Park
Bako National Park is a protected coastal area in Malaysia, known for its pristine beaches, cliffs, and unique rock formations. It offers a serene escape from the city of Kuching, which is home to various attractions like Tua Pek Kong Temple and Kuching Waterfront. Visitors can also enjoy activities such as kayaking, scuba diving at Talang-Talang island, and traditional dance lessons nearby.
Incredible beauty of this park and not a lot of tourist. I hiked alone for 4 h till Jahur. I saw proboscis monkeys, wild pig, flying lemo.... The nature is wild and beautiful. Viewpoints, the river... everything perfect. Book very early for accommodation 1 night. It worths it , I think. 20 ringgit the entrance/ 40 for the boat in/ out to share with 4 other persons. Take electrolytes & water because you deshydrate very quickly there. PS: a part of the bridge after the junction to go to Jahur need to be fixed because very unstable. Thanks

Great experience. Definitely get a certified guide as they know where to look and prevents you from getting lost. Saw wild boars, snakes, The elusive proboscis monkey, silver leaf monkey, flying lemur, and even a huge centipede.
Ranger M — Google review
A great place to visit. Best is to engage a local guide to bring you around as you will miss out lot of things. Also need to check the tide timing before travelling as the boat can only move during high tide. I was told by the boatman best to avoid on 15th of the lunar calendar as is low tide and you would not want to stuck on the sea for hours.

Bako National Park is an incredible place — very well preserved and full of wildlife. The trails are beautiful and give you a real sense of untouched nature. We stayed for one night and can highly recommend that, you will de a lot during the night walk. The accommodations are simple and could be a bit more clean, but everything else was perfect. The water is kind of brown so a shower isn’t that refreshing. A great experience overall and definitely worth visiting!
Phil N — Google review
Wonderful park tour! Our guide “Boy” made it possible for us to see more than 10 long-nosed proboscis monkeys. We booked the tour spontaneously on site and everything worked perfectly. Absolutely recommended!
Niclas — Google review
Well worth a day tour. Saw loads of wild life and had a great guide explaining all the area. A good lunch is normally included in a tour which we had and is good.
Keith A — Google review
Best to stay there for a night. Otherwise not many animal to see between 0900 and 1400. Short trail hiking (800m) is just for experience. End of the trail was a beach.
Chun L — Google review
Bako National Park is a place you absolutely must visit. It is worth going there by Grab app and leaving quite early in the morning to avoid the crowds and have a better chance of meeting the proboscis monkeys. Importantly, payment is only possible in cash on site and I did not see an ATM anywhere nearby, so it is worth having a supply of cash with you. We bought entry to the park on site, then rented a boat with a guide (extra fee). We came across a brilliant guide who, unlike others, was able to find the proboscis monkeys, which we could approach to a distance of a few meters (other guides walked in crowds one next to the other with the crowd of tourists - this does not help in searching for the proboscis monkeys). Since you are in the jungle, you have to be careful and not touch anything green (you can see a snake in the photo). On the way back we had trouble finding the Grab but we found a local driver who took us to Kuching for cash. To sum up: 1. Go to Bako Park early in the morning 2. Bring cash 3. If possible take a private boat with a guide (avoids crowds during the tour) 4. Don't touch anything green unless you want an unpleasant surprise, like a snake

Nestled in the heart of Borneo, Sarawak Culture Village is a vibrant living museum that showcases the rich tapestry of Sarawak's diverse ethnic groups. Visitors can immerse themselves in traditional lifestyles as they explore authentic longhouses and engage with local artisans. The village offers captivating cultural performances, including dance and music, providing an enchanting glimpse into the heritage of the indigenous communities.
Very interesting and informative place. This should be maintained well for future generations. It will be more interesting if you have a tour guide. As the the explanation make the visitation more interesting. The performance was so good and impressive. Will visit it again next time.
Izan T — Google review
The theatre experience was great. The houses and performances were wonderful. Delicious snacks were available at each stop. Price is quite steep at RM90 for Malaysian and more for foreigners. Removed one star because there was no queue management at ticketing or theatre entrance so it was annoying with cutting queue and what not.
Arief J — Google review
Took the group private tour from Klook. Friendly tour guide, good explanation. 30-40 mins ride from Kuching town centre. Worth a visit if you have half day to spare in Kuching. Interesting cultural show performance.
PY T — Google review
A must-visit if you’re in Kuching! The cultural dance show, traditional ethnic houses, and historical exhibits are really interesting. There are also activities like mini-games and sago processing that you can join or watch. The restaurant food is also worth mentioning.. very delicious! You can choose from the a la carte menu or go for set packages that come with the entry ticket. It’s about 45 minutes from the city centre. Getting there by Grab is easy, but getting a ride back in the late evening can be tricky, so plan ahead.
Irfan R — Google review
A good place to visit for those who wants to experience the different cultures & traditional houses of Sarawak. There are mini activities for you to participate, local snacks making / selling, costume rental for photography and a cultural show (note the timing). Certain time of the year, this is a host venue for the annual rainforest musical festival & other concerts, so you can plan accordingly if interested. Try to purchase the tickets ahead of time especially if it’s a public holiday to avoid the queue but make sure you are certain of making the visit as the tickets are non refundable after purchase. Sarawakian prices differ so it’s best to purchase upfront not online. 1 star missing because there is lack of interaction in most houses, rumah bidayuh being the best with great informative presentation by the host. Also the cultural show should have some improvement than the same program & moves with no change vs 3 decades ago…
Katherine Y — Google review
The whole experience was fun. Superb performances by the dancers and musician. Everyone was friendly and nice. You can also try out different types of 'kuih' that they sell in different houses. Hopefully they can improve the maintenance but overall it was great 👍🏻
Wanny — Google review
This place was a good 45 minutes drive away from Kuching city. Worth it if you like learning about different cultures. They had many different longhouse on display. Which house has little exhibits in there and occasionally people cooking (and you can buy the snacks they are cooking). The walk between the different houses is quite long for those that mobility is an issue, especially on a hot day. And of course fr some, climbing the narrow steps are quite challenging. Do come for the cultural show as it was quite good. It is daily at 1130 and 4pm. And it last for 45 mins. Carpark is available if you have a rented car. Entry prices are way too steep (even for Malaysians). Download the app as it has the map on it.
Sharon T — Google review
A wonderful experience. Feel the vibes of Malaysia's ancient indigenous peoples through recreations of activities and environments. The show features fun and authentic performances that engage the audience. Worth the price of admission.

Kuching Waterfront, located in Sarawak, Malaysia, is a charming destination that seamlessly blends historical allure with modern energy. The area features the iconic Sarawak State Assembly building and boasts the tallest flagpole in Southeast Asia. Visitors can enjoy the scenic views of the Sarawak River and a delightful fountain display on Saturdays. The waterfront offers a mix of colonial and contemporary architecture, creating an enchanting atmosphere for both locals and tourists to savor.
Waterfront The waterfront has a very nice walking path, especially at night. There are some tourists, but it is not too crowded, so you can enjoy the evening. Bright lights make the place look beautiful, and the trees make the air fresh. The path is very clean, so it’s nice to relax and spend time here. It is a calm, peaceful, and comfortable place. Waterfront Bridge Full of beautiful lights with many people walking on it. The pedestrian corridor is very clean.
Sindhi O — Google review
I had a wonderful time exploring the Kuching Waterfront, and it quickly became one of the highlights of my trip. The place is perfect for a long, relaxing walk, especially in the evening when the weather is cooler and the lights reflect beautifully on the Sarawak River. The walkway is well-maintained, clean, and safe, making it enjoyable for families, couples, or even solo travelers. One of the best parts of my visit was taking a boat ride on the Sarawak River. It gave me a different perspective of the city, especially the stunning view of the State Legislative Assembly building and the Darul Hana Bridge. The breeze on the river made the ride refreshing, and the scenery along both sides of the river was simply beautiful. I would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Kuching. After the walk and boat ride, I spent some time exploring the main market area near the waterfront, where there are plenty of stalls selling souvenirs, handicrafts, and local products. It was a great spot to pick up gifts and unique items, all at reasonable prices. The shopkeepers were friendly and welcoming, and I found some lovely souvenirs to take home. Overall, the Kuching Waterfront is a place where you can spend hours without realizing the time. It combines relaxation, sightseeing, and shopping in one location. Whether you want to enjoy a peaceful stroll, take photos, go on a river cruise, or shop for local crafts, this is the spot to be. I fully enjoyed my time here and would definitely recommend it to anyone visiting Kuching.

Good place for people who like to explore local food and culture👒🧤🩳 There are a lot to see on the Kuching Riverfront as on this side of river have a lot of attraction and shop compare to the other side of river which more of village and local houses. To travel between the 2 side of the river, you can take boat penambang, small boat that only cost rm1-2 to cross the river. The locals who operate the boat is very friendly that you also can ask any question about the local on them so they can give you suggestion on tips around here. I really feel safe when i go around as the local are very kind and the locals are there to help you. I really suggest you to walk around to get the best experience around. I have attached a few nice pictures around the waterfront so feel free to check out them and give a few likes and your thought😇😇

A great place to relax with a beautiful sunset view. Perfect spot for peaceful walk, with traditional Sarawakian music instrument played by local people adding to the atmosphere. They even have bubble blowers for stress relief, the perfect way to unwind especially if you don’t drink or smoke.
Tina J — Google review
Excellent view of the state legislative building, the bridge. Should come here in the evening to enjoy the musical fountain at 830 pm every night. Nice to sit and enjoy the fountain and music. Good vibe. Best itinerary is to enjoy the cruise first 530 pm to 7 pm, then go for dinner and then stroll on the bridge and then the musical fountain at 830 pm.

I think it's a bless for a citizen to have a big river and being utilize for a sightseeing spot with long walking path, big bridge and boat ride etc. Some city in this country just do that. They probably will build more housing and mall on it. Well, kudos to people who built and retained this city. I enjoyed my short visit here.
Mohd Z — Google review
Lovely place to just walk around and relax by the river. The atmosphere is calm and peaceful, with a nice breeze that makes it so comfortable. Perfect spot for an evening stroll, enjoying the view and taking it easy. Definitely one of the highlights in Kuching!
Tedy A — Google review
The Kuching Waterfront is a must-see in Sarawak because it has beautiful views, rich cultural history, and a lot of local character. The riverbank promenade is a wonderful place to take a quiet walk, take pictures, or just enjoy the atmosphere of Kuching. It's a lively centre for both residents and tourists, with historical sites, street performers, food vendors, and stunning buildings all in one area. The Kuching Waterfront is a wonderful place to spend a few hours or the whole evening. It represents the easygoing, inviting, and character-filled essence of the city.

