Beavermead Park is a family-friendly campground located in the heart of Peterborough, offering a great opportunity for families to explore the beautiful surroundings. The staff are friendly and accommodating, with clean facilities and overnight security ensuring a safe environment. The park provides easy access to the Otonabee River, where visitors can enjoy camping, swimming at the beach, and various outdoor activities.
Great little beach to stop in for a swim or to spend the day. There’s a large grassed area you can set up with plenty of shade or the beach itself. A easy walk in to the water with a gentle slope. There are lifeguards on duty and a roped area to contain kids from going in too deep. There are kayaks for rent and a good public washroom/change room nearby. Lots of free public parking. A few volleyball courts and soccer fields on opposite ends of the park. Just a really delightful spot to enjoy.

Beavermead Park in Peterborough, Ontario is a great place to spend time with family and friends for a day trip from Toronto. You could also visit the Canoe Museum, the world largest lift lock, beaches , lift lock cruise. You could also enjoy different types of food from the Lansdowne place food court. Happy Summer 2024!
Jensen D — Google review
It is open and beautiful area, anyone can do swimming, walking and spent time with their love once, even play some games like football and volleyball. There is small play ground for younger children's.

Amazing little gem hidden in Peterborough. Nice camping area. Water all around for fishing, canoeing, kayaking, and even swimming. Nice beach and play area for the kids. Pet friendly. Very reasonable price. Definitely will visit again. Lots of trails and even a dog park close by.
James B — Google review
Nice camping site with super clean washrooms and with small beach site for nice family time. Must visit for happy campers. We did campfire at night. After 10 is quite time. So no music after 10pm. Close to Tim’s and Wendy’s which really helps during those hot days of summer some time. I always carry my cycles for nice cycle time in evenings and mornings. $55 for camping spot
Pushpinder S — Google review
One of the amazing gems of places in Peterborough. So blessed to start and end so many days here alone getting to work out and listen to music. From soccer fields, workout stations, volleyball courts, facilities and playgrounds..Definitely a place for the family to check out. Thanks to the amazing people who clean (To the awesome girl I meet every morning....thank you can never say enough!)

It is a lovely campground and look forward to going again this summer 2020. Great for cycling on trails or around the lake. The locks are interesting with boats from Canada and the USA. Lock boat tour available which is beautiful in the Fall. Swimming off the beach and a great play ground for children, supervised by their parents. Herons are regular visitors to the river surrounding the campsite. Have a good summer. Our photo did not show up!
Maureen F — Google review
My cousin and I camped at this Park for the first time Aug 11-13, 2023. We participated in the Lift Lock Event. This Park is very clean and well managed. Their new comfort station completed in 2020 is absolutely amazing! Well designed! Would definitely come back here again! Thank you Beavermead Park for your hospitality!

Riverview Park & Zoo, located in Peterborough, Ontario, Canada, is a beloved destination for families and nature enthusiasts. This year-round attraction offers free admission and showcases over 45 species of animals, including Emu, Wallaby, Two-Toed Sloth, and River Otter. The park features a diverse playground with a splash pad and a frisbee golf course. Visitors can also enjoy a mini-train ride through the scenic surroundings.
Great spot for families, but plan ahead for the train ride! Riverview Park & Zoo is a hidden gem for families! The best part? Free admission and parking, which makes it a super budget-friendly day out. The zoo is small but well-kept, featuring over 40 species including monkeys, otters, camels, and meerkats. Perfect for younger kids who won’t get tired walking too far. There’s also a huge playground, splash pad, picnic areas, and scenic riverside trails. The grounds are very clean and shady—great for hot days. Definitely pack a lunch though, as there’s no working concession stand on-site as of 2025. **A heads-up: on weekends, the line for the miniature train can be 1.5 to 2 hours long, even if you already have tickets. Tickets are only $2 per person but often sell out by 4 PM, even though the train is advertised to run until 6 PM. So if the train is a must-do, buy your tickets early and expect a bit of a wait.** Overall it’s a great place to spend a few hours with kids. Just plan ahead and come early—especially if you want that train ride!
Priyanka S — Google review
The park is amazing for a day out with family. The kids play area has different sections for different age groups. The splash pad is also very nice for the kids to enjoy. The zoo area is great with a lot of animals to see. I had never seen a sloth before. The parking and zoo are free here. They do accept donations though. All in all a great place to see a lot of things and relax in the park.
Parteek B — Google review
I really enjoyed my visit to the Peterborough Zoo. It’s such a nice place to spend a few hours, and the best part is that it’s free to enter. The zoo is not huge, but it has a really good variety of animals, and everything is well looked after. The enclosures are clean, and you can tell the staff care about the animals. My favorite part was watching the monkeys and the big cats – they were so fun to see up close. The walking paths are easy to follow, and there’s plenty of space to just relax and enjoy nature. It’s also a great place for kids, with the playground and picnic areas making it feel more like a family park than just a zoo. Parking was easy, and the whole place felt safe and welcoming. Overall, it’s a hidden gem in Peterborough and definitely worth visiting.
Syed Z — Google review
Riverview Park and Zoo is such a great spot, and the best part is that it’s completely free! The zoo itself is pretty good with a nice variety of animals, but what really stood out for us were the kids’ play areas. They’re awesome — lots of space to run around and different structures to explore. My 3-year-old especially loved the long slide, which quickly became the highlight of our visit. It’s a perfect family outing spot with a good mix of animals, green space, and fun for the kids. Definitely worth checking out!
Franck M — Google review
Extremely great experiences here, the zoo is very well maintained, clean and neat environment for guests and the animals. The animals all look happy and very active. So glad we have the chance to visit this free admission zoo. They have $2/person train, great experience with kids too. They love it. There are also a water splash pad and playground. Definitely worth going if you are around Peterborough. And donate if you can, the staff did a great work and they are nice to guests.
Tessia X — Google review
Disappointed their Snack Shack is gone.. but my sons had a blast otherwise. Highly recommend to make sure you pack your own snacks and drinks. The splash pad is a must on hot days! There was a bit of a line up for the Bathrooms/change rooms but nothing crazy terrible. Love this zoo.
Tori R — Google review
Wow, this place is small but so many animals to see. Plus, there is a train ride. That ride was closed today but we will make sure to go again, the following year. And the animals are so cute. There's otters, camals, sloths, llamas, ducks, snakes, just to name a few. There's a splash pad, play area for the kids, not too much walking. Plenty of pinic areas. The size is really good. Will go again.
Cedric — Google review
Zoo is nice to visit near Toronto. It's a place where kids can enjoy watching and knowing about animals and reptiles. Also can have small picnic or day you can spend with kids in zoo.

