Located in Cape May, New Jersey, the Rusty Nail is a vibrant hangout spot featuring a rustic bar, deck, and fire pit. This lively establishment offers a menu of American cuisine and creative cocktails. One of its highlights is Chef Jimmy's Fried Chicken, which pays homage to his mother's famous recipe. On Mother's Day, guests can savor this beloved dish along with classic sides like mac-and-cheese, collard greens, and cornbread.
I recently had the pleasure of dining at Rusty Nail, and I was genuinely impressed with the entire experience. The food was absolutely delicious—each dish was flavorful, fresh, and clearly made with care. Whether you’re in the mood for something hearty or light, there’s something on the menu for everyone. The service was equally impressive. From the moment we walked in, the staff made us feel welcome and comfortable. They were attentive without being overbearing, and always ready to answer questions or offer recommendations. It’s clear they care about their guests and take pride in what they do. The atmosphere of the restaurant was wonderful. It has a cozy yet lively vibe that makes it perfect for both a casual night out or a special occasion. Whether you’re going with friends, family, or on a date, you’ll feel right at home. Overall, Rusty Nail delivered on all fronts—great food, excellent service, and a warm, inviting atmosphere. I’m already looking forward to my next visit!

5-Star Vibes at Rusty Nail’s Beach Shack! We had a fantastic time at Rusty Nail’s Beach Shack tonight! We walked in with no reservation and were seated immediately—huge bonus! We chose to dine outside in the beach area, and the atmosphere was absolutely beautiful. The ocean breeze, the lights, the sand—it felt like a little getaway. Our server was new and working solo during training, and while he was friendly and eager to help, the only suggestion we’d make is to check in a bit sooner after meals arrive—just to make sure everything’s good! We also didn’t realize we had to hand the check back to him (we thought we paid up front), which caused a bit of confusion. Next time, a quick heads-up would be helpful. But overall, he did great and held it down under pressure! Great food, amazing vibe, and a memorable night. We’ll definitely be back! 🌅🍴🦀

My husband and I always enjoyed stopping here for drinks when we come into this town. We love having a beer and putting our feet in the sand. Today we decided to try their food. It was very good. We had the little necks, sorry no picture. They were delicious. My husband had the flounder sandwich and I had the pulled pork sandwich with the coleslaw. The food and service were very good. We did decide to have one more drink by the fire pit and some live music. Very nice.
Ruby G — Google review
Excellent place to eat with good service, great food and vegetarian options. The outdoor seating was really nice with a beach like atmosphere; sand, lounge chairs with umbrellas, and a couple of fire pits. Some good relaxing live music in the background was also a nice added bonus.
Andrew M — Google review
It's such a fun place for drinks or dining. They have a great outside spot with plenty of seating. The inside even has large doors for fresh air. The veggie item I tried was the grilled tofu tacos. They substituted guacamole for me.
Erin K — Google review
A terrific experience! I recently purchased a house nearby and heard that this restaurant was dog friendly. Definitely not disappointed! Not only as a dog, friendly, but is absolutely human friendly! The atmosphere, the food, the bar, all invite you in. It is my go to place.
Renee S — Google review
I cannot say enough about this lively little beach side hang out! FUN FUN FUN. Great drinks, great snacks, great service. During our visit, they had a Pacifica Beer group that was giving away a nice variety of items with your beer purchase...which made this visit even more fun! Even our dogs enjoyed our visit!
Deborah S — Google review
Drinks and food were tasty, we try the pork nachos and chicken tacos, both of them decently priced and flavorful. Rumanian bartender was very nice and friendly. Outside fireplace was also a nice assest. Nice experience overall.

The Mad Batter Restaurant & Bar is a lively bistro in Cape May, NJ that serves American cuisine from breakfast to dinner. The restaurant features a cozy atmosphere and often hosts live music. It offers made-from-scratch breakfasts, fresh salads for lunch, and uncomplicated European-style dishes for dinner, including options for vegetarians. The bar boasts a diverse selection of reasonably priced wines by the glass. This casual spot is known for its affordable eats and welcoming ambiance.
What a nice place. I'm more fond of the back area near the bar, it has a more relaxing vibe. The food was very good, the apple pie french toast was excellent. I'd go back any time. Very friendly staff. Haven't been here in 12 years but still as good as I remember .. I will mention i would have preferred not to hear the Rhianna album the entire time I was there but you cant always get classical or Sinatra

Soild brunch spot in Cape May! Even with a 45 min wait, the experience was totally worth it. The atmosphere was relaxed, the staff was welcoming, and the food delivered big on flavor. The corned beef hash was the highlight—crispy, tender, and deliciously seasoned. Breakfast potatoes were spot-on too. Portions were reasonable, and the chicken salad croissant was a pleasant surprise in both size and taste. Highly recommend for a laid-back, tasty brunch!
Will S — Google review
Not as impressive as expected This restaurant offers a wide variety of breakfast options, so I had high hopes. I ordered the Brussels sprouts fritters, but they didn’t taste as good as I expected. There was still a strong, unpleasant green taste from the vegetables, and honestly, I don’t think deep-frying works well for this dish. I also tried the award-winning cupcake, but it was just average—nothing special. The pancakes were underwhelming too; I’ve had better at other places, despite all the hype in the reviews. The orange juice was supposed to be freshly squeezed, but I couldn’t tell if it actually was. It tasted overly sweet and artificial, more like something with added sugar than real juice. The one dish I did enjoy was the eggs Benedict—the thick-cut bacon made it really satisfying, and that plate was the highlight of my meal. Overall, it’s a place you could try, but you’re not missing out if you don’t. There are definitely better breakfast spots in the city.

Fruit flies fruit flies. if you close the does an turn the air conditioner on it will keep them dormant . Had breakfast here the day before, eggs a pancake were good enough so came back the next night for dinner. What a mistake. I had both specials massaged kale and couscous ok, the monkfish etouffee flavorless But the real reason for the review is the chicken breast with the cream jus. Cold dry chicken that was definitely a day old. Are waitress Joanna was the only bright spot of this place . Honest, polite, courteous It’s a shame she had to apologize for the food and the flies . Don’t fall for the FAKE Reviews

Highlight: ✨️Orange Almond French Toast✨️ One of the best flavored French toasts I've ever had! No reservations, walked up and were given a buzzer with 1.5 hour wait time. Told by staff to come back to area 45 min after receiving buzzer. We were ready and seated within 10 min of coming back (50-55 min total wait). Service was good. Food arrived after a short wait (we were very hungry so it felt longer than it was) All requests were accommodated quickly and food was well made.
Angel C — Google review
Yummy food! The Crousade was delicious and the Orange/Almond French toast hit the spot. I’m only knocking one star off because my friend’s latte was disappointing. Everything else was pretty great and would definitely recommend for a tasty breakfast spot.

Pleasant brunch spot in Cape May - we did wait almost an hour for a party of 2 on a Saturday morning (no reservations accepted for breakfast). The inside is airy and bright, feels like a boutique and very clean. The food was good, especially the corned beef hash. Worth trying if up for the wait.
Laurel C — Google review
Great food, great staff. Been coming here for years now and I'll keep coming back. Love the Croustade breakfast. Picture of the mango mimosa after a few sips. Try the MANmosa. ITS FANTASTIC!! If you're in Cape May, this place is a must.

Lucky Bones Backwater Grille is a popular family-friendly restaurant located in Cape May, known for its diverse menu featuring seafood dishes and casual comfort food. The restaurant offers a laid-back atmosphere and serves up mouthwatering classics such as burgers, ribs, and of course, seafood. It is owned by the same group behind the prestigious Washington Inn, ensuring quality food and a welcoming environment for families.
Lucky Bone is a wonderful, family-friendly spot. The mussels in red sauce were fresh and flavorful, and the menu has plenty of comfort foods that make you feel at home. Their mocktails are refreshing — we especially liked the one with mint. Service was excellent; our waiter was very helpful and friendly. We’ll definitely come back!

We went to try fish n chips but ended up ordering a pizza alongside. Fish n chips were okay, but surprisingly, the pizza turned out to be really good. It was a four cheese pizza with prosciutto on top. The texture was perfect, and the flavor was amazing. We weren't expecting a good pizza at all but thankfully, now we have found a good pizza spot in Cape May.

Tayrn was amazing ! We are visiting from out of town and had the best experience. The food is amazing. I have a very sensitive gluten celiac disease. They have a whole separate menu and bring out an orange napkin so everyone knows. Then you get your food on a separate orange plate. It’s so nice to be able to be safe and still have food that doesn’t compromise on taste. I wish places where I live did this. The pizza was gluten free and the flavor was amazing. The crust is perfect. So many amazing options. Huge wine menu. Fresh clams. It was great. Be sure to go for sure !

My family and I were down in Cape May for a long weekend for my wife's Bday. We decided to check out Lucky Bones for breakfast since they only do it on weekends, and we were only a short walk away. They had a few specials, all of them sounded good. I chose the Bacon and Bleu Omellete and it was perfect. My wife got the Eggs Benedict, which she also enjoyed. The coffee was very good and our server was very attentive. All in all, a great dining experience for our family. I'd definitely recommend this place for breakfast, I'm sure their lunch and dinner options are just as good as well.

VERY busy place! Decent wine selection. Fun drinks menu. Jenni was AWESOME! Incredibly nice and prompt with everything! Table bussers were also super efficient! That bread that they serve is out of this world! I tried the soup of the day which was split pea. It was very good. I also had the fish and chips. I loved the batter! The place was packed. I highly suggest reservations. Will definitely return.

Good food and great atmosphere. We stopped mid afternoon, and there was no wait. Summer salad, sea bass tacos, mussels, and calamari were amazing Also recommend the lobster bisque!! Take a sweater as it can be quite chilly

Lucky Bones will amaze you. As soon as you walk into this restaurant, you will notice a great full service Bar and a courteous hostess station. We were escorted to our table and were met by a friendly waitress ready to assist us explaining the food specials, the incredible beer offerings, wine and other liquid offerings. I am known by my friends for my true enjoyment of food and drink and my opinions are sincere. Lucky Bones will amaze you with their food and their service. The waitress suggested the mussels served in a San Marzano tomato based sauce with Gorgonzola cheese and shredded Basil. Gorgonzola and Mussels?????? Not sure of that, but the waitress assured me it was fabulous. I listen to food staff. I am glad that I do! It is one of the best dishes of Mussels I ever tasted. Although they have an impressive menu which includes fabulous seafood dishes such as Pompano and Cobia, somehow the fresh chopped clam white pizza pie sounded like a perfect accompaniment. Damn, was I pleased that I did. It was superb! You really cannot go wrong with any dish. The food and service was exemplary and we not could go home without another meal at Lucky Bones. The Mussels and the clam pizza pie are addictive. We were fortunate enough to meet the GM Jason DeWaters as he walked the rooms assuring all guests were satisfied. A great pleasure to meet him and he is just one more reason to travel 123 miles from home to enjoy another meal at Lucky Bones Backwater Grille. You will not be disappointed………..

