Mount Fuji, the iconic snow-capped peak and volcano, is the highest in Japan and the 7th highest island peak on earth. Yamanashi Prefecture, home to Mount Fuji, offers a serene escape from Tokyo's hustle and bustle. Visitors can explore the picturesque Fuji Five Lakes, Kiyosato highland resort, historical temples like Erinji and Kuonji, rejuvenating hot springs, and renowned wineries.
Definitely recommend hiking fuji. The sunrise is amazing and though a challenge it’s worth the rewards. And you get to stand on top of Japan at 3776m Quite crowded during August and not too easy to book the mountain huts but you can always join a tour

Breathtaking and unforgettable experience! Seeing Mt. Fuji in person is truly magical. The view is stunning from every angle, especially on a clear day or during sunrise and sunset. Whether you visit the 5th Station, Lake Kawaguchi, or view it from afar, the scenery is peaceful and awe-inspiring. It’s a must-see landmark that captures the beauty of Japan’s nature and spirit. A perfect spot for photos, hiking, and unforgettable memories!
J _ — Google review
A reminder that Mt. Fuji represents strength, resilience, and enduring character, similar to the steadfastness of the mountain itself. A spiritual symbol of spiritual growth and enlightenment, a national symbol of Japan's strength, and a source of artistic inspiration.

Stunning and majestic. was lucky the day was sunny and could see the snow capped apex. amazingly symmetrical volcano.
Gunasegaran R — Google review
Don't underestimate this place, some may so it's a walk in the park but it's not. If you're not fit, you will suffer, especially if you plan on ascending and descending on the same day which is what I had done. I do a lot of walk and hike but this was the first proper mountain I had ever climbed. It wasn't so much of my fitness that was an issue, but rather, the altitude sickness. And yes, altitude sickness is real! About ⅔ into the climb, I started feeling the affects of it. For every few steps I went up in elavation, I kept stopping because I felt like hurling. Eventually, I threw up three times, at three different stages of the latter part of the climb. My companion on the other hand, who had never done this let alone walking or hiking, didn't suffer a bit. So it does differ in affects, from person to person. But having said that, do stay overnight and acclimatise for God's sake, as it will make the climb more pleasurable.
Tajul I — Google review
The gorgeous Mount Fuji! Blessed to witness this volcano peak on a clear day. One can never be tired watching this view the whole day.

Visiting Mt. Fuji is a breathtaking and unforgettable experience. Seeing this majestic peak in person feels truly magical — its beauty shines from every angle, especially at sunrise or sunset. Whether you’re admiring it from the 5th Station, the shores of Lake Kawaguchi, or from afar, the scenery is serene and awe-inspiring. A true symbol of Japan’s natural beauty and spirit — perfect for photos, hikes, and lifelong memories.

Unforgettable, an amazing experience. From the 5th station caught a glimpse of Mt. Fuji, it was raining and cloud covered most of the time. Plenty other spots to see Mt. Fuji

Fujisan Hongu Sengen Taisha Shrine is a historic Shinto shrine located in the town, offering stunning views of Mount Fuji and a serene pond. This shrine, constructed around a thousand years ago for protection from volcanic eruptions, holds great significance as the head shrine among 1300 Sengen shrines across Japan. It was once considered the starting point for pilgrimages up Mount Fuji and is adorned with a large red Torii gate.
Local shinto shrine with many local visitors. Not many tourist here as its not on the main tourist route. There is a small pond spring next to the shrine. Its was surprising nice to see such clear water spring with local fishes. Peaceful and nice if you have sometime to make a detour here. We drove here and paid parking is just next to the shrine.
Chris D — Google review
A holy place to visit while in Fujinomiya. At the entrance is a large Tori gate, walking further you’ll see the temple and some people offering prayers so be mindful when taking pictures. There is also a small lake just nearby.
Francisco S — Google review
Fujisan Hongu Sengen Taisha Shrine in Fujinomiya was really peaceful. I loved the bright orange color of the shrine and the whole area had a very calm vibe. The walk around the grounds was serene, with mostly locals and not too many tourists, which made it feel more authentic. There was even some kind of event going on when I visited, though I wasn’t sure what it was. It’s a cozy spot to take your time, admire the bridge, the garden, the park, and of course the shrine itself. Not a place with tons to do, but definitely worth stopping by if you’re already in the area.
Elijah E — Google review
Very pretty shrine during cherry blossom season, and wide spaces for walking. There is a pond where people prepare themselves for their hike up moun Fuji, so it was interesting to see the locals interact with it here
Justin L — Google review
This is a lovely place to visit. I recommend going here with a good tour guide like we did as we learnt so much about the tradition and religion from him.
Irina K — Google review
Gorgeous shrine and beautiful scenery. Cool yourself with crystalline water from Mt Fuji. Excellent photo opportunities too
Andres S — Google review
Great place to experience the temple ambiance near Mt. Fuji. The temple is very picturesque. I would say the whole experience was typical as with other temples. The place is quiet, good for praying and contemplation. The colors in winter are very muted accented with the orange color of most of the temple buildings.
Jan I — Google review
WoW! This is one of the best Shinto Shrines I’ve ever visited. Very large grounds with ponds of super clear water and it is very cold. Many smaller shrines here along with the main shrine. Super well kept, paid parking available. The small river running next to the shrine grounds is beautiful. I would love to visit again.

Nestled in Fujinomiya City, Shizuoka Prefecture, the Mt. Fuji World Heritage Centre is a striking tribute to Japan's iconic peak. Designed by renowned architect Shigeru Ban, the building features an innovative inverted conical shape crafted from Fuji cypress wood. Its stunning reflection in the adjacent water basin creates a picturesque scene that mirrors Mount Fuji itself.
I recently visited Mount Fuji's heritage site and had an incredible experience! Although the weather was a bit too cloudy to catch a glimpse of Mount Fuji, the overall vibe was serene and the information provided was fascinating. The highlight was walking up the spiral pathway, which added a unique touch to the visit. Definitely a must-see spot!
Uhlan D — Google review
Very affordable! All kids under 15 are free! Its a great exhibit you could get through it all in about 1 hr if rushing but could spend 2+ hrs if you watched all the shows and read everything. I'd say overall it was worth it especially if the weather is good and you can see mount fuji!
A S — Google review
The Mt. Fuji World Heritage Center was a really cool experience. The view from the top is amazing, especially if the sky is clear and there aren’t any clouds. Inside, you get to learn a lot about Mt. Fuji in an immersive way that makes the visit feel special. There’s also an ice cream shop inside, and the vanilla ice cream was surprisingly really good. A nice little bonus. One thing I really appreciated is that they offered free wheelchairs and even free entrance for seniors, which was great for our father who’s over 70. Overall, it was an enjoyable stop. Between the views, the exhibits, and the small details, it’s definitely worth checking out if you’re in the area.
Elijah E — Google review
A beautiful and informative museum dedicated to the history and geology of Mt Fuji. Video panels spiral upwards ending at the top gorgeous view of the majestic mountain. People lay down on the shiny white floor to take interesting reflective photos. Small but nice gift shop and snack bar. Inexpensive parking across the street.
Aqua N — Google review
If you want to ascend Mt Fuji virtually without getting out of breath, this is the way to do it! Inside is a spiral ramp with curved screens that show the views and terrain from the mountain at different elevations from sea level to top. There are also interactive displays on several floors on the way up if you need a rest while climbing. Their website acutally has great photos of what you can expect to see inside. There may be an optional special exhibit (not to be confused with the included cinema room on the same floor). You pay for a ticket at the time of admission and it actually cost more than the base admission charge, so you have to decide if it's worth it depending on what's exhibited. With the favorable exchange rate, admission for both was still only about $6.50 (700yen included general admission and the exhibit). What's also great about Fujinomiya: after you visit the center, If you wander along the river path towards the mountain for two blocks and hang a left, you'll find a small food court on your left, the highlight of which is a water fountain that allows you to drink spring water from Mt Fuji! After you enjoy a meal, Shiraito falls is only a 30 minute bus ride away. Take a left and continue along the same street for about 25m to the bus stop on the same side of the street (the bus will be heading to your left. It's a lot of lefts, haha). We used Shizuoka as our base to get to Fujinomiya for its proximity to both the Shinkansen and Tokaido/Minobu lines. Although the Shin-Fuji Shinkansen station is closer to Fujinomiya, it's about a 1.5km walk to the Minobu line station to catch the train; if you stay near the Shizuoka station (Hotel Associa Shizuoka is great and super-close to the station), both train lines are right there in the same station.
Greg S — Google review
We went on a Saturday around 3pm and there was no wait to get in. I did not reserve tickets in advance but it was ok. The exhibit is really cool walking up the spiral path to see the different exhibits about Mt Fuji. There are two lookouts to see Mt Fuji if you’re lucky and the skies are clear it is a stunning view. The library closes earlier so check that out first.
Katie S — Google review
Hiked Mt. Fuji before coming here and eventually learnt a lot about Mt. Fuji. Particularly interested in how Mt. Fuji is incorporated in Japanese history and culture. You will find lots of interesting facts about Mt. Fuji. On the highest level, you can see a very beautiful view of Mt. Fuji (unfortunately I came when it was cloudy but I can imagine how beautiful it is). It’s a perfect place to capture the mountain since Fujinomiya is the closest city to Mt. Fuji compared to other places (e.g. Fujiyoshida, Yamanakako, Gotemba). Staff is very friendly and guide me when I have questions. There is a cafe and souvenir shop which I think pretty unique since I couldn’t find the merchandises in other places.
Aurellia W — Google review
The building is a work of art, with a Japanese torii gate out front. Inside, Mt. Fuji looks like a masterpiece painting. The staff were really friendly, and I totally fell in love with this spot.

