Flea & Street Markets
Nambu Market, located in Jeonju, is the largest traditional market in the Jeollabuk Province and has been around for 200 years. Situated near the iconic 18th-century Pungnam Gate and the Jeonju Hanok Village, it offers a wide variety of goods including produce, handcrafted items, clothing, and everyday household products. The market is also a paradise for food lovers with its diverse range of traditional Korean street food and local snacks.
The Nambu night market at Jeonju is famous for street foods. It will be a good destination for street food lovers. The market is start from 5:00 pm. You can make a plan for your dinner with varities item here. I was almost fulled after trying some. The price is also reasonable. In most cases its around 6000 won which is lesser than any other places especially from Myangdong😃. If you visit Jeonju you can put it in your plan at afternoon or evening.
Kamrul H — Google review
Went to the night market, great food and lots of choice. There was a great atmosphere with lots of people all walking round. The beef noodles were great as was the deep fried octopus.
Heather D — Google review
Very lively both at night and during the day. In the morning -afternoon, it's a market selling various things such as vegs and fruits, banchan, kitchen utensils, clothes, wooden tools, flowers, plants and some cafes/ restaurants). At night (I believe only on Fridays and Saturdays) there's a night market, around 50 or so stalls in the middle. Tbh, the morning market is more interesting with authentic experience. The night market only sell modern Korean food, mosty sweet and deep-fried things.
Line S — Google review
2025.9.17 (Wed) I have to admit: I have seen many markets in Korea (Seoul, Busan, Jeju)…..this is the least lively. I came during the day, and midweek. The tourist office says it is “open”. I thot the redeeming factor is the bimbimbap. Even that eatery is closed 😅
L Y — Google review
It's really sad that I see some empty store fronts, especially for the ones outside. But I'm glad to see that there is still a lot of merchants that are able to make it through here. Not sure if like modern centers, do the merchants all pay the market, or does the transaction go to them directly? I also wonder if most of the restaurants here take credit card. If not, it's very limiting. Didn't buy anything, just walked through. BUT there's tons of stuff to get here.
龔振勝 — Google review
Famous market in Jeonju that you should go to. There’s so many snacks, food stalls and ingredients to buy here. Was coming here for snacking after went to Hanok Village. Love the ambiance here. 🥹😍

If you enjoy exploring traditional markets, this one is well worth a visit.
Reginald W — Google review
Maybe it's busy at certain times (early mornings? Weekends?) But whenever I've been there this place has been absolutely empty. The roof area of the youth market is a nice space which I imagine is great fun when busy.

Yetchon Makgeolli is a popular spot where you can enjoy traditional Korean rice wine, known as makgeolli, served in copper kettles. The place has a rustic and authentic vibe that attracts both locals and visitors. The menu includes fluffy kimchi pancakes, duck with enoki mushrooms, fermented crab meat, and aged kimchi in a secret seafood sauce. The drink pairs perfectly with the delicious meal or on a warm summer day.
We enjoyed our local Makgeolli (rice wine) experience here in Jeonju. They have different menu for your party size and quite flexible to accommodate your needs. They serve with Korean style food along the rice wine. Very good local makgeolli (rice wine) in Jeonju. Very local experience to try out. Lots of food and you won’t be hungry at the end. Recommended!
Tomson C — Google review
Situated on the Makgeolli Alley, this restaurans is considered a hot place among rice wine lovers. Famous for its Mkgeolli (rice wine), Jeonju has a lot to offer beside the Hanok village. However I was not impressed by the food at this restaurant. It's just regular Korean menu with nothing special. The wine was good and the staff friendly. The price is balanced.
Melline G — Google review
Legit experience at a local popular makgeolli restaurant. Went there for makgeolli but the food was unexpectedly great too!

This is the best magoli in the area, very smooth and fresh taste. They also provide delicious meals let you enjoy while you wnjoy magoli, highly recommended if you visit Jeonju!!!

