Fraoules is a popular spot in the heart of Rethymnon, offering a lively atmosphere and delicious cocktails, making it a favorite among young people and students. The bar provides stunning views over the Rethymnon Marina, creating an unforgettable experience. It serves as a cafe-restaurant and shisha lounge until late evening, transforming into a nightclub after midnight. With friendly staff and good prices, it's advisable to arrive early or make reservations due to its popularity.
Not gonna lie- this was the best p*nstar martini I’ve had in my entire life! I’m still dreaming about it- the cocktails all were so delicious, perfect for holiday!! The ambience in the bar itself is also really nice and the lighting and all was so cool! So worth a visit!

One of the best places within the whole area 🙌 We were there 3 times during the daytime. Absolutely lovely espresso based coffee, desserts and food itself ❤️ Service is also great, very welcoming and attentive staff. Especially want to highlight the music during the daytime, great choice guys 😉 Looking forward to coming back!

Came out to have brunch and was not disappointed! Food was so good, it had me wondering how I can improve my own cooking! The chicken was both flavorful and moist, with the eggs equally wonderful. Everything we got was great, can't wait to come back next year! 💖

Good place to.be and try pancakes. It is combined place of 3 different bars/restaurant. U can smoke Shisha have some beer or shots and eat good food. Pancakes are amazing. Scrapes were outstanding. Love the entourage. Marcos thx for your recommendations and service. Visited twice ;)

As a Greek from the Peloponnese, I've never seen a place like this....the prices was so good for a place like this, the portions of the food was more than enough, which reminds me of the Real Greek food culture, the people on service was too professional and nice. But mostly I got amazed of the architecture design of the shop. And the taste of the cocktails? 🍸 was on another level... if I had the chance I would have gave you all the stars of the whole sky rather than only 5 stars. Good job guys im proud of you 👏

Delicious strawberry crepe. It was a large portion size. Great for breakfast or dessert. Paid 11 euros for strawberry crepe (6.30€) & flat white coffee (4.70€). Easy to walk to cafe. Service was very attentive. Lots of outdoor seating options.

We sat only to eat dessert and we truly enjoyed their patisserie. Clean place with modern design where one can spot locals chatting while having shisha. The DJ does awesome job mixing classic disco hits of 70 or 80's

Best cappuccino in Crete, and we're always on the hunt for better ones. Got here following a recommendation from a local. Located in the old city, great location. Didn't taste but food looks good.

A great spot for a vacation night out – lively atmosphere all around. Wide variety of food and cocktails, football on TV, a DJ spinning popular hits at the bar, hookah — what more could holidaymakers need? There’s a big cocktail selection — we tried a lemon twist on a Negroni, which was quite tasty. Also had a Greek salad, and everything was at a solid level. Special mention goes to the friendly and attentive service — thank you!

A pleasant place to sit and enjoy a treat. This is the ideal spot, especially if you enjoy people watching.

A hidden gem for breakfast, Cul de Sac is tucked away in a beautiful, quiet alley in Rethymno's Old Town. Their traditional Cretan breakfast is a must-try, featuring thick, creamy Greek yogurt drizzled with local honey, fresh seasonal fruit, and warm, flaky pastries. The freshly squeezed orange juice and rich, aromatic coffee perfectly complement the meal. Service is wonderfully friendly and attentive, making you feel instantly welcome. It's an authentic and utterly delicious start to any day in this charming city.
Dan G — Google review
The food here is amazing. We had the beef tacos, Greek salad, baguette with ham cheese, mayo and fries. The salad came without capers and Olives but it was quickly rectified when mentioned. The cappuccino and flat white were the best we've had on the island (so far). The toilets are pristine too. Nice place in a great location 👍 🌮☕️

Queens Room Club Restaurant is a trendy spot located on the beach promenade, popular among young locals. The place offers a mix of African vibes and Cretan hospitality, creating a unique experience for visitors. The restaurant serves an array of dishes ranging from sushi to Greek and American food, all of which are highly recommended. Additionally, their Mystique cocktails, served every Sunday with secret ingredients, are worth trying.
Absolutely beautiful food, amazing beach front location and the most helpful staff. I would come here everyday if I could. Please try it if your here

We have been in Rethymno for a week and have drunk at queens room every evening we can’t stop coming back! So so beautiful. The staff are so kind and the food is stunning 🤩. BEST restaurant in Rethymno❤️ From a family of 3.
Darcy F — Google review
Beautiful design of the place with a nice garden outside as well as spacious and well decorated area inside. The food is good and the prices are maaybe a little bit higher for the general restaurant prices in in the town but worth it in my opinion. Their service is great as well, you get they are fast professional and polite. They didn't even want to take the tip when we were paying our bill. I recommend giving it at least 2 visit one during the they where you can enjoy the scenery and cool off. Then at night for the party time, they have the perfect space for it.
David B — Google review
We’ve been to Queen several times already and keep coming back – especially for the hookahs! We’ve purchased them three times now. While the flavors can be hit or miss, that’s more due to our adventurous taste than anything else. The tobacco itself is top quality – smooth, clean, and never causes a headache, which is rare to find these days. The cocktail menu is also impressive – creative, well-balanced drinks that pair perfectly with the vibe. And the DJ sets are always on point, setting a great atmosphere without being overwhelming. Highly recommend this place for anyone looking for a chill yet vibrant night out!
Kateryna R — Google review
The atmosphere is great, but the service is zero. We sat for half an hour with empty glasses hoping that at least one waiter would pay attention to us and offer us drinks. But no one came up to us the whole evening! Once during the whole evening a waitress came to us asking to pay for the cocktails, but she didn't even offer to order again. And each time the waiters just walked past the table without paying any attention to us. With such service you will lose all your customers, despite the atmosphere.

The food atmosphere and service were absolutely amazing!! My partner and I thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The decor inside is very nice too. They also have shisha and great cocktails.

Datcu A — Google review
I so wanted to love this place but it left me totally disappointed! We came for my birthday and reserved a table, mentioning what it was for. Despite knowing this, we weren't provided with much service. It started with a nice but very distracted waiter who did apologise initially as he was clearly being pulled in multiple directions. I ordered a drink but my partner was told he couldn't have his cocktail choice, nor a few others on the menu, but maybe later. No explanation for this and very strange. He then asked for a large coke but it only comes in a bottle apparently so that was the end of that. The cocktail I chose was ok, nothing special. We then ordered our starters and mains but my partner asked if he could pay extra to swap his boiled rice to egg fried rice and was told no, this was not possible. In fairness, this should've been enough red flags at this point but as I said, I wanted to love it here. The food was actually very nice when it arrived (we ordered off the Asian menu). Once they had given us our food, we were then totally forgotten about. We were planning on spending the evening here and had 2 friends who came to join us but we still had our plates in front of us for about 45 minutes before I flagged someone for a drinks order. Finally, someone came to take the drinks order and clear our plates and we had 2 strawberry daiquiris (apparently they couldn't be served frozen for some reason, as if shaking some ice into it was so difficult), a beer and another bottle of water. Later, we decided to ask for the bill and book a taxi back to our hotel because, whilst the music was great and the place looked great, the service was shocking and killed the vibe. This was the biggest ordeal ever... They didn't bring the bill or card machine so even our friends were getting annoyed so went to have a word with someone. One of the waiters then told us they were having a problem with their system and to bear with them. I explained we have a taxi due in 5 minutes because they already took so long and his solution was "cancel it and order another"! I was fuming at this point because they've already spoilt our night we were looking forward to, they have been slow and inattentive all night, and they now expect us to inconvenience both ourselves, our friends AND the taxi for their problem. A few times we were told we would need to stay and wait. I said we wouldn't be staying as we want to go and they need to figure out a way for us to pay. There was not even an apology or an offer of a complimentary drink or anything to try and get us to wait. Just to sit there in hope that their systems revive themselves. They got the manager in the end and she showed me that her order device didn't have the breakdown of our bill so tried to get us to pay which is what we wanted initially so I now didn't trust what I was being told. I checked what the bill should've been against the menu only because of other poor reviews I've read online about their bills. It was about right so we paid by card but they seemed irritated with us and it ended on a sour note when I actually wish they had just delivered a good service then we would've been there all night, spent a lot of money with them, and this could all have been avoided. It's also worth noting that my partner went to the toilets whilst we were there and said they were disgusting. The stars are simply because our food was nice, the music was nice and it's a good looking venue. It's a real shame.

Lux Cafe is a unique and luxurious venue located in a stunning Venetian building. During the day, guests can enjoy coffee and delicious desserts while taking in the fantastic seafront location. The menu offers a variety of dishes including sushi, pasta, salads, and fish, all of which are described as very tasty. As night falls, the outdoor seating area comes alive with ambient lighting before transforming into a lively nightclub after 10 pm with a live DJ spinning great tunes.
Poke Bowl, Peperoni Pizza, Burrito, Chiken Pasta and the vegan burger were great. Music very diverse. Recommend

Breakfast visit, so nice and quiet. Shown to seat quickly. Meals not served together but not a massive problem...about 5 minute difference between first and final. All food lovely...we had energy boost yoghurt, praline pancakes, scrambled egg and bacon, and special omelette. All very filling and tasty. 50 euros for 4 breakfasts, 3 coffees and a cola plus free Bottled water. Good value. Recommend.

Lovely spot right on the beach, we had praline pancakes, mushroom avocado omelet, and sunny side up toast. The owner is so hands-on and gracious, the staff is very friendly and professional. Definitely worth a visit for brunch lunch or dinner.
Shenaz M — Google review
The cocktails don’t contain much alcohol, so we ordered strong shisha and it was very light, not comparable with strong. However, the music, dj, atmosphere was great.
Shushan H — Google review
While it usually seems difficult to find good restaurants in touristy places, this one was a pleasant surprise in many regards. Very friendly staff, extremely broad selection of food (from Sushi to Mexican, Burgers, Salads, Pizza, Pasta, you name it), and the prices were very reasonable. We enjoyed our lunch very much.
Alex L — Google review
The food was good, but the service wasn't. The food took really long to come to the table. We were a group of twelve people and they brought us the food right when it was ready so we had to watch our friends eating while we were still waiting for our food. Right after the first people finished the waiters came to clean up the table while the others were still eating. One friend of mine had to wait for his food for over an hour. When it arrived he noticed that he got the wrong sushi. Also they brought us the bill right after we ordered. The music in the restaurant was really loud so you could not talk to your friends. There was also some bright light that bothered us. There where underaged people, maybe twelve or thirteen years old, who were smoking cigarettes and e-shisha. In the bathroom there weren't any toiletseats. In the men's bathroom you couldn't lock the cabins and you could look through the doors. The sink was really dirty.
Annika S — Google review
Initially we were intrigued by the sign “Mexican Sushi” and were disappointed that it wasn’t a fusion restaurant. Normally I wouldn’t trust a place that serves Mexican, Japanese and Mediterranean food and actually has three different menus. However…. In this case the chef managed to nail all three styles and all were very good! We really enjoyed the food and the staff was very friendly. The final positive surprises were at the end, the desserts were great (not small so save some space) and the bill was very friendly too!
Frans F — Google review
We walked down the promenade and saw a card with "Sushi" - so we had to take a glimpse! The Lux Restaurant does have a seasonal Asian Sushi Maker and it was SO delicious! The waitresses were super friendly and attentive. The desert was very delicious as well!