Fins Bar & Grille is a vibrant and modern grill that specializes in seafood and cocktails. Located in the heart of downtown, this establishment offers outdoor dining and regular live music, making it a popular choice for those who appreciate good food, music, and stylish decor. The bar's striking blue design is particularly noteworthy. With live music on weekends and locals appreciation night every Thursday featuring bar specials, Fins provides an inviting atmosphere year-round.
Honestly really great spot! It's a cool modern bar with great eats! It's a perfect in-between bar not to casual and not to fancy! Great food, atmosphere, and everything else! The chicken taco starter was excellent and huge for an appetizer!

After a long stroll in the streets of Cape May, we came across Fins Bar & Grille, and it turned out to be a great find. I ordered the grilled tuna with fresh salad and sweet potato chips, and it was absolutely delicious. The tuna was perfectly cooked, and the salad was fresh and light, making for a flavorful and satisfying meal. Their sandwiches were also very good. Though pricy, we really enjoyed the freshly made food. It’s definitely worth checking out if you’re in Cape May!
Sabinara S — Google review
I heard weekend will be long waiting time to get in . Luckily we entered no wait time at all because of Thursday branch. Foods could be better if I’m close to water but it’s not too special. We had great time while we having brunch. Service was good.
Kan H — Google review
We’ve ate here a few times during the summer. Recently, we were a bit taken back by the prices. The food is mediocre overall, the atmosphere is nice with the option to sit inside, at the bar, or outside. I’ve never had an issue with services as they are attentive and friendly. We stopped for a quick bit and ordered the French onion, claims, and shrimp cocktail. The French onion and claims were good and priced fairly. The menu for shrimp cocktail (jumbo shrimp) did not list the number of shrimp. Turned out only being 5 shrimp for $22 which seems a bit steep for shrimp just placed in ice and a plate. Total bill was $100 with one $13 drink and tip. We were hesitant to order more at that point and left still hungry.

1st time here for me & my wife. We sat at the bar. We had simple cold sandwiches, some drink specials & beer. All very good. The bartender was very friendly & attentive.

My hubby & I started visiting Cape May, NJ for our once a year mini getaway 3 years ago. We have walked past Fins but never went in until yesterday and what a GREAT decision that was! We were immediately seated in a very welcoming and fun environment. The whole setup is spectacular but it didnt end there. Our waitress, Anastasia, warmly welcomed us with a big, bright smile. She was very helpful and informative with any menu questions we have & truly went above & beyond to serve us well! The food could've been horrible(which is definitely wasnt) but we would still return based off her service alone! Top-teir skills, Anastasia!!! Now, onto the scrumptious food!! Some people in the reviews below mentioned "too pricey"....well.... I believe in "you get what you pay for" and the quality, quantity, and presentation of the food we has met the price points. We shared a house salad and the turkey club with old bay fries. Let's just talk about the SIZE!! HOLY MOLY!! Both dishes were HUGE!! We even had to get a to-go bin as even the both of us just couldn't finish it all! The food was SO FRESH!! It was like they just went and picked the veggies from the garden! So delicious. The turkey meat was fresh as well and so juicy!! The rye bread they used for our club was so soft and tasty. If I could give more than 5 stars, I absolutely would double it!! The atmosphere here at Fins is super laid back and chill. It was very cool inside which helped with escaping the ungodly heat outside. It wasnt loud even though it was packed. Most places are soooo loud but I think it's just the "vibe" Fins has. All in all, if you havent caught on by now, we absolutely LOVED this place and HIGHLY recommend everyone giving it a try for themselves!! Oh, Anastasia, if you see this- keep being YOU! You are such a wonderful human. I know people have different beliefs but I could just tell God has placed such a beautiful anointing on your life to serve others. Not always in a restaurant capacity, but think bigger. You radiate joy, happiness and calmness which is so needed in this world. Be blessed ♡
Starr M — Google review
Had an amazing lunch today! Sat at the bar. The jalapeno pineapple margarita had just the right spice. Oysters rockefeller were the best I have had and I try them everywhere I go! Seafood chowder had great flavor. My boyfriend enjoyed the chicken salad sandwich. I had the bacon scallop sandwich. Scallops were a little overdone, but the flavor was great! Our bartender was super attentive and made great recommendations! Overall, a fantastic experience!
Sam P — Google review
Nice option for a bite to eat on a scenic corner a short stroll away from the beach. Tried oysters from the raw bar, a lobster roll, salad, and a crab cheeseburger. The oysters were absolutely the star of the show. The lobster roll was stuffed full and the lobster itself was delicious but the roll came out a little soggy and was falling apart halfway through. The crab cheeseburger was interesting but I think next time just going with a crab cake might be the move, the beef patty flavor kind of overwhelms the crab topping. Absolutely beautiful restaurant inside and out. We opted to enjoy the patio and people watch. Very happy with our choice to do so! One small detail that was a slight annoyance regarding happy hour. Apparently Fins doesn't do happy hour on Sundays if the following monday is a holiday. All of the happy hour special menus were out on the tables and we weren't told this information when we were sat, but only after we had made our choices and attempted to order off this menu. Removing these menus when the special isn't available or training staff to address this while seating would be a good idea, we overheard a few other tables go through the same conversation with the server so it seems that we weren't the only people to be confused and a bit let down. Mixed drink was so-so but the beer was cold! Overall, Some points that could be improved, but generally we had a good experience and we would come back. L

Such an elegant meal and dining experience. The staff are courteous and inside had a piano player. We tried the rolls, grilled octopus, scallops, duck, baby carrots, and the chocolate tart. Every single dish was exquisite, it felt so luxurious. I do recommend making a reservation for dinner.

Overall, pretty good! They have a full bar, but you can BYOB! But it is a $40 “open” charge per bottle of wine… The drink menu has everything, be mindful it’s very expensive. The NY Strip was great! Cooked exactly how it was requested. The Rack of Lamb entree was great too! Not disappointed at all. The Dover Filet was OK, but there should be more of a ‘starch’ to make it a complete meal. They overhauled it with green beans, but adding potatoes to it would’ve made it better. The Cape May Scallops entree was also pretty good but feels like it’s missing something. You have to buy rolls for the table & it only comes out with 1 roll per person… The atmosphere was OK; waitress was very nice & attentive. It just wasn’t ‘so good’ that I’d go back. The food did come out very quick! I’m glad we tried it, but wasn’t worth it. Not to mention I got 1 scoop of chocolate ice cream for dessert and that little scoop in the photo was $10… It was a $300 tab that didn’t include the $40 open charge. Seems a bit pricey for what we got.

Came here during a fantastic week in Cape May in late July & this was one of the evenings we randomly walked around looking for a spot. I've come to appreciate open bar sitting when there are no reservations. We had a lovely meal, the bartender & staff were fully on point & the piano player was fantastic. Good food, great drinks & a very full restaurant that never felt loud or crowded. Love Ebbit & hope to go back on a future trip!

Our reservation was for 6:45pm... we went early to have a drink in the porch which was so pleasant- a comfy couch and horse and buggy making loops... I checked in and the host immediately said Happy Anniversary (my wife had noted in the reservation). We were seated and greeted with a champagne toast for our anniversary!!! Danica our server was fantastic and the food was honestly perfect!!! We started with the Calamari app as well as the Cut Pasta and Crab app- 2 of the best apps I have ever enjoyed! I got the NY Strip- which will be my standard meal there moving forward! I loved the mushroom gravy and the zucchini couldn't have been better! My wife got the Scallops and they were succulent for sure! We wrapped sharing the Blueberry Tartlet... all I can say is WOW!!! What an experience! ENJOY!!!

This is the most quintessential cocktail lounge/ restaurant in the city of cape may. The casual environment makes you feel like you're not just going to have to stand and wait outside; they welcome you to enjoy very comfortable areas of the hotel, inside and out. A cocktail waitress or waiter walks around serving the areas outside of the dining area giving you an opportunity to enjoy your wait, so much that you might want to just hang around the cocktail areas and skip the restaurant.... but I would not reccomend skipping the restaurant. The food is prepared exceptionally with detail in the display and quality in each dish. It was very hard to choose from the items on the menu because everything sounded so good, I decided it was best to just order several different appetizers and 2 main dishes to split. EVERYTHING was perfect, from the taste, the smell, to the atmosphere. This will be my first choice of restaurant the next time I return to cape may.

It's a wonderful place but packed like sardines and very loud. The food however, is top notch, delicious cocktails, and great service. Having a more expansive kids menu would have been helpful. Had to pay 60 for kids meals is a bit pricey. It was steak but for kids....

We came here for dinner with my friend, and everything was absolutely delicious. For appetizers, we had the tempura calamari and mussels. For our entrées, I ordered the Cape May scallops, and my friend got the rainbow fish. I tried a bite of hers too it was just as amazing. The only downside about the Cape May scallops was that the other flavors slightly overpowered the risotto, so I couldn’t fully taste it. Our server, Ksenija, was super accommodating and welcoming. Overall, a 10/10 experience!🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Place had live music upstairs and the plenty of tables with lighting. Ordered a few beers and some food. Got the Nashville Hot Chicken Sandwich and it was decent. Not very spicy and the fries were good. My cousin ordered the Clam Chowder and really liked it. I would come again if the opportunity arose.

We went for the ocean view. Atmosphere good, although the music was a bit loud. Service was decent. Server was polite and friendly. The food really needs some work. I ordered a $30 salad that was overpriced for the quality. It looked pretty but the seafood was incredibly dry. Iced tea was old. My husband said his lobster roll was ok.

Place is at the end of Beach feels a little bit like you're on the outskirts. Nice patio. Check out the picture of a bowl of clam chowder with a small spoon in the bowl to give you a sense of scale. Was more like a cup. Chicken caesar salad tasted like Ken's Caesar dressing with cold chicken on top. I never ever send anything back but I had to. They're really nice and the manager came out to ask if there's anything they could do. Waitstaff seemed new and inexperienced and was really nice but super slow on getting our check and trying to pay to get out of there. The burger the wings and the french fries were all really mediocre. Insert your favorite Fleetwood Mac song here as the soundtrack... "Never..."

Harry's was very good for our first time! We are already planning to come back. The only negative at all was that all of our food was too salty. Mostly just a little. Except the fried flounder. This fish itself was delicious but the batter was way too salty. Clam chowder was very, very good and had lots of clams. $10 a bowl seemed steep, but after having it, I did not feel cheated at all. Crab cake sandwich was delicious! Key lime pie also delicious. Also the restaurant is beautiful! Apart from the soup, prices were very reasonable compared to other nice restaurants in the Wildwood/Cape May area. Go visit Harry's, and maybe just ask for light salt to be safe!

