Very good ramen spot in Sasebo! Thin style noodles very thick and creamy broth! Pork slice was very good and it had nuts in the ramen too which was different but very good. A different type of ramen that I’ve have had but was very good. In a quiet part of Sasebo plenty of parking available close by. A great ramen spot to try if you are in Sasebo!

This cozy restaurant has left the best impressions! Hospitable hosts, delicious dishes, beautiful presentation. recommend to everyone! Toride bowl: the broth was not overly salty. Creamy. love how the seaweed balanced and brought out more flavor. Together with the fried onions on top, it was a esthetically pleasing meal. The price was just right. Good portion size. The Nikumaze bowl was my favorite. The thinly sliced marinated meat. Nothing to complaint. I would like to come back here again and again.

The dinning area was small only able to fit about 10 to 12 people max. The food was outstanding. The curry was a deep rich brown and the "Crab Ramen" (I don't remember it's actual name) is something that haunts my dreams in a good way. Customer service was as good as it gets which is normal in Japan. I definitely recommend this ramen shop to people who happen to be in Sasebo.

Finely cut marinated beef, presented on a sizzling hot plate and garnished with zesty lemon. This dish promises a new sensation, as you drizzle the lemon over the delicate beef just before savoring it - a true culinary delight of Sasebo!

Customer service is on point and the food was awesome. Wish there meat portion was a bit more but, I'm an American we eat large portions so I can't in fairness hold that against them. By the way, this place has "lemon" in the name for a reason so don't come here expecting other flavors. Great atmosphere here as well.

Its a Sasebo-style steak dish. Not sure what they have in the sauce, but it went well with the meat and rice. The acidic lemon tang was a good finish. Recommended for anyone who wants a local western-fusion.

Absolutely a wonderful place their lemoned steak set one of the best meals I've had in Sasebo. Give it a try you wont regret it. STAFF is also very attentive and friendly.

Very underwhelming! I tried this place based on reviews and ended up disappointed at both the burger size and quality of taste. Bland patty, cold unmelted cheese slice, and the only positive is that they put in a decent amount of greens between the buns. The staff / employees were nice and helpful, hence service is 5star...but the product itself is nowhere near what an ideal burger should be - google US Burger in Fukuoka for an example of a Kyushu burger joint that sells much better-tasting burgers. To be fair, the french fries here were very good, much much better than the burger. The seasoning was subtle yet defined and the fries remained crispy despite being delivered before the burgers and consumed only after the burgers were eaten. I would only come to this place for the fries and not the burgers.

It is a small shop with only 14 seats, it is clampy, no extra room to maneuver. But it don't refrain me for having a good burger and fries. The piping hot fries just from the fryer and the tasty, juicy huge burger pack with lettuce, cheese, ham and egg. Luckily for me when I enter the shop there is a table for 4 waiting for me, if not I am sure need to wait a long time for the burger. But anyway it worth to wait.

Delicious! I’m so glad that I picked this burger place from many places. The bacon was smoky and flavorful, burger patties were juicy and buns were just perfect. French fries were freshly fried. Amazing! Highly recommended!

Though the burger was excellent, the wait to get the burger was absurd. We waited for 20-25 minutes just for a table to open up, with several people happily chatting on the few available tables, then another 10 minutes for the food to come out. Just not worth the wait.

Got the Special Burger, onion rings, and black iced coffee. It was a bit expensive compared to a similar quality Japanese meal, but I wanted to try at least one burger in Sasebo. Came before 10 am and the shop was already 3/4 full. The burger was made to order and it was good, especially considering the price --- if I compare this to NYC pricing. For me to get a similar burger in NYC, the price would be at least 2.5x and the service would probably be far worse. The onion rings were the stand-out. Very tasty, not overly salty, and perfectly crisp. Small, but interesting atmosphere and it was cool to see American kitsch culture in the context of a US naval base town in Japan. I would come back again to try a different kind of burger and the fries.

A yummy stop for Sasebo burgers and this little joint is at the corner of a small street, coming out to a main road. It's a small 14 seater plane, and everything is prepared freshly when ordered. A double patty is ¥1518, and if it is a set with fries and soft drink, that comes up to ¥2068.

Perfectly decent spot for lunch within the Huis den Bosch Park near Sasebo. Pastas are fine but the pizzas are excellent. A good option when visiting.

