Cafe

Bagel shop
Netherlands Bagels Cafe is a cozy spot in the Hague that offers specialty coffee from a renowned roaster in Rotterdam, making it perfect for catching up with friends or getting work done. They also serve filter coffee with free refills and have a welcoming policy for laptops. The cafe provides vegan-friendly options such as oat milk and freshly baked bagels.
Very good. Chewy soft dough (authentic New York style) so it's different than how bagels are often served in the Netherlands. Fresh ingredients, good coffee, nice staff and atmosphere!
Eva A — Google review
Spectacular, price quality amazing. The cafe is very cute and cozy, the service is fast and the staff is very sweet. They have many many options in their menu, and all of them are worth it. I had the New York bagel with and extra avocado and my friend had I think the club bagel, SPECTACULAR . The bagel itself is so soft and chewy and fresh, the filling was to the brim( I was fighting to hold it together but in the best way possible). Good drinks variety. I now know my new favourite bagel spot in town, better than other companies/ competition I have tried. The everything bagel( as someone who makes bagels myself ) the perfect soft and chewy I never wanted to stop eating it, I can even say it was sad when I was finished but just cause I wish it lasted longer :) Oh well I shall be back for more !
Mara — Google review
Best bagel shop in the Netherlands! I’m a native New Yorker and this brings me back to West Side life and eating fresh bagels all the time. Great food, amazing flat whites and super friendly service. Highly recommend a visit if you’re in The Hague. 🥯
Michael C — Google review
Very tasty! Thanks to QR codes, it was convenient and quick to order and pay. Pleasant waiters, you can feel a good attitude, which adds to the pleasant atmosphere. The food was prepared in a short time. And there are also delicious desserts!
Tetiana B — Google review
This place is a hidden gem. I've taken visiting friends and family here for a while now, and every time has been fab. The quality and flavour of the variety of bagels is wonderful and the owner makes them all from scratch. You can really tell she puts her heart and soul into the business, so it's great to support that. Service can be a little slow, but it's always worth it. I would definitely recommend.
A. B — Google review
A very nice place. TASTY bagels, even for those who do not like bagels. VERY friendly staff. Great location. It is so nice to seat there at the window with a bagel and a coffee and watch people passing by 🥰 A wonderful place 🥰
Irina I — Google review
Great bagels, super nice and chewy. We ordered and swapped half of the classic salmon cream cheese bagel which was SO good and we had the botega which is with beef bacon, scrambled egg and Gouda cheese, also very tasty. We tried an everything bagel as well as a plain one, both really nice. We preferred the bagels toasted, which comes with a small fee. The filter coffee was refilled, awesome! The lavender matcha was very nice and smooth. Nice staff and cute place in a nice part of the city. Recommend going here for some authentic bagels!

Known for its fast and flavorful offerings, this eatery specializes in traditional Lebanese dishes like Manaqish and Shawarma Cabbage, making it a go-to spot for those craving quick bites. Fantastic food, lovely drinks, really tight design (love that they sell merch!). Love the varied menu! Love the social engagement they do in Lebanon and the prices are fine for The Hague, could be worse. Really recommend!
Karl F — Google review
A Taste of Home in Rotterdam – Perfect Manouche & Beautiful Nostalgia! Visiting Baladi Manouche was an unforgettable experience that took me straight back to Lebanon! The taste of their manouche is absolutely authentic just like the ones I grew up eating in Beirut. The dough was perfectly baked, the za'atar was fragrant and flavorful, and every bite reminded me of home and specially to school days! What made the experience even more special was the nostalgic atmosphere. The graphics and decor transported me back to my childhood, especially seeing designs that reminded me of my old school in Beirut—one of the city's historic landmarks. It felt like a warm, comforting embrace from my past. The team was incredibly kind, welcoming, and gentle, making the visit even more enjoyable. Their hospitality truly reflects the spirit of Lebanese warmth. 🇱🇧 If you're craving real Lebanese manouche in Rotterdam, this is the place to be. Thank you, Baladi Manouche, for bringing a piece of Lebanon to the Netherlands. I’ll definitely be back! Highly recommended!😍 PS : BUY KAWARAM JAR !! 🤤
Oubay K — Google review
The manouche is just like back home, authentic, delicious and original! We ordered zaatar with veggies, cheese and lahm b’ajeen! The owner is a great host and amazing baker! I highly recommend it! Buy their mugs!

“We’ve visited this place many times, and as Lebanese, we highly recommend it—it truly represents authentic manouche, not an imitation! The pictures say it all!”

