Gallery Pastry Shop is a chic restaurant that offers creative dishes and European-inspired pastries. The modern patisserie welcomes guests with a glass case of glistening tarts and tiny opera cakes, while also serving foie gras croissants and pear-lavender mimosas. With multiple locations across Indianapolis, including Broad Ripple, the Old Northside, and Downtown Indy, it has become a pastry powerhouse in the area.
The Gallery Pastry Shop offers a delightful dining experience, blending creative pastries and gourmet flavors in a cozy and artistic atmosphere. Our sever Carolyn was amazing and attentive. The Bougie Benedict was a breath of fresh air compared to your normal Eggs Benedict. The dish had perfectly cooked eggs, crispy bacon, and a touch of caviar on top all sitting on the fluff croissant. The burst of flavors tingle your taste buds with every bite. The BLT croissant sandwich I had was impressive, with a buttery, flaky exterior surrounding fresh greens, savory bacon, and tomato provided a well-balanced mix of textures. The fries were another standout — crisp, perfectly seasoned, and garnished with herbs, making each bite satisfying. Accompanied by 3 sauces, Pesto Mayo, Homemade Hot Sauce and Green Goddess Sauce, it felt like a comforting yet elevated take on a classic side dish. Overall, the shop exudes a charming ambiance with thoughtful touches, like the small decorative pumpkin, adding a seasonal flair. It’s an excellent spot for indulging in both comfort food and culinary artistry. Highly recommended for brunch lovers and anyone with a taste for fresh, innovative pastry creations. The only downside was they were sold out of the Taylor Swift Macaroons!

We went here on a date night. It wasn’t very busy for a Friday night and most of my friends like this place for brunch or after work so made sense. I haven’t had much success in any food I’ve tried the three times I previously came here, but I really thought this time my dish was very good. Risotto. And the bartender Jace was training someone and making cocktails and we really enjoyed our drinks and being part of sitting at the bar.

December’24 From the IT place it’s the place I don’t want to go anymore! The food was meh and cold, like stone cold. Coffee was served in smelly cups and the service was bad! Our hostess didn’t hear us. Everytime we called her she wouldn’t reply, like she was standing next to us wandering but not reply such that we had to call another host. Gosh. The temperature inside was too cold like you’re sitting outside just without the wind and the washrooms were dirty with no hot water or the basics! The food too was ok and few things we wanted weren’t there in the menu and it was just weird an experience, weird enough for us to not go again! April’24 The “IT” place for brunch. We’ve tried to get a seat but it was packed and had long waits so couldn’t but we did finally one weekend. Food: The options are endless and it’s very vegetarian friendly. We tried crepe and few other things off the menu but entering was lip smacking. The macaroon too were great. Atmosphere: Lively and fun to be place. The vibe is great and the staff is super friendly and nice. PS: Get a reservation and go!
Akshara T — Google review
This was my first visit to Gallery Pastry Shop for dinner. Although the Devour menu was available, my friend and I wanted to try the regular dinner menu and it was great! We tried the savory fritters, Asian chopped salad with chicken and the chicken sammie. All were flavorful and delicious. The service was also fantastic- we will be back!
Kristi R — Google review
A super cute little brunch spot! The croissant is so flaky and buttery. I'd reccomend getting something other then the gravy and croissant. When I ordered it I did not know I was getting mostly gravy. It was AWESOME. I just wasn't feeling it that day! Most people arnt about this much gravy. I ended up taking it with me for eating onto of my husband's leftovers.
Samantha G — Google review
Amazing atmosphere. Great beverage list. Server knew the menu well and recommended 6 choices. Brunch selection was excellent. Everyone in our party enjoyed their meals. We will definitely be back again. Most notable was the sides - jowl bacon and hash browns. I’d recommend this eatery when visiting South Broad ripple (SoBro) Note: beer list seemed small and no drafts.

Delicious and phenomenal! We had a great time! The staff was really nice and happy. The prices were high, but not too bad. We went there for a late breakfast…very high end/gourmet. Loved it! The atmosphere is creative and enjoyable. I would highly recommend and we will be back.

Absolutely amazing. I would definitely recommend that people check this place out. The portions, flavors and prices were all pretty great. The service was amazing and were so understanding of our changes and time. The shop itself had such a wonderful vibe to it, the decorations really held everything together. We dined inside and ordered the sparkling lemonades with the carbonara and spicy chicken sandwich. Both were great, I preferred the carbonara but my friend preferred the sandwich. Went the next day and ordered again!

Bakery
Rene's Bakery Inc is a charming family-owned bakeshop located in the Broad Ripple neighborhood of Indianapolis. It offers an exceptional selection of French pastries and baked goods, including breads, croissants, cookies, and cakes. The bakery is only open on weekends but prides itself on carefully made morning treats. Customers can enjoy outdoor seating and a small indoor area for shopping while being served by friendly staff.
If you haven’t tried Rene’s you haven’t tried anything! Rene’s is a good little bakery with only space to order takeout. Their croissants aren’t the usual croissants, it’s syrup flavor and croissant in a wholesome combination! Warm syrupy and delicious in every layer! Rene just was worth the hype! I ordered a brownie too which was chewy fudgy with the right amount of chocolatiness! Service is super quick if you go right after opening! Rene’s serves a variety of fresh bread too and has a good menu ready for you to make a choice.

Amazing pastries! We got the Blueberry pastry, pineapple pastry, orange hazelnut croissant and chocolate almond croissant. The two croissants were very different, so it would be hard to rank them. The orange hazelnut one is unique and very flavorful, but it is hard for me to pass up on a chocolate almond one. Both were very good. Same was true of the pastries, although the pineapple edged out the Blueberry as our favorite. Unfortunately they were out of the raspberry pastry when we got there, so we will need to go back to try that one 😏 As another review mentioned, they do not have coffee, but there is a coffee shop within walking distance called perk up coffee. We got coffee there to go with our pastries and it was very good 😁
Michelle K — Google review
When I moved to Indy a little over a year ago, I was excited to try Rene's and never quite found a time in my schedule to visit before they closed. Now that they are back open, I have enjoyed several delicious visits and can definitely see what all the fuss is about. So far I've only tried the pastries, but everyone was a beautifully laminated, perfectly flaky, wonderfully flavored treat. I've had their plain buttered croissants, blackberry danish, vanilla croissant, almond croissant, almond-filled pan au chocolat, and more, each with its own distinctly yummy flavors. My favorite so far is the vanilla croissant, since it has a much lighter sweetness. Everyone at the bakery is very friendly and kind, helping you pick out exactly what you're craving that day. The place is tiny, so only a couple groups are allowed in at once, which is also something I love since I often get to have short little chats with other pastry-goers. There is a real sense of community here and I love it!
Eric C — Google review
PERFECT! PERFECT! PERFECT Rene’s bakery is totally worth the hype. Their croissants were made to perfection. They’re so flakey, fresh and light 🤩 We ordered their Ham & Swiss, weekend specials jalapeño popper croissants and scone. Scone was fruity and mildly sweet. I would definitely go back to try their bread and more of the croissants🥳
N S — Google review
Tiny, tiny hole in the wall bakery that is simply to die for! 🍪 🍞 granola 🍰 all look scrumptious! Being a quick stop, I settled on their “chocolate chewy” cookie. Oh my goodness the combinations of textures: soft, crisp surface shell, walnuts, and the most perfect gooey middle. 😋 The coffee came from next door at Perk Up, equally delicious.
Eric S — Google review
Just excellent—this bakery has become my go-to spot every weekend. As a French person, I can confidently say their croissants are top quality: buttery, flaky, and perfectly baked. It's not just me—another French friend also recommended the place, which says a lot! Everything feels authentically crafted with care, and the consistency keeps me coming back. If you're looking for a real taste of France in the area, this bakery absolutely delivers. Highly recommended for anyone who loves a proper pastry!
Julien R — Google review
I’ve been coming here for over a decade and still maintain they have the best croissants I’ve had on this side of the Atlantic. It was upsetting to hear that the original owner passed away, but his bakery is in great hands. The new menu items have all been SO good. The cinnamon rolls are a new favorite. Thanks for all the tasty treats over the years!
Anna F — Google review
The bakery is by far the best in Indianapolis/Indiana. I love how personal and kind the staff was, down to asking the thickness of the bread. I can’t tell you how excited I am to come back. The macaroons also were by far the best. I loved the flavor and the airiness of them, by far the best in the city. The price is very fair and I’m also surprised that they do custom orders. When I was there I asked if they sell milk bread, to which they said they don’t but would love to for me! The environment was very home like as it is a family business!

