The Dog & Gun is a beloved traditional venue in Keswick, known for its dog-friendly atmosphere and fantastic menu. The pub offers a mix of contemporary and classic dishes, along with a selection of cask ales. The cozy setting features timber beams and a welcoming fireplace, creating an inviting ambiance for locals and holidaymakers alike. Visitors can savor the famous Hungarian goulash, as well as other popular dishes like beef & ale pie, fish and chips, and chicken with woodland mushroom pie.
If you ever find yourself in Keswick and you are looking for a fantastic place for food and drink? Then the Dog and Gun is the place to visit. They have a vast selection of real ales and lagers, they are also renowned for their famous goulash. Which I can confirm is the tastiest thing I’ve eaten in a long time 😋 the staff are friendly and dogs are welcome. Ru served us whilst we were here and she made us feel very welcome and relaxed. We shall definitely be returning to the Dog and Gun when we visit Keswick again. 😊

Been to Keswick many times never thought to come to this pub till Wednesday night. Very warm welcome from waitress, she was so lovely finding us a seat and recommending the Goulash. Demonstrating size of dishes. Really lovely lady. Goulash was fabulous. Pub so friendly and cosy. Great place will never avoid again!!!!
Christine H — Google review
Lovely place with a healthy range of vegetarian options. Very atmospheric and delicious food. The veggie goulash was very good.
Jo A — Google review
Nice pub, family and dog friendly. Big portions, a big goulash which I couldn’t finish and a cider cost me 20£. Goulash was tasty, rich flavor, but very filling.
Eliza A — Google review
Wow what a find, there are obviously several pubs in the town, but this caught our eye. Great welcome as soon as we walked in with the dogs. Service at the bar was quick and friendly. Food was tasty and came in good time and Ru was great we had a good chat and she loved the dogs..
Paul G — Google review
Not much to fault here! The prices were extremely reasonable and wait times for food were pretty short. The food itself was also delicious! (Not many peas in my mushy peas) but for the price of this it was brilliant! The only thing you must beware of is just how busy it gets! Particularly around 5.30-6 you can be waiting a long time to get a table and end up quite cramped in even when you find one.
Ben G — Google review
Lovely pub in the centre of Keswick, with traditional style beams and warm welcoming atmosphere. Within minutes of our arrival at 12 noon, the pub filled up, always a good sign. Staff were cheerful, friendly and helpful. Both the bar and food service were efficient. Food was very good, nicely presented and tasted lovely. Good selection of dishes are available from the menu. This pub has a greet selection of local real ales and beers. Dogs are very welcome in this pub, water bowls and treats are available for them. The interior was very cosy and looked nice having just been decorated for the festive season. Everything was immaculate and tidy.
Paul W — Google review
Came here this evening for their signature goulash and wasn’t disappointed . Got the standard size portion and very tasty snd filling. Washed down with a couple of beers. Large selection of craft and tap beers. Dog friendly and excellent service. Well worth a visit whilst in keswick. Total cost for meal and beers was reasonable.

Gastropub
Located slightly outside of Keswick but still within walking distance, The Pheasant Inn Keswick is a traditional British pub offering a cozy atmosphere and a menu of hearty comfort food. As a CAMRA pub, it prides itself on serving well-kept local beers and offers outdoor seating. The establishment takes pride in using local produce to create dishes bursting with flavor, such as free-range pork Cumberland sausage and their renowned fish pie.
We turned up "on spec" to what looked like a fully booked restaurant, however, the lady in charge managed to organise a table for 2 without issue. Although full the atmosphere was good and talking was easy. We ordered 2 Sunday lunches and after a short wait we were not disappointed. Both plates were full of really good quality food which we would say had been freshly prepared. David the waiter was really attentive making sure any requests were granted, he was also very friendly and approachable delivering excellent service with a smile. The whole team were spot on and a credit to the business. Highly recommended. Book and enjoy.

Absolutely fabulous pub for both food and real ale drinks. We had the chicken, leek and bacon pie with a tarragon sauce. Absolutely amazing with perfectly cooked vegetables. I will definitely eat here again.
Toot T — Google review
Went here for dinner with my brother. We showed up to a full packed restaurant, with barely room to move. Servers got us a table quickly, and got us drink in no time at all. Food was incredible. We got two cups of soup( Stilton and broccoli, so good) for an appetizer, and some shrimp. The shrimp were good but not world class, soup was world class. For dinner, I got a staked with the green peppercorn sauce. It was amazing! Seriously the sauce was game changing. My brother got the fish pie, and he insisted it was excellent. I’d go back next time I’m in town, and would consider a special trip to dine here.

Simply delicious food! On an off chance we found this place after a hike and we couldn't be happier that we did. This dog friendly, traditional style pub restaurant has amazing food, particularly the pies, and a little dog menu as well. All at a fair price for the top quality meals. The staff were all friendly on arrival and throughout. We will visit again on our trips to Keswick.

Came for Sunday Lunch. They were able to accommodate a walk-in which was great. Ordered 1x Pork and 1x Beef. Generous meat portion, nice pink beef with a good amount of veggies, mash, stuffing and some lovely gravy. Brilliant Roast and great value for money too.
Zoe S — Google review
The best experience start to finish. We secured a last min booking for 2 people on a busy Friday evening. The staff couldn’t do more to accommodate us and were super friendly from start to finish, making our experience special. The food was 10/10 every mouthful was delicious, we were stuffed full but made room for dessert and I’m so glad we did! The decor was gorgeous, proper cute country pub. Will definitely be returning on our next trip to Keswick. Thank you all at the pheasant!! Bill came to aprox £80 which I thought was a bargain for 2 alcoholic drinks, 2 mains & desserts!!
Natalie S — Google review
We booked dinner here, having called ahead to book a dog friendly table. We sat inside, a lovely atmosphere. Service was very swift with a smile, food was great. Treats and water available for dogs. Great menu, great food, we will defineatly be back.

A lovely traditional pub, friendly and welcoming, delicious food, good atmosphere, great value. Just what we needed to escape a rainy evening on the campsite! We will definitely be back next time we’re in the area.

Restaurant
Nestled in Keswick, The Bank Tavern is a beloved traditional pub with low ceilings and a cozy beer garden. It's a popular choice for locals and tourists seeking classic British comfort food and local ales. This dog-friendly establishment warmly welcomes furry companions with treats and attention from the staff. The menu features hearty pub fare, making it an ideal stop for couples and families after a day of exploration.
Friendly staff good food and good service. Me and the gf had the steak and ale pie with veg and potatoes and was really nice. Didn't have to wait long at all. We then had sticky toffee pudding with custard each and that was also lovely. Hit a jug of custard each. The funny thing is when we walked past the entrance the next day out springer tried pulling us back into the place. Dogs aren't allowed on the carpeted area as a rule but are allowed everywhere else. We was luck because our table was on the tiled area near the beer garden door. Would eat there again.
Nigel H — Google review
Absolutely loved this pub. Proper pub atmosphere, great selection of drinks. The food was fantastic - nothing fancy, just good pub food done very well and very reasonably priced. We had dinner twice here on our stay in the area. A real gem.
Jessica M — Google review
Great pub,dog friendly, top quality food,i would give 10 stars if there was this choice. I had the lamb and mint pie my son had the lamb shoulder, the meat fell off the bone and the lamb in the pie was cooked to perfection and plenty of it . Best of all no gimmicks (chips in buckets,or little fry baskets ) and proper gravy not out of a gravy granuel tub . staff are warm and welcoming and great, lots of people with full tummy's and happy sleepy dogs.
Gail D — Google review
The four of us wanted a Sunday roast. Reviews of The Bank Tavern looked ideal. There was a choice of lamb or beef, unfortunately we chose beef. The Yorkshire pudding, vegetables and the roast potato were fine but the beef was as tough as old boots. We were offered serrated knives to cut the beef but needed serrated teeth to chew it!! The plates weren’t warm so the meal got cold very quickly. So disappointing!!

Totally GREAT LOCAL ENGLISH PUB.... So fun...mint lamb shoulder meal was so good...so much to eat..nice folks at next table...

Well-kept Timothy Taylors on draft. Excellent food. Great atmosphere. What more could you want after a day on the fells?

I have really enjoyed visiting The Bank Tavern on both my visits to Keswick this year. In May i dined here twice with friends and i was so impressed with it i came back again whilst in town, with my partner in September There is lots to choose from between the menu and the specials board and I've not struggled at all to find something different and delicious on each of my 3 visits. My partner has a vegan and gluten free diet and she had no issues finding options that she could eat too. Food is very tasty and comes in decent sized portions at a very reasonable cost. There's a nice, warm atmosphere in The Bank Tavern and the staff have always been nice and friendly. Oh, cracking pint of Guiness too. Definitely recommend 👌
Gareth M — Google review
Went in for Sunday Lunch/Dinner. The head honcho behind the bar is a splendid chap, supported by staff operating at the highest level. While the beer selection is the usual Keswick standard (low) there were a couple of beverages that proved adequate and better than the other pubs in the town. The food however was on another level: quickly served, piping hot, and truly delicious. Go here to eat and you will be satiated.