So glad I tried before the influencers find out about this amazing place! The food is of great quality and taste. These real ingredients fill you up and nurute more that you'd expect. This was my first time after passing by too many times. The servers were very understanding and accomodating to our curiousity. My meal was accompanied by one of their housemade drinks, definitely coming back again and trying more!

Great Lebanese food, beautiful interior showing the beauty and sadness of Lebanon. They have bar stools inside but I recommend sitting outside.

Delicious chocolate recipes and pastries, a hidden gem! Is been a long time since I haven’t seen a business so passionate about their products! Everything is made in house with the best quality ingredients and top notch attention to details! A must! 💎
Florentina B — Google review
A cozy vibe and the server Erina was super friendly! The white chocolate milk is to die for if you’re a fan of white chocolate. Their matcha is also high quality, although it couldve been a bit sweeter
Shin A — Google review
As a usual guest there I’m really pleased with hospitality and high quality coffee! The chocolates & pastries are high quality though and really really delicious! If you are around in passage and you need a cup of high quality coffee or some delicious deserts visit this shop and you will be happy!!😊
Kwstas K — Google review
Kostas truly made our day! Not only were the drinks delicious (a latte macchiato and a cappuccino, both just perfect), but his kindness, smile, and positive energy made the whole experience unforgettable. Considering it was only his second day at the store makes it even more impressive – he already makes customers feel so welcome and cared for. Warm vibes, delicious coffee – he definitely won us over! ☕💛
Mary T — Google review
I got a tasty cappuccino and some matcha drinks from here. It was a busy time, but Erina (the staff) gave us such great explanations that we could easily decide what to order. This cappuccino really made my husband’s day 😉 I’d love to come back and try different drinks and those amazing-looking desserts next time!

The coffee was good however the service wasn’t. There were 2 people on the shift (which in my opinion wasn’t enough). I waited 35 minutes for 2 coffees. While the guy working was running around and doing so much, the girl was simply existing and taking the takeaway orders. Truly an irritating experience
Elena R — Google review
Really nice spot! The coffee was great and the service was super friendly. Nikoleta took great care of us and she made the visit even better. Definitely coming back!

Bakery
Van Schaik Stroopwafels in Den Haag is a delightful traditional Dutch stroopwafel house that offers an indulgent experience for those with a sweet tooth. The irresistible combination of crispy waffle layers and gooey caramel inside captivates your taste buds, while the poffertjies are equally divine. The cozy ambiance adds to the charm, making it a must-visit spot for authentic Dutch treats.
Stroopwafels was fine there but the real star of the show are the Poffertjes, so insanely tasty and generously sprinkled with powdered sugar, the Price is very fair and the people working there were really nice and helpful. They spoke good English.

Discover the perfect spot for your stroop waffles cravings! Their warm waffles are served with your choice of toppings, ensuring you get exactly what you want. Whether you prefer traditional or something a bit more adventurous, they have got you covered. Don't miss out on this wonderful experience! And take some back home to your loved ones too!!
Varun V — Google review
The Stroopwafels and Dutch pancakes weren’t just delicious but amazingly priced - 2.50 euro for a fresh warm stroopwaffle in the middle of town is just in heard of! The staff were also lovely and friendly.
G A — Google review
Lovely shop right on Venestraat with a variety of stroopwafels, packed and ready for purchase or made to order for a treat on the spot. They also have Belgium sugar wafels to-go, but I highly recommend their warm ready-to-eat stroopwafels for a nice afternoon dessert. They have a variety of toppings, including melted dark chocolate, which I personally recommend.
Ursula O — Google review
Such a cute place to quickly satisfy a sweet tooth! We tried the Dutch pancakes and they were really good! The consistency was slightly chewy and they weren't that sweet, so they paired perfectly with the powdered sugar on top! The price of 4,50 € was also very acceptable, especially for such a good location. And we even got to watch them make the pancakes which was pretty fun as well!
PinnPapl — Google review
Great place to buy Stroopwafels. They also make them to order. They also have poffertjes. There is no place to sit, all is for take away only.

If you're on the lookout for an authentic taste of Mexico in The Hague, Frida Mexican Food is a must-visit. This vibrant eatery offers a delightful array of traditional dishes, with their tacos stealing the spotlight. Seafood lovers will particularly enjoy the pescado taco, featuring crispy fried kibbeling paired with fresh guacamole and a zesty salad. Had an amazing experience at this food stand ! The tacos were absolutely delicious, bursting with flavor, and made with fresh ingredients. The staff was super friendly and welcoming ! Highly recommend this spot if you're in The Hague and craving some authentic tacos.

