Cafe
Floriole Cafe & Bakery is a bright and sleek establishment in Lincoln Park that offers a variety of European-style pastries and lunch options. Since reopening, they have been serving fan favorites like Basque Cakes, Buckwheat Scones, quiche, and croissants. They have recently added Eggnog Caneles, Stollen, and an enticing Gingersnap Lime pie to their menu for the holiday season.
This café was packed on a gorgeous Saturday , and the staff handled the rush like pros—friendly, efficient, and keeping things moving smoothly. Lots of seats on Dec floor with restroom!! Everything on the menu looked amazing, especially the sweets. Quiche is the best and love the carrot cake they offered. Great coffee where is from my favorite coffee bean roastery, Metric! It’s clear why this place is so popular.
Heather J — Google review
Very good bakery! Love how spacious the second floor is! They have very good ham and cheese croissants, strawberries shortcakes! Especially should try their early gray tea lattee! It is delicious
Nancy S — Google review
GREAT variety of rare and not that rare pastries. Kiddo friendly place, close to a park and yoga stuff. The quiche is missing some flavor, the pastries are good looking, outstanding presentation, perhaps that is why the flavor is a bit dissatisfied, imo. Few coffees options, would like to see they adventure to mix drinks and pastries like a pastry late or doughnut coffee shake. Service is good and fast.
Cristian H — Google review
A must-visit if you’re in Lincoln Park, their menu is constantly rotating depending on what’s in season. The onion marmalade & sweet potato danish is my favorite, the honey pecan sticky bun is a close second.
Claire M — Google review
A bit overpriced, but reasonably so as you can tell all pastries and bread are high quality. The canales are delectable and the perfect moist, spongey texture. The coffee was fine, but the pastries are definitely the stars. Their fresh baked sourdough is perfectly moist and dense (which I prefer). The seating areas are also perfect with a good amount of outdoor and lots of indoor!
Elysia D — Google review
beautiful cafe- lots of seating too! i wish i could give 4.5 stars bc the only thing was that i was not a fan of the coffee (and i am definitely not a coffee snob but something was just off) :/ the pastries and bread are FIRE, and there are lots of options to choose from on that end. i think the prices of the bakery items are fair for the quality but this is not your cheap coffee joint, which is fine! definitely try the ricotta toast or any seasonal items‼️‼️
Ella S — Google review
Super fun atmosphere lots of seating pastries were good but not great We got the strawberry tart, the canele, a chocolate croissant, and the kogi aman (can’t spell it) The strawberries were awesome, and the pastry came good, but the tart crust was super dry and brittle. I get that that’s the style for some of these small fruit tarts, but I never enjoy it very much. The canele was well done. But it just taste almost burnt on the outside and kind of doughy on the inside. The chocolate croissant was nothing special. The kogi aman was great! Would get it again. Super crispy on the outside buttery on the inside. If everything was as good as this one pastry, it would’ve been a five out of five for sure.
Joshua D — Google review
Bad coffee and bad hospitality. My friend and I were looking for a new coffee shop to visit. Instead of greeting us kindly and giving us some guidance on the menu, the woman at the front was being super passive aggressive at taking our order seemingly irritable and impatient even though we took like 2 seconds to order. If the coffee was decent, I would obviously say so, but to top it all off, my latte tasted like it had no coffee- just milk. Also it’s super overpriced. I would definitely consider going elsewhere

Bakery
Lost Larson in Wicker Park is a bakery and cafe that offers a variety of bread, pastries, sandwiches, and quiches. The menu reflects the Scandinavian influence on the neighborhood with items like lingonberry hibiscus lemonade, seasonal danishes, lingonberry almond cake, and traditional Danish-Norwegian open-faced sandwiches called smorrebrods.
Got the ham and cheese croissant. It was HUGE and delicious. The texture leaned a bit crispy over soft. There is both indoor and outdoor seating The customer service here is genuinely the best I’ve experienced. 100% am coming back to try more!
Bits B — Google review
First sip I took, I got straight clumps of bitter matcha. I ordered it with almond milk and vanilla and the drink tasted very artificial. Not worth nearly $10. For feedback, I suggest sifting the matcha powder to eliminate clumps/gritty texture. I’m not sure what brand of milk alternatives + syrups they use, but I recommend using the Califia Farms organic line (good taste + clean ingredients), and maybe making homemade syrups or buy a better tasting brand to avoid tasting so artificial.
Malia M — Google review
I visited the Lost Larson location in Wicker Park for the first time. I tried a variety of items: a cheddar scone, savory croissant, cookie, almond cake, and blueberry muffin. Overall, everything was pretty good. My favorites were definitely the almond cake and the cookie, they stood out the most in terms of flavor and texture.
Minjeong ( — Google review
Absolutely loved it! Beautiful interior and all pastries were phenomenal! Highly recommend chocolate hazelnut croissant and almond berry pastry
Anastasia D — Google review
Lost Larson was a chill bakery to check out. They had great coffee and pastries. I ordered the lavender latte and the salmon, which was fresh, flavorful, and a good portion — definitely worth the price. The presentation was also very nice. Seating is a bit limited, but the space feels clean and calm, which I really appreciate. The staff were attentive and worked quickly, keeping everything running smoothly.
Zayoodi A — Google review
My favorite bakery in the neighborhood! I am impressed that they mill their own flour the traditional method. And their store is super cute.
Amanda D — Google review
Lost Larson is our go to every single time we are in Chicago - which is a lot - w/ baby grandson. Their fresh cardamon buns ALWAYS make a trip back to DC ; even after having eaten our fair share of Lost Larson Sweets while we were visiting all week! Their Lingonberry torte is prima- as are the rest of their treats. Pleasant atmosphere to sit w/ coffee as well. Once I spent a few hours comfortably holed up there while a Chicago blizzard stormed outside; can you even imagine a more pleasant place to be stuck? Hot Chocolate & coffee, Almands & the aforementioned Lingonberry tortes- what a sanctuary indeed!🥰
Lark B — Google review
Fantastic upscale bakery on a quiet stretch of division. Coffee is decent and the drink menu is fairly small, but where this place really shines is the fresh baked goods. The selection can get a bit sparse the later in the day that you go, but everything is fresh baked daily and once it's gone, it's gone! There's also a small nook in the back that has some merchandise including berry preserves, very nice chocolate, and canned fish.

La Fournette is a charming family-owned French bakery located in Chicago, offering an array of traditional breads and pastries. The bakery's rustic wood decor adds to its authentic ambiance, where visitors can indulge in a variety of sweet and savory treats. From kouglof to tarte flambee, beer bread to macarons, La Fournette showcases a dedication to using quality ingredients and time-honored baking techniques.
This is the real deal French patisserie, staff even speak French in the background. That’s how you know it’s authentic. I ordered an amazing almond croissant, best I’ve had in Chicago. It’s clear they use quality ingredients they’ve put a lot of thought into. Fast service, didn’t wait long to get my order. They had good looking baguettes I wish I could’ve tried, maybe next time. Overall I definitely recommend La Fournette, worth a visit.
Naz N — Google review
Went there with a friend, got an almond croissant and hazelnut and cinnamon bread. I liked the almond croissant, friend liked the hazelnut and cinnamon bread, small bakery, good neighborhood.
Vidhee M — Google review
We were happy to find this cozy and pleasant pastry shop. It was a 50 min walk from where we were, but it was worth it to escape the boring and plain touristic options we saw around the hotels around the Loop. You open the doors and immediatly smell the aromas of good butter and flour. The staff is friendly and welcoming. We loved the croissants and we ordered a loaf of bread to take back to St Louis, and it tasted great next morning! The coffee is not the greatest, but it is ok.
Igor H — Google review
Excellent service, excellent croissant! Very good coconut macaroon, light and crisp. The madeleines we're not for me, too soft and flavor not on point. The quiche was also surprisingly strange. It was a rectangle slice from a sheet pan and had no height. Seems like a solid bread/croissant bakery overall.
Linda T — Google review
Great bakery! Loved their chicken spinach quieche and very good baguette
Nancy S — Google review
Everything I’ve ordered from this French bakery has been excellent, but I highly recommend the chocolate pound cake slices. While pound cake can sometimes be dry, their slices will melt in your mouth! Baked to perfection! Add berries and some whipped cream when you get home and you’ll have a wonderful dessert. 😜
Chilthr — Google review
The Vegetable quiche was the best we've ever had. Also the most unique. Very buttery crust and the vegetables (celery, onion, carrot, zucchini) give it this delicious thanksgiving stuffing aroma (probably a little sage in there too). Perfect texture on the filling and crisp all around
Daniel H — Google review
By far the best bread in Chicago. This boulangerie feels like a little piece of France tucked into the city. From the warm bonjour that greets you to the smell of fresh bread that fills the air, everything here feels genuine and inviting. The pastries are delicate and perfectly flaky, and the breads have that golden crust with a soft, airy interior. The smell of bread alone warms my soul. It’s the kind of place that makes you want to slow down, sip your coffee, and just enjoy being there. A true gem and easily my favorite bakery in Chicago.

Wholesale bakery
Aya Pastry, located in West Town, is a renowned bakery led by the talented Michelin-starred pastry chef Aya Fukai. The menu offers a wide variety of sweet and savory treats, including overstuffed Apple Pies, French Galettes with seasonal fillings, fluffy Shokupan (traditional Japanese milk bread), and more.
I don’t usually go out of my way to write reviews, but I got several croissants for my family from here, and we all agreed that they were the best croissants we’ve ever had in the U.S. I’ve been trying to find an almond croissant close to the ones I had while I lived in Berlin, and this almond croissant is the closest I’ve ever gotten. Perfect amount of frangipane, no artificial almond flavor, crunchy brown toastiness. The plain croissants were also fantastic. Highly recommend to any croissant lover and I can’t wait to try the other flavors.
Camille T — Google review
Aya Pastry in West Town is a hidden gem for pastry lovers. Their almond croissant is a standout—flaky, buttery, and filled with rich almond paste. On my visit, I also tried the Kouign Amann, which was decadently sweet and caramelized to perfection. I spent about $10 for these two pastries, and they were well worth every penny. Highly recommend stopping by if you're in the area!
Michael R — Google review
This is a cute, floral pastry shop in West Town with good, but pretty expensive pastries, cakes, breads, jams, olive oils, and other items. It is takeout only, with no indoor seating. For cakes, consider ordering online rather than in-store for a wider selection. The pastry in-store selection was a little limited too, with less selections than I expected. I got a slice of Banana Bread and a Peanut Butter Chocolate Croissant. While the banana bread was mediocre— a little dry, not too flavorful or special— the croissant was wonderful and delicious. It was so flaky, mildly sweet, and full of rich flavors. I also bought a pint of sourdough starter from them for $6, and it’s currently still active and thriving. Overall, the prices are a bit expensive though, with pastry items typically around $4-10. — Price (relative to peers): 3.5/5 Food: 4.5/5 Ambience: 4/5 Service: 4.5/5 Overall Value: 4/5

After having lunch at Tempesta, we decided to make a dessert stop here. We ordered a cinnamon roll and Cinnamon Banana Bread, both of which were incredibly delicious. Personally, I found the banana bread to be the standout between the two. The service was excellent, and I'll surely be returning here in the future.
Vincent M — Google review
Extremely well made croissants. Highly recommend stopping by at the bakery! I have how ordered from this place twice and cannot say enough about not only their safety protocol but also their ability to make the best croissants and breads in town! Try to get there early and choose from a variety of baked goods.
Minal V — Google review
Cute Japanese bakery. Schokopans (bread) and Samoa (dessert) are specifically recommended. If you go before 9am on Sunday, they serve from to-go window in the parking lot. Service is a bit slow :/
Alper E — Google review
I got the Everything Spice Epi, Baguette, Miso Sesame Butter, Samoa Cake, and Tart Cherry Galette. Everything was delicious! Samoa Cake and Cherry Galette were super scaled back in sweetness (which I like, not too sweet). The breads were fantastic and the Epi is the perfect takeaway snack.
Yumi T — Google review
Whole sale & retail bakery supplier turned into a neighborhood gourmet bakery and a pastry shop. What a great addition to West Town. Best to show up earlier in the day. I went around 3:00 pm in the afternoon and as you can tell from the pictures everything was pretty much gone. Other than few pastries and cookies with longer shelf life most bread loaves & baguettes 🥖 were sold out. I got few pastries and a savory scallion biscuit which was divine. They have a cake version of the Samoa girl scout cookies, I'm afraid it could get addictive just like the Samoa cookies, can't have just one. Finally, go there to check out the life size Gingerbread house they have made around their entrance which you have to go through to get in the bakery. Totally recommend!!!

Hendrickx Belgian Bread Crafter is a charming bakery in the Gold Coast, offering a delectable array of artisanal breads and pastries crafted with Belgian techniques. The cozy bakeshop, founded by Renaud Hendrickx, presents an exquisite selection of refined pastries, including the Nutcracker cake and over 13 varieties of croissants. In addition to its delightful baked goods, the bakery also serves housemade Belgian chocolates, sandwiches, and a variety of cakes.
We discovered this on our trip to Chicago. We loved the prosciutto breakfast croissant and the mini quiche. We had breakfast there 3 days in a row. Kudos to the gentleman at the register every morning. He was pleasant and informative. I definitely recommend this place!!!
A.L. N — Google review
I found this cute little place and the pastries were absolutely delicious will absolutely be back to try others and some of the breads. But I had the most disappointing iced vanilla latte ever. There was like 80% foam and barely any drink. If I order a latte I want the whole thing to fill the cup not an espresso worth of drinkable beverage. The food will absolutely have me back but I will not be getting coffee next time.
Crev — Google review
Can’t remember the last time I’ve had a croissant this good— perhaps Paris? So flaky and light, like biting into a cloud. The pistachio chocolate flavor has me a bit puzzled— it was beautifully made and well balanced, but did I like it? I’m still not sure. One of those flavors that has you questioning with every bite. That said it truly tastes of pistachios, reminiscent of the filling texture and composition of an excellent almond croissant, but pistachio. The chocolate surprised me a bit as it seemed almost syrupy in texture— not bad, just not what I’m used to in a croissant. (The picture is after I’ve bitten into it so you can see the green of the filling) If this review hasn’t convinced you to give Hendrickx a try, not sure what’s stopping you! You won’t regret it!
M M — Google review
This place is incredible! We have been coming here for years. The best gluten-free bread I’ve ever had and their macaroons are better than some of the finest bakeries in Paris. It is a hole in the wall, but does a study business. True Belgian/French cuisine. Delicious lentil salad, almond croissants. Some of the croissant sell out by 11. But they are authentic and absolutely perfect. Delicious soups as well. Photo of GF almond muffin with a heavenly homemade marzipan bottom. Divine!
Kelly Z — Google review
I just happened to stop by here, and the staff were really friendly. You can tell they’re proud of their bakery! The coffee is really smooth and tastes great. There are about 3–5 tables behind the counter, so no need to worry about finding a seat😉

The nicest staff. Incredible gluten free desserts! I am a coffee snob and this is some of the best coffee I have had in Chicago. Hidden gem!
Benjamin S — Google review
I stumbled across Hendrickx nearly 15 years ago when I moved to Chicago. I have a knack for searching out the best croissants and bagels in any place I go and they delivered. I found myself back in Chicago recently again and could not pass on the opportunity to indulge in some plain and almond croissants and it was instant nostalgia. Same great taste, same wonderful staff, I see word catched on over the years cause there was a line at open, but after that first bite the wait was worth it. The next time I return to Chicago I’ll definitely swing by for another.

You want to try an AUTHENTIC and delicious croissant without having to go to France? You've found the right place. The croissants are absolutely phenomenal. The pastries are also super delicious and every item is fresh the flavors are rich. The service is also phenomenal, the person behind the counter (not sure if he is the owner) but he is so friendly, helpful, always willing to recommend the best food. Highly recommend!

The bakery offers a diverse range of French-Asian-inspired baked goods such as bread, pastries, cakes, desserts, and beverages. Visitors can indulge in authentic French pastries and dishes at Tous Les Jours in Paris. The croissants are particularly noteworthy.
Beautiful and modern and very busy bc the dessert and coffee and bread and drinks are yummy and pretty! Right in the heart of Chinatown on the first level. Artistic and well done desserts and it’s very clean here.
Karina K — Google review
Cakes are very good but too creamy and not much of the cake itself which makes it feel imbalanced when trying to enjoy the creamy part with a bid of the solid cake taste! It can be very crowded so be aware if that. If you are looking for A quiet place to relax the Chinatown branch is definitely not the one you’re looking for 😉
Gh — Google review
Delicious desserts and super fresh! My friend and I tried a little bit of everything: strawberries & cream croissant, apple strudel, rose macaron, chocolate cake, and berry cake. Everything was incredibly fresh and tasted great! The cakes were light, moist, and not overly sweet, which I really appreciated. The rose macaron was a bit sweeter than I prefer. Definitely coming back next time I’m craving something sweet!

Was profiled and talked to like a dog today for asking to use the restroom before I purchased and ate after 1.5 hr of travel. I frequented this place unaware that they were even capable of allowing or condoning such behavior. Since it was early and not bustling the restroom was locked. I was spoken to curtly and waived off with a yea right and go away. When I stated that I place and get large orders there all the time including for gatherings I was further accused of just finding a picture online until I showed them it was my text msg thread. I was followed in a threatening manner by a male employee pictured below who threatened to take my phone after I took pictures to document the incident. From the moment I approached the counter I was told idc buy something or go away idc yea right you bought something youre not a customer and it just got worse with them playing aggressor and victim. Until they saw my picture and msg thread. I feel horrible for supporting and promoting these disgusting people for so long. I come here regularly often a few times a month for large orders for everyone. Sadly will be looking for a new bakery that treats people of all kind better.

We had the blueberry and mango cloud cakes. The mango cake light on flavor but the blueberry cake had just the right amount and was delicious. This location had comfortable seating and was not crowded during our visit.

This place is my absolute go-to for desserts! They serve one of the best tiramisus I’ve ever had — rich, creamy, and perfectly balanced. I’m also a huge fan of their chocolate cream donuts, though they’ve been sold out the last few times I visited (hopefully they restock them more often!). Their milk cream cake is another standout — light, moist, and full of flavor. Whether it’s a casual dessert craving or a special occasion, this spot never disappoints. It’s also become my default choice for birthday cakes for friends — always a hit!

I’ve always came to here for the same bread food has always been good but there’s always this specific male cashier giving me unfriendly, unbothered vibe like you can tell he’s always got an attitude but it’s very sublet. Just want the management team to know to have proper training for customers facing roles like his…

Pan Artesanal Bakery is a must-visit spot in Chicago, offering a wide variety of delicious pastries and sandwiches. The bakery boasts an impressive selection of innovative pastries that are made with love and dedication. The cozy atmosphere and friendly staff add to the overall experience, making it a traditional French/Hispanic bakery worth visiting. While the place tends to get crowded quickly due to its popularity, arriving early is recommended to ensure you can sample their delectable offerings before they run out.
This place is an actual hidden gem and I really don’t want to tell people how good this place is.. but this is one of the best bakeries in Chicago. Great baked goods, sandwiches, definitely try their danishes.

