The Ritz-Carlton Shanghai, Pudong is a luxurious hotel located at the top of the IFC complex, offering stunning views of 1930s Shanghai and the modern Lujiazui finance and trade zone. The hotel features 285 guest rooms and suites with Art Deco-inspired interiors, as well as four restaurants, an indoor pool, and a spa.
The hotel was lovely! As expected from a Ritz hotel, however there is an amazing lady called An there who made our stay absolutely amazing! Our little boy Harry loved her so much he made a life time friend! She was so kind, sweet, welcoming and beautiful inside and out. It was our 1st wedding anniversary and they delivered us flowers and a cake with rose petals, it was so lovely to come back to our room. An had wrote our card and it was so touching! We will most definitely be visiting Shanghai again and would choose that hotel all over again just because of An! Thank you for making our trip to Shanghai as lovely as it was. Anyone can build a hotel but the people working there are the ones who truely make it what it is. All the staff were amazing and you could see we’re a lovely team together! Thank you and we will see you again soon!

Our stay at The Ritz-Carlton was truly unforgettable. From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel not just like guests, but genuinely cared for. Every detail from the beautifully designed room to the thoughtful touches throughout our stay exceeded our expectations. It’s the kind of place where you feel both completely at ease and wonderfully spoiled at the same time. We left with memories we’ll cherish and can’t wait to return.

Very pleasant stay, good service and the right rooms have great views. Breakfast buffet is OK but options are on the light side. The bathtub in the middle of the toilet seemed like an afterthought and to be honest looked like a coffin, which is a bit eerie. Overall, the rooms were a bit aged. Would recommend to try it out though

The service here was truly exceptional. I cannot begin to express how thoughtful the staff were and how at home they made us feel. Winga the front of house manager, was a star. She went out of her way to accommodate and anticipate our needs. The hotel is on the old side and there are far more modern options on the bund. So I think it says a lot when we say we will be back again given the opportunity!! Thank you so much Winga

Had a lovely staycation here. Check-in was super easy, and the bed was incredibly comfortable, I actually slept for 14 hours straight and woke up feeling completely refreshed, no jet lag at all. The gym was well-equipped and nice and quiet during breakfast time, which made for a great morning workout. Breakfast was wonderful with a wide variety of options, the pastries were delicious, and I especially loved the Chinese dumplings. We arrived early and got an amazing seat with a beautiful view of Shanghai’s Pearl Tower. The service throughout our stay was excellent, couldn’t have asked for better!

An iconic stay at the renowned Ritz-Carlton Pudong, a well-deserved MICHELIN Key honoree. This hotel holds the most prime position in Lujiazui, with direct access to the IFC Mall and metro. I was hosted in the magnificent Bund View Suite, offering floor-to-ceiling panoramas that transform into a light show at dusk. The interior is a masterclass in contemporary elegance with Art Deco touches. The Ritz-Carlton Club Lounge on the 49th floor is a "hotel within a hotel," offering five culinary presentations with stunning city backdrops. Dining at Scena was a highlight, both for breakfast with the Pearl Tower and an exquisite chef's tasting menu by night. The FLAIR rooftop bar is legendary, and the infinity pool on the 53rd floor is an aquatic escape in the clouds. The service from every Lady and Gentleman was warm and impeccably attentive. A truly unforgettable experience that commemorated my 16th stay with the brand perfectly.

I had an unforgettable experience at The Ritz-Carlton, Shanghai. My mother accidentally left her phone in a taxi, and we were completely panicked. Thankfully, Rosy from the hotel staff went above and beyond, spending so much time and effort to help us. Thanks to her dedication and kindness, we were able to get the phone back. I’m truly grateful — her professionalism and genuine care made our stay even more special❤️

Such a wonderful experience! It was our first trip back to Shanghai aside from layovers since 2018 and we had such a wonderful time at the Ritz Carlton! The service was fantastic (they even received a giant box of six wedding gowns for us!), the views and club lounge amazing (special thanks to them being so accommodating for our cocktail and champagne requests! They even had caviar one night, which we were so upset to have missed!), food, and drinks also wonderful, our only regret was that we did not have better weather - or more time there!

The Fairmont Peace Hotel in Shanghai is a luxurious Art-Deco masterpiece that has been reinvented for the 21st century, exuding old-fashioned glamour with a modern twist. Located at the heart of The Bund promenade and just a short walk from Nanjing Road Pedestrian Street, it offers an ideal base to explore Shanghai's stunning scenery and lively atmosphere.
Staying at the Peace Hotel was an absolute delight! From the moment I walked through the door, I was greeted with warm smiles and exceptional service from the friendly staff. The hotel's elegant and historical architecture, combined with its modern amenities, created a unique and charming atmosphere. My room was impeccably clean, comfortable, and well-appointed, offering a perfect blend of luxury and comfort. The beds were super cozy, ensuring a restful night's sleep. The hotel's location is also unbeatable, right in the heart of the city, making it convenient to explore nearby attractions and enjoy the vibrant local scene. I also had the pleasure of dining at the hotel's restaurant, and the food was simply delicious. The menu offered a great variety of dishes, prepared with high-quality ingredients and exquisite flavors. Overall, I couldn't be happier with my experience at the Peace Hotel. It truly exceeded my expectations, and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a top-notch stay. I'm already looking forward to my next visit!

Searched for a good hotel nearby and this stay didnt dissapoint the experience. Having to be in a historical buiilding that has been well maintained in a very pristine conditions and having so much appreciative antics, it brings much appreciations on how the managements and staff has painstakingly preserve the essence of the hotel. I have been offered a good room upgrade which i definately enjoys the space, unfortunately didnt manage to get a good view of the bund lights decorations as it faces the side road. Breakfast was also great, selections is not as huge as other hotels I have been previously, but those select few rotating dishes taste delicious and every morning I looked forward to breakfast of xiao long bao. While Front Desk staff ,Concierge, Executive Lounge team has been superb, I could notice that the morning breakfast staff would seem to be new and slightly inexperience. All in all, my Shanghai vacation was made great due to my stay in the pleasant hotel.

The Fairmont Peace Hotel 上海和平饭店 is less a hotel and more a time machine with room service. Opened in 1929 as the Cathay Hotel by Sir Victor Sassoon (a man who basically decided Shanghai needed Vegas before Vegas existed), it still stands on the Bund like an Art Deco pyramid doing a permanent mic drop. Walk through the doors and suddenly you’re not in 2025, you’re in a Shanghai where tuxedoed millionaires clinked martinis with qipao-clad movie stars, and jazz was considered international diplomacy. The marble floors gleam so hard you could land a plane on them, the chandeliers look like they were designed to outshine the sun, and somewhere in the corner the Old Jazz Band keeps playing, proving that neither music nor musicians ever truly retire, they just become historical exhibits with trumpets. Rooms? Plush enough to make you wonder if you should sleep or just lie awake admiring the wallpaper. Service? The kind where staff anticipate your needs before you do, which is charming and slightly terrifying. And the bar? It makes you feel like you’re in a 1930s spy thriller, waiting for someone to slide you a top-secret file along with your gin fizz. Yes, it’s absurdly expensive. Yes, it’s over the top. But this isn’t just a hotel.. it’s a shrine to Shanghai’s roaring past, where history, jazz, and glamour got drunk together and decided never to sober up. Highly recommended if you want to stay somewhere that feels less like lodging and more like starring in your own vintage movie.

A flawless 5-night family stay (18–23 September) at this living Art Deco museum, Fairmont Peace Hotel exceeded every expectation. Our Fairmont King Room felt like an elegant apartment at 49m², with a super-king bed, even larger than advertised, luxurious finishes, and immaculate twice-daily housekeeping. The hotel’s heritage tours made the history come alive (don’t miss them!), and there were charming nooks to discover everywhere. Location is unbeatable, directly opposite the Bund and moments from the main shopping strip yet the interiors are serenely quiet. We loved the Jazz Bar, and the gym and pool were top-notch, but it was the service that truly made our stay: every staff member was warm and proactive, and a special thank-you to Alexander, who checked in on us throughout our stay and even arranged a private tour. The team graciously accommodated a late checkout for our evening flight and made it effortless when we decided to add an extra night.

During our recent family stay at the Fairmont Peace Hotel in Shanghai, we were thoroughly impressed. The service was impeccable, making us feel welcomed and pampered throughout our visit. The rooms blended historic charm with every modern comfort, providing a perfect retreat after a day exploring the city. A highlight was the Jazz Bar, where the old jazz band created a lively yet cozy atmosphere, ideal for unwinding. The breakfast buffet was a feast, with diverse options to satisfy every palate. It was a memorable experience for the whole family, one we’d eagerly recommend for a taste of luxury steeped in history.

On exterior only: ✨ A living time capsule on the Bund! Built in 1929 by Victor Sassoon, once the Cathay Hotel, it’s pure Art Deco glamour with a copper roof that still gleams. The real magic? The legendary Old Jazz Band—average age 80+ and still swinging every night! 🥂🎷 Step inside and you’re transported to Old Shanghai, where Chaplin once stayed and the cocktails taste like stories. Pricey? (Appx RMB410/pax) Sure. But it’s history, jazz, and a cheeky wink from the past all wrapped into one unforgettable night.
The T — Google review
Shanghai's Peace Hotel embodies timeless elegance. Stepping inside feels like entering a living piece of Art Deco history, beautifully preserved. My room perfectly blended classic charm with modern comfort – spotless and inviting. What truly defined the stay, however, was the impeccable service. Staff were attentive, genuinely warm, and anticipated needs effortlessly. A flawless fusion of heritage and hospitality. Unforgettable and highly recommended!

The staff absolutely make this place 5 star . They are by far the most knowledgeable and professional in their work . Always at hand yet never in the way or intrusive. Everything else people talk about the style and quality of the building is all true as well . I guess what I am trying to say is that stuff wouldn’t matter if you were not being taken care of during your stay by staff so you can enjoy the surroundings and amenities.

The PuLi Hotel and Spa is a sophisticated high-rise hotel located in the heart of Shanghai's JingAn district. It is a popular choice among the city's fashion elite, offering sleek minimalist design, a chic Long Bar, and a Michelin-starred restaurant called Phenix. The 229 rooms are stylish and sensual with dark wood accents, white beds, and large bathtubs overlooking the city.
Great resort hotel! It’s located in a central part where there’s a lot of shopping and restaurants. The walk to the station was really close too. Staff was always available to help. Spa was very relaxing - I did the diamond scrub and facial package. Gym was decent, but would get hot. Pool and saunas were nice. Phenix restaurant was lovely experience and the breakfast was delicious too. I also ordered room service and it’s one of the best meals I’ve ever gotten from room service - the Norwegian salmon and panna cotta dessert.

Modern luxury hotel, Relatively well located - depending on where you need to be (not by the Bund). Rooms are spacious, with very comfortable bed. Depending on room, you get a bathtub with nice outside view. Semi- buffet style Breakfast usually good, with a choice of Chinese and western options.
Serge A — Google review
The hotel was exceptional - design, food , location and service. The terrace is amazing , relaxing while you sit by a large pond/water feature making you forget you are actually in Jing'an and in central Shanghai - a real urban retreat! The only thing was the room was the bed was very, very uncomfortable and more like a futon and the bedding was not of great quality. Other than that everything was perfect!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I stayed at The PuLi Hotel and Spa for 10 days, and it was a truly world-class experience. 🌟 From the moment I arrived, everything radiated calm sophistication the scent, the design, the service. The location is perfect, right in the heart of Jing’an, with easy access to all the best spots in Shanghai. My room was elegant, quiet, and impeccably clean, with breathtaking views of the city skyline. Housekeeping was discreet and flawless. The spa? Sublime. The pool? A hidden oasis. 🌆💆‍♂️ Yes, there were a few very minor imperfections but what stood out most was how the staff went above and beyond every single time to ensure my stay remained perfect. Truly warm, attentive, and professional service. 👏 A genuine sanctuary in one of Asia’s most vibrant cities. Highly recommended for travelers who value luxury, serenity, and exceptional hospitality. I will definitely return. 🇨🇳✨

Will The PuLi's Remodeling Ruin Jaya’s Masterpiece? The PuLi Hotel & Spa in Shanghai has recently begun its first comprehensive renovation since opening 16 years ago. This spatial masterpiece was designed by the late Jaya Ibrahim. From the very beginning it redefined urban retreat with its serene Eastern aesthetics and restrained modern language. Quiet yet rich in timeless details it has become an irreplaceable benchmark for city living in the hearts of many. Precisely because its complete and self contained design left such a deep impression any changes now feel particularly sensitive. As news of the renovation spreads and with the original designer no longer present voices across social media are pleading please do not change The PuLi. This is likely not a rejection of evolution but a hope that the hotel’s aesthetic can continue with dignity. The true test for the new team is how to honor the original spirit while responding to the passage of time. But why does a renovation provoke such strong reactions? Is renovating The PuLi truly necessary? To be honest the recent release of photos showing the renovated Park Hyatt Tokyo has added to people’s concerns about The PuLi’s upcoming changes. That pioneering hotel opened in 1994 in the Shinjuku Park Tower with interiors by John Morford. Its minimalist and forward looking design influenced countless designers and became a classic in Asian hospitality history. After gaining global fame through the film Lost in Translation it holds cherished memories for many travelers and helped shape the less is more aesthetic core of the Park Hyatt brand. Last year Park Hyatt Tokyo closed for a year long renovation led by French design firm Jouin Manku. Yet the revealed new look left many disappointed. The once calm and classic spaces are now filled with decorative artwork and busy details. The subtle play of light and thoughtful use of emptiness have faded and the distinctive sense of quiet detachment unique to the Tokyo property has dissipated. With Hyatt’s top leadership now entirely changed pioneering works like this may become rarer. Minimalism has lost its lingering charm. Having witnessed such a loss of soul in a renovation it is no wonder people are wary of changes to another groundbreaking hotel like The PuLi. The heart of the debate around The PuLi’s renovation lies in its design. Its spatial language is so classic it has transcended function to become a frequently referenced model in hotel design history. Because its influence runs deep the concern is real. Will the renovation ruin Jaya’s masterpiece? According to the latest updates The PuLi began its renovation at the end of August with a focus on functional upgrades and overall quality improvements not just room updates. Reassuringly the original team is returning. LANYA remains in charge of interiors The Flaming Beacon again handles lighting and the newly joined SPIN Design Studio known for its work on several Rosewood dining venues will refresh the food and beverage spaces. This reunion of the original creators suggests the goal is not a reinvention but a thoughtful evolution that deepens and responds to the initial vision. What makes a true classic? It is not about age but the ability to stand firm over time. The fact that The PuLi is still cherished after 16 years shows its design has endured shifting trends. Perhaps we can afford a little patience. Buildings age and maintenance is inevitable. The real challenge is to make careful repairs that meet modern needs without disturbing the original tranquility. Time will tell. The story of The PuLi is still being written. Its reverence for design and thoughtful approach to living continue to shine quietly amid the city’s noise.

It truly saddens me to see a hotel I once admired for its caliber seemingly losing its touch. I've always been drawn to the timeless design of both the lobby and the rooms. However, it feels as though the service hasn't kept pace with other luxury hotels. Perhaps I'm spoiled, but I believe a genuinely five-star establishment should strive to anticipate guest needs before being asked. Here, it felt like staff often needed a gentle nudge. My room, unfortunately had a noticeable odor, and the presence of an already running air purifier suggested this was a known issue. Simple conveniences, like a dental kit or a razor, required a call to guest services. The toilet also wasn't a smart toilet (which is becoming a standard in luxury hotels in Asia). Breakfast was similarly underwhelming. The buffet selections were limited, and curiously, dim sum and wonton had to be ordered separately, despite their rather unremarkable taste – it makes you wonder why they aren't just part of the buffet. I'm aware that room renovations are on the horizon, and I'm hopeful that these improvements will also extend to the service.

This is not a 5-star hotel. Our ‘suite’ is tired: the furniture has nicks and chips, scuffs and water leak stains on the wall. We have a 12”, SHARP tv in our bedroom that looks like it’s from the 90’s which, how that is even possible, I don’t know. There is barely enough room on my side of the bed to get into bed. Service is friendly and fine but not impeccable. The lobby is busy with randos posing and taking photos for social media.

Waldorf Astoria Shanghai on the Bund is a luxurious hotel that seamlessly blends the history and culture of Shanghai Bund with modern sophistication. The hotel features opulent rooms and suites, three elegant restaurants, an indoor pool, and a spa. It comprises a 100-year-old wing alongside a new tower, offering 260 well-appointed accommodations, stylish dining and lounging spaces, banquet facilities with stunning views, a luxury spa, and a fully-equipped gym.
Our three-night stay at the Junior Suite was great, the room is super comfy and nice. The airport pickup service was a great. It was not only prompt, but they also provided a car seat for our toddler. Car seat option is quite rare for airport pick ups in China, so I really appreciated this. Upon arrival, we were met with a warm welcome; hotel staff were lined up at the door, ready to assist as I was carrying our child – a truly sweet and helpful gesture. The in-room check-in was another convenient touch, making our arrival smooth and stress-free. Our room was already prepared when we arrived. The requested cot and bottle sterilizer were already in place, and they also provided baby soap and a baby bathtub for our little one. The room itself was spacious and comfortable, offering ample room for our toddler to play freely. The hotel breakfast buffet offered a good selection, and while not extensive, the quality was high. What truly elevated our dining experience was the attentive and helpful staff. We want to extend a special thank you to Sang, whose consistent attentiveness during our meals there was remarkable. Sang was always polite, friendly, eager to serve, and ensured our needs were always met. Great experience at Waldorf!

