Mickies Dairy Bar is a beloved local spot near Camp Randall, serving up generous portions of classic American breakfast and lunch dishes. The diner has retained its 1950s decor and original menu, creating a nostalgic atmosphere for diners. Despite long lines, the hearty helpings of food like banana pecan pancakes and colossal cinnamon rolls make the wait worthwhile.
Awesome local place for a hearty breakfast. The pancakes are huge and the “scramble” was awesome: eggs, cheese, potatos, and your choice of meat. Cash only, but service was fast, frequent and friendly. BTW, the fried potatoes are called “yanks.” Never heard that term before, but if your food is this good for a fair price, you get to call it whatever you want.
Marc H — Google review
Notorious classic, greasy spoon diner across Camp Randall Stadium. Always busy, always friendly and the food is always good. The fried pork chop plate is delicious and is wonderfully seasoned. The pancakes are thick and wholesome. A destination eatery when visiting Madison. Cash only.
Michael W — Google review
Stopped by on a Thursday morning for breakfast. Very classic 50s diner atmosphere. It felt like home even thought it was my first visit. The food portions are huge and fair on price. Highly recommend!!!
Daniel K — Google review
Me and my husband stopped here for the first time. He got the corn beef scrambler and I got the blueberry pancakes. The portions are amazing, the food superb. The sitting was unique and I can say we will be coming back. Our server was knowledgeable and gave recommendations, which helped us decide. We absolutely will be returning
Angel M — Google review
Its reputation precedes it. Got a scramble, which was wonderfully huge (yanks = potatoes, btw). Service was nice and fast -- almost too fast. Couldn't finish the toast with the scramble at first, but waitstaff came by with the check -- although I wasn't there anywhere close to an hour, they do have a warning not to spend more than an hour there written somewhere. So, headed out to get out of the way (somewhat subconsciously) and within minutes wished I had eaten the rest of the toast. Oh well. Definitely worth a visit when in Madison.
Dnrothx — Google review
Always amazing...but this time...there was NO line! We got nearby street parking and that was also a plus. As there was no line, and we were waiting for the rest of our party to arrive the waiter started a conversation with us and we were able to share how much we appreciate their hard work and dedication to create the magic that happens on a weekend morning at Mickies Dairy Bar;)
J P — Google review
Love this place! We had pancakes, French toasts, a scrambler and an sweet potato fries. Staff is super friendly. Portions are huge. Is cash only but they have an atm on site.
Joaquín E — Google review
I cannot RAVE more about what a fantastic place this is. Food - excellent. Atmosphere - Excellent. Service - some of the best I've had in year; kind, cheerful, polite, professional. You know a place is good when 15 minutes before opening, the street is lined with elderly men waiting in their cars for it to open.

Monty's Blue Plate Diner is a 1950s-style restaurant located in a renovated gas station, offering a mix of classic comfort food and modern vegan options. The diner is known for its involvement in tempeh production, supplying not only their own dishes but also other local eateries. The atmosphere evokes a modern-day 50's diner with retro vibes, and the menu features vegan breakfast items, sandwiches, and ice cream desserts.
I am grateful for the vegan options at Monty's Blue Plate Diner and make it a point to eat there when I'm in Madison. The food is terrific and I give it 5 stars for atmosphere because it's a legit diner.
Carol S — Google review
As a vegan, I value this place. Diner food has always been one of my favorites and if you're vegan you know how hard it can be to find ANYTHING to eat at a breakfast place. But Monty's Blue Plate Diner has several delicious options (even shakes!). When there is a wait it's clearly communicated and there are indoor and outdoor areas to wait. You are sat in a charming colorful diner and treated to delicious food. I love this place, and if you are ever in Madison it's a must go.
Victoria M — Google review
Great diner with all the classics. Breakfast served all days, burgers, sandwiches, and fish fry on friday. I got the large breakfast special, which came absolutely loaded with food, I had enough for leftovers. The fish fry was also very good, 2 large pieces of perfectly fried fish.
Willow — Google review
Great vegan menu, including breakfast, lunch, dinner, and desserts - including milkshakes! I had the burger with waffle fries, and my husband had the Sheldon- like a reuben but with marinated tofu. The shakes took a while to get but were definitely worth the wait! They were more the size of 2 shakes and were delicious.
Kelly J — Google review
Interesting Menu, I chose the Ruben Sandwich. I would not get it again. It was sloppy to eat, and had too much tofu IMO Place was clean, and crowded. If I am ever back in the area, I will try something else on the menu
Gear W — Google review
Cute diner serving the best vegetarian and vegan comfort food! They have all your “classic” offerings as well for the meat eaters. Our only problem was having too many options to choose from. ❤️😆 Our server Jo was very friendly and helpful. Vegan milkshakes and the “Sheldon” (a tofu Rueben) are a must, and don’t skip dessert. Cannot wait to go back!!!
Amber K — Google review
Monty's never disappoints! Absolutely delicious food and their Bloody Mary is perfect for me. They serve breakfast all day and have an entire page of vegan options. I would eat there every day. Seriously.
Tamara M — Google review
Blue and retro! Monty’s is a diner with all the classics. Baked good for sale at the counter, all types of breakfast fixings (served all day), great vegan entrées, and Friday fish fries. Serving sizes are worthy of left overs. I had the Eggs Florentine, and it was great!

