We are from the suburbs of Chicago and this was our first time in Dubuque. It was a Friday night and we loved the artistic and rustic feel of the Mill district as we walked toward the restaurant. The restaurant is small but warm. Our server was spot on with her timing. Drinks were wonderfully crafted and the food was unique and delicious. The chef obviously takes pride in their selections of locally sourced fresh ingredients and presenting them with visually satisfying appeal. They tasted delicious as well albeit a touch on the salty side but that may be my personal aversion. Overall we really enjoyed our dinner and it put us in a great mood to enjoy the rest of our stay.

The Salmon was a bit dry but it melted-in-my-mouth tender, the salmon is elevated by a velvety velouté and fresh spring peas. Cocktail Review Both cocktails I had were absolutely delicious and showcased creativity and balance. We had the ribeye, which was cooked to absolute perfection—tender, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. The ½ Amish chicken was equally impressive, so delectable that every bite left us wanting more. You could tell the kitchen takes pride in every detail, from the freshness of the ingredients to the balance of the menu. What truly set the evening apart, though, was the staff. I could be biased since I’m very poor, and it was my first time ever ordering at a restaurant with a menu item over $30 except family-size combo meals in drive thrus..but this is the best food I have ever tasted. I accompanied my mother here for my 8th grade graduation, and browsing the menus online I originally thought the menu changed seasonally…and it does, but the items also change regularly. Originally for the spring menu I found online, my mother was interested in the bucatini (sort of Thai dish with peanut sauce) and I was going to order the gnocchi (which had an edible flower in it that sounded intriguing) But when we sat down, there was no gnocchi and the bucatini was completely different! I embraced this change well and I actually really enjoy it, because now I was pushed to broaden my ideas and order a different item than “planned”. This helped me loosen my grip on always planning things when going out to a sit-in restaurant and instead I could accept just going with it. The service was amazing. We were greeted (even welcomed) within a couple minutes of sitting down and asked of any dietary restrictions. We did not end up ordering any drinks (I am 14, my mother’s not too big on alcohol, and each drink was $7 for non-alcoholic) So I ordered the salmon (medium well because I’m a wuss) and my mother ordered the “vegan” since she’s a vegetarian.. The salmon was amazing. I don’t know if it’s because I ordered medium well but it had some crisp on the outside, which basically melted in your mouth. The sauce underneath was surprising upon first bite, pretty lemony and a little creamy. I’m going to be honest with you, I don’t know what vegetables were underneath aside from dill which I’m sure of, it looked like an asparagus head, cubed potato pieces, and one other thing I’m a bit unsure of. I enjoyed the caviar (as my first time having caviar) and I found it to be buttery (???) but also a bit bitter. I had a couple bites of my mom’s vegan order (it was gigantic compared to mine) and it was great. Large pieces of crispy tofu(?) in an ocean of this nice almost tangy tomato-based sauce with other greens, some dill and large beans. I do want to note that the complimentary bread and butter was interesting, I really enjoyed the simple presentation and the whipped butter, but the bread was very hard and difficultly crunchy on the crust, and a little squishy on the inside. Despite this I had 2 pieces… Onto dessert. I found the short dessert menu to be simple and I wasn’t overwhelmed with what to choose. A few were $10, one 14. Not overpriced by any means. I ordered the crème brûlée (a classic that I have never had before) and my mother the vegan (see a pattern?) chocolate red velvet cake. The crème brûlée was to die for. genuinely, I would die for that crème brûlée. I enjoyed the presentation of the blueberries and I felt it was perfectly sized for a dessert. The custard underneath was still cold so condensation formed on the outside! The vegan chocolate cake was also phenomenal. I have no idea how they did it without milk, I’m usually not a big fan of buttercream but the frosting on this was so rich and tangy (a bit tart) I could not resist stealing a couple bites. An amazing dining experience overall. I’m hopping to return here after my first day of 9th grade to try the summer menu! Maybe next time, I won’t be the only minor dining..

We had an amazing pizza at Brazen Open Kitchen + Bar. Good drink. I really enjoyed my side salad as well. Really cool atmosphere.

Every single dish & cocktail, every single time I visit, is delicious! Hands down the best place to eat dinner or just grab a cocktail and dessert, in or around Dubuque. Cannot recommend this place enough!

Friendly atmosphere, quality ingredients. 1 star off because we ordered the salmon dish and it was basically an appetizer. 4oz piece of fish with cut up broccolini. Presentation could have been better with whole pieces of broccolini rather than chopping it up. Food tasted great. Our server Kristine was wonderful and attentive.

A chic and warm bistro serving gourmet comfort food downtown. I tried the meatloaf and crab cakes — both were bursting with flavor and freshness. The house salad and focaccia were excellent too. Service was attentive and knowledgeable. The atmosphere is cozy yet refined. Definitely a spot I’ll return to.

We had a nice dinner in there. Service was great and atmosphere is calm and peaceful. Nice place to have a meal after day full of adventures in museum. They opened Sundays night so one more thing which nice about this place

My girlfriend and I were greeted kindly, shown to our table. The table was sticky No server ever came to take our order or bring us drinks We stayed for over 20 minutes before just walking out. Worst service I’ve ever experienced in my life. The staff was happily engaged with themselves at the front bar area while we sat unattended - there were only four total tables of other customers ( max group size four ) so it was not busy at all the staff was just not being well managed / kept in check.

Our waitress was amazing. Her name was Chloe. She truly made this a 5 star experience. Food was exceptional and the dining space was pleasant.

Was recommended this place by my son in law. WOW, the food did not disappoint. The thin crust pizza was amazing a very large (14 in), enough for 3 people for sure. Salads were great and the brownie for dessert was crazy good. Highly recommend this place of you are in Dubuque. It's a bit pricey but portions are big and you can share

Located on Main Street, this is a cozy brick‑walled bistro offering seasonal dishes and an excellent wine list. I tried lamb chops and the beef short rib ravioli — beautifully plated and deeply flavorful. Service felt upscale and welcoming. Perfect for date nights or refined dinners.

I haven’t been to Dubuque in quite a few years and was pleasantly surprised to see that The Pepper Sprout is still there. I’ve eaten there in the past and it was wonderful and nothing has changed. We started with a drink at the bar and enjoyed some fun conversation with other guests and then enjoyed another well prepared meal under the supervision of Chef Kim. Her love and passion are very apparent with her restaurant. Our entrees included meatloaf for my wife which she enjoyed and I chose the pork porterhouse. The tenderloin side was nice and tender while the other side may have been a chewier than my liking. The bourbon sauce with my chop was amazing. All in all, go and enjoy a fine dining experience at The Pepper Sprout, you won’t be disappointed.

All around great experience! Warm pleasant vibe, attentive friendly staff, absolutely delicious meatloaf! Wow! Chef Kim Wolff impresses and I appreciated the short chat before dessert. A great family dinner.

The cook and owner here (Kim?) has some real skills! My brother and I loved our food, cocktails, and Tempranillo. I’ve eaten in many Michelin star restaurants and thoroughly enjoyed our experience here. What a great place for Dubuque!

We had the most wonderful experience at Pepper Sprout! On their summer menu we enjoyed the Dip into Summer appetizer which was garlic forward and came with delicious fresh soft pretzel sticks. The spicy garlic Caesar salad was incredible! For our entrees we had the Grilled Beef Tenderloin and Shrimp and Scallops. We ended up sharing both. It was some of the best food I have ever eaten! The staff were so friendly and the atmosphere is elegant and relaxing at the same time. Very highly recommend.

We came from Chicago and knew we had to come here again after experiencing it in the Spring. This visit did not disappoint. Marissa was our waitress and she was just amazing. Our waitress Fiona from the last visit also remembered us and I think this is what makes this restaurant stand out. They are incredibly personable, welcoming, and just an all around enjoyment to be around. Kim the owner met our table in the Spring and the chef came and visited our table this visit after we requested a full fig cheesecake. The food is indulgent and keeps you coming back. I always have leftovers and my plate was cleaned up quickly tonight. Thank you for such an amazing experience. Will be making this a must EVERY time we come into town.

Very good food and drink. The food was delicious and interesting with large portions. Prices were very reasonable making the meal a very good value. Our server was above average and the dining room was updated. I wish I lived here so I could visit more often. It would definitely be a go to place if I lived in Dubuque.

Absolutely loved this brewery! Decided to go big and got The Big D flight! Got to try whole beer menu! It was great! Atmosphere was laid-back. Staff was friendly. Also had small menu of food to order as well. Definitely going to come back whenever we are in town. Highly recommend for beer lovers!

This review is for beer only. We stopped in after having lunch elsewhere and the weather was nice enough that they had the overhead doors open. There was no servers during our visit so all drinks had to be ordered from the bar. The beers were good and they had a nice variety of styles. I would recommend a stop if you enjoy craft beer.