The crunchy chicken tacos were bursting with incredible flavor, wholesome, cozy, yet light and wonderfully aromatic. Easily the best tacos I’ve had outside of Mexico so far, a delightful surprise in my day! The staff were equally impressive: a warm, welcoming family, with their son taking and serving orders, such a polite and well-mannered young man. I’ve already been back twice! Oh and the churros… absolutely to die for!
Georgia S — Google review
Very tasty, good quality meat. Mostly fresh ingredients except tortillas (served on the side). Very close to authentic street tacos. 4 did fill me up, they each had a lot of meat. Husband got burrito that was Very tasty and was a large serving. Yes, tacos are extremely pricey, but they're also similar price to other Mexican food in the Netherlands. Worth going back.
Jenifer — Google review
Delicious and authentic Mexican food, wonderful service, staff is extremely kind, plus they have great mexican music. If you want real Mexican food you have to check this place out!
Sybi — Google review
Absolutely disappointing, basically a scam. Ordered burrito pibil, almost no guacamole at all. Super dry meat and super dry burrito considering it had no guacamole unlike advertised. 14 euros for the privilege of this disappointing experience. Ate less than half of the thing, it was so bad.
M R — Google review
If you are in the area of The Hague central station or if you live in this city I'd highly recommend this Mexican food stand inside the Food Hall adjacent to the station. It's absolutely delicious!! The two ladies behind the counter/kitchen are so incredibly kind and charming. Can't wait to return to try other items on the menu

Haagsche Oliebollenbakkerij Jan Vermolen is a popular spot known for its delicious oliebollen, which are deep-fried balls of dough available in various coating options. Customers praise the freshness and taste of the buns and apple fritters, emphasizing that they are worth the price. The establishment is described as attractive, with quick service even during busy times.
The best oliebollen in NL! always fresh and delicious. Their oliebollen has lemon or some kind of citron after taste. Highly recommended!

I asked for putting more sugar because I really love eating sweet, I could pay extra. But the attitude of the staff is not acceptable and she even not put extra for me. Instead of being nice she act like she doesn’t me to eat Olieballen.

Today, I came with my daughter coz she went Nutella oliebollen, I was in the line, only one person in front of me but after the staff help her and the staff gone and I still waiting, another staff help another people and BOTH look at me but not asked me and nobody help me, she only ask another person more than 3 person behind me, woow very good service 👏🏻👏🏻 then I really upset with the staff and I said hey u… I standing in here n u saw me but not help me, I saw u help people behind me more than 3 person, my kid only want Nutella oliebollen, finally she help me WITHOUT say sorry and the funny things she asked me “can u pay with cash” even she saw my kid already with my card NEVER NEVER BACK AGAIN, pls take serious action with your staff, be nice to all customer not gone without say anything especially with kids, not all customer hv time to waiting!!

Fresher than fresh. Absolutely delicious. Just buy as many as you can eat. Especially the appelbeignets.
Josina H — Google review
(Translated by Google) The Hague oliebollen stall is highly recommended if you fancy a hearty, fresh oliebol. Although there is often a long line, the service is surprisingly fast. The staff remains friendly and efficient, so you never have the feeling that you are waiting unnecessarily. The quality of the oliebollen is excellent, nice and airy on the inside, with a crispy layer on the outside. It is also nice that they offer different variations, so you are not stuck with the standard oliebol and can try something new every now and then. The only disadvantage is the price, which is on the high side. You pay a little more for a single oliebol or a bag than you might expect. Still, I think it's worth it, because you really get something tasty in return.

