Big Ed's City Market Restaurant is a charming spot in Raleigh that has been serving up Southern-style home cooking since the 1950s. The laid-back cafe is adorned with quirky antiques hanging from the ceiling, adding to its old-school charm. Customers flock here for their cooked-to-order breakfast dishes like hot cakes, ham with red eye gravy, fried catfish, and even eggs scrambled with pork brains.
Great experience. I was served at Big Ed’s by Patrick who kept my coffee cup full and made sure I had anything else I needed. I went with a single hotcake with sausage and added a scrabbled egg. The hotcake was fantastic and done well. I’m always nervous about “Big Food” since normally you lose out on flavor in favor of the size. This hotcake hit on both though! The sausage and egg were also great. I got there rather early on a week day, but I’ve seen this place quite busy on weekends in the past. Overall very much worth a visit, and if you like mugs, they sell theirs in house.

I'm visiting North Carolina and my boyfriend suggested Big Ed's for the country style breakfast. He easily found street parking nearby. It is first come first serve, but the line went very quickly. We maybe waited five minutes for a table. The service here is 10/10. Our waitress was the sweetest, but honestly everyone was nice. Southern hospitality at its finest! I also loved the decor. It definitely falls in line with a good ole country southern restaurant. The food was pretty good. I enjoyed the spicy sausage on my breakfast biscuit. The biscuit itself was a bit dense, but still buttery. The eggs were cooked to perfection. I had a few bites of my cheese grits and they were cooked well. I like my grits thicker, but that's a personal preference and I had to add a good amount of salt. Overall, I enjoyed my time here and i definitely would return!

This is a great place to get a filling and delicious meal. The service was excellent. Big Ed’s has a cool local vibe, full of quirky and charming decorations and signs. The portions are generous and the prices are great. I was just visiting Raleigh but if I lived anywhere nearby I would definitely gain weight! And I wouldn’t regret it! The menu is extensive and I had a hard time making a choice, but I had the fried catfish with eggs, grits and a biscuit. It was a little too much but I ate it all and felt great afterwards. Next time I’m in Raleigh, Big Ed’s will be one of my first stops.

If you are a local or traveling to Raleigh do yourself a favor and stop in! The food was so good that the plate was cleared completely off!! The catfish was cooked to perfection and left a lasting taste and memory all day unto the night. Our waitress Kathy was the best hands down when we go again we would request her by name. She made us feel right at home and it was not an act she genuinely loves the customers she treated every table like they were family. Please tell me you’re still reading this review because you’re on your way to the restaurant! The surrounding downtown area is suited perfectly for all people! There is a place for your dog, your kids, or jump on a scooter! You won’t regret coming to Big Ed’s! If I could rate higher than 5 stars it would be 10/10
Vinetta K — Google review
Got the food everything was what we ordered, but the grits were cold and the food was also it was like they waited till all the food got prepared then brought it out as a cook. You don’t do that whatever you have ready first go ahead and take it out so people can start eating. Don’t wait till you get everything prepared then bring it, Lord even the grits were cold. They Didn’t have no smoke on them. You got to turn the fire up. Make everything hot coming to the table. pancake was bigger than the plate. Four people could eat off that come on Big Ed’s Got to do better if you want some business.

Visited Raleigh for a day and had the pleasure of stumbling upon this place. There was a line but I waited for, at most, ten minutes. The staff were all extremely friendly and embodied that southern hospitality. I ordered coffee and the western omelette with home fries and a biscuit. The coffee was strong and rich in flavor while the omelette was fresh and full of veggies and meat. The biscuit stole the show as it was fluffy, fresh, and delicious. Home-fries were basic, but when you have a great omelette, it doesn’t take away from the meal. Above all, my total was $13.50!! I was pleasantly surprised because in VA the same meal would cost me $20 and not be nearly as fresh. 5 stars! I cant wait to visit again.

First of all our server was very nice and cordial. So I’ve been here many times. But today was a disappointing lunch. I had the Blue plate special with cornbread and meatloaf and mac & cheese, and snap beans. And the blueberry cobbler for dessert. The meatloaf was salty and dry, the mac & cheese was dry, tasted out of a box and the cornbread was like Jiffy cornbread. The cobbler was okay but sort of dry too Have they changed their food supply service or the chefs? The cornbread used to be warm and like out of a skillet and today it was a very thin piece like out of a box. Just wanted to know what happened? They also charge you for using your debit card. I do hope that they can try and improve this. And I wasn’t the only one at our table of 3 that noticed it. I was so looking forward to a home-cooked comfort food that was fresh. Today it was not. I’m hoping that it was just an odd happening. And maybe it depends on the day of the week you go.
Brenda C — Google review
I got EXACTLY what I was craving. Sausage gravy and biscuits (which I’m pretty sure were homemade)and the sweet tea was absolutely perfect. I also got the catfish even though the breading completely fell off of it , it was still pretty freaking good

The Flying Biscuit Cafe is a laid-back chain that has been serving up Southern food and all-day breakfast selections since 1993. With locations in Raleigh, Cary, and Brier Creek, it has become a popular spot for locals. The cafe is known for its fresh, fluffy biscuits and offers new menu items like stuffed French toast with raspberry sauce and vegan eggs benedict.
It's been awhile but I am so glad I came back. The food was excellent. Did not have to wait to sit. Indoor or outdoor seating. Service is as good as I remember. I got the pancake tacos and I made two meals out of them. The pancakes were fluffy on the inside, yet firm enough to hold the filling. The chicken sausage was tasty. I got the creamy dreamy grits and it tastes just like it sounds. My friend got a burger that was cooked perfectly to order medium well but not dry. He got the home fries well seasoned. Quaint atmosphere. Local gem.

I was alone, so I decided to sort at the bar.. To start the biscuits are literally the best I’ve ever had and made with love. The service was amazing!! Teamwork is a real thing and they all seemed to really enjoy what they do and working as a family!! This was awesome and heartwarming to witness! Devante was great and attentive, as were the girls, but I didn’t get there names.. the energy there was very inviting and bright! This will be my new go to to lift my spirits. The biscuits, grits, bacon and coffee were all yummy! Ty 🌻☮️❤️🥓🍳☕️

This is such a great local breakfast spot! The atmosphere is warm and inviting, and their biscuits are wonderful, definitely live up to the name. Everything we ordered was good, nothing over-the-top magical, but consistently delicious and reliable for an easy breakfast or brunch. Big shoutout to our waitress Kathleen, who was so kind and knowledgeable. She knew the menu inside and out and helped us figure out exactly how much food to order for two people sharing dishes which was super helpful! All around, a solid go-to for a laid-back breakfast with great service.

The Flying Biscuit is an awesome spot for breakfast! The decor has a fun, groovy vibe that instantly sets the tone. The service was outstanding, and the portions were generous—definitely worth every penny. Dining here is a full sensory experience, from the atmosphere to the delicious food. Plus, there’s the option to enjoy your meal outside, which is a great bonus. Highly recommend!

I went late afternoon and the terrace was a great place to sit. The biscuits came out quickly. They were warm with a nice crunchy crust and moist crumb inside. The apple butter was a great add on but the biscuits are so good they can stand on their own.

Shannon is the best. From helping us navigate the menu to great suggestions she made our first trip incredible. She knows the menu. She watches her times between drinks, biscuits and entree delivery. perfect timing on checking to make sure everything was excellent and even knew when my daughter needed more syrup! Thanks, Shannon!
Blarney B — Google review
Stopped here while passing through Raleigh for business. The service was top tier. My waiter was the bar tender and buddy was very attentive while helping with suggestions. Didnt take long to be seated either and the place was rather busy. They give you a complimentary biscuit with jam which was soft and pillowy. I had a cold brew to go with my entree which was the biscuit eggs and gravy. The food wasnt bad. Feel like for the the dish needed more gravy as it felt unbalanced. Thick biscuit and fluffy eggs with minimal chicken gravy. Wasnt very pricey. Would give another shot

We were vacationing in North Carolina when we discovered The Flying Biscuit—and what a fantastic find! The atmosphere was warm and inviting, and it was incredibly pet-friendly, which made it even better for us. The food was delicious, but the standout was definitely the freshly made biscuits with their homemade applesauce—absolutely out of this world! We’ll definitely be returning the next time we’re in the area.

Lunch restaurant
The State Farmers Market Restaurant in Raleigh offers a bright and inviting space for enjoying Southern country breakfasts and lunches, with both indoor and outdoor seating available. The restaurant has a rich history dating back to the original farmers' market location in downtown Raleigh in 1955. It is known for serving farm-fresh Southern staples and has become one of the city's most beloved breakfast and lunch spots over the years.
It's been a while since I've been here, but it's just as good as I remember it. We came Sunday morning before the rush. Brian took amazing care of us. He even went above and beyond, making my daughter smile with a smiley face when asked if she could have whipped cream for her waffle. We were seated almost immediately. The food came out quickly, and was absolutely delicious. The portion sizes are great, and we all ended up with leftovers. I highly recommend the Market Omelette (I can't remember the name, but it has everything in it. I usually go for one of the omelettes whenever I eat here, and they never disappoint. Can't wait to come back for breakfast!
Marissa W — Google review
Great classic southern food. Have only had breakfast here and it is one of the best southern breakfasts you can get. The biscuits are perfectly cooked and buttered and fluffy- and you get a free basket of them with your meal! The biscuits sandwiches come absolutely loaded. The bacon egg and cheese has to have a pound of bacon that comes on it. Cute decor inside, friendly staff.
Katie O — Google review
The atmosphere was beautiful. Our server was very nice and attentive. They were very busy. The food was good and in big quantities. The prices were normal and affordable. There is parking available. The markets are just a walk away. We definitely enjoyed it and had a good time.

If you're looking for the perfect spot to impress out-of-town guests (yes, even the most discerning NYC foodies), The State Farmer’s Market Restaurant is the place to go. Nestled beside the rustic yet vibrant Farmer’s Market, this spot perfectly captures the charm, warmth, and flavor that make the RTP area such a special place to call home. The experience begins before you even sit down. While one person holds your spot in line, the rest of the group can explore the covered outdoor market. With large overhead fans and shelter from the elements, it’s an enjoyable outing rain or shine. Once inside, prepare to be treated to genuinely made-from-scratch Southern cooking that tastes as good as it looks. We tried the fried chicken, chicken salad, and French toast, and every bite was fresh, flavorful, and clearly prepared with care. The sides are where this place really shines; hush puppies and fried green tomatoes that completely changed my mind about both. And the biscuits? Perfectly seasoned, warm, and made even better with a little jam and butter. The service was just as thoughtful as the food. As first-time guests, we were guided through the menu by a kind and helpful waitress who shared her personal favorites and made us feel right at home. To end the meal, the banana bread pudding was an absolute highlight. Rich, indulgent, and the perfect sweet note to finish on. We left full, happy, and already planning our next visit. This is comfort food done right, at a price that makes it feel like a true bang for your buck. Rustic, fresh, and full of Southern soul, the State Farmer’s Market Restaurant is a can’t-miss experience for locals and visitors alike

Great prices. Lovely atmosphere. Lots of choices. The Jim Graham biscuit could be improved by chopping the streak o lean. Place two or 3 full pieces on top for looks. Over all a great meal. Stellar service.
Rebecca B — Google review
Starting with the phone call with the young lady, to being greeted upon entering the front doors, the lady hostess (Tina I believe) took over pushing the wheelchair for me and got us settled on the patio. The young waiter (Andrew) was very attentive and polite. Even the gentleman cleaning the tables (can't forget him) was so patient and polite. Then when we were leaving another young lady (my apologies I can't recall her name) very polite wheeled my friend out while I took care of the tab. She even took him all the way to my truck in the parking lot. She offered to help get him in the truck as well. Thank you so much for making it a pleasurable experience. The whole overall experience was wonderful.
Vicki B — Google review
huge and traditional farmers market, what more needs to be said? thankfully it is open much later than most farmers markets, which is a great bonus. The surrounding environment is amazing and there's tons of little knick-knacks you can buy from nearby storefronts. as others have said, the prices are insane, making it rather prohibitive for the average person to buy anything from here ($4/lb tomatoes..) however if you are lucky you can find things in season that are priced reasonably. at least in October apples are $2 a pound and sweet potatoes are $1 a pound!
Brett K — Google review
Our first time trying this restaurant and we have absolutely no complaints at all. The food was really good. Started with biscuits and hush puppies which were both delicious. Then we both ordered a plate from the daily specials menu and everything was seasoned perfectly and very tasteful. In addition to the great food our waiter was superb.

Mecca Restaurant is a long-standing family-owned establishment in downtown Raleigh, serving up Southern comfort food and drinks since the 1930s. Founded by Greek immigrant Nick Dombalis, this classic eatery has been a favorite among locals, including lawyers, legislators, and judges. Over the years, it has expanded its menu to include new entrees like San Francisco chicken and lasagna specials while also offering breakfast, lunch, dinner, and late-night options.
The food was phenomenal! I enjoyed some grits, country ham, bacon, a biscuit and eggs over hard. My husband had a breakfast burger. The food was out pretty quick and there was no wait at all to be seated which was great. Our waitress was friendly and refilled drinks before we ever had to ask.

We ate at the Mecca on a rainy Sunday morning and had the most delicious, warm, comforting breakfast. We started with bloody Mary’s that were loaded with goodies, then corned-beef hash and country ham, and finally our waitress surprised us with complementary shrimp and grits. It was hands-down the best shrimp and grits I’ve ever had. Flavorful and hearty, plus the cheese pull was out of this world. The atmosphere was so cozy and classic; picture perfect for a rainy day. We can’t wait to come back next time we’re in Raleigh!

Disappointed in this place. Had high hopes for this place. Had a few people tell me this was the place to go. We ordered onion rings, took good 30 minutes before came to us, I get it. They were short handed and the guy was doing everything but never check on us or told us how much longer our food will be. Our food came out about 10 to 15 minutes later. Her breaded fish was cold and creep her out that there was skin still on the fish. Her rice was cold and was barely any cole sław. There was more batter then fish. The Hawaiian chicken: took them about 15 to 20 minutes to tell me that they had no pinneapple. They seem to have ran out of a lot of stuff. We came little before noon. Pecan pie was warm, wasn't expecting that. Was almost melted well trying to eat it. I did love the feel of the restaurant. Seeing all the different knick knack on the walls, beautiful lights.

The last time we were in Raleigh we had lunch at The Mecca. Our server was Molly and she made us feel right at home. She was very efficient and friendly. We had their Monday lunch special which was meatloaf. It was very good and seasoned just right. The vegetables And potatoes were really good. I had the squash casserole and it tasted like it was made with fresh yellow squash. Next time we are in Raleigh we will definitely go back to Mecca !

Went there for brunch and it was very good. Cozy place with very traditional menu. Service was great, and food came out quick. Portions were good and price was great too. I would go there again. We tried omelet, French toast and their hot plates. Coffee wasn't the best though, hopefully they change their blend.

What an amazing find. This is a must visit restaurant if you’re ever in the Raleigh downtown area. The food, the service, the hospitality, the history, the people, the list goes on and on. This is what you refer to as a gem. I had the eggs with sausage, hash browns and a biscuit with a hot cup of coffee and that hit the spot perfectly, but I saw an order of pumpkin pancakes go by and it looked so yummy that I had to try them, so I ordered them and they were delicious. Definitely coming back for more

This breakfast spot is well-known for its giant pancakes and hearty all-day breakfasts. The menu includes sandwiches, salads, burgers, and hearty sides, as well as freshly brewed coffee and tea.
This is an old Raleigh staple that I have been to multiple times over the years, and I can’t recommend it enough! The atmosphere is always warm and inviting, making it the perfect spot to relax and enjoy a meal. The service was outstanding—attentive, friendly, and quick, without feeling rushed. I ordered the Ultimate Omelet, and it was delicious! It was packed with fresh ingredients, cooked perfectly, and bursting with flavor. The portion size was generous, and every bite was satisfying. Whether you’re looking for a hearty breakfast or a casual place to catch up with friends, this place is a must-visit. I'll definitely be returning soon!

We were celebrating my birthday this morning… it’s tomorrow, and we met here. Sammie was our waitress and she did an awesome job of being our waitress. Very kind and patient. She was very attentive to us and had such a great personality. The food was amazing. Try the hot chocolate and garden omelette. Yummy. People were very friendly and the atmosphere was awesome. Thank you Sammie for this great experience on this morning

For me, this restaurant is not as good as it used to be. As someone who does not live locally, maybe it’s been my luck that I was not wowed with the food as I was originally. This has been my experience on the last 2 visits. I must say after being in VB 2 weeks before coming to NC and eating amazing crab cakes, the crab cake at Briggs was decent and better than expected. Overall not a bad meal now, just not as I remember.
Joannah J — Google review
I've been going to Brigs for years. Their pancakes are huge and such a good deal for the 2 pancake combo. I love that they change up the flavors every month to give you a reason to come back and try something new or to get the thing you loved when it returns! Like for October and November with the pumpkin pancakes! I got the 2 pancake combo this morning with homefries and scrambled eggs. Pancakes were fluffy and moist, they didn't need syrup at all and were perfect as always. The homefries were a little overcooked, but still seasoned well and the eggs were well... Eggs. I also got he Mac and cheese to try and that was a hell of a lot better than I expected. SUPER cheesy and plenty of bacon bits on the top. I loved these. Coffee was delicious! Brigs is probably my favorite brunch place for the affordability, flavor and amount of food for your $. Pumpkin pancakes - 9/10 Home fries - 6.8/10 (on a normal day they are usually 8.5/10l Mac & cheese - 9/10 Eggs - They're scrambled eggs/10 (It's pretty difficult to mess up scrambled eggs 🤣)

Definitely make a reservation beforehand when it comes to the weekends. Eggs were made just right. The chicken to the chicken and waffles meal are simple chicken tenders as can be seen in my photo. Chicken tenders have a lot of breading and more on the dry side. Waffle is pretty good and the blueberry has a good tart to sweet ratio to it. Service was great; our waitress was attentive and very sweet.
Cari — Google review
I tried Brigs today for the first time with a hankering for breakfast food. We had about a thirty minute wait on a Sunday for two people. I had a griddle combo with chocolate chip pancakes, scrambled eggs and bacon. My partner had the works omlette with French toast. Our food came out within 10 minutes and was hot and flavorful. Our server was quick, knowledgeable and friendly. I would definitely be back to try their other selections.

