Outdoor swimming pool
The Vestavia Hills Aquatic Complex is a popular spot for residents with its competition pool and family-style leisure pool, both closely monitored by trained lifeguards. The leisure pool offers a zero-step entry and interactive water features, including a swirling vortex to entertain younger swimmers. While membership is required for entry, the clean facilities and attentive lifeguards provide peace of mind for families enjoying the pools.
I brought my son here the other day for the first time, I wasn’t sure what to expect but the girl at the front area helped me with what to do. Basically at least one person has to have a season pass in order to visit, as I was originally planning on just paying for the day. However, i decided to go ahead and buy passes for us both. I’m not a huge fan of the crowd, but that’s not something that is inherently problematic or something that can be remedied, so I don’t of mean to seem negative. I’m just used to my friend’s pool. However, now we have two options for swimming. I’m SUPER impressed with the foods and snacks area btw! They offer chick fil A and dip n dots, among other things. I will say that it is vastly different than the previous layout. That’s not a bad thing though; just nostalgia in my thoughts. With that being said, the new complex is ultra modern and I’m thankful to be a member.

If I could give it a zero I would. Very racist park. They let people who didn't look like us in the park with asking them if they stayed in the area but asked us as soon as we walked up if we stayed in the are. Profiling at its finest. I hate the world we live in. It was me, my mom and 2 boys. I work in vestavia but can't have fun with my kids in vestavia. This is the most racist thing ever. I could see if you had to have a membership. I Google public park. It brought us here to only be turn away. Mind you... it was only Caucasian people. No blacks no where. Go figure. I didn't expect this to be the out come. Very disappointing.

We love the pool, splash padand concessions. Please keep it at a reasonable price so we can swim every year. 🙏

Just pass by to eat lunch but I love the area. Nice place to hangout to swim 🏊‍♂️ 🏊‍♀️ or play ball⚽️🏈🥎 with the family on a summer day. Mountain to one side and a busy hwy runs by but works so well together. Enjoy☀️

Zoo
Zoos & Aquariums
Birmingham Zoo is a sprawling animal kingdom that houses over 950 animals from 230 different species. It offers visitors the opportunity to observe a wide variety of creatures up close, including elephants, lions, giraffes, gorillas, rhinos, tigers, and hippos. The zoo also features a petting zoo and an aviary with colorful birds. In addition to its permanent residents like American Flamingos and Black-Handed Spider Monkeys, the zoo hosts traveling exhibits.
Kind of smaller then some of the Zoo's iv been to but that definitely not a knock on this place it's perfect for smaller kids that want to walk around and not de stuck in the stroller, its packed full of exhibits and lots of animals including a road runner that liked being talked to and was proud to show off his stick, the staff was extremely friendly and willing to talk and educate about their animals, unfortunately i didn't catch her name but had a great conversation with one of the ladies about the two brand new fennec foxes that she had just drove to pick up. There's lots to see and plenty of activities. Great place to spend the day getting to see and learn about from all over the world
Jeremy D — Google review
I have been to the Birmingham Zoo countless times throughout my life and children's and now my grandchildren. It's a place we have enjoyed many memories together as a family. However, this past visit (Saturday 8/10/25) was disappointing. The wait wasn't bad, there was just one person in front of us in line. The children's discounted price listed online didn't reflect the children's discounted price actually charged (It was just a couple of dollars different, so I let it slide) There weren't hardly any animals. No seals, we didn't see any alligators (like we normally do), there weren't any tigers, there weren't any rhinos, only one male lion, only one zebra, only one elephant. The few animals they did have looked sad and/or agitated (it showed in the eyes, body language, and action). It normally takes us a couple hours to enjoy the zoo but this time it took us around 30 minutes. I was excited to go with my grandson for his first visit to the zoo, but it was disappointing not to be able to see a lot of the animals we love to see. I hope the zoo can acquire various animals and enough so the animals won't be lonely. I hope things turn around,I would hate for a place that holds so many memories to close.

Fun fun place to visit. Lots to see, just make sure you are wearing comfortable shoes. My kids had a blast and walking around to see everything took all day long. Good place to take your kids if you wanna exhaust them. We went for a Halloween event and was BUSY! Place had plenty of activities, face painting, costume parade and all. We all had a blast. Highly recommend- support our local zoo and take your kids for a fun day out
Zori T — Google review
This was my first visit to the zoo in 17 years. I had a blast, even though it was pretty hot in the concession stands are way overpriced. With that said we had a great time.

Thursday in the Fall. They closed food and petting barn before 3pm. Disappointing. A few buildings were sparse, but it seems they are renovating so that will be good soon. Our favorite was the train, flamingos, and feeding giraffe. Definitely a 3 right now, would have been better if we got to pet sheep. JS.
T S — Google review
The zoo was amazing. Feeding the giraffe and the lorikeets was quite an experience. They have a lot of great animals to see and a great kids section of the zoo with a playground, petting zoo, and a little aquarium wall. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable about the animals.
Karis S — Google review
Small, completely walkable in an hour and half, zoo. Staff is nice. $20 a person seems steep. However, it's scenic and shady.
Daryl N — Google review
Loved our visit, ran into a lovely elephant that just had to have the freshest leaves, so he came really close to the end of the enclosure. Easy layout made it so we saw the whole zoo without having to check the map all the time. loved the fact there were several different viewing areas for all exhibits. If you couldn't see the animals from one side, you walked around to the second viewing area and could see them. This also speaks to the large size habitats the animals had, which made me happy for them.

