One of the highlights was the night view — with the fort lit up in golden lighting, it looked absolutely stunning! The illuminated walls create an eye-catching view that’s truly unforgettable. The sunset and night scenes together make this place even more magical. Overall, a must-visit destination for anyone exploring Rajasthan. Highly recommended!

Jaisalmer Fort, also known as Sonar Quila (Golden Fort), is a UNESCO World Heritage Site in the city of Jaisalmer, Rajasthan. It is one of the few "living forts" in the world, with shops, hotels, and a substantial portion of the city's population still residing within its walls. Opening hours: The fort itself is open to the public 24/7, as it's a living city. However, the Fort Palace Museum has specific hours (8 a.m.–6 p.m. from April to October and 9 a.m.–6 p.m. from November to March). Entry fee: While there is no entry fee to enter the fort, access to the Fort Palace Museum and the Jain Temples has associated fees. Best time to visit: The cooler months between October and March are the most comfortable for exploring the fort and the city. Palaces: Explore the Maharawal Palace (Raj Mahal), the former residence of the Maharawal of Jaisalmer, to see the extravagant lifestyle of the erstwhile rulers. Jain Temples: A cluster of seven finely carved Jain temples dating from the 12th to 15th centuries can be found within the fort complex. Haveli architecture: The fort contains numerous intricately carved merchant havelis made from yellow sandstone, including the 15th-century Vyas Haveli. Jaisalmer fort is situated in the heart of city. Jaisalmer is also known as Golden city. Almost one fourth of the oldest city population resides within the fort premises. Jaisalmer fort is second oldest fort of Rajsthan build by ruler Jaisal in 1156 AD. This fort built by yellow sandstone and the entire city was also built with same sandstone. Due to this reason only, this city is also known as Golden city. This fort is controlled and maintained by Archiological Survey of India (ASI). This fort is very attractive. Many foreign visitors also coming throughout the year to visit this fort and nearby ancient architecture. Famous Sam sand Dunes situated nearly 15-20 km away from Jaisalmer fort. Anyone can visit this place along with their family and friends. Suitable time to visit this place is from October to February.

Absolutely beautiful living fort. People live inside the fort and many old houses are converted into guest houses and restaurants. There is a jain temple which is located on the right portion of the fort and is a must visit. Taking a guide is recommended, they explain the history and walk you through the narrow lanes. A guide booth is located near the car parking and they announce it on speaker also, do not take guides waiting and stopping the cars nearby. One issue is for parking. On a busy day, its very hard to find the parking and authorities are only interested to collect the parking charges. They do not stop any vehicle near the entry where they collect Rs.60 for parking even after parking gets full and you are left on your own. Wastes huge amount of time. If you stay outside the fort and can’t reach early, take an auto rickshaw to avoid this frustration.

The place is currently under renovation, with road reconstruction and beautification work in progress. Despite that, it remains a lovely spot to visit. Boating is available until around 6–7 PM, and evenings are especially beautiful — the lake shores light up with warm yellow lights, creating a serene and picturesque view. You can sit by the stairs and enjoy the cool breeze flowing over the lake. There are also small markets and temples nearby, adding charm and activity to the surroundings. Parking facilities are available, making it convenient for visitors. Overall, Gadisar Lake is a calm and scenic place, perfect for an evening stroll or a peaceful boat ride.

Visited in 2019 during our college excursion, my visit to Gadisar Lake was one of the most peaceful and enriching experiences in Jaisalmer. Nestled on the edge of the city, this man-made lake was originally built in the 14th century by Maharawal Gadsi Singh to serve as a water conservation tank for the arid desert region. Beyond its practical purpose, the lake today stands as a beautiful blend of history, architecture, and natural serenity. Surrounded by intricately carved chhatris (cenotaphs), temples, and ghats, the lake reflects the architectural grace of Rajasthan. The calm waters, especially during sunrise or sunset, create a picture-perfect scene with the golden hues of Jaisalmer glowing in the background. As a history student, what fascinated me most was how such water bodies played a crucial role in desert life, not just for survival, but also as spaces for worship, community gatherings, and cultural expression. Boating on the lake gave a closer look at the structures scattered across the water—reminders of the city's glorious past. Gadisar Lake is not just a tourist spot; it’s a historical site that tells the story of sustainable living and the spiritual connection between nature and culture in Rajasthan’s desert heartland.

Gadsisar Lake is one of Jaisalmer's most beautiful and quiet locations. The lake exudes a tranquil and relaxing atmosphere, ideal for spending time with friends and family. There is also a Shiv Mandir nearby where you can receive blessings and enjoy a spiritual ambiance. Boating facilities are available, and the views from the boat are simply breathtaking, particularly at sunrise and sunset. When I arrived, there was a Teej Mela going on, which made the atmosphere bright and energetic. Due to the fair, the throng was large, but it added to the joyous atmosphere. There were various vendors selling traditional things, toys, local handicrafts, cuisine, and decorative items – ideal for those who enjoy shopping.

Very crowded no civics senses ppl were urinating on heritage gates n pillars even in Lake n there was no one guarding it having such a historic monuments in jaisalmer all there locals r just waiting for tourist to charge 100 times more but no one is helping around.

Kothari’s Patwon Ki Haveli in Jaisalmer is one of the most impressive and beautifully preserved havelis in Rajasthan. The entry is ticketed, and hiring a local guide helps in understanding its history better. Though it can get crowded during tourist season, the beauty and craftsmanship make it absolutely worth visiting. A true gem of Jaisalmer’s heritage!

