One of the best places within the whole area 🙌 We were there 3 times during the daytime. Absolutely lovely espresso based coffee, desserts and food itself ❤️ Service is also great, very welcoming and attentive staff. Came out to have brunch and was not disappointed! Food was so good, it had me wondering how I can improve my own cooking! The chicken was both flavorful and moist, with the eggs equally wonderful. Everything we got was great, can't wait to come back next year! 💖

Good place to.be and try pancakes. It is combined place of 3 different bars/restaurant. U can smoke Shisha have some beer or shots and eat good food. Pancakes are amazing. Scrapes were outstanding. Love the entourage. Marcos thx for your recommendations and service. Visited twice ;)

As a Greek from the Peloponnese, I've never seen a place like this....the prices was so good for a place like this, the portions of the food was more than enough, which reminds me of the Real Greek food culture, the people on service was too professional and nice. But mostly I got amazed of the architecture design of the shop. And the taste of the cocktails? 🍸 was on another level... if I had the chance I would have gave you all the stars of the whole sky rather than only 5 stars. Good job guys im proud of you 👏

Delicious strawberry crepe. It was a large portion size. Great for breakfast or dessert. Paid 11 euros for strawberry crepe (6.30€) & flat white coffee (4.70€). Easy to walk to cafe. Service was very attentive. Lots of outdoor seating options.

Came here for dinner and the restaurant is beautiful, the service was great and the cocktails were ok, although the old fashioned was extremely sweet. Sadly the food was a bit disappointing. The prices here are quite a bit higher than at other restaurants in the area and it's trying very hard to be fancy fine dining with very small portions using things like foams etc., which is fine, and I don't mind paying for fine dining if the food is good, but for us the food here just wasn't very good. The shrimp entree was pretty good and was the best dish we had. The ravioli was quite bland with a foamy sauce that didn't have much flavor. The mussels and octopus dish was served completely cold and the combination of flavors and the green sauce just didn't work together and it wasn't enjoyable. Overall the ambience here is great and it's a really nice little courtyard to have a meal, but sadly the quality of the food just doesn't match the high prices at all.

My second best restaurant in Rethymno is Avli, more Cretan cuisine with zest of contemporary methods. Very fresh and will not disappoint savvy foodies and those who are looking for a super dinner in the centre of Rethymno town. Very romantic, sat in a traditional courtyard with trees and flowers surrounding ancient authentic walls. Wine list is great and also the sommelier knows how to help you decide with goes best with your order. Not very economical but portions are quite generous. The staff is lovely and here too we came twice! Many restaurants in Rethymno looks like a tourist trap, this one definitely not and yet you have a romantic instgrammable backdrop to please everyone.

Quite high standard of the dishes, both in creativity and plating for a resort town like Rethymno. It actually measures up to fine dining, including service and staff being knowledgeable of vines and oils. Good flavours and balanced wine pairings. Very nice to find a tasting menu with smaller portions so that we can experience more flavours at dinner. I am giving 4 stars for food because some of the dishes could really use some salt to take the dish to an even higher level. Otherwise very nice, probably the nicest place to eat in Rethymno.

Wandering through the streets of Old Town we were in search of a place to have some unique cocktails and maybe something to eat. We ordered the Mastic Mist and another cocktail I can't remember the name of (starts with an E). They were by far the BEST drinks we have ever had. Well balanced, unique in taste and surprising, not what you would expect from a traditional blend of extracts, spices and spirits. Hope to be back to Rethymnon and experience Avli like it deserves.

Absolutely stunning restaurant, staff Michalis , Eva and Stalios were very nice and knowledgeable. Every dish we had looked and tasted amazing and the local wine was very complementary. Will definitely go back again and highly recommend.

Charming restaurant that you can access from one of the quaint side streets or directly from the square. We stopped after meandering the old town for several hours for a drink. I sat down and said to my friend "I'd like a lemonade" and there were 2 on the menu but neither was available. However, two special lemonades were available, one with lavender and one with rose. Both delicious and refreshing.

By far the best food we had on Crete – highly recommended! Absolutely fantastic experience at Lemonokipos! The service was warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. The food was honestly outstanding – I’ve never had grilled calamari this tender and flavorful, and the octopus was just as impressive. The setting under the old plane trees is beautiful and adds to the authentic Greek atmosphere. If it didn’t take us 1.5 hours to get there, I would seriously eat here every single day.

I had heard about their famous lemon tart and stopped by to sample it. Wow! It could well be the best lemon meringue tart/pie I've ever had (and I've tried many). The friendly manager/owner recommended a glass of wine to go with it and it was a perfect duo. The courtyard setting under the trees is lovely too.

The atmosphere was lovely and the service was nice. However we ordered fish of the day and it was incredibly pricy for the portion. Also for the 3 pieces of vegetables we did get - they felt frozen. The small amount of the fish was tasty.

We heard really good things about the restaurant and we were excited to try, but ended up pretty disappointed. We ordered « a puff pastry » with feta cheese, lemon, rose, and fig. However, it was three different pastries with fig, rose jam, and lemon jam. It wasn’t quite our taste. For main dishes, we ordered the lamb/pork burger and rigatoni with pesto and pork tenderloin. The burger was delicious, but the accompanied fries were a bit hard to eat. The pesto dish was quite oily and not as flavorful. We didn’t finish the dish. We were given complementary cake and raki which was nice and tasted great though. The servers were friendly and everything was given within a good time. Unfortunately, we didn’t enjoy the rest of the food much.

Another good restaurant in Rethymno Old Town. Food, atmosphere and service were top notch. Especially starter (greek meze platter) and deserts were delicious. Location is perfect and you definitely can feel the authentic greek taverna. Yes, they don't have usual greek food, but is more like fusion between greek and modern cuisines. Definitely worth a visit when you're in Rethymno.

