heading Bund-wards). 📸 Day strolls are chill, night lights are magical—but guard your spot like front row at a Taylor Swift concert. 🥂 Feeling fancy? Head up to The Roosevelt (罗思维)—rooftop dining with views so good your cocktail tastes twice as expensive (and worth every sip). Perfect for escaping the sardine railings while still lapping up that postcard skyline.

The Bund (外滩) is truly the heart and soul of Shanghai. Walking along the riverfront feels like stepping into a living postcard, where the majestic colonial-era buildings meet the breathtaking modern skyline of Pudong. The view, especially at night when the city lights reflec t on the Huangpu River, is simply unforgettable. It’s the perfect place for a stroll, photography, or just soaking in the vibrant atmosphere of Shanghai. The mix of history and modernity makes The Bund a must-visit destination for anyone coming to the city. A visit here is always magical and leaves you with lasting memories.
Michael K — Google review
A postcard can't capture the energy here. We came for the iconic skyline but fell in love with the atmosphere. Strolling as the sun set and the city lights ignited was pure magic. The perfect blend of historic grandeur and futuristic wonder. An absolute must do.
Mohamed K — Google review
The Bund (also known as the Waitan) is a famous waterfront and protected historical district in central Shanghai, China, known for its unique blend of historic colonial architecture and modern skyline views across the Huangpu River. The Bund features 52 buildings along a 1.5-kilometer (0.9 mile) stretch of Zhongshan Road that showcase a range of architectural styles from the 19th and early 20th centuries, including Gothic, Baroque, Neoclassical, Romanesque, and Art Deco. The historic buildings on the west bank of the Huangpu River offer a striking contrast to the modern, futuristic skyscrapers of the Lujiazui financial district on the east bank, embodying Shanghai's rapid transformation. The area is a popular destination for both tourists and locals, bustling with activity day and night. The buildings and the Pudong skyline are dramatically illuminated in the evening, providing spectacular photo opportunities. A walk along the riverside promenade is the best way to appreciate the architecture and the dynamic cityscape on both sides of the river.

Amazing skyline with the old Shanghai bund & new shanghai skyscrapers across the bund. Super crowded with tourist & photographers offering photo taking services. Place is very safe with policemen station everywhere.

Shanghai the Bund W Hotels is a pet-friendly option in Shanghai, China that provides facilities for dogs and cats including scratch poles, treats, and litter trays. Some properties allow pets to stay for free. The hotel features indoor and outdoor pools with a deck offering stunning views of the Shanghai skyline. Guests can enjoy sunbeds, snacks, and a poolside bar during warmer months. Additionally, visitors can savor an exceptional breakfast with fresh juices and greens served outdoors overlooking the Bund.
What can I say… the "W" in W Hotel definitely stands for "WOW"! Everything was flawless from the moment I arrived. The staff at the lobby, reception, breakfast area, and gym were all incredibly professional, welcoming, and attentive to every detail. The breakfast was extensive and high-quality, offering both international and local options—something for every palate, served in a stylish and relaxing atmosphere. The gym is well-equipped with everything you need for a complete workout. Both cold and room-temperature water are available, and even the towels can be provided chilled—a luxurious touch. I had originally booked a Fabulous room with a view of the Pearl Tower, but upon check-in I was upgraded to the hotel’s top suite, featuring a jacuzzi with a breathtaking view of the Bund. Simply stunning. The curtains open automatically with the touch of a button, revealing an incredible panorama right from the bed—straight out of a movie. A truly perfect stay in every way. Highly recommended for anyone looking for luxury, comfort, and top-tier service in Shanghai. I’ll definitely be back!

Incredible experience at the W Shanghai. As a Marriott Titanium member, you can trust me when I say this hotel takes service to the next level. We were in town for a special occasion, a friend’s bachelor weekend and were upgraded to a fantastic suite. Absolutely insane room. Huge thanks to the team who made it happen. The breakfast was out of this world. A special shoutout to Max for the outstanding service and for sharing so many insights into Chinese cuisine and life in Shanghai. Every single W team member made us feel truly welcome. While I’m not used to executive lounge benefits at W Hotels, this property offers a fantastic evening experience from 6 to 8 pm, with high-quality bites and drinks. It felt like a full à la carte menu with premium options. The spa and especially the gym were another highlight. The gym is one of the best I’ve seen in a hotel and offers everything you could possibly need. If you are visiting Shanghai, I highly recommend staying at the W. Thank you also to Timmy and the concierge team for their great support throughout our stay. This was truly a “wow” experience. Thank you for making my first visit to China so special. Stays like this are the reason I remain loyal to Marriott. Other hotels in the group should look to W Shanghai as a role model.