Hubbard Avenue Diner, located in downtown Middleton, is a classic diner offering homestyle comfort food and famous pies in a retro setting. They are known for serving up dishes like meatloaf, mashed potatoes, and all-day breakfast. The highlight of the diner is their wide selection of made-from-scratch pies that rotate monthly, featuring flavors ranging from apple to turtle.
Everything was excellent! The food was fresh, fast and very tasty! Bonus was the coffee is really good and they leave a small carafe on the table so you don't need to wait for a fill up.
Gayle R — Google review
The dining experience at this establishment was highly enjoyable. 😋🥳🎉 The restaurant offers traditional dishes that are exceptionally well-prepared. 👨‍🍳💯🌟 The grilled salmon was particularly flavorful, and the apple pie was a standout dessert. 🐟🥧😋

Hubbard Ave. Diner is as Americana as you can get. The food is all made daily on site. They’re known for all their pies. Thru offer different varieties dept ding in the season. All the food was good and service was nice. They offer meatloaf, burgers and fish fry Fridays typical to diners along with a decent menu. The popover rolls were served warm with butter! I liked that they chilled the salad plate and greens were nice and crisp. The turkey dinner was good and wholesome with a really good cranberry relish. The broasted 1/2 chicken was good too. We split a slice of caramel apple pie and I can say I loved it as the crust was really flaky!
Michelle F — Google review
We stopped here for lunch. It was busy but was seated in less than 10 minutes. Our waitress was prompt and friendly. I had a turkey bacon pesto sandwich and fries. It came out hot and plentiful. My husband had a Ruben sandwich and he said it was good.
Jane K — Google review
Excellent service, excellent breakfast with pie! We ordered the avocado sandwich, the Rise and Dine and the Juevos Rancheros, plus coconut creme pie. Just deliteful on a sunny holiday morning.

Discovered this lovely diner 6 years ago, and I knew it was going to be a great place when I saw the Action Comics poster on the wall! Now we go out of our way to add it to our trips! The food is always fantastic and we'll prepared, and the staff is always the friendliest! Love the 'pi' puns
Adam B — Google review
Pathetic. We've been eating at and ordering takeout/delivery from Hubbard Ave Diner for years, have spent thousands of dollars here and in the past always felt like it was worth it. Over the last several months it has now just become sad. Pic is from the order we had delivered tonight. Guess they didn't feel the need to provide us with the bread product that makes a burger a hamburger, would have been super nice if they had though. Don't feel like I need to explain the salad (please just refer back to the word at the beginning of this post). I also feel really uncomfortable with their decision not to use any type of covering whatsoever on the coleslaw cups we received because the takeout containers are rather gappy and you know it's summer and there's bugs and all, so that was also an unpleasant surprise to see upon opening our boxes this evening. Oh, they also gave us the wrong dressing...they did, however, include two cups of dressing as we had requested; but, it is one we find gross and it will not be eaten, so Hubbard Ave just created more paper and plastic waste for the planet all for nothing. I'm so tired of all of Madison's restaurants sucking so bad that I don't have the energy to write these reviews in an eloquent manner anymore but summing it up for this place, sometimes you'll get good food from here that was worth the money, sometimes you'll get food from here that appears to have been thrown around or made by preschoolers and very well not worth the money you paid for it. Hubbard Ave Diner used to be one of our very favorite restaurants but unfortunately not anymore.

Worth a visit whenever we are in the area. The food is good, portions are decent and the service is great. Plus the pies are amazing.

Sofra Family Bistro is a casual eatery in Middleton that specializes in creative Mediterranean, Balkan, and Albanian cuisine. Previously known as Bavaria Family Restaurant for over two decades, it underwent a transformation with a new concept and an Albanian-inspired menu. Despite the change, this family-owned establishment has maintained its commitment to quality food and service throughout its 31 years of operation.
This breakfast restaurant is one of the better options in the Madison area. They are sparing with oil so you wont feel heavy leaving, the coffee is good, and fresh fruit available. They have hash browns or a lightly roasted potato. Nice and quiet early morning. It’s a great place to stop with a quick kitchen and the restaurant is very clean.
Douglas G — Google review
Great gem in this fun neighborhood. Fantastic Albanian fare with many other options in the extensive menu. We couldn’t get enough of the homemade Albanian sausage. The hash browns with cheese and onion were stellar. Service is prompt and helpful. This is a simple easy going place. Other tables were all enjoying a peaceful calm day and moment to eat great food. The crepes were incredible, better than ones I have had in Paris. Tender, just right in sweetness and not gummy. Now let’s talk about the coffee! They have their own blend and it’s fantastic, real coffee with flavor and depth. We had 2 cups each. They also sell the beans. Great place for brunch. Will look forward to go and have dinner.

We stopped for our first visit around 11:30 am Sunday. I had Tuscan chicken sandwich and chicken tortilla soup (see pic) both are great! My guy had southwest chicken skillet and he liked it! Very busy, our wait for table was longer than wait for food.
Jennifer B — Google review
Sofra is the real deal when it comes to authentic Turkish cuisine. From the moment you walk in, you’re transported—warm hospitality, cozy ambiance, and food that feels like a love letter from Istanbul. Highly recommend the Turkish coffee—rich, bold, and beautifully presented. And if you’re there for breakfast, don’t miss the Albanian sausage and eggs—perfectly spiced and cooked to perfection. It’s one of those dishes you think about days later.

The atmosphere is beautiful, cozy, and classy. The food is unique and service was excellent. This is truly a family business and the family was very attentive and eager to please.

I've eaten here many times and have only ever had great experiences. The food is great, servers are friendly, and while I may be biased, it's located in a very cute area in Middleton. My go-to place for breakfast. Can certainly get a bit crowded at certain peak breakfast rushes, but worth the wait and very nice if you can dodge the crowds.

Good quick stop for brunch food. Gyro was a bit dry. Fries were good.

We had very tasty gyros for lunch. The owner, Zamira, was very friendly and her friend even left us with some complimentary caramel apples. They also have beautiful arrangements outside that make lunch feel like it is in Europe. Best spot in Middleton.

