Sasebo combines scenic coastal landscapes with a distinctive blend of Japanese and American naval history. You can explore the island-dotted Kujukushima (Ninety-Nine Islands) by cruise or from panoramic observatories, and visit theme parks like Huis Ten Bosch with its Dutch-style canals and illuminations. Theme park
Water & Amusement Parks
Huis Ten Bosch, located in northern Kyushu, is a sprawling theme park that replicates the charm of a 17th-century Dutch village. The park features traditional European-style hotels, restaurants, museums, windmills, and gardens. Additionally, visitors can explore an owl forest, enjoy gondola rides and high-tech light shows, experience virtual reality attractions and even skate on an illuminated ice rink.
Visiting Huis Ten Bosch during Christmas was like stepping into a European winter fairy tale! The entire park transforms into a glowing wonderland, with millions of LED lights covering buildings, trees, and canals — it’s easily one of the most beautiful illuminations in Japan. There’s a giant Christmas tree in the center plaza that lights up in sync with music, and the seasonal decorations throughout the Dutch-style town add a festive, cozy vibe. Everywhere you walk, there’s holiday music playing softly in the background, creating a warm and cheerful atmosphere. The Christmas Market stalls sell warm treats like hot cocoa, mulled wine, roasted meats, and festive desserts. You can also shop for unique ornaments and European-style holiday gifts. The parades and performances feel very special during the holidays, especially when paired with fireworks in the evening. If you go, dress warmly — it’s chilly, especially by the water! I recommend staying until after dark to really enjoy the lights. It’s perfect for couples, families, or anyone wanting to get into the holiday spirit. Huis Ten Bosch at Christmas is unforgettable — 100% worth the trip!

A magical place in Japan that transports you to Europe. Unlike most of Japan's theme parks, this one is not that crowded. It has rides and attractions suitable for all ages, also has team lab attractions which I enjoyed. The flower theme changes every month. It was rose season when we visited. Since the area is wide, it would be better to plan your visit ahead. Advisable for a full day visit. There is also a wide selection of restaurants and food stalls available, including affordable ones just outside the entrance (such as Ringerhut).

Trip Highlight in Fukuoka! Our day here was the highlight of our Fukuoka vacation! Our family thoroughly enjoyed all the sights and rides—there’s so much to see, do, explore, and eat. We visited on a weekday, so it wasn’t very crowded, and we were able to enter most attractions with ease. The place is beautiful, well-maintained, and very organized. Staff were friendly and attentive, which made the experience even better. I took a break at one of the coffee shops, and was pleasantly surprised by how good the coffee and food were. We also did the boat ride during sunset, and it was absolutely wonderful—a peaceful and scenic way to end the day. Definitely a must-try, esp for families and groups!

Huis Ten Bosch – A beautiful experience for all ages! Huis Ten Bosch is truly a place where everyone can find something to enjoy — whether you’re visiting with family, friends, or on your own. The atmosphere is vibrant yet relaxing, surrounded by stunning European-style architecture and seasonal flowers that make every corner picture-perfect. I loved almost all of the attractions, especially the Blue Anchor Gallery — it’s an absolute must-visit! The exhibits are beautifully curated, offering both inspiration and insight. You’ll definitely leave with lasting memories. A wonderful destination that blends culture, fun, and beauty — highly recommended for anyone visiting Kyushu! 🌷🏰

This place is big and fun. There are bicycle rental for 3000¥, 1 hr later 1000¥. There is a sightseeing boat from Welcome gate to Canal city ( not in hakata) . We waited 30 minutes for the Zipline. It was very fun and adventurous! There was also a bus from the gate to Attractions. There are some good restaurants everywhere. A shooting game is near the pier ( I didn't win any :( ) At the attraction town, there's a chocolate shop with a challenge. The VR took 25 minutes but it last only 3 minutes. Inside the hotel, there's a french buffet all you can eat, for only 16.800¥ 2 adults 1 child. There are two inside playground for children, the other one which is more tech, needs to wait 45 minutes :/. Other games to average 20 minutes. There is also a 90 meter ferris wheel 🎡. A water park is included too! A fishing game is inside a mall. My family won the first and second place!!. At 20:10, near the water park there is a light show that lasts 10 minutes and fireworks at 9 PM . I recommend you to not use map, it may be a little hard but It will be fun finding places! But from huis ten Bosch station, since 8 30 pm I didn't see the huis tên bosch express for Hakata station

