Perched on a hilltop, Hamamatsu Castle is a restored fort and history museum surrounded by a picturesque park with seasonal blooms and stunning city vistas. Once home to the young warlord Ieyasu Tokugawa, the castle now houses a permanent exhibition of samurai artifacts, including swords, armor, maps, and family crests. Visitors can ascend to the third floor for a 360-degree viewing deck offering panoramic views of the city and even glimpses of Mt.
Great castle with some amazing views. Smaller than Osaka castle but only 200 yen entry fee so worth the money. Without paying you can access everything around the castle but not inside. Museum inside with informational points and some cool samurai armour.

If start from Hamamatsu station. It has many bus route to here. Take bus around 10 minute to there then continua walk around 10 minute to go top on hill. Entrance fee 200 Yen take around 15 minute to go around castle. It's small compare with Osaka castle. But if you come Hamamatsu Pref. It good experience to go here.
ArmRatch — Google review
About a 20 minute walk from the station. Small castle surrounded by park and gardens. Free entry for seniors and a lot of information provided in English. Not a lot of visitors like some castles so able to take your time and enjoy the views.
George H — Google review
Walking around the castle is free but if you want to go inside the castle you have to pay 200 yen which is cheap I experienced to see the beautiful build up of the city which is recreated through simulation.

The Japanese garden was beautiful. Though It was raining when I visited, the sounds of rain drops calmed me.

It’s a small castle atop a relatively small hill. Very well preserved. Has a great view of the city. The gardens around it are beautiful. 20 mins walk from Hamamatsu station. Must visit
Nihar M — Google review
I used to visit here 2-3 times a week when I was in Japan. The castle has various interesting ancient things on display like the armours and weapons and utensils , plates. There is a garden in that premises ! It’s sooo beautiful ❤️ it has a waterfall and a beautiful bridge and walking around the garden was always a peaceful and relaxing experience for me! There are many vending machines and a Starbucks.

Hamamatsu Flower Park is a stunning botanical garden located on the edge of Lake Hamana in Shizuoka Prefecture. The park boasts an impressive display of around 100,000 plants and flowers, including over 3,000 species such as roses, tulips, irises, and cherry blossoms. Visitors can also enjoy greenhouse exhibits and water fountain displays. Additionally, the park offers illumination during cherry blossom season and features spring and summer displays of wisteria and tulips.
I recently visited Hamamatsu Flower Park during the spring season, and it was an unforgettable experience. The wisteria blossoms were in full bloom, creating a stunning canopy of purple and white flowers. Walking beneath the 170-meter-long wisteria trellis felt like stepping into a dream. The rose garden was equally captivating, with a vibrant array of colors and fragrances. Each rose variety was meticulously cared for, making the garden a true feast for the senses. The park’s layout is thoughtfully designed, offering scenic spots at every turn. The combination of seasonal flowers, well-maintained paths, and tranquil water features creates a perfect setting for relaxation and photography. If you’re in the Hamamatsu area, I highly recommend visiting this park. It’s a beautiful escape into nature’s splendor.

I went to Hamamatsu Flower Park last month. Unexpected that it was free no ticket needed. It's so beautiful. You can take a tram to sightseeing around the park, it cost you ¥100 only. I recommended you to try to rose softcream inside Crystal Palace. It's so delicious and taste like a rose for real. ✨
Yurisa — Google review
Big flower garden with variety of flowers inside. I enjoyed the fountain. You can take outside food here to eat with friend and family. Try to visit during June-July, you might get chance to see wisteria bloomed. Also if you visit during period of sept to dec.
Ramsharan S — Google review
The humongous flower garden is located in Hamamatsu. It seems the car parking lot is not enough during cherry blossom. You can take the tram to sightseeing around or walk. This place is proper for family to spend their time together all day. Wheelchair is accessible.
Noranut T — Google review
It was a nice park. However, i came on the wrong day (it was raining), and in the wrong season (September - there was few flowers). It would be beautiful in the Spring. I’ve got free candies with the vouchers (Y200) given when buying the tickets.
Giang H — Google review
Missed the wisteria but the place is magnificent. So many roses in full bloom.A huge glasshouse with differently themed areas, Bali, The desert. Huge parkland to roam around and explore. Lovely food area with lots of seating.
Alla H — Google review
If you like flowers here's the place. This place is as out of way as some other nature attractions in Hamamatsu. Bus 30 is the bus to and from Hamamatsu Eki station and is also where shinkansen is. There's a food court where you purchase a meal ticket waiting for your number to be called in Japanese. No visual cues! However with my very basic japanese I try to make out the numbers until I am confused so I just try my luck twice with the counter share until she understood I couldn't understand japanese, I stood by the counter area waiting for my turn and when I heard something familiar I signalled to move forward and the counter staff was nice to remember and signalled me over. I felt relieved when I could get my lunch there.
Davis ( — Google review
From Toyohashi in Aichi, getting to the park was relatively easy. My partner and I arrived around lunchtime. The parking lot in front of the park was full, so we had to drive a bit further—about 50 meters—to park at the flower park’s public parking area. From there, it was about a 5-minute walk to the park. We didn’t buy tickets in advance, but the queue moved quickly, so the wait was a breeze. They don’t accept cards, so be sure to bring cash when you visit. First, we headed straight to the café. They don’t accept cards there either. After lunch, we strolled around the park. We walked around for a good 2–3 hours and would’ve stayed longer if it hadn’t gotten unbearably cold (we left our jackets in the car—our fault, lol). The narcissus, tulips, and sakura were in full bloom when we visited. We also bought zoo tickets but decided not to go—again, no jackets, lol. Although we came for the flower-viewing, the cactus and succulents greenhouse ended up being the highlight for me. I’ve never seen so many cacti and succulents in one place. The narcissus field looked like something out of a fairytale. Tulips in a rainbow of colors could be seen all around the park. The giant animal topiaries near the cactus greenhouse were also a sight to see. Be sure to ride the train (tickets are 100 yen) and take the ferris wheel for a view of the entire park from above. Phone stands are also available at some photogenic spots, so take advantage of those. All in all, my partner and I had a great experience. I’d give this 5 stars—if only the park accepted cards!