This is a truly remarkable hotel and well worth recommending. The property is beautifully designed with a luxurious atmosphere, and the service staff are attentive, professional, and always eager to help. The guest rooms are well-equipped and well-maintained, making the stay very comfortable. The location is unbeatable, right next to the Baiyulan Plaza, with direct access to the office towers, Metro Line 12 downstairs, and a two-level food court offering plenty of dining options. From the room, you can enjoy stunning views of the Huangpu River, the dong fang Ming zhu Tower, and Shanghai Tower, especially breathtaking at night. Dining is another highlight. The in-room service exceeded expectations, with dishes such as the beef burger and roasted chicken rivaling fine dining standards in the U.S. The breakfast buffet is equally impressive, offering a wide variety of both Western and Asian selections. Even the barista’s latte art adds a refined touch to the morning experience. The only drawbacks are that the air conditioning is not strong enough, the room temperature could not be set lower than 24°C, which felt a bit too warm to me, and the water pressure in the shower is noticeably weak, which detracts from the overall comfort. Overall, this hotel excels in nearly every aspect—hardware, location, service, and food. If both the air conditioning system and water pressure were improved, it would be nothing short of perfect.

I am having an absolutely exceptional stay at W Hotel. The service here is truly on another level. The team went above and beyond in every way – from helping me accept multiple deliveries and promptly sending them up to my room, to anticipating my needs before I even had to make a request. Their attention to detail and genuine care made my stay not only convenient but also incredibly memorable. It’s rare to experience such thoughtful and proactive service, and the staff at W Hotel exceeded all expectations. They made everything feel effortless, and I genuinely felt well taken care of throughout my stay. Highly recommend this hotel for anyone looking for not just luxury, but also truly outstanding hospitality. *thanks too for arranging the welcome dessert and balloons for my sister’s grad!

It’s rare for me to leave a review for any Bonvoy hotels but I must say this was such an amazing experience that I can’t walk away without acknowledging the fantastic hospitality provided by the W team in Shanghai. The check in process was super smooth and the staff was cordial in providing me with a complimentary upgrade to a higher floor and a nicer view of the Bund. I wasn’t sure what to expect but the moment I walked to my room, my jaws dropped. What an absolutely stunning view. The fitness area was incredible, some of the most advanced exercise machines. I also enjoyed swimming in the outdoor pool and used the sauna spa facility. They take great care of the environment. Since there’s no executive lounge, they offer happy hour drinks which is between 6pm to 8pm, offering cocktails and various drinks at no charge to the Bonvoy members with Elite status. Breakfast selections were vast and delicious, covering from Western, European to authentic Chinese food. The entire team from the staff in the downstairs lobby by the front door to the folks working across different departments (Gym/Pool, bar, restaurant) they all showed great level of enthusiasm in providing the highest quality of service. Most specifically, I’d like to acknowledge Claire for all her help and support, from recommending the best bars and restaurants to addressing any particular questions or concerns the guest may have. The management is very lucky to have her on their team. I can’t wait to return to Shanghai again as I’m even more excited about my next stay at this amazing hotel.

We had an amazing stay at W Shanghai on the Bund! From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel truly welcome with their warm hospitality and attention to detail. The room was spacious, stylish, and offered stunning views of the Shanghai skyline — exactly what you’d expect from a W property. Service throughout our stay was impeccable — every request was handled promptly and with a smile. The breakfast spread was exceptional, with a wide variety of international and local options, all beautifully presented. The location right on the Bund is unbeatable, perfect for exploring both the historic and modern sides of Shanghai. The pool and spa facilities were also top-notch, making it easy to unwind after a busy day. Overall, W Shanghai exceeded expectations in every way — luxurious, energetic, and service-oriented. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a memorable stay in the city!

I would like to say the trip usually doesn't go wrong when you stay in a W hotel. Decided to stay 2 nights here and would say was impressed by quite a lot of things big and small. Arrived early in the morning which was not time for check in at 9am. Got to know they have upgraded me and the room wasn't available yet, but they provided me with a temporary room for me to rest and do some work before the room was ready, and informed me they would let me know when the room was ready. Spent some time in the room resting and out for lunch. After lunch room was ready and got transferred to another room which had a great view of the Bund. Went out exploring some of the facilities in the hotel, the gym, pools, sauna and bars. In the late afternoon the staff came and brought some complimentary snacks as well. The staff here are all very well mannered and informative. Had experience with a few and it was pleasant. There's a popcorn machine near the check in counter where there would be stuff making popcorn and handling out to guests. Impressed with the facilities, but the best of all is always their breakfast. One thing to note is W breakfast is always fabulous and never disappoint. It's so good it makes you want to go rounds. It's not exactly by the Bund but near it and next to hotel is a mall with a metro station so location is good and its accessible. Some of the places are reachable by bus and there are a few bus stops which are within 5 minutes walking distance from the hotel. Awesome and highly recommended.

One of the best Hotels I've ever stayed in. The breakfast and view are shockingly amazing. Staff is super nice too and the rooms are really cool. However, the internet was absolutely horrible. Unusuable, please increase your bandwith and wifi policies - 90% of the time the internet just wouldn't give you any kilobytes whatsoever.