Had dinner at The Round in Keswick on a Friday night and it was amazing, well worth the que! The burgers were so good, the loaded fries and nachos were delicious, and there were loads of great veggie options too. The service was super friendly and the vibe was spot on. Definitely a must-visit if you’re in Keswick — we’ll be back for sure! 🍔🍟🍺

Love this place! We come here for dinner on every visit to the lakes. I always look forward to seeing what the special will be. Italian restaurant
Pizza restaurant
Casa Bella is a versatile establishment that combines an Italian restaurant, ice cream shop, and coffee bar all in one. The head pan wrangler, Guini Murtaza, infuses his passion for Italian cuisine into the menu which features a mix of traditional classics and daily specials. From Arancini di Riso to Seafood Pomodore and Tuscan Pork, the dishes aim to evoke thoughts of warmer climates.
I had the lamb dish. When I first saw it, I was disappointed. It didn't look like much food and the sear looked poor. But the lamb tasted very delicious. The lamby flavour was very subtle and otherwise tasted like a very tender steak. The wine reduction was a great accompaniment. The potatoes were not bad and the veg were fine but could have been spruced up with more salt and butter. The chips were very hot and crisp and another highlight. For the dessert I had a sticky toffee pudding with the homemade ice cream. The ice cream was very good. The sticky toffee pudding seemed to have been microwaved, which was OK. It was soft, hot and taste like toffee, with a salty sauce on and around it. It was good until it cooled down and became hard, as things do when they're microwaved.
Asher — Google review
We went here in May and we needed a reservation. The restaurant and staff were lovely. Unfortunately there was an issue due to which we didn’t get our food for a really long time but the staff did apologize and compensated us for our drinks. The downside was that we got delayed with our own plans for the evening. The 4 stars is for our own experience however in general I can’t fault the restaurant itself. The food and vibe was great and we would definitely recommend it to anyone in the area!
Valerie C — Google review
Very lovely food and good service. My partner is coeliac and had so many gluten free options. The gluten free pasta and garlic bread was very good, couldn't tell the difference mich between my own normal pasta. I'd highly recommend Casa Bella.
Lewis B — Google review
Wow!! The food was delicious! Good quality ingredients and well prepared!! The service was fantastic! Friendly, attentive and very professional! The restaurant itself was really lovely and the gelato is to die for. Other establishments take heed!! I would revisit the Lakes just For this place.
Ian P — Google review
Not a clue why this place has >4 stars. Sham Italian Restaurant serving frozen pizzas. Definitely a frozen pizza bc #1 the crust is awful, #2 its shredded cheese. You can see the strands of shredded cheese on the edge of the pizza. I had a peek at all the other pizza flavours other tables had ordered and they were the EXACT SAME frozen pizza base with some added topping. The Lamb Ragu with Linguine was the special of the day and set us back TWENTY POUNDS ????. Which would have been fine if it was good, but I've cooked better ragu in my uni kitchen than this. Flavour was completely flat, lamb was dry and tough, and there were a total of 3 carrot ends that were left in the ragu and actually served to us! Not to mention the random whole bulbs of pearl onion. Lazy cooks are not necessarily bad cooks, but this was both lazy and bad. The cheese they gave us to add on top of the ragu was the powdered(?) grainy kind you get at fast food restaurants. Staff were lovely though. Also this place is always packed for some reason and we had to make a reservation a day in advance. Anyone trying to take your partner here for a date, there is better food 3 minutes away at the Wetherspoons.
Emma — Google review
Absolutely beautiful food here, came here last year and this year for my birthday. On both occasions we have visited we have thoroughly enjoyed the meals, the staff members have been great/lovely and the clean restaurant. A staff member even took our photo for us happily and food arrived in great time. I cannot find the photos of the meal but we had a delicious bolognese and another pasta dish
Lucie A — Google review
Smashing place to eat in Keswick. Good range of dishes, specials and pizzas all at reasonable prices. Pleasant surroundings. No loud background music so you can converse easily. [Why is it called "background" when it is so intrusive you can't hear to think let alone speak?] Anyway, none of that!
Stuart W — Google review
We’d had a hell of a day and just wanted somewhere to eat, and we were so glad we picked this place. The food was like heaven and we both thoroughly enjoyed it - still haven’t stopped thinking about it. We were struggling to decide what we wanted from the menu and the staff were kind, patient, and suggested some things off the menu. The lamb and sea bass is what we went for and both were delicious and beautifully cooked. Incredible flavours in both. Best potatoes either of us have had in a long time! And the veggies were cooked to perfection. Then for dessert we had the cheesecake of the day (raspberry and white chocolate) and gelato. Again, phenomenal taste - so creamy and delicious, beautifully presented! Can’t wait to eat here again one day (hopefully soon). Found a true gem in Keswick with this place!

The Square Orange Café, affectionately known as "The Squorange," is a cozy bar and eatery located in the heart of Keswick. This quirky little café offers a variety of options including Roman-style stone-baked pizzas, European-inspired tapas, and tasty nachos. They also have a wide selection of vegan options available. The café features guest wines from family-run vineyards, beer from local microbreweries, and coffee from Cumbrian roasters.
A lovely cafe in the centre of town. Exceptionally friendly staff who made sure we were looked after while we waited for our table. Food was equally good, particularly as it was prepared and cooked in the smallest kitchen I’ve ever seen. Would definitely eat there again.

Visited twice in two days. We had coffee and the most amazing lemon and raspberry blondies then went back for pizza the next night. The pizzas were some of the best we’ve ever eaten. Really recommend no 8 and 12 as well as the nachos.

A great little cafe that is full of surprises. Didn't expect to find great pizza or tasty nachos. We started with coffee and cake, food orders are taken from 12pm. After that we ordered lunch, service was polite, and the food was very good indeed. What was fascinating is that the kitchen is one oven by the bar, and the chef is able to do his magic well in this tiny space. It does get busy so go early. The name has an interesting history, so ask. As a strange combination of bar, coffee shop, pizzeria and tapas, it works really well.
The S — Google review
Est. 1998, this venue has stood the test of time for good reason. Its exquisite aesthetic is the perfect mix of charm & welcome! A very well thought out menu of tapas, pizza and deserts includes a lots of vegan options. Staff are dedicated and v friendly. There’s limited seating that can’t be booked in advance, so arrive before 1230 to avoid disappointment!

Amazing food! The wait times can be a while, but if you get there on a good day you may only have to wait 30 mins. Despite the wait, the place is fantastic. We loved it so much that we had dinner there twice. Great atmosphere and delicious food!

This restaurant is (probably) the best restaurant in the entirety of Keswick. A warm and friendly dining atmosphere, great tasting food, and best of all, you don’t need a bank loan to be able to afford it. Very reasonably priced for the quality. I would highly recommend visiting to anyone who’s in the area. The pizzas are especially very good.

This place is one of those restaurants that does everything right. Attentive service from the barman to the waitress. Specialty Museums
The Derwent Pencil Museum, established in 1981, is a charming destination that delves into the rich history of pencil production. Situated in Keswick within the picturesque Lake District, this quirky museum offers an array of attractions for visitors of all ages. Upon entering through a replica graphite mine, guests are taken on a journey through time to explore the evolution of pencils from their modest origins to contemporary manufacturing processes.
This museum is a fascinating insight into the making of the first pencils. Pencils were even used in WW2 for special purposes. You will absolutely love it. The staff are all amazing and friendly. At the end is a wonderful cafe? Great museum for kids too, lots for them to do. I highly recommend it with 5 stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Chris B — Google review
Heard about this from a friend and originally thought I was having my leg pulled. Surely there couldn't be an entire museum dedicated solely to the humble pencil? How wrong was I! This is the real deal and a seriously good trip out for children and adults alike. Takes you on a journey through the history of pencils, from beginning as a lump of graphite wrapped in leather used by shepherds to mark their sheep (see I really was paying attention), right up to the present day and the seemingly endless range of artists pencils now available. The addition of a quiz sheet for everyone even the adults seemed a bit odd at first. But it was an absolute genius move that compelled everyone to engage with the exhibits in search of answers. I don't think I saw anybody not frantically scribbling down answers with the pencil that doubled as their entry ticket. No spoilers but the last question will properly test your pencil skills. World longest (and I would guess largest) pencil, and a collection of micro pencil sculptures are other highlights. My only disappointment here was that they had sold out of the replica wartime map and compass pencil. A fascinating item that made a genuine and important contribution to our own history. If you are visiting Keswick purely for the museum then use the on site parking. It is slightly cheaper than the in town option. The museum does get busy and there was barely any elbow room as people gathered around some of the exhibits, so you need to be prepared to share a bit of personal space. But if you are okay with that then there really is every reason to recommend a visit.
Mark D — Google review
The Pencil Museum in Keswick is small but full of charm. It takes you through the history of the pencil, from the discovery of graphite in the Lake District to how pencils are made today. There are interesting displays, including one of the world’s largest pencils, and stories about pencils used in wartime. It’s not a huge place, but it’s fun and a bit quirky, especially if you like local history. There’s also a nice café and a shop with quality pencils and art supplies. A pleasant visit, especially on a rainy day in the Lakes.
Ehab Z — Google review
I'd bookmarked this as a place to go on our holiday in The Lakes, and I am glad I did. It is a small museum, but worth a visit. I really liked how at the beginning they give you a quiz to take round with you to win a prize at the end - it's a great way to get everyone engaged in the visit and really making the best of all the information and history that is there. Your entry ticket is also in the form of a pencil, which is a fabulous idea. Really friendly staff and a great place. Perfect stop for a rainy day, or if you have an hour spare.
Charlotte S — Google review
A small but interesting museum exploring the history of pencil manufacturing in the local area. The factory making pencils is behind the museum and still manufactures them today. The museum staff were very friendly and gave us pencils as an entry ticket together with a quiz to complete as we went around the museum. Well worth a visit but doesn't take long to look around. There is also a small cafe and toilets at the museum.

A small, themed museum in the traditional museum style of exhibits and information panels. There was not a lot of interactivity for children. However there was an excellent quiz, and some area for colouring sheets and using pencil and drawing skills. The museum plots the history of pencil making from the 16th century, originally in this Lakeland area. It’s informative and interesting, with some quirky exhibits like a secret agent’s pencil with hidden map and compass. The staff are very welcoming and friendly. There’s a small cafe (although it was understaffed to the point of having reduced menu - no food only cakes, when we were there. ♿️The museum is all on one level and easily accessible throughout. Very reasonably priced, with a free pencil and quiz sheet (with a prize) on admission.

Sweet museum telling the story of Derwent Pencils. Aimed squarely at families, as a solo visitor it didn’t hold a lot of appeal to me. I entered for free with a Museums Association membership, so nothing lost, but I probably wouldn’t pay for entry. Very nice staff though! Would love to see a tour or access made available for the stunning modernist building next door, although looks like it might not have much link to the company anymore.

A little museum more interesting than it seems. Dedicated paid disabled bays. Automatically doors. Wheelchair access inside the museum was OK but busy with people doing the quizzes. You get a free pencil which was a nice surprise. The history of the WWII secret pencil was fascinating. There is the Guinness book of records for the longest pencil. Gift shop and cafe located inside. Disabled loo was outside.

The Theatre By The Lake is a Cumbrian community hub located on the shores of Derwentwater, offering contemporary theatre experiences with two stages catering to both large and intimate audiences. It hosts a diverse range of productions, including new and classic works, touring shows, musicals, comedies, outdoor festivals, and screenings. The theater is known for its family-friendly atmosphere and wheelchair- and dementia-friendly facilities.
We saw Di and Viv and Rose at Theatre by the Lake and it was one of the best theatre performances I’ve ever seen. The stage is set in the round, which means everyone gets a great view and very different to more traditional theatres. The cast was phenomenal. The story had me both laughing and crying. It’s funny, heartfelt, and beautifully performed. The staff at the theatre were absolutely lovely - so helpful and welcoming, they really added to the whole experience. We had such a great night out and if i ever visit Keswick again, i'll definitely be going to the theatre again.

