Live music venue
The Red Hat Amphitheater in Raleigh is a state-of-the-art venue with a seating capacity of 5,000, set to undergo significant changes as part of an expansion project for the Raleigh Convention Center. The city has approved a $40 million plan to relocate the amphitheater just one block south of its current location and increase its capacity to accommodate up to 6,000 people.
Really nice concert venue. Clean, large facilities, free water stations and great views even on the lawn. Booze is kinda insane, but what concert doesn't have overpriced alcohol. Pro tip: you canNOT bring your own seating, and if you do, you will either be made to take it all the way back to your vehicle or chance fate by leaving it in the planters out front. Looked like you could bring a beach towel, but if you want a chair on the lawn, it's gonna cost you $20.
Hunter H — Google review
It was an alright venue. The best part was the VIP seating as it had comfy couches, but for $50, I would've hoped it included a free drink. It did not. The show I saw here got pushed back due to rain, and they forced the artists to cut their setlists down. With no partial refund and no way to make that up to concert goers, it left a bad taste in my mouth. I also had to pay $10 for a clear bag as this venue has a clear bag policy for purses over a certain size. Honestly, go with an indoor venue if you can if you're seeing a concert because this isn't it.
Cari B — Google review
The Red Hat is more intimate than Coastal Credit Union. The downtown location was easy to access and I was able to find free street parking. Even in row FF Section 3 I was able to see the stage well, even after seats filled.
Tee R — Google review
Raleigh in general turned out to be a great time. Although we got rained on hours before the show, Red Hat came together and made the show happen. With a little good timing, the show went on and all the bands played. Not to mention my seat was dried off! Nice touch, my date and I had a great time and was a success. 🍻
Austin H — Google review
Smaller than most of the other Raleigh venues I've been to, but definitely open to returning. the livenation employees were so much nicer here, food was good, drinks were great even if the lines did get a bit long as the night went on... and in regards to bathrooms, i give it a 10/10
Nikki S — Google review
Good sound, Good vendors, Good restrooms. But outdated seating, no were to rest your drink when seating. Dated red hat banners hanging. It's a good thing that Red Hat is moving..Hopefully the new area will be made to look like 2025 standards.. and not like 2010 standards.
Kevin — Google review
great outdoor stage. the bathrooms were clean but drinks are very expensive. $17 for a tall boy! overall great time!
Austin L — Google review
saw big thief here a couple days ago. the security and ticket scanning process was easy, bathrooms were clean (although a bit too hot) and getting to our seats was easy! sound was great, venue felt very safe, and despite being big it felt intimate and comfortable. would love to see another show here sometime :]

2September & Co.

September & Co. is a must-visit independent music event that takes place in the heart of Raleigh, known for its lineup of over 120 performers across 10 downtown venues. The festival features headlining acts like Pavement, Japanese Breakfast, Margo Price, and Denzel Curry. Additionally, Hootie & the Blowfish will be performing at Raleigh's Coastal Credit Union Music Park as part of their first tour since 2019. On another note, September & Co.
Okay so I found sept & co about 9 months ago and I cannot express how much this company has worked their butts off to improve every single day! Their shipping times have drastically improved, most in stock items now ship same day! The quality of their products are amazing and are reasonably priced. They have outrageously good sale, pretty often! And the staff... they are literally all AMAZING! I will admit there have been a few mistakes with some of the orders I’ve placed; however, they literally bend over backwards to fix the mistake, quickly, every single time! For a small, growing, business you really cannot pick a better company to support. I am embarrassed to admit just how many orders I have placed in the last nine months and will remain a loyal customer forever!
Carley M — Google review
I ordered nearly 3 months ago and went back and forth with employees the entire time. They never had an answer as to when my order would ship, sent and email stating they had no idea, and then they just stopped responding altogether. Their policy states they will credit your account if the delivery goes outside of the promised time frame but that did not happen. Employees and owner are rude and difficult. I filed a case with PayPal to get my money back last week and mysteriously my package shows up within the week. Sizing and quality are terrible! I ordered two items in the same size and one is incredibly small and one is incredibly big. The shirt is see through, stitching is off, a complete waste of money and time. I think it goes without saying that I will never purchase anything from this "boutique" again. They are dishonest and you probably will never receive your order.
Lailani J — Google review
I was excited to see the semi-annual sale because I had been wanting to order things for a while. I am not plus size, but my body type makes me self conscious how “boutique“ clothing can look on me. I ordered a few swimsuits, a pair of shorts, a lounge set, and earrings. They came and seemed like pretty good quality. Only one of the swimsuits didn’t fit even after sizing up. Christmas in July sale got posted and I decided to order a few more things. After receiving those items, I felt like the quality reminded me of a cheaply made/priced website. I went to looking and MANY of the same items that I had seen on/purchased from Sept & Co were on this website too, but the Sept & Co prices were double/triple the price. It would have been different had the quality had been better from Sept & Co, but it felt the same as the items from the other website. The pro is that Sept & Co has a much faster shipping time, but I just hate that the price/quality is the same as the cheaper website.
Elizabeth E — Google review
I placed two orders on May 9th, one for tanks tops and one for swimsuits during a sale that offered a free swim skirt with purchase of two swim suits. After waiting two months, during which I moved and promptly communicated that I had moved and needed the shipping address to be changed, I finally got a shipping notification for the swim suits order, and it was shipped to the wrong address. I contacted the company and they offered to order me new swim suits and ship it out. I declined and said I would pick up in store and asked for my tank tops to be held as well once they arrived. By the time I got a phone call to come pick up it was the beginning of August. I arrived in store to pick up and while my tank tops were present, the girl working had the wrong swimsuits for me and there was no swim skirt. I politely asked for a refund since I already had purchased other swimsuits for the summer while waiting and was told there were no refunds but they would give me store credit. I honestly just wanted my money back for all of it at this point but as a small business owner myself it is always my first instinct to be understanding and supportive so I took the store credit. I was then told that store credit could only be used on in stock items. The in stock items list included very little in my sizes but I eventually settled on some things and went to place my order on August 2nd, and was charged for shipping even though I had already paid shipping TWICE for two orders that were never shipped to me. It is now September 11th and none of my replacement items have arrived, which seems strange to me since I was limited to only items that the company already had in store, it should have taken no more than a week. So at this point in time I have spent $141.76, made the hour drive to and then the hour drive from the boutique to pick up myself after shipping failed and waited patiently since the beginning of May and all I have to show for it is one tank top, because of the two I ordered only one was sized appropriately. I honestly just want my money back and at this point it truly feels like theft and I don’t expect to ever receive items equal to the dollar value I have spent. I absolutely will never do business with September & Co again nor will I recommend them to any of my friends. I’ve offered communication and plenty of time to correct the negligent service I’ve received but the lack of communication and organization is absolutely unacceptable and I strongly warn against ordering here if you hope to receive your items in a timely manner. Edit to add: Since the time of placing this review the store owner has made the effort to reach out and apologize for the miscommunications her staff has had and has offered me additional store credits to make up for the frustrations involved in the entire situation. I truly appreciate her taking the time and effort so I’ve given additional stars to my review but do still warn that this company is going through growing pains and patience will be needed if you plan to order.
Kayla P — Google review
I have been following September and Co for awhile now and in January I finally ordered some preorder items. After waiting a few months and still no order, I called their customer service. Immediately the person I spoke to was apologetic and said they had just recieved my items except for one. She offered me a store credit or another size, I opted for another size and my items will be arriving on Monday! I was super happy with how professional everything was handled and can't wait to order again soon!
Elizabeth L — Google review
I was told about September & Co from a friend and gave it a chance. I am so glad I did! You have pushed me on clothes and shoes I would have never have worn and I only hear compliments from family, friends and even strangers about the items I buy. I am even encouraged with items that she knows would look good on me that I would likely not even look at buying. The customer service and the absolute experience every time I shop with Sept & Co is top notch. Everything is adorable ! Everyone is always so sweet and helpful. I have now been a customer for almost 5 years, and my place to shop is here and the family always knows where to get me gift cards. LOVE THIS STORE!
Lisa F — Google review
My favorite thing about this company is that they are honest. As a long time shopper I can truly say that I have never contact Katie or her staff and not gotten incredible service. Katie continually has evolved and improved the companies policies and buying trends based off of customer feedback all while producing quality clothes that she herself and her staff proudly wear as well. As a customer I know that my business is valued and that is felt every time I walk through the doors. I am proud to shop and support September and Company and will continue to support such an amazing "small" but incredible business.
Brittany H — Google review
First, I really love this place! I've seen a lot of reviews about issues with shipping and this has happened to me. My stuff has been delayed through no fault of theirs and I've experienced it with other boutiques and even places like amazon. With my last issue, I received multiple coupons for 25-30% off my purchase during my wait, and the owner Katie herself even called me on my cell to explain the cause and apologize. I was given free gifts for my inconvenience, I felt that both Katie and Candy truly cared and wanted to make it right. As I said in my last review, I can only think of 1 or 2 other stores that truly have customer service like this and care about the customer and if they're happy. This is hands down one of my favorite places to shop!