Avli rustic fine dining restaurant is a renowned establishment that has been serving modern Cretan cuisine for over 30 years. Housed in a beautiful 16th-century Cretan-Venetian mansion, the restaurant offers an elegant interior and a charming courtyard. It also boasts a famous Winery with an impressive selection of Greek wines. The restaurant's breakfast menu features traditional Cretan dishes made with fresh local produce, catering to various palates and ages.
My husband and I came here for lunch and were truly impressed. Tucked in a peaceful courtyard in Rethymno’s Old Town, this gem serves creative dishes with a local twist. Fresh ingredients, unique flavors, and a relaxed, intimate vibe, a perfect spot for a memorable meal. Thank you!
Maya N — Google review
Came here for dinner and the restaurant is beautiful, the service was great and the cocktails were ok, although the old fashioned was extremely sweet. Sadly the food was a bit disappointing. The prices here are quite a bit higher than at other restaurants in the area and it's trying very hard to be fancy fine dining with very small portions using things like foams etc., which is fine, and I don't mind paying for fine dining if the food is good, but for us the food here just wasn't very good. The shrimp entree was pretty good and was the best dish we had. The ravioli was quite bland with a foamy sauce that didn't have much flavor. The mussels and octopus dish was served completely cold and the combination of flavors and the green sauce just didn't work together and it wasn't enjoyable. Overall the ambience here is great and it's a really nice little courtyard to have a meal, but sadly the quality of the food just doesn't match the high prices at all.
H — Google review
My second best restaurant in Rethymno is Avli, more Cretan cuisine with zest of contemporary methods. Very fresh and will not disappoint savvy foodies and those who are looking for a super dinner in the centre of Rethymno town. Very romantic, sat in a traditional courtyard with trees and flowers surrounding ancient authentic walls. Wine list is great and also the sommelier knows how to help you decide with goes best with your order. Not very economical but portions are quite generous. The staff is lovely and here too we came twice! Many restaurants in Rethymno looks like a tourist trap, this one definitely not and yet you have a romantic instgrammable backdrop to please everyone.
Ahmad A — Google review
Quite high standard of the dishes, both in creativity and plating for a resort town like Rethymno. It actually measures up to fine dining, including service and staff being knowledgeable of vines and oils. Good flavours and balanced wine pairings. Very nice to find a tasting menu with smaller portions so that we can experience more flavours at dinner. I am giving 4 stars for food because some of the dishes could really use some salt to take the dish to an even higher level. Otherwise very nice, probably the nicest place to eat in Rethymno.
Alexandra B — Google review
Wandering through the streets of Old Town we were in search of a place to have some unique cocktails and maybe something to eat. We ordered the Mastic Mist and another cocktail I can't remember the name of (starts with an E). They were by far the BEST drinks we have ever had. Well balanced, unique in taste and surprising, not what you would expect from a traditional blend of extracts, spices and spirits. Hope to be back to Rethymnon and experience Avli like it deserves.
Stefana C — Google review
We had a wonderful tasting-menu dinner at Avli in Rethymno. The six-course menu was creative and consistently refined — every dish felt thoughtful and beautifully executed. A particularly memorable feature was the olive-oil pairing served with each course: it was a clever, distinctive idea and truly shone at dessert, where the olive oil was an unexpected highlight. The wine pairing was exceptional and matched the food beautifully; the sommelier clearly knows his craft. We sat in the courtyard, which provided a lovely, relaxed setting for the meal. Service was professional overall — very friendly and knowledgeable — though the staff member who cleared the plates was a bit less attentive than the rest, but it did not detract from the evening. Pricing felt fair for the quality: the six-course menu came in at around €80–90 (fish course extra) and the wine pairing was about €34, which we thought was very reasonable given the selection and pairing quality. All in all, Avli delivered an elegant, memorable dining experience — highly recommended for anyone looking for creative, well-paired tasting menus in Rethymno.
Lissy M — Google review
A Hidden Culinary Gem in the Heart of Rethymno 🌿🍷 Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Dining at Avli is like stepping into a romantic Cretan courtyard from another time. Nestled in the old town of Rethymno, the rustic charm of the space, surrounded by flowers, vines, and historic stone walls, creates an atmosphere that is both intimate and enchanting. The menu stands out from the typical tourist spots – it’s Greek cuisine with a creative twist. Every dish surprises you with unique combinations, beautiful presentation, and bold flavors. It’s a place for those who enjoy exploring new tastes and high-quality local ingredients. Whether it’s a refreshing cocktail under the bougainvillaea or a perfectly grilled octopus with sweet potato purée, Avli delights all senses. The staff is knowledgeable and welcoming, which adds even more to the experience. 💡 If you love food and aesthetics, this is a must-visit. It’s perfect for a romantic lunch, a peaceful escape from the busy streets, or a memorable dinner. Pro tip: Be open to flavor – this is not your average taverna. Come ready to explore.

Rimondi Fountain, constructed in 1626 by the Venetian governor Rimondi, is a prominent public fountain in Rethymno. It features Corinthian columns and lion-head spouts that supplied the town with water from Mt Vrysinas. Situated in the Old Town, it stands alongside other notable landmarks such as the Fortezza, Loggia, and Porta Guora.
Lovely little old town with a good mix of new and old shops/restaurants. The people are lovely and cafés so welcoming. Prices are pretty much ok and there is always a good varied menu. Enjoy driving, it is one hell of an experience, if you live in Paris or Rome, you'll have no problem 🤣

We had coffee & a great late breakfast in the cafe just next to it. Lovely.
Maria B — Google review
The attraction is free to visit. Keep in mind that the fountain is located in a passageway surrounded by many restaurants and shops. Consequently, it gets quite crowded, and you might have to wait a while to take a photo without people in it. I recommend stopping by if you're already in the city or if you're an architecture enthusiast, but I wouldn't make a special trip just for this from the other side of the island.

It a nice fountain to visit but it’s not easy to find, it felt like it was hidden a bit. Cafes and taverns are all around it so if you expect a big fountain in the middle of the square then you’ll be disappointed. It’s worth to visit though just a quick selfie and then head to the next stop

A beautiful mix of old and new in Rethymno. The fountain blends perfectly with the modern restaurants, and the small square is a lovely stop with plenty of shops and tavernas. Highly recommended!

It is quite hidden to find at first but has the beautiful garden to have a nice view while eating your lunch or dinner. Because it is outside so I recommend to come for dinner after sunset for the most comfortable feeling. During lunch time, it is quite hot. We ordered Rooster and Traditional Cretan pasta skioufihta. Both are really good. The food definitely is out of our expectation in the better way. The staff is helpful and caring enough.

The atmosphere is great; the restaurant is located in a quiet back garden, making it very quiet. The garden is also beautifully decorated. The food is good and average, nothing special. The service staff didn't seem very motivated, which was a shame. I think there's definitely still a lot of potential for improvement in the service department.

Im out of words. My insights have reborned after the lunch we had at this place. Everything tasted ultra fresh and chemical free. Overall perfect experience. Service stuff and the chef created an amazing environment. The food is mouthwatering, the service stuff exceptionally kind and knowledgeable.

Ali Vafi’s Garden is a beautiful spot in the heart of Rethymno’s Old Town where you can finally escape the busy streets and relax in a truly elegant setting. The garden itself is charming — lush greenery, atmospheric lighting, and a sense of calm that feels a world away from the crowds. They serve some of the better beers and well-made cocktails in town, perfect for a quiet evening out. We’ve had food here in the past — while I can’t recall every detail, it was definitely good and never disappointing. If you’re looking for a place with class, a relaxed vibe, and quality drinks, Ali Vafi’s Garden is absolutely worth a visit.

Atmosphere was very nice, quiet with an internal terrace. That was for the good part. (That’s the 2 stars) Service was excruciatingly slow and poor. For a salad and couple of sides, we had to wait over 30 minutes. Same for our coffees, although ordered as soon as we arrived, took 20 minutes to come. Not particularly pleasant experience with the server. Regarding the food , well, it’s the first and only time we went to a greek restaurant that had no tomatoes, which automatically removed a lot of options from the menu (special mention to the comment when asked if there was a possible replacement of the tomato by something in the same dish “what’s the point?”. Additionally this was only mentioned to us after ordered rather than when giving us the menu. Taking into account the wait time between visits from the service, it made the whole sitting a painfully slow experience. Food was relatively pleasant, but nothing special or extraordinary. The only part that went fast was for getting the bill, which was overpriced for the quality of the experience. Every other place we went to during our trip (over 10) was better. I personally would only come back for a talk around a coffee for a slow morning or afternoon, definitely would not recommend if you’re only there for a day or two.

Nothing to do with Crete. Very tired waiters waiting for the season to end. Even they tried their best to be nice and polite. A mutated Greek salad with capers a salty to death feta cheese. Greek salad with cherry tomatoes and normal tomatoes. No paprika no olives . Supposed pickled onions that you had to dig in it to find them. No salt and pepper in the tables No olive oil. The waiter was coming with an almost empty bottle of olive oil to drop it in what we had ordered. Waited 45 minutes for my plate when the place was not so busy when all the rest of the table was eating and since it took so long I thought would be something special . It reminded everything but not a Rooster and the mashed potato was far from a mashed potato. 4 stars only for the service since they really looked tired and they did all their best to be gentle and polite. After all was not a nice experience and didn't remind a cretan Hospitality.