The Hamamatsu City Museum of Musical Instruments is a must-visit for music enthusiasts, boasting an impressive collection of over 1,300 instruments from various countries. As Japan's sole public musical instrument museum, it offers a unique opportunity to explore the rich diversity of global musical heritage. The first floor showcases instruments from Japan and Asia, while subsequent levels feature collections from Africa, South America, Europe, and beyond. Visitors can also enjoy hands-on exhibits and even participate in performances at this immersive destination.
If you're a musician then you could easily spend hours here. There's two floors and it's absolutely covered in instruments of all origins and time periods across the world. We really enjoyed the Hands On room where you could try some of the instruments out as well. Anyone would enjoy this museum :) I also have no idea why people are saying it's crowded. We were there most of the afternoon on a Saturday and it wasn't crowded at all. Don't let those reviews deter you!

Not a bad museum given the amount of instruments exhibited and price point for entry (¥800). Anybody expecting too much will be disappointed.

Nice experience about music instrument around the world. Take time around 1 hr to take around. Inside there is zone you can try electric drum and other hitting music instrument. Moreover , there is stage for mini concert but day which I went there isn't no perform on that day.

Interesting museum with a wide variety of instruments on show. There are good English language sheets. I enjoyed the section on the development of the piano from the clavichord and the electronic area with many happy memories of synths of old. Can do it in 1 hour if you are in a hurry.

Kento M — Google review
An amazing collection of instruments from around the world. Allow at least 2 hours to look around and to also play on the selection of keyboards (and a drum kit) that are provided for this purpose. Many items are labelled only in Japanese so if you don't speak the language you can use Google lens on your smartphone to identify and understand what each exhibit is. There is a small gift shop on your right as you exit the exhibition space.
Justin K — Google review
This museum should be amazing and it has a fantastic collection. However the displays are oddly arranged, crowded and unpleasant to look at (for the Japanese aesthetic) -- they also result, therefore, in dreadful photos. It's a shame because this could be done so much better.

Excellent exhibit. Staff very gracious. We were fortunate to visit when a 13 piece wind orchestra put on a lovely 35 minute show!

The park features a greenhouse, orchards, and restaurants where guests can indulge in seasonal fruit picking and savor delicious meals. Additionally, there's a winery on-site with an impressive selection of wines to enjoy. The park also boasts a large playground area with fruit-themed equipment for children to enjoy.
🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 A Fun and Fruity Adventure! Hamamatsu Fruit Park is a fantastic place for families and anyone looking to enjoy nature and fresh fruit. The park is beautifully maintained, and there’s a wide variety of seasonal fruits you can pick yourself, which makes the experience truly enjoyable and interactive. The layout is easy to navigate, with plenty of signs and maps. The staff here is incredibly friendly and helpful, ready to explain the best times and methods for picking each type of fruit. The facilities are clean, and there are ample seating areas for a picnic or just a quick rest. We also enjoyed the small playground and some of the rides, which kept the kids entertained. The on-site café offers delicious fruit-based treats and refreshing drinks, making it the perfect way to relax after a day of fruit picking. Overall, a must-visit if you’re in the Hamamatsu area and looking for a memorable outdoor experience. Highly recommended for families, friends, or anyone who loves fresh fruit and nature!

This place is good for kids, there's a lot playground for kids, also there's a place for adults that can enjoy the view of many varieties of fruits. But the time i went here some of fruits is not in season, we can't also try strawberry picking because they have a time limit. So maybe we can go again nextime 😁😅
Rhose R — Google review
Nice place to spend full they with kids. They have various kind of fruit for visitor to pick up all year long. Also a small shop selling local product include beer. Also a big playground for kids. Both free of charge and entry fee charge. For my point of view, no need to entry the charge one, the free park is huge and enough for you kids for half a day.
Nun A — Google review
It's a sprawling complex that even had little stops to drive people around between orchards. In the heat of summer they had a splash water area for children to beat the heat. It was adorable and really helpful with small children. We stayed for glamping and the dinosaur animatromics were very close by so we had an amusing welcome committee. The included empty hand BBQ was really convenient-- simply set the desired timing and they start the grill and then bring drinks and foods. The meat set was quite nice. One of us has an allergy to seafood so they kindly substituted, but shrimp are in the normal set. A nearby restaurant drink bar is available to those staying overnight which helped keep us cool. Absolutely would recommend returning.

Really nice park. We visit this month. Entrance fee is ¥700 per person and ¥1000 for buffet strawberry Its a very nice experience with this fruit park. We can self picking a strawberry it’s delicious.

Awesome scenery. Peaceful vibe. Need car for comfortable access though you can also ride a bus from Hamamatsu station to get there. They offer overnight glamping with breakfast and dinner. Great place to relax.

The Airpark JASDF Hamamatsu Air Base Museum, also known as the Hamamatsu Air Park, is a unique attraction located within Japan's Ministry of Defence. Situated on a working air base, visitors have the opportunity to witness active planes taking off and landing. The museum boasts an extensive collection of military aircraft and offers flight simulators for an immersive experience.
Was raining in Hamamatsu so we decided to check out the air base! Free admission and a few activities to do including dress up and simulator flying. There is even a VR experience for those older than 13. The staff were very friendly and helpful. They helped opened different aircraft exhibition just so our family can have a great photo. My kids 5 and 2 loved the museum.

This air museum is well worth the visit in Hamamatsu. I would give it 5 stars except for the lack of English descriptions on the exhibits. It requires a lot of google-translate to fully understand. Nevertheless I think this is the best place we visited in Hamamatsu. I recommend trying the VR experience of the aerobatic team. Also surprisingly it is completely free.

Great place to explore real fighter jets and helicopters up close. The flight simulator and uniform dress-up were super fun! Staff were kind and helpful. Perfect stop for aviation lovers or families visiting Hamamatsu. Highly recommended!😍
Adarsh K — Google review
This park is very interesting because it has old planes with Japanese stories. There are planes of various sizes and types. If you're lucky, you might witness the aerial displays they put on. There's also a space where you can put on pilot's suits and climb into one of the planes and take photos. It's incredible to see what the planes look like inside and learn about their stories. There's also a small shop where you can buy souvenirs. The parking lot is large and easy to access.

