Mexican restaurant
Restaurant
La Mexicana Restaurant is a simple eatery located in Newport, just across the Ohio River from Cincinnati. It's known for serving some of the city's best tacos, including options like tacos al pastor, barbacoa, carne asada, lengua, and sesos. Vegetarians can enjoy fillings such as seasoned pumpkin flower, corn truffle, hongos, beans and queso fresco.
What a great little restaurant. Have driven by it so many times but have never stopped in until today. Let me start by saying their chips and salsa are seriously slapping. I assume they are fried in house. So good. Decent amount of choice on the menu, lots of things with tortillas and then things like fish, tamales, menudo, etc Prices are very reasonable for the large portion sizes
Dale Y — Google review
A low key restaurant with a great menu of authentic Mexican cuisine. Ask the server is my motto, and I had tripe tacos, grilled onions with avocado, the flavor was amazing. Can't wait to go back.
Jim B — Google review
The service was great, and there are a few different dining areas to choose from and a grocery store to browse through. It's was so clean and the food was amazing and authentic! I had the alambre, which was delicious their portions are huge! Everything was perfectly seasoned exactly how you would want Mexican food to be seasoned! It's been a few days, and I'm still thinking of how delicious their salsa was!
Tonie S — Google review
Authentic Mexican "hole in the wall" restaurant. Perfect! Had a great lunch here with great tamales, chilaquiles, and other traditional foods. The sauces were made in house and packed both flavor and heat. Will definitely visit again next time we're in the area!
Susan B — Google review
Friendly little hole in the wall restaurant! The staff is great and the food is great. I've been to Texas menu times and I've had authentic Mexican food there. It's as close to being in Mexico as you can get! This is one of the few places this far north that creates food in this traditional manner. Great food, with a great atmosphere.
Pirate C — Google review
Incredible! We came in before a show, just down the street. Our server was a young gentleman with the sweetest demeanor. His laugh was infectious. I was so excited to hear they had coke in a glass bottle. We were going for nostalgia on this afternoon. On top of the pleasant staff, the whole vibe was nice. The food was phenomenal. Awesome birthday dinner & so affordable!
Amanda K — Google review
Great little Mexican restaurant. Came here for lunch and had tacos. They were delicious! Our server was friendly and attentive. Will definitely be back next time I am in town.
Bri M — Google review
A local bartender recommended this place and it was a great recommendation. The food is incredibly authentic and delicious. Service was excellent as well and they have plenty of seating. Portion size was great! The flag burrito was the size of a small child. Will be back.

Additionally, Nada participates in events such as taco week, where various locations offer $2 tacos throughout the week. Furthermore, the restaurant is located at 600 Walnut St, Cincinnati, OH 45202.
Went to dinner here solo on a Monday night. The place was pretty full and I got a seat at the bar. I had the non-alcoholic blueberry lemonade, the queso and the steak quesadilla. Everything came out super quickly and was really tasty. I would happily return.
Julia M — Google review
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Absolutely spectacular dining experience at NADA! The food was out of this world — every bite was phenomenal. The Brussels sprouts were incredible, the grapefruit margarita was perfectly balanced and refreshing, and the queso was hands-down some of the best we’ve ever had. The cauliflower tacos? To die for — bursting with flavor and truly unforgettable. As amazing as the food was, the service took our experience to another level. Our server, Jordan, was absolutely outstanding — the GOAT of hospitality, like Michael Jordan is to basketball. He made us feel taken care of in every way. And the hospitality didn’t stop there — the hostess, Myecia, had a full list of all the restaurants participating in restaurant week waiting for us as soon as we arrived, without us even asking. That kind of thoughtfulness and service is truly rare. We own our own restaurant in Lexington, Kentucky (Grounded All Day Café), so we know genuine hospitality and great customer service when we see it — and NADA has it all. Fantastic staff, spectacular food, terrific atmosphere, and great music. Five stars all the way!
Rock D — Google review
I'd say Nada has the best tacos in Cincinnati. Just absolutely delicious. All different flavors and nice combinations. You can get vegetarian cauliflower tacos or chicken tacos or shrimp or fish or beef. They're all delicious. And their fajitas and enchiladas are also outstanding. Just great food. And also a wide selection of wonderful alcoholic beverages. It's a lovely, beautiful atmosphere. Eating outside next to the sidewalk is very nice and comfortable. Inside is absolutely exquisite. Decorations are terrific. It's a fun, lovely place to take your family or friends out for a Mexican dinner.
Timothy M — Google review
The ambiance was amazing — we chose outdoor seating, and it was perfect for the evening with great lighting and music. The food was delicious — we tried the shrimp fajitas, chicken quesadillas, and enchiladas, and everything was cooked perfectly with bold flavors. The guacamole was super fresh, and the variety of salsas and dips made the meal even better.
Harishwar K — Google review
First time with my husband grabbing lunch here. We both agreed this was a great experience. The food was delicious, serving sizes were perfect, and the atmosphere was pleasant. Elissa was a fantastic waitress. She asked if we had any allergies and brought a separate basket of chips that weren’t cross-contaminated after I told her my husband is gluten free. She was attentive and super friendly—the servers can make or break a good experience. Pricey, but worth it for a nice treat every now and then.
Virginia B — Google review
The food was good. The service was ok however our waiter was a bit more tending to my friend in which he was being a bit flirty with and that was a bit annoying. He highlighted how my food presentation wasn't as great as my friend's dish. He was more interested in bringing her water than myself. Other than that it was ok.
King S — Google review
My cousin graduated from The University of Cincinnati and after the Graduation Ceremony we went to Nada. We sat in the private room upstairs and really enjoyed the atmosphere, the music and the service. We had a set menu and these were my favorite items: Starters: O.G. Guacamole, First Course: Brussels, Taco: Chicken Al Carbón and Dessert: Churros. I forgot to take pictures of all the food but it was amazing. The Server's were great and the food we didn't eat we took it home. If you have a large party, go to Nada to celebrate! You won't be disappointed.
Alonna D — Google review
An absolute gem in the Cincinnati area. It's not your regular Mexican place, rather an elevated experience at an affordable price. Their world famous braised chicken enchiladas are literally worth the try, a tiny bit of salty though, but would totally recommend. Loved their shrimp tacos and churros for dessert. Their margarita also is worth the try. The quantity of the rice and beans at first felt a tad less but as you start loading up the tacos, that quantity seems reasonable and no kidding, loaded with amazing flavors. The service is fast and the server, oh my god, so nice. Our leftovers were also packed by the staff, which was so convenient for us. The ambiance completely adds to your overall experience. Their washroom is a little tricky to find, which was a funny experience for me.

