The 50 best foods to try in Raleigh

This was our second time here and both times have been 10/10! We got the duck, steak, eggplant, and trout. The steak was paired with a truffle cream type corn that may have been my favorite thing on the table. The eggplant was super crispy and not soggy at all. The trout was light but the sauce it was paired with was the star of the show. They were all absolutely delicious but we all agreed the trout was our favorite. The brownie sundae had an incredible honey peanut butter whip and was so dense and gooey I wanted five. The portions here are perfect that you can enjoy an app, dinner, and dessert and not feel like you need to be rolled out. It was my dad’s birthday and they did a candle for him in the cheesecake. Both my parents said this was a top five meal ever for them!

We snagged reservations here right after Christmas and were very excited to try it. I was quite disappointed by the quality of the food that we got after all the hype this restaurant got after opening and prices though. The best thing we tried was the seafood tower, which was outstanding I will say, but this was a bit disappointing given that we were at a steakhouse. The main dishes were all quite subpar, and the sides were honestly abysmal. We got potatoes that were so creamed that they tasted like baby food and a mushroom casserole dish that tasted like it came out of a can (think cream of mushroom). Again, for the prices charged, this was highly disappointing. The wine and seafood were great, and the filet and other dishes we had were good but nothing to rave about to be honest. I do not plan on returning, especially after spending close to $1k on 4 people just for dinner.

Our server was really nice. She had several tables so we put in our order for appetizers and entrees all at once. This must've confused the kitchen because the timing between our salads and the entree was excessive. In fact, the table beside us who put their order in after us, got their order first. (Bench seats, you're aware of the next tables whether you want to be aware or not) When I got my trout, it wasn't hot, and the squash was near cold. My husband's steak was hot, but the serving size was small. Also, they don't have fountain soda, it's from a bottle, and the diet coke was flat- yuck. Likely will not return.

The atmosphere is beautiful and perfect for date night. We enjoyed our time here and the food was a feast for the eyes. It was our first time eating beef tartar and it was delicious but a little too salty. They are pricey !

I get it now. Crawford & Son is that spot—and for good reason. It’s where everyone I know in Raleigh ends up for their special occasions, and after finally going myself, I totally understand why. It’s not flashy. It’s not stuffy. It’s just… effortlessly excellent. The kind of place where the food is Michelin-level but the staff makes you feel like a regular—even if it’s your first visit. The vibe? Elevated, local, and entirely unpretentious. Chef Scott Crawford and his team are true pros—the kind that know they’re the best, so they don’t have to act like it. Every plate is thoughtful, seasonal, and full of flavor (do NOT skip the manchego biscuits). And the energy in the room? Warm, grounded, indie soundtrack in the background, everyone just genuinely enjoying being there. Honestly, I wanted to gatekeep this neighborhood gem. But it’s too good not to share. This is what special occasions should feel like.

We dined here a couple of days ago and had a exceptional dining experience. The food was amazing, the bone marrow beef tartare and the short rib are must-tries. Highly recommend!!

Came to celebrate a Girl Friend's birthday. First time here and it was delicious. My drink the TKO had gin, watermelon, campari and coconut. It was so smooth and delicious...quite possibly dangerous after a few. My favorite drink now. We had a Pork Belly Special, Bone Marrow Tartare and Blue Crab Ditalini to start. All were beautifully and cleanly presented. Biscuits were a good salty and flaky. For entrees, had the Duck Breast, Sea Trout and Denver Steak, all were properly seasoned and cooked. We had all desserts except the sorbet. We were full but had to try them all and they did not disappoint either. Our server did a great job. Super friendly and wished my friend a Happy Birthday. Checking my calendar now to see when I can bring my husband. Can't wait. Also loved Brodeto!!

Ambiance was casual with a dash of quirkiness throughout the decor and even on the plates! Mixed menu of Tapas/small plates style and entree style dishes. Each one is a modern take on various food groups and flavor profiles. Service was great and attentive. They do not take reservations and they fill up quickly so I’d recommend getting there 20-30 min before they open and get your name on the list (even for the second/later seating) to secure a seat. Will definitely comeback as the menu changes frequently!

Overall I had a wonderful time at Stanbury. The atmosphere is very fun. The food is pretty good and the service was also good. We got the oysters that come already dressed which is nice so you don’t have to do the work. The bone marrow was very good, I especially liked the greens that came with it. The fish was the star of the show, it was so tasty! The sides it came with just made everything better and I kept wanting more. For dessert we got the halva rice Krispie which was ok, I was not wowd. Even though it came with the ice cream there was an element missing from being great. Drinks were decent as well, I especially enjoyed the last word. I’d definitely go back to see what else they have. It sucks they don’t take reservations so you have to get there at 4:30 to get a table that night. We arrived at 5:30 and got a table at 8:30. Not sure why they don’t take reservations in this day and age.

Best food I have had in NC since leaving new york ! A very creative menu that changes regularly. Great place for couples and foodies in general. The service was excelent and the menu was filled with delightfull options, making it very hard to decide. Stay for the desserts. We were highly impressed!

Just an amazing place. Such unique options, food is amazing, staff is super helpful. Get a bunch of small plates and share. Absolutely love this place.

Stanbury is my favorite restaurant in Raleigh. The food is superbly balanced and always fresh and inventive. Service is fantastic, and I love the eclectic aesthetic. It delivers an amazing experience without any pretentiousness.

WOW. Best food in Raleigh thus far. We tried to go to Stanbury at 5pm on a Saturday last year. That was a bust. You HAVE to be in line by 4:15 to even have a shot at getting your name in the list and being seated by 6. Went on Wednesday night - arriving just before 7 - and our party of 4 was sat outside (with heaters) immediately. Our server, Trudy (99% sure,) was phenomenal. She knew each dish and its history and gave us amazing recommendations on food and wine. My husband and I chose to share 5 small plates for our dinner. Our friends got two apps and the ribeye. We all tried one another’s food. Stupid good. I can’t comment on everything based on small tastes, but my standouts were the lamb and bone marrow. It was my friend’s birthday and they brought a slice of beach pie to the table. It was so refreshing and perfect!

My friends and I celebrated my birthday at Stanbury, and it was truly an incredible experience! The food was outstanding, and the service was top-notch. Our waitress, Grace, went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and accommodated our every need. Every dish we tried was bursting with flavor, particularly the roasted bone marrow, which was absolutely unforgettable. I can't recommend this place enough—a solid 10 out of 10!

Firstly, I have to give a note of appreciation to Megan Nichols and the team at "NC Eat & Play". It is because of their "Brunch Guide to the NC Triangle" that I even knew about St. Roch. I’m not exaggerating when I say this was one of the finest dinning experiences I’ve had in a long time. My aunt and I came here for brunch on a Saturday morning at 11am. From walking in through the arched vestibule to sitting at a back booth our expectations were only on the rise. My Meal Frenchman’s Punch Hama Hama Oysters (raw) Carolina Calabash w/ Fried Catfish Aunties Meal Irish Coffee Carolina Calabash w/ Fried Shrimp Side of Grits Beignets w/ Bourbon Caramel Sauce (shared) We were greeted by a handful of wait staff with friendly smiles and a southern greeting. We were waited on promptly by a very hospitable man who said cheers every time we ordered or he checked on us. They take the entire order at the very beginning and course everything out in the kitchen. Every detail is thought out to the letter! They even used cut pieces of paper from outdated menus as a barrier between the dish the food came in and the plate it was on. Resourceful and deliberate in every choice they make. And the food. Oh, the food! In a word, exquisite. The Frenchman’s Punch was very light and refreshing. A complexity of flavors that felt very southern and well balanced. The oysters were very fresh and buttery. We both ordered the Calabash and neither of us were able to finish all of it. About 15 min into the meal I realized that my fish was still steaming hot! Sometimes catfish can be oily, wet, gamy or some combination. This fish was none of those things. The breading was crispy and light while the fish was gently cooked and flavorful. The Calabash also comes with pomme frites and hushpuppies. Both were of excellent quality and perfectly cooked. The shrimp was very nice, nothing extravagant, but perfectly cooked, breading was thin and crispy (also had a little taste of paprika). These came with aioli and a buttermilk dressing, both of which were also wonderful. I think the star of the meal was the grits. These were not your ordinary grits. They’re high-quality, course, stone ground grits made with a béchamel sauce. I have never thought of adding béchamel to grits, but that is the only way I’ll make them going forward! Closing the meal with Beignets was also phenomenal. So perfectly made with a delicious sauce (really all of the sauces were fantastic), and we savored every drop. I cannot stop thinking about this amazing meal, service and restaurant. This will now be a regular stop every time I’m in Raleigh! Thank you for a perfect meal.

I have nothing but great things to say about St. Roch! The quality of the oysters were top tier and the service was unmatched. My husband and I were searching for a good oyster happy hour and landed here. $9 for a half dozen during happy hour was great, we ordered 2 dozen of their raw NC oysters and also had the roasted garlic butter ones as well. We will be returning, tomorrow for a round 2 and to explore more of the menu.

Just ate here for the first time and was very impressed! We had the cauliflower salad, which was delicious and unique, and the oysters/shrimp/crab combo platter — everything was super fresh and flavorful. The crackers and fixings for making little oyster bites were a great touch. The service and atmosphere were both excellent, and I loved the music selection (need to get ahold of that playlist!). We’ll definitely be back — thank you for a great experience!

So much is right and enjoyable here. The best extremely fresh oysters, lovely flavors in 'NoLa with a twist" main dishes and appetizers, calm friendly service from our favorite server Nathan (& his colleagues). Simply put, an inviting spot for couples, a small group, or going solo for the sheer joy of enjoying excellent food in a creative and well-appointed environment. When back in Raleigh I'll happily return!

Instantly my favorite restaurant in Raleigh. Everything is cooked and seasoned perfectly; I was only sad I couldn't try everything in one visit. We will be back for more! The oysters were delicious, even for me and I don't usually eat them raw. It was fun to mix & match all the different toppings. I also highly recommend the fried shrimp and the hushpuppies.

Service was outstanding. Oysters on half shell were very good. Char grilled were not the best. Gumbo had a lot of shredded chicken... wasn't so good. Service was awesome. No TV's, which was kind of weird to me.

St. Rochs absolutely blew us away. The food was phenomenal — every dish was packed with flavor and beautifully executed. Their happy hour oyster deal is truly unbeatable, and the quality is just as impressive as the price. Our server, Matthew, was outstanding — his service rivaled and even surpassed that of some of the top restaurants we’ve visited around the world. His attention to detail and warm professionalism elevated the entire experience. One note to the restaurant: please rename the “charred cabbage.” The name does it no justice and may be why it’s one of the most overlooked items on the menu. It’s beyond amazing — a must-try dish that deserves a better spotlight. Overall, St. Rochs delivers an exceptional dining experience on every level. We can’t wait to return!

I've heard about this place from TV and word of mouth. I tried to make a dinner reservation online but the website seemed to block typical dinner hours or their reservation was completely filled up far in advance. In any case, I've decided to try the lounge which opens at 3 and it's first come first serve. This place had great atmosphere. The decoration was unique. Totally southern barnyard feel. We ordered tomahawk ($95) and beef ribs ($40). In many reviews, people complained about their overprices, but considering the crazy inflation of beef prices these days, I thought their price was not unreasonable. However, the taste and quality of steaks were not as good as it looked. The meat was rather tough and bit dry. Unfortunately I cannot give more than 3 stars for that reason. It was a shame. I had a high expectation.

An amazing place!! From the cheese and crackers to the crudités platter to the juicy shrimp cocktail to the scrumptious filet mignon to dessert, the food was delicious! Jake was extremely knowledgeable and helpful. His sense of humor helped us relax and enjoy our meal and family time! The decorations were exceptional! It is a little pricey, but well worth it!

Visited for the first time this past Labor Day weekend. I got the surf and turf which was recommended by the server. The food was good, just slightly overcooked in most of the dishes. Something I normally don't mind, but given the price point it is of mention. I would come back as the environment is enjoyable and we did enjoy the appetizers and such. Thank you.

Awesome vibes- it truly does feel like a barn but they treat you to specular food and great portions. Even with a huge party, we had outstanding service and everything was delicious. Great spot for good meat!

Came to the angus barn for an event and man I couldn’t believe how good it was. Our event was held in the Wine Cellar, a lot intimate space for <50 people. Plated meal with an awesome Filet with bourbon sauce. Did not have choice of how it was cooked but I didn’t mind. I like a more rare steak and this was medium rare cooked to near perfection. Outstanding service by the team and worth the time to spend. Would consider this environment and service for a small rehearsal dinner or corporate dinner any day of the week. Restored by interest in coming back to dine in main dining room.

We have a fabulous time every time we visit! I recommend coming early so you can enjoy the bar space out front before your reservation. They have complimentary cheese and crackers and it is a fun space to hang out in all weather. I'm vegetarian, but I get plenty to eat here. They have two pasta choices. All of the staff is helpful and nice! The decorations and many dining rooms are so interesting and they are so fun when they are decorated for Christmas!

It was great. Wonderful service, very professional servers who seem trained in fine dining. The vibe is very "fancy farmhouse/cabin/rustic" which is a style choice I generally dislike, however this is cozy and clean and it works well for what it is. The restaurant is huge. We asked and they said they can seat up to 800 people at a time. That's wild. The inside floor has brick and the parking lot isn't smooth, just a heads up for other thin pointy high heel girlies, this isn't the spot to wear stilettos. Dress code is all over, button down and jeans or full suit, either way you'll fit in just fine. I did like that everyone tried to look nice but it's not overly formal unless you're really in the mood for that. The way they present Desserts is interesting, they show you almost all of the options. The service was phenomenal, that was my favorite part.

I’ve been to Beasley’s a gazillion times and every time I have an even better experience. This is my favorite brunch spot in Raleigh and my favorite dinner spot and it is the best place to find fried chicken with a consistent taste by far! The chicken flavor is so original to the point where I’m craving it on random occasions. This last visit me and my husband sat at the bar and we had Josh as a waiter/bartender and he was phenomenal! Like seriously 12/10 would recommend if you’ve never been to Beasley’s!

I came here with a friend for some dinner. The service was good we were seated quickly and had our food brought out quickly. We split the chicken wings as an app and I had the chicken and waffle for dinner. The appetizer wings were good but honestly nothing to write home about. I really enjoyed the chicken and waffle, I had the chicken breast which was good and the waffle was awesome. I do think it was a bit expensive... $9 for a bone in chicken breast is a bit steep but again, food tasted very good.

Came here for the Billie concert. Was my meal before the show. Flew from Indiana. Got deviled eggs. They were as expected. Got Mac n cheese, was not a fan. The chicken was good. Had better, but it was moist, crispy and season was nice. It was missing something though. Hit the spot nonetheless.

