Chinese restaurant
This chinese restaurant is known for its pork bone tea, which is a rich and flavourful broth made with different meats and different vinegars. The restaurant also has banquet-style tables and an exposed kitchen, where you can watch the chefs prepare your dishes. Finally, the owner accepted my offer to buy almost all of the food remaining in the restaurant, which I enjoyed very much.
1. Very balanced soup, not too salty, not too peppery, not overpowered by herbs. 2. Pork ribs and veg claypots very nicely cooked. 3. Strongly recommend the steamed tofu. Best to whatsapp to book as the food may run out before 2pm.

Teo Chew Bak Kut Teh, Melaka: A Bowl of Heritage, A Taste of Home Some meals do more than just satisfy hunger—they bring comfort, nostalgia, and a sense of belonging. That’s exactly what you’ll find at Teo Chew Bak Kut Teh in Melaka, a place where tradition is preserved in every simmering pot of broth. Unlike the darker, herbal-heavy Klang-style Bak Kut Teh, the Teo Chew version is lighter, clearer, and elegantly balanced—a perfect harmony of rich pork essence, white pepper heat, and subtle garlic undertones. One sip, and you’ll understand why loyal patrons keep coming back. The Magic in the Bowl The broth here is nothing short of a masterpiece. Slow-cooked for hours, it strikes a delicate balance—flavourful without being overwhelming, comforting yet deeply satisfying. The pork ribs are fall-off-the-bone tender, absorbing all the goodness of the broth. Pair it with a side of you tiao (crispy fried dough sticks) to soak up every last drop, and you’re in for a treat. Side Dishes That Complete the Experience What makes the experience even better? The braised tofu, eggs, and peanuts, simmered in a savoury-sweet soy sauce that’s pure umami. And of course, no Bak Kut Teh feast is complete without a steaming bowl of fluffy white rice and a punchy chopped garlic and chilli padi soy sauce for that extra kick. A Culinary Legacy Worth Preserving What makes Teo Chew Bak Kut Teh in Melaka stand out isn’t just the food—it’s the heritage and dedication behind it. It’s a taste of the past, lovingly preserved for future generations. Whether you’re a Bak Kut Teh purist or just looking for a soul-warming meal, this is the place to be. So if you’re in Melaka and craving something deeply satisfying yet light enough to keep you coming back for more, this is your stop. One bowl, and you’ll understand why Teo Chew Bak Kut Teh is a timeless favourite.
Eric C — Google review
Very disappointing. I’ve had it a year or two ago, and it was still alright then—but this time, everything just fell flat. The soup was bland with an odd bitter aftertaste—completely missing the soul of a good bak kut teh. The pork ribs? Tough and dry. After one bite, I honestly had no desire for a second. Definitely not the same standard as before, and nowhere near what it used to be.
Taiji M — Google review
Had this for our brunch before heading back to SG, ingredients were fresh, love the kidney which has no smell and not overcook. Pork ribs were very tender. We love the soup, taste good and not too peppery for the kids. Pork knuckles and pork belly is good too, soft and braised very well. Will be back again 😊😊
Mel M — Google review
Our last lunch in Melaka before heading back home. We used to always have Hokkian BKT which is nearby but decided to try something new. A refreshing change, as the soup is slightly peppery but still retains its herbal core. The pork ribs and ingredients were great, pork belly in claypot tasted soft and tender. A note to self though to order white rice instead of yam, which I feel will give a better taste of the soup and other dishes.
CK W — Google review
herbal bkt served in clay pot in an old-school coffeeshop. time seems to have stood still :) pork belly pot sliced thin and very flavourful
Adrian N — Google review
The service is good & quick, the soup is served boiling but if u put the soup into the rice it will tasted slightly bland. The youtiao is crunchy. Overall good.
Mclln_Xm — Google review
Braised pork, fried potato leaves and kidney soup are very tasty. I find the traditional bak kut teh abit salty.

the star for the vege. no yam in yam rice. dry bak ku teh tasted like mala hot pot. like whatttt. even the soup bak kut teh tasted different. the pork belly too much fat. boss please do some R&D. 😐 seriously like what did i just makan. jelak after taste. 🫠🫤 RM97.50????
Teoh X — Google review
This shop was very famous during my childhood time, talking about 20 years ago. Once awhile they change owner about 6 years ago, the taste was bad then I didn't eat there many years. Today I came to give a chance and noticed they had changed owner. Now the taste is great. Soup is thick and the yam rice is a must to eat with their bahkuteh!
Ho P — Google review
My mum said she definitely won’t be coming again. Free also she won’t be coming. That’s enough said. The dry bkt taste is almost like mala hotpot base without the mala. I added pork belly for additional rm20 (three layered) but the fats to meat ratio is 80-20 (?!). Pls see photo attached. Rm 97 for two pax of soup bak kut teh (add on tau hu pok and enoki and add on pork belly) and one pax dry bak kut teh, three pax yam rice that does not have any yam. That’s why nowadays no much patrons.
CiXian T — Google review
Bak Kut Teh at RM 10.00 with the basic ingredients, not worth the money paid. Only 1 buttom mushroom, 2 pork balls and a bit of pork meat and bones.
Honeybear — Google review
Revisited this bkt place after so many years… taste wise will be more heavier and goes well with the yam rice. Now’s there’s a young lad cooking passionately. Kudos and keep it up.
Steven L — Google review
Such a nostagic place for me🤩 The bak kut teh is so good with affordable price✨
Alx _ — Google review
Tastes is so so so only, not like last few year, changes boss ald but names still the same.. overpriced but nothing special. small portion. Price for 1 pax but the portion seems like much smaller than other bak kut teh in the area. N the owner will ask for add on others things, at last come out the price will make u surprised. The dry bkt is oily n like toucu bak. Owner pls go try others ppl dry bkt then just sold. Places is dirty n very messy. No wonder every weekend passby see no ppl n car. Mlk ppl will no visit again n only others outside visitors see on fb all is Owner advertise themselves bullsith.