We purchased during the pandemic and dealt with several supply chain delays, and quite frankly a builder that just didnt care! It was not easy to navigate the “new” home buying process, or our emotions; but January was up for the challenge. She did a great job keeping us informed and Calm with her straightforward and transparent approach. January keeps in touch with us to date. Amazing experience at this nature based venue. Me and my wife were very impressed with everything from ease of parking to how beautiful the venue was. The show was amazing and even with lawn seats we were so close. This will be our venue of choice!

Great venue! We visited for the Chinese Lantern Festival and really enjoyed the show. Plenty of parking available, very friendly staff checking in/scanning tickets and running security. After entering, we purchased some food and drinks- all actually reasonably priced for an event space. I got a canned bubbly wine for $10 and we also got some onion rings and apple pie dumplings. Nice to be able to fill up without spending an arm and a leg. The light displays and live performances were great too, very entertaining. I would definitely recommend the lantern festival and I'd come here for a concert too!
Dee B — Google review
Our second and third show here we showed up much earlier so the trees weren’t in our view as pictured. Getting to be in the pines was magic (and smelled amazing.) Loved being able to bring our own chairs to the lawn! Small purses allowed. Curious turtles in the pond by the smoking section. Shuttles to the gate from the back of the parking lot were readily available! The last star isn’t there because of how incredibly long it took the line to move to get inside… definitely the kind of place you want to show up to with plenty of time.

Koka Booth Ampitheatre is my absolute favorite concert venue in the Triangle. There is something so magical about sitting under the stars and soaring pines while listening to the extraordinary music of some of the most talented artists in the world! I highly recommend Koka Booth to any music lover!

The experience was absolutely amazing! It was my first time attending a Chinese Lantern Festival, and it far exceeded my expectations. The lantern displays were incredibly detailed and beautifully crafted, showcasing a level of artistry that was truly stunning. On top of that, the festival did an excellent job of introducing traditional Chinese culture. The performances were fantastic, and the Sichuan face-changing act left a lasting impression. It was a perfect blend of art, culture, and entertainment!

Absolutely worth a visit. Our party of four bought our tickets in advance for the 4:30 entrance on Sunday, December 1, 2024. We arrived at the parking lot around 4:15. The crowds were light. We watched the first show which was amazing. Thank goodness we bundled up so we were comfortable. We left the park around 6:30 and had no problem with traffic. However, there was lots of traffic coming into the park.
Cindy M — Google review
Love this venue! Every year there are always 1-2 artists or events that are relevant to my taste. I highly recommend but make sure you plan enough time for parking. Not always the easiest for certain shows. John Legend show was very difficult for parking, whereas the Chinese Lantern Festival had no issues at all.

Dorothea Dix Park, located in the heart of downtown Raleigh, spans a massive 308 acres and offers a variety of outdoor activities for visitors. The park features rolling hills, shade trees, and stunning views of the city skyline. Visitors can enjoy picnics, bike riding, soccer matches, yoga sessions, and more. Additionally, the park hosts regular events and festivals. A visitor center housed within a restored 100-year-old cottage provides information to guests.
As a family and senior photographer in Raleigh, I love this gem of a park! The wide open spaces, tall grasses, and skyline views create the dreamiest backdrop—especially during golden hour. I love how versatile it is for both senior and family photo sessions. There's always something blooming or a new angle to capture, which keeps it feeling fresh and inspiring every time I’m there.

A beautiful place to be at with family! A sea of beautiful sunflowers in full bloom facing the sun, it was a sight to be behold. And then on the other side of field of other mixed variety of flowers. Beautiful Park, along with the hammocks between the trees and plenty of shade under the trees I loved it. It gets really hot and the best time to go would be the earliest you can. Plenty of parking and other amenities, such as bathrooms.

Dix Park is a huge area where everyone can find something to enjoy — from nature lovers to art fans, or families with kids. The park itself is beautiful, but I especially want to highlight the playground area. It’s one of the best we’ve ever seen! It’s very large and divided into sections for different age groups. The design feels like a real piece of art made for play, exercise, and discovery. My son spent an hour just in the water mill area! We were really impressed by how many different things kids can do and learn there.

I absolutely love every part of this park! They're is something for everyone!! I have been 3 times in the last 3 months. This place is perfectly crafted. The splash pad, the play area, the mirror maze, the sand pit, the water works area, the kiddie obstacle course. I love how they have kept several of the wild flower areas. The store is cute and quaint. I liked the selection of snacks they have. The Trolls are a cherry on top!! Don't walk, but run to this place and bring the whole family, young to old.

Gorgeous but caution to those who have mobility restrictions or trouble with walking up steep dirt/rocky terrain. Maybe 25-30 feet but it is the only entrance/exit to get to the tall vast area of sunflowers. Small area with short sunflowers and wildflowers in front of parking lot. Still beautiful though. Cannot use wheelchairs/walkers or any kind of vehicles up and down the steep hill.

Awesome park there is so much here. They have big fields trails hammocks flower forests. It is all amazing they have giant trolls made of wood that you go around and look at. It has great views of downtown raleigh. I definitely recommend coming to Dix Park its beautiful with plenty to do. They have a dog park playgrounds and many more. My favorite it so to have a picnic and then relax in the hammocks while enjoying the nature around you.

So many vendors. It seems like this has grown over the past 10 years. The DJ was spinning...The bands were jamming and the people were everywhere! It was amazing. So many vendors with lots of goods. I am already looking forward to next year....and the second Afrochella... It was like a smorgasbord of African American culture.

June Tailor & Cleaners is a fantastic place in Raleigh that offers top-notch tailoring and dry cleaning services. Customers have praised their excellent work on alterations, including fixing zippers and hemming dresses. The staff, particularly Mark, has been commended for their friendly and helpful service, especially with making young customers feel comfortable during the measurements process. Despite a slight delay in service, June and her team were gracious and made sure to rectify the situation.
Had a last minute dry cleaning for a shirt & suit. The lady was helpful & I was able to have it cleaned in about 36 hours. Thank you for your assistance & friendliness. I greatly appreciative.

I recently found out that this place could alter my suits so instead of going to tailor shops that are far away. It’s nice to know that there’s a convenient one here in Knightdale.

I think June was or is the owner still, but is no longer there, since then it is not the same with alterations or dry cleaning. My husband’s shirts are not as clean or pressed as before. New manager/owner is going to have to work hard to keep the excellent reputation June estabished. We are looking for a new place to take our clothes for cleaning and alterations. They are respectful, kind and polite but the service has suffered tremendously lately
J S — Google review
Fantastic place. We have been getting our dry cleaning done here for a long time, and have recently had several alterations done. They fixed a zipper on a dress and also hemmed a ballet dress for my daughter. Mark was so wonderful helping my young daughter feel comfortable with the measurements process, as she was really worried about the pins. He was really nice and made it easy. Such great people and they always do a really nice job. Definitely recommend
Jennifer W — Google review
I desperately needed to get linen pants tailored. They were on the pricier side so I was nervous to go to just any tailor. June’s Tailor has so many great reviews so I decided to trust them and give them a try. They did not disappoint! I was in there for about 10 mins as they took my measurements and I came back on the day promised and they were ready and perfect! I’m glad I trusted them and will definitely be back!
Andrea C — Google review
Incredibly pleased! Thru did a great job cleaning my Indian dresses!
Yvonne D — Google review
Had 2 formal dresses tailored; I chose her because my regular tailor closed after covid & Crabtree was too busy; paid her $72 ($36 each dress) even though she didn’t do what I asked; Red Flags: 1) Pricing-no sign with prices in store & don’t give estimate upon intake for service; none of my services required removal but did ask addition of adjustable hooks for shoulder 2). Guy said he was a professional tailor who took measurements; 1st dress asked to have halter chg to shoulder straps & flower sewn to middle w/o pin; she hand sewed, left pin in flower , removed strap support from middle where flower was added, told her I can sew & looks like sewing I can do at home, she asked me in English why I bring it to tailor; I replied cause I wanted it professionally done; she fixed part of it again, hand sewn 3) 2nd dress asked to close opening and take in at breast to fit; took in too much to close opening & still left too much at breast area; asked to have the dress let out, she said it’ll leave opening still; I said not if you didn’t cut material like you said you didn’t 4). when explaining issues; no yelling nor rudeness; she began to act if she didn’t understand English nor what I was saying even when I showed her & her assistant what I wanted; frustrated I just told her I already paid you, I’ll take it elsewhere… should’ve taken chance with tailor in Crabtree Valley even though they also were booked for prom