Lovely building. Tasty beers. Enjoyed a brown ale ‘Builder the Bob’. Always hesitant to drink a brown ale, have been disappointed so many times classifying a brown ale as brown water. Builder the Bob was so much more, malty, nice toffee flavor, solid. Thank you Dimensional Brewing

I really love the beers here. However, their sour beers are extremely fruit forward. If you are looking for more of a goze sourness, that's not what you're looking for. Still, they are delicious. Like drinking alcohol fruit. I also had the 'have a catch' hazy IPA and that was also very good. But probably the least hoppy IPA I have ever had. Billy and Mike were awesome bartenders. We really enjoyed our visit here.

I love this place. I’m a huge fan of sours and this place delivers every time. I’m from Chicagoland and it’s worth every minute of the 3 hour drive. Try the Smoothie Style Sours. They look kinda scary, but are so good.

The food is REMARKABLE, like I was really surprised at how good the brisket was. The mustard bbq sauce was a perfect compliment. The loaded fries with the blackened chicken was just out of this world good. I could eat three baskets of those!! Now, the only reason I’m giving them a 4/5 is because we both got flights of beer and some were very ehh. But, Whoa Yeah sour is amazing and would come back just for that. Highly suggest if ever in Dubuque.

Dimensional Brewing Company has a great downtown Dubuque City vibe. They have awesome IPA beers I grabbed a flight to try all 4 IPA beers and was disappointed all very tasty. The establishment has friendly people working there. They had the garage doors open so it was like sitting outside. Very limited menu for food. Wonderful place to hit up for a beer when in Dubuque.

Great music venue and chill place to hang after work. Unfortunately however, their parking lot is very small, so people like to park in the private parking across the alley. Doubly unfortunately, the bargoers here in busier nights like to piss on the cars in said lot. Would give better ratings if the clientele wasn't so difficult.

Fun outdoor rooftop seating. Had a great local crafted beer that was full of flavor and sweetness. Loved the vibe and unique industrial look and feel.

Quality dive bar. Music isn't too loud, drinks are what you'd expect in a proper dive. Friendly staff and interesting clientele. If you order the food, you'll get what you deserve.

Friendly people and really great shows! They have a kitchen with a new menu as well! Locally sourced veggies as well! Domestics are perfectly priced and the atmosphere of each floor has its own vibe! Definitely a 5 outta 5 in my book for venue/bar

Great place! Thursdays they have open mic hosted by Chad Olson. So, if you play or sing come on down. It's a lot of fun. There are always different musicians stopping by. First Friday of every month they do a bluegrass jam. They have a great rooftop patio covered in AstroTurf. They crank out live music and DJ's on the weekends until midnight on the roof. Just check their website to see who is going to be featured. The owners are really nice people. The bartenders are super welcoming and keep the place nice and clean. Sorry about the poor quality of the pictures. I don't have a great camera on my phone.

Attended a private event here and it was my first visit. The staff was very attentive and the space has a very historic feel. It wont be my last visit especially with the great rooftop areas that they have set up. Looking forward to my next visit.

I had a mixed but overall pleasant experience at Caroline’s. The atmosphere is charming—quiet, classy, and located inside the historic Hotel Julien, which adds a nice touch of elegance. Breakfast was good. My husband enjoyed his corned beef hash (he is a connoisseur) and I enjoyed the huevos rancheros. Portions are very generous. Service was lacking, unresponsive and not attentive. All in all, Caroline’s is a solid spot for a relaxed meal, especially breakfast or brunch. Just know it can be a bit inconsistent depending on the day or the dish. I’d return, but with slightly adjusted expectations.

We have tried to get breakfast three different times. Went to use my gift card from the last mess up they did. We ordered 2 eggs Benedict with crispy hashbrowns paid over 32.00. This is what we got. Such a shame

It may not be a cheap restaurant, but the quality and taste of the dishes served are worth every penny to experience ecstasy of the palate. I don't know if every waiter is the same, but our waitress was very professional, energetic and nice. better food than in Chicago.

We enjoyed a nice birthday lunch, with everyone happy with their food choice. The old hotel ambiance is very nice, but our server Jason merits five stars on his own. He was upbeat, thoughtful, and injected humor into our visit. We are so happy we celebrated here.

5 star might be a little high, but I walked away from my dinner very impressed. My steak was flavorful and not overcooked. The mashed potatoes were some of the best I’ve had in recent memory. The Martini specials on a Thursday was a welcomed surprise that I made sure to take advantage of. My experience was much better than what’s expected at a traditional hotel restaurant.

We had a great breakfast 2 days in a row! Coffee and food was so delicious! Saturday we had Jason as a server and he was phenomenal. Attentive, fun, charismatic, served delicious food. Sunday we had Justin. He was also very good and food was delicious! Highly recommend! Well worth the trip!

A lot of games are tight, even the bonus games. Very smokey. The ATM are old. You can not see the numbers on the pad. Staff seem friendly, and the drinks are not priced badly

A couple of friends and I go to bet on college basketball and nfl football. The atmosphere is great and drinks are reasonable. It's always clean, especially the bathrooms. We have gone several years in a row and will continue into the future.

I've been here 3 times and had great time all 3 visits. After my first visit I received everything I lost that first night ($120) back in the form of 2 $60 Freeplay vouchers. Plenty of games, plenty of parking. Clean, smells good .

Very smokey, slot machine with ashes all over. Took 15 minutes to get 2 beers at the bar. It wasn't that busy. I had a plastic bottle of water with me and an employee told me I had to get rid of it as it was not allowed. None of the casinos in Mn,Wi and Mi have never scolded me. My party won't go here again. Went to the Q. I read in some of owner comments that air quality is very important to them. If that were the case, they could have made the casino smoke free after covid like most casino's.

Really Smokey and the machines don't pay out very tight Pit Bosses were rude and the dealers had no personality. Everywhere you look somebody was wiping down or cleaning something down on the slot machines and then everybody pulls out the chairs at midnight and you got to walk around them all while you're cleaning the joint and I couldn't get a decent steak cuz it wasn't open. I don't think I'll ever be back but that's all good not much for Dubuque Iowa anyway. And you need to get a new printer for your players cards because it took them 15 minutes to get my new players card which doesn't work in any of the machines anyway it kept kicking me out with a red light instead of keeping me logged in and I'm a first-timer and you don't give any free play or any perks or any discounts not too impressed

Drove 45 minutes saying their tables are open until 3:00am. Not true at all. Personal working still tables were open. Walk in and not a table alive. Showed up well before their time limit and was left with I’m sorry. Would recommend the Q every time. Extremely disappointed. Even after exploring, limited options poor payouts from a 7 man group.

Machines were broken, buttons didn't work or slots would error out for void plays. Lots of areas were closed or blocked off. The place was disgusting, bathrooms looked like they hadn't been cleaned and smelled horrible. The only saving grace for this place was the nice lady in filament who busted her toosh working the bar and getting walkin orders. She was super nice and very attentive. For a boyd casino I expected a higher caliber of operations, but Diamond Jo feel extremely short.

I had high expectations. Food score would have been 2 but dessert raised it to a 3. Special soup of day lousy. No flavor. Broth mushroom onion. Seared cauliflower with buffalo sauce was good. However for appetizer this expensive, I expected mounds of well seared cauliflower bites. We got an insultingly tiny amount. Hardly seared at all. Ranch dip very good. Buffalo sauce excellent though. Salads were quite good though. Main courses disappointing. Scallops with roasted garlic risotto. Scallops were done to perfection. But risotto was not good. Tons of garlic. Not well roasted . All one could taste was overwhelming garlic. I pulled out like 8 cloves worth of garlic pieces. It was edible then. No veggies with it at all. My wife's salmon had a sickly sweet topping. Not great. Made decent by adding lots of their excellent Buffalo sauce. Pictures make it look better than it was. Dessert was outstanding though. Orange cheesecake with cranberry topping. Dense, flavorful cheese cake, nice cheesecake flavor with hint of orange shining through. Salvaged the meal. Overall disappointed ☹️. NB In fairness, I forgot to take picture immediately... picture that had salads and cauliflower appetizer was after we had eaten about 60% Seriously tiny amount. Sauce made salads better though.

The females working were pretty rude, but the young man in training was amazing and friendly. Food was ok at best. The Bloody Mary was damn good though! Prices were average. I can't really recommend this place.

The salmon and the wings were great. Our server was very friendly and personable. The cheese curds were alright, the dessert was amazing. This establishment has great aesthetics and good spacing between tables. Great spot for a good lunch and drink

BBQ chicken flatbread pizza was terrific, as was the fish and chips. Service was fast and friendly and we really enjoyed the decor and atmosphere. Great place to enjoy a meal.

Steak was cooked perfect and delicious. Fish tacos very tasty. Bloody Mary’s we fabulous! Got dessert to go. Server was friendly and food came in a very timely matter. Would recommend stopping in to enjoy a meal!!