Ah Lang Bak Kut Teh in Malacca is a beloved spot among locals, known for its affordable prices and distinctive flavors. This bustling eatery draws crowds during brunch hours, particularly for its standout dishes like tender pork trotters and succulent pork meat. Diners can enjoy generous portions of claypot BKT, featuring an array of ingredients such as pork ribs, minced pork balls, belly slices, black fungus, and golden mushrooms—all simmered in a slightly herbal broth that enhances the overall experience.
Claypot BKT with generous servings and friendly services. Place comes with baby chairs and napkins. In picture, BKT for two pax which comes with pork ribs, minced pork balls, pork belly, some black fungus and golden mushrooms. Soup is slightly more herbal, pork rib was soft and fell off the bone. Having them with garlic and chilli and dark black sauce is awesome.
M. Y — Google review
Nice herbal soup. Pork was tender too. For the 1person portion shown in the photo with tea for two, added meatballs and 1 yam rice = RM24 which was on the pricey side.
Yy X — Google review
A bit disappointed, no liver, no tau kee. That's not the Malacca Bak Kut Teh I could remember. To be fair, the soup is thick. Other than that, didn't really enjoy. Quite sure there are better ones around Malacca. Don't think I will be back this stall.
Eric T — Google review
The taste quite unique, just price a bit expensive. No menu to refer, cause hard to order as you will not know the actual price.
See U — Google review
Nay, soup too bland and very salty. RM 17 for what is shown in the photo plus coffee - too pricey imo.
Xiang P — Google review
Nice bak kut teh there. Avaiable at early in the morning. Quite pricey, RM16 per person. Recommended to people who wanted have a heavy breakfast.

Great braised pork leg in a claypot. Great tasting herbal broth.
Bob T — Google review
One of the good bakuteh at Malacca. The broth is thick with some herbal taste. Served boiling hot and it is delicious to eat with yam rice. Meat portion is ok , served lean meat although specifically mentioned half lean half fatty. Price is slightly expensive, RM15.50 per person with Chinese tea. Otherwise, can consider having bakuteh here if you are around this area

Jonker 88 is a renowned dining spot in Melaka, situated on the lively Jonker Street. It's celebrated for serving traditional Peranakan delicacies such as Nyonya Laksa and Baba Laksa, along with an assortment of cendol, including the popular durian cendol. This eatery is a favorite among locals and tourists alike who seek authentic local cuisine in a bustling historical setting.
Stopped by for a bowl of cendol after a hot day walking around jonker. Managed to snag seats right at the storefront with fans blasting on our backs. Order at the counter, ~RM7 per bowl. Each bowl that came out looked consistent. Nice cendol!
Dq — Google review
I had to deliberate a fair bit before deciding on a rating here as I had two completely different opinions on the two food items I tried here: Nyonya Asam Laksa and Baba Cendol. The Nyonya Asam Laksa was great, it was really tasty and the sourness was just nice. The standard still remained equally good compared to ten over years back when I first tried it. However, the Cendol was a huge disappointment. It had no fragrance from the coconut milk or gula melaka at all. The standard of this was a far cry from that of the past. Seats are limited so expect to queue during peak hours. Ordering and collection is done via self service. Prices are honestly quite steep for the portion and ambience here. Overall, I wouldn't make the effort to queue but I may still return for their asam laksa if there is no wait.
GG K — Google review
Taste: 3/5 (Overall rating, Chendol + Laksa) - 5/5 for Chendol itself Service: 4/5 Atmosphere: 4/5 Affordability: 5/5 Would I come back: Yes! It a self-service ordering system. Queue for seats and go to the counter to order & pickup your food. Probably the best Chendol I tried at Jonker Street. I tried a few places nearby(iykyk). Their gula melaka is so rich and thick and their green worms had a bite to it! The coconut milk was decent as well! Would come back and eat this again and try their Assam Laksa. I am not a fan of Laksa, to me their Laksa was too spicy, no lemak taste at all. And they did not use the thick beehoon but used thin beehoon itself, which I feel, does not go well with the Laksa. But their fried toppings were crispy and hot!
Reina T — Google review
This is one famous shop in Jonkers. No matter what time you visit, there will always be a queue. They’re know for Laksa and their Ais Kachang. Since the queue was long that day, the staff asked whether we came for Laksa or Ais. Once we said Ais, we were immediately told to go inside as we were allowed to sit on the bench. If you opted for Laksa, you will get seated at a table. Chose to get the Ais Kachang Mangga to beat the heat that day. The dish consists of shaved ice, red bean, coconut jelly, corn, some syrup, and sliced mango. It was so refreshing!! The portion was also quite hefty & can easily be shared between 2 people.
Maharani — Google review
The restaurant is always packed whenever we visit. This time, we arrived around 6 p.m. and, thankfully, there was no queue — but our laksa turned out to be the last bowl of the day. It was a memorable meal, with everything being absolutely satisfying. We’ll definitely be back for more.
Leng S — Google review
Ordered a Nyonya Asam Laksa and Iced White Coffee for lunch on Monday, no crowd at all, so I could get a seat directly. It’s a self-service for ordering and collecting food. The Nyonya Asam Laksa was nice enough. It was tasty, and the sourness was perfect. But compared to another Asam Laksa in Penang, I think this Nyonya Asam Laksa could put more garnishes like lettuce and red onion.
Cynthia F — Google review
Food = 2 / 3 stars Service & Ambience = 0.5 / 1 star Value = 0.5 / 1 star We came here before many years ago. A man welcomed us in, and mentioned that it's last order. According to the sign inside the shop, they are open until 6:30pm, but seems like that was extended, at least for today, or the sign was outdated. I ordered cendol (RM7), while my wife ordered asam laksa with fried fu chuk (RM15). Cendol was OK, but asam laksa not so nice. Spicy but not fragrant. The fried fu chuk was good. There is not much service to talk about, since it's mostly self-service. Place order at the counter, and bring the food to tables by ourselves too. Prices too expensive for the quality of the food presented. 3 stars.
Alshane — Google review
The laksa is really one of the best I've had. The Gula melaka ice kachang is also amazing. Loved it very much. Will go back again! Wish they accepted card, it's a tourist hotspot after all.