Saw Di and Viv and Rose. Fantastic piece of theatre in a brilliant setting. Love this theatre. I have been several times when visiting Keswick and it never disappoints.

My husband, toddler and I spontaneously stopped by while on a trip to the lake. Although 2 hours and 30 mins of Pride and Prejudice (and so brilliantly performed) isn’t an ideal activity for a toddler to sit through, the staff were incredibly accommodating and inviting. An anxiety inducing turned into a memorable experience.

Fabby-tantasssstic. As a star war fan, who can take,or leave Pride&Prejudice. Wife bought a family of 4 to watch the show.. I can honestly say it was AAAAMAZING. As well as i surrounded theatre which have never experienced, all the actors and show was 1st class , would def go watch again.

We went to see Pride & Prejudice last night - two adults and two kids (10 and 13). A really tremendous, cosy and intimate theatre and setup. We all really enjoyed it. Great performances, innovative production. A real gem of a venue in an incredible location. Do go if you can.

Brilliant little theatre where we watched a play in the round. Theatre can be reconfigured to accommodate regular tiered seating. 'Relaxed screenings' take place occasionally to accomodate people with special requirements e.g. BSL, and for those with ADHD, autism, visual impairment etc. Great to walk straight out of the place and stroll on Derwentwater. Cafe and refreshments also available.

We stopped in for lunch as a mixed party, 2 adults, 2 children and an elderly disabled member. Set up was fine to allow us to easily get a table that was suitable. We had to clear and clean the table and seats ourselves. Seats and table were acceptable, but did feel a bit "school cafeteria style". Food was decent, although not good at the prices. They were having a number of technical issues which meant a fair old wait to be served at the tills.

Bar eS Keswick is a hidden gem located in the back streets of Keswick, offering a vibrant and rustic atmosphere with Mexican and Spanish tapas, craft beer, and tequila. The bar's quirky decor and friendly staff create a welcoming environment where visitors can enjoy an ever-changing menu featuring mouth-watering softshell tacos, spicy meatballs, chimichurri chicken drumsticks, and an impressive selection of vegan dishes.
Fantastic bar and restaurant. I would recommend. But, would advise to book in advance. Summer season barely has begun and they are having to turn people away, such is the popularity of this awesome tapas bar. Would recommend trying a selection of the small plates that pairs well with the carefully selected wine list.

Amazing!!! Really pleased we managed to get a table here. The food was so good, the service was brilliant, definitely recommend, and we will be back.

We were absolutely delighted to find Bar es in Keswick after having such a wonderful dinner at their Ambleside location. Our craving for their signature fresh-squeezed margaritas and delicious Mexican food was perfectly satisfied, as we found the quality of both the food and service to be consistently excellent between the two restaurants. The menu is designed for a shared tapas experience, and we followed the recommendation to order four to five items per couple. Each dish was made for sharing, which allowed us to try a variety of fantastic flavors. It's also worth noting that they offer a daily special dish off the main menu, which is well worth ordering. We left with our hunger completely satisfied and our taste buds happy. I highly recommend making a reservation, as this popular spot is tucked away on a quiet side street and can fill up quickly!

The best Mexican food I’ve ever had! The atmosphere was warm and inviting, and every dish was absolutely delicious. I’ll definitely be coming back!
Hannah M — Google review
The food as usual was extremely tasty. As always, we ate too much! This time we sat upstairs, which didn't have as much atmosphere as last time when we sat in the bar area to eat - possibly because there were lots of lights on upstairs. The staff were very helpful and attentive and food was served quickly. Drinks took a little longer to arrive, with a couple of reminders needed for the carafe of water.

We loved our food here- everything was full of flavour and fresh. The chicken tacos were my favourite but I would happily eat everything again- meatballs, chicken drumsticks, patatas bravas and the guac were all great. Good drinks options too and the service was really quick.

Food was lovely and the service was amazing, really friendly staff! We had a large number of vegans with us and they had a separate vegan menu and it was all really good! We will be coming back.

This is a lovely little bar, tucked away in a side street in Keswick. The staff were really friendly and welcoming and we booked for 5 pm when we knew it would be quieter. The food is a mix of Spanish & Mexican eg padron peppers & chipotle mushroom soft tacos. It’s also tapas style but the servings are quite substantial. The only negative was that the tostadas were old and hard to chew! Otherwise it was a lovely meal and as it was my wife’s birthday they brought her a scoop of ice cream with a candle in it which was a nice touch!

Fellpack is a warm and inviting cafe that has been serving all-in-one meals and hearty comfort food since 2017. The restaurant has expanded to open The Round and moved to a larger premises, reflecting the demand for its innovative dining options in Keswick. The menu offers a variety of dishes, including lamb dhansak, Cumbrian beef ragu, and vegan teriyaki seitan steak. The cozy atmosphere is complemented by welcoming staff who are passionate about their work.
Probably the best place I’ve had a meal at in a long time from a point of view of every element. It was the perfect meal! The food was super delicious - their menu is super diverse so you might have a tough time choosing a dish for yourself. I went with the chicken tarragon and pork belly bites and gosh they were just perfect. The most tender piece of meat probably I’ve had! Coming to the stars of the place I.e. their staff - they’re just too nice! And not like “nice” you see in other restaurants. They talk to you like “normal people” and not their “guests”. Definitely recommend it to everyone visiting Keswick!

Came here twice over 2 days, really lovely and satisfying meals, their breakfast was nice and filling ahead of a day's hike, especially the breakfast bap! The burrito bowl and mac n cheese we had for lunch the following day were lovely as well, and the banana bread was not too sweet. Mixed opinion on the ice cream though, which tasted a bit like frozen yoghurt. Staff were super friendly and helpful, and the place is comfortable to sit in :)

Stopped off here this afternoon for a late lunch and the food and drink was excellent. I had the special of Tarragon chicken on the menu and the Session IPA on draft which was flavourful and refreshing. Service was excellent with friendly and helpful staff. Food and drink were served quickly. Really good food quality and really tasty.

Very cool and trendy place with full bar. Booking is highly recommended. They also have rooms but we didn’t stay here. There is public parking (pay and display) just a short walk away. Stay was very friendly. They are dog friendly so our dog was very welcomed.

Honestly one of the best meals we’ve ever eaten. The pork belly was so tender it fell apart. The sausage pasta melted in the mouth. The whipped feta was so creamy and balanced and the brownie was to die for. Not to mention the twist on the passionfruit martini was chefs kiss (and strong!). Could not recommend more. The servers were so lovely and friendly. I was spoilt for choice as everything sounded so lovely and our waitress helped me choose the most outstanding courses. Will be coming back!!!

A great place for food and drink. The cocktails were excellent as was the food and service! Will definitely be back
Jamie S — Google review
We chose Fellpack for our penultimate dinner of the trip—but unfortunately, it was a disappointment. The food was good…not the best but we enjoyed our dishes (shrimp curry and the lamb with a dark chocolate dessert with orange liqueur). When we arrived, we were seated next to a large birthday party. The group was loudly playing games, shouting, and completely overtaking the atmosphere. It was so loud we could barely hear each other speak. All of the surrounding tables—mostly couples—looked equally uncomfortable, but no one said anything, perhaps assuming the staff would step in. When we quietly mentioned it to our waitress, we were surprised to learn that two of the guests at the table actually work at the restaurant. No apology, no acknowledgment—just an incredibly loud and awkward evening. Fellpack missed the mark on hospitality and atmosphere.
Kelly B — Google review
My husband and I enjoyed a lovely meal at The Fellpack for a special birthday. The menu is limited but it suited us perfectly. Both our 'Fellpot' dishes and desserts were full of flavour, as were the cocktails which we had a treat. The atmosphere is contemporary but cosy, the staff were very attentive (one of us is coeliac) and friendly. Portion sizes could be a tiny bit larger. But overall we would definitely return!

With its collection of draught ales and locally sourced dishes, this historic inn offers a warm and welcoming atmosphere for both locals and tourists.

We ended up at this restaurant by accident — we checked the menu and decided to give it a try. I'm allergic to many things, so I was really happy to find food I could eat, and they also had vegan options 🙏🏻 I ordered the Vegan Curry with wild rice and gluten-free pita. It was the BEST VEGAN CURRY I've ever had — perfectly spicy, the flavors were beautifully balanced, and the texture was AMAZING. Absolutely delicious. I wanted to order the Vegan Curry to go, but unfortunately, they didn’t have any takeout containers 😟 The next dish was a large salad bowl with grilled chicken. It had cabbage in it (my husband said it was delicious, but I don’t eat cabbage). The salad was simple but tasty — I enjoy simplicity on a plate. The chicken was a bit dry and slightly too salty. But overall, I was really happy with my dish — it pleasantly surprised me and tasted great. My husband ordered a soup, which was supposed to be with leek and parmesan, but it turned out to be broccoli cream soup instead. It came with a bread roll and he really enjoyed it. For his main dish, he ordered stewed beef in some kind of sauce with potatoes. The beef pulled apart perfectly — it was super tender, soft in flavor, and not starchy at all. My husband eats a lot of beef and really knows when it's done well vs. when it’s tough — and this one was EXCELLENT. The potatoes had horseradish which added a great touch, and together with the rest of the dish, it was a true taste sensation. The only downside: they served margarine instead of butter. MARGARINE IS UNHEALTHY — it should be real butter. Overall, we highly recommend this place. I left satisfied, full, and without any allergic reaction. Everything was fresh, well-prepared, not burnt, and not greasy. Fantastic food — we hope they never change the quality. The ladies behind the bar could be a little friendlier. The young man delivering the food was very nice. The interior has a traditional English style. WE RECOMMEND THIS PLACE FOR THE FOOD – TOTALLY WORTH IT. 10/10

Place was nice, as were the staff. Main meals were quite good, though we found the soup of the day (Cauliflower and Parmesan) to be rather bland and watery in taste, very disappointing overall, and the chips whilst nice and chunky were ok, but weren't as good as we've had elsewhere in the region on our trip, or Keswick itself for that matter. We did find that this place had room for us though for dinner, add it's much bigger inside than other Pubs in the immediate area.
Matt B — Google review
This is a great pub with a brilliant menu. Not only that, the quality of food is excellent. Is real attention to detail with healthy mix of classic pub food and something a little different too. Service was amazing, very friendly staff made us feel welcome and catered to our every need from start to finish. I will definitely be returning to this pub next time I come to Keswick. I would recommend it to anyone who wants a hearty meal after a long day of walking.