Stopped by today on the way home from WI and we were not disappointed! The wings were great and HUGE! They even accommodated my “flats only” request. Hubby had a burger and it was equally good. The service was great and even though they were busy Ben took great care of us at the bar and made our meal and experience exceptional!

Had a run with a too well done burger after asking for medium and stated, "please make sure it's not over done or I will have to ask to send it back". Came out Well done and I sent back, was very hungry when I finally got my meal and it was raw. Staff took 1/2 off since I devoured half the burger and ate the fries. Didn't get sick, which is great, but thought they could have handle the situation a bit better. The food is still good!

We stopped in for some drinks at the bar and had great service from the bar tender. Wide variety of beers and it’s great to see stouts on tap in late spring! If you like craft beer it’s worth the stop.

This is a laid-back restaurant with a varied menu, an excellent on-tap beer selection and cocktails and specialty drinks.The food is tasty. As a vegatarian, I appreciate that you can replace any burger from the menu with a plant-based option. The menu can and has changed. My last visit I got a salad and I asked for no onions, but the chopped onions were throughout the salad (it was miserable picking them out), so if you don't like onions and order a salad, I recommend making sure they won't bring a salad littered with onions.

Your staff didn’t know it, but they were pivotal in making a very important night extra special. My boyfriend and I wanted to make my dog’s last meal extra special. We had to let her go due to a medical issue. We ordered our drinks and a dog bowl of water came out on the same tray. So sweet. We were the only ones on the patio, but our waitress came frequently to check on us. We ordered her a bowl of brisket and she absolutely loved it (picture attached). Thank you so much for making us feel welcomed. We will never forget it.

Table sitting was family style/picnic style. They also had the option of individual tables but I don’t think they had many of them. Overall the experience was great. Parking was meter/street parking. I don’t remember seeing a parking lot. It was all just downtown. Service was great and really accommodating and so was the atmosphere. The bathrooms were so clean. They had some merch and you could buy a six pack of the beers you liked best to take home. Now for food, my boyfriend and I started with cheese curds and pretzel bites. The cheese curbs were square blocks and served with a raspberry sauce. That was unique and pretty good. It reminded me of cheese and fruit. So good. And the pretzel bites were warm and soft on the inside, I will say I didn’t like how much butter was put on them. It was a lot of butter but the cheese sauce served with them was also really good. The main course we split a YellowStone burger and it was really good. The brisket on it was solid and the burger meat well seasoned not overcooked and a good size. It wasn’t a monster burger. We had ours with regular fries, which weren’t house made but still good and a very large portion. Dessert we had a Carmel brownie cheesecake and it was just okay. It was dense, sweet, very rich. I probably wouldn’t get it again.

A great brewery with awesome food and even better beer. I had the pulled pork sandwich and a flight of local brews. The vibe is industrial, modern, and fun — perfect for groups or casual hangouts. They also host trivia nights and events. Highly recommend!

We were in town and stopped in for dinner and it was delicious! We ordered the fried pickles and we both had different smashed burgers. Everything was so good! Our server was very attentive and friendly. We had a great experience and will definitely be back when we are in town!

From the moment I approached this place, I knew I had to try it. I was excited to see what they had in store. I came here with my significant other. We were able to choose our table, so that was cool. The atmosphere was quiet and gentle. The Food & Drink Menu was at the table. It stated to Please Make Your Choice And Order At The Bar. We walked to the bar. I started off with the Jubeck Blonde. It was a Crisp, medium-bodied, golden, mild, easy-drinking American cream ale. It was $6. From the Classic Pizzas section, we ordered a Small 9” • $10 Pepperoni. It had tomato sauce, mozzarella & parmesan. From the Specialty Pizzas section, we ordered a Small 9” Carbonara. It had Alfredo sauce, mozzarella, parmesan, grilled chicken, bacon, roasted mushrooms. It was S-$15. We gave a card to open a tab. I took the Jubeck Blonde back to our table and gave it a try. It sure was crispy and a good drink to steadily sip. Speaking of crispy, the pizzas came out fast. I started with the Pepperoni. It was so good I could hardly stop. The amount of meat on the pizza sure was generous. Well, that one was going to be hard to beat, or so I thought. The Carbonara had such a precise flavor from the ingredients all masterfully blending together. I knocked out most of that pizza. Well, I got thirsty, so I went up to order the Mango Sour Guava. It was a Sour ale brewed w/ mango & guava. Fruity w/ tart & crisp finish. It was $6. I enjoyed it highly and it paired nicely with the pizzas. I went back up to order the Barnstormin’ Ale. It was a Hazy American pale ale w/ citra hops. It was $6. I thought it was smooth, especially with the citra hops flavor. The drink disappeared pretty fast. The last one I went up to order was the Lavender Honey Wheat. It was an Herbal, medium-bodied, sweet, easy drinking, aroma rich. It was $6. This one definitely had a different taste than the others. I liked it in a quirky way and it was the best one to finish off my session. The service was prompt and friendly. We were shown around in the back to see how things were done and where the front used to be. That was a cool bonus! I didn’t have any service issues. Overall, I had a great experience here. It’s a bummer this place was in Iowa, because I would probably go often. Date of visit: 08/23/2024

I've been by several times and become a member. Great beer, a little less expensive and a good bit more peaceful and calm than others. It has a very relaxed vibe and is clean and comfortable. I like it's just off the strip location and the staff is very cool. You should try it !!!

The space has a relaxed vibe with cool flight-themed decor, lots of plants, and a solid vinyl collection always spinning - a perfectly cozy spot to enjoy a great local beer (or kombucha if beer's not your thing). Occasional live music adds a great touch, and the pizza hits the mark. With it being located just off of Main Street, it's the perfect spot to head for after-dinner drinks. Definitely worth a stop.

My twin sister and I went here for our birthday just on a whim. We had a reservation for a restaurant in Galena and decided to cancel that reservation and stay at the brewery. The bartender was wonderful and the beer was really good. We had a pizza that was out of this world. Will definitely be back

My wife and I's favorite brewery to visit in Dubuque. It has been a few years since we had been in and we loved the new extended space! We did not get any food, but the pizzas that were coming out looked great. There's a good variety of beers on tap as well. We love that they play vinyl behind the bar. The bartenders are really on top of flipping the records too. Can't wait to come back!

Pleasantly surprised by this gem on the river. Creole flavor was slightly different than what I'm used to, but in a good way. The food was excellent, and there were plenty of options to choose from. The kids loved the shrimp and we tried the gumbo and the jambalaya which were drastically different flavors, but both good. The rice was slightly overcooked and mushy though. Our service was good and the place was clean inside and out. No wait (eating lunch around 2pm) and had a great seat out in the patio.

Had the nicest/most attentive server on Saturday with a great/peaceful view of the water. The shrimp 🍤 was outta this world amazing as was the hot chicken, pulled pork and green 🫒 burger! Large mason drinks 🍹 were delicious as well. Food came out hot and in a timely manner. Overall 10/10.

I really enjoyed eating my meal on the patio at Catfish Charlie’s. My fried shrimp was especially good and so were the three cheese smashed potatoes. The wait staff were all very friendly and our food came out faster than I expected. The restaurant and bathroom were very clean, there was no fishy smell. This is a great seafood restaurant in the area.

This restaurant is on the water near the Hilton Hotel. It is a lovely seafood spot. Luckily, I had a table outside on a Sunday afternoon. They have a bar and drink menu. Dinner & lunch menu was full of options. Fried seafood obviously and bbq items. Mix of sandwiches and entrees. Food was good as well as the service. Nice patio area to view the dock. Have Window seating

Great location, good seating, great service, and excellent food! We had a very large order of onion rings. Also, we had the bluegill, catfish, and salmon at our table. All were very delicious.

EXCELLENT food, however, I felt the regular mac n cheese didn't have a lot of flavor to it. The smashed potatoes were FIRE and the blue gill. ribs and shrimp were spectacular!

Went out for my 21st birthday and let me say it was good.. casino overall was good and Leo was absolutely amazing!!! Very personable and very respectful but whoever the manager was on shift frank I believe. My best friend took me to the pit and he wasn’t doing anything and said hey they will make you a players card but then the guy looks at us and laughed and goes “go to the machine right over there 20 feet” and just kinda put a small sour taste in my mouth.. but overall middle experience but kudos to Leo he was great. Promote that man!

Very hard to find a machine here that actually keeps you interested. Very Smokey atmosphere.. can’t believe how many people are just chugging away at cigarettes. They need to have a little better ventilation system . Waitresses are non existent . Had to get my own drinks every time and leave the machine. The roulette table was closed all 3 days I went .

Built in the 1990s, this casino has had 6 renovations since. The most recent added even more family oriented activities, VIA an arcade and entertainment room for the kiddos and the tots, to the well structured complex. The gaming room is modestly sized, comparatively speaking, but does not disappoint. The decor dazzles and the table games are spaced apart just right. You won't fin many, if any, outdated gaming machines in this fine, reputable establishment. 4 star rating due to the poker room leaving the complex when at-work work returned after the COVID-19 remote work break. Truly a visually compelling piece of design, with time-tested architectural elements incorporated to the exterior. There was a new building being built, speculation says a premium 5 story hotel? All things said, the people behind Q do not mess around.

