Hitching Post Kellogg, situated on the east side of Cincinnati along the Ohio River, proudly boasts a massive sign declaring itself as the "World's Best Fried Chicken" spot. This claim is not just for show, as it is highly regarded in the city for its delicious fried chicken and an array of tasty sides like mashed potatoes and macaroni salad. Visitors praise its great food at reasonable prices and commend the friendly service.
Chicken was freshly fried and piping hot and so crispy! Everything was wonderful! The woman working the counter was wonderful and so friendly. It was busy the whole time we were there on a Monday at 11am and I can definitely see why! Some of the best fried chicken I've ever had and great prices!
Shannon C — Google review
Very interesting place. It feels old. The food was well prepared and delicious. There's not a lot of seating. You order at the counter and they bring it out. The prices are good. The chicken breading isn't like everywhere else. I'll probably stop back.
Clint K — Google review
Horrible experience. Slow as can be. Ordered a dozen wings and 2 legs and it took them 20 minutes!!! I was told it would take 13 minutes to cook FYI. Lady at the register, who was miserable and no fun to talk to, failed to mentioned the wings are full-size. Absolute garbage of an experience. Their fried chicken is overrated for all the hype.
Leland K — Google review
Bomb chicken, literally 10/10 very happy i stopped by. Prices are super reasonable, portion size is no problem, place has a tiny interior. Hype to come back and try more of the menu
Joe S — Google review
Stopped in for lunch and I'll say it was good food for the price! Can't say it's near the best chicken, but all-in-all, not bad. Felt like a lot of straight out of the box sides (potato salad, pasta salad, potatoes with gravy). However, the place was charming and staff was friendly. Not happy to see a review about the owner going in to other restaurants and critiquing the wait staff... we all know the "type." Hope she minds her business...literally
Jonathan L — Google review
I was really looking forward to going to The Hitching Post with my wife for lunch. I have heard many great things about it. I ordered a 3 piece meal which came with mashed potatoes and coleslaw , and my wife ordered a 2 piece meal with the same sides. When our meals came out ,they both looked really good. But unfortunately mine was less than appetizing. The chicken was luck warm and kinda tough. I must say that I was not impressed with my order. I've had better chicken from chain restaurants. Very disappointing.
Todd L — Google review
As a newcomer to the area I was hesitant about the "world's best Fried Chicken" claim being a Southern boy. But they have the best Fried Chicken legs hands down. Perfectly crispy, juicy, and amazing flavor. The coleslaw, Mash Potato's & Gravy are amazing too. Service is friendly and welcoming. Parking lot can get busy during lunch/dinner rush so be mindful of that. Prices feel fair for the great quality of food. Definitely my new spot for Chicken.
K S — Google review
I went to the Hitching Post for the first time today as highly recommended by a friend who used to work in the area. So good! Great food, kind service, and the price is right. Nice little diner near the Ohio River. Atmosphere is a bit lacking and in an industrial area, but it was clean, welcoming, laid back atmosphere and great for an intimate breakfast or lunch with your closest mates! This place is a hidden gem. Not a lot of seating, but it melts your cold, frozen heart with its no-frills, no-fuss, downhome hospitality. Get the double-burger and fries! They also have the world's best chicken.

The Eagle OTR is a popular eatery and beer hall located in the historic Over-the-Rhine district. It's known for its perfectly crisp and juicy fried chicken, which is served with classic Southern sides like mac and cheese, spoonbread, succotash, coleslaw, white cheddar grits, collard greens, and tender biscuits drizzled with hot and spicy house honey.
Alright let’s get one thing straight: when a server says “this is my favorite app on the menu,” you order that app. These hush puppies were absolutely delicious. Perfectly crispy and the sauce the came with was a nice blend of sweet and tangy. Location was great, and overall, it felt affordable. If you can, sit in the outdoor beer garden. Prime people-watching spot
Charlie J — Google review
My family raved about The Eagle OTR, so the next time we were in town, they took me to try the fried chicken. I ordered the BBQ Pork Burnt Ends as an appetizer and two pieces of chicken with collard greens as my side. First, the burnt ends were tasty. The sauce was sweet and enhanced the flavor of the meat. When my dinner came, I started with the side dish, as I always do. If a restaurant takes the time to create delicious side dishes, you know the main course is going to be great as well. My collard greens were good, but a bit under-seasoned for my tastebuds. I would have preferred more pepper, but I can't ding the rating over a personal preference. The chicken itself was underwhelming. I give it a 3.5 rating while the appetizer and side dish were a solid 4.0. The service was good despite the place being packed with more guests waiting outside. All in all, The Eagle is a nice place to enjoy a meal.

We relocated from Houston to Ohio for work, and The Eagle OTR was highly recommended by a colleague. As a disclaimer I’m from Houston and am accustomed to having a plethora of dining options, of which all are delicious. I ordered collard greens, mac and cheese and of course fried chicken as the menu was limited in protein options. The greens were underwhelming and lacked seasoning and spice. The cheese used for the mac and cheese was far too strong for mac and cheese and needed smoked gouda to balance the flavor of the dish. The fried chicken was under seasoned but fried to perfection. The spoon bread was the star of the show. The atmosphere was welcoming and very chill. The drinks were strong and our server was attentive and friendly. It’s a good place to have a southern meal if you don’t know any better. I was raised on real southern cuisine so for me it didn’t meet the mark
LaSheba M — Google review
Nice historic looking place with good service. I was told the hot honey chicken was a must so thats what I ordered. Honestly it was pretty average. The hot honey did make it better but it was just okay to me.
Steve C — Google review
Honestly a banger. I had: Mac and cheese Fried chicken sandwich (ask for extra pickles) Blackberry lemonade It was perfect for two people. This place CRUSHES everything. The chicken? Brined, juicy, double dredged, then fried. Ask for EXTRA house made pickles, they're heavenly The mac and cheese? It's genuinely the best. They use garlic bread breadcrumbs on top and the flavor layering is exceptional. The blackberry lemonade? PERFECT TART LEMONADE! You can taste the lemons not just essential oils with berry syrup.

After many recommendations to come here, I finally was able to grab some lunch while in town this week. I was not disappointed! Looking over the menu, I had my reservations about the "worlds beat fried chicken" claim. And although I may not agree (just yet), I can see why some may feel this sentiment! I ordered the pork belly burnt ends as an appetizer, shrimp and grits and the half chicken order. Pork belly burnt ends 3/5 - tender chunks of pork belly smothered in a tangy bbq sauce and served with ranch. These were decent size bites of pork belly. Coming from Texas (BEST BBQ IN THE WORLD) I was expecting more of a grilled or smoked flavor. These may have been braised or boiled, as the pork itself didn't have much flavor and was carried by the sauce. Shrimp and Grits 3.8/5 - these were pretty good. White cheddar grits that are cooked like you would at granny's house in the south (not the creamy, fluffy, whipped fancy grits like most places). A bit runnier than my preference, but good flavor. These were topped with shrimp, Andouille sausage and a gravy that added some good contrast of flavor to the grits. Overall, very good and if they were thicker I'd move into the 4+ rating Half chicken 4.6/5 - yea... They know how to do some fried chicken! Double dredged and pressure fried to get that crispy skin but JUICY interior. Although you can see the flecks of pepper and seasoning in the coating, it isn't overly seasoned which leaves room for the honey drizzle (or drowning in my case lol). Very well prepared and cooked. Hats off to the chef(s)! Bartender (Carly) was very knowledgeable and attentive. Gave me the menu rundown since it's my first visit and shared her personal faves. Pro tip: she suggested getting the grilled cheese and adding a fried chicken Brest to it! There were a few more menu items I'd like to try, so I will definitely be back when I'm in town next month!
Beaux C — Google review
The chicken was by far the best! The succotash was without a doubt the best I've ever had and our server at the bar was great! Now for the bad....the bathroom was filthy with over flowing trash, the restaurant itself was extremely small and not like the one in Indianapolis where there is an abundance of room and the hostess when arriving was extremely rude! We will go back for their food but will grab and go.
Dawn H — Google review
Hands down my favorite restaurant in the world. The chicken, the biscuits, the sides, the drinks—literally everything is top notch delicious. I go as many times as I can when I visit Cincinnati and Charlotte!