C's Restaurant & Bakery is a charming eatery nestled on Allen Boulevard near Lake Mendota, offering a delightful blend of breakfast and lunch options in a cozy, retro setting. This beloved local gem has been serving up homemade baked goods for nearly four decades, including scrumptious fruit and cream pies, muffins, scones, and their famous cinnamon rolls.
This is exactly what every local breakfast spot should be: A homey environment with homemade comfort food and friendly service! The cinnamon swirl pancakes are truly a highlight — they’re huge, so share an order for the table and everyone will leave in a better mood! The skillets and omelettes are hearty and the hash browns are perfect. Don’t forget to grab some fresh bakery items on your way out. This place is a gem and I will stop here every time I’m in the area.
Rick R — Google review
I’d like to preface by saying that this review is not about the food, it’s about the service and overall experience dining at this place. We’ve been to this restaurant three times. The first time was great, but being huge coffee lovers, we noticed that their coffee was very light. We let it slide, since it was our first time, and we thought perhaps it was just an off-day for whoever is brewing their coffee. However, on our second time, we noticed that the coffee was still made the same way - very light roast. We asked the server if we could have at least a medium roast, and her response was, this is how they make their coffee because most of their customers are elderly and don’t like their coffee that strong. We still went there a third time, because we really liked the food, but this time we stopped by at nearby Starbucks to get our coffee before going into this restaurant. We were promptly greeted and seated, but when the server came, she said, “Next time, you should finish your coffee first before coming in”. We told her that we prefer our coffee a certain way and that’s not something that this restaurant is able to offer, so we decided to bring our own coffee. She then said, “You don’t bring your own beer to a bar when you don’t like their beer”. And I replied, “We’re here for the food, not for the coffee.” And of course, at this point, we just stood up and left, mentally crossing off this place from our favorites list. I understand the principle behind not letting outside food in, but most places are able to accommodate and make an exemption on items that they are not able to offer, or are not on their menu. And quite honestly, if I’m a business owner, I wouldn’t want to lose $50 worth of business over a $2 cup of coffee. Especially not on a day when you only have 6 customers dining in.
Floresa B — Google review
We like to try new places when we are out of town. So we found this place via a google search and so glad we did. Food and service were amazing. This will be our go to when in the area. Also if they ask if you want your elephant ear grilled say yes! Oh so good!!
Jennifer — Google review
An awesome traditional american breakfast spot. It’s great when you walk in and everyone is a local. They had a great selection of just about anything you could think of, omelette, pancakes, scrambles, skillets, etc. My boyfriend said they were some of the best pancakes he’d ever had. My omelette was good, wasn’t out of this world but it was cheesy and had a nice balance of every ingredient. I would loved a little more ham. Very good for a quick bite, they are fast and efficient! Definitely will come again, looking forward to trying more of the menu.
Mary W — Google review
Our first time going here and it was a great experience. Trisha, our waitress was amazing and very friendly, sweet, kind and full of joy. She made our first experience great. We are from the south and good customer service is what we are use too back home and she made a great expression. The food was wonderful, I had blueberry pancake and skillet hash and my spouse had the hungry man. Portions were a great size. I do plan to visit again next time I'm in the area. I will say the customer service is what made the whole visit worth it. Thank you very much Trisha, keep smiling, because it making others smile.
Lost L — Google review
Nice, comfortable atmosphere. Ample portions. We had the typical steak and eggs, but then we went for their suggestions for what were some of their popular specialties...the Wisconsin Country Skillet and the Cinnamon Roll Sandwich. The steak for the steak and eggs was 6oz, so very nice for a breakfast. My skillet was off the charts. I gobbled that up shamelessly. But the Cinnamon Roll Sandwich was truly a unique take on a bacon and egg sandwich, savory and sweet at the same time with excellent balance. The server did a great job offering thoughts, checking back, and being cheerful. The server was slightly forgetful missing my orange juice and jam that is not on the table, but really that happens everywhere. So, it was a nice experience at a good price.
Delta F — Google review
This is one of those local family style restaurants that have good food you can count on them and they are well priced good service and sometimes hard to find these days. It’s just a lovely family owned restaurant that’s been there for years. They are only open till 1 o’clock in the afternoon. They open early I believe at 6 AM but you can always count on them for a good breakfast or an early lunch, their handicap access Plenty of parking and they always have the newspaper there too so if you’re a single person just popping in to have a quick breakfast with some good coffee you can set at the counter, which is very popular and enjoy the paper with your meal. I also love the pancakes and they have good biscuits and gravy and the service is excellent and the extra little treat as they always have a decorated for the holidays and they have special collectible items that they put out at Christmas. It’s cozy. It’s company and I highly recommend it.
Lauren W — Google review
Cute place to grab breakfast! Food was amazing. Had an omelet and it was fluffy and packed full of ingredients! The hashbrowns are one of a kind with ingredients packed in and looks like they shred potatoes in house. Then the homemade breads! Honestly, this is a good to more often for me! Fresh baked sweet items at the counter...can't believe this place is in Middleton.

I just recently visited and I was very impressed. Not only was the place slammed but it looked like the line was never ending. We were sat within 5 minutes and our server was always quick to get us everything we needed. Plus the food was immaculate and quick to come out. Will be back for another birthday breakfast!!

This one actually makes me kind of sad because I ate here solo prior and had a decent experience being waited on . I brought my infant daughter today for a late breakfast. When I came in the restaurant was slightly busy, which is not a problem at all. I noticed that I was the minority and asked if it was OK if me and my daughter Ate here. The gentleman at the counter, the hostess assured me that it was fine. Immediately after going into the waiting area to wait the designated a time, a large group of lovely white males came in and were immediately seated and greeted. As another African-American that came in with that same group was told that he would have to wait as well . Outside of optics. It looks like the African-Americans were told to wait while everyone else got immediate seating. I personally just did not feel safe there with my infant child and didn’t want to create any uncomfortable scenarios for the staff for having to serve African-Americans. I think the food is fine. But now I question my dining experience and not just for me, but any other person of color that would like to simply try food at this location.