One of the best hotels I have ever stayed in; elegant opulence and luxurious without being over the top. Waldorf Astoria Shanghai on the Bund is situated in the best location in Shanghai with wonderful views of the Bund if you are fortunate enough to get one of the rooms with a view; if not, the Bund is a mere 5 minute walk away! I have to commend all staff that I encountered - from the polite bell boys to the friendly reception to the friendly breakfast staff to the incredibly attentive housekeeping to the accommodating gym staff. Nothing was too much trouble! The rooms were clean, spacious and immaculate; housekeeping have an amazing attention to detail and I was so impressed with the fresh room everyday during my stay. I loved how grand the bathrooms were with their Aesop amenities, full-length mirrors, marble details, separate bath/shower and Japanese Toto toilets. I thoroughly enjoyed the wonderful breakfast especially the made to order items like the Shanghai noodles and the amazing made to order coffee (especially the iced latte!) The hotel is faultless and I would not hesitate to stay here again.

Excellent Location, most of the things you would like to see as a tourist is within walking distance.. The room is amazing, big plus that they have japanese toilers. Service is great, everyone from the moment i stepped in was helpful and nice.. Breakfast was solid but can be better, while you can order omelette, theres no way to customize it to your liking. They have bagels but did not have cream cheese for several days. Also the lounge have nothing in it except some drinks.

An excellent quality stay from check-in to check-out. We were warmly greeted and upgraded, demonstrating that the hotel recognizes and values loyalty status. The service was exceptional, with very helpful staff. The hotel's cleanliness was impeccable. The room, located in the new, modern building (we declined an offer to upgrade to the older section), was clean and well presented. Both the breakfast selection and the evening meal were excellent. Overall, the location, service, and experience were perfect. Highly recommended, and we would definitely stay again.

The hotel is gorgeous. Rooms are very nicely done and spacious. Service is great, concierge very helpful and speaks English really well helps us with all our arrangements Breakfast variety was my only complaint, a hotel like this should have a better selection.

Our stay at the Waldorf Astoria Shanghai on the Bund was exceptional. The hotel perfectly blends historic charm with modern luxury, offering stunning views of the Huangpu River and impeccable service from start to finish. Rooms are elegant and comfortable, and the location can’t be beaten. Jud, Max and all staff were genuinely helpful and impressed — it’s a beautiful reminder that true hospitality still exists.

This is a legendary brand but the staff at the Waldorf Shanghai is clueless and the team lack basic communication Negatives - check in was supposed to be at 3pm but at 3pm, the new staff simply play it down and told us we need to wait another hour ++ or so because it wasn’t “ready” - the cafe / restaurant on site advertise as a place to chill and drink for hotel guest on their website and pamphlet but when I was there, the staff told us we MUST order their high tea , which contradicts what they’re promoting - the staff is like playing roulette and at times you will get friendly staff and at times you get attitude from them - the deposit was also another ridiculous issue. The cost of the hotel was about $3.5k USD ++. But then we staff insist that our “deposit” for the stay is around 15k RMB which is ridiculous for a 5-6 night stay in a normal room Much is left to be desired. Positives - the duty manager in-charge, Steven Diep was fantastic and special mentioned has to be given to him for handling the issue Takeaway - your stay will pretty much depend on the experience of the staff which is something not expected of a legendary 5-star brand

Excellent location Good service and room to the river sight is very beautiful. Select high floors for better view. They have 24 floors. Just 5 min walk from Nanjing Road and from the Garden in the old city and 2 min from the river. Breakfast restaurant is big.

The Peninsula Shanghai is a luxurious hotel located in the heart of Shanghai, offering stunning views of the city's new skyline and proximity to historic neighborhoods and Ming pavilions. The hotel's architecture pays homage to Art Deco while incorporating modern elements, creating an elegant and intimate atmosphere. Guests can indulge in exquisite dining at three restaurants, relax at two bars with river views, and rejuvenate at the spa featuring an indoor pool.
A flawless five-star experience at The Peninsula Shanghai — a true benchmark of world-class hospitality. From the moment of arrival to departure, every interaction reflected impeccable professionalism, attention to detail, and genuine care. The staff delivers service with seamless precision and warm discretion, creating an atmosphere that is both luxurious and deeply personal. The Peninsula blends timeless elegance with modern sophistication — from the beautifully appointed rooms with sweeping views of the Bund, to the curated dining experiences and exceptional concierge service. Every element of the stay felt intentional, refined, and executed to perfection. This is not just a hotel — it is an elevated experience where hospitality becomes an art form. Highly recommended for discerning travelers who value excellence in every detail.

Room and location was nice and that’s it. Service could really be improved here. I first notified the hotel there were cigarette smell in my room but it felt like they did not do much to rectify it. So I was left staying in the room with that smell the whole night. Breakfast was slow and food was average. Would definitely head to other hotels for the price paid at this property.

After having stayed at The Peninsula in Bangkok, so impressed that I booked The Peninsula in Shanghai hoping to explore more of this chain. I was traveling with my dad. However, I was pretty disappointed as everything is subpar. I think you’re paying for the location and the decor of the hotel, aside from that, nothing stood out. Not the service, not the amenities, nothing. Breakfast feels and looks very skimmed and uptight. It’s pretty odd that breakfast is served at the hotel lobby. Hotel Lobby did not have any seating area. Not memorable, instead we felt like we regretted the decision to stay here. Would rather go to other hotels for that price. The only thing I would remember is staying at the same hotel as an NBA player - that’s all 😆

My wife and I stayed at The Peninsula in Shanghai, and it was an incredible experience! The hotel was super comfortable and the staff welcoming. The room had stunning views of the Bund. We had such a great time and would definitely love to go back!

I would like to share some feedback regarding my recent visit. I believe it would be very helpful if your staff were better able to communicate in English, as this is essential for providing a smooth guest experience. In addition, during the afternoon tea service, I was surprised to see men being served before women. At the very least, I would expect the courtesy of serving women first.

The Peninsula Shanghai 上海半岛酒店, where luxury doesn’t stroll in politely, it storms in wearing a top hat, monocle, and a diamond-studded cufflink, and expects you to bow. Opened in 2009, this was the first new Bund building in over 60 years, basically Shanghai saying “We’re back, but classier this time” and yes, the ghosts of colonial bankers are probably rolling in their graves just to watch you sip your cocktail. Designed by HOK, every marble slab, bronze detail, and triple-paned window is screaming, “Look at me! Your wallet doesn’t belong here, but your Instagram does.” Inside, you’ve got 235 rooms and suites, five restaurants and bars, a spa, a pool, and a fitness center, all meticulously staged so you can feel like royalty while your bank account weeps quietly in the corner. Oh, and for those with shopping ambitions, the Chanel store is right here too, conveniently reminding you luxury is never just about rooms. Well I didn’t stay.. wallet didn’t permit but who knows, if The Peninsula Shanghai sees this post, maybe they’ll consider giving me a free night, haha. The Peninsula 上海 is the hotel equivalent of a reality TV star at a black-tie gala dazzling, over-the-top, slightly intimidating, and somehow, you can’t stop staring.

The Shanghai Marriott Hotel City Centre is a luxurious accommodation located in the heart of Downtown Shanghai, providing easy access to popular attractions such as the Bund and Nanjing Road. The hotel features 720 spacious guest rooms with stunning city views and comfortable amenities. Guests can enjoy diverse dining options, a luxury spa offering various treatments, and an indoor pool. With its convenient location on Xizang Road, this upscale hotel is an ideal choice for travelers looking to explore the vibrant city of Shanghai.
Location is great if you plan on walking anywhere near nanjing road- minus one cos cars coming to here to pick you up will face some heavy traffic. But otherwise, overall great experience, the rooms were comfortable and I felt well taken care of by the staff. Lovely lobby area and a happy hour from 5-8pm. The rooms aren’t huge so keep that in mind as we struggled to keep two large suitcases open (we don’t like to unpack everything for a 2 night trip)

2/5 stars I'm disappointed to say that our recent stay at the Shanghai Marriott Hotel City Center fell short of our expectations, especially considering our Super Elite membership status. As frequent Marriott guests, we've come to expect a certain level of service and quality, but unfortunately, this hotel didn't deliver. The room amenities were subpar, with the phone not working even for city calls, and the front desk being unhelpful and trying to charge us for a local call. We were left hanging without a callback. Additionally, me and my daughter had to wait 30 minutes in the middle of our shower after the long Disneyland trip at 10sh pm because the hair conditioner and shower gel containers were empty, and the wrong bathroom stuff was brought to our room. The lounge experience was also a letdown. Despite being a family with young children, we weren't allowed to access the lounge, food was subpar and our kids felt isolated throughout our 4-night stay. In contrast, our subsequent stay at the Mandarin Oriental was a breath of fresh air. The hotel's family-friendly atmosphere and exceptional service were a stark contrast to our experience at the Marriott. The front desk staff, concierge, and other team members spoke great English and went above and beyond to make our stay special, and comfortable, especially for our little ones. The thoughtful touches, such as providing small indoor slippers and towels for our kids, made them feel like princes and princess. If you're traveling with family and kids, I'd highly recommend considering the Mandarin Oriental over the Marriott (more business) The difference in service and amenities was night and day. *Suggestions for improvement:* - Ensure that room amenities, including phones and toiletries, are functioning and readily available. - Provide better training for front desk staff on handling guest issues and providing excellent customer service. - Consider revising the lounge policy to be more family-friendly and inclusive. *Overall:* While we're loyal Marriott customers, our experience at this hotel was a disappointment. Perhaps with some improvements, future guests with young family will have a more enjoyable stay.

I had stayed at the Hyatt before and wanted to go back there. However, the location for the Marriott is unbeatable. Also, very worth upgrading to the executive lounge access. The afternoon cocktails are good enough for dinner. Very quiet breakfast at the 37 floor. Good gym too! Massage was just ok.

If you book under the Marriott System, you'll likely be confused... I was. This is the SHANGHAI MARRIOTT MARQUIS CITY CENTRE. Most reviews I read have been representative of the reality... If you're a first time visitor to Shanghai, or if you need to be close to the gastronomic and retail scene here, or just need to be within a 10 minute walk on the pedestrian-only Nanjing Road leading to The Bund, this hotel is hard to beat. The hotel hard product is not old and run down that may be the case for even some other high end international hotel properties here. It's overall well maintained and in good nick. Showers and toilets work well, so does the room air-conditioning and comfy beds. In terms of the soft product, everything (for me) comes down to the staff and how well they make you feel welcome. ALEX and SUNNY are top notch staff in the Executive lounge here on the 37th floor... My flight was due to leave past midnight and they were accommodating enough to let us hang around until 9pm when we were due to head to Pudong airport. It's things like this that makes the Marriott Marquis Shanghai City Centre a good value proposition (even though they're priced on the higher end of Marriott properties in Shanghai). I would absolutely consider staying here again.

Despite the hotel being clean, spacious, and in a great location, it’s unfortunately not family friendly at all. We were a group of multiple families with toddlers and made our booking 3 months in advance, clearly requesting rooms on the same floor or connecting rooms. On the day of check-in, we were told that no rooms were available on the same floor and that we had to pay extra for connecting rooms. This was really disappointing and doesn’t make sense for such a large 5-star hotel that had plenty of time to prepare. The receptionist, Koi, is not accommodating and escalated the issue to her manager Grace Cong, but she never came back with a solution and simply disappeared. The whole process took us 1 hour plus and the only solution if to pay extra charge for 2 rooms located on the same floor in this 5-stars hotel. To add on, we booked for 3 nights stay at this hotel which to us is fair to request for a same floor room as travel with kiddos. As Marriott Bonvoy members, this was by far our worst experience at any Marriott property. It’s also the first time we’ve ever been charged just to have 2 rooms on the same floor as the only choice available is to get the connecting rooms with extra charge per night

The Shanghai Marriott Marquis City Centre has an excellent location. Nanjing Road East and People’s Square is virtually a few minutes walk away. The hotel is not new but keeps her age well. On many fronts, this property has potential. We stayed for 6 nights. M Club Mr Alex attended to our check in. During our stay, Alex is the only associate who represented the M Club well. He was friendly, enquiring plus sharp. We found the rest of the team subdued and perhaps could not understand what a premium club stood for. The breakfast and evening cocktail food selection were repetitive and lack lustre. Warm food was seldom warm. Quality bordering on budget rather than spectacular. The buffet station was seldom attended to. Though the alcohol selection was generous enough. Meanwhile breakfast at the 3 rd floor dining room was dismal! Again, quality was highly missing. Buffet looks messy. Food was not tasty. Staff robotic. Uninterested. Even the cutlery does not match. Housekeeping did a good job with our family suite each day. Gym receptionists could be more enthusiastic! A simple smile goes a long way. As mentioned, the hotel has potential. Sadly, this appears to be neglected or overlooked. Staff Training appears to be high on their list! Definitely not a 5 star but nothing is impossible if we wake up from a dream to face reality!

Exceptional Stay in the Heart of Shanghai! I had the pleasure of staying at the Shanghai Marriott Hotel City Centre, and it was an outstanding experience from the moment I arrived. The hotel is incredibly well-located—just steps away from Nanjing Road, Shanghai’s iconic shopping and entertainment strip, and within walking distance to The Bund, where the skyline view is simply unforgettable, especially at night. The service at the hotel was world-class. The staff were warm, attentive, and always ready to help with a smile. My room was spacious, modern, and impeccably clean, with large windows offering stunning views of the city. The bed was exceptionally comfortable, making it a perfect retreat after a day of exploring. Breakfast was a delight—with a wide variety of both Western and Asian options, everything was fresh and delicious. The hotel also features a lovely lounge, a well-equipped fitness center, and a peaceful indoor pool. What made the stay even more special was the convenience of being right in the heart of the city—morning strolls along The Bund, evening shopping at Nanjing Road, and the ability to return to a peaceful, luxurious environment at the end of the day made it the perfect balance of adventure and relaxation. Highly recommended for business travelers, couples, and tourists alike. I’d absolutely return!

Stayed at the Shanghai Marriott Marquis City Centre and had an outstanding experience thanks to Duty Manager Carr. Jing An Shangri-La, West Shanghai is a luxurious hotel located in the heart of the city center, connected to the expansive Kerry Centre shopping mall and near Jing An park. The hotel boasts modern opulence with its grand lobby featuring lofty ceilings, marble accents, and dramatic floral displays. The rooms offer chic decor with elegant blossoms woven into thick carpets and hand-painted silk screens.
Travelled to Shanghai for work and the Jing An was great. Room was clean and spacious and food was good. Local shops were within walking distance. Service was excellent and wanted to call out Alisa (Yun Jing Jing) in the concierge team who really helped me out when I had an issue with a taxi. She was calm and helped resolve the issue. Well done to her! That was customer service 🙏🏽

Front office manager ( I think) and club manager , both of them made our stay easier and less hassle . We booked the club , the quality of food wasn’t great . The location was great!!! Tips : club wasn’t really valued ( for us ) . Food quality was low . We have booked early with prepaid conditions directly with the hotel ( DON’T DO THAT) The rate was very swing and one week before checking in we have found that we paid much higher than booking.com. Some staff at the club could speak a little bit of English which we totally understood. When we ordered Coke Zero , she couldn’t get what I meant . She didn’t even keep attempting but laughing . She was correct, a big joke, very funny !

Excellent hotel and location. Right by everything. Staff was wonderful, bell boys were great- they called us cabs daily. Food was wonderful (the buffet was actually a great perk each morning), and they had tons of spaces to do work. I even did a livestream downstairs. And the room had a fantastic view. Also wonderful gym.

This hotel is a joke. Booked through Amex FHR no upgrade and got a leaky room at first… freaking water drooping from the bedroom ceiling nonstop. The technician immediately knew what was going on and located a tube from a hidden corner where two bucket full of water got poured out - seems like it’s a recurring issue and yet it’s ok to let customers take the chances . Was sent to another room on a lower floor, with a moldy smell and construction noise from the next room. We wanted to give it another chance hoping the air conditioning would clear out the air and the construction would not last much longer. We came back around midnight but the smell was still very strong, and we were too tired to pack and switch room again, so we opted for an air purifier as a solution. Giving it the benefit of the doubt, we fell asleep but woke up at 6am by the lingering smell and suffocating feeling of toxic air. Me and my partner both couldn’t stand it anymore and asked for a room switch again, and amusingly got sent to another room on a different floor that was slightly less smelly but also having a construction right next door. Spa was equally horrible, not what one would expect from a high end hotel … I’m not sure the therapist was even legit given how strange the whole session went - making conversation that lacked boundary and scratching my hairline for a couple minutes as some kind of special technique? My back hurt afterwards when I specifically asked not to apply pressure on the back. When the session ended, I was told I would be served hot tea while I was given a cold one. One of the receptionists also asked if I had paid enough deposit to cover the fee and low-key pushingly suggesting me to leave while I was still having my tea… Too many details that made this place looked like an illegitimate workshop. Upon check out, we talked to the manager about the chain of unpleasant events and he offered us future upgrade, as if we would ever come back lol - why would anyone want to relive this nightmare.

Nice luxury hotel in good location - slightly outdated decor and vibe. Luxury property with very nice quality bathroom, bedroom, and living room. Executive lounge on 55th floor is massive but outdated and the food and drinks options are not great. Way below the equivalent at JW Marriott in Asia. Overall, a good option but a bit outdated.

Service was disgraceful, I booked through the Shangri-La Circle app and was initially given a room right next to an elevator, when I complained about the noise I was moved to a room right under the Horizon Club which was even louder. The staff also refused multiple times to let my partner and I use the minibar and said they would charge us extra for what we used, despite it being listed as an included amenity. I expect better from Shangri-La group and this experience was extremely disappointing.

What a gorgeous treatment! I was lucky to find this hotel thanks to a friend who traveled to Shanghai before me. I trusted her recommendation, and it was really good! Staying at MO is so relaxing, and you receive excellent treatment. My room faced the river, (which I highly recommend) having that view is truly a once lifetime experience. The staff are very professional and always ready to help. Lastly, I want to say a special thank you to Mr. Luigi. Sadly, I couldn’t say goodbye in person, but I want to express my gratitude here for his kindness!