Nature & Parks
Del Crary Park in Peterborough is a beloved gem that hosts free concerts during the summer, bringing families and friends together. The park offers beautiful and romantic scenery, making it suitable for winter activities like sliding on the river. While it's important to be cautious due to some safety concerns, visiting in the morning is recommended. The Wednesday Concert series is a popular event, but visitors can also enjoy the Lighthouse restaurant and observe nature while having a picnic or practicing yoga with loved ones.
Gorgeous waterfront park that hosts the Peterborough Musicfest! There are two bathrooms available (one below the Lighthouse Restaurant and one beside the Peterborough Art Gallery). The Little Lake fountain is an attraction to view during the day however, watching the lights flicker through the fountain is even more stunning. There is a municipal parking lot available and the Liftlock Cruise Boat is available for a small fee.
Laura M — Google review
A Quiet Getaway, Del Crazy Park is a pleasant spot for a leisurely stroll or picnic, but it may not be the most exciting destination for those seeking thrilling activities. The park offers a peaceful atmosphere with green space. One of the highlights of the park is the lift lock cruise, but it may not be as thrilling as some visitors might expect. The cruise offers a unique perspective on the local waterways, but the pace is relatively slow.
Parviz G — Google review
Nice park. There will be concerts in the area. There is a liftlock cruise nearby where we can go with reservations. There is parking available nearby. There is a paid parking lot on weekdays and free on weekends.
Athira A — Google review
Great park to walk around and enjoy Little Lake. The towering fountain is also an enjoyable detail. Though it is unfortunate that they had to dismantle the concert stage.
Asmer21 — Google review
We participated in CIBC Run for the cure and it was a great event as always. We had our company team join to help raise donations and to give back to the community. It was great to see so many people participate after a few years of the void. Park was very clean and event staff/volunteers did a great job running the event.
Nick P — Google review
Amazing park for hiking lots of shades to stay and relax with your family in front of the lake. The left lock is amazing experience. The price is 30 for adults and 15.5 for kids. The is washrooms in the boat.

It was a great night for the Musicfest. The band was vreat. My family always have their special spot so they can fish. Their was a booth Desjardin taking free pic. You culd still see the fountsin change colours at night. The people are so kind everyone enjoying the concert. Their is picnic tables around . I will for sure go back nxt year.

Cute park. I attended an art show as a vendor here. Friendly residents and well-kept park. Couple of nice live bands, too. I come to peterborough from time to time but I don't think I had ever been to this park. Fairly good excuse in my books. I'm sure I'll be back

Over the years, this park has only gotten better! From the playground with a splash-pad, a picnic area with on-site restroom facilities, ample dog-friendly walking paths, and a field for sports like soccer and the like! Lovely tree-lined paths etc... See it for yourself!