Really nice food & rice wine.Tried chestnut rice wine for the first time and it didn't disappoint. The kimchi/pork dish is awesome as well.
Evan W — Google review
A phenomenal experience, and a must do if you are in Jeonju or just Korea in general. The place is so lively and fun and fully of people having a good time. The food is excellent and it just keeps coming! They bring you dish after dish until you can't eat anymore, and it's all complementary with the Makgeolli. We had fish, kimchi, pork, soup, rice, so many things I can't even remember them all, and all very delicious. The staff were a delight, so friendly and helpful and trying to accommodate us in English. I am really impressed and you must go to this place.
Caleb P — Google review
Great dishes paired with makkouli. Very popular with the locals. Seafood served are very fresh too! Highly recommend but it could be busy during your usual peak meal times
Lydia N — Google review
Really cool vibe here. It's flooded with Koreans, and feels really authentic. It's not fancy, rustic feel to it, which adds to the pureness. They actually have 2 locations diagonal from each other. We were directed to the second one when they first was too full. At that rate, we still had to wait to get inside the 2nd one. THAT'S how popular this place is. This is one of the best plain makgeolli's I've had. I enjoy flavored makgeolli more, but this was delicious. The food was very good too. Loved it here!

I waited in the waiting area below for more than 30 minutes and went up because the team in front of me was finished, but they told me I couldn't come 20 minutes late? Haha. I was told to wait at the bottom, so I waited and explained that the team in front of me had finished so I went up, but they were stubborn and told me to wait until the next time. What are you telling me to do when I’m not ready? If this is the case, why do you take phone reservations? This is my first time coming to Jeonju and seeing a place as absurd as this. Kalguksu restaurant
Veteran Kalguksu is a renowned spot in Jeonju, known for its simple yet delicious menu featuring only three items: kalguksu, spicy noodles, and dumplings. The milky broth of the kalguksu sets it apart from those found in Seoul. The restaurant's minimalistic approach to both its menu and service adds to its charm. Visitors praise the flavorful noodle soup and generous portions at affordable prices.
It’s amazing the food here, i specially recommend the cold soy bean noddles. Very very local and fast service. The dumplings and the noodles are the only thing in the menu but wow!!!!! Also a must try the spicy warm noodles with egg
Alejandra M — Google review
We ordered the Kalguksu and Jjolmyeon. The Kalguksu soup was delicious, it had perilla powder and seaweed o top. We both preferred the Jjolmyeon, the noodles were chewy with nice fresh cabbage, zucchini topping and the red pepper sauce just made it more flavourful. :)
Michaela W — Google review
I don’t understand why this place only has a 3,7/5. The kalguksu is the best I’ve had in Korea so far. It’s super tasty with lots of spices and the broth is thick and contains an egg which makes it even more ‘full’. The staff isn’t rude or anything, it was just a bit weird that when she brought over my order the only thing she said was ‘pay now’… Anyway, loved the food and that’s what I came for.
Anouk K — Google review
Very tasty anchovy soup. Noodle texture is good, but too much noodles. Dumpling good too. First restaurant that does not serve kimchi.
Jason L — Google review
Food was delicious. The mangdu (dumplings) were fresh. The kalguksu was a mouth watering bowl. It left you feeling a bit lighter after eaten so much meaty meals during our stay. The price for both mangdu and kalguksu was KRW 17,000. The service was average but efficient. I lower my expectations on hospitality after first few days in South Korea. I just wish I have enough time to try the Hanok gimbab on the same street.
Ing M — Google review
Traditional noodles. Soba was most refreshing and delicious after a hot day of walking. Noodle soup also delicious, slightly spicy. Didn't fancy the Noodles in cold soya bean soup, so so, bland. Prices very reasonable. Highly recommend

When visiting Jeonju, a must-visit spot is 삼백집 본점 (Sambeak House). This renowned restaurant, named after the Korean word for 300, is famous for serving over 300 dishes daily. However, it's said that due to its exceptional taste, they often sell more than 600 dishes in a day.
Their Hanu Seonji Onban (soup with clotted blood from cows) are super delicious to me. Price are reasonable. Highly recommended.
Joey T — Google review
The main branch of the famous bean sprout soup restaurant. Went there for breakfast. Was already crowded. There's a big car park catering to the restaurant across the street. Soup was good especially in the cold weather. Rice comes in the soup. Break the seaweed into the soup.