Such a fun and quirky theme park, some parts feels like you are transported directly to Amsterdam, yet a keen eye may spot some differences. The activities in the park will keep young and older kids entertained for a whole day, and eateries on site while more expensive than the cities are reasonable for a theme park. Easy access by direct train from Fukuoka. Bear the crowd by visiting on a weekday.
Charles Y — Google review
Huis Ten Bosch feels weirdly surreal, like someone just dropped a piece of Europe straight into Japan and it actually works. The tall, gothic-style tower and the canal lined with Dutch-style buildings (pic 1 & 4) make you double-take—are we in Nagasaki or the Netherlands? The red umbrellas along the water give everything a laid-back, almost holiday-resort vibe. Wandering around, you spot things like a classic windmill reflected perfectly in a still canal (pic 3), and huge hotel buildings that look straight out of a European postcard (pic 2). It's all very clean, slightly artificial, but honestly kind of fun. You can get a coffee by the water and just watch the boats drift by. If you want to take a break from the usual Japan scenery and see some quirky, detailed recreations, this spot is definitely worth a visit. Good place for random photos and a change of pace, even if you end up wondering “where am I again?” half the time.

Saikaibashi Park, a sprawling 37-hectare park in Nagasaki Prefecture, is renowned for its stunning cherry blossoms and picturesque coastal views. The park features a wooden playground where kids can play while adults relax on the grass and take in the breathtaking scenery. Visitors can also enjoy activities like sledding down a hill with rented toboggans.
We went on a rainy day and had a blast! Make sure to park on the 3rd entrance if you're coming from Sasebo. The first entrance is on the North side of the bridge on the right. The second entrance is on the left side after you cross the bridge. And the third entrance is around the corner. We didn't use the third entrance and it was a long hike out, uphill carrying both kids after we were done playing. we had to hike back to the second park entrance. This was right before the kids nap, so I recommend you plan your parking appropriately. The big green slide is 300 yen to use. I'm not sure if it's per use or unlimited use, but we paid 300 yen and used it four or five times each. this was the only thing I found that we needed to pay for. There a few snacks and vending machines around, but we did not use those for this trip. Took us about 35 minutes from Sasebo on the non-toll road. Tolls back are 260 yen at this time. Scenery is beautiful and we look forward to going back again to enjoy the park more.

Went on a cool, windy day at sunset. The park was empty and perfect. Very Clean, safe, and spent a couple hours playing around.

A gorgeous park full of sakura and breathtaking views. It also has some beautiful views of the Saikai bridge and Shinsaikai bridge. If you have little kids, there are playgrounds as well.
RnV M — Google review
Beautiful views. There are two bridges that can be seen from the pedestrian bridge. You can take many photos and admire the views. Looking around is interesting enough even if it would only last some minutes (or more depending on you). There’s a curfew for passing the bridge. There’s a shop and a ceremony hall on the way if you come from the Saikai products center side of the road. Didn’t have time to explore much other than the view of the bridges but there are many lookout points and the park seems bigger than upon initial seeing.

We had such a great time when we were here in the summer. There are so many little parks to play in, nice sunny spots for a picnic, and the kids had a blast sliding down the big hill.