Home of the Peterborough Pagans rugby club. Fantastic rugby field. Flat, no divots, grass is lovely. They also have a lovely clubhouse!
James R — Google review
Here for my sons rugby game. It’s a nice park and field. Lots of parking. One thing that can be improved is the in and out of the park as the roads are narrow and there is only one way in and out of the park
Hemanshu D — Google review
Peterborough's Folk Festival is absolutely the best once yearly event on the sweetest spot on a hill in Nicholls Oval Park. Peterborough and surrounding area folk come yearly to see top bands in an intimate setting with a river in the background of the stage and dancers dancing and kids running around infront of the stage. Worth the outing! EnJoY! & ChEeRs!

6Quaker Foods City Square

Park
Nestled in the heart of downtown Peterborough, Quaker Foods City Square is a vibrant hub for community engagement and seasonal activities. This lively space transforms throughout the year, hosting a bustling farmer's market that showcases local produce and artisan goods during the warmer months. As winter sets in, it becomes an enchanting outdoor skating rink where families gather to enjoy ice skating and casual hockey games. The atmosphere is filled with joy as people of all ages come together to create lasting memories on the ice.
While it is often just an empty space, during the spring, summer, and fall there are several days each week when this empty space is filled to bursting, with farmers markets carrying all manner of local grown foods, straight from farm to table. As well as the wares of local artisans. In more recent years, it is the winters that truly see this concrete park come to life. Every night the square is lit with a gorgeous selection of coloured lights and food trucks which attract and satisfy guests of all ages. The most adventurous visitors come for the recently unveiled 'skating pad" a smooth area of special concrete that somehow manages to function like a traditional ice rink but with far less maintenance required and no hazardous ice causing a slip and fall hazard for those who may pass through the park during the day.
James L — Google review
It’s a neat place to go BM. There is a woman who has set up a makeshift shelter for herself, she is very resilient. The benches are comfortable. I enjoy the aesthetics, something about dull and boring that speaks to me personally.
Jordan R — Google review
A wonderful place. I live next door and do enjoy seeing all ages enjoy the rink and it’s free!!
Sylvia C — Google review
Great place to go for a skate with the family. 5 stars for this beauty. A truly canadian experience in the heart of Peterborough.
Josh Y — Google review
Great skating. This is a fine upgrade to downtown Peterborough!
Doug M — Google review
Our windows overlook the rink, it is wonderful to watch people and families enjoy the facility so much! Sometimes, due to weather the rink has to be closed for part of the day, and possibly also re-opens later. Is there a website that would advise as to whether the oval is open for skaters?
Rainey F — Google review
Cute place to skate! Well maintained ice for an outdoor rink. There are no bathrooms, changerooms, or skating supports for kids on site so come prepared.
Alexandra O — Google review
Finally a good reason to bring the family downtown for some outdoor fun, besides Silver Bean in the summer. If downtown is going to thrive vs survive we need to create functional destinations beyond the restaurant scene.

The park next to the river offers a pleasant walk with limited parking options nearby. The gardens and pathways are well-maintained, located in downtown Peterborough. The area is well-lit at night due to numerous street lights. It forms part of an extensive bicycle path system and also provides educational displays and impressive artwork along the way. For those who forget their dog's poop bags, there is a No Frills store where you can quickly obtain some.
A beautiful small park alongside the Otonabee river, with a fantastic look over the water, city, and sky! Statues along the river bank added to its beauty. I had a nice walk in the afternoon and the morning before sunrise, which was a mesmerizing experience!
Hamideh N — Google review
Such a nice walk along the river. Parking is limited in the area so make sure you find a suitable spot before heading down. Very well maintained gardens and pathways right downtown Peterborough. There are lots of street lights so it must be well lit in the evenings. The park is part of a long bicycle path system. If you forget your doggy’s 🐾 poop bags, stop in at the No Frills for a quick pick up. 👍There are lots of educational postings along the way, as well as some really nice art work. The restaurant 👩‍🍳🍽️ at the bottom of King St has a lovely patio to enjoy in the warmer weather. All in all a beautiful spot to take a break 😃🌳🐿️

Peterborough Rib Fest 2024 is such a Great Experience. Just being at the Rib Fest lining up to order your ribs from the four gigantic BBQ booths with all the awards & honours & banners is so cool & awesome. Never seen anything like that in my life. It's Cowboy Season boyssssssss. Let's go! The Ribs & Chicken were Great, Perfect taste. I don't really like beans but beans with BBQ sauce as a side for the Ribs & Chicken is the Perfect Combination. Coleslaw great too. The Roasted Yams were also Perfect. Putting seasoning on it such as Paprika, Jerk, Tex Mex, and more makes it elevated to another level. Wow! The Cherry Lemonade was fast & refreshing.

2023 June 4★ One of the gateways to the park and the trans-Canada trail. This walkway is Peterborough's celebration of the Millennium. A tribute to a rich and diverse natural heritage; to the First Nations and to the early European settlers who carved a home in the wilderness; to industries, past and present, which helped forge a community; and to local artists who continue to create and inspire. Public washrooms available. A nice area, though can have some sketchy characters nearby.