Waterfalls
Shiraito Falls is a wide and unique waterfall located in the picturesque Fuji-Hakone-Izu National Park. Despite being only 20 meters high, it is incredibly captivating due to its hundreds of individual streams that span across a 150-meter-wide rockface, resembling flowing white threads. Visitors can also enjoy breathtaking views of Mount Fuji and Suruga Bay from the daring Mishima Skywalk, which is the longest footbridge in Japan.
The place is beautiful, even though I didn’t get to see the view of Mount Fuji. Still, this spot is definitely worth visiting. The water is so clear that you can see the bottom easily. Unfortunately, swimming is not allowed here. But for the sake of safety and preserving nature’s beauty, it’s a necessary rule
Fireflies 9 — Google review
I recently visited Shiraito Falls in Japan, and it was an absolutely magical experience. The falls were stunningly beautiful, surrounded by lush greenery, and the area was incredibly peaceful. The maintenance of the site was top-notch, and the whole atmosphere was just calming and refreshing. I highly recommend it!
Uhlan D — Google review
We visited Shiraito Falls on a cloudy and rainy day, but despite the weather, it turned out to be such a memorable experience for all seven of us in the family. The soft drizzle actually made the surroundings feel more magical as the mist from the falls blended beautifully with the fog, giving the whole place a dreamlike atmosphere. The sound of the cascading water was so soothing, and the lush greenery around us looked even more vibrant under the rain. What made the visit even more special was that, just for a brief moment, the clouds parted and we caught a glimpse of Mount Fuji in the distance. It felt like a small gift from nature after waiting patiently in the rain. The walking paths were easy to follow, though a little slippery, and we took our time enjoying every view along the way. Even with wet shoes and umbrellas in hand, we couldn’t help but smile. There was something peaceful about being surrounded by nature, hearing the water roar, and feeling the cool mist on our faces. Shiraito Falls truly lived up to its name as one of Japan’s most beautiful waterfalls, rain and all.
Resh R — Google review
Shiraito Waterfall is a peaceful and refreshing stop in Karuizawa. The waterfall is not tall, but it stretches widely across the rock face and flows in thin, silky streams that really do resemble white threads. The surrounding forest makes the whole area feel calm and secluded, and the short walk from the car park is very manageable. A great place to enjoy nature, take a slow stroll, and unwind from the busy town areas. Beautiful in every season, especially during cooler months when the mist adds to the atmosphere.
Daddydrives — Google review
The place felt magical, absolutely stunning! Just being there was so relaxing and calming. It’s a small area, so there’s not a lot to do right at the spot, but it's worth a visit if you're nearby. We stopped by on the way to our paragliding activity and loved the peaceful vibe. There's also a nearby farm that's great for a family outing. Definitely recommend checking it out if you're in the area! There wasn't any entry fee, just the car parking fee, which was 500 yen
Ashar M — Google review
Very nice place with amazing views. From here you can also go up to the Shiraito Natural Park with lovely views and if you are lucky and have clear skies, you can take amazing pictures with mount Fuji in the background. Recommend going early in the morning if you also want a good view of Fuji.
Adrian S — Google review
A short drive from Lake Tanuki if you are there to get a view of Fujisan. The waterfall was so beautiful in the fall. We went there mid November so the foliage was still not in full effect but the waterfall itself is breathtaking! You can park at the waterfall official parking lot and pay 500Y each for entry fee and parking fee. You can catch a glimpse of fujisan from the parking lot if you’re lucky!
Supisa K — Google review
There are many waterfalls in Japan called Shiraito Falls. This one is quite large. You can see Mt. Fuji, and the whole area is a World Heritage Site, so it's in a different league. It looks like it's full of foreigners. Everyone is well-mannered. It's pretty crowded, so it must be a popular tourist spot. You can also see Tokidome Falls. The motorcycle parking lot closest to the waterfall costs 100 yen. There is a larger parking lot a little further from the waterfall, but it costs 200 yen. As it has become a tourist spot, there are several restaurants and toilets.

Bodies of Water
Lake Tanuki, located in the northern part of Shizuoka Prefecture, is a man-made lake known for its stunning views of Mt. Fuji. The iconic volcano is reflected in the water, creating a popular photo spot for photographers and nature enthusiasts alike. The tree-lined lakeside offers vibrant colors throughout the seasons, with cherry blossoms in spring and beautiful autumn foliage. Visitors can enjoy fishing, boating, and hiking around the lake while taking in the picturesque scenery.
This is a good place for relaxation in nature. On a sunny day, it's a great spot to see Mt. Fuji. If you have the time, I recommend spending at least 2 hours here. So, you can leisurely stroll around the lake and maybe bring your own food for a picnic. Although renting a bike is available, I'm advised not doing so because The path is fairly narrow and is the same path that walkers use. Despite the large number of families and couples camping there, it doesn't feel overly crowded. If you don't have a car and have to travel by public transportation, you must carefully manage your schedule or you could waste hours waiting for the bus. Noted: I visited there in the early summer.
Pitchaya S — Google review
Beautiful lake. One round is 3.3km, there is dedicated road for bike and walking.
Thang V — Google review
The view was so unreal it was out of a dream! So worth a drive to see Fujisan from this side. We arrived late morning and there was no crowd!
Supisa K — Google review
A quiet place to see Mt. Fuji, though it’s a pity for me that I didn’t see it when I arrived. So many cloudy days in April 😿 BTW, free parking here. And don’t stay overnight due to bears.

Magical place. A huge beautiful lake surrounded by nature. If you are lucky you can take a great shot of mount Fuji.
Asahi S — Google review
Fantastic views in this area, not least of Mount Fuji (apparently, you can see the "double diamond Fuji" phenomenon from here). Beautiful lake with a campground and, according to a sign, an onsen (I haven't tried it). An hour by bus from Fujinomiya Station and it's on the same bus route as the Shiraito Falls, so you could visit both places in a single day trip.

The Fujinomiya Yakisoba Antenna Shop is a no-frills spot that offers generous servings of fried noodles, along with outdoor seating. This local specialty is a must-try for visitors to the Fuji area, featuring firm locally-made noodles, flavorful sauce, and unique toppings like Nikukasu meat residue and sardine shavings. The shop has gained recognition, winning the Gold Grand Prix at a national competition for reasonable local food.
Had both original and mixed chili flavour. both are delicious, fragrant! Oishi! Noodles are chewy and flavourful. Elevated with the spices. And there’s free mount fuji drinking water. Must try when you are in that area. It is just a few mins walk from Mount Fuji World Heritage Center.