A Place at the Table is a unique cafe located near Nash Square in Downtown Raleigh, offering a casual dining experience with a menu featuring sandwiches, soups, and salads. What sets this place apart is its pay-what-you-can model, allowing patrons to enjoy a meal regardless of their financial means. In addition to serving delectable food like the Turkey Bacon Avocado Club and Hummus Pesto sandwich, the cafe also provides volunteer opportunities for those who want to contribute in exchange for their meal.
If you're looking for a brunch spot that serves up more than just great food, **A Place At The Table** in Raleigh is the one! 🍽️✨ The dishes? Fresh, flavorful, and downright delicious—like a warm hug in meal form. The vibe? Vibrant, welcoming, and filled with good energy. The service? Fast, efficient, and oh-so-friendly. But the real MVP of my visit? 🏆Toya🏆. From singing at the register to cracking jokes, she made me feel like family the moment I walked in. 🫶🏾💛 Toya set the bar for what true hospitality is all about—connecting, laughing, and making everyone feel right at home. If you haven't been yet, do yourself a favor and go. You just might walk out with a full belly and a new cousin! 😆🔥🤙🏾

Love their concept. When I went they had a pay what you can, pay full price, or work for meal options available. We just went with the full price since prices were fair. I had the waffle with eggs and bacon. Food came out quick and was good. Everyone working there seemed to be working together to make sure everyone felt a part of the place. I did wish I had gotten a bigger portion but overall it was a nice experience.

We all enjoyed eating here. It’s a little different, but in a good way. The food was excellent and I enjoyed seeing a place that approaches eating out in a new way. I hope to see more restaurants like this in the future. The sweet potatoes tots were delicious!

A wonderful concept! I was visiting Raleigh for a weekend with some friends and we chose this spot for on of our breakfasts. We absolutely loved the concept of pay what you can or volunteer for a meal. You can see how everyone comes together to help one another out. We each ordered something different (chicken and waffles, avocado toast, BLT w/ tomato soup, and breakfast burrito) along with 4 different types of coffees and it did not disappoint! We also shared one of their dulce de leche brownie cheesecake slices and OMG IT WAS INCREDIBLE. Each of us enjoyed our dishes and the chill ambiance. Please show your support to this beautiful place by visiting the location or making an online donation. Thank you to the owners and staff for giving back to the community and serving everyone delicious food!

Food was great! Eggs were top notch, but beyond that the entire ethos of a place like this is just incredible. We need these across the country

I stumbled upon this place searching for breakfast near me. What a remarkable place! There is a host inside the door to let you know how things work. You can opt to pay what you can, pay full, or gift meal cards to others if you have the means. The volunteers were friendly and welcoming and can earn their meals. There must have been 15 volunteers on hand that busy morning. Delicious food and an incredible way to support a community! Loving place and people ❤️

Relish Craft Kitchen & Bourbon Bar is a popular spot in North Raleigh, offering a modern twist on Southern comfort food and an extensive selection of bourbons and whiskeys. The menu features crowd-pleasing dishes like boiled peanut hummus, pimento cheese fritters, macaroni and cheese skillets, shrimp and grits, fried chicken with gravy on an English muffin, tater tot beef nachos with fried green tomatoes, and breakfast doughnut holes.
Relish is such a great spot for brunch! The atmosphere is welcoming, with a fun Southern vibe that feels both modern and homey. I love their option of indoor and outdoor seating, while providing options to set at the bar as well. The staff is always friendly and attentive—they make you feel like a regular, even on your first visit. The food is absolutely amazing. Their Biscuit and Gravy is always a great choice, as well as their Tater tots. The tots are always cooked to perfection with a great crunch. I also got the Chipotle BLT wrap, and that was a hit as well. You can really tell they care about quality and creativity in their dishes. They also have a great selection of bourbon and craft cocktails, which pairs perfectly with the comfort food. (A spicy Bloody Mary is a great addition to your brunch for anyone who enjoys them.) Whether you're going for brunch, lunch, or dinner, Relish delivers every time.

At first, I was a little underwhelmed by both the service & the time it took for food to come out however, the 25 minutes waiting was worth it. By far one of the best Buffalo Chx wraps I’ve had in the triangle, and the amount of fries provided were nearly double most of the restaurants will give you. The steak fries are handcrafted, fried well, and the homemade ranch was great. I absolutely would come back here to eat. The buffalo wrap being $18 was worth the price! I brought a 10 month old infant, and nobody in the restaurant was bothered given the moderate noise.
Conner B — Google review
The restaurant floor and booth seats need updating but the decor is cute. The waitstaff was really slow and there was hardly anyone else there as it was between 4-5. We noticed several waitstaff just hanging out. The fried pimento cheese was good. The country fried steak was just okay. My friend said the bbq was good but not amazing. I feel like with a little effort this could be much better and looks like it has been in the past.
Heather M — Google review
The friend green tomatoes were my favorite! They were sliced perfectly and seasoned to perfection. I ordered the Tuscan Mac and Cheese and it definitely hit the spot. My friend ordered shrimp and grits and they screamed bacon. Very tasty!

In looking at another location, the name Relish caught my eye. I got on the waiting list just in case. When we got there outside seating was available so we were seated fairly quick on a Friday night. The ambiance is dark and bourbon bar like with bar seating, a dining area with tables and booths and outside tables. There is a section inside which sells sauces, candles, jewelry, etc. The menu is fairly extensive with many options. The Bourbon list was even more extensive. The staff were friendly and service very good. I got the Popper sandwich, which was like a jalenpeno popper on sour dough. Not quite as cheesy as I thought, I'm a cheese nut, but was delicious!. I loved rhe side of creamy cheese grits as my side. Hubs got a side salad, which was quite large, and the bacon jam burger. The bacon jam was the best I've had thus far. Great burger. I highly recommend upgrading your fries to these fries with bacon. It was the best spend of $1.50. They had bottle of wine specials. With every red purchase, the winery donates to help keep the ocean clean. It is a little pricey, but I feel worth the money. We will be back to take another family member for the Bourbon.

We came for an early lunch and sat outside. Great seats on their patio. Placed an app order and their server came out after waiting awhile and said the appetizer would be right out. We never saw it. We put our order in the next time he came to the table and waited and waited and waited and waited. He apologized and forgot to put our order in but promised it would be “rushed”. He must have also forgot our appetizer order too because we never got that either. Food was good but just an overall disappointing first experience.

First impression was incredible! Huge Old Fashioned fan so this place truly was exciting. The Browned butter Old fashioned was incredible but cannot forget the French Toast Pudding! Highly recommend checking this place out, if able.

Great drinks and food in a casual atmosphere. The menu is elevated gastro pub but the cocktail list and bourbon are top notch. Portions were large and quality of ingredients was good. Service was friendly and helpful and prices are reasonable given the portions . A great place for dinner and drinks with friends.

Morning Times is a bi-level coffeehouse located in downtown Raleigh, offering a cozy and laid-back atmosphere. The space features an upstairs gallery where patrons can enjoy locally-roasted coffee, house-made bagels, and a selection of light fare. It's a popular spot for locals to grab a coffee and pastry while catching up with friends or getting work done. The cafe also serves breakfast items such as biscuits, sandwiches, and global fare until 3:00 pm.
We came and here and the were very accommodating. We ordered a parfait for our baby and he’s under one so we asked them not to add the honey. The biscuit and omelet were fantastic and much larger than expected. The coffee and hot chocolate was the perfect temperature. I love that they steamed the milk for the hot chocolate and it wasn’t a powder mix with hot water. We can’t wait to visit again.
Lauren A — Google review
So this place has a cool aesthetic and a low key type of vibe. The food and coffee aren’t really the best. It’s decent enough that you won’t leave hungry but nothing to say “wow that was good”. The food comes out visually appealing but my meal and wife’s burrito just fell flat on actual flavor.
Ridin’ O — Google review
Good place for breakfast, coffee, and lunch. The space in front of the register can be a little tight when busy but the lines moves pretty quickly. Order your food at the register. If you're eating in, they give you a table marker with an Uno Card for a server to bring you your food. We a ordered the Ruben sandwich, chips, corn beef and hash. The food was pretty good. The honey sriacha sauce that comes with the cornbeef and hash was delicious. There was plenty of seating upstairs and outside. We will return.

It was an unplanned visit this morning. But I was pleasantly impressed with the place. When I see a coffee shop have lines out the door it makes me happy (when I m not in a rush of course) - showing it’s a good place for coffee!! And it most definitely didn’t disappoint. I went upstairs, opened my laptop and ordered my food online - just to skip the crazy lines. Picked it up a few minutes later and enjoyed the chicken biscuit with a warm cup of coffee!! No fancy plates for me but that did no difference to the taste! Will definitely go again.

Morning Times in downtown Raleigh is a truly unique spot with a cool coffee shop vibe that stands out in the city. The coffee here is super flavorful, rich, and expertly brewed. Their food menu is just as impressive, with each dish crafted to perfection. I especially recommend trying their biscuits. If you’re in Raleigh and looking for a memorable coffee and bite, Morning Times is a must-visit.

I hate leaving a bad review, and it takes a lot for me to leave a review in the first place. If I could give zero stars for service I would. The staff were rude, condescending, and clearly stressed. For a Saturday morning, I think more than 3 employees working in the front (when the line is all the way out the door and) would help a lot. I ordered eggs with cheddar cheese. The eggs were burnt and didnt have the cheddar i ordered, when I took it back downstairs the guy at the register gas-lit me and said "maybe there was some miscommunication, but ill fix it anyways". Okay, maybe YOU misunderstood but either way, why are being weird and aggressive? Then the Barista says to my friend whose eggs were CRUSTY burnt, that, "those aren't burnt!" I have attached a picture, you all decide for yourselves. But either way, why are all the staff members being so passive aggressive and rude. I always speak to service workers kindly, I try to be understanding, never yell, I try very hard to not be on the "Karen-energy", so when the staff are still being unnecessarily rude, its very frustrating. We will never come back and it sucks because we genuinely WANTED a good experience. 0/10.

Stopped here this morning on our way out of Raleigh and it was a great start to our morning! Got the Chai latte and tuna melt and they were fabulous. I get nervous about ordering Chais at smaller coffee shops because they differ in taste so much but they nailed it here. The tuna melt was perfect and the tots were crispy on the outside and soft in the middle. The service was fast and there was a clear sense of community at the establishment. Would definitely come back again.

Rise Village District is home to Rise Biscuits Donuts, a renowned chain offering a variety of sweet and savory breakfast and lunch options. The family-friendly restaurant is famous for its delicious biscuit sandwiches filled with buttermilk-brined fried chicken, salt-cured ham, crispy bacon, country sausage, eggs, cheeses, and spreads.
Solid place for a good biscuit that’s not fast food. Rise catered for our work and it was great. Everyone was happy and the food was fresh. I ordered a number of things to try as I had never been here before. I got the loaded protein box with tots plus a couple chicken tenders, the hot honey butter chicken on a cheddar biscuit, and a maple bacon donut The protein and tots box was excellent. The eggs were perfectly scrambled and the chicken was tender, juicy, and flavorful. The hot honey chicken biscuit was my favorite. The chicken had the sweet and spicy aspect, and on a cheddar biscuit, it’s going to be hard to beat. Top 5 biscuits I’ve ever had. The maple bacon donut was pretty good. Not the best donut I’ve ever had but the amount of bacon on top made up for it. A solid go to spot from now on and with locations all across Raleigh, this place is hard to beat. Give it a shot if you haven’t already.

Love that there are several new biscuits options! The righteous chicken box with grits....sooo good! My husband loves the biscuits and gravy box with added egg and bacon 🥓 😋 yummy! The pickup inside system is unique and easy with each order having it's own box and can only be opened with correct name. RISE is easily in our top 2 places when we want quality breakfast takeout!
Kesia W — Google review
Ordered Rise today through Door Dash. The power went out briefly in the store so there were issues. Things happen, no big deal. Apparently they didn’t receive the order from DoorDash according to our delivery driver. Trying to clear up how to proceed though was an issue. No one would answer the phone. Again, not the end of the world. When the food arrived though, not only was the order wrong (they didn’t have biscuits or gravy) but the tater tots were so salty they were completely inedible. Spent $40 on a meal for me and my girlfriend that didn’t meet any of our standards. Poor customer service, communication, order accuracy AND food quality. I’m a regular here, but I will be finding another place to get breakfast with my girlfriend moving forward.
Alexander P — Google review
The best, worst biscuit I've ever had lol. Biscuit itself is amazing, but the chicken and eggs are average. Nothing had any flavor, but it looked GREAT. On the plus side they also have donuts and they look good. Maybe I’ll try those next time, but I’ll pass on the biscuits from now on.
James J — Google review
I’m fairly new to NC and I heard that the food at Rise was good. First time walking into this establishment and no other customers were in there so I stood there waiting for a “Good Morning…how can I help you? Nope nothing until moments later I believe the manager/Supervisor came to me and said you have to order from the kiosk I said I’m sorry this is my first time here he pointed to the wall at the menu then proceeded to a young lady employee stating we don’t have time to talk to customers. And I thought to myself I’m the only customer here. So zero stars for customer service. And 1 star for the food. Also reading people reviews about the customer service from management and that particular establishment needs to be rectified immediately!! I must say I will try another location and if that fails I will be spending my money elsewhere.
Jeniffer J — Google review
I was underwhelmed. I ordered the honey hot butter biscuit. The butter was frozen and in 2 chunks. It was unsettling to bite into. The cheese was tore up into pieces like maybe they were trying to get it from a frozen block too. I was disappointed but my husband loved his food. Maybe if the items can be defrosted before serving that would drastically improve the experience.
Carmen T — Google review
I absolutely hate biscuits but this place is game changer. They hands down are the best breakfast spot around and would recommend everybody to try this place. I never do these reviews but this place deserves all the recognition they can get i try to go at least 3 times a week

I discovered this place on Google, drawn in by hundreds of positive reviews and enticing pictures. I went there and tried various dishes from the menu, and I just loved it. The Eggs Benedict were fantastic, and the shrimp and grits were phenomenal. I also appreciated the healthy juice options. Unfortunately, this restaurant isn't available in Ohio. However, if I return to North Carolina, I'll definitely visit again, likely more than once!

It was loud and tables were too close together. Being handicapped it was not a nice experience trying to get up and bang into the customer behind me. Eggs were delicious but way over priced. Won't come back.

Our server was fantastic, but our food was less than desirable. My husband ordered his potatoes extra crispy, and instead they came out undercooked and not even edible. The onions in his chorizo omelette were also borderline raw. And unfortunately my food was overly greasy and inedible. Definitely not the best first watch experience.

Madre is a new Mediterranean small-plates restaurant located in Raleigh's vibrant Smoky Holly district. The restaurant, which celebrates motherly hospitality, offers an elevated Southern brunch menu featuring favorites like hot honey chicken and donut. The atmosphere at Madre is described as metropolitan chic with inclusive music playing throughout the restaurant and a live Jazz band on the patio. Visitors have praised the friendly and knowledgeable service as well as the comfortable ambiance that allows for conversation.
This place was amazing!!! My husband was a little weary when we arrived and realized they were serving brunch. Boy was he proven wrong when the food came! 10/10 recommend the chicken and donut’s. Every single thing we got was great and the service was impeccable. I’m so glad that I got to choose the restaurant to celebrate my birthday. This is going to be a new favorite for us.

Service:
The service was exceptional! Our server was incredibly attentive throughout the meal. A special shoutout to the hostess—my friend accidentally left her debit card on the table, and the hostess went above and beyond by walking across the street to return it to us at their other lounge area. We were truly grateful for her kindness and effort! Food:
I’d rate the food an 8.5 out of 10. The Calabrian chicken was absolutely phenomenal—I literally woke up the next morning still thinking about it! The calamari had a bit too much lemon for my personal taste, but it was still enjoyable. Ambiance:
The restaurant was beautifully designed and visually appealing. The restrooms were also clean and well maintained, which added to the overall positive experience.

The service was fantastic. I joked with my husband that anytime I took a sip of water it was refilled within a minute. The shrimp tapas was delicious, the croquetas were good, I would've liked a bit more cod fish in it though and the cauliflower was good. We went to celebrate my birthday and they had a card waiting for me and y hey took a Polaroid Pic of us. We will go back again

I enjoyed Madre. The service was impeccable. I enjoyed all of the food. My favs were the pork belly, Croquetas and the stuffed peppers. These items were perfected and I appreciated how delicious these were. My waitress was Bri and she was a great server. My only recommendation here is better cutting knives for the bread. I caught myself having to tear the bread apart with my hands, not especially the cutest look. The butter knives weren't the best for cutting the bread. Besides this, I enjoyed a positive experience. Madre just might be my new favorite place I look forward to returning to someday soon.
Fal E — Google review
Madre captivated me with their chic, romantic, and enchanting restaurant design by Costello and I just knew this was where I wanted to gather for a delicious 40th birthday dinner. I find Madre ideal for a chic Girl Dinner or a memorable date night. The Mediterranean and Latin inspired Tapas menu offers a variety of options. My friend and I decided on the Albondigas (lamb meatballs), PIQUILLO PEPPERS, Pork Belly, and CROQUETAS. We also had the la farm bakery loaf of bread with tapenade butter. Everything paired well together. I'm proud of my friend and I with our collaboration. The la farm bread was so soft, warm and delicious with the tapenade butter ! I just wished they promised an appropriate bread knife. We were sharing this loaf and we had to really tear into the pre sliced bread. The Albondigas were dry. I would pass on that for tapas. The highlights for me, are the La farm bakery bread and tapenade, the croquetas and pork belly. Delicious. I'm still dreaming about the croquetas. The warm codfish, crispy breadcrumbs and oozy cheddar filling was orgasmic. I paired my meal with a glass of Tempranillo, Rioja Alta. Real smooth. Complimented my meal well. Great recommendation from our waitress Bri. Dessert was disappointing. I made the mistake of ordering the fudge. Not very tasty. The staff was very welcoming and engaging. This restaurant is classy. They gave me a birthday card and a young lady with a Polaroid camera took our photo and printed the photo to attach to my card as a keepsake gift. Classy and memorable. I enjoyed the beautiful artwork in the restaurant and my favorite being the focal point of the room, the overflowing candles with melted wax dripping and poured onto the floor. So creatively genius! The bathrooms were sick ! The doors appear see through and once you enter and lock the door, the glass fogs the door for privacy. I can't say I enjoyed the unisex aspect. For this reason the bathrooms could have been cleaner. I adored Madre and appreciated my friend for celebrating me with dinner. I plan to return for brunch and cocktails.
Mariss — Google review
The food can be summed up as either too salty, too sour, or too dry. We had chicken, meatballs, Serrano ham, cauliflower, shihsito pepper, potatoes, octopus, and pork belly. Octopus was the only decent dish. I don't understand how this restaurant have high rating and have food this bad. On positive note, the service was excellent and the restaurant is very sleek/modern.
Danh P — Google review
Had a great weekend dinner here with friends! The restaurant is very clean and stylish, it has a great vibe to it. We had good service. The tapas were very delicious, our favorite being the chicken. 10/10 would eat here again!