One of best historical foodie spot in Jeonju... yellow bean sprous soup excellent flavour... the restaurant running by 3rd generation more than 30 years I guess .... very good location in Hanok village ... and 24 hours service time ,....that is Super ~~~~~

If you came to Jeonju, there is some place you should go to. Sambeak House is one of them and I highly recommend this place. Sambeak means 300 in korean which is this restaurant sells over 300 dishes in one day. But I can't agree on that, because it tastes so brilliant that this restaurant could sell over 600 dishes in one day. 🍚

PNB Bakery Main is a renowned establishment in Jeonju, offering an array of delectable baked goods. The bakery is particularly famous for its Choco Pies, available in various flavors and sizes. Customers can enjoy the cozy and charming atmosphere while indulging in a quick breakfast or afternoon snack. The spacious two-floor bakery provides a wide selection of pastries, allowing patrons to fill up their own trays and pay at the counter.
I’m so into PNB products especially chocolate pie, just delicious and perfectly melts in my mouth. Kinda pricey but worth to try. This PNB is the main branch in Jeonju so their products is complete compare to other stores. FYI, there’s no parking area so you have to find one and walk about 7 minutes to PNB. The road around PNB is just crowded and lively in the evening 😍🥰

I got here late afternoon and could only see sweet things, would have liked to try something savory. Nonetheless the Apple Turnover (pie) was nice. Won't hurry back but as an institution, it's worth a visit. Lots of activity in the shop, it is clearly very popular.
Philippa C — Google review
We went at 8.30 am for breakfast and we're quite disappointed with each of the breads and beverages that we ordered. At 8.30 am, I expected the breads to be warm and soft since they were supposed to freshly baked, but I had to use the microwave in the store to warm them up slightly to prevent them from tasting like the previous day's leftovers. The castella was puffy and dry, and the coffee was not tasty either. We ordered the long sausage bread, the sausage bread, the chocolate soboro bread, the castella, an Americano and a latte. Everything was disappointing but expensive. This bakery ends up being a 1 star-deserving bakery that I wouldn't recommend. The only saving grace was how spacious the bakery is.
Michelle N — Google review
Historical bakery in Jeonju. Signiture choco pie is the most famous thing here, but I like all simple bread more. A few branches around Jeonju all same good quality. Must try bakery in Jeon ju.
Roy B — Google review
These sweets are disappointing. They look good, but the taste is not great. They have a really fake flavor that doesn’t taste like real chocolate at all. It seems like they use a lot of artificial colors just to make them look chocolatey, but it’s not true. They remind me of a snack popular when I was a kid called Phoskitos. Plus, everything is wrapped in plastic, which is annoying.
Vittoria M — Google review
Bakery is great, lots of variety of cakes and bakes. The choco pies are a bit too sweet for my liking though, particularly the original one. I tried the original and banana one. Original is like a chocolate donut pastry with cream and jam, dipped in chocolate. Banana one uses banana dough and banana cream.
Susan — Google review
This bakery is huge (two floors) with a wide selection of pastries, though it is most known for its choco pies. Like many other bakeries, you fill up your own tray and pay at the counter. They will cut and heat up your pastries for you if you ask. They will also individually bag each pastry if you are taking the food to-go. I went in the morning, and it was not crowded. I got a choco pie, a hotdog bao, a walnut cookie, and a custard bun, all for less than $10. - Choco pie: The chocolate was too sweet, but the inside was light and tasted like custard. However, it was my least favorite. - Hotdog bao: The bao had a layer of crusted egg on top, which added a nice crunch. Interestingly, the hotdog was also crunchy. - Walnut cookie: It was like eating a cake in cookie form. Very airy but very sweet. Not much filling. - Custard bun: Soft and fluffy.
_ — Google review
As soon as you entered, you were immediately hit by the smell of fresh baked goods - magic! 🤩 The famous Choco Pies were made and packed right before our eyes, which added an authentic character to this place! not to mention the decor that showed the history of the place! The prices varied a lot depending on the items but the Signature Pies were reasonably proces - between 2.300-2.500 KRW 🍪 This bakery is unusual because it also serves as a tourist attraction, so you can see that they make sure that everything is done "for the public", but it is definitely worth going there for the iconic Choco Pies!!! 🤎🍫