Very delicious!! There is always a long wait at dinner so plan ahead for that. It is next door to a parking garage as well. The gluten free options are amazing!! They have sandwiches on JP’s buns, fried chicken, cat fish, so many sides. The gluten free menu doesn’t mention it but the collard greens and deviled eggs are also gluten free. Everything we had was so tasty.

Apparently I have not been in Beasley's since my grandson was an infant. So, we brought him on Father's day with his grandfather. Our Grandson had a waffle and fried chicken (very sticky lol), I had the Pot Roast Meatloaf (very filling) and hubs had the Hot Chicken Eggs Benedict (we love the sneaky heat from the ghost peppers.) Our server was Cody(ie?) apologies.. :( attentive , patient and had a good sense of humor. Apologies for the food pix. I always forget......

Go this order to-go so maybe the in dining food is better. Upon eating it in the first 10 minutes of picking it up, this was not as good as I expected. Got the fried catfish with the coleslaw and fries, with sides of pimento mac and cheese, cheesy cheddar biscuit and golden rice. The most i can say in flavor out of these dishes are the fries. The mac a cheese was a block of cheese with no stretch and softness of the macaroni. the rice was undercooked but otherwise the flavor was good and refreshing, i’m just upset that it was a rice dish and it was undercooked, it’s not hard yall. i love coleslaw in general but this one tasted bitter and bad for coleslaw standards. the biscuits barely tasted flavored and didn’t feel like the flakiness of biscuits rather the texture tasted like powered mash potatoes but in biscuit form.

The Reaper Hot Chicken Eggs Benedict was exceptional. The fried chicken was a standout: perfectly crispy and not oily on the outside, yet wonderfully soft inside. It paired beautifully with the biscuit, which was a fantastic base for the Benedict.

We got a table outside right away, and there were fans. There are several options on the menu. We tried the mimosa and the iced chai latte, which were DELICIOUS! The avocado toast was good in my opinion but very small, so I also ordered the red shakshuka and the pork. I really enjoyed having breakfast here. The music was great too, and the service was excellent.

The staff was great and the ambiance was eclectic and relaxed. The gumbo didn’t not taste like gumbo. It was more like a soup and lacked the gumbo taste. Honestly it lacked taste in general. The first bowl came out luke warm but they quickly rectified that. The meatballs were good and had a nice flavor, I would order them again. I wish the spaghetti squash under would have had flavor like garlic or something but they were plain. My friend stated the steak was good but they ordered medium but the steak came out more well done. They had the sangria and stated it was really good. We will be returning, small menu options but nice change of scenery.

First time here and a really lovely experience. Food was delicious especially the blackened flounder sandwich, roasted oysters, and ricotta fritters! It was a nice day and we enjoyed brunch on the outdoor patio. All around great meal

I really enjoy everything about this restaurant! The amazing food, brunch is one of my favorites due to the amazing menu and drinks. The bartenders are fantastic mixologists, consistently good. If you haven’t tried the smoked oysters, they are an amazing little delicacy.

Service: I was welcomed immediately and the staff here were pleasant and helpful. I appreciated being treated kindly. Food: I enjoyed the veggie quiche. The cheese grits were also enjoyed. The quiche had a delicious rich and savory flavor and I enjoyed the flaky crust. Cocktail: I expected to sip on health, wealth and happiness when I ordered my espresso martini but the three beans were missing. The flavor was great but the presentation matters. Ambiance: I enjoyed brunch on the patio on a cool fall evening. There were heaters on the patio so I never got cold. The seating is comfortable and the atmosphere was very cozy. I do recommend Hummingbird and I love that there are reservation options.

Dropped in on a busy Wednesday and we didn’t have a reservation so sat at the bar… loved the atmosphere and the drinks were spot on! Hummingbird Fizz was delicious and $2 from each sale goes to Now Serving. Love that! We got excellent recommendations on the food from our friendly bartender. We tried the cauliflower, the Po’boy and the pork chop. All was beautifully presented and yummy! Great experience all around!

We were visiting from out of town and looking for a cute date night spot — Hummingbird was perfect! The restaurant is adorable, the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, there is ample parking and the food was all delicious — creative, solid plating and balanced flavors. We can’t wait to come visit again!

I'm visiting North Carolina and my boyfriend suggested Big Ed's for the country style breakfast. He easily found street parking nearby. It is first come first serve, but the line went very quickly. We maybe waited five minutes for a table. The service here is 10/10. Our waitress was the sweetest, but honestly everyone was nice. Southern hospitality at its finest! I also loved the decor. It definitely falls in line with a good ole country southern restaurant. The food was pretty good. I enjoyed the spicy sausage on my breakfast biscuit. The biscuit itself was a bit dense, but still buttery. The eggs were cooked to perfection. I had a few bites of my cheese grits and they were cooked well. I like my grits thicker, but that's a personal preference and I had to add a good amount of salt. Overall, I enjoyed my time here and i definitely would return!

This is a great place to get a filling and delicious meal. The service was excellent. Big Ed’s has a cool local vibe, full of quirky and charming decorations and signs. The portions are generous and the prices are great. I was just visiting Raleigh but if I lived anywhere nearby I would definitely gain weight! And I wouldn’t regret it! The menu is extensive and I had a hard time making a choice, but I had the fried catfish with eggs, grits and a biscuit. It was a little too much but I ate it all and felt great afterwards. Next time I’m in Raleigh, Big Ed’s will be one of my first stops.

If you are a local or traveling to Raleigh do yourself a favor and stop in! The food was so good that the plate was cleared completely off!! The catfish was cooked to perfection and left a lasting taste and memory all day unto the night. Our waitress Kathy was the best hands down when we go again we would request her by name. She made us feel right at home and it was not an act she genuinely loves the customers she treated every table like they were family. Please tell me you’re still reading this review because you’re on your way to the restaurant! The surrounding downtown area is suited perfectly for all people! There is a place for your dog, your kids, or jump on a scooter! You won’t regret coming to Big Ed’s! If I could rate higher than 5 stars it would be 10/10

Got the food everything was what we ordered, but the grits were cold and the food was also it was like they waited till all the food got prepared then brought it out as a cook. You don’t do that whatever you have ready first go ahead and take it out so people can start eating. Don’t wait till you get everything prepared then bring it, Lord even the grits were cold. They Didn’t have no smoke on them. You got to turn the fire up. Make everything hot coming to the table. pancake was bigger than the plate. Four people could eat off that come on Big Ed’s Got to do better if you want some business.

Visited Raleigh for a day and had the pleasure of stumbling upon this place. There was a line but I waited for, at most, ten minutes. The staff were all extremely friendly and embodied that southern hospitality. I ordered coffee and the western omelette with home fries and a biscuit. The coffee was strong and rich in flavor while the omelette was fresh and full of veggies and meat. The biscuit stole the show as it was fluffy, fresh, and delicious. Home-fries were basic, but when you have a great omelette, it doesn’t take away from the meal. Above all, my total was $13.50!! I was pleasantly surprised because in VA the same meal would cost me $20 and not be nearly as fresh. 5 stars! I cant wait to visit again.

First of all our server was very nice and cordial. So I’ve been here many times. But today was a disappointing lunch. I had the Blue plate special with cornbread and meatloaf and mac & cheese, and snap beans. And the blueberry cobbler for dessert. The meatloaf was salty and dry, the mac & cheese was dry, tasted out of a box and the cornbread was like Jiffy cornbread. The cobbler was okay but sort of dry too Have they changed their food supply service or the chefs? The cornbread used to be warm and like out of a skillet and today it was a very thin piece like out of a box. Just wanted to know what happened? They also charge you for using your debit card. I do hope that they can try and improve this. And I wasn’t the only one at our table of 3 that noticed it. I was so looking forward to a home-cooked comfort food that was fresh. Today it was not. I’m hoping that it was just an odd happening. And maybe it depends on the day of the week you go.

Great Southern breakfast spot. Vast menu fills your inner Rebel food fantasy. Grits, grilled bologna, biscuits, and if you dare, the hotcakes are massive. Plenty of parking, if arrive early.

Amazing Birthday Celebration I celebrated my birthday at Death & Taxes in December 2024 with family and friends, and the whole experience was incredible. Everyone in our group had a great time. The Second Rodeo cocktail was a standout—perfectly balanced with a smoky twist that I’ll definitely come back for. The food was delicious from start to finish—each dish was packed with flavor and cooked with care. The wood-fired cooking really added something special. The atmosphere was cozy yet modern, and the open kitchen made the experience even more engaging. The staff was attentive and made us feel welcome throughout the night. It was a memorable evening, and I’d highly recommend Death & Taxes for birthdays, celebrations, or just a great night out in Raleigh.

Death and Taxes is a great spot for a 4th or 5th date (or first, if you’re a big baller), or celebrating any occasion. The food is good to great, and service is really excellent! I tend to only leave 5 star reviews if this combination is met, and they definitely delivered. We are vegetarian, and it is pretty hard to introduce us to new ways to eat vegetables. So, the beet appetizer was a pleasant surprise as we hadn’t really had such a flavor profile before. The tomato appetizer was also good. We shared the vegetarian pasta afterwards, which was citrusy and good, although could have used more umami notes. The carrot side was also good, and family style sharing is definitely possible (or even encouraged?) here. All the dessert options and drinks are delicious. Our waitress was awesome, in line with other reviews. Shocked to hear it was only her second day on the job! Upon hearing about the reasons for our celebration that evening, she kindly brought out a little pour of something special on the house. But regardless of that gesture the attention and excitement she has for the food and our dining was impressive. Since I was a bit confused about dress code before going, I can now suggest this spot fits squarely into the category I call “if your shirt has at least two buttons, you’re good.”

We went to Death and Taxes last night for my boyfriend’s birthday, and honestly, WOW. From start to finish, this meal was unforgettable. The hardest part of the evening was choosing what to order, because everything on the menu sounded so good. Luckily, we went all in and it paid off. Drinks I ordered the Placebo Effect (Zero Proof) — clarified pineapple and orange juice, ginger, and coconut. This drink was phenomenal. Refreshing, bright, and perfectly balanced with just the right amount of tartness. It paired seamlessly with every dish we ate and was so easy to sip on that it lasted me the entire two-hour dinner. A true standout in its own right. Appetizers We kicked off with three appetizers: two seasonal and one menu staple. • Fried NC Shrimp, Buried Garlic Aioli, Pickled Green Tomatoes Hands down the star of the night. Perfectly fried, juicy shrimp paired with tangy pickled tomatoes and the most addictive garlic aioli (the kind you unapologetically scrape clean with a spoon). It was so good that after our mains, Adam ordered a second round. That’s how good it was. • Grilled Golden Beets, Roasted Beet Purée, Dill Crema, Fennel, Pumpernickel Croutons Refreshing and beautifully balanced. The light earthiness of the beets met its match with the creamy dill and crunchy pumpernickel croutons. A perfect counterpoint to the richness of the shrimp and oysters. • Roasted NC Oysters, Chili Butter, Preserved Lemon Gremolata These were the best oysters I’ve ever had. The warmth of the chili butter with that hit of lemony brightness made each bite sing. I usually struggle with oyster texture, but I devoured my half of the plate. A couple had bits of shell (a reminder of just how fresh they were), but nothing that took away from the experience. Main Course We let our server guide us, and she steered us toward the NC Fish with Black Rice, Smoked Oyster XO Sauce, Bok Choy, and Prosciutto. A flawless choice. The fish was perfectly charred and flaky, the black rice was creamy yet delightfully chewy, and the umami-packed XO sauce tied everything together. Even the bok choy, which I almost skipped at first, turned out to be one of my favorite bites of the night. The crunch of the prosciutto added the finishing touch to an already perfect dish. I will dream about this plate for weeks. Dessert Though we were nearly full, dessert was non-negotiable. • Grilled Cornmeal Cream Puff, Blueberry Mousse, Corn Flake Brittle, Burnt Honey Syrup Light yet indulgent, with all the right textures, airy mousse, crisp brittle, soft puff, and warm honey. It felt like the perfect bow to end the night. And because we couldn’t resist, we took home the Corn Frangipane Tart with Market Peaches and Embered Whipped Cream, which I happily ate for breakfast this morning. Sweet-tart peaches, smoky cream, a buttery crust with just the right bite, and a little crumble on top, pure magic. Honestly the best breakfast I’ve ever had. Final Thoughts What I love most about Death and Taxes is how intentional every dish feels. Each element highlights the wood fire at the heart of the kitchen, without ever being gimmicky. Everything we ate was layered with flavor, balanced with texture, and beautifully plated. This meal wasn’t just dinner, it was an experience. I can’t wait to see what’s on the next season’s menu, and I already know I’ll be back for those oysters and another round of the Placebo Effect.

The bread and pasta is fresh and delicious. The wood grilled oysters with clarified butter are delicious as they are unique. The cocktails are quite complex in their ingredients (especially one particular whiskey drink that includes mezcal and amaro combined) and there is a good local beer selection. I had the Boone County Honey Ale with my braised duck rye pasta.

They were accommodating for food allergies & made an off menu dish for my vegan friend. I got the spaghettini and felt the portion size was very small. The atmosphere was very nice. The food was rather forgettable for the price.

My wife and I had a great time at Death & Taxes. We had to change our reservation from a party of 4 to 2 after some friends couldn't make it. We called the day prior and D&T was kind to accommodate our change. We arrived about 35 minutes before our reservation time of 7:15 and mentioned to the hostess that we wanted to have a drink at the bar first before being seated. The hostess mentioned the bar was full but that they could go ahead and seat us at our table and we could be free to have a drink there and take our time to soak in the ambiance. That was a great accommodation. I ordered a perfect gin martini and always have to describe what that is. Our server took the order but the bar tender came to our table later to make sure he knew exactly what I wanted. That was simply outstanding service in a very busy restaurant. He made me two Perfect martini's for sure. I'm grateful for the attention to detail and the willingness to get it just right. Our server Caleb was super friendly and took great care of us. He was supported by at least 3-4 other staff that was always looking after us. We started with the tuna tartare served with pita points. It was different than we had before with other ingredients in the mix but was absolutely delicious. I would recommend this as a great variation of this dish. Our steaks were cooked to perfection for the filet my wife had and the aged NY Strip which was served with a brown gravy which I took on the side. The steak was clearly aged as described and still had a bit of the pellicle from the dry aging process on one age which I didn’t mind at all. This helped to form a great sear on that side and contributes a nutty and earthy taste which is great. The brussels sprouts were unfortunately a huge miss and were burned and undercooked at the same time. We didn't ask for it but they took those off our bill. It likely was just a new cook or just a bad batch as they looked like they could be excellent. Very excited to have dined at D&T and would highly recommend it.

Place is great! We booked a reservation for the weekend after Valentine's. The waiter and other staff were informative and not overbearing. Food was amazing. My husband doesn't like olives and was hesitant to get the shrimp sharing plate because of them, but I wanted it so we got it. It was our favorite dish of the night. The next day I told my friends that if I make it back out to D&T I would order 2 of this dish and call it my entrée.

