Mansión Alcázar is an elegant boutique hotel housed in a grand mansion, offering luxurious amenities such as a spa, cocktail bar, and upscale restaurant. Guests can indulge in relaxation at the full-service spa or enjoy complimentary wireless internet access and concierge services.
Royalty. That’s what you’ll feel like. All the things they’ll do for you: open the door, take your luggage, hold your room key for you, treat you with respect, greet you at every moment, and on and on. If you get included breakfast they have vegan options. For us we had the buffet and it had vegan options as well. The room was super clean and the shower was excellent as well as the bathroom. The hotel was a mansion and has excellent quiet gardens to relax in. The lobby is decorated beautifully while you wait for a taxi or your family to pick you up. They offer laundry services among other services as well as call you a taxi service. They can recommend local attractions for you as well.

This is located in the middle of the Historic District in Cuenca and is the old mansion of one of the former mayors of the city. They have converted it into a hotel that is absolutely stunning. They have a complimentary breakfast that will satisfy any American and Cuencanos alike. The rooms were magnificent. We stayed in one of the outer rooms in the back and loved the walk through the garden to get there. The staff was amazing they gladly accommodated every ask we made. This place is 5 stars all the way!

This was a great experience. The hotel is located in a old historical building in a great central location of cuenca. It is absolutely beautiful. One of the stars was the staff - they are extremely on top of everything an helpful. I have never met people this great. The morning breakfasts too have been spectacular. I think its nice to be in a smaller hotel. I love the heating pads they bring you. Its a nice rustic hotel! the only things I would have to say is at night if someone is talking or walking you can hear everything
Viking S — Google review
Beautiful hotel with exceptional service - the front desk and the restaurant staff were excellent - very responsive. Housekeeping was great as well. Great location and quiet in the back of the hotel. Gracious old world atmosphere. Breakfast could have been slightly better (eggs in particular) and a few food items ran out so we couldn't order the dish we most wanted.
Justin G — Google review
This hotel is beautiful! We stayed in the building out back so we had to walk through the garden every time we went to our room and it was spectacular. The service is top notch, they take care of everything. The room it self was pristine. They have onsite laundry if you need it. Just two blocks away from the Park Calderon which has a huge selection of restaurants. Worth every penny staying here.

We had an absolutely wonderful time at Mansion Alcazar in Cuenca. Our room was beautiful, and the grounds of the hotel were absolutely stunning. The service we received was also incredible!! The hotel is in the perfect location and we plan to return the next time we are in Cuenca! Gracias por todo.

Hotel Santa Lucia is an elegant lodging option located in the heart of Cuenca's historic district. Housed in a beautifully restored 19th-century mansion, this charming hotel offers a nostalgic ambiance and luxurious accommodations, making it an ideal choice for couples seeking a romantic getaway. With colonial architecture and modern amenities, guests can enjoy a cozy and comfortable stay while experiencing Cuencan heritage. The hotel features two restaurants, a lounge, free parking, and friendly staff ready to provide unparalleled hospitality.
Julian was an amazing host at the restaurant, and Doña Carmita always had a smile and asked how we were doing. In general, all the front desk and housekeeping were amazing. Very friendly. Help us in anything that we need. The hotel is near everything. Walking distance for all the stores and restaurants and shops. Had a parking as not as close but very convenience. The breakfast was excellent. A little of everything and the food at the restaurant was great!
Maribel L — Google review
Spent 3 weeks traveling throughout Ecuador and this hotel was the worst experience we had. We enjoyed all the others, from 5 star hotels to remote lodges, all were fantastic and memorable. I should have read and believed the lower end reviews on this hotel. Our room was essentially a closet next to the kitchen with no ventilation, faint odor of mildew and a continuous stream of banging pots and pans until late into the night. There is no amount of paint, “modern” accessories or posh bath products that can disguise capitalism at its worst. This hotel is resting on long ago accolades. Service was poor bordering on hostile, food was adequate and spectacularly overpriced. Do yourself a favor and find another place to stay. We had a 4 night reservation and left after one night. If you plan on going anyway and not leaning into this review then please stay far, far away from ANY room on the first floor.
Natasha B — Google review
My real gripe is with the restaurant. You cannot fill the wall with French plaque accomplishments and serve subpar food. The risotto was terrible. Ecuador has excellent chocolate options, and some restaurants take pride in providing information on which brand of cacao they are using. We ordered two hot cups of coco and were really surprised to get them -in the main restaurant- from an automatic powder-and-water machine. This shouldn't even been charged. Nine dollars for this is preposterous! Don't even get me started with the room shower and toilet.
Daniel H — Google review
The age of the building is charming and makes it beautiful and it’s also the only thing that holds back the rooms from getting 5 stars. Mostly the shower but still great.
Richard N — Google review
Loved this hotel. Staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The rooms are very clean and very comfortable. The breakfast is excellent, good portion fresh and high quality. The location is perfect too.. totally recommend

My favorite place to stay in Cuenca. Only thing that’s regular is breakfast. Soooo close to everything!

Very cool building with great sitting areas, nice rooms..clean, comfortable and sizeable. Location could not be better! Slhreat restaurant on site. About 20 rooms so quaint and quiet. Nice breakfast buffet.
Rebecca C — Google review
Very close to downtown. A quiet old house with clean and charming rooms. The breakfast is optional for $6.50 but it’s worth it. Not fancy but is a good start (coffee, fresh juice, yogurt with fruit and granola, omelets, and bread). The staff is very friendly and helpful. If you don’t have knee problems I suggest to ask for the rooms on the second floor. Otherwise the rooms on the grounds are also nice.

Nestled in the heart of Cuenca, Hotel Carvallo is a charming blend of colonial elegance and modern comfort. This beautifully restored property features warm, inviting rooms adorned with original details like carved wooden ceilings and antique rugs, creating a serene atmosphere for guests. With two lovely atriums and a 24-hour café on-site, relaxation is always within reach.
What a great find!! We were absolutely in love with this place! Fantastic hospitality, delicious breakfast, comfortable cosy rooms and the location is perfect! Every morning you literally wake up with a smell of coffee and fresh bread, no more sleep after that treat. Breakfast bar has options for all: eggs, sausages, yogurt, granola etc and if you have any special request, be sure they will make it happen! The staff went above and beyond to make sure we are comfortable, made all of the arrangements for our travel (including some breakfast for the airport) and our accommodations were upgraded to a suite with a most gorgeous private living room. Majority of the rooms have windows facing inside of the building (historic building), but managed quiet hours made it perfect for all of us not to be bothered with noice. There are no elevators in the building, consider that when booking (!). Overall our experience was so pleasant that we won’t think twice where to stay when we are back!
Tatiana — Google review
This is a review of their lunch which was only $3.5 and comes with a drink, small soup, popcorn, and main. The building is pretty fancy like others mentioned and I'm surprised the lunch was this cheap for the quality and fanciness of the place
Guiping X — Google review
Rooms are dirty. Found spiders in mine both nights I was there. The service is nice at times depending on who's at the front desk. The location is great. There are SEVERAL better options in Cuenca in my opinion.
Mehul D — Google review
His rooms were good, but they had no ventilation in them or no air conditioning in them making it feel very enclosed and stuffy. The people at the service desk were great and very helpful and easy to work with.!

Mr. Luis and his family, from what I understand are the new owners of this elegant hotel. The Resturant has some Guatemalan dishes as that is where they are from. Luis has lived in Quito for many years and has 30 years in hospitality. The food was delicious and service was attentive. I love all the plants and history of the building. Such a charm of a place. Look for the big White and Blue Guatemalan flag out front of the hotel’s entrance, the sign is a bit elegant to stand out downtown.

A wonderful family owned and run hotel in the historic district - perfect location. We where there for 7 nights and it was like staying with family. Joshua went above and beyond to make our stay pleasant. Arlene, his sister, is an accomplished chef and kept us fed for breakfast all week, as well as providing our last dinner in Cuenca through their on-site restaurant Kolibri. We will definitely stay here again when we return to Cuenca

By far my favorite place I stayed in Ecuador. The hotel is extremely nice, has a ton of character, and the staff is so friendly. Hotels pass by in my mind, but this one stands out to me as a top tier place to stay. Highly suggest staying here if it works for your plans!
Sam N — Google review
Nice Hotel, very central location. The rooms are facing the large lobby an have no windows - actually a benefit as (except the breakfast preparation at 7am) it is very quiet in the rooms. The tram is right in front of the door so stopping the car e.g. to unload baggage, is not possible for more than 1min... Breakfast is ok