Hangugjib Bibimbap is a traditional family-style restaurant located at Eojin-gil 119, open every day from 10.30 a.m. The place is highly recommended by YouTubers and Hanok owners and is known as a Michelin Star Bibimbap restaurant. It offers a spacious premise with a carpark and backyard, providing an authentic home-cooked feel. The menu includes both hot and cold options, with the hot bibimbap being particularly popular.
Before heading to Jeonju Hanok Village, we stopped by this Jeonju bibimbap restaurant. We ordered the 3-person set with yukhoe (beef tartare) and yukjeon (pan-fried beef slices). The portions were generous, and the yukhoe in particular was absolutely delicious.
Michelle Y — Google review
The food was good, however the service was really bad. In the middel of our dinner they forced us to pay the bill already and the AC was turned off since they wanted the customers out 40min before the closing time of the kitchen. It is clear this restaurant, once famous because they served the first bibimbap, now is looking customers that come eat, pay and get out as fast as possible. A pity
Arne C — Google review
The mains were simple, yet delicious. The side dishes were also very tasty, except the bean sprout soup or whatever it was. That didn't have much flavour, but everything else was great. My seafood pancake could have done with maybe another minute or so of cooking because some bits tasted a tiny bit undercooked and had that raw flour flavour. In total I paid 30,000 won. I want to go back to try the raw beef bibimbap. I left feeling full and satisfied.
QM R — Google review
Ordered the dolsot bibimbap. Tasted healthy and fine. Vegetables looked very fresh. The air circulation inside the restaurant was kind of smokey. I ate it once but don’t think I would return. They validate parking for one hour.

It made the Michelin guide for a reason. Pretty great bibimbap, the pancake and beef are quite tasty also. The atmosphere is open and vibrant, simple yet traditional. We had no issues getting a table as walk-ins.
Graeme M — Google review
The waiter accommodated our request and made the Dolsot Bibimbap vegetarian for us. They also refilled the side dishes, which were just as tasty as the bibimbap. I would definitely come back. Highly recommend to vegetarian and vegans 🌱 🥑 who want to enjoy bibimbap!

Korean restaurant
Jeonju Waengi Kongnamul-gukbap is a representative dish of the city, featuring rice with soybean sprout soup. It can also contain chili paste, various vegetables, scallions, seaweed or an egg. The restaurant serving this dish is popular among locals and offers a quick service with side dishes and an uncooked egg on the side. The rich broth and abundance of squids and bean sprouts make the soup delicious, especially on a cold day.
Bean sprouts soup was delicious...their Kimchee was even more awesome! Bean sprouts was crunchy but they are not raw, rightly cooked. Mixed the seaweed with the egg and put some bean sprouts and eat them together...so delicious. It is very simple meal and cheap. Value for the money. Broth might seems blend to some foreigners, but it's that clear broth we are looking for. As Korean says, Ah~ Si-won-ha-da~~~ Literally means it's Cool~~ Having a hot broth but we are calling is Cool~~ hard to explain but we are saying the broth is clearing our throat and make your stomach feels comfortable or feels good. 😆👍😋
Danny K — Google review
***A generous serving of bean soup*** First you can choose between spicy and non spicy. They provide so many beans sprouts and an additional side serving of bean sprouts to you. There is already rice in the soup and they bring you a full bowl of white rice as well. It comes with a half cooked egg. Just add a few tablespoons of soup and seaweed to the egg and mix it up then drink it up.
Yu-Ting — Google review
It was OK. No meat in here, so the big thing about this is that the bean sprout soups with rice is that it's a refreshing soup to have in the summer. Do not bring a big group here. You'll be waiting for a while, and it's a LONG line. We managed to cut in early, because we were only 2 people. It was OK, but for the hype about this being a really good local food? I understand, but I'd rather go with 비빔밥, sorry. But hey, it's a local popular food, and I can say that I had it. Sadly, my star knock-off is my friend say they saw one of the staff members come out of the restroom and didn't wash their hands. The bean sprout soup is very simple but amazing. The service ladies are very understanding and gentle which is amazing! This place is very popular among the locals. The price is very reasonable, yes it's 'only: sprout and rice but they let you refill the banchan freely.