In reality I like to try to reserve 5 stars for cream of the crop dining experiences and this sits closer to a 4, but I'm going to round up because I loved the farm to table vibe. All the food had a fresh homemade feel. Our server was excellent as well. Chicken and waffles was my favorite dish out of everything we ordered (I'm not sure I've had buckwheat waffles before but they were fire), and the collards were on point as well. Catch of the day - the plate looked semi skimpy in comparison to the fully loaded chick waffles dish, but the fish was cooked well and the little beet endive side dish added a nice refreshing touch (if you're in the mood for something lighter). I'm usually not a huge fan of creme brulee because I feel like it's generic wherever you go, but I loved the way they zested this one up with orange. I left here very satisfied with the experience and without a bloated / ate-too-much-junk feeling that's common when I dine out. Will definitely come back.

I had googled best restaurants in Raleigh and Mandolin was one of several that appeared. I made reservations online and did not have to wait when we arrived. We had brunch, and it did not disappoint. We started with a sugar and cinnamon doughnut. I had the omelette which had asparagus, mushrooms and Gouda cheese. It was delicious. My daughter said the BLT was the best BLT she’s ever had. Ethan was our server and he was awesome. We enjoyed the fresh flowers on the table The walls leading to the restrooms are lined with very cool pictures. We will be back and highly recommend Mandolin.

The staff was friendly and accommodating, making the restaurant a pleasant place to dine. I tried the fried cauliflower and chicken dish, which unfortunately made me quite ill. However, everything else on the menu tasted delicious. My girlfriend’s oysters and grouper were a hit, and they were prepared perfectly.

We visited on a busy Saturday evening with reservations for a date night. Our server, Priscilla, was lovely and attentive. We shared the cornbread. A little dry, but the butter was so delicious. We both had the tomato/peach salad. It was fresh and delicious. For main courses, we enjoyed the pork chop and chicken and waffles. Both were delicious and highly recommend. The dining area is a bit loud, but overall, a great atmosphere. We will return!

We went to Mandolin for brunch and it was really great. The location is awesome and the place is super cute. Fresh flowers on the table were a nice touch. We got the shrimp and grits and a Bloody Mary. Both were amazing. The Bloody Mary had the perfect kick without being over the top, and the shrimp and grits were just really well done. Our server, Leanne, was awesome. Friendly, fast, and knew her stuff without hovering. It felt laid back but still a little fancy, like the kind of place you could go in jeans or dress up for. Definitely planning to come back.

THIS is the experience you should have at every restaurant. Ever. We met Sean earlier today at Tepuy Donuts and he told us about Mandolin, his restaurant. I had never heard of it, so we made a reservation. Not disappointed at all. I was blown away and so was hubby. Katelyn was our server and she was the cherry on top of this cake of a restaurant. She was so sincere and so sweet, super soft spoken and funny. I would personally request her as our server again. The bartender/ mixologist came over to see how we liked the drinks, he had a Lavender Lemonade and I had the Carrot Cake Hot Toddy. Sean actually came over to see us and thank us for stopping by! I will say I felt a little special. Hubby was made a custom drink with apple cider, ginger and muddled pear. I had an amaretto sidecar with a twist. Knocked me on my butt, but it was so smooth. We actually came here for the steak and cornbread. The cornbread is unlike anything I've had, and the butter is low key spicy, flavorful and unique. Subtle, yet, it has recognizable spices that meld beautifully. The steak basically a fully grown cow that takes time to cook. It's big, yet cooked to perfection. We had it cooked medium rare. It came out served with hot and fresh vegetables, Swiss cheese potatoes and a pat of fresh made butter on the top. Everything, every little thing, was perfect. Perfect for a date night, celebration, or just because.

Service was top tier and our waitress was very kind and knowledgeable about the menu. I really wish that we had tried their brunch menu instead of dinner but we actually enjoyed what we did try. The steak frites was cooked medium but still a little tough to chew. Cocktail and beers were wonderful. Duck croquette and southern oysters and pearls was amazing.

"B" took great care of us on our first visit. We had a wonderful time and a big part of that was her attentive service. Thank you for making my birthday an evening to remember. The French onion soup was amazing and my wife's gnocchi dish was fantastic. It's a great place for a date night in an intimate environment. You may even end up having a fun conversation with the table next to you. 😃

Love love love this place. Chef Summer, Amanda, and Elliot are amazing—every dish is absolutely delicious, carefully composed, and beautifully executed. Their teamwork is like watching a choreographed dance. The hospitality here is bar none. Steve the bartender and Hostess Molly make you feel instantly welcomed. I am allergic to alcohol. Steve makes great mocktails and has a nice selection of different flavored sodas. Jolie isn’t just dinner—it’s a reminder of how joyful dining can be when food, service, and atmosphere come together perfectly. And why I have a standing reservation every week! Thank you Jolie!

We dined at Jolie for the first time for our anniversary and it did not disappoint! Highly recommend dining on the rooftop if it’s available. Ambiance was perfect for date night! We had the porkchop and gnocchi and both were delicious.

Steven was by far the most attentive, knowledgeable and welcoming bartender I have ever had the pleasure of being served by. He recommended great seasonal specials on offer and expertly paired each course with a suitable drink to really bring out the flavours of each dish. I went with the escargot and a rabbit leg special. I highly recommend a bar seat to watch the kitchen staff whip up the menu and get inspired for what to order next! 10/10

Who knew this restaurant was hiding on this tiny corner, and who knew they had a rooftop?? The food was delicious, especially the mussels in white wine sauce, and the rooftop atmosphere was pretty. Our waitress was friendly and seemed genuinely excited about the food on the menu. This was a great way to spend our anniversary ❤️

We had such a wonderful dining experience here! Every dish we ordered was beautifully presented and full of flavor. The little gem salad was fresh and vibrant, with crunchy cucumbers, toasted hazelnuts, and creamy cheese. It was a perfect balance of textures and flavors. We got the foie gras that was on the specials. GO for this right now. There was a sweet jelly on top and the flavors went together so well. The poulet au vinaigre was perfectly golden and juicy, served over rice and charred cabbage with just the right amount of sauce. Flavors were hearty, comforting, and elevated at the same time. The pan roasted halibut was our favorite, with a perfectly crisp skin and a creamy, herby/dill sauce that paired so well with the potatoes and greens. On top of the delicious food, the ambiance was warm and vibey. Everything tasted thoughtfully prepared and balanced. Perfect date night spot!

From start to finish, our meal was truly outstanding. Our server was absolutely exceptional—she brought such a fun, engaging, and personable energy to the table, making the entire experience even more enjoyable. Her recommendations were spot-on and genuinely elevated both our meal and our overall visit. Every dish we ordered was excellent—perhaps even better than on previous visits. It really feels like the kitchen has everything dialed in perfectly right now. The halibut, in particular, was remarkable—possibly the best fish dish I’ve ever had. And I can’t forget to mention my mocktail, the “Je Suis Blue,” which was incredibly delicious and memorable. All in all, it was a fantastic dining experience that exceeded expectations in every way.

This was my first time at this location. The steak tacos were smaller than expected but ended up being the perfect size. The steak had so much flavor and was delicious. I had a side of lime rice which came out more green than I expected but the taste was good. The staff was friendly but the service was slower than I would have liked. Overall the food was great and I would eat here again.

What a cool place! The spicy margarita was fantastic. The salsa was great. I had the Chili releno with pork. It's very meat heavy which I didn't expect but it was great! Every staff member we interacted with was exceptional. The decor and music is so fun! Will absolutely be back.

This is a very fun place. The service is excellent, as is the food. The extensive decor is interesting and colorful, imparting a great atmosphere.

The good: food came out quick, atmosphere was awesome and fun, and the staff were amazing The con: It is so overpriced for the portion sizes you receive. We were dissuaded from ordering specific items because of the passive aggressive “descriptions” (tall blonde foreigner that doesn’t know anything??) I ordered the Carne Asada tacos (3 tacos with a side) and the tacos were quite literally Lunchable size. Order was $71 for this, I just don’t see the appeal. It could be a cute spot to get chips and a drink, but the portion to price ratio is baffling.

Delicious food and a super fun atmosphere. My kiddo loves the robot that brings queso and dessert. The chilaquiles are excellent and so are the margaritas. The decor is festive and exciting. Definitely make a reservation as this place gets busy.

Place is always fantastic. None better. Consistently have had great experiences over the years. Some bad reviews here are clearly fake and I hope they get reported and removed. Owner has always been very nice to my family whenever we dine. Thanks for always delivering top notch everything

Finally had a chance to dine here and we were not disappointed! This restaurant has a nice atmosphere, good service and thoughtfully prepared vegan dishes. The food presentation was very good. The risotto was delicious and tasted very fresh. The peanut noodle bowl was also very good but quite rich and I would have liked a bit more spice; I would ask for that next time. Overall it was a nice dining experience and I will be back.

The Southern plate was amazing. Pulled bbq pork, tasted just like pork. I was really surprised to get a table. But we were willing to eat at 5pm. We sat at the bar and the mocktails with their unique delicious ingredients were out of this world.

We tried out the Fiction Kitchen tonight at their new location. The new space is absolutely beautiful and the food was outstanding. They have all the old dishes on the menu that we've always enjoyed, plus a few new items that were great too! Tonight we had the vegan meatloaf, an old favorite, and the vegan crabcakes, a new item! Highly recommended! Plus,- the bartenders make great drinks! ;)

FIVE STARS for Fiction Kitchen, Raleigh's Gateway Plaza — Yes, outstanding vegan food that even non-vegans will love! We enjoyed ice-cold house-made root beer, refreshing (and freshly made) cantaloupe soup, plus a double smashburger with cheddar, fresh toppings, and house-cut pickle fries. Desserts were next-level — a rich dark-chocolate pudding cake with butterscotch topping and a perfect chewy chocolate chip cookie. A chocoholic's dream even casual dessert fans will love these. Generous portions, friendly service, casual vibe. Dine in, take-out, or delivery. Plenty of parking in Gateway Plaza off Capital Blvd. (See photos of food and lunch/dinner menus. I included photos of the restroom – very clean and cool wallpaper!).

We are always on the lookout for a restaurant that makes both my vegetarian wife and me (an omnivore) happy, and The Fiction Kitchen delivers in a big way. This full vegan restaurant serves up some of the most satisfying comfort food we've ever had. I'm a biscuits and gravy enthusiast, and their vegan version is phenomenal; it has the richness and flavor that could easily fool anyone into thinking they were eating the classic, homemade dish. I highly recommend bringing any guest here and letting the food speak for itself—don't even mention it's vegan. Just sit back and watch them enjoy and be wowed!

Hands down I highly recommend this place. From the great food, to the awesome customer service to the beautiful decor and atmosphere everything was a 10!!!! The drinks were amazing as well!!

To me, Fiction Kitchen is a comfy, safe, relaxing venue with an eclectic, retro feel while keeping a modern edge. First time in, we enjoyed our varied culinary journey from start to finish. We’ll be experiencing this North Carolina Gem in the future. We already thought about and decided what we want to taste there next! We were greeted by Drew and Castle, who made our stay a welcome one. Their witty, professional, courteous service made us feel like we were visiting friends and family. As we bellied up to the bar what was there to do but enjoy a beverage for starters. After some discussion of the wonderful choices, we enjoyed “The Stalker” and a “Rum Punch”. I didn’t try my wife’s Stalker, but the Rum Punch was a wondrous bright infusion garnished with an edible Johnny Jump Up. Very unique flavor with a fruity finish. Later I had a “Flower and Flame” cocktail. A sensory adventure with its deep color, beautiful garnish, with a smoky surprise with each sip. This cocktail had the “finest fizzy” element to it. Loved it. My advice is to open up your mind and let Castle guide you through her magical world of mixology. Starting with the Cornmeal Fried Mushrooms we experienced what I would call plant based fried calamari. Paired with the Old Bay Vegan Mayo this was probably my favorite. Never saw the seafood flavor coming. What a great surprise. Shifting gears we went to the Kale Fritters. Big, bold, beautiful and once you bite in they remind me of Thanksgiving is all I can say. Comfort food score of 10! Chef, these make me want for a side of gravy to dip them. The little crispy chickpeas running through this dish are little tasty treats. Soo gooood. We couldn’t resist ordering the Cast Iron Skillet Cornbread just to have with us, to compliment our meal. This makes a great partner to anything you order. Watch the skillet as its hot out of the oven. Very well done with a finely crisped outside while moist and soft inside. Almost wanted some baked beans to pair with it so we ate half and took the rest home for that experiment. On with the entrees. The Southern Style Plate with popcorn chicken was full of a variety of high notes. I had an expectation the popcorn chicken was going to be lack luster as “popcorn anything” in my opinion always is, but I was wrong. These lil’ poppers were fun and made you feel like a kid with every bite. I say they are best eaten with your fingers and some dipping sauces. Castle innovated her recommendation in, to have us pair it with the BBQ Pulled Pork and it was a home run. It was like a culinary game, mixing and matching the flavors on our forks, getting a magical taste combination every time. My favorite was a scoop of mashed potatoes with a scoop of BBQ Pulled Pork. When I ordered I simply told Castle to bring me a wonderful meal, surprise me, and she came through with flying colors. The Hearts of Palm & Lions Mane Crabcakes were yet another layer of culinary comfort. It was nice to see both entrees have either a fresh salad or sauteed vegetable component. They brought color and balance to each meal. The fried foods weren’t greasy. All the dishes and drinks had several layers of flavor voices. The staff is both friendly as they are efficiently professional. The setting is balanced with a nice park outside for friends and family to spend some time away from the hustle, bustle and trying times we live in. Fiction Kitchen has mastered extracting the multitude of flavors from their source of foods. While others drown foods in sauces and give a monotony of “the same”, Fiction Kitchen somehow mystically brings so much abundance in their flavors while creating layered complexity, so every bite is a sensory journey. Wye Hill is such a great spot in Raleigh! The location is unbeatable — with plenty of seating, a relaxed, dog- and kid-friendly atmosphere, and one of the best views of the Raleigh skyline. The menu has a lot of great options, but I especially recommend the Wagyu Beef Burger and their Bloody Mary — both are excellent.

We had such a great experience at Wye Hill Kitchen & Brewing! The views of downtown Raleigh are absolutely stunning! It was the perfect spot for dinner or drinks outdoors, and there’s plenty of space for groups to relax and enjoy the evening. I ordered the pan seared salmon, which was perfectly cooked and full of flavor with the curry sauce honestly one of the best dishes I’ve had in Raleigh. I also tried their Mirasol cocktail — fresh, citrusy, and beautifully balanced. Every detail — from the food to the drinks to the atmosphere — was top-notch, and the service from Jordan and the manager Veronica was excellent. It’s clear the team at Wye Hill really cares about creating a great experience for their guests. I can’t wait to go back. Highly recommend this spot for anyone looking for amazing food, great drinks, and unbeatable views of the city!