I wholeheartedly recommend this place to anyone seeking a satisfying and high-quality dining experience. See photos. Also, Sola remains FIVE STAR STATUS... See photos of my favorite early meal (Breakfast Bowl and cappuccino). Update (1): Wonderful breakfast bowl and cappuccino this morning (see photo) --- Sola Coffee Cafe is a FIVE STAR breakfast and lunch stop we visit frequently. The menu is varied; our favorites include the breakfast bowls; baked goods; cappuccino; chicken salad and avocado; summer tomato sandwiches; desserts; and more. Inside/outside dining; solo, doubles, groups, and child-friendly (pets, too). Location: Free standing building at Greystone Shopping Center in North Raleigh. See you there! PS – Yes, it is irritating if you bring your computer and block up a table during breakfast and lunch hours. Mama should've taught you better... Sola is not an office.

Food and coffee were mid. I got the: Chai Tea Breakfast Bowl The Chai was very watery. They either added too much water or their chai concentrate isn’t very concentrated. Oregon Chai Extra Spicy Super Concentrate - this concentrate does the trick. I found no milk flavor and I asked for whole. I was surprised that the entire breakfast bowl minus the sausage was stark cold. It just wasn’t my fave. The atmosphere and customer service are great and speedy. I also love that they don’t allow seat saving. For a busy cafe, that’s a must!

Metro diner is a great place to eat, with delicious food and great customer service. It's a popular spot for breakfast, lunch and dinner, and is definitely worth a visit if you're in the area.
We had a nice Sunday brunch at this Raleigh staple. The service was quick and efficient and my order of The Bissell Breakfast was still delicious. I got a biscuit with a side of gravy as My "bread" side and it was really good. My one regret is that I didn't get the chicken & waffles. After seeing a nearby table order them, they looked fantastic.

We love coming here to eat! There’s always plenty of fun and new (temporary) options to try, and the regular menu is full of variety — everything we’ve tried has been absolutely delicious. You really can’t go wrong! If breakfast isn’t your thing, they offer so much more beyond that. Definitely worth checking out, just keep in mind it can get pretty busy!

Since moving to Raleigh, we have been looking for a quick, easy, end of the work week place for great homemade food and relaxed atmosphere. We lucked out and found Metro Diner. The service is fast. The food is great. Metro Diner is perfect so much so it is now on the rotation. 👍👍

I took my team here for breakfast before a work event because I had to share the fantastic Chicken & Waffles experience here! They are amazing! It's half a chicken, fried to perfection with crispy skin and delicious meat, served with a waffle baked perfectly and strawberry butter (with actual strawberry pieces in the butter!). On the side is their signature hot maple syrup, which pairs perfectly with the strawberry butter waffle and crispy chicken. All complimented by fast, friendky service. We were in and out in 30 mins. HIGHLY recommend!!!!

First time trying this diner, and I will definitely be back. Breakfast is my favorite meal, and this restaurant truly delivered an enjoyable experience for my friends and I. No reservations and the wait was about 30 minutes on the weekend, but it was worth every second of waiting. I had the cinnamon roll Belgium waffle with a side of eggs and couldn't get enough. The waffle was so sweet and delicious that I didn't have to add syrup. Our server Tara K. was amazing and attentive. I can't wait to go back.

The food was tasty! Good price. Great price Great portions. The server was respectful and attentive. My only complaint is the restaurant is a little crowded, the inside and the outside.

Genuinely unimpressed. Today was the first time I tried Metro. I dined in & first starting off the guy seating tables had a rude demeanor as I was sat. Ok cool no issue. My waiter was a real cool guy, attentive, filled my coffee cup, kept checking up. My food on the other hand, I ordered a steak and scramble bowl & a pumpkin waffle. The waffle was great! One of the best I’ve had I might say; but my scramble bowl on the other hand was terrible. I was served raw meat even when the waiter asked if medium was ok. I brought it up to the waiters attention quietly & he took care of the issue quickly. I was served a new plate (I hope) and this time the meat was real tough like chewing on leather. I did come across a piece of meat that was soft to touch, upon tearing it open, boom more raw meat. At this point I was disappointed & disgusted to where I pushed the plate to the side and finished my waffle. I didn’t bring it up to the waiters attention again and just didn’t eat it. Waiter asked me if I wanted a to go box & I simply responded with no. Apologized about the issue & I assured him it was not his fault. Left the waiter a 5 dollar tip for his time but the food was just terrible. First time eating here and last. Hopefully my stomach is not messed up by the steak bits I ate. To get served raw meat 2 times in a row there is some issues that need to be resolved. I don’t care for a refund , I don’t care about free food or anything, just better attentiveness from the cooks.

Took my Florida friend there before she headed back home on Sunday morning! Courtney was our waitress and she was amazing! Great customer service and she was very personable and all with a smile! We loved talking to her about all of her tattoos and the reasons behind them. All on her birthday! Below is the most delicious cinnamon roll pancakes!! OMG SO GOOD! I could only eat 1/2!!

Breakfast restaurant
The Shiny Diner is a classic American diner with a retro atmosphere located in Raleigh. It offers all-day breakfast and traditional American dishes, using locally sourced ingredients for quality and sustainability. The owners, Michelle and James Park, have a successful track record in the restaurant industry and are known for their other establishment, Peak City Diner. The diner has been serving comfort food for nearly thirty years, attracting mostly regular customers with its extensive menu and fast service.
Amazing service and food!! Jasmine was our server but the whole staff was welcoming and polite. We ordered the chicken and waffles with a Belgian waffle, the 2 biscuits and sausage gravy with a vanilla shake. We were pleased with all of it but the biscuits and gravy was the show stopper for sure. The sausage to gravy ratio was *perfect* and the biscuits were a fantastic texture. With the chicken and waffles, I was expecting more out of the tenders but everything still tasted great. The milkshake was delicious as well, the amount you get makes it really worth it. The entire atmosphere of the diner is great, the coziness is a great aspect. The individual music players are super cute, don’t function 😂 which is to be expected, however my husband and I still tried to put a quarter anywhere we could. The price wasn’t bad at all, especially for two of us at a sit down place. Can’t wait to come back!

Amazingly detailed and decorated. One side of the diner has tables that accommodate reservations, which tend to have more space if you're looking to bring family. I love the option to choose onion rings over regular French fries, and the shakes are the best part so far. It's so huge that the waitress brings it in two cups!

Shiny Diner is a beautiful, classic-style diner with a large menu and plenty of options to choose from. The atmosphere is fun and nostalgic, and the staff is very nice and friendly. The food took a bit of time to arrive, but the burgers were tasty and the fries were great. The quesadillas, however, were a bit disappointing. Overall, a good spot for classic diner food

I visited The Shiny Diner for the first time this past weekend with my friend Lydia. It is such a cute restaurant with helpful staff and delicious food! I got a Belgium Waffle, two scrambled eggs, and two sides of crispy bacon. The Belgium Waffle was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. It was delicious! Lydia got two pancakes, a side of grits, a side of bacon, and an orange juice. We had a wonderful experience here and we did not have to wait long for our food despite the restaurant being full. Our server was Spirit! She was so kind and helpful, especially when explaining the menu to us. She remembered to check on us regularly. Lydia and I both have diagnosed stomach issues and were worried that the food might be greasy. It was not and neither of our stomachs were upset after. We both throughly enjoyed our visit to The Shiny Diner and will definitely be visiting this restaurant again!

Enjoyed our dinner so much this evening. The service, in particular, was outstanding. Krystal made us feel at home and kept the coffee cup full. It was clear from observing her interactions with other patrons that she truly enjoys her work and the customers love her. It was easy to tell that customers frequent the diner specifically because she makes them feel truly comfortable and appreciated. She does so with wit and good humor as well as efficiency. The diner is so lucky to have her!

Walking into the Shiny Diner feels like stepping into a time machine! The retro charm hits you right away, with classic jukeboxes playing, cozy vintage bar stools, and booths inviting you to sit and relax. The centerpiece of the room is a massive cake display, while a milkshake machine hums in the background, adding to the nostalgia. The menu is extensive, though vegetarians might find limited options—so keep that in mind! We went with the veggie omelettes—one served with an English muffin and the other with white toast. Both came with the crispiest hash browns, perfectly golden brown and delicious. Pairing the meal with hot, fresh coffee and a strawberry milkshake to share made the whole experience even sweeter. The portions were generous, and the food was fantastic, full of flavor and warmth. Service was impressively quick and efficient, making the meal even more enjoyable. We’ll definitely be back, and next time, we’re bringing friends & family!!

Coffee shop
Jubala Coffee is a trendy and vibrant café that's popular for its espresso drinks, breakfast options, and sandwiches. The atmosphere is described as airy and cosmopolitan, with great outdoor seating. Customers rave about the superb coffee served in actual mugs with saucers. The scratch-made biscuits are highly recommended, especially the ham and cheddar biscuit which can be requested even though it's not on the menu.
Jubala Coffee in Lafayette village knows what they are doing when it comes to espresso drinks. Didn’t try any of the food options today but they have plenty to choose from. Service was great, friendly. It was pretty busy at 10am on a Sunday (to be expected) but got the drinks quickly. On a warmer day, there are plenty of tables out back too. Will be back!

One of my all time favorite places for coffee and a snack. But I can hardly call this a snack because the biscuits are so filling and delicious. I'm not usually a biscuit person but these are top notch. The latte options are great and smooth. It's what a coffee shop should be, controlled chaos, so if you have an issue with noise then bring some headphones or the outside seating is a good option as well. There's not usually a long wait, but even if it were, it would be worth the wait.

Stopped by for a pick me up. I think it was the salt caramel (I really don’t remember). It was crowded on a mid afternoon but the barista is very patient. Awesome coffee!!! It tasted acid free which is good for my stomach. I will definitely be back when I’m this city again

While visiting Raleigh I luckily stumbled upon Jubala. Friendly and welcoming staff, the best pumpkin spice latte and a biscuit with raspberry jam. I had to go back the next day to get it again!!

My daughter and I decided to check this place out while we were waiting for one of our cars to be worked on. The atmosphere is nice, but really loud. That's probably a catch 22 since it means they're popular, but it was just too busy for us to enjoy the atmosphere inside. They do have some tables outside in the front and the back though, so that was helpful. They had a decent selection of coffee and tea drinks. My daughter got the Mocha Latte iced and I decided to try the Almond Latte with Almond milk. They were both very good, just a bit too sweet for my liking. So next time I'll have to ask for them to make it less sweet. My daughter wanted to try their Bacon, Egg and Cheese biscuit to see how it compared to others she's tried. She said the flavor was pretty good, but the biscuit was weird. She said it was akin to the texture of a Bojangles biscuit but sweet like a scone. So it would've been better with something like peanut butter or jam.

Great coffee with experienced baristas. Some of the best biscuits I've ever had too! Good place to work from home, catch up with a friend, or get a quick cup of Joe to go. Usually pretty busy, but I can always find a seat and a parking space. They do to-go orders and online orders! Clean bathrooms with changing table for the babies!

Nestled in the Warehouse District, Barcelona Wine Bar is a charming tapas bar located inside The Dillon. Its interior design combines old-world charm with modern flair, and its outdoor patio is adorned with lush greenery. This establishment offers an extensive selection of wines from Spain and South America, boasting one of the largest Spanish wine programs in the U.S.
We had such an amazing evening at Barcelona Wine Bar in Raleigh! The atmosphere was warm, inviting, and perfect for a night out. The service was absolutely top-notch. Zachary (the manager) was attentive and on point, while Kaylee was super friendly and made us feel right at home. Their hospitality truly set the tone for the evening. The food was nothing short of excellent. The prawns were scrumptious, the swordfish was perfectly prepared, and then came the grand finale… that chocolate cake with ice cream. Delectable is an understatement! It was the sweetest ending to an already wonderful meal. We left feeling so impressed and excited that we’ve found a new favorite spot to frequent. If you’re looking for great food, a welcoming vibe, and outstanding service, Barcelona wine bar is the place to be!

I’ve been there twice so far (photos are from both times). Their food is always good, drinks are 🥰😋, only reason I put one star off was the serving times were quite slow (good that we ordered paella ahead of time though!) First time I was there, there were not many people since they just opened around 4pm, but still it was quite slow. Second time, my friends and I were waiting for a long time for our dessert. The staffs are always very nice, so don’t get me wrong! They apologized for slow service- Love the place, and their staff members! definitely going back:)

Great Spanish-style restaurant in the heart of Raleigh. Service was excellent and the food was delicious. We ordered several tapas, a bottle of wine, and two paellas, everything was on point. Dishes came out on time, presentation was great, and the atmosphere matched the experience. I’ll definitely be back.

Nice wine bar and tapas restaurant in downtown Raleigh. Grabbed a seat at the bar and had such excellent service. The bartender was excellent. We ordered a nice Vinho, Verde wine and a few small plates. The food was excellent. One dish was better than the other. I can highly recommend the meatballs. One of the few places open past 10. Super chill vibe nice surroundings, located in the Dillon Hotel. Highly recommend.

Modern atmosphere with Spanish tapas and food but service could use a bit of work. Our group came here for a Sunday brunch for a table of 8 and overall the food was good but the service was infrequent and when the food came it started out slow and then everything all at once so pacing could be improved. I ordered a wine flight and some friends got cocktails that came but mine didn’t arrive until the end of the meal. For a group our size, we requested some serving utensils but they didn’t come. Other than the service hiccups, they had some good food dishes that I enjoyed including the Peach Montadito and Gambas and Grits. We also ordered the Paella Mariscos and the Paella Salvaje. They were good but missing the crisp rice on the bottom. Overall, not a bad place but decent food and improvements with service would make it much more enjoyable.

Bakery
Breakfast restaurant
Cafe
La Farm Bakery is a modern-day boulangerie located in downtown Cary, offering a variety of breads, pastries, croissants, cookies, tarts and cakes. The bakery is known for producing 15 different styles of bread using a European-style hearth oven. Founded by master baker Lionel Vatinet and Miss Vatinet in 1999, the bakery aims to honor centuries-old baking traditions without the use of preservatives or artificial ingredients.
In this pastry shop/bakery I want to try everything. The bread looks great, challahs, croissants, cookies, cakes! On a sunday morning there were a little too many people here, but that's understandable. However it did not feel overwhelming - you could find free tables to sit both inside and outside the cafe. We tried the mango cake - very tender and tasty. The cappuccino was wonderful and the morning sandwich was delicious. I will definitely come back to try the croissants and the chocolate pudding cake.
Natalya M — Google review
From Le Farm to Panera Bread... While going through an interview for a job at Le Farm as a teenager I was asked by the owner back then if I knew what it meant to be "Dynamic". I didn't which made sense as I was 16 and far from what the owner was looking for. The place was booming and the owner certainly knew what he was doing - that and quality was a really high priority... 22 years later I returned to the same location excited to see the changes had occurred over the years. I went with my parents and we ordered an Apple Almond tart, a "brownie", cheesecake, two lattes and a cappuccino. The place did not age well. The apple tart was once frozen and dethawed, with the cake portion being a mash of fat and sugar. No fluffiness, no fresh apples, or light crust. The brownie was essentially a frosting - likely also frozen oder left refrigerated cold. The cheesecake was a bit more redeemable, though basically a lot of sugar. Then there was the coffee. This was probably the most ridiculous coffee experience Ive ever had in my life. After looking at my "cappuccino", I saw it was simply coffee with milk. So I went to the barista and said there must have been a mistake. She said "Oh I made a cortado" 😂 (please Google a Cortado if you're unfamiliar) Then I went back to my table and saw my parents staring at their "lattes" which too were coffee and milk. So I went to the barista and said "I think there was a mistake here too, we ordered two lattes." Her response "Those are lattes." I replied "This is coffee with milk." Then came the best part. She said again "Those are lattes" and the kicker, "If I did them again you will get the same thing". Puzzled and a little entertained I took the "lattes" back. Then after a moment I got my fixed "cappuccino", which was half an inch of super heated, over-frothed milk. I tried it , took some more nibbles of my dethawed Apple Tart and threw both in the trash where it belonged. I can't speak for everything in Le Farm and quality of all its products, but "Jack of all trades and master of none" seems the most fitting here - except the bread! Gotta pay respect where it is due but if you visit the location, stick to the bread - (maybe) sandwiches? - and spare yourself the disappointment of thinking the pastries are authentic or good... Alternatively, every time you have the urge to go there put the money in a jar, save a few years, and fly to France to have a frame of reference to how horrendous the pastries in Le Farm are.
Alexander L — Google review
The staff is very polite and sweet. The food is delicious. I did wait a long time for my cappuccino which I would have liked to enjoy with my breakfast sandwich but I had to go in and check on the status of it because it took so long. Overall good experience.
Christa L — Google review
This is one of our family’s favorite spots for all things bread and breakfast. We always make a stop here whenever we’re in the area. In the morning, there are usually plenty of tables available, so we’ve never had to wait for a seat. The food always comes out fresh, hot and delicious, with plenty of sweets and savory items to satisfy every craving. We especially loved our breakfast and chocolate eclair, though we did find the coffee eclair a bit disappointing. It dry and tasted like it was not fresh.
Dee D — Google review
I came here as an all-day breakfast lover and really enjoyed the watermelon cucumber mint drink—super refreshing! The cheddar melt on sourdough was lovely, though it could have used a bit more seasoning. The side salad with house dressing was also tasty. I was disappointed not to be able to try the quiche, since the staff couldn’t confirm what type of flour it’s made with but did mention it’s locally sourced. I’m gluten intolerant but can usually have sourdough or certain organic/imported flours, and more clarity would really help those of us with dietary restrictions. I did grab the chocolate almond French tea cakes to try at home so I can monitor any reaction, but it would have been nice to enjoy more options while dining in. The herb spread for the sourdough is only available as a $9.99 full container and not as a side option with a meal—I would have loved to add it to my bread (even as an up charge) without having to purchase the whole thing as I have a two hour ride home. Still, overall I enjoyed the experience and would definitely return.