If you're looking to soak in the breathtaking beauty of Japan's iconic Mt. Fuji but can't make it to the summit, a visit to Fuji Subaru Line 5th Station is an excellent alternative. This accessible spot offers stunning panoramic views and a chance to experience the mountain's unique atmosphere without the strenuous climb. At an elevation of 2,203 meters, you can enjoy cooler temperatures even during summer months—so don’t forget a light jacket!
We visited the fifth station as part of an organized tour. The tour included many uninteresting places - some nondescript lakes and tourist villages. But this place is truly impressive. Fuji is omnipresent - you see it from everywhere. Some Japanese worship Fuji as a deity, and now I understand where this veneration comes from. We visited Japan in the hot season, but at the fifth station it was cool - "ringing" and clean air. We were above the clouds. The observation deck offers an incredible view. I recommend everyone to repeat our trip to understand the soul of Japan.
Game G — Google review
Going to this place by bus actually amazing. You can see the top of the Mt. Fuji right along the way to this station. but not everyday Mt. Fuji is visible it depends on the weather and the season. It can covered by cotton candy that you can’t see anything. Note: few restaurants available in the area. Restroom also available but you need to pay 100 yen. I saw some horses too but I’m not sure if they are for rent. There also a shrine at the back that you can visit. Souvenirs? Lot of souvenirs available from magnet to keychain, tee and food. Lower your expectations
Gennalyn C — Google review
Came here as part of a tour and we were extremely lucky to get good weather and see Mount Fuji. There are many shops here selling beautiful postcards and posters, and some charge you 100 yen to use their bathroom. It is 28th October today and some leaves are already changing colour ❤️
André M — Google review
Nice observatory point. We could not go further up from here owing to poor weather. Saw the Fuji up close and on the opposite side as well the views are amazing. Lovely spot. There was a souvenir shop nearby, purchased some fridge magnets and snacks, also toilet is also nearby, all clean and fine.
Sujay S — Google review
The start of many a journey to the top of Mt Fuji. There are plenty of things to buy food wise and souvenirs. There are a few restaurants. You can also hire hiking gear here. There is also a limited number of lockers. But beware the shops do not stay open to late. There is accommodation that you can stay in. I would probably say book in advance. The bus also runs up here from the town below as well as other buses that come direct from Shinjuku.
Wayne J — Google review
We, a group of 15 Malaysian hikers, rolled into Fuji Subaru Line 5th Station (2,305m) by bus from Kawaguchiko Station on 3 August 2025 at 9:15 am. The ride took about an hour, smooth and scenic, with the mountains slowly revealing themselves as we got closer. I tucked my return ticket safely in my bag, already knowing it would feel very different holding it again after the climb. This spot is the highest point on Mt. Fuji you can reach by car or bus, and stepping off the bus, I couldn’t help but feel thankful for that convenience. At the same time, I thought about the old pilgrims who used to start at the very base, walking for days before even reaching this altitude. Their journey was not just physical—it was spiritual. That thought instantly gave the place a sense of weight and meaning. A Place with History and Spirit In the past, climbers followed the “stations” (gōme) marked along the pilgrimage route. The 5th Station only became a major hub after the Subaru Line road opened in 1964, bringing thousands of modern hikers here every summer. Yet, even with the convenience of buses and shops, the Komitake Shrine nearby still whispers of older times, when people came here to purify themselves and pray before heading into the clouds. First Impressions – A Village in the Clouds The atmosphere at Station 5 was unlike anywhere else—a small mountain village buzzing with energy. Shops sold everything from hiking gear to keychains, steaming bowls of curry rice, and hot noodles. Tourists were snapping photos against the sea of clouds, while serious hikers were sorting out their packs and lacing up their boots. Yes, it was crowded, even a bit too commercial at times, but the excitement in the air was contagious. Like many others, I joined the tradition of picking up a wooden hiking stick, attaching a small flag, and stamping it for the first time. Holding it in my hands felt more than symbolic—it was as if I was carrying a piece of history with me, one that would collect the story of this climb, step by step. Gearing Up for the Ascent We spent about an hour at the station, partly to adjust to the thinner air and partly to take it all in. Our Ohana guides gathered us for a safety briefing, walking us through the Yoshida Trail and sharing tips for pacing, resting, and staying safe. I downloaded the official Fuji hiking app, which turned out to be surprisingly handy for tracking progress and checking our altitude. Each of us also received a small wooden souvenir with a stamp and a green wristband—practical tokens that doubled as reminders of the journey we were about to begin. The wristband was especially important, as we had to show it at the main gate before stepping onto the trail. Reflections at the Gateway Standing at 5th Station felt like standing at a crossroads. Behind us was the comfort of shops, food, and the crowd’s noise. Ahead lay the silence of the mountain, the challenge of thin air, and the uncertainty of the path. The moment was both ordinary and profound—just another stop for some, but for us, it was the gateway to something greater. After final checks, quick encouragements, and a few nervous smiles, we showed our wristbands and walked past the gate. The climb had officially begun. Fuji Subaru Line 5th Station is more than a rest stop—it’s where adventure, history, and spirituality meet. A little touristy, yes, but also unforgettable. The perfect threshold before stepping onto Japan’s most iconic mountain.

It was very windy, cold and foggy. At that time the fog was very thick. But luckily the wind pushes the fogs away so we can managed to see the peak of Mt Fuji. Very clean and fresh air helps refresh the body and mind. Beautiful mountain scenery along the road uphill is trully relaxing. At the 5th Station, we can find some souvenir shops, cafe and restaurant with traditional japanese food. Just take a seat, relax and enjoy the views.

Great views of Mt. Fuji and easy access to washrooms and food. A bit of a drive to get up here but well worth it for the pictures. No one in our group had any trouble with the altitude or altitude sickness. It is a bit of a walk from the stores to the bus parking so make sure you leave extra time to get back to your bus.

Fuji-Q Highland is an amusement park located near the base of Mount Fuji in Fujiyoshida, Yamanashi. It's a popular destination for thrill-seekers with its impressive collection of rides, including Takabisha, the world's steepest roller coaster, and other famous coasters like Eejanaika, Do-Dodonpa, and Fujiyama. The park also offers two haunted attractions - Hopeless Fortress and the Haunted Hospital.
This is my 2nd visit to Fuji-Q Highland, and I was worried about how the day would pan out as my last visit was atrocious! However, let me say that today was a very pleasant surprise! I paid for the priority entrance, which gets you into the park 30 minutes early (which is massively worth it). Head for the big coasters first - Zokkon and Fujiyama, as they get the biggest queues! They have a lot of great attractions, but make sure you read the opening times of all attractions as some things do close at 1.30pm and some open later in the day. They do have a detailed maintenance schedule on their website, but the opening and closing times did catch me out on my last visit. Also, attractions will close early depending on the queue times (for which they make announcements around the park), so make sure to plan everything you want to ride in time. There are vending machines next to each ride to buy fast passes, which is handy at busy times! The food stalls in the middle of the park are great, I had the Indian food which was lush. They are well-priced, too. There are lots of vending machines all around the park. There are at least 5/6 gift shops with lots of cool merchandise. There is also a 7-Eleven outside the park! Great for fussy eaters or cheap snacks! When visiting, make sure to plan ahead and get there early for a head start as when it's busy, it can be very unorganised and stressful.

We went on a Monday in late October, and it wasn’t too packed. At most we waited an hour for one of the big roller coasters. If you are looking for a park with some of the best roller coasters ever then this is it! We loved Takabisha so much, it was scary and exhilarating all at the same time! Eejanaika is going to mess with your mind, all its twists and turns. But there are other great rides too, a special mention needs to be made for Tondemina (La pizza) ride that was fantastic. This park is filled with thrills. We had the Fuji pizza which was great. As a tip, the all day pass lets you re-enter, we went back to our hotel then returned at night, well worth it. I’ve read reviews that say the safety checks take a while and they do but honestly I was glad for it. Was it worth the money? Absolutely! I’d love to go again on a clear day when I can see Mt. Fuji.

Amazing rides - better than any other amusement park i've been to. They lack the intricate themes other amusement parks have (e.g., Disneyland) - more bare bones adrenaline rush. And they are very good at this - rides are so fast and frenzied that it's actually important to listen to the instructions and maintain the posture they tell you to have. They require emtying all pockets before boarding rides, and also remove glasses (they didn't even allow using goggles). They have free lockers at each ride. There are some vegan options in the food court (vegan ramen and curry). Amusement park food, not bad but not good either. there is also a Starbucks with some vegan snacks and vegan lattes. When we were there the lines were very short, so we would probably could have done without the priority tickets we bought. But I read and heard that in most times the lines are very long, and priority passes are recommended. We bought everything in the fuji Q website - if the site crashes, try turning off the google translation - it worked for us.
עמוס ר — Google review
We got there right as they opened and there were little to no lines which was great. We were able to get through a few rides in just over an hour which is awesome! As the day progressed, the lines did start to get longer, but we definitely got our money's worth with the day pass. I think the longest we waited for a ride was about an hour. Also, the views of Fujisan were breathtaking! Especially from the top of the highest roller-coasters. Definitely will visit again next time we are in Japan!

A must if you visit Fuji area. Not that crowded during autumn season, no long lines. Really fun amusement park. Great viewing spot of Fuji. Really cool roller coasters and also a really good and huge Haunted House of 3 floors or so. Available different types of food: recommend the curry pan. Naruto themed area was really fun and entrance has a direct train station: easy to visit.
Alexandra R — Google review
We went on a Autumn Thursday so there weren't that much lines! We were able ride all the rides that were open that day. They closed some down pretty early like the pizzala and the paniclock. I think Dodonpa closed down. However, the must-try rides for speed and thrill that are usually open are Fujiyama, Takabisha (the vertical drop was amazing), Eejanaika(fast and fun), and Zokkon. The Naruto village was a great place for me since Im a Naruto fan!

The world’s longest and insane rollercoaster with a 3.5 g force. People who love the thrill. Can’t recommend enough. We stayed at the hotel in the park and get early pass into the park. I upgraded my room to the theme rooms and it was like living in the world of Lisa and Gaspard. Closest view of Mt. Fuji when your at the highest point on the coaster.
Iva T — Google review
We visited on a weekday and it was not too crowded actually. Most visitors are local Japanese. The park has English translations at every ride and facility. It was not difficult to navigate in the park as foreigners. We were thrilled at some of the rides and totally appreciated the effort being put in designing such rides. The longest wait we did was around 80 minutes but it could be longer on weekends. Purchase fast passes if needed. You will need to register for facial recognition right before entering as every ride will require that facial scanning for you to enter. Clean park. Excellent food options. Restaurants and food stalls charged reasonably and food actually tasted good.

Very beautiful Shrine. The 1000 years old tree are so awesome. It will be even more beautiful on Autumn when it turn all the leaf in yellow. It took me 1 hour walk from Shimoyoshida Station but enjoy the journey very much. The shrine are quite and peaceful. Highly recommended.

We chose this location on a day trip through the Fuji area because of the peaceful beauty of all the surrounding trees. It was very calm with a feeling of being a special place in nature. It's a less busy spot and less about seeing Fuji at this location. There are shrines and statues to view too but our favorite part was the nature. If you love a beautiful secluded nature spot then this is a great place for you to visit! If your main motivation is to see Fuji or just shrines then this may not be your favorite location.

If only I would check that this is beginning of Yoshida trail… I would start my journey from Shrine, instead 2 days before we started from Subaru 5th station. shrine is lovely place surrounded by old cedar trees. Very refreshing in hot summer day.