Perched on the 38th floor, guests can indulge in an exquisite afternoon tea experience while soaking in breathtaking views of People's Square and the city's skyline. The Lobby Lounge serves delightful seasonal pastries crafted by Chef Chen alongside a selection of traditional teas and Taittinger Champagne.
Rooms, location, views, breakfast and service were all on point. Breakfast spread was surprisingly good - the green juices were fresh and health and contained no additives - so good start to the day. Ran into Daniel (the GM) twice in two days in the hotel who was friendly, polite and hardworking. Indoor and outdoor pools were great too.
G L — Google review
First time staying here, always liked staying in JW but this one has given me quite a bit of mixed feelings. Before that in the app, I couldn't even know my original room type or there was any upgrades the room type just disappeared just with the booking. Location is not bad actually right near Renmin Square station. It's probably less than 5 minutes walk from the station exit 11. However at night, they close the exit after 930pm and same for exit 10 so you have to walk further by getting out from exit 9. Don't know what nonsense is that. From the ground floor you take the lift to 38th floor reception for check in, then I got upgraded and took another lift up to the 59th floor. What I didn't like staying so high, the lift waiting times are long. I guess that's why there are seats by the lift. Got to the room. It was pretty big but it felt very dated. Old, dark and wooden was my impression. There was no rain shower and there were these 2 massage nozzles which were pretty useless. Visited the lounge during afternoon supposed to have finger food but only like scone and madeleine available. Went back again in the evening and there was more selection. Interesting library on the 60th floor, also the highest library in the world. Worth taking a short visit only accessible via from the stairs in the lounge. Had a look at the amenities. Visited the gym and saw the saunas and jacuzzi. Then wanted to visit the pools which was a long and complicated walk to the next building and taking a lift. Saw the outdoor and indoor pools. Had the breakfast on the 38th floor and was quite disappointed with the food. Didn't find the selection good, some of the items I took were not even warm. Disappointed by the scrambled eggs. The first bite I took and there was egg shells. When I sat down the staff asked me if I wanted any drink and I said green tea and they also totally forgot about it. Service needs improvement especially at the breakfast area. Normal but not exceptional stay with Marriott JW, that is not usually the case.

Room - dated and small for a price tag of 300++sgd. Service - staffs are professional and attentive. Location - good. Breakfast- good breakfast and lotbof variety.
See F — Google review
There are not many good things I can say about this hotel. Even for a Marriott they are way over priced for everything. The pricing is completely out of hand in this hotel to the point where they should be ashamed of themselves. They charged me $11 for a extra small size coffee. Honestly shameful. I am attaching a photo of the coffee. The room rate is $280 per night and the rooms look worn down and just not worth anywhere near that type of money. Being a Titanium guest I would expect better.
Sjoed T — Google review
The price is slightly less than other excellent hotels in shanghai but the quality of facilities feels much less ... the lobby is based on 38th floor which makes waiting for taxis a bit awkward. Breakfast is very chinese oriented. ... it is hard to buy any food in the hotel after 9 pm. The aircon noise in my room was too much. Positives Location is great. The view from the windoes are superb. Most staff know english well.

Great stay. Nice property. Lots of elite recognition. Understaffed during a holiday week in the lounge and in the buffet restaurant. Concierge not particularly helpful. Great location.
Jay F — Google review
I enjoyed my recent six-night stay in August 2025 at the JW Marriott Shanghai at Tomorrow Square Hotel. The friendly, abundant staff smiled at me, said hello, and made me feel welcome. The restaurant staff at the JW Grill, where I ate one night, was especially friendly and accommodating, and the food was very good, too. Also, I had dinner at the Chinese restaurant on-site. The 59th floor club lounge with its spectacular views out over the tall buildings of Shanghai, had amazingly good food, such as Kung Pao chicken, and excellent service. I had great food, too, every morning for breakfast at the buffet on the 38th floor. I felt good in my large room and comfortable bed and felt quite satisfied with the daily, timely housekeeping service to my room. I swam every day in the beautiful, outdoor swimming pool and went into the hot tub on the 6th floor.
Larry D — Google review
I have stayed in this hotel multiple times. The rooms are on high floors with superb view of Shanghai, especially the night views are wonderful. But the rooms are dated. The staffs are not fantastic but they do what they do best. The breakfast restaurant is small when compared with other Marriott’s hotels. The food are not excellent too with limited choices.

They have almost all luxurious & branded shops, 1 supermarket with top-notch entrances and a grand lobby. Easy access using metro stops at Xujiahui station. They have a nice cinema. Nice! The price? By looking at the bulding design, you will know who will be coming here and how the spend looks like. Do come during nighttime as you will see a very nice night view. Cons : No muslim halal restaurant

OG luxury shopping mall, received a major facelift few years ago. Again I am doing food only review here. Much like any other large shopping centers in the city, food court is located on the higher floor (I believe it’s either 4th or 5th). I stopped by a recently opened sandwich shop and decided to go with a carbless option.