Visited on Feb 25, 2025 I visited Wye Hill for the first time for an early dinner with a friend. The outside patio was pretty popular, so we decided to sit inside which was quite empty, but we didn't mind. The dining room was very small, but cute. We ordered the everything brussels and dill pickle pimento cheese to share. For the entree we both ordered the black rice gran bowl, one with blackened salmon and the other blackened shrimp. One thing I can say about the food, is that looks can be deceiving. When the food came out everything looked amazing, however there was a lack in flavor. The brussel sprouts came out to chared and the bottom of the bowl was filled with grease. We did enjoy the pimento cheese, but wanted to save room for our entree. The entree's were just okay. Not memorable! I think a sauce to go on top would have helped a lot.

This is a fun place! It has outdoor seating that makes it enjoyable to sit outside! The mocktails are delish! My buddies did really enjoy the beers that they brewed. Our server was so helpful and patient! She helped answer all our questions and very patient! I didn’t have any food but it looked delicious!

Really beautiful spot with a perfect view of downtown. September was our wait person and she did a very good job. Food was good. Bbq fries had too much coating and the Farmers Burger was ok. Salmon Cesar salad was fresh and salmon was cooked quite nicely. Deviled egg started was well done. They were out of a couple of beers. Not a great idea for a brewery.

My wife Jonnin and I visited Wye Hill Kitchen & Brewing because we’d heard it was the perfect spot to catch the sunset—and it absolutely lived up to the hype. When we arrived, there was a short wait for an outdoor table, so we put our names down and grabbed a drink at the bar. The beer selection leaned lighter, which isn’t usually my wife’s preference (she’s more of a dark beer fan), but Melany, the bartender, went above and beyond by offering to head down to the cellar for a limited run of a discontinued stout. We told her not to go through the trouble, but that thoughtfulness really stood out. Instead, we enjoyed a pair of IPAs—both fresh, crisp, and delicious. When we finally sat outside, the timing couldn’t have been more perfect. It was a comfortable 70 degrees with a light breeze, and the sunset set the entire skyline on fire. My wife couldn’t stop talking about how beautiful the view was. As for the food—outstanding. We ordered the hummus and pita, Brussels sprouts, and the wings with Dr Pepper BBQ: * Hummus – Creamy, smooth, with just a hint of cumin that elevated the dish and made it unique. * Brussels sprouts – Fearless. Most chefs try to tame the bitterness, but Wye Hill embraced it, surrounding the sprouts with bold flavors. The charred leaves gave it a crunchy, cheesy, buttery quality that was one of a kind. Easily the best Brussels sprouts I’ve ever had. * Wings – Magical. The Dr Pepper BBQ sauce was incredible, and instead of just crispy, the wings had a deep, satisfying crunch. Flavor and texture in perfect harmony. The service and atmosphere made everything even better. Our server, Ailine, was friendly, attentive, and genuinely made us feel welcome. The whole team worked together seamlessly, which is something we really appreciate. But the real standout was Melany. After we were seated, she surprised us by bringing over two glasses and a chilled can of that discontinued imperial stout she had mentioned earlier. She had gone down to the cellar anyway, just to make sure my wife got to enjoy a dark beer. That small but meaningful gesture left such an impression—Jonnin said it was the first time in a long while that she felt a place truly cared about us as customers. Between the incredible food, the sunset views, and the staff who go the extra mile, Wye Hill has won us over. We’ll definitely be back, hungry for more.

Great food, lovely outdoor patio, and pleasant service. Went for brunch. Brussels were delicious, sweet potato hash was good, and burger was delicious.

Neat idea. A stand alone food court. Also, it has a bar and some entertainment options. Indoor and outdoor seating with large spaces for moving around. Great for a college town. Individual shops/eateries that we visited were all pretty pricey.

I think it's really a cool place is definitely made for students. But my husband and I enjoyed all the different types of food that was offered.. We tried two different things. His was better than mine. He got a cheesesteak from a place and I got chicken Slovakia. i'll probably will come back next time in Raleigh and try out some other things. Oh I also did get some donuts and they were good. they had ax throwing in the back.

Great food hall! No matter what you're in the mood for, they have just about everything here. They have everything from Greek to Southern. Fried Seafood, pizza, tacos, burgers and they even have some places to satisfy your sweet tooth like sweet boba, rolled ice cream, macaroons and a milkshake establishment. We went on a busy Saturday afternoon and there was still decent seating options available both inside and outside. Not the most spacious establishment but it's comfortable. Very family-friendly and the wait times are pretty swift.

Morgan Street Food Hall is such a fun spot in Raleigh! Tons of food options all in one place, so everyone can find something they love. The atmosphere is energetic without feeling overwhelming, and it’s perfect for grabbing a bite with friends or exploring new flavors. We enjoyed walking around and checking out all the different vendors — everything looked delicious. Definitely a great stop if you’re in the area and want variety and a good vibe!

My partner and I purpose when we went to Raleigh is to go to Morgan food hall because we seen the Gym Taco was located inside. But also wanted to kill two birds with one stone because there were other food places we wanted to try while we were there as well. Therefore we tried Buena Papa Fry Bar and it was certainly a bar! We filled so much on our fries we were cromotose when we were done lol. The fries were so good!!! Barely finished them in the food hall. Flavorfull, big portions of everything added on to the fries and customer service was top notch ( Sowjanya B) who made our food. I suggest anyone has been there go immediately!!! $17 for the fries, worth it. Next we finally hitup Gym Taco, very small menu but to be expected since it was in the food hall. I had three tacos with El pastor on it, salsa Verde, pico and pineapple which was very interesting but overall tasted decent being my first time. My partner had gotten the shrimp gringas and oh boy his was so flavorfull yet small portions but packed a heavy punch of flavor. Highly recommend getting what he got. My tacos were $4 each and his $9. Then we went over to Times Square Deli, I got a Times Square Philly Steak that cost $14.99 with tax and add service $$16.68. Sorry not worth it at all, yes the hoagie was fresh and good but I had barely any meat in it, definitely flavor however I don't find myself going to them again. Lastly my partner went to Chopsticks X Forks and ordered orange chicken and rice with vegetables. Price was $14.95, the plate wasn't worth it but the flavor was good in his opinion and mine as well.

The food I ordered from the Cow Bar packed luster and flavor. It looks pretty, but there's no taste. Very disappointed.... Also wasn't impressed I was forced to buy a large fountain drink... Over $40 for two meals that ended up in the trash. Never again

Have been trying to get a reservation for ages and have not been able to (and I now understand why!) we walked in just after open and grabbed a table to celebrate a great week at work and we were not disappointed. The drink menu was great and I really enjoyed their European wine options (I had a Croatian crispy white that was perfect for a summer evening). Everything about the atmosphere is great. It’s elevated but comfortable, free and breezy at the same time. Loved everything we had. Highly recommend the trout if it’s still on the menu. I think some of the best prepared trout I’ve ever had!

Ajja exceeded all expectations! We went for a date night on our first wedding anniversary, and the ambiance was perfectly romantic and sophisticated. Our server was incredibly helpful and made us feel right at home. We started with the breads with feta and hummus dips (forgot to take pictures of those) alongside some cocktails. They were divine and top-notch. For mains, we got the chicken kebabs and trumpet mushrooms. The flavors were so complex and delicious. We finished the night with the sorbet based dessert. This is easily one of the best restaurants in Raleigh. We can't wait to go back!

This was the second time we've eaten here. It's it's really not your standard restaurant. Everything is so uniquely curated from the drinks to the appetizers to the entire atmosphere. I would go back here in an instant. Highly recommend.

We held a graduation dinner at Ajja recently. Our server Octavio and his counterparts were so friendly and attentive. The atmosphere with the open air door and windows made the experience extra special. The family style dishes were plenty and the food tasted delicious. I especially loved the pickled veggies and the roasted trout. I can’t wait to go back! Thank you to everyone who made our experience so special.

Ajja has been on my list for awhile now and I am happy to have gone last night. I have read countless reviews and I will agree- it is very good. But, it was not knock-your-socks-off amazing. I enjoyed the meal but I must say, the dessert stole the show. Flies did kinda take away from the ambience - but I get it, it’s summer in Raleigh and we ate on the coveted patio. I’ll go through what we ordered: - htipiti: the whipped feta that reminded me of pimento cheese. Really enjoyed but it was a very small serving for $11 (9/10) - assorted pickles: good I am a pickle lover and just wanted to try them (7/10) - spinach and cheese sfiha: (not pictured) tasty but not as cheesy as the title suggests. I thought it was very acidic and I don’t know if I loved the addition of pickled mushrooms (again I love pickles it was just a bit much, didn’t feel like those flavors meld together) (6/10) - coffee roasted carrots: tasty but nothing spectacular. I wanted more flavor on these. (6/10) - charred cabbage & broccoli: this one was extremely unique. Again very acidic but I reallly enjoyed the flavors. The porcini tehina balanced out the acid but there wasn’t enough of it imo, the mushroom 'nuoc cham' was really what elevated this dish! It had an Asian infused flavor that was enjoyable. This dish would have been addictive if the acidity was toned down a hair (7/10) - lamb seekh: saw this on many reviews. Very tender but did get some questionably chewy bits. The flavor was very good though. The accoutrements however: labneh, sweet pea chermoula, pistachio - I could have eaten by the spoonful (7/10) - blueberry posset: now this, I could bathe in. The brown butter tahini chantilly- I didn’t know how bad I needed this in my life. It was addictive. Paired so well with the blueberry, the tahini oat crumble & kataifi crunch was the perfect touch to give it some bite. (10/10 absolutely no notes) I would go just for this. Perfectly salty & sweet. Again, I came for my birthday and it was nice. The meal was good. The dessert was great. Overall, I just wish everything was a little less acidic! Some things were almost hard to have more than a few bites of. I’m curious if anyone else has these thoughts. Next time I would get the tagine. I wish they had 1 more salad-esque dish from the market menu.. The service was awesome though! And vibes were great. There were a lot of flies though (like at one point there was probably 7-9 flies on our food…)

The service was impeccable. Waiter was very knowledgeable about the menu and the history of the restaurant. Ambiance is on the fancier side with white table cloths and an emphasis on fine dining. The menu is varied with each dish being very complex with lots of flavors going on at once, borderline overly so. However, they are all in balance so everything still tasted good. I will note that seafood Paella was more of a jambalaya with Latin flavor profiles. But was still tasty. Definitely worth going at least once to experience the ambiance and the chef’s menu.

Best fine dining restaurant in Raleigh! My husband took me here to celebrate my birthday. The food was exquisite and the ambience was amazing. They even gave me a signed menu by the chef as a birthday gift. Truly loved the whole experience. Highly recommend it!

My family and I went there to celebrate. It was an amazing dinner. The food was so flavorful and different than any other place. The chef is very talented at combining flavors. The desserts were very unique, but very good. For example, their was a chocolate and apricot cake which I’ve never had before and it was amazing. It seemed like the chef put his own touch. Our family all ordered different dishes. The highlight of the night was definitely all of the desserts lol, the ribeye, and calamari. Also shouout to Amanda for remembering all of the dishes and specials lol 😂

Really cool restaurant with great food. Started with a 3 cheese plate. The sheep's milk blue cheese was the star of the show. They had a dinner course special of foie gras and a filet mignon. Both were paired with too many things to remember but everything paired really well together in every bite. A great balance of savory and sweet.

Our visit to Second Empire was absolutely phenomenal! Elegant Victorian house, the ambience set the tone for a perfect dinner. Every dish we tried was a masterpiece! Just amazing! Impeccable service!!! We felt like VIPs! It was our anniversary dinner and everyone at the restaurant made sure we had an excellent experience. I can’t wait to return! If you are looking for an upscale dining experience in Raleigh with unforgettable food and service, Second Empire is a must visit. Highly recommend!!!

We came to celebrate our anniversary, and the staff did several things to help us celebrate. Derek was our waiter, and he was very knowledgeable about not only the menu, but the history of the restaurant as well. Staff was very accommodating, checking in frequently but not too much. The food was delicious, and the presentation was fantastic. We started with the French onion soup and the roasted duck leg at pineapple salad. For entrees, we had grilled moroccan seasoned swordfish and the New Hampshire crabcake. Both were perfect! In addition to the delicious food, we enjoyed some of their signature drinks. To top things off, Derek gave us a tour of the home/restaurant. It was an excellent experience.

This is truly an exceptional dining experience. We enjoyed the atmosphere and the service very much. This is a special occasion restaurant. They made our 39th wedding anniversary very special!. We even had a signed menu from the chef waiting for us! Highly recommend for those special occasions!

I ordered the goat cheese and orange salad and came on without any goat cheese. My friend had to call the server to explain the situation. Then the server apologized and brought a small plate with goat cheese. Other than that the food was delicious.

Went out for dinner and the food was so delicious! We got the fried cauliflower as a starter which was fantastic especially combined with their pita bread which was just amazing. For my entree I got the artichoke chicken which was super flavorful and very light while also being filling. My partner got the sun dried tomato pizzette which was a very large portion for one, the crust was very well done and the toppings were quite tasty. Overall I would definitely recommend Sitti to anyone looking for a nice date night Mediterranean spot.

The tables had small vases with flowers, the menus had a very sweet backstory and the server was kind. I enjoyed the salad. No wilted lettuce, the oranges were good, the goat cheese was good, the silverware and menus appeared to be clean. The silverware was rolled correctly and during brunch the sunlight in the window seating area was beautiful. I felt the restaurant was quiet which gave a peaceful eating experience.

The food was amazing, but the surprise of gratis pita made the whole trip feel like a delight. Flavors and textures shined, and the pita itself was warm, soulful, and quietly magical. ✨

We stopped by this restaurant before heading to the symphony, and it happened to be during a busy downtown event. The place was packed, and it seemed like the staff was a bit overwhelmed—but they handled it as best they could. Despite being short-handed, the food was genuinely good and the atmosphere was lively and enjoyable. One suggestion: it might help if the hostess or non-serving staff could assist with basic guest needs like refilling water or checking in, especially during peak times. Overall, it was a pretty good experience. A little chaotic, but the quality of the food and the vibrant setting made it worth the visit.

Food was great! We had the dip trio and halloumi app, and for food the salmon which were all good. The bread was nice and unique as well.

I have been here a few times and the food is undoubtedly great! However, the service was very slow. There was a 30-minute wait to get seated which was fine. After getting seated, it took around 15 minutes for someone to attend to us and bring water. Then it took another 20 minutes for that waiter to come back to take our order. Then it took almost another hour (yes, an hour!) for them to bring the food. And this is the case with every customer that night. Finally the food arrived and it was awesome. The manager came by and apologized for the delay. Then the bill came. They gave 50% discount and then gave a couple of Baklavas in a box. I really didn’t want any discount as I enjoyed the food. I thought it was a great gesture acknowledging the slow service. It’s worth noting that I went there on a Saturday evening and a few events were happening in the downtown. The whole city was packed with people and understandably the restaurants were super busy that night.