Ryōtan-ji Temple, a serene Zen Buddhist temple founded in 733, is a hidden gem offering a peaceful escape from the urban hustle. The well-tended garden features rock formations and a tranquil pond, making it one of the five famous temples in the northern Lake Hamana area. As you wander through the pathways adorned with cherry blossoms and other flora, you'll be led to the main temple where you must remove your shoes before entering.
A very beautiful temple in Hamamatsu with a simply gorgeous garden surrounding it. The back enclosed garden is exceptionally nice, but you have to pay 500 yen ( adult) to enter. It’s definitely worth it. But the outer gardens are quite nice, too. There were several lavatories. It’s quite an extensive compound.

Quite a trek from Hamamatsu where we were staying, but we thoroughly enjoyed our visit Ryotan Ji Temple. The architecture and garden setting is beautiful. Lots of info in Japanese only. No fee for our visit
Peter O — Google review
One of the most famous temples around this area. Best known for its garden (which is undoubtedly beautiful but relatively small). It is almost an hour away from the nearest station and you need to take a bus if you don't have a car. My opinion is that you might better spend your day in Hamamatsu doing something else closer to the station than come all the way to this place but if you love Japanese temples and their gardens, then definitely do pay a visit.

Nakatajima Sand Dunes, one of Japan's three largest sand dunes, offers a picturesque setting for various recreational activities. Extending 2.48 miles from east to west and approximately 0.6 km from north to south, this sandy attraction is ideal for kite flying, leisurely walks, and bike riding. The area hosts the Hamamatsu Kite Festival and boasts stunning views of the Pacific Ocean at its southern edge.
The Nakatajima Sand Dunes in Hamamatsu are a remarkable sight. A vast desert emerges along the trail, leading to stunning views of the blue sea merging with the sky. Sunlit sands and gentle breezes complete the picturesque scene.

It was much smaller than expected, however it's a beautiful place to visit and relax on the sand and beach. Avoid windy days, we were getting a lot of sand in the face...
Mugi Y — Google review
Incredible views from the Hamamatsu Kite Festival on the Nakatajima Sand Dunes which has about 450 years old history. The energy of the kite battles is an unforgettable experience and the kites on the sky are truly something special.
Mehedi H — Google review
I don’t know why this spot is not famous, it is really great, especially when you walk along the beach. It’s a place where you can clam down and can see how great the nature is. If you like nature and thinking, this gonna be the best place for you!
Joya S — Google review
I had imagined the sand dunes to be quite large, but they were actually more compact than I expected. However, they are one of Japan's three major sand dunes and are famously known as a nesting site for loggerhead turtles.

A good place to enjoy the sea view, but you cannot swim or bathe here.

It is a part of giant sea wall to protect Hamamatsu city from tsunami when there's a big water movement, especially triggered by Nankai Trough. The funding comes from the big housing company, Ichijou Komuten, and supported by other corporates & local government. They planted the mangrove trees and keep the sand dunes there to reserve its natural environment. It's beautiful and keep the people safe living behind the wall. The coastal beach area is also georgous, completed with the giant park close to it.

Very poor English website telling people operation hours from 0930 to 1730, but we were denied for service at 1613 as last schedule today had been departed at 1610... Somehow 🇯🇵 Japanese 🎌 official website did state 1610 last schedule, very disappointed and obviously foreigners are not welcomed... Ended up we took 30min boat 🚢⛵ cruise very pleasing trip indeed 👍🏻

Kanzan-ji Temple is a modest Buddhist temple known for its picturesque hiking paths and stunning views of Lake Hamana. The temple grounds, called Tateyama, stretch up the hill and feature impressive statues, including a 16-meter-high Kannon Bodhisattva, as well as a cave where the temple was reportedly founded in the 9th century. Visitors can also explore nearby attractions such as botanical gardens, amusement parks, and hot springs.
Tachi-San instructed me today, as I did my first ever Zen Meditation in the beautiful Kanzan-Ji Temple. First, he kindly explained to me why people practice this kind of meditation in the first place and enlightened me about the life of the Buddha and how the Buddha picked up Zen-Meditation as an answer to the suffering in the world. Then, he instructed me to sit down on a pillow and taught me the appropriate way to sit. He put up small space dividers to ensure I wouldn’t be distracted by anything in sight. Furthermore, these also ensured I wouldn’t have to think about people possibly seeing me. I was let to practice the Zen meditation for 40 minutes. After 20 minutes he kindly checked in, to see if I was doing okay. All in all it was a fun experience and I am very thankful for the kind supervision of somebody who knows so much about this practice. Thank you very much for letting me meditate with you!

This is a perfect place not only for those who would like to unwind, but also for those would like to reconnect with nature and its Creator. Beautiful place with scenic view on the top overlooking the Hamanako lake. The big image of Buddha on the top of the hill is really impressive. A good place also for a little hiking with a picnic.

This temple is closely connected with Shingensyu and Soudosyu. And now it is said that it’s popular as the god of matchmaking. Please be careful to go up and down the steep stairs.

Another pleasant surprise to discover our ryokan is located at the famous Kanzanji-Ji temple. It was a nice climb to the hill, it is one loop if you follow the foot path and a great view of the Hamana Lake. There are many awesome sights along the foot path, the gigantic big Sho Kanzeon Bosatsu Mt. Tateyama, a small mountain; Goddess of Mercy (Guan Shi Yin Pusa), various Buddha stones along the footpath with stacked stones. It was a very enjoyable stroll.

Kanzanji Temple is a historic and revered temple founded by Kobo Daishi, a place that has welcomed people for over 1,200 years. The history of this temple has not been a smooth journey. It has been struck by fires and wars on numerous occasions, almost losing everything each time. Yet, it has risen again and again, as if reflecting our own human spirit in overcoming life's hardships and adversities. The "Exorcism Kannon" enshrined in the main hall has quietly watched over people's struggles, casting away their misfortunes with a compassionate heart. When we join our hands in prayer at this temple, we don't just seek blessings; we also gain the courage to face any adversity. Beyond your prayer lies a breathtaking view that will leave you speechless. When you gaze upon this scenery with a pure heart, a clear light will fill your own heart, just like the sky reflected on the surface of the lake.