Nestled in the heart of Shanghai's bustling financial district, the Grand Kempinski Hotel Shanghai is a haven of luxury and sophistication. This exquisite hotel boasts chic rooms and suites that are designed with modern elegance, featuring marble-tiled bathrooms for an indulgent experience. Guests can savor a delightful array of multicultural cuisines at its on-site restaurants, which offer flavors from Spanish to Mediterranean and Italian.
We stayed 9 nights at this hotel and everything was perfect . Good location, near the touristic places.Restaurants at the beside of river are great and you can do sport side of river. We had two skyline rooms and great views over the city.rooms are spotlessly clean and service was perfect.all staffs are kind and care the guests. Breakfast including Chinese and other national foods. Thanks and I advise to others to stay at this hotel.

Awesome Hotel with real 5 star experience. Has a good restaurant (Elements) offering good Chinese and Western cuisine. Located very close to the Oriental Pearl TV tower, and the Bund area. Staying here for the last 10days and the Kempinski hotel is providing the best possible services. Staff here are very friendly..
Seshnath C — Google review
Solid 5-star value hotel. Although rooms are a bit dated, the space is really huge and I would highly recommend paying a bit extra or upgrading to the rooms with river view. The 24-hour gym is situated on the top floor and has nice views of the Oriental Pearl Tower. Didn't try the indoor pool out as it wasn't made clear that you'd need a swimming cap. This can be bought on the spot if needed. Breakfast for me is the star of the show for the hotel as they have an extensive buffet spread where you'll be spoilt for choice, plus a generous operating hours. The Chinese restaurant on the first floor is also highly recommended! Went twice and both times it was very quiet and the food was really delicious. The staff was very attentive as well.

This is a really fine hotel with great views of The Bund and only a quick metro ride away from the heart of Shanghai. I recieved amazingly attentive service from all the hotel staff. If your room includes lounge access then you are in for a real treat and it's not something they make a big deal of on their website. However, there is an a la carte breakfast (buffet downstairs gets pretty busy so having somewhere else to go is great), lunch (again a la carte. I recommend the quessadillas if you need a break) and late afternoon includes a great buffet, hot and cold foods plus alcohol options (see pictures). With such great views from my room, I actually found it difficult to leave the hotel.

Sure! 😊 I can help you write great reviews — but to make them sound realistic and useful, please tell me a few details first: 1. 🌆 Which city or hotel in China do you want to write about? (e.g., Beijing Hotel, Shanghai Marriott, etc.) 2. 🏨 Are these positive reviews, mixed, or negative ones? 3. 💬 How many reviews do you want — and should they be short (2–3 lines) or long (1–2 paragraphs)? 4. 🎯 Who are they for — your own travel blog, a website like TripAdvisor, or an assignment? Once you share that, I’ll write natural, professional hotel reviews for you.

Our six-night stay at the Grand Kempinski Hotel Shanghai was absolutely amazing. From the fantastic service to the comfy rooms and stunning views, it really made our trip special. The concierge team was brilliant. Every morning, we would check in with them for advice on what to do for the day, and they were so helpful in organising transport for us. They made everything so easy and stress-free, which made exploring the city even more enjoyable. Our room was super spacious, with these huge floor-to-ceiling windows that looked out over the Bund, the Huangpu River, and the Oriental Pearl Tower. The view was incredible, and the room itself had this great mix of modern style and cosy comfort. It was the perfect spot to relax after a day of sightseeing. We started every morning with breakfast at the Elements Restaurant, and the food was fantastic. There was a great mix of Western and Asian dishes on offer, so there was something for everyone. It was a really nice way to kick off the day. We had booked an executive room, which gave us access to the Executive Club Lounge on the 28th floor. This spot was a total bonus – we enjoyed afternoon teas, evening cocktails, and a quiet place to chill or get a bit of work done. Plus, the views from up there were just breathtaking. The staff were really great too. We had a small issue during our stay, but it was sorted out super quickly by the hotel management. It was clear they really care about making sure their guests are happy. The hotel also has some shops on-site, which came in handy for picking up a few nice souvenirs without having to go far. Overall, the service at the hotel was friendly and super attentive – it really made a difference. One thing I’d say could be improved was the interaction with the “Ladies in Red,” who are sort of like the hotel ambassadors. They were always around and very professional, but their style felt a bit formal. It would have been nice if they’d felt a bit more approachable and personal. All up, the Grand Kempinski Hotel Shanghai was such a great place to stay. The service, the amazing room, and the location made it a trip to remember. I’d definitely recommend it to anyone heading to Shanghai and looking for a bit of luxury.

Stayed at Kempinski already several times before. I want to send a special thanks to Lady in Red Eva and concierge Sky and Kaikai. They did an outstanding job to help me getting my suitcase "repaired" at Rimowa shop while I had to attend a business meeting. You really made my day. Wheneber I'll be again in Shanghai, there is no other option than staying at Grand Kempinski again. Everything is just perfect.