The North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences in Raleigh is a popular attraction offering free admission and a delightful cafe. Visitors of all ages can explore exhibits on the state's geology, flora, and fauna, as well as fossil collections. The museum features 3D films, live-animal programs, and interactive experiences like the 'Investigate Labs' where visitors can embrace their inner scientist.
This museum is a fantastic experience for everyone, especially kids! It offers an engaging and educational environment where children can explore and learn about natural science in a fun and interactive way. From dinosaurs to space, wildlife to gems and minerals, there’s something here to spark curiosity in visitors of all ages. To fully enjoy everything the museum has to offer, plan to spend at least 4 hours. The exhibits are extensive and well-designed, encouraging hands-on learning and exploration. Make sure to check the schedule for the 3D cinema, as showings are held at specific times throughout the day and are definitely worth attending. One of our favorite parts was the live butterfly habitat. it's a magical experience to walk among so many beautiful, free-flying butterflies. The staff was friendly and helpful, and the facility was clean and well-maintained. No ticket is needed. Overall, it's a must-visit destination for families and anyone interested in science and the natural world!
Mohammad T — Google review
The North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences in downtown Raleigh is an absolute gem and a must-visit! When we went, they were hosting a special blue whale exhibition, and it was jaw-dropping. Seeing the enormous skeleton up close for the first time was unforgettable—it really gave us perspective on how massive and magnificent these ocean giants are. The museum has plenty more to explore, too. We loved roaming through the dinosaur exhibit, where life-sized displays and fascinating details bring prehistoric times to life. Standing next to those towering models was both humbling and exciting. One of the best parts is that general admission is donation-based, so you can explore the museum at no set cost, making it accessible for everyone. If you’d like to add something extra, they also offer 3D movies at a very reasonable price: $6 for adults, $5 for seniors, students, and military with ID, $4 for children, and $3 for members. It’s a fun way to dive deeper into science and nature. Overall, our visit was fascinating, family-friendly, and inspiring. We’ll definitely return to see future exhibits and enjoy more of what this incredible museum has to offer. Cheers! 🥂
Mr. D — Google review
The North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences is the best science museum we’ve ever visited! The first thing that impressed me was that the entire main area is free — no tickets are needed to explore all four floors. You only need to buy tickets for special exhibitions or movies. I’ve never seen such a wonderful free science museum before! Out of appreciation, I bought tickets for all three movies and the Blue Whales exhibit for three people — and even with that, it wasn’t expensive at all, just a little over $90. The museum is so diverse and interesting that we spent the whole day there and still didn’t see everything. You definitely need at least two days to explore it fully. There’s a café on the 4th floor that was full of visitors. The menu doesn’t really offer much for healthy eaters, so we skipped it, but it’s a great spot for a quick snack, especially for kids. On the 4th floor there’s also a bridge that connects to another building of the museum — it opens up to a huge laboratory area that was amazing to see. We’re still impressed! The museum has two gift shop areas, but honestly, the museum itself is much more exciting and full of variety than the shops. There are restrooms on every floor, plus escalators and elevators, so it’s accessible for everyone, including people with disabilities.
Oksana — Google review
The North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences is an amazing place to visit. There are so many interesting exhibits for both kids and adults, and the best part is that admission is completely free! The museum is clean, well organized, and full of fascinating displays about nature and science. Parking is also free on weekends, which makes it even better. Highly recommend for a family visit or a weekend trip!
Pavel I — Google review
The Raleigh Science Center is an amazing place for all ages! It’s packed with interactive exhibits that make learning fun and hands on. Right now, they have an incredible Blue Whale exhibit that’s definitely worth seeing. Whether you’re into space, biology, or technology, there’s something exciting to explore. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable, always ready to help or answer questions. I especially loved the planetarium shows truly out of this world! Highly recommend visitors to Raleigh to stop by and boost their experience while you’re in town. Perfect for family trips or a fun day out with friends!
Justin K — Google review
Such an amazing place! It’s still a great time as an adult visiting with no kids so don’t shy away! Make sure you grab a map though, because this is a whole experience. There is loads to see and do here, so set aside 3-4 hours to fully go through the museum. It’s four stories, and two sides as well so work your way up one side and come down the other so as to not dart back and forth. Overall, I think you end up walking close to two miles so comfortable shoes are a must. There is so much care put into the exhibits and the science and working labs are just amazing to see. The gem and mineral section can’t be missed, the stones are GORGEOUS. This is a must if you’re interested at all in natural science. Loads of fossils, great explanations, and best of all it’s free!
Dallas M — Google review
Can't recommend this museum enough! Adults and kids found it engaging and could have spent many more hours there! Free entrance, family friendly, capitulating exhibits felt like a tour across NC. There's so much to explore! The discovery room was a great hit with the kids. The dinosaur lab was also special, paleontologist entertained all sorts of questions♥️
Talar K — Google review
The North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences is seriously one of my favorite spots in Raleigh. It’s an awesome mix of fun, learning, and just pure wonder—and the best part? General admission is free! The exhibits are super well done and cover a ton of different topics. You can check out towering dinosaur skeletons, see the gigantic skeleton of a blue whale, wander through realistic habitat displays, and even watch live scientists do their thing in the research labs upstairs. The butterfly conservatory feels like stepping into another world—it's warm and tropical, and there are so many colorful butterflies that sometimes one will land right on you! You can tell the staff and volunteers really love what they do. Everyone I talked to was friendly, super knowledgeable, and excited to share cool info. There’s a lot for kids to do, but it’s just as fun for adults. You can take your time exploring without feeling rushed, and there are plenty of quiet spots to just chill and soak it all in. If you’re in Raleigh or nearby, this museum is a must-visit. Whether you’re into science, looking for a fun family day, or just curious about nature, you’ll leave amazed—and probably already thinking about your next trip back!

The North Carolina Museum of Art in Raleigh is a must-visit destination for both locals and tourists. It boasts a diverse permanent collection spanning 5,000 years, along with captivating traveling exhibits. The museum's outdoor monument park and amphitheater offer a unique experience, featuring fan-favorite installations like the sci-fi rings, mirror labyrinth, Hobbit house, musical swings, and statues.
We thoroughly enjoyed visiting the museum and the artworks it exhibit. It was one of the best art museums in world, I’d reckon. It is well lit with a good combination of natural light and artificial light. There is enough space for visitors to see the artwork properly without disturbing each other or coming in each other‘s way. The artwork itself is good blend modern and traditional art. The exhibits are done with different mediums, which I really loved. There is tonnes of greenery and nature to enjoy art. There cafeteria was also great. There were things for kids to do. I would easily come to this museum with a picnic basket and spend my day here. Can’t believe this museum is free.

The North Carolina Museum of Art is an outstanding cultural destination that blends art, nature, and community. The permanent collection is beautifully curated, offering a wide range of works from European classics and African art to modern and contemporary pieces. Each gallery is spacious, thoughtfully arranged, and enhanced with natural light, creating an inviting atmosphere for visitors. The museum park is equally impressive, with miles of walking and biking trails accented by large-scale outdoor sculptures. It provides a unique opportunity to enjoy art in a natural setting, making the museum experience extend beyond the building itself. Staff and volunteers are consistently friendly, knowledgeable, and welcoming, which adds to the overall positive experience. Another highlight is that admission to the permanent collection is free, making the museum highly accessible to the public while still offering high-quality exhibitions and events. Overall, the North Carolina Museum of Art sets a high standard for museums in the region. It is a place where art and community intersect in a meaningful way, and I would highly recommend it to anyone visiting or living in North Carolina.

This is a beautiful art museum! And it’s free. Except for some special exhibits. But the large portion of it is free. And stunning. The building itself is beautiful and they have some wonderful pieces. I was not expecting for this place to be so big. I will be back.

This is an amazing museum and we didn’t get to explore all of it because of how huge it is. We love art so we spent about 3 hours walking around learning & looking at African American art, European art, WWII art, Christian art, and many more other powerful artistic pieces with a historical background. The museum is absolutely free to explore which is great but no food and drinks inside the place. There’s about 2-3 different buildings to go into.

The free night event was wonderful. Plenty of exhibits . A variety of mediums. A quiet ,clean friendly atmosphere and plenty of on-site parking. The special exhibit...The book of Esther was informative and well put together. The African American exhibit was full of color and very eye-catching. The various mediums (wood, wire, paper, metal)will keep a person intrigued. There are benches throughout for time to reflect or just rest. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable. There is a gift shop with a variety of items for sell such as books, jewelry, artwork and trinkets. There is also a dress up photo opportunity near the book of Esther exhibit.

On Sunday I went to experience the walking trails at the NC Museum of Art, and loved it! There are so many interesting art pieces in view while walking! The paths are measured and posted in the Welcome Center area and also on the Blue Path (sponsored by BCBS). I posted an image of that map. It felt safe with families, couples, and singles all around. I ended up walking on most of the paths, and it tired me out. Luckily, I was parked in the edge by the entrance with the Reedy Creek stoplight on Blue Ridge Road. A plethora of parking there!!! So great!

Unfortunately, the only floor that was open was the first floor as they will be closing in one month so that they can do a three-year renovation. The good thing is it was free and very interesting as I have not been to Raleigh North Carolina before. It was a good two hour walk-through of the complete history from Neolithic days up until now. I do look forward to the reopening in three years to see what they can come up with I’m sure it will be much better.