CAPE MAY: @harryscapemay is one of the most fun and happening dog friendly places we have been to in our travels and we highly recommend visiting for a great meal, fabulous drinks, and oceanfront views! Leashed and friendly dogs are allowed in the tented outdoor patio area and the rooftop! We were so fortunate to be visiting during the fall and got to experience their “Boo Bar,” a Halloween themed pop-up experience with specialty drinks, spooky decor, and guests wildly dressed up for the costume contest. It was so much fun! Check out their website and social media to stay up to date on other events throughout the year. Harry’s is open daily for lunch and dinner and also has breakfast on the weekends. Enjoy elevated American-style food and locally sourced seafood.

My hubby and our friends were trying to find a spot to eat dinner around 930 at night and Harry's was one of the only places still open. We checked out the menu and figured we would try it out. I'm sooooo glad we did! The atmosphere was great! Very chill but also fun. We got roof top seating which was PERFECT! They had live music playing downstairs but in that moment it was just too loud for us so the roof was perfect. It was so nice up there. Our server, Jordan, went above and beyond. He was super kind and helpful. Jordan carried some great conversations with us, too, and made us feel welcomed. He had great suggestions and was super attentive! The food we ordered was SCRUMPTIOUS!! Absolutely amazing!! Everything was cooked and prepared to perfection! That Hot Crab dip and chips were my FAVE!!! We will Absolutely come back to Harry's as we visit yearly for our hubby/wife get away with no kids lol All in all, we HIGHLY recommend this establishment!!

First and Last Visit Before mentioning the negatives, I want to start on a positive note — our server, Izzy, was outstanding. She was friendly, attentive, and the highlight of our dining experience. Drinks: We began with cocktails. A Cosmopolitan was ordered but what arrived was a dark, bubbly pink drink that didn’t resemble a traditional Cosmo. The Orange Crush was also below average compared to similar drinks at nearby restaurants. Dinner: Positives: • The clam chowder was flavorful and delicious. • The homemade chips were enjoyable and would pair even better with a warm queso dip. • The cauliflower appetizer was also quite good. Negatives: • Baked Scallops & Shrimp ($32): The portion was disappointing — only two scallops and two shrimp, each cut into smaller pieces, giving the dish an unappealing presentation. It was returned and replaced with wings, which unfortunately were served with the sauce pooled at the bottom of the bowl instead of being tossed. • Crab Cake Sandwich: Overly salty, though the fries on the side were very good. • Burrata & Prosciutto Salad: Arrived without prosciutto, and the ranch dressing we requested never came. The total for our party of four was $190, which felt excessive given the overall quality and execution of the meal. Aside from the excellent service and a few decent appetizers, the experience fell short of expectations.

Sat on the rooftop, looking out at the ocean. We had apps, dinner and drinks and enjoyed them all. Lauri, the host could not have been any better and our server, Jordan was on top of it like we were his only table. They had a group, Funzaluv, playing and everyone was singing and enjoying the night. On our way out the manager Eric stopped to see that we enjoyed our night. Definitely will be back.

Located in Cape May, New Jersey, The Lobster House is a popular seafood restaurant with a lively atmosphere and waterfront views. It offers a full bar and casual dining experience, serving fresh lobster and seafood from the dock for lunch and dinner every day of the week. In addition to its five dining rooms, The Lobster House provides a unique dining experience on the Schooner American, an authentic 130-foot-long Grand Banks sailing vessel moored dockside.
Nice place for dinner. We seated inside the restaurant because we wanted air conditioning. But we realized that seating on the dock or the boat was also cool with sea breeze. We Will definitely choose to seat outside with Take-out orders the next time visiting Cape May. I gave only four stars because we waited for the food very long and it seemed like the waitress was too busy. But she was friendly. In general, I like this place and will come back again.

The restaurant sign at the entrance is large and easy to spot — anyone passing by on their way to Cape May Beach will definitely see it. There’s plenty of parking, which makes it very convenient. The restaurant is divided into three sections: seating on the boat, roadside seating, and indoor seating. Since it was raining when we visited, we sat inside. The interior has a classic, slightly old-school vibe. The staff were well-dressed and courteous. However, we were surprised when the server placed plates on our table that were still wet and had visible stains on them — we had to wipe them ourselves. We started with appetizers: fried calamari, fresh crab meat, jumbo shrimp cocktail, and clam chowder. The taste was decent. However, the staff repeatedly came over to ask if we were ready to order the main course, even though our table was still full of appetizers. It felt unnecessarily rushed, especially since it was raining and the restaurant wasn’t crowded. Once we finally ordered our mains — two lobsters (steamed and boiled) with a side of crab cake stuffing — the server brought us some bread. The bread was tasty and went well with the clam chowder, although it could get a bit messy when cutting. When the lobster arrived, we were excited — we had high expectations, especially from a place called “Lobster House.” Unfortunately, the taste was very average and not particularly fresh, which was disappointing. We eat seafood often and can tell the difference between fresh and not-so-fresh, and this was clearly not fresh. Overall, we were a bit let down. The restaurant is popular and worth visiting for the experience, but don’t expect too much. It could have been better.

We enjoyed a delicious meal, with friendly and attentive staff and a beautiful view of the harbor from our table. When we saw how many cars were in the parking lot, we were concerned we'd have a long wait for a table. However, the restaurant is huge, with multiple dining rooms, and we only waited about 20 minutes. The staff and kitchen were incredibly efficient, we were in awe of how smoothly they were able to serve so many people at once. I had the Flounder Francaise over linguine and it was one of the best meals I had on our two week trip across the Northeast coast. The fish was perfectly cooked with a light egg coating and the lemon wine sauce was delicious. My husband had the swordfish served on a wood plank with duchess potatoes and said his meal was perfect. We would definitely return when in the area again.

Quaint old school restaurant on the wharf with beautiful views and knowledgeable staff with adorable uniforms that take me back. Sandy was a great server. Very accommodating and direct. Food was excellent. It's nice that the salad is included with homemade dressing. The room was a little dark with many customers with flash lights. The bathroom attendant was so friendly.

Crab imperial - to die for Lobster house special - best thing to order you get lobster, shrimp and scallops!! My favorite were the scallops. Thank you for a lovely last evening at the shore.

It is one of the more popular restaurant in the area. There was a wait for dinner on a Thursday night. We arrived at 7:30pm and waited about 25-30 minutes for seats. Huge parking lot across the street. Crabmeat cocktail was good. Calamari was not that great. A little soggy and not crispy. Lobster house specialty was okay. The broiled 1.5lbs lobster was a must get.

This place blew us away. Cozy, sea inspired feel and deco. The food was great, lobster bisque was incredible (our regards to Chef John). The Ugly Mug Bar & Restaurant is a beloved establishment located just a few blocks from the Cape May, NJ Beach. With its unpretentious atmosphere and ceiling adorned with mugs, it's been a popular spot for over 30 years. Known for serving excellent beers and wholesome plates of food, it offers the ultimate beach tavern experience. Visitors can enjoy live music events on weekends and Open-Mic Night on Sundays during the off-season.
We ordered the Lobster Roll with French Fries & Coleslaw. Although I didn’t care for the coleslaw (tasted greasy), I loved the Lobster Roll! It was delicious, fresh and the portion was generous. In addition, we got the Big Garden Salad with Crab Meat. This was also a generous portion with fresh lumps of crab Meat. Ask for Tristan when you come, he’s a great server.

Typical bar/pub feel. Indoor and outdoor seating. Food was semi flavorless and mediocre. Burgers are hand made and huge! Nice amount of hand cut cheese from a block and garnishes are fresh, as well as the bun! BUT…not seasoned. Fries are typical pub fries with no real pizazz. Sweet potato fries were half uncooked, half soggy. Drinks come in plastic cups outside unless you’re getting tap beer. Chicken fingers are traditional frozen bulk-bagged tenders. Chicken wings were par. Hot dog for the kids was huge, and grilled which was nice! There’s half a dozen or so places like it in the area, with 3, including this one, on the mall. So pick your poison. You can find something for everyone here. But it’s nothing that you’ll be raving about, nor walking away wishing you didn’t go. If you’re hungry and can’t decide, just pick one of them and eat (pubs/bars in the area).

Thought this place was pretty good for being in the middle of a shopping center. Very unique look to the place, and all 6 of us were pretty happy with their meal. $180 after tip for 6 people isn’t too bad in an area like this. They sell pretty good beer on tap too!! Would for sure come back. Portions were good, Wedge salad was delicious. Margarita Pizza was thin crust so it wasn’t too heavy at all. Only slight complaint is we wish they served fries with the burgers instead of potato chips, but they did state it in the menu so we could’ve tried to be more specific. Great experience overall!! Stopped in for a quick bite after a railway tour. We sat at the bar. We were helped right away. I had the manhattan clam chowder, probably one of the best I’ve ever had! I also had the local oysters and they did not disappoint! The coleslaw was crisp and was seasoned perfectly. My husband had the French dip and his sandwich was loaded with meat. Food was amazing, service was exceptional, and the atmosphere was great. Overall a wonderful experience and we will most definitely be back.

We ate at the Ugly Mug today for lunch. The food was great, including the fall off the bone ribs, hot roast beef sandwich (which had enough meat to make 2-3 sandwhiches), the oriental mixed greens salad with grilled chicken, and the hot boneless wings and French fries. Service wasnt bad, just a little slow. Other than that, we really liked this place, and would absolutely go back again

Very popular place to eat when going to Washington Street Mall in Cape May. It was getting a bit muggy no pun intended so we ate inside. They have specials menu and regular menu. We started out with wings and they were a good amount, good size and tasted very good. For my entree I went with the beer battered shrimp and my husband chose the special cheesesteak egg rolls. The shrimp were a good size I was impressed . The cheesesteak eggrolls were so good, and the dipping cheese sauce was good too! Our waitress was very attentive and the other staff was nice too. Definitely I recommend this place if you like pub like scenery and if you go in September they have a beer foam blowing contest. Enjoy ! #tastebudadventures #yelpelitesquadmember

With family in from out of town we stopped in for a quick lunch. Very disappointed with the food. The overall attitude was nice, but could use a little TLC since every time someone bumped the fence outside a piece fell off. The Ugly Mug Fries were a huge overpriced waste. Looked good, but tasted like a frozen French Fry with a canned cream gravy and old bay. Crab was nonexistent. Everything from the sandwiches, to the soups were just extremely overpriced and underwhelming. It was a hot day and I didn’t even receive a single refill on my drink. So much potential but lost me.