Location of this place is slightly inside and many times vehicles are not allowed inside. You either have to walk more than a km or pay 50-100 rs for auto! Once you reach there, there is 100s of guide who will be after you constantly. Almost all haveli in Jaisalmer has the similar architecture - intricate curving on stones. Even though you Rs 150 per person as entrance fee, this place is not maintained properly. Everywhere you see bat and get bad smell. So had to come out immediately.

​Patwon Ki Haveli is not a single structure but a cluster of five magnificent havelis located in the heart of Jaisalmer, renowned as the "Golden City" of Rajasthan. Commissioned in 1805 by Guman Chand Patwa, an extremely wealthy merchant and trader of gold, silver, and brocade, this colossal mansion complex is the first and largest haveli built in Jaisalmer. Constructed entirely from golden-yellow sandstone, the havelis are celebrated for their breathtaking architecture, which is intricately carved with hundreds of elaborate jharokhas (balconies) and delicate lattice work, showcasing the unparalleled craftsmanship of the era. The sheer opulence and scale of Patwon Ki Haveli stand as a lasting testament to the immense prosperity and influence of Jaisalmer's mercantile community during the 19th century. This haveli has two parts. One is private property another one is controlled by government. Tickets of Government part is 55/- for Indian and private one is 150/- Private one is far far better than government part.

The location of shooting point of various movies including Hum dil de chuke sanam, Bhool Bhulaiye. The small small things used by a family is rearely maintained at any museum. Though Salarjung museum inhouses many things but those are collections of kings and Nawabs. Patwa or Kothari are real businessman of that time and now of this time also. The silver beds and sofas are showing luxurious life style in these deserts.

Jaisalmer is known for beautiful havelis. This beautiful haveli is located in the heart of town in small lanes. It was built in 19th century by two brothers Nathmal and Hathi Singh. It is made up of yellow sandstone in true Rajasthani style. The beautiful carvings all over the buildings are worth seeing. It's a beautiful piece of architecture. It is not open to tourist. Family lives there. We can only enter and see middle passage. Local items shop is established in that passage. That family allows only foreigner tourist to see their haveli. Stone carvings are beautiful in this Haveli. You can skip this place if you have paucity of time. Photographs and video added along with this review.

A blend of Islamic and Rajputana architecture, Nathmal Ki Haveli is one of the most beautiful Havelis in Jaisalmer. This haveli has derived its origin from the late 19th century and has an extraordinary exterior that is filled with carvings. The left and right wings were the work of two brothers-Hathi and Lulu and their competitive spirit produced this magnificent piece of architecture. Apart from its extraordinary outer carvings, this haveli is known for its beautiful interiors.

This place has no tickets, as this place is not for public as the owner lives here. but you can see it from outside and central part of it after entry where you get some things to buy. Good architecture and very nice carving done on walls.

It is a private haveli so you can only see the front and inner courtyard. So many of these buildings have such be as beautiful stonework. I am amazed at the skill to do such fine work in sandstone

It’s a very unique place removed from the city, but it was worthwhile the drive. Run by M Khatri who is passionate about protecting folk art he takes you through the museum, explaining every piece and the stories behind them. At the end of the visit, we are able to admire textile pieces that he gets embroidered by the village women and buy the ones that our heart desires.

More than a museum, it’s a whisper from the desert’s past. The Thar Heritage Museum isn’t just a place to see—it’s a place to feel. It’s a celebration of desert life, a tribute to forgotten stories, and a reminder that history lives not just in grand palaces but in humble homes and heartfelt tales. A must-visit for anyone seeking the soul of Rajasthan beyond the sand dunes and forts.

This place is a tiny little gem, waiting to be explored by culture enthusiasts. It is a very small museum, an underwhelming room really, of all things Rajasthan! It has been curated out of a personal collection. Entry is free and you will find Mr Shiva there, who will happily guide you through the artifacts and their significance. There are age-old photographs, tools, weapons, utensils and many other local things to aquaint you about Rajasthani culture and village lifestyle. I went there with my wife and 2 young kids, with absolute nil expectations. But we ended up spending about a good 30-35 mins, lost in conversation with Shiva. And each one of us came out completely entertained. Do visit this place if you have 20-30 mins at hand and an appetite for culture and history.

An amazing collection of artifacts, paintings and tools and daily use items of various desert tribes and Royal families of Jaisalmer region, painstakingly collected for over 20 years by the very dedicated and passionate Mr LN Khatri, the owner of this private museum. He is a wonderful person to talk to who gives personal tours to every visitor if planned in advance. I totally loved exploring the awesome collection with Mr Khatri. He has been awarded many awards over the years for this collection and it's an honor to meet such a humble, passionate man. Totally worth a visit!!

Today we visited the Thar Heritage Museum and it was a truly enriching experience. Though the museum is small in size, it houses a unique and fascinating collection showcasing the traditional lifestyle, culture, and even astrology of Rajasthan. The artifacts are well-preserved, and the entire place is beautifully maintained. What made the visit even more special was the interaction with Mr. Khatri, the owner, who shared valuable insights and stories behind the exhibits. Surprisingly, many antique items and souvenirs were available at very reasonable prices. Overall, it’s a hidden gem in Jaisalmer that reflects the soul of the desert in the most authentic way. Highly recommended for anyone who loves history, culture, and heritage!

A hidden gem in Jaisalmer! The Dessert Cultural Centre Museum offers a fascinating peek into Rajasthan's rich heritage. The puppet show was incredibly entertaining, and the museum itself is full of interesting artifacts. They also have a nice souvenir shop to pick up unique local crafts. Definitely worth a visit!

This was an absolutely brilliant puppet show and a very good price - 200 rupees for the puppet show and entry to the museum (for an international adult visitor, cheaper for locals and children). The puppets were beautiful and the music and puppetry were amazing to experience and very skilful. We loved the commentary as well which was amusing and very helpful to understand the show. We were also lucky enough to meet the founder of the museum who was lovely. It was also possible to buy puppets there for a very reasonable cost. We were mainly going for the puppet show but the museum had some interesting artifacts and we spent about 30 minutes there. There is also a lovely rooftop restaurant with a great view of Jaisalmer fort.

