The main reason I'm not giving a 5 star review is because after we got seated, we waited almost 30 minutes before a server even came to our table to get our drink order. The manager did acknowledge they were in the middle of a shift change and expedited our order due to our wait. The food was good. We got the fried pickles and each got a burger. The pickles were homemade and very good! The dipping sauces for the fries were also good. We got the Chipotle ketchup and garlic aioli. Burgers are grass fed and have great flavor.

Great thick burger with lots of options for customizing your own or several interesting creations from the menu. Fried pickles (appetizer) were good and different from most places because they had a batter almost like you would find in American Chinese food. I did not like the fries though which were undercooked and encrusted with at least three times more salt than necessary. The staff was friendly but the entire experience took way too long. Do not go here if you want a quick meal. A while after we placed our order (while we were eating our appetizer) our server came back to the table; I thought she was getting ready to bring our entrees out, but instead she asked me again what burger I ordered because she wanted to make sure she got it right (I just ordered one of the pre-set options, BBB, nothing custom), and from there we further waited a long time before the food was ready. The options for sides are limited mostly to fries unless you want to spend a lot more and get an appetizer as a side. We did not try the ice cream options because we ran out of time, but the selection looked good with nice pricing.

The house burger was amazing, the patty was very big and everything was so perfectly done. Also highly recommend trying their boozy milkshakes, especially the bacon one, it does not sound like it will work out together but it definitely does, really really good. Service was not good at all, bartender never checked in on me, nor was around when I wanted to order more or pay for the check but the other staff members took care of it :)

Let’s hit the highlights first. The PB&J burger was amazing! The soft bun they use don’t make the burger slip out, and the goat cheese, pesto and tomato jam create this sweet savory accompaniment to the thick juicy burger. 10/10
The chicken tenders are truly unique. They smoke the chicken before it’s fried, and the smoke flavor melds with the salty/oily breading to deliver something that tastes like salt cured smoked bacon that has been deep fried. It’s like take the tenderness of a chicken finger and crossed it with smoked jerky flavorings. It bends the mind.
Side note here. The firecracker sauce is amazing; however it is not spicy, so don’t expect a zing. Rather, expect something that is the consistency of jam with some beer flavors, as well as fruity notes. It works great with the roasted Brussels sprouts, and not so much with the chicken.
The Brussels sprouts were a bit of a sore spot for me though. I’m used to tossing them in oil and spices to get a nice roast on them in the oven or pan, but these were drenched in oil. So much so that they could be squeezed out like a sponge. It kind of made them hard to enjoy, but I also wonder if this is normal or just a one-off kind of thing. So I’ll likely give them another shot.
The wait time was a little rough, the restaurant wasn’t full, and it’s possible that they were short staffed in the kitchen. After placing the order, it took half an hour to get the food. Not totally unreasonable, but I would expect it to be a little faster for lunch. Staffing has been hard around the city so I can’t fault them, but it’s something to be wary of if you’re short on time.
We’ll definitely be back! The chicken fingers are addictive, so I’ll be sure to get some to take home next time.

Let me start off by saying the food was DELICIOUS!!! Me and my newly wed husband got some gift cards for here for a fun date night, we were excited to try out a new restaurant! We came in sort of late, but we got a seat at the bar super quickly! Our waiter was nice and pretty funny and had good service. Very much enjoyed the food and service. I ordered a burger and ipa cheddar fries. The bread was a little on the dry side but the burger was great. The Brussels sprouts were perfect! Stopped in for some lunch with my wife. It's a little off the beaten path, but it's not bad. It is located in a little rougher part of town, but this area is trying to clean up. The building they're in is actually fairly nice inside. It's good to see this happening.
The reason for 4 stars on the atmosphere is the table we sat at, and the chairs, were small.
Overall, we enjoyed our burgers. One Junior Cheeseburger. One Wet Nap, Ground Chuck STACKED w/ BBQ Braised Brisket, House Made Cheese Sauce & Crispy Fried Onions on a Brioche Bun.