I had a bad experience on my first visit. I arrived around 8:30 a.m. and waited in line for about an hour and 45 minutes, paying for parking since I came from the Lincoln Park area. By the time I got inside, there was no artisanal bread left. I think they should be upfront and let people know up to which number the selection will last, so others can decide whether to stay or leave. Unfortunately, I don’t think I’d come back.
Alexa C — Google review
I came here to get pan de muerto and the line was huge. I was 45 minutes in line. The line was moving super slow for the amount people that were getting served. Prices are a little high and they charge you $1.50 for light ice on a drink. I decided to get an horchata iced latte. The drink tasted like agua de horchata. No coffee what so ever. Big disappointment. They didn't have the pan de muerto I was looking for so I got something else instead. The cinnamon roll was good but pricey. To me, it wasn't worth the wait. $28 It was pricey for 2 20 oz drinks and one cinnamon roll.
Angela — Google review
Disclaimer- they’re only open Sat-Sun and up until they sell out, so the line can be long in the morning. Showing up at 10 seemed to work better, but it might risk reduced selection The pastries themselves are excellent! You can tell they make it all in house, and you can watch them make the tortillas as well. Their stuffed pastries would be my personal go to, mostly cause I don’t appreciate croissants that much
Kenneth H — Google review
I’ve been to Pan Artesanal three times now, and I’ll admit — the bread is really good. But the experience today was just terrible. I waited over two hours in line only to watch everything sell out right before my turn. People were leaving with huge amounts of bread, and the checkout process was painfully slow. It’s frustrating because the product is great, but the way they manage lines and sales is a mess. I really hope they fix this, because right now it’s just not worth the wait.
Eli C — Google review
2 hours in line waiting just for them to sell out and send us home. I wouldn’t recommend this place until they find a better system. They open for 3 hours only Saturday and Sunday and the line is 2 blocks long. People grab multiple boxes so by the time you get to the front after a brutal wait in the cold they are sold out. The bread was good when I had it last year but it’s honestly not worth that kind of experience. Please place a limit on the amount an individual can get or open more often. The bakery has been receiving a lot of well deserved hype for years now. There’s no excuse for this to keep happening it’s losing you loyal customers
Abdallah A — Google review
This bakery is exceptionally good; they offer a wide variety of delicious desserts. The conchas are wonderful, the chilaquiles are fantastic, and the steak sandwich was excellent. All the condiments were perfect, and the tres leches coffee was very good.
Diego C — Google review
I would say it’s not amazing like everyone says it is. It’s good but it’s a one and done for me. I had a quesadilla it was good and ordered a few croissants. The one with the chocolate chip cookie on top well I only ate the cookie on top. And then I had a tiramisu croissant, it was so so. I ate half. Service is mediocre. Glad I was able to try it, but not something I will run back to.

I got there late in the day, around 6pm, but they still had some good options. The chocolate chip cookie was rich and chocolatey and buttery but thankfully not overly sweet. The giant chocolate stud muffin was super sweet, as cupcakes tend to be. It had a rich ganache filling under all of that buttercream. It was cold out of the case and would have been so much better room temperature, but I don't have anywhere near the patience for that - would be ideal if sold that way, but I imagine keeping them cool prolongs shelf life. Service was excellent, as was the ambiance. Both indoor and outdoor seating.

Our wedding cake from Vanille was absolutely beautiful and beyond delicious! We received so many compliments from our guests, and the raspberry layer was definitely a crowd favorite. From start to finish, the team was communicative, extremely kind, and so easy to work with. They brought our vision to life perfectly, and the cake looked just as stunning as it tasted and was also priced extremely fair in the world of wedding vendors. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience and are so grateful to Vanille for being part of our special day. Highly recommend them to any couple looking for a cake that will truly wow your guests!

For me it was basic . Coffee, lemon tart and almond croissant were okay, nothing special. I didn’t feel any coziness inside while sitting. For me personally it was strange for having passcode in restroom for customers. I can understand , it’s not a restroom for public use, but felt odd that I should ask for code . They could add the passcode at the end of receipt, my suggestion. But anyway, it was okay ,nothing more.

Vanile Patisserie is the French craft pastry shop and cafe. Very important - it is not French-like, but a genuine sweet masterpieces prepared by maitre patissier (master pastry chef). I have been their devoted customer for five years and never got disappointed. I cannot boast being an expert who finds "cherry with the notes of oak" taste or who is a true truffle sniffer to distinguish a scent of ohelo'ai berry. However, there is a balance of sweetness and flavor in every product. Visual appeal and taste make id devine. Of course, affording Paris is not easy. But affording this cafe is within a reach to get the feeling.

Chiu Quon Bakery, a no-frills Chinese bakery established in 1986, offers an extensive selection of over 100 handcrafted items daily. Known for its BBQ pork buns, egg custard tarts, and steamed egg yolk buns, the bakery also surprises with a diverse cake selection featuring both familiar American flavors and unique Chinatown-inspired options.
Very clean and well lit bakery - cash only. Egg tarts are good (our favorite bakery is in San Fransisco China town has the best ones) however, they are freshly made. We greatly enjoyed the large bag of fortune cookies - $8! There was a tall table next to the front window, no stools, if you want to have a quick bite before leaving.

Always amazing and consistent quality here. They are cash only but there is an ATM inside. Our favorites are the strawberry sponge cake and the egg tarts. They also have a variety of frozen buns that are really good to steam or even air fry at home.

It smells like bathroom/sewage in there I don’t know why. When you go in the first door your nose gets assaulted. I had to stand a couple minutes in between doors to see if I should eat from a place that has a dirty smell… That said,my curiosity about the xiopao won and so I bought a pack of 6 from the fridge. The dough is a tad stiff but the inside tastes good. The worst part? I’ll show you in photo… never again.

Finally got to check out the famous Chiu Quon Bakery! Since we already had lunch plans, we tried to keep it minimal. This is what we tried: BBQ Pork Bun, Egg Tart, Egg Custard Melon Pan Bun, and Sticky Rice Wrapped in Lotus Leaf. Everything was sooo good. One thing we wanted, but was sold out, is the shu mai! I gotta come back for that cuz that seems to be a hit here. This spot has no seating, but has this standing bar area against the front window, and it was perfect to eat your bakery goods here. The service was quick and efficient, just how I needed it to be.

Alliance Bakery, located in the vibrant Wicker Park neighborhood of Chicago, is a must-visit for those with a sweet tooth. The bakery offers an array of playfully decorated cupcakes, European pastries, and specialty cakes that are sure to catch your eye. As you stroll along Division Street, you'll be drawn in by the artistic display of cakes showcased in the front window. Once inside, you'll be greeted by a colorful assortment of desserts behind glass windows.
I would give 10000 stars for the execution of the cake and the Mona sculpture. Literally the same as the puppet. Incredible craftsmanship!!! The taste: incredible. Moist, soft, good flavor, and the fondant wasn't too crazy on the taste. The cake didn't arrive at Division location for pick up as requested and confirmed during placing the order, BUT the staff was extremely nice and kind about it.
Google A — Google review
DO NOT order a cake from here. My order had a mix up with two different people communicating with me about my cake and giving me two different prices. I paid in full days before my pick up date since I was in the area. I Showed the man at the counter the order number and the price I was given on the email. I took my receipt and was reminded of my pick up date and time. On the day of pick up my brothers picked up the cake but the person helping them said that $400 was left to pay. Mind you I came days before showed the man my order number and the price that was given on the EMAIL and paid in FULL. I told my brothers just leave the cake we aren’t paying $400 more. my brothers ended up paying for the cake since they didn’t want my son to have a grocery store cake for his 1st birthday. Now taste: This was my first time trying the bakery and I was expecting it to be delicious! It was not and my guest also didn’t care for the cake. I ordered fresh strawberries and the cake had a layer of strawberry jam. The cake was overly sweet as well.

We couldn’t have been happier with our wedding cake from Alliance Bakery. Not only was it beautifully executed with flawless design that matched my vision perfectly, but it also tasted absolutely incredible! The entire process was seamless from start to finish, the tasting was great, customer service was friendly, and the delivery was right on time. Alliance Bakery truly delivered both in flavor and presentation. Highly recommend for any couple looking for a cake that’s as stunning as it is delicious! 5 stars all around!

We selected Alliance Bakery for our wedding cake after sampling a few options around Chicago. They did a phenomenal job with the design of our cake - I wanted vintage piping and it was beautiful. The cake itself was delicious, we got two cake flavor/frosting combinations for both the cutting cake and sheet cakes for serving and many of our guests commented on how good it was!

Alliance Bakery is the best! We got our wedding, rehearsal dinner, and bridal shower cakes from them, and we received so many compliments on the taste! They also looked so great. The planning process was smooth as well, and I think their prices were pretty affordable compared to other bakeries in Chicago. We're looking forward to our next occasion to order dessert from them!

This bakery has been here for over 100 years. They are definitely doing something right. Great pastries, cookies and cakes. After 7pm the store is half off. Their cakes are decorated so cute! On the pricey end but worth it. Fresh and tasty. Also the store has a very relaxing let's eat cookies and walk around town vibe.

La Boulangerie & Co Wilson is a cozy French bakery and cafe that offers a variety of delectable treats such as breads, crepes, sandwiches, and pastries. Originally located in Logan Square before relocating to Lakeview due to conflicts with a neighboring coffee shop, the bakery has now returned to its roots in a new spacious location. Visitors praise the beautiful and delicious offerings at this charming establishment.
I recently visited a charming French bakery and was blown away by their avocado toast and egg croissant. The avocado toast was a perfect blend of creamy avocado, a perfectly cooked egg, creating a delightful harmony of flavors. The bread was fresh and toasted to perfection, adding a satisfying crunch. The egg croissant was equally impressive. Flaky and buttery, it was filled with a generous portion of fluffy scrambled eggs, making each bite indulgent yet comforting. The balance of textures and the freshness of the ingredients truly set this bakery apart. If you're looking for a delicious brunch spot, this bakery is a must-visit

Had a latte and a croissant that made me feel like I was in France. The pear & brie sandwich was good but a bit overpriced. Can’t wait to try more french pastries, jams, and other goodies the next time I visit!

This is genuinely one of the best bakeries in Chicago. I'm very picky about my croissants and very rarely get them because it's so hard to find a good one, especially pain au chocolat. Look no further than La Boulangerie — they're so authentic and fresh. The chocolate one specifically is divine. This was the first place I came to after a trip to Paris and felt transported back there by the pastries. Couldn't recommend enough. It's attached to the private French high school, so you'll often see students and teachers come in as well as locals who speak French, and it's so fun to go to a cafe in Chicago and hear people converse with staff in French. It's also a great place to work, catch up with friends and enjoy the outdoor patio when it's warm out.

I’ve been coming here for YEARS. At least once a month, or I’ll order it to go. Each time I get the same thing - the ham and cheese and egg (scrambled) on a croissant. This time, I opted to try something new - a turkey sandwich. I asked the woman at the counter three times, is this sandwich warm, and her response was yes. Upon receiving it, it was in fact a cold sandwich. I brought it to her attention and she said the bun is warmed but that’s it. I then turned to a woman who was also operating the counter and asked if I can replace the sandwich with something else. She huffed and puffed about it and said fine. I asked for my usual, egg, cheese and ham croissant. And, mentioned to scramble the egg or at least break the yolk. She said NO special requests. I said, I get this all the time here. She then got aggressive with me and then stormed off to the manager who was working the cook station. I then spoke with the manager who ALSO said she will not scramble the egg. Note, the place was not busy at all. I received a full refund. Left and immediately called the Logan square location to see if I could get a corporate number to express my concerns. I spoke with the manager and she said that someone will be in touch with me immediately. It’s been three weeks and no one has called me. This is extremely sad because I really love this place. Yet, if this is how they treat customers……especially loyal ones, I’ll take my money elsewhere. The way I was treated was shameful.
Nicholas H — Google review
I was really excited to try this place. I placed a pickup order through door dash and was treated with the worst customer service. I waited for probably 20 minutes for my order to be ready. No one came up to me to ask about my order. I made eye contact a couple of times and was met with the baristas and bakers looking away and disengaged from me. I would see them being friendly to the customers that came in to order, but not me with my pickup order. I probably won't be coming back due to this treatment.

Restaurant
Kasama is a laid-back eatery that offers a mix of French-American pastries and contemporary Filipino cuisine. The restaurant, founded by Chicago chefs Genie Kwon and Tim Flores, features a stylish yet welcoming space with an open kitchen and spacious outdoor patios. The menu boasts flavorful dishes such as house-made Filipino sausage with garlic rice, fried egg, and pickled papaya, as well as creative pastries like ube and huckleberry Basque cake.
so good and 100% worth the wait! we got there at 8:20 or so (we walked there) and there was already a line so i’d recommend not getting there any later. by the time we sat down it was 9:30. i had the meatloaf and my husband had the chicken adobo, both were super flavorful and delicious. we also tried the ube and sesame lattes which were super yummy. the sesame latte was bold, and the ube leaned sweet. we also tried their breakfast sandwiches, one with sausage, egg, and cheese and the other with hashbrowns, egg, and cheese. both were amazing. the egg is thick, cheese is melty, and sausage/hashbrowns were salty and delicious. we of course also grabbed a box of pastries to enjoy later. everyone was kind and overall we had a wonderful experience. we don’t have other filipino spots to compare it to as this was our first time trying it, but we’re big foodies and it hit all the markers for us. we spent ~$150 in total.
Isabel F — Google review
In my opinion Kasama is overrated. There were some good, some ok and some not so great. We order the chicken adobo, filipino breakfast, breakfast sandwich, and 3 drinks with totaled to ~96. The chicken adobo was the crowd pleaser. The chicken was juicy, the coconut crust added some sweetness and was balanced. The filipino breakfast was fine. There wasn’t a WOW factor. The breakfast sandwich was SALTY. I had to pass it off because it was too salty and all the components were too soft. The ube coconut latte was good but i wished there was more ube and coconut flavor. We got there at 9am on a Wednesday and waited 50 mins to be seated. I would say get takeout next time if you want to try. But the price and wait time makes this restaurant overhyped to me.
Bonnie — Google review
Got there at 8 AM on a Wednesday in October and were first in line, a few others started showing up around 8:30-8:45. They let one party in at a time to order and then sit, and we were in a hurry so it was nice being first, seemed like a slow process with parties ordering things one at a time, but necessary for organization. "Oh Hot Yam", "Maiz con Leche", and Coconut Cortadito were all excellent - Ube and coconut flavor are strong in the "Yam", corn strong in the "Maiz", and cortadito is a generally strong coffee drink. Filipino breakfast combo is great, loved the garlic rice and savory and unique longanisa sausage and tocino. Breakfast sandwich lives up to the hype! Super delicious with pillowy egg, soft potato(?) roll, and savory cheese and longanisa! Side hash brown was good as well. And then the pastries! Ube and huckleberry Basque cake is outstanding, particularly love the firm crust contrasting with the softer middle. Best Oatmeal Cream Pie you'll ever have, and Banana Tart was mind-blowing as well! Ube and coconut Ensaymada rocks as well, loved the filling!

One of our favorite breakfast spots in Chicago! Our regular orders are the Filipino breakfast with longanisa and tocino, and the breakfast sandwich with longanisa, egg, and cheese, so flavorful and comforting. The Black Truffle Croissant alone is worth the trip, it truly sets the bar for all pastries. 🤌 The Banana Tart had the perfect texture and sweetness, we even ordered it in large format. Every visit reminds us why Kasama is in a league of its own. 🩵✨🙌

The number one spot for Filipino Cuisine! You need to be there before they open, we got there 10 mins before and there was a small line. They close dinner for reservations only! As a half Filipino, I felt very welcomed. The atmosphere was homey and I recognize all the food options! I had a Calamansi mimosa, as well as the Ube Cappuccino. Both very delicious! I had Chicken adobo, very unique flavoring and the rice was so good! It felt like sushi rice but without the fish flavoring. Had a takeout of a bread with a protein on top, it was so good! My friend had the Filipino breakfast and all aspects of it were delicious! You would never expect this to be a 3 ⭐️ Michelin restaurant, I was pleasantly surprised.

Went for the breakfast sandwich Syd had The Bear and it did not disappoint! The patty was super flavorful and the texture of it with the egg and hash brown was divine! Brought a few bakery items home and we loved them too. Prepare to wait a while in line and the inside decor is quaint. I only took off a star since they gave us the sandwiches wrapped to go as we were seated rather than as a seared dining experience with silverware. Otherwise, would go back but likely order to go.
Sharese K — Google review
Came for for the famous longanisa breakfast sandwich and you know what? It was worth the hype. The texture and sweetness of the longanisa paired beautifully in this with the other ingredients. I’d recommend adding a hash brown to it to finish round off the flavours. We also sampled a black truffle croissant that was PHENOMENAL. HIGHLY recommend this. The ube huckleberry tart was well made but just okay, tasted more of the berry than ube. I mean, it was still really good and I ate the whole thing. Drinks were yummy and not too sweet, we got the iced oh hot yam and iced black sesame lattes. I hate lines and avoid them at all costs. If you’re the same, I’d recommend ordering on the app when they open for takeout. You get to skip the long line outside that’s waiting for dine-in and go to the front right away.

My favorite food & dining experience while in Chicago. Phenomenal cafe in the morning. Took about 40 minutes to get in, but it was well worth the wait. Whoever thought to put peanut butter in jelly in-between two Oatmeal raisin cookies is a genius. It was my favorite item. The pork adobo and garlic rice had my whole table upset they also didn't order one. The maiz con leche was super unique and I could have drank a gallon of that. I want to get back here as soon as possible.

Absolutely AWFUL!!! Me and 2 other nurses who work at the University of Chicago hospital went here after our 12 shift for breakfast. They sell a sandwich for $9.50 but when we went to order the lady told us it’s $15 because they only sell the sandwich with a cookie and coffee. We told her we just wanted the sandwich and it was advertised for $9.50, the owner came around to the front and yelled at us saying the sandwich is $15 whether we wanted the coffee or not. He told us if we didn’t like it to just leave and he started slamming things around. We were shocked to see such rude and aggressive behavior. We just walked out. When I told other people at work about what happened, 2 other coworkers said they had bad experiences too and no longer go there. If you want to be treated horribly and pay an exorbitant amount of money for a sandwich, then go here. Otherwise, avoid this place.

The pain au chocolat was quite puffy and tasted closer to bread than a pastry. The chocolate on the inside had hardened at room temperature, making the interior crunchy (zoom in on the photo). Whole Foods sells a crispier, tastier version for $1.25 each. And for what it's worth, that one is closer to what they sell in Parisian bakeries.

