Did a loop route in a hot & humid day walking thie trail a bit tired & pain as the path up & down with no reason. Just inside the hill with not so much view. But hilltop quite good view. Wet day maybe a bit hard but dry that was easy. p.s. maybe too many people love to do trekking at here. So many small/fork path that made you went into wrong side sometimes.

Miri City Fan Recreation Park is a sprawling 26-acre urban public space that offers a variety of recreational activities. Visitors can enjoy sports facilities, an amphitheater, swimming pool, and even a library within the park. It's a popular destination for both locals and tourists looking to unwind and engage in leisurely pursuits. Whether you're interested in sports or simply want to relax amidst greenery, Miri City Fan has something for everyone.
I was exploring Miri on foot and stumbled across this park. It was a Friday morning and I was surprised that there was absolutely no one except cleaners. Good to know that it’s being maintained well because it’s a great facility. I really enjoyed looking at the “amphitheater”. A really big place for performances, must be amazing at night!
Ariff S — Google review
I am having a walk at this park. It was super relaxing and chilling. I saw a group of student are having a school activities at this park. It was a perfect place for them because this place is well-maintained and also clean. The cleaner were dedicated to keep this place clean. Shout out to them all. This park is huge too. I am just keeps following the path. I am definitely will coming back to this park once again. It was a good place to be explore. I love this park.
GaMeR. B — Google review
It's a small park that has Chinese heritage in it. Not busy at all when I visited on a Monday morning. Only saw an uncle with his DSLR. Nice place to jog with plenty of shade from the trees.
Brandon Y — Google review
17/05/25 it good place to do brisk walk. suitable to bring the kids for picnic. it just requires some love with proper and regular maintenance to ensure the park is safe for visitors. love the concept of e-scooter available for rent.
Action D — Google review
Miri City Fan may be an older landmark, but it’s impressively well maintained and remains one of the nicest green spaces in the city. The layout is spacious with landscaped gardens, open lawns, and cultural features that make it a pleasant place to explore. What really stands out is the peaceful atmosphere — it’s very quiet and therapeutic, perfect for a relaxing walk, some light exercise, or simply to unwind. A calming spot in Miri that continues to offer charm and tranquility over the years.
Paul L — Google review
A nice open space but a bit tatty. Gardens need some care and buildings could do with some maintenance. Paved paths for a nice walk.

National park
Nature & Parks
Niah National Park is a renowned national park and prehistoric site that boasts impressive limestone caves and ancient rock paintings. It holds the distinction of being home to the oldest modern human remains in Southeast Asia, dating back 40,000 years, making it one of the most significant archaeological sites globally. Visitors can witness a captivating natural spectacle as swiftlets return to their nests at sunset while bats fly out foraging in the forest.
We had a great time at the Niah Caves. The journey involves a 2‑hour round trip from the park entrance to the caves and another 2 hours exploring the caves. There is no need for a ranger or guide, as there are well‑maintained walkways throughout. Some parts of the caves are dark and require stair climbing, but bringing a torchlight and pacing yourself should make it manageable.
Nathan L — Google review
An amazing visit to walk along the wooden boardwalk and then the series of caves. The walkways are well built but basic with no lighting etc. and unguided. Caves are beautiful and huges but not well cared for like the caves in Mulu. It's definitely worth visiting if you're in Miri.
Vincent O — Google review
Visiting Niah National Park was truly unforgettable! The cave is huge, with such a unique shape, something I never imagined to see. We were so lucky to witness a man climbing inside to collect the bird’s nest,an absolutely amazing experience!
Mariana D — Google review
Amazing Experience! the 10km journey through time walk was peaceful and full of beauty. Leading a stunning caves rich in history and mystery. Well maintained trails, friendly staff and breathtaking views - a true Sarawak gem worth visiting! Tips for visitors : Bring a Torchlight, good non slip shoes, and plenty of water for the 10km journey (hand cloves optional) and a small tower also help. The trail can be wet during raining season but it's worth every step!
Karen — Google review
It was an unplanned trip to Niah Cave, so we weren't fully prepared (no shoes or torchlights), but it's not really compulsory just good to have for precaution.. The walk was easy, about 6km back and forth, and even my 9-year-old son managed it without trouble.. Totally worth it to see the nature and explore the cave! It's amazing to imagine how ancient people once lived there.. The only downside was the boat ride across the river.. We were waiting on the other side before 5pm for the boat to pick us up, but when we got across, the boatman asked for extra payment, saying the rate increases after 5pm.. Honestly, that felt like a rip-off..
Izi G — Google review
A must visit if you are natural lover. This cave is easy to access with all the platforms build for you. If you coming to Miri or Bintulu, take the Pan Borneo highway to reach within 1 1/2 hour. A highly recommended place to go and spend half of the day there
Philip L — Google review
The directions given by the Google was misleading. We ended up going through gravel road (palm oil area) and reached a village. Villagers said yes, we can walked through the side, which was the back side to reach Niah Caves. With no tickets counter, and very scary environment. Whatever happened after we entered will be totally out of record. So we turned back, and drive back to the main road, and lucky to meet a helpful young guy, who helped us search and pinned the location on our map. Yes, we wasted couple of hours drove in and out from the area. The Niah caves was amazing, we enjoyed ourselves exploring the area. Please amend the directions, those people like us driving a non 4WD car was totally felt helpless entering an unfavourable path to this amazing place.
Carmela T — Google review
Entrance fee is rm10 for malaysian adult. Interesting place. This is where you wonder how older native can explore this place. Very smart and brave. Not suitable for those have knee pain and unfit pensioners. U have to walk on wooden platform which is a bit tricky and slippery on rainy day.