We were hungry so we headed to the restzurant next to the video/gaming area. A pizza sounded safe. Barbecue chicken with crunchy onions spunded like a tasty dinner. We wete so wrong. After a 30 minute wait our pizza arrived. We wete shocked! It was compldtely covered with those Durkee canned cfunchy onions! You could not see anything underneath the onions. We were very hungry so we started brushing off those onions. They came off by the handful! We filled a plate with all of those onions. Then we took a bite and foud the crust, thesauce and "chicken" bits to have no flavor. Neitber of us could eat it. Weve ordered bbq chicken pizzas many times at other restaurants. We like bbq pizza alot! This was awful in every way! The waitress just said "yeah, thats alot of onions". It was not her fault! We wdre not upset just couldnt believe anyone sould serve an ONION PIZZA and claim its a bbq chicken with onions. We asked for a manager. He was not apologetic at all! He said simply "Thats how we make it here" He only gave us twelve dollars back off our bill. We were not rude or unkind to him. Why didnt he take the whole pizza off our bill? Why didnt he offer other food from the menu? We had only eaten 1 small unpleasant piece each and we were quite hungry! We felt like arguing with him but said nothing at all. We took our 12 dollar refund and left immediately. We ate down the road at Wendys.. Wendys was delicious! We will never return to Q for food! Be warned about the ONION PIZZA calling itself a Barbecue chicken pizza with onions. And very poor management.!!!

Island Social is a Hit! The casino finally is catering to the under 21 crowd and as a parent of three we are thrilled to have somewhere else to go as a family. Island Social has a ton of ticket arcade games, claw machines, virtual axe throwing, and duck pin bowling. They also offer random deals throughout the week (like bogo game play or half off bowling etc) plus they have so many reasonably ticketed prizes for you to choose from. My kids are in heaven here and are already asking to have birthday parties here as well. The food is also good. We have had the wings and Mac and cheese and both were decent but a little too rich in flavor to finish. The Mac and cheese could certainly be shared. Kids meals are $9.00 which is steep in my opinion but you get a decent portion of food and an ice cream cup. Two of my boys easily share one order of the kids chicken strips. Go check out this local little spin on a Dave and Busters!

Visited Q Casino last night and had a great time! The place is clean, the staff is friendly, and there’s a good mix of newer slots and old favorites. I even wandered over to the table games for a bit - fun energy without feeling overwhelming. The sportsbook area was impressive with tons of screens, and grabbing a bite at Island Social was a nice bonus (good food, not crazy prices). It’s not trying to be Vegas, just a relaxed, fun night out with plenty to do all in one spot.

Went here on Saturday night. Read reviews about the amount of smoke and smell. It wasn't too bad. Not enough to keep from visiting and gambling. Nice place to visit and do something different.

We were traveling and this was close to the hotel. So, proximity was a factor. Service was REALLY slow. Waiting to be seated, waiting to order, waiting for product, all of it took a while. Maybe longer. My salad was ok. Not great. But. Pretty good. Leslie had a club sandwich that she couldn’t eat. She asked for no mayo, but it had a lot of something similar. Usually a club is on toast. This was grilled and soggy. Our server was polite and worked hard at figuring out whether or not they had the beverage I wanted. All in all, if I pass again through Dubuque, I’ll eat elsewhere.

So we came here at 9:32 for some late night bites the place is basically empty. The host tells me we can’t be served here because she only has 3 kitchen staff members tonight. I’m here for my daughter’s birthday party of 5 people actually, Another group of 5 people came in and Hannah was quite quick and pleasant to seat that group. Now we are familiar with Barrel House due to the one in Bettendorf we frequent too. The racism and rudeness at this location is beyond disappointing and disgusting. This is where my daughter wanted to dine at an I refused to be bullied due to the color of my skin. Both my daughters are mixed

For a Thursday evening in mid-May, it was surprisingly loud and busy; we just managed to get a table. This gave us hope for a successful restaurant visit. Unfortunately, this hope was not fulfilled. The food was a culinary disaster across the board. The fried pickles starter tasted of batter, but not pickles. The Swiss Mushroom Burger was not a visual feast and tasted extremely burnt. The beer selection was okay, but the 15-minute wait for the first drink was not. And to top it all off, the mobile payment terminal didn't work, neither with debit nor credit card. All in all, we were disappointed.

A nice American grill complete with various beers from Iowa. The burgers were good. A bit of flavor and juiciness with a tad of charing. Kids burgers were very large and filling. The french fries were perfectly fried and salted. The best item we had are the wings. Super flavorful barbeque sauce and large portions. The beer selection is quite large and offer many from Iowa. The offer a flight to try out if unsure about ordering larger sizes like a pint. I only noticed indoor seating. Music and t.v.'s play in the background. Good location for hangout with friends. The restrooms during our visit my have needed a bit of attention. Our server was kind and welcoming.

Really enjoyed the food here. Got the Lobster dip and burgers. I got the Carolina burger and the pulled pork on top the burger was very very good 👍🏻

The staff is great! The food came out fast. There's free trivia. I ordered the pulled Blackstone Rueben and it was made to perfection. The marbled rye was toasted but not burnt, the cheese was gooey, and the meat was plentiful in portion size. I order the pickled cucumber and onions for the side and the flavors were spot on. I travel to Dubuque regularly and cant wait to try the other offerings.

Food is great! The wait staff has been great except once when I first went there I asked the waitress about food for my son with food allergies. She said she didn't feel comfortable making the decision about what was in the food. I asked her to ask the cook. She did and came back and said she still didn't feel comfortable. I asked to speak to the cook and she said he didn't speak very good English. It's hard to believe there are still some restaurants that can't identify what is in their food. But, on future visits, we got it sorted with other wait staff and now we go there frequently. Great food, clean place, good drink choices, quiet if you go on the non-bar side.

Very tasty! Ordered a mushroom burger and a Big Groove amber. Perfect!! Best fries ever and unlike any I have ever had. Curly but thick and well seasoned.

Awesome food and atmosphere. Comfortable chairs and plenty of elbow room. We ate around 6 and the service was spot on. Our waitress Kori was awesome. Our drinks were always full and the appetizers and food came quickly. Be sure to get some of the mozzarella bite appetizers they fall apart in your mouth they are so good. We had a variety of plates at our table and everything was delicious.

Visiting from out of town and we walked by the bar and the smell of the food attracted us in. The food was so good. Fresh to order so it did take a bit to get out to us but we didn’t mind the wait. Service was great, our bartender was so nice! 10/10 would eat here again.

When 1st and Main hits on all cylinders, it’s one of the best spots in Dubuque to eat, however they are not consistent. That being said, the mango habanero chicken flatbread is one of my favorite bites to eat in Dubuque! The sidewinders fries (I prefer the garlic Parmesan option) are also great. Service tends to be the most spotty here: my partner and myself have had a excellent service, and we’ve had instances where our server is just sitting on their phone at the end of the bar near the kitchen. We’ve also had servers that went above and beyond to accommodate us for a birthday as well. Always an option in Dubuque that’s worth a fair shake!

Absolutely amazing burgers I’m a burger girl and I have never in my life had such amazing burgers!! We had the Western burger and the big Wisconsin burger!! The root beer bourbon bbq sauce is amazing they make all their sauces in house! The fires were also delicious!!! The staff and bartender were absolutely fantastic as well big shout out to Nate!! He gave us a tour of the building and gave us an amazing experience here at 1st and main!!! If ever in the area I would 1,000 times make this a must stop to enjoy and eat here!!! Will definitely be making a trip back soon hopefully the owner gets word that we need this place in Ohio so my burger loving self doesn’t have to make so many trips to eat these amazing burgers!!!!

First, the good. The food tasted great. However we waited 10 minutes for water...then another 20 minutes for someone to take a drink and appetizer order. Appetizers came but we had no plates napkins or silverware. She took our meal order and never came back with plates until the appetizers and drinks were gone. Half the meals arrived ( we were a group of 7) still no table service or napkins. My dad had to get up from the table and go retrieve seven sets of silverware from behind the bar and nobody seemed to notice. Then the other half of our meals came. Like, I said, everything tasted good, but we were in there for 2 hours. Most of the time just waiting. They were not what I would call busy either. To get the check half of our party had to get up and leave. My husband and I stood at the table. When the check came they had added 37.20 for gratuity automatically....I guess because there was 7 of us. As bad as I felt for the waitress....who appeared to be working basically alone, I could not bring myself to add an additional tip.

Food was good, they messed up my BMW Roll order and at first it seemed like there was going to be an issue with them fixing it. But they made it right. Dinged them on service only because the waiter did not stay on top of my drinks and he was not busy. As for atmosphere, the staff behind the sushi bar could have been friendlier. I will be back.