June 3, 2022 I ordered a latte. There was a mixup about the size, but the latte itself tasted great, a traditional espresso drink. Note: they have aligned with the American standard of 12 ounce minimum size for lattes and cappuccinos, and I didn’t see signs of any 8 ounce cups. I also didn’t see a flat white on the menu, which is sometimes a backdoor way of creating an 8 ounce option. They ask had a tasty full of tasty looking baked goods as you would expect of a French themed bakery. And the people behind the counter even speak French-accented English!

Delicious buttery croissants. And coffee is very good too, too bad they don't serve it in regular porcelain cups.

Scafuri Bakery is a historic Italian bakery that has been a staple since 1904. The family-owned establishment offers an impressive array of classic Italian treats, including donuts, pastries, and various bread loaves such as rustic and classic Italian breads, beer bread, and specialty options like fig fennel rosemary walnut bread on weekends. The housemade Cannoli and assorted Italian cookies are highly recommended, along with their extensive pie menu featuring nearly 20 different varieties.
Found this cute bakery while walking around in little Italy neighborhood in Chicago. Went in with a few friends and we all ordered different things and shared them. We all loved everything. The goodies are made to perfection, nothing was overly sweet. The person working offered me a free shot of espresso in my salted Carmel tiramisu iced coffee, which was probably the best flavored coffee I’ve ever had. Everything is so reasonably priced and we felt welcomed. Whenever I go back to Chicago. I will definitely pay a visit to this bakery.

Excellent spot and probably the most affordable bakery like this in Chicago. Id recommend the espresso brownie or a breakfast croissant(ham egg and cheese is great). I’ve had a couple things that I didn’t like as much as those but the selection for the most part is very good. This is an old school spot that’s easily worth checking out! I keep coming back!

Stopped into this little Italian Bakery. Enjoyed lovely breakfast croissants and a blueberry cream croissant. They were light and flaky and filled perfectly. The pesto chicken had great flavor. Ordered a large Americano and a large mocha which were disappointing. They lacked the coffee flavor and the milk was steamed, but not frothed. The shop was a little disorganized

Sfogliatelle and cannoli were a little underwhelming… but worth trying: cucciadati, almond crescent, walnut crescent, pignoli, lemon knot

This Italian bakery is located in Little Italy, Taylor St. right across the Chicago Public Library. We got the Pizza Croissant and Lemon Baby Loaf and it was delicious. They are on the pricey side but you can tell the ingredients are of high quality. The staff were very friendly and accommodating - very positive vibes. The atmosphere and decor is very Italian with photos of the owner and their family.

Been going there for years for their delicious Zucchini bread, but this past Aug during Taylor St fest I actually bought 2 Zucchini breads one for myself and one for my friends as I bragged to them how wonderful it was, but when we had it the next morning something was off, something was missing not sweet at all, had more of a spice taste, texture was off too, my friends agreed that they didn't like it at all either, I told them how sorry I was that it just wasn't the same and told them to throw it away. These loaves were 19.00 each, so I called the following week since they are not open Mon and Tuesday complaining about the Zucchini breads. Said they would let the owner know, no response, a week later I also spoke with a gentleman who understood and said he would pass it along to the baker, still no response, I am totally dissatisfied with them now, all I asked for was a credit for $38.00, 1 month later still nothing, so disappointed with them, guessing I will never be going back, sorry for the bad review.

Cute little Italian bakery that has been around since the early 1900s. We got two lattes and a turkey pesto croissant for $14 - super well priced. Lots of flavor options for lattes!

In addition to their renowned donuts, they also feature a variety of baked goods such as long johns and bismarks.
Friendly, helpful staff, great Paczki! Great to see improvements, as well as traditions being carried onward. I give Lao a lot of credit for picking up the ball and running with it, & very well. He saved this valuable neighborhood asset.

I ordered pineapple upside-down cupcakes/muffins as a birthday surprise for an old friend. The employees were extremely helpful and the online order process was simple. Delivery went without a hitch, and our friend loved the delicious baked goods. He said they closely matched what his mother baked when he was growing up.

This used to be one of my favorite bakeries in Chicago but things definitely have changed. I was planning a dinner for 3 Kings Day with family and was looking to purchase a rosca. I always liked their products and I saw it on their online menu and decided to give it a try. My husband picked it up this morning and upon pickup he told the lady it was a bit on the small side. She totally dismissed him and said no that is a large. I returned from work in the evening and immediately called the bakery. Of course there was no answer. When I opened the box I was beyond disappointed. I have family coming over and I paid $42 for a non edible rosca. I tried cutting it and I thought my knife was going to break. I recieved a call back from the bakery and spoke to a woman. I told her that I was highly dissatisfied with the quality of the rosca and is far from authentic. It also had an off smell to it. She laughed and said she would talk to the baker. I told her she needed to because she is going to lose customers because she already lost me as a customer. She laughed repeated I will talk to the baker. I will never order from here again and neither will friends or family. Poor product and poor customer service. Do not recommend.

Worst worst experience EVER!!! Got there for a noon paczki pickup at 11:18 and waited outside in line until 12:20. I left there at 1:24 empty handed. They gave my order to someone else, and instead of replacing my order and refunding me for the 2 items they didn’t have he just said sorry we can’t replace it. He said he could UPS it to me “tomorrow or something”. Oh yeah, did I mention that I drove in from a different state to get these paczkis? It was utter chaos! They couldn’t find orders, they were giving them away to the wrong people. No system at all. They were just packing orders at 1pm for orders placed days ago. So while it looks like we are in line because this place is the best, we are actually in line because this place is the worst place EVER!

The Paczki mix I picked up today was incredible super fresh tasty and large portions the custard one knocked it out the park.

Sadly, the brick and mortar location is CLOSED. Saw them mentioned in some articles about where to purchase paczki, and got up early before work, hoping to score some bacon buns too. As previous reviews have mentioned, they are now "online orders only". However, the website is not currently accepting orders. (2/9/2024) There was a nice couple in the garage out back, surrounded by commercial baking supplies. Hope they can make a go of it. Once upon a time, my wife was offered some sage advice when she purchased a bakery. "Rolls ain't Diamonds"...

We LOVE this local bakery. The donuts are amazing, with a golden fried outside and super soft inside, almost like a funnel cake flavor. The variety of cookies is fantastic and the ham and cheese buns are delicious! The new owner puts so much care into their work and makes sure to do things exactly like the original owner! AMAZING!

Verzenay Chicago is a charming cafe offering a wide variety of beverages, desserts, and sandwiches. While the turkey and cheese baguette was fresh and generously portioned, some visitors felt it lacked flavor due to the absence of condiments other than hot cholula sauce packets. Despite average service, the warm atmosphere makes it a decent spot for a quick bite and refreshing drink. Visitors highly recommend their holiday afternoon tea, praising each layer of the tray as delicious.
You must try passion fruit ricotta cake! The flavor was so balanced with adequate amount of sweetness and sour fruit. Strawberry cake was also good. Very fresh. I can’t say enough how good their pastries are. Their breads were also impressive. And they offer a very affordable and reasonable for their products.

The food is delicious 😋, especially the chicken salad croissant, the breakfast sandwich on brioche, and the spinach and kale quiche. These are some of the best items on the menu. The matcha is also very good. The waiters and chefs are always smiling, the place is clean, and the atmosphere is relaxing. Although there's usually a long queue on weekends, it's definitely worth the wait.

Possibly the best avocado toast I've ever ever had. Home baked sourdough, radishes, and avo (I also added egg)...chef's kiss! The pastries looked so fresh and delicious! I was told they're baked every morning. The chicken sausage and turkey were halal! What a gem of a place. Definitely recommend.

This was my first time here, this is a very cute cafe in my opinion. Its perfect for a ladies day out and a quick lunch. Their staff is amazing, they were so polite, friendly and helpful in nature. Special shout out to Nicole, she went above and beyond to wrap my to go dessert, as I had an hour drive back home in almost 100 degree weather. I also met Arshiya the owner, very down to earth and friendly person, she took the time to stop and talk to me, even though she was on her way out. I loved everything I tried here. If you're looking for authentic, European style croissants, that taste just like the kind you may have tried on your travels, I highly recommend you try it here. I really miss the ones I tried in Zurich and the croissants here were nearly identical to the ones from Zurich. We tried the chicken salad on a croissant and egg &cheese on a croissant, both were fresh and tasty. Their desserts are to die for, do not miss out, I tried the Royale, Paris brest and the mango cheesecake and all three were amazing. For drinks, I got the Parisian rain and it was very good. I recommend it if you like iced tea with a creamy taste. The only con I have are the hours, I live almost an hour away and would love it if there were evening hours too so I could come after work on a day with my friends 🧡

Love the pastries and coffee here. I had the beautiful pistacho escargot with the sweet glaze on top which was just so beautifully thin and perfectly sweet. I also had the turkey baguette which was simple but so satisfying. I was so awed with the pastries that I took a milk loaf home and cannot stop thinking about this place since. I cannot wait to go back. The main drawback was the amount of seating available. Additionally, the atmosphere was a little more work from home so it did feel a little stiff in there but I would definitely go back.

If I could give 0 stars, I would. I’ve never felt this frustrated before. I understand that mistakes happen in restaurants—I’m in the industry too—but making the same mistake over and over again is just exhausting. I genuinely love your place—both the pastries and desserts are amazing. But I honestly don’t understand why it’s so hard to get my order right. I only ever order two things: a matcha latte and a grilled cheese with brioche. That’s it. But 3 out of the last 5 times I ordered, I got sourdough instead. It’s really frustrating to wait while I’m hungry, only to get something I didn’t even order. This has happened so many times that I stopped ordering from you for three or four months. And today, it happened again. Same mistake. I think I’m done now. This might be the last time I order from you. You honestly make the best grilled cheese I’ve ever had—but it’s fine. I’ll go try to find a new favorite somewhere else.

We had a lovely experience at Verzenay Chicago. We tried the Strawberry Ricotta Cake, the Chocolate Lovers Cake, and a Cappuccino—and everything was excellent. The desserts were fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The Strawberry Ricotta Cake was light and perfectly balanced, while the Chocolate Lovers Cake was rich and indulgent. The cappuccino was smooth and complemented the sweets nicely. Overall, we were very satisfied and will definitely come back!

The savory breakfast croissant is to die for!! Everything we have had here is always top notch. As a local, this is my favorite French bakery in chicago. They even have real flowers on the tables which was such a nice touch. Also, try the Rugelach! A delicious Jewish pastry, incredibly well balanced.

Sugar Moon, a small Logan Square bakery, has quickly gained a loyal following since its launch in 2021. Owner Dina Cimarusti's creations, such as the tahini chocolate chip cookie and pizza focaccia, have become popular favorites. The bakery offers rotating breakfast pastries like an Italian beef roll. While some find the prices steep and the wait considerable, others appreciate the fresh and unique pastries.
WOW! I was skeptical about waiting in line for this place but the regulars in line all said it was WORTH IT & I agree, it’s worth it, especially on a nice cool sunny day like today. There’s also a coffee shop down the block where you can grab a drink while you’re in line. We got there 15 min before opening & got inside 45 minutes later. Everything was excellent & the price was super reasonable for the quality, flavor & ingredients in the baked goods. I got: potato focaccia, chocolate chip tahini cookie (everyone’s fave), rapini brioche w runny egg, bacon brioche w hard boiled egg, spinach scone, & the chai spice roll. My favorite savory item was the bacon brioche & my favorite sweet items were the cookie & the spice roll! Prices ranged from $4-$8. Service was quick & friendly & I would definitely go back & wait in line to get more. One of the best, if not the best bakeries I’ve tried in Chicagoland!

A cute spot with lots of unique options! Fair prices for the area. The bananas foster pastry was SO GOOD, I’ll be back for another or to try something new. They were out of iced coffee when I went and recommended I go down the street to another coffee shop.

This place. Wow. Like a well-oiled pastry machine. I have gone there sporadically over the past couple years but really buckled down and started committing to every Sunday these past few weeks. lol. The variety is just astounding and the quality is second to none. I always have the intention of leaving with 2 or 3 things but so far haven't managed to leave with less than 9 or 10 at each visit. Take my money!!!!!!
Mark G — Google review
The flavor profiles of the pastries were all solid but the textures could use more work. A bit more chew on the brioche and better lamination for the puff pastry would have taken it up a notch.

Oh my goodness! So good! We planned on only getting a couple treats but had to get 5! They’re so delicious. Come early there’s a line

Ordered at 9:20 after arriving at 8:45. Went with the chai spiced cinnamon roll, cloud cookie, and bacon brioche. The cinnamon roll was pretty big and smelled immaculate. There were some hard spots around the edges but the interior was soft. It also had a nice caramelized bottom and the frosting wasn’t overly sweet. Next, the tiramisu cloud cookie which I chose over the lemon one. I didn’t know what to expect but the name makes perfect sense. This was literally the lightest cookie I’ve had. Basically eating tiramisu in cookie form. Finally, while I’m not the biggest bacon fan, I split the brioche and wow. Not much bacon but the bread was so so fluffy and an unexpected hard boiled egg tucked in the hole. I just wish this place was closer cause everything was phenomenal.

I really liked this place. First of all, the staff is calm and friendly despite being very busy. As someone who doesn't like overly sweet pastries, their cookies and cream croissant was quite tasty. I've tried many pastries and have never been disappointed, but my favorite is definitely the banana pudding croissant!! It's amazingg.

Daisies is a stylish restaurant in Logan Square that offers a New American menu with a strong Italian influence. The restaurant is known for its meticulously crafted seasonal pasta and locally sourced vegetables, as well as its creative twists on European techniques and comfort food classics. Despite being pasta-centric, Daisies doesn't fit the traditional Italian restaurant mold, but rather falls into the category of New American cuisine.
I had an amazing dinner at Daisies! Everything—from the food to the service to the ambiance—was spot on. Our server recommended the potted carrots, and the presentation was just as incredible as the flavor. We also tried the French onion dip with caviar and the cavatelli, all of which were outstanding. The staff was extra attentive and everything felt clean and well cared for. Such a great experience—I can’t wait to come back!

I had such a wonderful experience dining here. Every single dish we ordered was absolutely delicious, beautifully presented, and clearly made with care. The service was just as impressive. The staff was attentive, kind, and very knowledgeable about the menu. They consistently made sure our table was tidy, provided fresh silverware and plates for each course, and truly elevated the whole experience. My personal favorite was the Agnolotti pasta. It was unique, flavorful, and unforgettable. From start to finish, this restaurant exceeded my expectations and I can’t wait to come back.
Lucinda K — Google review
Despite their stellar reputation, Daisies absolutely exceeded my expectations! My only disappointment was that we were initially led to the dark and separated back room (which you also pass the bathrooms to get to). We nicely requested a table in the front and a 15 minute additional wait was well worth it. Both the Onion Dip and Fritto Misto were fantastic but a lot of fried food to start our meal, so we ended up ordering the Simple Green Salad to accompany our pastas. The Stracci with lamb is definitely one of the best dishes I’ve had in Chicago! We also ordered the gluten free Pappardelle - perfectly creamy ragu and their GF pasta didn’t taste like a sacrifice at all. The herb soda was an amazing surprise. So delicious! The fun and festive front dining room was accompanied by impeccable service. The 25% service charge was well worth it on a busy Saturday night. I absolutely loved our visit to Daisies and cannot wait to return!

This was our first time here, and we really liked the food! Everything was delicious. Our server, Tye, was very attentive and super sweet; we really appreciated his service. The pasta was amazing, especially the beetroot agnolotti (I might be saying it wrong, but it was so good!). And the French toast was incredible too. We’ll definitely be back!😋
Aidyn S — Google review
Daisies completely exceeded my expectations. The pasta was the star of the night — incredibly fresh, perfectly cooked, and full of vibrant, balanced flavors. You can really tell how much care goes into every detail; it felt elevated yet comforting at the same time. Honestly, this was the best pasta I’ve had in Chicago, hands down. The atmosphere was warm and inviting without being too formal, making it a great spot for both a casual night out and a special occasion. Service was attentive and friendly, adding to the overall experience. If you’re a pasta lover, Daisies is a must-visit — it’s the kind of place that makes you want to come back and try everything on the menu.

Amazing vibe. Staff was friendly and explained the menu to us in depth. Incredible food - especially the roast chicken which took an hour for preparation but totally worth it! Strongly recommend. The desserts were finished in no time - Nothing like it! Crisp on the outside, and we could tell they were just out of the oven. Ravioli and gnocchi were one of the best I've had. A bit pricey but overall, amazing experience. Stronglu recommend.

This place is a cozy spot that puts a fresh spin on seasonal ingredients. The pasta dishes are especially well done, but the whole menu feels creative and thoughtfully prepared. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, and the staff makes the experience even better. It’s a great choice for a relaxed dinner that still feels special.

Nestled in the vibrant Fulton Market district, Good Ambler is a delightful haven that combines the charm of a café, bakery, and chocolatier all in one. Under the talented guidance of executive pastry chef Meg Galus, this spot has quickly become a go-to for those seeking both classic brews and an impressive selection of baked goods. From morning pastries to decadent cakes like the Chocolate Obsession and Golden Salted Caramel, every treat is crafted with care.
I enjoyed my time at Good Ambler. As a coffee connoisseur, I enjoyed both seeing cortado on the menu and the cortado itself. I stumbled upon this place after a workout and it was so wholesome sitting here with beautiful decor and people watching. I enjoyed the communal tables, too. Their pastries looked amazing but I had to disrespectfully restrain myself.

Love this place for a casual hangout or to study! The croissants are some of the best I've had in my life including those in France. My favorites are the chocolates and the ham and cheese. The kougn amann is also AMAZING! MUST TRY! I like their espresso shots as well :) definite must-try in Chicago.

This was a lovely find in Chicago. Their green tea was great and my sister loved her coffee. The staff is super friendly and has great recommendations. The ambiance is perfect and if I lived in the area I’d find it the perfect spot for working remotely. It’s a super cozy space and the friendliness of the baristas reinforce that. Their pastries were also wonderful. I got the ham and cheese croissant and it was perfect.

The chocolate croissant here is to die for!! My main hesitation with chocolate croissants is that you get either a bite full of chocolate or a bite of only bread. However, here it’s like they weave chocolate into their croissant, and I felt like every bite I got a bit of chocolate! The atmosphere is spacious and gorgeous as well!!
Bits B — Google review
A relative newcomer to the Chicago bakery scene Good Ambler makes good use of its expansive Fulton Market footprint with an in-house Bakery and Chocolatier plus lots of comfy seating. A 16 on Center concept, owners of everything from Salt Shed and Beauty Bar to Longman & Eagle, guests arriving during morning hours can expect a brief wait for Quiche, Wraps or Salads or an array of Viennoiserie. Priced akin to other like-concepts, roughly $4-6 per Pastry and Coffee $3.25 up for standard Drip, Good Ambler’s Kouign Amann is sticky with a good exterior crackle yielding buttery layers while the Almond Croissant is soggy and marred by excessive Frangipane. More impressed by the Financier, a moist crumb supporting Cherry Jam, the Ham & Cheese Croissant proved better than its sibling but instead of being over-filled offered the opposite with a good amount of hardened Cheese visibly leaking from the edges.

