We were in a turret room in the main hotel building - which was lovely. The public areas around reception are very welcoming, and the gardens and grounds were great for a stroll (even in November). Finally the staff were universally friendly and efficient. Unfortunately we wouldn’t consider coming here again but that is very much down to our age, we are 59 and 61 so we feel that this isn’t the type of accommodation for us, we would prefer to spend a bit more and get more room and comfort. But if you’re young I would definitely consider staying here! 3 stars is fair for our experience but it isn’t a bad place to stay for a couple of nights.

They made us feel very welcome and had lost of advice and recommendations for us. They let us use their parking space for one of the nights as we couldn't find any off road parking while the road was closed. Had a very laid back atmosphere and breakfast was brilliants, I wanted to try everything on the menu but the salmon and scrabble eggs was so good I stuck to that every morning. We planned our whole 30th Anniversary around this and were so excited to be at the British Open! We had tickets, dinner reservations but most importantly a stay booked at Castlemount. The location of the B+B is right next to the North Sea, St Andrews University and is opposite St Andrews Castle.