Located in the heart of Cuenca, Four Points by Sheraton Cuenca offers modern and comfortable rooms, an indoor pool, and a cozy restaurant with city views. Situated within the largest shopping center in the city, Mall del Rio, guests have direct access to over 200 stores, a food court, and cinemas. The hotel also provides convenient amenities such as a business center, gym on the terrace with scenic views, sauna, Turkish bath, and whirlpool.
Went for the futbol game, the dining room, service and itinerary was good. The food could have been just a bit warmer, but it was tasty. Dessert presentation was off the charts.
Ron D — Google review
Closed gym, pool and all cool stuff for two weeks and during my stay - the information about it was just a short text in the confirmation email - they say it’s for cleaning however I would have appreciated if they close just one thing and not everything at once. I compared the prices to other weeks and this was also same price.
Leo F — Google review
Called from Azogues to see if I could use the internet for an important meeting as we have power cuts in Ecuador. Person in reception said "no problem if you buy a drink". No problem, so I drove 30 mins and upon arrival was informed that I had to buy a drink PLUS a plate of food. This was utterly appalling as they moved the goal posts, clearly. I had to complain to a manager and they eventually relented to just the drink. They were hardly busy anyway and it felt so uncomfortable and that they were taking advantage of the power outages everyone is suffering from. Nonetheless, I won't be going there again as my "go to" place when power cuts are crippling Ecuador. You lose out FOUR POINTS.
Mark D — Google review
Absolutely horrible experience, with abysmal service throughout the entire stay. Particularly terrible service at the bar / restaurant area, rude and unhelpful staff throughout. They also charge a hidden 15% service fee NOT included in reservation prices.
Nicolas G — Google review
Incredible facilities and service. Julia and the events team are true professionals. Cannot recommend this hotel highly enough for vacation or business trips.
Shawn W — Google review
This is a very good hotel and the staff are friendly and approachable. The rooms are comfy and we had a upgrade to a suite, which was bigger that our flat at home! Breakfast was good and the fruit selection was nice. Get there early, as the hot food goes cold if you're late. Location is ok, the mall next door is pretty good. If you want to go into the old town its a 30 minute walk or a taxi ride. If you contact in advance, they will arrange a free airport transfer, which was much appreciated
Paul A — Google review
Not a good experience. So far I haven’t had a good night sleeping. The mattress is old and I had requested to change it several times without no result. The wall has cracks and at the time of check in there was garbage on the floor. So far the only recommendable thing is the breakfast buffet
Blanca R — Google review
Good location. Right of the highway. The service was very good. Breakfast was good. Food at the restaurant is also good. A mall is right next to it, so you can go shopping, watch a movie, go bowling, eat at the different restaurants in the food court (mostly delicious Ecuadorian food). The only thing I can say it was a negative was that there was no hair dryer in the room. I was pressed for time, so I couldn't even request for one, pretty sure they would have brought me one.

We recently stayed for a long weekend and truly enjoyed Hotel Oro. It lives up to its 5 star status. Very nice spacious rooms with comfortable king bed and heated floor in the bathrooms. Amazing staff and service, very attentive. Excellent breakfast buffet, high quality food. The front lobby has a piano often times has someone playing the piano. There is also a great coffee, tea and warm canelaso apperitif. You will not be disappointed

They have not released my deposit and its been OVER A MONTH since I checked out. I have emailed the CFO and the Manager about this matter as nobody else has been able to help me. UPDATE 9.30.24 This is an update to my review above. This was a complete misunderstanding between me and the rep. Right after I reached out to the executives they immediately responded and said they will look into this matter. It took a few more weeks, however, over a conversation with the CFO, while he was about to refund $200, we noticed that I was charged the correct amount and I was confused with what the initial rep said via text. I thank Bayron Vallejo & Cristian Serrano for their patience with me and explaining everything. I take responsibility for perhaps not fully understanding the situation, which is why I am overturning my first review. I appreciate their attention and excellent customer service. I will certainly recommend this hotel to my friends and family!

The menu for Buffet service should be wider and not just very limited with 3 proteins and a lot of carbs, the juice are really poor quality more water than fruit 🥹 I hope they could include more sea food on the menu for Fridays night 💖💖🫰🏻

This was my wife’s and I first time visiting this hotel. Their free shuttle service was on-time picking us from the airport. The check in staff was helpful. The room was clean. The restaurant staff were very attentive. They were kind to give us some free juice when we showed up the first night around 10 PM. One of the staff remembers, Luz, made the difference. We told her that we were visiting Cuenca to celebrate our 10 year wedding anniversary. Surprisingly, she gave some tiramisu cake as courtesy during our last breakfast there. It was a nice gesture of her. On a negative note, they were changing the carpet on the corridors near our room. These repairs did not allow us to sleep late. There was noise and a heavy smell of glue that came through the doors. I am sure the hotel will shine to other visitors once these repairs are done.

The hotel boasts an Art Deco style and provides top-tier amenities such as a sauna and a 24-hour fitness center. Guests can indulge in Asian cuisine at the on-site restaurant, Goda, or enjoy room service.
The hotel was very nice and their breakfast buffet was good. Specially the waiter that took care of us (Diego?) He was there on Tuesday n Thursday. He was very courteous and tentative and he even made a special drink for us on our last day of our stay.
Manuela C — Google review
Great location, somewhat expensive for what it is. Rooms clean and comfortable if a bit dated. Service and staff generally good and friendly. The lift is a bit annoying however, and occasionally the water from the shower stops, possibly due to demand, but nonetheless not the best experience. Good breakfast options too
Neville V — Google review
Pros: clean rooms. Great location. Cons: rooms do NOT HAVE AIR CONDITIONING! In order to cool your room (not a whole lot), you have to keep your windows OPEN. THIS MEANS VERY NOISY STREET SOUNDS. The hotel’s breakfast is below average. Breakfast is RICE AND GUATITA, plantains with eggs/cheese (yum), toast, bacon, omelette made upon request. Coffee is not that good. While eating our breakfast, we were solicited by a homeless person for money. Then they are closed until Lunch at 12:30.

Hotel Cruz del Vado is a historic gem in Cuenca, offering impeccably refurbished spaces that exude charm and history. The rooms provide exquisite views and a touch of the city's past, while the expansive terrace offers impressive vistas including the iconic blue-tiled domes of Cuenca's cathedral. Situated in a prime location, this hotel provides stunning skyline views and features allergy-free rooms, a terrace, and a restaurant serving local and international cuisine.
Beautifully decorated, super friendly and helpful staff. The rooms are comfortable. Ask for the luxury rooms that face the river. The only negative is the restaurant service. The kitchen can't get the food and the beverages timely and together, but it tastes delicious plus the view from the restaurant is great!
Sula M — Google review
This is one of the most beautiful hotels we've ever stayed in, especially when the price is considered. This has some sort of Michelin status as a luxury hotel. The art here is varied and extensive. The views from the rooms do not exist, but from the top floor restaurant, they are fantastic. The free breakfast was amazing, as was the service. The one issue is that vehicles have nowhere to stop near the entrance, and I'm not sure where you would park a car if you drove here. Our cabs had to drop us and pick us up at a square down the street. It's not a good situation if it's raining, but the staff are very helpful.
Brian S — Google review
I made a reservation to have a breakfast here with my girlfriend on a Saturday at 9am. They asked for my ID and $20 in advance to make the reservation. We arrived 9am sharp. When we arrived we were sat and the waitress gave us this menu with 5 simple options. We were not impressed at all. She took so long in taking our order. Mind you, there were 3 other tables. I had to flag her down to get her attention. They took around 15-20 min to bring us a very terrible coffee and then they brought us bread and have us knifes for butter but no butter. It was already around 10am and our food was nowhere to be seen. The waitress never came back for coffee refills or even to let us know they were taking a long time for two simple breakfast dishes. We were completely ignored. Enough was enough, we were not going to stay 2 hours in one place for breakfast, we had places to go, things to do. We completely wasted our time here, this is so disappointing and disrespectful for them to make tourists wait this long for breakfast in such a “high end” place. They wasted our morning, our Saturday and our time. They gave us back my $20 and didn’t charge us for their dirt coffee but $20 does not repay all the wasted time and disrespect. I do not recommend eating in this rooftop at this hotel, so far this is the only negative experience we had in Cuenca so far. These people do not respect your time. Thank you for ruining our Saturday morning, bravo! Mediocrity at its peak
French — Google review
The pictures in this hotel offer something completely different of what it actually offered. I would say the rooftop/restaurant area are above and beyond, the service and breakfast were really good. But when it comes to the pricing and the actual room where you have to sleep, leave a lot to be desired. For example, the pictures show open windows with curtins, but you are actually looking at the hallway, if you get one of the two suites offered, only the you will get a street/river/mountain view on a not "private balcony" (anyone can access it). The hotel claims they do not have a ventilation system in the rooms because the municipality does not allow to install it because of the "historic building" which is built on. So you are paying pretty much a 5 star hotel for a "nice room" which pretty much feels like a sauna. I have been to cuenca many times and actually felt cold in the rooms in other properties, but here, i had to ask the front desk for 2 fans because the heat was unbearable. All of the rooms, except for the 2 suites, do not have windows and face the hallways. I never used my room key because you could fisically open your hallway window, and open your door. Bathrooms and rooms where spotless (they could use better toiletries to get your money's worth). The hotel is nice, but definitely not worth the money paid. Definitely would never stay here again. I am attaching the real photos of the rooms you actually get

What a great place to stay! The service was absolutely amazing. Each person was very helpful and attentive. The room was clean and comfortable. The location was a tad difficult to find (we drove in and it was a crazy time to find parking), but once we found it, it was perfect for exploring the amazing city. Our room was a tad small and the food was decent.

Hotel Victoria is a classic Colonial-style hotel in Cuenca, offering river views and an eclectic mix of brick, dark-wood walls, storied staircases, and sparkling chandeliers. It's conveniently located near the old town and offers well-appointed rooms with wood paneling and luxurious draped fabrics. The hotel also features a restaurant serving fresh local ingredients and a bar offering cocktails.
Beautiful boutique hotel right on the river and center of Old Cuenca. Our room had floor-to-ceiling windows that overlooked the river. The service was great. We were greeted with hot tea and there were small snacks for us in our room. Breakfast is served to your table, and includes fruit, bread, coffee, juice and eggs.

An excellent hotel. Nice staff, fair prices, great location, fancy breakfast included.

This hotel is beautiful, architecturally spectacular, beautiful decor and comfortable rooms. The staff are very attentive and treat you so well, you do not want to leave, and I can't wait to come back. The breakfast was fantastic each day and included with my room. The rates were spectacular since I avoided the Easter holiday week. I loved how they were continually improving the hotel to keep it clean and fresh. Way to go, Hotel Victoria!!!