Ryugashido Cavern is a massive and ancient limestone cave, discovered in the 1980s and estimated to be over 250 million years old. Stretching over 1,000 meters, it features stunning multi-colored limestone formations, enormous stalactites adorning the ceiling, and a remarkable 30-meter underground waterfall known as the Golden Waterfall. The cave offers an immersive experience with small ponds and puddles along with a store selling fossils and gemstones.
You have to enter $1000Yen to experience the caves. Can be slippery dark and narrow so be careful. Along the close to 500 metres route you will see natural exhibits with some description. Some were just awesome and you wouldn't believe they are natural. The history of earth was discovered through these rocks before humans even existed. The souvenir shop has many crystals for you to buy. No proper restaurant here but you can get some of their local snacks. They have clean toilets too. It's an out of public transportation place, there's a bus stop below the mountain. You can take bus 45 back to Hamamatsu Eki. You won't be able to flag a cab or book via Uber or Go Cab app from this place. You can either rent a car or a driver. Or take public bus.

You can see bats at the entrance of the cave. If you take a step inside, the fantastic space will expand. The stalactites formed over many years are very beautiful and romantic. After leaving the cave, you can enjoy shopping at the souvenir corner.

It’s a fantastic and comfortable cave. I went there in summer, in August. It was very cold, around 18℃. The view was strange, and I understood why it is a natural treasure.
岡村太郎(Okamura T — Google review
Water dripping down from the cave onto clothing, quite annoying but it's fine. The actual popular spots are good and special. The bats are in a separate cage so they don't fly around. The stalagmites are not big but are interesting to see and there is many small ponds and puddles. The giant waterful in the cave is a great sight. The store sells fossils and gemstones such as amethyst and quartz. Would recommend, but expect to get a little wet in the cave.

The park features thrilling rides and games suitable for all ages. Visitors can also enjoy a wave pool with a giant tilting bucket and waterfall. While the park may not be as crowded as larger amusement parks, it offers great views of the town and lake from some of its rides.
Spending weekend here making your vibes good. It's an amusement park for kids and adult also😁 so much fun and exciting. You can enjoy the unlimited rides. This is my 3rd amusement park i went in Japan 🎡🎠🎢

A family amusement park in a beautiful setting. There are plenty of rides and attractions for all ages, with a nice restaurant in the main building. You pay for an all day passport which wasn't too badly priced. The day I came it had been raining in the morning and only the Mega Coaster opened after the rain, so it was disappointing that the Mini coaster never opened with not much information. There is also a small games arcade in the main centre building. This park also allows dogs (in nappies 😆)
Charlotte B — Google review
Great amusement park for kids to enjoy the day. The daily pass was a great deal and the season pass is worth it if you go at least 3 times a year. Can bring in your own food and beverage which is always nice. Not a popular as larger amusement parks so the wait for rides are no that long.
Bill G — Google review
Small amusement park with not many people (but we did go there on a cloudy and pretty cold day). The rides aren't super great but some offer wonderful views of the town and its lake. Some of the staff are very nice, especially the roller coaster staff. The roller coaster is fun too and there is no queue so that's a plus.

Nestled in the heart of Hamamatsu, Suzuki Plaza is a captivating museum that chronicles the fascinating journey of one of Japan's most iconic companies. Established in 1909, Suzuki initially made its mark as a loom manufacturer before evolving into a powerhouse known for its motorcycles, cars, and outboard motors. The museum offers an engaging exploration across multiple floors; one dedicated to the rich history and development of Suzuki’s diverse products while another delves into factory production processes and global operations.
A great museum that showcases the history of Suzuki, how things are produced and a lot of their different models. There were a lot of information in English, both signs and videos in English. Super easy to get to since it's really close to a train station. I would recommend this if you're in the area.

Had a nice visit to the museum. Interesting to see the origin story (textile weaving machines, some with punchcards) and the eventual evolution to motorcycles and small cars. Three foors with 3F having historic examples and 2F showing the design and manufacturing process. The first floor has some modern models, sales brochures, and some trinkets for sale to take home from the visit.

Nukumori No Mori is a charming village-themed attraction nestled in a forest, featuring whimsical stone cottages that house various shops and cafes. Founded by an architect about twenty years ago, this quaint little village exudes a fairytale-like ambiance with its quirky architectural style reminiscent of Ghibli films. The space offers a quiet and mysterious atmosphere akin to a small fairyland in medieval Europe.
Definitely worth a visit! I stopped by here for a few hours on my way back to Tokyo (from Kyoto). I love the whimsical vibes. To me, it's a cross between Hobbitton and Ghibli. Lots of cute cafes and a couple restaurants. And many small shops selling handmade goods. Bring cash! Entrance tickets are cash or PayPay only. Some shops are cash only.

This small town is very beautiful and charming. It is a very pleasant place to walk around and take pictures. The architectural detail is incredible. It also has a place with owls and other animals to interact with. There are great restaurants, including a very good Italian one with delicious pizza. The parking lot is not far away and is very large. During the weekends it is a little crowded, so it may take a while for the restaurants to have tables available. The park also has shops with handicrafts.

A little different from what I expected looking at the pictures. Mostly a collection of small stores selling hand made things and food stores. If you are into the above you will probably have a good time, but otherwise you might as well skip this in your trip, considering the time and cost factor.
Marvin B — Google review
It’s quite small but very beautiful and it was fun taking pictures and going to the café. They also had a nice lunch menu so I think it would be a good idea to have lunch here as well. I’m not really sure how the public transportation is because I took my car but I don’t think it’s that great so it might be a little bit difficult to access without a car. I saw a tour company with a lot of tourists as well so maybe that’s way to go there as well. The entrance fee was ¥500 per adult and there were a few shops inside the area. There was also a place where you could play with animals like owls but would cost additional money. Overall I really enjoyed it and I would like to go back to try the other cheesecake and pastries that they have.