Restaurant
Libby's Southern Comfort is a cozy former grocery store turned restaurant in Covington, offering a blend of Midwest and Southern cuisines. The menu features classic comfort dishes like mac & cheese, fried green tomatoes, po' boys, and crowd-pleasing fried chicken. In addition to these staples, the restaurant also incorporates influences from Cincinnati and northern Kentucky with unique offerings such as goetta hush puppies and pimento cheese fritters.
First time trying Libby’s and the food did not disappoint. The fried chicken sandwich was massive and the batter was light and crispy. I could eat this sandwich weekly. The fries were 10/10 and the flavor on the oyster po boy was great; super soft bread. Service was attentive and drinks were good. The dessert menu looked incredible. I was really hoping the crème pies were available, sadly sold out! We snagged a bread pudding to go and it barely made it home! We will definitely be throwing Libby’s into our dinner rotation.
Jackie F — Google review
The food was good. (The wife wanted more southern choices). The portobello sandwich was messy but tasty. You’ll just need to ask for extra napkins. The hot honey chicken sandwich was tasty as well, would have preferred it to be a little more messy though. The seasons fries were crispy and had great flavor. We liked the atmosphere, it was open with a rustic decor. We were there during great weather so it was open air which made it even more pleasant. Service was very good. Definitely recommend.
D P — Google review
Libby’s Southern Comfort is incredible! My best friend and I stopped here for lunch during our girls trip, and I’m still thinking about it. The hot honey chicken sandwich was hands down the best I’ve ever had—crispy, juicy, and packed with flavor. The mac n cheese? Unreal. Creamy, rich, and totally unforgettable. The restaurant has a modern, welcoming vibe, and our server was amazing—so friendly and full of great energy. Even though I live four hours away, I’ve already told everyone I know about this place. I’m 100% coming back with my husband. Libby’s is a must-visit!
Gena H — Google review
Stopped in at Libby’s at 2:45 today (Saturday) for a late lunch. The restaurant was empty other than one table of four. We made it halfway across the restaurant and were asked to wait a moment while the bartender/hostess cleaned a table. She didn’t bother to wipe down the booth seat which was covered in sesame seeds and other debris. Once seated, our server quickly came by to get our drink order. The entire visit, the bartender/hostess and two servers were either on their phones, sitting with the other occupied table and talking loudly, or visibly eating food in the kitchen. Our server was the only floor staff who kept herself busy refilling straws, cleaning, refilling sugars, etc. I ordered the shrimp roll and Southern Mac and cheese with a sweet tea. Hubby ordered the two piece chicken with Mac and cheese, fries, and sweet tea. The shrimp roll description gave the impression of big flavors. The only real flavor came from the Grippos bbq chips. There was an excellent quantity of shrimp, but even with the old bay/mayo seasoning it was bland. I was excited for the Southern Mac and cheese - but was disappointed in the flavor as well. No cheesy flavor, no southern kick at the end, not even a bread crumb. It was almost like plain Mac noodles with cheddar melted on top. Hubby’s fried chicken was better. Good crunch on the chicken skin, nice brine albeit a little salty. The meat was super juicy. His Mac and cheese was also mediocre. The fries were tasty, but not house made. The biscuit was “fine”. The sweet tea was perfect. I’ve never in my life had bland Southern food until today. My husband’s granny from Alabama would not approve.
Jen M — Google review
Libby’s was fun to visit with friends for dinner, its location is quaint and is a bit small, but there is ample outdoor seating if you don’t mind the heat. High level, service was great & food was good, but there was nothing memorable enough on the menu to make me desire to return. The fried green tomato batter was thin which caused it to flake off when I cut into it. Wouldn’t order again. The avocado sandwich was good. I had to cut the sandwich myself upon arrival. The fries were tasty too. Service was great, they executed all of our dietary modifications excellently. One callout out- the lack of other tables/customers had the waitress rushing our meal unintentionally.

Best Dammm Restaurant 200 miles from Cincinnati.. Deviled Eggs, Bologna Sandwich, Fried Green Tomato.. Great Slushie. Make your Way to Libby if you want your taste buds to dance.
Mathew C — Google review
Visited on a Saturday around dinner time. Busy but not slammed. No wait for a 2 top table. Server was great! Checked back often but was not pushy or made us feel rushed at all. Drinks: Cherrwine Bourbon Slush FTW! This is a great cocktail. Appetizer: Goetta Hush Puppies - The reason we came. Weird texture; I'm sure from the combo. Not off putting, just different from expectations. I was expecting typical, light brown southern hush puppies with a little goetta. They were dark, almost burnt and tasted that way. No goetta flavor, no light batter... Very disappointing. 1/10. The remoulade sauce was great but couldn't save them. Food: Hot Honey chicken sandwich was great! Very crispy and juicy...not an easy combo. Hot Honey sauce was perfect..slight heat, sweet and not too much of it to be over powering! Bun was perfectly toasted! 10/10 would order again. Cole Slaw (on the side). Not sure if it was homemade or food service, but great flavor, not overly dry or moist. Nearly a perfect slaw. Picked onions were STRONG! (I'm not a fan of picked onions in general so....) Garlic Mashed Potatoes: Where's the garlic? Very little flavor of any kind in this scoop of mashed potatoes. Ordinary and plain. Nothing wrong but nothing to write home about. 3/10 Willy Burger. Great flavor, albeit very dry. Smoky undertones. Hate to ruin the flavor with a condiment, but was necessary due to dryness. 6/10 = Would be higher but can you say DRY! Southern Mac n Cheese. Better than the mashed potatoes. Good flavor, gooey cheese. 8/10 Overall, 4 cocktails ($40 - not bad at all!) , 2 sandwiches and an appetizer ($57).... Total: $97 pre tip. (don't forget the 3% credit card fee! I mean, come on! Yes it is clearly on the menu but who honestly goes out with that much cash for a meal these days!?) So $100 and $10 to park in the lot across the street. Wasn't busy and no close on street or free parking (maybe there is but not familiar enough with the area to know). $130 meal that wasn't impressive or anything special. YMMV.

Really good food. Had Hot chicken sandwich (not very spicy, slight tang) with collards for a side.. Collard were the hit. Perfectly cooked! I'd have bought a big bowl and been perfectly happy with them alone. Awesome wait staff. Great attention and never felt forgotten.

American restaurant
Bar
Nestled in Northern Kentucky, the Greyhound Tavern is a charming colonial-style restaurant that has been delighting locals with its comforting American cuisine since the 1920s. With its rustic decor featuring wood paneling and cozy fireplaces, this family-friendly eatery creates an inviting atmosphere perfect for gatherings. The menu boasts a variety of hearty dishes, but it’s particularly famous for its secret-recipe fried chicken, which takes center stage during family-style dinners on Mondays and Tuesdays.
Had Valentine Day dinner here and it was wonderful. Made reservation and arrived early and was seated close to our reservation time which was 830pm. Once we was seated our server Edward came our and took our drink order. We browse the menu which was the Valentine Day menu and we both order steak. I ordered the 14 oz New York strip and my wife ordered the barrel cut filet with a salad and I order the soup which was a Cajun shrimp corn chowder. The steak had great flavor and the herb butter was wonderful on top of it. The scallops potatoes was cheesy and good. We also ordered two cakes a chocolate and vanilla with strawberry and a strawberry syrup. Overall it was a good experience and the service was wonderful.

Went for Sunday Brunch. Food was good, though a bit lacking in variety. Bacon was severely overcooked, but the chicken was the star! Service was great. Parking can be a bit of a hassle if you go during peak hours.
Robin B — Google review
I had a fantastic experience at this restaurant during Burger Week. The onion rings were large and incredibly crispy, making it easy to share half an order with someone else. The burgers were perfectly cooked and tender, with a magical sauce that elevated the taste. The fries were also very good. Overall, it was a delightful dining experience and would recommend!
Karenna M — Google review
Honestly a 10/10 chicken place. Has an elegant rich atmosphere but respectable prices. Recently added to the B line, their bourbon selection is far above average. Would absolutely do this again.
Jasper S — Google review
The service was flawless. The food was delicious. The atmosphere is warm and friendly.
Walter B — Google review
Fried chicken was 1/2 its previous size and dripping in grease. Hot Brown's presentation was a sloppy goey mess. It had obviously been microwaved as everything was flat and run together. It was unappealing, nearly stomach turning mess. The bread underneath was soggy, not toasted.
Amy M — Google review
We ate here for the first time on 7/16/25 due to the great reviews on this site. Hy husband got the chicken and said it was really good. I got the open face roast beef and it was good. We loved the cheese sticks too. However, the sides left a lot to be desired. We both thought the coleslaw was sour, too much vinegar and not enough sugar. The green beans had a good flavor, if they would leave out the sugar. I cook southern and never have I ever had green beans with sugar in them. I couldn’t eat them either. The mashed potatoes were not seasoned and edible but mediocre. We got the peanut butter pie and he said it was good. Great waitress and atmosphere. Should we go back, they need to add more sides to the menu.
Joyce — Google review
The first night we came, it was a wonderful evening being seated in the cozy tea room area, not crowded or cramped feeling. Soft big band jazz playing, clean, pleasant atmosphere with upscale decor with interesting rustic aspects. I had the grilled fish special which was Haddock I believe, and it was so delicious. Wonderful glass of house Cabernet. Amazing waiter, an older gentleman who was so attentive and friendly. Another night we were seated in a larger area filled with customers. It felt a bit too crowded for me, tables too close together but still a nice evening. A booth would have felt a bit more private probably. My salmon harvest salad was yummy. Everyone was happy with their selections but one person felt a little disappointed his was served with rye bread, that was not even toasted, and just looked like generic bread from the grocery.