Circle City Sweets is a charming cafe and bakery that has been serving delectable treats since its opening in January 2007. Located at the Indianapolis City Market, this delightful establishment offers an array of breakfast pastries, cookies, and other sweets. In addition to their French pastries, they also have a menu featuring classic Midwest bakery items.
The BEST bakery in Indianapolis! They import their butter from France and you can definitely tell. An amazing value and quality. I’ve been going here for a decade and I’ve never been disappointed.

HUMMINGBIRD CAKE!!!!! Omgoodness, I bought a slice of this cake at Circle City Sweets 2 1/2 years ago after CPR BLS AED COURSE. And I was absolutely AMAZED DELIGHTED & PLEASED! I am a baker so for me to keep wanting someone else cake it has to be GREAT! Each bite gets better and better and it’s a different experience every time you put a piece in your mouth! I give this place a 10 outta 10 every time. You have to get a piece of the Hummingbird Cake! You’re gonna buy or order a whole one lmbo just look at mine.

Cindy is amazing! We live in Paris and asked her to make a croquembouche for our Indianapolis wedding - it was an absolute showstopper! All our French guests mentioned that it was one of the best ones they had ever had and the Indy guests kept telling us how much they loved it. Thank you so much Cindy!

Cindy is amazing, she always handles my special events and I KNOW everything will be perfect! She knew exactly what I wanted and the presentation was picture perfect. Over 100 enjoyed her delicious cake and every one told me the cake was amazing! If you want a no hassle catered event, Circle City Sweets is the answer!

Definitely one of the good bakeries in Indianapolis. We have tried many sweets from here and never been disappointed. Almond croissant is delicious and got wheat bread which is good too. Do crash in this place @amp for some good treats👍🏼

Was so lucky today! Got a couple of Almond Croissants for my wife and I. Every time we have come to Amp to get them they are always sold out. Circle City Sweets is awesome, come to the Amp and check them out! As well as other locally owned vendors here! #supportlocal

Wow. Well worth the stop, well worth the price (4 macarons, 1 almond croissant, two brownies, two cakes, and 1 streusal bar for $30). Delicious baked goods -- huge, fresh portions of all sorts of items! Chocolate pastries, fruit pastries, breakfast items, lunch sandwiches, cakes, croissants of all varieties... I am going back for another stop. The macarons are dreamy.

For me 1 star because they didnt support me in any way. They just need order 3 days in advance and straight away say no, even if you try to order with extra amount.

Leviathan Bakehouse, located in the Bottleworks District of Downtown Indianapolis, is a must-visit for food enthusiasts. The bakery offers an array of delectable treats such as zesty lemon meringue eclairs and Basque cheesecake, perfect with a cup of coffee. Additionally, they serve breakfast, brunch, and lunch options including the popular Chorizo Gravy Polenta.
I’ve review a bunch of coffee shops. It’s kinda my thing when traveling. This place has the best iced vanilla latte I’ve ever had. The best. The food options and bakery options are top notch. I can see why it was busy. When traveling to Indy this will become a pit stop for sure.
Shane B — Google review
I’m not sure how I haven’t left a review sooner, because I loooooove Leviathan! Truly a favorite neighborhood gem. I’ve done both dine-in and takeout, and everything has been wonderful anytime I do either option. I’m a big fan of their London Fogs & chai lattes when I don’t want coffee, and the strawberry hibiscus iced tea is fantastic for the summer!! Highly recommend trying the original croissant breakfast sandwich or a slice of quiche if you’re feeling brunchy, or the Leviathan TBA for lunch. The chocolate croissants are also the best around!
Cameron M — Google review
This place is always busy when I come here. AND all of the good stuff is always sold out. I am not an early riser, so it makes sense that all of the good pastries are sold out when I get there at noon on a Sunday. I did stop by on a random weekday and tried the biscuits and gravy. The biscuits were incredible. While I wasn’t a big fan of the gravy… that is just me. Other people probably like it. It was good but honestly I was expecting a little more. But that doesn’t take away from the amazing pastries, beautiful ambiance and chill vibes of this place. I look forward to trying a breakfast sandwich next time.
IndyKevin317 — Google review
An amazing bakery with beautiful pastries. The staff are super friendly and polite. Service was great. I tried the LVTHN BLT - the balsamic onion and the bread complimented very well. Coffee was decent. Would highly recommend. There is street parking and parking by the side street.
Krishna K — Google review
They have the best Pain Au Chocolat I ever tasted.🥹😍 It was so flakey, chocolate was decadent and rich, just look at the layers. I also ordered brown butter chocolate chip cookie, it was mildly sweet and not very chewy. They have a both indoor and outdoor seating which makes it a perfect brunch spot.
N S — Google review
Liiiiisten baaaaby let me tell you. I have droooooled over these online. I have saved videos for years watching people make a strawberry homemade croissant... I thought I had to go out of town somewhere to find these treats!! However This bakery was twenty blocks from my old house I just moved out of. I have driven by daily and never stopped. I found them on an app and these were a part of a mystery bag! To my surprise all of these treats were bagged when I arrived. You could have knocked me over with a feather and it took the great restraint to finish my errands and get home to take pics. When I cut it open and saw the filling, I am sure I looked like a cartoon character with my eyes popping out. That was what appeared to be a cheesecake flavored fillings that was sweet and creamy, paired with a homemade strawberry puree that was a touch of sweet and tart so it wasn't overwhelming but super intense flavor straight from heavens gates! These were light and fluffy inside, crisp and flavorful outside. These are dangerous 😂😂😂 once you have one you will fall in love and want to go back daily, glad I live 30 minutes away from them now. 😆😆 I'll be back soon enough when I need another treat! I can't stop showing and telling people about these and the bakery!! The baguette was crisp and almost chewy inside. The other doughnut was a bit thick on the dough but it was tasty. These were literally the items I wanted when I peeked at the website so to my suprise they were both here and some bread, yes please French bread pizzas it is! Thank you for being amazing. I'll be back soon to get one of my new favorites the strawberry croissant! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️🥹🥲🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤
Sherida S — Google review
Their chocolate croissant just sent reverberations of sensory pleasure from my taste buds to all throughout my body. I feel reborn, as if nothing could bring me down from this new height of crispy airy chocolate deliciousness I've just experienced. If man can walk on the moon, and if Leviathan can execute a difficult recipe such as this so flawlessly, maybe there is hope for humanity after all.
Jon S — Google review
Not a bad place to visit for a one time visit that is. Expensive grub. I got the biscuits and gravy. I'm used to the traditional and I knew this place would not follow that. I will say though, the gravy was great. It would have been better if the biscuits weren't cold. I thought it was a probably when I attempted to cut through them with the fork and nearly slid the whole plate off the table. Maybe they were day old biscuits that didn't hit room temp in time. This place was recommended but I don't think I'll visit again. Good lemon cinnamon roll, can't complaint there.