This restaurant is truly excellent — everything from the food to the service to the atmosphere is top-notch. The staff were warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming, and the setting is beautiful both inside and out. The interior, built within an old stone structure, gives it a charming, authentic feel, while the outdoor seating area is cozy and full of character. The menu is rich and varied, with many well-crafted Cretan dishes. We ordered several plates, all delicious and nicely presented. The traditional Cretan salad was great, the cheese bites with different toppings were amazing (especially the fig one), and the stuffed vine leaves were excellent — and I say that as someone who grew up eating them at home. We also tried the sea bream carpaccio, which was fresh and interesting, though the fruits on top slightly overpowered the fish. Still tasty, but the balance could be improved. The only drawback is the price — it’s quite expensive. It doesn’t ruin the experience, but it’s worth mentioning. Everything else, from the food to the service, was truly outstanding. After dinner, the staff even helped us find a table at the bar just behind the restaurant, which added to the overall experience. A beautiful place tucked between the alleys — definitely worth a visit if you don’t mind the higher prices.

Enjoyed my dining experience at Raki Ba Raki. Beautiful restaurant setting with seating out on the street. Nicely decorated restaurant. Service was good ,our waiter was really lovely ! Quite a big menu with vegetarian options at meat. Our food was really good and I enjoyed it but wasn’t outstanding. Highlight was the fried potatos (amazing). Complimentary orange cake and traditional liquor at the end. Good drink selection and wine list. Nice play to go out for dinner.

We came at around 8pm on a saturday night without reservation and were able to get a table directly inside. Food was served quickly but we felt a bit rushed (Waiter came for our order while we were still looking at the menu, the starter and main dish arrived before we could even finish our first drink and we noticed lots of looks from the waiters to see if the table needed to be cleared, although we weren’t even 15 minutes into the main dish). Food-wise, very good dolmas, and the octopus with fava bean puree was perfectly cooked. The homemade pasta was disappointing though. Pretty overcooked and overall felt heavy. The chocolate baklava had a good taste and texture.

This restaurant is a must visit place if you are in Crete. The food is very delicious, the portions are large and well prepared. The staff are very polite and welcoming and the restaurant is so well decorated. I suggest the lamb and the oxtail. Overall I strongly recommend it!

I ate greek salad as starter and it was ok, it is hard to spoil that if ingredients are ok. As a main course chicken with small salad and fries. Chicken was not the best one, it was not prepared properly and not the best parts of chicken. Fries were tasteless, so this course was was not good at all. What is good in this restaurant, first of all it is beautiful place and the service is really good. I loved the dessert cake, which came on the house. Waiters are really friendly and make you feel good. All the other things worked, but my main course, so I give anyways four stars.

Very pretty restaurant and location a sort of oases in the middle of a busy shop street. We wanted to try a few of traditional Greek dishes so we ordered only starters and it was delicious and we got a complimentary dessert in the end. The staff was really sweet and a bonus point the neighbours cat would climb over the wall and say hello so cute 😁.

A great spot for a vacation night out – lively atmosphere all around. Wide variety of food and cocktails, football on TV, a DJ spinning popular hits at the bar, hookah — what more could holidaymakers need? There’s a big cocktail selection — we tried a lemon twist on a Negroni, which was quite tasty. Also had a Greek salad, and everything was at a solid level. Special mention goes to the friendly and attentive service — thank you!

A hidden gem for breakfast, Cul de Sac is tucked away in a beautiful, quiet alley in Rethymno's Old Town. The food here is amazing. We had the beef tacos, Greek salad, baguette with ham cheese, mayo and fries. The salad came without capers and Olives but it was quickly rectified when mentioned. The cappuccino and flat white were the best we've had on the island (so far). The toilets are pristine too. Nice place in a great location 👍 🌮☕️

Lovely place for a coffee. We came here in February when all the shops and cafes are quiet. The latte we had was very nice. The lady serving was very friendly and this is a lovely welcoming cafe with nice tables and chairs and plenty of seating just inside and outside. Will definitely return.

When I say this ice cream is a delight and food for the gods, when it contains Angels hair it really is! I chose the traditional dish based I ice-cream called Kantaifi which is creamy vanilla, almond, honey and Angels hair this is a delightful mix of crunchy and creamy and the angels hair is a bit like a really sweet shredded wheat without the taste of cardboard. The Ice cream Parlour is quite central in the old town right next to the water fountain. The service is cheerful and quick and the staff are really friendly, you can even have a taste of one of the 40 different flavours! There's even a few chairs to sit and relax outside, this was my second visit made better by the fact that the ice cream is made from goats milk so fabulous for those who have issues with milk. Would recommend any day of the week.

I came to this restaurant and offered to buy anything, as my toddler son desperately needed to use the restroom. The unfriendly owner said no, didn’t realize I spoke Greek and proceeded to tell me to “Get out” in Greek. Do not recommend based on service alone. Plus not everything is homemade.

They offer a variety of desserts based on loukoumades. We tried the traditional version with honey and walnuts: fresh dough, quality honey (not always the case in places serving loukoumades), and just the right balance of everything. A great spot!

A very nice and trendy cafe with impressive Christmas decor. The place offers good sweet and savoury pastries and pies. It is a good place for breakfast. Beware that the place is very popular and gets crowded, it is often hard to find a table. There can also be a lot of smoke and noise.

Really nice place to go and enjoy your brunch , nice atmosphere and most important of all very tasty food! The ingredients were fresh and our coffee good. Service was fast and the staff very polite. For sure I'll go again

Bankery is a fun place to grab a coffee and sweet treat! It's decorated in a really fun way, and the waiters are also dressed with the theme. The place can get quite loud, so it's not the idea place to work (unless you love loud places), but it's fun to sit and enjoy a coffee or chat with friends. The energy is lively, so it's not a quiet coffee shop. Also, smoking is allowed indoors, which is very typical in Greece.

What a fantastic meal. With a mostly attentive staff. About the only drawback is that the "inside" is really the inside and outside patio as one giant area that you can smoke cigarettes right beside a table in the non smoking area, that part sucked. However we will go back.