The breakfast portions were pretty generous and tasty. Only critique was the crepe was thick..other than that, everything was delicious . Loved the old-school decor.
G C — Google review
The place was crowded but people were moving in and out fast, so the wait wasn’t long at all. It tooka while for the food to come out though. But the servers were consistently checking our coffee the entire time which was nice. The food was really worth the wait. I ordered Sierra omelette which had plenty of steak that was perfectly cooked. Everything goes so well together, especially the marinara sauce on top that balances out the cheesy, meaty and greasy taste of normal omelette. It was one of the best omelette I had in a while. The place is not close to where I live but I will sure stop by if I go to the area.

Great old spot that Lisa and I have been coming to on and off again for almost thirty years now. We haven't been here for a while and decided to have breakfast after visiting an art gallery on the West side of town. I had the Albanian skillet which was glorious in presentation, but even better tasting. I'm still thinking about it almost a week later. Lisa had the ham and cheese omelette minus the cheese. So good. So good. So good. SooooOoOoooOoo Good!!! If everyone knew about this place...all the other breakfast joints would be closed. Try it. You're gonna like it. A lot. You're gonna like it A lot!!!

This quickly became my favorite breakfast place in Madison. 1) not only do you get coffee in a real mug, it’s waiting for you at the table (I keep getting plastic cups other places and it’s frustrating) 2) someone was around to offer refills every 5 minutes. My mug was literally never empty. The food was amazing, their chorizo skillet is delicious and it was great portions for the pricing (I work on a farm and am always hungry, I was actually full all morning for once in my life). And their PANCAKES are fantastic. You can sub the toast out for them for just $0.50 and they are a great deal. Finally the ambiance is a real classic American diner, everyone was nice and super helpful. I absolutely loved this place and will be forcing everyone I know to come back with me.

1st visit (before Covid) Nice place, been in business a long time. Good serving sizes. Triple berry french toast was excellent. Irish skillet was good. Lots of melted mozzarella cheese on top of corn beef hash and hash browns. Pancakes were just ok. See pics 2nd visit (after Covid, 2 years later). French toast is still awesome with generous strawberries and whipped cream for just $1.99 extra. The hot syrup is wonderful to drizzle on top! This time I had the Wisconsin Skillet (ham, onion, green pepper melted cheese, mushrooms) and two eggs done perfectly over medium. Used a coupon from local Bucky Book. Not quite a Bogo because coupon maxes out ar $6,70, but paid for the coffee at least. Service was fast and our server Colton was great.

Café Hollander Hilldale is a European-style cafe located in the Hilldale Mall on the West side of Madison. It offers a vintage-chic vibe and is known for serving Belgian beers and comfort-food fare. The café is popular for brunch, especially during winter when they provide domes for outdoor enjoyment even on chilly days. They also offer great brunch mocktails that mimic the flavors of alcoholic drinks.
This is a huge restaurant with lots of sitting options. The outdoor rooftop area was so nice on a beautiful day. The cocktails were delicious! The lunch menu had a variety of options.

I don’t frequently go to chain restaurants but I happened to be in Hilldale area in Madison and decided to grab a bite to eat at this location of Cafe Hollander . There was no wait and we were immediately seated which was great . Hostess was really nice and pleasant . Our server brought our menus and explained the basics . She was also very nice and did a good job . Menu had a big beer selection and a variety of pub style food . Many vegetarian and gluten free options as well which was nice to see . I chose the Sangria to quench my thirst and it was good and very refreshing! I was not very hungry so I got the bruschetta flatbread . I had asked our server if it was enough for one person and she explained it was a good portion . I enjoyed it ! Restaurant was quiet and that was okay for me . Service was good and fast . Would come back again to try out other dishes again

Wonderful outdoor seating! I ordered the Americana with over medium eggs and bacon. My mom ordered the Breakfast Tacos. My food was hot and delicious and the breakfast potatoes were particularly tasty. I’m not a fan of multigrain toast though. I had one of the tacos too and they were super yummy and filling. They were also decently spicy but like a flavorful spicy. If I happen to be at Hilldale again, I’d love to stop by and try their dinner!

This is a place I keep coming back to everything I've tried here is always delicious. The only small hiccup is the service: after being seated, it took a little while to be greeted by a server. Once we connected, our server was friendly and attentive, though water didn’t come with our drinks. Overall, the food and atmosphere are fantastic.

The food is absolutely delicious—every dish we had was perfectly executed and seasoned. The service was also impeccable; our server was attentive, friendly, and very helpful. The only downside? The line is incredibly long, and the wait can be significant. However, given the quality of the food and the excellent staff, it is absolutely worth the wait!

What is not to love here? Great atmosphere, large drink selection and the cocktails are tasty! Food menu is lovely, and some items are unique and my beet burger was delicious! The vegan garlic aioli was tragically fantastic! Great spot for drinks, brunch, snacks, family dinners, celebrations of all kinds or just a quick relaxation. 100/100 suggest!

Love this place! Food is SO GOOD. I reccomend the pretzel bites and cheese curds for apps. My family loves the toastie, tomato soup and the chicken bowl. The atmosphere is great and it’s such a nice place for a family dinner

Good food and service ! The big smokey burger was very good (and the sweet potato fries too) 🍔 🍟 🍠 I was initially trying to decide between 3 options, waitress mentioned she liked this one, I decided to try it and the recommendation worked out well

If you're on the hunt for a delightful breakfast experience, look no further than the Original Pancake House. This charming eatery serves up signature pancakes and a variety of classic American breakfast dishes all day long, making it an ideal spot for families and food lovers alike. The casual atmosphere invites you to relax while enjoying their delicious offerings. With attentive staff ensuring your dining experience is top-notch, it's no wonder this place is always bustling with patrons eager to indulge in their mouthwatering menu.
This place definitely lives up to the hype. Great food, timely service, and fairly priced, too. Most places aren't giving you half as much as you get here for the same price. Be ready for a small feast. If you're looking for great food to share, I suggest the apple pancake. It'll take a bit to cook but is unique and delicious.