We discovered the shrine totally by accident, without realizing its significance as a holy site and a spiritual trailhead for pilgrims looking to ascend Mount Fuji. We saw a wide woodland path from the road and decided to park up and go down it. After maybe 200 yd, we came to a peaceful stream, a bridge, and a huge wooden gate leading to the shrine complex. The gate is the largest of its kind in all of Japan. The shrine is still very active, there were people here praying and paying their respects- both employees and visitors. All the structures throughout the shrine had informative plaques in Japanese and English explaining the significance and how to properly pray here. Sometimes you visit somewhere and you can just feel the significance in the air, and this is one of those places. We were able to wander around the entire place at no charge.

We visited this shrine on our first day's excursion in Tokyo. This was our very first stop. I love the quite, peaceful location in the forest and enjoyed walking amongst the tall, green trees. The grounds are well kept and there were plenty of parking spots available. The were a few other shrines in the vicinity and we explored them all. This shrine is believed to be used for worshippers of Mt Fuji and deemed as a sacred place.

Nestled in the scenic landscape near Mount Fuji, Makaino Farm Resort is a hidden gem that promises an unforgettable experience for visitors of all ages. This interactive farm offers a delightful array of activities, from pony rides to petting friendly livestock, ensuring that children are entertained and engaged throughout their visit. The farm's spacious environment provides ample opportunities for relaxation and exploration, making it perfect for families and couples alike.
Fun day out in the sun. Great space, lots for families to do. Free parking at their parking lots, plentiful at Lot #2 across the road. Paid entry, then most activities cost extra (¥100 for pet food to ¥1,000 for other activities - prices as of mid April 2025). Photos are free - and the view speaks for itself (it's amazing!). We didn't make it to the iconic big swing as the queues were hectic. Come with children, come as adults - there's something for everyone. Don't get me wrong, this is definitely a tourist attraction. There isn't much that screams "authentic Japan", but you aren't coming here for a lesson in Japanese history. It's essentially a farm style theme park - and that's totally fine.

Makaino Farm Resort is the perfect place for the whole family to spend the day. The resort has designed a variety of fun activities for groups of friends or families. The resort features a variety of animals for visitors who love and are interested in interacting with them. Additionally, Makaino Farm Resort offers numerous locations where you can capture stunning pictures of Mt. Fuji in the background, provided the weather is favorable. However, we didn't have good weather when we were there. But we still enjoyed what the resort had to offer.

Imagine a beautiful farm to spend the day at. Yes, this is one of the places where you can do just that. Interact with the animals, from small rabbits to goats, horses, and cows, feeding them. There's also a camping area for those who like camping, several beautiful spots for you to photograph the famous Mount Fuji, and beautiful flowers scattered and planted throughout the place. There's a food court with some restaurants serving delicious dishes and desserts, and you can also sample dairy products from the farm itself. The parking lot is spacious and large. It's a good idea to wear comfortable walking shoes, as it's a very large place with some steep climbs.

Fujiyama Snow Resort Yeti is a cozy ski resort situated on the southern side of Mount Fuji, offering picturesque views of the iconic mountain. It's a great spot for families to enjoy some snow activities while taking in the beauty of Japan's tallest peak. The resort is particularly popular among beginners due to its easy navigation and ski school facilities. Additionally, it stands out as the earliest opening ski resort in Japan, thanks to its artificial snowmaking capabilities.
Nice ski resort with lots of facilities closer to Tokyo (2 -3 hr drive). It’s relatively crowded. Even during snow days, roads to the resort ( green line) is cleared. However, this year due to lots of snow fall on the day it took longer to get the roads cleared. Needs tickets for everyone who enter area. 2 Large restaurants , skii rental shop, and some fire area to warm are also there. Overall it is a very good area for beginners. There are some schools also available. Nighttime skiing also possible here till 10:00 pm. Night time pass is available separately as well from 3 pm for a cheaper price.

Too many people, small resort. Beginner courses are good for beginners and course C & D are decent. It’s just too busy to get a few good runs in. Better off going up north if you want a proper experience. The line to the chairlift was about 200 people long

I had my very first ski lesson here, and it was such a lovely experience! I took a beginner lesson with an instructor who was really helpful and patient. I also spent some time trying on my own to get used to the skis – though I still have a lot to learn (I kept falling and accidentally going sideways instead of straight down the slope 😅). The facility has all the necessary equipment, which made things super convenient. And the view of Mt. Fuji while skiing? Absolutely breathtaking – definitely the highlight of the day! 🌄 Overall, a fantastic introduction to skiing. I’ll definitely be back for more practice!

Fujiyama Snow Resort Yeti, is renowned for its early season openings and diverse range of activities suitable for all skill levels. The place is Ideal for beginners and intermediates, offers a gentle incline and is equipped with a magic carpet and high-speed quad lift.

I came in mid-November. The temperature was around 16°C at noon, so naturally it was a bit warm for skiing. We skied on a slope with artificial snow; it wasn’t too bad for beginner and intermediate skiers. The slope was quite narrow, and you can only reach the top by a ski lift, which takes a bit long. There is a place where you can rent ski pants, jackets, boots, skis, and snowboards, but they don’t rent accessories like helmets, goggles, or gloves. There’s a small market and a restaurant. The draft beer was really good. For those planning to rent equipment, I can say the gear is old and not very well maintained. Still, the facility itself was well-kept, and you can see both Mount Fuji and the ocean at the same time.

On 2nd of January 2023. Finally we reached our destination. Could see a crowd , we could see many many cars but ample parking space . Many foreigners we could see. The name Yeti itself sounds Nepalese borrowed word lol. It was Not a bad weather and it had not so steep slopes . Perfect for the beginners and kids . After 8 hours of snow boarding practice , we had our dinner in a Food court. And drove back home the same evening . Thanks for reading … Please feel free for any kinds of infos or curiosities in this fun vid. This place I highly recommend for a family and the beginners. Not so cold, clean toilets, ample locker systems, restaurants are in a waking distance . The beginner stages are less steep and walkable ( no need to use the surface lifts just can walk up and skate down several times even could go and come the toilet in a short time without wasting the precious and enjoyable time ) I experienced that instead of taking breaks for drinking , it’s better to carry some drinks with you and keep at any corner somewhere at the ski spot ( best thing about Japan , no one take away the private belongings. ) Also recommend to carry your own ski suits , goggles , hat and gloves at least . It really minimizes the expenses in a huge term. As these kinds of gears are distinctively expensive there which is obvious. It’s like the price of a cup of coffee at the summit of any mountain lol. Mask is very essential specially while going to the enclosed buildings like restaurants or toilet or locker room or entry registration office. BTW better carry the cash otherwise for the creator card payment you need to go back to the main entrance again and again. Parking fee is 1200¥ and I didn’t understand was 500¥ at the toll kinda entrance just before entering the ski spot territory . Trespassing punishment May be lol. Anyway we enjoyed the fullest . Have fun …

Situated adjacent to the popular Fuji-Q Highland amusement park, this modern hot spring facility provides a relaxing experience for visitors. This onsen is great for a spa day! We went on a weekday and it wasn't busy at all. You take your shoes off right when you enter and put them in lockers. The first desk is for booking the general facilities. If you go around that desk and to the right, you can book massage appointments. One hour was 6,000 yen (about $35 USD). We had two girls and one guy and we all had our massages in one room together. Fully clothed and with the lights on! It was different than other massages I’ve had but REALLY good! My only complaint was not being able to call/book in advance and the facilities were a bit dirty. I didn’t see the spa areas.

Crowded and popular amongst locals. The onsen is rustic and the outdoor onsen is nice to chill and relax. There are enough baths to relax and the entire place is meant for relaxing and healing.

Amazing experience. We loved it so much that we went twice. They don’t allow tattoos inside, and it’s separate areas for men and women. The price was very moderate, ¥ 1600 per person on weekdays and ¥ 2000 on weekends. There’s also a nice view of Mt Fuji from the balcony.

Front desk is nice but the company they outsource for services is not working together as a team. Front desk rectified my poor experience with a refund and many apologies. ~ I was told tattoos need to be covered and was sold coverings at the front desk for $20. I did not want to go to the onsen. I tried to book a lymphatic drainage massage as an alternative service to be respectful of the onsen rules.... and the reception TOLD me I MUST to go into onsen for steam before lymphatic. The masseuse did not like me! She was fully clothed, staring at me delivering multiple dirty looks, physically pushing our tour guide and speaking aggressively to her in Japanese then in English telling me to GET OUT is unacceptable. I am a naked woman being humiliated in front of multiple other women because... I was told I MUST enter the onsen. Talk about setting me up to fail!!!!!!!!!!!

The indoor and outdoor baths were amazing, and the atmosphere was so peaceful that we didn’t want to leave. The facilities were great, the water felt incredible, and everything was perfectly organized. Truly one of the best onsen experiences we’ve had — highly recommended for anyone visiting the area!

Hot spring was good. You don’t get a yukata(not sure if this is how you say it), so every time when you get to a public area you need to put your own clothes on. All the power outlets are blocked off. You need to rent a power bank. There are quite a few things to do, but be ready to pay for everything. Admission fee is also pretty high compared to other places that I have been that didn’t charge for every single thing. Massage was below average.

