But unfortunately it really didn’t live up to the hype. We were in early at around 9 am so it was quiet, but yet when our breakfast came it was cold. The breakfast looked asthetically pleasing and the flavours were there, but it was cold, the eggs were hard and the bread was rock solid! We weren’t asked once by the waiter how our food was etc. and quite frankly I don’t think he would have cared. We paid €22 each for our breakfast and coffee, and therefore we were really expecting better. I have read a good few reviews now (that I wish I read before coming) and I really would suggest to go somewhere else, unless they take their reviews on board and try to improve! On a good note the coffee was delicious and the setting is super nice too.

Even at lunch time on a weekend we got a table within 10 minutes and the staff was so polite and checked if we were enjoying our meal. As for the service, we were waiting ages to be seated, ages for order to be taken, ages for food to arrive and no follow up for us to order more coffee etc. The place was dead so no excuse and plenty of staff on the floor. I used to work in the food industry and know that bad reviews can be terrible for a place but given the previous high standard I just hope owners will make some changes to get it back to what it was. However, I should have read the previous reviews before booking. The Dean is unfortunately overpriced for what it is. No daily housekeeping (made clear by the dust bunnies all over the room when I checked in), no space to put luggage, and worst of all - not quiet enough to sleep at night. On arrival I asked the front desk whether my room was in then quietest part of the hotel and they mumbled something about nightlife, and made to show me my room in the townhouse - and were many meters ahead of me down Harcourt Street while I struggled with my luggage to keep up. They simply pointed out the directions and didn’t bother to offer any other help. Not exactly what you’d expect from a 4* hotel. The bed was comfortable but unfortunately I didn’t sleep a wink due to a wedding happening over the weekend. Surely the front desk should have mentioned this when I asked for a quiet room! I might have then been able to cancel my booking and stay at another hotel. The Dean offered me one complimentary breakfast for my 3-night stay, but honestly I feel like I should have been refunded at least one night’s stay. That’s the last time I ever prepay for a hotel! I also found it strange that rather than putting a hold on my card for €50 per night as a deposit, they actually charged my card when I checked in!! I was there over the weekend and they took my card to refund the money, but who knows if/ when that’ll show up. Overall, this hotel is fine if you need a place to crash if you’re clubbing next door, or if you are attending a wedding - just don’t expect a restful night of sleep :(

The first was in 2023 and it was notably a lot nicer. It seems as though the hotel has taken several cost-cutting measures which has really downgraded the experience. Paper cups in the room for tea and coffee, no bathrobes, no slippers, no daily room cleaning unless you request it at the front desk. We had friends staying in the Townhouse rooms which were actually in a different building meaning they had to leave the hotel and re-enter to go to the restaurant or gym/spa. Hotel staff was quite rude and dismisive. Location during the day is fantastic as it is very close to the city centre however it is also on a very busy street with several nightclubs which might not be for everyone. The gym is great.

After being seated we already have in mind what we want to order but it was difficult to get the attention of the waitresses because they were so busy but we waited patiently. There was a gentleman seated alone in the table beside us, he got there first before us but no one took his order so after a while all he managed to order was iced latte and a glass of water because his hour lunch break was already over. I was lucky enough that I can have a 2 hour break. The ambience is good, it’s nice and quiet, I like the interior too and food is good but the whole experience could’ve been better.

The quality of the food and the cost was abysmal. The bride to be got the mushroom and spinach toast and ended up puking her ring up from the amount of oil in the food less than two hours after eating and ended up having to leave her own hens night. We don’t believe she had food poisoning just terrible quality food. I was the only person who got the burger which I thought was edible but extremely plain, but the next day I ended up puking and extremely bad diarrhoea for almost two days. The other guests had gotten the club sandwich’s which everyone said was dry, it was edible but not good as we were at a hens getting food into us was very important. McDonald’s would have been a better shout. Between 6 of us it cost almost 265 euro. Everyone agreed the chips were absolutely gorgeous though The service from the lady with medium to short brown hair in pigtails, she was so so so sweet and kind, she was lovely and bubbly but trying to catch her attention was unbelievably difficult especially when you don’t want to be shouting at staff or hollering for their attention when you can see the staff at the POS system directly chatting away. After the bride to be went home sick I went back to complain and spoke to the manager. I am still waiting to hear back but the experience other than the super lovely waitress who served us was just so bad. Would definitely be back here again for drinks but absolutely under no circumstances any of the ladies who attended the bottomless brunch for the hens would be back for the food. I completely understand that things happen sometimes food can be just dry, plain simply not great and there’s no point in complaining as it is what it is but We had booked this place as the reviews overall were amazing and we were sorely let down. The bride to be hens night was completely ruined because of the quality of the food from this venue and I ended up puking and having severe diarrhoea after eating the burger from here. Giving 5 stars seems over the top ... usually. But it really is that good. Every member of the staff is polite and friendly. They engage in a way that truly communicates care for your experience. We stayed 2 nights over the weekend, explored the country during the week and returned for one night before returning home. On our final one night stay, they graciously moved us up to a suite to make our last night in the country extra special. Both rooms were extremely clean, comfortable and well-appointed. We had everything we could need. If I had one minor complaint, I'd say the rooms felt too warm at night. When we arrived, there was a cute little plate of deserts and a hand written note to welcome us. Super nice touch. Coming back to the room each night, there were chocolates and bottles of water. We had breakfast every morning. The coffee, juices and food were delicious. The bar area and restaurant are clean and attractive. We enjoyed chatting with the bar tender on one evening. The location of the Dylan is nearly perfect. It's clean and very safe. There are some restaurants round the corner. It's about a 20-30 minute walk to the downtown area. We never felt unsafe walking. It has it’s own little area at the end of a small street which is great. Restaurants and supermarkets very close by. The rooms are decent although way too many furnitures, which made it more crowded that it needed to be. There was no kattle in the room and the espresso machine didn’t function perfectly but the team is so helpful, they fixed it all. They even helped me with an electricity adapter. Super nice and friendly. Would definitely recommend it and I would give 4.5 starts if that existed.