Tusan Beach Subis, located about 40 km from Miri City, is renowned for its mesmerizing Blue Tears phenomenon. While it may be challenging to reach without a car, the beach offers a serene and romantic atmosphere, perfect for solo or couple visits. Visitors can savor a refreshing coconut shake while enjoying the calming sea breeze. However, it's important to watch out for steep stairs and be mindful of keeping the beach clean.
Beautiful beach, soooooo beautiful. Thank you Allah for your creation, no words... No more cliff, already went down few years back, anyway Alhamdulillah ya Allah...
Mohd M — Google review
A windy beach, the cliff fell so there's not much to see now. There's a food court but no stalls are open, toilets & parkings are available. Good place to visit at least once.
Damien — Google review
Too bad the rock formation is no longer there, but it's still worth a visit if you like peaceful quiet beach. I don't really like sand in my shoes so I found that little cliff at the beach actually let me enjoy everything I like about the beach (and the breeze) without the things I don't like (sand). There's a friendly stray cat too. Maybe it's just hungry. Won't say it's worth a drive, but if you just happen to be in the area, go have a look. Sure felt better when I leave.
Christopher C — Google review
Windy white sand beach along the south china sea , what’s a pity !! Sad news about iconic naturemade stone, horse head drinking sea water collapsing on February 2020 . However, the facilities at this attraction are quite good condition , multipurpose building with toilets, bath and shower, also food shops are very clean , tidy and spacious. The parking lots are wide and plenty. There is concrete path on the cliff for walking along the cliffs , feeling fresh air and wind.
Chajchawan N — Google review
It is a laid back atmosphere. While Tusan beach boasts stunning views, its not ideal for swimming. Instead, its a serene haven for enjoying the tranquility and breathtaking scenery from the hill above.
Santha J — Google review
The place is quite decent. The facilities such as toilets, eatery are not provided. This is due to the unfinished construction. However the view is quite stunning and this may good place to take a good photo of oceanic and sunset views. However there should be added some safety precutio n especially the cliffs. It way too dangerous especially if visitors who have kids playing around. Overall its a good place and need more good facilities.
NoobGuy83 F — Google review
It is a pity that I did not make it to see the Horse Head Rock. It has collapse a few months ago due to constant erosion caused by strong waves. The edge of the beach is flanked by a cliff. But the cliff is made up mainly of soft sedimentary rock like sandstone and mudstone that could not withstand the constant pounding by the waves. Explore area the area. You can see a few sea caves that is constantly evolving.
Bern — Google review
15 Dec 2019 Went there to take some beautiful pictures but alas like almost all beachs in Malaysia. It was not well maintain. It was dirty and have many litter around. Like a huge pile of rubbish everywhere. The sea itself have plastic or pieces of rubbish in the water. Then there seems to be an ongoing construction there and It was rainy day so expected to be very muddy and slippery when wet. The stairs that go down to the beach are dangerous if not careful cause due to rain and sea some of the cliff have landslide which makes the stairs wobbly and NOT SAFE!! some of the wood are also missing!! The sea is not only polluted with plastic but also looks rough to be swimming in it. Suggest if y'all really want to swim then swim in shallow area. Good some nice pic but didn't stay long even when the light rain stopped cause the environment itself is let say.. Polluted.

The temple's intricate and vibrant architecture makes it a captivating place of worship for visitors. Its historical value is evident as it holds deep cultural significance for the local community.
One of the main historical attraction that you shall drop by when you visit Miri. This local temple is 111 years old and had been built to stop epidemic at that time. Very vibrant colours and dragons, typical of the Taoist temples. It appears that this temple is still not yet complete but is beautiful and worth a visit
Vincent O — Google review
I really enjoyed visiting this temple and it not dawn on me why it was called Tua Pek Kong until I visited!!! There is a large statue of Tua Pek Kong and I've never seen anything quite like it in Malaysia. The temple was under renovation but it looks nearly completed. I particularly enjoyed going up to the first floor as it gave me a great view of the temple rooftop and I could see the colourful roof decorations up close. I would highly recommend this place to visit.
Penang L — Google review
The temple looks beautiful, vibrant with the many colors and location also strategic. There are many shops also close by.
Ahmad M — Google review
Temple is newly decorated, huge and is definitely worth visiting when you are in Miri. The temple also offers 平安米包 which is restricted to one per person.
Vivien P — Google review
(Detailed review below) Ambiance ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Accessibility ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Cost ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Centrally located and near to other local attractions, so not to be missed. There are some ongoing construction works going on in the compound area but the temple itself is open and safe to explore (or to do your worshipping). There is an on-site store that sells prayer materials. Overall, it's a small but beautiful temple steep in a long history. Definitely worth the visit if you’re in the area. Tip: I don’t remember spotting any toilet facilities but there is a public toilet building outside, maybe 200m away.