By far, the highest quality brunch, lunch bakery in NC. Everything, is elevated, nothing is as simple as you may envision because you can take the caliber and care in every dish. It is honestly a treat, it's not just a stop. The prices can seem high on your first visit, but once any of their products touch your tongue you will instantly understand that it's a bargain and worth so so much more.

The almond croissants I ordered recently did not seem fresh and tasted like they were made with something other than butter. The croissants were so curved, they were round and dry. The chocolate chip cookies tasted bland and overly sweet and were missing a more complex buttery chocolatey taste. I think La Farm is using cheaper ingredients than in the past. The sourdough bread continues to be amazing.

Nestled within the Raleigh Marriott City Center, Rye Bar and Southern Kitchen offers a delightful escape for those craving authentic North Carolina cuisine. This casual eatery is conveniently accessible without stepping outside, making it an ideal spot for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. Guests can indulge in a variety of mouthwatering dishes like pulled pork and fried chicken, with their popular "Meat + Two" lunch special providing an affordable option that includes an entree and two sides.
Ate here before a show because we were starving and had a pretty good experience. Our server did their best to accommodate our small time frame for dining. Great chicken wings, I'd recommend getting the NC hot and ask for extra sauce because it's delicious and they need to put more on there. I'd also recommend the fries because you get a lot of food and they are LOADED. Wine was great as well.

Nice relaxing place! If you’re staying at the Marriott this is by far the best option. Has lots of drink options for those that indulge. I had the whiskey bbq wings and they maybe the best wings I have had in a long time. And coming from a wing guy that says a lot. The burger came as ordered. My waitress TiNasia was spot on and very welcoming. Can’t wait to eat here again!

Make sure you schedule an additional hour to your expected breakfast time. Wait staff were in short supply, and we had to actively seek out staff for beverages during our long wait for our food. The breakfast food was top-notch, though! Dinner was another waiting experience, and we went up to the bar for most of our drinks. Every steak the group had was less than impressive. The brussel sprouts were excessively charred, and the only thing with much taste was the mushrooms.

I stopped by the Rye and Southern Bar for happy hour, and it was a solid experience. The atmosphere is laid-back yet vibrant, with a modern Southern vibe that feels welcoming. Pretty good craft cocktails and a solid selection of local beers, which paired nicely with their small plates. The staff was friendly and quick, keeping the drinks flowing even as the place got busy.

I recently stayed again at the Marriott in Raleigh, which is conveniently connected to The Rye Bar & Southern Kitchen. On my previous visit a few months ago, I was curious about the restaurant but didn’t give it a try. This time around, I finally did—and I’m so glad I did! The food was outstanding. On my first night, I had the baby back ribs, mac and cheese, and fries. Everything was flavorful and perfectly cooked. The mac and cheese, in particular, was so good that I had to order it again the next night. On that second visit, I tried the burger with fries and another side of mac and cheese—again, absolutely delicious. I also had breakfast there, opting for the strawberry-stuffed French toast with sage sausage. The French toast was delightful—rich, sweet, and satisfying. The strawberry filling was very fresh, which might not be to everyone’s taste (it was a bit too fresh for me), but still definitely edible and enjoyable overall. Highly recommend giving The Rye a try whether you're staying at the Marriott or just in the area. Solid food, great atmosphere, and worth coming back for!

I just had lunch here and overall it was a good experience. Walked in and the hostess had a little attitude when I asked for a table near windows explaining she was seating us in the rotation! Ok but it was quiet and I prefer a nicer table near light. Done. We had chicken and dumplings along with the local green salad top with chicken. Both were very good. Cousin had the grilled cheese with fries. Lunch was very good and we really enjoyed it. This was really a 4.5 however.

It’s a “meh”. I guess it’s what you get for a hotel restaurant. The food was okay but, the 16 ounce bone-in steak was inedible and was promptly and voluntarily taken off of my bill. It was overly seasoned and exceptionally salty (and I love salt). I sat in an area where you can do bar food or dinner which isn’t something you should do if you want real deal dinner service. Staff were very polite but, management wouldn’t be bothered with helping out. An okay option but, better options are around.

Place is located in the hotel lobby of the Marriott. They must be understaffed as we stood there a bit before we were seated. Once seated, they gave us water right away but took a bit for someone to come take our order. Then after we ordered, they came back and told my youngest daughter that what she ordered was already out...and lunch menu they gave us had just started. Also took a long time to get my drink even though there was hardly anyone around the bar. We had Salmon Cake, Collard Greens (both kids said it was good), Cheddar Grits (my oldest daughter sent them back as she didn't like them), Rye Wings, Shrimp and Crab Hush Puppies (amazing and recommended), Rye Burger (my youngest ordered this after her original order was out) and a couple Old Fashions and Margarita Platinum. Overall the chow was good, but the service does need lots of improvement for a place attached to a hotel.

We tried the Cordon Bleu, the Beignets, and the Bananas and Creme Crepe with strawberries and Nutella added. I recommend them all! We each enjoyed everything and want to come back for breakfast to try more while we are still here. Thank you for such a great experience! I'll definitely recommend it to everyone I know visiting the area! Matthew S. did a wonderful job taking care of us during our visit, knowing we were sharing he brought us extra plates, and was courteous and great about taking care of us while giving us time to enjoy everything. Well done!

I stopped by Simply Crêpes later in the day and while the atmosphere was nice, a few of the menu items and drinks I wanted to try were already sold out. The food I did have was decent, nothing extraordinary, but still enjoyable. I would be open to coming back earlier in the day to see all the available menu options.

When I say this restaurant was everything, that's an understatement! My family and I ate breakfast there on Aug 13th, 2025. The crepes were delicious, and so was the creme brūlée oatmeal. If you're in NC, go check them out. The atmosphere reminded me of when I was in Paris.

Our first time at the restaurant was two Fridays ago, and Hendrick was our server. He made such an amazing impression that we decided to come back this past Friday because he said he would be here. He remembered what we ordered the first time, stayed calm and professional, and made our experience even better we’ll definitely be back again!

The attached photo is taken before our meal arrived. We’ve been here over 45 minutes and have not even been given silverware yet. Our drink order was taken about 15 minutes in, and our drinks are now empty. The restaurant was busy when we arrived, but it hasn’t been in quite some time now. The food here is good enough that we keep returning. I think this will be our last visit.

The Daily Planet Cafe is a bright and cheerful coffee shop located within the Museum of Natural Sciences in downtown Raleigh.
Don’t be fooled that this place is connected to the museum. The food is delicious! I got avocado toast. It was so fresh with cucumbers on top. My children ate the French toast which was also delicious! My husband ordered the chicken sandwhich and said it was great. The portions are a good size too. Can’t wait to come back and explode the museum some more!

Just no, do not go here, end of story, they are just bad people bad service and disgusting food, refused to get a manager for a missed order of tenders and refused to fix it. Got security because I tried to fight it, and was BANNED from the museum for doing so. Add to that, they do not allow service animals and used that agenst me to help remove me. Do not go there. If they do not like you, you will be banned! (Pick is also the other tenders we did get, only 3 when should be 5, and 3 times smaller then they should be and a small meet of frys. Badbad place, end of story..)

A convenient FIVE STAR stop at The Daily Planet before touring the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences in downtown Raleigh (with toddler). Our lunch consisted of Fish & Chips (crispy flounder, french fries, coleslaw and tartar sauce); Southwestern Caesar Salad topped with fried chicken strips (romaine, parmesan, crispy tortilla strips, avocado, tomato and chipotle caesar); and a PB&J sandwich with fruit cup. The Daily Planet Cafe is locally operated and adjacent to the NC Museum of Natural Sciences. Indoor or outdoor seating is available. Breakfast, lunch, snacks, beer, wine, smoothies and Larry's Coffee. Desserts, too...

I absolutely love coming here literally every week! The iced mocha coffee is so nice, the smoothies and the food is top tier and always crafted to perfection! The staff especially the young lady named Mikyla I believe, was pleasant and courteous! A must try!
Etrof M — Google review
Unfortunately I was completely underwhelmed by the food. I got the chicken salad sandwich, which had a slice of pre sliced cheese that tasted like plastic, and someone else in my group got the chicken tenders, which were also super underwhelming. The fries and sweet potato tots were great in comparison, but the meal put me off so much I barely wanted to eat them. Great environment and generally very clean, but the food was just not good.
Corrin C — Google review
It used to be good, but now they have no wall mounted menu, and they expect you to scan an online menu with your phone to figure out what they have. Sorry, but that's an instant fail for me. I refuse to go to any restaurant that requires you to have a phone and make a data connection just to read their $_-$€¥ menu. I won't be returning until they bring back the menu on the wall.
Jeff C — Google review
We strolled into what we thought would be a cozy café, only to realize we accidentally entered the annex of a museum daycare—lattes served with a complimentary soundtrack of squeals, stroller wheels, and juice-box negotiations. Some sandwiches are delicate symphonies of flavor; but their vegetarian chicken sandwich was a percussion solo on a steel drum. It resisted, it pushed back, it dared to prove commitment to lunch. You don't eat it so much as survive it—and honestly, I think it will always win. The other sandwich claiming to be Chipotle chicken, unfortunately it's more like opening a novel titled The Spicy Adventure only to find 300 blank pages. It wasn’t bad, exactly—it was just aggressively un-chipotle. A culinary catfish, if you will. Oh and thank you, dear café, for not telling me my sandwich already came with fries, and then so graciously letting me order another pile. Now I have enough cold fries to start a side hustle. Exactly the dining experience I had in mind when I walked in. Dining here is like a low-stakes adventure: you will not be disappointed, you will not be thrilled, and you may emerge slightly drier than when you arrived. Bring your expectations, leave them somewhere else, and enjoy the safe, lukewarm ride. Cheers!

Cafe Carolina and Bakery is a locally owned neighborhood cafe and bakery that has been serving fresh and quality food since 1995. The menu features a variety of breakfast options, including delicious breakfast sandwiches served on different types of bread. In addition to the baked goods, they also offer sandwiches, soups, salads, and some of the best cupcakes in town. With multiple locations in Raleigh, this casual counter-service restaurant provides a convenient dining experience for families.
You order at the counter, and they call your name when your meal is ready. Pricey! To me $35.00 for a salad, a sandwich and 2 sodas is expensive. My wife got the Charleston Smoked Chicken Sandwich. She enjoyed her lunch but the bread seemed stale. I loved my Chicken Fiesta Salad. The dressing was excellent.

2025-01-10 Cafe Club Sandwich was good but not seasoned. I could taste the bacon and buttery croissant but that's about it. Did not get my Sweet Potato Biscuit. Lemon Bar was sweet and full of lemon flavor. UPDATE 1/18/25 Delivery Chicken Salad Sandwich was full of delicious, not sweet, chicken salad on a fresh croissant that was falling apart❤️ The Sweet Potato Biscuit was moist and tasted nasty. The Loaded Potato Soup was served in a large container but it was too tangy and salty which ruined the taste for me. It was suppose to come with a baguette and it came with a dinner roll😢 UPDATE 2/22/25 Cream of Broccoli Soup was fresh and full of fresh ingredients including lots of amazing cheese. Best I have ever had!!!

Decent little place to get breakfast. The food was decent, pretty bland overall but did the job. The service was pretty good, it's self service but the food was out fast and when one of our group dropped their coffee they gave him another for no charge. Would recommend for a quick bite or a drink.

Despite being busy, the professional and friendly staff ensure that orders are fulfilled promptly and even go the extra mile to provide excellent service.
im always on the search for a good bagel spot and this place is on my list now! line was almost out the door when we arrived but that just means there's something good to wait for, especially when all seating areas inside are taken up! service was efficient and friendly ans the bagels were incredible. will definitely be back for some of the other treats we were eyeing in the display case!

The bagels and specialty cream cheeses here are amazing. I used to frequent this place but stopped when I moved a few towns over. I thought about it anytime I craved a bagel. So when I had to start attending weekly Dr’s appts in waverly place, stopping here felt like a silver lining. However, this is the 3rd time (out of 5 visits) I’ve been SIGNIFICANTLY disappointed in my bagel:cream cheese ratio & quality of bagel. The flavors are awesome but the bagels were extra hard (boarderline stale?) and barely toasted. I supppse this could be solved by asking for extra cream cheese and extra toasted… but I shouldn’t have to. 2 of the visits have been fine (not plentiful, but I at least has some spread coming out the side & the bagel was warm)". Have I had bad luck thrice, or good luck twice? Not really sure what’s status quo based on such back and forth product. Today, there was such litter schmear that I could see bagel when I pulled it apart. Aka.. not even entirely covered. Kind of ridiculous for a $6 bagel that only costs $2 if I just took it home. I won’t say I’ll never be back because again.. flavors are amazing. But I might have to stop ordering ready made bagels here… of course, I only think about coming when I’m craving a ready made bagel (then get extras to make at home).
Kristyn S — Google review
I’ve been here twice now and it’s reminiscent of the northeast (NJ/NY) which is where I’m originally from. The bagels are really quite good and basically identical to what I’m used to back up north. I got myself a ham, egg and cheese sandwich on an egg everything bagel. I would definitely go back here if I am craving a bagel! I also got a slice of the cheesecake, which I find it hard to find some real good quality cheesecake, this places cheesecake has got the tanginess that are supposed to be there, the only critique I would say about it, is that it doesn’t have a crust, which I personally love having to my cheesecake, but it doesn’t take away from how good it is.
Colin C — Google review
One of the best bagel shops around the area. It’s heavily crowed in the morning and their desserts seem to be a specialty! I loved their breakfast bagel.
Vignesh S — Google review
Sandwiches are as outstanding as the customer service. We didn’t try the bagels but even the Rueben and sandwiches on Kaiser rolls would bring us back for more. There was no room for dessert but plenty of delicious options are available for the next visit. Worth the trip!
Tiffany F — Google review
Love this place. Their bagels and crumb cake are always on point. It's always busy weekend mornings and in a small location, so be prepared to stand in line (yes, it can go out the door) - don't worry about it, it moves quickly and the bagels are worth it.
Tara M — Google review
My co worker picked up bagels and three types of cream cheese and they were all delicious! I had the poppyseed with chive cream cheese and the bagel was soft and fresh and everything you want a bagel to be. Highly recommend!
Katharine B — Google review
The line seems long but they move through it very fast. The staff are super friendly and efficient. The texture of the bagels is a lot softer inside than the NY/NJ true bagels. When I bit into the bagel sandwich it all compressed to a very thin bagel. Also the inside of my bagel sandwich was burnt instead of toasted so that ruined the flavor. The Danish was very good.

Boulted Bread is a charming bakery located just outside the western boundary of Raleigh's Warehouse District. It offers a variety of pastries and loaves of bread made with local, organic grains. The bakery is popular among locals for its artisan bread and an assortment of sweet and savory pastries, including croissants, tarts, quiches, and morning buns.
Hands down to one of the best bakeries I've been able to try in the US. Everything was well balanced, not too sweet, nor greasy. Nice Textures overall with some clever ingredients combinations. Everything I've tried was tasteful, including the egg tarts (and I was surprised to find them here). I'll definitely have to come back.

I feel so fortunate to live locally to Boulted Bread, it’s one of my favorite places. their treats are delicious and made fresh, their staff are lovely and welcoming, and the coffee is always great. be prepared for a line in the morning on weekends (it’s worth the wait). if you get there a little later in the morning, you’ll be able to get the focaccia which has a different flavor each week and always hits the spot.

There may be a better bakery in Raleigh. But I sure haven’t found it! Fantastic bread, pastries, baguettes, you name it. Morning Buns are world class! A truly exceptional spot.

Came in on a super busy day today. The line was out the door and down the street, but it didn’t take that long to get in and order and we even got a table. The staff was super friendly and helpful since it was our first time. Despite it being so busy, I appreciated how willing they were to take care of us! We ordered the fennel gratin (delicious), the lemon custard tart (not too sweet, not too tangy, just right), the everything croissant (filled with garlic cream cheese. Absolutely the best baked good we had), and the morning bun (crunchy on outside and soft on the inside. Think monkey bread). Overall a great experience. Would love to come again. Def worth the wait!

I really need you to ship to us :) we visited yesterday for the first time. My daughter and I were visiting colleges. We shared a chocolate croissant and the spinach and onion focaccia. Amazing is an understatement! We also got a couple coffees and they were also delicious! We live about 3 hours away so it’s not crazy far BUT I wish I could come there every weekend! The staff was also very friendly and welcoming.

Items are hit or miss I did love the everything croissant. the morning bun was fresh and amazing as well however the pull apart barely had any filling the ham and cheese croissant was mediocre and I wasn't a fan of the loaf of bread or drip coffee I will say all items are fresh staff is very attentive and friendly it was a bit on the expensive side and I guess you just have to know what to get here
Denise V — Google review
Read a lot of great things about this bakery online and decided to visit, it did not disappoint. The chocolate croissants are closer to what I've tasted in Europe than anywhere else I've tried here. We also got a chocolate chip cookie that the kids loved, and a load of ciabatta that probably didn't make it an hour before we got home.

