Western restaurant
Nestled in the heart of Shanghai, M on the Bund has established itself as a beloved culinary landmark over its nearly two-decade history. This stylish venue is perfect for impressing friends or even catching a glimpse of celebrities who have graced its tables, including members of royalty and Hollywood stars. The restaurant's menu features an array of global flavors, with highlights like the crispy suckling pig paired with poached apples that keeps diners coming back for more.
Best view on their balcony and I love the throw back in era decoration. All our food was excellent and especially our desserts. The afternoon tea set looks divine. Will always come back when I’m in Shanghai!!!

A very nice location to start your evening. The outdoor seating is well appointed. The service was excellent and the food well proportioned and very tasty. The style is Western with Asian influences. The wines were reasonably priced. Like a lot of places you have to look at the buildings list of tenants to see this is on the 5th Floor.
Carl R — Google review
A great location to see the Bund, with an unbeatable view of the Bund and the tall buildings in Pudong. The view from the outdoor patio is direct and from the insider you can peek at the view through the windows. The food compares to the most expensive restaurants in the US. The food quality is not great as compared to this that charge those prices in the US. You are paying for the view and the atmosphere here but it may well be worth it.
Henry S — Google review
M on the Bund’s still going strong on its 20th anniversary and I wholeheartedly recommend loosening the purse strings for the excellent food and view of the Huangpu River and Pudong skyline. Would be a solid 5 stars had the service been up to scratch.
Chyan P — Google review
Came here for high tea. Outside seating available. They do have really nice view; however, the decor and overall experience are fine. Most sandwiches and desserts are appetizing, but cappuccino is poor. ¥150 up per person.
Shihho Y — Google review
If you're here for the food, it's ok, but not fantastic. Everything tasting fine but it wasn't the meal you'd expect for a £200 British pounds meal for a 3 course for two with a bottle of wine. But what made this experience worth while and why I wasn't fussed to pay that price was for the view. I came here on my first evening in Shanghai and my first experience of the Shanghai skyline - and it's something that genuinely blew my socks off. The view you get is exceptional from their terrace area, which we always snuck out to in-between our courses and to enjoy finishing off our bottle of wine before our dessert came out. You're about 5 stories up from what I remember and can see all sides of the Huangpu river. The staff were also very friendly and some were English speaking which helped. If this is your first time in Shanghai, I'd recommend booking a table here just for the view.
Ronesh A — Google review
I was here the first year they opened in Shanghai 20 years ago. Way back there were few competitors. Bravo that she is still in the same location for 20 years. The Bund had become more beautiful. The balcony is still one of the most photogenic. Food menu has evolved. Though I have eaten some very creative menu elsewhere. I would say it still retain a four stars.
Felip W — Google review
Great experience. Best view of the Bund. Food was all about great combination. Seafood pasta appetizer, was ok. Roasted cauliflower, great combination of cauliflower, nuts, pomogranate, olive oil. Wasn't expecting much but WOW was it good. Palova (which they r famous for), combination of softness and crunchiness. Sweet and sour. HUGE portion but I still finish it.

Restaurant
Lost Heaven is a charming restaurant located in the former French Concession of Shanghai, offering an authentic dining experience with Yunnan cuisine. The colonial-style building adds to its sophisticated ambiance.
Went with my vegetarian friend on a casual dinner. For a Michelin star restaurant we got a table by just walking in. The staff was helpful despite not being comfortable speaking English. The atmosphere is great. My vegetarian friend found plenty of options and i was happy with non-veg options. The Mapu Tofu and lamb samosas are a must to try. Highly recommended.
Girish N — Google review
We walked 30 mins to try this place and it turned out to be one of the best places we ate at in Shanghai. Beautiful decor, great atmosphere, and delicious food. The restaurant was busy but we got a seat straight away and the staff were great. Like typical Brits, we got the sweat and sour chicken style dish, and it was amazing - spicy, sweet, crispy, juicy. Highly recommend you try this place.

Walked in with no booking on 2 different occasions. Great vegan options and staff are knowledgeable on ingredients. Delicious cocktails. I recommend the spring rolls, papaya salad, friend rice (vegan on request) and mapo tofu.
Jessica T — Google review
We had lunch here to celebrate the end of our business trip. The place was big with a lot of tables. There were a lot of people eating but only about half was occupied. It was also a bit dark for me...the color of the furniture as well as the lighting inside the restaurant. The food was very good and different from the usual ones we see in most Chinese restaurants. The prices were a bit on the high side but still reasonable. Service was OK. Overall, a very good dining experience.
Noel G — Google review
A truly extraordinary restaurant. The interior is wonderful and successfully accompanies the foods Southwestern Asian origins. It is rather on the expensive side, and the waiters overcharged us for water, keep an eye out for the prices of drinks… Apart from that it is a must visit when in Shanghai, arriving around 2pm without a booking on a weekday, there were plenty of tables empty. There were some private dining rooms available, with spinning tabletops and exclusive decor. It is accompanied by a coffee shop on the floor below, which dies NOT carry the same atmosphere.

Such a beautiful Yunan restaurant, this is my first time having authentic Yunan food. Is just absolutely delicious, highly recommend to come and go for a walk at The Bund after which is just around the corner. Definitely a must go when you are in Shanghai.

this is an amazing restaurant! nice to see a different type of chinese food. amazing location right off the bund and beautiful decor. feels very high end but the prices are more than affordable. i had chicken satay and broccoli, they were both beautiful. would return!
Rachel C — Google review
Restaurant serving particular SW Chinese cuisine. In Shanghai they have 3 branches. Going there is never disappointing as the food is really delicious and they present it in a very nice way. Not too spicy. Do make a reservation when going with a group, just one or two persons can easily find a table without.

Western restaurant
Mr&Mrs Bund is a top-rated restaurant known for its inventive French menu, making it one of the best dining spots in Asia. The restaurant offers a variety of memorable dishes such as Foie Gras Crumble, Steamed Prawns in a Mason jar, Meuniere Bread and Black Cod in a Bag. It's an ideal place for group or family outings with its serve-yourself wine dispenser and late-night menu.
Located on the sixth floor of a building near the Bund. The entrance of the restaurant is instagramable and you are welcomed by staff before you can even ring the door. The food and the service were great! Staff can also speak English very well. During your meal, you may go out to their balcony and take great pictures of the Perl Tower and the Bund. Lovely experience in Shanghai especially during evening time!

Very nice french themed restaurant at the Bund! Excellent views from the restaurant, good vibes - perhaps the music is a tad high - and a vast menu with lots to choose from! Oysters, caviar, beef tartar, fish and steak - we liked it all very much, but could be even better! We wanted a bit more seasoning in general to make it perfect, but still very nice and highly recommended to visit!
T T — Google review
The meat was absolutely amazing—grilled to perfection and beautifully paired with their specialty sauces. Every bite was flavorful and cooked exactly right. On top of that, the view is one of the best you can get of the Bund, making the entire dining experience unforgettable. A perfect mix of great food, ambiance, and skyline views.
Alex G — Google review
Shanghai notable resturant that worth the trip. An excellent place to dine, host and celebrate. Their cassar salad was extraordinary, the balance of flavour even it is a simple starter. Oyster with caviar is a must, bite size that fills with flavour, especially the sauce Their own made tuna mouse that comes with the bread really the best I ever had. Beef was good but do choose the USA cuts. Dessert souffle is really good, the texture and sweetness just good to end the meal with memories, so it is a must to order Service was excellent and the view on their balcony is stunning. Highly recommended
Joe F — Google review
Amazing restaurant. Since the beggining they offer an excellent dinning experience. The menu is very complete. Everything had an amazing taste. The view is espectacular, Shanghai's lights can be seen perfectly fine frim here without too much people. Just as an additional recomendation: do a bookimg and leave in advance. That part of the city always has traffic jam at night due to the lights so plan ahead.
Maryejli M — Google review
One of the best steak restaurants in Shanghai. And the view of The Bund is sensational! After enjoying your fine steak, be sure to step out to the alfresco area to take some amazing night photos.
Will G — Google review
A Classic in Shanghai! A little bit tired after many years in business but a must to have a good dinner and view in this vibrant city. We enjoyed all our dishes but mainly the Foi and Escargots. Service was amazing!
Alejandro G — Google review
Dining at Mr & Mrs Bund was an unforgettable experience from start to finish. The service was truly excellent — attentive, professional, and warm without ever feeling intrusive. Every member of the staff made us feel welcome and went above and beyond to ensure a perfect evening. The food was outstanding, beautifully presented, and full of flavor. Each dish reflected creativity and precision — a perfect blend of French elegance and Shanghai flair. The wine pairing recommendations were spot on and elevated the entire meal. And of course, the view was absolutely breathtaking. Overlooking the glittering Pudong skyline, the atmosphere was both romantic and vibrant — ideal for a special night out or simply to enjoy Shanghai at its best. If you’re visiting the city, Mr & Mrs Bund is a must-try. It’s not just a meal, it’s an experience that captures the heart of modern Shanghai — luxury, taste, and style all in one place. Make reservations if going after 7 pm