Sarawak Museum is a venerable institution housing cultural, archaeological artifacts, and natural-history specimens. The museum is located in Kuching, Sarawak and offers a glimpse into the region's rich history. Visitors can explore the historic building and learn about the diverse heritage of Sarawak. In addition to visiting the museum, travelers can also enjoy other attractions in Kuching such as ornate Chinese temples, colonial-style architecture, and a beautiful waterfront.
Visit on 23/3/2025. The museum & it's surrounding areas were probably in many Kuching people's best childhood memories. Although it's empty due to renovation but this is the best time to visit & look at the architecture of the building & look out the windows before it's fill up with exhibits again when it reopen in the future. Must register 1st to visit for free @ Borneo Culture Museum counter.

While it is temporary closed for upgrading until 2027, it is open for a free short tour. Registration can be made at the Borneo Culture Museum. It is worth to go for this tour, the history and the interior is interesting.

Filled with historical and cultural museums, The backside of the museum used to be an old aquarium before it permanently closed to the public. This place holds so many childhood memories. It's the perfect destination to visit with loved ones, family, and friends. A nostalgic photo of us from 2013 and 2016.

This is the old museum building and still open to limited tour that can be booked at the cultural museum nearby. Tour guide Ashikin was very helpful and friendly! It's a wonderful experience.

It was a wonderful day in this museum that encapsulated the essence of Sarawak's history and culture while allowing visitors to immerse themselves in the experience. Very well-thought out and remarkably beautiful displays and infrastructure. It was a pity that some of the exhibits with interactive options were not available that day, but would definitely go back for another visit. The best RM20 I have ever spent 💖

A must visit place when you are on Kuching. However, there's an on-going renovation till 10th July 2025. Thefore, please plan your visit.
RAMESH T — Google review
The Pride of Sarawak Borneo Cultures Museum is the second largest museum in South East Asia and just open its doors to visitors on 09 march 2022. After 2 months of opening, I finally managed to pay for a visit to this new landmark of Kuching city. This five-storey building is presented in eye-catching golden brown & black with a modern & sophisticated design that reflects Sarawak’s unique traditional crafts and rich cultural heritage. Upon entering the building, you can see the ticket counter right in front. Since during my visit time is still free admission, so I just walk in & collect a visitor pass to start my museum journey. The interior design is bright, wide & elegant. Just besides the escalator, there is a notice board giving clear guidelines for the floor & themes on each floor. 1st floor is Arts and Crafts Gallery & Children's Gallery, as the name, it is kids paradise. Here with a theme 'Love Our Rivers', providing info about environmental education & the concept of sustainability using rivers. Walking along the way from right to left, there are many interactive elements which will be a fun place for kids learning. Toward the end, you can see a slide for kids to play around & after pass by the slide, an area with nice mural painting of different animals in jungles. The dim lightning make you feel as if you where really inside the jungle. 😄 Highlights: there is a room with some "sampan" & rivers video projected on the wall, letting visitors sit on the sampan to experience flowing along the river. The concept is not bad but just the video resolution is slightly blurry & still can be improved. Anyway, the 1st floor might be a bit boring for adults. So just snap some photos & proceed to the 2nd floor. 2nd floor is a permanent gallery zone with the theme 'In Harmony with Nature'. The dim lightning effect, provided a mysterious feels to the entire surrounding. What you can see here is the cultures & wisdom of crafts by olden people & explore the relationship local communities have with the natural environment. They use different cages to catch sea creatures, their wooden art crafts & a lots more. Beware of the look-a-like crocodile on the muddy land!🤣 While walking along the path, there are some introduction video projected on the wall & some descriptions board setting on the wall, which may enhance your cultural experience. Going to the 3rd floor, here is another permanent gallery with artistic theme name 'Time Changes'. Inside is about archaeological discoveries in State, history of Sarawak and much more historical collection pieces which had been carefully frame in every display case for visitors to view. As a Sarawakian, this is my first time get to know that our current Sarawak flag was evolved over times, which is not the 1st design of sarawak flag. Lastly, move on to the permanent gallery at the last floor, 'Objects of Desire'. 🤗 I wonder who gave those theme's names as all are very literary feel. This floor, showcasing artefacts that reflect trade & skilled craftsmanship such as metalcrafts, ceramics, beads, textiles etc. From the designs & colors you can know the symbol of status during the old times. Highlights: At both side of this level is the clear window which you can check out the view of padang merdeka & Civic Center at the other side. If you are history enthusiast or cultures lover, you might enjoy this museum trips but for me, this place is just a fleeting glance. I do appreciate to the museum workers effort in labeling every segments of items with short descriptions. However, it would be great if it has Mandarin ver. as all the descriptions are only in Bahasa Malaysia & English. Besides, it is good that the museum had installed many hand sanitizers around those interactive elements, providing convenient for visitors to clean their hands after use. However, hopefully it can be refilled as when I went the 2nd times in the afternoon, most sanitizers already empty.

Semenggoh Wildlife Centre, established in 1975, is the largest Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre in Sarawak, Malaysia. It's a popular tourist destination located just 30 minutes from Kuching. The center provides a safe haven for injured, sick, and orphaned orangutans. Visitors can observe these magnificent creatures up close during feeding times that occur twice daily.
Nice place to see some orangutans. The walk to the feeding platforms isn't hard and it's actually very enjoyable if you like nature, its sounds and its colors. The entrance fee is 10RM for foreigners and you can easily grab there and back. Worth visiting if you are in Kuching. Just make sure you preregister online before getting there.
Smile S — Google review
This was a very nice trip for the morning. We came early on a weekday, reaching around 825am. We got a rental car and there was parking right in front of the entrance. Once you get there, you just need to register on a QR code (need name, IC/passport, phone number). Once you have registered on your phone, you will then scan the given QR code and buy the tickets. Malaysians get the ticket for RM5 and the buggy ride for RM10. Cost more for foreigners. Do ensure you have phone data to do the registration if not register prior to coming (need to know the date and timing of visit). Once we got our tickets, it was a short walk to the buggy and we got a 3-5 minutes ride to the viewing platform. The buggy pick up and drop off is still a 2-3 mins walk from the viewing platform but if mobility is a slight issue, they are happy to drive you all the way in. We were extremely lucky to have 3 orang utans coming to the viewing platform 10 mins before the feeding time. We saw an alpha male which was huge and 2 others. The staff were all friendly and happy to give a running commentary that was quite humorous. This was indeed a fun morning but I guess it depends if the orang utans come out to play.
Sharon T — Google review
We visited the orangutan rehabilitation center in Puching for the 9 a.m. feeding and were lucky enough to see two orangutans! It was an amazing experience. Keep in mind that there’s no guarantee you’ll see any, since they can find plenty of food in the jungle — but that’s exactly what makes it so special and authentic. Highly recommended!
Phil N — Google review
Wonderful experience! We were very lucky to see 5 Orange Utans, but did have to wait around for 45 mins or more. The walk up wasn’t too bad so you can save on the tram ride. The rangers are amazing, full of information, humour and charm! Don’t forget to pre register for the park to save time on check in.
Adrian L — Google review
Open wild life Center. There is no cages or fences here. You can see and take pictures of orange utans in the open. Keep ur voice down when ur around them, don’t bring selfie sticks or action camera poles, u won’t see much with those and the orange utans mite see it as a weapon. Best to bring a 70-200mm if you have one. Or ur iPhone pro zoom is sufficient. There is a buggy service that you can take to see the orange utans or you could walk.
Lucky B — Google review
Absolutely incredible experience that I highly recommend to anyone travelling to Kuching! The fact that the Orang-utans are wild makes seeing them so much more special. The Rangers had to call out to them and even though it took about 45 mins of waiting patiently and quietly, it was worth the wait! We got to see a mum with an adolescent and a baby still clinging on to her; a rare sighting! So special. I would definitely go back!
Hanisah T — Google review
We didn’t book a tour — we just took a Grab for about 20–30 MYR one way. Honestly, I wouldn’t recommend booking a tour; it’s overpriced and unnecessary. Just take a Grab, buy your ticket at the entrance (cash only!) for 10 MYR. If you don’t feel like walking, you can also get a buggy ticket for 15 MYR. But as a European, I found the walk pretty easy and enjoyable — about 20 minutes on a paved road through the jungle. At the end, you’ll reach the wildlife centre. It’s not a park you can freely explore as we expected — it’s more of a viewing area where you might see orangutans if they decide to show up. The best time to visit is around 3 PM when the feeding takes place. Tip: bring your own water. There’s a small shop on site, but it doesn’t really offer anything useful.
Michaela V — Google review
We came early before 8am to have the front queue for entrance ticket. We rode the 2nd buggy to reach at the platform. Waited nearly 2 hours until an alpha male, a mom with baby and a teen came out. Don't ask me their names. They said they have more than 20 of wild and semi-wild orang utan here. I don't care. This is the first time I have to wait just to see a few minutes of orang utan. Is it worth it? I just experienced something probably. Then another alpha male come out while we about to hop on the return buggy. By 10am something we already move to the next destination.

The Cat Museum in Petra Jaya, Sarawak is a unique and quirky attraction that shouldn't be missed when visiting the area. As the first museum of its kind in the world, it houses an extensive collection of over 4,000 cat-related exhibits, including photos, art pieces, taxidermy, and historical artifacts. Visitors can marvel at a diverse range of items such as posters and mementos related to cats.
The cat museum, even though should be a central attraction of kuching city, there is not much to see here. Its just a bunch of cat statues and photos, a souvenir shop and what not. Pretty boring, not worth the price. Nothing much to do, yeah a bit of knowledge to gain but not worth the time honestly. If you are on a schedule, you can safely skip this place.

DBKU Cat Museum is one of the tourist destination that managed by the government. This place is located at Petra Jaya area, so you need to travel around 20 minutes from Kuching City Center. The admission fee for entry this museum is RM 3 for locals and RM 10 for foreigners. If your children is under 7 years old, the fee is free and if you bring your parents that is 60 years old and above, you just pay RM 2 for locals and RM 5 for foreigners. They just accept cash. For the cat lovers, this museum is so wonderful because it displays various cat collections such as photos, statues, painting, etc that connected to cats. Beside the museum, there is a room that explains the government's project for Sarawak area. I recommend you to come and enjoy the proper museum vibes.

It is located at Bukit Siol & inside DBKU building, so expect a few minutes of an uphill driving to reach the museum. Ticket price for malaysia citizen per person (cash payment only) :- - Free admission : below 7 y.o. & above 60 y.o. - RM2 : 7-12 y.o. & visitor with student ID - RM3 : 13-59 y.o. Most of exhibition items are cat statues & arts. There are also information about cat species & history. During our visit, there was a cat art exhibition by artist.