Really enjoyed my visit here. The staff were friendly, welcoming, and very attentive throughout, which made the whole experience even better. The food was absolutely delicious—proper hearty pub fare done really well. The beef cobbler in particular was a standout, rich and comforting, and definitely something I’d recommend to anyone visiting. A lovely spot that I’d be more than happy to come back to.
Tammy W — Google review
Came here after being basically ignored somewhere else around the corner and glad we did. Found an absolute gem. Instantly felt warm and welcome, despite the place being mostly empty at first (a shame!) The food was delicious and you get a fair amount too! It also won’t empty your wallet, definitely fairly priced. The beef (both braised and on the pie) melted in your mouth, the gammon was also very tasty. We will hopefully be returning. The haggis & black pudding starter (although not for everyone, of course) was also very nice. I highly recommend stopping in for a bite to eat and a drink. Also very friendly to furry friends although your experience may vary depending on quality of the canine company!

Came in for a steak and a pint, the food was the usual run of the mill flavourless chain pub microwave type food you’d get in weatherspoons. The staff were very friendly however the general service and atmosphere was very much that of a chain pub. Disappointing given its location in Keswick. If you want high quality food, look elsewhere.

The Wainwright Pub in Keswick is a top contender for The Great Outdoors Pub of the Year, known for its social atmosphere and wide selection of Cumbrian ales. It's a family and dog-friendly establishment that welcomes walkers, cyclists, and locals. Recognized as one of the UK's best walking pubs, it's an ideal stop after exploring the rugged mountains and wild landscapes of the Lake District. This cozy pub has also been acknowledged for its exceptional service and delicious food.
Great food at very reasonable prices. We ordered one adult Sunday pork dinner and one beef childrens dinner with a pint of lemonade and it only came to £25.00. The portion sizes were large and the food itself was fantastic. Will definitely be returning on our next visit to Keswick.

Popped in for a drink and a bite to eat. Had the pooch with us and we just wanted a spacious area which wasn’t manic. We have visited many places in Keswick and this was the first time in here. A traditional English pub, nothing flash but provided what we needed. Would return due to the fact it doesn’t pretend to be something it’s not and other pubs are a bit chaotic once inside, dog friendly.

Read reviews and decided to try this for lunch. We were the only people in the restaurant and at first we were a little unsure. However the restaurant is beautifully decorated and we thoroughly enjoyed our food. I had the crispy duck salad and my husband had the sticky pork belly and we shared some sriracha fries. All the food was bursting with flavour, very very tasty. If in doubt just try it, you won’t be disappointed, we will certainly be back.

Five Stars for Flavor, Service, and Vibe We’ve been slow traveling for almost a year now — with a full month in England — and this might be the best service we’ve had. Rosie was warm, attentive, and charming, with genuinely helpful recommendations that made the whole night feel like a treat. The Heat Wave cocktail might be my favorite ever: think a grown-up Sour Patch Kid with a whisper of watermelon leather dancing on top. Nigel had a vodka tonic that was perfectly balanced — a little sweet, a little spicy, just right. Dinner didn’t disappoint. I had the seabass — light, perfectly cooked, and elegantly simple. Nigel went for the burger with sriracha fries, which he’s still talking about. Not light, but absolutely worth it. From the skilled barmen to the well-crafted ambiance, Derwent Walker nails it. We’re only in town for five days — and we’re already planning to come back. Well done 👏

Popped in as a walk-in whilst visiting the Lakes and was massively impressed. The upstairs restaurant was well laid out so that you’re not on top of each other and can enjoy a great meal without hearing the conversations of everyone around you. The tapas plates are a good size, the halloumi sliders (with fries) are delicious with the chilli jam and toasted brioche bun. With this, the beer and bacon mac & cheese was, again, delicious (recommend dunking a few fries in the sauce). The larger plates are a perfect size to have with a small plate on the side, as our server Grace recommended. The steak option was incredible, with perfectly seasoned potatoes and asparagus. However, the Tuscan chicken was the dish of the night. My wife said that it was the best pasta she has ever tasted and the little bit she left had loads of chicken and tomatoes. My wife also had a mocktail which was, in her words, “refreshingly delicious”. On the whole, it was pricey but was a brilliant evening and I shall be trying to recreate the food at home because it was so good.

Tucked away on Lake Road, The Pocket Cafe Bar is a cozy spot with large street-facing windows and a bustling atmosphere. The open kitchen serves up delicious sourdough pizzas while the bar offers a variety of local beers, Belgian and German brews, and Cumbrian gins. Live music sessions are a regular feature here, with open mic nights on Mondays and live gigs on Fridays.
We found this little treasure whilst taking a day trip to keswick today. Lovely surroundings and a great vibe, the food options all sounded good and we opted for two of the pizzas. We visited here following a recommendation but unfortunately left disappointed. The place is rather tired looking. Possibly going for the 'rustic' look but it's just shabby and if I am honest a bit grubby. The bar man wasn't very friendly so didn't feel particularly welcome. Ordered 2 margarita pizzas. Very thin pizza base which to be fair was nice but there was very little if any tomato sauce so quite dry. Sadly wouldn't be returning on our next visit to Keswick.

We went there for food but it is a bar as well . What attracted us was some nice sounding salads with hummus. They turned out to be delicious. This was great as the majority of eating places in the town seemed to serve very traditional fare and not that many with salads(we looked at quote a lot of places as wandered around). Prices were very reasonable.

Friars Crag is a picturesque promontory that extends into Derwentwater, offering stunning views of the surrounding landscape. This area holds historical significance as it was the first part of the Lake District to be owned by the National Trust. A leisurely stroll along the lakeside will lead you past memorials to notable figures and provide an ideal setting for stargazing on clear summer nights.
Beautiful viewing spot. Easy walk that takes you past the theatre & jetty area. We went early evening & it was fairly busy, particularly as there were a couple of school groups (that were very pleasant & well behaved :) ). Still plenty of space to take in the views though & it's definitely worth the extra 10 minute walk from the jetty area to go see it

Walked down to Friars Crag from Keswick town centre a very easy walk which took all of about ten minutes could have been longer if we had done a bit of window shopping 🛍 😀. Lovely area and packed plenty boating 🚢 activities and crazy 🤪 golf ⛳️ in the park.

Beautiful scenic area, very easy to get to, with some nice pubs/restaurants in the area. Great little spot to take photos, as the clouds were moving in you could see them coming across the fells which looked fantastic. Little one loved it also as lots of ducks, swans, geese & seagulls that like to be fed so that was also fun. Would recommend checking it out & id definitely go again.

Friar’s Crag is one of those places we absolutely love, and we’ve honestly lost count of how many times we’ve visited. It’s such a peaceful spot where time seems to stand still. The views over Derwentwater and towards Catbells are absolutely amazing, no matter what the weather’s doing. It’s only a short, easy walk from the car park, but it feels a world away from everything. This delightful establishment stands out for its commitment to offering reasonably priced meals and drinks, making it a favorite among both locals and visitors. With dishes typically ranging from £5 to £8, you can indulge in hearty fare without breaking the bank. The pub features a lovely covered beer garden, perfect for enjoying a refreshing pint or two while soaking up the stunning surroundings.
Dropped in with our greyhounds by chance and warmly greeted as dog friendly and sit where you want. Great atmosphere and friendly staff, good beer choices and food was decently priced and good serving. Would recommend and will call again.

Called into the Oddfellows arms or lunch on a busy afternoon in Keswick. We were lucky enough to get a table, we ordered food at bar and it came fairly quickly. Food was ok as were the drinks. Our only complaint was tables were a mess and weren’t cleaned otherwise all was ok

Called in today for a drink and some food . Went to the bar to order food and was told by the lady with the green hair that the kitchen was shut … No problem 👍 I went back to the bar a short time after for another drink , I said to the same lady ‘ bit of a strange time to stop serving food ‘ She replied the chef is on his break Ok why didn’t you say that in the first place ? so kitchen is not shut ? She replied yes because he’s on his break If someone says the kitchen is shut ! Then to me that means it’s finished 🤦 she had no interest in explaining how long . I wasn’t in a rush for food . I will say she was very rude to me . Overall the place was nice and the beer was fine . Decency and common sense costs nothing

Brilliant. Accommodated our large group. Motorcycle parking at rear - a real bonus in Keswick. Portion sizes just right for lunch and a very acceptable price. I would book again.

Good, spacious pub with a traditional feel and just a short walk from the nearby campsite. The food was great and there was lots of choice on the menu. There are a few local ales on tap and other beers to choose from. Staff were very friendly and there was a good atmosphere when we went as it was quite busy with visitors and locals. I can recommend the curry and would definitely go again to try some more dishes!

We really enjoyed the visit. Ic and Flic noted this is a more affordable option compared to many of the local pubs and hotels. A very welcoming staff. Had a Wainwright Amber. Excellent. Large rear beer patio. Boss had a coffee plus a sherry trifle cheesecake. She loved it. More basic than many but that is a plus!

Curious little pub in a very tourist town. Good local ales (wainwright) and big food portions. Really quick food if you are on a tight timetable. Had the chicken and bacon club sandwich with fresh cooked chips. Enough for two people. Jim, the landlord, is such a nice fella really welcoming. Definitely would go back

We ordered steaks. And they came completely raw on the top, where cooked it was fine. But there were patches left utterly raw.

Keswick Market, a historic and lively market nestled in the heart of Keswick town, has been a focal point of activity for centuries. Dating back to the 13th century, it continues to draw locals and visitors alike. The market operates on Saturdays and Thursdays, offering an array of goods including fresh produce, homemade pies, cheese, baked goods, and Indian cuisine. The Saturday street market boasts numerous stalls selling diverse items such as clothing, food, and gifts.
Enjoyed wandering around this traditional outdoor market. It stretches along Keswick's main street on both sides of the historic Moot Hall on Thursdays and Saturdays between 9am and 4.30pm. I came on a Thursday, when it was busy but not uncomfortably crowded. Liked the fact that this area is pedestrianised too. There's a wide variety of stalls, ranging from everyday items such as clothing, leather goods, household linens and tools, to beautiful and unusual Lakeland crafts including wood carving, jewellery and slate ornaments. One stallholder was hand painting wildlife images on feathers. Some of the merchandise was expensive, but the craftsmanship looked of a high standard. Some really good food stalls too. I especially loved the cheeses, honey and homemade preserves. The stallholders were very friendly. Lots of cafes, pubs and nice little independent shops around the market.