The personal introduction by the museum's enthusiastic director was awesome. You can ask any question about Rajasthan or life in India that might have come to your mind. He is a wealth of information. One can learn a lot about life in a desert and the history of Rajasthan in the museum. It looks a bit old fashioned, but it is really worth a look. In the end, the director even made a lovely puppet show with traditional music possible for us that otherwise wouldn't have happened on that specific day. Thanks a lot!!

Currently this place is run by founders son and granddaughter Nandini. There is a little museum, souvenir shop & puppet show (which i enjoyed very much) I m from Sri Lanka and we used to have puppet shows in my country, but not anymore. Glad to see a family keeping the tradition alive. If you are visiting Jaisalmer please visit the place and support them. Nandini you were very kind, welcoming and polite. Wish you all the best.

I attended the evening puppet show. It was a great experience! Puppet show consisted of multiple stories and multiple characters, requiring skilled hands to move them in ways that is mesmerizing and fun 😊 Additionally, I visited the museum display they have near the puppet show stage. Good and authentic artifacts were at display. I bought some puppet souvenirs too from their shop. Highly recommend the fun and peppy puppet show! 😃

It was a must visit place in Jaisalmer, a gem if you may call it. It was great;and the way he narrated the stories with such interest and passion was great. It very well engaged us and we had a miraculously wonderful time there. Us visiting the place was the best thing we did in jaisalmer. You cannot say you visited Jaisalmer without visiting this place and the vibe was fabulous.

Passionate people running the centre. The puppet show could be improved. A little pricey (Rs. 200 per person) while you can enjoy better and multiple types of performamces at other places including hotels and restaurants. Some of the artefacts in the museum were nice and better curation can increase the vibe of the place..

The photos attached are wrong its of Gadisar Lake in the city and the water in Amar Sage Lake is most of time dried out. Not recommended for Tourist place. There is temple but u will find better temples in Jaisalmer Fort

With its calm backwaters, Amar Sagar Lake is a tranquil tourist destination in Jaisalmer. This lake is located close to the Amar Sagar Palace that is another edifice in Jaisalmer. The palace is beautifully constructed and houses enchanting murals. This place has emerged as a frequented tourist site and is completely navigable. The tourists can enjoy boating at Amar Sagar Lake.

AMAR SAGAR LAKE Amar Sagar Lake, located about 7 km towards the western outskirts of Jaisalmer, is a lake cum oasis lying adjacent to the Amar Singh Palace. The palace itself was built in the 17 th century. The complex that includes the palace and the lake is also home to several ponds and wells, along with an old temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. Numerous figureheads of animals carved in stone surround the lake, and according to legends, these carved figureheads are supposed to be protectors of the royal family. At one end, there are pavilions with stairs that lead down to the lake; while at the other end is a beautiful, aesthetically carved Jain temple. A peaceful and tranquil place, the Amar Sagar Lake is yet another spot in Jaisalmer where you have an opportunity to watch a gorgeous sunset.

Don't forget to visit the Jain Temple and Royal Family's property near by. For good view visit after rainy season.

Somehow we managed to reach there and what we found, the lake was completely dry and not to forget, it was winter. Put this last in your trip.

Small but good collection...rarely visited by tourists but worth visiting if interested in history and culture of the people.

A must visit place when in Jaisalmer. Tells you about history about Indian Army History with a small 12 min movie. You feel a great sense of patriotism and positivity inside the campus. Do visit. Entry ticket for adult costs ₹30, Movie ₹25. For school children it's free.

Small museum, not crowded. Very small amount for entry ticket. Then collect Jaisalmer stones, coins, art, music instruments etc

I went in the off season. So there's no one except us 😂. There's not much exciting to see. But some fossils and sculptures are worth it. Also the Rajasthani traditional musical instruments. The ticket price is only 20 rupees for Indians. So it's good to visit.

Our family loved the WelcomHeritage Mandir Palace. The stunning heritage architecture and central location are perfect for exploring Jaisalmer. We visited the museum section which is open for visitors at this site and there is an entrance fee for which you are allowed entry into one section of this palace which is converted into a museum which is maintained well by I assume is managed by the Hotel authorities managing this palace. Well maintained and nice display of several items used by the royal family.

It was a lovely place. It was rustic, authentic and felt living in olden days. The staffs and service was also great. Food was lovely, especially the dinner on their roof top restaurant. The breakfast buffet wasn't that good though.

Stayed at this amazing palace hotel during my trip to Jaisalmer. The property belongs to the king of the land (his family stays in a part of the palace). The hospitality is very good and the view of the Golden Fort during rooftop candlelight dinner was amazing 😍. Highly recommended.

Skip the mandir palace museum, there is nthng much inside, also tkt prices are very high, and still phone camera needs separate tkts. Don't pay extra for camera, u might get 2-3 pics inside and that's it. Just roam around & take pics from outside, that'll do.

Amazing experience. This was my first desert safari ever and it turned out to be exceptional. From the start of our journey every experience was incredible. The camel safari, the stay, stargazing and a little bit of night safari all were exceptionally good. The ambience of the camp along with the cultural touch was binding. The hospitality of staff was very nice and the rooms were also very comfortable and gave all the peace that was needed. It was a good balance of adventure and serenity. Highly recommended!