My American family of four that included an 11 and 13 year old was craving a big breakfast. We had been hanging out in Old Town every day and hadn't seen anything that would fit the bill. Then we saw photos on Trip Advisor and decided to give The Bankery a try. No, it's not The Bakery. It's Bankery because it used to be a bank, and still has the huge vaulted door downstairs!) It took awhile to get noticed by the wait staff once seated, but then they were so nice and so attentive! The kids had a lovely plate of eggs and bacon, and my husband and I shared the Variety Breakfast Platter for two. It was fabulous! A ton of food with a great selection of Cretan favorites and traditional American/ British choices. It was way too much for two so the kids shared and we brought the rest back to our villa. In addition, I had been craving some "American" style drip or filtered coffee. Couldn't find it anywhere. Here at Bankery I finally found it. Even better, it came in a great big glass mug that I could add all the creamer I wanted. I cried with delight I was so happy. I even ordered a second, it was so good. The manager and wait staff were very friendly and just couldn't do enough for us. We appreciated the free refills of cold clean bottled water as it was a hot day outside. In addition, the setting and decor was really hip and happening with good music. It would be a nice trendy bar if it were in Chicago. Yet there were lots of children present. The only thing that deterred from our enjoyment was that our table was surrounded by heavy smokers, but A) that is the culture, B) as Americans we're just not exposed to that anymore so it takes getting used to, and C) we were seated outside so that helped to dissipate the smoke. Lastly, the bill was incredibly reasonable for all the freshly squeezed juices and food that was ordered. All in all we had a great visit and we are so glad we stopped here.

A good choice for coffee and breakfast for two. Good location, right in the heart of Rethymnos. Although the service is quite friendly, they allow smoking in the cafe, which is quite annoying for the non smoking customers!!!!!!!!

This cafe is situated next to Rimondi Fountain, with natural shade. The service is excellent, and the drinks are very tasty and refreshing, especially the homemade lemonades. The food, however, is not very special. We had grilled calamari for lunch, which was quite chewy. Waiting time for food was over 30min. Overall, the cafe is a nice place to visit.

We stopped by Café Galero for a quick drink before dinner at another restaurant, and it turned out to be a lovely little surprise. The drinks were well-made and tasty, and the service remained friendly and efficient—even as our large group trickled in at different times. It’s a beautifully designed spot with a relaxed vibe, and I honestly would’ve liked to stay a bit longer.

The famous cafe in Rethimno, where we had a cappuccino at the beginning of the day, just arriving in Rethimno from Chania. It's a very nice place and you can also have snacks here, you could have a frugal lunch or a light dinner.

We had some break from exploring Rethymno and service are excellent but food was really bad we wait almost 40 minute and then we get our grilled calamari which was so chewy… but service and drink are amazing

We stopped by Galero for a late lunch. The food was top notch, the location is excellent, about halfway to most of the prominent landmarks. They also have a wide selection of beer both draught and bottled.

We had breakfast here sat out the front under the shady vines. The coffees and orange juices were both good. We shared the English Breakfast. I had the bacon and eggs. My wife ate the toast and jam.

Beautiful design of the place with a nice garden outside as well as spacious and well decorated area inside. The food is good and the prices are maaybe a little bit higher for the general restaurant prices in in the town but worth it in my opinion. Their service is great as well, you get they are fast professional and polite. They didn't even want to take the tip when we were paying our bill. I recommend giving it at least 2 visit one during the they where you can enjoy the scenery and cool off. Then at night for the party time, they have the perfect space for it.

We’ve been to Queen several times already and keep coming back – especially for the hookahs! We’ve purchased them three times now. While the flavors can be hit or miss, that’s more due to our adventurous taste than anything else. The tobacco itself is top quality – smooth, clean, and never causes a headache, which is rare to find these days. The cocktail menu is also impressive – creative, well-balanced drinks that pair perfectly with the vibe. And the DJ sets are always on point, setting a great atmosphere without being overwhelming. Highly recommend this place for anyone looking for a chill yet vibrant night out!

The atmosphere is great, but the service is zero. We sat for half an hour with empty glasses hoping that at least one waiter would pay attention to us and offer us drinks. But no one came up to us the whole evening! Once during the whole evening a waitress came to us asking to pay for the cocktails, but she didn't even offer to order again. And each time the waiters just walked past the table without paying any attention to us. With such service you will lose all your customers, despite the atmosphere.

I so wanted to love this place but it left me totally disappointed! We came for my birthday and reserved a table, mentioning what it was for. Despite knowing this, we weren't provided with much service. It started with a nice but very distracted waiter who did apologise initially as he was clearly being pulled in multiple directions. I ordered a drink but my partner was told he couldn't have his cocktail choice, nor a few others on the menu, but maybe later. No explanation for this and very strange. He then asked for a large coke but it only comes in a bottle apparently so that was the end of that. The cocktail I chose was ok, nothing special. We then ordered our starters and mains but my partner asked if he could pay extra to swap his boiled rice to egg fried rice and was told no, this was not possible. In fairness, this should've been enough red flags at this point but as I said, I wanted to love it here. The food was actually very nice when it arrived (we ordered off the Asian menu). Once they had given us our food, we were then totally forgotten about. We were planning on spending the evening here and had 2 friends who came to join us but we still had our plates in front of us for about 45 minutes before I flagged someone for a drinks order. Finally, someone came to take the drinks order and clear our plates and we had 2 strawberry daiquiris (apparently they couldn't be served frozen for some reason, as if shaking some ice into it was so difficult), a beer and another bottle of water. Later, we decided to ask for the bill and book a taxi back to our hotel because, whilst the music was great and the place looked great, the service was shocking and killed the vibe. This was the biggest ordeal ever... They didn't bring the bill or card machine so even our friends were getting annoyed so went to have a word with someone. One of the waiters then told us they were having a problem with their system and to bear with them. I explained we have a taxi due in 5 minutes because they already took so long and his solution was "cancel it and order another"! I was fuming at this point because they've already spoilt our night we were looking forward to, they have been slow and inattentive all night, and they now expect us to inconvenience both ourselves, our friends AND the taxi for their problem. A few times we were told we would need to stay and wait. I said we wouldn't be staying as we want to go and they need to figure out a way for us to pay. There was not even an apology or an offer of a complimentary drink or anything to try and get us to wait. Just to sit there in hope that their systems revive themselves. They got the manager in the end and she showed me that her order device didn't have the breakdown of our bill so tried to get us to pay which is what we wanted initially so I now didn't trust what I was being told. I checked what the bill should've been against the menu only because of other poor reviews I've read online about their bills. It was about right so we paid by card but they seemed irritated with us and it ended on a sour note when I actually wish they had just delivered a good service then we would've been there all night, spent a lot of money with them, and this could all have been avoided. It's also worth noting that my partner went to the toilets whilst we were there and said they were disgusting. The stars are simply because our food was nice, the music was nice and it's a good looking venue. It's a real shame.