Amelia's Fletcher Place is a charming bakery known for its daily-made breads, pastries, and gourmet grocery items. The bakery has gained popularity for its sourdough bagels with unique flavors like Szechuan pepper-flecked Spicy Everything. Nearby, Leviathan cafe offers meticulously crafted treats such as 'Gorgeous George' eclairs and hand-ground pistachio paste for the Honey Pistachio Latte.
Such a cute lil shop. The bread is so tasty and fresh. I bought the city loaf! So yum. I also bought the croissants and they were so flaky and delicious. Service was fast. Wasnt too busy. Definitely recommend this place!

Thank you Sara and Audra for great service and kindness! I loved the chocolate croissant I got here and the City bread loaf! Thank you Audra for helping coordinate a donation to my Habitat for Humanity Raffle and for Sara for being so helpful always! Looking for a quick grab & go bite in Indianapolis? Make sure to stop by Amelia's for the best fresh-baked pastries and bread in town! We enjoyed the rhubarb tart, the ham and cheese biscuit, and more! Each pastry was fresh and unique. The cool part about this spot? There is a daily loaf schedule featuring new items! You can expect a bit of a line while you are there because of its popularity, but the line moves super quick because of great service! There are fresh snacks and refrigerated items that would be perfect for a date night or charcuterie board. Stop by Amelia's and try the rhubarb tart...I promise you will love it!

I came across Amelia's on social media and had to try it after I saw pictures of their bakery items! We tried foccacia and bruschetta, cranberry walnut bread and peach jam, sweet potato pies, an orange vanilla cheese danish, and a blackberry goat cheese danish. Everything was wonderful! My family loved everything, especially the foccacia. The staff was friendly. The store looked great. I even had a great conversation with a customer who overheard it was my first time visiting and told me how much she loves Amelia's. 10/10 recommend! :)
Kristin S — Google review
The pastries are amazing. The croissants, bread etc are flaky and fresh they melt in your mouth. The service was ok, nothing to brag about. The two young ladies there are not the friendliest but I guess they are doing their job. I would have given the place a five unfortunately they don’t have the means to heat up your pastries. It was worth the 22 mile drive.

We went for the first time. The sourdough bread and croissants are very good, the people were so friendly. It's hard work making these products and I appreciate those that do. Thank you! 😁

Quickly became a favorite place to stop in. The bread is amazing the baked goods even better somehow?? I love that they carry local products and some non cow cheeses! And the fact that they are open til like 8?! 🖤 cause i am NOT a morning person lol. Definitely worth stopping if you're nearby!

This shop was very cute! I enjoyed the selections of products along with the food I got. I got a half loaf and it seemed like it still went bad quickly. The brownie I got was very delicious; great blend of salty meets sweet chocolate. The person there was nice and told us about the special along with some conversation! Great place, will be fun to come back.

I was a little intimidated at first because not all baked goods have signs and prices but we walked away with 6 tamales and 8 baked goods with total less than $20. Staff and owner walked around and make sure we have questions answered. Everything tasted so good and I will def come back for more!

Their pastries are delicious! Always made fresh daily. Huge variety of pastries and cookies! These took a hit during transportation home. But it doesn't change the flavor. The Bavarian creme pastry has smooth and creamy flavor while not being overly sweet. These donuts are huge compared to name brand donut places. The churros are filled with a raspberry jam (or what I believe is jam). Slightly tart but that what I want in a raspberry jam. The Danish has a glaze that gives the pastry a sweetness to satisfy any sweet tooth. And the cannoli has a sweet cream filling with each end being dipped chopped pecans topped with chocolate sauce. The cannoli itself is crisp. Great contrast of texture. Prices are very reasonable. They also sell cakes, which I look forward to trying someday.

Long's Bakery is a beloved local institution in Indianapolis, known for its delicious assortment of treats including donuts, danishes, cakes, and other pastries. This cash-only bakery has garnered high praise from locals and visitors alike for its traditional and consistent offerings. With two locations in the city, Long's Bakery opens early at 5:30 am to cater to breakfast-goers with an array of pastries in various sizes and fillings.
I love everything about Longs! I love the freshness of these donuts. I live over 2 hours away and I crave them and have to make random trips to settle the craving because nothing else will do! Longs has very convenient hours, open much longer then other donut shops. They are cash only! Once you have been here you will see why it’s a staple in Indy and why it has such a great story to tell!

Jack's Donuts ain't got nothing on Long's! I grew up dedicated and always believed Jack's was the best.. NO WAY! Long's Bakery has THE BEST hot and fresh yeast! I'm so glad we finally stopped and visited! Will be my go to from now on! You have such down to earth and helpful staff ❤️

I’m very happy this donut shop is not closer to me because I would go everyday. This is honestly the way donuts should be made no bougie volant or voodoo donuts- just classic/ great donuts. Although I should mention they also make cakes, cookies, and an assortment of desserts. Parking is insane and it’s cash only. We got a variety box and EVERY donut was amazing. Expect a wait but the line moves quickly.

Awesome spot! If you’re near downtown Indy, definitely pop over. Super affordable prices for awesome quality! 10/10 will be back again! Love the whole vibe of this place. Be advised, this is a CASH ONLY establishment. Make sure you come prepared. I picked up a dozen for just over $12. They also sell cakes, brownies, etc.

Most affordable and the best place in Indy to get donuts. I loved the peanut butter and jelly donut, glazed donut. These are must try. Apple fry is good too if you are willing to try. Don’t forget to carry cash if you are going. They don’t accept cards or any type of transactions other than cash.

Long’s is an absolute must when I visit Indy from The West Coast. The blueberry cake donuts and regular yeast are my go tos. Hat tip to the raspberry jam filled donut as well! Cash only and the line moves quickly.

The Cake Bake Shop by Gwendolyn Rogers is a high-end bakery known for its glamorous ambiance and outdoor seating. Upon entering, guests are greeted with French-inspired decor, sparkling chandeliers, and beautiful seasonal decorations. The shop offers an incredible experience with a variety of delectable treats including cakes, pastries, quiches, soups, salads, sandwiches, and more.
This is quote a hit to your pocketbook but the experience is really nice and the desserts are delicious! I didn’t eat any of their lunch items on the menu but the Carrot Cake is very good! You will enjoy the experience. They are by reservation only so call ahead.