*5/5 stars* I'm so impressed with our stay at the Mandarin Oriental! After a disappointment stay at our favourite hotel chain in Shanghai city centre. We checked in today, and I wish we had more days to spend here. As Super Elite members, we've stayed at a few luxury hotels in hongkong , Philippines, Shenzhen and in Shanghai but this one exceeded our expectations in every way for my young family. The service was exceptional, with the front desk staff and concierge speaking great English and going above and beyond to make our stay special. The attention to detail was impressive, especially when it came to our little ones. The staff provided them with small indoor slippers and towels, making them feel like princes and princesses. The hotel's family-friendly atmosphere was palpable, and we felt right at home. We're already planning our next stay, and the Mandarin Oriental is top of our list. If you're looking for a luxurious and welcoming hotel, look no further. *Highlights:* - Exceptional service from the front desk and concierge team - Family-friendly atmosphere and amenities - Thoughtful touches for our kids made our stay special Can't wait to come back! We'll definitely be back, and next time, we are back in Shanghai and we'll make sure to stay for more than just a few nights.

We had an absolutely wonderful stay at the Mandarin Oriental Shanghai for our girls’ trip, booked through the Mandarin Oriental Fan Club program. From the moment we arrived, everything felt seamless and special. Our room was beautifully appointed with an incredible view of the Pearl Tower – a highlight of our trip. Booking through the Fan program made it even more memorable, with thoughtful touches and benefits that really enhanced the experience. The Club Lounge was outstanding – elegant, quiet, and with excellent food and drinks throughout the day. The staff went above and beyond to make us feel comfortable and welcome, always friendly and attentive without being intrusive. Overall, every detail was perfect – from the check-in experience to the housekeeping and the service in the lounge. This was truly one of the best hotel experiences we’ve had in Shanghai, and we would not hesitate to return.

The Mandarin Oriental Shanghai – Pudong enjoys a prime location with stunning views over the Huangpu River. The setting is ideal for both business and leisure travelers who want to be close to the city’s vibrant heart while enjoying a peaceful and scenic environment. The rooms are exceptionally well-designed — modern, stylish, and furnished with high-quality materials that create a luxurious yet welcoming atmosphere. Every detail, from the lighting to the layout, reflects thoughtful design and comfort. Breakfast is generous and offers a wide variety of international and local options. There’s something to suit every taste. However, due to the number of guests, the breakfast area can get quite busy and a bit noisy during peak times. Service throughout the hotel is excellent. The staff is professional, friendly, and consistently attentive. That said, English proficiency at the front desk could be improved slightly to better meet the expectations of international guests. All in all, this Mandarin Oriental Pudong is a top-tier city hotel that combines comfort, design, and high-level service in a prime location. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would happily return on our next trip to Shanghai.

Exceptional service and flawless rooms. The hotel is very well staffed, and every team member we met was polite, professional, and cheerful. Everyone greeted us with a smile and went out of their way to assist wherever possible. Breakfast offered a wide variety of selections, as you’d expect from a top-tier hotel. But what truly stood out was the service. My child loves xiao long bao and the chef kindly prepared xiao long bao specially for my child, even though it wasn’t on the buffet spread. The staff were attentive, quick to clear plates, and observant of guests’ needs throughout. Our room was spotless, modern, and in excellent condition. Everything just worked perfectly. Housekeeping was meticulous, and the common areas were equally well maintained. The only minor improvement needed might be the jacuzzi area. Overall, this is a superb luxury hotel with impeccable service and attention to detail. While it may not have the wow factors of Shanghai’s newer properties or the old world charm of the heritage hotels, it delivers genuine comfort and world class hospitality. At this price point, it might just be the cheapest Mandarin Oriental.

All the details at the Mandarin Oriental Shanghai was simply beautiful. The room was spacious, featuring a stunning round bathtub — elegant and relaxing. and the hotel’s services and facilities were equally impressive, also for the concierge they were very helpful. Additionally, guests can request a bidet spray in the bathroom, which is highly appreciated for us as Arab travelers. We experienced a minor issue during our stay, but it was resolved promptly and efficiently by Mr. Luigi Savarese. His swift and professional response left a lasting impression, and because of this outstanding service, we now consider the Mandarin Oriental our top choice whenever visiting Shanghai. A heartfelt thank you to him for making our stay even more enjoyable.

This was our second stay at a Mandarin Oriental, and it fully met our expectations. This property has a more business-oriented feel and is slightly smaller than some of the brand’s other hotels, given its central location. Nevertheless, we had a fantastic stay, with excellent service and a lovely hotel bar to unwind in. The rooms were spacious, and ours offered a beautiful view of the water, the Bund, and the iconic Shanghai Pearl Tower. The location is also very convenient — most places can be reached within a 10-minute taxi ride.

Exceptional Service at Mandarin Oriental Pudong Stayed in the Club Mandarin River View Room (2003) and had a wonderful experience. The room was clean, spacious, and well-appointed. While the common pool changing room feels a bit aged, everything remains functional and well-kept. What truly sets this hotel apart is its exceptional staff. Leo made check-in smooth and welcoming, and the Club Lounge team — Jo, Yolanda, Oven and others — were consistently attentive and warm. The spa staff, especially Newman and Kyra, also delivered outstanding service. Overall, a polished and relaxing stay with top-notch hospitality. Highly recommended for anyone seeking a serene riverside escape in Shanghai.

This luxurious urban resort sits on the bank of Huangpu River, giving guests a sense of serene relaxation even in the vibrant heart of Shanghai. Rooms come in 16 categories, with comfortable living areas and complimentary WiFi. There is also a rooftop bar and a 3-floor spa. Relaxation can be had in one of three pools or at the yoga studio.
Absolutely loved my stay at Banyan Tree Shanghai 🌟 The spacious room, the stunning river view, and the relaxing bath with a city skyline made it unforgettable. Special thanks to Vicky at the front desk for the warm and professional service. You truly made the experience even better 💙

Wanted to book at the rooftop bar in advance. Reached out to multiple people via email and zero chance. One guy apparently manager responded " sure no worries " twice and thats about it. For such a brand the customer service is ultra disappointing !!!! As much as I was looking forward to come here, I rather pick a place where I get a proper response and confirmation.

Perched gracefully on the banks of the Huangpu River, Banyan Tree Shanghai is a sanctuary of calm amid the city’s dazzling energy. The design blends contemporary luxury with subtle Asian sensuality—soft lighting, natural textures, and the scent of essential oils that whisper serenity. The rooms offer cinematic skyline views that shift from golden afternoon to a hypnotic night glow. Dining here captures both refinement and restraint, especially at the signature spa restaurant where wellness and flavor meet in harmony. Whether soaking in the rooftop pool or watching the riverboats drift by, time at Banyan Tree feels beautifully suspended.

Beautiful rooms and superb breakfast. We will choose this property over others in Shanghai. The rooms were spacious and beautifully designed, a tasteful blend of modern Chinese elements and Banyan Tree’s signature resort style. The large bathtub and picture perfect view of the Shanghai Pudong skyline made the stay feel truly luxurious. However, the rooms are starting to show minor signs of age and could use some maintenance. Service, unfortunately, fell short of the warm hospitality we had experienced from Banyan Tree properties in Southeast Asia. While the managers we met were friendly and professional, the rest of the staff seemed disengaged when unsupervised, which left the overall service experience feeling a bit cold. Breakfast was excellent, classic Banyan Tree quality. The spread was extensive, with corners after corners to discover. And it came with complimentary Brut, just like many of their resorts elsewhere. Seating was limited, perhaps because guests tended to linger unintentionally, but Banyan Tree smartly compensates with extended breakfast hours. We actually found the room design and breakfast experience better than another Forbes 5 star hotel we stayed at in Shanghai, which is justifiable for the higher rate. This Banyan Tree property is hitting above its category in the crowded Shanghai hospitality space. Overall a memorable stay!

Booked a suite with a pool. The check-in time was 3pm, but the room was not ready by 5. When I got in, there was a foul smell in the shower and parts of the floor would sink in when stepping on it. Took almost an hour to get a supervisor to talk to. They offered to cancel the reservation and refund it. Never offered an alternative room or other kind of support. Never got a cancellation confirmation and so far no refund for the stay. I then moved to Alila hotel, which only had a room with two twin beds left — but then upgraded me to a suite after hearing about this experience. If they fix the flooring, note also that the room is really warm because of the pool water. There’s also noise from the jets that can’t be turned off (or maybe the switch was broken). The water doesn’t drain, so no foam can be added (1,500 RMB fee if you do). Bring a shower cap if you want to go to the main pool: there isn’t one in the room and you have to buy it from the spa. Also, the toiletry bag is 200 RMB. There’s even a charge for the bottled water.

View was amazing but the rooms need maintenance. Service was very good but they are also kinda weird in the sense of watching us foreigners in an uncomfortable way. This is just my personal opinion. Also the locals there were a bit too much to me in the way how they acted or feeling themselves. Maybe it's cultural or I just didn't get it. For me it was a normal stay nothing fancy about it.

Fantastic hotel stay for 1 night. We arrived late in the night. Koen was very helpful to ensure that we got our meal delivered to our room. The room was great overseeing huangpu river and pearl tower. Only downside is the location as it is away from the tourist attraction. A good hotel stay if you just want to rest and relax and 15 mins away from shopping outlet.

We stayed at this hotel for 6 nights and had an excellent time. All staff were very attentive and polite and met our requests. Breakfast was excellent and my wife enjoyed the spa. Great location. Special thanks to Angela who spoke perfect English for attending to us throughout our stay and providing excellent service.

Incredible hotel with incredible service and beautiful views of Jing-an. Definitely one of my go to hotels in the area, close to the HKTR mall and the Starbucks reserve as well as nanjing xilu and the metro line. Great location, great rooms and amazing friendly service.

Stayed here twice already, this time I came with my mother and she was equally impressed. The staff was so kind and accommodating, thank you so much!! 🙏🏼 The rooms are spacious, clean and comfortable.

Flop Hotel. Unfortunately not the Spirit and service level as the Original in Bangkok. Nice rooms for a high price, without breakfast (extra fee). As Diamond Member you do not get extra benefits (e.g. discount on SPA treatments). The employees are stressed and communication in English rarely possible. Its was a waste of time and money to book here.

Beautiful hotel that is centrally located and with all amenities. One star off because it was not possible to get freshly squeezed juice or a large tea selection with an individual tea pot at breakfast, which is pretty standard at this level of service
B M — Google review
It's a decent room, but honestly for 250 a night, this is nothing at all like sukthothai in Bangkok. The pool is even indoors. Location is awkward backside of the mall, it's not really a 5 star in my opinion. It's def not good value for Shanghai. It's not a knock on the hotel, it's just hkri run so it charges a premium for the location. Overall footprint of the hotel is actually very small for a typical 5 star.

Nestled in the vibrant heart of Shanghai, The St. Regis on the Bund offers an unparalleled experience with breathtaking views of the iconic Bund, Huangpu River, and Pudong skyline. This luxurious hotel combines opulence with cutting-edge amenities, ensuring a memorable stay for every guest. Upon arrival, visitors are greeted with smooth check-in processes and attentive butler service that adds a personal touch to their experience.
Very nice hotel.. Def a 5 star.. The staff at front desk Joe welcomed us with very clear English. Without him I think this trip would not be this wonderful as my Chinese isn't so good. Thank you Joe for taking care of us. And who ever his manager is give him props!

I'd give it a 5* if not a crazy check-in experience. Our suite supposed to be ready at 3pm as default, we arrived at 5pm and needed to wait for another 1.5-2hrs. It messed up our work calls schedule and birthday preparations a lot. To be fare to the hotel, they did their best to compensate the inconvenience, free dinner and some free perks. So after very stressful start everything else was smooth. Astor Suite is beautiful! Just be careful that there's 2 different types of interior. And most pictures on the booking platforms will show mixed pictures. Shanghai style comes with a round bathtub and the other with an elegant claw foot bathtub. Also I should say that I'd expect a better level of English for a front desk staff. They also didn't do much introduction to the hotel (for example, I found out about their signature champagne ritual by accident). To summarize, I really enjoyed the suite and stay overall, but check-in experience definitely has to be improved.

Exquisite and Highly recommend. Amazing location and top notch services Tried a couple of Marriott hotels in Shanghai, however nothing compares to St Regis in-terms of location, view, and room design. Special thanks to Rylie Ren from guest services and Frieda from butler services for going above and beyond to make our stay very special ♥️

From the moment I stepped into the lobby, I knew this stay would be special. The iconic St. Regis signature scent fills the air, creating an immediate sense of luxury and calm. The service is truly on another level—attentive, anticipatory, and flawless without being intrusive. The room was a dream. The bed and pillows were a highlight: incredibly soft yet providing perfect, firm support that was great for my back. Waking up feeling refreshed was a treat. And then there's the view! Waking up to a breathtaking panorama of The Bund's famous landmarks from our window was absolutely unforgettable. This isn't just a hotel; it's an experience. Worth every penny.

A New Icon on The Bund The St. Regis on the Bund is not just a new hotel; it is a landmark debut that instantly redefines luxury on the Shanghai waterfront. From the moment you step into the grand, Art Deco-inspired lobby, you are transported into a world of timeless opulence. I had the privilege of staying in the Shanghai Caroline Astor Suite, and it was an experience in itself. The 118sqm space is a masterpiece of design, featuring soaring ceilings, multiple chandeliers, and a stunning circular soaking tub that acts as a centerpiece for the breathtaking panoramic views of the Huangpu River and The Bund. Waking up to the sunrise over the river and watching the historic buildings illuminate at dusk from my window were pure magic. The legendary St. Regis Butler Service is the hotel's crown jewel. The butlers provided unparalleled, anticipatory care that felt both personalized and effortless, attending to every detail with discreet precision. Beyond the incredible suite, the hotel feels like a serene art gallery, with 72 original works integrated throughout the property. The calming indoor pool and well-equipped gym with park views offer peaceful respites from the city's energy. The location is, of course, perfection for exploring the historic Bund and its surroundings. This hotel masterfully blends the storied glamour of its location with thrilling modern luxury. An absolutely magnificent stay from start to finish.

The Radisson Blu Hotel Shanghai New World is a cosmopolitan hotel offering stylish rooms and suites, along with a revolving restaurant, pool, and city views. Guests can enjoy a great variety for breakfast and delicious dishes at the revolving restaurant, as well as good dining options nearby. The hotel's location near a metro station, shopping center, Nanjing Road, and People's Square makes it perfectly situated for exploring the city.
From the moment we arrived, our stay was nothing short of incredible. We were warmly welcomed by Judy at the front desk, who was not only professional but truly lovely — she made us feel right at home. Judy went above and beyond to upgrade our stay and even arranged for us to attend a fantastic jazz show, where we had an amazing view of the Shanghai skyline. A truly unforgettable evening! She even recommended a nail shop for us ! The service throughout the hotel was consistently top-tier. The doormen were always friendly and helpful, greeting us with a smile each time we came and went. Housekeeping kept our room spotless every day, with great attention to detail, and all the staff interactions felt genuine and caring . The location is perfect for exploring the city, and the food was equally impressive. From breakfast to dinner, every meal was delicious, fresh, and beautifully presented. The entertainment options were a great touch, and we loved how everything was so well-organized and thoughtfully arranged. Overall, this was one of the best hotel experiences we’ve ever had. A huge thank you to Judy and the entire team for making our stay so special. We will absolutely be back and recommend this place to anyone visiting Shanghai!

I'm absolutely thrilled with my recent stay at Radisson Blu Hotel Shanghai New World! From the moment I arrived, the staff went above and beyond to make me feel at home. The check-in process was seamless, and my room was spacious, clean and comfortable, with a stunning view of the city that made every morning a treat. One of the standout features of this hotel is its incredible location, it's perfectly positioned to explore all the local attractions, restaurants, and shops. It was within walking distance to Nanjing street the most iconic shopping street in Shanghai. The hotel's amenities were fantastic - the fitness center was well-equipped, the breakfast buffet was delicious and had plenty of options. What really impressed me, though, was the attention to detail and genuine warmth of the staff. They were always happy to help with anything I needed, and their insider knowledge of the city was invaluable. Overall, I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a stay with a great location, excellent service, and comfortable accommodations. It's the perfect base for exploring the city and making unforgettable memories.

Fantastic hotel in the center of Shanghai close to shopping malls and museums. Also near to the metro station People Square. It is a remarkable building in the city We stayed here for a short holiday and we enjoyed this hotel very much. The hotel rooms are large, well prepared and clean. Great and friendly service from the hotel staff! There is a very nice swimming pool, sauna and gym available. This is one of our top favourite hotels in our travel history! We will return!

Lovely room and bathroom, with amazing view of the bund etc and love that you could open window. staff were good. Breakfast was great however they make you scan your room key like children which causes a queue which is annoying so loses a point for that. Plus the pool is bright and feels like a community centre rather than relaxing pool and spa. It’s open until 11pm though which is great!

Great location! This was exactly why we chose this hotel and it was the right choice! Amazing hotel stuff, especially Martin: all our demands were answered, he was so patient and nice to us, like we were his dear relatives😊 Martin managed to find my reward card number that was lost long ago. Great to be a member of Radisson family again☺️ The bed for our teenage daughter was provided free of charge, which is highly appreciated! Thank you! Definitely recommend and would stay here again

The hotel rooms were spacious, clean but a little bit outdated. The services offered in the hotel, especially gym and swimming pool, were efficient and made the stay feel effortless and relaxing. Additionally thanks to Piotr’s attentive service in the business longue, I felt truly valued throughout my time there.