Fantastic food, staff, and vibe. I will definitely be back. If you’re thinking about getting the chicken tender wrap, I highly recommend it! And add pickles to it. Also loved the 3pc mix, tenders, and deviled eggs. Next time will need to try those loaded fries…

MY ALL TIME FAVORITE CHICKEN 🤩🤩 THEY ARE VERY KNOWLEDGEABLE ABOUT ALLERGIES. They have GLUTEN FREE & DAIRY FREE BREADED FRIED CHICKEN!!!🥹 So so so good! We have been here a few times now and staff is ALWAYS friendly. The food is BIG portions! My husband and I learned our lesson to share a plate! We will be coming back! (They have a free parking lot a few buildings down & street parking)

This place is so legit. The fried chicken is some of the best I’ve had at any restaurant. It’s hot, fresh (made to order), juicy, and perfectly seasoned. Fries are great, slaw is great, pickles are great, and the galactic sauce is spectacular. I’m not even trying to hype it up, it really is just that good. We’ll definitely be back. Bonus: the staff are awesome. Everyone was friendly, had a smile, and checked on us multiple times. Very hospitable. Great team over there.

What's a vegetarian like me doing in a chicken place like this? Enjoying some delicious food! The jackfruit nuggets are great and quite unique, and the fries are so good. The whole staff made us feel so welcome and seemed to really care about us enjoying our food and our experience there. I really appreciate that we were greeted upon arrival with a quick rundown on how things work (where to order and things like that). We will definitely be back!

The food was delicious. Really some amazing chicken. If it was closer to us, I could see us getting carry-out pretty often. But the dine-in experience suffers due to all that carry-out. There are loads of people just standing around waiting to get their food. We waited around 45 minutes for two orders of 3-piece tender meals to arrive at our table. The place looks like it The sci-fi aesthetic is super fun, but the place could use a thorough deep cleaning.

Awesome fried chicken!! Their secret is it’s gluten free. All of it except for the wraps, sandwich’s and maybe one or two more items. All fried items are gluten free and most sauces. They do keep Malt vinegar on the table but don’t let that scare you. They keep the gluten separate because some family member has Celiac, I believe. Not open on Monday and Tuesdays. You would never know it is free though! Definitely not healthy, but totally awesome for your taste buds!

Amazing gluten free chicken tenders! I don’t know what magic they are practicing but this was one of the few times dining out I didn’t feel like I was missing out. Staff were very friendly and accommodating. I was unable to eat the galactic sauce (chipotle pepper allergy) and the kitchen offered to whip up some honey mustard sauce. Highly recommend!

The Purple Poulet, located in Dayton, is a Southern bourbon bistro that prides itself on its extensive bourbon collection, which includes over 500 bourbons and ryes. The restaurant hosts bourbon dinners with local distilleries and offers cocktail specials and whiskey flights.
What an amazing dining experience! Definitely in my top 3 favorite restaurants in Greater Cincinnati. Can’t wait to go back. Pictured: BlackBerry Old Fashion, Blue Cheese Fondue, Buttermilk Biscuits, Southern Caesar, Mac&Cheese, Halibut Casino style. Not pictured: Fried Chicken, Collard Greens, Bread Pudding. Absolute perfection. Do not miss out on this gem! Every bite of all of this was simply incredible. Don’t skip the Caesar or the Collard Greens!!!!

The Purple Poulet in Newport is phenomenal! Absolutely delicious and an experience worth raving about! From start to finish, everything was exceptional. Special shout out to our amazing server Kristy. We started with the Fried Green Tomato Gratinée and Pork Belly Bruschetta—both packed with incredible flavor. Between courses, they served a raspberry sorbet palate cleanser, which was a delightful touch. For the main course, I had the fried chicken meal, and let me tell you—this was the best fried chicken I’ve ever had! Perfectly crunchy on the outside, juicy and flavorful on the inside. Dan had the panned veal pappardelle, while our friends enjoyed the Seafood Mélange and Swamp Critters Provençal—everyone was blown away by the flavors! If you’re a foodie, you HAVE to try this place! Highly recommend!

This place has been on my radar for a while and we finally got the chance to try it out. Luckily we stopped in on the early side of dinner and we were able to have dinner at the bar since I didn't make a reservation. Typically I would pass on eating at the bar as I'm more of a side table or booth kind of person but I had been missing out on this one long enough. We were accomodated for two at the bar and the bartender Dillon was extremely welcoming and professional. He started by introducing himself and listing the drink specials which we ultimately decided to switch to after making choices off the menu we opted for the Peach Punch and The Cherry-Cello both or which were unique and enjoyable. I later got the Kentucky Mule I originally wanted and it was also spectacular. For our dinner choice we decided to start with the Buttermilk Biscuits as an appetizer, these biscuits with spicy peach preserves are a match and complete the sweet and savory combo nicely. We decided that out main course would be the Fried Chicken with green beans and potatoes and my fiancé had the salmon both were amazing and would be ranked in our top 3 fried chicken and salmon we've ever had. We will be back to get familiar with more of the menu and look forward to seeing what the specials may be the next time around. Give them a try you'll be glad you did.

We absolutely love this place!! The family that owns it is wonderful and they’re always present and there to host. I don’t think I’ve ever had better fried chicken in my life. I wish I would have taken a photo of the sorbet they serve between apps and dinner because it’s such a nice touch. Highly recommend making reservations but this place is fantastic for any occasion!

For me this is the best fried chicken of any where that I’ve ever been. I do always tastes my husband’s dish. It was very good as it is each time, but I can’t pass up fried chicken when I’m here. I enjoy every bite down to the last one. The chicken comes with green beans and mashed potatoes with gravy. My husband had halibut which was so good and a beautiful presentation.

After many years of wanting to, we finally made it down to Covington to experience this delightful place. If you’ve read any of my other reviews, you know I bemoan the lack of intensity, awareness and service at almost every place I visit. The Purple Poulet is an exception. The cozy atmosphere, attentive service, delicious and creative food, left nothing wanting. One thing that stood out to me, was as we entered at opening time and were waiting at the door to be seated, the bartender saw us and said that the hostess would be right with us, showing me right away that the “it’s not my job” attitude wasn’t here. I highly recommend The Purple Poulet!

Excellent service, beautiful environment, delicious food. What more can you ask for? The sweet potato beignets were 10/10!
Natasha K — Google review
Might be the best fried chicken in the city. Better batter than Libby's and way better sides than The Eagle, just as nice as Tousey House. The green beans were 🔥😋. I got the 4-piece chicken dinner. Tried the sorbet and the corn bread and cinnamon bread with their homemade honey butter. The Cinnamon bread was heaven on a plate! The cornbread was the right balance of sweet and not sweet, fluffy, but not like cake. The Saratoga chips were good, as expected, but the queso dip was great, thick and chunky, tastes like Hankey pankey topping that you put on the little rye bread squares.

Ron's Roost is a laid-back eatery with a well-stocked bar, renowned for its delectable fried chicken and BBQ offerings. The restaurant also hosts live music events on a monthly basis, adding to the vibrant atmosphere. Visitors have praised the generous portion sizes and delicious flavors of the meals. Additionally, guests appreciate the establishment's sports memorabilia and celebrity photos that adorn its walls, creating an engaging ambiance.
Known for their fried chicken, this nice family restaurant with lots of other menus choices. Servings were generous and tasty. Large open dining area with lots of memorabilia. Nice bar and outdoor seating. We called and was told we didn’t need reservations for our party of six arriving at 6…. They were wrong. They scrambled to put tables together for us. When the last half of our party arrived they were told it would be 20 minute wait. After being seated service was excellent. Parking could be tricky during peak hours.
Simon R — Google review
Heads up: As of 11/17/2024, their website menu doesn’t have the up-to-date prices. The menu inside the restaurant has higher prices than the one on their website so you may expect to pay more than expected. (Menu photos taken November 2024) Other than the website not being up-to-date, Ron’s Roost is a solid restaurant. The food is always filling and delicious and the staff is always friendly. It’s a bit upsetting that what I normally would order went up about three dollars in price and it cost about $3.19 for a soda now. I guess everyone is hurting. Parking can be difficult to navigate from time to time. There are arrows in the parking lot showing people which direction to drive but of course, there are some people who don’t pay attention. Just the other night, as me and my fiancé were trying to find a spot, we were coming up the hill in their lot and somebody was blocking the hill with their car instead of utilizing the overhang drop-off area. We tried to get around to go park and somebody pulled out in front of us going the wrong way in the lot. Just keep an eye out for people who don’t pay attention to the painted arrows on the ground and you should be okay. The restaurant seems to have ample amount of parking but it can get packed during dinner time, especially around the weekend.