Theme Parks
Alabama Adventure & Splash Adventure is a popular water park and amusement park in Alabama. Located in Gulf Shores, Waterville USA offers a wide range of water attractions including slides, lazy river, and laser tag maze. The park has been continuously updated since its opening in 1986 to maintain state-of-the-art facilities. In Bessemer, just 20 minutes from Birmingham, Alabama Adventure!
Had a great time here. Kids had a seasonal pass and parking and drinks were free. For being a Sunday it wasn't really busy. We got there at 10:30 when they opened and left at 3pm. Loved the family time
Debbie A — Google review
I drove two and a half hours to visit this park. It was extremely clean, the free soft drinks and refills (all day!) and sunscreen were a super nice and much appreciated bonus. The food was really good and reasonably priced especially when you factor in that you do not have to pay for drinks. I was also extremely impressed and truly amazed at the diving show! The divers are super talented young men and women and were so nice to come out and meet the crowd after. My grandchildren were so excited to be able to meet and talk to them. The wave pool was a great attraction and there are many water rides for all ages and thrill levels. The water park is definitely the draw as the amusement side is much smaller in comparison. Everyone in our group loved the Laser Maze and the little ones loved the kids train ride. My grandson was especially fond of the water slide the Drop Zone. Overall I highly recommend this park and would consider it a must go to if you are in the area !!
DB S — Google review
It’s a nice place to take the keys to specially some real quick and face, but the food was not great to me because the food was not fresh. Some of the tables was not clean off, but like I said it’s just somewhere quick to take the kids too to have a fun day. I feel like they need more food attraction like Kenny Apple stores all day will I go back again, just to go somewhere quick and get rid of the kids yes but but it’s just somewhere quick to take the kids to and I feel like they need more rides to be open For the price that you pay. You will assume some of the rides were open, but they would not, and it was one of my biggest problems, but like I said, I would go back again and hopefully it will be a little more better because of the food. My food was cold. It was not fresh and they just give you old fries just to get rid of you out of the line especially your chicken tenders.
L*ndy89 — Google review
My daughter and niece had fun with their Girl Scout troop yesterday until it started raining. Before I share the bad part, I will say, the tenders were good, my girls enjoyed their cheeseburgers (though...they dont have ketchup??) and I appreciate not being required to dish out money over and over again to keep them hydrated (free drinks!) My 9 year old had a growth spurt so she couldnt enjoy a number of rides on the "Adventure" side but she did enjoy what she could ride. I love that parking is free, and although I always bring my own sunscreen, knowing the park offers a free backup is good. You can bring in your own, empty, non-glass cup to fill with the free drinks, which I recommend because they've run out of cups on 2 of our previous summer visits. Now...the frustrating part. It rained yesterday. Before the thunder even started, the lifeguards made everyone get out (Why? They're already wet). Per their website, the attractions must be shut down for 1 hour for you to get a pass to come back at a later date. We waited because we were hoping to just STAY at the park; we hadnt seen 1 show yet and the girls really enjoyed it last year, plus they hadn't visted all of the attractions on their 'list' yet. Also, visiting Splash Adventure is consistently one of the "rewards" they request after a successful cookie booth season. For the girls, this is their 1 chance, each summer, to visit Splash Adventure so we like to stay from open until closing. But once we realized the thunder wasn't stopping and then saw a flash of lightening-we were out of there. We went to guest services (as a group, as required, per their policy) to find out if we could get passes to come back....nope...everything must be closed for 1 hour, at that point it had only been closed for 50 minutes...but each ride must remain closed, awaiting clear skies, for at least 15 minutes after you hear thunder or see lightning (per one of the lifeguards)...we approached guest services once we saw lightning. Follow me, because I promise you my math IS mathing...if we must be lightening and thunder free for 15 minutes...and we just saw lightening...and we've already been waiting around doing nothing with a bunch of kids for 50 minutes...??? You get where I'm going? Even if the skies magically cleared up, by the time you open the rides back up-they've been closed for over an hour. Unfortunately, we were herding cranky kids, outside, in a thunderstorm (the group has to come up to guest services together, remember? So no sending the kiddos and a parent to the safety of your vehicle or to wait in a shop) so we just decided to leave early and leave without the return passes. We've already told the girls that next year, they're going to have to choose a different reward.
LaTonia W — Google review
Visited the park with my kids on a Friday. The park was it super packed, and we were able to ride all the water rides without much of a wait. It was a rainy day, and for the first hour, rides were shut down due to lightning. Not a big deal, but got a little frustrated when I heard a radio that a lifeguard was using say that they'd been clear for a while, they just hadn't put the word out. I appreciate safety closures, but I would think they'd get customers back to the fun as soon as it's safe. Otherwise, the staff was ok. Park cleanliness was not too notch. Bathrooms were pretty gross. I know it's a water park and people drip water all over the place, but I saw staff just sitting around doing nothing (quite a bit), and I feel someone could have been assigned to keep facilities cleaner. There was also a hand sanitizer station that looked like a hazardous waste tub (see pic) The free drink offer is pretty awesome. Overall, we had a good time because the ride lines were so short, and the kids had a good time. Minor improvements could make it even better.
Jarrad C — Google review
Really disappointed in the way the park is being operated. What was once a very magical place has been reduced to an unrecognizable mess. For starters the “Main Street” looks like a ghost town. The “gift shops” are empty and don’t sell anything to show you’ve visited. All of the novelty shops are gone and closed, but yet there’s a ridiculously placed glass blowing shop..? All of the old tattered signage is still in place showing what was once a themed area but is now a faded peeling vacant lot. What kind of park gift shop doesn’t sell cups/magnets/keychains? As for their advertising and marketing… I’m not really sure what the decisions are being made there… but honestly it’s awful. Why advertise as a theme park and water park if it’s 95% water and 5% park? When you look at your signage/logo it looks as tho it’s 50/50. BE PREPARED-all of the rides here are pack n go carnival rides. Everything is gone. Hurricane, Zoomerang, vertigo, stratos-fear, all of the original kids rides, the Ferris wheel, the log flume, the wild river rapids, buzzsaw falls, the pirate ship, the swings and so many more are ALL GONE… many of which are just literal empty concrete foundations where the rides used to be… and for their focus to be on making it a water park, that’s chopped as well. The landscaping has been totally changed, the giant bucket and play area which was the face of the water area has been reduced to what I can only describe as a glorified McDonald’s play place. But hey, at least they made sure to leave that very bucket sitting on the ground to taunt you that your memories have been destroyed. Thanks. I am just really in awe of just how much has gone wrong at this park, it really is so sad to see the Rampage just rotting when their own website states it is set to open “2025” is it that hard to fix your own website? I feel it was a complete waste of an off day and my earned money… I am happy to have seen the park so many times in the glory days. To have seen Disney Stars live in concert at the parks amphitheater, riding the Ferris wheel during a concert! Which is now covered by faded, leaking water slides.. yay! As for what they “have added” cheddar chase is a cheap copy of a ride called “crazy mouse” upon further inspection you’ll notice it’s a pack n go carnival ride they’ve sat down in zommerangs grave. The “YoYo” ride is already being dismantled and sold off I’m sure so who knows what’ll be next in the what was once the Vertigo’s home. The “Galleon” pirate ship ride which is not the original ship ride is BROKEN and has been for the entire season, which with it being new, why? Because they are PACK N GO CARNIVAL RIDES. Rampage appears to be closed for good, many of the employees stated this and that the park has been hosting a fundraiser for it… the ride was covered in weeds, trees and branches. Just sitting rotting over the park. And what was the idea for the hurricane gravesite? A whole bunch of rotting gnome houses? Like what is going on in the main office at this place. Hope the theme park finds its theme again and manages to hire some competent people in the higher ups to breathe some life back into Magic City’s only theme park.
Tyler F — Google review
It was my first time and I had a blast definitely will be going back. The lazy river was my absolute favorite just floating on a float
Rhonda S — Google review
We had a wonderful time during our stay other than this one instance when we were riding the Scrambler and experienced two of the rudest people/employees we could have ever imagined encountering. Aside from their draining and exhausting attitudes, they told my son and his friend (10 year olds) they didn’t need to use their seatbelts. This was not only unprofessional but could’ve lead to a very dangerous situation. One of them also asked “can I not read” since I went down the wrong line, in which I replied “I couldn’t read” because I see nothing wrong with someone who may suffer from illiteracy, it was just her smart mouth trying to make someone feel less than that really gave me a bad vibe. I wouldn’t have even said anything had it not been for the improper seat restraint situation. I hope these ladies find another job where people, especially children, aren’t the full focus. I truly hope that everyone could find their calling and become the best versions of themselves while doing so, however this doesn’t serve in the best interests of an amusement park by having employees with little to no safety standards or morals can ever be done.