I always love to discover new gems around. We had dinner, we had the sampler, margaritas and chicken bowl. Everything was delicious!!! Our server was welcoming and friendly. The cool plus in this place is the unique decoration and design, it is really cool, I love it!!!
David O — Google review
I stopped in looking for some good Mexican food but found more of an eclectic twist on traditional fare. I had the empanadas and decided to stop there. They were ok but nothing to write home about. I found $6 each for a taco a la carte to be a bit more than I wanted to spend on one. The margarita was not very good either. The only thing extensive on the menu, was the prices. I’ll not be visiting this one again.
Kelsey D — Google review
We came for early dinner om Friday night. No reservations required. But if you have more than 3-4 persons, it's better to have reservations. The food is overall okay. Not that tasty in my opinion. I don't think i will come back. Tried it once and it's enough. Our server was too busy with other tables. The music was too loud and didn't go with the restaurant theme.
Boe D — Google review
Visiting the area for a show and stopped here before for dinner. Our waitress was excellent, the food & drinks delicious, and the space was very clean and pretty. Bring on a time constraint our food was fast and great deals with being there during happy hour. Great place to eat. Recommend the prickly pear margarita and the chicken taco.
Carrie K — Google review
Fridas might have the best chips and queso in Cincinnati. The al pastor taco was packed with flavor and had the perfect amount of spice. I would absolutely recommend trying one. The margaritas were also well balanced. We really enjoyed the food and would try it again.
Clark S — Google review
Been a few times now and the food has been very consistent, and good. The meat is good quality, and everything tastes fresh. Don’t miss the peanut salsa!

Went on a busy Saturday night, had reservations and were seated immediately. Food was flavorful and authentic, the empanadas and tres leches were my favorites! I can't wait to return!

Came in during happy hour and had the best time. Our server was kind, attentive and we got all of our times quickly! The spicy marg was delicious. I am always coming back for the brussel sprout tacos. You can’t go wrong with any of their salsas and this time we got them all. A fav of mine

Taqueria Mercado Cincinnati is a casual eatery offering classic Mexican dishes and flavored margaritas in a simple setting. Located in downtown Cincinnati, this spot is known for its delicious tacos served on steamed corn tortillas with various meat or veggie options like beef brisket, tilapia, shrimp, and Mexican sausage. The barbacoa taco is highly recommended, but the fried pork and shredded chicken are also worth trying.
Authentic Mexican food right in downtown Cincinnati! I found this gem when staying downtown for business. I had a Carne Asada plate. Plenty of delicious food. The meat, rice and beans were on point. Friendly service. The ambiance is great. A great place to try if you are interested in having some real and authentic Mexican food.
Rigo G — Google review
This was our first time visiting but it will not be our last. The service that Abner provided was awesome. He really seems to be a fine person and treats everyone with respect and attentiveness. The food and generous portions made the evening memorable. The taste of the meal was just perfect. I highly recommend Taqueria Mercado. Enjoy!
Mike S — Google review
What a fun spot?! Food was outstanding. We split the chicken fajitas and they were awesome. The chips and salsa were really good too. The salsa had some kick to it and some of the other 'samples' the server brought with the chips and salsa were delicious as well. Sat outside and that was a lot of fun. Love this place.
Derek — Google review
Delicious food! I love fresh fried chips. Their salsa with the chips were fabulous. I ordered Camarones a la Diabla. It was perfectly spicy!
Shannon C — Google review
I have been to Taqueria Mercado so many times. It is my local Mexican Restaurant and has been for 15 years now. The reason I finally thought to write a review is because today I was there for a busy Friday lunch service and they were having their soda machine replaced (switched to Pepsi for financial reasons). This also meant water and Iced Tea were affected. They gave all their bottled soft drinks (don't worry, they still have bottled Mexican Coke) and fruit juice based drinks for free. I had a hibiscus juice and it was good but I don't prefer sweet or carbonated beverages, so I'll admit I was not really happy but for one of my loved neighbors, I took it in stride. By the end of our service the manager had gone to Kroger and bought several cases of bottled water because he realized that problem. The food was great as always. Cheese enchiladas with red sauce are my favorite. Special Mercado (chicken and rice with cheese sauce and tortillas) when I need all the comfort food. But today I had a chicken taco as part of my combo and it was amazing. This is a business that cares and deserves your business.
Trisha W — Google review
Sat at bar for dinner. The drinks were good. The food was also good. I had the enchiladas. Although they were more like a soft taco than the traditional enchiladas I've had before. the staff was friendly and the service was good. I will be back next time I'm in the area.
John — Google review
Anyone that can’t give this place 5 stars hasn’t tried enough Mexican restaurants. Absolutely the best! The chips are so fresh and the best ever and combined with the salsa … Wow! The Margarita is amazing! Perfect blend and not too sweet. I can’t recommend this place enough!

Quick service but fresh food and very clean. Went on Tuesdays for taco Tuesday! They have tacos for $1.25 each on Tuesdays and you can pick from chicken steak pork or pork and pineapple. If you get everything on them it comes with cheese a cabbage blend crema pico and Cilantro. They were very delicious and filling! I ordered 2 chicken and 2 steak😋😋
Jessica S — Google review
After a few good Mexican meals in the last 12 months, I am starting to look for Mexican restaurants when I go to a new place. So far I have to save the good ones are hard to find. This one was highly rated and close to where I was. It was a pretty busy place with a line of 10 people at noon. Very quick ordering service and I took the combo plate with fish taco. After I picked my plate and sat in the next room, a very clean area, I realized I might order the wrong stuff because it didn't look that tasty, which was true. The fish taco and the rest of the plate were bland, I should try something else. The exotic ice creams in the freezer could be my love.
Keqi G — Google review
I had dinner here on a weekend, it wasn’t very busy and the service was quick. The food was okay, the vegetables tasted very fresh, most of the other ingredients were okay, however the big let down was the cheese, it tastes pretty bad, and if I do find my self here again, I will not be getting the cheese, other then that, my only other complaint about the food was that it was very rice heavy. The service was good, they were friendly and quick, so no complaints there. On my rating scale, I would give it a 4.7/10 (5.0 being average), it was okay, but not really good enough to be worth the trip again
Micah N — Google review
$1.25/taco on Taco Tuesdays! Very good street tacos, they make their own tortillas. Their spicy salsa is legit spicy. Tacos were excellent, we got steak, carnival and al pastor.
Karl G — Google review
This is not even Chipotle quality. My steak burrito had 2 pieces of steak. The street tacos were dry and flavorless.
Shannon F — Google review
We used Tortilleria Garcia to cater our wedding and it was an absolute hit! Our guests loved the taco bar, chips and salsa/guac/queso appetizer, and the agua frescas! Teresa was so easy to work with and we had a couple meetings leading up to the big day so she knew exactly what we were expecting. I thought the cost was very reasonable too and I would cater with them again in the future.
Maggie G — Google review
It's a really great place. I go here for lunch break sometime so I haven't been that much but I've been oh four or five times and it's been great. Service was great. They're nice and pleasant. The food is good. I had no complaints
Kianna B — Google review
Legit the best tacos I’ve had in a long time! The portion sizes were generous. First time having Barria tacos and now I want more! The prices were very fair also, even during all supply chain issues. Plenty of seating and the AC works great in the back dining room.

Literally the best taco I’ve had in my life. The mix of soft and hard shell has never crossed my mind and it works really really well on top of the flavorful fillings. Had the Lucy Fire as suggested by their staff and a bestseller. The flavor is just *chef’s kiss* 😋 + they’re open till 12 am and serve fast! Great value too!