On Friday (26/9) around 4pm, I visited Muzium Kucing with my brother. We only found out at the counter that tickets could be purchased with cash only, but unfortunately, we didn’t have any with us. The staff at the ticket counter kindly let us in for free (thank you so much!). We even offered to pay via QR, but he politely said it was okay and just allowed us to enter. Overall, the visit was worth it, a must-visit spot for all paw-parents! 🐾✨

Recommended for cat lovers only... Basically U can finish seeing everything in less than 30mins. For improvement, I would suggest having a cat cafe here so that visitors can play with REAL cats after visiting the exhibits.

During our visit here back in 2016, the entrance was free, except for taking pictures with a phone or DSLR camera. If I’m not mistaken, at that time it charged RM5 for phones and RM10 for DSLR cameras. A perfect museum for cat lovers and kids. Clean environment and well-maintained by the management.

Best place for cat lovers. Entrance ticket not too expensive (RM3 adult) This museum sharing same building with DBKU. Lots of info we can't here. Make we know better about cat. Suitable for kids.

The museum is not free. there’s an entrance fee. I expected to learn something new or in-depth about Kuching and cats, but the displays were very basic and outdated. It’s not interactive, and I finished the whole visit in about 20 minutes. For the price, the quality is quite low maybe only worth it if you really love cats.

Nature & Parks
Park
Kubah National Park, located near Kuching, is a paradise for nature lovers. Encompassing approximately 2,200 hectares, it is home to one of the world's oldest tropical rainforests. The park offers a range of terrains such as sandstone plateaus, waterfalls, and clear streams. Visitors can explore various trails that lead to jungle areas, waterfalls, and scenic viewpoints.
I arrived at the park entrance at 7:30am on a Sunday, which was timely as the roadside parking was filling up fast. Else you’ll need to park a further distance away. I came here to hike up to the summit and it took me around 3 hours of active hiking time. A walking stick certainly helps as the incline can be quite steep and long in certain sections. Registration was easy and don’t forget to check out using the same QR code by scanning it when you exit.
Nicholas C — Google review
Cannot enter after 10:00am the information amongst with others basic ones is not found online. Cannot go walk to the frog pong without the guide which is 900m away on main asphalt road. Cannot go walking to the trails because supposedly it is wet, yes we are in the tropical jungle! Need to register with QR code and do the whole check in process. Feels like being at the airport border check. I understand there need to be some rules and regulations but this is too much. It takes away the fun why you even go into the nature. There isn't much of a wildlife and there is very little birds and bird sounds in general. The frog pond was very quiet and almost no frogs which is strange in comparison of 8 years ago when I was visiting for the first time there was an abundance of frogs and their chorus was beautiful and loud. Not sure what happened. Otherwise great to see variety of insects and spiders.
Jan — Google review
Kubah National Park is quite a challenging place to hike. Although most of the trail is cemented, the incline can be steep at times. The total distance for a round trip is close to 10KM, which feels like a mini marathon. It is recommended to bring some snacks to recharge your energy along the way. Although there is a mention of a mini frog pond, when we visited, it felt quite desolate as there didn’t seem to be any frogs around. As for the scenery, it is a nice experience for those who enjoy being surrounded by nature.
Jesse T — Google review
If you go very fast from 8am to 1pm you can do the summit (you have to climb here in 1h20 maximum), then you can to to the waterfall and refreshing 10 minutes, then viewpoint (yellow trail). But you have to go very fast all the 16km
Eliott T — Google review
If you hike really fast from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m., you can reach the top within 1 hour and 28 minutes. After that, you can go to the waterfall to refresh yourself for 10 minutes and enjoy the view. But remember, you’ll need to hike really fast to cover the 16 km.
Gab S — Google review
A very thrilling 7 kilometres long hiking trail to the mountain peak. Rich in greenery flora with breathaking scene. Variety of fauna surrounding the serene forest too, making our presence not be felt alone. Provided with concrete trail, some may like it whilst others do not. Personally, I feel the concrete trail is pretty much challenging for the descending process as our sole needs to have proper grip and strength on the quite slippery surface. The view uphill is really majestic anyway, nothing much to talk about as everyone should be there themselves in order to fully have a mesmerising opportunity of this beautiful view. For improvements, I hoped that the officer could inform us earlier that some paths are inaccessible through any media regardless of the reason as we planned to have a visit to the waterfall site initially, and hopefully there are more improvements of the facilities provided at the top of the mountain viewing area such as more seating space, toilets, or any shelter with roof which would give more convenience and safety for the hikers.

Kuching Wetlands National Park is a natural haven located on Borneo's north coast, encompassing a network of mangrove forests extending inland from the coast. The park is home to diverse wildlife such as proboscis monkeys, storks, river dolphins, and saltwater crocodiles. Visitors can enjoy a relaxing boat trip to explore this unique habitat that serves as an important barrier against tidal waves.
We visited here in a Wetlands Wildlife tour. Our guide was very good at finding the Irrawaddy Dolphins. We also saw Proboscis Monkey, Macaques, crocodiles, fireflies. Also the fishing village and fish farms.

Did a river cruise along Kampung Sibu Laut and almost near to Damai Beach. Really worth it, since the entrance was only RM10/pax. The life jackets provided were clean, and our guide was so helpful in sharing information of the checkpoints that we visited. The ride was about almost 1 hour(+-). After that, we had lunch at Telaga Air, which was just located in front of the jetty.

Did a morning river cruise along Santubong River. Wildlife watching very much depends on luck. Weather was great but wildlife wasn't. Managed to see a few Irrawaddy dolphins, so that made the outing very worthwhile, in my opinion.
Emily L — Google review
I did sunset cruise booked on Klook. There were other 2-3 boat at the same time so it didn't feel like a tourist trap-type experience. The place is beautiful, plenty of monyet belanda (proboscis monkeys) and we spotted 3 Irrawaddy dolphins, although our boat crew said it's easier to see them during morning cruise, so I consider myself lucky. We also saw a huge salt-water croc which made the boat swiftly going away. I only wished to spend longer time, the whole tour lasts 2.5 hours and dinner it's served on the boat during sunset time.

Nature & Wildlife Areas
Nestled in the heart of Sarawak, Semenggoh Nature Reserve is a remarkable wildlife sanctuary dedicated to the rehabilitation of orangutans. This haven provides shelter for orphaned and rescued orangutans, allowing them to thrive in their natural habitat. Visitors can witness these magnificent creatures during feeding times, typically held in the morning and late afternoon when they swing down from the trees to collect fruits offered by rangers.
What a great place to enjoy orangutans in a semi-natural environment. They play, show off, swing on the ropes and trees, to offer a view of their daily lives. The rangers are very attentive to the safety of the primates and visitors. At one point, we needed to move out of the area until 2 orangutans moved out of the visitor space. This is about 1 10 minute walk and a paid tram is available. Most of the area is wheelchair accessible. Small souvenir area with water for purchase. So awesome to see orangutans up so close.
Toni T — Google review
The park entrance has a small shop and toilet facilities. You can then either walk or get an electric buggy to the area where fruit is put out for the orangutans. There is a small cafe here and information centre. We went in the morning and feeding time is between 9 am to 10am. There is no guarantee of seeing the orangutan’s but the rangers really work hard to try to get them to appear. We saw 3 in the fruiting season Jan/ Feb then it is more unlikely they will appear. We c enjoyed the visit but they are wild animals and don’t perform to a timetable!
Mike T — Google review
Getting to and from Semenggoh from waterfront is possible through either hired taxi, ride share app or buses. We took the bus 103 from kuching metro. The electric bus, ( air-conditioned, free service and has complimentary wifi) that goes through nearly all attraction through Kuching city takes around 1 hr and 50 min to get to Semmongoh from water front. If you plan on using it download the Kuching metro app and abide by timings they recommend to start from water front to get to Semmongoh. The app unfortunately does not say exactly when it will show up in some of the other stops on its way. It took around 20-25 min from waterfront to viva city mall and about 40-45 min to airport. Do not use Google timings for this bus because they are incorrect or not updated. The Nature reserve is a rehabilitation center for orangutans. It seems well preserved as a rainforest except for some occasional man made structure along the way until you get to the feeding area. Feeding times are between 9-10 am and 3-4 pm. There is no guarantee that the orangutans will appear at that time or appear at all. The rainforest does offer variety of food for them. The feeding is still being offered because the preserve does not always have the food orangutans need for a healthy diet. I did not get to see them but it was well worth the visit. If there is rainforest forecasted close to feeding time there is high chance they will not come.
Jagannath R — Google review
Spent all day here. Took a grab here. Tickets 10 each for foreigners. Tickets were good for morning 9am and afternoon 3pm sessions. We saw Orangutans both times. Excellent. Well organised at the feeding area. The rest of the organisation was very poor.. see my review of the Park Entrance..
Paul A — Google review
Incredible experience with pretty much wild orang utans. The guide was knowledgeable and entertaining, and it was incredible seeing the 9 orang utans that came, including a mother and baby!
K. L — Google review
Most of the trails were closed and visitors could only gather in front of the feeding station, hoping that the orangutans come visit. Waited for quite a while before 2 orangutans came. Luckily we bought tickets to take the buggy because it's quite a tiring walk otherwise from the entrance to the feeding station, with slopes.
Sebastian L — Google review
It was a good learning experience. It was the fruit season, and the orangutans were not interested in coming out during the feeding time. The park rangers did their best, but to no avail. Nevertheless, the park is so beautiful and pristine. I wish the park let visitors do trekking with a ranger. If you miss seeing the orangutans in the morning before 10:00am, you can still use the same ticket when you come back in the afternoon around 2:00pm.
Aaz Z — Google review
Opening times are strictly as stated. I arrived 1.30pm but the ticket counter opens 2pm for the 2 to pm session. RM10 entry ticke for foreigners. The feeding areas are about 1km inside. You either walk the hilly road or pay RM15 for a 2 way buggy ride. I managed to see 5 orangutans up close, at the 2 feeding locations and the resting hut. 55 years old Grandmother, Alpha male, 2 daughters, and a young 8 years kid.