Located in the downtown area of Raleigh, Gravy has been around for a couple of decades which tells you that it must be good. Service was excellent! Can’t remember our server’s name but it was Italian sounding because we even joked about it. GRAVY = pasta sauce, that’s how the Italians refer to it. The calamari was one of the very best I’ve ever had, as well as the chopped salad. And the complimentary garlic knots was the bomb. I would return in a heartbeat for the appetizers and the great and friendly service. Parking is available across the street.

We had a really nice lunch at Gravy. The atmosphere was warm and inviting — perfect for a cozy date spot. They have some great booth seating and lots of tables set up for parties of two, which makes it feel intimate and relaxed. Definitely a place we’d visit again for a casual lunch or a night out.

We came for dinner around 8pm Saturday night. Unfortunately they were out of a lot of things like gnocchi and chicken parm, and it took a while to get our food after ordering. We got the carbonara, vodka ravioli, scallop risotto, margarita pizza and chicken cacciatore. The carbonara and ravioli were good, the chicken cacciatore and scallop risotto were ok. I wasn’t a fan of the margarita pizza, but the tiramisu was really good and probably my favorite item out of everything.

We tried a few different apps and entrees. The bruschetta pizza, risotto balls and vodka ravioli were yum. The chicken parmigiana was a let down. The sphagetti was chewy with very little gravy. The biggest disappointment of the night was definitely the service. The server was not friendly at all. At times, i felt like she was rude.

Stopped in for dinner and didn’t have a reservation, but they happily sat my husband and I straight away! I enjoyed the Frutti de mare which was delicious. Our server Patrick was training and he did great! All of the staff were friendly and smiling! Will be back.

The atmosphere, service and experience was top notch. The food was good but for the $105 we spent on 2 entrees and 2 cocktails I would expect a little better. Maybe it was when we visited or just an off day but that's my honest opinion.

This restaurant was a dire disappointment. Perhaps the fact that it was quite empty when we walked in on a Friday night around 8:30 pm should have been an indication that the food was not great. The server was great but the food was terrible. The pasta was dense and the eggplant parm was a mushy mess. The carbonara was over creamed and, again, the pasta was too dense. I would steer anyone with a reasonably sensitive palate away from this establishment. The only thing it has going for it is its central location in downtown Raleigh.

The booths are a teeny bit of a tight fit in some areas and parking is tricky but otherwise I love this place. Second time I've been, delicious food and friendly staff. My friend who lived in New York said she dreams about the steak tacos. I had the carnitas that are beer marinated and they were so tender and flavorful. Will be glad to come back again sometime. The live chicken coop is a super fun feature as well! It's a good idea to make a reservation here it was packed even at 5pm on a Friday.

Had a wonderful time here with a big group of friends for a birthday. The chicken coup outside was cool and unexpected. The carnitas were dry, but the enchiladas and the salsa were amazing. I would definitely come back. It’s nice they allow large party reservations. Hard to find parking when it’s busy.

Jesus was great. Service was quick and friendly. We had a very long 2 hrs wait foe fhe queso train and finally opted to eat at a regular table. The drinks were great. Bartender took a large order and never wrote it down. Definitely recommend stopping in. But expect a wait for for the train. And the birthday part was perfect!

Waitress was sweet and did a great job. Food was fresh and delicious. Parking is no problem. Can get loud quickly and may be tough for those with trouble hearing in crowds. Fun atmosphere. Give it a try.

This is a great local Mexican restaurant in Raleigh with a fun and unique vibe. Dips are brought out by a small train near the tables it serves. Food is tasty, and I like both the steak tacos and the steak fajitas. The beef was thick, not skimpy. Salsy is fresh, and the guacamole is even fresher and seasoned just right. Parking is a challenge as the lot cannot accommodate all cars and space is tight. An added attraction is the chicken coop outside.

This place was a great experience. The food was amazing and tasted fantastic. The decor and atmosphere around the resturant was unique and authentic. The service was slow, but the fun of the train made up for that.

first time coming in and the chocolate was pretty good! they make them in house which is neat. i liked the lemon chocolate the most. the others were good but a little too rich for my taste. the ice cream with toffee was probably my favorite. soft served ice cream with crunchy bits of toffee. it is on the pricey side but i still enjoyed my experience and the food items nonetheless. the outdoor seating is nice and is dog friendly.

A cute little chocolate shop with a great range of treats — from chocolate snacks to coffees and ice cream. You can even walk around and see the different machines they use to make their chocolate, along with informative signs showing how cacao and coffee beans are made. I went with the chocolate soft serve ice cream covered in cookie dough, and it was absolutely delicious! Would definitely go back. 🍫🍦

Videri chocolate factory is divine. They actually make their chocolates here in this building. You’re able to tour the facility and if you participate in a scavenger hunt you get a chocolate treat for completing it. You’re also able to sample their chocolates, and they have a healthy variety. Most of their chocolates are dairy free. Videri sells chocolates and soft serve ice cream, while inside the same building there is Black and White which sells coffee. The sitting area inside is cozy and they have free WiFi. There is also a nice patio area to sit beside the building and also some benches outside of the entrance. This is a high quality and super friendly local business. They sell the perfect chocolate gifts for your loved ones. If you’re in the area you definitely need to treat yourself here.

A must see! Very cute, self-led, and informative tour. The chocolate tasting was very fun and I was blown away by the flavors. They have coffee, ice cream, truffles, and local gifts in addition to chocolate bars. Excellent staff!

This is a wonderful, cozy spot for coffee and chocolate, but the real star is the handmade soft serve. I highly recommend the swirl—it was absolutely delicious! Topped with whipped cream and blueberry jam, it's an unforgettable treat.

Our last stop before leaving the town! They have really fascinating and elaborate chocolate making machines and educate us every step of the way. You can smell very fragrant and nice chocolate smell the moment you walked through the shop. You can ask for samples too! The lady there was very nice and willing to share more about the chocolates that you're getting. We also got sipping chocolate, which is really interesting because I never had sipping chocolate before! It was thick, a little tangy, but a really nice flavor.

This place is amazing. I'm in town once a year and have been trying to come here for the past 3, but kept missing their open hours. Finally made it this year and it did not disappoint. You want hot dogs? They got em. Bring cash. The definition of no frills. Great service and atmosphere, friendly staff and owners. So glad I was able to stop in.

A relic of a bygone time in the best way possible. Patrons of note snipped all over the back wall, the old-fashioned hot dogs cooked right in front of you by the owner and chef. It felt like a mom and pop cooking for the family. "Warm and friendly" doesn't do it justice. Buddy of mine ordered a bottle of coke and it came with a complimentary pack of Planters peanuts, and all meals are ended with a small, free Tootsie Roll. They take care of you here. You get a sense of community, even if it's your first time. I ordered two all-the-way hot dogs (mustard, onions, slaw, and chili), and it was the best ten bucks I'd ever spent. Perfectly classic. They also serve brats, homemade pound cake, and homemade baklava. Those are on the agenda for next time, for sure!

Wonderful place to eat hot dogs. Home made chilli and slaw, special ordered mustard like no other, onions are soft and sweet and slightly caramelized. Great fellowship with the owners. First time there and will definitely be back.

My forever Hotdog spot hands down!!! It's a tight spot but the nostalgic feel when you dine in just make You enjoy the hotdogs the more. You can sit there and 3 dogs before You know it. Absolute perfect atmosphere for a hot dog joint. I've had better dogs, but I've never had them at a better spot. Dogs were perfectly charred and the chili was great. The slaw wasn't the best I've had but it didn't take anything away from the dog. Service was as sweet as the Tootsie Roll that was handed out at the end. Probably couldn't bring the boy because... NO KETCHUP ALLOWED!

For the last few years every time I pass through Raleigh I have tried to stop and get a hotdog after seeing the restaurant on Man Vs Food, unfortunately they are always closed when I get there. Maybe next trip I'll get lucky. .

Like taking a step back in time in the best way possible. One small lunch counter and 2 small tables. No frills hot dogs, a few simple sides and soft drinks. Hot dogs are cooked perfectly and staff is friendly and attentive. You can also get your dogs to go if its full inside. Definitely recommend if you are in the area.

Lucettegrace is our go-to spot for a special treat. The croissants are unbelievably flaky and buttery, and the coffee is always smooth and delicious. The staff is friendly, and the atmosphere is warm and welcoming—even our kids love it here! A perfect place for a family pastry stop in downtown Raleigh.

When you enter there are a couple stairs to reach the counter. There are lots of yummy treats available. Many pastries. Prices are between $4 and $10. They have a couple gluten free options but no gluten free pastry. There are multiple coffee options. I had an Americano and it was good. My son really enjoyed the fruit pastry he got. It had custard and strawberry type preserves. Well baked and flaky. There are 2 restrooms available. The one I used was clean. The one complaint is that it was hot inside. They could enjoy the use of the air conditioner more to make patrons more comfortable.

I am a CLT native and came to Raleigh for the weekend to visit family. We stopped in for a bite. Ahhhhamazing! It's pricey but SO worth the bills. We had the London Fog, the ultimate cheese toast ( they told the absolute truth) and savory muffin with sausage gravy inside ( can't recall the official name). Each and every bite was super yummy! The staff is kind and patient ( two littles with us) and the ambiance is perfect. Local art featured for the decor. Don't hesitate to stop in and as a guest to the city, after Dix Park this is my new Raleigh fav👌🏾 If your from CLT like me and know and love Amelie's this is going to remind you of them!

I would rate a 3.5. I got a caramel latte and a changes in latitude. I'm sharing an image of macaroons but have no idea what they taste like. The changes in latitude is a coconut tres leche cake, keylime custard on the inside. There is a mousse topping with a strong lime center. I would have liked a bit more keylime flavor in the custard. For me, it was barely noticeable but spreading the lime cream up top provided the flavor. I liked the texture of the dessert overall but if it wasnt for the mousse and lime center on top, it didn't taste like much of anything to me. The coconut was barely noticeable which for me is a plus, I dont do coconut but was trying something different. Its is not a sweet dessert nor was I looking for that. My coffee was good but I can't really judge it with the dessert as the start of my experience while waiting for the coffee. The ambience was nice and the woman helping us was nice enough. We didn't chat about anything, but she definitely wasn't rude or acting annoyed as some places. She walks your drinks over after she prepares them, so this could be a bit time consuming for someone in a hurry. Another staff member finally came out to help. I would go back, for coffee/latte. The price, $6, for it was along the lines of all the other places selling coffee in that area. But I do think the pastries are expensive. Today's market, what isn't?

I gotta be honest. I was going to start with "it's a little pricey", then I had one bite of my L'Italien sandwitch and I was like "jeez, it's totally worth it"!! We also loved the desserts. My favorite was raspberry barret 💜.

First timers, my husband and I visited this morning and I got the ham and cheese croissant and my hubby got the curry chicken sandwich. We grabbed a few other pastries too. The lucette coffee was amazing and the gentleman that helped us was so helpful. My toasted ham and cheese croissant... to die for!

This bakery was absolutely unreal. From the Italian sandwich and kouign amann to the cheesecake and chocolate mousse dessert, every item was made with finesse and care. The flavors were strong and balanced with textures that kept you diving in for another bite. Every item deserved a Paul Hollywood handshake. The friendly, patient staff were happy to offer recommendations and created a truly welcoming atmosphere. Honestly, I am so impressed by this place, and I can't wait to go back.

Slow service- compared to other locations. This location is not free standing but it has indoor and outdoor seating. I always enjoy the flavor of the day.

I decided to finally try Goodberry’s as a new Raleigh resident, and it certainly did not dissapoint! I came in at 8:00 when it was super busy. For a hot July day at night, the employees were very friendly and accommodating. Tommy recommended his favorite mini vanilla with oreos, and was friendly when I asked questions, even though the place was packed. I am so glad he recommended it, because the ice cream was gone before I could even drive home. The ice cream here is a whole other level of addictive, and didn’t even mess up my stomach (as someone who is extremely sensitive to dairy). I grabbed a mini vanilla with strawberries for my best friend, and he devoured it this afternoon! In his words: “that was fire!”🔥 Will be coming back for more!

I had a $25 gift certificate so I stopped and got a couple of sundaes to go. Heath bar sundae and the strawberry shortcake. They were tasty but melted and soupy. It was free essentially so not gonna complain.

We stopped by on a Saturday afternoon at Cameron Village. Super crowded. There were 2, that's right a total of 2, people on duty. They were energetic and personable, but the shop was woefully understaffed. (See my photo in line.) I blame management for fosting this naked money grab on its customers. Avoid this location like the plague.

We tried the Carolina concrete with vanilla, KitKat, hot fudge and mocha syrup with macadamia nuts. It was good. Next time we are going to have without the nuts. Service was great and it was crowded when we went.

SOOO DELICIOUS. The custard with the brownie at the bottom was a beautiful combination! I wish they had smaller sizes though because I feel like this size (the smallest we could get) was a lot for one person. I shared this one!

We had a Sunday night reservation here and it was good. We only ordered pastas and didn’t try any of the meat entrees.The pastas were good and the atmosphere was nice. I would go again but it wasn’t a place that was super different than other nice Italian places.

Cucciolo Terrazza - A Birthday Celebration to Remember!" My friend and I decided to celebrate our birthdays at Cucciolo Terrazza, and what an incredible choice it was! From the moment we arrived, the staff treated us like royalty. We were fortunate to have Jadon as our server. His expertise in guiding us through the menu and making outstanding recommendations truly made our experience unforgettable. Our feast consisted of ARANCINI, CAESAR SALAD, GOAT CHEESE FLATBREAD, WILD BOAR AGNOLOTTI, CATCH OF THE DAY, and, of course, Cannoli for dessert. Each dish was beautifully presented and bursting with flavor. The ARANCINI and WILD BOAR AGNOLOTTI were standouts - absolute must-tries! For drinks, we opted for coffee and vodka, which complemented our meal perfectly. To top it off, the warm and attentive service from the entire staff was exceptional. Their genuine care and hospitality made our celebration even more special. My husband and I came here for our anniversary on a Monday night. I had a reservation, but it really wasn't that busy. We were seated right away, and our server was nice and attentive. We both got cocktails. I can't remember the name of mine. It was fine but not worth getting again. They give you bread with olive oil and vinegar, and it was good. We also got the arancini, which was delicious! They took a very long time with our entrees, and our server apologized for the wait. I wouldn't have minded having to wait so long, but when we did get them, my dish was not hot. I got the tagliatelle bolognese, and while the top was warm, as I kept eating it was cold. Meanwhile there was steam coming off my husband's dish. I have a feeling something went wrong and my dish was just sitting under a warming lamp. I might consider returning since the arancini was very good, and the bites I had of my husband's alfredo were delicious.