Miri Crocodile Farm Wildlife Mini Zoo is a 22-acre facility in Miri, Malaysia. It is the first and largest crocodile farm in the northern region of Sarawak. The farm features natural breeding enclosures and sanctuary ponds for over 1,000 Estuarine Crocodiles and Malayan Gharials.
Miri Crocodile Farm & Wildlife Mini Zoo near the Kuala Baram area is a fun family spot with many crocodiles and other animals. You can buy food to feed them, take pictures, and eat nearby. It’s very hot, so bring an umbrella and insect repellent. Kid love it
Sahrul T — Google review
**Amazing Experience at the Crocodile Farm!** I recently visited the Crocodile Farm with my friends, and it was an unforgettable experience! The farm had a variety of crocodiles in different sizes, and it was fascinating to see them up close in such a well-maintained environment. One of the highlights was getting the chance to take photos with some amazing creatures! We got to hold a python (which was surprisingly calm!) and pose with a few beautiful birds. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable, providing us with interesting facts about the animals. Overall, it was a great adventure, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a fun and educational outing. Whether you’re a wildlife enthusiast or just looking for something unique to do, this farm is a must-visit!
Rajat J — Google review
The crocodile zoo was really interesting and informative, and it was great to see these huge reptiles up close. The crocodiles were just hanging out in the water, looking like they were fast asleep, but then sometimes moved really quickly! The farm is nicely landscaped with large lotus and water hyacinth ponds, and it's a bit cooler there thanks to the trees the owners have planted. The grounds are nicely maintained but watch out after heavy rain when a few paths can be a bit slippery. It's obvious that the owners are proud of what they are doing, so I hope they don't take the following as disrespectful or unfair, but I feel I must say that the enclosures for some of the other animals and birds aren't all that great or appropriate, really. I felt sorry for the sun bears; they walked up and down in their enclosure and looked bored and unhappy. Having said that, I did enjoy the visit, not least because there's also a cassowary in one enclosure. I hope the family who run this farm and mini zoo get many more visitors so that some funds become available to upgrade some of the older enclosures. This attraction is a little way north of Miri, and as far as I'm aware there's no public transport. If you don't have your own vehicle, be sure to arrange a pickup with a Grab or taxi beforehand. Not many drivers in the city might be keen to accept a ride.
Korbinian P — Google review

Fred Y — Google review
their animal are really close to visiter,as an animal lover I like it that way because it's reachable some even can be touch, but honestly I think it isn't safe for visitors. the bears and monkey can easily get your hand or cloths if u are taking pictures too near. I think the crocodile cages and the walkway or place u stand to see the crocodile are a little bit too near or unsafe. I believe mayb someday someone is going to get hurt by the crocodile here because they can easily jump to get you. overall this zoo isn't that clean, animal also not much, but their staff are really friendly and helpful. the good thing about this zoo you can take pictures with the owl, snake and crocodile
TCS 8 — Google review
Mainly people come for the crocodile and snake feeding sessions. Crocodile feeding is 1130am and 330pm. Snake feeding is 11am and 3pm. There are other animal such as deers, monkeys and plenty of birds. You can feed these animals too.

Museums
The Petroleum Museum in Miri, Sarawak is a significant attraction that delves into the local petroleum history. It features replicas, interactive exhibits, and a historic tower. The museum's outdoor display showcases an oil derrick and nodding donkey, highlighting Sarawak's oil industry timeline. Inside, visitors can explore an earthquake simulator, model oil rig, and traditional oil extraction methods.
There is a museum on top of the hill. It is all about the history of the oil. It is interesting to be located at this place. I was quite surprised when I entered this building. It is because the entry fee was free; yes, you heard me. The entry fee is free. I thought the security guard would hold us, but they are just doing their own business. I am just walking in here and looking around. Whoa, I mean, this place is all about how to get petroleum, who the founder is, and what items are made out of oil. It is really interesting. The knowledge will become more concrete for those who are still studying and also for those who are interested in it. The stuff that I like the most is the model of the Petrol sea station. It is huge and gorgeous. I keep thinking about what will happen when the model falls off, but that answer will be forever unknown. This museum is quite lonely to me. It is because there are not too many people around. I was the only person walking around in here at that time. I love this museum so much. I definitely will visit again in the future.
GaMeR. B — Google review
On top of Canada Hill, building can be easily spotted and it is free entrance. A lot of good information inside but sadly it was not maintained. Most of the wall posters and printed has faded. Interactive games not working else would be so much fun for the kids. Unfortunate for Miri to be called Oiltown but no effort to take care of the museum.
Daphne D — Google review
Miri is widely recognized as one of Malaysia’s prominent Oil & Gas cities. With such a rich industrial heritage, I truly hope the relevant authorities will consider refurbishing and properly maintaining this museum (no admission tickets required). Updating the exhibits with current and accurate information about the industry would greatly enhance the experience. The museum has the potential to be an excellent educational hub and tourist attraction where visitors can discover fascinating insights into the history and development of the oil and gas sector. With a bit of revitalization, it could serve as a more engaging and informative destination for both locals and tourists alike.
Fakhira N — Google review
Barely worth the Ringgit for the grab here and back. Learned some niche information about the process of finding and drilling for oil, but that’s about it. The exhibits are old and all the interactive features are all broken. The view overlooks the city and you can see the oil rigs in the distance.
Cameron C — Google review
From the outside, the place looks very modern, but upon entering, I was a bit disappointed to see that most of the interactive displays were not working.. It would be great if they could fix them soon.. The only highlight is the nice view of Miri City from the top..
Izi G — Google review
A relatively small museum but with a lot of detailed information about oil and gas exploration, drilling, processing and uses of crude and LNG. Worth a visit if you have the time in Miri.
Vincent O — Google review
Good history on wall panels. Several panels are faded due to age or sun. AIrcon is good relief from outdoors. Several interactive displays are not functional. The museum could be used to engage children and young adults into the industry but not in its current state.
Lw A — Google review
The experience here is somewhat informative but also very much outdated. The information of Miri petroleum development has historical significance but it’s not maintained and updated. But still as a tourist it’s still giving me new knowledge, and it’s free entrance, so… it’s fine for a general learning experience but as a museum it could have been better maintained & updated.