Its a small but quaint place near the hamamatsu flower park. The small, picturesque houses or cottages are either souvenir shop or a cafe. We also ate on the cafe that specializes on cheesecake ( Yumm..) If you like to take pictures of cute stuff, you will enjoy it here. If you are foreigner who DOES NOT speak Japanese, you may opt to pass the galleria ticket. It basically explains that the 1st house was refurbished to be cafe and some history of the place. Additionally, the establishment offers original sweets featuring eel pie, adding a unique twist to its delectable treats. In addition to the factory tour, guests can also enjoy free entry and parking as well as complimentary tastings.
Interesting factory and you can see behind the scene of the making of Unagi Pie from behind a glass window. The entrance is free and they give you a small gift of Unagi pie at the entrance. On the website, it is mentioned that you can reserved a special tour. The place is pretty small and you can explore the place in 10-15 minutes. Other than exploring, there is a video you can watch about the factory itself (I believe it was all in Japanese and no (English)subtitle). There is a nice cafe that was the best and unique experience of the entire visit of this place. Lastly, there is a souvenir shop. Outside there is also a truck where they sell ice desserts. As everyone mentioned, it is recommend to visit here if you have a car. The place is quite far from tge nearest station. I walked from the factory to the closest Aeon shopping mall and it takes about 30 minutes. The closes bus stop takes you around 20 minutes walk up and down hill( not to mention the bus comes very seldom). I would not recommend to go here the way I did (by bus&foot).

I love Unagi Pie. It's a moving experience to think that the thing I eat all the time was born here. I bought this and that on the souvenir floor and was very satisfied. Very fun and interesting experience but a few things to note: 1. It's very far from the train station. You would have to take a taxi which is about a 10-15 min drive back and forth. 2. Overall experience only takes 30min. It's a small place. 3. Not fully english friendly However, it's still fun to see the factory in motion and the main attraction is the cafe with the yummy desserts! Of course, make sure to buy some treats to take home!

Fun place to visit as you can see the factory in operation, people and robots working together. Entry and parking is free, and they even gave us a small tasting set. To my surprise the unagi pie actually contains some eel, and also some garlic. Still it tastes great.

Who loves unagi pie? It's a beautiful and clean factory that you can visit or tour. They give you a free Unagi pie when you enter at the factory. Such a great experienced.
Rhose R — Google review
*If you want unagi pie confections without having to walk or taxi out into an agricultural zone, every major train station and tourist stop sells these snacks.* No matter how I tried to route it, Google Maps couldn't provide me with a feasible route via bus to get here, with the closest bus stop to the Unagi Pie Factory in front of an Aeon Shopping Mall. From this stop, it'll take 30 minutes to walk to the factory through farmland with some unpleasant overgrowth on sidewalks. The factory itself was pretty neat; witnessing the process of creating and baking this famous sweet snack was fascinating. The restaurant upstairs incorporates the namesake snack into every conceivable dish, so expect dessert dishes to exceed your expectations in terms of sweetness. The gift shop on the ground floor of the factory also has some seasonal or exclusive snack items.

Free admission. Great place to visit if you play instruments. Learn some history of Yamaha and try out some instruments. Plenty of piano to play.
Ningnat — Google review
A really interesting and well equipped review of all that is Yamaha. The ability to try many of the instruments a real plus point. I have always wanted to play a Marimba for example and which pianist would turn down the opportunity to play a Yamaha concert grand. Not all great though for example drums not well covered at all. Finally some issues for international visitors. The audio guide had some missing and mis labelled English files and the final guest survey has clearly not been tested properly as many questions labels are just in Japanese. For me this lack of quality was a disappointment. Overall enjoyed the visit though.

Got turned away and was told we need a reservation!!? Some reviews here mentioned NOT needing a reservation and this was not this obvious from their website. Gate folks said they were full even though a larger party than ours (of two people) were checking out as we were discussing with them; such is policy apparently: no reservation, no entrance. I rarely review negatively on the substance of things outside of the actual venue merits but making a special trek out there fruitlessly needs to be factored into the overall null experience. Perhaps this has been a change due to the height of tourist season(?).

The museum offers various attractions in warmer seasons, including kids' activities where they can create their own personalized decorated wind-up musical box. The Hamanako Orgel Museum is right across the ropeway from the PalPal amusement park, so I recommend getting the Hamanako 2-Day Pass, which gives you unlimited rides on the ropeway, buses, trains, and cruises, plus a discount on your admission to the museum. Due to its proximity to PalPal, it's a good place to stop in if you're bringing your kids to the amusement park. The music box building is probably the star attraction, in my opinion. Since all of the songs are by Japanese artists, unless you're familiar with J-pop and/or can read Katakana, you may have to just pick a couple at random and see which sounds good - you can preview the songs before you build. Confusingly, music boxes and other items can be purchased from the gift shop via credit card, but the admission tickets are cash only. It’s worth noting that the third floor gallery is not accessible by elevator, but all other floors are.

Great place if you're interested in wind up musical organs. Excellent views on rooftop level, not so pleasant on a cold winters day atop viewing scenic beauty. Warmer seasons many attractions open for enjoyment. Kids activities lept them occupied in making their own personal decorated wind up musical box. Ropeway ride up to Hamanako Orgel seemed shorter than it looked but the views are awesome from the cablecar.

Nestled in the picturesque region of Kosai, Japan, the Arai-sekisho Barrier Ruins stand as a testament to the country's rich history during the Edo period. Established in 1858 by the Tokugawa shogunate, this checkpoint was vital for regulating trade and controlling movement along the Tokaido Highway, which connected Edo (now Tokyo) with Kyoto.

(Translated by Google) This is a facility where you can see the remains of an old checkpoint. When you think of checkpoints, you might imagine them being located on a mountain pass, but this is on flat ground. The facility itself is completely flat. However, this makes sense when you consider the terrain blocked by Lake Hamana. The museum also explains old anecdotes, such as how it was an important checkpoint on the Tokaido, and how some people, especially women, would try to bypass Lake Hamana to get past here by going around to the north. There is a set ticket that includes the Kinokuniya Museum, which is about a three-minute walk away. There is no parking lot there, so we were advised to park here and walk over. There were also toilets in the parking lot. The Hamamatsu Science Museum is a recently renovated science center that offers interactive and kid-friendly installations focusing on nature, technology, and spaceflight. While it may not be the top priority for most visitors, it's a great option if you're traveling with young ones. The museum features six themes covering topics such as nature, space, and sound, along with a planetarium and regularly changing special exhibitions.
Very interactive for children. Plenty of experiments and models to keep the kids engaged. We only planned for 90 minutes and could have easily done longer. It's a great museum and an easy walk from the station.

Higher English rate on signage and descriptions than a typical Japanese location. You'd still have difficulty with the experiences if you don't already understand the phenomena being showcased though. Facilities were nice and a good amount of interactivity.