History Museums
Nestled in the heart of Rethymnon, the Archaeological Museum of Rethymnon is a treasure trove for history enthusiasts. Established in 1887 and housed within a former soap factory, this museum showcases an impressive array of artifacts that span from the Late Neolithic to the late Roman period. Visitors can marvel at pottery, tools, jewelry, and marble statues that reflect life in ancient Crete.
Beautiful antiquities well arranged for viewing. Most items are from Crete. Beautiful displays of marble statues, jewelry, tools, ceramics, frescos, and ancient bath tubs to name just some of the pieces on display. It’s well worth the visit. It only takes about 30-60 minutes to walk through depending on how much you want to read.
Anne R — Google review
A small, one room museum with many interesting artifacts nicely on display. The entrance fee is very cheap (5€) and it has a little bit of everything. Takes roughly 30-45mins max to get through. I recommend checking it out if you’re in the area :)
Themis T — Google review
A small but powerful look into the large collection of the Rethymno museum. The museum is temporarily housed in this impressive and well preserved building waiting for the new larger museum to be built in the near future. Until then you can browse through the collection’s highlights and get a concise reminder on the historical timeline of Crete’s culture.

Nice small local museum. Great to learn about the history of the area. Staff was kind and cashier informed us that under 25 get in free, which we were not aware of before coming. We also got free cards.

This compact and well-kept museum is situated in the heart of Rethymno, and constitutes an oasis of calm among the throngs of tourists. The exhibits are fascinating and complemented by informative descriptions. Even representatives of the local feline community appeared interested! Staff members were impeccably polite and helpful. Dedicate an hour or two to visiting.

Very good albeit small museum with a lot of history inside. It highlights the story of the region from the early ages and most recent findings. There is literally a single room but one that takes easily 30min to enjoy. Nice staff welcome you and can provide you useful guidance. There is an entry fee but seems reasonable...

Small but beautiful collection with nice explanations. Definitely worth the visit if you are interested in history and/or mythology! I took the time to read everything and look at each case for a bit and it took me about an hour to walk through the exhibition. Time and money well spent!

Bonobo Bar is a laid-back spot with panoramic sea views, offering smooth cocktails and coffee with complimentary cake. The place has a vibey atmosphere with cool music and friendly staff. They offer signature concoctions and special pairings of food and cocktails. It's a nice spot for brunch, offering good food, pleasant ambiance, and beachfront seating. The bar also provides excellent hospitality, allowing customers to request custom cocktails or even "mix yourself" options.
A stylish cocktail bar with nice view and pleasent music in normal volume. Good cocktails, 10-13€ , a bit too much ice.
Lopopo — Google review
Bonobo Bar is a must-visit! Their cocktails are expertly crafted and absolutely delicious. The food is equally impressive, with a menu that offers something for everyone. But what truly sets Bonobo apart is their staff - they are incredibly friendly, attentive, and make you feel right at home. Highly recommended!

We went to Bonobo with my family and had some cocktails! The signature cocktails were great but some might be a little spesific taste wise! I personally loved most of them as we tried a few! We ordered a platter of meats and cheese and it was amazing so highly recommend!! Server was a little slow but overall it was awesome! Go get your drinks!!

Had coffee and brunch here, nice spot, not too crowded, nice music and decor and good food. They only had one server so it was a little slow but nice people. We had the avocado toast with scrambled eggs and a fruit salad with yogurt. Overall it made for a pleasant morning.
Tehmina B — Google review
We had to wait for almost an hour to receive only 1 of the 2 drinks we ordered, and for a cold dish which wasn’t served at the same time as the dish for the second person. Both dishes served were different than we ordered. The second drink never arrived, despite our reminders.
Paul — Google review
We were in this bar earlier in the evening, when we walked past it on our way home they accused us not paying the full bill and made us pay another ten euro, we knew how much we took with us and how much we spent so be very careful most likely a reason that the bar was dead very over priced, seemed like a scam beware just go to the rock bar next door they were amazing. Never go back there if we were short im sure they would of mentioned straight away not 4 hours later considering they had already took our money. AVOID.

Chaplins is a popular spot for coffee and rock music enthusiasts. The service is quick, the atmosphere is great, and the friendly barista serves up excellent coffee with a view of the sea. It's a favorite among rockers, with super-friendly waitstaff and reasonable prices. Happy hour from 7:00-8:00 offers half-priced drinks without compromising on quality or alcohol content. While the toilets may not be top-notch, overall prices are still reasonable even outside of happy hour.
Great rock vibe at Chaplins Rock Bar! Chaplins is the perfect place if you’re into real rock music, good drinks, and a laid-back atmosphere. The playlist was full of rock classics and cool surprises — and sometimes they even have live music, which gives the bar an extra special energy! The staff was super friendly and fun, and the prices for the drinks were very fair. The whole bar has this authentic rock spirit, where you feel welcome whether you come to relax, enjoy the music, or meet people. What I really loved: the mix of locals and tourists all enjoying the night together, and the fact that the music is always at the center — no matter if it’s from the speakers or live on stage. If you’re in Crete and want a true rock bar experience, definitely check out Chaplins. You won’t regret it. See you next year guys!

A well-located club on the Rethymno waterfront in the nightlife area, it is a temple for true rock fans; attentive service, well-tapped beers and reasonable prices are accompanied by a fantastic soundtrack of mainly 70s and 80s rock tunes, among other things at a reasonable volume

Antika Irish Bar, previously known as The Punch Bowl, is a charming and quirky hideaway located in the historic district. The pub is renowned for its extensive collection of Irish memorabilia adorning the walls and floors, including unique items like antique gramophones and oversized leather sandals. With fast and friendly service, a diverse selection of alcohol ranging from craft beer to scotch, and an eclectic mix of rock music playing in the background, this funky spot offers a hipster vibe.
The place for cretan-brewed craft beers. Great music and full of interesting memorabilia. Also my daughter was delighted that there's toiletries in the women's bathroom - something that you don't see very often.

Antika is exactly the kind of Irish pub you hope to stumble into when you’re in a new place. They’ve got a great selection of local beers tons of variety, and everything we tried was top-notch. The vibe is super welcoming, and the staff goes above and beyond. Special shoutout to Nikos he gave us amazing recommendations for spots around town and honestly ended up feeling more like a friend than someone just serving us. If you’re anywhere nearby, do yourself a favor and pop in. You won’t want to leave.

We were in the area for a week and were always welcomed here , great atmosphere, friendly staff and a good Guinness too
Neil W — Google review
We went there for a Guinness, as my wife and I go to an Irish Bar every where we travel to. It was expensive, and I didn’t see the itemized bill, my error. But still expensive. The tall guy behind the bar was degrading towards the other employees, think he thought he was being funny, but wasn’t. My wife likes a lighter beer, which he found to be ridiculous, served her a beer which she hated, so I switched with her. I have an allergy to dirt and dust, when we left I had broken out in hives all over my forearms. Guinness isn’t widely served in Greece, so our options were limited. Be there done that, we will not return

Bar
Fortezza Lighthouse Bar, located in the vibrant city of Rethymno, is a popular spot for both locals and tourists looking to enjoy a lively nightlife experience. This exclusive bar-club offers an energetic atmosphere with Greek and international music that keeps the party going until the early hours, particularly on weekends. With theme nights, live shows, and talented DJs, Fortezza Lighthouse Bar provides an exciting destination for those seeking vibrant entertainment in Rethymno.
Food was ok, calamari was nice. Pork flavours were nice but meat a bit chewy. Some of the chips weren’t cooked well. Friendly service but also asked for a couple more drinks that never came. It’s a relaxed service as much of Crete seems to be so it’s a while between courses etc. but lovely setting infront of the harbour. Great plus is that it has a kids play area indoors so you know they’re safe and can relax a bit more.
Leon D — Google review
They have multiple options for fish, but I wouldn’t say that the fish is well prepared. I had better tries elsewhere. Overpriced place, I wouldn’t go back again. But the service was good.
Shushan H — Google review
They were pushy to order us some drinks and food so we just had a drink there because we were actually looking for a chill place to have a drink with our little twins. The waiters were very helpful when the kids dropped something that got stuck between the chair. But it took some time before we could get the bill (did they want to keep us there to attract other customers or have us order some more?). We didn't eat something so we can't review the food quality or service.
Tom H — Google review
One waiter was very nice and helpful, but the short big guy with shaven head is miserable, rude and argumentative! The Greek coffee tasted of detergent/soap, I have had many Greek coffees in Crete that have not tasted like this and he insisted it does! I said “what soapy?” He said “yes, I drink it all the time” he just does not listen, terrible service! The nice waiter said, I would not drink Greek coffee from here as we don’t make it properly, we use a machine, I think the machine had just been washed hence the detergent taste that the other waiter would not believe. We ordered one garlic bread, were served two portions on one plate, sneaky up selling I think, so got that removed from the bill and the Greek coffee removed they left on, advise you thoroughly check your bill before paying. The wrong wine was served, we wanted a dry white, got a mid sweet wine, which the waiter forgot to get. The food is seriously expensive! There is better cheaper in Rethymno. Then to add to the experience, once our £57 per portion of fish was served a waiter mopped the floor around our table with a strong bleach mix mop and bucket, literally round our table and feet! Once you are sat near the marina they shout over your table to attract others in, literally by your table like you are not there, the atmosphere was awful. I recommend going into the old town rather than this commercial, expensive place. On the good side the food was very nice, but too many faults overall which ruined the meal for us, one glass of wine, two courses £160+. Won’t go here again…..
Alex — Google review
Terrible service, would not go there again. After they insist and invite you to their tables, if you do not order food (we ordered just drinks) they ask you to change the table you are sitting at. Basically being asked to sit more in the back like a second class citizen. We complied while the table we initially chose sat empty during our stay. I forgot to mention that it was not a busy hour , plenty of free tables everywhere. Don't ruin your Holiday with these people... It's not worth it...
Petraru A — Google review
While I did not eat there and cannot vouch for the food I would recommend it for drinks, I paid the average price for two cocktails (9.50€ each) which were lovely. The man who advertises on the path is absolutely lovely and recognised and spoke to me multiple days in a row and I did not find him to be pushy about me sitting down which I do find some places to be in the main food street. I will say it was rather confusing as to who was a server as they were all dressed in plain clothes, I sat there for about an hour and a half and recieved no complaint or pressure considering I had only gotten drinks and while the other waiters were more difficult to track down again, the main advertiser, was super lovely and super friendly whenever I indicated I needed something. They were super busy when I was there so the staff may have been better at a quieter time or if you're in a group. Overall I had a lovely view of the harbour in a peaceful spot with friendly staff. At one point a group of boys did stop by and played two songs on the accordion accompanied by a tambourine and drum, even if they were there for money I didn't feel pressured to give any and it was a lovely moment. There is no price for peace like that.