Ashburnham Memorial Park offers a unique blend of tranquility and adventure, with panoramic views and captivating nature experiences. The park boasts a hillside overlooking the city, pathways leading to riverside serenity, and ample parking. It's a haven for relaxation and natural exploration, featuring benches, grassy areas, and clean facilities. Visitors can enjoy great views of the city from various vantage points within the park.
Spent the morning at Ashburnham Memorial Park, one of my favorite spots to relax. I brought my camera and got lucky—spotted a cute bunny grazing in the grass and snapped a few photos before it hopped away. I also saw a red fox run across the path. Didn’t get a shot, but I did see its trail through the tall grass in the woods. The views from up here are amazing, overlooking the city and surrounding landscapes. It’s perfect for a peaceful walk or just unwinding. There’s also a playground nearby if you’ve got kids, and washrooms close to the Peterborough Museum & Archives, so it’s a great place to spend a bit of time.
David P — Google review
Nice place to sit and relax. Great view of the city down below. Parking is ample on most days and there are benches at the far end of the lot. There is a retaining wall that you can sit on, kids will be climbing up and down guaranteed. There is a path downhill by the benches and grassy area. Awesome spot for sunsets too.
Booyaka ( — Google review
Great view of the city (from 100 feet above the hill on a bad day)
Primal B — Google review
Aside from a few trees in the way, this is 10/10 perfect spot to watch a thunderstorm. Usually empty so you can maneuver your car however you need to to get the best spot. Done it a few times, so enjoyable. Otherwise it's a nice place, great view, I don't think I've ever seen parking even 1/2 full.
Mischievous M — Google review
If u are looking for an awesome view of the area this is one of the best places to find it. It is also a great place to go for a challenging walk or run. If u can handle big hills that is. And yes kids there is a playground up top of the hill. Not too far from parking. Which there is usually always plenty of. There is also a path to the canal and the big locks. Its also one of the best places in all of peterborough to go tobogganing and GT snow racing in the winter. Now with that in mind please be CAREFUL when sledding here. As the hill is VERY STEEP, LONG AND THERE IS A FENCE BEFORE THE ROAD AT THE END. I would recommend you yous something with steering and MOST IMPORTANTLY BREAKS. None wants to see kids hurt while sledding. On top of all of that the Peterborough Museum is also right in the park pretty much. I hope this helps with anything u may have been wanting to know.

The park offers tranquil pathways and educational opportunities through its native plant sales. It's an ideal location for a peaceful stroll or moments of contemplation within the city. Visitors can also explore the childhood education center, tree tunnel, play area, and cedar maze, making it a charming destination for families. Partner and I love walking through here while at beavermead to admire the wildlife and play on the play structures. So happy to see it getting revived. Great location along the water. This year we’ve seen lots of groundhogs, chipmunks and birds, especially blue jays at the bird feeders.

If you do Property Maintenance and need trees, plants and shrubs to mulch and topsoil. Also i have noticed its 4:20 friendly. Go there and love it.if 4:20 leaves you sleepy can always set up camp next door and sleep it off.

I love spending time here, meditating in the pagoda surrounded by plants and flowers. There is no washroom onsite which is a downside, but Beavermead Park has one, about 500 feet away. A really great place to relax, to hang out with a few friends. In the park its self they sell saplings and dirt and wood chips and they have a childhood education center. They just built a whole new building so they should be starting something new next year!

Nestled in the heart of nature, Trent University Wildlife Sanctuary offers an enchanting escape with its three scenic loop trails: the Red Trail (1.9 km), Yellow Trail (2.4 km), and Blue Trail (2.9 km). Whether you’re lacing up your hiking boots or gliding through on cross-country skis, this sanctuary is a perfect spot for outdoor enthusiasts seeking tranquility away from the crowds.
Love this sanctuary many trails and not many people just you and nature. Saw many birds but not much of any other wildlife. Lots of beauty!

Jackson Park is a sprawling green space centrally located with well-maintained green areas, numerous trails, and a quaint bridge with a pagoda roof. It offers a mix of old-growth forest, hidden fields, and riverside paths perfect for sunset strolls. The park is an ideal escape from urban life for both humans and dogs, providing natural spaces to exercise and relax. Visitors can explore the oldest trees in the city or hike along the Trans-Canada Trail.
Really lovely forest trails to walk through, especially during fall. The rivers/creeks that run through the trail are delightful and a perfect spot for your pup to have a drink or a swim if you’re walking the dog. Parking can be a bit iffy, especially on a weekend, but otherwise, it’s fine. Lots of other mini trails all around the place if you look.

They do have some trails in this park. This park allows biking, running or walking around, and pet friendly.