Spanish restaurant
Nestled in the heart of Shanghai, The Commune Social is a delightful modern tapas restaurant crafted by the talented chef Jason Atherton. This eatery redefines fine dining by making it both accessible and enjoyable, all while maintaining an inviting atmosphere. With its charming open-air patio that offers just the right amount of shade from surrounding buildings, guests can easily lose track of time as they savor their meals.
I’ve eating a few times in this amazing Spanish style restaurant. I’ve tried both brunch. And dinner. The brunch is best when the patio is open and you can eat outdoor. The patio decorations are amazing and the greens make it more enjoyable. The indoor is darker and perfect setting for dinner with friends or date night. Food is great. Prices are a bit higher but worth every penny. Staffs are very friendly and polite. Overall, it’s an amazing place to eat.
Armita Z — Google review
This restaurant gives a very trendy, relaxed upscale vibe. It has simple but nice set up. I went in the evening before it closed, so it wasn’t as crowded. The staff was friendly and spoke both English and Chinese. They recommended some dishes. The food was tasty and they had a different array of foods and mixes of things. The portion size isn’t too big, so if you are hungry and a eater prepare to order multiple platters. The price was alittle more expensive compared to other places. Was it worth it? I believe so if you want to try different more exquisite type of Spanish themed dishes. They had light music playing in background but wasn’t overbearing. Overall I give this place a 4/4.5 but it was a good time.
Mike M — Google review
This restaurant is just way too cool, amazing vibes. Food are just insanely great, went with my new friends in Shanghai with not much expectations. However when the food was serve I was so intrigued with it, every single dish looks like a piece of art and taste insanely yummy. Desserts are the best, very impressed. Both chefs used to work in Gordon Ramsay restaurant and dessert chef used to work in Savoy Hotel too. Make sure you visit this place when you are in Shanghai.
Vivian T — Google review
This is one of my favorite western food restaurants in Shanghai. The concept is small plates/tapas style with some of the mains are bigger portions. Pricing is a bit on the high side given the portion size but this is consistent with most tapas places are My rating is based on the following: Food: 5 stars Atmosphere: 4.5 stars Service: 4 stars Value: 4 stars All the food I was good with some dishes exceptional. Suckling pig is probably my favorite protein. What I look for is crispy skin and juicy, tender meat. The suckling pig here hits those criteria. The apple sauce was also a nice touch giving the dish a hint of sweetness. The other dish that I found exceptional was the beet salad. The dish was plated beautifully and the flavors were also on point. The sweetness of the beets was paired nicely with the umami flavor and richness of the cheese. The brunch here is also very good. Menu items are similar to dinner but served as a set lunch. If you haven’t been here it is well worth a visit.
Vincent Q — Google review
I went to this restaurant cause I was craving for Spanish dishes, I have been a lot of times in Spain so I know how it should be. Unfortunately I did not find anything I wanted on the menu, no tapas, no tacos, no Spanish ham, nothing to remind me Spain.. I just had..... Burger, mini burger, and my wife lambs chops.... After this I just went to Taco Bell's cause I was still hungry. Sorry to review like that but please, if you call yourself Spanish restaurant, make real food from Spain, it was good, in starter we took Spanish breakfast and that was great, but I was expecting more local Spanish dishes.

When you find yourself in Shanghai, a city that beautifully blends the old with the new, make sure to carve out some time for a culinary adventure at Jia Jia Tang Bao. This beloved eatery is renowned for its xiao long bao, or soup dumplings—delightful little parcels filled with savory pork and broth that are simply irresistible. Originating from a street vendor in the late 19th century, these dumplings have become an iconic dish of Shanghainese cuisine.
An absolute must try when you come to Shanghai! Loved their juicy xialongbao and delicious crab noodles. Very easy to order via Alipay (contactless system). Beware that queues can get very long but it is so worth it!
Anonymous — Google review
Jia Jia Tang Bao is another highly recommended spot especially popular among Thai tourists. It’s often listed as a “must-try,” so I went in with pretty high expectations. Unfortunately, it didn’t quite live up to the hype. The food was okay not bad by any means but very average overall. The long queue made me expect something truly special, but what I got was just... fine. If there’s no line, it might be worth a quick visit. But if you're facing a long wait, I’d say it’s not really worth the time. There are plenty of other dumpling places in Shanghai that are just as good or better without the crowd.
Nathanon S — Google review
Jia Jia Tang Bao (佳家汤包) is a famed xiao long bao 小龍包restaurant in Shanghai that started as a mom-and-pop shop in 1986. Today, they have nearly a dozen locations in Shanghai. The tourist location is on Huanghe Road, and the busiest. I recommend going to their Liyuan Road store for the same quality made-to-order xiao long bao. They do excellent pork soup dumplings, as well as ones with crab and crab roe.
Doug H — Google review
Came here after hearing that is a must try! Was a short wait as the turn over is pretty quick. We also ordered some other sides such as scallion oil noodle, vegetable and pork cutlet. Honestly you can skip these. Had two flavours, the original meat and the pure crab meat, tbh these are pretty good! The vinegar help cuts through the taste if it gets too overwhelming. The soup inside is good!
Jeremy T — Google review
The food here is incredible! The crab noodles are absolutely to die for. The dumplings are also delicious, and the complimentary soup was wonderfully comforting. Just a heads-up—you’ll need to scan and pay at the table. Also, none of the staff speak English, so be sure to use translation tools—WeChat for ordering and Google Translate when speaking with the staff.
Patty — Google review
Go to breakfast/lunch place. Amazing noodles and xiao long baos. It is quite busy there so prepare to wait in a small queue. They have great deals with the app Dianping, but you do require a chinese phone number for it. If you have one make sure to install it.
Anthony D — Google review
This place has ok dim sums, but nothing super delicious or outstanding. We tried few types of pork ones, also pork + crab and pork + shrimp. I was choosing this place by photos, but quite few of food photos here are actually coming from another place few houses away. So this guys don’t have many food options apart from dim sums. To know what to expect better check menu pictures not food pictures here.
Valeriya S — Google review
Honest Feedback, The crab row noodles were acceptable. However, the xiao long bao fell below average; the skin was tough, and the flavor didn't justify the price. Despite the positive review, I find it overrated. 08 September 2025

Vegetarian restaurant
Fu He Hui is a renowned vegetarian fine-dining restaurant located in Shanghai, known for its Michelin-starred status and inclusion in Asia's 50 Best Restaurants list. The restaurant offers a Zen environment with rustic decor and a selection of vegetarian set menus featuring an array of innovative dishes. Owned by Fang Yuan and Chef-restaurateur Tony Lu, Fu He Hui showcases China's diverse vegetables and fungi, some of which are rare and exotic.
Honouring ingredients and honouring culture: two tall tasks most restaurants strive for and has Fu He Hui done this beautifully. It's hard to find a plant-forward fine dining menu that doesn't have one, if not, many dishes that feature truffle. It's a lazy, boring way to drive up the price of your menu while adding flavour. Fu He Hui brings out the dynamism and delicacy of vegetables. The standouts for me were the wax gourd, the wild mushroom, and the goji berry (shaoxing wine). The wax gourd has a gentle flavour and is so intricately assembled. The wild mushroom was the highlight for me. Normally, I hate mushrooms; I have tried it many times over the years, but the texture combined with the earthy flavour have always made me gag. I ate the entire portion here and then my partner's. It was cooked so well, the fig smoke infused into the flavour and the pistachio crumble completed its transformation to decadence. The goji berry was wild. I was skeptical of shaoxing wine being in a dessert, but the kick and sourness from it made this such a refreshing dessert. This on top of the fact that they were showcasing Chinese ingredients and cooking techniques. I'm so so impressed with this place. There are also tea pairings; I'm always a fan of places that don't rely on alcohol and usually prefer non-alcoholic pairings. They're much more difficult to execute well, in my opinion. The tea pairings complemented the food very well. Service is also wonderful. Can't say enough about this place, can't wait to come back and see what else they come up with.
Fred L — Google review
The restaurant was named world top 15 for its super service and well designed menu. We had 11 dishes plus 2 chef’s specials. The service personnel placed each dish and explained how it was made. We were treated like royals because there were so many waiters serving us! The tea pairing was super especially for tea lovers, tea and food was well complementary to each other. It was pricey but worth it for a special occasion and experience.

I’m an elderly man who has spent a lifetime indulging in life’s pleasures. Even when I travel abroad from Korea, I make a point to visit Michelin-starred restaurants. I came to this one on the recommendation of a close female friend. The lunch and dinner menus seem to be similar and appear to change with the seasons. While Korea also uses some Chinese characters, the pronunciations are quite different from those in China. So I couldn’t understand many of the regional names mentioned in the ingredients. Still, the staff gave excellent explanations about the fascinating ingredients used. The staff spoke good English and seemed to have a solid understanding of the menu. Throughout the meal, I was so intrigued by the experience that I took notes and studied the dishes as if I were in a class. The food tasted great, but what stood out the most was the beautiful color coordination among the ingredients.