AVOID. This restaurant operates under multiple names , Sol Dino , fortezza cafe and fortezza lighthouse bar. As others have said in the reviews it is a tourist trap. We arrived from the alleyway approaching Achinos restaurant. A friendly man greeted us , and we thought we were being seated at achinos , but instead were seated at his restaurant across from achinos , called fortezza. He was very friendly and welcoming so we didn’t mind eating here instead at first. We were seated at the front of the restaurant with views of the harbour. First he offered a seafood special which was not included in the menu, which I’m glad we didn’t order as people have mentioned you get charged for each individual item on the plate. I ordered a salmon and the rest of my group ordered risotto. The food was okay, but very overpriced compared to other places. We ordered red wine which was very weak and looked and tasted like ribena. The whole evening we could barely hear what eachother were saying as the restaurant owner stood next to us the entire time loudly trying to entice the next group into his restaurant. While eating we looked up the reviews and realised why this place has 1 star. Funnily enough the owner was shouting 5 stars 5 stars to each group that walked past ! Once finished with our food , it took ages to get staff over to order more drinks , so we decided to get the bill and leave, which we had to pay cash for. This restaurant is a tourist trap, overpriced for what it’s worth and only care about potential customers/money rather than the customers already seated. If you want better service and food , and a more relaxing experience go elsewhere.
M H — Google review
We've been attracted to this place for dinner due to kids playground, so accepted the invitation, but the general conclusion is that portion are small, and prices higher compared with almost all other restaurants and there is nothing special in the food taste or quality here, but overall was ok, however will not come back second time as there are plenty of other better restaurants in Rethymno.

Rimondi Boutique Hotels is an elegant accommodation option located in the heart of Rethymnon's Old Town. The hotel consists of three distinct buildings: Palazzo Rimondi, Rimondi Estate, and Rimondi Residences, each offering a unique experience. Guests can enjoy the spa, rooftop terrace, and two courtyard pools while savoring complimentary breakfast at this upscale establishment.
A highlight of our trip! This hotel exceeded our already high expectations. Great location in old town on a narrow street (no car traffic allowed). Steps away from countless great restaurants and yet extremely quiet and peaceful. A lovely little oasis! Staff was warm and friendly and helpful. Breakfast was included with our room and was lavish. A wide selection of sweet and savory - eggs, bacon, savory tarts, meats and cheeses, fruits, breads, cakes, cereal, yogurt, etc - all all the fixings - jams, jellies, honey, raisins, nuts. Cooked to order also available, though I preferred to sample what they had prepared. All was fresh and delicious. Room was spacious and comfortable. Two small pools with seating areas, enclosed in courtyards with ivy-covered walls. Five minute walk (max) to a nice little supermarket if you need incidentals. Our room had a small private courtyard with jacuzzi which we used most evenings of our 5 night stay. During our whole 3 wks in Greece we managed to find really outstanding little hotels but this one was our favorite. Really topnotch and very highly recommended. We would seek this one out again if we were to revisit Rethymno. The only downside was the room could use an extra electrical outlet at each bedside.

We stayed at two rooms - a family of four - one on each side of the hotel. The Estate room (no 2) with pool view has a lot of personality and is highly recommended. The other room was also nice though. The staff are very attentive and smiling - at the breakfast, by the pool, the cleaners or the reception that helps with really good sightseeing advice. The hotel has a romantic and historic atmosphere and sits quite perfectly located to enjoy old town Rethymnon.

Honestly, this did not feel like a 4-star hotel experience. Our first room was so noisy that we had to change to another one. Unfortunately, the second room had a strong smell of mold and an electric cabinet with a door that wouldn’t close, which was both a safety risk and a constant source of noise. Be aware that unfortunately the WiFi is terrible and cuts out every 5 seconds. The hotel itself looks very pretty from the outside, but overall it was not a pleasant stay indide it for me and my family. The staff were very kind and truly did their best, but I cannot understand the prestige or the high price of this hotel, as it did not match the experience we had.

We had a lovely, relaxing stay at Rimondi boutique hotel. Beautifully appointed rooms but the highlight for us was breakfast each morning and Evangilia's warm smiling welcome; it felt like being "home" to have her greet us each day, she provided advice on things to do/see and always asked about our previous day. The pool area is like a piece of paradise. The location is within a 5 minute walk to everything. My only suggestion is to install quiet close mechanisms on the doors (the doors tend to slam and some guests are not considerate). Otherwise a wonderful choice.
Lee K — Google review
A fabulous hotel in the heart of the old town. It was everything we wanted from our three nights exploring the area. The two pools are wonderful and such a plus point especially when you have children and you all need to cool off. The bar areas were great as were the breakfasts. The staff were also brilliant. So helpful and so welcoming to us all. Very good with children. It has a great vibe and we would return. The only thing marking it down to a 4 with the room was there wasn’t adequate storage in the room for a family of four. We didn’t complain at all but would book a larger family room next time. Thank you to everyone for making our first visit to Crete so memorable!

The Cressa Suites team was amazing. They went above and beyond to help make sure our visit went smoothly. The morning breakfast baskets were delicious and so thoughtful. I stayed at this hotel for one night during what was supposed to be a special and peaceful getaway—my baby moon. I am 7 months pregnant, and unfortunately, this turned out to be the worst hotel experience of my life. When we arrived, we discovered that the air conditioner was leaking water. The room was flooded. When we informed the staff, their only solution was to give us a few towels to deal with it ourselves. To make matters worse, there was a constant loud noise coming from the bathroom that lasted the entire night. We reported it in the afternoon, but no one offered a real solution. We couldn’t sleep at all. At midnight, we were even told to try to sleep somewhere else—but every hotel in the area was fully booked. In total desperation, I considered sleeping outside on the terrace, but even there the noise was unbearable. We filed a complaint and have received no response from the manager. When I called to follow up, the receptionist told me—word for word—“It only cost you €90, it’s nothing, I don’t understand why you’re complaining.” This level of disrespect and lack of empathy is unacceptable, especially toward a pregnant woman and her husband who couldn’t get a single hour of rest due to serious issues that should have never occurred. I strongly advise against staying at this hotel. It was a complete nightmare. It is a pitty that I cant share videos.

The worst experience of my life!! Decent service but the room was a disaster. We couldn’t sleep because of the noise from the ventilation system. The hotel is well located and the staff is friendly, but the rooms have very serious noise and insulation issues. I don’t understand all the positive reviews. The staff doesn’t care and the manager is nowhere to be found! There are plenty of other options on the same street where we had perfect nights.

Breakfast was great, freshly made every morning, so much food and all delicious! It was a very amazing stay and would very much recommend!

We stayed here for a week and really loved it! The rooms are clean and modern and, unless you book the lowest category, they're very spacious and with nice features such as patio/jacuzzi. The AC worked great, as well as the rest of the facilities. Housekeeping did a great job throughout our stay and we were never bothered by any loud noise or unexpected inconveniences. One of the best assets this tiny hotel has is the staff. The girl at reception was always incredibly helpful and kind, going the extra mile with any request or question we'd have. Nestled in the charming old town of Rethymno, Castelo Restaurant offers a delightful dining experience with its modern twist on traditional Cretan cuisine. The restaurant's beautifully decorated space exudes a timeless charm, surrounded by historic buildings and adorned with greenery and stone. The attentive and professional staff ensure a pleasant dining experience, accommodating special dietary needs with customized dishes.
Very nice restaurant! We felt welcomed, and the staff was really nice / talkative. Everyone made sure we had the best experience. Even though it was crowded, not once did we feel rushed to finish our meal & go - this is something we’ve experienced in some other restaurants in Rethymno. Overall 5 star rating, don’t miss out on Castelo when in Crete!
Knjigatron — Google review
We went to Castello and had the oxtail with gnocchi and a fillet steak. The steak was pretty average (though beautifully presented), while the oxtail was really tasty. The location and ambiance were great, right in the heart of the old town with all the those old-town vibes. Service was as you’d expect. It’s definitely not a tourist trap, but I’d say they focus more on presentation and atmosphere than on standout food, especially given the price point. Still, we had a lovely evening and don’t regret it!

A good place to experience high end dining with reasonable prices. Recommend the veal chop and pork tenderloin for main course. Also a good list of high quality wines yo choose from. Owner is very friendly and hostipable. Despite going in rush hour, service was very fast

Castelo Restaurant offers a wonderful mix of traditional Greek cuisine with a modern twist. We tried several starters and main courses — all were absolutely delicious. The local white wine paired perfectly with every dish, and the dessert, an apple crumble, was outstanding. Be prepared — the portions are generous!

Went a couple of times, the second I reserved a seat inside of the Saturday night for a special night out. It was well worth it. The food, service and atmosphere was amazing. I was incredibly well looked after. A great place for a meal or something special.

This restaurant is located in the heart of old town,so if you are planning to pay them a visit just bare in mind that u need to park ur car in one of the old towns' parkings and walk to the restaurant (closest parking 5-7 minutes away) Make a reservation prior to ur arrival especially if u are visiting them on a weekend! Food is decent and representation is fancy, nice place for a special night perhaps! Inside is very pretty, I recommend you to sit inside! After we finished our dinner, we were given dessert and liquire on the house!

I recommend this restaurant to anyone in Rethymno. The food is delicious and extremely varied. A highlight are the various terraces, or rather floors, where you can eat. We were lucky and were able to eat right at the top, on the rooftop. The service was excellent, and the staff are all extremely friendly. We'll definitely go again.
Simriel — Google review
Thank you for a wonderful dinner! We did not have a reservation, but they tried to find us a table and we had a delicious dinner, with a starter of falafel and octopus, followed by a main of fish and seafood saganaki. The service was 5 stars, with everyone very attentive and helpful. And the food was not only beautifully presented, but very delicious.