One of the most authentic American diners I’ve been to! The pancakes, hash browns, and bacon were absolutely delicious, and the staff was super friendly. If you’re craving a classic and tasty breakfast, you’ve got to check this place out!🥞🥓

Food was great! Price wasn’t too bad as well. The place was very packed and busy, however our party of 5 was seated in ~15 minutes! Pictured below are the French Crepes, Combo w Chocolate Chip Pancakes, and Buttermilk Pancakes.

Just moved to Middleton from Atlanta and decided to check out The Original Pancake House today. Wow — the food was absolutely delicious and the service was super friendly! I couldn't believe how huge the portions were. I had the mushroom crêpes, bacon, and sausage — everything hit the spot. It's definitely a new favorite!

I did not eat inside, but was lucky enough to order their take-out service which is sometimes not available because they are so busy. This is one of the best breakfasts I've had in Madison. Don't sleep on their breakfast burrito. The homemade salsa was fantastic. My boyfriend had the Western omelet and it looked massive and delicious. We also tried the sourdough pancakes which were really good as well. I am so excited to dine in soon.

Tasty Dutch Baby. Nice service, but they were busy so being sat next to the kitchen area meant a lot of server traffic always near us. We felt a little cramped at our four top table, but I bet a booth is great! The black tea wasn't good, but pretty typical for diner fare.

This is truly one of the best restaurants. Management is wonderful and staff are all so well trained, polite, and attentive. Food is always fantastic and prices are very reasonable. Fresh squeezed orange juice is actually fresh squeezed. Fruit is so fresh, and food is always hot. I've been coming here for years and have never had a bad experience.

A Madison favorite!! The food and service are exceptional!! I have enjoyed everything I have ever ordered. When my daughter is in town, this is where she wants to go for breakfast!! Amounts are quite large so I end up being half my meal home to enjoy later! If you are coming on a Sunday, arrive before 9 as it becomes very busy and people are more than willing to wait!

Prairie Cafe & Bakery is a straightforward cash-only coffeehouse that specializes in freshly baked goods, soups, and sandwiches. This local establishment serves breakfast and lunch, with daily specials available. Customers can enjoy a clean restaurant with ample seating space, reminiscent of a library due to its Frank Lloyd Wright architecture. The menu offers a variety of options for both breakfast and lunch, including à la carte items for those looking for lighter fare.
Excellent cafe very popular for breakfast and lunch on lazy weekends morning. Great location, seating, a very well laid out menu to select from. We ordered chicken salad, wrap and chicken burgers with coffee and milk shake. Portion and quality was top notch. Must visit if you are in Madison.

Well it goes without saying that the lemon-blueberry scones absolutely rock. My experience other than that has been the omelets, all of which I enjoyed. Pleasant atmosphere. Can get loud with conversation when busy but not overwhelming. Some outdoor seating. Staff has always been friendly.

Nestled in the heart of downtown Middleton, Barriques is a charming café that has been delighting locals since 2003. This inviting spot offers an extensive coffee and espresso bar alongside a delightful selection of light fare, including breakfast bowls, sandwiches, wraps, and quiches. The seasonal specialty drinks are a must-try; imagine savoring a creamy maple pumpkin latte in autumn or indulging in a white candy cane mocha during winter months.
Reasonably priced coffee and a nice space (w/plenty of room) to do work or talk with friends. Recently tried the pistachio mint latte ($5.75 for a 12oz), which was surprisingly good (not too sweet and the flavors weren’t overwhelming). I love the natural light & high ceilings at this location, really makes the whole place feel spacious! There’s also quite a large selection of wines available for purchase in the front.

Nice coffee shop with decent coffee. I got a gingerbread latte, which was good. Average in taste so a decent place to stop by when in need of some coffee. The service was great. As for atmosphere, the place is half a liquor store which makes it feel oddly dynamic for a coffee shop. I didn't mind, but could see it as possible distracting if you want to get work done. But there's also seating nooks around so that your not so much in the store front part of the cafe. There's even a cute, cozy fireplace and some nice decor peices to look at like the stained glass art at the window!
Magda — Google review
For $7-8 a pop, common decency, courtesy and a decent beverage was all that we expected. Instead, the woman who made our drinks treated us with utter disdain and contempt for asking if we could have our lattes in a latte cup with a saucer (and a handle so we could enjoy it in the shop, without burning our hands). She gave me a scowl and said no, period. She said it was too difficult for her to pour without spilling and said the only method by which we could drink our lattes was from the beer pints. I asked again if we could please have a latte cup as the hot beverage in a beer pint was too hot to hold in our hands and enjoy. Her response again was a flat no, dripping with impatience. She was unwilling to accommodate our simple request. We observed a woman sitting across from us drinking her latte from a latte cup with a saucer. She refused to acknowledge this clear contradiction when I pointed it out. Customer service is not in this employee’s toolbox. We returned our beer pint lattes and headed across to Grace where we were treated with kindness and offered three size options for our delicious lattes - all cups and saucers.