Peaceful and well maintained! Not much parking available. 20 vehicles or so max. If you have respiratory issues, please be careful as the gravel road causes clouds of dust each time a biker passes by or if there's wind. Wasn't crowded therefore people don't tend to wear masks there.
Farah A — Google review
My roommates and I live just down the road from here, we come all the time and love it. It's walking distance from most of Parkhill and Chemong, or from downtown. The trails are always groomed and there's both hills and flat ground. Would recommend for any time of the year.
Rebecca R — Google review
Omg! It's such a peaceful place to let go off your stress. One can go pick either parkway trail or Jackson creek trail to embrace this beautiful hub of nature. I thoroughly enjoyed the calmness of the park alongside the beautiful lake.

Jackson Park is to Peterborough what Central Park is to New York. I can get lost for hours there with my dog. There are ways to find paths that are less frequented so that my dog can enjoy leash-free exercise without it disturbing anyone. (Not recommended for every dog owner) There are still plenty of accessible paths available for leashed-dogs, just as beautiful. It's a beautiful forest, nestled in the heart of the city, honestly feel so lucky to have access to such a beautiful space, any season.

The Pièce de résistance in hiking, walking and biking! Numerous offroad trails, plus the main gravel trail that goes through the park and well beyond. The old railway, now part of the Trans Canada Trail. Jackson creek runs through, down to the large pond and pagoda bridge flowing all the way down to the Otanabee River. Enjoyable outings no matter the season.

Tucked away on Hunter Street in Peterborough, The Only Cafe is a vibrant gem that perfectly captures the city's artistic spirit. This beloved establishment boasts an inviting patio and a cozy interior adorned with eclectic artwork, creating a unique ambiance reminiscent of a dive bar rather than your typical cafe. Known for its friendly staff and laid-back vibe, it’s the ideal spot to unwind with friends or enjoy live music events hosted in their upstairs event space.
Stopped in for early lunch today and let me tell you, I am so glad we did. I ordered the Worlds Better sandwich and it was insanely delicious. The server was amazing, the vibes were immaculate. I can see why this spot has so many good reviews. I’m not sure if I could even recreate the taste of the this sandwich, someone needs to wife up the girl in the kitchen!

The Only Café is such a cute and charming spot—truly one of the most unique places I’ve visited. It has such a cool, eclectic vibe that makes it feel instantly welcoming, whether you’re stopping in for a coffee, a meal, or a late-night drink. The atmosphere alone sets it apart, but the food and drinks really seal the deal. The menu has something for everyone, which makes it an easy choice no matter what time of day you visit. From hearty breakfasts to great options later in the evening, there’s always something tempting. I started with their drip coffee, and honestly, it’s some of the best I’ve ever had—rich, smooth, and perfectly brewed. On top of that, I tried one of their Caesars, and it was absolutely out of this world. Flavorful, balanced, and made with so much care, it’s easily one of the best Caesars I’ve ever had anywhere. A huge shoutout to Esther, who gave us incredible service. She was attentive, friendly, and genuinely made the experience feel special. The Caesar is 100% her masterpiece, and she made the whole visit memorable. The Only Café is a true gem—cozy, unique, and consistently excellent. Can’t wait to come back!
Sabrina V — Google review
Peterborough might only have one café, but honestly, it doesn’t need more—this spot nails it. From the moment you step inside, the atmosphere feels more like a cozy dive bar than your typical coffee shop. The walls are covered in cool, eclectic artwork that gives the place a ton of personality and makes every visit feel a little different depending on what catches your eye. The coffee is hands-down some of the strongest and best I’ve had anywhere—bold, rich, and brewed just right. You can tell they really care about doing it properly. It’s the kind of cup that wakes you up in the best way and keeps you going without any bitterness. Food here is equally impressive. The menu is simple but super tasty, with dishes that feel homemade yet thoughtful. Everything I’ve tried has been flavorful and fresh—perfect for pairing with that amazing coffee. On top of all that, the service is friendly and genuine. The staff make you feel welcome whether you’re just grabbing a quick cup or hanging out for a while. All in all, this place is a hidden gem and absolutely worth the stop. Peterborough’s café scene might be small, but it’s mighty.
Simon — Google review
You can't afford to miss this cafe when you visit Peterborough. The British Breakfast and the Cowboy Breakfast are good. The potatoes are meticulously fried. Not oily. Not overdone. Well balanced between soft and solid. Prime eggs are used and rich in taste. The coffee is rich in flavour. The attendant is friendly and diligent. Very impressive that the attendant is sensitive to first time customers. The washroom is also clean. The cafe is unique in the way that the chef dresses formally with a long sleeved white shirt and a tie and that the photos of different singers / bands of different ages are posted. The former makes you believe that the chef respects his mission. The latter may prompt you to recall different memories. These factors add a special layer to the dining experience.