Lemonokipos Restaurant, named after the lemon garden it's nestled in, has been a staple in Rethymnon since 2000. It offers a blend of traditional and modern Greek and Cretan cuisine, sourcing fresh local ingredients daily. Housed in an old Venetian mansion with a century-old history, the restaurant boasts a charming courtyard adorned with lemon trees. The garden setting provides a delightful ambiance for enjoying coffee or indulging in their renowned lemon tart.
We absolutely loved it! Spending the days here with my best friend here and we stumbled across this restaurant. It was such a wonderful experience! The food was great, the staff was lovely and the atmosphere just stunning! If we’ll return to Crete again, we will definitely come back.
Sophie V — Google review
Charming restaurant that you can access from one of the quaint side streets or directly from the square. We stopped after meandering the old town for several hours for a drink. I sat down and said to my friend "I'd like a lemonade" and there were 2 on the menu but neither was available. However, two special lemonades were available, one with lavender and one with rose. Both delicious and refreshing.
Daz W — Google review
By far the best food we had on Crete – highly recommended! Absolutely fantastic experience at Lemonokipos! The service was warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. The food was honestly outstanding – I’ve never had grilled calamari this tender and flavorful, and the octopus was just as impressive. The setting under the old plane trees is beautiful and adds to the authentic Greek atmosphere. If it didn’t take us 1.5 hours to get there, I would seriously eat here every single day.
Jens Z — Google review
I had heard about their famous lemon tart and stopped by to sample it. Wow! It could well be the best lemon meringue tart/pie I've ever had (and I've tried many). The friendly manager/owner recommended a glass of wine to go with it and it was a perfect duo. The courtyard setting under the trees is lovely too.

The atmosphere was lovely and the service was nice. However we ordered fish of the day and it was incredibly pricy for the portion. Also for the 3 pieces of vegetables we did get - they felt frozen. The small amount of the fish was tasty.

Veneto Boutique Hotel is a charming accommodation located in the heart of Rethymnon's old town, housed in a beautifully restored 14th-century Venetian building. The hotel offers boutique furnishings that complement the historic architecture and original features. Guests can enjoy traditional Cretan cuisine prepared by local chefs at the celebrated restaurant, which boasts an extensive wine cellar.
It’s a shame I’m only allowed 5 stars for this, because it’s off the scale. The rooms are quite extraordinary, with thick stone walls and with everything you need to enjoy your stay. The staff are just incredible, going out of their way to help on any way they can. The restaurant… eat here. Just do it and tell me I’m wrong later. The food defies superlatives and the service is simply the best. If you want a drunken, leery nightlife, then stay away. Even at peak times this town is soooo chill. Busy, but never rowdy.
Steve J — Google review
Room is spacious but ironically, the shower cubicle is tiny. The interior finishing needs to be updated as they are visibly old. Not 'old' as in old world charm but old. For example, the curtain tracks were stuck and prevented the proper opening of the windows. The hair dryer that was attached to the toilet also had a "Not Working" sign pasted onto it. Almost all hotels in Greece uses their local produce for toiletries but the hair and body shampoo for this place are imported from China... Will leave the reader to figure out the reason :) One of the windows open to the courtyard where the restaurant is so some noise can be heard even with the windows closed if there are diners. But the level is not loud to be disturbing. Restaurant closes at 12am with some guests staying later than that occasionally. About 200m to the harbour so it is centrally located with restaurants all around. The 2 ladies manning the reception were helpful and knowledgeable. If you're a guest at the hotel, you are supposed to get a 10% discount when dining at the onsite restaurant, but it was not extended in our case even though we asked for confirmation. Details in the review of the restaurant separately.
Simon S — Google review
The hotel is located right in the heart of the Old City, and the location is excellent. If you're arriving by car, keep in mind that vehicles are not allowed inside the Old City, so you'll need to walk about 5–10 minutes to reach the hotel after parking. You can email the hotel in advance to ask about parking options — the detailed information they provide about free and paid parking is very helpful. The rooms are authentic and functional. It's a nice touch to have a fridge and a kettle. It would have been better if there were one or two more hooks on the bathroom wall. I really liked the hotel toiletries; they were all made with olive oil. On the first day of check-in, they offer a welcome drink with a choice of Aperol Spritz, wine, or beer — a very nice gesture. All the staff were extremely friendly and attentive. We were satisfied with the cleanliness of the room. The hotel’s restaurant is lovely; the food was beautifully presented and tasted great. Breakfast had a good variety, but the same options were served every day. After staying for four nights, we were hoping for some variety. The taste wasn’t particularly impressive. The bed was small and narrow for two people, too soft and not very comfortable — we didn’t sleep well.
Gulhan A — Google review
Loved this tiny hotel. It’s 600 years old and used to be a monastery, so it’s very tastefully decorated in an Old World style. It’s on a charming narrow alley with greenery hanging overhead. They offer a welcome drink. We had no intention of having dinner here but we looked at the menu while having the welcomed drink and the menu was amazing. We had the lamb and cheese in pastry and the vine leaves stuffed with lamb. And they even gave us 10% off since we were staying there. But back to the room. It was huge. It had a hair dryer and plenty of places to put your luggage. The view from room 109 was of the fortress and a charming courtyard restaurant below with a gurgling fountain. Since it’s a restaurant below there is noise but it was minimal and the fountain overrode the restaurant noise. We were exhausted and went to sleep at 9 with the window open and the noise wasn’t a problem. The fountain was turned off at some point and it was very quiet. The fountain was turned back on at 7 a.m. I really loved the white noise from the fountain. The bed was king sized, medium firmness. There is a safe but it’s too small for computers. The receptionist was very friendly as was the waiter. We highly recommend this hotel. We were only staying one night so we parked at the Fortessa Parking Lot 20 euros for 24 hours. There are cheaper parking lots a bit farther away. Ask and they’ll send you a list of parking lots.

My wife and I stayed at Veneto in September 2024 as part of our honeymoon. The hotel is located in the perfect part of Rethymno, easily accessible from both parking and the restaurants along the harbor. The property was beautiful, and all the hotel staff were very pleasant and helpful. The rooms were nice, although the shower was rather small and the beds could probably use an upgrade. We only stayed one night but really enjoyed our experience. We also enjoyed a wonderful wine-tasting at Veneto, which was a relaxed experience led by Venteo's sommelier, Rafael, and his protege, Daniel, who were both wonderful and knowledgeable. Our tasting included paired food, which was all delicious. Our personal favorites were the Cretan tomato jam and cheesecake.
Ian H — Google review
Very disappointed with the hotel. Looks nice from the photos and from outside. Hitel grounds look nice but the room itself is old and not that nice. Hotel staff is polite and helpful, however the hotel room is poorly maintained and not well maintained. Housekeeping also doesn’t seem complete, with no vanity items(eg cotton pads) at all, and water is also provided only on first day despite staying for 4 nights. Window catch is also spoilt so the window cannot be totally sealed. Worst is the lack of integrity…feel cheated as the hotel said that 10% discount will be provided to hotel guests who dine at their restaurant (called Veneto Restaurant). When we dined there, we had made reservations beforehand and though the service seem Pleasant and friendly, no discount was given. We asked once while Paying the bill and were told that discount was already given. However we were not given a proper receipt, only had the total Amount on the receipt with no breakdown. When we asked a second time, for the actual receipt with the items we ordered (instead of just a one-liner total), the waitress told us that she has thrown the receipt away and is not able to generate a copy for us. She asked us why we needed it and we thick-skinnedly explained again that we thought no discount was given to us. Again, the same waitress assured us discount was already given. We paid the amount as charged anyway but computed the bill on our own and realised that we were not given the discount, despite us asking twice and the restaurant confirming twice that they already did. The next day, we brought this up to the hotel staff who said they will check but nothing was done. The 10% discount is minor but it’s horrible to “cheat” hotel guests and also, make the guests feel so bad to have to keep asking about the discount. I definitely don’t like to be treated this way and feel very disappointed with this hotel and the restaurant. Will not stay again and will not recommend this hotel and the restaurant. Update post response from hotel: Though hotel’s response is that the hotel room was fully renovated this year, I want to clarify that it really does not appear so as the window facing the courtyard cannot be closed properly (latch is spoilt) and the bolted hair dryer is not working. Have attached a photo.

I never ever visit in restaurants suggested by travel agencies - before I do visit. And Le Dome you can visit with recommendation. It is nice basic Mediterranean food place where everything works. Recommendation it is 👍 (although we didn't have a reservation, you might want to do one if visiting later in the evening)

Amazing experience must visit. Beautiful restaurant. It was super busy at first, we arrived at 8pm , but staff seated us (family of 5) by the pizza bar while we waited for an ‘outside’ table. We were seated in 20 minutes. Staff were super friendly, accommodating and chatty. We had garlic bread for starter. I had sea bream which was fresh and all the other food we had was lovely. The red wine we ordered was great too. Everything was reasonably priced, and we got complimentary desserts :)

We spent a week in Rethymno, and we had dinner here 5 times. I was totally satisfied each time. The food was delicious, the cocktails presentation and taste was amazing. Is not the cheapest restaurant where I ate, but the portions are huge and taken in consideration that is situated in a well known tourist destination, I think they have correct prices. I recommend to everyone! I would like to come back here again.

we wanted to come to the beachfront and become customers but after super rude welcome from the staff we decided not to. Owner should maybe tell the staff to be more welcoming. If we weren't told that the changing cabin is only for customers but "welcome, we have chairs in this and that line still empty" and maybe some info if we can buy also drinks, it would give absolutely different image. We did want to stay but after such rude welcome we have left to neighboring beach bar where we spent way more than the 10 € we would pay here for Loungers.... Sometimes it's the attitude what makes the beach bar empty....

Located in Rethymno, Hasika is a top restaurant offering modern twists on traditional Greek cuisine. The menu features fresh and local ingredients with a short but interesting selection of appetizers. Visitors praise the delicious and creatively seasoned food, with standout dishes like deconstructed moussaka and well-made flank steak. The chic ambiance, superb service, and use of local seasonal produce make dining at Hasika an unforgettable experience.
Lovely restaurant with a beautiful atmosphere. Hasika offers traditional greek cuisine with a modern twist. Thus the prices are also a bit higher but if you appreciate high quality food and service Hasika is a must-visit. The flavours are just out of this world, have enjoyed both of the times I visited Hasika (I had to come back here after 3 years because of the lentil salad and the cheese pies😅) I recommend especially the eggplant and rooster as main dishes and the lovely salads as starters.

We stumbled across this restaurant in the streets of Rethymno and absolutely loved it! The street was not too busy so it was very pleasant to sit in the street. The service was absolutely lovely, we received great advices for our orders and all in all great conversations. Now to the best part, the food! We shared 3 entrances, a Cretan salad which honestly was the best we tried in our vacation here. A cheese pie which as well was absolutely fabulous and an amazing shrimps saganaki. For main courses we had an absolutely delicious fish (red snapper, the best fish he ate according to my boyfriend) and an amazing pilaf bulgar lamb! We can only recommend this place if you’d like to try authentic delicious Cretan food. We both do not drink alcohol so we did not try the wine but they have a bar directly connected with the restaurant and it looks as well as the perfect match with the food.