On a welding in Keswick , it was market day & who can resist a quick walk around a market . Well, 3 welders can't , it's fairly large with a diverse selection of stalls , my personal favourite was the jam man , see pics , having returned home I can categorically say = delicious jams , thank you Jam Man xx

I love keswick market. Such a lovely high street with plenty of variety. There's some lovely bakeries and shops with some unique items which I love! My son loves going here every year when we visit to feed the pigeons. We visited a couple of shops this year which id highly recommend which is the Lucy Pittaway gallery, they had some lovely items & also the 'alternative' shop. That's my favourite shop in the whole place as they always have great stuff & beautiful gifts.

Incredible amount if stalls plying different items. Mrsp & me went to Keswick market (08/11/25). Couldn't get enough of 'Pie Demand'!. Bought 2x Cheese, Onion & Chive. 2 x Scitch beef, 2 x Meat & Potato Pasties & 2 x Chicken & Mushroom Pies. Got home & Mrs P had the Cheese & Onion & I the Meat & Potato pasty. Seriously filled & seriously tasty. £22.00 for 8 x Pies....well worth the price. These are filled to the brim & taste fresh. Market stalls are clearly the best place to buy local produce. Yes they may be slightly more expensive but there's a valid reason for this...they're100% proper Pies. 'Pie Demand'...you won't regret it!!! 10/10. 👍

The George Hotel, the oldest coaching inn in Keswick, is a traditional 17th-century establishment offering free breakfast and regional dining. The mock-Gothic castle was built in 1840 and is now owned by the National Trust. Its lakeside grounds are stunning and were once a holiday home for Beatrix Potter's family. Visitors can arrive by boat from Bowness due to limited parking.
We had a lovely dinner here. The restaurant was full so ate in the bar. We were told there was a 90 minute wait but that was fine, we ordered drinks. In fact the food arrived in 30 minutes and it was delicious. We always support businesses that offer Blue Light discount. It was so good that we returned on Sunday at 7.45pm but unfortunately they had stopped serving food despite their website stating Food Service times 9am to 11pm every day. Our fault for not booking and would still recommend. Great service from the jolly chap behind the bar.
James D — Google review
Poor quality food cooked by poor quality kitchen staff. This establishment seems to have fallen off a cliff in almost every aspect of its customer service with rude and unwelcoming staff, Bland tasteless foods, it no longer fells like a traditional lake district pub. Quality chefs are what is needed to bring the menu up to scratch with the competition in Keswick town centre as this establishment is bottom of the league yet only 5 or 6 years ago it was operating at a high standard

Castlerigg Stone Circle, an English Heritage site, is believed to be around 5000 years old and offers stunning panoramic views. This Neolithic stone circle, possibly one of the oldest in Britain, consists of 38 large stones with a dramatic mountainous backdrop. While its purpose remains a mystery, some speculate that the stone placement may have had astrological significance.
Upon stepping through the fence, an immediate sense of peace and spaciousness washed over me. Something in the air felt different — as if it carried a quiet pull, connecting me not just to the mountains and fields, but to the animals, the wind, and perhaps even something greater, something beyond. The kids ran free for nearly an hour — climbing, tagging, laughing — while I utterly absorbed in the vast embrace of the surrounding peaks. As the sun dipped low, its golden light spilled over the landscape, turning every stone and blade of grass into something sacred. If you’re seeking a spiritual experience, this is the place to be. On a weekday around 6 p.m., parking was easy, the crowd sparse, and for a brief, perfect moment, we had the entire space to ourselves. In that stillness, the world felt both endless and intimate.

It's free which is always a plus and it was lovely to visit. The view is lovely but we went on a day where the weather turned so it was largely grey and rainy, but still very atmospheric. It's not far at all to the local town as well as the nearby lake. There were quote a few people visiting at the same time but just waiting about 10 minutes and they dispersed so we got some pictures without groups of people in them.

Castlerigg Stone Circle – A Mystical Gem of the Lake District! Castlerigg Stone Circle is one of the most atmospheric and awe-inspiring places in the Lake District — a site that beautifully blends ancient history, mystery, and natural beauty. Perched on a hilltop surrounded by breathtaking views of the mountains, this prehistoric stone circle is believed to date back more than 4,000 years, making it one of the oldest in Britain. Standing among the stones, you can truly feel the sense of timelessness and connection to the past that makes this place so special. The panoramic views from Castlerigg are absolutely stunning — the circle is set against a backdrop of Helvellyn, Blencathra, and other Lakeland fells, creating a magical atmosphere, especially during sunrise or sunset. It’s a peaceful, open site with no entry fee, easy to reach by car, and only a short walk from the parking area, making it accessible for visitors of all ages. What makes Castlerigg so memorable is its simplicity — just nature, history, and pure serenity. The site isn’t commercialized, allowing visitors to experience the raw beauty and mystery of the stones without distractions. It’s an excellent spot for photography, quiet reflection, or just taking in the stunning 360° landscape. Whether you’re interested in archaeology, spirituality, or simply want to enjoy one of the most scenic viewpoints in the Lake District, Castlerigg Stone Circle is an absolute must-visit. A place that stays with you long after you leave — calm, mysterious, and endlessly beautiful. 🌄🪨✨

Castlerigg Stone Circle in Lake District is a significant monument in Lake District which is approximately from 3000 BC. It consists of 38 stones, probably kept for religious ceremonies, astronomical observations, or a social gathering place. Its situated on a hill near Keswick that was formally preserved as an ancient monuments in 1883. It's surrounded by mountains on three sides that offers breathtaking view. Visited it as part of day trip. Highly recommend a visit to this monument

This 4,500 year old World Heritage Site is a really atmospheric and intriguing site to experience ... it may be small in scale but its landscape setting is just so beautiful... even in a damp June visit it was so good! Its poorly signposted btw and we used Google maps to get there.
Gary W — Google review
Magical place with 360° views of the surrounding beauty...the stones standing proud and unfathomable....but the guide from English Heritage gave us some idea of the current theories!! Older than Stonehenge so more stories to tell but accessible and free plus lovely sheep share the field with you and the stones. There is free parking on the access road and a cafe just down the road with all the facilities you could need😋☕!! Truly a detour well worth making and really a shame to miss it if in the area🐑✨☺️xx

Interesting place, older than Stonehenge. No charges and free parking on the road(if you can find a space). Worth the visit if for no other reason but to admire the fantastic views of the mountains all around.

Woodstone Pizza & Flamegrill Keswick is a popular spot in town known for its locally sourced barbecued meats, burgers, kebabs, and stone-baked pizzas. The open-plan kitchen and stone-fired oven add to the charm of this wonderful pizza joint. Despite being busy, the friendly staff ensures a pleasant dining experience whether you're there for a quick bite or a leisurely meal.
The best pizza we’ve ever had at a very reasonable price. The staff were chatty and friendly, the atmosphere in the restaurant was great and the food was delicious. We visited on a Thursday evening mid July and were able to get a table without making a reservation. We had the veggie and bbq 9” pizzas, garlic bread and onion rings, plus drinks and there was more than enough for 2. We would 100% recommend dining here and will return on our next visit to Keswick.

Delicious pizza 🍕 and spaghetti 🍝… Good central location with nice decor and very clean toilets … The only downside is a bit pricey and slow service during peak hours … We had Chef’s special pizza and it was superb 👌🏻

Sorry to say but well below our expectations after reading the previous 4.4 star reviews. We ordered a takeaway 12" Greek veggie pizza (£16.80). The pizza base lacked the airy crisp chewy texture of a well made pizza. The crust edge was unevenly browned with scorching on one side and pale on the other edge. Flavour was bland. Very disappointed.

We've been there with my family. The food was amazing. Kids really loved their pizza. We had a Margarita, a Hawaiian and a four cheese pizza (can't remember the name) and also a spinach pasta. All were delicious. Staffs were super friendly and helpful.

We booked online several weeks before we came to the Lake District as we know this is a very popular eatery. When we arrived, our table was ready for us and the server came to take our order for drinks and food after only a couple of minutes which is very good. However, she start the kitchen did manage to lose our order so we had a little bit longer to wait which rusted matter as we were having a great chat at the time. The food that did come was excellent. The pizzas were flavoursome beautifully cooked and very hot. The spaghetti Bolognese was sublime. They had a choice of chunky chips or fries both of which were lovely. We were offered a significant discount because of the extra wait we had, but we gave this as a tip to the waitress because she clearly was upset she he made the mistake and the whole team pull together to get our meal out quickly. Now the summer season is out of the way. I’m sure they’ll be more tables available earlier, but there’s usually tables available later on after 8:30 pm Will definitely go back for more pizzas and book early is my advice.
Mark H — Google review
Really enjoyed it. Food was nice. The pasta could have had more of a cheesy flavor. My brother's pizza and sisters Bolognese was spot on. Highly recommend. Service could have even a bit warmer when we walked in but overall it was really good.

Genuinely the best pepperoni pizza I’ve ever had. Staff accommodated 7 of us when I booked a table a week before. When we arrived they were friendly and efficient. Drinks came quickly and our order was taken in good time. After a short wait all our food arrived as ordered and was excellent. We will most definitely return!

We’ve been coming here for years and the food is consistently good, but the service can be slow at times. The restaurant seems to be carried by one excellent waitress/manager who is always friendly and on the ball, though the rest of the team aren’t quite as attentive. The place is always clean and tidy, and the food quality is good. It does feel expensive for what it is, though I suppose being in a tourist spot the prices are bound to be a bit inflated.

This is located right next to a large but busy car park. Luckily motorbikes don't have to pay and we found a spot for ours easily. There are also paid loos just across the car park if need be. There was plenty of outdoor seating with netting above which is meant to keep birds away. The tables weren't fully cleared but overall the setup and atmosphere were pleasant. I had some pancakes with maple syrup, they were a little sickly and I wish I had gone for the full English breakfast instead. My partner had a breakfast wrap which was quite good though.

Dinner here during our short visit to Keswick. The place is much bigger than it looks from outside! Lots of happy hungry people. Order from the bar , giving them your table number. Service is not fast, but people watching and talking as you wait are distraction enough. We had the BBQ stacker veggie burger with onion rings and dinner salad, and the food quality was good. My beer, a Hawks Head on tap, was bland and tepid. I asked for a different beer and a friendly bartender completed my request with a smile. A good place for a good meal in Keswick.