The whole tour was well-organized, comfortable, and perfectly timed to capture the true spirit of the Thar Desert. The trip started with a hotel pickup and our first stop at Kuldhara Abandoned Village. There was no guided explanation, but the place itself felt mysterious and atmospheric — especially since we happened to see a film crew shooting a movie there! It added a surreal touch to the silent ruins. Next, we drove to a beautiful oasis in the middle of the desert. The contrast between the golden dunes and the greenery around the water was stunning. After a short break at the camp, we began the most memorable part — the camel ride. The local camel handler was amazing — friendly, patient, and very talented with the camera! He helped take incredible photos of us riding into the desert as the sun slowly set over the dunes. The view was breathtaking, with the entire sky glowing in shades of gold and red. After returning to the camp, we enjoyed a delicious vegetarian dinner along with traditional Rajasthani music and dance. The performers were full of energy, and the atmosphere was lively and festive. The tour includes hotel pickup and drop-off, camel ride, dinner, and the cultural show — all at a very reasonable price. Everything ran smoothly, and the staff were genuinely warm and hospitable. We had a wonderful experience on our desert tour. The tour started with a visit to a deserted town and an oasis. Both nice to see but not very special, the real action started when we arrived in the desert. 'Uncle' took us on a 1,5 hour camel ride through the desert. A bit uncomfortable at times but the ride itself was beautiful. After the ride we arrived at the campsite, the boys cooked dinner for us and we got to spend the night under the beautiful stars. The beds are slightly uncomfortable so be warned, but overall we really enjoyed our stay. Jeetu, Abhay en Nepal took really good care of us! And nothing beats a sunrise from your bed in the desert!

A truly once in a lifetime experience! We opted for the 2 night desert safari and it was a magical experience! We would highly recommend going with The real desert man Safari for this type of trip as the staff were all so wonderful. They employ staff from local villages to support them and they also seem to look after the camels as they allowed for regular rest breaks and they had plenty of access to water and food too. The whole experience was perfect and they went above and beyond by getting me a birthday cake on our 2nd night to celebrate as a surprise! Food and beds were perfect too, and all you needed for a night under the stars! Would thoroughly recommend!

Had an amazing time on the overnight camel safari and sleeping under the stars. They are well known within Jaisalmer and respected in the community which was very assuring. We were able to reschedule our Safari due to weather which was good. Easy communication via WhatsApp. We went out via Jeep to Kaldhara village which was very interesting. Then met up with the camels (run by a local camel man) who were healthy and well looked after. The camel ride was 1.5 hours (so prepare your thighs with some pre stretches) and was a beautiful way to go through the desert to the camp. When we arrived at the camp there was chai and pakora ready for us and we got to relax as dinner was prepared. The bedding was surprisingly comfortable (although still basic) and it was absolutely stunning to sleep under the stars. We woke up naturally with the sun and they prepared a wholesome breakfast before we set out for another camel ride back to the jeep. We didn't see any other tourists, only some local herders and it felt very non-touristy which was good. Note that due to climate change the desert is less dunes and more sparse vegetation - but we did camp on the dunes. Also, there are no toilet facilities (obviously) so bring toilet paper/plastic bags. Overall it was a once in a lifetime experience that was fantastic and was a highlight of our India trip!

Mandir Palace is where the current royal family of Jaisalmer, including the prince, resides. Though not entirely open to the public, certain parts of the palace are accessible and absolutely worth visiting. The intricate Jaisalmeri architecture carved in golden sandstone is at its finest here—you’ll be amazed by the perfection and beauty of the design. The palace also houses a heritage hotel that offers a touch of royal hospitality. It’s a serene and quiet place, with a museum inside that’s definitely worth exploring.

Good architecture, but old items are not very well places and protected from weather, as you can see in pic. After watching Patwa Haweli, i didn't like it. But every place is special, so visiting it is not a bad idea.

I had a very disappointing experience visiting this place. The entry fee is ₹160 per person, which is quite high considering what’s actually accessible. Most of the doors are locked, and you’re not allowed to see the interior of many areas that are supposedly part of the tour. What made things worse was the rude and unprofessional behavior of the watchmen and staff. They were not helpful at all, and treated visitors with disrespect, which is completely unacceptable—especially at a historical or tourist site. This place clearly survives on its name and heritage but doesn’t respect tourists or provide value for the money charged. Locals are not allowing to take photos from outside,I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone unless there are major improvements in how visitors are treated and what access is allowed.

One of the best places for food in jaisalmer. We went for dinner and sat in the open terrace, ambience is awesome, it's just directly under an open sky, food is tasty and rates are quite reasonable. You can see the jaisalmer fort from this place. Ample parking is available outside.

The Chicken 65 was drenched in black mustard seeds — not just a bit overdone, it was a full-on assault on the taste buds. Absolutely inedible. Whoever thought that was a good idea clearly has no clue how the dish is supposed to be made. As for the nachos — don't insult your customers by dumping tomato ketchup and calling it salsa. That’s not fusion, it’s just laziness and zero effort. This place has officially killed any curiosity I had about their mutton dishes. If you can’t get basic starters right, I’m not risking anything else. Worse than anything I’ve had in Jodhpur, Bikaner, Udaipur — even Jaipur street food joints do better. Food and ambiance is good. Can spend quality time as family as well as couples. Prices are on higher side. City view is awesome. Parking can be an issue during high footfall. Important to mention- the seating is on a platform with mattresses. But the wall height is too low. Be very careful with children and there is no protection fence or grill on the outer edge of platform.