Baba Low’s @ Tranquerah is a hidden gem that offers authentic Baba Nyonya cuisine in Melaka. The restaurant is known for its must-try dishes such as nyonya laksa, udang masak lemak nanas, telur cincalok, and nyonya cendol.
Came here for a quick laksa and pai tee for the rain, totally worth the stop. The laksa was very flavourful and aromatic idk why alot people have been complaining? But tbh it's still way better then many restaurants across melaka. As a local this place never disappoints and its worth a visit if you're in melaka.
Kashi — Google review
Cendol- ice melt within the minute mark and turn to a brown desert soup with burnt sugar melaka. Tau Kwan- burnt charcoal smell. Like a smelly tofu with watery red sauce. Nyonya Laksa- Serve hot and that’s about it.
H Y — Google review
When you see only foreign workers handle the “restaurant” you can tell about the quality. Food are disappointing as in Nyonya heritage. Curry laksa taste like normal soup added Smokey sambal, did not taste any fresh santan in it too. Cendol can taste gula Melaka, but not much condiments only those green chewy thing inside. Know this place operates for years but foods are getting worst. This will be the last visit from us.
Godis C — Google review
Many websites recommended this place for nonya laksa but honestly me being an honest reviewer, this place does not deserve much credits. Laksa was so and so and I had to pay 8.50 for it. You can add on coffee for 1.50 only if you order one of the few items but that didn’t taste good as well as I am a true coffee lover.
Karthik S — Google review
I've been coming here reliably for breakfast during Malacca trips spanning 15+ years. What I found on this Saturday morning, arriving before 8 am, was unrecognizable: no cars where parking was always scarce (Alarming sign #1). An empty dining area, something I'd never witnessed at that hour (Alarming sign #2). Just one other table joining me, instead of the usual rapid crowd (Alarming sign #3). Adding to the concern, foreign workers were running the place, replacing the long-standing local team – a change reviewers link to diminished quality. The photo is what food remains! Really bad.. ! Heartbreakingly, another cherished food haunt is gone. I won't be back
Apple S — Google review
Food here really shiok! The nyonya laksa so lemak and fragrant, every bite full of flavour. The mee Siam basah got that nice balance of sweet and sour, super appetizing. And the pai tee crispy and fresh — confirm must try! Place got nice old-school vibes and the staff also very friendly. Will come back again for sure! 😋

Ah Hui Bak Kut Teh is a popular eatery known for its delicious yam rice that has left a lasting impression on many visitors. The restaurant offers a variety of dishes with light flavors, reminiscent of homemade food. It's easy to order in Bahasa Indonesia, and the staff can suggest menu items based on your preferences. The herbal, non-peppery bak kut teh is a standout dish here, and the sliced liver retains its soft texture even when soaked in the hot soup.
Tried Ah Hui before Covid-19 and we loved it but didn’t take note. But, this time round we're wondering whether this is the same Bak Kut Teh that we had years ago. After seated and looking around the dining area, we recognized the surrounding and confirmed this is indeed the same place. I am a picky eater & budget traveler by express bus from Singapore to Malacca. This is my always go to whenever I visited Malacca for the past 10 years. One of my favourite Herbal Bak Kut Teh in Malaysia. The herbal soup's fragrant & taste just right without an overpowering experience. Best served with yam rice. The taste has been consistence all these years. Tried some others around this area within walking distance, this is still the best.

Nice and flavourful bah kut teh. Also have a variety of other dishes.

Went on Hari Raya that few days. Sold mainly Bak Kut Teh and Zi Char dishes. Only two staff working at that time and dishes took a while but it wasn’t too long 👍. Somehow the Zi Char was nicer than the Bak Kut Teh. 5 Star recommended.
Jaren K — Google review
We came here based on recommendation by my parents. It is very easy to order in Bahasa Indonesia. They could suggest the menu based on your preference. All dishes are lightly taste, which feels like home made food. I loved their tofu the most among all menu that we ordered. Definitely should try their special bakkut teh on next visit.
Yasmine F — Google review
If herbal, non peppery BKT is your type then this is a right place for you. Glad that they didn’t overcook the sliced liver, the texture remains soft even when it was soaked in the hot soup. Eatery is a little warm despite the ceiling fan, started perspiring halfway through our meal.