Went for my birthday with my very outgoing friend that was ready to party and SEAN was amazing at putting up with us . We had so many questions haha . We had an amazing time, the food was incredible and the margaritas were top tier. Sean, your mama did a great job raising you. (Her name is Sandy, he said , and her birthday is two days after mine) We will be back. Probably sooner than you want us to be ! Thank you so much!
Regina R — Google review
This was my first time at Condado tacos and it was a nice experience. The salsa and chips were great, it had a kick but I liked it. I tried the chicken bacon ranch, Baja shrimp, and the brisket sweet heat. I didn’t care for the Baja shrimp, I think that would be best sold in a bowl since it contains rice and shrimp. I liked the brisket and chicken bacon ranch. The restaurants AC was broken the day we came so they had mini AC units placed around the restaurant. Our waitress was super nice. Can’t wait to come back again.
Ebony H — Google review
I ordered Easy Pleasy burrito and it was missing 4 ingredients. It was dry and zero flavor. My son had steak tacos and they were seasoned so spicy even my husband could eat them. My husband said his tacos were good. The restaurant was empty no one in there but us at 6 pm.
Channing C — Google review
Came in for dinner this evening and Jackson was amazing. We had plenty of questions due to be vegetarians and he explained everything in detail. Fast service. Food was fresh. Manager Cheyanne was super friendly and checked in with us. Overall great experience!
Armani L — Google review
The place was empty but the server we had was very engaged and explained everything about menu options. Parking on the other hand, especially if you're not from the area, can be a challenge. There is a parking garage right after the place that will need to be used since there is no parking on the street. We had to travel around the block to figure it out. It wasn't too bad since there weren't many people out, but I could only imagine if it were there busy time.
Butch P — Google review
I had such a great experience at Condado’s Tacos! The food was fresh and flavorful (those tacos are always a win), but what really made the visit special was our server, COSY. She was super friendly, attentive without being overbearing, and made us feel genuinely welcomed. You can tell she cares about giving people a good experience. Everything came out quickly, and she made great recommendations too. If you go, definitely ask for COSY — she’ll take great care of you!

I had Brenton G as my server on the day of a bengals game! He was an amazing server! I’ve ate here on several different occasions and have had HORRIBLE service but come back because the food is great but now I’ll be back just because of Brenton. He was super attentive, very helpful, great energy and overall just a very good server. I’ll be sure to ask for Brenton when I come back! Thank you for the Service!

There were a lot of good flavors here. It wasn't too expensive and had an okay atmosphere. It was like a mix of sit down and eat in. It wasn't that cozy but it was welcoming. Good food overall

Vibrant flavor at a reasonable price with a disappointing hygiene. Came in on the reds opening day after this place was recommended by a close friend. Apparently their very own “Turtles” were the item in the menu to order so we ordered two. One in baja style and one in Diablo style which is one of their items with the most heat 🔥 When i walked in, i was a bit confused due to the fact that no one is at the front door to greet or direct you and for a first timer like me— it was baffling. The concept is like a fast food restaurant in which you order off a standardized menu on a board behind the counter and can make requests to add or remove a specific element off each style. The food did take a while to come out. I assume it was because of the time closer to closing time. I was told by one of my friends that this place started as a take out restaurant only in which people would order through the small window on the side of the building which is still there! It started as a late night meal take out and eventually they rented the rest of the space and were finally able to open a dine in area. The ambiance was the unpleasant part of the experience and was definitely concerning. All the tables were dirty and had crumbs from the previous customers, there was no safe place. On a very slow night like this one, i would expect a more hygienic environment or at least an attempt to accommodate new customers to sit and enjoy their meal on a clean space. Also, one of the cooks came out of the kitchen with no gloves nor hair knit to take the trash. Huge red flag for me. The sanitation was the biggest downfall; nonetheless, the food was delightful, vibrant, and unique to their style. The turtles were crunchy packed with flavor and the tortilla which felt more like a pita or gyro was a great portion size considering it was 12$—-not a bad deal. The real kick was brought by the diablo style turtle which had me breathing heavily and making several trips to the self serve water station. It was vibrant, flavor packed, fresh and bold which is very characteristic of a mexican style restaurant. So spicy that it made me reconsider using their restroom. I know it must be a real concern for the maintenance guy there! I recommend getting their spicy crema sauce which settles down the heat and also adds a little kick to your meal. 2 in one which is like magic. All in all, i would come back to order take out but due to their unsanitary conditions, i wouldn’t eat at the restaurant again. Would recommend with caution. 4/5 ⭐️

Gomez turtles are a must if you’re in Cincinnati. Like Taco Bell on flavor steroids. So delicious and a Cincinnati staple.

Gomez catered my sister's wedding this past weekend and did an amazing job! They released tables in the order my brother-in-law and my sister wanted, kept everything stocked and tidy, and served plates to the newlyweds perfectly. I am a professional wedding DJ and coordinator, and they made it so easy for me to enjoy the wedding and not stress at all!

The tacos I had were called “turtles” super amazing super good the price I’d say a little crazy for 10 dollars for one taco but so worth it nice size tacos like two in one then it comes with those explosive sauce on the side! Yes def will recommend to friends and family for sure! 🥰❤️❤️❤️

Our office ordered $100.00 worth of food.. I ordered the chicken bowl, but it didn't come with sour cream or my guac, and it was very dry as a chip..... This is the second time I have ordered this. Never again

We came here after I found it online and read the reviews. Most all of them suggested the Turtle. It did not disappoint! We had the turtle with chicken, Gomez style. It was delicious! It has this crispy cheese crusted exterior and really good Baja sauce. I definitely recommend coming here and getting the turtle and any style you get I’m sure will be good. The guy that waited on us Saturday afternoon was super friendly too! We will definitely be coming back next time we’re in Cincinnati.

Some of the best tacos I have had along with very reasonable pricing. Stopped here on a whim with a group of 8 and we were able to grab a table and have a delicious dinner for under $20! Plus they have some good beers on tap too! Unfortunately the tacos were so good I forgot to take pictures of the food, but still I highly recommend checking this place out!

Lalo Chino Latino Kitchen is a vibrant restaurant that offers a fusion of Pan-Asian and Mexican cuisines. The menu features an array of noodle, dumpling, and rice dishes alongside traditional Mexican fare. The colorful eatery is known for its unique blend of flavors, creating a one-of-a-kind dining experience.
Flavors of the food were amazing! Zucchini and cauliflower bites was good! Mex Pad Thai a little bit spicy but delicious. The Cuban avocado + tofu comes with fried plantains was extremely tasty! We tried Mofongo a little bit too smash but the garlic flavor was really good! Definitely our favorite place!

We tried Lalo for dinner on a Saturday and it was really good. I would absolutely recommend the birria egg rolls, Hawaiian chicken bowl, and the tres leche cake. The tres leche is probably the best tres leche I’ve had at a restaurant. The food overall was amazing. The service was attentive and the environment was very welcoming.

Good quality food, kale salad with nice seasoning, all fresh and crispy vegetables. Mushroom taco is kind of salty but still good, peppers add layers of flavor. Crispy fish taco is amazing, mango tastes so good! Good service!

Great service for a larger group! Portion sizes were generous! They had a lovely variety of vegetarian options and accommodated vegan requests. The cauliflower bites and the cauliflower taco were delicious.

Creative fusion restaurant blending flavors of Mexico and Asia with unique combinations of dishes ranging from entree salads to tacos and platters. We tried the Mexican pad Thai, mixed tacos, and plantain fries, all of which were very good. There were plenty of other dishes we would have liked to try on the menu - interesting place, worth a visit!