Brought my family here for a visit and we had a great time. Every time we visit, there is a new amazing experience. My son enjoys learning from the staff and stations set up throughout the museum. Looking forward to coming back and learning more!

This museum is free, has restrooms, gift shops, and a cafe that is sometimes open. The parking lot near it charges cash and about $2 per hour. The museum is great, there is so much to see, there are about 4 floors and 2 buildings. It is fantastic for kids and adults. There are live animals and insects as well. There are also films in both buildings. The fun demonstrations and activities are usually done on weekends but a weekday is nice and calm if you don't like being around too many people. The museum has animals, plants, insects, rocks, wood, and dinosaurs. You will spend at least 2 hours here but could easily spend 4.

It is a very well maintained museum. The staff were very friendly, had a great time seeing all the exhibits from olden times maintained in the best way possible. And it's open to the public for free, but you can do your part by offering small donations. My favorites were a couple of exhibits with houses and rooms which were about 150 years old and also a few exhibits where they recreated models of scenes from the past, the one I have in my pics. This is a good place to learn and feel the history of North Carolina. Overall, time well spent at the museum.
Varun V — Google review
Free to enter and really interesting. Gives you the history of North Carolina. Give yourself at least 2 to 3 hours to get through it. They have some old houses in there too from the past which were really cool. Go before October of this year because they are about to shut down for renovation.
Terra S — Google review
Cool free thing to do while in town. The lady at the help desk was helpful and gave a brochure explaining each level and also how to get tickets to a current special attraction they had going on. Took my dad and my son. There were interactive displays that caught both of their eyes. So much to learn: went on a Monday so it wasn’t a big crowd which I loved cause no rushed feeling. The sports area upstairs was pretty small with a few highlights that my son enjoyed. We all learned a lot which was the goal. On street parking was available close by.

Beautiful place! We attended a wedding here and it was beautiful! The wedding was at 5 pm and it was super hot but the trees and foliage did provide some shade. The visitors center was nice The reception was held there. It was cool a safe haven from the heat. This is a lovely place, and I will definitely return just to visit. It's a great place to take professional pictures. There are so many different areas and flowers. Water features and all kinds of good things. This small arboretum is such a charmer. It’s a delightful place to take a walk and explore plants. Because it seeks to determine the viability of new introductions in our area it’s also great for professionals seeking to expand their plant palette. Besides, it has my favorite Japanese maple in the world. I was surprised to see the lathe house has been largely rebuilt, and the White Garden has a new fountain.

We achieved our 40th State Capitol here in Raleigh, North Carolina. Visited on a Saturday afternoon an was still open for visitors till 5 pm. It’s a functional Capitol with the Executive Branch having offices in the Building. The Senate and House of Representatives work out of a new Legislative Building down the street. Walking on all 3 floors gave perspective of the State Library, Geology room, House of Commons (House of Representatives) and Senate. Lots of important plaques to read.

We visited on the weekend so we only walked around outside. The statues and architecture are impressive. The detail of the Vietnam war memorial was very moving. The grounds are well kept with lots of shade trees. The grounds cover an entire city block. There were steps facing the street we entered from, I did not pay attention to whether there was wheelchair access but I’m thinking surely there must be on one of the streets.

A beautiful historic state capital building. Inviting space, some parts are closed to the public, overall not too large, easy to cover in fifteen minutes. Beautiful add to a state capital tour.

Very small Capitol but a fun one to check off. You can really wander where you want! Best parts are the neat statue of Washington and the cool library upstairs. I recommend wandering down to the current legislative building afterwards

One of the smallest state houses I've seen but it was all restored and served as a great museum, as the 2 chambers are no longer in use. They have guided routes as well as self guided.

Beautiful historic building with well kept grounds. Downtown core around it is suffering from urban blight and lack of investment. Hopefully it can turn a corner with redevelopment. Great old buildings with lots of potential.

I have visited state capitols in many states. The North Carolina State Capitol gave me a very simple feeling. Unlike the golden domes in other states, it is a crown.

Restaurant
Mandolin is a refined bistro offering elevated modern American cuisine with a Southern twist. Chef and owner Sean Fowler's farm-to-table restaurant pays homage to his childhood memories at the former Johnsons Pharmacy, now transformed into this cozy eatery. The menu features a blend of Southern comfort food and global flavors, including NC oysters, pork short rib with Cheerwine-baked peas, chicken and waffles, sweet tea panna cotta, and skillet cornbread.
We had our first experience at this restaurant and really enjoyed it! We kicked things off with a pitcher of Bloody Marys, so take this review with a slight grain of salt. Our server, Ethan, was fantastic—attentive, friendly, and on top of everything. The brunch menu was impressively diverse, offering something for nearly every palate. I treated myself to the waffle with spiced apple topping, and it was absolutely delicious. It came with butter and apple butter on the side, but the apple butter was a bit underwhelming—it lacked the depth of flavor and spices I was expecting. One of our guests ordered the Panzanella salad and found it a bit disappointing, mainly due to its portion size compared to the price. However, she felt she may have just chosen the wrong dish. Meanwhile, our third guest ordered the Pork Madame, which not only looked incredible but tasted just as good. Overall, I’d definitely recommend this spot for brunch! Just a heads-up—parking can be tricky, whether in the rear lot or on the street, so plan accordingly.

In reality I like to try to reserve 5 stars for cream of the crop dining experiences and this sits closer to a 4, but I'm going to round up because I loved the farm to table vibe. All the food had a fresh homemade feel. Our server was excellent as well. Chicken and waffles was my favorite dish out of everything we ordered (I'm not sure I've had buckwheat waffles before but they were fire), and the collards were on point as well. Catch of the day - the plate looked semi skimpy in comparison to the fully loaded chick waffles dish, but the fish was cooked well and the little beet endive side dish added a nice refreshing touch (if you're in the mood for something lighter). I'm usually not a huge fan of creme brulee because I feel like it's generic wherever you go, but I loved the way they zested this one up with orange. I left here very satisfied with the experience and without a bloated / ate-too-much-junk feeling that's common when I dine out. Will definitely come back.

I had googled best restaurants in Raleigh and Mandolin was one of several that appeared. I made reservations online and did not have to wait when we arrived. We had brunch, and it did not disappoint. We started with a sugar and cinnamon doughnut. I had the omelette which had asparagus, mushrooms and Gouda cheese. It was delicious. My daughter said the BLT was the best BLT she’s ever had. Ethan was our server and he was awesome. We enjoyed the fresh flowers on the table The walls leading to the restrooms are lined with very cool pictures. We will be back and highly recommend Mandolin.
Debra — Google review
The staff was friendly and accommodating, making the restaurant a pleasant place to dine. I tried the fried cauliflower and chicken dish, which unfortunately made me quite ill. However, everything else on the menu tasted delicious. My girlfriend’s oysters and grouper were a hit, and they were prepared perfectly.

We visited on a busy Saturday evening with reservations for a date night. Our server, Priscilla, was lovely and attentive. We shared the cornbread. A little dry, but the butter was so delicious. We both had the tomato/peach salad. It was fresh and delicious. For main courses, we enjoyed the pork chop and chicken and waffles. Both were delicious and highly recommend. The dining area is a bit loud, but overall, a great atmosphere. We will return!

We went to Mandolin for brunch and it was really great. The location is awesome and the place is super cute. Fresh flowers on the table were a nice touch. We got the shrimp and grits and a Bloody Mary. Both were amazing. The Bloody Mary had the perfect kick without being over the top, and the shrimp and grits were just really well done. Our server, Leanne, was awesome. Friendly, fast, and knew her stuff without hovering. It felt laid back but still a little fancy, like the kind of place you could go in jeans or dress up for. Definitely planning to come back.

THIS is the experience you should have at every restaurant. Ever. We met Sean earlier today at Tepuy Donuts and he told us about Mandolin, his restaurant. I had never heard of it, so we made a reservation. Not disappointed at all. I was blown away and so was hubby. Katelyn was our server and she was the cherry on top of this cake of a restaurant. She was so sincere and so sweet, super soft spoken and funny. I would personally request her as our server again. The bartender/ mixologist came over to see how we liked the drinks, he had a Lavender Lemonade and I had the Carrot Cake Hot Toddy. Sean actually came over to see us and thank us for stopping by! I will say I felt a little special. Hubby was made a custom drink with apple cider, ginger and muddled pear. I had an amaretto sidecar with a twist. Knocked me on my butt, but it was so smooth. We actually came here for the steak and cornbread. The cornbread is unlike anything I've had, and the butter is low key spicy, flavorful and unique. Subtle, yet, it has recognizable spices that meld beautifully. The steak basically a fully grown cow that takes time to cook. It's big, yet cooked to perfection. We had it cooked medium rare. It came out served with hot and fresh vegetables, Swiss cheese potatoes and a pat of fresh made butter on the top. Everything, every little thing, was perfect. Perfect for a date night, celebration, or just because.
Laura B — Google review
Service was top tier and our waitress was very kind and knowledgeable about the menu. I really wish that we had tried their brunch menu instead of dinner but we actually enjoyed what we did try. The steak frites was cooked medium but still a little tough to chew. Cocktail and beers were wonderful. Duck croquette and southern oysters and pearls was amazing.