First time trying Ron's Roost. Might be right for some folks. We did the "buffet" and it was okay. The sides are definitely just like what you got from school lunch. The chicken was meh but atleast it was hot. Definitely not worth the hype. To quote a reddit thread, "this is where the boomers take their parents". Sorry Ron's Roost! Maybe we try ordering something different next time.

The chicken livers were good, albeit a bit well-done, until after I put them in my to-go box and had “one more for the road.” It had gall on it. Very bitter and nasty. A taste that keeps on giving. I told the waitress and she didn’t offer to do anything about it, even though I’d only eaten less than 1/4 of the livers. “I’m sorry isn’t good enough. Meal left a bad taste in my mouth—literally. Salad was very good. Fries were not good. Neither my son nor I liked them, and the livers were a bit over done and had gall in them.

We haven't been here in so many years and it was still as good as I remembered. My oldest son & I went for Friday lunch. He ordered the Turkey & Dressing w/Mashed Potatoes n Gravy & Green Beans and I had the Double Jumbo Burger n Fries. We have zero complaints. Our waitress, Natalie 143 was very nice & attentive. We will definitely return soon! Thank you.

Really enjoyed dining here, was my first visit ever. Because I had an appointment to meet a Realtor I was concerned about the time for ordering chicken because it said it needed an extra 20 mins. Our table ordered a couple appetizers, chicken and waffles and chicken sandwiches. I had a chicken sandwich, it was perhaps the most most chicken I have ever had. We plan to go back for the chicken.

We hadn't been in years, because it wasn't that great. Thought we'd give it another try. Chicken was mostly crust with little meat on the thighs and legs. And the batter for the crust wasn't the greatest, flavor wise. The baked potatoes were under done and barely warm. The coleslaw was bland, with zero carrots. Needed vinegar and salt and pepper. Dinner rolls were fine. But we sure wouldn't recommend or return anymore.

Nestled within a Marathon gas station just outside Pleasant Ridge, Jay's Chicken is a hidden gem that many have yet to discover. This charming little chicken shop serves up some of the freshest and most flavorful fried chicken in the city, sourced from the regional chain Krispy Krunchy. While you might think gas station food can't be great, a visit to Jay's will change your mind!
The fresh smell of chicken greets you at the door. It smells so amazing! Cashier was very nice. Fresh batch of fried chicken was pulled as we ordered! They have jambalaya! Chicken was excellent. 😋 Packed with flavor. Definitely a place you should stop by, if your near the area.

After reading the reviews I decided to stop in and try the chicken and I would say it's average, the breast was over cooked. They didn't put a biscuit in with the meal as it's stated. It is a bit more expensive than I thought it would be. The mashed potatoes and gravy are not homemade either but good flavored

It's in a gas station, so don't know what you're looking for from atmosphere. Fried chicken is legit really good, and the dude I've always seen working there is pretty friendly and patient with people who don't know what's up.

Hey all, Friday Sept 23rd My Mom and I stopped in at Jay's cause I had always seen great buzz about his food and really who foesnt love good fried chicken. Getting in was a little crazy as they were doing construction directly in front of them which has to be hard on business. We went in and we were very kindly greeted . The gentleman behind the counter let us know they were pretty much out of chicken for the day since construction was obviously hurting them. We decided to buy the hodgepodge of what they had left. We had a few pieces of chicken, some red beans and rice, BBQ wings and some Sweet & Sour wings. Starting with the Beans and rice..Excellent texture and flavors. Its taste like I'd expect from a soulful grandmother..Just the right seasonings and maybe some bacon? Ok..The wings..well these are a different experience then standing at kroger and having some miserable clerk give you what looks fried pigeon wings ..Jay's wings were Huge..I ate 4 or 5 and was full....The BBQ was my fav of the 2 as it had some pleasant heat to it but still sweet. I was so full I had to save my 2 pieces of fried chicken for dinner with a few more wings. The fried chicken was very good. It was well marinated which you could see the color from the marinade. Chicken was fried so crisp but it was perfectly cooked so it was Juicy and full of flavor. Best I've had in a long time. Jay's should be very proud of their food...and their service. Its nice to have someone help you that is Happy and proud of what he's created..I ll definitely be back!! Thank you. Fred Tolodziecki Blue ash.

Not the same as it use to be when they had a gentleman that worked there since they fired him the food isn't the same biscuits are hard the chicken and tenders aren't as spicy it's ashame because it use to be really good I don't recommend this place anymore and it's more expensive

While waiting in line, a few customers told how good this chicken was so I gave it a whirl. The chicken is juicy and fried perfectly. I wish the Cajun seasoning was a little more spicy but overall I highly recommend the chicken. Mashed potatoes were good. The biscuit is soft and tasty! Everyone loves the biscuits here with good reason. For now on, this is going to be my chicken joint. Thanks for the great service!

Heard all the great things about this place, but have to say was skeptical of it being in a gas station, but, oh my, fully worth it. Delicious chicken, and the biscuit was one of the best I've ever tried. A must to try out.

Camp Washington Chili is a must-visit landmark in Cincinnati, serving up delicious chili and casual food 24 hours a day (closed on Sundays) in a charming 1940s-style space. When visiting Cincinnati, trying the local chili is essential, and Camp Washington Chili is an iconic spot to experience this regional specialty.
Great customer service, and food was good. I like the chili hotdog, the atmosphere brings you back to the 50s. Also, it's very convenient because it's open 24hours. The prices are reasonable too

Happy to have experienced a Cincinnati chili experience (beside Skyline). However, the nostalgia ran thin quickly. Food was 100% as expected and desired. However, the restaurant needs to pay their AC bill. It was uncomfortably hot. Making it equally uncomfortable was seeing the staff actively complaining and sweating during service. Either close until repaired, or manage your staff. Paying guests shouldn't be exposed during service. I am happy to experience, but one and done for this Cincinnati tourist.

Classic spot for Cincinnati-style chili! Rich, bold flavor with a nice coarse beef texture. Loved the three-way over spaghetti, and the retro diner vibe makes it even better. Open 24/6 – perfect for any time you’re craving chili.👍🏻

Camp Washington Chili is one of Cincinnati's crown jewels and his been a tradition since 1940 winning many awards for their great food. With that being said, i don't get a chance to stop by all that often but when we do we always look for a great food experience for sure. On this particular visit in October 2025 my wife and i arrived around the 10:15 am to 10:30 am hour. From the outside this place looks so amazing and when you enter the neon lights set this place off. With its 50's retro tables and chairs and the walls filled with great memorabilia, it certainly makes you feel welcome. On this rain morning we wanted to stop in to check out their breakfast of which they did not disappoint. My wife enjoyed the scrambled eggs with a side of toast which was presented to our table steaming hot. For me it was a classic double decker of ham and turkey on white bread. The servings are more than generous as compared to some other restaurants for sure so the portion size on this day was appreciated. If you get a chance be sure to check out all the articles, photos and media accolades that acknowledge this Cincinnati favorite. Camp Washington Chili is open 24 hours a day except when they close on Sundays, for time with family.

We have had Gold Star and Skyline and Gold star is our favorite of those two but wanted to try some non chain locations to see which one we felt was best. Out of the 4 we tried and adding the 2 chains, Camp Washington was not our favorite. It would rank 6th for us. The exterior was uninviting at the drive through area. Could use some cleaning. Service was okay. However, the sauce tastes like beer which for none beer drinkers it’s not appealing but that wasn’t the deal breaker. Bun was sooo soggy you couldn’t pick it up to eat. My bread and hotdog ended up being eaten separately as it fell completely apart. I’m being very generous with the stars.

A cincinnati classic, they have all the great classic diner food in a clean 50's style. the cincinnati style chili they have is a taste closer to normal chili then skyline chili

I waited 22 minutes for a tuna sandwich and fries. I won’t be going back anytime soon took up my whole lunch break, and I called the order in prior to coming they were serving everybody else ordered that came after me. I had to go up to the counter and ask them about my tuna sandwich. Three other people that came after me got their food before I did…. Tuna sandwich and fries was 3/5 stars it was tasty but nothing to keep going back .