I was not exactly in the coco cabana but nearby (coastline) & nearby park. Lots of doggos, recreational activities going on, good place for picnic and jogging. Spacious as well.

A short drive from downtown Miri, this spot is popular for its scenic views. Although locals mentioned that the food stalls are currently closed due to a change in ownership, the area remains ideal for a stroll and watching the sunset. The Miri City Hall also provides access to the top floor for a panoramic view of the area.

This is another must visit attraction in Miri. Limited parking especially during weekends. Many food stall for your quick snack. During my visit there's dinosaur exhibition outside the main building. So entertaining and informative at the same time. At the main building usually a venue for exhibition or artisan fair.

I'm glad to have visited this place. I wasn't sure what to expect apart for being a place to catch the stunning sunsets that Miri has to offer. There are many food vendors, entertainment for the family, a few cute cafes and the sunset was impressive. Definitely come visit this place when you're in Miri.

Nice place to watch sunset. But I miss that!!! Very "antique crafting" nice looking building (refer photos) and giant seahorse "landmark", great place to take more photos. I attend Borneo Jazz Festival at this location. During fest, the one way in and out make the traffic very jam.

Crowded until sunset but many visitors didn't wear masks. Visit here at your own risk. Best place to watch the sunset. There is also food stall until 8 pm. The restaurant closed at 5pm. It's hard to find parking after 5pm.

I visited this place twice in a week time. Every visit gave me different feelings and experience. The first once quiet due to rain and it was a weekday night. We went there again on Sunday evening. It's located right outside of the petroleum museum. Entrance is free, with Informative on the history of oil and gas in Miri. Couldn't give 5 stars because the place and museum was really old- some of the informative wall were faded and I had a hard time reading them.

Saberkas Night Market, Pasar Malam Saberkas One of my favourite pasar malam to visit. I usually come here for tasty street food and snacks. Some of my go-to picks are local kuih, apam balik, pisang goreng and mee goreng. The place is lively and full of delicious smells. Perfect for a casual food hunt in the evening.

Local night market for foodie place. A lot of bbq for fish, satay, meat and sarawak food can choose. Nice place to hang out. Price are with tag and affordable. Parking is feasible.

Selling variety of food and local produce. Limited parking especially during weekends but you can park your car behind the shopping lot which is just 50m away. Food sold at very reasonable price. Some of the vendor selling at other bazar during Ramadhan so its kinda unfortunate during my visit.

Among all other nightmarkets I've been to, this is by far the neatest place with proper roofing. The night I went there the vendors were kind of very few though. Not as lively but bolehlah.

Visited Sebarkas Night Market on a Sunday night before a public holiday. Only about half of the stalls were open, and most were selling similar types of food. While it wasn’t as lively as on its usual operating nights, the food available was fresh, well-cooked, and offered great value for money. Unfortunately we missed the lively spirit that Sebarkas Night Market is famous for on their busier nights.

Craving sushi without breaking the bank? 🍣 I planned to visit Sushi King, but ended up here thanks to a friend’s recommendation—and I’m so glad I did! The spot was quieter than pre-pandemic days (easy to grab a seat!). Found their sushi booth packed with fresh, diverse rolls and nigiri—plenty to choose from! Perfect for first-timers:Affordable, solid quality, and truly satisfying. It's a fantastic local option for a quick sushi fix! 🙌 Don’t sleep on this place—great value and flavour. #SupportLocal #SushiLovers #MiriEats

Farmers' market
Market
Tamu Muhibbah is a bustling market located near the central station, offering a wide array of local products from the Sarawakian interior. Visitors can immerse themselves in the vibrant atmosphere while browsing through an assortment of items such as sweet pineapples, tapioca tubers, dried fish, spices, handicrafts, and produce from upriver areas.
Not sure if the locals all come here to get their daily marketing needs but for a tourist like me, it was a great place to get our perishable items all under the same roof. Even though it was super hot outside, it didn't feel that way under the roof indoors and because mostly are dry goods being sold, it doesn't smell as much. Even got a chance to buy souvenir bags handcrafted by the locals.
Simon L — Google review
Excellent way to see locals' ingredients and herbs used. You can buy dried fish or pure honey. Some stalls selling fresh veggies and fruits. There are food stalls at the end of the big building of the market. If you crossed the road and walk to the other side, you will find more interesting traditional market which opens only on sunday. Farmers and villagers open their stalls to sell fresh produces at bargain prices.
IUVA S — Google review
Great place to purchase local and Borneo produce such as bario rice, bario salt, tahai fish, dried terubuk (Chinese herring), belacan and some local handmade souvenirs. There are many friendly local vendors too, definitely a place to visit!