I decided to visit The Cake Bake Shop for the first time during a weekend trip to Indianapolis. As a big fan of sweet treats and desserts, I was excited to finally try this place. My partner and I arrived earlier than expected, so we called to adjust our reservation. The restaurant was very accommodating, which we appreciated. Upon entering, I was immediately struck by how beautiful and sparkly everything was! The aesthetic is perfect for anyone who loves pink, florals, and a touch of glam. As for the food, I wasn’t particularly impressed. We ordered the Lemon Caesar Salad and the Half Turkey & Gruyère Sandwich—both were fine but nothing special or memorable. That didn’t surprise me too much, though, since I had already assumed the desserts would be the real highlight. Unfortunately, that wasn’t the case. We ordered the Red Velvet Cake, and it was so underwhelming. Neither my partner nor I enjoyed it—the cake wasn’t very moist or sweet, and the frosting was plain and almost flavorless. Overall, I’d only recommend this place if you’re looking for a visually stunning experience. The ambiance is gorgeous, and the service was good, but for the price, the food quality just doesn’t match up.

Very fanciful. :-) The food was exceptionally good (sandwiches & soup) and the desserts are amazing. Our server was patient as we looked over the menu and very helpful when we had questions. Can’t wait to visit Indianapolis again so that we can return to the Cake Bake Shop.

We have been going to this Cake Bake shop for years. We just held my daughter's bridal shower here and it could not have been more perfect! The attention to detail and everyone helping was top notch. It made her day so special. Extra thanks to our server, I believe her name was Nolan. She was great and seemed so genuine and excited for the bride!

We came here yesterday to celebrate my girls’ birthdays and had an absolutely magical time! Our waitress was lovely, on top of it and so perfect and patient with my kiddos. The entire staff was kind and upbeat. The location is clean and beautifully decorated. We will be back for sure! PS: I’m still finding sparkles on my face 🤣

I really enjoyed my visit to cake bake for the most part. I love the aesthetic of the place. It’s so whimsical and fun. I’d just go back for that alone. I got the blueberry lemon cake while I was there. It was not my style of cake and your definitely playing for the novelty. I thought the crumb of the cake was alittle mealy and the I icying was really heavy. That being said it probably was just not made for my taste and I’m sure many others love that style of cake. Overall tho it was a pleasant visit and when I go again I’ll try another style of cake.

A pleasant surprise it was to run into the donut shop! We were on our way from the Indy 500 parade back to our parking lot and stopped here. The donuts were great and well balanced flavors. The matcha latte was a perfect pairing. The location definitely has some views when you walk outside. Bussin!

A nice donut shop to drop in for the obvious: coffee and donuts. The glazed donut was perfect. Warm, soft and sweet. The glazed croissant was something I had never tried and it did not disappoint. It lacks in seating but most people coming in were grabbing and going. It’s a homey atmosphere inside, with some cute neon signs and cute wall decor. Service could’ve been slightly friendlier but would definitely come back.

The proximity to the Capitol is the best part of this donut shop. I eat a lot of donuts so I’m pretty picky about donut shops. These were good but a little dry. I wish they had a larger selection. The building and the history of the area was cool.

So this review is based on an Apple Fritter that my son bought for me while I was in Indy last week. The Apple Fritter was $6 but it was huge (6 - 8” big - see attached photo). It was big, well made with plenty of apples and the glaze was done to perfection. I really like Apple Fritters if you can’t tell. My son and his girlfriend showed me the other donuts they bought and they also looked good although I did not try them. Next time in the downtown area, I will make it a point to stop by and visit in person. I need a donut like a hole in my head but can’t resist.

Heidelberg Haus is a traditional German cafe and gift shop serving house-baked specialties and Bavarian goods. The atmosphere is cozy and old-school, and the food is delicious. Service is quick and friendly, making it a great place to relax with friends.
Happened upon this while visiting from out of town, I didn't eat at the restaurant but we did get several things to do. The pastries the had were delicious, particularly the custard filled honey drizzled one. But the star, beyond the fun outfits the staff wore and the general atmosphere was the pretzels. All I can say is it's a good thing I don't live closer, or I'd be eating pretzels until I pop.

OMG, I felt like I had just gone back in time and landed in Germany. The food brought tears to my eyes, it was exactly like Mom made. The atmosphere was charged to say the least. My only regret is that I live so far away from them. Everytime I find myself in Indy, I'm going back! I absolutely loved my experience at Heidelberg Haus. I got to meet the owner and his accent reminded of Mom's accent. Thanks for transporting back to my childhood.

Heidelberg Haus is a slice of German Bliss in Indy 🇩🇪 Every visit to Heidelberg Haus has been a delicious detour into joy. Whether we're sitting down for a cozy bite or picking up one of their decadent cakes for a special occasion, this gem never disappoints. The food and desserts are consistently delicious. My wife always raves about the Black Forest cake—rich, chocolatey, and perfectly layered. My personal favorite is the Yellow Cake with Rum Fudge and Caramel Butter Cream icing. It’s got the kind of flavor that makes you close your eyes and do the happy fork dance. Yes, that's a thing now. Beyond the baked brilliance, the shop itself is a treasure trove of unique gifts and German groceries. From quirky trinkets to authentic imports, every shelf feels curated with care and charm. What seals the deal? The outstanding service. Warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. And the pricing? Surprisingly reasonable, especially for the high quality. You leave full—in both stomach and spirit—but your wallet doesn’t feel ambushed.

8/19/25 Angie was on duty and came over to take my cookie order. I get Almond Tartlet, Black Forest and Red velvet. I get three doughboys for myself, but hide them from my wife since I’m diabetic. Angie put them in a baggie for me. I’m glad Angie was on duty. She kept the same friendly attitude with the next customer. 8/14/25 Izzy was working when I came in to get my wife her order of cookies. Izzy was helping a few customers at the register, but she made sure to acknowledge me and made me feel welcomed. It didn’t take her long before she came over and helped me. This update is let everyone know that if Izzy is on duty you’re going to be welcomed! 7/30/25 This my wife’s favorite place to eat and get cookies when we’re in Indy. I’m here for work so I’ve been coming here once a week for cookies. They have a large selection to choose from. Each time I’ve gone in there’s someone available to help. They have a friendly staff. It doesn’t matter what time or day you go in you feel welcomed walking in. The cookies are sold by the pound. I usually spend about $20. Today Lilly was on duty and she was more than helpful as she answered my questions and waited patiently while I was texting my wife to get her order. Thank you Lilly for your great customer service!

I've been coming here for years. The decor is totally over the top which is quite entertaining. They offer a fantastic selection of all sorts of cakes and pastries, including things you will not find anywhere else in Indy. Service here is excellent. It's a great place for a hot meal that is authentically European, but my favorite thing to order is the iced coffee / coffee milkshake. It's served in a frosted mug or tall fountain glass topped with whipped cream sprinkled with cinnamon. Refreshing and delicious!

I visited here for the first time today. I’m German on my mom’s side. Our family name is Stoudenheimer. I walked in and felt an overwhelming sense of homecoming. I got a jar of pickles, a piece of bee sting, some meat, a glass dragon, and the mug pictured below. I met the owner and he was so sweet and friendly. All of the young ladies were kind as well. I can’t wait to return!