Sushi was excellent! I sat at the bar and got two rolls and they were amazing. Fish and vegetables tasted super fresh and service was fast and friendly. I highly recommend if you are looking for good food and a great atmosphere!

Love coming here for lunch for work when in town. Always super quick and attentive service. Does a really nice job and you can easily squeeze in and out to fulfill a 1 hr lunch break. Go to is the hibachi lunch. I recently stopped for dinner and the sushi is very good as well, this takes longer (as it should) and I’ve never been disappointed.

Usually love sushi here. But today I found dehydrated lemon slice buried under sashimi pieces. Hopefully I don’t get sick mysteriously.

This used to be a decent, Midwest sushi spot. However, since the new addition/Covid, it has not been the same. The decor is gorgeous and the staff so attentive, but, and a big but at that, the food is just bad. We have tried at least 8 times since the new addition, shame on us, and the highest possible rating I could give is 2.5. Today, our final attempt, we avoided sushi completely. We ordered veggie dishes to eliminate the chance of the meat/fish tasting off (again), but still we were shockingly disappointed. The dishes had the distinct taste of the way insecticide smells 🤢. So, while I’m happy they maintain a pest free environment, we will not try again 😢

The sushi chef is wonderful and makes beautiful, delicious food! Sushi at most resteraunts is hit or miss but I have not had anything bad from the sushi bar here. Quick and great food!

Dubuque Mining Company is located in Kennedy Mall. Service was prompt and friendly. Evidently they specialize in a gourmet hamburger, which I did not try, I had read rave reviews about the tenderloin, which was very good, not excellent, but very good. Nice thickness and perfectly fried, just not much flavor. I cut it in half and will have enough for lunch tomorrow. I substituted creamy cole slaw for the fries. It was excellent. I ordered an Arnold Palmer (half lemonade and half ice tea). It was served in a quart canning jar. It was great and I was given a to go cup, because I couldn't finish it. I enjoyed lunch and will stop back to try the hamburger. I felt my meal was reasonably priced, at $18. plus change and a tip.

**Review of Minimg Company in Dubuque, Iowa** We visited the Minimg Company on a busy Friday night around 6:00 pm. Despite the crowd, we managed to find a table quickly in their seat-yourself setup. My wife enjoyed their signature drink, the Cave, served in a quart mason jar, which was as delicious as ever. I stuck with water. For dinner, I ordered the pork tenderloin and fries, while my wife opted for their famous burger. Her burger was juicy and cooked to perfection. My tenderloin was slightly overcooked, but I prefer that to it being underdone. Overall, we had a pleasant meal. The total came to a reasonable $37, including the drink. We'll definitely be back!

They have the famous Iowa fried pork tenderloin sandwich. Lots of good options on the menu, but I always land on this. Service and parking are both good. Lots of good local beer on tap.

Great food, clean restaurant. Everyone was helping each other out, don’t see that the often today. Only complaint was it took a very long time to get food, place wasn’t that busy. Waitresses were working hard and not overwhelmed, anther thing that you don’t see today. I think there kitchen is a little small for the restaurant size, did have a sign looking for kitchen help..Portions were good, burger could have been a bit bigger for size of bun. But with the amount of fries it was plentiful. Tasted fresh, drink were large and plenty of refills..

Atmosphere was nice. I like decorations Food was little bland. No season on fries. BBQ Sauce helped tenderloin. I asked for bacon added they were skimpy on bacon didn't even taste the bacon it was so small.

I've been here several times over the years growing up in Dubuque. Coming back into town it's a nice local spot to return to. I changed it up and got the Large Fish Sandwich with fries and it was both filling and tasty. Even better was the fact I got a free draft beer with my meal, so I'm all in on that deal. The service was good and we were served promptly and respectfully. 5 stars from me!

We got the prime rib and half rack of ribs for takeout. Both were phenomenal. My husband was actually disappointed he didn’t get a full rack because they were so good he wanted more! Prime rib was perfectly done and delicious. All the staff from ordering to pick up were extremely friendly. I highly recommend!

The food was awesome. My sister & I had prime rib & my mom & daughter had homemade hand breaded tenderloins. Food was great & very reasonably priced, will go back for sure. The only disappointment was the salad bar, it needs more like tomatoes, eggs, bacon bits, etc

My experience at Buddy's Clubhouse begins by asking the people living next to our Airbnb for a recommendation of their favorite restaurant. They talked amongst themselves and settled on Buddy's. We looked up the Google listing and decided to give it a try. It even had some Dubuque favorites. They mentioned that it was a dinner club, which didn't mean much to me, but seemed different from a restaurant somehow. When we arrived, we weren't sure that we came in the front door. It opens directly into a packed bar and a large number of middle-aged, white people looked at our rather differently appearing group of 4 strangers who were clearly not local. We were immediately greeted by friendly people and welcomed into the crowded space. It's very basic and simple with budget furnishings that you would expect in a thriving local bar with an attached eating area. The older white waiter was very friendly, though he was new and not very familiar with the menu. The food was decent quality, not really great or even very good, but it seemed reasonably well cooked and decent. The prime rib was not top quality meat by any measure, but it was certainly edible and reasonably priced. We felt really good about having tried this restaurant to get an authentic local Dubuque experience. We definitely do not plan to return, as our standards are a bit higher than what is offered here. By the way, the 2, count 'em, 2 trains that periodically run around the ceiling are a delight. We also learned that Buddy is no longer with us, but that his son, Steve, is the bartender and Buddy's widow continues to own the place. Here's to Buddy! I had a good gin and tonic at your Clubhouse and appreciate the chance to enjoy your work.

Very good food! Most of us had steak. Very friendly, great staff. Waited a few extra minutes to get our table, but really nice bartender bought our drinks. Now that was awesome! Will go back again.

My buddy and I are huge supper club fans, we grew up in Wisconsin :) There are a few critical boxes that need to checked off for approval. Someone who knows how to cook a steak, the option of a baked potato in its simplest form, iceberg lettuce side-salad (extra points for salad bar), & affordable stiff drinks. While traveling through Dubuque we came across Buddy’s. This place had it all, at top level. Everything was delicious and a super friendly staff to boot. Our waiter took great care of us & kept fantastic communication.

It was a difficult to find place, and the parking was limited. Once inside, we had to wait a few minutes to be seated. But the food was awesome for it being a small, simple place. I had the New York Strip steak and baked potato and it was very good. The meal also came with soup and salad. A nice touch was the train display all along the ceiling which actually worked! It was fun to watch it travel around the whole restaurant. If you can get past the size and simplicity of the atmosphere, its a good place to eat.

7/13/24 Came here today for lun ch and my fiance had pizza and I had calzone. Food was fantastic and the atmosphere was cool. Our server Austin seemed like he did not want to be here. We were not done with our food and just walked up and said let me get me your bill. I wanted desert but were never asked. He seemed very distracted. Our 1015th review. Thank you

My husband and I went here while we were in town celebrating his bday and the food was amazing! Would’ve been 5 stars but, I kept getting cups that was dirty. Otherwise, it was a pretty cool place

The food was pretty good, but was very greasy. They brought out our appetizers pretty quickly, but my husband's entree didn't come out for about 20 minutes later. He got the fish and chips but the fish was about the same as frozen fish from the grocery store. The staff was nice, but we had to ask for plates, napkins, and to-go boxes. Our server only checked on us once. In my opinion it was not worth the price. I probably won't go back.

I went in for the brownie dessert and was so disappointed. It was so dry and had more like a heavy spongy texture. Thought maybe just the outside was dry but every bite was like that. The ice cream couldn’t even help it.

TERRIBLE! We should've walked right back out once we saw the lack of customers at noon on a Sunday. Trash littered the floors, the pictures on the walls were splashed with old food. The waitress was fine, a little socially awkward, but she tried. She walked up to our table to take our order, but then started a conversation with another employee to discuss what items they do and do not have available. Then proceeded to discuss how they're always out of things and so on. The food, especially the pizza, was horrendous! We spent $75 on two personal pizzas and 2 kids meals. After paying we noticed we were over-charged for items, but at this point we couldn't get out the door fast enough. There are plenty of much better pizza joints in Dubuque. Save your taste buds from the disappointment, and save your money. This was our first and last visit to Old Chicago.

I normally enjoy an Old Chicago from time to time. My experience here was horrible. We had 12 people in our party, we called ahead to confirm availability. When we arrived we were seated right away as the place was almost empty. I believe about 3 or tables or about 14 other poeple being served. Long story short. 2.5 hours later 2 of us never received our food. At least I got my appetizer which I pay for for and left. 2.5 hours and never once did our table see a manager. The manager just left the server to handle the situation, which didn't end well.