One of the best restaurants we tried in Rethymno, more of a modern take on Greek cuisine. The calamari gyros was done in the style of a bowl, with Mexican inspired flavours and honestly a textural delight. Flavour profile was reminiscence of Mexican cuisine. One of the best dishes we’ve had in Crete! The carpaccio was also very well done with green onion oil, lime zest and salt. The veal cheeks were tender and flavourful served on top of creamy mash, also highly recommend.

I heard and read about Hasika from the moment I began planning our Crete Rethymno holidays or the week we stayed in the area. My oh my what a surprise it was, the food is truly extraordinary, so fresh and the Cretan fusion with modern cuisine is sumptuous. The team /staff are fantastic, their knowledge of wine selection with exactly the food we have ordered is a master in hospitality and restaurant business. Today visited this cocktail bar and was absolutely delighted! The atmosphere is cozy and stylish — the perfect spot for an evening out with friends or a date. But what truly made the experience exceptional was the service. Our waiter was outstanding — attentive, friendly, and incredibly knowledgeable about the menu. He took the time to explain the different cocktails, recommend options based on our preferences. Highly recommend this place, especially for the exceptional service! Today’s shift, which was on until 6 PM, was especially fantastic.

We stopped here for a drink and appetizer. The atmosphere was lively and the starter we had ( prosciutto bruschetta) was good. The only thing that was a negative, was the service. It was terrible. Our waiter would walk by and never look at us. We ordered a second drink (which we had to flag down another waiter for) and they brought mine and not my husband's. He had to go to the hostess and request that they bring, meanwhile, I was almost finished with mine. Needless to say, we didn't stay for a third.

We went here with 9 people in total. We got met by service minded waitors who quickly got us settled at a large table. The interior and exterior give a good vibe for eating a late dinner, and later in the dinner there were music and disco lights which made the mood even better. We ordered many different dishes. The mini burgers were excellent, the tacos are fantastic. The pasta was a bit dry, but yet very tasteful. The steak was perfectly cooked after our wish. Should have a bit of sauce though. We got a complimentary jar of drink during our meal, a nice touch. Toilets were clean and nice and in general the place was very tidy. We loved our stay at this restaurant.

The place is beautiful – but let’s be honest, it’s Angelo at the entrance who steals the show. He’s not just the host – he’s the entire first impression, mood and magic of the place. From the moment you walk in, his smile, warmth, and magnetic energy make you feel like you’re exactly where you’re meant to be. He doesn’t just greet you – he sets the tone. Elegant, joyful, and effortlessly charismatic, Angelo is the heartbeat of the whole place. Honestly? He’s the best. The most charming, the most professional, the most unforgettable. Every place needs an Angelo – but there’s only one.

Don't be tempted with all the ice cream in the area. This is the best ice cream you will ever eat! Creamy, smooth, so tasty! Best ice cream ever. And the workers are soooo nice! No wonder it's still standing from 1950!

Never had the sheep milk ice cream before. It’s wonderful and creamy. Better than even cow’s milk. Had the parfait and chocolate. They also have a pasty shop. Go get some!

The most typical and traditional confectionery of Rethymno (since 1950). You must try the galaktompoureko (Greek custard pie) which is probably the best you can get in the whole country. Not to be missed are the kantaifi, baklava and vieneza (a local speciality) sweets. Ice cream is also really delicious and is made of local sheep milk. The place is mainly to take away and there are a few tables. You must pass by this place if you are in Rethymno, it is a delicious time travel to Cretan confectionery.

This is a nice cake shop. I tried a few of their products.. all good. Especially love the mini tart with jams on top.. nomnomnom.. Chocolate cake was quite ok, it feels like dark chocolate digestives in a cake version. Lol The “galaktoboureko” (sth like that lol) was great! Friendly owner :))

Rewine is a trendy wine bar located in Rethymno-Crete, offering a wide selection of local and international wines in a modern and welcoming setting. Situated on the outskirts of the Old Town, it features specialty wines from Crete, Greece, Europe, and beyond. The ever-changing variety of wines by the glass allows patrons to explore different options regularly. In addition to their impressive wine collection, Rewine also serves specialty coffee and offers a menu of cocktails and bar food.
We had the best time at Rewine - such a cool and stylish place! The restaurant/bar staff gave us a short introduction to their wine collection and presented us with some great recommendations. An organic rose that we had on our first evening, brought us back to the place the very next day. Definitely recommend!

We came for a glass and would have taken maybe another glass, but the wine list was immediately taken away even though we wanted to keep it at our table! Otherwise, the restaurant is in a small alley and has a cozy terrace. So I can't give more stars because the visit was short
Riitta-Liisa Y — Google review
The best wine place in Crete. You can taste great wines from all over Greece as well as local ones. What surprised us more is the quality of food, which we enjoyed very much and which went perfectly with wine. I'd like that the regular wines by the glass are a bit cheaper. For special wines and food i fully understand it. It's not the place to save money, but relax and enjoy it more than usual, if you're a wine lover on holiday.
Nemanja J — Google review
Good food and ok wine. For a wine bar they had a seemingly limited selection of good Crete (or Greek) wines. Perhaps it was different by the bottle. Nice location and great decor though. Other places seem to have a better wine selection though.
Laura U — Google review
A great wine bar located on a quiet street on the edge of the Old Town. They serve speciality wines from Crete & Greece and also European (and world?) producers. The wines by the glass change on a regular basis, so you have the opportunity to taste a wide selection. They also have speciality coffee including espresso and filter from a variety of brew methods. Cocktails and bar food menu are also available. If you enjoy wine, this place is a must go.

Very nice local wines and so friendly staff. Come for sure if you like wine! Plus the food is very nice too!

Best Wine Bar in Rethymno. Very friendly service and good local wine selection. The bar is a little outside from the tourist hot spots and just 3 minutes walk away from there in a typical Cretan alley
Pascal J — Google review
Very nice atmosphere, nice music and good service. On the other hand, you'd expect a wider choice of wines by the glass - more than the three whites available. On the food side, we liked the dishes, except for the "chips" that was just overpriced ordinary fried potato flakes.

Nafpigio, a hidden gem in Rethymno, is a favorite among locals for its delicious cocktails and vibrant atmosphere. The bar features a DJ and friendly service, creating a welcoming and relaxed environment. Despite current regulations, the staff ensures that guests have an amazing experience. With over 25 years of history, Nafpigio has become a beloved spot for both locals and tourists alike.
The Nafpigio is probably an insider tip among the locals in Rethymno. This is where they meet in the evening for a few delicious cocktails. There is a DJ in the interior, but due to the current Corona regulations it is not allowed to dance there... The service is very friendly, relaxed and attentive. You feel welcome and are very well advised. My waiter's favourite cocktail is now also my favourite cocktail. I can highly recommend the MELON BONITO cocktail :-) The Nafpigio is worth a visit.

A Hidden Gem by the Sea – A Must-Visit in Rethymno! If you're visiting Rethymno and looking for a truly authentic seaside experience, Nafpigio is the place to be. Located right by the water, this spot combines stunning views, a relaxed atmosphere, and exceptional hospitality that will make you feel right at home. The food is fresh and full of flavor, with traditional Cretan and Mediterranean dishes that highlight the best of local ingredients. Whether you're in the mood for fresh seafood, grilled meats, or vegetarian options, there's something for everyone. The cocktails are also a highlight – creative, well-balanced, and perfect to enjoy as the sun sets over the harbor. What really sets Nafpigio apart is the warm and friendly staff. The service is attentive without being overwhelming, and the team truly goes the extra mile to ensure you have a memorable experience. Whether you're coming for lunch, dinner, or just a drink by the sea, Nafpigio offers a vibe that perfectly blends local charm with comfort and quality. Highly recommended for couples, friends, or even solo travelers looking to enjoy the best of what Rethymno has to offer.

🌟 Absolutely Amazing Experience at Nafpigio Bar in Rethymno! 🪐 I recently had the pleasure of visiting Nafpigio Bar in Rethymno during my trip to Crete, and I can't help but share my incredibly positive experience. This place has been dancing its way into the hearts of locals and visitors for an impressive 25+ years! The energy and passion that surround this bar are truly unparalleled. As a lover of Electronica/Dance music, with a special place in my heart for House and Techno, Nafpigio became an absolute must-visit during my time in Rethymno. The bar's unique atmosphere and diverse music selection make it a hub for music enthusiasts like me. From Funk, Breaks, and Soul to Disco, Jazz, Hip-Hop, and the infectious beats of House and Techno as the night unfolds, Nafpigio offers a musical journey that's impossible to resist. Not only does Nafpigio serve as a great spot to enjoy your morning coffee while gazing at the picturesque view, but it also transforms into a haven for those seeking vibrant nightlife and dancing until dawn. The authenticity of the venue truly shines, making it a place where new songs are discovered, only to become the soundtrack of your next night out. The story of Nafpigio's journey since its modest beginnings in 1996 is truly inspiring. The founder, has managed to create a haven for electronic music lovers in Rethymno and beyond. DJs like Nikolas Gale, Mackenzie, ZOOROO, my favourite Useless Co. and others have added their magic to the mix, curating unforgettable nights and memorable experiences. The view of the harbor and the iconic Fortezza Castle only add to the charm of this exceptional place. The dedication to quality music, the welcoming atmosphere, and the joyful crowd create an environment where each visit feels like a celebration. Cheers to another 25 years of pure musical bliss at Nafpigio Bar! 🛸🎶🪩🎛️

Hunky Funky Cocktail Bar is a popular and cozy pub located in the heart of Rethymno's old town on Mesologiou Street. Housed in a historic 16th-century building, this bar offers a wide variety of cocktails and drinks, creating a lovely atmosphere with soft music. Visitors praise the friendly and knowledgeable staff, as well as the finger food platter that complements their drinks perfectly.
Absolutely loved this place! Found Singapore Sling on the menu which is rare to see in Europe and perfectly made. 🍸 The bartender clearly knew their craft. The atmosphere was stylish yet relaxed, with friendly service and a great music vibe, energetic but not too loud, so you can still have a conversation. Cool and creative interior design as well. Highly recommended for anyone looking for quality cocktails and a fun night out in Rethymno. Will definitely come back!