Great museum with interactive exhibits for kids and families. Some of the corporate sponsored exhibits weren't the most interesting, but there were enough cool things to keep kids interested from morning to about 2. The science demonstrations every hour were cool too and changed throughout the day. They were in Japanese only, but were very visual demonstrations so still great for non-Japanese speakers. Finally, there's a little cafe here and an area to eat food you brought as an alternative.

The historic remains of a 16th-century castle, known as Futamata Castle, showcase stone walls and a surrounding moat. The castle tower boasts an ancient stone wall that exudes a sense of the past. A short walk from the parking lot leads to Honmaru, while further exploration along Ohorikiri takes visitors to the bank beside the Tenryu River. Continuing beyond this point brings one to Tobayama Castle, which also holds numerous remnants worth exploring.

The museum showcases over 850 exhibits including exquisite 19th century European pianos and horns.
An Excellent Stay with Stunning Views I had a wonderful experience at Okura Act City Hotel Hamamatsu. The location is incredibly convenient—right next to Hamamatsu Station, which made traveling around super easy. The room was spacious, clean, and offered a breathtaking view of the city and Mount Fuji on a clear day. The staff were warm, courteous, and always ready to help, even with limited English. I appreciated the attention to detail and the calm, upscale atmosphere throughout the hotel. Breakfast was delicious, with a good mix of Japanese and Western options. If you're visiting Hamamatsu, whether for business or leisure, I highly recommend this hotel for its comfort, convenience, and hospitality. Would definitely stay again!

They don't want people using the observation floor, lol. It's almost impossible to find. Despite many signs and maps around, none of them mention the observation floor (I can also read Japanese). So I went to the info desk, but no one was there! Lastly, I checked their website, and it mentions every feature of the place EXCEPT the observation floor! It seems like they just want it to be a hidden amenity for hotel guests and don't want tourists overcrowding it and the elevators. The other reviews say they even rose the price from 500 yen to 1,000 for non-hotel guests! The building itself is nice with a few public outdoor spaces.

Takatenjin Castle Ruins is a formidable mountain fortress that witnessed intense conflicts between the Takeda and Tokugawa armies during the 16th century. The hiking trails leading to the ruins are well-maintained, and visitors can easily imagine themselves in ancient times with informative boards scattered around. (Translated by Google) I'd like to start by saying that I was very happy when Tamori-san said something like "It's the basics" when introducing the diorama of Takatenjin Castle in the Tamori Club. My first time climbing the castle was on a bus trip in elementary school. The teachers at that time made a very reluctant decision. Naturally, it was too difficult for elementary school students and it ended up being just a hike, but I was a tomboy at the time, but I had a foundation for loving castles, and I talked enthusiastically about it with one of the smartest kids in the world. When I became an adult, I used to visit the castle every year in early March to build up my physical strength. I hiked with such a light-hearted feeling from the eastern peak where the main castle is located to the highest peak of the western peak where Takatenjin Shrine is located. In fact, from the area around Ninomaru, down the western ridge, the best civil engineering technology of the time is preserved in the best condition, like a textbook on mountain castles, with Takeda castle building techniques galore. It is a treasure-like space for mountain castle lovers. On the other hand, the area is a little more difficult due to the many defensive irregularities, so if you are not confident in your physical strength, you should not push yourself. This is as far as I went, climbing from the Otemon Gate, but due to time constraints I cut out the round trip from the back gate side and the area where Takeda rode horseback along the ridge to convey news of the fall of the castle to Kai. So I took my time going around, taking about an hour and a half. Even so, I was surprised to pass by someone even in the evening, when I used to not meet anyone. There were many cars with license plates from other prefectures, and I realized once again that castles are really booming (lol).

(Translated by Google) While it's not a particularly famous mountain castle, there's quite a lot to see and it really left the impression of being a mountain castle. There are two parking lots, one at the north entrance and one at the south entrance, but I recommend the north entrance, as it has more parking spaces and wider stairs. Of course, the castle itself is no longer there, but remnants of the original site remain everywhere, and when I climbed to the ruins of the castle tower, I was impressed, realizing that building a mountain castle here made sense. While the grounds are fairly well maintained, there are still some slippery patches due to fallen leaves and stones, so sneakers are a good choice. There are also toilets and benches scattered around, so you can take your time exploring. I spent a little over an hour exploring the area. It seems there's also a history of the battle for Takatenjin Castle, and history buffs were excited. But even if you don't know much history, I think you'll enjoy it.

It's an incredible mountain castle, and not as tiring as Bitchu Matsuyama Castle, but the stairs were quite steep. I was surprised to see a sacred carp in the crescent well along the way. It hid inside the tube, though. From the remains of the main citadel, the view of the tea fields below was spectacular. I'm glad I came. 10 million ryo was donated to Lord Motonobu. I was also surprised to find a water tank and drinking faucet. I sprayed some water on the castle soldiers to keep them thirsty, and then turned off the faucet. (Translated by Google) A must-visit for mountain castle lovers! Not only is it home to the history of the numerous battles between the Tokugawa and Takeda, but it is also full of charm as a mountain castle. I entered from the back entrance, and on the way there was a small crescent-shaped pool-like pond with a rope stretched across it, and for some reason there was only one goldfish in it. Once you reach the ridge, the mountain castle becomes quite labyrinthine. In the area of the main enclosure, there is a stone cave where loyal samurai stayed, the main enclosure and several other enclosures, and there are also spots with good views. From the well on the pass, visit the Nishinomaru (Takatenjin Shrine) and then head into the intricate group of enclosures. If you can navigate the narrow paths and enclosures with moats and vertical moats well, you will have made a complete loop. It is truly a maze, and it is exciting. Once you return to the well, it is only a short distance down to the back entrance. If you take your time and enjoy the highlights, it will take about 1.5 hours. A very good score. If you download the AR at the foot of the mountain onto your smartphone and scan it at various points, you can enjoy imaginary images that recreate what it was like at the time.