Best lunch ever. It was a delightful combination of flavors that danced on my palate, leaving me completely satisfied. The fresh ingredients burst with color and taste, making each bite a joy. The atmosphere was perfect, with soft music playing in the background and the warm sunlight streaming through the window. I savored every moment, knowing that this experience would linger in my memory long after the meal was over. As I finished my last bite, I couldn't help but smile, feeling grateful for such a wonderful dining experience.

Lovely. It's such a unique place. From the moment we parked, we knew we were in for an experience. The outside of the building has a beautiful mural. Inside, the maximalist decor and various goods for sale hide hidden treasures. Tables tucked around every corner provide a unique dining environment for each party. The menu is simple, reasonably priced, and delicious. The baked goods are fantastic. The atmosphere is priceless.

Located inside the historic Athenaeum building, Coat Check Coffee is a charming cafe that repurposes the former coat check room into a cozy communal space with intricate woodwork. The menu features gourmet coffee, including their signature butterscotch latte made with regional dairy milk and homemade syrups. In addition to beverages, they offer delectable pastries such as buttery chocolate croissants and granola made in-house.
Been here a couple of times and have really enjoyed the drinks I've gotten. They have in house baked goods that smell amazing and they sometimes have native bread cookies which are gluten free. Wish I could try their chocolate chip cookies, they look really yummy. They even have lunch options. I really like their chocolate Latte. The space is nice, cozy, with a great location.

Really cool place! So much history and beautiful architecture. It’s connected to the Rathskeller! Its big and has lots of space to do whatever. Plenty of seats. The croissant and biscuit were delicious. There was other food available! It was busy but the workers got things out fast!

We like to switch up our coffee shop routine on the weekends, and this spot’s actually a solid choice. They’ve got a nice rotation of pastries that change often, which keeps things interesting, and their coffee has gotten better since my first visit. I’ll be honest, the first time I came, it didn’t really hit—but they’ve definitely improved since then. Butterscotch and Pistachio with oat milk are our go-tos. It’s more of a grab-and-go place depending on when you stop by. A lot of people come here to work, so seating can be hit or miss. If I had to nitpick, it’d be the attitude — not rude, just a hint of that hipster indie energy. Overall, it’s still worth stopping by.
Yadira — Google review
If heaven had a coffee bar, it would taste like Coat Check Coffee! ☕️✨ I ordered the butterscotch latte and a brown butter chocolate chip cookie with salt, and wow—perfection from the first sip to the last crumb. The latte was smooth, creamy, and perfectly balanced—not too sweet, just that cozy butterscotch richness that makes you want to linger a little longer. And that cookie? Absolute bliss. Soft in the middle, crisp at the edges, with that touch of salt that makes every bite addictive. Between the warm, welcoming vibe and the quality of everything they serve, Coat Check Coffee has officially earned a spot on my favorites list. Highly recommend stopping in—you won’t regret it! 💛

I'll be honest I have been skeptical to try Coat Check since the atmosphere is not my favorite. Cortado was okay. Tried a washed Peruvian drip today and it was actually pretty tasty. Good people. I probably wouldn't come again because it's not my favorite atmosphere, but they have a unique selection.

Just an average coffee place in a cool building. Definitely 5 stars for atmosphere. The tea was decent and the breakfast sandwich was alright, just kind of over-priced. I think after tax and tip it was $21.

Had to grab some coffee after flying in. This is a great spot! Atmosphere is authentic and historical—loved reading all the German history plaques in the building. We had lattes (a Lavender and a Butterscotch iced) and the presentation was great, sadly I forgot to take a photo. The lattes were not too sweet and really good! Perfect pick-me-ups. Also had a a yummy croissant. Highly recommend. Friendly service. Great coffee. Cool location.

They really have good coffee but I’ve been having really bad experiences with their services the last couple of times. I got a croissant from them and I asked if that could be warmed up to which the barista said “sorry we don’t have anything to warm up”, which is dumb. Like you are telling me you have stuff to make a croissant but not to warm it up and you want me to eat that stale croissant that’s been sitting there since morning?! Today I went to get a coffee and they charge a good fortune for their coffee, I got a vanilla latte and this is what they served me in - a water cup!

Their extensive menu includes fresh donuts, danishes, cookies, coffee cakes, and seasonal specialties. The bakery is celebrated for its exquisite decorating and beautiful presentation of their delicacies. One of their must-try treats is the famous Raspberry Angel Food Cake.
Taylor's may be known for their donuts, but they're cakes are just as good. I ordered my son's First Communion cake online (easy, quick) and it was ready when I requested. We are the couple who ate our wedding cake topper the weekend after our wedding. We didn’t freeze it and wait to eat it on our first anniversary. But we did make it a tradition to buy an 8” wedding cake every year to eat on our anniversary. A few years ago our caterer stopped selling wedding cakes, and that’s when we found Taylor’s Bakery. This is our 3rd or 4th year buying our anniversary wedding cake from Taylor’s, and every year we have an amazing experience with them. I always call them to order it, and they are so accommodating and friendly. I don’t know if they have an online ordering option, but if they don’t, they should. Don’t get me started on how magnificent their cakes are. Sublime would be a good word for them. Heavenly. I have been to of the great bakeries in Indianapolis, and Taylor’s is still at the top of my list. We will use them as long as they stay in business or until both of us are dead!

Such a quick turn around, they were able to pick it up the next day at 10 am. It was perfect, simple, and just so easy. I called and placed the order on friday over the phone as I’m in a completely different state and payed for it and then my best friend picked it up the next day. I cannot get over just how BLUE the cake is, so vibrant. Thank you so much Taylor’s Bakery!🩵 plus of course the cake also taste good as I was told!

The Flying Cupcake is a charming bakery with multiple locations in Indianapolis and its suburbs, offering a delightful array of cupcakes in various flavors and styles. In addition to their brick-and-mortar shops, the bakery operates two food trucks known as Petunia and Penelope, which have gained popularity by serving up delectable treats all over the city.
My favorite cupcakes in the world! They are absolutely delicious!! So good u wanna lick the box clean too! My only complaint is for the price you pay for them they should be packaged a little better. It would have been nice to have a package that fit six. They might have transported better on my 3 hour drive. They were in a huge box with paper rolled up next to them.
Sondra D — Google review
My friend bought me some gluten-free cupcakes from here yesterday when she picked up an order for a party. The regular cupcakes looked amazing, the icing was smooth and not hard to the touch. My gluten-free cupcakes were as hard as a rock, both the frosting and the actual cupcake. I could barely get a fork into the cupcake because it was so hard. I could even pick up the cupcakes by just the frosting, so again that tells you they weren’t fresh at all. The texture was also extremely grainy and it was tough to chew and swallow. The vanilla cupcake legitimately just tastes like corn bread. I would rather a business say that they don’t have gluten-free options than to offer such horrible options at such a high price. These were very obviously baked several days ago by the state of the icing and the cupcake and again, sold for full price.