福和慧 Fu He Hui 🌿✨ A high-end vegetarian restaurant in Shanghai that celebrates the original taste of vegetables rather than serving mock-meat dishes. The cuisine follows the 4 seasons, with a tasting menu that changes accordingly. The restaurant occupies a 3-storey independent villa on Yuyuan Road. The 1st floor features an open tea room & art exhibition space, while the 2nd & 3rd floors serve as the main dining area with private rooms & a tranquil hall. Only tasting menus with tea pairings are offered — no wine or liquor. Each course is beautifully paced & explained by the attentive staff, with tableware changed for every dish. A delightful detail : the menu is printed on seed-embedded paper — guests are invited to take it home, plant it & watch new life grow 🌱✨

Elegant, poetic, and pretty innovative vegetarian dishes with interesting flavours. The memorables were the daikon course which demonstrated the superb knife skill of the chef, the pine fungus soup, the bamboo shoot rice and the last eight treasure dessert. Not forgetting the mapo tofu from their hidden menu. The tea pairing mostly complemented the meal quite well. Service was cordial. Ambience was minimalist cosy.

Top 50 Asia restaurant! 2 Michelin stars! Amazing experience and highly recommend. Food was delightful with unmatched creativity. Staff were extremely friendly and knowledgeable. 11 course set vegetarian menu was the right amount of food.
Jerry R — Google review
We arrived on a Saturday evening to this michelin starred vegetarian restaurant. The three of us were seated in a private room decorated in muted earth tones and absolutely silent. We had an english speaking server and his assistant and received lots of attention. We all had a 12 course tasting menu. Each dish was beautifully presented often with the ingredients cleverly disguised. The kudzu root had crunchy toasted quinoa and crushed peanuts. The green rattan pepper sauce was somewhat hot. The wax gourd with bamboo shoots had subtle flavors and was cleverly executed. The fruit pepper had a sweet sour cranberry sauce with sweet corn inside. The bamboo shoot was fragrant with strong herbal flavors in the broth. The lotus root had an exterior of crunchy bamboo shoot chips and a lotus potato interior. The shanghaiese dumplings were flavorful. The goji berry was gelatin and sorbet with a strong ginger flavor, a good palate cleanser. Beverage service is limited, no cocktails. The tea is ceremoniously brewed at the table and kept heated. The dishes appeared promptly in order but it was a long evening and a lot of food. The meal was memorable though a times a bit bland. Come for the experience.

I was searching in the Michelin Guide for vegetarian restaurants in Shanghai and this one star location caught my eye. I went there spontaneously to have dinner and luckily they had a table available for me. I have to say that I really liked the professional service and the design and atmosphere of the three-story restaurant. I ordered their set menu with the appropriate tea accompaniment. I also ordered an additional dumpling dish as I was still hungry after the main course. I found the presentation of the dishes very appealing. And the serving of the teas in different ways also stuck in my memory. Only here and there I personally would have liked a little more flavor or spices, but I don't want to complain because overall I was very satisfied after my visit! I would return!

Everything about this place was cool. Everyone knows mi hijo loves a creative cocktail, so when he ordered something with the word "squid" in it, I wasn't surprised. When his drink arrived, though, my boy's eyes lit up with fireworks! Out came this glass with squid tentacles filled with green liquid. Mmmm, mi hijo said, and when he gave me a sip, I agreed! The drink had a little too m,uch sugar in it, so mi hijo started to act up. He through a min-tantrum when I didn't let him take that glass home with us.And he paid a little price when we got home without that glass in hand!

When visiting Shanghai, make sure to indulge in the unique flavors of Traditional Shanghai Cuisine. This cuisine is a blend of influences from Jiangsu and Zhejiang cuisines, resulting in delicate flavors, lightness, and an umami taste. Thanks to its location, the city offers access to freshwater fish and seafood which are prominent ingredients in dishes like xiaolongbao, hairy crab, and Shanghai-style noodles.

Mercato is a vibrant Italian restaurant located on the sixth floor of Three on the Bund in Shanghai. The restaurant, led by celebrity chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten, offers a simple yet perfectly executed menu featuring wood-fired pizzas, flavorful pasta dishes, and delectable desserts like lemon mascarpone layer cake with basil gelato. With its farm chic decor and stunning views of the Bund and Huangpu River, Mercato provides an elegant dining experience.
The restaurant is cosy and we were in the private room which has an awesome view of the bund which is a bonus. Food mostly tastes good and my fave has to be the pork chop and the toast with strawberry and cheese which were really good. Tiramisu was a lil disappointing as it wasn't creamy enough for me but the icecream/sorbet made up for it.

Mercato has truly become our favorite spot on The Bund. Every time we come, the food is delicious and thoughtfully prepared. The atmosphere is lively yet relaxed, making it a place where you can unwind and enjoy the company of friends or share a more intimate evening. Then there’s the view, which alone makes the visit worthwhile. Shanghai’s skyline stretches out before you, and no matter how many times we’ve seen it, the view takes our breath away every time. Mercato by Jean-Georges has the perfect mix of great food, a fun chill vibe, and an incredible view. It’s the kind of place that makes any night out feel special.

Located atop The Shanghai EDITION, ROOF offers an exclusive and stunning view of Shanghai. The rooftop bar features a beautiful ivy-covered trellis and comfortable loungers where guests can enjoy classic and innovative drinks prepared by expert mixologists. Meanwhile, The Fellas Terrace, formerly known as Shen, is an Italian restaurant and rooftop bar with a wraparound terrace providing magical riverside views of Shanghai.
We have spent so many wonderful evenings and unforgettable nights here – full of beautiful moments and cherished memories. Whether you come for a romantic evening for two, gather with friends, or host a business dinner, The Fellas is simply the perfect place. It feels like a return to a time when life and good company were truly celebrated. The cocktails are outstanding. Order a Moscow Mule, and you’ll enjoy the best one you have ever had. Prefer a glass of red wine? It will pair perfectly with your meal. And if you’re just thirsty for something refreshing, the beer selection won’t disappoint. Every wish is anticipated, and every guest is treated like royalty. The cuisine is a celebration of classic Italian flavors: from delicious antipasti to fresh pasta, pizza, and seafood dishes, all prepared perfectly. It’s the ideal food to share with friends and to create memories over a long, joyful evening. I would also like to sincerely thank all the staff members once again for welcoming us so warmly over the years. Being a guest here has been a privilege and a true pleasure. We can’t wait to return – The Fellas will always hold a special place in our hearts.

I had so many amazing, memorable meals in Shanghai, every single one picked by my sister, who lives there and clearly knows where to eat. Then I took the reins for one night and, naturally, managed to find the tourist trap. I wanted that classic Shanghai skyline dinner, you know, the postcard view with the Oriental Pearl Tower glowing in the background. So I booked Fellas, thinking even if the food wasn’t amazing, at least the view and vibes would deliver. The moment I told my sister, she sighed and said, “Jie jie, that place is for foreigners the food’s probably not good!” And….she was right. When we arrived, our waitress was a foreigner and 90% of the guests were, too. After almost a week of eating like locals (and not seeing another non-Asian diner anywhere), it felt like we’d crossed back into touristland. The food? Totally meh ..edible but forgettable. The service? Fine. The view? Gorgeous, as promised. So go in knowing what you’re signing up for: this isn’t where locals eat; it’s where visitors go for that skyline Instagram moment. One thing I learned: the best meals I had all week weren’t on Google or found online easily, they were only on Dianping, the local app. So if you’re hunting for true Shanghai flavor, that’s where you’ll find it. Fellas is just fine for the view but not for the food

My wife and I had plans to eat at Flair during our Last night in Shanghai. I had a friend recommend The Fellas and rather than going back to Flair, we decided to try a place we have never been before. We walked in early afternoon before they opened. The manager was able to make us a reservation for 6:30pm that evening. When we arrived we had very nice rooftop seats ready for us with an amazing view. Food was phenomenal and the atmosphere was very fun to be around. The service was great and we were able to see the city lights turn on at 7:00pm. I usually do not write reviews, but just landed back in the states and wanted to make sure I shared the great experience I had here. Thanks guys!

The Fellas Terrace is one of those places that instantly wins you over with its setting. Perched above the Bund, it offers a stunning outdoor terrace with panoramic views of Shanghai’s skyline, easily one of the best spots in the city to enjoy a drink under the open sky. The ambience is effortlessly chic, lively yet relaxed, and perfect for both a date night or a casual evening with friends. The cocktails are spot on, creative, well balanced, and served with flair. Their pizzas are also a pleasant surprise: thin, flavorful, and perfectly baked. The pastas, on the other hand, fall short of expectations and could use a bit more authenticity and depth in flavor. Still, the overall experience more than makes up for it. The service is warm and attentive without being intrusive, and the staff know how to make guests feel welcome. All in all, The Fellas Terrace is a must-visit in Shanghai. Come for the views and atmosphere, stay for the cocktails and good vibes. Highly recommended.