Came for Sunday brunch and it was fantastic! Some of the best vodka pasta I have had. Definitely will be back in the future

Delicious brunch! I had the Tuscan scramble and everything was well seasoned and delicious. Waiter was great- on top of it but not obnoxious. We unfortunately were the only table in the entire restaurant from 11:15-12:45 though…. Hopefully people hear of the high quality and it does well!

Most perfect atmosphere for anyone looking to unwind in a quiet, beautiful, welcoming space! And the food, literally the best Italian restaurant ever! The staff was also wonderful. My fiance arranged to propose to me in the restaurant, halfway through dinner, and our wait staff and host assisted him in making that happen, which I found to be extremely thoughtful! Modern vibes, great food, amazing people! Bello!

Absolutely loved this new, fresh take on Italian here in Raleigh. The atmosphere is dramatic and inviting, but not suffocating. The wait staff is pleasant and prompt and willing to answer any questions about the menu. Our waiter knew the menu by heart and had some fantastic recommendations. Out of all the dishes we had, the best by far were the wild boar pasta and the seared octopus. I’ve never had anything like these two dishes before! There were a lot of people there, but it didn’t feel crowded and the bar stayed busy the whole time we were there. Their menu does change, so I recommend you go soon before some of those fantastic dishes are gone.

Although we already had high expectations coming here, we were amazed by how great of a dining experience we had. Chef William truly is an artist and master of his craft. Each dish (and we tried a bunch!) could be it's own main event and it all delivered on the tasting experience. The staff was all wonderful- Friendly, attentive and engaging from the moment we walked in until the very end. This is our new favorite place (sorry Crawford & Son). Don't skip on the cheesecake!

East End Bistrot is pure magic. We had the most incredible evening on the Champagne Terrace with sparkling cocktails in hand, golden light, and the kind of atmosphere that makes you feel like you have slipped away to Paris. The ambiance was flawless and every detail felt thoughtful and transportive. Executive Chef William D’Auvray has refreshed the menu to make East End just as inviting on a weeknight as it is for a celebration. The Champagne Terrace plates, the expanded wine by the glass list, and the French inspired classics with a modern touch make every bite feel both elevated and approachable. What made the night even more special is how kindly the team worked with my vegan restrictions and dairy allergy. Every detail was considered, and I felt fully included in the dining experience without compromise. Raleigh is lucky to have such a destination and we cannot wait to go back.

I had a wonderful time at East End Bistrot! From the moment we walked in, we were greeted warmly by the hostesses and the beautiful architecture. We were sat and immediately greeted by Matt, our server who was extremely caring and knowledgeable of the menu. The appetizers, mains and dessert were ALL amazing and presented beautifully. Throughout the service we were consistently checked up on by the server assistants, our server and the manager. I can’t explain how much the staff really cares for the people who dine here. Every part of this dinner was intimate and catered to us individually. I would recommend this place to anyone, and I will for sure be coming back!! Thanks East End team💗

We came here to celebrate Valentine’s Day, and as someone who appreciates high-quality food and frequently dines at Michelin-starred restaurants, I was pleasantly surprised. Given how challenging it can be for the kitchen and staff to handle the pressure of such a busy occasion, they did an exceptional job. The food was outstanding and arrived very quickly. The oysters, tuna crudo, and steak were all delicious, and the red wine by the glass was excellent. Beyond the food, we were truly impressed by how well everything was organized—the attention to detail was remarkable. Our server, Liza, was amazing and took wonderful care of our table. A big thank you to the entire team for an incredible experience! We had an amazing time and will definitely be coming back.

Mains were excellent, but all other courses were disappointing - not worth the price and I wouldn't return. The fish cru appetizer was fine but nothing special and the lamb dumplings smelled great, but the dough was chewy and the flavor nothing special. The ice cream on the apple tart dessert was great but the tart itself was mediocre with a hard-to-chew crust and basic flavors. The bread was good, but oddly there was under-salted warm whipped butter and not the usual French butter I would have expected. The mains were actually extremely flavorful and well cooked with succulent sauces (steak and pheasant), but still not worth returning to such a pricey restaurant that can't execute well on all dishes.

The first time we came to East End Bistrot was for my birthday in May. From the reservation desk with the host and throughout the entire experience we were well taken care of. After the amazing first experience, the bar was set high. We were concerned that perfection couldn't be replicated and may be let down the second time. We were ABSOLUTELY wrong. We were greeted this week with a welcome back by the same friendly host and GM of the restaurant! Truly a WOW moment to be remembered. East End has officially been crowned as our favorite restaurant in Raleigh, and I consider myself a foodie. The filet is amazingly tender, the steak au povire is great, the gratin dauphinois is otherwordly, and the brussels are a treat! All the cocktails we've gotten have been very flavorful and complex. Our servers have provided excellent recommendations, been attentive, and delivered impeccable service. Everyone truly works together like an orchestra at this restaurant, adding their own unique impressions to create an unforgettable experience. Thank you to everyone that is involved in making this GEM of a restaurant possible. We already look forward to our next visit! TL;DR: Don't think about it, just go! You won't be disappointed!

Incredible experience. Huge shout out to the chef first and foremost, for being present and assuring top quality of every dish. There was not a thing that wasn't perfectly cooked or seasoned. Everything we ordered, which was about 8 things, was perfect. Front of house matched the kitchen on every level with top class hospitality and knowledge of the menu. Our server, (I'm so sorry for forgetting her name..glasses/piercing, with trainee who was also amazing) and the girl who seating us (hostess, or perhaps manager) made us feel like VIP. Greatly appreciate the amazing night, team. Don't know why it took us this long to try this spot. We will definitely be recommending and be back ourselves with friends, as we now know this is one of the best restaurants in the area.

Loved the vibe at Brodeto the glowing bar alone makes it worth a visit. The menu is seafood-forward and super creative. Plates are definitely on the smaller side for the price, but the flavors make up for it. Cocktails were balanced and fun, and the service was great. Perfect spot for a date night or when you’re craving something a little different in Raleigh. Can’t wait to come back and try more!

My husband and I finally made it here for dinner and were very happy with the overall experience. For me, personally, I wasn't really excited about the idea of this place solely because of my dietary restrictions. As someone with Celiac Disease (have to eat gluten free) and following a vegan dietary pattern, I didn't see one thing on the menu that even looked like it would fall into something I could eat. But.... The chefs here are actually real chefs! They are artists who seemed to get excited to come up with something new and stretch their creative skills. Now... This is my kind of chef! Chef Connor and his team were phenomenal! I was able to get the Tomato Salad to start and they just modified it to make it gluten free and vegan. The basil oil they use on it not only holds it's own but is a culinary delight. I'm going to have to start making it here at home for my own dishes, it's that good! I ordered the Rigatoni for my main, which they were able to make gluten free and vegan as well. It was chock full of fresh summer zucchini, which was a very nice touch. The sauce there used on it was also extremely robust and flavorful. To our surprise, they brought us each out a dish in between the stater and the main to try. They just decided to whip something up on the fly and it was magical! Mine was a zucchini base, but it had some sort of chili sauce with it that was not only spicy and smoky but just the right amount of salty as well. There was also a hint of sweetness to it, and the flavor combination just really made the dish phenomenal. I asked them if it was on the menu and they told me it wasn't. I told them it DEFINITELY needs to be! I don't want to discount out wonderful server, Amber. She was not only very friendly and attentive, but knew what they could do for me from a culinary aspect for my starter and main almost immediately. She did confirm with the kitchen prior to putting the order in though, which I greatly appreciated. If you decide to dine here, I highly suggest asking for Amber, as she was wonderful! She also helped me with a drink selection, after Jordan (the head of all beverages for Crawford) had greeted us initially and gotten our first drink. Both of them were very spot on when it came to choosing the right drinks for my specific preferences. Overall, I can't speak highly enough about this place. Yes, it's a pricier dining experience. So, for us, this would be a very rare treat. But since our anniversary is next week, we just treated ourselves to this experience to celebrate. If you haven't had the opportunity to check this place out yet, you really must give it a try. If they don't have anything on the menu that looks like you'll be able to eat it, just let them know and I'm sure they'll come up with some delicious creations just for you.

Loved Brodeto so much on our first visit that we brought visiting friends back to show off food in the Triangle. The space is gorgeous. Great for date night or a small celebration. The staff is always warm and kind. Highlights: amberjack crudo (bright, silky, omfg), scallops (my fav), focaccia (perfectly baked), and the little gem Caesar. For mains we shared the chicken-liver agnolotti (shockingly hard yes), rabbit orecchiette (hearty, cozy), linguine al nero with sea urchin (yeees), plus the whole branzino (perfectly cooked). Rounded out with the baby carrots and kabocha polenta sides. There’s a lot of natural light during the day and at night it shifts into a cozy-lit vibe. It’s also in a cute area for a post dinner stroll :)

Service was awesome. Shoutout to Luke our server! Since we walked through the door we were well taken care of. Starters were focaccia, whipped ricotta, oysters and scallops. Pastas we had tortellini, rotolo and gnocchi. Main entrees we had the brodeto with octopus and pork chops. They threw in an extra order of ribs. Deserts were ricotta cheesecake, pumpkin and vanilla gelato mixed and chocolate mousse. Highlights were scallops, gnocchi, brodeto and the mousse.

All dishes were delicious and well prepared. We gave our entire order at the beginning and were served the crudo prior to receiving our bottle of wine which did not come in a chiller. The tables are TIGHT! I felt like for the servers to take orders they had to stand awkwardly between the two tops.

Our 3rd visit to Brodeto, and our 3rd time we were impressed! Our party of 5 ordered lots of different dishes and we loved them all. So fresh, inventive and delicious! The scallops were probably the best I've had - so flavorful & delectable! The Little Gem Hearts salad is our favorite salad anywhere. The Linguine al Nero was incredible! We also got (but not pictured) the polenta, gnocchi and Croatian Pogaca bread and all three were delicious. Everything was. It was a fantastic way to celebrate our 35th wedding anniversary with our family and we are all looking forward to going again! Niko (Nikko, Nico?), our server, was so fantastic. Super friendly and nice! Delicious! We’ve been wanting to try Brodeto for a while but live in Charlotte. Finally got to try all the beautiful dishes I’ve been stalking on their Instagram. We order a little too much but everything was wonderful. We started with Croatian bread, the tuna crudo (omg get this) and the potato octopus salad (the portion was HUGE). For our main dishes we order the octopus with lentils and a pasta dish. All wonderful. We somehow managed dessert - vanilla gelato and the panna cotta w rhubarb granita. The service was solid and the atmosphere was light and simple and shockingly it wasn’t too loud (like most restaurants are these days) even though it was a full house. We will definitely be back!

The food and service were good. My meatloaf was tender and flavorful. My husband enjoyed his salmon. They give very generous portions. I was rather disappointed that a server actually vacuumed the empty dining room side we were bordering and came right up behind our table so that the exhaust from the vacuum blew our way while we were eating.

One of the best BBQ meals I’ve ever had. The Carolina Ribs were so flavorful and moist, couldn’t ask for more! All of the sides were perfection, I had the Mac and cheese and the potato salad. Service was top notch Keith was an amazing server!

Service was friendly and good was really good. Really liked the hushpuppies and biscuits. If I had some honey or jelly that could have been a meal by itself. Got the chopped bbq plate, slaw and baked beans. Delicious. Both sauces were good and plain as they served it. Only drawback to the place is just that interior is very nice and so the atmosphere for me wasn't like a regular bbq joint.

I have to start with the amazing service we received from T! She not only made great recommendations, but treated us like her best friends. The food was amazing, but meeting T is what made the whole visit unforgettable. We shared a combo plate and appetizer sampler since we wanted to try a bit of everything. Nothing disappointed!

I wanted to like this place because the atmosphere was really nice. Staff was kind as well but the food I just felt like it needed a bit more flavor. I had the fried chicken and have had better fried chicken from a fast food place. I expected a little bit more. My Mac and cheese was a bit dry as well. Hush puppies were good and the pulled pork was good as well but the main dish I ordered wasn’t it for me.

Service and atmosphere felt like home and got treated like a regular. I got hush puppies as complimentary. I don’t think anyone got it either nor was it on the menu. I sat at the bar. First meal of the Day at 2pm hungover from the night over. So I needed some drinks in before I could eat. Went to the Billie Eilish concert the day before. Flew from Indiana. I basically tried to order everything. Stew was nice. The staff was nice. Gave me a free drink too. Deviled eggs were as expected. Fried chicken was good, but had better. Coleslaw was delicious, up there as my top 3. Sausage and brisket felt dry, flavor was there but I might had gotten an off batch. Ribs probably one of the best I had at a restaurant. I like to bbq myself at home. Either way, will go back again if I’m ever in town.

Tried the carolina style bbq. Very tangy and vinegary, not quite my palate. The macaroni was pretty good and so was the okra. I tried a local heffeweisen which was really good. The bartender was a nice guy and very kind. He offered me a substitution since i didn't like my bbq. The only frustration i had was that the check came slowly. I'd try this place again if i come back to town.

Very very nice place. The food is amazing and the desserts are to die for. The staff is very friendly and helps you with picking out your food if you’re unsure of what to get. I love this food because it’s filling but not heavy on the stomach and most importantly it’s healthy. I would highly recommend this place for some good Mediterranean food.

Coming here for the first time was a little confusing/overwhelming. There’s loads to try in the menu and when I went to order a few different items to try, the associate asked if I wanted to do a pick three or four. While that seems straightforward, I had to ask for clarification on what items qualified for that and if certain things (like dolamades) were one item or two. Overall, I feel like a little more consideration on explaining how that worked might have led me to having a better experience. The food I got was a little plain and not what I’m used to experiencing at an authentic restaurant. The dolamades were lacking in flavor and the falafel was overcooked on the outside, but okay on the inside, albeit a little bland. However, my husband was happy with his food. It’s an out of the way place, but loads of seating inside and out. Pets are allowed on the patio and it seemed to attract regulars. I just wish my experience had been a little better.

A little crowded but that’s always a good sign in my eyes! It’s off the main road so it has to stick out if it’s hard to get a table! We sat outside. It was a beautiful day! The food was good! I ordered some of the highlighted menu items and the prices were very reasonable! It took me a minute to figure out how to order. It wasn’t the best thing I’ve ever had but it was solid! I’d definitely go back!

Staying at the Fairgrounds for the week, I searched what was nearby. The menu sounded right up my alley so I stopped by to get lunch to go. But the patio atmosphere was so inviting that I decided to stay to eat. You order at the counter, where all the sides and desserts are easy to look over. They give you a number and you then take it to the cashier to pay. My food came out before I even had time to finish paying! I enjoyed the falafel pita platter with 2 sides. My lunch was super fresh and tasty. They even give you a little square of baklava to finish your meal off. But I had to try the Coconut Mousse cake and the Apple Walnut cake. Both were light as a cloud in my mouth. As is typical of food of this region, it was just barely sweet. The Coconut Mousse cake was a 10 of 10 with the bits of pineapple inside. I'll definitely put Neomonde on my list for next year when I come back through! P.S. I had no idea that pomegranates could be grown in this climate, but this tree in their parking lot doesn't lie!