What better way to get acquainted with many ingredients that are less familiar to most of us? Sadly, no wild durian and dabai won’t be in season until August.
Stanley L — Google review
A nice market to browse for local produce or products. Many varieties of vegetables, fruits etc. There are food stalls located towards the back. Can sit for a meal after shopping at the market. Another nearby building labeled as Tamu Khas sells handicrafts, local kuih (cakes and snacks), pineapples etc. Plenty to see and buy.
A M — Google review
Friendly sellers and we can get variety of local products here including foods and handicraft. My advice, do go one round 1st before make a purchase as the price are vary between traders
ALFANSO K — Google review
Plenty of fresh produce with good prices, plenty of local product and fruits as well. There is a makan stall serving good mee kolok here as well. Stall no. 1. Make sure you go there early.
Naqiuddin K — Google review
Tamu Muhibbah is a must-visit spot in Miri if you want to experience the real heart of Sarawak! The market is full of color, and friendly smiles from local traders. You can find everything here — from fresh vegetables and fruits to jungle produce, unique herbs, traditional handicrafts, and local snacks like belacan, gula apong, and Sarawak laksa. I especially loved browsing the dried seafood and forest products section, which showcases Miri’s rich local culture. The prices are reasonable. The vendors are usually happy to explain the origins of their products, which makes the visit even more meaningful. Bring cash, wear comfy shoes, and soak in the atmosphere — it’s not just a market, it’s a cultural experience! Highly recommended for anyone visiting.

Tanjong Lobang Beach, nestled in the vibrant heart of Miri City, Sarawak, is a must-visit for anyone exploring Malaysia's stunning coastline. This lively beach offers a long stretch of soft sand perfect for sunbathing and picnicking with family and friends. With its proximity to the Miri Petroleum Museum, it's easily accessible from the city center.
Tanjong Lobang Beach (Brighton Beach) in Miri is widely regarded as the best spot in town for sunset views. The beach features a sweeping sandy coastline, iconic twin piers, and a relaxed esplanade perfect for picnics, evening strolls, or gathering with friends and family. As the sun sets over the South China Sea, the sky often lights up in brilliant colors, making it popular with photographers and anyone seeking that classic Borneo sunset experience. There’s ample parking, clean pathways, and a family-friendly environment. While you won’t find upscale restaurants on the beach itself, nearby hawker stalls and the Taman Selera food center offer tasty local dishes and fresh seafood for a casual dinner right after sunset. If you’re in Miri, don’t miss sunset at Tanjong Lobang Beach—an unforgettable highlight of the city.

Miri definitely has some of the best sunsets I’ve ever seen. This beach has been my go-to spot to clear my mind and connect with nature since my young adult days. While the sunsets are stunning, the place does need some maintenance, and I really hope the public can keep it cleaner. It’s still a peaceful escape, but it could be so much better with a little more care!
Manpreet K — Google review
Nice view from the city beach, many nearby stalls, shops, even KFC, and trees are all over the place. But very limited for picnic/bbq because of small area, not very much option.

Since 80's, this beach is a great spot for friends, families, and students to hang out. It’s ideal for school activities like tug-of-war, prefect camp, BBQs, relaxing with a refreshing coconut drink, and enjoying the peaceful seaside. However, the seawater quality might not meet expectations for swimming, especially compared to other beaches. Overall, it’s a cozy spot for unwinding and enjoying simple outdoor activities.
Dwayne Y — Google review
Good for sunsets. They have food stalls too. Can be a bit crowded but worth it ❤️☺️
Nifertiny J — Google review
Tanjung Lobang Beach is a great spot to hang out, especially on weekends or holidays. Even when it gets crowded, finding parking isn’t really a problem — there’s plenty of space, which is super convenient. One of the best things about this beach is the variety of food available. There are lots of food stalls selling all kinds of local snacks and meals. If you’re Muslim, no worries — there are plenty of halal options around. And if you’re in the mood for something quick, there are fast food places nearby too. The beach can get a bit packed, especially during peak times, but it’s still a fun and lively place to chill. The sea breeze and view make it a nice place to relax with family or friends. Overall, Tanjung Lobang Beach is worth visiting if you’re looking for a beach with good vibes, easy parking, and lots of food choices.

Taman Awam Miri, also known as Miri Public Park, is a popular destination located 3km beyond the city center. It offers a variety of attractions for visitors of all ages. The park features a small water park with water slides and a shallow pool, making it an ideal spot for kids to cool off. Additionally, there are playgrounds and picnic areas available for families to enjoy. For those seeking adventure, the park boasts jogging trails and botanical gardens to explore.
Miri Public Park is a very attractive destination to visit, especially with the uniqueness of the suspension bridge, which is one of the main attractions here. The park offers a refreshing atmosphere with a tranquil water pond and a design that is divided into two sections – the upper and lower areas – providing visitors with various interesting experiences. The upper area offers beautiful views and is perfect for a leisurely stroll, while the lower area is surrounded by captivating greenery. However, during my visit, the suspension bridge was undergoing repairs, so I didn’t have the opportunity to experience walking across it. Despite this, the park still offers tranquility and enjoyment, making it a great place to relax with family or friends. I look forward to returning once the bridge is fully repaired to fully enjoy all the attractions here.

Researchers have unearthed some of the oldest human remains here, dating back around 40,000 years, making it one of Southeast Asia's most vital historical locations.
Nice cave site in Sarawak, the caves are really majestic and absolutely huge. It’s a must visit if you are in the Miri area, a day trip should suffice but accommodations are available. Approx 1h30m drive from Miri town on the pan-Borneo hwy.