Affordable and delicious! The service was a little off. The cook and wait staff were lacking the manager on duty after he asked them to clean some stuff during a slow period. The employees seem unenthusiastic and not motivated. The manager was pleasant, never stopped working, and dressed professionally.

Situated on the banks of the Ohio River, this historic dive bar has been transformed into a two-story Creole and voodoo-themed establishment. The venue features a spacious patio where guests can enjoy homemade pickles, fried oyster po' boys, and Sazerac cocktails.
Came here for the first time Valentine’s Day. Really affordable pricing, strong drinks, and jam packed flavors this place was wonderful. To top it off we even got to listen to a live band we didn’t know would be playing that night over a candlelit dinner. This was a amazing experience and was just the first of many visits to come.

Love this place! We finally got around to trying it and are in love. Food: Oh my god… we got the gumbo poutine, alligator and chicken, and jambalaya to split. The portion sizes are great, the flavor outstanding. Can’t say enough! We also got the banana bread pudding, equally incredible. Ambiance: The restaurant is super cool and big with different vibes depending on where you’re sitting. Love the live music. Can’t wait to come back when it’s nice out and eat on the patio!

Took my wife here for mother's Day. Overall our experience was good. The food was all good quality and our server was fantastic! Our only gripe was the price. The food was all tasty but we felt like we didn't personally love it enough to justify the price tag. I would be open to coming back but couldn't see this being my first choice next time.

The food was good. Service was great and the ambiance is Nola. The food was close to Nola it just slightly missed. The menu didn't have red beans and rice. They didn't have cornbread or serve you bread with saucy dishes. They want you to drink and I understand why. The server Richena was excellent . The price per portion are off. They are slightly small. The music isn't loud just the way I like it. The bread fosters was very good.

My wife and I came here for the first time from out in Clermont County for dinner and I made reservations for 7pm thinking it would be packed like most places on a Friday night. The first thing I noticed was the lack of cars in the parking lot when we arrived. We walked in and were immediately greated by the owner and promptly seated. The room was had a lot of character and felt comfortable. There was some nice live music playing, not to loud, and made for a great atmosphere. The waitress came to our table right away and was quick to point out she was in training and had her trainer by her side. She took our drink orders and then things really slowed down. It took a while before she returned with our drinks and when she did we placed both our appetizer and main course order all at once. The smoked gouda pimento cheese came out right away and was the highlight of the meal. Absolutely delicious and I highly recommend it. After that we had to flag down our waitress to get another drink because she never checked back on us. Our meals finally came out and everything is made from scratch including the ketchup and you can really tell. I had the catfish basket and while it was good, I could tell the fish was not real fresh and the batter while super crispy was extremely salty. I wouldn't order it again because of the salt. My wife had the BBQ shrimp and grits and didn't care for the flavor too much though it was cooked properly but that's just a personal taste so can't knock them for that. When we finished it took a while to get our check and take out box. Reviewing the bill just shy of $100 I noticed they charged an extra $2 for rocks (ice in the drinks). Of all things, that just felt like sock it to you charge for no good reason. Upon exit I used the restroom and the urinal was pretty dirty on top which obviously hasn't been cleaned in a while. It made me think the $2 charge for ice should be used for a bottle cleaner. My final though on this place is it has everything it needs to be a prosperous business but just needs a little attention to details like cleaning the bathrooms, paying attention to their recipes, and provide better service at the table side. Edit: To clerify, the Tito's was not on the rocks. It was a Tito's mixed with club soda and a lime. The Weller was also a mixed drink and did not include a $2 charge for rocks.

What a unique place. Travel to Nola without leaving Cincinnati. They brought the big easy to us. The food, the atmosphere and the music all bring you the creole feel. Be prepared to wait, the service is somewhat on the slow side, but use that to enjoy the experience. Very friendly service. Everyone enjoyed their food. They have a beautiful outdoor seating available when the weather cooperates.

A gem of Pleasant Ridge. They just celebrated 10 years with some menu changes. So good. Firecracker Shrimp, Strip Steak with Roasted Carrots, the Beet Burger!!!… it’s all so good. Can’t wait to go back!

Revolution Rotisserie easily turned into one of my favorite places just after one visit! We loved everything about the place! The ambiance, drinks, food and staff were all great! We started with the pimento dip and it was great! It was delicious with both the vegetables and the flat bread. For entrees, my wife and I had both their chicken sandwiches. Both were great but I preferred the Lightning better. The sides were also good. Mac N Cheese was good but nothing special and I thought the tater tots were cooked perfectly. A nice golden, crispy outside and a soft warm inside! Dipping them in the Lightning sauce was great! Overall, we loved our first experience at Revolutions! I can’t think of a single thing that was just alright, let alone bad! We can’t wait to go back!

Tonight was our first time to Revolution and we will definitely be back! Service was great, food was delicious and very reasonably priced. We went fairly late and they were out of the half chicken so our server suggested ways to still try the dishes we had picked, just with the meat a different style. 4 people in our party and every one of us loved it!

We even had a scoop of Bourbon Vanilla ice cream at the end. .....the ONLY bad thing...was finding parking. Definately worth finding one though! Go enjoy this place! Excellent!

This was our first time at Revolution Rotisserie. Everyone enjoyed their meal. My wife and I were able to split a rotisserie chicken by getting an extra side. We were both well fed. The top view of the sandwich does not show how big they are. The lightning sauce is a little spicy, not crazy, just good.

Update 8/21/23: They have the Wings Week event. Thomas, our server, was very nice and quick. We had the 5 wings for $7, Caribbean BBQ, and homemade ranch. Best meal bruh!! Original: We went on Happy Hours (3p - 6p), some items are about $1 or $2 off regular price. I had the Pimento Burger (single). It was good. The cilantro lime rice was a little bit too hard, and not much taste. The tater tots were good. For dessert I had fudge brownies with ice cream. It was rich and delish. The place wasn't too crowded for Friday night. The customers were mixed. However, it's hard to find parking. It's street parking.

My daughter brought us here for our monthly mother/daughter lunch. The restaurant is nestled on a corner in Pleasant Ridge. We parked behind the restaurant. (The server said there were two other areas to park also). We arrived just after they opened, we were greeted by a pleasant hostess. Seated by the window. Our server Jo was very friendly and knowledgeable about everything on the menu (as this was our first time here, and recommended by a friend.) We ordered the Freestyle Bird, award winning Gremolata fries, and a garden salad. Let me just say the chicken was extremely tender, skin crispy and flavorful. (We had a variety of dips to try. The tarter sauce for the fries was extremely fresh and delicious!) The fries were crispy on the outside and fluffy inside. The seasoning they use on the Gremolata fries is very tasty. A one-of-a kind taste. The garden salad was plentiful and filling in itself, the vinaigrette dressing fresh tasting. After our meal we ordered the blueberry crumble pie, with whipped topping to go. I got mine A La Mode (with bourbon vanilla bean ice cream.) Our server Jo was attentive, but not hovering or rushed. He was there when needed, and made sure everything was on point for a nice dining experience. My daughter wants to come back for the cheesecake, I want to come back and try the fish! Overall, a great dining experience, a new restaurant to add to our list to frequent. Highly recommended. This restaurant must be popular because as we were dining, there were frequent pick up orders, and customers coming in to dine. Including a family with children, so this is a neighborhood eatery for everyone!

In Cincinnati for work and wanted some fried chicken. Ordered lunch specials of chicken, catfish nuggets and shrimp. All came with fries and a soda. 23 minute drive back to my hotel and food was still piping hot. The fried chicken had an excellent crunch. The catfish nuggets were crispy and well seasoned. Also got a piece of yellow cake with chocolate frosting. They have about 6 cake options.

SORRY ABOUT MY PHOTO THE CHICKEN WAS SO GOOD THE FRIES WERE SO GOLDEN BROWN NICELY COOKED I STARTED EATING BEFORE I REMEMBERED TO TAKE A PHOTO, THIS RHE LEMON PEPPER WINGS BUT I ADDED FRISCH'S TARTAR SAUCE TO MY FRIES MAKING IT SO CINCINNATI THEN I ADDED SOME BARBECUE SAUCE ON THE LEMON PEPPER SEASONING MY WAY DELICIOUS...THIS PLACE DOES WELL ITS JUST THAT CORNER AREA OF ITS LOCATION KIND OF NOT SAFE TO PULL IN DUE TO FAST TRAFFIC.