We ordered “double” shot latte but we couldn’t drink because it was so milky and when I told them it was milky their response was we can add one more espresso for 2.75$ . Thank you for “good” offer

Barriques is a cute, cozy coffee shop/wine shop/liquor store (only in Wisconsin lol). The atmosphere is lively, but not overwhelming, and the selection of drinks provides a variety of options for everyone. Staff are friendly and welcoming, with a cherry, helpful air to their service. I enjoyed my iced chai latte immensely, especially on a hot, humid sunny day. 😋

Nestled along Parmenter Street, Paul's Neighborhood Bar is a charming and unpretentious spot that has been serving the Middleton community since 1996. Founded by local residents Paul Haas and his children, Dannon and Michelle, this bar is adorned with sports memorabilia and offers a delightful array of American comfort food alongside enticing nightly drink specials.
I’ve always loved going to Paul’s for a drink but had never gone for the Friday Fish Fry. I always heard great things about it so had to give it a try finally!! It was definitely tasty and it’s ALL YOU CAN EAT!!!! You rarely find that anywhere anymore. We will definitely be back for this deal again. You can mix it up, try different sides, and add on a salad bar trip for only $3. The salad bar was kept clean and had plenty of options. Very delicious! Our server was very attentive and nice as well.

My husband and I really enjoyed this place. We wanted to find a place to enjoy a Bloody Mary. We met the owners son and he was super friendly! However we are also super friendly and the older woman bartender was not. We felt like she didn’t do a great job in making us feel welcomed at all. She was short and not warm. I just feel in the customer service industry she did not do the place justice that it deserved.

This place is our go-to before a round of golf. The staff is the best. They are friendly, fast, and always take care of us. The food is solid and always hits the mark. We stop in for breakfast and a great cocktail, leave with a full belly and a good buzz, and head to the course ready to go. Quick, easy, and exactly what we need. Our golf rounds just wouldn't be the same without it.

Walked in the door with my wife looking to get a couple of beers, no seats at the bar, quick bartender noticed me and sold me a couple cold miller lites, a very small high top with two seats was open and we sat down. Got about halfway through our beers a waitress walked over and said get up you can't sit here because it's going to get busy, you'll have to stand or leave. I've managed and owned bars. That's simply not how you treat people. She would've made plenty of $ keeping my beers full and I would've probably ate later. Get with it, train your staff.

Nestled in the heart of Middleton, Starbucks is a beloved Seattle-based coffeehouse chain that has become a staple for locals and visitors alike. Known for its signature roasts and light bites, this cozy spot also offers convenient WiFi access, making it an ideal place to relax or catch up on work. With two locations on Greenway Boulevard and Allen Boulevard, both featuring inviting outdoor patios, it's perfect for enjoying your favorite brew al fresco.
Despite SB being a chain, not everyone makes the drinks correctly. This one does, for sure! Best one on the west side of Madison! But I think other people know it cause it can get super busy and you could be waiting 20-30 for your drink. I usually just order ahead, and it's almost always ready on time and delish! Plus, it was made correctly 90% of the time, which is more than I can say for the 4 other ones in the area. 😅 In their defense, 2 of them are inside stores. 😉

Ordered through mobile order. Got my drink through the drive through and drove way. Once again disappointed with Starbucks. Ordered a Pumpkin Cream Chai… well I got the chai and that’s it. The drink is missing the season toppings and I got a drop of cold foam. Looks like they used the cold foam for another drink and I got the “rest” of it. Not worth paying $8 for a drink that has something wrong with it every time.
Ali R — Google review
Went through the drive through with my daughter. Got to the window and the total was $17.04. I gave the cashier $20.04, but she did not see the $0.04 until she entered $20 in the register. The cashier gave me back $2.96, and I asked for $3 back (she did not return my 4 cents). She said she could not do that because it would throw the register off. I insisted it wouldn't but she said it has in the past. When I tried to get a dollar for the .96 +.04, she became upset and told me not to argue with her (still insisting that it would throw the register off because she entered only $20). I took my change and left. I go to that Starbucks often, and have always had super friendly customer service. I write this in hopes that the management at Starbucks ensures that people running the register understand basic math, and have the patience to listen to the customer. I am guessing the gal is a good person (the line was long, and I am sure she felt pressure), but she should probably not be running the register. Food and drink was good, as usual.
Noel K — Google review
Not sure if the cashier lady just had a bad day or I got picked on because I’m Asian so she decided to give me some attitude. Come in during morning hours and I had the HARDEST time order a drink in Starbucks EVER. For some reason she couldn’t hear me for anything. For one, never had the voice issue in any other Starbucks before. For two, I increased my volume EveryTime she said she can’t hear. Drink size, extra shoot, less syrup . Each request i need to repeat 2-3 times. I should probable yell at her so she can hear me better. It was way too awkward and uncomfortable. Finally got my drink, but the wrong size (gave me grande vs venti) for correct amount of shot and syrup. How you got wrong the first request but correctly the rest? If you just decided to give me whatever you want why you ask me to repeat?? I said I ordered venti, she said she couldn't hear me. Ironically she can hear me this time perfectly fine without me repeating 2-3 times. Drink is yummy. Do not recommend order inside.
Christina S — Google review
Want to give feedback- don’t have mobile orders available through a drive thru if you get upset if customers actually use it. Stated in drive thru window that I had a mobile order under my name I was given a “ this was placed 2 minutes and 10 seconds ago , it’s not ready pull around “. I also have screenshots of me still in drive thru and it stated ready around 140pm on the app. I drove up and went off that time. I also went through and get my coffee at 146pm. I showed at the window where it stated that it was going to be ready around 1:40 PM and I was told that “ it doesn’t really work “ as an answer so then maybe don’t treat the customer like she did something wrong if she went off of that time, how was I supposed to know that? Starbucks wonders why they’re closing stores and having profit issues … it’s not because we the consumers won’t pay for a six dollar coffee … it’s because every single time we go it’s bad customer service.

McDonald's is a timeless fast-food institution celebrated for its iconic burgers and crispy fries. While it has long been a favorite among many, some recent experiences have highlighted concerns about the freshness of the food and service efficiency. Patrons have noted that staffing shortages can lead to delays, making quick orders more challenging. Despite these hiccups, there's hope for improvement in the coming months as loyal customers plan to return for another taste of their beloved menu items.