Very cute cafe/bakery I enjoyed the raspberry white chocolate croissant muffin, the chocolate croissant and my vanilla latte. When I came to check it out around 11am on a Friday it was packed, so finding seating was a bit hard. But otherwise had a pleasant experience dining here! There's also free 90 minute wifi.

My first time here, I loved the decor.. the folks behind the counter were ALL so friendly, the ppl in line were also friendly. It’s hard to be cranky when you know you’re in for some yummy pastries. I bought 4 things and my friends also over indulged. The grapefruit cruffin, the Kougin Amann, the dbl chocolate croissant, the rhubarb and vanilla custard croissant, can’t pick a favorite they were all wonderful. Thank you, keep up the excellent work!

Baristas were very friendly and nice, coffee was good, quiche was good (kinda small). Why the low rating? I came here at just past 12 pm, there was a long line right where I entered, I lined up naturally. Some woman and her coworker cut right in front of me, she told me I can go line up at the cafe directly. I was confused, asked her what is this long line for, she said “are you blablabla employee?” I said no, she was like then this is not your line or something, with a very rude face. I’m not from the area, just want to find a cafe to have breakfast and work a little bit. And this is the first thing I encounter coming to this cafe. Later I sat down, ordered some food. Then a server came to me, nicely but let me know the area is reserved and I can’t sit that area. I was confused by that sign where it was signifying. Apparently more than half of the cafe was reserved during lunch time I guess. I moved my stuff to another area trying to eat my lunch and enjoy my coffee, too bad the table was too low and not for eating. So I just left, went back to my hotel and ate at the hotel cafe. I wish I can like Good Ambler more, staff were nice, but this experience was really terrible and not friendly for people who are not from the area, or your building. I held my urge to confront that mean woman (customer) so it doesn’t ruin my day. If she ever reads this, you’re really not a nice person :)

Loba Pastry + Coffee is a trendy coffee shop in Lake View that offers a minimalist interior and a selection of specialty java drinks and housemade pastries. The shop is known for its inventive pastries that rotate daily, such as red mole croissants, lavender space pies, and pimento cheese biscuits. They also offer a curated collection of coffee drinks including Kyoto cold brew, cappuccino, and espresso.
Loba Pastry + Coffee is my favorite coffee shop in Ravenswood. Lilia is the most polite and dearest lady I’ve ever been helped by at a cafe. She alone made my visit worth it. Aside from the unique flavored pastries to their special names, I really like that Loba doesn’t shy away from exploring outside of the classic selection of croissants and pastries. I am always on my toes when I walk into Loba. You never know what new creations are up the baker’s sleeve. The Scandinavian space is absolutely a showstopper. I absolutely love every small detail put into the lighting, the books and even the wavy wooden window book shelf. The only downside is the main setting is reserved for dining only, which is understandable given the high foot traffic and smaller space. In response to a harsh review, personally I think all can be more understanding, visit businesses with the right mindset for the right occasion. Laptop use is limited to the bars. No WiFi and no power outlets. Enjoy!

I kick myself everyday for not renting right across from Loba. This is my favorite coffee shop / bakery in chicago. You can taste the high quality ingredients in every single bite. I also love how friendly the staff is!

Delicious pastry shop! I came on a holiday around 11:30 and waited about 30 min in line. The pastries were delicious - we had the curry scone and peach danish. The scone was really unique and the danish was really fresh and had nice cream on top that wasn’t too sweet. The drinks were nothing special, and they’re the only reason this doesn’t get a full 5 stars for food.
Caroline M — Google review
Great service as I asked about the different pastries since it was my first visit. The mole chocolate croissant has an incredible flavor profile and wasn't too sweet. No wait on a Monday and pastries still warm! Card only. I will definitely be back to try more.

I went to Loba at 10am on Halloween (Friday). I was surprised that there was a line of about 15-20 people inside! The line did move efficiently, and they had a stainless steel refillable water station for the fold waiting in line. I love the dust ability aspect of the coffee shop- reuse able stainless steel cups for water, perfectly steamed milk temp so no additional sleeve needed. It’s a very small and cute coffee shop. The tables were all being used- some for eating and chatting, others drinking lattes and reading books. I also love how the pastries are being brought out as they are ready. They must’ve changed to 3-4x different kinds of pastries as I was waiting in line. I ended up getting an array of pastries to share with my family. I purchased sourdough pumpkin strusel muffin, sourdough pineapple muffin, sourdough banana chocolate chip muffin (best muffin!). I also bought a honey crisp apple pastry, peaches and cream pineapple grout cherry danish, Cajun cheddar biscuit, and Emmie cake which is like a crispy spiced cake with seasame seeds on top. For coffee I tried the seasonal wolf spice latte and it was really good. Would totally go back. Support this sustainable, small, small business!

Valeria and her team offer Chicago an experience of soulfulness and intention. The space is earnestly handcrafted. The pastries and breads are pushing for the same attention to detail and quality, while doing it their own way. I’ve been visiting Loba for years and I can’t imagine a Chicago culinary landscape without them. If you understand their intention, you won’t be pushing back on why they don’t want laptops in the café. It’s actually driven from a place of warmth and hospitality. Val wants people talking to another, experiencing richness of the space the pastry and one another.

This charming neighborhood bakery caught my eye because it's doing some interesting things with ingredients not typically found in baked goods. I was especially excited to try the mole croissant. We went on a Sunday around 9:30 a.m. and only had to wait about 10 minutes in line. We tried the yellow mole croissant, which was excellent and probably the most unique croissant I’ve ever had. It was perfectly flaky, with a bold amount of spice that almost became too intense, but the sweetness helped mellow it out just in time. We also tried the semolina cherry cake with fresh cream. It was very small and lacked complexity, making it fairly average overall. The portions were small considering the high prices. I would definitely go back to try the black mole croissant, but I would most likely skip the other items.

This place is perfectly simple, knows what it's doing and they're doing it well. The seasonal marigold latte was slightly floral tasting while not feeling too heavy with syrup or like the drink was trying to hide the flavor of the espresso at the foundation. The peach & cardamon Kouign pastry was beautiful looking and even better tasting. Crunchy on the exterior, gooey/fruity/flavorful on the inside and a rich buttery flavor behind every bite will have me coming back. The atmosphere is minimalist but very finely done with clear thought behind things. I expect to be returning on this trip and my future trips to Chicago.

La Pâtisserie P is a charming bakery offering a delightful array of European and Asian pastries, breads, and desserts, including custom cakes. The cozy corner spot has garnered praise for its flavorful offerings such as the BBQ pork bun, ube bread, and almond croissant. Customers particularly enjoy the airy and chewy texture of the bread along with generous fillings in items like the BBQ pork bun. The ube bread has been described as life-changing and addictive when paired with coffee.
Really great selection of pastries that all tasted amazing. The triple chocolate chunk cookie was a standout - warm, soft but not falling apart, and full of chocolate. The cheesy garlic bread was ridiculously tasty, and the coconut roll was unique and flavorful. Nothing was too sweet and I’ll be back soon to try the croissants!

As a big fan of both classic viennoiserie and Asian flavors, I wanted to love this place but unfortunately struggled to do so. The items are a bit inconsistent - the ube pastel de nata had great flavor, but you couldn’t taste the pandan in the pandan version. The textures were a bit off as well - the lamination in the croissant and pasteis de nata was oddly brittle (may just not have traveled well) and the hopia was a bit dry. The ube bun would have been great, but we found a hair baked into it after our first bite and weren’t willing to keep eating (see last photo) The one item that was excellent was the steamed rice cake variety pack - no notes, would get it again. Overall I think there’s potential here, but the execution still leaves something to be desired

My wife got the ube bread and I got the spicy bbq pork bun. The pork bun was pretty good, but it didn’t have as much filling as I expected for the price. The ube bread though was delicious. Soft and perfect flavoring.

This is my favorite local bakery! They have such a large selection of pastries and drinks so I try something new every visit. But I do have my staple order- A triple chocolate chip cookie and shredded pork bun! The cookie had the perfect ratio of chocolate-to-cookie :) Highly recommend visiting La Patisserie

Where do I start? The café is adorable. The pastries are incredible. The cappuccinos are true Italian Roma cappuccinos.but, the Crew is beyond freindly always smiling they’re truly passionate about their jobs..This is a must if you live or visiting Chicago. The windmill cookies are light crispy, and pure delicious ecstasy.

La Patisserie P consistently delivers exceptional quality and authenticity. The pastries are fresh, well-crafted, and balanced in both flavor and texture, reflecting a high level of skill and attention to detail. The selection is diverse and thoughtfully curated, offering both classic favorites and unique specialty items. Service is efficient and courteous, and the establishment maintains a clean, inviting environment. This bakery is a standout destination on Argyle Street and an excellent choice for anyone seeking refined, high-quality pastries and baked goods. Highly recommended.

The bakery is quite small, but the air smells savory and full of delight. The staff are also very nice, and the pastries are fresh and looks good too.

This place is a gem in the neighborhood. It’s super personable and the owner has even recognized us and always welcomes us back when we come in. Their buns are great and highly recommended, but they have some incredible and delicious pastries. You can never go wrong with the chocolate croissant—it’s so flaky and buttery. We asked the owner what pastry he was most proud of and he pointed us to the almond croissant, and it’s easy to see why he is so proud of it. It’s delicious! They have a great selection and it’s a perfect spot for a sweet treat.

The bakery offers a variety of delicious breakfast sandwiches served on English muffins or croissants. Owner Sarah Mispagel, known for her work as a pastry consultant on FX hit The Bear, features her famous chocolate cake on the menu. Visitors praise the friendly staff and quick service, making it an ideal spot for a quick breakfast or lunch.
High quality baked goods, sandwiches, and solid coffee. With a full kitchen and bakery everything you're getting was made fresh & in house. Especially loved the breakfast sandwiches, cooked to order with a runny yolk. Coffee was solid and there were a nice variety of pastries on offer. Very much worth going out of your way for this one!

Wow the sausage egg and cheese English muffin is amazing: homemade sausage and the Platonic ideal of an English muffin. Just make sure to save room for the hazelnut plum croissant - it’s like a PB&J made by God himself.

WE LOVE LOAF LOUNGE! We have been visiting the loaf lounge for a few years as our neighborhood spot for breakfast, lunch, and desserts and often bring out of town guests here too! So when we were getting married, we knew we wanted them to be a part of our special day! We are grateful to Loaf Lounge for doing our wedding cake “The Bear” cake specifically and we did a Pittsburgh cookie table that was a hit at the wedding as Loaf Lounge has the best cookies! Thank you to Sarah and Cristina for working on this special order for us, cheers to more loaf lounge for our future special occasions! Photos by: Anna Jung-Hwa Photography

Sausage egg and cheese, with the hash brown and hot sauce, gas. 9/10, I’d rank it just below Allez as my fav Chicago b sammy. On its own very good but not my fav, definitely needed the extras. I wish I had some jam for it that really would have added some extra flair but overall I’d return. Also had a pastry, the plum jam morning bun, it was good but it was just ok nothing to rave about. Matcha was good but could’ve been whisked a bit longer as it was still a little grainy.
Victoria L — Google review
The sausage, egg, and cheese was delicious. What made the sandwich stood out was the homemade English muffin and garlic maple sausage, both with incredible textures and flavors. The runny egg was an unexpected tasty bonus. It could've been perfect with a touch more herby mayo and a little less grease in the toasted muffins.

I have eaten here on two occasions when coming home to Chicago, once inside and once outside. Both experiences were great. Connor, the sous chef, made suggestions for vegetarian options and to modify dishes for my tastes. The menu has many interesting and flavorful taste combinations. There are amazing bakery options including rotating loaves of bread. Currently there is a vegan blueberry scone on the menu. The beverage offerings include extensive coffee and tea options, cocktails, beer, wine, soda and kombucha. The staff is friendly and accommodating. I highly recommend Loaf Lounge for a great food and beverage experience in a casual setting. I can’t wait to go back the next time I am in town.

Our local go-to spot for breakfast. Seriously delicious every time ! Spicy cap on croissant , sausage egg and cheese, wraps , hashbrowns , pastries always 10/10.
Erin W — Google review
Went here with some friends. It’s smaller, first come first serve seating so don’t show up with a group after about 9:30 and expect to find a table. The sandwich was good, the hash brown party was ok. The hash brown is the same type as McDonald’s, maybe a little better. The thing that grinds my gears is they charge a 4% fee to “support a higher hourly wage”. Come on, be honest and just raise your prices by 4% instead of lying to your customers about the price. I whole heartedly support paying people a living wage, but lack of transparency in menu pricing is a dishonest practice that has become a scourge throughout Chicago.

Corner Bakery is a casual cafe chain that offers a variety of sandwiches, pasta dishes, and pastries. Customers have praised the amazing food and exceptional staff at this location. The online ordering process is smooth and pickup is timely. The service has been described as impressive, with friendly and attentive staff who go above and beyond to make customers feel welcome. Despite some instances of longer wait times due to short staffing, the overall experience has been excellent.
This was my first time at Corner Bakery, and it definitely won’t be my last. I stopped in on a hectic day in downtown Chicago, the streets were buzzing, and so was this spot. The place was packed, which is usually a good sign, and I decided to go with my gut and order the Carved Ham & Swiss sandwich along with an Arnold Palmer to drink. Let me just say: what a sandwich. From the first bite, I could tell there was thought behind the ingredients. The pecan wood smoked ham had this deep, subtly sweet flavor with just a hint of smokiness that made it feel hearty and comforting. The Swiss cheese was creamy and mellow, balancing the boldness of the ham without overpowering it. What really stood out to me were the layers of tomato and red onion, the tomato brought a fresh juiciness, while the red onion added just enough bite to wake up your taste buds. And then there’s the stoneground mustard, It had a bold, tangy character with a little grainy texture that gave the sandwich a rustic, gourmet feel. All of this was wrapped in a crispy-on-the-outside, soft-on-the-inside baguette, which held everything together beautifully and added that satisfying crunch with each bite. Paired with a refreshing Arnold Palmer, it made for a quick but incredibly enjoyable meal in the middle of a bustling city day. Highly recommend it if you're in the area and need something fast, filling, and full of flavor.

Food is really good. .. the overnight oatmeal really sets me up with energy to volunteer at the run or for an all day blue-collar shift. Service suffers a bit due to the whole delivery app / on-line thing... I get it but regular blue collar workers and hungry tourists need to feel welcome and appreciated just like all 20-something technoGeeks 💁🏽‍♂️. Do Gen Zedders even still eat oatmeal?

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I absolutely loved Corner Bakery Cafe! It already feels like it’s going to be my new best friend in Chicago. I tried the apple pancake, and it was amazing — warm, fluffy, and full of flavor. I’m definitely coming back to have it again (and to explore more of their menu). Such a cozy spot with friendly vibes — perfect for a sweet breakfast or a coffee break.

Breakfast power bowl was gross. They don’t have shell eggs, only from a box (I asked for eggs over medium and they “only do scrambled eggs”. Order we had to reorder other items because what we originally ordered was just bad. Marginal service at best. Poorest choice since we’ve been here this weekend.

I've been going to Corner Bakery for breakfast when I'm in Chicago for over 20 years. As usual, I was not disappointed. The food was delicious and filling. There were a bunch of options, and the food came pretty quickly. There were a couple of minor issues with the service, which is why I only gave it four stars. The tables weren't cleaned quickly, so I had to look around for a while to find a clean spot to sit. They didn't have the tea flavor I wanted. I didn't realize the croissant and brownie I ordered were both cold until I was ready to eat them. The server didn't ask if I wanted them warmed. They were quick to refill the jam basket after I pointed it out, though, so that was nice.

Everything we have ordered here has tasted really good. Our first visit there was a lady in the sitting area who started blocking off an entire section of the seats all because one of us was wearing a mask. Our second visit despite not being busy (there were at least 4 workers I could see and a total of 3 people in the sitting area, 2 of which already had food and drinks), we had to use the kiosk because no one wanted to take our order. The first time the young man who took our order and delivered it to us was awesome, I unfortunately didn't get his name. I would still probably come back because of the food but the atmosphere and service are extremely mixed. My favorite drink is the dragonfruit lemonade. And my favorite food item is the Greek Yogurt Parfait and mixed berries. For 2 people it was $23 for the lemonade, black coffee, a spinach avocado wrap, and the parfait. So fairly affordable.

Completely unacceptable service. Put in an order at 9:25am. At 10:32am we are still waiting. No one at the front to even try and cancel. We use to love coming to corner bakery. This is the last time. Complete cluster here. I will give props to the one young woman who is smiling and trying to help everyone. Dirty dishes on tables. Apparently only one cook. Customers need to know this on the front end. We left at 10:42am. Got a refund.

Chronically understaffed and slow. Came here today for a quick breakfast and after waiting an hour we still didn’t get our food. We had to head to the airport so just walked out. Crazy thing is they were STILL taking orders when we left. The owner needs to help their staff out here.

Mindy's Bakery is a popular family-friendly American eatery that offers seasonal dishes and delectable desserts, including rich cakes and pastries. The bakery is the brainchild of acclaimed pastry chef Mindy Segal, who recently won an award from the James Beard Foundation for Outstanding Pastry Chef. Following the closure of her previous restaurant, HotChocolate, Mindy focused on her passion for baking by opening this Bucktown bakery.
Let's just start by saying I'm so thankful to have had the chance to try Mindy's!! There was so much chatter and usually they don't meet the expectations, but Mindy's?! Nothing you could say would prepare you for the experience. Everything here was delicious, and the service is phenomenal. I felt welcomed and helped along the way. I didn't feel like a burden or inconvenience to the business. It's like the appreciated my business. The treats!!! When you walk in it's a beautiful space. Little ledge by the front window to stand at but mostly just a beautiful display and the line. The cookie was chewy and perfectly flavored. I actually went 3 times to get more cookies. The almond croissant was generously filled while not being overly baked. Nice chewy inside and flaky outside. The morning bun and "cheddar bomb" were both perfectly executed and worth a try. But the real show stopper ( while all dreamy) was the banana bread. OMG!!! It's moist, it's sturdy, it's banana-y, it's velvety, it has banana chunks and like a cheese cake cream, it's literally probably the best pastry I've ever had. Top 3 for sure. Everything about it was perfect then some. This is a bakery I would catch a flight from Atlanta to visit and fly back home. I would literally take a day trip just to go eat all their pastries and come back home. The love, the passion, and the dedication to the product that they put out is obvious. Mindy and her team do impeccable work! The only feedback that I can give is that they open a location closer to me, or offer shipping! With all the highly rated Michelin star raved about businesses in Chicago Mindy is definitely a stand out Bakery and absolutely worth the hype, the line you waited, and everything that comes along with it. Absolutely memorable experience.