No quality in food and very disappointing service. I visited this place today with my family and relatives after reading a lot of hype and reviews. Firstly, we had to wait for almost 20 minutes before anyone came to take our order. The view was good, so we spent that time clicking pictures of each other. After placing an order for pasta, wood-fired pizza, and chicken, we kept waiting for a long time. Even basic things like water were not served, and I had to get up and bring it myself. For every single basic item—tissues, plates, forks—we had to get up and fetch them on our own. Honestly, it would be better if the restaurant simply put up a “self-service” board. Now, coming to the taste of food: the pizza was hardly better than a chapati, yet it cost us ₹650. The pasta, which is usually a favorite for kids, was left unfinished on the plates. I would strongly suggest the owner to work on improving both the service and the food quality, otherwise, there are plenty of much better options available.

I stayed there for 3 days the rooms are neat n clean and they provide desert safari the scene is just rememberable for life.

Food quality is awesome. At nominal prices. The behaviour of staff is very polite. Actually this is a hotel and we reached its restaurant around 11pm. Usually the restaurant closes at 11 pm but then also they welcome us and served us food with no compromise in the quality. Their service is really awesome. And our experience in Jaisalmer is great. Place is situated inside the fort, right after entering from the main gate. Location is great but food was not good at all. We ordered white sauce pasta but the pasta had very bad garlic after flavour and was not edible. Its good place to just relax and sip coffee but not recommended for food.

I had cannelloni with veg and cheese. It didn't have tomato sauce but was very cheesy with a slight Indian flavour, I really enjoyed it. For dessert I had custard with mixed fruit, delicious. A little pricey but good portions and well worth it.

1. Overhyped place with pathetic stale food. Ordered pasta and ended up wasting time & money. Pasta was already precooked, they just microwaved it and served it. The menu is highly deceptive with fancy Italian names but the food is worse than roadside stalls. 2. Looting customers just bcoz they are located at the entrance gate of Fort. Charged Rs 40/- for a normal bisleri water bottle and surprisingly the MRP had been smartly erased. When asked the manager had no clue. 3. Avoid at any cost. Not recommended at all.

Delicious food prepared by chef Prem!! We had 3 meals there and the whole family loved the food. The rooftop has a beautiful view to enjoy the sunset overlooking the fort and a pleasant air conditioned room for midday. Service was excellent and Prem adjusted the spice level according to each person’s taste. We loved it!

Such a pathetic experience in jaisalmer i reserved a table for me and my elder brother They ruined my evening. They can't served A sweet lassi in half an hour even there is only 5 guest in their restaurant then we asked how much time will they take then the sever said still 15-20minute to serve. I given the order 20:10 pm and then 20:45pm their server came to reconfirm that your lassi is (Sweet or Salty) please don't go to this restaurant

Great relaxing spot for breakfast and coffee. The staff is kind and service is quick. We had muesli yoghurt and coffee. The quality of the coffee is good (not Nescafé) and they do a proper latte. The muesli & yoghurt was also satisfactory and a good switch from local cuisine once in a while. View is also nice, and the place is not too crowded as it can only host about 20 people, which makes for a calm atmosphere while enjoying the views.

A Coffee Lover’s Dream in Jaisalmer We stumbled upon this gem on our first day in Jaisalmer, and after that, there was no question—we went back every single day. This place serves the best coffee we’ve had in India, and honestly, better than most in Europe. We tried a variety of drinks, from the Cafe The Hell with cardamom to a cinnamon latte and even an espresso tonic—each one was excellent. The vegan milk options were plentiful, but the real standout was the freshly made coconut milk—light, unsweetened, and worlds apart from the packaged stuff. The food? Equally outstanding. We had breakfast twice, and both times, it was exceptional. The vegan oatmeal with banana, cinnamon, and freshly shaved coconut was hearty and delicious, and the vegan pancakes? Absolute perfection. Made with puréed strawberry and banana, topped with fresh fruit (all rinsed with mineral water!) and crushed pistachios—so fresh, so flavorful, so good you won’t care that they’re vegan. Picture proof attached! Beyond the food and coffee, the owner was incredibly friendly, even sharing tips for our travels in Jodhpur and Udaipur. And let’s not forget the stunning view—we didn’t catch the sunset from here, but I can only imagine how spectacular it must be. You don’t have to be vegan to appreciate the brilliance of this place. It’s a must-visit in Jaisalmer Fort—a true gem!

Highly recommend trying their saffron coffee, the speciality its known for. The best time would be to visit in the evening so you can glimpse a sight of the greatest sunset views you will ever witness!

Salim singh ki haveli is located in main jaislmer city & nearst Patwon ki haveli. Salim singh was that person who ruined kuldhara village . Salim haveli is pretty & Haveli looks like beautiful and have many "jharokhe" Per person ticket rate- 100 ruppes. I visited in the morning of this haveli & enjoy outside view of salim singh haveli. This is the 3rd most famous haveli in the jaislmer. This is fully coloured with yellow 💛

It's a marvel of architecture on sandstones. But the sad part is, you cannot enter inside the haveli although there is a board saying you can. Locals say someday it opens and someday it remains closed

DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY AND TIME!!! This place is by far the worst spot I visited while in Rajasthan. One would think taking 100rs as entry fee would come with some maintenance of this place.. but no, as you can see in my photos, this place is an absolute dump, trash and rubble everywhere. Not worth anyone's time.

It is one of the popular haveli in Jaisalmer. It is located right in the center of town where it's impossible to reach by car. Auto Riksha or walking was the only option. it was built in 19th century by Salim Singh, then Prime Minister of Jaisalmer. It is an excellent piece of Rajasthani architecture. Intricate carvings on walls and balconies are worth seeing. It's better to take a guided tour to understand the rich history behind it. It's open from AM to 6 PM and entry fee is Rs.20 for Indians and 100 for foreigners.