Very tasty food in Cinci downtown. Small but very customer friendly staff, food is made fresh and yummy. I would suggest to find a parking space or use alternate method

It was relatively quiet on a Tuesday evening however, the atmosphere was very clean and festive to the restaurants fusion theme. The birria egg rolls were so tasty to be able to dip into the beef sauce and lastly, the drunken burrito was perfect and absolute fusion of both Asian and Mexican flavors. I would recommend having the guacamole as that added an additional freshness to the already tasteful burrito. The service was outstanding as the waitresses successfully were able to check up on our order and make sure we have everything we need would highly recommend this restaurant!

Django Western Taco is a charming eatery that effortlessly blends traditional American and Mexican flavors, all served in a relaxed and inviting setting. Known for its innovative Tex-Mex dishes, this spot has become a local favorite, especially on Sundays when brunch draws in crowds eager to savor their delightful offerings. The menu features an array of tacos that allow diners to mix and match their favorites—like the BBQ Chicken or Shrimp tacos—ensuring there's something for everyone.
We sat at the bar and had a wonderful experience. We wished we had larger appetite to try MORE! The chips were some of the best we’ve had...very thick! The fried chicken pimento taco is a must try! Tasty salsa...we spiced ours up with the homemade hot sauce they brought. The verde and “hot” neither of which were very spicy. The stuffed Serrano pepper looked wonderful. They had kombucha on tap...we tasted the watermelon jalapeño, but it was a bit much to get a whole glass. Great music, great service, we will be back!

We went to Django for brunch. We shared their chips and salsa. I had the Northside Slam and my wife had the jerked chicken quesadilla. Chef Josh does such a terrific job. Such great flavors. And his bread budding was out of this world too.

It's 73 degrees and sunny out, the smell of fresh shrimp and cilantro instantly hit me. I walked through the back door of a cool local beer cave called Higher Gravity and found DJango Western Tacos. With just a small table and tent these two not so very cordial people served up the freshest shrimp, goat cheese, cilantro, aruegla on fresh tortillas. Go just because you need a snack!!!

One of the most unique and delicious taco places in Cincinnati. Excellent food and portions for the price. If you want alcohol with your meal you will need to go down the street, buy it, and bring it back but that gives you a much larger selection. The location is a very convenient spot to start a night out in Northside. Right next to Northside Tavern and a couple blocks away from Urban Artifact. If you live in Cinci, or are just passing through, you need to eat here!

Mexican restaurant
Los Potrillos has been serving up classic Mexican fare with margaritas and a full bar in a casual dining room. They use only fresh, high-quality ingredients and prepare everything in house. They have daily specials as well as many of their popular dishes, such as enchiladas, quesadillas, and Panchitos.
Los Potrillos (little ponies) Is my favorite Mexican restaurant in the Cincinnati area. It is located on the thriving Ludlow business district in gaslight Clifton, between skyline chili and Esquire theater, right across the street from Clifton market. You can try your luck with street parking, but more reliable is the Clifton merchants lot off Howell avenue. You can cut up the stairs from the lot and end up right across from the restaurant. Los Potrillos is a warm, cozy, colorful Mexican restaurant. When you enter the turn style glass door there is a beautiful, bright colorful bar to sit at. It's a great place to watch sporting events with a few friends or to grab a terrific Frozen margarita, my favorite is lime with rock sugar on the rim. The medium one is about the size of a small aquarium. Straight opposite the bar are two rows of nice cozy booths. One row looks straight out onto the street. Upstairs are rooms with larger tables. They have no problem seating 20 people. Those party rooms can be loud and quite raucous, but very fun. The waiters make you feel like you're right at home. All smiles and prompt terrific service. The food is fabulous. Queso fundido, guacamole, free chips and salsa, All the standard Mexican fare but done very well. They have a very healthy soupa azteca which is essentially a chicken and rice soup. Great if you have a cold. They have lots of delicious entrees. My favorite is Los Potrillos quesadilla which is a mix of steak, chicken, and shrimp in a delicious quesadilla. You can't go wrong with anything. Their desserts are fabulous. So next time you're looking for a fun and lively evening out with your family or friends, and a place to get some really delicious frozen margaritas, head to Los Potrillos in gaslight Clifton.

My boyfriend and I were there for lunch last week, we ordered fajitas and birria tacos which were really good, good service, and nice aesthetic and set up.
Maryam 7 — Google review
Decided to try Los Potrillos for a pre-concert meal. Only a block away from the Ludlow Garage, I was excited to find a great selection of entrees on their online menu. The dining area is a lot more spacious than the online photos portray. Staff was very courteous and accommodating the moment we walked in the door. We started with a Strawberry Daiquiri and a Margaurita; not a fan of the tequila used as it had an odd bitter taste. The chips, salsa and pico de gallo were great. My wife ordered the Burrito Mexicano, but felt it was stuffed with too many peppers and onions. I had the Quesadiila Tropicana, substituting Al Pastor for the steak. It was great, but I was surprised there was no tortilla on top. Didn't matter because it was tasty and full of meat. Service was way above par; we were fortunate to have Juanita taking care of us. Prices were very reasonable for the amount and quality of food you get, making this place a good value. This was our first visit, and we'll definitely be back.
David S — Google review
All 3 of us are formerly from Socal or LA to be exact so Mexican food as you know is expecting some high standards. As shown on my receipt, there was dishes of enchiladas del barrio & supremas. They said the sauces weren't spicy, it had little flavor but the description says "salsa" which we were expecting to be somewhat spicy, but I understand as the majority of Cincinnati is white & African Americans to very little of other ethnicities. The enchiladas had a generous amount of chicken stuffed inside, but of course you get to choose the option except for the enchiladas de barrio I think which is the top left dish. Each one had ground beef, chicken & a lot of cheese. Very good portions for what you pay. The other thing when looking for Mexican restaurants or Mexican food in general is pricing. Lots of well received & high rated places but prices are high with people paying $4 for a taco. This restaurant if I remember was about $3, which is still pricey. My favorite Mexican dish is mole de pollo. Mole was somewhat sweet although not spicy nor a lot of flavor in it. The rice was pretty well cooked, soft but somewhat of a crispy texture, again with a generous amount of chicken to go with it. The chips are brought out for free, not sure if it's bottomless but the salsa wasn't spicy, a small hint of sweet but again not much flavor. The burrito grande is a wet burrito, I took it to go as I didn't think I would finish it but turns out my dish didn't fill me. Filled with the typical burrito stuffing that gets eaten with a fork & knife. The salsas on it was the same as the enchiladas, not much flavor to it besides some sweetness. The place inside definitely reminds me of what a Mexican restaurant would look like, authentic with their styling & decorations. My server, Armando was always checking up on us, great service & asked if I wanted another drink of Coco Loco which I promptly declined as I was the driver. The drink didn't taste like alcohol or anything mixed, for a minute I thought maybe it was lemonade but I wouldn't know although I couldn't really taste it. I would definitely come back to this restaurant again to try the rest of the items, it's definitely an authentic Mexican restaurant, the experience is as close as I remember it to be despite the food lacking in some flavor which drops it 1 star. It's better than that "Nada" restaurant for sure.