My wife and I came in here on a quick one day trip to Cuenca. This was by far one of the best hotels we’ve stayed at in Ecuador if you spring for the balcony, you will love the views. Employees are very helpful and nice.

Best hotel in the old city HANDS DOWN. Perfect location, high-end interior, and excellent food. The service is outstanding.

We stayed here on our exploratory trip, but now that we live in Cuenca, we return with some frequency just to enjoy the bar and excellent food. The wait staff are unassuming and so very professional. We've never had anything that was delicious. We would certainly put of friends in the hotel with its inclusive breakfast. A grand old building and good el Centro location.

Absolutely one of the best hotels in Cuenca. Very nice rooms with a view over the river and the lower part of the city. Location of this hotel is perfect on Calle larga

We went here for lunch, we were told that this a nice place to eat. We were not disappointed, the service was excellent he table was just the right size. We sat by the window where we had a nice view of the trees, the traffic noise was acceptable and not constant. The ambiance of the restaurant was very nice and the menu was quite extensive. All of our choices were received well except for one desert that was not a expected, but it did not go to waste. The bathrooms are worth look nice stained glass windows. Definitely a place to return for nice surroundings food and conversation, do not let the price put you off.

It was a pleasure to stay at the hotel not only because of the beauty of the acomodaciones, the polite and friendly staff but also the help that I received from the staff helping to find my ID that I forgot in another location. I can’t thank them enough for their help. 🙏 Thank you Hotel “ Los Balcones” for make my staying wonderful in the Beautiful Ciudad of Cuenca. 💕👏

Located in the center of the historic district, Los Balcones is well known among foreign tourists and locals. Service was impeccable, the rooms are a bit dated but I was only there for two nights so I didn’t care. The breakfast wasn’t bad at all, as well as the one dinner I took there.
Sébastien A — Google review
It was a nice stay. It did exceed my expectations. I’d be back. Food kinda pricey. Very close to the tram. Breakfast is ok for the price. Some people have said it’s noisy but it has at least 3 layers to protect from outside nose, but hey!, you can’t expect nature’s sounds when in the middle of bustling cuencan historic downtown.
Jorge C — Google review
Central hotel with a lot of rooms in the middle of the city. Very good for walking around the city center. Good clean rooms, the bed was ok. Restaurant offer a lot, taste good, fast service. Breakfast ok, in form of a small buffet with local food. You can order also different special things for breakfast. Friendly service at the reception desk, and also in the service in general.

My husband and I stayed here in May for 10 days. We stayed in an apartment which was nice. It is a beautiful hotel with the nicest and most helpful staff. The hotel is very quaint and they have a restaurant which is very good. They serve breakfast on the top floor and it has a lot of variety. We found it very quiet at night and the bed was very comfortable. We enjoyed our stay in this hotel and wholeheartedly recommend it. It is a short walk to Parque Calderon.
Johnney C — Google review
A delightful hotel, apparently converted from an old mansion, it retains a certain air of dignity and has been tastefully redecorated. The staff are warm, polite and go to great lengths to make sure one feels welcome and looked after. Breakfast buffet is good, the coffee is tasty and strong. The wonderful cathedral is just a short walk away too so the location is excellent. Would stay here again for sure.
Sydney M — Google review
Very comfortable, charming and unique hotel. They have made it very comfortable despite being a 180 year old converted mansion. The breakfast was delicious, best we had in Ecuador. Staff are very friendly and helpful. The doorbell system is a bit annoying but it does provide a high degree of security. Bathroom was nice with modern shower. Bit of street noise at night in the balcony room but not unexpected. They offered luggage storage for us (twice). Would stay there again! Highly recommend.
Katie C — Google review
Staying at Hotel Boutique Los Balcones felt very historical, with antiques and grand décor throughout the hotel. The lobby was absolutely gorgeous. I didn’t see any elevators, so if you have trouble walking up the stairs, make sure to request a room on a lower floor (total of 3). The room was spacious, but I wish it had a bit more of a modern touch; perhaps that’s the time period design the hotel was going for. The bathroom was renovated, though, with very nice spa-like shower stalls. WiFi worked great, where I was able to have Zoom calls without issues. The staff were overall friendly, being helpful at the front desk and the breakfast buffet. The hotel was pretty quiet as we didn’t see too many guests during our stay. Location-wise, it is about a 5-7 min walk to Calderón Park. Totally walkable, but do budget some extra time as the sidewalks are often crowded with tourists.

On the day I was leaving to go to the airport a presidential visit shut down all routes to the airport. Christina, who was running the hotel, took special measures to get me to the airport on time and safely! Santa Lucia was a very clean and professional hotel and I will definitely stay there on my next trip! Thank you!

Beautiful, cozy place with a great location, but above all, GREAT service. Our flight arrived a lot earlier than expected, and Domenica (who works at the front desk) was able to accommodate us to an earlier check-in without any problem. She was also very attentive and even helped us find a couple of tours to get a thorough view of the city. Highly recommend this place
Alejandro Y — Google review
We stayed a week here and both the service and atmosphere were wonderful. Highly recommend a stay here. You will get street noise anywhere you stay in Cuenca. But the walls of the hotel are almost 2 feet thick and most street noise is muted. We heard a guest complaining that there was no air conditioning in the rooms which is kind of funny as no one in Cuenca has AC or heating. It's just not needed as the city is the perfect temperature year round.
David R — Google review
Very nice hotel with good service. Comfortable room. Very good breakfast. It could just be a bit quieter as the rooms are above the main hall so you hear people talking, especially in the morning. Otherwise it's located very close to the main attractions in a safe neighborhood.
Ella — Google review
Beautiful Victorian style house in a convenient location. I got room #12 which is a quiet room with great privacy - I absolutely loved it! Other rooms may have some foot traffic. All staff were extremely friendly and helpful. I bothered them frequently for heating up leftovers, they were so nice and patient that they always made sure the food temperature was perfect. Breakfast is amazing. The restaurant doesn’t currently serve lunch or dinner but there is a big nice restaurant right next door, some options within 1-2 blocks’ walk, and tons of deliveries via Rappi. There is a supermarket 3/4 block away. Wifi is sufficient. Bonus point - there is a piano room too! Everything was perfect, this will be my go-to place whenever I’m in Cuenca!

Our family had a great vacation, but I do think a few things are important to note before you book. We booked 2 ocean side villas. Pictures online are deceiving. I have attached photo of our patio below. While we were close, it opened to the pool area. To pay the price we paid it was disappointing to not have the ocean view. Food and drinks were mediocre. Hotel was busy but not overly crowded. They must have been understaffed. It was normal to wait 30+ minutes for a table for breakfast. Hotel lobby has sushi but not available at every table because we were told not enough staff. We ended up eating off property for dinner the rest of our trip. Some great dinner spots. Staff was friendly and helpful. Beach is wide and great for kids. Free popsicles at noon everyday and they offer a few toys to check out to use for beach. Secure chairs early in the morning. Fitness area is really nice. Felt safe for children and teens.

Amazing hotel. Unfortunately, a month in advance we requested a crib and Hotel San Juan confirmed they would have a crib at no extra cost. I am sharing images of the crib which completely fell apart. My little girl could have been seriously injured. I requested another crib and the hotel said if they would go and purchase a crib, I would have to pay an additional $36.50 USD per night.

Amazing hotel. Room was clean, the view was wonderful, and the food was great! David, one of the front desk staff, was super helpful and kind. The jacuzzi in our room was nice and relaxing. The shower water was nice and warm. There were quite a few restaurants around so we didn't have to take a taxi as much. The hotel was about a 10 to 20 minute walk to the center of Cuenca. Loved how calm it was around the hotel at night. Would definitely stay here next time we go back to Cuenca.

It’s clean, modern, and the personnel is kind. The building is nothing exceptional but it does the job. I think the small suites are good enough because they have a large window, floor to ceiling. The presidential suite has a jacuzzi but it’s windows are smaller. Great location because is close to Uda and the river. Breakfast is a buffet with everything. There were local food options too.

This gorgeous boutique hotel is a gem! We were so lucky to find it (after an awful experience at the hotel where we had originally made a reservation)! The hotel owner himself, José, welcomed us, made us feel at home, safe, and made our check-in experience perfectly seamless. The hotel personnel is kind, warm, welcoming, accommodating, and attentive. The hotel itself is an antique colonial house that was refurbished, keeping as many traditional elements as possible. Beds are rock hard and walls are paper thin. You will hear every car or person outside. Bring your earplugs and you should be alright. They have coffee ready all day to help you stay awake after not getting any sleep. Additionally, the staff are super friendly. With some sound control, better mattresses, and amenities (like ice) I would give it 4-5 stars.

Disappointed. It looked much better in pictures than it really was. Small crummy room. And very tight bathroom. I couldn't close the door without getting in all the way and touching the wall, and i am a small person. Also it is very loud. On a first floor i could here people walking very loud above me. Also all night i could hear someone snoring! Very uncomfortable.

Beautiful hotel which is over 200 years old. If you are into old, old fashioned hotels, you will love this hotel. The only issue we had was with the WiFi in the second floor, it was down although it did work by the front desk. Also, the wooden floors make a lot of noise when you walk on them, specially in the room I slept in.

Very professional, and friendly. They let us feel at home. The location is great. The rooms are comfortable, and the views are awesome. The venue has its own historical value. You can check their website and browse throughout all the amazing photos. I do highly recommend Hotel Casa del Aguila if anybody has plans to visit Cuenca - Ecuador. It is close to everything as well. Thanks for a great stay with my family and my sister's in law family. Great memories!