Would recommend the signature curry fish head, red wine chicken and bak kut teh. All the meat was tender and flavourful. Friendly staff and delicious dinner.
Rennes L — Google review
Rich and fragrant soup, had a slightly creamy feel to it. However, pork ribs were rather tough. Fortunately, this was mitigated fresh garlic which went very well with the pork ribs and sweet soy sauce. Approx 15 RM for each claypot.

This Nyonya restaurant is just across the street from our hotel, within walking distance. The decor is chic. We had a wide selection of dishes, and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves ordering several classics. The food was delicious and the prices were reasonable. Highly recommended.

First time dine in here. The food was amazing. My two fav choice were ikan nyonya and ulam bendi. For bendi, the smbal on top was amazing. While the fish got the balance taste of sweet and sour. Highly recommend this two. Since its was crowded so waiting time a bit crazy but trust me its worth the wait.

I recently dined at Atlantic Nyonya Melaka and had such a wonderful experience. The staff were extremely attentive and welcoming, they patiently explained the menu and gave thoughtful recommendations, which made us feel well taken care of. We tried the fish assam, sweet potato leaves, and sambal sotong (i dont really remember the menu’s exact name). Every dish was superb , full of flavor, perfectly balanced, and authentically satisfying. The assam fish had the right tanginess, the vegetables were fresh and well-cooked, and the sambal sotong was just the right level of spicy and aromatic. Overall, we were very impressed and left completely satisfied.

Tried the pineapple fried rice and sambal chilli okra. The fried rice was beautifully served in a pineapple, with a tangy-sweet flavor that’s quite different from the usual ones I’ve had. The sambal okra was really good—fresh, spicy, and flavorful. Overall, a nice mix of presentation and taste!

We were very surprised this Nyonya restaurant is pleasantly nice…food is fantastic with a variety of choices. Waitress all knowledgeable and pleasant to talk to. Servicing is fast and efficient. A place we definitely will come again.

Had an amazing dining experience at Atlantic Nyonya Restaurant! We ordered 8 different dishes, and every single one was absolutely delicious — full of rich, authentic Nyonya flavors. The food was wonderful and worth trying. It’s a little on the pricey side, but totally worth it for the taste and quality!

One of the more popular Perankan restaurant in the area but it’s quite touristy. They winner serve pork which can be a bad thing if you’re looking for authentic dishes. The food is quite decent with many variety and they can fit large groups of 10 too. Service is mediocre as they are very busy and quite cold. Overall it still isn’t too bad but don’t expect the best at the end of the day but good to still try at least once

Went to this restaurant with my husband to dine in. Since all the 4-seater tables were full, the staff asked us to share a table with strangers. But there were other empty big tables around! Quite disappointing, especially when we were already so hungry and just decided to go along with it. The place looks nice but honestly not very professional or well planned. Food was just ok ok only nothing great.

Calanthe Art Cafe is a popular spot known for its wide range of coffee options, drawing in visitors with its unique and aromatic flavors. Nestled within a small valley, this cafe stands out among the thirteen states of Malaysia. Its beach-themed design features pebble-filled flooring and wooden pathways, creating an atmosphere reminiscent of a leisurely stroll along the seashore while enjoying a cup of coffee.
Calanthe Art Cafe in Malacca is a truly charming spot that beautifully blends character, comfort, and flavor. The ambience is warm, artistic, and inviting—perfect for relaxing or spending time with family & friends. Their coffee is outstanding, offering rich flavors and great variety. The food menu is equally impressive, with the Laksa standing out as one of the best in Malacca—creamy, aromatic, and packed with authentic taste. From the unique decor to the attentive service, everything about this café makes it a memorable experience. A must-visit for anyone exploring Malacca.

Mmm. The service is ok only given they use QR scan for customers to take their own order. Only service is when they bring the food to the customers. Nostalgic deco and warm atmosphere, but the seating is not comfortable. Table is too close to the cabin stool. Food - nasi lemak is ok and I quite like it. However, the chicken chop is pretty bad on the meat. It’s not fresh. The sauce is too sweet… Drink - I ordered a state coffee but the taste of it doesn’t taste too local and very thin flavour. I’ll reserve my stomach space for other restaurants that offer way better food than here.

Stumbled across this cafe late evening and thought let’s sit down for a coffee. I was shown to a table by a very polite slim handsome young man who gestured for me to use the QR thingy….as I’m not that good with these modern ways I asked if he had a normal menu and hay presto he popped one on my table. After much debate I chose a strong dark coffee K03 and gestured to him I was ready to order. He easily took my order via his hand held device and within a short while the coffee arrived. To say I absolutely love coffee would be an understatement and this one was absolutely stunning, lush strong flavours but no bitterness. I will be back for another and enjoy some food to go with it in the next few days.

What's good for dinner? This place packs some real good dishes, be it enjoyed individually or by sharing. Ordered the Calanthe Laksa Noodle Soup, Curry Laksa, Signature Laksa, Creamy Curry Butter Chicken, Tom yum. Also a Western meal to add to our degustation. Interesting 13 States Coffee for your preferential enjoyment. Good ambience and apt for those who likes to photograph and share online.

An excellent place for a coffee break in the hot afternoon near Jonker Walk. We parked at a nearby open parking space and walked here easily. I enjoyed the cold homemade sour plum drink since I’m not into coffee and it was too hot for trying out hot chocolate myself. Family enjoyed our time relaxing here, which has a small indoor fish pond and plenty of retro kitchenware hanging on the wall. The crepe cake was fine while the waffle was small and unimpressive. Overall, a recommended cafe around Jonker area.