Benchwarmers Bagels is a popular bagel shop located in downtown Raleigh, known for its modern approach to crafting delicious bagels. They use a wood-fired oven and high-quality organic ingredients to create six different styles of bagels, along with unique cream cheese spreads like pimento cheese and Carolina reaper. In addition to their morning offerings, they also serve unique pizza on Friday and Saturday nights, cooked in the same wood-fired oven as their bagels.
Excellent bagel gem inside Transfer Co. Food Hall. Found out it doubles as a pizza shop after 5pm, pure genius. Missed the pies this time but a sure return trip just based on the level bagel goodness from here.
Raymond C — Google review
I had high expectations given that this place is rated as one of the top 25 bagel stores in the USA, but unfortunately, the bagels were a major disappointment. They were noticeably burnt, compromising both flavor and texture, and certainly not worth the premium price. Benchwarmer bagels lacked the soft interior and perfect crust that make a bagel truly exceptional. For the price and reputation, I expected much more. I would hesitate to return or recommend it based on this experience.
Adam S — Google review
First trying this spot and I have to say, I'm definitely coming back. I was ordering the salmon lox on a za'atar bagel and just when I was about to finalize the order my wife saw a separate menu where they have some daily specials I believe and I saw the lamb cheek bagel sammy so my wife ended up getting the lox and I got the special. It had shredded cheeks, fried egg, daily pickled cucumbers and pistachios. It was really freaking good. I also got a cup of coffee, I can't remember the name of the drink but it was basically an Americano with way less water then usual I think was named "short stop"?? Anywho it was great. Thank you guys, you rock!!
Adalberto C — Google review
There is nothing unlikeable about Benchwarmers. If I describe my perfect day, my mind can’t help but think that it starts at Benchwarmers. First, the staff is incredible. They are friendly and give exceptional customer service. And consistent! I have never been disappointed by the service or how my food is prepared. Their iced lattes are the best I have ever had. Since I moved away from Raleigh, I have been trying to find a coffee that compares. It’s like chasing a dream. Their bagels are great on their own, but this place makes a near perfect bagel sandwich. Options range from classic to niche, and their seasonal options never disappoint. Last, but not least… you must try to get there early on a weekend to get a cardamom bun. I think about them every weekend.
CJ R — Google review
So this whole experience started when I noticed a guy delivering firewood to Benchwarmers Bagels. Naturally, my curiosity kicked in (because how often do you see firewood headed to a bagel shop?), so I had to ask. To my pleasant surprise, John (the owner) and Connor (the head chef) both stopped what they were doing to answer my random questions. Turns out—they’ve got a wood-fired oven. (Cue my inner foodie doing a little happy dance.) As we kept chatting, they mentioned that they season and salt their own lox. Now, I’m a self-proclaimed lox junkie—I’ve crossed state lines for good lox before—so obviously, I had to try it. I went with their lox bagel topped with deviled egg spread and shaved onions, and let me tell you… it was next-level good. The flavors took me right back to my time in the Pacific Northwest, where I’ve had some of the best salmon of my life. Overall, this was one of those unexpectedly awesome encounters—friendly owner, passionate chef, great conversation, and food that absolutely delivered. If you’re in the Raleigh area looking for a bagel spot that actually puts love (and apparently firewood) into what they do, Benchwarmers is the place. You won’t regret it… unless you don’t like lox, in which case, we probably can’t be friends.
Swag F — Google review
I’m not too sure how well Benchwarmers would fair if there was a little more bagel competition in the area. The bagels are decent and their bagel creations are unique… but $30 for two bagel sandwiches that didn’t absolutely blow my mind… meh. Also the crowds are unreal… be prepared for a 20+ minute wait on weekends.
Blake — Google review
Very good! It was a very long line but they moved through pretty quick. Overall it was great, but the price is pretty steep. We got 2 bagels, one ham egg and cheese and one egg and cheese. Combined it was 25 dollars. Seems kind of crazy, especially since they aren’t particularly large. I would go back because the atmosphere is pretty cool and the food was good!
Ryan A — Google review
The bagels here are disappointing: quite small and not as flavorful as I expected, especially considering the price. I might be biased since I’m comparing them to the incredible bagels in Bethesda (Washington, DC), which are about the same price but far superior in taste and quality. Unfortunately, I wouldn’t return to this place.

Idle Hour Coffee Roasters, a boutique coffee shop in Raleigh, has quickly become a favorite spot for locals and visitors alike. The welcoming atmosphere and delicious offerings make it more than just a place for great coffee. With an array of delectable pastries and desserts on display, it's hard to resist indulging. The shop's minimalistic decor, including a large green velvet sofa and booth seating, adds to its charm.
I stopped by Idle Coffee for a quick iced latte and was a bit surprised when my caramel oat milk latte rang up at $8.30—whew! That said, it was a great latte. I ended up adding an extra shot, and I really appreciated the quality of their espresso. The staff was friendly and welcoming, which made the visit even better. I’m not in this part of town often, but I’ll definitely be back to treat myself again.

Cute Instagram worthy desserts, though very sweet and textures were something my child couldn't get over. A combination a jell, cake, frosting, chocolate shell, and cream. Service was fine, no issues. Parking was a little obnoxious. For the price of items I expected a little more of the interior. I do plan to try them again for the coffee.
Ani K — Google review
Very cute and well curated spot. The coffee was great and the chocolate loaf was perfect. It has parking in the back and plenty of seating. A very cozy stop just outside the downtown madness. I'm looking forward to trying the cupcakes I saw sometime!
Erin G — Google review
First, the seating was noticeably dirty. i ordered the Vietnamese iced coffee, took about 2 sips and the rest was just ice, as you’ll see in the picture. I didn’t expect them to fill the entire cup with ice like that for that price…never had that happen at any other coffee place. I probably would’ve asked for light ice if I had known. As a parent, I like to try new coffee shops and bring my kids along. It’s like a tradition. So I asked about kid-friendly options. The “refresher” they had on the menu is just sparkling water with a splash of syrup and they were charging over $4 for that…It felt like a low-effort drink with a high-effort price. Then I asked if I could just get a small cup of milk for my child, and they said they’d have to charge me the price of a hot chocolate for iThat made absolutely no sense. It wasn’t about the money. Sometimes, a small gesture like offering a splash of milk for a toddler can make a customer feel welcome. Instead, I felt like every little thing was about squeezing money out of customers. The space is also very tight, and overall, the vibe seemed more focused on profit than customer experience. Definitely not a family-friendly spot in my opinion. And won’t be coming back. Too many coffee shops around that doesn’t feel like a rip off.
Ruth A — Google review
Excellent iced Americano, but the real joy was in the homemade treats! I had the raspberry/ strawberry cheesecake shaped like a MUSHROOM!! The top part was raspberry cheesecake. The stem is white chocolate with strawberry cheesecake inside. The base is a brownie and the entire thing is a work of art!!!
Nicholas T — Google review
This coffee shop is more than a coffee shop, it’s an entire experience. They offer a variety of beverages and a bakery case full of unique delicacies that are almost too pretty to eat. They offer indoor and outdoor seating. It’s a great place to catch up with a friend for a coffee date.

Orange marmelade cake is absolutely amazing, but staff was not very friendly or helpful. Came in about 30 minutes before close and younger girl, running the register, seemed irritated that people were still coming in, even though there were plenty of customers still sitting. Took our order, but seemed pretty standoff-ish when talking to us about the order. Ended up just taking the cake and coffee to go. Again, NOTHING was wrong with the food/drinks, but the staff could be nicer. EDIT: It’s funny how Idle Hour is only replying to the more positive reviews… Doesn’t seem like y’all are making much effort to do better, if any at all.

We just had a wonderful stay at The Umstead. I’ve stayed here many times over the years, and this visit was by far the best. The attention to detail was exceptional — from the warm, attentive service to the impeccable cleanliness and comfort of the rooms. Every part of the experience felt thoughtful and refined. I’m already looking forward to returning over the holidays. A few standout staff made this visit especially memorable: The in room dining staff were all amazing. Nico, who helped with our bags and car, was fantastic — helpful, and professional. Lauris, our server in the bar/lounge on 7/25, provided excellent service, perfectly complemented by the incredible jazz music playing that evening. The in-room dining was also a highlight — prompt, delicious, and brought with genuinely friendly service.

The spa deserves every one of the 5 stars- the level of service is outstanding, personal attendants taking care of everything, showing you around. The design is clean and calming. The facilities- hot tubs, saunas, pools- everything is classy. There are lounges and relaxation rooms sprinkled everywhere. I think its worth the price to earn peace of mind for a few hours. They have thought of everything- and have the customers in their priority. Treat yourself or someone you love to a day here- you and they are worth it.

Came here for a work event. Beautiful hotel. Rooms are top notch and what you would expect from a 5 star hotel with a lovely turn down service. Food is outstanding. Enjoyed the lobster roll and sea bass. Views are outstanding and relaxing. The walk around the lake is lovely.

This hotel is worth the price tag if you can swing it. The service was fabulous from the front desk who remembered my name, the housekeeping guy who brought us a new coffee machine because we had trouble with the first, and the servers in Heron’s Restaurant were also very attentive, warm and funny. The rooms are plush and in very good condition. The air conditioning works well. There was no outside noise to wake us up. The room was serviced several times, including turning down beds and night, laying out slippers and bathrobes, wrapping up our charging cables with a small piece of leather with a snap, placing 2 super fancy chocolate truffles in the room, and more. Heron’s Restaurant is excellent. I highly recommend the tasting menu for dinner. We were served 5 courses plus 3 elegant amuse bite and several tiny sweets to take in an elegant box. Service was great. Plus, breakfast and lunch were very good too. Photos are from the tasting menu.

Let me preface this by saying that my husband and I have previously stayed at Umstead Hotel as well as dined at Herons on numerous occasions and we have always had top-notch service. However, yesterday, we arrived for a special event: sunset floating Sound Bath and I could not have been more disappointed in our interaction with some of the staff. Valet was very friendly and welcoming, as usual. The young lady even escorted us to the stairs towards the pool area, which is the service I’ve come to expect at this establishment. However, when we arrived poolside, the gentleman with the mustache that eventually greeted us seemed less than friendly as he redirected us back into the hotel while set up was finishing. Not a problem but the fact that he couldn’t even manage a smile, at the very least, was problematic. When we came back down at quarter ‘til as we were instructed in the email details, no one greeted us at all so we just stood around. I took the opportunity to take some photos of the grounds. When we were back at the pool entrance, again, we just stood around waiting. A couple of other ladies arrived and a blond young lady from bar staff promptly approached them and offered cold water while they waited. At this point, I realize that my husband and I were basically being purposefully ignored. I actually had to approach this young lady myself and ask if we should go on to check in or not. She replied that we were 10 minutes early but that she’d check with the event organizers. Eventually, she came back to us and we were ushered inside to check in. I was very offended that were we never greeted correctly and never offered a cold drink while we waited as I had observed with other guests. I’m not sure exactly what the problem was and I hate to race bait so I’ll chalk it up to poor event customer service. Thankfully, we didn’t have any issue with the other event organizers. Sadly, we ended up getting rained out and rescheduled. I intend to get my good money’s worth from this event although I’d prefer a full refund. I doubt that I will ever shell out the dollars for any special event at Umstead going forward and now I’m reluctant to book any spa service. But we’ll continue to book Herons, where it seems the restaurant staff is well trained on providing the excellent customer service that we’ve come to expect from Umstead Hotel. UPDATE: Though I didn’t expect it, hotel management reached out promptly after my earlier review, expressing genuine concern about our experience. They were apologetic and eager to make amends, assuring me they’re taking steps to address the issues I raised. I spoke with both David Mars, managing director, and Susan Hunnel, spa director. Their approach was both professional and compassionate, making it clear that they value guest feedback. The rescheduled floating sound bath took place on yesterday evening. It was seamless this time around, as promised. My husband and I are very pleased with the response of the hotel and my formerly one star rating has been changed to reflect that. We look forward to visiting again soon!

I had the best Spa experience of my entire life here. From the first guest service member to greet me at the door to everyone involved in between, the level of service was like none other. I didn’t feel like an outsider here as everyone was so attentive and I felt welcomed which sadly isn’t always the case at many spa hotels. My masseuse was amazing and had magic fingers- and what made me the happiest out of everything was that I didn’t trip over my robe - it was made for a petite woman!! ❤️❤️ - Thank you Umstead Spa for an amazing experience! I ended the day having lunch at The Herons restaurant and experienced the same level of service there too.

Very clean, great food and 5 star service! The best hotels show it with staff enthusiasm this place has it. The staff is trained to please and engage its guests. A year ago I had a negative experience that turned out to be outside the hotel managers control. He contacted me directly, explained the situation made it right and then promised me it wouldn’t happen again. He delivered 200%. This is place on my annual travel path and has more then earned my loyalty

Do not trust the hotel's valet. We attended a wedding reception at this location and used the hotel's complimentary valet service only for the valet to give our car to someone else. Thankfully we have a tracker on our car, but in any other case who knows if it would be recovered.

Fount Coffee + Kitchen is a great place to find quality coffee and organic fare. They have a great atmosphere, and the avocado toast is especially delicious.
.. One of the best coffee shops + brunch spots in the state of North Carolina. Indoor seating is limited, and the outdoor seating is first come/first serve, but the service is excellent. Diego made our visit special. Whatever Diego is getting paid, it’s not enough. He loves his job. He loves what he does and the team he does it with. He is an employee that any company would kill to have on their team. I was so impressed how much the staff at Fount Coffee + Kitchen love their craft. When you mix talent, passion and an unwavering loyalty to a purpose, the results are magical.

This was a great coffee shop. The place was nice and clean with both indoor and outdoor seating. The staff was nice and friendly, and I like that they bring your food and drink out to you. I ordered the black sesame coffee, which was pretty good, although a little strong. I also ordered the Lemon Rosemary scone which was a soft scone, not hard like I’m used to, but it was moist and had a really good flavor. Overall, thumbs up for cleanliness, layout, food and coffee and customer service.

Fount coffee shop has intrigued me three times now, exudes a vibrant atmosphere and fosters a strong community. Their Merch is an absolute must-try, and I highly recommend their Rosemary cashews at the front counter - they’re I’m convinced that there levels now to cashews! I anticipate my next visit to explore their other coffee and food offerings. While I’ve only had the coffee so far, I’d rate the latte I had a solid 3.5 out of five. What truly sets Found apart is its exceptional customer service. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable, most of whom have been dedicated to the shop for at least two years. Considering the high turnover in the coffee industry, this is truly impressive. It’s evident that the owners and management take great pride in their staff, and it’s wonderful to meet individuals who have been part of this community for so long. The location of Found is also beautiful, and I particularly enjoy browsing their merchandise, which is an integral part of their coffee culture. Overall, Found is a fantastic destination for coffee enthusiasts, and I can’t wait to return and delve deeper into their diverse offerings.

Awesome coffeehouse! Great people, nice food menu, skilled baristas. Espresso was delicious, a special ferment from Ethiopia that had balanced fruit aromatics. The cortado that accompanied it in the “1+1” was beautifully prepared (see pic) and delicious. The avocado smash had an inch thick of tasty guacamole on tasty toast. Place was really busy, long line, yet the wait was OK, and worth the wait. Highly recommend and we will definitely revisit when back in the Durham area.

This is my favorite place to sit and study or just hang out with friends. The vibe is always calm and welcoming, and the drinks and food never disappoint. I absolutely love their matcha and lattes. They’re made with high quality ingredients and no artificial flavors or sweeteners. All their syrups are made with honey and coconut sugar, which makes everything taste even better. Their salads are also super fresh and delicious. Highly recommend this spot if you’re looking for a cozy place with great food and a relaxing atmosphere.

First visit to Fount (a place on my list to try for a while) did not disappoint! I have been on a cappuccino kick since returning from Italy in May so I tried that with their house made syrup of the summer, toasted coconut. The person who took my order was very kind and patient with me as I stumbled through my order (I’m new to coffee and he asked if it was my first visit to Fount.) While I waited, he brought me one of their fresh-baked goods to try- a cinnamon coffee cake. So nice of him for the added treat! Great vibe, outstanding service, and quality coffee. What more do you need? Thanks for the morning treat, Fount! See you soon!

Good Day Good Night is a trendy restaurant with a relaxed atmosphere that serves international cuisine and cocktails. It's recommended for its mushroom asada tacos, portobello Reuben, and chickpea fries. The restaurant offers a 3-course prix fixe menu for special occasions. Customers praise the friendly service and delicious breakfast options like the farmers omelette and croissant french toast.
We stayed at the Casso in Raleigh, where this restaurant is located, and visited a couple times for breakfast while we were there. Food was delicious, but sit at the bar if you can - that way you get to hang out with Christopher, who is a great conversationalist and will definitely go above and beyond in taking care of you.
Helen W — Google review
I've eaten at Good Day Good Night quite a few times throughout the years and I've never been swayed enough one way or another to properly take the time and sit down and give a review until now. Before, the food was perfectly serviceable for a hotel restaurant. It had common plates and was a perfectly whelming experience that may have been a little pricey for what you got. But now? Now I would argue Good Day Good Night is a true gem in Raleigh's culinary crown. The new menu by Chef Devin is really something special. Fusion is always a big buzzword, but you can tell each item on the streamlined menu has been so meticulously crafted with care. Cornbread inspired by their grandparents, andoullie croquettes, and probably the best shrimp and grits I've ever had in my life, and I just straight up hate shrimp and grits on any other day. This isn't your usual hotel restaurant fare. They did not have to go this hard, and yet they have someone that detests the very idea of bananas, wanting to try their banana creme brulee all over again for the very first time. The plating is amazing, the staff are all super friendly and incredibly meticulous, and Amanda was one of the best servers we've ever had. The cocktails weren't watered down and reasonably priced. Literally the only negative I can possibly come up with, is that the kale slaw just wasn't for me. And that's absolutely personal preference. If you haven't been to Good Day Good Night recently, you need to take the time to experience this new menu. You'll be glad you gave the restaurant another chance. And if you've never been before, please take the chance to experience one of the most underappreciated restaurants in a booming culinary capital. Good Day Good Night is really a cut above and I can only hope to see how the menu continues to evolve.

WOW! a must-visit spot. The avocado toast is a true standout. Topped with pepitas, grilled corn, and crumbled queso fresco, it's a unique and delicious twist on a classic with perfectly prepared eggs by a very skilled chef. Our server, Alex is impeccable-is arguably the best server in Raleigh—attentive, fast, and constantly working and moving.

We enjoyed our New Year’s Eve dinner! Our server, Jamie, was excellent! We enjoyed the baked Brie and cheese plate for 2 for appetizers. For entrees, we had salmon, pork tenderloin, and the New York strip. For sides, we had the Brussels (so good!) and the wild mushrooms. Everything was prepared perfectly and to the right temperature. Wine and Old Fashioned were good as well! We will return!

One word: IMPRESSED! I went for the first time on a Saturday evening and immediately fell in love with the ambiance. It has the charm of a speakeasy but with a brighter, more open concept. The cocktail selection was amazing, especially their list of well crafted old fashioneds. The truffle fries are a must order if you're into those. Lastly, my server Alex was phenomenal! They were knowledgeable about the menu, made sure I had everything I needed, and were an absolute joy to interact with. If you end up here, definitely request Alex as your server. Overall, this place is a 10/10 and truly a hidden gem in the Raleigh area!