The temple's ornate facade and colorful architecture make it a picturesque sight nestled on the foothill near Sarawak River.
Was surprised to learn that it is one of the oldest temple in Kuching. It was very clean & well maintained. Situated high up from the road, you won't missed it. The Borneo Cultures Museum in Kuching is a must-visit for history enthusiasts. It offers exhibits on war history, maritime history, ancient and medieval periods, as well as BC and prehistoric eras. The museum also showcases traditional attire and handicrafts. As the largest museum in Malaysia and the second largest in Southeast Asia, it boasts a unique architectural design reflecting Sarawak's cultural heritage. Even those not typically interested in museums will find the immersive tribal culture exhibits captivating.
A great cultural and educational spot to explore Sarawak’s rich heritage. The museum is modern, spacious, and well-lit, perfect for families and friends. It's baby- and kid-friendly too, with enough space to move around comfortably. The exhibits are beautifully presented and engaging for all ages. A great place to take mirror selfies too! Rating: 9/10 – Informative, aesthetic, and family-friendly!
Jacqueline R — Google review
The Borneo Cultures Museum in Kuching stood out as one of Malaysia’s more impressive cultural institutions. It struck me as an institution with ambition, marrying heritage with modern curation, and offering Sarawak a cultural anchor that felt both local and outward-looking. The museum’s five floors were expansive, thematically arranged, and supported by thoughtful use of multimedia. Exhibits on Bornean ethnography and indigenous traditions were staged with context—ritual objects placed alongside stories, traditional crafts shown in relation to living communities. The Borneo Cultures Museum offered cohesion, inviting visitors into a narrative. Museums in emerging regions often struggle to balance preservation with accessibility. The Borneo Cultures Museum, though not flawless, felt like a confident stride in that direction. It was an example of how cultural infrastructure—like economic infrastructure—matters not just for display but for identity and legitimacy. It gave Sarawak a voice in the national and regional conversation. The architecture itself was striking—modern but rooted in local motifs, a building that projected pride without excess. Visitor flow was intuitive, and the mix of traditional artifacts with interactive elements made it engaging for both casual visitors and serious enthusiasts. The Borneo Cultures Museum felt like a proper institution, capable of carrying Sarawak’s heritage into the future. The Borneo Cultures Museum showed that Malaysia is capable of producing cultural spaces that aspire beyond adequacy. While there is still room to grow—particularly in sharpening curatorial focus—it offered a more engaging and substantial experience than many of the country’s other galleries. For me, it was a reminder that cultural progress, like economic growth, compounds unevenly: Sarawak, often overlooked, has managed to build a museum that sets a standard worth noticing.
Paul L — Google review
Excellent Cultural and Historical Resource This museum is absolutely worth visiting for anyone interested in Sarawak’s rich heritage. The exhibits provide a comprehensive look at the diverse tribes of Sarawak, offering genuine insight into their cultures, traditions, and ways of life. The historical section is equally impressive, clearly documenting the formation of Sarawak and its development over time. What stands out is the quality of curation, the collections are thoughtfully arranged and well-presented, making it easy to follow the narrative and absorb the information. It is also very interactive and suitable for children. Whether you’re a visitor wanting to understand the region or a local exploring your own heritage, this museum delivers an educational and engaging experience.
Eric W — Google review
I bought my ticket at the counter and only had to wait about 5–10 minutes. Ticket price for foreigners was 50 MYR. The museum is spread over 5 floors and is truly impressive — very modern, new, and well maintained. There’s a lot of fascinating information throughout, with many information boards in both English and Malay. The first floor is very interactive and great for children, but it’s fun for adults too. The exhibitions feature beautiful objects with plenty of background information, and each floor offers a different exhibition related to the history of Sarawak. The air conditioning is quite strong, so it gets cold inside — I recommend bringing a sweater if you plan to stay longer. Anyone interested in history and culture could easily spend 3–5 hours here; I stayed for about 2–3 hours myself. Overall, a fantastic museum experience — educational, well organized, and highly recommended!

Back in 2022, during our first visit to this place, we couldn’t explore all the sections of the museum because our baby girl was cranky and wanted to sleep. So, we decided to come back another time. Three years later, after being blessed with our second princess, we finally managed to explore all the sections of the museum. The ticket prices remain the same for locals—RM10 for adults and RM5 for children. I love everything inside the museum.
Blessed S — Google review
It's indeed a jewel of Sarawak's history and cultures as there are so many beautifully preserved artefacts and displays presented in an interactive format. But the museum need to improve the cleanliness and upkeep of the facilities as it started showing signs of neglect in terms of maintenance. The museum staff too should be more proactive and not just loiter around without any purpose. At the entrance to the galleries, none of them showed any slight interest to at least confirmed the visitors ticket! Should just provide a turnstile than a scanner which can easily be missed by the staff. Another area is the general cleanliness of the glass housing the displays, seems nobody bothered to do any cleaning for some time.
Biggbro271 — Google review
I thoroughly enjoyed this museum! It’s beautiful inside and out, and well-curated with artefacts, info pieces and the use of multimedia, the museum showcased much of Borneo’s unique history. Having visited Sarawak Cultural Village a couple of days ago, this museum value added significantly to my understanding of the tribes and their history :) also appreciated the children’s gallery and the interactive elements in that gallery and others Honestly well worth the RM50 for foreign visitors and would recommend to anyone visiting Kuching/ Sarawak :)
Claudine T — Google review
I’m really impressed by the curation of this museum. It almost feels like I’m not in Malaysia. It’s on par with some of the museums I’ve visited overseas and truly exceeded my expectations. The whole experience was magnificent, especially learning about the rich culture and history of Borneo. The displays and storytelling are so captivating that a few of them still send chills down my spine when I think about them. A gentle reminder to visitors, please do not touch the heritage pieces on display. I saw a few people touching and rocking the Burial Pole, which made me cringe a little. Just a small note for improvement, the tribal tattoo simulation QR code wasn’t working and some of the kids games could be enhanced. Other than that, it was an amazing experience overall!

The Chinese Heritage Museum Kuching is a fascinating destination that delves into the rich history of the local Chinese community. Nestled along the scenic Kuching Waterfront, this museum occupies a historic building originally constructed as a court during the Brooke regime to address local disputes among Chinese residents. The court was overseen by Ong Tiang Swee and supported by judges from various clans, reflecting the vibrant cultural tapestry of Sarawak's Chinese population.
History on how the chinese arrived in Sarawak and their main professions and contributions to the progress of Sarawak. Very educational indeed. The different dialects of each are a nice touch as this has been diluted as of now. The entrance is free and it is airconditioned throughout

The Brooke Gallery at Fort Margherita is a captivating mini-museum housed within an 1800s English-style fort. It delves into the history of Sarawak during the era of the White Rajahs, offering educational exhibits and a collection of memorabilia. The fort itself was constructed in 1879 to protect Kuching from pirate invasions and stands as a prominent landmark on the northern banks of the Sarawak River.
Don't be fooled by its small size. While not interactive, is very well written and presented. Coming from peninsular Malaysia, always had specific impression of colonialism and this place shed light on the supposed benevolent white Rajahs and the eventual unity of the tribes. Definitely a great introduction to Sarawak's formation

It’s a fantastic spot to dive into the history and key moments that shaped Kuching and Sarawak. Plus, it gives you a peek into why there are such interesting differences in racial and political views and tolerance between Sarawak and West Malaysia. Nestled in the heart of Sarawak, the Sarawak Islamic Heritage Museum is a captivating destination that invites visitors to explore the rich tapestry of Islamic culture and history. Established in 1930, this museum was originally known as Madrasah Melayu Sarawak and has since evolved into a treasure trove of knowledge. With seven distinct galleries, each showcasing various aspects of Islamic civilization—from architecture and literature to weaponry and decorative arts—there's something for everyone to marvel at.
Free admission. Very nice and educational museum. Staffs are friendly. Thank you.

Located near Borneo Cultures Museum and accessible from there. Quite as less people visiting this place. Free entry. Very informative. Clean and tidy. Rooms mostly air-conditioned. Quite suitable for students and family with children. Not so convenience for wheelchair users. No nearby visitor parking spaces available.

The Old Court House Kuching, located opposite the ancient prison which has been transformed into a trendy restaurant, stands as a gem of Kuching's colonial heritage. This 19th-century building features colonnaded terraces and has been repurposed into a vibrant cultural hub by the same team behind Penang's China House arts and leisure center.
First time trying The Old Court House Kuching. We found this place recommended on Google and RedBook. The food is delicious and tastes great. The restaurant environment is comfortable and cozy. Most importantly, the toilet is very clean and secure! you need a password to access it. Overall, a great experience! 💯

Historical place and enjoy the lunch and afternoon tea there. This is a place with class. The drinks are wonderful, the pasta is really good. The atmosphere is so enjoyable.

Beautiful heritage building with vintage interiors, and the piccolo coffee was great. Unfortunately, one staff member was very rude when we asked about ordering, even pointing toward the cashier with a large knife she was using to cut cakes. Very uncomfortable experience. Other staff, including the cashier, were friendly, but the incident made me lose interest in trying the cakes. Disappointing service during my trip to Kuching. I hope customer service can be improved to match the place’s charm.

Originally built in 1874, it was the administrative and judicial center during the White Rajah era. Today, it is home to a mix of cafés, restaurants, a bar, and the Ranee Museum, making it a must-visit spot for both history buffs and food enthusiasts.

Beautiful colonial style cafe/restaurant. Dark but airy inside, with helpful and polite staff. The flat white was perfect, with a silky mouth feel and strong without being too overbearing or bitter. They focus on a small number of meals so they can concentrate on high quality (or at least that's my assumption). I had the turmeric-spiced battered fish and chips. The chips were simple French fries, no issues there. The homemade tartar sauce was very different to normal. I liked it, but prefer the original tartar. The fish though...wow. A masterpiece. Amazingly plump and moist on the inside with bags of flavour. The batter was the right level of thickness and crisped to perfection. The batter tasted other-worldly. Would love to get their recipe, probably the best tasting batter I've ever had, knocks Rick Stein's out of the park! My photos don't do the food or decor true justice. Both are top-drawer. With chilled lounge music playing (and a baby grand in place which I assume also gets used), it provides a great escape from the outdoors heat. Highly recommended, but probably not for rowdy kids.

This is a historical building converted into a tea house restaurant. Thus, you get English themed vibes in this restaurant. There's so many instaworthy spots for you to take your selfies. Food & the drinks were nice and delicious too.

We booked the venue months before our wedding dinner, communicate several session in between and requested for our needs 1. Baby chair 2. They promised to provide PA system and mic But when we about to prepare for set up, every thg is not ready, neither the baby chair nor the PA system and mic. Luckily I hav my team going earlier to check it out. The management team had been very rude to my deco team, when we requested to change the position of spot light to avoid the light directly onto the screen which will affect the experience of my guest, they rejected and keep threaten on us to bear the damage cost! Isn’t it the basic for management to fulfill our needs as customer and it is just spotlight ? At the end my team change the direction of the spot light themself, and continue to ‘enjoy’ the threat from the management team, asking for name to report to their superior. Other than that, I have to be very honest that the food was nice and the waiter and usher was very attentive and professional. Just hope that the management can be attentive and focus on customer needs and did their best to help instead of threat.