This place should be good but clearly whoever is running the place has no idea what they are doing. I ordered a wrap that came to me torn open. We also ordered nachos that came to us with no meat (even though the menu description listed ground beef), and a very small amount of beans. The best part is that the cup of salsa that came with it was actually marinara sauce. The excuse was that they were out of salsa. Ah... so marinara was what you came up with. Genius. Now let's get to the service. The first server we had would just fly by put things in front of you and walk away as quickly as possible. Clearly he knew everything he was giving us was crap. Then he just brought us the check without even asking if we wanted anything else. The second server couldn't remember anything we asked for. Well at least she would come back and check on us. Both times we went it wasn't very busy the place is just run poorly. Oh and if you get a beer there make sure you get a bottle. The beer from the tap taste awful.

Big menu. Decent food, decent prices. They are short staffed so be understanding about the service. Customers are to order food and drinks at the bar. Outside patio is large and very well done. Pizza was very good. Menu items pictured is a half & half of pepperoni and Supreme. The other menu item is half Taco and half Canadian bacon and Kraut.

Each time we give Town Clock a chance we are always reminded why this isn’t our go to. The customer service at this restaurant is unfortunately subpar. You feel as though you’re an inconvenience coming to spend money in their establishment. The pizza is wonderful if you can look beyond the lack of care for the customer.

We ordered a keto pizza. It’s available with olive oil or sauce. Sat outside. Large overhang so no sunset in your eyes. Well marked self serve. You order drinks and food at bar then they bring food to your table. Ordered 2 side salads. Very ample side salad with great seasoning on croutons and lots of cheese. We trashed our keto experience by ordering beer though. Many beers on tap. Wine selection appears to only be those little bottles. Will come for pizza, salad and a beer again. Two of us ate it all

The remodeled restaurant over in peosta is really nice. Pizza was good, not my favorite but still good. I'm not a fan of the ordering style where you have to stand up and wait in line to order both food and drinks, then go back to your seat and wait, definitely not ideal when taking a toddler to dinner. Hopefully they figure that out because the atmosphere is great and there's a really good view of farmland from the outdoor seating.

Love they view from here, and being on the water is nice. Large space and tables are not on top of you. However, the food is basic bar food, and while not horrible, it isn't anything special. The cheese curds were served with a raspberry sauce, which seemed out of place but tasted okay. The chicken in the wraps, while plentiful, was dry. Fries were good, and beer options were good. Drink choices seemed nice, but they didn't taste like much alcohol was in them.

Beautiful riverfront location with lots of parking and great food. Service was slow on a Wednesday night. Cheese curds were delicious! I had the pulled pork tacos - very good. Hubby said the fish tacos were great.

Have eaten at the Yardarm Riverfront restaurant 3-4 times with my wife, son and his wife when we visit him in Dubuque. All of our meals have been great! Love the cheese curds, their fries, burgers and wraps. Like the outdoor seating next to the boat launching area and the Mississippi River. Very relaxing. Good service.

Great food! Stopped on our way to Wisconsin dells on vacation. Fun to sit outside on deck near the water to eat. When we were there they had live music which was fun to listen to.

Almost $30 with tip for stomach problems. Deep fried cheese curds and cod on an oily bread. While I respect people having their local cuisine, the food is not good if I end up taking medicine after eating. Portion is very small. Too pricey for the quality and quantity you are getting.

Despite paying generous tip "in cash" to the bartender. They added extra charge on my credit card next day. The owner needs to pay them good so they don't treat the customers like that.

My experience was less than ideal. I understand that a Saturday night can be very crazy and that staffing is difficult. However there are only a few tables in the place. We asked the bartender if we could sit in the open table. He confirmed with the waitress that would be fine. The bartender gave us our drinks and we went to the table. The waitress walked by us multiple times in the 30 minutes that we waited at the front table. Did not ever acknowledge that we were sitting there. Not even a "I will be right with you!" As a former server, you at least make eye contact and acknowledge when walking past. People at the bar that came in after us had their order taken and we didn't get so much as a Hi!.We left money on the table that hopefully covered our drinks and left because we couldn't even get the attention to pay for them. Only positive was the music was great while we were sitting there!

This is neat looking bar with a western style. We stopped in to watch the Packer game on our way through. They have 5 large TVs over the bar making it great for watching sports. The bathrooms were clean and the food was good. I had the Reuben which could have used more kraut and dressing, but was good regardless. The beer was good as well and they have a decent selection. The reason I couldn't give 5 stars is due to the fact that I am a beer drinker that prefers draft beer. They do not have any taps. Other than that, I would definitely recommend this venue.

I've been here a bunch whenever I visit Dubuque. I always run into some old friends and acquaintances and the venue is always good for live music and drinks. The darts board is located in a fun spot too. 5 stars from me!

First time at The Lift yesterday, had heard great things, and it didn't disappoint. My band played last night, and from the time we walked in, until we left - we were impressed by the owner and staff. There are two main areas: bar side with pool table/jukebox/etc., and the live music area (plus a bar and pinball machines in the back). It was almost like two separate bars, but there were wide openings connecting them together. Great beer selection, free popcorn, friendly vibe. The sound/mix was excellent - not too loud, but you could still feel the energy. Highly recommended for a quick drink or an evening there. Also, there's a great Italian restaurant above that you can take food to-go and eat downstairs at the bar.

This is a hidden gem located below Vinnys Little Italy. It gives you the vibe of the old prohibition bars. The bartender (didn't get his name) was a wealth of info and a great conversationalist.

We were on vacation looking for a place to watch the Cubs game and found Jumpers. It is a very comfortable, welcoming place to have dinner and watch a game. Sam and Leah were very friendly and attentive. The portions are very large so be sure to bring your appetite.

So, enter the bar/restaurant, there is a sign that says seat yourself and grab a menu from the bar. It's unclear, however, if you go to the bar and order or if someone comes to the table. (Hint: you got up to the bar) My hubby and I are from Southern WI, so we had no idea. Lol We asked one of the locals close to us. The staff was really nice though. You go up to get your own food when the beeper goes off. It's a clean, and relaxed sports bar, withs everal dart boards in the back. It's really cute actually!! I'm super glad we stopped too, because the food alone is worth the trip we made to Iowa!!!! YUM! We will definitely revisit when driving through again! My hubby got the regular Carmichael and I got the Western. They were to DIE FOR!!!!! They were fairly big. As I told my husband: I don't necessarily wish it was bigger, but I wish my sandwich lasted longer 😆

Then bring more people back with you. The drinks are fun and tasty, plus it has a great wine selection. It's a great spot to linger for a while. Bonus: purse hooks and outlets to charge your phone right under the bar! The owner thought of the little things and really put her own touch into the bar. It's got a good vibe.

Such a cozy and inviting little place, with some great live music and drink selection. We’ve been here twice from out of town and it’s now a must stop for us. The first time was right after we got engaged, and the owner introduced herself to us and gave us some bubbly to celebrate. We came back about a year later, and she remembered us and asked how our wedding planning was going. We always talk about how we want to come back when we visit again.

What a hidden gem! We are so happy we stopped by. The extensive, creative and fun menu was amazing! Both beverages I got were delicious. Will definitely be back!

This is such an amazing place! This should be the first place you come for drinks in Dubuque. This establishment is owned and operated by some wonderful people. They are quick to offer recommendations from their extensive wine, liquor and beer selections. Almost all of the wine options can be purchased as bottles to go if you need to have a second taste. The charcuterie board is well-conceived with a delicious assortment of cheeses, meats and accoutrements. We passed a lovely hour and a half here and can’t wait to come back.

Great service. The cocktails were cute and named after women; Marilyn Monroe, RBG, Frida.

They don't serve food. But live the people there. They are all so friendly and the prices are really good. An They always have deals going on.

Bartender Joy was extremely RUDE , was charged 21.00 for a double shot … 10.00?? For the use of a rocks glass?? We were LITERALLY thrown out of the bar for asking why the drink was so high. There were 4 or maybe 5 other people in there at 9:30 on a Friday. I have tried multiple times and ways to speak to management but to no avail . I have never been treated so offensively… ever

Went here with a party of 15 working adults on Saturday night. The crowd is definitely college aged kids. That was fine, we were celebrating a wedding. 2 of us waited for someone to even acknowledge us for OVER 10 minutes at the bar. After we got our drinks, we tried again... another 7 minutes before the bar tender approached. When we decided we would rather go somewhere that actually wanted our money (we were in the drinking mood spending lots of $$) I waited for 5 minutes to close my tab. After no one approached me, I literally decided to say screw it and just leave my cc there, take the 20% tip, and cancel my card and get a new one. My time that night was more valuable than that. Will not be back.

Well.... It's a great club. Just too small of a venue. Waitresses were really really slow and avoiding eye contact at all costs. Out of draft and tap beers... Waited 45 minutes for a water. I might go back again but I'd go strictly to dance... dont waste time on attempting to get a beverage.

This place allow young people 18 years old to come drink and act a complete fool, obviously they don’t check for I.D. I’m very angry because you allow stuff like this then when something tragic happens you want to defend the business. This place need to be closed for good. Liquor license need be be revoked. Bars need to be open to people 25 and up.