Thanks for the information staffs patiently and nicely help us to get the most out of our limited time. Thanks to them, we got a two day bus pass which is awesome to visit Mt Fuji. We also get to see the Fujinomia and heritage center in a fast speed. It made our day!

Asagiri Plateau Paragliding School offers an amazing experience amidst the stunning natural beauty of Fujinomiya, Japan. The school provides tandem paragliding with experienced instructors, allowing visitors to soar through the skies and take in breathtaking views of Mount Fuji. The friendly staff ensures a memorable experience, offering pick-up services and even providing a delicious curry lunch cooked by the staff.
We planned to do the tandem flight initially but changed into short flight to impermissible weather. Starting was a bit hard to remember all the steps, but after several times finally I managed to get it right. We got 5 tries for 10,000¥. Bear in mind that you will need to climb a small hill which need a bit stamina needed. The group that we joined with also so friendly and supportive, we all had a great time despite small drizzles. Highly recommended to enjoy beautiful view of fuji.

Very good service. As a foreigner, they helped me even though I didn't speak their language. My mother is 65 years old and even she was able to fly!

We had a great time flying with Asagiri! The flight is spectacular with impressive views of mount Fuji. The whole process is really clear and efficient. Despite us not speaking Japanese we managed to communicate. The price is great value - almost half the cost of flying in Europe, so don’t miss out! They respond very quickly by email. Thank you again for a memorable experience

Booked the tandem paragliding course but because of the weather, we had to switch to the short flight course. But we still had a lot of fun!! The staff were accommodating and patient with us. Thank you so much for the experience. Also many thanks to our little learning group - so supportive! Highly recommended! ありがとうございました!

We did the tandem ride as tourists trying paragliding for the first time. We went in late September and the weather was perfect for us. The tandem ride was a lot of fun, from getting to the launch site (a car ride to a little lift with chairs) then swooping around the trees, then doing spirals, and finally landing. It was well worth it for us. I would highly recommend!

It was our first flight for my boyfriend and I and everything was perfect! They came pick us up at the hotel and brought us directly to the site. The view on Mount Fuji was insane and the team really professional and funny at the same time ! If you want to have an amazing Japanese experience, don’t hesitate and book your paragliding there !! Thanks again, memories will stay for a long time :)

My girlfriend and I both did a tandem flight with them and we were amazed. Our two instructors were super kind and we immediately felt very safe. The views during the flight were mesmerizing, although we weren’t able to see the Fuji while being in the air. It was the first paragliding experience for both of us and we had a great time. Thank you very much for having us!

We had an amazing paragliding experiences thanks to Asagiri Plateau paragliding school. Super friendly and helpful staff was a big plus. While the school offers pickup, it was bit difficult to find transportation back to Fujikawaguchiko as there were limited bus services due to the corona situation. Would recommend going by car for those who are able to drive in Japan.

Parking lot
Fujinomiya Trail 5th Sta. Parking Lot is a stunning spot located above Mizugatsuka Park, accessible by car, motorcycle, road bike, or even jogging at an altitude of over 2,000 meters. Visitors can witness breathtaking views of the sea of clouds in the early morning and enjoy late-night stargazing. The area offers a chance to capture the Milky Way in the southern sky and experience the beauty of the starry night above severe horizon light pollution.
I summited Mt. Fuji via the Fujinomiya trail on 27th October, 2024. Started the hike at 3:30am and summited at about 7:30. The trail is quite steep with a lot of rocks to climb over. Weather was decent, although it was kind of windy (which made it feel colder than it was) and the first 200m vertical were inside of clouds. The gate can be walked around, toilets and other facilities did not work.

Veeraraghavan V — Google review
This is the starting point for the Fujinomiya Trail, which is the shortest and steepest route to the summit of Mount Fuji. It begins at a higher elevation compared to other trails, around 2,400 metres, making it the fastest way up in terms of distance and time, though the ascent is more direct and physically demanding. Ideal if you're aiming for a quicker climb, but be prepared for a steeper hike with less gradual acclimatisation. I did my hike on 25 June, started at 6:15am and returned by 1:50pm.
Melvin J — Google review
Great free parking at the top of a beautiful road. There are no shops, water etc up here for most of the year. There is a toilet block, 10 minutes walk along the trail, but it’s water-less. The nearest water/bathroom is in a car park about 15-20 minutes drive down the mountain. The trek up to Mt Hoei is difficult (because it’s like walking on a sand dune) beyond the volcano, and takes 90 minutes.

Buses are available for Mishima and fuji station at very reasonable cost. Toilate are very dirty and smelly . Recommend you get food from station since here very expensive.

(Translated by Google) We used the Fujinomiya Trail Fifth Station Parking Lot as a meeting point for our climb of Mount Fuji. Please note that due to vehicle restrictions, you cannot drive your own car there and will need to take a shuttle bus or taxi. There are shops and snack bars near the parking lot as well as a climbing equipment rental service, making it very convenient for us to get all the supplies and preparations we need before our climb. When I told the staff member that I was about to start climbing, they greeted me with a bright smile and said, "Good luck!" which gave me a boost of energy even before we set off. There are also restrooms, which is reassuring, and it's great to be able to take a break here before starting your climb. I think this is an essential base for anyone using the Fujinomiya Trail. The ski resort was quite interesting; we spent our time there from noon until the afternoon, and the sunlight during this period was perfect for taking photos. The weather was also very favorable, and the support services were quick. I encountered a minor issue with the locker as the machine only accepted 100-yen coins.

Coming to Tokyo in January and wishing to experience snow but on a limited time. I recommend coming here. Not sure though how you can come here via bus since we went via a guided tour van. Place is amazing, not too crowded, skiing is a recommended activity but you can make the most of the place by just playig around. It’s just a 20-30 minutes drive all the way to the top when you came from the Panoramic Ropeway.

The diverse range of activities made for an unforgettable and truly amazing experience.

Really had a great time here. I skied and snowboarded and it was a blast. I rented the snowboard and it cost ¥5000 for the board and the boots. It was also the same price for the skies and boots. Road Station Asagiri Kogen is a popular grassy plateau known for its stunning views of Mt. Fuji and as a take-off point for hang-gliders. The area hosts the Fujinomiya Matsuri, the biggest festival in Fujinomiya city, featuring lively street performances and traditional taiko battles. Visitors can enjoy unobstructed views of Mt. Fuji from the vast plains, especially during autumn when golden pampas grass blankets the fields.
We stay one day overnight. We arrive around 4 pm...it's a beautiful place to go around, walk and enjoy the day with a great view of mount Fuji. This sideroad has so many different options to enjoy the day there, good food, picnic areas, brewery, visitor information. If you can stay overnight choose the back parking lot and with a side view of Mt Fuji....if you woke up early in summer (4:30 am) maybe you will get an unforgettable view of Fuji.... Like many road stations (michinoeki) in japan, this one is really a nice place to drop by if you're passing through. Even if you don't drive you can come here by a bus that runs between Mt. Fuji station (in yamanashi) and Shin-Fuji station (in Shizuoka). I came here by bus from Fujinomiya station and explored the area. It has a huge parking lot, toilets, showers, vending machines, souvenir shops, ice-cream, Fuji viewing observation deck and a lot more. There is a trail from here that goes to a spot called 'Fureai no Mori entrance'. It is a 50 min circular walking trail into the forested area in this neighbourhood (goes all the way up to the border of Yamanashi prefecture). After exploring the area, I walked 3-4 km south to the bus stop called 'Asagiri kogen' which has a nice Family Mart so you can rest there while waiting for your bus back to civilization. You can take great shots of Fuji and farmlands all along the way.

Stopped by on a road trip around Fuji-san to take some pictures. Didn't realise it but it was culture day in Japan so there was a small festival set up outside. Lots of traditional foods and snacks and street foods. Felt like it was the middle of no where but it was very lively. Inside was lots of traditional snacks and seasonal foods as well. Had some fresh raw milk from cows that graze on the mountain side. Was very rich and creamy with a strong beef flavour. Not sure what it would be like on a regular day, but it was also exceptionally clear so we got some good photos of Fuji-san that day.

Truly one of the most peaceful places on Earth. Big enough to enjoy many aspects of nature and Shinto culture in different ways. The ducks and koi are friendly and well fed, but make sure you only feed them natural bird food (seeds, corn, dry brown rice, etc) since processed foods (including bread) can hurt them.

Fuji Milk Land is a charming destination with various activities and offerings. Visitors can enjoy delicious milk coffee, fresh fruits, and vegetables from the local region. The accommodation provides unobstructed views of Mount Fuji and offers a perfect setting for a magical evening, complete with a BBQ set. Additionally, the place is known for its ice cream, particularly the cream cheese flavor. It's also an ideal spot for families as it features animal petting areas that kids would love.
I unfortunately went on during a holiday, so half was closed, but the service was great! I bought some milk (best milk ever!) and ate at the restaurant as well, great meal for the price! And technically with a view of Mt. Fuji (it was cloudy so you couldn't see it but it's right there!)
Samantha B — Google review
I don’t think it’s worth a visit unless you have kids. I did see that it was more for kids but thought maybe I would be able to see a cow or something and have some ice cream. There is a restaurant there but it was very busy. There was a goat petting area but it’s like 700¥ for 15 minute plus then you pay for food. I didn’t want to pet a goat that badly lol. Lots of kids activities and playgrounds so it’s definitely worth it there. Idk where they keep the cows here cause we couldn’t see them, so we ended up leaving to IDEBOK cow farm for ice cream and a more adult vibe.