Avoid This Place – Save Yourself from a Bad Experience Jaisalmer is full of beauty and history, but visiting Salim Singh’s Haveli might be the only negative experience you have here. Why would you even want to visit? The haveli is supposedly famous for its unique architecture—no cement construction—but now, there's visible cement work, ruining its original charm. In reality, it feels more like ruins than a heritage site. Just look at the pictures. If you're feeling charitable, take the ticket and admire it from the outside. But do not go in, or you risk encountering the exceptionally rude guide. A review from two years ago already mentioned his attitude and unfortunately, nothing has changed—neither his behavior nor the neglected state of the place. Clearly, the owner isn't bothered. Skipping this place isn’t about saving the ₹100 (also 20 for taking pictures) entry fee. It’s about keeping your Jaisalmer memories positive. Do yourself a favor and visit other, better-preserved sites instead.

Do not go there or pay anything to enter!! It is pointless!! Old building with nothing to see! Only two floors opened and full of dust and dirt. And clothes of people living there probably! The funny thing is they ask to pay beside 100rp each to pay 20rp for photos or 50 if you want take video. While there is nothing to photograph there. Beside photos included are not true.

I seriously dont understand the reason behind the 4 stars.. there is nothing to see inside and on top of that it is super dirty. Building looks good from outside but inside there is nothing at all to see. They are charging 100rs per person (which is super expensive considering the condition of building) and extra 20rs for clicking pictures, but the joke is that there is nothing to see or click pictures inside. Also, the guide is not very welcoming. After paying 20rs for clicking pictures, when I started clicking pictures he stopped me saying that it is not allowed. I am confused for what did I pay those 20rs for. Anyways, I managed to click few pictures which will give you a clue on why to avoid this place. You can better visit other places in Jaisalmer rather than wasting 100rs here. You can see this buidling from outside. 😊

When you visit the tazia tower beware about the 5 star hotel near by. The security guard will direct you to the hotel and the very small museum attached to that hotel. They change you like hell for the tickets. There's nothing inside the museum so you will regret. Do not fall in that trap.

They don’t let you go up the tower. However, they have built a small museum inside it. Nothing so brilliant but not bad either. If you are free – just have a look. However, its well maintained, nicely kept and well managed.

It's known as Badal Mahal here. The tower is beautiful to look at. This old palace now has been divided into 3 parts. Palace for Royal Family to stay, Luxury Hotel and a Museum. It's very disappointing that visitors are allowed nowhere near this tower structure. Entry fee of ₹160 is pretty high for a small Museum. There are some very old photos, documents, telegraphs, old utensils etc. There few things which are very interesting. One of them is Silver Chair and Silver Bed. Problem is that it has not been maintained and it has turned black. You won't recognize the silver chair and bed until someone tells you that. Second thing is battery operated small car for children to drive gifted to the prince in the 1930s.

Be aware you cannot enter and climb on this tower. Even if you buy the ticket for mandir palace they will not even allow you to go to the second floor since it is reserved to hotel guests. Even from the courtyard outside guards will stop you from taking shots to the tower. A total scam.

It's an excellent palace with a Heritage hotel part of it. Amazing architecture must visit. One part is closed and one part is hotel. Other two parts which is accessible to tourist is named as Jawahir Vilas and Janana Mahal. However they give common entry ticket in the name of Mandir Palace which is hotel also. You may look for Tazia tower name but that is not written anywhere. Don't know why.

Pathetic hotel. The location is bad. Rooms are smelly, dysfunctional heater, even television, no toiletry provided and highly over priced. Their uploaded photos are all deviating. The reality is fast more worse. The staff is untrained, even the room privacy is compromised. The toilets smell bad. Flush doesn't work properly. Horrible experience.

Worst experience ever! First of all, rooms have bathroom inside with a divide wall that is not full which is disgusting. No mirror inside the room, only in the bathroom, which is fogged up and you can't use that to get ready or put makeup. They will coax you into taking package for desert safari and stay in desert for a night... Big hoax... You can avail it for lesser price outside, jeep safari u can avail outside for 1000 for a longer time and camel safari for just 100. Try ranau sand dunes instead of sam sand dunes for safari... It's less crowded and you will get worth your money... You can reach tanot by your car if you have... u can get pass for tanot, it's only filling car number and aadhar number, bring your original aadhar card and it is sorted. Parking is okay near the hotel. Location of hotel is easy to find. Hotel service is worst. Food is bad, tea is bad as well. Hot water facility is not available 24/7. We wanted to get off hotel by morning 5 am for our next plans. We did inform them previous day but they didn't provide hot water. I kept calling but even after an hour did not get hot water. My plans were delayed and ended up cancelling some. And moreover it kept me upset the whole day! One the service personnel criticised me not knowing hindi when I asked for wifi password. If you cannot accommodate non hindi speakers then please put a notice as well. Managers were good but the room service boy had a lot of attitude and all this problem occured. Please teach the boys about customer service.

The hotel rooms were clean and hygienic. The staff was very helpful in providing the auto facilities for us to travel within the city and for shopping. The food was very good and clean with a pretty view on their rooftop restaurant. The overall stay has been very comfortable and good. Recommend to book here while you are in Jaisalmer to have a comfort stay and easy access to all the major tourist places.

Don't get fooled by the initial impression. The food is here is amazing. We tried jeera rice, rotti, dal makani and amazing chang (buttermilk a must try). All were amazing and quick service. Will recommend anyone to have a authentic rajasthan taste.

We were about to take a 6hour train and they prepared delicious meal for us, packed it and delivered to the train station. We were very happy with the service. Come and check yourself!

The friendliest people! They were so helpful with everything we needed. The rooms were beautiful and the beds were comfortable but the highlight was definitely the camel safari! The guides were so friendly; they shared stories about their lives and cooked the best food and there was only 4 of us from the hotel and our guides sleeping in the area we were. The restaurant at the hotel did a great breakfast and it was only a short walk to the centre of the town and the fort.