Went in to try the cupcakes and they were really nice! We tried the red velvet and chocolate truffle cupcake. Food:The red velvet was super moist and tasted heavenly! The chocolate truffle was a bit dry but good taste. Ambience: The place doesn’t look like at all in the photos! The place is more rustic and with fewer tables than before. Just one dedicated table and others overlooking the street. But overall nice and great song selection

I ate my cake and had it.😂👇🏼 After a cupcake, you're left with a bit of guilt in the back of your mind. How will you manage to justify that last indulgent bite?🤷🏻 The answer is simple. Heart-shaped, ❤️with a range of flavors, you can never go wrong with this adorable confectionery shop 🍰 Make a good recommendation 👍 People also ask: What were cupcakes first called? Fun Facts About Cupcakes. In the 1700's, Cupcakes were originally referred to as number cakes. The first cupcake recipe was invented in 1776. It was a light cake that was baked in small cups. What is a fun fact about cupcakes? The record for eating the most cupcakes in the shortest time is 29 cupcakes in 30 seconds. The world's largest cupcake weighed over 1,200 lbs. and had over 2 million calories. The first “cupcake only” bakery is Sprinkles Cupcakes, opened in 2005. What is the most expensive cupcake? The Golden Phoenix Behold "The Golden Phoenix." Hailed as the world's most expensive cupcake, the pricey dessert costs a whopping £645 ($1,000) at Dubai's Bloomsbury's Cupcakes. Nice quaint spot....nicely decorated!! Lots of whimsical old-fashioned decor which was very cute. The cupcakes are good... different flavors to choose from. Not a huge selection, but it's not a huge location....so it works for where they are. There is no price list, so we weren't sure how much the cupcakes were until she added up the bill. We were able to sit down and taste the cupcakes.. it was kind of hard choosing a favorite, but we definitely had some 1st & 2nd place ties. I would visit again if I were in town visiting.

Fast service! And yummy food! My first time coming here! Glad i did the food was really good and fresh tasting! We got the most popular, the classic chicken! 10/10! The cost is kinda higher for 6” -$13. But its homemade so its worth it. The store is super small so not any seats! The parking is small. But definitely recommend

The older lady was rude, the younger one was helpful. The old lady was more concerned about who was on my phone and what they were talking about than helping me. The pies were burnt and I saw that when I went back to the truck. I came back to inquire and she wanted to see and said it was the jam... Why is there jam burnt on the bottom when there is NONE inside the pastry?!? She said they were all the same with red pepper that's all she kept saying but there were two types two of those burnt ones which we lost half the pastry cutting that part off. The others were jalapeno and cream cheese, the last was cat food or something in there. Idk what that was but it was a weird flavor. Wasn't a fan of the apple crumble and I hate root beer but they tossed in the minis to get rid of them but that was the only thing able to be eaten the rest of them hand pies were dry and had a filing in the last one was not able to be identified it was a creamy mess inside. I won't be doing pies any time soon but when I do it won't be from this location. If it wasn't for the young lady I would not have added 4 stars for the atmosphere and two for the service.

If anyone said to me that I would love a sugar cream pie would never have expected that. I usually think pies are too unhealthy or what not but had to give this a try on a trip. We really picked the best place to get this by because it was phenomenal! Them a really large variety of pie options. They were available but we were there for that famous to the green pie so had to take that one. Fire was served cold but that was no issue at all. It was perfectly sweet and not too sugary sweet (I didn't usually go for sugary sweet stuff). Creamy and smooth and with a perfectly flaky crust and just overall delicious. It had a creme brulee kind of a topping on top which made it even better. Husband that I open this as soon as we got into the car. Finished it in a matter of minutes and then wanted more. That's how good it was!

Perfect pies ✔️ from a cute little shop with friendly people. Seriously, y'all were so patient as I indecisively mulled over which of the many delicious pie options. We ended up getting a supreme pizza hand pie, and individual slices of the sugar creme brulee and the blackbottom frangipane. My favorite was the creme brulee since I have a sweeter palette but my significant other really liked the frangipane as it was less sweet and had a bit of a kick of salt and depth of flavor. The hand pie was a little different than I was expecting. It was good but definitely for someone who likes cheese on a pizza more than I do, because I love tomato and I was hoping for more of a tomato flavor. I'm going to need to come back to try the other pies as well as get one of the take-home and bake pies as those seem to be more of the savory hearty variety. Check out these photos!

I got a the lamb pie from the broad ripple farmer market. I had high hopes because I love lamb. But this pie STINKS! The meat does not taste great at all and there’s only 1 piece of meat inside. It’s filled 98% of just the sauce and some beans. Do not recommend. What a ripoff
Mai K — Google review
What a disappointment. 3 different items and they were all bad. Creme brule pie was not sweet at all and the top was completely burnt. The Shoofly pie was probably the nastiest thing I have ever eaten and the oatmeal cream pie tasted like an oatmeal cookie with a glob of butter in the middle. The cream had no sweetness at all. We drove over 100 miles to try this place because of TikTok and will never do this again. Update : we also got a frozen to go Mac and cheese pie. To continue on the disappointment journey. Spoiler: this is not a pot pie at all. Just a pie pan with Mac and cheese in it.

We picked up a small biscuits and gravy pie for dinner, and I cannot believe how delicious it is! The gravy tastes homemade, and the crust is made with love. I look forward to trying another one of their pies soon!
Allison S — Google review
I’ve tried at least 6 different savory pot pies. The flavor combinations are incredibly well thought out and balanced. The pies are simply amazing. I still haven’t figured out exactly what oven setting, temperature, and length of cooking works best but the crust and filling is so good that it doesn’t even matter if you cook it correctly. Also, their shortbread chocolate chip cookies are hands down the best cookie I’ve ever had. Forget just the best chocolate chip cookie, the best cookie of any kind from any place I’ve ever tasted. Simply amazing. Highly recommend

Bakery
Le Croissant French Bakery has been drawing crowds since January, with people lining up every Tuesday through Saturday for a taste of their delectable French pastries and bread. The shop is run by Mexican immigrant Pedro Ulloa and his team, who create a variety of treats including flaky sweet and savory croissants, creme puffs, quiches, and San Francisco sourdough. However, it's important to arrive early as the pastries tend to sell out quickly.
Truly amazing. The best around. When you step into Le Croissant you step out of Greenwood and France. The aroma of the pastries is delightful, the owner, his family and the rest of their staff are so polite and welcoming. And the pastries taste like nothing you have ever had before, they are very large so bring your appetite and they are heavenly. The owner only serves the best of the best so if something isn’t right he will not serve it and when they run out each day well then run out and the doors close so make sure you are in there first. I love this place.

I love a good croissant & this place is no exception! Tucked in a strip mall this little bakery hides some delicious treats! The prices are fair for the size & quality of the pastries. The service was friendly & kind as I took my time deciding what to order. My personal favorite is the Strawberry Croissant!

I am sorry it took me so long to come here. I have been driving past this place for so many years. I had no idea it was here. But now I know. All of the pastries looked amazing. I am a fan of anything pistachio and was very pleased to find pistachio croissants on display. I absolutely loved it. I will definitely be back. I might try something else, but I know I will be back for these pistachio croissants!