I truly enjoyed my stay at this beautiful and affordable location. However, I did have a couple of suggestions for improvement. Firstly, I think it would be great if the breakfast buffet could be kept fully stocked until the official end time of 9am. Unfortunately, I experienced a shortage of food options when I arrived at 8:30am. Additionally, I found myself needing to visit the reception area frequently to request basic amenities like towels and toilet paper. Perhaps having these essentials readily available in the rooms or making them more easily accessible would enhance the overall guest experience. Overall, the location has great potential, and with a few tweaks, it could truly excel.
Melissa P — Google review
Strongly recommend to avoid this hotel at all costs. The service is subpar, almost aggressive. Once upon a time, it was a beautiful hotel, but has since been abandoned to its decline. It’s dated, dirty, and the people - awful. Cuenca is a wonderful city - do not let this place ruin your stay.
Elena P — Google review
The hotel has a lot of character and I liked the wood floors and doors. The employees were very nice and friendly. But my room was rather small and lighting in the bathroom could have been better. Breakfast was simple.
Andreas E — Google review
We had a very bad experience at the front desk. They book the suite that we reserved 4 months in anticipation to other two guests. They were very unprofessional to resolve the issue . Perhaps it was just an insolated issue , but it really ruined our days in Cuenca , and the place it is not what we anticipate
Julio A — Google review
The place and rooms are pretty, but they are a few shortcomings: you can only pay by card if you accept 10% overcharge; wifi is so weak as to be unusable and there is no cellular range within the rooms; breakfast is limited — although it is free buffet, we were suggested to only take moderate rations and butter only upon request (mini butter ration); hot water goes on and off.
Migua — Google review
Great place! With a good breakfast. Only negative: the rooms are not insulated and you can hear everything. The bell of the hotel entrance as well as the main door are annoying
M R — Google review
I have been staying on the top floor overlooking the garden for several weeks. The hotel staff (Andres, Adriana, Lorena, Alba, Carmen, Marina, and others) are caring, helpful, and like family. Breakfast is plentiful and delicious; staff accommodated me for vegan foods. The coffee is smooth, best I’ve ever had. Everything is super clean and beautiful. I love the balconies and the birds in the back garden. This is a historic patrimonial house so you hear noise from other guests coming and going, but most nights everyone is settled down by 11pm. Convenient location. Don’t miss the Mexican restaurant around the corner with rooftop dining and other restaurants nearby Parque San Sebastián. Thank you for a wonderful stay Hotel Casa del Águila!!!

We had a great stay at this hotel. It has a great location within walking distance to all the main attractions in Cuenca. There are always lots of people walking around the area which made it feel safe in the evening. The room was very clean and the beds comfortable. The staff was very friendly and helpful. They accommodated our early tour by preparing breakfast for us earlier than usual and helped coordinate a transfer to the airport. The price was very reasonable for the high value we received.

Lovely B&B with very friendly, helpful staff in a fantastic location. I had one night with other guests in the hotel so could tell that there is next to no soundproofing when people are walking around and having conversations, hence dropping a star. On the other nights I was the only guest so it was perfectly quiet & comfortable for me. Breakfast was excellent - plentiful and all fresh, homemade options. I also liked the little roof terrace for morning meditation and afternoon sun. I did find it expensive but that seems to be the case with accommodation options in Cuenca unfortunately.
Olivia A — Google review
Stayed here for 3 nights over Easter. Our room looked lovely in the photos. But the reality was it was noisy. Both from the street below, and inconsiderate guests on the landing. Terrible sheets on the bed and the toilet bin hadn’t been emptied from the previous guests. Breakfast was not that great. Buffet style and Poor coffee. For the price, I expected better. Reception Staff were very helpful and found parking for us nearby at a reasonable rate.

The Hostel is near the centre. The reception helps with questions and gives advice for the city. The rooms are big, the beds comfortable, but its cold in the rooms during night and the duvet is to thin. You can hear the street from our room, you can hear everything from the hallway and i mean every word. We did not get a good sleep unfortunately.

This place is incredible. The staff is so friendly and helpful, and the location is perfect for exploring the historic Center of Cuenca. Plus, there are cats. Edit: I came back! I loved this place so much it was worthy of a return. I stayed one week in the Balcony Suite. My only complaint which I didn’t notice last time is there is an area of the room that has practically no WiFi (the bed, where I wanted to use it the most). I think an internet repeater upstairs would be very helpful in remedying this. As per my previous review, the staff is very accommodating and friendly. They (plus the cats) make this an enjoyable stay.
Brian W — Google review
Absolutely wonderful place to stay. It’s centrally located and the rooms are beautiful. The staff members are so kind and friendly. They helped me get a taxi to the airport very early in the morning and facilitated a late night check in when my bus to Cuenca was delayed. The real reason to come to Pepe’s is the boss, Empanada. Empanada loves to be pet and keeps every at the hostel in line. (Empanada is a cat.)

The newly renovated rooms have amazing balcony doors and windows. The soundproofing is surprisingly look considering it's on a fairly main street and overlooks the Plaza de San Francisco. What a fabulous location. Be sure to check out the bustling city market just around the corner.

Two blocks away from Plaza Calderon, the Cofradía is a pretty great place and quite affordable in comparison to other hotels in the area. We booked a deluxe room and were given the King room which offered spectacular views of the cathedral domes. The rooms are traditional but bathrooms have been updated. Water pressure is good for an enjoyable shower. The staff is very helpful and nice. A great value in a great location!

Had the best time here. To start, the food is amazing; big menu and my friend had no problem getting a vegan option for her. Drinks are amazing, good size and tasty and cheap compared to other upscale places. The staff was very accommodating considering there was at event at the restaurant at that time. We got in through the main hotel entrance. Would go back if I visit Cuenca again for sure

Excellent place. The hosts were extremely kind, the place was super clean (I am picky with that) and the food was delicious. Definitely, I would return there.

I just came here for drinks, and unable to comment on food or accommodation. The service was excellent, the drinks were OK. Cocktails were overly sweet, and beer selection was modest, prices were higher than average BUT it was a very comfortable and clean place to hang out.

This restaurant just opened on Presidente Cordova at Padre Aguirre, right opposite San Francisco Plaza. It is in a beautifully restored space. A friend and I had lunch there a few days ago. We received a very warm welcome from our waiter, who spoke perfect English. He brought us not just the menus, but soft blankets to cover our laps and legs on a chilly day. I've only ever had that at the cafe restaurant at the Larga Museum in Lima. Nice touch. Both the drinks and food menus are extensive. You can get anything from a sandwich to inventive salads to pasta to big main courses. They serve breakfast too (but not on Sundays). We wondered if the sheer number of dishes on the menu was a sign that the food would be bad. We needn't have worried. My friend had a vegetarian panini which she said was delicious and great fries, which had obviously been handcut and freshly cooked to perfection. They were crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. I tried the salmon, because I thought that would be a real test for the chef. It earned an 'A'. The waiter asked how I wanted it done and it came cooked pink in the centre just as I'd requested. The quinoa 'risotto' that accompanied it was delicious. The seating is on comfortable armchairs or sofas, and we had a view from the window to the Cuenca sign in the San Francisco plaza. This is not an 'almuerzo' restaurant and the prices reflect that. But the warm and friendly service, the beautiful surroundings and especially the terrific food is worth it. We're going back for dinner sometime to try one of the interesting cocktails and desserts. La Cofradia is a great addition to the Cuenca dining scene.

Wonderful place to relax and swim in the thermal pools. The breakfast was fabulous and diverse. Excellent service at the front desk, dining and pool area. It’s a safe place to vacation, only 10 minutes cab ride from the city.

I can’t say anything about the rooms since I just purchased the day pass for the volcanic fed pools and mud bath. It was a super chill relaxing place and I’d definitely recommend. If you’re doing the day pass definitely bring a towel since the not provided but sell them for “hotel” prices lol. I don't know about the rooms. I only come here for the thermals, cold plunge, steam room. There are two different locations. I enjoy the more laid back one and its only 8$ for a pass, and you can stay as long as you want. Lockers are free. Go early and on weekdays if you want it less busy.

REVIEW IS ONLY FOR THE THERMAL SPA: Reception: ⭐️ Thermal Bath Facilities: ⭐️⭐️⭐️ Food quality: ⭐️⭐️⭐️ Food Service: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Eatery/Restaurant ambience: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ RECEPTION: - the staff are friendly BUT THEY DO NOT DISCLOSE ALL FEES EXPECTED 🫤🫤🫤🫤🫤. 👎👎👎👎👎 They DO NOT PROVIDE TOWELS (or even rent them out). THEY SELL THEM FOR $14.50, an excessive price for a poor quality towel. 👎👎👎👎👎 They also DO NOT PROVIDE SPA CAPS that they require. THEY SELL IT FOR $2.00. *** It might be worth pointing out that towels and caps are standard of any spa. This place “prides” itself as a spa. Since they obviously DO NOT provide them, THESE SHOULD DISCLOSED AT RECEPTION AND IN THE WEBSITE🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬. SPA FACILITIES: OVERALL VERY AVERAGE despite the seemingly large area the entire establishment is built on. 😑😑😑 The main thermal pool feels more like a heated swimming pool rather than a hotspring pool. *** the hotspring water supply is very weak, the “spa-heat” is felt only about 2-3 feet from the supply at one corner of the shallow end of the pool - it’s Family friendly spa 👍 BUT there is NOT A SEPARATE AREA FOR CHILDREN ESPECIALLY TODDLERS 🫤🫤🫤. - for safety, children especially toddlers should be localized to the shallow circular pool adjoining the main pool. 👍 The HOT-COLD soaking pools are quite good. THE HOT one is a true hotspring pool at 42-degC. 👍 Nice Turkish (steam) bath. 🫤 There is NO dry sauna. 🤬🤬🤬 There’s an advertised “hot mud bath” on the premises BUT nowhere to be found. 👍 Lockers provided as well men’s and women’s changing rooms. FOOD: 👍 There’s a nice eatery/restaurant on site, which appears to have a reasonable dining menu. 👍 There’s a Menu del Dia as part of one of the Day-use service. The food is better the usual Almuerzo or Comida Tipica. 👍 There’s a separate snack bar by the main pool.