During our recent stay at The Origin Hotel, we enjoyed our dinner at the on-site restaurant. While the bar was starting to fill up, the restaurant was very quiet. The staff were very attentive and friendly. The decor is really trendy and eclectic. The restaurant is very inviting and makes you want to stay a while and enjoy the food and company. We enjoyed our summer cocktails - Watermelon Sugar (pictured) and Tiki River - which were perfect summer flavors. I will note that the Watermelon Sugar cocktail does not mention a mint flavor and I would probably ask for this to be left out when ordered again. Our dinner was equally delicious. We had the OG Burger with cheese and Naked Chicken Wings. Both pictured. If we ordered the burger with cheese again, I would request only 1 slice of cheese as 3 slices was a bit thick for the burger. The hand cut fries were delicious and flavorful. They were crispy on the outside and not flimsy like some hand cut fries. The wings were crispy and flavorful as well. I will add that a sprinkle of salt is added to the wings, so if you truly want naked wings then ask for no finishing seasoning as well. We were too full to try dessert, but this will definitely be somewhere we visit again for a great casual date night meal.

Amazing night out! We were nervous bringing our kiddo but they treated him like royalty and we all loved every minute! Attentive wait staff, amazing interior design, and phenomenal food! Went for lunch with my mom and friend and it was surprisingly quiet for a Sunday at lunchtime. Good vegetarian options, my friend enjoyed the black bean burger on pita. I loved the firecracker shrimp Mac and cheese. My mother enjoyed her Irish breakfast very much as well. We shared the spinach dip and that was a nice starter. This place is great, been around for ages, has a good St. Patrick's "bloc party" and service is friendly. It could use some upgrades on seating for the lower levels. The chairs and booths show their age and aren't the most comfortable.

The Hibernian in Downtown Raleigh is phenomenal. I'd give six stars if I could (I think that's a thing maybe in the old Dunstin Checks in movie??). The GMs Keith and Sarah are beyond lovely and will make you feel right at home. Justin and Katie helped us out at our table and were attentive and lovely. Just be ready for Keith to pull up and start telling some fun crazy stories from his time in NYC or Ireland! The downstairs vibe is perfect where you feel that you can have an intimate conversation at a booth, and be chill, while upstairs is more lively, and the rooftop has so many nooks and crannies to sit. Definitely will be visiting again!!

Barry's Cafe is a cozy and traditional coffee shop that offers all-day breakfast, burgers, sandwiches, beer, and wine. The family-oriented restaurant has a diner feel with an abundance of firefighter decor and has been serving the Raleigh-Cary community since 1994. Owner Barry Doyle established a nonprofit foundation called Feed the Firefighters to support emergency responders. The cafe is known for its all-day breakfast with plenty of gluten-free options and delicious hamburgers.
This has been our best breakfast place so far. They have a welcoming ambiance, filled with tributes to firemen. I ordered a chicken sandwich and veggie omelet. The quality of the food was top-notch and cooked to perfection. The fries were prepared just right. The butter pods on each table are of good quality too. The open kitchen is very clean. The old lady, who I think is the owner or manager, was attentive and welcoming.

Absolutely spotless and seriously impressive. Barry’s Deli is one of the cleanest places I’ve ever been. Even the air vents up top where you usually see dust, are spotless. Every detail is cared for. The place is filled with fire helmets and decor, and not a speck of dust on any of it. The kitchen staff doesn’t stop—after every single item they cook, they’re already cleaning. The grill? Immaculate. On top of all that, everyone there is smiling and kind. You can just tell nobody cuts corners here. I had the beef wrap, and we also tried the grilled chicken wrap, both were absolute perfection. Fries were hot and crispy, coffee was great, and the service was outstanding. Totally blown away.

Pretty good place for breakfast. The cooks don't know how to cook eggs at all, but everything else was really good. We did have to wait more than 45 minutes for our order to hit the table. The orders were not correct. The staff quickly corrected the orders and apologized for the excessive wait time. As a former firefighter: I liked the firefighter theme and was impressed with the patch-boards. Overall, we had a good time. Just be careful what you order. The prices here were far more than we had anticipated. A lot higher...

Came here on a whim and was blown away! Livvy was such a great server. She helped us pick out items from the menu after a long day on the road. Let me just say, the baked goat cheese is to die forrrrr. Seriously, I will be dreaming about that from now on. All the ingredients were fresh and you could really tell the quality. The ambiance was great. Nice low lighting for the evening and the tables were spaced out so even the large party next to us wasn’t too loud. Our server, Livvy, was quick, but didn’t rush us and gave us plenty of time between courses. Parking was easy because it’s in a shopping center and there are loads of tables inside along with a bar to sit at so you can have your preference. Brunch at Tazza Kitchen Village District was just okay. The Crab Cake Benedict had potential but the flavors were flat and the prosciutto didn’t work with the dish. Pam's Farmhouse Restaurant is a charming, unpretentious eatery in West Raleigh that has been a local favorite for over 20 years. Recently reopening its doors to indoor dining, this spot is known for serving up delicious Southern comfort food all day long. Guests rave about the warm and welcoming service from the staff, as well as the generous portions of classic dishes like meatloaf, BBQ chicken, and flounder.
Pam’s Farmhouse is one of my favorite places to grab breakfast. I’ve been coming to Pam’s for 10+ years and have never been disappointed. They have the best biscuits— they are always freshly made. I order the sausage and cheese omelette with apple sauce. Pam’s is cash only but they do have ATM machines in case you forgot cash.

Food is delicious, service is great, we really liked our waitress. But two things stop me from giving them five stars overall: 1. Servings were rather small for the price. 2. They only accept cash, which could pose problems for travelers who only use plastic or apps. And it also makes it more difficult to leave a good, accurate tip. I barely had enough cash on hand and now I must go to the ATM. But overall, it was a good dining experience.

I could go on and on, but the only major red flag is that they only accept cash. First of all, this is a great tasting hole in the wall. The food was very tasty and satisfying, and as a bonus, they have black strap molasses right on the table. The staff is friendly, attentive, and quick. The freshly made biscuits were excellent. I was required to use an ATM, and there was a $2 fee. This makes it somewhat pricey for breakfast, especially since the menu pricing are average. Bring cash, though, because this place is worth the trip.

Customer service was top-notch! I had the waffles with chicken tenders and it was pretty good. Overall, I will definitely be back to visit. They are cash only but they have an atm on site with a $1.00 transaction fee.

Another Broken Egg Cafe is a casual chain known for its delicious egg dishes and breakfast items, as well as brunch sandwiches. The menu features a variety of mouthwatering options such as hash brown or smoked salmon benedicts, chicken and waffles, cinnamon roll french toast, and shrimp and grits. Additionally, the restaurant offers a seasonal menu that showcases fresh and in-season ingredients. Customers can expect attentive service from friendly staff members like Josh who ensure that orders are taken promptly.
A easy no fuss go to spot for brunch. The parking is plentiful. There is minimum wait times and crowds. The staff is pleasant and welcoming. The restaurant was clean and well lit. The service is fast, the food is fresh and good. I went with a blackberry mule as a cocktail and this was delicious. I enjoyed the power bowl which has scrambled eggs mixed with country ham, onions and tomatoes over Cheddar Jack cheese grits. It came with country sausage gravy but I asked for that on the side. There was also baked bacon and a large biscuit with the bowl. I really enjoyed the bowl. Very filling. The biscuit was really good and fluffy. I do recommend Another Broken Egg. If you're in a rush they do have an option to get on their wait list.

Ate here for breakfast versus eating our free breakfast at the hotel next door. Parking in the area is horrendous so if coming it will be challenging to find parking. We waited an hour for a table, that’s fine, they were busy. The hostess was kind and welcoming. They texted when our table was ready and we were seated at the bar. Understandably the bartender is busy with drinks so it was somewhat hard to get refills or service at times. The food was pretty good too. Wasn’t the cleanest, I consider the fact they are busy but there are some questionable hygiene things I noticed. Overall was good and I’d come back! Would hope for it to be a little cleaner next time.

Brittany took great care of us. The beignets were absolutely amazing. I ordered the huevos rancheros and the city grits. All of it was amazing the service was great in a relaxed atmosphere. Just don't inhale the powdered sugar on the beignets. 😀

The bartender and our server TRISTIAN was amazing, so personable and friendly. I was struggling with the menu a bit but he suggested the apple fritter pancakes and they were amazing. My sister had the hey Lucy omelette and it was also to die for 10/10

We had brunch here to celebrate my son's graduation, and everything was wonderful. The staff was welcoming and attentive, making sure our group was comfortable and well taken care of. The food was fresh and flavorful, especially the chicken and waffles, shrimp and grits, and mimosas. The atmosphere was bright and lively, perfect for a special occasion. They helped make the celebration feel meaningful and stress-free, and we truly appreciated the experience.

Enjoyed this spot. They have classics and elevated twists. I enjoyed the lobster 🦞 and brie omelet. Kids meals here, as well. Fresh fruit included huge blackberries, big blueberries and strawberries.

Before I start, to be fair, we walked in 1 hour before closing. We loved the atmosphere of Another Broken Egg, but the service and the food was subpar today. This was our first time and I can honestly say that I seriously doubt we will be returning. Our waiter took our drink order, brought our drinks, then came back to take our food order and we didn't see him again until we were beyond ready to leave. Someone else quickly dropped off our food and left. As you can tell in one picture, my sausage was clearly burned. We were wanting a little extra syrup, but the waiter never returned and we aren't the sort of people to raise our voice in a restaurant in order to interrupt someone else who was so intent on leaving their shift that tables beside us were being moved around & swept under while we were eating. When our waiter returned to give us our bill we asked for carryout boxes and I explained how I was unable to eat at least half of my sausage because it was burnt. His reply was that he would try to get some to replace those pieces, but they were extra pieces anyway because I wasn't supposed to get that much sausage with my meal. (REALLY?🤔 That's a proper reply?) We had just returned from a physical therapy session and aren't ones to sit and talk until a restaurant closes because we know those people want to go home. Had we been checked on when our plates were delivered or even once after before delivering our bill I could have shown him the problem. The manager looked busy in one of the front booths by the bar/kitchen exit/wait station and didn't come by either so we couldn't inform him. I think there were 2or 3 top tables of people while we were there and a very nice patron that came in about 15 minutes before closing and sat at the bar to eat so they definitely were not busy. I used to be in the service industry, my children have been too, so I know how important their tips are. I HATED leaving a note on our bill telling this gentleman that had we seen him even once between someone delivering our food and him bringing our bill he would have received a much better tip that the lowest standard. 😒 I can say that the coffee he made me was wonderful. The food (even without the burnt sausage) was unimpressive. Sorry ABE! It just didn't work for us.

Peck & Plume is a stylish restaurant located inside The Mayton Hotel in Cary, NC. It offers a sophisticated dining experience with large windows and elegant spaces. The menu features Southern-inspired comfort food with a touch of elegance, including shrimp and grits and steak frites. The restaurant also provides gluten-free options and uses ingredients from local farms. Guests can enjoy occasional live music on the spacious patio while savoring New American cuisine with global influences.
Had a wonderful experience at Peck & Plume! The atmosphere is stylish and relaxed, perfect for a date night or brunch with friends. The food was beautifully presented and delicious. Service was attentive and friendly without being overbearing. Highly recommend if you’re looking for a spot that feels upscale but still welcoming.

This review is ONLY for the special Bubbles & Ice ticketed dinner & NOT for the actual "normal" dinner service, which we have dined in several times & greatly enjoyed. We were excited to enjoy a well priced ($85/pp) evening of a 3 course dinner w/ bubble pairing posted for 6pm. We arrived at 5:40 & were told that the doors had to open at 6 so we should wait at the bar. No problem - we had a glass of cava & were happy to wait for the "doors to open." As all of us were being seated at the same time, it led to a huge group congregating at 6pm waiting to be sat. My husband & I had no clue that it was group seating. We were at a table of 6 - I believe there were 3-4 tables of 6 & another table of 8-10. While we enjoyed our company, had we wanted to have a quiet, private date night, this would have been a major disappointment. Truth be told, we kind of did want our own table as it was a special anniversary, but we took it in stride. I think its important for the website to market it as group dining if that's the case... The atmosphere was very kitschy. Wedding chairs, wedding table decor, a bubble machine, & intermittent pours of dry ice into a vase of water on the table. Not really the high-end vibe of a champagne dinner. The servers were AMAZING!!!!! Waters, champs stayed full - plates cleared, light conversation, everyone moving in unison, etc. They killed it. The host/sommelier (not sure) kept ringing a bell for the start of the event, palate cleansers, discussion of food/champs, etc. Not to be snobby, but we were drinking Chandon and Veuve - great bubbles, but nothing extraordinary that required bell ringing. It ended up taking away from the event and we felt awkward eating our sorbet until the bell had rung granting us permission. There was way too much focus on unnecessary talking-presentation. Caviar on potato passed amuse bouche was great but the second was a goat's milk and sorbet ice. It was odd. It was very tart and off-putting. The first course - smoked scallop crudo - was phenomenal. Amazing smoke flavor with well-chosen accoutrements. Palate cleanser of lemon sorbet with thyme syrup was very sweet. The syrup hardened against the frozen sorbet & was thick and gooey. The second course of rabbit, sausage, & whipped potato was yummy. Very well done! Next palate cleanser of raspberry sorbet and lychee boba was good - better than the lemon, but still overly sweet. I'm not sure how it worked as a palate cleanser with such strong flavors. The dessert was a mascarpone and strawberry panna cotta "cake". I found it to be strange - a mix of textures w/ random salty bits that didn't compliment one another. After the 6th or 7th bell ring, the exec chef (Greg Nettles) & chef de cuisine (Tyler Trice) came out -- clearly a lot of talent there & with the exception of the cleanser & dessert - crushed it! They very clearly took pride in their work and direction. Our dinners at the restaurant (sans special meal) was always great, but this "wedding without knowing the parties" was a bit strange. The pours were generous, food (especially savory) good, & price was more than fair... I just really would have wanted to know about the seating, not been interrupted so much, & have more thought put into the decor and flow. Also, there were missed opportunities. As 75% of us seemed to arrive by 5:45, we should have been seated right away with a special cocktail menu available to us in the back room. More money for you guys and more comfort to the diners. Also, would have loved to have had an opportunity before dessert to be presented a bill and add gratuity for the servers. 20% was already included in our pre-pay, but the staff was going above and beyond and could have been compensated as such. The $85/pp price point was such a good deal that you could have been creative and thought of extras. We would absolutely return, but hope that this review (and other feedback) be taken into account. Events like this have A LOT of promise, but can be tweaked a bit...

Stumbled upon this place while trying to kill some time. Nice restaurant. Definitely on the more upscale side. Menu was a little limited but the food was delicious and the ingredients tasted fresh. The wings were honestly so delicious I’d go back tomorrow just to get more. I wish I remembered to take a picture before they were all gone. The blueberry pie was a perfect end to our meal. Would probably come back if we were in the area.

Unforgettable experience! Server, Rachel P., was so knowledgeable about the menu and truly went out of her way to make sure I had the best dining experience and stay at The Mayton Inn. Clair was our talented server one evening in the library. She was wonderful and made our experience very special. Savannah took care of my whole family for dinner one night and she made it a perfect experience. Jacob was so welcoming and fun behind the bar and made us drinks with presence and flair (pictured). The food was so delicious so I must say, "Compliments to The Chef!" Everything they brought out was a delicacy, true talent there. I especially loved the Cobia Cruda, corn bread, beef tartare, burger and chickpea socca. Also, big shout out to Russel, Thomas and Paul for helping me during my stay. They were kind, generous and accommodating. This is my favorite place to stay and to dine when I am visiting Cary and Raleigh. I can't wait to come back!

Let me just tell you, run, don't walk to make your reservations for this place. It was Amazing!!! We were there about 1.5 hours for a party of 5, but that's pretty normal for a good restaurant. It's inside The Mayton hotel in downtown Cary.. Shrimp and Grits Fish Tacos x 2 NY Strip Stripped Bass with Collard Bourbon Caramel Apple Tart Chocolate Sin Cake Lavender Crème Brūlee Not pictured- Pimento cheese and pulled pork dip with fried pita chips * I don't even like pimento THIS WAS GREAT!! Collard Egg Rolls- a little on the spicy side but sooo good. Second visit= New Menu. The Salmon was the best dinner I've literally ever had. The rice and squash was paired perfectly. The ribeye was delicious- but he did mention the NY strip was better. Focaccia bread with tomato and squash was a good starter. Finally, my nephew got the burger that he said was great. He wasn't expecting the double burger and had to separate them. Another meal, Another Win for Peck & Plume

Dined here on a Friday evening with a 5pm reservation and had a lovely experience. The staff was warm, attentive, and let us choose a cozy table by the window. Our server was thoughtful throughout. The food was fantastic—my grilled salmon had unexpected bursts of flavor, and my boyfriend enjoyed his fried chicken sandwich. Would happily come back!

Stopped by after work for a drink. The bartender recommended their own spin on the old fashioned when I asked for one. The drink not only was complex and layered, it was VERY full of alcohol. Is $25 for a cocktail in Cary ridiculous on the surface? Sure. But I expensed it so…. Again, s/o to the bartender. She was delightful. I ordered a Mayton burger to go. It didn’t come with bacon and they were unsure if they had jalapeños but said “we’ll find you some”. They even offered to have someone bring it to the room, which I appreciated. The burger was great, smashed and filled with goodies and cheese. The only issue was the limp fries but that coulda been avoided had I eaten in. Again, this is typically overpriced hotel fare but great nonetheless.

Serving up small plates and cocktails, the spot has wonderful views of Raleigh's North Hills district. Named one of 2020's best bars by Best Bars, Level 7 is a must-go for anyone visiting the area.
Amazing experience! My fiancé did my surprise proposal here on Christmas Eve and it was absolutely magical. Management and staff went above and beyond to accommodate setting everything up and being able to do the proposal on their beautiful rooftop. Finishing with a glass of champagne at their gorgeous bar. I cannot recommend them enough. Date night, photo shoot, proposal whatever you need. This is the place to do it!