Shopping
Ekimachi 1-chome Sasebo is an excellent location for shopping, dining, and leisurely strolling. This part of the City of Sasebo offers a wide range of options to explore, including a Ginza area, a beautiful park, clean facilities for convenience, and vibrant fresh markets. The Japanese city boasts an array of solid restaurants located beneath the stores in this shopping mall.
If you're looking for a quick and convenient spot to pick up local souvenirs, gifts, or products, this little shopping area within the train station is perfect for you! While prices might be a bit higher than at other places, it’s super accessible, making it easy to grab what you need without the hassle of carrying it from somewhere else. It’s a great way to save time and effort before you hop on your train! Enjoy your shopping!

Hamburger restaurant
Sasebo C & B Burgers Shimokyomachiten is a burger joint with a unique history influenced by its proximity to a U.S. naval base. The presence of the base has made Sasebo globally connected and culturally diverse, leading to the introduction of the iconic American hamburger to the local cuisine by an American GI after World War II. Despite being an unexpected specialty in Kyushu, Sasebo has a tradition of old-fashioned, handmade burgers made from local ingredients.
I couldn’t imagine how a burger could amaze me at such. The dough is fluffy, the beacon is crispy and thick, with tasty sauce.

Very good Sasebo burger. Near the end of the Ginza you can dine in or take out. My first Sasebo burger and it was delicious! I had the number 2 which is the most popular one according to the menu. It did not disappoint it was very fresh and very tasty. I walked here so I did not see if they had parking nearby.

Burger could have been bigger - especially the beef patty. Essentially the size of a McDonald’s Big Mac patty at 2-3x the price. 4 stars for flavor and quality though. Great combination of ingredients.
Alan M — Google review
The patty was tender, juicy and cooked to perfection. The proper amount of sauce and toppings were used. The ingredients tasted fresh. Overall, the burger was delicious! The lemonade was absolutely amazing! I loved the pulp from actual lemons. It added some texture to the juice. Very different from what I'd get at home, in a great way! I'll never look at fast food burgers the same.👌🏾😋

The Tenkaiho Observatory is a popular hilltop lookout point in Sasebo, offering stunning views of approximately 200 Kujūku Islands. It is known for its colorful flowers, with rape blossoms in spring and cosmos in fall attracting many visitors. The observatory provides panoramic views of the entire Kujuku Islands and is favored for its sunset views, especially during the spring and fall months when canola fields and fall foliage are particularly beautiful.
One of the best sunset views I’ve ever seen. It’s a quiet park, with an observatory deck where you have a full view in all angles. On one side, you can see Sasebo city and the harbor, and the other side has the seaside sunset with several island scattered in the sea. There are some more far away islands near the end of the sights, making the scene even more interesting. Overall, this is a great spot to enjoy sunset.

Sasaizumi is a popular izakaya eatery in Sasebo known for its casual setting and wide variety of fresh seafood dishes. The menu offers sashimi options, including squid, horse mackerel, and octopus. Visitors can also try the herb-marinated horse mackerel and other fish selections. The area's specialty of lemon peppered meat is available as well.
We went here as recommended by our captain at Kujukushima yacht cruise. We wanted to try different sashimi from this side of Kyushu. We ordered カワハギ (baby amberjack), herb-marinated horse mackerel, and another fish. Apparently lemon peppered meat is a thing in the area, so we got a plate of that too. The food was very filling and so good too! Our thirst for seafood was sated!

Italian restaurant
Restaurant
Pinocchio is an Italian restaurant located inside the Huis Ten Bosch theme park. Despite being a theme park restaurant, it defies convention with its excellent Italian food. The signature bacon and potato pizza as well as the eggplant and sausage pasta are highly recommended, both tasting hand-made with love by the chef. The prices are affordable, making it a great dining option within the park. Customers particularly praise the freshly baked pizzas and delicious pastas served at Pinocchio.
Food was delicious. Seafood pasta was al dente with generous portion of seafood and a tinge of kick with dried chilli. Very flavourful. Porcini mushroom with pork pizza was really well baked. Crust of the pizza was slightly crispy with soft insides. Prices were decent for a theme park and service was fast despite how packed the restaurant was. Service crew was attentive and constantly refills our water. Cosy environment. Highly recommended👍🏻

Perfectly decent spot for lunch within the Huis den Bosch Park near Sasebo. Pastas are fine but the pizzas are excellent. A good option when visiting.