Kuching City Mosque, also known as the Old Kuching State Mosque, is a significant landmark in Sarawak's capital city. Originally built in 1847 and later reconstructed in 1968, this opulent pink and gold mosque features Mughal-inspired design elements and ornate chandeliers. It is open to visitors, but non-Muslims are asked to dress modestly and refrain from entering during prayer times.
Beautiful inside but need to repaint outside. Faded and outdated. Since this mosque located in the city and many International tourists, perhaps upgrade for visitors with robe and information.
Mohd H — Google review
The muslimah place is upstair. Toilet is downstairs. Place is clean and neat.
Amni R — Google review
This masjid fascinated me. It is old and beautiful, well-maintained and comfortable. There is an old graveyard around the side which has seen kings go down in history. The sun rises and sets for this masjid. It is surreal. I love it.
Shima S — Google review
The mosque looks stunning from the outside and even more so from the inside. I've had the opportunity to pray salah there and I feel myself lucky.

Beautiful and comfortable mosque at the Kuching waterfront. This mosque is open for everyone to visit. Air conditioned and very peaceful. From a distance, the Kuching Mosque looks absolutely breathtaking with its unique gold and pink color. The best view of the mosque is from the Kuching bridge over the river during the sunset. You can get the whole city background in the pic.
Anh D — Google review
There is a pretty good review(s) of this mosque. But would like to correct some of the contentions. 1) have never heard this mosque being referred to as a floating mosque. It is not built on the water (like the new Indian mosque), but at the waterfront. 2) the river is not the Rejang but the Sarawak River 3) not sure whether it is the oldest mosque. And then I mean the place where subsequent mosques have stood. There is also the Indian mosque at Gambier Street that was there also before the arrival of James Brooke (the first Rajah). That mosque as it stands now was built in 1876, whereas the city mosque as we see it now was only built in the late 1960's. Anyway it is a very nice mosque and although in the city center, inside there is a quiet serene atmosphere. Worthwhile a visit, even if you are not a muslim, one is always welcome to visit a mosque. Just make sure you are properly dressed.
Paul G — Google review
The mosque is under renovation so you cannot enter, but you can still see it from outside. There is a cemetery in its courtyard which is unusual. The pink architecture is quite unique for a mosque.

Nestled within Kubah National Park, Matang Wildlife Centre is a conservation hub for endangered wildlife. The center features large enclosed areas of rainforest and spacious cages that house various animals, including orangutans, sambar deer, crocodiles, sun bears, and a variety of birds native to Sarawak. Visitors can witness the orangutan adoption program aimed at teaching young orangutans survival skills in the wild.
Lovely place for family, love the animals there as they are well taken care of, I find the surrounding is so serene and natural, my kids are enjoying the walks, if your eyes and hearts are beautiful you see what is beautiful ❤️

A place where you can learn about orangutans and other animals. It's a great spot to visit with loved ones, family, and friends. Perfect for organizing an educational visit program as well. The ticket for local is RM10 (adult), RM5 (Children) If you organize a program here and want free tickets for everyone, you need to discuss it with the manager, just like I did back in 2015 for Father's Day. To get a free ticket, all you need to do is one hour of cleaning work. After finishing it, enjoy!! There is also a picnic spot here with a pristine rocky mountain river flowing directly from the foot of Mount Serapi.
Blessed S — Google review
The entrance is included in the ticket to Kubah national Park. I went on a weekday and the animals seem to be quite at ease and friendly. If you move slow, keep quiet and stay longer outside each enclosure, you might get some fun interactions with some of the animals.
Jing M — Google review
A place that has seen better days. Would not recommend Matang Wildlife Centre to anyone until significant improvements are made. It was a disappointing experience at Matang Wildlife Centre. The facilities are dilapidated, with rotting wood and rusty cages, making it a sad and cruel environment for the animals. The entrance fees for non-Malaysians are steep (RM20/adult, RM7/child) considering the poor conditions. It's not worth the trip. This place is in desperate need of proper sponsorship and investment to improve the conditions and care for the animals. Instead of collecting entry fees, they would be better off collecting donations to improve the centre and provide a better life for the animals. I hope the fees collected are used to improve the safety and wellbeing of the animals. We only ended up here because we missed the last entry to Kubah National Park (note: last entry is at 11am).
Angie H — Google review
Overall not well maintain which understood that this centre not one of the key tourist spot and by looking at the visitors traffic, not easy to maintain it well. The key highlight for this centre for me is Orang Utan. Young orangutans that were orphaned or rescued are taught skills to survive in the wild. Some are being prepared for release. Other animals like Sun bears, civets, bear cats, crocodiles, sambar deer, hornbills, and more are also kept in enclosures or aviaries while undergoing rehabilitation. One hour is enough to walk thru the entire route.
Albert J — Google review
The centre appears to be under maintenance and doesn’t seem to be well taken care of. It’s heartbreaking to see the animals, especially the orangutan, who looks lonely and depressed.

The Square Tower, constructed in 1879, has a rich history as it served as a prison, fortress, and dance hall. Today, it stands as a popular tourist attraction on the waterfront of Kuching. Visitors can enjoy scenic views from the top of the tower and explore nearby heritage buildings such as the Sarawak Museum and Court House. The area also features historical sites like the spice market and India Street, offering glimpses into Kuching's vibrant past.
A well maintained historical building along the Sarawak River. It is located opposite the old courthouse. Visitors can walk around the area to enjoy the beautiful scenery and admire the beautiful State Legislative Assembly Building across the river. Visitors can also walk across the river via the new pedestrian bridge. Best time to visit is in the evening to avoid the hot sun and remember to bring along your camera!

A unique colonial architecture that you can visit while strolling along the Kuching Waterfront. It used to be a prison, then turned fortress & now apparently it is a restaurant... But it was closed at the time of my visit.

It's a bit nondescript, and theres almost no info whatsoever on this obviously historical building... But that kind of adds to its allure
Mr Z — Google review
My only regret is to post this review, for the fear that the prices will be driven up 😊. But then, many will miss it out. One of the best restaurants in town and the BEST value for money. My second time this week, dining on the fabulously priced ribeye steak (RM62 @ 220 gm) . This time without the Chef around just to see the consistency of the kitchen staff. Ordered medium rare again, and the kitchen delivers. The picture tells it all. The Grass fed New Zealand beef is surprisingly juicy even without being a fatty meat. Cap it with RM12 Draft Tiger beer (where else at this value?), make an early sunset evening dining, perfect.

Read about the history of this place, from the look of it this castle like building is well maintained. The roof top would be an interesting place to explore. Came here both days and nights, not open at all. No signage, no info. Regardless of whether this is a restaurant or tourist attraction, it is NOT OPEN. What a waste!

If you're in Kuching and looking for a unique experience, the Upside Down House Kuching is an absolute must-visit! This quirky attraction features rooms and displays that are entirely upside down, creating a whimsical atmosphere perfect for capturing fun photos. Despite its unassuming exterior near Tune Hotel, the interior boasts modern decor turned on its head. It's not just about taking pictures; you might even find some inspiration for your own home decor!
What a fun day out! Great practice of photo taking. Mind boggling optic illusions.
Elizabeth T — Google review
the place is a bit hidden and you have to park somewhere else. they have the small sign leading to where it is. easy to say, go to tune hotel but at the back, this place is right beside it. you have to take off your shoes before going inside, they provided a few benches outside to sit while putting on your shoes. The price for the tickets are stated on the notice at front door which is available on my pics. adult rm15 (local) and there's a discount for student, rm10. you just need to show your student id. registration process is pretty easy and short. there isn't much attraction which you can see in the pics and video. they have 3 different areas, a house, old historical places at the heart of kuching, and also a small room of gua mulu. i wish they would divide the areas of the house into smaller sections so it would be better, but nope, so it looks kinda plain. there's a guy who was with us, showing us around and talking with us a bit. it would be an awkward encounter for introverts so don't come alone. he offered to take pics, so if you didn't have any idea or pose in mind, i believe he'll gladly do it for you. there are other things there once you leave, like keychains, fridge magnets, rice (1kg) which is suitable for gifts, hats, shirts, and some other stuff. overall, a decent place if you want to kill some time.
Amandda J — Google review
One of the unique tourist attraction at Kuching, Sarawak. The place is a bit hidden, so you need to follow arrows in pink colour. The entry ticket is different for local and non-local Malaysia. If you are non-local, you need to pay RM 15 and children is free if they under 90cm. Some themes of upside down house are living room, dining room, kitchen, bedroom, toilet, children bedroom. After that, you can enter 3D view room to enjoy some famous area at Kuching from another side to side. Upside down House serves some staff to help you in taking some photos if you confused how to do that. I think the price is expensive because you can enjoy the place for around 30 minutes. But, if you like to photo, you can enjoy this place for a long time, as you want.
Chintamy C — Google review
The place wasn't really big, just like a house with rooms, where everything is upside down.. The decorations and layouts are quite unique for taking pictures, it also looks real.. But for suggestion, if you guys feel confused how to make a good pose to get good pictures, ask their help. The workers will help you with pleasure. For the ticket, it costs higher for non citizen.
BriestariaM — Google review
Stepped into an upside-down house and instantly felt like a kid —until my crackling bones yanked me back to reality. Sigh. Nevertheless had enjoyed the moment there. Azam & Fakri - the crew members were very helpful. Helping to take our photo and coaxing us to pose. Had turn our photos into fridge magnets for souvenir. If you had not been there it’s worth a visit. Bring friends. The more the merrier. Price is affordable.

Small place, can finish in 30 minutes or less. No credit card payment available cash or local methods only.Extra charges apply for non-locals. Fun for first-time visit, but not exciting to repeat. Staff are friendly but not very helpful with taking photos. Good for quick stop, but not a must-visit.

Its quite fun can bring kids here. But that day your malay staff asked another female staff member to serve us right in front of us just because he saw we were chinese customers? Are he trying to racial discrimination against? Hope its not cus it sidely uncomfortable. But I hope management will stop this kind of situations will not happen again. The female staff was friendly to help and patiently explained at gallery. Tq

If you're looking for a serene and picturesque park to visit, the Malaysia-China Friendship Park, also known as Taman Sahabat, is a must-see. Located about six kilometers south of the waterfront in Kuching, this 2.8-hectare man-made park commemorates the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Malaysia and China.
Very nice. Highly recommended. We enjoyed our visit to the Malaysia-China Friendship Park, a beautiful symbol of diplomatic ties between the two nations. The park features a serene lake, traditional Chinese architecture, a replica of the Zheng He ship, and scenic walking paths perfect for relaxing strolls. It’s a lovely spot for both cultural appreciation and leisure.

This is one of my favorite spots to kill time in Kuching, and also one of my go-to places for jogging. It’s a really cool park with a strong Chinese architectural style, which I find super unique and refreshing—especially considering we’re in Malaysia. The whole vibe of the place just feels different and peaceful. There’s also a really big Chagee outlet in the park with beautiful Chinese-style architecture. After jogging, I love grabbing a drink there and just relaxing for a bit. It’s a nice way to wind down. Overall, a great place to unwind, jog, or just enjoy the atmosphere.