Pinocchio is.more a pizza 🍕 place but they do serve pasta 🍝. Prices are reasonable despite being inside a theme park. For 2 person, a regular pasta and pizza should suffice as the large pasta we ordered seems gargantuan. 😦 Nonetheless, we managed to finish them all as they are tasty and yummy 😋 maybe we were hungry too 😉 however, there doesn’t seem to have a choice of type of crust though (or we didn’t know how) 🤪 seems quite popular during dinner as there is a line queueing when we left. They do take away too btw. A nice meal to end the day 👍🏻

Margarita pizza is fantastic. Just wanted the tomato base to have a little more impact. The carbonara is also very good, creamy and delicious. But don’t go having your dinner here hoping to just pop over to the water fountain area to view the fireworks finale. They will block off the shortest path there and you need to make one big round.

Excellent Italian food inside the huis ten bosch theme park. Uncle is always skeptical about theme park restaurant but this one defies convention. Both the signature bacon and potato pizza as well the eggplant and sausage pasta was great and tasted hand made with love by the chef. Both dishes was also affordable at around 1500 yen.

This was not the carbonara I was expecting. Disappointed in the lack of ingredients and bacon was so sparse. Luckily there was still Tabasco sauce to save the day 1,450 yen for this

One of our favorite burger places in town and super close to base Walking distance. We had the sasebo burger and bacon burger both size large. Pattie is seasoned perfectly and everything blends so well. Love it, never disappoints

Staff knew English, and were very kind. There is a bathroom in which you can wash hands/ commode. There is a variety of fountain soft drinks and beers available. The menu is formatted for you to be able to understand in English, I had the "Lady Burger" which was a combo for a burger, fries, and drink. It was enough of a size to keep you well fed when being economic. The food was fresh and very crisp, much better than any burger you could have state wise. You can also get onion rings, fries, stuff like that. Unsure if the burger is 100% beef, make sure to ask if you dont eat pork!

American food Japanese style with large portions. Recommend the Lemon Steak. Tender Japanese beef steak and served on hot plate. Their puffs are quite large for dessert. Dishes are closer to American portions. Not surprising as Sasebo is home to a US Navy base.

Europe has so many places like this were locals stop for a pastry and a cup of coffee. And here for less than 900 yen you have a really nice cup of coffee and an indulgent choux pastry. Seriously recommended!!

Some of the best noodles I have ever had my entire life! You can tell they use the freshest of ingredients. Portion sizes range based on what you want and what you order, but all items are very reasonably priced. Not fluent in Japanese? Don't worry, the display case made it easy to point out exactly what you want. Expect a wait at lunch time because it is well worth it.

The was half full when we arrive at about 10:30AM. Ordered Sara Udon and Champon for ¥1,050 each. While waiting, we watch the chef cook. If you don’t speak Japanese, don’t worry, the staff understands finger pointing too! I had the chance to visit Nagasaki Champon Koran while in Sasebo and wow, what an experience. The noodles and broth were absolutely amazing, rich, flavorful, and incredibly satisfying. Every bite made it clear why this place has earned a Michelin star. It is not just a meal, it is a must-have if you are in the area. I totally get the hype now and highly recommend it.

Great chanpon!!! The place is very local and located just next to the station. You seat at the bar and order from the pictures outside (no English menu). The dishes are made in front of you and they come in large portion. In case you have allergies or are vegetarian you can ask they will adapt the dish (need to speak a little bite Japanese). I asked one without pork and was glad that a lot of veggies came with the dish. Good balance quality quantity and price. Would recommend for an authentic Nagasaki chanpon!!!

Soooo good! I’m glad everytime I’ve been here it’s not packed so I enjoy that! The food is sooo good! The oysters are my fav! The biscuits aren’t as buttery as the ones in America but they’re good! Whatever they season the fried fish in !!! Yummm!

This was near our hotel in Huis Ten Bosch and I think so far this is the best western restaurant we've dined in at HTB. It is pricey though but the food is good.

We never heard about it till an hour later, after we confirmed that they hadn’t killed it yet. I told them not to bother. We didn’t come all the way here just to spend all day in a restaurant. I don’t know if it was the front staff or the kitchen or both, but it was a complete disappointment. The manager and staff apologized politely, but they can’t give us back the lost time. I hope they can do better from now on.