This is a lovely cafe/restaurant with fantastic breakfast food! We had the pleasure of dining with a really cute cat. Our waitress Despina was super welcoming and friendly and provided excellent service. Would definitely recommend!

Nice variety of brunch/breakfast options, coffees and desserts! Very good portions and nice atmosphere. We tried the Japanese pancakes for the first time here and it was delicious! Despoina (our waitress) took very good care of us but all the staff were friendly as well. The place can be quite busy at times but we were able to find a spot just by dropping in.

We had lunch at Barrio and were genuinely impressed! The iced latte, club sandwich, and açaí bowl were absolutely outstanding — fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. What really surprised us was the very fair pricing for such high-quality food. On top of that, the service was friendly and attentive, making the whole experience even better. Highly recommended!

BARRIO – a place that makes you addicted… That’s what my boyfriend told me after trying the chocolate brownie and banana bread here. I didn’t believe him. And so we went together… Today we enjoyed a breakfast for two (they gifted us fresh juice and coffee — soooo sweet!) And that’s where it all began… First, we looked at each other, then at one another again, and back at each other… We couldn’t believe that this breakfast, kindly described to us by a girl with an angelic voice, would be so… so… exceptional. But even then, we had no idea what kind of gastronomic adventure awaited us. The fried egg with bacon was a classic. But the sausage… the sausage deserves first place among all sausages in the world (perhaps even in our galaxy)! This sausage makes you close your eyes and dream of only one thing — that when you open them, you’ll realize you haven’t eaten it all and can keep enjoying it! Forgive me, dear mister from Krakow who’s been grilling sausages for locals and tourists for 20 years — your sausage has now moved to second place, while yours (Barrio’s) has taken the top spot in my world sausage ranking!!! The pancakes melted in our mouths, the delicious jam, the honey, and the bread that reminded us of a colorful infinity of taste… Thank you again and again, to every single member of Barrio for your talented work. First of all, the view is amazing and almost singlehandedly worth the price of the dinner, highly recommended to visit this place for drinks and dinner after a walk around the fortress, as it's close by. The food is decent and priced fairly for the location. The staff is friendly and available at all times. Music is also good if you are into Greek radio-like songs; and volume is perfect for normal discussion with your party and sea sounds.

This place stood out to me as it was one of the few places in Rethemno that has great elevated sea views. Was a perfect rest spot after walking through the Fortezza ancient village. I thought it would be overpriced because of location but found it to very reasonable. Staff were extra friendly and made it a very enjoyable lunch stop. Colourful & friendly! Wonderful bar/ restaurant at the entrance to the fortezza. The elevated position makes for amazing views. The staff are really lovely and friendly. Went to Ali Vafis garden after dinner for a drink. Stunning outdoor courtyard with lots of greenery, nice moody lights and chill tunes. Big cocktail menu with wine and beer selections. Super nice place for a drink once the sun goes down! Didn’t eat here but the menu look decent. Nice little haven after being on the bustling streets all day!

It is quite hidden to find at first but has the beautiful garden to have a nice view while eating your lunch or dinner. Because it is outside so I recommend to come for dinner after sunset for the most comfortable feeling. During lunch time, it is quite hot. We ordered Rooster and Traditional Cretan pasta skioufihta. Both are really good. The food definitely is out of our expectation in the better way. The staff is helpful and caring enough.

The atmosphere is great; the restaurant is located in a quiet back garden, making it very quiet. The garden is also beautifully decorated. The food is good and average, nothing special. The service staff didn't seem very motivated, which was a shame. I think there's definitely still a lot of potential for improvement in the service department.

Ali Vafi’s Garden is a beautiful spot in the heart of Rethymno’s Old Town where you can finally escape the busy streets and relax in a truly elegant setting. The garden itself is charming — lush greenery, atmospheric lighting, and a sense of calm that feels a world away from the crowds. They serve some of the better beers and well-made cocktails in town, perfect for a quiet evening out. We’ve had food here in the past — while I can’t recall every detail, it was definitely good and never disappointing. If you’re looking for a place with class, a relaxed vibe, and quality drinks, Ali Vafi’s Garden is absolutely worth a visit.

Atmosphere was very nice, quiet with an internal terrace. That was for the good part. (That’s the 2 stars) Service was excruciatingly slow and poor. For a salad and couple of sides, we had to wait over 30 minutes. Same for our coffees, although ordered as soon as we arrived, took 20 minutes to come. Not particularly pleasant experience with the server. Regarding the food , well, it’s the first and only time we went to a greek restaurant that had no tomatoes, which automatically removed a lot of options from the menu (special mention to the comment when asked if there was a possible replacement of the tomato by something in the same dish “what’s the point?”. Additionally this was only mentioned to us after ordered rather than when giving us the menu. Taking into account the wait time between visits from the service, it made the whole sitting a painfully slow experience. Food was relatively pleasant, but nothing special or extraordinary. The only part that went fast was for getting the bill, which was overpriced for the quality of the experience. Every other place we went to during our trip (over 10) was better. I personally would only come back for a talk around a coffee for a slow morning or afternoon, definitely would not recommend if you’re only there for a day or two.