Pinocchio is.more a pizza 🍕 place but they do serve pasta 🍝. Prices are reasonable despite being inside a theme park. For 2 person, a regular pasta and pizza should suffice as the large pasta we ordered seems gargantuan. 😦 Nonetheless, we managed to finish them all as they are tasty and yummy 😋 maybe we were hungry too 😉 however, there doesn’t seem to have a choice of type of crust though (or we didn’t know how) 🤪 seems quite popular during dinner as there is a line queueing when we left. They do take away too btw. A nice meal to end the day 👍🏻

Margarita pizza is fantastic. Just wanted the tomato base to have a little more impact. The carbonara is also very good, creamy and delicious. But don’t go having your dinner here hoping to just pop over to the water fountain area to view the fireworks finale. They will block off the shortest path there and you need to make one big round.

Excellent Italian food inside the huis ten bosch theme park. Uncle is always skeptical about theme park restaurant but this one defies convention. Both the signature bacon and potato pizza as well the eggplant and sausage pasta was great and tasted hand made with love by the chef. Both dishes was also affordable at around 1500 yen.

This was not the carbonara I was expecting. Disappointed in the lack of ingredients and bacon was so sparse. Luckily there was still Tabasco sauce to save the day 1,450 yen for this

Had dinner here to catch the night lights at Huis Ten Bosch. Both the risotto and pizza were enough for two people.

Seafood restaurant
Red Lobster is a vibrant chain eatery that offers classic American seafood options in a charming New England-themed atmosphere. The delectable dishes are served piping hot and are always fresh. The menu boasts an array of mouthwatering choices, including the perfectly fresh raw oysters. The waitstaff, particularly Ball, is exceptional - a courteous and professional young lady who speaks English flawlessly and even Japanese, ensuring guests feel welcome and enjoy an elevated dining experience.
Our food was served piping hot and fresh. Everything was delicious. The raw oysters were fresh. Our waitress was “Ball.” Very nice young lady, very professional, and very attentive. She spoke English perfectly and Japanese and really made us feel welcome and enhanced our dining experience. Please tell her “thank you” for her kindness and professionalism.

The Huis Ten Bosch branch of Red Lobster. Food as expected, good but not spectacular. Decor as expected, generic American style diner. Staff friendly and welcoming, even at the end of the day close to closing time.

Soooo good! I’m glad everytime I’ve been here it’s not packed so I enjoy that! The food is sooo good! The oysters are my fav! The biscuits aren’t as buttery as the ones in America but they’re good! Whatever they season the fried fish in !!! Yummm!

This was near our hotel in Huis Ten Bosch and I think so far this is the best western restaurant we've dined in at HTB. It is pricey though but the food is good.

Surprised to see how empty the restaurant is considering how good it is and that the service is amazing. There aren't a lot of Red Lobsters where we live, so we eat here whenever we get a chance.

Good food and great service! I went there expecting a menu similar to the states and it was very different. Despite the menu not being what I expected the food was wonderful!
Jaclyn E — Google review
This was the worst experience I’ve had so far in any restaurant in Japan in 18 years. I’m really disappointed as we have visited this location several times and always enjoyed the food. What we were served tonight was good, but that is the only positive thing I have today. To begin, we showed up at 6, hoping to get an early meal in and enjoy the events here at Huis Ten Bosch. There was a line of people waiting but we could see there were several tables open, leading me to believe they would start seating people soon. For reasons unknown, my family and I had to wait more than an hour before being seated. Upon entering the dining area I noticed at least 8 tables open, several of which were still waiting to be cleaned off. The staff were unusually relaxed considering the number of people still waiting just to sit down. Moving along, we ordered drinks and food. Our drinks arrived promptly as did the first part of our order. No problems there. Then, the staff brought out our lobster to inspect before cooking. We never heard about it till an hour later, after we confirmed that they hadn’t killed it yet. I told them not to bother. We didn’t come all the way here just to spend all day in a restaurant. I don’t know if it was the front staff or the kitchen or both, but it was a complete disappointment. The manager and staff apologized politely, but they can’t give us back the lost time. I hope they can do better from now on.