The New World Shanghai Hotel is a luxurious property situated in the Puxi district of Shanghai. The hotel features a range of amenities, including a restaurant and bar, as well as a rooftop pool, spa and gym. The rooms are comfortable and stylish, and the pricing is very reasonable for what you receive. Highly recommended!
Had great stay at this hotel. Customer service was excellent. Modern, room very clean. I enjoyed my stay here. Be aware of the the context outside the hotel and in the hotel bar. There are working girls trying to befriend you. If I were the hotel I'd clamp down on this on their own premises. It lowers the professionalism of the place. Any dodgy characters can walk outside of the hotel if that is their bias. Would I stay there again....absolutely
Mick M — Google review
Excellent hotel in central location! Walking in it feels very ritzy and grand. The lobby is clean, spacious and next to a lounge/bar area. The staff were super friendly and efficient at check in. The checkout process was very fast too. The only snag was when I was leaving and trying to get my luggage. There was a big group checking in and no staff available at the concierge desk. Thankfully I wasn't in too much a rush and got my luggage eventually. Room was spacious and well-stocked with amenities including 2 bottles of water (cheaper kind were free, there was also Evian for like $7). The sound proofing was perfect. I didn't hear any noise from outside or neighbors. The hotel is right next to one of the exits from Zhongshan Park subway (I forgot the number but it's after a walk down an underground mall). Just go right and then right again after exiting the subway.
Nancy T — Google review
Excellent hotel and Great buffet dinner very inexpensive includes alcohol all you can drink. Comfortable beds upscale rooms much better pricing then foreign hotel brands. I highly recommend this hotel very close to the subway station Excellent cozy bar for a relaxing drink. Even a beautiful Chinese lady for conversation and entertainment.
David W — Google review
The room was really nice and clean and the staff was very friendly. The location was good as it's right on Line 2 and next to the subway and across the street is a pretty busy park. Even though the subway entrance is next door, it's still a bit of a walk in the underground path to get to the subway. It's a pretty good place to stay for the price.
Mei C — Google review
Nice and clean hotel. Great staff. Many eateries around and a huge park next door. Stayed in 2804 and it has a great view overlooking the park. Gym and pool looks nice but didn't get to use it due to the weather. If I go back to Shanghai, I would definitely stay there again.
Heui J — Google review
A really nice hotel. Rooms are spacious and light. Breakfast is lacking somewhat if you want to mix your own muesli. Apart from that there is not much to complain about. A plus is the close location to a subway station.
Peter N — Google review
Solid 4 stars. Good breakfast buffet. Good facilities. Good value. Still some rough edges though: 1) wait staff too eager to clear plates from table, 2) housekeeping knocking on the door at 9:30PM to turndown the bed, 3) requested for no smoking room but ended up on a floor that is heavy with stench of cigarette smoke, 4) not great noise proofing between the rooms, and 5) nice gym facility but is too dark. Location is good. With exception of peak hours, it is quite easy to get a taxi. Drawback is because of the layout of the driveway, you would have to walk down to the street side to hail a cab. This sucks if it is raining...
K L — Google review
Excellent location. Connected to Zhongshan Park metro station for Line 2. Good restaurants within walking distance. A Lawsons 24hrs next door. McDonald's too. Rooms are not big but comfortable. Service is excellent and fast. English speaking concierge and staff. Prices are fair with all common amenities. No regrets at all.

Hyatt on the Bund Hotel in Shanghai offers contemporary accommodation with stylish decor and a luxurious spa. The hotel features two Asian restaurants, a Western eatery, and an inviting tea room serving Chinese-inspired afternoon tea with a selection of dim sum bites. On weekends, guests can enjoy unlimited Shanghainese home-style noodles at the live noodle station. The hotel's buffet-style offerings include appetizers and desserts, while seven cooking stations serve cheese, seafood, and meat dishes with tableside service.
We had a great stay at this hotel. It is located in the North Bund area, close enough to the main Bund attractions, but far from the overwhelming crowds. Best of all, it offers a breathtaking view of the Shanghai skyline. If possible, request a room in the left tower for the best views of the Oriental Pearl Tower. The rooms were spacious, clean, and well-maintained. Service and staff met expectations throughout our stay. We also made use of the gym, which was large and well-equipped with a wide variety of machines. An added bonus was the indoor heated pool, which made for a relaxing experience. There could be some improvements in the lobby. During our stay, the hotel hosted several conferences, so the area was constantly busy and crowded. Seating in the lobby was especially limited, with literally only six chairs, which felt quite insufficient given the number of guests. Breakfast was another highlight. It featured an impressive spread with a wide range of international cuisines and many seating to accommodate many guests. Overall, it was a very enjoyable stay and we would gladly return.