Booked 2 junior suite but the initial experience on providing rooms on the 6th floor that is more of a dump rather than a suite. After failing to get any sleep on the first night, Paul (duty manager?) and Jack (21st floor housekeeping) managed to save the situation by providing appropriate rooms that make the stay more pleasant. Both of them are an asset to the hotel.

Pudong Shangri-La is a high-rise hotel in Shanghai that offers elegant rooms with stunning views and features seven restaurants as well as a stylish spa. YISEA, one of the hotel's dining venues, serves top-notch Japanese cuisine in a refined setting. The restaurant impresses guests with its kaiseki-inspired teppanyaki dishes, including a sukiyaki course featuring premium M9 wagyu cuts.
One of the most enchanting hotel experiences I’ve ever had. From the moment I arrived at Pudong Shangri-La, I was welcomed with elegance and warmth. The view of The Bund from my room was simply breathtaking — a perfect blend of old Shanghai charm and modern skyline beauty. The service was world-class, every staff member went above and beyond to ensure my stay was perfect. The breakfast buffet at Yi Café was a highlight — so many global flavors, all fresh and beautifully presented. After a day of exploring the city, returning to the calm serenity of the hotel felt like coming home. If you’re visiting Shanghai and looking for a place that captures both luxury and soul — this is it. I would return again and again without hesitation.

I would give Shangri-La Pudong, Shanghai a 4-star rating. The overall stay was good, but there are a few areas that can be improved. The towels could be cleaner, as some had light stains. However, the food was delicious—especially the in-room dining options. Though a bit pricey (around 1,000 SGD for five days), we understand that hotel food often comes with higher prices, so that's expected and not a major complaint. One thing to note is the waiting time for in-room dining—it can take between 45 minutes to an hour, so a little more speed in service would be appreciated. I would like to highlight the room cleaner—she was very kind and truly hardworking. She made sure our room was always clean and comfortable, and her dedication didn’t go unnoticed. Overall, we had a pleasant stay. With a few improvements, this hotel could easily earn a perfect 5 stars. Thank you, Shangri-La Pudong, for the warm hospitality.

This hotel can easily be counted among the Top 5 hotels in Shanghai in terms of location. It’s the Shangri-La Hotel — the one you always see when looking across the Bund towards the Pudong skyline. The location is outstanding. Just across the street is the massive IFC Mall, which houses nearly every luxury brand you can imagine. The mall is directly connected to Line 2 of the metro, making it very convenient to get anywhere in the city. The rooms are spacious, comfortable, and decorated in a classic style, which made my stay very pleasant. The view from the room was absolutely stunning and unforgettable. On the downside, most of the staff had difficulty communicating in English. Only a few were able to speak English, so conversations were sometimes challenging. Also, the food at the first-floor lobby lounge was not very good. Still, thanks to the unbeatable location and the incredible view, I would definitely consider staying here again on my next visit to Shanghai. Overall, a very satisfying hotel experience.

Pudong Shangri-La Hotel, also known as The Pudong Shangri-La Circle ( because it is near the well known Circle ) has two separate buildings - the Grand Tower & the River Wing. I stayed in room 3456 of the Grand Tower from 2 - 5 Sept 2025 ( a King Skyline room ) The views on the skyline was spectacular. The hotel is several years old, but it is nevertheless a luxury hotel. From the number of visitors it was clear to me that it is a popular hotel. The service from the front desk, housekeeping and the staff in the breakfast room was excellent although most of the staff cannot speak English. ( make use of a translator app on your phone 😉 ) Furthermore, the hotel is walking distance from several shopping malls, the Shanghai Tower, the Oriental Pearl radio and TV Tower and the Huangpu river. A metro station is also nearby. There is a large selection of Eastern & Western food available when enjoying the breakfast buffet. I RECOMMEND this hotel.

Regent Shanghai Pudong is a stunning hotel nestled in the heart of Shanghai's Lujiazui financial district, just a stone's throw from iconic landmarks like the Jin Mao Tower and Oriental Pearl TV Tower. Guests can enjoy luxurious accommodations with breathtaking views of the city skyline, complemented by amenities such as an infinity pool, spa center, and fitness facilities. The hotel's prime location makes it convenient for exploring nearby attractions like the upscale IFC Mall.
We stayed at the Regent Shanghai Pudong with our two children and had a truly fantastic experience. The food and beverage offerings, especially in the lounge, were outstanding and left nothing to be desired. The rooms were very spacious, of high quality, and offered a breathtaking view of the skyline. We also greatly enjoyed the pool and wellness facilities, as well as the convenient location right next to the metro station. One of the biggest highlights was the exceptionally friendly and attentive staff. You can really feel that the hotel is very well managed, and we especially appreciated the visible presence of the General Manager. We would wholeheartedly recommend this hotel and would not hesitate to stay here again at any time.

Our stay at the Regent Hotel Pudong was truly unforgettable — and that’s mostly thanks to Max! He helped us with everything we needed during our stay on October 24th, from carrying our luggage to guiding us through anything we asked about. For tourists like us, it can be really hard to find your way around because almost everything is written in Chinese, but Max made everything so much easier. He was always kind, patient, and ready to help — nothing was ever too much for him. Because of Max alone, I would honestly book this hotel 100 times over. He gives the kind of service that goes far beyond what you normally expect, and that’s exactly what makes this hotel stand out from the rest. In the middle of all this, I also want to mention Rhea, who I believe is the concierge. She was incredibly sweet and helpful too, always making sure we had everything we needed. Together, Max and Rhea made us feel truly cared for. The view from our room was absolutely breathtaking — one of the best I’ve ever seen. And the hotel manager deserves a special mention too — such an attentive, caring person who clearly values both his staff and guests. It’s rare to see that level of kindness from management, and it makes a big difference. I’ve stayed at many hotels around the world, but this one stands out. The people here don’t just do their jobs — they genuinely care. Thanks to Max (and the amazing team around him), this was a five-star experience from start to finish.

We stayed at the Regent Shanghai Pudong and really enjoyed it. The hotel is clean and modern, located in the business district - away from the crowds but still close to everything. There are beautiful walks and views right outside, and the famous Lujiazui Riverside Park is just a 10-minute walk away. Our room on the 37th floor was comfortable with a great view. The hotel has both a spa pool and a regular pool; however, it’s mandatory to wear a swimming cap, which we didn’t have and had to buy. It seems to be a common rule in 5-star hotels across China - which is annoying. Breakfast was decent, though coffee options were limited. They only make cappuccino that somehow required four staff members to operate the coffee machine. The buffet itself is small but pleasant for a few days. We also appreciated the complimentary afternoon snacks. The views from the restaurant are stunning - a beautiful urban skyline.

Beautiful hotel conveniently located on Metro line 2 (between Lujiazui and Pudong South Road stations, easily walkable from both), it's close to the Pearl Tower and the Shanghai Aquarium. We were upgraded to a suite with my plat status and the room on the 31st floor had gorgeous views, a smart Toto toilet, and an amazingly comfortable bed. They had a rollaway crib for my 19-months old baby (it's a Graco pack and play). However, what prompted me to write this review was the outstanding service of everyone I interacted with. I forgot my baby's stuffed kitty (it rolled under the bed and I didn't notice until we were on the plane back to the US!) and I immediately contacted the hotel who responded quickly the housekeeping team has already found the toy and was keeping it safely in storage. What followed was many back and forth emails to figure out how to get the toy back to the US and I always received clear and quick communications with the managerial team (Evelyn Li, Taya Zhang, and Daniel Su). I cannot thank them enough for everything and I will surely return in the future and wholeheartedly recommend the hotel to others!!

As IHG Diamond member, have been stayed several Regent hotels worldwide. Personally I would say this hotel does not meet the Regent standard. There are many things you feel the hotel is trying to cut the cost, ultimately limiting the guest experiences from Regent brand. Positive: 1. Nice room and good view. 2. Most of the staffs are friendly. 3. Good location and pool is amazing. Negative: 1. Very disappointing experiences at Regent club lounge. limited food choice with some low quality food which you cannot expect to see in the Regent. 2. Some staffs at club lounge and at breakfast do not how to serve the customer. Clearly did not get enough training. 3. No fresh juicy, no any unique or high quality food for breakfast. Even holiday inn Jing’an hotel has better breakfast than here. 4. Many details let you don’t feel any luxury experiences here.

Shanghai the Bund W Hotels is a pet-friendly option in Shanghai, China that provides facilities for dogs and cats including scratch poles, treats, and litter trays. Some properties allow pets to stay for free. The hotel features indoor and outdoor pools with a deck offering stunning views of the Shanghai skyline. Guests can enjoy sunbeds, snacks, and a poolside bar during warmer months. Additionally, visitors can savor an exceptional breakfast with fresh juices and greens served outdoors overlooking the Bund.
What can I say… the "W" in W Hotel definitely stands for "WOW"! Everything was flawless from the moment I arrived. The staff at the lobby, reception, breakfast area, and gym were all incredibly professional, welcoming, and attentive to every detail. The breakfast was extensive and high-quality, offering both international and local options—something for every palate, served in a stylish and relaxing atmosphere. The gym is well-equipped with everything you need for a complete workout. Both cold and room-temperature water are available, and even the towels can be provided chilled—a luxurious touch. I had originally booked a Fabulous room with a view of the Pearl Tower, but upon check-in I was upgraded to the hotel’s top suite, featuring a jacuzzi with a breathtaking view of the Bund. Simply stunning. The curtains open automatically with the touch of a button, revealing an incredible panorama right from the bed—straight out of a movie. A truly perfect stay in every way. Highly recommended for anyone looking for luxury, comfort, and top-tier service in Shanghai. I’ll definitely be back!

I am having an absolutely exceptional stay at W Hotel. The service here is truly on another level. The team went above and beyond in every way – from helping me accept multiple deliveries and promptly sending them up to my room, to anticipating my needs before I even had to make a request. Their attention to detail and genuine care made my stay not only convenient but also incredibly memorable. It’s rare to experience such thoughtful and proactive service, and the staff at W Hotel exceeded all expectations. They made everything feel effortless, and I genuinely felt well taken care of throughout my stay. Highly recommend this hotel for anyone looking for not just luxury, but also truly outstanding hospitality. *thanks too for arranging the welcome dessert and balloons for my sister’s grad!

It’s rare for me to leave a review for any Bonvoy hotels but I must say this was such an amazing experience that I can’t walk away without acknowledging the fantastic hospitality provided by the W team in Shanghai. The check in process was super smooth and the staff was cordial in providing me with a complimentary upgrade to a higher floor and a nicer view of the Bund. I wasn’t sure what to expect but the moment I walked to my room, my jaws dropped. What an absolutely stunning view. The fitness area was incredible, some of the most advanced exercise machines. I also enjoyed swimming in the outdoor pool and used the sauna spa facility. They take great care of the environment. Since there’s no executive lounge, they offer happy hour drinks which is between 6pm to 8pm, offering cocktails and various drinks at no charge to the Bonvoy members with Elite status. Breakfast selections were vast and delicious, covering from Western, European to authentic Chinese food. The entire team from the staff in the downstairs lobby by the front door to the folks working across different departments (Gym/Pool, bar, restaurant) they all showed great level of enthusiasm in providing the highest quality of service. Most specifically, I’d like to acknowledge Claire for all her help and support, from recommending the best bars and restaurants to addressing any particular questions or concerns the guest may have. The management is very lucky to have her on their team. I can’t wait to return to Shanghai again as I’m even more excited about my next stay at this amazing hotel.

We had an amazing stay at W Shanghai on the Bund! From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel truly welcome with their warm hospitality and attention to detail. The room was spacious, stylish, and offered stunning views of the Shanghai skyline — exactly what you’d expect from a W property. Service throughout our stay was impeccable — every request was handled promptly and with a smile. The breakfast spread was exceptional, with a wide variety of international and local options, all beautifully presented. The location right on the Bund is unbeatable, perfect for exploring both the historic and modern sides of Shanghai. The pool and spa facilities were also top-notch, making it easy to unwind after a busy day. Overall, W Shanghai exceeded expectations in every way — luxurious, energetic, and service-oriented. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a memorable stay in the city!

Absolutely loved our stay here, the view from our room was amazing. The whole staff is extremely helpful from the moment you arrive till the day you check out, the small details really made our stay memorable, there is someone always near to help you with anything that you need. The area is great near tons of shopping, restaurants, coffee shops, north bund park. Area is safe , clean, absolutely worth the price. Rooms are very modern and you have everything you could possibly need. The breakfast was also great lots of variety and they do change it up everyday. Highly recommend this hotel. Loved the birthday treat they left in my room too !

I would like to say the trip usually doesn't go wrong when you stay in a W hotel. Decided to stay 2 nights here and would say was impressed by quite a lot of things big and small. Arrived early in the morning which was not time for check in at 9am. Got to know they have upgraded me and the room wasn't available yet, but they provided me with a temporary room for me to rest and do some work before the room was ready, and informed me they would let me know when the room was ready. Spent some time in the room resting and out for lunch. After lunch room was ready and got transferred to another room which had a great view of the Bund. Went out exploring some of the facilities in the hotel, the gym, pools, sauna and bars. In the late afternoon the staff came and brought some complimentary snacks as well. The staff here are all very well mannered and informative. Had experience with a few and it was pleasant. There's a popcorn machine near the check in counter where there would be stuff making popcorn and handling out to guests. Impressed with the facilities, but the best of all is always their breakfast. One thing to note is W breakfast is always fabulous and never disappoint. It's so good it makes you want to go rounds. It's not exactly by the Bund but near it and next to hotel is a mall with a metro station so location is good and its accessible. Some of the places are reachable by bus and there are a few bus stops which are within 5 minutes walking distance from the hotel. Awesome and highly recommended.

When I entered my room on one of the top floors, I was struck by the incredible view — a curved window framing the skyline in every direction. Unfortunately, the previous guest had left a lingering odor. I mentioned it to the front desk, and within minutes the manager personally came up, moved my luggage, and upgraded me without hesitation. Exactly as an establishment of this calibre should. Bold, bright, and remarkably well-run. The skyline views alone are worth the stay.

Recently stayed at the hotel for 3 nights… great rooms, great location, great breakfast… but the most impressive was their service. Jesse was amazing. He was the most helpful hotel concierge I have ever met - and I have stayed in over a hundred hotels in my life.

Located in the heart of Shanghai's Pudong district, JW Marriott Marquis Pudong offers sleek and luxurious accommodations. The hotel features four restaurants, including the sophisticated Merchant Kitchen, which offers a superbly crafted menu with dishes like lobster, shrimp, crab, salmon, steak, lamb, and duck. Guests can also enjoy a rooftop bar with stunning river views and amenities such as an indoor pool.
Attentive, cordial and professional staff from the concierge to the front desk through to the F&B staff. Particularly liked how housekeeping rolled up my charger cables daily, the littlest attention to service makes a difference. My room 1812 came with a wonderful view, the room is spacious, clean and comfy. Nice walk paths outside the hotel. Breakfast spread was great, delicious and well reflect the local delicacies. A wonderful experience, wish other hotels emulate such experience.

Our 2nd time staying at this property. This is a fairly new property compared to other Marriott in Shanghai. Room is spacious and clean. The river view from our room is spectacular! Service is top notch! From the check-in staff to the attention to detailed house-keeping staffs. I have to commend the team at the executive lounge, especially Mark on his welcoming and attentive service and willingness to go the extra mile. Rated 3/5 for location as it is not located near any train station within walking distance and to go out will require getting a didi (grab), which it is easy via the app and not expensive. There are a couple of malls about 10mins ride away.

Since it’s located in Pudong, suitable for business trip rather than family tour. It’s relatively new and clean, and the view of the Huangpu River makes me feel good. The room cleaning was perfect, and especially the messy cosmetics and clothes were organized very neatly. I often visit Shanghai for business trip, and it is the hotel with the best facilities and services among the hotels I have stayed.

It was a decent hotel. Breakfast was extensive. Ate in the Flint steakhouse a few times, however after my Shanghai trip, I felt unwell from something I ate. Staff were friendly and nice. Note: if you want to walk, there are no established sidewalks to hotel.
Jean Y — Google review
It’s only been day one staying in the hotel, fairly new amenities and very convenient location. Room is very spacious with great view. However, the pool is mediocre, no towels in the changing room, and no gender neutral family changing room either. Staff is not familiar with procedures and going back and forth with a room purchase, there could be some improvements there.

Stellar stay at the JW Marriot, Shanghai. Hotel is modern, spotless and well maintained. Spacious rooms, comfy beds, modern and thoughtful interior decor & amenities and a stunning river view. Service, across all areas - bell staff, check-in, concierge and at the restaurants - were professional, friendly and very efficient. The hotels use of a delivery robot to deliver an electric adaptor/plug I had requested, was quite space age and unique. The fitness centre was well equipped and featured an indoor heated swimming pool, an aerobics centre and sauna/steam facilities. Outside the hotel, I enjoyed my morning run on the scenic cycling/running path that runs alongside the river front. Breakfast was a highlight, with a wide variety of stations catering to different tastes. The machine that squeezed out fresh orange juice on the spot and directly into your glass (no canned/artificial juice here) was a standout for me. Overall top-notch experience.
Khuresh F — Google review
I stayed in a corner suite on the 39th floor, offering stunning views of the Bund and the river. The hotel itself was beautiful, and the Jacuzzi tub by the window allowed for a breathtaking skyline view. The room was spacious, the bed was incredibly comfortable, and I was pleasantly surprised by the high-quality amenities, including a Dyson-style hairdryer. The only challenge I faced was figuring out the buttons to open the window shades in the morning. Breakfast was served in a lovely space, though it was consistently busy. Despite the crowd, the variety of food—ranging from Chinese to Western options—was a highlight. Guests with Platinum Elite status also have access to the executive lounge. The hotel’s location is perfect for outdoor enthusiasts, with walking, running, and cycling tracks right at its doorstep. I spent my weekend strolling through the beautiful riverside park and truly enjoyed the experience. Although the laundry service was pricey, the fast turnaround over the weekend made it worthwhile. The service was excellent, and I would absolutely stay here again on my next visit to Shanghai.