Most of the time, there's going to be a line out the door here but don't be intimidated. It moves pretty fast! Banana bread latte with the breakfast sandwich was a great start to my day. The runny egg yolk in the middle of the bun was, albeit quite messy, a pleasant surprise. Pastries were pretty decent with good textures though some items were too sweet. From everything that I got, the standout was poached blueberry + lemon cheesecake danish. The low was definitely the dry and forgettable peanut butter cookie.

Definitely will visit again! It was a quick in and out once you knew what you wanted, the staff are just so sweet and patient. I went for the AM course and I just love everything I took! Berry cheesecake muffin (10/10) Cinnamon donut (10/10) Peach danish (9/10) Raspberry crème brûlée bun (10/10)

I drove from Dayton to Chicago to visit family. I learned that Mindys was within long walking distance from their apartment. It was definitely worth the trek. There was a good gluten free selection for my aunt. She eat the chocolate muffin and couldn't tell it was gluten free. Same for the strawberry danish and gf bagel . My wife likes croissants. She was amazed how beautiful her croissant was. The taste was also great buttery flavor. I rounded out with 2 bialy. A good onion smell and a great taste. 5 of us shared a great breakfast this morning. C.M. recommended this place for me.

always busy but usually worth it. unfortunately their uber-popular breakfast sandwich is definitely worth the easy rise to get it. it was wonderful. they have some interesting pastries - I really liked their s’mores cake (super moist and the marshmallow was unique). their bolognese flaky pastry was good too, but just a little too sweet for me. we also had the little hot fudge scone thing? it had a really fun breakable texture. however, i got the raspberry one a few weeks later, and it was wayyy too sweet. their cold brew was super unique though! no expresso, but the cold brew came with a foam on top that gave the drink overall the perfect amount of acidity
Leah T — Google review
There’s lots of options to choose from (more on the sweeter side). Heads up, this is a grab and go bakery, therefore, there is no indoor seating (only a bar to stand at outside). They will also not heat up the pastries :/ The hot fudge babka $6⭐️4/5 It did not really taste like it had chocolate… it was still delicious, but it tasted more like an apples strudel and banana bread mix—yummy but not chocolate babka lol The smoked ham brown grainy mustard + Gruyère croissant ($7.50) ⭐️2/5 This didn’t hit it for me :/ If you know you love gruyère cheese, then I say give it a go, if you’re unsure, probably try something else? Update: Hot fudge croissant ⭐️3.5/5 A bit on the drier side and I felt that they skimped on the chocolate a bit. But it was a delicious pastry Blackberry cheesecake danish ⭐️3/5 This was yummy and an easy to-go eat. I wish there was a bit more cheese tho Banana bread cold brew ⭐️4/5 Idk how they do it, but this legit tastes like banana bread in a drink. Perfect for the fall season.

I got a hot fudge croissant, a baklava croissant, and a vodka pesto sauce bialy. Pastries were full of flavor! Really enjoyed the bialy. Looking forward to returning and trying their bagels.

So much hype for a solid bakery. Line is 20 min long even 10 minutes before the place opens on the weekend. Get there early. Great selection can’t go wrong. Personally preferred the ham mustard and salami breakfast pastries over the Mindy’s breakfast sandwich. Decadent way to treat yourself for breakfast once in a while

Had an absolutely fantastic breakfast here! The quiche was light and fluffy, with a perfectly buttery crust. It came with a fresh side salad that balanced the richness of the quiche beautifully. The orange juice was fresh-squeezed and full of flavor. To top it off, I indulged in an amarena cherry mousse cake that was delicate and flavorful, paired with a lavender cappuccino. Highly recommend!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5/5 Pierrot Gourmet is a charming gem with a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The green-themed décor is elegant and fresh, and the space is impeccably clean. We ordered the pastry basket, and every single item was absolutely delicious—flaky, flavorful, and clearly made with care. The cappuccino was smooth and perfectly crafted. Highly recommend for anyone looking to enjoy a relaxing and high-quality coffee and pastry experience.

The desserts here are absolutely delightful! 😍 My biggest fear with mousse cakes is that they might be overly sweet, but to my surprise I could really taste the refreshing raspberry tartness. I was amazed — these desserts are not only delicious but also true works of art. The macaron was also fantastic: not the dry cookie you often find, but soft, delicate, and full of flavor. I highly recommend this place if you appreciate desserts that are not cloyingly sweet. Another detail that impressed me was the lovely children’s booklet they provide — it truly keeps kids engaged so parents can enjoy the experience. The atmosphere is cozy, stylish, and beautifully thought-out down to the smallest detail. The staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming. I loved everything about this place. We had a birthday event at this place! I love the atmosphere, decoration, and vibe! The food was tasty, good quality, and presentation! I really like the crispy Bronzino! The steak was also tender and good. The burger was properly cooked and well seasoned. However, the service was not optimal. The servers were nice, however, it took a long time to get our order and to get their attention for follow-up orders. Drinks also took a long time to be brought to the table. It’s a nice place for birthdays and events. I would come back, but I will stress on the service and attention level.

We went here for brunch to celebrate birthdays! The host was so sweet and went above beyond for our group. He took so many photos for us lol I wasnt to impressed with the menu, it's pretty basic. However the calamari was really good and the chicken&waffles was 10/10. They brought us a slice of cake of our birthdays, which was really sweet. But I do not think I would be excited to return. The restaurant isn't memorable to me for Chicago.

Such a cute place to eat! I love the setting. You have indoor, outdoor and indooroutdoor options for seating and the bar area is really nice. I sat outside and enjoyed myself. It's right off the street, so it's not quiet but it didn't bother me much. The food was ok. French toast (I deconstructed mine) moist and the breakfast potatoes were cooked well. I added onions and bell peppers to mine. The syrup had an odd flavor that I couldn't quite put my finger on. I ordered a white mocha and the server brought me a regular mocha. Only after I asked of it was what I ordered did he say that don't have white mocha. Wish he would've said that from jump.

Upscale bar and restaurant vibes. I did not eat, but my friend did and stated that the food was really good. She had chicken and waffles. I had the signature somerset mimosa. It was yummy. 😋 The bartender was courteous to check in occasionally at just the right moments, which were appreciated.

I had such a wonderful experience at Somerset. Our server was absolutely amazing friendly, attentive, and just has this calm, welcoming energy that makes you feel completely at ease. He’s truly one of a kind and made the whole evening that much better. The food was outstanding. Their seasonal rotating menu is always so creative; you can really tell they put thought into every dish. I love how they incorporate different flavors from national cuisines while still keeping everything fresh and approachable. The whole staff was warm and professional, and the atmosphere felt upscale without being pretentious. From start to finish, it just felt like being taken care of by people who genuinely love what they do. Definitely recommend asking for Jose when you go, he’ll make your night!

Okay, I found this restaurant accidentally, but boy, was I in for a surprise. Chicago never seems to disappoint me when I'm desiring delicious food. We walked into a very elegant atmosphere. The tables were dimly lit with gold candles and beautiful chandeliers, which set the tone for our evening. The waiter was very knowledgeable and professional. He executed his job beautifully. I thought I had the best calamari prior to this, but NOTHING, I mean nothing I tasted compared to theirs. Crispy, flavorful, they just melted in my mouth, and that white sauce complimented the calamari so beautifully. DO NOT leave before trying the branzino, which is a white fish! The sauce that it was paired with made my taste buds sing. And the desserts were also superb.👌🏾 If you desire good food and excellent service, try Somerset!!

I selected this restaurant for brunch with a group of friends. The interior was breathtaking, but since it was a beautiful day, we opted to enjoy our meal on the patio. The drinks from their specials menu perfectly complemented the stunning weather. Each of our entrees was delicious and well-portioned. However, considering the restaurant wasn’t very crowded, the service seemed a bit slow. The biggest disappointment was that we were seated right next to a swarm of bees. So, our meal was a mix of dodging and weaving to avoid the bees. Despite this minor inconvenience, I highly recommend the food. Just be sure to stay off the patio.

So happy we went out of our way to stop here! Everything we had was delicious! The pie dough was perfectly baked, flaky and flavorful. Highly recommend jam & cream on a biscuit - it was warm and light and delectable. This was our first stop in Chicago, driving from Detroit and reminded me of our own local pie shop, Sister Pie, but BangBang Pie & Biscuits had menu items for breakfast, lunch and dinner - plus a pie garden. Such a cute and unique place, I hope to come visit again the next time I’m in the city.

I've been coming to Bang Bang Pies for about 12 years! It's one of my favorite places to talk about and visit when I come through Chicago. It has evolved over time, but thankfully has maintained its delicious staples: homemade biscuits, butter, jam, and cheese grits. It’s a great stop, especially for bringing out-of-town visitors. The menu is simple, the prices are reasonable, and there's always friendly service. There’s seating inside and a nice courtyard with seating outside. And their pies are the best I've had in the city. Order early for those!

Fun cozy spot with some tasty bites! The sausage biscuit was amazing, the biscuit really stole the show though. The cup of grits came as a bowl of grits and were alright. The key lime pie was perfect - not too sweet, not too tart. The service was so kind and inviting. The inside seating section is decent but they also have a great big outdoor section with picnic tables and a fence to make it feel more secluded. Love this spot!

Absolutely hands down best pie I’ve ever had. We ordered a very specific pie that is only in season once a year for a few weeks and Shannon and her whole team went out of their way to get this pie done for me. It had a very sentimental meaning to it and the team really went so far above and beyond to make sure they were able to get this pie done. I will forever be coming back to get any future pie with them. It was absolutely delicious beyond expectations.

Unassuming great spot for breakfast. There is a great patio out back and a quick counter order format. The biscuits are great with the jam or as a sandwich. The BLT and chicken sausage biscuit where huge hits. I highly recommend this spot to grab a quick breakfast for

Amazing homemade pies. Flavors change often. Key Lime was so tart and delicious. The Honey pie was sweet and fresh fruit on top while the S’Mores pie was chocolate heaven.

This place is a gem. We really enjoyed our Baklava Cheesecake pie and savory pickled beet arugula salad on this frigid morning. The staff was super friendly, and overall, a lovely vibe. The inside is quite small so I’m excited to come back when it is warm outside to take advantage of their patio. I was appreciative of the changing table in the bathroom as well.

You need to go out of your way to come here! I had an amazing savory biscuit with scrambled eggs. The biscuit was thick, buttery, and flaky. The key lime pie was great, but not perfect. I will be back when it’s warmer to try other pie flavors and enjoy their back patio.

Sweet Mandy B's Bakery is a charming bakeshop that opened its doors in 2002, offering a delightful array of old-fashioned treats. The bakery exudes nostalgia with its pastel colors and old-school decor, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. From cupcakes and pies to cookies and breakfast bites, there's something for everyone to enjoy. Customers rave about the delectable icing and the wide selection of cakes, including special occasion cakes like wedding cakes.
We are SO happy we had Sweet Many B's make our wedding cake. The tasting cupcakes make it easy for us to chose which flavors we wanted, and the team was so helpful in getting our order confirmed and set up. They absolutely surpassed the inspo pictures I shared, and the cake was perfect!!! We also had a sheet cake with the snickerdoodle cake with vanilla frosting, and our cutting cake was the chocolate cake with vanilla frosting. 10000% recommend going with Sweet Mandy B's!!! All of our guests loved and raved how good the cake was!

Great desserts! I was in the area so I came here but I will go to the streeterville location going forward since it’s closer to me. The CINNAMON ROLL was amazing. Going on my list of best ones in Chicago! Soo so good. The sugar cookie also great! Just exactly what I look for when I have a sugar cookie with icing. The strawberry cupcake with vanilla icing was amazing too!! I want to come back and try more flavors 😊 but tough since it’s summer and I want to stay bikini ready 😭 I also love the playlist they had going! When I left, an employee made sure to thank me for coming and to have a good day—I appreciated it. The world is crazy and very small gestures help make it easier to keep going. Only feedback I have would be to give the bathroom a little more love. 💕

Wonderful quality at a great price! We ordered a 9" round for our wedding (just to cut and have the first bite together as our venue provided other desserts to the rest of the guests). The team at Sweet Mandy B's was great to work with and matched our wedding crest/design to perfection! Tasted great and was overall a smooth, pleasant process. I would recommend them to anyone else looking for a custom design on a tasty cake. :)

I ordered my 30th birthday cake from Sweet Mandy’s and it was exactly what I wanted! It was perfect in every way and tasted amazing! All of my guests were so impressed, as was I. The ordering process was smooth and easy and the cake was ready for pickup on time. Thank you so much for a great cake, great experience, and for making my birthday even more special with this cake.

Sweet Mandy B’s is the BEST bakery of all time; you cannot change my mind. Super premium, high-quality, real butter and sugar, “homemade” desserts! I have NEVER been disappointed with anything I have purchased there. Seeing as they are the BEST and my ALL-TIME-FAVORITE, I decided we would use them for our wedding desserts because I wanted to share their goodness with our friends and family. Boy did they come through! Everyone LOVED the frosted cookies, the chocolate chip cookies, the mini cupcakes, and especially the frosted rice krispie treats (which confused them at first but everyone ended up loving the most). We also purchased a small wedding cake from them and of course, it was perfect. Bailey, event organizer for the bakery, listened to our picture for how we wanted the cake to look, accommodate our other dessert needs, and exceeded our expectations overall. The cake tasting process was fun too because they give you 6 of their giant and delicious cupcakes, all different flavors and frostings and allow you to test them before you make a choice; free of charge of course. I could not be HAPPIER with the customer service and more importantly the overall quality and taste of our wedding desserts and cake. I would utilize them 1000% more, if I still lived in IL - we had to drive all the way to Chicago on the day of our wedding rehearsal to pick up our desserts for our WI wedding and I have NO REGRETS!! I wanted Sweet Mandy B’s and I got it!! Any time I am in Chicago, I make sure to visit the Lincoln Park location, my personal favorite.

Guys. I love this place. The desserts are unmatched. HOWEVER. I recently got a birthday cake in which they misspelled birthday and incorrectly put a “th” after 80 - photo provided. Sweet Mandy B’s, for $65, you’re better than this.

We are so happy we chose Sweet Mandy B's for our wedding cake and dessert table! Everything looked absolutely beautiful and tasted even better. The cake was not only stunning but also incredibly delicious, flavorful, and exactly what we had hoped for. The dessert table was a huge hit with our guests! From cookies to bars to cupcakes, everything was fresh, beautifully presented, and so, so tasty. We loved getting to include a variety of treats, and Sweet Mandy B’s made the whole process easy and fun. They also offer mini sizes of lots of their treats as well as gluten free options, which was great. Their team was wonderful to work with—friendly, responsive, and clearly very experienced. They brought our vision to life perfectly and made sure every last detail was just right. We’re so grateful for their part in making our day feel extra sweet!

Hewn is a bakery located in the northern suburb of Evanston, with another location in Libertyville. The bakery offers a wide variety of breads, pastries, sandwiches, and flatbreads made from scratch in a warm and rustic space. Owned by partners Ellen King and Julie Matthei, Hewn is nationally known for its hand-hewn artisanal sourdough breads that are naturally fermented without any additives or preservatives. The bakery also champions the heritage grain movement.
Hewn is a spectacular bakery. A beehive of activity, driven by savvy customers who greatly appreciate high-quality breads, pastries, sandwiches and delicious brews. The first baking crew starts their day at 3 a.m. and are ready for the morning crush. Wonderful staff who are all having a great day and show it. My croissant and monkey bread treat were wonderful.

Hewn Bakery is our absolute favorite—we go almost every weekend. The blonde country sourdough is outstanding: perfectly crusty with a rich, complex flavor. All the pastries are incredible too—flaky, fresh, and beautifully made. The quality is always consistent, and the staff is kind and welcoming. I truly believe this is the best bakery on the North Shore. Highly recommended for anyone who appreciates top-notch bread and baked goods!

Omg, when I tell you me and my family have never had better pastries in our LIVES!! They’re fresh baked in the back (which you can see) and the display was great. The bread looked pretty mesmerizing too. They had a huge selection of different but amazing pastries. We walked in mad and fighting and walked out in absolute BLISS. The morning bun, raspberry thing (forgot its name), and chocolate croissant made my day so much happier. We also got some coffees and just heaven I swear. Service was amazing and our cashier was so bright and kind. Please go there your day will be so much brighter.

Solid bakery. Worth popping into if you're nearby and craving a pastry, but not necessary to go out of your way to check it out. We had a chocolate chip cookie, a chocolate croissant, and a chocolate almond croissant. All were good, but unmemorable. The croissants are buttery and flaky which is very good. They are also a little light on the fillings, which makes them fine but nothing of a standout. Similarly, the cookie was tasty and worth eating, but by no means the best cookie I've had this week much less ever. Good, but a definite tier below Lost Larson or Mindy's or some of the other destination bakeries in Chicago.
Lewis L — Google review
They have the CUTEST little sign welcoming you in and you get the heads up of some delightful beverages to pair with any treats you pick up! Their loaves are my family’s favorite weekly staple, we’ve now tried almost every loaf on rotation they offer! My dog gets SO excited when he sees that brown bag come in the door, he knows the bread heels are his little treat! I feel great serving it to my family knowing there’s no preservatives or hidden added ingredients.