This IS NOT the most convenient location for me even though it's closest to where I live and work. They make it incredibly inconvenient because they almost never get it right. It doesn't seem to matter if it is a mobile order, counter order or drive-thru. The service is prompt but really terrible. The order is often wrong and it's on you to make sure you get what you paid for, they seem unable to work with the codes from the app - they take the code, enter it, say it isn't working and ask for the next code that comes up on the app, and then they say you can't get the code discount because it's already been redeemed for the day…when THEY are the ones who just redeemed it right in front of me. When this happens, they usually get a manager involved, but it doesn't always work and you better be prepared to wait way longer than "fast" for your food. It happens so often that I feel like there's something wrong with the way they have their system programmed at this location. Today was a new low. Whoever was training the trainee needs to be trained. I'm honestly happy to spend an extra 10 minutes to go to a different location, including one that I believe is the same franchise owner, because I'll ultimately save time and I'm pleased with a correct order and food that isn't cold.

Every Tuesday for the past three weeks, I’ve made this place my regular stop before going to work. Typically, it's hard to understand the folks working the drive-through, but with a little patience on my part, we’re able to work through it. So I was surprised this morning when I placed the same order I make every time: one number six meal, and another number six—just the sandwich—with orange juice. I knew something was off right away when I got to the first window and wasn’t offered a receipt. I assumed it would be in the bag, but that wasn’t the case. Then they handed me an orange Fanta (who the hell drinks soda in the morning). I told them I had asked for juice, and that’s when things went south. The lady from the first window came to the second window and started arguing with me, even calling me a liar. She then said, “Fine, you can have the juice, but it’ll cost you extra.” I ended up being charged for two drinks, even though I only took the orange juice. When I asked her for the store number, she refused to provide it. This is not the level of service I’ve come to expect from McDonald’s. This is the worst McDonald I've ever been to.

Here is my delicious Bacon Egg and Cheese breakfast sandwich that I ordered on their app...notice any issues. Called to report the problem as I was already at work. Nobody even answers the phone and I doubt highly they return my call. How somebody could even pick this up and bag it and not realize they forgot to put any meat or egg or cheese in there is beyond me. Clearly they have a special staff over there. Do better!!!!

Just went through the drive through. The person taking my order couldn't understand me, I don't know if it was a language barrior or if they mic system is that bad. She got another person on the mic and still, things I didn't want were ending up on my order. I wanted MelloYellow or Mountain Dew which I finally understood they don't carry and on the board were a bunch if 'CosMc' drinks that I've never heard of. I gave up and went to Arby's

Went to the drive thru and the person running it was very disrespectful and rude. I was going to leave mid order, but thought maybe he’s stressed or having a rough day. When we said we were ready to order he said ok. He kept sighing after everything I said or when I needed a minute. We got a meal and there was a 30 cent added charge so when I asked why, he said I don’t know what you’re talking about. I said when you added the drink it charged 30 cents but it’s supposed to come with the drink. He said I don’t see that. Then he redid the order and fixed it and said is that better? And said next window, cheers.

IHOP is a well-established chain that offers a diverse selection of pancakes and other classic American breakfast and diner dishes. The quality of the food is commendable, and the staff members are exceptional, displaying signs of effective management. They work diligently to cater to a bustling restaurant, always wearing smiles on their faces and exuding positivity. I have visited this establishment twice already, and I definitely plan on returning in the future. Cleanliness and organization are evident throughout the restaurant's premises.
I have not been to an IHOP in many years and was not excited to go again. I was delightfully surprised. There was an abundance of food offered on the menu, and the variety was very good. Definitely not just pancakes. There was consideration for different diets. The service was great and the restaurant was very clean. They were easily able to accommodate our large group and several others in the restaurant at the same time. You can't beat the prices. The food was delivered fast, and they didn't seem to mind that we stayed long. I will happily go again.

I chose to sit at the breakfast bar and ordered the Red White And Blue Special. It was fresh and delicious. The place is clean and service was friendly and the attentiveness to asking about your meal was on point. I only had to pay for my coffee which is not part of this Veterans deal today. If your able, I think it's worth it to set up the phone app. ahead of time. I did it while there and had to pay for my coffee separately so I could add in my card information later into the application. I'm set up to earn their Pancake 🥞 crypto so it's an added value to your time and spending money there in that platform and the Restraunt and business itself. Alot of older people might be missing out as they are uninterested in figuring out the internet applications. Overall a nice enough experience and menu to make me want to go there more to enjoy their menu and earn free stuff at the same time. Btw, the bacon has AWSOME Flavor!

6/13/25 update: Stopped in for lunch and tried the Fisherman Platter and the Crispy Fish Platter. Both were hot, crispy and delicious. See new pictures and like them if you agree! Original Review: We went to this IHOP location on a Thursday morning and it was not busy at all. We are used to having to wait at local Perkins and Dennys in the area. Not busy usually equates to not good, but we were pleasantly surprised by the good service by Francisco and the great food. Prices are generally in the $8 to $13 price range, but portion sizes were good. My wife had the 55+ Breakfast Sampler (1 egg, 1 pancake. 1 sausage link, 1 hashbrown, 1 ham slice, 1 bacon slice). It was great! She really enjoyed the perfectly cooked over easy egg, the hashbrown and the ham! I had the Philly Cheese Steak Stacker Sandwich. They allowed me to substitute whole grain bread and breakfast potatoes as my side with NO upcharge. It was fantastic, super tasty and very filling. We will be back! See pics and short video.

I haven’t been to an IHOP in a long time. I don’t think I ever ate lunch at one. So I had no idea what to expect. I ordered the classic cheeseburger, with a side salad. The burger and the salad were much better than I expected. I used to think $15 for lunch was expensive, but it’s not much more than fast food anymore.