Mold everywhere! During this stay, the check-in and communication process took more than two hours, which already caused significant inconvenience. Unfortunately, the issues did not end there. After entering the room, there was a strong and unpleasant mold odor. Despite spending another two hours attempting to resolve the problem with the hotel staff, the issue remained unresolved. This experience was far below the standards I have come to expect from Marriott, and it negatively impacted the quality and comfort of the stay. I suggest anyone to avoid this property.

The Grand Central Hotel Shanghai offers modern and elegant accommodations, including rooms and suites with luxurious amenities such as Jacuzzis, saunas, and private gardens. The hotel features two restaurants, a bar, an indoor pool, a gym, and a dedicated hair salon. Its central location makes it ideal for sightseeing and shopping in Shanghai, with popular attractions like the Bund and Yu Garden within walking distance. Additionally, the hotel is conveniently located near metro stations and taxi services.
Have been staying in this hotel for multiple times in the last 3 years. The rooms are spacious, big bathroom with bathtub and shower room. The hotel is indeed old and the styling is also like the 90s but everything is clean. The staff are great, courteous. The house keeping ladies are very efficient and keeps the room neat and tidy, full credit to the house keeping team. Another aspect what I like the most is the concierge team lead by Andy. Andy and his team always helped me with the package receiving from Taobao and always mitigated any wrong deliveries etc. Big shout out to Andy and team for being always helpful and making my stay much more stress free.

Nice hotel rooms. Staff are friendly and helpful. Breakfast was boring for 4 days it's almost the same dishes. Location next to nanjing road. We stay at executive room so we could have access to the hotel lounge for afternoon tea time. Overall we enjoyed our 4 days stay at here
Linda L — Google review
Best about this hotel is its location. Nanjing Road is very close, including shops and restaurants, subway is just around the corner. Rooms are styled like a grand hotel, but still modern and clean with enough space. Service is not really friendly or customer oriented like you'd expect from such a hotel.
S S — Google review
The hotel is in a good location and overall fine for a short stay, but a few things could be improved. There’s no air conditioning during the winter season, which makes the room quite warm and uncomfortable. The shower water temperature is also difficult to adjust, and it takes a long time to get the right mix. Staff were polite, but the facilities need better maintenance.
Jasem A — Google review
The lounge staff, Sunny and Queenie, provided outstanding service and genuinely went above and beyond. Sunny handled our check‑in, followed up with management about a stained towel and room attendant, and even helped plan local outings and recommend places to eat. Queenie helped resolve a delivery issue with my lost Taobao parcel, using her account to have it resent to the hotel. These two ladies made us feel at home and were the highlight of our stay. Unfortunately, the hotel’s central air‑conditioning policy caused a major problem. On the third night our room became very hot and stuffy. A technician told us the AC couldn’t be turned on because it’s centrally controlled and other guests might be too cold, and suggested opening the window and bringing two fans. I found this unacceptable — being made to suffer discomfort so other guests don’t is unfair. I expect a hotel to provide a comfortable room for the paying guest. Overall, if not for Sunny and Queenie I would have been much more dissatisfied. The staff deserve praise, but the hotel needs to review its air‑conditioning policy or provide practical solutions when a guest’s room is uncomfortably hot.

I had a pleasant stay at Grand Central Hotel Shanghai. The location is excellent — just a short walk to major shopping areas, which makes it very convenient for anyone who loves to explore the city or enjoy some retail therapy. The surroundings are vibrant and easily accessible. Overall, a great choice for travelers who want comfort with quick access to shopping centers

Very very great hotel with great location. Just cross the road and you will be arrived at Nanjing Road East. There is convenience store in front of the hotel. The room is modern and spacious. There is wardrobe that fit to large suitcase. Bathroom is also spacious. Shower room, bathtub and toilet are separate. And the very good news is they use Laifen for hairdryer 😍😍 Breakfast is so so according to my taste. But the variations are many. Will stay at this hotel again if i visit Shanghai next time

Do NOT recommend at all. Not worth the money at all. The room was extremely outdated and smelled musty. Wi-Fi was completely non-functional throughout the entire hotel. Staff members were not able to communicate in English and showed little willingness to help. Do not stay at this hotel. A complete waste of money.

Crowne Plaza Shanghai is a functional hotel located in a touristic area of Shanghai, close to Jing'an Temple Square. The venue offers airy rooms and various amenities such as an indoor pool, exercise room, spa area, and sauna. It is situated in the Changning district near the Jiao Tong University underground station. The hotel provides international level services and is strategically positioned near the metropolitan place and the Bund.
I'm presently in the hôtel CROWNE PLAZZA Shanghai. Room 904. And I can really advise you to come in this beautiful place. The staff is kind, available and professionnal. Prices are very very cost effective. I could say: Not Expensive when I see the offered quality here. I love this hôtel with a fitness gym room, a large swimming pool, spa and massage. The décoration is really fine and the self-service unlimited breakfast is just AMAZING ! Please, See photos. The bedroom is large with a huge king size bed. Toilets are perfect

It’s such a nice peaceful hotel. The check in and check out are fast and hassle free. The staff is also very helpful. There’s some restaurants and bars closeby. The only issue I have is the rooms being a bit outdated, but they are clean so it’s fine.
Poppy P — Google review
The staff are courteous and the breakfast offers a variety of Western and local foods, including continental dishes, fruits, dim sum, or noodles. It is a 10-minute walk from Jiao University Metro and SJTU, making it easy to access tourist attractions. If you are a fan of old cinema, this theme runs throughout the hotel, and you will see references to it around you.

The hotel is conveniently located on a street with shops and restaurants, and the city center is just a short ride away. However, the rooms were outdated and poorly maintained, with inadequate noise isolation that made it difficult to sleep. The bathroom was old and had a low ceiling, which added to the discomfort. While the breakfast was passable, the service left much to be desired. Overall, my stay was disappointing.

It was a pleasant stay – I stayed here for two weeks and had a wonderful experience. The location was beautiful, and the staff were kind, helpful, and very professional. Pros: 1. Excellent Location: Just a 500-meter walk from Jiao Tong University (Line 10/11) subway station, making it very convenient for getting around the city. 2. Plenty of Food Options Nearby: Including McDonald’s, Starbucks, Japanese cuisine, and more. 3. Close to Attractions: Located right next to the Shanghai Film Art Center. 4. 24/7 Convenience Stores: Several shops are available nearby, open around the clock. 5. Electric Bike Availability: Electric bikes are easily accessible just outside the hotel. 6. Taxi Services: Taxis are readily available – you can ask the reception or book via the WeChat or Didi app (recommended). 7. Wheelchair Accessible: The hotel is accessible and suitable for guests with mobility needs. Cons: 1. Limited Indian Breakfast Options: More variety for Indian cuisine at breakfast would be appreciated. 2. Distance from Pudong International Airport: Located about 40–50 km from the airport, the travel time can be around 1 to 1.5 hours depending on traffic.

An old 5 stars hotel with big room. I would rate 4.5 stars. Breakfast choice is not much for a international brand Hotel. Location is good. Near to malls and local street food. Good for those who visit Shanghai for the 1st time. For those plan to take web booking car or taxi. You need to have we chat. Most don't take cash. In the airport if someone approach you for car ride. never never take those car. You will get ripe off. Only trust those web booking car

Pretty old hotel, not located in a premium place , but pricing very reasonable compared to places near the Bund. Some staff are friendly. Breakfast rather mediocre and no variation every day, but then , no extra charge.

My one-month stay at Crowne Plaza Shanghai was generally positive. The cleaning staff was exceptionally friendly, and the amenities, including the gym and swimming pool, were very good. The breakfast options were diverse, but the menu remained the same every day. Just a heads up, not everyone at the front desk is fluent in English. Overall, this place is cool, but could use a bit of a modern touch-up.

Much closer to a 2 or 3 star hotel. The entire thing is outdated, the elegant style might work if the quality of everything was better. The room felt very dirty upon arrival. The chairs have so many scuffs and dirt marks and the walls are chipping away. The beds are extremely firm but not really in a good way. The tv is old and most channels don’t even work. The service is slow and very awkward. The food offered is extremely restricting in terms of time, the best dishes on the menu can only be ordered for a total of four hours in a day. One upside is that the water pressure is really good I suppose.

Both my husband and I had a wonderful stay at this hotel. The staff (I would like to mention some names here,( Isaac , Joe, Frank ) are very polite, helpful, friendly and attentive. The buffet spread was pretty impressive and good. Housekeeping was well done too. To get taxi was fairly easy especially the bellboys (Isaac and Joe) just waited willingly in the cold winds for them for us and other guests. We greatly appreciate the dedication from them. Thanks Hotel Equatorial Shanghai for making our stay pleasantly warming in China. I would recommend this hotel to friends and families anytime. Well done!! Keep up the very good hospitality of yours. Shine on.

Hated this hotel because of the location, actually pretty far from any walking streets or restaurants and every single taxi driver gets lost coming here. Impossible to get a cab. It’s very secluded Check in extremely slow. Bad service. Food in buffer was poor quality. No couches at all in the lobby while you’re waiting for a taxi. Should be two stars

The staff were very helpful during my stay. They called a taxi for me when my ride to the airport didn't show. The food was good, both Chinese and western was available. The lounge was a comfortable place to relax with my colleagues before turning in for the night. There were lots of sights to stroll around and see in the area and the subway was nearby.

Comfortable rooms with full amenities. Only stayed 2 nights. Shower can be tricky to use! Pull the ring down on the hose under the faucet to turn shower on. They almost need a sign. Easy access to temple metro station. Restaurants within walking distance. Super serious security and parking enforcement outside of hotel.

Wake up with a huge dead cockroach on the door side... Not nice experience. Front desk staff were nice and speaks good English, whereas the concierge are unwilling to help if you ask for a taxi. Difficult to get taxi in the morning as it is on a main road that is usually congested and thus unlikely to have empty taxi (need to wait for somebody to come to the hotel...). Room service food is so-so... Tried and then preferred to buy my breakfast next day at the Starbucks instead. Only good thing is that they have a convenient store nearby. Surely not goung back.

Nice hotel but cleaning staff needs to be more attentive to properly clean up the room such as including vacuuming the floor daily. They were also quite stingy with toiletries: hey it’s included in the daily room rate isn’t it? Also rooms are fast becoming dated and could soon be out of date as furnishings are getting old. Time for a renovation actually.

Good Service. Nice team and staff we got. Helping hands for foreigners with patience. Helped a lot in booking taxis and local commuting. Food is ok to have, not a premium what we got. It was a buffet dinner by the event organizers. So we are not able to tell exactly about the Hotel Buffet. Items were ok to have, servicing was not perfect. They were tired within 1.30 hrs after starting the event. The event closed about 2 hours earlier than expected. No big rush. Parking we got a safe one. Shopping complex is available, but like a Luxury one. Above premium, we all had a costly ice cream there.

Another typical Shangri La hotel, stayed here for a conference at the higher floors. Breathtaking panoramic view of Shanghai from the room, clean and spacious , lots of usb ports and even a bar. Access to executive lounge as well until 11pm. The large gym on 4th floor also has an amazing view, over a dozen treadmills facing the view. Not operating 24 hours thought. Breakfast buffet service was a little crowded but lots of local and international choices - even a nice Swiss Bircher museli. Typical Shangri La hospitality . Close to subway. Exclusivity lost. Be aware that the gym facilities are shared with non in-house hotel guest that is not able to speak English and rudely speaks with hotel guests similar to interaction with people on the streets. People on the streets might be even more polite. Horrible! Signages or notices should be placed on the use of facilities to prevent guests from disturbing each others. Hotel guests typically do not bother one another, however, because the facilities is shared with locals, in-house guests can expect some disturbance from ill-mannered, rude and non-English speaking guest. This totally ruined the 4-star shangri-la experience. In-house hotel guests should not be disturbed, in general. Used the gym facilities in the morning and received blaberring, scolding or lecturing by a rude local chinese lady (which I am guessing is not a hotel guest) in a rude tone that kept talking in chinese. Morning totally ruined from a hotel which supposed to host business travellers from around the world due to its proximity near sniec. There was no notice by the hotel that the facilities cannot be used by in-house hotel guest when local classes were held. The manager explained that the facilities can be used by in-house guests, however, would you still want to continue using the facilities after having an ill-mannered lady that goes around scolding hotel guest in Chinese.

Absolutely LOVED this hotel. The service was great, the staff were friendly and helpful, and we felt it was excellent value for the money. We had breakfast daily at the hotel (nice choice of Asian, Western foods), explored the city because the location is really good, and also used the gym and spa - both great. Will definitely come back. And will stay at Ritz when we go to Beijing, based on service here.

This is the second time my wife and I stayed at this hotel in this year. We love this hotel as it is located in the centre of Shanghai and it is so convenient to everywhere. Hotel building and facilities are well maintained and staff are friendly. Niko in the front office is so nice and he helped us to check in quickly. Instead of showing where the lifts are, he guided us to the lifts from front desk. He is so nice. Thank you

This is one of the best hotels for tourists in Shanghai. The location is wonderful, with a lot of shopping malls, restaurants walking path. The nearest metro station is 5 min walk. The metro has English sign everywhere. We took the help of the hotel staff to know the train line no, entry and exit gate no, travelling in metro was very easy. Our room on the 33rd floor had excellent view of the surroundings. The service is excellent, one of best in the world. Very polite and helpful staff everywhere. Breakfast was very nice, great for no-meat eaters. Very happy to stay at Portman Ritz-Carlton, would love to return to this hotel.

I highly recommend this hotel. The location at Nanjing West Road is ideal to start your city trip, the hotel room itself is spacious and clean. For breakfast you can have anything your heart and soul craves… 💖 All the staff are amazing and kind, service is immaculate. Right next to the hotel you can find a lot of different restaurants and a small supermarket that has a lot of imported food and drinks. I would stay there again if I could! 🥰

An incredible stay at a truly historic property, the first Ritz-Carlton in all of Asia! The recent renovations have brought a very chic and modern feel to the rooms. My room had a fantastic view of the city skyline and the Shanghai Conference Centre. The service was impeccable, especially at the Ritz-Carlton Club Lounge. The five daily food presentations were a culinary journey, and the added perks like complimentary pressing and the 2km private limousine service truly set the standard for luxury. Also had a wonderful evening at the Ritz Bar a really great vibe! The location is unbeatable for shopping and exploration, directly connected to a massive mall and a short walk to the Jing'an Temple metro station. The pool is a bit modest for the property's size, but the spacious gym and spa area with sauna and whirlpool are excellent. A minor note: the lobby vibe feels more like a bustling mall than a grand, opulent hotel, but that’s part of its unique, energetic character. A legendary Shanghai experience!

Really quite disappointed with the Ritz here. Rooms are old but decently maintained. Bathroom feels like stepping back into the 90s. Standard and nothing special, feels like a Sheraton inside once logos are removed. Service was lacking. Check in wad robotic, and breakfast was so rushed and packed. Food selection weak. Honestly there are much better options elsewhere. Really wanted to like this grand dame, but it's way past its prime and looks like the owner won't invest on upkeep and upgrades. What a shame

Marriott Hotels are a good bet. The service is great, location is near there office. There's a great Michelin Bid Gourmet restaurant just downstairs. I've been there twice already on the first day. I was upgraded to this executive room I think. There's a bath tub desk single sofa, huge TV and plenty of space in the room.

I expected more from Ritz Carlton , location is good if you fancy visiting the malls with global luxury brand next door and 8 mins walk is Kerry centre shopping mall . The hotel fr outside looks dated, inside I can say I am not impressed . The room’s furnishing looks tired and dated since the 1990s. Overall room is clean . What is driving this three star rating is really the chaotic breakfast set up . Too many tables are packed together , the selection is really not the Ritz Carlton I have seen . The breakfast selection looks like what any four star hotel in China would Provide and these four star sometimes outdo themselves .

The Hotel Westin Bund Center is a luxurious hotel in Shanghai, offering an array of amenities for guests to enjoy. With three restaurants and two bars, visitors can indulge in a variety of culinary experiences and cocktails. The hotel also boasts a spa and an indoor heated pool for relaxation and rejuvenation. Guests can savor live music performances at the chic bar on the 39th floor while taking in stunning views of Shanghai's cityscape. Additionally, the buffet restaurant provides a delightful dining option.
To: The Management Team, The Westin Bund Center Shanghai Date: November 11, 2025 Subject: Formal Commendation for Mr. James Yin – Exemplary Dedication to Guest Experience As a Marriott Titanium member for the past 14 years, with over 1,200 hotel nights, I have experienced a wide range of hotel services. I am writing to formally express my sincere appreciation for the outstanding service provided by Mr. James Yin during my recent stay at The Westin Bund Center Shanghai from November 9 to November 13, 2025 (Guest Last Name: Cao, Room #2251). Mr. Yin exemplifies the highest standards of service excellence through his dedication, professionalism, and unwavering commitment to guest satisfaction. Mr. Yin thoughtfully recommended Mr. Andy Qi from Shanghai Go Travel Consulting to arrange a three-day private tour of Shanghai and its surrounding cities. This recommendation proved invaluable, resulting in an exceptional experience characterized by exemplary customer care, meticulous time management, and a high standard of service. Without Mr. Yin's insightful suggestion, I would not have had the opportunity to enjoy such an enriching travel experience. Additionally, Mr. Yin demonstrated remarkable integrity during a challenging situation. After I misplaced my wallet in the hotel elevator, he promptly located it and contacted me to verify my identity, ensuring that it was securely stored in the hotel's safe until I could retrieve it. His quick response and considerate follow-up prevented a significant inconvenience that could have disrupted my trip. His attention to detail and commitment to the safe return of my belongings were truly commendable. Mr. James Yin's contributions—both in facilitating an extraordinary travel experience and in managing a critical lost property incident—reflect his profound dedication to customer service that far exceeds standard expectations. He is an invaluable asset to The Westin Bund Center Shanghai, and I strongly recommend that his exceptional efforts be formally recognized.

location wise- perfect, nothing to complain about. Service- Terrible for a 5 star hotel. I have booked 2 rooms, 1 is acceptable, the other was terrible that I have to request for room change. The whole floor was smell of cigarettes even though is an non smoking floor. My room was not spared, so had to have my room change. The new room isn't impressive as well. First, a 5 star hotel toilet doesn't come with a bidet spray, the shower cubicle actually pond after shower. Imagine the drainage side is actually on the higher side, so even the next day after I shower, the cubicle still pond. Service- As good as don't exist. When I check in, no bellboy around to help with my luggage, I have to drag my own luggage to my own room. So have to drag down and up again after I requested to had my room change. Concierge is not helpful at all, never inform on Breakfast venue, timing. Didn't even offer to get a bellboy to help with luggage. Breakfast- After telling the counter on our room no. No one was there to usher us to a table, I have to walk around with my wife to look for empty table. Total disappointment for a 5 star hotel...