The lemon sauce was the perfect amount of lemony to be delightful and refreshing without being overpowering. We devoured every bite. The service was also fantastic. The man who served us was so nice and accommodating to us (we are Americans and know probably 10 words of Japanese between the three of us) and it made the experience feel extra satisfying. An 11/10 lunch spot.

If you have a group of people I would make a reservation as it get very busy around mealtimes. The back room area can accommodate around 20 people max. There are some bar seating and a few other tables as well. No parking but there is pay parking nearby. A good spot to try for great food.

Great food, but too busy! Go early and hope no one else had the same idea. But, even when busy the food comes out pretty quick. If you get stuck at the bar you'll find yourself squatting onto of a log which gets uncomfortable after about 10 minutes. Unfortunately, I haven't gotten there early enough to not be relegated to a log seat. I look forward to sitting at an actual table here someday to enjoy the huge beers and great yakitori!

The broth is rich, the noodles are cooked to your liking and the toppings are fresh and make the dish well balanced.

This place has changed. The portion size has definitely decreased and the flavor has changed. The gyoza was smaller and burnt and fried rice didn’t taste fresh and lacks flavor. This is an unfortunate because this place was good when I was stationed in Sasebo.

Business is conducted in this single story building with a small carpark. Convenient when you can get a parking lot. Inside it was packed with patrons all enjoying their udons, I could almost hear the slurping 😊 Our udons were served quite quickly after a very helpful and patient service staff helped us with the menu. We noticed almost all the staff were elderly folks, all enthusiastic and cheerful! This could be the reason for it's longevity. The udons were nicely cooked, with medium hard texture. The broth was clear, light and tasty, and boiling hot, which is critical to enjoying the udon with. It was simple ' homecooked' food, with very reasonable prices. I would say you should try it when you're in Nagasaki the next time.

This was the first McDonald's I ate at outside the US in 1993. I was stationed there and was astonished at how good it was. I think in 3 years I ate there at least once a month when in port. I still go back every time I am in town and sit in the same spot on the second floor in the corner. It's like coming home to a place that is far away.

This McDonald's is located in the Ginza arcade street, the main shopping street in Sasebo. Since a lot of shops are closed early at night, this place is salvation. This location is open 24 hours and has all the seasonal items you would expect from a Japanese McDonald's. The time I went, there was a delicious locomoco sandwich.

Dining is on the 2nd and 3rd floor. 1st floor is for taking orders only. Maybe it was early that there was still a scent of "just opened room"

Enjoyed the excellent atmosphere of this fine example of a Big Mac Supper Club while in Sasebo. They have many additions to the menu unique to Japan and not found in the States. Staff was fantastic and the head chef did an excellent job with my double cheese burger. I asked for no pickles, but got them anyway. I believe they were highly concerned that I paid for them and should get them.

Food is pretty good and for their prices it’s 100% worth it. Do yourself a favor and visit this lovely restaurant in Sasebo. They take credit cards for 3000¥ and over and they have different menus for dinner.

This is a local gem. Maybe a diamond. Great for a date night. Awesome takeaways / take out. Even their gift sets (dressings etc.) are amazing - we received one from a friend, & the dressings lasted awhile as easy additions to flair up home cooking. Super grateful to the friend who introduced us to this place and the friend who gave us the gift set. Can't wait to bring family here when they visit.

They had originally given me a Japanese menu which I was fine to use Google translate on. But then they swapped the menu to an English one. I don't see why that was necessary nor the price hike. The beef in wine and pasta of the day were good. Pistachio tiramisu could be improved. Overall, the shift of price rubbed me the wrong way having seeing both menus.

Off the beaten path in Sasebo, but worth venturing outside the main strip. Set menu options come with your starter, main, and a dessert. Every item I saw come out from the kitchen was gorgeous, and made me want to order it (including the drinks!) the decor and atmosphere was great. I would definitely go here on a date if my wife was in the area!

Cafe 5 has been a favorite since 2010! My favorite is Loco Moco with chicken and avocado. They have a great eclectic selection of food and drinks. The service is great and the atmosphere is fun, quirky and overall awesome. Come for lunch or dinner!