If you're looking for a good burger, decent portions, friendly service, at what we would consider a reasonable price, give Stacked STL a shot.

This place was great. Amazing! Actually. We went in for Burger week and it was incredible. There is a nice park across the street too that we hung out in after we were done eating with our toddler.
We had a brownie but I did not get a picture of it because my wife devoured it because it was so good.

Good burgers. Great, nice & caring staff. Burgers on the overdone side. Waiter instructed me to go more rare if that's something I like. I did medium rare and it was still closer to well done. Went to St. Louis last night to attend the Kendrick Lamar & Sza concert at America's center & the dome, and stumbled across this gem of a restaurant searching for food places to eat in the area on Google. This place did not disappoint! The staff were very friendly and amazing. The menu is busting with so many flavorful options & the food was 10/10 so delicious. Very prompt service. Had a good dinner here. Great draft ipa to start. Got a bunch of appetizers such as chips and dip, pretzel w mustard and cheese, fried pickles, hummus w pita. All were hot and freshly made. I had the cowboy carter salad, I enjoyed it and it was not overwhelming with any one ingredient and paired well together. My kids had the JR burger and chicken tenders which were both also good. This place was okay, but I'll probably avoid it in the future. First, it's not in what I'd call a really safe location. Second, they don't have a parking lot, and you have to park on the street. I had to park more than a block away, in a seedier location. I was afraid that my truck would get stolen or broken into. Third, I thought I'd try one of their burgers, which really sounded good, but they come with fries and this place wouldn't let me substitute. I'm diabetic, and fries cause my blood glucose to spike really high. Most places let me substitute slaw, a vegetable, or a small salad. Fourth, since I couldn't get a burger, I settled for a salad entree, but the lettuce wasn't cut into reasonably sized pieces, and the dressing that came with it was awful.

My partner and I visited Layla last Saturday afternoon and it was amazing healthy food. I'd seen this place many times before, but never thought to stop and experience it. When I tell you that I will be going back here I will be and soon. I loved the ambiance. I'm a big fan of movies and music and there was all types of movie and music posters all around the walls. There was also signs telling you where the beers they had at the bar were made. Y'all this was an awesome place. I got pictures of some of the movie and music posters that I'm sure y'all will love.
The food was totally amazing. I love that this place had healthy items even organic and grass fed. That's my type of food. I ordered a grass fed burger and flash fried kale. I could've fell out...it was so good. My partner ordered hummus, side salad and i forget what the main plate was, but it was similar to a gyro. I tasted his food as well and that homemade hummus drove me insane. It was so good! I have pictures of it all.
This was an experience. I love places that have good service, great food and that gives me a visual experience as well. I was amazed by all of the movies and music posters that we had a great conversation about what we saw. Go check it out for yourselves.
This establishment is wheelchair accessible. They do have a parking lot on the side of the restaurant which is where we parked. If it's full when you go keep in mind there's ample metered street parking. This is a bar and I didn't see any children present. Call ahead to verify before making the trip with your kids. I also noticed outdoor patio seating was available as well. We sat on the inside though.