I got the catfish nuggets and chicken tenders with fresh french fries platter. My boyfriend got the burger and fries. Everything came out so hot that my styrofoam box kinda melted lol Absolutely delicious. The french fries are exactly what you think of in your mind when you picture the perfect french fry. They throw in tartar sauce, hot sauce, ketchup and napkins into the bag, which was a nice surprise. I didn't expect sauces to be included. Everything is obviously made to order. The wait was typical as they were busy and we didn't mind how long it took. The only thing I found lacking in their establishment is there's nowhere to sit down. Not just that there aren't any tables, but no chairs either. Maybe look into getting some chairs or benches so people have a more comfortable wait? Anyway, thanks for the amazing service and food. Definitely want to try more stuff I didn't get to yet on the menu 😋

The food tastes fresh. Whiting has some small bones in it but its very easy to chew. None of the fried foods are greasy. Staff was friendly. It's mainly a pick up location with seating. I believe there's at least 1 table I saw. The rest are mainly chairs.

Everything cooked to order, freshest and best tasting fish around town. Very friendly, even though they were busy.

Hooks serves up the best chicken and fish when you're craving something hot, quick, and fresh. I have one negative thing to add. They need better fries!!!

Grocery store
Propane supplier
Kroger is a well-known supermarket chain that offers a diverse range of products, including fresh deli and bakery items, as well as health and beauty essentials. With its roots tracing back to the late '50s, Kroger has evolved significantly over the years. Recently, it expanded its reach by acquiring the Smith's chain, making it more accessible in various locations like Sparks, NV. This resurgence has brought back fond memories for many shoppers who recall their experiences from decades ago.
Found some good markdowns on some roast these were originally priced @$21 all of these roast so I saved like $8 per roast and I brought 3!!! The roast are only darker because I froze them sorry guys!!!! They were beautiful red when purchase!!!😉

She didn’t even have a badge to expose her name, I’m disgusted with this Kroger. I go there to do a Instacart order & I didn’t get a receipt so I go ask the lady with the black on she tells me ‘you don’t need a receipt, bye’ she had the worst attitude that definitely wasn’t needed. At the end she tried to say something about ICE which was so inappropriate. Not all Hispanic are illegal !!! I spoke to manager but she told me to come back tomorrow to offer me a $10 gift card. Which wasn’t worth it.

I am an early bird shopper and so are their security officers. Unfortunately their stockers and floor cleaner personal are too. Made a point to stay clear but, they did not return the favor. Cut my shopping short. A man sticking snack chip row was polite and curious. At 6:40 AM the lady working self checkout went above and beyond. Discrete, friendly and kind. I don't think she knew I am disabled with brain injury. Gemini AI ability to make my shopper list and structure this review. Your gift of kindness is my honored self-respect. You are that missing star out of 5

TLDR: Friendly cashier, but store needs major improvements The young woman at the baby/cosmetics register (around 5:30 pm on 10/9/25) was fantastic — friendly, fast, and professional. Unfortunately, the rest of the experience hasn't been great. Shelves are always missing items that the app says are in stock, items often on wrong shelf, produce quality is hit-or-miss (and most flies I've seen in a produce section, ever), and some staff act annoyed if you ask them to point you in the direction of something. The store and parking lot feel chaotic — frequent panhandling (as you're shopping and in lot), cluttered aisles, messy floors, a lot of rude customers, too. I’ve given this location several chances, but it consistently ranks as the worst Kroger I’ve ever visited. Will be doing most of my grocery shopping elsewhere in the future.
Nick S — Google review
Great workers, especially in the deli, bakery, and pharmacy. However, management allows salespeople to bother customers. The bathrooms have never been clean. The phone rings until the call disconnects unless you call the pharmacy. Management is also unable to address a staffing issue that led to a 40+ minute wait for a pickup order with zero communication.
Autumn W — Google review
When ever I visit this location I'm guaranteed of a few things. 1. I'm going to be begged for money in the parking lot. 2. When I walk in the door they'll be at least two guards guarding an empty cart corral. 3. I know I'm going to have issues in the store by another customer. Lines are always backed up with few cashiers. The ones that are present move very slow and busy with their phones and cussing. I know all about store budgets but customers shouldn't suffer just because Kroger doesn't want to put the money in. I tried other locations too. They're somewhat better but still not to my satisfaction. As you can see my Plus card is only used for prescription and maybe a few items. I moved on to Aldi. I wish I could get my prescriptions there. I guess I could use Walgreens...
Donald G — Google review
The actual worst Kroger. There was nobody at the customer service desk which I had to go to for them not giving me the listed discount on a previous order at this location. The employee at the cash register didn't know how to process the refund and said to "go look for someone in a red vest". I asked them where and they said, "somewhere". After I walked all around the store and didn't see a single person in a red vest and there still wasn't anybody at the customer service desk, I decided to go "somewhere" which was to the St. Bernard Kroger where they immediately took care of what I needed.
Nigel C — Google review
What isn't there to say about this Kroger? It's not built for the amount of people who shop there so aisles are difficult to navigate. Meds often get lost in the system. Ominous police constantly standing at every turn of the store. The entire place feels more like a prison than a grocery store. Frequently found moldy/rotted food. Added a star for nice staff.

Joella's Hot Chicken - Crescent Springs offers a variety of options, including boneless chicken thighs that can be grilled, fried, or made vegan. Customers can choose from seven heat levels for their meal. The signature sandwich is topped with homemade pimento cheese and pickles and served with a side dish. While some customers have noted issues with the cleanliness of the restaurant, many have praised the quality of the food and the attentive service they received during their visits.
Outrageously good! I had the cod platter with spice level "Ella's fave" and it came with parmesan fries and macaroni. I also ordered a waffle and I'm so glad I did. The spice is so tasty and more flavorful then hot. The fries are really good and I love the waffles. Just a wonderful, delicious Friday night experience overall.

Have been to a few other Joellas. We went a little before the lunch rush. The restaurant layout is odd. It seems like it was some other restaurant before and they shoehorned the restaurant into the space. They had a lunch special which was nice. The food came out and was good as expected. However, the chicken tenders were a little disappointing. The breading seemed a bit soggy and the flavor seemed a bit bland and lacked the heat level of "Hot". The fries and pickles were good. Service was friendly and efficient. The restaurant was clean. Good visit but not off the charts good. I liked the one in Hamburg/Lexington more.
Jordan Y — Google review
Had the full wings and never have I see wings fried with the feather quills still attached. They weren’t small quills. About an inch or longer. One of them had a little feather at the end. Aside from that they were dry and meatless. I threw them away and basically wasted my money. Sent email but never heard back.
Brian A — Google review
I was excited to try Joella’s. I must admit, I arrived at 8:20pm and they close at 9pm. They were starting to break things down and clean up. The staff was friendly however the food quality was inconsistent. I ordered the nugget special with fried pickles and a four-piece tender meal with fries. The pickles were piping hot fresh and delicious. My nuggets however, were way over cooked and my son’s fries that came with the tenders were cold and old. I live in the city so the location is too far to return. I should have checked my order before I left, so I blame myself. For a nearly $30 bill, my experience fell flat. Based on my experience, I am unable to recommend with confidence.

First time trying it was absolutely delicious! I ordered pretty late still was all warm I was not expecting the tenders to be so big! Mac and cheese perfect, fries loved! Only thing I am a big blue cheese person and theirs is not good looked old to be honest little bitter. Everything else top notch will be a returning customer.

Soul Secrets, located at 1434 Vine St. in Over-the-Rhine, is more than just a soul food spot; it's a place where the recipes tell the story of owner Candice Holloway's family. The menu features traditional southern platters like fried chicken and vegan options, all prepared with love and from scratch. This restaurant emphasizes historic and traditional dishes that are reminiscent of good ol' home cooking in the South.
The food was delicious, I got the Salmon Croquettes, my husband got the Whitefish, sides were Mac and cheese collard greens and sweet potatoes and a cornbread muffin. Everything is scratch made, so they were sold out of desserts. The owner was out in the room hustling so much we thought she was just another employee. Definitely recommend!

A quaint little spot in downtown Cincy! From the entrance, the staff were professional and considerate throughout the visit. The food came out piping hot! EVERYTHING was delicious! The food, drinks, all were good. Cooked and seasoned to perfection. The wait time from ordering to food on the table was less than 10 minutes. Prices were very reasonable for the food quality and quantity. Many kudos to the owner and the crew. This was definitely worth the drive. We will be back! I highly HIGHLY recommend!

Lovely, lovely proprietor training up young future leaders as staff. There can be a wait during busier times but I promise it's worth it! Portion sizes are very generous, you probably won't finish in one sitting. Go earlier if you want one of her scrumptious desserts, they sell out fast! We drive an hour and will return again and again. Our circle of friends feels the same.