The hotel rooms and staffs are generally friendly and good. Location of the hotel is quiet but downside is secluded and inaccessible by car or foot. Based on experience, you will have to park in the location stated in my photo, walk across to the hotel shuttle bus waiting area near to theme park, and use their number to get the hotel counter to get them to send you to hotel. Remember to print the parking lot receipt when entering the parking lot, you can claim it back from the hotel. Without receipt, there is no way to claim. The night parking is 1000 yen flat and you can park till you exit for a few nights.

We had a wonderful stay at the Hotel Den Haag! A shuttle bus came to take us to the hotel from the designated parking lot. We were greeted by friendly staff who speak both English and Japanese, and we were charmed by the festive decorations throughout the hotel. We received complimentary onsen vouchers and a shuttle schedule, although we didn’t end up using them. We arrived on the last night of New Year’s fireworks, and the view from the harbor view room was spectacular! Our party also had a loft room. The fireworks were not visible but the water view was still surprisingly good. We also enjoyed the nightstand radio feature! I suggest making a reservation for the hotel buffet, as it was completely booked at dinner time. We were able to eat at the yakitori takeout restaurant in the harbor area instead; Red Lobster is also accessible without paying park admission. There was a short wait for the breakfast buffet, but it was worth it. There was wonderful variety and I was able to find out allergen information on the website in advance. A few baby food items are also available! I expected the Den Haag might be dated and possibly underwhelming, but our whole group was impressed by the hospitality, vintage ambience, food, and views. We would love to stay here again.

Most unpleasant bell service at the Hotel Den Haag Nagasaki. Upon check in, a petite hotel staff (lady) fluent in English helped us with off loading luggage onto the trolley.  She was helpful and also gave us timetable of shuttle bus. But for departure next day, while there were plenty of staff near the area for hotel guests waiting for shuttle bus to get to our cars, none came to help any hotel guests transferring luggage onto the bus!   It was so inconvenient to your car by shuttle, yet no staff thought to come help (one foreign hotel staff (man) waived us good bye for a long while we were all seated on the bus. I wonder why he didn't think of to help any guests with luggage? I learnt no parking near hotel due to fireworks happening 2 days after our departure.  So guests had to take shuttle bus (2 rides per hour only) to parking at front entrance of the theme park. It was raining/snowing, not to mention we had aging parents and young children travelling with us. It was most inconvenient and we felt as if we are unworthy the way we were treated. However, thumb up to the hotel's restaurant as the buffet on local delicacy is delicious and great value for money. And the restaurant staff service was very friendly & good! I doubted if it's not a norm for Japanese hotel staff to help with guests' luggage, but our later hotel experience in Kyushu, whether it's small traditional Japanese Hot spring hotel or the Hilton Hawk Fukuoka, all of them (regardless western or traditional, small or big) had  helpful staff with our luggage, so the bell man service at Hotel Den Haag Nagasaki was a great disappointment. If you don't mind the parking being distance away & don't mind carrying all your luggage without help, it's an okey hotel, the room was clean.

One of the better price hotels during the weekdays. Very lovely location and views from the hotel. The staff was very professional and helpful. The food prices though at the local eateries are a little bit expensive as well as the convenient stores. Difficult getting to and from the hotel, if you have family members that want to pick you up as a sign at entrance says that the place is off-limits to vehicles other than authorized personnel. The room was nice with a lot of complimentary amenities. The building facilities, Self does need some paint touchups on some high traffic area doors, etc.

Kaiten sushi is for everyone and anyone. If you're reading this, I'm assuming you're not japanese. I'm going to go out on a limb and say you're probably from the west (or Singapore). Sushiro- is a national treasure and should be protected at all costs. Food is fast and good. You order with a touch screen, and magically within a minute, that food gets delivered via conveyer belt. It's amazing and you should go.

My go-to with 4 kids. It already noisy in there so you don't have to worry about the kids being loud. The sushi is alright, nothing to write home about but decent. The menu can be changed to English. Sometimes there are large lines to get in during peak meal hours so plan ahead.

Cheap, fast, and delicious! Not a super glamorous or fancy place, but it is a reliable and delicious place to eat sushi. I enjoy their tuna and salmon based sushi. Deserts are also a must! Also, they serve specialty food items which include rolls and meat.