Great experience, amazing burgers. The only restaurant in the area that had waiting time. We waited for 45 minutes until a table was ready for us. However the food was worth it. The mango sauce wings were divine, the red pepper hummus was great and out burger and sandwich was the best i have eaten in st. Louis. I got the lamb Schwarma and I'd say its above average but my wife got a loaded burger and it was really great. On the upper end of burger prices for well worth it. This was a good hip to go place in Missouri. Wings were awesome ! The "batata" is actually a traditional indian dish which is super flavorful and yummy !! A must try ! The burgers are delicious but you must with different sauce options. Our favorite part of the meal was the vegan brownie. I am definitely going back when next time in St. Louis. I visited here on national hamburger day just recently.
I was the very first customer of the day so it was very nice to be able to look around and see the place for the very first time.
I parked in a 2 hour only parking lot that was just a small walk to the location.
The 2 staff members I came in contact with were very nice and very informative about the location and some food as I explained id been wanting to visit for a bit.
They have plenty of seating inside and outside.
The outside patio im told stays a bit breezy and with the wind that day I could tell it may be a bit chilly on some days with it being only 65-70 degrees.
All seating is nice and they have some tvs around.
I ordered the split open & melt along with fries and soda.
Just a double patty but they show you can add 3 or 4 Patty's if you like.
I know their burgers you can try as many Patty's on a burger that you want.
Up to 30 Patty's have been added to a burger and eaten by someone here.
Next time ill probably do a triple or the 4 patty sandwich because I wanted more it was so good.
I should of asked if they could of added an egg like I do at many places with burgers and frisco melts.
Sodas for the location are all excel brand that is locally bottles in breeze illinois. I enjoy the root beer.
The sandwich was great and their in house sause on it was very unique.
The sourdough bread that they use i believe is from a local place.
The Patty's were done and the cheese and melted so good together.
The sandwich held its shape well thru the whole meal.
The fries were good and seasoned nicely.
They have alot of beer on tap on the back wall.
The location is easy to get too and I think if you visit the science center or the zoo you need to check out this place for a meal to end day.
They are both really close with 1 entrance to the science center just a few streets up from the entrance for macs.
Sundays they have a special where they have glazed donuts as buns for their burgers.
The glazed donuts are from a local donut maker pharaohs donuts.
Macs is closed on Monday and Tuesday.
I really enjoyed my visit and being the first 1 there that day really made me take it all in better.
I enjoy taking the pics for others to see and ill be back on another Wednesday.
Some day ill try and get someone to go with me on a sunday to grab the glazed donuts bun burgers.
Im also told they sell out pretty quick.
My food came out in a nice timely manner as it gave me time to take some of these pics of video.
1 staff member was ready to take my trey as soon as I was done.
They have ketchup mustard and napkins over in a corner beside the bar.
The overall layout of seating and things to look at is great.

First time at Mac's although it be been in the area several times at the next door Hampton Inn.
Parking likely will be no issue, but it probably will be too close as you park in the hotel lot. The walk up was free of debris. I noticed they have outdoor seating with a TV.
Upon waking in they have a cool local shop with various items. The counter to order is nearby. A menu board makes it easy to decide, but the staff was fantastic and assisted with questions. It's great to see staff so enthusiastic about their job,
The dining room and bar are open concept. However they offer a side room that's a bit private and more quiet. The bar seats approximately twenty. They had business, but a tad slower on a weekday before close.
Overall Mac's is a burger, fry and shake joint. They offer beef, pork, or both and a veggie variety. They also offer a few rotating salads, but did not have a Cesar I think as interested in. I ordered the most popular double menus the mustard. I also got a salad special chickpea. My wife and son also ordered the double, added fries and chocolate milkshake and Bottle drinks are available, as well as a full bar. They offer complimentary water in the dining room.
My chickpea salad pushed out in minutes by a friendly expediter. About 5 minutes later another expediter brought out burgers and shake. Both expediters were very friendly and smiled.
Everyone agreed the food was tasty. My salad was refreshing on a warm evening. My son liked his chocolate shake. but if you want a thinner version ask because it comes out very thick. A nice floating staff checked on us and cleared trays.
So for me is a 4 to 5 type of place, but the service elevated the experience to a 5. I would recommend and return,

I'm never going to be fully onboard with this smashburger nonsense. A 6 oz beef patty compressed to the thickness of a crepe will always make me feel like I'm getting the short end of the stick. If, and it's a very serious if, there is an exception, then it would probably be the fungus amongous here at Mac's. Is it worth $16? Absolutely not, but it is a pretty damn good burger. I'm glad I tried it, but I'll never go back because I'm simply not wealthy enough. Go pick up some Provel and gourmet mushrooms at Dierberg's and make 4 of them at home for the price of this one.