This is a truest beautiful and luxurious hotel in a quaint and nice part of town. Plenty of amenities and walking distance to all the attractions on bund. Rooms are very nice and modern. My complaint is the service. We tried to check in at 11 AM and was told our room is not ready and to come back at 1 and it should be ready. We can me back at 2 to give them some extra time to have it ready and was told our actual room is not ready yet but we could get a lower floor room. Also sinks were clogged and kept filling up. I don’t think the service is up to par for a 5 star hotel.
Rana — Google review
Great location, clean and safe. Just a quick 5 min walk into the main tourist area on The Bund. Arguably the best view in the city on the roof top bar. The staff was great as well, i can't remember the skinny girls name who works at the bar up top but she provided great service.
Sean — Google review
This is not a 5 star hotel. Our room had coffee stains from previous guests and a ball of black hair on the carpet all week. The toilet clogged, as it did for others on our trip. Concierge often didn’t answer calls, and when we raised a taxi scam in real time, they showed no concern. The breakfast buffet had long lines, dirty tables, and frequently ran out of juice, jams, and cereal. This is a 3.5-star hotel at best. Location was good, and we appreciated the 3pm late checkout, but we won’t be back.
Rebecca — Google review
Disappointing visit, booked ahead nothing prepared, slow and week service in check in area, 2 sets of towels in 3 bed room. Payed more than booked up front. There are much better hotels in the area. Best was view and roof top bar
Drummond J — Google review
The night view from the hotel window is beautiful, but the service is poor. I arrived at the hotel at 4 PM, but I still couldn't check in because they were cleaning the room. Starting from the second day, my key card stopped working. I had to wait a long time to get a replacement key. The staff's service is slow and unfriendly.
SEJIN K — Google review
Checked in on Chinese valentine day, super peak I guess, waited like 4 hours, only managed to get the room around 4pm, not a very pleasant experience, especially told off by the one of the reception staff, in a bit of frustrated tone, saying “ya, this is happening everyday, nothing we can do about it”, not a typical 5 stars hotel way of handling. Apart from that, hotel room view and breakfast is 5 stars. Choosing an off peak season to stay should be fine.
Ivory L — Google review
Terrible attitude. Get a 3 person room and still need to pay for a 3rd bed for a child. A 3 person room comes with 2 person bed 🤷🏼‍♂️ View is nice, rooms are big, but that's it. Nothing memorable. Hallway smells like smoke. Oh and it has the saddest indoor pool I've ever seen.

InterContinental Shanghai Puxi is a luxurious hotel located in the heart of Shanghai. It features an impressive array of facilities, including 2 bars, 5 restaurants and 3 grand ballrooms. The spa at the hotel is also highly rated and offers private treatment rooms, a steam room and sauna. The standard room at the hotel is still sizeable, with comfortable beds. There's also a large rain shower, making it perfect for a weekend getaway.
Google map is not accurate. The hotel is actually at the garage position. I had an impressive stay despite the staff sent me to a room without a window on first night. I had to ask for an exchange which they assigned me to the normal room with the main street view. The hallway carpet smells a bit but the room is clean and well maintained. The location is ok if you take taxi. You have to walk ~5-10 minutes to metro/bus stop. There are delicious restaurants nearby. Staff don't speak English but their attitude was the best in class. They helped me with wifi issue and international plug (cus mine was broken) I will return again!

Overall, it was an amazing stay. First, the staff at check-in, in the ClubLounge, at breakfast, and in the gym were all very helpful and friendly. Second, the room was spacious, modern, and very comfortable. Third, the Club Lounge has a nice array of foods and drinks with very attentive staff. Four, the gym was quite large with a range of both strength and cardio equipment. Lastly, it was nicely located with many shops and restaurants nearby.

May be some English on the coffee machines. good location, near by shopping mall and Metro station of Line 2 within 5 min of walking.

It's located near the Century Avenue Station which connects several metro lines so it's convenient for tourists to get around. The king-sized bed is very comfy. I personally love the breakfast there. Delicious and a variety to chose from. In some rooms you can even see the Shanghai Tower.
Rachel M — Google review
I really don’t understand how this hotel gets such high ratings. Pool area: Very disappointing. To reach the pool, guests are directed through a small “kitchen” area where fruits and vegetables are being prepared — extremely unprofessional. Right next to the pool, there’s another corner where staff were grilling and cooking, filling the area with smoke and bad smells. The pool itself looked neglected: the edges were dirty, clearly not cleaned for a long time, and the small foot bath before entering the water had trash inside, including plastic and masks. This gave a very unhygienic and unpleasant impression, nothing like the photos advertised- photos attached. Gym & Spa: The gym is tiny and it was mainly used by outside groups for pilates and fitness classes, so it didn’t feel like it was really for hotel guests. Our reservation said “sauna included,” but in reality, using the sauna costs extra. Laundry: Very misleading. They advertise laundry room, but there are no machines for guests. It’s only a pay-per-piece laundry service, with an additional 50% surcharge per item — something I’ve never seen before. Breakfast: Food quality was just average, more like a 3-star hotel, nothing close to 5-star standards. What shocked me most was the service and atmosphere: staff were not welcoming at all, and I witnessed very rude behavior. One morning, a guest had her toast taken away by another customer right in front of everyone, and instead of helping, the staff laughed at her along with the other guest. That’s unacceptable anywhere, but especially in a hotel claiming to be “luxury.” Overall, the hotel felt dated, and the service was far from professional. Definitely not the 5-star experience it claims to be — I would not recommend staying here.