Cafe Bar 26 is a relaxed cafe and wine bar located in Keswick, offering a variety of plant-based breakfast and lunch options along with cakes and hot drinks. It has received praise for its 100% plant-based food, making it an ideal choice for vegans or those exploring vegan cuisine. Visitors have commended the polite and accommodating staff as well as the delightful and reasonably priced vegan dishes. The venue also offers a bustling yet pleasant atmosphere, making it suitable for various occasions including parties.
My wife and I are visiting Keswick and booked a table at Cafe Bar 26 mainly because we are vegan and love trying places that are plant based when we are on our travels. To say we were impressed this evening is an understatement ! The food menu has a tapas feel to it and what we had was fabulous. We made sure (for test purposes only you understand !) that we had plenty of the dishes on offer and ended up with 8 plates which included ‘meat’ balls, ‘Fish’ Goujons, Vietnamese Fries, Mock Duck Pancakes, Chick’n Nuggets, and others. They were absolutely faultless ! Tasty, plentiful and clearly lovingly prepared. We were chatting with the owner who is a lovely lady and deserves success at this brilliant place. It boats a comfortable setting inside and a great atmosphere. The staff were friendly and we will undoubtedly go back the next time we are in Keswick and suggest you don’t miss it when you are there either ! We are pretty taken with Cafe Bar 26. Can you tell ?!

Where do I start with this place? Prices: The pricing here is extortionate. As a vegan from Manchester I am used to paying a premium on vegan food. Unfortunately that is just the reality of being a vegan in 2022. But the food from Cafe Bar 26? Insanity. We were charged £3 for 2 slices of toast. I don't believe in any cafe in the world you should be charged £3 for 2 slices of toast. Mental. The breakfast sandwiches cost £6 and that was 1 muffin with 1 Linda McCartney sausage and 2 slices of This! Isn't Bacon. Not sure what dream world the owners are living in to charge this much. Food quality: The food quality overall was incredibly poor. The coffee was burnt and tasted disgusting. The breakfast sandwich was burnt and tasted really bad. The hash browns were nice, but they were just heated from frozen, so can't really complain, but they were also nothing special. The waffle was delicious, but at £9.50 for 1 it was daylight robbery. Service: The guy who waited on our table gets a 0/10 for service. He basically threw 1 menu at us despite there being 2 of us, he struggled to comprehend our order despite writing it down, mumbled the whole time so we could barely make out what he was saying and just overall lacked any sort of hospitality training. Overall it was a very disappointing experience that cost £36.60 for: 2 sandwiches, 1 waffle, 2 hashbrowns, 1 coffee and 1 lemonade. Would fully not recommend going to these guys. Save your money and go to one of the other vegan establishments that Keswick has to offer. 0/10 and only gave 1 star as that is the lowest I can give to write a review. AVOID.

Whilst roaming around Keswick looking for a place to settle me and my partner found Cafe Bar 26. At first it appeared to be just a cafe, but the place actually has guest rooms making it a great and centralised place to stay overnight. The entrance is clearly wheelchair accessible but I’m not 100% sure the rooms are. As we went for a coffee I’ll be reviewing it as a café. Bar 26 had a calm atmosphere to it which was achieved by the soft background music and friendly staff. The woman that served us was happy to chat about their varied cocktail range whilst I was ordering before we sat down by the window. We ordered coffees and later some fries. The coffee was lovely and the fries tasted great I would add they may have too much salt for some people but we loved them with what we thought was chipotle or burger sauce. The place appears to be open 9:30-11pm all week apart from Mondays so next time you find yourself in need of a coffee give them a try.

We looked all over for a cosy cocktail bar for pre-dinner drinks in Keswick as most of the watering holes are just pubs, so we were glad to find this place. It had a nice welcoming atmosphere, the staff were friendly and attentive, and the drinks were well priced. We ended up having several rounds; they did a really tasty spin on an Aperol spritz using grapefruit, which I really enjoyed, but the Hulu rum one served in a pineapple shaped glass was our favourite!

Nestled in Portinscale, just a short drive from Keswick town center, The Chalet Tearooms & Restaurant offers a cozy and relaxed atmosphere with its wooden walls and furniture. Open from 9am every day, it serves a variety of breakfast options including Full Cumbrian and Vegetarian Breakfasts, as well as butties, smashed avo toast, and American buttermilk pancakes.
After a very wet walk around Derwent water we stopped in for a light lunch at the Chalet tearoom. Great idea to put your sunflower in the bottle to get served our waitress was straight over. The wife had pulled pork with apple chutney ciabatta and I had chicken and avocado sandwich, both came quite quickly and were delicious. We will definitely be back, thank you

The Chalet Tearooms and Restaurant in Portinscale covers all bases, be that breakfast or lunch, coffee and cake or beer/wine. It has a lovely family feel with friendly staff and the food is delicious. They have seating inside/out and is dog friendly.

A good array of interesting food and beverages on offer including traditional English breakfast. Pleasant and welcoming people. Outside and inside seating. Although it wasn't busy at 11:00 am it was a bit noisy inside due, I think, to fridge coolers running. Nice place to stop for a coffee and food.

Indian restaurant
Lakeland Spice Cuisine in Keswick is a popular Indian restaurant that offers delicious and authentic Bangladeshi cuisine. The restaurant is known for its friendly staff, quick service, and great atmosphere. Customers have praised the quality of the food, particularly highlighting the flavorful lamb dishes and tasty naan bread. Despite being a small place, the restaurant's decor is well-done, adding to the overall dining experience.
First time here ordered a takeaway consisting of tikka salmon with pilau rice and a madras sauce separately. The fish was cooked to perfection it was all so delicious which is why I ate it so quickly before remembering to take a picture oops………. The staff were very polite and softly spoken. Atmosphere- The atmosphere well I was definitely the odd one out. The people eating there were lot of elderly. They all seemed depressed not one smile between them. No laughter, no joy. For a moment I thought I was at a wake. I definitely wouldn’t recommend sitting in there the energy of the people was horrible. I had to thoroughly sage my self when I got out. (Saging) using sage stick to remove negative energy from one’s aura. Price - it was a little pricey which is why I didn’t have a starter. However the quality of the food is reflected in this. Would I go again……yes just to annoy some of the trying to be snobby individuals there. I think they were a little shocked to see me. However on a positive note I ate my meal in the comfort of my lovely campervan without dull vacant eyes of the people there staring at me.

Liked this place. For a start they were open and had a table after 10pm, unlike most places in Keswick which seem to shut at 9pm. Warm welcome. Nice room. Bang out the popodoms and the beer quickly. Food good too, cooked with care.
Rico R — Google review
This is one of the best Bangladeshi Indian restaurants we have visited. The food quality was excellent and cooked to a great taste. The service was quick and the staff were very friendly. The atmosphere was great, too. They have decorated it well even though it's a small place. They serve halal meat. We had to book in advance and wait until 9.30 pm before a table was available, but it was worth the wait. Special thanks to Mansoor, who served us on that night.

I cannot explain how grateful my sister and I were for Lakeland Spice this evening! We were visiting the beautiful Keswick area for the week, and quickly realized that there were extremely limited options for a late night dinner. We walked in around 9:45pm, offering to order takeout in order to not be an inconvenience, and were instead warmly welcomed to a cozy table in the back. The food was incredible. Warm, fresh, and perfectly (and richly) spiced. I highly recommend the garlic naan, chicken tikka masala, and steamed rice. A huge thanks to the staff for their kindness and generosity of heart- you can tell this is a family-run business well worth supporting.

We enjoyed our meals here, the staff were professional and the curries spicy.

I had the naga chili curry and found it to be the perfect balance of spice and flavour. The staff were most friendly, and I would readily recommend it.

Food taste was fine and different 👌. Well decorated asian traditional designed. Photo attached only of first floor. Set of young stars as front house staff make the service good.
Rakibul H — Google review
Came here on a Friday night. We were told there would be a 15 minute wait for a table. We waited for 30 minutes and when we were eventually seated upstairs, we had walked past 5 evacuated tables downstairs. As per photo, we were seated by the main thoroughfare, next to an open fire door. My shish kebab was a brown colour, I have been eating Indian meals for the past 45 years, the shish kebabs have always been red with a yellow sauce. My Madras curry was red, again normality would suggest brown. Not happy with the total experience.

Our only complaint is I had no room for desert. Book ahead tho' as we saw several people turned away. Food and service was excellent. Portions very generous. We had kids Sunday lunch, beef top notch; fish and chips (connoisseur daughter said very good); Lamb Tagine was excellent as was the risotto. Will be going back I'm sure. Ps we even had time for one game of uno flip between ordering and eating.

Burnt pizza with a quarter missing for my daughter. Informed by staff that this is how the chef does them for children to make them smaller. Not all parts looked like they were from the same pizza and had obviously been reheated. My fish and chips were tasty but was disappointed with the size of the fish.

I had the Cumbrian Breakfast and my god was it good for value for money (see the pic). The food was good but I did struggle to finish it. Looking for a place for breakfast/brunch? Then try here!

Lovely tender roast leg of lamb served with vegetables and and pint of Jennings Cumberland Ale. One of the best roast lamb meals in Keswick. Good hearty food, a good range of draft beers all served with cheery Cumberland hospitality. Very nice.

Like many of the best places that you've eaten at, we happen on this by chance. My in-laws popped in for a drink whilst waiting for us and I spotted Seafood Risotto as a special - so booked for the evening. The surroundings are smart and tasteful, but gave no hint at how tasty the food is here. We're in Keswick for three nights and will have eaten here for two of them, so you can see it has our vote!

The Royal Oak at Keswick is an 18th-century coaching inn that offers individually designed rooms and a complimentary cooked breakfast. The pub serves hearty meals, including delicious meats and cheeses, as well as classic dishes like beer-battered fish, all accompanied by real ales. The hotel is pet-friendly, offering rooms and dining areas for guests with dogs for an additional fee. In addition to the pub's offerings, there are numerous cafes and restaurants in Keswick that welcome dogs.
Stayed for 2 nights. All staff there were very welcoming indeed. Beautiful hotel, and very cosy with a log fire in the bar and restaurant. We booked the signature room, which had everything we needed including a mini bar, kettle, bottled water and coffee machine. We didn't eat there in the evenings, but the breakfasts were exceptional! We had full cumbrian breakfast, which was completely faultless. Probably the best full breakfast we have had from the many hotels that we have stayed in. We will certainly be returning in the near future.