We always like to find a spot that @guyfieri has gone to on @Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives when taking family trips.
The Scarato brothers opened their restaurant in 2003 and come from an Italian and Greek parents. The items on their menu are family recipes and is prepared by hand with locally sourced ingredients.
We ordered the Toasted Raviolis for an appetizer. These were absolutely delicious. The raviolis were well flavored and fried to perfection. The marinara sauce was a flavor bomb. My wife does not like red sauce and kept wanting more. We were even using the complimentary bread to dip in it.
For dinner the kids shared an Alfredo pasta. The Alfredo sauce isn’t your Olive Garden Alfredo, this is what I can only imagine it tastes like in Italy.
I ordered the Chicken Marsala which came with a side of your choice and I chose Alfredo. The chicken was a nice sized cutlet and loaded with Marsala sauce. The sauce was well flavored and not heavy at all.
My wife had the House Salad and added 4 shrimp to it. The salad is romaine lettuce, red onion, cherry tomatoes, pepperoncini, Kalamata olives, fet, cucumber and served with a creamy Greek dressing. I do not care for salads, but this salad was so good. The Greek dressing tasted like a mix of Ceasar dressing, Italian dressing and honey mustard. I promise, you will get all those flavors and they work together. They have been recognized for this dressing and once you try it, you can tell why. The shrimp were huge and cooked beautifully. I’m not sure what they do to them, but honestly they were one of the best tasting shrimp we ever had.
This is a fantastic restaurant. On a Thursday evening, there was a wait. You can tell how popular this place is, and for good reason. I wish that we lived closer so that we could have these great flavors again and again.

Just visited on a whim because I was in the area and wanted some fettuccine Alfredo. It was so creamy and delicious. Had an espresso martini and cheesecake as well, this espresso martini was one of the best I’ve tried in stl! Hit all the notes appropriately and it was nice and creamy in the beginning. Service was nice. Heck, might have to come back! Idk how busy they get, but I went around 5 pm on a Friday and was seated instantly.

I came here with my girlfriend on Halloween. We experienced great service and delicious food!
We got the baked goat cheese appetizer. Having never had goat cheese before, I didn't know what to expect. It was tangy, creamy, and the fried pita chips were amazing.
For my entree, I got the Figit-About-It pizza. The fig spread was a welcome departure from traditional marinara sauce. It also had goat cheese which paired perfectly with the mozzarella, prosciutto, and sautéed onions.
I'm a sucker for cannoli, so if course we ordered that for dessert. They were huge and very delicious!
We had a great evening here! I'd definitely recommend giving them a visit, and we'll be back!

We had such a great experience at Anthonino’s Taverna! We ordered the fried ravioli, the goat cheese marinara with pita chips, and the bolognese — and everything was delicious! All of the dishes came out quickly and were full of flavor, but our absolute favorite was the bolognese — so rich and perfectly seasoned. Had a blast on Friday night at Anthonino’s with our small group. The atmosphere was loud and bubbly, which we enjoyed! Our group ordered the toasted raviolis, the Italian salad, tutti mare, the gabbagool pizza, the Bolognese and ravioli (sub Alfredo sauce). Our highlights were the toasted ravs (worth all the hype they get in the reviews), the pizza and the bolognese. The others items we ordered were good, but not as good as others we’ve had on the Hill. The only thing I would caution on ordering is the espresso martini. It seemed like a premade mix and the grounded espresso beans were not strained out. This made the drink super grainy and not enjoyable to drink at all. Besides that, the service was super quick and I believe the prices are reasonable for the portion size you receive. Would go again to try more of their pizzas! Highly recommend having reservations to avoid long wait times.