Bakery
Brood Van Bro, located on Wagenstraat, has quickly become a favorite among locals. The bakery prides itself on using high-quality organic ingredients to create delicious handmade sourdough bread and pastries. Customers rave about the fluffy chocolate croissants filled generously with chocolate and the long-lasting freshness of the sourdough bread. Despite being slightly more expensive than average, patrons find that every cent is worth it for the exceptional quality.
The Orange Pistachio Carrot Cake is a masterpiece! The vibrant flavors of orange and pistachio beautifully complement the moist, spiced carrot base. Each bite is a perfect balance of sweetness and zest, with the crunch of pistachios adding a delightful texture. Truly one of the best desserts I’ve had in a while—elegant and unforgettable. It even topped my mom’s carrot cake ( don’t tell her ;) The Kimchi Goat Croissant is a bold and unique creation that blew me away. The buttery, flaky croissant is the perfect vessel for the tangy kick of kimchi and the creamy, slightly tangy goat cheese. It’s an innovative fusion that works so well, delivering layers of flavor in every bite. Absolutely a must-try for adventurous food lovers! My sincere compliments to the bakers ❤️👨🏼‍🍳
Kerstina G — Google review
This is the second week in a row that I've had breakfast at Bro, which pretty much shows how much I enjoy the place. My current favorite is definitely the gochujang tuna focaccia — it's truly amazing. The unexpected combination of flavors works perfectly together, making for a delicious, non-obvious sandwich, and the bread quality is top-notch. I also have to mention the pistachio carrot cake; it's one of the best carrot cakes I've ever had. The surprising blend of flavors comes together so well. Both times I've been there, there's not a moment without someone walking in to buy some delicious bread or to grab a bite to eat. That says a lot about how much people love this place. The location is great, with a cozy atmosphere right in a little square next to the canal. The staff is super friendly, and the price reflects the quality of what you’re eating. Most importantly, it's an unpretentious spot that surprises with its unique flavors. I'm excited to return and try whatever new creations they come up with

Best sourdough of my life (and I'm from Sourdough Mecca, aka San Francisco). Delightful people. Delightful cakes and croissant. Delightful Kim. Lovely coffee. My favorite bakery ever anywhere period. Whoever didn't give this place a 5.0 is a liar, propagandist, and son of a slipper face.

I was pleasantly surprised to find such a great bakery right after stepping out of the station. The coffee was excellent and the pastry – I had a cinnamon swirl – was absolutely delicious. The service was flawless. The girl behind the counter was super friendly and genuinely happy to see me. She even kindly showed me the way to the restroom when I asked. I also loved that they had some great books about bread and baking techniques – a really nice touch for bread lovers like me. Another small but lovely detail: they gave me a little piece of cake with my coffee, which made the whole experience even better. Definitely recommend!

We had such a lovely experience at this bakery! We were warmly welcomed and served by Kim, she was the sweetest! Incredibly kind and made us feel right at home. The croissants and cinnamon swirl were absolutely delicious – fresh, buttery, and just perfect. You can really taste the love in the baking. The atmosphere was cozy and inviting, and the whole place had such a great vibe. 🧡 My friend and I truly enjoyed our visit and would come back anytime. Highly recommend this spot if you're looking for great pastries and even better service! 🥐 Lots of Love from Germany 🫶🏻
Julie S — Google review
The croissant was €3.80 quite pricey, but I have to say, it was really delicious and high quality. That said, if the price were more reasonable, I think more people would be willing to try it, and it could help the business become more well known in the long run. Of course, they may be turning a profit with this model now, but from a business perspective, slightly lowering the price might attract more regular customers and boost their visibility over time.

(Translated by Google) Pastries are unsurpassedly delicious. We experience no longer being able to purchase orders but only collecting them as a loss. But the owner will want to work as efficiently as his former employer who closed all offices in the Netherlands because it had to be more efficient. Detracts from the brand experience. (Original) Gebak is onovertroffen lekker.

Bakkerij Hessing, located on Theresiastraat in The Hague, is a renowned bakery that has been serving freshly baked bread, pastries, and cakes for three generations. This establishment is celebrated for its specialty items such as the Haagsche Kakker, Ooievaartjes, Den Haagelslag, Chocolate Jantjes, the Haagsche Hopjes Cake, and an extensive variety of Sourdough bread.
Really neat history and story. Found this from a travel vlogger and learned of its uniqueness to the history of Den Haag

Theresiastraat location. I returned to buy some carrot cake after maybe 5 yearsago since the last time. I won't be going back in the future. Staff is noticeably unfriendly. Cake is dry yet not even fully baked. Doesn't taste like carrot cake at all. Most interesting point to share was that when I got home to open the box that the cake was in, there was some dried up chocolate/hazelnut (maybe??) frosting on the inside top cover and sides...but there's no chocolate in carrot cake! They reused this box from who knows when. Not very hygienic. Also, if I had food allergies, this could potentially be a serious health issue due to cross-contamination.