Nothing to do with Crete. Very tired waiters waiting for the season to end. Even they tried their best to be nice and polite. A mutated Greek salad with capers a salty to death feta cheese. Greek salad with cherry tomatoes and normal tomatoes. No paprika no olives . Supposed pickled onions that you had to dig in it to find them. No salt and pepper in the tables No olive oil. The waiter was coming with an almost empty bottle of olive oil to drop it in what we had ordered. Waited 45 minutes for my plate when the place was not so busy when all the rest of the table was eating and since it took so long I thought would be something special . It reminded everything but not a Rooster and the mashed potato was far from a mashed potato. 4 stars only for the service since they really looked tired and they did all their best to be gentle and polite. After all was not a nice experience and didn't remind a cretan Hospitality.

Even though it seemed nice at first. Not only were the staff incredibly rude with irony printed all over their face but they took almost an entire hour to bring us just two chicken wraps which weren't even worth the 16 euro price. It is not worth it or can even be considered the worst place to sit if you want to grab a quick relaxing bite before heading somewhere else

Don't buy the cold chocolate. It tastes like an instant chocolate you can make at home but worse and it costs nearly 5€ . It's watery and not sweet at all. I don't recommend.

Big and nice coffee bar next to the port with very nice view and alot wine and coffee choices. You have to park your car 100 m away if you are lucky but its very nice to have your drink here.

** Keep Walking ** We thought this place looked quite nice while walking past so decided to go in for a drink and some food. From the start the staff had an attitude towards us and took ages to serve us and bring us our order. As tourists we have been served really well at all the other establishments but this was the worst by far. Locals who came in ages after us were served way before us which is totally wrong. If you are looking for somewhere nice I would reccomend anywhere else.

They have nice Freddo espresso drinks. The service is fast. They have a very nice sea view. You can enjoy the view while having your drinks in Rethymno. I recommend it.

Breakfast visit, so nice and quiet. Shown to seat quickly. Meals not served together but not a massive problem...about 5 minute difference between first and final. All food lovely...we had energy boost yoghurt, praline pancakes, scrambled egg and bacon, and special omelette. All very filling and tasty. 50 euros for 4 breakfasts, 3 coffees and a cola plus free Bottled water. Good value. Recommend.

Lovely spot right on the beach, we had praline pancakes, mushroom avocado omelet, and sunny side up toast. The owner is so hands-on and gracious, the staff is very friendly and professional. Definitely worth a visit for brunch lunch or dinner.

The cocktails don’t contain much alcohol, so we ordered strong shisha and it was very light, not comparable with strong. However, the music, dj, atmosphere was great.

While it usually seems difficult to find good restaurants in touristy places, this one was a pleasant surprise in many regards. Very friendly staff, extremely broad selection of food (from Sushi to Mexican, Burgers, Salads, Pizza, Pasta, you name it), and the prices were very reasonable. We enjoyed our lunch very much.

The food was good, but the service wasn't. The food took really long to come to the table. We were a group of twelve people and they brought us the food right when it was ready so we had to watch our friends eating while we were still waiting for our food. Right after the first people finished the waiters came to clean up the table while the others were still eating. One friend of mine had to wait for his food for over an hour. When it arrived he noticed that he got the wrong sushi. Also they brought us the bill right after we ordered. The music in the restaurant was really loud so you could not talk to your friends. There was also some bright light that bothered us. There where underaged people, maybe twelve or thirteen years old, who were smoking cigarettes and e-shisha. In the bathroom there weren't any toiletseats. In the men's bathroom you couldn't lock the cabins and you could look through the doors. The sink was really dirty.

Initially we were intrigued by the sign “Mexican Sushi” and were disappointed that it wasn’t a fusion restaurant. Normally I wouldn’t trust a place that serves Mexican, Japanese and Mediterranean food and actually has three different menus. However…. In this case the chef managed to nail all three styles and all were very good! We really enjoyed the food and the staff was very friendly. The final positive surprises were at the end, the desserts were great (not small so save some space) and the bill was very friendly too!

We walked down the promenade and saw a card with "Sushi" - so we had to take a glimpse! The Lux Restaurant does have a seasonal Asian Sushi Maker and it was SO delicious! The waitresses were super friendly and attentive. The desert was very delicious as well!

Fabulous shop. Wonderful atmosphere with such an exciting array of interesting goods on offer. Lots of hers doctors and natural produce in addition to many delicious high quality treats. Bought an assortment of nuts and sweets there including amaxing pistachio balls for my husband's to take to chemo. Really wish we'd bought a whole lot more now as they've run out and are very missed. Fabulously helpful staff in a beautiful shop. I could spend hours there

Its the lobby of a hotel, so don't expect to see a sign out front. I found the place because I recognized the terrace furniture from the pictures. We were immediately greeted and served ice coffee. The waiters were kind. They have almond milk, which is nice. The coffee in Crete has a sour taste to it so its hard for me to give a good rating on taste, because everywhere you go on the island its the same.

We throughly enjoyed getting off the busy restaurant strip of old town Rethymno to enjoy the sincere hospitality and charm of this little jewel. The young lady who served us was so generous with her time and explanations of foods new to us. We had a light meal of Brusketta, Feta Sagnaki and Orange pie (portokalopita?). And although really a small order the welcome to linger and attention was incredible. I loved that the specials were handwritten on the menu and just felt our whole experience was a very authentic welcome and the tastes were mouth watering!

First day in Crete/rethymno, this Septembers day, and fancied a Greek salad and pint of local beer…. Although the Cafe/ restaurant was empty, sitting beside the air con unit was great, I had my pick of tables and service was warm and friendly… Definitely can recommend this place…

If you are after a more relaxed night out without the crowds of Rethymno, then I highly recommend this place. We enjoyed some good food and drinks, all while listening to good classic rock music on a really nice terrace.

Tried this place for breakfast, and it didn’t disappoint. The specialty coffee was solid, and we also went for one of their pinsas and the salmon salad—both were really good. The only downside was the oat milk in my iced cappuccino, which came out lumpy twice, even after I mentioned it. But overall, the experience was good, and the service was great. Thanks!