The Art Gallery of Peterborough is a wonderful venue that showcases contemporary art by both local and international artists. It offers programs for children and has a gift shop where patrons can purchase artworks from local artists. While the staff is friendly, some visitors wish that prints of current pieces were available for purchase. The gallery's location on the waterfront may cause some confusion since the nearby canoe museum is inland. Though constrained by their building, the gallery displays interesting and diverse art pieces with aspirations to expand in the future.
What a gem of a place! Entrance fee is based on donation. It's situated in a beautiful area, right on the water. I loved the pieces they have, in particular, the work by artist Peer Christiansen, beautiful work! We visited the gift shop too, many beautiful items available. Staff were helpful and very friendly, thank you for making our visit special.

The Art Gallery of Peterborough is a hidden gem on the shores of Little Lake, offering a peaceful retreat with a stunning view of the water. The gallery is small but well-curated, featuring a diverse range of contemporary and historical Canadian art, with a special focus on regional and Indigenous artists. It’s the kind of place where you can step away from the noise of daily life, take in thought-provoking exhibitions, and immerse yourself in creativity. The location itself is part of the experience—nestled in a quiet, scenic spot with a walking path along the lake, making it a perfect place for reflection before or after a visit. The gallery also hosts workshops, artist talks, and community events, making it an important cultural hub for Peterborough. Whether you're an art enthusiast or simply looking for a tranquil space, it’s a wonderful place to spend an afternoon.

Confederation Square, located in the heart of downtown across from City Hall, is a significant park featuring various monuments and memorials. The Cenotaph War Memorial, Brown Memorial, and the There But Not There life-sized monument pay tribute to wartime sacrifices. Despite being a popular spot for Remembrance Day events, this year saw fewer visitors due to COVID-19 restrictions. The park's pathways offer a peaceful stroll, although amenities like washrooms may be closed during winter.

For Remembrance Day it's always full, except for this year and covid. Even with the current situation there were still many people, keeping their distance to listen to a shortened version of events. Makes you think of how good we have it as Canadians, and proud of those who made the sacrifice for this. Only one drawback as they have not yet recognized the Afghanistan War and those we lost with a monument to their sacrifice.

Located in Farmcrest Park along the south side of Willowcreek Trail, Peterborough Dog Club Off-leash Dog Park offers a spacious area for dogs to exercise and socialize without leashes. The park features three separate fenced sections catering to different dog temperaments, providing ample space for play and interaction. Visitors appreciate the availability of water bowls and parking, although some mention the lack of shelter from the sun and occasional muddy conditions.
One of the best dog parks! Three separate fenced areas, poop bags provided, a nice mix of wood chips, grass and shrubs. No prong or spike collars allowed.
Bethann M — Google review
This park needs some work. It's basically a flat, muddy field with a bush at one end. However, I do appreciate the three, sizeable, fenced-off areas. The largest has a kind of gazebo for shade and there are a couple of garbage bins. Most people don't pick up the poop even though someone kindly left a lot of bags to use (not me).
Natasha H — Google review
Visited in August, 2024 and it was deeply disappointed in the state of the facilities. It was possibly the most run-down dog park I’ve visited. All 3 penned in areas were overgrown and the gates to enter/exit were almost unusable due to the overgrown weeds. They also do not fully enclose the space as small dogs can easily get underneath the gates. In one area, it looks like there is an old bus shelter, with a bench & a mattress. I’m not sure who maintains these areas, but they are in great need of attention. Needless to say, our visit was short and we will not be returning.
Dan A — Google review
We love this dog park. There are 3 different fenced in dog parks. One for friendly social dogs, One for not so social dogs and one for single/multi use. There are bowls for water. There is parking, a bit of a walk down a paved trail to the dog parks. There's a stream on one side of the path set in a bit. Youll definitely want to bring some water 😜🐕🐕‍🦺🐶 ENJOY and please remember to pick up your fur babies poop!

The only off-leash park in Ptbo, that I know of. I like that there are three separate, gated sections. I wish there was shelter from the sun in each of them. Highly recommend!! They did our roof 6 years ago and were the best price, no issues, roof was completed faster time than promised even. So when we still had damage from the March ice storm, and no one connected to insurance was returning our calls, I called Sam Bowers roofing to see if they could help. Bill fixed our issue within a couple days in no time at all!! We waited 4 months for others that never showed. Bill came right away. The short version: You won’t go wrong choosing Sam Bowers Roofing! The long version: I do my research before selecting a contractor and I ask lots of questions. I also believe in top quality and that quality and excellent service is worth paying for. I’m no stranger to what’s involved in doing an excellent roof re-shingling project having done several in my younger days. Age however has caught up to me and re-shingling my roof that was damaged during the May 2022 wind storm required a roofing expert. I talked to several local roofing contractors, but quickly zeroed-in on Sam Bowers Roofing. Bill Bowers (son of original owner Sam) impressed me from start to finish. He gladly made several visits to the house to meet with me and answered all my questions related to what would be a difficult re-shingling job. As a result of several conversations we had before signing a contract, it was clear to me that Bill Bowers is an EXPERT ROOFER and superb at communicating with customers!!! From start to finish, Bill was great to work with. He is 100% reliable, and did everything he said he would do. Bill and his team did a 1st class job of re-shingling my roof. I could not be happier with the excellent quality of their work and I have no hesitation whatsoever in highly recommending Sam (Bill) Bowers Roofing. You won’t (cannot!) go wrong selecting Sam Bowers Roofing. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊 Ed Lukaszewicz