Best spot in Bezuidenhout for an early morning breakfast, Italian style. The whole wheat croissant is my favorite. They also have a large selection of bread and the famous "Haagsch Kakker" cake. Recommended!
Valeria T — Google review
Quality of products has gone down a lot over the years. The eierkoek I recently bought there had the taste and texture of one that was days old, it was hard and dry. Nothing there tastes nice, do yourself a favor and go to Klink or Boheemen in the neighborhood for delicious, freshly baked goods.
Stephanie T — Google review
Very friendly staff, communicating in English. The shop is nice and cosy, wide selection, and the Kakker is delicious.
Barbara F — Google review
Not what it used to be. The cakes used to be good and great for birthdays. They would even customize the cake with any picture you provide. This recently change and the cakes are either hard or soggy. Everything else is fine, specially the cupcakes.

After indulging in a delightful meal at one of the many restaurants in Scheveningen, there's always room for dessert, and what better way to satisfy your sweet tooth than with a visit to IJssalon Capriccio? Renowned as one of the finest ice cream parlors along the boulevard, this charming spot offers an array of authentic Italian gelato that is simply irresistible. The chocolate gelato here has been hailed as some of the best you'll ever taste!
This is by far the best chocolate gelato I have tried in my life, authentic Italian gelato. The place is really nice and the prices are great. The hospitality is a bit rustic but after all, it is Italian and you can’t expect a warm greeting!

Only had coffee and sat inside on a quiet Monday morning. Nice coffee but not the cheapest. Older woman not the most friendly as others have said. Was allowed to use the toilet without charge as a customer.
Ian H — Google review
Perfetto ice cream, with great Italian coffee and nice people while watching the Ocean and De Pier. Also you can find After Eight ice cream! It's perfectly clean every time that I come, I saw it.
Zeynep S — Google review
Ice cream is excellent! The price is a bit expensive but it's worth it!
Absaloon — Google review
This place had good ice cream and crepes (great presentation of food) but I feel like it was extremely overpriced. We were still hungry afterwards and had to settle for KFC around the corner.
Adrian W — Google review
We went there today. They have catalog with pictures of ice creams without explanation of the flavours. You have to imagine what this glass of ice cream has inside. We asked the waiter and he answered that they have whipped cream and ice cream. Yes of course they have but what flavour. Very unprofessional catalogue. The waiters don’t know what they sell and If someone has allergies will be dangerous.
Ioanna K — Google review
My interaction was with the owner, elder lady, very impolite she should not be at this post. Ice cream is ok, I used to go there, a guy was serving me, but after this accident never again because of owner’s rudeness. These people open up only for a few summer months, make tons of income, and they go back to Italy…their attitude is: we do not need you…we do not care if you come back.
Max B — Google review
I respect all elderly however this old couple-owner must go back to school to learn basic etiquette and manners. Worst coffee and sad owners ; feel sorry for their customers. On a positive note, their staff are good.

IJssalon Palazzo is a delightful ice cream café that offers an impressive variety of treats, including authentic Italian ice cream, soft serve, and indulgent milkshakes. You can also savor delicious sandwiches for lunch or enjoy their mouthwatering crepes and waffles topped with whipped cream. The ambiance is inviting, featuring comfortable seating both indoors and outdoors—perfect for relaxing while people-watching in a central location. Visitors rave about the cleanliness of the space and the friendly service they receive.
Great tasting ice cream. Also the cappuccino is rather exquisite. The foam on the cappuccino is extra thick, just the way I like it. Hence the 'spoon' test to check the froth thickness. It passed witch flying colours. The ice cream itself was what I call 'authentic'. The service is good. Would recommend this place and visit again in the future. Visited with my son, he ordered the 'spaghetti ice cream'.

The better place to enjoy a refreshing delight. The ice cream was very tasty and it was cheaper than other places at the promenade. Nice selection of tasty varieties.

We ordered a hazelnut milkshake and an iced Cappuccino. This was the best iced coffee I ever had. The toilet was clean. And the ambience was excellent.

Great spot. Really good cappuccino. Awesome ice cream with tons of flavors for a great selection. Great service. The place is really clean and open with comfortable seating both indoors and outside. The cafe is centrally located and is a great spot for people watching.

What are the opening hours? Their website and Google say Monday till Friday till 22:00 but at 1945 it's completely dark at a Wednesday and on Monday there wasn't even someone during the day. Very confusing.

Very bad service, spoils all the mood from the icecream treat for my son. I asked for a glass of tap water, that should be available in any place in NL, the owner rudely refuses and I had to buy a small water for 2.65 euro when the owner said it was 1.65 (found out later when going through my statement) Just walk a bit further to the street or to the beach where you can find a similar place.