Westin: The hotel enjoys an excellent location right on the Bund, within walking distance to the waterfront and countless top-tier restaurants. This convenience is one of its strongest assets. The overall design and décor, however, clearly reflect the style of the 1990s and early 2000s. Both the room layout and furniture design reveal their age, and while the lobby is grand and impressive at first glance, it still feels dated. The atmosphere falls short of what one would expect from a modern luxury hotel. One of the biggest drawbacks is the smell inside the building. Likely due to the overly old carpets, there is a lingering odor reminiscent of sewage or something rotten. To mask this, the staff appear to use heavy fragrances, but the combination only makes the air more unpleasant. On the positive side, the pricing is relatively reasonable. Compared with lifestyle-oriented luxury brands under Marriott such as W Hotels, the room rates here are roughly half, which might appeal to budget-conscious travelers who still want a prime Bund location. Another positive is that the water pressure in the shower is excellent, making for a very comfortable bathing experience — a noticeable improvement compared with my previous stay at a W Hotel, where the water pressure was insufficient. In summary, the location is excellent, the lobby retains some grandeur, and the pricing and shower comfort are strong positives, but the dated décor and poor air quality significantly affect the overall experience.

From the moment you step into the lobby of the Westin Bund Center, you’re greeted with a sense of luxury. The space is creatively designed, featuring dramatic hanging lamps, a grand illuminated stairwell, and impressive lighted palm trees that create a truly stunning atmosphere. The rooms are of standard size, but thoughtfully arranged, with a comfortable bed. Breakfast was another highlight; the buffet offered a wide variety of options, and the open concept dining area was both pleasant and well maintained. The only drawback during our stay was the language barrier. None of the staff members spoke English, which made even simple requests, like ordering room service, quite difficult despite the help of Google Translate. Ultimately, we had to rely on a local friend to arrange a McDonald’s delivery to the hotel. Overall, the property itself is beautiful, and it’s clear the staff are dedicated to providing attentive service within their capacity. While I recognize this hotel is located in China, being part of an American chain sets certain expectations for international guests. Even a basic level of English support would go a long way. With this improvement, they could truly deliver an exceptional experience on all fronts. On the positive side, its central location is also a distinctive advantage; just a 10 minute walk to The Bund, Shanghai’s famous waterfront promenade, offering some of the best views of the city.
KARINA C — Google review
Our stay at the Westin on the Bund was, unfortunately, far from the five-star experience we expected. The hotel is extremely busy, at times it felt more like Disneyland than a luxury property, with crowds everywhere. The rooms are of good size, but the humidity smell was hard to ignore and gave an overall sense of poor maintenance. The breakfast, however, was the biggest disappointment! Not only was cleanliness lacking, but the quality of food was subpar, and we had to queue for quite a while just to get in. On the positive side, the SPA was excellent in terms of quality and service, but the prices were shockingly high, almost four times what we later found at an equally luxurious external spa nearby. Definitely a one-time experience. To make matters worse, even as Marriott Bonvoy members, our status wasn’t recognized because the booking wasn’t made directly, which felt both outdated and unacceptable. The one redeeming factor is the hotel’s super central and convenient location, perfect for exploring the Bund and downtown Shanghai. Still, overall, I’m not sure I’d recommend this hotel.

The hotel's location was convenient, within walking distance to main areas and eating places in Shanghai, including a 10-minute walk to The Bund. The room was clean and had a nice view. Housekeeping service was very satisfactory, with staff doing their job with care and honesty. The lobby and reception staff, especially those at the concierge counter, were helpful and responsive to guest enquiries. They provided useful advice on dining and sightseeing when asked. James Yin was a particularly helpful staff member who contributed to making our stay enjoyable and memorable, he’s good example of a dedicated service staff who displays warm hospitality to the guests.

We had an excellent experience at this hotel. Check in was quick, most of the front desk spoke at least some English which was helpful for us. We got in late because of a delayed flight and they offered us a 4pm check out. It’s very close to the Bund and all the restaurants and shops. Maybe a 10 minute walk. The room itself was clean, very big, bed was very comfortable as were the robes. Several choices for food onsite as well. The room had blackout curtains and was very quiet. The concierge was very helpful. He arranged our pick up from the airport to the hotel as well as assisted us when we were leaving and needed to get to the train station. I would stay here again.

After looking at pictures of the hotel was expecting it to be exceptional, but unfortunately this was not the case. The service from staff was adequate but not amazing compared to other hotels in a similar price range. An exception was one young woman servicing the breakfast who provided great customer service.

Nestled within the iconic Shanghai World Financial Center, Park Hyatt Shanghai stands tall on floors 79 to 93, making it one of the highest hotels globally. This luxurious high-rise offers an exquisite blend of modern elegance and breathtaking views of the city skyline and Huangpu River from its 174 stylish rooms and suites.
It is truly an incredible hotel. The views from the 91st floor are just mind blowing. It is one of a kind and once in a lifetime experience to wake up on the 84rd floor and see the bund from the top. Location is very good but you will still need to go to the metro and ride 1 stop to get to Nanjing road. Nevertheless the metro is easy to access and extremely cheap. Breakfast is high quality with a buffet and a À la carte menu.

The Diplomatic Suite is marvellous, offering functional space with an airy feeling and an impressive six-metre ceiling. Housekeeping is top-notch, ensuring that every detail of your stay is flawless. I would, however, encourage the hotel’s engineering team to improve the connectivity with the high-end music systems. The in-room Nespresso machine, while high-end, is still an early version, and the cupboard it is placed in could benefit from a more user-friendly design. The dining room serving Shanghai cuisine is a must-visit. The dishes are absolutely delicious and executed to perfection, particularly the signature creations. Billy, the manager in charge, took excellent care of us, as did the entire service team. Considering the quality, atmosphere, and the sweeping views from the 87th floor, the prices for the meals are extremely fair.

Room: Stayed at the Diplomatic Suite on the 88th floor, spacious and comfortable. If you want a better view, I would suggest booking one on the 85th floor instead. Service: Very good overall, most staff are friendly. However, check-in is definitely their weakest point. One of the male front desk staff (forgot his name) wasn’t very professional, and it’s quite unacceptable for a Park Hyatt to have guests lining up that long just to check in. Other than that, service throughout the stay was great. Dining: Yuexuan restaurant is very good and tasty. It’s actually the reason why we keep coming back and staying at this hotel again and again. Location: Very convenient.

Not really sure if it's a common theme for 浦东 hotels to be lacking or awkward service-wise, but it certainly feels that way. We stayed in this place a while ago but I still remember the inconsistencies in service and hard product. Check in is slow, no offer to help with luggage, views from the room and lobby are great, staff seems generally untrained or maybe from somewhere 乡下. For example, we were asked if we were staying at the hotel when we stopped to check out the gym and grabbed a bottle of water while we were there. Double elevators to access rooms is slightly inconvenience and does get old, but not the end of the world. Might be the worst PH we've stayed in.

The constant creaking and creaking from the building doesn't inspire much confidence at these dizzying heights. Unfortunately, the rooms are very coldly furnished, and some of the furniture isn't quite as new. The TV in the bathroom is unfortunately a bad joke Super small, dark and no programs The Japanese toilet with heated seed and multiple choices for anything is very comfortable. It even open by itself when you get closer. Some art in the hotel also reminds one of toilets But park Hyatt is always very exaggerated The entrance hall looks more like the access to the nuclear-bomb resistant headquarters of a James Bond villain House rules are also very strict.. watching adult movies will be reported to the police.. 🙄

Honestly service was pretty mid for a Park Hyatt. Service was definitely kind of disappointing. Views were great but the rooms were really dated. Could hear the neighbours talking loudly so sound insulation was not great either. Location is ok, would prefer to be at the Bund area. Overall, average hotel at best.

Loving the place. Stuff is super nice and helpful, especially concierge. I bought a small styling nightstand which I didn’t expected in the trip. At first it was planed to ship it by sea while I changed mind at last minute to check in as a luggage by plane. I called concierge if they can get someone to help repack it. I thought they would get some third party to work on it. BUT THEY DID IT and did it perfectly with bubble wrap and cardboard box. They even weighted it and texted me the result. So nice and considerate they are! Btw, the view is super nice: the Bond was so clearly seen at perfect angle. And walking distance to other landmarks.

Located in the Caohejing High-Tech Park in Shanghai, Renaissance Shanghai Caohejing Hotel offers a premium lodging experience with its three restaurants, coffee shop, spa, indoor pool, and gym. The hotel boasts a wonderful buffet featuring an array of cuisines including sashimi, Western dishes, traditional Chinese fare, Shanghainese noodles, and a tempting selection of ice cream and desserts. Guests can also enjoy the indoor pool and massage services.
I really enjoyed the stay at this location. It is close to a mall, and there is a subway station nearby. Plenty of food options all around. The staff was very friendly and you can always see someone in the lobby to help. I really liked their breakfast buffet as well. It has both western and eastern cuisine options. I tried 2 room services dinners, and they were very good as well. They have a fitness center and a pool on-site and they were clean and well-maintained. Overall, it was a very pleasant stay.

This hotel is inside the Caohejing Developing Zone which houses offices for tech and manufacturing companies. Quite convenient if you need to visit that area. Next to a big mall with lots of restaurants and shops, including Uniqlo. Hotel staff are friendly and helpful. Rooms are spacious and well-maintained considering the age of this hotel. Broad range of foods in the buffet breakfast.

Here's a review for the Renaissance Shanghai Caohejing Hotel: I recently stayed at the Renaissance Shanghai Caohejing Hotel and had a wonderful experience. The hotel offers a variety of dining options, including a Korean restaurant that is truly exceptional. While the vegetarian options were somewhat limited, the staff was more than willing to accommodate special requests and prepare delicious vegetarian dishes upon request. The breakfast buffet served in another restaurant on level 1 was outstanding. The hotel also has a dedicated bar, although slightly on the expensive side, it offers a great selection of drinks. One of the highlights of the hotel is its cleanliness and the pleasantness of the staff. The employees were not only friendly but also very helpful. The rooms were clean and well-equipped with all the necessary amenities for both business and family trips. The hotel's location is another plus point, as it is only a few minutes' walk from Stellantis. There is also a small mall nearby, which, while not offering much in terms of shopping, is interesting to explore. However, if you're looking for a wider range of shopping options, there are larger malls in the city. Overall, my stay at the Renaissance Shanghai Caohejing Hotel was delightful, thanks to its excellent dining options, cleanliness, helpful staff, and convenient location.

I stayed at Renaissance Shanghai Caohejing Hotel in October 2024 and experienced a serious privacy breach. Hotel staff disclosed my personal and room-sharing information to a third party over the phone without consent or identity verification. Despite acknowledging the call, the hotel denied responsibility, citing the lack of a phone recording. I reported the issue to Marriott HQ, which promised a reply within 5–7 business days — but I never heard back. This careless attitude toward guest privacy and accountability is extremely disappointing. I do not recommend this hotel to anyone who values trust and professionalism.

Awesome Hotel with real 5 star experience. Has a good restaurant (Elements) offering good Chinese and Western cuisine. Located very close to the Oriental Pearl TV tower, and the Bund area. Staying here for the last 10days and the Kempinski hotel is providing the best possible services. Staff here are very friendly..

Solid 5-star value hotel. Although rooms are a bit dated, the space is really huge and I would highly recommend paying a bit extra or upgrading to the rooms with river view. The 24-hour gym is situated on the top floor and has nice views of the Oriental Pearl Tower. Didn't try the indoor pool out as it wasn't made clear that you'd need a swimming cap. This can be bought on the spot if needed. Breakfast for me is the star of the show for the hotel as they have an extensive buffet spread where you'll be spoilt for choice, plus a generous operating hours. The Chinese restaurant on the first floor is also highly recommended! Went twice and both times it was very quiet and the food was really delicious. The staff was very attentive as well.

This is a really fine hotel with great views of The Bund and only a quick metro ride away from the heart of Shanghai. I recieved amazingly attentive service from all the hotel staff. If your room includes lounge access then you are in for a real treat and it's not something they make a big deal of on their website. However, there is an a la carte breakfast (buffet downstairs gets pretty busy so having somewhere else to go is great), lunch (again a la carte. I recommend the quessadillas if you need a break) and late afternoon includes a great buffet, hot and cold foods plus alcohol options (see pictures). With such great views from my room, I actually found it difficult to leave the hotel.

Sure! 😊 I can help you write great reviews — but to make them sound realistic and useful, please tell me a few details first: 1. 🌆 Which city or hotel in China do you want to write about? (e.g., Beijing Hotel, Shanghai Marriott, etc.) 2. 🏨 Are these positive reviews, mixed, or negative ones? 3. 💬 How many reviews do you want — and should they be short (2–3 lines) or long (1–2 paragraphs)? 4. 🎯 Who are they for — your own travel blog, a website like TripAdvisor, or an assignment? Once you share that, I’ll write natural, professional hotel reviews for you.

Vacation | Couple China is working hard to impress and their service rarely suffers. This is a well located, impressive looking and feeling hotel with pretty nice rooms. I admit that some elements feel a little out of date, a little worn in obvious ways - but no less accommodating. The beds were all in all fairly comfortable. The hotel is generally quiet but noise from the hall is noticeable, when someone is loud. The walls had a tendency to seem thin and we heard people speaking. I think for the price it's fairly in line with what you might expect. I'd probably not stay again but I did not have a bad stay. Just not great. My previous hotel stay in Beijing was nicer and that made it hard to acclimate. If you are wondering if you should book, I would recommend that you do. Overall it's really not bad. There are many restaurants, there is reasonably spoken English. There are amazing views! Concierge and customer service were really responsive and helpful. I will also note that this hotel is very close to many Starbucks if you’re a tourist. And the train… Apple Maps will help you to better find stations, and many Starbucks aren’t listed but there are many. All of this in adjacency to the hotel.

Absolutely loved this hotel! Its location was within walking distance of shopping and the Pearl Tower, which made a huge difference for me, as I was traveling with my two year old daughter and used the stroller everyday. Rooms were clean, comfortable and quite spacious, with LOTS of amenities. The concierge desk went above and beyond to help me with the questions and requests I had during the stay. My brother who was also traveling with me used the spa a couple of times for a massage: said it was very good. The lobby bar was cozy and had great service. What impressed me most though is the children’s play area in the lobby. My toddler played there in the evenings while we relaxed at the bar a few feet away. If I ever go back to Shanghai I’d definitely stay at Grand Kempinski again.

Located in the heart of Shanghai, Conrad Shanghai is a 66-storey luxury hotel offering stunning views of the city skyline and easy access to popular attractions. Situated on Nanjing Road Pedestrian Street, it provides convenient access to People's Square and various metro stations. The hotel features a heated indoor pool, hot tub, and The Hu Bar and Lounge on the 65th and 66th floors with panoramic views.
The service at Conrad Shanghai is truly exceptional, and its prime location makes it even more remarkable. Loreina and Echo welcomed us with great warmth and professionalism during check-in, giving us a detailed and captivating presentation of the hotel's high-end facilities. Upon departure, Lily took care of everything with incredible efficiency, making the process smooth and quick. We were also delighted with Ray's kind assistance in upgrading our room, which took our stay to another level. We would like to give special thanks to Alex (he has the same first name as me 😁) , who I don't know if he was part of the team that day, for providing exceptional guidance and support during our stay, speaking excellent Chinese and English. Overall, it was an absolutely fantastic stay that we will remember for a long time.