The atmosphere was nice and the place appeared clean at first glance, but unfortunately, our experience went downhill quickly. We had to kill three ants crawling on our table — not all at once, but three separate times during our meal. It was pretty gross and killed my appetite. I ordered an omelet, which was dry and overcooked — the eggs just didn’t taste fresh. My husband enjoyed his food though, which is the only reason I'm giving this place 2 stars. The service was painfully slow. When we were seated, the waitress just dropped off the menus without saying a word. After finally bringing our food, she didn’t check on us again until we were completely done eating. When it came time to pay, I placed my credit card on the check right away, but she disappeared for over 10 minutes, leaving us just sitting there waiting to leave. There were only 4 other tables occupied while we were there, so the slow service wasn’t due to a rush. All in all, the bugs, the overcooked food, and the inattentive service made this a place I wouldn’t return to.

The wait for a table was short. I did have to avoid the scrambled eggs and silverware under the table. The blueberry pancakes were very good. The rest was about average. You're better off finding a non-chain restaurant for quality bacon and eggs. Service was sparse but friendly.

Barriques Coffee - Old Sauk is a delightful café that offers a relaxed atmosphere perfect for enjoying coffee, beer, and light bites. Whether you're in the mood for breakfast, brunch, or lunch, their menu has something to satisfy your cravings. The Kegonsa bowl is a standout dish—served hot and generously portioned—paired perfectly with the sweet Green Monkey smoothie.
Large and tasty sandwiches with nicely toasted sourdough. The coffee drinks were also good. Reasonably priced and has a cozy cafe vibe. Recommended for brunch!

Delicious pickin's for breakfast, brunch or lunch! 💯 Had The Kegonsa bowl (served hot) with The Green Monkey smoothie. The bowl was so good I didn't even need dressing. It was also surprisingly large. I had to force eat the last few fork fulls of it because I was full, but didn't want to waste what was left. (This was post-workout too!)The smoothie hit the spot. Its flavor was very sweet & distinct. Not quite apple, but not overwhelmed by the banana or spinach either which was refreshing for a smoothie with those ingredients. Calm atmosphere. Was busy with a long line, but still relaxing place with atmospheric music playing in the background. Friendly & efficient staff. One of my favorite stops in Madison. 💚 (High recommendation for Vegetarian food in Madison)

Coffee is great, the place is nice and cozy, pretty good selection of wine and ok selection of craft beers. The baristas we're super slow on making drinks, otherwise I'd definitely give it another star, will try it again and for sure, big plus on the free WiFi, as always, make sure you use a VPN and protect your devices when using unsecured networks.

It was very clean and calm I loved the atmosphere. I ordered the berry berry smoothie and it was really good. The banana bread was not very good.

Consistent tasty beverages for many years at Barrique's. I am grateful they are around for the occasional splurge. Maple scone and miel latte were good. They also have a great selection of wines and chocolate!

The ideal coffee shop bakery experience. Friendly, personable people, outstanding espresso and the best cookies and scones I've had in a long time. We'll be going back next time we're in Madison!

My 20 oz decaf latte was room temperature in about 3 minutes because it wasn’t really hot when I picked it up for my table. I ordered a breakfast bowl that was hot on the top and the root vegetables were all cold on the bottom and it was served in a to go plastic container when I was not a “to go” order. And they missed the extra bacon which I paid for. The only thing respectable about my visit this late morning was the maple nut scone (which was by default) as they were out of several other options by 1139 am.

I’ve visited here twice the past 3 days, the best part was the friendly staff. visiting the area It seems this Barriques does not quite live up to the standards set by other stores. No soap in RR, it was clean, but not in good condition. The poor staff is discombobulated and untrained causing long wait for simple orders. No AC this poor crew. It’s 76’ outside but probably 80’ inside at 6:30 am. The owner needs to visit and get this place in shape for their staff. Pride from the owner will have a trickledown affect Hang in there ladies it’s gonna be hot one later 🫤

If you're on the lookout for a health-conscious spot that serves up delicious blended drinks, look no further than Smoothie King! This vibrant chain offers an impressive array of smoothies packed with fruits and veggies, catering to all taste preferences. During my recent visit while in town for some hockey action, I was blown away by the fantastic flavors and choices available. The staff truly made my experience memorable; their friendly demeanor and helpful recommendations were top-notch!
I don’t have a smoothie king where I live, so as I was passing by I had to stop. I had the strawberry metabolism boost and it was really good. Although the prices are steep for larger sizes, it will last you a long time and fill you up like a meal would. The staff were really friendly and timely! Obviously will stop again if I pass through.

Came here with my son for smoothies and had a great experience! The staff was extremely courteous, friendly, and helpful—especially when it came to making smoothie recommendations. Our drinks were made quickly and tasted great. Definitely a spot we’d come back to!

How long does it take to make a smoothie at a dedicated smoothie shop? Based on my timer the previous few visits, upwards of 10 minutes. Tasty and generally well made but expect to wait.

We ordered two smoothies and both were great. My wife had the Vegan Dark Chocolate Banana smoothie and I had the Yogurt D-Lite with Mango smoothie. You get a choice of one fruit or veggie to add and there are 27 to choose from!! I did enjoy the Mango. Tammy made us two great smoothies! We found the small (20 ounce) size plenty big and filling, but they also offer 32 and 40 ounce sizes. I posted pictures of the menu instore, but if you look in the app you can see even more choices of smoothies and the add-ins and available modifications. I definitely recommend downloading the app which is easy to use.

Just visited this place and love it.. From Minnesota and was in town for some Capitols Hockey and had some time before practice. LET ME TELL YOU. AMAZING..Great flavor and choices.. Also the 2 girls working gave the best customer service and information to new customers... I would come back just because of the customer service and politeness of both of them and also enjoy the Smoothies. GREAT JOB!!! BEST Smoothie store anywhere!!!