The atmosphere is cool and stylish, making it the perfect spot for a relaxed yet elevated night out. Add to that the perfect rooftop view of the Bund, and you have one of the best night experiences in the city. Whether you're with friends or on a date, The Fellas offers everything for a great night to enjoy—incredible food, great service, and an unforgettable skyline.

Food is OK. Don't expect too much. The steak we ordered arrived kinda cold. Yes, although the restaurant was kind enough to bring a hot stone for us to cook it on (we wanted it more medium, arrived kinda M Rare). Also ordered pasta & pizza. Environment is good, near the bund with a view. Service wise - not too sure, maybe they thought we (asian and with a small kid) can't pay for the bill initially? Wasn't too friendly, till we started ordering and paying.. left right after we ate.

Haute French restaurant
Bistro 321 VILLA LE BEC is a renowned restaurant in Shanghai, located in a century-old villa on Xinhua Road. It's part of a multi-concept establishment by French celebrity chef Nicolas le Bec. The bistro offers rustic French cuisine and an unbeatable historic villa ambience, making it one of the top dining destinations in the city.
Villa LeBec is undoubtedly Shanghai’s best French restaurant for the cuisine, encyclopedic wine list and rear garden, which is the best restaurant garden of many capital cities (and M. LeBec knows all this). Nevertheless most of his Chinese staff are pleased to serve you and do so well. The menu has old favorites, but is changed every season so it is well to try the seasonal offerings. I chose the baked foie gras to start (with a glass of Sauternes of course - and they serve d’Yquem by the glass from a jeroboam if you can believe it). It was perfectly cooked, but served with an intense raspberry sauce and fresh raspberries so it was a little too sweet for me. My dining partner had the white asparagus which was perfect. My lamb rack was medium rare and beautifully tender. It was delicious. Unfortunately, each piece was cut off the rack and served on a bed of vegetables. I should have thought to ask them not to do this, which is now common in Western restaurants in Shanghai assuming their clientele will share their meals as if it were Chinese food. Again the sauce with the lamb was too sweet for me. The lobster, an old favorite, was delicious I am told, but was missing one claw. The bill, with unremarkable dessert, a half bottle of champagne and a good bottle of Nuits St George was RMB4,572. Would I prefer to spend €600 on a good meal for two in France? Yes of course, but when you are here and looking for a place to spoil yourself for a special occasion, I hope you will not be disappointed. It certainly deserves more than Google 4stars so I am giving it 5/5 despite the imperfections.

Shanghai has apparent locations that remind us of Paris, much as many other places in the world. Few stores, meanwhile, are able to convey the spirit and taste of Paris as well as Épicerie & Caviste 62 Le Bec on Xinhua Road. Here could be a bakery, a bistro, restaurant, or a sophisticated grocery. In addition to selling wine by the glass, this store features over 500 different types of wine on its walls. It is ideal whether you want to enjoy a romantic dinner with your significant other or just a drink with your besties. However, the major focus remains on French wine. In addition to wines from well-known wineries, there are several specialised production areas and grape varieties. The wine list sold by the glass changes every month, enticing customers to come in and sit for a while. The duck liver jelly (cognac half-cooked duck liver) was one of the most impressive things I tried. A row of almost a dozen slices was perfectly arranged on the dish while some duck livers appear smooth and delicate as silk. This duck liver jelly has a rich wine scent and melts in the tongue. The flavour is very mild, so you won't feel greasy if you eat too much. Perfect pairing for the wine. Recommended for those who like to drink some wine, eat some snacks and enjoy a leisurely afternoon.

After you have been showered with so much Local Chinese kindness and hospitality, here’s some 100 years old post colonial business that still exists in modern Shanghai, if it interests you. No matter where you from, what language you speak, who you are, you will only be judged by your OUTFIT. Be care for of what you present yourself I this place. The dress you put on, the shoe you wear and the designer hang bags you carry (remember to show the BRAND to the front desk!!) is everything you get treated. And that is a little bit of what Shanghai is. Unfortunately condensed in this ugly tiny place.

Great dining experience at this restaurant on the highest floor of the Pudong Shangri-la hotel. Super attentive waiter (fluent in English which is a plus) with incredible views of the bund. One of the best duck menus I have ever tasted. Chef Olivier Pistre has combined all the best flavours of la cuisine francaise in this tasteful delight menu Fatty Duck. The delicate use of herbs, berries and nuts bring back the memories of La Chèvre d’Or in Eze Village. Cantina Agave is a popular Mexican eatery located at the Fumin Lu-Donghu Lu corner in Shanghai. It's known for its sunny streetside terrace, perfect for enjoying boozy outdoor drinks. The restaurant offers Tex-Mex favorites like fajitas, nachos, burritos, and tacos designed for sharing and pairing with margarita pitchers and Mexican beer. One of their notable dishes is the Hunan Cumin Beef, inspired by Hunan cuisine.

Decent Mexican food. Service and atmosphere is good. Foreigner friendly for English. Recommend the salad, burritos. The pulled meat has a weird Smokey flavour that make you feel a bit sickish is all. The guacamole and sour cream don’t come as a side you need to order it separately.
Jenny T — Google review
I want to start off by saying energy and ambiance here on weekend is amazing. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The brunch specials are great. But for me personally the food wasnt all that. Aesthetically is looks great but it was kind of bland too me. Maybe it was because I had a plant based burrito. But my friend also said it about the food. So I’ve heard that the food was really good in past. I loved everything about the restaurant and area, so I would definitely go again to try different platters.
Mike M — Google review
The food should have been okay, but the unusual taste of the chicken and pork (perhaps smoked or something similar) made the taste mediocre at best. The rest of the ingredients were fine, but that smoky taste was overpowering and just didn’t work. Leaving a 4 star because it’s worth giving it another shot later incase it was just chance the meat wasn’t nice.

Truly nailed the flavors. It’s amazing that everything from the beef to the salsas and the drinks are all on point. As someone from Mexico it was difficult to not stuff everything at the same time lol. I truly recommend the beef tacos and the Palomas are some of the best I’ve had ever!

Old famous Shanghainese restaurant that now has become too touristy, most of the guests were tourists. The foods were good but not better or different than other good Shanghainese restaurants. The restaurant is very small and the tables were too close to each other, very basic decor … not a pleasant experience.

If I’m in Shanghai, I will have to eat here at least twice! The food is superb and authentic. The restaurant is really old and small and the unisex bathroom is extremely tiny. The food is seasonal, so you would need to ask the waiter what’s available. The Shanghai chicken soup is legendary. The portions are small, so it’s nice for sharing.

Shanghainese institution. Sat in the wine bar across the street. Came with a regular so managed to sample some off-menu seasonal specials.

12/Sep/25. It was like a fast food resturant, the cold chicken had no taste. Generally all dishes we had were a bit below average. Will not visit again. Hot & sour soup was over peppered.

TERRIBLE!!!! A friend recommended Jesse Restaurant as typical Shanghai food. When we arrived there was a waiting line outside. We were very excited, since people seemed to like it. But everything about the restaurant was terrible. The service is rushed, the restaurant is dirty and the food was terrible. We ordered 5 dishes and the only thing we liked was the the plain rice. (We all have been to China several times and normally like Chinese food a lot).

The contemporary look and convenient locations make it a popular choice in Shanghai. It's famous for its excellent dim sum and traditional dishes like roasted pork and Xiao Long Bao. Crystal Jade is consistently packed, especially during lunchtime, making it a must-visit spot for those craving authentic Cantonese cooking.

Readers, I urge you: DO NOT EVER EAT HERE. This restaurant serves shark fin soup, a dish that, by eating it, contributes to the illegal and extremely unsustainable shark finning business. It is absolutely necessary that this restaurant and the chain it belongs to be boycotted for the sake of the sharks and for the sake of our oceans.

The service was top-notch, the staff was very friendly but I will not go back, Shanghai has so many restaurants to choose from and when the food is just OK, there is no need to return. I went as one of a group of five people and the reason we went was their Wednesday special - buy-one-get-one-free on the pasta dishes. We had a table booked for 6 PM, it had a chalkboard on the table to show it was reserved when we arrived almost an hour early. They didn't mind that or the fact that we took an extra table - the booking was actually made for 4. I would recommend booking, it is quite popular. Because it was the BOGOF we ordered six mains between us (four lasagne, one pesto, one tagliatelle with a creamy mushroom sauce. While we waited on the last of our friends to arrive we ordered a platter with some cheese and cold cuts. That was pretty good, the bread was freshly cooked and delicious. The Pesto was very oily and a bit bland, the tagliatelle was pretty good, the lasagne was tasty but not the best I'd had but I could have put away all three to myself as the portions were so small. The decor is nice, although it is a little worn, you can tell it has been around for a few years.