The Washington Inn & Wine Bar is an elegant American restaurant located in a Victorian plantation house, offering a sophisticated dining experience. The menu features fresh seafood, locally-sourced produce, and inventive twists on traditional dishes. Guests can savor appetizers like chilled shrimp with tropical fruits or roasted mushroom soup, followed by main courses such as seafood cioppino and crab cakes. The restaurant's historic charm adds to the ambiance, with options to dine in the formal dining room or on the charming screened-in porch.
We had an 8:30 reservation and arrived a bit early. Right away, the host let us know we’d be seated closer to our reserved time and invited us to relax at a bar table. A bar waiter quickly took our drink order, and we were seated right on time. The hostess even mentioned they saved us a lovely window seat, which was such a thoughtful touch. Everything we ordered was fantastic—from the oysters Rockefeller to the crab cakes and cioppino. Service was attentive and warm throughout. A high-caliber dining experience in every way, absolutely worth a visit.

We recently dined at Washington Inn and were seated in the wine cellar, a small and cozy space with just three tables. It's a unique, intimate setting that some may find charming, though it might not be for everyone. If you're looking for a quiet, tucked-away experience, it's definitely a cool spot. Service was attentive and professional throughout the evening, which we appreciated. However, the food didn’t quite live up to the high expectations set by the atmosphere and price point. The crab cakes were a letdown, fried and packed with shredded lump meat, lacking the delicate texture and flavor you’d hope for, especially being down the shore. The rack of lamb, while cooked nicely, consisted of only four small lollipop chops and didn’t feel like a good value. On a brighter note, the flounder special was excellent, fresh, well-prepared, and full of flavor. Cocktails were also a highlight of the evening. Overall, Washington Inn has a nice ambiance and solid service, but for a more consistently satisfying dining experience in Cape May, I’d recommend Peter Shields instead.

Easily one of my top five dining experiences ever - better than some Michelin-starred restaurants I’ve enjoyed. Even their simple garden salad was extraordinary. Do not pass on the Mediterranean sea bass - the fish was perfectly prepared, and the salsa verde was one of the most complex, unctuous sauces I’ve ever had. The flavors of the sorbet were so concentrated and clear - I couldn’t stop eating them, especially the mango. The service was outstanding, and the price performance was excellent. This was a transcendent meal - can’t wait to come back.

Went here for the first dinner as a married couple after our wedding. No less than four wedding guests screamed and said “you’re gonna have a great time” when we told them where we were headed for dinner the following day. We did in fact, have a great time! The caviar is some of the best I’ve ever had and we were treated to the fabulous story of how the farmers met working at the Inn. It was a picturesque restaurant, absolutely incredible service and a memory I will treasure forever. Can’t wait to go back!

Our family loved it here, first time this weekend. They have a huge menu, and all three meals came out fantastic. The pork and sauerkraut was the best I've ever had, very tender and flavorful. The ribs and shepherd's pie were fantastic as well. They had indoor and outdoor seating, and very easily accommodated us with a stroller and little one. Drinks were good too, my apple cider mule was perfect. Definitely will go back.

super busy weekend so take that into account. The bangers were dry and the seafood was bland. But this is a holiday weekend. Prices were on par with other places, all tourist locations.

I was there recently with my girlfriend. From the start, when we received the menu I was surprised at the massive amount of options. I wondered how they managed such a huge menu and all the ingredients. It didn’t take long to get our food, but after a couple minutes my girlfriend noticed there was mold growing on her sandwich roll... We check the other half of the bun and there was even more mold. Absolutely disgusting and appetite killing. My food was fine, but how could I continue eating knowing there are issues in the kitchen? It’s understandable mistakes can be made in a busy restaurant, but this is a health issue and is inexcusable.

DECENT... but 2 people in my group got the Sheppards Pie and one was perfect and not watery and mine was watery. No consistency on same dish in same placing. The scallops which my sister had were good but a fried scallops on a wet leaf made the crust8ng little soggy although the scallops itself was good. The staff was friendly but didnt come round often. Years ago when I was here I remembered the food to have been little better... but still not bad , just could've been touch better.

Stopped at lunch and sat outside. My wife ordered the crab cake sandwich and sweet potato fries. I ordered the Maryland Burger, which was a 10 ounce burger with crab and cheese on top. They asked how to cook it and I said medium. Should be some pink inside. Arrived and it was med-well and asked me what I thought. I feel when a server asks you to specify hiw to cook then they are prepared to make it that way. I hate to waste food, but I told him I would appreciate it cooked as ordered. He politely took it back and within just a few minutes brought me a fresh, hot burger cooked just right. It was fantastic. I'd go back again next year during my vacation. My wife's crab cake and fries were great too.

Mayer's Tavern, a beloved establishment with over 70 years of history, offers a cozy ambiance with exposed brick walls and wooden beams. Located by the Cape May harbor, it is known for its classic American dishes like fresh seafood, steaks, and burgers. The menu also includes small plates and dinner specials such as their renowned scallops. The full bar serves craft cocktails, local beers, and an impressive wine selection.
We had a great first experience here a few weeks back. Excellent shore vibes, friendly hospitality, fast service, amazing food. Especially loved the calamari (perfect texture, great add-ins) and scallops (so sweet lightly fried but not greasy), plus the delicious carrots that were on special. Drinks were on point as well. Chocolate mousse was the cherry on top for dessert! Can’t wait to return again later this summer 😎

Another fantastic meal at Mayer's Tavern. Tonight I had the yogurt marinated chicken. It was really hard not to get the scallops but I was just there last week so I convinced myself to try something different. Family who I had dinner with both got the scallops and when their plates were delivered I was feeling a little regret looking at the amazing plate of scallops but that quickly changed when I took the first bite of my chicken. The chicken was just as fantastic as the scallops. A perfectly cooked airline breast with crispy skin and tender juicy breast seasoned nicely and served with polenta and greens. Everything I have tried has been really well prepared, thoughtfully seasoned and complimented by sides and sauces that elevate the flavor of top quality ingredients prepared with attention to detail. Can't wait to return and try some more great menu items or specials. If I lived closer I'd be a regular for sure. Very limited menu but what they do they do very well. Great dishes I've tried: Scallops of course, mussels, crab fritters, yogurt marinated Chicken, Zucchini and Squash with green goddess dressing (app special), chocolate mousse.

Mayers is the best in town. We crave their food. The scallop platter, the burger, the kale salad , the clams……😀 Update on 8/2/25: They took the clam appetizer off, but added this crispy chicken app. Though i was very frustrated about the clam appetizer getting pulled :( , the crispy chicken app blew me away. This chef and crew create tastes that you would have never thought existed. The bread pudding is the best you will ever have. This place is amazing.

We dine at Mayer’s a few times each summer and it is a nice, off the beaten track establishment. A lot of the food is fried but they continue to add non-fried items. They’ve added more specials this summer including fresh fish options. The portions are flavorful and fairly priced. The bar is nice and cozy and often packed. The indoor restaurant is small and can get full quickly on inclement days when the outside porch dining is closed. They always have a unique wine list with offerings from many smaller, lesser known vineyards. There is some parking next to the restaurant and usually street parking can be found. We enjoy dining here and think you will too.

I always get a burger my first time at a restaurant if I'm unsure if they make good food or not. If they can't make a good burger, the rest of the food is going to suck just as much. I'd rather spend $19 on a burger than $45 on a steak or seafood to find out they use frozen grocery store meat. Not the case here. Really great burger. Obviously ground, not frozen or store bought patty, with a nice blend, great flavor, and well put together end product. My wife's scallops, the fries, and the desserts were also all excellent. Servers were great and were very gracious even with my toddler making a mess on the floor. Prices are reasonable. Nit picks: the bourbon lemonade kind of a foofoo drink (I should have asked beforehand) and is very lemon sour forward and needs a higher ratio of bourbon (for people who actually want to taste bourbon), and they won't split a check, even 50/50. Pretty silly in this day in age. But oh well.

We have been here multiple times over the past few years, and the food and service are always above and beyond. We are from Pittsburgh so we are only here once a year or so. We always make a point to stop here for dinner while vacationing in CM. The food is always delicious but the service is more so what keeps us coming back. I can’t speak highly enough about this restaurant. Came here for dinner for my cousins bachelorette weekend. Love a great BYOB and this place came highly reccomended. Service was great and food was phenomenal. Would definitely go back if I go back to that area. The calamari was EXCELLENT, burrito a peach salad was ok, the peaches weren't ripe so that was a little underwhelming. The Halibut that had on special was incredible, so fresh and cooked perfectly. The filet was delicious but the peppercorn(in my opinion) was a little too much to my liking. The seafood risotto was very flavorful and cooked perfectly as well. The gnocchi was great too.

This is a great option while walking or shopping at a famous Washington Street promenade in Cape May. We sat down in the back yard of the restaurant and it was great. Loved the food. Service was efficient and pretty quick. We highly recommend this restaurant.

Went off season for lunch. There was no wait and they were able to accommodate our stroller outside. (They had heaters so even though it was a little chilly we were super comfortable.) We shared a Cesar salad and my husband had the salmon po'boy. The fish was cooked perfectly. I had the scallops and risotto. It was a smaller portion, only 4 scallops, but I think it is technically an appetizer, and actually it was the perfect portion for me. The food was delicious and we enjoyed the people watching. Service was very attentive and not rushed at all.

Tisha’s is always reliable and delicious. We enjoyed the halibut and a Thai style chili salmon with shrimp. Beautiful setting, sitting outside, with exceptional service. Reservations recommended.

Very romantic place for dinner. We had lobster bisque and it was excellent! My chicken pasqual was really good. My husband had the pork chop with apples and it was cooked to perfection. The gnocchi was terrible. Gummy and tough. Our server was ok, got the job done but no warmth at all. Overall it was a great dinner and we would go back.

Located adjacent to the renowned Congress Hall in Cape May, The Blue Pig Tavern is a long-standing establishment that offers a warm and rustic dining experience. Whether you choose to dine on the patio or in the cozy dining room of this 1800s hotel, you can enjoy updated American fare.
We had dinner at the Blue Pig Tavern during a recent stay in Cape May, and it turned out to be one of the most enjoyable meals of our trip. The restaurant is lively and welcoming, with a bit of a buzz in the air. It’s clearly a family friendly spot, which shows in the higher noise level and the number of tables filled with multigenerational groups. We chose to eat indoors, but many diners seemed to love the outdoor seating area as well. Even though the restaurant has plenty of tables, it’s a good idea to make a reservation. They do take walk ins, but the wait looked long by the time we arrived. Despite being very busy, the service was excellent from start to finish. The staff was attentive, friendly, and especially helpful when it came to answering questions about gluten free options and how certain dishes could be modified. I ordered the shrimp cocktail and the scallops, both prepared gluten free. The shrimp were fresh and well chilled, and the scallops were the standout of the night, tender, flavorful, and cooked just right. The rest of my family, who don’t have any dietary restrictions, were equally happy with their meals. One of the favorites was the lobster mac and cheese with added bacon, which came in a generous portion that made for great leftovers. My husband couldn’t stop talking about the mussels and the crab cakes, both of which he said were excellent. Dessert was another highlight. While the gluten free options are a little limited, the ice cream and sorbet are both very fresh and creamy. Everyone else at the table gravitated toward the apple pie à la mode, which was the favorite across the board. My youngest son had the flourless chocolate cake paired with a hazelnut gelato, and he absolutely loved it. The cocktails were just as well executed as the food. There was a small issue with the second drink my husband ordered, but the staff handled it gracefully and quickly. The fixed version came out perfect, and it was nice to see that kind of care taken in a busy setting. Overall, Blue Pig Tavern delivered a memorable dining experience for our whole family. The atmosphere is vibrant, the service is professional, and the food, especially the scallops, is worth the trip.