To be honest I'm used to visit sam dunes for many years but I never experienced the fun and comfort like this resort. What an outstanding night I enjoyed here. Desert jeep safari, camel safari, Delicious food, Amazing night folk program, Fabulous tent and services. This place is really a heaven for a tourist. Must visit destination. I want to give them more than 5 stars but google only allow to 5 that's why I'm giving them 5 but honestly it deserves more than as usual. Great experience and fun. Thanks for this memorable day

It was a good experience. Though we didn't stay at camp in night due to tight schedule but we had all the activities in evening. Jeep safari, camel safari followed by evening gala dinner. The place was beautiful and we enjoyed authentic Rajasthani folk dance + dinner. It is must go place.

This hotel is absolutely worst in my whole life, owner was so rude & arrogant. Once I was changing clothes and this person came inside without knocking my door. And also he was giving priority to foreigners, was letting them to sit on the roof top but he didn’t my family to sit there, after their party , it was around 1pm, he knocked our doors and said now you can sit on the roof top. There we had also paid for the room, but this person didn’t let us . My brother once went outside around 9:30 pm for food and came around 10:45, but this man Raghuvendra Singh (owner) didn’t open the gate, saying that foreigners are getting disturb, stay outside. We had a fight and after that he opened the gate. Guys please please please don’t book this stay, this man is not a good person. G hi e was treating us like we didn’t pay for our stay. Please book other properties, there are a lot of friendly properties near by this stay, please dont Come to this one

“Amazing stay, superb location, reasonable price !!!” We stayed there for two nights. It was really a lifetime experience for us to stay inside the fort. The view from the room's balcony was mesmerizing. You can see the whole city from your own balcony. But for that you need to choose the room's with balcony. Other than that, rooms are clean and beautiful as well as the toilets, the owner is a very humble and helpful person. He can arrange your desert safari or camp by himself. I strongly suggest to book your desert safari from the hotel owner Mr. Raghuveer Singh. There are many scammers out there. So booking the desert safari from the hotel will be safe. You can visit the entire fort by walking from your hotel. It will be the 'icing on the top' of your Rajasthan tour. Highly recommended !!!

We had a wonderful stay at Ideal Guest House! The room was beautiful, and there is a very pretty rooftop from where you can see all the city. We also went on a desert tour and it was amazing: the staff took care of us and the night under the stars has been an experience that I will bring in my memory forever. The following day, even if we had already checked out, they allowed us to have a shower and invite us for a chai tea! Thank you for all the recommendations and the care you gave to us, it has been one of the best experiences in our travel around India!

Nice boss and staff. They are friendly enough to entertain us. Treated us with welcome coffee and goodbye. The boss insisted for the drinks. Their rooftop view is nice and good chilling area at night with cooling weather. However, do expect 10-15 minutes wait upon each request you ask from the boss. Overall, is a pleasant stay.

Owner Raghuveer ji will treat u like family, he allowed us to check in around 5am though our check in time was 11am which I really appreciate. Hotel is inside the fort which in itself is a different experience. Try to get the room's with balcony, rooms are clean. Rooftop view is pretty good. Staff was friendly, the manager himself became a guide and explained all the history about the Jaisalmer fort and suggested various places to visit. He made a tasty and fresh breakfast for us. The room was clean and hygienic. Felt like a second home there.

The food at Pol Haveli was absolutely delicious. We loved the breakfast pancakes, masala chai, and the curries (particularly palak paneer and paneer tikka masala). We had over half a dozen meals here and all were delicious bar none. Highly recommend.

Decent hotel with good Fort view from the hotel roof top but the hotel room looks very old and the wall insulation is not good so it really gets cold at night inside the room so be well prepared if you are planning to stay in this hotel as there is no heater facility and no kitchen available so food has to be ordered and quite expensive. However the taste is good.

Room mahal hotel is good. There is roof top restaurant which serves tasty veg/non-veg food. Owner of this hotel is very kind and helpful person and he also owns couple of camps at Sam. So you can plan your whole 2/3 days trip from Room Mahal itself. There are two room categories standard and deluxe. Make sure to check there photos or call owner before booking. Location is the hotel is walkable from the fort which makes it convenient stay. Overall I would recommend this to everyone who is planning to visit Jaisalmer

Went there on 25th December, 2021 with my friends. Located just opposite to the Golden Fort in Jaisalmer, the location is good for outing with their roof top restaurant serving a beautiful view of the fort but was closed due to covid pandemic. Rooms were not very good but decent to stay in for travellers. It is basically a house converted hotel. No lifts and no geysers though they serve hot water from the morning. Overall decent stay here !!

We didn’t stay at this hotel but we did a Jeep safari with Roop Mahal. Generally we were pretty satisfied with the service we got. We chose the non touristic safari where the guys took us to the sand dunes which are 60km away from Jaisalmer city. On our way we stopped to a little village to have a chai tea and we meet adorable kids. Make sure to buy some chocolate for the kids if you decide to do this trip. They would be really happy. Afterwards we completed our trip to the sand dunes and that’s where the fun began. Got stuck in the sand couple times but the guys are experienced enough so this was really fun. At the end we met Lilu the cook, he’s really a good Cook and very clean. The food was really tasty and we were really happy that for once we were in a quite place and enjoying the beautiful views of the desert and the stars. Definitely worth to do this trip with Roop Mahal while you’re in Jaisalmer.