We dropped by this cafe for some coffee and nyonya laksa. The decor is very creative, a mix of retro and art. Chairs were comfortable and the staff were friendly and attentive. Coffee from 13 states of Malaysia are on offer. The Selangor and Kedah coffee was good as was nyonya laksa. A nice place for local coffee around Jonker Walk.

Went there during a weekday and didn’t have to wait at all. Tried their Laksa and it was good. Ordered the Kelantan coffee too and was aromatic and quite good. Our coffee and Laksa took some time to arrive though. But overall a great place for food and great ambience with antiques and old decos.

Loved the ambience of the place. It's filled with many collectable items. Rather eccentric, but I loved the vibes. Food was tasty. I loved my curry laksa. My nephew enjoyed his buttermilk chicken. Restaurant
Wild Coriander Melaka is a restaurant located by the Malacca River, offering a modern twist on Peranakan cuisine. It's recommended to dine outdoors after sunset when the river lights up. The pork-free establishment serves individual portions of dishes such as Laksa and Nasi Lemak with Beef Rendang, along with starters like Pie Tee and Fruit Rojak for sharing.
Wild Coriander is an extremely rare gem in Malacca we called home besides the Danang Novotel Han River Square and the Novotel Nha Trang Square in Vietnam Thank you for the heavenly hospitality, delicious, scrumptious, savoury, and delightful dishes. Beautiful dining surroundings with great ambience. The best compliment goes to the F&B staff of Marco, Carson, Phyo, Khin and the entire service team and wonderful chefs in the kitchen! It was a truly enjoyable Malacca trip for the last 4 days. Started with a memorable birthday lunch for my wife at Coriander and ended with a fantastic, delicious dinner with great hospitality from the Coriander team on the final day. It's truly unforgettable!! Thank you for the wonderful hospitality!

Nice atmosphere, with the bright coloured walls and paintings to the relaxing background music. Marco was our waiter, who was very chatty and fun. We ordered nasi lemak with chicken curry and the beef rendang. Both very enjoyable. For desert you have to order the house specialty, chendol. Best in Malaysia !!! After your meal, you an have a walk along the river.

Come here for lunch, to avoid the crowded during dinner time, don’t have to wait for table during lunch time you can always make reservation. Nice food, big portions, Nyonya food but less spicy. Many choices for both a la carte options and set menu for large group. Ordered 2 main course 1 dessert for sharing in a group of 3 persons. And we are so full. Nasi lemak special comes with 4 different kinds of rice so we get to try different varieties and texture of the rices, they are all perfect match with rendang chicken. The Acai behind mixes is also a perfect combination of the whole meal. Nyonya laksa is good too, spicy and sour that is so appetising. Soup texture is creamy and thick, the sambal given is also an additional point of the whole meal if you’re looking for spicier dishes. Lastly, cendol is sweet and salty make it a little different from the cendol outside. Very refreshing after having heavy meals. Overall, it is tasty and will definitely come back again for other dishes too.

Beautiful and cozy restaurant with delicious food (a bit spicy for me, but amazing!). Huge thanks to Carson for his warm service and helping us take photos, which made the experience extra special. Don’t miss the “Cendol” dessert! After the meal, the riverside walk behind the restaurant was the perfect touch. Highly recommended! 🌿

Can be quite busy so it is good to make a reservation first, otherwise you may need to wait for a table. We ordered (in order of preference): 1) Prawn Sambal, 2) Curry Sea Bass, 3) Wild Coriander Special (chicken rendang), 4) Nyonya Chap Chye. All were delicious (especially the prawn sambal). We also had the Sago Pudding, it is alright but I had better. Waiters can be busy but they try their best to serve you quickly.

Nyonya restaurant
Amy Heritage Nyonya Cuisine, located at 75 Jalan Melaka Raya 24, is a must-visit for those seeking an authentic Peranakan dining experience. Headed by renowned chef Amy Koh, the restaurant offers a delectable array of dishes such as ikan gerang asam, ayam pongteh, and udang lemak nenas. The cozy atmosphere and meticulously prepared food with rich flavors make it a popular choice among locals and tourists alike.
I’m not much of a Nyonya fan but this place has fantastic food. I’m surprised this place is not 5 star when it should be. The pie tee and fried chicken is the best in the country. I came all the way from KL to eat her food. Been eating here for the past 10 years. We ate until 3pm eventhough they close at 2.30pm. They were kind enough to not chase us out like other restaurants. I highly recommend this place!
Rafique M — Google review
Remembered having a meal at Amy Heritage Nonya Cuisine in Malacca some years ago, so when we drove pass that restaurant yesterday afternoon, we told ourselves we must make another visit (remembered it was good but somewhat forgotten the taste of dishes we ate). So this morning I sent a short message to the restaurant reservation number to make a reservation for lunch. Within 5 minutes, Oliver (son of Amy) replied to accept my booking. Great! Wifey and I arrived the restaurant just before 1pm. The external was a little run down (as should be since they had been operating for many years), the furnitures were old but everything was neat and tidy. Same old restaurant we knew. Oliver greeted us and led us to our table. Placed our orders quickly: Ikan Gerang Asam Udang Lemak Nenas Kangkung Belacan White Rice It was a pretty long wait for our orders to be ready. We kept ourselves occupied by browsing their accolades and watching activities within the restaurant. Oliver and the other serving staff were busy serving, meticulously clearing and cleaning used tables. Hmm…very hygienic. Our orders started to stream out after half an hour. Oliver apologized for the slow delivery of food. The Udang Lemak Nenas was uniquely wonderful. The gravy was so lemak yet not overpowering, in fact very appetizing. Six good size prawns with eight pieces of pineapple cubes in the rich but light gravy which I added to my rice “like soup”. I was literally spooning the gravy to drink. The Ikan Gerang was sourish and delicious. I normally don’t like sour food but this dish was so delicious. Three good slices of “steak cut” snapper fish (Ang Go Li) was used and it was so fresh! The Kangkung Belacan was just satisfactory (we later found out from Amy herself that her assistant cook probably didn’t follow her recipe strictly). Must say that our long wait for food was well worth it. Food served were authentically Nonya. Amy was very nice, she came out later to speak to diners and we had a long conversation with her. This 82 year old chef had kept herself well and very willing to share her recipes. We enjoyed our simple meal thoroughly and will surely patronize again whenever we’re in Malacca.