I forgot how terrible the customer service is here. 6 employees behind the bar. One guy nudges the girl to get off her cell phone to take care of us with only 2 other couples at bar. We asked for a drink menu and the girl rolls her eyes at us. Last time we were here, they were out of half the beers and wines, on a Thursday night. Come here for the view, not good customer service

Level7 Rooftop - Stunning Views, Misleading Vibes" My experience at Level7 Rooftop left me with mixed feelings. Situated atop a hotel, the stunning views initially promised an exciting night out to celebrate my birthday. However, the reality didn't quite live up to the expectations set by their website. The ambiance was more suited for an older crowd, resembling a 55+ club rather than the lively atmosphere I anticipated based on their online presence. The music felt bland, further emphasizing the mature vibe. As a bar, the food was average, leaning towards typical bar fare. The drinks, however, were well-made and enjoyable. Despite the mediocre offerings, the service was attentive, and our orders arrived promptly. The main redeeming factor was the breathtaking scenery. If you're looking for a place to appreciate the view while sipping on a well-crafted drink, Level7 Rooftop might be worth a visit. However, if you're seeking a lively atmosphere, this might not be the ideal destination. In conclusion, my experience at Level7 Rooftop was salvaged by the gorgeous views, but the overall ambiance and energy didn't align with my expectations or what their website portrayed. Their marketing team deserves credit for their presentation, but the reality left me somewhat disappointed.

My husband and I were guest at the hotel for a night to celebrate his birthday weekend. The bar is very nice, and drinks were good but, a few days later when I compared our receipt to my credit card statement there was an additional $70 charged. there weren't any gratuities added when I received my receipt, so I gave our waitress a $50 cash tip. I called the bar to speak with a manager and got the voice mail. I left a message and I'm waiting for a call back. I will update my review once I hear back from someone to resolve this issue.

My wife and I were staying at the hotel and went up to the restaurant for a quick breakfast. When we got off the elevator there wasn’t a host/hostess so we stood around waiting. Eventually a hostess appeared and in a bothered tone pointed us to breakfast buffet and said to choose a table to sit at. We walked around three tables that had chewed food crumbs on plates and tabletop and finally got to a table that wasn’t soiled with partially eaten food. The hostess was very rude when mentioning we could order a la carte off a menu. Due to the rude service and unsanitary environment we decided to leave and get breakfast down the street. We will never return to Level7.

Bakery
Restaurant
Union Special, a beloved local bakery and cafe in Raleigh, offers a delectable array of freshly made sandwiches, pastries, and vegan fare. The establishment prides itself on using locally sourced ingredients whenever possible and features items like the Grown Up Grilled Cheese with kale pesto and pepper jelly on sourdough. The industrial decor pays homage to traditional American manufacturing, reflecting the inspiration behind the name 'Union Special,' which is derived from America's oldest industrial sewing machine.
My favorite bakery in Raleigh. it’s the place I go for a reliable loaf of bread and coffee+biscuits for breakfast on weekends. They’ve never let me down and like many others have mentioned, the vibes are immaculate. I get the biscuit with a side of sausage and it’s simple and satisfying every time. Their drip coffee is also world-class.

Excellent atmosphere, great tunes, lovely decorations and wonderful staff. My husband got the Cuban (look at that cheese pull!) and I got the Union Egg sandwich. I highly recommend the Chow Chow aioli as a substitute or on the side. We shared an order of fresh sourdough with sorghum butter and it was absolutely delightful, so crunchy. I especially loved the butter and had quite a bit to take home. I also highly recommend one of the sodas from a local NC company, Bingo-Bango. The strawberry lemonade was sweet, lightly tart and very refreshing. Great experience all around. I recommend coming as early in the day as possible to sample more of their delicious baked goods.

Cool, hip bakery. Located at 440 and capital. Food is good not special. Other bakeries excel at desert bakery items. This places seems to focus on Sandwiches. Very diverse gathering spot makes it neat. Relatively quiet spot unless the work from restaurant folks are here. My hubby loved his turkey sandwich. I think my croissant from Lidil was just as good and tasty. You can definitely zone out here for a while if you’re seeking Down time.
Two D — Google review
Very good food, very bad attitude. The service was so cold it ruined what I’d hoped would be my new go-to bakery. On two visits—one near closing, one early morning—the staff was curt and unwelcoming. The croissant was ethereal, the sourdough solid, and everything else fresh and well prepared (though the salad I ordered "with no meat, please" arrived with chicken). Immaculately clean, but the atmosphere matched the service: chilly. I’ll try the other coffee shops at Gateway Plaza instead.
Julia G — Google review
Coffee, atmosphere, and pastries are all excellent but I’m not a fan of the menu changes over the years. Miss the collard greens and grits. Don’t like that bacon is default on the hash and is in almost everything else. I’m not even vegetarian but there’s nothing on the menu I can eat without substitutions now (pork allergy, GF). Also the $4 upcharge to sub a tiny side of home fries for the salad or chips feels absurd. Maybe y’all could improve margins by making bacon the add-on instead.

Drove down today from the Wake Forest area to ease a breakfast sandwich craving. Ordered The Union Egg Sandwich. The egg was perfect, the brioche nicely steamed, the right amount of cheese, hash brown was crunchy. Got some bread and a pastry to go. Nice space to sit for lunch. Will be back 10/10.

The storefront was clean and we'll lit. You can tell this a popular local spot and people don't mind waiting for freshly made bread and food items. I came here once before when I was in town for work and wanted to try them again and they landed another hit! The Chopped Cheesesteak meets Chip Butty was wonderful (I would have loved a bit more flavor from the meat though)!! Great portion size, and the side salad with champagne vinaigrette was refreshing.

The Optimist Raleigh is a charming coffee shop nestled in the beloved neighborhoods of Historic Oakwood and Mordecai, inside the beltline of Raleigh. Despite opening during the pandemic in May 2020, it has quickly become a popular spot. The interior is adorned with plants, creating a cozy and welcoming atmosphere, complemented by delightful decorations during festive seasons like Halloween.
This was our first time here and we will be back! Service was fast and so welcoming and friendly! I got a seasonal coffee, Rosemary's Baby-- Rosemary and brown sugar had no business being as amazing together as they were... it was awesome!!! I got a breakfast sandwich on sourdough with avocado and sausage added... it was super good! My mom got a cappuccino and the coffee cake...that coffe cake... so good!!! I was in love with the atmosphere!!! All the plants, the darker, rich colors. So calm and comfortable all at the same time. I can't wait to go back!

The cold brew was decent. The food was unfortunately really disappointing. We tried several of their breakfast sandwiches on sourdough and they were super small and sloppily constructed and frankly not fair to sell at the price point. The service felt really grumpy, food sorta thrown at us. It sounds like that’s meant to be part of the charm but it wasn’t charming

Oatmeal and coffee are pretty good, what gave this a low rating was the experience. I was brought oatmeal with no spoon. They also didn't have any reusable spoons, only plastic. In which I had to get myself. Which is fine but odd to bring out a food item with no utencil. Was served my coffee in a throwaway cup which was disappointing as I did specify for here and see others being served their coffee in mugs. Just not the cafe experience I expected.

The Optimist in Raleigh offers a pleasant atmosphere, making it a great spot to study or get some work done. The setting is comfortable, with plenty of seating options that encourage productivity and relaxation. However, there were some quirks that didn't quite align with the positive vibe you'd expect from a place called "The Optimist." For instance, there are signs all over the place, and the WiFi password is “this place sucks,” which felt ironic and a bit off-putting for a place that's supposed to radiate positivity. During our visit, we tried **The Fig** ($10), an English muffin with fig jam, goat cheese, and mint (we opted for no bacon). We also had **The Hulk Smash** ($10.50), which is a sourdough toast topped with avocado, green tomato, arugula, cabbage, and chili crisp. To drink, we ordered two versions of **The Stacey** latte ($5.50)—one hot and one iced. This latte is made with espresso, honey, cinnamon, vanilla, and milk. While the food tasted great, I found it to be significantly overpriced for what we got. Paying $10 for a small English muffin and $10.50 for a piece of toast is hard to justify, especially in North Carolina where you can find similar offerings at much more reasonable prices. The portions were modest at best and left us feeling like we didn’t get our money’s worth. To add to the disappointment, the lattes were not enjoyable at all. Neither my husband nor I liked them, which is unusual because he's generally not picky when it comes to coffee. We ended up throwing them away, which only compounded the feeling that we’d wasted our money. For the three items, we paid $35, and it simply wasn’t worth it. Overall, while the atmosphere was nice and the food was tasty, the overpriced food items and disappointing drinks mean I won’t be returning to The Optimist. There are plenty of other coffee shops in the area that offer better value and a more cohesive experience.

Customers often praise the welcoming atmosphere and friendly staff, with specific mentions of standout service from individuals like Ashia, Treasure, and Carlos. Many visitors appreciate the affordable prices, delicious food offerings, and clean environment. The thick, cake-like waffles are particularly highlighted as a favorite menu item. Overall, Waffle House seems to consistently provide a memorable dining experience that keeps customers coming back for more.
This is my to go place for late meals… Joe (the night shift cook) and Kim (my girl-waitress) are always accommodating and pleasing. WH is hit or miss. The cook asked me as he was cooking up my bowl to bring me this perfect of crunchiness hashbrowns. The server brought me a raw waffle first when I asked for a well done waffle. She was kind enough to bring me another cooked crunchy perfection. The honey however was off. I don’t know what was going on with the honey jar.

Waffle house. Do I need to say more? The mixture of cultures throughout the many hours of the days create an experience. Truly, it is a place of leveling where you will have the rich eating with the poor and the powerful listening and hearing the lesser voices. The constant bustle of the grill and servers provide an amazing backdrop to participate in your own conversations Dining alone? Come to the bar and feel warm and welcomed. Eating with a party? Take a seat and let the waffle home engulf you in the warm aromas of the waffles and eggs. Any time, any place, waffle house will serve you

The shop is committed to fostering connections within Raleigh and beyond, including relationships with farmers, roasters, baristas, and customers. They serve quality espressos, coffee, tea, and a variety of food options throughout the day.
At risk of sounding melodramatic, this place reminded me that coffee can taste good. I’ve been getting mostly big chain coffee lately out of convenience, and tasting Jubala’s iced coffee and biscuit sandwich, I could really taste the difference that smaller batch and freshly made makes! This time I tried a flavored latte and it was not overly sweet and nicely flavored. I haven’t had trouble with parking, but I imagine it could be a challenge during peak hours.

Cool little coffee shop that serves small bites. Coffee was really good. I didn’t make any additions to it which is not the norm for me. Was surprised by the size of the waffle but it was tasty. It’s not your average waffle it’s thicker and more dense. It was almost too hard though. The biscuit was good. But the apple butter was a little more spicier than I like. Would go back.

Fantastic latte every single time! Highly recommend the Banana Nutella waffle or the bacon egg & cheese biscuit. Everything is so fresh and you can tell the love and care they put into everything they make. I come here way too often and bring all my friends.

It's funny. I pass by this place all the time looking for a new cafe to try but never really noticed it until Google maps recommended it. It doesn't stand out too much. Well I've been here twice now and let me tell you. The weekend is busy and full of people because of how popular they are so I recommend going during the week 💖 My first time was full of people and I couldn't really enjoy it ( it's a small place and not fit for very large groups but it was a weekend so I don't blame Jubala). The people were still very nice but I could tell they were rushed to make my drink and it wasn't the best. My second trip: Soo much better!!! The people were as nice and chilled back ( it was on a week day and not many people were there so I think they were able to take their time) also the layout is very planet friendly. I ordered my go to, an iced Vallina large latte. At first look, it's nice and has a cute logo. 10 out of 10. Now first taste? It wasn't the best but maybe it just needed more ice because the more I sipped the more I enjoyed it and realized it was cold just tasted warm at the top!? It's creamy and you could taste the vanilla though it's not as strong as other drinks. All in and All. It was still good and It was only 6 dollars (this is plus tax) with a tip making 7 dollars. Fairy priced. I recommend it if you want to treat yourself on a hot day which you know is common in NC July. ☕

I went to Jubala with my girlfriend for a morning coffee date and we both really liked it. The coffee was great and there were a ton of options to choose from, though we both went with lattes. We also got a biscuit that was pretty good, but the apple butter completely stole the show. The place itself is really cute and it’s right near the NC State bell tower, which makes it a perfect little stop in the morning. The service was friendly even though they were a bit busy, so overall it was a really nice experience. I’d definitely come back for another latte and more of that apple butter.

The coffee and food here are exceptional, especially in the last couple years. The biscuit sandwiches are good-size and very tasty. The coffee is phenomenal. I had a delicious shot of espresso here that had incredibly fruity notes. I love having this place so close to my work.

I had their seasonal coconut brown sugar iced latte and loved it. The location is great, and the baristas are friendly, informative and polite.

Great coffee and food in an amazing location! Jubala is one of the best shops in the area. The drinks are superb, service is fast, people are nice, and the atmosphere is authentic and clean. Good layout with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. Bathrooms are kind of small and hard to find. Wifi can be spotty at times. When I 'work-from-home' here I always bring a hotspot. Cellphone service is better outside than inside. Plenty of outlets along the wall to charge your computer.

Iris Coffee Lab is a trendy and stylish coffee shop located in the Glenwood South District of downtown Raleigh. The modern space offers a relaxed vibe, making it perfect for catching up with friends or working on your laptop. They serve traditional coffee favorites as well as unique creations like the cherry-marzipan latte and rosemary latte.
A cool spot with really high quality drinks, foods, and hand cream! Their matcha and sandwich is the best I have had in Raleigh for a long while! The hand cream in the bathroom is a dream! Parking is easy too and their website has a cute drawings tell us where to park. I really appreciate the people who created this spot!

Nice little coffee shop in a mixed use residential-commercial building. Staff are nice. Pop music playing but not in an overwhelming way. This not a loud coffee shop but it is also not quiet. Bc of the concrete floors and the other features, all sounds echo. Also, the interior entrance is NOT wheelchair accessible. There are 4 steps down into the shop. However, the steps are next to the register so I’m sure you can order your coffee and have it handed to you without coming down the steps. The shop is wheelchair accessible from the outside only.

I ordered the seasonal coconut drink because the mango sticky rice drink was out of stock. The portion size was very small for the price, which was over $7. It barely had any liquid and came with a giant cube of ice. They had run out of plastic cold to-go cups and gave me a hot beverage cup instead. The drink tasted sour, did not taste like coconut at all, and was not enjoyable. I would not order from here again.
Teresa — Google review
Where to begin with iris coffee lab? The ordering experience was streamlined, and there was ample indoor and outdoor seating. Unfortunately, this is probably because the chairs were the equivalent of sitting on a guitar pick. The rest of the decor similarly resembled a mid-century modern insane asylum. All this is child’s play compared to the drinks. I was hoping they would redeem the experience. I was rooting for you, iris coffee lab. The matcha left me wanting more. I couldn’t taste even a whisper of matcha flavoring, and the price was laughable for a glass of green milk. When my flat white arrived, I felt that twinkle return to my eye. Sadly, about 3 sips later, as I neared the end of my beverage I was shocked to discover a texture component I was not expecting. After a lot of contemplation, I have decided I am not a fan of coffee grounds swirling around my mouth. The customers are hip and trendy, the employees exceedingly friendly and speedy, the drinks bespoke and innovative, but I think we need to cut out the frills and go back to the basics. Why play 3D chess when you’ve yet to master tic tac toe? I think the experience was net neutral, but for how steep the pricing is, I feel it’s my duty to let the world know what they’re getting into.

One day, I wandered into this café and tried their cherry marzipan latte and now I can’t stop thinking about it. I’m officially hooked. They make their own syrups, and the flavor is just unreal. Rich, unique, and perfectly balanced. I’ll admit, it’s not my favorite spot to get work done (it can get a little loud), but it’s perfect for a weekend coffee run or catching up with a friend. Warm vibes, great coffee. Totally worth the stop.

Quite literally the best Matcha I have ever tasted. Staff is always so friendly, warm and welcoming. Amazing quality ingredients and amazing. Taste every single time without fail. Must try the Jasmine Mini Matcha!!

Stopped by early in the morning and first, I love the concept. It's a minimalistic, simple, clean coffee shop and the employees here were so friendly and wonderful! Let's start with the butter caramel latte. Delicious! Not overly bitter, not overly sweet. It was a perfectly balanced latte. Look at that little heart on top, the barista did a wonderful job! Then there are the baked goods. The cinnamon pull apart was basically a cinnamon roll in muffin form and it was delicious! The icing drizzled on top was nice and sweet, the perfect amount of cinnamon. Delicious snack! Then there was the rosemary apple crostada with oak crumble. Oh. My. Goodness. This thing was amazing! Nice fresh apple chunks. Perfectly balanced, not small, baked good that will leave you craving more! I took that first bite and fell in love! They did a wonderful job! This is a wonderful little coffee shop that is definitely worth a visit!

Monica is the best! She got our food out super fast and was very friendly and accommodating. Even though I already knew what I wanted she offered to answer any questions I had about the menu. She was attentive but didn’t hover. Be sure to ask for her if you want the best experience. The food was as good as the service! I’ll be back soon. Make sure to tip your server!

I have done at First Watch at other locations and enjoyed the experience but my food and coffee was definitely sub-par today. My husband and I stopped here for breakfast while visiting from out of town. We were seated right away and the waitress was attentive. My husband had the elevated egg sandwich which he reported was okay. The potatoes were bland. I had the power wrap and I burned my leg from the hot water that poured out of it! It dripped constantly after the initial gush of fluid. The coffee was quite honestly some of the worst I have ever had...bitter, old, and lukewarm. 3.5 stars.

I had a very pleasant experience at First Watch! Our server went above and beyond with great service. I visit this breakfast spot often and always enjoy my time here. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming and the food never disappoints. One thing I’ve noticed over time is that when new seasonal menus come out—whether it’s fall, winter, or summer—the servers aren’t always familiar with the new items. It would be great if they were more knowledgeable so they could better answer questions. Other than that, it’s still one of my favorite go-to breakfast spots!

Had a great experience at First Watch! The Farm Stand Breakfast Tacos were fresh, flavorful, and perfectly portioned—loved the combination of eggs, chorizo, and avocado. Lucettegrace is our go-to spot for a special treat. The croissants are unbelievably flaky and buttery, and the coffee is always smooth and delicious. The staff is friendly, and the atmosphere is warm and welcoming—even our kids love it here! A perfect place for a family pastry stop in downtown Raleigh.