Came here based on its reputation. The park is not very big, featuring a statue of Zheng He, a zig-zag bridge, and several photo spots. The Chagee cafe was quite crowded and difficult to get a seat, long wait times, and the service so so.

A nice chill visit to Malaysia-China Friendship Park at Kuching. The place is clean and peaceful, great for a walk and photo spot especially during evening time. After that, dropped by Chagee nearby for a quick break – their White Peach Oolong Milk Tea is really refreshing and smooth. The farm is home to a variety of domesticated animals such as chickens, horses, turkeys, goats, ducks, buffaloes, turtles, rabbits and guinea pigs. Visitors can also explore the Bif pond filled with arowana and other fish or take a tram to navigate the expansive grounds.
An incredibly fun place to visit when you're looking for different outdoor activities to do during holiday. Located just right outside the city, about 40 minutes from Matang. Tons of fun activities to do such as flying fox, archery, gel blasters, animal feeding, horse riding and so much more. Most of the walking area were shaded but you can option for shuttle bus to explore the large farm. The staffs are also very friendly and helpful. This is a must visit place, recommended for everyone! We get a spin wheel chance for completing the 8 stamps. We got 2 free tickets in the game! Google maps is 100% accurate. There is also some.rope course, flying fox and pony rides at extra cost

Good natural environment with fun and nice interaction with animals. Place is well maintained and really appreciate the hospitality of the staff. However, wish they can improve on a few things to attract more people and be more sustainable in the long run. - Roads heading to and away from Borneo Happy Farm were small and rough - RM40/30 for Msians a bit pricey with more to spend for photo session, zipline, horse ride, animal feeding etc once inside. Even the buggy ride is not free and costs RM12 per person. All the extra charges feels a bit off putting, as if I'm in China. Wish for some free perks like free drinks during the hot weather but there aren't any... - Enjoyed the educational aspects of this trip but felt it's not enough (I want to learn more!) The speaker's speaker also not working during my visit. Pity her she has to speak loudly to get her voice heard.. - Wish for more animals. Where are the birds and insects? Why the otter cage so dirty and hard to see through..? - Few picture boards are dirty and mouldy. Few stamp pads for the stamps also drying out. - No clear instruction to walk after spice garden area.. No more clear signs or imprinted footsteps on the floor. - maybe it's not the season so we don't see any fruits at the orchard garden area. The spice and herbs area also felt not as well maintained Just voicing out my two cents because I'm rooting for you! Wish this place can be better to even further boost sarawak/kuching tourism🫰

About 10mins needed from the main road, very big place, clean & have a lot of attractions. Might not need the tram because from one point to another is quite short distance despite the wide space area. Tram & ticket are quite pricey here but perhaps reasonable for a big place like this. Interesting effort like treasure hunt for the stamps where you can have the chance to win prize at end of visit.

It might be abit rundown on the building portion but the animals look well taken care of. The kids enjoyed the session there. There are plants, farm animals and a big fish area.

A good visit if you have never been to a farm resort before, especially for children. However, I must say, for a Singaporean, my family and I are used to better facilities and experience back in SG. The animals though cute, they look like they're trapped in their enclosures (especially the monkey, goats, sheep, crocodile). It is not cheap too as it is 70rm for an adult. Unless you're dying to experience the atmosphere and vibes of a farm, I believe that Happy Borneo Farm can be left out of your itinerary. Still not bad la.

Siniawan Night Market is a lively and atmospheric evening spot in Sarawak, Malaysia, offering a wide array of hawker food stalls and casual eateries. This hidden gem comes alive every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights, providing visitors with an immersive experience of authentic local culture and delectable street food.
Went there on Saturday 2.30pm. Still very quiet and most of the shops are still not open. We Still can get some coffee and teow chew Kuey, 肉卷. The store owner said, the street is busy on morning and evening time only. Afternoon is nothing much. Can also see convenience stall to sell groceries, rice, Raw Black chicken eggs and etc. Whole town is still quiet and easy to take pictures. Very nice town. It is good to stop over here if you passby here: We went to the nearer Chinese temple to pray too. The shop houses maintain quite nice. 👌
Jasminelcf — Google review
Siniawan Bazaar has come a long way since 2008 when a grass root movement began documenting this mining outpost for fear of complete destruction by king tide floods. Water line can reach as high as roof top of these ironwood-built shophouses. Theirs and the community's efforts eventuated a flood mitigation and drainage project by the government. Fast forward to 2025, the new Waterfront public space became the newest addition (circa Sept 26th, 2025) to an once abandoned historical place (circa 1840). The Sarawak Heritage Society Executive Committee for 2010-2012 gets a special mention for their work here. Siniawan has two annual anchor events to highlight. The 'chap goh meh' (15th day of Chinese New Year) street parade is rooted in cultural (hakka) traditions. The other is the transplated root in the Siniawan Country Music Festival (since 2016). The main street is now a mall where the pedestrain only stretch teems with street food stalls from Fridays to Sundays. P/S Siniawan Night Market is a misnomer. Save for the odd fruits for additional revenue stream, one cannot buy fresh produce there. A better label would be 'Siniawan Night Food Mall'.

Nice place to hangout or date with your love one or more than one....since i like the vibe or atmosphere of traditional chinese old town and classic. Recommended to be there early before night falls,as very limited of parking spaces and it takes time as well to go around look for foods and ask the shpp owner before sit. Some of the shop owner not allowing outside food on their tables as they have to clean it up which you didn'torder any food from the shop owner. Its better to ask before simply take your seat and bring outside food or other stalls to the table.Be well mannered and ask politely.😉

A great place to bring the family to hang out at night, with a variety of food and plenty of tourists visiting. The only downside is that seating is quite limited.
Larry F — Google review
We drove to this place on a Sunday evening thinking it was a night market. It was in fact a food street market in a cowboy looking town. It was rather small. The stalls were interesting and we had some delicious food there. It is 35 mins from Kuching city so you can only get here with a car. I would only recommend it if you had nothing else plan as it was quite out of the way.

Great place to visit, we were unlucky because of the rain and storm, but had a great diner at the Bikalan. Thanks to the owners Andy and his wife we still had a great time.

Reservoir Park, Kuching is a picturesque park located in the heart of Kuching City. It offers easy parking and convenient access from anywhere in the city. The park features various jogging paths, some of which lead uphill and downhill. Recently announced to be redeveloped as Unity Park, it aims to showcase Sarawak's ethnic diversity with a design entrusted to the Kuching North City Commission (DBKU).
It’s quite amazing to be able to preserve the natural environment in the middle of the town. That’s why you will see many wild animals in this park like squirrels, tortoises, even biawaks, which is pretty wild. Lots of huts to chill and enjoy the scenery. Perfect place for exercise in the morning or for killing time in the afternoon.

Had a refreshing brisk walk at Reservoir Park (Taman Perpaduan) in Kuching. The park’s serene atmosphere, with its lush greenery and calm reservoir, made for a peaceful experience. The well-maintained paths are perfect for walking or jogging, and the fresh air was invigorating. It’s a great spot to unwind and enjoy nature in the heart of the city. Highly recommend for anyone looking to get some exercise or simply relax outdoors.

Want to jog or just a brisk walk, here are the places in Heart Of Kuching City. Nice pathway for joggers and pedestrians. Have lake and scenery awaiting there. 1 loop of the small path almost 600m if combine with the outer loop almost 1.2km.

A lovely park in the heart of Kuching city, with well-maintained pathways that make it convenient for joggers. Besides being great for a morning or evening walk, it's also famously known as a perfect spot for pre-wedding photoshoots. The environment and atmosphere are peaceful. Perfect for anyone looking to organize an activity here, like outdoor games and much more just like we did back in 2012.

Such a big, nicely cared park for jogging or walking while enjoying the scenery ☺️ All ages friendly, bring your kids or your elderly grandparents, they would for sure love being here 🤗 Most important is that they have a public restroom hehe

If you’re looking for a calm, green escape in Kuching that’s toddler-friendly, Reservoir Park is a lovely spot. It’s not huge, but it has just the right balance of nature and easy walking paths that make it manageable with little ones. ⚠️ One heads-up: mosquitoes! Since there are ponds and lots of trees, you’ll definitely want to bring insect repellent, especially if you come in the late afternoon. I put some on my toddler before we walked in, and it made a big difference. Another note: there aren’t any food stalls inside, so packing water and a few toddler-friendly snacks is a must. And keep in mind the lake edges aren’t fully fenced, so supervision is important if your child tends to dart around. 🥪 Overall, Reservoir Park is a gem for a simple family outing — easy, refreshing, and close enough to the city that you don’t need to plan a full day. Just remember the repellent, and you’ll be fine.

The Natural History Museum in Sarawak is a large and well-presented museum housing a collection of fossils, zoological specimens, and ethnographic artefacts. It is particularly interesting for children and adults alike, with some great bad taxidermy on display.
For a free museum, this one is great. It’s a fun stop on the way to some of the others. Don’t go in expecting a fancy museum. It is simple, but charming.

Small basic exhibition hall. They have variety of taxidermist animals. Not too well maintained. Good thing is entrance is free
Fernando G — Google review
Good Collection, Poor Accuracy This museum has impressive exhibits, but they seriously need to fact-check their displays. I spotted an obvious mistake where a stargazer was mislabeled as a grouper. The collection deserves better curation and attention to detail. They also need to rethink how exhibits are arranged in proper presentation is just as important as accuracy. They need to fix these before the upcoming Visit Malaysia 2026.
Eric W — Google review
It's free and quiet and quite small. Stop in if you like stuffed animals and skeletons. Put aside 15 minutes should be ample.

Exhibitions were not as great as they could be. Exhibition hall was also very small, only a quarter of the building. Could definitely improve with more informative signs on the displays.

A really cute natural history museum, with taxidermy from diverse animal groups. Located in a single room, it won’t take long to see it all. But entry was free, and it was a great way to get familiar with the biodiversity. Museum collection cupboards are visible behind glass, including a visiting scientist room, suggesting they will host academic scientists to view the material.

The statue is located in the city center and provides a perfect backdrop for photos and a leisurely stroll. Kuching, which means 'cat' in Bahasa Melayu, is known as 'Cat City,' with numerous cat statues scattered throughout.
A symbolic landmark of Kuching, the Cat Statue stands as an iconic representation of the city’s identity. Strategically located at a prominent intersection, this statue is a must-visit for tourists looking to capture a piece of Kuching’s charm. The well-maintained statue, often decorated according to festive seasons, adds character to the cityscape. While it serves primarily as a photo opportunity, its cultural significance makes it an essential stop for visitors exploring Kuching.

Cat Statue The location is very strategic. If you stay at Tune Hotel, you can just walk to the cat statue. There is usually a line to take photos, but is not too long. It’s better to come while it’s still bright, so the statue is more visible. At night, the statue looks beautiful because it is lit with bright lights.