We came as company trip and the boss services is very good! When we text the boss also respond fast, when we reach the place we can able to eat within 10 mins (we reserve in advance). Love every dish especially the Ayam Pongteh and Lemak Ikan Asam. You can order all dishes which suitable for every taste. And the special thing is, we never see a huge bowl of cendol before 😂 The cendol is creamy with gula Melaka !

Nyonya restaurant
Cottage Spices Nyonya Restaurant offers a cozy and authentic dining experience in Melaka. The restaurant is adorned with charming tiles and floral tablecloths, creating a warm atmosphere. Known for its Muslim-friendly Nyonya cuisine, the establishment's assam fish dish has received high praise from diners. Despite a relatively simple menu with smaller portions, the flavors are bold and satisfying.
This was my second visit to Cottage Spices Nyonya Restaurant in Melaka, and once again, it was a wonderful experience. We went during dinner time, and although it wasn’t very crowded, the atmosphere was cozy and pleasant. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. My husband and I decided to try some dishes we hadn’t tried on our first visit, and everything we ordered was delicious. The food was flavorful and authentically Nyonya. We also appreciated the personal touch from the lady boss, who came over to interact with us. She even offered us a new dessert to try, which was a lovely surprise — and it tasted great! We definitely plan to come back again whenever we’re in Melaka. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a warm, homey place to enjoy tasty Nyonya cuisine!

Cottage Spices is a home-run small business that is a must-visit if you prefer home-cooked Peranakan food. Their Telur Dadar Cincalok, Taufoo Kukus Bawang, Asam Pedas, and their Sambal Belachan, and their made on-the-spot Cendol Gula Melaka are simply out-of-this-world delicious! The restaurant setting is cosy, homely, nostalgic, and very relaxing. Every dish is made individually, so do expect to wait for a bit for your meals—but the wait is more than worth it once the food is in your mouth! Even the music is specially selected to create the utmost dining experience—the keroncong asli and langgam jawa tunes make for a wonderful lunch break or evening out! Staff are very friendly, helpful, and responsive, and create a beautiful dining experience for everyone! Will definitely return to try all the other dishes! Thank you so much!

Our must-go spot in Melaka—simple place, but the food never fails to impress. Lady’s finger with sambal belacan – first bite = (wish they sold the sambal in jars!) Ayam pongteh – always on our table. This time we also had prawns with petai + buah keluak ayam. A sweet aunty (staff) came over & taught us the “ultimate way” to enjoy it. Before heading home, we dabao’ed ayam pongteh & ayam kapitan (non spicy & kid-friendly). Guess what? Ayam kapitan is the new family fave. Pointed added - No “after-meal thirst” despite the rich flavors.

Had a great lunch. The restaurant is small but cozy. The servers are attentive yet not intrusive. Food taste is great, better than the so-called famous ones. Worth your trip here. Note, no reservation so be prepared to q or wait if you are coming during peak hours.
Ann C — Google review
Every dish was delicious - we exceptionally liked the omelette and the ayam ponteh. The otak was the least impressive, in my opinion. Unfortunately we couldnt try any spicy dishes since we came with kids. Dishes are quite pricey by Malaysian standards, but can be stomached by the Singaporean wallet.
Melanie L — Google review
Came here on account of the high reviews but our meal here was just decent. The Udang Lemak Nenas (RM48) was five prawns served in a spicy-sour assam gravy, atop a bed of pineapple. Great with rice, though the prawns weren't too fresh. The Telur Dadar Cincalok (RM15) was disappointing, just salty omelette with veggie bits. The chendol (RM8) was pretty good though. Overall, can't say I would be excited to return the next time I'm here.
Darren — Google review
We came to Cottage Spicies Nyonya on Puri & Sue's recommendation. Pineapple was my favourite so I ordered the Udang Lemak Nenas (fried prawn with pineapple and coconut) and I love the mix of taste. We also tried their Daging Rendang. The beef was tender and rendang has a strong spice flavouring yet not too spicy. We completed our meal with a vege and a dessert - Terung Sambal (chilli egg plant) and chendol (what else to eat in Melaka right?). I recommend you to try their Passion Fruit Juice also, which has a soury and refreshing taste. Roadside parking is available directly outside the restoran (Malay spelling of restaurant) but we walked over since it was just a stone throw away from our hotel - Imperial Heritage Hotel.

Food here was really good and tastes very authentic. Much better than the other touristy Peranakan restaurants in malacca, not sure why there aren’t more patrons. They only do walk ins but we didn’t have to wait at all and the food was solid and came quite quickly too. Buah keluak and cendol was very good!