Park
Pinson Bicentennial Park is a family-friendly destination with various amenities to enjoy. The park features a walking track, splash pad, playground, and amphitheater. Visitors can also rent a party room for different events. It's known for its cleanliness and diverse activities suitable for families. Additionally, the park offers shaded areas, a small creek, and facilities like restrooms and lockers.
♿️ Beautiful green space that is very accessible for those with mobility issues. Parking at the front by the gate or you can drive into the park and park in 2 of the available handicap spaces. It is all paved, so easy to navigate. There is lots of parking at the top. There is a playground, water play area, a building which has restrooms, benches in the shade, and a picnic table on one side under a covered area. There is an amphitheater right in the middle and they offer movies on Fridays or Saturdays. The park is very clean and well kept. It was also a pretty busy time around noon to 1 on a weekday. If you follow the entirety of the path, it's not quite a mile and I walked it twice. There is also a smaller loop that is even, no hills. There is a very shaded spot of the walk, near what is a little water drainage area. There was a little water in there, but not a lot. The rocks caught my attention though. Plenty of benches, garbage cans, and picnic areas, though the majority are not covered. This is just a huge green area that is very enjoyable. It is kind of hidden off a side street and that makes it even better.

We regularly play disc golf here, and it offers a great atmosphere! The restrooms are always clean. The park is clean and always feels safe to us. It is definitely a family park. The scenery is beautiful, with a creek running by the property.

This is a great park for a picnic, walking, jogging and disc golfing. Lots of shaded areas and a small creek (hardly any water due to limited rain right now). Visitors have access to restrooms which are clean with a few lockers (ladies' restroom). Nice playground for the kiddies that includes a water splash pad.