This American seafood restaurant is very good. The Lobster and shrimp are fresh and cooked just right and not dry. We wanted the small lobster but they sold out so we had payed a bit extra for a bigger one. The staff showed us the lobster, which is fresh and alive and after they cooked it, they take apart for us to eat. The staff was help full and understands English. I wish they had this restaurant all over the world. I will try it again at a different place next time.

Day 2

West side of town
For day 2, we recommend exploring the west side side of town. Start the day off with Kujukushima Pearl Sea Resort, then wind down and take it easy by the time you get to Kujukushima Zoo & Botanical Gardens Mori Kirara. All together, your day would be filled with about 8 hours of non-stop fun.

Kujukushima Pearl Sea Resort in Sasebo, Japan is a waterfront complex known for its stunning coastline and rich cultural influences. Visitors can explore an aquarium, shop at various stores, dine at restaurants, and enjoy boat rides. The resort hosts several festivals throughout the year, including the winter oyster festival featuring flavorful oysters and the annual Yosakoi Sasebo festival in autumn.
This sea cruise is actually really fun and if you happen to be considering it, do it! I went on a clear day in December and the weather was about 58, so it was totally fine. The boat itself is spacious with tons of seats, but you can also go out on the deck and up in a very small crows nest — elevated by about ten spiral steps. It’s not super high but it’s a cool view and I was surprised it was freely open to the public. Small snacks and some drinks and souvenirs are sold on the boat, and there is comprehensive English audio for the island tour. Honestly this compares very favorably to Matsushima in Sendai, I liked this a lot better even though this is not nearly as famous.
John B — Google review
I really liked the experience. I went there on Tuesday, and there were still a lot of tourists. Luckily, I managed to get on the cruise ahead of time, as it departs every hour and the trip lasts 50 minutes.
Rhea — Google review
A relaxing hour-long boat ride that thoughtfully presented the beautiful islands. Can go up onto the deck for an elevated view. There are toilets, gift corners, and drinks corners on board.

Fast ship, well organized, clean facilities. Waiting area was climatised with free wifi. The tour itself was beautiful. We had quite a lot of exhaust to inhale but it was worth it nonetheless.
Margot E — Google review
Gorgeous islands and a lovely cruise with multiple languages which helped us understand the cruise better. It was worth every minute of our 45 minute cruise. Gorgeous view of the islands and sea.

The boat ride was well worth the visit. Beautiful place cruising around the small islands, and interesting how the big boat can turn around on a very small inlet; almost like a Disney boat ride on rails under the water.