The required me to check in and name all the people and kids I was checking in with and yet they couldn't give me extra towels for my kids. The night I checked in they gave me milk for the baby for his bottle and the next day they refused to give me milk they said I had to pay $2 a cup because of inventory purposes. I paid the same at a luxury hotel Oro Verde in Cuenca and received 10 times better service. TV had limited channels

TRYP by Wyndham Cuenca Zahir offers airy rooms and suites, along with a sleek restaurant where guests can enjoy complimentary breakfast and airport transfers. Situated in the modern southern part of Cuenca, this hotel provides a more contemporary option compared to those in the historic center. While some guests appreciate the beautiful rooms and pleasant staff, others have experienced issues such as maintenance problems including lack of hot water, noise disturbances from traffic and thin walls.
Nice hotel with great views of Cuenca. Nice restaurant full bar. Great service Nice walk to El Centro.

This was our first time in Ecuador, so I'm critiquing on my personal preferences. Our room was beautiful and the solarium was a nice place to relax in the mornings and evenings. It's a bit warm in the day since there is no a/c. The bed was comfortable. However, the room was NOISY from traffic, construction, car alarms, horns, etc. The walls are paper thin! Also, there is no fridge, microwave, iron, coffee maker, or ice/ ice bucket. Am I spoiled?🤔 The staff was very nice, helpful, and pleasant to deal with. Please leave a note for housekeeping to take the tip, or they won't! Love the honesty!
Anthony R — Google review
DO not use their laundry service! They charged me $96 for a week's worth of clothes. I have never paid more than $20 in any part of South America. I'd asked them beforehand how much it would cost and the man at the reception desk gave me a vague answer about how it depended on how many clothes there were. When I saw the price and said I hadn't been informed about the prices, he said I should have looked in the closet because there was a form in there. Why didn't he give me the form when I'd asked about the prices? The bathroom has a vaguely septic smell, and you have to climb on the bathroom counter to open the window for ventilation, and then there is a lot of noise from the street/stadium. The Wifi link they gave me didn't work and I had to ask the reception desk to put me on their other "VIP" network two separate times for my phone and for my laptop.

Great hotel. During our visit we were greeted by the manager Oscar Fuentes who is very knowledgeable with our needs and concerns. He made sure our stay was memorable. His staff was very helpful in every way. Oscar even helped us and kept reminding us of live events they have on their rooftop. I recommend this hotel the next time you visit Cuenca, Ecuador. Did I tell you how close (walking distance) we were from the historical center and cathedral? Well its a very short walk you will definitely enjoy it! When you go make sure you ask for Oscar Fuentes. Trust me he will definitely make your stay comfortable and memorable

Hotel is well located, rooms are OK, food is decent as well as service. However, the rooms with outside windows can be noisy. I requested to be moved to an interior window room that was much quieter. The picture shows the view from the room I was originally given.

We stayed one night at this hotel. Check in staff was nice and friendly. However the man in the afternoon was very rude and didn’t acknowledge customers. To start off rooms were dirty. There was hair in the bathroom floor, shower and sink. Since we were staying for only one night I didn’t mention it. Prior to making the booking the receptionist had told me there were only double beds available. So we paid 160 for a room with two beds, because according to her that was all they had. The day of the booking we got the room key and to our surprise we were booked in a room with one bed. It wasn’t an issue because that’s what we originally had asked. I thought at the moment of checkout they would do a refund since we paid for a bigger room. However, they didn’t. I had also asked them the day before to kindly bring a piece of cake for my partners birthday at 8:00am. It was a surprise, I even texted them to remind them and I didn’t hear back till we were doing checkout. So there was no surprise. I received a text message after doing the checkout and I replied back with my complaints. They told me they would reach out to me but a month later I still have not heard back. Be careful, if you pay for something and don’t receive it make sure to complain at that moment or else you’ll never see your money back! Also the “Free Buffet Breakfast” that’s included in you stay is trash. The day we went for breakfast we can see waiters running around this included one of them bumping into our table he apologize and mentioned they were low staff. We got to the buffet at 8:30am and there was barely to nothing left. Not what you would expect from a hotel with an American name. Trust me it’s not an actually Wyndham. You are better off trying to book somewhere else!

If I were 50 years younger this place would have been ok The hotel is on the light rail line we had to dash into the hotel as the road and light rail line are very busy. The check in was ok except for. We asked for dinner and were told that the restaurant was closed, we asked why because on the web page it stated that we can get dinner, no answer was forth coming. Next question was what does the emergency alarm sound make, i did not get an answer. A young man carried our luggage to the room. The room was not as nice as it looks in the photo, only 1 bottle of water for 2 people, only 1 hand towel for 2 people. The bottles of shampoo had been opened, the waste bin was very small and there was no waste bin for the room. O light over the mirror in the bathroom, the extractor in the bathroom did not work. The room was fairly clean but was overcrowded. There was no hairdryer, no safe, these are the things that are just basic to a comfortable stay. We were so tired we ordered in from a Mexican restaurant. The next morning came the trial of using such small bathroom, if you have a fear of confined spaces then this bathroom is not for you. With that out of the way we went up to the restaurant for breakfast, the drabness of this area was consuming, no music a family huddled around a table speaking in hushed tones, a long table with a few bottles of pickles on it where you would expect the grazing area to be. We sat at a bare table and a young man came over, he asked if we want coffee and how do you want your eggs. He came back with a plate each of 2 small sweet buns with 1 small triangle of meat and cheese, next came a plate of fruit and then a plate of scrambled eggs, not to forget the small glass of juice and cup of coffee. We had people to meet so we left the hotel, on our return the room was so depressing that we packed up leaving for another hotel our stay was for 7 nights. We told the girl on the desk that we are checking out , so we pay for 2 nights and refund the rest, she said no we can only refund 50% , ok refund it to the card we paid with, the girl said i can not do that i need your bank account number. This went on and on for 45 minutes until we left without a refund to stay in another hotel. Not the best experience.

Deceiving. Nice modern lobby, but that’s where it stops. Don’t be deceived. In spite of its “prestigious” status, this is a very old and gross hotel. The actual rooms are disgusting. Had to move to a different room & floor the first day due to water & plumbing issues. Our second room was worse than the first one. Same water & plumbing issues. Some times you have water, sometimes you don’t. Sometimes you get hot water, sometimes you don’t. Water comes out gritty dirty out of shower head. Looks like coffee grinds mixed with water. Disgusting! Bedding and pillows are old & smelly. Same for the paper thin bath towels. Old cracked tiles. Absolutely nothing good to offer, not even a hair dryer. Cheap toiletries. Couldn’t eat their awful “free breakfast” either. The worst! Couldn’t stand it anymore after the second day, so we ended up moving to Valgus Hotel to finish our 4 day stay in Cuenca. What a difference! We loved it there! Should have moved there the first day. Hotel El Presidente charged us upfront for all the days we had reserved: even the days we were forced to move to Valgus. Horrible experience!!

Ok hotel to spend a couple of nights but that’s it. The single beds in the private rooms aren’t comfortable enough and the bathrooms need a deep clean (shower curtain with mold). Great location near restaurants and not far from the historical sites. Good breakfast 👍🏻
Hannah T — Google review
The hotel is beautiful, you can have an amazing view of the rive, the facilities are quite good, and the staff is nice and kind. However, it's true that the water in the shower is cold. To sum up, I would definitely recommend this hotel, the option that I chose was the shared room which were amazing because as the hotel was empty in this season I could enjoy a completely private experience for just 21,50$. And the breakfast is included.

It’s SO loud at night you will not be able to sleep until 3am. Also, our bed didn’t stop moving around all night as it was on wheels. Only stay if you’re going out every night. Location is great but taxis are cheap to get around if you stay further out.

This place is a joke. It just looks fancy but actually it has no soul. I think there's a reason why the place was totally empty. Its cold, inconvenient, many things just don't work, there is no hot water in the big dormitory and the small one is next to a disco so you can't sleep. AND THEY LOST MY FAVOURITE TSHIRT IN THE LAUNDRY. At least the staff was nice

It is IMPOSSIBLE to sleep at this hostel at night without noise cancelling headphones or ear plugs. I normally love staying at Selina because it’s clean and has very nice amenities but the music is so loud next door you cannot fall asleep. If you’re ok with having to use ear plugs or headphones while sleeping then yes I recommend staying here but there are other nice hostels in the area without this problem
Sadie O — Google review
Great location and nice staff, the hotel has a college dorm type of vibe (in a good way) with lots of public/communal areas. We had to move rooms for the second night after deciding to extend, and that same girl was nice enough to give us a suite at a discounted rate (since our regular room wasn’t available.) Unfortunately, on the second morning, we were awoken by incessant hammering coming from somewhere inside the building starting around 6:30am or 7:00am. Apparently the building is shared with other businesses so the noise was coming from one of those, and the hotel couldn’t do anything. Something to consider for those who value a peaceful morning. The woman at the front desk (same as before) told us we could get a premium breakfast option at no charge so that was really nice of her. One thing that was weird: no phones in the room. And our first room didn’t have a TV, maybe only suites have them. There’s also a $65 penalty (!!) if you “ruin” a towel with makeup, which made using the towels more stressful than it should have been for my partner. If you have this policy, perhaps offering complimentary makeup wipes is a good idea. Overall, good value for the price paid.