I’m embarrassed by how long it’s taken me to leave this review. My aunt, cousin, my cousin’s daughter, and I visited Le Croissant French Bakery in July 2024. It was all our first time! The LCFB team was nice and professional. We had a very positive experience ordering! Funny story, I thought I was ordering a tomato and cheese danish, turns out it was a cherry and cream cheese. No foul on the LCFB team, it was all on me! I took one bit and was like this is so sweet! 😂😂😂 It was absolutely delicious! My only suggestion is to offer more outdoor seating!

What do you get for someone that has everything? That was my dilemma with my friend's birthday. I recalled she mentioned loving sourdough bread. I wanted it to be as fresh as possible. I found Le Croissant in my Google search and called them .They had 2 loaves left and held them for me. Very friendly service and plenty of other baked goods I will be trying. The sourdough bread was a big hit!

Bakery
Landlocked Baking Company is a newly established neighborhood bakery in the heart of Indianapolis' Irvington neighborhood. It has gained popularity for its delectable pastries and savory croissants, which are also supplied to local establishments like Coat Check Coffee and Provider. The cozy atmosphere and friendly staff make visitors feel right at home, while the limited menu offers incredible traditional baked goods with a vegan or vegetarian twist.
My favorite place for pastries/brunch/coffee. Lattes are second best in Indy in my opinion (second to Milktooth ) , but I rank this place overall higher than Milktooth based off of service and atmosphere. Staff is friendly, I never get a feeling of being snubbed, food is great- I had a short rib burrito- great flavor with a dill aioli- and a demara spice latte. Ive tried butterscotch and pistachio lattes, always consistently great tasting. The fact that they use dandy breeze milk (jersey cows) makes for great milk texture in drinks. Definitely a place to get espresso based drinks or drip coffee no option for pour overs. Pastries are typically tasty and creative. Its fun to see what they put together. The only downside of my visit was our coffee was served in to-go cups and not in glass or ceramic. Some times they do table service, sometimes its counter service- not sure if table service is just on weekends with an expanded menu.

Vegan donuts were very good, and even better when warmed up. The first time I ordered the vegan BLT it was delicious. I omitted the tomatoes, added avocado spread and extra yum yum sauce. (The yum yum sauce is vegan). Bread was buttery and yummy, the tempeh was SO flavorful! It was an excellent sandwich! I went back a few days later (on a Saturday), and it wasn’t that good. The bread was partially burnt, the tempeh wasn’t as flavorful and the portion was much smaller. Bummer that I couldn’t relive the initial deliciousness. Vegan Brussels Sprouts were delicious. I was supposed to get vegan bacon bits (tempeh bits) but I guess they forgot them. They also made me a vegan Horchata milkshake and that mofo was fire!! They’re not always available, so ask ahead of time. It’s a really cute space. The front house employees are always really nice and helpful.

Ambience is good. Free parking. Friendly welcoming staff. Food is good and unique! Food presentation 5/5. It’s not a regular avocado toast or regular Brussels sprout salad! It is different. Take a time to enjoy your food, enjoy the ambience. Limited menu options but fair enough to explore the menu throughout the day. Any dish in the menu can be made VEGAN or VEGETARIAN. Even coffee had OAT MILK option in the dispenser. ( other franchises charges extra for oat milk!) Smoke free. Pet friendly. Come with friend/ family/ loved one, it’s a great getaway from busy life.

I've been wanting to come here for years -- but hadn't had a chance until today. Super excited about the menu, and all of the vegan options! The staff was very friendly, and were very careful about my husband's egg allergy. He ordered a vegan lime donut: when he bit into it he raved about the texture and gave it a 8/10 He also ordered the Italian hero sandwich and said 10/10 best sandwich he has had in america-- with vegan mayo too! The drinks we got were both excellent 👌 10/10 for both the golden milk late and also the spiced Demerara steamer. Cannot recommend them enough. The barista actually took lemon peel, ran it over flame, and then squeezed it over the top 😍🤯 I asked the cashier to just pick a baked good for me to try-- she selected the croissant basket that had a blueberries and a lemon pastry cream 9/10 very good My husband has declared this is our new favorite place 😅

Visited on a Sunday. The parking lot is small and shared with another business but I was easily able to find street parking so there wasn't an issue. I was seated almost immediately and greeted by my server shortly after. This is a cozy spot and I love the retro decor. I tried the oat milk ginger latte and it was uniquely delicious. Not too sweet not too overpowering. I also got the miso grits with mushrooms and vegan cinnamon donuts. The grits were amazing and hearty, made me sweat from the heat but were worth the burn. The donut was the perfect amount of sweetness and had a nice fluffy texture. I also tries their drip coffee black and it was a delicious way to end my meal. Upon leaving I decided to grab my family some pastries and was pleasantly surprised at all the vegan options they had for me! I can't wait to go back and try more. I also got my first golden milk latte also didn't disappoint. I drove a little over an hour and it was worth the drive. Will definitely be returning sooner rather than later!

Fantastic vegan doughnuts!!! Delightful vegan chocolate chip cookie!! The avocado toast is a work of art for eyes and for the nose and for the mouth. I am very excited to try the cinnamon rolls next. Glad I don't live nearby or else I'd be here multiple times a day!

Best vegan donut I have had is the coconut lime. Their golden milk didn't just taste like milk with syrup but thoroughly spiced. Very allergy conscious. Amazing sandwich. My absolute favorite new American place. Correct vibe, great staff, just a win.

The lighting was terrible for these photos. But you know what wasn't? The food. It was all delicious. We went to @landlockedbakingco for brunch. We have had their coffee and pastries before but they recently expanded and serve brunch now. We had the Gorgonza Grits and the Peaches N Cream Brûléed french toast (the french toast is just a special for this week). To drink we had a regular oatmilk latte and an iced horchata latte.we also got a classic croissant (not pictured). We love this east side gem.

My daughter and I stopped by this small local business while we were in town. We decided to come here cause we had such a sweet tooth and wanted something very good to eat on the road back home. To say the least we brought the Strawberry Crunch and the Banana Pudding flavors. We both were very disappointed in the taste, as bad as we wanted to like it, it just wasn't giving what we wanted. The taste was very lackluster and the cream cheese has a tart taste and lacking flavor, more of a pudding taste. I did expect for maybe some bananas to be in the banana pudding one, but it wasn't, which was disappointing as well. We truly wanted to love it, but the more I tasted it, the more I realize it just wasn't hitting. I wished we would have went out first mind and got the smaller portion, cause we wasted majority of it. But I will say the owner was very nice and pleasant with a welcoming spirit.

I’ve been a customer since 2022 & I’ve been to the cheesecake lady for all of my occasions even just to pop up an buy from her. Only place I go for cheesecake! Honestly it’s heaven in one bite my tastebuds don’t know how to act lol funny but very very true! Mark my words! She’s also a true friend and very sweet and beautiful inside an out! Mama cardi B loves her cheesecake creations too!

What a cute place with such lovely decadent desserts!!! I enjoyed my banana Biscoff pudding which was light and didn’t carry any intense banana flavor. There were a whole variety of flavors such as cherry, strawberry, raspberry, cookies and cream and chocolate brownies. The cheesecakes are served in 6oz and 12oz plastic to go cups which are pretty easy and convenient to carry. Customer service was quick and easy. Locally owned this place is a keeper and definitely recommend!