Creamy and not too sweet soft serve, they do sell local snacks/fruits/vegetables at reasonable prices. Highly recommend for who needs a quick stop during your trip. It was a cloudy day or we could have seen the Mt. Fuji.

We came as two adults without kids so skipped all the animal petting part of the place. However do go and try the milk coffee (pictured) as it's really nice. It's got a nice natural sweetness to it but a sophisticated after taste. I ended up drinking two! There are also fresh fruit and vegetables available from the local region. Looked really good alas as I'm a foreigner I have no where to cook them. Toilets are nice and clean too.

We had an absolutely wonderful time at Fuji milk land. The accomodation was perfect for our needs. From our balcony we had a perfect unobstructed view of mount Fuji. Wow what a sight! For dinner we enjoyed the BBQ set which the staff so kindly set up outside our cabin. The setting made for a truly magical evening. The food was great (set included beef, pork, vegetables and noodles as well as sauces ect.) We washed it down with some craft beers brewed by the farm which were quite a nice change from the usual Sapporo, Asahi selection. Since we arrived quite late in the afternoon on our first day we spent the afternoon visiting the animals and enjoying some ice cream! Awesome experience for the whole family. Would highly recommend if you are looking for a fun stay at a reasonable price!

One highlight is the special exhibition dedicated to Kenji Miyazawa, a beloved children's author with a passion for stones.
This was a gem of a find! Really cool demonstrator with the guide explaining three rocks in both Japanese and English. Very extensive display with lots of exhibits that you can actually touch (this is not possible in Australia). The museum shop had some cool rocks. The staff were very friendly. There was an English guidebook available but I was lazy and just liked looking at rocks without understanding so I did not get this so can't comment. Loved it, definitely worth a visit!

Very cute little museum, there are some very interesting exhibits. Everything is laid out in a very fun manner which would be especially good for kids, but it's just as enjoyable for adults. Exhibits don't have English, but Google translate worked well. They have a little interactive demonstration in the entry hall (with English cards) which was very interesting. There's a small outbuilding where you can dig for little chips of gems and other semi precious stones which is just a generally fun experience, most of the people there when we went were actually adults having a good time.

Fuji Rokusho Sengen Shrine, located in the town of Fuji-Yoshida, offers a challenging 19km hike from base to summit on the historic Old Yoshidaguchi Trail. The shrine is also known for its Shichi-Go-San ceremonies and visitors can request prayers without reservation. Upon arrival, one can explore the precincts and enjoy the serene atmosphere with carp swimming in the pond.
Delightful shrine with beautiful grounds. There are many fun statues dotted around, including Doraemon. The koi carp pond is stunning! They hold festivals on the following dates: Feb 3rd - Setsubun. May 3rd - The shrines annual festival. June 30th - Purification ritual. Mid August - Summer festival. First Sat of Oct - Autumn festival (maybe on a Sunday if it rains). Nov 23rd - Niiname-sai festival (harvest) Dec 31st - Purification ritual. Background: It is said to have been founded during the reign of the 5th Emperor Kōshō, and when the 10th Emperor Sujin sent his generals to the four provinces, this shrine was highly revered and presented with an imperial offering. When the 41st Emperor Heizei enshrined the Five Sengen Shrines in the first year of the Daidō era (806), this shrine was designated as the head shrine, and after the second year of the Kōnin era (811), when the Empress Saga of Japan prayed for the safe delivery of her child, this shrine became an imperial shrine where prayers for the peace of the nation were offered whenever an incident occurred.

I followed the directions of my car navigation system and found it easily, and the parking lot was easy to find, and there was a free parking lot right in front of the shrine. Then, I went to worship, and immediately after passing through the large torii gate, there was a "chozuya" (water basin) on the left, where there were flowers and wind chimes. At this point, I somehow felt that this was not a shrine you can find in your neighborhood. There are stone statues of Doraemon and Pikachu scattered around the grounds, and many beautiful wind chimes are hanging around the main hall, playing a cool sound. It is worth seeing, and it was a very nice and unique shrine. Other than that, it is a normal shrine where you can normally get amulets, ofudas, goshuin, etc. at the gift shop, so please visit it. The shrine maiden at the gift shop used very polite language and it was pleasant. 2025.07

Even though it was a cloudy and rainy day, the experience was powerful and unforgettable. A full arc of roaring, stunning waterfalls — truly a sight to behold. Entrance is free, and parking costs between 200–500 yen depending on how close you park to the entrance. The walk around the waterfalls takes less than an hour. Highly recommended!

Very nice place with amazing views. From here you can also go up to the Shiraito Natural Park with lovely views and if you are lucky and have clear skies, you can take amazing pictures with mount Fuji in the background. Recommend going early in the morning if you also want a good view of Fuji.

Great location to just relax and enjoy nature. Two falls for one drive. Crisp clear water and clean location. Not alot of visitors with makes it nice to just lounge around for a bit. Swimming is prohibited as a heads up. Wish I knew before I went so just putting it out there. Parking was also a breeze. 500 yen directly at the spot or 200 yen down the road. Either way its well worth it.

Nestled in the scenic Fuji area, Fuji Kachoen Garden Park is a delightful destination for nature lovers and families alike. This enchanting greenhouse showcases an impressive array of vibrant flowers that create a stunning visual feast, with blooms cascading from the ceiling and adorning the walls. Visitors can immerse themselves in the park's lively atmosphere, where they can interact with various birds, including playful parrots that may even greet you with cheerful phrases as you stroll by.
A great place to spend 2 hrs. Great for the kids because they were able to get up close and feed exotic birds like owls parrots and flamingoes.

Everything about this place is was so beautiful. There were tons of different birds to see, and lots of different ways to interact with them and get close to them. A few of the parrots like to say こんにちは! as you walk by. You can feed them and sometimes pay to touch them or let them sit on your shoulders. I especially liked the greenhouse and all of the beautiful blooming flowers hanging from the ceiling and stacked up the walls. Also the employees were all really nice and helpful. 10/5. I can't wait to come back with my friends sometime. :)

Not an expert on birds. But felt many displayed stress like walking in circles, bar biting, rocking. Maybe some birds were rescued and unable to survive in the wild but 100% this place would not be permitted in the UK. My photos show how owls and birds of prey kept in the UK. I'm a guest in Japan and not preaching just saying not for me.

We've visited this botanical garden luckily while returning from Fuji area. When i entered to the botanical garden, i was shocked with the most beautiful flower sight i have ever seen. You become exciting with many kind of flowers with nearly every type of color! You must visit this place if you go to Fuji area. Also, there are some kinds of owl and birds inside the garden.

Not necessarily being a huge fan of botanical garden or zoo, my expectation wasn't that high, but it turned out that I ended up liking this place very much. I had never seen so many different types of owls at once. The buildings are dated, but they work pretty well with a diverse set of birds / flowers to create its own unique environment.

Lovely old shrine. The surrounding area is also beautiful with all the bonsai gardens and little shrines. I recommend taking the time to walk the entire area. Very few tourists here as it's not well known but it's as beautiful as any other shrine I've seen in Japan. Forest is full of birds, especially ravens. It is the second station of the Yoshidaguchi trail to Mt. Fuji. It was my first visit in about seven years. Unfortunately, it seems to have fallen into disrepair. It is a well-known fact that the summit of Mt. Fuji is the grounds of Sengen Shrine and does not belong to either Yamanashi or Shizuoka Prefecture. Why is this place in Fujikawaguchiko Town all by itself? I look forward to hearing from those who know😊. Look it up yourself! I ended up asking at Obunjiya in Umagaeshi without doing my own research😑. Apparently Omuro Sengen Shrine (Komuro on the Geospatial Information Authority of Japan map) is enshrined in Kawaguchiko Town, and it is its inner shrine, so it is an enclave. What about the summit of Mt. Fuji? According to a regular customer who knows the area well, the area around the crater is Shizuoka Prefecture, but if you step outside the prefecture side you're in Yamanashi Prefecture. This is apparently the case for tax purposes and for the World Heritage registration reasons 🤯. I heard that the hiking trails around Umagaeshi have been rerouted many times, leaving many traces of old paths. The Geospatial Information Authority of Japan's "Komuro Sengen Shrine" seems to be a mistake, as it should be "Omuro Sengen Shrine" 🤔❓️. Is that even possible 🧐? The Asama Shrine near Lake Kawaguchi is said to have its origins here✨ Now, it's just a decaying shrine and the principal image dedicated to Princess Konohana Sakuya standing behind a net, but it's actually an Okumiya shrine with quite a history as it was the first shrine built inside Mt. With the construction of the Fuji Subaru Line, which made it easy to drive up to the 5th station, there were fewer people walking to worship from the 1st station, and the shrine has fallen into disrepair, but until the Edo period, women were not allowed to go beyond this point. Kengamine, the pinnacle of Japan at 3,776 meters, offers an exhilarating experience for those who venture to its summit. As you ascend from Station 10, it takes just about 20 minutes to reach this breathtaking peak. The journey is rewarding; the crisp air and serene atmosphere provide a perfect escape from urban life.
If you’re going to climb Fuji, you should go to the highest peak! The views from tour of the crater are wonderful. Just around from the highest peak, shortly after sunrise, you can also see the tallest shadow in Japan. Absolutely spectacular!