Nice, clean, and spacious park back off the main road. Great for walking, kids enjoy the playground and wide open space. I'm a woman in my 50's and feel safe here walking alone with headphones on, (paying attention to my surroundings of course).

Homewood Central Park, located next to the Homewood community center, is a peaceful and tranquil space offering lush green areas for picnics, frisbee games, and kite flying. The park features a large playground for kids and six pavilions with picnic tables. Additionally, there are amenities such as an amphitheater, tennis courts, and a walking path. Visitors appreciate the clean and family-friendly environment with ponds, walking trails, lawn spaces for games, benches, and picnic tables.
♿️ Beautiful park in the middle of Homewood. The walking track is about the size of a city block. But, there is a splash pad for the kids and huge playground. It was very busy while there. Lots of pavilions and benches. Beautiful stonework bridge. And these is a small creek. It is handicap accessible for mobility issues. The restrooms are near by and accessible by wheelchair. They also have an AED nearby. There is a rock amphitheater and just a huge concrete area that I couldn't quite figure out what it's use could possibly be. There were also nearby tennis courts. Good place to check out if you haven't been, well maintained, and it's right in the middle of everything.

Needing to find an hour to kill in Homewood we found the central park. My kids had so much fun. I was truly surprised to see the park had a water side, playground, and a walking trail. Homewood Central Park is how all parks should be. I was just visiting but the engagement and friendliness of the kids and parent support with watching the kids was cool. I would visit again whenever I'm in town. The park was full but I tried my best to not capture any other kids but my own.

This was a childhood park of mine, and a good one at that too, it has certainly been revamped over the years so let's explore what we have to see what has changed. They even have a pool next to the park too but that's a separate review so let's save it for next time. Environment: There is a trail that goes around in a circle and a playground for the kids, the playground has changed a lot, I saw construction on it the last time and I was like, hmm they are probably making it better and they delivered with more and more entertainment. There is also a creek too and a beautiful mini waterfall, watch out for the snakes! 🤣👍 Overall, I would recommend this park to any and all people of ages looking for some fun in Homewood, Alabama. 💯

Loved this pool. Great kid are & the bigger pool had the "beach" area with a slow decline into the deeper water. Nice snack bar, abundant amounts of chairs for families, a good number of attentive lifeguards. One unfortunate event was a baby going up the baby slide in front of us has diarrhea coming out of his diaper top & bottom. We scooped up our kids & went to tell the staff. They jumped on the situation, emptied the entire pool for 30 min while they cleaned & tested the water! None of us got sick or anything so the cleanup must've worked!

Such a great park! There is one fenced in area specifically for children with swings, playsets, etc, and another large grassy area with walking trails. The children's area has unique features such as dinosaurs and rock climbing. Clean public restrooms, picnic tables.

Playground
Patriot Park, situated at the intersection of Raleigh Avenue and Oak Grove Road in Homewood, AL, has recently undergone renovations to include two pavilions, a concrete walking path, a playground for both younger and older kids, and bathroom facilities. This passive park offers a tranquil setting amidst lush greenery where visitors can unwind and enjoy nature. The park's spacious grounds provide ample room for various activities such as soccer, running, picnics, bike riding, skating, volleyball and more.
♿️ Very accessible park, green space. At least 2 allotted parking apots, with a ramp onto sidewalk, as well as, a ramp from the crosswalk onto the sidewalk. You can visit the restaurants in the area or the park. The entirety is paved, so it's very easy to walk or wheel, mostly level, no significant changes in the continuity of the paving. Found another Vulcan and was really excited about that. This one is a little more modest as kids play here, but his cheeks are mostly covered. I noticed in the play area, it is also inclusive and there is fake turf to keep your children safe. There is a teardrop type swing hat had the safety piece across the front right alongside the other swings. There was a "secret" area with a bridge and again I found declarations of love in the form of padlocks. There are only a few, so not many know of this "tradition" yet. There were lights along this path, but the sidewalk just ends in a neighborhood on a road. There was a second splashpad for this area above the park and that's really nice considering how busy the other area was that day. This is a well lit park and I believe the sign said open until 10pm. Fantastic if you don't want to walk in the heat during the day. There was a volleyball net complete with sand to play in and this is the first park with this feature I've seen yet. Walking 3 laps is about a mile and a half. The trees and stonework are beautiful. Overall, it's just a lovely area and park in general. There is plenty of parking in general, right in the front area of the park.

There is Parking is very close to play gym area. Nice playground equipment even for toddlers to play on. Cushioned astroturfing so the play area is very forgiving for little kid falls and bumps. Large, spaced well, swing area. There is a very large open field for activities inside the walking track. It was just too cold today for us to stay very long and enjoy the rest of the amenities. But this is a very nice and safe park in homewood thanks to the great parks and recreational department we have in homewood.

Good park, has a play section for the younger kids 2-5 and also a bigger play part for the older kids. Has some nice swings and a few picnic benches to eat in the shade if you want. Next to the city pool and a few restaurants. Good stop to stretch during our road trip with young kids.
Twin D — Google review
I usually walk there and around on the paved walk path that circles the park. It's a nice wide-open park with a nice playground, restrooms, and a couple of picnic tables scattered around. It's not a large park but it is easy to find a spot of your own if you do not want to be bothered.