Nestled within the upscale Pudong residential complex, Shimao Riviera Garden boasts a spacious outdoor pool area surrounded by seven towers of luxury serviced apartments. The pool area features a large aquamarine pool with a wave machine, a faux-beach, deckchair area, and a bar for the adults. Situated near the Huangpu River in Shanghai Pudong, this expansive living compound offers apartments of varying sizes and ample space.
Great apartment complex that we at HAO Realty never feel worried to show to our international clients. Spacious and bright apartments paired with onsite facilities that cover almost every need of an expat family, from playgrounds, over gym and swimming pools, to business facilities. A very safe choice, especially for newly arriving expats, as we basically never hear complaints.
Rufus Z — Google review
The Shimao Riviera Garden (Shimao Binjiang) is a huge living compound around West Weifang Road in Shanghai Pudong, close to the Huangpu River. There are 7 buildings with approx. 55-65 floors and appartments of different sizes, but generally quite spacious. The compound was built around 2007, so first signs of age are getting obvious and repairs do not always keep up. There are many workers, guards and portiers around but the service can not compete with a similar international level. The compound is separated in 2 areas by Weifang road. Both parts have a clubhouse (gym, pool, tennis and soccer fields, sauna, ...). The northern part also has squash courts and the famous "Tropical Pool" with outdoor wave pool, beach, palm trees and bar. From many of the appartments (mainly above 30th floor) there is a nice view over the river or to the famous sky scrapers. Shanghai Tower is just 30-45 minutes walking distance away. There is a huge park with 7 different gardens around the buildings, e.g. the British Lawn, Japanese Garden, French Maze and German Swan Lake. The whole area is quite laid back and quiet. Around the compound there are several local and international supermarkets and other shops as well as restaurants etc. The river promenade is just a few meters away. Most people in Shimao Riviera Garden are Chinese, but there are also big groups of international expats. Every morning school buses from many international schools pick up children.

I stay there 2 nights for a business / conference trip in November 2014. Great gym for workout. The pool is not a 50m size but remains ok for a workout.. Breakfast provide a large and well-diversified choice. Quiet place and standard room are OK. Night turns out at a cost of around 110 Euros for a standard single room.

This is one of the worst hotels I've ever stayed in. I thought I'd booked into a nice hotel since it's a sofitel, but the definition of luxury got lost in translation. This hotel is old and reeks of lame attempt at projecting "luxury". It's also more of a family hotel with guests bringing literally their whole family (the grandparents, the children, the ayis). Forget about luxury or romance; this is not the place to go.

It'd be average for a 4 star, definitely not 5 star. Breakfast buffet is adequate for a 4 star and disappointing for a 5 star. It's big and has a conference centre, those are the plus points. It's in the middle of nowhere, it's as far as the airport from the city but in the other direction. I definitely would not choose to stay here.

16Sun Island Resorts, Shanghai

Hotel
Sun Island Resorts is a hotel in Shanghai which offers golf facilities, restaurants and conference stuff for business types. It shares an island with a 1200-year-old pagoda,...
Location is away from the main city of Shanghai. It is a wellness resort that tunes us in line with nature. Not far from ancient water towns like Zhu Jia Jiao. Has very good spa facilities, good size chats and villas. Lots of activities from horseback riding, go-kart, to wave pools, fishing, and learning the workings of nature and man. Definitely an experience to create and treasure.

The rooms were quite clean and nicely decorated. They had all of the modern amenities including a western style toilet. There were two choices for meals. You can prepare your own or you can eat at the main building. There was often a buffet that allowed you to pick what you wanted. It was also possible to order from their menu as well. There was somewhat of a language barrier as we did not speak any Chinese. They spoke enough English at the main desk to get along and were very friendly. They provided a guide who spoke fluent English and had many insights on tourist destinations. The guide arranged a driver to take us to Suzhou and Hangzhou as well as into Shanghai. The guide also was willing to come with us a couple of times and this was most helpful. There was a convenience store nearby with items for preparing your own meals – which seemed to be quite popular. We stayed there for a week over new-years (calendar) and the weather was usually frost at sunrise and it warmed up during the day to the teens C. They have a golf course and horses but I believe these are only available in the warm weather. The resort is on an island so there’s often the sound of boats on the river at night.