Nestled along the stunning rias coast, UMIKIRARA is a modern aquarium that offers an engaging glimpse into the vibrant marine life of Kujuku Islands. This delightful destination features a massive main tank teeming with diverse sea creatures, including rare sea turtles and mesmerizing jellyfish in their symphony dome. Families will love the captivating dolphin shows and interactive exhibits designed to entertain kids while educating them about oceanic wonders.
Small aquarium, but definitely worth a visit if you have a kid. I've never seen a sea turtle so close! My son enjoyed it a bunch and he's 2. This was his first aquarium and it was memorable. Food is quite expensive around here. Bring your lunch if you can. We had ramen. It was not good, but the view was nice.
Duncan C — Google review
Beautiful, I saw the dolphin, sharks, sting rays, jelly fish and giant turtles etc. You need tickets to enter.
Adebisi K — Google review
The Aquarium may be small, but it packs a mighty punch. The highlight was the mesmerizing dolphin show, where the animals and their trainers displayed an incredible level of trust and cooperation, performing graceful, synchronized maneuvers that had the audience enthralled. Beyond the dolphin performance, the aquarium boasts an impressive collection of marine life, from vibrant coral reefs to different sea animals. The exhibits were thoughtfully designed, providing intimate glimpses into the underwater world. Despite its compact size, the Aquarium delivers an exceptional, enriching experience. Highly recommended for any traveler seeking an up-close encounter with the wonders of the sea.
Tik C — Google review
I was extremely angry to see how the dolphins were kept in such a small enclosure ! They are such intelligent animals and should not be treated the way they are including the beautiful big turtles being kept inside a tiny tank ! I would not support this aquarium again 😡
Caitlin Z — Google review
the dolphin show is simple but its nice, the kids enjoy the water splash from dolphins jump...the sasebo burger near the aquarium is also a must👍😋
BON Z — Google review
It’s rare to see sea turtles in a aquarium, but this place has a few. The sardine was amazing to see them up close, and dolphins too. There is also a 40 mins cruise to sail out and see the islands just next to the aquarium. Nice spot to visit and could spend a few hours (maybe 3 including the cruise).
Allen S — Google review
It's not the biggest aquarium, but I liked it a lot. It has a good variety of fish and I particularly enjoyed the dolphin show. I probably spent an hour or two there.
Rob H — Google review
I guess it’s not the newest aquarium but how is it’s possible to let animals live like that even in the 21th century? All animal rescue foundation should start petitions. The dolphin lives alone in a disaster of dirt and no nature. I am so shocked. Also the big turtle which just haeded in the corner of the tiny basin. Sure it’s a children exploring campus but for children education should be animal protection the first step. It is a nightmare for all animal lovers.

For a breathtaking 360-degree view of Sasebo and its surrounding islands, make your way to the Ishidake Observatory 石岳展望台園地. Perched high in a tower, this vantage point offers unparalleled vistas, especially during sunset and the golden hour. Accessible by car or motorcycle, with an option for an adventurous bicycle ride, reaching the observatory involves a scenic but challenging 300-meter walk from the parking lot.
Beautiful view, very quiet. A short walk from the parking area through the canopy. We liked it a lot.
Margot E — Google review
Absolutely stunning view. Unfortunately the 300m pathway to the top is slippery, muddy, and full of stones / steps. Definitely not suitable for people with mobility issues. No facilities on site (toilets, vending machines, etc). The lookout tower has definitely seen better days, and could do with some maintenance and a good clean. Free admission, and plenty of parking. The weather wasn’t fantastic when I went, but was still a great experience overall. Had the whole place to myself. Definitely worth a visit if you’re physically able and in the area.
Evalyn V — Google review
Visited about 8.30 am on a sunday. Nobody was there. So, enjoyied the view without disturbance. While i was there, people staeted to arrive. There was not much space for more than 10-15 at a time.
Mahesh — Google review
Free admission, opened daily and closes at 2100. Once you arrive at the small parking lot, you'll have to walk about 300 meters up the stone and muddy (if it just rained) walkway. A little bit of a challenge, don't wear heels, make sure to wear boots or sneakers No wheelchair or handicap parking, not recommended for the elderly or handicapped. There isn't a toilet available in the area, the toilet is located at the bottom of the hill at Mori Kirara, which is the Botanical gardens/Zoo. The climb to the top ain't easy. There's a small area with a beautiful view just below the observation deck. Climbing up the stairway to the top you'll get a wonderful view of the area, it's a breathtaking experience. Recommend to travel here on a clear day and don't go after a rainy day.
Jay J — Google review
This is a peaceful beautiful location. I walked from a distance away, but there is easy parking and the climb is very easy and clean. Perfect place for a picnic lunch with a stunning view.