Yesterday, Wednesday, I went to Whole Foods and bought a ciabatta bread. They sliced it perfectly, with no collapse whatsoever. So, at last, I can freeze my bread. It's incredible how some people are limited in their approaches and fail to listen to their customers. See my picture below of the sliced ciabatta. A customer recently told me about a new bakery in Evanston. The store’s layout is very efficient, and customers receive service immediately. The various types of bread—ranging from baguettes to croissants to sourdough—are beautifully displayed, making it easy to choose your preferred option. While the prices are slightly higher than average, this is expected for a bakery that offers higher-quality products. However, I was surprised at checkout when the app prompted me to tip, starting at 20%. I find this surprising because the employees are already paid for their work in serving you the bread. Another thing that annoys me is that I asked for the ciabatta bread to be sliced so I can freeze it and toast it as needed, since the loaf is too large for one person. They told me that it was not possible to slice because the bread “will collapse.” OK, so how do I keep it fresh? No response. Plastic bags ruin the crust, same for the refrigerator, and bread boxes are expensive. So, I ended up with a hard, rock-like ciabatta that will be fed to the turtles at the cemetery. Bummer. Could you make smaller ciabattas? Thanks.
Veronica H — Google review
Lots of options to choose from! I ended up getting sourdough and the garlic parmesan sourdough. Both smelt amazing and tasted just as good. Surprisingly cheeper than the ones sold in grocery stores.
Maya S — Google review
I love this place. Fell in vice with the bread the first time I tried it and try to get there every week. Whole Wheat Seeded is my favorite, but they are all excellent. Likewise the tempting pastries taste as good as they look. Staff is cheerful and friendly, and the coffee is good. Check it out! Bb

Nestled in the vibrant Lakeview neighborhood of Chicago, Maison Marcel is a delightful café and bakery that brings a touch of France to the Windy City. This charming spot specializes in organic French-American cuisine, featuring house-baked breads and an array of delectable pastries crafted by talented baker Arnaud Brochard. From flaky croissants to buttery brioche and mouthwatering apple tartes, every bite is a celebration of locally sourced ingredients infused with French flair.
Maison Marcel is not just a coffee shop, it’s a little oasis of inspiration. Inside you’ll find plenty of natural light, greenery, and thoughtful details — from wicker chairs and cozy sofas to vintage décor elements. The atmosphere makes it perfect both for a slow breakfast and for working on your laptop with a cup of coffee The coffee is rich and well-balanced, and the pastries are fresh and delicious. I especially recommend the Almond-Pumpkin Croissant — it was incredibly fresh, soft, with a touch of cinnamon and a smooth pumpkin filling. They also offer sugar-free options, which was a pleasant surprise What I loved most is the harmony of the space: the light, the natural elements, and the calm background music. It’s a place you want to come back to, not only for the coffee but also for the inspiration it gives

Maison Marcel is a cozy breakfast/brunch gem in Chicago. My family and I recently visited for brunch, and it was a wonderful experience from start to finish. The vibe is laid back and comfortable—honestly, it felt more like hanging out at a friend’s home than at a restaurant. The décor is charming and inviting, making it easy to relax and enjoy your meal. I started my brunch with a caramel latte made with Lavazza coffee, which was deliciously smooth and perfectly balanced. For my main dish, I had an omelette that was fresh and flavorful—definitely a great choice. Everyone in our group enjoyed their meals, and the menu wasn’t extensive but there were good options. The service was excellent as well. The staff were friendly, attentive, and made us feel right at home. For five people, our bill came to $147, which felt reasonable given the quality of the food, the atmosphere, and the overall experience. If you’re looking for a cozy spot with great coffee, tasty food, and a welcoming vibe, Maison Marcel is definitely worth a visit!

Very great vibes, but we waited longer than average for what we ordered. My friend loves her quiche, we love the pastry, but I’m not super satisfied with the Benedict eggs. I felt it too greasy but no other tastes. Less butter and a bit more salt should help.
Liana L — Google review
I loved the french music and the vibes of the restaurant overall. Super cozy seating options. Seems like a great place to work from. The food was good, nothing spectacular. The quiche was good, the salad was super fresh and I loved the dressing that came on it. The bread could have used more butter and jam. Disappointing that the pistachio latte was out of stock, it looked great!

Maison Marcel on Broadway in North Chicago is such a charming gem! From the moment you walk in, the cozy French-inspired atmosphere and beautiful décor make you feel like you’ve stepped right into a Parisian café. The staff is warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming, which makes the whole experience even better. The food is delicious and thoughtfully prepared—everything from their pastries to their brunch plates feels fresh and full of flavor. Their croissants are perfectly flaky, the coffee is rich and smooth, and the presentation of each dish is stunning. It’s the kind of place where you can linger, enjoy a slow breakfast, or catch up with friends over a latte and something sweet. Whether you’re stopping by for a quick pastry or a full brunch, Maison Marcel on Broadway delivers both quality and atmosphere. Definitely one of the best spots in Chicago for a taste of France!

I had some time before a doctor's appointment and went to Masion Marcel (I had to look it up it roughly translated to Marcel House). I got a coffee and the Cheesecake. I choose a table with a couch on one side; it was comfortable and supportive. The decor is shabby chic. I returned with my husband next week and had a meal. This time we sat at the fireplace, and it looks quaint, but the hearth really made it difficult to sit back. Our server was great and helped me with the pronunciation. I had the Croque Madame (I saw the Croque Monsieur on Food Network- it is a Gruyere cheese and ham sandwich in a bechamel and cooked under the broiler. I do not know if they use the same method. The Croque Madame is the same with a fried egg on top. The Masion Marcel version did differ here as it was a scrambled egg inside the sandwich. Masion Marcel might be doing it the traditional way and I just saw it with the fried egg.) I had a Nutella latte, for me it was not worth the extra calories. The regular Americano was equally enjoyable. My husband had the matching latte and said it was excellent. He had the Maple Bacon sandwich with egg. Each entrée came with a mixed green salad in a wonderful citrus vinaigrette. Coming back for the Tea for Two or the daily Quiche. It looks like there is parking lot that I will be checking out as well.

Brown Sugar Bakery is a beloved Southern-style bakeshop in Greater Grand Crossing, Chicago, known for its traditional sweet treats and custom cakes. For over 20 years, this bakery has been delighting cake lovers with an array of classic Southern-style cakes, puddings, cupcakes, and cheesecakes in various flavors. The owner, Stephanie Hart, transformed from a tech consultant to a successful mompreneur when she opened the bakery in 2004.
I finally made it here!! I was super excited to satisfy this sweet tooth! Presentation was simple but the treats spoke for themselves. Everything was perfect! Not only was the cake moist but it did a dance on my taste buds. Delicious in every way!

Drove an hour to try their sweets. Found them on social media. The caramel is so good. Pretty dull looking inside. Wish it was more bright and lively for the type of offerings. I’d buy again if out that way. I’d recommend them as well.
Venita N — Google review
The delivery of the cake was timely, within 2 days. The condition of the cake was HORRIBLE…This cake had NOT been frozen. There was one block of dry ice on the bottom of the foam carton. I will NOT be able to service this to my guests today . Shameful for $79.00. Just a waste.. nothing like the shipping noted on the website.

Always busy but the line moves quickly. Second visit because I love their caramel cupcakes and red velvet the most. Cupcakes and pies as well as juices are available. Whole cakes and specialty cakes if Im not mistaken. Service always with a smile.

When it comes to caramel cake, there’s only one place that comes to mind—Brown Sugar Bakery. I’ve never tasted anything better. From their cupcakes to their four-layer cakes, even their sheet cakes—it’s all pure perfection. This place is more than a bakery; it’s a community treasure. Family-owned, full of heart, and consistently blessing us with the sweetest treats around. If you haven’t been, do yourself a favor and go. You’ll thank me later
JUNITO J — Google review
Do not go here for anything important. They completely botched my birthday cakes. I ordered two cakes and specifically requested that they both say “happy birthday” on them and that the red velvet does not contain nuts due to an allergy. When my friend arrives at the bakery to pick up the cakes, not only does neither cake say “happy birthday”, but the red velvet is COVERED in nuts. When we ordered the cakes online, we specifically wrote in the comments box to not include nuts due to an allergy. When my friend told the bakery staff this, they said “we didn’t read the comments on your order.” Why in the world would the bakery staff not read the complete order, especially considering there is an allergy involved?? To add insult to injury, the owner’s fix for this major problem was to give me six cupcakes when I spent over $100 on these cakes. I am hosting a party for over 50 people. Six cupcakes does nothing for me. Had the owner said “we are so sorry for this massive mix up. We will make you another cake straight away and will not charge you due to our mistake”, I might have been inclined to patronize this place again. Unfortunately, the complete lack of competence, service, or care has left a very sour taste in my mouth. I will not be returning here again and I suggest you take your money elsewhere.

I saw the reviews on Facebook along with the various accolades this shop received, so I decided to give it a try. I bought the keep lime cheesecake and a slice of the Obama cake. The cheesecake was ok. I believe it would have tasted better if it was freshly made.(I would like to frequent the store when the items are made that day.) The staff were friendly. Overall my experience was adequate.

A deceptively, simple and spare storefront with the most amazing cakes, cookies, banana, pudding, and other incredible baked products. Their caramel cake is an excuse for a party! I got the chicken melt and really enjoyed it. We also got a few of the cake balls but didn’t really enjoy them. The items we really wanted were gone by the time we got done eating… def get there early for the pastries. Very friendly waitress. Tight seating but would go back.

Food is pretty good I’m obsessed with the hash browns lol. Had the Commercial Park it hit the spot. I tried some of the other sandwiches and they were ok. The Ekhart park sandwich would have been my favorite but the one I got was just a bit too dry. Also tried the Clemente high and was expecting a lot but really could not distinguish any particular flavors.
Charlie D — Google review
Had the short rib egg benedict, slightly disappointed with it; the ratio was a bit off so that it felt like it was a little amount of meat for the English muffin. Everything else was good though; the hash browns, coffee, and they provided hot sauce. They had a variety of options so I would go again to try them out. The staff were super friendly. Oh and they had a wide assortment of pastries. Picked randomly and tried the almond croissant, expected almond filling but had a berry jam, it was still really good.

I used to love West Town Bakery’s vegan trail mix scone. The past few occasions, the quality has been very poor. I rarely leave negative reviews, but today, my $5 scone was exceptionally awful—it had very few mix ins (see photo) and was unusually dry.

Nestled in the heart of Pilsen, Kristoffer's Cafe & Bakery is a charming little gem that has become a beloved staple for locals and visitors alike. This cozy spot specializes in delightful Mexican-style desserts, with their signature tres leches cake stealing the spotlight. Renowned chef Rick Bayless himself has praised it as one of the best he's ever tasted, even surpassing those found in Mexico!
sooooo cute I loved it and would much rather go here than any other chain places like Starbucks or Dunkin. Staff was super friendly and gave me extra time to think about what I wanted to eat, which was nice because I didn't have to rush. no seats though, only carry out. Very big menu with more food than I expected, sandwhiches, omelettes, plenty of baked sweets, cake, etc. Coffee menu was average. They have almond and oat milk for milk alternatives. I got a Cafe mocha with almond milk and a roast beef sandwich. It was super good. it reminded me of the coffee my mom made me when I was younger 🥹🥹 the staff helped give it that family vibe too. very comforting and great food. would recommend and will go again when I get the chance!!

Five stars for the nice lady who works in the back and makes all the food. The cake is amazing and the sandwiches always taste home made. Being Mexican, I have always been embarrassed to admit I am not a fan of tres leches cake... and then one magical day I tried Kristoffer's tres leches cake. I love this place. I'm from a neighboring state so I stock up on the vegan pan when I'm in town 😁. My only regret is not buying more. Love this place. Definitely call ahead if you want certain vegan pans to make sure they're in stock.

Southern France Patisserie is a delightful place where every pastry and dessert is crafted with great care, evident in every delicious bite. The Lyon sandwich, featuring smoked salmon on a croissant, is a standout favorite. The owner, Amanda, ensures that the food sells out quickly due to its popularity, so it's advisable to call ahead and reserve your order. The chocolate croissant is particularly noteworthy for its crispness and flakiness paired with a rich dark chocolate ganache filling.
The best croissants I have ever had! All of the food is amazing: the Lyon sandwich (croissant with smoked salmon) is our food favorite, and all of the desserts we have tried have blown our mind (both in taste and presentation). We discovered this place in early 2022, and have been regularly coming back. Amanda the owner runs out of nearly everything by noon (or even earlier), so we call ahead (around 8 or 9 am) and ask them to set aside the food for us (this works both for takeout or dine-in).

I had made it a goal to find the best chocolate croissant in town when I moved to Chicago two years ago. This is the best one I've found so far! Upon entering I was immediately hit with the aroma of browning butter. The seating is a quaint tea-room vibe with mismatched Victorian China and chairs. The croissant was crisp and flakey while the dark chocolate ganache was soft and rich. I also had a hot cocoa that tasted like I was drinking a full cup of melted chocolate. My partner had the excellent Lyon sandwich with cream cheese, salmon and red onion on croissant. We'll be back!

This place is incredible. Everything is made with such care and you can really tell with every bite. Every crossaint sandwich and dessert I have tried has gone above and beyond. Customer service is great and I absolutely love that when you eat there things are served on nice plates. It's a really nice touch. Lastly, they also have coffee, tea, and hot chocolate options if you're thirsty. I recommend popping in and grabbing something earlier on. It does seem like things sell out.

Absolutely remarkable croissants. I just moved back to Chicago from France and I can confidently say that these croissants rival, if not defeat, the very best I tasted overseas. I visit way more frequently than I should and the consistency in quality is downright impressive. The coffee is yummy too :)

Overall: If you love French-level croissants, don't let this little place pass you by! The good: As mentioned, the croissants are as good as you can find in France (or other great American bakeries). Honestly, it rivals a lot of the croissants I've had in France. Here they are buttery, flaky, well-risen, and delicious. The chocolate added a nice flavor to it as well. The service was very friendly and you can obviously tell that it's independently owned and run. The not-so-good: The atmosphere is ok; peppered with family pictures and French decor, but it needs more. It felt like it was cut and pasted into the layout of the store, and it's not that it was bad, it just needs a more home-y feeling. The water cups are tiny little dixie cups, and it made getting water during our dine-in meal rather inconvenient. And the banana loaf, while great, was a little dry and expensive for its size. Food/drink: 8/10 Atmosphere: 8/10 Service: 9/10

And... i happened to be in Chicago and wanted to visit this place after watching a youtube video on Chef Amanda about croissants. Verdict : ***** I loved the place, the color , arrangement, food , staff & the chef . That salmon sandwich is delicious so as her croissants 😋

Simple and pretty. Good croissant sandwich (as others said in the review, one of the best croissants in the area). French vibe with petite north american touch - I like their croissant bread pudding very much!
Haram K — Google review
phenomenal croissants, truly mastered. compared to another chicago patisserie there is significantly more integrity, rise, and flavor. 83% milk fat from European style Wisconsin butter paired with expert technique makes all the difference! nicely done chef Amanda!

Bakery
Cadinho Bakery & Café, located in McKinley Park, is a charming spot known for its Portuguese pastries. The café offers a cozy atmosphere with ample sunlight and a few tables. However, the real highlight is their delectable tarts, particularly the vanilla-scented egg custard nestled in flaky pastry and balanced by bittersweet chocolate.
Loved the atmosphere of the bakery, the pictures and decor make it very cozy and personal. I loved the prosciutto croissant, different to a French croissant, it’s a bit sweet; mixed with the salty Prosciutto and creamy cheese, simply delish. Also had quiche Lorraine which was so good with its flaky pastry. Finally, I ate their staple pastry, pastel the nata which was delectable. I tried 3 different kinds of coffee and they were all delicious, but my favorite was the Rose Latte; it’s like having good tasting strong coffee with an aftertaste and smell of roses…simply unique. I highly recommend Cadinho…I am buying pasteis de nata to take home (Virginia).

One of the best cafes in the city! They have such a wonderful assortment of sweet and savory treats. Our favorite treats were the passion fruit tart, soyrizo pastry, and raja quiche. I honestly recommend everything though. For drinks we enjoyed the coconut latte (very sweet🥰) & strawberry basil lemonade. Also a great place to hangout and work. The service is wonderful, all the employees are so fab and cool. The owners are also incredibly sweet and easy to talk to. It’s close to McKinley park so you can take a nice walk afterwards to work off all the treats.

Maria created a beautiful carrot cake for our backyard-wedding celebration. She sat with us and helped design the perfect dessert for the occasion. It was enjoyed by everyone. We’ve loved Cadinho since before they opened their location and they’ve been an incredible addition to the community. Their success is well-deserved!

Really cute spot! Pastries are a 10/10. Highly recommended the Pastel de Nata. I also loved their iced chai, by far my favorite. Sandwich menu looked good but I got there too late to order. Will have to come again to try!

I’ve been meaning to come here and it didn’t let me down. Everything is tasty from the pastries, sandwiches, coffee, and the art on the wall. The ambience is relaxing. People are working, families are enjoying, and the owners are welcoming. Really love this place… ☺️

Coffee - top notch! They had a great menu, both the classics and specialty drinks. The barista was able to guide my drink choice and I really enjoyed their brown sugar shaken espresso. The drip coffee was good as well. Food - the pastry section lived up to the hype. We enjoyed two different pieces of quiche (one that our baby enjoyed as well!), the ham and cheese croissant (worth the $$), a pastel de nata (incredible), and a pastel de nata with chocolate. We will be back for more. Service - all the workers were extremely nice and helpful. Experience - we dined in and got there at about 9 on a Saturday. There were a few others dining in and no line. The atmosphere was calming and it was fun to watch the chefs and bakers in action. They had high chairs available for our daughter to use and there was plenty of sitting options. The aesthetic of the cafe is also very nice with fun art displayed on the walls and a clean appearance. We didn’t sit at the bar top but the stools there looked super comfy.

Nestled in the heart of Lakeview, Jennivee's Bakery & Cafe is a charming local gem that beckons dessert lovers with its delightful array of baked goods. This quaint bakeshop specializes in an enticing selection of cakes and cupcakes that beautifully fuse Filipino and American flavors. The inviting atmosphere, adorned with lovely decorative touches, complements the mouthwatering menu perfectly.
Jennivee’s Bakery never misses! The desserts are crazy good — rich, flavorful, and beautifully made. I had a carrot cake cupcake this time, and it was absolutely delicious — moist, spiced just right, and topped with the perfect amount of frosting. I also grabbed an Americano, and it was smooth and bold — a great pairing. Over the past year, I’ve tried several of their desserts, and every single one has been top-notch.

Jennivee’s Bakery & Cafe is amazing! Their ube ice cream is creamy and flavorful, the cupcakes are perfectly moist, and the cookies are always fresh and delicious. The staff is friendly and the atmosphere is cozy. A must-visit spot—perfect for supporting local Filipino businesses!

Left me speechless ; and full. I ordered from this place on Uber Eats, and nothing could have prepared me for the absolute unit of a cake slice that showed up. Massive is an understatement. The Oreo cake? So freaking delicious I had to pause mid-bite and reassess my dessert priorities. It’s rich, but not too sweet, it’s the perfect balance. I’m an avid Crumbl Cookie girlie, but let me be clear: they will never see me again. 😂 Soft. Moist. Balanced. Iconic. 10/10 would recommend.

This quickly became our go to spot for "special occasion" dessert. Always a great variety of slices available and each flavor we've tried has been excellent. Service is always friendly too. Once, my wife and I wanted a simple gender reveal just for ourselves. I picked two different, possible flavors, gave the worker the slip of paper, and he quickly selected the right slice, and boxed and bagged.

Gangnam Market is a newly opened fusion supermarket offering a mix of Asian and American products. While it may not have an extensive selection of specific Asian items, it does offer trendy and young Asian goods alongside general groceries. The market's retro aesthetic with abundant LED lights adds to its appeal. The food court is a highlight, featuring affordable and delicious options from various restaurants. Despite some wait times for certain items during the grand opening, the made-to-order food was fresh and tasty.
Variety of asian brands if you love to try different types of asian snacks, foods, or condiments check this place out! Love the different types of lays, doritos, cheetos, chocolates, jellos, cookies, drinks, and those fruit shaped ice creams! We didnt really care for the ice creams flavors, didnt live up the hype 2/5 but we didnt enjoy eveything else. If your around the neighborhood this is a very cool gorcery store or if your a tourist stop by youll love it!
Foeor — Google review
It's an okay store. The Asian products are a bit limited and are higher in price compared to other Asian markets. The options are mostly American items, so if you need regular groceries in the area, it is probably a good choice. I did like the fact that they have a parking lot, a reward program, and I did enjoy the items from the hot grab and go, but the Musubis were very small for the price. I did buy a few more items that I usually get from the Asian markets, but I'm not sure if I'd come back.