Chili's American Restaurant and Bar is a popular establishment located on the Pudong bank of the river, offering stunning views of the Bund. Known for its sizzling fajitas, sticky ribs, bacon burgers, and Buffalo sauce-coated hot wings, this eatery also serves delicious margaritas. Operating hours vary throughout the week. While some reviewers note limited options for vegetarians and average pricing, many recommend visiting for the picturesque riverfront setting and flavorful dishes.
Food was great. Probably best chilis location in world. Like others stated food portions are pretty small and menu is very limited to what you'd expect. View makes up for anything else though a must go.
Carbon / — Google review
Amazing happy hour spot with a scenic view of the Bund skyline and a cosy backyard (no view but no noise so you can actually talk). Gets very busy on weekends and Fridays. The margaritas are huge (the photo on the menu does not represent the true size) - a bit too sweet for my taste. Good tacos and decent shrimp paella (may be a bit too mushy). But overall everything tasted good. Happy hour till 8pm - you get a 2nd drink for only 10 yuans!

This restaurant has a really nice location. You can just grab a glass of beer or margarita and enjoy the riverside and the passerby. The waiting time was long. I am struggling to compare this resto with any other resto. That is why a five straight star for all services provided by the restaurant. A great view and and optimized interior design by the resto to maximize customers preference, sitting outside to enjoy river view and sun or inside to keep enjoying the view without direct sunlights. The service provided by all the officers are all you can expect from the professionals in their field. Food is amazingly great. All in all, the price you should pay is for all experience you have is worth it. Well done.

This elegant Chinese restaurant offers an array of exquisite dishes and refreshing drinks that are sure to please your palate. Guests have praised the sweet and sour pork for its delicious flavor, although opinions on other items like dim sum and crab fried rice vary.
A nice experience at Jin Xuan! We ate from the à la carte menu which is very reasonably priced! Of course I had to try the Peking duck 👌 Nice experience, nice food and nice service. Well worth a visit!

We celebrated my husband’s birthday at Xin Juan, and the experience was fantastic. The staff added a thoughtful personal touch, presenting us with a special gift that made the evening even more memorable. The food and cocktails were delicious, flavorful and beautifully presented. The ambiance was warm and inviting, perfect for a special occasion. Highly recommend Xin Juan for a memorable dining experience. We’ll definitely be back!

Jin Xuan offers amazing panoramic views of Shanghai, truly one of the city’s best vantage points to soak in the skyline. The service was attentive and accommodating, especially when it came to our special cocktail requests and a custom-made fried rice that turned out perfectly. While the ambience felt a bit flat and didn’t quite match the elegance of the setting, the overall experience was still impressive. Highly recommended for its breathtaking atmosphere and views, along with professional, thoughtful service that makes your visit feel special.

My wife treated me to a private room for my birthday, and it was absolutely incredible — the stunning Shanghai skyline spread right before my eyes. The restaurant holds a Michelin star, the staff were warm and attentive, and every dish was exquisite. As expected from The Ritz, the service truly lived up to its name. It’s a place I’ll always return to when in Shanghai — an unforgettable evening of breathtaking views and exceptional cuisine. Thank you for a memorable experience.

VL K — Google review
Deeply Disappointed – Not Worth the Michelin Claim or the Price I booked Jin Xuan at The Ritz-Carlton Shanghai, Pudong for an anniversary dinner, expecting a fine dining experience worthy of its Michelin reputation and high price. Unfortunately, everything from the reservation process to the meal itself was a huge letdown. The reservation host couldn’t understand my booking request and took several days to respond and confirm my table — causing unnecessary stress while planning a special celebration. The set menu looked impressive on paper, but the food quality was far from it. The 燕窝 (bird’s nest) was a disappointment — thickened almost entirely with starch and without any real flavor or detectable bird’s nest. The oyster soup tasted off; the oyster was clearly not fresh, and the rest of the dishes were overwhelmingly salty, dominated by generic soy sauce flavors with no nuance or balance. Service was just as underwhelming. The server rushed through the courses, showed little understanding of the dishes, and offered no explanation or sense of hospitality you’d expect from a luxury restaurant. At this price point and with a self-proclaimed Michelin reputation, Jin Xuan feels more like a tourist setup than a true showcase of refined Cantonese cuisine. Definitely not worth the hype or the cost.
Alex L — Google review
Might be the least value for money this trip. The food itself was alright, not great. I would t recommend to go here if you think about authentic Chinese food. The flavors was too strong, and kind of resembles western interpretations of Chinese cuisine. Some dish was good like the steamed fish, but it’s nothing spectacular that would be worth it for 1,500 RMB. the view though was amazing…

Scena offers an exceptional hotel brunch with high-quality food and attentive service. The all-you-can-eat buffet and made-to-order options like pasta and eggs make for a satisfying dining experience. With an incredible view over the Bund, making a reservation by the window ensures a mesmerizing backdrop. Dishes like salmon carpaccio and pea soup stand out, while desserts are decent. Overall, Scena's weekend brunch is highly recommended for its food quality and stunning views.
Really happy we came to Scena, beautifully located in the Ritz-Carlton with an amazing view over Shanghai! We tried the family style sharing menu which was really good food, well prepared and well presented. Thanks to the team for the evening! Small feedback on two different types of music playing in the dining room which was annoying, but small problem in the end :)

The view is increíble, if you make a reservation to be near the window it’ll be mesmerizing. Almost everything we order was really good, my favorites were the salmon carpaccio and the pea soup. Such an incredible place for delicious food, great service and amazing views! I had dinner here for my birthday and they even gave me Chinese birthday noodles and a small birthday cake. Hakkasan Shanghai is a stylish and elegant spot with a great atmosphere. The dim sum platter was both beautifully presented and delicious—my favorite was definitely the truffle one, so aromatic and well-balanced. The main dish, with its tender meat and crisp nest-like garnish, was also a highlight. The red wine paired perfectly with the food. Service was attentive, and everything felt very thoughtful and refined. Prices are on the higher side, but totally worth it for a special evening. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a memorable dining experience in Shanghai.

Hakkasan Shanghai is an absolute gem that delivers on every front. The restaurant’s interior design is stunning, a perfect blend of modern elegance and oriental sophistication, creating an ambiance that feels both luxurious and intimate. The location couldn’t be better, offering spectacular views of the Bund and the glittering Shanghai skyline, an experience that’s as visually captivating as it is culinary. The service is truly impeccable: attentive without being intrusive, and every detail is handled with grace and professionalism. The menu offers a great variety, with each dish beautifully presented and bursting with flavor. From classic dim sum to signature mains, every bite reflects quality and refinement. Whether for a special night out, a business dinner, or simply to indulge in top-tier cuisine in a breathtaking setting, Hakkasan Shanghai is highly recommended. A world-class experience from start to finish.

Hakkasan (外滩18号店) 📍 Excellent location — right across from the Bund with postcard-worthy views. Managed to get a window seat, though the windows are quite small, so the view feels a bit limited despite the prime position. ✨ The restaurant is beautifully designed, with a stylish & modern atmosphere that fits the Bund perfectly. 👌 Service was attentive throughout & everything ran smoothly. The only downside is the strict 1.5-hour dining limit, which feels a bit rushed for a high-end place ⏱️. 🍽️ As for the food, the dishes were okay — decent but not particularly memorable for the price & setting. 🌃 The best part came after dinner: stepping out & enjoying the night scenery along the river. The Bund skyline after a meal is still the real highlight of the experience ✨🏙️.
L C — Google review
Being Hakkasan, I expected a little more from the food. The best dish for me was the stir fried beef and that was extremely expensive for the amount you are getting. Other dishes were just alright. For that price, you can definitely get much better. The service was a little slow. It take a few tries to get any attention from the servers even though the restaurant practically empty in the afternoon.
Rachaphon W — Google review
A great experience and wonderful views spoiled by the ending. We booked in here for 8:30 (we did arrive at 9 as the traffic was unreal!) - last bookings were for 9:30. At 10pm we were told it was last orders but what they didn’t tell us was that the air conditioning would be switched off as well. By 10:30 the temperature in the restaurant was very uncomfortable and getting hotter. The problem was that the food was still coming and it was amazing. Credit to the kitchen staff - incredible dishes - we had the set menu for ¥1380 each and the portions were very generous and yet by 10pm it was clear that staff wanted us to leave as they replaced each empty plate (sometimes not quite empty) with a fresh dish. The prices are steep for Shanghai but not when compared to other cities - it’s a great place for a special meal but I would recommend coming at 7:30 latest. I would come back- I would suggest to the staff that you leave the AC on and maybe not rush your guests so much that they leave the restaurant with a bad taste in their mouths that isn’t from the food.
Glen K — Google review
I chose to dine at this restaurant for dinner because I had previously enjoyed meals at their London branch. The atmosphere was exceptional, with a prime location very close to The Bund. I was also impressed by the service; the staff communicated in English quite well, especially in comparison to other places I visited in Shanghai. As for the food, the high quality of the ingredients was evident, which matched the prices on the higher end. However, I believe that dim sum should be served hot rather than at room temperature. On the other hand, the noodles were delicious and certainly lived up to the dish’s reputation.