Nyonya restaurant
Breakfast restaurant
Nyonya Delight Homestyle Cooked Food is a family-run restaurant located a bit away from the town, but definitely worth the trip. The Nyonya cuisine served here, especially the flavorful Nyonya Laksa, lives up to its "homecooked" name and is quite popular despite its outskirts location. The basic-looking stall attached to a wooden house offers dishes like nasi lemak, lontong, mee siam, ayam rendang and cendol.
Nyonya Delight in Malacca is truly a hidden gem and I mean that literally! It’s tucked away by the side of the road, and finding parking can be a bit of a challenge. But trust me, once you step inside and have your first bite, you’ll know it was totally worth it. The place gives off a warm, humble, almost nostalgic vibe, like you're stepping into someone’s home. And the food? Absolutely authentic. It genuinely felt like a lovingly prepared home-cooked meal. We ended up ordering quite a few dishes (as you can see!), and everything from the laksa to the lontong and desserts was spot-on. Let me just say: their Nyonya laksa was one of the best I've had; rich, flavourful, with just the right kick. Honestly, I dare say it beats many versions I’ve tried in other states. (Okay, don't come for me, but aunty’s cooking here was next level!) I’ve never been a fan of Nyonya lontong, but this one really surprised me. The flavours were well-balanced, and even the textures of the vegetables and rice cake were done just right. The desserts were also a highlight, sweet, comforting, and the perfect end to the meal. And the best part? Everything came up to only RM 54+; incredible value for the quality and variety. Plus, they have snacks you can buy on your way out, which makes it even more worth the trip. Highly recommend making your way here if you're in Malacca. It may be a little hard to find, but once you do, it’s a delicious discovery you won’t forget. I’m already looking forward to coming back!

Like the place, like the garden setting, like the morning sunshine that shine upon the food, it makes the food more delicious. Like the fried egg, fragrance. Overall is good place for people who stay nearby to come for breakfasts.

Absolutely love this place. Upon entering, we were greeted warmly. Ordered the Nyonya Laksa which was superb. You'll need to eat it with the sambal. Also ordered the Nasi Impit with Chicken Rendang. Asked for the breast meat and was surprised how tender the breast meat was. The rendang gravy is quite different from what I'd get from KL. Finally, we ordered the cendol and that too was a perfect balance of sweetness.
Joe C — Google review
It’s really a “hidden” place, small entrance and it’s located at housing area with no obvious signboard. Really kampung vibes, wooden house turned into a shop. Food taste generally ok and nice but not at the level of outstanding. I personally like it in the sense that I won’t feel its tourist food but rather authentic local food. People are nice and friendly. I came at late afternoon, and as we are in malaysia, of course the heat affect how the food bring joys to me.

Visited Nyonya Delight Homestyle Cooked Food and had a mixed experience. A huge shoutout to their Cencaru Fried Egg—it’s cooked on the spot once you order, making it a delightful cooking show. Highly recommend trying this dish! The lontong and Assam fish were above average, though not particularly standout. As for the cendol, it wasn’t quite to my liking—perhaps being used to Penang cendol set my expectations higher. The Nyonya dumpling is worth a try, but I found it a bit too sweet for my taste. The acar was average. It can get quite hot during lunchtime, but the friendly and attentive staff make up for it. Overall, a good spot for homestyle Nyonya food with some hits and misses. Definitely go for the Cencaru Fried Egg!

Nan Ko Bak Kut Teh, a Chinese restaurant recommended by a spectacles shop owner in Melaka Sentral, proves to be an excellent choice. The pork ribs, whether enjoyed in soup or dry form, are remarkably tender and flavorful. The soup is especially delectable while the dry version offers a burst of flavors. It's worth noting that they offer refills of the soup upon request. Furthermore, the staff is friendly and helpful, adding to the overall pleasant dining experience.

Came here based on Google ratings. It's pretty good. I see a lot of locals coming here. Food is tasty. The Claypot sesame chicken was particularly good. Only thing about the service is they hired quite a few foreigners who's command of English isn't that great, so there was some miscommunication which caused a bit of frustration because we had to repeat what we wanted to different people and they still got it wrong.
E — Google review
Free refill soup but when we asked for 2nd time refill, we need to ask many times (4 times to be exact) and finally beh tahan (cant stand it) so we took the claypot to the kitchen to get our refill immediately. 1st refill was very efficient though. Dry bak kut teh not very authentic. Very sweet taste. Soup bak kut teh is ok, very gao (thick). We asked for lean meat and they were not bad. Yam rice still ok, not very bad taste. Youtiao was good.

Such a warm place. Fast service, friendly staff and very reasonable price. One of the best bakuteh in Melaka I would say. Definitely worth coming over again. Went there twice. Each time I go, usually in a group. Cost approximately 20-23/person. Both the dry and soup bakuteh is worth trying. I'm not a fan of yam rice, the plain white rice is fragrant and nice.

The chicken and sotong were all perfectly seasoned with kunyit and deep fried. Nasi was well cooked. The sambal is not your typical sambal giling cili and garam, it is SAMBAL TUMIS! So goooood. Paired with their gulai memang sedap. Gulai dia berlemak and had a hint of laksa taste. Place was clean but a bit humid. Price was ok.

Food is simply awesome. Very generous portion.Good ambience, not crowded and clean.
Nisha N — Google review
Big portions, good environment and affordable price. Should come and visit ! The best ayam kunyit & buttermilk in town !!!
Nurdamia N — Google review
We had tried both Kunyit Ayam & Daging but personally, I like their Kunyit Daging(the daging was tender) with Kicap on steaming hot nasi kukus.....although I wouldn't mind if the kunyit flavour can be more. Just love kunyit, so much so that I've had this three days in a row.