It was an interesting experience walking through the bush and to these big cave systems. The path was clean except for a few plastic bottles that had been thrown over the side of the walkway. The path was a little slippery at some points, so be careful! The caves were impressive and there were plenty of little creepy crawlies to spot. The caves were pretty dark at a few points so bring a torch. We stayed at the hostel which was clean and quiet. The cafeteria was well-priced and the food was delicious.
Jesse T — Google review
We went here on a Sunday and started early! The Google map route that’s shown here is actually unnecessarily long and pretty confusing, if you look for it you’ll be able to find a shortcut to reach here which is a lot more efficient. The cave is beautiful and long, be prepared to walk a lot, if you aren’t used to walking or you are a physically inactive individual this might be very difficult for you, so be prepared to walk, plus the path is a lot of uphill, so it will be a lot harder than just walking on plane pavement. They have built a good system of wooden platforms for waking which is very helpful. Please carry a few torchlights because it’s pretty dark in there, and there are no additional artificial lights installed to help you with that. Be caution while walking because we came across a baby snake while walking through the tunnel! If you walk till the very end you will see the cave paintings and they are truly beautiful and amazing to watch and think about the people who lived here. Overall it was a great experience I would definitely go there again in the future!
Britto A — Google review
Had very good experience, really recommended to go there with guide, you need to look for a local guide agencies in Miri, because park itself doesn't provide guided tours. If you go just to see caves without guide, you will miss a lot of interesting facts and things to see with a professional. Must to have: torch, because there is a quite long distance in total dark - on the way to paint cave. Very good grip shoes cause at the moment walking paths are really slippery, maybe after Unesco financial support paths will be more safe to walk. Highly recommended to see these caves, they are very different from Mulu caves.

A good place to learn about the the human history. Need to walk and hike for about 1.5 hours (3.1km) to reach the Main Cave. The track are mostly on well maintained wooden boardwalk, but there are some sections of paved and unpaved track as well. If planning to go to the Painted Cave (which is the last point of the track), do come well equipped with hiking shoes, headlamp, drinking water and cap/hat. Expect another 30-45 minutes of hiking time for the extra 1km hike from Main Cave to Painted Cave as you will need to navigate inside a dark area with some steep staircases. The total return distance from main entrance until Painted Cave and back is 8.2km.

Perched atop Canada Hill, The Grand Old Lady is a historic site in Miri, marking Malaysia's first oil well. It stands as a testament to the region's petroleum history and has been designated as a protected historical landmark by the Sarawak Government. Visitors often combine their trip with a hike to the summit ridge, which offers breathtaking panoramic views of the city, sea, and verdant valleys.
Not many tourists spots to pay a visit in Miri. This is one of the best spot to see the sunset besides at the beach. Overall worth to drop by and using Grab up and down not an issue at all. Just that you need to choose the correct pickup point when going down. I.e., The Grand Old Lady.

Visited the place after completing Niah Caves. We came here to visit the oil museum but it was not opened. We totally forgot that it was a Sunday haha. Besides seeing the historical structure that symbolizes the first oil well in Miri, the symbol is also located at the top of a hill that overlooks the city of Miri. It is a pretty good spot to take photos. This is a good spot to catch the sunset, we chilled here until the sun set and it was totally worth it. There were a lot of space that you can lay a mat and sit down but no public seats are available. It can get a little sunny as there are not much shelters to shield you from the sun while waiting for the sunset. I think this place can be hiked up (we drove) as we saw many locals doing that. Great hiking spot for beginners and weekend nature lovers I’ve been to Canada Hill a few times, usually in the morning on weekends, and it’s a great place for a light hike without needing to travel far as it is right next to the city, which makes it super convenient. The trails I’ve taken so far range from easy to moderate, making it ideal for beginners and families with young kids. Also suitable for hikers santai. The best part of the hike is the beautiful side view of Miri city, especially when the weather is clear. There’s also plenty of greenery and nature around, although it’s not exactly quiet due to its proximity to town. That said, signage is lacking as there are no proper signboards, so it’s easy to get turned around or end up looping the same route. A few basic rest spots exist (usually just plastic chairs under trees), and while there are toilets and stalls nearby, don’t expect much. I’d love to see some improvement in terms of trail markings and facilities. Overall, I give it 5 stars because of its accessibility and convenience, but I do wish there were more diverse scenery and slightly tougher trails for those of us who hike regularly. Still, a solid option if you want a quick nature fix without leaving the city! Any hiking groups out there left with a spot, do reach me as I am just starting to berjinak with hiking. Lambir maybe?

I'm curious about the origin of the name 'Canada Hill.' It holds a fascinating history. The atmosphere was invigorating, cool, deeply relaxing, and utterly captivating. The weather and scenery completely dissolved my stress. I could easily spend eternity here. I stumbled upon a colossal sign, reminiscent of the iconic Hollywood sign in California. It was a breathtaking sight. I felt a surge of pride, never imagining I'd encounter such a spectacle outside of America. It was truly magnificent. The sun shone brightly during our visit. I wandered around, capturing the beauty in photos. It was an experience worth every moment.

The Grand Old Lady on Canada Hill in Miri offers a beautiful escape with its panoramic views of the city. The hilltop provides a stunning vantage point, perfect for sightseeing and photography, especially at sunset when the sky is painted in vibrant hues. The lush greenery surrounding the area adds to the tranquility, making it an ideal spot to unwind. While there are a few small eateries scattered around, there's definitely room for improvement in terms of food options. A good café or shack serving light snacks and refreshments would really elevate the experience for visitors. Nonetheless, the area remains a charming destination to explore and enjoy the natural beauty of Miri. Whether you're looking to take in the views, enjoy the peaceful atmosphere, or catch a breathtaking sunset, Canada Hill and the Grand Old Lady are a must-visit.