For well made drinks, that taste amazing and are very fairly priced, I will always choose Hunky Funky From the start, it’s friendly and accommodating staff ensure you are comfortable when seating and ensure you become familiar with both the space and the staff! Daphne, and one other, were two of the staff members who took care of our party on multiple occasions and was sure to do their best to make us comfortable and well tended to. Thank you to them and the rest of the incredible staff at Hunky Funky. Coming from a background in bar tending and hospitality, I can confidently say that the drink options, flavours and craftsmanship are exceptional and incredibly well balanced. All whilst being very well priced. Again, Hunky Funky will remain a first choice for anytime I fancy a great drink in a great place. Definitely a 5* bar and the first place I will visit upon my return to the town!

Accompanied by soft music and the soothing sound of water, we experienced excellent service and warm, friendly staff. The elegant tables were beautifully decorated with fresh flowers. We had a delicious salad made with fresh greens straight from the field, topped with dried figs and fried feta cheese, followed by incredibly tasty grilled calamari. A truly delightful ambiance. You absolutely must try the mastic mousse on a bed of shredded kadaif. It’s magnificent! I highly recommend yhis restaurant.

We lucked into the best restaurant I’ve been to since 2012, I’m not joking! 1) the atmosphere, oh MY goodness! There is a courtyard in the back, past a gorgeous Venetian entry room with a fountain and so much gorgeous architecture. The courtyard is the cutest thing I ever saw. 2) the service: our server was SO friendly and accommodating to all 8 of us, two kids included, and everyone was thrilled with her. One of those times you wish you had more to say than just “thank you”. 3) the FOOD! Okay, all the good was good…. But I luckily chose the beef tenderloin with sweet potato mash and I swear I will be gushing about that meal for the next decade! I can’t recall liking a restaurant meal this much since a salmon dinner I had in New York in 2012. That meal and this meal = best two meals from a restaurant ever, full stop.

Very disappointed with the restaurant. Looks nice from the photos and ambience is pretty, which is the only good thing I can say. I’m a hotel guest and was told that there will be a 10% discount for hotel guest dining at the restaurant. We made reservations via the hotel for the restaurant. The food is average compared to the other restaurants in the vincinty, except for the masthic dessert, which is nice. The service is ok but no discount was given to us, despite us asking twice. It’s embarrassing for us but it’s very frustrating that the hotel and restaurant seem to be using such tactics to cheat hotel guests.

LOUVRO THE CLUB is a vibrant nightlife spot in Rethymno, offering a variety of options for a fun evening out. Despite some mixed reviews, it's known for its lively atmosphere and friendly staff. The club features music and dancing, with professional service and a welcoming vibe. While there have been some concerns about the music selection and entry policies, many visitors have enjoyed their experience at this beautiful venue without encountering any issues related to discrimination or dress code.
Hello. We are tourist from Poland. In price 80 euros for 4 people they gave us bottle.jageirmaster 750ml 4 redbulls snacks and table. Music 🎶 🎵 ⏹️ super cool . Never have been in club like that. Don't listen stupid peoples
Diego D — Google review
It's completely packed with people, but no one is even dancing. They just stand, drink, eat. Dirty toilet an hour after opening. The atmosphere and music were good.
Darys N — Google review
We paid the 10 euro entry fee, and just as we were about to go in, a man at the door started screaming at us, making a huge scene outside the club. It was honestly scary — he was aggressive and hostile, and my friends and I felt completely uncomfortable. Then he told us we had to pay 150 euros for a bottle just to enter the club, even though we had already paid to get in. Total scam behavior. There was no mention of this “bottle rule” when we bought the entry tickets. I come to Greece every year and I’ve never experienced anything like this. This isn’t nightlife — it’s intimidation and exploitation. If you’re a tourist or a group of friends, stay away from this place.
Joanna D — Google review
Well, I expected dancing people at a club But except from the bar keeper and two GoGo-Girls the club was more like a music bar. Just to turn up the volume does not make a good vibe. So style cool. Service professional Reservation and website : some chance to improve Music selection and good mood for dancing needs to improve 😜
Norbert E — Google review
Absolutely shocking experience at this club. The bouncer at the entrance was one of the most aggressive and intimidating individuals I’ve ever encountered. There were three of us, and we were told that entry was only possible if we bought a bottle — despite the fact that none of us drink alcohol. We felt extremely uncomfortable and even scared by how we were spoken to. The person at the door, should not be working in any environment that involves interacting with people. His behavior was completely unacceptable. I live in London and have been to many clubs, and I’ve never experienced anything like this. This place needs serious management intervention — AVOID if you value respectful treatment and a safe night out.
Sabina S — Google review
Ironically, everything seemed pretty normal at first. We paid to get in and ordered a drink. The hostess walked us to the bar, which was in the middle of a group of men. While I was at the bar ordering, someone clearly tried to grab my bag, so I had to pull it around to the front of me. Then, as I stepped away with our drinks, my boyfriend told me someone had tried to pickpocket him and was sizing him up. It seems like this bar is mostly for locals, and if you’re a foreigner, you need to be cautious — it felt like we were being targeted.

The location in the old city is perfect. The hotel garden and plunge pool is an oasis in the throng of the old city. The shops, tavernas, bars and ice cream parlours are within seconds from your front door. The hotel is small and friendly with attentive and helpful staff. The rooms are large but a little dated. The bathroom is tiny in comparison to the rest. The garden provides tables and sun loungers and is the location for breakfast.

We recently returned from a five night stay at the Swell Boutique Hotel in Rethymno, Crete, and had a truly wonderful experience! 1. Location: Excellent! The hotel is perfectly situated just steps from the beach, the boardwalk, and a variety of restaurants and shops. It’s easy to reach (although about an hour's drive from Heraklion Airport), and absolutely worth the trip! Rethymno itself is full of charm and history, with the Old Town and fortress within walking distance. 2. Service: Outstanding! From the moment we arrived early, the staff went out of their way to make us feel welcome. They prepared our room ahead of time so we could start our vacation right away and even offered us refreshments in the lobby while we waited - always with a smile. When our flight home was delayed, they were kind enough to arrange a late checkout for a small fee. A special touch: my husband celebrated his birthday during our stay, and we were surprised with a bottle of wine and fresh fruit in our room - such a thoughtful gesture that really made our day. The cleaning staff were excellent, and the bartender was equally delightful. 3. Room: Spacious & Comfortable We booked the double suite, which we highly recommend - perfect for two couples or a family with older kids (note: the stairs inside the suite are quite steep). The room was beautifully arranged, with a lovely view, a great layout, and all the comforts: air conditioning, a coffee machine, water, tea, and plenty of storage space. 4. Parking : Manageable The hotel does offer parking, though it’s limited. On the few occasions it was full, we easily found a spot nearby after a short drive around the area. 5. Breakfast: Very Good A nice variety of options and a beautiful spot to enjoy your morning meal with a view. We highly recommend the Swell Boutique Hotel and truly wish we could have stayed longer. We’ll definitely be back the next time we visit Crete!

Swell Boutique Hotel is the perfect place for those who like comfortable, clean and quiet rooms with a stunning sea view; breakfast rich and diverse; the beach just a few steps away... We had an incredible time here! We were in the Blue Room, which as mentioned is above the Irish Pub . This worked for us, as we stayed up late and really enjoyed that pub. Other visitors may prefer the other rooms, which are quieter. Our room was stunning, clean, and very spacious. The breakfast is fantastic! It gives you a great sampling of Cretan foods. We also greatly enjoyed the wine tasting. Nikos, the sommelier, is very experienced and highly knowledgeable about Cretan wines. We had a truly unforgettable experience at Avli Lounge Apartments. After celebrating nearby, we lost track of time and realized it was too late to drive back to our hotel (over an hour away). To our pleasant surprise, the wonderful staff welcomed us warmly and provided a beautiful room for the night at a fair price, including breakfast. The rooms are decorated in a historic Venetian style with stone walls and authentic details, fully equipped with everything you need — clean towels, cozy bathrobes, and a stunning interior. It feels like stepping back in time, yet with modern comfort. Breakfast in the garden was magical — surrounded by orange trees, cats wandering peacefully, and the charm of a courtyard that makes you forget what year or century it is. The food was delicious, the service impeccable, and the whole atmosphere unforgettable. A night here felt like a journey into history, and we are so happy we discovered this gem in the heart of the Old Town. Highly recommended!

Visiting for a second time in three years, we were immediately reassured that nothing of the excellent service and delightful accommodation had changed. Avli’s focus on local products in its restaurants is commendable and sensible given the quality of the Cretan products. The staff’s warmth is genuine. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend or to return.

Amazing place! The location was so cool! Surrounded by great restaurants, in the heart of old town. The highlight of this place was the service! Super friendly staff, who so generously took into account that we were on our honeymoon. Best hotel we stayed in so far in Crete.
Raj K — Google review
Great location, staff was extremely kind and attentive. They give a small departure gift also with olive oil and honey. The breakfast is at the restaurant every day and it was amazing. Also HIGHLY recommend the cooking class. So much food, very informative and the head chef is fantastic. This was our favorite restaurant and experience in Crete

Metropolis Society Bar is located in the charming Venetian port of the Old Town of Rethymno. The bar boasts an elegant decor and offers a selection of sophisticated cocktails crafted by skilled bartenders. Guests can enjoy a diverse music selection, including Greek pop-rock, disco tunes, and international hits spun by talented DJs. Additionally, visitors can take advantage of the happy hour from 9 to 10pm for a delightful experience at this stylish establishment.
The restaurant is in the old town, just on the sea shore in a renovated old building. The personal is polite and very helpful. The food is more than delicious. It's worth visiting and have both meals and realx there. Try the local vidiano wine!
Pltito74 — Google review
Waitress brings the wrong drink (much costlier) and claims the ordered drink was not available, only informing this when asked about the price. Not wanting to make a fuss, I take it and realise on the first sip, the drink tastes watered down. When asked, the waitress says she didn't prepare it and does nothing. Smells like a scam. A black dot in an otherwise fun night.
Shih L — Google review
Very nice place and service, music varies from 2000's to recent hits. There is also a happy hour from 9 to 10pm.
Jay B — Google review
Wow, this place has downgraded so fast and so bad. I have traveled to Crete and Rethymnon a lot and this used to be a decent place. But now, the service quality has just gotten pathetic. Rude staff, zero service, bad food. The lady at the gate had really rude attitude. I even saw her behaving with some of the tourists in a borderline racist way. Go and find plenty of beautiful bars closeby.
Dr. S — Google review
Bad DJ. We asked him to play 1 one rocksong. Great balls of fire. He Said laiter. Perhaps within 15 minuters. We stayed for 60 minuters, but he did not play our song. Just dull disco. Do not go there if you want them to play your music. But very nice waiters. Peter.