But well it is high up, so make tea of or chew some coca leaves a day or two before. Everyday 2 cups of tea or two time two leaves a day and almost no head aches for you!

Hotel Yanuncay, situated in Cuenca's historic town centre, offers warm and comfortable rooms and suites with amenities such as flat-screen TVs and free WiFi access. The property features an on-site a la carte restaurant, event rooms, and can accommodate large groups. Guests praise the hardworking staff and immaculate cleanliness of the hotel. The breakfast is highly recommended for its fresh bread, eggs cooked to order, and delicious coffee.
Beautiful property. Hard working staff. Fast elevator never out of order. You couldn’t tell that pets were allowed because they keep it immaculate. Breakfast: fresh panderia bread daily, eggs cooked your way and the best smooth hottest coffee(I had not been a coffee drinker) and if you want milk for your coffee it’s hot plus other delicious items. Extra pillows and towels, graciously. Bedding and bed, so comfy the only thing that gets you out of bed is knowing breakfast is downstairs waiting. Please don’t miss going to the “sunroom “ on the top floor up the stairs. It’s a spectacular view of the city, I was able to catch a little fireworks display up there. Good WiFi signal. I noticed a router on every floor.

We stayed here on a whim but we’re so glad that we did. My husband and I had booked a room at a different hotel on the same road (let’s call it Casa Poop) who then lost our reservation. The woman at the desk of Casa Poop was then completely unapologetic, even though we had booked and confirmed weeks prior, then didn’t even try to help us find another place; she just shrugged her shoulders and said that everything was probably booked, then sat in silence as we tried in vain to book something else on our phones. She did let us use the wifi, thankfully. To be fair, it was a holiday weekend so there were a lot of people in town, as well as an arts and crafts festival happening at the river and, to her credit, lots of places were fully booked. But, Cuenca is a big town. Every single room is booked so don’t even bother trying? Come on. So, we walked one block down and saw Hotel Yanuncay. The guys at the front desk smiled and waved through the glass so we decided, “Hey, let’s see if they have a room.” They said that they did and that we could go ahead and check in right then (it wasn’t even 12pm, yet!). The room was great and clean and the hotel, itself, was very clean and well furnished - bar/restaurant downstairs with a natural light hangout area on each floor as you go up. The staff is awesome and extremely welcoming and there was a free breakfast included, too. So, not only did we get to check in earlier than we would have, it was also more economical than our original plan. We’re so thankful that the kind and welcoming staff were nice enough to give us a wave through the glass doors and usher us in. Who knows where we would have ended up? Probably under a bridge, right, because every room in town was booked. I would definitely recommend Hotel Yanuncay to someone visiting Cuenca and would stay again.

Beautiful quaint hotel that looks and feels like you just stepped back into history. Located walking distance from the Cathedral, the park square, and some of the best restaurants. Very friendly staff and makes you feel welcome at every interaction
Chandreyee S — Google review
A super clean, organized, comfortable hotel, in a quiet neighborhood with a short walk to the historic center. The hotel is a beautiful, historic building. You will enjoy architecture of a historic location. The room has everything, spotless and clean bathroom, soap, shampoo, water glasses, bath, floor and hand towels. Closets, hangers drawers, suitcase holders, hooks for towels, windows for light and a comfortable bed. The temperature in the room pleasant and there are plenty of blankets. The breakfast was excellent and the staff was exceptional. The only drawback, which may not be an issue: The breakfast starts at 7:30 and if you want to sleep in, there is some noise from guests talking as the rooms surround the dining area. That is also true for the restaurant that is part of the hotel. Some rooms are also located in part of the restaurants dining area. This could also be a source of noise from restaurants patrons in the evening. Overall we were satisfied with our experience as we were out visiting the town from morning to night and had a good sleep.

Clean place with very friendly staff. It is a bit basic and suffers from the problem that all these colonial places have that it has all rooms facing in so can be noisy if bus loads of tourist leave early in the morning - has a great restaurant

Guests can indulge in complimentary breakfast each morning, savor delicious meals at the on-site restaurant, or unwind at the inviting bar. The sun deck provides a lovely spot to relax after exploring the vibrant neighborhood filled with shops and attractions within walking distance.
I came here with my family (6 people total). We were given 2 single rooms and 1 room with 4 beds, which was great when all of us wanted to just hang around and chill at the same time. The rooms are quite spacious and clean. They offer breakfast (buffet like) which is quite complete: fruits, juice, milk, yogurt, coffee, water, granola, cereal, nuts, pastries, cheese, ham, bread. For the eggs they ask you how would you like yours and they prepare it. They also offer some local food, for us one day was humita, another day was tortilla de maduro con queso, another day mote pillo, all part of breakfast. The receptionist was able to help us find a guide and book a tour (very helpful if it's your first time in Cuenca). Location wise, it's very close to a Supermaxi, a bunch of restaurants and it's within walking distance from Downtown (Centro histórico). I'm definitely coming back here next time.

I was recommended by a friend who is a regular there, nice place, closed to all, safe neighborhood lots of things walking distance I did my reservation over the phone while on the go and was a breeze, William and Julio were super friendly and provided great service, breakfast was delicious and different each day of my stay. Nice boutique hotel overall, sometimes is better to stay away from chain hotels, parking was a plus. My first time in Cuenca and definitely will return.

Clean comfortable room, quiet also. Close to lots of restaurants. Excellent lunch restaurant across the street, has 3 dollar plate of the day. Front desk person was always helpful. Breakfast experience was really good. Yogurt and granola with fresh fruit. Also eggs, omelettes and bread. Each day a little different surprise for breakfast.

Kind and considerate hotel staff and clean, comfortable rooms. The breakfast was filling and the wait staff were very accommodating to our dietary requests. William at the front desk was very informative and helpful. We had an excellent stay and will stay again on our next visit to the beautiful city of Cuenca. Highly recommended!

I recommend this little inn because the area is nice and the hotel rooms are a bit small but very clean and well-maintained. If you're looking for luxury and extravagance, look elsewhere. If you're looking for a friendly family type place with a little restaurant this won't disappoint. The people you see complaining here, will literally complain about anything. Why they are staying in their rooms and worrying about every little detail is beyond me. Economical but clean.

Stayed here as part of a group tour in April - location was good and there was a grocery store/mall within walking distance. Rooms were nice with a small balcony. Staff were very friendly and breakfast was also good each morning. Only complaint was that there were two of us booked for the room, but we were only provided with one bottle of water, one cup and one towel, so I had to go down to reception to ask for more towels. Otherwise a great place to stay in Cuenca!

This hotel is clean, organized and within walking distance of everything. Diego and Erick were amazing at making us feel like family. The breakfast is great!! There is no elevator, so be ready to get your steps in. The first floor is equivalent to the US 2nd floor. It is in the center so be prepared to hear some noise during the day and night and the catedral rings bells to announce the beginning of mass everyday.
Carola C — Google review
This place was an excellent stay for the price you pay! Valet parking and breakfast were included in the price. My five year old was very pleased with the room which had a second floor and a balcony! It was very special for her. The service was excellent, extremely attentive. Breakfast was lovely. Everything was very clean. Fast wifi. Location was excellent - I was very grateful they showed us a beautiful hidden little plaza just across the street with a huge restaurant selection and beautiful night views of the cathedral. This plaza was probably one of the most beautiful places I've been to in Cuenca. Some cons: no elevator, minor repairs needed throughout, mismatched furniture, but no deal breakers. But it was undoubtedly over and above what one would expect for the price and location.
Christie B — Google review
Worst experience ever with the service!! I reserved a month ago for April 18th .. it was never mentioned there was no elevator, we arrived at 730am they had our 3rd floor rooms ready but we couldn’t go in because check in started at 2pm but they told us come back 1230 to get our rooms .. at arrival the person in charge told us we couldn’t get our rooms because they were not ready. It turned into a back and forth situation, no integrity, no ethics , very rude. I don’t recommend
Mariana M — Google review
We were very exciting about visiting Cuenca and also this hotel due to its unbeatable location at the other side of the cathedral. The buildinding and the views from the room were impressive, however there were plenty of things that need urgent improvement, starting with a quite uncomfortable mattress (the worst we had in our 3 week trip around the country). The lighting of the room was very poor, just with two strong lights on the ceiling, no bedside table light so impossible to read in bed or create a cozy atmosphere. The toilet had a strange noise everytime we were using it and the shower drainpipe was clogged. Poor breakfast as well served in the cold hall (people were wearing coats!) with unlimited black coffee. The staff were nice at all times but management must look urgently at so many things.
Álvaro R — Google review
I’m giving this hotel a 5 stars!! January 9th Ecuador was put in the state of emergency and we had no where to go. The streets were empty, the shops are all closed. This was the only place that took us in. The gentleman at the front desk was extremely nice. We had asked for a basic room for the night which was 35 usd. The gentleman at the front gave a us free upgrade to the room, I’m assuming after seeing our faces scared and worried of what was going on in the city. The room was comfy and spacious. It also includes a small light breakfast. This hotel is right in the heart of downtown cuenca. There’s lots to do around here in walking distance. I highly recommend this place to anyone who’s coming to visit cuenca in the near future. The Cons for this hotel is that there’s no elevator and it’s a 3 storey high.