The Martin Marietta Center for the Performing Arts is a dynamic establishment nestled in Raleigh, North Carolina. It serves as a vibrant hub for various live performances, including music and theater, and also features event spaces and an art gallery. The center's mission is to present top-notch professional ballet performances and opera productions of exceptional caliber, aiming to captivate and enlighten audiences locally and beyond.
We went to the Opera to see Cinderella. It was such a beautiful evening. Excellent seats although I feel you could find a good seat anywhere in the theatre. We have also been to musicals, the symphony and other shows at this center and have always had the best experience.

Have seen a lot of acts at this venue. Attending when this was still the Duke Center for the Performing Arts. From dance theatre to comedy shows and plays, we enjoy coming to the Martin Marietta Center for the Performing Arts. There have been a couple of sound quality issues within a couple performances. Yet overall this is a great venue to catch a show, play, kids friendly theater or concert. The staff is super friendly and helpful. I am looking forward to the next three performances I am scheduled to see here. By the way every seat is a great seat!!!

Wonderful place to see and hear the symphony. Seats are comfortable and sight lines are good. The only negative is the construction going on in front that may cause elderly patrons some discomfort.

My wife and I attended the graduation ceremony for Campbell College Law School students on Friday 5/9/25 at this beautiful facility. It was huge and beautifully decorated throughout. I was very impressed with the astonishing decor of this place. I can imagine that it can hold maybe close to 2000 people for events. It would be a perfect place for concerts or dramatic performances. Handicap accessible bathroom facilities and plenty of parking. We really enjoyed ourselves mostly because of how comfortable the seating was and the enjoyment of watching a relative graduate from a wonderful university. Thanks for the experience. If you’re entertaining the possibility of attending a function here I highly recommend it. It’s a beautiful facility.

This is one of my favourite venues! I come here to see the shows that don’t come to Virginia (or at least to Chrysler Hall) such as all the wonderful Mexican 🇲🇽 acts like Ana Barbara, Los Tigres del Norte, Pedro Fernandez, Intocable, and others! I find both venues to be beautiful, but if I had to pick, I like this venue better than Chrysler Hall to be honest. The view of the stage is better, you don’t have to worry about climbing up stairs to balconies or taking elevators, sound quality is decent, and parking is fairly convenient (no parking garages!). Sure, the drive there is a pain in the butt (almost three hours for me), but I would rather come here than to miss out on the wonderful shows that the Martin Marietta Center has! I will add that the house staff are extremely hospitable, the security do everything they can to assure everything goes smoothly and do so respectfully (the Mexican shows can get a bit out of hand), the bathrooms are always clean, and even though the merch may not always be a lot (that’s probably more of an event organiser type of thing), but it’s easily accessible right by the entrance. If I have one thing that I could suggest, I would suggest hiring more Spanish-speaking staff so there won’t be any miscommunication with the show goers. Thank you so much for having good shows and I can’t wait to to see more in the future!
Rachel L — Google review
I had the pleasure of taking a behind the scenes tour of Raleigh Memorial Auditorium inside the Martin Marietta Center for the Performing Arts. We got to see a set and meet some of those that put on the show from hair and makeup to the sound. We also saw some of the performers. The venue seats of 2369 and was once used for basketball games. There are photos online if you look for them. they kept the upper seats on the sides from the basketball years. The tour was a special experience after watching the amazing production. The staff was informative and friendly. The fountain in front of Memorial Auditorium has been filled in with plantings. The building has updated its security, and you need to walk through a metal detector and have a bag check. There is also a size limit on the purse or bag brought. The staff is so friendly in explaining the new procedures. Concessions are on the expensive side $4 for a bottle of water and another $4 for a box of candy. Parking is plentiful in theory, with garages near by and parking across the street. But if something else is going on in Downtown Raleigh that can make finding a spot more difficult so make sure to give yourself plenty of time. Parking across the street will be ending soon as those lots are being developed into a hotel.
Rebecca M — Google review
Nice place...typical for a venue of this kind. Sucks the line was wrapped around the block but thats the nature of the beast. Docking one star for the seat attendant telling everyone to run to their seats in the dark. Fella we have no clue where the seats are and it's damn near pitch black in here. Calm down. Get some illuminated seat lights ASAP.
Christopher H — Google review
Adequate facilities with very friendly staff. Seems a little dated but it's good enough with decent acoustics.. However, the PA system was awful, emitting that low hiss noise that comes from poor speakers or sound system settings...whuch ruined the quiet parts of the concert we listened to. Do better!

Excellent brewery all around! This place was actually a recommendation from the beer tender at another brewery near by and I'm grateful he pointed me in this direction! Bike themed spot that has a super laid back and inclusive vibe. Devin and the other staff were great and the beer was delicious. Dog friendly. Huge outdoor fire pit. Definitely a brewery to add to your list of you haven't been. 👍🏻👍🏻

I spent three days in Raleigh in May 2025 for no particular reason - but decided I would use my time to explore the beer scene in town. This was one of my favorite spots. Super friendly vibe and great beers. I only wished I had a bike and could have gone out with the bunch on the group ride!
James P — Google review
We really enjoyed this brewery and almost went back the next night, but with so many breweries in the area, we wanted to try others. The beers were wonderful, and there was plenty to choose from. They offer great seating options both indoors and outdoors. There was also a food truck onsite that was steadily busy, so I’d assume the food was just as good. The staff was super friendly and made a point to walk around and chat with customers. I’d highly recommend this place if you’re in the downtown area.

Stopped by after walking all around Downtown Raleigh as a first time visitor. As an avid mountain biker I loved the vibe here and the dogs, stayed for trivia and great beers. The food truck out front did not disappoint. The bartender (Ben) was friendly and helpful. Would 10/10 recommend to locals and visitors alike.

Can't from out of town, went there specifically because they were a bicycle themed brewery. Expectations were medium. I had 2 flights to taste everything on the menu. They had 3 sours on tap, all were great. I recommend the hazy IPA as well. Would definitely go again. Trivia night was also a pleasant surprise.

Crank Arm Brewing is one of our favorite spots in Raleigh! 🍻 The beers are always excellent, the vibe is super chill, and the bartenders are friendly and welcoming. Their event coordinator does such a great job keeping the calendar full of fun things to do during the week - there’s always something happening. What we love most is how truly dog-friendly they are. They don’t just allow dogs, they welcome them with open arms, treats, and water bowls ready to go. 🐾 It makes every visit feel like a community hangout for both people and pups. Highly recommend stopping by for great beer, good company, and a place your dog will love too!   🍻

Super nice brewery in the heart of Raleigh. Very relaxed, the beer was great. I had a tasting flight (would highly recommend) and one of the barkeeps came by to ask how it was. When I mentioned I didn’t particularly care for one of the beers, he exchanged it for a different one that was much more to my taste. Would definitely come back here, ideally with a group of friends, but never felt odd as a solo visitor.

Nestled in the heart of Raleigh, the North Carolina Executive Mansion is a stunning example of 19th-century architecture that showcases the elegance of Queen Anne design. Completed in 1891, this historic residence has been home to 28 governors and serves as both an official dwelling and a captivating event venue. Often referred to as 'the people's house,' its striking redbrick exterior and intricate woodwork have earned it accolades from notable figures like President Franklin D.
Went here for the public holiday open house. The house itself is gorgeous and the addition of all the Christmas decorations made it even better. There are two levels but during this open house, only the first floor was accessible to the public. The garden also looked beautiful but it was not open to the public to wander. Helpful and kind docents! The house is usually open for public visit around holiday times and for tours or special events.

Absolutely an amazing place to see. So much history. Such friendly staff working, they had incredible stories to tell. The artwork was amazing. The fact that this place was a living history was so cool to see. Would love to go again and see everything all over again.

Great place to visit. Came for Halloween when they were open for the public. Will come again when they’re open for the public in December. For people who don’t know, you do need to book at least months ahead for guided tour. You can see the inside of the building during the spring and fall season. Do not expect to show up to the site last minute for entrance. You will not be able to go given this is an active living residence of a governor.
Natalie R — Google review
Fantastic experience! Quicknote: The mansion isn't open for walk-in since it's a residence so the only way to see the inside is to reserve guided tours in advance. You have to go to the NC science museum in-person to start the process of reserving, it takes some time. That being said, I had a fantastic experience. The tour went for 30 minutes and the first floor is available to see. The security team, staff, and guide were all welcoming and friendly. There's a lot of interesting history and the mansion is aesthetically beautiful from the inside. I highly recommend checking this out if you're in Raleigh!