10 € entrance to get a long drink in a plastic cup. All our friends stepped in 15 min earlier without paying entrance .... carnival day 18 feb 2018.
Asterios M — Google review
Absolute nonsense, very high headed staff, no inclination for service. Will never return. Just walk up to any place few meters away and you are sure to have better service than this one. Rude staff and worst cocktails ever

Newly refurished and looking good. Service is quick and friendly. Musik is more of mixed genres so that there is something for almost anybody there

Museum
The Folk Museum, located in a 17th-century Venetian mansion on Vernardou Street, Rethymno, is a treasure trove of Cretan culture and history. Founded in 1973 by Christophoros Stavroulakis and Fani Voyiatzaki, the museum showcases an extensive collection of crafts and folk art. Visitors can explore exhibits featuring embroidery, lacework, baskets, coins, pottery, traditional crops, and bread-making tools.
What a gem of a museum. Beautifully laid out in a historical house, with fascinating displays. Definitely worth a visit. Admission fee €5
Liz G — Google review
Very good museum. All the items were in their own areas, easy to follow. Lovely lady sold tickets.
Liisa V — Google review
While the folk museum itself was surprisingly rich and informative, considering its size, my experience was somewhat marred by the noise level at the ticket office. The staff members seemed to be engaged in lengthy conversations, both on the phone and with each other, which made it difficult to concentrate on the exhibits. It would have been appreciated if they had been more mindful of the visitors' experience and kept their conversations at a lower volume.
Lazaros M — Google review
We learned so much from it. The staff is really helpful and have a lot of knowledge so don’t hesitate to ask them anything. The structure of the house says a lot about how the build their houses over a century ago. The museum itself has a really big amount of exhibits. It’s a must visit museum if you ever visite Rethymno because you learn about the contemporary history of the whole Crete (15th century until 20th century)
Vkmariam — Google review
Turned away brusquely today (21 October 2025) and told closed for the winter - despite winter opening hours listed on website, and a note on the listing a few individual days of closure. Guess the staff can't be bothered.
Pat N — Google review
Great museum with the collection of many items related to modern history of Crete and local folklore. Worth of the visit while being in Rethymno.
Tomasz W — Google review
Interesting and informative museum in the old town of Rethymno. Signs are provided in English and we learnt lots about the traditional crafts of Crete as well as the wider history of the island. Would recommend visiting when you first arrive in Rethymno if you want the background information before exploring. A relatively small museum but definitely worth a visit. The opening times are limited but we found the ones listed on Google to be correct.

Mythos Suites Boutique Hotel is a charming retreat located in the heart of Rethymno, housed in a 1500s building. The hotel offers comfortable and well-equipped rooms with private balconies and small kitchens, along with access to delightful breakfasts. Guests can relax by the small pool in the garden courtyard or explore the nearby town hub. For those seeking a more traditional seaside experience, Bali provides crystal-clear waters and quaint villages.
Mythos Boutique Hotel was the perfect choice for our honeymoon. We stayed in a duplex suite, nicely furnished with a terrace, perfect for a glass of wine in the evening. The staff of the family run hotel gave us great advice on short trips to the neighboring villiges, great restaurants and places to visit on our upcoming trip to athens. Sandro and Tin

A Wonderful Stay in the Heart of Rethymnon The location of this hotel is absolutely perfect – right in the middle of the old town of Rethymnon, with everything within walking distance, including the beach. The hotel itself is full of charm, beautifully styled in a Venetian way that adds to the whole experience. Our room was lovely and full of character. One of the highlights was the small courtyard with a pool – such a peaceful spot to relax after exploring the city. But what truly made our stay special was the service. The staff were incredibly kind and helpful – some of the friendliest we've ever met. You really don’t find that level of hospitality in many places. Highly recommended!

Stayed here 4 nights at the end of October. Nice rooms. Very nice and helpful staff. Great breakfast. They even fixed a nice breakfast when we had to leave very early. Great location in the old town. Parking is a few minutes from the hotel.

If I were to describe my perfect Greek place to stay, Mythos Suites Hotel in Rethymnon would be it. Charming secluded garden courtyard oasis, in a Venetian building in the heart of the old town. We stayed in a duplex room, whilst our teenage daughter and her friend shared a slightly smaller room. Both were delightful places to stay. Comfortable, clean, spacious and tastefully decorated. Each with an outside seating area overlooking the pool. Eirini and her staff were so friendly and helpful, sharing their local knowledge and really caring for our happiness. Finally, the locally-sourced breakfast. Delicious, varied, fresh and tasty. We couldn’t have asked for better. Thank you.

A gorgeous small hotel hidden away in the old town of Rethymno. The staff are lovely, and Erini does a wonderful job of host. Her recommendations for restaurants and trips were spot on. The rooms and hotel are very clean, the breakfast is generous and locally sourced where they can. If you like friendly, local businesses then you will love this place - we did and will be returning ! It is an oasis of tranquility with caring staff.

Great location, just in the center, close to restaurants, beach, shops and everything you need. The staff is absolutely lovely, the experience they offer is so genuine. The breakfast is freshly prepared every day with lots of tasty options. Thank you for this experience!❤️

The property is beautiful and in the center city, but in the rooms it's very quiet and peaceful. The AC worked fine and showers had no problem getting warm water. It's family run and everyone is very nice, friendly, and helpful. There is a nice breakfast. There is parking nearby but you will have to walk a little bit with your luggage. Our room was perfect size for 2 people, there is a very small kitchenette inside if you need it.

Antica Dimora Suites is a refined boutique hotel located in the heart of Rethymno, occupying a charming 19th-century mansion with exposed stone walls and street-view balconies. The hotel offers an outdoor pool, a hammam, and two bars for guests to enjoy. It is conveniently situated near Agios Frangiskos Church and Centre for Byzantine Art, as well as being just minutes away from the harbor.
What a great hotel, set in a lovely old house. My room was amazing, both spacious and comfy. The view was great, too, from my balcony. The concierge was incredibly helpful and friendly. I felt incredibly looked after. I would recommend here for anyone wanting to make the most of the old town. With the ambience especially good for couples

I had an excellent stay at this lovely hotel in the heart of Rethymno’s old town. It was the perfect base for exploring the charming streets, and the central bus station was an easy 10-minute walk away, providing easy access to other parts of Crete. The hotel is housed in a historic building but has been thoughtfully modernized, even featuring an elevator to help with luggage. The staff were incredibly warm and welcoming, always happy to share local tips and recommendations, which made my visit even more memorable. Breakfast was fresh and satisfying, with a classic continental buffet that included eggs, sausages, bread, pastries, jams, and fruits. The small swimming pool was a lovely extra, perfect for a refreshing break after a day out. I’d definitely stay here again the next time I’m in Rethymno.

This hotel was absolutely perfect for our stay in Rethymno. The room was lovely, the owners and staff really friendly and welcoming, location amazing. Would stay at this hotel if we ever come back for a visit. Buffet breakfast had different items everyday and was delicious. Pool area was peaceful and quiet, ideal for sitting out when the sun was just too hot to wander round. Very relaxing. Nothing was too much trouble here, please book this hotel you won't be disappointed.

We stayed the second week in September, our flight had been delayed but still waiting at the door to greet us was Alexandra. She told us we had been upgraded and showed us to our room after providing us with a welcome drink and a pastry . From that moment we knew it was going to be fantastic, I tried out my Greek which was greeted with a smile, so I think I did alright. Breakfast we can say is the best we have had, there was a great choice and it set us off well for the rest of the day. Marco was equally as accommodating and spoke in fluent Greek to me at times as he seemed assured I was OK with this, for the main I was. We cannot praise either of them, the staff or indeed the accommodation more highly and we wished we could have stayed longer. The location for us was absolutely spot on and obviously in the older part of town.

Antica Dimora is a charming small hotel located in the old town of Rethymno. The rooms are spacious, comfortable, and decorated in an antique style. It offers all modern conveniences, and my stay was truly pleasant. A special thanks to Alexandra from the staff, who made me feel completely at home. She was incredibly kind and helpful. I will definitely return when I have the chance
Davide V — Google review
The rooms are lovely and spacious, and the building is beautiful. The location in the old town is perfect (and with a large parking spot nearby). The staff, Alexandra and Marco, made the holiday even better with their lovely personalities and willingness to help and give recommendations - we would give the staff 10 stars if possible. We will definitely go back to stay here! The only downside, and reason for not giving five stars, is the pool area. The backyard with the pool is cozy and what you expect in a town hotel. But the pool itself could really use some maintenance.
Cecilie H — Google review
The hotel is beautiful, has a unique character and embeds the spirit of Rethymno. Heritage architecture and interesting design make it stand out. Though located in an extremely busy area its quiet, safe and very comfortable. You are located literally 5 minutes away from all bars and restaurants and close by there is taxis and parking. The hosts are very sweet and kind, very helpful and strive to accommodate all your needs. The pool areas feels very exotic and is a pleasant break in the hot weather. Will visit again.
Anastasia D — Google review
Great location! Old town area charm. Walking distance to pretty much everything. Clean and more than functional, great bargain. We even had a balcony. Staff went above and beyond. Breakfast was better than the more “well known chains” and fresh every morning. They also offered us sandwiches and coffee for take away when we had early am tours booked. Found the best rental car option when we wanted to explore the island. Just book here. You won’t regret it.

In contrast to the numerous other shops that offer all kinds of tourist kitsch, this small shop has a very nice selection of handmade Greek souvenirs from local and Greek designers. The shop owner is very friendly and even gave us a few tips on what to see and visit in Rethymnon. If you are looking for good quality souvenirs and not just the average tourist stuff that can be found everywhere, I can recommend this shop!
Florian M — Google review
It was the most beautiful store for presents and we were so excited to buy something. We asked her if she was open all day to which she replied yes. After lunch we went there, and the store had a sign that said she would return at six. It was exactly six when we arrived and we waited for 20 minutes!! She didn't come and we left without a present. Very dissapointing.

Exactly what the name says: unique, Greek, and uniquely Greek gifts. The best shop I’ve come across in the two weeks we’ve been in the country, by far.