Yang's Fried Dumpling is a popular spot in the city, located at various places including inside the new food mall at Wujiang Lu and near Xintiandi shopping district. The restaurant offers shengjianbao filled with juicy pork, using thicker dough to withstand high temperatures. Once fried, the dumplings turn golden brown and crispy on the bottom. They are served with chopped cream onions and sesame seeds, making for a delightful treat.
Stopped by for breakfast as I found it on Google map and not far from the subway. I ordered 4 pieces of mixed pork with crab soup and prawn fried dumpling and a small chicken soup with wanton. The portion was huge and those dumplings were exceptional. Crispy outside, tasty soup and meaty inside. I couldn't ask for more. Perfect meal with a very affordable price. I'm a foreigner but very easy to order by using either Alioay or wechat to scan QR code. There was a live wanton making just next to my table. What a meal.

When I arrived at around 1pm the restaurant was jam packed as the pics show. So I chose take out. The menu for the dumplings are easy as they have pics on the board and menu. No English text though. I ordered the prawn and veg/meat combo, as you see in the vid freshly being made in the compact kitchen. Both were delicious. Thin skins, great flavor with a lot of filling, crisp at the bottom, silky soft above and perfectly seasoned. Crazy taste sensation especially with the added sesame. It all combines to give you an amazing dish that will become addictive. Both portions in my pic for ¥43 is enough to fill me easily, excellent value too. Don’t waste your money at Michelin star restaurants. Try this.

The dumplings here are excellent—flavorful and well-made. Ordering is surprisingly easy thanks to WeChat QR codes at each table that translate the menu automatically. This feature makes navigating the Chinese-only menu simple for visitors. Service follows the typical no-frills Chinese style. Don't expect chatty waitstaff, but the food speaks for itself. It's a 5 star review because these guys do a pretty good job at everything they do, consistent and across the board and whilst you may have had better in a dedicated restaurant to a certain cuisine it's unlikely you had the same consistently across all cuisines and to a good standard. Excellent Thai chain restaurant. One of the best in Shanghai. I recommend the green curry chicken.
Phil A — Google review
The setting is nice and the outside seating area is very lively and enjoyable however the food is mediocre at best. The 'chef' seems to have read about Thai food in some cookbook and tried to apply it. It is lacking the Thai spirit of richness and succulence if there is such a spirit. Disappointing and the pad Thai smelled off. We returned it after the first bite and we still got charged for it... because the 'chef' said it is 'Ok'. If anything just go for the glass noodle salad... which cannot go wrong even if you try to mess it up

The Simply Thai chain of restaurants has got to be one of my favorite Thai choices in Shanghai and the one in Xintiandi has a nice cosy feel. They have a good, varied selection of curries which have a subtle spicy taste. The selection of meat only dish may not be as extensive as other Thai restaurants but the other choices more than make up for it. Beer is a little expensive but the rest of the food is reasonably priced. Don't come here expecting really spicy food, all of the dishes have a medium spice but if that's ok with you, then its a great choice.

Cuivre French Restaurant is a charming southern French bistro with a countryside vibe, offering an array of modern and generously portioned French dishes. Situated at 1502 Huaihai Zhong Lu, near Wulumuqi Nan Lu, this restaurant features a dedicated play area upstairs where kids aged 1 to 5 can engage with puzzles, toys, and watch TV while parents savor their meal.
Loved it! Had no clue I'd be ordering a burger, but walking in I saw a few ordered by other folks and couldn't resist. Salad was so good too! The place has a great vibe and service was fantastic. Wish I had taken a few more pics but I dug into that burger before I had a chance lol.

An Unforgettable Culinary Experience at Cuivre A Gem in the Former French Concession Cuivre is an absolute jewel in the heart of Shanghai’s enchanting Former French Concession—a neighborhood that effortlessly blends the charm of old-world Europe with the dynamic pulse of contemporary China. Nestled along a leafy avenue that invites leisurely strolls, Cuivre feels like a refined retreat where exceptional cuisine and warm hospitality come together in perfect harmony. The brilliance of Cuivre lies in the inspired leadership of Chef Michael Wendling, whose passion for French cuisine is evident in every dish. From classic interpretations to bold innovations, each plate is a thoughtful expression of flavor, texture, and precision. Whether it’s a beautifully executed duck confit or an indulgent slice of tarte tatin, the culinary artistry on display is both comforting and exciting. Just as memorable is the service, led with grace and professionalism by Nicolas, the restaurant’s ever-attentive manager. He brings a personal touch to each visit, offering thoughtful recommendations and ensuring that every guest feels welcomed and valued. The team’s hospitality, much like the atmosphere, is relaxed yet elegant—striking the perfect balance that makes you want to return again and again. Cuivre is more than just a restaurant—it’s an experience. Whether you’re a long-time resident of Shanghai or simply passing through, this is a place that captures the spirit of the Former French Concession: sophisticated, timeless, and full of life. Bravo to Chef Michael and Nicolas for creating something truly special.

Excellent food, wine and service, cozy atmosphere & very comfy chairs ;) I would say - better experience than in ‘LeBec’ . My favorite - the Foie gras with Chorizo - délicieux! But Pulpo, Steak & crème brûlée are fabulous too! - Highly recommend!

Wonderful French restaurant - great food, great wine selection, and great staff. The location is fantastic - a two-minute walk from the #10 line on Metro. The atmosphere is welcoming and so are the employees. Many people were celebrating birthdays etc. while we were there. We came for the first time to celebrate our anniversary and we enjoyed everything we ate.

Garlic Turkish Restaurant in Shanghai is a delightful culinary destination that showcases the rich flavors of Middle Eastern cuisine. Known for its halal offerings, this restaurant stands out with an impressive array of Mediterranean specialties, including succulent beef with peach sauce and savory chicken with mushroom sauce. Vegetarians and vegans will find plenty to love here too, as Garlic features a variety of mouthwatering options like falafels, stuffed pitas, and vibrant salads that highlight the region's culinary creativity.
We recently went for a dinner to Garlic, my favourite Turkish restaurant in Shanghai. We received recommendations from the chef as we were accompanied by a Turkish colleague who agreed the menu with him. The order and presentation of the dishes was great and original in flavour. I will be back.

An elevated Mediterranean restaurant with great selection of wines (including some Turkish options) and unique dishes beyond your usual hummus and kebab. The warm hummus with lamb was such an amazing discovery! Also they bring you delicious puffy bread and variety of condiments - which will make you full, beware! The owner is super approachable and nice, makes each guest feel very welcomed. Very mixed crowd of western and local people, lots of beautiful girls:) The ambiance is nice enough to dress up and not too posh if you wnat to be more casual.

Ohoud A — Google review
In the short time, that I have lived in Shanghai I have been to restaurants that did not deserve a second visit but Garlic is not like that. We will be going back for a second visit although I do not know when we will be. We arrived around 17:40, the sun was still up and the dining room was bright, clean, tidy and very nicely decorated with a charming style that does not show any signs of age. My one gripe was the lighting, as the sun went down the dining room was not bright enough, overhead there were lots of bulbs with glowing elements that looked very nice but did not provide enough illumination. Our group were not the only people to think this, twice I noticed patrons at other tables using the flashlights from their phones to look at the menu. The staff were very nice, although one woman was not confident enough assisting us using English and my Chinese is less than great, especially when I have had a few drinks. Throughout the 2 hours we were there the staff were very good removing empty dishes and refreshing glasses. Towards the end, I thought that they were doing this as a hint that they wanted to clear the table for the next customers but this was not the case. It did take us more than a few minutes to get the bill when we wanted to leave but the dining room was busy and close to full at that point, so I will not hold that against the staff. The food was great, my wife and I ordered the set menu, which was more than enough with five cold starters, two warm starters then the “grill” which was a very large plate with vegetables and several meats. One of our friends is a vegan, he was happy enough with several different starters, three other friends all ordered the same kebab and no one had any complaints about their choices.
Mister D — Google review
One of the best Turkish restaurants I’ve visited abroad. Besides the foods atmosphere, music and service were amazing. You can also drink Turkish Raki there.
Erkan E — Google review
not sure how they accumulated purported high ratings. Maybe they did well in the past. The beef sirloin and roasted lamb they serve are fake processed meat that doesnt even resemble real meat in smell or texture in any way shape or form. let alone the portion is tiny not even feeding a 5 yr old. Everything comes with mediocre yogurts on top of a splash of tomato sauce that dont smell tomato. last not least I advice you be cautious visiting the place if you arnt born with tough digestive system as the staff has terrible hygienic manner. It is a phenomenon in SH that most highrating dine-ins open more than 10 yrs spiral down sharply since 2024. So find yourself a local foodie if you picky with the food

The menu features steamed buns stuffed with various fillings, pyramid-shaped dumplings of glutinous rice, and flaky cakes filled with jujube paste.

STAY AWAY Worst food and horrible service. No sense of helpfulness or friendliness from the staff. Everything tastes very one-sided. The braised pork tasted like cheap chemicals food coloring.