This was by far the worst experience I’ve ever had in a five-star hotel, let alone one from the Hilton chain. I had booked five rooms in the same category for myself and my team. Upon check-in, I informed the hotel that two of my teammates would be arriving a day late due to a flight cancellation. Three of us checked in as planned, but even then, two of us were given smelly rooms that needed to be changed. The check-in process itself was chaotic, unnecessarily complicated, and dragged on for over 30 minutes. When my two teammates finally arrived the next day—exhausted after a long intercontinental journey and meetings—they were told no rooms were available in the category we had booked and prepaid. Instead of being upgraded (as one would expect in a five-star hotel when the booked category is unavailable), they were offered a downgrade. The hotel claimed they should have checked in before 3 p.m.—which is absurd, especially since I had already informed the hotel the day before about their delayed arrival. At no point did anyone mention such a rule. Worse still, the rooms they were eventually given were again smelly. After a long and exhausting back-and-forth with the front desk, only then did the staff admit they could provide rooms in the correct category—after another hour, once they were cleaned. By that point, my teammates had already been trying to check in for over 40 minutes. And then the situation escalated into the truly unacceptable: one of my teammates was given a key card to a room that was already occupied. Yes—you read that right. The hotel let us walk into a guest’s occupied room. Luckily, we were cautious and noticed the sign on the door, but imagine if someone had been inside with their belongings, or worse—imagine walking in on someone’s private moment. For a five-star hotel, this is beyond disgraceful. The staff offered a bottle of Chinese red wine as an apology, which was almost insulting compared to the severity of the situation. No compensation, no real accountability, just a shrug and a bottle of wine. This experience was unacceptable from start to finish: smelly rooms, lengthy and incompetent check-in, downgrades instead of upgrades, appalling customer service, and the unforgivable mistake of handing out a key to an occupied room. Addition: when asking for a new hotel card the next day i wasn’t even asked to verify my name but solely asked „you are“ and shown the name of the room I was asking for? Safety and privacy apparently count 0 in this hotel

Nice spacious rooms, a bit of weird shower and toilet divisions but worked out well for people sharing a room. The recipients speaks good English, we got a free upgrade to a room in the 28th floor with a nice view. The location of the hotel was very convenient. We would love to share our gratitude to the sweetest person at the hotel Rosemary, she was so cheerful and greeted almost everyone with their native language. Hope no one ever dims her light. Thank you for making our stay memorable.

Just stayed here for 7 nights, everything was perfect - The room was great, it had a nice ambiance and layout, and it was kept nice and tidy throughout my stay. Location is superb, you really can’t beat it on Nanjing Rd, 2 minutes walk from People’s Square Metro Station, and lots of coffee and tea shops as will as convenience stores within a minute walk from the hotel. I also had breakfast there, and selection is very decent. (Great quality bacon) But a few things could be improved, such as the big bowl of yoghurt. For sanitary reasons and overall freshness, it would be better if it was portion sized with a lid on, stored in a fridge. (Similar to the sliced , which are stored in a cool place) Other than that, a memorable stay I’d happily repeat in the future.

Service was great. Room was excellent but a little old. AWESOME breakfast buffet. Happy with my use of Amex Platinum FHR benefits. Must stay for first time in Shanghai as it’s super convenient to nanjing road for shopping:)

This hotel stands out for its fantastic service and truly remarkable staff. While not as new as some other luxury properties, the location is perfect, and the people are what elevate it to outstanding. They have a brilliant ability to anticipate needs, paying close attention to every detail to ensure a happy, stress-free stay. My recent stay from November 9th to 11th illustrated this perfectly. On the 10th, my trip was nearly ruined when I mistakenly left my backpack, containing my wallet and passport, in a taxi. Given my heavy travel schedule, I couldn't even pinpoint which car I'd used. My international phone was useless for connecting directly with the driver through DiDi. Enter the beautiful Ivy at the front desk. She immediately went above and beyond the call of duty, demonstrating an extraordinary level of dedication. Working with her manager, Mr. Ge, Ivy leveraged her network, including WeChat and her personal contacts, for tips on tracking the driver. Thanks to her unparalleled effort, my passport was safely returned that very evening, and my entire vacation was miraculously rescued. Their actions didn't just solve a problem; they provided a masterclass in world-class service.

I am very disappointed with the service quality of the Conrad hotel, which is managed by the Hilton group. The breakfast was poor, and some days we had to queue to be seated for breakfast. The attitude of both the hotel staff and management team was very poor. The laundry service pricing was not transparent. My guest was out sightseeing all day, and upon returning to the room, found a used bottle of water and a bill for it placed in the room, even though they did not drink that bottle of water.

Just How Bad Is the Conrad Shanghai? Today I am finally reviewing the Conrad Shanghai. I have long been curious why this landmark hotel gets so much criticism. After staying there, I understand now that its reputation as the worst Conrad in China is well deserved. The hotel is located in the Shanghai Shimao Square, which opened in 2006. The building was once a representative commercial landmark in Shanghai and was the tallest building in Puxi for 18 years. Before the pandemic, it operated under the Royal Méridien brand. This uniquely futuristic building hosted Royal Méridien’s debut in China. At the same time, Starwood decided to stop accepting new applications for the Royal Méridien brand, making this location the last Royal Méridien ever opened worldwide. Unfortunately, the hotel could not withstand the impact of the pandemic and was rebranded as a Conrad in 2022. As a pioneering landmark hotel in Shanghai from the early 2000s, the Royal Méridien stood out with 728 rooms, making it a giant in the city’s hospitality scene at the time. The Conrad has retained the same large number of rooms. However, the massive scale also means a complicated elevator system. The elevators are divided into three zones. Red for the lower floors, blue for the middle floors, and yellow for the higher floors. While this zoning is meant to reduce wait times, it can be confusing for older guests or those unfamiliar with the layout. When it comes to member benefits, both the Conrad Shanghai and the Conrad Guangzhou are known for not being generous. Based on numerous reports, elite members rarely receive special treatment or complimentary room upgrades. Rooms with a Bund view usually require an extra fee. On this stay, I was unexpectedly upgraded to a mid-level room with a Bund view without asking, which was a rare surprise. The Conrad Shanghai still keeps many of the rooms that were renovated toward the end of the Royal Méridien era. While these rooms were considered modern at the time of the update, they have not been refreshed since the rebranding. By today’s standards, they feel dated. The bathrooms in particular are cramped and furnished with outdated materials, giving off a budget hotel vibe. If you prefer a room that belongs to the Conrad era, it is best to request one in advance by email or phone. Is the Conrad Shanghai really the worst Conrad in China? In terms of hardware, the answer is probably yes. The facilities are old, the layout is inconvenient, and the room conditions vary greatly. Many details fall short compared to other Conrad properties. That said, during my brief stay, I did not have any negative experiences. This may be because I had low expectations to begin with, and I was only there for one night without using many hotel services. In fact, I had very little interaction with the staff. The one employee I did meet, at the front desk, was friendly and offered the upgrade without being asked. It is worth noting that despite the mixed reviews, the hotel’s rates have been creeping up. Standard prices are now over 1,300 CNY per night. However, thanks to deeply discounted corporate rates, the hotel continues to maintain high occupancy. In the end, location is everything. Despite its flaws, the Conrad Shanghai occupies a prime spot in the city center, which gives it irreplaceable value.

Andaz Xintiandi Shanghai - A concept by Hyatt offers modern accommodations with various dining options, a spa, and an indoor pool. The hotel is conveniently located in the downtown area of Shanghai City, within walking distance to Xintiandi. This former residential district has been transformed into a trendy hub filled with shops, cafes, and galleries. Visitors can explore the historical Shikumen structures that reflect the fusion of Western and Chinese architectural influences from the 1850s.
Andaz has offered so many great things and services throughout my stay. I just want to give a huge thanks and full shoutout to all the amazing staff who worked hard from the day I checked in until check-out. Special thanks to Leo and Dylan.. Thank you so much for your kindness and help! 💙 I’ll definitely come back again one day to stay at Andaz Xintiandi. ✨

Doesn’t feel like a five star hotel. The check in counter is kiosk machine with staff assistance, which feels like a motel. No lobby sitting area with couches, guests have to stand or walk around when waiting for services or taxis. Room is ok, I love the hardwood floor and bathroom, but other than that, everything is very standard. Location is great, close to metro and shopping/restaurant.

It’s located in one of the best core downtown Shanghai Puxi areas. Not the newest hotels but well maintained. Loved their “Happy hour” services with great selections of drinks and snacks! Worths the prices!

Here's the honest but harsh truth. This place is basically a trap for those looking to use their amex credit. It's like $230 USD a night. But the value of the comparable hotels is probably $125-140. So you can use your credit sure, but it's extremely overpriced for that reason. The breakfast is also absurdly priced. It's $40 USD for a spread of breakfast foods that would cost $2-4 on the streets of Shanghai. It doesn't make sense. The hotel is nice. It's clean. It's extremely western. The gym is decent. Basically everyone here is a foreigner using their amex credit or on a business trip. Its just not worth the money. Also our non smoking room smelled like smoke. We moved to a different one and it was fine though.

Fantastic location right at the heart of Xintiandi, French Concession in Shanghai. Walking distance to all attractions in the areas e.g. restaurants and shopping center. It was first built in 2011 so pretty old but well maintained. All room equipment are modern and user friendly. Staffs are friendly, polite, and efficient. The only improvement I think is at lobby and restaurant/ bar area to work on the old damp smell. The rooms are perfect. We love staying here.

The non-smoking room was filled with a strong smell of cigarette smoke — it seemed the odor had already seeped into the furnishings. Hotel staff were openly arguing and shouting in the lobby, and shockingly, no manager came out to stop them.

Excellent stay for one week with Andaz. Rooms were spacious and clean. One particular staff at the lobby lounge, AJ, stood out for excellent attentive service.

The front check-in lady was super rude and aggressive. Due to the status of my hotel package, I can get a free room upgrade upon arrival “if available.” If they said “there’s none available” that would’ve been fine. But this lady lied straight to my face and said “we don’t have that type of package.” I pulled it up on my phone to show them that I had the package. She then shifted the lie to “we already upgraded to a suite for you.” That’s bs because I booked the suite. I just wanted to see if there’s any available upgrade because it’s part of the package. It doesn’t hurt to ask. But I was wrong… this person found every way to annoy me. After I showed her that paid for the suite and booked it myself with no upgrades, she lies again! She claims that I booked a regular room?!?!? I would know what I paid for, my wallet knows too!!! Up until the very end, she says “the room you have is already the highest level and can’t be upgraded.” Maybe start with that next time instead of making weird and poor excuses that weren’t even true??? That was just the check-in. When I got to my room, there were so many issues. First off, the bathroom design. The shower space is not contained, so you’ll feel the cool breeze as you shower. Plus the water went cold pretty quickly, making it very unpleasant! All the other hotels I stayed at had some door for the shower to isolate the heat and prevent a draft of cold air from ruining your shower. This was my first time experiencing such a terrible shower in any luxury hotel. I didn’t even think this was a possibility. If you want to sleep, the vents are oriented in such a way that it blasts air straight towards your face. It dried out my noise and made sleeping very uncomfortable. The working desk was the same except you have a constant breeze blasting behind your head. I had to turn down the fan speed to low to make it bearable. The slippers they provided were very odd and uncomfortable. It doesn’t feel like any slipper I’ve ever worn before. The light control system is an absolute nightmare. It’s at times unresponsive, and when you want a specific light to turn off, the labels are not specific and you just have to play around with them to understand what button does what. If you want to have a real luxury experience without the risk of getting annoyed by the staff’s terrible attitude and without a terrible bathroom experience, I recommend the Ritz Carlton Pudong. Price point is about the same, with a better view, convenient metro station and amazing staff. They were able to accommodate me for everything, and they were exceptionally nice. They made me feel welcomed and treated me like a real guest of honor. They even offered a discount for the breakfast buffet when we wanted to invite a friend from outside the hotel. Unlike Andaz, they were trying to charge us for more if we wanted to use our $100 credit from our package. It was supposed to be about 170RMB but then they suddenly said that’s if we pay out of pocket. It’ll be around 280RMB if we use our credit!?!? Doesn’t make any sense. Sounds like a scam and they just don’t want us to have breakfast for free for multiple days using our credits from our package. Tl;dr: rude and gaslighting staff, cold shower, terrible experience 1/10 never coming back again I’m disappointed in Andaz Shanghai and I recommend my fellow foreigners to stay at the Ritz Carlton instead. It’s just better in every way. (Also the walk from the train station Line 1 to the hotel was terrible. Small road leading up to the hotel with markers on the floor for blind people, making the luggage haul experience very difficult.)

The Middle House is an upscale hotel that belongs to the stylish House Collective group, known for its striking architecture and design. The hotel is located in Shanghai and features two modern towers inspired by the local shikumen architectural style. Upon entering the lobby, guests are greeted by a warm and artistic space adorned with unique elements such as bamboo wall tiles and a stunning Venetian chandelier. The hotel's basement houses various facilities including a pool, sauna, steam room, gym, and yoga studio.
Location is extremely handy, easily accessible. Room and the facilities are very well maintained. One of the best hotel gym I have ever been to! Variable choices of machines and free weights, also a stair-master? I was shocked! Staff were also super nice and extremely helpful, especially thank you to Judy for the wonderful check in experience. Really like the cozy vibe and really made us feel like home. Would definitely revisit if we are going to Shanghai again, 10/10!⭐️

I recently lost my passport during our stay, and I can't thank Mary Fonda enough for her professionalism and support throughout this ordeal. She handled everything with such calm and care. The in-house guest experience manager was equally amazing, reassuring, attentive, and genuinely comforting. Their support turned a stressful situation into a manageable one. Because of them, we’ll definitely be choosing this place for our next stay!

I had a wonderful experience staying at The Middle House in Shanghai. From the moment I arrived, everything felt elegant and welcoming. The design of the hotel is stunning—modern, yet warm and calming. My room was spacious, beautifully decorated, and very comfortable. Amazing hotel and immaculate service! Super modern, living out its belief of being “Our House, Your Home” with its warm hospitality. Thank you to A. Director of Guest Experience, Lewis, for making us feel at home and making my birthday celebration a memorable one♥️ The hotel is conveniently located next to the luxury mall Taikoo Hui overlooking the LV ship “The Louis”. I stayed at the Residence side. The room and bathroom were huge, bedding was super comfortable with the room temperature just right. I was most impressed that one morning, I went downstairs to have breakfast, turned on the “make room” sign and the room was cleaned and tidied when I returned in half an hour. The hotel also has a large gym with all the equipment and weights you need for a good workout! For all the foodies, the Chinese restaurant, Shui Tang Li, is a must try if you want to get a taste of Shanghainese food at its best! The restaurant manager was also super knowledgeable and service was fantastic! A truly 5 star experience and and stay!

After 30-40 trips to Shanghai where I used to stay at the Peninsula, Bulgaria, or Waldorf, I can say that the upper House location is unbeatable. The bund, while pretty, gets unbearable when you go in and out of of the hotel, especially during traffic hours. Upper house is centrally located and super convenient. It is right next to the LV flagship store. The rooms are great (no cigarette smell like you get at many Chinese hotels). The concierge service could use some improvement, but like every good business person, it was corrected AND perfected by Lynn, who I believe is in charge of guest experience. The breakfast area was incredibly packed, but my experience was also made perfect by Mary Fonda. Overall, no hotel is ever perfect, but the Upper House is lucky to have both Lynn and Mary Fonda. They made the experience perfect.

Just wow. Everything about this place whispered thoughtful design and everywhere you look, there's an understated elegance and calm. Mi hijo was thrilled when we first walked in out room, mostly because he didn't see any corners, is you know what I mean. But also he loved the yin/yanging couch, a place where we spent a lot of quality time. The bed and linens were so comfy, too. The food was amazing. Every day, we had the most delicious breakfast. Mi hijo would order something exotic and I'd have eggs or something more reasonable. We did love the Dan Dan Noodles, though! The location was absolutely perfect. Access to everywhere and everything,. Walkable and lovely and had a ginat Louis Vuitton boat that excited mi hijo to no end. I can''t imagine a better hotel in this city. We were so happy to not stay at The Bund or Pudong. We were right where we wanted to be surrounded by chic shops, great restaurants, and a thriving nightlife.

The hotel offers chic eateries and bars, a gym, spa, meeting facilities, and added conveniences such as a tour desk, currency exchange, and business center. The hotel is conveniently located in Hongqiao airport. And once you learn the shortest path, it is just few minutes from the subway station as well. The rooms are good but the breakfast is where the hotel stands out the most. Not everything is good at the breakfast but what is good is really good. Gym is small, it would benefit from some more appliances but it is very clean on the other side.

Super convenient hotel with acceptable quality service. There is an indoor passage to the T2 Hongqiao airport and there are bunch of Chinese restaurants are available inside the hotel itself (3F). In 2F there is a 24Hr western style restaurant which is pretty much the only option you have if you are stay near the airport. Hongqiao main railway station is 11mins walk from the hotel lobby and quite convenient if you change between airport to train or vice versa.

The AC panel does not work, they ask me to OPEN THE WINDOW, give me FAN and ICE CUBE! the room facilities stated that the room have air conditioner but actually nothing. They ask me to move to lower level with same condition room. It CRAZY! The air circulator work only when i open the WINDOW and DOOR of my room, and they say yes, i need to do that if i want the room to be cold. ITS REAL SCAM!

It was a good place with big gym, swimming pools both indoor and outdoor. Breakfast that suits the chinese platale. However it is far from the train station as well as the exhibition centre. Proximity to amenities and food is lacking. Air con is fixed at 23 degrees Celsius which was very acceptable. For me. Indoor swimming required a swimming cap as with all china hotels indoor poor. Breakfast not well suited for international taste buds. Food at their restaurant on level 2 is excellent, see photo

Great location and very friendly and helpful staff (not a word in English, though—but we were already prepared to this). The best breakfast we had in China (compared to five different hotels in four towns). The rooms could be better, though—they are minuscule and rather dirty, to be honest. Also, this "hi-tech" lighting system common for China hotels is rather a curse—they'd be better off with regular zoned switches.

Perfect location, comfort, and attention to detail — an excellent choice for your trip! This hotel left an extremely pleasant impression! First of all, the location is truly unique. Just a couple of minutes on foot — and you’re already at the main attractions: the waterfront, Yu Garden, cozy streets, and the main pedestrian street, Nanjing Road. A real find for those who love exploring the city without long commutes. Inside, the hotel is very clean, cozy, and thoughtfully designed. The room is bright, neat, and modern. I especially appreciated the small bonuses you don’t see in every hotel: several packets of coffee and tea, a nice bathroom set including a great branded shampoo and conditioner, comfortable slippers. These details create a sense of care and make the stay truly comfortable. A special highlight is the buffet breakfast. The selection is excellent: both local dishes and familiar European options. And what was especially important for me as someone who doesn’t eat meat — the hotel offers a great variety of fresh vegetables and fruits. Everything was fresh, diverse, and delicious. It’s rare to find this, and I really appreciated it. Overall, the hotel left the impression of high-level service, attentive staff, and absolute comfort. I would happily stay here again and can confidently recommend it to those who value cleanliness, coziness, and a perfect location.