It’s ok just to sleep some comfortable. But really noisy at night. People arrives and talks out loud in the little salons with music up to 3:35 am also breakfast its terrible not fresh fruits although Ecuador has all variety of Frits and vegetables here you hardly see it worse yet tasty.

I really liked the aesthetic of the building. However our room was a little dated and crowded. There wasn't much room to move around, it was oddly laid out and the sheets had some stains on them that we just chose to ignore. The breakfast was decent, if lacking in options, but the ladies running it did a good job. The front desk staff was hit or miss. Perhaps it was the language barrier, but there were no greetings when we passed the desk unless we engaged them. The best part of the hotel is the location. It is close to a ton of shops, restaurants, and local attractions.
Scott M — Google review
Unfriendly staff, they tried to charge me an extra $20 per night because we were three people even though they NEVER told us to do so when we checked in and they told us we didn't have to paid ANYTHING ELSE and I asked twice. Beds are comfortable though, breakfast hours are very narrow 7 to 9 45 am... it is not cheap for the quality $220 for 4 nights. I would never come back here

If I could give more than five stars I would! This place is beautiful in so many ways. The staff here are so wonderful and welcoming you feel like family. The rooms surround a beautiful courtyard. The restaurant serves delicious food and the bar has delicious drinks (best Moscow mule I've ever had) and they have beautiful art for sale in their own gallery. They also run special art events like drawing nights or ceramics nights. A truly amazing place to stay! It's also in a wonderful part of Cuenca, very close to Parque Calderon and pretty much central to anything you would want to do in Cuenca. I highly recommend Casa Merced!

Quiet room, main floor, back of courtyard location, comfortable bed, space heater needed to provide sufficient heat for mid-May evening temperatures. A really nice and cozy hostel. We stayed there for one night and the room stayed quite warm during the night, which is really nice during the colder season. There were plenty of blankets and there are also hot showers, which is wonderful after a long day and a tiring trip. Our room was clean and totally sufficient. The breakfast was good and cheap (4$) and the lady working there was incredibly lovely. Recommendable! :-)

Super clean, nice rooms with a kitchenette! Balconies and full size wall sliding doors. Modern and convenient. It is between two major streets but if you get a room on the back of the building it is quieter than if you stay in the actual downtown area. We traveled to Cuenca with family. One of the family members was on oxygen. We knew about power outages as we have a house in Montanita. We asked the hotel for a schedule of outages. We needed to plan based on the member needing oxygen. We told do not worry, we have a generator. The first night's power outage happened at 10 pm. The generator kicked on an all was well. For 1 hour. The it shut off. The next morning power outage was at 6:00 am. No generator = cold showers and unable to charge oxygen batteries. When we asked at front desk we were told they ran out of gas. That night at 10:00 pm the power went out. Still no generator. Next morning power went out at 6 am. No generator, cold showers. We asked at front desk and we're told the owner had directed them nit to use generator. That night when coming back from dinner, the front desk told us , power will be out at 10:00 pm and they would not use the generator. We checked out a day early the next morning, explained that one guests needed to be able to charge his breathing machine. They refused to refund the extra day. Terrible.

Super helpful and friendly staff. Easy check in. Clean rooms that are maintained daily. Hot water and a coffee maker made this the best. Location is walkable to most locations we wanted to go. Easy access to taxis for any other place you could want to go. Never waited more than 5 minutes for taxis. Local food is great. Several local markets near by. There was even a Nike Outlet store where I bought some new walking shoes. I will definitely stay here again. WIFI speed and range is excellent. Was able to video conference on Teams with co-workers successfully.

This hostel was fine. I definitely think more could be done to spruce up the place at the price it is. The rooms were just very bare and basic. The beds were uncomfortable and low to the ground. You could here every sound from beyond the door magnified into the room. The system to leave the hostel is also bizarre in which someone at the desk needs to buzz you out when often times someone was not there and you were left waiting. The staff is very cool though, the kitchen is large and clean, and the free breakfast at the (awesome) cafe next door is a nice touch. Super close to the badass free museum too!

Hotel Azul De La Plaza, situated in Cuenca, offers a charming historic stay with a garden, free parking, and a shared lounge. The 3-star hotel provides an ATM and concierge service. Guests can enjoy the cozy and clean accommodation with a mix of typical architecture and bohemian interior design. Its central location in the historic district allows for easy exploration on foot. Visitors praise the friendly staff, ideal location on a quiet square, delicious breakfast, and clean rooms.
First time in Cuenca, so I wasn't sure what sort of place the Hotel Azul would be. Boy, was I in for a pleasant surprise! Nothing over the top, but all aspects of this cozy place impressed me. The room was spacious and comfortable, with a nice view of the city and strong/ consistent Wi-Fi. The location is great -- a short walk down to the river or quick stroll to the city center (although there are plenty of affordable and tasty restaurants within a stone's throw). But the best part of Hotel Azul was the staff, who went above and beyond to make sure my stay was memorable. Speaking Spanish is helpful but not vital, as everyone was patient with my limited language skills and they were more than comfortable assisting me in English. Coffee and breakfast are available in the morning, and they even have a convenient on-site laundry option that is amazingly affordable. I ended up extending my stay for a few days because I enjoyed it so much. Hotel Azul does everything right -- you won't be disappointed if you stay here during your time in Cuenca!

Could you not have scheduled the horrible pounding as bricks were removed from the wall, apparently with a sledgehammer, until the coffee shop was closed? I feel sorry for all the others who looked forward to a quiet cup of coffee today and were unable to enjoy their time.

This was my first visit to Cuenca, and I absolutely loved the city. Hotel Azul de la Plaza was an excellent base to explore the Centro Historico. The room was spotlessly clean, tastefully decorated, and above all, very comfortable. The location really cannot be beat, the price was more than reasonable, and there was parking available in a secure lot. When I come back to Cuenca, I will absolutely stay here again

Don’t waste your time or money here. They are very unprofessional!!!! We couldn’t get into the hotel one night because the person who was in charge of the night shift “fell asleep on the shift”. We rang the door bell plenty of times and no one would open the front door. When we asked for a refund for the night we couldn’t get in & the owner didn’t even care or try to accommodate us. He told us to reach out to Expedia since we booked through them. Never going back.

Hotel Azul De La Plaza is a good hotel, but personally I’m not sure I would go back. PROS: - The service was excellent and the staff is very friendly and helpful. - Great location! It’s a 10 min walk away from Parque Calderón. - Close to a pharmacy, restaurants and general stores and also a museum of modern art ( free entrance) -Includes a delicious and very filling breakfast that includes: bread, fresh fruit, juice, coffee and scrambled eggs. - There was bottled water and the usual hotel toiletries. - The bed was comfortable. - The bathroom was clean and spacious with a good shower. The water pressure was great and so was the heat. CONS: - Internet was horrible. Half the time it didn’t work. If you were looking to work while staying here…you won’t be able to. Finding a cafe nearby will be a better option. - I am a light sleeper so this may not apply to everyone but the room we had, which was facing the plaza, was very very noisy. There is the noise of the guided tour bus that’s come around every couple of hours, the noise of bustling streets, and at night there is loud music coming from the restaurants right in front of the hotel across the plaza. Luckily I brought a some earplugs and the restaurant music died down past midnight. But do keep this in mind when booking a room here. Maybe book a room that doesn’t face the plaza. -The room was a lot smaller than expected but since we only stayed for one night it was not much of an issue. - There didn’t seem to be any elevators nor wheelchair access and the rooms start on the 1st floor and up not on the ground floor. Because I’m such a light sleeper I just couldn’t get the rest that I needed due to the noise. But other than that I would recommend staying here. It’s quite a nice hotel at a good price and it’s in a nice location.

This is a delightful historic hotel! My husband and I stayed here for our anniversary weekend. We had the room on the top floor with a double jacuzzi tub and views of the whole city. It was quiet and peaceful. Our Queen bed was very comfortable. They gave us roses when we arrived and had a bottle of champagne on ice for us. There were towels shaped as swans, surrounded by fresh rose petals making a heart, on the bed! The owners were friendly and helpful. The food in the lobby was good. It was so convenient to walk out the door and walk anywhere we wanted. Wifi on the fourth floor doesn't work very well, but the other floors have strong wifi. We highly recommend Azul de la Plaza hotel.

Amazing view! Right in front of San Sebastián where you can see the park, the church and the Modern Art Museum. The people are really friendly but they need to learn more languages and about tourism in Cuenca.

We enjoyed our stay for 3 nights in the king suite. The room was extra large with comfortable bed and bedding. There were excellent amenities and I particularly liked a luggage rack and full length mirror. Breakfast was delicious with daily variety. The garden courtyard is beautiful and peaceful. Wilmer was our host and was very helpful and friendly. The B&B was secure and located in a very convenient location.

The best hotel to stay in Cuenca! The hoterl is beautiful and cozy, offering all the services you need. The staff is so attentive, kind, and very helpful! The location is great, you are at walking distance to Cuenca´s Historic Center attractions. I will definitely stay there next time I'm in Cuenca.

Wonderful! Great location in old city but peaceful and quiet. Kind, caring host who speaks perfect English. All staff lovely. Nothing too much trouble. Great breakfast (different choices each day) in a lovely garden courtyard. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend.

In May 2025, our foundation had the pleasure of staying at Casa Montalvo during a busy agenda of community project visits. Wilmer and the staff took care of our every need, accommodating to our changing schedules and meeting specific food restrictions. Casa Montalvo offers a secluded oasis of nature and comfort within the urban squares of Cuenca, and provides excellent service that attended to every detail. I highly recommend Casa Montalvo and look forward to visiting again soon!