21Miri Waterfront

Mentioned on
1 list
Miri Waterfront, located in Miri, Sarawak, offers stunning views of the Baong River, the South China Sea, and the city skyline. The best time to visit is during sunset for breathtaking scenery. The area features a prominent seahorse statue and a layout that resembles another seahorse when viewed from above. While there are no seating or shade options available, visitors can enjoy nearby food shops and cafes.
Quite a few of people during sunset for the good view, but empty during day time
Lynn — Google review
Just a place to take photos. Not much happening or things to do around the area. Plus there is a sewer smell in the area. So best to take photo and move on.
Irmansah A — Google review
A small promenade on the riverbank, sometimes a bit smelly, but a gathering spot to view the sunset over the river and trees on the other bank. If you're there too early before sunset, it will be hot and bright!
Vincent O — Google review
It's a short walk from end to end. You can take a picture with the Miri icon--the Seahorse. And also watch the sunset. Another interesting thing to watch is the giant boats ferrying what look like oil&gas staff from offshore. The boats are huge! After sunset there are many seafood restaurants next to the waterfront to try.
A M — Google review
The Miri Waterfront has evolved from its beginnings as a small fishing village centered around the Miri River to become a bustling commercial hub. Its history is intertwined with the development of the oil industry in Sarawak and the transformation of Miri into a city. Early History and Growth: Before the discovery of oil, Miri was a small fishing village, and Marudi served as the administrative center for the northern region of Sarawak. In 1910, the first oil well was drilled by Royal Dutch Shell, marking the beginning of Miri's rapid development. The discovery of oil transformed Miri from a sleepy village into a booming oil town. By the mid-1920s, Miri had become the administrative center of the Baram region. The Miri Waterfront area was initially a hub for fishing activities and trade along the Miri River. Development of the Waterfront: The old fish market, built between 1920 and 1925, was a significant landmark near the Miri River. The fish market was demolished in 2023 to make way for a new entrance to Time Square, with a replacement fish market relocated near the Pullman hotel. The area surrounding the waterfront has seen significant commercial and residential development, including the construction of the Pullman Miri Waterfront hotel, which is now the tallest building in Miri. The waterfront area is now a vibrant commercial center, with restaurants, shops, and recreational spaces. The Miri Heritage Trail includes the waterfront area, highlighting its historical significance. Jalan Melayu, a road that once ran along the waterfront, was shortened, and now forms part of the current Jalan Cina. Modern Waterfront: The Miri Waterfront Commercial Centre is a popular destination for both locals and tourists. The area offers various attractions, including the Pullman hotel, restaurants, shops, and entertainment venues. The waterfront is also a venue for events and celebrations, showcasing Miri's culture and heritage. The Pullman Miri Waterfront hotel is a major landmark, offering panoramic views of the city and the South China Sea.

Small waterfront with a seahorse statue. Better to visit during sunset since it was so hot at daytime. Nothing much to do at the waterfront itself but there are tons of shops available nearby. Can tapau food and eat at the waterfront. Tons of parking available. If this is your first time in Miri, worth coming if you have tons of time but can skip it otherwise.
I. I — Google review
Place to relax and chill with your love one. Alone also can, nearby got place to eat and entertainment places too 😌.
Eve J — Google review
Nice seahorse statue to take photo. A riverview is always nice especially on a sunny day. Interesting warning sign about dangers of crocodiles. However, not much activity at the waterfront and nothing much else to see and do there. Perhaps there should be some boat rides offered there?

Lutong Beach is a popular spot for families and friends to gather, especially in the evenings to catch the stunning sunset. Once a small heliport for Shell Petroleum Company, it's now a favorite destination for beach activities and swimming. The area is lined with food stalls offering various snacks and drinks. However, visitors should be cautious of the strong tides that can lead to getting drenched by crashing waves.
Lutong Beach is trendy beach, great for family outing in the later afternoon for sunset. The area is used to be an area beach site for small heliport airport for Shell Petroleum Company in the 90s and was decommissioned in the early 2000s. Ever since then, it has been a savvy attraction for family & kids to have a good swim beach time . It's free open for public. There is also some small food stall nearby as well, selling a light snacks, drinks and bbq. Recommended!

After the flood, Lutong Beach has new fresh looks, but it is temporary. Hope the developer will make it soonest renovate this beach. This is one beautiful beach in Miri to see sunset
ZeQayong M — Google review
Either sunset or sunrise you have one of the best seat here. Very popular among youngsters over the weekend. Come early in the morning and witness how hardworking local fishermen are. Wide open beach with plenty of activities to watch at. Please do not litter! Love our beach.
Lowrence J — Google review
Very thanks to the who are selling foods and drinks, like bbq, chocolate drinks and Keropok Leko, the most my favourite food, I am very thank for the most previous effort from them. This place are comfortable when watching beautiful sunsets
Yozz M — Google review
A place where people gather after office hours and especially on weekends. The hard sloping sand allows young people to ride motorbikes in groups along the beach. Be a little cautious as the tides can be quite violent with waves crashing up against the beach. Being swept by the waves can make you drenched from head to toe.
Dr. M — Google review
The beach is seriously affected by erosion. There is no much space left for recreation here. Recommend to go to Esplanade or Tanjung Lobang beach for better experience.
Tze T — Google review
Lutong Beach is one of the place for outing activity or some for distress. I use to bring my Dog here for excercise. The beach beutiful when low tide, the span as far as the eye can see. In the evening many Crowth come here BBQ. Smoke Corn With Butter. Rm6 very yummy.