A kongnamul gukbap spot that, supposedly, locals from Jeonju don’t actually eat at. The broth is clear and has just the right amount of heat to lift your mood. Not bad at all.

coming here while waiting for KTX to Seoul. Ordered Bibimbab, Kongnamul Gugbab and Moju (Moju is a thick Korean drink with fairly low alcohol content. It is based on makgeolli—traditional Korean beverage made with fermented rice—which is brewed with herbs and spices that usually include cinnamon, ginger, jujube, ginseng, and licorice root. Moju is lightly sweetened, and although it is traditionally enjoyed chilled, it can also work well as a heated, warm drink. It is usually associated with Jeonju, and it is considered a great hangover remedy that goes well with hearty South Korean soups and stews). This was my first time trying Moju and I love it. Light but unique taste. For me Jeonju has the best Makgeoli and Moju for sure 😍 Everything was delicious 😋

It didn't have a huge impact or it was delicious at first bite but it was a taste that came to mind as I ate It was a taste that was not burdensome The soft tofu was also delicious The tofu curry that I ordered together was not much different except for the tofu in it, but it still felt like it was homemade I also ordered a bean donut for dessert, but there's no picture I think it was made with soybean paste? (Translated by Google) It is a place crowded with locals 365 days a year. Hyundai Ok's operating hours are different at each branch, and the soup tastes slightly different, but I personally like the clean and refreshing soup at the Ajung branch much more than the main branch. Depending on the cooking method, Jeonju Kongnamul Gukbap can be served either in the Toryeom style (when an order is received, cold rice is placed in and out of warm soup and then combined in an earthen pot with boiled bean sprouts and various seasonings. The soup has a clean and refreshing taste) and the boiling style (in an earthen pot from the beginning). A method of boiling rice and bean sprouts. The soup is soft and savory (ex. Sambaekjip). Hyundai Ok is Nambu Market-style soup, which is the most popular among the simple soups. (Gukbap cooked in the traditional style also has its own characteristics at each store. Nambu Market-style bean sprout soup is served with soup and a poached egg, and minced garlic and green onions are added to the soup. Add a lot of it and add boiled squid according to your taste) Rice and side dishes are infinitely refillable, so it's good value for money. I think bean sprout soup tastes even more delicious if you find your own way to eat it. It makes you feel better after eating it, so I recommend it for breakfast, lunch, or hangover. ⚠️Business hours 6:00~14:00 / No parking lot, located in a narrow alley so parking is inconvenient ✅ How to eat deliciously 🔹Normal flavor recommendation: The spiciness can be adjusted with Cheongyang pepper and minced garlic, so the regular flavor may feel spicy, but the mild flavor is too bland. I recommend ordering the regular flavor and taking out the Cheongyang pepper if it is very spicy. 🔹Add 1 serving of squid to share between two people: It tastes better to add squid, but it has a strong presence due to its aroma and texture, so if you add a lot, it becomes squid soup instead of bean sprout soup. It is appropriate to order only one portion and share it between two people. 🔹Poached eggs and seaweed, various uses 1) Before eating soup, add 3-4 spoons of broth and a couple of sheets of seaweed to the poached egg, scrape the egg with a spoon, mix it with the seaweed, and eat a sip or two of the soup. 2) Wrap bean sprouts in seaweed and eat them by dipping them in poached egg broth. Seaweed and eggs soften the fishy taste of bean sprouts. 3) If you get tired of just eating soup, eat it wrapped in seaweed or tear a little seaweed into an earthen pot and eat it all! It becomes more savory 4) If the soup feels spicy, pour the poached egg into the earthen pot. Eggs soften the taste of the soup. I brought guests at a high price, only to be disappointed. If you've had delicious Korean traditional meals (hansik) in Seoul, you might find this underwhelming. The waiting line got longer The amount of street food has decreased a lot. In the past, baguette bread was called Duckko. There was a lot of content The baguette becomes thinner and smaller. It's a little disappointing Still, it’s delicious since it’s been a while since I ate it :) (Original)