We stayed here through a timeshare exchange. The resort is peaceful and quiet, and the grounds are beautiful. We had a bungalow with a bedroom, spacious living room, dining room, nice bathroom off the master, and kitchen with a stove, sink and wine cooler that served as a mini fridge. It was very clean and well maintained. The staff is helpful, especially the guest services manager who made herself available by phone, text and in person to help us arrange car services and answered questions about getting around and local attractions. Not everyone speaks English but there was always someone who could help in every department we interacted with (restaurants, front desk, activities, housekeeping, etc). We mostly ate in our room or out during our day trips to Shanghai but we did enjoy the breakfast buffet several days. I believe it was about $40 for three people if I recall. There is a small bus that can be called to get anywhere around the resort (it was about 1/4 mile from our bungalow to the front desk/main building and about 1/2-3/4 mile in the other direction to the main entrance). There is a small grocery store in the main building for noodles, eggs and non-perishables. The resort is 1 1/2 hours from the city center. Booking car service through the resort into/from the city is about $80 each way. If you arrange taxi on your own, it's about $50 each way. We often took the local bus service (#3) to Zhujiaojio, where we then could take the train (#17) into the city. The bus originates right outside the resort entrance and is 1 Yen per person. It's a 40 minute ride to Zhujiaojio. You can't miss the stop for the train station. The train is 8Y each way per person to ride on three lines, which is typically what is needed to get to the key tourist destinations. The train trip takes 2-3 hours each way and the Zhujiaojio station closes at 11 p.m. The train system is easy to navigate because everything is translated in English. It gets very crowded as you near the city but hardly anyone is on at Zhujiajio because it's the second from the last stop on the line.

New Star is a Korean-style bathhouse and spa with multiple locations in Shanghai. It offers a wide range of facilities including hot tubs, cool baths, steam and dry saunas, showers, a restaurant, and lounge. Visitors can also enjoy massages or skin treatments. The entrance fee provides access to gender-segregated hot and cold pools, saunas, heated igloos, and other amenities. One visitor particularly enjoyed the sauna at 99 degrees Celsius and the 5-degree Celsius water bath.
Wonderful spa and sauna. Several pools with different temperatures of water, good massage and about 84 C in the sauna. They have a nice restaurant and awesome balcony to smoke. If you dont eat tgere or take massage the price would be approximately 100-150 RMB for several hours in the spa.

(Translated by Google) We used the underground spa facility in September 2024. I was brought here by a friend who lives in Shanghai. It was about 240 yuan for two people. I came here for the sauna, but the sauna was 99 degrees Celsius and very humid, and the water bath was 5 degrees Celsius. It felt really, really good. The coldness of the water bath was impressive. I don't think there are many sauna facilities in my home country, Japan, where you can experience the same water temperature. 💧 No need to bring your own towel. You can use an unlimited number of sheets. There is no charge for towel rental, it is included in the price. It is a Korean-style, high-class facility with a luxurious feel. Traveling is fun, but I think it can be a little tiring. However, I am glad that I was able to fully recover from my fatigue and return to my normal life. ♨️

If you decide to become a member, you'll gain access to an array of amenities including the gym, spa, fitness classes, and sauna with just one monthly pass.
Hello, my name is Francesco Ciccioni. I am an actor and speaker, I am also the owner of a traditional fitness center in Milan. Here in Italy the sector has stopped for almost two months due to the well-known story of Covid 19, so we live a few weeks late compared to what happened in its fascinating country. I read that the gyms in the metropolis in which he lives are reopening. It would be very useful for me to have some information about the changes made within its structure to respect the social distance imposed by the regulations and the interventions it had to support in order to offer customers all the necessary guarantees (internal structures, automated mechanisms to measure body temperature, etc.) to preserve its health. In short, I ask you to be able to consult the protocol drawn up ad hoc for the occasion, as I would thus have the opportunity to better evaluate in advance the changes to be implemented, which would allow me in this way to be ready when finally also in Italy the conditions for a new beginning will reappear. Thank you very much. Best regards and best wishes for your life.

The club house of a private residential estate. It is equipped with most of the sports facilities you can imagine. There are two swimming pool, one outdoor and one indoor. The gym is really good
Wan-man W — Google review
Not a member. I'm a citizen living in the neighborhood. They constructed an open-air swimming pool this year, wonder if they have ever consulted the local community management and the residents around. So normally, it's very loud with kids playing in the pool. And today July 17th, they held an open-air party with music playing out loud. I reported via the hotline, the reception told it would end at 7:30, while it actually lasted till 9pm. It's located in the center of Shanghai. As you can see in the pictures on their official website, old residence buildings around and a few tall apartment buildings in the compound where the club is, underground actually, next to the parking lot. I visited the cafe there once. There's enough water parks, clubs, resorts for you to have fun in Shanghai. Really don't need this small one for a few of your limited members' convenience and deprive others' rights. They would not approve my comments on their wechat account apparently, which would be seen by their members or potential members who follow it.