Must go while you are in Japan . - make sure you are fit as it’s difficult hike ! - don’t underestimate the weather ( pack enough warm cloth , can be windy as well ) - carry enough water - you can buy water on the way which may cost you 10 times more then base ! - walking back in harder ( good hiking shoes needed) - worth to be at the top at the sunrise time ( has to be lucky with the weather )
Rajendra L — Google review
This weather station is a BEAST! I forgot to take any pictures up close that weren’t selfies. The highest point on Mt. Fuji, the last little climb up to the station is a bear. If you’re coming from the south, it’s a slick climb up a pretty significant gravel path to get up to the station. This was the first point in my climb that I used my poles, and the first time I though I might actually fall. Attacking from the other direction is easier, but then you still have to trek down the slippery slope if you want to make a full loop. Worth waking around when the sun is out for the extra views of the crater. Definitely nice during COVID times when you can go without crowds.

The topmost point in Japan! Feels awesome to be here. Just look around and you’ll see everything else is below you (other than the weather station built there, of course). Enjoy the moment in time when you are among the handful people standing at the highest peak in Japan. It’s crowded by the way. If you want to take a photo at the pillar which reads “highest point in Japan 3776m” then you need to stand in a long line. I suggest to avoid it cause the line in long and you can still enjoy the moment and take other photos standing at the peak.

The highest point in Japan and spectacular views of the huge caldera of Mt. Fuji. Surprisingly, not everyone who reaches the top comes here. It is a hard climb of 20 minutes or so after the long trail up to the top of Fuji cone. It may not be easy to convince your legs after the long ascent but your trek is incomplete without this point. Also, the best views of the caldera!

Wakajishi tank school was probably opened in 1939, but sources are a bit unclear on that, it was almost destroyed from American bombings that started in 1944. Now you can find a memorial shrine here dedicated to the students and soldiers that died during the war. You can also find a Type 97 Chi-Ha here. The Chi-Ha was knocked out during the battle of Saipan. It has multiple hits on the right side, and was probably used for target practice. The tank was salvaged out of a canal together with another Chi-Ha, this one was send to Wakajishi and the other Chi-Ha was send to Yasukuni Shrine War Museum.

Nestled atop the majestic Mt. Fuji, Kusushi Shrine is a sacred site dedicated to the Buddhist goddess Fuji, offering visitors an unforgettable experience. The journey to this enchanting shrine is no small feat; it involves a challenging hike that can take around 6.5 hours to ascend and about 4.5 hours for the descent, with steep inclines that test your endurance. However, every ounce of effort pays off when you reach the summit and are greeted by breathtaking panoramic views.
The climb is worth the view. Did it off season, and the wind was dangerous at the top. Expect that, the climb is safe and not that hard, if you are fit and prepared. Boots, raingear, food, water, warm clothes and preferably a walking stick or two.

Advanced tickets are recommended. We did not stay in a hut... we departed on the 6:40am bus from Kawaguchiko Station and returned on the 6:40pm bus. We managed to do it all in 1 day, and yes, we made the summit. The folks that stopped at the huts ended up waking up to bad weather and no view of sunrise. Sometimes, the sun needs a few hours in the sky to burn off the mist a bit and clear the view. The shrine is simple but moving. I cried when I reached it.
Sarah — Google review
After climbing for hours through the pitch-black night, guided only by the faint circle of our headlamps and the slow rhythm of our steps, we finally reached the summit of Mt. Fuji just before dawn. The air was razor-thin and freezing cold—every breath turned into a small puff of white mist—but the energy around us was alive. Hikers from every corner of the world were gathering at the crater rim, all bundled up, all waiting for the same magical moment: the first light of sunrise, known here in Japan as goraikō. At around 4:15 am, the horizon began its transformation. What was once a dark canvas of indigo slowly bled into soft streaks of orange, pink, and shimmering gold. Then, as the sun inched above the endless sea of clouds, a collective wave of awe rippled through the crowd. Some clapped, some cheered, others stood in hushed silence, but we all shared the same wide-eyed wonder. For a brief moment, standing at 3,776 meters, on the very roof of Japan, I felt both impossibly small and profoundly connected—to the mountain, to nature, and to every single person around me. Just a short walk from where we stood was the Kusushi Shrine. It looked modest compared to the grandeur of the sunrise, yet its presence was powerful. Dedicated to Konohanasakuya-hime, the goddess of Mt. Fuji, the shrine has greeted generations of pilgrims who once climbed this sacred peak entirely on foot, starting from the mountain’s base. For them, this shrine was the end of a spiritual journey; for me, reaching it after hours of physical and mental endurance felt like completing a pilgrimage of my own. I paused at the small torii gate, bowed my head, and whispered a silent prayer of thanks—for the strength to climb, for the safety of our group, and for the chance to witness something so extraordinary. Around me, others were doing the same. Some purchased little protective charms, others lined up to get a commemorative summit stamp burned into their hiking sticks, each ritual carrying its own meaning. The shrine added a sense of reverence to the climb, reminding me that Mt. Fuji is not only about the challenge—it is also about humility and respect for a place that has been sacred for centuries. As the sunlight grew stronger, spreading across the sky and washing the crater in warm light, the rugged volcanic ridges cast dramatic shadows that seemed to stretch forever. I felt a rush of relief, gratitude, and pride all at once. The climb had tested every bit of stamina and patience, but the reward was so much more than the view. It was the rare feeling of standing at the meeting point of earth, sky, and spirit. With the sun finally breaking through the icy wind and warming our faces, I understood why people call this a once-in-a-lifetime experience. It wasn’t just about standing on Japan’s highest peak—it was about feeling the mountain’s spirit, about being part of a tradition that stretches back centuries. For me, Kusushi Shrine and the rising sun came together in perfect harmony, giving the summit a sense of completion. This wasn’t simply a climb to the top; it was a memory I knew I would carry with me for the rest of my life.

Worth the hike! They do day and night trails so you can check out at all times on their website. I recommend day so you can have the amazing views once you've made it. It is pretty grueling to make it to the summit but it all pays off once you're on top. The way up isn't that bad, but the walk down is the worst part so keep that in mind. It's at a 45 degree angle so it's rough on the feet. It took me about 6 1/2 hours to get up and about 4 1/2 going down. My experience level is at a beginners so if you're more well versed in this, you can finish way quicker. There are 4 different trails to take and you can go based on your experience levels. I personally found the Yoshida trail to be the easiest of the four. It wasn't as packed with folks and it was easy to navigate. There are steep areas so be aware of that. For the optimal day hike, start at the 5th Station. Each station has rest stops for food and drinks. Keep in mind the prices go higher since it takes that much more to bring those items up. To use the bathroom it's ¥200. You can purchase a walking stick at the 5th Station for help up on the trails. You can also get a wood burning done on your walking stick to signify each station you've accomplished. The hike down be sure to use the rest stops because you won't be able to go until about half way down (very limited). Be sure to bring all the essentials (backpack, rain gear, light jackets, gloves, hat, beanie, wick t-shirts and pants, change of clothes, sunscreen, sun glasses, lip balm, anti-chaffing cream, boots) and I also recommend not to use cotton material. From my experience, cotton gets soaked fast from sweat or rain and doesn't dry as fast and with the altitude changes and cooler weather you can potentially suffer from hypothermia. Altitude sickness is also something that may occur but be sure to take breaks as needed or you can buy oxygen cans from the 5th Station for about ¥1500. All in all, it's a great experience! Just be sure to be well prepared and enjoy the trails!

Hoeizan is a flank volcano located on the southeastern side of Mt. Fuji, offering intermediate climbing routes. It remains open for climbing until early November, even after Mt. Fuji closes for the season. While it's often seen as a casual hiking course, climbers should ensure they have proper equipment and plan their trip carefully due to the unique gravel road that demands significant physical strength.
Climbed one day before the season for climbers stopped. The hike was great from the bus stop to the top. The volcanic ground type adds difficulty so you must have the proper equipment and be prepared. The hike is wonderful even when the clouds are everywhere.

Mount Hōei (Hoeizan) is a flank volcano located on the southeastern slope of Mount Fuji. It was formed during the great Hōei eruption of 1707–1708 — the most recent eruption of Mount Fuji — and reaches an elevation of about 2,693 meters above sea level. Its name comes from the Hōei era during which the eruption occurred. The Hoeizan trail offers a striking view of Fuji’s cratered flank and wide, sweeping vistas of the Pacific Ocean. The path consists mainly of loose volcanic gravel, which can be challenging but is manageable with good shoes. Trekking poles are highly recommended, as they help maintain balance on the soft, unstable ground — especially during descent. The hike typically starts from the Fujinomiya 5th Station. The ascent to the crater rim usually takes around 1.5 hours, with another hour for the descent, though times vary depending on pace and weather. It’s often windy at the top — at times so strong that it’s impossible to keep walking — so warm, windproof clothing is essential. Even outside the official Mount Fuji climbing season, the Hoeizan trail often remains accessible, and the scenery — especially on clear days — is breathtaking. I climbed Hoeizan yesterday, taking the route up through the 6th camp and descending via the Hoei Second Crater Rim. The descent trail led through a beautiful coniferous forest, and the entire hike — including photo stops, rest breaks, and a snack just below the summit — took us about three hours. It was an unforgettable experience.