The bouncer decides to be intimidating to me cause I called him out for standing at the end of the bar NOT doing his job. I walk in and DON'T get ID, Walked up to my friends and stood there for a solid 5min then he decides to walk up to me an asked me for my ID. I gladly show him my ID with no problem, then in a angry tone tells me to take my ID out of my wallet. Ok no big deal gotta check to see if it's real. Then he continues to say I don't appreciate you posting that photo that you posted (him standing at the end of the bar NOT doing his job) that is some great customer service. The bartenders an DJ really nice people. Bouncer needs to learn about customer service an NOT come up to PAYING customers about leaving a bad review. Instead learn on it for next time. The bartenders and DJ real friendly people but the bouncer needs to learn not to intimidate a paying customer.

A beautiful theatrical space that puts on fantastic shows! The team running this organization is very community driven and you can tell they really care about their patrons!

The Grand Opera House is an absolute gem. The building itself is stunning, with beautiful architectural details that make you feel like you’ve stepped into something truly special. The staff was warm, welcoming, and helpful from the moment we walked in. We saw Footloose and had such a great time. The energy from the cast was infectious, and the performances were full of heart. The sound and lighting were spot on, and the whole production was incredibly well done. You could tell a lot of care went into every part of the show. We’re already looking forward to coming back.

This is a very talented group. I've watched several plays here throughout the years. Its a great intimate venue, with current props and casts. Some of the same actors/actresses in plays and its really great to see their range. Concessions with modest prices. Clean restrooms, and great shows. Free parking half hour before shows across the street. Enjoy the night, and buy the season passes!!

Fun bar area with duck pin bowling, pool tables, shuffleboard and a big arcade in the basement. Connected to another place so there are food options available. Went with another family and had a great time. Ordered three different flavors of wings, a bit pricey at almost $2/per..sauce was tasty but the wings could've been crispier. Great beer options!

We had our staff Christmas party at Backpocket this year. It was a great choice to say the least. Food options were great and very well priced plus super delicious. We picked the small event room which was right off the main area which fit our team perfectly. The staff got to play duckpin bowling which was a huge hit! We will definitely keep them in mind for any upcoming gatherings for sure!

Our baseball team from Wisconsin went here for dinner and evening hangout. Very fun atmosphere, offers a lot for both kids and adults to do, great staff, and great food. I highly recommend this place! Mike also went above and beyond when we discovered three weeks after being home that my little guy left his phone there (an ancient phone only used for wifi). Mike kindly paid for the phone to be sent back to us in Wisconsin. We are so thankful! There really are good people out there in the world!

Had a great time at this place. Love the fact the pool and shuffle board are free. Loved the beers, and we all loved the arcade. Got food here, food was fine. Venue is amazing, done well with it. Caters to a wide audience which can be both good and bad depending on what type of night you want. Only thing that didnt really sit well was I ordered the food and got a buzzer and a map of where to collect it, it wasnt brought to table, fair enough. However i had a tab going and when it was closed out it asked for a tip starting at 18%, fair enough, however i did have to get the food myself so i didnt really feel that this was earned just for pouring drinks and punching the order intot he screen.

This is probably my favorite little bar in Iowa. One of those places that really reminds you what a local watering hole is supposed to be. Covered floor to ceiling in the coolest, most random memorabilia and general nonsense, there's never lack of something new to discover while nursing quite the impressive selection of beverages. Pool table, check. Outside patio, check. Miniature swing the ring on the hook game (if anyone knows what that's called, let me know!), check. And to top it all off, the staff is amazing. Like, really amazing, not just good.

This is my kind of place. Maybe TOO my kind of place, which worries me! Lots to read and look at on the walls, nice outdoor area for summer. I wish we had more time in Dubuque, I would definitely make it here quite often. Friendly service.

Not a bad little place. Lots of cool decor however the real cool factor is definitely the bartenders over there. All the bartenders -James, Shaina, Aaron, & Jonathon are all really cool ( hope I spelled everyone's name right ) I recommend the Swamp Water or whatever shot James recommends.

Very eccentric. All kinds of unique wall hangings. Masks and hats hanging from the roof behind the bar. Cool t-shirts for sale. The only thing I didn't like was that the area around the bar is very very small. If your friend is sitting at the bar and you are standing behind them but someone needs to walk by. You pretty much have to scoot as close as you can to said friend for them to walk by. Other than that it was a fantastic place.

The best karaoke, not just in town but in the area. Friendly atmosphere. Good drink menu an they have burgers, fries and pizzas. Large establishment so very seldom does it get overcrowded. Bean bags, darts and pool. On the mane strip so if traveling through Dubuque check it out, or miss out.

This was our first time here and it was absolutely a blast! Friendly and good bartender and Kasey(Casey?) the karaoke DJ was so fun. I didn't know what to sing so she played songs for me based off who she thought I'd sound good as and it worked perfectly! The atmosphere was comfortable and fun, we'll be coming back for sure!

Love this place! Courtney knows me by name every time I go in there and she's an awesome bartender! She's the main reason we go here. Glad they got rid of that Tiffany that worked there. She was one of the rudest people ever....no tip for her.

Northside seems to've continually adapted to accommodate their guests since the first time I've visited. New restrooms, and a nice outfit seating area with firepit... Overall a nice little Dubuque bar featuring some neat, historic architecture.

If a person is looking for something unique with friendly people it's right here. Music by known bands with room to enjoy yourself inside or out. I think of it as a feel good bar, lot of conversation and smiles.

Me and a co worker were talking how we have been driving by this place for 25 years, going between Madison and Des Moines. We both thought, "I'd like to stop in there once." Well we had a work meeting in DBQ, and decidedly to go visit. Were not disappointed. Seems like a great neighborhood bar. Weeknight and there were people from 21 to 65+ in there. All having a good time. Had a musical bingo thing going on. That was fun too.

The bartender was friendly. There were SO MANY TVs. Would be a great place to sit if you watch sports. There was a dart league going on when i went, so the place was busy. It was a clean and welcoming environment.

My sister-in-law tried to order a round of shots on St. Patrick’s day. The female bartender thought her Illinois driver’s license was a fake. Instead of asking the other bartenders on shift or a manager to help her validate, she instead passed it to a customer who was also sitting at the bar. A bartender should never hand a customer’s ID to anyone who is not behind the bar. We were super sketched out and left shortly after.

$23 for a pour of Eagle Rare was unheard of prior to my visit since the bottle retails for about $50. Thanks Riverboat for setting a new precedent... Bartenders were popular amongst the patrons. Bar seating is a little small but offers a few TVs. Lots of seating elsewhere in the lounge, including a back terrace. Seems like a good place to start or end your night. Occasionally has live music but for whatever reason, not on the Saturday night I visited.

Was at a wedding and the creepy door guy kicked out my 35 year old friends because they were in dresses and didn’t have ID on them. We had a stay recently when we came to Loras college to visit our son. After he went out with friends for the evening we came back to the hotel and decided to have 1-2 drinks to relax. Our server Keri was GREAT! We ended up staying way longer then we expected and it was because of her service and interaction. We will be back again.

Keri was amazing. She was the only bartender there for 4 conferences at the hotel, never got a seconds break but she powered through and kept turning out amazing cocktails. My husband likes to order cocktails most people never heard of and she knew them all, and had the ingredients to make them. We hit up a few bars in town and this one was by far the best because of Keri.

What a super cool place to hang out and have drinks! I was thoroughly impressed as this became one of my new favorite places to watch the game! The bar was clean, the atmosphere was amazing and the service was excellent. From the courtyard to the hideaway lounge area, you will not be disappointed with your visit.

Amazing space downtown. In the same building as Back Pocket Micro Brewery. "Dolph's" has an amazing courtyard surrounded by beautiful brick buildings, with seating, outdoor games, an outdoor bar and a giant HD TV to catch the game. Food had to be ordered through the micro brewery though. We went twice!

5 stars – The PERFECT event space! I hosted my 30th birthday party at Gary Dolphin’s Iron Bar, and I truly can’t say enough good things. The space itself is incredible—versatile for any weather (which is huge in Iowa), cozy yet open, and full of charm with string lights and exposed brick. The staff went above and beyond—from the band to the caricature artist to the bartenders, every single detail was thoughtfully handled and perfectly executed. I felt so taken care of, and so did all of my guests. It was more amazing than I ever imagined, and I’ll be recommending this venue to everyone. I would give it a 10 out of 5. All the workers now are really nice. The ones also in the past are really nice. Gary is also a really nice person and we talk to him all the time. The place is an excellent place to hang out. The courtyard to watch games is really cool with the big TV. The inside is really nice with enough places to sit for a certain amount of people. The orange juice is kind of watery a little bit

Had to kill the entire day until our car was towed back home so we made time to stop by & check this place out. The bartenders all had a very friendly demeanor and showed us around. The decor is so unique & courtyard/patio is fantastic! We even had the pleasure of meeting Gary who was extremely kind and after hearing about our car breakdown, bought us a couple drinks! Great atmosphere & great staff! Thanks to all for the hospitality!