The food was served in a good decoration and the taste is better than other normal restaurants here. The portion is suitable for 3-4 people. As an Asian I love the taste here and service. The price is higher than other places in other areas since it is located in the tourist attractions zone. Food starts from 60-70 RMB and the highest could go to 1000 RMB depending on the ingredients.

This is a very authentic Shanghainese restaurant located in the heart of Chenghua Miao. The food is excellent the waiting times around major public holidays like new years celebrations are a little crazy. The Hongshao pork is excellent and I also recommend the Lengqie Ji cold chicken dish. The upstairs rooms have a great view of the pond. Three people cost around 800RMB in Feb 2024. The menu is in Chinese and English. Most staff do not speak English so a little mandarin is helpful. During busy periods they operate a queuing system with numbers allocated depending on table size. During the lantern festival in 2024 (Chinese New Year in February) we had to wait for around an hour to be seated. This restaurant has been visited by a number of notable people over the years including g President Bill Clinton and Queen Elizabeth II.

This is a quintessential and most classic place to dine in Shanghai. It received many presidents and diplomats including US presidents (for example, Bill Clinton and Hilary Clinton) and other high profile guests. The best part of the food is the desserts!! So delicate, so delicious that I cannot find anywhere in other parts of Shanghai. The seating situation however sometimes is a little chaotic since it is too popular! Remember to get your number so that you can have a table.

Southern Barbarian Yunnan Restaurant is renowned for its delicious homestyle Yunnan cuisine and an impressive beer selection. The original location in Puxi offers over 70 varieties of beer, while the new Pudong restaurant has added 20 more to its drink list, making it one of the most extensive beer menus in town. Adventurous diners can try Yunnan-style bug platters featuring deep-fried wood bugs, bamboo worms, grasshoppers, and honeybees.
Massive variety of both food and Belgian beer (I was a touch disappointed to see Portland represented by Rogue) at ~150RMB per. English-friendly.

Great (not so) little yunan resturant (little fusioned i must say) Great BBQ food, plus decent selection of beer. (it almost hurt to see everytime someone order a bottle of Tsingdao beer when there are much bigger selection of craft beer all over the world to choose from)

Could be a very nice "hidden" restaurant if : 1) most of the dishes were not pre-cooked and microwaved 2) if the extremely loud and rude American teachers would find another dining place or simply visit the Mc...they belong to...3) awful music would be replaced by some jazz, ethnic music...anything else than the prevailing playlist 4) if dishes like the Yunnan rösti would be padded in tissue to remove excess oil...

FU 1088 is a contemporary Chinese restaurant located in a 1920s Spanish-style mansion, offering a peaceful ambiance and live piano music. The Shanghainese dishes are prepared with unique twists, such as the red braised pork belly and crab roe paste, which are highly recommended. The minimum spend per person is RMB 400, excluding alcohol, but the setting alone justifies the price tag.
wow. A Shanghai-nese friend of mine got his mom to book us this place when we went to SH. The food was mind blowing! I’m not a fan of seafood but their fish was simply divine. Just look at my videos. If you come to Shanghai, I hope you get the luck to get a reservation for this restaurant! I swear you would not regret it.

Set in a charming old colonial house, this spot feels special with private dining rooms that are perfect for an intimate lunch or dinner with friends or family. The food was clean, well-prepared, and nicely presented. I’m not usually into Shanghainese food, but this place made me enjoy it—and it’s a good spot to visit if you’re looking for an introduction to Shanghainese cuisine. Service really stood out too: friendly and attentive without being over the top. Definitely worth trying out.
Michael C — Google review
Located on Zhenning Road, Jingan, Shanghai in the former French quarter of old Shanghai, China. It is a Michelin recommended restaurant. Prices are expensive, but food tastes great, so is the service. A beautiful tiled entrance, wood panelling and striking light fittings are just some of the original features of this 1920s townhouse. Its 16 traditionally furnished private rooms evoke old Shanghai charm. The food is equally sophisticated: river shrimp are made to order; the smoked mackerel belly dressed in a mildly sweet glaze is crisp but juicy. No meal here is complete without the cashew praline puff pastry.

Hello Fu 1088 AW HELL NAH!! I aint grubb on nun dis nasty in a while dawg! I asked the staff what they recommended and it was hairy crab with shark fin. I figured i should try it even though its against my morals. The wait was long but when the food came, I wish it hadn’t😭😭😭 The shark was like a slimy, stringy and tasteless blobb. Surrounded by what could have been a beautiful crab. But instead, torn to pieces and wasted. Also basically tasteless. But the consistency made it so unpleasant. I wanted to like it so bad but it was just nasty. I also had some dumplings. They where fine but the ones you get in a basic little tavern are better, tastier and more worth it price wise. The service was nice and apologized. The premises are amazing, and wonderfully decorated. Such a shame that the food quality spoiled it. Im sure there are things on the menu that are better. Good luck Fu 1088

A wonderful dining experience at Fu1088 Shanghai. The restaurant features different private rooms with distinctive vintage decorations. The service was top notch and received a bowl of complimentary birthday noodles. The dishes served here definitely deserved Michelin Star award. The crabmeat served with toast was definitely a great appetiser to begin with. The signature braised pork belly was absolutely flavourful and it melted in the mouth. The two different version of sharks fin soup were good. A highly recommended restaurant to visit in Shanghai!

While their dishes may not look very special, the taste was amazing with flavors you don't normally experience. The restaurant is housed in an old mansion so it has the normal signs of wear and tear. Service was good except we could hear the waitstaff chattering away outside while in our private dining room.

i m not sure if it is this one cos in chinese the name is fu1039. It looks like it anyway so now i go. Great exclusive ambience of the colonial house, service is not top stars though look and feel really five stars. The Shanghainese food with a more sophisticated presentation, taste like a real shanghai food too. Neat, Michelin quality presentation - no wonder it s recommended. Restaurant
Sir Elly's is a luxurious rooftop bar located at The Peninsula Hotel on the Bund in Shanghai. It offers stunning panoramic views of the city skyline and provides cozy red blankets for guests to snuggle up with.
Picture this: the sun hanging low in the sky, casting a warm golden glow over the bustling Bund of Shanghai. It was a Sunday afternoon, and the city was alive with the harmonious blend of old-world charm and modern energy. Amidst this vibrant tapestry, I found myself on a journey to Sir Elly's Terrace, a hidden gem perched atop the Peninsula Hotel. The Bund, a historic waterfront area, has long been a canvas that tells the story of Shanghai's evolution. Its skyline, adorned with a collection of colonial-era architecture and towering skyscrapers, mirrors the city's dynamic soul. And in the heart of this lively mosaic, the Peninsula Hotel stands as a testament to the city's elegance and luxury. The Peninsula's history, entwined with the Kadoorie family's legacy, adds an extra layer of significance to this remarkable place. As I stepped onto Sir Elly's Terrace, a sense of enchantment enveloped me. It was around 5pm, and the terrace was bathed in a soft, ethereal light. The atmosphere was a symphony of relaxation and sophistication – a perfect escape from the city's hustle and bustle. The Terrace's real magic lay in its panoramic views of the Bund. From this vantage point, I could feel time slowing down, allowing me to soak in the city's rich history and its modern ambitions. In the company of friends, I decided to embrace the moment with a classic cocktail – a Negroni. The Negroni's harmonious blend of flavors seemed to mirror the essence of the Bund itself – a fusion of old and new, bitter and sweet. Sipping the Negroni, I felt connected to the stories that had unfolded on these historic streets. The Peninsula Hotel is renowned for its impeccable service, and Sir Elly's Terrace was no exception. The staff's genuine warmth and attentiveness elevated the experience from wonderful to unforgettable. Every detail, from the perfect spot to offering insights about the city, was thoughtfully taken care of. It was as though the Peninsula's commitment to excellence extended beyond the walls of the hotel and onto the terrace. As the sun began its descent, I realized that my visit to Sir Elly's Terrace was more than a mere outing – it was a journey through Shanghai's heart. The Bund's timeless allure, the Kadoorie family's enduring legacy, and the Peninsula's dedication to creating moments of wonder all intertwined to craft an experience that I would forever cherish. As I reluctantly left the terrace, I couldn't help but marvel at how the city's vibrant energy continued to pulse. The Bund, with its history etched in its stones, stood as a testament to Shanghai's journey through time. And in the midst of it all, Sir Elly's Terrace remained a hidden oasis, a radiant jewel that had offered me an experience of pure enchantment. As I walked away, I knew that this was more than a visit – it was a story I would tell for years to come, a memory that had become a part of my own journey.

Certain dining experiences leave an unforgettable mark in your culinary memory, lingering long after the last bite. Not only the food is memorable, the interior of the restaurant is beautiful. And it’s a decadent experience to go here! Sir Elly’s is located with a breathtaking view of the Bund, and Huangpu River in an exclusive decadent setting. The chef and his team is creating magic here. Modern, jet classic cuisine created into a fantastic experience. Do I wanna come back, Yes I sure do. And that says it all.