My wife and had the pleasure of staying at this hotel. We were first greeted by the front desk staff who were so warm and helpful. They even upgraded us to a better room as it was available. The rooms was clean and spacious. My wife also ordered some packages from taoabo to the hotel and they helped us with a missing package. As we did not speak the language, it was really great help. I cannot recommend this place enough. I will definitely come back here if I am ever in Shanghai.

(Translated by Google) 2024/08 The location is not in a busy area, but there is a Family convenience store downstairs of the hotel, which is very convenient. There is also a large shopping department store called LCM nearby. There are also bus stops nearby. Although I live on the 16th floor, there is no view from the window! Room hardware shortcomings: 1. TV Channel Five! The show seemed repetitive and not interesting. 2. The power socket in the room is difficult to use, other lights are not evenly arranged, and there is no night light. 3. I don’t know if it’s because I live on the 16th floor, but the amount of water in the shower is very small. I’m very curious about the fact that there is a washing machine + dryer in the house. With such a small amount of water, will the clothes be clean? 4. The refrigerator is not cold. When the power is turned on, the motor sound is a bit loud. 5. The pillows are very low. Even if you sleep with two of them, they will still be very flat and you will not be able to get a full rest. Room hardware advantages: 1. The only thing I appreciate in the house is the "Mijia Hair Dryer", which is powerful and quick-drying. 2. The air conditioner is very cool. The reservation includes breakfast, which only lasts until 9:30, but after 8:30, there is almost no food replenishment, and the breakfast content is not attractive. With 548 posh rooms and suites offering breathtaking views of the city skyline and the river, this hotel caters to international business travelers with its upscale dining options and a spa.
Nice Hotel with amazing views. The room was comfortable and spacious and had a great view. Staff was very nice and helpful. We had a great stay.

Decent high-floor rooms with good views and quite central - although feels more for business than tourism. But honestly, it feels quite soulless and I wouldn’t return. Doesn’t feel very well equipped for English-speaking guests which is surprising given what you would expect with the brand. Ultimately, it was perfectly acceptable but not 5 star. Staff are polite with limited English, but very few smiles and certainly no going the extra mile. No replies to reception emails informing them that out flight was delayed. QR codes for ordering room service don’t work, giving 403 errors. Check-in desk staff member was mute when my wife arrived to check-in. But I arrived with the bags and he spoke good English with me. Such a huge difference from checking-in at the Mandarin Oriental in KL the week before. Ordering room service over the phone (QR code didn’t work) in English was extremely difficult. Our first attempt for breakfast I was put through to three different people the first time trying to order but was told the room service menu I was ordering from didn’t exist and I must have the restaurant menu. It was 100% room service but I just don’t think the staff knew the words in English. Someone was apparently going to come to our room to take our order but never arrived. Second time I ordered, I was very clear ordering a meal without an ingredient, which I prefer to avoid for ethical reasons. This was repeated back to me and re-confirmed. And yet it arrived with this ingredient. I called up to highlight this and spoke to the same member of staff who took the order and who remembered me - she was “going to check” but I never heard back. Check-out was also confusing as our room rates were not what we had booked, and taxes were called out on separate lines for some nights and merged into the room rate on other nights. All in, nothing was terrible - but we might as well have stayed in a serviced apartment or high-quality letting. While it is a 5-star building with super views, the experience was no better than a 2 or 3-star hotel.
Matthew A — Google review
We stayed one night at the Grand Hyatt Shanghai and, unfortunately, the experience did not meet expectations — particularly at the front desk. During check-in, we were not informed about the required deposit, the staff just swiped my credit card amount with the deposit. When I requested a refund and offered to pay the deposit in cash, the staff denied my request saying that no cash transaction in the hotel (it is illegal to refuse cash by law). Even after fully paying for the night and having the deposit refunded, we were abruptly told that we were not allowed to incur any additional expenses during our stay. The lack of clear communication and abrupt tone left us feeling unwelcome. Another disappointment was the overall attitude of some staff, who appeared to be more courteous and attentive toward guests who looked like business travelers, while those of us dressed casually or appearing as leisure guests received noticeably less respect. It left us with the impression that we were being looked down upon, which was quite disheartening. That said, the room itself was clean, spacious, and comfortable and definitely has a great view. However, the bathroom design — particularly the shower — was poor, with water splashing across the floor during use. In summary, while the room was up to standard, the service experience was not. This hotel seems more geared toward business travelers and may not be the best choice for those seeking a warm, leisure-friendly environment.

⭐ 1/5 – Very Disappointing Stay at Grand Hyatt Shanghai From the moment we arrived, our experience at the Grand Hyatt Shanghai was far below expectations for a world-class hotel. Arrival & Check-in: The porters at the entrance did not speak English, which made communication very difficult. For an international hotel of this reputation, English-speaking staff should be available to assist guests properly. The entrance itself felt dull and lacked the welcoming atmosphere you would expect. Upon taking the elevator to the 54th floor for check-in, we were met with more disappointment — the check-in staff also had limited English and showed little professionalism or courtesy. Room Experience: When we entered our room, we were shocked to find it outdated and poorly maintained. The room had an unpleasant odor, and the bed was extremely uncomfortable. After just one night, my back was sore, which made the rest of the stay even more uncomfortable. Breakfast & Service: Breakfast was equally disappointing. There were not enough staff members to assist guests, and the service felt completely self-serve. If you didn’t already know where to find things, you were on your own. There were only two staff members at the bar serving coffee and tea, and even then, the coffee was made using automatic machines. For a hotel of this caliber, it’s unacceptable not to have a trained barista preparing quality espresso. Overall Impression: The entire stay was a major letdown — from poor communication and outdated rooms to lackluster service and amenities. Unfortunately, I would not recommend the Grand Hyatt Shanghai and consider it a very poor choice for anyone expecting true five-star standard

Stunning Architecture, but Overall Overpriced Experience What I Loved Most: The building itself is absolutely breathtaking - both from the outside and the interior atrium. We also enjoyed access to the Club Lounge, where the view of the Bund and the Pearl Tower during the evening drinks was definitely a highlight (self-serve cocktails were a fun surprise😅). The room was spacious and clean, and breakfast was good. What I Didn’t Like: Our room, despite being upgraded, had a very strong cigarette smell that made it uncomfortable to stay in - it felt heavily smoked-in. The furnishings and equipment feel dated, and overall service fell short of expectations for a luxury hotel: limited English communication, no assistance with luggage, and no escort to the room. While the architecture is impressive, the experience as a whole felt overpriced, and I would choose a different hotel on my next visit.
Monika M — Google review
Hotel location is good. Easy access to taxis and good shopping malls nearby with great food. Nonetheless, service is an area that needs further improvement. Check in was slow, way below my expectations considering it's a five star hotel. During breakfast, staff just cleaned my table even though there was a card stating it's still occupied. There were occasions that I had to remove some of the plates and cutlery myself.
Boon T — Google review
The only positive aspects were the hotel view and convenient transportation. However, everything else fell far below expectations. The service was the worst I've experienced, damaging Hyatt's reputation. Our room had a leak, and all the clothes in the closet were soaked, yet not a single staff member apologized. Although we were moved to a different room, the staff’s poor response left us deeply disappointed. I recommend choosing a newer hotel nearby with a better view.
SY S — Google review
Location is great but that’s it for a 5 star hotel. The check in is very slow. Multiple rooms have a cigarette smoke smell. We have tried 4 rooms and moved with our luggages multiple times until we found a room without cigarette smell. They will charge you $1,000 deposit, which is the highest I have seen in a hotel, and it has been three weeks so far and they did not release the deposit yet. The staff at the bar for breakfast do not speak english, we struggled to order a green tea. To be honest I wouldn’t pay this amount just for the location.

Hilton Shanghai Hongqiao is a contemporary hotel offering chic accommodations with city views. The hotel features impressive restaurants and friendly staff. While it's not centrally located, it offers spacious and clean rooms with comfortable beds. Guests can enjoy facilities such as a pool, spa, and multiple dining options. However, some guests feel that the hotel needs updates and mention issues like smoke smell and bathroom design flaws.
I had an outstanding stay at Hilton Honjao. This property is truly phenomenal – from the King Bed to the Premium and Deluxe rooms, everything is top-notch. The rooms are spacious, comfortable, and offer great views, with everything working flawlessly. The hotel itself is beautifully maintained with excellent amenities. The sauna and pool on the third floor are perfect for relaxing after a long day, and the whole atmosphere makes you feel well taken care of. A special mention goes to Henry – he is incredibly kind and friendly. His hospitality makes you feel right at home, even when you are 10,000 kilometers-miles away from your own house. Dinner could be slow without proper on following up.
T. K — Google review
This was by far the worst experience I have ever had at a Hilton hotel. Although they advertise swimming facilities for guests, in reality, the small, cramped pool — smaller than even a typical Super 8 — was entirely occupied by five to six swimming instructors conducting lessons with dozens of adults and children. The pool was overcrowded, and the water was murky, containing hair, eyeglasses, wires, and unidentified scraps of paper. When I raised my concerns with the staff, they responded indifferently, stating that “this is just how it is,” as if such conditions were entirely normal. It was unacceptable. I chose not to use any of the hotel’s other services afterward, fearing similar misrepresentation. For instance, the hotel’s restaurant had been rented out to an external company, resulting in an environment louder than a bar, completely unfit for hotel guests seeking a proper dining experience. Overall, the hotel presents a polished image but delivers a deeply disappointing and substandard experience. I would strongly advise others to avoid staying here.

Clean hotel with great breakfast. Perfect for a quick stopover. I didn't have a reservation but they were able to accommodate me. While it's linked to the airport, be aware that you'll need to take the train to get there, and a taxi after hours.

Hotel is nice. Location is convenient, but staff are just chaotic. On two occasions catering team told that buffet service is available, upon sitting then told it was a-la carte… I even asked 3 times the second time. I then went for massage at spa, and had the worst experience ever with spa manager.. first of all she said 880 per hour, 1180 for 1.5. I opted for 2.5, which should be around 2000… she then somehow added other charges equating to 2490. To make things worse she would not take no for a final answer when trying to sell me a package; the massage was good and masseuse pleasant but laying 2490 for a 2.5 hour massage is probably 50% more than I’ve spent in my entire life, and ive been to so many 5* hotels. The package was like 10000 yen, which is like 1220 dollars, she would not take no for an answer despite me saying I want to pay individually, and my card will reject it which was just an excuse on my end to get her to stop, then her response was “oh we can just try anyways”. She probably asked me 15+ times to go for package, it was literally harassment and degraded the expensive, but good massage. Overall the rooms are nice, the gym is good, sauna is good, but spa manager really soured the experience.
Christian G — Google review
Do not come to this hotel. I got here after making a reservation for 2 nights (I have stayed in 2 other Hilton hotels in Shanghai and all were great). When I got to the reception- they let me know that even though the picture of the room in the website has a window. Mine does not have one- at least not one that opens, and strongly suggested that I pay extra to move to a different room. I refused and checked in anyway- when I got to the room it smelled of mold and cigarettes WITH NO WAY TO OPEN THE WINDOW. I walked inside and indeed found the ceiling moldy and the sink dirty, as well as a note that said that this building is going through construction and sorry for the noise. So I will definitely not be coming back here.

Nice, neat, clean hotel. Service by assistant managers was good and staff in restaurant attentive. I will be staying here again, when required to go to the SHA Airport, but am not so sure that there is a lot to do in the area .
Brent C — Google review
Hilton Shanghai Hongqiao offers a well-maintained, business-focused hotel experience with spacious rooms and generous lounge facilities, ideal for those travelling through Hongqiao Airport or the nearby high-speed railway station. The hotel attracts a primarily Chinese guest mix, but international travellers can feel comfortable once settled in. The lobby creates a good first impression with its airy, marble-clad design, lounge seating, and central floral arrangements. Check-in was efficient in terms of process, though the initial interaction revealed that the front desk staff could benefit from better training, particularly in handling elite member requests. Fortunately, when this was brought to management's attention, they took the matter seriously and quickly resolved it. The stay included a complimentary upgrade to a Premier Room, which offered noticeably more space than the standard category. The room had a clean, modern look with wood floors, large windows, and a comfortable seating area. The bathroom stood out with its freestanding bathtub positioned by the window, offering city views, along with marble finishes and a spacious layout. A welcome amenity with fresh fruit and macarons was waiting on the table, which added a thoughtful touch. Breakfast is clearly designed with the local market in mind, featuring Chinese options such as congee, stir-fried noodles, steamed buns, and hot dishes. Western staples like eggs, pastries, fruit, and coffee are available, though the selection is more limited compared to full-service properties in other parts of the world. The main restaurant provides a wider buffet but tends to be busy, while the Executive Lounge offers a quieter setting with more personal service and a smaller but sufficient selection for breakfast. The Executive Lounge also provides a generous evening reception that exceeded expectations. A full dinner buffet with hot Chinese dishes, steamed dumplings, sushi, salads, cheeses, and a variety of desserts was available. Drinks, juices, and a good assortment of light bites were neatly presented, making it an ideal place to relax after a busy day. From previous stays at other hotels in China, this level of food and beverage offering in the lounge appears to be a standard expectation, but it still adds considerable value compared to lounges elsewhere. The hotel’s location is practical for business or transit, given the close proximity to Hongqiao Airport and high-speed rail. Getting to Shanghai’s main tourist attractions takes about an hour by car, so the location may not suit those focused on sightseeing. Despite the minor issue at check-in, service throughout the hotel was friendly and responsive, especially once management got involved. The rooms are comfortable and spacious, the facilities well maintained, and the Executive Lounge offerings stand out. For business travellers or those in transit through the Hongqiao area, Hilton Shanghai Hongqiao delivers a reliable and pleasant stay.

Nestled in the vibrant heart of Shanghai, Okura Garden Hotel offers a unique blend of history and modern comfort. This upscale hotel boasts polished rooms and suites that reflect its storied past, including elements from the former French Club, showcasing elegant Parisian style. Guests can indulge in culinary delights at five restaurants or unwind at three bars while enjoying the serene ambiance created by seven acres of lush gardens.

I stayed for three nights. The hotel is not located in the town center, but it is near a long walking street lined with shops on both sides, as well as bars and restaurants nearby. The room was spacious but felt a bit dated. Breakfast can be crowded, so be prepared to queue for a while. There is a wide selection of food, including a variety of Japanese dishes, as you’d expect from the Okura brand. However, the Japanese food fell short compared to what I’ve experienced at other Okura properties worldwide. You might prefer sticking to the Chinese food options instead.

The rooms are a bit dated and in need of a makeover. The lobby needs renovation too. The view we got is spectacular though. The location is also fantastic. Being able to get to huai hai road easily. Service needs to be improved badly. The front desk people were unfriendly even though they are willing to attend to your questions. They are not warm abs welcoming. It’s like a job to them. No extra effort to show courtesy. The gym is nice and spacious and good enough for a simple workout. There is also a jacuzzi and sauna which is nice for relaxation.

Very nice hotel and nice staff. Little outdated but very pleasant. Close to the subway and a lot of good restaurants with good food and great prices. Don't miss out the skybar. Huge selection of wine and food

A bit average for a 5 star hotel. Disappointing stay at the Okura Garden Hotel. Felt more like a 3/4 star at times. The lobby is very impressive and beautiful and the staff are friendly and provide some great service but there’s just several things that let it down. The rooms are quite dated and look worn/slightly damaged in places Some of the amenities provided are quite cheap and don’t feel very premium Gym is nice enough but annoyingly they charge you for a swimming cap to use the pool, which again feels pretty cheap and something a 3 star hotel would do, not a 5 star hotel. Overall I’d say save your money and go somewhere else as you’ll probably get the same thing for 2/3 of the price. Wish I tried a different 5 star now.

We stayed 2 nights at Okura Garden Hotel and had a pleasant stay. The room is spacious with comfortable bed and clean bathroom. The view from the room is also very good. The breakfast is adequate, the dumplings were pretty good. Some staff speak Japanese so the communication was very smooth.

Highly Recommended! I stayed at the Okura Garden Hotel Shanghai this July, right after returning from Japan, and it instantly reminded me of being back in Kyoto. The hotel has a beautiful sense of history, yet everything is so well maintained. From the concierge staff to the front desk, everyone was warm, proactive, and extremely helpful. We had a evening flight, and the hotel kindly offered us a late check-out. Even after checking out, the front desk arranged for us to use the health club facilities so we could take a shower before heading to the airport—such thoughtful service! The health club includes a gym, swimming pool, and Japanese-style bath with hot and cold pools as well as a sauna, which made the experience even more enjoyable. The room was spacious and bright, with excellent bedding. The view overlooked the hotel’s garden, making it quiet and peaceful—perfect for a good night’s sleep. The location is outstanding, right between Nanjing Road and Huaihai Road, next to Changle Road and Ruijin Road. It’s one of the best spots for city walk. The hotel has several restaurants that are well loved by locals. Hotel guests have 20% discount. I tried the Japanese restaurant, Yamazato. The tempura was average, but the sashimi rice bowl was outstanding—freshness on par with Tokyo’s Toyosu Market! It came with salmon, sea bream, three different cuts of tuna, uni, and salmon roe—absolutely delightful. This hotel will definitely be my family’s top choice whenever we visit Shanghai again.