Toasted ravioli is supposed to be famous here but I was severely underwhelmed. The meat was dry and flavorless and the crust was overdone. I’m no food expert but I just personally didn’t find it to be tasty at all. I ordered the salmon pasta, which was absolutely drenched in oil. When you are in the Delmar Loop area,you immediately smell the BBQ in the air from Salt + Smoke.
This is their original location and they now have multiple locations thru out the St. Louis area.
This location is always busy but we were lucky enough to get seated immediately on a Sunday night.
They have a gluten free menu which is always a plus but we were in the mood for just a few appetizers. We started with the Deviled eggs with Bacon which were fantastic and an order of Cherry Smoked wings with Sweet Trashed sauce. The wings were meaty and juicy and the BBQ sauce was so good we ended up buying a bottle to take home.
Their menu is extensive offering salads,sandwiches,plates of BBQ and dessert.
They have a nice selection of crafted beers and bourbons as well.
If you want good St. Louis BBQ,this is definitely a place worth visiting.

We stopped here for a lunch of appetizers. We ordered Fried House Pickles, Burnt Ends Toasted Ravs, Hush Puppies, Cherry Smoked Wings and Loaded Beef Fat Fries.
The Hush Puppies were very dense and bland. They are served with Maple Butter which was so delicious and helped give them flavor.
The Loaded Beef Fat Fries are AMAZING! OMG 🤤. They are served with bacon, cheese sauce and Alabama ranch. They are so rich and garlicky. They are just so frickin good.
The Cherry Smoked Wings were very flavorful and were nicely smoked.
The Burnt End Toasted Ravs were nice and crispy. You wouldn’t know by eating them that the filling was supposed to be burnt ends. Overall they really lacked flavor.
The Fried House Pickes are made with three kinds of pickles; B&B, Dill Spears and Gherkins. They were unique and they all were very sweet tasting, almost like they were bread and butter pickles.
For drinks we had a Walnut Old Fashioned and a Pineapple Margarita. Both were so good. Like soooo good.
We would love to come back and try some main courses next time.

Salt + Smoke I had high expectations, but I don't get the hype. We were doing a bbq tour around STL 4 spots on the list. They sat us quickly even though it was busy. But tables are super close together and so many sauces on the table, you couldn't see the person across from you in our two person table. I ordered half rack of ribs and small order of fatty brisket my sides were Mac and cheese and baked beans. Man I was so disappointed in the ribs it was so dry and I'm not taking about the rub on it but the meat it self was dry. The brisket was decent. Now the Mac and cheese was straight up nasty Mac was just mushy way over cooked, ever had over cooked pasta? it turns it mush nasty texture! Bake beans were boring. The pop over was dry only was able to eat parts of it. I wouldn't go back. Too many better options for BBQ in St Louis!

Great dining experience! They are conscious of covid. You can dine in, eat outside, or pick up at the window. We ate at a patio table in the sun on the sidewalk and it was lovely. Notice they have one way traffic in the building, so enter on the side and the main door that's facing the sidewalk is an exit only. The food was absolutely phenomenal. The kids liked their chicken tenders and fries. We ordered the Brussel sprouts as an app and would absolutely order again. They were absolutely delicious. I had the chicken stir fry with rice (you can sub cauliflower rice if you're watching your carbs). It was amazing and I really appreciate restaurants that offer lighter meals like that. We're visiting and eating out and you can only take so many greasy meals. My husband ordered a sandwich. I think it was the Philly cheesesteak. I believe he said it was "amazing." We only wish they had a location in Wisconsin. If we're ever back to St. Louis we'll definitely reopen to Three a Kings Public House. Thanks for a great meal!

First time going to Three Kings and it was pretty great. I personally got the flamethrower burger with pub chips. It tasted great, but wasn’t too spicy. The pub chips were delicious and crunchy, however some of it were a tad bit burnt. Though the chips were good, I highly recommend getting the sweet potato fries. I tried a friends and they are flavorfully cooked and really gives a lovely sweet and salty taste.
Would highly recommend going with a group of friends!