Life Time Fitness provides a comprehensive fitness experience with state-of-the-art equipment, friendly and knowledgeable trainers, and a stress-free environment. The facility offers resort-style and lap pools, whirlpools, saunas, and steam baths for post-workout relaxation. Additionally, the gym provides user-friendly classes and an app while also offering childcare programs that align with adult classes.
This place will give you the motivation you need to get to the gym- which getting there is the biggest part of the battle for me! The classes & app are user-friendly, the staff is friendly and helpful and their kid’s program is not a daycare- it’s an actual program that lines up with adult classes! We love our new gym home ❤️

Buyer beware. Make sure to monitor your payments/bank statements and don’t sign up for auto draft. On multiple un-related instances, we were charged for months of swim classes that we explicitly declined or didn’t sign up for at all. It’s a shame, especially when you take into account the overall high quality of the gym’s amenities.

I have been a member of this gym for many years. I have always enjoyed Lifetime until recently. There is a middle aged blond woman at reception who is an absolute nightmare. Borderline harassing and rude. I'm going to reach out to corporate to see if I can have this issue resolved. I go to the gym to workout and relax. Not to be harassed and stressed.

I would never suggest getting a massage from this place. The Lady was Extremley Rude Short and just plain nasty to me when talking about what kind of massage i wanted. Also the way she looked at me was not acceptable. There was no way on planet earth after the way she spoke to me and looked at me was I going to let her put her hands on me for an hour. I did not feel comfortable remaining in the same room as her. This is the time they talk about what you need before you take the time to undress and get on the table for the massage. I told her the way she talked to me was not acceptable and that not only am I leaving right now I am also going to cancel my Gym membership and I did just that. I left the spa and went to cancel my Gym Membership and two ladies followed me running there mouth telling me i still have to pay. Even though i never received my massage and left because she made me feel uncomfortable they still charged my card 90.00 I am filing a police report, disputing the charges and filing a complaint with the BBB and there corporate office. I will not tolerate a nasty Rude lady and a THIEF.

Joining Lifetime Fitness has been the best investment I have made in myself in a long time. The facility itself is amazing! From ALL the amenities to the employees, who are always smiling and so friendly, the energy in this place is incredible! Now, let me tell you about my trainer….Working with Angie Pike at Life Time Fitness has been a game-changer! Over the past 15 weeks, I’ve lost 21 pounds and 5% body fat! Angie designs workouts that are both challenging and fun, keeping me excited for every session. Her positivity is infectious—she always makes me laugh and leaves me feeling motivated!! She is unlike any trainer I’ve worked with before! Her knowledge and expertise are unmatched, and she tailors every workout to my goals, making each workout effective and so fun! If you’re looking for a dedicated, uplifting, highly skilled and EFFECTIVE trainer at Life Time Fitness, Angie Pike is the absolute best! Thanks to her, I am over halfway to my goal and cannot wait to get there!

I absolutely love this place. The facility is friggin huge, and I have yet to take advantage of all that it offers. It’s literally like being at a luxury resort. The array of exercise equipment and machinery is pretty mind blowing. Staff is always friendly, professional, and eager to help if need be. I’ve been coming here for about 8 months now and it still feels great to enter the front door for a workout. Since I’ve been here, I’ve also reached some milestones in my fitness journey that have heightened my will to keep getting better. Today I got to spend my 1st warm, sunny day at the outdoor pool and it was an absolute piece of paradise. Always looking forward to my next visit…
Russell W — Google review
One of the highlights of my mornings at Lifetime was seeing a group of men gathered quietly in the sitting area, sharing in Bible study. They weren’t loud, disruptive, or interfering with anyone else’s experience—just a small group in peaceful fellowship. It was a refreshing, grounding sight in a world that often feels chaotic. This week, that changed. These men were told they could no longer meet because someone complained. That’s it—one complaint, and something uplifting, harmless, and meaningful was shut down. What’s frustrating is the glaring inconsistency in Lifetime’s stance on inclusion and expression. There seems to be no issue celebrating Pride Month openly and visibly—even around children, whether members are comfortable with it or not. But a group reading the Bible quietly? That crosses the line? This isn’t about religion vs. identity—it’s about integrity and consistency. Lifetime promotes a message of diversity and belonging, but it appears that only applies when it suits certain narratives. Silencing peaceful religious expression while promoting other forms of identity so openly reveals a lack of balance and fairness. If Lifetime wants to be a truly inclusive space, that inclusion needs to extend to everyone—not just the groups that are deemed socially acceptable in the moment. I hope they reconsider this decision, not just for the sake of the Bible study group, but for the integrity of their brand and what they claim to stand for.

The pavilions are popular on weekends but well-maintained. This park offers more than just a water park; it's also equipped with baseball fields, soccer fields, and restrooms.
Attended granddaughter's birthday party here. Not too crowded. The kids enjoyed the playground. Very convenient restrooms. Good parking Two people in our party did get stung by yellow jackets though.

We love this place. It's a very nice park to bring all ages of kids. They also have a splash pad in the summer, one for older kids and one for very small toddlers who are scared to go to the big one. They have like 3 or 4 swings you can sit on to watch your kids play and they also have pavilions. The playground is also adult friendly incase you wanna get up there and play with your little one.

Extremely nice soccer complex! The turf fields are really nice as long as you're not playing games at the end of the summer. If the ambient temperature is over 90* the fields are 15-20* hotter.