We came here many times during our stay in Crete. One of the only restaurants that didn’t try to pull you in, and that is what attracted us initially. Friendly service, whilst also being one of the less expensive seafront bars in Rethymno. Beautiful atmosphere, and very delicious food, cannot recommend enough.

The service was great, the cocktails perfect. The only comment I would make, is maybe reduce the wait staff by I've and increase the bar staff by one. We didn't wait too long for our drinks, but if they had been even quicker, we would have ordered more rounds.

The girl who prepares the coffees is so passionate about it and open to adapt to customers request! All she prepared for us was very good. We came here several days in a row. Absolutely fabulous stop, close to the Thursday market, for a late breakfast. So much choice on the menu - of both food and drink - and it was served quickly, with a smile by our friendly waitress. The poached eggs were top notch. My yoghurt, fruit and granola bowl was delicious. Would recommend!

The place has really good schedules to have breakfast, doesn’t seem much but it is important because many cafes have no “plentiful breakfasts” or the restaurants just serve starting at lunch. We ordered some eggs Turkish style but the sauce was for my taste too acidic and was lacking a bit a salt, also my eggs were too cooked so they were not runny but next time I will try something else. The coffee was good and the prices are really fair. The service was friendly and fast.

This had been my go-to place for a while. I love lots of choices on the menu. Recently though I had a bad experience that soured me on it. My 80 year old mom always joined me and always got the Chocolate croissant. Usually it was really good, but lately kind of spotty. The last time it was just really not edible. Mom very much hesitated to complain, but she did. Then a man came out and said that the croissant 'was always like this' and would not be dissuaded. I'm 100% sure that I know better. Yeah, fire that guy.

Great staff, ok location. We would appreciate some french fries with the veggie and falafel burgers though, although the ones that came with the club were like McDonald's'.

A nice place to have a lunch. I like the decoration. We had some sandwiches which were tasty and good sized, price was fair. The mojitos are good as well but in my opinion a little expensive. Unfortunately the service is really bad. Very unpolite and seems like in a bad mood. I felt like getting ignored multiple times. The waitress with the pink mask was nice tho. This gives my review 3 stars. Ambiente is nice but I couldn’t enjoy my stay 100% because of that service.

This place is absolute heaven! We had breakfast there every single time because we were hooked after the first day. I ate french toast, eggs benedict, omelett and pancakes. Everything was absolutely delicious and looked amazing. I should have taken pictures of the other dishes. The girls working there are very friendly and courteous. This is definitely the number 1 breakfast place in Rethimno. The prices are more than fair considering the large portions and the high quality food. Look no further.

If you're looking for super sweet waffles with chocolate and ice cream, this is your place. We shared one plate between the two of us. It was only 6€ and we could barely eat all of it. Customer service is a big plus.

The food here is amazing, we had the continental breakfast and maple syrup pancake, they were fantastic! The honey and yogurt inside the “continental breakfast” is so fresh! Also, my gf loves the decorations here 😄 Highly recommended

Cute instagrammable spot. I had the scrambled salmon, amazing. My boyfriend ordered the sweet mornings, and it was very disappointing. It looked like a 5 year old picked it out. A few pancakes, some cake slices thrown on the plate, two frozen donuts and two old mini crossiants. The drinks were good.

We went there for breakfast and coffee. I really enjoyed that it had TV screens showing football matches. It's an accessible place with very kind staff!

Really nice place in terms of view and location and vibe. But food was absolutely not worth its price. The bread with tomato and cheese was basically stone hard with watery tomato goosh and the portions were a joke. Nothing wrong with the coffee but not worth the price. The waiters felt very amateurish and didnt even say anything to us when we came in.

A very nice restaurant with a great athmosphere. We ordered chicken nuggets and a cheeseburger. The fries were very strangely seasoned but very good. I personally liked that they put a lemon in my glass when I ordered a coke. Nice portions and very affordable.

Bonobo Bar is a must-visit! Their cocktails are expertly crafted and absolutely delicious. The food is equally impressive, with a menu that offers something for everyone. But what truly sets Bonobo apart is their staff - they are incredibly friendly, attentive, and make you feel right at home. Highly recommended!

We went to Bonobo with my family and had some cocktails! The signature cocktails were great but some might be a little spesific taste wise! I personally loved most of them as we tried a few! We ordered a platter of meats and cheese and it was amazing so highly recommend!! Server was a little slow but overall it was awesome! Go get your drinks!!

Had coffee and brunch here, nice spot, not too crowded, nice music and decor and good food. They only had one server so it was a little slow but nice people. We had the avocado toast with scrambled eggs and a fruit salad with yogurt. Overall it made for a pleasant morning.

We had to wait for almost an hour to receive only 1 of the 2 drinks we ordered, and for a cold dish which wasn’t served at the same time as the dish for the second person. Both dishes served were different than we ordered. The second drink never arrived, despite our reminders.

We were in this bar earlier in the evening, when we walked past it on our way home they accused us not paying the full bill and made us pay another ten euro, we knew how much we took with us and how much we spent so be very careful most likely a reason that the bar was dead very over priced, seemed like a scam beware just go to the rock bar next door they were amazing. Never go back there if we were short im sure they would of mentioned straight away not 4 hours later considering they had already took our money. AVOID.

It is located on the beach of Rethymno, in the left sight where many coffee shops are next to each other, nice service and music, it has got a romantic atmosphere at night with the light and candles. Nothing special overall

Worst experience of my stay in Crete! Ordered an omlette and an avo toast. Literally took 40 min to bring the food! 40 minutes of my vacation, wasted. For some of us, time is really precious! Not even for a dinner anywhere on the island waited so long ever, in more than 15 restaurants. Then guess what, the avo toast came with Hollandaise sauce on top (not written in the menu). As a lactose-free person, that s the last you want on your food. Plus some people wanna eat simple food, we dont want our food to float in questionnable sauces! I flagged the mistake, I asked what am I supposed to do now, wait another 40 min for another dish? I offered to pay the water and not pay my dish as they admitted the mistake, then I didnt want to pay for my mom s dish either as they completely ruined our meal and wasted our time. But the waiter insisted for me to pay the other dish "as there was no mistake in that" - even if we refused to touch the food at all. We talk about a 10 euro, untouched meal. Rudeness at its finest. Then of course she tried not to issue a receipt from the POS, asking: "why do you need the receipt? You have the transaction on your phone!" I will let other potential customers guess why I wanted the receipt. Hilarious experience!