Our first time at restaurant. The restaurant is tucked away towards the end of the street. Arrived around 7:45pm on a rainy Thursday evening. Restaurant wasn’t crowded so they seated everyone in one section. The restaurant has an eclectic 90’s vibe which was cool. We started with soup and we shared the Ozark Forest Mushroom and Asparagus Soup and the Chilled Roast Beet with Black Bean Soups. I enjoyed the flavors of the Ozark soup. It had lemon and arugula. The soup was brothy with a lot of depth. The beet soup surprised me on how great it tasted. The soup was creamy and it had goat cheese crème on top which added to the richness of the soup. Then we shared the Big Sky Cheddar Burger cook medium. The burger came with a brioche bun which was slightly toasted. The burger meat was tender and flavorful. Craving shrimp and grits so I decided to give the place a try as a close by option. Called ahead to make sure it was available. Hanging out in Webster Groves and decided to check out the Happy Hour fare at Big Sky Cafe. What a treat! The $7 BBQ shrimp (4 pieces) with the polenta was delicious- shrimp was tenderly juicy coated in a yummy bbq sauce, complimenting the polenta's perfectly cheesey-creamy texture. This place offers your basic fried foods including chicken and catfish. I had the catfish meal deal and loved it. Plenty of food for a relatively low price. We also had the fried pickle appetizer. The food is very filling here so don’t overestimate what you can eat. There is no dedicated parking lot so you’ll have to find street parking. Overall a good quick and easy restaurant if you’re eating on a timeline but don’t want fast food.

I was with a large group that came to watch the Mizzou game on Saturday 10/25/25. The bartender changed the game to something he wanted to watch at the beginning of the 4th quarter while the game was tied. This place is pretty good. I consider it a fast food spot (which is almost always a no-no), but it's refreshingly good. I recently went on a trip out of the country to Southeast Asia and couldn't find a good burger ANYWHERE, until I came across a Shake Shack inside the airport. Needless to say; I was ecstatic. Comparing it to other fast food burgers, it's definitely top notch. I built my own burger at this location with a single patty, lettuce, tomato, avocado, peppers, and crispy onion. I was very satisfied. I ordered an order of onion rings, and was super surprised to see that they offered boba along with their lemonade. Onion rings were a little oily, but still tolerable. Definitely not as good as their burger, but worth a try. As far as the lemonade goes; I definitely prefer a refreshing water based lemonade (which this is not). Their lemonade is much more of a sweet sugary thick lemonde which I typically don't like, but this is just a matter of preference. If you like hydrating lemonade, this isn't the lemonade for you, if you have a sweet tooth, then a must try.

The hype exceeded my actual experience. My friend treated me to lunch because she knew I wanted to try it. I wanted to love it, but I couldn't. Two single burgers, one order of fries with cheese and two regular milkshakes was $33. An okay price if the food is truly amazing. It wasn't. My burger likely would have been very good if it hadn't been so over-salted. The predominant taste was simply salt. The fries were good. The cheese sauce was meh. The wife and I grabbed some food from this place over the weekend. I got the double with some cheese fries and I'm not typically too keen on crinkle cut fries, but that cheese was incredible. The burger was sooo dang good. It wasn't super greasy and I didn't feel like I needed a nap afterwards. The wife got the Avocado Bacon Chicken and I must say, it too, was super good. It was both of our first experience eating at a Shake Shack and I'll say, the price was a bit high, but it was definitely worth it. Our friends took us here for brunch thinking we'd enjoy it, and they were right! Friendly staff, great service, and the food was absolutely outstanding. Two people ate very well with drinks for about $35. The Louberry french toast made me wish I had one as well, but the breakfast sandwich had amazing balance of sweet and savory. Not a great experience. The service was the worst part of the experience. Finished my entire meal without once being checked on by the wait staff. Never got a refill and never was able to discuss an issue with what I ordered. The worst part was it seemed the entire wait staff was all having a great time with each other at the bar.
Positive note the smoked duck with rice was amazing. Absolutely great dish. Sam Elliot burger was good but not 18 dollars worth. House made chips were way over cooked.