♿️ It's a great park with accessibility. It looks like they are still working on it. I went for the trails that are definitely not made for those with mobility issues. I push myself everyday to do better than the last, but my leg is not made to climb hills. I can do it, but it is hilarious to watch. I did wrote a review for the splashpad but did not realize it was all connected. I still believe they are working on the trails and disc golf parts of this park. It is huge. I have one photo where the pavement ends right at the tennis court. But, there's pickle ball courts, the splash pad, a giant fenced in dog park, a doggie bath, the trails, covered areas for picnics or parties, and the athletic fields. I did not go to this side of the park. I found so many handicap spaces, but could see moms having trouble with stroller wheels in the gravel. I can't see a wheelchair getting through the gravel in the parking lot at least without having help. Some of us are independent and would try it anyway and quite possibly get stuck. Just some things to think about parks and rec if you are making it accessible for everyone. Beautiful spot for this park and the views are amazing. I only took the star away bc of the trails, the map being broken, and the gravel that you would get out if the car and put your chair onto to wheel yourself to the sidewalk. Consider a sidewalk along the front of the parking lot for easy access to the ramp.
Nova — Google review
Love the pickleball courts here! Since it doesn't appear to be posted anywhere, the lights for the courts have a permanent cut-off of 10 PM each night.

SHAC is a great facility for any number of sports & activities. Large enough to simultaneously host multiple football, soccer & lacrosse games or practices. Also, there are plenty of walking trails & pickle ball courts, a splash pad & playgrounds too. But, understand that most days, if you want a field, you're going to need a reservation from Vestavia Parks & Rec. Or, be prepared to graciously give it up when asked. If you don't have a reservation, whatever else you may choose to do, do not argue with me over my nightly 2-hour slot or try insisting that I have to move my football practice until your pick-up soccer "match" is finished. If you & your obviously years past prime buddies don't have one, it's best to just find another "pitch" where you can desperately cling to dreams of soccer glories past.

Great soccer fields. We'll maintained and clean. Would be hard for wheelchair or strollers to get to far fields as the sidewalk doesn't go that far.

Can't be the price but it's really starting to show its age. Equipment is not state of the art and in some cases isn't maintained that well but everything more or less works. The locker rooms on the other hand, well that's a whole other story. They're usually pretty clean except for the showers. Don't use the showers unless you want athlete's foot and you're okay with moldy shower curtains.

I would never recommend this place. I live two minutes from this rec center and they claim I'm not a Hoover resident. They won't let me into their facility even though I can walk there from my apartment. Its disappointing that their employees only see what's on their computer system instead of listening and using common sense. The manager wouldn't even speak to me. Very sad because I enjoy working out.

Really love the sense of community here - both from the members and the staff. Speaking of, a shout-out to Samuel (front desk) and Mitch (pool). They do their job well and are genuinely good guys. Both care about you not just as a member but as a person. I consider them (and am thankful that they are) both my friends. Love to come here and swim laps regularly. The HRC is awesome!
David C — Google review
I love the Hoover Rec! The only reason I didn’t give them five stars is they keep the top floor walking track sweltering. It is always so extremely warm. There are a lot of windows, so I’m sure that contributes to how hot it feels. Also, this is one of the only places that I know of that the staff gets to park right in front, instead of the customers. With such limited upfront parking, the staff should have a different area to park so that the customers can use the spots right up front, however, their staff are always very friendly and I really enjoy working out here!

Ashley N — Google review
This company did a terrible job cleaning/maintaining our pool. We had them do a green to clean in Jan and again in March and then started weekly cleanings at the end of March. The pool was not well cleaned during the second green to clean. I called each week to let them know that the bottom of our pool was still brown and the water was not clear and every week I got an excuse and a promise it would be handled. When the pool was still not clean in May I decided to double check that the work was being done as they stated. I will attach pictures of what they said they did and the actual work done. They were not doing almost any of what I was being charged for. I gave them one more chance this week understanding that it is a busy season and they came once and did not get it clean and said it was all because we need new cartridge filters which they wanted $1,200-1,600 to replace (I will admit it is time to get new ones but this was not the primary source of the problem.) I took the water somewhere else to get a second opinion and the chlorine was 0 even with the pump running 24/7 @100% the new company had me come home and trouble shoot and the actual problem was that the salt cell was not being cleaned and the pool was not making chlorine. So I was paying to have the pool cleaned and maintained and told over and over it wasn’t on them when the truth was they weren’t doing what they were being paid to do. Please do not use this company or trust what they tell you. The pictures below show what they said they did and the condition I found each of these things in right after they left after 2 months of “cleanings”. Also it says they backwashed the filters which is impossible when you have cartridge filters.