No booking just walked in and asked for a table for 2 and a well behaved dog. Seated within seconds, kind friendly staff. Good pub food. Had table games if you wanted to whilst you waited. Dog water bowls if needed. Overall great experience

Honestly don’t know where to start. Looked good when we were first going in so was exited. All the food sounded delicious on the menu, oh how wrong we were to be so naive. Starters took about half an hour which is not great but okay, won’t let it kill my vibe. Bur oh my GOSH, the chicken wings were advertised as salt and chili. They were literally the blandest things I’ve ever eaten, just fried and oily with NO flavour, waste of calories and a tenner. To make matters worse the mains literally took about an hour and a half to come after this, the staff were avoiding eye contact and didn’t come to see if we wanted more drinks, which I think is because they knew how long we were waiting. But I work in hospitality myself so I get that it’s not their fault of course but come on, they could have come to check on us, warned us about the wait or given us a drink on the house due to the LONG wait. And then when the ‘hot honey burger’ came, it was literally a fried chicken breast, no flavour, definitely not worth the £20 price tag. And secondly the fish was awful. I didn’t eat it. Overall the experience was bad and upsetting, not many people can afford to eat out in the current financial climate, so we really treated ourselves here because it looked really nice. I’m honestly just upset at spending precious money on it for the experience to be like that. I hope they sort it out because it looked gorgeous and one of the girls that worked there was really nice.
Kate O — Google review
Really disappointed. We used to love coming here but what the hell were they thinking with this "refurb". The main restaurant area has literally been designed to cram as many guests in as they can and they've sure done that. Horrible environment. The whole place looks dated, the bench against the walls looks like it's had some old saggy curtains thrown over it. Service not great, not the worst but paying good money to be passing people their food myself because the waiter couldn't be bothered to ask whose it was....not great. As long as the food is good then I'd let that slide. Oh no, the wings were the most blandest things I'd ever had. Greasy, messy and tasteless. Would not recommend and all and would not recommend dining here. Someone obviously decided to try and make more money by cramming customers in like cattle at the expense of the customer experience. Will be going elsewhere in future.

Another nice stay at this lovely pub. It’s been refurbished since our last stay and it’s been done very tastefully. A warm welcome on arrival and even a room upgrade which pleased my daughter no end as was her first ever hotel stay. Room was clean and spacious and the beds comfortable. Breakfast was one of the best around. Great service and a huge menu choice. All in, a great over night stay and will hopefully be back again in the near future.
Ben D — Google review
We only called in for drinks but decided to eat there after seeing the meals coming out from the kitchen. Lovely decor inside and friendly staff. I had the steak and my wife had the classic cheeseburger. Both were beautifully cooked. Highly recommended
Mark H — Google review
We had a cosy double but I wished I had booked a larger room as it was quite cramped. The floor in the room sloped as it is an old building and so did the bed and furniture. Having said that the facilities provided were excellent and the bed was made every day with replacement coffee and tea when required. Bath house toiletries were a touch of luxury. The bed was very comfortable and air conditioning in the room. Breakfast was lovely with a nice choice of full breakfast and cereal and pasties.

Came in today for some lunch and we loved it, will definitely be back. The atmosphere was great and all service was excellent. We were sat straight away, food came quickly and was very tasty. We decided to stay for a few more drinks after our food and the young lad on Ethan on the bar was fantastic, kept us very entertained haha. According to my husband he poured a great Guinness (but could do with some work on his shamrock). We look forward to returning in the future.

We had afternoon tea as a family of four and it was delicious. The savoury options were some of the best we’ve ever had (and we’ve eaten a lot of afternoon tea in our time!). It wasn’t the usual finger sandwiches but a selection of different options - it’s hard to pick a highlight but we all loved the ham and cheese croissant, especially as it was served warm. As for the cakes and scones, these were varied and delicious. Ample cream and jam were given which was a nice touch as often places can be stingy with these. It’s a lovely space with friendly, efficient staff and really great afternoon. Would highly recommend.

Bought 2 gluten free cakes here today. Great selection and all cakes were labelled with allergy advice. The young lady who served me was very helpful. Cakes, delicious. Would recommend.

Lovely cafe in Keswick Town centre. What I liked is that the cakes are not standard and there were different options. There were festive favourites in drinks including a gingerbread and cream latte. Not great for the waistline but lovely after a walk. We had hot chocolate, latte and cinnamon crumble flapjack which also had a mincemeat layer. Very Christmassy

Lovely cafe in Keswick! As a local I’ve tried and tested all the spots round here and the Wild Strawberry is just fab! Hands down the best chocolate cake in Keswick, if not the one of the best I’ve ever had! All cakes are made fresh on-site by the brilliant pastry chef. The staff are so lovely and very attentive, especially given how busy Keswick gets in summer, the service is amazing and very quick! Price is very on par with the rest of the town; you pay a premium everywhere in the lakes! Highly recommend going here! 🍓

Came for some sweet treats, ordered an iced matcha with syrup, tropical smoothie and a scone. The food was great and the atmosphere was also nice. Absolutely brilliant place. We had an afternoon tea and it was the best we’ve ever had. Lovely sandwich (and crepe) selection, beautiful scones (traditional fruit, blackberry and cheese was an option for a diabetic), then the patisseries were out of this world. They are dog friendly and our toddlers were given a simple couple of sandwiches, Victoria sponge cup cake and a brownie. Tea selection was great to, with plenty other drink options to. Can’t recommend enough.

Can’t fault the food. We were almost deterred by the prices, but having eaten, the prices are fair. The menu features an eclectic range of interesting dishes, I recommend two light bites over a main. We dined as a group of 7 and our table was a feast for the eyes, so many delicious meals. I highly recommend visiting.

What can I say... the food didn't rock my world if I have to be honest. We knew there will be a typical pub food but I hoped it'll be better. As a vegetarian I ordered halloumi burger, just to be safe, because I thought you can't do it wrong. I tried to take a good photo but no matter what angle I tried it wasn't impressive. I had one slice of tomato, some lettuce and four slices of halloumi. The cheese doesn't look amazing but it tasted OK. The bap wasn't from the top shelf but all together it tasted ok. Addition of caramelised onions or some sauces would be better, maybe mushrooms, something which would make it more exciting. Chips were good too. My husband's steak and ale pie was good.

Food wasn’t great. Drinks were fine and it was nice to sit outside. Partner ended up with raw chicken. I let them know but the manager refused to accept it.

We had the fish and chips and they were gorgeous, real homemade chips too! The service was excellent, very attentive. A good selection of beers and wine. It was lovely sitting outside at the front of the pub, but the beer garden and the inside of the pub also looked lovely. About 8/8:30 there was live music which was also a lovely touch. A great pub!!

The Lake Road Inn is a bit noisy, even on a Sunday evening, but it's still a very friendly pub. The food was a mix of fantastic (the beef burgers) to somewhat disappointing (the over- cooked chips), but all in all a great experience!

Raw chicken. Waitress apologised but when she told the manager, he came out to explain that it wasn’t possible because it’s boiled before oven cooking 🤷🏽‍♂️. I know what undercooked chicken looks like but he wasn’t having any of it. Disappointing customer service and below average food. Wouldn’t likely return.
Rebecca C — Google review
Chicken burger was very overcooked and quite tough. Onion rings were 99% grease. Chips decent. Outdoor seating was nice (even though the heater wouldn't work) and wasn't as busy as the other pubs. Drinks: great, food: okay

Lovely cafe, staff were friendly. There were lots of nice seating space. We could see the lovely gallery up the stairs. The coffee was nice. The GF cake was wonderful. The staff knew their allergies as well. As soon as they mentioned their special, they mentioned how it had almonds in. Which I appreciate as my partner has a nut allergy(apart from almonds). Treeby & Bolton has been a favourite for lunch every time I’ve come to Keswick over many years, so I was eagerly looking forward to visiting again after an absence of a couple of years. This time unfortunately it didn’t quite live up to expectations. The goats cheese salad I had was nice, but I felt the lunch menu was more restricted than previously, with none of the platters of locally sourced smoked meats or fish. Seating was disappointing; we asked to be seated in the conservatory but were told it was only for parties of four, despite many tables in there being empty & parties of two coming in after us being seated in there. All things considered , a disappointing experience.

Came for takeaway coffee after previously sitting in, excellent service with my experience lasting no longer than 3 minutes from start to finish? Especially at 11am I would consider this pretty outstanding for a popular spot, A warm, welcoming smile greeted me form the staff which made my day, a true connection between server and served. You might find the price to be on the higher end but the end product is fantastic and 110% a must see, My hot chocolate was not watery, cold, dull: but rather flavorful, indulgent and creamy. Lovely cafe in Keswick by the park. Visited 3 times during our week in Keswick. Great atmosphere and views. Excellent service and food and drink. Nice choices. We had lattes, cream tea, Brie and bacon baguette and Raspberry milkshakes.

The views are amazing, but I paid £6.50 for a warm milkshake, normally milkshakes are quite textured but this clearly wasn’t blended with ice and I think the squirty cream was the best part, yum! Also, I picked up a menu and some white stuff went on my lap, not ideal! And wait I didn’t realise this place had a pool!

Had a brilliant lunch with my 3 children, food suitable for all ages. Tasted delicious, great variety of drinks too! Will definitely be back!
Leanne D — Google review
Quick service, excellent bacon sandwich, friendly staff and all importantly, very dig friendly! Sat outside underneath the awning so could take in the rain showers without getting wet. The cakes selection looked amazing, will try those out next time! Love that there is a dig menu too 🐾

Turned up at opening time 10am to be told they didn’t open until 10:10. No offer of sitting down with the menu whilst waiting so 7 of us waited outside, the lady then opened the door to a dozen other people that came after us and made no attempt at any courtesy for us at all. We walked off to the lakeside restaurant down the road, had superb service with cooked breakfast and drinks and happily handed over £125 to someone that appreciated it. If I owned this place I’d be furious with the staff, typical one time tourist trade where they don’t care. One can only ‘hope’ they improve in the future but we won’t be back.

Called in to dodge some rain, my wife chose a white chocolate and pistachio milkshake, expecting crushed ice cubes or ice cream, she said it was just milk and cream, which made her feel sick. There was a good selection of cakes, I had a triple chocolate brookie which was lovely. Service was fast and friendly. Never sampled and food to review. We'd call back.

Really enjoyed the Sizzling stone experience! Food was excellent. Staff are fantastic and nothing is too much trouble. I prearranged some flowers to suprise my Mother on her birthday & they presented them to her. Highly recommend this restaurant.