Located approximately 40km from Kuching, the Wind Cave is a limestone cave near Bau, Sarawak. It is part of a nature reserve park along with the Fairy Cave. The caves are home to various bat species, snails, black nest swiftlets, and rare orchids and palms. The Wind Cave offers flashlight tours through its caverns with limestone rock formations and wooden plank walkways for exploration.
I was told not to come to this cave after amazing trip to Fairy Cave but I don't listen to it. It turn out that I also love this cave. Much easier hike than Fairy Cave, darker, more bats and birds and shorter hike. My advise come to both cave as they are really nearby.
Mohd Z — Google review
Came for a working visit, a very short hike which is rather easy and safe for wide range of ability. There are platform into the cave and out passing by some forest and resting huts. Its really dark inside the cave if we swith off all the light. Can see a lot of small size bat inside the cave. Please wear mask if you not used the the guano smell.
Genie — Google review
I’m amazed that we can enjoy nature’s beauty up close and even be near the bats inside the cave. It’s a good idea to wear a mask because there’s a strong smell inside from the bat droppings. Recommended 👍 The staff quite friendly too.
Sharon L — Google review
Took about an hour to get here from Kuching town — a short trip that's definitely worth it. The cave is super cool (literally and figuratively), with lots of bats and a real sense of adventure. The walkways are easy to follow, but it's very dark inside, so bring a torch and wear covered shoes for safety. Great place for a short nature escape with some light walking and exploration.

Well platform walk area with a lot of bats and there is a river stream below. Nice place to have a cave walk and windy sections. Need covered shoes. Torchlight is needed as cave is very dark and not lighted

Indeed, it's called a "Wind Cave" because it's windy inside. Sometimes, you can even hear the sound of the wind echoing through the cave. It's better to bring your own torchlight, as they do provide rentals for visitors, but sometimes the beam is dim due to low battery conditions.

Free admission, worth a quick look if you're already in the area. The exhibition wasn't curated in an inspiring manner and I found the mannequins downright creepy, but you can still learn a fair bit about the textile heritage of the indigenous communities of Sarawak. (They do have some stuff on the Malay, Chinese, and Indian cultures but it was rather inadequate and perfunctory)
YJ K — Google review
The textile museum showcases authentic textiles made by the main ethnic communities of Sarawak. Visitors follow an exhibition flow of how a finished product such as weaving came about. Also on display are contemporary work of designs based on traditional weaving and design techniques. Traditional costumes and fashion accessories used in ceremonies are also on display. The architecture is an attraction in itself. It is a combination of English renaissance and colonial theme. Rectangular in structure, the Pavilion Building as it is known, was first constructed in 1907 a medical center. The 3-storey building later became the headquarter of the State Education department. The museum opened n August 2005. TIP: Give yourself at least an hour to time your visit with the closing hour. Opening hour: Monday to Friday 9.00 am to 4.45 pm Saturday & Sunday 10.00 am to 4.00 pm General admission fee: Free

Love history? Well, i guess you would like to visit this museum. However, there are lots of mannequins with different unique clothes. But, i dont really like the lighting there and the staircase. It's because the lighting is to dim and the staircase is really old, you should be careful when going up and down the stair. I dont really think the staircase is safe for small children.

The Ranee Museum, located in the historic Old Court House, is a captivating tribute to Margaret de Windt, the wife of Sarawak's second Rajah Brooke. Curated by the Brooke Trust, this permanent exhibition immerses visitors in her life through an array of paintings, music, literature, and crafts that reflect her legacy. The museum not only showcases personal artifacts but also provides a glimpse into 19th-century Borneo culture.
The perfect spot to explore Rajah Brooke's legacy in Sarawak. When we visited in 2019, the ticket price was RM10 per adult.
Blessed S — Google review
Well made exhibition that was interesting and enjoyable, portraying the Ranee of Sarawak. I missed a few details on why she spent only a few years there - the exhibition implicitly made it sound different but some timelines of her life were given as well - and maybe a more nuanced narration besides the almost gushingly positive stance the museum offers. No doubt an impressive woman but it felt it was lacking the full picture. RM 20 was on the high side for the small museum but you can buy a combo ticket for RM30 to learn more about the Rajah at the Fort
Naomi R — Google review
Overall 4/5: Small but informative, recommended time spend : 20-30 minutes. Entrance fees: RM 10 per pax, recommend to get the Explorer Pass with Fort Margherita included, refers the official website for more information. This museum is one of the smallest but chargeble museum we have visited. Logically can finish within 5 minutes. But if you really slow down and spend time to read, you'll be walking out with better understanding of this Sarawak icon. We are not museum fans, but we kinda enjoy our time spent here. It is interesting to learn how Margaret Ranee transformed her life from someone being exile to the well-respected Queen of Sarawak. More so at the olden days she lives in. The artifacts are well maintained, and the displays do tell a good story.

The small museum showcase a little about the life of second Rajah’s wife, which is Margaret Brooke. The museum is not that detail, but still you could have a brief look at her life. I spend around 2 hour seeing all the details. Recommend it if you like history!

We had a great experience at The Ranee Museum. It was so interesting to read about the influence of the Ranee rather than her husband (there is a whole other amazing gallery for that - The Brooke Gallery). The Ranee Museum tastefully and informatively follows her from a young child, through to meeting her husband, their move to Sarawak and then how she became a much loved part of the Sarawakian community. Really interesting with some amazing and priceless artefacts. Location wise it is walking distance from the Main Bazaar and there is an amazing restaurant with great coffee - what else do you need!

The Pitcher Plant Garden in Kota Padawan is a great place to find exotic lowland pitcher plants from all over Borneo. There are many varieties of these plants, and they are all protected species in Sarawak. The garden is small but well maintained, and there is plenty of parking space. Mosquitoes can be a problem, but it's worth visiting if you're interested in pitcher plants!
RM 3 to enter, bought tickets at the entrance gate. No one else there when we went on a Sunday. Many pitcher plants in this garden. Probably about half of the plants have tags with their scientific names printed on. Some areas seem a bit old but generally still reasonably well maintained. Good to apply mosquito repellent before entering.
Kai — Google review
Quiet garden with many different species of pitcher plants. Entrance fee is RM6 for foreigners and RM3 for locals.
Werner L — Google review
Definitely seen better days. Large parts seemed dilapidated. I wanted to see the famous pitcher plants and thankfully there were many great examples. It's cheap to enter and a pleasant walk.
Geoffrey R — Google review
It would be more educational and interesting if they can put up information boards about the pitcher plants (eg how they trap insects, function of the cover). Nevertheless it’s still a good place to visit when in Padawan area - a calm place to enjoy the various pitcher plants and flowers. Entrance fee RM3 - not enough to cover the expenses to maintain and run this place….
Ls C — Google review
Interesting place. Lots of greens and special pitcher plants. RM3 entry fee for Malaysian. Tonnes of parking space. Remember to bring mosquito repellent. Lots of mosquitoes. The place is not too big. Need more maintenance. If there's not so much of mosquitoes I would have spent longer time there.
LeeChin L — Google review
They did an excellent job on the maintainance of the garden. The leaves of the pitcher plants are green and healthy, the place is clean but there're lots of mosquitoes to be honest. Besides that the pitchers are kind off dried up thus cut off, and there were also completely healthy ones. Well this is what we call mother nature! I mean though it's not an actual jungle, they've maintained it marvellously for the visitors, mosquitoes are common and it is adviced to WEAR LONG SLEEVE CLOTHINGS or and MOSQUITO REPELLENTS. Pitchers do not grow on every leaves, since it could dry up easily thus having the need of trimming to make the vie better. All in all, nature takes care of the plants and the workers there make sure she did her job🤣 I did not regret visiting the place at all. As a nature and plant lover it certainly is eye and mind opening. Having lots to learn and gain experience from. Nature lovers are recommended to visit the place. Rm3 for Malaysians and rm 6 or 7 for foreigners i guess. Enjoy.
Zinhui L — Google review
Was a nice place but not being maintained very well. It should be the gem of downtown Padawan. The staff are friendly and there is plenty of free parking. The mosquitos are even more friendly than the staff, bring bug spray. Just a note on mosquito repellant. I work on my farm back in the bush. Repellant with DEET is not available here. I have tried all the repellants available in the drug store and found that OFF! works the best. The drug store down the street (a block away from the garden) called Tings has it available. It will allow you to stay longer in the garden and prevent being devoured by mosquitos. Jan.28, 2022 update. The gardens were updated in 2014, so there were some changes from my first trip. My big disappointment was the little replica house that was there, is now gone. I have to say that the office area and toilet are spotless, that toilet is so clean you could eat off the floor. To the cleaning lady that was there today, very well done. The gardens are ok but disappointing. There is no signage to identify any of the plants or what area they are from. Being an avid gardener I can see the issues of being under staffed. The entrance fee is reasonable for foreigners like me, in fact they should bump it up to 10 MYR, but make it free for locals. But on that note they should hire a guide, someone you could question about the plants. Would suggest a ' Friends of the Garden' volunteer group. I'll sign up, I do reside here. Go and see the garden and those wonder pitcher plants, specially the big ones that native people use for cooking rice.

Visite time: 5min, it's not a joke. Ticket price: 29mr Satisfaction:0 The building looks like a museum. The name looks like a museum. But in fact, it's just business where about 10-15 fake and big dishes are exposed. They even forgot to write dish names. And have to pay 29rm to see that. That's all. Such a shame. I put all pictures of all dishes below my comment.

I came from bintulu to see the insides of this museum and was kinda disappointed (i'm sorry). I seriously thought that the WHOLE building was the museum. Turns out it was only one floor of the building. As i walked inside, there were murals, replica of dayak's house & brooke's office & local food display. The insides were actually quite nice (but could be better if the whole building is the museum). Seems there's something missing. Hope they add new features in the future. The area offers various attractions such as Wind Caves and Bako National Park for weekend getaways. Additionally, commercial areas like Green Heights Mall and Main Bazaar provide excellent shopping opportunities.
Enjoyed our time watching the beautiful sunset — the beach is clean, the sand is soft and fine. There are great restaurants and a lovely resort nearby. We had a relaxing and memorable stay, highly recommended!

Damai Beach is honestly a pretty romantic spot. It takes about an hour to drive from Kuching, and I really really enjoyed the ride—such a beautiful view all the way with green hills and blue sea 🌿🌊 peaceful and calming. There's no entrance fee which is a plus, and while the beach is lovely, there’s not much happening unless you come during special occasions. I came during one of those busy days, so there were quite a lot of people around, including many tourists 😆✨ It was crowded in a fun way but still chill. There’s a small canteen area that sells food and drinks and the prices are super cheap. But sadly, when I got there, only 2 out of 10 stalls were open, and most food was already gone. So yeah, we only got whatever leftovers were still there. Better come early or bring your own snacks just in case 😅
Muhd F — Google review
Damai Beach is located about 1.5 hours from Kuching city center, which offers beautiful sea views. If the weather is not too hot, Damai Beach is suitable to visit while enjoying the sea breeze. There is a food court selling various typical Malaysian foods, souvenir shops and is located next to the Sarawak Cultural Village. Because the beach area is classified as having no people, we are not sure whether visitors can go down to the beach.

