We had a few oysters to start with the Vietnamese dressing which was a surprisingly nice way to have oysters. Perfectly balanced. Then we had the scallops and the king prawns. The scallops were massive, so tender and paired perfectly with the puree. The prawns were again, absolutely huge and came with sourdough which soaked up all of the sauce and aioli. For mains we had monkfish and swordfish. Both were outstanding. I preferred the monkfish just because of how meaty and juicy It was but you can't really go wrong. I saw the seafood platter on another table and that looked amazing too, so we'll be back for that! Overall I'd say one of the best dining experiences I've had in Chorlton. The place looked gorgeous with all the plants. We were served by a lovely middle aged lady. The sardines from the small plates were delicious served with a side root salad not overpowering the fish. I ordered the desert at the start but had to wait an extra 10mins at the end for it which was quite frustrating as my two friends didn't order a desert. Then the pudding was small with 3 tiny slices of pear. The food portions were quite small for the price and they added extra expenses. Such as £5 for water. We thought it was free as they offered it to us. Also a service charge of £27. In total every cost £244 which is way more than it was worth. The duck rolls were tiny, and I only got 3 for £13. Honestly I won't be going back, I ended up ordering a food delivery later that night because I was still hungry. Our waitress was lovely and asked us if we'd like to have a cocktail before the food/wine started. We said yes. The waitress went away but by the time somebody came back to take our drinks order (it didn't feel particularly long) other staff had already brought our first course and wine pairing, feels like poor communication. We opted against the cocktail since it would disturb the flow of the wine. Lost revenue for the restaurant and a worse experience for us. Course two - our wine pairing was forgotten until we asked about it. We had to make an effort to reserve some of the dish to have with the wine when it arrived. Even better some explanation as to why they pair with each course! It was an okay wine selection though! 1 sake, 1 red, 3 white and 1 plum wine. Couldn't tell you much about it though! The wine measures seemed quite small but thats not always a bad thing. If you look at this offering and the price point it's a small-ish menu (6 dishes and not a single carb) there was nothing to really wow you it just doesn't feel like good value. Comparing it to the level of experience and service you get from somewhere like Sampa, restaurant Orme or even Six by Nico it just does not compare... So id just like to reiterate, the food was tasty. The staff were all polite and friendly, but at the price point it really is not worth doing their 'omakase - chef led tasting experience' - stick to a la carte as there really is no experience.