This is so far the best hotel I know in Ecuador. What a beautiful building and lovely garden, quiet, in the historic center of Cuenca. Beautiful rooms, nicely decorated, great staff, clean and the people who run it, are always ready to help you and have a lot of tourist experience. Perfect internet, hot water in shower and sinck. And the breakfast... fantastic... every morning a new surprise. I love this place.❤️

I stayed at Casa Montalvo for 9 days and was consistently impressed. Sonia, the host, is incredibly hospitable and friendly, making me feel like family and even giving tours of her home and the city. Her warmth and care set Casa Montalvo apart from other places I've stayed, and she even taught me some Spanish! The house is beautifully decorated by Sonia and her brother Fausto, filled with Sonia’s artwork, with a lovely garden patio. It’s conveniently located near restaurants, churches, stores, museums, and parks. I had the largest room with a comfortable king bed, cleaned daily by Angelica with fresh towels always provided, and the water pressure and heater worked perfectly. Breakfast was a highlight, prepared daily by Sonia with fresh ingredients, and we enjoyed long chats with great recommendations for activities and restaurants. This stay was filled with joy and memorable experiences. Thank you, Sonia, for your exceptional hospitality and making me feel at home!

The Best Hotel Experience of Our Lives! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ If I could give this hotel more than five stars, I absolutely would! From the moment we arrived, we knew we were in for something special. The location is simply unbeatable—right in the heart of the city, with everything at our fingertips and the most breathtaking views of the cathedral from the restaurant. But what truly sets this place apart is the exceptional service. Every single staff member, from the security team to the receptionists, went above and beyond to make us feel like royalty. You can genuinely feel that they love what they do—they will literally move mountains to ensure you have the most incredible stay. One of the absolute highlights of our trip was when I surprised my wife with a live mariachi performance at the hotel. Not only did they allow it, but they embraced the magic of the moment! Before we knew it, the entire street was dancing and singing along, creating an unforgettable memory that will stay with us forever. If you are looking for a hotel that delivers world-class service, breathtaking views, and unforgettable experiences, this is the one. Don't hesitate—book it now!

Let me start with the issues, and surely you'll see other guests complaining about it as well. The hotel is between an italian restaurant and a rooftop that works till 1am, as a part of their business model. The rooms are loud if you are trying to sleep before that time. It ain't much the hotel can do without offending the restaurant/rooftop users, so it's a client vs. client conflict of interest. I solved it by turning on some white noise so it would cover up the music. It worked. The windows are soundproof, but there is only so much that can do. Other issue, that once presented was solved, was the room doors, that were invaded by light the whole time. The staff covered it with black papers, and it was solved, so we could sleep in a propper dark room. The aesthetic of it wasn't great, but it was functional nevertheless. The cleaning staff would enter the room unannounced if you didn't put the do not disturb notice by the door. Talking to people that stayed at other joints I confirmed similar issues occurred as well, so maybe these are cultural things. Other than that, the stay was great and I do recommend it. The people are very welcoming and respectful, the food is delicious, well presented and served, drinks are great, the location is pristine and the decor is a highlight. The rooms are clean and comfortable.

What a gem. In El Centro. Across from Parque Calderón. Great location. Intimate boutique hotel with some suites, and an awesome restaurant. Excellent service - and we mean an EXCELLENT staff. So attentive and respectful, from the concierges to the restaurant staff, to housekeeping - all kind and helpful. We stayed about a week in a fabulous suite - incredible room. Very contemporary. A great base location to experience Cuenca on foot. But it’s the staff that puts this place beyond the norm. They sincerely care that you are happy and satisfied. They respond quickly when asked for any assistance. We had breakfasts and dinners at the restaurant - excellent restaurant staff both for breakfast on the outside roof patio, and for dinner in the modern dining area. The food was excellent and carefully prepared and presented. An impressive, intimate boutique hotel and suites, that we are certain will enjoy much success in the future.

SEI E — Google review
Yes, the view is good, the staff are very attentive, but nothing justifies the astronomical price of the extremely bad quality food. A seven-year cooks better. I ordered the most expensive entree on the menu, among others - it came with undercooked fish, vanishingly small clams with hardly any evidence of clam, over grilled octopus, raw pungent onions, and somewhat inedible rice (yes, they even managed to screw up with the rice), everything completely devoid of any flavor. After being ripped offs over 120 dollars (by the way, how is this possibly okay in Ecuador considering the median household monthly income), I had to go to somewhere else to get proper food so I did have to go to bed hungry. Being fancy and even pretensions is an acceptable style by choice, but it should meet at least minimum standard. This place is banking on continuous ripping-off of first-time tourists traveling with dollars and euros, but such atrocious food will eventually come back to bite it. DO NOT bother with this place!

The location is convenient for exploring the city on foot, while the cleanliness and comfort of the rooms ensure a pleasant stay. Guests can also enjoy the beautiful patio and excellent coffee offered at this charming hostal.
This was a perfect stay for me. The room was comfortable, very tastefully designed, and got the details right like hand and face towels, shower products including conditioner, beautiful lighting, and a modern kitchenette was a huge bonus! It was quiet yet very well located in the historic center. The breakfasts were just delightful both because of how delicious and nourishing they were but also because Franco is an amazing host; warm, caring, ensuring I had everything needed and a joy to be around. And those cappuccinos!

We had a wonderfully comfortable and peaceful stay here with a group of 12 (adults and kids). Franco and Elena were incredible and patient hosts, and Franco's espresso drinks are a plentiful treat, alongside a delicious breakfast each morning. The rooms and courtyards are beautiful, with lots of spaces to enjoy the outdoors and gardens. The rooms are modern and elegant, with incredible attention to detail and comfort. Each room had a well-equipped kitchenette with a fridge, stovetop and, sink. The location is ideal — easy walking all over the historic district.

From the many places that we have stayed over the past decades this place stands out for the amazing hospitality, wonderfully appointed rooms and inviting common areas. Franco and Elena are gracious hosts that know how to make travelers feel at home. The property features free bikes, a washing machine, garden and inner courtyard views, as well as a sun terrace. Guests can enjoy free WiFi and free private parking. The spacious rooms come with large smart TVs and ensuite bathrooms for a quiet and calming experience.
From the moment I arrived at the property, I felt at home. The room was very cozy and the bed was very comfortable. Bathroom is modern with a shower that had really good water pressure and hot water. The breakfast was delicious and was a great way to try the local cuisine and fresh produce. Sole and her family are very welcoming and wonderful hosts. They were very helpful and gave many great recommendations during my visit to Cuenca. The location is pretty much a 10-15 minute walk to most of the museums and sites of the central historical district of Cuenca. The house is located on a quiet street just outside the main tourist area. If I ever get a chance to return to Cuenca, I will be sure to book a room again at Casatodosantos.

An amazing stay with a welcoming, kind and informative family. All the reviews are accurate, Sole and her family are fantastic hosts. The room was spacious, had a large smart TV, a big ensuite and was quiet and calming. Breakfast was my favourite meal of the day in Cuenca and Sole cooked something different but local each morning with freshly squeezed juice. The house is set in a central and easily accessible area but just off the main thoroughfare to be quiet. The odd airplane goes overhead but Cuenca airport is very central so I doubt many people in the city can avoid the noise! I landed on my feet with this stay, my only regret is not staying longer. Thank you Sole for a great time in your city.

You can stop searching, this is it! The host, Sole, is an amazing welcoming person, very helpful even in things that totally not related to her part of the deal (helped us with mailing a parcel). The room has a very tasteful design and the garden around it was beautiful and peaceful. The location is very good, it's 10 minutes away from the historic center, and the walk there is along the riverside promenade. Pumapungo museum is just aroun the corner. If you're traveling by car there is a safe parking, both outside and inside the gate. Overall, it's a calm and safe neighborhood. It also a short drive to the Cajas national park, Ingapirca, and some smaller villages which are great stops for lunch, arts and crafts shops etc.

I wanted to love this hotel so much, but it just didn't live up to our expectations. The room was clean and matched the online description, but there was 0 air circulation or any vents in the bathroom. We had to completely open the 1 window and also prop open the main door. This made sleeping very difficult. Speaking of - the hotel rooftop bar has people until 11 or later with loud music, and also hosts parties in the middle of the week that last until 1-1:30 AM. We also were unfortunately met with outside construction starting at 2:30 AM after the party ended. I'd suggest that if you want to sleep well, don't book at this hotel. The location in the city center was perfect for exploring but not ideal at all for a decent night sleep. We initially booked for 3 nights and ended up leaving after the 2nd night to move to a quieter hotel. The staff was mostly friendly but the restaurant situation with the rooftop Terra 360 was confusing and they wanted us to dine and order multiple drinks when we only wanted 1 glass of wine for the room. I apologized for any confusion I caused with this and also left a generous tip, but I felt like we were treated poorly the rest of our stay after this interaction. I'm not sure if the restaurant staff is a reflection of the hotel but they advertise the room service through there.

Vaway Hotel has a great historic center location, but the bad side to that is that it's noisy till late hours. The room was large, modern and clean.  It has well located electric plugs, and lots of shelf space for your clutter. Bathroom is good with all the expected toiletries. The elevator is great as we were on the 4th floor and breakfast is on the 7th floor. Breakfast was good. It is served on the rooftop bar restaurant Terra360. Break your coat as it is chilly in the morning on the rooftop.  As of March 2025, it is now buffet style. Apparently, it previously had been a la carte. A few bad things:  no safe.  Wifi smart TV has no service plan, you need to use your own Netflix,  Prime, etc. My plan apparently doesn't work in foreign countries, so no TV.