My partner and I enjoyed lovely dinner at The Big Blue Tavern located inside the beautiful Congress Hall Hotel. The rustic, old-school vibe gave it a cozy charm, and the location couldn’t be better- right in the heart of Cape May. We took advantage of their Restaurant Week deal ($50 per person) which was a solid value. The food was delicious. I started with the fried calamari, crispy and well-seasoned—followed by the chicken with mashed potatoes, which was tender and satisfying. My partner loved the steak and frites, cooked just right. The apple pie for dessert was a classic, sweet ending. Service was good friendly and efficientand the overall experience made it the best dinner of our Cape May trip.

My family and I stopped by the Blue Pig for an early dinner and had such a wonderful experience. We didn’t have a reservation and were a big party but they got us seated outside like we requested. It was so beautiful outside. The service was great. The parker rolls were excellent! We ordered a bunch of different entrees and they were all excellent! So happy we stopped by here and will be sure to come again next time.

We stopped at the Blue Pig Tavern for dinner after having drinks and bang bang shrimp outside in the famous rocking chairs at Congress Hall. We decided to eat outside in order to enjoy the gorgeous September evening. The atmosphere was perfection. The food and service left a little bit to be desired. The place was not overly crowded, but our waitress was not very attentive, as we sat with empty water and glasses, waiting for our wine. Given the prices, I was hoping for a better experience.

Went here for lunch, got the steak frites, the turkey bacon avocado sandwhich and sangria. Steak frites was on the money, I wish I had a better picture but I ordered it medium rare and it was cooked perfectly. This steak could easily compete with a top rated steakhouse. The sandwhich was really good, fries were perfect, and the salad was good too. I cant say the same fornthe sangria, it wasn't for me but I did try it, it seemed to lack authenticity. Dropped in a few pieces of fruit and some red wine with a spritz of something from a bar soda gun (grenadine or maybe cranberry). Not horrible but not too good.

We had a fantastic dinner at The Blue Pig Tavern in Cape May and honestly can’t understand why this place isn’t rated higher. From the start, the fresh rolls and butter were out of this world, seriously some of the best we’ve had anywhere. We shared the lobster mac and cheese and calamari appetizers, and both were outstanding. The portions were generous, especially for a resort town, and the lobster mac was packed with meat, at least four full claws plus more throughout. For entrees, I had the gnocchi alla sorrentina (which was rich and perfectly cooked), my wife had the fish and chips (crispy and light), and our kids devoured the burger and mac and cheese off the kids’ menu. Every dish hit the mark, flavorful, fresh, and well-executed. On top of that, our server Laura was fantastic, friendly, attentive, and made the experience even better. Highly recommend The Blue Pig, great food, great value, great service!

Attached to Congress Hall, this is a dining must when visiting or staying in Cape May. Much of their food is sourced from their other property, Beach Plum Farm, in West Cape May. We stopped in for lunch and were very impressed with both of our meals. The lobster roll was moist and delicious and the superfood bowl with salmon was also a great choice. They provide indoor or outdoor dining weather permitting.

We just arrived home from a week stay in Cape May. We had our breakfast at The Blue Pig five out of the seven days. The ice coffee is beyond perfection, each meal was delicious, along with great service. The female manger was so welcoming/happy, gifted my child a pig sticker each day and knew where we preferred to dine. Was very enjoyable and relaxing, we definitely will be back. My six year old who is a very picky eater enjoyed her variety of meals as well. The only restaurant who didn't clear my meal/drink when dinning as a solo parent with a small child. Thank you for the hospitality!!

I’ve eaten a lot of cheesecake in my day. But I have never had such an amazing cheesecake Like banana bananas, Foster cheesecake at Oyster Bay. There really are no words to describe it. It’s absolutely incredible! It’s light, airy , and the most incredible taste of cheesecake I’ve ever had. Whoever makes this. Make sure that you don’t ever change the recipe and don’t ever let them go! I’d give it a 10 stars if I could.

Pretty, well kept establishment but can be renovated. Waitress was attentive but wasn’t happy with the tip because her words to my husband were “Just so you know, gratuity was NOT already in the bill”, and stormed off. Other than that, food was just okay. The best thing in my opinion were the boardwalk fries. Perfectly seasoned, the right amount of thickness and crisp. I ordered the duck and for a $40 dish, I don’t want to see canned oranges on my plate. The flavors were nice on the duck and it was cooked tender. However, sides were flavorless and just seemed to be steamed and barely buttered. Cocktail was delicious, but you can tell the garnish jalapeños were cut 2-3 days ago. To finish, I don’t think I’d come back.

An absolute gem of a restaurant with exceptional drinks and food. The service was terrific. They didn't rush us and we were able to ask questions. Top notch.. I live down here all summer for 12yrs and anytime I have friends or family down and they want to go out to dinner this is where I take them..it's on point every time..fantastic steaks..very comfortable atmosphere and great service..it's an act of God if you are able to get a parking spot but I have managed every time. Also the bar area is very nice, you can sit there and wait for your table or you can just order from the full menu right there.

The upscale establishment provides an amazing dining experience with exceptional food and friendly staff, making it a must-visit for anyone looking to enjoy delicious Mexican cuisine by the ocean.
We came here for dinner on vacation and loved it. Super cool vibe with fun decor and a DJ booth, and good service too. The menu is mostly tacos which is great because the tacos are amazing. We had good drinks too, margaritas were good and the oxaca old fashioned was super interesting and tasty. I had the quesobirria tacos which were some of the best I've had, and other hits included the coconut shrimp, short rib, and more. We went at 5p on a Sat, party of 7, and had no wait despite it being busy. All around really great experience would definitely go back.

We loved it here. The place has delicious Mexican food, literally everything we have ordered was excellent! Bass fish tacos were amazing. Veggie burrito was superb and the lobster corn soup was simply amazing. The star at is located right at the Cape May beach with amazing views. It offers balcony seating in addition to inside dining. We had a lunch on Friday afternoon and the place was packed! No wonder! Solid 5 star experience. We highly recommend this restaurant when in Cape May!
Kosta R — Google review
Our waiter was fantastic-super attentive but not overbearing. Drinks were tasty but felt more like mocktails. Two margaritas and I didn’t even feel a buzz, (i do not drink often or alot) so definitely light on liquor for the prices they are charging. Would be more worth it at 2/3 the price. The host situation was a little confusing at first, but once seated, service was great. Tacos were good (al pastor was tender and flavorful, short rib bao taco was unique and delicious) All the fish tacos had the same slaw — wish there was more variety. Street corn fries were amazing-like upgraded Taco Bell nacho fries (in the best way), though ours didn’t seem to have any corn in the queso. Biggest letdown was the spicy tuna tacos — tasted like canned tuna and the ratio was way off. Too much tuna (which we wouldn't normally complain about but it tasted canned). This could be a big winner just needs some adjustments. Great service, decent food, but not sure it justifies the price.

Fun restaurant right on beach ave! This is our first time down in cape may, and found this little spot while walking to the beach. The food was great, beer was excellent and the service was fantastic.. what a way to start our trip in this wonderful part of jersey. We sat on the second floor balcony overlooking the beach. My wife and myself both ordered the taco sampler. Food came out fantastic, the tacos hit the spot after a long walk down the boardwalk. Place was a little noisy, so if your looking for a quiet meal with no interruptions you may want to ask for indoor seating. Will definitely be checking this place out again

The food is wonderful and the drinks are creatively lovely. Inside the restaurant is nice, but the outside seating is even better with a nice view. The location of this restaurant is perfect, near all the shops and also along the shoreline. We have not been disappointed!

Highly energetic from the moment you walk in, it's a huge corner location & they have it all -- music - check, awesome bar - check, lip smacking food - check check! There were couples, families, little kids, teenagers, pretty much all the ages are covered. Came with my group of friends & we sat at the bar [my new fave spot when you dont have res's].Was July so it's too far back for me to remember exactly what we ate but we all agreed everything was delish, very much recommend!!!!

The food, service, atmosphere here was great. Very fresh ingredients and cooked the perfect perfection. I had a sampler of tacos and I was so satisfied afterwards. Very well seasoned and each ingredient went well together. We ended up sitting at the bar and I am so glad we did. The wait time was minimal for the food. I must not forget the drinks…They were delicious as well. 😁

Meh. Passed by while walking along the beach and thought it looked decent and the reviews were pretty good. The drinks were pretty good, but the food was mediocre. We started with the Mexico City Guacamole, which they brought out moments after we ordered. I like not having to wait, but at least pretend that you made it to order. We only had a few chips with guacamole and they brought out our tacos. I get you want to turn over your tables, but we were already battling keeping the flies off of our guacamole, it was challenging to then eat the tacos and keep the flies off the rest of the guacamole. The sea bass tacos were probably the best that we ordered - felt like the best value with a good sized piece of fish on them. Keep in mind that the tacos average just under $10/taco! The Al Pastor tacos had good flavor but were very chewy. The “freshly-caught” mahi tacos might have been freshly caught at some point - but definitely frozen before they were served. We were happy with our margaritas. If you can get a seat upstairs overlooking the ocean, that definitely helps the experience. Overall, the food was not even close to worth the price. It would be nice if they let you eat your appetizer for a few minutes before bringing over the tacos. There are many other better options nearby.

Nestled in the heart of Cape May, The Cricket Club is a delightful new addition to the local dining scene, brought to life by the Kulkowitz family, who are also behind the beloved Mad Batter. This contemporary American eatery occupies the charming space that once housed the Merion Inn and strikes a perfect balance between casual and upscale dining. With an inviting atmosphere that feels both warm and sophisticated, it’s an ideal spot for those looking to unwind with friends or enjoy a special meal.
Absolutely wonderful experience here on Saturday night. We were a group of 5 and we loved everything! Monica was our server and she is terrific. Friendly, knowledgeable, and very efficient! Best scallops I've ever had! The photos will speak for themselves. And save room for dessert! Cheesecake, chocolate cake, creme brulee, and cobbler. 🤌 it was all excellent.

Incredible eating experience. Made a reservation for 5:30 PM on a Monday, and it was not crowded at all. I ordered the "1998 Called" cocktail, and it was sweetly tart. The waiter recommended the loaded potato muffins for an appetizer, and they were savory, fluffy, salty goodness. We also had the cricket lager mussels, which were a generous helping split between 6 adults. My only complaint was that they didn't serve much bread to dip in the broth, so we ordered extra rolls to soak up the rest. I had the pan seared salmon -- 10/10. It was so well balanced!! Perfectly cooked creamy risotto, buttery sauce, and a bright arugula salad on top. My partner had the sea scallops and raved about the dish. Couldn't recommend this place more!!