Bueno? So, while we were seated promptly and had some really good chip and salsa our meal did take almost 45 minutes to arrive to us. Most of the meal did hit! We had 4 kids pizza, 1 chicken and steak fajita, 1 fajita salad and a mex sampler. The reason for the 3 star was due to the length of time waited and the chicken wing in the sampler not being cooked all the way. Nonetheless, I have not written them off, but I’ll try to come back on weekday and see the difference.
H. M — Google review
Came in around 5pm on a Tuesday and it was empty. Sat at the bar. Comfortable chairs. Service was prompt and friendly. Atmosphere is colorful and bright and they play traditional Mexican music. They had a special for a bottle of Pacifico for $2.50. I also got a burrito plate for $13. Chips were warm and salsa wasn't too cold. Good experience, I'd come back.

Baridakara W — Google review
I really struggle with leaving bad reviews, but I was incredibly disappointed with our experience at Los Potrillos. We were shown to a booth that was more than a foot narrower than other booths, so my friend and I couldn't comfortably sit across from each other. We moved to a nearby booth so we could fit. The waiter who came out looked put out that we had moved, but didn't ask us to move back. I think it was because we'd moved to a booth for 4 people and there were only 2 of us, but they were not busy at the time. We got complimentary chips and salsa. The chips were pretty good and seemed fresh, but the salsa was bland. I ordered the Enchiladas Supremas. They came out quickly, but were lukewarm at best - there was a little cheese sprinkled on top of the sauce, and it was unmelted. The sauce was mostly flavorless, and the tortillas for each of the enchiladas were kind of hard - the whole dish seemed undercooked. The dish came with 1 cheese, 1 beef, 1 chicken, and 1 bean enchilada, with lettuce, tomato, and sour cream on the side. Each of the fillings was fairly unpleasant. The cheese was a strange plasticy queso sauce that was mostly solid and a very unsettling texture. The beef was kind of cold and strangely sweet for my taste - seemed like a meatloaf consistency almost. The shredded chicken was cold and very dry. The beans were bland and runny. My friend was equally disappointed with her meal. We didn't want to make a fuss, so we made an excuse to avoid taking our full plates of food with us and left quickly after paying our bill.

Drunken Tacos is a popular Mexican eatery located on the University of Cincinnati campus. It's known for its delicious tacos, quick service, and affordable prices. The cozy and inviting atmosphere makes it a favorite spot for students and locals alike. It's a great place to grab a bite before a game, but be prepared for potential crowds on game days. Slow service but the food was delicious. To give them credit, there were only 2 people working - a server and a cook. If you have the time it's definitely worth checking out.

The revised menu and interiors are so much better. We tried the pork and chicken fajita tacos. They were all really good. Surprisingly the cauliflower taco and crispy potato were more flavorful than the chicken fajita tacos. Will be back to try the other menu items.

Under new management, the place isn't what it was. Margaritas are smaller, and the pitchers have significantly decreased. The food is more expensive for the same quality. There aren't waiters anymore. You order at the front instead of sitting down at a table. It feels like it's lost a bit of its charm that it once had.

The young lady that took my order was really sweet and also was knowledgeable with the menu and drinks and also the cook was really nice. The atmosphere was very calm. I went around mid day and this might’ve been last week.

Was skeptical when entering as the building is old and didn't seem to be the cleanest. However, I had the best taco I think I've ever had. Must try the Buffalo chicken tacos. Amazing! Our daughter loves their queso as well. UPDATE: Have been 4 times now, and it has been constantly tasty every single time!

- Chicken Fajita = 👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿 This is one of the most unassuming places I've been to for food, and I'm so glad for that. The place itself was a bit droll, but I went there around 2300 - despite that, the atmosphere was very chill and comfortable enough. The chicken fajita I ordered went way beyond my expectations! The dishes came out steaming hot, the portion sizes were very generous, and the food itself was absolutely DELICIOUS without feeling too heavy on the palate. Probably one of the best fajitas I've tasted in a very long time, and I would love to return to try more of their delicious choices.

So sad to see this place changed from what it used to be. The old queso was the best you could get anywhere & brought out in a hot skillet. It is now served medium warm in a plastic cup. They’ve gotten rid of their pollo tacos and buffalo chicken tacos and also don’t have frozen margaritas. I gave it a 2 star because the tacos we ate (they weren’t the ones we ordered, they messed up the tables) were okay. They also don’t have servers really- you go up and order yourself. Disappointing to see an unnecessary rebrand for a once great place

Argentinian restaurant
Ché is a popular Argentine restaurant in Cincinnati that has been serving up authentic street foods for nearly a decade. What began as a food truck has now expanded to two locations, both exuding the same love and charm as the original truck. The restaurant takes pride in its artisanal cuisine, particularly its handcrafted empanadas that showcase divine flavors. The rustic and dimly lit dining room provides an inviting ambiance for patrons to savor these delectable offerings while enjoying a variety of drinks.
Hands down, this was the best food I’ve ever had in Cincinnati — From start to finish, this restaurant blew us away with both the quality of the food and the incredible service. The steak tacos were absolutely amazing — perfectly seasoned and cooked, with generous portions. The chicken tacos were great too, but the steak really stole the show. We also tried the empanadas, and the short rib and Cubano were amazing. We started with the guacamole appetizer, and it was fresh, creamy, and full of flavor. Every single dish we tried exceeded our expectations. Honestly, not a single item on the menu disappointed us — everything was beyond great. The margaritas were just as impressive — flavorful, strong and a beyond fairly priced. On top of all that, our server was phenomenal. So kind, attentive, and clearly passionate about giving guests a great experience. You could tell they genuinely cared, which made our night even better. The restaurant itself was spotless and comfortable, which added to the overall enjoyment. We’re already looking forward to coming back the next time we’re in town. This place is a must-try.
T G — Google review
Missed Potential in Flavor & Experience Came in on a Sunday afternoon for dinner with my girlfriend. With only one other table of five, the restaurant was far from busy, creating a relaxed but somewhat uninspiring atmosphere. While the interior was clean, the decor didn’t reflect the Argentinean essence I expected. Instead, it gave off the impression of a seafood restaurant attempting to mimic an 1800s ship, almost as if it was inspired by Pirates of the Caribbean. We started with empanadas, intending to explore the menu further. My girlfriend ordered three chicken salsa verde empanadas and one buffalo chicken, while I chose one buffalo chicken and one de carne empanada. The empanadas were well-cooked and filling, but the overall experience was underwhelming. A major letdown was the lack of attentive service. The server spent most of the time on his phone at the bar, only approaching at the end of our meal to refill water. Had he checked in earlier, I would have requested a proper side salsa to enhance the empanadas with a bolder, tangy, and spicier kick. The provided olive oil-packed Chimichurri and blue cheese didn’t do much to elevate the flavors, leaving the dish bland and uninspired. As a Latino dining at a Latin American restaurant, I anticipated flavors that reminded me of my roots. Instead, I found a place that seemed more tailored for milder, less adventurous palates rather than those who appreciate the depth and spice of authentic Latin cuisine. At $5.50–$6 per empanada, I expected a richer experience—more flavor, better service, and definitely more salsa. Unfortunately, the visit didn’t inspire me to explore the rest of the menu, and I’ll likely seek out other Argentinean spots that deliver on both authenticity and customer care