The blue duck is a great spot to grab a drink, meal, or better yet a sweet from the bakery case. Hands down best bakery items in Maplewood, id give 5 stars just for the cookies and macaroons alone. They also have a brunch which is nice, but never been.
Over the years we’ve enjoyed the duck fried rice but have discovered the past two times it just doesn’t live up to the hype anymore - idk changed recipe? New chef? Now we don’t get that, it’s usually greasy and tastes off.. other options on the menu are relatively solid and they always have fresh offerings.
The atmosphere is a little different, you order at the counter then sit down. We had multiple people from the staff helping us during our short visit. Everyone is always nice. This is a Maplewood classic, don’t skip it!

I've been to The Blue Duck a few times before and it never disappoints. Tonight was no exception. I was looking for a spot nearby to enjoy some much-needed girl time and catch up with an old friend, and The Blue Duck was the perfect choice—conveniently located near where I live and where she works.
Although the weather was beautiful and the patio was open, we chose to sit inside for a cozy, relaxed vibe. I’ve always loved duck, and their take on it is consistently excellent. I had the grilled chicken sandwich on sourdough bread with a side of green beans. The sandwich was good, but was missing the Nashville hot advertised. The green beans were greasy and burnt (see attached photo) and they didn't taste good, so I threw them out. I’m from the north east and let me tell you that I carve out time for hi pointe every time. The styling , marketing and quality of the building and the service is second to none. First off let me say there was a confirmed f3 tornado earlier in the day, the original spot had no power sadly. This main city one was wide open and ready to serve. Had a simple and very reasonably priced dinner tonight. This restaurant was very charming.
The weather was mild and their patio was open and they offered outside seating tonight with heaters. They also have an upstairs dining room too.
For an early Sunday night dinner, they were pretty busy.
I ordered the French dip and fries. My friend order the Salsiccia. Their kitchen put his onions and peppers on my plate and his side item came out wrong. The server corrected the mistake eventually. She said they had some new people in the kitchen and apologized.

A friend and I were reminiscing about our childhood memories of eating kielbasa and pierogies, and thanks to Google, we found the Frisco Barroom. The pierogies and kilebasa were amazing. We visited on a Sunday evening and were able to be seated in their outside seating area upstairs, which afforded a nice breeze and view. The service was excellent and the food was better. This was my 2nd visit, and this time, I tried the double smashburger with bacon and a side of green beans. My daughter and I split a Caesar salad. Last night , I spent hours searching for the best restaurants in St Louis and I stumbled upon this one. The reviews were amazing and let me tell you, the reviews were correct. Everything was delicious and cooked to perfection. We tried the bulgogi and rice bowl, the charred wings, and cheese fries. We also tried a peach shot, they didn’t taste strong but the results were. I normally don’t visit a restaurant more than once but I’ll be a repeat customer anytime that I’m in town. I also loved the customer service. I ordered the chicken salad and the bless it sandwich. The salad was great. The corn bread croutons were a great addition to that awesome little salad. My only complaint the chicken was very very crispy and had an unpleasant burnt flavor. I eventually put them to the side and the rest was actually pretty tasty. The atmosphere was beautiful because the garage door leading to the patio was open inviting warm sunlight into the contrastingly air conditioned and shadow casted dinning room. I rated 3/5 simply because I went there for food. Not a nice atmosphere or particularly polite service. Not of that matters if I finish eating with a frown on my face. Any way, I keep saying I will stop going there but I know the menu is great and there is a pleasant experience to be had there. Please do better.