We tried the Cricket Club during Cape May Restaurant. The $55 per person price fixed menu offered a wide selection of dinner options to choose from. For one of our appetizer we tried the Spicy Tuna Roll which was Breaded, flash fried and served with pickled ginger, soy, wasabi and wakame salad. It was very tasty and fresh. Our second appetizer was the Loaded Potato Muffins consisting of Shredded potatoes, scallions, bacon, and white cheddar served with tomato jam, truffle parmesan seasoning and honey herb butter. Both were delicious. For entrees we chose the Wagyu & Burrata American wagyu ground beef, red wine tomato ragu, burrata ravioli, parmesan and basil. Think of it like a pasta bolognese. The other being a Pork Chop Espresso rubbed pork chop served with mashed sweet potatoes, green beans, bacon fig jam, and bourbon maple demi glace. Desert was Creme Brulee and Lemon Ricotta Cheesecake. Both very good. The staff was attentive and friendly. We would definitely return.

My wife and I were looking for some after dinner cocktails and stumbled upon The Cricket Club. We were invited to seat ourselves at the bar and promptly welcomed by the bartenders. The live music was both well played and set at a very reasonable volume, it was not difficult to talk to my wife next to me or a few of the folks around us. We were thoroughly impressed by the variety in the cocktail menu. It features lots of modern combinations and tending ingredients. There were lots of interesting summer-themed offerings. The bartenders were friendly, knowledgeable, and professional. The drinks were fantastic. We didn’t order food, but it did look appetizing. As the night wound down, we had a great time conversing with the staff and some of the regulars. We can’t wait to visit again. The Cricket Club is a modern and refreshing change of pace from some of the “old guard” restaurants in Cape May. If you’re looking for a watered down Manhattan in an oversized martini glass, this might not be the spot for you. If you’re looking for contemporary, well-made cocktails, this is your place.

Cooked to perfection with fresh asparagus and crispy pancetta bites. The bread basket was devoured. Small side salad to started fresh w/homemade blue cheese dressing. Do not sleep on the decadent Belgian chocolate bread pudding. Best meal in Cape May, by far!

There will always be good and sometimes a great restaurant one finds on vacation. This week I discovered gold and its name is the Cricket Club in Cape May, New Jersey. In a word simply scrumptious! Luscious food, presented beautifully, remarkably complex ingredients that will thrill even the most jaded of taste buds. We entertained friends two nights in a row at the Club and from everything ordered from Spinach and Fig Salad, Crab Cakes, the Club Sandwich to a dreamy, creamy cheesecake was fabulous. Service is warm, attentive, and professional without being stuffy. The menu is extensive, reasonably priced, and given the taste and quality a true bargain. There is nothing not to love about the Cricket Club so be good to yourself and make a reservation. As you can tell from this review I am happy I did!

The Merion Inn, located at 106 Decatur St., at Columbia Avenue, is a historic establishment that offers an elegant Victorian ambiance and live piano music. Originally known as Cafe Collins and established in 1900 by Patrick Collins, it was later renamed The Merion Inn when purchased by Andrew Zillinger in 1905. Over the years, the inn has changed ownership multiple times but has been continuously operational since its inception.

My wife and I regularly visit Cape May and The Merion is a regular stop for us. We like the location, the old school charm of the the bar and lounge area and the adjoining "Pheasant Room". The food quality is always worth the price though the menu rarely changes much. The reason for the rating it's the host/hostess personality and the management of reservations and seating. We made reservations more than a month in advance for a particular table. When we arrived, on time, we were informed that our table was not ready yet. We enjoyed a drink at the bar, listened to the piano player and passed 15 minutes. I checked in with the host and was told the table was just being served it's appetizer. Outrageous! We were eventually given a table far from where we wanted to be. This is not a case of a slow table, but of poor management and service. There are many good things about this restaurant, but the front desk is definitely not one of them.
Danilo M — Google review
The restaurant booked in advance arrived on time, and there were 3 guests waiting for the table in front. The pre-dinner bread has a very good taste of muffin cake. The restaurant has a lot of guests and the waiters are very busy, but still attentive. Our main course is Halibut and Lobster Empire。taste good。

We had a delightful dinner this past Saturday. We had planned the weekend for my birthday. We were cheerfully greeted by Richard at the door and escorted to our table. We both had the local swordfish over gnocchi with a fennel slivered salad, absolutely delicious. The key lime pie for dessert was wonderful, also! We both had perfect martini's in a chilled glass. Excellent! All this, and an accompaniment of a talented piano player in the bar area. The server was efficient and personable, lovely as were the other servers. We ate there last year also. We hope to return in the future.

This place is a really fun night for a couple or a larger party. I always stop here when I'm in Cape May. Great bar and piano player. Very friendly atmosphere. If it's not too busy the bar tender will tell you two jokes for every one you toss up and some of the bar patrons will join in. The piano bar is jazz or standards. You're not going to hear classic rock or later. Perfectly adequate -- and sometimes very good -- food. Pub fare and more refined. Nice dining rooms if you want to sit down to eat at a table instead of the bar. The help are all friendly and nice. Easy going laid back joint. If you're looking for a good time where you'll have great drinks and good food and meet a lot of friendly folks then this is the spot.

My first time impression was not great. I was excited about the piano music & romantic lighting. With reservations I expected a nice table, but my husband & I were sat at the farthest end of the restaurant where I could barely hear the music. When I got up to look around for another place to be seated the place was so packed there was no where to move to. We also had no lamp centerpiece like every other table. I had to ask for one which the nice waitress brought us. And we were sat by a wall that had a spotlight on it so it was obnoxiously bright compared to the romantic ambience the rest of the place. So with an expensive menu where I couldn't enjoy my seat I wasn't thrilled. The food and staff were average. Nothing spectacular for the pricey menu. If I ever go back it would be just to sit at the bar with a drink to be able enjoy the music.

This is one of our favorite restaurants in Cape May. We visit the town once a year, and go to this restaurant easily a few times each trip. It's always packed - very popular place. So sometimes we've had to wait, but always well worth it. The food has always been fantastic, save like one time when a steak was slightly overcooked. The strawberry shortcake dessert is always ordered to share because it is HUGE, but inevitably we get another one because it's so good!! The bar is one of those old school bars with the true professional bartender who's probably been there for years. He creates the best drinks and is just a really nice guy. We always get a great martini here. There's one waiter there who we usually have the luck to get - he's, like the bartender, a true professional. I can't remember his name, but you'll know when you get him. Truly raising the bar for customer service. Can't wait to go back this year!! Highly recommend!!

I am rating a one only because I cannot rate a zero. When I booked our room more than a month in advance, I told the booking service that we had a child. I specifically requested an extra bed for her. When we got to the hotel (after driving two hours) and we were carrying our stuff up to the room, the manager rudely stopped us and told us that our child was not allowed to stay. Worse, the manager was doubly rude when she refused to give us our money back, despite denying us entry to the room we paid for. Please do not waste your money on this horrible hotel. They’re a pack of thieves.

It was our first visit to this restaurant. The staff are very friendly and attentive. The lunch menu was robust, with daily lunch specials. I enjoyed the Nachos Grande with chicken. My wife loved the Baja tacos. Dogtooth is definitely worth a visit.

Dogtooth Bar & Grill is hands down our favorite restaurant in Wildwood—honestly, probably our favorite restaurant of all time. The food, the service, the atmosphere—it’s all top-notch. The grouper sandwich is absolutely amazing and always cooked perfectly. Highly recommend pairing it with the sweet potato fries—especially if you request the horseradish cream sauce on the side (doesn’t automatically come with the fries, but definitely should). We’re also obsessed with the tuna bites and the crabcake with mango salsa—both are super fresh and full of flavor. We’ve eaten here multiple times and have never had a bad meal. One more reason we love Dogtooth: they were so welcoming to our dog! They brought her a bowl of water without us even asking—it’s little touches like that really stand out. Great food, friendly staff, and a chill vibe. It’s a 10/10 every time we visit. Can’t recommend it enough!!!

This was my second time at Dogtooth. The hosts took us right in. The menu was extensive and had a nice variety for everyone to enjoy. Food was delicious! I got the Shore Burger with sweet potato fries and it was cooked perfectly. Nicole, our server, was incredible too! She took our order quickly, and was such a sweet and friendly person that she elevated the overall experience. I personally enjoy bar and grill type restaurants, and this is my absolute favorite in all of New Jersey. Definitely will come back!!!

1st time here. Parking was unknown to us so we drove around longer than needed. We found a few park & pay stations nearby. We walked up and waited about 10 min then were seated for dinner. The menu provided a good selection. The waiter was nice and helpful. Good selection of beer. Prices were appropriate for the type and dinner. A talented musician who also sang was fun for a Saturday night. I had the fluke stuffed with crab. I nearly locked the plate. We'll be back.

Highly recommend Dogtooth Bar and Grill. Don't know why we waited so long to go. Lobster rolls are generous and yummy. Check out specials such as a blackened shrimp spinach salad with tons of bacon and tomatoes and more Huge and Good! Soup are thick. Take out does not skimp.

Crest Tavern, also known as Fitzpatricks Crest Tavern, is a laid-back bar that offers a wide selection of American food and beverages. In addition to being a popular spot for enjoying local craft beers and catching the game on multiple TVs, it also operates as a liquor store and souvenir shop. The cozy atmosphere and exceptional service make it an ideal place to unwind with friends or family while indulging in classic bar foods with unique twists.
Went for dinner short wait but worth it. Tavern for all ages. Compared to eating at the boardwalk Crest has great food and doesn't rob you! Husband had a burger which was good, cooked well with a mountain of nicely done fries. I had corned beef special which was piled high and delicious. Give them a try you won't be disappointed! Shout out to the hostess and our server Orly who were both pleasant and friendly!

Our server was Logan. Excellent service, thank you, Logan. We remembered that Logan was working here last year. Food was satisfying. I had the blackened Mahi Mahi tacos, nice seasoning, perfectly cooked fish, and topped with shredded veggies and cheese. My husband had the roast beef supreme sandwich. It was a hearty portion of thinly sliced beef topped with bacon and provolone on a large roll. We definitely recommend it. Relaxed, friendly vibe.