(Translated by Google) A few years ago, I visited Jeonju with my family and ate the street baguette burger, which was really the best. This baguette burger, which I ate because of the memories and nostalgia of that time, was a huge disappointment. First of all, the lady at the counter, I don't know if she was the owner or an employee, but she was rude and the counter menu display was all turned off, so I wondered if this was a real business. Next, the baguette burger had thick bread and was very empty. Maybe because there wasn't much filling, the taste wasn't that great. The worst thing was that the baguette bread was too hard. It broke like a baguette cookie and damaged the roof of my mouth. I had high expectations because it was a food that brought back memories of eating it so deliciously with my family, so I went all the way from afar to buy 8 and was excited to feed my family. I'm really disappointed. I don't think I'll be buying it again in the future. If the owner of the Jeonju University branch sees it, I hope he or she feels something. Nestled in the heart of Jeonju Hanok Village, "전주 만년닭강정 한옥마을점" is a must-visit for anyone exploring this charming area. The eatery boasts an inviting atmosphere that perfectly complements the traditional Hanok architecture surrounding it. As you step inside, you'll be greeted by friendly staff and a clean environment, making your dining experience comfortable and enjoyable.
(Translated by Google) The sweet and sour chicken sauce is truly unique. It's made with fruit, so it's different from other sweet and sour chickens. It has a rich, mouthwatering flavor that's truly captivating. The chicken doesn't smell even when it cools...it's savory and delicious. I ordered mild and got the spicy sauce to dip it in. I was truly impressed by the sweet, spicy, and deep flavor of the marinated crab. (My favorite spicy Korean dish is marinated crab.) I'd definitely come back. It's a total bestseller, so I made sure to pick it up at the Mannyeon Dakgangjeong Hanok Village branch, a menu item that never fails. Even with soy sauce, it's not completely spicy, and with a hint of red pepper powder, it's crunchy enough for kids who can eat kimchi. Jeonju Hanok Village offers so many snacks that if you're unsure what to eat, I highly recommend Mannyeon Dakgangjeong Hanok Village branch as your go-to Jeonju Hanok Village food!! If you find yourself wandering through the charming streets of Jeonju, make sure to stop by "시골순대추어탕," a beloved gem nestled in Nambu Market, just a short stroll from Hanok Village. This restaurant has gained quite the reputation, often drawing crowds that spill out onto the street as eager diners await their turn for a taste of its renowned dishes.

For 25,000 won, the assorted sundae comes with a plate of blood sausage, a plate of head meat, a bowl of liquor soup, and a variety of delicious side dishes. If you enjoy blood sausage or blood sausage, this is a must-visit. The pork intestine blood sundae is not tough, but incredibly tender and odorless. The accompanying onion and lettuce salads are especially delicious, and I wish every soup restaurant in Korea offered them. If you enjoy soup, sundae, blood sausage, and head meat, this will be your absolute favorite. It's absolutely delicious. (Translated by Google) It is located inside a residential area, but it seems to be a place with many regulars because it has been in business for a long time. There is a small parking space in front of the store, and when you enter the store, there is a fairly spacious interior. The noodles are served hot, and the price of the noodles is 10. It may seem expensive, but considering the amount of ingredients in the noodles, it is not expensive. Many restaurants these days serve Chinese kimchi, but the homemade cabbage kimchi and radish kimchi seem to differentiate it from other restaurants. The side dishes were generous and came with a seasoning sauce. It seems to be a hidden restaurant where people occasionally take out food during their meal. Korean rib restaurant
Galbi Hankki is a restaurant located at the entrance of Jeonju Hanok Village, offering a set of pork ribs and cold naengmyeon noodles, as well as beef ribs soup. The menu is simple, with options for original or spicy seasoning. Priced at 10,000 won, it's considered great value by many visitors. The owner speaks excellent English and takes the time to explain how to properly enjoy the meal.
My wife and I stopped in right after the cathedral light show. Really great value for ₩10,000; we shared the pork rib meal. Menu is very simple to understand, essentially original or spicy seasoning. The owner has great english and went to the trouble of explaining to us how to properly eat the meal. Despite being in Korea for 9 months already, this was probably one of our favourite proper korean meals. Nice job!