Husband and I love trying out new cuisine so took advantage of seeing this Argentinian place on a trip to Cincinnati. Looked up both the classic Argentinian foods are and we're happy to see that they had a lot of them on the menu. Vibe of the place was absolutely lovely. So aesthetic; Especially the seating in the back side with the wooden panel and the lights and all of that stuff. As for the food, this was really delicious. Fugazzeta - It was like a cheese stuffed flatbread pizza kind of a thing and just phenomenal. Literally oozing with cheese inside and outside and still had the perfect balance of cheese and bread. I love classic cheese pizza with some chili flakes and this is perfect with the chili flakes on top. Quite a big potions size as well so we ended up taking most of it to go and reheating it the next day but no issues because those were great as well. Really good variety of empanada options and it was hard to pick. Pick ended up getting the Short Rib and Salsa Verde Chicken (since I was trying to be a little healthy and get a leaner meat that wasn't fried). That short rib empanada was unbelievable! Crispy flaky crust and very delicious meat on the inside. The chicken one was just subpar so I wouldn't recommend it. Also got the Chioripan - This is another traditional dish which is basically like a hot dog. Kind of a bun with a local sausage and some chimichurri and other good stuff inside. I know that the sausage can be quite high in fat, but overall this was a really, really delicious sandwich! I ended up removing most of the chimichurri but it was phenomenal just the same. Hearts of Palm Salad was PHENOMENAL!!

The Comet in Cincinnati is a popular hangout known for its basic Mexican cuisine, live music, and pool table. Despite being primarily considered a bar, it also offers an ever-changing Sunday brunch menu featuring trendy dishes like shakshuka and eggs Florentine. The owner, Dave Cunningham, has successfully maintained the bar's lively atmosphere with live music nights and outdoor seating.
Always a good vibe to be had at the Comet. The drinks are always great, the food slaps all day every day, and the music and is always electric. The atmosphere at the Comet is untouched and there is always a great time to be had regardless of the night.

I came for Sunday brunch. Service and atmosphere are excellent. I got the biscuits and gravy. In hindsight, I'd have been better off ordering a biscuit and gravy ala carte. Came in for Sunday brunch and really enjoyed the atmosphere — warm, welcoming, and great service all around. I ordered the biscuits and gravy. While the gravy was decent, it wasn’t quite as flavorful as I’d hoped. In hindsight, I probably would’ve been better off ordering it à la carte. That said, everything else I saw coming out of the kitchen looked amazing. I’m definitely planning to come back for an event and to try some of the other dishes on the menu. Plenty of potential here!

I went here last night for the first time, and I was impressed with the layout of the place, the calm lighting and selection of beers - but the bartender was highly impolite from beginning to end. I contacted the bar today and tried to bring this matter to a manager, but was told that they weren't there. UPDATE: the manager there named Wayne communicated effectively by returning my phone call and apologizing. I accepted the apology, and agreed to return to Comet - obviously and hopefully when that rude bartender is NOT there. 👍

Great casual spot for tacos, burritos, chips and salsa. A nice selection of canned craft beer as well as some good options on tap. Tuesday is bike night and it’s a decent sized crowd but don’t let that scare you away, it’s a great crowd and a great mix of bikes and people. Think cars and coffee, not Rabbit Hash. We didn’t have any issues with wait times getting drinks at the bar or getting food from the kitchen. Will definitely be back!

Veracruz Mexican Grill is a laid-back restaurant located in the heart of Price Hills Incline District, Cincinnati. It offers a traditional menu of homestyle Mexican fare and Guatemalan specialties made with house-made ingredients. The restaurant has a full bar and screens sports on TV, creating an easygoing atmosphere for patrons to enjoy their meals.
The food is great. The atmosphere is good except for one thing. They have a middle room where the toilet doors open directly out into the dining area. Plus the lighting in that room is sort of yellow greenish and it's quite stark. That particular room needs an interior designer redo ASAP. Other than that, it is awesome. The food is delicious and there is a wide variety of great dishes The frozen margaritas are superb. It's a fun, affordable Mexican place.

I previously ate inside but this visit was just for their delicious bakery selection. I love the variety of beads and sweets they have. Always something different as well as old favorites. Definitely recommend checking out the bakery area if you happen to be stopping in for a meal.

Let me start by saying this place has really good food. I understand prices must go up but from 10 years ago to now prices have quadrupled and I mean that. The food is still good, but I did place it to go order and it upset me that I didn’t receive any chips and salsa even though I bought a full meal and a beverage. Are we really getting that greedy with the profits that we can include a bag of chips and salsa because if I sit down in your restaurant I get free refills on my beverage and I get my first batch of chips for free. Please do better bear cruise. You are charging a premium people expect a premium service.

Bakery goods are to die for! If you’re a local or just passing through, stop by because you will not be disappointed by any means. I was surprised by the selection, but the location was recommended to me. I will be stopping by for lunch or dinner with some friends soon to try and can’t wait as the food on the menu looks authentic and fresh.

The restaurant has great ambience, music and customer service. Now for the food and price ahh I reckon you don't get your bang for your buck!! The food was small quantity for the price and not flavorful. The frozen margarita was not bad for the taste. One turn off asked for chips and salsa to go. Receive my food and no chips and salsa. I asked why I was told it's only for those that dine in. Wow, really?! Over all this one is a 2.5 on food, 3 on customer service and 5 on ambience. They worth a try...may have a different experience.

Food here is great. Lots of options, especially for kids and vegetarians. We loved the outdoor seating area. It was very chill and relaxed. The guacamole appetizer was good. It could have used a bit more seasoning but it was still delicious.
Sean B — Google review
Food was priced higher than your average Mexican restaurant, so I was expecting a bit more for the price increase. Food ended up being subpar and devoid of flavor and tastes. Rice had no flavor, refried beans tasted like they came out of a can. The steak for my fajita was clearly a lower quality cheaper meat and the texture was obvious. The large draft beer was more in line with a medium at most other Mexican restaurants. I doubt I will be retuning here.

El Rancho Grande in Kenwood is a delightful family-friendly Mexican restaurant that serves up an array of classic dishes, including burritos and enchiladas. Known for its vibrant atmosphere, this eatery offers an impressive selection of margaritas—some so large they might require a designated driver! A standout dish to try is the new Birria Esquites, featuring roasted corn mixed with mayo, queso fresco, lime, birria, and pico de gallo.
Great surprise. Great food. Great service. Reasonably priced. The salsa could be more favorable. But, we like it spicy. The chips were very tasty. Will return...soon!