What about Shanghai! It’s reminding me of Hong Kong before the take over. Racy, high beating, savvy, ascending. What a restaurant was Pollux - from the moment I walked in greeted promptly, given options for tables, swift to bring my drinks, onwards we went. Foie gras was the best I’ve had almost anywhere, turbot was stunning, side of spinach was standout, dessert was a basque cheesecake which I imagine even the Spaniards in San Sebastián would drool over. Start to finish all was excellent though my negroni was average but I set it aside because of the rest. High recommend for anyone visiting Shanghai who wants a change from Chinese. Superb place would definitely go back.

i was here for a dinner and it's a very busy place. booking in advance is highly recommended. i first ordered a cocktail to allow myself to relax then pick the food after. the cocktail was fine. then we had an appetizer, the ham platter, it's quite a big portion and good for 3-4 to share with. for main, i had a steak, it's nicely grilled still pink inside. just it'd be better with less salt or pepper. then dessert i had a traditional creme burlee, it was very nice. so overall i think the food was fine, atmosphere is good here. happy to come again when it's less noisy!

Din Tai Fung is a top pick for high-end traditional Chinese cuisine, known for its consistent and delicious soup dumplings. The pork and shrimp dumplings are highly recommended, and the menu is in English with the convenience of accepting credit cards. With well-organized and standardized restaurants, it's a popular choice to bring visitors. Expect to spend around 100-150 per person for an amazing dining experience.
Consistent soup dumplings every time. I stop by one of these every time I come to this side of the world. The pork soup dumplings are fantastic. I also always get the shrimp dumplings. Just as good. There are many other dumpling places in the city but these are pretty good and they take credit cards and the menus are in English. Highly recommend trying these dumplings out.

Service is available is possible in English although if you want to enquire about any specific dish some Mandarin is helpful. Awesome place for a quick bite to eat. They have like 30 options of grilled cheese sandwiches. The staff is super friendly and speak English. It can get packed at peak times so head over early if you want a seat. I’ve been here several times and each time I get something different. I have yet to find something I don’t like. Highly recommend this place for lunch or dinner.

Attention! They moved to a new location many years ago! They are now at the intersection shaanxi south road x nanchang road. The mac and cheese sandwich is the best thing in the world if you feel homesick! The beers are good and there is a cozy atmosphere. Definitely worth a visit and a great place for afterwork beers.

From a Michelin listed restaurant i would of expected a “Wow” factor but alas it was good nothing more nothing less. Personally, i thought the pesto pasta was lacking salt and pepper.

This is the Italian pasta restaurant part of the Westin hotel on the Bund. Visited here in March 2025 as part of my stay in the hotel. The atmosphere is slightly sterile I found, but made up for it with the food which was excellent and likewise the staff service. It's located a few floors up from reception, part of the main interior lobby.
Kaptain K — Google review
ITALIAN INSPIRED RESTAURANT WITHIN THE WESTIN HOTEL Prego has a lunch set menu offer with a guaranteed fast service. Its on the mezzanine level of the hotel (up the escalators near the check in desk). Its fairly pricey but does serve good quality food. The dining area is very comfortable with some tables enjoying views down into the hotel atrium.
Ian W — Google review
A continual disappointment. I've stayed at the Westin for many years and the hotel is very good...service, cleanliness ambience. But whether lunch or dinner, the food at this restaurant is inconsistent at best. Spotty service, a kitchen that doesn't get it and an aged menu. Where is the chef? Should be much better for the relative hotel quality.

Weixiangzhai, a well-known noodle shop in Shanghai, is celebrated for its iconic dish, ma jiang mian. This spicy sesame noodle dish features a generous serving of sesame sauce draped over the noodles and accompanied by what seems to be chili oil. It's recommended to mix everything together promptly as the texture can become sticky if left for too long.
The best sesame paste noodles i ever had! You can ask for an English menu and then just point to what you would like to have. The shop has a long history on this therefore really crowded, also with locals. You will have to wait for a while until you find a free spot. Once you sit down, the waiter will take your number and bring you the food you ordered. I can also recommend the beef soup as a side. Open daily from 6:15 to 21:00.
Mugi Y — Google review
It was the best meal we had in Shanghai, Michelin bib gourmand 5 years in a row for a reason. Super good sesame noodles and dumplings, curry beef soup also okay 4/5. People working there are very helpful, there was English menu. Prices very affordable. Recommend!
Krszmc — Google review
**Review:** This Chinese restaurant was a pleasant surprise! For just 100 yuan, we ordered five dishes, and while not everything was perfect, some were absolutely delicious. The **noodles with peanut sauce** stood out—rich flavor, delicate aroma, practically "Michelin"-worthy at this price! And the **herb dumplings** were tender, juicy, with perfectly thin dough. The food was prepared incredibly fast, ready in just 10 minutes, which was a big plus. Admittedly, a couple of dishes were a bit plain, but given the price and speed, it’s forgivable. If you want tasty and affordable food, I highly recommend it! 4.5/5

Food is really not bad. We went on a weekday, waited 15 minutes for a table. The place can be hectic when crowded. Food came pretty fast. Would recommend to order some soup to go along as it can be slightly hard to swallow due to the peanut paste. Overall recommended.

O’Mills Bakery is a gem conveniently located next to the airport gate, making it a perfect spot for a quick meal. The sourdough pizza was absolutely delicious – the crust is light, airy and perfectly tangy, with fresh and flavorful toppings that elevate the whole experience. We spend 90USD for 2 adults and 2 children. While it’s slightly on the pricier side, the quality of the food makes it worth every penny. Highly recommended!

Saw this bakery at PVG AirPort , to be honest, I was happy. Finally have a so nice bakery here except for the blue bottle cafe and % . We ordered a baguette sandwich with Prosciutto combined with basil sauce. Flavor wise is good, but I don’t think the prosciutto should be warm up so hot. The baguette is good, and I ordered one plain baguette which is quite nice after roasted. Price is quite high, 98 rmb for one sandwich (not a bigger portion) , service is just ok.

Located just across The Louis, LV Ship, is the largest Starbucks Reserve in Asia. They offer wide range of Coffee, tea, even cocktail and others in their Bar Mixato. The coffee menu here is unlike anything I've found at other Sbucks stores, even at the Reserves (Shanghai specials). But most of the coffees are served in hot only. They also had an activity offer for tasting and like combo package, but sadly we're in a hurry to catch our flight. The architectural was immersive just like any Starbucks with their unique touch in each stores. The place spreads into 2 floors and the copper cask, I believe is the main focus of the building. The service wasn't really friendly and pretty slow. It took 15mins or so to get my order ready. I don't think they speak english, they knew that we're foreigners but keeps on talking in rap Chinese.
Felita G — Google review
Came here on a Saturday afternoon. Even though it was crowded, there’s free seating & plenty of space across both floors, so we still found a table for 4 👍. The place is huge & super lively — you can see the coffee roasting setup, different bars & lots of people exploring ☕🔥 Had some light snacks & tarts which were nice 🥧. The mixed drinks were decent 🍹. The craft beer, though… it really needs to decide whether it wants to be beer or coffee — but definitely not both 😞🍺☕. Overall, a fun spot to visit at least once. Great atmosphere, just don’t expect quiet vibes or good beer 😉.

Upon arrival for high tea we were directed to the back room (not shown there). Because the outside area was full, we were given an inside table to sit at until a table became available. We finally had to get menus ourselves to look at. They eventually put us at a table outside, but when it started to sprinkle, we wanted to return inside so as not to get wet. The waiter WATCHED as we toted in our bags and all of the plates, cups, etc, without helping or even holding the door open for us! To top it all, we were in the middle of eating and they presented us with the bill. Personally, I don't like handling money and food at the same time and would have been happy to pay either before or after, but no, we had to pay right then. I have been to New Heights before and always enjoyed meals there, but this time was an absolute disaster.

I like that there are two different rooms to move around throughout the evening. Good vibes, crowd and music! Bar service is relatively fast but payment service is slow. Got lucky. Cannery has my been a repeat spot for me everytime I come back to sh. Not just because they’re dog friendly, have great wine and beer, damn good food but service is always good and the comfy chairs. Can’t leave because you don’t want to get up. Beautiful summer evening before Shanghai wet season starts. The breezy weather is perfect for patio seating. Can never go wrong here at Cannery, Mark and his team always takes care of you. Monday nights for the 98元 clam steamers (do it with the Chinese shaoxing) wash it down with a cold pitcher of Pilsner and then contemplate ordering the burger or fish and chips. MAC N CHEESE- if that’s your thing loved it. But also get the raw oysters. So. Sweet. So good. But also!!! My recent Friday obsession is their lunch!!! Choice of 100g of protein: Yummy steak (get the steak. Juicy) Yummy salmon (or the salmon. So good) Yummy pork ribs and all you can eat KALE SALAD AND MAC AND CHEESE. Heaven. Do it. Come Friday for lunch.