Had to come support this local small business and check out what I been hearing about! The place is very beautiful and clean. The atmosphere is welcoming and chill. Customer service was amazing!! But when it came to the cheesecake I was left very underwhelmed. It tasted more like a pudding to me. I just tasted a tart sour whipped cream cheese. The crust wasn’t there to support the crunch I needed. The flavors was decent but it didn’t give me cheesecake vibes. I wish her all the success but it wasn’t good for me.

Café Babette is a charming French bakery known for its delectable pastries that are as delightful to look at as they are to eat. The shop operates on Fridays and Saturdays until everything is sold out, adding an air of exclusivity to the experience. Despite its unassuming location and unconventional retail hours, patrons rave about the exceptional quality of the pastries.
The is a place to experience. It definitely feels like a mom and pop shop...which it is. Ordering ahead was recommended in the many reviews we read, but we didn't do that. We waited in-line and enjoyed the anticipation with the rest of the friendly customers. We bought way too much. The pastries were beautiful and large. My wife said the croissants are the real deal. The cheese scone was actually both of our favorites. I was a little disappointed by the sweet ones, but seems like that is just personal preference or maybe just because the hype was so high. Most items were croissant based. I think I just prefer ooey-gooey to flaky and crispy. If you like flaky and crispy this is THE place. The flavors were all very good.
Joshua W — Google review
Cafe Babette is incredible! This little shop is a hidden gem right next to Garfield Park. My friend and I showed up at 8:20 Friday morning and there was a pretty short line at that point and pastries still warm from the oven. They have such an incredible selection of desserts it was so hard to choose. The staff are incredibly friendly and informative, the whole place is very laid back and has such a comforting environment. I got the raspberry pistachio white chocolate croissant, herb and cheese scone and a s’mores cookie and they were all three INCREDIBLE. So so delicious and so beautiful. People had said it was expensive, so I went in prepared to drop some money but they were actually not that expensive!! Completely and totally worth it, and the quality and quantity is worth so much more than what they charge. Could not recommend them more, plan ahead for sure and be strategic as the line can grow fast.

Genius, delectable, , delicious , artisan, quality, uniqueness. Just a few words to describe what a an absolute wonderful bakery this is. We have traveled extensively through Europe and I would put this head to head with any patisserie or bakery in Europe. Such an absolutely incredible experience you can order ahead and they’ll have your order ready for you for pick up or you can wait in line and keep your fingers crossed that there’s actually something left when it’s your turn in line. Oh and I almost forgot to mention some of their baked goods are almost the diameter of a basketball. A Hoosier treasure! Also if you sign up online on their website you’ll be able to get the following week’s menu so you can order ahead!
Anthony V — Google review
My wife and I went to Café Babette this morning and got in line about an hour before they opened. The food itself was excellent — flavorful, creative, and absolutely worth the hype. However, the overall process could use some serious fine-tuning. They opened the doors more than fifteen minutes late, and the line was one of the most disorganized I’ve ever seen. Once inside, there were just two tables in a small room — one for sweet pastries and one for savory — but nothing was labeled. The staff had to explain each item over and over, which slowed everything down and seemed exhausting for them. It also left people in line unsure of what to order, adding to the delay. If they streamlined the ordering process, posted a menu ahead of time, or found a way to communicate what’s available before customers walk in, it would make a world of difference. I don’t mind waiting for great food (I’ll happily do it at Franklin Barbecue in Austin), but when the wait drags because of avoidable inefficiencies, it takes away from the experience. That said, once you finally get your food, it’s delicious — and worth a visit if you have patience and time to spare.
Alex N — Google review
My wife and I picked up our pre-order on Saturday, and decided to stand in line to purchase pastries we hadn't purchased online. The line was orderly, and the staff was very friendly and helpful. Wow. Our family is impressed with the quality and taste of all the savory and sweet croissants, cookies and cakes we purchased. The best tasting croissants outside of New York City, Quebec and Paris because they were both flaky and tender. Truly a mom and pop shop that has perfected the croissants. Very well worth the visit and continued business.
Leonard C — Google review
Another mid, poorly executed business charging luxury prices. We drove 45 minutes and spent $23 on a doughy croissant and a piece of cake that I could have bought from Kroger. When you walk into the dingy building there are old mismatched tables setup with the baked goods. No labels for the food, nothing on the walls. We came at 9:30am on Friday for breakfast and I really wanted the quiche, but they don’t serve it warm. I opted for the twice baked pecan croissant. It was hard as rock on the outside and doughy like a cinnamon role on the inside…not croissant-like at all and minimal flavor. We also got the chocolate cake and it’s absolutely nothing special. This is another business out for a money grab. There were like 5 options available and it looked nothing like the images I saw online.
Rachel M — Google review
It’s been amazing to see this business grow. I am excited to see what’s next. The loyal following that they have amassed is absolutely brilliant. I honestly don’t have the patience to wait in line for an hour. I only stop if there is no line. The pastries I have tried have all been amazing. Honestly coming here is pure indulgence. This is an impulse buy. I am not going to ever order in advance. That’s just me. I like rolling the dice and seeing what they have left when I show up. I’d love to see them improve the ambiance, be open more than three days a week, provide a place for customers to sit… make it feel like a real cafe. Or maybe not… I guess they have all of us trained that this is the way it is going to be if you want these coveted pastries. Maybe they don’t have to change a thing. My advice would be to order ahead if you don’t want to wait in the long line.

4 Birds Bakery offers a delightful selection of cookies and baked goods that are perfect for satisfying your sweet tooth. Their chocolate chip cookies strike the perfect balance between crunchy and chewy, making them an irresistible treat. In addition to their delectable sweets, 4 Birds Bakery also serves light dinner options such as the Hot Diggity Dog and flavorful potato salad with crumbled chips on top. Visitors rave about the quality of their blondies, chocolate chip cookies, and peanut butter cookies at farmers markets.
The delicious smell hit me in the face as soon as I walked in. I was greeted by the owner, Jenna, who actually helped me. She was very sweet (as sweet as the aroma of the bakery). I ended up purchasing a chocolate chip/peanut butter cookie and four brownies. The establishment was clean, and the workers were actually making fresh goods while I was in there, which is impressive. They are also partnered with penn and beech, with a special candle which smelled AMAZING. Thanks to Yelp, I was able to experience a new bakery for the first time. I'll definitely be back. This place is a hidden gem.

Wow, what a delicious experience! I grabbed a breakfast sandwich from the Garfield Farmers Market, and let me tell you, it was a flavor explosion! I devoured half for breakfast and saved the other half for lunch—just popped it in the toaster oven, and it was still amazing. The variety of flavors and the top-notch English muffin have me craving more. I can't wait to go back for another round! 🍳🥪✨

What a great offering of fresh, delicious, mouth watering goods! Their sour cream biscuits are amazing, soft inside, crunchy on the outside. I am already dreaming of tomorrow’s breakfast, just some warm butter and ham on these… what a treat! Their cookies are simply delicious, always fresh. Our favorites: salted chocolate chip and oatmeal maple pecan. Their food is great, but their customer service is even better! I was just visiting Indy for the weekend and reached out to place an order, as I was badly craving their cookies, not realizing they would be closed today. Jenna picked up my call and even though the bakery was closed to the public, she actually offered to get my order ready. You definitely made my day, thank you so much Jenna!