Worst Experience !!! Room.. ok. Hotel staff... BORN TO CHEAT THE VISITORS ! Me and my mother stayed there for 2 nights. On arrival, the manager said that a Bengali family (4 persons) is staying here and you people can join them for visiting the Sam sand dunes on sharing basis, it would be pretty cheap for you. They charged 1500 per head for this package. We asked for a discount but they refused. Still we agreed and went for the trip without having our lunch properly ! Later on our way, we got to know that the family too paid 1500 per person and they are doing all the sight seeing since morning. When we asked for the local sight seen in the same price they revealed their real faces to us. The way they talked to us was terrifying especially to my mother, who is so much senior to them. Afterwards, when my mother threatened them of filing a complaint against them in the police station.. the owner in his topmost voice said -"JO KARNA HE KAR LO" !!! He was convincing us by saying that they were 4 people and you are 2.. that's why we can't show you the local places. You should have come earlier to join that group if you wanted to do the local sights and the desert safari !!!!!!!! Does that make any sense ??? Are they our relatives that we book our tickets according to them ? What kind of sharing basis is this when one group is having all the facilities and the another one is be fooled. Also, they didn't disclosed the actual amount of the package which is to be divided.. Instead they are telling the amount on per head basis. On the day of our departure, the owner all of a sudden felt sorry for his behaviour and was giving us 500 rs as discount as if we are some kind of beggar. Obviously, we didn't touched it ! The city is beautiful, but the people here are making it a havoc.. cheating the tourists is their sole profession. Be careful when you opt for a package provided by the hotel.

I had a very disappointing experience here. I was asked to paint a mural and a signboard, which I completed with good intentions, expecting fair treatment. Instead, I was still charged for the room, even though I spent three full days working on their request. They claimed that providing meals and drinks was the “payment,” but is it really fair to compare food to my creative work? I didn’t even order the meals — he simply included me while he was eating himself. This is a completely different matter. In many countries, including India, artists are properly compensated for their work. It feels like I was exploited as a traveler for free labor. This experience left me with a very bad memory of Jaisalmer. I do not recommend supporting businesses that take advantage of travelers’ goodwill. I truly regret that a place full of good memories turned into such a disappointment.

I am a 50 y.o. male travelling solo in Jaisalmer with the specific intention of doing some astrophotography out in the desert. With that context, I only stayed in the fort one night, then was out in the desert for 4 nights. Mr Ba's guesthouse is located at a high point in the old fortress, right on top of the north wall. The location is excellent; you look out over the lower city from the cafe balcony, and along the steep city wall if you look past the neighbouring cafe. There appears to only be two rooms, so most of the time you can expect to have upstairs to yourself with all peace and quiet, with Mr Ba's office and cafe kitchen located downstairs. Rooms are safe and comfortable with all the necessary amenities, and Mr Ba was the soul of hospitality for the short time I stayed there. The location is in the corner of the fort, so you can enjoy walking all the winding streets and meeting the enthusiastic merchants along the way. Next to the guesthouse is a sunset lookout point over the low city. Inside Jaisalmer fort it would be relatively safe and very quiet after 10pm. In the busy daytime you will attract a lot of attention as a tourist. The citizens depend almost wholly on tourism and farming, so you quickly adjust to it. Highly recommended is to walk out to Vyas Chatri cenotaph at sunset, and Gadisar lake at the moment of sunrise. One big tip is this - Mr Ba's relatives can organise trips out into the deep desert, and this I would highly recommend. The frills are simple if those frills are what you want, or otherwise go completely into desert timing (there is no fixed schedule) desert planning (there is no fixed plan) and desert living (very simple yet all is complete). I will come back to stay at Mr Ba's place again in future, and make Jaisalmer my starting point to go into the deep desert.

An absolute gem inside Jaisalmer. ROOMS: I had a beautiful room with independent entranced. I ended up staying 2 more nights just because I loved staying time inside the fort and because of this room. The rooms are super affordable and so much better to rooms that are even more expensive there. I stayed in 2 different hotels before I came to this one. SERVICE: The owner and family are so lively and very accommodating. The food was absolutely fantastic also. OMG, their chai is next lever and served in large mugs. LOCATION: You will not find a better location. This place is perfect for a quiet night as it’s in one of the corners of the fort. I’d stay here again in a heartbeat.

The place is absolutely beautiful, Ba is renovating the place every year and the rooms are the cleanest I’ve seen in India so far, with amazing views on the city. It was also nice to be in a quiet place, inside the fort. The food is delicious and homemade. The atmosphere is very warm with nice exchanges with Ba. Bada Mahal is a nice place for clicking photos, but the weather was just okay during my visit. The place feels a bit overpriced as it is not very large and there are only a few things to explore.

Ultimate nostalgic monument. A must visit. There you see the Royal family history of Rajasthan. Not much update, you must see with your own eyes, it's a suggestion.

All tourist points in JAISALMER are at walking distance Use Google map wisely It is same as patwao ki haveli Thats why we didn't wasted our money on buying tickets It was clearly visible from outside too Even nearby there is a cafe Tito....sit there drink coffee and look at the architecture of badal mahal The entrance part is free to go in Just go in and click the badal mahal from there Still if you love to explore must go in. In jaisalmer you do not require any vehicles...if you can walk good then you are good to explore whole city within 4-5 hours

It is good place to visit, in jaisalmer infact whole fort is nice and full of tourists if u visit it in November to February. There are various shops and vendors, restaurants inside as well as outside of the fort. There are 2 view points from where u can see the whole of the jaisalmer city.

Not so great,few artifacts are worth seeing. Major part of it is now a premium hotel. Security keep bothering you and want you to leave as soon as possible. Arrogant attitude of security puts me off. Battery operated old car and cart are worth watching.

Facilities - Food (specially chai), lodging, entertainment (fire show, traditional rajasthani dance and dj) were upto the mark. Spent a great time there. If you're looking for a great place to stay which doesn't cross your budget then this place is for you. The great amount of hospitality shown isn't something that you get to see anywhere else.