Cute place to eat Cretan specialties. Fresh and tasty dishes. Ideal to take a break from your tour in Rethymno. One thing we have to say is about the waiter circling around the table to take the finished dishes but maybe it's a cultural difference. The restaurant is in a small place with a little fountain and lemon trees, nice to take a break.

A nicely decorated Cafe with super sweet service, good prices and good portions. A must visit for those with a little free time to stop and relax during their visit to Rethymno Old Town. Really cute little café/bistro!! We came for coffee and stayed for a little snack – the waitress was kind and everything arrived really quickly (the bread was fantastic! First time we saw sourdough bread somewhere on Crete!). The inside as well as the outside are beautiful, you sit beneath lemon trees! :) truly a lovely spot.

We had a waffle and a Crêpe at this place. The waffle was great, you can customize it with the sauces and toppings you want. The crêpe was only okay because its consistency was weird somehow but still tasty with the Nutella. We wanted to have it takeaway but they lured us in to sit down because it would be “much more comfortable”. They insisted and we gave in only to find out they put a service charge on the bill.

The milkshakes and service are Cremeria Vienna in Rethymno, Crete was excellent, very tasty and friendly staff. The toilets were the cleanest around as well. We would highly recommend here.

Cremeria Vienna Rethymno is an absolutely amazing ice cream shop. Located just by the Rethymno Beach, it's a great spot to cool down from the Cretan sun and is very tasty.

Today visited this cocktail bar and was absolutely delighted! The atmosphere is cozy and stylish — the perfect spot for an evening out with friends or a date. But what truly made the experience exceptional was the service. Our waiter was outstanding — attentive, friendly, and incredibly knowledgeable about the menu. He took the time to explain the different cocktails, recommend options based on our preferences. Highly recommend this place, especially for the exceptional service! Today’s shift, which was on until 6 PM, was especially fantastic.

We stopped here for a drink and appetizer. The atmosphere was lively and the starter we had ( prosciutto bruschetta) was good. The only thing that was a negative, was the service. It was terrible. Our waiter would walk by and never look at us. We ordered a second drink (which we had to flag down another waiter for) and they brought mine and not my husband's. He had to go to the hostess and request that they bring, meanwhile, I was almost finished with mine. Needless to say, we didn't stay for a third.

We went here with 9 people in total. We got met by service minded waitors who quickly got us settled at a large table. The interior and exterior give a good vibe for eating a late dinner, and later in the dinner there were music and disco lights which made the mood even better. We ordered many different dishes. The mini burgers were excellent, the tacos are fantastic. The pasta was a bit dry, but yet very tasteful. The steak was perfectly cooked after our wish. Should have a bit of sauce though. We got a complimentary jar of drink during our meal, a nice touch. Toilets were clean and nice and in general the place was very tidy. We loved our stay at this restaurant.

The best cocktails I have had in a long time. Great taste, great prices. The host is absolutely fantastic. It's only a small place but it's definitely worth having a drink or several ( hic). Much better than the hotels.

Loved this little cafe on the seafront. Lovely bolognese pizza and omelette. Finished off with a waffle with fruit and ice cream. Very reasonable for large portions.

My favorite Gyro spot in Rethimno! This place has some of the best authentic Greek food I have had in Crete. The Gyros are to die for and the seasoning they use is traditional. The owner is extremely friendly and nice. He is genuinely happy to see people come and eat his spectacular food. The food is fresh, staff is amazing, and prices are fair! What more could you ask for. I was in town for a wedding and my family all needed something to eat. The owner and his wife made so many Gyros for my family and I to take away and eat. Highlight of our trip! Thank you so much. Everyone eat at this gem.

The friendliest bar in Greece. If you are within a few miles of the place you need to go. The guy who owns it is a superstar. We went a few times and he really looked after us. We'll be going again soon

Stopped here several times, both for drinks and lunch. We were initially attracted by the comfortable seating! but we returned due to the charming owner, great snacks and drinks. He presents you with complentary ouzos when you sit down and further complentary snacks when you have alcoholic drinks. We had lunch here, sandwich was delicious, and they serve great coffee.

Very positive experience. The waiter was super friendly, had a small chat on the beers. Unfortunately my choice was no longer available so I ordered another one. The zombie cocktail was very good, one of their best he said. The Caesars chicken sandwich is a real recommendation, very delicious 4-pieces sandwich with some great French fries on the side so we could share some bites with our little kids. However the kids were bit annoyed because of the heat, the staff remained very calm and easy-going. I recommend this place for its tourist friendly additude and excellent menu.

Maldini was one of the most welcoming people we met, lovely guy, he has an excellent knowledge of the area, and how cocktails should be made. He greets every customer as if they are family. We went 4 times during our holiday as it was such a wonderful place and the cocktails are the best in the area, by far👌.

We had an amazing experience here! The food was absolutely delicious. We ordered the Rib Eye steak and it was cooked to perfection, juicy and full of flavor. The service was impressively quick, and the staff were attentive, friendly, and always smiling, which made the whole evening even more enjoyable. We truly felt well taken care of. I was watching the champion’s league final here and I felt just like home. The owner was really nice and extremely service minded. If you ordered a beer it was on your table within 30 seconds. Before the final I was watching a game from my home country(norway) and he treated me like I was family, bringing beers and chatting I will definitely be returning and having a great time watching sports.

Owner was great at finding our US college football game. We had our own large flat screen TV and he provides a Bluetooth speaker so you can hear the play by play. Wish I could find this back home sometimes! For 15 EU per person, you get your game and two drinks. After that, only 5 EU per drink.