Vegetarian restaurant
Nestled in the charming Taman Kota Laksamana area, Green House Vegetarian Restaurant stands out with its inviting white-themed exterior and a serene ambiance that sets the stage for a delightful dining experience. The restaurant offers an impressive vegetarian menu featuring both à la carte options and communal dishes, perfect for sharing with friends or family. Among the must-try items is their Nyonya Laksa, which promises to tantalize your taste buds.
Vegetarian restaurant that's serves great Asian cuisine. Being there last year and couldn't stop raving at how delicious the fried rice is and had been craving ever since. Thus this year is our 5th time returning to patronize the restaurant! Reasonably priced, and super yummilicious! Highly recommended to all my dear vegetarians friends!

Serving delicious VEGETARIAN traditional food. Huge variety on the menue, tried the "🐔 & 🥔 curry and spring rolls as well as their homemade 🍋 de which is super tasty 👌 without any added sugar! Place is recommended, seating is quite comfy & staff is helpful + friendly. Had to order some more chili/sambal tho to spice it up a little 😋. No problems tho, was served right away! Thanks 🤗! *28.01.2019 Little update ~ 2 years later, came back same wonderful service and delicious food Went with the veggie curry this time & as uppon request no sugar, dairy etc...made it vegan 🙏. Best place in town, highly recommended!!! Thanks!!!

We had a great meal here. Ordered two vegetable dishes, char sui pork and pumpkin fried rice. The menu is a lot bigger than most other vegetarian places in town so there's great choice - we also enjoyed how there's a large selection of simple vegetable dishes e.g stir fried chinese kale, so you can make it quite a healthy meal if you wish!

Visited back in Feb. Came here for dinner during my first night in Malacca. The place was half full when I arrived, so the restaurant had no problem accommodating me. The place is laid out like a typical Chinese Buddhist restaurant with Buddhist statues and other religious items. The menu is fairly extensive and pretty much spans the entire spectrum vegetarian versions of Chinese food. The drinks menu is sparse in contrast to the food menu though. Eventually I settled on an Assam Fish with rice and a sour plum juice drink. The fish meat substitute had an amazing slimy feel and impressive fish like crumbly texture, while the sauce was only slightly spicy and made a great accompaniment to the rice. The prices here are reasonable, though it is more than other vegetarian places in Malacca.

We loved eating here. It was one of the best meals we've had in Malaysia. We've found quite a few places serving all vegetarian food, but none of them have been as good as this place. I keep thinking about the meal! Try the butter fried pumpkin! And the fresh pineapple juice. And the crispy eggplant. In fact, fast for a couple of days before you visit and then order as much as you can.

Wow! Ordered two of the set meals (12R each) and a fresh juice (5R) and was SO impressed. The service was quick, the food was AMAZING and the prices are reasonable. This was probably the best meal we've had in all of Malaysia. The sweet and sour was perfectly weighted and the chicken* and potato curry was delicious. The curry reminded me of a Thai red curry (not too spicy coconut curry). *Chicken is actually a soya substitute. You have to go here!

Restoran New Lim Kee is a beloved establishment in Melaka, renowned for its rich and herbal Bak Kut Teh (BKT) broth that resonates with local palates. Unlike the spicier versions found elsewhere, this comforting dish has become a staple for many families seeking a satisfying meal. The restaurant offers an inviting atmosphere, perfect for gatherings or simply enjoying a cozy dinner after rain showers.
Every time we go on a trip to Melaka, we always make time to have dinner here. And before the meal, they always serve us some fruit with seasoning as an appetizer—it tastes really good too! Their tom yum is a family favorite—super tasty with a tangy, refreshing broth. The satay is delicious too, and I especially love the fried chicken wings. The staff are friendly, and the service is quick. Definitely a highly recommended place to eat!

Authentic local steamboat and dishes. Relax venue, windy with ample parking. Service staff are efficient. The fried onion with oil was super tasty in the steamboat soup!
Simon — Google review
Best steamboat in town? Wah, then I must be eating from the wrong town! 🤣 Price like five-star, but food smell like recycle oil — fish not fresh, meat taste weird, fish ball also lost direction. The only thing can save this place is the Hokkien noodles… maybe that one still got soul.
Why M — Google review
The tomyam hotpot was a delightful dance of sour and spicy flavors that did not disappoint. However, it was the fried noodles that stole the spotlight, leaving me craving for more with every bite. As for the side dishes, they weren't much impressed, so could be missed without much ado.
Austin A — Google review
Steam boat restaurant. Both Tom yam and chicken broth soup are very tasty and reasonable. BBQ also is attractive.
Ryo 8 — Google review
A fuss free no frills steamboat experience not too far from the heart of Melaka Sentral. Gotta say that both the chicken and tom yum soup bases were delectable with kinda a homely taste to it. The portions sizes were really reasonable and the prawns were fresh. Most of all the cut of pork belly was really succulent making u want to order more of it(15rm/plate)

Update RMCO. 1 Aug. We came here for dinner. The Thai BBQ stall has discontinued due to MCO's SOP Our popular place for family dinner when we celebrate occasions or just craving for a change. Top choice for us for a full filling steamed boat and thai stye BBQ food. Ambience is good and relaxing especially during year end or after an evening rain. Prices are affordable and very good for value for money. Parking may be difficult after 7pm. The owner and staff are friendly and helpful.

Hokkien mee + chinese tea RM 13. I think it's a bit expensive, as I have bought hokkien mee for RM9-RM10 from around melaka raya area before. Taste good though Ample parking lots in front of the shop
