The 50 best coffee shops and best cafes in Makassar

I came here on Saturday, so the place is crowded and lively (don't know for the workdays, I'm not a Makassar resident, on holiday here). The atmosphere was good enough for hang out, but if you want to work here please reconsider because the place is so crowded and noisy (afraid you cannot concentrate here). Beverages and food tasted so so for me, the Jakarta branch was better. The parking ticket (if you bring a car) was so expensive hahaha, so surprised when the parking staff gave us the ticket. The parking space itself was so full. Staffs inside the cafe were nice and informative and also quick.

Suprisingly cozy, neat place. Affordable price with great taste. You can find origin coffee here. Good for hangout and meeting. Have indoor and outdoor room (there's also for smoker). Friendly and kind barista; serves well. You can find charging station (for phones and laptop) easily almost near every seats. Big parking lot available. Quick serve time and great coffee presentation.

Either you are a Frappe Hunter, or a coffee connoisseur, you must give this place a try. They offer Indonesian coffees, with various methods of brewing, V60, French Press, etc. Do try their breakfast and main menu, and at the time of writing, they have breakfast deal up until 10:00 with free coffee. The cafe atmosphere is good, as you can see in the photos attached. The people/baristas are friendly and nice, albeit a bit shy. They don't talk much, but make no mistake, they are very knowledgable people. You can ask many things about coffee. (if you are lucky, they might even pull you a double-rosetta latte!). Definitely not one of the cheaper places in town, but then again, I think it's worth it! Like the saying, "Quality comes with price!" 😉 Do come earlier in the morning when you can, while the air is still fresh. They provide smoking area (which I do not venture in since I detest cigarette smoke).

I was a big fan of Anomali, Jakarta stores, 10 years ago. I used to buy my Wamena beans from them. They were the pioneer of cool sleek café with their torrefaction machine in display, their very clear single origin map, their explanations about Coffee beans. The Makassar store ia nice , quite modern, with concrete, wooden furniture, good lightings. But the food sucks. We had a frozen pizza at 90 k, that we waited for ever. In Europe, these pizza cost 2 euros in a supermarket, and after you microwave them, they taste better than the one we had in Anomali . I ordered a cheese cake, as I had good memories of the same pastry I used to buy from them a few years back. That one wasn't good as alld I left half of it on the plate. Very unusual behavior from me , who tries as much as possible to finish up the food I have been served. We first sit indoor, but the AC was 🥶 and decided to move in the yard, where a strong chlorine smell was emanating from the toilets. It's expensive, having paid 144 for 2 drinks and a cheese cake, and 90k for that frozen piece of Shiite. They serve drinks, hot and cold in paper cupsz , that is much better than plastic glasses. We visited 4 or 5 cafés during our 2 weeks in Makassar. Anomali is at the bottom of them. There are many better and cheaper places.

The cafe is pretty creative for the theme which shows us many kinds of flowers, although the place is quite small. Food and drink taste delicious, and the cafe has lots of varieties of them. Unfortunately the parking lot is not available. So we should park the vehicles if many people attend.

Smoking room available and very neat, the staffs are helpful and they serve fast. Not many choice for coffee lovers, but the atmosphere is nice. Recommended for couple and small groups. The main theme is about green and nature, good for photo and instagramable for youngsters. You may find the sign near the main road, won't miss it.

From outside looks good. It has a lot of plants that's why we decided to went to this cafe. The food taste usual nothing special. We order 3 kind of noodles and it has same ingredient just different ketchup amount make it different. The service, the waiter disappear so easily. No one in the cashier and that make this place looks deserted.

Visiting this cafe with my big family. Good concept, garden!!! So green everywhere. Cool!!! But the meal is so long we waited. And they had a price high just for tea!!! But cool for hangout.

for a study place? A YES, the ambience of this place at morning, noon and night are immaculate for studying. Need to come here more often, the only down side here that it doesn’t allow any cash, which of course as a cash user, it’s a bad thing for me ^^

For a coffee shop that originated from Bandung, this place still adapted the style and most important one is the taste of its coffee to come as close as possible like the original. Really like the vibes too but maybe for the outdoor area there's some cat litter that needs to be cleaned up!

Good coffee shop, not noisy, although there were lots of guests (everyone kept their tone down, hahaha). Good vibes also 👍 Very comfortable place, and it is good for having chit-chat or working/studying. Beverages were very good 👍 we tried kold brown (you can choose additional flavor, we chose vanilla, so 22 K + 4 K), sunset boulevard (34 K). The food were also good, we tried fried rice (49 K) and tahu lada garam (20 K) excl. tax. Good experience 👍

One of the coziest coffee place in Makassar! My best recomendation is kosangsu with pillow and butter rice with brisket! And the book! You should come to this place bcs.. coffee and book.. they have an amazing book to read!

Big, quiet coffee shop when we visited the place. Ordered matcha coffee latte (48 K) and rejuve (35 K) for dine-in, cold brew coffee (33 K) for takeaway (excl. taxes). Beverages were okay. The place was comfortable for you who like a quiet spot.

A nice café open until late. Food is good, and so are the prices. Not all menu items are available, though. Low tables are original, but personally I found their massive platforms uncomfortable, you've got little space for legs.