Restaurant Review: Disappointing Experience I recently dined at Crest Tavern and unfortunately, it was not a pleasant experience. From the moment we arrived, the atmosphere felt off, starting with the hostess who greeted us with an unenthusiastic demeanor. It was as if she was less than thrilled to see customers, which set a negative tone for the evening. As for the food, it was a real letdown. My son ordered a plain burger, and it was unevenly cooked—some parts were overdone while others were barely cooked. It’s hard to understand how a simple burger could go so wrong. I opted for the shrimp scampi, hoping for a comforting dish, but what I received was a soupy, watery mess. The shrimp were overshadowed by an overwhelming amount of sauce that lacked flavor and consistency. It felt more like a poorly executed soup than a hearty pasta dish. Overall, the lack of attention to detail in both the food and service was disappointing. I had high hopes for a nice dining experience, but this visit left much to be desired. I won’t be returning, and I can’t recommend this restaurant based on my experience.

I got a Philly steak hoagie with onions and mushrooms, the meat was cold, the onions and mushrooms weren't cooked with the steak or barely cooked at all. The fries were amazing.

Our second time here. Woman at the front is equal parts sweet and surly. She can be gruff! Outside bar was nice and we enjoyed the live music. Inside isn't anything to get excited about. The food was basic but good. We had the blackened steak salad and the Crest chicken sandwich. Our server was pleasant and attentive.

Food is great, I look forward to their steamers with bread for dipping all year long! Low key, casual place with an indoor and open air bar. Everyone who works there I've come across is very nice!

Ordered a bowl of soup with a roll. The roll was stale and should have been thrown out. I ate 1/4 of the roll dipping it in the soup broth to make it edible. When the bill came they charged $3.50 for one stale roll! When I complained the bartender said oh well! Poor customer service all around from the kitchen person who sent out the stale roll to the bartender who said oh well! Long time customer who is totally dissatisfied.
Chris F — Google review
I have been an owner of a condo in the Crest for 10 years now and had never tried this place, ( and should have never tried it). But people would tell me it was pretty good, NOT! The service was terrible, never got some things we were supposed to, and the waitress was so forgetful. Now for the food, that was worse than the service. Then to top it off, they charge you 3% for using your credit card. I know the locals and lifers love the place , but trust me, it isn't worth going to.

Nestled along the picturesque shores of Delaware Bay, Harpoons on the Bay in North Cape May is a vibrant waterfront destination that perfectly captures the essence of coastal dining. With its stunning views and inviting atmosphere, this spot offers an extensive menu featuring delicious seafood sandwiches and classic American fare. The craft beer selection is impressive, showcasing local favorites from breweries like Cape May and Backward Flag, alongside well-known brands for those who prefer something different.
Harpoons has a great location by the bay. Very beautiful especially in the evenings. Food wise, it’s pretty good. Not the best I’ve ever had but I’d say it’s above average. Only real complaint is the ceaser salad could 100% use more dressing. The parking lot is fairly small but there is plenty of off street parking. Wait times can get long as well. I got here around 5pm with about a 15 minute wait, as we were leaving the wait was about 1 hour plus.
Michael — Google review
We've been to Harpoons numerous times (as evidenced by the hubby's tee shirt collection) its always been excellent. We decided to try the brunch offerings. It was not crowded but there was a craft show in town...we scored a table overlooking the beach access across the street. Nice well rounded menu....hits all the high spots. I heard the sausage gravy over biscuits was delish. Our server was attentive. It's pretty much a covered outdoor venue and it draws a crowd and has 2 separate seating areas for the canine clientele....if you go for dinner the sunsets are a million dollar view.

CAPE MAY: Harpoons on the Bay is an awesome beach bar with stunning views of the Delaware Bay and leashed and friendly dogs are allowed in designated outdoor areas. We happened to visit on their last day of the 2024 season and it was a packed house with people watching football, taking in the ocean breeze, and savoring a meal and drink. With a menu of American-inspired food for lunch & dinner, and brunch on the weekends, a large cocktail menu, wine list, and an extensive beer list, there is something for everyone at this happening restaurant. Open from about March-October.

Going in, this place was very promising and my expectations were very high. It’s a very cute restaurant right near the beach. However, I am disappointed at the end of the night. After ordering, the food took around 50 minutes to come out which it was busy so it is fine. Then there was a fly that was pestering me and my family the entire time we were eating. I would understand it if we were outside but we were in an enclosed area that you have to go through double doors to get to. The food was good but not meeting or exceeding expectations. The waitress was very very kind and checked in often which was very appreciated. Overall, I think I would’ve rated it 3 stars but they had good live music playing and a caricature artist so that makes up the fourth star.

Great staff. Great food. Great beer selection. Be prepared to wait, but ist lovely and worth it. Plus on the right night you see amazing sunsets.
Tommy B — Google review
My husband, in-laws, and I had a comically bad experience at Harpoons on the Bay. We waited for over an hour, which I don't blame the restaurant for - it was peak summer season and we were prepared to wait - but when we were finally seated we were led to a cavernous dining room area in the back of the restaurant that was practically empty. Why were we and dozens of other customers being made to wait when there were plenty of tables available? Was the restaurant that badly understaffed? What's worse, the dining room was swarming with flies! We spent the entire meal batting flies from our faces and food. Not pleasant. My husband ordered the Fish of the Day special for his entree. When it arrived, the piece of fish was smaller than a toddler's palm. The busboy who brought us our food must have seen the shock on our faces, because no sooner had he set down the plate did he offer to take it back to the kitchen. He returned the plate to us with another small piece added to the original. Unfortunately, the dish was not worth the wait - my husband described it as the saltiest piece of fish he'd ever eaten, and I agree. We both appreciate well-seasoned food, but this was close to inedible. We complained to our server, but a manager was never sent our way. This was such a disappointing end to an otherwise lovely Cape May vacation. We enjoyed the crushes we ordered while we waited for our table as well as the view from the bar overlooking the bay, but these positive elements could not make up for an overall poor dinner experience. We will not return.

C-View Inn, located in Cape May, is the oldest tavern in the area and a favorite among locals. Despite its lack of windows, it offers a cozy atmosphere to enjoy local flavors and drinks. The establishment is known for its excellent wings with various sauce options and a selection of beverages including Cape May IPA. Although some may consider it a dive bar, it holds historical significance dating back to the mid-1800s when it was known as the Harbor House.
This place is the best that Cape May has to offer when it comes to a economic restaurant with good food. Decorated like an old-time Irish pub, it offers a variety of good American food combined with seafood dishes. They have a vast variety of wines, beers and liquors and the service is spectacular. Brianna, our waitress, was super fast, efficient and friendly. A combination that can rarely be found in services. In short, C-View Inn may not be a fancy place, but in my humble opinion, if you want to have a good time enjoying a good meal without having to pay an arm and a leg for it, this is the best you can find for miles around. Note: You HAVE to try the lobster bisque!!!

Very busy night and a short wait. The hostess was pleasant, but the waitress, not so much. She seemed annoyed to have to wait on us from the moment we sat down. The food was good, and very reasonable priced. It was very hot out that day. Temps were in the 90’s all week so it was pretty steamy inside the restaurant. We all finished our drinks very quickly. The waitress never asked if we’d like more. When I finally flag her down to ask, she again was annoyed and once the bill arrived, we discovered that there are no complimentary refills on soda. That seems absurd considering it was so hot in there. At least offer some water. Who wants to eat without a drink. Although it’s could be a great little spot to go, I’d choose somewhere else that would provide a more pleasant experience.

Busy spot on the corner of the building. Came on slider night but I was not a fan of the burgers. The wings were really good. Hot Honey Garlic was my choice. The steak sandwich was ordered and another family member liked it. Plenty of beer on tap and place gets crowded quick. Negative feedback, the stairs are steep coming down. If you are not careful you will eat the cement. I’ve heard multiple people falling and I’ve witnessed it happen in front of me.

We were here Friday for lunch. It shouldn't have taken 5 minutes to get our drinks with only 8 other patrons. Our food arrived in reasonable time. Delicious as expected! My issue comes from the wait staff. Our waitress never once asked if our food was okay despite passing us at least a dozen times. My wife needed a sharp knife to cut her meal but we were treated as tho we were invisible. We could have used another drink but, again, we were ignored. I suggest that you don't wait until you deliver the bill to ask if we want anything else. Don't get me wrong, I tipped but definitely not as much as I normally would have. I am seriously considering only getting carryout from this point forward.

After looking on Google for somewhere to eat before touring the town we decided to stop here. Greg the owner saw my daughter was upset and not cooperating to the point where we almost left. He came outside, helped calm her down, gave her a pink bracelet to match her outfit and we managed to be able to go in and enjoy a great meal! I highly recommend the buffalo chicken pizza! It was awesome!

Nestled in Cape May, Magic Brain Cafe has been a beloved local haunt since 2001. This cozy wood-clad coffee shop is renowned for its diverse selection of coffee drinks, including the elusive frappuccino. While seating is limited, the snug ambiance encourages patrons to linger over their favorite brews. A popular spot for both locals and tourists, it's advisable to brace for potential lines during peak hours.

Favorite cafe in Cape May!! We come back multiple times throughout our trip every year just to hang and get a drink. It’s such a cute vibe with amazing service. The matcha pistachio latte is the best matcha I’ve ever had!!! We’ll keep coming back every year! 🍵
Carly E — Google review
This is my absolute favorite coffee shop in Cape May. Everything from the coffee to the pastries is the highest quality, but the prices are very reasonable. They make their matcha latte from powder, not pour it from a box, so it tastes fresh and full of flavor; the coffee is smooth, aromatic and nuanced. Everyone who works here is super nice and they do a fantastic job remembering return customers. Though there are many places in Cape May to get coffee or a sweet treat, I come here for both. Their croissant is the best I have ever had and their oatmeal raisin cookie is so scrumptious and I don't even like oatmeal raisin cookies! The atmosphere is cozy and inviting and never too loud or too crowded, and there is a palatable sense of community when you visit here.

The Boiler Room at Congress Hall is a cozy underground eatery and music club that offers brick-oven pizzas, pub fare, and artisanal cocktails. Located inside the historic Congress Hall, it serves farm-fresh salads and signature pizzas made with ingredients from Beach Plum Farm. The establishment also hosts events like Halloween parties with DJ entertainment, dance floors, costume contests, and giveaways.
Reviewers are ridiculous. This is not a sit down family restaurant. Cape May has some of the finest dining anywhere within walking distance. Why you would come here for a plate of pasta is beyond me. Its a dark, dingy basement afterhours club. If you expect any thing more you will be disappointed. If you know where you are going, you will have a great time. Food is good to mediocre, drinks are strong, music is loud.

Super fun and underground feel, with a little 90s and 2000s alternative and classic hits playing. Come here for the pizza and drinks and leave stuffed and happy! We did the arugula and prosciutto for one, and the soppressata and capicola pizza for the other. Deliciously sweet and salty mix, with outstanding flavor in dough and sauce. Cooked brick oven style to perfection. Highly recommend getting a spot in this cozy location, the earlier the better. Hands down, the best pizza in Cape May.

I had an excellent time here. My drinks were exceptional and the vibe is perfect for the summer. My bartender Zak stood out as not only professional but extremely friendly, and knowledgeable. As someone who works as a bartender myself, People like him create regulars. I’ll definitely be back!