(Translated by Google) [1,300 years ago, this Gansui-dera Temple was opened by Gyoki Shonin, who carved a statue of Yakushi Nyorai, praying for the healing of people's illnesses. One hundred years later, during Sakanoue Tamuramaro's expedition to the east, the dragon god of the Tenryu River was transformed into a beautiful woman named Tamasode Hime through the virtues of Yakushi Nyorai, and fell in love with Tamuramaro. Afterwards, the child born between the two grew up to be a fine general, and prayed for the salvation and happiness of the people, and enshrined an amulet-warming Jizo statue inscribed with the soul of the mother (Ryujin) at Gansu-dera Temple.] The principal image of Yakushi Nyorai and the principal image of Yakushi Nyorai, Ajizoson, the guardian of evil spirits, are enshrined in the main hall, but as they are secret Buddhas, they are only open to the public during festivals. Princess Tamasode, who is the incarnation of the dragon god of the Tenryu River, is a goddess of warding off evil spirits. Anjizoson is a very rare Buddha whose mother who gave birth to her child was turned into a Buddha statue. Since ancient times, it has been said that ``Ganmizu-dera Temple protects the house.'' Because she is a mother, she protects the house, which brings happiness to the family, such as family safety, prosperous business, and warding off evil spirits, and because she is a woman, she is said to have great merits for the prosperity of the family, such as finding a match, praying for safe childbirth, and conceiving a child. There is also Mizuko Jizo, which can be visited at any time by those who wish to sublimate the regret of a miscarriage or stillbirth, which will never be forgotten. Even if you don't have any particular faith, or if you just want to pray to the Buddha, the Buddhas here will welcome you kindly. Weekdays were less popular and comfortable. There are so many mosquitoes. There are several spacious parking lots on site. In the large parking lot (Sakura no Sato Park), you can often hear the sounds of warblers and buzzards. It is connected to the Negata ruins and offers a panoramic view of the site where Stone Age Hamakita people and tiger bones were excavated. No chopsticks required. Park
Hamamatsu Castle Park is a serene and picturesque place featuring koi ponds, cherry blossoms, and the reconstructed 16th-century Hamamatsu Castle. The park pays homage to Tokugawa Ieyasu and boasts around 370 cherry trees, making it a popular spot for cherry blossom viewing. The lush grounds of the castle create a tranquil atmosphere, with Japanese pines and maples adding to its beauty. Visitors can explore a museum dedicated to the castle's history and its famous resident.
Hamamatsu Castle, a remarkable historical site in Hamamatsu City, is well worth a visit. My Japanese professor friend took me there during a business meeting with him and other professors. Despite its relatively small size, the castle houses a fascinating collection of historical artifacts relating to the city's past. Conveniently located a short walk from the Municipal Hall, it's surrounded by beautifully landscaped gardens. A powerful telescope on the top floor offers stunning panoramic views of the city.

This is a reconstructed castle but an important piece of Japan's history as Tokugawa Ieyasu spent his youth here. The castle is small. Plan for about 30 minutes. There are other buildings which will require additional time. It may be quite beautiful during the spring and the autumn time. Steps are there so many not be senior friendly.

Very dog friendly castle garden area. Can't bring your pet dog into the castle obviously. I really enjoyed it and my dog did too. Lots of areas with rock steps for them to get some good exercise on a walk.

The Hamamastu Castle Park was easy to access by bus (10 minutes from Hamamatsu Station). The castle is interesting and has a few items and pictures of Tokugawa Shogun on display. Although the original castle and entrance has new modern construction, which is far away from the castle, you can still see a glimpse of the original design in the distance. Recommended.

I did not originally plan on coming but decided to check it out when it was right in front after getting off of a bus. I'm so glad I did as it was such a beautiful space to walk through. Although the castle itself is not as big as some other ones in Japan, the entire property around was one of the best in my opinion.

I wish we had the option to give hundreds of stars! Don't miss the opportunity to visit this place, but take your time to walk around and to enjoy the Japanese culture. Inside the Castle they have a lot of things exposed including Samurai's armors. Outside, they have a beautiful park, perfect to enjoy with your family or to take beautiful pictures. They also have a very good Starbucks there, but it's crowded during the weekend.
Karina M — Google review
Arguably the best part of this city. The park features all the staples of a Japanese garden attraction; Koi fish, a reconstruction of a castle, well maintained plants and trees, people milling around peacefully, some regrettable eyesores, vending machines aesthetic toilets, 0 bins, parking directed by those old guys that wear the caps and a starbucks. The castle, while looking like a slightly downscaled model of an authentic one, stands relatively high and so is viewable from many parts of the surrounding gardens. The most beautiful area of the gardens are the staggered koi ponds which cascade gently downwards into one another through small waterfalls to form a main body of water which, during autumn and spring, reflects the vivid leaves and blossoms of the trees whose boughs hang outstretched over it. Based on the beauty and focality of this particular spot, I would strongly reccommend visiting during the aformentioned seasons. In Winter the area is still pretty and far quieter, but comes with a slightly sad, desaturated sort of look which explains the tendency for renovation/cleaning to be carried out during these months. A large sports oval can be found towards the Southern end of the gardens along with an attractive, if not slightly out of place Starbucks, nestled among the trees. The oval, seemingly unable to decide between dirt or grass has opted for a mix of both, which unfortunately has only allowed for the negative aspects of both terrains to come through. The dirt isn't plentiful enough to conduct proper ball games, while the grass is so patchy that it looks ugly and bare. A thick, closely cropped, tougher grass would suit the surrounding foliage and general aesthetic far better, while also being hardy enough to withstand the ball games and frequent use from visitors. On the topic of downsides it is neccesary to discuss the Hotel Concorde. The planning permission for the ridiculous, towering, domino-like abomination must have come with the largest bribe in city history to allow its construction. Either that or it was approved at a time when those responsible still imagined that Hamamatsu would swell to include similarly sized buildings nearby, effectively watering down the contrast between it and its neighbours. Regrettably this 20-or-so-story monolith which boasts 'less than a 1 minute walk to the castle gardens' on its website has become the most unfortunate aspect of the area. Be advised, your authentic Japanese holiday snaps of the cherry blossoms and castle vistas will likely, come complete with a looming Hotel Concorde somewhere in the background. For people living here and tourists alike this is likely the best place to spend your free time in this city. There is nothing in particular about the gardens that sets it aside from those found throughout Japan, but for a tough, concrete, industrial city like Hamamatsu, this area serves for me at least, as a place to slow down a little, to watch kids playing in the sun with their families, to catch up with old friends or just re-explore and check in with the seasons and remind yourself why you love Japan.