The place is small but it's a nice atmosphere. The menu has bar items, however they informed us that there is no longer a bar. I enjoyed the greens. I felt that the Mac n cheese was over cooked a little. The chicken was ok, not enough flavor for me. The whiting was not good at all it was hard and had no seasoning. The catfish was fried well but had no real seasoning. The waffles looked good but I didn't try them. My husband didn't like the jambalaya. Our server was very nice.

Wonderful atmosphere, great food and service! I was served by Diamond and she was VERY pleasant and helpful. I even met the owner. So, I can see why this establishment is run so efficiently with great attitudes. And their pancakes are not pancakes.... they're FLAP JACKS!!! HUGE 😋😋😋

My friends and I visited this little secret while visiting Cincinnati and what a jewel! We were able to speak with the owner and get a little more insight on the history the name! Generations of amazing cooks and now given that same love to every person who sits in the chair! We went for dinner and found ourselves back for brunch the next morning. Such a family atmosphere of love and true hospitality! Will definitely visit again when in the Cincinnati area. 💕

I had such a great experience at Soul Secrets! Diamond was holding it down as the hostess, waitress, and even cleaning up—seriously doing it all—and still managed to be so funny, warm, and personable. She gave great food recommendations and really made me feel welcomed. The food? So good. I had the whiting, fried chicken, sweet potatoes, collard greens, potato salad, and mac and cheese—everything was flavorful and hit just right. I can’t complain about a single thing. I’ll definitely be back!

Amazing food. That chef put her arms and legs in this food that actually had my mouth feeling like the heavens was in it. I know supply chain is crazy right now, but no other restaurant has been unable to get chicken, and I've been asking around. Raise prices if you need to, but one more strike and I'm going to have to find a new favorite.

Good but for the prices should be better. The spicy party wings are small. The peach cobbler comes in a container the size of a individual side which isn't the same price so i was highly disappointed. disgusting behavior from this establishment. i ordered a 20 piece buffalo chicken wing with mac and cheese on the phone and when it arrived, they told me that it was good. i called and then when my coworker came, the wings were dry as a bone, looks like they came out the freezer and felt like it too. no buffalo sauce. and they had the nerve to upcharge to swap a side of fries for max and cheese in a tiny container. i called and asked them to remake the wings and they were completely rude and brushed me off. after finally convincing them, my co-worker went to return them. when he arrived, they said that they were unable to because we had eaten some already. what? you literally told me on them to bring it back. overall horrible experience here and unless i would either receive full compensation, refund, or a new order of wings would never ever return there. (the mac and cheese was not horrible but an up charge from the fries for an extra charge is ridiculous & i am extremely disappointed & upset with this restaurant.

The mangers attitude is ridiculous. Like if you don’t like dealing with people, step away from the counter!! This is the problem with black businesses. You reply on your own people to patron your business but your lack basic customer service skills and decency to treat people with respect. This has happened with this man every single time I came in. Exact like you are inconveniencing him coming in placing an order. This place is not that serious. I will take my business to Alabama fish. FOH!

I could’ve gone without the paper mixed in the meat on my sandwich, and I honestly can’t even be mad about the side orders they didn’t put in the bag, because I’m worried there might have been paper in them too. No doubt they use frozen fries, considering half were soggy and cold and the others were frozen in the middle.

Some out of towners who arrived in the neighborhood for a place to stay so we could watch the woman’s national soccer team play. Hook Fish & Chicken stood out as a beacon on our walks to and from downtown for what we knew would be fantastic food. On a particular night the neighborhood felt alive with folks saying hi to us as we walked by. Feeling like a welcomed part of the community even if for our brief stay we decided to give the restaurant a try! We were greeted with kind smiles as we entered. I ordered the ocean perch dinner which was absolutely fantastic! My friend had the buffalo chicken sandwich which he equally raved about. I can’t recommend this place enough, so if you are in the area give it a try! You won’t regret it!

CityBird Tenders is a casual eatery with limited seating that offers chicken tenders and sandwiches. Owned by Thunderdome Restaurant Group, it is the offspring of The Eagle in OTR. The restaurant serves cage-free, all-natural chicken with housemade craft sauces. The tenders are known for their tenderness and flavorful coating, while the fries are topped with parmesan and parsley. Customers praise the friendly staff and delicious housemade dipping sauces, particularly highlighting the lemon-thyme ranch.
Friendly cashier, tasty food, limited indoor and outdoor seating. The chicken sandwiches, lemonade, and fries were delicious. I recommend getting the meal deal to try all three!

This is a little gem at fountain square. Steven was working both times I went in and made stellar recommendations. The food was absolutely fantastic! The fries were out of this world good. I loved that they added parmesan cheese to the fries as a sprinkle because it added just the right amount of saltiness. Great place for a great meal for an OUTSTANDING price.
Joel B — Google review
I ordered delivery. The food arrived in a sealed bag, so the delivery person did not do anything to my food. This was my first try of Citybird. The chicken is a little bit spicy, wasn’t expecting that, so if you are a mild spice person, probably not the place for you. The real issue was with the fries and how they packaged my food. Whoever packed my order threw the container of honey mustard dipping sauce into the box without securing the lid, so my fries arrives very soggy and covered in the sauce meant for my chicken tenders. Their complete lack of care gives me real pause from ordering from them again.
Tim H — Google review
I'll start by saying I don't leave a lot of reviews but I can't let this one pass. these were the worst chicken tenders I've ever had. Tiny (nugget size), dry (almost like eating a saltine), truly awful. The sauces were flavorful and the only thing that enabled me to eat these tenders.
Dave Y — Google review
The TINIEST tenders ever!!! They're INSANELY overpriced for what you get! It feels like a scam. Whoever came up with the prices should be fired!!! Mid fries and you have to pay extra for the drink it says is part of the meal. And then, when you go to checkout from their online ordering, they FORCE you to make an account and give them all your data. You cannot call to place an order cause they never answer the phone. Waited 10 minutes on hold before I gave up. Avoid this place if you want good food or not to get ripped off.
Emma — Google review
Ordered a DoorDash. Delivery wasn't far and expectations were not as high as eating in but this was atrocious. The chicken was so dry and shriveled it was inedible when it arrived. The cole slaw was sour and warm with no chill even in the center of the container. The folks who sent this meal out knew they were not sending quality. Tossing out old food would cost pennies compared to the loss of revenue from me and potentially 20 others who read this review. I do appreciate the apology from the team member when I called. But shame on him for allowing this to leave the restaurant.
Anne M — Google review
The city bird OTR location is good. Location is nice when you're hanging out in OTR. The building is really small and can get quite crowded during a rush, but otherwise the food is great, the staff has always been kind even when its hard to hear in there. The lemon thyme sandwich and the seasonal teas are always fire!
Amelia H — Google review
The Tenders and the fries were both very good quality. The house made lemonade was delicious. I got the tenders fried in the spicy oil and my only complaint is that they were just a tad bit too spicy but they were seasoned and fried to perfection. Also the breading was great I like my tenders with a nice slight crisp. Will definitely stop by again the next time I’m in the area!

Great place! We started with the pimento cheese croquettes. They weren't what we were expecting but they were still awesome. They turned out to be breaded deep-fried balls of pimento cheese. You can't beat that. I thought they'd be more like pinwheels for some reason. My wife had the chef salad with grilled chicken. The salad had a cucumber vinagrette that was out of this world. I had the Nashville hot chicken tenders. They were pretty spicy but so good. Next time, I'd get the yellah least spicy version. And there will be a next time... we need to come back to try their banana pudding. We love banana pudding.

Nice interior with bar.. no true sweet tea on the menu but does have banana pudding for dessert! Re the Fried Green Tomatoes, very tasty, would prefer them sliced thinner (x4 vs X3).. fries were outstanding.. and the Nashville chicken did not disappoint - delicious with just the right heat! Service was fast and pleasant.

Food was good had good flavor in the chicken. Menu has enough options. Would recommend the Saratoga chips as they make these in house. They don't carry Coke or Pepsi so if you order one it will be a different brand which was a bit odd.. nice spot good Atmosphere. Was crowded I got the medium spicy heat. Definitely a nice little spot not much near by right now but the area definitely is growing there.

Definitely gourmet chicken sandwich. It had a nice fluffy, sweet bun. Followed by an awesome, creamy rich comeback sauce. It had some crushed peppers in it that really added a nice spice element. The chicken was the clear hero of the sandwich. It was fried perfectly. The breading was like the extra crispy KFC chicken, but I could trust where the chicken came from. Word of advice, put some fries in there. It really ups the sandwich game. Speaking fries, get some. You won’t regret it. Also, sweet vibe.