We stopped into the Boiler Room at Congress Hall and overall had a mixed experience. The space itself is very cool—tucked away downstairs with lots of TVs around the bar and a unique, hidden vibe. The bartender was excellent—super friendly and attentive. It can be chilly inside though, so I’d recommend bringing a jacket. Where things fell short was with the table service. I arrived ahead of my wife and mom, had a glass of wine, and asked our server if it was possible to switch a TV to the US Open men’s championship. She said she’d ask a manager, but after that I sat for about 30 minutes with an empty glass without anyone checking back in, despite managers walking by several times. Eventually I had to go to the bar myself for another drink. Later, when my wife joined me, she also went to the bar for her drink. At that point, the server asked (more than once) whether we were going to keep ordering at the bar or through her. The way it was asked came off more rude than helpful, which left us feeling unwelcome. After finishing our drinks, we decided to leave and head elsewhere. The Boiler Room has a lot going for it—the setting is fun, and the bar staff is great—but our table service experience really missed the mark and made it hard to want to stay longer.

Mediocre pizza, expensive drinks, average service. The shining spot was the Ceasar salad was delicious and it did have a nice vibe/atmosphere. They have a limited menu and focus is on the pizza. You would think it would be a much better product. But alas to each his own, this was just one persons opinion.

***4 1/2 stars*** Boiler Room was the one place I really wanted to go during our recent Cape May debauchery weekend, pretty much entirely because it looked like it was literally in a boiler room and the food appeared to be at least edible. I'm high maintenance, but not at all. This was our first official stop for dinner this past Friday night. After being dropped off at Congress Hall by a friendly Uber driver (who reaffirmed this as a recommendation during the drive), we made our way into the building and found this place fairly easily. For any of the businesses within Congress Hall, there are numerous signs throughout with arrows pointing in the direction of said establishments. You will be stunned to learn that one of the arrows for Boiler Room pointed down into the basement, where we were promptly shown a table a few feet from the island bar. As an aside, all of Congress Hall was pretty spiffy/historic, and we would have had zero issue lingering after dinner at one of the other establishments if it hadn't been so crowded. As expected, the interior was a lot of fun to look at. It's sort of grimy but VERY intentional; it's like a gentrified unfinished basement. There's a lot of exposed stonework, but not like foofy English garden walls - it literally looks like you took a chisel to your own basement and got rid of the plaster. There was also a small DJ/dance area off to the side that presumably got pretty rocking after my bedtime. Lot of fun. Our waiter was a delight. Admittedly the service WAS a bit sluggish to start off (and to be fair, it seemed chaotic/busy initially), but he redeemed himself pretty quickly. He looked like a poor man's Eddie Redmayne and was very charming/friendly. Beyond that initial wait, I don't think there was any other point during the adventure where we were actively looking around for him. The orders were relayed promptly and correctly. I also of course forgot my credit card at the table, and he rushed over to us by the exit with it and rescued me from what would undoubtedly have been a very annoying Saturday morning. I had diligently been chugging 120 ounces of water a day for the prior week, so I had no qualms about perusing the cocktail menu immediately. I went with Lavender & Lemon ($14), which came as zero surprise to my dining companions, who have been down this road with me before (I have a floral beverage weakness). I'm not crazy about the citrus family, but this is definitely an exception - the lavender complemented and ultimately negated a lot of the lemon for me, and the sparkling wine gave it a nice kick. I had two and easily could have convinced myself to get a third if we had lingered a bit longer. We split the meatball app ($10) and a few pizzas, though I stayed true to the pepperoni ($16). I'm not usually crazy about getting toppings, but the pepperoni was strongly recommended by prior reviewers and deservedly so. The pepperoni had a nice smoky char to it, and was the only one of three pizzas not to survive the night. The bathrooms were...interesting. One of my chums came back commenting that it reminded her of a Macy's dressing room, which I can't really argue with. The bathroom stall doors are slatted so it DOES feel a little exposed, but you'd have to be a really creative peeping tom to do any damage there. The stalls themselves are pretty small but allow for just enough space for a personal sink, which I thought was a nice touch. There aren't a lot of basements I'd go out of my way to eat in, but this is one of them. Strong recommend.
EE G — Google review
Solid choice for brick oven pizza and salads. Plenty of TVs and a lively scene. The bar was busy, but the wait for food and drinks was quick. The space is cool - it's the basement level under Congress Hall.

This place deserves a 0 . We ordered 2 apps meatballs and pasta. Meatballs came out ice cold , and the waitress exchanged it and they tasted like ikea meatballs with awful tomato sauce.. then we order a margarita pizza and special pizza . They should have fresh mozzarella but instead had shredded cheese and very salty , sauce is awful. THIS IS NOT PIZZA.. after all that our pasta app came it was the worst I ever had in my life..whoever gives this place a positive review doesn't know food. 1st and last time we go there..

My husband and I looked this place up and tried to go for a drink as it had good reviews. We sat there unwelcome and unattended by two bartenders who ignored us and did not say hello or can I help you for about 10 minutes. It was not busy. A different guest who they knew came up and got helped right away while we were still sitting there so we left. We love Cape May but this was a terrible experience and we wouldn’t recommend it due to the service

I’ve heard this is a cool bar but it’s often not open according to its hours and even when it is you often can’t figure out how to get a drink. Maybe if you’re staying at the Chalfonte it’s worth trying to get a drink but otherwise there are plenty of places in cape May where you can much more easily exchange money for a drink.

The Brown Room at Congress Hall is a luxurious and historic lounge in Cape May, offering classic cocktails and a chic ambiance. The 206-year-old hotel reopens in mid-February after winter holidays, inviting visitors to experience its refined setting with lavish artwork, a grand fireplace, and a circular bar. Guests can savor drinks like the Congress Hall Perfect Manhattan or Blackberry Ramble while enjoying the elegant Prohibition-era lounge atmosphere.
The Brown Room is a classy bar inside Congress Hall with a timeless feel. Bartenders in white jackets and black ties set the tone, and the space itself has a touch of speakeasy charm—without having to track it down. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, with velvet couches, a half-circle bar, and live music that makes it feel like you’re enjoying cocktails right in your own living room. On weekends, the vibe is especially lively. I had their Old Fashioned 🥃 and it was perfectly balanced and delicious. Creative custom drinks, great ambiance, and a touch of elegance—The Brown Room is definitely worth a stop.

The Brown Room is an excellent, well designed cocktail bar that used to be among my favorite bars anywhere but definitely the best in Cape May. When I first started coming here years ago you needed a reservation and there was an element of exclusivity which enhanced the experience. It was a relaxing top tier atmosphere with live music and excellent cocktails. They seem to have significantly softened on the reservation / entry policies and the place has become a free for fall. Tons of kids at times which I don’t feel is appropriate for this setting- all the other dining areas in Congress Hall are much more kid friendly. It’s often too crowded and they seem to have done away with reservations altogether even for Congress Hall guests which I can’t understand. The cocktails are still great as are the bartenders and the live entertainment but the overall experience has been really disappointing of late. I would really consider going back to a reservation based system and having some level of crowd control.

Always a nice time in the Brown Room! Although it's very hard to get in, we sometimes get lucky & get seats. I love listening to the music, enjoying a cocktail & sometimes something to eat. Recently I enjoyed the cheese/charcuterie plate. Service is good. I remember this place used to take reservations & they no longer do. Perhaps they should go back to that so that everyone gets a chance to get in there as some people camp out there for hours! The interior is so lovely!

We brought friends here on two occasions and the bartender (woman with dark hair) was on with one other guy and the bar was packed and it was impossible to get a drink. We have been so disappointed in what used to be an upscale experience. It has really gone downhill. They do not have enough help at all. Forget about coming on the night of the Christmas Tree Lighting. It was wall to wall people and every bar (inside and out) had 30-40 people in line trying to get a drink. The restrooms had 15-20 people waiting in line. It was not enjoyable at all. We ending up leaving and went to Fins to have a nice drink.

Bar was excellent!! Live music & bartender, Sandy? I think her name was’ super nice! Told us about the boiler room- my fiancé and I had a great time!

We stopped in the Brown Room for a quick bite to eat and a couple of cocktails. We arrived at brunch time, and didn't want to wait for the full restaurant, so we slipped in here, and we were not disappointed!! Fantastic cocktails, and delicious lobster rolls!! Highly recommend a visit!

Had a great time relaxing by the fire I'm the brown room. Comfortable seating and life music really set the mood. Had some delicious Old Fashioneds and my wife enjoyed the apple pie

Phenomenal drinks and the setting is top tier. Make sure you stop by and grab you an evening beverage. Picked both of these from the brown room originals menu and they were both top tier.

Mooncussers is a laid-back and low-key local spot located on the marina, offering a relaxed atmosphere away from the popular tourist spots. The place features live music, delicious food trucks, and a full bar with an outdoor covered area suitable for all weather. Visitors can enjoy ice-cold drinks, excellent service, and a Key West vibe while mingling with friendly staff and locals.
Loved this place. Perfect marina atmosphere, great personable bartenders (Shawla especially) very reasonable drink prices, good music, and great food from the food truck! Mature friendly crowd which we appreciated. Had a great time! Coming back soon!

Fun place!! Outdoor patio bar with food trucks and live music. At the far end of the area there are fire pits with Adirondack chairs, you can hear the music but also hear your friends talk.

Had a birthday get together. The manager Dave was awesome, reserved a few tables for us and allowed us to keep the cake in the cooler so it wouldn't melt all over! The servers and bartenders were great as well! Thanks you for helping us create a great memory!

Absolutely great place to hang out, bartenders are awesome, drinks always cold, love the live music. What I appreciate is the owner is always walking around making sure everyone is enjoying there experiences.

Nice outdoor bar on a marina with food trucks. There is a patio area and an area on ground level. The food truck was fabulous - Hit the Road Jack - the tacos are gourmet level. Drink service, however, is lame - no bartender knew the name or style of the beers, they were only listed by brewery.

Early dinner and the live music by south Jersey band Garnet Rising was great! Very friendly staff and fast service. Nice selections of drinks from their bar stations situated about their outdoor deck. Food is by food truck vendors which varies so you can check out their changing menus...order at the trucks and they can bring your food to wherever you may be seated. A great experience, recommended!

We've been going to Cape May for 35+ years. This is our new favorite bar. The bartenders were super attentive and had great personalities. The drink prices are very reasonable, they don't use crappy bar well alcohol. Tons of seating, cool vibe. Met lots of fun people. Even the ladies in the swag hut were hilarious. Cannot wait to go again. Two good food trucks too. I wouldn't change a thing, except move it close to my house.

Great outdoor spot. Two bars, plenty of tables. Bar staff engaging and attentive. Live music and food trucks, what more do you need at the Shore? TVs for ballgames, they have those too.