My brother, son & I visited this Distillery to taste some great bourbon while learning about their operations via their weekend tour. The tour consisted of watching some short videos while walking through the Distilling process. We got to view the real equipment used like their fermentation vessels, pumps and heat exchanger. The space is small so very little walking is required. The staff was super friendly, informative and funny. At the end, we got to sample numerous bourbons, gins & vodkas made at their location. My brother couldn't resist to purchase a few bottles to take home to Delaware. If your a bourbon fan, I recommend visiting this quaint little business that has some successful products already available to enjoy!

My friends and I took the Luxury Tasting Tour on Halloween. What a great experience! Jonathan, Mike and Brad were the best. In person, you can tell these guys are 100% invested in distilling the best bourbon. Their character and commitment shines through. They’re not reading scripts or going through the motions. They are proud of their product and happy to share their knowledge. Would absolutely recommend the Mystic Farm experience. Their bourbon is pretty good too. 😉

My husband and I attended the bourbon and chocolate pairing class and it was SO WORTH IT. It was highly interactive and educational, and a lot of fun. You definitely get your money's worth of bourbon and chocolate. It was followed up by an interactive tour of the facility where we got to taste bourbon straight from a barrel and learn about the distilling process. Their facility also employs a lot of regenerative strategies that we really appreciated learning about. The tasting rooms and grounds are beautiful and the staff are super friendly and fun. We highly recommend visiting and will definitely be back for an old-fashioned and a cigar.

With its 153rd edition scheduled for October 15-25, 2020, the fair promises something for everyone.
One of the best events that happens every year. The food it amazing the rides are always fun and thrilling. And it I like to finish my nights off with the 15 minutes fireworks show that happens every day at 9:45 over the little pond. Best place to go on dates or friends or with family. Definitely willing to go every year.

I love going to the NC State Fair with my friends in the fall!! I went for the first time last year, and it was so much more fun than I actually expected. There are countless vendors for all different things, definitely something for everyone. I loved getting to try all the different foods. My favorite was the brisket mac and cheese, and I'm definitely looking forward to getting it again this year. I also tried fried cookie dough with ice cream, which was very good as well. Even after being there for a couple of hours, we didn't even get to see all of the Fair, which is cool to think about because there is just so much to enjoy. Overall, the Fair was such a fun and memorable experience, especially with friends. I felt safe while I was there, which I can't say about some other fairs I have been to before. The only annoying thing about the Fair is the traffic it creates, especially because I live near the area, but traffic is everywhere, any time of year. (PRT 220 NCSU)

This was my 3rd year attending the NC State Fair and possibly my last. The fair has become overrun over the past few years due to all the gentrification in Raleigh. We visited today, a Monday and arrived ahead of the lunch hour at 11:15. We parked at the Reedy Creek Bandwidth Free Parking Shuttle lot. It was very well organized and the staff was kind. There was a short walk to Gate 8 from Carter Finley. We visited the Flower Show and Gardens area first. This is my favorite part of the fair. I look forward to the exhibits and winners every year ! The Gardens are relaxing and a great way to beat the overstimulating crowds. Afterwards we stopped at Al’s Fries 🍟 and ordered a hot dog and Italian sausage for lunch. For dessert I had a slice of banana pudding cake from Favor Cakes. We sat down and ate in peace on the Grandstand stadium near Al’s. All of these eats were local to one another. My daughter had a cup of Esquite Corn elote from Oh My Churro. Very overpriced. We spent about $70 between us with desserts, drinks and snacks. I advise you pack a thermos of ice water and maybe even pack your own lunch to save money. You can enjoy it at the Grandstand and beat the crowds. This year was too crowded to enjoy. Also with some new changes to the Fair, it was underwhelming. It was a great way to get in over 12,000 steps for the day however. Small wins.
Mariss — Google review
So you order your tickets ahead of time and then you have to wait in line for over 30 minutes to get them. Not to mention the 45 minutes you have to wait in line just to get into the fair. They need way more people working here. Then once you get your tickets, more long lines for the rides. 1 bottle of Deer Park water is $5.00! Not sure if I’ll come back.
Becky H — Google review
Our family has been coming to the state fair for years. This year we arrived early before the gates opened, and the line near the lakes was about 10x longer than ever before. We walked to a different gate which was significantly shorter. Even arriving early (which has historically allowed good access to most vendors and activities) lines were excessive (10 people for cider, 100 people for donuts, 10 people for coffee). Nearly everything is an additional charge now. The dirt stadium tickets were an additional $11 per person for events there. While we saw 2 live musicians, there were no shows running. The "history of distilling" was just a mixed drink station. Basically most of the experience has become longer lines, higher costs, and extra costs for things that used to be educational or promotional for the state or for agriculture. Food costs seemed 30% higher than the last time we went. Basically plan on $14-$20 for a protein and a side, and $5-$10 for a drink. I think some of the specialty items are now $25. The best areas are still the plant and animal areas, but even those felt increasingly buried behind more high cost food and stuffed animal vendors. For the entrance cost, the experience did not feel worth it for our family.

So you order your riding tickets early and then there are only about four Green tents throughout the entire fair. So you have to wait in line about 30 minutes just to get the tickets. You have to wait another 30 to 40 minutes in line just to get into the fair. They need more people working. Not sure if I’ll ever come back.

The State Fair this year was great but expensive. I guess the Tariffs got the fair also. Turkey Legs $20 , Funnel Cake $10 . Sites and the people were fun to watch, oh the roasted corn down by the village of yester years. Still the same delicious. Go enjoy

The rides were fun and the food was tasty. However, I don't think we will be back. Parking is absolutely ridiculous. Same as the price of the fair itself. $50 for parking ( If you can even find somewhere) , then $13 for tickets each, then additional money for rides?? Not to even mention lines for rides were very confusing. You couldnt tell where the beginning or ending of one was. Altogether, just very unorganized. I understand this is a "state fair" but to spend this amount of money, the bar should exceed higher.

North Carolina Theatre, situated in the Duke Energy Center for the Performing Arts in downtown Raleigh, is a professional theatre company known for its high-quality Broadway-style musicals and plays. With over 30 years of entertaining audiences, the theatre stands out for its dedication to showcasing local talent. Visitors praise the consistently excellent productions created by NCT and highlight the fantastic singing and live orchestra. The box office staff are commended for their helpfulness in accommodating ticket changes.
We've had the good fortune of being NCT season subscribers for about 8 years. Particularly if you like musicals, NCT's Broadway-worthy productions - ALL of which are created locally by NCT - are consistently excellent and usually fantastic (especially the singing, and Edward G. Robinson's orchestra!). NCT called today to tell me that for the next show, our regular season seats will have an obstructed view for part of the performance due to the unusual arrangement of the sets - and switched us to the best available other seats. My good friends at NCT are doing such an amazing job of watching out for my personal interests that I almost feel like singing!

I’ve been to this theater many times, and what I like most is how reliable it is. The screenings usually start on time, and the staff are friendly even during busy nights. Concession lines can get long, but they move faster than most theaters I’ve been to. The theater is kept clean, and I’ve noticed staff doing quick checks between showings. It’s the consistency that makes me keep choosing this location for movie nights.

Immerse yourself in the dramatic arts at Raleigh Little Theatre, a long-standing community theater that has been entertaining audiences since 1936. This historic theater offers a diverse range of productions throughout the year and provides drama classes for all ages. The charming early modern classical style of the theater adds to its allure, and it is conveniently located near the beautiful Raleigh Municipal Rose Garden.
Raleigh Little Theatre is such a gem. It is always a joy to experience live performances in this intimate setting, it really allows you to connect with the story and the actors in a special way. The productions are consistently well done, and it is great to see such talent and creativity in a local space. It is a wonderful place to support the arts and enjoy a memorable night out even for the kids.

The theater is a really good size for a play. I really don't believe there is a bad seat in the house even if the balcony is good. Oh, probably the first roll on the balcony. We went to see The Color Purple, and I was amazed. They did a wonderful job. The singing and performance were top tier. It's definitely a show to see. It was funny, exciting, and sad sometimes as the play and movie were. There was a mixture of people. We were inside for this play.

I attended the Color Purple Musical this evening during opening weekend. I arrived an hour before showtime to enjoy the Rose Garden after the rain showers. What an added bonus ! Parking in the Permit lot was fairly easy, however it is a One Way, and you must bring your patience when exiting after the show. Try to find nearby street parking to avoid a traffic jam. I was lucky to score an Orchestra seat front row in A6. The best seat in the house! Plenty of leg room, comfortable and the best view of the stage. I've never sat behind the Orchestra booth, so this was a treat ! This was my first visit to Little Raleigh Theatre and I am very impressed. This production was impeccable. Tia James did a phenomenal job directing. The cast was perfectly tailored to each character and I appreciated that. What a talented cast ! The music was beautiful and the set design blew me away !!! The acting was stellar ! This was in my honest opinion, better than the 2024 Warner Brothers film. By far! I am planning to return again soon. We laughed. We cried. We danced. We sang ! Much thanks to the staff who run a tight ship. Very organized and excellent customer service. I recently discovered that they also offer acting/ vocal / dance classes for adults at any level. I am excited to enroll this fall and I’m happy to hear that they are bringing classes to convenient city park community centers. A dream come true for me to tap back into my talents and childhood interests.