One of the more popular beaches in Kuching. No entrance fee though if youre going during weekends or there is an event happening there, the parking space gets full. If youre going on the beach, be carefull for sharp rocks and rubbish. The tides also come in very fast and deep. Dont go when raining as the water becomes choppy.

EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTING! The beach is tiny compared to others. After enjoying the sand and seawater, I found there were only two bidets — one was even broken — and barely any running water! The staff, especially at the toilets, were extremely rude, and the toilets were VERY dirty. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME HERE. Go to Palm Beach Sematan instead for a proper beach experience! 0/5 STARS

Many unique and different form of rock formation. Inside have resting area too. Will take about 1 hour to explore the area. Do wear mosquitoes repellent and proper shoe. Not advisable to go during rainy season as some terrain flooded with water and unable to walk.

They don't have proper parking so please park at your own risk and considerate of other vehicles. Entry is free, they have donation box before you enter, do donate generously. The maze is bigger than I thought. We didn't managed to finish all. You need to think out of the box and great imagination for the natural rock shape. Most favourite part is the river stream with small fishes. We saw one "terrapin" inside too. RM 2 for the fish food. But a lot of rubbish near the stream. The rubbish bin is not obvious so maybe that's why. Do help clean up the place when you visit. Bring insect repellent.

A great new adventure exploring the impressive rock formations and unique shapes! It’s a perfect escape from the busy city. When I visited, there was still some construction near the small natural river area. Hopefully, once it’s completed, the site will look more appealing, as the unfinished construction took away from the natural beauty of the geopark.
Nor L — Google review
Interesting, angry looking rock formations with jagged edges. It was an easy walk and I enjoyed the atmosphere. There’s a donation box outside and log book which I used, and there’s a large washroom too if you need to use it. The entrance is not so obvious - when facing the temple it’s on your right. When you follow the paths you’ll exit on the left side of the temple.
Nicholas C — Google review
Beautiful rock formation. Entrance is free and parking is free at the temple nearby. I do hope the management minimize man-made structures withing the Maze as it took away its natural charm. . During our visit we encountered human feces in between one of the rocks and it was pretty disgusting. I hope every visitors take extra care to protect this natural wonders.
Ben L — Google review
Located behind a Chinese temple, there are no entrance fees, however, a donation box is set at the front of the temple where you can write your name in the visitor book. The rock formations were beautiful! We enjoyed going around the place, it’s actually quite a large area. It’s pretty shaded all around with trees and tall rock formations. It’s nice to stroll around and will probably take you half an hour to finish. So many beautiful picture spots too.

This place is amazing. Good to bring your children or those who love rocks, stones etc. Worth to pay a visit when you go around Bau area. The formation of the rocks is unique. 🤣 I love the small stream with many fishes inside. The only sad thing about this place is the tortoise nest. For those who wish to visit, you can bring some food for them, for the tortoise. At the front area of entry is Buddhist praying place.

Taman Jubilee Mas Recreation is a lovely park with ample shaded areas, making it an ideal spot for picnics and barbecues. If you prefer not to sit on the grass, there are several pavilions available. The park features a creek where visitors can enjoy bathing and playing in the water. It's a popular place for families to relax and play in the water, although some caution that the roads can be slippery.
Great place for family playing water and have a rest there. The road were quite slipery. There was a RELA patrolling there too. Free entry. Just remember to keep the place clean and bring all the rubbish back with you.

The place is alright, for those who are not picky, since the entrance and parking is free. Preferably, come during weekdays to avoid crowd. I've no idea who manage this park. The river is fine. It's just the park itself is not that clean, banyak sampah.

Lots of local kids playing there. Their bicycles are modified for superman stunt. I do not have good feelings about them. An insider warned that car breaking is quite common here. Not sure still true or not. The river is has a layer of silt sediment and rubbish can be found in the river. There is a park but kind of deserted when I was there. Go at your own risk.

Nice park for mountainside fresh air & cool dip at the stream which is a stone's throw away from the entrance. Clean & well maintained. RM4 for adults & RM2 for children above 6. Well worth the tickets! Will be back to explore more.

A great place for hangout with friends or family. Suitable for all age group of people because it only require minimum amount of effort to reach the water playing area from entrance. The only cons is that this park require admission fee for RM 4 per pax (Malaysian) and RM 5 for non Malaysian. This park could be more well-managed.

The Round Tower, built in 1886, stands across from the Kuching General Post Office. Initially intended as a fort, it later served as a dispensary and is now utilized by the Sarawak Craft Council. While some visitors have noted issues with portion sizes and service, others have praised the delicious aglio olio seafood and perfectly cooked lamb sirloin. The ambience is pleasant, making it a potential spot for a date night or casual dining experience with friends and family.
I ordered lamb sirloin but was told that I will be served with lamb leg which actually mean lamb leg cutlets. While the food was fairly good, the customer service could be better. Orders taken were confused so our dishes did not come together. The ambience was pleasant and the mood for Christmas was in the air already. We change our minds about having dessert here cos of the service we got. Otherwise this venue would be great for a date night! Check it out.

Here to calm myself down over work. Ordered mushroom soup and a chiller. Nothing remarkable about the soup but at least it isn't canned for the high prices i have to pay (rm36) but it is a very good vantage point to snap pictures of Colonial Kuching.

The management better update the opening hours published in their FB and Google Maps correctly to reflect the actual. We came by at 6pm+ on a weekday for dinner, but the door was locked, although the OPEN sign has been put up. While I can see there is a long-haired lady inside watching us, but she has no intention to come talk to us - not even telling us the opening hours. That's fine, we will just spend our money elsewhere.

One of the unique and beautiful buildings in Kuching, a reminder of the British Colonial days. This Round Tower was built in 1886 and now serves as a restaurant. Originally, it was build as a fort to defend Kuching from pirates, but there is some mystery to this building till this very day. I suspect it was part of a larger project where fort walls were supposed to join this tower. Well, that's just what I think. If you're in Kuching, head over to the start of Carpenter Street or the Waterfront Hotel, and you will see this beautiful and unique building.

FunFactor is a great place for both children and adults to enjoy various activities. The friendly staff are always ready to assist with any challenges. While it's perfect for adventurous individuals, the playground is suitable only for kids under 5 years old. It's recommended to arrive on time for your slot as there are limited hours available. Visitors can engage in indoor activities and even build confidence levels through the obstacle courses and playgrounds.
The game is very enjoyable and provides a great challenge for the kids. The children are happy, and the parents are delighted. However, I hope the vending machine can be repaired for the convenience of customers, as some may forget to bring their own drinks. After playing, the kids are tired and need something to drink or a light snack.

Not worth the money at all. We paid RM40 per person, and honestly, there were only a few games available. Nothing much to do or enjoy. The climbing wall? Only a couple were usable. There were only two staff working, so everything took ages. I don’t blame the staff, they were clearly trying but it’s poor management to run the whole place with just two people. And here’s the ridiculous part: even a 3-year-old kid has to pay the full RM40, same as an adult. Seriously? Also, the time slot says 10am to 12pm, but at 10am they were just starting to turn on the lights and get staff in place. Registration only began at 10am, which eats into our paid time. That’s really unfair. My advice? Skip this place. For that price, your kids will have way more fun at other playgrounds that are better managed and way more worth it.
Dora R — Google review
If you are type of lasak person, this place is good for you. But if your kid under 5 years old, only got playground to enjoy. Limited hours only 2 hour, better to come on time according to your slot.

Didn't show us her "masam face" , thanks to you👍🏻

Hiking area
Mount Santubong, one of the highest mountains in Sarawak, offers breathtaking panoramic views of Kuching and the Sarawak River. Nestled within a national park, it's a hiker's paradise with well-maintained trails that attract both locals and visitors. The challenging climb is rewarded with stunning scenery and wildlife sightings like hornbills. With an affordable entrance fee, it's a popular choice for families and company trips.
This is channeling hike/climb. But nice if you like to push yourself. Remember take lots of water. The last quarter requires more climbing than hiking.
Amanda C — Google review
Firstly,... to get on the climbing trail, go to (search for) "Taman Negara Santubong", that's the starting point. There is an "easy" 2.5 hour loop trail, which is not too difficult,.. whereas the trail to the summit is challenging. You should wear hiking boots for all trails (I tried in sneakers,... not good,.. didn't get far),... and the trail also crosses the river a few times,... so be prepared to get a little wet (especially if it's been raining,... as it had been for me,... thunder storms overnight, and heavyrain in the morning). If there have been heavy rains overnight, then it will most likely be that ALL trails will be closed the next day. If you want to try the summit, you need to be at the start BEFORE 0900, and those for the loop... before 1200 noon. Trails/ park closes at 1600,... so you need to be done by then. I've posted a few notices (18MAR25) and pics (from the loop),.. I'll need to come back with hiking boots and when it's not been raining (too much).

Visiting the Irrawaddy Dolphin Viewing Area is not advisable during the rainy season due to strong winds and waves, which make it challenging to spot the Yihe dolphin. Also known as the short-nosed dolphin, this freshwater-adaptive species can be found in estuaries, sea estuaries, or shallow coastal regions. It is identifiable by its blunt head and non-protruding mouth.
Most boat trips to nearby islands may stop and linger around this area where the currents are slow and the water peaceful and chance upon the glimpse of the elusive Irrawaddy Dolphins. When we approached here, the skipper cut the engine and we just waited and more than once a while, we can see dolphins just breaking the surface of the water. It is a good photography area as well, but will need a longer range lens to catch photos of the dolphins. Also, during our time, unfortunately some people with jet skis have to create a nuisance in the area and possibly scared away the dolphins, and personally, jet skis should be banned from this area. Still, a 5-star place to visit when going to the islands.

(Translated by Google) Tips: It is not recommended to come during the rainy season because the wind and waves will be strong and it will be harder to see the dolphins. The River dolphin, also known as the short-beaked dolphin, is a dolphin that can adapt to fresh water. It lives in estuaries, estuaries or shallow coastal areas. Its iconic features are its blunt head and unprotruding mouth~ It is called the "three-second dolphin" by the locals, because it does not jump out of the water for more than three seconds, so not only do you need luck to see them, but you also need to test your "eye speed"~ The captain shared a little secret about dolphins with us. Dolphins often appear near small fishing boats because they can steal food when fishermen are fishing, haha~ (Original)