We have gone here so many times and it is an amazing place all of the kids love it ages 2-13! It's a blast and it's educational too! There are many things to enjoy outside and indoors. There is a lot of walking but it's very worthwhile. It is an amazing spot especially because there is not much in the area. Fun reptiles fun dinosaur models! And we love that it supports the work the reptile sanctuary does.

Great experience! Our 4 yr old grandson was excited to see all the reptiles .. snakes, alligators/ crocodiles!! We were under the impression this was a drive through however that is no longer an option. There are roads, gravel to walk through the Dino creatures so recommend good walking shoes. They also have a museum Dino displays building , some Dino’s are robotic, make noises. I’ve added a few photos of just some of the many photos we took! I can’t show all its many fine features this place offers! Price was decent for the experience, would recommend this to anyone passing through ! Clean washrooms upon entering the check in. Not much in the way of spots to stop and rest during the walk of the Dino layout. For younger kids a wagon is a great option as our grandson found it too much so we are glad we brought ours. Staff were very friendly and helpful! There is a mini putt at the entrance and a food truck was also available. Inside has the typical visitor gifts to purchase! And a small ice cream bars to purchase! We grabbed our treat when we departed! Thanks for a great experience!!

Fantastic place!! I went with my 3 year old, this place is also a non-profit reptile sanctuary! I have never veen so close to a black mamba or cobra before!! The dinosaurs were huge the walking path was smooth enough for a stroller. You are able to bring food and there are picnic benches throughout.

Awesome afternoon! The kids really enjoyed all the moving and still dinos! Bring good shoes, lots of walking. Amazing to see all the rescued reptiles, alligators, crocodiles, tortoises, snakes and more! Highly recommend if you love dinosaurs!

A Hidden Gem in Bancroft: Canada’s Dinosaur Park 🦕❤️ If you’re looking for a unique and heartwarming experience in Ontario, Canada’s Dinosaur Park in Bancroft is an absolute must-visit. This isn’t just a fun roadside attraction—it’s a passion-powered, non-profit sanctuary for rescued reptiles and a full-blown dinosaur museum rolled into one. From the moment you arrive, the care and dedication of the team is obvious. Every rescued reptile here—from snakes and lizards to turtles and dragons—has a name, a story, and a forever home thanks to the people behind this incredible organization. You can feel the love and respect they have for every creature in their care. The dinosaur exhibits are also impressive—especially considering they’re entirely funded by donations and run by volunteers. It’s part museum, part educational experience, and part walk-through time machine. Kids and adults alike will love the life-sized dino sculptures and fossil displays, and there’s plenty of interactive elements to keep you engaged. ✨ What makes this place truly special: • It’s 100% non-profit, so every dollar supports animal care and education • You get to meet real, living reptiles up close (safely!) • The staff are incredibly knowledgeable and passionate • It’s perfect for families, school trips, or curious adventurers of any age Whether you’re a reptile enthusiast, a dino lover, or just looking for something cool to do off the beaten path, Canada’s Dinosaur Park is worth the trip. Support a local cause, learn something new, and leave with your heart full. 📍 Located in Bancroft, ON 🦖 Visit them, donate if you can, and spread the word—this hidden gem deserves all the love.

We stopped at Canada’s Dinosaur Park on our way from Toronto to Quebec thinking it would be a fun break for our 4 year old who loves dinosaurs but it was honestly a letdown. These are basically large toy models that move slightly with sound effects that are too low to really impress. They no longer have a drive thru option just a walk thru which takes around 20 minutes to complete. They do have a section with live animals like snakes, turtles and alligators which was a bit more interesting. But overall my son got bored just a few minutes in and we expected more for the price we paid. $25 per adult and $15 per child feels too steep for what is offered. Something like $10 and $15 would be more reasonable. If you are local maybe try it once but I would not recommend making a special trip just for this. It is not worth a long drive.

My kid loved it here. Something different and I thought the trailer would be short but it wasnt. Time we'll spent and they are a non profit organization and take care of the animals with what they make there. Check them out, you won't be disappointed.