Great service. Our server was honest about the kids food. We originally had ordered pizza for the kids and she explained to us that it wasn't really that good. So we changed their order and they loved it. The food was great except I will say that I ordered the chile rellonos and the peppers were tough. That's the only knock I have on the visit. The atmosphere was great

About a couple weeks ago, my wife and I came here, and were seated in a booth near the bar, then it seemed like they forgot about us. We waited awhile. We started to leave, and the nice manager stopped us and assured us he would take care of us and gave us a discount. We visited again and again after that and had very nice meals and service. But, the last couple of times, which includes today, they seated us in the section behind the register, where no one can see you, and I had to actually come out and ask for refills. I did not see the manager I saw before. We had horrible service today. My wife is disabled, and I had to go ask for service. Recently, when we were here, a lady was walking out and she fell on the floor twice, and my wife tried to flag the staff down to get help for her. They just stood around talking! We did not see the manager that day, either. Fortunately, an ambulance was called, and she got help. The servers always seem to want us to walk a long way to the back, or seat us behind the register. The food is always good, but service could be a lot better. We should not have to ask for service. I am not the complaining type, but someone needs to see this!
Don F — Google review
This was one of the worst experiences I have ever had. The waiter took forever to get to our table. Initially, we asked for queso he walked away as we were giving our order. When we asked for the check, he put his hand up in front of our faces to talk to another server. The food was good. But the service ruined the whole experience. The waiter then came to our table and asked where his tip was. We said we are leaving in in cash. He then hover over the table the entire time until we left. After we left, he yelled out from the patio if everything was OK because I’m guessing he thought his tip wasn’t good enough… Weird weird experience. Do not recommend…… made me very uncomfortable.

Taqueria San Marcos is a nostalgic 50s-style diner in Norwood, Cincinnati that offers authentic Guatemalan tacos. The unassuming spot is a well-kept secret, known for its deliciously simple tacos served on small, warmed corn tortillas with various filling options. The friendly service and expansive menu make it a hidden gem in the area.
If you ever get the chance to try this little place, DEFINITELY DO IT! It’s very quaint and you’ll miss it if you don’t know it’s there. Such GOOD food and totally worth the drive. More authentic than anything around here and the wait staff was pleasant, very friendly and accommodating. Will certainly be making more trips to Cincinnati for this delightful taqueria!

Update 2/6/25: I'm sad to write this but they went from my favorite taco spot to the worst I've had. Multiple times now I've paid $14 for 4 tacos and gotten small, dry, bland tacos with almost no meat or cilantro and onion. They used to have 5x this much meat. I'm adding pictures from 2 seperate recent visits. They said they got a new cook so maybe I'll give them another shot in 6 months or so but who thought this was ok? Original: Some of the best street tacos I've ever had. My buddy got the taco Loco and it was huge. Will definitely be back.

I was hoping for better. As a Latin food LOVER, I feel just a little disappointed for the price. Definitely good, but I’ve just had so much better many times. I got a taco and a burrito and it was kind of dry. Fillings/toppings were also not very filled for the about of tortillas for each. The people I came with felt similarly.
J N — Google review
The tacos were okay. The flavor was good but they were somewhat dry.

This nice little mom and pop taco spot was just what I needed for Taco Tuesday! They had the BEST marinated, authentic, chicken, street tacos.. our waitress was the owner of this location and she took care of everyone inside the restaurant and did a spectacular job! The food is made to order so you'll likely have to wait, but it is well worth it. Had fun exploring this end of the city and can't wait to come back.

La Cantina is a restaurant that offers contemporary Mexican cuisine and cocktails in the heart of downtown. The menu features dishes like elote (a corn on the cob dish), Baja fish tacos, and chicken mole, all of which are inspired by authentic Mexican cuisine. The restaurant started as a pop-up at Crown Republic Gastropub last year, but it has now opened its doors as a full-fledged restaurant.
We’ve been to Crown Cantina many times and it’s always delicious. This is one of our favorite Mexican spots in the city. When we go, we don’t overthink it, we just order every taco. It’s the perfect amount to share for 2 people. The drinks are also delicious, especially anything mezcal. It’s a pretty happening spot, so make sure to get a reservation ahead of time.

Dining in the experience was very pleasant with large portions. Everything fresh and delicious. However I just ordered a door dash with “large plate” for 4 people and it was barely a meal for one. It was the stingiest portion of rice and beans. I even ordered extra rice and it was left off the order. I also got one small piece of pork, mind you this is supposed to feed up to 4. Hear me when I say dine in ONLY here they will rip you off with the take out.
Ariss P — Google review
All I can say-WOW! This place was absolutely delicious. The ingredients were so so fresh and well paired together. We got the guacamole, the wedge salad, and we split the lamb and Baja fish tacos. Each dish had layers of unique flavors and textures. The pickled red onions and candied bacon on the wedge salad were superb. The guacamole was really elevated—it had a red sauce on top with different types of cooked down onions, corn, peppers, and cheese. The tacos were juicy and fresh. Even the rice and beans side was perfectly seasoned. Drinks were good. Our waitress was extremely kind as well. Overall so so pleasant. We sat outside and it was beautiful.

Crown Cantina was a perfect restaurant before an event at the Taft on a Sunday at about 4. The bar was open until food was served at 4:30. We did not have reservations but we were fine being seated at the bar. I would highly recommend reservations at this trendy upscale restaurant! The margaritas were refreshing made with fresh squeezed juices. The guacamole is a must, served with home made corn tortillas and topped with spicy vegetables. I chose a brisket taco and a sweet potato taco. Next time I would definitely get the brisket taco again.

For the first time, I came on Wednesday for my friend’s birthday. The food was good. The charro beans and guacamole are amazing. The ghost & guava margarita was perfect. Our server Arica was spectacular. I enjoyed it so much that I came back yesterday for date night with my husband. I would highly recommend.

After hiking through Eden Parks hills and dales we dropped down Mount Adams to have lunch at the Crown Cantina. We had just read a review that past week in the Cincinnati Enquirer and wanted to give this place a try. The place is nicely decorated with a contemporary vibe. Table service was excellent with just enough attention without getting that hovering feeling. We all had the taco lunch special which allows you to pick any two tacos (5 or 6 choices) and a choice of bean sides for $15. The four of us had a variety of tacos and chose the Mexican rice and charro beans as a side. All the tacos were excellent but the rice and beans were extra special and highly recommended by all. After lunch we all trudged back up the hill to Mount Adams and our cars before heading home. It was a great trip on a beautiful day.

The atmosphere was amazing, everywhere you turn has incredible decorations. The restaurant has a large menu, therefore having something for everyone. I was there for lunch with a group of coworkers, the service was OK and all our orders were correct. The chips and salsa were good, the other food was good quality, a bit bland but using salsa or hot sauce helped us all. I do want to return someday and try their drinks as they look amazing and super fun!

We enjoyed the extensive menu of unique margaritas and found the food to be fresh with large portions. However, we came on a Thursday evening and there seemed to be an event or birthday. The music was turned up where conversation at the table was essentially impossible. Might have been fun for the right people, but not what we were expecting at 8 PM on a Thursday. That evening, there was also entertainment in the form of a robot/transformer. Initially we found it entertaining, but as he came to the table we were overwhelmed by the smell of body odor that set back our appetites. Note they also included a mandatory gratuity. We might have missed a note in the extensive menu, but found it highly unusual. Overall, we will not be back, but might be a different experience earlier in the afternoon or for lunch.
Matt B — Google review
Definitely a fun place to try out. It has a party atmosphere and there is always something going on around you. Could be a birthday celebration complete with drums or could be a flambayed steak delivered to your table. Food was like a 3.5 out of 5. Good, but they definitely go for style over substance. Service was friendly and very quick. The standouts were the drinks. Very tasty and each one is served with over the top decorations and knick-knacks. Reminded me of the some of bars on the Vegas strip! If you like giant flames and sparks shooting out of the top of your food then this is the place! Had a great time with a good meal and delicious drinks. Music was exceptional too! Lots of high energy dance tunes. Like the Pitbull SiriusXM channel on steroids.