We discovered this restaurant through Google Maps and decided to give it a try for our very first meal in North Carolina—and it turned out to be the perfect choice! From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere felt welcoming and relaxed, setting the tone for a great dining experience. We ordered a build-your-own bowl, the pita pocket platter, baba ghanouj, and sweet tea. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and satisfying, but the standout for us was definitely the pita pocket platter with grilled veggies. The seasoning and smoky flavor made it truly memorable—one of those dishes you instantly want to come back for. The baba ghanouj was smooth and tasty with just the right balance, while the falafel was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside—exactly how falafel should be. Each dish felt thoughtfully prepared, and you can really taste the quality ingredients. Beyond the food, the vibe of the restaurant added to the overall experience. It’s the kind of place where you can enjoy a relaxed meal, whether you’re with friends, family, or just stopping in for a quick bite. We left feeling full, happy, and excited to return on our next trip. If you’re looking for flavorful Mediterranean food with a friendly atmosphere, this spot is absolutely worth visiting. It was a little confusing for me to order, but I guess I should have asked more questions. The food, the portions and the price were very good. Loved the atmosphere and the food was delicious, I loved the cilantro jalapeño hummus.

This was a good middle eastern restaurant, Lebanese and Turkish mostly. Food was very good but service was confusing to be honest. Seems a little disorganized. I recommend trying it out to get the cultural cuisine experience.

This restaurant is absolutely beautiful and perfect for a special night out. The menu offered a refreshing change from my usual go-tos — everything felt new and exciting. We ordered the saffron crepe, pork belly soup, and lettuce wraps, which turned out to be the perfect amount of food for two. Every dish was delicious, but if I had one critique, it would be the pork belly. I’m not sure if it was meant to be served that way or if we just got an off batch, but it came out cold and extremely tough — we honestly thought we might lose a filling trying to bite into it. That said, the soup itself (without the pork belly) was fantastic: flavorful, well-balanced, and not overly rich. Overall, I’ll definitely be back — and the service was exceptional: warm, attentive, and genuinely kind.

First time today and everything was amazing from start to finish. Large portions and very filling. Got the chicken lettuce wraps / anda for entree I got KUA MEE LAO PAD LAO. Overall great experience if you’re in the area stop by and check it out . Reservations recommended. Very popular location. Warm welcoming and lighting. Great for anytime of day .

Wife and I had this on our list to go one night for a date, finally made it and the hostess sat us right away. Gwen waited on us and had a bubbly personality very friendly, recommend several items. We ordered a recommended Lettuce wraps which were crunchy and warm full of flavor. Straight fantastic! I ordered a Thai tea old fashioned, which was made with Thai tea and Henry McKenna Bourbon, this drink was next level good. My wife ordered Spicy tequila cucumber which was very refreshing and a little spicy, also very good and too notch. For the main course we ordered Sea-bass Mok which was cooked in banana leafs so tender, very mild on the fishy taste and cooked to perfection. My wife ordered Pad Lao with pork belly, flavored with pork prefer seasoning, very authentic. This was a tasty dish. For Desert we had a sweet sticky rice with mango and coconut, Carmel topping. This was very good not too sweet. Definitely would return to and have a great time

If you're looking for a fantastic dining experience, Bida Manda is a must-visit! From the moment we walked in, we were promptly seated at the bar and treated to some irresistible rice chips that set the tone for the meal. For starters, we opted for the Lao Beef Jerky paired with charred tomato jeow, and let me tell you—it was a flavor explosion! For my main course, I chose the Basil Stir-fry with Beef Tenderloin, and it did not disappoint. The sauce was truly out of this world, bursting with fresh flavors that brought the dish to life. My friend went with the Saffron Crepe filled with shrimp, which was not only massive but also incredibly delicious. Overall, Bida Manda surpassed my expectations with its vibrant flavors and welcoming atmosphere. Highly recommended for anyone looking to indulge in some amazing Laotian cuisine!

We absolutely loved Bida Manda! Great vibe, friendly service, and delicious food. Started with a Spicy Khiew cocktail. The jalapeño syrup and habañero sauce paired extraordinarily well with the tequila. Very nice spicy drink. Had the crispy rice lettuce wrap appetizer and the flavors were incredible. The sweet chili salmon was so good. I love salmon and this was prepared in a way I’d never tasted. The consistency was superb; light crunch on the outside and creamy texture inside. Not sure if that’s the best description, but it’s what I experienced. Finished with the purple rice desert. OMG, purple sticky rice, fresh mango, coconut custard, and palm sugar tamarind caramel sauce! It was a flavor orgy in my mouth. This was our first time at Bida Manda and it will not be our last. You’ve gotta try it!!

The food was AMAZING so delicious, everything we ordered was great. Im a celiac and they had gluten free options! I loved the way they made my drink with crushed ice with a cool looking machine! If youre looking for a burst if flavor in food I definitely reccomend this fine restaurant. I had "Dad's Simple Fried Rice" and I still dream about it, the chicken broth just gave it such a boost in flavor.

I ate before I came because it didn’t open until later but nonetheless I had to try some food. Got an espresso martini. I liked it. It was creamy how I prefer. Atmosphere was dimly lit and pretty. I sat at the bar. The service was nice. Meet some cool people. I ordered the pork belly noodle soup. Was delicious. Soup is a bit heavy but not overwhelming. Noodles were on point. Pork belly was perfect . It retained it crispness within the soup. Flew from Indiana for the Billie Eilish concert. Would come back here if I was ever in town again.

Excellent but somewhat pricy restaurant in North Hills that has a unique vibe. This place certainly does mix sushi with its hamburgers on the menu along with an extension bar and drink menu. Very colorful and fun decor. Service was outstanding, helpful and efficient. Unfortunately my sister made the “mistake” of mentioning her upcoming birthday so there was a bit of a celebration that was definitely different from other places. Everyone was happy with their burgers and they were cooked perfectly, although they are stacked high so be prepared for it to be messy. The sushi was expensive for what you got and unfortunately was average compared to other places that focus solely on sushi in the area. You will most likely need to park in one of the garages so be attentive because it is somewhat easy to get misdirected if you are not familiar with the area. Definitely worth a visit if you want to try something different. There are many variations of burgers and you can of course build a custom burger. I was able to modify the burger I ordered, no issues whatsoever.

I remember reading an article about a unique restaurant where you could get burgers and sushi. So when I was visiting Raleigh's North Hills for my birthday and saw The Cowfish, I knew I had to visit. Tucked underneath a large financial building and surrounded by shops and retail, The Cowfish really mooves you. As you walk in, to the right, you see ample covered outdoor seating and a lively interior. Past the check-in counter wrap tons of tables and booths and a huge central bar. The service here is amazing whether you are dining in or taking out. The food is what really wows you. My wife and I picked two to-go bento boxes, with sliders, sushi rolls, 🍟 fries, 🫛 edamame, and pickled vegetables. They were both delightful. You can also pick from multiple salads, tons of sushi and rolls, and chicken and beef dishes. This location also had ♿ handicap accessible seating, 🅿️ parking, and 🚻 restrooms.

First time here and first impressions were mixed. We were seated on the tented patio and being a rainy day, thought it might be cold. Not the case as they had overhead heaters in place, making it comfortable. Our server gave a good first impression but that quickly deteriorated once we realized she appeared unable to focus at keeping on top of her tables: she forgot our drinks, took an exceedingly long time to come back to take our orders and talked too fast and too much. She was pleasant enough, but know your audience. We waited about 35-40 minutes too long for our food-which was tasty and our shared dessert was heavenly! Not a bad place overall.

Such a cool little spot! Very unique burgers paired with sushi in bento boxes. We loved that all the burgers, rolls and sides are interchangeable. Best tuna nigiri I’ve had recently! Excited for the next visit already.

Fun concept for a restaurant. The bento box offers a good mix of burger, sushi and side dishes. Love the spicy poke dip! It has a good amount of fish and pairs great with the wonton chips.

A highlight of the evening was the live music, played by a talented musician—it really elevated the mood and added to the overall feel of the place. Service was okay—not particularly attentive, but sufficient. The garlic hummus was excellent—creamy, rich, and full of flavor. The cauliflower duo was decent, though not especially memorable. The biggest disappointment was the fried oyster mushroom dish. It had a burnt taste, and the beans served with it were undercooked, making it completely unappetizing—we couldn’t eat it. Despite the food inconsistencies, the ambiance and live music made the evening pleasant overall.

First timer. Great experience, nice atmosphere, good drinks, and very good meal! Stopped at Irregardless before going to a comedy show. Started off with drinks and crab dip, both of which were really good. The crab dip was so good and filling that it affected my appetite. I went with a cauliflower dish, which I have never done before. When it arrived, I took one look and thought this is going to be awesome and it was. The dish consisted of harissa roasted cauliflower, cauliflower purée, sautéed spinach, garbanzo beans, and preserved lemon. The flavors were incredible! My wife had eggplant Parmesan, and when it arrived, we looked at it and thought what!?! Although it was like no eggplant I had ever seen it was delicious. In fact, she had eggplant. I ate one of her eggplants, and then she shared with a friend the next day. So good! We will definitely be back.

The food is consistently exceptional!! Lee, the owner, is incredibly kind and checked on us several times throughout the evening. Kim was a fantastic server...attentive, and professional. We never visit this area without making a dinner reservation here. The restaurant is truly one of a kind, and the taste stands out from anything else we've tried.

12/10 experience every time! Irregardless Café never disappoints. We walked in without a reservation and snagged two seats at the bar. Such a great atmosphere with live music and the friendliest staff. Our waitress was super accommodating with my tree nut allergy, which I really appreciated. We ordered the chicken & waffles and the classic breakfast plate, both were amazing (and yes, we cleaned our plates!). The food, the energy, the kindness… everything here just feels good. Can’t wait to come back!

This was my first time having brunch at irregardless and I loved it! The places looks very pretty and it perfect for having a family/ friends breakfast & brunch. Selene served us and she was SO attentive and made our stay very comfortable. It can get a bit loud in the room once it’s crowded. Food was 10/10

The server was friendly, I ate here with a dairy and tree nut allergy and the food was delicious. There was live music and the decor was odd in a fun way. Good atmosphere but a bit loud during busy times, maybe sitting outside would be better if you're sensitive to a lot of noise.

This restaurant is just Zen. Ask to sit outside if you like sitting outside on the terrace. Especially for breakfast. The early morning sun and air, the trees, the greenery. I am jealous. I would want a terrace like this at home. The service could be improved, we were seated promptly but it took a while for someone to take our order. We were dying for a cup of coffee. Once we got the attention the service was great. Breakfast was huge, the toast was some display. I was expecting just a piece of toast with toppings. It was a surprise. I am looking forward to visit again, stay at the Umstead and have dinner at Herons.

Took my family for dinner. Getting reservations was not bad. We were seated as soon as we arrived. We ordered bunch of stuff and every plate was piece of art. Ingredients were fresh and I could taste distinct flavors of each ingredient. Service was amazing. Staff explained us every dish we ordered. How it’s made and where the ingredients came from. Our son loved nigiri the most. Hamachi was good too. I loved halibut too. Very rich flavors. Wife loved tuna and scallops. Lobster was really good too. I had heard a lot about shrimp and grits but it felt underwhelming to me. Chicken was okay. Our son made a comment that the food had very complex flavors for his age to appreciate. I guess he is not coming back here. Overall great evening. Very lovely and courteous staff.

My husband and I went to Herons to celebrate our elopement, and it was the most incredible food experience that we’ve ever had. We did the chef’s tasting menu, so each of the courses was a complete surprise. I don’t eat seafood, but the chef was able to modify my courses to be seafood-free. Everything was fresh and very delicious. Highly recommend!

The Crab Benedict was delicious. The hollandaise sauce really enhanced and married all of the different flavors in this dish together. The crunchy softness of the tomato was also something I’ve never experienced before. We tried out some of the desserts from the brunch menu. My favorite had to be the layered cake. It reminded me of the essence of birthday cake without the over sweetness from the frosting. A delectable bite that had me reaching for more. The staff provided outstanding service from the moment we walked in, with warm greetings and attentive care throughout the meal. Every detail, from timely refills to thoughtful menu recommendations, made the brunch experience truly memorable. I am already excited to try out their lunch and dinner menus.

The seating, artwork, and lighting created an intimate cozy ambience that brought a nature theme to the meal. Even the utensils with the wood on the handles created that feel. The servers were friendly and knowledgable about each dish. I even had some fun conversations about with two other servers with the same name that I have, which is rare. The plating and presentation was beautiful and creative for the tasting menu. There was a fresh summer theme interwove throughout the meal with the brightness of the colors and the refreshing feeling of each dish. The flavors were balanced nicely and created depths of flavor. We've been to Michelin one star restaurants and this restaurant's food and presentation fits right in with the rest of them. I would be surprised if this restaurant doesn't get a Michelin star later this year as it surely deserves it. Highly recommend this restaurant and it definitely is one of the, if not, the best restaurant in the Carolinas!

What an amazing place to have dinner. The food was top notch and the service was even better. The chef is top notch, and the serves were amazing to talk to. Will defiantly be coming back again.

Great classic southern food. Have only had breakfast here and it is one of the best southern breakfasts you can get. The biscuits are perfectly cooked and buttered and fluffy- and you get a free basket of them with your meal! The biscuits sandwiches come absolutely loaded. The bacon egg and cheese has to have a pound of bacon that comes on it. Cute decor inside, friendly staff.

The atmosphere was beautiful. Our server was very nice and attentive. They were very busy. The food was good and in big quantities. The prices were normal and affordable. There is parking available. The markets are just a walk away. We definitely enjoyed it and had a good time.

Great prices. Lovely atmosphere. Lots of choices. The Jim Graham biscuit could be improved by chopping the streak o lean. Place two or 3 full pieces on top for looks. Over all a great meal. Stellar service.

Starting with the phone call with the young lady, to being greeted upon entering the front doors, the lady hostess (Tina I believe) took over pushing the wheelchair for me and got us settled on the patio. The young waiter (Andrew) was very attentive and polite. Even the gentleman cleaning the tables (can't forget him) was so patient and polite. Then when we were leaving another young lady (my apologies I can't recall her name) very polite wheeled my friend out while I took care of the tab. She even took him all the way to my truck in the parking lot. She offered to help get him in the truck as well. Thank you so much for making it a pleasurable experience. The whole overall experience was wonderful.

huge and traditional farmers market, what more needs to be said? thankfully it is open much later than most farmers markets, which is a great bonus. The surrounding environment is amazing and there's tons of little knick-knacks you can buy from nearby storefronts. as others have said, the prices are insane, making it rather prohibitive for the average person to buy anything from here ($4/lb tomatoes..) however if you are lucky you can find things in season that are priced reasonably. at least in October apples are $2 a pound and sweet potatoes are $1 a pound!