Visit with family, very wet evening in October half term. Staff vary attentive, a little formal. Restaurant seemed a little drab and lacking in atmosphere. Not sure if lockdown restrictions had reduced capacity. Between us, we ordered two types of steaks, which we cooked on stone slabs at the table - that's the whole point of this restaurant. It's a fun novelty twist, but a little dated now. Instructions with cooking times are provided, and these proved accurate. Of the steaks, the beef fillet was very good, and what I would recommend. The prime rib was a little tough, and lacked flavour - disappointing as this is usually my favourite. As a restaurant specifically specialising in steaks, I expected better, hence my 3 star rating.
Peter R — Google review
Lovely little restaurant and the food was amazing. I loved it. We didn't book but the staff were very helpful and squeezed us in - and I'm really glad they did. Definitely a go to place. The photo of the stone is after we'd cooked everything. Delicious.

Amazing vegan food, great for a hearty lunch. Came on Sunday, so could only get the Sunday roast menu, but there were 5 different protein options and the size large was perfect. Also delicious desserts, particularly the ginger cake. Nice outdoor seating.

Such a cute little cafe and a joy to find fully vegan places to eat. We were amazed by the quality of food immediately ordering milkshakes when sitting down which were heavenly. I ordered the moving mountains burger which was cooked and presented beautifully, after trying someone else's Yorkshire pudding I immediately ordered just an entire plate of them with gravy they are the greatest things on the planet and I will return again just for the Yorkshire puddings. All homemade and I'd pay for the recipe. We left with some cakes (not pictured as they were devoured instantly). Would definitely recommend and we would be willing to travel all the way just to eat here.

Fantastic Sunday lunches. Just what we were after. The veg was fresh and not over-cooked at all. We had a Moroccan style rice roast, and the rosemary 'meat' slices. Both delicious. The cafe was busy but quick service. Another good reason to visit Keswick 🙂

Great service with a friendly team of staff and excellent and broad vegan menu! We loved the burgers, mac'n'cheeze, soup accompanied by some delicious smoothies and coffees! Had we not enjoyed the mains so much, we would have bought a slice of homemade cake which looked fab. We also noticed that Kat's has a selection of plant-based products to buy, such as cheeses, meat substitutes and chocolate.. in case you run out while you're away!
KEC — Google review
We had a lovely Sunday lunch here on a recent trip to Keswick. The Yorkshire puddings were especially well made, and Kat was kind enough to come and chat to me about how she made them, as I was very curious, having had plenty of problematic vegan Yorkies over the years. A charming cafe with tasty grub and friendly staff, what more could you ask for?

Nestled in Keswick, Jans Lakeland Sandwich Shop may seem unassuming from the outside, but it's a hidden gem worth discovering. Despite its small size, this shop boasts an extensive menu offering made-to-order sandwiches and homemade soups and specials. While it primarily operates as a takeaway spot, it's a go-to destination for those seeking fuel for their outdoor adventures with its array of hot and cold sandwiches, salads, pies, pastries, and daily specials.
Such a great choice of breads, fillings and extras-we are always really happy with our visits here. My son is lactose intolerant and the lady who served him was so kind and patient going through all the choices with him. Huge choices for vegetarians too. Always worth a visit for hungry tummies, the sandwiches are always packed full of yumminess!

Fantastic sandwiches and rolls, made to order by very nice people. We had ciabatta rolls, with veg and cheese. Tasty and substantial enough to see us though a long, hard walk. They open early so you can get your supplies before heading for the hills. Homemade cookies and locally made cake bars for a treat too. Why would anyone go to Greggs when you've got this?
Susan P — Google review
I read online they offered gluten free options and I pleasantly surprised to find they also cater for coeliac. They wiped down benches and changed as much as they could to cater for this. Choices were stored separately and the sandwiches were lovely!
Fay W — Google review
I recently visited Jan's Lakeland Sandwich Shop and wanted to share my experience. Overall, I was impressed with the quality of the sandwiches. The ingredients tasted fresh, and the bread was delicious. The staff were friendly and efficient, and the service was quick. I had the chicken and Brie in sun-dried tomato ciabatta, which was amazing. The prices were reasonable for the portion sizes. One minor suggestion would be to perhaps offer a wider variety of drinks. I'd recommend Jan's for a satisfying and well-made sandwich.

Fantastic place for a spot of brunching before heading home after a long weekend at the Mountain Festival. Walked past during the weekend and swiftly decided to come back when we were ready to head home. Got seated straight away at the window seats and proceeded to have our order taken within 5 minutes. Coffee and berry smoothie swiftly followed and then our food arrived. My full English was great, the cube of hash brown was delicious. I’m told the vegan blt was one of the nicest things my girlfriend has had and she’s going to attempt to make her own. Would happily come back next time we’re in Keswick 👍

The best hash browns I have ever had. What an unexpected and lucky find. We wanted a quick meal before hiking the cat bells and struck gold here. The food was delicious. Really interesting flavours and felt very fresh. Even the bacon that can often be overdone. The service was ok, we waked for sparkling water three times and eventually got given one small bottle and told that's all they had when three wanted it, so gave up. Otherwise was friendly, but they seemed a tad overworked. Definitely go for the hash browns.

What a great pub. I was recommended to seek out the ‘Crafty Bar’ by a client and was not disappointed. A bizarre and unusual venue with a great selection of beer. Really friendly and attentive staff. Great quirky building with two floors. Wide selection of beer and ales, though the large board featuring them all is a little confusing. Didn't get to try any food as the kitchen isn't open today. Friendly and helpful staff, but couldn't get half pints which is a bit unusual.

Great little bar with seating upstairs and down. It can get busy especially on a weekend or if they have a musician on but you can book a table. 8-10 beers and ciders available on tap at the bar but fridges full of cans and bottles from all over. The cans and bottles I found to be a little pricey. Always worth popping it, funky interior design.

Great bar in Keswick. We went twice in one day. Perfect for an afternoon pint or night for Live music and good atmosphere. Loads of beer choices if you're a beer bore and all priced so no surprises. They even give you free snacks of popcorn or crisps. Handsome Hound was a very nice pint 👌 They also have food but I didn't eat

Lovely venue, great collection of beers and quirky venue! … but a one hour wait for food. Seems to be no matter what you order, it is delivered on a first served basis. For example, we ordered OLIVES and waited 45 minutes for them to arrive.

Love this pub, loads to look at all over walls and ceilings, great chalk/games board for kids and adults ! Anita and Jean are great assets to the place, great for a chat and a laugh. We were recommended this place by a couple we spoke to in another bar, and we’re so glad they mentioned it! George E — Google review
No word of a lie, this is an absolute diamond of a place!! I’m sick of calling in at places and ordering a sweet treat, only to find it dry, lacking flavour, tiny and overpriced, at Annie’s Pantry, these were the absolute opposite!! We ordered a crunchie brownie, lemon drizzle cake and rocky road, they were all delicious!!! The lemon drizzle cake actually tasted of lemons, it was t just a vanilla sponge with a bit of lemon icing on, it was moist and a proper healthy portion! The brownie was all fudgie and had a lovely topping of chocolate and crunchies! The rocky road was moist too and crammed with marshmallows and maltesers! Honestly, it was an absolute winner and a total recommend! It’s a little off the beaten track but so good that next time we’re in Keswick I’ll be making a special trip just to taste its treats 🤩

George Fisher in Keswick is a top-notch outdoor equipment and clothing specialist, offering everything from walking boots to camping gear. The store has a rich history, originally opened as a photography shop in 1887. It now features a cozy cafe on the top floor with stunning views of the surrounding mountains. In addition to its excellent selection of locally roasted coffee and homemade cakes, George Fisher provides a lovely escape from the hustle and bustle of Keswick's town center.
A shop full of amazing kit and highly knowledgeable staff. I went in looking for some new boots and the gentleman who I spoke to was so helpful. He measured my feet and instep, concluded that I had quite narrow feet (which was probably the cause of blisters in my previous boots) and found me the perfect pair! Although I didn't purchase any then due to the price, I am very grateful for their help!

They saved our 2-week walking vacation. Have foot problems plus injuring the foot on the first day. Susie patiently helped me tried on many pairs of hiking boots until I found the right one. The Keswick Alhambra Cinema is a charming, old-fashioned movie theater that has been in continuous operation for over a century. Independently owned and exuding nostalgia with its red and gold decor, ornate radiators, and velvet swinging chairs, it offers a cozy trip down memory lane. The cinema screens a wide range of popular films for both adults and children.
Went to the Alhambra Cinema today on a wet afternoon in Keswick. What an absolute pleasure it was. From the moment we entered, with the excellent man sorting the tickets and snacks. Someone was buying a gift voucher for friends and he couldn’t have been more helpful, and not letting her leave until he had given her a lovely card to present the voucher in. The cinema itself was fantastic and now the standard I would like in the future. Thank you Alhambra for a lovely memory.

What a great little cinema. The sound, seats and smell took me back to visiting our local cinema some 40years ago. Please support this gem of a place by popping in to watch a film when you are on holiday. (Note to the Cinema owners)....Think about showing more retro films if you can. Films from the 80s and 90s may well bring in more crowds than modern ones. P.s knock a couple of £'s off the price of your popcorn & sales of it will deffo go up. Thanks & we will be back next time we visit. 😁👍

Gorgeous cinema - two screens and plenty variety in films - we were on a family holiday and booked for a treat! Totally lived up to all expectations - snacks and drinks weren't crazy prices - please buy to help support the cinema! Best popcorn I've had in ages too, and I had a tea in pot cup - great sustainability efforts everywhere. The toilets are epic - I advise you visit more than one 😉

The Keswick Alhambra Cinema is that rare thing in being a go to entertainment establishment that implicitly understands that it's the quality of the all round entertainment experience that motivates customers to attend and patronize. This cinema and its staff wrap their arms around you from the moment you enter the building. Service is charming, facilities & hospitality superlative. The owners and staff create a truly immersive experience that it always worth leaving the sofa for. For me this is the Gold Standard for how cinemas should be operated and run. Always a memorable and rewarding experience and one of those things that makes you feel good about life.

Great cinema. The seats are really comfy. You can take drinks in with you, alcoholic and non-alcoholic, sweets etc. The owners were super friendly and helpful as we had big rucksacks with us. We'd definitely go again and I'm just sorry I don't live nearby, they have a great range of films on offer.

The best beers and place to have a drink in Keswick, especially when it is nice a sunny to sit outside in the beer garden. It has a new wooden/roofed gazebo to sit under if raining or sunny. They sell a cracking selection of beers and you can do brewery tours on certain days. If you love to chill out, sit outside and drink quality beer, this is a must.😊 They also sell Gluten free beers and low alcohol beers.