I have ordered from here multiple times on DoorDash. Finally went in to eat in person for the first time. The inside was decorated really nice! The service was pretty quick and friendly too. We order the chips and salsa & Queso on the side as well to Start off. We really enjoyed our queso dip, so I do recommend that! We also ordered the burrito el barzon- An item that we order quite frequently. Pretty much every time we order from here. It’s a huge burrito with chicken, shrimp, beef, pineapple, and a smothered in sauce. Definitely very filling and could get multiple meals out of it. First time at this establishment. Any kind of Mexican food one could want they have. Busy at dinner time so the wait for the food to arrive was a bit long but to be expected. What was not expected was the medium Dos Equis. Glad I didn't order a large. Try the roasted corn rubbed with mayo and Parmesan for something different. I had the Quatro Esquinas and it had me saying, No Mas, no mas!
Ken G — Google review
This was my second time visiting this restaurant and this experience was significantly better than the first. The food was marginally better, but I still think you can find better Hispanic food elsewhere. The queso dip was room temperature at best. My fajitas were warm enough to eat, but still not hot. The salsa was mid. My kids ate all their food so that gets 3 stars on its own. Restaurant staff also all checked on us as they walked by our table which was nice. 5/5 for good service.
Nicholas M — Google review
Aside from the margarita, everything about our experience was terrible—poor service, a claustrophobic, maze-like layout, and the food, especially, was disappointing. What more can you say about a restaurant? I suppose the margarita wasn’t strong enough to stop me from posting this review. We arrived hungry, but we couldn’t bear that thing that they call quesadilla and burrito. What they served were inedible. I’ll be sharing before and after pictures of our plates to show just how bad it was. Honestly, I’m shocked by their high star rating—it definitely misled us this time. We won’t be fooled again and will be avoiding this place in the future.

A friend took us here for dinner. At a Mexican restaurant are the chips and salsa good? El Jinete has really good chips and salsa. The chips were warm and fresh tasting and the salsa was great as well. I had the Chile Verde Pork and my friend had the Azteca Soup and my other friend had a HUGE Plate of nachos. The soup and the nachos were good. My dish was ok, but not very flavorful. The pork was a little dry and the Verde sauce lacked great flavor or heat. Service was good. Overall, a good meal. Would come back and try something different.

Tacos are pretty good, but nothing super special being a Mexican from SoCal I’m hard to please when it comes to the Mexican food out here. The tacos were fantastic. I ordered the bistec, pescado, and al pastor. I also ordered a jamaica tea and chips. My order after tax and tip was about $30, which is kinda pricey for a taco lunch. The chips were too spicy for me, but if you like the heat, then try the seasoned chips.

Mexican restaurant
Cocktail bar
Nestled in the vibrant Gantry Apartments of Northside, Taqueria 251 is a delightful tribute to iconic Mexican figures throughout history, as envisioned by owner Emilio Santos Sada. This charming eatery serves up an array of authentic Mexican dishes and street food that are sure to tantalize your taste buds. Among its standout offerings are the trendy birria tacos and the unforgettable Esquite—sweet corn cut off the cob and mixed right at your table for a fun dining experience.
Came in blind as a party of three. The drinks were great, and we enjoyed all the food with the chicharron being a standout favorite for the group. Our server Marisa was a joy to interact with, and we are certain to recommend to friends and visit again on our next trip from Columbus!

I have been wanting to try this restaurant for awhile now. I am sorry that it didn't meet my expectations. The street view is very dark. We drove past the restaurant twice. The place was busy so we sat at the bar for a short while to wait for a table. I ordered the traditional margarita. It was too sweet for my taste. Our table shared an order of guacamole and an order of chips con salsa. The order of guacamole was small and lacked any spicy jalapeno flavor. The order of chips and salsa was served in a unique manner. The salsas were provided in three different squeeze bottles instead of a bowl. The server that brought our appetizers just dropped the order without explaining any of the flavors in the salsas. For my dinner I ordered the Chilaquiles rojos. It looked good but seemed to lack any real flavor. The chips under the chicken took over the plate without purpose. I would have liked more refried beans as they had a little spice. I was expecting more as I had read that the owner was using his own traditional family recipes. I realize that most Mexican recipes have been Americanized to suit our tastes and felt that this food had done the same. The music was so loud that we couldn't have a conversation. The water left on the table was warm, no ice. The only bright spot was our server Marisa, who was attentive and polite. I won't be back. Too many negatives for me.

Cool vibes! New Mexican street food restaurant that is really starting to take off here in Northside. The Elote is a must for any corn lover. The pork rinds were served hot from the kitchen with an assortment of sauces. The tacos were delicious. And the churros came served on a fun little cart!

The restaurant has a unique decor. Tables and chairs are made from 2x4's and plywood. Bad acoustics made it difficult to have a conversation at the table. Sound bounced off the concrete walls and floor making the music louder than it should. The margarita was too sweet for my taste. The Campechana was good. The Rajas con crema, guacamole and chips were lacking. I really wanted to enjoy this place but overall it didn't bring satisfaction.

Taqueria 251 is a great addition to Northside. The star of the show for us was the Esquite. It's the Elotte cut off the cob for you and mixing it at the table was fun entertainment. It was just out-of-this-world deliciousness and the little cart it was served in is adorable too! Love the Esquite! The churros were the other star of the show for us. We couldn't figure out which dipper we liked the best. It ended up being a tie between the nutella and goats milk candy. Love the churros! The tacos were good too. We had Chicharron, Al Pastor, Gringa and Papa. Papa was our favorite. But I really enjoyed the cheese crust on the Gringa too. We'll definitely be back for more Esquite and churros. Welcome to Northside, Taqueria 251!

It was ok. Server was very nice. Looks like they are attempting to make the patio nice but it is a bit of a mess at the moment. Also could use some shade/umbrellas because at times the sun just beats down on that patio and is uncomfortable for diners facing Hamilton Ave. Drinks were very expensive considering the tiny glasses and the enormous ice cubes. The queso was disgusting. It was not a dip...it was just melted, greasy cheese that started hardening as soon as they brought it to the table. My husband said his taco shells had an earthy taste that he couldn't really describe- other than to say that they weren't good. He liked the fillings, just not the shells. ***I will say my "Papa" toastado was incredible. I would add a half star just for that, if possible, but I don't feel comfortable giving them 4 stars.

While they do not have their liquor license yet, do not be discouraged. They bring it with the food. One of my favorite Mexican breakfast/lunch meals is Chilaquiles Verde & their version topped w/ fried pork belly was fantastic. Finish off your meal w/ the street cart churros w/ dipping accompaniments (Nutella, goat milk caramel sauce, condensed milk, & a sugar/cinnamon sprinkle) & you will not be disappointed. I am sure once the cocktail program gets underway, it will pair beautifully with their food program. Shout out to Michael for the great service, humility in having to tell people they do not have alcohol yet, & providing great recs for a first-time visitor to Cincy! Will definitely visit again if/when I'm in town again.