Jack Nolen's is such a small, inconspicuous little place that it's honestly no surprise that it took this long for me, a 31 year old lifelong St. Louis foodie, to discover it. Granted, they only opened about 7 years ago in 2019.
The place is small and very cozy, great homely vibes with good music playing in the background. I was immediately greeted by a friendly bartender, making me feel welcome and attended to. I placed my order and sat down. For my first visit, I decided on a classic style triple smash burger with bacon and grilled onions. I also opted to try their "Bluetine Fries", thin cut French fries topped with a rich brown gravy and crumbled blue cheese.
This was the single best smash burger I've ever eaten, bar none. Absolutely packed with flavor, grilled and smashed for a perfect crust. The meat is a mix of brisket, short rib, and ground chuck, served with American cheese on a potato roll. This on paper is a mouthwatering premise, and it DOES NOT disappoint. Beyond delicious is the only description that suits. The fries were an awesome side, too, the lovely blue cheese flavor mixed with the salty fries and savory gravy is just to die for.
Jack Nolen's already had a great reputation and they've earned a repeat customer in me. If you've been waiting to try out this place, stop it now, and GO. You won't regret it.

Earlier this week in STL I stopped by Iowa Buffet. This is a dive bar. The beer was cold. The burgers and fries were hot. Everything was good. Our waitress was great. She was stressed dye to them cleaning the grill the night before and a guy had to come turn the gas back on and light the pilot lights. We weren't in any hurry so it didn't bother us a bit. Another part of its charm is the welcoming atmosphere. When we entered not only did the bartender say, but so did a couple of the guest already seated at the bar.
When reading the menu for your first time, you'll be shocked at low-low prices. Our plan was to have cheeseburgers and fries, but once we saw the pricing, we added wings as an appetizer. We had our wings, plain with Bleu Cheese for dipping. We received 6 pieces, 3 flats and 3 drums. I like it when the chicken pieces are the same quantity. They were super crispy and seasoned with only pepper and salt.
I built my own cheeseburger. As my cheese, I chose Pepper Jack and added raw onion and jalapeños as garnishes. To make it perfect, all I had to add was ketchup and mustard. My dining partner enjoyed a Hank Burger, but changed the cheese from American to Pepper Jack. We both gave our burgers a thumbs up.
Our adult beverage was Vodka and Club Soda. When the bartender brought us our drinks, at first we thought they were glasses of water. Yep, the cocktails were made in huge water glasses and they were strong. It's exactly what I'd expect from a dive bar.
If you're on a tight budget and want to out, head over to Iowa Buffet for a budget friendly fun time. Good food and strong cocktails on the cheap.

The brussels sprouts were super flavorful, the flatbread of the day with mozzarella and ham was superb, and our Korean Short Ribs were savory and cooked to perfection. The Block is situated in a relatively quiet neighborhood and our group was able to find a table relatively quickly despite it being a Friday night. The restaurant itself is designed nicely with an outside patio with plenty of seating. We sat inside as it was raining. They have some great drinks and our waiter recommended some great options. The meats are butchered on site which is great if you’re concerned about the freshness of your meat. They had a scallop special on that night and while they aren’t very well known for their seafood, I thought I’d give it a try. The pan seared scallops came with a cheddar infused cauliflower purée on a bed of wilted greens and bacon. The scallops were pretty good. They weren’t the best that I’ve had though. They were a bit watery and could have used a better sear. However, my friends who ordered the burger and flank steak really enjoyed their dishes. I would definitely come again to try out one of their other meat dishes.

Went to the block for Today. Had been there about a year ago for dinner which was great. We came in around 11:15am and were the only people there. We ordered a salad, sandwich and a burger to share. The waitress was extremely focused on up-selling (which I didn’t know at the time, thought she was just offering options) when I got the bill, I was charged $2.00 for lettuce, tomato and onion on a $14.00 burger. When our food was brought she asked if wanted ketchup or aoli with our fries, which we said yes to (no mention of price or up-charge) and were charged $3.00 for tasteless mayonnaise. The salad was fine, the salmon sandwich was terrible, grilled salmon thrown on a bun with some lettuce and the burger was fine but over cooked.