Our first time trying this restaurant and we have absolutely no complaints at all. The food was really good. Started with biscuits and hush puppies which were both delicious. Then we both ordered a plate from the daily specials menu and everything was seasoned perfectly and very tasteful. In addition to the great food our waiter was superb.

Such a fun atmosphere! We had lunch and the food was pretty good. I had a BLT that was nice. To be honest, the real reason I went there was to take home a couple of pieces of cake. Just took a couple of bites so I could let you know... They are phenomenal. I got the seasonal patty (which was a berry layer cake) and the chocolate raspberry. I gotta go now so I can finish off those cakes Lol!

Hands down absolutely our favorite restaurant of all time! We lived in Raleigh from 2000 to 2010 and we tried a lot of restaurants. This 1940’s throwback dinner quickly became our go to date spot. Classic American dishes that are done to perfection and outstanding dessert options you cannot pass up. We recently had the opportunity to visit Raleigh after 15 years of being gone and to our greatest delight Hayes Barton was still open and just the same as it was when we first went there. This is a hidden gem that will take you back in time with comfort food and a cozy atmosphere. Don’t miss out! Be sure to make reservations (parties of 4 or more).

We were a little late but they were still accommodating in letting us keep our table for 6 people. Visiting from NJ, so my family is accustomed to having different cuisines that are cooked just right. We started off with crab dip, it was delicious. Unfortunately, we weren’t able to take a picture because it didn’t last long at our table, but the pieces of crab meat were huge. The portions for all of our meals were huge, so the price is worth it. Everything was seasoned well and all of our meat was cooked throughly without being dried out. Our server was very kind and patient with us, as we had some picky eaters(children). He made sure we were content with our meals, and continued to check on us throughout our dinner there.

The cakes are incredible! They have the best lemon cake in Raleigh in my opinion (their lemon blueberry cake). You can walk in and order cake slices to go from the cake display counter. You can also order full cakes in advance but they are huge, so you'll need several friends to help you finish it! The food was good as well - highlights that we tried were the meatloaf and the crab dip. We plan to go back to try more of their food menu (and more cake). Back to the cakes - lemon blueberry is my top choice and the chocolate peanut butter mouse pie is a close second!

DELICIOUS. nothing else to say. make a reservation in advance! at least a week before, I called 2 just to make sure. set menu with additional rotating options. and set aside your cake slice right when you get there too, they will sell out!

This is historic Raleigh! They have the best cake around. The hardest part is choosing which cake to have during your visit. I would go with the staff's recommendation. The staff was super friendly and helpful.

As a table of five with varies ages and dietary needs we were all very pleased with the food and amazing service from Mary. The food came out at a good pace and the dishes are well presented with great portion sizes. We were all stuffed but bathed our way through as much dessert as we could. A phenomenal array of exquisite cakes, pies and puddings. We did not win the battle but the remaining delights were boxed up all labelled and brought back for to continue the culinary treat at home.

Such a gem. You’ll wait to be seated but the hosts help get people seated quick so no worries. The juice and the coffee and sandwich were made quickly and so delicious! 😋 If you’re coming here for a virtual meeting, think again! It’s a LIVELY coffee shop and there are not a lot of outlets. Added to my favorite spot list! So much yum. I wish more coffee spots also provided fantastic food! I arrived at peak lunch time and the line was literally out the door. That said, I only had to wait about 5 minutes.. how?! That’s amazing, especially considering how good the food is. The staff was friendly, helpful, and EFFICIENT. The interior was clean and modern with a cool vide- great place to sit for a bit with friends and/or a laptop getting work done. Parking is a breeze given the shopping center surroundings. Food and coffee were mid. I got the: Chai Tea Breakfast Bowl The Chai was very watery. They either added too much water or their chai concentrate isn’t very concentrated. Oregon Chai Extra Spicy Super Concentrate - this concentrate does the trick. I found no milk flavor and I asked for whole. I was surprised that the entire breakfast bowl minus the sausage was stark cold. It just wasn’t my fave. The atmosphere and customer service are great and speedy. I also love that they don’t allow seat saving. For a busy cafe, that’s a must!

Absolutely a gem - had lunch iho Cinco de Mayo. The tacos were so delicious especially the Del Sur..muy bueno! Also it was a cool and rainy day so I tried the chicken and rice soup - SOOO GOOD! Made from scratch. Check ‘em out.

We LOVED our lunch! I would recommend the torta to anyone; it was just delicious! The bread was soft, the steak tender - I couldn't have asked for more. The soup is also delicious. I would also recommend the shrimp tacos. We also especially appreciated the great service. We'll be back!

The food here is always fantastic! You can’t go wrong with any of their tacos. Most days they have lunch specials which are also always worth trying. The space is uniquely decorated and has a very eclectic vibe. Table sizes are somewhat limited so if you come with a large party will be difficult to get everyone seated. My latest visit we had six people and we simply sat at the bar which worked out fine. Definitely a local favorite and I’m always excited to visit again.

Graycen was an outstanding waitress who truly elevated our dining experience with her exceptional service and attention to detail. She was attentive, friendly, and ensured every need was met promptly, making us feel valued and well-cared for throughout the meal. Her professionalism and warm demeanor were highlights of the visit. While the service was top-notch, the food itself was somewhat disappointing. The dishes lacked proper seasoning, which impacted the overall flavor, though the presentation and quality were otherwise acceptable. Despite the food being just okay, Graycen’s excellent service made the experience enjoyable overall. We’d return in hopes of improved flavors, confident that Graycen’s care would make it worthwhile.

If you’re looking for a spot that perfectly blends vibrant Mediterranean flavors with a unique, eclectic atmosphere, Vidrio is a must-visit! We recently had a fantastic dining experience here and were blown away by both the food and the service. We started with a couple of small plates—the Fig and Bleu Cheese Flatbread, which had a perfect balance of sweet and savory, and the Moroccan Beef Skewers, which were flavorful and beautifully spiced. For our large plates, the Seared Ōra King Salmon was cooked to perfection—tender and buttery with a crisp sear—and the Grilled Lamb Loin was incredibly juicy and well-seasoned. What really elevated our night was our server, Lawrence, who also happened to be a sommelier. He was knowledgeable, attentive, and friendly—offering excellent recommendations for both food and wine pairings that really enhanced the meal. The decor is just as memorable as the menu—an eclectic and artistic space that makes the whole evening feel special. Whether you’re out on a date night or catching up with friends, Vidrio has the right vibe. Highly recommend—can’t wait to come back!

Attended a birthday 🎂 event at Vidrio and had the 🙌🏾 best time ever. The staff was friendly , the food was flavorful and delicious. The DJ S&S had us on our feet dancing 💃 and sweating all evening. The venue is nicely decorated as well. I’d definitely return. Unika B. & Co.

Very limited options for a pollo-tarian — barely anything worth trying. The zucchini chips were burnt, and the artichoke was just okay. The roasted chicken from the live cooking station was a complete letdown — bland, undercooked, and barely salted. When we asked for it to be properly roasted, the host gave us looks instead of fixing it. The ambience was nice, but let’s be real — this isn’t Mediterranean cuisine. It’s just overpriced American food dressed up with a fancy label.

Had high expectations about this place but the food was sadly a let down. We tried the Hummus plate, Moroccan Beef skewers and the Cheese Croquettes. All of them need some kick/sauce to it. We asked for some hot sauce but we were given something that was again bland. We also tried the Nutella cheesecake for dessert and it was decent. We asked the server if the chef had changed recently, since according to my friend, the food was great last time. And not surprisingly it had. So overall, it was a disappointment in terms of food, but the ambience and the service is great though.

Really wanted to like this place but ultimately i ended up agreeing with the other negative reviews. It was Meh. The atmosphere and service is fantastic but the food left so much to be desired. If the chef doesn’t want to over indulge in salt or pepper please put them out for your customers. The sauces were often times the best parts of the dishes and that says a lot. The chocolate cake was spongy and needed something; raspberry sauce, chocolate shavings for texture, maybe mint for color. The mango mocktail lacked sugar, the carbonara needed salt, the octopus and lima beans were forgettable and the grilled shrimp could have been from anywhere.

Have been a couple of times to the bar and for restaurant week decided to make a table reservation. My friend and I tried almost everything on the restaurant week menu. The seasonings were delicious on the steak and the desserts were also delicious and well thought out. The interior dining area is beautiful.

One of my all time favorite places for coffee and a snack. But I can hardly call this a snack because the biscuits are so filling and delicious. I'm not usually a biscuit person but these are top notch. The latte options are great and smooth. It's what a coffee shop should be, controlled chaos, so if you have an issue with noise then bring some headphones or the outside seating is a good option as well. There's not usually a long wait, but even if it were, it would be worth the wait.

Stopped by for a pick me up. I think it was the salt caramel (I really don’t remember). It was crowded on a mid afternoon but the barista is very patient. Awesome coffee!!! It tasted acid free which is good for my stomach. I will definitely be back when I’m this city again

My daughter and I decided to check this place out while we were waiting for one of our cars to be worked on. The atmosphere is nice, but really loud. That's probably a catch 22 since it means they're popular, but it was just too busy for us to enjoy the atmosphere inside. They do have some tables outside in the front and the back though, so that was helpful. They had a decent selection of coffee and tea drinks. My daughter got the Mocha Latte iced and I decided to try the Almond Latte with Almond milk. They were both very good, just a bit too sweet for my liking. So next time I'll have to ask for them to make it less sweet. My daughter wanted to try their Bacon, Egg and Cheese biscuit to see how it compared to others she's tried. She said the flavor was pretty good, but the biscuit was weird. She said it was akin to the texture of a Bojangles biscuit but sweet like a scone. So it would've been better with something like peanut butter or jam.

I got the seasonal spring latte to go. It was floral and refreshing on a hot day. The layout was cool and would be a great catch-up spot with friends. Service was friendly and quick

Great coffee with experienced baristas. Some of the best biscuits I've ever had too! Good place to work from home, catch up with a friend, or get a quick cup of Joe to go. Usually pretty busy, but I can always find a seat and a parking space. They do to-go orders and online orders! Clean bathrooms with changing table for the babies!

Jubala Coffee at Lafayette Village is amazing! The coffee is always top-notch, and the biscuits and blueberry waffles are incredible. The vibe is cozy and perfect for relaxing or getting work done. The staff is super friendly, and the outdoor seating adds a nice touch. Definitely one of my favorite coffee spots!

It was a windy Friday afternoon. We were in the mood for some coffee and a pastry. So we decided to check out the yellow dog bread company on person street. Upon entry we noticed several spots to sit outside. They had a good small selection of coffee and non coffee beverages(teas and such), they sell beans and have a great selection of pastries. We got one with chocolate in it and it was super delicious. A great spot overall, would definitely go back.

I drive past here on my way to work every day and I’ve been meaning to stop. This morning I decided it didn’t look too crowded so I’d give it a shot. A large coffee only has two espresso shots, I wasn’t asked to specify hot or iced so when it was given to me steaming hot on an already 80° morning, I just took it. Cinnamon roll totally disappointing, possibly stale?? The way they have their breads displayed in open air, wonder what they do when they get flies in there. They just let flies on all the fresh bread? Gross, will not return.

Cute little bakery with lots of outdoor seating. Nice place to grab a little snack and meet with a friend. The croissant was flaky and buttery. The cinnamon roll however was lacking a little bit. It was very nice and fluffy, but needed more filling. Was more of a sweet bread with icing then a cinnamon roll. Nothing too special about the coffee or chia tea latte. Just your average run of the mill type of drinks. However, I would like to go back and try their other breads. They had baguettes on the wall that looked delicious.

I love this bakery! They have great food items of all kinds and great coffee (my favorite being the slingshot cold brew)! I especially like their focaccia bread with veggies, pecan rolls, cinnamon rolls, seasonal pop tarts and jalapeno cheddar bread. Their apple turnover warmed up is amazing!

Tasty vegetarian and vegan focaccia bread , loved mexican spice mocha . Parking is tight since it’s Saturday but we managed to find one spot. Overall We had a nice Saturday afternoon at yellow dog bread company.

first time coming in and the restaurant is beautiful. an upscale casual dining experience. the host was super friendly and led us to our table quickly. we did have a reservation too. we had a party of four and ordered a lot of food. first were the wings. they were glazed in a fish sauce based sauce. i’m vietnamese so i LOVE fish sauce and unfortunately, it didn’t have a strong flavor of fish sauce. i understand it is a very powerful ingredient. but the wings were so crispy and juicy and the cilantro sauce on the side was great too. the pork and chive dumplings were pretty standard. nothing special. delicious nonetheless. mussels were great as well. the broth was a tom yum soup based. the fried chicken bucket was the same batter as the wings but came with breast meat too. it unfortunately wasn’t anything that special. it was good and it said it was brined but i didn’t taste any brine flavor in the meat. the side pickles were okay and the rice was cooked perfectly. also the bao buns that came with it were the perfect vehicle for the crispy chicken. overall, it was a good meal. it wasn’t amazing but i still enjoyed my meal. the staff were friendly and helpful. i would come again in the future to try other items on their menu.

💯 The Kimchi tots and Collards were sooooo good 👍 The Dumplings (while few) were filling. ⭐️ We also ordered the Lamb shank, which was perfectly done. 👎 The Lao Khao Soi was very mid, would not recommend.

I’ve been here twice and the first time all the food was fantastic but the second time we went, we ordered the vegan bowl (originally the pork belly bowl but we asked for tofu instead of pork, and no egg), and it came with rice, corn, pickled onions and carrots, and fried tofu..but it had no sauce?! It was so dry and flavorless, I’m still confused about this dish. The Chinese Cauliflower is delicious, as is the Vegan Lao Khao Soi, so if you eat here be sure to order those but skip the bowl!

I loved everything about this place. The food was fresh, cooked to perfection and was decently priced. I'm STILL thinking about the books and white pepper chicken!

The bulgogi dumplings are 10/10. The wings and kimchi tots were very good as well. My wife loved the kimchi. The fried dough desert was delicious, it tasted like a fancy toaster strudel in a good way.

Pan Asian tells it all!! not really authentic Chinese or Thai food. I ordered the shrimp and grits and it is poured with soybean sauce and a bit vinegar in the middle, salty and watery. Good interior environment for small group gatherings next to the busiest streets in downtown Raleigh. A bit Noisy.

If you order one thing, you need to get the Brussels sprouts!! Honestly, I wanted one of everything on their small/shareables menu. Wings were perfectly crispy and the gochujang buffalo with green goddess dip pairing was excellent.