My 6 year old child had a terrible experience at camp here. He has sensory issues and expressed that he was scared/embarrassed to perform at the final performance. The day of, at least 3-5 adults, presumably in different managing roles gave me varying, conflicting instructions on how to handle him not getting on stage. (“He HAS to sit with you.” “He can sit with you if he wants.” And one incredibly demanding woman barked orders at me and my child that he MUST sit with the group. She did this in front of the whole auditorium. Make up your mind, people.) Based on their tones and the all around confusion, I understood my son’s hesitancy to be on stage. With the exception of his younger counselors, the people running the show were less than impressive. In addition to forcefully pressuring my 6 year old to sit alone, one acting teacher spoke very negatively about my child to me in front of a lobby full of waiting parents. (His counselor, on the other hand, told he was doing a great job all week.) Not all —but several employees— were the most unprofessional group of people and we will never be back. It would serve their team well to remember all children are different and to take a refresher course on working with and teaching children who have anxiety and/or disabilities.

Beautiful, spacious venue. Both the outside and the inside were clean and impressive with a classic theater in a modern environment vibe. Employees were wonderful and very helpful. Box seats were fun but it really didn't look like there was a bad seat in the house. Snack selection was great and they offered some beers from a local brewery as well as more standard options. Parking wasn't awful and they actually offered us a ride to and from the parking lot on a nice oversized golf cart. Bathrooms were clean and easy to find. Their customer support system is terrible if you have to do anything out of the ordinary. After going through 2 levels of CS staff last week, they were supposed to provided specific answers in 5-7 days to questions regarding my account that had been escalated to the Technical Lighting Department. It took me 20 minutes today and 2 customer support staff to find out that the person that is suppose to be answering the questions is out and they don't know when they will be back. I find it impossible to believe there is only one person in the department that can answer my question. I find it unacceptable that it takes so much effort to call customer support to find out the status of getting my answers. In previous interactions with their customer support, I had reported trees that were leaning over the powerlines to our neighborhood and were imminently going to fall on them. They schedule a service call only to cancel it a few days later. I called back the customer support line on a Friday to try to get the issue addressed again as their was a tropical weather system forecast to come though that weekend. They said that the person that would have to consider the issue would not be able to do so until Monday and schedule a request for a call back. The tree came down on the lines and took out our neighborhoods power that weekend. Thanks Duke!

Absolute god awful company. Somehow my electric charges have gone through the roof and according to them my usage has skyrocket from last year, when last year at this time I was home all day long. Now I’m not home all day and my usage is way up compared to last year?. They are crooks, stealing money from customers and overcharging for electric services. Not to mention all the ridiculous fees they charge you monthly. This past month i had a storm restoration fee? Are you kidding, the s*** they are sticking to people is absolutely criminal

Angel C — Google review
They are overcharging. they are overcharging on electric usage, there are way too many add on fees, that have nothing to do with electric usage, and the electric usage frequently doubles and triples, when nothing changed. They even tried to say I used more electricity when it was off at the breaker, meaning I was using no electricity. I am actively trying to get rid of this company, which also frequently has outages, that you receive no credit for no matter how many hours or days that the electricity is out. I am looking at solar panels, and other forms now, because this is ridiculous, and am even rallying my community to get serviced by another company, this is ridiculous and I'm over it. They even tried to charge me a late fee, when my payment wasn't even late, which I proved because it was sent with a receipt from USPS and even then I had to go through the utilities commission. They had to nerve to say, well it's such a little amount you could just go ahead and pay it, and I responded, well if it's such a little amount why won't you waive it...Speechless they were.
Leela F — Google review
If i could do negative stars I would. I have been a Duke Energy business customer for over 20 years. We moved locations in October of last year and even though we had never had a late payment with them, because we moved they forced us to put down over 2000 for a security deposit. The years we were with them meant absolutely nothing to them. So we are paying our bill along with extra to pay for this ridiculous security deposit. We just made a payment for $983 on the 2nd of April. I get a call from someone this morning saying they were with Duke Energy and I couldn't fathom Duke would be calling since I'd just made a payment. So I assumed the call was another scam call like we get all the time. Well, it wasn't and these......... I will refrain from what I want to call them, these people came and cut the power this morning. Had to stop the 1000 things I'm in the middle of to deal with it. Paid another 820 some dollars to get it cut back on. Thanks for treating your long time customers so well Duke Energy. Y'all suck!!! NC Utilities commission, please come up with a way for competition in the power business for Duke Power. Maybe then they would treat their customers better. UNBELIEVABLE!!!
James E — Google review
First I had a great rep on yesterday but it is Duke Energy that I have felt like for the past 15years does not take care of your customers properly. I feel like this game I’ve had $400 light bills went on payment claim so that it would be the same amount monthly only to end up at the end of the year twice with $1000 overage that had to be paid on top of the regular deal which was still high and I was told I wasn’t on the plans that I know that I have signed up for multiple times I paid the balance out and then all of a sudden the balance was still backed up. It is unfair service that you all give. I do not blame the customer service rep. They’re just doing their job. It is the heads of Duke energy that are not right and I’m gonna say this never put this in a message before, but for all those we have always been affected and just so we can get through our daily lives paying these bills when we spend more of our time outside of our homes, then we do just to pay a bill that we’re not even able to use that much of the service you will reap with you so in the end for the individual heads, you will reap with you so in the end, there is a God who is over us all, and you will be judged accordingly. Think about the people not your pockets…. 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
Ashanti K — Google review
Can we have a different energy company not run by incompetent morons? They will turn off your auto pay without saying anything, and then when you get a message saying that you need to pay or have service discontinued you can't use the website because the website is 9/10 going to be out.

Visitors can also look forward to the possibility of seeing the on-campus hospital rebuilt as a museum for historical purposes.
The students and faculty are friendly and helpful. I had lunch in the cafeteria. The kitchen has a flair for southern cooking. My plate was loaded with fried chicken, corn bread, macaroni and cheese plus sweet potato casserole. The library honors the ladies that built the facilities into the university it is today.

Thank you the late coach Harvey Heartley and St.Augustine college faculty staff who cared.

Campus buildings are beautiful. However, the grounds were full of trash, glass, half eaten food, overflowing trash cans and just not well kept. It was even their open house day, from our understanding. The only thing worse were the attitudes of almost everyone we encountered with the exception of a few, of course. Our son was there to take the ACT TEST and we had our two year old grandson with us and it is difficult for a two year old to sit in the car and wait for up to four hours. We put him in his stroller to pass time and keep him occupied. We've never felt so unwelcomed. St. Augustine's is a place I would not recommend based on our experience today, sadly. Based on the way we were treated, there is no evidence that this is a "Christian" school.
Renee M — Google review
I do not like this school for my daughter. She will be transferring out of this place. This not a Christian college. Their standards for this school is low. They need a dress code. Young ladies walking around with half of their bodies hanging all out. Playing loud nasty music late at night. We should done a tour before I said yes to this school. Their communication is not good. You can't never get nobody and their financial Aid department is no better. All they going to have in this school before it is over. Is a lot of these students will have STD's and babies.

I mean....it's accredited, right? That's probably the best thing. The campus can look historic if you look at it with your optimistic glasses. Otherwise it looks old and run down. Service isn't that great. Some are rude, some don't pay you any mind. I am not from here and it was my first time registering so I expected a better experience. It's in a terrible area of Raleigh and Now I just can't wait to leave. second rate. The graduation rate is even 23%. Give me a break. There are 3 other schools in walking distance. Don't choose St. Aug.

I attended this school from 91-93. I was there when Tupac came and Magic Johnson. I fell in love with the family unity that I felt while here. Me and some of the people I met are still in contact over 20 years strong. I am now back as an adult learner which is awesome. The professors are awesome and learned. They care about what they are doing even with limited resources. The school needs a lot, is tru, but that all falls back on the ALUMNI. Help make this school great again because not only does it have a rich history but it offers a brighter future to some who would never of had a chance to feel college life. If you went to Saint Augustine's College/University then support it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have seen a lot of successful people that had their start here so now is your chance to allow another kid enjoy the "GOOD" that the school has to offer.