Beautiful view. I caught it on a clear spring day and it was wonderful. Much better than Matsushima in Miyagi. Word of warning: there's only one road up and down so be careful, drivers, walkers, and bikers.

Beautiful place to enjoy the sunset....when the day soo sunny you can see the sunset from here...but the place is quiet far from the bus stop if you walk...There's no public transportation to go until the car park...you better go there by car or motorcycle...or if you want more exciting experience...you can go by bicycle...even though the road is not easy for it but i think it will be unforgetable and your effort will be paid after you arrived there and saw the sunset....very-very beautiful....and make it sure the weather is not cloudy or rain

Kujukushima Zoo & Botanical Gardens Mori Kirara is a park that opened in 1961 and has over 20,000 plants and more than 300 animals. It was previously called Sakai National Park Kujukushima Zoo & Botanical Garden before being renamed through open recruitment to become Mori Kirara. There have been several additions to the park including a new penguin tank and successful breeding of an amur leopard cat.
Beautiful place to visit, the staff were nice, it a great place to stretch your legs in. There's enough plants and animals to see
Adebisi K — Google review
I’ve lived here over 4 years and this is the first time I’ve actually visited for leisure. The first time I came I only went as far as the giraffes near the front for a volunteer event. This is a pretty decently sized zoo to visit especially with little ones. I love the way their penguin exhibit is set up and apparently there’s a sort of cafe or seating area that we missed. For 2 adults with a military discount it was literally around ¥1200! For an annual pass it’s ¥2100! For our son’s first visit to a zoo this was the perfect size and as soon as we were done he fell right asleep. Parking is free and just right across the street. There is a diaper changing room in the penguin exhibit building as well as a men’s and women’s restroom. The bathroom was very clean.

I’ve been visiting our neighborhood zoo since my daughter was six months old, and now that she’s two, she loves it even more! The zoo is within walking distance for us, making it a perfect place for frequent visits. The staff are incredibly helpful and kind, always enhancing our experience. We have an annual pass and this zoo is a fantastic spot to spend one to two hours with family, enjoying a diverse range of animals. The garden is a delightful bonus, with beautiful seasonal flowers and plants that add to the charm of the place. We always leave with smiles and look forward to our next visit!

Happy to have a place to take our child to learn about animals. They try really hard here to provide a good experience. Like most things in japan the property is quite dated. Lots of bathrooms available. For the price it is a great way to spend an hour. Purely on the condition of the property, it's 3 stars.
Joe N — Google review
This was a nice zoo, very quiet. It was the middle of the week so it was pretty empty. It was clean overall, but some areas were a tad run down. We went on a hot day, so many of the flowers outside were not present.
Melissa L — Google review
Enclosures are way to small and depressing and I really hope they expand for them they need so much more space to run around and fly around happily, its cheap to get in and do feeding but we went and most things were closed, we didn’t even do the whole park for the fact it was getting to upsetting to see the small enclosures they’re kept in. They need a lot more greenery and trees etc to run around with and play with/on. Like the monkeys only having a tiny thing to climb on, they also need more shade for them over some of the enclosures etc. The place was dead when we went, extremely hot and muggy, the gardens and grass and everything was pretty dead, just a very dull sad and depressing zoo. I really don’t recommend coming here at all.
Van B — Google review
We used to live in Sasebo 5 yrs ago and had never been to this zoo until the other day. It’s super cute, but as it was soooo hot out, we didn’t see many animals. My kids and I still made the most of it. If you’re in Sasebo, check it out. It doesn’t receive the same attention as Biopark, but it is amazing and close to Kujukushima aquarium.

I highly recommend this place as it's easy to walk in to after enjoying a Kujukushima cruise. The interior is stylish, and you can help yourself to water. I had the special burger for 780 yen, a steak burger (both regular size), and thick-cut fries. The texture of the lettuce and the balance of the other ingredients were excellent, making it easy to eat and very satisfying. Rising prices are inevitable, and not just here, but I wish they would try a little harder.