When you enter there are a couple stairs to reach the counter. There are lots of yummy treats available. Many pastries. Prices are between $4 and $10. They have a couple gluten free options but no gluten free pastry. There are multiple coffee options. I had an Americano and it was good. My son really enjoyed the fruit pastry he got. It had custard and strawberry type preserves. Well baked and flaky. There are 2 restrooms available. The one I used was clean. The one complaint is that it was hot inside. They could enjoy the use of the air conditioner more to make patrons more comfortable.

I am a CLT native and came to Raleigh for the weekend to visit family. We stopped in for a bite. Ahhhhamazing! It's pricey but SO worth the bills. We had the London Fog, the ultimate cheese toast ( they told the absolute truth) and savory muffin with sausage gravy inside ( can't recall the official name). Each and every bite was super yummy! The staff is kind and patient ( two littles with us) and the ambiance is perfect. Local art featured for the decor. Don't hesitate to stop in and as a guest to the city, after Dix Park this is my new Raleigh fav👌🏾 If your from CLT like me and know and love Amelie's this is going to remind you of them!

I would rate a 3.5. I got a caramel latte and a changes in latitude. I'm sharing an image of macaroons but have no idea what they taste like. The changes in latitude is a coconut tres leche cake, keylime custard on the inside. There is a mousse topping with a strong lime center. I would have liked a bit more keylime flavor in the custard. For me, it was barely noticeable but spreading the lime cream up top provided the flavor. I liked the texture of the dessert overall but if it wasnt for the mousse and lime center on top, it didn't taste like much of anything to me. The coconut was barely noticeable which for me is a plus, I dont do coconut but was trying something different. Its is not a sweet dessert nor was I looking for that. My coffee was good but I can't really judge it with the dessert as the start of my experience while waiting for the coffee. The ambience was nice and the woman helping us was nice enough. We didn't chat about anything, but she definitely wasn't rude or acting annoyed as some places. She walks your drinks over after she prepares them, so this could be a bit time consuming for someone in a hurry. Another staff member finally came out to help. I would go back, for coffee/latte. The price, $6, for it was along the lines of all the other places selling coffee in that area. But I do think the pastries are expensive. Today's market, what isn't?

I had a disturbing experience at this location today! Earlier this morning when I ordered and picked up my food the service was great, I even tipped the young lady at the counter. In addition, I went in later that day to bring my food in as one of the associates told me too when I called , while I was trying to eat. The first manager made it seem like “things just happen”. Yes, I understand things happen but compensate your customer and have a compassionate attitude about it. Especially, one that is NOT being rude about the situation. I ordered a Cali Club sandwich with seasoned fries and a garden salad. While eating the sandwich, I unexpectedly bit into a piece of plastic that had somehow made its way into the food while being cooked. This was not only shocking and extremely unpleasant and disgusting , but it also posed a potential health risk. (This was the tag that the turkey meat obviously came in). The first manager lied and said she couldn’t print me off a receipt so she went and got the GM, Christina. The managers had a MAJOR problem with me asking for a receipt. I patiently waited for the GM to come back out (approximately 10 minutes). Apparently, I was “doing the most “, was called “girllll”, and was told “the girl should have printed me off one last night , I can’t give you one.” (in her words), by the manager Christina. Which resulted in me calling the police because she was adamant on not printing me one for my references, although she had already printed herself one. Thankfully, I had already gotten my refund, I just wanted a simple receipt because corporate needed the order number. This incident did not have to escalate at all. I’ve never had this happen to me in my LIFE. New managers are needed there! Both of them were extremely rude and unpleasant to handle business with. I am extremely disappointed in the lack of compassion and professionalism.
Kourtnye B — Google review
Very rude. Just went to pu an order I placed on the phone earlier today and was told that it was not ready and had to be dine in only. When I asked for a manager I was denied one and the female at the register allowed a customer across the restaurant to insert his opinion on my order. It's none of his business what I was ordering and he should have kept his opinion to himself. The cashier should have also politely told him that and gotten the manager when I asked. This is the first and last time I will ever go here. My family was in from out of town and wanted pancakes. I thought it would be faster to pick up. My mistake. We will go somewhere else that has class, regardless of the cost or time it takes. This kind of abuse is never worth it.

I already reviewed on Yelp. So I wanted to let Google reviews know. I never do reviews but I had to. I came in late at night and the waitresses were drunk and high! They were outside constantly on the phone. They cursed and made very sexual talks around my family. Dennys is a family experience. Not a strip club. I went to rest room with my daughter and the waitresses were vaping! In the store! I was severely disappointed. I gave two stars only due to the food being good. However, I will never come here again and I'm telling everyone else not to as well. Do better managers. Don't let your employees work drunk, reek of alcohol, high and strong odor of marijuana. My friends have experienced this as well. Very disappointed Dennys.

The breakfast here is one of our favorites, so much that we drive an hour out of our way to dine here on occasion. The pancakes are thick and fluffy. The sausage gravy is mostly sausage with a little bit of gravy. It's made with nahunta spicy sausage which is flavorful with a little heat. The home fries are always hot and crispy. We've never left here hungry.

Always look forward to coming back for the daily special. I would really recommend you get the peach cobbler if you are thinking desert. I enjoy it. The staff is always friendly. I think one of the things I enjoy about this place is that it is surrounded by all of these themed restaurants. However, Big Ed's gives you a good southern meal that does not break the bank. Starbucks is a coffee shop chain with locations all around the country. The Wakefield Commons Drive Ste 109 Raleigh location provides a great place to get your morning caffeine fix, as well as some light snacks if you're getting hungry later on. The menu features many popular Starbucks drinks like Frappuccinos and lattes, as well as pastries and sandwiches. This Starbucks is inside of a Marriott hotel, so the service is always smooth and transactions go rapidly.
Was there today as the doors opened an was greeted by a friendly barista gentleman who made my coffee and husbands order prefectly with a big smile. The lovely lady who took my order had the coolest Polish accent and was super nice. My order is crazy she got it right and the guy made it right. That should be how it goes but sadly it doesn’t always. Busy with it being at Marriott and the price was $5.95 plus tax which is always the price of my drink. I will go back tomorrow. Sticky notes with what people wish was their super power was really cool and Brownie the dog who was the puppy of the month?! Well I wish I could meet him!

I go to this Starbucks all the time and usually love it. Today I asked for a matcha latte with 2 pumps of vanilla and 2 pumps peppermint. I got a regular matcha latte with the name Liz on it. Liz (the stranger next to me) ordered a coffee. So this wasn’t her drink. There’s no mistaking when you have peppermint in your drink… I told the person who made my drink “hi! This doesn’t have peppermint or vanilla” she gaslit me and said “yes it does, do you want me to add more”… I’m sorry, but this was so disappointing and off putting. I never had issues here and then I confront an issue and get gaslit?

I order the same drink almost every day: a Venti Mocha. As someone who travels frequently, I visit many Starbucks locations across the USA, and I appreciate the consistency of the drink—it’s usually excellent and a perfect way to kickstart my day. Unfortunately, during my week in Raleigh, I encountered a location that struggled with the mocha. Out of five drinks, four tasted more like a latte without the chocolate. On my final day, I returned to express my concern. Instead of remaking my drink, they offered me a cup of chocolate syrup with instructions to stir it into my venti cup. After spending over $30 in five days, I'm disappointed and will not be returning to this location.

I was told “here’s food for thought” about leaving a one star review for sir Walter coffee on Fayetteville after trying to give feedback, I am going to leave a five star review here lol very friendly and had coffee after 5pm

Heatwave warning in NC, and it’s super busy with people in costumes waiting for a refresher. Staff is ignoring the people and restocking lids, organizing napkins, and taking out trash bags filled 1/3. Several minutes have passed and not one ordered taken, after they finish organizing and restocking they go back into the back for another while.
Diego M — Google review
My drink was terrible, it tasted like very old syrup and coffee beans and my server mabel treated me terribly her attitude was disgusting with the drink.
Ahbrionna W — Google review
Great location with all the staples. Connects to the Marriott lobby. Love their seasonal lattes and their flat white along with a hot cup of consistent ☕ coffee. The only drawback is the line and wait. They also have ♿ handicap accessible 🅿️ parking, 🚻 restrooms and seating.
Jordan B — Google review
They had no hot food, I had to wait too long and they made my drink incorrectly. I had to throw it away rather than wait again. Go somewhere else.

Bob Evans is a charming casual dining chain that originated on an Ohio farm, celebrated for its hearty family-style meals and inviting country atmosphere. Whether you're planning a cozy Valentine's Day or just craving comfort food, Bob Evans has you covered with options like breakfast delivered right to your door or the delightful "Homestyle Hug" meal delivery service. Diners rave about the scrumptious offerings, from fluffy pancakes loved by younger siblings to savory western omelettes adored by moms.
A hidden jewel. Bob Evans offers delicious meals at great prices. Whether you eat breakfast or dinner it's amazing. The service is excellent! Shout out to Issiah for a job well done.

Wow! This is amazing 🤩, the employees are super kind and funny and the food is scrumptious!!! My younger sister loves there pancakes, my little brother LOVES the sausage, and my mom loves the western omelette. I got French toast sticks and they were amazing! If I could give 6 stars, I would! Highly recommended to eat at if your looking for a relaxed place.

Me and My Husband went to Bob Evans for the very first time our impression when we open the doors the restaurant was extremely clean. We were greeted by Yolanda. She sees us at a booth. She was very attentive to us. We ended up probably there for two hours and all I had was a cheeseburger, and my husband had pot roast. Both of them were absolutely delicious but the star of the show Was our server Yolanda. I can’t tell you how impressed we were with her. She is a lovely young woman. Compassion, patience, and professionalism she made us feel like we were the only people in that restaurant we talked when she was able to come to the table she checked Many times we told each other where we were from I showed her pictures of my dogs. She showed me pictures of her children also right before we left the manager. Amanda stopped by our table as I was texting my friend about what a wonderful experience me and My Husband were having at Bob Evans because my friend recommended it when Amanda stopped by Let us know she was the manager. I couldn’t help myself. I just had to tell her what a wonderful time we were having the meal was delicious but again for the most part, it was all about Yolanda and how she took care of us. It felt like I’ve known this young lady, my whole life by the time we left me and Yolanda exchanged phone numbers and she is now my new BFF We look forward to going back there. In October, my sister will always come here from New York. I also spoke to my sister last night again and I went on and on and on about the restaurant how good the food was and of course, Yolanda and Amanda. My husband and I am 65 My Husband is 80 so obviously we’ve been too many different kinds of restaurants from fast food Two exclusive restaurants, and everything in between and in all honesty, I could say that our experience at Bob Evans was absolutely hands-down our best experience largely in part because of our server Yolanda I hope this review gets to the right people

There was only 1 server waiting tables and she was fantastic!!! However, the manager herself brought us our plates, serving us these home fries. As someone who worked in the food industry for longer than I would've preferred, never serve a guest something you wouldn't eat yourself.

We went here after arriving on an early flight. I have not been to a Bob Evans in years. I had a great server named Desire and my eggs were the best eggs a lady could ask for. Scrambled soft with cheese. It made my day because most restaurants cannot get eggs right. Thank you for the service and delightful eggs. My gtienfs loved their cinnamon biscuits, apple pancakes, and all of our meats. Will definitely come again.

Yolanda is the best! She is so nice and is great at her job. She goes above and beyond to make her customers feel welcome. The gentleman who is host and cashier was very courteous too. The food and drinks came out quickly and were very nicely prepared. Just what we hoped for!

45 minutes to get food from the time we placed our order, mold on the ceilings, and a dead cockroach on the floor near the kitchen. Waiter also missed part of our order and after having to wait so long for our food we decided it's not worth waiting even longer for some mashed potatoes.

Benelux Café is a charming and unique coffee shop located in West Raleigh, North Carolina. It offers a vibrant ambiance with a panoramic painting made of coffee beans. The café roasts its own beans, ensuring fresh and flavorful coffee for visitors. With spacious seating and complimentary WiFi, it's an ideal spot to enjoy Belgian waffles, smoothies, and specialty coffee drinks.
Such a cute coffee place! The waffles were awesome. Chocolate croissant was legit. We overheard the monkey bread is awesome too. Coffee is strong. We liked it!

I recently discovered Benelux Caffee, which also goes by El Barista, and it has quickly become my absolute favorite spot! From the moment you walk in, you're greeted by the most wonderful and friendly staff. They truly make the experience special. The quality here is top-notch. Every drink is prepared with care and skill. I ordered a latte, and it was perfection – the milk was beautifully foamy and steamed to the exact right temperature. It's clear they know what they're doing! On top of that, I tried the bagel with egg, cheese, and turkey. It was served warm and was perfectly toasty without being overdone, exactly how I love it. What really makes this place shine is the incredible staff. They are happy to customize any drink to your liking, and if you're not sure what to get, the baristas give excellent recommendations. The atmosphere is perfect for any season or reason. It’s a fantastic place to grab a refreshing iced drink during the summer or a comforting hot beverage to warm up in the winter. It’s ideal for catching up with friends or for settling in with your laptop to get some work done. I can't recommend Benelux Caffee enough. You won't be disappointed!
Antonio C — Google review
The food was very good. The coffee was NOT burnt or bitter, and the waffles were very good. They look far more surgery than they really are. I would return.

I got thr bacon egg and cheese bagel, the bagel was soft and bacon was cooked perfectly. I got an iced white mocha and it was great! They have a variety of drinks and flavorings. Atmosphere is welcoming the easiest way to get there is to pull into the starbucks parking lot and go into the parking deck and take the elevator to the shopping area.
Faith M — Google review
This place is so amazing!! The atmosphere is so cool and gives off the perfect cafe vibe. My cappuccino and bagel were both pretty good, but my partner got the strawberry waffle and hot coco...when I tell you it was out of this world! Especially the hot chocolate, absolutely heavenly! 🫶 10/10 was not disappointed!
Lotus F — Google review
Benelux was a cool little cafe! It was super spacious with plenty of seating and work space. The barista who took our order was super cool and helpful and gave me, my friend, and my boyfriend some solid recommendations! We all loved our drinks. We also each got strawberry pancakes and they were delicious! I do have to make a note on how expensive it was. For three drinks, three strawberry waffles, and tip, it ended up being around $50 which was a bit shocking given the small portion of food. We were still pretty hungry after our visit and had to find other food shortly after. Apart from that last note, the service was still amazing. I would come back for the coffee and other specialty drinks, but I probably won't be ordering food from Benelux anymore.
Ellie B — Google review
The last time I was in the Cameron District in Raleigh, I wanted a coffee, so I tried the Benelux Cafe. I ordered a Sugar Free Vanilla Latte. It was excellent. There was no bitter taste, and the ratio between the shots, flavoring, and milk was on point. They did a great job with the atmosphere for what it is, but I will never understand why builders sometimes locate the bathrooms on a flat wall facing where people sit and, in this case, very close to the preparation area. I mean, one table is within a few feet from a bathroom door. Anyway, the coffee is delicious, and they also offer food if you are hungry. This Cafe is a must-try if you want a delicious coffee.

I ordered an Horchata Latte and Avocado toast, and to be honest the latte is not good, I was expecting a rich creamy latte but it was more milky and less flavor of the espresso. But I would still go back there for their very good service and ambiance, it’s in a nice location , clean, and has a spacious and aesthetic indoor and has some outdoor seating too! It’s nice spot to study or even work on your laptop.

IHOP is a well-established chain known for its diverse selection of pancakes and classic American breakfast and diner dishes. While it's famous for its breakfast offerings, the menu also includes a variety of egg-based options that are perfect for boosting your protein intake. Customers can customize their omelets with ingredients like avocado, bacon, cheese, spinach, and olive oil. Despite some minor issues such as timing and cleanliness in the restaurant, many visitors praise the fresh and delicious food served at IHOP.
I had a great dining experience at IHOP! The food was absolutely delicious, and what really stood out was the excellent service. The cook personally came out to ask how I wanted my food prepared, such a thoughtful touch that made the meal even better. Our server, Ms. Meda, was wonderful, friendly, attentive, and made sure we had everything we needed. I truly appreciate the care and service from the whole team. I’ll definitely be coming back!

I ordered delivery from this ihop and which it took 50 minutes for my order to be ready! I ordered on a Monday around 11, which isn’t a usually busy time so I was wondering what was taking so long. My food was dirt cold and looks like I was just given scraps. Save your time and don’t order from here. My order was wrong too! I ordered sausage as it says in the receipt and was given bacon 🙄
Cam A — Google review
My husband and I had the unfortunate experience of trying to dine at this IHOP location. The restaurant was not very busy when we got there so we were sat immediately but once we were sat, nobody came back to our table for over 15 minutes and it ultimately ended up being the hostess who came to help us. She went ahead and took our order then we waited 45 minutes for our food before deciding to leave. The only decent part was that our drinks were comp’d. I would never recommend this restaurant based off the service and I hate that I can’t speak for the food but I have a feeling it would’ve been cold when we got it.
Kendall W — Google review
We were the only people in the entire store and our order was still wrong. This place was painful to sit inside of while waiting. The hostess was picking at her teeth with her finger when we came in, then walked around the entire store painfully slow looking for a pen so we could sign our receipt before leaving while our food was sitting on the counter. I ordered specialty pancakes… not sure where the miscommunication happened, but I got 4 plain pancakes thrown in a box..there were only two things on our order. Would never recommend or go back.

Dear IHOP Management, I want to share my frustration with the service at your restaurant. The restaurant was not busy at the time of my visit, yet the staff took an unreasonable amount of time to serve us. Despite the dining room not being full, there was little attention to customers, and the lack of management presence was very noticeable. It was disappointing to experience such delays and a lack of customer care, especially when the restaurant was far from crowded. I hope this feedback is taken seriously so that future customers can receive the quality of service expected at IHOP.
Maria T — Google review
Found the restaurant to be in bad shape. Many items needing maintenance. Floors were dirty. Seats were sticky. Restrooms under par with broken fixtures. We will not visit this location again.
Dan W — Google review
I guess the restaurant must be closing their doors for good soon. We had waited 15 minutes for a server to greet us and seat us only to be met with the message that the server was the only person working and he could seat us but service was going to "take a while". If I owned this franchise, I would be ashamed. I hope corporate takes the appropriate measures to ensure this franchisee stops destroying the Ihop name. Our family usually goes to the six forks location, but unfortunately they are closed for renovations.

Great service, food did not come out right, The Manager Shaun, came out personally apologized and even cooked it himself, That’s what I call great service. Thanks Shaun you saved the day. We are delighted with the service and will be back!!