Varieties of foods and beverages is good but a bit pricey. I ordered Arma's coffee (coffee with aren sugar) but it tastes milk dominant (my opinion). I added expresso to complete my taste. Live music was great. Chicken satay (on fried rice) wasn't cooked very well. Overall, good. Thankyou Hikmah for being kind and friendly.

The drinks are delicious and they are open 24 hours. Maybe these opening hours make them a bit overwhelmed. Most of the places to eat are smoking areas, only a few are air-conditioned. Big mistake in my opinion in a city as hot as Makassar. Various board games and photobooths are available. One more thing, this cafe is a noisy type of cafe. It's full of music and there's always a performance. So not a place to work or relax.

They had a live music everyday, great service, avarage food and beverage. My nephew’s birthday held here and the prices was really worth it for small budget.

Came to Floom on sunday afternoon in Feb 2022 for a cake, coffee and chat. We thought a cafe will deff have cake or light bites in the money. We thought wrong. As many cafe in Makassar, they have either one, cake or coffee, not both. Not a problem though. We opted to order drinks instead. Iced cappucino, Ice Choco and what supposed to be an ultra refreshing: Limonada. All drinks are flat, regular and forgetable, nothing special. Limonada was a huge dissapoinment with bitter taste because i suspect that it was made with one day too old lime (see pic). In a city where lime is accesible and cheap, i do not understand why a 'cool' space like that allowed to serve an easy drink with that quality. It is borderline disrespecful to think your customer wont notice and to me, it shows lack of service & quality control. Servers gathered around the service area chatting with one another, you need to scream to get their attention. Floom collateral pics and video will lead you to expect a high quality products & service and that is not what you will get. At least for me. The space is good but lack of 'soul'. Perhaps hiring a good floor manager that can drive daily operation will tackle all problems. Overall, a lot of room for improvement.

Visited here +/- 2 months ago. The place was crowded, lots of people working here in our visit, sockets & Wi-Fi were available; but personally we did not find the place to be comfortable Tried their iced black tea (18 K) and kopi susu pache (27 K); tasted okay, not so good or bad.

Took the VIP room on the 2nd floor and it was quite and clean. Food was okay, I loved the calamari. But the most dissapointing part was one food was not as per picture in the menu. I was expecting various types of veggies when ordering the salmon cobb salad, but came up the veggie I got was only lettuce. One additional menu was nucifera fries also ordered but it took a long time for it to be served then we decided to take it away because we're done eating all of our orders. Then the staff said that they wrongly delivered our order to another table and they apologized at least.

Pastries tasted average, more delicious pastries can be found elsewhere in Makassar. The strawberry and chocolate croissant tasted like strawberry cough syrup. Nice pink decorations and likely popular with youths and new visitors.

We came here on a weekday, so it was quiet enough. Good atmosphere, service was okay although a little bit too slow. Menus were so-so, we ordered nasi iga penyet (85 K), morrocan mint (38 K), ice lemon tea (32 K) excl. tax. Overall, the tastes of the menu are under our expectations.

I came here few times but today I'm disappointed because I ordered chicken parmigiana which having pesto sauce (that's the reason I bought it) and it coming to me with only tomato without pesto. Then I asked the staff and he said they are run out of the pesto sauce, and just saying sorry for not telling me before after the food given to me, if I'm not asking then they will pretend like nothing happened and not explain before. The other thing is don't come here if you want the place that good for working, it's so noisy when I was there. Will think twice to comeback here again.

try their signature coffee, es kopi koja, esspreso with milk n palm sugar.. i order less sugar but for me it was too sweet. maybe bcause the ices cube not yet melted as well.. but i like the coffee taste. the use toraja coffee beans if im not mistaken. and i also try es kopi susu teori, which using caramel for sweet taste. but for me i prefer es kopi koja than kopisusu teori as well

Maybe (Just Maybe) the espresso isn’t for me and some of our friends who ordered latte. If they put certificate Barista from ABCD School, and made espresso like no balance at all, please consider again to drink at this place. However, maybe this place for coffee with milk drinkers, not for coffee lovers. Hope the owner (s) able to improve their coffee balance.

A modest warkop (coffee shop) in Bali Street that serves variant of coffee beans from South Sulawesi. They're freshly roasted as well. They serve variant of coffee drinks, manual brew, tea, taro, vanilla, and chocolate drinks. I love their Kahaya beans from Bulukumba, South Sulawesi. It is roasted light. I tried their iced coffee with V60 manual brew. Recommended coffee shop to explore the coffee beans from South Sulawesi 😊

A bit difficult to find because it tucked away on the corner of shops and warehouses. I love their rustic and rundown vibes. The coffee is surprisingly good. You could actually asked them to grind the coffee before you. It smells fantastic! Plus, they’ve got a portable mortal combat game console. I guess the 90s kids would love it ;)

One of the best cafes in Makassar in my opinion so far. The menu is delicious and the place is cozy. Prices are also not too expensive. Unfortunately when I arrived there was one group of guests who were very noisy and were placed in the middle of the restaurant, so it was very disturbing.