I went to see the Nutcracker in 2023 and loved it. Then I returned to Dr. Jekyll/Mr. Hyde and the lead male dancer was amazing! The interpretation to dance was amazing. Yesterday I saw Alice in Wonderland, this is where I’m removing stars. It was HORRIBLE. When you have to use voice and have fake singing in a dance then you shouldn’t call it a ballet. Turned me off going back sadly. It’s something I did with my about to be an adult son.
Beth G — Google review
I grew up coming to the Carolina ballet. I've seen Dracula and Swan Lake and other lovely shows. I came to the Nutcracker after not seeing it for a few years and this is the worst ballet performance I've ever seen. Costume malfunctions, boring choreography, the mechanical tree messed up multiple times. Twice the dancers started before the music, Mother Ginger didn't have any children come out from her skirt. None of the groups of dancers were in sync or turned the wrong direction. None of the dancers had the lovely elaborate costumes I remember. There was no actual ballet for the first act until the snowflakes and North Wind appeared. It felt like a low budget dance school recital, not a performance by professionals. Very disappointing.
Lindy K — Google review
I was thrilled to receive a notice that I had complimentary tickets to the Nutcracker. My email arrived on Friday, Dec 20. However I was unable to sign in on the link they provided. I emailed and called but it appears the box office was closed. I called first thing Monday to get assistance. I was told my tickets were for Friday, Dec 20th. In addition I was told that the emails went out on Thursday? Not sure why mine was received on Friday Dec 20. Anyway for no fault of my own, I missed the show. Yes, I am extremely disappointed.

The monster was played to perfection. I was completely impressed by the whole production. Just amazing!!! Thank you Carolina Ballet for bringing culture and grace to the city of Raleigh. Truly an amazing event.
Ivan P — Google review
I just got back from a performance of the Carolina Ballet's Nutcracker, and WOW, it was not very good at all. I grew up going to see the Nutcracker at the Boston Ballet, so I know my standards are high. But this show felt like a dance school recital, not a performance by a professional company. There really wasn't any ballet for the first 30-40 minutes! The Nutcracker prince was a kid! Clara wasn't on pointe! Mother Ginger had a big skirt, but no kids came out from or went back underneath it, that really annoyed me!! The dancers in general did not have good precision or timing. Most of the choreography was very boring. I liked the pas de deux with the Sugar Plum Fairy and Prince Coqueluche, that was lovely. But geez, what a disappointment. I can't see myself going back anytime soon.
Ro P — Google review
We go for the nutcracker every year and it's been pretty good. But this year they changed up the choreography, and now it's amateur at best. The new costumes are great, but the dancing was incredibly bad. No energy, no flow. "Frantic" and "amateur" is the best way I can describe it. Carolina ballet always highlighted young dancers, which is good, but now even the older dancers seem amateur. Very disappointed with the downgrade.

Best place ever! I have been a student here for 4 semesters with Sean, and I continue to go. I have learned so much. Others always notice how much I've improved in my acting. Estes is amazing and always helping me with my auditions. It's a great family environment. I love moonlight studios and I highly recommend you try it out.

If you’re child is interested in really exploring acting professionally, I can’t recommend moonlight more. Estes and this wonderful community provide the very best training around. Additionally as you start to move through the audition, callback, director sessions, screen tests ext the insight into the process is beyond valuable. Truly a local jewel and we are so grateful for Estes, Sean and all of Moonlight!

Estes is the real deal. Not only is he a talented, experienced, accomplished actor himself, but he has that rare skill of seeing greatness in others and helping them to bring it out. His positive attitude, coupled with his no nonsense advice and guidance are fundamental when exploring professional acting in the Triangle as well as anywhere. He and his team are amazing with kids and others who are focused and hard-working. I wish I had met him sooner! Because of his help I'm finally getting to a new Stage in my career.

Hidden gem with an awesome group of talented coaches. Send your kid here for acting, improv, singing, etc. They’ll learn a lot and have a great time.... or get tickets to one of the awesome Moonlight productions in their small theater. When you first get to the location, the buildings seem a little dated but you won’t be disappointed in the classes and shows!
Alison “ — Google review
The best in Raleigh. The staff are wonderful and helpful. Kids really enjoy going to moonlight and these kids are so talented.. highly recommend!!

I'm taking a comedy sketch class right now and was a little nervous because I never taken something like this before but Matt White does a great job of teaching the class and helping us grow. He challenges us and doesn't hold our hand but if you have any questions, this guy will answer them. He's an extremely dedicated person to his craft whether that be Improv or Stand-up. I'll definitely be taken the next class with Matt whether he teaches improv or stand up because he is that good of a teacher. If you’ve been thinking about taking improv or comedy sketch classes, do it. You’re in good hands with Matt White.
E J — Google review
I have taken improv workshops and improv classes here and the instruction is top notch. I have also attended and performed here. The venue is a little small, but the main stage has good lighting and the seating is tiered which allows for everyone to have a good view. There is also acting and singing instruction here. I would definitely recommend the improv training here and suggest coming out to some of the shows hosted here.

Munchkin acting and improve classes are awesome! Really helping my 9 year old overcome his fear of live performance and understanding how to improve. Estes is great!

The SAS Championship is a prestigious PGA Tour Champions event that takes place annually at the scenic Prestonwood Country Club in Cary. The tournament is highly regarded and includes not only top-tier golf but also a Pro-Am event, Food Truck Friday, and a 5k Saturday race for the community. It's known for its well-maintained grounds and the presence of legendary players from the senior tour.
It's absurd what you get for your money. Yes it is upscale but, having had the opportunity to oversee the employees as they work and being in a position to hear and see them without them knowing I was observing, I can say they genuinely care about what they do. They would revisit something a dozen times just to make sure it was perfect, even if it was a lid to a container needing to be open, they made sure it was open at an exact degree. I was also able to hear employees gossip. Something that would get many fired, the chatter here was only about how they were surprised by requests made for food to have specific toppings placed on it. The point of the conversation was an amazed take on why someone would want to do something that would hide the flavor they worked hard on achieving. They were careful not to say anything around visitors and, even as mild a conversation as this was, they had it in relative privacy. I don't blame them, either. After tasting the food I agree with their point as it is impeccable. If I wasn't already past that point in my life, I'd heavily consider this establishment to host any major event in my life.

The Masters of the Senior Tour! Everyone is respectful, the grounds are immaculate, the players seem as happy to be here as we do to have them. No pimento cheese sandwiches, but well worth the time for golfers who value tradition.

Was very hot the one day I went, but you can handle it if you're smart with shade and staying hydrated. Amazing amount of artists and different things brought to the table. There were a few food trucks and a few beer/wine tents. Everyone that come can find something unique for there collection. There is also a dedicated kids area with entertainment and interactive art. The band/musical artists that played this year were excellent! Definitely red recommend whether you go with friends or even by yourself!

First Night 2018 was frigid, but the cold was part of the fun! Entertainment and venues were awesome and warm. It was well worth braving the cold to share New Year's Eve with fellow hardy souls to see the incredible fireworks which capped off the celebration. Thanks to all the staff and volunteers who made the celebration a fun night.

Raleigh is a vibrant city that hosts an array of festivals and events throughout the year, many of which are free to attend. Among these celebrations, Brewgaloo stands out as a must-visit event. This lively neighborhood block party and beer festival takes place in mid-August and attracts around 40,000 attendees. It features over 110 local craft breweries from North Carolina, alongside more than 50 food trucks serving delicious bites.
This was the absolute best time! I can't wait for next year to do it again. So much good beer, good food and great people!
John W — Google review
I love this festival. I love it so much that I fly down yearly from the north east to participate. The beer tents are plentiful. The pours are strong. The food is tasty. The crowd is tolerable and the music is enjoyable. Highly recommend bringing water, wearing sunscreen and making a pretzel necklace.
Rachel — Google review
Second year in a row I've gone. I'd like to give this event 1 star so it won't be so well attended. It has been fantastic two years in a row! A wonderful crowd, no drama, no fights. And Mother Nature was good to us. Perfect!! Some breweries had a lukewarm offering but some were perfectly cold and delicious. Well worth the money to sample our state's finest breweries all in one spot!!!
Candace W — Google review
This was our 3rd (maybe 4th?) trip around the Brewgaloo sun, and every orbit just gets groovier. From the crowd energy to the perfect downtown constellation of food trucks, craft beer, and music stages—it’s a stellar vibe start to finish. We’ve played a lot of festivals, but Brewgaloo hits a different frequency. The organizers? Galactic. The sound crew? Out of this world. The attendees? Beam us up, because y’all are our kind of Earthlings. Thanks for making space for Cosmic Superheroes again—Raleigh, you always leave us starstruck.
Cosmic S — Google review
Brewgaloo was a lot of fun. I didn’t think 25 tickets would be a enough but it was more than enough. I really enjoyed all the different vendors and food trucks that I was able to choose from lots of variety and the lines were not that bad. Live music was awesome. I will be back again for this beer festival!
Divone J — Google review
Great beer samples and good food options and opportunities to purchase things from other vendors.
Whitne H — Google review
What an incredible local beer festival. I was amazed by the amount of breweries in the area and they all seemed to be at the festival. Great representation of everything local in the triangle - food trucks, rockin' bands, vendors, restaurants and of course a whole lot of beer! A truly unique and can't miss experience.

The most fun beer fest around! Local NC beer, local independent vendors, lively tunes, AND tasty treats and food from our truly innovative NC food trucks! Beautiful Spring weather too!