Upon entry, I asked a patron who happened to be outside at the time. About the parking lot. We made our way in to find our own seats.. Service was very slow and not friendly. The atmosphere was cold, bland, not inviting nor comfortable. Seems like a neighborhood spot. After figuring out how to place our order's on our own. Our drinks were not good, the Sprite was watered-down and my Virgin margarita was not drinkable. The bar person was not friendly nor attentive. He thought it was more important to socialize with someone he knew rather than service a waiting customer. I guess he was upset with me not liking the Virgin margarita he made for me,, which tasted like pickle juice. Yuck!!! The Korean fried chicken wings were good, the fries were hot & fresh. My friends pork nachos were cold and his wings had the wrong sauce on them. It was semi corrected by giving him another sauce. Karaoke 🎤 was funny, and fun. We wish them well 🙏.

Great fun. Service very slow and extremely warm. Ceiling fans not on. No a/c went back to try again. Place has nice ambience and is fun...Service even worse this time. Stood at bar with cash in hand for over 15 minutes while the bartender walked past me numerous times without acknowledging me and she never took my drink order. Left and went elsewhere. I will not go back. Shame because owner is nice and I liked the place.

Lovely space. Had my sister's baby shower in the back room. Super chill environment and friendly staff. A bit warm in back, but they were very accommodating about fans to keep everyone cool. Plus it's just super hot and muggy out right now.
Kaia G — Google review
This spot is a hidden gem. The service was good especially since the place had a good size gathering. And the food is Excellent. Chicken wings with their house made buffalo sauce, pork wings (which are like a large pork rib) are tender and crazy good with sweet smoke sauce. Finally, the mac n cheese nuggets are off the hook.
John U — Google review
Pretty good experience. However, the establishment has more bourbons/whiskeys. Even though it's an old distillery, the clientele is many facets of mixologists; therefore, the number of tequilas, vodkas and gins should have been greater than what was present!
She'An G — Google review
Pretty good. Very casual but good drinks and eats. Karaoke on Wednesday night is fun. Lots of seating. Clean. Tvs for sports, shuffleboard, and bar games.

Grocery store
If you're cruising through Pleasant Ridge, make sure to stop by the Marathon Gas Station located right across from Home Depot. This spot is more than just a fuel station; it’s a hidden gem where you can find an eclectic mix of items ranging from everyday essentials to quirky finds that spark curiosity. The friendly staff, including the beloved Terry who whips up delicious bacon, egg, and cheese biscuits, adds to the welcoming atmosphere.
Employees are nice. Especially Terry, she's friendly & cooks real good bacon egg & cheese biscuits! Also their soft-serve ice cream is the best!

I live literally 45 yards from this store and have been going since they opened. NO LONGER. The cashier tonight at 11:15 p.m on Sept 23 2023 charged me $7.80 for two 2 liters of Mountain Dew which are marked as 3.39$ each. Even with tax that doesn't equate to 7.80, thievery constantly cause the cashier's just charge whatever they want. This has added up over the years to an amount that could likely have been a tidy sum. I will be visiting to see the owner when he's in.

I love this place. I stop in several times per week. I appreciate the workers there. They are very nice & helpful, when need be. Of course it's gas station prices, however, you can usually find some good deals as well. For lottery players FYI, they sell the machine tickets late. Well after 9 PM. Most other places stop at 8 PM
Rhonda L — Google review
This place rules. Open late. Has a surprisingly diverse selection of items from the useful to the downright questionable. It's always fun to see what new stuff they're having. Everyone is really friendly. For what it is, it's wonderful.
Paul J — Google review
It is a great store. Everybody that works there is very helpful and friendly. The owners are really friendly and just all around great people. Love this store.
Kerry R — Google review
Convenient but prices are raised to the max and often if Theoy can charge you more for an item without you noticing, they will! But they do have a lot more options compared to other places near by.
Vanessa M — Google review
Went in for one item; they had it but it was 2 months past the best by use date! They had stuff blocking walk ways. My 12 year old daughter even commented on it not being clean. Prices are ridiculously high!
Erica M — Google review
There's a slender tall woman in this store that has no customer skills. She's rude and very aggressively inpatient. She needs to buy a personality. She's the owners sister and needs to go. C u next Tuesday

Fried chicken takeaway
Restaurant
Located on 1211 Broadway St. in Pendleton, CHX is a chicken joint owned and operated by Hickory Wald, known for their other successful ventures like 3 Points Urban Brewery, Nation Kitchen and Bar, and Rhinehaus. The signature menu item at CHX is the Bantys - lump-sized chicken pieces available in original or hot brined and golden-fried finishing options.
This place is (for one) adorable. But the chicken is phenomenal in flavor, breading, and not being super greasy/making you feel like death. For $7 you get one of the 4-pc baskets pictured which comes with 2 hush puppies and a sauce of choice. Hell of a deal. Recommend the Memphis BBQ but going back to try the others soon. The salads and Mac n cheese bowls look awesome too.
Samantha — Google review
We shared a 4-piece chicken banty that came with two hush puppies and we added a side of regular fries. Their ranch was amazing and the buffalo sauce was good too. I thought the chicken was out of this world good. And I really love chicken. The fries were really good too! Especially for cinkle cut fries! And you get soooo many of them it was like a neverending bag of fries! If I could eat one thing forever, it would be CHX hushpuppies. They were heavenly! We can't wait to come back to CHX for more of everything very soon! 🐔-🤫🐶-🍟
Thadd F — Google review
I tried the hot chicken tenders, hush puppies, and 3 sauces. (Memphis BBQ, Korean BBQ, and Chx Buffalo. Got an order for takeout. Drove 15 minutes before I could enjoy them. Absolutely delicious. Plump, juicy, well breaded chicken tenders. More like chunks, than what you’re used to seeing. Tenders were great even without the sauce. Hush puppies were still hot, they had a crispy outside, and fluffy inside. Great flavors. Let’s talk sauce. All three were great, but that Memphis BBQ was awesome. Sweet, Smokey, a tiny bit of spice. Well done. Great value, great food, really fast.
Joshua J — Google review
I went to CHX with a friend on a Friday evening around 6:30pm and there was absolutely no one there besides us. He ordered the Large Banty (Hot) with Memphis BBQ sauce and I ordered the Medium Banty (Hot) with CHX buffalo sauce. We split an order of classic fries. The chicken breading was burnt and the chicken was incredibly dry. The hush puppies were nothing special. The CHX buffalo sauce was not really a "signature" sauce that you can't get anywhere else - it mostly just tasted like Frank's Red Hot. The fries were adequate and generously portioned, but they were just standard run-of-the mill fries you can get anywhere (but I would be curious to try a different flavor). Overall, this meal was so bad that neither of us could finish eating it. The only saving grace of this place is that it's connected to 3-Points and will likely bring in a late night crowd simply due to the convenience.
Michelle S — Google review
Believe the hype. I wouldn't call The Bantys chicken tenders. More like adult chicken nuggets. I ordered the hot six piece with ranch. WOW. The chicken was flavorful and juicy. With the two hush puppies included with my portion I really only needed the four piece. My friend ordered their classic Sammy with a side of bbq fries. In my opinion, any portion size of the Bantys are the better deal but the Sammy was no less delicious. Their fries were definitely enough for two and tasted like Grippos in French fry form. If only they had fountain drinks rather than by the bottle. Nevertheless, some of the best chicken I've ever ate and I will be back very soon. PS: It should be noted that CHX is connected to the brewery next door. As in you can walk from the brewery right into the restaurant. You can also order CHX while in the brewery. However, if there's an event in the brewery and you're just trying to eat your food at CHX, if it gets loud there's no way to block it out.

I came in today excited to try Chx chicken for the first time. They were really understaffed and I was picked food up and heading back to work. Got to work and my chicken was still pink on the inside. I tried calling to see if they could replace it and no one answered then when I called again they told me there wouldn't be a manager in until tomorrow. I had heard really good things and I was super excited but now it's super sketchy.
Kierra K — Google review
Ugh I am torn because I love 3 points and love that there's a cheap, quick option in Pendleton but the food is mediocre. I've tried it a few times and both times I was just...not impressed. There are way better fast food fried chicken options in OTR and better food options in Pendleton. All that being said ...the cheese curds are pretty clutch.
Jenny F — Google review
Called a head but phone wasn't working to place a carry out order. Drive is not far but I waited over half an hour. Not enough staff! Ordered a grilled chicken Cobb salad that was missing the hard boiled egg. As a teacher I have very limited time to stand in line...that's why I tired to call first.