If you like simple projects turned nightmare, this is a post for you... $3,000 spent on a simple re-tile job, months of frustration, damage to our property, and within months our pool looks far worse than it did before. We now have additional significant damage as a result of them improperly attempting to do the job multiple times that we’re going to have to pay to have fixed (coping bricks separating from pad due to shifting due to multiple improper drainings). And of course we now have to pay someone else to do the tile job we already paid Swimming Pool Services for. Swimming Pool Services drained our fiberglass pool twice (tried for a 3rd before I told them to stop) without first sumping (we have a sump line - they indicated they didn’t know what it was), they used no bracing any of the 2 times they drained our pool, and then left it empty during rainy days - look up ‘drain fiberglass pool’ to learn how terrible this all is. The whole time, they’ve dismissed our concerns via long drawn out email back and forths and continue to assert that they did everything correctly and are trying to help. After they failed to make things right, I requested a refund, which they’ve refused - they will only agree to keep sending guys out to redo portions of the job the same way that resulted in the problems that we have today. It's always worth mentioning that what was estimated to be a "2 to 3 day job" took more than a month - lots of no call/no show and terrible communication across the board. No thanks. I’ve since spoken to multiple other local FIBERGLASS experts as well as the manufacturer, all of whom assert this was 100% NOT done correctly (with the owner and manager have simply dismissed this, acting as if we’ve only learned info from the Internet. Despite every other expert and resource saying SPS is wrong, SPS continues to assert that they are the experts, even having gone as far as attacking other local businesses work). I’ve been asked no less than 3 times “are you sure they were reputable?”. The manufacture literally put me on speakerphone so everyone could hear my story, to which they responded with gasps, “oh my” and “I’m so sorry”. The warranty manager actually said “it’s a good thing you didn’t have any remaining warranty because that would have definitely voided it - we wouldn’t touch it now”. I’ve also been told that the tiles, grout and adhesive used for the job are incorrect for this size/shape/type of pool, which is something that SPS vehemently argues against - I’ll attach some pictures of the current state of our pool so that you can be the judge for yourself. The Manager (Dave) AND Owner (Glenn) will act as if they’re trying to help, but it’s seemingly just an act to keep things looking positive online (look here and at the BBB for examples). In conversations they remain friendly/polite, but will only offer to continue doing the very things that have led to us now having a damaged pool. I fully anticipate that the owner will follow up on all reviews acting as if they’ve tried to make things right, just as he seemingly does on all negative reviews, but their idea of making things right is continuing to do things incorrectly - ‘the customer is always wrong’, seems to be their approach to customer service. No thanks. Unfortunately there’s a max character count for reviews, so I can’t share everything - though I will be elsewhere. I personally wouldn’t allow these guys to put a bag of salt in my pool going forward. Update based on owner's claims: - The response, as expected, is full of misleading statements in an attempt to come across more helpful than is actually the case. - I turned them away ONCE, not several times. I turned them away because they refused to proceed with repairs without 100% draining my pool and indicated that properly bracing it was out of the question. - Notice he's not mentioning the 'remedy' that they proposed? Because they didn't propose a remedy. They said they would 100% drain my pool, and would not brace it - which is actually the opposite of a remedy.

After they opened my pool water was good for a few days then turned green.Took a sample to store and was told salt was way too high and I needed to drain some water and refill to dilute.I showed them a picture of my intellichol and was told that’s why I had red lights. They were red when they left. And I told them when I went to store. Would up draining about half of pool. Went by the store pay my several hundred dollar invoice and asked for someone to come out and try again called a week later and was told it would be at least another week. Months and months over $800 and green pool Owner I also have spoken with them on phone and in person. I came in on June 28th and did an analysis and was told salt was 5000 and water needed to be drained to dilute. I did not add any salt or anything else to pool this year. I have done business for several years with swimming pool services . You have my name ,phone number, email and street address if you would like to discuss unfair review

Absolutely a complete and other circus. I called April 14 and set up an appointment. Got a time they don’t show up then I call and find out that they completely missed my appointment and did not even call or have the courtesy to let me know that for whatever excuse that they wanted to give, they could not make the appointment speak to Kimberly and tell me that the service manager Will call me last Friday or Saturday to reset the appointment after waiting for three awful weeks and then I called today and get the same dance. Beware of this company they are the worst of the worst of the worst when it comes to accountability and this day and age we don’t need more created crap service providers that will not stand behind what they say and what they will do that translates to their workmanship and we don’t need businesses like this to be standing. I love how they post their response and think that after waiting three weeks and first and foremost me telling them back on April 14 that I have the part and need the labor done that the lady did not say anything and did not have a problem with that. And then after waiting the two weeks and a week on top of that with no phone call or response to say hey we’re sorry we couldn’t make the appointment, I called back and they say wait one more week for the service manager to call you and he doesn’t and then you call back and they say no one‘s here to answer you or acknowledge the situation and that it would take another 3 to 4 weeks for us to get to you What does a person do stay calm after being treated like complete garbage? No, instead they want to act like woke sensitive people from Chicago and not take accountability for their inability to remain professional. Courtesy is not professionalism when somebody waits four weeks for the service manager to respond with any response and you lose your cool because you’ve been treated like garbage, then they say I assaulted them? No, I cut them out because they treated another human being with such utter disregard it does not take away the fact that you lack, actual courtesy because you’re a service provider and you can’t even provide communication let alone service and you think that that’s OK but once you lose your cool after five weeks of waiting, then all of a sudden, the customers the enemy? No sir, you guys are the enemy look at your reviews and how many star reviews you have. You guys are the worst possible option

They are so nice and helpful! Very obvious they know what they’re doing. They Did NOT send me out with 5 millions chemicals and bad instructions on what to do with them, like I’ve run into at other pool supply stores. And I was greeted at the door with an offer to help me get my baby stroller in, which was very sweet.