It's a different world out there. It's like being on the moon. For those you can't/or are afraid of climbing Fuji San but want to experience it, this is the place to go. Easily accessible off season by car. Plenty of parking at the Fujinomiya 5th station. You can either do the easy loop by staying at the lower rim of the crater or go to the top of the crater ( more challenging because of the gravely terrain).
Guillaume7372 — Google review
The path between the car park and the volcano is easy to medium, mainly because it has a few steep-ish bits. The trek up to Mt Hoei from the volcano is difficult (because it’s like walking on a sand dune). In total, 90 minutes from the car park to the top for a normal adult who’s not in a rush. Maybe 60 minutes down. It’s not particularly cold until you get to the windy ridge in the final 2-3 minutes. In October a simple sweater is fine, with maybe a thin waterproof for the top bit to keep the wind out so that you can stay up there looking for longer. I saw a few people in shorts and tshirt, but I think that may be a bit too little for most.

Perhaps because I visited in the evening, there were no other worshippers, further enhancing the shabby impression. The Nichiren sect seems to have more conflicts and sects than other sects. In 1872 (Meiji 5), it became Nichiren under the policy of "one sect, one chief priest." However, just two years later, in 1874 (Meiji 7), it split into the Nichiren sect Unity Faction and the Nichiren sect Superiority Faction, and disbanded. Nichiren Shoshu and Hokke sects, among others, became independent, and while some temples, like Taisekiji, once flourished, they all appear to be in dire straits. That being said, it is the head temple of a sect, and the main hall and bell tower are impressive. Behind the main hall is the grave of Nobunaga's head. [Denomination] Nikko Sect, Komon School [Principal Image] Ten Worlds Mandala [History] Nikko's disciple, Hiyo, inherited Jusu Honmonji Temple after his master's death. He later came into conflict with Jusu's local lord, Ishikawa Sanetada, and his followers, and left Jusu Honmonji Temple with his children. In 1344 (Kōei 3), he received a donation of temple land from Nishiyama's local lord, Ouchi Yasukiyo, and built Nishiyama Honmonji Temple. With a vast grounds spanning 360 chobu (approx. 1,000 square meters), Nishiyama Honmonji Temple, one of the most historic temples in the former Shibakawa Town, is said to have the grave of Oda Nobunaga behind its main hall. Nishiyama Honmonji is an independent temple belonging to the Fuji sect, which inherited the lineage of Nikko Shonin, one of the Six Elders and a senior disciple of Nichiren Shonin. It was counted as one of the five major head temples of the sect, known as the Fuji Five Mountains: Kitayama Honmonji, Nishiyama Honmonji, Taisekiji, Koizumi Kuonji, and Shimojo Myorenji. Nishiusuzuka is a popular area for hiking with various courses available, such as from Taroubou to the East and Fujinomiya-guchi Gogoume. As you ascend the skyline from Fujinomiya City, there's a parking lot on the left with free parking and cherry blossoms in bloom. The outer ring of the parasitic crater offers stunning views of Mt. Fuji, although gas may obstruct visibility at times.
(Translated by Google) After entering the hiking course from the parking lot and walking for about 15 to 20 minutes, you will arrive at the top of Nishiusuzuka. The well-maintained sidewalk is a cool path full of greenery and moss. You won't need a hat as you will be walking through a broad-leaved forest. It's not enough for people with strong legs, but it's a good course for those who want to walk a little. There is a fairly large parking lot and toilets. The promenade was well laid out, and it was easy to walk around, making it a very pleasant stroll through the forest. There are few ups and downs and the distance is not very long, so even people who are not confident in their physical strength can easily walk along the route. There are benches and open spaces along the way. Currently, a restriction line has been set up due to a large fallen oak tree right at the entrance, and if you climb up to Nishiusuzuka, a restriction line has been set up and traffic is closed from there, so you have to go further via Nishiusuzuka. Please note that you cannot climb up to the top and go to the Takabachi parking lot. Massive park with enough to do to keep kids happy all day! Excellent hiking for adults, hidden park at the very top of the stairs as well for privacy (and exercise). Also probably one of the best views of Mt. Fuji in all of Japan. Bring a trash bag though if you are planning a picnic here, as they are desperately lacking public trash cans (like most of Japan).

The standard course time is 2 hours and 15 minutes to climb from Lake Tanuki to the summit, and 2 hours and 50 minutes to climb from Mt. Chojagatake to Shiraito Falls. From the summit of Mt. Chojagatake, you can enjoy a good view of Lake Tanuki and Mt. Fuji. Among the many mountains with a view of Mt. Fuji, Mt. Chojagatake is the summit where you can see the large Mt. Fuji quite close. There are tables and benches at the top of the mountain. There is also a trailhead on the west bank of Lake Tanuki near Kyukamura Fuji, and the trail climbs on a narrower contour line than the Tokai Nature Trail route, so it's a steep climb. The mountain trail is well maintained and joins the Tokai Nature Trail halfway up the mountain. The shores of Lake Tanuki and the surrounding mountainsides are cypress plantations, so people with cypress pollen allergy may find it difficult to visit during the cypress pollen season. Beyond the plantation area, the trail turns into a deciduous broad-leaved forest, and in the spring, katakuri blooms on the forest floor of the thicket off the mountain trail, and the Japanese cypress blooms just below the summit. The Omuro family's gate has a double-swinging wooden door in the center of the front, with a side door on the left. The two rooms on either side have traditionally been called the "eight-mat room" on the right and the "miso room" on the left. Currently, both rooms have dirt floors, but investigations revealed that the "eight-mat room" once had tatami mats and traces of a ceiling remain. This room is believed to have been where the gatekeeper lived. Although the gate was partially renovated in 1929, the gate's boards, pillars, girders, and beams are ancient, suggesting that the house was built in the mid- to late-Edo period, including 1755. About the Omuro Family The Omuro family traces its roots back to Fujiwara Mitsusuke, the Minister of Civil Affairs of Omuro, who served Prince Muneyoshi, son of Emperor Godaigo. The family has continued for over 640 years. Records show that the family participated in the Winter and Summer Sieges of Osaka from 1614 to 1615. During the Edo period, the family served as headmen of Sakuma Village for generations. The Nagayamon gate is beautiful, but the stone walls built on the vast grounds make this a truly magnificent house. 😀 The grounds are extensively maintained, including a gazebo with benches. Four slides, including a tunnel slide and a wide slider, are installed. Even younger children can enjoy them safely. There's also a covered sandbox for play on rainy days. When we first visited, the elementary school kids were overwhelmed by the size of the playground equipment and were super excited. However, they seemed to finish playing within about an hour and started playing with balls on the grass. There are covered tables around the large playground equipment, but there aren't many, so it's a good idea for parents to bring an umbrella in the summer. A very nice and well maintained recreational area overall. Lots of great views of Mt. Fuji! Plenty of free parking is also available for guests of the park and sports facilities. Unfortunately, in spite of the nice vistas and facilities, the only very disturbing problem that many people noticed and remarked negatively about was the nauseating stink coming from the men’s restrooms located on the outdoor field area. Furthermore, the dust that got kicked up on the field area also needed to be regularly watered down to avoid dust clouds from forming.

It has a complex playground including the Santa Monica Path, which is modeled after sister city Santa Monica, a grassy area, and slides, and the weather was good, so it was bustling with families with small children. The former Sotogami Castle, which also served as an observation deck, has been demolished, and construction is currently underway on the site to install the largest complex playground equipment in the prefecture, which is scheduled to be completed in August of this year! It seems that the parking lot will also be expanded, which I think families with children will be looking forward to. The parking lot is small, and it seems that it is used by baseball officials on baseball game days. When I returned to the park in two weeks, some of the new giant playground equipment was on display at the construction site, but I couldn't enter the construction site! Located in a serene and tranquil setting, the Shrine offers a peaceful atmosphere for visitors. The shrine building is unique as it incorporates living trees into its structure. However, visitors with hay fever should be cautious of the cypress trees surrounding the area. Additionally, the shrine boasts a magnificent cherry blossom tree that adds to its dignified ambiance. At the time of its founding, the temple boasted tens of thousands of followers and flourished, with inns, bathhouses, and tofu shops lining the streets. The temple grounds are home to cherry blossom trees planted by Saigo Tsugumichi, a key figure in the Meiji Restoration government, Takashima Kaemon, Jirocho of Shimizu, and founder Tokuda Hirotoyo. Many of the cherry trees, some over 100 years old, are unique in the prefecture. (They bloom in early May.) Amaterasukyo's headquarters is home to Japan's largest and oldest mermaid mummy. While mermaids typically conjure images of women, this mermaid is a humanoid transformation—a 56-year-old man approximately 170 cm tall. Its origins date back 1,300 years. Regardless of whether this is true or not, it is a rare sight that has been featured in many books and other publications. When I visited, there were no other worshippers there, and only the silence and the rustling of the trees was audible. The main deity enshrined here is Amaterasu Omikami, and the teachings of Shinto, Confucianism, Buddhism, and Christianity are apparently mixed together. The summit is a passing point on the ridge, and there is only a summit sign, but no view. If you go down a little to the southeast from the summit, you will find ``Fujimidai'', where you can see Mt.