Canada Dinosaur Park is a very nice place to visit, especially for families. The entrance fee is reasonable, so it doesn’t feel overpriced compared to other attractions. The life-sized dinosaurs and displays are fun and engaging, and it’s a great spot for kids to explore and enjoy. That said, the park could use a bit more maintenance in certain areas. Some of the installations are starting to look a little worn, and a bit of upkeep would really help make the experience even better. Overall though, it’s a good outing that balances fun, affordability, and a unique theme.

The area features over 10 kilometers of multi-use trails suitable for hiking, walking, and trail running, catering to various difficulty levels. Gorgeous single track up and down hills, various technical challenges, marked trail levels. Moderately challenging hikes. Beautiful scenery with close trees and very quiet.

They have great trails for walking or mountain biking. The parking lot has been expanded in the last few years. There is a washroom available, along with picnic tables. Trails provide a mix of scenery - some open, some forested.
Grace C — Google review
I'm sure it's good for mountain biking. I was there for a hike. A bit small with twisty trails. A bit of vertical elevation, but didn't find much in the way of nice views.
Not D — Google review
A naturalists heaven, the grounds have a wide variety of paths to explore on bike or on foot. Each with their own quirky name, distance and level of difficulty, this area will have you coming back to explore over and over again. The routes are worth checking out through each season and are fairly well marked. Just be cautious in the spring after the thaw as some passages can become flooded or difficult to pass through.

Great hiking biking, skiing in the winter! Great outdoor recreation area
Griffin R — Google review
Love the trails here!! Lots of different routes to take. Short walks or long walks. Always some cool mushrooms to look at! Great views from the top of the hill! :)
Vicki — Google review
Great place to take family for a hike. At the very least dont forget the path you took to get where you are. We were turned around and spent 20 minutes looking for a path down, ended up backtracking. But good hike for hour or 2.
Kyle C — Google review
Great mountain bike hill. Something for everyone. Easy trails available for kids (Porcupine Pie for really young kids, Breakwall and the back side of the mountain for older kids). Overall the trails are very technical, not just a ride in the park. Good for hiking too for the whole family. Watch out for the back side of the hill because it is wet for the beginning of the season until June or so (this year with the downpour it is more likely to be well into July before it is dry back there).

Nestled in a picturesque setting, Cobourg East Campground offers spacious and well-maintained campsites. The owner's dedication to keeping the park beautiful is evident, with clean facilities and a cozy atmosphere. Despite some negative reviews possibly stemming from misunderstandings of campground rules, many visitors find it to be an ideal stopover with full hookups for trailers and proximity to water. Families appreciate the family-friendly environment with activities for kids, while seasonal campers contribute to the warm and welcoming atmosphere.
My husband, son and I went away for the long weekend. I am not a camper, but staying at East Cobourg Campground might have turned me into one. Lots are well maintained and a great size. Washrooms and showers are clean. Super family friendly with activities going on for the kids. Seasonal campers are very friendly and warm/welcoming. We had a wonderful weekend! Thank you!!
Candice R — Google review
Nice camp ground, overall a ni e experience would be 5 stars but there is a suprise charge for kids 16 and over, not communicated till time of check in. Not full disclosure also extra charges if park owner visits your site more than once. Sites are on the smaller size but if you are with a group of trailers then you are close to your friends.

We have stayed here occasionally for the last 3 years. Extremely well-kept. Nice, well stocked store. Clean laundry room and showers. Lovely pool. Ant beat it for the price!!
Diane P — Google review
I had made a trip up with my daughter and friend to try our luck fishing last year. I had my father come with two of his friends, they gave us a beautiful camp site and my dad got a cabin, I had an amazing time, the owner was very accommodating they had everything you could want, I had gone there before but much younger and the place was perfect just as I remembered. Everybody had a great time my dad said the cabin was perfect, he’s not one for sleeping on the ground anymore lol his friends loved it and still talk about it and I got to share this memory with my daughter Sam and my dad once again! Thank you so much for a great memory!

We visited family whom were staying at the park. It is a great spot. Very friendly and helpful owners and staff, with well manicured grounds, a large and clean pool and a stream for the kiddos to play in.

I called to inquire about parking an rv for sometime. She out right refuses to allow any motor home more then 10 years old on the property. Even a newly renovated motorhome. Ridiculous if you ask me.
Daniel S — Google review
Quiet campground beautiful place . nicely stocked store . dishwasher station and laundry facilities also showers and pool .
Kimberly H — Google review
I needed a campground as a middle point between my start and final destination. I needed full hook up for my trailer and wanted to be close to water. I found it all here! Place is small and cozy. Very very very well kept. I have seen some run down campgrounds - this is not the case here. Clean pool. Sites are not on top of one another. Wifi signal is not the strongest but… Lake Ontario and beaches are within 5 min drive. Silence is deafening here. And owners are nice and accommodating which is another plus as i have certainly ran into some jerks before!!! Thank you for my wonderful peace and quiet