Fun ambience and layout. Right in the middle of a super fun venue. The cocktails were ok. My girlfriend liked her tropical drink. My old fashioned was just mediocre…the drink suffered from having a lot of small ice…more like chips than cubes. It got watered down pretty quickly.

Rolled into the Whiskey… found it on google! Incredible service, Kayla was perfect! Food was outstanding, clientele was great! Great pool table, great jukebox, met some great people! I would give this bar 10 stars if I could! Definitely be back!!! Top shelf!!

Stopped here on our way through town as they had a 4.7 star rating! Chad was bartending, and I am assuming he is the owner. Excellent customer service, nice clean little hidden gem in Dubuque! Chad served us up some lunch, which was surprisingly delicious. Chad made me one of the best Bloody Mary's I have had in a long time. The atmosphere was great, the service was excellent and friendly! Ask Chad about the homemade Raspberry Habanaro Jam they have. We bought a jar, as it was so good! We will definitely stop in again when we come back through the area! Thanks!

Great place, friendly bartenders. However, beware of Monday nights. They have a "billiards league" (a.k.a a bunch of asshats trying to play pool) that won't let you play darts.

Huge variety of bourbons and other spirits. Delicious cocktails. The bartenders are nice and friendly. This place is always on our list to visit when coming to this area.

The staff is rude. We had asked for water and the blonde bar tender ignored us 2xs. My fiance then asked the younger male who appeared annoyed when we asked again. He then came to our table and reached over everyone didn't say a word or asked if we were done with our drinks before taking the whiskey glass my father in law was drinking out of.

Great bar with the friendliest atmosphere! We were there overnight due to car trouble and waiting for a tow the next day. We shared our story with bartender & she was so kind. Another bartender came on duty & even offered to give us a ride if we needed one since she was heading our direction. The staff are all very mind and the drinks were delicious and hand crafted. Can’t wait to stop again!

We like the "Nut". Craig, the owner and bartender, is a great guy. One of the cheapest prices on drinks and beer in town.

No food but great place to hang out, feel the history and prices are really good.

If you like the old dive bars it's a must stop, beer can collection & tap knob collection. Cold beer & good company. Been owned by same family since the 1930s.

Great bar. Owner is awesome and prices good. Entertainment is set back to not affect bar seating. So stuff to do, good atmosphere, many TVs, etc. Definitely a place to hang out.

After the games you have to stop in and try a crusher. We have no idea whats in them, but there really good. As far as the bar its just that a good old fashion drinking bar

I told a made up joke and bartender laughed at me not with me. Good place for a drink and watch the game or billiards. P.s. bring cash as no credit cards but the do have 🏧 machine. Try the nut roll!

Great service. Great food. Clearly a local favorite, but it was also a great bar for this out-of-towner to grab a low-key meal. I had the hand-breaded chicken strips and they were so good. My husband had the prime rib which was also excellent.

I had one of their burgers and I don't think that I ever had such a good burger before. Really juicy thick and big. I didn't ask but I bet that burger it is home made. Also the fries, I was addicted to them. I had to order two extra orders of fries. Totally recommend this place to eat.

Awesome service, with great dinner specials and don't forget, it's a bar with a kitchen so they do have their priorities in order. Sports, food and fun at a reasonable price = VALUE. What more can you ask for? Oh yeah, their burgers are made from steak-trimmings from the other Kalmes restaurant in St Donatus... GET ONE!

Affordable, friendly, and great atmosphere!!! A must for anyone looking for down to earth service and great tasting food, without having to pay an arm and a leg. Definitely recommend all food, but prime rib, chicken, and black and blue burger are my favorites.

Best burger I've had in a long time if not ever. My only complaint is that it was a little crowded and so busy that it took forever to get our order taken and for our food to arrive. Prices are decent but whatever your burger costs, it's worth it. Delicious!!

Great food with a really different kind of menu. The staff there are very friendly and the prices aren't bad, either. I love this place. It's excellent! Too bad they're shut down, as of Jan. 2018

I LOVE this place! Food is great and the wait staff is phenomenal. The only bad thing I can say is that it takes FOREVER to get food. If you're not in a hurry and want a fantastic burger, Kalmes is the place!

Great little place!

Not exclusive, constantly a line. Small place where new drunks like to make the floor slippery. $5 shots, music is way way too loud, in my opinion, your better off on main Street, go to the venue or the hub for similar, yet more appropriate experience. The floors are drier and the music is better, especially on weekends. :) At least you don't have to scream to say hi to the person an inch away from you. I'm never coming back to gins. No offense intended, your money is better spent elsewhere.

Way over capacity and too loud to carry a conversation without screaming to your partner. Sure, as expected for a college dive bar but these are only the minor annoyances. Every step you take beyond the doorway after being greeted by a giant phone booth powered by rocks (I think they call it a bouncer?) bit by bit the sticky soda adhesive peels layers of rubber from beneath your shoes. By the time you reach the bar you feel like Fred Flintstone standing there with smelly sticky bare feet. They have these rock powered things working behind the bar as well. Seemingly turning out drinks left and right filling a black void because no one is really getting service. Rightfully so you don't tip them because they take half the evening to acknowledge that there is in fact humans with a strange currency called dollars that want to pay for a service. I feed them the exact amount they ask for and they snarl at you because they really wanted more... What a tease. I begin to nurse my beer and it's not until then that l realize I'm surround by inebriated zombies fueled by alcohol and tobacco. In all directions. Then I want to leave but I feel like a baby trying to exit it's womb. I get all stick and slimy with sweat and the alcoholic equivalent of after birth. Luckily these properties reduce the friction and I break free of that terrible cave. As a disclaimer, this review isn't meant to be take seriously nor literally. But the one star is well deserved.

They opened the bar early just for our bridal party! It was the bride and grooms favorite hangout spot. So it was extra special :)

Shame on you for serving underage. I am glad you got caught before someone was injured. The number of citations indicates you were not checking ids and this must have been intentional.

The mixed drinks are pretty cheap but really crowded with college kids late at night and cups everywhere on the floor and very slippery floor to were someone could get hurt falling.

My boyfriend and I went here together. He was raised Christian and I was not. I went with an open heart to learn about Jesus. Not only was I rejected, but they actively tried to get my boyfriend to leave me. Rather than try to bring me into the fold, they tried to divide us. We will never go back and I honestly don’t know if I will ever trust a church again.

I tuned into the live stream and the topic concerned how people live out ‘lies’ in their lives. As a Seminary Graduate, I found the ‘context’ to be flawed and self serving; certainly ideological. On further perusal of the web site, things became clear. The core ideology of this church is religious fundamentalism. Or to express it in another way, Biblical Literalism. If you are not familiar with the term, they believe that the Bible is the ‘inherent’ word of God. Most legitimate and authentic seminaries teach the Bible to be ‘inspired’ by God, and not literal dictation of every word throughout the centuries. A little history on what the vast majority of main line Biblical Scholars teach and write: fist, main line scholars of the Bible recognize that the corpus of the texts from the Hebrew Bible, to have a very long history of redaction. This is also why the majority of Biblical Scholars use the Historical Critical Method to ascertain meaning. That is to say, those scholars who graduated from major universities. Conversely, Moody Bible College is not a legitimate source of authentic historic teaching. Thus the problem is not with the text of scripture, but rather those who ‘interpret’ it from a narrow and flawed belief system. As a case in point to the themes of ‘lies’ this pastor was teaching, we need only look at our contemporary situation on how Evangelical Fundamentalism embraces the current occupant of the White House. A man who ‘lies’ on demand to fund his vast cabal of coconspirators while fleecing the Commons of its hard earned treasure. Reading the Biblical narrative is always an interpretation. Some interpretations are better than others. But in this case, the Pastor is filtering his assertions thru the lens of his own ’subjectivism.’ This type of hypocrisy taints and renders illegitimate the entire credibility of Evangelical movement.

My favorite place to be every week! Amazing community, amazing messages, amazing worship, all together under God's amazing grace. Come as you are, no matter the age; there's a little bit of everyone.

Service was a little slow since they were busy but this place got me by surprise! My grandma wanted to go there, appearingly it looks like a total hole in the wall but it was actually really unique inside! Definitely a cool place and the food was pretty decent, really old style food my sandwich was on actual bread slices. definitely not Gourmet but their steak sandwiches are really good.

Blast from the past visit...great lunch of sloppy joe. Had to pass on my chips as kettle chips and I do not agree but split some onion rings which were delicious!! Excellent value. Packed with locals and still felt comfy.

We had our baby shower here! Rented the back room and it was great! The walls were a little busy for decorations but we just hung them from the ceiling. Great place, great food, great staff.

Must go from their amazing lunch specials during the week. They have great prices and the open faced roast beef is better than grandma's!! Fantastic place to grab a quick bite or stay all day for good time and drinks.