Gangnam Market is a solid spot for all your Asian grocery needs. They carry a wide selection of the usual staples—from fresh produce and noodles to sauces, snacks, and frozen items. What really stands out is the attached food court area with several restaurants offering a variety of tasty Asian cuisines—definitely worth exploring if you’re hungry after shopping. Another big plus: you get 90 minutes of free parking at the Morgan Street garage, which makes the trip super convenient. Clean, well-organized, and a great one-stop shop for both groceries and meals. Highly recommend!

This place is so cool!! We visited early on Saturday, and it was already bustling with people. There are tons of items to catch the eye. We purchased fresh meat, fish, chips, drinks, and, of course, snacks. We also went to the area where they serve the hot food. There, we purchased the most delicious beef buns and garlic rolls. I hope to go back soon to try more of their hot food selections. Gangnam Market is a treat!

This place gives good Asian market vibes. They have some good Korean food like: Gimbap, Bibimbap, Dragon roll along with Japanese Sushi, Gyoza as well as Mexican Tacos. You can also shop some groceries and Asian food items. If you love Asian vibes and food, you will definitely love it here.

Learned of this place on TikTok and wanted to try it. After a couple of months, I finally got to go! I love the whole aesthetic of it all--the neon lights, the music, the atmosphere--I felt like I was back in Japan. I also noticed episodes of the Namek/Frieza saga playing at the bar (but I don't drink) so I asked for permission to eat and watch there. ☀️ I decided to have ramen and bubble tea while I watched: 🍜Seven Faced Bird's Spicy Miso with Wonton Ramen was absolutely delicious! I like spicy, so I ordered house chili oil on the side too. I guess I was going in, because an auntie stopped me to ask where my meal was from and ordered some for herself and her husband. 😂 🧋Stringria's Rose Oolong Milk Tea had beautifully feminine presentation was delicately fragrant. I sipped it in between eating ramen while watching Dragon Ball Z at the bar. The foam on top was a gorgeous end to the rose tea--I'll definitely be coming back for this one. I did go around and see the rest of the store, but the food court was my favorite part. Please come visit for yourself!

We came here for dinner. I got ramen. Kids had rice cake and bakery goods. My boyfriend had sushi. I didn't take a picture of the sushi he got because it wasn't that great for the price he paid. The ramen was just okay. I had better ramen. Their boba teas were great. I think it is the best thing I got here at the food court. Me and the kids got a boba tea drinks individually and we all liked the drinks that we got. We went inside the store and each got a mango ice cream. The ice cream tastes pretty good.

Very good ramen at the food court! Sushi was decent too. Picturesque place too! Curry bun, and bulgogi bun from the bakery were also very good. Choco bear was cute, lol. A lot of items at the store itself were quite expensive though, hence just four stars.

Markellos Baking Company is a delightful Latin bakery that has been a cherished part of the Albany Park community since 1982. Open around the clock, this family-owned gem specializes in an array of mouthwatering treats, including pastries, churros, and vibrant cookies. Originally founded by Markellos Res to share his love for Greek pastries, the bakery has evolved over the years to incorporate delicious Guatemalan and Mexican sweet breads into its offerings.
Irene is AMAZING. We went to her after she baked a delicious Tres leches for my birthday, and wanted to see if she could do a cake for our wedding. Irene made this process so much fun!! She brainstormed with us, shared a few ideas, and in the end, made a cake EXACTLY how we wanted. The cake was beautiful, and the most delicious wedding cake I ever tried. More important than her unquestionable abilities, it is how much she cares about her clients, community, and people. Irene became our friend, and we will never buy cake from anyone else!

Markellos is my favorite place in Chicago! You cannot go wrong with anything in Markellos. Cheese danishes are amazing, the fresh bread comes out every 15 minutes and they're perfect for sandwiches, muffins are soft and light, and there's too much to choose from (which no one ever can complain about). Everything is fresh and hot and it's cheap! You will be lucky to have any pastries left by the time you get home. I highly recommend this place for anyone whether it's 5am or 5pm!

Restaurant
Cellar Door Provisions in Chicago has been serving up top-notch baked goods and delectable dishes since 2014. The space recently underwent a remodel, offering an expanded dinner menu with a focus on Northern Italian cuisine. Chef Ethan Pikas presents a concise, well-edited menu featuring vegetable- and seafood-forward dishes that highlight the quality of the ingredients.
Dishes were creative and unique, had amazing flavor profiles. I absolutely love the lamb carpaccio, never had raw lamb before, it was cured well and paired with gooseberries that popped in the mouth and cut through the greasiness. Mussels were also mind blowing with the taste and creativity. Everything was fantastic until the blue prawns get in the way, they were still kinda raw I know that’s how some places do it but I felt uncomfortable eating raw shrimps, and desserts were subpar. However overall it’s amazing and definitely worth going back for new menu rotations
Nora — Google review
Dinner was lovely at Cellar Door Provisions. Their preparation style highlights the texture and flavors of each main ingredient. Our favorites were the olives brined in house, and the burger. Service was outstanding. I never enjoy when you sit at a chef's counter and the kitchen team pretends they can't see you. That's awkward. This was very different. The chefs asked us questions about ourselves, and chatted with us. They made us feel incredibly welcome.
Rebecca F — Google review
Overall a really great place. We took the servers recommendation to try everything on the menu which was fun as the menu changes nearly daily so being able to try whatever is fresh made sense. I really wish they had been a little more deliberate with a miss was the tomato appetizer was truly a plate of tomatoes with (very good) olive oil - which was kinda disappointing. The peach and watermelon salad though, was absolutely incredible. They also have a fantastic wine list and even some cocktails, excited to go back and try a new days menu!

We had a guest from out of the country. We allowed Chef Megan to design our meal menu. We were not disappointed! The dishes were all unique and delicious. Great service from entry to exit. The owner/chef personally delivers numerous dishes to each table. A true Gem
John B — Google review
We came here on a whim for a celebratory dinner. Our server was the most helpful! We had the loveliest meal with late summer ingredients and really interesting wines. When we got our panna cotta, I couldn’t believe how much flavor came from this simple and unassuming dessert. A new favorite restaurant!
Maggie P — Google review
Cellar Door Provisions’s ethos around well-executed, clean flavors that highlight seasonal ingredients is one I love, but their execution leaves a lot wanting. Understated food can be great, but most of the dishes were one note and unremarkable - the country bread was perfectly average and paired w/ butter that didn’t really have a cultured flavor, and the overwhelming lemon in the mussels’ soubise made for an almost inedible dish. The one highlight were the smoked turnips, which were paired perfectly with macerated baby strawberries Service is a bit worse than average - a little on the inattentive side and a lot on the slow side. For Cellar Door’s price point, I would expect better on both fronts I would believe that Cellar Door is capable of being better than my experience, and their rotating menu means that most of the clunkers are thankfully no longer offered, but unfortunately this disappointment doesn’t motivate a return visit
Amy T — Google review
The food was exceptional. Every dish was better than the last, and having ordered everything at once, the items were delivered in perfect order to escalate the experience as the night went on. The Chef's Counter experience was interesting and even entertaining. Very, very impressive! (I am from a restaurant background and have seen it all).
Nicolle W — Google review
Decided to give this place another try for my birthday yesterday after a miscommunication on their end a few years led to us arriving for my birthday dinner only to find they were closed for a private event. Food and wine were good, but once we ordered our food our server essentially forgot about us. We regularly had to flag someone down for wine and water refills. After we had been sitting for a while with empty plates and glasses, it was clear another reservation for our table had arrived but we hadn’t been offered dessert or drinks yet. Once we flagged someone down so we could order dessert, we suddenly existed to the staff as we were regularly checked in on to the point of us feeling rushed. I would’ve felt bad if their dinner was delayed because we had overstayed our welcome, but had our server remembered our table and offered us dessert or drink refills in a timely manner, we would’ve completed our experience in time for the next group. Despite the menu being framed as family style, the portions are quite small and not presented in a way that makes the food easily shareable along a group of three. They also have pretty minimal non-alcoholic options- no soda or coffee which is odd for a trendy restaurant in 2025. If you are looking to celebrate a birthday here, they do not offer anything fun in the way of candles on your dessert or even a “happy birthday!” when it’s mentioned to your server. Pre-pandemic, we loved this place but as the years have gone by we’ve become increasingly disappointed with the service, communication, and attention to detail. A bummer as it’s a place with great potential.

I got the “viral bagel”. It is filled with a. Thin layer of cream cheese. I expected the cheese to be gooey, but the texture was honestly like bread (and heating it up didn’t help either). $7.38 for a bagel with a little bit of baked cream cheese is wild… I won’t be returning :/

Publican Quality Bread is a renowned bakery that has recently opened its first public-facing location, offering gourmet sandwiches, pastries, and breads. The bakery is led by famed baker Greg Wade and One Off Hospitality, known for providing high-quality baked goods to Chicago's top restaurants. Visitors can enjoy flaky croissants and kouign-amann in the morning or indulge in tartines and substantial sandwiches later in the day. The bakery also offers loaves of bread for purchase.
My go-to bakery, Publican Quality Bread on West Grand Avenue, is hands down the best in town. My family and I absolutely love this place, and we can’t get enough of their delicious bread and pastries. I even made a video about it, but since I’m still new to social networks, it didn’t get many views. I’ve uploaded it here in hopes that someone else might find it helpful. Trust me, if you haven’t checked them out yet, you’re missing out on some seriously amazing baked goods!

We split the mortadella & burrata sandwich and a potato salad. Do not be deceived, this sandwich may look simple but it is packed with flavor and every bite was SO good. The bread was also the perfect texture. Excellent spot!
Kimberly N — Google review
We were craving some sourdough and pastries but feeling a bit lazy, so Publican Quality Bread stood out as the best option available on all the major delivery apps. It’s been on my list to try since I’m always on the hunt for high quality artisanal sourdough, and it’s a huge bonus when a bakery also offers exciting pastries. Their signature Spence sourdough was only available as a full loaf, but you can have it pre-sliced. It was beautifully executed with a perfect crust and a slightly dense yet fluffy interior. The mix of rye and whole wheat gave the bread great flavor, more hearty than sour, but still satisfying. Considering the price, size, and convenience of delivery, this will definitely be one of my top choices when I need a quality loaf. The Chocolate Orange Morning Brioche bun was another standout. It had a beautifully flaky exterior and a rich, slightly gooey center. The orange and chocolate were nicely balanced, though the flavor was bold and perfect for sharing, as it might be a bit much as your only treat. But the Cardamom Monkey Bread? I could eat that every day. It was as good as monkey bread gets, with perfectly balanced spices and a strong, fragrant cardamom flavor. I’ll have a hard time not adding it to every future order. They offer other sourdoughs and pastries that look equally tempting, and I’m looking forward to trying more. I’ll make an effort to visit their physical location sometime, but for now, I really love having great bread delivered right to my door.

The pastry and bread selections are excellent as always. I love visiting on the weekends for their pastry weekend specials. My favorite is breakfast bun, which you should come early if you wanna get a piece since they’re very popular! Besides, the customer service is what makes me come back every day. Shout out to Annabel, Ashley, Francine, Becca, Clementine, and Emma for always making me feel welcomed and taken cared of even during rush hours.

They have great coffee, bread, and pastries. However, I would not go here for lunch or a larger meal than a snack again. Bad pricing. Came a little before closing around 2:00 for a sandwich and there was a zucchini sandwich and a turkey club of sorts. They had a ham sandwich as well that was labeled $13, it seemed to be a good size. We should have gotten and ham. The zucchini and turkey club were not labeled with price; you requested how much of an originally larger, sheet-pan-sized sandwich you wanted cut off for yourself. Not sure what metric they use to determine the price of these chunks they cut off but ours was way off. My partner paid for the meal, so I didn’t notice it until we left and drove away and I saw the receipt for the “sandwiches” but when they asked for a turkey club sandwich, half of what was left on the counter, the staff gave us a square piece that was about 3x3 inches and they charged us over $13 for it… the zucchini one my partner got was about double the size and charged the same price. I’m sorry, I like the fresh bread and baked goods from here but charging nearly $14 for a tiny 3x3” piece of a larger sandwich and same price for about a 5x6” chunk totaling over $30 is ridiculous, even for a ‘homemade healthy ingredients’ aesthetic. If you come here, stick to loaves and pastries or check they’re charging you the right prices.

The food is soooo good. One of my favorites in Chicago. The sandwiches (pay by the pound) are delicious. My daughter loves their fruit danish. Of course the bread is great too.

We're go here at least once a week. The pastries are certainly some of the best in the city, and the bread is great too. If you've never been, be prepared to wait. The line is frequently out the door on the weekends, but it moves fast - it's rarely more than 20 minutes, and worth the wait

This is my first visit to Publican Quality Bread, but I have eaten at Publican and shopped at Public Quality Meats. I was in the neighborhood and the timing was perfect because it was 1:00 ish and the fresh bread was being brought out. Woo Hoo! The front retail space is very small, fridge in corner, bread shelves, pastry display case and counter. I bought a Kouign Amann, Chocolate Croissant, Baguette and Ciabatta. I'll be back to try some of the freshly made sandwiches. Très bien! 🥖🥐

Swadesi Cafe offers a thoughtfully crafted menu with a great balance of textures and flavors, showcasing modern Indian cuisine by Chef Sujan Sarkar. The interior design, playlist, and steel plates create an ambiance reminiscent of India. The cafe is praised for its outstanding service, atmosphere, and inventive menu featuring delicious pastries and coffee. It's a great place to relax while enjoying unsweetened masala chai and exploring the selection of pastries and sandwiches.
As an Indian-American, this place is a dream!! Synergizing the absolute best of Indian nostalgic flavors and decadent pastries and baked goods, Swadesi hit it outta the park for breakfast this morning! Although the croissants were not available when the shop opened, we delighted in the breakfast sandwich, paneer puff, incredible chocolate chip cookie, and perfect drinks. Still thinking about the Rose Cardamom Latte!! So so so happy that this shop is part of our community, and look forward to coming back soon! Gulab Jamun Cheesecake Croissant is what dreams are made of!! Front of the house staff could have been a bit more welcoming to match warm Indian hospitality and the stellar culinary delights, but highly recommend!!

I checked out Swadesi Cafe on a Friday morning. The ordering process was easy and quick, and the cafe was packed with people working. I ordered an iced chai latte, breakfast sandwich and the butter chicken croissant. It was very good and I would return. A kind gentleman got the wrong vanilla latte and gave it to me! It was iced vanilla latte with cream on top and it genuinely was excellent. Give this place a go if you want something fun, new and delicious!

As a South Asian, my people will do it every time 😩. I had the chicken tikka toastie, so so good perfect amount of crispiness and ratio of chicken to bread was perfect. I also had the Salted Jaggery Caramel Latte and Gulab Jamub Croissant. The latte was so good,I was expecting it to be more sweet than it was, but it wasn’t too sweet, and you can definitely taste a little more than a hint of Jaggery which was not to subtle and not too overpowering! And omg the croissant, it was literally magnificent, a little too sweet for me personally but the filling was really good and had pieces of gulab jamun. Overall the atmosphere was nice, aesthetic, service was good, and you can tell they put thought into the creations!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Swadesi Cafe - Fresh Vibe & Great Bites on Jefferson Stopped by Swadesi Cafe on Jefferson today and was immediately impressed! The space feels incredibly fresh, open, and has a wonderful, welcoming feel. For breakfast, the food selection was varied and tempting, but I went with a classic: the Bacon Egg and Cheese biscuit. It was excellent—a perfect, satisfying start to the day. I paired it with a cup of their coffee. The quality of the food was definitely there. I did find the pricing a little higher than expected, with a basic 12 oz drip coffee at $4 and the BEC biscuit at $8. Overall, I think Swadesi is going to be a popular spot. With the new medical school (IllinoisCOM) and the move of The Chicago School arriving just a block south in Summer 2026, this location is perfect. While the price point might make it an occasional treat rather than an everyday stop for a quick cup and snack, it's a fantastic cafe and a great addition to the neighborhood. I'll certainly be back! #SwadesiCafe #ChicagoFood #WestLoopGate #BreakfastChicago #CoffeeShop #ChicagoCafe

Oh my gosh!!!! This was the most incredible coffee shop I’ve ever been to. Inspired by Indian flavors & brunch, this place takes the cake. I got the paneer pastry and the Salted Jaggery Caramel Latte. It was SO good. I’ve never had a latte so delicious. Plus the demographic was so diverse, it was lovely to be around.

Absolutely absolutely divine! This might be my favorite place I’ve tried to date in Chicago - the drinks and food both hit the spot. We ordered the chili cheese sandwich, which was the perfect balance of cheesy, crunchy, and infused with Indian flavors. I feel like this is Indian brunch done right, as someone who isn’t South Asian. I loved how many different beverages there were, all of which were a nice homage to Indian cuisine. To nobody’s surprise, it was absolutely packed on Saturday so be prepared to fight for a seat!

Casual cafe for a light meal. The food has an Indian taste with an American twist such as a super flavorful Indian-spiced cheese sandwich or a croissant filled with paneer and such. Amazing, fun idea. The matcha drink, strawberry drink and chai were all amazing. Most chai is too milky, over boiled, or too sweet, but this one was perfect. Large tables for lots of friends or smaller tables for a few. Wheelchair friendly.

Great Indian fusion place. The jaggery chocolate chip is to die for!. God it is so good, gooey, right mix of dark and milk chocolate, and the jaggery adds something unique. The samosa chaat croissant and malai custard croissant were great. The imli chutney in the samosa croissant was such a great complement to the buttery croissant base. The malai one was not too sweet, and was the right balance of creamy and nutty from the pistachio. The peanut latte was awesome too. Imma try adding peanut butter to my latte, such a good combo. It does get crowded but not too bad if you make it before 10 on most days.

Umaga Bakehouse is a newly opened Filipino bakery located near Seafood City in Chicago. Despite the high demand, they offer a variety of freshly baked Filipino bread, pastries, and traditional desserts. Customers have praised their pandesal, hopia, suman, Spanish bread, and Pan de Coco for their authentic flavors and quality. Some feedback suggests that Umaga Bakehouse could improve by providing a menu either in-store or on social media to help customers make informed choices while waiting in line.
It felt like Paris baguette but Filipino version. They have so many options from different pandesal, cakes, suman, and more pastries. You would never leave the store empty handed! Our personal favorite is their Ube tres leches, not a fan of the milk bar (it’s super dry and tastes like hopia). We visited around lunchtime, and the line was long, with very limited seating available. If you’re planning to dine in, be prepared for a wait!