The Hamamatsu City History Museum is a treasure trove of local history, featuring exhibits that span thousands of years from prehistoric times to the modern era. Visitors can marvel at the mounted skeleton of a Naumann's elephant, ancient tools and ornaments unearthed from ruins and tombs, and much more.
Although it’s a small museum compared with some big museums I have been to before, my feeling after viewing all the exhibitions is the same! This is a place you must visit in the city, try to enjoy the design of the whole routes, following the instructions, then after the whole trip, you can get a feeling of gaining. I bought a small 玉 at the entrance, I will try to make it by myself!

The exhibits trace the activities of people in Hamamatsu City from the Paleolithic period. The large skeleton of a Naumann's elephant is truly impressive, and is so impressive that it captivates not only children but also adults. The specimens from the shell mounds of the Shijimizuka ruins on the premises are packed with clam shells, as their name suggests, so they must have been harvested in large quantities. I'm sure I'm not the only one who got hungry just thinking about the taste of the shells, as I've never seen them this big these days... I'm sure I'm not the only one who got hungry just thinking about the taste of the shells. The booths from the Middle Ages onwards are also full of things to see for fans of Japanese history. I'm not sure if the exhibits are arranged in a spacious manner, but I was able to view them without getting too tired. The receptionist was very friendly and explained the parking area to me, and even though it's a city facility, the volunteers also gave me a tour. It's been a while since I last visited, but I was reminded of the depth of Hamamatsu. It's hard to believe that there are Naumann's elephants in Hamamatsu. There was also a display of a copy of the "Jūrokuya Diary," a book that had been handwritten by someone over 400 years ago. It recorded the author's stay at the Hikuma Inn, and his stories of traveling on foot in the past were truly mind-boggling. The story about Hamamatsu's canals was also very interesting, and I was reminded of the retro Showa-era exhibits, which brought back memories. Hiking area
Kosai Mountains Trailhead offers a refreshing trek with stunning views of Mt. Fuji and Lake Hamana. Despite being a low mountain, it provides an enjoyable climbing experience for beginners to intermediate hikers. With various trail options, hikers can explore the diverse nature spanning Shizuoka and Aichi prefectures. The shortest route takes about an hour, while longer trails are also available. Free parking near Shinike Pond at the foot of the mountain provides convenient access for climbers.
(Translated by Google) I came here for exercise. Although it is not paved, it has been modified to make it easier to walk on. On the way to the observation deck, you will be blocked by large stones. The view after climbing was amazing. Buddha rock? The slope became steeper and I turned back near the rock. The path continues deep into the forest, but I will try again after preparing my equipment. (Translated by Google) This is a hiking course that is easy to follow even for beginners. The parking lot and mountain trail are well-maintained, and there are quite a few people, so I feel safe. Since it is a mountain range, there are many routes you can take, and you can turn back and enjoy the long course from Kosai to Toyohashi. Some people were out running or walking their dogs. You can even see Mt. Fuji from the open point, which takes about an hour to climb. However, there are no restrooms along the way, so it may be necessary to stop at the parking lot.

There are some parts along the way that look a bit questionable, but the trails are generally well-maintained, and the steep slopes have been scraped into steps with shovels, probably because someone maintains them regularly. Although there are no advanced courses like Chainba or Razor, I think it's fun at the beginner-intermediate level. Miyakoda Park is a vast adventure playground located near Fruit Park Tokinosumika. It features wooden jungle gyms, expansive lawns, seasonal flowers, and an artificial turf tobogganing slope. The park offers opportunities for biking, jogging, and relaxing by the lake. Visitors can enjoy free drinking water fountains throughout the park and engage in various outdoor activities with friends and family.
This park is epic for biking or jogging! The lake area is super chill for relaxing, and they've got free drinking water fountains all over the place. Perfect spot to go with friends, play some games and enjoy the sun.

Swimming pool
Gym
Hamamatsu City comprehensive swimming facilities offer a top-notch experience with well-maintained pools and clean changing rooms. While the fee is slightly higher than other public pools, the facility provides a stress-free environment for weekday night swims. The indoor pool operates year-round with controlled water temperature, making it comfortable for swimming. Additionally, the center features an outdoor pool for children to enjoy during summer and even includes a hot spring.
World-class swimming facility. A little on the expensive side @ 750yen per session. Their indoor pool is open all-year from 0900 to 2100 (except on sundays - till 1930 only).
Srinidhi S — Google review
The pool is clean. That is the good part. Now these are things that are not good: 1) If you wanna buy from the vending machines you can use card, but if you want to enter the pool you must pay cash only. This information is not anywhere to be known in advance and there is no cash machines either. 2) They close in some random dates, something like some Mondays and bank holidays - this information is also not public and I’ve driven to this place to find it closed at 4 pm in the afternoon, many other people were also surprised the place was closed. 3) there are some bizarre rules, the strangest one being that they make you come out of the pool on the hour for 10 minutes, no matter what time you got in. There is no reason or explanation why everyone must get out of the pool at the same time each hour. I could go on and on… in summary, facilities are good but the management of the place needs much improvement so it could be a friendly and welcoming place.

(Translated by Google) The facility was clean and had a jacuzzi and bath. I think the changing rooms are also well-cleaned. The water depth of the 25 meter pool is 1 meter 35, which is enough to hide my face, so I think the water depth could be a little shallower. The shower corner before entering the pool smelled of ammonia! I had to hold my breath and use the shower. I think it would be better to remind people to use the toilet thoroughly before entering the pool. Especially if you are traveling with children, please be thorough. It was like being in the shower inside the toilet. I heard that after the renovation, tattoos are now allowed✨️ I asked the staff and they said it's OK as long as you cover it up, but on the day I went there, there were people who weren't covering it up at all and people with the Kurikara crest all over their body, so it seems like the hiding rule has already collapsed👍 You might get scolded at first, but if you invite all the Brazilians who came to the new house and fill the place with tattooed party people, soon there will be fewer people without tattoos👌 Restaurants have gone up in price and the quality has gone down, so prepare your own meals!! I don't know the details, but since the staff had been playing there for half a year, I'm sure the staff are all amateurs now😳 If you want to cover your body in tattoos, now's your chance✨️✨️ Let's invite all our tattooed friends and go together!!