Tusan Cliff Sarawak offers a picturesque beach with a cliff and stunning scenery. However, it is not suitable for small children due to the slippery slope and lacks facilities such as shelters, toilets, or bathing areas. Visitors are advised to be cautious of excavation and drilling works nearby. Despite the recent collapse of the giant sandstone arch, the beach remains a peaceful spot with clear sands and a windy atmosphere.
A beautiful place to catch the sunset. Not much to do here other than just relax and admire the natural beauty of the surroundings.
Kathryn N — Google review
Stopped by on the way back from Niah Caves. Nice spot to chill, relax and watch the sunset. The giant sandstone arch is no longer there but there is a sign that replicates what it looks like. You can walk down to the beach but be careful. Public toilet available
Ah F — Google review
Lovely spot for sunsets. Horse rock nice but a good 15min walk down the beach. Access to beach is also a bit hazardous. Went on a Thursday and the food stalls seemed closed. (We bought KFC along w us so no issues) We had a rented car .. doing lambir in the morning. About 45mins south from Miri.
TW T — Google review
The places got upgraded but the places is empty, cliff fell down It was dissapointing, but sunset scenery is good
子绅 — Google review
Please tourists, do not throw rubbish at the beach. Or else it WILL DEFINITELY end up like dirty beaches in typical crowded beaches. Do help to clear up rubbish if possible. Quite dangerous, not suitable for small kids to go due to the slippery slope down to the beach. Currently under construction 🚧 Hot sunny place with no shelters. Honestly just good beach scenery with a cliff, and nothing else! Feels like at the beach in Australia.
O O — Google review
This is the place where u can watch epic rock forming the shape of horse head...it seems like a horse drinking water...its magical...but the water is not suitable for a swim...n dun forget to try the tusan ice cream...vanilla coconut flavored ice cream...put inside a coconut shell...topped wit choc cookies crumbs...
Akem I — Google review
Nice view, windy , clear sands, quite peaceful here. The giant sandstone arch has collapsed recently, but still good to go tho. Got excavation work and drilling works nearby, be careful. No toilet or bathrooms. Can’t go bathing I guess, dangerous. Crocodiles alert is on. Must visit this beach, you will find serenity !!!
Damayanthy V — Google review
Felt like wanted to update my pics here after so long. Went here on 30th Oct 2019. Went here a day after a whole tired journey at niah caves! And believe it or not we went there at 12 pm when it the sun is scorching hot and felt like the hot is just right above our heads. But anything will do for insta as it is instagram-worthy 😂 but then I got litte bit tanned HAHAHAHA serves you right! As it is very hot, we took some pics and went right away to find some good foods for our little hungry tummy and a good teh peng(iced). The place is still under construction that time. The scenery is very mesmerizing for God sake! Were told by my friends that we should go to the horse-shaped cliff and i was like huh?! And yeah the cliff looked like a horse is drinking water from the sea. Was so sad when received info bout the cliff was sliding down 😔 Tusan beach will never get back her 'horse' cliff back! Alhamdulillah we get the chance to see it ❤

Bungai Beach, located just a 40-minute drive from Miri City, is a beautiful spot with a lovely stretch of beach. Despite the rainy weather during one visitor's trip, they could imagine it being a cheery spot under the bright sun. The beach offers facilities like small homestays for overnight stays and is perfect for family gatherings and short escapes.
Clean and it's a nice place to watch sun set.

📍Bungai Beach, Miri Since the famed Tusan Beach had maintenance works going on (and the beautiful natural horse sculpture fallen), we were recommended to give out Bungai Beach a try. 40 minutes drive away from Miri City, it can apparently be really beautiful, with a lovely stretch of a beach to walk on. It was raining the ENTIRE day when we went, and so the weather was most dreary. We were pretty much drenched. Still, I can imagine this beach being a lovely spot with a cheery bright sun. Perhaps next time then, Bungai Beach.,

Was here couple of days ago for bbq session. Slept one night in small homestay (fit for 3 person). The homestay is rm100 per night. Everything is so beautiful and peaceful compared to Peliau. I woke up early morning for the sunrise and had my yoga session. The feeling was so calm and relax. This spot is perfect for family gathering and a short escape for hectic and busy people like me!

Nice clean beach with clear water for beach activity and picnic. The only flaw would be the parking space which is limited.
Kaleb J — Google review
It's beautiful 😍 and it's quite hot there so, I don't have a good time during noon but when sunset came, it really displayed a breathtaking view. You can go here and have a picnic but if you don't like to get sunburn, don't come around when the day is hot. Overall, it's a nice experience and I got to spend time with my family.

A great place to admire the beautiful sunset which a short distance away from Miri city centre. The view is beautiful. You can start with a nice special ABC with bursting lime boba topping to beat the scorching sun before you have your dinner. There is one local stall that serves grilled chicken wings, satay and chicken butts (yes, you read it right!). The ABC and grilled chicken butts are 💯. If you want to have dinners at restaurants with air condition, there are Pizza Hut, KFC, a Japanese restaurant and other restaurants.

Fantastic Sunset View! Tanjung Lobang is a fantastic spot to watch the sunset—the view is simply breathtaking. It’s a popular place, especially with young locals who gather in the evenings to enjoy the sunset. It also seems to be a favorite spot for picnics. Unfortunately, there’s quite a bit of plastic trash on the beach. You can wade through the shallow water to reach the small man-made island just offshore, but the island also has a lot of plastic waste, and there are remnants of what looks like a concrete jetty. Despite this, the beach offers stunning sea views and is an amazing spot to watch the sunset or unwind after a day in Miri.