Umaga bakehouse! When you walk on you are greeted with the most amazing smell from all of the fresh baked pastries. This visit was all about the Ube for me. I purchased a slice of Ube cake which was moist and delicious. Sweet but not overly so. I also purchased a package of ube pastries from the shelf and a dozen senorita pastries which are freshly baked and served in a beautiful box warm with sweet butter. This was so delicious! I highly recommend trying these as this is definitely one of the best pastries/ bread I have ever eaten. The ube makes it slightly sweet. You absolutely must try it. You won't be disappointed.

Umaga Bakehouse is located in a shopping plaza, with other Filipino businesses nearby. There was a large variety in this store, some items were not typical of what I've seen near me. Merienda/Snacks, desserts, sweet, savory items; by the piece or shareable. If I lived in the area, would be able to sample them little by little but we were just visiting (mid 8/2025). Since I don't know pricing in Chicago, I would say similar to NYC prices. As far as the food, some we liked, others were just ok. For the pies, we got the buko pie slice first- the coconut slivers were hard and it was dry so skipped getting the whole pie. Instead, we got the whole egg pie which was a winner. Pichi pichi and puto bumbong looked appetizing but they were not soft when eaten right away. Need to be heated up. Halo halo had a lot of beans and a caramelized crumble topping. Was good but not what I prefer in terms of ingredients. Good snack buns like the corned beef bun (multi-pack, $5) and longganisa bun ($4 each). Special ensaymadas were $5.49. Salted egg one had a custardy filling and was pretty good. I got a taste of one of their tres leches but was too sweet for me. Added points for the ambiance - the warm tones and food displays are inviting; just a few tables inside though but we had to sit and taste some of the goodies already. And for service which was very friendly.

Clean, fast, and amazing service. I bought the halo halo- ice cream on top, which was really good but needs more ingredients. Ube tres leches was great and salted egg ensaymada. Bought other flavors, too, but I have not tried it yet. Will definitely come back and would like to try the pancit palabok.

When I first came in I was new to all flavors and options, im someone who loves loves bread i was so used to hispanic panaderias and wanted to try something new at the time (was super glad I did, now its my go to spot). The Older lady at Umaga Bakeshop is always so sweet and welcoming, she was actually the first one to introduce me to everything in their store, and gave me recommendations, Every time I come in, she greets me kindly and takes her time to make sure everything’s right. You can tell she really cares about her customers. Her warm personality makes the place feel cozy and comforting, and it honestly makes me want to keep coming back. I definitely reccomend anyone new to try the Ube Rolls royce ube swirls ! theyre really good.

I had a long day and planned to just order food via ubereats. It was delivered accordingly on time. I was in shock that the igado is cold like fresh from refrigerator almost frozen. I had no choice to microwave it even I hate microwaveable food. Then the binatog for my dessert supposedly it was cold again just out from refrigerator. It was very disappointing! Waste of my money, time! I ordered here couple of times it was just ok and not that good. Never again to this…..

Señorita bread fresh out of the oven is amazing. Their version of a kouign-Amann, the queenie, with jack fruit had nice flavor and crisp. Nothing was overly sweet. Everything else we tried was just okay. I was a little confused with their ube horchata because I couldn’t taste the ube or any semblance of horchata. I wish they served hot drip coffee because what is pandesal without hot black coffee? Store itself looked great, very clean, and well stocked.

Del Sur Bakery, a delightful takeout-only spot nestled in Lincoln Square, is a treasure trove of Filipino-inspired pastries that are nothing short of culinary art. Their longanisa croissant and turon danish showcase stunning honeycomb structures and layers that practically beg to be admired. But the magic doesn’t end there; their menu also features unique treats like ube oatmeal cream pies and bay-leaf-infused adobo brownies, each bursting with flavor.
Del Sur is amazing! They make beautiful, delicious, and creative pastries and drinks. I am a bit limited on what I have tried as I have to eat gluten free but my friends and family assure me that all of the other choices are wonderful too! I am a huge fan of the ube mo cha latte (love that they use Volition tea) and the bibingka. There is always a wait but it is definitely worth it. Thank you for the delicious treats and nice experiences! I can't wait to visit again!

Really great pastries! Very creative flavor combinations, some sweet, some not more on the savory side! I got the Turon danish and pandan basque cake, both delicious! Turon danish hit like classic Turon, and pandan basque cake wasn’t too sweet. It’s clear that a lot of thought was put into the quality and creativity of the pastries. Looking forward to coming back!

Went last Sunday and love their pasties! Highly recommend the longanisa Croissant, Pandan Basque Cake, and the Seasonal Hand Pie! Lines aren’t as hectic as when they first opened, but I still suggest getting there early since they do sell out and are only open during the later half of the week. Also no seating area.
Megan R — Google review
I went at 9am and it they had plenty of everything! There will usually be a line, it’s not the fastest tho, so plan to wait a bit • Turon danish ⭐️4/5 It was so flaky yet soft, the soft layers peeled off beautifully!! There’s an applesauce/jam layer under the custard that blended surprisingly well. Easy to split and eat on the go! • Longanisa ⭐️4.5/5 The sausage and glaze are delicious!! But it is very messy, so ask for utensils (then you won’t get bites of just bread or just sausage either). The outside of the croissant is sticky and super flaky—it will get EVERYWHERE lol. Update: • Pumpkin seeds muffin ⭐️3/5. It had pumpkin seeds and date Carmel, but it honestly just tasted like a regular bran-muffin lol (unless you love bran muffins, probably try something else) **they have wooden utensils! So if you plan to eat them out, I highly recommend—it makes the messy but delicious longaniza experience better haha

Langonisa croissant, Bibingka with sesame seeds. Pandan Basque cake, Ube oat cream pie, Turon danish, Adobo brownie and Calamansi chamomile brioche bun …! Delicious new flavors and a new twist to pastry favorites. Truly creative! No wonder there’s always lines out the door.
Blanca B — Google review
Woke up early to get there at open, but not good enough there was already a line and it did not move fast but I get it. Del Sur has some creative options that aren’t cheap so I understand the need to understand what stuff is. The your woman taking orders was kind, patient and logical, I appreciated her due diligence to help me because I ordered 2 of everything 😜. We loved it all BUT, I will the longanista Croissant and the hand bun were absolutely phenomenal, I’d get more for sure. The oatmeal Ube cookie was excellent!!! Definitely a must go
Vishal S — Google review
I love love love their pastries! 1. ✅ There’s an element of “crunch” / texture in all of their pastries. That turon danish def got the crunch perfectly — from the dried bananas to the lamination. 2. ✅ Not too sweet ~ it’s a perfect balance for me. If you don’t want the savory flavor ones mixing with the sweet pastries (in the box), try asking if they can put it in a separate parchment paper or something. 3. ✅ Even after 3 to 5 days in the fridge, it’s still soooo good! Do not microwave them. Just eat straight from the fridge or leave at room temp. 💖 I personally love the pandan basque cake, calamansi chamomile bun (but like croissant buns w the very refreshing creaminess in the middle), piña colada muffin (it’s kinda mid-sweet & mid-savory for me) ube oatmeal, & their croissants. Want to try everything! But will def try their adobo brownies and hand pies next time. 🌼 📸 *leftovers in the photo bc ~ ate them straight away! 🤭

We’d been noticing long lines outside this bakery, so I got curious and did a little digging. Turns out they’re doing some pretty creative things with Filipino flavors. So when we walked by and saw no line, we jumped at the chance to check it out. The staff was cheerful and carefully packaged everything with a level of finesse that made the pastries feel extra special. We started with the Toasted Rice Croissant. The flavor was interesting, but it didn’t quite land for us, it needed a little more texture or complexity to really shine. Then we tried the Pandan Basque Cake, and that was a hit. The creamy top paired beautifully with the thick cookie-like base. It had just the right amount of sweetness. Honestly, my only complaint is that I wish it was a little bigger. Presentation-wise, these pastries are made to be photographed. I’m definitely planning to go back and try more, especially the Ube Oatmeal Cream Pie. Prices are on the higher side, but hey—beauty doesn’t come cheap.

Very good food and friendly staff! It's such a cute restaurant with character. It's not quite like Paris, but they try to make it as French-feeling as possible. I think the quiche Lorraine was delicious. It's a bit pricey, but that's to be expected in Lincoln Park. I would recommend trying it out if you like French, and French-inspired food.

Great lemon tart! Came here for a food tour. The flavors were amazing, with the fresh fruit brightening the nice tart lemon filling(it was very lemony). La Boulangerie & Co California is a bread lover's paradise with multiple locations. They import flour from France and bake all their breads, pastries, and treats from scratch every morning. Their Brioche and Sourdough loaves are highly recommended for making the best homemade French toast. The bakery offers traditional French delights like Tarte au framboise (raspberry tart) and Parisien sandwich.
Buttery and flaky, yet still moist and fluffy, my croissant somehow achieved the impossible! Each bite somehow carried the next, until the whole symphony joined in and then just as simply and elegantly as it began, it was over. This ham and Swiss croissant will forever be remembered as something truly special. I must also mention that the clerk was especially kind and thoughtful—a true professional.

It’s a busy morning spot on a Sunday! They have outdoor seating in good weather too. It’s a narrow space inside full of treats, alcohol, and other drinks! The chocolate croissant was tough and not flakey, nor was it warmed up. The coffee with caramel was pretty good though and gave that needed boost of caffeine! Probably a good spot to grab a drink for a party too.

I hit their Wednesday food stand at Michigan outside the Apple Store for a pain au chocolate. It was the big thick dense kind. I hope to try more. It has a lovely yummy taste, the bread was really tasty, like what I imagine a really good homemade pain au chocolate would taste like. Home bakers, you know what I mean. A little light on photos.

Unfortunately, my experience here was pretty disappointing. The service was incredibly slow, even though the café wasn’t that busy. Staff seemed disinterested and borderline rude…no greeting, no smile, just an energy that made me feel unwelcome. I couldn’t help but feel there was a hint of bias in how I was treated compared to other customers, which left an even worse taste than the coffee. I ordered a latte and a croissant, and both were underwhelming. The latte tasted burnt, and the croissant was dry and far from the buttery, flaky texture you’d expect from a French bakery. I really wanted to like this place, but nothing about it lived up to the hype. There are definitely better coffee spots in the area.

Just discovered La Boulangerie & Co California on the 606 and wow—definitely worth the stroll! Dropped about $18 on a flaky ham‑and‑gruyère croissant, a mocha latte, and a fresh berry tart. We come here for croissants and sandwiches frequently. Good food but the manager or owner targets individuals on who they want in the store with dogs. Have seen plenty of people come in with dogs waiting for their sandwiches but to single us out while there was another person with their dog? Crazy. Good food. Bad vibes *Thank you for the reply and honesty: also - it wasn’t a man but a lady with darker brown hair.

Love having a French bakery in the neighborhood. Most of the pastries taste fresh-you know- made the same day fresh. However, service is so painfully slow!!! You will wait 10-15 mins in line, just to wait another 10-15 mins for one sandwich. Something is off about their intake process. Ughh. So I skip this place often because of the long wait.

As soon as I walked in, I was greeted with a warm welcome and full description and explanation of the menu. I tried the shokupan cinnamon roll, salted caramel peach pie and banana pudding. My favorite was the peach pie; the caramel paired with the peach was so delicious and I loved the texture of the pie and crust! I personally wasn’t a huge fan of the banana pudding; I prefer a more mousse-like texture with a more vanilla-forward flavor and this one was more pudding-like. The flavor of the cinnamon roll was AMAZING but I wish it was a bit softer and warmer. However, I did go later in the morning and got one of the last rolls so this could have been because I didn’t get there early enough. Definitely a place that everyone should visit!

I got the baked apple fritter, my wife got the potato + leek + tomato croissant, and we both got a chai latte. The apple fritter was incredible, although I’m not sure I’d call it an apple fritter. It was more like a cinnamon roll but with apple instead of raisins. Still delicious though! The chai latte was also delicious; it actually tasted like chai instead of just sugar like most places.

Went to Sweet Rabbit Bakery early in the morning and it hit the spot. Place smelled like fresh pastries the second I walked in. No line, quiet, felt real cozy. Tried the monkey bread instead of my usual pastry and honestly, it was the best choice. Golden outside, soft inside, sticky caramel glaze all over it. Just sweet enough without being too much. Had it with a hot coffee and yeah… dipping the bread in there was next level. Got my order quickly and the staff was friendly, even gave me some ideas for what to try next time. Easy place to like, and I’d go back just to work through the case.

Their bakery goods are better than their drinks. What stole the show for me was actually their milk bread they sell. I don't currently have a picture, but it was phenomenal. Besides that the honey bun was an absolute delight knowing the frosting was honey flavor based. For a shop that's been around roughly a year, they're doing a great job!

Probably the best and most unique Bakery I've been to. Had quite a few pastries there with my family and everyone loved all of it. The use of different grains makes for a delightful spin on the classic baked good. Definitely a place we plan on returning to Everytime we are in Chicago.

Sweet Rabbit truly feels like one of the most underrated bakeries in the area. I don’t know how this place hasn’t gotten more popular! Their pastries and bread always are absolutely amazing. I plan my weeks around getting baked bread here (especially the miso bread). And their pastries are out of this world! I especially love the Hunny Bunny (truly melts in your mouth) and the Morning Cardio croissant (my go-to, the filling is so yummy). Lastly, their sandwiches are perfect to take to-go, especially to grab on the way to the lake. You truly can’t go wrong with any of their baked goods!

This bakery is such a delightful spot with fresh pastries that taste as good as they look. The bread is soft and flavorful, and the cakes have just the right balance of sweetness. Everything feels homemade with extra care, and the variety makes it hard to choose just one thing. The place has a warm, inviting atmosphere that makes you want to come back often. It’s definitely a go-to for anyone with a sweet tooth

My go-to spot for fruit danishes and croissants which are always perfectly flaky and full of flavor. The selection is always varied which adds to the fun of stopping by on the weekend and picking something new to taste or share with friends. Plus it feels great to support a neighborhood business!

Coffee: okay Tea: good Pastries/bread: excellent Customer service: if you get the guy with dark hair and tattoos then 1/10. He seems perpetually grumpy and looks offended every time a customer walks in the door. If you get the older gentleman then 10/10 - he’s super sweet and adorable. Overall: quick service and good product

Bakery
Au Levain Bakery is a new permanent bakery that originated from a pandemic pop-up by Bistro Campagne's pastry chef, Angel Chavez. The bakery is set to open in late September and offers creative pastries such as the kouign amann with apple and Brie, which has received high praise for its flaky, chewy, and sweet perfection. In the meantime, customers can find their delectable pastries at various farmers markets and DueLire on Sundays.
An absolute gem of a Café! Au Levain offers some incredible pastries, lovely croissants and some of the best staff I've ever encountered. I went in with my Wife on a Saturday morning and we were both kindly greeted by everyone by the counter, only to then marvel at all of the beautiful looking food behind the glass. We ordered a Lemon and Blueberry Danish, along with a plain croissant, an Earl Grey Blondie and some coffees. All of them were delicious in their own way and made me want to just order everything they had. I typically don't care for pastries with fruit and yet not only was the Lemon Blueberry Danish incredible, but it truly rivaled pastries that I've had in Paris. The Earl Grey Blondie was so tasty as well and everything was great enough, that we've made it a point to go back a few times already. If you find yourself in Lincoln Square, you should definitely check out Au Levain!

I discovered this place while driving from work, so I decided to stop by for a nice lunch. The customer service started off badly as this guy ( image below with glasses) didn't take interest in taking my order. Not a "Hello, welcome." I ordered a sausage sandwich and a croissant to begin my review. So far, the croissant had a buttery soft flavor that it was a bit pricey than what they sell at starbucks! The sausage egg sandwich took a surprise twist as it had a giant cooked sausage. The taste was quite delicious, but not necessary to eat, especially for a small breakfast! To sum it all up, this place has earned 3/5 stars for the disappointment of customer service. I know this place just opened, but i expect better than that. They need to train their employees effectively or hire new ones with customer service skills to help gain more customers and make them feel welcome, especially those who are new like me.

Learned about this bakery from a friend last week. Tried it this morning with another friend for brunch. Food was delicious. Pastries were light and flaky. Egg sandwich was nice balance of sausage, egg, cheese, and buttery sourdough. We arrived around 10:30 Sunday morning and a lot of the goods were sold out. Father and son waited on us and were courteous. Very clean. Will definitely go back to try other baked goods.

Discovered this place by accident after car battery died so I was annoyed. Came in and they were so welcoming and friendly. So put me in a better mood. LOL . Was delicious. Almond croissant and salmon dill on homemade English muffin. Will be back to try other things!

One of the best bakeries on the north side! I’ve enjoyed everything I’ve gotten there over the past two months but if you’re looking for some of the BEST croissants in Chicago then look no further. They are so flaky you could slice one open and count the individual layers. I love that the selection rotates enough that every visit there’s something new to try. Sunday was no exception. The Chorizo Croissant sounds so simple but it was so incredibly delicious! A layer of chorizo, guacamole, crumbled cheese…but together was perfection. Two pretty regular pastries I highly recommend are the lemon blueberry danish and the chocolate hazelnut babka.

Came here for the first time today to try the goods. Got the ham & cheese croissant in lieu of an absent pan au chocolat. It was delicious, I love the mustard which made it zesty. I also saw a pack of sourdough english muffins that looks so moist. I got myself a bag. They were outstanding! I ate one by itself, I couldn’t stop biting on it after tasting it. I had my 2nd just with butter, so yummy. Hope it’s a regular item.

We come here every other week, if not once a week and love it. Their breakfast sandwich and French toast are fantastic. The sandwich has caramelized onions on it that really brings the whole sandwich together. Their pastries are fantastic as well with the pistachio escargot being a household favorite. The only pastry I wouldn’t get again would be the cookie croissant, but only because it was too sweet for my personal taste. I recommend going on the earlier side because it’s a neighborhood favorite and they usually sell out of the really good pastries early. We haven’t gotten any of their lattes, but their specialty Au Levain Sparrow coffee has to be some of my favorite coffee in the city. And lastly, the staff is great. I’m not sure what time of day or how busy it has been when people have gone and haven’t found the staff to be kind or welcoming. Every time we have gone in we are usually greeted, they wait quietly as you look over the selection, but that’s how most bakeries are. The older gentleman usually plates the pastries and prepares the black coffees as the younger gentleman takes the order and checks customers out. The staff have also allowed me to take pictures inside their shop and will have polite conversation even. And upon leaving we have always heard them say thank you or goodbye.

Service was great. Ordered the lox muffin and cajeta latte, amazing! The muffin was fresh, soft and it’s a generous amount. And the cajeta latte was delicious, not too sweet and perfect temperature (didn’t go cold quick). Been a costumer for over a year, so I’m so happy to have them in the neighborhood!