Went here to watch F1. Charges 15 euro per person, which includes 2 drinks. The beers you get are the cheapest available. I understand that the screens and streaming services aren't free but it does feel a little bit too expensive for what you get. Other than that the viewing experience is good. Many screens available for all people to watch different sports at the same time

This is not a place where you buy your drink/food and get to see the game for free. Instead, you pay to see whatever sport/game you like, and get 2 drinks included in your payment. They have about 10-12 TVs and comfortable seats. Before you pay (€15 in 2025), ask the guy for the game you want. Sky Sport and DAZN were showing these games when we went there - English Premiership football, German soccer, US college football, Ryder Cup golf. Best thing about it is that you will get to see the game of your choice.

Convinced this is the only place in Crete if not all of Greece to watch an NFL football game. Payed €15 to watch and get two beers. The owner told us just to come a few minutes before the game started so he could make sure the right games was on. Did not try any of the food looked like a limited selection(should probably eat ahead of time). Definitely a very cool experience worth it 100%. GO BILLS

Fantastic bar with 11 screens. Our hotel called and asked if we could see the GAA. The owner Vagelis organised a huge screen, drinks and personal sound system. Really great place to catch any games when on holiday as Vangelus has access to all worldwide sports.

Absolute dump. Comically bad. As soon as we walked in the waiter/owner demanded 15 euro each which covered 2 drinks. Didn't mind as they had big screens with the football on. Soon as we paid he told us you can only have bottled beer (cheap supermarket brand)or the worst wine you've ever tasted. The place for some weird reason stinks of petrol. AHH yes that would be the motorbike randomly parked by the toilet area. Loads of other nice bars either side which I wish I watched the game in.

We visited a villa nearby in 2022 and loved this place. 3 years later it is just as good. Great beer, great views, great service with friendly staff. We are on day 2 of 14 days here and we will probably be in every day!!

This place claims to offer specialty coffee, but when I asked about the origin of the beans, I didn’t get a clear answer — it felt like even the owner wasn’t sure. They seem to have their own blend, so I ordered a cappuccino, which unfortunately had a sour taste that I really didn’t enjoy. I definitely wouldn’t come back. The café itself is very cozy and nicely decorated, but it was empty and had a rather dull atmosphere.

Small chill place for the coffee. The price is really good for the service and quality. Please be mind that they will charge extra tax for sitting in. So you cannot order take away and sit there. Besides that, we had matcha latte and cafe latte which were really nice. A plus point is they have AC.

This is a small industrial-style coffee shop that roasts their own specialty coffee beans. The interior was quite charming with its large wall of artwork and the layout makes you feel right at home. I had the V60 and tried one of their single origin coffees. It really hit the spot. I also bought a bag of Ethiopian beans to take home with me to brew on my pour over. This place really is a hidden gem for coffee enthusiasts and I can't recommend it enough.

Expensive, but there's no argument it's the best place for premium speciality coffee in Rethymno. I was desperate to track down a flat white somewhere in Rethymno, and this place definitely sated that urge. The place is quite small with limited seating ( most of it is stalls and little high-top tables), but it's clean, vibrant and chic. It's not fast service, but that's fine as the barista took time to make a very good coffee

Great shop for chocolate, goat milk ice cream and classy cake! And the people running the place are adorable! A little off the old city if you’re visiting , but it’s worth the walk to the marina and eat your ice cream on the way back.

The place is not nice, services is also strange, they gave us menu with different prices than in the receipt. A lot of food on the menu they didnt have, and the food is not tasty. As we tried to explain to waiters about prices, they keep saying that they changed the prices in the menu, but it wasnt changed, then they said that they will change the price to the one like it was on the menu, but in the end they still charged us extra 30 cents, it's not a big amount, but still it was not nice to do that.

Mammy's is great. Dine in, take out, or get a delivery. The quality and service are very good, and the pizzas are delicious. The crust is perfectly cooked with real pizza dough and local fresh ingredients on top. It really is one of the best pizza places in Rethymno, probably THE best. We go for the 'Classici' - sweet, fresh, home-grown tomatoes, ham, peppers, and cheese. Can't wait for the next one! Delivery is fast, and its always good value at Mammy's.

In my personal opinion, this is the best place for breakfast in Rethymno. Clean, hygienic and nice customer service. Menus, decor etc all are outstanding. Food was so fresh and nice :) I ordered tuna panini, garlic bread, fruit Juice and coffee. All are fantastic!

Ordered two meals, the bolognese was OK and showed up after 25 minutes, certainly nothing special. The margherita pizza on the other hand never showed up. After returning to the counter several times we were eventually told (after having been there almost an hour) there was an issue with their oven and the pizza wasn't coming, at which point we took a refund and left behind the remainder of the bolognese. There are several other places to eat in the area which have all had better food and better service, I highly recommend trying one of those instead.

Very straightforward and simple place, food is really nice and I definitely recommend eating here, and the prices are very cheap! Only problem is I've ordered food from here many times, and the delivery time is looong (still worth it though). But it's still a great place for eating in or getting takeout, the pancakes and pizza are def worth it, plus the staff were extremely helpful, even with my crazy "make a birthday cake out of pizza" order :D

Absolutely gorgeous food, coffees are strong so go for a cappuccino latte if you want something not as strong. Great service. A great choice to stop for brunch. Highly recommend. As a group ordered salted waffles, eggs Benedict & scrambled egg and avocado. They are happy to modify to needs too. All absolutely delicious.

We stopped by this charming patisserie and were absolutely blown away by the apple pie—it was pure perfection! The crust was golden and buttery, the filling had the perfect balance of sweetness and spice, and the apples were soft yet still had a lovely bite. You can tell it’s made with care and high-quality ingredients. Easily one of the best desserts we've ever had. A must-visit spot for any pastry lover!

On our last night in Rethymno we opted to grab a drink overlooking the lighthouse. Waiter was very attentive and friendly. Drinks we tasty - just not too strong m, great for me but not so much with my husband. View was nice and great to people watch as passersby walked along the streets. Petting the local resident dog was sweet too