Wish we could do (1) star . DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! A (Tommy) called after we replied to an invoice attempting to charge for full month of service when we didn’t get (1) visit due to POOR QUALITY SERVICE. Prior we spoke with a Jordan( very nice and great customer skills) the day prior and he advised he would review the photos - the tech WAS NEW: he was younger and he would get back with us concerning our issues- the next day this SAME YOUNG MAN pulled into our driveway of which we advised him we had an issue with his last visit and had contacted Jordan and didn’t want to resume until our issue was resolved. The tech said no problem and pulled away —NO SERVICES PERFORMED. Today Tommy called irrate, rude, and belligerent telling me due to our prior 4 complaints WE COMPLAINED TO MUCH and they would send a final invoice and cancel us.. Thankfully canceling our service was the biggest blessing however we refuse to be ROBBED for services not received. Reviews are very vital in the front ship of ANY BUSINESS ( small or large) and they assist paying customers to be made aware of companies whom fail to provide quality services and value customer service. Hope this helps someone whom values their hard earned money when selecting a company to service their huge investment such as an inground pool.

McNeil Park, nestled in Bessemer's Pipe Shop community, offers a range of amenities including pavilions and a playground. What sets it apart is the presence of the city's only splash pad/outdoor water feature, providing a refreshing escape on scorching days. Despite its small size and limited shade and restroom facilities, visitors appreciate the park for its family-friendly environment.
My daughter had so much fun running around this park! She wasn't ready to go home. I wished it was more more parks like this in Bessemer.

It's nice. But the water park no longer has flowing water. The road is very busy. There aren't very many places to sit, where you can watch the kids play, and be near by at the same time.

Nice place to take the kids if you go mid day. There's a few homeless tweakers that sleep under the pic nic tables. The junkies are what keeps it from being a truly cool place for the kids.

I really hate how you have to be a resident of Leeds when we live just outside the city & spend money mostly in the city of Leeds supporting local businesses. To get to the gate to be denied access because we are not Leeds, Al residents.

Whoever the black woman is you have working there (wish I knew her name) ; she’s freakin Amazing. She immediately identified a part to my pump that was busted, new my pump and pointed me in right direction to purchase. Got the part home and pump is now working like new. Not to be rude but the short fella with the beard was no help at all. Was seconds away from walking out due to him not having enough interest in my problem or lacking pool education to actually help. I actually had the broken parts to show him and we was of no use. 5 stars for the Amazing Woman that helped me. She saved our Father’s Day pool party.

Will never do business with them again.

Every time I go into the store the same salesman tells me they don't have the item I am looking for. Each time he suggests I go somewhere else even though I had already called them or checked their website for the product. The first time he told me they didn't have the baskets for my size pool. Today I saw the part I needed but I won't give my business to someone who obviously doesn't want it. won't go back again.

Pam S — Google review
I hired Leslie’s about two years ago to replace a pump and filter, based mostly on them explaining their incredible warranty. I have been calling for several days to take advantage of this warranty, and have been getting the runaround from the local people as well as corporate. First, I called to get on the schedule three different days. I spent about 20 minutes on hold each time, with a recording which continually states their service department’s job is to get pools running so we can get back to enjoying them. Each time, I would get someone who was apologetic about dispatch not getting back to me (more on that one in a moment). Today, the assistant manager at the local store explained that they don’t have a service technician in the Birmingham area because he quit. “He,” not “they!” He then gave me a kind of “oh well” dismissive tone about it, explaining there was nothing he could do about it, which I believe, based on his position, so I asked to speak to his manager. His manager was polite and respectful, but unable to do anything. I requested to speak to her boss, the district manager, and she spoke with him and assured me he would get right back to me. He hasn’t yet. My favorite has been from corporate, a service rep named Patrick. When I explained the issue to him, and offered a solution of them outsourcing their tech work, he proudly defended Leslie’s policy of not outsourcing technicians. Apparently no service is better than outsourced service. When I told him I was frustrated about not getting a call back from dispatch after three different days of calling in, he asked if I wanted to talk to the service manager about it. When I said yes, he explained that he would contact the dispatcher to pass a message to him. YES! The person who will not return my calls is now to be trusted to pass on a message to his boss about him not returning calls! At this point, I just want my money back and find a more reliable company.
Tom T — Google review
The employees at Leslie's Pool Supplies in Trussville have been great to me. Even though we have had our pool three years, I am still a novice and they have been patient and kind with me, explaining what I need and how I need to use it. Also, I find their prices are a lot more reasonable than most and they do not try to sell me something I do not need. Thank you from a satisfied customer. Mary Adamson
Travis A — Google review
I have received excellent help with water testing and chemical recommendations to keep my pool nice and clear. However, I just purchased their $99 green pool cover for closing which had two defective openings/holes in it that had to be returned. It was exchanged for the same cover and while installing it, there was discovered, in the inner diameter of the pool cover, a raised, defective weak spot. I was able to return it for a full refund. However, I was informed that two upper managers said two defects in a row was highly unlikely and implied it was due to customer error, such as tearing it while opening the box. Two issues, I don't recommend the $99 green cover for closing and the two upper management voiced unacceptable customer service and a staff member put me on hold once for 25 minutes after being told "hold on for just a minute". It's no fun taking off two pool covers and replacing it a third time in this recent, very hot temperatures. I got the cold shoulder from the staff and it wasn't my fault their product was defective.
